"Clean room"

Clean room very hot water. Breakfast included with the basics lots of carbs. Near shopping and restaurants. Friendly staff inside access to rooms and some have outside access. Fitness room and outdoor pool (closed for winter). Pet friendly

"Tired but clean (kinda)"

Like all roadside motels over twenty years of age this is showing its age. The lobby is okay but needs some new furniture. The rooms are as expected with a good bed. Go here with realistic expectations and you will be fine.

"Very comfortable , good value"

We were given a room in a separate building from the main hotel which we didn't like at first but it was a short walk to the lobby which didn't really matter. We were there 4 nights on business. The staff was very friendly. The room had been restored and was really nice. The breakfast room was nicely furnished and the food selection was far greater than most hotels that have continental breakfast.

Hotel was quiet, clean, smoke free, decent mattress not too firm, friendly. Great stop over on the way to the smokies. Breakfast included omelets, nice. Definitely a 5 star for the price point (nothing glamorous but no surprises).

"Musty wet room"

Hello, I am a long time loyal Rewards Point customer and we visit the Best Western in Hickory, NC at least twice per year. We checked into room 112 on Saturday Oct 6. When we arrived, the room had a very strong peachy potpourri smell. I went to the front desk and spoke to a woman and explained the concern. She said, "Oh my, they must have had a heavy hand when using the room freshener. I said, "OK" thinking room freshener would go away in a day. But no....it continued. Next day I mentioned it to the front desk, John, and he showed me the room freshener used, it was a spray bottle. I smelled it and it was a clean lemon smell, not the smell of peachy potpourri, not the same. I also had the pleasure of not taking a shower one morning because the water in the shower was brownish red. When mentioned to front desk John, they said yes, Hickory is famous for doing repair work and not letting us know but don't worry it would go away soon. I could not wait, I had a meeting to attend. As we were leaving, a maintenance worker was coming into the room with a little square pouch that he began to open. I said "WHOA" what is that, he said it was room DEODERIZER and that it is placed inside of the AC UNIT??!! It smelled just like the 3 day smell I had endured, the peachy potpourri smell. So to summarize, the carpet is dirty and they need to update the place. Rooms are damp and I think they put the peachy potpourri package in the AC Unit to try o cover up the wet musty smell . You do not put such a thing in the AC unit, you could burn the place down. Very unsatisfied and felt they did not give me honest answers.

The city of Hickory was working in the area causing the brownish water at our property and also affected others along this road. As far as the humidity in the rooms, this area has been extremely humid from all the rain and storms that has come to this area. We are working hard to find a solution for this issue. We do hope that next time you are in the area you will come back and see us and give us another chance.

"Great Dog Friendly Hotel"

Needed a quick stop over for a night that was dog friendly and this place did the trick. Upon check in we were greeted by the friendly staff and even given a treat for the four legged guest. Our room showed a little bit of wear but and there seemed to be an issue with humidity (when we woke up in the morning my sons homework papers were very wet as was his baseball glove and our clothes). Other than that small issue the room overall was very clean. The staff goes out of their way to treat everyone (dog included) like family. Great for a quick overnight stay.

"Good value stay"

The only issue is that many of rooms are external doors so as long as you are comfortable with that it is a good deal. The service was outstanding, very friendly, quick to respond and do what ever they could to help. Location was very good to restaurants and central to Hickory.

Easy to get to this property and overall appearance is very nice. Big front Libby and nicely lit parking lot. Friendly staff and very efficient. Rooms were nice and plenty of parking. Nice pool area. Beds comfortable and nice bathroom. Very clean. Megan at the front desk was delightful and very nice.

"staying because we left because of hurricane"

when we got there the front desk girl was so helpful the room we had booked was out of service so put us in another room and it raining so much the walls around where the air contitioner was water came in soked the floor so we had to move again but the staff was right on top of it and made it so easy

"Nice for a short stay"

My partner and I stayed here one night for a wedding. The room was clean and appropriate for a short stay- no frills. Lobby was clean. One thing to note is that some of the rooms are accessible from outside which is nice because you can park in front of your room (kind of like a motel) but some people may be uncomfortable with that for safety concerns as it is on ground level.

This hotel was very nice, and clean. Very comfortable to stay in, off the main road, but still within distance of everything. Staff was very polite. The guy who checked us in (think his name was John) was funny and efficient.

"Mixed feelings, but good value for options"

I stayed with a group traveling on business and would have mixed feelings about staying at this hotel again when back in town. For us hotel selection was based first on geographic proximity to job then rate as it would be a business expense. Overall the stay was pleasant and our interactions with the staff were excellent. The hotel has a mix of indoor and outdoor access rooms. Based on mixed bed choices, my impression is that only 1 King bed rooms have building interior access, which I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time. There were significant thunderstorms 1 night of our two night stay. The covered walkway was not deep enough to protect from moisture and significant puddling happened in sections of the walkway. Secondly, one night of our stay members of our party had difficulty sleeping due to other guests congregating loudly outside and the odors of their cigarette smoke came in through the AC units despite closed doors. The property shows recent efforts to some cosmetic upgrades, but still feels very dated. Overall, I would likely not choose this hotel again, but if budget is a primary motivator for other guests, rates are fair for accomodations under $100/night.

"Great place to stay."

We stayed here overnight. The people in the office were great. Offered lots of help. I had a show to do and my Husband was there with our dog. They let us stay an extra hour. That helped us out a lot. Great beds and breakfast. I would stay here again.

Trying to dodge the rain....stumbled on BW and checked in....got to our room, unloaded our bags and went to get on our motorcycles to go eat & "the bottom fell out". Called front desk....Cutie & John were VERY helpful with restaurants who delivered! Breakfast was the best of any hotel we've ever stayed at. A must visit Best Western!!

Stop in Hickory after riding the Blue Ridge, place was clean and the service was good. We went to the pool to refresh after a few hours on the bike, felt good. Breakfast was just like most hotel but the place you eat in was very nice. Would stop again if in the neighborhood.

Enjoyed the stay at Best Western of Hickory NC on 6/17/2018. Friendly and courteous staff made my stay here very pleasant. Rooms are very clean and neat. I booked the king bed room number 225 at the end of the corridor at the back next to the vending machines and ice box entrance. There is a lot of traffic through this entrance and became a little bothersome at times. I do believe that the price per night for this room should be more competitive and offered at a lower rate. I do like how easy it is to book online and how Best Western will match a competitor's price in the event that there's a similar room at a lower price. I really enjoyed the complimentary snacks that are available in the lobby, the cookies and popcorn is a favorite. The receptionist checked me into the hotel very quickly, and gave me the 411 of the grounds, layout, and what numbers to call for service. Within 30 minutes of getting settled in the room, I got a check up call to make sure everything was in order, and was instructed to call the front desk if I needed anything. The room is very clean and organized. I like the mini fridge and microwave in the room, it is very convenient. The bathroom has a lot of counter space with one sink in the middle and a very large mirror. Decorations and choice of colors on the walls made it pleasant. The king size bed and the pillows are comfortable and fluffy. Housekeeping personnel are very helpful and courteous, and did everything I requested for full service of the room. The entire staff treated me with urgency and professionalism. The outside patio was great spot to relax after 5 pm, when it's the grown-ups turn at the swimming pool. Breakfast consisted a variety of boxed cereals with choice of whole or 2% milk, fruit juice, warm waffles from waffle iron, muffins, breads, fruits, yogurt with toppings, coffee. There's also a selection of microwavable pre-packaged foods in the fridge such as breakfast burrito, Jimmy Dean bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits, hard boiled eggs, variety of yogurts and other items that I didn't get a chance to see. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and look forward to returning to this location in the future.

"My home away from home"

This is one of my favorite hotels of all time. I stayed here for about a month when I was getting settled in the area. Unfortunately, I had to leave and I couldn't stay in North Carolina, but this hotel made every day worth while. All of the people I've ever dealt with here have been friendly and helpful. Most of them are like family to me. I'd like to say a special thanks to Chanel, Amy, Marie, John, Teressa, and Megan. You are all wonderful people who treated me like a resident instead of a guest. I was really upset when I had to leave because I got to know all of you so well and it really hurt to have to say goodbye. With that being said, this will be my ONLY hotel choice in the Hickory area. The hotel is really clean and the rooms are comfortable at a fair price. I will definitely return again and again.

Stopped here on our way to Greenville, NC. Arrived late, but were greeted warmly by John. His service was gracious and friendly. Kids loved the milk and cookies in the lobby. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was just okay. Need two waffle makers :)

We were in Hickory unexpectedly for a funeral and were traveling with our dog (which was a first time experience for us). We had selected another hotel (Days Inn off Fairgrounds Road) which was a disaster! Even our dog was nervous there. Upon seeing the hotel and the room, we were very uncomfortable (old, dirty, smelly with no guests and strange things happening in the parking lot) so my daughter immediately started looking for another hotel. The Best Western popped up as pet friendly and we called the hotel. We received a pleasant welcome and were advised to come check out the hotel. We reloaded the car and headed their way. We liked it immediately. The hotel had curb appeal and was in a nice area. The staff were warm and welcoming. We were allowed to check out one of the pet friendly rooms and took it! It was more than adequate and included breakfast which was one of the best hotel self service breakfasts that we have ever experienced—even the coffee was good! It was also a great deal (even had a nice pool and workout room which we did not have time to use). What was not to like! I joined the rewards program and added BW to my list of hotels for consideration when traveling! We would definitely stay here again —even with out a pet!

"There in a pinch"

We've stayed at the Best Western a couple of times. It is one of the few places that allow dogs (fee). The room was small, but clean and in reasonably good shape. The lobby is ship shape, well staffed with friendly and helpful people. Even though it was 30-40 mins from Lake James (where we were visiting on business) it was worth the stay. Future return trips will include the pooch and Best Western.

This place is a good value for the money, just a bit outdated. If you just need a place to shower and sleep, just off the highway, this fits the bill. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast was minimal.

We spent 2 nights at the BW while in town for baseball games. The staff was wonderful from the time we walked in the door until the time we left. Hotel is clean, well maintained, breakfast was a very night perk. Will certainly be staying there again soon when in Hickory

This place was a most pleasant surprise. The lobby was spotless, the staff was super nice and rooms were very clean. The grounds we're clean. The towels actually smelled wonderful. Breakfast was a little so-so but the dining area was open and clean. I would stay here again for sure.

We stayed in King & double adjoining room for 6 nights while in town for a family wedding. Fabulous customer service at check in and throughout stay! Rooms were newly updated and exceptionally clean! The beds were comfortable with new clean linens and pillows. The pool area was also very clean with new tables, chairs, loungers and umbrellas. Good breakfast with lots of options- biscuits & gravy yum!!! Second floor exterior entry was not an issue. It was a little noisey a couple of times with highway nearby but only noticed during high traffic times. I have traveled a lot over years for personal and business and found this to be an exceptional stay for overall cost. We will definitely stay here next visit back!

"Itsy bitsy spiders"

Prior to physically checking in, I received an email giving me the opportunity to check-in online. I chose that option but once I arrived, I basically had to fill out the same info that I had filled out online so I didn't see the point of the email check-in option. Upon arriving in my room, I inspected it like I would any other hotel room. I turned one lamp on and found a spider underneath the lamp shade. Turned another lamp on and found a spider on top of the lamp shade, along with it's web. Spotted a baby beetle on the curtain in which I almost mistaken it for a bed bug. Reported this to the front desk and the staff offered to go and kill the bugs for me but that was all she could do because they were booked. The appliances seem to be updated and the bed linings were comfortable. The mattress was a little firm. The continental breakfast was average.

"Loved it"

Very nice place!! Staff was friendly and helpful. We appreciated fresh coffee in the afternoon as well as fresh popcorn popped. Breakfast was nice too. I would definitely recommend this place. We travel with our Yorker, and they made sure to place us in a room on the end, and away from a lot of noise.

"The hotel that never disappoints."

Clean rooms, no weird smells, plumbing is up to date and fully functioning, and the rooms all look brand new. Full breakfast, big comfortable eating area, and room to visit in the lobby. Great staff who are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Whenever my family visits Hickory, this is where they stay. Best hotel in hickory.

"Above average for the price"

For hotels in the area that offer the government rate I would rate BW above average. The room was comfortable and fairly clean. I did find some small items on the floor that were missed during the last cleaning. The bed was comfortable, breakfast had good choices and the staff was friendly through the process.

Great location as close to food, shopping & interstate. Friendly staff. Good value as BW member. Many breakfast choices.clean & comfy room. The only downside would be no elevator but was not a problem for us.

Hotel was very clean. Service was prompt. The sofa bed was broken. The staff had us in another room within 15 minutes. Breakfast area was well kept, clean, and stocked with the typical continental breakfast items. Very safe area and close to all kinds of restaurants and shopping centers. Compared with other motels in the area, this was an excellent value.

"Nice accomodations and helpful staff"

My wife and I spent one night recently at this hotel. Upon checking in we learned that there was no elevator to get to the second floor however John, at the front desk, was very accomodating and found a room on the first floor and was also located close to the handicapped parking spots which was extremely helpful. After checking out the next morning I realized a couple of hours away that I had left my watch in the room. I called and spoke to someone at the front desk and was informed that my watch had been turned in and they would mail it to me. I did receive my watch within a couple of days and am so appreciative of the housekeeping staff member who turned it in so that it could be returned. I would highly recommend the hotel. We were too late to eat breakfast the next day but there were still some things available for us to have. All of the staff that we dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Only could stay 8 hours had to keep moving. Very nice hotel in Hickory NC. Have stayed mostly with BW hotels whenever we travel. The rooms are very clean that's most important to us. The bed a little soft for my comfort, but not everyone likes a hard mattress. The shower and toilet area a bit small, but how much time so you spend in there. The customer service was excellent from when we checked in to when we left at 4:30 in the morning. Cindy who was at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating breakfast isn't served until 6 o'clock, but Cindy went and got some sandwiches to heat up in the microwave before we left.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. This was my first time saying a remodeled Best Western and I was not disappointed. The staff was fabulous...specifically Teresa! She is very knowledgeable of the area and great places to eat. The hotel is an older building, but has been refinished nicely and most importantly it was very clean. One down fall is there is no elevator which was odd to me. Not trying to be lazy, but pack lightly!

We stayed at Best Western in Hickory two nights and loved it...the rooms were immaculate, the staff was extremely helpful, the breakfast was decent, and the location was really good as well...very easy to find and close to restaurants and shopping...I had booked a 2 night stay and when I got to the hotel decided to change to one night...no problem...the next day decided to stay the second night and again no problem...I even found a cheaper rate from the time I booked until I checked in and they updated the lesser rate...I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and I'm always very pleased with everything. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The price is always fair. And the staff is always excellent. John is always pleasant and helpful. Teressa is kind and considerate. Amy has always taken care of everything I've ever needed here and always provides service with a smile. And Marie is like a wizard. She knows everything and she's always on top of things when I'm here. And she's super nice and we always talk for a while. I will definitely return again and again.

Staff was very helpful. Hotel is aged so not that brand new clean. It has average decor and cleanliness. Relatively easy access to and from freeway. Parking was adequate. Later check-in was easy and quick.

I booked online. Photos showed nice hotel. When I arrived, I was told that all indoor rooms were full, and I was given a second floor outdoor room. I paid for a nice hotel, what I got was a cheap motel. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel.

The staff here is very friendly. The rooms were clean but needed some TLC in the area of the appearance of the room. A little dated but inexpensive if your cost conscious. The rooms were a tad drafty as the weather was cooler when we stayed.

Not sure why the reviews are so amazing, but its an average hotel with wonderful staff. The rooms are clean, but very dated. Pealing wall paper, leaky faucets, dirty bathtub. Overall, its not bad. However, there is no hot breakfast. There is a fridge with cold sandwiches, cold eggs, cold burritos, so you can heat it up in a microwave. No made oatmeal, no made eggs/sausage like other BW hotels. Needs an update, but has the amazing staff to turn it around.

This was my first stay at this hotel and I was so pleased with everything. I stayed here 2 nights and I had to change rooms a couple times. But everything was taken care of in the best way possible. John was super nice about everything and helpful with places to eat. Marie was efficient and polite and answered all of my questions with hesitation. Teressa also took good care of me every time I came to the desk. And the housekeepers also made everything a lot better, too. But the person that deserves the most praise is Amy. I had a few problems with my rooms and she apologized for everything and gave me some extra points and I was very satisfied with how everything was taken care of. I will definitely return to this property. Outstanding stay

The Best Western Hickory NC is outstanding. They really make you feel welcome. The team goes the extra mile with their customer service. We always feel like we are at home while there. I know the hotel is not brand new but you don't need brand new when you get great service, amenities and have a place where you always feel like they want you to feel like you are in a home away from home. Stayed here one night traveling during holidays. Price was great and it was very clean and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were very pleased to see Silk soy milk as an option at the breakfast buffet. They also had Nuetella packets! Would definitely stay here again.

We stay here occasionally on date night. Clean rooms, very good staff, and a decent breakfast. It's typical hotel food, but you get a good variety. They have fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, frozen biscuits and burritos, cereal, waffles, etc. I will visit again soon.

Really like staying here. It is close to shopping and restaurants, but not in the middle of lots of traffic. We have stayed here multiple times and always had good service. Breakfast is the the usual fare for continental, but enough to start the day off quickly.

We stayed at the Best Western in Hickory with a group of High School students as we were competing the next day in the area. I had coordinated with Maria, sent her our room assignments and once we arrived, John checked us in; very smooth and easy. Restaurants are nearby, with different selections, Rooms, of course, are basic, but well maintained and comfortable. Wi-Fi was fast and stable. The staff at the breakfast buffet were friendly and attentive to us. We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western and we will be return guests.

"Caring Staff Make All the Difference"

It's obvious that the management of this hotel really cares. What they may lack in updates, they more than make up for with the attentive and helpful staff. This is not a high-end hotel, but you wouldn't know it by the way the staff takes pride in making sure their guests are well taken care of. For starters, when I made the reservation (more than a month before our stay), I had mentioned that we would need a roll-away. When we arrived in our room, the roll-away was waiting. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, linens looked and smelled extra fresh and clean, towels were good quality. The lobby is light and bright, and a nice place to sit and get work done. They have popcorn and cookies every evening. The breakfast was basic (waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, and individual egg dishes you could heat in the microwave). Overall, we all thought this hotel was a great value!

The staff here really bend over backwards to welcome you and make sure you have a nice stay. I was even called a little while after I checked in to ask if everything in my room was satisfactory. The hotel feels a bit on the older side, but the rooms are clean, and well maintained. The bathroom was a nice size with a generous counter by the sink, which I appreciated. The complimentary breakfast had quite a variety of items. The only down side is that it is close to the freeway, but if you turn up the fan on the AC, it covers most of the road noise.

Convenient location to highway exit I-40 in Hickory, N.C. Hotel is surrounded by sit-down and fast-food restaurants. Hotel room rated above average for room size, cleanliness and comfortable bed. Had a tornado come through our community. Roads closed and power was out many areas. Went to Best Western to get a room . The stay was excellent,we only had the clothes on our backs . "Good Hotel in Hickory"

The overall hotel experience was satisfactory. The only issue I encountered was a desk clerk named, John, who lied to my wife stating that I was not at the hotel. Then when he got caught on three-way he acted like it was another representative who lied. He said that he cannot confirm nor deny the existence of a guest at the hotel when people call. However, all he needed to do was inform my wife of this and say that he needs a room number, not say that I actually was not there.

This Best Western isn't the fanciest but the rooms have been recently remodeled and are very clean, the beds and linens very comfortable and the staff is exceptionally hospitable. "Clean, Comfortable and Close"

We decided to stay in Hickory since we were doing some hiking in the area. This hotel offered the best price/quality. After reading many reviews of various hotels this seemed like the best choice. After arriving I decided I had chosen correctly. The lobby was clean and nice smelling, the room was clean and comfortable. The a/c wasn't loud which was nice. Only issue I had was the refrigerator didn't have a small freezer for my ice pack. We had one problem with a remote not working but we called and within 5 minutes the lady had brought us a new one. I will say that this hotel has both rooms that enter from the outside and also rooms that enter from an inside hallway. We were put in a room that you enter from the outside walkway. The noise from the highway was rather loud at times which made it a little hard to sleep. The breakfast area is nice and open with lots of natural lighting. There were many choices from fresh fruit to breakfast sandwiches. The location was convenient to main street where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Old Hickory taproom. I think that was the name. Anyway, I would stay here again although would try to get a room on the inside where it would be a little quieter. Overall, great stay, convenient and comfortable.

Used this hotel many times in the past and believe it is clean and comfortable. In a central place giving access to many stores, restaurants, and malls. Hotel allows medium size dogs, and has plenty of parking for all vehicle types.

Nice location near many shops and restaurants. Enjoyed the clean room and hot breakfast. Plenty of parking for all types of vehicles. Look forward to our next trip to the area, hopefully we will have more time available to visit the Harley-Davidson dealership.

"Insects in room"

Found a 3 inch millipede in the bathroom. On closer examination we found dead bugs in the room. I had planned to sleep on the floor but had to abandon those plans. Complained to the front desk and they provided a rollaway cot. It was 11 pm and we decided to stay in the room rather than pack up and look for another hotel.

I have stayed at this particular Best Western a few times and plan to stay here more. Every time has been a good experience. Most importantly, I feel that this hotel is a great value. The rooms are comfortable and clean. TV and internet works well too. Each time I stay I have always felt safe and rested well. This hotel is located conveniently as well being just off of I-40 and near to good restaurants. Whether being on business or leisure if you are in the Hickory NC area Best Western would be a good option.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. I was traveling alone with my 2 daughters so I was looking for somewhere I would feel safe. I found that. We had no issues. The breakfast was great and my girls enjoyed the pool.

"Very attentive customer service"

We had a king room. It was very clean, pretty new, laid out well and very functional. The bed, bath, and tv were all good. We got a call from the front desk about 30 minutes after checking in just make sure everything was ok, which it was. The location is easy to find right off the highway. For us the best added touch was the early breakfast. It's scheduled from 6 to 10 am. When I told the front desk staff we would be leaving around 5 am the next morning, we were told breakfast would probably be available. It was completely ready when we went to the lobby at 5:15 am. That was a big deal for us, Thank You Best Western !

Have stayed at this property several times in the past two years, and each time has been a better experience than the last. Customer service is excellent as demonstrated by Theresa at the front desk . From our initial contact on the phone a couple days before arrival, to our welcome at the property, to the daily courtesy calls to our room, Theresa exhibited a level of customer service above and beyond the norm. The property is clean and well cared for, the rooms clean, hot water plentiful and the drains all work properly. All this adds up to its well-deserved Certificate of Excellence. Don't hesitate to stay there.

Very nice staff and nice place to stay. The internet didn't work well for us and the microwave breakfast wasn't as good as we expected. They do have waffles though which makes up for some of it. Right off the highway.

Great Job folks!! I highly recommend this Best Western in Hickory, NC. The service was Outstanding and cleanliness of this hotel was absolutely Awesome!! I am actually quite impressed, especially since Hickory, NC is a small town. I was there attending a business conference at the Hickory, NC Convention Center and the Best Western is walking distance from the Convention Center. HOO-AH!!!

"Great Location, Nice Hotel"

Marie made our first and return stays special. She's friendly, knowledgeable, professional and will share her knowledge of the area. Large, comfy rooms, good parking, right off Rt 40. A full hot breakfast is available 6-10am in an open sunroom area next to the lobby. We arrived back one afternoon tired from house hunting and were surprised to find warm cookies, the next day popcorn! There's a nice sunny pool area, great for families with children but we'd love to see the owner add a few tables and possibly a grill under the trees by the pool area. That would be a nice shady, quiet area to relax. We'll keep coming back until we find the perfect lake home and hope Marie will be here with her big smile and warm welcome! Thanks Marie.

A very good value with a great staff and really nice rooms. Plenty of close parking and easily accessible from the interstate without a lot of traffic noise. The breakfast was really good with good choices for our large family group and a nice dining area with a view to the outside, which isn't as common as we would like.Definitely well worth the price.

On the way to Nashville from Norfolk this place made an ideal halfway nightstop. Clean and tidy with comfortable beds and a well appointed room it was great value for money. It is slose to food places and near the highway making it the ideal rest stop.

Perfectly fine overnight stay off of I-40. Check in was quick, my internal room (they also have a building of external entrance rooms) felt safe and it was clean, comfortable and quiet. It met all my needs and I'd stay there again.

This is a clean well appointed property that is extremely comfortable but all of that fades in light of their amazing staff. In the last year I have stayed over 50 nights in hotel rooms in all different "star" ratings and this hotel has the finest, friendliest staff that I have ever encountered. Nice, updated lobby and breakfast area. Breakfast: 2 types of waffle makers to make fresh waffles. Had individually wrapped assortment of apples, bananas. Yogurt and cereal, breads. In fridge breakfast sandwiches available that could be put in microwave. Some rooms are in main lobby building . Carpeting looked fairly new. Other rooms have outdoor entrances . Carpeting a little worn in room we stayed in. I wanted to get a big suction vacuum cleaner and get some sand out of room carpet. Otherwise, fairly clean. Had microwave and fridge. Not bad for $82+ tax. Checkout noon. Beds were comfortable.

In a nutshell, I hope you have Terressa at check in and at departure. I stay in a lot of hotels, and I will have to say that this employee made this hotel visit 100% 5 STAR! We have stayed here multiple times and have always been pleased with our stay. The staff is friendly and will answer questions about things going on in the area. The rooms are clean. Hickory and the area offer lots of activities including outdoor concerts, racing, shopping, parks, and a farmers market downtown.

"Good Spot for 1 night"

I would stay again just for convenience, cost, safety and the courtsey! This was an average stay nothing to brag or compliment with the exeption of the customer service. They are very friendly but that doesn't change the age or design of the hotel. The downside is exterior doors to room which just make me uncomfortable at night. I stayed two nights and if I were to need to stay longer then I would prefer another hotel with interior.

"pleasantly surprised"

An older style two floor motel with mostly outside entry rooms the place seemed to have been recently refurbished. Super friendly desk staff. Room was very clean with no odors and carpeting, wallpaper, paint, and furnishings were “pristine” as the young desk clerk had stated. Price including taxes using our AARP discount was $93. A good way point for us when crossing the state. We'd stay again.

"A good night's sleep"

I stayed at this hotel when en route to Fayetteville, NC. I had driven further than planned, and was very tired and hungry. Since there was no restaurant in the hotel or nearby (that was still open), the clerk who checked me in was nice enough to give me a "to go package" that had snacks it, and got me through until morning. The room was comfortable, including the bed. I was able to get the sleep I needed to complete my trip. My only complaint was the cost. At $105 a night (after taxes), I felt it was overpriced.

We try to do a "get a way" from life its self. My Husband and I love staying at this hotel because its quiet. Its in a great part of the town. The staff (Hayden and Marq) made this trip easy and kept us comfortable. We will be staying there again.

"Expexted more"

Tub was backed up after one use. Husband had to fix fridge bacause of humming and door would not close all the way. Because the rooms were outside you could smell cigarette smoke from people all night. Enjoyable.

Made reservations with this hotel directly for 2 ground floor rooms because I was traveling with my elderly mother and mother in-law who both have bad legs but when I arrived the rooms were on the second floor and the staff said sorry they didn't have any ground floor rooms. I thought when you called and made reservations it meant those rooms would be ready for you when you arrive. NOT

The room was clean and very nice. It was also very quiet even though on the first floor. Complementary newspapers were available and the buffet breakfast was good with a nice selection. Best of all, it all cost only $88. Overall, there is nothing bad to say about this place.

"Very accommodating "

As soon as I walked in the lobby, I was greeted by a friendly desk manager (Marquez) who provided all the details about the hotel. It is in a nice location -- next door to several nice restaurants so no need to drive out for food. Room was comfortable. I had to leave before the scheduled breakfast and was provided a grab bag. Coffee machines were in lobby but to my disappointment, the coffee was cold. That was the only downside but hope to visit here again on my next trip to Hickory and try out the breakfast. Nice place!!

We stayed here and had a pleasant stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice amenities with a good free breakfast the next morning. Plenty of food choices and not all carbs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were quiet with no traffic noise so we had a good night's sleep.

"Who Knew This Was Here?"

What a pleasant surprise to find a Best Western in Hickory North Carolina. I had missed it on the Best Western website. This hotel was very clean and the beds were super comfortable and so appreciated after hiking all day. The breakfast was very good with waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt , juice,cereal, milk etc. One draw back was this hotel had packaged breakfast sandwiches instead of scrambled eggs and sausage. The dining area was large which was nice. Parking and check in were fast and easy. A special shout out to Cutie at the front desk. Yes, that is her name. She was so friendly and professional. She treated you like family coming to visit. I would definitely stay here again.

Staying at this hotel was a pleasant experience. It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and caring. Marq at check in was commendable making us feel welcome. The coffee was excellent! The room was clean, but decor was outdated. The breakfast area has a nice windowed room to sit in. Would recommend this hotel.

I and my family stayed here several nights while visiting the area. The room was very clean and the hotel had nice amenities. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast and the dining and lobby area had been recently updated. The beds were comfortable and we all got restful sleep each night we were there. There was hardly any noise to interfere with our sleep during our stay. Mini-fridge and microwave in the room and ice-machine in another section on same floor, but easily enough to access with our key cards. The only complaint was a few times there were guests smoking right outside our room, and an intake, I think, would bring the smoke odor inside the room. At any rate, breakfast offered a variety of menu items which were above average in taste and quality. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had really good accommodations for the price. Would definitely recommend this particular Best Western.

My husband and I have stayed at this Best Western hotel on numerous occasions and will keep going back. The staff is always friendly and efficient. The room is always clean and comfortable. Breakfast bar is better than most and they always have great coffee. Best room for my money!

We had Avery nice stay here. Spent one night just passing through. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was okay. Cold cereals, waffles, heat and eat breakfast sandwiches and such.

This was a welcome sight after a long drive and rain in the mountains. Very clean, staff very nice, great value. We were very pleased we'd stopped there. Although we were near the ice and soda machines, the room was very quiet. The breakfast lounge was very pleasant - a solarium type room, where we could watch the rain pour down and then decide to go back to sleep before leaving the hotel.

Pulled into hotel and discovered wallet missing. I had dropped it 70 miles back at a gas station. Thank God it was still on the ground near a gas pump. Angels were watchimg over it. This hotel stay was at late nighter and early leaving. Beds were great but not much other was experienced. Staff was very helpful during my wallet capper. They helped me stay calm and figure it out. A big thank you to the staff. God does do miracles.

"One night stay"

We had a problem with our car and weren't able to make it back to Charlotte in the dark so we stopped in Best Western. They were able to accommodate us with a clean room on the first floor not far from the front desk. They have early breakfast and a nice seating area to eat and watch the television. Nice stop over.

Made the reservation online and then called asking for early checkin. Marie at the front desk told me should not be a problem. Arrived 1 hour later and room was ready. Then I asked for a late checkout and again Marie was very nice and told me no problem. Upon checkout she even asked if everything was ok The staff at this best western is amazing Thank you all !!!!

This was my first time staying here. I was impressed with the hotel. The room was nice it was really clean the bathroom was also clean. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good. This hotel is not convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the purpose of our trip. The bathroom had old cracked caulking on top of previous old cracked caulking. The bathroom had an overall old and dirty appearance. The lighting did not have a high enough wattage to put on makeup comfortably.

"Don't Stay Here"

I checked in late while my husband and daughter stayed in the car. It took 20 minutes to talk to the front desk clerk because customer were disputing the room they were booked into. Checked in, went to the back entrance per the clerk's advice to get to our 2nd floor room. The back entrance was not secured. The room was clean, beds were hard with a comfy pillow-top mattress pad. At 2:30 a.m. there was persistent knocking at the door. The man said he was from "Security" and asked me to open the door. I opened it, but kept the latch on. Never do this! The man hid partially behind the wall, but I could see a navy blue uniform. He never showed a police or security badge or ID. He said that we had our "vents on" and they smelled marijuana from our room. Luckily, my husband came and stood behind me and the man just said, "Oh you were sleeping." and I closed the door. I asked the desk clerk (after another 20 minute wait to check out) in the morning if she knew anything about it and she said she didn't. We left without eating breakfast. It was very unnerving.

"Great Motel"

This was a great motel. We were going to the NC mountains and everything else was booked that was in the mtns. So we found this, an hour away and would definitely stay here again. Easy access to the highway, lots of restaurants around the area. Dog friendly rooms that open to the exterior. We had our 2 75lb labs with us and had no trouble at all. The bed is super comfortable. Really nice motel and great prices.

The front desk, housekeeping, etc. were all very friendly. Breakfast was good. Room was nice and clean. I have stayed here numerous times. The air conditioning is quiet and the beds are comfortable. I always choose an upstairs room. Great for short business stays. Close to restaurants. Easy to get in and out of the hotel.

"NO elevator! Outside entrances."

We booked our room online and did not note there was NO elevator anywhere in the reviews we read or on the website . This is not something we thought we had to look for in this day and age of everything being easily accessible! Also, please note, the doors all go to the outside! We were quite surprised when we arrived to find ourselves on the second floor of the back section of the hotel. The person at the desk apologized several times when he realized one of us was going to have difficulty accessing the rooms as there were no first floor rooms left. He did not offer a refund or suggest any other options for us so we did stay as we really had no choice. The steps were outside and not near the rooms we were in so we only went up and down them twice. I think the lack of an elevator should be noted during the reservation process. We were not planning on having a person unable to walk up stairs but illness can happen and the healing does not always go as planned. Given the option, we would have tried to stay at another nearby hotel that would have been easier for us all.

For just $83 (before taxes), this hotel proved to be an excellent value. My room was clean, tidy, and well-furnished. It included a refrigerator, microwave, and iron/ironing board. The shower space was roomy, and the water pressure, temperature, and dispersion was perfect. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back.

The staff was great, pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and the rest of the hotel was inviting and well cared for. The price was reasonable and access to the hotel was easy from the highway. "Is just ok"

Stopped by here on a road trip. Hotel was ok. The hotels all seem to be in clusters around the I40 highway you could here the trains and freeway traffic. Hotel was clean staff was friendly. Bed was soft and comfortable. Breakfast is the usual very plentiful and hot foods. Enough for road travelers. Check out in the morning the clerk was not as friendly as night check in.

"An Adventure"

I can't say enough great things about the Hickory Best Western! We had two children with us (our stopping point was Hickory) and it was a Thursday evening; we called it our adventure night as we were on the way to the mountains; however, it was getting late. When we finally arrived after midnight, the staff offered the children milk before bed and put us in a room near the Lobby for the children's convenience. Very nice! The room was nice and large for the four of us and the bathroom was perfect! Breakfast? Well, the children loved making their waffles! As I ate my waffle and fruit, they informed me they were going to get a doughnut, juice, sit and watch the news in the Lounging area! It was a beautiful area and the staff, ALL staff, was so nice!!! It was great staying there so the children didn't have to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning for a weekend mountain trip. We'll be back for our Thursday night Adventure!

Booked online , had to wait in line 10 minutes to check in due to another customer having difficulty. The hotel staff was polite and professional while dealing with computer problems. Clean rooms and safe location. I would stay here again

"Wonderful place to stay for the night"

Needed a place to stay while we passed through Hickory. We landed on the perfect spot with this Best Western. It is a great value! The rooms were very comfortable rooms. The breakfast was very delicious. We loved the waffle bar. I always prefer to stay at a Best Western. It is the best value for your money.

lot of noise from the interstate very near by, not good sleeping. maid tried to come in a locked door before I got out of bed. Front desk people were very nice. It was about AVERAGE.wasn't the worst but not the best

I found the Best Western in Hickory, North Carolina convenient to where I was going in Hickory, it was easy to find and the outside appearance was very inviting. The room was perfect for our use and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best I have ever used when traveling.

The afternoon popcorn is a nice touch as well. This was a 2 night stay booked through one of the 3rd party sites. We checked in fairly late in the evening after a long day of driving and visiting with friends in the area. The gentleman at the desk was truly fantastic. He started up a conversation with me and made me feel right at home. That made me know right away this would be a great stay. One thing he threw out there that is good info for anyone booking through a 3rd party is that many times it automatically books a smoking room for some reason. He got us into a non-smoking room without a problem. In the future I would probably call soon after booking the room to confirm that the reservation is for non-smoking. As far as the room, it was your standard fare best western, although this is probably the cleanest one I've been in. The beds were comfy and the AC actually worked well! The only complaint I could come up with was the pitiful hot water pressure in the sink. In the grand scheme of things though, it wasn't that big of a deal. The pool area was clean and the water crystal-clear. The other members of my family said it was really cold, but hey it gets chilly at night in late September, so not terribly shocking. The breakfast area was awesome with a pretty big selection and an attendant who actually acknowledges guests and asks how their stay is going. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to stay at a good rate.

My wife and I recently had to make a last minute trip to NC to attend a funeral. I also wanted to go to the mountains since we live at the beach. We booked this last minute without knowing what we would arrive to. From the minute we arrived at the beautifully maintained property we were happy. Check in with front desk person Hayden was like talking to an old friend. I had an issue with my CC at check-in because I forgot to tell the bank I was going out of town, and they had blocked it quickly to make sure it was me using it. Hayden handled the situation professionlly without any embarrassment to me. He called the manager and the problem was quickly resolved. When we arrive at our room we were surprised at how clean and spotless it was. Plenty of room and they go out of their way to make sure the room is fully stocked with everything we could need. In the morning we went down to the "Continental " breakfast expecting pastry and coffee, but instead walked into a breakfast room with hot waffles, brand named biscuits and yogurts, pastries, coffee and tea bar, fresh fruit and juice that actually tasted like juice. The breakfast attendant was doing a terrific job, and a housekeeper headed out to start our day, took the time to welcome us and wish us a great day! Check-out was handled by "Cutie" quick and efficient. This is truly a "gem" placed between Charlotte and "Grandfather Mountain"! We will definately stay here again and I will recommend to everyone!

We were SO pleased with our 3-night stay here, and I am very picky! Cindy who checked us in at 2am was darling. Maria was still bringing out food to the breakfast buffet 10 minutes before closing ; late-risers could still enjoy a delicious breakfast with all the choices!! This was so unlike many hotels where you show up the last half hour, and everything is picked over. This year we have been in hotels about once/month and this was the best breakfast buffet (variety and quality) all year (several steps above the average!) Thank you, Maria, for caring so much about your guests. Checkout was at noon rather than 11am. They had a beautiful pool and workout room. Even though the carpet was dated, it must get shampooed regularly (no bad smell.) In fact, the whole place was sparkling clean. Nice furniture, décor, and a very comfortable bed. All this and reasonably priced as well. It's quite obvious that this hotel has a great management team and that the employees take pride in caring for their guests in an excellent manner! My hat is off to you all! Thank you so much for a delightful stay. We will never consider another hotel when we make our visits to our son and his family.

This is a clean, well-maintained property. Unfortunately, I cannot tolerate being charged undisclosed, extra fees at check-in. I feel I've been taken advantage of, and certainly NOT like a valued customer of any kind. After booking our room online, I called the motel to request a first floor room & to notify them we were traveling with 2 small dogs. I was told everything as all set & that my requests would be met. At check-in, I was told I would be charged $40.00 in addition to the room rate because of the dogs. If it hadn't been so late in the day (we drove for over six hours), I would have shopped for another room. If you choose to book a room at this motel, BE SURE you ask about any additional charges. That information will not be given to you voluntarily. I'll choose to do my business with a more honorable business.

As regards to your "additional charges", we are sincerely sorry for the disconnect that transpires, quite frequently, when a Guest goes through a 3rd party online booking agent. Our property description is "pet friendly", as we most certainly are, but they neglect to mention our fees since they do not collect them. We have a modest fee of $20 per pet, and that is for the entire stay, not per night. This stems from the rigorous cleaning process every "pet friendly" room undergoes upon check out. Again, I would like to whole heartedly apologize for this miscommunication. I understand how, after hours of travel especially, new fees can easily be unwelcomed news. These are in no way hidden fees, I assure you. All Reservation Specialists are trained to communicate our modest fee of $20 to any Guest that conveys interests, or possibility in bringing a pet. Aside from that the fee is stated on every Registration card that is signed at check-in. Please know we are working with the 3rd parties to alleviate this confusion in the future. We never want any Guest to feel inconvenienced, or think they are being treated dishonorably. That is certainly not how we have remained in the top 3 Hotels in Hickory. We would like to Thank you for staying with us and to stay with us again if you ever find yourself traveling back through the area. Saw this one on trip advisor with great reviews and 8 rooms available at a good price. Showed up to a half empty parking lot and the front door locked. Front door clerk let me in and told me nothing was available. Maybe because it was 1:30 am? Gave 2 stars for benefit of the doubt.

Stayed for 7 nights, very helpful staff, could not do enough for us. breakfast was very good with lots of choice. coffee on tap most of the day. Lovely swimming pool that was never too busy, provided with pool towels whenever needed, saved a lot in our luggage allowance. Ability to have free internet and printing facilities was excellent. Would recomend this place.

stayed here on my way to Pisgah for hiking so I could stop at Lake James State Park. This was a great Best Western, no problems for my allergies, clean, pet free, smoke free( they do have pet friendly rooms for those lucky enough to be able to have a dog. staff was great. breakfast was really good. They had a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit that was so much better than the flopped over eggs you usually get. One tip. no elevator to the second floor, so if you have trouble with steps, stay on the first floor. I enjoyed the second floor. Staff was great.

I highly recommend Best Western in Hickory, NC to anyone traveling in that area. It restored my faith in Best Western, as I have not had very good experiences in the last few visits in other cities. I was impressed with the staff, housekeeping, cleanliness of the outside, lobby, room, and the workers. Often, I have to call the desk repeatedly for something or to remind the staff that I did not get what was requested. Not during this stay!!!

I like to stay at Best Westerns because they are all different. With some chains, you can't tell where you are. Most BW's have a nice, local flavor. They also seem to have good towels & linens and excellent WiFi. Those are things I like. The BW Hickory was no exxception. Friendly, helpful staff with a warm greeting. Easy check-in. Large, clean room with microwave, refrig., coffee maker, etc. Air conditioner was quiet enough and kept the room at the desired temperature. All in all - a very nice stay.

"Short road trip"

This is an old-fashioned BW with odd layout. Some inside corridors some outside. We had outside, but it was a covered breezeway and not exposed like some. Room was clean, comfortable, but a little dark. Very nice pool. Good breakfast. Great wi-fi. Staff very helpful, arrived early and they let us check in before noon! Good price, would definitely stay again.

Can't say enough positive about the Best Western in Hickory! From the minute we checked in until the morning we checked out we had nothing but a positive experience. We were greeted on arrival by Jonathon, a super friendly and pleasant young man. It's just what we needed after a 10 hour drive. Our room was ready and it took no time at all to get our keys. Our room was on ground level and faced the pool...PERFECT!! The room and bathroom were spotless and the air conditioning worked great (my daughter would say it worked too well!). There was free WiFi, a sanitized remote for the TV, lots of towels, pillows, good lighting, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The room rate included breakfast which is available in the main lobby from 6-10am. There was lots of fresh coffee, juice, fruit, cereal, breads, sweets, make your own waffles, egg dishes (omelets?) that could be microwaved, enough to have a good start to your day. Check out was quick and accurate. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm ever in Hickory again.

The hotel was very well maintained. The room was as expected. The internet was good. The breakfast had no cooked hot items. There were items that could be heated in the microwave. Otherwise the breakfast was well presented and acceptable.

This motel was very nice. It was clean. The staff was very kind and helpful. The AC worked very well which was great since it was 95 degrees during our stay. They offer free breakfast. The room was fully stocked with towels and soaps. The pool was clean and beautiful. I highly recommend this motel to anyone traveling to or through Hickory NC. There were many great restaurants within a mile or so from the facility.

Hotel appeared nice an was pleased until we awoke itching and heavily bitten an caught fleas off our bodies then upon questioning staff found out we had been placed in a pet friendly room without knowing it. I think a client should always be informed if they are staying in pet room. In their defense the room appeared well cleaned and fleas are hard to see but caution to any potential guests make sure you tell them you don't want a pet friendly room.

Again, as we have previously discussed with you, we were unaware there was ever a pet in that room after a thorough room history was done and no "declared" Guest's with a pet was ever found to previously occupy. This is how we feel the room did not undergo our rigorous deep cleaning involved in any pet-friendly check out. This is very out of the ordinary for our property and I hope you feel our discount of your stay was sincere with our many apologies. This is a nice Hotel with courteous and helpful staff. It is clean and they provide a self-service breakfast with many options. For those in a rush, you always have the option of breakfast on the go. The room was neat and clean and the room service was excellent. As with most hotels the bed was very cosy. The only thing lacking is an elevator. So if you have your room on the upper floor and you have a lot of luggage then it is quite a bit of effort. Overall I was satisfied with my stay out here and I look forward to being here again.

This Best Western was very clean and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and coffee was great! It is located in a good location to the highway and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you are traveling with your furr babies.

Love this Best Western. Economical. Does not have a full breakfast but does have waffles, fruit, toast, and frozen sandwiches. Close to the interstate and surrounding restaurants. Outdoor Pool. Extremely pleasant staff.

My daughter moved to the area June 9th. I found this hotel for $69 per night on trip advisor. The staff was super friendly, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, & there was a variety of choices for breakfast. I have already booked another stay in July! I signed up for Best Western Rewards so I will earn $ toward my next stay in the Fall.

This hotel was fine okay everything was clean, the beds were fine, the breakfast was fine, the service was fine, the staff was fine but it was just that fine. I can not complain about everything being fine for under 100.00 per night but some how from the reviews I expected exceptional. This was an older hotel that had been renovated no odors, everything worked but I guess I was hoping for a little pampering. I would highly recommend this hotel for someone traveling with pets as they still had external entrances and although I was pet free on this trip having a door to the outside with your pet is as good as it gets. So to be fair if I was traveling with a pet I would have given the hotel a 4 instead of a 3.

Spacious, clean comfortable room. Bright, airy breakfast room with a variety of menu choices and mornbing newspaper. Courteous staff. Relaxing, outdoor pool open until 9 pm. Responsive lobby internet connection and printer. only problem encountered was getting treadmill in the fitness center to work properly.

We stayed in this same hotel location last year. I enjoyed the staff and the location both times. I like the breakfast location, it is very bright and enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a curtsy call to see how are room was. We were placed in an older room and the décor could be updated, bur overall our stay was enjoyable and the staff was great!

What a nice quiet nighst rest. Although there is no elevator, we requested a quiet room and was put upstairs and was very happy. We didn't hear anything all night from the outside. They had the waffle you make for breakfast, but they also had fresh fruit and nuts for toppings. We will stay here again.

It was just average. Breakfast was not great. Microwaved food, cold cereal, waffles if you like them. Nothing to excited. The rooms need updating make sure you don't accidentally choose a smoking room. Otherwise cleaning service lady very friendly and front desk morning staff friendly.

We had planned to drive to Morganton to stay the night, but were tuckered out and ended up in Hickory. We typically stay at the Hampton inn, but were a little lost and ended up driving by this Best Western and giving it a try. The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. They gave some good sight-seeing advice and helped us obtain milk for our toddler. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. I felt comfortable bathing my child in the bathtub without cleaning it out first myself (a first!) I had forgotten many essentials so used the hotel samples and found them to be very nice quality as well! The breakfast the next day stayed open until 9, giving us plenty of time to leisurely get up in the morning, and there was a great variety of make your own waffles, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and cereal. Altogether a great experience and about $20-30 less than the rooms I typically stay in.

Most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Ever!!! Very friendly staff and a very clean and neat hotel that was easy to access from the Interstate. Was nice to make my own waffle for breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

This hotel was actually pretty nice. Rooms were spacious, clean, staff was friendly. There is a cracker barrel next door that makes breakfast eating super simple. There is plenty of parking as well here if you are pulling a trailer.

The first thing I loved was the casino style carpet just down the hall from the lobby. Rooms were quiet and comfortable, staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is different in that most of the main dishes need microwaved, but the directions make each option the right temperature. The location is great, you can get to most of the shopping and restaurants in under 5 minutes.

Stop number 2 of the college tour. This hotel was very nice, conveniently located off the interstate and tons of places to eat or shop nearby. The staff was friendly, beds comfortable and rooms were quiet. Our room was not a suite, not sure that is an option here - but it was definitely adequate for the three of us. The beds were double, not queen - but comfy. The breakfast was typical continental free....so adequate but not awesome. They did have some fresh fruit which was nice. Blueberries and strawberries to put on cereal or waffles. This hotel was busy, which is a good sign!

I had called to make reservations and in doing so, I told the operator that I was bringing my dog on this trip. She began telling me that they charge and extra $20, nonrefundable. I said it was fine, because I had no one to keep her. I informed them that she is a seven pound Maltese and she gets very nervous if she hears someone in the room beside us. To my surprise, they had put us on the end with no one in the room beside us. It was so very nice to stay with our baby girl with no barking at all. She quickly began to find her spot at the bottom of the bed and she was asleep before we were. I had even left her blanket on the bottom of the bed, called the hotel and they had it waiting on me at the front desk as we were still in the area. The was not our first time at this Best Western, as my Mom lives in the area, and it won't be our last. The staff are always so nice and friendly. I so enjoy staying here and it is 17 miles from my Mom.

I went by other trip advisor reviews. They failed me, also the rating is wrong. When you drive up, it doesnt appear to be the old kind of hotel that you have outside door rooms. There is no elevator. Rooms are far from front desk. The air conditioner went on and off like a jet plane, even when i had put it on constant fan. It did appear as clean as it could be.

Hotel was quiet, clean, smoke free, decent mattress (not fantastic, but perfectly respectable and not too firm, thank you), friendly staff and no surprises. All we were looking for in an stop over. The landscaping was mulched very nicely with paths - surprising for a hotel of this caliber and we could access our room directly from the lot which is always handy. The breakfast included the usual carb items and also waffles and was pleasantly surprised to find omelets in the fridge next to the yogurt ready to heat in microwave - thanks. Coffee was good. I would certainly stay here again and for the price point I would give it 5 stars though it is no luxury hotel by any means.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Usually I stay for a period of one week or longer. The staff are friendly and very helpful. My room has always been clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good and if you need a snack or a bottle of water during the evening they provide these items at no extra charge. When visiting Hickory, NC, I would always choose to stay at this hotel.

The hotel is pet friendly which was one of the main reason for the visit. The outside is nothing outstanding but the landscape is well kept and very clean. The rooms are very nice. I was extremely surprised and very pleased. I would definitely recommend not to mention price is right.

Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. The 2 young ladies at the desk went out of their way to get us info and directions. I have stayed at Best Western many times and have had good luck every time. Can't beat the free breakfast and coffee. Very nice staff always helpful with just about anything, Extra blankets and foam pillows in room as asked for. Great deal for the price. As simple as the coffee and breakfast free puts other hotels to shame. Very much appreciated. Will always look to stay with them over other brands.

Mixed facility with indoor rooms as well as outside motel style rooms. All well maintained, with carpets shampooed on a regular basis, as experienced by being awoken to them cleaning a neighboring room. While breakfast was not hot, a nice variety of prepackaged products were available for heating in the microwave. Plus there was a fruit salad, fresh cut strawberries, blueberries, a variety of yogurts (brands and types!), instant oatmeal and grits packets, regular and strawberry cream cheese, peanut butter, Nutella, butter, juices, coffee, tea,...I could go on In the evenings they offered a variety of fresh baked cookies or popcorn...and the milk and juice was available all day. :) When a light bulb blew in my room, Meghan immediately replaced it. This is typical of the service provided...all above and beyond expectations.

This was my first time ever staying at a Best Western. I found it to be the cleanest hotel ever. The rooms even had a clean scent. The beds were so comfortable and 12 o clock checkout was just what i needed.

At first sight, I thought the hotel looked like a converted Motel. It was updated a bit and clean. It has no elevator that I saw so be prepared to walk up. The included breakfast had various cold items, a waffle maker and other items that needed to be microwaved. Not what I expected but ok. Staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The rooms were clean and updated. Beds were double and quite small.

Really nice facility and staff. The best thing about it is its location: right at the conference center, next door to the cafeteria, close to eateries and other places, easy to find and to get to. You can't ask for a nicer staff, and the place is clean and pretty. The room is a little cramped and the bathroom is tiny, but they loved my dog and I'll definitely stay there again.

The hotel is nice. Beds are comfortable. I found a couple pieces of hair in between the sheets which was gross. The breakfast wasn't all that great. They make the waffle batter to watery. The orange juice was nasty. The hotel is surrounded by tons of restaurants though.

My family and i spent 3 nights at the Best Western, 2 weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel and the room. The beds were comfortable and the room was nice. The staff was extremely accommodating, we will be staying with them again in April.

"Best Towels"

I travel alot for work, and I can say that this hotel has luxery towels.....so great. Overall experience has been good. Room was clean, clean linens, appears that maybe there were some room upgrades as the bathroom was very nice. Love a full length mirror near lighting for clothing check and putting on makeup. Easy to find and lots of restaurants nearby. Hair dryer, microwave, and fridge in the room. Large flat screen tv complimented the two bed room. Stairs were well lighted and rooms open to the outside. Smoking room which I requested did not smell of smoke. Check in was a bit strange. No one at desk and when I gently called "hello", I was greeted by a voice in the back admonishing me for interrupting their taking of a reservation. So, waited quietly thereafter. She was not real friendly, but it could have been worse. Maid did a great job the first day, second day I found the toiletries just dumped on the counter.

We spent two nights at this Best Western in Hickory. What a pleasant surprise. This Best Western is well kept and clean. Our room was very nice and the bed was very comfy. We have passed through Hickory but never stayed so finding this BW was great for us. When we asked the desk for directions to a covered bridge they gave us an index card with the directions on it...what a great idea! The cards were helpful and saved a lot of time looking possibility in the wrong direction.

this best western met out needs perfectly, just needing a place to stay for one night. it was pleasant, clean, and the staff was polite and helpful. it was a little bit noisy, being beside I40, however, when the door is closed, the noise was not a problem. the breakfast was convenient and suitable. had good choices, including refrigerated items to be microwaved. we found the staff at check in and check out both very nice.

Several very positive things -- price, location, clean room, and a large spread for a "continental breakfast" (fresh fruit, yogurt, dry cereal plus oatmeal/grits, breakfast sandwiches to warm in microwave, waffles, breads/sweet breads, juices, etc.). We weren't so impressed with the initial service. No one was at the desk for check in. We waited for a long period of time and finally started calling "hello, hello?" Someone answered and SLOWLY made their way to the desk. We also had real trouble getting the heat to regulate. Although we kept lowering the thermostat (down to 59 degrees), we were sweltering and had difficulty sleeping. I believe the thermostat must have been right next to the window on a cold night . . . we finally turned the heat off completely at 2am and slept comfortably after that. The next morning, a shower was disappointing when the drain trickled and the tub filled with soapy water throughout the shower.

Love staying here. We have stayed here 7-8 times. Just a short weekend kind of place. Not too far from home, and great way to relax.Staff has always been super polite and helpful. Lots of shopping places and restaurants to choose from.

One night getaways can be the bomb... This location has plenty of good restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel..When we stayed there was not a lot of foot traffic.. which made check-in very easy.. This facility only has two floors...No elevator..hopefully you will not have a lot of luggage and stay multiple days...I usually prefer a high floor hotel.. I did not research well.. I found this out at check-in...

Recently stayed at Best Western Hickory NC, 2nd stay there this year. Room was impeccable, front desk staff very pleasant and highly professional. Check in was a breeze. Complementary continental breakfast provided, excellent selection of items. There is a fitness room on ground floor with modern workout equipment, weights etc, easy access using room key. We will continue staying at Best Western Hickory NC when our travels take us in that direction.

I have nothing but wonderful comments to make about staying here. From check in to check out it was amazing. Everyone was super polite. My room was great and spacious. Breakfast seemed okay. I am unable to eat continental breakfasts because of the wheat/gluten. However they had breakfast sandwiches, bread, bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, waffles, cereal, juice, etc. it was all neat and not messy. I would definitely stay here again because of their kindness. :)

My husband and I reviewed this hotel on Trip Advisor. The other reviewers must have stayed in a different hotel than we did. The part we stayed in was old and wasn't keep up as well as stated from other guests. There did seem to be a newer part to the hotel which might have been better. The noise from the highway was loud but the noise from the people cleaning the rooms rolling the laundry bins and trash cans sounded like planes landing. You could see light around the entire door. Breakfast was frozen eggs or breakfast burrito that you microwave, they did have fruit and waffles and cereal. My husband was quoted one price but we charged another. I asked about it and was told no that was the rate, but he had to go in before we checked out and remind them of the rate. It's not on our list to go back to.

This was THE BEST Best Western that I have ever stayed in!!!!! The rooms were very clean and orderly. Very professional and attentive front desk staff. Great amenities and location!!! The only problem I encountered was that my waffle would get stuck in the waffle iron. "Trip to mountains "

My husband and i stopped here on our way to the mountains for a weekend getaway. To my surprise, this hotel was nice and clean. I don't know why i thought other wise, but i did. The receptionist at the front desk was nice and polite. The hallway and staircase leading to our room was very clean, you could smell that the hotel was clean. Our room was the same nice and clean. I give this place a thumbs up two times. When me and my husband leave on another weekend getaway,Best Western would be my first choice pick of hotel. Btw if you are a AAA member ask for discount. Never hurts to ask.

This hotel is located well for business or pleasure, along side several other hotels. Outstanding value for the cost. I thought this was a new or newly renovated property and was totally surprised that it was an older (but very spacious and clean) hotel. I love that this hotel was pet friendly and allowed our big dog to stay with no worries. They even gave our pets a treat for staying. Rooms were clean, bed was not as comfortably as i we would have preferred but overall it was good and we will be back.

Really outstanding customer service from Elisha who checked me in like an old friend. Comfortable, well-appointed room, nice working desk, quiet. I found the internet service spotty. Location is just off the interstate and quite close to both the convention center and Catawba Community College. Good hotel - I'm sure I'll stay here in the future.

Excellent location, service and comfort. Adjacent to Carrabbas Italian restaurant with both interior or exterior quarters. Even has the old style school Milk machine . Just a feel good place. Finally a safe feeling spot and best of all they accept you four legged pets for a reasonable fee.

Clean and nicely renovated hotel right off of I40 in Hickory NC. Very clean and room nicely decorated. Lots of restaurants in the area. Very good value compared to the other more highly rated motels in the area. Would most definitely will stay here again when in the area.

Upon arriving to the hotel, my wife and I were impressed with not only the lobby and breakfast area but the open areas for you to sit and relax. Once we checked in and arrived to our room we were happy to see that it was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the overall hotel was quite at bedtime! ;) Next time we need a room for the night and we are close to this hotel! Were there! P.S. I forgot to mention the breakfast! Good selection of everything a family would love in the morning. I left the lobby full.

Place was ok until we tried to go to sleep with heat on. It developed a big noise every time it cycled on. Too cold with it off. Also in morning when we tried to use shower, the shower deflector did not want to stay up. Be prepaired to get your hair wet and body cold when it falls back down before warming up!

After leaving the disaster of a motel called American Motel, we found this hotel. Very clean. Microwave, fridge, big TV. The TV button was in a fresh bag. The beds were comfy and the pillows were fluffy and soft! There were plenty of towels for my family of four. The staff was super friendly. I'm a foodie, so I pay attention to the food served. It was good. They had a good variety. Plenty of coffee served 24 hours! Bagels, SE biscuits, SE with pancakes instead of a biscuit, grits, waffles, cereal, fruit. They also give military discounts, which is sweet and respectful to my veteran husband. It was too cold for the pool, but it was clean and it was a beautiful area to sit at. My family enjoyed our stay here, and would most definitely stay again! My sweet kids left the staff a happy note. I hope it made them smile. They certainly made us happy with great accommodations.

"Attention Motorcylce Riders"

This hotel is not motorcycle friendly. We were told that we were told allowed to leave our bike under the canopy and were threatened with having it towed even though it was only out there for a few moments while we went to our room to leave our bags. There was no sign and we would not told any different while we checked in. She was extremely rude about it and we will not be back at this hotel. Too bad since this hotel is extremely close to the Harley dealership.

"Didn't live up to claimed TripAdvisor award"

No acknowledgement of my Best Western Rewards Diamond Elite status. Room was a rear outside room not convenient to the lobby, in an area of construction and provided a view of the portable toilet. Staff indifferent to my request for upgraded room. Later killed a bug in the room and next morning saw another live bug. Based on the the staff indifference to customer service and the insects in the room, I can not recommend this property.

"Not up to Best Western standards"

I chose to stay at this property partly based on its claimed Trip Advisor rating. That was a mistake. Despite my Diamond rewards status, there was no acknowledgement of my brand loyalty, no room upgrade. Instead, my room was at the rear of the motel with a view of a portable toilet and far from the lobby. There was no effort to change rooms when the front desk person was made aware of my displeasure with the room. Later in the evening, my wife killed a bug in the room and , next morning, we saw another. Overall, I can not recommend this motel as being other than a below average property whose staff is unconcerned with customer service.

I was very pleased to walk into a room so clean and fresh smelling, and with all the amenities that make traveling more enjoyable. The front desk even called to see if we needed any thing and to ask if we were satisfied with our room. Breakfast was delicious with many items to choose from.

"Convenient Location"

Motel is conveniently located off of I-40 and near major points points of interest in Hickory. Numerous restaurants nearby. Not the newest motel on the block, but still in great shape and pleasant surroundings. Great outdoor pool. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly

"Convenient and Comfortable"

I came for 3 nights to attend a local writer's conference, and overall, I was quite pleased with Best Western Hickory. The front desk staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. My room was recently renovated and included a very comfortable king-size bed, a desk, microwave and mini-fridge, HDTV with HBO, and a spacious bathroom. Everything appeared clean and new. The free in-room internet was quite adequate and there is a "business center" off the lobby if you need a desktop or printer. Free breakfast was appreciated and included a make-our-own waffle station, fresh fruit and even eggs (hard-boiled only), but some items could have been better: the dispensed orange juice was quite sour, and the bagels and pastry were clearly packaged rather than freshly-baked. The lobby was inviting, but a few things like the fire doors could use a little touch-up. The hotel is very convenient - right of I-40 and just a short drive to town. (Warning: Hickory is a nice town with good restaurants, music and arts and an attractive town square, but the way the streets are numbered and named makes it confusing to get around.)

This hotel lives up to the BEST policy in the Best Western Hotel. The staff was remarkable and so very kind. The bed was just dreamy to sleep in. The hotel was spotless at all times. It was a very relaxing stay with family and friends:). Well done.

"THE place to stay in Hickory"

We were in the process of moving to Hickory and needed to find and then purchase a home. We tried many hotels in the area but this is by far the best value. Not only that the staff are caring, friendly and helpful. The room was very large, internet fast/secure, and it was handicapped accessible. Who could ask for more:-) (Ok, the fresh popcorn and/or cookies in the lobby were great too!)
