Stayed here for 3 nights August 2026, 2 adults and 1 child. Double room with 2 double beds. + Room was comfortable, beds were too, had all we needed including a fridge, extra towels, coffee machine, toiletries in bathroom which was also clean and comfortable. Room also had air con. Location was central to Heavenly. Parking in hotel. Lobby has free coffee making facilities. Hotel offers free bikes. Hotel offers towels for the beach plus chairs, no extra charge. - Parking $10 per night, not advertised at point of booking Hotel is a “motel-style” (UK visitors note it is not like a UK hotel, each room is like a separate apartment with its own exterior door) so to get a second-floor room you need to arrive earlier than the 4pm check-in and they charge $50 for early check in. Second floor is your option obviously but a reason behind the 2nd floor request is there's frequent bears who come to the car park at night. Hotel is off Lake Tahoe boulevard, making it quite noisy at nighttime owing to the exterior-style rooms. Rooms are a little dated (agree with some other reviews) but they are clean and comfortable. Housekeeping only takes place on day 3 and 5, but you can request it earlier. WiFi isn't strong, we ended up using 5G as a result.
Our two-night stay (July 2–3) at Hotel Becket was easily the most disappointing hotel experience of our three-week western road trip. The room was in desperate need of maintenance and deep cleaning. The carpets were heavily stained, the windows were filthy, and there was an astonishing amount of bird droppings—literally piled one to two inches high—immediately outside our front window. It was disgusting and made it obvious that basic exterior maintenance had been neglected for quite some time. The bathroom was even worse. The shower was the smallest I've ever used in a hotel, with soap scum covering the surfaces. The bathroom window tracks were filthy and had black mold growing in them. The shower head was so corroded it looked like it hadn't been replaced in years and the water pressure was nonexistent. The room itself was also uncomfortable because there was nowhere to relax. Other than the bed, the only piece of furniture was a single desk chair. For a room intended for two people, not providing even one comfortable chair or small loveseat is hard to understand. The complimentary breakfast was another major disappointment. The eggs tasted like flavorless instant powdered eggs and were served cold. The sausage and breakfast potatoes were also cold. Even as a free breakfast, the quality was far below what most budget hotels provide. The location is about the only positive thing this hotel has going for it. Unfortunately, a great location cannot make up for dirty rooms, neglected maintenance, and a complete lack of comfort. There are far better places to stay in South Lake Tahoe. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. While we are glad you appreciated our central location, we sincerely apologize that we fell short of your expectations. Please be assured that your comments have been shared directly with our housekeeping and maintenance teams to be addressed immediately. We take your insights seriously as we work to improve our guest experience, and we wish you the best on your future travels.
Both rooms offered smelled musty. The pictures look nothing like the reality of room. Shower curtain fell down, electrical outlets in bathroom didn't work. Sliding door to bathroom would open on its own so you could be exposed in bathroom if window treatment open. Staff friendly, great location and free bikes a bonus. Would not stay there again or recommend it. Also they ran out of on site parking spaces.
Dear David, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet expectations and that you encountered such frustrating issues with your rooms. Please accept our sincere apologies for the disappointment this caused. We truly appreciate you highlighting these areas where we fell short, as we are fully committed to making the necessary improvements for our guests. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with a much better experience. Sincerely, Hotel Becket Management Team
Room was great location supreme right accros heavenly village an 10 min walk from lake
Dear tonytB4138RS, Thank you so much for the great review! We are thrilled to hear you had a wonderful stay and that you loved our supreme location right across from Heavenly Village and just a short walk from the lake. We look forward to welcoming you back to Hotel Becket for another great getaway soon! Warm regards, Hotel Becket Management Team
Our stay was pleasant at the Hotel Becket. We enjoyed its proximity to Starbucks and down town South Lake Tahoe as we could walk most places. What really was a standout was the excellent friendly and courteous staff. Sabrina at the front desk was exceptionally professional and helpful, answering all my questions and a smooth check in. What can make a or break a stay anywhere is the guest experiences with staff- way to go Hotel Becket for doing a supper job in this respect.
Dear joevania, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely review of your recent stay at Hotel Becket! I was absolutely thrilled to read your kind words—this is actually Sabrina from the front desk! It was a true pleasure assisting you during your check-in, and I am so glad that my recommendations and help contributed to a smooth and pleasant experience for you. We love our central location near downtown South Lake Tahoe and Starbucks just as much as our guests do, but we truly believe that it is our team that makes a stay memorable. Your wonderful feedback means the world to all of us here, and it motivates us to keep doing a "supper" job! We hope to welcome you back the next time your travels bring you to the Oregon Coast or right back here to beautiful Lake Tahoe. Safe travels until we meet again! Warm regards, Sabrina
This place shines for its location. Steps away from the Heavenly gondola! As for services I agree with the reviewer from last year that this is motel not a hotel, but that is pretty obvious from the pictures. If you expect the amenities and service of a hotel you will be disappointed. As a motel, it is definitely above average and I felt the price was a real bargain. Charging for parking seems strange as I expect most guests would have cars, not arriving by public transportation. If the hotel needs to spread out whatever expenses the parking lot incurs (maybe a tow service to check the registration), why is that not worked into the room rate. I also agree with others that (1) the breakfast offered is VERY basic -- "full" in the sense that it has meat and eggs and is not just prepackaged danish rolls. If you're picky about breakfast, there are many options close by. (2) Checkin can have mistakes. I arrived at 2:30 for a 4 pm checkin and was willing to wait, but there was no mention that housekeeping would prioritize readying my room so I might be able to get in before 4 pm. The room wasn't ready until 5 pm, but they offered a free drink at the tavern next door. "You get what you pay for" applies, but my stay was perfectly reasonable.
My friend and I came here for a ski week from Jan 2 - Jan 7 2026. We reserved 2 rooms. I'm a Best Western member. We're both in our early 60's. Overall, this is a decent hotel and the location cannot be beat. Unfortunately, at least my room (#216) was in serious need of repairs and updating! The room had damaged light fixtures, light shades, blackout blinds, broken toilet, damaged walls, and stained carpet. And, upon check in, we were informed that cleaning was on a "request only" basis. I thought that was a good thing for the environment. The problem is, it didn't work. I asked for the room to be cleaned the day after our check in, and it wasn't. When I asked why, they said it wasn't noted (although I told the front desk upon checked). The next day, Saturday, I told the front desk that I wanted my room cleaned Sunday, since it wasn't cleaned Saturday. No problem they said. I even called Sunday morning, before heading out to ski, to confirm and was told, "Yes, it's noted." I came back Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't cleaned. I called the front desk and they said "it's not noted." I had enough. I even tried giving one of the cleaning ladies $5 to make sure she'd clean my room on Monday! Monday morning, I went to the front desk and asked to be sure my room would be cleaned....Finally, they cleaned it. Keep in mind, that they do not do anything if you do not ask for a cleaning....no coffee refills, no emptying of trash, no new towels, no making the bed, nothing....We were there for 5 nights and in that time, my room was only cleaned once. Other problems: 1. Front desk staff that is terribly disorganized. They tell you that they will take care of you, but they don't. 2. Broken toilet that wouldn't fill the water tank, so each time I need to use the toilet, I'd have to lift the porcelain top to see if there was water...about 30% of the time, there was not. 3. Black out shades broke twice during my stay and took maintenance 2 hours to fix when I first checked in and then again midstay. 4. The TV stopped working, so I had to do a hard reset twice. 5. The shower head is at an odd angle, so it only sprays you from the torso up. Good luck getting those hard to reach areas! 6. Bathroom walls and mirror had damage, flaking paint, chipping, etc. 7. Ripped lamp shades. 8. Breakfast is great on weekends, but weekdays, they don't offer the full range, e.g. bacon, and they can run out of fruit, juice machine can be broken, no yogurt, etc. 9. Extremely noisy for rooms on the state line side of the hotel, where the breakfast room is. People would party until 2 a.m., dogs barking, outdoor music from nearby restaurants. Good things: 1. Location to Heavenly Village, Gondola, Restaurants, Target, etc. 2. Weekend breakfast layout. 3. Beds are reasonably comfortable. 4. Heating worked well. I would strongly recommend NOT staying in room #216. It was nothing but problems.
Great location and the staff is friendly! Bed was comfortable and glad to hear that they have big plans to rebuild! The tavern is awesome and has live music!
This was a great place, great breakfast and excellent coffee. Close to walking and I LOVED the fir out area. We enjoyed drinks around it and net other guests. The bed was comfortable and the room clean and roomy. The staff were all very friendly
Thank you for the review! We hope you came back and visit us again
Not one of the nicer Best Westerns, Charge $10.00 for parking, shower was EXTREMELY SMALL, noisey and there is no water pressure
Lost our reservation. Waited an hour to check in. Our room had no hot water for shower, right on road could not sleep due to terrible noise from cars all nite. Refrig unit old and so loud cranky we could not leave on. The other room had no window covering of any sort. We waited over two hours for maintenance after asking twice. They never showed up. We had to buy tape and paper to cover bathroom windue as it looked directly into another bathroom window. Beds very soft uncomfortable. Poor quality food for breakfast. Huge disappointment for our Tahoe vacation. Manager tried to be helpful and kind.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your recent stay did not meet expectations. Your experience is not reflective of the standards we strive to uphold, and we regret any inconvenience you encountered. We do want to take this opportunity to address a few of the concerns raised: Washer and Dryer Availability: Unfortunately, during your stay, both the washer and dryer experienced unexpected maintenance issues, which temporarily impacted the availability of clean linens. We recognize how frustrating this was and are actively working to prevent future disruptions. ADA Accommodations: We do offer ADA-accessible rooms. However, these rooms are limited and are available by reservation. On high-volume days, availability can be extremely limited. We always recommend guests with specific accessibility needs contact us in advance to ensure accommodations can be secured. Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues: We take cleanliness and safety concerns seriously. Your comments regarding the shower, carpet, and general upkeep have been shared directly with our housekeeping and maintenance teams for immediate review. We are currently working through updates to the property and appreciate your patience during this time. Customer Service: We regret that your interaction at check-in did not meet your expectations. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. We will be reviewing this with our front desk staff to ensure professionalism and courtesy at all times. While we're glad to hear you found the pillows comfortable, we know that is far from enough to make up for the disappointments you described. We truly value guest feedback—positive or negative—as it helps us improve.
Overly priced for below standard room. I would not consider a “Boutique “ hotel. Carpet filthy, discovered w my bare feet. Electrical outlets did not all work. Burned out light bulbs. AND, the biggest problem is no guarantee parking as there are not enough parking spaces. Then, you have to find street parking and are being charged $10/night. Staff are friendly but not much they could do
Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the room and our parking situation. Your comments are important to us as we work to improve our guest experience. We're glad to hear that you found our staff friendly, but we regret that these issues overshadowed their efforts.
Poor front desk customer service. They charge for parking and it's not guaranteed. Rooms are basic and way to Overpriced
Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we apologize for the issues you experienced with our front desk staff, room quality, and parking. Your comments are important to us as we work to improve our guest experience.
You don't have it listed for Santa Rosa New Mexico.2533 Historic Route 66. The best designed hotel of all. Lighting was terrific. How many times have you walked into a hotel and can't see in the room. With this it was bright when you wanted and great turn down soft lights. No dressers long bench in which to put your luggage. Shades on window, did not have to fight with drapes. See through refrigerator. How many times have you left something. Nice walk in shower.Nice restaurant next store. KUDOS to the person at Best Western that redesigned this Hotel.
This is based off my visit only. First shot out to Eric, for being a great employee and going above and beyond to help accommodate our stay. He is the reason why We gave a 10 for everything. Let's talk about the hotel now It's located at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Park Ave, right across from the Marriott Grand Hotel and Starbucks, and next to shopping centers and restaurants. Best of all, it's just a block away from the casinos — truly a GREAT location. We stayed in a Bunk Bed Bedroom, which is essentially a two-bedroom unit with one bathroom. The rooms are a bit run-down and sure could use some fresh paint and repairs, but all the beds — including the bunk beds — have memory foam mattresses, which made for a comfortable stay. It came with a microwave, mini fridge, and table. 1 dresser drawer and small closets. But I would definitely book a room here again. your next to all the excitement of the city and for a good price. I keep forgetting to take pictures
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback! We're thrilled to hear that Eric made such a positive impression — he truly is a valued member of our team, and we'll be sure to pass along your kind words. We're glad you enjoyed the unbeatable location and found the bunk bed room comfortable, especially with the memory foam mattresses. Your honest comments about the room condition are appreciated — we're currently working on updates and repairs, and feedback like yours helps us prioritize what matters most to our guests. We'd love to welcome you back on your next trip to Lake Tahoe. And if you do remember to snap some photos next time, we'd love to see them!
