Resumen de la reserva
To sum up my stay..bathtub was filthy ..huge roach looking big in tub..stained bedding ..musty smell...AC wasn't great..floor carpet damp...very outdated and dirty looking ended up with bites on my leg after staying here. Wasted 40,000 points to stay here. Very disappointed Diamond Plus member
This hotel is convenient and right off the expressway. It is exit 130 off route 95 south or north is clean. It is comfortable and the people are very friendly. I would not stay at any other hotel matter where I have to go. The best Western hotels are number Rated 5stars in my book try them for yourself you will see
I Repeat do not stay here. The room number was “ROOM 148”There's bugs in these rooms and they say they hire people to come check it out, but they don't. Then don't give discounts or refunds! Do not go through the same thing I did do not book here at allI
Avoid this hotel. Homeless guests, marijuana smoke, badly in need of repair. Awful overall!!!!! Just really tired and old Hôtel. Didn't feel safe as well. Much better options are available. Way overpriced, worth about $20, if that. I was so disappointed in my choice, when I could've had a better stay elsewhere for about the same price. Bar was sticky and in really bad repair.
Excellent location. Close to highway and downtown Waterville. Good size room. Comfortable bed. Pool was nice and warm .
This hotel has had some updates, but you can still see the "old bones" to the place. Tiled areas of hallways, stairwells, and elevators were greasy/grimy underfoot. Housekeeping came by at 9am sharp and knocked on the door. She offered fresh towels and asked if we needed anything else. They did not return later to do any cleaning, so I guess that was the service for the day. On the second day, I put our "do not disturb" sign on the door and had to go seek out more towels. I guess I need to reset my expectations for what a $250/night hotel in central Maine looks like during the summer, as other hotels in the area were in the same price range. A few positives: the breakfast was great, almost tasted home made. (Though you had to go to the front desk every day to get a voucher and the voucher had a highlighted statement that gratuity was not included). The pool also had a deep end (8') which my 12 year old enjoyed.
Our room was shabby and dirty - not even close to what we would expect from a 3 star hotel. Even many of the hallways, stairs and public spaces were soiled and run down - although the reception area and restaurant were clean, and the staff very friendly. I don't know how to square the dirty and rundown room and public areas that we saw with the reviews that say the rooms are clean and comfy. We just didn't feel comfortable staying here, and would never stay here again.
Although the hotel is older and a bit shabby, the staff made up for everything. Everyone, especially housekeeping and dining room) was so accommodating. The location was convenient. Very happily with our stay.
This was my first hotel stay with my pet so I was a little worried how the rooms would be. The rooms and hotel itself were very clean, housekeeping cleaned the room everyday of my stay without asking. The "continental" breakfast was fabulous, with choice of dining in the restaurant or getting takeout, which was a nice surprise. Would highly recommend.
Good room, good front desk, good value, good location, self service breakfast would be easier and quicker and better but full service breakfast was good too. Good restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations in area is helpful.
TOP MARKS! Boy, what a great hotel. The room was perfect, clean, decently lit, the windows up to the task of keeping outside noise outside. Ample electric outlets. A fridge, coffee maker, etc etc. Very comfortable beds. The bathroom was clean, nothing old or broken. Ample towels. Friendly staff. Right next to a Five Guys (if that's a plus for you-- it was for us.) BREAKFAST INCLUDED and decent! Potatoes and eggs (nicely done scrambled eggs) and pancakes. Very impressed. Actual food, not just calories. We were there to be in easy driving distance of the eclipse zone of totality. Perfect spot for us.
They took me in on a rainy night when my original reservation was closed due to a power outage. It is neat and clean, of course, with spacious rooms. The have a wonderful pet policy (free). The have a real restaurant with actual character, that of an Irish pub, not like a diner. They offer a free made to order breakfast instead of herding you through a buffet, served quickly and with a smile. An unexpected wonderful experience.
This is our routine stop when we are coming and going from Aroostook county to Connecticut. We love being able to stop for the night and have dinner at OBriens. It means we don't have to go out for food and the Pub is delicious. All in all this is like one-stop shopping. Very hospitable staff, comfortable rooms and a great pub.
FILTHY, GROSS, UNKEPT, BURN HOLES IN LINENS, UNCLEANED ROOMS, DIRTY TOWELS AND SHEETS, BUGS. Last hotel room available due to conventions in the surrounding towns, charged $300 I has to go buy towels and blankets at Walmart because of the filth. Reached out front desk, Manger and GM no call or resolution etc
Outdated and needs clean up. Upon arrival in the evening looked as if it had been shut down. With no refund reservation we found the lobby ( dark and rather hidden) and asked if it was actually open. Rude receptionist responded middle of week and they were half full with cars in the back. Did not feel safe so found extra blocks to door
Check in went fine and then it went to pot. Elevator quit going to the third floor, where our room was. Called front desk, she just said it needed to be reset “again” and would take a few minutes. Didn't work. Called again. Said they'd send someone up. Very unkempt looking guy came up, pushed the button. Nothing happened. He said “Yep. It's broke” and started to walk off. I asked him how I was supposed to get my luggage to the third floor (I'm 67 and my knees don't like stairs). His response as he walked off was “Not my problem “. And it continued to get worse. We had reservations for two nights and stayed both nights. Hotel very begrudgingly gave me a partial credit for the first night's stay after I explained there was no way I was going to pay the full inflated price (about twice what the room was worth if it it had been a good experience) for such a poor experience. I would recommend this location to nobody— not even my mother in law… We've stayed at numerous other Best Westerns on this trip. Based on what we've experienced, their standards have dropped dramatically over the last four years. I hope they get on top of things.
My first visit to Maine for business and not a lot to choose from. Previously stayed in a BW Plus in NJ, which was immaculate and so nice so thought this might be the same. I was so wrong. This place was so bad I checked out early and left. I also did not feel safe here. How this has any decent reviews is mind-boggling. Room was dirty, sheets you can see through, and the pillow probably came from the dollar store….and they smelled like old sweat which tells me they don't change the pillows. I used the two bath towels and wash clothes provided for a blanket and head protector. Side of the bed was stained with something like vomit, and there were mosquitos (maybe gnats) in the room. I also found hairs in the comforter. I couldn't sleep it was so gross. At 5am the stench of weed is strong as the construction crews start their day. There appears to be a homeless camp On the side of the building and one of the locals told me they housed homeless during Covid so that made sense. I have no idea how this place is labeled a BW Plus or in business. I would not recommend anyone stay here. I would sleep in my car before this place. I gave one star because the front desk girl was very nice.
This hotel is need of a major renovation; paint, carpeting, bathrooms, etc. It is in a perfect location. The staff were as helpful as they could be. The room was clean. The beds were a little harder than what we like.
We just stayed there last night for two nights. I am not sure where the bad reviews come from because our room on the 3rd floor was very clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we had no complaints. I would agree that the elevator could use some cleaning up, but would not judge the entire hotel badly simply because of that. The elevator was conveniently located just inside the exterior door. I did not see anyone smoking inside or smell that and I believe it to be a non-smoking hotel. The staff was very friendly. We had to leave early each morning so did not get a chance to sample the breakfast.
Have stayed here a couple of times. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Right off the highway so great location. Real cooked breakfast is included. Food in pub is great and very affordable, even the beer. If you are a non smoker I would suggest an upper floor.
Happy bunch at the Is facility. Breakfast is not the regular serve yourself but a full service restaurant t Where the breakfast for guests is free. A pleasant surprise. The facility was extremely clean.
Mediocre cleanliness. Quite busy with workers on the road which was not the issue. It was just not a convenient or convenient or comfortable stay. The rooms were second rate and the amenities were next to none. Sadly it was very noisy and the clientele were somewhat questionable.
August 19 & 20th, Best western Waterville, Maine Hotel is located right off I-95 next to restaurants and Wal-Mart, downtown is about two miles away. Room is good size and clean with A/C, desk, TV, frig and microwave. A/C is controlled by wall thermostat and keeps room at constant temperature. Room is nice but bed is very soft and old and broken down on one side. Bath is small and cramped, only one electric outlet, there is no powered vent and floor becomes slippery when exiting shower. Included breakfast is in hotel restaurant with only three choices which is served by restaurant staff. Rooms at this hotel are more expensive than average for this class of hotel.
Clean and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and kind, especially Jenna at the front desk and Robin at the restaurant. The restaurant served a custom-made hot breakfast which was delicious. I would stay here again if in the area.
Main entrance was not wheelchair accessible. Brick had sunken in and created a step that wheels wouldn't go over. Staff at front desk not very friendly. Never offered Wi-Fi password. Hallways near rooms smelled like cigarettes. Dogs barked constantly. Need a separate floor for people with pets. Was in a nice location. Restaurant was nice & food was excellent.
This hotel is in the shape of an "L" with one elevator in the corner. If your room is in the long end, you have a long walk to your room. When we checked in, the guy behind the desk was not very friendly. After checking us in, he said, "To get to your room, drive around the corner and enter door #3." That's where the elevator was located. Our room was nice, the bed was comfortable, but we were not happy with the way he treated us. He told us the restaurant was open until 6, but didn't tell us where it was. Breakfast is fabulous because you eat in O'Brien's Irish Pub, around the corner from the desk. You have one of 3 choices for breakfast and they make it for you. It was delicious.
Unsafe, unclean, do not waste your time or money. We will never stay at this hotel again. Wish I had known. Make to sure to read all of the reviews because the ones talking about the complete absence of cleanliness is true.
This hotel is a total dump. There were bodily fluids on our bedsheets and urine around the toilet with a filthy fridge when arrived. The hotel had police with masks and police dogs in the hotel that Friday to deal with some of the first floor clientele and when we expressed concerns about this, they denied having any police involvement that evening despite us seeing the police with gas masks and canines ourselves. The front desk staff was EXTREMELY rude and would not help address any issues and when we asked why our room was not cleaned, they told us we were lying and that it was….. We had asked several times for the general manager Brian to return our calls and have yet to get a return call. The place is filthy, smells of drugs and smoke and has extremely rude staff. After spending 1100.00 CDN for three nights in a dump , I am not willing to stay at another Best Western hotel.
Seldom do I write reviews. We are traveling here to visit our son in camp. I would consider my standards on par with most middle-class Americans. Bear with me. There are no automatic doors when you enter this hotel. If you intend to carry luggage, make sure somebody is there to help you open the door. the carpet upon entry seem like they haven't been vacuum since 1964. I do not mean washed, I mean, truly, vacuum. There is dirt and dust littered everywhere. I asked for a non-smoking room. It's 2023. Right? The entire first floor is smoking. there are people in the hall smoking cigarettes. We walked over a dirty un vacuumed floor to the elevators on the other side of the hotel. Also, curious, why aren't the elevators at the entrance to the hotel? We arrived in our room to find on the sheet. Granted, they were not bloodstains. However, I would expect a hotel of any caliber to dispose of sheets that are stained instead of washing and reusing. the bathtub was littered with hair, some pubic and some likely not. It was at this point that we decided we would rather sleep in our car. We found an alternate hotel to stay in. Thankfully, we were refunded. On a positive note, the hotel staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. They allowed us to cancel the trip without issue. I cannot over emphasize how much I would discourage anybody from staying at this hotel, unless you meet the following criteria; (1) you are a crackhead (2) you enjoy indoor smoking (3) hair, you have a hair fetish (4) you enjoy feeling dirtier after showering. I'm not sure you must meet all of these criteria or just one. However, would recommend finding an alternate place to stay.
Staff are friendly. Room was clean but bathroom had hair in the tub. Breakfast was next door in the attached restaurant. Coupon given at reception for free breakfast but the choices were very limited and the service was slow. I would stay elsewhere.
First off checked into the room went to wash my hands sink was plugged I unplugged it or it would have overflowed then I went to sit down to take a crap but there was already one in there I flushed it and sprayed it down with clorox then I look in the tub it was filthy went down to the front desk ask them it someone checked behind the cleaners I call bs they got paid for cleaning I cleaned it they said they would make a note another bs you never get a second chance to make a first impressions and you guys failed miserably somebody pulled a true life jack reacher and the front end people could care less what kinda of business is this you tell one person about a good experience they will tell ten but then tell one about a bad experience that will spread like fire better get the hose out im spreading the love good luck enjoy
Traveled for work. Met low/moderate expectations. The whole place smelled, even the elevator, but fortunately the room was okay. Nice even. Management clearly prioritized the rooms over the halls, stairs, elevator, and lobby. I appreciate that. But all those other places were dingy, dirty, and yes, smelly. Breakfast is sit-down, which is nice, but plan an hour. There is no "grab and go" or continental option. That was bad for me but could work well for a different type of trip.
I usually come to this hotel in July to drop my kids at camp. 5th time I'm here. It will be the last. Hotel is really tired, room is smelly, humid. Shower water doesn't drain well. Staff is not friendly (although trying to do their job). Fitness Center, which was probably equipped in the 90s, had the air conditioning broken. So 84 degrees. Maintenance guy came and brought two fans (he was very thoughtful and kind). Unless they go through renovations, you only stay there is it's either dirty cheap (under $80) or no other place available.
We have stayed at Best Westerns in many different locations and different states and are usually happy with the accommodations, however, this place was not clean. The decor and room itself was "worn". The bathroom floor had build-up in all the corners and the tub/shower needed to be scrubbed. There was a used straw under one bed and a hair on one of the pillows. The pillows aren't even full standard size- they are the size of a throw pillow. The mattress was comfortable.
En route to home we had to pull in to stay due to treacherous roads! We had 2 young children so the pool was a must! Staff was amazing! Restaurant opened an hour early to feed our family! Darlene, from the front desk, was our waitress as the staff was having a hard time making it to work due to the roads! She ROCKED it! She went above an beyond! The following morning the breakfast staff was just as amazing! I would have given them a 5/5 but the smoke filled hallways permeated into our room even though we were a non smoking room! Once we placed a towel in front of door it was better! What could have been sad for the kids was another fun adventure! We felt safe even after reading it housed many homeless population! Overall 5/5 but smoky made it 4/5!
Don't listen to Nat Sayers because this facility may be older but it is very clean and comfortable! The only down side would be the price for a one night stay, but it was worth every penny because of cleanliness and sleeping comfortable!
First, the staff is extremely nice and accommodating, but this hotel is very dirty. The carpets in the hall and rooms are in desperate need of a vacuuming, there was hair and dirt on the beds, substances on the walls, and so much dirt on the pipes in the bathroom that they look fuzzy. The hallways smelled of cigarettes and marijuana.
Hotel was atleast 90 inside no air , only in the rooms Elevator and halls were dirty. People were drinking outside and then you could hear them walking the halls intoxicated. Doors to outside were not locked so open to anyone walking in for the price I expected alot more.
Buyer beware that the Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel is disgusting and dangerous! The room was straight out of the 70s, had blood on the ceiling, excrement on the back of the bathroom door and my kids found toenail clippings in their bed. The environment is unsafe with individuals shooting up behind the building, homeless people living out of their cars in the back parking lot and walking the halls. There is a constant smell of marijuana and cigarette smoke in the hall. This hotel NEEDs to advertise that is also serves as a homeless shelter before charging $540 for two nights.
Very clean and quiet hotel just off Interstate 95. Big room, comfortable king bed. Complimentary breakfast was served in the attached restaurant, table service not buffet. Very pleasant staff and waitresses made it a great overnight stay.
Last time we went to Maine, we stayed at the Best Western in Augusta, but this time we tried Waterville which is about 20 miles further north. Both motels seems to be about the same: same prices, same reviews. And I agree. This place had a restaurant (Irish pub) attached that we never went to. There didn't seem to be other patrons either that evening. In the morning there were lots of folks around. Not sure if they were going to the pub or not. Room was nice, roomy, clean, etc. Water pressure a bit iffy, plenty of hot water. Mattress fine, as were the towels. No breakfast served, but they issued vouchers for the pub, but we wanted to get going. My only ‘complaint' is that when I went in to register, there was a sign on the door that stated (in other words, though) if you are sick, stay away or wear a mask. I put on a mask even though I felt fine, but the young woman behind the counter was obviously quite sick (sneezing, coughing, thick voice) and was not wearing a mask. I asked her if she was okay and got a half assed glare. It could have been hay fever, but she should have had on a mask for our comfort. She also really needed to wash her hair. The young man at checkout seemed healthy. Much bigger than it looked from the entry. We were put in a handicapped room; didn't ask for it so it was probably the last available. Everything fine, except no counter on sink and those annoying ‘roll in' showers. Normally I would think, yeah, shower for two, but they just leak water under the curtain and all over the place so you end up with a dam made of towels to keep the water to one side.
We stated at this Best Western for our grandson's college graduation. The motel was fine but expensive, i assume because it was a very busy weekend. The location in Waterville was fine near shopping, downtown area and Colby College.
I found a caring and courteous Staff, a clean and well-appointed Room, attention to my special-needs request (room assignment to accommodate my disabilities), and a surprisingly courtesy Full Breakfast. I felt exceptionally Valued as a Customer, which enhanced my visit and Stay at Best Western Plue. I will recommend others experience the same.
My wife and I were very pleased with our stay last night here. The staff was great and the room was very clean. Everything in the room worked fine and it was very quiet. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Thanks for a nice stay
This is a large hotel with only one suite ( according to the hotel clerk. Only one elevator with long hallways…grubby carpeting. The rooms are decent but this hotel is quite tired and could certainly use some updating. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was serviced at O'Briens which is next to the lobby.
The Hotel had burn holes in the bed coverings, broken coffee pot , dirty windows and elevatore, ceiling damage in the bathroom. the toilet ran excessively , asked to switch rooms and the only improvement was the cieling wasn't damaged in the bathroom. The Hallway smelled of smoke when walking through to the lobby. The staff was non-apologetic. Very disappointed
I've stayed here several times over several years. Convenient, breakfast very good, Starbucks across the street. I always stay at Best Westerns because they're the only hotel chain that seem to use nontoxic cleaning products.
The staff were extremely nice and our hotel room was very clean. We were very satisfied with our stay. The restaurant also was great. We always stay here when we come up to Maine. We have never had a bad experience here yet.
This hotel has great staff but the physical building is not clean, or well lit. Carpets are dirty and smell. The entire building needs a renovation top to bottom. The location was very good, but there are others nearby. I never usually write reviews but this was hands down the worst, outdated "hotel" I have stayed in. I hope I can save someone the experience and OVER pricing.
More than 10 years ago i did walk on the US ground for the first time and this was the first hotel i/we have stayed in and for some reason i am happy with the place and people/service… From what I know and expect Best Western has and gives us everything a person/people needs …
I really should have remembered from the last time we stayed here, but I may have blocked it out of my mind. The hallways smelled of cigarette smoke, strange people were sitting outside the back door. The bathtub was tiny and there were burn marks in the coverlet on the bed. In the middle of the night I woke up to hear the mini fridge making a loud noise that only stopped when I shook it. The first time we stayed here the carpet was soaked under the window.
Just checked in to come watch my sons football game. Carpet in the hallways old and stained. Room has stains on curtains , walls , carpet and wallpaper is falling down. Phone is dirty and old. Don't both not nice at all.
The staff in this hotel were friendly and helpful. The guest room was very clean, updated, and very comfortable. This is in stark contrast to the condition of the hallways which were dirty and gave a bad impression. If you can look past the hallways, you'll be happy with the room. And the complimentary breakfast was excellent - restaurant style or to go if you prefer. A nice perq.
This hotel is trashed. It needs so many reservations, I can't believe they can call themselves a 3 star lodge. The hot tub was ‘broken' and the pool had dirt all through it. Bathroom door was broken and there was noticeable water damage throughout the room. I was especially surprised at the lack of security. Anyone off the street could come and go through the entirety of the place. A total waste of money.
We arrived late and were checked in by Jenna who went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a non-smoking room. While the corridor was looking a little faded, our room was clean and comfortable. The house-keeping staff have been doing a stellar job at keeping this hotel pleasant while also providing a valuable service to the Waterville's vulnerably housed community. Our bedding was immaculate, the bathroom was very clean, and we were very happy with our stay.
The room smells. There were dog poop stains on the carpet, an AirPod case, coins, and popcorn from the last guest. The shower didn't drain fully. The toilet paper roll had a brown stain on it. The bedding is ripped with holes and stains. The curtains are sticky and gross and don't close fully. The room smells. The bathroom floor is dirty. My husband slept on top of the bedding it was so gross.
I made reservations to stay here from 6/17/21 to 6/20/21. I called on my way to the hotel to confirm my room. The front desk stated that I had a smoking room. I said to her no I did not. I would never book a smoking room because I have allergies. She was rude and said well that's all they had and to bad. I tried to find another hotel but every place was booked. They told me that all their standard rooms were smoking. I have stayed at Best Western for over 20 years and that is not the case at all. So when I checked in they would not change my room. They charged me another 114.00 to move me to a non smoking room, which was so nasty. If I had my car there I would of slept in that instead, but there were about 8 people and a few dogs tied up and a bunch of 5 gallon pales filled with stuff. It was so nasty and unsafe. My mother went in Sunday to talk to the manager and ask for the 114.00 but they were rude and said to bad. About 6 months ago they had bed bugs there and let people with Covid stay there. I have been in touch with BW head quarters. DO NOT SYAY THERE
Traveling for work and business and leisure. The hotel is vey dirty and with extreme unpleasant odor . Amenities are very outdated . The staff are rude snd unwelcoming . They are not happy to help out .
The stench of cigarette smoke and marijuana was almost sickening. Room was disgusting with cigarette burn marks on the bedding, stains on the bedding and the furniture very used and worn. Staff was not pleasant to deal with. Hotel guests smoking in front of entrance, loud blasting music coming from downstairs room. Windows propped open with beer bottles. Honestly didn't feel safe staying there and felt like the room was not clean or tidy especially during a pandemic! I'd rather sleep in my car than try and stay here again. We actually checked out 2 hours after checking in due to the conditions. Zero stars!!!
I was looking for an economical hotel in the Waterville area, the Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel checked that box. What I wasn't expecting were the included amenities like free Internet, and a complimentary made-to-order breakfast. Very nice experience and a great value.
This hotel looks fine at the entrance-it all ends there. Smoking (of all types) occur in the rooms and huddles of people are constantly standing in front of the rear entrances smoking. We found drug paraphernalia in our room and asked to check out after that. I think some people are living at this hotel as families were constantly in the halls with their pajamas on and hollering and swearing at their kids. Kids were in the parking lot riding their bikes and there was the most dog poop on the back “lawn” that I have ever seen in one place. This hotel is disgusting.
I would like to say thank you to everybody at the best Western grand Hotel Waterville Maine they service you with a smile their corona safe the hospitality is awesome the meals they cook for you if you have breakfast in the morning it is free and it is a cook breakfast the way you like swimming pool is clean plenty of parking what is it just a beautiful place to come to I would not go anywhere else but to the best western I would like to say thank you to everybody that is employed and does work here and I would like to especially say thank you to everybody in the kitchen I would like to say thank you to Steve the maître d' who checked me in at 2o'clock in the morningI would like to say thank you to all the women especially management they are the bomb thank you very much sincerely yours James Cataldo QCD this is my room showed you how clean it is the bed is a little messy because I just got up going to take a shower and I am about to leave and I will return on Thursday
I see these reviews of this Hotel, and I wonder if I stayed in the same Hotel? The Staff were very friendly, but the place is not a 3 star hotel. Not by a long shot. Considering a new Hampton Inn is a 2.5 Star. I stayed on Friday night with my Wife. There were crowds of kids, smoking in the entrances, there was the smell of weed throughout the hallways, with shady characters yelling in the hallways, of course, no masks. Broken exit sign hanging, with trash piled outside of the doors of rooms, the exit glass doors were filthy, with finger prints, and apparently haven't been cleaned in awhile. ( My Wife had Pandemic ebee jeebys), as we pushed them open with our covered arms. The room was like that of an older Hotel, the bed was hard like a rock, with small pillows. The comforter on the bed had coffee stains, and looked like it had not been washed... and you can smell the Cigarette smoke. This seems to be where the locals comes to party. I remember those days in my youth, but I don't want to relive them in my 60's. It rained very hard, that night and there were deep puddles you had to walk around to get to your car. The parking lot needs to be repaved. We decided not to stay for breakfast, just grabbed a coffee for the road, but the Pub did look nice, with friendly staff. Unfortunately, will not be staying here again. The pictures are very deceptive. Unless you enjoy People yelling, running up and down the hall half the night, the smell of weed permeating the halls, I would look everywhere.
1. One of the first rooms we were given smelled so badly like smoke it was making my children sick. The only reason we were able to change rooms was because there was a substantial leak coming down from the bathing ceiling. Smoking is not allowed in any Maine establishments. You should really try to enforce this. up and down your halls all you can smell is cigarette and marjuana smoke. Again, it was making some of the children very sick. 2. Once allowed in the pool( after a 5 hour wait) the children were quick to get out because there was a strange man with his DOG in the gym area watching them. It was making them feel very uncomfortable, so they got out. 3. I did see that your hotel was a pet friendly hotel, but you need to have some boundaries when going to your lounge area. There were dogs being walked in the hallway that were extremely aggressive. What if they got loose? What if a child went towards them? What if the owner let go of them? You could also hear them barking form a better part of the evening. 4. I came to find out that there are many homeless people staying at your hotel. While I understand that people need a place to stay, and you need to stay in business I think you need to find a way to let your guests know your hotel is used as an overflow or what the case may be. The people that you have wandering up and down your hotel was very unsettling. Going out to my car there were a couple of people with again very aggressive dogs by your dumpster acting in a very suspicious manner. This does not make anyone feel very safe.
Reeks like cigarettes, used soap in shower, rude bartender with no menus, rude pool attendants, random phone calls at 3 330 4 415 no answer. Housekeeping wakes you up at 9 for a 1 night stay?? So not fair ! We deserve to sleep in !
Room was awful noise with disgusting cop busting people who couldn't sleep for hours and it sucked we didn't complain because we didn't want to be a bother cuz we figured we wouldn't get anything or any thing for a problem
We requested adjoining rooms a month before we checked in and we still didn't receive it. They told us they could submit the request and thats all they could do. We understand that however we crossed paths with the people in the adjoining room and the said they never had a reservation and simply checked in that day. Not to mention that during this time of a "pandemic" you would think they would space people out more. Our wing was completely full while other sections were empty or close to it. We are extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with Best Western.
I thought I was one of the best hotels I stay at is convenient it is close to all your accessories coffee shop shopping centers shopping malls haircutting restaurants entertainment access to the highway on and off I am very thankful and grateful for staying there and I will continue staying at the best Western in Waterville Main the people are very polite and always smiling and they always take care of your problems if you have any I have never ever experienced any yet thank you sincerely yours James Cataldo
Bad customer service, I had a concern at check in and voiced my concern and no one followed up. Also one of the bed comforters had a spot on it. At the restaurant for the complementary breakfast the staff was not very friendly.
A very nice, clean hotel near many shops and restaurants. Friendly staff. The best included breakfast ever even with Covid protocols. For us the most appreciated amenity was that they have smoking rooms.
Nice staff. Good Amenities. Would recommend as a place to stay. Plenty of tractor trailer parking. I have nothing else but need to fill the required number of characters so thanks for reading this review.
all staff was pleasant and catered to our needs or questions. the rooms were maintained and the breakfast offered in the restaurant was very acceptable. the front desk offered masks if needed and access to computers was easily accessible.
Was an amazing experience here and can't wait to go back this winter! Everyone there was polite and there when needed them! The pool was very nice and clean, hope the gym is Livermore kept up but other then that was really great time here!
Perfect location! If you are visiting Colby College or the Waterville area. Freshly updated room, new bathroom, granite sinks, new refridge, Brand new bed and bedding. Very quite and comfortable. I will stay here every time i am in the area and you can not beat the price!
My two kids and I booked a room for two nights. First room they put us in was filthy. Second room had a huge brown stain on the comforter! The hallway to the room reeked of pot and cigarettes. People were fighting and loud. Turns out they are housing people from the local homeless shelter. Don't stay here. Felt unsafe, unsanitary and just GROSS. And the staff didn't care and pretty much told us to leave if we didn't like it. I feel like I might need a covid test from walking in the building. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn! Very nice service and CLEAN! I called Best Western Corporate and they were no help. Awful experience.
this room was 120 bucks....not even a phone in our room....no directory to say when anything was open or not. was a bare bones, no nothing room....would expect more even from a 59.95 room. should have stayed elsewhere.
Very pleasant welcome. The staff was always friendly and kind. The room was spotless and comfortable bed. I like the pillows and bedsheet which are very clean and nothing smell, shower room was spacious. I like The location is near restaurants and across is Walmart. I have been to a lot of hotels in New England and this Best Western Plus Waterville is highly recommended.
We make an annual snowmobile trip to Shin Pond Village outside of Patten, Maine from Pottstown, PA. We typically stay over half way in Augusta, but this year the hotel was full and recommended we go further to Waterville. Not familiar I asked for a recommendation that could park 3 trucks and trailers. They recommended Best Western at Rt 95N exit 130. When I called to reserve they were friendly and helpful to all our needs. Rooms were clean, updated, comfortable beds AND the back parking lot was terrific for our needs. The restaurant and bar was relaxing with good food and drinks as well as an included breakfast in the morning. We definitely will be driving a little farther into Maine for our, part way overnight stay, on future snowmobile trips to Shin Pond.
Sent a crew of workers for a month's stay. They saw on news this hotel was keeping 14 college students quarantine returning from China due to Carona Virus scare and DID NOT FEEL IT NECESSARY to let us know. I am FURIOUS! Manager, Brian never reassured or apologized to our crew (even after I demanded he do so). Corporate office in AZ never returned my calls. WILL NEVER USE BEST WESTERN AGAIN nor do I recommend.
I reserved two rooms for my family of six and requested adjoining rooms. I know that special requests are not guaranteed, but my special request was never noted on the hotel's reservation, so the rooms were not available. The person at the front desk just shrugged and said, "Sometimes that happens." I booked through the Best Western website, and when I pointed out that is was a pretty big issue that their own website wasn't transferring information correctly, she told me there was nothing they could do about it. I even showed her a copy of my reservation where my request was clearly noted. I was then informed that two people per room could get a free breakfast. I made reservations for three people per room and the amenities listed included "free breakfast". I was expecting that everyone in our party would get a free breakfast. I was told that since they do not have a continental breakfast, but instead provide breakfast in the attached restaurant, they limit the number of free breakfasts to two per room. If this is the case, this should be stated somewhere. When in our room, I turned on the water to wash my hands and the water came out brown. We ran it for a couple minutes and still got spurts of brown/yellow. According to the front desk, the cause was a flush of the town water system. After running the water in both rooms for 3-5 more minutes, it ran clear the rest of the stay. It does, however, make me wonder how clean the room could possibly be if the water was not run before our stay. The pool at the hotel is large and the children really enjoyed it. There are not towels provide, however, so if you decided to stay, you may want to bring your own.
we had planned on staying at the best western for 2 nights except on our second night we found out by one of the workers that the third floor was being used as a quarantine of coronavirus for students who have just returned from china. why they would hold this in a hotel is beyond me, but what was the worst part about this is that we were not told this before checking in. I was traveling with my 6 month old baby and they never felt it was necessary to let us know what was happening in this facility. we were assured that they were in "isolation" yet the worker who told me also mentioned they were bringing room service up to them, then serving us food?? completely terrible business practice and idiotic practices such as this are the reason these virus's spread. even if they say they are showing no symptoms it should still be up to the guest whether or not they are staying. never staying at a best western again after this experience. we were told we would be refunded for the both nights, then they never refunded the full amount. someone also charged 44+ dollars in room service to our room, our phone did not work, sink did not drain, dirt in coffee station and drawers.
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at The Best Western. It was my first time with Best Western and the all the staff went out of their way to help with any of my need. The cleaning staff did an awesome job as well!!!
I've stayed at this hotel no less than 10 times in the past 3 years. It is the only hotel I would stay in for the Waterville area. This hotel in Waterville outshines any hotel in the area. Their rooms are well situated, bathrooms have space to move around, they are clean , comfortable, and fairly updated - well kept overall. They have an exercise room and a heated pool and spa (all indoors) and all are well-maintained and very enjoyable to relax at. Their restaurant is tops for breakfast! For the hotel price that includes breakfast, you get a full meal with coffee juice, fresh from the kitchen (no cheap buffet here!). On one occasion when three of us stayed for a week, Best Western was so full on one Wednesday night that they could not fit us. We booked all other nights. They watched for a room cancellation, but nothing became available. We had to go to another hotel nearby that was more expensive and not as nice. We were glad to get back over to BW for the remainder of our trip.
This hotel was very nice. We would stay again if we get the chance. It was very clean and had modern updates. The beds were very comfortable. The staff when we got there was very pleasant and helpful.
Very nice staff and facilities. The restaurant is great. Breakfast is great and dinner specials are special. I enjoy the pool and spa too. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are roomie! Easy on & off the Highway. Shopping near by. Was close were I was working. I will stay again when up here soon.
Clean rooms. We had a small dog with us...no problem. Had lots of fun at the bar in the evenings, the bar tenders were a blast! Convenient location near highway. Easy off and on. Breakfast was by menu in the morning and was included in our room rate.
The Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel is our GO TO hotel whenever we are in Waterville or the surrounding area. We have stayed there for over 10 years and Darleen and her staff are the best anyone can ask for. Great staff, a full restaurant and bar, you almost never need to leave the hotel (except for the fun things to do in Maine!). Don't waste your $$$ on the fancy new hotels, just call Darleen and she will fix you up with a great room at a great price!
We had requested a mobility challenged bathroom as husband has a prosthesis. Bathroom was clean, stocked with lots of towels, etc. Bed was very comfortable. Nice computer desk and chair. Comfy armchair in which to watch TV. Restaurant was good also.
Our room was gross...stains all over the sheets...bathroom was disgusting. Toilet paper roll was empty.... tissue box was empty. Hair on counter. Tub had soap scum all over tub.. definetly got what i paid for. Very out dated as well. Loved that they were pet friendly that is really it. We wont be back.
Our room had a hole in the wall letting the cold air in and the smoking area was right outside our window. When asked if we could change rooms the staff were very rude about it. They eventually let us swap but it was quite a hassle
We had traveled all day and needed a good rest for our next day of travel. That did not happen because we were put in an outside room and highway noise went on all night. When we commented on check out we were told we should have asked for an interior room. We were not given that option at check in.
My stay at the Best Western was absolutely horrifying. We were visiting my sister who attends Thomas College, The Best Western is a Thomas College sponsored hotel. If you are visiting someone that goes to Thomas College you are supposed to get a discount on your room. We booked through the Best Western website and not through a discounted hotel site. Upon checking in we informed the front desk woman about how we were party of Thomas College, She laughed and said "oh wow if you called ahead you could of saved at least 30 dollars". This wasn't that big of a deal but we found it rude of her to tell us how much we could've saved if we booked via telephone. We also were told that it was a complimentary breakfast for two was included in the booking of the room. It ended up being $14 dollars credit towards a breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. This was also just the beginning, When we arrived at our room we were overwhelmed with the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the hallway. We attempted to open the door to our room, It was jammed, We went to the front desk and told them the door wasn't opening. They told us to just try it again. It was still jammed. We finally gained access to the room only to be bombarded by the smell of cigarette smoke. We had been placed in a smoking room even though none of us smoke indoors, When we asked to be switched, they blamed it on us and said we booked a smoking room. They switched our rooms but not without a fight. The new room appeared to be decently clean at first. We purchased cookies as a snack for us later in the evening. We left them on the counter and by the time we arrived back at the hotel, they were swarmed with ants. We also found a pill lodged underneath the bed. We decided to check out the hotel bar. We found mice running around the booths in the restaurant portion. The staff working the bar and the dance party were extremely friendly. One of our guests got violently ill after accidentally ingesting pool water. It was not an enjoyable hotel experience and next time we visit Waterville ME we will be using the Holiday Inn as our hotel.
Enjoyed the stay here. Clean spacious room, reasonable rate. Hotel has dining within and multiple restaurants within walking or driving distance.. Additionally, having a Walmart located across the street was ideal for purchasing those few items I forgot at home..
We stayed here for a single night over Columbus Day weekend. It was a nice, clean room, simple but just what you would expect. The double beds seemed a little smaller than I'm used to, but other than that, it was a good experience. Staff was friendly, and the restaurant on site served a good full breakfast. I would stay here again if in the area.
The hotel was the average price I assume for the summer season. Is pet-friendly so that's a plus. There is a restaurant near the lobby that served a variety of dishes, which we thought were large portions (thank you hotel fridge) and pretty tasty. Service was very good. The staff was courteous - especially when we had to call them to get CLEAN SHEETS for our bed! As always, we pull back the covers - and found linens covered with CRUMBS! SERIOUSLY? The staff was apologetic and concurred when comments were made about the neighborhood. Don't forget to lock your car!
The staff are always very helpful, everyone is nice and wears a smile when they greet you. Whenever we need extra pillows or anything really they are happy to accommodate. We have stayed a lot and love it would not stay anywhere else in Waterville. Love that they have room service and the bar/restaurant is relaxing, Anita rocks! Management is great! And Lisa H provides great maid service. No complaints, def recommend staying here.
Good value with clean room and comfortable beds, helpful staff and good price. This is a honest administration and a great hotel. Have been there for many many years, and they keep making my experience better.
The room and property is clean and well maintained. We got in late so did not even look at the pool or gym. We ate at the restaurant inside the hotel for dinner and it too was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast of bacon and eggs, served in the same restaurant and cooked to order, was excellent. There is also an option for oatmeal or cereal. I recommend this hotel.
This hotel has been renovated but our room had a broken window frame, not a problem in the Summer but it could be draughty in the winter. The room was fine but the corridors were long and bleak . We ate dinner in the restaurant and that was fine, the service was excellent but one person was waiting on and serving on the bar, it was a good thing that she was efficient and very cheerful. The whole place struck me as being outdated.
We stayed here for 1 night. Ravi checked us in with efficiency. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved the breakfast You receive a voucher and can order off the menu. If it's more you pay the extra. Ours was even. Coffee was excellent and having a fresh hot breakfast was wonderful. Thanks
We requested a smoke free room however we got to the hotel late at 1 in the morning and they had no smoke free rooms left so we had to stay in a smoking room which smelled. I had called at 10 to let them know that we ran into some issues and would not make it to the hotel until 1 and they said that would not be a problem.
We stopped for one night on our way to Maritime Provinces. Location was easy access from interstate, room was very spacious, and breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed being able to order breakfast off a menu.
Very friendly service! The hotel wasn't filthy, but it wasn't super clean either. There was visible dirt on the floor, as well as a nickel and a hair elastic. There was what appeared to be food stains on the comforter and the curtain. There was a dead spider on the wall. The heated saltwater pool and hot tub were amazing, even though the area was under construction. The breakfast was interesting. I was expecting a normal buffet style serve yourself gig, but we were told to go to the front desk to get a breakfast voucher. Then we were sent to an actual restaurant (inside hotel) where we were seated and served. The voucher gave us three choices of complete meals with juice and coffee. We could have ordered more from a larger menu, but of course, that would have gone beyond the voucher. The voucher did not cover gratuity, of course. The voucher only had two options: 1 meal or 2, and the staff circled the 2. So I'm not sure what would happen if we were a party of four in one room? Would we still get only 2 meals? The voucher had no "4" option. Maybe they have a different form for bigger parties, but that seems doubtful. Overall a good experience, but it wasn't as great as I'd hoped for $132 per night.
Check in is not computerized, it's a Rolodex! We had hair all over the bathroom floor when we got there. It was very dirty and dated. Also, we only had 2 towels for 3 guests. We called for more towels and no one came for an hour. We had to call back to get them!
this best western is a very good place to stay and is very convienent to alot of the areas stuff andit also has restuaraunt and a bar a swimming pool this is where we generally stay when we travel to our job when we go to work in this area
Each time I have stayed her everyone is super nice. Especially Lisa H. when it comes to maid service. She will make sure anything you need in your room (within reason:) is done and she def CLEANS your room and bathroom and to me that matters. The front desk is super nice. Everyone in room service/lounge, Anita is awesome :) For Waterville Maine, this location is the best!
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. If they misunderstood my request, they apologized and fixed it. The breakfast voucher was nice and was useful at breakfast. The breakfast prices were reasonable and the food was good.
Room was above normal, was King size bed. Nicely kept, Brunch could have been better. Parking lot was broken up black top. Only 1 elevator on each floor, otherwise had stairs to use. Elevator was at one end of the hallway, we were at the complete other end. Due to disabilities would have liked a closer location, was not asked if any special needs if had would have asked for 1st floor or near elevator.
They have kept up the maintenance of this place. It's clean and comfortable. And it's very conveniently located. It's also nice that there is a restaurant in the building - breakfast is included and supper was really good.
We had stayed here the previous year and were impressed with the overall experience. On both occasions the reception desk were very courteous and helpful. The room had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel has a nice lounge and the staff were very helpful .The restaurant was adjacent to the lounge and was where we had breakfast .You several menu items to choose from and it prepared and delivered to your table. Great overall stay.
Easy access from highway. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean room as well as the whole property. It is located close to many restaurants as well as shopping centers. Will definitely return to this Best western again when in this area.
Everything about this place was fantastic, from the friendly staff, excellent breakfast, quality of the room and the grounds it self. They have a nice area out front to sit and relax and it's very quiet and peaceful.
This hotel is great. Though the prices are average, we found the room incredibly quiet. We were on the first floor which overlooked a tiny picnic area. People were having a barbecue and kids were playing in the late afternoon but by 6pm it was quiet. The rooms were clean and bed great. Breakfast was good, too. We were just driving through though I wish I had more time to spend in the Augusta/Waterville area.
The location of this hotel was absolutely convenient, just off the interstate. The staff was welcoming, and the room was fine. O'Brien's Restaurant, on premises, illuminated any need to go out of the hotel for food, and it made this more of a location for parties and gatherings. A wedding party was being held while we were there. The indoor pool added to the nice stay. The courtyard was a nice touch, too. One comment about the free breakfast: it isn't entirely free, although the voucher covered our breakfast. (Our server, Harlie, was attentive to us. Thank you!) However, the food was cooked to order and was tastier than the standard precooked free breakfasts. We'd consider staying here again.
Stayed here when we went down for a family event. All I have to say is gross. The carpet wasn't vacuumed well, the bed sheet had brown stains on them, if you wash with bleach those should be there. The curtains in the room was stained like someone spilled coffee on the. The bathroom shower curtain had mold on the bottoms of it and the tub looked dirty. The ceiling I. The bathroom had been painted and was falling off. Lots of cover up in the room dirty will not stay here again. We stay at many hotels and never have had anything this disgusting. We went and bought our own pillows and sheet it was gross. Will never stay here again.
We were looking forward to our stay at this Best Western, as the high price implied a commensurate level of quality. The experience turned out to be second rate at best: the hotel was badly in need of maintenance (security doors that did not lock, walls & doors needing a paint job, bathroom doorknob hanging loosely on the door, etc.). The dark and dingy lobby was totally unwelcoming. The bath towels were stiff and scratchy. At least the room was clean and the location convenient. Again, we expected more for the premium price we were charged.
On arrival, the desk personnel were pleasant and helpful. They informed me of a feature that the GIRI Group of hotels offers. Thei s called the Giri Honors Cash Back program. This may be used at all 5 locations in the Giri Hotels. The room was large and very clean. The bed was comfy! The indoor pool was warm and the hot in working order. I recommend this location and will be returning.
Our family of four stayed stayed at the Best Western Waterville Grand Hotel this weekend. What a great stay! The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful! Love the comfy beds and the larger refrigerator size. Comes in handy with a family. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good! It's nice they provide vouchers for two people. And the location is very convenient! Easy to get to everything. We will stay again for sure!
Uncomfortable beds, pillows lumpy.. noise was insane screaming at 1 am outside my door.. hot tub down pool packed with kids everywhere, breakfast was good would not be my first choice in future. One person at counter and did not want to overwhelm them as she was busy on phone
Room was clean. Bathroom was clean. Housekeepers were Smiling and laughing. They helped with everything I needed. Bed was comfy. Coffee was gross. But Dunkin Donuts is right down the road. Walmart across the street. Pool needs some new paint and the hot tub was cold.
Stopped in before noon to secure a room before shopping & was surprised one was ready. Have stayed here before & was not surprised by the cleanliness & friendly staff. The room was great & we slept like babies in the comfy bed. Lots of green space for our little dog to run around. The breakfast is made to order & was very good.
Whole chain needs to improve its quality control. Going down hill. Mould evident in bathrooms, no vegetarian options in the restaurants. One room we we given had water on the bathroom floor from a ceiling leak from room or pipe above. Time to change awards programs.
Nice friendly atmosphere. Easy to get on and off highway. Breakfast was excellent. Have been here several times and plan on coming back. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Showers have plenty of water pressure
The hotel was very accommodating to all of our family's needs when planning a graduation party. The reception area was great the food was amazing and the staff was all very helpful and attentive. The hotel rooms were very clean
I must say worst motel stay ever. They refused to comp the room. The front desk clerk asked, "are you making things up as you go along!" I am a frequent user of accommodations. There was a hair in my bed to start the night off, i informed the front desk. The morning front desk person said she knew nothing about that. Then dogs barked, then the fire alarm went off forever, then got back to sleep and the fire alarm went off a second time. Then laid back down to sleep and the dogs started back up because housekeeping was screaming and knocking on every door without a do not disturb sign, not that it matters because you're awake. I got up before she got to our door to see what was going on in hall. I have posted my sleep that i got last night, my watch tracks my sleep. This is the motel of NO sleep. The front desk clerk asking me if i was making stuff up when their was a line of people complaining, that put the frosting on the cake. I actually was beginning to think i was on candid camera.
Extremely clean and convenient hotel with an excellent staff. The location is ideal, right off of the highway, and close to downtown Waterville and Colby College. The value is very good, with a super breakfast included!
Very nice hotel- clean and comfortable. The breakfast food and service were excellent. We let the server know that we had a time commitment and she made sure that our food came out quickly and it was delicious. My daughter said that it was the best hotel breakfast that she had ever had! Hint- get the home fries!
This stay was perfect for what we needed it for .I wish they offered a king suite with sofa bed or queen beds. We stayed a few weeks after day light savings and the clocks we're not changed in the rooms which caused some chaos for the team we travelled with and a few we're late for our tournament in the morning.
This is the best place to stay when in the Waterville, ME area. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating to our needs. The price is right too! Highly recommended!
We stay here every year for a four-wheeling event and the staff is extremely accommodating from reservation booking to check out. The on-site pub is a great spot to meet friends, the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and I love the soaps (they smell amazing). This year was the first time we realized there was a courtyard which makes every room very accessible no matter where you park. We also checked out the pool and fitness area, which, for the price of the room you cannot beat! We look forward to our visit every year!
A nice place to stay and very accommodating for the Maine Winter Romp (Land Rover event). Clean rooms. Spacious king sized bed room. Staff is great. My only negative is having to walk through the smoking room hallway.
Most of the participants in a Land Rover get-together stay here each President's day weekend. I enjoyed our room, and the hotel bar was a great gathering spot. I look forward to making it back next year.
We spend a few days every February. Consistent quality and friendly staff. Clean rooms, Wifi, cable, and very comfortable. The restaurant and bar is good too with breakfast included for guests. There is a clean heated pool and gym.
We had a large function and the staff bent over backward for us. They were very accommodating and made our stay very pleasant. Check in and out was a breeze. The room was clean and updated. Breakfast included.
This hotel had to put up a lot come Winter Romp weekend. This is the weekend following valentines day where they get flooded by over 100 dirty rover people every year. The staff is always wonderful and perfectly accommodating, no matter how many times we ask for a new room key. They also clean up after all the shenanigans we get up too. This year we even had a costume contest and one of the ladies at the front desk dressed up which was awesome. We will be back for many years to come and hope they continue to host us. Also a huge thank you and shout out to the cleaning crew that not only moved my personal bags to another room, upon request, but also placed the beer we had in the fridge in the adjacent fridge so as to keep it cold. Will be seeing you soon, -Key Vollers
clean room and comfortable bed. Excellent staff was always pleasant abs happy to help. Excellent parking with room for a trailer. Breakfast was good and bar was nice in the evening. Will gladly stay again
I came to Waterville for a funeral, and needed to bring my dog with me. When I arrived it was pouring rain and there were some buckets in the lobby area. The property is very old, I think about 40 years, maybe more. The outside is nothing to speak of, but my room was beautiful. Very clean and plenty of hot water for my shower. Check in and out very speedy. Nice staff and free breakfast in the restaurant. It is not a luxury property, but you get a nice stay at a good price. I would recommend it.
The only place to stay while in the Waterville area. The rooms are clean the staff is very helpful they have a nice indoor pool and exercise facilty with a hot tub, they have a in house resteraunt with a very diverse menu
Everything under one roof didn't have to go anywhere for a drink or a bite to eat, room was clean, restaurant was nice with a good food menu breakfast was free and there were other choices you paid for if you wanted too.
We stayed at the Best Western in Waterville in September 2018 for our honeymoon. From the time we checked into the hotel, we knew we picked the right place. Becky at the front desk was a pleasure to deal with. She was very helpful and informative about the different places to visit in the area. The bar and restaurant were very nice. We would stay here again.
Clean spacious room, with nice amenities. Furnishings were new and nice. Easy on and off 95. There was a decent restaurant in the motel and plenty of options nearby.. I need 200 characters hopefully this meets this requirement.
You really don't need that many words to let you know that the place was good close to the parkway goes to places to go eat so I will stay there again and recommended to different people that are going up that way
This was an old Holiday Inn from years gone by. Best Western has now put their stamp on it. One elevator at the back of the property. Good parking. Indoor pool/hot tub/exercise area is great any time of year. Restaurant is attached and you get a voucher for breakfast. The voucher is for $10.00 so if it costs more, they take the 10 off. Ask about “wing night”. All you can eat at a great price.
The Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel is older but we had a good experience. Our room was neat, clean, and everything worked. There were also a surprising number of traveler-friendly additions, such as plentiful USB power sources, capable Wi-Fi, and bathroom conveniences. The bed mattress was comfortable and the room was quiet. The Hotel also has an adjoining restaurant with good food and service, including a nice way of handling the complimentary breakfast, with variety. The hotel staff were very helpful and handled requests quickly.
Stayed 2 nights for business travel. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping does a fine job with keeping the rooms clean. Staff is agreeable. I would find a way to have a door adjacent/closer to checkout desk, so that guests can speak directly to staff; feedback, compliments etc - how do they inquire about your stay, if the door to exit, doesn't face the check in counter? I think the shower water in room 250 could be a little warmer. Restaurant in hotel is nice. Shout out to "Sarah"! Very professional and polite.
Used the Waterville location for a business meeting. Liane was helpful arranging meeting beforehand and responsive dealing with issues that came up during meeting. Thomas meeting room worked well for our group.
I was staying at the Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel from July 20 to July 27, 2018The staff was very helpful, room clean,Irish Restaurant/Bar inside Hotel served free breakfast, and open for 3 meals till late. The hotel has Fitness Room and Swimming Pool,3 computers and TV in the lobby.Convenient location, close to Shopping Center. and Colby College- host of Atlantic Music Festival ,free concerts open to the public
This Waterville Maine not Boston. I have stayed at least 50 times and when I worked at Colby college I used to book all my entertainment acts there. It used to be a Holiday Inn and has gone through a coupe of management swtages. It is still a good hotel. Close to all things you need across the street. A nice pool and hot tub and a small but adequate Health club. Aout 5 workout machines. Rooms are nice. If you are booking for Colby graduation you better call o January 1. Nice staff. Restaurant and bar on site
We stayed at the Best Western in Waterville, Maine for one night. Our bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The exterior appearance isn't great but that doesn't affect the value of this property. Breakfast was also very good.
The room was fine, but the individual air conditioning unit in the wall was noisy. The TV was big and HD. The included breakfast was rather meager – only 2 small pieces of bacon with the eggs. The lobby was hard to find - the drive up overhang just leads to a hall, and we drove around before trying again and finding the lobby.
We stopped for the night at the Best Western Plus Waterville in early September. This is a typical Best Western - perfectly acceptable overnight accommodation. I rated the location as very good as it was just off the highway, but it might not be my first choice if I were staying longer than overnight. Our king room was a nice size, it was very clean, and we were pleased to find that there was a pub and restaurant on site as we weren't overly keen to go out again after a long day of driving. The wait staff were very friendly, the meal was not bad, although quantities of food were huge and unnecessary. And I was a little disappointed to get my beer in a plastic cup when I was sitting in a decent restaurant with a nice looking bar. Our dinner was not served on paper plates(!), so not sure why our beer wasn't in a real glass. The included breakfast the next morning was very nice - with 2 or 3 hot choices, and again very pleasant service. Would stay again if travelling through.
Right off the Maine Turnpike, which you can hear from your room, this hotel doesn't have many alternatives. The staff is sincere, and hard working but need more help. The room is fine; indistinguisable from any other in this chain, but for many travelers, that's a plus. There is a restaurant/pub. A bit dreary and food more than a bit heavy. Did not look at spa facilities.
Not much to tell about this place other than it was not a great experience, we stayed here for a late night stay on the way to Virginia. We arrived quite late and the front desk clerk was very abrupt, not welcoming after a long drive. I know she was a night clerk, but come on... Anyway, we just wanted to sleep a bit and leave the next morning. The hotel overall is not very attractive and the clientele seemed seedy & rowdy. It felt old and dirty. The price quoted was outrageous for a place like this. The only positive point was the breakfast at the attached Irish pub & restaurant, the food was great and the waitress was friendly, I would return for the breakfast, but that's it. If a Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn would ever open next door, these guys would be in big trouble! Sorry.
This hotel provides shelter from the elements, but not much more than that. The infrastructure is old -- for instance, no shower mixer, but separate hot/cold valves, and caulking everywhere just trying to keep things together. The service was friendly but not always fully competent. We had a room of three and only two sets of towels. It took 3 calls and a few hours before getting our third set. The cooling in our room did not successfully cool the room, creating a restless night for all. Breakfast is served in a pleasant space. However, 'breakfast included' is very misleading- instead you are given a voucher to order off a menu, and everyone seems to comfortably goes over the voucher amount. We'll be in Waterville again and would stay here only if there truly is no other choice -- nice people, but investments needed in infrastructure and staff.
Easily the most foul smelling hotel I've stayed in over the past decade. This place is old, run down, and nasty. I would avoid it if at all possible. I'm writing this two days after my departure and my clothes still have a perfumed cigarette stench to them. On the plus side, there are many restaurants and stores nearby. When I checked out, the clerk didn't ask how my stay was. They must not even bother at this hotel anymore.
I needed a place to stay for a night as a little stop over. The price was reasonable so I decided to stay here. Overall it was a pretty good stay. Checking in was very quick and painless and the woman was friendly. It was kind of a long walk to get to the elevator to bring me up to my room, but it wasn't a big deal. The hallways and elevator weren't the cleanest but my room was very clean which is what mattered most to me. I had to run out to my car at around or after midnight and the hallway on the first floor reeked of weed and there was a little disturbance with some c words thrown around along with some pushing. I don't blame the hotel but it gave me a weird feeling. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had great pressure and temperature. The location is great because it's right next to 95, yet I couldn't hear any highway noise despite my room facing it. I would certainly stay here again as long as the rate is reasonable.
I have stayed at this location on numerous occasions and it never disappoints! Room rates are a great value for this property. Great location, friendly staff and lovely breakfast menu in the dining room! Local shopping is an added feature.
I was in the area for a college visit and booked the Best Western due to name recognition. I have noted some decline in Best Western properties over the past year or so, but this visit will ensure I will not stay again in a Best Western property that I have not recently visited. Initial reaction was the building itself was a non descript square and look very out dated. When we checked into the room I did note it to be on the smallish side. We were on the first floor with a single window and a truck had backed into the spot in front of the window so closely that I could have touched the back of it had the window opened enough. The pool area was dark and smelled horrible. (kind of like vomit) The water looked green though hard to say if it was just the lighting, but clearly did not want to take a chance. Walking through the halls I could smell cigarettes in many places. Back in the room I took off my shoes to find the carpet damp all over (It did not smell bad though and may have been recently shampooed and not yet dry) a very unpleasant feeling. (glad I brought my flip flops) The beds were OK; two full beds which with comfortable mattresses and clean looking sheets. Plenty of pillows. Television was HD and good selection of channels. I turned in at about 1030. I was awakened at about 1230 AM to the sound of loud retching outside my door. (I looked out the peephole to see about 3 adults around a woman who was retching uncontrollably. They went into the room across from mine with the woman going into the bathroom and the continued sound of loud retching. Someone asked for some "spray" and a woman came with a bottle and the man said "spray some on me" which she did and then proceeded to spray repeatedly into the bathroom until someone said "not too much it's strong, let her breathe" They finally shut the door and I went back to my bed and tossed and turned quite a bit finally drifting off. Around 2 AM I heard voices in the hallway and once again looked out the peephole to see a boy around 9 and an older woman standing outside the same room. The boy knocked I didn't hear a response, but did hear the boy say "It's your grandson, let me in" and the boy and older woman went into the room. I again tried to get to sleep but was awakened several times by dog barking (when did it become so popular to travel with dogs?) By morning I just wanted out. They did give us a voucher for breakfast which I had no intention of using due to concerns about the hygienic practices, but seeing as it was in the hotel restaurant which appeared clean we took the chance and were happily surprised the breakfast (I had eggs, bacon, homefries, toast, tea and juice and my daughter had pancakes, bacon and juice) looked and tasted delish. So there is my mixed review. Maybe I just had a bad stay, but pretty sure I would not return.
Don't believe the negative reviews. Very clean. Courteous and friendly staff at front desk and housekeepers. Had issue at check in as Priceline sold us a non smoking room and then booked a smoking room. The hotel staff very graciously fixed this and found us a nonsmoking room at same or better price. Apparently Priceline pulls this nonsense with this hotel. Breakfast is unique arrangement: you get $7 each person vouchers for the connected restaurant. Use against the regular menu, or there are there three options for the price of the voucher that are more than adequate full breakfasts. Our king bed room was spacious with easy chair, desk, good size frig with freezer compartment, and a microwave. Extremely convenient to I-95 exit. And only a couple miles from Colby Campus. Go Mules! Class of ‘75
This hotel is pretty classic, pretty comfortable. Features a wide range of rooms and pool and fitness center. Quite a bit of parking as well. It is very centrally located in Central Maine and has a lot of businesses next door to make whatever your need is that much more convenient. The breakfast is amazing. It's like a free diner, nothing like it that I've experienced before. Rooms are pretty basic but quaint. Staff is helpful and happy to help.
Again this was an amazing visit! The location is close to anything you may need. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was my third visit and this is the hotel I will use whenever I am in this area.
the location was very good and the hotel was very nice and clean. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and hotel looks like a resort close to a lot of local restaurants. I would recommend this hotel very highly .
Will be back this Friday for two days then again Sept for 4 days for my daughter wedding the rooms, and pool was excellent staff was excellent and restaurants was also excellent will let family and friends know
This hotel was disgusting. There were bugs in our room, crawling & flying ones!! They entire hotel smelled like smoke. Our room in particular was musty and did not feel clean. I do not recommend this hotel at all. I wish I could give it a zero rating.
Rooms are clean, but very small, and there is a restaurant on the premises, but a long walk from the room or elevayor. There is a decided lack of handicapped parking spaces at the 4 entrances. The only non smoking rooms are located down very long hallways making it difficult for someone with bad knees, for example, to traverse the distance. I would have liked to bring in my mobility scooter to make it easier, but there was no space for it in the room and in any case, there were no electrical outlets to plug it into. I might also mention that there was nothing to set the suitcase on except the floor. Really??
Nice place to stay if you do not care about a free hot breakfast buffet. Clean rooms and good staff. Location is great too with lot of shops around. Internet was comparatively faster and i never had bufferinv issue. Hotel even provided a free service to jump start my car
We stayed at this hotel during our recent bike trip, found and booked this hotel on TripAdvisor at the last minute and was very pleased with everything, this hotel is very clean, nicely furnished with a very comfy bed and linens, and for us being on a motorcycle trip, coin operated washing machines and clothes dryers was a absolute asset, I definitely would recommend this hotel.
Check in was friendly enough. Breakfast food in the restaurant was pretty good and included in the room rate. Hotel is also convenient to many local businesses and Colby College. Two big drawbacks from our stay were (1) the bathroom sink was clogged, and the thought of other guests' refuse coming up is just vile and (2) the waitstaff we had in the restaurant was rather unfriendly. Plus the hotel is rather rundown. Will try another hotel next trip.
Lots of space on both sides of the bathroom vanity for toiletries. "Man sized" toilet bowl. You guys who have experienced cold water immersion or the cold touch of porcelain know what that means. Large desk and comfortable chair for computer work.
Had a discount coupon and got charged more than the coupon rate. As a business traveler, I stay in the Waterville area 4 or 5 times a year...I won't stay here in the future. There are several options in the area, suggest you look elsewhere for accommodations.
The front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable and were very efficient with Check in process. The room was clean. The mattress and pillows were comfortable . We were there for 5 days at college events and were treated very well by staff at hotel.
I cannot understand how anyone that has spent a night here could give it five stars. I would have to assume some of the high reviews are suspect. The reason I'm giving it two and not a one is because the staff that I encountered were pleasant and responsive. First off read the reviews about "questionable hallway encounters". The people described here were at the front entrance for check in for our stay. The assumption was they were looking for customers of various "business ventures". They were certainly not guests. If you are concerned about safety and you don't carry a firearm this probably isn't the place for you. The doors are very old and very thin. You hear everything in hallway. (Read other reviews)There was an unidentifiable stain on one of our comforters (in other reviews as well). When I called for a new one the reception was pleasant but stated they don't have extras but sent up blankets which was nice but not having extra tells me it's one of those hotels that doesn't wash the comforters.... hence the stain of questionable nature. The breakfast situation is complicated. Unlike most major hotel chains on the planet They sort of kind of have included meals up to a certain amount. Upon checkout I heard another guest looking for items missing presumably from her room, which I cannot say I was shocked about. I'm not sure Best Western is aware this property still operates under their name but if so I should probably avoid the brand from now on.
At roughly 1450 I entered the Obriens Pub. There were three at the bar. The bartender served the two young ladys, and with out a word to me , walked away. I walked out and ate at a different restaurant. On returning, I entered the pub again, to a new bartender. Ordered a Crown and water, it was served with a lime, certain that I had not ordered a Corona, I ask her to hold the line in the future. The drink tasted so strongly of lime, I paid and left. Upon returning to my room , my key doesn't work. Fixed it at front desk. Entering the room I search for a guide to channels, wanting wanting to see the Red Sox play. Only being shown in lounge. 9.50 a drink for Crown and water, free lime. I decline a return to that place and choose to read instead. The lamp over the reading chair is out. Not willing to stay here for a while, perhaps empty rooms may surprise change.
I and my wife have gone to this hotel for years. The owners and the staff are excellent. I always look forward to using the pool and hot sauna. I also love the next morning when I go to the cozy breakfast room and eat a breakfast fit for a king.
I stay here quite often and am a smoker, they have a smoking section in the hotel so if you smoke you need to ask for a smoking room. The rooms are clean and they give you a voucher for breakfast. I would prefer a buffet like the other BW's I stay at. They also have a fitness center, pool and hot tub.
Really great experience. You get 7 bucks for breakfast and much appreciated. Nice room and bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful. Will return next trip to the Waterville area. Easy access to 95 interchange
Checked and was directed to pull around to door #3 for closest entryway for room access. Pulled around to Door #3 pull in next to a Black Pickup Truck ( Mass Plates) that seemed to have an interior light left on and no one seemingly inside that I could see. While parking next ti this pickup a hand reaches up from the floor behind driver seat and picks up a softdrink cup and then the cup disappears behind drivers seat. I looked for a while from my car and could the reflection of what looked like an Asian woman hunkering down on floor of the cab of the pickup. I immediately moved my car and parked at door #2. Loaded my lugage onto a cart walked down hallway that stunk of cigarettes.....when approaching elevator there were three people ( 2 guys and a woman standing in front of elevator. One of the men says " hey that's not my luggage!" at this point I am ready for trouble. I respond NO! these are MY BAGS! I try to press the call button for the elevator but the woman in this group has positioned herself against the call button causing me to ask her to please move so I can call the elevator...with a displeased grunt, she moved. I went to my 2nd floor and found one middle aged woman roaming the hall from room to room and yet another woman walking around second floor dressed more like a pro than a guest. I lock the door put the Do not disturb sign on the door and hit the sack Next morning housekeeping knocks twice then opens door while I am trying to get dressed to answer knock. I ask if she saw the do not disturb sign her response " yeah someone stole all the signs form the doors during the night. Head down to the conference room for a class and find pitchers of water being placed on tables I pickup a cup and a pitcher and pour some water, only to find the water in the solid white cup is tinged brown in color. When more class members shopw up someone else pours a cup of water from a different pitcher of water only to say " the water has stuff floating around in it AND IT LOOKS BROWN This place made me feel grossly unsafe and i CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!!!!! If you a family or someone that needs the assurance of feeling safe this may not be the place for you Place is really outdated and people are wandering around everywhere
This a a pretty nice, clean, basic hotel with good rates ($90 for a AAA member). There are 32-Inch LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi, free parking, and a decent, free breakfast. The staff is friendly and courteous. It is right off the highway, but on a snowy night, it was difficult to see the nearby exit.
The location is next to rte. 95. Easy on and off each way. The rooms are nice and clean. The food is very good, and the servers are friendly. Restaurants and the malls are across the street. We will be staying here again.
Great location, easy to find and right across the street from Governors Restaurant. We chose this because it's close to my parents house and it has an indoor pool to burn off some twin 6 year old energy. Very dated interior, room was OK, was warm. Bathroom had some stains. Since it was so cold we chose room service for our meal plan and the food was OK. It was a little discouraging to pay a tip on top of my tip, but they did refund us.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 or 6 nights. Had excellent service. The restaurant served very good food and drink. We used both the pool and work out room. Both areas were well maintained. The hotel staff was very nice. No issues, great stay!
I come to the James D. Julia auctions on a fairly regular basis. The Best Western is a great place to stay for these auctions. It is close to the venue; close to the local restaurants; and good to bring clients to for business meetings. All in all - a friendly staff; a clean hotel - so what else could you want?
We spent the night due to my husbands company holiday party being there, we saw the high reviews and figured why not. First we had to walk all the way through the smoking floor to get to the elevator, and being non-smokers this was less than pleasant. The rooms are a little dated, but a good size. The bathroom was also a good size, but my husband had to run the water for several minutes before his shower due to brown water! I will say that the food was good both at the party and at breakfast the next morning. But we will not be staying here again.
We travel to Maine every year or two and always stay at the Best Western in Waterville. Service is consistently good and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. A cooked-to-order breakfast in the on-site restaurant is included, and is always good. Service can sometimes be a little slow if too many guests arrive simultaneously, but the staff always seems to be doing the best they can with available resources. Housekeeping is gracious with special requests such as extra coffee, etc.
I think that the voucher system is unfair and problematic for the waitstaff in the restaurant. If I hadn't made a special effort to note my total (before the vouchers were applied) I would have only had the receipt for my bill (the remainder of $4 and change) to go on to figure out their tip. I think the restaurant receipts should be redesigned to emphasize the product total, and perhaps give suggested gratuity amounts as I've seen on some receipts. I spoke about my concern while paying to a staff member who appeared to be a manager and she told me that the under-tipping (or lack of tips) "happens all the time." It needs to be addressed. Otherwise, I thought the voucher system was a brilliant way of handling feeding hotel guests!
We stayed two nights for Colby College Family Weekend. The rooms were very clean and nicely appointed. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. The included breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very good. The setting is very rustic with nice old wood beam work. The nightly room rates were very competitive with area hotels. A very nice stay!
Very friendly staff, we had a very comfortable stay. Rooms are recent remodel and fresh. Hotel is quiet and clean. Breakfast is a voucher for cook to order breakfast. We had dinner at the same restaurant which did prove better than breakfast but only because it was very very good.
Travelling through Maine, booked reservation late and arrived at the hotel within 30 minutes of booking, the arrival experience was excellent and was the stay. Comfortable bed, clean room and friendly staff.
Stayed at this Best Western near Colby College for a weekend and it was like we were transported back to the 80s. Room was dark and needed renovation. Bathroom smelled like waste. Walls were paper thin, could hear folks next door casually talking. Bright spots were the service at reception and O'Briens which had great service and decent food.
We have stayed at many Best Westerns throughout this country and rarely have we been disappointed. In fact we are Gold Crown Members, but sadly this hotel was an exception. On the positive side first...the staff in the, "O'Brians", Restauant were very friendly and outgoing. We ate dinner there the evening of our arrival which happened to be, "Wing Night". If we hadn't been so tired from our days travels, we would have sought another site for dinner as the air was very heavy with a grease smell. So much so that the staff turned up the air conditioners in hopes of clearing the air. We complained how cold it was and we were allowed to move away from the direct cold air. But still we were forced to return to our room for heavy jackets in which we ate our dinner. The nights special was Prime Rib, which we ordered med. rare. When it arrived, the meat was very thin and very well done. We sent it back to the kitchen and the staff was very gracious and the waitress apologized . The second plate was much better and the meat done as ordered and much thicker. I thank the waitress for her patience as well as the 15% discount for our inconvenience........the cooked to order complimentary breakfast was excellent the following morning. The biggest disappointment was the mattress...my husband and I agree that it was one step up from a hammock!! Most people who stay at a hotel are seeking a good nights sleep and this mattress certainly did not afford us that...this was room 150. We certainly hope this isn't represenitive of the entire hotel, as this isn't the standard we have become accustomed to while staying in Best Westerns...... It was also obvious that the carpet in the room and hallways haven't been cleaned for a very long time. In all honesty, this room is one that would be expected in a very inexpensive motel....Waterville Best Western is certainly not a, "do over".
After driving awhile it is nice to stay in a hotel with a nice restaurant and lounge. The room was very clean and comfortable. The pool looked good but we didn't use it this time.- maybe next time. Easy to get to, on and off the highway. Lots of area restaurant options but O'Brians in the hotel has a nice lounge and a nice menu. Breakfast choices were many and very good.
Big room, very clean, comfy king size bed that I slept 11 hours straight. Coffee in the room was delicious. Ac quiet & strong. Used the fitness center for a run & then relaxed in the pool. Quiet clean and really nice staff
I have stayed in this hotel many times over the past 10 years. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and has very easy access to the interstate. Restaurant has a good breakfast.
I was going to stay at the Hampton Inn, but had never stayed at a Best Western and thought I'd give it a try. I should have gone with my first instinct! After working a full day and driving 5 hours thanks to awful traffic, we arrived at Waterville very tired at 9 pm. We had to get up and hit the road early the next morning to continue our journey. We just wanted to crash and sleep! The Best Western put us in a first floor room near a back exit, and every five minutes or so people who had been partying in the lounge used our hallway to get to the parking lot. They were speaking loudly, laughing, cell phones were ringing, and it seemed our door was made of paper. Then, a group of people gathered outside our window to talk and laugh and I started to smell something ... pot! Those people were standing outside our room getting high and the smell was coming right through our closed window! Advice to the Best Western: if you are going to offer a party with DJ in your lounge, either do not allow those people to exit through the hotel proper, or post signs on the doors to the hallways stating that hotel patrons may be trying to sleep, so please keep voices down! Patrol the parking lot and stop people from gathering outside hotel windows! To add insult to the situation, in the morning we went to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant and pancakes were tops on the menu ... and we are in Maine, so of course I wanted some of that real, local maple syrup. SURPRISE! THEY DO NOT SERVE REAL MAPLE SYRUP!! I could not BELIEVE this! The hotel is halfway up the state of Maine, we passed sugar houses all over the place, and they didn't have a drop of real syrup in the kitchen!! I don't even buy that fake corn syrup stuff at home, why would I want it when I'm in the maple kingdom of America?!
There is a distinct odor or moldiness from the pool facilities and gym. The included breakfast is merely a dollar credit towards the breakfast in the restaurant, so expect to pay something more for a good breakfast.
Friendly, accommodating staff at front desk and in dining room. Pool and hot tub clean, although the hallway leading to pool area is in need of updating. My favorite place to stay in the area, whether I'm traveling solo, as a couple or with family.
The hotel was above average and satisfied. We did have a problem with the door to our room as the door squeaked. It is strange that the staff had not reported it to the management as a little oil would have solved the problem and my rating would have been excellent.
Our Canadian friends and recommended this stop when we traveled from South New Jersey to Moncton NB Canada.. we had a beautiful Clean room. And a fab breakfast included.. we will look forward r another B st Western Plus for our way home.
Convenient place to stop along the Interstate. Rooms were clean and basic. Free full breakfast with room. Restaurant had a good selection for dinner. Service was good. We stayed here on the way to Nova Scotia and then again on the way back home. Reasonable rates, friendly staff.
We were thoroughly pleased with the personnel and facility in this hotel. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We had tow breakfasts, hors d'oevres, and a buffet group luncheon, all with good food, ample quantity, and efficient service. The huge King sized bed was very comfortable (we'll consider getting one at home). A faulty light switch was promptly fixed.
Easy to find, just off the Interstate! Front desk folks are very professional and make the guest feel more than welcome! Dinner in their restaurant was exceptional. Service was good, environment was warm and friendly and the food was excellent! Breakfast was in the restaurant using vouchers issued by the front desk. Food was excellent, service was excellent, what a great way to start the day!
This hotel had a comfortable bed and pillows. The internet was not very good. The bathroom was clean but the bedroom could have been a bit cleaner, especially behind the doors. The breakfast was a bit ordinary.
Wouldn't bother. Dirty hallways and elevator. Elevator inconveniently located. Long walks to get to rooms. TV broken, had to change rooms. No offer of discount. Breakfast was great - only redeeming quality.
one of the 'best' Best Westerns I've stayed in; very clean rooms, I was on the third floor and there was very little noise, staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast consisted of a buffet or you could order from a menu and BW covered the first $7. Highly recommend this establishment.
This hotel is convenient and has everything you will need, bar, restaurant clean rooms. We had dinner and breakfast and was very satisfied with the food and the service. The price was a little steep but in a college town I expected that.
Stayed here during a high-demand weekend, when lodging options were extremely limited. The room was adequate, and it had its flaws. Lots of pillows, but they were all lumpy. Plenty of cable channels, but the signal failed often. Immediate hot water, but the shower head wasn't clean and the curtain showed mold spots. Large room, but it had a strange odor and the dark carpet was suspect. Dog friendly, but it wasn't my dog's hair on the bedspread. 'Nuff said. It was definitely not worth the high rate of more than $180 per night, but then again, I don't think I'd stay there again no matter how much the price were reduced.
This was probably a luxurious place....in the 1980s.... If you have a dog they'll give you a ground floor room at the back of the hotel. However in this area the hallways look worn/scuffed-up and bathrooms need updating and the a/c didn't seem to work that well as our room felt humid. Room appeared clean. Breakfast vouchers provided for $7 pp at their on site restaurant for which you can choose the buffet or a la carte items. Poor value - $185 USD (including taxes ) for our one night. Staff nice.
Nearby Freeway located a satisfactory choice. Friendly staff, easy check in, good parkking room clean, good breakfast with great service and for a good price. The best thing at this hotel. You can listen Main Street and Freeway day and night.
We worked with Liane and her team for our summer math association retreat. The Best Western staff made sure that we were being taken care of at every turn. If something wasn't just right they took care of it quickly and to our satisfaction. We are a non profit with limited funds- we found this site centrally located in the state, easy to get to (right next to the interstate!), reasonably priced and a great team to work with including conference meeting rooms, hotel accommodations and catering. Thank you for making our summer work less stressful and affordable! We would absolutely book here again.
Good location, pet friendly, VERY warm, welcoming, friendly staff (above average), with easy check in. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant on the premises, which was good enough and convenient. Nice toiletries and my husband loved the TV. The bathroom was tiny and in need of updating (cracked ceiling and wall in tub), but newer sink and floor tile. The room wasn't the cleanest, walls were thin, hallways was EXTREMELY loud (and the noise/noisy neighbors woke us up a few times). Called the front desk and noise did subside. Linen and towels were worn out. Beds were tiny, uncomfortable, and so were the pillows. We did NOT have a good night sleep, which is what we personally ultimately pay for. So despite our nice interactions with staff, we are not rested enough for our 4+ hours drive, and feel that we wasted a $175!
stayed for one night ate at their restaurant room very nice, staff was great, hotel well kept front desk staff very helpful in all ways would return again if in the area some day in the future thank you
We stayed here for one night with our 3 kids. We got 2 adjoining rooms and had plenty of space for our family. When we called the front desk for a pack and play they were really quick to bring it to us. We popped popcorn in the room and watched a movie on the TV. We went swimming that night and in the morning. The pool was clean and my kids loved the pool and hot tub and had a great time. Its a great location- right off the freeway and across from a Walmart and other stores. So we were able to stock up and keep our perishables in the mini fridge. We ate breakfast at O'Briens and everyone enjoyed their food. It was very affordable and the staff was nice. Would definitely stay there again.
I was heading up to Acadia with my wife and three children and we wanted to break the drive up a little so we got a couple of rooms here and stayed for a night. Overall, we really enjoyed the place. I loved how the pool was nearly an olympic sized pool so that I could do some laps and then jump in the hot tub to relax. My kids are young so they enjoyed the pool as well. It was also helpful that I could run out to Wal-Mart (located within a big shopping center, basically across the street) and get some needed items for our camping trip in Acadia. The rooms were nice and clean and the Internet seemed to be plenty fast. One of my favorite parts about staying here was the breakfast at O'Brien's. I got a breakfast skillet, my wife got a meal with eggs, bacon, toast, etc. and the kids got pancakes (reg. and blueberry).I REALLY liked the breakfast skillet and I tried my daughters blueberry pancake and it was very good. The service was good and our waitress was very kind to my kids. The restaurant had a nice feel to it (seemed like it was recently updated). Last, I had spilled something in the trunk of my car and it made a total mess. I asked one of the hotel staff if I could borrow a vacuum and he actually came out and vacuumed it up for me! Went above and beyond the call of duty there. I'll definitely be back next time I'm headed up to Acadia!
The description of hotel was misleading. Were led to believe that there was free breakfast but instead it is breakfast for two from three options or $14 credit towards breakfast at Irish restaurant . Even if the room is booked for three people. The website should clearly say that breakfast is for two people only even if the room holds 3 or 4 people and is booked for 3 people. Sneaky
This hotel was very clean and the restaurant is pretty cool inside. I thought my salad was overpriced and my mixed drink came out weird. Breakfast was awesome though and included in the rate which was nice. The hotel is very old so we thought the rate should be lower. Definitely needs new towels but overall everything was clean and well-kept.
Very comfortable rooms and nice clean hotel. Staff is very helpful and professional. It's right across the street from a big shopping center and a Staples, which is convenient for anything forgotten or last-minute.
Average hotel, didn't arrive until 10:30pm and gone at 8am. Would have liked to use hot tub after long day and long drive, pool closed at 10 (like most others) room was clean but beat on; as in a lot of wear and tear. Staff was great all the way around. Breakfast was good, waitstaff pleasant.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our way up north, and liked it so well we stopped on the way back down. The hallways had a funky smell, but it did not permeate into the rooms. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. We received vouchers for breakfast at the Irish Pub & Restaurant, which is attached to the hotel. Overall, a nice place to stay. .
This is our second stay at this hotel travelling back from the winter in Florida to New Brunswick. Very convenient location as directly off highway and easy to find. Room very clean and friendly staff. We love the on site restaurant and the best included breakfast than any other hotel we have ever stayed in. Will be staying an extra night due to bad travelling weather so really glad we chose this Best Western in Waterville.
Room was dirty. Hair in the shower. Toilet not cleaned. Nasty odor in the room. Extremely noisy. And our floor reeked of pot. Staff seemed unconcerned with our complaints. Never rectified. I will never stay there again.
While visiting for a Colby College Lacrosse game, my husband and I both came down with the flu. The hotel extended our stay daily as needed and was so accommodating. Personnel seemed genuinely concerned about our health and made sure we had everything we needed. Everyone from front desk, restaurant and cleaning staff were helpful and cheerful.
After a four hour drive, walking into the welcoming smell of baking Chocolate chip cookies made the hotel so inviting! We were visiting an area college and only stayed one night. The staff was fun, pleasant and accommodating. The room was clean and spacious and included a hair dryer, iron, refrigerator and microwave. The continental breakfast was very good and had a lot to choose from. I would definitely recommend!
I brought my kids there for a get away. I was not satisfied that I made a complaint and they acted like it didn't matter. I went to pull the window in the room down and the plastic separated from the glass itself and the tips of my fingers got caught in between them leaving blood blisters. Then, swimming in the pool, swarms of ants were coming out of the cracks in the floor. The lady that worked there said it happens all the time and they won't pay to have it taken care of. Then, the lady at the front desk had no personality and glum. Acted like she didn't want to be there. Won't be going back.
For a Plus hotel, and the price, I was sadly disappointed. Again, got a room not on the ground floor (is this a common thing if you are a member of a particular hotel chain - never getting a convenient ground floor room? seems to be even time I book a hotel no matter the chain and provide my member number, automatic second floor or above, just saying) and in the back of the hotel. I always ask to be able to see my vehicle from my room and it never happens, and it didn't again here. Room was average, nothing I saw to give the hotel a Plus to its name. Never enough plugs in a hotel room by the beds, could not plug my cell in at my bedside. Had to wait 5 minutes for hot water to come from the bathroom sink and still didn't need to add cold to make it tolerable. Shower was a little better but not much, no waiting but not really hot. Booked with "breakfast included" but didn't go, so I asked if there was a different price if you didn't book with breakfast included and was told no. So why make that a choice when booking? Either offer a different rate to choose if guest doesn't want breakfast or don't give a choice. Overall an average room at a "Plus" price. Not much to choose from in the Waterville area but will shop around next time for a better deal.
We traveled to Waterville to see our daughter and her team play tennis. Not knowing the area I depended on the internet for a good hotel and this was a good choice! The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious.
This worked out well for us to visit family, and be close to shopping and food. Nice accomodations w a pool and spacious enough for our family of 5. It was right off the highway as well, and provided a good continental breakfast each morning before heading out.
Frequent visitor, convenient to highway and downtown. Great staff. Rooms are clean with fridge and microwave. Restaurant menu could use an upgrade but food is decent. Reliable place to stay. Would definitely recommend.
I stayed here with my daughter in early March. Hotel is close to the highway and conveniently located near several stores and restaurants. The breakfast is pretty good, but it's a sit-down meal at the restaurant starting at 7. It was slow service on a busy weekend, but pretty good food. The hotel seems to have been remodeled in the past few years, but a few corners of it still feel a but dingy and neglected (mainly near the pool). Overall, a decent stay and a good value, but not amazing.
I had the pleasure of staying over here on March 6th to attend a meeting in Waterville the following day . Staff was friendly and attentive . Check in office lounge area was warm , nicely furnished and well appointed . Coffee kiosk near the lounge bathrooms was an added BONUS the morning of the 7th ! The restaurant is clean -comfortable & convenient and I got good service and a great meal ! The room was nicely appointed and clean & VERY comfortable - & a very reasonable cost . Another huge bonus is that it's located adjacent to the Interstate exchange so it's easy to get to and depart from and quickly be on your way - yet close to everything in Waterville too ! For location it gets 6 Stars ! Overall -5 Stars !
Room were clean, Bed was comfortable, bathroom was functional. Skip the breakfast the service is very, very slow and food is sub par, they overcooked the eggs Benedict I ordered, plus the cost of $4.25 for juice is expensive. I would recommend going across the street to the Governor's Restaurant & Bakery. The front desk was very helpful and accommodating. Overall I would stay here again.
Typical, but clean and dog friendly room. Food and service at O'Brien's Restaurant and Pub was top notch! Sarah was a most pleasant and dedicated bar tender and server. Enjoyed our evening of food and conversation.
We stayed for a funeral. They gave us a heavily discounted bereavement rate. The staff was very nice for the most part. Front desk staff was amazing. They made a room available to our parties to get away from the bar/restaurant, because it was "wing night" for the locals. Pool attendant wasn't friendly, but everyone is entitled to a bad day. Waitstaff was very nice (especially Sue!) , one particular bartender was beyond rude, but I think it was a by-product of a miscommunication and a busy "wing night". All in all, not a bad stay. The room was clean and neat. Shower was beyond hot, which was great. The suite was clean and neat. The restaurant breakfast was good. The place could use an update, but given that it sounds like the place doesn't fill up, it'll probably stay as is. The WiFi wasn't great, but I think it may be the area. A clean quiet hotel for a great price, even without the discount.
I was in room 216, on the 2nd floor. I found it very convenient that each floor had a close-by drink vending machine and ice machine. We were able to do laundry for cheap up on the third floor. The pool area was nice, relaxing hot tub. I have a disability where I have a hard time walking so I had to be using my walker. Staff was extremely accommodating, very polite, "Can I help you with anything, can I carry that for you, how are you feeling today, etc." but still were respectful towards my disability and did not ask about it, which meant a lot to me. Because the lobby was a ways away from our room (this hotel is very very large) that was a bit of a struggle getting over there. As far as I saw the pool was wheelchair-accessible -- I brought my walker down without any issues. Plenty of stores and food was within a minutes drive - Walamrt, banks, K-Mart, dollar stores, fast food, restaurants and a hospital. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone - kids, couples, families and singles, whether you have any type of disability or you're perfectly healthy, they will work it all out for you. Happy to answer all the questions I had and again, very very polite and genuinely caring. I love this hotel and would come back if need be. Thank you, Best Western Plus in Waterville, Maine, for helping my mother and I, her 18 year-old daughter. This was a beautiful hotel and though the price wasn't outrageous, it was affordable and you definitely got your money's worth.
A truly good sit down restaurant style breakfast sealed the deal for us for staying at this hotel. Eggs any way you want them with all the fixings or a large list of other items. A great way to start the day and unique in our experience with most hotels where you are offered a continental breakfast. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient, room was clean and comfortable and it had a good lounge/bar to wash the road grit out our mouths when we arrived. Good value, would recommend to anyone. Only complaint is the wifi, very weak signal in room.
Recently spent two nights at Best Western Plus Waterville as a group of four ladies on a girls getaway/shopping trip. This was our first time staying at this location. The location is convenient with easy access to and from the interstate. All amenities (shopping, restaurants, fuel) are located nearby. The hotel staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. Although it appears the hotel has had some updates, it could definitely stand to have additional updates as common areas, pool area and rooms look tired and dated. Cleanliness of rooms could be improved. Upon checking into our room, we discovered popcorn left under furniture from a previous guest that was not vacuumed, hairs in the bathroom tub, cobweb in a corner lampshade and crumbs and lint on carpet in hallways around elevator. Beds were of average comfort. Advertising of free breakfast is a bit misleading as maximum of 2 $7.00 credit vouchers toward breakfast per room are given regardless of how many people are staying in each room and most breakfast menu items cost more than $7.00 each. However, the breakfast was very good and very large portions. Probably would not stay here again unless offered at a lower room rate.
I am used to staying in Hampton Inns and Holiday Inns and found this a poor substitute. The room was clean but bathroom had inexpensive fixtures and low water pressure. I heard a lot of noise from the hallway. The breakfast options were of low quality and not very healthy.
A little late with this review, but definitely want to take a minute to thank the staff of this Best Western for a great stay. We were in town the weekend of September 16th visiting friends in Norridgewock, and chose this hotel based on reviews, rates and proximity. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, the common areas were clean and our room was spotless and comfortable. We also enjoyed breakfast both days, which was included in our stay. Lots of shopping and restaurant options literally in walking distance. An overall great stay. We will definitely stay again the next time we are in town.
Outside of Hotel and common areas were dirty. Fitness area - POOR Room was ok, bed was comfortable, Restaurant food was ok. I don't really recommend, especially for the RATE. NOT A GOOD VALUE. - One Night -
The hotel is easily accessible from the highway with plenty of free parking. The room was large, clean, quiet and comfortable with a microwave and small refrigerator. Wifi was also free (and worked well) and I received a coupon for a complimentary breakfast and enjoyed the pancakes with bacon option. The service was good and I met the hotel's owner who was greeting guests in the restaurant, and seemed genuinely concerned about my experience.
Whenever I travel trough central Maine I stay at the Best Western Plus in Waterville. Comfortable, Safe, Clean, Value! Good resteraunt. Close to highway. Close to other resteraunts and shopping. I never consider trying a different hotel. Why be disappointed? DanO
Great hotel with a great staff. Was on a business trip and the hotel internet was easy to log into and I was able to complete my work with no interruptions. Room was clean and comfortable make it easy to rest for my presentation the next day. I will be staying at this hotel in the future and will recommend to friends and family.
Well we stopped here years ago and had a great visit, so I made a point to make this a stop since our visit years ago was so nice. This time, we got a room on the 3rd floor. You have to walk thru the smoking section and wow that makes you feel dizzy. Then to the elevator. Then when we got to our room someone was in the room. I had to go back down the elevator, thru the smoking section to the desk ( its a good walk) told the young lady that someone was in that room. She said are you sure? Yes, she said she was in here. Oh she said, that's never happened before. So again. off I go, thru the smoking section, up the elevator, to the 3rd floor and when we got the door open it smelt like mold. I hadn't the energy to go back down and find a new room. It was a bad situation. The smell was coming from the bathroom so I kept the door shut and that helped. Our most enjoyable moment was the breakfast. It was wonderful. I was so pleased.
My stay at this hotel was pleasant because the room was clean. Breakfast area was inviting; typical hotel breakfast. I couldn't get hooked up to the free wifi. So I just used my data. It may be frustrating if free wifi is important to you. Good for an overnight stay. Would stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay here at the Best Western Plus Waterville. There many amenities and the staff was friendly. The included breakfast at the attached restaurant was exceptional! It was right off the highway so easy to find.
We were disappointed in our service this time. We have stayed before and enjoyed our stay.I felt the staff were overwhelmed and they were understaffed or unprepared for the number of guests. The food is wonderful but the service is poor.
We stay at the Best Western Plus line of hotels for the cleanliness and presentation of the rooms and hotel. This hotel was run down with old carpets and dark bland interior decorating. Each of our beds had red/orange crusted stains on the top duvet cover and the room was dated and dirty. I went to give my 2 year old son a bath and the tub was dirty with stains all over it. Not acceptable for this line of hotel and would highly advise to avoid it. I will be writing directly to Best Western in addition to this review.
Me and my partner dropped in looking for a room, after a 2 day drive all the way from newfoundland. We came in looking for a room. To my surprise they had one. Room was very clean. Had free hot breakfast that was served very fast and tasted great. I would stay here again.
Had to stay night before an early morning procedure. The hotel was nice, clean, people friendly. They had freshly baked cookies in the lobby when we arrived. We got a voucher for a free breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel and it was good. They give you $7 coupon towards any breakfast, or choice of three average menu items, which were good. The waitress was very friendly. Only minor complaints I have are lumpy pillows, noisy AC, and sticky floor in bathroom.
We spend a week or more at this hotel every Summer while we teach search dogs on the Colby College Campus. Everything about this property is A+++ All of our students stay as well. Very dog friendly hotel!! Breakfast is great in the hotel restaurant and all the hotel staff are friendly and happy to do whatever is needed to make your stay awesome. They were even able to accomodate some last minute people. Darlene ( General Manager) is like family to us. We will be back in 2017 for sure.
The hotel was very clean and the staff was great. The only one complaint that I have is that there was a very strong mildew smell in the bathroom coming from the shower curtain. I've noticed this at many hotels and there has to be some way to remedy it. It was a cloth shower curtain and you could tell that it was never completely dried out before being pushed to one side hampering the odds of it drying out. The hotel gives you a voucher for breakfast at their onsite restaurant. What a great deal that is. Both my husband and I had a FULL breakfast and the total for the check was $6.64 (including tip) after using the vouchers provided by the hotel. The food was wonderful with very friendly service.
Slightly dated but clean rooms. Friendly staff. Very close to everything. Very close to highway and easy to find. Small breakfast included. Wrap around parking lot making it easy to access. Attached restaurant.
Every staff member was so friendly. The only complaint was are free hot breakfast took a while to be seated with empty seats available. Price of hotel room was higher than I wanted to pay. But it was peak season, Saturday night, and several hotels had no vacancies. Glad to get a nice room on limited choices and under circumstances.
We unexpectedly needed to stay over night with our dog. The hotel is clean, rooms not fancy, but comfortable. The staff is super friendly and offered me a toothbrush and toothpaste when I asked where I could go that would be open. Nice place for a reasonably priced low key stay. Just a heads up, the hall in the dog friendly area must also be near the smoking rooms and smells like it. Room was fine but you can definitely smell smoke in the hall.
We went to this hotel for one night, thank goodness it was only one. The hallways were dirty, spiders in the stairwell, carpets were stained and "cut" The indoor pool, had such an "odor" to it we did not use it. We had a 2 double-bed room, the room itself was pretty clean. The beds were terrible to sleep on, too hard for my liking. They advertise a "free full breakfast" when you are a guest, however what was not told to us, is it is actually a $7 per person credit with a max credit of $14 per room, so we had 3 people, my husband, daughter, and myself. Our "free breakfast" ended up costing us $15 plus tip, (not happy) as we ate the morning prior up the road at a small diner and our total bill was $21 for better food, and much better service. Our waitress never even came back to our table to offer more drinks. I do not recommend eating dinner in the restaurant either, my daughter and I had Chicken Quesadillas, and may I say the movie theater has better for half the cost. My husband ordered a simple hamburger, a bit pink in the middle, and they came out with a well done burger. Only reason we didn't send it all back, is we were truly the only people in the restaurant at the time, and it took over 40 mins to get our food. Only good thing I can say, is this hotel is dog friendly.
Spent a couple of nights here for a wedding. Shower head leaked more than it sprayed. Window sill covered in coffee stains and dead bugs. No water glasses after maid cleaned the room. Noisy with cigarette smoke seeping into non-smoking room. Lousy tiny square pillows.....just a bad place to stay. Reported problems when checking out...response..." We'll look into it " No apology at all....I think they just don't care.
Very few hotels have Smoking rooms, this is an exception. Clean, modern and smoking room. Excellent air conditioning that filtered the smell out as well. Friendly helpful staff willing to please. Pool, hot tub, fitness room. Restaurant and pub. Great location off 95 north about an hour from Bangor going north. Will book this hotel again.
We love staying here. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The food in the restaurant is always good. The pool is always clean and the water is warm enough for me to get into without taking 10 minutes
This was a descent place for a quick overnight stop. Convenient to I-95. It is an older hotel and could use an update but comfortable. Nice free breakfast served in restaurant there with a voucher. There is a buffet or you can pick from a designated menu. Waitress was excellent. Restaurants nearby for other meals. My only negative and it is because I am a Hotel Rescue Geek is that the nightstand lamps were extremely dusty. They look like the hadn't been dusted in weeks.
I stayed here one night during my road trip. Reception staff were friendly, quick and efficient both at check in and departure. I had room 305. Nice clean room with fridge, coffee maker, microwave, bath tub, ironing board & iron and king size bed. Free fast wi-fi. For breakfast, I was given a $7 voucher which was sufficient for two eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, juice and coffee. There is an indoor pool and fitness room. Home Depot, Walmart and all the essentials of life are across the street. Andrew
Staff were very helpful, rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The immediate area in not especially nice as it is in a area of stores etc, but it is a good location if you are traveling. Hotel restaurant was a bit dated, but the food was fine and the service was good.
Just off exit 130 on I-95 is the Best Western Hotel. The rooms were good sized, beds comfortable and staff friendly. Microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker in each room. Large desk and free wifi. Indoor pool. Breakfast included. My only complaint was that the hotel directory and map did not tell us how to get to the lobby. Since we'd come by bus we'd entered from the back and had no idea how to reach the lobby.
I would have rated this hotel poor, but considering the low cost it escapes with an average. For starters, there is a bar or function room just as you enter the hotel. Everybody is standing outside smoking. You need to walk through the smoke cloud to get into the hotel. I reserved two rooms for my family consisting of my wife and I and our two small boys. I requested adjoining rooms. I understand that's not guaranteed, so be it. I called TWICE to confirm the reservations and make sure they had the note about the request for adjoining rooms, which they confirmed. SO ... as we register the desk clerk says that they do not have adjoining rooms for two different kind or rooms. We booked one with a king for us, and another with two doubles for the boys. Why the hell would two different people confirm that they had our request and not bother to tell me that they couldn't even honor the request in the first place as we had booked two separate types of rooms. It made no sense, the desk clerk either couldn't understand how they made a mistake or didn't want to understand. Then she pulled the "well you didn't talk to me" bit and I just gave up. We dealt with it. Breakfast is ok but if you're looking for a great buffet or something, don't bother. The waitstaff at the restaurant where breakfast is held are all very sweet. The eggs are reconstituted from a package of powder and it just didn't appear all that presentable. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought it might be somewhere in between what they had and a Holiday Inn Express ... the gold standard for included breakfast buffet. Like I said, it's inexpensive here for a reason, just don't expect much.
Room was very large and comfortable. Bed was also very comfortable. Staff was very friendly. We stayed here on our way to Nova Scotia. Breakfast was buffet and was very good, many items to choose from. Suit cases brought to room very quickly.
We booked a one night stay at the Best Western on a trip to Maine. The was located right at the exit off Route 95. The check inn staff were pleasant and informative. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. It included a refrigerator and microwave as well as a small coffee brewer with the fixings. Our room charge also included a voucher for a full breakfast . The dining room was a true post and beam appearance which made for a very pleasant environment. Out server was delightful and made sure our coffee cup was never empty. Breakfast was more than adequate and set us up for our next day of travel, refreshed and satisfied.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and facility was spotless. The restaurant was terrible. I made the mistake of ordering one of the "specials", prime rib. It was without a doubt the worst prime rib I have ever eaten or should I say tried to eat. Our server asked how it was so I told her it was terrible and she just shrugged. The next morning breakfast was not much better. The eggs were cold, we were never served coffee after being seated and the hostess had a serious attitude problem. I will not condemn the entire hotel because of the restaurant, but if you do stay here make sure you eat elsewhere.
On our trip to Canada from Connecticut, We stayed the night in this lovely hotel. They brought the suitcases to our rooms in record time, and there were cookies and juice waiting for all visitors. Add to that a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning before we got on our way. It was a great experience with clean rooms and helpful hands, I would recommend this place to everyone !,
I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and decorated very well. I loved the courtyard with the trees and beautiful flowerbeds. It is the perfect place to have a picnic lunch. The saltwater pool was great and very relaxing. I really enjoyed my stay and plan to go back.
Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, Restaurant (O'Reily's) was charming with modestly priced good food, but limited menu. We had a back inside room which was quiet and easily accessed. They include a breakfast beginning at 7:00 but we had to leave before 7 so cannot comment on the breakfast.
We found this motel to be pleasant, clean and affordable. Very helpful staff. Attached Irish bar/restaurant we great. The breakfast voucher for the restaurant was a delightful surprise for a real breakfast. I would highly recommend this Best Western
Stayed there for one night during a business trip. The staff was friendly and generally the room was clean (there was a large strand of hair on the bathroom ceiling). Also finding the elevator from the lobby requires a map and compass. Would I stay here again, yes I would. The only thing I would have an issue with is the way Best Western advertises "free breakfast". Simply put it is not. It is a voucher system. 7 dollars for one person and 14 for two or more and you only get three different breakfast choices. This didn't effect me because I was travelling alone. However if I was travelling with my wife and daughter I would have been upset. Marketing it as a free breakfast simply is untruthful and dishonest
Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel is in close proximity to Colby College Museum of Art (great collection of regional and international artists). O'Brien's Irish Restaurant and Pub is located on the property and offers a good selection of breakfast and dinner options. My understanding is hat this hotel was recently upgraded, although it is hard to tell; colors and furnishings appear outdated. Aside from that the room was clean, staff were friendly, and the hotel was quiet.
I am a 75yr old Disabled Vet and had requested 2 bed room on first floor as I have walking disability from service. First thing get sent to 2nd floor King. Nobody even read reservation. Finally got a room in the Zoo section where doors had beware of cat signs posted on doors and hall stunk of cat urine. Did I forget to mention that room was so far away front desk ,coffee, Breakfast etc that my wife and I passed on it. If you are I cat lover this is the place for you
This hotel was extremely clean and staff was excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend friends to stay here. Plan on returning. Hope it stays as is. There is nothing to improve. Even let your four-legged friends stay. Wonderful hotel and state!!!
1.) We live out of town and we stayed at this hotel because my fiancé had to work 12 hours on Friday in Waterville and had to be to work very early on Saturday for another 10 hour day, we stayed thinking he would get more rest. 2.) I wanted to order room service however the "guest information booklet" if you can call it that was extremely void of information and the room service had very little to choose from and no pricing information. 3.) The quality of the room is awful for the price, for being recently renovated it was not as nice as it could have been. Not enough open outlets for electronics. Lots of cords were visable and plugged into power strips. 4.) There is a VERY VERY LOUD bar in this hotel! At 10:00pm we were treated to the base coming from the music in the bar. Which was so loud it sounded like someone was parked outside of our room with the music blasting. When we called the front desk we were told that it was an "event" that would go until 1am. The second time we called the desk assistant said they would ask them to turn down the base and would let us know if they didn't. - They didn't at 11:00 I personally went to the front desk to be moved further away from the bar. We packed up our stuff at 11:00pm to move to a handicapped room, the condition of this room was much the same but quieter. In the morning when my fiancé took a shower the handicap shower littered water ALL OVER the floor, there was no way to prevent this, as he didn't realize this until after his shower, the clothes he had laid on the floor to wear (as there was no where else in the bathroom to put them) were SOAKED (dripping soaked). 4.) The breakfast provided in the price of the room was very limited. We have stayed at the Best Western Merry Manor in Portland Maine and loved it so much we have stayed multiple times. We entered into the rewards program because of that particular hotel. The Best Western "Plus" in Waterville should be embarrassed to be part of the best western chain. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again. If they want a recommendation I would say they have A LOT of work to do and need to model after the Best Western Merry Manor in Portland Maine.
This is one of the friendliest hotels that I have stayed in. All of the staff was very helpful with anything that I needed during my stay. The hotel was clean and well decorated. I will be staying here again.
We stayed here for 1 night. Rooms were clean and relatively comfortable. The restaurant is more of a bar and we were the only people that ate there that evening (there seemed to be quite a few people in the bar end though), the waiter was very helpful, the food was average (burgers, sandwiches and fries). NB breakfast is not a buffet but waitress served, it was a bit slow. We hadn't expected this and we were in a hurry, when we explained that the waitress was helpful and tried to move things along for us.
Easy access off I 95. Extremely courteous desk staff. Clean room and common spaces. King -no smoking was indeed that with a very comfortable bed. Highway noise was minimal. Be sure to get your voucher for basic breakfast which is a hot, fresh breakfast for free! Great coffee. Plenty of parking and close to downtown Waterville for access to restaurants etc. The bathroom is a bit small, but very adequate. Great full length mirror. Wish there were more outlets near the bed so you don't have to unplug everything else to charge phone and tablet.
The hotel was excellent in all aspects. Lobby was warm and friendly, staff was knowledgeable. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. My one night stay was outstanding. The location of this best western was right off the interstate highway with plenty of restaurants to choose from. It also had it's own restaurant.
Upgraded motel with an extremely comfortable bed and quiet room on the top (third) floor. We enjoyed our breakfast and the allowance ($14) given to cover breakfast. I definitely would consider staying at the Best Western Plus if I was staying in Waterville again.
This place was right off the highway, but not too noisy. The rooms were spacious and clean. There was a pool and exercise room. But the best part was O'Brien's, where you could get meals and drinks on the premises. Lively atmosphere, with good food and great service.
I was attending a business conference in the area. I chose this hotel for it's location, price, and because they have a pool and fitness room on-site. The Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well appointed. I enjoyed using the fitness room, but the pool was a nightmare. Despite the fact that there were signs everywhere saying, "No Jumping," "Children must be attended at all times," etc... the pool area was overrun with 15 children, jumping, splashing, and being largely ignored by their parents who were sitting, socializing with each other on the deck. The pool attendant came out several times in the short time I was there to try and reign the kids in but it was not enough. There was no lap lane set up so children were constantly jumping in the water in front of me, cutting me off and being unruly while I was trying to lap swim. I ended up leaving after 15 minutes because the pool was such a water park. I noticed when I left there were prices for pool use. I believe the community has access as well as hotel guests and it seemed parents were bringing their kids to the pool like it was a playground. Overall a nice hotel, but since I chose it so I could use the pool I was very disappointed that I was not able to. Maybe there should be times where children are not permitted so hotel guests can actually use the pool.
We have stayed here a couple of times. The rooms are ok, the facilities are ok, the staff is terrific. The staff is very friendly and service oriented, they are what keep us coming back. There is a pool and work out area. The restaurant could use some updating. The rooms were clean.
We only stayed one night but this is a good place to stay. Newly updated it shows with better mattresses and new decor. The hotel is clean and well laid out. It is centrally located with many places to eat. The only negatives were the wifi which seems to become very slow once the hotel filled up and one tv channel which kept cutting out during shows, the front desk said that always happens with the HD channels. I am thinking maybe you should have it fixed. Overall a nice hotel to overnight.
I've stayed here many times over the years while traveling through maine. Very friendly staff. Their pub has relatively tasty food too! Rooms are clean and the beds are so comfy! Rooms also have all the amenities you could need for your stay!
one handicap parking spot per entrance , broken bed, not handicap friendly. internet never worked over two days. Told front desk I couldn't walk far so I need something close to the exit they put me as far away as they could,
The room was clean and in good condition. The walls thin, so heard people in the halls and the fridge was noisy. The staff was excellent from check-in to the restaurant. Food was good and a good value. The Pool area was ok, However the Hot Tub was broken and in poor working condition.
My family stayed at this hotel and had a great weekend. The pool was huge and my kids loved it. The restaurant gives you a hot breakfast, not a microwaved one and the rooms were very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I want to thank the staff for a fun weekend away!!!
We have stayed at this Best Western several times. The rooms are clean. The staff is courteous and helpful and the breakfast is decent. It is very close to the highway but we never heard the traffic. Worth the money
We were spending only 1 night to help out with my Dad. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, Our room was on the first floor, which I normally do not like, was very spacious (desk, sitting chair, refrigerator, large TV & King Bed). The bathroom had been refurbished with a nice vanity and new surround for tub and shower area. THe bed was very comfortable. We did not swim but we liked the idea of an indoor pool. We went to have a night cap in the pub about 8:30 and found the bartender to be very cordial and friendly. Food that we saw looked tasty for a pub. THere is plenty of parking and many ways to enter the hotel regardless of where you park. We had a non-smoking, King, room. Overall a great experience. We'd stay there again.
All of the outer safety locks are disabled and there are a lot of nooks and crannies to the hallways of this hotel. So therefore anyone could walk in and be hiding anywhere. Free breakfast was a joke. We were 2 adults and 2 kids. We booked because it said complimentary breakfast but come to find out it was a coupon for up to 14 dollars off and each meal was 7.00. So 2 could eat and 2 could watch. Needless to say MCDs here we come. Disappointing! The restaurant manager was rude as well saying things like well you could have 15 people in your room and I'm supposed to feed everyone. It was awful. We also had to fight for towels everyday. We had 4 people in the room and they would only leave us 2 towels. We had to get questioned everyday why we needed more. I wont stay here again!
My two daughters and I stayed in the hotel's suite for a local dance competition. The room was nice and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but overall we were happy.
Great place to stay when visiting your child at Colby! The hotel is convenient to campus. Rooms are good - beds are comfortable. Breakfast is good. Fitness center looks decent. We will stay there again when visiting Colby.
Stayed night for my son's birthday. Kids had a blast loved the pool. Restaurant attached has smallest menu I've ever seen and aweful service but the hotel was fine! Clean rooms comfortable beds and the Xbox hooked up to the TV easily.
No coffee in lobby, front desk suggested I but some at the hotel restaurant. Parking lot was icy and not plowed, even after several complaints. Did not comply with Platinum Status rules. Reservations didn't match room location. Front desk staff was not knowledgeable. Room was nice.
I just ran up to the middle of Maine for a one day business trip. All the people that I had interacted with were very nice, from the people at the hotel to the business staff and owner, and all the people at the various restaurants we ate at. This hotel is dog friendly which was the main reason for my choice. And I loved the breakfast, which was included. I did not use the pool, but I'm not a pool person. I would definitely stay here again.
Connectivity in the rooms is a joke. Go somewhere else if you need internet. Imagine if a hotel told you that because the place was full, the toilets were going to flush every once in a while, and that the best idea would be to flush when no one else was in the hotel. Apart from the internet, the place is good enough for Waterville.
first time staying here. room was great, very clean and spacious. bed was very comfortable which is not the case at most places we've stayed before. pool and hot tub were clean, indoor, and convenient to use. staff was friendly and the included breakfast in the resturant was awesome, not just the usual donuts, fruit, and coffee. overall very satisfied
The room was very spacious. It had a good size fridge, decent microwave and coffee pot. The furnishings were very nice especially the granite topped vanity in the bathroom. Linens were nice and bed comfortable. I loved that there are many, many plugs, a large desk and good office chair at the desk. The restaurant is very good. The pool was very warm. The entire pool area, hot tub, fitness center, showers are in need of updating. They are all pretty depressing and poorly lit, especially pool area. The hot tub is a bit of a joke, it's the size and kind you would find on your neighbors back yard deck. The entire hotel is laid out in a very weird way. Difficult to find and get to the elevators, lobby and pool. Hotel is convenient to highway and stores, restaurants on Main St. The menu and times for room service were confusing. Staff friendly.
My daughter wanted to book a hotel with friends for the weekend. They had fun in the pool and hot tub. Overall the Hotel was nice. It was clean, the rooms were large, and the pool area was clean and everyone was friendly.
Pool staff do not enforce rules. Many adults buy memberships to the pool and fitness center, therefore have an expectation that they will be able to use the facility as it is intended. Instead, there are frequently screaming and out of control children at the pool, especially on weekends. The rooms are very nice, as is the restaurant .
My wife and my in-laws stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend. We chose it because they are pet friendly, up to 85 pounds I believe. Our room was as nice as you would expect from a Best Western. The room service did not turn the heat off during the day so it was sweltering at night when we got back. The toilet paper rolls were not fresh when we first got there. There was a stain on one of the over blankets. We received $7 vouchers (each person got one) for breakfast in the morning. The breakfast and staff in the restaurant was great! Food was very good and the service was great, too. If we go back to Okaland/Waterville we would probably stay here again.
Seeing as it's in the middle of Maine, you're not going to get a 5-star hotel. However, this is probably the best in the area. I've had WiFi issues here in the past, but this time I had the 3rd floor, and no issues at all. So, I'd suggest 3rd floor.
This hotel is very conveniently located just off I-95 (there's a Ruby Tuesday Restaurant just a short walk away -> we had a nice dinner there). The staff at check-in was not very friendly (they just did their basic job and didn't look quite happy). Our room was clean and spacious (king sized bed, flatscreen tv, fridge, microwave and a bathroom with plenty of surface storage). Odd: the breakfast voucher had to be picked up at the reception the next morning, and was not handed our during check-in. There were two waitresses at the hotel restaurant during breakfast. The younger one was polite and friendly, but the other one was very unfriendly and not very attentive. So all in all there's plenty of room for improvement concerning the friendliness of some employees at this property.
We stayed for the weekend, good area for shopping, the place needs a little updating, but the staff more than makes up for that. We go there because of the pool and hot tub. They have a very nice breakfast plan where you can order what you like from their restaurant for the breakfast.
Overall a good place to stay. Restaurant served a great dinner although it was noisy ,because it was wing night, it attracted a lot of beer drinkers. Also the room heater/fan was noisy. The sit down service breakfast was excellent and had a good selection.
Clean hotel. Great breakfast. Good value. O'Brien's restaurant makes a great breakfast that is individually prepared, not the typical rubber egg buffet that you get at most hotels. Good deal for the price. I will go there again for my next business trip to Waterville.
Not looking to break the bank on a hotel overnight - looking for clean, quiet and comfortable. This hotel fit the bill. We were 2 adults and a teen, so wish they had larger than double-sized beds, and it would have been better to have had 3 bath towels instead of 2. But the TV worked, the heat worked, the fridge and micro were a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. All food was tasty and well-prepared. Adequate for an overnight stay.
I recently had two visits to this location. For both visits my reservation was for a room with a king bed. However, when I checked in for the first visit I was informed that the room I had reserved wasn't available and they put me in a room with two double beds. This in itself wasn't a big issue however, the entry door for the room they provided was in need of replacement and had to physically be pushed closed until it latched. Also, the layout of this hotel isn't the best. On a good note, it was extremely convenient having a restaurant located within the hotel and with the ability to charge meals to the room. Most of the meals were quite good and were offered reasonable, but not great prices.
The Best Western in Waterville was nice and clean. The room was nice. The receptionist checking me in, however, appeared to have no interest in her job or me. I was very disappointed that the WIFI did not work in my room. When I complained about it in the morning I was told it works great in all rooms. The problem was that Inhad an IPad. It was extremely loud in the morning when the maids were cleaning.
Stayed here whilst on business - it's a friendly little place with good food and facilities. The hotel - well not exactly 'grand' but certainly very friendly and for a business stop out here in Fairfield - well it's great. Staff - lovely helpful people - can you ask for anymore? Hotel - a little dated but still functional - comfortable room and large comfy bed! Food - was great - breakfast is entertaining - I won't say anymore but the waitresses are great - try it!
good location close to the highway, quiet rooms but small bathrooms, comfortable beds with luxury linens, friendly staff throughout and good food at the restaurant, make sure you try the prime rib...it was excellent...great value and a nice place to stay, pet friendly also
Traveling with a dog and this was a nice, clean hotel and conference center. Had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and it was awesome -- complete with waitresses, juice and eggs cooked to order. Best breakfast on our trip. Hotel gives you a voucher, so you have to pay a little money for the breakfast, but it was worth it. Wish we had eaten there the night before. Really good room rate too.
We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet even though there were many teenagers staying there. The breakfast was delicious. The people at the desk were very helpful and informative. We would certainly return to this hotel.
hotel was very convenient to highway. they also had a restaurant and lounge, and since we arrived late, it was great to just walk down the hall to eat and relax. the room was very comfortable and was well cared for.
We had a good stay here. The rooms are adequately sized and the beds were VERY comfortable. We had breakfast in the morning and it was very good. Everyone was helpful and friendly. It is right off the highway so easy to access. A good choice!
I've been a Best Western costumer for over a decade and find them to be consistently comfortable and affordable. I would definitely recommend the Best Western PLUS Waterville Grand Hotel to anyone visiting this city in Maine.
