"noise"
dcathey773, 20 Mars 2024

I give this hotel a poor rating as the location is near a train track that on the hour there was a train going by blowing the whistle, the hotel faces four lanes of traffic that are a constant noise, when a guest uses the shower the water pressure noise is heard throughout the night, the guests in the adjacient rooms can clearly be heard talking or walking at all hours of the night. Sleep is impossible due to the noise level. I feel that the price charged for this facility is overcharged . I have never experienced this type of noise level in any of the other Best Westerns that I have stayed in.

"Second business trip booked here"
Gabe B, 26 Janvier 2024

Great staff and excellent customer service. An unbeatable value. My colleague and I came here in September 2023 as our go-to hotel was already sold out. This time, we went out of our way to book at this location. The team will go above and beyond to make your experience a great one.

"Service"
Romero A, 21 Décembre 2023

"Friendly, fresh and convenient"
Bella S, 30 Novembre 2023

Very convenient hotel that is near shopping centers and doctors offices (: Greeted by the manager Jessica who is so pleasant and friendly! Breakfast bar was good and filled with options. Always somebody on property to help (not hidden away behind a glass) the property is clean and well maintained.

"Perfect. The motel is very clean and quiet but it is near train tracks. You may want to bring ear plugs only for that"
Pat L, 21 Novembre 2023

Very sweet, helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable. Bed is very nice and the room is huge. Shower is nice and powerful. Adorable area to sit outside your room to eat or read. Perfect motel for Stanford doctor appointments.

"Great location "
doofvfood, 03 Octobre 2023

Stayed at the BW between Menlo Park & Palo Alto for a few days. The hotel was easily accessible from the Palo Alto Caltrain & transit centre. It was across the road from a retail centre, & was a short walk to dining options in Menlo Park & Palo Alto. The welcome was friendly & the room was very spacious. There was a coffee machine in the room, as well as a fridge & microwave. There was also an iron & ironing board, which was really helpful. I liked the layout of the room as there was a connecting section between the bedroom & bathroom. This was where the sink, closet, ironing board, coffee machine, etc were which seemed sensible as they were accessible but out of the way. The sliding door also shut out any noise from the bathroom/ aircon. Though the room seemed cleaned, it could be improved as a quick wipe of the surfaces showed traces of dirt & dust. When walking in the room with my socks on, the underside of my socks were stained black! Also I found a toe nail in the room! Eeecks! Positives about the hotel: - responsive when I contacted them before the trip - loved the citrusy range of toiletries on offer - the waffle from breakfast was surprisingly good! - water coolers for your refills - ample charging points in the room, including USB Negatives about the hotel: - the bed & pillows were a bit soft - breakfast was pretty basic with powdered eggs & cold potatoes & it was fairly similar each day It could be improved by: - providing slippers for guests as the floor is quite cold - providing a safe in the room - warm, cosy lighting in the room instead of the harsher white light bulbs - using non disposable cups, spoons instead of plastic stirrers, & loose sachets of sugar & creamer (it was a waste when only 1 item from the pack was used - hope the rest aren't thrown out!) While comments about the noise have been made by other reviewers, I slept well when I put the ear plugs on. Perhaps it's coz I was really tired & was knocked out! The noise of the traffic wasn't too bad, it was more the tooting from the trains which created the most noise! Overall, I really enjoyed my stay & never felt unsafe. It's a good base if you're visiting Stanford.

"Extremely happy"
gilberts53, 21 Août 2023

The hotel is in a great location. Close to Stanford shopping center and restaurants. The tables and chairs that they have in front of your door is an excellent feature to have if you want to be outside your room. The beds were really comfortable. I slept all night

"Searching for a WiFi network"
michaeljohnson971, 21 Mai 2023

My stay was good for a ,quiet ,subdued , easy paced ,location. Staff was excellent , curitiouse and very warm. plenty of dinning and shopping locations around ,unfortunately the same cannot be said when it comes to internet service . They really need to spend the money to matched the cost of staying on there location

"Convenient Comfort"
1amberrg, 19 Avril 2023

Affordable and very convenient to Stanford Hospital. Some street noise, but I wasn't bothered by it. Extremely courteous, helpful staff. Good breakfast, cozy lobby, nice, clean, comfy rooms. Would definitely book again!

"Unable to sleep due to the noise of the freeway"
RNM000, 18 Mars 2023

The property is situated near the Stanford Campus, especially the Stanford Mall. The rooms are bare but clean and comfortable. The rooms are however VERY VERY noisy with constant traffic on the freeway disturbing your sleep. The owner really needs to get sound proof windows at minimum. The staff is very courteous and considerate. Also goes out of its way to help you.

"Theft and noise"
TravelingIdahoPotato, 11 Mars 2023

Staff steal from guests and property manager is complicit and unaccountable. DO NOT STAY HERE!! This hotel in no way should be a BW Plus and BW needs to consider dropping this property to protect its brand. Road noise is terrible and you will not be able to sleep. This hotel is absolutely abismal. Save yourself the trouble and avoid becoming a victim of theft by the staff and general manager of this hotel.

"Free night award yet regrettable stay."
476angusb, 07 Janvier 2023

Stayed on soon-to-expire free night award because home power was out during storms. Regret not staying at home in the cold and dark instead. Worst Best Western bed ever. Just awful. Cheep quality and long past service life. This is a BEST WESTERN MINUS. Avoid.

"Ants"
RachelCee12345, 18 Août 2022

There were ants all over my room, particularly the bathroom. It was disgusting. The front desk said they have someone take a look at it, no one ever did. When I checked out, the manager was not on site to speak to but I was promised a phone call from them the next day. I never got a call.

"Good place to stay near Stanford Medical"
drtdaniel, 22 Juin 2022

This is a good place close to Stanford Medical Center to stay, we felt safe, and it was quiet, even with the train going by blowing the whistle all night! Room was close to elevator for me, I am disabled!

"Way too noisy"
jenyuin, 11 Juin 2022

Sound insulation was very poor. The trains were running by every hour or so and it was LOUD! Noise from the street was loud too. They provided ear plugs but I shouldn't have to use ear plugs to go to sleep at a hotel that charged me 300+ per night. Will never stay here again.

"Good Location for Mid Peninsula"
Luka302, 29 Mai 2022

Great location. Close to Stanford and Packard Children's Hospitals. Steps to Stanford Shopping Center and Downtown Palo Alto. Small motel style BW Plus. Breakfast average. Clean. Overall, average compared to similarily priced hotels in the area.

"Patience required"
GoPlaces316616, 15 Mai 2022

We had a three night stay to visit family. The room rate was very reasonable. The room was very basic. My biggest problem was that there were not enough towels for the second day, and we asked three times, and got only one more towel for the remaining two days. We were told that someone would bring fresh towels on the morning we had to leave..first thing..but none were delivered. Unacceptable. When the one towel was delivered, they "cleaned" the room, but I still saw a wrapper on the carpet that was there before...so obviously, cleaning did not include vacuuming.

"Request the second floor"
susithornton77, 07 Mai 2022

On the first floor we could hear every step above us. Starting very early in the morning. The floor was very squeaky/noisy! Not sure if all rooms were like this or just ours at 101. Bucks e could hear every step above us starting at 5 am in the weekend! The front desk staff accommodated us with ear plugs. I think the price was a bit high considering this and age of the hotel, but the staff @ BW Riviera made our stay so enjoyable it was easier to overlook this one and only complaint. Great location: Close to downtown and Stanford. Will be back!

"Best western Menlo Park"
Makah415, 12 Février 2022

Best western Menlo Park is a great place to stay. The hotel was extremely clean, the staff was very helpful, and the breakfast had excellent options. We were offered an upgrade which we took advantage of. We were within minutes of Stanford University and medical facilities which was very important to us. We will definitely stay here in the future

"Enjoyable stay"
geary4, 10 Février 2022

Wife stayed here while I was in Stanford hospital. Perfect place to stay cause it's about a 10 minute drive. Hotel served a hot breakfast of scrabbled egg, bacon, sausage, pancake and waffle machine. Room was clean with a mini fridge, and microwave. Will stay here again when I go back in a few months.

"Stanford Early Morning Medical Appointment"
papajack2012, 18 Septembre 2021

The hotel is located very near the medical campus and made for an easy overnight trip with an early morning appointment. The hotel was able to accommodate our request for a handicapped room on the first floor. Easy check in and express check out. The early morning free breakfast was nice.

"Terrible customer service"
Expedition3251953455, 14 Septembre 2021

Our bathroom ceiling was badly leaking. We couldn't use toilet because leak was over it. When we told front desk he said he had no rooms available and we could just check out. 2 hours later he finally moved us to a new room but no discount on price for inconvenience.

"Leave your SUV home"
Dave G, 08 Septembre 2021

Great room and very personable service. Older motel but appears recently renovated and nicely done. The downside for me was the parking. I was in my full size company pickup. The parking is below the motel and space is tight with low overhead clearance (6' on one side and 7' on the other). So...leave the SUV and take Uber.

"I would not recommend this p[lace"
Gary P, 25 Août 2021

We stayed 2 nights at this property..I had surgery and this place was the closest hotel to Stanford hospital. Plus we like staying at Best Westerns. What a mistake. The rooms are so loud the actually leave ear plugs in the room for you. UNBELIEVABLE !

"Great Price Performer"
schwaderer01, 17 Août 2021

The facility is jammed into a small property, parking is under the building with a steep driveway. The room (116) was exceptionally clean. A few things, here and there, were a little tricky to get working. But, all in all, it is a great place to stay in the Palo Alto area and I would stay there again without hesitation.

"Would not stay here again"
formichellern, 26 Juillet 2021

We stayed here two nights. Our room was not cleaned after our first night. Towels were not replaced or anything. We requested clean towels when we got back to the room and saw that it hadn't been cleaned and the front desk gave us a hard time. When we explained why we needed new towels, that our room hadn't been cleaned, The response of the front desk person was "Oh I'm sorry It wasn't cleaned. We'll clean it extra good tomorrow". Given that we were leaving the next day that really didn't help us out.

"Good cozy hotel for quick stays"
StickyHawk, 21 Juillet 2021

We have stayed here approx 8 times. Straight forward Best Western hotel. Fairly clean but every once in a while the room will have an issue in the cleaning or room prep. We stay for it's close location to Stanford Hospital. The staff interactions are great and very polite and work to fix issues if they arise. The train horns every few hours can be an issue and Menlo Park's Verizon service is horrible, but that's not the fault of the hotel, but something to consider.

"Very much in need of Updating"
gorsehouse, 03 Juin 2021

Stayed here for 6 nights and left 5 nites early! Here for husband's surgery & treatment at Stanford Cancer Center. This property is cute in appearance and has potential, but beds have not been replaced in well over 10-20 yrs! Our mattress was broken down on the edges and saggy right where you sleep! We both had back aches in the mornings & did not sleep well otherwise. We had difficulty getting towels replaced, garbage emptied, and requested fresh linens 3x but never received them! I told them I'd happily make my own bed, just need the fresh linens. This is not a place for a recent post-op patient to stay!

"Poor Accommodations"
dclmart, 28 Mai 2021

Right location, wrong management. Service was awful, room dirty/unsanitary, breakfast was bad, and service was poor. On day 1 of 2, floor wasn't vacuumed, urine was on the toilet seat, bed wasn't professionally made, no shampoo; Day 2, cleaning service wasn't provided (called in sick). Looked to other locations to find better accommodations. (NOTE: Difficult time getting urine cleaned off toilet seat, they wiped urine with dry towel; she wiped the rest of the toilet with same towel. Desk clerk finally brought cleaning fluid and a new towel and was about to hand it to me. After my refusal, he reluctantly cleaned it.). Day 3, checked out without any expectation of coming back. Usually a good experience--this has got to be the Worst Western.

"Best Western Riviera"
garciaphd, 26 Mai 2021

Perfect location - very convenient to Stanford Hospitals. Extremely friendly, helpful, and outgoing staff. Nice area for evening walk. Good value for the price. Just what we are looking for in a motel.

"Poor housekeeping and poor service"
akkemm6, 24 Mai 2021

During your stay the housekeeping will not check your room and bring you clean towels, the tv may not work, and there's an odor in the rooms you will have to leave a window cracked all day to eliminate.

"Clean and comfortable"
Moby W, 20 Avril 2021

The staff here did an excellent job of cleanliness in view of the Covid situation. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Rick's recommendation of the Salt Flats Cafe for dinner was excellent!

"Excellent stay near Stanford"
dnkingston, 22 Décembre 2020

We were visiting the children's hospital at Stanford. This hotel was an easy walk to all our appointments. Everything was clean and staff was great. Had some road noise because but that was to be expected. Gym and pool were closed due COVID-19

"Comfortable hotel with noise issues"
Jarko2015, 04 Novembre 2020

There are quite a few hotels on the El Camino Real corridor linking silicon valley and for some reason, they are generally very expensive in comparison to their quality. Rates tend to be higher than San Francisco or other city centre destinations, despite the lack of activities in the area. I assume they cater more for business travellers. Even during the COVID-19 crisis, the rates are high, but they have certainly come down and the BW+Riviera gives good value for money during this time. The hotel is on the busy El Camino Real, a stone's throw from Stanford Shopping Centre and Palo Alto Caltrain Station. You can quickly walk to either. The hotel is on two floors, with a basement for parking. Current COVID restrictions are in place and they do assure guests of the hotel's safety, as best they can. The lobby for check-in is limited to one guest at a time and masks must be worn. There's no daily housekeeping, but if you request it through the desk, maid service will happen. Rooms have comfortable beds with clean, fresh linens, clean carpets, new decor and good power outlets/lighting/heating/aircon/iron/ironing board. There's a big flat screen TV, fridge, microwave and free WIFI. One issue was the fridge was very, very noisy. But external noises of other guests (not the hotel's fault at all), the busy road, the train tracks and early morning vehicles coming and going do create a lot of noise and I found my 3 nights sleep all interrupted. Bathrooms have been modernised and there are good amenities, hot water pressure and clean towels. If you don't request housekeeping, you can still pick up fresh towels from reception. One thing that did bother me was that on my check out day, despite it being only 9AM before an 11AM check out time and having the DND sign on my door, the housekeeper just walked in after one brief knock. Quite why she ignored the DND wasn't explained. Breakfast would normally be available, but because of COVID, there are bags of packaged foods given each day. Rooms do have Keurig coffee/tea makers and you can get refills from reception, but the breakfast is poor. Packaged, poor quality snacks. There was supposed to be an orange included, but it wasn't. Just oatmeal and cookies. Still, better than nothing! There is a pool which looks clean and inviting, but it is closed during the COVID crisis. The rates during the COVID crisis are realistic for the property, but are too high normally for what's offered. It's comfortable, clean, friendly, but noisy.

"Filthy!"
taiana2020, 30 Octobre 2020

Don't waste time booking here! The staff here sucks! And the room I was booked for was not even clean! Carpet was visibly dirty little scraps and dirt on rug! Bed wasn't fully made! Hair in the tub! Tile floor in the bathroom wasn't even mopped! There were no towels on the towel rack! Toilet paper was low! Only good for like 2sessions! Trash was full! Toilet was dirty!!! I have pictures of these that I will also be putting up on yelp! Sink had a broken piece in it! Smelled like crap! Also mind you i wasn't out in one dirty room but 2! Yes 2! I called the front desk right when I got to my room and they tried to give me another room but the 2nd room was worst!

"Nice room - No Water Pressure"
Betty P, 25 Juin 2020

The room was large and comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to the main street. However, the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent and I couldn't get the shampoo out of my hair. I realize quite a few hotels have water restricters in the shower nowdays, but this was totally overdone.

"Highly overpriced/Very low quality lodging"
cbastia176, 12 Mars 2020

Noisy, difficult parking, outdated rooms. Will never stay again or recommend it to anyone. Price is about 4x what it should cost. Definitely a sub $100/night room. There also is a train track nearby and the train whistles are frequent.

"Great hotel with an amazing staff"
Joshua M, 02 Février 2020

The staff at this hotel are amazing; I got in really early due to an early morning flight and sat for a little while in the lobby while they got the room ready and got to see how professional everyone was first hand. The location is great - right by stores and quite a few places to eat as well as some great running trails.

"Impressive"
MadDog428, 04 Janvier 2020

My husband & I were visiting our son, and booked a room at this Best Western in Menlo Park. It's a quaint hotel, that had really nice architectural features. We were greeted by a nice young lady, who was sweet & helpful. She made sure we had all the information needed for our stay, and even followed up with us later to make sure we settled in without issue.k When I entered the room, I was immediately struck with its cleanliness. Honestly, the room was super clean, with pleasing decor. The room comes with plenty of amenities and had fantastic wi-fi reception! This BW also provides a breakfast, and it was one of the best we've ever had at a BW. Well stocked, good variety & fresh. Even the fruit was fresh...which many of you know can contain aged fruit with bruises. Not here! It was great. A special note for the General Manager, who was very friendly & genuine in his concern for his guests. We honestly loved this place. Also important to mention, is the close proximity to restaurants & shopping. Great location. We highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area. Travel well friends! The Meisel's

"Wonderful Stay and Very Hospitable Staff"
globetrakker7, 28 Septembre 2019

It was a great stay. Very nice and clean hotel. Great hot breakfast. Wow Cappuccino and Latte are complementary. Parking for free. Near the Stanford University and train station to San Francisco. GM Michael Chowdhury and his staff were extremely helpful and hospitable. Can't wait to go back to the area and the hotel.

"much better than average"
rflow63092, 04 Septembre 2019

this facility is a complete makeover of an older property. the rooms are of average size and very functional. the office, the pool, tha parking, the breakfast area and the availability of computer services - all are of equal to better than comparably priced rooms and services. we might have been in the "worst' room from the standpoint of its location closest to the street, but the sstreet noise did not bother us. we would and plan to stay there the next time we are in the area.

"Great value and location"
Tipmore, 06 Août 2019

Super clean room, cozy, well appointed, with a breakfast and staff attention to match. Haven't found a better deal in the Palo Alto / San Carlos / San Jose area. The facilities appear to have been either recently updated or well kept and taken care of. I will definitely book (or try to) a room in this hotel when I come back to the area.

"Very Over Rated. Beware"
Cougs90, 05 Août 2019

What hotel has ear plugs on the night stand. This hotel. Its right on a very busy road and the walls are thin. You hear every foot step above you. Don't be fooled by the Best Western Plus rating. The hotel did not provide housekeeping service on our 1st day. On Day 2, we had to ask for Housekeeping service. Although they cleaned the room, they did not leave shampoo or lotion. The refrigerator was so loud that we unplugged it. The bed is outdated and squeaks. This hotel should be avoided.

"Poor value"
sveron390814, 29 Juillet 2019

Hotel with management problem. The lady at the desk was totally ovwewhelmed. It took her 15 minutes to activate my room card. She had to call 2 colleagues to do it! Poor breakfast. Coffee machine wasn't working 2 days in a row!!! Nobody could fix it. Not my greatest hotel experience ever!

"TV Didn't work"
Leo4Clash, 28 Juillet 2019

The TV in my room didn't work, I couldn't turn the volume up, only down. I couldn't turn the channel either. I could go down in channels but not up. They brought me a different remote so I could change channels, but still couldn't turn the volume up. They physical buttons on the TV didn't work at all. I asked for another room but was told there were no more rooms. But when I checked the Priceline app this hotel was listed and said there were 5 room available. Won't be staying here again, seems dishonest. I expected more from a Best Western.

"A place for my wife to stay while I was in surgery"
John H, 27 Juillet 2019

From the moment we walked in to "check in" we were met with genuine kindness, a big smile and warm handshake. I was so comforted to know that for those 4 nights mt wife was coming and going from the hospital she was always met with kindness and she felt secure in a strange town.

"Best Hotel on El Camino"
Kevin B, 17 Juin 2019

I was really surprised by this Best Western. The staff here was simply amazing, extremely friendly, and made me feel like part of the family. The rooms where very clean and modern. I really appreciated the good size mini-fridge, ethernet cable, and pod-system coffee maker in the room. Little things like this go a long way for me. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough.

"Very Comfortable Stay"
pempad2018, 15 Juin 2019

Our stay at this Best Western was for my husbands surgery. The Manager of the site, Michael was extremely accommodating. We were offered cold bottles of water and cookies upon arrival. I had requested a quiet room for my husbands recovery.Michael took very good care of us. Michael offered to fix something for me to eat on the day of surgery! Upon our departure Michael offered to help us load up and gave us bottles of cold water and tasty snacks! Michael made a tense situation very bearable! Our room was clean and comfortable! The Continental breakfast was very good! Thank You to the staff!

"So thoughtful and friendly"
luckylucianat, 11 Juin 2019

I can't say enough about Michael. He greeted everyone that entered the office with a huge smile and offered all that he could to make everyone's stay more like home. He was very helpful in recommending places to see in the area, and generous in helping everyone at breakfast find what they needed. It was a pleasure meeting him. The hotel has the charm of an older hotel but seems newly renovated, with a comfortable bed, a powerful shower and soft down pillows. I'd certainly stay here again.

"Exceptional Experience"
Alexander S, 10 Juin 2019

Our stay at this Best Western was the best overall experience we have had in many years. The facility and grounds were clean and well-groomed and the staff was exceptionally friendly and ready to assist in any manner requested. The free breakfast that was part of the stay consisted of a large variety of food options all presented in a clean and appetizing manner. This Best Western rates our highest recommendation!

"Excellent stay"
Robert K, 03 Juin 2019

The Manager Michael and his staff were excellent. They answered all our questions and made our stay very relaxing. We will return again. The breakfasts were delicious. We were just blocks away from Stanford University so we could walk to our grand daughters dorm and see her.

"Breakfast"
Bill B, 28 Mai 2019

Wonderful friendly staff. Breakfast was special with rosemary potatoes. Varied every day we were there but always tasty and well stocked. First day, sausage patties/egg omelette, second day, bacon, third day, sausage links. Other items too, lots of variety if you wanted.

"Welcome to “lipstick on a pig.“ For deaf people only"
Bondivant, 18 Mai 2019

The rooms are clean, and clearly remodeled within the last few years. The location is very close to the Stanford campus. The breakfast was served by extremely friendly staff. None of which makes up for its flimsy construction, paperthin walls, half inch gaps around the doorways, and — worst of all — traffic noise. There are reasons why ear plugs are included on the night table when you check-in: The sound of footsteps as people step lightly outside the door on the hollow walkway. The sound of someone taking a shower next-door, although it feels like they are showering in your room. And especially the sound of six lanes of never-stopping cars speeding past. Hotels are expensive in this town. If you can afford to go elsewhere, do so. If you can't, be prepared for some expensive “urban camping.” This clean, dry space provides all the privacy and relaxation of sleeping outdoors, at an intersection.

"Improvements to the property appearance were a pleasant surprise."
annablueskya, 17 Mai 2019

We stayed at the Riviera in 2010 and it was quite rundown. I expressed to the guest services attendant how nice and bright the improvements were. The breakfast has also improved a great deal. We appreciated complimentary bottled water during our stay. The entrance driveway to this hotel is really scary, even though we were prepared for it. Making a quick right turn off of El Camino Real is tricky. All guest parking is underground. Elevator available.

"Great location"
OUR2BadNow, 22 Mars 2019

Nice enough motel. They could not get me a remote that worked properly for the TV. They were helpful but it took the desk clerk five trips to my room and I finally just had him turn it off. Continental breakfast was average for a motel.

"Very close to Stanford"
Julie B, 19 Mars 2019

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times since 2015 and the proximity to Stanford can't be beat. It is close to the train station and a bit loud which might be a problem for some. In 2015 for over 6 months the hot tub was “cracked”. The website did not mention that fact, and in 2015 when I suggested that should have been noted the front desk was unapologetic and dismissive. This trip this week the staff was lovely and informed me the hot tub was filled in and no longer available. The website advertises as having a hot tub available still as of today. I just think people should be aware as it's sonewhat difficult to find hotels with hot tubs in that area. For me, it was a bummer (I went 3 other times where it was working) but I will continue to book here for the proximity to Stanford.

"Amazing host!"
Resort48140953510, 18 Mars 2019

Michael the manager was warm, caring and friendly. He made a difficult trip to Stanford a little easier. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast was fresh and delicious. Close to hospital and many restaurants. Thank you Michael!

"Handy Location Just Minutes from Stanford University: Clean Motel, Friendly Service"
Colette D, 12 Mars 2019

We stayed at this property during my daughter's Stanford visit and found the location to be unbeatable. Our room (king) was spacious and clean, nice linens and plenty of towels. I appreciated the microwave and refrigerator in the room because there are so many great places to eat nearby and we always had leftovers. The Stanford Shopping Center was literally a couple blocks up the road, easily walkable. It was a little chilly for us to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor pool the weekend we were there, but it looked like a great outdoor space. The breakfast was fresh and hot and the buffet eggs weren't slimy or runny. There were large varieties of fresh fruit, pastries and beverages. The parking lot is underground and was well lit and clean (be aware of the 7 foot clearance max and some of the stalls are 6 foot). I've already made my reservations for our Admit Weekend in April and anticipate staying there frequently once my daughter is a full time student.

"It could be better"
417gabrielec, 10 Mars 2019

being thee during business trip. The hotel is ok, the breakfast is very average, but the people who work there are very kind and willing to help. Room is ok and clean. I think it is a bit over-rated for what it offers.

"Best for the money"
marise229, 04 Mars 2019

Always clean no matter the city. Customer service and check in/check out is always consistent and their points program is always accurate. The breakfast is a nice treat and always well stocked. Would recommend any Best Western Plus facility

"Pleasantly surprised!"
seatown44, 15 Février 2019

Great location and nice, clean rooms. The staff though is what really stood out. The manager, Michael, is extremely friendly and has a keen focus on making sure everyone is happy and has what they need. The location is great too as you can walk to all that Palo Alto has to offer. It is a bit loud as it is off a busy street but not terrible and they give you ear plugs if needed. I would stay here again for sure.

"Convenient location for a good price"
jeffreyf933, 12 Février 2019

Spent a few nights here and. to me, it is a really good option depending on what you want to spend. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable and a good size. Nice amenities were included in the room - clean remote, soaps, shampoo, bottle of water, ear plugs, conditioner, lotion, and I am sure I missed something. The hotel is a little difficult to get into in that you may drive right by the entrance. I would also suggest asking for a 2nd floor room - on the first floor I could hear the person above me walking around (wasn't that bothersome to me though). The location is super convenient to many things in the area and there is parking 'underneath' the hotel.

"Great place"
Frankie R, 30 Janvier 2019

People were great. Very friendly and courteous. Motel was very clean. Easy in and out. If you go to Stanford hospital and need a place to stay, this is it...... This is the cleanest and cheapest in the area......Michael was the best host...... We made a friendship......

"Solid Palo Alto Area Hotel"
MarcoAndo, 24 Janvier 2019

This Best Western is a solid example of a no-frills, clean and comfortable hotel. I stayed in a first floor room and was initially worried about the road noise. It turns out that this hotel is quieter than the much more expensive Hotel Nia! I did hear some neighbors to the rear when using the bathroom, but otherwise not bad at all. Certainly nothing interrupted my sleep. The bed was comfortable (if not exactly a Westin-level mattress), the room was super clean and adequately appointed (if you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere), everything worked like it should (including the mini-fridge), and the staff was responsive and very nice. What more could you ask for a hotel? To be clear, it is right on a main road, so you won't mistake this for some getaway, but if you need a good hotel to stay at in the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area, you can't go wrong especially for the price.

"Good accommodations, excellent location"
Zafss, 06 Janvier 2019

This hotel is in a superb location next to Stanford shopping center, the university and local transportation. Its accommodations are clean and practical. Our room had good thermostatically controlled heating and good interior lighting. The bed was comfortable. The room was provided with nice amenities. The breakfast area is small but is restocked frequently. Being located on a main thoroughfare and near the light rail, traffic and train noise are to be expected.

"Best Western Rocks"
Ronnie B, 06 Septembre 2018

We so enjoy staying at this chain. At this location we have started to get to know some of the staff. Beth is a real sweetheart. She is so professional, yet friendly and personable. She is one of the reasons we keep coming back. Give that woman a raise!!

"Worst experience ever in my travel history"
cthilakalatest, 05 Septembre 2018

Unfriendly staff. I wasn't informed that my check out was at 11.00 am (I highlighted during booking that I will check out by 6pm) during Check-In. Suddenly the front desk person calls at 12 noon and asks me to check out in 10 mins. In a very unprofessional way. I stood ground, and so was willing to pay one more night. Irrespective of it I got pushed out in an hour. Worst ever experience. Would never recommend this to anyone.

"No front desk staff present for check in or check out"
wsissel, 12 Août 2018

Weirdest experience ever. No front desk person was present even though I pre checked in and let them know I'd be checking in between 6-8pm. It was 8:05pm. Another man was waiting as well. It took 10 mns. for him to show up. I had almost left. There were issues in our room like the AC unit didn't have a constant fan so you could hear all the noise, TV was unplugged, clock radio was unplugged and wrong time. Just weird.

"Does not look much like the pictures"
Paula W, 13 Juin 2018

As other reviewers have already pointed out, this is more a motel than a hotel. When you open the door to your pretty small room, you are greeted by the sight of earplugs on the bedside table (because the motel/hotel is so close to the roadside). Despite the warm weather I did not see anyone use the pool while I was there - likely because it is just too close to the major highway. The room was clean enough and the bathroom OK, but it felt like a sixty dollar motel, not a $250+ a night hotel (what I was actually paying). Breakfast was awful (again, OK at $60 a night, less so for $250+). The guy at reception was nice, but the whole feel of the place, at that price, is wrong.

"Great location, friendly staff"
ChrisRooney, 16 Avril 2018

We were in town for a medical appt. at Stanford. This hotel was very convenient and less expensive that nearby options. But once there, we were floored. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The breakfast was nice, the rooms clean and comfy. It's a little treasure. Also, it's near shops and restaurants. It's near a train route, but it wasn't loud, actually charming.

"Very helpful staff"
carmelcondry, 15 Avril 2018

We enjoyed our stay totally while hubby was patient at Stanford Hospital. Especially helpful was Yadira who went the extra mile as we attempted to get on the wi fi. Great breakfast, going-away snack, smiling front desk personnel and location.

"Excellent hotel close to everything"
822manuelz, 12 Janvier 2018

Super clean hotel with friendly helpful staff that will go out of their way to make it a more pleasant stay. There is the Stanford shopping center really close by as well as light rail and city bus services.Plenty of available jogging/running paths close by as there is a couple of parks near.Going to watch the Stanford games is convenient as well. The only thing I had a problem with was I took my lifted truck and all the parking although spacious,it is definitely not made for modified vehicles.

"Motel not a "Hotel""
ompseattle, 07 Décembre 2017

Acceptable, clean motel, conveniently located, good price for this very expensive area of the country. Carpeting needs to be replaced, no toilet paper holder, good water pressure, front desk staff just ok but housekeeping cheerful despite being understaffed. Second floor rooms are cleaned after 3:30 pm depending on your room number. Noisy because it's on Camino Real but they appropriately leave earplugs on the nightstand. You won't be disappointed if you adjust your expectations.

"Great Little Hotel"
treasurelife, 05 Décembre 2017

Great place. This was our second year going to a Standford / Notre Dame football game with two other family's.We had three rooms. Great location walking distant to game ,shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good , staff was pleasant and rooms clean. We will be back.

"Good basic hotel "
Wicklow142, 29 Novembre 2017

I stayed here for a week in October while in the area on business. Pros: friendly staff, clean and spacious room, good internet, close to amenities in Stanford shopping centre Cons: located on busy road, nearby train line is quite noisy, no bar/lounge/restaraunt area for evenings Overall I had a very pleasant stay. Light sleepers may be affected by noise from the train but I got used to it very quickly.

"Notes Dame vs Stanford Game"
Sarah L, 25 Novembre 2017

My husband and I checked in after 11pm dr bing from San Diego County for the Notre Dame Stanford game. Paras checked us in and was there during breakfast and he was so nice. He reassured us if we needed anything or needed us to change our room after we got in there to just let him know. We had a small problem with the mattress but didn't want to bother him and it wasn't a huge deal to us. He just wanted to let them know for the new guests. Paras wanted to be sure our stay was comfortable and was super friendly. He assured us in the morning he wanted our stay to be the best even though we stayed with a Best Western free night. He was super genuine and made this hotel stay that much better.

"cute!"
Jenifer J, 12 Novembre 2017

The room was clean and well organized. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast included all the essentials and was clean and well laid out. Cute, boutique hotel. We will stay again if in the area. Just a warning - it sneaks up on you and I drove past it once...

"Awesome staff and very nice hotel!"
588janines, 29 Octobre 2017

The staff were so nice and friendly. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was good, with a wide variety of foods (bagels, waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, fruit, etc). We will stay here again!

"5 star value"
Cheryl R, 23 Octobre 2017

This is my third stay at this hotel. Their best price over the last two months for a cancelable king bed has been $159. When I see this rate on the night we go to Stanford Cancer Center, I always reserve this hotel first. I make it a point to check in as early as possible. Ground floor rooms have renovated. Super clean nice rooms. Very comfortable bed, soft towels, comfy perfect pillows. Great tv with HBO & Cinemax. 2nd floor not done yet. You really want ground floor. Get there late you might be stuck on the 2nd floor. Monday - Thursday 3 hour happy hour free wine beer food. Free great buffet breakfast. 5 star value when you can get $159 room with king size bed.

"Best Western poor customer service"
aritxag, 23 Octobre 2017

This best western hotell is considered Very Very poor. Very poor water pressure. hair in the clean towels, bathtub didnt drain, staff did not care, and manager is unethical. They do not care and use terminology that we can not define to justify unethical activety.

"Very Clean Rooms & Property"
NikkiRap, 19 Octobre 2017

Ended up at this hotel after a hotel nearby didn't have the room available that we booked. We were very happy to be moved to this Best Western. While we did not utilize the pool area, our room was directly above it and provided a good view. It was extremely clean and offered lots of seating. The room itself had comfortable beds, a TV, ample room in the mini-fridge and a large bathroom that was also very clean. I would recommend staying here! Especially if you plan to attend a Stanford game, as we did, since it is in walking distance.

"Too expensive"
docwscott, 14 Octobre 2017

It may be because it was in Palo Alto, but we were paying too much because it was the only one available close to our daughter as we faced mandatory evacuations from the Santa Rosa fires. Probably better than your average motel with very helpful staff. Toilet did not work on arrival. Had this not been reported?

"Clean"
thomashE4384MC, 01 Octobre 2017

Great location with under ground parking. Older building that has been updated. 2 patio chairs and table by front door of room. Close to El Camino Real so traffic noise in daytime quiet at night. Lots of bath sink counter space.

"Clean Friendly Hotel"
Paula S, 10 Septembre 2017

Clean Friendly comfortable hotel. Morning breakfast was outstanding. Great hotel highly recommend. Internet is very good. In room coffee. comfortable beds. Close to shopping and restaurants. Covered parking with elevators.

"Perfect location"
dorisb396, 20 Août 2017

Keeping in mind that this is Silicon Valley this is wonderfully located and the staff here will go out of their way to help make your stay go smoothly. If you want a bargain this whole area is not going to fit your budget but Best Western Plus Riviera goes out of its way to satisfy.

"Close to downtown & Stanford"
L4297BWmichellem, 25 Juillet 2017

Close, inexpensive, quality. Staff very helpful. Breakfast awesome, parking easy. Would stay again especially if going to see Stanford. Right down the street. Many close places to eat, mall very close.

"Nice pool"
Nedra R, 25 Juillet 2017

Nice feel over all the parking is tricky and limited We had nice nights rest the TV remote did not work and the coffee was cold in the morning at the breakfast. We will stay again as over all a nice place

"Awful hotel experience - stay away!"
mkins, 24 Juillet 2017

I want to fair by saying that many of the hotel staff were very kind and helpful. However, there are some serious deficiencies with this property. The room floor was filthy, never even vacuumed properly despite requesting. Hair in tub never cleaned, I watched as one cleaning person took unknown items back and forth to a man waiting in her car in the parking area when she was supposed to be cleaning. The first room we were given had feces in the toilet with the toilet running/broken when we entered the room. The first room we were given had feces in the toilet with the toilet running/broken when we entered the room. They kindly offered another room. The second room floor was filthy, never even vacuumed properly despite requesting. Hair in tub never cleaned, I watched as one cleaning person took unknown items back and forth to a man waiting in her car in the parking area when she was supposed to be cleaning. The sink stopper was broken so water would not drain. We called maintenance and the fix was to remove the stopper completely since they did not have a part to fix it. The rooms are extremely noisy, especially early in the morning due to the hotel sitting right on top of highway 82 (El Camino Real). Many other reviews have pointed this out. We did not mind that much though. They leave earplugs in the rooms. Do yourself a favor and find a better property in the area.

"good location but noisy"
barbrai2014, 09 Juillet 2017

Location was good for Stanford Medical Center visit. On El Camino, so there was a lot of noisy traffic. The room was nice & clean upon arrival.Decent breakfast buffet. The comfort of the bed could have been better. The staff was nice enough. Good value for basic stay.

"Stay for Standford University"
Carlin R, 09 Juillet 2017

This was a nice place to stay while visiting Standford California University. The BW was close to shopping, the university and convenient. Helpful staff, good breakfast. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. There is a small workout room. Each room has a nice balcony table and chairs.

"Great service! Staff very friendly and courteous. Great location in Palo Alto. Great value!"
Silvana B, 06 Juillet 2017

Glad we found this hotel so close to Palo Alto and Stanford Shopping Center, Stanford University and Stanford Hospital. We walked to University Avenue and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Would stay here again!

"Very comfortable. Good value."
elizabethrK1073UU, 04 Juillet 2017

Covers all the basics very well. Friendly, clean, comfortable... safe and convenient location, and a little bit of charm. Great value for us. Our family has used this hotel several times and very happy to return.

"June 30,2017 stay"
276helenas, 02 Juillet 2017

Great stay and close to Stanford Hospital. Great to have a comfortable sofa in the room. Food available within walking distance. Loved the chocolate chip cookies on arrival. Staff very friendly and helpful!

"Stay for appointment at Stanford Hospital"
M2366JZjudyp, 29 Juin 2017

Great accommodations and great staff. Not luxurious but comfortable and nice. Love the grounds. The location in relation to the hospital are paramount to our picking this hotel. A lack of eating establishments near by is a draw back.

"Close to everything but not the greatest service for this money"
Mashlyz, 25 Juin 2017

The hotel is close to Palo Alto, University ave. and Stanford (walking distance) but the service is not the greatest. While I was there, the sauna was broken although at the check-in they told me that it's working, spa never got cleaned (check the picture) and pool was always in leaves (didn't bother me much, but still). The worst was the service though, there was only 1 girl at the reception who was nice and smiley, the rest seemed very unhappy about something and never said hello or anything else. Another major minus is that it's on a very busy road (El Camino) so I had to use ear plugs to sleep, otherwise it's very noisy. Breakfast is nice though, I especially liked the waffles.

"Value for money, ok for a quick stay"
nette619, 14 Juin 2017

Stayed for 3 nights w hubby and 2 teenage boys. Went for convenience and proximity to Stanford since we will be out anyway we just needed a place to crash after a long day. Appreciate that bfast was included. Though the choices were basic there was an effort to make it balanced and varied each day. The free freshly baked cookies upon our arrival was also a sweet touch plus all day coffee/tea. Signs of hotel's age showed on the exteriors but the seeming new nteriors made it feel bit homey. Surprised to discover that the A/c was located away from the beds and near the sink area which was separate from the shower area. A/C worked well nonetheless. Carpet seemed old and worn and needed serious cleaning. My biggest concern- the hotel was too near the road and we didnt see a security personnel or guard so we were quite concerned about safety and security. Nothing untoward happened thankfully. Some staff were warm and helpful some not. Again this hotel is ok for a quick stay as it provided all the basics.

"Nice clean reasonable hotel"
danielpO6043UK, 12 Juin 2017

Great stay, nice clean reasonable Hotel, fair Contiental Breakfast, close to shopping center. Great WiFi and cable service. Would recommend to family and friends. Free parking was a plus. Swimming pool was reather small but nice, pool area very clean.

"Worst Best Western I've ever stayed at so far!"
charlenebF2652SL, 02 Juin 2017

The staff were rude, unprofessional and unfriendly. The room smelled horrible, the floors were filthy and the maids never changed the sheets after 3 nights; even though I requested clean sheets each day. They told me they didn't even have 1 clean sheet to give me to use over the top of the dirty sheets. The electrical outlets didn't work in the bathroom and they told me they would fix them & they didn't. This made it tougher to get ready on time in the morning for my appointment. The smoke alarm in my room was covered with a shower cap and the room smelled disgusting. When I told the front staff this they shrugged their shoulders and did nothing about it. The pool was closed for the first 2 days even though I was told at the time of booking that it would be open. The traffic noise was terrible all day and night and the parking garage below was unacceptable. The clearance was so low that we hit our heads and the trunk hit the ceiling when we tried to load and unload the car. Overall the hotel was dirty, the breakfast was worse than crappy fast food and the staff were unprofessional at the least. I would never stay here again.

"Great Stay"
lisaaJ7268ID, 20 Mai 2017

This hotel is convenient to Stanford, Stanford Hospital, Stanford Mall and Palo Alto. Parking is easily accessible with no fee. The rooms are clean, the staff helpful, the breakfast is easy and stocked well with lots of variety.

"Ok place"
Inger R, 06 Mai 2017

Stayed here during a visit to a course at Stanford University. Expensive hotel for the standard, but in the range of similar hotels in the area. Clean and spacious room. The breakfast was very simple.

"hotel"
williamsD7534GD, 27 Avril 2017

Very close to Stanford Hospital. Short but nice stay. My husband was in the hospital and I needed a nice close place to stay. This was right around the corner. We love Best Western hotels because they always seem to be nice with nice beds. This hotel was very nice and in keeping with Best Western. The breakfast was nice.

"Loud Hotel with rude staff"
ReneeButcher, 19 Avril 2017

If you want rude staff to treat you horribly and you want a room where your door don't shut and the staff doesn't care and a crappy night's sleep with a hard bed and nasty overused pillows. stay here. You will have the best night ever.

"Easy Uber to Stanford campus"
Mansongal, 12 Avril 2017

The hotel is close to Stanford Mall and an easy uber ride to campus. The room was a little tired, but clean enough. The main issue is the noise from the highway and trains that run across the street from the hotel. Nice touch to have ear plugs on the nightstand. Breakfast was great. Good choices and hot coffee. The Stanford Arms hotel is across the street with a full service restaurant and bar. For the price, an Ok stay in this super expensive area.

"Close to Stanford"
JulieCandfamily2014, 26 Février 2017

This hotel is close to Stanford Mall. Unfortunately it was noisy on main road and honking often from I believe the Caltrain. Sheets were quite worn, requested a change for other nights and got better ones. Nice choices for breakfast. Free parking.

"Hospital Stay"
405desireef, 14 Février 2017

Good safe environment. Would definitely stay here again. Continental breakfast was above expectations. Room was clean and comfortable. Easy to find and close to Stanford and downtown. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. I will stay here again and highly recommend this facility.

"Limited Parking"
t y, 21 Décembre 2016

Room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. Rooms are elevated with parking underneath rooms. Hallways are kinda loud when people walk past. Small driveway leading to limited spots and 7 foot clearance. Good location for hotel. Internet worked really well.

"Comfortable and convenient stay"
557sujathak, 15 Décembre 2016

Very good service . Located close to Stanford hospital and the mall made it very convenient for us. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. It was good place for the price. I would recommend this place for all practical purposes.

"NOT if you want to sleep."
Brent H, 22 Novembre 2016

Nice staff, average facilities, but the problem is it is right on El Camino Real which is a 4 four lane highway so there is a lot of traffic noise all night long. I can live/sleep with traffic noise but there is also a TRAIN TRACK CROSSING 100 yards away and the train BLOWS ITS WHISTLE EVERY TIME IT CROSSES, which is about every 13 minutes Maybe it slows down in the middle of the night but it still woke me up six times last night. You decide.

"Great experience during a stressful time"
Jennifer W, 12 Novembre 2016

From the info I gathered, this is the cheapest hotel that is a reasonable walking distance from downtown Palo Alto. Seriously! (It's still absurdly expensive due to the location.) I thought a Best Western would be super basic but it was actually really nice and comfortable, and the hotel staff (all of them!) couldn't have been more helpful or friendly (but not in the over-the-top annoying way). This worked out great for me because I'd come from Australia to find an apartment in Palo Alto and certainly didn't need to be dealing with any hotel problems. Breakfast was sufficient. There were complimentary fresh cookies, which will make me smile any day.

"Family Visit"
DavidNolanCook, 18 Octobre 2016

I stay here because a family member lives blocks away. This is a great little facility located near some of the most high end real estate, shopping, Stanford University and tech companies. It is squeezed between major street El Camino and the RR tracks, so there can be some noise, but not excessive. The rooms and lobby/breakfast area have been recently remodeled. The staff is the best - very helpful! There is a good variety of breakfast options. If you need to be in this area, this is a great moderately priced choice. The rates do vary during different days of the week, so check in advance.

"Nice Best Western near Palo Alto and Stanford"
Karen S, 26 Septembre 2016

This is a nicely updated Best Western located right near the Stanford campus. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Loved the pool! Free parking and internet access. It all makes this a great choice when you need to stay near Palo Alto and Stanford.

"Wonderful Find!"
paulsZ5426SW, 19 Septembre 2016

This Best Western was a wonderful discovery and the price was very good. The desk service was friendly and efficient and the motel itself was everything we want when we travel- clean, attractive, affordable and accomodating. We certainly will stay there again when we go to Palo Alto. P. and P. S.

"Don't go"
Marshall S, 16 Septembre 2016

Service was unprofessional and uncaring. Hot water was very disappointing one day with no explanation. Room was left unserviced one day and on another housekeeping forgot to close the door. Stay here at your own risk!

"San Francisco - Palo Alto visit"
Nancy M, 16 Septembre 2016

Convenient location - close to public transit station and shopping centre - did not have time to do shopping even the shopping centre is just next door. Recently renovated property; clean and relative comfortable bed. Good breakfast selection. Will stay again.

"Perfectly imperfect home away from home."
Cecelia P, 14 Septembre 2016

Yet another lovely visit at the BW Riveria in Menlo Park, so welcoming, so warm, and authentically gracious. Josie remember us at checkin, and was remember us. It feels like it matters that we came back. Extra blanket and extra pillow were fresh and clean.Check out was breeze and that breakfast was fresh and well balanced. It is not post, but it's clean welcoming, and well managed. We love the people and clean comfortable setting.

"motel stay"
Raymond O, 09 Septembre 2016

great place to stay when visiting Stanford, just a couple of blocks from the campus. It was also accessible to the 101 freeway, Google, and Apple. The main area of Palo Alto was also just a couple of blocks away. The pool looked inviting, but we did not have the time to go in.

"Nice overnight"
Carrie H, 15 Août 2016

Stayed one night for an early appointment at Stanford Medical Center. Very convenient--took less than 10 minutes to drive there. Short walk to Stanford Shopping Center as well. The outside looks pretty dated as far as the design--definitely a 50's/60's style building with outside entry rooms, but they have flowers and little tables outside the rooms and that helps with the atmosphere. Room was small but clean and surprisingly modern given the outside appearance. I would stay again for a night, but for multiple nights would find a roomier place.

"Great location and a lovely room"
Roxane1464, 14 Août 2016

We chose the hotel based on its proximity to Stanford Medical Center. Located directly on a busy street and with a typical 1950 appearance, we didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be terrific. The rooms are modern, nicely appointed, and very comfortable, with a microwave and a refrigerator, as well as Bath and Body Shop toiletries. We didn't have a chance to use the fitness room or try the continental breakfast, but both are available. The staff said they are updating the exterior. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to University Avenue where there is a fine selection of shops and restaurants. Some guests might fine the traffic on the street outside and the regional train a bit loud, but we had no trouble sleeping in the comfortable bed. We also greatly appreciated the helpful and professional staff.

"Location is excellent, albeit noisy and busy"
craigdub, 18 Juillet 2016

Overall, I would stay here again. It is an older property but kept up well with an expansive breakfast included. I travel a fair amount to the Bay Area for work and family and prefer other properties (Dinah's), but the rooms have been redone to be a bit more modern and everything works here. So if your days are busy and this just a place to crash I can recommend. If you are looking to spend considerable time here, choose somewhere else. Positives: Location off of El Camino Real, close to Stanford, Palo Alto and Menlo Park Expansive breakfast - waffles, eggs, juice etc. - would be good for kids Negatives Difficult access off of El Camino where you enter into the garage Wireless internet went down, but staff responded quickly Noisy with CalTrain and street noise, but earplugs are included

"Reliably clean, comfortable, gracious, good location"
Cecelia P, 24 Juin 2016

This is a well maintained, well managed home away from home. Cookies in the evening, a hot breakfast, lovely staff, and nice attention to detail, make this a nice stay. Close to Stanford, it is not a luxury hotel, it is very reliable, very comfortable, and the thoughtfulness of the staff is beyond compare. I highly recommend a stay here.

"Clean and friendly"
User, 03 Juin 2016

Very friendly staff and clean, comfortable room. Bathroom was very nice size with big counter. Bed was very comfortable. We were later to breakfast and a lot of stuff was gone but still a good selection. A maintenance worker offered help as I was unpacking the car and refused a tip. He was so helpful and friendly!

"Convenient Location Close to Palo Alto"
garyt223, 15 Mai 2016

I rented a bike during my stay. The desk clerk, Kat, did a great job handling drop-off and pickup of the bike and putting me in a room that provided easy access for the bike. She also made sure my room was ready for early check-in.

"Close to Stanford Hospital"
Nathaniel G, 04 Mai 2016

For us, the location was the most important factor. My wife had an 8 am appointment at a Stanford Hospital clinic. I didn't want to fight rush hour traffic to get there on time. The Best Western was less than 2 miles away. The hotel was clean. The free breakfast even had eggs, bacon and waffles, not just rolls and coffee. My only complaint was the sensitive door key card. It took me many tries each time I entered the room..

"Great time"
Larry P, 05 Avril 2016

Best Western in Menlo Park was a perfect fit for us. Clean room, excellent location and good breakfast. My wife and I were very satisfied. It was a perfect location to where we wanted to be. I highly recommend Best Western

The hotel is very convenient to Stanford University. It is very clean and reasonable rates. Breakfast is very limited, and breakfast area is quite small. However, there is ample parking space. The staff is very helpful.

"Comfortable bed; good location, good breakfast"
Arnab B, 20 Mars 2016

The beds are very comfortable. I especially loved the breakfasts on Wednesday and Saturday. Very easy to uber to/from too. This was my second time staying; and I am sure I will stay at the same place again when I come back down to the Bay Area.

"Sagging Beds"
rebeccajoy, 29 Février 2016

People go to hotels to get a good nights sleep and when you walk into the room for the first time and see that the beds sag in the middle, you realize you are not going to get a good nights sleep. Notified the front desk and all they said was they would make a note of it and apologized. Beds should never have gotten to the condition they were in when we arrived.

"If you have family at Stanford- best place to stay"
Alice C, 25 Février 2016

I have had 2 different family members have to stay a week at Stanford Hospital. Both times I have stayed at Best Western Plus Riviera. Clean, very close to the hospital, friendly staff and they offer a discount if you have someone at the hospital. If I ever have to go again, I will return to Best Western Plus Riviera Menlo Park!

"one night at BW"
Margaret B, 23 Février 2016

Refrigerator loud, stain on ottoman, ;paint chipped on woodwork, priced high, toilet broke during stay, noisy. Close to University, Breakfast was poorly presented--Eggs/spinach probably had been previously frozen,

"Good for celiacs"
Jennifer J, 05 Février 2016

The friendly staff took my request into account for breakfast options safe for someone with celiac. They provided me with multiple safe and tasty options for my breakfast! Rooms were clean, check out and check in were easy and fast.

"not that noisy with earplugs"
yli147, 04 Février 2016

As mentioned in many other reviews, the rooms are too close to the road and railway so it could be noisy. It was the case that you could hear the train late at midnight or so. Admittedly I would have a poor sleep in such an environment, but with the provided earplugs I was able to sleep sound and tight. It is about 8-min walk from the Caltrain station -- a bit inconvenient if you don't have luggage. Otherwise it is fine.

"Nice Choice in Menlo Park"
DavidNolanCook, 15 Janvier 2016

We stay here because we can walk to my Aunt's house easily. That being said, it is a well kept facility with much recently remodeled. There is a good continental breakfast, and the rooms are nice. It is located between Camino Real and the RR tracks, so you will hear some noise but not excessive. The staff is well informed and helpful. There is a big difference in price between weekends and days - check several dates if you are flexible.

"Yours is a very, very bad hotel for business travelers"
eligold, 09 Décembre 2015

I had my first (and last) stay at the Best Western. I work for a well-known nearby tech company, and am frequently on business travel in the SF Bay Area. The Best Western is simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed at on business in the Bay Area. I unconditionally disrecommend it for business travelers, as do nearly all of my colleagues who have stayed there. It is astonishing that anyone can charge $250/night for such a hotel. * NOISE - The rooms are so noisy that Best Western literally provides earplugs. I've stayed at several other hotels on El Camino Real and near Caltrain. I've never seen any remotely this noisy before. Simply put, this hotel isn't noisy because of its location -- but because it appears to have single-paned windows and insufficient soundproofing. I came to work nearly every day tired and sleep-deprived -- the opposite of what you go to a business hotel for. * ONGOING CONSTRUCTION - When I came home on my third night, my hotel room absolutely reeked of an acrylic fume, like rubber cement. The smell was so strong that the hotel room was effectively uninhabitable. After conversation, the only hotel staff member on duty moved me to a room that was technically under construction. When I woke up in the morning, all of my clothing continued to reek of the pungent acrylic fumes. When I asked if they could find a way to clean my clothing before I left for work in 2 hours, they pointed me to a coin-operated machine that I could pay my own money for to remove the hotel's fumes. (It also didn't occur to their hotel front desk person - who never smiled - that as a business traveler, I might not be carrying several dollars in quarters around.) I ended up buying new clothing to wear for the day. I also e-mailed the manager to ask for the hotel to intervene and make it right. I did not receive a reply. If you are in Silicon Valley on business, do not try to save money staying here. Your time and sanity are too valuable.

"Clean, convenient, economical"
SactoJohn, 01 Décembre 2015

Each Thanksgiving I travel to Palo Alto and stay across the city border in Menlo Park at this hotel. It is a short walk to downtown Palo Alto from El Camino Real. The hotel is clean and well maintained. (They were painting railings during this visit.) There is a lot of highway noise and noise from a nearby commuter train. Overall it is a good place to sleep while visiting Palo Alto but not a destination in itself.

"Comfortable, quiet stay"
78arthurm, 28 Novembre 2015

The Best Western Riviera Motel in Menlo Park was comfortable and quiet. The room served our needs perfectly. Staff was outstanding for check-in and check-out...no complaints. The breakfast would have been nice, but did not fit in with our family gathering on this Thanksgiving celebration. Parking was easy.

"The Rooms were nice and clean"
George Z, 17 Novembre 2015

My stay was good the room could have had better lighting, sevice was good I'd stay again. The location was perfect, walking distance to Palo Alto , the train , Stanford for meals and entertainment. Breakfast was good and convenent , WiFi was a little hit and miss, parking was good very friendly staff

"Location, Location"
David K, 29 Octobre 2015

We stayed here in order to be close to Stanford campus. Indeed, we could walk across the shopping center and be on campus or drive a short distance to be there. This hotel is clean and comfortable. We had one of the rooms closest to the road and yet the road noise was not at all bothersome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were sparse but adequate. In summery, this hotel is pricey, but for the great location, it was worth it.

"Convenient, Clean, Friendly"
Margie B, 26 Septembre 2015

We were in Palo Alto for medical reasons which required a place to stay near Stanford Hospital for two nights. The staff was very professional and accommodating to our needs. The rooms were clean with all the necessary amenities.

"Complimentary earplugs in rooms!"
onebusinesstraveler, 09 Septembre 2015

Unless you are really desperate (ie no other possible options), I would strongly discourage staying here. I/my company paid over 300/night, and I certainly expected more than a roadside motel with the doors to each room opening to the outside, and literally less than 25 yards from a busy/loud road. Traffic starts at 530. So be prepared to use the earplugs provided on each bedside table. The only reason for 2 stars vs 1 star is that it's close to Stanford. Otherwise, I feel certain that no one in their right mind would choose to stay here.

"Medical Dr Appt"
Sabrina S, 09 Septembre 2015

Loved the location Staff very helpful with directions and dinner places. Right next to a great shopping mall. Stanford Shopping Rooms very large new decorated very clean nice and the beds & pillows very comfy. Free Wifi that really works fast and simple to log into. Swimming pool was clean and nice balcony bistro seating. Easy to get to Dr. Appt

"Nothing great for the price"
ocskina, 25 Août 2015

CONS: Very poorly lit parking area, felt unsafe. Not enough parking spots for hotel guests. Walk way to rooms was not well lit. We had a corner room which was pitch black out front. A/C kept turning off. Walls are very thin and you can hear every noise around/above you. PROS:Room was clean and a good size. Staff was nice at check in and check out Close to shopping and restaurants

"Dirty"
Jane W, 24 Août 2015

I stayed here one night because It was close to Stanford Medical. I didn't check in til Midnight, exhausted from a long day and found the room to be dirty. Mostly the bathroom which had long black hair in the shower and at least 20-30 hairs on the bathroom floor. I called the front desk and she apologized and asked if she could bring some towels to lay on the floor. I told her no I will do it myself. I was too tired to wait for someone to come. She said there were no rooms available to transfer to. I woke at 6am to check out and when I mentioned it to the person at the front desk she said that they have been having problems with hiring housekeepers and had hired an outside service to do it but they aren't doing a good job. They didn't offer any discounts and I paid 240.00 for the night which supposedly is the hospital discount!! It is obvious that they don't have anyone doing quality control. Good location but I chose to stay elsewhere the next night.
