Friendly staff and very clean room. Its been a while since I've stayed at a Best Western. Not having been in Havre for many years I knew that Havre is a key spot for the railroad. I thought maybe the train noise would be a problem. It wasn't even though our room faced the railroad. What a surprise. Don't pass this hotel by.
Stayed one night in Havre BW and it was terrible. There was a city wide water health risk which had included boiling the water days before arrival. It was recommended those with medical conditions not drink the water. I was not informed about the health risk when I made the reservation. And was not allowed an opportunity to cancel when I realized it and explained my personal medical conditions. The remote did not work with the tv. Password for the internet was wrong, front desk provided two different passwords. Room was slightly dirty. Window dirt and bugs. Air conditioner buttons broken/worn. Could not take a shower because of water risk. No on to call to get advise since we checked in at the end of a work day.
I like to take my grandchildren to town for a nights stay every now and then. I booked the room not realizing the drinking water problem in town had the pool closed. We still had a good night of rest and the breakfast is always good. The grand kids were a little disappointed so I bought them a pizza and we watched TV. My son got off work at 9pm so he was tired and went straight to sleep. Woke up early had breakfast then it was off to the store to get some supplies.
The room was comfortable. The bed are nice, and comfortable. Pillows were flat. Work space was very nice, and usable. Small tv. The big issue is the bathroom. It is too small with a tiny sink not big enough to properly prepare at. They also have a old tub shower.
The stay was nice at this hotel in Havre. I would suggest it is the best option if you are planning on staying more than one night in Havre. There are options for a pool a casino, free breakfast, and quick access to the downtown area.
Desk, young man that checked me in, was very pleasant and helpful. Who ever cleans the rooms must take some pride in doing a great job, as the rooms were clean. The rates are a little high for seniors on a fixed income
The hotel was excellant clean and beautiful room. The breakfast was very delicious and in a nice clean setting ,, Was close to the attractions that we visited in Havre to made it convenient.. If traveling that way again we would stay in this hote
Fairly standard BW Inn. Nothing to complain about really. Pleasant check in staff. Clean room which was well equipped. Handy laundry next door (gas station store). Main tip for this place: don't arrive on a Monday. Hardly anything is open, in particular the restaurant across the road. We had to go to a below average diner in town to get some dinner.
This hotel is amazing. The rooms are clean and modern. The front desk staff went above and beyond to be accommodating. The on-site facilities including the breakfast were great. Great value and an even better stay!
Great place great people, very helpful, staff is the best I've dealt with, clean rooms, a lot of activities to do around the hotel, breakfast is on point everyday , swimming area is very kept up on I'm coming back
There is a reason we don't stay at Best Western Hotels. What they promise you and what you actually get are very different. Today, we arrived to find the lobby and halls hot and stuffy, the A/C in our room was off, the curtains were open and the outside temperature was 97° I went to the desk to ask why the A/C was off; the man and his pretty little sidekick with the big false eyelashes looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. I explained we'd been in the room 3 hrs and it was still stifling. He replied, "If you don't like it, you can go someplace else"
Hotel needs to go over the Best Western Standard of Service and Professionalism from the Brand Name and sort out their service issues to providing great improved Services levels, Follow through with written request guest notes that informs all hotel departments of it including housekeeping Professionalism at check-in, check-out. Provide breakfast amenities, and more choices and when something wrongs out do not tell guest they cannot re-fill it, and force a guest to eat something they don't like or allergic to, Make it happen to the guest satisfaction because they are all paying customers of best western hotel chain and internet service they are trying to provide to the rooms which was poor
Can't say enough good things about the property. Spotless, great place to stop. The employees all all top Notch folks. From the manager Kelly, to desk folks Callie Cole, Tawnya, and the housekeeping staff Patti and Nichole staff made the room spotless. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend to any and all.
my granddaughter wanted to camp out in Beaver Creek park. Raining off and on for 3 straight days and we needed another option for her Birthday. I had enough for a free room and we paid for another room to get the family there to swim and have a small get together to happy birthday to Myliyah 8th birthday. The kids love the breakfast and pool. Me and my son utilized the steam room that also doubles as a sauna. That was a nice suprise for us to soother our aches and pains from the work week. .
I love this hotel. We stay offten when traveling the hi-line. Breakfast was sparse and cold this visit BUT ...that is not the norm. I look forward to our future stays, I know it will be diffferent. The sound of the trainyard is kinda charming and I dont mind it.
This stay was clean and comfortable. The room was serviced every day and a very pleasant note was left by who ever cleaned the room. The service was fast and pleasant. I would recommend a stay at this motel if you were every traveling to or through Havre, MT
Clean quiet room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very nice selection for breakfast. Close to three plus restaurants and a short walk to a grocery store. Room to park a couple of semi's. Would definitely stay there again.
hotel was very pleasant, clean, and had all the travel essentials. Front desk personnel were very nice at check in. The BNSF maintenance facility was right behind the hotel so it was very cool to watch the trains though the sound was well muted in the hotel so as not to disturb. Loved the pictures of bison and trains and the display of Native American artifacts.
This hotel was not very clean the floor smelled of chlorine from the pool and the room was musky and stuffy. I woke up sore from the bed. They did not service our room at all or offer towels we had to ask and go get them the whole weekend.
The heating and AC unit didn't work. The sauna was broken, hot tub jets were broken, housekeeping barely showed up, never made the bed or cleaned properly. Breakfast was bad, staff not great, worst gym I've ever seen in a hotel with no free weight or mat in sight.
My sister and I needed a place to stay for Thanksgiving, to be near family. We chose BWGNI because of the photos and description on their website. The room was, well, roomy. We did not feel cramped. I loved that they had two luggage racks in the closet, instead of the usual one. My sister liked the breakfast choices. I would stay again.
I have stayed at this motel many time over a 24 year span and have never been disappointed. The location is great with a very good restaurant across the street and they serve a very good breakfast every morning.
The staff at this BWPlus made our two day stay very enjoyable. They were helpful in directing us to activities and restaurants. Very nice room - clean and neat. Breakfast was in a nice clean environment with a diverse menu. This was the best Best Western Plus we have had the pleasure of staying in!
My family were in Havre to attend my dad's memorial service. The Best Western Great Northern was referred to me by my younger brother who would always stay there when ever he was in Havre visiting our Dad. He said it was a really nice, clean and comfortable place to stay, so we booked reservations for a night. We were not disappointed in the least! I especially enjoyed the display of old western artifacts which were suitable to the area's history and culture. Would definitely stay there again the next time we travel to my boyhood town of Havre, Montana!
Stayed one night and it was a good stay. The bed was comfortable and room very clean. Right on the main street through Havre and right next to the railroad tracks. The only hotel I have stayed in that came with a set of ear plugs next to the bed. Went down to breakfast just after 6 and was the first one there. The food was OK, but nothing special. Had a meeting there so it was close.
We have enjoyed staying here every time we go to Havre. Have tried other hotels but this is the best one. Friendly and helpful staff, clean, rooms recently updated, comfy beds, great breakfast and coupons for bars and restaurant's close by.
The layout of hotel is confusing. Workout room is on 2nd floor but off stairway down to pool. Staff is very nice. Breakfast attendant looked for ways to help. Breakfast room was spacious with plenty of seating.
The room was clean and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The casino was right across the street so it was convenient to eat. This place advertises a on site casino which isn't much with just a few slot machines.
Made a reservation over 6 weeks prior to trip. On arrival was told our room was in the "Annex" across the highway. Never mentioned previously. No pool, gym, ect. just a pop machine and an semi-functioning Ice machine. The room cards were hit and miss working to let you in the lobby, causing guests to prop open the doors, not very secure when you have pan-handlers in the parking lot. Every room you had to use stairs to access. The captioning on the TV was disabled so for me being hearing impaired pretty much left out TV watching. There was no phone book or any other information about the town, dining, attractions, ect. When asked about the room the manager pretty much said "tough luck" I should be happy with what I got. Never Again!!!
Hotel was clean and the location was convenient between N Dakota and Glacier NP. The staff was friendly and they actually served a full self-serve breakfast instead of the bag to go in the morning. I would recommend this hotel.
First time staying in a hotel with my kids. They really enjoyed it and are looking forward to our next road trip. The pool and spa were great and the staff was very pleasant sand inviting. I would recommend this hotel if you're in the area!!
I just needed a clean room to sleep in while I was in town for a friends wedding. I was there two nights and was really impressed with the staff, room and all around experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting.
I definitely recommend this hotel. I was surprised at how nice it was. Very clean hotel from the lobby to the room. The breakfast was really good too. The staff was awesome. We had about 20 people in our group for a memorial service. The staff let us use the conference room to gather. They were very hospitable. The front desk attendant also took our group picture before we left. 5 stars. Would recommend.
We were in Havre Mt for my sisters memorial service. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating! The beds are extremely comfortable. The pool was clean. The staff in the breakfast room kept everything filled and appropriately hot etc.
We have a wonderful stay with this motel. It was our last night on a family vacation with grandchildren. And I think the kids liked this one the best. We always try to stay Best Western. With COVID it has stopped us from traveling hope we will be able to do more this winter.
Recently stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks on assignment with the army. It was great! The hotel staff bent over backward to help us. They were so nice. The daily continental breakfast was good. The hotel was clean, safe, and fairly quiet. One night an idling locomotive next door made it a little hard to sleep. But I would definitely stay here again.
Dawna was awesome. We loved her at the breakfast area. She greeted us every morning with a smile and went above and beyond to make out stay superb. Hotel was clean and very quiet rooms. Even with Covid, the breakfast was adequate and there were many choices to choose from.
Excellent staff and very clean room. Check in was quick and easy. Breakfast was good. Waffle machine worked and the coffee was good. Staff in breakfast area was very kind and helpful. Room was excellent!
We're Amtrak lovers and this hotel was perfect. We requested a room on train side so we could watch train ops and hear the whistles. The windows were excellent as you could barely hear the trains when closed. Lovely room decor, great front desk staff, and the best BW breakfast we've had during pandemic. This BW checked all our boxes!
The staff at Best Western in this location was friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the cleanliness of the hotel and lobby! The breakfast was a good variety of foods and covid safety was ensured. The staff at this hotel ensured we found everything we “needed”. Thank you guys!
Our brother/dad/uncle unexpectedly passed away, and family members from Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Montana all stayed at this facility. The staff was so very personable and kind to all of us. On Saturday evening, they allowed us to use the breakfast area to have a group gathering to share stories and a toast to our brother Jon's memory. All of our rooms were fairly close to each other, making visiting extremely easy.
Motel was very clean, cleaning staff were constantly cleaning disinfecting, very polite. They wore their masks. Rooms were new and nice. The parking is a problem, had to park in side lot and pack all our stuff ( and a child ) in.
I'm surprised this property earned BW Plus status. Not that it's a poor property, but it's nowhere close to the standards I've seen set during previous BW Plus stays. Start with the good: very pleasant front desk attendant. It took about 5 minutes for her to turn up to check me in, but it appeared she had been doing house cleaning work elsewhere on the floor. The room was clean, spacious and pretty standard BW. The bad: Trains. I really should've read deeper into the TripAdvisor reviewers. The overall high rating must be influenced by people who stayed on the south side of the building. If I would've read past the overall high rating, I would have seen the reviews mentioning the all-night train noise, which are accurate. The noise lessened as the night progressed, but still plenty of bells deep into the night. Beyond the train noise, here's another ongoing frustration I have with Best Western, including at this location. They send you an email the day prior to your arrival to encourage you to “pre-register”. You enter your arrival information and any requests. Great, I did that. But what's the point of me taking the time to input those details if no one at the hotel is going to read them? I made a very specific room request -- knowing full well that they may not be able to accommodate me. So when I was handed the keys to a room on a different floor than I had requested, I asked if anything was available on my preferred floor -- and was cheerfully told, yes, there was. The other disappointment was the internet speed. I clocked it at 1.49 Mbps, which is just really, really slow these days. I'll never understand why hotels don't invest in wi-fi to at least match fast food restaurants. (And preferably better than fast food restaurants, but at least match them!) I don't need to be able to watch Netflix on my computer, but I do want to be able to check email without waiting 1-2 minutes for the email to fully load. There's another BW Plus in Havre -- but it also backs up to train tracks, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about choosing between the two. Personally, I'll go elsewhere during future visits.
Great service. The rooms were nice and clean. All staff were covid compliant. The beds were comfortable and the rooms updated. Breakfast was a to-go bag because of covid. Friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay.
More historic than your typical Best Western. Some historic features remain, but the hotel rooms are modern and up to date. Quiet, easy going setting. We arrived way early, and they let us check in and unload before we went out to see some sights.
We are in route to lay mom to rest and needed time in Havre to visit friends on the way. This place has been around awhile but it still feels fresh and new as the just completed an upgrade and renovation, inside and out. It is beautifully appointed and comfortable. The pool was a nice treat. The staff was sweet, housekeeping and maintenance greeting us in the hall not just with a hello but adding sincere conversation. Standing out for us was Lory, (sp?). She adjusted our reservation when we called and said we would be arriving a day early, checked us in with warm hospitality and genuine care. When we asked for extra lighting she found a lamp all while tending to other guests, cleaning the public areas and operating the hotel's wine bar. I have managed hotels previously and Peggy, the manager, has built a great team and her team does a great job at making this place a gem.
Stayed one night. The reservation desk had my data already for identification and a credit card. Very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are of equal to an upper class hotel. Everything seems quite modern and up to date. Wi-fi in rooms is great. Flat screen tv, fridge, extra toiletries all very nice. Would stay here again when in Havre.
We tend to stay at this establishment ever time we visit Havre. Hotel is going through remodeling. We did not notice any noise with construction or with the railroad behind the hotel. They always supply earplugs but we never use them. Rooms and beds are comfy and clean. Hot tub is hot with good pressure. Good selection for breakfast. Friendly staff during check in, Holly took care of us both on the phone and at the front desk. We tried to get a later check out for a extra 15 minutes for a morning hot tub but the manager stated it would be a extra fee so we declined.
Hotel was completely remodeled. Only drawback is location. It is right in front of a railroad service depot. Expect some noise. Good selection for breakfast. Friendly staff was able to assist with all needs.
Most comfortable room ever! From the bed and bedding to the towels and even the products supplied it was first rate! The room was recently renovated and was spacious and decorated with very tastefully furnishings. All amenities - coffee - glasses - ice bucket - hair blower were clean (or individually wrapped) and in perfect condition! The only negative response would be because it is on a busier street there was traffic noise and we were facing the street.
I love staying at the Great Northern anytime I go to Havre. It's clean friendly has everything you need. Breakfast has several options. The rooms are roomy, clean, and quiet. Our room was on the same side as the railroad and I did not hear any of the trains. Plus they left ear plugs in the room if needed.
Stopped for one night on cross country trip. Good location. We required a handicap room which was spacious and convenient. Restaurant across the street for dinner was good, breakfast was fresh and good. a comfortable after a long drive. Would stay again if in the area.
After a long drive this motel was so nice to stay at that I was able to relax and sleep well. The shower head was tall enough for me. The room was clean and well equipped. The carpet and the walls were in excellent shape. I was able to get up and get ready for my all day meeting. I would highly recommend this motel.
Friendly staff, great breakfast, and coupons offered for drinks at several nearby restaurants/ bars... staff in lounge can keep a conversation going or let you quietly unwind only bugging you with a refill
Visiting Havre for a family event and had a nice stay. All the staff were helpful. Breakfast was nice and had salsa for scrambled eggs and made pancakes instead of waffles but could of had both. Easy stay and room and bed all good.
Rooms are a little outdated but very spacious and clean. Nice to have a counter/mirror outside of bathroom. Service is inconsistent, the gal checking me in was great but the day time front desk staff is always rude.
Top notch check in at the front desk. My reservation had one detail mixed up but they were so quick to make the appropriate change. The cheerful and efficient staff are really the trademarks of the Best Western chain. Room had two queen beds; quite spacious and comfortable. Morning breakfast included hot items and was more than enough. We have stayed here a few times now and would recommend this hotel. (There is also another BW in town; haven't stayed there but it looks nice too)
Clean, comfortable, excellent staff. well maintained pool and hot tub. Check in was a breeze with up grade options. We were to be on the third floor and upgraded to ground floor. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
This hotel is on a main thoroughfare and my room faced it. I thought it might be quite noisy but it wasn't. The room was spacious and very clean. There was a a good selection of items for breakfast. The restaurant across was quite good for my evening meal.
Having never stayed Best Western Plus Great Northern Inn, I didn't know what to expect, and was weary of rail yard noise, but to my surprise, there was no sound at all from the rail yard. Very nice room too!
this is an older place, no business center, handed me a tablet and I had to sign for it, super clean, but dated, strange people walking the lot, no easy entrance to room from car, wished Ihad paid the extra $5 and stayed at the newer one at the edge of town-this is not a Plus by any means
Our room was clean with a great bed, good shower, great wifi and great breakfast. Property is well-maintained. This BW is located downtown. There's a second BW up on a hill on the outskirts of town, but it costs more. We got to know a couple of check-in clerks while there and both were friendly and knowledgeable about their town, offering us ideas of where to eat and what to see. Warm cookies upon check-in is always a plus. Only thing I didn't much like was the constant perfumey aroma within the room and that there was no exhaust fan in the clean bathroom.
Jodie was very nice and could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was good but could have been excellent if kept up. The seperate ground floor pet friendly rooms were excellent. Needs a better area to walk dogs.
The entree was refreshed and refilled right up to the close of breakfast service. The food was fresh and hot and the variety satisfied every special diet we required. Coffee was fresh and plentiful and the tables were cleaned between guests sitting down to eat.
I really enjoyed staying here, but, like most hotels these days, there are no overhead lights in the room, and there aren't enough outlets (and the existing outlets have lamps plugged into them, which could be unplugged if there was an overhead light). The breakfast included a nice selection of items (waffles, two other hot items that varied daily, cereal, pastries, muffins and bagels, yogurt) and plenty of hot coffee. Several juices too. I don't know whether the television was cable or satellite (I'd guess cable) but the choices were limited and there didn't appear to be a TV guide channel. I would stay here again, but I'd be sure to bring a power strip- which I usually travel with but forgot this time. I couldn't find an accessible outlet near the bed; luckily my CPAP has a battery meaning I could plug it in to charge during the day and then each night use the battery power for my CPAP and charge my electronic devices.
We stayed for a weekend away in June. It had been 23 years since I visited Havre, and this hotel was built in ‘98 so it had to be pretty good? We found it easy enough, and although the parking lot was a bit rough, the check in was seamless. We were given room 204, facing the north. What a view, if you love the railroad. It faced a very busy rail yard, that was active all night, providing somewhat of a white noise to sleep by. The room was pretty clean, although dated (was 1998 that long ago?). The floor above was very creaky whenever it's occupants moved, and the walls seemed paper thin, we heard the next room easy. The breakfast was decent, if you had the fresh inventory at the beginning. The hot tub was lukewarm at best. We were entertained by the noises the elevator created servicing the three floors of the hotel. Location wise, it was perfectly situated between gas stations and restaurants. Hopefully an overhaul is coming soon, because 1998 must have been an eternity for this hotel.
The parking lot was horrible and difficult to bring luggage across. The property smelled horrible, the young man at the front desk was rude, and they made my king bed with queen sheets. Will not stay at this property again.
used best western points for our son's graduation. We checked in and then were told we were in the annex building. Had to load up all of our bags back in the truck and move across the highway. Needed ice. Only had to cross a 5 line highway to get it. Continental breakfast was fun packing back across the 5 lane highway the next morning. If this best western try's to send you to the annex ask for a refund immediately!
I chose this motel for the indoor pool and slide as I was going to spend time with my Grandkids. The pool was so cold the first night of the stay, their lips were turning blue, vending machines on the 2nd floor were out of order, cool shower at 5pm, thought the cause might be due to laundry during the day, but only a slightly warmer shower at 10am the next morning. The TV programing was the worst. Limited channel selection, with no menu to let you know what was on when. I expected better for price.
Always a favourite of ours with the lounge right beside the pool. We like that there's a couple decent restaurants right across the street. Always great breakfasts and great service when we stay. Love the coupons for drinks and gambling!
Friendly staff, very comfortable bed! The breakfast was ok...the eggs were cold on the 2nd day. Housekeeping was extremely helpful and understanding! They allowed us a late check out, 2 1/2 hours past normal checkout time!
I had concerns when I realized the location of this hotel- right next to the rail yard- but was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. Staff was extremely polite as well. Breakfast provided had many options offered and was tasty.
We travel with our Ice Hockey Team many weekends in the long Montana Winter. The young Men need good hot showers comfortable beds. Healthy early am food as some games require them to be out to the rink as early as 6 am & often in for late supper. Friendly faces & a warm smile are worth a million dollars
Stayed that the best Western on Saturday night. Rooms are spacious and clean. Good wifi coverage, although you have to log in every time your device goes to sleep. Nice hot tub and pool area. My only suggestion for improvement is to have towels in the pool area for the guests
Very nice hotel. Spacious rooms & bathrooms. Very clean, nice breakfast area, nice selection & not cramped seating. Also very quiet even though it is right by the highway. This has become our go to hotel when in Havre.
Was a good stay. You do get a train whistle close by but nothing to complain about. Good clean outfit and all the staff were great. Its a great location for a stop over when on the road. I'd stay again
Staff were good, but for some reason we were placed on the 2nd floor in an ancient room up a narrow steep stairs. Layout is amazingly bad - down stairs, outside to access small hot tub and reverse process (in winter) to get back to our room
Wife and I stopped for the night in Havre returning from a family funeral in the Flathead. Didn't have a reservation but rooms were available. Got checked in and room was great. Hotel is in a renovation mode but there are signs stating when contractor noise starts and ends daily. Also, the BNSF Railway tracks and yard facilities are behind the building so if you don't want to listen to minimal railroad noise throughout the night, you will probably want to search out another location. For those that enjoy being next to railroad operations, this is a good place for you. Very good breakfast selection in the morning. Convenience store, restaurants and gas stations are all nearby.
Very Accommodating Staff...nice pool area for kids w an attached Bar for adults that overlooks pool area. Thomas the bartender was pleasant and professional! Clean w nice beds. Breakfast area was well kept and breakfast selection was above average! Will always stay here while in Havre!
The hotel was warm, accommodating and the helpful. The hot tub was nice, as it was FREEZING cold in February. The food was average for this type of location, but there was room for many people. The one negative was my room was located on the back side of the hotel, along the train tracks. This is an active track and it is loud. Pack ear plugs for get some from the store down the street. Prepare for some dark dreary night in Feb. As a plus, Canada is about 30 miles away.
Arrived late with no reservation. We checked in and the beds were made up but the room was not clean, requested a new room and were given a new room right away. Clean room this time. Very good breakfast at the hotel.
Two nights at this Hotel coincided with an internet and cable television failure that affected wide parts of Montana, and other States, over a two day period (including part of a weekend), attracted varying responses from hotel customers and a wide variety of excuses from the service providers. During this period businesses throughout Havre were unable to process credit cards, etc., and homes were left with blank tv screens. Watching the reception and management staff handle a combination of angry, upset, confused and irritated customers provided a lesson in polite, calm, understanding and patience - especially because the problem was totally our of the Hotels control. Running a busy Hotel via the Managers cell phone was a lesson in flexibility. Regardless of the problem our stay was exemplary. On arrival we were moved to the Hotel annexe - across the street - where the rooms were well equipped, spotless and comfortable. The added bonus was there was no noise from the rail road traffic situated immediately behind the main Hotel. The walk from the annexe to the Hotel for breakfast was less than a minute. Full marks also to 'breakfast host' - Gillian - for her attention to detail, and management of the well presented and wide ranging breakfast options. Overall our stay during a busy weekend was very comfortable, enjoyable and quiet - due to a lack of internet and cable channel service.
This is were we stay when we slip down to Havre. Clean comfortable rooms, nice hot tub and pool, good breakfast and Miss Trudy casino is right beside the pool. Housekeeping and front staff make you feel at home. Love that we get a Canadian rate.
Very pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed this stay. The front desk was very helpful and kind. The room was more spacious then expected. The room was also clean and very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area. I fact, even thought about heading home in this direction just to stay here!
Great place to stay when you are coming to town for a quick visit. Staff at check in was very nice.Pool was great too. Comfortable bed and great pressure in the shower. Would stay here again, as you can not beat the price.
Nice room complete with pull out makeup mirror loved that. It appears that motel wants to stand apart on the rest of them . they do that just fine. The breakfast was great with fresh strawberries melons and diffrent kinds of yogurts to choose from even real donuts that were not the vending machine kind. whoo yoo ... After many days on the road to get a decent breakfast it stand out. Also the room had two sinks so much easier while trying to get ready to go. I would stay here again staff friendly as well.
This hotel is wonderful. The rooms, in the annex are large and spotlessly clean. They all, have fridges, TVs and microwaves. The location is great as you are close to three restaurants and a couple of bars plus not far from the centre. The thing that makes this, hotel stand out is the staff. We stay in a lot of hotels and I have yet to find one with super staff like this one. They are so friendly helpful and go,out of,their way to make you feel at home. The bar is small but nice and the breakfast room is a nice size. They have a nice range of hot and cold foods plus fresh fruit. The eggs are always cooked superbly . Everyplace in the hotel,is clean etc. The pool is a nice size and there is a hot tub and something I love, a steam room.
Nice facility and welcoming staff. Local friends say they like it better than the BW outside of town where it is very windy. Parking a little constrained. Interesting small display case near lobby with Native American artifacts. Small casino next to the pool. Breakfast buffet included chicken fried steak and (cold) hash browns, biscuits & gravy, instant oatmeal, fresh fruit bowl, disappointing donut. I would prefer breakfast without any TV but at least it was tuned to HLN and not Fox. We would stay here again.
Front exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good recommendation for meals. Room was really clean and comfortable bed. Cookies were nice touch. Breakfast looked good even though we didn't eat there. Glad we stayed there
My Husband, sons and grandsons had a great visit in Havre and surrounding towns. The room was clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced. We went to another hotel in Helena that cost much more and offered a lot less. When we return to Havre for a visit we will want to stay at the Best Western Plus Great Northern Inn.
The pet friendly rooms are nice but no place to take dog out (alleys are scary places!). The staff is great and it is very clean and nice. Don't forget a hairdryer as rooms DO NOT have them. Overall a nice place . I found the bed to be way to firm but that is an individual choice.
The hotel seemed older and could use some updates. However it was clean and that is my biggest area of concern. The staff was friendly. The use of the back door did not allow use of cart because of stairs. Breakfast was full of choices. The breakfast area is also shared by the casino guests. We did get a good nights rest.
We stayed here one night on our way to Glacier National Park. The service of all hotel staff was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast had a good variety of food. Located in town and with in walking distance of places to eat.
Stayed here 3 nights. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the front desk staff are friendly. The morning breakfast offers a wide range of options. The only downside was the parking. They had construction going on in front of hotel, which made for limited spaces. I was lucky because I'm from Havre so I know this. But all rooms on the north side of hotel. Face the railroad yard, great if you like trains. But you will hear them 24/7.
We stayed here for 3 nights. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and checked in. After being in the car all day we thought a shower before dinner was a good idea. Soon as we pulled back the shower curtain we notice the drain clogged with hair. So on our way out we reported this and were told due to the late hour housekeeping had gone home. So we assured it would be taken care as soon as they got in. So we were out early that morning and come back to find our room cleaned but the hair clump still in the drain. So we went straight back and informed the front desk. This time housekeeping was still here so we waited in the room while it was cleaned. By this time I was dreading the rest of the stay but in all fairness the rest of the stay was wonderful. The drinks we had while waiting for the clean up we weren't charged for and the staff we fantastic. So all in all it was a poor start but a strong finish.
The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The free breakfast was good and sufficient. Only disappointment was the booking process. Called the Best Western booking line and was quoted $115 usd and told they do not honor Canadian veterans. Found a better rate through booking.com, $80 usd for a room with 2 queen beds. Upon arrival was told we had to pay an additional $10 usd for the 2 queen beds and that they do, indeed honor all veterans. Too much misinformation put a damper on our stay.
The room was clean and the A/C works, and that's about the end of the good points. I understand that Havre is a major railroad town, and that the main strip is located next to the railroad tracks, but why do the motels need to locate on the this thin strip of land between the tracks and the highway? Anywhere cross the highway would have been much better. Even the best architect could not possibly eliminate the noise of the traffic and trains in this location. The motel is literally surrounded by asphalt, baking in the sun. There are a couple trees in a thin ribbon next to the highway, but otherwise no green space, which makes it seem all the more dusty, dry and hot. The sidewalks to nearby restaurants are almost completely buried under the dirt, making a leisurely stroll to supper akin to a hike down a busy gravel road. Inside the building, the wifi is very, very slow, but the really crazy part is the breakfast. By 6:30 AM the hot food was gone, and while there is a sign stating “Decaf Coffee” there was no actual pot there. A request at the front desk brought someone over a few minutes later doing something behind the counter in the kitchen area, but no more food, and no decaf. There were muffins, doughnuts, etc, but no more eggs, hash browns or sausages. We did notice a person (assumed to be a manager) behind the glass door in the office reading a magazine, but doing nothing to accommodate the increasing group of hungry travelers looking for more substantial food than sweets and cold cereal. In summary, a disappointing experience.
There was a party that the hotel staff allowed in the conference room until nearly 11:00 PM! Breakfast offerings were good but the scrambled eggs were kind of yuck. Room was clean and pleasant but there was not quite enough lighting. The soap dispenser in the shower was a nice touch even though we brought our own. Overall average visit but request to not be put near any conference rooms when making your reservation.
Stayed here 3 weeks in April 2018. Typical hot breakfast. Not as quiet as some best western plus which doesn't help. No guest laundry but the gas station next door has one. Not much to do in havre. Would stay here again. Ask for a room on the back side, it might be quieter.
Awesome, as usual. I highly recommend this hotel. Staff is awesome and is in a great location. We stay here every time we visit Havre and have never been disappointed. The staff is very accommodating and all are very professional and friendly.
Travelling through and stayed at this hotel. Great value for our dollar. Very pleasant young man at check in and facilitated a special room location for us. Room was lean and well appointed with necessary amenities. Breakfast had a great selection - excellent! But BEWARE! The in room coffee kcups (Mauds Maui) were strong enough to be used as paint peeler!!
Easy to find, good location. Super pleased with my stay, check in was easy and painless. Comfortable clean room. A little overly perfumed for my allergies but large and really quiet. I would stay again.
Stayed there on business for eleven weeks. Very good breakfast with a variety of food to choose from. Fresh fruit & filtered water in the lobby for an evening snack. The full soap dipsensers in the showers were very convenient. Thanks you guys, I enjoyed my stay!???????
Whenever we travel Montana's "Highline" we plan to stay at the Great Northern Best Western in Havre. We can count on a clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, and all the amenities we need. The location is great - within easy walking distance to many things in town, and a great restaurant right across the street!
This hotel is very clean, the staff is super friendly, helpful and fast. The rooms are very clean, the beds comfy and the pillows are superb! The location is good.(restaurant across the street, and gas station next door. Easy to find when you come into the city. The vending and ice machines are easy to find. The only complaint was that the lounge was closed for thanksgiving ;)
I have stayed at this Motel several times over the last 18 years and have never been disappointed. The staff is always helpful and friendly and the rooms are always clean. The location is great, close to down town with a convenient store and restaurant right next door.
This hotel has outstanding, professional service and each time we stay the service gets better and better. This is a direct result of the Manager Kellen and the Front Desk manager Jessica . I can not say enough about how their professionalism, their friendly demeanor and how helpful they are. Your company is truly fortunate to have such dedicated and professional management. Gayla, who is an excellent house keeper, in the Annex is wonderful. The rooms are always super clean and tidy in addition, she is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast has a nice selection of hot and cold offerings and they are always adding new items. The latest is a nice selection of fresh fruit. The staff in the breakfast room are very attentive and friendly. There is also plenty of free parking and the hotel has a small lounge overlooking the hot tub and pool.
On road for too many hours, location was easy to find on GPS Found room easily, thank goodness elevator for 3rd floor access. Breakfast was welcoming however some of food (eggs) was a not as fresh as expected from BW.
The staff behind the counter was very gracious and helpful with any of my needs. The room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was hot and ready at 6:00 am and plenty of choices of different things to eat. Everything at this establishment was clean.
Accommodations and service at this hotel was excellent from the time we checked in to the time we checked out... the breakfast room was fully stocked and kept clean and our rooms were very clean. We had to arrive early in the am due to appointment that left us without our vehicle and they made it possible to check in and take advantage of the free breakfast .
My wife and I lived in Havre for 6 years. We had to stay a night in a hotel so we could close on the sale of our house. We choose a suite. It was clean and nice. The breakfast food was so so. The coffee was good! :) The breakfast area was very clean. Thank you.
Our stay at the Great Northern Best Western was very pleasant. The room was clean and everything worked. Breakfast was good and it was great to use the breakfast area to gather with family. I have stayed here before and will again.
The pool was clean as well as their rooms.Staff were also very good at their job.Easy to find and a pleasant view of the motels appearance. We stayed in their suite and it was very large. There was plenty of room with two bathrooms in it.
The rooms are big and have all the modern amenities. The free breakfast was great with a very large selection of foods. at check - in hotel provides coupons for 4 different places, buy 1 drink and get 1 free plus $5.00 casino match play.
We had a flawless stay from check in, to tuck in, to breakfast and goodbye. Very clean, great beds and amenities (fitness center, bar, pool...) Breakfast had lots of great extra “stuff” (Cheese sticks, Nutella, fruits...) Loves the place. Staff was awesome. Oh! It's by the train yard, this didn't bother us at all but if it might bother you, ask for a street facing room. There were ear plugs on the night stand, but we didn't need them on the back side. Also the WiFi was super fast.
As usual my time spent at the hotel was relaxing. In every aspect the hotel staff were efficient, helpful and able to take care of my needs no matter how big or small. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.
It Does Not Get Any Better!!!!! Suite was Great. People were Great. Breakfast was Great. Very Clean. Smelled Great. I/We will be going back to Havre, MT numerous times in the future and would not consider staying anywhere else but here.
Comfortable, clean hotel with complimentary breakfast. We were looking for a one night stay on our drive from Canada back to Minnesota. There are not a lot of options along the route we wanted to take but this hotel was the perfect location.
Very helpful and courteous staff. Clean and welcoming rooms. Restaurants near and nice swimming pool for the kids! ENJOYED! Highly recommended for a family looking to relax! Encouraged for a stay vacation too, as we only live 4 miles from this hotel!
I stay here every time I come to town. They are always clean and rooms and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is good with a nice selection of choices. The service is good and friendly. Location is conveniently located in town.
Right across from a good restaurant, friendly staff, excellent breakfast!! We traveled through quickly but it was worth not having to go off the highway to look for it. We walked across the street and had a nice meal. Breakfast was great!
Always clean - quiet - helpful staff. Close to sites especially the Bears Paw Mountains. Nice restaurants walking distance away. Montanans are always the friendliest. Havre is a beautiful town, good shopping, and a vibrant college community. College football on the Hi-Line! Rail and airport convenient
The people that work there are friendly I love the UNited States we never get this kind of value in Canada I rarely travel in Canada because even with money exchange the value is cheaper than in Canada. The hotels in Canada should take a page from the United States Canada is just plain greedy
My wife's comment upon seeing our room was "why do we always seem to get the nicest rooms when we're only staying one night"! This Inn was a great place, great room, great staff...got my wife an extra box of tissues for her cold! Right across the street from a fine place to eat...cookies at the front desk...we'll remember Havre and it's Best Western Plus.
We stayed 08/28/2017. The hotel is clean starting from the entrance to the rooms. Friendly staff at check in, we were early enough in the day, they gave us a first floor front room. There is a railroad behind the hotel. The coffee was on in the lobby. A small bar with slot machines in adjoining room off the breakfast area. The lady working there was pleasant and also back the next day for breakfast. There is a gas station next door, a couple of restaurants across the street. We ate at the Duck Inn across the street , salad and sandwiches food was good. Hotel having good staff and a clean hotel, good night sleep we will return here if we are in the area and recommend to others.
Clean, quiet and comfortable with very helpful front staff. Pointed us to "Havre Under the Streets" Museum which was excellent and also recommended a very good restaurant. Very reasonably priced. A lot more to see in the area so we plan to stay here again.
We booked a two night stay and we don't regret it at all. The place is clean, with good sized room and friendly staff. There are also a few restaurants that are within walking distance, which made it nice. The breakfast area we very nice and had a good selection unless you are on a specialized diet due to medical issues. For me it was no big deal because I bring food with me. They also have a nice heated pool.
Love this hotel. We always choose this hotel when going to Havre. Interior of hotel and interior of room always clean and comfortable. Great varied breakfast, awesome staff, and really close to amenities.
The hotel is on the east end of town. It has several good restaurants near by. Rooms and beds were good. The internet was good as well. Breakfast was pretty much blah..it was good, just the same thing as everywhere else.
This room was located across the road from office where we checked in. Room was very large right next to the road. We were concerned with road noise but after 10 pm traffic was lighter and we didn't notice it.
The Great Northern in Havre, MT is a super fine hotel. Staff is very friendly and efficient Rooms are large, clean, and well appointed. Breakfast is complete even with REAL silverware available, Price is moderate for such quality. Stay here with no worries.
I like to think I have the stomach of a billy goat, but breakfast here convinced me otherwise. I would stay here again, but I will not waste my time or effort on the breakfast. Just go across the street and pay for a good start to your day. My value rating dropped due to the lost already paid value of the breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay. The place is clean and well maintained. Our room was comfortable, the hot tub and pool were clean and not overly chlorinated. The bar is wine & beer only, but they had a good selection of beer from craft and major breweries. They have a casino with video machines - we aren't really into gambling, but the hotel matched the first $5 played so my wife and I had a good time playing video slots until our $10 ran out.
Hill County was in an Fire Emergency and Best western stepped up with rooms for some of our firefighters. They went well beyond just to make sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend them. There service was above and beyond. They had us covered making sure they had rooms available if we needed them. They deserve a 10 star rating. Many thanks. Mark Peterson, Hill County Commissioner
We got there and were told we'd be in the annex. I don't know if that was because I booked the room under a "flash sale" promotion time (cheaper rate) or not. It was a surprise at first but was fine later. Room was across the street from main motel but was clean and quiet. It was a fun visit, There are many areas to go within walking distance for dinner and drinks. Hotel was clean and well presented. Staff was friendly.
A clean room, a comfortable bed and friendly professional staff. While the lounge is small, it was friendly and had a good atmosphere. Close to restaurants and amenities. While we did not attend the free breakfast, the breakfast area looked clean, and modern.
We stayed here because we were going with our grandson to start a new chapter in his life. The staff were wonderful, and very helpful. We will definitely stay at this facility again if we are in the area.
Clean and convenient with a gas station next door and 2 restaurants across the street. Breakfast was ok. Rates were a tad high actually for "Havre", but there ain't much else for 4 hours in either direction to be honest. We'd stay again. Note - the hotel provides earplugs due to being less than 100 yards from the train lines and junction.
To sum it up our stay it was great including staff and hotel The hotel was clean staff was friendly breakfast was good all the breakfast food was great and more then we expected Rooms were clean and also bed was comfortable Thank you
There isn't much you can say about a new property like this one. Everything here is exactly what you would expect. The room has all the amenities. There was a sitting table where you could eat there was a couch where you could sit. The bathroom even had a hair dryer and a bag hung on the door. Not those screwed to the wall kind. The only unusual thing was they had body wash and shampoo stuck to the wall of the shower surround. That wasn't bad just looked a little tacky compared to the rest of the place. The microwave did take an inordinate amount of time to cook a frozen dinner. The bed was comfy and if anything the pillows were little too fluffy. The breakfast was a full spread of morning fare. The only thing I could've done better was to perhaps have made my reservation online. I'm not sure I got the best price.
Because we didn't know at what time we would leave Canada, this was the only night on at the start of a 23 road trip we had not booked. We were very pleased with the cost and room we had. Everthing was clean, the bed comfortable, staff courteous and the breakfast although the normal BW fare was to a good standard.
If you are traveling by train or driving through Havre MT, I recommend staying at the BWP Great Northern Inn. Shuttle service to and from the train station is available. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are extremely well cared for and the hot breakfast that is available gets you off to a great start in the morning. It is across the street from several fine restaurants and close to a number of casinos.
Nice facility, good breakfast. Good restaurant across the street. This is a major railroad town and there are locomotives behind a fence on the back side of this property. We DID NOT have any problem with noise.
I have stayed a couple times with my family and the hotel is always clean, staff is friendly, breakfast is good and the wifi works! Beds are comfortable, but I could have used a pillow that was a little more firm. Our room faced the railway yard which didn't bother us, but if you don't do well with noise then you may want to make sure and ask for a room that faces the street. Overall it was a great stay.
This is a very clean hotel located near the center of the city in close proximity to several restaurants. Rooms were clean and breakfast was delicious. Check in and checking out were expeditious and efficient.
Great Northern Inn offers exceptional service and accommodation for modest price. Rooms and comfortable and squeaky clean. The property is ideally located for train buffs. Trackside rooms are available. The inn is across the street from two excellent steakhouses and more. The inn has maintained itself at a high standard. Look no further, pay no more!
Wasn't sure what to expect as this was our first overnight in Havre. Staff was first rate. Hotel appeared to be somewhat old but was well kept up. We had booked a upper floor street facing room to avoid noise from the rail lines which are behind the building. Our room was quite and comfortable
We went on a 3 night road trip and had a very pleasant stay at the Best Western Northern Inn in Havre Montana. Just came here on a whim, and had a great time checking out this very pleasant town! We loved the convenience and all the amenities this hotel offered! Will definitely stay here again on our way through!
We were very happy with our stay at the Great Northern. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. Our only beef had more to do with Best Western itself as they did not honour their lowest price guarantee, which had motivated us to book through BW directly rather than taking a better deal on Orbitz (they cited a 48 hour clause...we booked more than 24 hours in advance). Our mistake, and one we won't be making next time.
Hotel was nice. Stayed there to attend a wedding. Front Desk clerk worked with us to get us other rooms as our were not ready at check-in so that we could get ready to attend wedding. Very friendly. Pool was open until 11 pm. which made for some happy grandkids! Free breakfast with many options available until 10 a.m.
The hotel was great! Headed by people with an attitude of service. Breakfast was not quite up to par...food that day was cold. Room, beds, amenities, location all very good! It was an excellent choice for our family reunion and time for a memorial service and burial for a loved uncle. The reception room was a great bonus.
Best bed, pillows I have slept in the last month. I woke refreshed and ready for the day. It was quiet and the noise from the moving trains was not heard to wake sleep pattern. thanks for a great experience.
We went to Havre for an all-star tournament. At check out it was very fast we were in our room within 15 minutes if check in. We were in front of the train hub is what they called it but we didn't hear a train at night for our entire stay. The cleaning staff was very friendly, the room clean and we were on the main floor and didn't have to fight with all the stuff we had to get to the elevator.
A real hotel with modern clean comfortable rooms at a decent price with helpful staff. Heading home after a lengthy road trip staying where we could wherever we found ourselves at the end of the day, this turned out to be a very welcome sight. Can't go wrong with Best Western. And yay-a decent breakfast (better than most) was included.
We always stay here when in Havre. The hotel staff are always smiling and happy that we are there. They are always so helpful. The rooms are large and very clean. The king size bed is so comfy and we always get a good nights sleep. I enjoy having a fridge and microwave available to use in each room. They also have complementary cookies when you check in about 3:00 o'clock. The coffee and cold drinks are also available at any time for the their guests. Thank you.
Nothing negative about this facility. Good location, easy parking, very clean, roomy, with more than usual amenities The staff were all helpful and friendly. I am not likely to be in this area again, but if so, would definitely stay here again.
The Best Western Plus Hotel In Havre, MT was a good choice. The hotel was very clean and up to date, the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The bed was very comfortable with very nice linens. Nice places to eat were in very close proximity to the hotel and casino. I did not use the casino so I caan't comment on it. I did use the pool, spa, and fitness center and found them to be very nice. The fitness center was very well equiped and clean. The pool and spa area seemed to be well maintained and the water was crystal clear. Great jeats in the hot tub although I felt it could have used a bit more water but it was late evening and could have been splashed out by earlier users. I would definatly stay at this hotel if my travels should ever take me back to Havre, MT again.
First of all, they are pet friendly, and very nice about it. They actually messed up my reservation a little on the dog this time (I've stayed there many times), and fixed it without a fuss. The pool is indoors, and open all year long (sort of a bummer it's indoors during the summer...but this IS Montana!). Decent breakfast options considering it's included (eggs, breakfast meat, waffles, pancakes, fruit salad, coffee, tea, cereal). Accessible, helpful staff. It's pretty much my go-to place to stay in Havre.
We stopped here as part of a road trip and loved it. We weren't checked in 15 minutes and I was in the pool. The staff were friendly, the room/bed very comfortable. Honestly, it was one of my favorite places we stayed on this trip. I see someone mentioned asking for streetside, which is quieter. We were on the back side. There's a sound barrier wall, then a railroad year. We did hear engines idling all night, but it wasn't bad at all. In fact, it seemed just like the engines of the ships when we've cruised, so we just imagined that and slept great.
Great staff to assist a tired traveler. Stayed here for several days. Rooms are very clean and the bed was very comfortable.Several restaurant options are directly across the street. They have keurigs in your room (love that first cup of coffee).so it was great not having to make water downed coffee first thing in the morning. The breakfast hostess was wonderfully accommodating for a non meat eater, and eggs were available. The waffle's were okay. Very nice team on all shifts. Need to get word and powerpoint on the hotel guest computer.
Very nice rooms, decent breakfast, good location, easy to navigate from. Right across the street from some nice restaurants, fairly close to the college. I would definitely recommend, and stay here again, when I'm in the area.
A very nice experience here.....friendly, clean, comfortable.. great breakfast......all around a very enjoyable stay once again. It is our choice whenever we are in Havre, Montana. We always stay in a room that faces the street, not the railway tracks.....much quieter.
We stopped at this hotel on our way back to Canada, as Havre is close to the boarder. Check in was quick, staff seemed friendly. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was decent. The hotel has a pool, but we did not go in it. Good value for the price.
I spent 2 nites in the great northern b.w. It is the best option in havre at this time . The service was great, room was average . Bathroom exhaust fan not operational and seemed to be a lack of furniture in the room, No place to set a suitcase other than the floor and lacking a lounge chair. Once the new B.W. which is being built is open, will probably start staying there.
The staff at this place is very accommodating. The hotel is located within an easy walk to area restaurants. The rooms are nice, they provide a nice, complimentary breakfast, and have a lounge and a nice pool.
Very clean and friendly staff great place to stay! Would recommend this Best Western for anyone that is traveling to Havre Montana. Very convenient location across the street is the Duck Inn Restaurant fantastic place to eat.
Thank you for a great stay, we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Mason was very knowledgeable about restaurants and entertainment in Havre. So awesome when you're brand new to a town. Also loved our jetted tub in our room.
My wife and me went there to spend a night do some shopping have Good diner and play in the little casano. When we check Inn it was very fast and professional the room was very clean the bed was cofterable and the morning breakfast was nice they had a good selection of food and check out was very fast and professional nice place
We stayed one night. The rooms were very clean and neat. The bed was comfortable as was the large chair and foot stool. The breakfast was tasty and had much more offered than just continental items. Would stay again.
Breakfast was included and was also better than average fare. Location is nice but road noise from main thoroughfare out front wasn't conducive to sleep. I'd suggest a a room on the backside of the hotel. The room was clean but a bit tired. It did have a small microwave and fridge.
If you're passing on through Havre or the Hi Line, Best Western would be a good choice. It's Clean, Parking in easy, and it's affordable. I would recommend spending 1 night and checking out Havre.....
Good place to stay in Havre Montana. Good clean modern hotel, appears to be fairly new. Staff was helpful. At least two good choices for dinner within walking distance. Near rail yard but very quiet. Nice lobby historic displays. Breakfast was your standard hotel breakfast offering.
Driving across the US (Ontario to Vancouver) we booked a room here. As Havre is a small town, we really didn't know what to expect, but this hotel was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and when we checked out, the breakfast room was empty but had several very tempting items, not just a continental breakfast but a full breakfast!
We found out third floor room facing the train yard to be a train lovers paradise. The room was great! If only there had been a swivel chair to see everything moving by. Uncle Joes steakhouse across the street was an excellent choice. We enjoyed out stay and will probably go out of our way to stay here again.
The Bestwestern in Havre Mt. has extra rooms across from the main building. At first I thought I would not like, being it was away from the kitchen, business office, etc, but it turned out to be nice quiet stay.
I know Havre is a small town and frankly I didn't expect much. This BWPlus was nicer than the larger hotel I stayed in in Missoula! The staff was friendly. The room was very pleasant. The breakfast had real eggs!! There is some road noise - Highway 2 is a busy road - but I didn't not hear any train noise at all. The price was acceptable.
For a small town with few hotels, this is s good choice. The room was clean and comfortable. The price was reasonable. If you are a light sleeper the train yard out the back side of the hotel might keep you up. There were earplugs on the nightstand for a reason. If you are a railroad buff you might call it heaven. The hotel has a pool and a small video casino. There is a restaurant directly across the street.
My room was clean and comfortable. The staff was quite helpful finding a phone charger for me to use as I had forgotten mine. I found the soda/water machines to be fairly priced as well. I would recommend both Best Western Hotels in Havre to anyone traveling through the area.
Great place to stay. Came for Rocky Mountain College football game and stayed here last year. Would stay here again. The breakfast had many choices, room was clean and staff very friendly. Conveniently close to restaurants and football field.
We were looking forward to catching up on clean clothes here; imagine our surprise when we were told that the washers/dryers were across the parking lot at the RV park!!! (We didn't take advantage of it.) The location of this hotel is right next to railroad tracks and where train cars are loaded up, so there is constant noise. We left the fan/air conditioning on all night to drown it out. The hotel was fine, average in cleanliness and every other way.
very nice people with a great manager. central reservations had made a slight mistake and the manager was very professional and quick with making sure all went smooth for me. real cups for the coffee with a breakfast that actually had flavor. would do again in a heartbeat
We have stayed here 2 times now and have loved the facilities and the friendliness of the staff. Clean and always ready and willing to help you out in any way they can. We definitely recommend this hotel and will stay whenever we come to Havre, MT
My reservation got canceled instead of postponed as I had asked, and the hotel was booked solid; they were able to get me a room in time. The room (single queen) is very green, nice and clean, comes with fridge and microwave, desk, comfy chair, and a nice sitting table.
This is the first Best Western we've stayed in on this cross country trip. We've mostly stuck to Comfort Inns. There was no Comfort Inn in Havre so we chose this Great Northern, and we were very pleased with it. The price was very reasonable and the room and lobby and breakfast area were all great. The room was a very good size, had a wonderfully comfy chair, and was clean and updated. There is a nice display of Native and Lewis and Clark artifacts just off the lobby. Ducks Inn across the street was fine for dinner.
Clean rooms. Right on the highway...but very little traffic. Could not hear any road noise at night. Pool and casino on site. Pool was cloudy and was overlooked by the casino..not a welcome place to relax! Restaurant across from hotel...two choices..one very pricey and the other middle of the road but our food was very poor and restaurant didn't look clean. We chose this BW because it was cheaper than the other one in town. Was a quick overnight stop. Can't believe the nimbler of casinos in town..seems like anybody can run one..never wasted a dime!
This hotel is about one hundred feet from the freight line, hence the name Great Northern inn. Not only is is noisy from the locomotive engines running all day and all night, the loyalty you'd expect after staying for 2 weeks several years in a row isn't part of the staff's business acumen. There are a couple of other choices in town. I recommend you try another hotel before staying here. The best available rate is, "oh so sorry, we only have the higher priced room available." Horrible breakfast too. All of the food is gone within the first hour where after the staff walks around in a circle not knowing what to do. Housekeeping is disappointing too by being late and barely providing fresh towels.
Great place to stay at. Was concerned on arrival if there would be a noise factor because of close location to train tracks , but during the evening and night all was quiet. The room was big, clean and had well maintained nice furniture. The bed was very comfortable and everything worked including wifi. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety , good quality of breakfast foods, fresh and plentiful Will be coming back to stay for sure.
Nice hotel, good breakfast, friendly staff, and lots of food options within walking distance. There are several restaurants nearby, we ate at the Duck Inn across the street twice, good burgers and decent lunch buffet. Uncle Joe's is also across the street and I order the rib-eye every time I go there. There is a pizza place about a half block away, but bring cash.
We stayed here one night, walk-in, while traveling through Montana. Everything was very nice, clean, and comfortable as one would expect from a BW Plus. The pool area was nice to relax in after a long day of driving and breakfast had everything we needed to get started the next day. I basically rated this stay as average, simply because I expect this level of quality at this type of place and was not disappointed.
The rooms are standard rooms, people are nice and it is in a good location in Havre. It is in a walkable location. The only strange thing is, if you like to use the pool when you travel, like I do. This is an indoor pool that the casino looks into. They are separated by a glass wall.
The hotel is in a great location near some great sites and places to eat. The price is right and the staff is well trained and willing to help. The provided free Wi-Fi is easy to use and access and can handle even the strenuous activities of posting photos to your favorite social media site.
The hotel was clean and the decor was updated. There's a newer Best Western at the other end of town, but we got a great rate at this one, and it was a nice place. The beds were comfortable, it had a nice exercise room and a pool (although the pool was chilly), and the breakfast was above average (real sausage gravy, if you like biscuits and gravy), and lots of choice. The in-room wi fi was a little slow, especially at night (we arrived at the same time as a big tour bus). The staff was the best part, however. Each of the front desk clerks we worked with went above and beyond to help us out. We made the reservation on Priceline and had only one bed. The first desk clerk we worked with made sure we joined the rewards program so we could upgrade for free and get a bed for the 2 kids. Would recommend.
After a long day on the motorcycle this hotel was the best choice, never had a bad bed in a Best Western. Everything was perfect, from real coffee mugs in the room to silverware in the breakfast area, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Thumbs up for this hotel.
Used TripAdvisor to select hotel. Called for reservation and got a better rate than TripAdvisor. We even got an upgrade at checkin. Very kind staff. Room was very clean and fancy. Comfortable bed. Microwave and refrigerator. Nice shower head. Breakfast had plenty, including scrambled eggs and sausage links. Would return.
My title says it all-everything was positive about our stay. Service, cleanliness, quiet, brunch, bed and pillows were comfortable. Wish all of our hotels on our trip met their standards. Keep driving on First Street to find it. It's toward the opposite edge of town if you're driving through on highway 2.
I was very impressed with the hotel and the overall experience there. The exterior and interior were excellent. The staff were were helpful and efficient. The room itself was tastefully done and the bed was very comfortable. If I was ever in the Havre, Montana area again I would not hesitate to stay there.
I spent 2 days. First day waiting for my eye surgery appointment, Second day recovering so I could drive home! I stayed in my room all the time, except for a three hour stint at the local hospital. The room at the Inn was very quiet, considering it's location close to a major highway.
I stay here often. I can be confident that the rooms are clean, and the staff professional. The breakfast was very good and they have someone there to assist you. It is right next to the railroad yard. The noise has never bothered me.
Location is great. The north side of the building is against the rail tracks so that is the only potential issue. I never heard a thing. New building with nice decor. Good selection for the breakfast bar. What makes them stand out is how friendly and helpful the front desk staff are, as well as the girls who serviced the rooms. They had first hand knowledge of the area to make solid recommendations from points of interest to restaurants. A shuttle service can get you to related properties if needed.
We were in town for a wedding and this was the hotel that many stayed at. We had a suite for the three of us, which suited out stay nicely. Location was very good for us. We didn't use the pool, but it looked like a good one. We would happily stay there again!
The rooms were clean and spacious which is the immediate plus. The staff at reception desk were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was fine...typical. The owner of this place is also the owner (I think) of the restaurants across the street ... Duck Inn and Mediterranean Bistro. So when we asked for dinner recommendations they suggested the Duck Inn. Perhaps a bit self serving, but the restaurant choices are slim in that town. More about that in the next review.
The shuttle to & from the Amtrak was very good & the staff were great. Everything was within easy walking distance, the bed was comfortable & clean & TV selection was good. Staff was helpful & breakfast was good with waffles & eggs
I will be staying at this hotel twice a week going forward. This is a business stop and I am glad the motel is of excellent quality, since I have to stay there many times during the month. Found staff to be great!
Always appreciate having a Best Western hotel in town where I can stick to keeping all my points with one chain. This hotel is clean, well kept and close to a decent restaurant. While not the newest in town, I can't complain about the quality of the stay. On my most recent visit they'd changed up the eggs at breakfast - the whole in place of scrambled omelet version is a welcome relief for BW chains. If you don't like railroad noise, request a south-side room.
I was so pleased with my stay. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast was delicious and had a variety of gluten free and dairy free options, and my room was clean, a very comfortable. And guests receive free wi-fi and there's a business center and printer. This was one of the best places I have stayed! Thank you Havre, Best Western!
This Best Western is conveniently located in Havre near groceries (at a convenience store right next door) and within range of 3 restaurants. Our room was a good size, clean, and quiet. There was a indoor pool and I think whirlpool which we did not use. The staff was friendly and helpful. I don't think you can go wrong with a Best Western
Motel is modern, still new, and clean. It has a full morning breakfast included in the price with waffles, eggs, sausage/bacon, muffins, sweet rolls, toast, yogurt, apple, cranberry, orange juices, milk, coffee, and more.
We have tried this hotel twice both times the pool was so cold we couldn't use it, this last the time the hot tub was freezing. We thought we had a reservation with this hotel and we even quoted a price. The young guy at the desk said he had nothing but he could find us a room at twice the price. When we said Inns he could of said maybe you mean the place down the road. It's a nice motel but it was way way to expensive for the area. We got a room full of he next night for half the price and the pool was warm, service and rooms were fantastic
The rooms are spacious and very clean. Even with the railroad behind the hotel it is pretty quiet. Easy location to get to. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a good breakfast that is freshly cooked on site. We will be back. Lots of restaurants and pubs a short distance away.
One of the very few train roundtables left on the continent and we were given ear plugs just in case the noise was something we weren't used to. Well the little noise those trains made certainly didn't bother us as a matter of fact we enjoyed it. Love those trains and rather disappointed we couldn't see them up close. BW always comes through and breakfast was delicious .......had a great night's sleep thanks BW
This Best Western Plus has been revitalized and is a comfortable stay. This older hotel is also known as the Duck Inn and not to be confused with the brand new Best Western Plus at the bison jump in Great Falls. This hotel has a nice breakfast and smaller pool.
Located between the main street and the railway lines, this is a well appointed Best Western. There are security cameras in the common areas and the front desk can monitor what's going on night and day. My room on the third floor was big and wide open with lots of room for luggage. The decor is a little dark, but there are plenty of mirrors. The window opened about half way, as the room was quite stuffy, but the noise from the tracks is pretty constant. The air conditioner is reasonably quiet. The flat-screen TV was reasonably large and viewable from both double beds. The remote was freshly cleaned, but the list of TV channels was badly inaccurate. The internet was OK, but occasionally chopped in and out when I was watching a movie. The work desk is too small for much more than a laptop and there was only one outlet nearby to plug in electronics. A good layout for the bathroom, two sinks, a little bit of space (the coffee maker takes up a lot of room) and strong water pressure in the shower. The shampoo and conditioner are very small containers and they were not replaced when my room was serviced, so I ran out on the second morning. The bath towels didn't seem very big, but there were plenty of them. The breakfast was quite nice, with fresh scrambled eggs and sausage in addition to a good selection of fresh pastries. The coffee is pretty poor.
The staff at the Best Western was great, the bar/Lounge staff were great. I Did not like the breakfast. The choice of food was very small. The eggs were running, and the gravy was cold. But overall. Not a bad place to stay in Havre.
Hotel was very clean and the breakfast was very good, staff was friendly and courteous. Pool and fitness center are very good. The wireless internet was of good speed. There is no business center the computers are setup in the hotel lobby.
Stayed one night whilst on a road trip.Arrived in pouring rain and cover over entrance was taken up by the courtesy van and a customers car. Needs a little bigger cover or move the courtesy van. Hotel has a casino attached. The property is older but has had a good renovation. It does have a busy road out front and railroad tracks out the back. Surprisingly we didn't have any noise issues with a back room facing the railroad. The breakfast was good, plenty to choose from. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast lady was not very happy and didn't seem to interact with the guests. The location is good for travelers using Hwy 2, there is a restaurant across the street and a gas station right next door.
I have stayed here many times and I really enjoy the south annex rooms. Very clean and quiet and the amenities are great. The duck Inn has great food especially the sunday brunch. Rooms are spacious with refrigerators and microwaves
My family stayed at this hotel for 1 night while visiting MSU Northern. When I walked in the hotel itself was very quite and seemed pretty clean. The hotel clerk was very nice. We had booked the "Executive Suite" cause it was big enough to fit all of us without having to book 2 rooms. It was nice and roomy, I can't see any real "Executives" booking this room, it's more like a party room. There were "whitest stains" on the window curtains and couch pillows... hummm. When we opened up the two hide-a-beds one had no sheets or blankets on it the other had a sheet kind of on it with popcorn all over it. We called to have someone come up and check it out, she clean up the stains from the pillow and curtains, she said it could be lotion or something, 'believe me it wasn't lotion'. Said she'd get bedding for the hide-a-beds, that never happened until we called again, someone brought bedding up and left. Since when do you have to make up your own beds when paying $$$ for a nice hotel room. If it hadn't been so late we would have looked for another hotel to stay that night, but after driving all day we just wanted to wind down and get some rest. The rail yard is right in back of the hotel. The trains came through a few times that night, but the only thing that really kept us from sleeping was the uncomfortable king size bed and kids ended up putting the mattresses from the hide-a-beds on the floor so they could sleep. The Full Breakfast the next morning left a lot to be desired... A couple of good things were the pool and sauna. We found another hotel for our second night in Harve.
Staff was very friendly. Hotel was clean and comfortable but gym needs upgrade. There is plenty of parking and close to a great steak house. Overall I had a great nights sleep and well worth the stay.
Nice hotel with very nice staff. Very large rooms and very clean. If trains bother you ask to stay on side away from tracks. Close to 2 nice eating establishments. Duck Inn limited menu uncle Joes good all around menu.
The hotel room was nice and clean and quite large. Breakfast was a bit sparse on some protein options but loaded with carb options that were good. A word to the wise, ask for ear plugs if the noise of the trains bugs you and keeps you up.
We find the Great Northern Inn, Havre a good place to stay while in Havre. It is close to eating and refueling locations along the hi-way on the east side of town. The breakfast has hot and cold selections.
Staff are very welcoming, rooms are clean and comfortable and great dining place across the street. Rates are great whether for business or pleasure. The rooms are nice sized with comfortable furniture and beds.
Stayed here for 10 days and the property is dated but they are building a new Best Western by the mall. The GM was very nice and discounted the stay as much as she could. The breakfast was ok but clean area and kept up.
Stayed here for one night for work. The hotel was very nice. The rooms was big and clean. I stayed on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was awesome. I've been to a lot of hotels and some have better breakfasts than others. This one was one of the best. They also had a nice long breakfast. The only complaint was my room was right next to the railroad and it was a bit noisy. Other than that is was a good hotel!
Excellent service, comfortable bed, and friendly staff. The reward coupons given upon check in were a great gesture and easy on the pocket book. You do not have to go far to a meal or a drink. If you like to look at BNSF locomotives stay in the main hotel on the north side, but you will hear them running due to load testing. Stay in a room on the south side if you do not like the view or noise of the locomotives. The Annex building across the street is very quiet, but no much for a view.
I can't say enough about the staff and the rooms. I actually stayed across the street where they have an annex building consisting of 10-12 rooms. The woman I spoke with suggested I stay there as I was travelling with my Golden Retriever. She put me in an end room and it was fabulous! Large, clean and very quiet. I am a gluten free person and the free breakfast actually had a few items that I could eat.....scrambled eggs and bacon! Most places have only bread products so I was thrilled. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Driving through Havre, we picked the Best Western Great Northern with the help of Trip Advisor recommendations. Very nice stay--good service. The lobby included displays of western history and native American culture. Enjoyed the pool and spa---loved the Great Northern Railroad theme. I had forgotten that Montana has casinos everywhere- so the pool was next to a little casino facility, which is strange. But no one was really there, so not that big of a deal. I think this would have been true of pretty much any hotel in Havre.
The Best Western, Great Northern is an excellent place to stay in Havre Mt. It is right on #2 Hwy.and has a full breakfast. It is clean and well-kept. The only draw-back is that a busy rail line is right out back and they let those idling diesels run all night long. Light sleepers should ask for a room facing #2 Hwy.
If you want an extremely comfortable and roomy place to stay, the Best Western Great Northern is the best. I travel a lot for business and have stayed here at least 15 times this year. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The staff is so friendly and helpful!!!
Would not recommend this motel unless you currently live beside a rail road track and have gotten used to the noise. The motel was fine, but the noise isn't. They should have built this one outside of town away from the tracks.
A great place to stay. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were nice and modern. A nice breakfast room. Also a small lounge/casino attached so you can relax with a beverage after a long day. This was our 2nd time staying at this motel, and I would stay here again.
Hotel is decent for the price. However it is close to a rail yard and the night I stayed there the yard was busy. If you don't mind noise from the rail yard this is a good choice. The restaurant across the street is decent, I would not recommend the ruben.
My work takes me to the "east side" of the Rockies every once in a while, and this hotel seems to be in just the right spot to settle in for a good night's rest. It IS right on the railroad line (Great Northern!), so rooms on the north side have railroad noise. It's not bad, and they leave earplugs in the room just in case you need them. I've stayed here several times and the service has always been good, the rooms clean, and my stay uneventful. Most of the guests are professionals staying there for work, so it's quiet. If you bring a family, keep that in mind as you tromp down the halls. I'll be back - nice to know there's a consistent place to stay. If you're worried about food - they have a breakfast. And there's a good (if a little pricey) restaurant across the street (Duck Inn).
Perhaps it was because I did not reserve in advance, but I was given a room that overlooked a very active large train yard. I assumed a hotel of this caliber and price would not be situated like this, and decided not to ask for a change, again assuming the train activity would be less during the night. I was wrong. The breakfast was fine, and although there is no restaurant on premises, the hotel provided coupons for local restaurants, including the Duck Inn, which is right across the street and was excellent. The morning desk clerk was very hospitable and directed me to local services I needed before setting out on the road again.
Enjoyed my stay, very nice rooms, breakfast was hot and tastee. The hotel was easy to find just off Hwy 2 and a great location with dinner across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful and it was clean would recommend this place for others.
We have stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 yrs ago and was pleasantly surprised to find it had not changed at all, well maintained and inviting with a great staff. They offer a shuttle to and from the train station, a big help. Loved the view from our room of the train yard.
The rooms at this hotel were super clean, which ranks highly in my book. My entire family was very comfortable. The beds were nice and firm. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The amenities were great providing activity for each family member to best suit their interests. Would highly recommend.
I have never had a problem with Best Western hotels. It was a nice and pleasant place to stay. The room was a good size, very quiet, and had a comfortable bed. Full breakfast. Customer service was great.
I made a classic mistake. I had three times previously stayed at the Great Northern Inn in Havre, Montana, and had a good experience. Because of that, I did not look at the TripAdvisor reviews. What a mistake! Nice people work here and I hate to have to write a bad review but they have no excuse for what happened. On all my previous stays I had a room on the street side of the hotel. This time I was put in Room 312. You don't want to stay there. It is on the railroad side of the hotel. The noise of trains kept me up most of the night. I had a two day reservation and kindly asked, at the front office, if I could be moved to the street side for my second night. No, they said, we will be full tonight. Well, I countered, move me and put someone who is coming in today in Room 312. They wouldn't. It is inexcusable.
Very convenient location to downtown Havre. We met friends at the Duck Inn across the street, and walked to pizza restaurant in the evening. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Rooms were great. Nice pool and treadmill.
Other than the very dirty ceramic coffee cup it was a good stay. I left my printer and got almost home when I called Annette and she took my bag to Great Falls for me and left it at the next Best Western we were to stay at. She went above and beyond and I really appreciate that!
