Resumen de la reserva
Use this property most times when visiting family in State College area. Typically excellent experience and good value. Clean, well appointed rooms. Property is well maintained and furniture & facilities up-to-date. Comfortable room with no noise issues at night. Breakfast selections are nice and hot & fresh. Staff is very professional and friendly. The only real issue encountered on this trip was lack of WiFi internet service. Apparently it would be several days before this could be addressed due to our stay falling on Sunday. Other than Wi-Fi issue, still highly recommend this hotel for value and location away from the fray in State College itself.
It was not our best experience. The hotel staff was very abrupt with us. The breakfast was just okay. Not the best coffee I had. There wasNo internet service for the duration of our stay. And we received our welcome gift from the wedding party as we were leaving the hotel. And then only after we asked for it.
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great experience overall. The location is fantastic—super convenient to get around and explore the area. The rooms were clean and comfortable, which is always a top priority for me. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a nice variety of options to start the day. Definitely worth waking up for! One thing to note: like many hotels these days, they don't automatically take out the trash daily—you have to request it. It's not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Despite that, I'd absolutely stay here again. Great value for the price!
Breakfast advertised wrong times, it stops an hour before time. Politely rude attitudes. Not recognized upon entering. Smoe wired guy hanging around outside. Beware of the fourth floor....the floors were uneven it felt like a ship at sea .
Readers should know that, for chain hotels, I give a rating of 4 if it lives up to chain standards. So the 5 rating here means something is superior. Our room was a 1 King suite, and it was an outstanding value for the price. We had plenty of room to spread out, so we were comfortable each with space to set up our computers. Bed was comfortable, bathroom generous. The complementary breakfast here was just a bit tastier than I'm used to. Yes, it's still prepackaged eggs, precooked bacon, potatoes, biscuits--and sadly, the make-it-yourself waffle irons were out of order--but it seemed a bit more carefully warmed and fresh than what I had in other stops on this trip. I'm thinking this is a relatively newer BW looking to capitalize on the Penn State traffic. And yes, the Penn State posters that flanked the elevator reveals their target market. But they were quite convenient along our route, and I can certainly recommend them.
Always our place to stay when visiting our grandkids! Close to them, clean, modern, well stocked breakfast and all employees are helpful and friendly.
The BW+ is close enough for anything you need to do in State College, but far enough away when you need to get some quiet time. The amenities are great and the staff is AMAZING! I always look forward to the time I spend here.
Stayed overnight on our way to Rhode Island. Found the hotel online and happy that reviews were consistent with experience. Clean room. Excellent staff. Good hot breakfast. .
I came up to Penn State with my neighbor and our two sons for a wrestling tournament and this place couldn't have been more perfect. It is in a great location and close to 99 which made travel around the area easy. They have nice clean rooms, nice staff, great breakfast, a nice pool and fitness room. Couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay here and will be staying here again. Thanks to all of the staff for such an enjoyable stay!
Great place and very helpful staff. We plan on staying at this one again on our next Ice Hockey visit. The breakfast was well balanced and well stocked. the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. One of my better experiences, be there again soon.
We were a swim/dive team that competed at state college. We rented 20+ rooms.. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and roomy. The athletes had lights out at 10pm and there were no calls or complaints. The district manager, Kevin came in early on Saturday and opened up breakfast for our team at 6am. It was a healthy and filling breakfast that the athletes enjoyed and needed for a long day of competition. The entire staff was wonderful. Our experience was perfect. The rooms, commons area and breakfast areas were very clean. The staff was accommodating and professional and most importantly, friendly. We plan to stay at this location again next year at this time. Thank you to Kevin, and his entire best western team. Sincerely, North Allegheny HS Swim and Dive Boosters Association
Friendly and fast check in. Room was clean. I had control of the temperature setting in the room. Refrigerator was handy. Coffee make in room. Breakfast had so many options. Something for everyone's taste and pleasure. Would recommend.
I realize the property is charging market rate for a football weekend, but for premium prices I expect much more, including decent pillows. Shower curtain was also moldy. Walls are also very thin in this rehabbed property. We could hear every word spoken in the adjoining room and hallway, as well as the person upstairs pacing around a 11:00pm. Not a restful sleep.
The hotel was conviently located near the stadium and local shopping center. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room and hotel was well kept and clean. The indoor pool was very refreshing. The noon checkout made the final day more relaxing and less rushed. The complimentary breakfast was typical for hotel free breakfasts. It was satisfying and convienent. The overall stay was pleasant and I would return the next time I am visiting
The people at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and in good repair. My only wish is that they had charging ports. Everyone seems to travel with a lot of electronic devices today. The breakfast similar to other places offering breakfast with the room but it was good and tasty.
Great hotel. The rooms were comparable to the Wyndham. I found this hotel was quieter (less noise from adjacent rooms, hallway). Everything was clean and hotel felt safe. Front desk staff was pleasant. Hardworking staff keeping breakfast area clean.
Staying at the Best Western in State College, PA. was very good. The price of the one night was reasonable. In fact a comparable hotel down the street wanted $65 more. It is good to know that there was this reasonable option. AND, the room was spacious, beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was good!
Room was good, appeared to be fairly recently renovated but could see some of the old around the edges. Typical forced air unit under the window. Beds were not good, I had trouble after sleeping there one night. Pillows on king bed were tiny and sparse (if they are that small there should be six not four). Tried to get more but only had one left so must be a common problem. Shower pressure was good but the shower head was way too high, no way to reach to adjust. Breakfast was good and had a nice selection that staff kept well refilled. Was good at normal prices would never pay what they charge on special event weekends. Kind of out of the way but not too far from campus.
We stayed for a conference for four nights and it was very nice. All of the blankets, sheet, towel, and pillows were clean. All the hotel staff was very friendly as well. Breakfast was good, but it is the same every day, so after four days it isa little exhaustive. The only issues I had was the noise. We could hear every little noise from other rooms, the hallway, the elevator, and the ice machine. It was definitely not intentional, the walls are just thin. Also the specific room we were in was right in front the smoking area outside so we couldn't open our window without our entire room smelling like cigarette smoke (room 219).
staff was so friendly and very helpful cant think of bad experience that we encountered during our stay whenever we stay at best western we feel like we are home .close to many restaurants and shopping perfectly located
5 minutes north of campus and close off the highway without having to hear it all night! Room and bathroom was clean and staff was there to greet me at check in. The inclusive breakfast had no meat items and the sausage gravy was empty at 7am *(no one attending the food area in the 20 minutes I sat there). Overall a good deal for a non-peak overnight stay
I stayed here while attending events held by an organization HQed in the area and this hotel is very convenient to that location. I have stayed here a number of times in the past and have always had a good stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is especially good and features make-your-own waffles and other hot selections.
Affordably priced rooms with friendly staff and great service. A hot complimentary breakfast is included with your stay along with updated coffee machines in the lobby. The outdoor seating area is a plus for warm days and evenings to sit and relax if you choose to not go to one of the many area gathering spots.
What a wonderful hotel. The staff is terrific, the breakfast was terrific and the rooms were wonderful. Overall, I would recommend this hotel highly. It's very close to Penn State University, and only 30 minutes from Camp Woodward which was a major reason we booked here, while our kids were at camp. There is a movie theater in the same parking lot, a Wal-Mart across the street, and lots of other restaurants and shopping nearby,
Furniture in rooms are dinged and worn, clock was set to wrong time, tv in fitness center didn't work, staff don't ask adults to supervise their children at the pool or other areas of the hotel. Stay anywhere else
We stayed here during a visit to Penn State. The property was clean. Our room was clean. We needed additional towels and blankets and they provided them immediately. The staff was very kind and accommodating.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and we're always pleased with our room, the breakfast and the pool. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. We stay at Best Western hotels as often as we can and we find this is one of our favorites
The King Suite was very clean and spacious. Front desk was attentive and the breakfast was delicious and fully stocked. It is a few minutes out from campus and the stadium but would definitely stay here again! We did not get to check out the pool but we saw other guests taking advantage. It was a great experience for our family.
I enjoy my stay it was shortened for work. But because I am a flight attendant it's location was great minute from airport and FBO. Breakfast was good. This was during Halloween so the staff was very involved with the holiday which was great
Very good location, clean rooms and it's very quiet and the breakfast is good. Staff were very nice and friendly specially Christina the front desk worker, she is very patient, helpful and polite .. she is a good employee.
My husband recently retired and we were just out and about. Went to Chambersberg,Gettysburg and decided to relax and not return home- I was Leary about booking online some hotels are very disappointing. This one was not- very clean, neat, staff accommodating. Price very good. Would recommend staying here.
Clean and courteous! Close to university, convenient to visit. Pool and fitness were a plus! Needs to have room service daily. Front desk staff were very pleasant. Plenty of resturants close by and Sheetz across the street was great!
stayed a night after PSU closed for summer. asked for ground floor and ended up w a room on the top floor. super noisy from the machine(air-cond??) on the roof. the humming and shaking noise drive one crazy....otherwise breakfast was fair.
Very clean and very polite people working there. The breakfast was very well prepared and plentiful. The motel was very clean and really made you feel like being home. Any service you would like someone was willing to make sure you were happy.
No real complaints, chean room, comfortable bed, all the amenities one expects in the room. The only complaint would be the lack of WIFI coverage, we could not get signal in our room. Front desk said it was probably the distance our room was from the router (We were 4th floor, opposite side from desk). I had to go down to the lobby to get a signal. Perhaps the hotel could invest a few $ in repeaters on every floor.
Clean big rooms, nice continental breakfast and pleased with times, smaller pool but kids enjoyed it,but no hot tub pool only, the staff was kind. Military discount was a great value we would stay here again.
A newer hotel with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside, large and clean rooms, exceptionally friendly staff. Good breakfast, which is somewhat unusual during covid times. Note that staff is NOT masked, but this has become the hospitality standard during omicron. Relatively good value in this day and age, during off season when the university is on summer break .
We came to State College from Portland, OR for our son's graduation. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and the amenities were great. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
There was a significant droning and vibration noise above a top floor room. After sharing that with hotel staff, the response was something along the lines of 'be sure to request a room on a different level next time.'
I enjoyed my stay as always at this Best Western. The quality of the room and staff were great. The only area for improvement would be to add more variety of breakfast options from day to day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the State College area.
Always a great experience to stay here. Very clean, very quiet (I have never stayed here for a football game or anything though), friendly staff. I like the location because it's not downtown but is still very conveniently located to all things Happy Valley. :-)
The sales manager, Vicky, was extremely satisfying to the needs of our group. She was very pleasant and went above and beyond to make our experience at the Best Western the absolute most trouble free experience. The hotel is very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast offered a nice, fresh variety of hot and cold foods. The check in and check out time was very convenient. This hotel is perfect...great employees and great location. We most definitely be revisiting this hotel in the future!
I was put in a room directly across from the elevator after asking that I not be close to the elevator. I was woken up 5-6 times from the loud chime of the elevator every time someone got on or off. Either shut off the chime or don't put people in rooms directly across from it. From what I paid for the room, I would expect to get more than a few hours of sleep!
My husband and I were here for one night to visit our graduate school student - our first stay at this BW. The place is well marked and easy to find! The staff at check-in greeted us so nicely, welcoming (and thanking) us as reward members. Our room exceeded our expectations in terms of space and layout - very comfortable if we were doing a multi-night stay (note for future stays). Super large TV and comfortable bed and pillows. I'd say based on the parking lot and breakfast, they were about 30% full - and we never heard another guest from our room. This one is within walking distance of a movie theatre and a mexican restaurant - and is very close to a gas station for filling up before you leave. Easy access to I-99 to arrive/leave State College.
I had no issues during my stay. Hotel staff went above and beyond what was expected of them. The property was easy to get to and very clean. I only stayed the one night but would recommend this hotel for multiple stays and visits.
I can honestly say this was the best thought out motel I have ever stayed at. The room had all the right accommodations from the sitting area including ottoman and side table, the oversized desk/work area with enough outlets throughout the room, the large padded bench for suitcases at the perfect height, the refrigerator/microwave area with enough room for all our snacks/food, the bedside clock with 2 USB charging ports and the bathroom with not only amazing water pressure, but large enough size towels, plenty of outlets and a magnified mirror. The hotel seemed to be going through some renovations but everything was kept in neat order out of the way. Another plus was the carpeted stairwell, as we do like to take the stairs. Normally hotels have basic cement stairwell that doesn't feel safe, the carpeted well maintained stairwell felt safe and inviting as part of motel and not just an emergency exit. The only addition I would recommend is a white noise machine, as we could hear the guy in the next room coughing all night long.
This hotel was very nice with great amenities. The breakfast was good and the people were friendly. I stayed for work during a storm and they did well clearing the roads before I had to leave for work.
This is one of my favorite properties, Management & the staff are very friendly, the property Is always clean outside & in, the pool and breakfast are always great and location is in the middle of everything.
This hotel is funky and a little noisy on a weekend night, but it was inexpensive and very close to the airport for our 6 AM flight. The room was good size, amenities were stocked and the front desk was friendly and helpful
On a girls' road trip and deciding where to stay for the night and ended up here. Great choice! Hotel located away from the highway yet easy to find. Guest relations clerk very pleasant and happy to meet our needs. We enjoyed comfortable spacious rooms very clean with adequate bath towels and toiletries. Our clerk suggested several places to eat; we had dinner at Perkins, a short drive from the hotel; good food and service. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise! Egg and cheese omelets, bacon, French toast sticks-ok not the restaurant variety but still pretty good. Plentiful coffee and juice with other breakfast items. The young lady attending the breakfast was exceptional in maintaining the area and attentive to guest needs. Would stay here again!
Stayed here for a weekend trip to State College. Hotel was great. Recently renovated. Rooms were very nice. Maid service was excellent. Great breakfast in the morning. Staff was super friendly and so helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were nice size and clean. Comfy beds. Refrigerator worked well….drinks ice cold. The Hamilton Beach pod coffee brewer not up to Keurig standards. Water flow out of shower head was not the best. We did not partake in the included breakfast. Our receptionist, Christina, was very pleasant and helpful!
We are a touring band who generally book multiple rooms in 3-4 different hotels per week. This hotel in College, PA has to be one of the nicest, cleanest and most hospitable hotels we've stayed in. Wonderful staff, extremely accommodating, beautiful hotel/rooms and the 12:00 check out time is just fabulous. This should be renamed as The Bestest Western !! 5 Stars across the board !
This Best Western Plus was a great surprise. This was our 3rd and best hotel on our 8 day road trip. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast had a good mix of hot and cold options and there was coffee/tea available 24/7. The only thing that needed to be updated was the handheld shower head. Also, some of the TV remote buttons didn't work but that overall was very minor. We would definitely stay here again as it had easy access to shopping and highways nearby as well as Penn State. Very pleased with this stay!
This is the only place I will stay when I go get my child from camp. It is clean, friendly, has a good breakfast, the amenities are great. It checks all of the boxes for an exceptional value. It is family friendly and safe.
Stayed here for a baseball tournament. Very clean. Pool was warm. Lobby was very nice. Plenty of parking. Good location! Close to Penn State and mall. Other shopping areas and gas stations. Not a busy area for traffic either. Would recommend.
This is the third time that I have held a weekend meeting at this hotel. Each time the staff have gone above and beyond in their service. They are pleasant, helpful and always serve with a smile. Not one individual did I encounter had anything but a pleasant smile and attitude from maintenance to housekeeping to front desk. All personnel were great.
Traveling 50-100 nights a year, I understand that hotel employees/managers have to deal with some very irritating, demanding guests. Housekeepers have a very unappreciated job to begin with but the (manager?) Samantha was cursing (lots of F word, calling them F-n stupid etc.) and threatening(should fire you for you being so F-n dumb and slow) two of the housekeepers for what sounded like they didn't notice a hair in the shower while cleaning. This is an unacceptable way to treat a human being working hard every day. I tried calling to speak to the manager about this issue and unfortunately was told that she is the general manager. I see other reviews with similar issues about her behavior for at least the past 2-3 YEARS and would really like to know why Best Western corporate has not addressed this behavior. Shame on them. I hope these housekeepers know that as a guest, I appreciate what they do and hope that SOMEBODY DOES SOMETHING about this abuse.
They appear to have had a facelift at the hotel, which has a more spacious lobby and somewhat lighter carpet since I was last here. I prefer the previous esthetic, to be honest. Breakfast is still a grab-and-go. I had the most bizarre check-in experience. Front desk staff looked at my temporary drivers license issued by the DMV and suggested it could be easily forged. "Where are you from? I'm skeptical," he said. He then demanded an alternative form of identification. Incredible. Basically accusing me to my face of being a criminal. All this at 10:40pm in the evening after a four hour drive when all I wanted to do was get a room.
hotel was clean but Best Western is price gouging. $1,450 for two nights in state college. I must have been out of my mind to pay that. Never again. They would not even compromise on the rate even when I went online to see see what the room price was on May 8th ($350) compared to March 17th ($650) when I originally booked the room. The owners should be ashamed of themselves.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and we're always pleased with our stay. The staff is helpful and always pleasant. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Due to covid, we are unable to have a hot breakfast but we're hoping that will return soon.
No hot water to take a shower after driving for 8 hours. Grab and Go breakfast was pathetic. Then they expect me to pay for the room? I don't think so. If a restaurant serves a cold meal, or a mechanic replaces your car's oil, but not the filter, would you pay for it? I expect a hotel to give me the services and amenities I pay for, mainly a clean room and a hot shower. Room was nice, but was still grubby walking out the door in the morning.
Staff was great, good location, clean rooms, fair prices. Breakfast was limited due to the pandemic but that should return soon I hope. No bar but they have a Beautiful patio out back that my family enjoyed with our own snacks and beverages.
The Hotel was great, room was nice except for the bathroom mirrors were really dirty, the microwave and microwave area was dirty, the coffee maker was really nasty, and one the side table lamps didn't work.
The lobby & property are always well kept, the rooms are nicely decorated & clean with comfortable beds but the best part is the staff that goes out their way to make sure their guest are well taken care of.
very nice and clean modern hotel in a great location. Located close to the interstate, food, and shopping. The rooms are very large, and allow for movement without bumping into furniture. The large step in shower was a very nice surprise.
We had a Nice room. The grab n go breakfast was decent. Could have more drink choices. Nice clean pool, however it was a bit chilly for being heated. The friendly staff was a plus. We would stay again.
Hotel was noisy. Disturbances in the hallway. Police had to respond to the hotel three times and remove a guest. Staff was not very helpful during the disturbances which was very disappointing. There was also drug and tobacco smoke lingering in the hallway.
When needing a hotel in State College. I choose BW plus because it's clean, they accommodate to make sure no one has stayed in your room for a few days, for COVID precautions, they are nice, and the price is good.
I stayed in this Best Western about 2 years ago and it was beautiful. We stayed there on 9/26/2020 and it was still nice but showing many signs of wear and tear. Our room had some peeling wallpaper and a large crack in the shower enclosure. The gym is small with equipment in need of repair. The hot tub was also broken. They have no breakfast to speak of as advertised. They have terrible coffee from a machine, no fresh brewed, and a couple things to grab and go for breakfast that were poor quality. I understand the breakfast has to be a grab and go, but I stayed at the Hyatt downtown the next night and that Hotel does it right. I wouldn't go back, not worth it and it's 10 minutes from downtown. In addition, the walls were thin and I could hear conversations from the room next door half the night.
Traveled with my family and another family to State College for a wrestling tournament. The tournament had blocks reserved at the Best Western Plus on Premiere Drive. So after looking at the website, we took a chance and reserved our rooms with them. Exterior of hotel was clean and parking lots were well maintained. Enter the lobby...very clean. Area marked for social distancing. 2 clerks behind desk checking people in as it was very busy. Checkin went quickly. Given our keys and went to elevator. Our room was on 3rd floor and with all our stuff, elevator was best bet. Elevator was VERY slow. Get up to 3rd floor. Found our room. Large room...2 queen beds...smelled very clean...looked well kept. No stains on furniture or carpet or the linens. Bathroom was spotless. We were pleased with the room. My kids enjoyed the pool (the staff limited the number of people in the room at a time). Pool are was super clean. Only problem (and I do NOT blame the hotel for this) was kids from other rooms running in the halls and slamming doors and banging on walls until 11:30pm. I blame the adults who were chaperones for those kids for not controlling them. Managed to get to sleep. Room temperature was great. Beds were so comfortable. We all slept soundly. Breakfast in the morning was limited but we expected that...I mean we are in the middle of a pandemic. Prepackaged pastries, cereal and misc frozen items (sandwiches, mini waffles, breakfast pizza). It was enough for my family. It was a grab and go selection. Check out was simple. Our entire stay was better than expected. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Bed: Soft and comfortable with plenty of pillows. Breakfast: no hot breakfast due to Covid but they offered a nice to go bag with goodies and water. Amenities: Hair dryer and plenty of fluffy towel in bathroom. Staff: Staff was very pleasant and attentive upon check in and check out. You can tell they take pride in their hotel. Price: the price was actually lower than we have previously paid. We enjoy staying here because there parking garage for long-term parking is under the hotel and it is securely locked with a metal gate. You must use your room key card in order to get into the parking garage.
I understand were in the middle of a pandemic, but when you are still charging over $100 a night for a room, one would expect Housekeeping everyday. The breakfast selection was horrible, Frozen breakfast sandwhiches you have to microwave, there was no milk, just SOY! If you work night shift and sleep during the day dont plan on getting any sleep because they are obviously doing renovations. They are understaffed and from what I heard while standing at the desk to turn my key in, the staff that is still working are treated very rudely. All I heard was a Woman in the back (who im guessing is the manager) Yelling at the front desk guy. Screaming and cursing F this F that and that its not her GD problem (which my kid heard!). I genually felt bad for that employee. What kind of manager curses at and degrades her employees? Disgusting! I will never stay here again for that exact reason.
My room was comfortable and clean, staff was helpful, high speed internet was useful and the breakfasts were outstanding. Very nice location to stay and I'd stay there again if i travel to State College.
We loved being at the hotel. The rooms were amazing and beds I slept like a baby. Also breakfast was wonderful. Staff was nice and very friendly. I also got an added bonus that penn state university was real close and got the opportunity to tour ftbll stadium
Stayed one night while traveling. Very clean, quiet room. Free breakfast was nice, typical selections for a hotel of this type. Check in was quick and friendly. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.
Traveled to State College to visit our freshman daughter at PSU. We stayed two nights in this hotel and found the room to be very spacious with two queen beds. Room was very clean and found it to be quiet although the hotel wasn't very busy for this time of year. The hotel was more out of the way from the college than we thought but it worked out perfectly fine. We will definitely be going back to visit our daughter and will more than likely be choosing to stay at this hotel.
Was awake all night listening to the occupant in the adjacent room snoring, vibrating my bed! I did not get any sleep. Hotel is very cheaply built, can hear everything in the adjacent room. Don't recommend this hotel.
I always enjoy staying here when the price is reasonable. Clean, comfortable, staff is professional and very warm and welcoming. Breakfast is really good and a variety of food. The breakfast attendant is always on task with keeping the hot food ready for anyone. I will stay again and again! Would prefer full sized pillows though!!
Planned a surprise trip for my daughter following a Polar Express train ride with the intention of spending the night in the pool, however staff failed to mention the pool was closed for renovations. We just checked in and my daughter is crushed. We are currently looking for a different hotel to book for the night.
Comfortable and convenient to the highway. I left a briefcase and could not be happier with the way housekeeping and Denny at the front desk handled the problem. I was notified quickly and my briefcase and laptop were UPS'd to me right away and arrived safely. Thank you!
Pleasant staff upon check in, stay and check out. very accommodating and clean. I did think it was closer to highway 80 when I first booked the reservation but it wasn't very far off my route. For the few extra minutes to get there for a good hotel I would stay again.
Staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was great with a lot of variety. The hotel was very clean and housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room. The hotel is in a nice location with a good mix of businesses around.
Room was clean and neat, staff was considerate, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well done. We are looking forward to staying there again. Parking was adequate, hotel was quiet after 10 pm and before 9 am.
Nice hotel. Convenient location. Price was reasonable compared to other hotels on a game weekend. Buffet breakfast was included. Only suggestion is to replace pillows. The pillows in our King size room were tiny and uncomfortable.
Great stay! Great location! Accommodations were CLEAN and comfortable. Patrick was very friendly and customer service oriented. Breakfast was fine. Lo ya to offer- eggs, make your own waffles, oatmeal. Yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit. Coffee was great! Several flavored creamers to choose from. Overall- incredible value!
The staff was remarkable! We would go out of our way to stay here. Hotel was clean and accessible to PennState Campus, plus close to shopping and restaurants. The morning breakfast that came with the room was outstanding too!
Very pleasant and comfortable: large, spacious king-bed rm; breakfast well maintained in a comfortable environment; people super nice and accommodating, and; the indoor pool is actually maintained at a comfortable temp. Nicer than most "affordable" hotels!
My son is a penn state student and we often come to visit. We have stayed in other hotels near the university but Best Western is the best place for price, comfort and is not to far away from the university. We have made our hotel decision for the next 5 years. We will only stay at this Best Western
We needed a room while friend was operated on and the accommodations and staff were very good. We were able to utilize a "Flash Sale" and god an excellent price. Hotel is very close to the mall and the hospital.
This hotel continues to impress in general. Friendly, helpful staff. Well maintained facility. Great breakfast. And comfortable meeting room. My only complaint this trip is that there was no service of the meeting room overnight. Our lunch from Saturday didn't smell very nice Sunday morning.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, spacious room, good breakfast, and convenient location. We hope to stay at Best Western Plus again in the future. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to others.
While State College, housing Penn State, is large, the hotel is half way between there and quaint Bellefonte, home of The American Philatelic Society museum/library. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable, but the bathroom was odd. Grab bar was outside the actual shower, and the shower curtain was 2 inches too short, which meant the bathmat and at least one large towel needed to be laid outside the shower to sop up all the water it was impossible to prevent flowing outside the shower. Toilet paper holder was inconveniently placed beside the toilet tank, behind you. The breakfast served daily from 7-10 was wonderful. A large array of hot and cold dishes, several juices, etc. was kept filled and fresh. Plus, there is a mini "store" next to the reception desk with everything from chips to ice cream to frozen meals (microwave in each room). Only thing missing was a bar where people could gather in the evenings. One of the receptionists, Emily, was a superb customer service rep of the hotel....kudos to her unflagging cheerfulness and can-do attitude. Would stay there again.
My wife and I were going to Belllfonte, PA for a Symposium , and your hotel was the the hotel chosen for the stay in the area. We were very pleased, you staff was great, the room clean and spacious, and you were located only 10 minutes from the "American Philatelic Society. And a special THANKS to Samantha at the front desk, she was extremely helpful. Also there are many restaurants in the area, both north and south of the hotel, all within 10 to 15 mins. We will surely stay there when in the area.
Nice staff, good breakfast, clean rooms - my only complaint would be that (all) of the hotels in the Penn state area are guilty of price gouging during family weekends, football games, etc. Not sure how they get away with this; I've stayed in 5 star resort in NYC for less than I paid to stay here doing family weekend.
Enjoyed the stay, the location and local restaurants. State College is a great place to spend any time especially the month of Oct. So much to do and enjoy. Great college atmosphere. Very nice selection of restaurants anything from typical chain to local grub. The down town area was easy to get to with shopping, unique stores that had unique items gift and themes. People including the students were friendly and non threatening. The campus has lots to offer and can be found on internet or information provided at the hotel.
The check in staff was great! Very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Great stay for 3 moms 3 girls for one night while visiting Penn State for a sporting event.
Great staff, clean rooms, very nice hotel, good location. We went to see a concert at the Bryce Jordan Center, and if we go back we will stay here again. So close to Penn State University with a lot of restaurant choices as well.
Met all requirements, was clean and convenient. I hate that you have to write two hundred characters to be able to post so Im just going to keep typing. Im only on One Hundred Eighty-Six. Finally - I'm done.
The hotel looks nice. The room was clean (except for a big stain on the blanket). The breakfast was above average for this type of hotel. Weird problems...we stayed in room 225. The wifi didn't work in all areas of the room. I had to stand in the corner to get a signal. Tried different devices with no luck. Asked at the front desk and they said they would reset it. Don't know if they did. No change if they did. Another weird thing, the light switch in the bathroom does not work unless the light in the hall is turned on. Tried many things but it was just odd. With small child, you end up going to the bathroom in the dark in order to not wake her. Finally, our room was not cleaned the first day. We were gone all day, but it didn't get cleaned. When I called down to the desk to get clean towels, I told them our room hadn't been cleaned. An apology would have been nice. Nothing. It would have been easy to say "sorry about that" but nope. People make mistakes (housekeeping missed us) but good customer service means you say "you're sorry."
Great stay with you once again. On our way home from Fallingwater. Went shopping at Rapid Transit Sports for shoes. We felt very welcomed and received an upgraded room. Everything was perfect! Thank you to your courteous staff.
Wonderful hotel. Large breakfast, friendly and service oriented staff. Would stay again! The attendants and housekeeping are so hardworking and caring. Very conscientious and know what's important to guests!
Awesome spot. Huge room Great visit Stayed for drop off weekend at Penn State. Close to campus, clean with friendly staff. We've stayed several times and this visit was no different I'll stay here any time there's availability.
Have stayed at the Best Western previously for Admitted Student day, Orientation at Penn State and now for move-in. Front desk is very friendly and check-in is very easy. The carpets in the lobby and hallways are showing signs of age but other than that the hotel is clean. We were in a Qn/Qn suite this stay. Room and bathroom were clean and beds were comfortable. Like most of the hotels in the area during peak weekends at Penn State the rates are higher than I think they should be but the Best Western is usually one of the more reasonable ones and it is a nice stay.
We stayed here Aug 17th for one night enroute home as we were travelling from Washington DC. No complaints whatsoever. Clean rooms, bathrooms were a good size, and the breakfast was amazing. Staff very polite and friendly and was happy to return the favour then and now. I do indeed recommend it.
Nice, quiet hotel, very close to Penn State sports venues and open houses. Great comprehensive breakfast (including waffles) and nice pool. We were basically walk-ins after having to leave another hotel, but the people at the front desk (TJ and Emily) were very welcoming, helpful with directions and worked with us to get a good rate. The room was large, comfortable and clean (although the bathroom was showing a bit of wear). The public areas of the hotel are beautiful and upscale, plus there are a lot of places to gather if you have a large group. I wish we had been able to stay longer. The front desk staff told us that they offer a discount for Penn State families, but you must call the hotel directly to reserve.
Kind of tough to describe but, the room was a little bigger and cleaner, the hotel and grounds were cleaner and better kept. The standard breakfast was better due to the gentleman "in charge". We've stayed at a lot of similar-type hotels and this one was just a little better in many ways. The one review mentioned no maid service, but there was a card that you hung on your door asking for full, half or no service. I don't know if this was the problem. My only complaint was the bathroom faucet - it was too small. It made even washing your hands difficult. I would stay here again.
this hotel was close enough to PSU to enjoy festivities but far enough away to gain quiet space. Very courteous staff. Front desk and breakfast staff went out of their way to make sure that we were taken care of.
Made reservations through BW app. Upon check-in, discovered the information in the app and email confirmation did not match the on-site hotel's system which meant we were short an entire room on graduation weekend. Two of the employees were thoughtful and empathetic (Emilie and TJ). However, Denny, the front desk supervisor, was both rude, arrogant and dishonest at both check-in and check-out. There is no way we will ever stay at this hotel again. In addition, the rooms were not clean (nail clippings on the floor, broken shelves in the shower, mildewy smell, disgusting odor in fridge, etc.).
The room was large and very nice. The breakfast was very good each morning. We didn't have maid service the second day. Our room simply wasn't on the list to be made up so we needed to ask for new towels, shampoo, etc.
I didn't see Elisa, it looks like staff are changing. Elisa makes sure we are always satisfied. I hope she's still employed there. She is part of the reason I choose this location Closed to stores, and restaurants
This place is clean and comfortable. The staff is very attentive, especially Ben who does the breakfast service. He offers help in finding breakfast items and even comes around to the tables offering coffee refills. He should train other hotels how to really shine with great hospitality. I cannot give him adequate praise.
Easy, friendly check in. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Close to our destination of Penns Cave. Breakfast was fabulous. Staff were all very friendly. We were a 3 generation family of 10 staying for a night, before driving all the way back to Michigan.
Nice, clean hotel, the room was comfortable for four of us. Close to Penn State, which was great as we were there for a college visit/ open house. Good breakfast with plenty of options, waffles, eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful with our needs. The included breakfast had many options and was very good. It was a wonderful place to stay, highly recommend.
We visited the psu campus and surrounding area on our way home from a camping trip. We were able to park our rv in the back lot and enjoy the area knowing it was safe. Room was a double queen suite that was clean and roomy. Pool and spa was refreshing with easy access to our rv parked out back.
The staff was phenomenal! They were so kind, courteous and helpful. My teenage kids remarked several times about how nice they were! The room was comfortable, the amenities were great. But the pleasantness of the staff really made it stand out!
Overall experience was great, however a few areas were a bit disappointing, the pool was dirty. There was a film on the steps and the bottom of the pool, it needed attention, the chemical readings were probably off. The lobby and hallways had a strange odor, almost smelled like wet dog. The room did not smell, maybe the odor was due to the high humidity and high temperatures. The breakfast was good and the location was great, just a few things need to be worked out.
First, this is much more than what you expect a typical Best Western to be - modern, immaculate, comfortable, quite. But the staff takes the cake - first rate service from management to the breakfast crew always will to make anything happen, even long before the promoted 6am start. My go to hotel in State College!
We really love our stay here. Looking forward to the renovation so that my back doesn't hurt from the terrible beds. Been in the food court is fabulous. The front staff people are outstanding and the housekeeping people are wonderful. A shout to Erin who is just wonderful. And hopefully with these Renovations comes water pressure.
Excellent as always. Whenever we visit Penn State we always stay at this location! Super clean, great free breakfast and accommodating staff. Now that our son is starting as a student at PSU in the Fall you'll b seeing us more frequently!!! Thank you! Pam and Ross K :)
The Best Western was perfect for a family vacation with young children. The rooms were clean and comfortable; the staff was helpful and friendly; the pool and hot tub were small but well maintained; and the breakfast buffet was more than adequate. This hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the heart of State College, and is located right near the highway entrance and is convenient to several restaurants and stores. My only complaint is that the walls are pretty thin, such that we heard stomping and noise from the rooms above and next to us well after our daughter's bed time. So you may want to put a white noise app on your phone or bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Overall this is a great choice for a reasonably priced hotel in State College.
Great experience. Slept well, friendly staff, super clean, and great breakfast. Definitely raised my opinion. Will look to stay in BW again. Reservation staff was very helpful especially with my late check in.
One of the nicest Best Westerns I have stayed at. Very Clean, breakfast was very good. One staffer in particular went out of his way to make sure guests were getting a good start on their day with a good breakfast in a clean eating area. He even walked around the room refreshing coffee, and was quick to clean and clear tables when they were vacated.
One of the nicest hotels I've been to. Breakfast was amazing and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The Staff is friendly and accommodating. Located near the interstate, restaurants and shopping.
Very Welcoming experience, and check out by the same smiling lady. Large Lovely Room - comfy bed, nice, new look & feel. Wonderful Breakfast, Ben was the Best of any place I've ever stayed. Fast, efficient, caring, responsive to everyone's needs. Over and above the usual.
The hotel is very nice in terms of amenities, cleanliness and located in the scenic backdrop State College PA city. Rooms are spacious and provides you nice view of the city from the room. The breakfast was having good variety and lastly the staff was courteous and helpful in resolving queries.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Pleasant place to stay.. We stayed in two different rooms in different nights and were equally pleased with them. This is not a terribly exciting place, but it offers solid comfort and value.
I previously stayed at this property when it had just recently opened and found it very nice. The front desk staff was very welcoming and thanked me for choosing their hotel and the rooms were spotless. Fast forward a bit over a year, and I can honestly say this property doesn't seem to have been kept up very well. The carpets are stained in the hallways and room, tiles were cracked in the bathroom, the sofa in my room was so caved in you couldn't comfortably sit on it, and the refrigerator's freezer compartment was leaking water. The breakfast was mediocre at best, as they were out of many items (at 6:45 am!), the toaster only toasted on one side, the yogurt machine wasn't working, there was just a 1/2 full, very small container of fresh fruit available, and the eggs were barely warm. The coffee was quite good, however! We will definitely stay here again, as it's close to PSU, but I was a bit disappointed with the check in service and the overall condition of the property.
Nice hotel, breakfast is mediocre; staff are friendly. All hotels in this area price gouge during all Penn state events, this one included! This is a good hotel for its regular price; it is not, however, a $400/night resort hotel which is what they charge during parents weekend, etc. this should NOT be allowed; all hotels in the area get away with this!
Very nice and very clean facility with extremely courteous staff. I've never had a "bad" room, although I prefer to be on the higher floors (3 & 4). The only "down" side, which is beyond the hotel's control, is when the weather conditions are right for the fumes from a nearby sewage facility to come through, but this affects only the externals...
I stayed at BW for six nights owing to a philatelic conference and received a special rate as a result. Considering the rate, the BW was a great place to stay. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was fantastic and the room and bed were comfortable. My two complaints are that there is only one slow elevator - so waiting for it was common. The other was that the AC unit was noisy. Otherwise, a pleasant stay.
The staff was kind, hospitable and professional, but I will not be back... I hadn't stayed at a BW in 5 years and this reinforced the reasons why. First off there were Cheerios visible under the dresser. That should have been the first red flag. I finally decided to lay down for the night just after 23:00. The bed was so bad I literally could not sleep. I had a sunken spot and also a hard spot that was a majority of the old mattress and I actually lifted it to see if there was a board under it. As tired as I was, I tossed for two hours before going down at 01:30 to let the staff know. I told him I just wanted to leave and go somewhere that I could actually be able to sleep. He offered to half the price of the room. Seriously?!!! No I am leaving and going to a place where the bed was more comfortable than a slab of concrete! What an insult. It's like going to a restaurant, they burn the mid-rare steak you ordered and still asked you to pay for it. No thank you!
This was one of the best in the chain we have stayed in. Hotel was clean top to bottom, noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast was good they stayed on top of everything. All the staff was very friendly. Beds could have been a little softer very firm.
This hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and approachable, neat pool . . . An enjoyable place to stay! The included breakfast buffet was quite a spread with every type of breakfast item provided. A definite do-over!
Please was very clean, staff was friendly, breakfast was OK nothing fantastic. It was closest Best Western to the Scocia Shooting Range. Plenty of parking when I was there on a Friday night. As before breakfast was OK everything was hot.
This was our first time staying at this hotel. Registration was prompt and courteous. Our room was comfortable, spacious, with plenty of seating. Bath towel size was more than ample. You could hear folks in the room above us walking across the floor. Complimentary breakfast has all the usual foods. Plenty to select. The yogurt machine was not working so the only option was the sweet gelatin cups. As is expected with the toasters at all hotels, bread needs to be in the toaster three cycles on the highest setting to result in a slight tan on the toast. Cheerful, pleasant staff and clean facility.
I have stayed at this Best Western for business on many occasions and is my preferred choice due to the quality of the staff and the comfort of the rooms. The facility is well located to all State College has to offer.
Room was clean and comfortable. The Lobby was nice and clean as well. Everything felt very welcoming and the lady at the desk went out of her way to help me a couple of times even bringing things to the room and showing me how the shower worked. 10/10 will return.
We had an evening event at the university so we decided to stay one night and make the 3 hour trip home in the morning. We may as well have just driven straight home because we got no sleep at this hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and could hear every footstep, drawers and doors closing, and the toilet flush from the room above us. Most hotels have issues with thin walls but this was by far the worst we have ever experienced. We will stay elsewhere in the future.
This hotel is always classy and well-kept. The staff is friendly and the rooms are perfect! It is close to everything and it is very quiet. Breakfast is great in the morning and is offered long enough for even those who are on business that may want to sleep in a little.
Great place, great price, easy access to all of Penn State. Rooms are new, staff helpful. Near Nittany Mall. Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwowwwwwww. Great stuff. Need to make the comment field smaller. 200 characters is crazy
Hotel staff were very nice, breakfast was awesome and delicious, room was great. We really enjoyed the Jacuzzi and pool. I can't say enough about how nice this place is. We have already decided that if we return to State College for anything we will be staying here.
Great hotel close to Penn State. Easily accessible to State College, Bellfont and surrounding areas. Facility and rooms are always clean when we stay here. Great breakfast in the morning! Kids love the waffles. Movie Theater right next door for additional entertainment.
I stayed at this hotel a few times now and its always very clean. Front desk attendees are very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is close to the stadium. Enjoyed the free breakfast each day. Had many more food options then the norm. There was a small indoor pool and hot tub. The only issue I had was that they host small meetings and it appears the meeting attendees congregate in the hotel lobby area and it becomes over crowded and hard to navigate this area.
I've been staying at Best Westerns for business and personal trips. They have all been generally good, but some are better than others. The outside of the State College BW looks bright and updated, but some of the interior features are a bit outdated and not up to the standards that I typically experience. The Hotel staff and Desk personnel were all very professional and helpful. The room decor on the second floor King suite style room was generally clean and okay, but the walls between rooms were not insulated. Both my wife and I were wakened during the night by snoring from the next room. There was also a very loud HVAC system duct at the end of the hallway that we could hear inside our room, and we were half way down the hall. The desk staff stated that they were going to be remodeling the building and would try to address the issues. The continental breakfast and host were very good.
I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Unversity Park Inn & Suites for Penn State's Blue and White game. I had a pleasurable stay. All the staff members were so friendly, one even called me before my arrival to let me know a package I had shipped to the hotel had arrived. I appreciated the effort. Our room was very clean and large. The temperature was easily controlled to our liking. The breakfast was a very nice perk. Although I did not use the pool, hot tub or gym they looked clean and up to date. There was plenty of parking and the hotel was a few miles off campus so away from the craziness. I would definitely stay there again.
Perfect hotel stay! The only disappointment was that the pool was closed. Otherwise, the hotel was clean and spacious, we loved our stay! We came for spring break Blue and White weekend, my girls asked to stay at the Best Western Plus every time we visit PENN State!
Six families all at same hotel. Children loved pool. Great accommodations. Use of common area to gather and hang out was great. Location was perfect. Close to restaurants and next door to movie theaterWill be back next year. We Are...
The photos must have been taken years ago because the rooms have a lot more wear and tear than we imagined when we booked our stay. We had a "suite" with two queens and a sofa bed. The two queens' mattresses were so old they sagged in the middle, turning them into hammocks. The sofa bed's mattress was so thin that you could actually see the springs poking though. The staff didn't seem too concerned so we wound up getting an additional room for our daughters across the hall. Breakfast is fine, your typical continental fare. The gym looked to have decent equipment although I opted to run two miles down the road to the prison (true story) and imagine that the inmates had better beds to sleep on. Penn State is a ten minute drive away. We will be looking at the Hilton Garden which is closer to the campus, looks to be newer, and just a little bit more money.
We arrived at 9am after a four hour drive and, even though the earliest we could check in was 1pm, the friendly young lady at the desk offered us a free breakfast. That was greatly appreciated, The young man in charge of the breakfast area was extremely friendly and helpful. What a great group of folks at this hotel!
12 families were able to enjoy a nice weekend and get all the amenities they needed. staff was available at any time of the day or night to get extra blankets, help with questions and take care of us. there was no waiting. hotel was clean and what I expected (I am very picky). there was no smell of smoke anywhere in the hotel - VERY IMPORTANT to me and my wife.
I stayed at the Best Western at State College for a work conference at a near by facility. Check in was easy, the desk clerk and breakfast staff were very helpful and nice. The room was clean and updated. The breakfast was good and had a large variety of offerings. But most of all, the hotel was quiet.
After an average-at-best stay a week earlier at another BW in the State College area, my stay at this BW+ was much different, and much better. This facility appears to be relatively new, and it is beautiful inside and out. I still am not a fan of the 4 smaller pillows on the bed instead of 2 large ones. But the room itself was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the stay. The breakfast was excellent, with many options available. I will definitely keep this location on my short list of places to stay for my future trips to State College.
We've stayed at this location several times. Beds and pillows are extremely comfy! Always very clean. Great coffee and breakfast. Staff is always friendly. Lots of great restaurants close by. Price is reasonable.
We always enjoy staying at this hotel. It is off the beaten path from the campus, yet not too far. It is always clean and the staff are always helpful. The hot tub is always nice and not way too hot like other places.
This is a great location, a little off the beaten path, but not too far, which is great during big events up there. The staff is friendly and helpful. I used the hot tub and weight room, which are both nice. I will stay there again :)
A stopover on our way from Outer Banks, NC to our home in Canada. It is a fabulous hotel. Great, comfortable room; very clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Large choice breakfast. Great fitness centre and pool with hot tub. Extremely polite, friendly staff.
This is the only place I stay when I am in town! Always enjoyable, never any problems. Staff always friendly & helpful. Hotel is very close to all things Happy Valley but also far enough away that you can get some calm, down time as well!
Our suite was ready early for checkin. Room very clean. Breakfast staff Ben went above & beyond to make us feel welcome and filling food items even when after 10 am. Pool area nice and all staff front desk, housekeeping and breakfast area all friendly. Only negative is couch in suites needs replaced pretty uncomfortable to sleep on.
On a weekend that means so much to our family it meant a lot to be in a nice clean hotel with caring employee s ! Can not thank the staff and everyone at The Best Western Plus in State College enough !
Was exactly as expected. Clean hotel, good amenities. Breakfast was good, though the room is a bit small if the hotel is full. Just be there early. Room was spacious and there were no problems. Staff was very friendly. Only possible drawback that did not affect us. I do not think I would want to stay at the south end of the second floor where the HVAC fan was quite loud. It did not bother us halfway down the hall.
Very clean and well kept property. Breakfast had variety with different hot and cold foods. Employees that I talked with were professional and friendly. I liked the exercise options of resistance machine, bike and elliptical, and pool.
Visiting daughter at PSU. This is my 3rd visit here and I will continue to use hotel. Close enough, but not in town. Very clean, great breakfast. My family and I will continue to use this hotel on our visits. Thx again.
Very impressed with the hotels cleanliness and friendly staff. Rooms were large and spacious. My only complaint were the thin walls. You can hear everything above you and next to you. I was grateful there were no late night revelers.
This hotel attracts a rough set of guests that does not make a single woman traveling alone feel comfortable. The furniture in the hotel is subpar compared to other, cheaper hotels in the area. In a pinch, I would stay there again but until then, I will not be returning. The walls are very thin and the heating system was struggling during the cold weather. I would have had a horrible night sleep if I had not brought my own blanket.
I enjoyed my stay. The room as large, it would be nice place for a extended stay for work. Good fitness center (no free weighed if your into that). The poll was small, but big enough for child's to enjoy. I would stay here again.
Everything was nice! Kind checkin and checkout. Clean with every amenity imaginable. Nice breakfast the next day. Fair price. I even was given a complimentary beverage at check-in. The room thermostat was a little confusing but everything else couldn't have been better!
We stayed here 1 night for graduation. The hotel is very clean! We had 2 beds in our room. They were comfortable. The room was clean and we loved having a chair to sit in as well to relax. We used the pool which was great! The hot tub was relaxing! Breakfast was probably the best I've seen at a hotel. It was kept well stocked and clean. Lots of options. I highly recommend this hotel! It's only 8 minutes from Penn State campus. It's near the Nittany Mall.
From our arrival to departure th staff was helpful and friendly. The entire facility was spotless clean. The breakfast options were plentiful. I do suggest that the room coffee be changed as we both found the Wolfgang Puck brand to be undrinkble, even with bottled water.
This hotel is newer, well cared for,and in an excellent location. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The staff was friendly, and helpful. This was one of the nicer hotels we stayed in during our week long trip.
The quality of this hotel remains high, which is amazing considering how much weekend traffic it sees as a hotel in a Universoty town. The facilities are in good working order and the cleanliness is top notch. Keep up the great work!
Great stay: clean room, friendly staff, nice decor...loved the high ceilings. The only thing that seemed to detract were the boisterous football players pounding on their teammates doors before 7 A.M. which woke us up. Seemed inconsiderate, but of course, not the hotels fault.
Pulling up, easy to see it's a clean facility, pleasantly greeted as my member status, given a clean room, very comfortable bed and a quiet room. All the room furnishings looked acceptable. Good location.
Stayed here for one night for a meeting in State College. Arrived late (around midnight) desk staff was friendly and helpful. Went up to my room and couldn't open the door. Went back down to the desk dragging my bag and the desk clerk said “oh yeah we have a lot of trouble with that door”. He accompanied me upstairs and he played with the door until he got it opened. Same scenario in the morning. I had to get the desk staff to come up and open the door. Not very convenient. After a long day I got a shower which was nice and laid in bed. The mattress was junk. There was a huge divot in the mattress that made sleeping incredibly uncomfortable. The only saving grace was breakfast was plentiful and pretty tasty
This was a nice place to stay with a family. The rooms were clean and there was a decent breakfast. We stayed here for a Penn State game and I didn't really like being so far away from State College. It felt isolated. It was over $500 a night for this stay so I expected a little more than what we got - more breakfast items, two sinks in the room, maybe a sleeper sofa and a real coffee pot would have been nice.
Helpful staff, nice self service beverages like tea, coffee, milk in lobby 24X7, good breakfast buffet selection and helpful good prep staff. Room clean but a little musty, but housekeeping ready to freshen the air with a Fabrezing. Not luxurious, but nice sized beds, fridge in room for guest use, not stocked with expensive snacks. Parking good, easy to get space close to entrance.
Excellent stay. We went to the Elton John concert and spent the night at this hotel. It was great. My husband was pleased with the breakfast. Also pleased that the shirt he left in the room was returned so quickly.
My family and I stayed from the home opener of the football season for 2 nights. Hotel was good and one of the nicest best westerns I have stayed at. They were not prepared for the full house they had however. Breakfast was slim pickings due to only having one person working and not able to keep food coming for the numerous people coming down for breakfast. The food we did have was good though, especially the waffle you can make yourself! Overall good experience but definitely could use some improvements
First time staying here. Hotel and rooms were clean. Pool and hot tub were good. Breakfast was great. The guy in charge of breakfast was fantastic, if he wasn't refilling food he was making sure the area was cleaned. Friendly staff. Overall great experience. Will be back again.
We regularly stay at this hotel when visiting family in the area. Friendly and accommodating staff, clean room, nice pool and exercise room, very good complimentary breakfast. Easy to adjust room temperature. Only negative is sounds from rooms upstairs, next door, and out in the hall are heard in your room, but if you keep a fan blowing at all times it's not an issue. Good hotel for the price. We will stay here again.
We had a delightful stay here. The rooms were clean, beds were incredibly comfortable, breakfast was always good. Less than five mike drive to campus, surrounded by great food options and enough off the beaten track to not be caught in the rush of it all. Highly recommend. Our room was just a bit dark as two of the lights didn't work.
Did not have a reservation on a Saturday night but the young man at the front desk was exceptional. I was lucky there was a room available and he asked what floor I'd like and he suggested the 2nd floor at the end of the hall as it would be quieter. Nice, clean room and comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was nothing special but they had a good variety to offer. Will stay here
This hotel was fantastic. Lobby is beautiful. Rooms are very nice and super clean. The beds were very comfortable and the pool and hot tub are small but nice. The breakfast was great even for me who hates breakfast usually. They have good coffee, Tazo teas, yogurt bar, waffles, eggs, etc. I was very impressed overall.
We always look forward to staying at this hotel. It is our favorite Best Western to date. The room is always so clean and very roomy. The kids love the pool area. This is our second year staying here for the Grange Fair and we are already planning next years stay.
My daughter and I stayed here one night on our way home from vacation. The hotel was spacious, clean, well decorated and had friendly, helpful staff. The room was very up to date and clean. We had a nice sized mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom was very nice and clean with nice smelling soap. The lighting was good and the counters appeared to be granite (or faux granite). I appreciated the magnified mirror for putting on my eye makeup and the special dark towel for washing off makeup. The beds were comfortable. My only complaint is that the people above us (we were on the 3rd floor) were walking very heavily and a quite often on our ceiling until well after midnight. Other than that the hotel was quiet. It was perfect for our one night stay. The breakfast area was roomy compared to many I have experienced. The attendant was friendly and kept everything clean and well stocked. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.
We stayed the night before visiting Penn State, and it was perfect for that. Turns out, plenty of other lodgers were also visiting, and the complimentary breakfast made conversation amongst travelers quite easy. Everyone was friendly and chatty. Room was clean (although the door was quite tricky and did NOT want to open!), with plenty of space for all of us to spread out. Bathroom and vanity were all in one place, but everything was clean and functioning. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. We'd definitely stay there again when in the neighborhood.
This hotel is away from the noise and clamor of downtown but a five minute drive to Penn State or anywhere else you'd probably need to get to on a business or pleasure trip. The room was spacious and had a microwave and refrigerator. Also offered a free full breakfast in the morning. If you're planning a business trip to State College you'd be wise to look into this hotel.
It was a short drive to the PSU campus from this new hotel. It's close to lots of shoppers big and restaurants. Check in went smoothly. We found the hotel to be very clean and quiet. Our room was fantastic with a very comfortable bed. Spacious room with king bed. Breakfast was your standard fare but the dining room manager kept everything well stocked and promptly cleaned up any spills. Better than expected coffee.
Our room was pleasing, as was excellent breakfast. Location convenient to Penn State and State College restaurants. Our trip included reconnaissance to check out Trough Creek State Park and Raystown Lake, both within an hour or so of the hotel. Other state parks in the area include Black Moshannon, Bald Eagle, Reed's Gap and Poe's Valley.
Everything about our stay was great! Friendly staff, a spacious room with a comfortable bed, refrigerator & microwave. The hot tub & pool were relaxing. Best breakfast I've had at a hotel. Eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, toppings for oatmeal, yogurt...and so much more. Affordable and I definitely recommend!!!
This was overall a great place. We are a part of the rewards program, so upon entering we received a gift bag with some goodies in it; a pleasant surprise! Our room was very clean and spacious. Our room was equipped with all the usual amenities, as well as a little kitchen area with a counter, microwave, and fridge. We also had a living area with a sofa, chair, and coffee table. We had a large screen HDTV which was also nice. The bed was very comfortable and extra pillows were in the closet if needed. The hotel is energy efficient, and it was nice that the air/fan didn't run all night. The only issue I had (and this is by no means a complaint) was in the bathroom. The shower head couldn't be pushed down, so the water went to the very back of the shower/bath. Breakfast was great. Lots of selections to choose from. My husband said they had the best Belgian Waffles he had every eaten. I really enjoyed the eggs and potatoes. They had any topping you could think of for each and every food they had. No complaints there!
As usual --- Great room, great staff, great breakfast and I earn points for my Best Western Awards account .... The staff even accommodated my request for a room near the elevator. Only problem --- I never got a wake-up call one morning !
I had to travel to Penn State for a work-related conference. I found the staff to be friendly, the location to be ideal, and the room to be comfortable. However, the breakfast was quite vile, even for hotel food. Would consider staying again, but will skip breakfast.
Very much enjoyed the breakfast. Many items to choose from and the staff was very friendly. Hotel was clean. The only problem that was not resolved was the air conditioning unit for the one end of the hallway. Was very noisy. Was told there was nothing they could do about it. This was the only thing that holds it back from a 5. Easy access to mall, restaurants and food shopping.
We loved this out of the way, quiet setting. It was a great place to spend the night with an excellent breakfast the next morning. We also used the pool and hot tub. Our room was fabulous and bigger than we were accustomed to.
Convenient affordable hotel located 10 minutes away from Penn State University. Nice staff, clean rooms and pool; hot breakfast included. Comfy beds. Free parking. We had a nice, easy stay for a family of 4.
Everything was top notch! Best competitively, and very clean. Clean room, clean pool, clean common areas. Full Continental breakfast, other hotels in area can't compare. I would recommend to anyone in a hurry, this is the best option and affordable.
Room was comfortable, clean. Breakfast very good, sorry that I do not like Turkey bacon. Desk clerk on arrival suggested a restaurant for dinner (also listed in the room directory), that had been closed for over a month. Make sure staff are aware of changes in respect to restaurants. Helpful in giving directions.
As always, found this hotel to be comfortable, clean and welcoming. Staff was both welcoming on arrival and throughout my stay. Room was comfortable and housekeeping does a great job keeping rooms ready for guests. Staff also does a great job with breakfast
I enjoyed the hotel, just wish there was a Restaurant/Bar in it or next to it. Rooms were very clean and nice. The only problem I had was the room key not working on back door by pool and I had to walk around a couple of times.
This place seems to be fairly new. Room was very nice! The breakfast, that was included, was also very good. The staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. Don't have anything but a very good review of this hotel. Our stay here was made a bit more enjoyable knowing that we paid A LOT LESS than others who also attended the Happy Volley Tourney. We would stay here again: no question.
The hotel was beautiful and kept clean. The staff were very pleasant to deal with during the 4 days we were there. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. There are 2 items I wish to bring to your attention: 1) It's not only your hotel but really all hotels. I wish all hotels gave an option of soft or firm beds because as lovely as the hotel was by the 3rd night both of our backs were killing us and we were happy not to have to sleep another night on the soft bed. I know you can't please everyone but when you have a long drive home and you had 3 nights of tossing and turning it makes for a very long drive. 2nd: We checked in on Friday and only on Sunday did we ask for fresh clean towels and we left the other wet dirty towels on the floor to be taken out. When I took a shower on Monday and I reached for what I thought would be a
The hotel is fairly new and offers amenities such as indoor pool, jacuzzi, free breakfast, and wifi. The hotel is very eco-friendly. The bathroom needed a few repairs. The hot water faucet wouldn't shut off. The ceiling was recently repaired yet there was a need for patching the plaster and paint. The faucet was repaired the next day.
Good location right of I 99 and close to the mall, walmart, and restaurants. The staff were really friendly and efficient. It was an excellent value compared to other local hotels. The continental breakfast was also very good.
This is a Lovely motel. The rooms are Clean and Comfortable. There is a Wonderful breakfast. The Staff is very pleasant and helpful. I'll stay here again. After a long days drive it was so pleasant to walk in and feel so welcomed and have such an inviting room.
I have to say this is on of the best Best Western hotel I stayed in in PA. Very friendly staff, very clean hotel, great location for Penn State visitors or contractors and priced very fair. I will definitely be back.
Honestly, the rooms here are better than the Nittany Lion Inn. We had 2 queen beds and plenty of room for 3 of us to spread out. Bathroom was very clean too. Beds are very comfortable. We all slept great. Service was terrific. Side note - Coffee isn't so good (I am a fan of strong coffee) and the breakfast choices not as good as the Hampton Inn.
I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and always a good experience. Always clean and staff are great. A bonus is there is a movie theater next door and a Sheetz and Sam's Club nearby. I enjoy the secluded feel but so close to things. Breakfast is good too!
Very clean, almost new, and with a friendly staff. Close to all the state college events but without the claustrophobia. The hotel is a short distance along Shiloh Rd, exiting off I-99. The Nittany Mall is nearby. Sheets is within walking distance for a quick gas up and caffeine recharge before hitting the road. It was a little pricey for the venue, but it was Blue and White Game / Paterno Run weekend. Stay with confidence.
everything at this location was clean and well managed. I had a wonderful stay here and would definitely recommend it. It also seems that in order to leave a review, you need to write a minimum of two hundred words... I think you may want to leave that open to the person writing the review. This isn't a college essay exam.
The location and staff were excellent. We would stay at this hotel again. The food for breakfast was good. The kids had a great time in the pool. The room was clean. We had an issue with the TV and it was looked into quickly by the staff.
We came in town for the Soap Box Derby races. Our room was clean with plenty of space. I loved that the queen suite had the pull out couch option. My kids enjoyed the pool and the free breakfast. Staff was kind and very helpful. Great location too.
We stayed here last week while visited our children who are students at Penn State. We have stayed at this property more than ten times, as we are Diamond Select members, and always have points to spend. I must say that this past time was our best stay ever! First, we were welcomed by Samantha at the front desk with "I see that you are Diamond Select members..we want to thank you very much for your patronage!" This was the first time ever at this property that we were recognized as such, and we appreciated it. Another "first" at this property was that Samantha had a suite available, which she offered to us..double bonus! Thanks! We always request an upper floor room, but usually never get one. This time Samantha saw our request and we got a 4th floor (top) room. And the room was spotless too. Our last few stays at this property besides this one have not been great. In fact, we stayed elsewhere while in the area because of the condition of our room, and the fact that our requests were never recognized. This stay put our faith back in not only Best Western, but State College hotels as well. We will be back, and big shout out to the professionalism of Samantha!
The appearance, service, staff , ammenities and breakfast , all make for a very satisfying and enjoyable stay! The breakfast bar has everything you can imagine and it was very tasty. The room was very clean and quiet. I will most deffinately stay there again!!
Manager was very welcoming & desirous of making guests feel at home. She asked all the right questions to satisfy my wife's handicap requirements. She also gave tips on the advantage/disadvantage for the rooms that ae were considering, where to park closest to iur room, etc.
Great place to have group stays. Convenient to PSU and shopping and restaurants. Staff was accommodating and offered the conference room for our group as we exceeded the seating in the lobby/breakfast area.
In this day and age, it is next to impossible to find the level of customer service we experienced at Best Western Plus. Our check in person, Samantha, was so helpful in sorting out and handling our complication (mistake on our end). She was such a pleasure and totally competent. She saved us time and money, not to mention stress. We had a lovely stay overnight. I will only be using this hotel to visit with our Penn State daughter moving forward.
This hotel is convenient to were I travel for work so I always stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location is also within walking distance to the mall and a couple of restaurants. Easy check in and the guy at the desk was friendly.
I love this hotel. It was our second stay here. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed. Love the Bath and Body Works amenities! The breakfast was good and plentiful. The hotel staff is friendly and professional. My biggest complaint was noise! We were right beside the stairwell and could hear everybody talking on the steps, in the hall and the door slamming all night long. Plus, unfortunately, we were under people who kept making lots of noise until about 2:00 am. Called the front desk to ask them to be a bit quieter and nothing changed. I honestly don't think the front desk called them at all. Considering nobody in our room (there were three of us) got a good nights rest, I cannot give the hotel a five star review. That's a shame, because other than the noise, they deserve it.
The staff was very nice and accommodating, the rooms were clean & comfortable. It is in a nice location, close to restaurants and shopping and only a short drive to campus. Very easy to get around. Would stay here again when in the area.
The property is very close to my daughter who attends Penn State, I was a little surprised by the price! Nice, clean hotel. Great location near the school easy access to main roads and expressway, nice amenities that we did not use.
I took my daughter to a concert at the Bryce Jordan Center, it was close and convenient. They allowed me to use reward points, so that was a bonus! The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly! We did not have breakfast, but it is included. I would stay here again...
Parking lots were not cleared of ice, especially in the handicap parking area. Since I just had a knee replacement, I am very cognizant of safety. The bathroom floor is ice cold, too! Good location and easy to find. Aside from the safety issue, it is fine.
Everything was great and all staff were very helpful for our meeting The meeting room was set up as requested and all orders for water and snacks were honored promptly. Good morning breakfast. Rooms were clean and ready for us when we arrived.
I stayed in the BW for two nights. When I checked in I was extremely tired from a long day.... I had a bad case of brain fog! The check-in was easy and the young woman who checked me in was so kind and patient! She suggested I park out back....offered to meet me at the back entrance with a luggage cart and even waited while I loaded it so she could help with the door. Very helpful. Within five minutes of checking into my room I locked myself out! The same woman was very kind and got me a new key immediately. My room was a single King room and for the most part was perfect. The only complaint I would make is that the ottoman for the chair was filthy. I laid a towel over it and one over the back of the chair. My bed was comfy, heating was perfect.... the hallway outside my room was pretty chilly. Breakfast was just fine.... the staff running breakfast was super friendly. Other staff that I interacted with were all very friendly and eager to help or answer questions.
We were upgraded to a suite which was much appreciated. Our room was large with king bed and a shorter divider wall that gave bed a bit of privacy from the couch - living room area. The bed was probably the most comfortable we have slept on in quite awhile while traveling. Room was very quiet and clean. The breakfast area was also one of the best we have seen at a Best Western. I particularly liked the big variety of fruit selections, and the muffins were the BEST! Everything was kept fresh and clean and the employee working was friendly & pleasant :) Will definitely be back when in the area next time!
I want to compliment the staff on being professional and welcoming. Its refreshing to see someone pay respect even late in the evening. I truly applaud his professionalism. There really should be an exhaust fan in the bathroom. All the moisture, as a result of taking a shower prohibits the use of the mirrors and breeds a lot of mold that would wreck a few day stay. I saw a vent but either there was a fan and it was broken or there was no fan at all.
We always stay here when visiting the area, at least twice a year. It is centrally located, clean, quiet and affordable. Breakfast is included, of course there is a waffle maker, gotta have that. I would recommend staying on the top floor, the 4th, but you might have to wait for the elevator, only one and housekeeping uses it also.
Stayed at this BW on 1/1/18 and was impressed with the location, staff and how clean it was. The layout, room, pool and gym were above average. It is right off 99 and just a couple exits from PSU. I was pleasantly surprised with this BW.
Overall a great place! We were there for our son's wedding. When they discovered my son was the groom, they upgraded his room! They gave us snacks and drinks to make up for the trashcan in our room not being empty upon arrival. They were pleasant and helpful. One problem. Cleaning staff entered our room Without Knocking while I was undressing. I assume she thought we had checked out already. Not a pleasant experience. Learned my lesson to lock doors at all times. Front desk took $20 off my bill for that mistake. I think a free stay would have been more appropriate for that kind of "mistake" Unacceptable! But otherwise I would recommend to friends to stay here. Just lock doors at all times!
The Best Western in State College has become our family's go to hotel when we visit Centre County. Place is always clean, staff is always friendly, and the location is convenient for everything. We have stayed there several times and have never been disappointed. Quality stay every time
We stayed with our 3 children aged 5 & under. The heated indoor pool was such a treat we all enjoyed! Complimentary breakfast did not disappoint - including gluten free options! Very friendly & helpful staff!
Ok hotel, room, pool and hot tub . I think the breakfast could be better quality. The money I paid I should have had better breakfast.the hotel is better than most. The sliding door to the closet was hard to open, the housing to the heater was loose.its a fairly new hotel and it already shows wear in the room, the hallways a very cold. I realize they did that to save money on heating.when you are walking from the pool to your room it is very very cold.
Hotel was clean, had friendly staff, and there were very good breakfast options (included with stay). Coffee was surprisingly good compared to most free hotel coffee, and was available 24 hours. Overall I felt that it was a good value for the location and quality of the hotel. It's about 15 minutes from Beaver Stadium, so not right on campus but close enough for me.
Not only did I have a great stay at the BW University Park but the staff went above and beyond to assist me when I encountered a vehicle problem. Angela, Patricia and Ben all did everything they could to help get me back on the road. As for my stay, I couldn't have found a more nice hotel. Everything was clean, room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning had a good selection of items. I will definately stay here again when I return to State College.
Really enjoyed the bedding. Very soft, which I especially like. Very friendly front desk staff. Only stayed for about 10 hours but very pleasant.arrived about 11 pm Thursday night and left by 9 am on Friday, to continue my travels. Just could not stay awake to travel safely.
My time at BW in State College was truly amazing. Breakfast room service as well as other amenities. So convenient and very close to airport Wal-Mart and gas station. I will be back be back Thank you.
We stayed here for two nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. The check-in staff and other hotel staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable as it was too hard which is why I am giving this hotel three stars rather than four. Another minor annoyance was there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom nor a stopper in the sink which made my husband's shaving process somewhat difficult. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which is typical of this type of hotel. It was well prepared and presented with lots of good choices. I really wish hotels would supply their rooms with a decent coffee maker and good coffee. The dinky little coffee maker supplied is a joke. I prefer to have my coffee before I have to interact with other humans.
I was there with my family for home coming weekend and our room was well appointed and clean and a very good breakfast was included. The staff was extremely friendly and overall it was an very good experience.
We were so pleased with our Best Western experience. Particularly, since it was a holiday weekend. The staff ready to help with any concerns. The breakfast (which is included in cost) was so plentiful and extra seating was arranged because of the amount of guests.
Outstanding place for the price. So clean, very well located, and very helpful staff. It even has a refrigerator. Also, the room is so spacious. It is also so close to Penn State and also many restaurants. Just a convenient place to stay.
We stayed here earlier this year when I had to go to the hospital there. We decided we would stay there again since it was close to where we needed to be and the cost was reasonable. The breakfast was very good.
Had to stay in Penn State to work for 2 days and stayed here. Hot tub was clean, pool was clean. Breakfast was filling, had everything you would want to eat. Thanks for a nice night. Bed was comfortable
Beautiful facility which was immaculatey clean! The entire staff was fantastic! Everyone was very helpful and accomodating! Special thanks to Craig for his State College hospitality and Donna Sue for the wonderful breakfast service both mornings of our stay! This was truly the BEST Best Western I have been to!! Thank you so much!! We can't wait to go back!!
There are not many real hotels in the state College area. Most of them are of this type or something like a Quality Inn or others of that level. Never having stayed at a Best Western before i was not sure what to expect. Ultimately, it was no better or worse than any of the other similar ones in the area - Quality Inn, Choice Hotels, etc. If you are not staying at the Nittany Lion Inn, the Hilton Garden Inn, or the New Hyatt Place then this hotel along with the others i mentioned are certainly fine. No problems.
Clean, comfortable rooms! Fresh smelling bedding that was plush. Towels were fluffy and clean. Breakfast was full! Eggs, waffles, bacon, hash browns, oatmeal, yogurt and more! So many options for am included breakfast!
Booked a double queen suite. Equipped with a microwave and fridge. Room was very clean and the hotel provides Bath and Body products. Hot/Cold breakfast was very good....eggs were actually warm and they have a microwave to warm anything up if needed. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again
room was clean, property well kept. Wi-fi worked just fine so I knew I would be returning to a nor'easter with 65mph winds. I was attending a stamp event at APS in Bellefonte. Hotel was conveniently located to Megabus in State College.
We won a stay through a silent auction. My two daughters and I used this as a girls night out, time together with a pool and hot tub! EVERYONE was so pleasant and helpful, from making the reservation to check in and out. Brittany, who was working the front desk, was so pleasant and made sure if to let us know if we had any problems or needed anything to please let her know. Room was very clean, beds and pillows were so comfy, breakfast was very good. Highly recommend if you are in the State College area!!!
The Best Western is a great value. Excellent hot breakfast. Very well maintained property, although the elevator made creaked and groaned a lot. Pleasant staff; very helpful. Clean comfortable rooms, although stains on carpet and ottoman. Excellent shower. Shower head was actually above my head; strong water pressure.
Zac at Front Desk was great and so was hotel. Sat. a.m. I called Front Desk. No answer. Stopped by front desk, no one there, phones ringing. Asked Housekeeping staff who was in area about Front Desk staff. She went looking. Five minutes later, a young lady appears, smelling like smoke. I asked her what time is mail picked up. She didn't know. Informed me about a mailbox outside. Walked outside. Didn't see mailbox. Again no one at Front Desk, Asked a Housekeeper to find her. Same lady appeared few mins. later.Told her I didn't see mailbox. She went outside with me and pointed it out. Housekeeper knocked on door at 11:40 a.m.. Check out is at 12 noon. We had Do not disturb sign on door. Why is she knocking? She never spoke to us in the hallway. When elevator door opened on 3rd fl., Housekeeper said "good morning". We usually leave a tip in room, but not yesterday. .
I always have a great stay at a good price at a Best Western. One of the best complimentary breakfasts there is for a chain hotel. The rooms are always clean and fresh and as big or larger than usually more expensive rooms found in other chain hotels for the price.
The staff went above and beyond for the customer! Angela was extremely helpful! Breakfast was excellent every day! Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would recommend again! Convenient to my place of work while there and close to the stores.
Hotel is a nice cookie cutter type of Best Western. Normally we rate places like this as 3 star but the employees are really a cut above and the place is located very close to campus and Penn State attractions. If we visited Happy Valley again this would be our go to place.
The hotel was close to town, clean and near Walmart and some other shopping for game day. We enjoyed the free breakfast and the hot tub. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would stay at this location again.
I haven't stayed in a Best Western for years because they did not really meet my standards. But I found this location in a coupon book at the Welcome Center, and when I saw the list of amenities, I decided to give it a try. The breakfast was fantastic; so was the indoor swimming pool (very warm) and the hot tub. The bedding was very nice, and the room amenities (sofa, desk, fridge, microwave) were a nice addition to the room. I would recommend this facility.
My kids had off school for a few days so we decided to stay here one night to use the pool and hang out. The room (queen suite) had plenty of space for our family of 5. The room and bathroom was very clean. My kids enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The fitness center was well equipped. Every staff member we encountered was friendly. The breakfast staff had smiles on their face and a good morning! for everyone. The breakfast offerings were just ok. Eggs, sausage and potatoes. There are make your own waffles (always a hit with my kids). We didn't try the pancakes but there was fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt and breads. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
I have been coming here for about four years, as I have children at Penn State. Having achieved Best Western's highest rewards level, Diamond Select, I have used my points for stays here. The last five visits have not been so great. Firstly, the points system seems messed up. It usually costs about 30,00 points per night for a football weekend (2 night minimum). But upon looking to book a regular Sunday night, it was 39,000 points. This is outrageous for a $100 per night rate. Even though I have the points for a free night, I would rather spend money to stay somewhere else rather than use this many points. Also, upon checking in, there is no special welcome for being a rewards member (no "thank you" or any type of recognition at all. We came to check in and were thirsty, and were charged $2 per bottle of water at the front desk. Other chains would give rewards members or other guests them to you for free, or have water available with the coffee in the lounge. I always request an upper floor when I reserve a room, and have not received this request once in the past two years. I was up all night by someone walking around nonstop in the room above me from midnight until 6am. The rooms are getting old. The carpets are stained and the wallpaper is peeling off the walls in the bathrooms. Mildew stains on the walls in the bath as well. The air conditioning is very loud. Light fixtures often do not work. Maid service is usually good however, as my bedding always seems to smell and appear clean. I like the coffee they have available for guests, but I do not eat the breakfast anymore because I prefer to go to the Waffle Shop instead. There are better hotels available in State College, but I will continue to come here to use my points if the points value is realistic.
Overall, very good. Liked beds and room was clean and everything operated well in room. Only criticism was that the eggs, ham potatoes were cold at breakfast. Coffee was good. Upon check in, the person at desk was very personable and offered a choice of rooms based on floor and quietness. We were pleased we could get a top floor with a quiet room.
The staff was really on top of things. Very clean and sharp property overall. Great experience. Asked for local restaurant recommendation and got one. Restaurant was very good. Property appears to be nearly new.
This is a very nice hotel. We stayed in an accessible room for people with disabilities for my sister and it was very accessible. I stayed in this same hotel some years ago and I remember the breakfast was a little more appealing, but other than that it was ok.
I stayed before taking my mother to the State College Airport. The room was clean and comfortable The staff where friendly and very helpful. They gave me directions to the airport and also recommended a restaurant that was open late in the area.
I always stay at this hotel when visiting my family in PA and attending PSU football games. Hotel is very nice for the price and conveniently located. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Great hotel for the price!
The staff at the front desk, and during the complimentary breakfast were excellent. Clean room and with a nice comfortable bed. It was a football weekend so the prices were higher, but that is expected. However, when you have a good experience like we did, it makes it a lot easier to pay the football weekend prices.
Very very clean everyone friendly and attentive. Beautiful campus and surroundings. Many varieties of items to eat at the breakfast buffet. I had a very quiet room during sleep and no sound at all from the HVAC system. Not like any hotel I've ever been to. The PA area was unbelievable and beautiful. People always friendly and helpful
My son was at South Health recovery after brain surgery. The staff were accommodating to my needs for the three weeks I was at the Best Western. The housekeepers were very thorough in cleaning my room. The continental breakfast was very good and helped me start my day. Dry-cleaning was available and the washer/dryer were free of charge. The location was very close to State College. All in all, it was a good place to feel safe and are for during the three weeks of my son's rehabilitation. Thank you!
Love the location! It is close to the so many different venues. Our room was very nice and bigger than I expected. It is also close to the highway. That is a big plus for me as I am the one usually drives..
Nice location out of town. Great rooms at great prices. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay outside of downtown college area. Easy walk to Quaker Steak. Close to mall and other bars/restaurants.
Breakfast could've provided better quality food and choices. Sausage, ham or some other breafast meat in addition to turkey bacon. English muffin to toast would've been nice as well. The Best Western here in Westminster MD had a chef making omelets the last time I stayed there and it was amazing! Very impressive and a delicious way to start the day. An English muffin to toast would've been nice as well.Otherwise very pleased. Best Western is my number one choice when traveling.
Again my husband and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Best Western. Everyone was very nice any helpful. Loved the location just off the freeway. Being a platinum member we have a lot of Inns to compare. Would come again if ever in the area.
Amazing how good this place was - I was not looking for a 4 star place. I mean this stay was over night so I can rest and shower and drive back home. Everything was great - and it was full hotel. I am coming back to this location - staff was good, and breakfast was ok - they have a high tec pancake maker - weird!! Great price with great service be careful - people might find out.....
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Bed was comfortable. Hotel and rooms very clean. Breakfast buffet was good and well stocked. Close to the PSU creamery for the best ice cream fix! Refrig in room had no freezer so couldn't stock any additional ice cream and the frig it's self was quite warm. No way to adjust so kept drinks on ice.
Love this spot! This is our second time for time Grange Fair staying here and we love it. We have two littles, 4 and 6, that enjoy the pool after a day a Grange. Everything is very clean. Breakfast is awesome! The Noon checkout is great as well. The staff are so quick and helpful, friendly and professional. Special shout out to Zac at the front desk. He really goes above and beyond. We look forward to next year's visit.
Beautiful place to stay. Lovely hotel and staff. Was told by staff member to check out Grange fair it was Awesome thanks for the tip. Will be back next year. Close to shop's and gas station just over road for easy fill up before exploring this area.
Marvelous, great hotel much better than your regular 4. Our room was large and spotlessly clean with every up-to-date amenity I have ever seen. I marvelled at the room-key-controlled electricity for the room that allows the hotel to be green and save on wasted energy. The climate control in the room was perfect. We never had to touch it. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows could have used more life/firmness. The bathroom includes a swinging makeup/shaving magnifier mirror that is a fantastic feature. Also notable are a separate navy blue makeup towel that allows the comfy bath and hand towels to stay white and last longer. thw ater was hot and the shower is nice. Included in the room rate (which is lower than comparable hotels in the area) is a hot self-serve breakfast with a wide variety, including waffles, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, meat and more. The pool was clean, the water temperature was perfect, and there was a hot tub. The exercise room is not huge but had, I think, four machines. The staff was tremendously friendly. The biggest negative to this hotel are the stains on the carpets in our room and throughout the hotel. The location is quiet and there is little within walking distance. A replacement of the stained carpets would raise my rating to a 5.
We have stayed here several times because our daughter attends PSU. Can not say anything bad about the place we have always had courteous service and a good and clean room - we will continue to come back...
Stayed overnight a few times. Always pleasant, accommodating staff. Rooms and hotel are very clean and updated. Free wi fi. Needed extra blankets and pillows. Staff came to our room right away to provide extra's.
Booked at last minute. Great rate and outstanding staff, clean, and quiet. Lots of places nearby to eat or shop. Of course a trip to Penn State creamery is always yummy. We also went to Penns Cave which I recommend too.
Great area, great room. Kids in room above us up way too late. Try to get a 4th floor room with no one above your head. We had to switch our room from the first floor to the 4th floor but had no issues doing so.
I hadn't stayed in a BW in years & had the impression they were outdated-not the case at all! This one was very clean & modern, comfortable bed/room, nice breakfast & extremely courteous & helpful staff. It's also a totally green hotel. I usually stay in downtown State College for the convenience to all the restaurants & shops but it's only a short drive away located right near Nittany Mall. I would definitely stay here again!
we got fantastic room, very nice super clean, well maintained and like brand new with a latest big branded tv . everything including sofa was immaculate. entire hotel was very good and nice. the breakfast was very good with lot of variety including eggs and waffles which kids loved. ample parking and just across big gas station , its was a great stay which we enjoyed.
During our stay, one staff member stated that all but 4 rooms have been booked that same night. It was good to see that the hotel staff was able to manage this large crowd even during breakfast. The staff were very friendly and made sure all our needs were met. We will definitely stay here again.
Stayed here this past weekend. Staff was very accommodating, helpful and overall nice. The room was spacious with mini fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The temperature control was great and worked better than most to keep the room at a constant temp. Hot breakfast was typical, although the kids loved the whipped cream and toppings they were able to put on their waffles. The pool was tiny and water was cloudy. Next morning the pool was closed because the chemicals were "off." We were at the end of the hallway and the AC in the hall was right outside our door. It was loud, but not enough to be disruptive to our time in the room. Location was close to the college - maybe a 10 minute drive. Would definitely stay here again.
I was expecting something a bit more modest and was surprised to see a very nice new modern Hotel with more than enough amenities, a competitive price, a very good continental breakfast and a friendly staff. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars, was my 3:30 am wake up from an alarm clock that apparently had not been reset. The front staff person was apologetic and did not make excuses, telling me that it was their fault for not resetting the alarm and he would speak with his manager in the morning to see what he could do for my inconvenience. Stuff happens and it shows a lot of Integrity when someone takes ownership of a mistake and doesn't try to shift some of the blame on the customer.
I have not stayed at a BW since I was a kid. Expecting a clean but tired decker, I was surprised and impressed by the updated style, super friendly staff and breakfast with more options then I expected, Rosemary potatoes...
Planned a trip to Penn State Arts Festival at the last minute. Ever place was booked. Settled for the Best Western. Was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Very clean. Professional staff. Good proximity to where we were going. Excellent morning breakfast. Couldn't ask for more out of that. Would definitely stay there again
We enjoyed our stay. Clean, kind and caring. Staff was extremely nice and friendly. The entire building is designed energy efficient, very cool. I especially like the soy milk and the PAPER plates, not Styrofoam. Thanks for that.
I liked everything about this hotel except the furniture needs some TLC. There were a lot of stains on our chair in the room and on the breakfast area chairs. If it wasn't for this, it would be a five star hotel!
This trip was primarily to see the State College Spikes play, but we really enjoy the area. The hotel is in a convenient location. The breakfast was good and was cheerfully served. It was available until 10:00 am and that was a bonus.
Stayed after Happy Valley Jam and was very happy. Rooms were clean and large. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was sufficient for light meal before heading home. Easy to get to/from campus in a quiet area. Recommend this hotel in State College
I have been staying at this Best Western Plus for the last five years, when I go up to the State College area for summer vacation and activities at the APS headquarters in nearby Bellefonte. I am always pleased with the hotel and will continue to stay there, whenever I go up to that area.
I recently had the opportunity of staying at the Best Western Plus University Park Inn & Suites while attending a conference locally. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to all of the major points of interest in the area. The hotel is very well kept and clean. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable for business or leisure travel. The swimming pool and whirlpool were a nice touch at the end of a long day. The breakfast area was well stocked with plenty of room. A very nice option if you are looking for a stay while in the area.
Excellent stay. The room was very clean and everything was in perfect order. The breakfast was delicious and there were many options for everyone. We used the pool and hot tub too. Great area to sit and unwind. The Front Desk personnel were also very helpful.
It is one of the best hotels that I ever stayed in. It was very clean and very updated. Very nice appearance inside and out. All the staff were very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was very good and layed out so nice.
Zac, the front desk guy was really good at helping me out. I was having issues with trying to figure the area out. I am from a small town in SD so coming to town was pretty different. He helped me figure out where I was going for my meetings and recommended someplaces to go to eat. Really appreciated the help, even if I did write the review after I got back for awhile.
Zac, the employee that checked us in, was inspiring. He kept a positive and friendly disposition despite the computer and tech support issues he was dealing with. He greeted us and the other guests, while on the phone trying to solve the tech problem. He was also very knowledgeable and thorough with the check in process. The hotel was clean, the room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable, but the breakfast was even better. We will definitely suggest this hotel to anyone looking in this area!
Great hotel, clean, excellent staff who care about your stay. There were a few nights that kids were having a good time in the halls, but that was shut down by the hotel staff around 10pm. The room has good internet, and a great desk to work at if needed.
We were 2 exhausted travelers and needed a place to stay. Being Friday the price was what we considered high for just a stop in a vacation trip. However, Zack was so charming, helpful, and a hard worker. He gave us info on other options and good places to eat. He was our deciding factor in staying. Breakfast was actually better than most continentals offered at hotels.
This hotel was one of the cleanest chain hotels I've stayed in. Didn't use any of the amenities, so I can't speak about them. Pool indoors and very small. Nice small seating area outside. Rates reasonable.
This stay was necessary to help our daughter and her girls prepare for their move upon her husband's graduation from PS. The BW was very close to their apartment and provided the necessary lodging after all the furniture was gone. The necessary cleaning was needed and after spending the day cleaning it was great to come back to a clean and very comfortable room. Everything was just great. Thanks for making our stay successful and very nice.
We used to stay at Best Western but they were getting old and tired.... but not this one!!! Fabulous property with all of the amenities. Breakfast is great, the hotel staff is great, the location is super great, the value for the room is great and if you like being Eco friendly so do they. The bathroom in the room we stayed was put together that made it functional.....but the design and construction is challenged. Bathroom notwithstanding, we will book this property when we come back even if it is out of our way.
Rooms are clean and spacious, staff very nice. Breakfast also very good for this type of hotel (self service breakfast - pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, etc.). Location is very close to some restaurants and a Sheetz gas station/convenience store and it's easy access to Penn State, football games, and the highway. It's great that rooms come with a small fridge.
We were in need of an overnight stay on our way back from Philadelphia to Toledo. They honored a coupon I had for the room. The room was very spacious with tall ceilings, large chair, plenty table room, microwave, bathroom was standard size. We had a first floor room near the lobby. The only complaint we had was the walls seemed thin, as the morning noise was very noticeable. Breakfast was good, staff was very accommodating. It appears they took great pride in cleanliness as there was a lot of staff in the morning cleaning various areas of the hotel. Would definitely stay again for the price and quality of the hotel!
Nice location, great staff, good value, quiet oasis to come back to during hectic Special Olympics schedule. Nice 24 hr coffee available, came in handy, plenty of food for breakfast available, nice kitchen staff too, would stay again in a heartbeat.
Both this one and BW in Gainsville Florida are fun but must select BW carefully as not all come up to the standards of these two. Run by different people so different attitudes. Arrived after 9 pm, the girl on the desk told us all about the area...had been flooded few months back, and explained about the university. A Denny's restaurant is attached and we had a decent meal there. Waitress took time to chat. Room was excellent, fantastic TV, the latest out there. Beds were fine. When we left a different girl gave us a map of the university...might be referred to as college. Great time. Thanks.
Stayed here over night while my son attended NSO at Penn State. Great location. Many restaurant options very close . Nittany mall few blocks away. Ten minute drive from campus . Very clean with great customer service . Nice complimentary breakfast .
The rooms are really nice and the staff is even nicer. I've stayed here several times in the last few months and have been please each time. It also has one of the nicest breakfasts as far as free hotel breakfasts go.
Good news: we arrived early and were able to check in early. Appreciated that and front desk staff very pleasant and helpful. Bed comfortable, room clean, but furniture shabby and upholstered pieces stained. Bad news: (1) bathroom door locked from outside repeatedly and required help from the desk in the form of a wire hanger to get in. (2) on the first morning of a two night stay bed was made but full trash cans in room and bathroom were not emptied, glasses and coffee cups not replaced, and wet towels not removed from bathroom. Called desk and a pleasant young woman appeared and took care of these things, but still... (3) complimentary ?? Breakfast minimally acceptable....powdered scrambled eggs, cold greasy potatoes. (4) in middle of first night both husband and I were awakened by repeated "stomping????" In room or hall above us. Will not return here.
Hotel was close enough to campus activities but far enough to avoid traffic and congestion in town. Staff was friendly, particularly lady who tended the breakfast room Sunday & Monday. All the food and beverages were plentiful, the area was very clean, and she prepared "to go" bags for anyone who requested them. Only complaint -- and a major one -- is the exorbitant room fee despite our reservations being made more than a year in advance.
Can't say enough from the minute we walked in this location was clean staff was caring in every aspect of our stay , pool and hot tube area was spotless our stay was for just a couple nights and had booked three rooms not one complaint for our party! Would stay again
This Best Western hotel in State College is the best hotel in all of the area, clean comfortable, great staff , great time. I have referred this hotel to friends and family when they visit Penn State.
always my first choice. convient and close to resturants and nice breakfast every day. highly reccommend this hotel. have been coming here for 5.5 years. everything is clean and up to date and the staff is great.
Very nice newer hotel. Large lobby area plenty of seating and very clean and only 5-8 years old. Very convenient if you're going to Penn State university for a game or just visiting the area probably only a seven minute drive from town and conveniently 10 minutes from I 80 interstate.
This is a lovely hotel - friendly staff, nice breakfast spread each morning, well designed, clean rooms, comfortable bed and centrally located. However, there were two big issues for me during this stay. The rooms are not well insulated and you can hear doors slamming, people talking, toilets flushing almost all night. Even with a noise cancellation app to help drown out the sounds I was unable to get a decent night's sleep both nights. The other issue was their wifi, it's very slow and often times I lost connectivity. Very frustrating. They really need to upgrade service.
Let me say firstly the staff that we dealt with were very friendly and helpful... Check in is at 3:00pm we arrived at 3:00pm and was told rooms were not cleaned and we would have to wait another 45 minutes. Finally got our room Internet was not working, tried calling the front desk 3 separate times, no answer The couch bed in our room was nasty the sheets were never cleaned (front desk was helpful and had house keeping go up right away) The beds were old and uncomfortable what made it worse was the room directly above us allowing their children to jump and bang on the floor at midnight We had no idea being out of state that the blue white game was going on. So the hotel was very loud, all hours of the night people running up and down the halls yelling. Walls are paper thin, you can here guest above your room taking a leak. Our next visit to this area we will not be staying at the best western plus
We booked 2 rooms here to celebrate our daughter's 17th birthday. The rooms were next to each other (no rooms are connecting though). Zach and Dave at the front desk were friendly and attentive. When we arrived it was their complimentary happy hour (which we were not expecting). Our rooms were very clean, looked newer and the entire place is very "green!" Breakfast was very good as well. The only problems we had were the wi-fi was slow in 1 of our rooms and there were a lot of little kids staying at the hotel during our stay. This is no fault of the hotel, but we could hear them running in the hallways.
Clean room, comfortable bed, filling breakfast. Helpful staff and front desk manager. The gas station across the street is open 24 hrs for gas and late night munches. Parking can be hard to find later in the evening. Good value for the money - would stay here again.
We had visited the hotel in October and had only one slight problem with noise. This time we stayed on the ground floor and had no issues. Our room was a nice size, the pool was very warm and the breakfast was excellent! It was nice to have fresh coffee and tea available all day and evening as well. We liked the location because there was a great variety of restaurants to meet our needs, all very close by, and the mall is directly across the street. The staff were all very helpful.
As nice as it was 2 years ago! Our favorite Best Western. The beds aren't great, but everything else makes it worth the stay for the price. Kids love the pool and breakfast was hot. We will likely return here.
Thanks for everything Dave and Zach you guys were great and very helpful. I look forward to staying there again in the future. I hope the next time it's not a business trip. I really like the area! Peace!
It had been a long exhausting day. This hotel was like an oasis. It was clean quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It brought tranquility to at the end of a busy day with I would definitely stay there again when in the area.
We made a last minute decision to go to the game and found this hotel on TripAdvisor. It was very nice, the staff was friendly and it was clean. We had a nice room on the third floor. Breakfast was included and it was fine. The pancake maker was anew one for me. Pancakes in a minute was a novelty. Sunday morning there was quite a bit of noise on our floor and you could hear the neighbors baby crying. Thin walls I guess. Nice location and good price. I would suggest more trash cans outside and in the lobby. We were looking for someplace to throw things out and had to hunt for a trash can. I would definitely recommend this place. The young man working the breakfast did a great job keeping up with the guests and refilling everything in a timely manner.
We just returned from a four day stay here and it exceeded our expectations! The hotel is clean and modern. The front desk clerk, David, was extremely helpful and friendly when we arrived on Thanksgiving! The location is terrific. Only 8 minutes to downtown Penn State, next door to the Premier Movie Theater, close to the Nittany Mall, Walmart, and many shopping venues and restaurants. The pool was clean and warm. Rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. Climate control in the room was spot on. We will definitely be staying here again!
The front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. This is conveniently located close to State College, but far enough away to not be right in town. There was plenty of parking. There are restaurants located close to the hotel.
The hotel and room were quite beautiful and comfortable. The internet service was difficult to get connected. Unfortunately, there was a terrible storm that caused a wide area power outage. The hotel staff did a good job and continued to provide hot water for a shower and a cold breakfast with hot coffee. The wake up service was not available though. I never received my invoice although the clerk promised to email it to me once the power was restored. The price was very reasonable for the value provided.
Pleasantly surprised by how close the hotel is to Mount Nittany Hospital (and a local mall was only minutes away). The room was fine but the breakfast was outstanding. The breakfast was impressive and the checkout was noon so I didn't have to get up extra early to be done with breakfast in time for an early checkout. We were very pleased with this hotel.
We stayed at this hotel during a recent football weekend and were very impressed with the facility and services. Typically when we visit State College, we try to stay as close to campus as possible so we can walk to downtown and sporting events easily. Since that wasn't available this time, we weren't sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at this hotel. We were lucky to be there on a weekend when the lobby had a great happy hour with snacks and free beer and wine--what a delight and really impressed us! The room was comfortable and clean. A positive for us was the microfridge so we could keep our drinks cold. We didn't spend too much time at the hotel, but while there, had no complaints. The complimentary breakfast was great. A more expansive offering than many hotels in the area, and I enjoyed the oatmeal. Great stay and a great PSU win made for a wonderful weekend!
Smaller rooms than usual for best western. REALLY tiny bath . Rough sheets . Clean pleasant enough though Friendly helpful staff . Near town . Basic breakfast . May not have been a BW at the beginning of its life as A hotel ?
We had hoped to arrive in State College earlier in the evening to locate lodging. It was a bit after dark when we spotted this BW location from the highway. We quickly turned in and found the hotel to be a great place to stop for the night. The rates were reasonable. Great front office staff. The room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. Very nice buffet breakfast. We were well positioned to drive a few miles back to spend some time in Bellefonte, Pa., a hugely historical and beautiful spot. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Just outside of PSU campus. Smaller than most best westerns, a good buffet breakfast is inc. 4 th floor room (suite) toward the end of the hall (away from the elevator) was comfortable. Restaurants, stores, highways in close proximity!
I am a local who was recently getting repairs done on my house and had to pick somewhere close to home. Perfect distance to runback to my torn apart house in pleasant gap to work in state college. Although computer systems were down,- lady (I think Amanda or Mandy or candy) was the best! I had to be re imbursed for my time at a hotel and there was no way to produce a receipt with no computers. She was able to make sure that I had all my billing right. Her and Melissa ( breakfast lady) handled the situation with ease and positive spirits. They made me feel like I had known them for years. Personality was amazing. (And I was NOT w nice guest with the situation at hand) A beautiful African American lady (janette or janelle or ja-nea) was so friendly while cleaning my room and it was SPOTLESS. Although I do not have a reason to stay again since I am local, I do know where I will be placing my in laws this holiday season!! Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. Melissa made sure I had everything I needed like I was at a full service restaurant. Kudos to the general manager for having a staff that you can see enjoys their job. It really shows. Laid back yet professional. (Perfect mix) I stay at various hotels over 50 nights a year and this is only the second time I have ever felt it necessary to write a review. Best westerns have come a long way as a brand and this hotel and its staff just makes you want to go back. At 6 in the morning, they are fun!
We stayed here one night after a long day on the road. It was one of the nicer Best Westerns we stayed at on this trip. The fellow at the front desk was very nice and friendly and upgraded our room (without us even asking!). The room was lovely and extremely comfortable; we really appreciated the courtesy. Breakfast was pretty good, too!
It is clean with a nice atmosphere. Close to college without being to close. Staff was nice and accomodating. Rooms were spacious although the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. We stayed 2 nights and left with back pain.
Not having been in the area before, we did a lot of research. We changed our minds on the hotel 3 times and we ended up here. We weren't dissappointed and we'd stay again. While the presentation of the food was good, the flavor wasn't. We'd consider this the only hiccup. It was nice to have the bagels and fruit option so we didnt have to seek out a place to eat priot to the tournament we attended. We'll be back.
I've stayed at this property in the past and it was better than average. Currently I would say that the rooms, at least my room, was in need of some updating. The good ..... service was friendly and excellent, free breakfast and not just bagels. The bed was very comfortable and lots of pillows. The not so good....... the tub had a cheap retrofitted surround, the tub had the coating all chipped up, the wooden shelf where the microwave sits was very worn looking. I won't let these things stop me from going there in the future, and I will actually be staying there in another week if so, but it's not as good of condition as it used to be.
We stayed overnight at the Best Western Plus after dropping our grandson off at Penn State. We found a coupon in a travel guide and got a great rate. The front desk attendant was very friendly and checked us in without a problem. The room was very spacious with a king size bed, which was very comfortable. The room also had a mini fridge and microwave, which came in handy. They also had bath and body works products, which happen to be my favorite. The breakfast the following morning was amazing. They had eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes and waffles and many other choices. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
We were just there for our first time during a football weekend and were pleasantly surprised! First, in general the staff was great. Aaron in particular was great. The rooms we large, the beds comfortable and I loved the bathrooms. So many hotels/motels don't think about women. There was a full size vanity counter for storing toiletries, a lighted make-up mirror and full selection of bath and body works toiletry items. There was also a shower cap and makeup remover. Plus the room was clean - a major major plus! My only negative was the breakfast. While other reviewers raved about it I thought it was not as good as other hotels of this caliber. The items in the heating pans were ice cold and not the best tasting (even though I recognize most of them are always from the package and reheated I thought these were less successful.) I will definitely choose to stay here again!
This is a hotel that should review at four stars, but barely rates three due to the management's lack of attention to detail and acceptance of fixable flaws. Bottom line: worth a stay, but only if this is the best price available in town--there are better options nearby. Here are my specific ratings: Check-in: B minus--friendly and enthusiastic but the computers are "down," requiring us to fill out a manual form. They were down throughout our stay, so we could not get a receipt. Room: B minus: Clean, up-to-date and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. However, when I went to leave a wake-up call, the phones were not working. Bath: C: Clean, up-to-date and well-maintained. Towels were worn but still in good shape. Sink lacks a drain closing plunger. Toilet seat would not stay up because of the seat model and the way it was installed according to a front desk employee. Facility: B minus: Clean but landscaping was a bit scruffy. Biggest problem was that security locks at access door were not functioning, forcing us to walk length of building to front entrance. Again, told by employee that "this happens sometimes." I really would have liked to give them a "Very good" for the nice staff and generally good condition of the property, but this hotel management really needs to fix the property's problems and shortcomings, and a "average" is appropriate.
Stayed 9/3/16 & 9/4/2016. Hotel room was generous in size, beds were comfy & Wifi was great. The Breakfast had many choices - really something for everyone. Front desk staff was friendly & helpful. Hotel is located close to restaurants, Walmart, Sam's Club & the local Mall. A short (8-10 minutes) drive to downtown and the Penn State Campus. Will stay again for sure !
Very helpful staff; comfortable bed (I like the comforter which is not too thick). The microwave and mini-fridge were very useful for my travel purposes as well. The hotel is about 12-15 min south of I-80, which is a fairly quick hop. I would stay here if I had a meeting at Penn State.
Beautiful hotel. Staff was amazing and very welcoming to the parents and families whom were staying for college drop off! Only thing that I had a problem with was the Internet was a little slow, but really wasn't that big of deal for me.
Very nice hotel. Pleasantly surprised with the overall improvements to the Best Western brand. One of the best breakfasts' I have had from a hotel. This hotel is just on the edge of town which helped in it being a quiet location.
This is an excellent choice for anyone's stay. The rooms are very clean. The rooms are fairly large with a mini fridge and microwave. The employees are very helpful. The hotel is close to several restaurants. The whole environment was extremely pleasant. I recommend getting a mountain view its beautiful.
This hotel is very convenient to food and grocery store. The price is nice, especially in this area. The hotel was clean and well laid out. The rooms were nice and the staff was terrific! The only problem I had was that my bed felt like it should have been replaced a year ago.
Room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the kids had fun in the pool. Front desk was accommodating when I asked for extra towels and blankets. Did notice a lot of scuff marks on the walls and doors and the carpet in the hall could be cleaned. However, we would stay there again.
Stayed here for just one night. Big property free and tons of parking! Bed is comfy, nice and clean room. Staff was supportive and friendly particularly Ben (assisted in giving directions to local places - Great customer service, Thanks Ben) and Mara who assisted with my check in, she was very polite on the phone and as well as in person. exactly the kind of person a hotel needs at the front desk! Thank Mara. Overall - Good stay, Would stay here again.
Check in was simple and fast. Ben was very pleasant and accommodating to anything we needed. Room was clean and modern. They had a hair dryer on the back of the door which was a nice change from the small ones attached to the walls that hotels usually have. Would stay again.
A quick trip but a really welcome stay. We had a very nice time. The room was comfy and homey. It was impeccably clean and neat. The staff was great. So was breakfast. Definitely a return in store for us.
With clean and comfortable rooms and facilities, this hotel is close to PSU campus and easy to find when coming off the highway. The pleasant and accommodating staff made us feel welcome. Breakfast was adequate and had enough variety for everyone in the family to enjoy - from Froot Loops to scrambled eggs.
My wife and I have stayed here before but we are struck by how poor the wifi is for a college location hotel. In addition this room had an electrical wiring oddity. The bathroom light could not be turned on without having the hall/entryway light on. So in the middle of the night the whole room is subjected to unnecessary light while people are sleeping.
This hotel offer very comfortable and clean rooms. The breakfast is a variation of cold and hot items. Pool and hot tub are relaxing. The wifi is fast and is centrally located near main routes, restaurants, mall and shops. The staff is friendly and professional.
Found the BW Plus on the internet after searching hotels near to Penn State. This hotel was clean, near the campus and the staff was great. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone staying in that area.
We were on our way home from a family trip to Michigan and stopped in for the night. The check in was easy and the front desk was very helpful. They had a coupon for Texas Roadhouse and a sewing kit which I needed. The staff was very nice. It was a Friday night it was a little on the loud side. We could hear a lot of noise from upstairs. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not what we are use to. We had a suite which was nice to have the extra space. The included breakfast is really good. The kids were very entertained by the "magic" pancake maker. We were hitting the Penn's Cave on the way home so it was a good stop off for the night. Close location.
The hotel has a nice indoor pool with a hot tub, which we used upon our arrival, after a very quick check in process. The guest room was roomy and lovely, and had a nice selection of toiletries in the bathroom. The room had a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and hair dryer. The lobby had a selection of microwavable and frozen snacks, but I did not need to purchase any. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, and had waffles, pancakes, yogurt parfaits, oatmeal, all sorts of toppings, cold cereals, and more. It was truly a great deal. When I book a hotel, I look for an indoor pool and a free breakfast, and this hotel fit that bill, but impressed me even beyond those 2 things. I highly recommend it, and I will definitely be staying here again when I visit State College to visit with my family member.
This was a very nice hotel. Very clean and the rooms were big and quiet. The beds were comfy. It has a nice pool and hot tub area. The breakfast in the morning was very good. They had waffles, pancakes, (lots of different toppings for both like strawberries, whip cream, powdered sugar and syrup) cereal, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, potatoes, yogurt, juices, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and apples. There may have been more, but that's all I can remember. The staff was great. At breakfast my on daughter had tea that was very hot. One of the staff asked her if she wanted ice for her tea, and got her some to help cool it down.
Very pleased with this hotel. We travel a lot and the nicest we have stayed in lately. Rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean. Lots of nice touches like the makeup cloths and mirror in the bathroom. Breakfast was good with lots of choices which was great for family. Loved all the Eco touches in the hotel. We will definitely stay again for future events in state college.
lobby attractive, personnel friendly, sink faucet was so close to the back of the sink that it was hard to put your hands under it to wash unless you turned up the volume of water, shower water pressure was good, breakfast food was ok, biggest thing was we could hear people above us walking around all the time. This noise was continuous. Rooms are spacious, comfortable - has easy chair with ottoman, next door is a cineplex , easy to get back to the highway. Due to the continuous noise I would probably choose a different hotel next time.
Our visit was not long enough. Our family stayed in the Queen room suite. The breakfast was very nice. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool. Close to Penn State. We had to leave early in the morning, wish we could have enjoyed a late morning.
Good room, nice welcoming lobby, friendly desk staff, decent breakfast, room has a kind of coffee bar area with microwave and fridge, nice touch, soft sheets and fluffy towels and fancy toiletries, smallish indoor pool with pool towels on site and hamper for after, attractive adjoining outdoor patio area with nice furniture. Beds and shower good.
It's stays like this that make life long customers. The staff was beyond helpful extending themselves for us upon arrival. The room was very clean, well laid out with ample space. The pool was clear and the fitness room was just right. It is located very closely to a couple great restaurant/bars. This place also has a phenomenal breakfast spread with pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal and much more. We will definitely be staying here again. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a well priced, clean, nice hotel.
Stay here once a year. Staff is helpful and rooms are clean. Good location near restaurants and shopping. Breakfast is good with waffles and pancakes. Also eggs, breakfast meat, potatoes, oatmeal, cereal, toast, juice, coffee.
I always stay here when in the State College area. The hotel staff is very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast is very good with lots of choices (waffles, pancakes, cereal, eggs, meat, potatoes, yogurt, toast, oatmeal etc).
Have stayed here several times over the last dozen years or so it's been open. Always a welcoming staff, a comfortable, well-maintained room and a very reasonable price. This year was no exception although the hotel seemed busier than usual. A couple of very minor nits: there really should be a second elevator. I slipped once on a wet spot left by a kid exiting the pool. Access to the elevator on my floor (4) blocked by a large soda machine. Besides, the elevator is very slow. The breakfast is average for this class of hotel; less appealing than in previous years. Overall, still 5 stars
Up to date facility. Very helpful staff. Breakfast is pretty thorough and as good or better than most similar weekend hotels. Ample parking and room for groups to gather. Key card controlled rooms which turn off when you take key and leave. Air conditioning was very powerful and chilled room if you like it that way.
My family, and extended family, stayed here for the purpose of attending a family wedding. It was clean, comfortable and modern. The front desk staff was efficient and very pleasant. We were permitted an earlier than normal check in. We were given an excellent group rate as well. The breakfast was a nice variety, not the greatest coffee, but Sheetz is nearby. It was very easy to find off if I-99, near the exit.
This is the second time we stayed at a Best Western Plus hotel. We were very comfortable and pleased with everything. Very nice, and would recommend BW to others. We were able to utilize the pool area for our family group, and happen to have it to ourselves, which was nice. The breakfast was fresh and good. The only small concern was that, for me, the pillows were too lumpy, and that affected my sleep somewhat.
Great location ,easy access to PSU, nice amenities, the staff went above and beyond to help us stay at their hotel for two extra nights, in spite of only starting with one night reserved, saving us from having to stay an hour away from State College. They kept their prices decent in spite of most of the other hotels in the area totally price gouging in their greed to take advantage of desperate parents of PSU grads, and those attending the NCAA final Four Men's Volleyball events (like we were). Would definitely stay here again!!!
I made PSU graduation weekend reservations a year in advance. Had to go through booking.com as all hotels already booked. Paid about twice regular (graduation time) room rate @$618 per room for two rooms. Due family emergency I had to cancel reservations. I was admittedly 2 hours over deadline when I called hotel. My fault. My reservation was made through booking.com. Hotel told me to call booking.com. I did. Representative from booking had me on a three way call with hotel. Hotel (legally) stuck by the charge. After the phone call, Booking.com then sent me a letter stating the agreement with hotel was that I should be charged half. I again called hotel and spoke with general manager, I asked him if this agreement was true. He said "generally yes." However he stuck by full charge at $618 per room. I learned some lessons. If you book ahead this far don't use booking.com, post a cancellation reminder to yourself as you will NOT receive reminder from hotel, and don't expect help in an emergency. To hotel rules are rules. All "legal" of course, I don't think I would have gotten as upset if hotel at least talked to me at initial phone call. "You made your reservation through booking. com so you have to call them." Which I did. I am Sorry all this happened and this is my first negative review as a Best Western platinum Rewards member. Oh, and for $1236. i didn't get any points..... Please learn from my mistakes.
The hotel itself is fine.... Very clean and convenient to the interstate and PSU. Breakfast is good but it can become crowded on weekends. Nice pool too. The only complaint is that you have to watch the media poodles on Fox News while you eat your breakfast. For that reason alone I will stay elsewhere.
The room was just right, comfortable, clean and newly furnished. Our stay was quite pleasant and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We look forward to returning on a frequent basis. Thanks Best Western Plus.
Greats top over location on way to New York City. Less than 10 minutes off the highway to this clean, friendly & relaxed hotel. Breakfast was hot and fresh with continual replenishments as needed. Good size room with very comfortable king size bed. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to family & friends.
This is the second time I used Best Western Plus in State College for business. Very impressed the first time, was not disappointed this time. Will continue to use Best Western as my choice when in need of travel lodging.
This place is super nice, and I have stayed there several times now. Close to Penn State and Bellefonte, PA. Breakfast is awesome and the beds are comfortable. It's convenient to I-99, I-80 and US 322.
Our room was extremely clean. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast had an assortment of good food: waffles, eggs, bacon, bagels, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal. Very nice selection. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had a wonderful nights sleep!
I book two double bed standard rooms and they were very clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was hot and all the necessary toiletries were there. Refrigerator and microwave, and coffee maker was a plus. Breakfast in the morning was great. I would book with this hotel again!
We had a very good overnight stay for a Bruce Springsteen show on campus. The location is convenient to Penn St (5 miles), and across from a mall with many restaurant choices. For big campus events, such as football games and concerts, there is a bus service from the hotel. The facility is well maintained, room was clean, the staff responsive and breakfast was good. We will stay at this Best Western again.
The hotel was very good. It was only 5 minutes to the BJC. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast bar was one of the best I have ever enjoyed. Highly recommend this place.
Property is very inviting (well maintained). The rooms are clean and large. The outdoor landscaping is very inviting and makes a good impression. We did not have time to use the pool this trip, but have in the past. The kids love the pool area. Check-in was very easy and pleasant.
very nice, surprise how nice and well decor. staff very caring. enjoy the stay and the hot tub/spa. breakfast was excellent and part of the hotel stay (free). the stay was to attend Penn State meetings and informational for new student for my son.
Hotel has many construction workers staying there so many late arrivals and early departures in a hotel with loud closing doors. Beds comfortable and decent breakfast bar. Convenient highway access. Good parking.
Probably would have given 4 stars however, there were some minor things that were a bit annoying. Wifi kept disconnecting, sink faucet was so close to the back of the sink that it was hard to put your hands under it to wash (maybe only in room 302!), shower head couldn't be pointed downward enough (but water pressure was good), TV remote didn't work well, breakfast food was good but the area got a bit cramped when getting coffee and other items (go early!), we could hear the person above us walking around all the time (either a heavy walker or thin ceiling!). Rooms are spacious, comfortable and it's easy access to everything!
First visit here. Check in was quick and the room was spacious. The indoor pool was a big hit with our granddaughter. The breakfast was good and offered a good variety. The price was great but cleanliness was a little lacking in the room...found old cheese on the floor. Overall, a fair value.
started out ok but continuously got worse by staff. Lack of bath tub was disappointing and shower was not great water pressure seem to be all gunked up by build up. The toilet made running water sounds the entire time and the wifi was sketchy at best
I was very impressed with this hotel, especially at the price! My kids loved the pool and hottub and it is right next to a movie theatre. It is also real close to the mall. My only complaint is that the bed was too hard for me to sleep.
Wonderful Hotel, clean, well maintained, spacious rooms, nice clean pool and gym, excellent breakfast. Very Pleasant Stay every time we visit PA. Its situated in a very good location, close to all shopping, food and outdoor activities. Would recommend to all!
First time at the new Best Western in State College, PA. The hotel was quiet, clean and Green. Friendly staff. Located just off of Shilo Road makes this hotel convenient to highway access, shopping, dining and more.
I stayed at the Best Western University Park recently while on business. The front desk staff were all very friendly and efficient. My room was spacious and well-equipped with work space, a kitchenette, and nice Bath & Body Works toiletries. The arm chair and hassock were a bit stained, but everything else was spotless. The bed linens were cheap -- so thin, they were almost opaque. A little after I checked in, I was startled as the door opened and three men walked in -- either maintenance or contractors. Records of which rooms are occupied need to be kept, and employees need to at least knock before trying to enter! I didn't hear any sound from the rooms on either side of me, but got a lot of noise from the room above -- soundproofing seemed non-existent between floors. If noise bothers you, I'd suggest asking for the top floor.
It's was a great stay. The room was clean and nice. and the people that worked there were every nice and helpful. Especially the breakfast. It's was great. Everything was only ten mins away, the whole town was beautiful.. Can't wait to stay there again.
The only issue was that when we check-in (after 4PM) we went to our room and housekeeping was still making up the room. We had to leave and come back. The breakfast was ok. The room was really nice and clean. The location of the hotel was great. I would stay there again.
Loved our stay at this best western, slight noise issues the one night but that was to be expected as their was a group of kids in, wasn't really a concern for me and my boyfriend. Kids will be kids. Other than that the staff was all super friendly and willing to do anything we needed the breakfast buffet was also very good, we would definitely recommend this best wester to friends and would stay here on future getaways
Thank you, easy check-in and check-out, reasonable rate, fair-good accommodations. This was our first stay in a room on the outside of the building. Prefer this and will do again as it was much quieter.
Great breakfast in morning. They served early, which was super for us!. Wonderful Facility and great room. Will stay again next for sporting events! Very close to Penn State. Great pool and hot tub for the kids.
Best Western is probably my favorite hotel chain. Room, breakfast, staff were all excellent. It may be most helpful to point out this particular Best Western is in a great location, especially for travelers in Central PA on I-99 headed to or from I-80. It is easy to reach, located off the Shiloh Road exit of I-99, east of State College, near the Nittany Mall, and a number of restaurants..fast food and otherwise (Mexican, Quaker Steak, pizza) as well as a multi-screen theater next door. I stayed here the other evening after attending a concert at the Bryce Jordan Center, which is not very many miles away. This hotel will be my overnight stop again after a show.
I've been to many Best Westerns and this is one of the best I've seen if not the best one. Everything is clean and nice Staff is great Breakfast is really nice Fitness center and pool are great Rooms are supper nice. Just great.
Breakfast was not very good. Hot items tough and inedible. jjjjjjjjjkllllllllllllldllls;;;lfjaeojrporupoklfjpor[potapoapjkjksjkjjjjjlkakjfakkljdkjaklfkn,,mz ajoieoai;kakjljlkoiroioiaioahoalkjieorka;lkklkkkfflkfloieoryoalkldkoieo;lkdkhpoihoa
This hotel is about three minutes to Nittany Mall, Walmart and Sams club. Its a good 10 minute drive from the University. It's in a quiet area but does have a movie theatre right next door. We were very pleased with the hotel. Very Clean. Very comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised as I have stayed in Best Westerns before and this one surpassed my expectations. We did have a small snafu with our billing but the staff is so helpful and committed to finding the issue and making sure everything is done right. This is an A+. Finally, breakfast was good. They had a waffle and pancake maker which was a bonus for my son. We did enjoy the breakfast but the eggs reminded me of the plastic sunny side eggs we used to play with as kids. :) Overall, I would definitely stay here again.
My son's and I stayed here the night before a wrestling tournament so we didn't have to travel so far and just to have a fun mini vacation. Hotel was very clean, amazingly friendly and accommodating staff, and plush, nice beds. Had a great nights sleep after being pool side most of the evening!
First impressions were good, but then it started within 15 minutes. We were not told that there was a bus that would take us to Bryce Jordan Center until after I inquired about it, but by then we missed it. The bed was like sleeping on a board and the pillows weren't much better. The bathroom had cracked floor tiles throughout. My husband said it was like staying in a paper bag. You could hear the guests that were in the next room as if they were in our room. Unruly guests were running up and down the halls. The hot breakfast was not hot. The staff that took care of the breakfast room were too busy talking with front desk staff to be concerned about replenishing the food. We were disappointed with what we received for the $300.00 we spent for our 2 night stay. Probably would not return. Front desk staff did not even ask how our stay was when we left, she just took our room keys and said you're good to go.
I stayed here for 2 nights while traveling to state college on a business trip. The hotel was very clean, the front staff was wonderful and very helpful (needed to find a pharmacy for a RX refill), the breakfast area was very clean and the food was good. (First time I ever saw a Pancake making machine!!) Please note though....in the room there was a fill out card for the service you need for the next day. Choices were full cleaning, towel refresh and no service....Well I always ask for new towels but do not need the bed changed. When returning to my room I had new towels but that was all. Bed was not made nor were there additional little bottles of toiletries added. So if you want your bed made and need addtional shampoo or soap I suggest you put full service on your card.
breakfast was horrible, otherwise, hotel was fine. Good location for our business needs in State College, but a bit out of 'dodge'! Bed was comfortable, kitchen was sparse; no newspaper delivery in the morning which is a minus.
Although the desk agent was very polite when we arrived, the first two sets of card keys he gave us did not work. A little frustrating after a long drive. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was above the norm for most best westerns. Plenty of choices. Although I didn't use it, the pool and hot tub looked clean and inviting. Overall a good experience and I would stay here again.
The staff at the hotel was excellent and helpful. The noise level in the rooms when sleeping at night was distracting. Light sleepers should avoid this hotel. The location is convenient to the freeway and most activities in State College.
Hotel is conveniently located to Penn State campus. Hotel in excellent condition and the room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast area was in main lobby with ample seating. Very nice selection of breakfast items.
We had a double queen large comfortable room. I would have liked a little more water pressure in the shower, but that is me.The breakfast buffet was clean and well stocked with hot food and good cold choices. The bed was comfortable and aside from noisy upstairs neighbors one night the place is pretty quiet.
Nice property for the price. Breakfast was diverse and different each day. The staff was very nice and even changed our room after our original room proved to be near the the lobby and therefore very loud. Truth be told our next room was still rather noisy which leads me to believe that there isn't much in the way of soundproofing.
My husband and I took our 3 grandsons to a Penn State basketball game. Being a late game we wanted to stay the night. The Best Western Plus was recommended to us by a friend who stays after every football game. He said that the hotel was his first choice. He was right, perfect location, the hotel was only a few miles from the campus. Our room was extremely clean, which is a must for my little guys. The staff was very friendly and courteous and the breakfast was great. You definitely did not walk away hungry. We will definitely book with the Best Western Plus next trip to State College.
Less than 5 miles to Beaver Stadium but away from the hustle and bustle of downtown on a football weekend. Free parking and a hot, diverse breakfast fitting all palates. Room was warm and cozy but needed a little more housekeeping attention. Maria and Angela at the front desk were very helpful and professional. Indoor pool and hot tub were perfect for a fall/winter stay-cation.
Nice hotel-got an early check-in. Ate our lunch in the lobby. Staff was very friendly. Used the fitness room. Good night's sleep. Breakfast staff was awesome. She cooked up an egg dish with no "gluten in it." Have and Will recommend this hotel. Easy drive to PSU campus!
The location is convenient for business in State College. The room was large and had both a microwave and a refrigerator. The breakfast is available for free and included make your own waffles and pancakes and included eggs, sausage, breads, yogurt, cereal and oatmeal. My only issue was that we found a master key in our room that must have belonged to a maid and when we returned it to the front desk they seemed unconcerned.
If you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you. Guest in room next door was snoring and keep us awake, you shouldn't be able to hear every noise through the walls. Very friendly staff and clean hotel otherwise.
This is my 3rd stay at this hotel while visiting my daughter at PSU . The staff is excellent and the facilities are very clean . The location is good with easy access to the highway coming and going . They also serve a hot buffet breakfast that is well maintained .
I stayed three nights at this Best Western Plus. The front lobby was beautifully decked out for the holidays. The rooms clean and well-appointed. This is why the Very Good rating. The only problems I encountered were: remote requiring new batteries, one morning the breakfast area was so crowded that we almost did not get a table - the seating spread into the lobby. The front desk clerk on check-in was less than enthusiastic and did not explain the hotel amenities (I checked in at 8:00 pm on a Wednesday night.
This is my second time at the Best Western on Premiere Drive. The staff has been and was helpful, courteous and efficient. Both times that I stayed my rooms were at the front of the building facing east. The view was serene looking over a field and low mountains in the distance. Also because it being at the end of December, the parking lot was 70-80% filled and it was still quiet (no games at this time). I felt safe. The rooms were clean and quiet. They come with a mini fridge, micro-wave, hair dryer, 1 cup coffee maker and ac/heat/fan that works VERY well. There's plenty of room in the room with 2 queen size beds for the little ones to have room to spread out. Conceivably room for another queen size blow up mattress. Besides the bureau and built in cupboards and counter where the mini fridge and microwave are there is a desk with it's own chair and another cushioned chair with ottoman. They are green so you must request bed or towel service. My phone signal strength was strong enough not to need their wi-fi code. There is no room safe. I would definitely stay there again.
While this may not be a five star hotel, the service was excellent and staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in the area. The continental breakfast was very good, even better than some of the bigger hotels. There is a nice weight room and clean pool as well.
I stayed with my elderly mother here, she is handicapped. The rails in the bathroom added safety to her stay. The lobby was decorated for Christmas with Penn State blue. This is my second stay, it was (again) clean and quiet.
Second floor room at the end of the hall. We had a nice view and it was a beautiful, warm weekend for December. The grandchildren enjoyed the pool--------several times----in the morning and evening.. They loved running up and down the hall to the soda machine, too.
Stayed for Swim Meet; about a 5 minute drive to PSU McCoy Natatorium. Room exceptionally clean. Beds ok. Has refrigerator and microwave area in room. Breakfast good. Did not use pool but looked nice (on smaller side). Only minor complaint of not having outlets in lamp on bedside table. You have to reach behind bed to charge your phone and keep within arm's length or charge on the other side of the room.
I had the pleasure of staying in one of the double bed suites and loved it. Everything was very clean. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast bar in the morning has great options. When the waffle batter was getting low, the staff was right on it and replaced with a fresh batch! We will be coming back for years to come!
Comfort, Service, Dependibility with quality. We would recommend this facility to anyone visiting State College, PA. Location is perfectly located to conduct both business and family events. This is definitely a home away from home.
I stayed here over the weekend (November 13-15) and enjoyed the stay very much; the employees were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed the indoor pool and we were close to everything we needed. My only complaint--and it's a minor one--is the breakfast eggs. They were rubbery and chewy and I just didn't feel like I was eating scrambled eggs. The overall selection was great and the coffee was some of the best! Overall my experience was very good but when my family travels we usually bring our dog, so next time up with our dog we'll have to stay somewhere else but for this weekend it was perfect for me and my daughter. You can't beat the location; close to gas, shopping, food, and a play place for kids (Fun Unleashed by the Wal-Mart) and the highway. It was a very convenient location, and if it were dog friendly, we'd make it our go-to place to stay.
We travel and stay over night several nights per year, To be honest Best Western is never our first choice. It seems more of a franchise than a chain and you are often surprised at what you get. We first tried the State College Best Western due to its proximity to our destination and the fact that it was newly built. (about 2-3 years ago). This hotel is first class with comfortable rooms, fast wifi, and a nice breakfast. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to help. They also have a fitness room, pool and hot tub. I would have no reservations advising anyone to make a reservation at this property.
They day before leaving home I lost my wallet and had to figure how I was going to make to my departure on time. I explained to the front desk (Horace Haughton) my situation and they kindly took care of it and got me to my departure on time. They were very helpful through my stay letting me know what was surrounding me and other things like that. Thank you Horace for your above & beyond service
Beautiful motel, with extremely helpful staff. Cleanest motel that I have ever stayed in. The manager is always about and ready to help with anything. I highly recommend this motel for anyone traveling.
I'd advise a room above the 2nd floor away from the pool if you'd like a quieter stay. Otherwise, the staff is pleasant; food area is very well presented and clean. The room was comfortable and clean. I appreciate skipping a room clean everyday if it's not needed. And the energy efficient efforts made here.
Comfortable room, close to Nittany Mall and great dining options. Staff was very helpful and we had no problems checking in or out. Breakfast was satisfactory and the pool, fitness and dining areas were very clean.
The room was roomy, beds were great, shad a good night rest. The staff was pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was good, what you would expect for this type of hotel. Would stay again. Convenient location the hotel staff recommended a great place to eat, See separate review.
When I checked in, the front desk clerk was nice. We got to the room and it was big and clean. Everything in the room worked. I have stayed at 2 other hotels in State College. I thought both of those other hotels had much better breakfast. We left the room around noon. We returned to the room around 11 pm. Much to our surprise, no one cleaned the room.
The staff is very friendly. The room is large and has a microwave and fridge. The bathroom is also large with a lighted make up mirror and good hair dryer. The breakfast area is nice with a variety of food to select from. It is near Nittany Mall.
We try to stay in Best Western Hotels when traveling and not necessarily on "vacation". This is probably the best Best Western we've stayed at. The lobby and breakfast area were very nice and inviting and the front desk staff were all very welcoming and accomodating. The rooms were a little roomier than most and everything in the rooms and around the hotel were in good condition. The suite we were in had a sofa and a stuffed chair with a semi divider between the bed and the living area. It created a nice division and made it more conducive to relaxing and hanging out. The pool area was nice and they had a good exercise room for a "motel". We used both. The one "blooper" was that one of the three rooms we had was not serviced one night. Also, when leaving one morning we passed a housekeeping staff and to help we said, "We're leaving now so you can clean..." and without stopping or even looking at us, she said, with an attitude," Not my rooms." even though we had never had the chance to say what rooms we were in. It was weird. But everyone else and the motel was so good it didn't majorly affect the was we saw the property. Although without this incident, we probably would have rated it a five. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
I stayed one night on a Sunday, so I will precede this review by stating that the place was not all that busy. But in any case, here are a few facts: It's a block off of the busy road, so I found it fairly quiet in the room. There is a Sheetz right across the street, which is very convenient. It's a 5 mile straight drive directly to Penn State University Park campus. Quick friendly check-in. We were on the second floor. Our room had 2 queen sized beds, and yet the room was very spacious. Everything was clean and functional. The heat/AC worked perfectly. Microwave and fridge in the room, and the fridge was cold and ready for use. Coffee maker in room. It worked fine. Spacious, clean bathroom, stocked with more than enough towels, etc. Free breakfast included. It was perfectly fine. Free internet, and it performed well. Good TV with a decent selection of channels. NO room safe.
when checking in the staff members were mean and disrespectful I asked if we could stay another night and she said I will let you know and I said forget it I'll stay somewhere different, room was okay but there was only 1 Towle in the room which was stupid, by by best Western!!
We stayed here for a football game and I stayed at a lot of hotels in state college but this is the worst, staff were very rude to a lot of people in the lobby and when I asked them for the directions they said "I can't help you with that" Breck fast was horrible everything was hard as a rock, room was okay but there was a bug swimming in the toilet, We won't be back EVER AGAIN!!
One of the housekeepers needs a service dog, this does not prevent this person from performing their job. How wonderful in my opinion. This hotel has a movie theater with in walking distance but still in a quiet area. Some shopping is near by, especially love going to the Barnes and Noble that was near by. The staff was cheerful and helpful. The hotel was clean.
Great hotel. We recently stayed here for a PSU football game. Friday night we were welcomed with a little happy hour...what a great start to our weekend. Perfect location, comfortable rooms and an exceptional staff (one of the best I've seen in a long time). I work in the travel industry and stay in a lot of hotels....this was top notch for sure. I will definitely recommend this to others headed to PSU. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The hotel is relatively new and very clean. The staff at the Best Western was very pleasant and helpful, especially, the breakfast buffet staff. The rooms were nice and most importantly clean. The location is easy to find and close to PSU.
This hotel is very convenient to I 99 and PSU. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sometimes they run a shuttle to PSU games so check with the hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was typical hotel stuff and crowded but that is to be expected. Will stay here again when we visit.
We were returning from a driving vacation in Nova Scotia and traveling to Indianapolis for an event. Road Construction in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania had tried our patience and when it came to stop, we looked up this place in the highway coupon book and our road frustrations melted away. Great Staff, Great hotel. Good night sleep, Good breakfast and we went on to our next adventure refreshed.
