Had a very comfortable stay. Only downside was our chrome cast was unable to work with how the wifi is set up. Otherwise the room was clean, great location and super friendly staff. Breakfast was above par from other hotels I have stayed at.

The hotel is very clean, staff are very friendly! Easy check in and check out! Great breakfast and wifi signal is strong! Very easy to go anywhere, ski or park place business center or to the lake! If possible would like to stay again!

Room was filthy. Stain on bedsheets. Mildew on bath mat. Coffee machine was filthy. Top of tv extremely dusty. Shelf above coat rack was dusty. Dust everywhere. Took pictures if you wish to see them , let me know.

Great place. I have stayed here three times while travelling through Barrie and always have had a good experience. It has good beds and pillows, clean, fixtures in good shape, hot shower, quiet decent hot breakfast included, lightning fast free internet and convienent free parking. I wouldn't hestitate to stay here again. Keep up the good work.

WE stayed at this Best Western Plus before my husband's hip surgery. The day of surgery a massive storm blew in and we were stranded in Barrie for five days (including Christmas Day!) The hot breakfasts had lots of food and lots of variety. The three of us welcomed this warm meal to start the day. Staff were always friendly and helpful - even when faced with difficult customers. All staff deserve credit for professionalism from the housekeeping staff to the breakfast and reception staff. Our only concern was the amount of single-use plastic containers we threw away. the hotel need to get rid of all plastics - jams, butters, peanut butter containers, yogurt, plastic utensils - and ketchup packets. Actually, the entire chain could do with taking some leadership on this front.

Had an extended stay booked with spouse who was recovering from serious surgery at RVH. Mid-Stay, a teenage hockey team checked in and were loud and rude, ignoring any warnings from hotel staff, including parents consuming open liquor in public areas. Hotel staff heavily discouraged from calling police to bring peace to remaining guests. We left four days early at 1:00 AM in the morning once it was clear the short term monetary gain of the hockey team was more valuable than any other guests peace or safety. It felt like the staff would do anything not to call the police due to some fear of reprimand.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean but are in need of some TLC. The bathroom sink was extremely slow to drain and the pull out couch mattress needs to be upgraded; it was sagging and I could feel every spring. The vending machines we either out of order or were sold out of most items; not a big deal, but somewhat annoying.

Solid value place. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Gym is okay and meets needs of what is designed for. Only a pool though. CAn get noisy and busy with hockey teams but they try to contain to one part of hotel. Fourth floor is best IMO. Breakfast is outstanding considering the hotel and level of rate and staff are very good.

Good location just off the 400 allowing easy on and off from the highway. You don't hear the traffic. Easy to find and flexibility is good. Rooms are a good size and toilets are slightly high for easy use for those with mobility issues

Very friendly helpful staff that go above and beyond. Older hotel but being redone. Our room was freshly painted with new decor. The hotel was clean and anll in working order. The breakfast had lots of variety was very good. This hotel offers Excellent value.

Friendly and capable front desk service. Clean room, first class comfortable bed. Great breakfast with compliments in the morning. we would stay here again. great value for the money. Pool and laundry available for those who require it.

Spend the extra couple bucks and go somewhere else unless you are in a bind. Bathroom was filthy and mattress was worn out!! Coffee machine still had a used tea bag in it and again , bathroom was filthy. I even have my doubts that the sheets were changed if the bathroom was that dirty.

Our suite 235 was absolutely amazing. Comfortable, Quiet and had everything you needed. Staff was fast and friendly. We stayed 1 night as a stop over from a trip down south located right off the 400..

I am a long time member of Best Western and this is and has always been the only hotel I ever stay at. This hotel is the absolute worst condition of any I have stayed in.You took your employees' word that racism was used; when only using a swearword in a sentence and not swearing at him. Then he repeatedly said I swore at him which by no means was the case. I advised you to thoroughly watch your cameras as this conversation was recorded. I do have recordings. The fundamental point that people make stereotyping white people being racist is just as bad as stereotyping blacks, Asians, Muslims, immigrants and so on because whites have dominated America since its founding. The question they prefer to debate is whether so-called “reverse racism” is as harmful as the more conventional sort of racism—which, of course, it is not. But the defeat of one false equivalence does not sanctify the practice. Belittling, totalising comments about a people based on their skin colour is still a facile, unhelpfully tribal and meaninglessly antagonistic practice, even if a shameful history of systemic oppression does not lurk behind it. This front desk clerk right from the beginning had no interest in hearing my issues and was extremely impolite. It is definetly scary when ever there is a problem so many people threaten racism. Who was really being abused here. Firstly this hotel provided inadequate service right from the beginning. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding Anniversary; so we had booked the King Suite with a hot- tub. As much as we wanted that room ; extreme air freshener had been sprayed. Both of us have seasonal allergies. But this; well this was like no other Best Western hotel has ever smelled, so extremely breathtaking you could actually taste it. So we went to the front desk; discussed the problem and was given a room change to a lesser room, with no mention at first of a lower rate; as it would not be the room I requested. In the end we both suffered extreme headaches and reactions to the so called "Air Fresheners'' The pool- not in guest conditions. Extremely dirty and green. picture attached Bathroom door in the lobby. The door would not lock and toilet was plugged. Tried to go for a bath When trying to have a bath; ran and drained the tub 3 times. it was full of very green water and did get less green upon emptying and refilling. I showed the front desk within 2 minutes of the water in the tub. He offered a switch in room; but my husband was already in bed. But why on earth would tub water be so green? See attached pictures The patio door was in disrepair and very very dirty. - so hard to open and we struggled to get it open and closed. The in-room phone wasn't even hooked up. In the morning at 8 am.. a large truck was letting down a very noisy dumpster directly outside our door. See pictures Breakfast Was asked to leave by the manager who would not speak or listen to a valued customer. The manager came out at that time and refused to speak to me and refused to watch the video of how front desk treated me. There-fore was not able to have any breakfast. The water in the rooms was obviously not drinkable or bath-able. The front desk told me that they are having problems with their water softener. Humm most e more than that. So no water as vending machine was empty on all floors of water. Managed to get a ginger ale as a last attempt. I run my own Airbnb .. and almost all of my guests are of other ethical nationalities and I am the farthest thing from Racist. Is it so wrong to expect the same great service as I give. Do not go to this despicable hotel in Barrie Best Western Plus. It should not be classified a PLU according to Best Western standards.

good location, easy parking, clean, quiet, gym and breakfast both available. Staff were friendly and professional. Would stay again for sure Try for a second floor room if possible. Only issue was that the vending machine was empty, but front desk had bottled water

When you look at how this hotel advertises you get idea this is a higher end hotel with awesome ammenities and room service. All the ammenties mentioned they do provide but on a very low scale. They do NOT provide room service. We had to get our own supplies everyday (clean towels,coffee,toilet paper...) from front desk. We had to make our beds,toss our dirty towels in bin left in hallway,take out our garbage to dumpster out back. For the price we were charged I was expected more. Just call it a Best Western as there is no "Plus". I will say staff was very pleasant and not their fault hotel to cheap to provide basic room service. Should also mention no Plus with regards to the breakfast as it was borderline eatable. We did however go downstairs for coffee as it was way better than the coffee provided in room.

4 adults stayed in 1 room. Easy check-in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and rooms were very clean. It was nice to get coffee or tea at any time. The included breakfast had lots of variety. Close to malls and restaurants. Lots of parking.

I stayed at this Best Western Plus location in Barrie while attending a conference. The double queen room on the ground floor was well laid out and very clean and fresh smelling. My room also came with a fridge and microwave and I utilized both during my stay. The mattress and pillow combination were exceptionally comfortable. The morning breakfast service was very good and the breakfast service staff super friendly AND they have a separate adjoining room with tables and chairs. I'd definately stay at this location again.

Expensive, not very clean, rude staff, online reservations not working and price when booking over the phone was almost double. The room smelled funny and they refused to make up the room after our first night.

We stopped in the hotel for 5 nights August 2022 to attend a music festival. We travelled as a couple in our 30s! Good Points 1) The beds are sooooo comfy!!!! I don't think I have stayed in a hotel bed as comfy! Had fantastic night sleeps each night! 2) quiet - despite the hotel being full it was so quiet 3) Staff - so friendly! And always willing to help. 4) Clean - room and surrounding areas seemed clean and tidy! 5) Fridge - we were there when a heat wave hit so it was great to be able to store water in the fridge) Note - we also had a microwave and coffee machine but we did not use these much. Not so good Points 1) breakfast - it was not bad enough for us to mark it down! It does have a couple of hot food options which alternate each day so you get either - bacon and some sort of egg dish (omelette, scrambled eggs) or Sausage with the other egg dish. A couple of cereal options, fruit, bread for toasting. Despite myself and my partner having no problems with the breakfast we would have preferred a few more options - a bit more continental! But as I say it was not enough to put us off in anyway. We would most definitely consider this hotel again in future! Thank you!

Wonderful clean quiet hotel. Close to the highway and central to coffee shops, parks, restaurants, beach, gas station etc. Friendly front desk staff and good complimentary hot breakfast. During our stay we had bacon, waffles, hash brown, omelette and so much more. The kitchen staff was very pleasant and cheerful. They kept the area tidy and well stocked. The laundry room is 24 hours. Washer and Dyer accepts 2 loonies. Soap and fabric softener is available at the front desk for $1 each. Towels was delivered immediately when requested. Also the hotel offers unlimited complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely return in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Second time we have used this hotel now when visiting this area. Good price compared to competitors within area, also good location just 1 minutes off 400. Only downside of location is that car is required to get to any nearby restaurants. Stayed for 4 nights (Mon to Fri) and was not disturbed once by any noise, despite hotel clearly being very busy. Breakfast is of decent standard, although getting the Waffle machine back running would be better than the heat your own waffles, they are currently offering. Otherwise, is is a good complimentary breakfast offering. Trying hard to be covid safe at breakfast also with gloves etc to use Room of good standard and well appointed, also numerous power outlets in all the right places. Only servicing room every 3 nights if you are staying long term, however they were happy to service if you requested before that. Will use again when in area.

Worst over priced room I have ever stayed in. We go to breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9:15 am and the so called free hot breakfast was FREEZING COLD!!! Would not cook anymore hash browns, all out of waffles. They unplugged both steamers before we arrived. Looks as if they are trying to save money on electricity before the happiness of its customers. The shower in the room barely worked, it's liked we were standing in a bath instead of a shower. Plumbing issues!!! The room and hotel experience is definitely not worth $300/night! I would say it would be around an $89.99/night experience!!

The comforter and a lamp shade were stained. The tub had hair from previous guests in it. Overall the rooms did not feel clean at all. The rest of the hotel seemed clean. Exercise facilities were clean but limited in terms of the equipment

Did not get the room we booked. We booked a suite and paid for a suite to be told they don't have anything like that and no refund. Accused us of booking online when in fact I called to make reservation. The cleaning and kitchen staff not friendly at all. I don't think they know how to smile or talk pleasant. No maid service unless you ask but no one at front desk advised us of this

The attendant at the front desk was very polite and made check in easy. The hotel was not as clean as I had hoped. The carpets were very dirty and worn out in the hallway ways and stairs. The room was not ranked high for cleanliness. The beds did not look well made when we first walked in. There was hair in the sheets and on the floor of the washroom. I would only stay here again if I could not find another hotel with better reviews. Cleanliness is my top priority in a hotel and this was not up to par.

I choosed to stay at The Best Western in Barrie at 35 Hart Drive. The customer Service was exceptional! We spent 2 nights at this hotel having stayed there previously. We like the location and cleanliness of the rooms as well as the lobby area .Good parking which is included The hotel is easily accessible from the 400.

This is a very nice hotel. It's clean and well maintained. Staff are always very helpful. It is about a 20 minute walk to downtown so very convenient. The room was very clean. My only negative is there is still no daily room service. When so many other hotels have returned to this level of service, it starts to seem that COVID is being used as an excuse to reduce service. Definitely will be staying here when I'm back in Barrie.

We loved the location of this hotel to the downtown area. We easily walked to downtown and back to hotel safely. Our room was very clean and quiet. Our check-in ended up being much earlier than expected. It was a Sunday, but that doesn't usually happen.

We stayed for 5 night so got lots of experience with ebb and flow of this hotel. Over all it was a good experience. The rooms are clean and the staff are helpful. Our room was on a corner so it was quiet which was nice. The hotel was very full over the weekend. Lots of teams stayed here on Friday and Saturday night. The Breakfast room was very busy. Of course this meant a bit of waiting for food but it was fresh and hot!

Hotel is located close to hwy 400 and close to and in between two large Shopping Mall districts and only a block from a quilting supply store. The free breakfast had an excellent protein range for a wonderful breakfast..

Visited the area on business twice within a three week period. Both times I stayed at the Best Western. Not the newest hotel but the staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean. The continental breakfast was fresh and hot.

Can't say enough good things about Arlene and her staff at this hotel. She was incredibly helpful in every way. All staff I encountered were pleasant and also helpful. The room, while a little dated, was very clean and having the fridge and microwave was great. The breakfast was excellent and had a good variety. I would definitely recommend this property.

This hotel was excellent. Breakfast was great. We were still able to get good breakfast when it was the end of breakfast service. Plus they let us get it early when we had an early morning game. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is clean with reasonable rates. It has a breakfast on site and also a pool and fitness center. It also has easy access to highway 11 . The staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

Well appointed room, great condition. Clean & very spacious. VERY loud!! guests yelling in the halls, doors banging, can hear every footstep of the room above and every piece of luggage coming down the hall.

It was a very clean hotel. Thank God! Stayed at a few others that were scary. The breakfast was good and they had fruit available which was a plus. The CSR were very helpful with local directiond and amenities.

Pool spa and fitness room -closed had to retrieve the bedding for the pull out couch - this should have been in the room, same with extra towels even though this was requested in the reservation. Was not a great experience for the start of March break

We went to Barrie for a hockey tournament, found out that the pool wasn't open 24 hours before coming down. Asked for some accommodation to occupy the kids like the conference room for a couple hours to do a pizza party and instead were charged for the room. So some how we all paid the cost of a hotel with a pool, but with no pool??

Stayed on second floor. Another Group had conjoining rooms on first floor and opened and closed the door repeatedly while being loud from 7-8pm on to 11pm-12am. Children running and screaming playing tag in the halls. Front desk was not that far from the sound.

When I checked in, I asked the gentleman if I could extend my check out time to 12 as my medical appointment wasn't until 1:30. He extended it until 12:30. This was greatly appreciated as I had nowhere to go. Being at a time when restaurants were closed for indoor dining, because of the pandemic, it was nice to not have to sit in my car in, in the winter, or walk around the mall for 3 1/2 hours.

Rooms are not as they appear on website. Housekeeping not in rooms due to covid. Put in the farthest corners when hotel was empty. Stayed in a 6 person family suite. Not supplied as I was told it would be when I called to confirm. Building structure slopes and creaks. Convenient to the highway and food.

Absolutely the best staff. Fast efficient and friendly. Covid compliant. Comfortable rooms and beds. Arrived after 10pm and was greeted with friendly person. Able to get later check out, no worries. Excellent service.

Found the room neat and clean. The breakfast in the morning was well organized, however there was no bread for toast available. The hotel is easy to fine and is right off of highway 400. It is also close to shopping.

Booked two nights. My wife walked into room, proceeded to the bathroom. instantly noticed towel holder hanging on by a thread on the the wall. Inconvenienced by this right away. Besides everyone having to deal with COVID-19, my wife then looked around in the bathroom and noticed no large towels, and now nowhere to hang towels if we had them. I went to front desk to inform them and to get some towels, even took a picture to show the sight of the bathroom and was shown little concern. I made sure they noted rack so I could not be blamed.I went back to the room and had a shower. Half way through my shower, I was now standing in 3 inches of water. Very disappointed about the condition of this bathroom. I proceeded to use the bathroom sink afterwards it also would not drain!! I woke up the next morning, and I headed down to the front desk, I then cancelled the second night's stay. Front desk person, immediately said to me, no problem. I was expecting a reason why, that did not happen. So I would assume from that, maybe this occurs regularly. I contacted this hotel in writing once returning home for the weekend. Their response was a generic response, again showing no concern for customers. My advice to anyone thinking of staying here….DO NOT. You will definitely be disappointed!!!!

4th year in a row staying here. Perfect spot close to all the golf we had booked. Thanks for mailing me my left behind valuables greatly appreciated forever !!!!! Front desk was amazing in helping me recover some lost belongings

It was a horrible experience. The rooms that we had were not cleaner found dead bugs on the window sill and there was dust everywhere. Also the breakfast options were not enough and were the same every day. We only got scrambled eggs, yogurt, bacon, sausage, English muffin and scones. There was not a change day to day.

Again we have stayed at this hotel for our North Bay to Toronto trip. As before we were not disappointed. The front desk was quick/courteous, rooms were clean/comfy and breakfast was sufficient. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Nice hotel, big rooms, great to rest and with confortable space to work. The breakfast is quite simple due to covid restrictions, you can choose from two options and have it in your room. The front desk lady was really nice and helpful. Also, it has a spacious parking lot and it's near downtown Barrie.

It's all there for business or pleasure. I spend many days on the road for business and family time and this is my go to for a stay needed anywhere from Barrie to downtown Toronto ill even take the hour commute and stay here if I'm doing business downtown Toronto.

We stayed here because we were getting our vaccinations in Barrie. Bed really comfortable. Front staff vey friendly and helpful. Nice clean rooms and lobby. Good variety at breakfast and really good coffee. We would stay here gain if we have to go back to Barrie.

Our non-smoking room wreaked of smoke. They're not providing ANY daily housekeeping "due to the pandemic" (our stay was well into Stage 3 of reopening). The patio door was in disrepair - so hard to open, that none of my kids could open it, and we struggled to get it open and closed. The in-room phone wasn't even hooked up. The beds were ok, as was the bathroom. I wouldn't want to stay here again, though, nor would I recommend it to anyone unless there are no other options in the area.

Large room. Very clean. Mini fridge worked well. Good water pressure. Staff were very polite and accommodating. A short walk to downtown. The bad was comfortable. The hotel was quiet letting us get a great night sleep. It was easy to get to. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Barrie.

I was told in no uncertain terms that a mask was required otherwise I was told to leave the hotel and they would cancel my reservation. When staff was told of a medical exemption she responded that it didn't matter, no mask no stay.

Rented the King Jacuzzi room and it was very small. The room wasn't any bigger than a normal room and the Jacuzzi tub area took up half the space of the room. Totally disappointed with the room - terrible value.

I would like to say that all the amenities provided by the hotel was extremely satisfying and no other hotels can provide such accommodations. The complimentary items include towel, brush, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, fitness room, vending machine, wifi and many more. To sum up, I would say that this is the best hotel to live in. The most importantly is the vibe which we get is just like we are staying in our own house. It feels so amazing.

The hotel is conveniently located near the highway, and a nice selection of restaurants. The main park is only 10 minutes away, so that was an additional bonus. The main plus of this hotel was the front desk and breakfast staff. Well done staff!!

I had to stay here as I was scheduled for surgery. The staff were extremely accommodating.Everything about this hotel was excellent! I would definitely recommend this hotel and without a doubt and,,,, will stay again.

I found the service staff at the hotel extremely friendly and accommodating more so than what I am use to. They were very also sincere in their interactions with myself and our students. There was also plenty of food for breakfast every day.

The bed as so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. I've previously experienced a "grab-and-go" breakfast that was just a couple granola bars and juice in a paper bag, but at this hotel you were able to grab a complete hot breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

I travel to the location regularly and each experience is met with the same standards. Extremely well kept facility with fantastic friendly and helpful staff I would highly recommend this place to everyone

Stayed for 3 nights in the queen room with sofa bed. Hotel is very clean throughout. My room was quite spacious and included a mini fridge which was practical and a coffee maker. Typical best western style room nothing extraordinary. Had free breakfast that (due to covid) was take out with an employee serving you the hot foods. There were Omelettes, as well as scones and plain pancakes. Also had cereal boxes and juices. The woman working the breakfast was very friendly! There were also grab and go bags containing apples and water bottles which was a thoughtful touch. Front desk staff was courteous. Parking lot is large and direct access with room key to staircase leading to the second floor. Situated right off the highway 400 exit. Lots of amenities nearby, although always drove to places so not sure if its pedestrian friendly. Overall nice hotel and good value.

First time here in Barrie bestwestern front desk staf was great and friendly front area was clean looked nice bonus across street a tim hortons my room was farther down hall than i like my wifi was not that great there

Clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Good Wi-Fi, hot breakfast options are available that you can heat up in your room. Bed was a little too firm for me. Parking might be a little tight for larger trucks on the backside.

Shopping days with my sister. Good location for outlet and malls. Due to COVID our room was not cleaned and straightened. Breakfast was good. Just had to take it to you room and heat it there. Which we understand. Experience was still very good.

Booked this hotel for one night the day of due to renovation issue at my home. Check in was seamless. Stayed in king bed unit. Hotel and room were very clean. I didnt hear any noises all night. From the look of the parking lot they were busy so this surprised me. Breakfast was a take away bag available at the front desk which was very basic but understandable with Covid. Front desk staff were great especially since I forgot my key card the one time. Would recommend this hotel for those wanting a great value and great customer service!

We had previously stayed at a different hotel on another trip and were less than impressed. Not the case for the Best Western Plus. This is a nice hotel. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. This is our new go to hotel in Barrie. Only a 20 minute walk to downtown.

Me and my family booked here for one night stay very last minute. The staff was amazing and so helpful. The place was sparkling clean and first thing I notice when I arrived was the staff was cleaning the doors and floors keeping the covid safety measures in mind mask were worn at all times!

It was the long weekend, woken up at 1AM by very loud music and party right outside our 2nd floor window. Noise continued til 5AM despite reporting to hotel. Has no soundproofing, bad service, just stay away.

We recently visited Barrie Ontario for 3 days. We stayed at the Best Western Plus on Hart. We asked for the main floor and got it. Our parking spot was right beside our room we did not want to go on elevator or stairs or anything else. They took great precautions to guard against the virus and still offered a prepackaged breakfast to all guests. We had many breakfast choices which we took advantage of. It was a couple of kilometers away from Centennial beach but we went there for power walking and cycling. There was a Tim Hortons Pizza Nova call Kawartha ice cream and many other places nearby. The price was reasonable and it satisfied our needs. Everything was clean and organize when we arrived and it was well worth the money.

I have to be close to RVH hospital for a number of appointments in the near future so we will be staying at Best Western regularly. The hotel is very close to RVH and will help to ease some stress. My residence is located 80 plus kilometers away so I'm very grateful to be able to rely on Best Western being a safe and secureplace to stay.

Friendly, courteous and professional staff. Minor problems were addressed when we reported them. Breakfast choices were good and plentiful and had to be brought back to our room due to COVID. This would be one of our top choices for future visits.

Room rates have not changed but the available amenities have. Pool and fitness room closed. Continental breakfast is a banana, yogurt, juice, and pre measured cereal. The perks you pay for are no longer available but the price is the same. Go to the Comfort Inn next door. You get the same thing as BW but at a lower price! The service and rooms are just as nice.

I was looking for a stopover during a long drive to Ottawa and found this Best Western did the trick. The manager was very nice upon check-in they seemed to be doing a very good job with regard to COVID safety. I think I paid about $120 on Expedia and the room was definitely worth it. The room and bathroom were very clean. The bed, pillows, sheets, etc. were very good quality and it was a very comfy sleep. The TV had a ton of channels, too. There is a morning continental breakfast available and they did their best to accommodate visitors despite the COVID restrictions. There were no hot dishes, but they had some cereal wrapped up in saran wrap and the coffee was good. No seating available. (Also, the pool and gym wasn't available due to COVID either.) As you'd assume, the Best Western isn't in the BEST part of Barrie. No where to walk to, etc. but I pretty much expect that with a budget hotel. But driving, there were lots of stores and restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute drive. For the price - the hotel does the trick in terms of service, cleanliness and comfort.

Staff very friendly and professional great service. Room spacious and comfortable bed very comfortable bathroom standard for best western still very spacious. Amenities are closed for the time being. All in all was a nice stay.

I have stayed in 100's of hotels over the years. I have never been sooooo disgusted with a hotel manager before. The owner/manager (Arnell Patel) is a rude, discriminatory and frankly a despicable human being (in my opinion) He stole $116 from my family. Let me explain. We were tired and decided to stop driving for the night. We pulled into the best western plus BARRIE because we have stayed at many BWP and been very pleased in the past. Our nightmare started 30 mins after check in. We were travelling home during the Covid-19 pandemic and didn't want to stay anywhere but we were all getting tired. I was travelling with 2 children. Because of covid-19 I didn't want my kids walking through the lobby at the hotel so I checked us in, went to the room and unlocked the back door. As I was Finishing bringing the last of our belonging from the vehicle to the room I heard a knock. The manager was at my room door accusing me of smoking in the room. I explained that I had the back door open and I was bringing our belongings in but I assured him I smoke outside only. He then continued to threaten me with a $250 cleaning fee. Going on and on about how he's been in the hotel business for 20+ years and he knows the difference between someone smoking outside and in the room.(obviously NOT). Again I assured him I don't smoke in the room for multiple reasons. First and most importantly I am travelling with my children and would never expose them to a smoky room. I told him I would pack my belonging back into my vehicle and leave if he continued to threaten me with a $250 cleaning fee. Then he had the audacity to say if it still smells in the morning I'm charging you the cleaning fee. I lost it, and told the manager my family and I are leaving immediately then there's NO CHANCE you can charge me a $250 cleaning fee. He then had the audacity to charge my husbands credit card the overnight fee Of $116 the next day, when I specifically told him I would be paying with debit for the room but because we didn't stay overnight at the hotel the owner/manager of the property took it upon himself to charge the card I gave him for incidentals. STAY AT OWN RISK, and Whatever you do , don't give the manager your credit card Info.

We stopped here on a over night stay on our way to Huntsville .Have stayed here before and will continue to stay here . Easy access off the highway .Beds were comfortable , rooms are clean .Breakfast in the morning was great with a range of choices both hot and cold .Cook brought us out some new biscuits to try and they were Delicious!!!!!!!

My husband and I are moving and needed a place to stay as we had no furniture! We stayed close to home before heading to the airport and were pleased with the great service and discount with CAA The hotel is clean and the staff super friendly. The breakfast was a great way to start the day packing a trailer to move to BC! Lots of eggs, bacon, cereal etc. Friendly morning server in the breakfast nook. Lots of great parking and when we come back to the area we would be pleased to stay here

We went to Horseshoe Valley Resort for tubing. We chose BW in Barrie as our choice of hotel to stay instead of the resort itself. I am glad we did because it was clean, great customer service and had everything we needed. If I was to go for winter sports for in the area I will choose BW again.

We stayed at the BW Barrie for one night while attending a sporting event in Barrie. The room was great. A very good size and comfortable beds. The best part about this hotel was the breakfast. I stay at BW hotels often and the variety on offer here was fantastic. My only comment would be that the noise from the hall was a bit loud in the rooms. If I visited Barrie again I would stay here.

I was presently surprised how clean the hotel was. We stayed in a room with 3 Queen beds, the room was very spacious, the beds were super comfortable, free buffet breakfast was very good. Would definitely come back!

Our family stayed at the hotel for one night before heading to Snow Valley to enjoy a day of tubing for our daughter's birthday the following day. The first room we were given had a door that, when closed, left a large enough gap to see into the hallway and vice versa. We requested a new room and were very quickly accomodated without issue and told that they would look into the matter. We had no issues with the second room. It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the window faced the parking lot so we were able to see our vehicle. The hotel pool is quite small and not very deep so don't plan on doing any laps. I'm short (5'2") and my shoulders were very easily out of the water at all times. It was however good for the kids and they enjoyed it very much. Had I not read previous reviews I would have been very surprised by what they offered for breakfast. There were two different kinds of eggs, two different kinds of bacon, a variety of breads, juices, coffees, cereales, yogurts, fresh fruit and even a fresh waffle area that made our birthday girl very happy. Check out was easy and fast and upon leaving, we saw the maintenance man fixing the door to the first room we had. All in all, we would choose to stay here again without question.

The hotel room was tidy and the staff were extremely helpful. Check in and out was very simple and quick. The breakfast is always hot fresh and delicious. Bathrooms are cozy and water pressure is good. Awesome space to put your feet up for a brief period of time.

Stayed to save driving time to the ski hills and wished we stayed home. We got what we paid for - gross stains on the sheets, loud teens roaming the hallway late at night knocking on everyone's doors (security guard called this “ding-dong bitch” - interesting choice of words on the job) despite several calls to front desk. Security and whomever was on duty that evening were so ineffective that this went on for hours and other guests were out in the hallway at midnight trying to resolve it themselves. Breakfast was calories but not much else, my little kids had to spit out the pancakes, they couldn't swallow it - and they're carb lovers. Stay here if you want to stay in a frat house where you may luck out with a quiet night. Otherwise there are tons of other options if you want to stay in Barrie.

I have reviewed our Security Report from your stay and see that our security was patrolling and did come across some kids in the halls, they spoke to the parents a few times and all was quiet by midnight. With regards to the comment you claim our security said to you, we will address this with them directly, this is not typical of this security guards behaviour. Our complimentary breakfast has several options for guests, fresh fruit, hot & cold cereal, yogurt, made to order waffles, turkey bacon or sausage, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs or omelettes, fresh baked goods, french toast & pancakes and hashbrowns. I am sorry to hear you didn't find items that you enjoyed. This is a bit nicer than some BWs I have been too. Middle of the road updated, with new decor. Clean and quieter than you would expect being so close to the HWY. I enjoyed being near to interesting food choices. Of course there are the regulars but I found a great Mexican restaurant, mom and pop place excellent hand made food at great prices. Mexican House, basically across the street.

Great value for what we paid! Loved having the separate room for our daughter so my wife and I didn't need to tip toe around once we got our toddler to sleep! Breakfast was great, no issues with noise very quiet floor and rooms were pretty sound proof. Would definitely stay at a Best Western Plus again.

Good location, friendly staff , very clean and affordable. Free parking and free breakfast. Breakfast was decent, pancakes waffles French toast and the usual eggs and bread etc. The only complaint would be paper thin walls , constantly heard the people next door talking.

I visited the best western plus on a Wednesday night evening. I thought the location was appropriate where it was close enough to downtown to do things, but also far enough away from people. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good.

Short tips. Breakfast hot. Service great but when they ran out of hash browns at 9:10am ,no more , I asked. Mattress in our room sucked. Fairly clean . Noise a little much that weekend. Hockey tourny in town . Front desk great. Pool warm and fairly clean . Salt water pool. Price inflated because of hockey tourny. Easy to access to 400hwy.Free WiFi and parking. First floor at back is drive up. Overall for the money 6.9 put of 10. Very good value but it is still older and off the highway.

I stayed one night at Christmas eve with my wife and three kids and we were tired the night before doing activities at Blue mountain resort, that we wake up a bit late in the morning after the end of breakfast time, which was at 9:30am. At 9:45 am, almost all the breakfast was gone. We asked the lady at the kitchen if she can bring some bread so we can put in it honey or peanut butter, but she refused and she said that the kitchen is closed . I asked the front desk manager, she refused also. I insisted, because I know that all the stores are closed, Tim Hortons , and McDonalds are closed on Christmas day. After a long discussion about bread , she went to the kitchen , which was full of bread and pastry, she did give me bread and refused to talk to me and said that she will put me out of the Hotel... because of arguing about BREAD... It seems like a crazy story... I can't imagine that this is happening about BREAD and on the Christmas day .. This is kind of situation that ruins your holiday.. ! Staying in a Hotel, is not only about a room , but first, respect and customer service .. SHAME on all the management at this property.. which seems they lack experience and training.. I am a business traveler and Platinum member with Best Western , I really don't recommend this location for business or with family

We have already addressed your concerns via Google & Best Western directly. The incident which you refer to is not as described above. While we do apologize that you felt you were not treated with respect as this is not our Customer Service standards. You are absolutely correct, staying in a hotel is more than just the room. As you can see from our other reviews our Customer Service is outstanding and we do pride ourselves on the service we provide to our guests. Your wife called down at 9:30am to ask about breakfast and were told that its over but some guests were in the breakfast room enjoying the last of their breakfast if you come now you too could enjoy our complimentary breakfast. When you came down at 10am asking for items which we do not have (croissants) we told you we do not have them and you became upset demanding croissants. Our breakfast attendants did provide you with items, and our video surveillance shows you and your family at 10:11am eating breakfast in our breakfast room. Our Front Office Manager did mention they would have to call the police to remove you from the hotel if your behavior continued as another guest was also in the breakfast room who mentioned to you the items the hotel provided, you yelled at them and our Manager had to step in between you both. Again we thank you for taking the time to write your comments and as discussed with Best Western Customer Service, this is now a closed matter.

It is a best hotel to stay in Barrie with family. We enjoyed the two night at the hotel. It is very conveniently located next to HWY 400. We chooses this place to spent our Christmas holiday at Snowvally ski resort.

We booked a night away for rest and relaxation and this location was close enough that we did not have to drive for hours. When we arrived we were surprised, to say the least that there was a hockey tournament and we were put on the main floor in the hall with a lot of kids. There was a noise issue but it was taken care of ASAP. The front staff were awesome. Very friendly. We took advantage of the pool which was very relaxing.

Just stayed here on the weekend with a bunch of girlfriends and the room had 3 queen sized beds which was perfect for us and the room was very spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good in the morning although somewhat picked over when we went down. I suggest going down early to get what you want.

Very disappointed for a stay at a BW hotel. The walls were paper thin, the alarm clock was pre-set to 6:00 am, the pillows were stale smelling and lumpy, the front desk and security did little to improve the chaos in the halls from a hockey tournament group.

Stayed at this hotel after being in 3 others during our trip. This hotel had everything we needed. Fridge (spotless), microwave, high speed internet, and HGTV! Front desk staff were amazing. Very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast (hot) is also included.

Mattress was basic minimum, nice soft sheets but sleeping Was all but impossible on the terrible mattress, decor straight out of the 90's, clean but we'll worn. The breakfast was inedable but the coffee was quite good. Expected better considering it was a best Western "plus"

We have stayed at this hotel twice because it has separate bedrooms within its rooms. They will accommodate five to six people. Thus allows us to put the kids to sleep and we still have space to stay up. The kids enjoy the pool although we must remember to bring goggles next time as the chlorine is strong. The breakfast is excellent ... an ample selection of hot and cold. Staff are consistently checking and refilling the food and supplies. All staff are friendly and efficient. I do wish the price was a little less but I still would choose it again.

We had an event to attend so we did not use the pool or gym. Room was nice. 24 hr coffee at the front desk. Bed was comfy. Water pressure was good. Friendly and helpful staff. A little pricey to just sleep but overall a good stay. Food was available at the complimentary buffet breakfast.

This is an excellent option for business travel or for pleasure. Great combination of value plus amenities. It's obviously a new building so everything is fresh and clean and the staff is very pleasant. Having the hot breakfast included is a nice bonus albeit run-of-the-mill. Located very conveniently to the highway, if you are visiting Central Ontario for business or pleasure you can't go wrong with this hotel.

I stayed here on November 6th on business in Barrie. The room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The Good: -The hotel staff are fantastic. I really got the feeling that they care, which was great! -The hot breakfast was a great bonus. Eggs, Bacon, Hashbrowns, Waffles, Toast, Cereal, etc etc. It was a great way to start the day -The room was well appointed and they had about 60 channels on cable The Bad (and a reason for only an Average Rating): A downside is this was one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. It was as if there walls were paper and the doors amplified sound. I actually had trouble sleeping from the sound of a neighbour's TV and the occasional person in the hallway. It wasn't that they were being overly loud, but there is no insulation and caused quite a noise in the room. In the morning, I could hear conversations outside of my room. The window was not open, but I could clearly hear the conversation by people at their car outside of my room. Again, they weren't being loud, just having a normal conversation.

I was in town for my son's hockey tournament. The first morning I rec'd 3rd degree burns on my arm from the coffee in the dispenser. I missed one of my son's games because I had to seek medical attention and was in a lot of pain for the remainder of the weekend. I do understand that many establishments heat coffee over 210 degrees to maintain shelf life however this was a very serious injury to be caused by a few ounces of coffee. When I complained I was told "nobody has ever complained before".

You have been in contact with the hotel directly, and we apologized that someone bumped into you causing you to have your coffee spill on you, when the incident happened you did not bring it to anyone's attention, not until later in the evening when you spoke with our security team as our Front Desk Agent, Mohammed was on the phone. As soon as Mohammed was off the phone he asked you what happened, he offered you bandages and other assistance but you declined, indicating it was a little sore and that you missed your sons hockey game because of it. When you emailed into the hotel directly to bring this to our attention again our Front Office Manager, Arlene did apologize this happened to you, she also mentioned that you are the first to complain about this and had our she did check the temperature to ensure it is not too hot - everything was as per requirements. Again, we do apologize this incident happened to you.

Everything was good with our stay. The food was good, the beds comfortable, the pool was warm. The staff were friendly. It was very clean and quiet, a good value. The location was central for us. We couldn't ask for anything more.

We stayed here because it was well reviewed on Trip Advisor. Those rave reviews must have been written by hotel staff. The place is old and tired. The rooms are dismal and look like they have not been spruced up any time in the current century. We were greeted by a sign on the front desk saying “Will be back soon.” Things did not get better from there. We had rowdy partygoers in our hallway well past midnight with hotel management unwilling or unable to do anything about it. This is a hotel with no amenities that charged us $207 for the night. I will not be relying on Trip Advisor reviews in the future.

Typically we only have one associate working the desk at a time and when a guest calls for extra towels or assistance in their rooms that associate must place that sign on our desk so they can quickly go and assist the guest. With regards to the noise disturbance I do apologize for that as we do have a zero noise tolerance policy I will have to address this with the appropriate manager. Our hotel include in the room rate, complimentary high speed internet, complimentary buffet breakfast, complimentary parking, access to our indoor pool & fitness room.

We loved our stay there. Hotel was clean and lovely. Staff was efficient and very friendly. Breakfast was good. Internet was excellent. Price of staying there was excellent. Location was great - right off Highway 400, reasonably close to the downtown, and several good eating establishments within an easy walking distance. We definitely plan on using this hotel as our base of operations when we're in the Barrie area again.

I would not return to this hotel, the cost of their, apparently last room was $225 per night. We could have stayed at an all inclusive for the two nights for the same price. The room other than a jet tub in room was nothing special would expect extra perks when paying that kind of money. We were there for our anniversary. The food was not that great, most if not all is premade and then heated up. Staff was very friendly though. Again just disappointed at cost not worth that kind of money. I have paid a third of night cost and got a numbers bed. The room was next to elevator which made a loud noise in our room when in use.

Nice place to stay. Directly off the hwy which was very convenient. The hot breakfast was fabulous with lots of different options ( including non dairy products) all of the staff were extremely warm and welcoming

This hotel was conveniently located just off the highway. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and well stocked. Spacious rooms and fairly comfortable beds with plenty of pillows and warm covers. Hubby was very impressed with the selection of hot and cold items for breakfast and the variety of items offered. It was nice to have the fridge and microwave in the room as I travel with a lot of my own food due to dietary restrictions. Tv was a good size with lots of channels and Wi-Fi was solid and easily signed into. Overall a very nice stay in Barrie and we would definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again.

First time at this BW location. It is conveniently located off Dunlop St and the 400 HWY. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated and the breakfast was great. They served Bacon...I was impressed.I was able to get an early checkin, as we were visiting family for Thanksgiving.

I checked in last Thursday for 3 night stay at the Best Western Plus, in Barrie. We were in town for a golf tournament and my friend likes the BW, so I agreed. I was super tired upon check in and just went straight to bed....Next morning saw the "un-opened" condom between the bed and night stand. Just made me feel really creepy, we told the front desk gentlemen, Mohamad I think. He said he was sorry, but really didn't have any empathy or offer some kind of alternative room, upgrade. Not a slight on the entire BW chain, just a uncomfortable experience here. Maybe housekeeping could be more diligent for the next guest.

I thought the hotel was pleasant, and the rooms were clean. I was a bit disappointed to leave the hotel at 6am, return at 4:30pm, and the room still wasn't cleaned. That I could get over... The main problem was was the noise at night being on the main floor. The hallways were very noisy when kids were playing, but I figured things would get better past 11pm. Not so much luck. The person above us made so much noise, that I actually got up at 2am and reported the issue to the front desk. An hour later, at 3am, I called the front desk again. This wasn't your classic muffled TV noise, it was loud walking/working out, who knows, but human footsteps and action nonetheless. I got NO sleep which was rough because I was there for a competition. Anyway, when I went to check out, the man at the front desk said "How was your stay?" So I mentioned the noise. He said "We had security go twice, and both times the guy was just watching tv." An apology would have probably been more fitting... I don't see what the point was of basically telling me there wasn't a problem?? 100%, the noise was not simply a guy watching tv. It was LOUD. That left a sour taste to an already trying stay, especially when the room costed me over $600 for three evenings. That is STEEP for a weekend of no sleep.

Staff were excellent, any concerns immediately addressed and taken into account. If I had any issues, it would be that checking in later in the evening did not allow my wife and I tofully enjoy the pool facilities. The pool closing time was 10:00 pm. I attribute this to my late arrival. Just would have been nice to have the pool open till 11:00 pm. However, I understand the need for established operating hours and maintenance. Have reviewed this place before, we stay at least a couple times per year. Great value, lots of room options and weekday rates make suites very affordable. We stopped in Barrie for the day and was looking for somewhere to stay overnight. We wanted it to be clean, nice and not too expensive. We looked at a few hotels but BWP had the best reviews so we booked it at 3pm, was $114 plus taxes. Great value for what we received. From the parking lot we were greeted by a friendly staff member, the check-in was quick, easy, friendly and very professional. Our room was exactly what we wanted and needed. It was VERY clean and I'm a stickler for that. The amenities were fabulous, bed was SO comfortable. We were too tired but they did have a clean pool and gym. The breakfast was great, had many options even 2 types of bacon wow, my child was very happy with the Turkey bacon. The fruit was fresh and there was plenty of seating. Check-out was easy breezy, again staff were sooooo nice. When in Barrie next this will certainly be our first pick. Great place to stay.

This was an unplanned stop for two nights and we managed to get in fine. Room 407 was the room we were in which overlooked the car park at the rear, and it was quite also. Not much to say as it was what we expected from the Best western Brand.

A nice, small hotel with great service and great location. Clean and comfortable. Kids enjoyed the pool, in fact, they were the only 2 in the pool for almost 2 hours. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and staff were very nice.

This hotel was booked last minute due to an airbnb being cancelled. Beautiful hotel and great service. Staff were really friendly and gave us a bigger room to accommodate our family. Hot drinks are always available at the reception. Breakfast was OK but wasn't much for vegetarians it would have been nice to have vegetarian sausages. Most of it was finished by 9am. Overall good relaxing stay.

BUYER BEWARE. I had repeated issues with the fridge in my room to the point that my food was completely frozen and some of it useless. The general manager feels he resolved the issue but actually made it worse. The second fridge, he brought me, froze my food more so than the existing fridge in the room. When I sent a complaint to head office, I got a very abrasive and unprofessional response from Arlene Coleman (Front Office Manager). Not the type of customer service you want from an establishment where the error was on their side, not the customer's. Once I brought Arlene's email to the General Manager's attention, I asked for an apology from her. I never received an apology for that email.

Dear Rita, I am surprised to see your review and comments as I was under the impression this issue had been resolved over a month ago, both on property and during the apology you did receive from both our General Manager in the form of a phone call, and our Front Office Manager in the form of email. Our General Manager offered to compensate you for the food items that you lost due to the freezing, which you declined and our Head Office did provide you with a Travel Card for future travel with Best Western Hotels, which was accepted. At the Best Western Plus Barrie, we do pride ourselves on our outstanding service, as you can see from previous reviews from our guests. I am sorry that you feel you did not receive this same service, we tried to resolve your concerns and offered solutions to fix them while you were still a guest at the hotel, and again after you left and voiced your concerns again. Thank you again for taking the time to write your comments and offer your feedback.

We were needing a base hotel to use for a number of nights and usually stay with one of the competitors in Barrie, however the price that Best Western was offering was just too good not give them a go. Hotel was easy to find and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Car park was getting resealed when we stayed but never caused us an issue at all. Room was excellent and only complaint about it was they forgot to refill the coffee sachets one morning - which was easily sorted by the staff on desk. Breakfast was slightly confusing with different things on offer in two rooms, i.e waffle machine not in main room but in a side room but we realised halfway through first breakfast! If you are looking for a meal you are best to take your car elsewhere as there is very little choice within walking distance. Overall great quality of room and excellent sleep without being disturbed despite hotel clearly being busy. Would use again.

This hotel stay was great. Check in and check out were fast. The pool is small but it was a nice temperature. The beds were comfortable. The decor and service were great. Not far from Tim Hortons and other amenities. Looks new, well kept. No issues. I'd stay again :)

The beds were super comfy even after the screw up with my reservation and me having to take a smaller room with less amenities the biggest problem was the parking lot. There is usually just barely enough parking but during this stay they were resealing the parking lot and 1/2 of it was off limits. The hotel made no apologies for it nor did they offer/suggest alternate parking options in nearby parking lots.

I see the property as falsely advertised. Nice pics on Hotels.com do not really match what you see in real and the overall service is ok but really not good. Is jut the product as it is and does not cater for business but leisure.

The photos we have available online with 3rd party vendors such as Hotels.com are the same photos we have on our own website, and are an accurate representation of our guestrooms and public spaces. All of our public spaces were recently renovated along with our Modern Section guestrooms. Each guestroom does have a desk and office chair for our business travellers, we also provide complimentary high speed internet, along with breakfast, and we do have a small business room where if needed you can print documents, we also have a fitness room. Our property does cater to both Business & Leisure guests alike.

Enjoyed our visit - we found the staff very friendly & respectful, the room clean & comfortable, and the included breakfast very good. Very good value for the money and we intend to stay again on our next visit to Barrie in September.

My wife and I had tickets to see the Stones and thought we'd head up to Barrie for a getawayeven afyer the Stones Tour was jeopardized by Mick Jaggers health, We called the Barrie Best Western and they very graciously added an extra night and changed the daily rate as the Stones show waS likely to be rescheduled. When Mick was healthy and the Stones were still scheduled fot the same date in Barrie the BW honoured the changes they had allowed!! That truly made our visit UNBELIEVABLE. The hotel was easy to find the room was great the bed really comfortable the breakfast way more thanwe expected and yhe staff did thier jobs very well, they went out of their way to make sure we were more than satisfied! And the STONES rocked like usual on Saturday night!! All in ALL we had agreat time and will no doubt be back for future visits

The hotel itself is beautiful and the room is clean the bed comfortable. However, customer service is lacking. There was an issue with our booking and nobody tried to correct it. Also, heads up, they hold the full cost of the room plus an additional $100 (per night) on your credit card.

With regards to your 4 reservations as discussed with you, we recieved them from a 3rd party, all for 1 guest per room with 1 king bed, this is what was reserved for you. When you tried to call in and switch to rooms with 2 queen beds, we unfortunately we already sold out of them and as such not able to accomodate your request. Also stated on the 3rd party site your rooms were reserved on we do mention a valid credit card is required and we will hold the full charge per reservation plus a $100.00 security deposit per reservation. overall good hotel but no water pressure, shower was horrible, would have been nice if there was some water pressure. Seems the shower head is never cleaned as most of the hole were clogged and no water was coming out.

The room was very nice and very spacious. It was clean and the beds were so comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and very helpful with our requests. Our only issue is there was no hot water for our showers. Also, the price was very expensive this weekend.

Attended wedding in the area. We were able to check in early and there was a shuttle between the hotel and venue. Made getting ready and getting to the wedding very easy. Excellent complimentary breakfast.

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights - one executive queen and one executive king. The rooms were clean; the included hot breakfast was good; but the water in the pool was quite cool. The mattresses were not pillow tops and we had issues sleeping on them. especially my wife who needs a softer mattress top due to her back surgery and problems. Also, there was only one elevator shared by guests and cleaning staff.

My spouse and I stayed at this quaint hotel for one night. I was very surprised by the size of the room, we ordered and paid for a queen room and received a pull-out couch, small dining space and separate desk for laptop computers. Breakfast was included in the room rate and there were a lot of food and beverage options. The small pool was enjoyable.

We choose this hotel as one lay-over spot along our road trip. The hotel seems a bit old in the lobby but it did had some new renovation to up keep the guest rooms. The free breakfast is, of course, not having any surprise. However, we found some "Grab & Go" freebies on the reception counter that offer guests to have something to eat on the road in case they missed the breakfast. I think this is a good idea and it reflects the management does take into consideration to take care of their guests.

We felt very unsafe we think drug dealers were staying there the Police and Security patrolled the premises all night, not a nice feeling for family. Very run down and old beds were wore out and not comfortable at all. Would not recommend

Thank you Susan for taking the time to review our property. Our hotel was renovated in 2017 and rebranded to a Best Western Plus, our guestrooms & public areas are all newly renovated. The beds are also only 2 years old, if yours was uncomfortable I hope you called down to the desk to ask for a room change or a new mattress cover as we would have been able to assist you with that. As for the Police and Security, yes our local Regional Police do patrol our neighbourhood and will as a courtesy drive through our parking lot during busy weekends, we do have on-property Security who also patrol the hotel nightly. They do so to ensure the safety of all our guests. If at any point during your stay at our property or any other hotel, you feel unsafe please call down to the front desk as our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of all our guests at all times.

My family and I had an excellent stay, great friendly staff, clean modern rooms, hot breakfast with a lot of options. Arlene the front desk manager was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and with directions to our daily destinations. We will definitely be back.

This is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever visited. The rooms are updated with modern decor and immaculately cleaned. I had the pleasure of interacting with Arlene on the phone and at check out and you can't ask for better service. We didn't have the breakfast but did have some evening tea/coffee. The fancy flavour syrups, coffee mate and honey were a nice touch that you don't often see. All that was missing was milk (although the gentleman that was behind the desk did try to find me some). The walls do seem a little thin as we did hear a lot of noise in our room, but overall it was a great stay. We've stayed in Barrie several times and this would be our first choice for hotels. The location is also excellent and close to downtown that has some really amazing restaurants!

Our family stayed 1 night for ski/snb trip. This place is decent and clean room where our family enjoyed comfortable staying(standard 2queen). Even I and teenage daughter liked amenities like shampoo and lotion. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful :-) Breakfast was good all we enjoyed and has enough seating. If there is hot tub will be excellent! Will back again :-)

The main reason I do reviews for hotels is to help them become more mobility accessible. Overall the best Western Barrie has done a good job regarding mobility. We found the staff to be very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The areas where the hotel needs to improve are number 5, 6, 7, 8,13, and 20. See below. Entrance And lobby 1. designated priority location handicap parking. 2. step free access (level or ramped) to main entrance. 3. automated door opening. 4. ground level/lobby accessible washroom. 5. Lowered front desk. Rooms 6. accessible rooms located on the ground floor (in case of an emergency). I know this sounds like a no-brainer but every time I checked into a hotel room and they tell me I'm on the 14th floor I ask them… Who is going to carry me down in the event of emergency? 7. No carpet - carpet can be a very difficult thing to maneuver for some people in a wheelchair. 8. Need about 6” of space under the bed for a lift. Some people in wheelchairs are unable to transfer themselves out of the chair and they require a lift. Many hotels use a platform for the bed rather than a metal frame. Booked a family room. One queen bed in separate bedroom and two queen beds in main room. Price was great for a family. Easy location, lots of take out options in the neighbourhood. Breakfast was good, what you would expect and hotel was well maintained. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Getting dated and overpriced, great breakfast. Rooms use old style card reader to get in, hallways and decor are older. One spot to charge USB devices and no handy places to plug in stuff I found one extra accessible plug in the room. The doors are not well sealed to the hallway so you hear conversation amd people entering their rooms loudly.

Our complimentary breakfast buffet is served daily from 6:30am - 9:30am while the Breakfast Attendant doesn't often prepare fresh items past 9:30am, the breakfast room is kept open if guests are still enjoying their meals. Our Jetted-Tubs do not have safety rails, however I will pass this along to our Maintenance Team to see if its something they may install down the road.

We stayed at BW+ in Barrie for a ski trip and it was an excellent facility worth every penny. A great value! The hotel and amenities were in excellent shape and seemed to be of a higher value. Staff was great and very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was great; many choices for all tastes and appetites. Highly recommend this BW+ for people looking for an exceptional value but still wants a fancy hotel to stay in!

Stayed here for a weekend. Staff were wonderful, very helpful, friendly. We had reserved a room - check in was very easy. Warm breakfast provided - beacon, eggs, fresh juice, staff kept the area clean and they were friendly. Room was clean, comfortable. Room looked like it had been recently renovated - the entire room. Room was quiet, two double beds comfortable. Lots of room to move around the room. Wifi worked well. Would recommend staying here and if we are back in the area, we will return here for sure.

Have stayed at this hotel location a few times now and am quite impressed. Clean, comfortable, good breakfast. Easy to get in and out of. Close to Hwy 11/400. Lots of little restaurants nearby within walking or driving distance.

Family wanted a place to stay during our Snow Valley trip. The hotel location is amazing 2 min walking from Tim Hortons, Popeyes, convenience store, indoor swimming pool for the kids. Rooms very spacious and the kitchen has all the requirement as if you have your home kitchen, well maintained. Staff are super friendly.

Great place to stay. Clean and convenient location. Breakfast was great. Loved the spa tub. I will again mention the cleanliness. I was impressed with how clean it was. Did find it strange that there was no bible available. Overall great stay.

We live in Barrie and would not usually stay at a hotel so close to town but were hear as part of a theatre group! The rooms were nice large and well appointed, the amenities were very nice. The beds were comfortable, the pillows however left a little to be desired, they were lumpy and I could not find one that was overly comfortable. When we were leaving, well before breakfast opened for the morning, the friendly staff who were starting to get breakfast ready offered coffee, juice, fruits and muffins even though they were not open for or completely ready for service. This was very kind and much appreciated! The staff were great and very accommodating and the hotel is well located and comfortable. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a Barrie stay!

We picked this hotel based on location...it was en route from the airport to our destination, so we had a bonus day in Barrie. Plenty of parking, easy check-in so all good so far. Room was large, comfortable and clean (as we expect from Best Western). They had a pool which we used in the morning and was really nice. Maybe my favourite bit was the breakfast, nothing special just really nicely done, so relaxed and plenty of choice. Location, staff, food, pool, everything about this stay was just right.

I stepped into our hotel room. We booked this room for two people to share. We hoped two queen beds we weren't going to share a bed. Big companies beware when you book the whole hotel for your teams. Ended up being a double bed for one bed and with a pull out couch bed for the second. Who still have these?? It was the oldest couch with the most HORRIBLE pull out mattress. Plus it had weird colours in the bottom. I felt I was sleeping in a shady motel. This bed wasn't made. Nothing to even MAKE IT. I call room service. They said they couldn't switch our room because the hotel was booked. I asked if we could have an upgrade of an apartment suite as this was just poor accommodation. Side note: the bathroom tub didn't drain properly and the hotel towels were tough like sandpaper - you know when you hang to dry? They couldn't do anything. Usually when it's this bad the book ya to the hotel right beside us who had two double bed availability. Anyways we were brought this ugly yellow blanket that had stains on it. Gross. It was clean but stained. Then on our second call to room service later in the night we asked for an actual comforter with a mattress topper.... like come on!!! You need to have this for your guests when they first ask. Anyways not going back here ever.

I've stayed at many Best Western Plus's and most have quite good breakfasts, this one was just fine, but expected more from previous experiences, lady was going on her break when some of the for needing refilling! Rooms are older, beds are fine pillows are VERY large, slept without one, we could hear people in the pool are we were on the second floor, front desk staff was great no complaints there! Have stayed at other hotels in Barrie and they are all about the same, nothing awesome

We stayed here for a weekend for a wedding and we can't say enough great things about the staff. Great rooms, great service. Shout out to the breakfast staff for taking such great care of us and our group.

Stayed here recently with family and not first time. My previous review was not much different from this one.The hotel is clean, staff friendly, price very fair and breakfast very good. The last time I wrote a review of this hotel I mentioned how noisy the next room was, we could hear everything through the shared room door. This time I had two evenings of people slamming their doors, immediately opposite. Why dont hotels have doors that close quietly and slowly without being slammed. Secondly I used the laundry facilities and the room stank. I saw a mop immediately inside the inner door, dont know if that was the problem, but it smelled like a sewer. The machines were old and could really do with an update. Many people like to wash every few days when on the road and we do not want a sewer smell or old machines. That would be nice to fix.

Very Clean & friendly staff breakfast was very good! Beds comfortable and room cleaned to top standards. Enough parking. Great for hockey teams. Pool was small but at least there was one. Guest check in employees we're extremely friendly and courteous

The hotel is placed just off of Hwy 400. It is close to downtown Barrie and business areas. The rooms very well designed, lot of power outlets to recharge electronics, gym, swimming pool and one of the best complimentary breakfasts we have seen.The front desk and staff were very good.

The hotel staff was amazing! We rented out their hospitality room for a low price and it was so convenient! I would definitely stay here again with my ball hockey team! For the price of this hotel I wasn't sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised!! From check in to check out every staff interaction was fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean with very modern touches. The pool was small but great temperature. We will certainly be back!

The Best Western at 35 Hart Dr in Varrienwas a pleasant surprise! The staff are polite and friendl. The building bright and updated. The rooms are quite a nice size for your standard double room. Lots of room to move around, a nice size mini fridge and microwave. My only slight issue with the property is the small, tiny pool and lack of hot tub. There is a standard breakfast included, hosted once again by polite and friendly staff. They even open up another room if there is a need for more seats. I would definitely recommend this property for traveling on business, with teams or anything like that.

The hotel was quite nice. Rooms were clean, plenty of parking around the building, staff were pleasant and prompt in serving us at check-in and check-out. I would not hesitate to recommend it. My daughter and granddaughter made use of the pool. The only issue was the full breakfast which was pretty much dried out as we arrived for breakfast later than usual. The server was pleasant and helpful.

The staff are so friendly and professional. Great visit with my two young kids. Small pool is good for young kids. Breakfast has everything but only open til 9:30 (coffee/tea station 24 hours). Modern, clean and great experience.

We needed a weekend getaway and had never visited Barrie. I am so glad I chose the Best Western in Barrie. They gave us a comfortable room and a good hot breakfast each day. The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and efficient. One minor issue was our key cards did not work properly but they replaced them and solved the issue. They are located quite close to the downtown area, the restaurants and the lakefront. We got a ground floor room which had a sliding door walkout to the parking lot. We found this very convenient since I could park right beside the room which was great for packing and unpacking. No need to take your bags all the way through the hotel! The hot breakfast had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, waffles, pancakes, juice, tea, coffee, cereal, muffins, bagels & fruit....something for everyone! Special shoutout to Cathy (I hope I got her name right): she was constantly replenishing breakfast items. There was another lady there who cleaned up stuff from our table. You could get coffee or tea 24/7 if needed. And they were very reasonably priced. From check-in to breakfast to check-out we met up with warm friendly staff. I have stayed at a few different BW's now and I have had a good experience each time. I would highly recommend the Best Western Barrie.

Newly redone lobby & rooms, clean, good breakfast, I stay here a lot for business, the staff has always been friendly & great to deal with. walking distance to restaurants, beer store Timmy's. I will continue staying here & recommend it to anyone.

Hubby & I stayed here just as a one night getaway. Not a very pleasant area, but we booked our room with a jaccuzi tub and it was one of the best room experiences. Clean, big, romantic etc. Breakfast was amazing, but make sure you get there at the right time, they seem to like to trick you with their breakfast hours. I'd love to go back, but wish it was in a better location in Barrie!

Clean, polite and efficient. Rooms are reasonable. The bed was a bit firm for my liking. Minor issues like burnt out reading light, and breakfast was hot but plain. Still enough variety to suit most appetites.

Breakfast was buffet style , had all the essentials eggs,sausage,pancakes,toast,hash browns and fruit. Bed was comfy and comfy, room was clean and modern. Staff very nice and professional. Need to replace hot tub

At youth we live in Barrie our home was being renovated and we wanted to get away for a day and relax… it was great. Very relaxing,clean and pool was perfect. The staff was great! The room was very inviting, wonderfully decorated and comfortable. Just what we needed.

Rooms were very clean and the breakfast was well laid out and ample and tasty! Parking was a bit of a challenge and taxi's were whipping through the parking lot, but other than that a great place to stay.

Had to stay in Barrie for the night and this hotel was conveniently located closed to the city center and just off the main hwy-400. Next to many fine hotel chains but looked the best from the street and had plenty of parking.

The staff were excellent and made us feel at home. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Location was central and easy to find off the 400 Highway. The breakfast was well presented with friendly staff. We will book again in future.

We travelled from Scotland and had two rooms for 6 nights at the Best Western. Great hotel, spotlessly clean, good breakfast and an incredibly friendly staff particularly those on front desk. Great stay and will visit again next time.

I thought this hotel was clean and nice, rooms were big and had a mini fridge and microwave, nice big tv's. front desk staff were friendly and helpful, it's located just off the highway and close to restaurants. Breakfast doesn't start till 630am so if you have an early morning meeting it doesn't leave you much time but breakfast was very good and they had a good variety of things to choose from!

I've stayed in almost every hotel in Barrie and this one is by far the best. The hot tub was down, which was unfortunate timing, but otherwise they are great! Breakfast is standard, but lots of options. Rooms are clean and staff is excellent. The price cannot be beat and they are the only hotel that has a 3 queen bed room, which is perfect for families. You will not be disappointed.

We only needed a place to lay our head and that is about the only thing you will want to do in this hotel. Just off the highway so it is a great place just to check in and check out but with the lack of amenities and sketchy area of Barrie leaves you waiting for the next day so you can just move on.

Stayed overnight before a school ski trip to Mt St Louise Moonstone, so the location was great. We arrived on a Sunday evening Jan 25 at 630 pm after grabbing a quick dinner at Boston Pizza . We found the double queen bedroom quite large, SUPER soft bedding and pillows. Really liked the lamps and reading light adjustable arm attached to the headboard...great for reading after my son went to sleep! Nicely appointed for a value hotel (we paid $91 Canadian) . Bar fridge to keep our ski snacks cold, nice clean room/bathroom. Quite a complimentary breakfast selection...fruit, bread, rolls, bagels, hot and cold cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurts, muffins, pastries and more! not 5 star but well worth the stop in in the a.m. before hitting the slopes with my son!

We stay at this hotel everytime we come to Barrie for work or pleasure. The staff are very friendly and aim to please. The renovations done in the last year and a half provide a very beautiful view upon entering. The breakfast served and included with stay is a great variety (better than many hotel provided breakfasts - offers eggs, bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns, waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereail, toast, coffee, juices, muffins, cookies, etc.)

Hotel is very clean and the front desk staff are very friendly and offer a smile whenever passing by. This hotel will be my first choice when visiting Barrie in future. I like the new renovations and location....close to The Keg.

The rooms were well keep, they made swans for my husband I for celebrating our anaversary. Front desk was very helpful when we had trouble finding a restaurant for dinner. The lobby is looking wonderful with the new breakfast area.

Check in was very smooth and easy! Staff was very friendly and helpful in bring me extra towels and cleaning my room when I went out for the day. breakfast was delicious, a lot of options to choose from. Room was very clean and spotless, would definitely stay again!

We went as a hockey team and a few of us had some issues. But the staff there were very nice and tried to fix the problems. The breakfast was good. Pool was small but the kids still had a good time. Hot tub wasn't working. We used the gym and the equipment was good. Everything worked. I would probably stay there again.

Excellent hotel wonderful staff well done rooms brightly lit and well maintained. Only fly in my soup was some of the other guests...my advice watch out for “hockey season” and avoid tournament weekends

This trip was good but wish there was more restaurants in the area Being out by the highway there is not much choices for people who don't drive and taking taxis everywhere can get expensive. This trip at the hotel was great.

This hotel has comfortable rooms and polite staff. It is a huge facility and when we stayed there the halls were busy with noisy and partying young adults. While we did call down in the night to reception, they simply answered that the security staff were patrolling the halls and that was that. Disappointed.

Stayed just one night. Room quite comfortable - two queen beds. Very clean. Good morning breakfast. Only complaint was Rogers cable was intermittent and when I called front desk there was no solution as it was a "Rogers issue" Funny how in morning breakfast room the cable tv was working fine.....hmmm. I would return to this hotel again.

My partner and I travel a lot. Out of many hotels we have stayed in, this hotel was one of the nicest. The staff were very nice, and accommodating. We stayed in the king suite, and LOVED the jaccuzi tub. The lighting was not the best, but did not put a damper on our rating. The pool was small, but nobody was around on the Monday night that we stayed, so it was a great size for the two of us. The hot tub was not working; this seems to be an ongoing occurrence in our hotel stays - but the jaccuzi made up for it. The breakfast was good - but we were late by 1/2 an hour, so we missed the waffles. The only thing that made me a little upset was that it was for our anniversary, and after putting in to make it special as a special request and the hotel saying they would - there was nothing. They have many complimentary items. Overall it was a great honeymoon.

Great place to stay. We needed a suite to accommodate our large family. Amazing rooms and the service was great! Breakfast was good and the had Gluten Free and Dairy Free options. If you are in the area check out the Kawartha Dairy Store just down the street!

Nothing better than a brand new place to stay. Quick off ramp for best location. Plenty restaurants nearby. Handicap parking was very limited. Great place for for stop over on the go couples who travel. A lot of shopping around.

Everything was what you'd expect from Best Western, I'm always impressed with their product. This time I was especially happy with the people involved in my stay, from front desk staff who helped me with some issues at check-in to the breakfast server who made me feel welcome and that it was a pleasure to serve me (even though I didn't arrive one morning till 15 minutes after closing time and she had to put all the food back out), to the room staff that kept me in coffee to my hearts desire as well as keeping the room spotless. I wanted to live there!

We were pleased with everything at the hotel with the exception of the breakfast. There is an all day breakfast restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel where we had our breakfast. The room was very clean, with lots of towels, comfortable bed and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again if the need arises.

Pros: - Hotel room was clean and beds were comfy. - Breakfast had good variety. - Location was convenient. Cons: - Walls are very thin and people seems to be in the hall way from 6pm thru to the wee hours of the morning. I'm not a light sleeper (and had a drink before bed) but even I was kept awake. Make sure to bring some ear plugs. - TV was very glitchy - was told by hotel staff that this was being worked on so I'm sure it will be fixed for the next person however, it would have been nice to drown out the children playing in the hallway. All in all, if you get a good deal - take it. We will be trying our luck somewhere else next time but only because there seems to be lots of options in the area.

We stayed for our annual Christmas shopping trip at Best Western and it was amazing. Each morning we had a warm complimentary breakfast. The rooms were very nice and cozy. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back next year!

I stay about 30 to 40 nights per year in BW and this is one of the better ones. The front staff were all smiles and the housekeeping is extraordinary. The breakfast was excellent. Check out was easy. I only had one complaint. I am on CPAP for sleep apnea and there was no plug at the head of the bed except to unplug the light. You should look at putting a different light fixture with a plug so your guests can plug in medical devices or their phone to charge it. I will be staying again! Great location with lots of nearby restaurants. room was super quiet although close to the 400.

Surprised as this hotel was modern, very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and good value to have that included with your stay. Would go back there again. Pool was a good size and also a good amenity.

I stayed at the hotel while in town for a short course. The location was perfect as it allowed me to walk downtown and leave our car with my wife. The hotel is very modern and clean/updated. Our only complaint was that the infant cot provided for our 3-month old was inappropriate - fine for an older child, but not one where suffocation is still a risk. However, we had a back up so this was a minor inconvenience. Excellent staff and a well equipped, well located hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location but Highway 400 construction in the area does make it awkward to get into as well as there is no east bound exit on Dunlop going southbound. Had to go to the next exit and backtracked.

Love this Best Western - there are different options for types of rooms. Suites have been affordable in my experience, and there is a family room (with a separate bedroom) which is so helpful when traveling with small children. The pool area is a bit small, but with children they don't mind!

The front desk ladies were so lovely upon check in, and offered me a little welcome back for being an elite member, that definitely made my day. I also received a complementary room upgrade to their executive section and I was very pleased. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable . The girl working in the evening had amazing restaurant suggestions for us, and when we returned to the hotel, she asked us about our experience . In the morning, we had the pleasure to enjoy their hot breakfast, and we got to know some of their guests that are now frequent travellers to this locations and i can definitely see why. overall, amazing stay and no complains at all! I cannot wait to visit my new home away from home when I'm in the barrie area

Well, sadly but true i spend one night at this location and i woke up full of bug bites in face and back! I went to the front desk and she said it might be an spider since your room is on the first floor!! Ok im like whatever!! Thanks So 3-4 hrs later this bites became huge so i went to the dr and she said yeah « bed bugs » so now freaking on the road i got to my new hotel and they dont have laundry guest !!! I went to a public laundry and wash everything but completely even my case!!! What a nightmare!!!! Its looks fully renovated and clean!! Omg no it change my whole trip!

We recently stayed 5 nights and travelled the area Christmas shopping. Through trip advisor tips, we requested bottom floor room with patio door to outside parking area. Being a smoker this was most convenient and, we were lucky enough every night to have our car parked right outside of our patio door. Rates are higher for same room Friday and Saturday nights but for Tues to Sat night averaged out to $700 after tax for the 5 nights. Breakfast is included but I guess bed was comfy as neither of us made it up and out to check it out before 9:30 am when it is served until. As other reviews ongoingly mention, hot tub jets in pool area weren't working but, soaking in the hot tub still enjoyable at night. There's so much to see in this beautiful geographic area, this was our first time, won't be our last and, Best Western ground floor patio door room will be our choice next time!

I would definitely recommend this Best Western location. It's a quiet, friendly hotel. Clean, comfortable beds. Friendly & helpful front desk staff. Travelling north or south on Hwy. 400 this hotel has easy access off the highway & only is close enough to shopping malls & restaurants, etc.

The staff is always welcoming and caring on every visit, but this time we traveled up for a funeral for a family member. The staff was extra helpful and kind. The people at the desk were understanding and respectful. The maintenance staff went out of their way to be considerate of our needs.

Newly renovated decor and cleanliness were a welcome surprise for a short business trip. Cardboard dishes and plastic cutlery distracted from the value of a warm breakfast. Good value and easy check in and check out.

This is a very nice hotel. The staff is excellent. They have thought of little things to make a stay comfortable. The amenities are good and the bathroom very clean with up to date fixtures. Housekeeping has done an excellent job to keep the room clean and comfortable.

We recently stayed at BW in Barrie Ontario with other family members, the staff was helpful and very friendly. The room was very clean and comfy beds... bathroom also very clean! we will stay here again!

No USB places in room to charge phones and equipment. Cheap soft pod coffee maker in room not a quality coffee maker like a Keurig. I would expect higher quality for being charged 182 /night. The breakfast area is extremely small and do not have options for people with food allergies.

Our hockey team stayed here during a tournament. Hotel was in a good location. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was enough to fill the kids for the day. Pool was on the small size, but large enough for kids to play around in. No noise from other rooms was heard. All in all, good value for the money.

Very clean room. Bed was super comfy. Pillows we're horrible and lumpy and the replacement wasn't much better. Noise from an adjoining room was annoying otherwise the full hotel was quiet enough. Indoor pool was small and the hot tub didn't bubble when the button was pressed. Good location, easy to find. Breakfast room was way too small and food layout awkward to move around in especially with the weekend crowd. There was another room to sit in but it was way to cramped where the food was. Lots of food choices though that changed during our stay.

So we had tickets to see Chris De Burgh in concert at Casino Rama and I had enough points for a room at Best Western. After a bit of research we settled on this hotel on Hart Dr. in Barrie and I'm glad we did. The hotel is just off Hwy 400 and set in a bit of an industrial area. But when you are there just for a night its no problem and was nice to be so close to the highway considering we had to get to and from Orillia for the concert. On check in we got a very friendly greeting from the girl at the front desk and she knew right away that we were using our points to pay for the room. We were assigned a room on the 2nd floor and it was an end room so nice and quiet. The room was nicely laid out, very clean and looked like it might have been remodeled in the last year or so. The bed was extremely comfortable (as my unforeseen afternoon nap can testify to) and the pillows and bedding were of good quality. Lots of channels to choose from on the tv plus the usual selection of coffee and tea making facilities. Bathroom was very clean and well laid out as well. Because it was an end room we actually had 2 windows in the room, one on what I would call the south wall and then a smaller window on the east wall so plenty of light when needed. In the morning we headed downstairs where they had a pretty good hot and cold breakfast laid on. Very creamy scrambled eggs (that was a good thing), toast, bagels, muffins plus bacon etc. There were probably other things on offer but my brain and my hunger were focused on bacon and eggs and I did not go hungry. Plenty of seating as well in a side room they had opened up off the main food area. All in all it was a nice one night stay and if we were to go to Orillia for a concert again or even just needed somewhere to stay in the Barrie area I wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel.

stayed here while kayaking at a couple of different provincial park over the weekend .would definitely stay here again ...rooms were clean ...breakfast was good with an assortment of things to eat .close off the highway for easy access.

Be sure to advise your server at The Keg if you eat there that you are staying at the BW, you will receive free appetizers. Also beware they do not allow debit cards to be used at check in. This is a new scheme property and very comfortable though I would prefer a Beautyrest mattress.

I stayed here after my favourite place to stay in Orillia was already booked, and I'm glad it worked out! The hallways still look like the 1980s, but when I walked into the room I was pleasantly surprised by how modern and spacious it was. Also very clean. I had a great sleep. The breakfast in the morning was great if you like the continental options - lots of fresh fruit. I didn't try the hot food. There's a Tim Hortons around the corner if you need a quick bite. I'd definitely stay here again.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay here! Really appreciate that hockey teams are accepted as a whole! My daughter and her friend loved having pool time without all the boys! Hopefully we can make use of your facilities again in the future!

Over all stay was great. Staff were pleasant and curtious Breakfast was great.included with room. Would stay there again next time in Barrie. Good location easy to find. Close to all emenitys. Fast check out.

Arrived on a hot humid day and was so glad of the air conditioning. Hotel was comfortable, staff were friendly, beds were comfortable, lots of towels, pillows, outlets for c pap machines. Breakfast in the morning was great no complaints.

Easy access to the highway, Clean and friendly place. Good breakfast lots of selection. Staff is always smiling. Good size rooms great value for the price weight room nice pool and hot tub have good hours and are kept clean over all I would rate this hotel a 10.

Everything seems to be done with the visitor in mind: car parked outside the room with a sliding door to access the car park; a full range of breakfast options; helpful pleasant staff; a clean room with comfortable beds, fridge, microwave etc.; quiet area.

I have stayed here many time's, the staff know me by name which is awesome! The recent renovations are fantastic, laundry on site is huge for me as travelling all the time. Just a great place to stay & right downtown Barrie

We enjoyed our one-night stay in Barrie. We were passing thru & it's always nice to have a clean, friendly place to stay. Desk staff gave us recommendations for places to eat within a 5 minute drive. The room was large and comfortable. The included breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here if ever in the area again.

we stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a friend whose sons wedding we were attending locally. It was adequate for what we needed although the breakfast area was a bit cramped and the poor waitress was rushed off her feet. Staff were very friendly

rooms were clean and very helpful staff. The evening was noisy for a while, kids running up and down the hall but later they settled down. The parking was adequate and easy to get in and out of. We had breakfast and checked out easily.

An average type of accommodations but a little pricy for the value received. Easy to find just off of highway 400 and ample parking. Only 1 elevator for 4 flours and was slow at timesContinental breakfast was very basic and was only from 6:30 to 9:30 even though this was a Sunday morning

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. All staff had smiles and were very friendly. This hotel was under construction but wasn't bad at all. We stayed in a newly updated room and it was very nice. I have been at other hotels where the staff were miserable and ruined my stay. NOT here, was a VERY nice stay - thank you very much!!!!

Best ever Best Western! Was at a wedding and forgot/lost my shawl. Called the hotel and Brittnie actually went to my room to check, found it there and called me so i would not worry! Outstanding! Would recommend again and would go again! Easy to get to. My daughter loved the pool

The best place to stay when visiting Barrie and/or Casino Rama. Friendly and caring staff. Comfortable and quite clean rooms. The recent renovations are awesome. This hotel is conveniently located just off HWY 400 at the Dunlap St exit. We have stayed here several times over the past eight years and will continue to stay here whenever we are visiting this area.

Loved our stay at Best Western in Barrie this past weekend. Hotel room was very clean, front check-in staff were very pleasant and helpful and a great breakfast both mornings! Also found this hotel very quiet. Would recommend this hotel.

Hotel was clean, comfortable and staff was excellent, meeting all our concerns efficiently and quickly. The swimming pool was great for a five year old. Hot tub needed a cleaning. Very quiet and good for getting a youngster to bed and sleep. We will return to this hotel.

Really nice hotel, good service, good breakfast and swimming pool. Location is good, right near 400; the hotel rooms are well sound-proofed, and you can park near your room as well. We used it for a short stay when we visited remote places like Midland and others.

I will never stay at a Best Western again. I have now had 2 terrible experiences in a row. This site in particular was so dirty I couldn't believe it. I would have checked out if there was another hotel with availability. The air unit had so much dust accumulated between the vent openings it obviously has not been cleaned in years. Something was splatered on the bathroom walls, some of the light fixtures are not wired, dead bugs and crumbs inside the drawers of the kitchen area, I had to hunt for the remote. Found it in a bedside table with the pad of paper I needed but didn't have on the desk, but all the pages were scribbled on, the rods to assist in closing the curtains were not attached...I could go on and on...their do not disturb sign actually goes into the card slot of the door. The house keeper actually took that out and opened our room door each day we stayed there!! Were they attempting to snoop through and steal our belongings??!! They were like deer in headlights when we looked at them and told them to put the sign back in the key slot! You think they would would have learned after the first day. They thought we were all gone when they saw one of leaving for work in the morning...surprise! I'll never return.

We have stayed here before, and will likely stay here again. It's right off the 400, handy to Dunlop St which is the main drag in Barrie. The rate is reasonable and the rooms are fine. We found the breakfast room small.

Newly renovated and friendly/helpful front desk people. We had a corner room with a king that was great (2 windows on opposite walls!) There was a woman who diligently kept the breakfast buffet up- there was more than enough hot food! Good location- just off the hiway and away from the south end craziness- easy to get to the East end and downtown. The only complaint I would have is the attention to detail was lacking- the stairs leading to the end floor could use a vacuum, our sheets didn't lay flat so the bed looked a little unkempt and the small window was missing a blind. Like I said small things, but if they stepped up their game a bit this easily could be a top Barrie hotel.

We were in Barrie, Ontario for a family vacation and stayed at the Best Western Royal Oak Inn. Great staff, very friendly and very helpful. Renovations were taking place at the time of visit so having to wait 15 minutes in the stairwell after leaving the pool to go back to our room was a bit annoying. The renovators were very loud and sometimes very inconsiderate to visitors with their excessive and loud yelling back and forth down the hall and the hammering. Wish we were informed prior to check in!

The staff were very accommodating at breakfast several people thanked the young girl who looked after the breakfast .The front desk people were also friendly and helpful. there was plenty of parking and the area as well as the hotel were very clean.

Staff in the hotel are friendly. Room is very clean and comfortable. This was the first time For my family to stay in BW and we all loved it. My kids enjoyed staying there. We will come back again for sure.

The Best Western Royal Oak Inn, Barrie, ON is our hotel of choice. The staff are pleasant and helpful, the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. We are always pleased with our stay at Best Western Royal Oak, from start to finish. Nice staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, breakfast; we appreciate all of it. After many years of staying in Barrie, since our first stay at Best Western Royal Oak a few years ago, we have not considered staying anywhere else in the Barrie area.

Room was dirty pillow had stains wall had pop or something on it I was not impressed hopefully this was an isolated case and others do not have to put up with this kind of service for $249.00 per night you would expect better

We stayed in Barrie at the Best Western Royal Oak Inn for five nights in August. We had a family suite for the four of us. We were extremely happy with our stay there. The room was very comfortable and quiet with lots of space for us. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning, plenty of food and it was always fresh and hot. An excellent stay for the price and easy access from highway 400

Great value for money. Exceptional staff. Breakfast included which is a bonus. This hotel is close to downtown Barrie and all of the malls. It is also 15 minutes away from Tanger Outlet Mall and 20 minutes from Orillia which was great for us.

Close to the 400 Highway and downtown where I had business. This trip had construction around the cut off to Dunlop Street but I was familiar the area. Hopefully that will be over soon. Staff very friendly and handled the issue I brought to their attention very quickly.

We stayed recently for a baseball tournament and we're blown away but the amazing service. Everyone was very friendly and the entire stay was enjoyable. The rooms were spacious and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I stayed at the motel for our 43rd anniversary. We had never been to Barrie before so opted to go check it out. We were very satisified with everything about the motel service and the cleanliness of the motel. Staff were all very friendly and courteous including the handyman. Even though they have renovations going on with the pool area it did not effect out stay.

didn't have a reservation; front desk staff was very helpful. Bathroom needed ceiling repairs and sink drained extremely slowly. Breakfast was adequate, though other hotels offer much better breakfasts and room charges are lower....Best Western could do better

We have travelled to Barrie several times and have stayed at different hotels but the Best Western Royal Oak Inn has been the best one yet. Very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Only disappointed was the pool was closed for maintenance. Would definitely return though in the future.

I have stayed in many Best Westerns in the world but non compare to the clean, caring and professional hotel that i just stayed in Barrie. From the front desk personal to the housekeeping , what a well oil machine this hotel is. Do your self a favor if you go to Barrie check out this hotel.

The pool was closed for maintenance with no notice prior to reservation , and this was the only place to go out of the room to enjoy our time . It was really a boring stay . Along with the dirtiness of the room , for example I found a used towel hanging behind my washroom door the moment I stepped in the room which means that the room was never looked at before the new guest arrives . . I would never repeat coming here again and I would never recommend it for anybody. In addition , they don't empty the garbage bins in the room when they do the room service . The sofa bed was broken and was not comfortable to sleep on .

Great staff. Everyone who works there was very friendly and helpful. Pool was out of order which was a pretty big let down but we were able to go to another hotel(10 min drive away) that let us use their pool which was nice.

Nice place to stay at. Staff were very friendly they were doing construction but it was not to bad for noise. The hot breakfast was also good my daughter loved the make your own waffle. We stayed two nights and would definitely stay there again in the future.

Hotel was renovated recently so everything is nice and new. The free hot breakfast has the normal stuff, eggs, some meat item, cereal, yogurt, waffle maker too, Free coffee and tea all day. The bathroom counter is very small and there is never enough lighting. There is limited outlets for all your electronic devices.

We stayed for one night with no complaints. A bit noisy the morning but that is just a lack of courtesy by others. Overall a nice place to stay when visiting Barrie. Hotel a little out of the way from them 400 but not an issue

My daughter and I stayed at the Best Western and had a great time. The staff were very helpful in guiding us to the events that were going on in town and everything was in walking distance. The hotel has been going through renovations and is looking wonderful, the most recent from my last visit is the bright open concept breakfast area. We had a great stay. Thank you to all the staff.

Recently stayed at the Barrie Best Western while visiting family in the city. As soon as I walking in I was greeted by a warm and friendly "welcome" from the front desk manager Arlene. Both Arlene and Brittany were a pleasure to talk to. The girl at the breakfast counter was also very friendly! Stayed in the suite which is enough space for a family of 6. Beds were VERY comfy and sheets were a great texture (not crunchy) and the room was very clean. Would stay again :)

Very comfortable room. Great location and very quiet despite being closed to the highway. Lot's of restaurants nearby and lot's of parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful with our questions and also recommended restaurants in the area. Would recommend this hotel for a stay in Barrie.

I've spent many nights at this Best Western and not only are the rooms well appointed and nicely decorated, they're always very clean. Hot breakfast is included in your stay! I find the staff incredibly dedicated to guest comfort. Always courteous and professional. It's very evident that the work atmosphere for the staff is a positive one and that makes my stay all the more enjoyable. From a business perspective, they have been accommodating when I've used their meeting facilities and help me project a professional atmosphere for my clients/customers.

The hotel is a short drive off Hwy 400 and perfect for travellers. We stayed while renovations were being done, but quite enjoyed the lack of a television in the breakfast room. Our room on the second floor was clean and the bed comfortable. Overall a good stopover. Wifi, however, was sketchy and while my husband persisted after a while I gave up to watch TV. Had the wifi been more reliable this review would have been rated 4-stars, so hopefully it will be addressed and corrected once renovations are complete.

Property was clean, it was a soccer tournament the hotel was fully booked but very quiet. They did have a Security Officer stationed at the main floor. The room rate was fairly high but the accommodations were nice and breakfast was included.

My family and I needed a place to stay for one night while we visited some friends in the area. Staff was welcoming, exterior and entrance seemed new. Hallway to our room was under renovations so workers in the hallway made it a little noisy and dusty with the work being done. Room / bed / bathroom was clean and comfortable. Included a refrigerator and microwave. We did have a little issue with the wifi continually disconnecting after a few minutes, but it could have been our devices. Workout room was small, but efficient and clean. Breakfast was good. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

New breakfast area and decor is terrific. Very nice job. Hotel staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure your stay is smooth. Good value. Only improvement needed is to the Wifi service. Keeps droping

Staff was courteous and accommodating, but the shower was not clean and had mildew. They insisted it had been professionally cleaned, but their housekeeping did clean it after we complained. We were given a night free for our trouble.

Good place to stay, not far off the 400 highway. They are under renovations , so hallways are being updated . Our room had been updated - had 2 queen beds, mattress was great . There was a soccer team staying and around 11:00 p.m. the Security shut the kids down from running up and down the halls, knocking on doors. Thanks. Excellent hotel overall. Its currently under construction so the lobby is a little messy, but overall the place was clean, well maintained and what you would expect out of a mid-tier hotel. The staff were polite for the most part and we didnt have any issues during our 1 day stay.

My Wife and I recently attended an Anniversary in Barrie and spent the night at the Best Western on Hart Drive in Barrie. We knew check-in was from 3:00 pm onward but we arrived earlier than we had expected and it was around 11:00 am. We thought we would see if we could get in and the fantastic clerk did just that for us. It was nice to get freshened up and relax before attending this afternoon event. The check-in was quick, efficient and friendly. Our room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was good and checkout was quick and friendly. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great spot to spend the night in Barrie. If we are back that way again we will definitely stay there again.

Had a queen bed. Very comfortable and lots of pillows. The bathroom is clean and well maintained. Breakfast is plentiful and lots of variety. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful when we asked for directions and restaurant recommendations.

I was traveling with two family members on an unplanned trip and having stayed at best westerns many times in the past few years it is generally a positive experience as was this one. Great place for a quick stay. The hotel was under renovations but we were in the newly renovated part. The staff was friendly and we got 2 room for the price of 1 since there were no rooms available with 2 queen beds.

Although currently doing renovation and upgrades, the hotel was clean and quiet. The room door did have a large gap, but was not an issue. The location suited our purpose and would stay there again without question.

Clean, convenient, comfortable. Tim Horton's one minute away. Near to highway 400. Easy to find. Breakfast was quite satisfactory. Lobby and front entrance improvements taking place. Staff were very friendly and professional.

We stayed at this hotel we love,the Best Western chain found room was very nice we stayed on the main floor so easy access to our car .. all the staff there very friendly breakfast was very good as well they have 24 hour coffee in the lobby would for sure stay there again

Room was clean spacious and comfortable, great value for the money. We had a crib for the baby and a kitchenette in our room, stocked with dishes and soap. Extremely helpful for the little one. Housekeeping was attentive and considerate.

Great price and hotel. They lobby was being re done but we never heard any of the noise and They apologize for the mess. They have a hospital rate. Which was great. My daughter had to be at the hospital for a appointment where she couldn't sleep before and we live a hour and half away so no way a 2 and half month old wouldn't of slept in the car. This hotel was close, clean, great breakfast and bed where good. My mom however found the bed uncomfortable. Would stay again for sure.

The room was OK. The bed was comfortable showerhead good water pressure. The only downside is that it was a little close to the highway so that was a little bit of noise which affected my sleep a little bit.

First time in this hotel. Have been to other hotels in Barrie, this one had a hot tub. Got a great price. Check in was fast and easy. Our room 124 was on the main floor in the rear of the building and you could park right outside your room. The room was newly renovated and very very nice. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We went out until 9:30 pm and when we returned there was another car parked in front of our room. OK parking spaces are not reserved or marked in any way but I really hoped I would not be hearing them in or out that night or in the morning. I know this is not the hotels fault but we could hear our new neighbours as soon as we walked in the hallway. Entering our room it was like they were in the room with us because of the adjoining door. We went straight to the front desk where the desk clerk immediately offered to speak to them. We asked for another room and luckily because the hotel was not full we got a 2nd floor room #204. The room had not been updated but it was still a great room and quiet this time. You can hear the highway traffic and there is a landscape materials storage yard across the street where a few heavy trucks were in and out. The best part was the breakfast included with our room. It had everything and more. I have never seen a make it your self waffle iron.

This hotel is currently under renovations,so take note. Lobby and main floor are being updated. The rooms however are still quite dated. There is no restaurant, however it is centrally located with all kinds of options no more than 10 min drive. The room was clean and quite large. The bed was very comfortable. The only real concern I had was the fact that the walls are very thin and I would hear the other guests speaking, the TV and activity in the halls. If you are a light sleeper, this could be an issue. Overall an average hotel, but quite clean.

Will be glad when construction is done, I know a hotel has to upgrade but it seems like it has been going on forever. Despite all of this the front desk staff are always courteous and helpful and the breakfast lady is one of the reasons we keep going back, she can't do enough for you, especially using the temporary breakfast room

staff were very apologetic about the construction that was underway to replace the entrance and reception area and gave us little gift bags with goodies in appreciation of our patience with reconstruction. Good hot breakfast, Best scrambled eggs ever! Comfortable bed, pillows were too puffy to sleep comfortably on. Very pleasant helpful staff.

Although the lobby was under construction, everything else about our stay was good. The hotel compensated by providing us with a "compliments bags with chips, chocolate bar and 2 water bottles. The room was clean, decorated nicely, and we were able to park directly outside our room.

Needed this break over two days of outdoor education workshops with a local school board. Clean,quiet room, excellent staff with helpful instructions and local area maps, and a great night's sleep. Even the four young hockey teams in for a tournament packed it in early! A very convenient location for anyone doing business in the Barrie area.

we stayed as a very large group in town for a hockey tournament and the staff and security were extremely friendly, helpful and accomodating. Rooms were large, beds and pillows super comphy. Pool was warm.

This hotel is set in downtown Barrie, close to all amenities and has the most comfortable beds in all of Barrie. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the staff are friendly and accommodating, there is a pool and hot tub available as well as free WiFi. We had a very enjoyable stay at a very reasonable price.

This is hotel has a great location, just off Dunlop St. The staff is excellent ,from front desk, to housekeeping to the 2 lovely ladies that run the breakfast room. This hotel had a little pool and hot tub- but does the trick, really nice rooms the best breakfast we had which is included with your room price is the best breakfast we have ever had, we stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly to anyone going to Barrie . Thanks for an awesome 2 night stay .

We needed an inexpensive room for the night - since the BW Royal Oak advertised 'renovated rooms' we chose to stay here. The bathroom was updated, but there were unfinished dry wall holes - had been polyfilled but not painted. The room was spacious enough and the 'headboards' looked new but the wall paper was old, scuffed, ripping, and marked in numerous places. The bed was mediocre at best - definitely not new. When I turned the bed down I wasn't sure it had been changed. The bottom sheet was super wrinkled....But apart from all these small things, the entire hotel wreaks of disinfectant - the lobby, the hallways and our room. For someone with asthma, this pervasive smell made it really hard to breath. I had to use my inhaler. If we ever have reason to be in Barrie again, we would not come back here.

when we go to the Georgian downs casino we stay overnight at the bw in barrie on sunday afternoon we dicided to go to the casino at I booked the bw for a night on sunday july 03 2016 we paid $125.00 tax included which was the normal price we paid for a night . when we go on a multi trip I book with the bw international we went on a casino trip in southern Ontario to fergus walkerton sarnia and final barrie all the prices were acceptable except barrio for Thursday night august 4 2016 at the bw in barrie the price was over $205.00 tax included an increase of over $80.00 or 64% I refused to pay that ripoff price and booked instead with the monti carlo hotel which was next door to the bw at a price for the night of $125.00 tax included that was the last time I will book with the bw in barrie even if it is a good hotel and we enjoyed the nights we stayed at the bw barrie be careful about being ripped off when you book a room

Business trip, late check in, easy process. Room décor was updated/new. Bed was comfy. Met all expectations. Main floor room with patio door was great to transfer luggage to and from the car. Overall the hotel was fine. Did not use the pool. Breakfast was hot, pretty much same as one might expect. Fresh hot coffee and cold juice.

My stay at the Best Western Royal Oak in Barrie Ontario was a very very good experience. The staff was very polite, courteous and very helpful. The overall hotel and room was clean, staff was great. Location is close to everything. Breakfast was good, had everything you could want. Didn't use the gym or pool but it looked ok. Rooms are large enough to accommodate 4 people and the shopping bags :)

We were there for a Wedding it was a very clean hotel and rooms, room was very nice we were on the main floor so we could park right outside our room and had sliding doors to go in and out, The pool and hot tub were nice and relaxing, and the Continental Breakfast was very good lots to chose from. I would stay there again.

Very clean and modern hotel rooms. Staff was very accommodating and very friendly. Felt so much at home that we didn't want to leave! The front staff, and the hot breakfast are all top notch. My favourite part was the make your own waffle station, loved all the different toppings that i had to choose from. The only thing they need to add is whipped cream for the waffle station !! Location was great and we would definitely go there again

Considering the nightly rate for this hotel and the quality Inn was the same; it seemed like a good deal. The room was average size with microwave and mini fridge. The fridge door really needed to be fixed as it was difficult to open. The bathroom was very bright with lit vanity mirror and 6 pot lights. I was pleasantly surprised to see a rainfall shower head in the tub and it was impeccably clean! I've never actually wanted to take a bath in a hotel tub, but this one was spotless! Unfortunately all the updates couldn't fix the paper thin walls and the conversations we could hear not only in the hallway but from the room next to us. Looking on the bright side, being woke up early by the neighbouring rooms talking meant that we could make it to breakfast. The make your own waffle station was great with a large range of toppings however only serving eggs and cold bacon shouldn't clasify it as a hot breakfast. If your looking for quiet you best pick another hotel but if your more concerned about cleanliness and updates then this hotel would get a 5 star.

The highlight of our Games this year was our stay at this hotel. They were kind enough to accommodate my husband's bike, giving us a ground floor room. They hosted all the cyclists, had a room set aside for us all and two of the ladies Amanda and Arlene seemed to be there at all times for everyone, asking how we'd done in our games, etc. The suppers they prepared for us were excellent - best we've had anywhere at such games. The breakfasts were healthy, plentiful and they seemed to be ready for us no matter how early we showed up for breakfast. They handled the numbers in our group with ease and showed interest in our Senior Games events Kudos!.

We went to go see a concert at Casino Rama, and decided this place looked the best choice for the price. when first arriving the lobby was very clean and the check in was very quick had everything ready and only took a couple of mins, when we got to our room it was updated and also very clean along with the bathroom! i would recommend this property to anyone who is looking to stay in the Barrie/Orillia area as it close to the highway and restaurants. All in all it was a great stay oh and the breakfast was to bad either :)

We stayed here for one night. The mattress was very very comfy, the pillow was too soft for me, the room was clean and extremely quiet. Breakfast was pretty good and this hotel is not far off the highway. We would stay here again !!

We've loved the stay! We checked in and payed upfront for 3pm check out. We have been so comfortable and relaxed, we ended up playing hooky and staying for another 2 nights (shhh) but when we wanted to stay a THIRD night, there was no one able to accommodate us. We spoke to a gentleman ( who was very polite) who told us we would have to wait until the female attendant on the next shift to see if we could extend our stay. But the male attendant at that time wasn't able to confirm our late check out-- though he was the one who checked us in and took our prepaid late check out.-- The following attendant was no further help, but still polite; referring us to the manager whom started her shift at 8am on Saturday September 24th 2016. This person was the most rude and unwelcoming voice I've ever come across. She spoke to us like we children getting in trouble at the school Yard. She didn't bother to check if there was any cancations in any of the rooms and sternly told us we must check out at 12pm...though we paid for 3pm. I'm sure we were refunded on our credit card, but having been treated in a such manner; clearly calls for a poor rating. I believe the woman's name was Arlene... don't quote me.... best western barrie, you sure did clean up nice, but work on the edict.... Peace. :)

Service was good. Lack of fresh air in the room was a problem. The air was too dry. not all the jets worked to capacity in the spa, Swimming pool ok, but too small. Staff was very friendly, the location for our purposes was excellent and very convenient to things the city had to offer.

Overall, our impression was good. The hotel is a bit dated, but they are working on updating. The room kind of had a smell to it that wasn't altogether pleasant. The room was large enough, but didn't provide a sitting area. It wasn't quite as close to downtown bars and restaurants as reviews led us to believe, but was only an $8 cab ride. Didn't use the facilities, but the breakfast was pretty good. Any staff we encountered (front desk, cleaning, breakfast area) were all very friendly and accommodating.

Hotel looks like brand new hotel and I was surprised when I heard it was about 25 years. Hotel has updated very will. Room was clean and have comfortable beds and well organised. Hotel has updated very clean and comfortable beds, great breakfast and amazing staff! Great stop over when coming from the North and going to visit Canada's Wonderland. I will definitely be back! If you get a room on the bottom floor you can easily bring suitcases to your room through the patio door. They have a Keurig coffee machine and some delicious cookies and fruit available at breakfast. You can't beat the price, very impressed.

The hotel was clean, the service was excellent. The place was close to my work destination so it was easy to get there in the morning and back at night. Beds are comfortable and they offer a microwave and fridge which is greatly appreciated on long business stays. I would stay again.

Only used as a base as was visiting family. Didn't use any of the facilities. Rooms were decent size and beds were comfortable., and clean. Very welcoming on arrival. Had a car so managed to get out each day and took a walk on a couple of the nights we were there. Beautiful surroundings.

Standard hotel with a reasonable cost. Rooms were a good size and clean. Breakfast was supplied each morning and was quite good. Pool was available, clean and towels were provided. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for your money.

My husband and I recently booked a Jacuzzi room. Check in and out was pleasant and quick, staff very friendly. Room was on the third floor, was very clean, QUIET and comfortable. I never heard any noise from the third floor. The breakfast the following morning was more than we had expected and was actually tasty. Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in the area. The only complaint I have but it is out of the hotels hands is the way other people park. When I got back to the hotel at about 10pm the parking was limited and spots were a little tight.

I stayed one night on business. The staff were very friendly and gave me some great ideas for restaurants and tips on where to park, so that I could haul my luggage into room by the shortest way possible.The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The complimentary breakfast, was one of the better ones I've had. My only complaints were that the carpets and hallways of the hotel are starting to get banged up and show thetr age. In addition the vest in the washroom was a little dusty.

This is a decent hotel, with good amenities.. an indoor pool, hot tub, great breakfast, decent rooms.. but unfortunately the walls between adjoining rooms are paper thin. We could hear everything our neighbors were saying.. and by everything I mean everything! Even calling the front desk to complain did little to rectify the situation.. the neighbors turning the music off only helped clarify the sound of their conversations. I eventually discovered the majority of the sound came through the paper thin door that connects adjoining rooms.. these doors need some serious upgrades with better sound proofing technology. Fixing this problem should be the #1 priority in their 2017 strategic plan.

Great location very central in Barrie, lots of shopping,great restaurants and a beautiful waterfront park. It is only a 45 minute drive to Wonderland. Spent 3 nights here with my 2 sisters in a 2 bedroom room and we had a great time. Staff was friendly and rooms were clean. Beds were super comfy.

We had a small 3 day trip to Barrie and chose the Best Western for its value, we stayed in the family room. It was clean and perfect for 4 teenagers and 2 adults. The free breakfast satisfied everyone which can be difficult. The kids enjoyed the pool and adults were great full for hot tub. It's located close to Hwy nod down town. Only down fall I would state is not in the prettiest area for sure.

I had a great stay at the best western in Barrie. Not only did they accommodate me with an overly spacious room and very last minute, but the room had extra towels, the air was already on and it was nice and cool. Very clean and well maintained. There is a wonderful young man that works on the evenings that was very helpful and directed me around town to the places I needed to go since I'm not from Barrie. A wonderful woman named Arlene booked the room for me and she made sure my stay was perfect. Thank you for a great stay once again, Best Western!

This Best Western is nice and clean. (Perhaps too clean because some of the halls smelled like lysol.) We were only here for one night on the way home from a vacation, but turned out to be a very pleasant night.

So many great things to say about our recent stay at the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was sufficient, tasty and was exactly what a team of 9/10 year olds would want to eat in the morning. The pool was clean and was a hit with the boys. The location was right off the 401 and made getting to the rinks and local restaurants easy to get to. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating to our requests. Our hotel contact Amanda A was great and helped to make our weekend a success!

The staff are very friendly. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The rooms have a fridge and are spacious. Free WiFi and parking. A 10 minute walk to downtown. Good bang for your buck in Barrie.

Stayed at the Best Western in Barrie Canada, for a wedding I must say my stay was excellent the room was spacious, very clean and updated, for an added bonus they give you hot breakfast every morning, I will definitely stay at Best Western again.

Stayed here while cycling up to Victoria Harbour. Near Hwy 400, short bike ride to center of town and waterfront; fantastic Kawarthas Ice Cream shop one block away around the corner, across from that if a great pub called Tiffs. Very clean hotel. Rates reasonable and include hot breakfast, was ok. Rooms nice and large, beds are comfortable, pillows are fine and the shower was good. Iron and Ironing board in wardrobe, Crummy tv remote has no guide so you must flip through all channels to find the one you want, oh life can be tough. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. Very good hotel for cyclists as you can bring your bikes into your room. Would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here on many occasions. Always nice and clean. The hotel was doing some renovations when I stayed here last but it did not interfere with any of the amenities. The beds are comfortable and having a fridge and microwave is a bonus. Pool is great for the family.

Bath tub and sink didn't drain properly, floors seemed dirty or stained...breakfast not worth the extra money they build into the room cost....better off just going to Tim Horton's down the street...can't say i recommend

Staff were not friendly or interested in guest service. House keeping tried to enter my room before checkout time. Breakfast facilities are run down though food is decent - rest of facility outside of the rooms is also run down. Shower leaked all over the floor although it was a nice new shower.

This was not my first choice in Barrie, but the two or three I preferred were fully booked. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we were very impressed with this hotel. The room was beautiful and the service very friendly. This will be our preferred Barrie hotel on our next visit.

My sisters and I stayed at the Royal Oak Best Western from June 14-16, 2016. We booked a room with 2 queen size beds. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. There was a mini fridge and microwave in the room. Parking and WIFI were free, and the room rate included breakfasts for the 3 of us. Other motels we were considering booking only included breakfasts for 2 people per room. The breakfasts were good. They continued to put fresh eggs, sausages and pastries out until 10 AM. The bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated. It was modern and spacious and had good lighting. Every employee we met smiled and wished us a pleasant stay. They were all friendly and very helpful. The location was ideal, close to both Hwy 400 and downtown Barrie. Our only negative was the thinness of the walls between rooms. We could hear the guests in the adjacent rooms. However, the noise died down by 10 PM so it did not affect the quality of our sleep. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate recommending the Royal Oak to fellow travelers.

Everyone at the Best Western has treated our visiting artists wonderfully. We had guests staying there during an ice storm, and staff maintained order despite intermittent power outages and raging weather outside. We really appreciate everyone there!

Always love going to the Royal Oak Inn, you feel very welcome from the minute you check in through breakfast until you leave. The breakfast room attendant who has been there for quite a while just makes having breakfast there very special, she is so on top of everything, there is never anything you have to ask for. We have stayed here many many times, gone through their renovations etc. A day would recommend this hotel, absolutely.

I found an empty milk container in the bathtub. The room was good and very homey. After staying in Best Western all across the United States, when I got to Barrie I was told I had missed the check-in the night before. I tried to explain why would I miss a night. I was told that since I scheduled my stay through Best Western Central Booking, that they could not help me. Oh well, I thought I could get some help, but it was my fault, I did not have internet service to read my reservations confirmation from the Barrie Hotel. They were very understanding, but could not help me.

This is in convenient location for visiting the area. close to highway400 but couldn't hear any traffic at all. Appears in need of decoration but this did not affect our stay. staff friendly and helpful. room clean. comfy bed. Good complimentary. breakfast.

Very nice place to stay...clean, breakfast was good. Lots of pillow choices and a god size...not like some chains that the pillows are the size a a throw pillow for your couch. Excellent height of toilet...not the usual small person size.

This is an absolute gem!!! The beds are so comfortable, the front desk staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. I loved my stay here. PERFECT!!!! Even the hot/cold breakfast is delicious, eggs were cooked perfect, not dry. They even have to go breakfast bags for those on the go!!! Thank you and I will see you again in two weeks!!!

Since I drive a Tesla it's important to me that I be able to charge overnight where I stay and I thank BW for making this available. Unfortunately however they only have one EV spot, it's not well marked and it's generally filled with a non-EV - so, if you want to charge you can park in the fire route (the cord will reach). So Best Western, you're doing so much right, please consider putting better markings on your one EV parking spot designating it for Electric Vehicles only and enforce it.

From check in to check out the staff was amazing, very helpful and informative. The hotel is clean and well taken care of. Great pool and hot tub for a relaxing evening. The breakfast had something for everyone - from hot scrambled eggs and bacon to cereal and yogurt. Highly recommended!

No complaints, good value. I arrived at 1 a.m., and there was no one on the front desk. Took 10 minutes before she came back. Other than that a perfect night was had. She was probably the only employee on site at that time.

since our last visit there has some renovations done there is only one problem there is still no bath mat in the bath tub when you have a shower the floor of the tub is still slippery I metntioned this to the front desk and she recommended that when you book the room request a bath mat be placed in the bath tub a simple solution solution to a possible sjip and fall

We had the privilege of staying at the Best Western Royal Oak Inn this past weekend while in town for a family wedding. The decor was updated & modern, and our room was clean & fresh. Both of the front desk staff members assisting us were absolutely wonderful, and the housekeepers were friendly, efficient & courteous. We were wary of the "free hot breakfast", as you don't always know how it will turn out, but both mornings were absolutely amazing -- lots of variety and very fresh. The pool & hot tub were lovely as well. If your travels bring you to Barrie, do yourself a favour and book your accommodations here. You will not be disappointed!

I'm usually pretty confident with the Best Western chain and this location did not disappoint. As my first time staying there, I was pleased by how modern and clean this hotel was. My boyfriend and I stayed in the King suite and were very impressed with the size of our room and the accommodations provided. We were glad to add this hotel to our very short list of our favourite places to stay.

Elements of this hotel suggest it is dated (furniture etc.) They are updating. Yet what a difference Brittany and Arlene make at the desk - so welcoming and positive in their relations with clients. My wife and I have stayed several times for a combination of business and family. We will stay again. People make a difference and lift spirits even when snow falls in late April!

I went to Barrie, ON to visit family and because of the wonderful experience I had the last time at the Best Western I decided to return. I was not disappointed . The same friendly staff and nice, modern clean rooms. I recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the area

We stayed overnight to visit my sister-in-law. The hotel was close to her apartment and handy to the highway and services. There was no highway noise. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub. We would stay there again.

I'm glad I chose Best Western out of the 5 hotels available in the area. The service was really great and friendly. The room was really clean, and the BED ... OH THE BED, WAS SUPER COMFORTABLE! We had an amazing SLEEP, it was literally like a sleeping on the luxury bed! The breakfast was amazing too! Eggs were perfectly cooked, sausage was delicious, coffee was amazing! Everything you need to feel at home away from home was here. Thank you Best Western! We're definitely staying here again when we need another place to stay :)

We stayed for 1 night. The staff is excellent, the room was excellent. The breakfast was horrible. We were in town for a funeral & needed a hearty breakfast but it was anything but. Paper plates that leak, plastic utensils & paper cups. Scrambled eggs (not fresh eggs) & sausage was the only hot (warm) food that was offered. Bagels, cereal or toast. Not enough selection compared to other best westerns I've stayed at in Ontario. We've stayed in many Best Western but this one is at the bottom of my list. Will never go back.

I made reservations and changed it 2 times. Then day of arrival I changed again. We were accommodated without attitude or fuss. When we arrived our room was upgraded to family suite at no extra cost. The room was clean with lots of pillows. The breakfast was good. The eggs were soft and bacon was good. Favourite: make your own waffles. I would stay again with pleasure. I can't even come up with 1 thing I didn't like. It was perfect.

Our family just stayed here for a hockey tournament and paid a little extra to book a 3 bed suite. Well worth the extra money with 2 teenagers. Two queen beds in separate room and one queen in main room along with kitchenette (fridge, hot plate, counter, sink, dishes etc), small table, 4 chairs and a bench. Room was clean, modern decor, with comfortable beds and nice bedding. Handy to have a kitchenette and small fridge/freezer (bigger than a mini fridge). Pool is very small and I dipped my toe in (nice and warm) but didnt swim as there were tons of little kids in and out of the pool (personal issue). Hotel charges 175 for meeting room which is very small with long tables, chairs and a tv. Hockey parents who like to "congregate" would not find this a great option. I would think booking an extra team suite for parents at a cheaper rate and adding it to the team cost of the tourney would have made sense. Nice and helpful staff, great to have breakfast included (and it had a good variety). I would return here to stay. A strong 3/4 rating in most areas.

Hello: Our kitchenette family suite is very popular with families as it allows you some privacy and cooking abilities. It is fully stocked and has a larger refrigerator for everyday needs. Thank you for enjoying the room as it has been newly renovated. Our pool/spa is small, but heated, clean, well loved and perfect for a leisurely dip. Our corporate meeting room is used by hockey teams every weekend and is always an option submitted to each team leader. Majority of our teams love the meeting room as it contains a flat screen television, table , chairs and a long counter space to place food on. It is located just off the main lobby and is easy accessible to parents and children with washrooms just outside the doors. It is conveniently located nearby the highway and close to Downtown Barrie. The reception is very helpful and friendly. The double room I booked has two queen size beds - suitable for 4 adults (regular sized). Good breakfast buffet. I would stay with this hotel again for the price I paid.

I am responsible for making hotel arrangements for our church when we have guest speakers coming for Sunday services. When making these reservations for our guest speaker for the Easter weekend (which is inevitably an extremely time of the year), the Best Western Royal Oak Inn was the perfect location. The reservation clerk was very welcoming and accommodating to our wishes and immediately put me at ease and took care of all the arrangements, especially when I needed to call back after several days to make an adjustment to the number of nights needed. I was treated like I was the most important person in her day. Our guests were very pleased with their room with its appearance and comfort, and were very appreciative of the wonderful complimentary breakfast provided each morning. We will definitely use Best Western Royal Oak Inn for future needs.

We have been staying at this hotel for years now. They have recently undergone renovations, which have greatly improved comfort and quality of stay. We have always had excellent relationships with staff. The hotel is clean and comfortable.

When booking the only availability was a Jacuzzi suite. I decided although $200 was above my price limit for one night, I would treat myself. When I arrived to the hotel, the staff member was very polite. When we arrived to our room there was about 8 kids leaning along the wall and over our door. With another 10 or so skateboarding and hovering down the small hallway (it was packed). We immediately went to the front desk where we were informed, all floors will be like this. So the staff accompanied us up to our room and temporarily cleared the floor. We went in our room and immediately heard the kids come out again. We wanted to negotiate a lower rate for this awful experience. When we were informed there was no manager on duty. The breakfast girl kept the breakfast area spotless and always full! Lacking in customer service.

This was my first time staying at Best Western Royal Oak Inn in Barrie, Ontario. I'm a frequent traveler to Barrie for business purposes and decided to stay at a Best Western for a change. The service was excellent upon check in and the staff was most helpful when answering my questions about nearby amenities. The rooms are tidy, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is great. The pool was small and full of children, but that's to be expected during the March break. This also explains why the floor of the shower near the pool had candy on it. The fitness area is in need of new flooring as the carpet is dated. This hotel is currently undergoing renovations which I noticed upon arrival. During my stay, I noticed that the parking lot would fill up quickly in the evening, so much so that I was required to park at a Flower shop next door during one night. Overall, my experience at this hotel was very good and I would return in the future.

Had to change rooms twice. First time tried to call front desk to report food crumbs on carpet when I checked in but phone didn't work. Then moved to an "executive suite" and couldn't sleep past 5 am due to all the noise coming from the highway adjacent to the hotel. Had to change rooms again. Breakfast mediocre--fake eggs and sausage. Pool water green but open when I checked in, then sign posted saying it was closed. Elliptical machine not working in "fitness center" that had 3 pieces of equipment in it.

The staff are very helpful with the booking process. We are frequent business travellers to this hotel and area in Barrie, Ontario and we don't even consider another hotel. In fact, when I am in the area for personal reasons, I also choose this same hotel. The staff are great!

I stayed 2 days with my daugther for my son's graduation in Borden. This hotel was the perfect stay. Rooms are super clean, breakfast is good, the beds are very comfortable. We surely recommend. The mini fridge and microwave oven were very useful in the room. We were 30 minutes from Borden. Very easy to find and we were 10 minutes from the shopping centres. Also, there are many restaurants around. My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay.

This was a one night for business. I would say it was a good experience. I had a room on ground floor. Internet was great. Didn't really like the fact there were some people walking past the windows in the room so had to keep the curtains pulled for privacy. The main floor hallway seemed a little busy, people walking past with equipment and so on. Could also hear the person in the room above walking around (a lot). I should have asked for a room on an upper level. My fault. I have stayed in a number of other BW's, I would say this one seemed just a bit off overall (could have seemed a bit cleaner as a whole), but it was OK.

Hello J: Our ground floor access rooms are very popular with our guests. There is a high volume of guests on the first floor at any given time and it can be a little busy. Upon your next visit please request the second floor or perhaps a stay in one of our executive rooms on a higher level. Please do not book this hotel for any stays especially group stays...not accommodating at all...have stayed at many others and this is by far the worst stay ever!!!!!! Many problems and no staff on site to assist with problems just a front desk clerk and to back up manager to call...asked for a room so we could have a team meeting wanted to charge us $175 for a very small meeting room with only some tables and chairs. Also no parking when we came back from dinner. Very Very disappointing for all!!!!

Hello Anne: Groups are a large part of Best Western and many weekends we do encounter more then one group. Our meeting room is used mainly for corporate business and therefore we must keep that room maintained at all times. Unfortunately there is a cost to use the room as all teams are aware upon booking. My staff works very hard at accommodating all guests during their stay and occasionally they have to step away from the desk. Stayed here on a Friday night as we were passing through town. The rooms were clean but dated. The breakfast was good in the morning, that was a nice touch. The hotel is just off the highway which is convenient. The checkin was quick and uneventful. The pool is smaller and was packed with kids but not surprised on a friday night. The hot tub was under maintenance for the night, not the best time for this, but hoping it was an emergency and not planned. Not sure if it was just lots of people or what but the internet was very slow. I would stay here again if the price was right.

Loved our experience staying at this hotel. Everyone was lovely, accommodating, and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!! Rooms were clean and warm, breakfast was delicious and lots of variety, and the kids loved the pool!!! Awesome!!!

The staff at this hotel were amazing and very helpful. Breakfast is good and the room was nice. the only problem with the room was there were stains on the couch. The rest of the room was beautifully clean including the bathroom. The only other downfall was our window looked at a brick wall. However, they did give us an early check in, so they switched rooms…Take the good with the bad. Overall I think it is a great place to stay and the service is amazing. My battery died in my car and the staff were right there to help. Thank you again.

Very satisfied with the best western. The service was excellent and staff very friendly. they supplied free internet service and a full free breakfast which included all food groups. We stayed at the Barrie hotel on Hart St.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable! the motel is very accessible from the 400 and easy to find! I would recommend it to anyone staying long or short term! I am on my third week and am treated like family.

Very pleased with the hotel and the staff. Rooms were spacious and gave us lots of privacy. Kitchen was great! Although we were late for breakfast, the girl who worked there provided us with what we asked for without rushing us to leave.

The room size was large which was good. The bed were not bad for comfort level. However, cleanliness is an issue. When I arrived in my room, there was hair on the pillow that was obviously not mine since I had not even sat on the bed yet. The walls were full of marks and stains that should have been wiped off. The floors squeak loudly when walked on. When inside the room, you can hear every foot step above you, ever conversation in the rooms next to you and in the halls. If you are looking for quiet to sleep, this is not the hotel for you. The TV continuously cuts out and looses signal. It happened every single day of my extended stay. As for the fitness center...it is small with only three pieces of equipment, two of which do not work. There is an ATM, but do not count on getting money out of it as it has been out of service for some time. Oh...and hopefully you do not get up early and require assistance from the front desk because no one answers the phone. This would indicate a definite security issue as obviously they do not mind leaving the lobby unattended.

The front desk does their best to make sure the hotel is safe at all times. Generally if there is no answer at the front desk they have stepped away briefly for various reasons. This hotel was used for a weekend stay and from beginning to end it was a great stay. Check-in and check-out was helpful, fast and organized. The room was quiet, clean, the WiFi (internet) connection was quick, the decor of the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. In addition, the outside grounds was clean and easy to park especially with the snow that came down. The breakfast had plenty of bacon/sausage, bagels, waffles and yogurt with coffee and juices which was fresh and fine but some suggestions I have are: an improved menu with some fruit and the breakfast room needed some updated tables, chairs and decor. The hotel proximity to Highway 400 is convenient and not to far of a drive (under 10 minutes) to Ski Snow Valley in Barrie. Lastly, the customer service I received was excellent from front desk, housekeeping and the service at breakfast. I would stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at the best western with my family and we really enjoyed our stay. We felt at home. Staff were very friendly and always making sure we had everything we may need. The rooms were very clean and modern. I was very impressed and would recommend this hotel to all that are traveling to the Barrie area.

Really enjoyed the stay at this hotel. Very friendly staff. Room was perfect as well as the hot tub. Breakfast was great. Very reasonable on the room price and is a great location. Ground floor rooms have an outside sliding door for people who still smoke.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Oak Inn for the 3 nights of our honeymoon (in the king suite). The place was clean, well kept, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was very friendly...all for a reasonable price. We would definitely stay again.

We just spent a weekend in this hotel with our hockey team. It was a clean and the free breakfast was very good. Very modern and the bathroom was new, in fact the whole hotel looked good. It was central to all our games. We booked 11 rooms with parents and boys (16 and 17year old). The only complaint was they put our group in an area where they booked other guests in between our rooms. We were constantly telling our boys to keep it down. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and water temperature good. I would return to this hotel.

They charged us for a broken TV that we did NOT break - $700 bill to our credit card with NO warning what so ever. Trying to deal with them is a no go - General Manager won't listen to any reason and refused to return calls for weeks. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL

The service of the staff was excellent. The pool was a nice temperature and very clean areas. The room was a good size and our bathroom was like brand new. The only complaint I have is a personal one. The pillows are too soft so you need a few for each person and the bed was a bit hard for me, but I would highly recommend this hotel.

I've stayed here a bunch of times and it never disappoints. Now it is just better looking. They've done a reno and it's really nice. It's easy to find, parking is easy, breakfast is included, wifi is free it's great for travelling though. Not much of a place to walk from. The beds are comfy and the showers are hot. I'd stay here again.

Newly renovated room which was tastefully done. Fresh and clean and comfortable. Front desk dude was friendly and helpful! Wifi free and fast. Bed was so comfy! Would totally stay again. I have stayed before in the past and this was a way better experience I feel like it had been renovated since my last stay. Easy HWY access. We did not have the free breakie that was included...only because we wanted Cora;s!
