"OLD motel that needs updating"

Really old motel, no elevator and out dated. Had a large group staying here n most couples got a bad night sleep mostly due to road noise. The room's carpet looks old and AC/Heater unit very hard to adjust. Guess you get what you pay for. One good thing is good restaurants to eat at next door.

Older hotel that has been renovated. It has that I am still old but have fresh paint look. The hotel doesn't have an evaluator. The parking was very limited. It worked for a quick one night stay but I wouldn't want to stay there for an extended stay.

Mattresses were worn & and had little form left to then on the sides. TV was very small, and unable to be rotated for better viewing throughout the guest room. However, close to the interstate for easy access, and the breakfast had variety with hot food options.

No elevator, poor AC, dirty towels full of hair. Not up to Best Western standards. We had a baby with us and no way to carry his belongings upstairs to our room other than huffing up and down the hot stairwell a dozen times. The AC barely worked and the hairs in my (only) towel almost made me hurl.

I wish negative stars was a thing. The room smells like a public bathroom. There's a hole in the comforter that looks like a cigarette burn mark. Had a cockroach flying around. The bed was sunken in. You name it there was a problem. Spoke to the front desk said the hotel was sold out and nothing they could do to move me and to basically live with it. I have been an owner of a best western previously and this is a piss pour job of a hotel to be in the best western portfolio. I had higher expectations. I would like to request a refund on my stay. I spoke to who I believed to be the manager on site and told me to contact a third party so I left the premises. The matter was not resolved and was refused by the same manager for a refund and would not honor the refund.

The only good thing was about this was the girl that did the check in we got to the room got our stuff in the door shut the door my husband to open the door back up so we can go get dinner the door handle fell off in his hand trapping us in the room he tried to get us out couple times he finally got the door open we called the front desk she told me to come back up she moved our room to the room next-door we went in and made sure we check the handle first went to dinner came back took a shower air conditioner didn't work TV sound was there are no picture was after 11 o'clock went up to get breakfast in the morning a half hour before it was supposed to be shut down walked in everything was put away the lady said I got some sausage patties in the back I can get you know thanks bad experience all the way around

Cockroaches in my room and after killing them remained there till I left two days later. Homeless people on the premises eating, charging their phones, and allowed to enter rooms from the staff for showers I think.

Housekeeping did an admirable job, however pest control was very very poor. On several nights there were palmetto bugs in the bathroom, and several issues with television reception. Owner/management overly rude and disrespectful. Female owner/manager very irritable, completely positioned herself in a hostile and aggressive manner.

We stayed at this hotel on May 15, 2022. It was an overnight stop on our way to visit relatives in Ohio. The hotel lobby was remodeled but the rooms were just OK. The problem is that at "check out" a "Hotel Fee" of $3.00 was added to the bill. This charge was not shown on the reservation. When I ask what is was, I was told that it is "Hotel Fee' that is added to all guests, When I complained, the fee was refunded. Will not stay ther again.

Comfortable, hospitable stay with efficient staff. Highly recommend. :) The buffet was a surprise as I've not encountered sausage and eggs at a breakfast buffet before! The staff were always courteous and helpful.

VERY friendly desk clerk. Able to check in early. Gave us the closest available room. The owner even helped with our luggage. Comfortable beds. Desk with chair and a comfortable chair to sit. The room was quiet, even with vending and ice machine next to us.

Our room overlooked I-85, which is very busy and noisy. Didn't sleep much, even though I placed cushions from the couch in the window to try blocking the sound. However, the free breakfast was good, even though I had to ask for bread so I could make toast.

Black mold renovation in our house. I have years in hospitality and hospitality management. I wanted to give this hotel a chance while we were renovating our bathroom due to black mold, since it was close to my church. When we first made the reservation it was around $850 but when we checked in we were then told our reservation will be $1400+ because it is $30 a day per pet not just $30 fee one time as well as taxes. we were not notified of $100 deposit before making the reservation or while making the reservation. This was for around seven days and would be a months worth of rent. When we checked into the room it smelled heavily of pet urine, feces and cigarettes. When we told the front desk they told us that we can't move, That there were no other rooms available . this was a older Caucasian female of whom we checked in with it was a Sunday mid afternoon we stayed until a Saturday. We checked out a day early: We asked if there was a supervisor or manager they said we can speak to one tomorrow(Monday) however the next morning when my husband attempted to speak to a Manager regarding our situation and what was happening we were told there was none available even though we were told they would speak to us at 10am, He missed an hour of work to be able to speak to management as we both work full-time jobs during the day . While I was at work around 1040am I received a text message and was asked how my stay is so far I would presume this is the third or fourth employee we had spoken to by now since we spoke to the audit person to let them know that we would like to talk to somebody in the morning and the two employees in the afternoon when we checked in: I let them know what happened and they said a manager would speak to us the next day at 10 AM again and that they would relay the information. There was manager available that morning(Tuesday) This second night we thought it would be okay to bring our pet this night since we would be there all week. When we came into the room our beagle was fine but after a few minutes she attempted to try to get under the bed, which is less than 5 inches off the ground, we tried to find out what she was going after and we found out there was pet feces, what looked like laundry beads for the dryer and a bottle of nail polish under the bed and when we notified the front desk she sent the maintenance person to come vacuum it up when he tried to move the bed there was underwear and a used tampon that was under the mattress however my husband does not wear bright neon orange and black underwear. We wanted to move rooms but he cleaned up the mess. We tried to speak to a manager Wednesday morning but we were told there is not one available and that he will not speak to us but we can relay our messages to the front desk and they will let him know. The next two nights were okay however I slipped in the shower and cut my foot open on the drain. We tried to call down to the front desk but kept getting a busy signal my husband went out to get Band-Aids and we cleaned everything up but we were still unable to get a hold of the front desk because it said that it was in night mode. We then went to sleep the next morning we still try to speak to a manager however again we were told he was unavailable : by this point I was numb to the experience that we were having at the hotel and decided it would not matter if we reported this to management because we did not think that they were going to care or respond however I want to make sure the next guest who stays in your hotel will not fall and will actually have a clean room and I would suggest putting down sand/ grit spray on the bottom of the bathtub so no one else falls. My husband upon checking out a day early attempted to speak to management again but we were told no one is available despite the fact we tried every single day that we were there to try to speak to management and were told that management was not there or was not available even though we were told 10 AM (even on a Saturday, which most hotels have a supervisor of some sword available to deal with the Friday night issues that most guests may have had) every day to come try to talk to them we had taken pictures during our stay of the feces under the bed event as well as of what was between the mattress and we took pictures of everything upon checking out to make sure that we did not forget anything although we may have forgotten a few socks under the bed or maybe a nightlight next to the TV which we forgot to call about until now. At the time of writing this on March 11 we still have not had management contact us about our stay or our experiences and I am fully aware of how Medallia works. The night audit girl and Tori were probably the most thoughtful people we have ever dealt with for their empathy and compassion during our stay and I feel really bad for the maintenance man and the housekeepers because they seem to be just doing what they can.

2nd time at this motel. Overall experience good but shortcomings more noticeable this time. Clean room but missing some conveniences.- no alarm clock- no hair conditioner- Biggest disappointment was breakfast experience. Staff more concerned with mopping a clean floor than assuring food was ready on time. No bread products- scrambled eggs(powdered) but no bacon/sausage/nada. Orange and apple juice- both very diluted- coffee-Luke warm- from pump dispensers.

The rooms was very dirty. There was dead bugs laying every where. The bathroom was filthy. I couldn't even shower because the shower head was broken. I booked two rooms and I will never stay at this hotel again

I would reccomend this location for its central location and there is a waffle house (24 hr diner) and a cracker barrel almost in the parking lot so if u don't have a car you can eat cheap plus the internet upload speeds were blazing fast. Downloads too!

Everything in this hotel was old and tired. Poor drainage in bathroom sinks and tubs, peeling and bubbling paint on ceilings, sticky doors, etc. We chose this location for it's proximity to Caromont Regional Medical center for a family medical emergency and it served that purpose, but it is not a hotel that I would return to.

1st there is no elevator so be prepared to time your luggage up a the stairs. Rooms have a horrible smell. We were moved to another room. The 2nd room smelled but not as bad as out 1st one. While showering I noticed something brown on the shower tile and wiped it off Totally grossed out I can only imagine what it was. While putting on my clothes I found a part of dirty socks under the lounger. I informed staff and had my room cleaned again. This is the 2nd BW we checked in on our week vacation.

Customer service very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and neat. We had a refrigerator and a microwave. Due to COVID the best western offered a brown bag breakfast consist of a muffin, breakfast bar, a bottle of water and a cup of hot coffee. Thank goodness Cracker Barrel and the Waffle House is in walking distance.

The employees were friendly. The hotel was quiet and very comfortable to sleep in. The only thing was I had to ask for fresh towels each day. But other than that it was wonderful staying there. It is in a great location with a lot of restaurants around in the area in a medical facility.

Best prices in town with good service. I loved the location and the near by amenities. The staff was very polite attentive without me even asking for anything. The only thing that I didn't like was my mattress was too firm... But I will recommend BW to all my friends.

Arrival was very late because we had trouble finding lodging despite hours of searching, from Athens GA to Gastonia. We had left from Gainesville FL that morning, so this happened in the wee small hours of the morning: 1. Police making arrest as we arrived. 2. Sink pipes leaking badly onto floor in bathroom. Had half unpacked when this occurred and were then moved to another room. 3. The heater-A/C unit did not work at all, neither did the coffee maker. Did not report until checkout, too tired to move to a 3rd room. 4. Interior doors both rooms are sticky, both sides. 5. Rooms stink - cigarette/cigar/other smoke, though advertised as non-smoking. 6. Loud talking/morning noise in hallway, some from chambermaids, woke us early. Didn't get to sleep until after 3am. 7. Shower curtain rod about to fall, mountings loose. 8. Surprised no partial refund offered at checkout. Will revise this review if remediation is offered.

We stayed here for a night in December while passing through the area. The room was clean but that's about it. There was a good sized gray stain on one wall, maybe from water leaking? The sink would not hold water as the function was totally broken. The carpet was about threadbare. Dingy. Would not go back again.

Too many Transient people hanging around the front lobby, sleeping in the area and they didn't even have a mask on. The hotel staff seemed to welcome it and implied it was normal. We Could not even utilize the computer or get a cup of coffee.

Service is horrible, but after you are checked in the rooms are nice and the layout is great. Price is decent. Always ask for price match for online. Only option we had for room was 3rd floor, no elevator. Breakfast during Covid Is doable but just be prepared to order out. Close to multiple restaurants.

Sorry because the employees were very nice but a big bug in my room, dirty, worn and old carpets and noise because of the highway. Very cheap breakfast because of the Covid. Price too much high regarding the location, the situation and the the age of the equipments. Sorry again because this is not about the employees but you should really do something to fix these problem which can have sanitary consequences. Thank you.

"Sketchy Hotel and Poor Quality Service"

My mom chose to stay at this property for her birthday even though I urged her to stay at a Marriott property. She wanted a room with a jacuzzi, so she booked a weekend here for her birthday. The hotel itself just seems extremely sketchy. The room is accessed from the outside and has a motel vibe to it. The bedding seemed old and the duvet seemed extremely outdated. She was excited about the outdoor pool which was extremely small, but it fit her needs, so I guess that's fine. She was very upset however, that the jacuzzi in her room didn't work. The maintenance man had to come in, interrupting her evening, only for him to say it wasn't going to work. She was supposed to receive some type of refund, and credit of some kind, but management never had this taken care of. She paid full price for a room with a jacuzzi she wouldn't even use. She said the bed was comfy and she enjoyed the breakfast, so that's the only reason I'm giving this location 2 stars. Would never send anyone here.

"Very noisy hotel"

This hotel is right by interstate 85, which makes it hard to sleep during the day as I was working nights. I also was bitten by something on my face and neck, pretty sure it was fleas. The staff at the front desk were very nice and moved us. We were scheduled to be there 3 weeks but company moved us.i normally like BW but not this one. First floor is in the basement no Elevator.

"Disgusting, not worth the money"

Bathroom tub was painted with latex paint. With the hot water running it started to peel off, leaving all kinds of peels on my legs. The caulking around the toilet was so shabby that a 5 year old could have done a better job. The door to the bathroom was sticky, dirty and disgusting. «Molly maid » was obviously visually challenged.

My wife and I both noticed a hot water shortage in both (the first room was grungy and right next to the very noisy highway) rooms we stayed in...which was explained one morning by one of the hotel staff that the hotel turned it down on purpose! The place REALLY needs to be remodeled!

"A little pricey for what you get"

I only needed a room for one night just to have a place to sleep. The hotel seemed a little old and the tv was an older model. The internet worked well, breakfast was good, and staff were friendly but for the price you could get a nicer room somewhere else.

Clean rooms, great service, I tried a few others and was not happy. Actually left and went to another hotel. Stayed about 2 hours checked out and came back here. My family feels safe here. I have a special needs son and they were considerate with my needs. My 4 yr old daughter said it was the best place on earth :)

It was a nice place to stay my only problem was no hot water to shower the next morning. So it was cold showers. It was a good location and everyone was nice. walking distance to get something to eat.

This is an older hotel & in many ways, that shows. However, the staff at the hotel are very kind & accommodating and definitely make the experience better. This is a decent place to stay for the price (especially if you become a Rewards member & earn points towards free nights). Any issue I had was addressed quickly by the staff. I'd recommend this hotel to any friends looking for one in the area.

Used this hotel a couple of times with the average rundown look. This last visit I got out down on the first floor. Door looked as if had been broken into a couple of times. I had water dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom. The remote didn't work the TV. Room had a funky smell. Oh and to top it all off. My cost doubled for the second night. I stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night. I also worth mentioning the sound of traffic is horrible. I couldn't sleep that good cause it was as if I had the door open. This place royally sucked.

Stayed for a night on our round tour. Good value for the price and cheaper than Asheville or Charlotte and a good location on the Interstate. Very friendly staff, clean and efficient room and a good American breakfast. Would definitely come again.

After waiting 15 minutes to checkin, I used the outside stairs (no elevator) to reach the upper floor only to find my key cards would not open the lock at the top of the stairs. Another 10 minutes back to desk and finally got to room. Room was generally good but shower handle was not functioning well and there was shampoo(?) on the inside of the shower curtain.

My mom chose to stay at this property for her birthday and brought me over to see her Jacuzzi room. As a hotel receptionist myself, initially, I would not have chosen for her to stay at this hotel because it looks really sketchy. The rooms have outdoor access which immediately made me uncomfortable for her safety and the curtain to the room is also see-through which felt awkward for her privacy. However, she said that there was a security guard and it made her feel safe. The Jacuzzi seemed nice, but she said it didn't work at first. They had a maintenance man come and work on it and it started working, which made her happy. It was a simple hotel, but she said her stay was great. She just wanted a mini escape, so she didn't really require anything fancy. She complimented the great customer service, saying they were super accommodating and friendly. She said she slept good and really enjoyed the breakfast. She was very happy with her stay and will be coming back.

To say hate is a very harsh word...but I hated my stay here!!! I stay with THIS brand of hotel for the cleaniness and inside entry access. This location has a outside entry that I wasnt aware of!!! The room I was FINALLY given was around the building with outside entry!! The clerk stated that I should've said I didnt want it...I NEVER HAD TO DO THIS IN RESERVING A ROOM WITH BW!!! The room was smoky and moldy smelling...how do I know...because Im allergic to mold and my nose began to run immediately after sitting for 5 mins!!!!! No complimentary items in room, no acknowledgment of Diamond status, People sitting outside of the room doors!!! I have NEVER EXPERIENCED this!!!! The ONLY part of this stay that was enjoyable was breakfast! Ms. Albertha keep things cleaned and well stocked!!! Never will I stay here again!

Our night started out by changing our sheets. The ones installed were inside out, giving the idea that they were only fipped over instead of being replaced. YUCK! The next morning while packing up to leave, my wife found dried blood on the wall next to the bed ! Double YUCK!!

Customer service was excellent and helpful. Maggie at the front desk was knowledgeable and offered additional amenities. Breakfast had a variety of food and it seemed to be hot and fresh. I had an issue with room and maintenance took care of it quickly. The housekeeper was also very friendly

Bed was uncomfortable, sunken in the middle. Hard for 2 ppl to sleep in the middle of a "queen" bed. It's not a queen! This is our 3rd stay here at this location. Thus is the 1st time we've has issues.

We encountered a problem with the odor of smoke in our room. There was also an issue on check-out with on-duty personnel having such an arrogant attitude. All I was asking for was for her acknowledgement that we did NOT smoke in the room, avoiding a cleaning fee. Her attitude was worse than the smoking odor.

"Worst experience ever at a hotel"

This was an awful experience. I have never had such a bad hotel stay. When we got there, the hotel had the wrong size bed and was late in checking us in. Furthermore, the Internet was not accessible to ALL Apple products, which is ridiculous and was not advertised as such. What really topped off the terrible experience is that the power of the room went out within hours of our stay. When I approached the staff with my problems, the staff did not seem concerned. He brushed us off even though the power was off. I asked to speak to the manager and the staff immediately said the manager was unavailable. He asked him to take down my number so that the manager could call me and no one ever did. This was the absolute worst experience of my life. It made my trip stressful and I am disappointed I had to pay for it.

It's not the Best Western you expect. The room smelled bad when I arrived and so it was for the rest of the stay. The bathroom doors and floor were sticky, no hot water for the shower at any time. Underwear not mine on the ground under the hanger, stayed there all the time of the stay so I deduce that the cleaning and the reorganization of the room was done or managed with little professionalism. But the worst thing was the two cockroaches that were traveling in the bathroom on the floor. Overpriced compared to the service offered.

My experience at Best Western Gastonia was overall very good. Very comfortable rooms, with many good restaurants nearby. Courtesy breakfast was also very good, with a wide variety of choices. Only mild problem was I had some minor trouble operating the shower.

Rooms were great and Breakfast area exceptionally clean with the most inviting Kitchen server, Alberta! She was amazing. The cleaning staff was always working very hard and room were very well kept while we were there. Gala was assigned to our room and she was extremely accommodating!!

Front desk was quick and easy. Room was on the lowest floor. Clean and felt safe. Even though the hotel is close to the highway I slept like a baby. I've been to hotels that other guests are louder than the highway! Good breakfast, lots of people but everyone was pleasant. Would stay here again but get a jacuzzi suite next time!

Made reservations on the road the day of stay. Staff was extremely courteous in making reservations. Check in was fast and efficiently accomplished. Room was nicely appointed and breakfast was good. The hotel is right off the interstate so if you're on the highway side you will hear the traffic. A couple of restaurants within walking distance is very convenient.

The location of the hotel was perfect for my business stay in Gastonia for two days. There were several good restaurants near by and within walking distance. The check-in/ front desk and breakfast staff were outstanding and showed off their excellent professionalism and training in doing their jobs; however, the facility is in need of some up fitting. I was placed on the back of the hotel and near the highway which was a little noisy but after a nice meal next door I hardly noticed. This is a no frills hotel and hardly worth the price over $100 a night but over-all because my stay was last minute... what can I say other than, You learn as you go!:-) Would I return in the same circumstances? yes, but I would request not to be on the back of the hotel nearest to the highway traffic or a 20% discount off the price.

We had booked online to get a good rate for 3 days and were pleasantly surprised! For such a great price we fully expected our room to smell like stale cigarette smoke or dirty feet. Not so! Our room was very clean and smelled fresh the moment we opened the door. The hotel staff was so friendly, even the maids in the hallway took time to say to say hello. The breakfast was awesome. They had toast, waffles, cereal, biscuits and gravy, sausage and more. It was great. There was a lot to choose from. There are several restaurants in walking distance and a mall was very close by. We loved this hotel. We will definitely stay again!

All the basics were covered here. Good clean quiet and comfortable stay. Breakfast was very enjoyable and the rooms did not smell of smoke. We came down for a wedding and looked for a place to stay. "Looks are deceiving"

We had been on the road for hours. We want to rest and play a little before heading home so we stop oustside was clean. The gentleman at the front desk was a lil busy with a guest so i looked around an was like ok very nice and clean. The gentleman was polite and professional got the rm 228 and it was clean. Were drained so i jump in the shower an we only have 1 towel. So i told my man that we only have 1 so me gotta share lol he was like this some bull**** call when u get out so i tried but the damn phone didnt work either so at this point im pissed cause we dont want to leave the room so he dried off with 2 hand towels lol. We tried to cut the tv on an guess what it didnt work either i was like f*** it let rest and play an go to the kids lets just say it was a waste of $90

The staff was friendly, room was immaculate and the prive was very affordable. We we're Evacuating Florence and stayed here before heading home. Was highly impressed and overly satisfied! Will stay here again if I am ever back in the area!

very pleasant and would use this facility again. staff very helpful. free breakfast was outstanding with multiple choices. overall the motel was clean and up to date. station options on tv left something to be desired.

Stayed here for one night based solely on price compared to the other hotels in the same area. You get what you pay for. In this case, the room smelled, the lighting in the room wasn't enough, and the pillows were awful. The free WiFi kept kicking me off as well. The buffet breakfast was good and the attendant watching over it was very nice and attentive. The location is nice as there is a Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse, and a Waffle House all surrounding the hotel. But it is right off the highway so we could hear cars all night long.

"Bad Smell"

I didn't read the TA reviews before we booked our room (314); we were just driving and pulled over once we got tired. This place was a little cheaper than the others (but still met our criteria of free parking/wifi/breakfast and a pool) so we decided to stay. But I wish we would have read the reviews before booking because in reading the 5 most recent reviews, two of them mention a bad odor and that is absolutely what we noticed as well. I noticed that one of the other reviews mentioned their room was 315, so maybe it's just the third floor? Anyway, it stinks and I'm glad we're only here for one night! We paid $84 plus tax (12.75%, which was $10.71) for a total of $94.71. If I had to do it over again, I would have paid the extra $15-$20 to stay in one of the other nearby hotels (Hampton Inn or Comfort Suites).

After dropping our teenage grandsons off at their parents my husband and I were traveling on to the Biltmore in Asheville. The night prior to our stay at the Biltmore we stayed at this Best Western. After a week of traveling with our grandsons and having to chose “teenage type' restaurants, we were ready for something more upscale. Most of the restaurants around the hotel were fast food or chain restaurants so we almost decided to skip dinner. However Caroline, the reception on duty, told us about a fabulous restaurant in town and wrote detailed directions to it. She made our stay extra special. Our room was clean and comfortable. The ac was adequate and we did not hear traffic on I 85 in spite of the location (and I am a very light sleepier). Caroline, however, with her friendly and knowledgeable demeanor was the real plus in this Best Western Plus Hotel.

"Odor Aggrevated Asthma"

There was a terrible odor that aggrevated my asthma in the room. Had to check out immediately even though we went to the store and brought some lysol. In addition to the unknown odor, it was obvious that previously there was smoking in the room

"Good except for the smell ??"

I usually look for Best Western hotels when traveling because they are usually a great value, clean, and comfortable. First the positives. . . All of the staff I had encounters with were very kind and courteous. The grounds were well kept, and our room was very clean. The furnishings were in good shape, the room was comfortable and looked nice. . . However despite being clean, our room (315) had the most horrendous smell! I'm not even sure what it was. . . . but it hit you as soon as you opened the door! Unfortunately, we arrived late at night and didn't feel like dealing with switching rooms. We were there for 3 nights and it never got better. Fortunately, the only time we were there was to sleep! The other thing that was somewhat strange is the pool directly beside the interstate! I will absolutely continue to stay at the Best Western chain but I suggest that this particular hotel has the carpet removed!!

We stayed here because it was half way between our former home up north and our next home down south, it allowed dogs ($30 fee), and it was on I-85. Made the reservation online and it was ready when we checked in. The clerk/manager was friendly and efficient. 3-story hotel with no elevator; don't know if it was just out of order or if they really don't have one. Room was clean and had a decent refrigerator. Our room was opposite the interstate so we were shielded from the road noise. There are 3 restaurants next to the hotel: a breakfast place, a steak joint, and a Cracker Barrel (not recommended unless you like breaded grease). Wouldn't want to spend a week here but for an overnight stop it was fine.

This was our third time We stay here. Every time has been Great. All the People are Very Nice and Friendly. The Rooms are Clean and Beautiful. Would Highly Recommend to stay here. There is Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse, & Waffle House all in walking distance. It's right off of I-85 too.

"Mediocre Stay and Disappointed"

We were well aware that we were not getting the best hotel when booking this hotel. Based on the ratings we were expecting at least a little better than we got. We arrived at 2:00am and the front desk receptionist was flirting with a random man that was not staying at the hotel. She was embarrassed when I walked in and the gentleman quickly walked outside. She was cordial but I was put off when she made a copy of my Driver's License. I haven't had a hotel do that in the past. She also double charged me for the room which was fixed within a few days. The manager was pleasant to deal with and make the correction right away. I wasn't put off by the older rooms but we had a huge roach greet us right when we walked into the room. This hotel is also by the highway so we fell asleep to cars passing by all night. It is an older hotel which is fine but I think it is overpriced and we were put off by the roach when entering the room. Great location if you are leaving Charlotte and wanting to get on a close by highway. The breakfast also had fruit flies landing on the food when we entered the breakfast area.

After a long days drive from Charles Town, WV we were eager to arrive at a nice hotel. We could not have asked for more. This was a great location and very clean and quiet. Would stay there again if ever in the area

Try to get a room facing away from the interstate. It's very noisy. The room I was in, the shower didn't work properly, so there was still most of the water coming out of the tub spout. HBO was on the channel list, but there was no HBO.

Stayed at this BW many times. Never disappointed or experienced issues. Very nice staff and always helpful. Possibly one of the cleanest and attractive BW I have stayed during travel that averages about once a month at BW. BW is the only motel I use due their overall service, cleanliness, and rewards program.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on the way to Florida. It was near I-85 with many restaurants near it. It was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and courteous. They served breakfast--standard with waffles, eggs, etc. We would stay here again if in the area.

Lovely, clean, and spacious room. Amenities are exceptional; and, this particular motel is located to many restaurants for any type of budget. They have a full breakfast bar with something for every taste, and that alone adds value to the overall price.

Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hilton or Marriot properties next door. The sink had scalding hot water while the shower could not be made lukewarm. The free breakfast was awful as the sausage patties seemed made of thin cardboard, the biscuits styrofoam and no telling how many times the sausage gravy had been reserved.

Hotel had Bad odor, bathroom too small, breakfast choices were not fresh. Coffee taste fine and bed & pillows were too hard. Heat and ac were too cumbersome to adjust temps. Bathroom fan too loud and shower was not clean to my preference.

"Nice hotel near restaurants; Poor breakfast fare"

We stayed at this B/W during a road trip. Checking in (with Julie?) was handled pleasantly and helpfully. Our room was clean and updated but, being at the back of the building, was facing busy I-85. Our disappointment was with the breakfast fare ... rock-hard biscuits, dried-out sausage patties, low inventory of pastries, both milk dispensers empty. Definitely for the price it was unacceptable.

Very nice stay after a very long drive in a very cold snowy day. Nice location with lots of restaurant at a walking distance. The breakfast selection was awesome and appreciated. The furniture in the room was well put together and the two assics were a nice touch.

We arrived at Best Western about 3:30pm and the woman at the front desk greeted us immediately. She took our information and credit card and then gave directions to our room. She told us the hours for the breakfast and also told us of several good restaurants nearby. We were going to a wedding so we didn't need the restaurants. The breakfast the next morning was very good and the breakfast items were well stocked. There were waffles, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs & sausage, sweet rolls, cereal, boiled eggs in a little refrigerator, along with butter, cream cheese, etc. All in all, a very good breakfast with many choices. The room was clean, the showers were hot and the beds were very comfortable. There was no outside noise to keep us awake, even though the expressway was close. Very easy to get to from the expressway.

The room we got was a bad odor in and the linen on bed was dirty had smudges on sheets and pillow case. When reported for new room next to it. Odor still bad had to buy Lysol and air freshener for room. Sheets were clean but utilized on comforter because of previous bed

"Quite a nice hotel"

This hotel provides nice rooms which appear to be recently painted and decorated. Bathroom is small but clean. The only negative was that the carpeting looked a bit frayed on the edges. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special. Overall it was a good hotel.

Overall, the stay was fine. We just slept there so didn't actually do a lot in the room. We could not get access to the internet and the toilet took forever to flush. Hot water was a bit of a wait as well.

Johnny, night clerk, was very courteous and professional. Room was clean and comfortable. Only complaint was tub/shower water was only luke-warm even with letting it run a long time. The best part of our stay was the clerk at check-in. The price we paid for the room did not match the quality of the room. The bed was hard and three days later, I'm still in pain from the quality of the bed. The microwave was filthy with food leftovers/splatter, the bathroom was filthy.

"An Ok Best Western"

Stayed at many Best Westerns this was not one of my favorites. Nothing bad exactly, but nothing great either. The parking lot is quite tight, there is parking around the back of the building also if the front lot is full. The entire place seemed on the small side, there is a very small lobby area/check in area with a few chairs and a table. The bathroom is very small, and the toilet did not work really great. The bed was ok, but the pillows appeared to be half size pillows, not standard size. The room we had was a good size overall though, we had a king bed with a loveseat and desk/chair. The hotel is right next to the highway, but we did not encounter any noise issues. Our room overlooked the side of Texas Road House, again no noise issues, but did have some issues with bright light coming into the room, even with though the room window was quite small. We had a room on the second floor, no elevator, so request a room on the ground floor if you have trouble with stairs. They did have a free breakfast but we skipped it so can't speak to the quality. Plus side, if you want to walk to a restaurant. It practically shares a driveway with Cracker Barrel, Waffle House and Texas Road House. We opted to go to dinner at Texas Road House, 10% off if you show your room key. You can walk there in about 30 seconds. At first it appears as there is no access to the restaurant from the hotel, but there is a walkway into their parking lot from the side of the Best Western, towards the back of the hotel. Front desk check in and check out with friendly staff. So again nothing bad, but if ever in the area again I likely would try a different hotel.

"I-85)stay if you don't need handicap access"

My wife, aged mother-in-law and I stayed here for six nights as IRMA evacuees from Florida. Georgia was booked when I made my reservations and this location was about the best I could get on short notice. I was on the phone for over a half-hour with the Best Western reservationist and she was extremely helpful. I'll start with the good points: The location was a solid 5 with great access to the highway (I-85), restaurants (including three within 100-150 feet from the front door), and shopping. The location was a quick 20-30 minutes from downtown Charlotte sites. The staff was a solid 5 - everybody was very helpful at all levels. When I needed an extra night's stay it couldn't have been easier. Breakfast was very good with hot and cold choices. The only nit here was that they could have offered non-pork meat choices more often (they had an extra bin for it). Coffee in the lobby 24/7, including decaf, was a definite plus - never had to make any in the room. Room and beds were comfortable but furniture was a little old (a nitpick). Where both the room and the facility fall short was lack of true handicap accessibility. My mother-in-law is wheelchair-bound and the bathroom door in the room was only 2 foot wide - VERY DIFFICULT. Close down the hall was a handicap access restroom with a very wide door but NO BARS or RAILS. This would fail ADA requirements. Bottom line, if you don't need handicap access then this facility would approach a 5 but my average rating is 4.2.

"A faux Best Western"

The worst hotel ever. Do not stay here! This hotel/motel converted to a Best Western. Weed smoking, no elevators, vending machine broke, people sleeping on stairwells, cheap paint and fixer up job. Staff horrible!

"Convenient to resteraunts"

Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The location is so convenient. A few steps and you are at the Cracker Barrell. Other places close by. The hotel is nestled in to a tight spot. The BW breakfast was good and super clean, thanks to Alberta. We were on a trip to Florida for a wedding, and it served our purpose well.

I came down to Gastonia on business and it was selected mainly because of price (AAA discount) and location (Waffle House, Texas RoadHouse, & CrackerBarrel) all just a few steps from the hotel. I stayed in a Single (KING BED) room which also had a couch and desk. I was overly surprised at how comfortable the bed was and having a place to sit besides a chair or on the bed was greatly appreciated too. The overall trip was simply impressive and extremely comfortable. I almost didn't want to get up to go to work the next day!

"Eclipse trip"

Check-in was smooth; Michael did a good job. Next morning the breakfast was good...waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon SOS, cereal, Danish, oatmeal, etc. Alberta keeps everything clean and it makes for a nice buffet.

"Last resort"

Took a chance on pre-eclipse stay; so beggars can't be choosers. Quick polite checkin; room was exterior door highway side. Nonsmoking room however reeked of old smoke. And each time someone outside would be smoking or an engine running, the smells would be pulled inside by the air conditioning. Capet had a disturbing moist feeling; kept my shoes on as long as possible.

"A little disappointing"

For the three days I was there the vending machines were out of order. There were times when I look forward to a drink and or some crackers a candy. The overall appearance of the hotel was good. The breakfast service was excellent. It was typical breakfast food but the area is kept clean and the food was well stocked at all times.

"Caring staff"

Our check-in was great. Kelly was very polite and knew how to do her job. After check-in, she called our room to make sure everything was OK. Nothing outstanding at breakfast, but the person taking care of that area was very friendly. We would stay at this location again. Only downsize was the fact there were no elevators.

"Too high priced"

Not a good value, not enough parking, not enough lights around parking area at night. The hours for breakfast was incorrect, missed out on that. Had to go elsewhere to eat breakfast. I stayed there and paid extra just because you offered it. Bad experience period. Will definitely be leaving a bad review on the website, unless you make it right.

"Great hotel staff but really poor housekeeping"

We found the operating staff of this hotel to be very friendly and customer oriented, but housekeeping is very poor (and obviously not well supervised.) I would hope that the Best Western Corporate people would look into the housekeeping problems in this establishment, and strive for improvement.

Great place to spend a few days if you're in town for business or visiting the hospital just minutes away. Nestled in a few Hotels on Remount Road, Best Westerns location and price beat everyone's on the block. The Eastridge Mall is also just minutes away.

This motel is within walking distance of a few restaurants and minutes away from more restaurants and shopping. Very convenient. Even though it sits right off of interstate 85, it's very quiet inside the hotel .

Horrible. Worst experience I have had at a hotel. Ac was broken, no hot water. Entire hotel smelled. Ending machines were broken. Eggs are microwave. Eat at the Waffle House. Spend your money or your company's money elsewhere

Caring and attentive staff! I found the room to be a good quality and also a good value. The staff was helpful in changing dates that needed to be changed as well as getting items that were needed. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay here again.

First off I will say that the staff we were able to speak to were very friendly and accomodating. Before arriving we had contacted the hotel due to our delayed flight to assure our late arrival, and they were very considerate. The breakfast was very good with many choices. Although there is a lot of road traffic if you stay to the back of the hotel, it is to be expected when staying close to the highway. The biggest problem we had was a wet bathroom floor on our first night of arrival. We originally blamed our daughter for not putting the curtain inside the tub. We didn't spend much time in the room as we were visiting relatives so the second night was uneventful. On the third night we all showered and went to bed. Late in the night my daughter went to the bathroom, came back out woke me up and said "Hey before Dad gets mad at me about the wet floor, I just had water drip on me from the ceiling!" I did not get up and check right away figured the morning would be soon enough. Sure enough the next morning our bathroom floor was soaking wet as were our towels on the rack above the toilet. I then noticed water dripping from the ceiling tiles. Toilet water, shower water? Who knew? We told the front desk and the lady kindly gave us a new room in order to get ready as we were checking out that day. We also informed them that the hair dryer had not worked since arriving, but it wasnt the end of the world. She thanked us and informed us that they couldn't offer any discount since we had booked through a third party travel website, but suggested we contact the travel site directly upon returning home. We did this, they contacted the hotel and were informed that no refund would be offered since we did not report the problem immediately. Moral of the story...report problems immediately and find out who will be responsible for problems experienced when booking online!

Love this hotel and whenever I am in Gastonia I will be staying here!! Love the pool, and the people!! I have stayed twice and have been pleased both times!! Check in was really quick. I was settled in my room quickly and the front office called to ensure that things were good with the room.

"Not a good experience"

The freshly shampooed carpet was still wet, leaving our socks wet, and bare feet sticky. The front desk staff declined our request for a different room. The bed sagged on the side nearest the bathroom, making sleep difficult. There was a spider web in the corner of the ceiling, near the bed. I would not recommend this hotel.

My hotel stay at Best Western was excellent. The breakfast and coffee was great also. The hotel staff was very courteous. The lobby interior was state of the art. The hotel was adjacent to three restaurants which made it very convenient within walking distance.

"Roadtrip from Richmond to Atlanta"

Best Western was our motel of choice on this trip and we were able to locate this motel exactly where we hoped to stop for the evening. This Best Western was located in an attractive, safe and convenient area with several nice restaurants and service stations nearby. Also across the interstate was a nice mall should shopping have been desired. Had our return trip been on I-85 we would have tried to stay here again.

"just an overpriced MOTEL"

1st room the carpet was soaking wet and housekeeping barged in 2x.The hot water did NOT work in the 2nd room ( barely lukewarm ).It was outside near the highway so I didn't get any sleep.I left in the middle of the night.

"Not Good!"

Look for another Best Western... this one is not one you want to stay in. The room had a bad odor when we walked in. There were two strands of long black hair on our bed sheets. The back of the bathroom door was sticky and hand hand prints all over it. The carpet was dirty. But, the worse thing of all was the two cockroaches crawling up the side of the window in the breakfast area.

"Don't Be Excited About This Place"

The rooms are not very clean. Do not touch the bathroom door on either side. It is sticky. Makes you wonder... The carpet is filthy and you would think they would clean the bathrooms at least once per month, regardless of how many guests use the room. In other words, stay at the Hampton Inn across the street

"Worst hotel I've ever stayed in."

I wanted a partial refund. But the "assistant manager" at the front desk would not even allow me to speak, wouldn't give me her name or anything like that. The first night I arrived there was hair in my sink (unacceptable) but I let it slide because I already had been on the road all day, all I wanted to do was lie down. And then the whole time I was there, my room was never serviced with towels. I had to call the front office for those and spoke to the gentleman working the shifts. Also the last night I was in town I came back to my room full of bugs in the sink. I had to again call the front desk and have Micheal come rid the bugs, because I wasn't about to touch the filth. I travel often and have never received such horrible customer service and seen such filth and the way you all don't consider your customers... I'm surprised you're even still in business. I have family in gastonia and I will NEVER stay there again. In fact I'm tempted to google and facebook review your hotel and share just how nasty you all treated me.

"Paid twice for an Awful room, uncomfortable mattress and worst customer service ever"

Refused our reservation. Charged us $40 more for stay. I prepaid so basically had to pay TWICE for an awful room. The Customer DIS service number was a joke. The door was so sticky a paper would hang on. The security latch was broken in 2 pieces as if it had been kicked in. The bathroom light flickered so bad it was like a strobe. Made you sick to use the light. Toilet was very hard to flush. The mattress was like sleeping in a canoe. High on both sides and lumpy in the middle. Motel 6 has better customer service, and accommodations at half the Price.

"Visiting Charlotte"

We visited friends in Charlotte. This hotel has easy on/off for I-85. The complimentary breakfast is very good with wide selection of items. There are several restaurants within walking distance and Gastonia is easily accessible for more options.

"I-85 room with a view"

Loud but nice people. low cost and clean. Seemingly rough clientele but business people like constriction workers doingbwork on expressways is always noisy. Crowded all the time with work trucks and all sort of large vehicles

It was a good value, clean, safe, a little outdated but expected for the area and cost, next door to Texas Roadhouse, Cracker Barrel, and Waffle House and the highway. Surprisingly quiet. Would have liked to have some brochures for things to do in Western Washington available. Did not get to experience breakfast on this trip so cannot rate.

"Bring a Weight Lifter but the Service is Amazing!"

Best Western Gastonia is the perfect shopping location. It's perfectly centered between a major mall and some great shops just a mile away. Great restaurants in the area too. The hotel service is pleasant and the staff extra helpful. If you have lots of luggage and don't want a hernia, you will need to bring a weight lifter along to help. There is not an elevator available, but there are only two flights.

When I travel, which is frequent, my main concern is getting good rest to make the remainder of my trip easier. This did not happen at this hotel. The guest staff and hotel accommodations were great! I would say that the hotel is a good value, but the bed was so uncomfortable it really ruined my stay. I would not rebook here for this reason alone.

"Just OK"

I stayed at this Best Western in April of 2017. Although it is easily accessible from the Interstate, the traffic on that busy road kept me awake most of the night. I was on the first floor (no elevator to the second floor) but would have gladly walked to the second floor for a room on the opposite side of the building. The breakfast was ok ....food was barely warm. The person at the desk was friendly and helpful.

This was a nice place right off the interstate. Place was clean and staff was friendly. Nice room with fridge and large TV. Breakfast was not great at all, most items were barely warm. I would stay there again.

"Free breakfast was a joke. Priceline ripoff."

I used the best value 3 star hotel feature on Priceline. This is what we got for $55 + $16 tax The room was okay. The security door from the outside was open at 10 p.m., 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Obviously I didn't sleep well. I went for a walk at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. 2 people were sitting in the smoking area drinking beer. They were still there when I went to check on my car at 2 a.m. I went for another walk at 5 a.m. and they were gone. The breakfast was horrible and they were out of eggs, sausage and bread. There's no fitness center. Another concern I had was when I checked in I provided my license and a credit card for incidentals. I was told I already had a MasterCard on file. I don't have a MasterCard. The attendant said,"no problem" and put my Visa on file. Priceline had no record of me ever having a MasterCard on file. I wouldn't stay here again and I'm losing faith in Priceline.

Nice king room, microwave, fridge, coffee-maker, sofa, small desk, separate bath and closet. Hotel had been updated, but was not newer build. Had toilet-flushing issues but they were resolved quickly and competently. Nice breakfast included in updated lobby area. Best was location among several restaurants: Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, and Texas Road House.

The staff (day and night) were great!! They were THE most courteous and accommodating staff I've ever met. The night desk clerk called up to the room a few minutes after we got in to ask how everything was. The late night staff is also very attentive to the hall cameras & was on the phone to police immediately after spotting suspicious behavior. It wasn't the staff's fault a parent rented a room and left it to their hoodlum kids. :-( The bathrooms appear to be completely new. The room was dirty. A trick I always do: pull the bed away from the wall. There was dead stinkbugs, candy wrappers, and layers of dust. The bed sheets had burn holes, but I got a non-smoking room... and a strange sock in the corner - not ours! However, the weekend cleaning staff (Saturday) vacuumed, dusted and made it look 100% better - thank you! There's no workout room (just one little spot with a treadmill would be nice).

My husband and I have stayed in many motels or hotels in the last 12 months. We chose to look into staying at the Best Western Gastonia in North Carolina for a "get away night". We were not disappointed. The pricing was right in our budget. We have stayed at the Best Western in Atlanta, GA and in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and we are NEVER disappointed in their service to use.

"Could use some improvements"

The carpet outside of rooms near the ice machine stays wet. This will lead to mildew. Non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. The bathtub would drain extremely slow. The beds are hard. Not a lot of room in the breakfast area. Room towels had yellow lines on them.

Staff was very great and eager to help in anyway. The rooms were very clean and very up to date. Close and convenient to restaurants. Very nice breakfast bar with fresh fruit and convenient to go bags if you're in a hurry. Highly suggest you stay here, you won't regret it

If you expect a nice clean place to spend the night and be refreshed the next morning this is not the place to stay. It is difficult to sleep when you wake up and find cockroaches in your bed and on the ceiling. There are other hotels in this area which offer the same rates and better quality.

The room was clean and a nice size. The transformers blew in the middle of the night so we didn't have any AC but we did get money back so it all worked out! The continental breakfast was okay, the biscuits were hard though. It's very close to everything and would definitely stay again if visiting family!

Spent the weekend here and it was nice for the price. No issues aside from stairs and that's just because I'm lazy. Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good, and my boyfriend loved the misting option on the shower head in the bathroom. Definitely will stay here again soon.

Stayed here before. A nice place with very nice employees. Check-in and Check-out problem free. The room is very nice. Places to charge devices are adequate. Breakfast was standard fare. Breakfast room was very warm. Needs a fan of some wort.. I used a coupon with no problems at all. This I liked a lot. Easy access from I85. If you use the outdoor pool bring ear plugs. Not for the water but for the truck traffic that seems to be close enough to touch.

I don't complain here. I will tell you it's .an average motel. The rear part faces the interstate. The rooms (We got 2) are typical style, nothing fancy. The beds are for a motel thats lower in price. They are slightly lumpy. The a/c struggles to make the room cool, it's a wall unit near the door. So turn it on and go out to eat unless you don't mind it a little warm at first. Try to find or down load the app for The original red guide Travelcoupons.com The room is worth what's in that book, but no more. They do have a hot breakfast.

-- from what I saw the only upgrades so far, were the TV, marble vanity, and granite in the bathroom. -- old mattress, old pillows (found hair on one of pillows), old furniture, old Jacuzzi tub, old lighting fixtures, old linen, old shower curtain, old shower fixtures, old toilet, old carpet, stale/musty smell in room (#109), old door locking mechanism; although door closed and was able to be locked, it did not fit flush up against the door frame. Also door did not automatically shut behind you, safety issue. -- room was not thoroughly cleaned - found hair on one of the pillows, musty/stale smell in room, roach feces by lamp on one of the night stands, debris in crevices of bathroom floor, stains on ceiling/possibly old water leak, desk shaky, bedframe not secured to floor and wall, mattress had sink in middle area, old spring mattress, lamp shade had stains, old sheets/pillows/bedspread/towels. --upon check-out, desk clerk attempted to explain that I got a deal in terms of the rate for a Jacuzzi room; I explained that I was there on business and I did not request that room. I would have rather had a clean, modern room, than what I was assigned.

"The Staff Made it a Four Star"

This Best Western was a one night for me coming into the area for meeting the next day. It was okay.. and the room was clean. Somebody a few reviews ago went out of their minds that their room was so dirty it ruined their life. The staff must have read the review and made changes. It is well located with a steakhouse on the left and a Waffle House also next to it. I needed that Waffle House. The hotels hot breakfast was pretty bad.. I tried.. but ended up pouring my scrambled egg soup back into the chaffing dish// no meat.. no sausage gravy... and water soaked scrambled something or other... no problem.. the Waffle House worked well. Although if you are choosing the place for a hot quality breakfast.. you may want to re-think it. Why Four stars? Clean.. pretty comfortable, the wifi worked, well located, and each of the staff were gracious hosts one and all. It's a pretty good value for the money.

All employees that I dealt with(front desk & breakfast) were all extremely helpful & nice. Had no issues with the room other than I-85 within hearing distance of our room. Bring your own pillow as most Bw"s have gone too small soft pillows. Probably had an issue with pillows disappearing is my guess for the switch.

I stayed here for 6 nights in August. Beds are comfortable, and staff was friendly. Pool was outside and always empty. Breakfast was just ok. Close to highway, so could hear some traffic at night. Overall a nice stay.

This hotel is right off of the interstate and very convenient to many restaurants in the area. The room was very comfortable, as the bed was nice, and clean bathroom, but the A/C had a difficult time keeping up with the heat. I have stayed here before and always had a pleasant experience. Only one problem, which didn't bother me; as there is no elevator. Elana who checked me in, was very nice, and friendly, which always makes a difference. I would stay there again.

I booked this hotel last minute on Hotels.com last night. I wasn't planning on stopping, but too tired to continue my drive. I selected it because it was under $100 ($96 with tax), the photos looked beautiful AND because visitor reviews rated it as "good." They were wrong. So wrong. :( The front desk rep was very nice. Despite it being midnight, she was still very friendly. The lobby was alright. It was obvious that it was spruced up enough to take really nice photos, but there was no fooling the eye in person. That was the only positive part of the stay. I was assigned Room 326. Although I'd only be there one night, I did have my large luggage, as this was a drive home from a longer vacation. Looking around for the elevator, the front desk rep told me there was no elevator. The only rooms available on the first or second floor were outside in a different building, and I didn't feel safe in the outdoor building so I opted to stay in 326. I thought the room was going to be nice based on the photos, but again, those are thanks to photoshop and a good photographer. Updates were cosmetic, but the room was gross. The obvious surfaces appeared clean, but the light switches, walls, corners, floors, etc - anything above or below eye level was gross. I'll upload some photos as proof. The room was just Gross. The outlet behind the bed was coming out of the wall and unsafe. The little signs that said "no smoking " and "be green and reuse towels" had grime and nastiness clumped on them. But it was obvious that the no smoking sign was ignored. I have a very sensitive nose to cigarettes and have asthma- my lungs don't lie! There was definitely residual cigarette smoke in the room. When checking out, the breakfast looked decent, but I couldn't eat from a kitchen after seeing their disregard for cleanliness.

This property is a 3 or 4-floor property, but it DOES NOT have an elevator! The lack of an elevator is not revealed in the description of the hotel on the hotel's website or on the bestwestern.com reservation site. The rooms on the back of the hotel directly face busy I-85. If you can't negotiate stairs and need a 1st floor room, they are located on the back. The noise is horrible all night making it very hard to sleep. NOT THE PLACE TO STAY UNTIL IT IS UPDATED!!!

The 3 of us in my family traveled with another 3 person family. We only stayed 1 night. We both booked rooms with a king size bed and a sofa. We were upgraded to a jacuzzi room. It had a king size bed and the jacuzzi tub in the main room. There was no sofa so our son slept on the floor. This wasn't a huge deal for us. The jacuzzi was used so we didn't want to change our room. Our rooms were on the ground floor with outside doors to the parking lot. Our rooms were facing the highway so traffic could be heard. The pool was adequate. It didn't look like the chemicals were regularly checked. The bed and pillows were very soft and that made for a rough night sleep for us. If you like softer pillows and mattresses, then you will be fine. The breakfast was pretty good. Make your own waffles and pancakes, scrambled eggs (no one that ate these liked them), bacon, biscuits, sausage gravy (everyone in our group that ate this loved it), breads, cereal, juices, coffee. There were bowls for fruit, but no fruit was available. The manager was very nice. When we were checking in, she was on the phone with a customer and she was very professional and helped to diffuse the situation. The ice machine didn't work. The soda machine cost $1 for a can of soda. The snack machine didn't take bills. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful when the snack machine didn't give my son his snack. He gave my son money to replace what was lost. I would go back to this hotel, but would request staying in an inside room.

I had reservations for approx. 2 months & when I arrived my party was given rooms wherever the staff could find to put us. I had to climb stairs although I requested Lobby floor rooms. I have a very bad back & my mom who was with me is 80 yrs old & was forced to climb stairs as well. Bad experience.

Was given the keys to a room that was already occupied. Front desk was unprofessional and rude. Management offered to refund $45 but they took another $45 instead. Called the general manager and all he offered was $25 off next stay. We will never stay here again. I travel a lot for work and stay in a lot of hotels. This was by far the worst. Pool was closed in June

"Pet Friendly Hotel"

We were looking for a pet friendly hotel. We stayed with our small dog. There seemed to be a lot of people but not a lot of room outside to take them out for a "potty" break. It was not easily accessible as there was not elevator. Our room was not particularly dirty, but our dog found lots of different wrappers in the corners. We tried the breakfast on the first morning. I tried toasting an English muffin that was not particularly fresh. I tried to use the apple jelly and it was so hard/gooey that I couldn't get it to spread on my English muffin. I just gave up and we went to McDonalds. We skipped breakfast at the hotel after that first day.

Clean and comfortable. Staff more than helpful and friendly. Ms. Alberta provided a lovely breakfast buffet with the addition of a spoonful of happiness making us feel as though we were guests at her table. We will definitely return, this was our second visit here and recommend it to any others.

Would not stay at the motel again. If you must stay here ask for a room as far from I85 and the road noise as possible. We stayed three nights (should have changed motels). Room was not cleaned well between guests (we found lingerie from a prior guest). Water pressure in bathroom sink was poor. Restocking room was poor. Clerks didn't know how to get to the tourist attractions in Gastonia. Noise from I85 was horrendous and we couldn't sleep at night. Only good thing was the breakfast.

My room was quite awful. Aside from being frighteningly close to the highway, it reeked of cigarette smell (although a "non-smoking room), and was so old and filthy. Clock radio didn't work even for time and an alarm and the windows and doors had not been updated so that all of that road noise came right it. Being in the back of the property was like being in a basement room long since forgotten since the 70's. That and they didn't even have bottled water in the vending machines. What's up with that?

Would never ever stay at this Hotel in my life ever again even if it was free...smelled old and dingy, old fixtures in the bathroom, toilet hardly flushed, shower curtain ripped at the top, and water in Shower took forever to go down... Not to mention the next morning turned on the bathroom light to use the bathroom and a huge Cockroach was booking across the Counter....I screamed and it took off....finally found it few minutes after and had to chase it to kill it...after that we hurried up and checked out--requested refund for the 2nd night as we were not staying any longer..was refunded for 2nd night and 40% discount off of 1st night..never again...worst experience ever.

Although there were several negative reviews, I decided to stay here. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I stayed here. The room was clean, bed comfortable. I liked the size of the refrigerator in the room as it was larger than other hotels I've stayed at. I liked the location as it was right off I-85.

Not a bad hotel, but I cannot recommend it. It is old. It has been updated, but things like wholly inadequate outlets for charging have not been addressed. Even the lamp outlets have been so overly used, that they cannot hold a plug. Oh yeah.... no elevator. What else... when checking in on a Monday afternoon around 5 p.m., there were about 10 people waiting to check in at the desk. It took a painfully long amount of time. The clerk was very friendly, not her fault; the management failed to give her help, to save money. Additionally, the internet was horrible. It was great when no one was at the hotel in the early afternoon, but when everyone was back and using it, forget it. Hallways and bathrooms are painfully small. Overall, nice effort, but non-attention to detail makes me wish the property had been leveled and rebuilt with something modern. I like it when properties aren't wasted, and rehabilitated, but this one hasn't been given the right amount of care. When visiting the area again, I'll choose elsewhere. P.S. Pillows are lumpy as heck. Beds just OK.

"Two Words: Waffle Iron"

My husband and I broke up what would have been a nine hour drive and stayed here overnight. We didn't have a reservation, and the front desk was very polite and got us a room, even apologizing that there were no king beds left (we didn't even request one). I'm a light sleeper so I85 messed a bit with my sleep, but I definitely knew that would be an issue with any of the hotels on that corner. Being able to walk to Cracker Barrel for dinner was a plus and the complimentary hotel breakfast had a WAFFLE IRON (always a perk).

Super friendly and helpful staff (especially Tiffany). Clean, comfortable rooms and gracious, tasty breakfast. The Internet service all but died during the evening hours and the breakfast area was pressed for space, but an outstanding meal. The cleanliness and comfort of our room was great.

The room was fine and staff was nice. I was having no issues until later in the evening I felt something poking into my thigh. I removed the sheets and realized there was a small 1/2 diameter coil tangled in the fitted sheet. I was able to remove it, however while doing so I realized how much hair was on the fitted sheet.

Tiffany was working the night desk when I discovered that an item of sentimental value had been accidentally thrown away. When I reported this to Tiffany - at 10:00 p.m. - she went out of her way to figure out how we could find the item in that day's trash, then put on gloves, went to the dumpster, and went through the trash to help me find this item, which I did. Best customer service I have ever experienced.

The price was nice and restaurants right there. However, I had no hot water in shower, barely luke warm. The sheets are very chintzy and they are the kind that get them little balls on them and are icky. My visit consisted of cars in parking lot with extremely loud music and someones car alarm went off every 20 minutes for a bot 2 hours. The hotel did compensate me for the water issue but I will not stay again, too close to highway. You hear every single car.

This is a combination of hotel and motel all in one. We stayed in a king Jacuzzi room which was located around back with outside only entrance. The room had a strong smoke oder unless you constantly ran the air conditioning unit to filter it back out. When discussing with the staff of this oder, they all mentioned that this has been a continuing problem that they have also complained about to management but has yet to be resolved. Do not put your room key cards anywhere close to any cell phone or computer. They are way sensitive and become demagnetized instantly, making you go back to the front desk to get fixed. The staff mentioned that their system is an older version and they wished themselves that the hotel would get updated so that guests would not have the problems that do not occur at many other Best Western properties that I have stayed at successfully. The breakfast items were nothing to wow about. I've seen better at any other Best Western property.

Thank you for your Feedback! I am surprised to hear that our front desk staff noted a continuous smell of smoke. As noted last year, the hotel is newly renovated. On occasion we will have a guest disobey the rules. A fee of $250.oo is charged as a result and the room is deep cleaned, and aired with an ionizer machine. Ultimately the remaining work is dependent on the units filter. I trust because a Jacuzzi room was requested we were unable to relocate you to a new room. In regards to the room keys, the ability to demagnetize would not be the result of a system error and is in fact common in our industry. We apologize for any misinformation and will follow up with our team. We trust you did have a great nights rest and look forward to welcoming you again.

We have stayed there 4 times now. We only go there when traveling for our stay in NC. The staff is always so very friendly and very hard workers. Our rooms have always been very clean. The breakfast is always a favorite of mine and a good variety. My last stay there over a week ago, I wanted banana's for breakfast and the attendant would tell me if we get our truck tomorrow I will put you some back. She was very eager to please her patrons. Just an outstanding employee and person. I would most definitely recommend to stay here.

In town for a family crisis. We arrived with a reservation for a very late check in, quiet location, at about 5:00 AM. 1. Check in: After an 11 hour drive there appeared to be much ado about nothing at the font desk. The clerk was quiet insistent that multiple identifications be produced. I do carry credit cards in my maiden and married names with photo ID on them. However I carry only one drivers license, not in the name on the card that I used to make the reservation. Some fuss might be understandable, but after 11 hours on the road, it seemed such a fuss fuss fuss. 2. Room Location: Ow! My ears! On entering the hallway the roar of the highway coming from the right was a bit much. Room #1 was only a little quieter and we were too tired to move that night/morning we decided to stay. 3. Room # 1 Cleanliness: Pretty clean looking, except the heavy dust on the floor space between the beds near the night table. I routinely check the beds for evidence of 'Cimex lectularius' and the results here were inconclusive. On one of the beds I found unidentifiable dark fragments between the edge of mattress and box spring. Too tired to move on, I scrunched in with my partner in the other bed, which was clear on the edge that I checked. I slept on my right side and got a good night sleep. 4. Breakfast: My spouse loves waffles but the mix stuck to the iron and had to be scrapped off in pieces. The breakfast attendant at our request sort of sprayed the waffle iron with not enough spray, but that waffle stuck as well. We did not stay for another breakfast due to the discovered evidence of 'Cimex lectularius' and or 'Ctenocephalides' 4. Room # 2 Cleanliness: Next day we moved upstairs (no elevator) to a cleaner quieter location, or so we thought. We spent the day at the hospital. My spouse returned to the not the Best Western to switch rooms then returned to the hospital. That evening, one of the members of our party, who had arrived a day earlier, and was in a different room, discovered numerous bites on her arms! We checked the edges of the space between her mattress and box spring and they were clean, but on checking the middle of the mattress she found a couple of unidentified dead bugs. She did not show them to me. I then checked my newer cleaner room and found in the middle of one of our mattresses a gum wrapper and in the middle of the other mattress one mashed up difficult to identify dead bug and bug fragments! Our entire party fled to the Comfort Suites across the road and performed decontamination procedures until the wee hours of the morning. I discovered two bite marks on my right side. We received a refund from "not the Best Western" for the night we fled. They declined to refund the cost of decontamination (laundry, dry cleaning, a hot hot dryer, and hydrocortisone cream). . Please note: Comfort Suites across the road, no fuss at check in, and no evidence of 'Cimex lectularius' or 'Ctenocephalides'. We did have trouble finding enough quarters for the decontamination.

Our guests security is important as you experienced at check in. Our newly renovated hotel is noted by our travelers as "Surprising clean" "New" with no reports from one much less multiple rooms of flea and bed bug infestations "Cimex lectularius and Ctenocephalides" This is not say that it is not possible that an infestation can happen. You were not located in a pet friendly room, as a result fleas would be extremely rare. Bed Bugs unfortunately travel with travelers. Our executive housekeeper and her trained team will inspect the rooms as per your findings and report to our pest company immediately, should anything be uncovered. Please know nothing was reported prior to your visit. I do hope your family is now safe and healthy and that the trip home was much more pleasurable.

I was in town for a funeral, and stayed two nights. The rooms were very clean. I was actually surprised at how nice they were considering the price. All the staff was very polite and professional. One particular person really stuck out. Alberta is the breakfast attendent. She was so cheerful, helpful, and all around nice person. I had my 9 month old son with me. Alberta helped on both mornings. She carried my plates to my table, personally made grits he was able to eat and brought them to the table. I can't say enough about how sweet she is. I will recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice affordable hotel with lots of friendly faces.

We stayed only one night. The hotel is clean and well cared for. The breakfast area is a bit small but we did not encounter any big group. The breakfast was typical for this type of hotel and had plenty of food and good coffee. The room was decorated and arranged nicely. The bed was comfortable. The shower water was warm but not hot. Talked to clerk the next morning and she said they had the opposite problem a few weeks ago. They have a new boiler and they were working on adjusting it. Everyone was kind and professional. All was well; we would stay again.

We enjoyed our night here. The room was comfortable and clean, the HVAC worked well and was quiet and we did not hear any noise from adjoining rooms or hall. Although the WiFi was not working well at first it was quickly fixed by a call to tech help. We appreciated the hotel's 10% dinner discount at the Texas Road House next door. The full hot breakfast with bake-your-own waffles, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, yogurts, etc. was very good. The women helping with breakfast were among the most helpful and pleasant we have ever come upon in a reasonably priced hotel.

After staying here, I do not plan on staying at anymore Best Westerns. Room next to highway...constant drone of traffic all night, parking lot lights facing directly into room window all night to keep me awake. No elevator, halls are dark with musty cigarette/perfume odor. While taking luggage down the stairway was greeted by workers sitting on steps who could not get up and make room for 5 people coming down the stairs...just sit there and read your paper. The breakfast was good, and the facilities on a general level were clean. Parking is tight, and there are a lot of restaurants within the area.

The hotel has recently been renovated and we are a 100% non smoking facility, that does not however stop some guest from breaking the rules and ruining an experience. I can assure you a $250.oo penalty was charged. Although we often hear from our guest how sound proof the hotel is for an interstate hotel, I do understand sensitivity to noise and light is personal. We were happy to hear enjoyed breakfast. In regards to any staff member sitting in a public area at leisure is not acceptable and will be addressed with all staff members. For the price it should offer more. one of the beds were worn and the other was fine. i did not complain to the workers. the toilet did not have all of the water pressure that it should have. the television was fuzzy. the breakfast was far from being fresh. i would not go back to this hotel again.

My husband and I have been coming here often for about 6years. All of a sudden, most of our favorite employees left. I don't understand. They built their loyalty based on staff that are no longer there. We're thinking about finding a different hotel. Standard rooms, most on an interior corridor. The only pool is outside but they have some jacuzzi suites. Full breakfast, mediocre quality.

I have never encountered a more rude and apathetic person during my many stays at hotels across our country. Upon check in the receptionist was not warm and friendly at all. I was using my fiances cc to pay for our room and when Venus (receptionist) noticed the name didn't match my ID she very rudely asked who jessica was and when I stated she was in the vehicle waiting on me outside she again very rudely stated that she had to come in so she could make a copy of her id. That was not an issue at all. It was they way she spoke to me. Then when jessica comes in with her ID she very aggresivly stated that if we smoked in the room we would be charged.. Neither myself nor jessica smokes so for her to just blurt that out with an attitude really rubbed us the wrong way. Then i proceed to ask whether they offered hot continental breakfast or just cold items and she rudely tells me I need to hold on she's trying to remember and type in some sort of password. Why she felt that I needed to know that is beyond me. Venus has no professionalism or compassion for guest who are staying at the hotel. I will not be coming back and I will be telling everyone I know how poorly we were treated.

This hotel is very clean and friendly. You got 4 restaurants within 1000 feet from the hotel. Room are all updated, I at this hotel at least once a week. There's a big mall within walking distance. Whatever you do don't buy water out of the machines buy it from the front desk cheaper.

The whole motel was clean, in excellent repair, and the staff were just great. They are pet friendly for a pet fee of $20.00. The pet fee is a significant percentage of the room rate so I see that as a negative. The breakfast was excellent. The area was clean, the food was fresh and good and the hostess was just great.

"Fall Trip"

My family and I had a great stay here. We came to enjoy the area for the fall season and really felt welcome in this clean friendly place. The front desk staff was helpful and quick to serve. Our favorite interaction was with Alberta in the breakfast area. She was so great, we looked forward to our meeting her each new day. My 6 yr old son even sang "Happy Birthday" to her before we left. This is a wonderful place for families to stay.

"Great Hotel near Kings Mt"

The staff is friendly and very helpful. The hotel is close to Duke Energy training center in Kings Mt, The Breakfast was well stocked and fresh. Eggs, grits, sausage, biscuits, cereal, waffles, pastries, milk, juice and fruit daily. Hot coffee all day. A great choice for the price.

Good service, good motel, good value BUT location terrible for noise. Rooms on back side are so near I-85 that sound from trucks ALL NIGHT LONG make sleep difficult--sometime the room would actually vibrate when big trucks went by!

"Nice Place - Good Price"

I would give this hotel a 4 star but for the noise from the interstate. The hotel was recently renovated inside and out. The only thing that they missed during the renovation was replacing the windows with insulated glass, which would get rid of the freeway noise. Breakfast is included, staff and food is good. The hotel is next to a Cracker Barrel, Waffle House and Texas Road House. Also a shopping mall is just across the freeway. Staff is very good. TIP: ask for rooms on the north side to avoid noise from the freeway.

Everything was OK at this hotel, but nothing special. It was clean, comfortable, convenient and friendly. We booked this hotel because of convenience to Cracker Barrel and other restaurants, alas our flight from UK to Charlotte was 2 hours late so the restaurants surrounding this hotel were closed when we got there.

"A weekend stay going to Carowinds"

A very nice clean hotel. Have stayed here before. Easy to find off the interstate. Staff was nice and helpful. Julie was very helpful booking the two rooms we needed, and Michelle checked us in. Even though it was a race weekend the staff handled the check in and all the people very well. I would tell anyone to stay at this hotel.

we were heading home from fla. due to the rain and closing of I95 in SC had to find another route home. after driving all day and it was 9pm time to stop and gastonia was the area. i always check marriotts first as they are my favorite but it was completely booked up. i had a coupon booklet so we decided to try the BW. all 5 or so of the hotels in parking lot looked pretty full, something must have been going on. went to front desk and no one was there, almost left, waited more than 5 min till girl came out. we were given choice of room on 1st floor with cable or room on 2nd floor no cable. chose 1st floor but took hubby awhile to get TV working. coupon said room renovated...not complete bathroom. housekeeping is not good as room and bathroom was not clean and up to my standards but just wanted to take a shower and get some sleep and back on the road. breakfast was good tho the usual, better than i expected. also when u ck in u get the receipt so just leave keys in the room which i have never heard of before. parking was awful, we were told the 1 spot to park. if needed there was a cracker barrel right next to hotel very good walking distance. i dont usually stay at BW as never had a good experience, it has been yrs but dont think i ever will again unless the only place.

The room was clean and spacious. Pam (who was super nice!) made my reservation last minute and was very accommodating. Allows pets which was a godsend for me. Didn't get up in time to enjoy the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again!

Room could have two chairs for a couple to use. It seems that was not an elevator in hotel while it has 3 levels. That would be nice to add chairs. Staff very nice, trying their best to satisfy clients.

"Watch out for the hot and cold water faucet!"

Stopped at this hotel on our way home. The check in went well. The bed was comfortable and they have a nice breakfast. The water is hooked up backwards in the bath sink, so beware. The cable TV was not working and the phone did not work. Thank goodness maintenance came in and plugged in the phone and reset the TV so most stations worked. Front desk said the cable was down, but that was not the case. The tub was slippery, but they did have grab rails. Could not open the coffee pouches and when I finally got one opened, the coffee pouch inside was not sealed correctly, hence grounds in the coffee. At least it is next to Texas Roadhouse, which is one of our favorite spots.

Stayed for 2 nights (wake/funeral). Very clean and updated. The water pressure in the shower head was little strong, which is rare (but I prefer it that way - you get a water massage off of it). Requested ground floor (stairs are too much for my mother) but Customer Service counter rep just checked us in, gave us the key and said we need to park in the back and your room is on the 3rd floor. HMMMM Aside from the stairs and Customer Service not listening, it was great

Check it out, they are just as good as the high price ones. Location is right off the highway, restaurants you can walk to, room clean, updated, breakfast was great. Not noisy since it almost faces t he highway, smoking area outside on grounds, had a pleasant stay.
