The roos are clean, bed comfortable . Small breakfast area. Microwave only and cold cereals and fruit. Made to order pancakes if wanted but located next door to shops if free meal not enough. You can go there and pay for a better hot breakfast.
This hotel is just off I-5. (We had spent the day in Carrizo Plains National Monument). It is a nice facility with a couple of fast food and one restaurant nearby. The BW breakfast was good with some non-typical options which we enjoyed. The staff were nice and helpful. One wing of the hotel is immediately parallel to the I-5 fence and travel lanes, which is where we stayed as these were the pet rooms and we have a small dog. It was noisy (truck traffic all night) but I slept OK with earplugs. Bed and room was comfortable, but could have used some touch up painting.
I was heldover for 3 days in Bakersfield due to problems with my vehicle. Both the hotel and the staff were wonderfully accommodating and made what would have been an unpleasant experience into pleasant one.
I'm not sure I have ever stayed in a place this filthy! We stopped for the night while moving from AZ to OR. The whole area is repulsive. The flies are terrible! They were in the room and took us most of the next day to get them out of our truck. The attached photo is of the cloth I cleaned my feet with after walking on the hotel floor. I had shoes and socks on all day before walking on the floor. It appeared the floor in the room hadn't been mopped in months. There was dirt on the bathroom wall around the noisy exhaust fan. The refrigerator rocked a full four inches. The highway noise is significant - not a fault of the hotel, just a note for prospective travelers. There also was a significant stench in the outside air. We slept a few hours and got up at left a 5:30 AM because we were grossed out, putting on shoes just to visit the bathroom.
This Best Western was very disappointing. It was 'cleanish',but not as clean as it should have been. When we checked in we were informed that there was no water at all due to maintenance . We had to wait almost 3 hours to get water in the toilet and shower. An e mail or text about this issue would have been appreciated. High speed internet is advertised; it is actually no reliable internet. This location is not much more than a truck stop and should be advertised as such. We were supposed to spend another night here on out return trip. Needless to say, we cancelled our reservation and made one at another hotel.
The room smelled and had dirty floors upon arrival. The towels were poor quality also. During the night we were kept awake by loud guests upstairs and drunk people outside our room. This 'Inn' should be called a motel.
Stopped here unexpectedly as it was getting late. Was extremely surprised by how nice the staff was, as well as how clean the room was. Being so close to freeway was convenient and I didn't hear any sounds from cars/trucks passing by. Great place to stop when you need to get a good night's sleep.
The front desk staff were especially nice, both with the check-in on Sunday, Sept. 25, & with the check-out on Mon., Sept. 25, 2023. The room was surprisingly quiet, especially considering the motel is right off of I-5 & next to a truck stop. It was also very, very clean & well made up. The staff at the nearby IHOP were very nice also.
Awesome place. We always stay at this exact location not only bc it's easy getting off and on the I 10 but the room they put me in is always clean and ready early. I always book online in advance. Just great place Staff is always nice
You are likely using this like us, as a stop-off after a long drive on I-5, and it does its job well. Yes, its a highway side Best Western, but its clean, budget friendly, has an efficient checkin, a well lit parking lot, a well lit and welcoming lobby (and staff), and includes a continental breakfast with options beyond just sugary carby stuff (hard boiled eggs, yogurt, jimmy dean stuff). A+ for us.
Nice place to stay. And clean that's what's matters. Staff was friendly. They allowed early check in and late check out. Not a lot of noise. Pool was closed but wasn't a big deal. I would def stay here again as usual. And it's right off the highway which is nice
After a long day of driving with our dogs, this was a great place to stop for the night. The room was wonderful, except the floors are obviously not cleaned often. Our white socks were not white very long! Otherwise, it was very good.
The room was minimal at best…the bed was comfortable but the floors were filthy, as I'm not moped in months filthy. Breakfast was minimal at best and up to BW standards.I would not recommend this motel unless all you need is a clean bed to sleep in.
Living north of San Francisco. We are now in our 70's and can only drive about 5 - 6 hours due to back and neck issues. We have relatives and friends in Southern CA so make the trip usually once or twice a year. We had stayed in Buttonwillow in the past but found this BWHeritage Inn and after reading reviews, booked it. We were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the fruit in the lobby welcoming, and the accommodations absolutely adequate, clean (one item needed attention and has been addressed by management) and comfortable. Nice pool. Continental breakfast that at least gets you out the door and on the road .. I've seen better and I've seen worse. Altogether a good experience for us. Salads at Jack were great! Learned that the rooms parallel to the highway get a vibration when trucks use offramp/overpass. Rooms with backs facing south no vibration (I'm a VERY light sleeper!). We will be back and thanks.
The hotel is a quick off ramp away from the interstate. It seems to have a nice pool, however I haven't used it yet. Their breakfast in mostly a cold grab and go but it works if you're wanting to hit the road early. The rooms are okay, need some paint and new furniture but if it's just a stopover, it works. Check in and out was fast and easy.
The hotel was fairly clean and the staff was pretty friendly. The only complaint I have is that the beds were not my favorite and the pillows slid all over the bed making sleep hard for me. We had business in the area and drove past a nearby feed lot. I'm not a crazy peta activist but the condition of these feed lots are deplorable. The odor coming into the hotel lot and rooms was enough to burn your nostrils and singe your eyes. This is not the hotels fault. The conditions those cattle were kept in was deplorable and cruel. Imagine if you can smell the filth from over a mile away what the actual pen must smell like. Local businesses should step up and do something for everyone's sake including the cattle.
If you enjoy the fresh smell of cow manure you will love this place. They need to do something to keep the odor out of the rooms. Also, the curtains need to close, the room I was in the curtains would not close so I had to put up with the parking lot lights all night.
We stayed at this little roadside hotel because I didn't feel comfortable driving into Bakersfield at night, even though the city would've had cheaper options. Parking lot is very well lit, we felt very safe. Room was spacious and felt very clean, beds were comfortable. The older lady at the check-in was very kind, she even cracked a few jokes with us. Breakfast was great, lots of options..scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, yoghurt.. they even offered us pancakes, something there for everyone. Breakfast area was small but looked modern and clean. Can only recommend this hotel and their very nice staff.
Unfortunately they missed the mark in most every thing that makes a one night stay a place to come back to. Noise, smell, exterior was not to clean, check in was not accurate. We will look for another hotel next time we travel in this area.
Perfectly adequate motel, handily situated just off the freeway but traffic noise not too intrusive. Standard breakfast fayre was included in the rate and was welcome. The bed was pristine and comfortable, nice easy chair and a good sized TV but very limited channels. Internet was fairly responsive, strangely better on iPhone than iPad. Only concern was after walking barefoot from the shower to the bed, my feet were black, meaning that the floor hadn't been mopped for some time. This was quickly remedied but I would advise keeping your moon boots on until you check it out.
This is a roadside hotel next to I-5 in the central valley. It was a convenient place to stop on our roadtrip for the night. The freeway noise quieted down about 11:00pm and I was able to sleep without it being a nuisance. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, LPV flooring and modern decor.
They could not assure two highly disabled travelers that a first floor room was available even with a same day earlier reservation. The rooms at arrival were a first floor (no steps) disabled access room. We took a chance an luckily succeeded. This lack of confidence was frankly disturbing and should not be a possibility with a large Hotel chain like Best Western!
I highly recommend this hotel as it is really quiet for being on the freeway. The pool is as spotless as the rooms. The front desk is friendly, courteous and helpful. We have stayed here several times and we can always count on it.
Be ready for birds as there were a lot of them. Room was clean and convenient to the freeway. Check in employee was nice. Would stay again. There is a 200 character minimum for reviews. Clean, pigeons
For the purpose of a near-Hwy5 overnight stop, this hotel was fine. It was clean and staff was nice, but it's really at a turnoff that is just a truckstop. It's not far from Bakersfield (we visited the next day), but for TA to actually categorize it as a "Bakersfield Hotel" is a bit of a stretch. There is an excellent Indian restaurant at the next highway exit (only a few minutes drive), but nothing at this stop except the lowest fastfood.
Quiet and safe place, rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast include with good choice of food and drinks. Special mention to Nessa at front office, very helpful and friendly. Recommand this hotel.
The property is located in the center part of the city. We had a great room, located directly off the outside staircase. It also had a small balcony. The room was comfortable and fairly large. There was a nice area to walk pet ($25 pet fee). Due to staff shortages, the breakfast was a take away with a few different menu items. Staff were all wearing masks. When I booked the room, I thought I was booking directly through the hotel. Instead I was routed via phone to Reservation Support [Reservations@lodging.support]. Unfortunately, they charged a lot more than if I had booked through the hotel or Best Western. They also told me there was no pet fee. The next day, I tried to reach them by phone to ask about the charges, I was never able to reach anyone and no one ever returned my call. This was no reflection on the hotel, but just be careful not to book through this third party.
Exit right from the 5 freeway. Good price for one night. Beds are clean as well as the room, big room's. Breakfast was good because it can be to go. They had fresh eggs and potatoes, cereal, coffee and juice,
We stayed at the Best Western Heritage Inn for a quick overnight stay for an event the next day. It was definitely better than the other motel down the road, while a little closer, isn't as much of a value as Best Western. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly, and there was a nice breakfast in the morning. We will definitely stay here again.
I had set my expectations somewhat low for this hotel given some of the reviews. However, we were very pleased with our room and the service. Yes, there was a grab and go breakfast but it was substantial with yogurt, granola bar, breakfast sandwich and a bottle of water. There was fruit, coffee and juice available in the lobby as well. The room was very clean, well lit, and a comfortable size. The beds were very comfy. The staff was friendly and efficient. The only negative is the limited dining options near by. But we were aware of that before we selected this hotel. There is a Subway, Jack in The Box and a taco truck all within walking distance.
For the price I expected something a little nicer, felt like I was staying at $80 motel. Next time I'll drive a little further and spend a little more but have more than just a cheap room. Convenient that it's next to the freeway but nothing else really around.
This Best Western seemed newly renovated and was very comfortable. Very clean, all amenities in operating order, bed comfy, including very plush pillows and medium firm mattress. Breakfast was grab-and-go and you must request and pick up at front desk. The only reason for my four star and not a five is internet service. My experience was not good, very slow. Perhaps the ISP should be switched out? Note that front desk personalities are a mixed bag at this location. My check in person was dour and indifferent. The check out person was very friendly, helpful and warm. Go figure.
Our stay at this hotel was surprisingly very good with friendly, professional staff and clean well appointed room. I was especially pleased with the hard surface floor rather than the usual carpeting. The hard surface was clean and you never know what you are really walking on with carpeting.
After sitting 15+ hours in traffic due to i-5 detours (Grapevine frozen), this was the only available hotel near Bakersfield. Probably because their water pressure was zero, but they told me this on the phone beforehand and gave me a discount - so it served my needs almost perfectly. But the Wifi was spotty.
Pulled off of highway in need of some sleep. Their staff is very friendly and the room was remarkably clean. I was pleasantly surprised.....but...this area of town has an odor that mixes ammonia, cow dung and fertilizer. Nasty. There is also a population of around 1,000 pigeons that live on the roof of the IHOP. RUN to room, lock the door and enjoy your stay.
Stayed at a lot of different hotels over the last year due to work. This one by far was the nicest and cleanest hotel I have been in. Everything I needed was in the room. The room was extremely cleaned and sanitized and very well set up. Definitely would recommend this hotel if you are in the area and need a place to stay.
Room was very dusty, there was a blood stain on the sheets. And there was a lot of flies and little bugs in the room. Will not be staying in this location again. I didn't let the staff know only because it was bearable and I was too tired to go through the hassle of switching rooms. I just wish it was cleaner.
In the middle of a long road trip from Seattle to San Francisco to Seattle and back to Seattle, this overnight stay at this Best Western was well worth the value, especially for resting and re-energizing. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional, most notably the manager, Kavi Patel! The room was very clean, and my family was able to get a good night's rest! I will definitely return to this particular Best Western, if we ever road trip to Los Angeles again.
We were not able to connect our television to internet even after attendent came to room to reset still wouldn't work! We gave up trying to get our tv to work. The fan in our bathroom was broken also.Hotel had a decent breakfast substitute for being covid.
Great customer service. Nice and clean. Military discount was a plus. A day after check out I realized I forgot my iPad. I called and not only was it turned into the office they are mailing it to my destination!
I feel this hotel was cleaned properly and well. Great place if traveling with a pet. They charge a reasonable fee of $20.00 for the night. Also provide a nice grassy area for your pet. They offer a very hearty grab & go breakfast.
They made check-in very easy, had great recommendations for dinner and the rooms were very accommodating. They went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The management and staff were amazing. I would highly recommend!!
Room was filthy, both landline phones did not work, mattress was collapsed had severe back pain upon waking up. All I had on my bed in January is two sheets in a very thin blanket apparently all their rooms are like that. The heater worked but I have lung issues and couldn't turn it up high enough to keep warm and still be able to breathe. There was spit in the sink and toilet paper in the toilet. Coffee maker did not work. And I wasn't told what time check out was so I tried to call the front desk. Both landline phones not only filthy but didn't work. Desk was filthy, the remote was in a bag that said this is a clean remote but after looking at the room I even doubt that. When I called the front desk from my iPhone to tell them about the phones not working they wanted to come and fix them and I was already in a filthy room as it was I did not want another person in that room. I cannot drive at night and that was the only pet room available so my choices were very limited. $142 for this room way overrated. I should've looked for a Motel 6 I probably would've gotten a better room.
Freeway friendly with food gas and safety. Found this place by chance and return when working in the vicinity. Onsite laundry facility makes convenient for extended stays. Easy park & go for early morning work days.
Great check-in experience. It was two days before thanksgiving and I was concerned because I had not made a reservation. I got there early enough, though, and was able to get a great room on the bottom floor. My room was spacious. The shower was perfect. And, the bed was amazing after a long drive. Thanks for the breakfast in the bag in the morning! I'll definitely be returning.
We were very pleased with our two night stay here back in early October. The service was great from check in to check out. In room coffee was premium brand. Breakfast bags were a pleasant surprise with the right mix of healthy foods along with a pastry. Clean and spacious rooms. Best value out of all the nights we stayed on this two week trip! Thanks Kavi and staff!
Nothing flashy or fancy, your basic roadside motel. A decent, seemingly safe place to spend the night, especially with a police station nearby. Could use a good cleaning and pest control though. The frig didn't work to good but expect for a place like this. Lots of truck parking nearby.
I give this hotel a 9/10 or an "A-". It was easy to find and east to access. However, when we got in, the young lady at the desk did not recognize that I am an Elite Reward Program Member. She thanked me for my continued loyalty after I brought it up. Still, that's a detail that's important to travelers like me who have plenty of options to choose from. Pros about this hotel are that the location is nice - right off I-5, and you don't get that creepy, near the highway and truck stops feeling. This hotel has an inviting exterior with a cute little water fountain thing out front. That's a nice touch. Be warned: the parking lot is not huge, and we struggled a bit with parking our minivan among the large construction trucks that were there. Parking should be a hassle-free, stress-free experience for guests. Guest services also were spot on. Hotel staff called our room to make sure it was clean, to our liking and check if there was anything we needed. I'm not sure if that practice is because of this pandemic, but that should be a regular business practice in the future. Well done! Cons were that the breakfast was in a lame, tacky paper bag with some cheap items in it. I know we're in the midst of a public health crisis, but some effort would have been nice. Also, there are very limited food options in the area. The last con was again the parking lot. It was not big enough to accommodate all the vehicles.
Everything was fine. Room, was clean and quiet, My only complaint is that there aren't many dining options in the immediate area, although this not the fault of the hotel. I have stayed here twice this year, and would do so again, if passing through the area.
My husband and I traveled with our two cats, moving 1300 miles. BW Heritage Inn was our first overnight stop and one of the few motels I could find in Bakersfield that accepts cats. I called the motel a couple of times to ask about the rooms and their suitability for feline guests (who tend to crawl under beds and behind furniture when scared). She answered my questions kindly and patiently, which I really appreciated. The motel is located right off of I-5, so it was a very convenient stop after an extremely long drive. The room was very clean and fresh, with basic furnishings, comfortable beds, and nice linens. This is a good choice for travelers wanting an overnight stop along I-5.
Just needed a place off the freeway to stay one night while traveling from Northern CA to Southern CA. This is the perfect place. The staff were as friendly and as helpful as a staff at any luxury hotel (maybe even more so!). The first time we stayed here, they had a complimentary breakfast buffet, that was excellent. That alone was worth the (very reasonable) price of one night!
We appreciated the dedication the hotel's managers are making to safety in this trying time. It was most comforting to know our room was not only clean, but we didn't have to disinfect it! Check-in and check-out were both "safe" which was greatly appreciated. Note that you may have to get creative to get around the lineup of trucks driving past the hotel. We apprised the situation, drove through a break which a trucker gave us, and it wasn't much of a problem. Food from the taco truck was tasty and the recommendation to it was appreciated.
Hardwood/vinyl floors. YUCK. Staff (owner) has sorry excuse for not serving breakfast, which is part of the price. No discount for NOT serving breakfast. All 5 other BWs we stayed at during the same week (we are truckers) at least provided “go bag breakfast”. These guys didn't even try!! Also, if you don't want noise, this is smack dab next to a truck stop. Just saying. Even tho I rated it poor location (the trucks didn't bother us) I did it for all you other folks.
We have spent the past 3 weeks travelling as we cannot get into out home until April 18 and we planned to visit the National Parks in Oregon and California BUT they were all closed so our home was hotels for 3 weeks. We were heading to Lake Isabella to visit a friend and decided to stop her for a couple nights since BW is pet friendly. When checking in the front desk person was extremely nice and helpful with food suggestions. The room was very clean and despite a truck stop across from the hotel we really did not notice the trucks and for some reason they were lined up to get diesel at the truck stop. The pet area was neat and clean.
I have to give a shout out to this establishment! Kavi took care of us! Not many businesses go out of there way but he did! I give a huge recommendation for this particular Best Western in Bakersfield CA. We will always stay at this Best Western when we are in Bakersfield! You guys ROCK!
If you like the sound of semi trucks all night, this is the place for you. The noise is terrible, the room was not that clean, the chemical smell in the room was horrible. The only positive, it's pet friendly and has a decent area for pets to go potty. A 9pm quiet time was interrupted at just before 10pm with an argument right outside our room. I am not likely to stay here again.
We stayed here for one night while moving and we're in need of a hotel that would allow two cats and this best western was super accommodating. We had a great meal at the Mexican restaurant right next door . The coffee in the lobby the next morning was very good.
We were in Bakersfield for a state cheer competition. I drove 5 hours with a car full of girls and arrived around 12:30am. I was exhausted to say the least. I walked in the lobby of the hotel to check in. The smell was horrendous. I was hoping the rooms were a lot better than the lobby, so I continued to check in. He was asking me how many kids I had with me and their ages. He wanted to make sure he charged me for any additional kid I had; at that time I didn't realize he charged me for one less kid. As we were unloading and walking to the room, he ran across the parking lot to tell me I gave him the wrong amount of people and he needed to charge me more. “Ok well I don't care what you charge me. I'm exhausted and need to get these girls to bed”. It's now 1am! We entered the hotel room to see dirt or something all over one of the beds. I called to the desk to bring clean blankets and sheets. When he came he asked to see the bed. I showed him and asked for new sheets and blanket to replace the ones that were currently on the beds. He gave us this small gross blanket and said we would need to wait until tomorrow to get our sheets changed. Seriously??!! We fortunately found another hotel and left that place as quickly as possible. I have to admit, I'm so surprised the reviews are decent. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in a long time.
Excellent rooms with quality linen,s the staff met and exceeded expectations, and the freshness and quality of breakfast was beyond the norm of hotel offerings, an easy off ramp location makes this one of our best choices on trip up I-5
This is a perfect place to stay for a restful night after a long drive on CA5. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms at a modest price. No problems at all during our stay and we will definitely return.
This Best Western is in need of an update. It looks like it hasn't been remodeled in decades. The bathroom was paricularly dated, but what bothered me more than appearances was the poor water pressure and lukewarm water temperature (Room 209). Having said that, the employees I dealt with were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast area, a small section of the lobby, had a good variety of choices. Overall, we were looking for a hotel on I-5 about two hours outside of Los Angeles, and this Best Western, while needing some improvements, fit the bill.
We chose this property after a LONG day of driving on I-5. The price was right and everything was great, starting with the friendly person at the front desk when we checked in. We were extremely tired after a long day of driving and she gave us a great room. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast space is a little crowded and only has a few tables, but they give you information to let you know when the least crowded times are. The breakfast server was friendly and efficient, keeping everything stocked. We shared a table with some other travelers and had an interesting conversation over breakfast. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay if you are travelling along I-5.
This is the place to stay right off of Interstate 5. The exit is deceiving that such a nice motel is there. It is a gem of a place to stay. The rooms are recently renovated and very clean and nicely appointed. I love the complimentary breakfast. IHOP is walking distance across the street.
We were headed to AZ when due to snow storms , we were turned around , 1-5 was shutdown , thankfully this BW had a room free . It was comfortable, clean and great breakfast, service was great. Young man was helpfully with road and weather conditions update. It was a great convenient place to crash and wait, with a couple of 24hr restaurants in walking distance. Grest location .
No complaints. Staff was great. Beds and rooms were comfortable/clean. Value for the cost was where it should be. Convenient location off of I5 to stop for the night. Less crowded than other locations near the base of Grapevine.
Very clean and comfortable accommodations. We checked in easily and received a room near a grassy area which was perfect for our dogs. Pricing was very reasonable. We would definitely stay here again.
We were traveling north to visit family. It's always a challenge getting out of LA. Wo we either leave very early or leave the night before and stop along the way. When we do stop, we stay at the Best Western Heritage Inn. It's a friendly place and just the right distance. The service and breakfast were good. The rooms are showing some wear.
This convenient stop just off I5 has nicely appointed room, OK bed, clean, nice staff. Some road noise which doesn't bother me. But the air freshener! Makes my head hurt, bothers my nose and throat. This seems to be a general problem for hotels especially Best Western. I'll think twice before staying again.
On a road trip from San Diego to San Francisco, I stopped in at this Best Western to make a business call to a coaching client. Upon entering the reception area, the staff allowed me to sit and make my call. The call lasted 45 minutes. I returned to my vehicle, and completed my trip to San Francisco. I remembered, the next day, that I had forgotten my briefcase, laptop, and personal articles in the lobby of the hotel. With fear and trepidation I made the call to the hotel.A very pleasant lady's voice answered the phone. Debra calmed me all the way down and let me know that she had all my possessions. She let me know her manager, Kavi Patel would call and arrange shipping my possessions to me. I am a motivational speaker, and all my intellectual property was on that laptop. Kavi was completely understanding, and made all the arrangements. Kavi listened with a sympathetic ear and assured me all would be fine. Thank you to you Kavi for your leadership your attitude towards humanity, I can see why your hotel operates so well. I pledge, to always stay at your establishment when I'm on that route. Thank you.
Called in the morning for a room that night. Booked a room over the phone. On arrival I was greeted by Debra, and was told that my room was ready. Check in was a snap and the room was super. Breakfast was good with plenty of coffee to get me on the road.
Worst hotel stay in 50 yrs. The location was extra daily driving. The noise, smell and cleanliness was appalling. My asthma was out of control for my entire trip. My future use of BW will depend on this review and your reply. My family living in Bakersfield could not belive we were put in the awful location. So I mostly stayed with a relative most of my 8 nights. Wow!
The Best Western Heritage Inn is a good hotel to stay for a night while you are on your way to northern or southern destinations. The rooms are clean and quiet despite being close to the freeway and truck stops. This is not a destination hotel and it is pretty far from the Bakersfield sites and mountains. It is a great way station, particularly if you have had a long day driving and don't want to face the Grapevine going south or empty expanses at night going north.
Conveniently located just off the I-5 - Cheap gas at Buttonwillow and Lost Hills - very clean and quiet - good breakfast - friendly staff. Good stopping point on a trip to LA or San Francisco. Local fast food and Indian/Mexican/steak house restaurants nearby. Located about 8 miles outside Bakersfield - Head to Dewars Ice cream parlor in Bakersfield - over 100 years old. The real deal.
I was so tired when I stopped, I didn't even know what town I was in! The evening attendant made it really easy for me to check in and get a room where I would feel safe, because I was traveling alone. The room was clean and looked up to date. I was able to sleep well, and continue on my way refreshed.
Only stayed here one night but it was very nice they had the ac going in the room so it was very comfortable when we entered. Nice and clean. It was the exact opposite of the vagabond across the street.
We enjoyed our night. Everything was clean and quiet. We were very surprised to have everything clean and comfortable bed. Large room with plenty of chairs to sit. We would recommend it to all our friends.
Booked this hotel thinking it was going to be closer to Bakersfield. Still another 20 miles. Hotel was nice, room was clean and the staff was friendly. The pool was great and not super cold. This would be a hotel I would stay at again.
Everything was great, from the moment we were greeted at reception until we left. The room was clean and comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was fine, and an attendant offered to make us pancakes. Only problem was that it was a bit noisy, with the sounds from the highway and the air conditioner that was struggling to keep us cool. This didn't prevent us from getting a good night's sleep! That said, it was a nearly perfect stay!
We stay at Best Westerns all over, but had never stayed at this one before, partly because of its proximity to the freeway, and it's drab appearance from the road. Surprisingly, though, noise was not an issue here, and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean. It had a great shower, and comfortable bed. We will stay here again.
Room was clean and had no odor in spite of it being a pet friendly room. Handle to front door was broken so that was disappointing because it led us to believe the rooms are not checked fully before offering them for reservations. Staff was friendly, no complaints there! Breakfast was disappointing— potatoes tasted like they were seasoned with lime and scrambled eggs were salty. There were no other warm choices other than that. They did offer pancakes but you had to “order” them, at first I thought they would be REAL homemade pancakes but turns out they are the same pancakes most hotels offer, excerpt here you don't have access to them you have to ask for some. For $160 for the night breakfast was disappointing. Other than that the staff was amazing and friendly!
Started with a lady with attitude at check in and got worse. The room had a stale odor, numerous flies and plaster falling from the bathroom ceiling. The rooms backup to a line of semis waiting to purchase fuel at a truck stop 200 yards away. The trucks idle in this endless line until late in the evening.
You just never know when you book a hotel, what you will get. This one is a keeper. Very clean , quick checkin , nice staff, little extras like nice patio seating to eat or coffee. Would stay here again for sure!
great people at the frount desk. supper nice. so clean very well taken care of. room so clean looks great, nice bed counfy. no nice to traffic sound great pool not walking or other exercise. I like to walk after work so I walked around the pool??
We had booked a night at the Vagabond across the street which was so dirty. We took a chance and moved to the Best Western across the street. My son and I were so relieved when we entered our room. It was so much better. Everything looked and smelled clean. The beds were comfortable and we did not hear any noise. We did not eat at the breakfast buffet but it looked well manned and seemed to have plenty of choices. Thank you Best Western!
Typical Best Western freeway hotel and as usual a good experience. Clean rooms, comfy bed however they didn't have the real soft pillows but they were ok. The rooms have ceiling fans which is great for the desert heat. Breakfast was hot but is held in the lobby which is small. Good coffee. The front staff were terrific.
This is the third time we've stayed here in 2 years, and it's still a great place to stay, if you're like us and don't want to stay right in Bakersfield. It's possible that my opinion is swayed by the chocolate mints at the checkin counter, and the warm soft delicious chocolate chip cookies...but I can't be certain. The staff are always friendly, the rooms are always clean, the fridge and microwave work, good quality toiletries, lots of bed pillows, and comfy beds. The morning breakfast is also great, somehow feels a little fancy, a step up from the typical motel complimentary fare. There's a Jack in the Box (never been there) and an IHOP within walking distance, along with the truck stop gas station. I can't believe I'm saying this, but you can get a great salad at the IHOP, and the service there is great! Fast and clean. Love this little truck stop gem!
The standard to which all hotels should be held to. The cleanest and most comfortable Best Western I've ever stayed at (I'm Platinum BW...I stay at a lot). From the welcoming staff, to the over-stuffed goody bag, to the door being held open for us (each time of entry to the lobby), comfy beds, to the fanatical cleanliness, this truly was a hotel/motel that the staff are proud of. Not the cheapest off the 5 freeway in Buttonwillow, but clean, very comfortable and safe (and pet friendly for $10/night more). Highly recommend.
We always stay at Best Western Hotels as they are convenient, clean and good value. Traveling as Snowbirds now and stay at BWs coming and going to Phoenix. Would always recommend BWs for value and convenience.
I pick this due to the location and convenience. Lots of parking space. Easy late check ins. However, they need to update their rooms. Carpets in most rooms are filthy. They use plug in air fresheners to mask the stench. If your room is next to the stairs and it's raining. Be prepared to stay up all night. The rain hits the ac/ heater unit outside and it echoes into the room. You would think by now someone would have covered it or done something to fix this annoyance. My last visit I got barely any sleep and getting back on the road made it difficult to stay awake. Otherwise, it's the perfect location off the 5 for a rest stop.
I had to find a hotel very late at night. This one looked safest for a female solo traveler and was. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had too Strong an odor of bleach and cleaning chemicals! The gluten free breakfast options were better than nothing but the gf blueberry muffins are made in a facility that processed wheat and should be thrown in the garbage.
After driving 600 miles along I-5 this BW was conveniently located. Parking was easy, even with our UHaul Trailer. Parking lot was well lit. Staff was friendly & professional. Room was clean and breakfast was great. Of our last 8 stays this was one of the best two places. Priced right!
We enjoyed staying here. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and comfortable and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Whenever we are traveling through here we always stay here. We can highly recommend this hotel.
Located near Buttonwillow, it's a good stop mid-trip from northern areas to southern California. We spent two nights here, one on our way to L.A. and one on our return three days later. The first visit we were in our requested king bed room on the first floor (there's no elevator). There were just two criticisms of that room: (1) It had only one chair by a flat surface - a desk. With a fridge and microwave in the room it should have occurred to someone that two people might be eating there. We needed to improvise a second seat by the desk which was the only handy eating surface. (We used one of the two luggage holder fold-outs.) (2) The toilet is for very short people. My 4'11” wife and I both had difficulty getting up from it. On our return visit, I requested a room for people with extra needs. We were assigned to room 121 which comes with assistance bars in the bathroom, an adult sized toilet, and a very nicely designed walk-in shower. The service was excellent, the morning breakfast included a number of choices, and the price of our stay was reasonable.
I was on a road trip, became too tired to drive, and stopped here unplanned. It was much cleaner and felt safer than I expected. The staff was more attentive and friendly than I've experienced at luxury hotels. The bed was comfortable and even as a picky eater, I was quite happy with the bagel (that I selected from a well stocked buffet) in the morning.
We enjoyed our one night stay at this Best Western - the staff were super accommodating and friendly. You couldn't ask for more - the smiles were infectious….Quiet location with a great breakfast buffet and they will even make some fresh pancakes for you with a smile…
My daughter and I recently stayed here one night on our drive from Redding to San Diego. Situated along the I-5 corridor my husband and a couple other family members stayed here on their way from Arizona to Redding and said it was great. We took their advice and reserved a room for our trip as well. We arrived after dark and it was literally a welcome sight in the middle of nowhere! Well-lighted and seemingly secure parking lot for our U-Haul truck was reassuring. Check-in was a breeze. The lobby though small was clean and comfortable. Rooms were also clean and well-appointed with everything one would need for a good night's sleep. Beds were on the softer side, which was fine for us. The room also contained a small refrigerator and microwave. We had requested a room on the second floor away from the freeway so noise was not a problem. Breakfast the next morning included a variety of items...something for just about everyone's taste. Nothing fancy, but adequate. The staff refilled things as necessary and were attentive to people's requests and needs. My only suggestion would be to install an elevator to the second floor. My daughter had a really heavy suitcase and it was really a challenge to get it up the rocky stairs. An elevator would have been nice. Oh, and there is a nice IHOP restaurant next door which I think is open 24/7. We were hungry for dinner when we arrived so this was really convenient.
It was clean enough for my family and I to sleep well. The beds could have been just a little more comfortable, but they were still great. Just a little stiff for my liking. The water pressure in the shower was on point and the bathroom was suitable. Coffee was really good.
It's a bit noisy right off the freeway. You will also have to navigate around a very long line of trucks waiting to fuel up. Hotel seems pretty safe. Staff very friendly and efficient on both check in and check out. Room was clean and had all the fixings. Would stay again.
I checked in with my brother who has mental health issues. They could not have been more compassionate or understanding or helpful. Thank you Stephanie! After checking out and driving 3 hours I realized I left my wallet. Anna quickly located it and a manager folllowed up with details of the next day delivery. Just an incredible job that far surpassed my expectations under the circumstances. The room was also neat and clean.
This was a stop for us half way on a trip from the desert to the coast; we chose it for its convenience, and it didn't disappoint. It's located right off I-5, about 15 miles west of Bakersfield proper, in a sort of island with a couple of gas stations, a Jack in the Box, and an IHOP around it, and nothing else. The hotel is clean, looks and feels new, and the staff is very pleasant and attentive. The only minus is not their fault, and it was the strong, pungent smell of chemicals that would blow in, and which made being outside very uncomfortable. I would reconsider stopping here, if only for the strong smell in the air.
Nessa at the front desk was super nice! She was always making sure that there was food for breakfast. Always cleaning around and making sure that the whole dining area was clean and organized. She was even so lovely with my pet. The checkout was a breeze, also. When we first got to the hotel, I thought “wow, this is going to be loud and unpleasant” because of the 2 gas stations next to the hotel and semi trucks coming and going to get fuel. It was a busy location. But to my surprise, it was not loud at all when we were in our room. We slept fine. I mean we heard noises but not too bad at all. The room was really clean for being a pet friendly room. The internet speed was not bad either and the bath amenities were good. And it's super close to the freeway. If we're in the area again, we will definitely stay here.
Just a stop on a long drive. Clean and comfy bed. Everything else was as expected for the price. Right next to a truck stop. The "breakfast" was nothing special but was included. Staff was friendly. Worth it!
Clean and pleasant the breakfast was ok. Couldn't figure out the pancake machine. I would definitely recommend this place. Was very close to I5 and food places. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
We stopped at this Best Western hotel at the mid-point of a road trip. It is very convenient, right off the 5 freeway. In spite of being so close to the freeway, the hotel faces away from it (no windows on the freeway side), and was quiet--I didn't notice any road noise. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated for a mid-range hotel, and the staff all very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable and firm. I especially liked that there were several pillows of different types on the bed, so we could pick thick or thin, or whatever pillow worked best. The fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy, but that was the only issue. There was coffee in the room and a standard breakfast (cereal, pancakes, juice, yogurt, etc.) in the morning. IHOP nearby in case of need, and several restaurants at the next stop up on the freeway, a couple of miles north, as well as many restaurants on the road east in Bakersfield. A pleasant stay, and would return again.
Traveling to San Diego to drop off our son and his car for the Navy. The hotel is right off the freeway for easy on and off . We checked in late after 11 pm and still was greeted with a cheerful smile from staff.
My first time to stay at this BW and I liked it. Room was clean, decorated nicely & linens were good. Morning was more continental but was still satisfactory. I would stay here again if making this trip again. The price of fuel in the area was high but I just waited till I got over the grapevine.
A really convenient location off of I-5. But, there are no restaurants in the area other than fast food. Had to drive an hour round trip to eat dinner. The place was nice, and the staff was really friendly! The rooms were clean, and comfortable. The only downfall was the tv, no channel guide on the tv to show what was on. Only a paper one showing the channels.
A simple, clean place to stay right on Hwy 5. Accessibility; the bathroom was large and well laid out. I didn't have to use my seat riser, and the roll-in shower was super user friendly. Towels were reachable and sink was roll-underable ;) (I used my walker in the room, and the bathroom was the perfect size to park my wheelchair for the night!) The room itself was small, we had two full sized beds, and it was well enough laid out - enough space between the beds for my walker, and the bed height was good for me, with a firm mattress. I could back my chair up between the beds to turn around. We were able to set up a twin airbed between the bed and the window for my daughter. Sunset view was spectacular, and the ac was nice and cold, though quite loud, which might be a good thing due to the proximity of the highway. (The addition of a ceiling fan meant we didn't have to run it at night.) There's nothing to do nearby and only a Subway for dinner.
Came to Bakersfield for a dog agility event at fairgrounds. Pet-friendly hotel, has a grassed potty area with bag dispenser at one end of building. Staff very pleasant, relatively quiet (understand that it is by I-5 and a truck route), well-kept grounds, and breakfast in the morning.
nice room, good bed. nice shower, internet. but way overpriced for a freeway motel. we got there at 1130pm and still didnt get a break on the room rate. i should have gone to the vegabond inn across the street
We have stayed here often and have always found it clean and inviting. The only real problem is the distance from good dining. We find it is best to eat in Bakersfield. The trade off is the proximity to I-5. The staff have always been professional and friendly.
This location is right off of Interstate 5 and we stopped which is a night sleep on a road trip. What I need and want are comfortable beds and this property had them. Slept great. The only negative thing is the overhead fan. But it was mainly over one bad so I grabbed the opposite. I would stop here again on a future road trip.
Clean and comfortable rooms, along the I-5 but still quiet. Good selection at the breakfast that is included. Rooms are well appointed. There is an I-Hop near the property for meals. Unfortunately for us, it was closed when we stayed....closed for renovations but have dined there on a past trip.
I will always stay one night at this Best Western when traveling to Arizona it is comfortable and great access to I-5 and other highways. Pleasent staff and nice breakfast options. Two gas stations and a couple food place near by.
I am a single mom with a young daughter, and when we drive to SoCal we usually need to stop halfway. It's always been a roll of the dice to find a clean, safe property driving down the 5 unless you want to spend $200 for Harris Ranch. The BW Heritage Inn was perfect for us. Big, clean rooms, convenient and within a 1-minute walk to have a meal at IHOP. (Pancakes for dinner? Sign me up.) Yeah, there is freeway noise, but turn on the a/c and/or fan and it becomes white noise. The front desk staff was kind and welcoming. When my daughter forgot her stuffed animal, they held it for us at the front desk until we returned 3 days later to get it. Will absolutely stay here again.
Hotel sits right off I-5 And office has ear plugs sitting on counter! Message to that. Newish hotel, safe, very averag and convenient Prices vary widely...be sure to check around. Low rate breakfast is offered.
Stayed here rather than in Bakersfield because of the easy access to I-5. Warmly greeted by Stephanie on arrival and given a very spacious room. I don't pay much attention to reviewers who complain about the decor, quality of breakfast and such. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Highway noise has to be expected - you're right off the I-5. With the fan running all night the noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. It is a small dining room and as such doesn't have room for eggs and sausages. But along with the usual cereal, bagels and yogurt there were two kinds of El Monterey breakfast burritos to heat up, almond milk, many types of gluten free baked goods. I've never seen those items at a Motel. Good job, owner. For a one night stay off the interstate, it's perfect.
We were greeted at the front desk person so nicely. Our dog and cat were made welcome with no questions asked. Accommodations were clean well appinted and comfortable. Beds were firm - just to our liking. The breakfast was great and the staff attended to everyone's needs. We will stay there again. Manager Kavi wrote to thank us for choosing Heritage Inn - nice touch. Wish I had a photo.
Although the exterior could use some tlc, the rooms provide the standard BW look and feel but in an older building. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is in the small lobby area that does not provide enough seating or space for all guests to be able to sit while eating. Bathroom and shower were clean and bed was comfortable for our one night stay. It is located next to the highway so light sleepers need to use the ear plugs that are provided at the front desk.
We have stayed at this Best Western before, and were just as pleased with our recent visit as we were the first time. The rooms are very large and well-kept. The nice addition this time is their "to go" bag that's offered for those who are unable to make it to breakfast. We had an early check-out and were offered fruit, muffins, coffee and yogurt, which the clerk put in a bag (with a couple of extra goodies) for us to take with us in the car. What a nice gesture! We will definitely stay here again!
We were tired, traffic was extremely heavy coming out of Southern California on the day after Xmas 2017. We were on our way to Sacramento and were planning to get to Harris Ranch. because of heavy traffic, it took longer than planned to get over the Grapevine. We chose this motel because it is pet friendly. Motel was very clean, beds comfortable, lots of pillows, quiet, and great stall. Highly recommend.
The "big rigs" line up for blocks along the street in front with their smelly diesel engines idling as they wait to refuel and the fumes are quite noticeable, even inside the rooms. The motel is located up against a highway(I-5) and my room vibrated from the traffic. There is tiny breakfast area with very little selection in the main lobby. The room was very outdated. There were quite a few construction workers staying at the hotel and there were a group of 8 drinking and smoking quite late outside their room, just a couple of doors down from mine. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep.
Clean well located motel. Quality of breakfast not up to usual Best western standards. We would stay there again, but other Best Westerns provide more - saying that, we had no problems. Reasonable value for the price.
Pros: 1) The front desk staff was welcoming. 2) Conveniently located off of I-5. 3) The room was clean. 4) The continental breakfast was more than sufficient. Cons: 1) The room was musty smelling. 2) Flies. 3) On the morning of my checkout (which is at 11:00 a.m.), I started loading the car at 9:00 a.m. - my key card would not work to get me back into the room to collect the rest of my things so I had to go back to the front desk for them to recode it. Just an inconvenience ... key cards should work until checkout.
Okay hotel but it's good for its location. The rooms and room decor is a bit outdated. The customer service is good, the workers are very helpful and courteous. Easy to get to location, right off the 5, great for a quick night stopover.
Would highly recommend this place along I5. Clean, comfortable and very handy to eating and travel Can hear some road noise and people above you but did not keep us awake. The staff is very helpful; my husband was very tired and wanted a jacuzzi tub to relax. They moved us to a nice room with a jacuzzi tub.
If you appreciate the little things when traveling, good sheets and pillows, comfy bed, then this is the place to stay just about half way from San Diego to the Bay Area. Above average breakfast is included and you can be assured of a clean, fresh-smelling and quiet room that will afford you a good night's sleep.
We stopped here on our drive from Long Beach to the Bay Area. Front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful. The cable in our room did not work and she found us a room with working cable and made sure all was good before we switched rooms. Even offered us snacks and waters. The room was very clean and comfortable. Freeway noise was not an issue. Warning the smell when you walk out of the room is horrendous but that certainly isn't the fault of the hotel. I will definitely stay here again next time we travel down south.
This is a little gem right off I-5 in Stockdale. It's a small property located with one other budget hotel, a couple of gas stations, an IHOP and a Jack in the Box. The room was clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet when considering the building is within 100 feet off the exit ramp of the freeway. Also, their ACs have a constant fan setting option that gives a little white noise which always helps. I wished all properties had these ACs. The rooms' backs are facing the freeway and the window faces the parking lot and pool area. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is a pet friendly property with a $10 pet fee. We didn't eat breakfast as we ate across the street at IHOP. I would certainly stay here again.
Being the last hotel stay on our long trip, we were very tired. We found the staff at this hotel to be very pleasant and polite. We had a good experience and would recommend this property. The location is on the I-5 freeway and very easy to find. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. Would stay there again.
My wife and I stayed two nights, on the way to and from Sacramento. The property was an average Best Western, clean and presentable, what we've come to expect and why we stay at BW almost exclusively when traveling on the road. The staff, however, were some of the most attentive and friendly that we've experienced short of an expensive resort. Kudos to them. The farmland smells were a bit strong but having grown up in a rural area, was almost nostalgic. My only negative comment about the place was that the breakfast area was quite small and crowded when more than half a dozen people were there.
Quiet clean room with very comfortable king sized bed. The motel is conveniently located between Monterrey and Las Vegas. Staff were very friendly and caring. Breakfast was typical Continental with lots of choices.
Conveniently of HWY 5. Great 1/2 waypoint between San Francisco & San Diego. Basic hotel, but clean. Super friendly staff. Attentive to our needs. Pet friendly= $10. Small grass area in corner of property. Plenty of parking. Safe.
Quietness, staff, cleanliness and overall experience 110% The staff goes out of its way to help you, even if they are busy, the breakfast was delicious, hats off to the cooks! overall experience was great! I have had a BW card for a few years now and never was asked if I had one until now.....Great way to earn free night stay, etc////////
We decided to stay here after an extremely bad stay at the local Motel 6. We need an accessible bath room due my use of a walker. Room was more than we expected. Great seat in the shower, plenty of space in the bath room and room, and very quiet even with the freeway so close. The staff were wonderful and very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely stay here again when necessary!
This is a very comfortable hotel which is just off the highway but there are no noise issues whatsoever. There is an IHop restaurant opposite but otherwise there doesn't look to be any other dining options nearby. Large, clean room in good state of repair with refrigerator, air con and ceiling fan. Be aware there are no elevators so request a ground floor room if this is a problem. Small pool. Breakfast area was also very small but we all managed to fit in, and although there was a limited choice of items the breakfast was nonetheless very good. The staff were all super friendly. I would stay here again.
Air conditioning made noise and I found a bug on my sheets had to google to see if it was a bed bug or not there were lots of flies but staff was friendly. Breakfast area was clean food was fresh but the flies were bad internet often shut down and many times I couldn't reach the front desk the mattress on the king bed just killed my back
great standard hotel room with normal amenities. clean and comrort able room and bed. great location to jump back on the 5 freeway. quiet and clean.i did however follow the instructions of another traveler who said to ask for a room but by the office. I did and got room 103. very quiet no problems at all.
Short but good stay. They do need an area for dogs to do their duty. Also the breakfast area was in the lobby and very small. As busy as it was the rooms were quiet. They were also comfortable and easy access.
this is a high quality operation. the morning breakfast has us leaving with a big smile of contentment on our faces. everything about the room is great. we have grown to expect that from our stays wherever we go. way to go, BW!
Convenient location, right off of Interstate 5. We stayed here for one night on our way north, in August 2017. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable, providing free wi-fi, a mini fridge and microwave. The complimentary breakfast was limited in options... mostly carbs (cereal, bread and pancakes.) But, overall, we were pleased with our stay.
Stopped here last night at around 1:30am exhausted. We were traveling with our dog and took the last available pet friendly room. Unfortunately as soon as we opened the door it reeked of urine. Sure enough, there was a big pee stain on the carpet close to the door. The smell was overwhelming so I went to inform the front desk. I was told I couldn't move room and was given a weak air freshener. We had to smell pee all night. The air freshener was too weak to eliminate or mask any of the odor. We had to sleep with the window open and the fan running. If it wasn't for that we were so tired, we would have definitely left. I understand that the dog peeing on the carpet was not their fault (shame on you irresponsible pet owners) but they should have kept that room empty until they could control the odor. Our poor -house broken- dog had to sleep in the bathroom because of the pee on the carpet.
My stay was comfortable and peaceful. I had a good night sleep for my busy next day. The staff was helpful and very nice. The room was extremely clean and quite. I enjoyed my stay. I have stayed at Best Westerns for years and have never had a bad experience.
This hotel is out in the middle of no where. It's essentially a truck stop location. I stayed here because of where I was working was also in the middle of no where. When I drove up I didn't expect much from this room. I was wrong. You pull up and there's a fountain right behind you. When you walk to the desk the lady behind the counter is super polite and engages you in conversation. She offered me a bottle of water and some fresh baked cookies that were still warm. My room was located upstairs in a corner. It was quiet and away from the sounds of the big rigs. The room is pretty nice. New bed and furniture although the carpet could be swapped out. There was a ceiling and ac unit in the room and both are quiet. Not once was I woken up by the ac turning on. The bed is comfortable and I didn't have any issues falling asleep. The restroom is spacious and has good lighting. It could use some decor changes but that may just be my preference. At check out, the lady at the desk, someone else, was polite and engaging as well. Breakfast is what you would expect. The usual stuff, waffles, eggs, sausage, etc. If I was in the area again, I'd stay here versus that other hotel across the street.
This is a very clean, pet friendly hotel. Easy access to Interstate 5. Microwave and refrigerator in the rooms.. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Around sunset, when I took my dog in the doggy area, there was a swarm of some sort of insects...not mosquitoes. So, I took my dog to the front of the hotel grassy area....no problems. The next morning, we tried the doggy area again and had no problems with insects...must be the time of day. We would stay here again.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The person checking us in was outstanding. I asked for the quietest room she could find for us. She went to considerable effort to find us a room that worked well. She was also helpful with suggestions for dinner. Breakfast was good. There was oatmeal without added sugar and hard boiled eggs. The motel is right off the freeway so very convenient for travelers.
Very clean, so close to the 5 you get right off and on. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good and I was surprised at how much they offer for a small lobby. I will come back to this property on my next trip.
Great hotel just off of the freeway. Convenient stopover for a good night of sleep to get back on the road again in the morning. Hotels on the 5 and 99 start to really fill up as it gets late in the evening, so make a reservation in the morning.
This is a nice facility right in the middle of rural country. Not many choices for eating at this exit but the motel was very helpful in finding eateries within 15-20 minutes of this exit. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked very well. Outside temperatures were in the mid 90's but we were able to keep our room a comfortable 72.
Very nice place to stay solo or with family. Price was great. Room was very clean. Bathroom very modern. Easy place to find. Pool water nice and warm. Quite, no noise even with traffic close by. Highly recommended.
Great place to stay, staff was great as was the room. Also appreciate the Grab N Go lunch they provide when leaving early. I like only a light breakfast and it was perfect. I was driving I-5 and realized I was to tired to continue so stopped here, and the receptionist was helpful and actually worked something with the other reservations so I could have a ground floor room as stairs can be difficult for me.
Love staying at bestwestern try to stay at 1 every night if possible The rewards are great the people that work at bestwestern are nice at most of them Don't know what else to tellyou Bestwestern are our favorite hotels
Fantastic location off the highway. This was the mid-point stop on a trip from Los Angeles to Paso Robles. Because we arrived at about 1am, we asked to stay an hour past the designated check in time in order to catch up on rest. The staff were kind to allow us this additional hour of peace. We saw many families stay here with young children. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at about 8:30am. Good selection: bananas, hard boiled eggs and pancakes, dairy free and gluten free alternatives. We stayed on the second floor and had no noise problems whatsoever. Would highly recommend this hotel.
I had stayed here before in a room near the office, and was impressed with the nice room and quite, despite the close proximity to the interstate. but this stay I was booked a room closer to the freeway, in the far end of the Hotel and this room was in need of renovation and was considerably louder than the previous stay. The noise was not a problem for me but might be for some. Not sure if they are renovating and haven't gotten to this room yet. But it needs work. The truck traffic to the gas station blocking the Hotel entrances was off putting as well, but I guess is a common occurrence, which is unfortunate. Very reasonable priced stay, with nothing really major wrong. I did REALLY enjoy the wider variety of cable channels than is usual in Hotel rooms. They even had Free Speech t.v. so I was able to watch my beloved Stephanie Miller in the morning, SO GREAT! unfortunately FoxFakeNews was blasting in the lobby. I will be back to stay again, but Ill ask for a room by the office next time.
We chose this location as it was just off Hwy 5 and we were towing a 27' trailer. It is easy on and off the highway. The hotel has been updated and has ceiling fans in the rooms. Bonus, especially since we were there during a heat wave (110!). The ceiling fan helped circulate the air conditioning making the room temp very comfortable. The staff was very nice. We would stay again if necessary.
Hot day. Great stay. Very nice hotel at the price point. Good value. Perfect location in relation to Los Angeles. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff was polite and supportive. Best Western came through.
Stayed at this property 1 night 6/20. Husband had broken 2 ribs, so used toll free reservation line and requested ground floor jacuzzi suite. Check-in was easy, fast, and we were able to park just a few steps from our room (which we prefer, rather than interior hallways). Room was in a dark corner, which was fine with us since exterior temps were over 110 degrees Fahrenheit. HUGE room with huge separate room for jacuzzi. Desk with office-type excellent chair (I work a lot from the road and BW chain is famous for being a good place for road warriors). One other chair (there was room for 2 or a loveseat, but only 1 chair provided. Beautiful king bed with ultra-comfy mattress. STAFF is excellent at this hotel, from front desk to housekeeping. Why not 5? Because the jacuzzi was difficult to get into, being placed sideways, with only about one foot of space along the side, and no grab bars, and a water fill spigot that was dangerously loose. And the jacuzzi space seemed like an after-thought. Not the least bit romantic (if you're into that instead of mending broken ribs). PET POLICY (we usually travel with a pet): $10/night per pet. We did not see a pet friendly room this trip. BREAKFAST: very nice, with something for everyone. Several healthy selections (like almond milk, raisin bran, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs). Better than most hotel breakfasts. LOCATION: easy freeway on-off. Nothing much there, and good eats are limited (front desk can tell you where to go for better food choices).
PET POLICY: $10 per night. We had a jacuzzi suite, which was nice for mending 2 broken ribs, but it was perilous getting in/out of that tub - no grab bars, and fill faucet was loose. This is the best hotel at this offramp - the other one across the street is horrible. Our room had desk with charging station, office quality desk chair, one side chair, fridge, microwave, ultra-comfy king bed. Strangely, in 115 degree heat, the bed was made up with sheet+blanket+sheet+coverlet. SO, we had to strip down the bed in order to survive. A/C did work well, but was a little noisy cycling on/off all night. Walking distance food choices nearby extremely limited.
The bed was clean and I slept like a baby ... for 8 hours! Great selection of breakfast items. Nice quiet area with nearby restaurants and gas station. Lot of trucks, but still very quiet! Great value and professional service!
Great place to stay on Highway 5. Clean & updated room. Great breakfast options. Also had internet service and cable TV. Liked that bathroom was off to the side of our beds in our room (203). Very big room with 2 queen beds with sitting chair, desk, then also microwave and refrigerator.
The hotel over all was nice, staff was wonderful. Breakfast was low end generic but they did have a good microwave burrito. Location was very good, hotel was very clean. Hotel had water issues not due to hotel's control. Pool was closed & one had to drink bottled water.
Overpriced for an internet room next to laundry room. My bad for picking it. Trusted that it was a "Best Western" The water problem effected all the businesses surrounding the motel so was annoying but not their fault. Mediocre accommodations with minimal surrounding food places (Subway, Jack in the Box, IHOP) Good news, is that, it is right next to the I-5 for an easy get-a-way.
Warter was not available for drinking due to plumbing problems. We were provided with bottled water but it was 101 degrees as we checked in and there was no ice that was potable. It would have been nice if management had bought some bags of ice to be given out to guests. The cost would have been great P.R.
The staff is super helpful and super pleasant. The room is clean and comfortable. There is plenty of parking. Breakfast, wi-fi, and about 200 TV channels are free. The only negative is the few dining options nearby.
I would recommend this hotel. Stayed for 1 night. Room was super clean, staff was friendly. Location is right off the freeway, about 8 min away from town.Small pool area. Offered fresh baked cookies around 3pm. Breakfast had a great variety.
We really like this BW and have stayed there many times now. They greet you on arrival with home baked cookies, the prices are reasonable, the rooms very comfortable with a ceiling fan with I really appreciate. The breakfast is very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying there any time we are in the area.
Wanted a place to stay with my dog for the night close to the freeway and this met the requirements. It's very noisy (backs up to I-5) and smelly (agriculture/livestock in area) outside but my room was quite pleasant. The A/C with an adjustable thermostat covered any outside noise with just soft constant white noise. Appreciated the ceiling fan which you don't see too many of in hotels. Simple place to stay if you're just overnighting. No real restaurants or entertainment anywhere close by.
Location right next to the freeway could not have been more convenient. Staff was professional and helpful. Letter from the manager with dining options upscale from fast food available within walking distance was much appreciated and was actually used by us.
We stopped here on a Sunday night and had a good nights sleep. Even though I-5 is right out behind the building, I was not disturbed. There is parking for large vehicles, pet friendly and walking distance for late night munchies.....
From the outside the hotel looked just ok. When we arrived in our room, it was clean, spacious and had all the amenities. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful upon check in and check out. The breakfast was good. Pancakes, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal and pastries and fruit. I would definitely stay there again.
Located just off Interstate 5 makes for easy on and off travel. A very pleasant, large and clean room. Divided bathroom with bath and sinks in separate spaces. The shower was a bit stronger than the usual in a drought area. The one drawback was an extremely loud fan in the bath section. As it was coupled with the lights one could not turn it off. The breakfast looked nice but as I was in a hurry I didn't have more than coffee. I did notice that most of the breakfast items were located in a corner so people had to maneuver around each other to reach various items. There was a nice pool but it was too cold for anyone to use it.
The first room I was given on check-in, had an inoperable TV/cable connection. I reported the problem to the front desk and they immediately sent someone to check it out. After it was determined the problem couldn't be fixed they promptly offered me another room (upgraded) after they checked to be sure that TV worked. I relocated and was very satisfied with how the staff handled the situation. Overall the quality of the room and the professionalism of the staff made this short stay very enjoyable and I wouldn't hesitate to return.
This is the basic Best Western. The rooms are spacious. Our room was quiet despite being so close to the highway. The staff is friendly and professional. A basic breakfast is included which is convenient for traveling.
Clean, quiet, even though it was next to freeway! Excellent breakfast choices! Friendly staff at all times! This motel is in the middle of nowhere...but if you are headed down south this is an excellent choice! It does need a few more restaurant options in this area!
The Friendly staff were very helpful, I reservedt the last room by telephone call. I told them I was worried about the contents in my car. The staff put a cone in the parking space next to the door to my room.... nice touch. Well lighted secure location
I am glad I chose the Best Western to stay. I needed a comfortable stay during my trip and used my app to find this place. It was affordable and exactly what I needed. The hotel was quiet. The room was very clean. The internet worked well too.
Perfect place for a pit stop on a long journey down I-5. Very clean, fresh smelling and well maintained rooms. Bed was nice and linens are good quality. Far better than any of the other available offerings on this stretch of I-5. Basic breakfast available and nearby restaurants. Small pool in parking lot. Friendly staff and quiet area. Thank you Best Western for a pleasant and comfortable stay!
The building and grounds were clean and tidy. Check in was easy as we had reservations. All staff were very helpful and friendly. My room was spacious with good workspace, a hot and powerful shower and very comfortable bed. Breakfast wasn't huge but it was very good - there was an attendant on duty. Wi-Fi worked fine. There was adequate parking. They have a small swimming pool. There is big rig parking on the street outside and a small truckstop around the corner. Regardless of the trucks and interstate close by it was pretty quiet. I would for sure stay here again.
Stayed one night for a weekend trip to Carrizo Plain. The location serves quite well for us, just off I5 and not far from the Carrizo Plain. The room and service are OK, a typical BW you would expect. Quite a few guests during the stay, the parking lot is nearly full, but we have no problem to find a parking near our first floor room. Room size is big enough for our young family of 4 and the beds are queen sizes. Very close to the highway but one can barely hear the traffic, maybe because we got a room not facing the highway, not sure about those on the other side. Overall, we are satisfied with the stay.
Our family made this our meeting spot for our 4x4's. Before heading out for a weekend of the Superblooming Carrizo Plain's. We camped through the weekend at Carrizo National Monument, but having this Best Western as a central meeting point after work on a Friday night was awesome!
I had requested a first floor room, since my wife was traveling with me. She cannot do stairs, due to her hip and knee. They told me upon arrival, they do not guarantee first floor rooms. It was hard for my wife to do the stairs. They need to make provisions for handicapped people, especially if you reserve ahead of time.
Super clean room, all amenities I needed, everything worked, and staff were excellent. Breakfast room could be bigger so I just took to my room and that was ok too. Overall good experience half way between my home and San Diego!!! Only reason for stay...
Stayed overnight as a waypoint for road trip. Staff were friendly, rooms were spacious, clean, recently remodeled and appeared fairly new. Temperature control was easy. Even though we were towards the end of the building, noise from the Interstate was a minimum. The best part - less than $100 a night for a two-queen room, free wifi (most upscale places have you paying an arm and a leg!), and a tasty breakfast (pancakes, yogurt, egg+sausage muffin, hard boiled eggs, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, tea to name a few) for free before resuming the road trip! Can't be beat!! Would stay here again if needing a place to stop over!!
Easy to book over the phone, right off I-5 & surprisingly quiet in the room. Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast to start the day. We were returning from a trip to Arizona & needed an overnight spot to stop at the midway point. The room was clean, they have Direct TV & the internet connection was an easy log on & the speed was really good.
The hotel is conveniently located off of Interstate 5 in a truck stop area. Well lucky truck drivers because you can't beat the price for such well appointed rooms. Large clean, updated guest rooms, a continental breakfast that has a great variety of food items and a staff that scores a 10+ from this business traveler. Fast food restaurants within short walking distance. The kicker is that they are right next to the highway, yet you can't hear any noise from the freeway. Great job guys, keep it up!
Terribly rude check-in manager and the constant barrage of extremely loud interstate truck traffic noise made it impossible to sleep. I knew this would be a lower-end hotel, but I've stayed in much better hotels in this category. I would not recommend this hotel.
I had low expectations of this hotel since it is basically in a truck stop off highway 5 - the only reason we booked here is that we needed a rest / overnight stay on our way from San Diego to Sonoma. We made the reservation due to the good reviews on Tripadvisor and thought it would at least be decent. But, the manager who checked us in made a couple of snide comments and was rude - which added insult to injury since the room itself smelled like urine, the traffic is VERY loud and the hotel is very run down. We got a poor night sleep. The only good thing about this stay was that the room was relatively clean. I would suggest staying at a different hotel if you need to stop for an overnight rest off of Highway 5, this one was terrible.
The Heritage Inn was great find! It seems out in the middle of no-where but 4 miles to the North is the Willow Ranch BBQ. Wonderful Meal and the place stays open past 9PM. 12 miles to the East is Bakersfield with even more amenities. The following Sat night I stayed at the Liberty Inn about 30 mins South. But the best Restaurant closed at 9PM. What was left was fast food establishments. I liked the TV programming at the Heritage Inn. The Liberty Inn is so lame with the limited TV programming. The Heritage staff seemed more likely to smile. Not so with the Liberty Inn staff.
I usually only give a max of 4 stars since nothing in perfect, but I was so impressed with motel I would give more stars if possible. Stephanie (?) was at the desk when I arrived at about 4 pm. She was very gracious and even called the room later to see if I needed an additional blanket. The room was quiet even though right by I 5. I also couldn't hear anything from the adjacent rooms. I would highly recommend as a place to stay. Free WiFi, pet friendly, microwave and fridge in room.
I must share that my experience here was absolutely made (5) Stars in customer service by Kim! Yes it is located adjacent to I-5 making my first night of sleep impossible, but the care and kindness Kim provided made up for it. Upon my early arrival Kim was gracious, patient, and helpful. The second morning when I expressed my lack of sleep, Kim made my move to a quieter room effortless. She even went the extra mile to telephone before leaving her shift to check in on me. I will take some Hwy noise any day to be treated in such a welcoming and caring manner. Lastly, it evident that the owner of this property takes great pride in the service he offers to weary travelers... I am very grateful!
What a perfect overnight location right off of Hwy 5. Walking distance to a IHOP & Jack in the Box. We have stayed here before and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Once you get settled in, they give you a nice courtesy call to be sure all is good. We have a little 4 X 6 trailer we pull and the parking allows for pull through, so we were able to park easily.
The hotel is poised to accommodate road travelers in transit. It is right off of Highway 5 in the Bakersfield area. The rooms are clean, comfortable and stylishly appointed. My husband and I were traveling with a friend, and both rooms reflected the excellent standard one prefers. At the check-in counter, the host provided a plate of cookies, a welcome treat after a long drive. Even though the hotel is located close to the busy freeway, we didn't notice road noise, and the host provided ear plugs for those who may be more sensitive to noise. The room had considerate little touches, like make-up removal cloths, a small coffee pot, two luggage racks and many pillows on the bed. The question we had on TV operation was answered swiftly by the staff, with someone coming to the room to assist (it was user error on my husband's part!) The bathroom was spotless. Breakfast is provided, and the hotel offered gluten-free options that accommodated our traveling companion. We were hurried, so I was able to grab a couple of hard boiled eggs and coffee only, but there were many other options available. There was a breakfast room assistant standing by. This is one of the nicest travel lodges that I have experienced. I've stayed at this hotel three times and each experience was excellent. Kudos to the host!
It was too late to make it to San Diego so we stopped outside of Bakersfield. We had a comfortable room, good TV selection, excellent WiFi, good shower, very comfortable beds, and efficient relatively quiet air conditioning. This property is just off I-5 so there is a little noise. This exit has the motel, a Jack-in-the-Box, a Subway and a gas station. Anything else is at least 5 miles away. Free breakfast was the standard cold selection with waffles and toast. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not a destination but a comfortable stop.
As always thank you for a good nights rest. The Best Western Team went out of their way to insure a confortable stay, i really appreciated the snacks and the bottle of water. Good job team, your hard effort does not go unoticed!
This hotel is located right off I-5 freeway so there is a little bit of traffic noise. It is about 15-20 minutes away from the main part of Bakersfield, so if you are coming from that direction, keep on driving and you will get there (as we discovered). We were greeted by Mr. Kavi Patel, the General Manager. At check-in, we were given a welcome bag that included a few snack items, 2 cold bottles of water and a welcome letter telling us what was in the area (restaurants and stores). I was impressed with these smalls gestures. Our room for the 1 night stay with our large dog had a king size bed, was nearby the pet area, was clean, comfortable and fairly quiet. The temperature was in the high 90s, so the complimentary cold water and air conditioner in the room was nice. The hotel offers a continental breakfast which was enough to get us started in the morning. It was convenient to have the I-5 on ramp nearby when we were ready to leave in the morning. We will definitely stay here again if passing through Bakersfield on our way to/from our future vacation destinations.
When I'm just passin' thru, I want a clean room/bathroom, a good shower, & a comfortable bed. All 3 of these expectations were met. It was close to I-5, so that was also a plus. I didn't need to be close to Bakersfield.
Nothing exciting and nothing nearby but some chain restaurants. We went north 4 miles for good Mexican food. Hotel had very poor internet even though no one around at 4 pm. Finally got good signal at 1 am
Great place to stay on our way from Las Vegas To San Francisco. Room big enough with a large clean bathroom. Breakfast was adequate-cereals pancakes toast bagels hard boiled eggs yoghurt and fruit plus coffee. Not much around but garage with groceries and a couple of takeaways. Great for our needs.
The room was really nice but we had to drive 20 minutes to get to a non fast food restaurant. Minor thing but ... Every time we happened to look out our window the desk clerk was sitting in the front entrance area smoking and on her phone. It just didn't give off a very professional vibe. Probably not a repeat stop but appreciated the room being clean.
I love staying at Best Westerns and this one was exceptionally nice. The rooms were really comfortable with an overhead ceiling fan which I liked. When we checked in, they had chocolate chip cookies for us - love that! The breakfast is very good with pancakes, etc. We'll definitely stay here again when we are headed in that direction.
The hotel was clean and dog-friendly, which was our main priority. Breakfast was disappointing -- just a few muffins and bananas. But this was a very good hotel to stay in when driving between California and Arizona.
Arrived at 9pm room was like an ice chamber set on 70 we did not get to bed until after 11pm stood outside with door open to warm room. Should have asked for another room but that may not have been any better and the receptionist on that evening was not overly receptive. I hope in future they double check the temperatures in rooms
This place is amazing! The young lady at the front desk was a gem!! She was very professional and personable, like all customer service agents should be. She even asked me if she could pet my pooch after getting me all checked in! She was very very accommodating!! Would completely stay here again on my next time through!! The hotel is clean, even though it is in the middle of no where, they have the few restaurants available open 24/7. They are even pet friendly!! The beds are comfortable, they have Direct TV and the pool is nice and clean! Such a relaxing stay!!
We stayed here on way to La from SF and as expected it was a bed and a room. We heard footsteps of people above us all night which was annoying and AC was super loud. Curtains did not close all the way. The bfast was free but in a tiny room so we went to the ihop next door which was perfect for the kids. The service was average, clerk seemed annoyed w us when we checked in and clearly did not like her job. I won't stay there again unless forced to. Plenty of gas and bfast choices at this exit.
Good clean and pet friendly. I would recommend this to any family traveling with a pet and wanting a clean room with a very good staff. Easy on/off freeway and close to a restaurant so it is not necessary to search for a place to eat after driving all day.
Very clean and comfortable. Large flat screen TV. Comfortable bed and large room. They offer coffee and a light continental breakfast. Very quiet and could not hear the highway at all. Cheers and happy travels.
Husband and I were driving from San Diego to Seattle and decided to call it a night here. Even better it's pet friendly! It's an additional $10 a night though. It's right off the 5 so it's easy to find. We had a big uhaul with our car towing behind and so we needed to park in a very well lit area and this was no problem. We had a room on the 1st floor two beds -- it was fine, clean and a good size. No complaints really since we were just spending the night there. There's free breakfast - very basic, but it's helpful. Otherwise, there's not much food options besides a Jack in the Box. If you're looking for a place to call in for the night and you want something to simple with no frills -- this is your spot.
I have stayed at this hotel approx 3-4 times prior to this stay. I will always stay here when I am in the area. this hotel is right off of the I-5 fwy with a Jack in the Box, an Ihop and a Subway within walking distance. Even though this Hotel is right off the freeway you here NO freeway noise in the room what so ever which makes for a great night sleep in there comfy beds. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone who needs a place to stay if you are in the area. Happy travels.
This was a very clean, quiet room. The air conditioner was a little noisy, but otherwise we really liked it. The help was excellent, had a good breakfast also. I would recommend people to stay here. They have a nice pool, we were on the first floor and it was still quiet.
Excellent stay from start in to finish. Room was clean, bed was super comfortable, Tv and internet worked perfectly, breakfast was tasty and fresh. We usually stay at another place one exit north but will be staying here instead for mid-way stop-overs between Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
We were greeted with a gift at the front desk by friendly and informative Stephanie. There were only 5 rooms left when we arrived (without reservations) at about 9:00 pm on a weekday in July. We took the stairs to our room (no elevator). Comfortable bed and pillows, strong shower supply and surprisingly quite room even though the hotel is just next to the hi way. We went for a dip in the pool, which was nice and cold and had it to ourselves. Repeat the next morning. Full hotel but only one other family tool advantage of the pool. Excellent buffet breakfast as the Best Westerns are known for. Oh, the in room coffee is delicious! Highly recommend a stay here.
Great place to stay to get off of highway 5 and get some good rest. This has always been a good stopping point before entering the LA madness. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed and the staff is always friendly. I do want to point out that the toilet seat in room 101 leaves something to be desired. It feels like toilet surfing as it shifts from right to left depending on which way you happen to move! Not a pleasant feeling in the middle of the night! Otherwise a very pleasant stay.
Best Western is a pretty reliable chain. I had stayed at the Heritage Inn before. I was greeted by the desk clerk by name, a letter from the manager thanking me for my return visit, and a small goodie bag. Had a great night's sleep, and refreshed for our continued journey in the morning after a hot breakfast.
The room was really lovely. Linens & furniture updated and clean. Even the sleeping pillows were arranged with such care and visual appeal. I did not care for the continental breakfast, but the woman who worked there did a nice job with what she was given to serve. Really a nice surprise! Good value.
Surprisingly a busy stop. (If they are full there is another motel opposite which apparently takes the overflow. Didn't price/visit that motel.) Choice of eating at this exit is IHOP, Subway or Jack In The Box. The motel is, as previous travelers reported; an excellent choice for a comfortable stay. The two story facility doesn't have an elevator. Suggest calling ahead if you haven't already made a reservation. Their centrally located ice machine strains to produce ice later in the evening, so get your ice bucket filled upon arrival. The breakfast was far better than expected. Noteworthy were the English Muffins (and other pastries) individually wrapped made by a California bakery. Good choice of all sorts breakfast eateries. The breakfast staff keeps things stocked and keeps the place neat and clean. Bottom line....if it is time to stop for the night you'll like this place.
Not a lot business around the facility except short order and gas stations. The friendliness of the staff, the room cleanliness, the bed, pool, et. al. make up for any minor short coming. Particularly liked the size of the room, was far from cramped. Bathroom not much different than the average, i.e. small with sink outside of tub area. Only shortcoming was that the ice machine dispensed very little ice but that could be a customer fault. Mostly a good experience for a single night to stop early and leave late before getting into the LA area.
Best Western was a great experience, clean, nice rooms at an amazing price! I have stayed at way more expensive hotels & this was just as nice. Great customer service & great location near freeway. If I am ever close to here again, definitely will be back!
Hotel was clean, good amenities, comfortable beds, quick and easy check in/check out and phenomenal service and staff. If I ever pass through Bakersfield California again I will be staying at the Best Western Hotel. Great price, quality and excellent service I do not get at other hotels.
Needed a place for a night for work. If I do not need an extended stay hotel with a kitchen I usually stay at a BW. The people here were great and the bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast that was good. It included hard boiled eggs instead of the fake eggs and there were waffles.
We ended up in an upstairs room, paid extra for a 'spa' room (99) that didn't get used...we just needed a bed and bathroom for the night. Room was OK, shower dripped (remember CA has a water shortage), breakfast was very minimal...nothing hot. Rolls & muffins, think there was cereal. Hopefully won't go back. stayed thinking we'd get the 50 card on 2nd visit (later in same trip...still no word on that).
Husband and I are OTR drivers and stay in motels about once a month. I have never reviewed a motel before but felt compelled to do so due to the outstanding customer service we received from Kim at the front desk. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable.
We arrived in early evening hours as we were on a very long drive. We found the place to be quite clean, nicely decorated, and they have very nice staff. Their continental breakfast bar had enough variety that the family was satisfied.
Clean, inexpensive and well presented. Everything you need on a layover en-route to your destination. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location to freeway made for convenience without much noticeable noise from the passing cars. Rooms are clean and simple.
Needed a place late in the day. At first there were no vacancies. Before we could drive away, the night clerk came running out to tell us of a cancellation. This was above the call of duty. The breakfast was adequate to get us started the next day. It was a good value.
The staff is pleasant and cooperative; the room is most adequate for overnight stays; the breakfast is appreciated along with the in room coffee. There is desk space and a comfortable chair but probably would not fit long term needs. Great, however, for overnight stays.
Hotel is good, very clean and right by the I-5. Not much places to eat, but for 1 night it's good. We didn't use the breakfast, but they have a small dining place right in the lobby. Coffee maker is available in the room.
Comfortable room (#109), great air conditioning, clean and neat with nice beds and furniture. BUT some basic maintenance issues need to be addressed though. Peeling paint in bathroom, cracked/missing caulking, minor stained walls, carpet needing cleaning, etc. This is an older Best Western and very convenient on highway 5 in Calif but some small issues keep this from being very good/excellent rating.
We had been traveling for over a month in NV and AZ. We were on our last leg before returning to home in the San Francisco Bay Area. This hotel was right on I-5 for a quick start in the morning (to avoid any town traffic). Exceptionally clean and very quiet. Room for us included a Best Western Welcome Package for BW card holders (granola bars, water, cookies) and breakfast in the morning. Was a great stop for a morning quick start home! Would recommend for a "pit stop" on I-5 travel - as very far from much else.
I arrive late evening after driving up from LAX and was greeted warmly and efficiently. The room and breakfast were as I expected being a regular in Best Western's. I slept well and left early for the run north. The hotel has rooms on two floors accessed from the parking lot and has no lifts. If you struggle with stairs and luggage I would recommend making a special request for a ground floor room. Overall a good overnight stop.
I booked the BWHI for a planned overnight stop on my drive from San Jose to Riverside CA. I wanted a location that would be on I-5 and which would permit me to get through the LA metro area traffic within 2 hours. Having read the earlier reviews on TA the BWHI seemed well suited for my needs. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. My room (103) was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff was friendly and courteous. As a BW Rewards member I was given a "welcome bag" that contained snacks and a personally addressed letter from the manager. The BWHI isn't your typical interstate truck stop motel; and its moderate price point makes it an excellent value.
Our room was clean, the staff was excellent. It was nearly twice the price of the other motels in the (very remote) area, but it was still reasonable and a good value compared to similar properties nearby.
I know we shouldn't expect a whole lot from a place like a Best Western, but for some reason I remember them being a bit better than this one. This place feels more like a truck stop. My wife and I planned to stay here for an overnight stay on our trip down the I-5. First of all, this motel looks much better in the pictures than in person. While the room and bathroom was quite spacious, there was an odd smell of "old folks home" when we walked in. Not dirty, but I think it might be whatever chemicals are used in cleaning the room, or maybe it was the carpet. Not sure. There was also a giant crack in our ceiling and a strange attic door over the bed. This was a bit unsettling. The TV channel options were very VERY limited. We were surprised (and incredibly disappointed), especially being in a place where there is literally nothing else to do but sit and watch TV. The beds were decent. Not wonderful, but was able to get a decent night's rest. They do offer a late checkout (as late as 1PM) in case you really wanted to sleep in. They offer a disappointing continental breakfast. While I have had continental breakfasts before, this had to be one of the worst. I've never seen each pastry or bread item individually wrapped before. And everything tasted old and mediocre. The best part were the "make-your-own-pancakes" (not waffles...pancakes). Just push a button and wait a couple of minutes for it spit out two small rubbery pancakes onto your paper plate. The eating area was incredibly small and cramped...a small corner of the lobby. They also have an attendant watching us like a hawk, I guess to keep people from eating too much food(?). Very awkward and uncomfortable. Oh, and after all that, we were still hungry. So much for the included breakfast. We ended up having to buy out later. Bottom line is that while this place did the job of providing a place to sleep the night for me and my wife, it certainly would have been better for us to cough up a couple of extra bucks to stay at a nicer place in downtown Bakersfield. Even if they didn't include breakfast, we would have to buy something anyway. Stay here only if you're desperate.
This is a perfect place to stay the night after a full day of driving, and refreshing for another day on the road. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The breakfast was ample and very satisfying. We will definitely be back the next time an I-5 roadtrip calls for a pit stop.
We were tired of driving, just pulled off the road not knowing what to expect and found this Best Western next to a Vagabond Inn and decided to stay. We are crazy travelers, we don't always make reservations, we take our chances with familiar chain hotels, so we know a good find when we find one. The rooms were very clean, spacious, the customer service was super nice and a breakfast menu included food for people with food sensitivities. The seating area was small for breakfast, two small tables and a coffee table with a couch and a couple of chairs. They offered gluten free baked goods and almond milk which I have never seen offered at free breakfasts. Great Place to stop off if you are ever on I-5 and need to stop off. Ask for the Manager Special, it's better than AAA discount.
If you're making a trip from the Bay Area to LA, this is a decent family friendly option for an overnight stay. Don't judge a place on its exteriors. While exterior looks a bit dated, the rooms are clean and continental breakfast is surprisingly decent. Also, the access to I-5 is very helpful.
Had a good experience at this hotel. We checked in at 3am, the clerk was prompt in getting us checked in and gave us extra bath towels. The breakfast options were decent and they even had gluten free muffins on offer. The road noise from I5 was tolerable and we were actually able to rest at this hotel. Thank You!
Good clean reasonable property right on the freeway. Clean quiet rooms Excellent for an overnight stay while on the road. Good value for the money Sorry I didn't get to use the pool, looked clean and well kept
Nice clean room with easy access to highway. Typical Best Western breakfast of cereal, make yourself pancakes, hardboiled eggs, and muffins. Easy walk to a small selection of fast food places including Subway where we like to grab a salad
Again, after a long day of driving I-5, we were looking for a place to rest right on the freeway. This was great. We weren't bothered by the noise and the AC worked just right. The room was amply spacious and clean. The beds, although wasn't like home, sure got us the rest we needed. Breakfast in the morning sent us on our way with fully tummy's too. We'll be returning on our next driving vacation through the area.
We have stayed here 2 years in a row on our way from Palm Springs to Portland. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful with all our needs and questions. There are only 3 basic fast food restaurants at this exit but we were thoughtfully provided with a list of restaurants just a few minutes up I-5.
Clean, quiet, convenient & safe. They even have almond milk! The Desk clerk went out of her way to find my best western membership # which always seems to be "lost" when I try to get points for my BW stays. Pool looked clean & water hot. Cold fridge, micro & coffee maker in room. Thx??
Great place to stay, clean, close to the freeway, restaurants and gas available. Professional run with excellent customer service. Definitely would stay again if in the area. Only thing disappointing was there was no elevator to get to the second floor so it was a challenge if you have heavy pieces of luggage.
This was at end of day one on way to Arizona. Very easy to locate & get checked in for the night. Welcomed with warm cookies. Very tasty. breakfast was usual menu but tasty. Always a great chain for the value.
We traveled with a small dog and experienced some pet friendly rooms you could tell were Pet odor rooms. Not here! It was a great choice off the free-way. Although, the dog could hear the traffic, I could not.
Easy on-off I-5 after/before Grapevine. Extra large rooms, friendly staff. Pool in season. (Hotel is not on route of I-99 to Yosemite.) Several restaurants nearby. Comfortable bed and lighting with plenty of parking.
Nice, spotless room, great service, fantastic breakfast with a large variety of foods and coffee. Only complaint, ceiling fan buzzed and rattled. So close to freeway there is road noise if the window is open.
We needed to stay overnight before continuing our trip and this was a very comfortable room and bed. We did have very noisy neighbors upstairs but that could not be contributed to the hotel quality; just heavy footed individuals!.
I booked this hotel from Best Western App after a long day and couldn't drive any longer. The hotel was convenient to the freeway, the lobby was nice, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The price was great, I would stay here again if I am in the area
Had an okay stay att this hotel. The staff were friendly and the parking was free and good. The room was clean but a little bit old. The Bathroom was ok and clean. The breakfast is minimalistic and not so nice but it works. It was safe and not noisy.
It's a clean, reasonable highway overnight stop. On this stretch of I-5 (Buttonwillow to west Bakersfield), your choices are between this and the Vagabond Inn, Motel 6, Super8, Econolodge - all around 80-90 minutes north once you get out of the LA grind. I would generally consider BW a little better then those others. There's a few similar options 45 minutes back at Grapevine (Ramada, HI) so it's a matter of where you'd need to rest. Although it's also worth mentioning that depending on the time of year, you may smell a bit more of the farm life on this stretch of the highway, YMMV. Still, this Best Western seems as if it's been remodeled or well cleaned in the past couple of years - furnishings, carpets, upholstery is all in nice shape, clean, well lit, and maintained so worth the few dollars more than the Vagabond next door. You might get a little highway noise but I didn't notice it. Decent amount of space, internet access, standard self-serve breakfast options, otherwise there is an iHop just down the street. Kids happy. Momma happy. Dad too. Used this for the standard Disneyland run, as I see others have as well. ;)
We reserved this hotel for a quick night's rest on our drive to Disneyland. We stopped in around 10:30pm, had a quick and painless check-in, and found our room easily. Our three kids were sleeping in the car, but woke up when we went inside our room. Our heater quickly warmed up the room, which was decently sized, and contained two clean, comfortable queen beds. There was a desk with a chair, and another large chair. The sink was large, and bathroom was average sized, but everything was clean and set up nicely. We couldn't find cartoons on tv, but it wasn't too bad. We woke up around 6am, showered, and headed to breakfast. It was a simple, free breakfast in the lobby including coffee, limited pastries, apples, bananas, yogurt, and a made to order DIY pancake machine. The breakfast was a nice touch to a decently priced room so we could fuel up before getting on our way to L.A. We would be glad to stay here again on our way down south.
After Driving about four hours from San Diego we decided to take a break for the next day and stop here. I got out of the car to a bad smell. I joked about it to the lady at the front desk and she said that there is a dairy down the street. To be expected in Bakersfield. We get to our room and to our surprise it was real nice for the middle of no where. I would stay there again. My two pugs like it too!!
Our stay started out poorly and got worse. It took 18 miles on local roads to reach here from CA58. This is not all their fault but it wasn't fun. I had received two e-mails from Best Western saying they were excited about our upcoming stay with them. I wasn't very happy when I arrived and it took 10 minute to prove I had a reservation ..... thank God I had saved a copy off the internet. The room was run down and in a poor area of town. The free breakfast next morning was so crowded (very small eating area) and looked so unappetizing we ate at the IHOP around the corner. The only good item was that it sits on Route 5 and we had no trouble getting started on our next part of the trip. Would not stay here again ..... too old and too expensive ($100).
This Bakersfield Best Western hotel is TERRBILE - stay anywhere else!! There is no value here! We paid $100 for a night's stay - what a rip off! The bed was AWFUL (lumpy and the mattress was very uneven). The HVAC unit did not work properly (sounded like a jet engine taking off). The room was dirty, the shower pressure nil and the bathroom sink plugged up (did not drain).
The staff here at Best Western Heritage Inn, Bakersfield, CA are so very nice and genuinely care about my stay and the quality of the hotel for their customers. I will stay at this Best Western again, and again and again....
Staff was very courteous, room was spotless, and bed was very comfortable. Had separate bathroom/shower with sink outside and lots of counter space. Very pleasant stay, although pretty much in the middle of nowhere. If you stay, try the Willow Ranch Restaurant at the next exit north.
I've stayed at this Best Western several times on my California trips. This Best Western is very clean, very up to day. Comfortable beds, pillows and they have remodeled the rooms to keep it up to date. The only complaint I have is that every time I picked my phone up, I had to re log into the internet which was a pain. I would stay here again for the price and value. Overall, it's a clean and quality Best Western
We chose Best Western as it appeared to have decent ratings and was a convenient stop over for our driving holiday. We had the Spa Suite (107) - it was spacious with a very comfortable king bed, flat screen, big open plan bath and decent wifi. Bed sheets could do with a replace, they were a little pilled and worn. Continental breakfast was the usual fare, but the little muffins seemed a day or two past use by, I can't quite find a hotel chain that delivers fresh muffins daily, so if anyone knows of accommodation that does, please inbox me. Hotel is dated, but warm and friendly enough. It's not designed to be the destination, more a good night's sleep on your way to a destination. Scary toilet though, it sounded like those you find on a large jet plane. The sound is almost deafening and it was a shock to the senses during the night time, er....constitutional...... Photos of this room are available upon request.
This hotel is a great pick if you are driving from Southern CA to Northern. It is clean, comfortable bed and breakfast is on par to other hotel breakfasts. There's an Ihop close by if you want something more. Other than Ihop and Jack in the Box there isn't much around, but other than that it was a great stay! Friendly Staff makes it even better!
I guess people don't know about this very nice Best Western out on Interstate 5 just west of Bakersfield. We found it by luck and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice rooms and super service. Breakfast was more than adequate. IHOP was actually pretty good for diner. Your only other choice is Jack-in-the Box or Subway. This is an excellent hotel if traveling along 5. Other than the 3 restaurants and two gas stations there is nothing here.
The room was very spacious and clean. Refrigerator and microwave a plus. Right next to I-5 but other than that in the middle of nowhere. One other hotel, two gas stations, Jack-In-The-Box, Subway, and IHop are the only things within miles.
clean and comfortable just not much around the hotel its a good stop if your just to tired to go any farther, over all its clean beds are good don't open the windows fowl smell of cow urine and your very close to the freeway its noisy outside but quiet with doors and windows closed not my first choice but its OK.
I have stayed at many Best Westerns around the world and this is one of the best no complaints, was very surprised after all it is Bakersfield when traveling to or from SF make sure to stop here and Harris ranch
A small, but very clean room. Perfect for our needs. Courteous and helpful staff and a very good breakfast comes with the room. Truly a pet friendly place with plenty of places to "walk" your dog. I good value and I would recommend it for anyway with a requirement to stay for a night.
Too close to I-5. Passing trucks shook the room non-stop all night. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The rooms and beds were Ok for the price, which was well below what we had paid our whole 2 week trip.
Best Western Heritage, Bakersfield, CA is an excellent place to stay while transversing on Hi 5. It is well located, clean, nicely priced, and the staff is great. I was much impressed with how clean and orderly the hotel was and how well stocked the breakfast room was. The clerk who booked our reservation and checked us in was very helpful.
We were on our way to Oregon and needed to stop for the night. we used the 800# service for Best Western to locate a place close to where we were on our trip. They found and reserved the Best Western Heritage Inn in Bakersfield. We were pleasantly surprised by the room, cleanliness, friendly staff, etc. Breakfast was good - with a little something for everyone. Surprisingly - next to the freeway but no freeway noise. Was a great place for a brief overnight stay.
The motel is clean and reasonably appointed. It could definitely use a strip outlet near the desk inn the rooms. All of the towels are of decent quality and the shower head has a pulsating feature desired by the long distance traveler. The bedding as well as the bed was first quality and the flat screen accompanied the Direct TV service. The down side to this property is there are two filling stations that sell fuel at a ridiculous price, so fill up before getting here. There isn't a great choice for restaurants (Jack In The Box and IHOP) and delivery out here is out of the question. The breakfast is basic but good and the staff and management are very attentive. Stayed two nights this trip and that included Labor Day. Would come again!
