Je m’inscris Ask for a newer more modern room in the main building. The others are old- timey row rooms from years ago. But still nice. Parking is good and plentiful. The hotel is easily seen for I-25. Go into town to eat dinner unless you like Taco Bell or KFC, which are the only choices near the property. WiFi is free. But it was difficult to connect to and to know if the connection was secure. There was noise in the night which woke us up. Next door guests came in at 3AM with door slamming. The loud conversation and moaning in pain sounds for longer than an hour. There is also a $50 deposit/credit card hold required against your stay lest the room be damaged or something taken. This is released when you check out. You are not told in advance when booking about this unpleasant surprise. The breakfast is included with your stay. Helpful front desk personnel changed a light bulb and offered some area information
We chose the Best Western on our way to Colorado as it is the only one for several miles and we hoped to get as far as possible on our drive from DFW to Crested Butte. The staff was very helpful there, from the evening clerk to the breakfast cook the next morning. Our room had a bed in the main room and another in an attached room where our teens enjoyed their own space. We had one issue with the heater in our room, which required help from the front desk clerk. Overall, the BW provided a fine enough stay that met our road trip needs.
PROS clean very large rooms quiet hot breakfast with omelettes to order Friendly staff CONS pricey for a BW that isn't in a urban area scratchy sheets This is a completely updated and renovated facility. The rooms are large and there is always plenty of parking after 8 pm (which isn't something that can be taken for granted!) Staff is friendly and responsive. The only suggestion I had was slightly better quality sheets. This is a old BW motor hotel (old school where you park in front of your unit and walk in from a central court). It was updated and the rooms were very large. Carpet in the rooms was new and clean and updated lighting and decor. Since I was traveling with my husband, it wasn't an issue but I guess I am used to urban hotels where access is limited to people who have keys and all exterior doors are secured. While Walsenburg is a safe town, if I were a single woman traveler, I'd request a room inside the main building proper which requires key access to enter since the hotel is pretty close to some major roads. There aren't many choices in Walsenburg which may be why I paid significantly more than my last BW stay (Aurora CO) Generous hot breakfast where a staff member made omelettes to order. Pancake machine and a well appointed breakfast buffet.
Their three beds room is a single queen room, a two-queen room with only one bathroom between the rooms. Not a very convenient set up. The room had the distinct smell of mold, old smoke, etc. The decor is dated and could use a complete makeover. Overall, not BW's most pleasant hotel. This one needs a lot of work. Plus, due to the area, the price seemed a bit high for the amenities, or lack there of.
This hotel gets a bad rap. It was clean, easy to find on Google, answered the phone because it's staffed 24 hours, and served a good breakfast with omelets made at your request. The staff was very nice, polite and friendly. We had a good night of sleep in a comfortable bed and did not hear our neighbors. Yes, $157 for a queen bed seems high compared w the non chain hotels in town but the non chains either didn't show up on maps or answer their phone. I marked it four out of five because of low light levels in the room and thin towels. We would stay again.
My husband and I stayed here while we climbed Humboldt Peak near Creatine and we had a very pleasant stay. The room was nice, modern, clean, and had all the amenities we'd like. There were bathrooms, water, and coffee in the common area. And the breakfast was full with eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits, pancakes, hot cereal, cold cereal, muffins, juice, etc.
Would not recommended this hotel. Room was not very clean and bedding was yellowed and older. Toilet didn't work. Had been on the road all day and no other hotel was available in the area or would have left. The staff at check in and check out were very courteous. That was the only positive above the hotel.
Rooms are clean. TV has good reception and tons of channels. Breakfast is beyond what you are expecting. It quiet and next to a gas station/ convince store if needed. Front staff know what they are doing and make check in/check out easy…even if your request isn't.
Right off of the Highway, and with food and fuel next door. Great option for saving some money on the Pueblo, CO rates just to the North on I-25. Front desk and breakfast staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a bit of an odd layout, and starting to show its age a little, but I still highly recommend it.
The staff were very friendly & accommodating, our room had a jacuzzi tub, we loved it. We loved the Indoor Pool & Hot Tub (not operational at the time) And the Breakfast were always good. We stayed from a week and enjoyed our stay. We will stay again, we travel to Colorado almost every year.
This Best Western was a great place to stay. The room was clean and all in order. The in person chef during breakfast was an extra plus to our family to have a fresh hot morning meal. The pool was a bit on the small side and not well lit at night time. Plenty of parking for our cars and if you have a trailer. Def. recommend.
Great staff, clean, comfortable quiet room. Pool was a bit chilly. Main breakfast dish was fresh and cooked for you!
The front desk ladies who checked us in and out were very efficient and very helpful. They were a delight to work with and took time to explain everything. We have stayed here several times over the years and have always had a good experience. We will be back.
My friend and I travel on motoercycles every year. We have found Best Western to be the bestexperience.
The hot breakfast, sandwiches and server was great!! Such a nice way to start the day. Unfortunately I don't recall his name but he was awesome! Thank you for the good service. We were able to get good night's rest along a 2500 mile highway trip.
Great place as a stop over in Walsenberg, Co - room was clean, and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included with a hot cooked meal. Felt safe in the area of the hotel. Within walking distance to 2 chain restaurants. Walsenberg is near the Great Sands National Park
The Breakfast lady 'A' was the BEST she goes above and beyond!! The room was pretty big and CLEAN. We really enjoyed it there. We had a fun and awesome time! Would recommend to anyone who wants to feel comfortable and relax. We really enjoyed our stay here at The Rambler.
Heather was awesome. Reservations got all messed up. Heather got it all corrected and made it a point to call me and update me on everything.
This is a great hotel. The parking is a little crowded, but it is acceptable and very nice to be able to walk in the room just a few feet from your vehicle. The internet seemed to lag more than expected, but again, not a big deal. If I were to have any real complaint or would be the prices which seemed particularly high. I do not appreciate that room rates go up for holiday weekends, but it is an industry problem.
Excellent and friendly staff.Clean and quiet room.Hotel amenities exceeded expectation.Breakfasy was amazing.Front desk fast friendly and knowledgeable.
The ENTIRE experience was GREAT!! The girls at the front desk were splendid!!! They were very professional, knowledgeable and were very responsive to my needs and questions!! Breakfast was GREAT!! That breakfast burrito was great and the guy making them was GREAT!! The breakfast was the best I've seen in a motel/hotel in YEARS. I would DEFINITELY stay here again. Make sure you get the SPA!!
They maintain clean linens and rooms, very friendly staff, and great breakfast. Pets are welcome. Free gifts for dog and us. With added heated pool and ice machine we could not ask for anything else. They go above and beyond. We always enjoy our stay.
The service and cleanliness of this place were top notch. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The kids swam in the pool and had a blast. Kids loved the breakfast waffles. The location was perfect for us as we were heading to the airport from south fork to Colorado Springs.
I just love the room options for a traveling family. We have stayed in the triple queen and the double king and slept well. Great pillows. All of the staff was so kind. Breakfast is wonderful. This is our go to stay when making a trip to Colorado from Texas!
Christina was super helpful on the phone when I inquired about availability of rooms. She held a room for me for an hour and a half to give me time to drive. When I arrived she had my room and lots of great information about the property and breakfast. My room was clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.
This was pet friendly and special path for dogs. Not much highway noise. Nice king size bed a With four standard size pillows. Lots of parking. The one chair that's suppose to be comfy.....ah no. Extremely nice breakfast both hot and cold, waffle maker etc but also there was a made to order sausage biscuit and gravy on weekends-- A#1!
The most friendly staff. Made the stay very enjoyable. Morning breakfast was one of the best. Better than any fast food you could get on the road. Beds very comfortable. Pillows were great. Rooms very spacious.
Average room but lady cooking breakfast was friendly and good! Need more items for breakfast that are not so sugary or carb loaded. No elevator at this location so request a lower level if you can't manage stairs.
We checked in mid evening, exhausted, and ready to pull food out of the cooler, eat, and sleep. The clerk at the front desk at the Rambler made it easy. This is the old fashioned kind of hotel where you park right in front of your room. Love it. Clean, well-maintained, fully stocked with soap and stuff. A wonderful pair of huskies showed up a few doors down. So gentle. We suspect they were being taken to shows. I really enjoyed all the dogs we met on this trip at different hotels, mostly Best Westerns. Dogs make traveling great.
Trip Advissor had a 4 star rating on this hotel. It was not. This is a older hotel in need of updating. Outside ok, but lobby clean but furniture was well past its usaable date in a 4 star hotel. Carpet was dated and miss mached of new and old. Linen was well used and not 4 star quality. matteress was newer, but bottom was old. Room furniture was not up to date. No charging ports that we found. In our opinion, this is a ok 2 star hotel. Very over priced for quality received.
Definitely stay here!!!! Clean rooms, super AMAZING breakfast such a great cook, very friendly staff, will make any accommodations needed by guests. Front desk- Mia is the sweetest & great customer service, goes above and beyond for guests. My husband & 2 boys have been staying here a lot while doing a job in town & this is by far the best hotel there. Everyone is so great. You won't be disappointed with your stay.
Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great! Impressed with the hotel over all. Hotel staff gave us free bottles of water, and accommodated us with whatever we needed. Maid service is not done unless you ask ahead of time, we did not realize this until we got back to our room and had no fresh towels, and bed had not been made.
Our room was a suite and it was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs and requests. The location was convenient too.
Great place to stay. We had two rooms. One with 3 queens and a full kitchen and the other was a two bed room. The Rooms were huge with lots of floor space. Beds were nice. Breakfast was awesome, menu of the day items were made to order.
Great clean place to stay. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The variety of breakfast each morning was super good. Great little workout room. Will definitely remember this place and stay here again.
We inspected the room before bringing our luggage in. The sheets on both beds had a lot of small, dark stains (blood?). We did not see any bed bugs but did not stay in the room more than 5 minutes. We left and did not stay the night. We did not want to risk it.
This Best Western is the only choice in town, so the outstanding customer service and friendliness of the staff is a quality of the company culture not competition. Clean rooms, good pillows, good breakfast!
Very comfortable beds; extremely personable staff; indoor swimming pool and hot tub was a hit! And breakfast was perfect. Loved that you could order something to be made for breakfast. Very close to eating establishments and convenience store.
This was for a one night stay while traveling. Room was great. They had typical continental breakfast BUT staff prepared us a hot breakfast bowl which was delicious. would recommend this as a nice place to stay at. o
Everything I had requested (ie. Water in my room) was honored. There was a gentleman that helped my son (12 yr old) get our suitcases up the stairs he was a guest but I know that if I asked the front desk staff, they would have been happy to help. The only complaint I have is that the only suites they have are on the 2nd floor and there's no elevator. I have to use a walker to help me get around but I made the decision to stay upstairs anyways. I travel with my soon to be 13 year old and it's important to give him his own space. The stay was amazing. The front desk staff helped me get upstairs with breakfast so that was nice.
I don't remember the name of the young man who checked us in. It was December 24th at 10pm. He was excellent! Everything was great! 10/10 I would recommend and stay again! He made sure we had break go bags even though we had to leave way before breakfast started.
Every aspect of my stay was excellent! From a well maintained campus to a welcoming, courteous and professional customer service team, a well equipped work facility but most importantly clean and well maintained rooms!
My stay was definitely unplanned. While driving around midnight, my semi-truck was the victim of a 70-90mph blast of wind that literally blew my truck off its wheels into the median of the interstate. Shortly after the accident, the State Police gave me a ride to the BEST MOTEL STAY OF MY LIFE. It wasn't the room (which was modern, very nice, and very clean). It was THE STAFF. It started with the gentleman at the front desk, he could tell this had been a VERY BAD day for me. I had a personal request that he went OVERBOARD to accommodate. In the morning, I expected the usual coffee, pastry, bagel, and cereal of a complimentary breakfast.... BUT NO.... they have a full kitchen next to the dining area and (that morning) were making bacon and cheese omelets (FRESH, not pre-cooked on a heated tray) for everyone that wanted one. Their maintenance guy offered (and I accepted) to take me back to my truck to get the rest of my belongings (that the State Police officer refused to let me retrieve!!) Thank you, Chewie!! My employer attempted multiple times to set up a taxi, Lyft or Uber ride but to no avail. The motel staff (the staff at the desk as well as the maintenance guy) all informed me that there are no such services available in or near Walsenburg. In the end, my wife drove the 5 hours up from Albuquerque to get me back home. It reminded me a little of a line in the Eagle's song, "Hotel California"..... "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." In the future, if I could never leave a motel, I would want it to be the Best Western Rambler in Walsenburg, CO. Those people are fantastic!!!
Room was very clean and staff was friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast was great, with the host making fresh french toast and sausage. The low review is due to an electrical outlet in the room making a constant buzzing sound that prevented me from getting any sleep all night.
We got in pretty late, but the staff was super friendly and kind. The suite was nice and clean. There were several breakfast options and even a cook that made our omelettes hot and fresh to order. It was a nice place to stay.
We booked into this hotel because it was Best Western on our way. We had problems with the TV and the front desk person fixed them. Also problems with the internet which he fixed when we checked in but after an hour or so it would not work. Since we were only staying overnight we never called him back. This is a kind of funny set up hotel/ motel Want of the rooms are sort of in an enclosed area with no windows towards your vehicle but instead on the back side of the room.
The overall appearance of the hotel portrays a decent upkeep of the facility inside and out. The bathroom was not clean and detracted from the experience. The rest of the room and the general facility was okay. There are not many hotel choices at this location. The hotel is located on the Business I-25 loop. It is convenient to access and has decent parking. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
A modern, well-planned, well-designed, comfortable place to stay. Large, comfortable rooms and excellent beds. The room furniture was new and modern. The staff was great also. They has an excellent breakfast bar and easy parking.
rooms seemed to be clean...last evening a horrible odor as we entered one of the 2 adjoining rooms. Late at night so did nothing. Next morning the smell of something dead permeated one of the rooms. Breakfast: coffee cold when first put out, none of the 3 cereal dispencers worked, one day of our stay the waffle makings had a white substance floating on it, eggs were not available on all days...had to specially request a burrito...first place I have stayed that had no scrambled or hard boiled eggs for the guests...I grabbed the ONLY package of instant oatmeal.. When I called to find out the check in time, I was told my reservation had been canceled. NOT BY ME. This also happened to another woman. SHe had booked a double. When she arrived she was told that her reservation had been canceled. NOT BY HER. She ended up traveling alone. SHe then requested a single room and was told there were none available so they put her in a double and charged her for two occupants.
The staff was exceptionally efficient, the chef definitely loves her job and the room we had was excellent! After a long day's drive it was very welcomed. Beds excellent, clean and comfortable! Thank you!
This is our second year staying here. We stay for multiple days. The staff is great! I would recommend staying here when you are in the area. Three Sister's Restaurant that is located a few miles away is a great place to eat also.
Poop on bathroom floor, blood spatter on wall, tv remote won't work. The view out our only window was piles of garbage and old pallets and dirt piles. The breakfast was good and the hosts for breakfast were very nice.
The safe was very helpful and friendly. The rooms was clean and had plenty of coffee. They had coffee up front all night that was kept fresh which a lot of hotels do not offer this. Comfortable beds and pillows.
Clean and quiet room. It was cool when we arrived even though it was a hot day. The pre-check in procedure was efficient and made getting to our room fast. We did not eat breakfast at the motel, so I cannot comment about the food, but it is always good to have the option.
People were nice. Room was clean. Toilet was broken and I had to repair the handle and seal. Clerk was informed of toilet problem at check-out and he recorded it. Other guests were barbecuing outside their room and smoke/odor was getting into our room.. Breakfast food was not good, Made on-site egg burrito tasted stale. Coffle was not good.
The hotel was conveniently located. The staff was courteous, professional and pleasant. The breakfast sandwich which was made to order was very good. The room and lobby was clean. The place was quiet.
I was surprised staying at this hotel. Room was very clean, plenty of towels and very comfy beds. I needed extra coffee packets for my room and the front desk handed over several. Changed my mind about little hotels and I would go out of my way to stay at this one again. Cheers!!
To be completely honest, we were worried as we pulled in to this hotel out in the middle of nowhere. However, glad we did because we had a very comfortable stay in a clean room & service was exceptional!! Breakfast was a little skimpy but it was a very busy weekend with all hotels completely booked in all surrounding towns and it was more important to me that the rooms were clean & comfortable.
The rooms were clean, but the door leads directly to parking, parking was dark, bathroom is tight, low quality linens. generally unappealing. Practically only game in town. !!!! only good for one night
Thin walls, but quiet at night. Convenient to the interstate. Our king room was reasonably sized but the bed wasn't very comfortable. Breakfast is OK if you ask them to make you eggs. Didn't really seem worth $188 dollars.
We had a great stay! My families room was clean, breakfast was delicious. The front desk staff was kind and professional. The omelet was the perfect start to our day. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
The staff is fantastic. Friendly and knowledgable. Rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not what I expected. I prefer more of a selection. We were there on Breakfast Burrito day and I would not recomend it. Overall very nice.
The people where great, the room was nice and clean the bed was comfortable. But the breakfast was a disappointment. It lacked the basic breakfast item, no cereal, no real yogurt, not even milk. We have stayed there before and the breakfast was great.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Check in was easy and convenient. The staff was helpful and very friendly. We enjoyed a delicious freshly prepared breakfast in the morning. We also had a variety of continental breakfast items. The hotel was quiet and we were able to relax and socialize in the lobby. Overall our experience was very nice.
Seemed a little overpriced and pet fee much too high considering the size and location of the pet exercise area. Room was adequate. Bed comfortable. Good TV and does have USB ports available. Good location.
We were having a tough trip home from Arizona and were both exhausted. Rough experience with a “less expensive” hotel the night before and an unexpected ER visit that morning wore us out. I don't recall the name of the receptionist Saturday evening, the 19th, but she was so gracious and helpful, I'd hire her away from you in a heartbeat if I was still working. The gal making breakfasts for everyone this next morning was the same way. I suspect these two women represent a very good manager running this facility. We've had some poor experiences with BW over the years and have generally only turned to you for lodging as a secondary option. But this experience will put you back on our primary list of choices going forward.
The room reeked of mildew and cigarette smoke. It was dark, dingy, and outdated. The blankets were thin and shabby. The internet was terrible. It was cold. When I expressed my concern about the smell they offered to move us to another room of the same quality and assured me both were non-smoking rooms. They were less than helpful. And the room was $170+ per night! La Quinta is significantly less expensive and soooo much nicer. Stay someplace else and save money and yourself some aggravation.
Hotel was very clean and staff was very helpful. Nice place to stay. Breakfast was very the good. The chief was very helpful, she would make you hot and fresh hot sandwiches. Down side breakfast to many kids running around lithe dining area and parents did nothing.
Cost to much for what you get. After dealing with a broken remote, dirty towels, and pubic hair all over the shower I was very disappointed to find out I also paid for use of a hot tub that is broken. And at $130 for all this I would at least like some scrambled eggs in the morning. Maybe a lower rate since I couldn't get what I paid for.
The staff members Elizabeth Dubey, Heather and Quinton were very courteous and helpful while our family stayed to attended our family member funeral. The breakfast was Great and where are room was located was perfect to wake up and see the mountains every morning. I'd definitely recommend staying again in the future.
This Hotel needs some updating!! Room was clean; bathroom was tight and difficult to maneuver; free breakfast selection was not great (mediocre hot breakfast); room furnishings were sparse if you spent any time in the room; noisy AC
We pulled in early evening on a Friday after making reservations prior to arrival. Lobby is nice, we were warmly greeted by the person in the lobby. Room was clean, comfortable and just what we needed after a day on the road. We opted for the 2nd floor, which may not be an option for some because of no elevator, but it worked for us. Upper floors we find to be quieter. Water pressure in the tub/shower was weak, making it difficult to wash and rinse long hair, but all was clean and tidy.
After reading lots of negative reviews, I wasn't sure we wanted to stay at the Best Western Rambler, but there are not many choices in the area. I booked an inside king room online, no pets allowed. Upon arrival, we were told there was no elevator, which was not a problem for us. I am pleased to report that the room was clean, comfortable, and the staff helpful. I did however, observe a guest walking her dog up the stairs shortly after we checked in. We were offered a tasty hot breakfast bowl in the morning along with the usual breakfast items... good coffee. No one wore a mask, either the guests or staff.
After a long day on the road, checking in was a ‘welcome' experience! Mia (?), the young woman at the front desk, was friendly, smiling, and upbeat and made for a positive first impression. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The young lady who served and oversaw the breakfast offerings (Ariana ?) was super attentive and anticipated guests needs. The hotel property layout offers plenty of room for parking and was clean, trash free and well lit. I felt safe walking my dog.
We found ourselves broken down and stranded in the middle of Walsenburg with 2 dogs and no where to go. The front desk agent, Mia, was super friendly and helpful in assisting us with a last minute room. She even helped us find a ride from our car to the hotel. She turned a stressful situation into a memory that will last a life time. Thank you, Mia!
Hotel is right off the hwy. we had a small outside room around the back and it was very quiet. It seemed clean for an older room. Staff was friendly but no one was wearing masks even though we wore ours. Convenient to park right next to our room and have a microwave and fridge. We didn't use the pool or partake in the breakfast so the price was higher than I would have liked for a one night stay. I have no complaints for a 3 star hotel.
Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and homemade biscuits and gravy free for breakfast along with juice, fruit, and the usual buffet. The staff is so nice too. Have been here many times and it's always a great experience.
Fur babies are allowed. They are very reasonably priced for pets. I only like to stay at places that allow pets even if I travel without them which is rare. This place was very clean and the front desk lady was exceptionally nice.
This was a 60s (m)hotel .The mattress was from the 50s with a 1998 cover. Basically had a spring in my back all night. We kept all the luggage outside in our the trunk of the car.(fear of wat bugs was there). I spent 185$ and wasnt even in a building. Theres a strip of rooms right around back. We parked directly in front of our hotel room. This place shouldnt have Best Westrens name. Someone bought into there name Im guessing but just go directly somewhere else thats 29.99 please use google maps and do a satilite view from the front. And the a/c was built for a r/v not an actual building
Amazing low price for room large enough for my family of 6 and then some. Breakfast was amazing. Best homemade breakfast sandwiches ever. Only downside was the spa was broken and the pools shallowest end was 3 1/2 feet so my kids had to stay on the steps the whole time.
Staff both check in and out were very pleasent and professional. My room was perfect for my one night stay, clean, comfortable bed, wonderful pillows (no problem when I asked for an additional one) and everything worked!! Nice little breakfast offered with one hot cooked entree item (biscuits and gravy were very good) Check in and check outs we're seamless and the Office center computer and printer worked flawlessly! Prices are on the high side, personally I think all motels are charging more and offering less "due to the virus". All in all.....Thanks Rambler!!
Part of this is a very old motel sort of hotel—think classic Route 66 sort of building. There's a newer hotel style part as well. It's likely updated, but we stayed in the old part. It was quiet and the room was big. The furniture is very retro, so I couldn't figure out if it was meant to feel rustic or if it was just old. There was a dead bug in the bathroom, but he was dead, so not a big deal. Pet friendly, but not much grass to walk the dog. The worst part of this Best Western is its location. The town is pretty dumpy so don't expect to eat there—make sure you've eaten on the road or bring your own (there is a microwave and fridge). The hotel itself is next to a Taco Bell and KFC combination and a gas station which has some other fast food option. We drove into town hoping for a decent meal and there was really nothing to be found. The town simply did not feel safe and I would like to add that if we were a family of color (esp. a Black family) the town would DEFINITELY not have felt safe.
We were given a old, filthiest room we have ever seen for $200 per night. The room had old furniture with chips and stains, intolerable musty odor, broken AC unit, used feminine products in cabinet. Felt like a dirty room from the 1970's. Only reason, I am giving 2 star review vs. 1 , is due to the staff allowing us to switch room to a cleaner, interior room attached to the building. But do not stay in one of the exterior rooms with exterior entrance! Literally nastiest hotel room I've ever seen! Needs major renovation and remodeling. The rooms are also overpriced for the lack of quality, including the interior rooms. Will never stay here again. For $200 per night, completely unacceptable! Strongly do not recommend this motel!
This looked like the top hotel in Durango to stay. We spent several hours trying to get the internet in the room connected including calling the help desk number the front desk person gave us)and finally had 1 bar later evening which then dropped in and out (and there was none the next morning!). The room smelled like it hadn't been used for some time — stale air. Lighting above the sink was poor making it hard to take out contacts and put them back in. Only 2 small pillows on queen bed (these were not even regular size pillows!). Excellent was the mini frig with a small working freezer space at the top that actually refrozen our ice packs overnight. Bfast was light, but fine. Checkin and checkout staff were great. Cleaners were starting to clean rooms as we left and it was great to see th3m wearing masks!
We stayed in this establishment the first week of May – and is one of the filthiest hotels I've ever seen. I emailed the GM Diana Cupps about the dirty issues and she has yet to respond. I've waited and waited. I've given her the benefit of doubt, but now it's the end of June and still nothing. To wait this long is a clear indication of her carelessness. Her inability to direct and follow through is nothing short of deplorable. The breakfast too was quite unimpressive. The Governor of Colorado has dramatically relaxed the rules for COVID, as I'm sure travelers already know. In this hotel, there were no tables or chairs to sit and have breakfast. Instead, there is a hot breakfast “to go”. At check in, we were not advised that breakfast would *only* be for take-out. The next morning, the offering was biscuits and gravy. It's impossible to enjoy something like that while driving. What an image, huh? A fast-food place is highly recommended. Course, if you only eat a piece of fruit in the mornings, then at least there's that. No discounts were available ‘because they were full” I was told at - $150 a night for this nasty place. Egad. Here's lackadaisical response from my survey of them: Quote: "I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at 719 738 1121. Sincerely, Diana Cupps General Manager Best Western Rambler" end quote. Save your hard-earned money and stay anywhere else. Have a look at the pictures... What are they of you ask? I take a wash cloth, dampen it, and run it across the floor - once.
A less than standard BW. We won't stay here again. The room had a foul odor and the air conditioner must have been 50 years old. Very noisy. The internet connection was pathetic and intermittent. The bed linens, likewise, were as old as the AC. So thin there were holes in places. The towels were also threadbare and definitely in need of replacement. All in all an unsatisfactory experience we will not repeat with this BW.
We were traveling with three families from Missouri. We booked this hotel because of the indoor pool so kids could swim after driving ten hours. When we arrived we were told it was closed. At that point, every other hotel within a two-hour radius with a pool was booked up. We were so disappointed. I asked the team member working the front desk for a rate adjustment, and she said she would discuss it with her manager. No one ever followed up with us and the rate was not adjusted. Very poor leadership, customer service, and management. The hotel website features the pool and has no announcement that it is closed.
Overall, not bad. Walsenburg doesn't have a lot of options, and doesn't strike me as a city with a lot of luxury options. This is probably your best choice in town, or among the best. This facility was clean and well maintained, staff was very friendly and quick to respond to needs/questions. We had a room with a jacuzzi, which was a nice treat, but also took up enough room there wasn't a desk, and only one chair - both surprising, and made it a bit tough to catch up on computer work before relaxing. Kind of expected a bit bigger room, as a jacuzzi implies, a high-end room in my mind. But, not bad, it was clean and comfortable.
My sister and I were on a long road trip. We were supposed to arrive at 6:00 pm but road and weather conditions in the Rockies extended it by 6 hours. I called ahead several times to explain the delays and the staff were wonderful and kind. We drove in at Midnight tired and worn out with a sick dog. They got us in a room in record time. The hotel is not a young property but it was clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower had unending hot water!
My first negative review. We grabbed a pseudo-handicapped room at late notice, feeling very fortunate. However, the large room was in another building that was obviously much older and in poorer repair than the main building. Floors in the room were uneven and creaky, only 2 small pillows each on the queen and the king beds, and one of the faucets had such a fine, strong spray that it couldn't fill a cup without making a mess. The front desk person was very nice; he is the one bright spot of this sad place.
Your staff are among the friendliest I meet. I stay at your property 2 times a year and have always felt very welcome. Clean rooms, good breakfast and always served up with a smile. "the pack" and I will see you again this year.
Nice room. Great breakfast. Amazing service. Very Clean hotel. Great view of the mountains. Positioned perfectly at the cross roads of I-25 N/S and HWY 10 east to La Junta or HWY 160 west, to the great sand dunes.
These Guys are awesome. I Broke my ankle a month before visiting. When we got here the elevator was down. They changed out for us to the first floor but we were short a bed. The young man at the front desk comped a room. Apologized profusely and was so kind even with my being short with him Over the elevator. Kindness and patience was outstanding. Recommend this place over all here in Castle rock.
Both rooms in our reservation were infested with bed bugs. We were offered alternative rooms, but the staff could not guarantee the new rooms would not have the same problem. Our party checked out in the middle of the night and had to find alternative accommodations. When I requested a refund, the manager said she would only refund one room because only one guest had bites from the bugs.
Good location, friendly staff, and a nicely appointed room. My wife and I stayed here during a cross country trip and really just needed a room for the night, but it ended up being a great stay that we've come to expect from staying with Best Western.
The 1 king bed room was extremely over priced. The room was clean and everything worked, but it was no where near a room that one would pay $130.00 for. I had no choice so unfortunately I had to pay. In the future I will make other arrangements in advance before I pay that ridiculous rate again.
There is nothing worse than checking into a motel room, dog tired, and all of a sudden you begin to get congested, your nose has stopped up, you start wheezing and everything just comes to a halt. This is what happened in one of the rooms period there was a noticeable musty smell like mildew or mold but everyone was so tired that I just tried to fall asleep , exhausted from a long day. Couldn't sleep, developed a terrible headache, couldn't breathe had a terrible night sleep. Something is wrong in that room. Management was contacted and hopefully they will get that all straightened out without having to have the health department and a mold remediation team brought in.
The paint was peeling and the hotel has not been updated in years. There were 2 tiny pillows and no extra blankets for our King Sized Bed. The tub was slippery and I almost fell twice and there were only 2 shabby towels. The outlets on the bedside table only worked if the light was turned on, so nothing charged overnight.
The nice part was being able to have a drive up motel which is nice on a motorcycle. Everything was nice about the hotel except that there was no internet in the section I stayed at. When you pay this much for a hotel, not having internet service is unacceptable. The hotel credited my account with some points which is better than nothing.
We had a pet dog and were banished to the remote "Outhouse" rooms. Welcome to the 1950s decor. Room was stark and cold. I am a seasoned traveler and this room was not worth 1/2 of the $175 we paid. Drive further to get a better quality room
Loud air conditioners, overpriced. Person serving breakfast wasn't wearing mask and said COVID-19 was a Democratic hoax...Doesn't seem to be of the quality I would expect from a Best Western. Would not stay here again. Could pay half as much for the same room elsewhere
We just checkout out after a stopover en route to camping. The employees are working hard to make the experience as good as possible amidst COVID-19. They had exceptionally friendly attitudes, and their effort in making a challenging situation better show. In additionAndrea and Delilah has stellar hospitality skills! Pool and fitness facilities are closed, which is expected. Hot breakfast is available with fresh made sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits (English muffin), as well as grab and go bags with a water bottle, breakfast/granola bar, and fruit. Hot coffee was already flavored French vanilla, no black was served. The motel style with parking in the inner courtyard is ideal for having gear in our car. Our room had exterior entry, king bed, and was recently refreshed. We were really pleased with our stay - thanks to everyone!
I would not recommend this hotel for the price. The lobby is clean and updated but our room had a broken chair, light bulbs were out, toilet was broken, they gave us 2 towels for 4 people, and only a 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper.
This place doesn't offer much in terms of things to do. But for travelers and particularly truck drivers this hotel is great. Comfortable beds, great staff. Never actually had the breakfast, but they do offer a "go bag" and (they were doing this before the pandemic) for those that leave before breakfast and it does the job. Great place in the middle of nowhere, 3 hours from Denver and beautiful scenery.
No other hotel for 50 miles even compares to this place. Big, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Indoor pool and hot tub are open until 11 p.m. the complimentary breakfast includes all of the typical Continental breakfast selections, but also includes a daily, made-to-order, hot special.
This BW was very clean, convenient, and friendly!! We were travelling through and like small towns and support their economy. This hotel is a wonderful alternative! We were travelling through and like to stay in small
Like a truck drove through room. I have pictures. If you want a look at them just ask. The room was ok. Service was ok but driving up to the room and seeing what looked like construction but just the entry into my room. Was not warned about it either.
Nicest hotel/motel in the area, by far, and just slightly more expensive than it's it's much lesser competitors. Clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast...I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.
Loved having a fresh made burrito for breakfast. The chef even delivered to our table. Clean place and safe place. Person at front desk was extremely helpful, too and suggested restaurants to eat at. Note: not sure if it was the season but most of the restaurants were closed on a Friday evening?
An unplanned stay. BW Team Treated us like their best friends after an auto accident. Quick Check In and Check Out. Helpful team with Smiling faces all around. Comfort Food. Hot Breakfast or Continental, Wi-Fi etc.
Rooms were clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Building was clean. Breakfast was really good. We have stayed here 4 times in the last 6 months and each stay was positive. We chose the indoor rooms!
Very unique for a Best Western since it is like the old style motels (ranch with parking in front) or regular hotel style but all updated. It has everything you need from microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. Adam was a fountain of knowledge.
We stay here frequently when visiting family in the area, it is very convenient to I-25. We even have a favorite room, which the staff tries to accommodate our request. There is the usual breakfast offerings, and a hot waffle station plus a daily fresh hot breakfast cooked while you wait! Do be aware though that there is no elevator.
The breakfast was good. The pool was warm. The hot tub jets didn't work very well. Our bed was hard. Would prefer a softer bed. The front desk was helpful. Had a list of local places to eat with a map.
When we got up in the morning the toilet was not working and the bathtub was filling with sewer water. The front desk did not offer to give us another room just a small refund. The smell in the room was awful and sewer gas is not safe. We left at 6:30 am, not able to shower or get ready for the day. Very disappointed and unhappy.
I have stayed at the Rambler two times a year for a number of years. Their front desk staff is friendly, helpful and always welcoming. My room is always clean, bathroom spotless. The price was very fair and they are pet friendly. Breakfast is always good and the cook is smiling.
Outdated room for the price we paid. Plus flies in the room. Gross! For the hot breakfast, not all people want somebody else make their hot plate for them. We will never come back here again. I also do not recommend this place if you have a family like if you have kids.
I always read the reviews before booking a room. This motel had good reviews and I believe even a certificate of excellence if I remember correctly. The motel has a newer section and an old section with the doors to the outside. We were in the old section. It was fairly clean and looked like fairly new carpet but the room smelled. It definitely needed upgrading. Was not impressed. It was very overpriced for what you got. I don't know what the newer part was like. The newer part was the picture on the website. Looked like a nice motel when driving up to it, but then they put us in the old back part. You have to drive to the back as cannot get to it from the lobby or newer part. Back part was old and we were very disappointed. The receptionist was helping in the kitchen with breakfast, as there was only one in kitchen area. Wasn't impressed with the kitchen area. The receptionist was nice and friendly. I was disappointed in the reviews as I rely on them when booking. I will not stay here again.
You will not be sorry you stopped here! Great staff, great food and a good value for the money. The room was the quietest we have had in a long time - no road noise and no "neighboring room" noise! It was a little bit of a trick to find - if coming in FROM the north it will be easy, but if you are coming in FROM the south you might get confused - use the last exit for Walsenberg. You might think you are leaving the town area but it is on the edge of town after passing the first 2 exits. Only drawback was that the town offered very limited eating places close by.
Stayed here for 1 night while driving back home from a 2 week vaca. Horrible Best Western, not at all up to par! Super lumpy pillows, squeaky floors, bad breakfast and they really get you when staying on a holiday wknd. Would have never paid this price had I knows it was more of a crappy motel opposed to a hotel.
rooms were very small, as were the beds. advertised as queens, they are barely doubles. rooms were very clean, though dated. staff was courteous and efficient. perfect location for those leaving interstate 25 headed to places in central and northern Colorado. had the price been lower, this review would have been more favorable. due to the location on the interstate in Colorado during a busy time, they raised the rate to painful.
When riding on a motorcycle we sometimes get in a pinch for hotels. This was the closest chain place to us so we went for it....we were beat after a long day and a storm was coming in. We entered the lobby....no one there. We followed the instructions and called on their phone....no one answered. Called again....waited about 10 minutes....called again....another customer came in...he called...still no one. Finally after about 20 minutes here comes miss notpleasant....she seems as happy as a rattlesnake....no apology nothing. I let the other customer go first....we walked over to the pool area....the pool looked fine but the hot tub looked disgusting. Our choice was to stay at this place or hop on the bike andnride to pueblo about 40 miles north...to get away from this place we had to ride right into the teeth of a wicked storm, on a bike...and that was the better choice for us.
very clean and very helpful staff. They helped us extend our stay when it became necessary to spend an extra night. The breakfast was very good and coffee fresh and excellent. This INN is in very close proximity to good tourist locations
For a small town it was a little more expensive than I would expect. But it was a good stay, clean rooms /lobby. Breakfast was good overall, nothing fancy but tasted good. Staff was friendly, room overall was pretty big ( had a double king) . Beds were hard but ok for 1 night. I would stay here again.
We stayed at this Motel in May 2018 having visited the Great Sand Dune NP, The motel is on the highway, out of town, so if you wish to dine in the town there is a small drive. Accommodation and breakfast was average. The first room we were given had a plumbing problem but the staff quickly relocated us and were friendly.
Check in was awesome Breakfast was great Room dirty and out of towels. Spiders in room Not worth $144 a night for queen bedroom. Needs some updating in rooms like the lobby is done well. Need more handicap rooms
These would be the only reasons I would recommend staying. They have a lenient pet policy though not much grass space or an area to walk the dogs and they are a decent location to get up early and head to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The free breakfast wasn't too bad either and the staff were very friendly. Saying that, the bed was not comfortable and the room smelled as though someone was smoking in it before and they tried to cover it up with a different smell. The mini fridge and freezer also weren't cold enough to keep anything cold or frozen.
Easy access On and off the highway. Clean comfy rooms. Close to KFC and Taco Bell and gas station. The breakfast was the best part. They serve homemade to order omelets! Staff friendly and helpful. Would like better pillows- but just my presence.
Nice place for a nights stay. There is a new section and an old section, older part being left over from a days gone by. Old section is being worked on and shows in spots. Room was pleasant, but old school. Breakfast was a nice way to start the day.
Long stays would be a challenge. A/c was poor, towels are rough and barely bigger than a hand towel. Just an outdated hotel and seeing the area, I can see why but at least update the mecanicals. We reserved 5 rooms and they all had the same issues
The staff are terrific. Quin accommodated a switch in rooms. We prefer indoor doors and this place has both outdoor room doors and traditional hallway doors. We didn't realize and he accommodated our preference happily. Julie made a terrific breakfast and checked on us during breakfast. Ariana was kind and genuinely sent us on with pleasant spirits. All the staff knew each other and seemed to enjoy the services they provide. A happy work place produces great service! Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was the stand out memory though!
Rooms were clean, kinda small no desk in the room. The breakfast could have been better, but still a nice experience. Check-in was fast. Lobby area was clean and well kept. Wifi was spotty. Door to room did not always lock on first try.
Was very disappointed at rudeness and attitude of front desk! Woman in kitchen was so delightful she ALMOST made up for the rest of staff. Jacob(who answered phone that AM) was so upbeat and pleasant, I was looking forward to my stay-WRONG!!. He wasn't there when I arrived
No matter what time you arrive the staff will warmly greet you and the room will be clean - The views and small towns nearby will not disappoint. There is a pool with chair lift (ADA) and the property is easy to navigate - as well as feeling you have privacy in your room.
Older hotel, quite dated, but staff is great. Needed a place to stay during the bomb cyclone and they were very accommodating. Only $10 for pet charge. Hotel has pool, laundry and fitness center. Great restaurant downtown.
On our road trip and driving about four hours, we encountered a strong blizzard on the highway. We turned around for safety to the town we had just passed, Walsenburg. This was the only hotel open and were able to check in early while the storm cleared. We were offered to sign up to be a member and received a discount for our stay. We are so grateful. The room was clean and decent. The wifi at the time was bad but I assume it was due to the storm.
An unplanned stay that far exceeded expectations. The woman at check-in was extremely efficient, courteous, and helpful. Breakfast omelet (w/ REAL eggs) cooked and served by a cheerful and polite young man. The staff act as if they appreciate their jobs and appreciate your patronage. What a pleasant change from many other hotels.
We used the hotel for a one-night stopover on a long trip, and it served our purpose well. Clean, great location, easy parking, friendly service, and a price that was reasonable for what we needed. There are quick eats next door, and we had a quiet night of sleep before restarting our journey - we actually left before they started serving the free breakfast, but the coffee was great.
This hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Breakfast area has a good variety. There is even a cook making omelettes or burritos to order. A step above most chain hotels.
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Very helpful. Thought the price for the room was a little high for the area. Check in and check out were very enjoyable. Towels were a little rough. Coffee in the room was good.
My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Rambler in Walsenburg, CO on our way to and from a family visit in TX. It is conveniently about the 1/2 way point on our trip so it is a great stop for breaking up our trip. I have to disagree with a lot of the negative reviews...the rooms are clean and fresh, staff is very friendly and helpful. There are nice, sit down restaurants in Walsenburg...they are just not immediately next door to the motel...google restaurants and take your pick! The complementary breakfast is awesome and the staff accommodated our special dietary needs without hassle. The price was reasonable! Great place to stop, we will visit again!
I have stayed here multiple years as I come out yearly to visit family in LaVeta. The rooms are clean and quiet, the staff is always friendly, the breakfast is good. Will be back again in 2019 for the next trip.
After a long drive that ended well after dark with snow blowing across the highway, it was such a pleasure to discover this property that was only about 30 seconds off of the freeway. However, even though my window faced the freeway, the room was wonderfully quiet. Everything about the property was clean, convenient, and well maintained and the staff were friendly, none of which was a surprise. Best Western properties are very consistent in providing a high level of quality and service. The big surprise about the Rambler was their made-to-order hot breakfast. I entered the breakfast area at 6 AM and was just beginning to survey the offerings when up popped Lorenzo from behind a counter that I had not yet noticed. He asked if I would like a hot and fresh breakfast burrito and then offered a choice of ingredients. In my opinion, a breakfast burrito is just about the perfect breakfast food but you never see one offered as a complementary breakfast item. Lorenzo had it ready within minutes and it was one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a really long time. Kudos to Lorenzo and the rest of the Rambler staff for providing a very pleasant stay and the latest example of why I like the Best Western chain. You never know what you're going to get when you arrive at a property you haven't visited before, but you always know it will be nice and there's often some new or clever wrinkle on the typical hotel stay.
Not too much to do in Walsenburg -- however this Best Western offers a clean/quiet place to stop on that lonely stretch of road in south Colorado. A bit more upscale than you'd normally expect for a town this size. Several dining options close by . Adjacent gas station.
We stayed here during hunting season in October. We stayed in a Queen room. The room felt clean and roomy. The TV was analog so the images were stretched. The walls were thin and we could hear the neighbors coughing, talking and their tv. The bed was okay...not very soft. The breakfast was GREAT!! Fresh made to order biscuits and gravy. They also had the standard continental breakfast items. I felt like it was a little pricey, over $100.
I made the reservation direct with the property as I was having trouble with the website on my cell phone. The young lady who helped me with my reservation was so nice and patient with me. We got the room rate I was seeing on the internet and I was on my way. At Check-in the young man who was on duty was thorough, upgraded me, as I am a platinum member of Best Western Rewards. iThe room was newly remodeled and nicely decorated. I had actually stayed in that very room about 40 years ago. Bed was very comfortable. I didn't like the towels Breakfast was a delicious breakfast burrito. An unusualy touch, but much appreciated. Some properties just cannot figure out thee breakfast thing. The Best Western Rambler has got it down. From Starrt to finish, I would stay here in another 40 years.
My wife and I stayed here one night during our recent road trip. Ariana checked us in and she was very personable. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The HVAC worked well and the bed was surprisingly comfortable given that it was a spring mattress. The breakfast was outstanding in that it consisted of freshly made-to- order egg-cheese-bacon omelets with a side of hash browns. It would seem that there are daily freshly made breakfast offerings on a regular basis since the breakfast room has a built in kitchen service counter inside of the room. No powdered eggs here, only the real thing. If I were to visit the area again, I would definitely stay at this hotel. If you found this review helpful, please let me know by clicking on the thumbs up button below. Thanks!
07/2013 Owner's dogs ran around the property/pool area. Creepy experience. Was a place to stay-in town for a funeral-stayed there with other family members, but would not ever have stayed there otherwise
The hotel was very clean I had a great room and breakfast was the best I have had in a long time. I travel a lot and stay at many hotel chains. I will tell all my associates if in the area to stay at this hotel.
Was met by Ariane (hope that is right). She is a employee you want to keep! Good luck with that, this girl is going places. Best customer service ever at any motel we stayed at. Room very nice and clean, bed very comfortable. Breakfast was a surprise, we expected precooked omelets. A real cook was a surprise! Very nice young man and very good customer skills. Hope to stay here again on our back home from our cross country trip. I highly recommend this hotel.
Just awful, but seems to be the only game in town. No way to read in these rooms; like most places anymore, the lighting is atrocious. I wish that other travelers would begin taking a fit about lousy lighting in hotel rooms. It doesn't seem to matter what you pay, it's all awful. The sheets were like sandpaper, the shower curtain was mildewed; a pretty nasty place AND it was $150 on a Tuesday night.
I arrived and was checked in by the most friendly, welcoming and helpful woman! She even carried my bag upstairs I enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and weight room! It's close to I-25 and a gas station! I hear the breakfast is delicious as I will find out tomorrow! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing thru this area! Very nice!!!
It is situated in the middle of nowhere, The only places to eat are Kentucky fried chicken or taco bell. Room was clean, decent size, clean but not spacious. Parking was convenient, breakfast was adequate not fantastic. No pool.
Walsenburg is the closest town to the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch. My wife does NOT camp...she expects a real Hotel with internet, clean rooms and a comfortable bed..a great breakfast helps! The Staff at this Hotel are as good as any resort we stay at!!! There are other
Stayed here one night. It's a traditional motor hotel. No elevator for rooms on second floor. Front desk very helpful. Breakfast is above average for included and starts at 5!! Location right off the highway. Some rooms in the older part of the hotel, from 1970.
I stayed at this BW over the weekend as part of a Red Cross deployment with the Colorado wildfires. What a clean and updated hotels. I've stayed at many hotels in my business and volunteering and this is a great place to stay. The beds are super comfortable and we even had a small kitchen in our room with fridge, stove, oven and microwave. My only small complaint is the noise from the A/C unit. In the heat of the summer, it was going off and on often. My bed was real close and it somewhat disrupted my sleep. The breakfast they serve in the morning is fabulous too. Each morning, there is a main egg dish (omelette, breakfast burrito, etc.) plus a waffle maker, cereal, instant oatmeal and various breads. Along with a great cup of coffee and you are good to go to face the day.. They are right off the I-25 at the beginning of the town of Walsenburg. You can't miss it. Very little highway noise either. I didn't have time to use any of the amenities but one other volunteer did use the pool and jacuzzi. She said it was great especially later after the kids were done playing. I also noticed that dogs were allowed. If I am down that way again and hopefully under better circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here!
We stayed here one night while passing through the area. Our room was comfortable and quiet, had good blackout curtains and a nice bed. We especially enjoyed the made-to-order breakfast burritos the next morning! Very friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel was super clean and the staff was excellent. Kids really enjoyed the indoor pool. The breakfast was so good! They had a chef making fresh omelets and hash browns. Check in and out was super quick and parking is good. Would highly recommend this hotel!!
This Motel has an older section and a newer section. We stayed in one of the original drive up to the door rooms. Our room was large and immaculate with super comfy queen beds. This hotel also has a very nice indoor pool area. KFC and taco Bell next door. No other nice, sit down restaurant option within walking distance. Breakfast of the day was made to order burritos they also had some other offerings. It was a bit pricey but having a managers reception would have made the stay a great value but, still easily the best Motel experience I have had in a long time.
We have stopped at this hotel the last 2 years on our way from Oklahoma to Crested Butte and won't stay anywhere else! We love the breakfast????the hotel is nice and easy to get in and out of. Clean rooms and hotel staff is very nice. Highly recommend this hotel and we will continue to return!
Excellent hotel. I stay every week since December for work. Great staff. Internet works fine. Clean room. Quick check in. Love that i work nights and they know not to disturb me during the day. The boy making breakfast does an awesome job!
Room was clean, bed comfortable, blackout curtains actually kept out light, room was quiet, internet quick and easy, and breakfast was amazing! Front desk staff was welcoming and answered all our questions with a smile. Very good quality at a reasonable price.
Room was very clean, bed comfortable. Slept well. Had an outside room and was very satisfied. Breakfast burrito was goid, only wished they had salsa. Staff very professional and great smiles. Good location.
I've stayed in such a variety of hotels and resorts and have learned to appreciate the little touches (that impress). This place impresses with made-to-order omelets on a Friday, beautiful features in the rooms, (brushed nickel lamps, no less, super-sized fridge), superior staff, inviting pool area, and more. The furniture and beds, pillows appear to be new....and comfy beds are a MUST. The floors and carpets even look new. And all of this at a very competitive price. I'll be back.
On our way to Wyoming from the panhandle of Texas we stayed the night. Loved the online check in, we were able to walk in and just get keys and go to our room. Room was very clean and comfortable. Chef prepared us breakfast and there were lots of other food options. Staff was extremely friendly! Thank you!
This is the second time we stayed here as an overnight stopover on our way west or south and we liked it both times. We kind of joked about the name but the staff, especially Brandi was very helpful and nice. We were having issues with the internet and she rebooted it and we were able to connect right away. The rooms are nice and clean. If you are weary and on 1-25 near Walsenburg it is a great place to stay.
Nice hotel, beds weren't real comfortable but not the worst. I stay anytime imheading through. Staff I was very nice and very helpful. Breakfast is fresh and very good. They make to order. Worth the night stay
My husband and I stopped here for the night after driving all day. The desk person was fast and friendly, the room was immaculate, and the bed was comfortable with pillows galore. The room was nicely updated and had a beautiful mountain view as well. Breakfast was great with a nice selection of hot and cold items. There aren't many dining options within walking distance, but downtown is just a short drive. Would definitely stay here again.
Our stay was very good....nice ladies at check-in.....clean rooms! Very good breakfast...made to order biscuits and gravy on Sunday Morning! Different buildings, but we were upstairs in the main building. Some noise in hallway, but not bad.
While the new regular Best Western (as opposed to a Best Western PLUS) was clean and quiet and the staff genuinely pleasant, the towels and sheets have seen better days. I had softer towels in Army basic training - sheets too. The sheets were clean as was all the bedding, but again - scratchy and the bed was HARD as a plank. I guess we better look for the PLUS next time. With the change in signage, Best Western has dropped standards a bit. I LIKED the old sign and the old Best Western.
Great stay, clean rooms, there are rooms in the main building and also around the hotel where you can park right in front of your room, they have a gym and a pool/hot tub which is great for relaxing after a long drive. Breakfast was great too it's continental plus a special that they said changes (it was omelette and hash browns when we stayed) . Overall good experience.
You wouldn't expect to find such a nice accomodation in this location, kind of out in nowhere. Our room was in the single story area and it was very quiet away from the traffic noise. The staff member was very friendly and helpful to check us in. Our room was "squeaky" clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was large, had a table and chairs and refrigerator and microwave. I like the vanity and sink separate from the shower room and this was the way it was. The breakfast was excellent and unusual with a chef, complete with hat, serving you the hot special and then you had plenty of other choices to help yourself to. We will definitely stay here again and hope others will enjoy a stay too. The price is reasonable too.
We love the Best Western Rambler in Walsenburg. Spotless clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was great. One time the served breakfast burritos and this time it was biscuits and gravy. We brought our 2 dogs and that was no problem at all. It is a great place to stay and a great price.
Good affordable place to stay. However the Hot Tub was not working well, which was really disappointing after a long day of driving. Breakfast needed more Gluten-free choices for people with Celiac or wheat sensitivity.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit dated, but bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Breakfast was excellent. Chef was available for hot dish and everything else was well stocked.
Stopped for a quick overnight stay on way to mountains. Room was clean and reasonably updated, people were friendly and breakfast was simple but fresh. Definitely would stay again. However, I would avoid the Chinese restaurant down the street — food was way too salty!
While in town and in need of a room this fit the bill. Person working front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was more than expected. Very clean and plenty of room to relax. Shower and bathroom very clean. Breakfast was above expectations. I highly recommend this motel.
when we go to a hotel we choose Best Westerns because they have a pool and the things we want in the rooms (refrigerator, microwave). This one was conveniently placed for us, it had great friendly staff and was a comfortable place to stay while in that location. We would stay there again if we were there again. The nice thing about this chain for us is that where ever we need to go there is likely to be one, and they are reliably clean and friendly.
The sheet doesn't looks new. The pillow is so small, I don't think it's a standard pillow. Staff were friendly though. Breakfast was standard. Huge parking space. Near by gas station and restaurant (Taco Bell & KFC). It's the worse BW I had ever experienced so far.
Bugs in room, stains on chairs and dried stuff on table sides, black specks on sheets. Just plain Nasty. Was told the bugs were normal due to the area. Not offered any discounts. I would never stay here again!!!!
This is a nice and clean motel with friendly staff. We stayed in a room in the motel portion , where we got to park right in front of the door to our room, which was very convenient. The room was nice and roomy, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. For the complimentary breakfast, they cooked up breakfast burritos for us that were really good.
We were traveling from Durango, CO back to Texas and picked this place to stay for the night. At first we thought the price was high for a drive up hotel room but overall we were pleased. The room was large and clean and we had easy access to the ice machine. The pool was nice but we were disappointed that the hot tub was out of order. They had a good breakfast with an omelette station which was a nice surprise. Overall a good stay but just a little high priced for our experience.
We have been driving cross country and this was one of our stops after a long day of driving. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The adjacent restaurant served a delicious dinner and breakfast.
Walsenburg CO is a good 1/2 way point between Denver and Albuquerque or Denver and Durango. Just know that your options are limited and Walsenburg is a small town. Staff at the Best Western did their best with property with limited resources. On the pls side - Tina's diner a couple of miles to the west is a MUST STOP for breakfast.
Stayed one night on my way to Monte vista CO to visit family. Helpful staff, clean, comfortable and convenient. The people in the town are Friendly and quick to share nice places to visit around the area.
I stay here with family every year and I am always met with very nice and friendly staff. The room is always clean and welcoming. There are places to eat near by and it is very spacious. I have always received great customer service as well. Thank you!!
Horrible! Allowed us to check in with no running water, room reeked of smokers, made us pay for a night! No Running Water....while we were checking out, they were still checking new comers in, really... and to top it off, Best Western in Emporia had no running water after the Dirty Kanza ride and they also made us pay for the night! Best Western has a an odd way of taking care of their customers. Would you eat breakfast at a place with no running water?
We were caught in a snowstorm and unable to journey to our destination. We stopped at this BW and the staff helped us look at our travel options, and made us feel welcome. This is the place to stay if you are traveling around Walsenburg, Colo. Clean, spacious rooms with amenities. At the end of a stressful day, this staff is comforting and the BW excellent.
My grandson and I stopped here for the night on our way back from Denver. The staff was great checking in and very friendly. The room was clean, big and very comfortable. The but comes in here. When using the stairs by our room that evening , a man was passed out on the stairwell, obviously very intoxicated.Needless to say it was frightening coming around the corner by myself and finding him. It was promptly taken care of and he was removed. The room across from ours held some noisy people and we opened the door to a bag of garbage in the middle of the hallway. it was gone by morning. One suggestion is to make sure the entrances are locked to outsiders. Saw another transient the next morning getting coffee , but he was very pleasant. The breakfast was good and plenty of choices, including biscuits and gravy and the hostess was very pleasant. We would stay there again for sure, but maybe a little more security would be a good thing.
Looks were deceiving. Our room was much older than the pictures/front building appeared. Our key didn't work. I couldn't get on the internet. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful, but this room didn't meet Best Western Standards that I have become accustomed to.
Super room, although, wish they'd have had a king available. (Don't think this hotel has king beds.) Anyway, clean room, nice decor. GREAT hot breakfast!!!! Couldn't get any better for free. Slower internet, but nice that we didn't have to pay for it.
This is a very nice little motel just off I25. Some rooms have a jacuzzi tub in them. We stayed in a suite with two king beds. Very comfortable and clean, but nothing extra special. The place has recently been renovated. The breakfast is nice as well.
I did not stay in this hotel (but i would in a second) We pulled into the hotel and asked assistance from the check in ladies They weren't busy ,and new we were not staying at the hotel ... but the two lovely ladies at the front desk answered all of our questions and were so helpful. We can not thank you both enough Kudos to the best western for having such wonderful ladies representing them Next time im in town Without a doubt we will be staying with you
Very clean and suitable. Very nice folks who smile. Spacious and perfect for me. Quiet but full. Only used internet but it was fast. Can't complain about anything. Toilet seat not for adult male; maybe a child?????
I can always count on Best Western hotels for a clean, comfortable stay. Staff was great, breakfast a wonderful start to the day. I usually am on my motorcycle, and they make sure I have a room where I can keep an eye on my bike. If there looks like rain is coming, I can always park under the entrance shelter. Best Western is best for bikers!
Easy to find on the Interstate, clean, modern and convenient. Staff went above and beyond what most do. Town of Walsenburg is quaint throwback to the old days when railroad was the main source of travel.
Great find when we weren't sure what we would find. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms nicely decorated. At breakfast we were served delicious omelets, surprising, all in all a happy relaxing experience.
This was an excellent hotel at which to stay for one night, clean room, good breakfast, hospitable employees. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I would stay there again if I was in the area. I am from Massachusetts.
Great staff, hot breakfast with omelet and hash browns as well as all the continental breakfast items. Room was clean and swimming pool was really nice with a hot tub that hit the spot after a long day on the road. Will be looking to stay at Best Western again when traveling.
This hotel has everything we needed--wifi, which isn't horrible, a pool, which is small but sweet, a fridge (works great) and microwave, clean rooms, nice televisions (with HBO), good, hot breakfast, a workout room, and very friendly, responsive staff. The view we had was a field of flowers with swallows flying everywhere, and the surrounding environs offer wonderful historic points of interest, as well as local art and produce. Great stay!
The worst best western ever. The bed had a big dent in it. I was charged more for my room then they quoted me on the phone. The room was cheap and I hated the dispensers like a public bathroom. The staff was not helpful. Over all a zero.
We rolled into Walsenburg around 8pm, I wasn't thrilled about the Best Western we were going to stay in, however, when we walked in the lobby was very nice and the gal at the front desk was super nice and she found a room for us. We got up to our room and it was really nice, as nice as some high end hotels. Everything worked and it was the best night of sleep I got on our 2 week vacation. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel and I want to say good job staff!!! We were just passing through but there are some neat rock formations around if you feel like wondering out and exploring on your own.
Not only is the place a dump, we didn't have running water the two nights we were there, they are liars. I requested a refund for our stay, and was assured by one manager that we would receive a full refund. When I went to check out, I left my email address to get confirmation of our refund. Upon returning home, another manager said that they were only going to refund one night, of our two night stay. Now I am on the phone with my credit card company to get the promised two nights refund.
Passing through on our way to the Great National Sand Dunes... hubby had a gig in La Veta and needed a place to stay. The hotel is nicely maintained-- we had fun in the pool and enjoyed the breakfast a lot!
Clean room with that was very large in living space. Had a cabin like atmosphere. Covered are to park motorcycles. Been there before and would definitely stay again. Hot breakfast, made to order omelets & hash browns.
Do not stay here. This is the grossest hotel I have ever stayed in. Our floor (with gross, dirty carpet) had hard uneven "hills" all thru the room - the nightstand was so crooked with the uneven floor that my belongings were rolling off. Our sheets were not clean (see picture)...there were so many visible stains and hairs. And the bath towels were rags. And not even clean rags at that. We cannot wait to get out of here in the morning - I am so disgusted. This may be understandable if the rate was low, but we just paid $220 for this filth. Unacceptable.
We'd been looking for a room all over southern Colorado, it seemed, and this place was a good place to light for the evening. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet on the evening we were there. The staff referred us to a nice restaurant in town. We especially appreciated them phoning us in the morning to let us know that the water was going to be shut off in an hour (city water line broke). Although it was a little earlier than we wanted to get up, it was nice to have time to shower and such without having the unpleasant surprise of no water mid-shower. I usually prefer to stay at locally-owned places but this was worth the extra $$, not to mention all those smaller and cheaper hotels had no vacancies!
Good variety of fresh cooked breakfast items that change every day of the week. Overall, very quick breakfast service, that starts early at 6am, making it great to get on the road faster.Convenient location next to highway and gas station. Exterior room next to ice machine made some noise, but overall good location.
very nice hotel and staff. Not really close to restaurants but staff was very helpful in directing us to places to go for dinner. The breakfast was the best, there was a cook that fixed us a fresh breakfast sandwich was excellent. Nice pool area, very clean.
Passing through town after a long day of traveling. Staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was clean and big. Location was great by the interstate. Breakfast had a variety of items. I would recommend this hotel.
Not a luxury place, but a clean, large room with basic amenities in which to spend the night. If I needed to stay in this area, I would choose this BW again. Very helpful an positive staff. Breakfast was minimal but did have a chef preparing hot breakfast burritos. An older motel that has been nicely redone,
We stopped here for one night on our way up into the mountains. The place is nice and well kept. However it certainly wasn't worth the $163 I spent for ONE night. I actually got that price on a deal with a coupon!! If you talk to people who live in Colorado, they will tell you the hotels are able to now charge basically whatever they want because of the legalization of marijuana and the fact that people are coming there to buy it and will pay whatever the asking price is for a hotel. Mind you, I'm NOT against marijuana and not trying to start a debate. Just simply saying while this hotel is decent (free breakfast was nice), I've stayed in much nicer, higher rated hotels for FAR less than $163 per night.
Stopped at this hotel as it was at the end of a long day of driving. Upon checking in, we found the WiFi was down for several days and would be until a part was installed. The room was average and the bathroom was very small and tight. Not at all near anything worthwhile to eat at. Okay for just an overnight stay.
Room was nice and spacious. Soap dispenser was empty when we arrived but was taken care of within a matter of minutes. Breakfast was good. First time i had someone make me an omelette which was nice. Would not want to stay more than a night due to the lack of things to do around the area.
Service of the staff was great. They are always friendly and eager to help. If you have any problems with anything they will be there to help. Breakfast is always good and they make sure to serve you as quick as possible.
Great staff! Breakfast burrito was delicious! For the area, this is my choice. Should my travels take me to this town again, I will definitely stay here. Easy access from the interstate. Quiet evenings. Several food options are nearby.
This location is a cut above the normal property. Great customer service. Breakfast was good and the room was clean. The pillows were great. The mattress was good. Wifi was adequate. The tub drained a little slowly. Easy and quick check in. The refrigerator was adequate.
2nd nite of 3.5 wk cross country vacation. We look for out of way, pet friendly hotels and have great luck with our picks. This was no exception. Older place that appears to have been gutted and remodeled. Bathroom was fantastic with larger than regular bathtub. Bedroom was very spacious and bed comfortable. Breakfast was more than usual fare and on day we were there, there was breakfast burritos offered from grill in breakfast room.
We were surprised how well we were welcomed .Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary , Best Western Went out of there way .. The entire staff was most accommodating ..We have stayed at this Best Western several times heading west from Illinois .We hope to be back in the future
We always try and stop here for the night. It is about half way on our trip to let grand kids swim before going on to Pagosa Springs. The room smelled of smoke and we reported it and they came and deodorized. They are very accommodating but the rooms could be updated. The free breakfast was very good. We asked for extra towels and some had holes in them.
it doesn't get much better than this. You can park in front of your room and the rooms are clean and comfortable. As an entertainment feature, there is bird dodging. What a fun sport to break up a long, long drive. I'll go out of my way to stay here.
The service was outstanding! The room very clean and the bed comfortable. It seemed to be a bit over priced though. The access through another convenience store parking lot was a little disorienting but overall it was a nice stay while driving though the area.
This hotel has a newer 2 story building surrounded on 3 sides by the original row of single story rooms. We had a King room in the single story part of the hotel complex. You could park at your door. We had to walk to the middle building for breakfast and the indoor pool/hot tub. The weather was nice so it wasn't a problem. The room was large, very nice, and updated. Everything was very clean. There was a microwave, fridge, and flat screen TV. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The linens and towels were good quality. The bathroom vanity/sink was outside of the bathroom so no privacy. It was sufficiently lit. Check in and checkout went smoothly. We received a nice welcome bag of bottled water and some snacks for being reward members. The breakfast was very good with several hot items. All the staff was friendly. The hotel was quiet. Now for 2 complaints: The hot tub was out of order and the wifi was so slow it was impossible get anything done. We would stay here again because it seems to be the best hotel in town. As a side note: If you want pizza, go to the First Choice Market and get one of their Brick Oven Pizza's. They are awesome! I'll be writing a review on that also.
This place did not disappoint after disappointing inn in Santa Fe at a highly recommended place. Front desk staff were great and accommodating. Hot breakfast. Warm water pool. Room vety clean. We've decided to make Best Western our chain after this experience. We travel and stay in hotels about 40 nights a year
It was a "breath of fresh air "to have omelets for breakfast after the same old, same old hotel breakfasts. The room was clean and comfortable. It looks like it was an old motel that was recently remodeled.
Very good experience at this hotel, high level of appearance and maintenance. However the hot tub was out of service. This is a roadside property and a bit away from the town. Only next door was KFC and Taco Bell, both were not the best ! There was not much more in the town of mention we found. But if you need a quality property this is it. Good value for money paid. Built / Remodel 2008. There are other hotels prior / pueblo and another one past this one somewhere. Asked to stay in front where we parked which faced the hwy, there was only occasional road noise noted. Pretty well sound proofed room.
Great friendly and extremely helpful staff. We got caught here in a snow storm and the staff went out of their way to assist us and give us travel and weather advice along with being extremely pleasant!
We stayed in the old part of the hotel but they had redone them all and they were very nice. The problem we had was that our room faced I-25 so we had freeway noise all night. If you stay here ask for a room facing west.
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and will stay here again when we are passing through. This time was marginally better than the last - mostly based on the quieter location of the room. Having all the doors open inward toward the courtyard makes the hotel seem a little more secure. The room was quiet, with very little outside noise. Two minor drawbacks were that the refrigerator motor was noticeable when it was running and the soap had congealed in the nozzles of the soap dispensers. The refrigerator did not run all that often, and the dispensers were easily opened up with a coffee stirrer which was already available in the room.
Very comfortable and pleasant hotel! Pillows are very plush for a cozy night's sleep. Great restaurant across the street called George's. Views are great when you walk next store to the gas station. Right off the highway. You won't be disappointed staying here!
the mtg does not care nasty commode also not once not twice I told them that I could not get into my room door lock was broke she acted as if it was my fault filial after the 3 day of me complain they moved me also I think if people are going to grill they need to move it away from the rooms and town their noise at night every night drinking in front of room and cursing I do not think other people wont's to here this mess also the TV programing sucks NO chanles but 1 thru 28
It looks like Best Western purchased an old hotel and updated it. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent. We had made to order breakfast burritos. It was tasty and filling. Don't let the exterior fool you, it was very nice on the inside!
We stopped late without a reservation as it was snowing. Right off I-25. Staff was very friendly. Rate was great. Breakfast was amazing. A homemade hot breakfast sandwich!! I've never stayed anywhere where this happened. What a great way to start the day. We also got a hot shower with pressure which is rare when staying at a hotel. All in all a terrific place to stay. I highly recommend this place.
The employees stepped up during a nasty winter storm/power outage that lasted for many hours and was brewing coffee and cooking omelettes over a gas stove in the dark! Tough situation and they handled it amazingly.
Stayed in this Hotel as a layover between Austin and Crested Butte. The room was clean, quiet and everything worked just as it should. Desk staff was very friendly and attentive. Location couldn't have been better for our trip. There was a Taco Bell and KFC just across the parking lot that made picking up a quick dinner to eat in our room very convenient. This property has both a Hotel section with rooms off of interior hallways and a Motel section where you can park right outside your door for those who want to keep a closer eye on their vehicle. Both looked newly remodeled and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best I've seen. They had an actual kitchen that was making fresh breakfast tacos with homemade salsa that was excellent. This was in addition to the standard waffles, cereal and pastries. The nice woman that was cooking even made my son a taco and wrapped it in foil when he didn't get down before she closed the kitchen-great service! We will make this our "go-to" property for future Colorado trips.
Stayed here on our summer trip. A welcome sight from the flatlands of western Kansas and Eastern Colorado. Very comfortable, was never so glad to get out of the car and into a comfortable bed! Also very clean, nothing out of place.
Though a bit overpriced, the BW Rambler was adequate for an overnight stay. The bed (especially pillow) wasn't very comfortable and I had a somewhat restless night. They did offer a hot breakfast (made to order breakfast burrito) but it was very bland with far too much potato for the minute amount of meat and egg. The desk service at registration was great (thanks, Cosmo!).
We chose the Best Western because of convenience to I-25 and the reviews on Tripadvisor. Our room was large with 2 queen beds and easy parking. As I moved the pillows on one of the beds there was a small brown bug. Thinking it was a beetle, I didn't pay much attention and quickly brushed it off the pillow. My husband slept in the other queen bed and in the morning was covered with bites, which we thought were from a spider? However, as we continued on our trip the bites became larger and redder and itchy. I looked up bed bugs and the bite locations, redness and itchy matched. The bug between the pillows matched the photo of a bedbug. The next morning we called the motel and explained the problem to the desk staff; who stated the information would be passed on to management.. My husband called the motel again this morning and spoke with management who stated the exterminator was called but no bugs were found. However, we have yet to receive a call from the motel, any apology, or discussion about what happens if we carried any bedbug eggs home with us. What about medical bills if the bites become infected? We are taking all precautions, but if we do get an infestation in our home - what then? The 35 plus bites are red, ugly and uncomfortable and can last 2 weeks plus. Management be pro-active and take care of customers.
My room on first floor had been totally updated except for arm chair and ottoman in room. First floor was noisy compared to my prior stays being on second floor which was much quieter in my opinion. The value was ok but expected lower since it was the month of November and not the summer months. I have stayed here many times over the years and will continue to do so.
The staff was happy and helpful, our room was roomy and air conditioner was quiet and worked well, room was clean, some of the outlets didn't work and the bathroom door didn't shut well but beds were wonderful slept well.
The rooms were nice and comfortable, but I could hear my adjacent rooms when they went to the bathroom, turned on their TV or talked. The rest of the motel is updated with easy access from the interstate and with easy access to food (although it is all fast food). If you want a nice sit down meal you have to drive a short distance into town.
We stayed here one night towards the end of an extended road trip. Hotel was conveniently located, room was well appointed and clean, breakfast in the morning was typical fair but good to get you going. Overall a nice stay and good value.
It was clean but nothing to write home about. We were put in a room with outdoor access to the parking lot which was noisy. The complimentary breakfast was good with numerous selections. We thought the rooms were a bit overpriced for the location and quality.
We stopped here for one night. The check in was easy and the desk clerk was very friendly. The room was cleaned in a hurry while we waited outside. Maybe too quick. The room and furniture is older. Nothing wrong with the room. Just not our preference. Nice breakfast variety. I asked my wife if she wanted to stay there on our return to Texas and she said no.
The hotel has a separate building from the main hotel. It is buildings on the properties which are large apartment rooms. We stayed in one of those rooms. It was very spacious. We had 3 large beds, dining room table and full kitchen. Breakfast was good and omelettes cooked to order. Negative-When we opened our room, an overwhelming urine odor overtook us. They had brand new carpet but smelled as if someone urinated. We went to tell the front desk clerk but he couldn't move us because they had no vacancy. He tried to find some cleaner but couldn't. We went and bought Febreeze. We used half a bottle of it on the carpet. The smell of the urine and Febreeze proved to not be a restful night. I told the front desk clerk in the morning and she apologized. She took money off the room and gave me extra points on my account without me asking for any of it They truly know customer service at this hotel. Very nice and helpful.
Recently renovated property. Original motel from 1958! Location close to freeway. Front desk helpful and pleasant. Room was simple but excellent value for $. Clean and comfortable. No noise. Single story with parking out in front of room. Breakfast good. All the staff were extremely pleasant. The manager said they were in the process of replacing shower heads, they need it; but that's just a minor detail. TV reception wasn't good but another minor detail as most people staying here would be in transit, not staying for an extended period. Because of price, cleanliness and cheerfulness of staff I gave it a 5.
The staff is always friendly and very accommodating . The newly remodeled rooms are beautiful, as well as, comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend you stay. There is some great site seeing if you do stay.
Just off I-25 with easy access to downtown and state highway 160 and the Highway of Legends. Surprise bonus: pool hot tub and Gym. Rooms have a small desk and a comfy chair, free Wi-Fi and comfy beds.
Hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was sparse on number of items available for the price paid for room, which was excessive for the fall season, but they have a captive clientele. Will still stay there again, but will advance book.
Great front desk staff, lovely rooms at a great price. This property is located on the edge of town. It looked brand new and we enjoyed a relaxing quiet stay at this property. The receptionist recommended dinner at the LaPlaza Hotel, downtown Walsenburg. That turned out to be a great time. Thank you!
I was really impressed with the improvements to the motel and it is still being remodeled right now but what has been done is great. Would definitely recommend this motel to my friends and family. They have a very good breakfast available at six which is plus for us because we are early risers and like to get on the road as soon as possible.
I recently stayed here coming into Colorado and again 2 weeks later upon leaving . We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were clean and very roomy. The 2nd night we had a problem getting into the room and the very nice clerk, Brandy, was very helpful in checking the door. She couldn't make it work so she moved me to another room that she said they had complaints of the loud refrigerator. I said no problem just unplug it. Problem solved. I find this place to be convenient from I25, a gas station next door and across the street and a KFC next door. I plan on using this place as my stop over in the future. I am able to park my horse trailer out front and walk my horse in the small area out front. This is an older motel but it is clean with very nice friendly people. The breakfast was a big homemade breakfast burrito.
We were unsure about stopping after looking at the reviews. We were both very tired and decided to try. It must have been newly carpeted. We thought it was nice and we slept good. Was a little loud for a short time because a high school football team was here...but they quieted down.
Choices in Walsenburg are pretty limited. Our experience was good. I like a firm bed. The rooms were very clean and modern with couch and coffee table sitting area in the room, a mini-suite. There was also mini ref, well stocked coffee bar and nice sized, very clean restroom facilities. The kids loved the indoor pool and that alone made the stay worth what I consider to be a little pricey for a roadside inn/place to get a break. Breakfast was good and included for all as well, so that also took some of the sting out of the price tag. It was worth the money and I would stay there again.
We stayed there 5 years ago building was old showing age ,staff was not helpful , everything outdated dirty . Didn't return till this week . They updated some rooms , lobby , outside and front desk person said they are continuing updates on the rest . Our room was clean comfortable .Staff was real nice asking what they could do and breakfast was good Biscuits gravy . A little noise early morning from other guest closing doors etc but overall it has improved .
Noisy air conditioner, loud buzzing fridge, poorly made beds are tucked too tight on the side and bottom sheet does not stay tucked. Sheets wadded up, partly due to tossing and turning from inability to sleep.
This was a nice stopover on our way into Colorado. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was great. Our breakfast was just great! We woke up refreshed and ready to hit the road. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
great hotel for our needs but bring your own pillow bc the pillows they have are hard we woke up w stiff necks the breakfast was good, they offered biscuits and gravy as part of the hot breakfast. and of course the waffle machine is a big hit w the kids.
Check in staff great, helpful, and courteous. Breakfast staff was great. Food less than other Best Westerns and burrito meat was bad. Clean, comfortable, pleasant rooms and lobby. No elevator. Good location. We were tired and had been traveling for 10 days.
BW Rambler staff were welcoming and helpful. My room was cool and comfortable with all the necessities. I thought having the aircon on before we arrived was great and good to retreat to after the 38c day outside. Serves its role as a traveller overnight stop well.
We usually stay at BWs while traveling but will never stay in this one again. No value for the price. I appreciate the hotels that offer pet friendly rooms and we don't mind paying the extra fee to stay at a nice property. This hotel made us feel like we were sent to the "bad" rooms out side because of our small dogs and charged extra. The room was dark, dingy, and not comfortable. The internet didn't work at all. But the worst thing was the breakfast offered. We are usually able to help ourselves to the offerings at most hotels, but this one had a worker who brought a plate of biscuits and gravy to you. The offering was meager, but she wanted our room number and mentioned her "tip" jar. I was very put off by this hotel. We won't use it again.
The Rambler is going through extensive remodeling, the room that we stayed in was one recently completed. WOW, they are definitely doing this on a budget, if nothing else it is interesting to see. Room was clean and well appointed, biggest issue was the lack of outdoor lighting. They have plenty of light fixtures just no bulbs? Construction materials piled up outside rooms, laundry/Ice facility out of order, i'm sure that was part of the remodel. Opted to skip breakfast here.
Efficient check-in & out. Very clean rooms and common areas. The beds were comfy. The Wi-Fi worked and the refrig was cold when we arrived. There as a wide variety of breakfast items including individual omelets.
We only stay at Best Western hotels and usually have nothing but great things to say. This particular hotel does not fall into that category. We will not stay here again. The hotel was extremely overpriced and the room had a horrible smell. I really did not like that no place in the entire hotel had ice. Overall, we were very disappointed.
Excellent hotel, great location, very clean, friendly staff, nice pool and hot tub, excellent workout room, the breakfast was really good each morning too! If we come back that way we will definitely stay there again.
I had read great reviews of this place and I was so disappointed with my stay. We got to the hotel the room was in the outside part which was OK. But the light fixture over the sink was missing a cover and the light bulb kept blinking, very annoying. We got bitten up by bugs while we slept.
On our way to Great Sand Dunes, we stopped just off of I-25 at the Walsenburg Best Western Rambler. With two 10 year olds and a toddler in tow, we were quickly and efficiently checked in. Our room was in one of the outer buildings, but everything was conveniently located around the main building where the pool and breakfast were served in the morning. Kids had a blast in the pool, super clean room, comfy bed, working amenities (microwave/fridge), FREE WIFI, and breakfast was fantastic! Super friendly associate cooked our made to order omelets and eggs. Kids ate make your own waffles. With a limited selection of lodging in this area, this is the one I will stay in, if I ever head that way again.
Good place to stay, friendly and accommodating staff. Nice clean place. It's in a perfect location, right of the freeway,I 25,there is a gas station, and a couple of fast food places. I got there late, and luckily Doug was able to help me out. I needed to extend my stay and Diana was able to help me. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and I could not give it enough praise. Thanks for everything. I will stay there again.
Clean, comfortable rooms with a welcoming staff and plenty of breakfast options. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool as well! Made a great stop over for our drive into Colorado and would consider staying there again on our next trip.
From the first call I made to BW to make a reservation, the gal assisting me was very friendly. When I called to confirm my stay with my pet, a different gal offered great customer service. Upon arrival the gentleman at the front desk was a joy as well. There was some construction going on so there was materials outside room #9 but since I was made aware of it, it wasn't a big deal. The room was spacious, liked that there was fridge and microwave in the room. The only small issue was that when flushing the toilet, there was a foul smell. After speaking with the gal at the front desk, was informed the rooms outside the main building had septic tanks and are working on getting all on city water. The pool was warm (people don't track in sand that settles at the bottom of the pool) and the hot tub was relaxing. The next morning breakfast was good. Had warm biscuits and gravy. Yummy waffles. A good variety of breakfast items. And again the gal attending the breakfast area was very pleasant.
The complimentary breakfast was poor...mini muffins, mini apples, only hard boiled eggs. The biscuits and "sausage" gravy was pitiful. Was assigned a disabled room. So when you took a shower, the water from the shower would run out of the shower into the bathroom.
We had a large, clean and quiet room. The breakfast bar had a nice variety, including cold cereal, fresh fruit, toast, coffee and juice. They served eggs, bacon and potatoes for those wanting a fresh, hot breakfast. Staff was polite and friendly. Don't hesitate to stay here!
This was my first night out on my vacation trip. I called ahead when I knew about where I wanted to be for the night and they were ready for me when I got there. The staff was friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. Having breakfast provided speeds things up for travel and lessens the expense for meals.
This hotel is the BEST in Town on the other hand it is the ONLY place in town that does not look like a FLEA BAG /RAT TRAP!! It really is a nice place it stay. They are renovating so it should only get better! It has a small work out room, small indoor pool which is fine for the region, otherwise it would be a mud bath because of the wind and there is also a "warm" tub. It could be a little warmer! breakfast is as good as could be expected.
Arriving in a snow storm and earlier than their normal check in, Diana & Brandi made our stay very memorable & welcoming. I had read bad reviews about this hotel & I can say we had no problems with our check in or our rooms. The omelets were a little skinny but the young lady there was very friendly. We would stay here again.
We stayed on our way home from winter in AZ. We are snowbirds. The desk staff were very helpful, the sausage gravy and biscuits were delicious (free breakfast). The bed was comfy and clean. Thank you!
My wife and I stayed here for one night, to break up our long drive while traveling through Colorado and New Mexico. The hotel was OK and the free breakfast was fine. There were no problems with this stay. The room was normal, no problems. There is an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. I used the hot tub in the early morning, and it was good. The hotel is located at a dusty crossroads where there is a convenience store, gas station and truck stop. The actual town of Walsenburg is a couple miles away, and the town is more substantial than I expected. This hotel room cost me about $85 (AAA rate) and I have no complaints.
I will get the good out of the way - the sheets were clean. I was in an outside room (where they put you if you have a pet - $10 pet fee) and walked in and instantly wanted to move motels but there was a massive snow storm and we couldn't get any other room in town. The television was fuzzy, tiny and useless unless you stood very close to it. The bathroom had 'not clean' towels so we decided to skip the shower (and they had not left any shampoo or soap). The window in the room was one foot tall and 2 feet wide...terrible and dark in room. If you have a pet stay elsewhere b/c you will not be allowed in the new part of the hotel but will pay the same rate. And the rate is as high as the La Quinta in Trinidad (40 minutes away south) and that hotel is awesome and worth the over $100 fee which is want the rate is at Best Western Rambler.
For this price, the bathroom fan should not sound like a scream from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." And amenities? Yes, if you count the hand lotion. No cable guide, or any area support, come to think of it. HOWEVER, the fresh omelettes and friendly young lady who covers the breakfast station brought it all up a notch! Tip that girl generously!
Stayed there for a few days for work. Couldn't get a brand new room, but I got a remodeled one in the old wing and it was great. The picture on the TV cut out a couple times, but turning it off and right back on fixed it, so no big deal. It was clean and comfortable.
the best western hotels and resorts was the only hotel in the area with a room. I was in the area to see my wife . the room and servers was very good. I like the way you had the lay out in the dinner room.
Sadly, this place is really disgusting (and we stayed in what they call the "new" wing). For starters, the persons that checked me in and out (when we left a few days earlier than expected to change hotels) were very friendly. Those people and the lobby were not the issue. I literally switched rooms 3 times. All three had dirty carpet, walls, and an overall dirty feeling. On one of the rooms the window didn't lock (and I was on the first floor), on another room their was food all over the floor and the sheets were obviously used, on the final room I settled for a room with sheets that were not clean and I slept with a towel over them (the first towel I pulled down was dirty), and when I showered noticed the shower liner had several inches of pink mold. I was there with two business partners and when i saw them the next morning they were disgusted with their room and had similar situations. We had to switch hotels and stay in Trinidad the next few nights. Very frustrating. And the rooms were the SAME cost as nicer hotels in Trinidad! Some of these reviews MUST be fake.
Friendly and helpful staff and well kept, comfortable rooms. I have extended stays and these accommodations make it much easier to get through the long stays. I would reccommend this establishment to anyone traveling to Walsenburg.
Stayed here one night for business in Walsenburg- this hotel is a little outside of the town, which made me feel safer. The woman who checked me in noticed that I was traveling alone and moved me from an exterior room to an interior upstairs room, which I really really appreciated. Also, the breakfast was amazing. They had made to order breakfast burritos with homemade salsa- incredible. Will definitely return!
This BW Rambler is a very nice Hotel in "Middle of No Where, CO). Nice and clean and under process of renovation. This is my 4th stay. The only "gripes" are the heating/ A/C is a wall unit and sounds like a JET ENGINE and was either toooo hot or toooo cool. Hard to regulate. Thus you had to crank up the TV to hear it. Also I found the bed was on the FIRM/ HARD as a rock side. Otherwise a fine place to stay!
Don't stay here unless you are prepared for an overall bad hotel experience experience. Not clean, hotel amenities are dirty, nothing to do, and shares a parking lot with a Taco Bell, KFC, and a Gas Station.
I stay at Best Westerns across the state and am usually very satisfied with the room quality and rates. This trip I was extremely disappointed in the room that was booked from this hotel. There are defiantly two different story's depending on which side of the hotel/motel your room is. DO NOT STAY in the old side, be sure to request the NEW side and you will be OK.
During the recent winter storms, my wife and I decided to stop for the day. Best Western Rambler was able to accommodate us. The front desk staff was friendly, the room was what we needed, the bed was comfortable for our needs. The breakfast was typical for a budget hotel, however the do have a little kitchen. The morning that we left, they were making homemade breakfast burritos which was a nice change. If we need a place to stop while traveling through Colorado, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
This hotel is away from the 'hustle and bustle' of the bigger-area cities and made for a nice base to drive to various locations, which for us, included two day trips to New Mexico. There is construction going on but it isn't likely to interfere with anyone's stay at this property. Excellent breakfast, clean rooms with a very good cleaning staff and very responsible and responsive desk personnel that makes you feel very comfortable. Great prices and upscale for the area.
I would have expected to pay about half of what they charged me after seeing the room. The lobby and breakfast area is fairly new looking. Then the clerk, which sort of said, "what do you want?" when I came in, sends us to a back separate building that was probably built about the time when the auto first came to Co. They are apparently remodeling the rooms but it appears to be very slow going. The room had a strange odor and they just didn't care about upkeep. Example, the lotion bottle had been used and half full. And other annoying things. Mostly the cost.
Be sure to ask if you are being put in a room in construction area. Hotel does not clean area outside rooms being occupied. You will track in copious amounts of dirt and debris to your room and have to walk around on dirty carpet as you get ready for bed!
Walsenburg is a half way stop for us on our way to New Mexico. In bad weather we stay over night there. The Best Western Rambler is the best place to stay for us. Close to the highway, friendly with comfortable beds.
Had to stop at truckstop with 4 loads and needed 6 rooms. Two rooms were complained about within our group the next morning, the other 4 were fine. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, has microwave and refrigerator in a wooden cabinet and the shower was very hot. The room temperature was easy to adjust. We needed copies next morning and staff readily provided them for us with no fuss. Breakfast is made for you and brought to your table when hot. It is being remodeled and is a work in progress. I would stay again.
Clean and comfortable rooms, lobby, exercise and breakfast rooms. Included with your accommodations: breakfast entree of the day, made to order, along with usual cereal, juice, & waffle station. My breakfast sandwich was hot and appeared quickly after it was ordered. Nice!
Most of this property consists of an old style drive up to the door motel. This room was run down and poorly maintained. For example, the toilet rocked...not the toilet seat, but the toilet wiggled on its base. The employees said that rooms in the newer portion of the motel were just as bad. Paid almost $90 for a $40 motel. Will avoid this place
Management provided a special rate for all of the family traveling to Walsenburg for a family reunion. The room was clean; however carpeting was in need of cleaning. The pool was open and warm, the hot tub was out of service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was clean and had sufficient food selection including an employee to assist with serving part of the food. The outside area of the motel is clean and close to fast foot location. I would recommend the Best Western
Standard motel, clean, pleasant, quiet. But the breakfast burrito makes it stand out from the usual plastic breakfast offerings. The generous-sized fridge and microwave are a help for travelers carrying a cold chest along.
Excellent experience in all categories: clean, friendly, professional. I highly recommend this hotel - we travel alot and this was exceptionally good. I would have given all 10's - however on the food they, along with most hotels, do not offer much in the way of vegetarian/vegan options for the breakfast so I gave 9's - however they did have an impressive, clean kitchen and made breakfast burritos fresh on location in addition to the self serve options.
Stayed here on our way to Durango. Very convenient, just off I25. Hot breakfast served along with other options. Nice, comfortable accommodations, large room. Checked in after 11:00 pm. so didn't take advantage of other amenities.
Clean and comfortable. 2 stories but no elevator. Our room was fine, bed was above average. Very noisy neighbors. Used the Jacuzzi and that was great! Breakfast was different as the attendant was making breakfast sandwiches, my guess is to control portions. We asked for "maid to order" so to speak, no carbs etc. Food was just fine. Thought the overall price was high.
The room smelled like heavy air freshener when we opened the door. Alerted management who said that it must have be the previous occupant, but did not offer to change our room and denied using scented cleansers to cover smells. Fixtures are old and leaky and refrigerator makes a huge racket (Shut it off). Breakfast burrito was very good. Management needs to actually listen to their customers.
We were in the area late in the afternoon and decided to end our day in Walsenburg. After checking with Trip Advisor we booked this hotel. The room and the property were clean and neat. In addition to the normal continental breakfast most hotels offer this one offered breakfast burritos at no cost which were a welcomed change. There is some exterior renovation taking place in the older part of the hotel but since I stayed in the newer part I can only report that the exterior renovation was taking place. It appeared the contractors doing the work were keeping a neat work area with all construction debris picked up and a safe environment for the hotel guest. The hotel is adjacent to a KFC/Taco Bell which is adjacent to an A&W. Food other than these require a five minute ride to the center of town. Be aware that most restaurants are closed on Sunday and Monday in Walsenburg so your dining options may be limited on those days. Booking with Trip Advisor saved $10 per room from the normal rate and was the same as the government rate at this location.
This was a quick one-night stay for our family of 3. We got in super late, but received courteous, prompt, and efficient service. The double room was immaculate, including the bathroom, refrigerator, coffee maker, linens, floors. It was quite full, however noise was not a problem. The best part of all was the breakfast! Usually "complementary breakfast" consists of dry muffins, sugary cereal, instant oatmeal, etc... Actually, I have seen hard boiled eggs once or twice. Not true at the Rambler! They have a cook on duty who will make you an omelette with bacon and cheese if you want! And hash browns! She was so friendly too! Like she wanted to be there cooking for you! Imagine that!!! We tipped her. The eating area was very clean as well. If you're passing through, stay there!!
They charge if a person smokes yet they do not clean the room if they do. I was put in a non smoking room that reeked of smoke. The a/c did not work, the internet did not work, the ice machine did not work. I have a service dog and was put in the room furthest from the potty area even though when I made the reservation I was told that I would be close to the potty area. For every complain there was an excuse. I got $9 off my $100 bill.
We plan to stay here on our next trip. The check-in staff was very friendly and very helpful, the room was clean, nice comfy beds and the breakfast was great. Everything from bagels and danishes to freshly made egg sandwiches and waffles. Good coffee too! Thank you very much Walsenburg Best Western Rambler staff. :)
