Resumen de la reserva
Well located hotel, friendly/helpful hotel staff, clean rooms, superb breakfast. We were in Västervik to visit our Swedish cousins. The storybook town with well preserved architecture is located on the Baltic coast.
Whilst hotel has a great spa and is generally very nice, I felt it was stretching value for money when I paid 1789 per night and quite shocked when I learned that a continued stay would cost me 2156kr per night when i considered extending stay due to other reasons. Breakfast very average. Superior Room was large but OK (no fridge, no USB points etc.).
Everything you need and can possibly expect in this pleasant category of hotels. Perfect location. Friendly staff. Extensive breakfast. Very comfy beds. And Västervik is a rare pearl on the Swedish east coast.
We stayed one night, arriving late and the room was extremely hot. You can't open the window. Which is a real problem, because outside temperature was ok. A ventilator was luckily in the room, but I don't like the fact that you can never have fresh air in their rooms. The room furniture was nice and the breakfast was good too.
I stayed here whilst i attended a wedding nearby. This hotel is in a great location, just a stone's throw from centre of the town which is quaint and right on the water. My room was good. The only issues I had were that one of the curtains was stuck and wouldn't open or close. The other issue was the bath area. The bath isn't secured to the floor so you could actually tip it up. I would suggest taking it out altogether and just have a shower and also remove the unattractive plastic doors separating the bath area from the sink and toilet. I only ate breakfast here and it was amazing. A huge choice and great quality. One of the best I have experienced for variety.
Great hotel and friendly staff in the middle of Västervik. My standard hotel when visiting Västervik. Good value for the money. Breakfast is better than average hotel standard. A small spa department is availible free of charge.
Very hospitable hotel in a great location. Facilities although not the biggest are very good and well maintained. The rooms are good size etc. However a bit of modernisation would improve the overall feel..........
The position is central and close to both the harbor and the main street. The staff is professional and efficient and the hotel is very beautiful. It offers a lot of services like a restaurant, a gym, a spa with locker rooms, sauna and a small pool. The room was spacious but beds was not very comfortable and furthermore there were a lot of noise outside the room during all the night.
A wonderful staff and an excellent kitchen made our birth-day party a memorable evening. The arcipelagy panorama wiew made our guests most excited. The venue is in all ways perfect for celebrations including food, dancing and joy.
Set one street back from the quay side in this traditional revamped sea fishing town. The hotel is dated but it was quiet, clean and friendly. Having travelled a lot this was a bit over priced because of its location at £132. Lots of free parking on the side street too.
Clean hotel with good breakfast in the center of Västervik. We stayed for one night on our road trip and it was easy to park, very short walking distance to the water and to the city centre with restaurants and cafes. Lovely little town.
!4 th of April, Best Western Hotel in Västervik ( Stadt) in co-operation with The Wine Yielder Association of Munskänkarna Västervik organized a wine exposition and tasting event. At least 159 wines from all possible categories were presented, not all countries or regions of course. A couple of Master Class seminars, a tapas plate and a collection of cheeses completed the the feast. Visitors seemed highly pleased and asked for prolongation and a follow up coming on shortly. People had in groups and pairs attended to participate the evening before in a Winemakers Dinner of 5 courses and Italian wines were the festival was included in a package.
Hotel is located in the city center, close to the Baltic sea. Underground garage for parking. Room was nice, clean, equiped with all you need to get relaxed after a long working day. Had a dinner at the hotel restaurant, for Caesar salad i paid approx 16.50€ and for local beer 0.33 i paid 7.90€. Bottles beer at the hotels in sweden are very expensive. It is worth to find liquer shop where you can find really nice local beers for "normal" price. I bought 6 swedish IPAs and paid 13€. Breakfast at this hotel were great, many options, including making your own waffle, everything fresh and tasty.
Stayed for a weekend Conference. Couldnt be better. Nice room, excellent breakfast and dinners. Good facilities for work. Good parking place (we needed av spot for disabled) Elevators direct to reception and room.
The chief sommelier led an attractive tasting containing different grapes from five different regions in Italy. Most appreciated, at least for the more experienced tasters ,was the Tenuta Rasciatano Nero di Troia 2007 from Puglia. The tasty accompanying italian plate was delicious.
We arrived by car and the hotel was easy to find thanks to the specific driving directions that we found in advance on the hotel's web page. We didn't use the hotel's parking garage as there was a cheaper public parking area just opposite the hotel, which cost 100 SEK/day. When we arrived around lunch time our room was not ready so we left our luggage in the hotel's storage room for a few hours. When we came back to check in the receptionist was nice and explained to us about the hotel, for example regarding the spa area and the gym. There was coffee, tea and biscuits in the lounge beside the reception, which was free for hotel guests. We asked about the menu in the Ekobar (the restaurant on the top floor) as we hadn't found that menu on their web page and wondered if we could have dinner there or if they only served light snacks, but the receptionist wasn't sure. A short while after we came up to our room, the receptionist knocked on the door and gave us a menu for the Ekobar that she had found. That was very helpful and we appreciated the service. The room was quite large and in addition to the desk there was also a sofa with a small table. The beds were quite comfortable, but the quilt was too thick and warm as the room was quite warm. The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower and a proper sliding partition wall to prevent the water from splashing on the floor. There was a large area beside the wash basin to put your things on. Wifi worked well. The gym was very small with only a few multifunction strength training machines, which I didn't find very good, and there were also a few cardio machines. Beside the gym there was a pool but it was very small. After walking through the changing rooms there was a spa area with a warm Jacuzzi, a sauna and a small relax area with a few chairs and this spa area was nice despite the small size. We had dinner one evening in the restaurant on the ground floor, the Black Rock Grill, where we had a great meal (I have written a separate review on that). The other evening we had dinner in the Ekobar on the top floor, where there was seating both indoors and outdoors on a narrow balcony. It was more casual than the restaurant on the ground floor, but the food was good. The breakfast buffet was very good, although the buffet area felt a bit crowded at moments when there were a lot of people. There was good bread and also homemade crisp bread (one of the staff mentioned it was homemade), cold cut meat, different types of cheese, marmalade, vegetables, fresh fruit, juice, yoghurt, cereal, nuts and even cakes and croissants. There was also a hot section with eggs, bacon and pancakes with jam and nutella.
Lovely hotel close to the water, restaurants, bars and shops. Quiet area but also close enough to the bars etc along the cobbled street. Nice rooms with plenty of space and large bathroom. We didn't eat at the hotel as it was cheaper to eat elsewhere. There is a nice central area at reception that's brilliant for meeting with family and friends and the hotel bar close by too.
Two professional sommeliérs from best Western Hotel Västervik led a competition between French and american chardonnays, pinot noirs and Zinfandels. Informative, and pleasant not to forget the masterpiece from the kitchen: barbeque/colaglazed sirloin steak.
Västervik isn't a large city and this hotel is consequently well-located nearby the harbour area and the pedestrian shopping streets. The hotel seems mainly focused on conference guests, providing meeting rooms and a relax/sauna/gym/pool area. It also has a restaurant. The layout of the hotel is not the usual one; the lobby is e.g. co-located with the large breakfast room and 20-30 steps into the building, behind the restaurant. The ceiling height in the hotel is generally very low which adds to the feeling that the hotel is not very modern. It's kept very clean, though. Our room was a family room that could sleep 4 in two rooms, sharing one bathroom. Much space - except for the bathroom which was of normal size for a double room. Also here, very clean. The bathroom had been renovated later than the rest of the room. The beds were soft and not very comfortable - especially not the two "kids" beds that were very narrow. Wi-Fi works well. The breakfast had highs and lows. Missing oat meal. Some of the hot choices (meat balls, sausages) were prefabricated which signals low quality. In contrast, the breakfast did offer some very good things (e.g. smoothies and small cold cuts) unique to the hotel. Long distances between tables and the food - which is also spread out over a large area; somewhat confusing to e.g. have to walk over a corridor to find coffee and tea. One would expect a lower price in a small city a regular winter weekend - so the value was overall so-so. Guess competition is not that fierce in Västervik. Friendly staff at the reception, but both times we used it, it took the staff 2-4 minutes to come. Parking in the street - the hotel also offers parking, but the fee is unnecessary hefty.
Rooms are nice, and with good standard. The bed i liked, also there is a kettle in the room a small detail that I really appreciate. Also visited the restaurant and to my satisfaktion there where several non meat options. They have a fitnes and spa, but i had no time to use it on this trip. Not the cheapest, but OK value for money.
on our south Sweden trip we stayed here. this is a nice place by a small harbor. it has a small terras overlooking the harbor, and a small restaurant. we did not have dinner here so i cannot comment. breakfast was OK, standard i will say. service is good and friendly. if we go back we will stay again.
We stayed at this hotel one night in July 2016. Friendly, efficient staff at the reception. The room was quiet and spacious, the bathroom seemed fairly new. The window could not be opened, but efficient aircon provided very nice and fresh air. Comfy beds! The only thing that needs improvement is the closing mechanism of the doors. Every time a door in the corridor was closed the walls were shaking, and the mirror banged against the wall. The breakfast buffet was okay, but it was too tight in the buffet area. Convenient parking in the basement with elevator. All in all: We absolutely recommend this hotel.
Clean and quiet room. Great breakfest buffé...even if it was little to narrow between the buffé tables. Grill restaurant was great with really nice staff. Short walk to harbour area and remains of the fortress ++ location and staff + room - N/A
Great hotel, great breakfast, great location. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We ate in the Black Rock restaurant one night which again was excellent. All round very good and will stay again one day. Thanks.
A nice hotel in center of town. Rooms are ok and they have free wi-FI. We did not try the restaurant but breakfast was excellent with plenty to choose from! Walking distance to a number of decent places to eat at! The hotel provides parking at a charge!
The hotel checks all the boxes. Central, clean and super spacious (albeit old rooms), good spar and helpful front desk staff. Service during breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. The staff began clearing away the food at least 10 (!) minutes ahead of the scheduled end of breakfast! They even unapologetically cleared away the food while we were still serving ourselves having arrived late (but still within the indicated time for breakfast). The hotel avails complementary coffee, tea, cookies (and occasionally croissants) around the clock. A really nice touch! I would come back but I might also first check around for other options.
Very pleasant place to stay impressive decor...staff was very courteous, and attentive. the buffet breakfast is very diverse and cooked to perfection..the restaurant cooked meal to order wine a great wine selection also hotel very close to the pier and very blue clear water..
I have stayed several times at Best Western Stadshotellet Västervik, and I think it is good. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and the Black Rock restaurant impressed me with a surprisingly good light dinner last nigjt, a well seasoned wrap. Keep up yhe good work!
We have stayed here for three nights. The hotel is located very nicely downtown. Parking space can be found outside on the road. The hotel itself is different than expected from the pictures not very modern. The overall style is old fashioned and simply needs someone to take care of renovation and new decoration. We have had a room which was quite spacious but also not very modern. Wifi didn't work at all in the room (will never understand why those kind of chains won't get this under control) which was annoying. We had to sit downstairs in the lobby in the evenings to get a connection. Tea, coffee & biscuits are available 24h for free. Breakfast was fine though the room where it is served is quite old fashioned as well.
Very good located at 2mn from sea and lake front. The rooms are large, nice bathroom. The rooms are air conditioned. Personal friendly and at your disposal. You will find what you like for breakfest on the large buffet.
This was my seccond time on Best Western. I really like them. The personal is really nice and awesome, the have great breakfast ( with options for ecological food and really healthy!). You can have coffee or tea any time you want, and they have pool and gym also ( but i haven't been to the pool or gym). It is right in the center, very close to everything!
Good location and helpful staff but the security system is crazy. We had one room on 4 and one on 5....your room key only gets you to your floor using elevator. We were a family of 6 with 3 per room. You can only imagine the mess that was. And room key only gets you onto stairs of your floor.
