Best Western Big Country Inn

Wonderful greeting at reception and checking in was easy. I didn't have my rewards card with me, but the receptionist looked it up and even printed it out for me. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was great. Nice also having a restaurant next door so no need to get back into the car for dinner. Perfect!

Room smelled like weed, was masked with spray. People were hanging out in front of the motel drinking and the desk was not doing anything about it because they were motel guests, when I said it made the business look crappy she said she would say something. Killed 3 big bugs in our room. Room was not attended to after our first night. This is located behind gas stations and several trucks were parked on the street in front of the motel with their trucks running.

Great room!! I'd compare this to IHG and Hilton rooms rather than low quality hotels, which is what my past experiences had me expecting. Clean and QUIET room with a good hot breakfast. They even had extras (chocolate) to add to their waffles. Everyone who we had contact with were nice and very helpful. I was even asked if I'd like a tray to take my breakfast back to my room as I was exiting the dining area. I'd return without hesitation and highly recommend.

This is a great hotel right off the freeway across from Harris Ranch. Not only was the room beautiful but the grounds were as well considering it was 108 out that day. Manicured lawn area. Lobby very nice. There is a separate building for the breakfast, which was excellent! Omelets, bacon, hash browns and all of the regular menu items. The pool area was very clean with seating under a shaded area (which you need when it's 108 out!) Very quiet and lots of parking especially if you're towing a boat or trailer. And there are gas stations and convenience stores as well.

Great location, close to Harris Ranch.Great value for what you get! Easy in and easy out. Super clean, up to date, even bottled water included… Nice to have breakfast included and free internet. Would stay here again !!

Clean nice rooms that are updated! Hot breakfast. Great clean and updated rooms! We were pleasantly surprised at how nice, new and clean this off I5 motor inn hotel was! Very impressed. Very nice and helpful staff. Great value for what we paid. Thank you for keeping really clean rooms and clean beds for us with families that are never too sure how clean of a room we are getting when we stop in after road trip driving on I5 without a plan for where to stay other than picking this place when we drive up. :)

Stayed there last year around the same time during their major remodel and was not happy. Came back this year and found the completed remodel fantastic. The breakfast could have been a little better but it was OK. The bathroom had aelongated toilet with soft close seat. You never see that. Thanks. The couch is very low and I had a hard time getting up from it. We would stay there again.

This gem of a motel is right off I-10 but inside it's quiet. The property is exceptionally well maintained, clean & up to date. There is pet walking areas all around it and everyone picks up after their pets. There are a lot of motel kitties “resting” in the shrubs…. They're sweet though. Wifi connectivity is poor. ATT signals almost absent on south side of hotel.

I read the reviews so I was prepared for this to work out, but driving through this part of CA in August I started to worry about what reality would look like. Well, just as described. Large rooms and good AC which is a must in this area. The breakfast was nothing special, but it wasn't bad. Service was fine, everyone we dealt with was friendly and personable. If you find yourself driving up the 5 in CA (or down) this is a good place to stop. Harris Ranch is just across the freeway for good takeout from the Harris Ranch Kitchen if you don't want standard fast food. The downside is that the area is permeated with the smell of stock yards, which is not a reflection on the hotel, but does tend to make the walk between buildings unpleasant.

If you want to spend more money than other options in the area, then this place will do. Nothing wrong with it, but more like an expensive Motel 6 than the usual Best Western. It is right off the highway, so easy on/off access from Interstate Five.

Great overnight stay… we wanted a quiet room and it was clean, quiet and the right price. Not that many great choices in the area so we booked the night before and only had 2 rooms left so best to book a few days ahead

Driving through once to So CA then back up No CA. On my way down, stayed at the Motel 6 because of the cost however wasn't impressed. On my way back stayed at the Best Western it was well worth the cost difference.

Beautiful room with everything we needed and more. Extremely clean and quiet. Decorated in calming colors. Modern but not 'stiff'. Good lighting and excellent use of space. Wish I could give it 10 stars!

This hotel was an amazingly redone and everything was so nice and welcoming. The room size is exceptional, and the quality of the entire stay was fantastic! I will definitely fmgo outta my way to stay here anytime I'm passing through central California.

I really didn't expect much, however, I was pleasantly surprised at this Best Western. The staff were excellent, polite, knowledgeable and helpful. The room was very clean, quiet and spacious. The refrigerator and microwave were very clean, so I was okay putting our food in them. The breakfast was good with a decent variety of foods. We both found something we wanted to eat. The grounds are very nice. Yes, we would stay there again.

The rooms are always very clean and neat. Freshly painted with updated colors. Nice little refrigerator, coffee maker and a microwave! Some rooms are pet friendly so we always enjoy bringing our dog with us when we stay there. They have a great hot breakfast set-up to enjoy, including scrambled eggs, sausage and Belgian waffles!

Haven't been able to stay at Harris Ranch offramp before. We thought they only had a continental breakfast, but they had a full hot breakfast. Recently remodeled, nice grounds. All 1 level- garden style rooms. Very large rooms, also. Friendly staff.

The breakfast room is now open. They have a huge selection and all the items are fresh. Staff continually replenishes items as they are used up. The breakfast room is large and the tables are spread out comfortably. Eat in or take breakfast back to your room.

We always stay at Harris Ranch on our way down to Palm Springs. However this year we could not get a pet room so we had to search for someplace else. We almost always stay at Best Western properties because of their pet policy so I called the Best Western Big Country Inn and couldn't have been more surprised. Nice location, clean modern rooms tastefully decorated. No tacky or worn decor. And you get a real breakfast. We will be back on our trip home.

I have stayed at this facility often. It has been fine; nothing fancy but in the right location for me. It has been in a perpetual state of remodel for a very long time, and although the rooms are fine, the exterior is nasty. This last stay, on a cold rainy night, I was given someone else's dirty room by accident. Took luggage back to the car and went back to the office. Room # 2 was fine. In the AM, I went to the office to get the frozen breakfast sandwich that they offer (even though the website says "full, hot breakfast"). Took it to the room to discover a broken microwave. Back to the office. No microwave there and no attempt to find a way to heat the darn sandwich. I threw it away and checked out. Do yourself a favor and cross the freeway and stay at Harris Ranch or take the short drive into town and stay at the other BW facility.

Perfect location easy access on and off the freeway. Food , Dennys restaurant next door and other fast food places close by along with several gas stations. Very Quiet area only 1 other motel close by. The staff very friendly

Probably the nicest Best Western I have stayed in thus far! This property was undergoing renovations during my stay but our room was literally brand new. Beautiful landscaping with more of a home feel that provided large grassy areas between rooms and road. Very friendly and helpful office staff, Covid safety cleaning standards which incorporated a thoughtful breakfast to keep everyone safe. Beds were very comfortable with a variety of pillows. All amenities in the room were working. I would definitely stay here again and recommend BW Big Country Inn to others.

Overall a good experience. Was a little concerned when we first pulled up as the hotel looked run down in the dark. Room was nice and updated but the cleanliness of the bathtub could have been better.

Clean interior, exterior a bit of a wreck and they gave us the wrong room. The staff was great. The pool is out of commission, and there is a spooky Breaking Bad looking trailer just across the street. Plus there are flies, to be fair, they warn you, but THERE ARE LOTS OF FLIES.

Trust me the rooms are worth it. I have stayed here more than (4) times and I'll keep coming back. Yes there's construction however the rooms are awesome! I've stayed alone and with a friend. We pick this BW over the other one in the area. Who books a room with a bath tub only? I get a shower only sure but bat tub only? It may be newer but somethings are just a necessity!

This Best Western is conveniently located near the Harris Restaurant and Resort for some of the best steaks and food around. It is conveniently located off Hwy 5 in the central valley and the turnoff is easy to navigate. Staff is helpful and professional. All rooms are on one level, so easy access. Grounds and building currently being upgraded and renovated: both outside and with some room remodeling. Will be taking 6-9 months according to the staff; in meantime, no significant noise or inconvenience. BW is close to the holding pens for cattle that are being processed next to the Harris Ranch, so certain smells can 'waff' toward the hotel.

Delightful gem on our way to Lake Tahoe for our family vacation. Drive right up to your room and your room is noted on parking spot which makes things very easy. Staff is fantastic and rooms are super clean, beds super comfy. Highly recommended!!

Don't judge this facility by the exterior remodel work in progress. Even with the construction appearance, the remodeled room was very well done and comfortable and everything worked as expected. The check-in and check-out staff were both professional and helpful. This was a half way stop back home to SoCal from the Bay Area and was a quiet and restful night. Recommend for a stop if traveling up and down Interstate 5.

The Big Country Inn is located right off the I-5 and just on the opposite side of the freeway from Harris Ranch. It was a great alternative to staying at Harris Ranch and I was still close enough to have dinner there. The rooms were comfortable and clean.

Stayed in Pet friendly room. The smell of deodorizer was so very strong that it was almost unbearable. Opened the windows to air it out and the smell of cow manure was just as strong. This place was being renovated on the outside. Hopefully the pet rooms will be renovated too and the carpet will be replace with something that can be mopped instead of saturated with deodorizer. I recommend the Best Western in Kettleman City just south of this place.

The rooms are located in a charming garden setting and there are zero obstacles for wheeled transport between the parking lot and the room. Inside, my room was amazingly spacious and the facilities for computer work/electronic recharging were exceptional. I was delighted to find this hotel and will definitely make it a regular stop when I travel to Northern California and back.

This hotel ticked all our boxes: clean, recently remodeled rooms, one-story building, exterior entrances, dog-friendly, and trailer parking. We wish we'd found it on our way south. If we ever have to go to southern California again, we will stay here on the way to/from.

The place was better than we expected. The exterior renovations are still underway, but the interior and rooms were already updated nicely. The layout of the place was refreshingly different than the usual inn or hotel. The staff was reasonably accommodating esp when our can broke down on the property and we had to bring in a mechanic in the morning before checkout time. We were stressed by our personal circumstances but was rested and satisfied with the place.

This hotel has been in the area for as long as I can remember. It has been remodeled recently and the rooms are most excellent. They are large, clean, with quiet air conditioners and heaters. They have large flatscreen televisions, large desks and comfortable chairs.

The room was spacious with plenty of room for two people to sit to watch TV or work at the desk. It wasn't fancy but it was comfortable. Bed was great. Pillows were okay. You can hear road noise but it is so far away it's kind of like white noise, not at all bothersome. The staff person who checked us in was NOT friendly or courteous.

Room looked newly renovated, and was large. Floors were wet, garbage cans weren't empty, and there were many flies in the room. At least the shower pressure was good, because the sink was not. The breakfast bag the next morning was nice.

The rate increased a bit but the amenities improved significantly. The room upgrades, high quality towels, sheets and bathroom toiletries, all contribute to a more unique travel experience. Extremely quiet, close to Harris Ranch for dinner, drinks and gifts. Ample parking, close to freeway, high recommend!

I have been staying at this facility for a number of years and have found the staff to be professional and courteous. The rooms have been upgraded during this time and I consider them to be more than adequate for the rate.

I cannot express more how satisfied we have been with BW in the past well we have only stayed at BW motels and each time has been above expectations....although our trip to the USA has been cut short due to vivid-19, we will be back and intend on staying at BW hotel's everywhere.

Since our first time staying here a few years ago, we always plan our trips on the I-5 corridor in order to be able to stay here. Over time, things have only gotten better-not too many businesses we can say that about. All the employees are very friendly & go out of their way to accommodate us. Location is perfect-right off Interstate; Harris Ranch Steakhouse is right down the road, (we always order food to go from this excellent restaurant & eat in the room), rooms are very clean and the property quaint. One of the Best of the Westerns!

We wanted to stay in th area while traveling, but Harris Ranch was a bit expensive. I looked at other reviews here and decided we'd try it. We even signed up to be loyal Best Western members!! The hotel has been recently redone (hence the hefty pet fee) but the rooms are wonderful, clean, modern and fun! Even a great painting in the BATHROOM! Water is hot, all was great. Pet rooms face freeway but with doors closed and heat or air on, you wouldn't notice. ONLY issue was the **** who stayed in our room prior- they put the adult PG 17 lock on the TV so only a few shows could be viewed. Not even the weather channel. Hotel didn't seem too concerned, finally offere us another room but by then we were settled in. Other than that, we'd stay again. And the mney saved over Harris Ranch's fees was enough to buy dinner over at Harris Ranch!!

The room was nice and you could tell that they were doing upgrades on the outside. I know that this motel has a breakfast but cannot review as they closed for Christmas and it was not available. The attendant explained that we could just leave our key in the room when we left and they sent an email with a copy of our statement. Which was easy for us.

Third time we have pulled off I-5 to this oasis. Room very clean and modernized. Easy parking and close to Denny's. Reasonable value. Breakfast was very good. They have a great area for walking the dog. Despite being close to I-5 it was very quiet.

Good central location along Hwy 5 traveling between Northern/Southern California. Comfortable rooms, very nice staff, full extensive breakfast. Many fast food restaurants available nearby as well as a Denny's

One of the nicest rooms ever stayed in for the value. Large room, quiet, clean, refrigerator, microwave, premium channels on TV and loved the light above the bathroom sink! Harris Ranch nearby for a wonderful dinner. We just happened to stop here on our way South and liked so much, stayed another night on our way back home. Great place to stop on your way down Highway 5. Would highly recommend!!

This hotel is one level. A very charming courtyard around the rooms. Very nice landscape. It looks like they just remodeled the rooms. Very clean. I love having 2 sinks in separate rooms. This allows for 2 people to get ready at the same time.

I would only stay at this Hotel in an emergency travel situation. It is near the I-5 so you get highway noise and hotel noise - doors slamming as it is an exterior door entrance and noise from neighbours talking loudly. The location of the hotel is near the feedlots at Harris Ranch so the smell outside is strong. Also, it is a dog friendly hotel but the hotel doesn't offer covers for the beds to keep the bedding clean and the exterior door opens to a large area of dirt. On rainy days, it can be messy. In the morning before we checked out, our dog was sniffing something on the floor, it turned out to be a small dehydrated piece of dog or cat poo and I threw it in the garbage. I had a concern that their internet service provider had been hacked and I told the night clerk. She appeared to know nothing about the topic and didn't want to. I travel alot and I used hotel internet for business and banking. I have never had a concern like this at a hotel and their staff need to know that customers should be reassured that it is safe for use. After I spoke to the clerk, I took all our devices off line until we left and were back on the highway.

Had been staying in the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn. Just happen to try the Best Western and found it to be as nice and comfortable as the others. The breakfast was great, even had waffles. I will go back to Best Western, their rates are affordable

Excellent facility to break up a long road trip.Easy access to eateries. Great to take a break from a long drive.Staff attentive and helpful. Rooms had fresh decor that was soothing and comfortable. Would recommend this as one of the best Best Westerns I have stayed at.

Nice modern decor at this Best Western in this small town . Room was clean and comfortable. Service was friendly. While this location is close to the highway, it was quiet at night. Nice find on a long road trip.

Room was VERY CLEAN and comfortable as usual (Best Western has a great reputation for this) as well as great furnishings. The location of this hotel is great for all travelers on the I-5 corridor with great nearby restaurants (Harris Ranch, etc.) and so forth. The best part of our stay was the fact that this property is frequently patrolled by the local Sheriff so there are virtually NO TREAKERS in the parking lot.

We've been staying at this Best Western for nearly 20 years! Great place to stop on our long trip from Northern to Southern California. All the rooms are newly renovated; they are spacious and well appointed. Single level so very quiet (no upstairs noise). Breakfast options are very good! Pet friendly, so that is how we came to choose this place initially and we've continued to stop here ever since!

Great place to stay! Newly remodeled rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. VERY comfortable bed! Would definitely stay here again. Living room area and couch were also very comfortable. Coffee for coffee maker could be of a higher quality. Maud's coffee was just adequate, not really good, but this was a small issue. Room was large and spacious as was the bathroom. Overall, good night's stopover off of the 5 near Harris Ranch, and much more reasonably priced. :-)

An interesting one story layout with all rooms facing a nicely landscaped courtyard. A very nice feature was a nice little table that was nested under the desk. You could pull that out and place it anywhere in the room and the remainder of your stuff did not have to sit on the floor! It was clean and modern with a comfortable bed. Plus Side Handy to Gas Stations ( Three different brands). A Dennys next door. 1/2 Mile to Harris Ranch (some of the best Beef yo will ever eat!). Minus Side When the wind blows from a certain direction you get to smell the Cows.

Bed was like sleeping on the floor. The smell outside hotel was so bad (from the cows down the road) per employee) that I almost threw up. Breakfast not good and food area not clean. Looks like OLD OLD hotel . I will NEVER stay there again. Sleeping in your car is a better option.

Beautiful, renovated room. Comfortable beds, pillows. Excellent WiFi. Microwave,refrigerator,directv,full breakfast, safe, all the luxuries. We make a point of staying here. An unlikely setting but the best hotel I've stayed in in a really long time. We love it!

This BW is a good place to stay at the Coalinga area. Pet-friendly hotel I think with a minimal extra fees. Has a dog yard in the back. Single-story hotels so no worries about people on 2nd floor because there's none. Quiet place, near the highway and walking distance from eateries like Denny's, BK and I think there's another one. Near gas station too. Good ambiance and good breakfast, starts 5 am - 9 am so its good. I think the only bad thing I can say in the hotel area is the air quality in the vicinity since its near a cow farm, so you know what I mean. But the hotel itself and its appearance, etc is good.

We used this as our half way stop between the north and the south state. I submitted all these photos of the newly remodeled , "pet friendly" room we had overnight. Even all the mattresses have been replaced. (saw a big stack of old ones out back!) The decor is all gray, silver, black, (with a splash of color) and with a modern, contemporary look...I guess the A.C./ heater units will be replaced next as the one we had was ancient. And we used it to filter the air, which it did quite well. The north wind was blowing like crazy and our door faced north. The cattle feed-lot smell outside was very powerful. But not inside. Good thing! This whole hotel is just one story and we really like that. No going up the stairs, or staying downstairs and hearing thump-thump half the night. The pet fee is kind of steep ($30) and you are forced to rent a room with 2 queens , so one night is $154.81 (with the AAA discount) The most expensive room on our whole 3 week trip...Somebody has to pay for all this remodeling.

For a truck stop locale this BW was the best bet. It may not look like much from the outside but they are redoing the rooms and they're AWESOME. I love this stay. I'd come back in a heart beat. Comfortable, reasonable, quiet, and it's just next to everything a traveler would need. Stay here you won't regret it.

I booked a king with microwave and frige and the room was very spacious. I meant to ask if I had gotten an upgrade as this king room also had a sofa in it and was quite spacious. The room was newly remodeled (I stayed here about 6 months ago) and it was really nice, clean, new and quiet. Great stop over mid-way for our travel from Northern California to Southern California. We enjoy the quaint look and feel of this place---it's not a 'high rise' with hallways of doors; it's single story and all doors open to a court-yard type setting. Pet friendly, complimentary Wall Street Journal, nice breakfast room with good selections (scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, yogurt, assorted breads, biscuits and gravey) and friendly staff. We will continue to stop-over here--one of our favorite places. A bit "pricey", and there is the "farm smell" as cattle ranching is done nearby (great steaks at the Harris Ranch restaurant nearby ).

The room was great! Clean and well designed. There was great check in service. However upon checkout, there was zero attendant at the lobby. A paper, handmade "no vacancy" sign was on one door and both doors were locked. My colleague and i called 10 times, which 4 of those calls the attendant answered and hung up. Finally, someone answered with a sleepy hello and before they had a chance to hang up, i blurted out "we need to check out of our hotel rooms" The attendant that no one is at the front desk tonight and that the hotel would have to just get our receipts emailed. Ironically, the attendant returned to the front desk after all that. This is unacceptable due to this trip being a military funded trip and we need receipts within a short time period for funding.

Hotel was great. Tried to check out really early in the morning, but nobody was there. I called numerous times, A guy finally answered the phone when I called from another number, after hanging up on me multiple times.

Older hotel that has had a little refurb but not enough to match the rate. The best thing about this place is the welcoming staff but they can't balance out the age of the rooms. The room has one of those awful low wall heaters that either boiled us or froze us all night and the hair dryer didn't work. Super low water pressure in the shower made this an overall unpleasant overnight stop. The breakfast had a million choices but the room it was in was too small and hospital-like. I expect more for over $100 a night.

It was nice to stay in this hotel. The only complain I have is that I forgot my nice digital camera and when my wife called a few days later, the receptionist told my wife that they did not find my camera. I am sure that I left my camera in our room but it is lost now. Make sure that you check your room for belongings before you leave because they won't return your forgotten items.

Consistent quality across the chain. Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Great amenities. Excellent WiFi and cable service. Perfect for an oder single woman p. Always feel safe and secure.Good laundry facilities. High quality breakfast

nice place...better than the other places we stayed at Coalinga...room was ok except for the spider we found.....Pest Control needed much more frequent....front room reservation clerk could have been more cordial.....pool was filthy (even though it was closed) but should be maintained no matter

On our way South to Palm Springs so was a perfect distance after a long day on the road. The hotel has been re modelled so very nicely done. Single level buildings with very large clean rooms. Bed great so had a good rest. Only 3-4 minutes from Harris Ranch restaurant just across over pass of I 5. Lots of gas stations in area around hotel. If so inclined many fast food places also very close. Easy access off and on I 5 . Only negative was breakfast eggs. Made little omelets that were like cardboard. Way over cooked. Rest fine.

The room was wonderful! Bed very comfortable, I did not want to get out it! Breakfast was very good with a nice variety. It is by Harris Ranch Restaurant if you want a good steak. We went to Coalinga for the Fraternal Order of Eagles fish fry that they have the 1st Friday of every month. Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice, I would stay here again in a heart beat. The staff is welcoming, room was spacious, the room and grounds were clean and they have a good variety of breakfast foods. We were traveling back from San Jose and really just wanted some place to sleep and shower. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this was and being that we had not planned this stay in advance.

Come to the front door late in the evening greeted very nicely has a room towards the front didn't like it too much got us a room in the middle it was great quiet no noises great breakfast hot coffee in the morning I even made a waffle the breakfast person was great and helpful all of the housekeeping were so helpful and clean clean rooms great beds and I wanted to take the mirror in the vanity home with me it was awesome great clean Hotel I would like to thank everyone at the big country Inn Best Western I will be staying there again it's my little Oasis in the middle of nowhere

I was traveling through towards San Francisco and searched for accommodations in middle California. Luckily I was near Coalinga and had a small variety of hotels. The BW Big Country Inn was my choice and I was beyond satisfied. From the evening receptionist, Amber, to the morning desk manager, Melissa, this was a first class operation. The room was large, very clean, and priced very reasonably. I had a minor glitch with the remote control batteries and it was taken care of within 5 minutes. Upon checking out of the inn, I was given a discount on my bill for the inconvenience of the remotes' operation. Really!!!? The professionalism of the whole operation is first class and I highly recommend the stop here for a respite from your travels.

i checked in and slept around the clock from driving woke up to free l breakfast not bad, then laid down and went into a nice clean pool i was very relaxed and glad i had stayed here, i forgot about the nice breakfast when i ordered the room months ago

This was a great resting place for our trip to Southern California. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was good and included in the price. The staff was friendly and very efficient.

We had been looking for a last minute hotel for awhile. We thought we could make it all the way home but no... We stopped here hoping they had a decent room available. We were a little leery, as we had a bad experience with a Best Western a few months ago but this one changed our minds back to staying at Best Westerns. We arrived at midnight and the man at the desk was marvelous. Gave us a room and discounted it due to our check in time. ?? Great amenities, great breakfast, very clean, comfy pillows and beds! It smells outside in the morning but you cannot smell it at all in your room and frankly, there are much worse smells. It's just a regular farm animal smell. Would definitely stay here again.

Our party had 2 rooms here while in town for a wedding. The hotel consists of a lot of little buildings spread out over the property. Our rooms were at the very back of the property which was totally fine until we discovered we had no hot water. After a call to the front desk they offered for us to use a room up front to shower(nice offer but who wants to walk 8 people with all their stuff one by one to shower in a different building?) shortly after that maintenance came and fixed the issue. Another issue was that our key cards kept getting deactivated and we had to walk all the way up to the front each time to get them reactivated. They told us not to keep the keys anywhere near our phones or credit cards which is really tough to do when you want to keep them in your purse. On a more positive, note the staff was friendly, the pool was nice, and the grounds had a lot of potential to be real cute. They even gave us a discount off our stay for all our issues. Our entire stay we saw workers updating rooms, painting, and it looked like they were getting new furniture too. Things probably will be much different if you give it a few months!

Very clean and spacious rooms, well maintained garden and communal areas , pool could have been a little cleaner but overall very impressed with this as a stopover hotel, good choice of food within close vicinity. Would recommend.

Ill make a brief list here. Water was ice cold, took six hours to fix. Reservation was wrong and had to fix it on the spot which took quite some time. Ordered fold up extra bed because the website said

Big Country Inn was a nice place to stop for the night after a long day of driving. A comfortable bed, quiet room, wifi, and a delicious breakfast with eggs, bacon and waffles was exactly what we needed before getting back on the road the next morning.

Nice stop, has pool (Unheated) no gym or hot tub. Breakfast is good. lots of restaurants nearby. halfway from LA to SF Rooms are quiet but furnished in the 90's I would stay there again. There is not much to do in the neighborhood but I never felt unsafe.

I am a member of best westerns AAA program since one year and had stayed in one of their hotels yesterday. Today we had to stop at big country inn as my son had to use the restroom. In spite of informing the receptionist that my 6 year old needs to use the restroom and I am a member of BW from one year, we we asked to go to some other place. Staff here needs to be more courteous and BW needs to ensure their customers are treated nicely irrespective of the hotels they stay in.

A clean, comfortable place to take a break while traveling between northern and southern California. I made my reservation via the BW website that offered online specials. Dennys is conveniently right next to the hotel. If you feel like spending more, Harris Ranch is just across Hwy.5. Also includes good breakfast to get me going for the next leg of my travel.

The staff was great and very accomidating. We were able to drive up and book a room for the same night without any problem. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and up to date. Parking was abundant with security cameras. We stop here often on our trips from Sacramento to Oceanside, never had an issue.

I was tired, the staff were friendly, the room acceptable, and breakfast started at 5am. I was grateful for all. It was quiet and I was able to park right outside my room. I arrived after dark and left before the sun came up, but the grounds looked groomed from what I could see. Reminded me of an 80's style village complex.

A very comfortable alternative to fighting to stay awake driving late. The room was quiet, breakfast was very good, and we left very refreshed. The breakfast staf especially was very friendly and efficient.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. I wish parking areas in back were better lighted, both for convenience of unpacking at night and for security. No issues during our stay, just some feedback for improvement.

I stayed here on three different dates in 2017. Each time was consistent, an overall very nice stay. Quiet, clean, convenient, good price. Only complaint is for me, the bed was a little to firm. But I will stay here again.

Dirty, outdated room and small dirty bathroom with the bathtub pulled away from its caulking. No small bottles of shampoo, etc., but large bottles hanging from the shower wall. Could not get much product out and gave up. Very expensive for a poor room and experience.

Very clean and comfortable hotel! Staff members were excellent and friendly! Conveniently located and many choices close by for meals! Very comfortable bed! Breakfast room had great choices and very neat and clean! You can tell everyone takes pride in their jobs at this hotel!

There was a problem with the date of my reservation, which could have been entirely my own fault, but the staff was very helpful and even offered me an additional discount. The room itself needs a little updating but was very nice overall, the bed extremely comfortable, the best I have found in any BW yet. The only negative experience was breakfast, which is served until 9 AM but was out of hot items like eggs, bacon, etc by 8:30. I still give this an "excellent" rating because of the staff and overall appearance. The rooms are arranged in a "cottage" style, very cute and inviting from the outside. I could see myself spending several days there.

Very nice rooms great bed, has couch table 2 chairs. Shower has it all with dispenser for shampoo, body wash, and hair conditioner. Coffee pods and tea pod. Breakfast has it all omelets, sausage, waffles with all the trimming even 2 fruit toppings to choose from oh and pumpkin syrup! Nice fruit even Asian pears! Yes we will be back when on Highway 5.

This motel was right off the I-5 freeway. The room was spacious, clean, had a desk, had a table with two chairs, large frig, microwave. The queen bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and was complete... Hot eggs, sausage, waffle maker, plus cereals, sweets, toast, juice... We'd come here again. Good value.

I'm always pleased with this property; clean, quiet, friendly with Wi-Fi and breakfast. It's somewhat expensive, but pretty in line with other places in the area of this quality. Convenient place 1/2 way from my home in Northern Calif and my destination in Southern Calif. Places to eat nearby and gas station/mini mart nearby.

You can't really help the smell and flies from Harris Ranch....but if the wind is in your favor, it a fine hotel. Lots of fast food with one Dennys. They are building and AM/Pm right now. Subway and Baja Fresh

Happy to find a place to rest our heads after a long day of driving. Bed was cofortable and clean. Bath appeared clean though toilet ran off and on all night Shower was fairly good pressure but very sensitive temp controls.. Nice fridge/miccrowave. Found bottlecaps and gum wrappers under couch cushions and carpet was questionable. Main complaint was the VERY STRONG carwash type perfumey smell. So strong we aired our room out with door and windows open for over an hour without much result. Do not know if someone had smoked in there...would have much preferred stale smoke or man sweat to the overpowering perfumed air.

Arrived after a long day driving to find a welcoming staff person behind the desk. Had room ready and waiting. Room was a little warm so I turned on AC and it screeched regardless of any settings change. Went to the desk and the super friendly young woman apologized and gave me another room. it was fine but AC was a loud hummer and slept with it off. Both rooms were clean but tired.

The rooms at this property are always very clean and comfortable. Check-in staff are very pleasant and quick to check-in and out. important when most travelers have been driving for hours and just want to crash and relax. Very good value.

This place is midway between Northern and Southern California, so it is a convenient place to stay when we are driving up and down highway 5. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and the rooms are always clean. Recently, they have upgraded the interior of the rooms. Breakfast is served on real plates, not paper!

The hotel is convenient to I-5 and clean. Staff is friendly. I stay here when in the area for business. it is also convenient to restaurants (Denny's & Harris Ranch) and gas. Downtown Coalinga is about 15 minutes away.

This hotel is much nicer than one would expect considering that it's immediately off Interstate 5 in pretty much the middle of nowhere. Room was clean and very quiet. Above-average compared to other Best Westerns I've stayed in.

these rooms are still pricy at 99 a night for business people. I will be there 4 nights a week for the next 4 months and for a long stay it is better to rent an apartment. however this is in the middle of no where so there are no towns in 20 miles, and is 30 miles to my worksite. no apartments, no stores no decent places to eat except hamburger joints. local denny's dinner menu down to 6 items.

room smell very expensive for area.. and room not clean room faced and area that smelled horrible when you went outside. staff quoted me 3 different prices when I went to check in. no sugar cream in room with coffee maker

This is run of the mill Best Western Hotel. The price is good. If you have to stop in Coalinga this is good choice. We were there on a hot July day; the ranch smells were expected but nevertheless not enjoyable.

Okay, finally I'm going to write a decent review for a Best Western (BW) Inn ... it's clean and well maintained, pretty quiet given its design/layout and because of its close proximity to the interstate. The rooms are a nice size, room enough for the bed, table, a desk, dresser and a couch. There is a decent size mini-frig and microwave. The bed mattress is firmer than I like, but my experience with BW is that is always the case. Okay, I lied a little ... there is one notable sour note, and that's the odor in the air ... can you say agriculture? It's an issue when going outside - like to the pool - or walking to get something to eat. Which brings me to the last item, which has nothing to do with Best Western ... but the surrounding restaurants have gone out of business, the Denny's next door is awful which leave you with only fast food or taking a drive to the town of Coalinga for a sit down meal.

I love that the rooms are like little "patio homes" - step outside your door to flowering bushes and palm trees. Room itself, the cleanest and most perfectly supplied, I have ever stayed in (no exaggeration). Property was very quiet, the office is attractive, the staff is attentive. Other guests I encountered all seemed in a good mood, which tells a lot too I think. Can't wait to return, hoping for January... almost just for the hotel - !

I have stayed at this property very often over the past 10 years and I have never had a bad experience. The staff are always extremely welcoming, polite, helpful and very professional. This property is located approximately mid-way between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and it is a great stopping off point for those of us who don't desire to make the San Francisco to LA drive in one day. Provides several dining options, fuel services, and is an easy on/off for Interstate 5.

Nice, well kept grounds, even in 108 degree heat. Room was very clean. I think the price was a little high, but overall it was a good place to catch up on much needed sleep. Breakfast was pretty good too. It ended at 9 am, could've been been available for one more hour.

We were relocating from southern California to Oregon when our moving truck became disabled on Interstate-5 in temps exceeding 105 degrees. This was the closest hotel to our location, and they accommodated our dog, so we decided to stay. My Wife and kids enjoyed the pool, which was clean, and well maintained while I supervised the unloading of one truck into another. Breakfast was good as these types of breakfasts go. Because of the situation they allowed us a late check out. The room was clean, and we used the guest laundry, but it might be time to buy some new machines. Overall it was a good experience.

We stayed here overnight as a layover between East Bay and Las Vegas since we expect heavy traffic leaving at 5 PM on Friday, June 30. Hotel has only 1 level which is a plus for us traveling with two elderly parents in their 90s. With 2 Queen bed inside the room, we still have a huge space available to walk around. Room is clean, separate sink from the shower which is another plus. Room comes with fridge and microwave, strong enough hair drier and clean fluffy towels. We won't hesitate returning to this hotel next time we need a room in the area, next to gasoline station with few restaurants nearby like Denny's. The only negative experience here was when we were having breakfast. The breakfast area does not provide drinking water, only hot water is available. When I asked for a glass of water to the staff filling-up scrambled eggs, she said she needs to finish what she is doing first - good thing my 90 year old mom was not choking in her food. Other hotels provide a jar of iced water with the buffet where you can fill half of your cup and another half can be hot water to get a tap/room temperature drinking water. After a few minutes, we couldn't wait for the water so we just went back to our room. We checked-in at 10 PM and checked-out at 8 AM. This Best Western Coalinga is a much better hotel than the more expensive Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Bakersfield we stayed at on our way back.

I enjoyed my stay here, and if traveling near by I will stay again at this hotel. I highly recommend. Guest services made me feel welcome. The breakfast was great! Comfort plus in my room. Got a good night rest.

Perfect location for traveling I-5 corridor and approximate to Harris Ranch, CA. Friendly night clerk provided a warm welcome for weary travelers. Attractive grounds for ambulating. Easy access from highway.

I know I will never stay here again. The cockroaches did it for me. They overtook the dirty room. And they forgot to clean my room one night, had to request them to come back at 4pm to service the room

Great place, always quiet because there are no upstairs rooms. Not a lot of rooms but they are always clean and problem free. I always stay here if I can get a room, Denny's next door and fast food nearby. The grounds are well maintained and groomed for being in the middle of nowhere (think hot & dry).

This place is a great place to stay rooms are awesome and very clean. It made me feel like I was staying in a five star hotel. It was nice to go swim after a hot day of work in the great pool. The beds are very comfortable. I can't wait to get back there and start the week off.

An otherwise o.k. stay was marred by the presence of roaches in the room. The odor of insecticide was evident upon entering the room and the presence of a live roach in our bed was an immense turnoff. When I mentioned this to the desk clerk the next morning, she did not respond until I asked if she had heard me. I also noticed that the property had sprayed for them around the pool the next morning. There were several of the little buggers in their death throes! Simply put, a room should not be rented until housekeeping is sure that a vermin problem is eliminated. Ask me how I know? I taught hotel operations including housekeeping for almost 30 years and wrote a housekeeping textbook that is in its 5th edition.

I was having difficulties with Best Western Corperate and Best Western Hanford, Calif and Cinthia Pulido at this hotel was most gracious and helpful. She assisted me and actually went up and beyond to be helpful. The hotel was clean and restful and served a good breakfast.

This BW in an oasis of services (food, gas, lodging) stands out as modern, comfortable, and convenient to I-5 (about 1/2 way between LA and San Francisco) What distinguishes this hotel are the solar panels (!) on the paneled slooping roofs, the rose bushes, and the hot buffet breakfast at 5 a.m.or a "grab 'n go" bag of food. Although the pool is small, two of us enjoyed cooling off from almost record high valley temperatures. In contrast the rooms are large and have full refrigerators, a microwave, desk, couch and table -- or at least #102 in bldg. A did.

Harris Ranch is nicer but way more expensive. If you just want a clean, quiet and comfortable room stay here. Dinner is the issue. Once again Harris Ranch is nice but expensive. Avoid Denny's. Their service is slow. The food is actually pretty good, so consider take out and eating in your room. Baja Fresh is your best bet. Take out and eat in your room. The Best Western Breakfast is excellent. Internet is fast. Stick the kids in the pool. Lots of parking for any size vehicle even those towing trailers. This hotel could save a lot of water by switching to low flow shower heads and maybe use the water saved to water their dead rear lawn. They accept dogs for an extra $20.

This motel has been very nicely upgraded. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. For the price it is much better than the high priced motel across the freeway. We enjoyed our stay.

We stopped here twice, on our way to and then back from the Sacramento area. All we needed was a comfortable and quiet place to crash after hours of driving, and this hotel delivered. It is right off the 5, yet set far enough back not to have any issues with noise. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy. It had a mini fridge, which was very nice and quiet as well. Dinner options were Denny's and Subway - both in walking distance. There's also a gas station for all your snack attacks. The breakfast was awesome, a really big selection. I loved how they served it on real ceramic dishes, rather than on paper stuff. Couple of things that could have been better: the breakfast starts very early and is done by 8:30. That's pretty early, we barely made it. It also means that other travelers will be up early and roaming by your window. Also, the pool was dirty and closed when we came, and there did not seem any hurry to get it fixed. It was still closed on our return trip four days later. Our kids were very disappointed - promise of the pool was what kept them going for the last hour of the endless drive. We will drive back up the grapevine later this summer and plan to stay here again. Hopefully this time with pool!

These rooms are neat, private walk ways. It's pretty area. Excellent staff, soft towels high water pressure. Lots of parking. Quiet area. Secured lot. Lit up. Hot tub and pool. Breakfast was nice. Separate room

Needed to stop when travelling between SF and LA, this place is about half way and was good overall. Only real restaurant at this I5 exit was a Dennys next door, but there are also a variety of fast food places within easy walking distance at the various gas stations such as Subway, McDonald's etc. Didn't try the pool. Internet was reasonable.

This is a great place to stay. The room was comfortable and the breakfast is over the top. I expected a minimal continental breakfast and got a feast, fresh food and protein. Also nearby was a competing motel that was not as helpful for someone with disabilities. This place has rooms on one level, a swimming pool, and a great attitude by its staff.

We were looking for a place to stop for the night and get some rest after a long day of driving. This fit the bill exactly without being crazy expensive like the one across the freeway. Plenty of restaurants to pick from, and a good breakfast included.

If you are traveling between Southern California and the Bay Area a great place to stay is Best Western in Coalinga. They have 2 dog friendly rooms. Be sure to book early if you need a dog friendly room. The breakfast is the bomb. Best continental breakfast I've ever had. They had a cinnamon shaker! Waffle maker with many toppings to choose from. Strawberry and blueberry compote, maple and flavored syrups.Be sure to tip the lady helping out in the breakfast. She was superb. The coffee is yummy. You can add hot chocolate and make a mocha. Noon is a generous checkout time. We stay there every time we travel on HWY 5.

As we were going to travel to Cambria, CA for a week with our friends, they asked me to reserve a couple of rooms here at this Best Western to stay on our way down. I was hesitant, as the Best Western's in our State are middle of the road at best. But we were very surprised upon arrival that this hotel was attractive, clean and comfortable. We had a great night and will stay here anytime. We even had a bonus at breakfast. My wife and I learned Sign Language about 7 years back to volunteer to help teach the deaf, and at breakfast we met a very sweet deaf man from Pasadena and had a great conversation. The next time passing through this area, we will for sure plan on staying here!

We stayed here because we had the GW rewards card. As always not the least expensive in town but usually one of the better. Check in was average. Just the standard line. Room was large and well appointed. However while putting clothes away we found a pair of pajamas and a Wall Street Journal from two days ago. Kind of "maid" us wonder about other areas of the room that may have been overlooked. We did have a good nights sleep. The hotel is far enough away from the freeway so no traffic noise. Might not stop at this turnoff in the future anyway. To many fast food spots and not enough other dining locations to chose from.

We're an older couple with fairly simple tastes. We generally stop in Coalinga as a half-way point when going north-south. This time, we decided to splurge the few extra dollars to try out the medium-priced Big Country Inn. We've stayed at both the low price point and the high price point in the past. While there was nothing spectacular about this hotel, and while it is still located in the middle of the Coalinga truck stop, there also was absolutely nothing the matter with this hotel either. It was clean, had a very comfortable mattress, excellent wi-fi, eco-products, a fairly quiet air-conditioner, well-working plumbing, and decent coffee in the room machine. They even started breakfast at 5am, which is great for those who like to get on the road first thing, and not so great for those of us who are late risers. We will probably stay here again in the future.

1/2 mile from Harris Ranch resort. The hotel is very nice and clean. The price was a bit higher than I like, but it was a great value compared to the price of staying at Harris a Ranch. There are fast food restraints and quick marts next door.

This hotel is comfortable and clean and moderately priced in the middle of the central valley. A good quick place to rest with heavy truck traffic. I would recommend it for the price value. They serve breakfast from 5 to 9 am and it is included.

Nice Best Western for a stop on the way from SF to Palm Springs. Clean, well kept rooms. Has a disabled room because all others were booked out. Seemed to be well thought out and very accessible. Grounds nicely cared for.

great hotel for the money. Was traveling to visit my granddaughter and stayed in this hotel on the way there and again on the way back home. The grounds were very well kept and the breakfast was better that expected with real dishes and mugs for my coffee. Most free breakfasts use paper products. the room was clean and quiet. I stayed at another BW in Corning CA and they could learn from the Coalinga one.

Acceptable for a small town. Was pleasantly surprised at the overall condition of the motel. The staff other then the front office was pleasant at all times. Small town did not allow a lot of choices of facilities. I appreciate the choice I made.

This place is a step back in time; a single story hotel with quaint walkways and nicely maintained grounds. All of the parking is off to the side of the buildings so no cars are parked in front of the rooms which makes it nice and quiet. The rooms are good sized and very comfortable. The only complaint I had was no hi-def TV which really is just a personal preference. The hotel is also located less than a mile from one of the finest steak house restaurants we have ever found (Harris Ranch....which is actually the main reason we stay in Coalinga when traveling). I highly recommend both!!

This was a last minute decision to stop for the night. The girl at the front desk was very nice and had us checked in in less than 5 minutes. The room was very large and comfortable. It was very quiet even though the rooms on both sides were occupied. The breakfast room was nice with a good choice of food. Hot eggs, potatoes, bacon, waffles, etc

Stay here if you like mosquitos. We were up most of the night swatting mosquitos. Should have seen a problem when there is a written sign in the front lobby, “” ATTENTION GUEST: DUE TO OUR LOCATION, YOU MAY ENCOUNTER BUGS IN YOUR ROOM. WE RECOMMEND YOU KEEP DOOR CLOSED.”” The room had not be cleaned, when we checked in, after 3PM. The housekeeping person left the door open while servicing the room.

My wife and I have stayed here twice during trips from the San Francisco Bay area to Los Angeles. The staff is very nice, and the breakfast has regular offerings of fruits, juice, cereal, waffles, some hot offerings that change day to day, and some other things. The breakfast does end earlier than at other hotels I've stayed at, I think at 9 AM.

this is a best western in the middle of the country that was a real treat! first of all the staff was great. they got us checked into the hotel in no time and we were in the pool which is a little small but perfect for our small family. our room was super clean and super clean linen and then we had a Dennys right next door. Our breakfast was a great selection of fresh fruit and hot food as well as the basic. and hot coffee and teas too.

Should of seen a problem when there is a hand written sign on the front door of the lobby, "No Vacancy!!!", when the parking lot is empty. First room we were assigned hadn't been cleaned and there was trash all over the facility. The room we were moved to was cleaned, but not really up to the standards I would expect. I'm guessing their cleaning staff didn't show up and they were doing the best they could, but it really isn't worth the price, save our money and try the Travel Lodge or Motel 6 for less than half the price.

Nice room, easy chair, quiet, spacious, comfortable for my bad back. Free breakfast Harris restaurant nearby has great steak. A little pricey, but the food was good and service excellent. To touristy to stay there though.

The room was clean and accommodations were good. Not a lot of choices in the area, but we were attending a wedding at Harris Ranch which was just a few minutes away. The registration girls were very friendly and helpful.

After a long day of driving this hotel is just off the I5 and is the perfect overnight stop. The room was very clean - and Cynthia at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. One of the nicest people we have come across at a hotel check in.

What a nice place to take a break from. Close to restaurants. All the amenities. Staff were friendly and the room was great. Really enjoyed our overnight here! Not a lot more to say. Ther was a room that we needed. It was quiet and out of the way, yet close to the freeway.

We stopped here for one night driving from LA to SF. The room is fine for one night or a short stay. The property is clean and there is a great complimentary breakfast. The room did smell like the surrounding cattle farms but nothing that can be done about that. The other thing is that someone was smoking outside of our room and it smelled like it was in our room. The windows or door were clearly not sealed well. Overall we would stay here again if necessary for the price.

Good value, great location for Coalinga and will stay again. Don't let the smell from the Cow pens down the road discourage you. One minute it's overwhelming, then the next minute the smell is gone with the wind shift. The Hotel across I-5 which is 3 times more expensive has the same smell.

Travelling on I-5 late at night and stopped here. Got the last room since it was late at night. We didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised to find a very clean, quiet and restful accommodation. Included breakfast was good and the server was super nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this inn on our way to Menlo Park CA. The room was clean and well supplied. Entrance to rooms is from outside with a feel of a garden area. This is an older hotel, but rooms have been updated.The person at the desk was very courteous when we checked in and helped us with information on Harris Ranch restaurants. Breakfast was substantial with many choices. Was impressed with the use of "real"plates and silverware!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good. I am a woman that was traveling alone and did not feel comfortable staying here alone. The curtains did not close and it was not private. I felt like everyone could see in the windows.

This hotel is clean and convenient to I5, about halfway between the Los Angeles area and the Bay Area. The rooms are adequate and clean, the staff is polite and friendly. The breakfast is fine to get your day started (with one of those do-it-yourself waffle makers if you want something "more"). It isn't in a destination location, but for a business person on the road it's a good choice..

Planned a spa day with Mom in Long Beach. Big Country was along the I5 and the shot I had a getting close enough to get into Long Beach in time without having to drive the whole 6 hrs from Richmond. Coalinga was the best fit for a half way stop. I could not leave the Bay Area until 9PM so when I got to Big Country Inn I was ready to crash. Thank you for being there, being comfortable. Maybe I'll stay longer next time.

My family of 3 stayed here overnight on our way to Disneyland. Aside from the strong cow smell, it worked for us. We had the pool to ourselves and there was a Dennys right next door. Breakfast area was small and "encouraged guest to stay in the area". They have real plates and coffee mugs which is why they want you to stay in the room. I did see disposable tableware if there is no space to sit and eat. All in all, a decent stay for the night and appeared to be better than the hotel next door.

Uncomfortable beds I couldn't sleep at all, I should of gotten the 2 hours I got in the car. There are better hotels just keep driving...I say at really nice hotels for a better price the rest of the trip and continuie as long as I avoid this chain

We were tired, too tired to drive on. So resigned to the stench of the stockyards across the Interstate, we checked into this oasis. Clean, comfortable rooms and a full delicious complementary breakfast in the morning.

We planned a long road trip and made the reservations on line which sometimes can be very interesting. This place was great. The beds were very comfortable, friendly staff, clean rooms and awesome hot breakfast items. The rates were extremely reasonable and we were so pleased that we stayed here a second time on our long trip home.

We had to find a hotel while on our way to Reno from the Pacific Coast and ended up in this little area. The hotel was reminiscent of motels we stayed in in the 50's as we traveled with our parents. The room was adequate and clean. Convenient to I-5.

My stay here at the Best Western Hotel was the best. I was very pleased with the outstanding customer service I received for any questions I had during my stay. The variety on the breakfast bar was very delicious. The quality was excellent. As for my room, I slept like a King. The bed was comfortable, room was clean clean clean. I would definitely consider staying at a Best Western hotel again in my future travel in hopes that I get the same awesome service I received at this particular hotel. A++

My stay was very pleasant, friendly customer service received and most importantly a clean stay. The bed was comfortable, towels were fresh. The reception of the channels on the television were of good viewing. My wake up call was precise. I absolutely enjoyed my stay here and I will definitely return should I be in this area again.

This hotel is very close to I-5 but it was quiet and sort of tucked away. THe layout reminded me more of an apartment complex than a hotel. All first floor, easy access rooms. Walking distance to Denny's and just across the freeway from an amazing steak house. The free breakfast was above average, with real china and a friendly attendant. Lots of construction guys staying there, but no problems with the neighbors. I would definitely stay there again.

Easy access off of Highway 5. Close to Harris Ranch; but, there's a Denny's within walking distance. There is a varied breakfast menu (buffet) with "real" plates and cups provided. The staff is very nice and helpful. We have stayed here numerous times on our way to Indian Wells.

I have been traveling from northern California to Kingman az. This about halfway. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The free breakfast is very good. Make your own waffles. Fresh fruit. Good coffee and a person there to help if you need it. They also have a TOGO snack when you check out.

I stayed for four nights with my dogs at this Best Western for a stock-dog trial in Coalinga--I'm happy to report that this motel has retained its quality (in fact, seems to have upgraded a bit) since I last stayed here six years ago for a similar event. The pet rooms are on the back side of the property, adjacent to a grassy area and a huge gravel parking area, ideal for dog-walking. The room was very clean, no offensive smell, plenty of towels, hot water, good mattresses and pillows. I didn't use the breakfast service much, but what I did use of it, it was the standard fare of waffles, eggs, fruit, toast, cereals, coffee and was very good. ALL people I encountered here were pleasant, greeted me well and did whatever was needed to keep me happy (some extra hand towels and daily room cleaning)--front desk personnel, housekeeping staff, grounds-keepers, all were very nice. I slept very well, it was quiet and I would absolutely stay here again. Solar panels were being installed while I was staying here and aside from workers coming and going doing the installation on the roof of the buildings, there was no noticeable or unnecessary noise during the daytime. Nights were very quiet. Yes, if the wind changes, you're going to smell the feed lot at Harris Ranch, but it's a rural area. Once indoors, with air conditioning going, the odor is not noticeable (and I have a VERY keen sense of smell).

Have stayed before & liked it. Perfect location from starting point to drivable distance for a day. Also it is very near a fantastic restaurant that we like very much. It's on a cattle ranch but we're willing to put up with the smell for the great food and pleasant accommodation's.

Clean and heat the pool and you have a great place to stay. The room was well appointed and clean. We will stay here again, but really, do something about the pool. I have to keep typing or they will not post this review which is pretty stupid as this is really all I have to say.

When we made the reservation in Coalinga we didn't realize how far the smell of Harris Ranch would travel. Anytime we were outside the smell was overwhelming. The room was comfortable and clean. We used the laundry and it was clean. Our dog was welcome with a $20 fee.

My family had been traveling in a car for over 10 hours and needed to stop for the night. there was 3 hotels to choice from and we choose this one. What a mistake, it was dirty, there were flying knats in our room, the door didn't seal properly, I never received my receipt, the Hot free breakfast was mediocre, there was cream cheese and no bagels, it was like the staff didn't want to keep it stocked up for the guests. Also, the outdoor pool was closed on weekdays which being 90 degrees out would have been nice for my family to dip into and relax.

After a long 6 hours on the road we needed a good nights sleep, in order to make the next 5 hours of our trip. We stopped in at the Best western in Colinga CA. And we got lucky with the last room that they had. The room was spacious and clean and they had the best complimentary breakfast and the staff was so friendly. I would highly recommend staying there.

looks good from outside but room was old and in need of better care ! room smelled terrible from old carpeting I think and what ever they used to clean it with left a bad smell in room ! in need of tearing down and rebuilding ! bed was bad rolled to center all night ! air conditioner made so much noise it was hard to sleep ! Also there is a big cattle ranch there so you had to hold your nose when we went out to get dinner ! they had a pool but it isn't heated ! also we heard there is a prison close by the area and it just wasn't a very nice area !

The accommodations were fine - nice area for walking our dog. The receptionist was very unfriendly - no greeting just shoved the questionnaire re car license etc in front of us. No smile, no welcome - nothing. Put us off this location.

Older property but well kept. Modern amenities we didn't expect like the curved shower curtain and soap /lotion dispensers. Fresh new linens. Friendly staff. Only drawbacks - doors open to outside (not to a hallway, mattress VERY soft and breakfast area too small for the number of guests trying to use it.

Great hotel with friendly helpful staff. We left behind a medicine bag with a wallet inside and housekeeping took it directly to the office where Melissa helped me out. She boxed it up, printed out shipping label and had it all safe and ready for Fed Ex. Hotel was very nice and comfortable. Thank you again!

This hotel offers a very nice dog friendly room with easy access to the lawn area. It is clean, quiet and beautifully landscaped. There is an eccellent restaurant nearby. This is a great place to stop along I-5.

We really enjoyed our room. Very clean, large and we'll appointed. Good breakfast. Loved the courtyard and palm trees. The bed was very comfortable and so was the couch. We had dinner in our room at the dining table. There was also a desk, TV, frig and microwave. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Clean well appointed room..microwave AND refig. comfortable bed. Adjacent to gas stations, Berger King and Denneys. Thought the price was a little high $112..but i was tired of driving down Highway 5, where motels are few and far between. Only thing that bothered me was only curtain over the front window was a little "lightweight" I felt that could see through it from outside if inside lights were on. However, i could see only shadows inside as I walked down outside path. Maybe just aware of this because I was alone.

Just an average Inn. No better than the Motel 6 next door at twice the price. Plastic showers with the soap hanging from the wall don't make sense at $100 a night. Nice location if you like gas stations and fast food. Next time I spend a little more and stay at Harris Ranch.

Spacious room with comfortable king bed, chair and ottoman, and desk. Clean and well-maintained. Motel comprises several one story buildings with nice landscaped walkways between them. Breakfast was good, but the breakfast room was small and crowded.

It was a clean comfortable room with a great hot breakfast the next morning. I was a big fan of the waffles. I like the bungalow style of the room layout and they had ample parking in back for our pickup and trailer.

The check-in girl was short with me and never got off of her phone call to help check me in. It just seemed very unprofessional. The room was absolutely filthy and the carpet turned all of our socks black.

Driving down boring I-5 for hours on end? Not a bad stop. Clean large rooms with easy one level access. The breakfast was a full breakfast, not just rolls and coffee. And if you want a nice dinner...you are just right across the highway from Harris Ranch. We left our iPad behind by accident. The staff called us to let us know they found it before we even knew it was missing. Gotta love honesty! Though they offered to send it to us, we picked it up on our way back. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again. Our only complaint? The cattle smell from Harris Ranch is hard to avoid.

Oh my word. The smell. How is it the last 10 reviews on trip advisor (which I hurriedly scanned while we were on the highway) did not mention the cow country smell? Maybe because it's taken as a given. But friends, this is not trivial passing whiff. We ran from our car to our room. And even so, throughout the night, we lay there wondering- did someone just fart? It's not just us city folk who notice it. We spoke to some of their workers and they said, yup, this is normal. Nay, it was even considered a good day. Wait till the wind blows they said... I can't really blame them for the smell. I mean, what can you do eh. But travelers, be warned. Otherwise, room was basic and met our needs for a night. There was only a bar of soap and no shampoo but I'd like to think if I asked front desk for it, they would have brought some. They kindly offered us a late rate, which was slightly lower than the online rate since we arrived past 10pm. Breakfast room is very small but decently stocked. Waffle iron, scrambled eggs, ham, tortillas, hard boiled eggs, selection of fresh fruit (apples/bananas/oranges), 2 types of yogurt, 3 types of cereal and muffins and assorted breads. Breakfast lady was very pleasant and came out frequently to clear the tables. Note, breakfast is 5-9am Mon-Fri and till 10am on weekends. This early start is to cater to the bulk of their clientele, which apparently consists of workers/truckers passing through.

This was a very convenient place to stop while driving between SF and LA. Normally, we'd just drive the entire distance in one go, but since we had a very late start, we decided to stop midway rather than drive all night, and we're glad that we did. The room was very clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. The only real downside is that the bathroom sink had an extremely low flow restrictor which caused the water to just trickle out. We got a very good night's sleep and there were plenty of breakfast options nearby.

This property is fine for a one night passing through town stop which is what I did. It's a step up from a motel 6 but it is somewhat dated and the bathroom in our room had obviously had some poor quality repair work done and was a bit dirty. Would I stay here again only if I was passing through town and it was time to stop for one night.

We have stayed at the Big Country Inn before and always return on our drives down I-5 because it is convenient, clean, with easy access to the rooms near the parking area. And the breakfast is excellent.

The rooms were very clean and had a lovely smell! Staff was also good. I would stay again if we were driving from L.A. to Napa Valley, as it's just about 1/2 of the way up the 5. Just outside of our room was a large patch of grass. This was good, as we had our dog with us.

Really liked the appearance and layout of this hotel. The rooms were situated in a number of rows with a winding walkway in between, more like a southern resort. Also the recommendation to the Harris Ranch Restaurant across I5. Ended up there on New Years Eve (among many others experiencing quality dining). A 5 o'clock breakfast opening was great for those facing a long drive.

The outside doesn't look like your typical Best Western Inn, but considering it was close to HWY 5 and across the highway from Harris Ranch where we were having xmas dinner, it was quiet and the size of the room made our stay very comfortable. I won't go back to Harris Ranch for dinner but I would stay in this BW if in the area.

We use this hotel when traveling between No. & So. CA. It's a good mid-way point. It's always clean, and comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. The breakfast is general fare for this type of hotel.

If your staying over night its a nice place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff. If you need to stay on Coalinga for a day this isn't a bad option. Easy access to and from freeway and plenty of gas stations near by. If you want a quality dinner you can go to Harris Ranch.

First of all, this motel is laid out so that all rooms are good ones. It is one level, making it very easy to arrive late at night and get your belongings installed in the room. Also, the breakfast room is very well maintained, with a fair variety of offerings. You may need to book early, as this is a very popular stop for truckers. The only negative is that the people at the desk are not too welcoming.

We were surprised at the lovely setting even tho right beside the freeway. Cozy, one-story, residential feeling to the place. Special touches in the rooms and the friendly, efficient person in the breakfast room made our short stay very pleasant.

I travel to and from Portland Oregon to Phoenix Arizona about 3 times a year. This is a great half way point. They take pets and are very accommodating. The initial reservations made went smoothly. I will be back again in 2016. There is a great place to eat across the freeway at Harris Ranch. Several gas stations in area. This location is truly in the middle of no where. Outstanding place for the price

This hotel has always been a favorite of our over the years. The place is well kept and there seems always to have been some improvements to the rooms; recently they have been redecorated and updated. Always clean and neat inside and out. We enjoy the selection of good breakfast items and are happy they allow us to bring our breakfast back to our room to enjoy again [for a while they required it be eaten in the breakfast room only].

Very good value for the price. To my complete surprise they had real dishes in the breakfast room. Not sure if this is an every day occurrence but it just felt good to embrace that warm cup of coffee in the morning.

Very nice rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. Nice pool area (did not use) and better than average complimentary breakfast- waffles, bagels, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal. Limited fruit but it was October.

We booked a room here as part of a move between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Our standards were not that high as we just needed a place to sleep for the night. When we opened the door to the room, it looked as if the Inn had just been built! The room was big, clean, and quiet despite being close to the I-5. Highly recommend this place if you need a place to sleep for the night. Only downside is the breakfast - toaster not working and it was a typical continental breakfast spread. Stronger coffee and pastry down the road at Harris Ranch.

Receptionist was very helpful. We loved the layout of the site. The rooms were like chalets, off winding paths between each section. The whole site is well maintained and the pool was very welcome. The room was large, very clean and smelt lovely. (We found out from other reviews this was because there's a cattle farm down the road but this honestly never bothered us). I would recommend this hotel.

I stayed here coming home a trip from NorCal. Clean, basic motel to break up that awful boring drive down the 5. Thank goodness the ac worked well as it is very hot in summer. The only downside was the free breakfast. The hard boiled eggs seemed to be several days old and were hard and rubberey. Room was large and clean. All the grass was dead due to the drought which made it seem hotter

My wife and I were in the wine country for 3 days at a family reunion. We left for home in Southern California on Sunday at 11AM. Traffic was bad, so we decided to call ahead. I found this new BW on my cell phone and called for a reservation. All the ADA rooms were taken, so we settled for a standard regular room. It was new, clean, and very comfortable. And quiet. Once we arrived, we realized the hotel was on the opposite side of the HARRIS RANCH, where we had an excellent dinner. The only bad thing is there are two steps on to the small porch and no rail to hang on to. I use a walker and it made my entry a challenge ....but good for me.

This property is attractive and clean and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. If they upgraded their toiletries and added a small workout room this could easily be a Best Western Plus. A note to frequent BW travelers, this property stops serving the complimentary breakfast at 9:00 a.m. rather than the customary 10:00 a.m.
