Resumen de la reserva
The beds were very comfortable compared to other hotels. The hotel was easy to find and just over the border. There were several restaurants that were easy to find. We noticed a mildew smell which was the only complaint, but otherwise, the hotel was very nice and quiet.
Planning a trip to the Sarnia/Point Edward area? Consider staying at the Best Western Guildwood. It can be found on Venetian Blvd, along a strip of other hotels, straddling the subtle border between Sarnia and Point Edward. The location is perfect - a quick drive/bike ride/walk to the casino/restaurant, Centennial Park, fish n chips, Bluewater Bridge Park that hosts delicious french fry trucks, fish feeding activity, Native monument, and a wonderful pathway winding along the water that will take you to the Sarnia Yacht Club, and all the way to Canatara Beach Park. The tiny downtown area of Point Edward offers food, ice cream, and a few shops. The hotel is easy off/on the hwy and the border to the US. We could have choose any of the hotels along the hotel row, but the BW's modest accommodations, full sit-down breakfast, and price-point swayed us here this year. Staff was friendly and there are some rooms that offer parking right outside the rooms (access to room is from inside and out). It's a bit older than some of the newer hotels next door, but it is safe, clean, and the first-floor outside door access rooms are perfect if you have a lot of luggage, want in/out privacy, or if you have a dog. I've stayed here multiple times. No issues. Great sleep. We did not use the pool this time, but they do have an outside pool to chill by...
Checked in on Sunday late afternoon. Hotel was nice and our room was clean and quiet. No problems other than as usual, older hotels just don't have enough plugs for all our toys. That's OK – we managed. We were surprised that the restaurant attached to the hotel, B & B Pub and Grill is closed for supper on the weekend. Luckily there was a Tim Horton in walking distance. The free breakfast in the mornings is in that restaurant. It's not a normal BW buffet breakfast but a sit down order from a special menu. We were told the night before that breakfast was at 6:30 and since we wanted to hit the road early, it was perfect. Unfortunately, since it was Canada Day, breakfast was not until 7 am. We decided to wait. We were the first ones in there when they opened but of course, ordering from a menu, we waited little more then 10 minutes for our food. My husband ordered the pancakes with sausages which were very good but with the normal, they never give enough small syrup containers. I, unfortunately, ordered a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and it came with home fries. My eggs were runny, my bacon was see-through barely cooked and my toasts were burnt. Guess that's what happens when you're the first to order after they open. The home fries were very good as was the coffee. I would have liked a second cup but by then the place had filled up and the only waiter was running everywhere. We should have just left and eaten on the road. It was very disappointing. Not sure if I would stay there again.
Due to overbooking, our room was upgraded to a suite. My son enjoyed himself and at 16 that is extraordinary
If I could give this hotel a 0 as their rating I would. The service and standard of cleanliness at the hotel was appalling! We booked this hotel for a baseball tournament my son was participating in. When he checked he went to his room to drop off some gear before his game, and the bedding was dirty. He quickly notified the front desk and was told it would be cleaned. He left for his game. I called the hotel myself to ensure that it would be cleaned when they were out playing at their ball game and the front desk advised that they could not clean the bedding as they were not allowed into the room when the occupants were not there. Obviously this is a load of crap as housekeeping comes in and out of people's rooms to clean them when people are not in their rooms. He said they could pick up the bedding at the front desk and make it themselves. So on top of walking into a room with bedding that looked like it had feces on it, they now were supposed to strip off the dirty bedding and make it themselves. Unacceptable and I told the front desk staff this. I was told he would talk to manager and that it would be resolved most likely with a percentage of. My son came back from his game and got the bedding and they stripped off the dirty bedding and remade the bed. At some point during the stay the front desk staff advised my son he would receive a percentage discount. Okay fine. He went to check out on the Sunday and he checked with the staff that discount was applied and he confirmed it was. When I received the invoice via email, lo and behold the discount was not applied. I emailed customer service at the hotel and followed up with a call. I was advised that since the rooms were discounted because of a tournament they would not be able to honour the discount that they already advised to make up for the dirty linens. Needless to say this was unacceptable. 1) standard of cleanliness was unacceptable and if linens were dirty, surely the rest of the room was not cleaned properly either 2) the lack of problem solving on behalf of the hotel staff was ridiculous 3) the front desk staff member advised me that the manager could call me back when she is back from holidays in about a week and a half. I said surely someone must be able to handle these things while she is away and I was advised no. So when the manager is gone, apparently service at the hotel shuts down as apparently no one has any authority to handle any customer complaint situation. Do better!!
We love staying at this hotel in Sarnia. So very welcoming and clean. The front desk staff is charming. Parking is easy. It's close to the highway BP and still quiet.
whenever I travel to Sarnia on business, I say at the Best Western Guildwood. Good location and reasonably priced. Rooms are clean and the food in the restaurant is good.
We stayed at this hotel twice within 1 week. First night was en route to a trip to the US. Our receptionist, Rodrigo was very friendly, efficient, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in a whirlpool suite which was large and comfortable. Although we were immediately offered complimentary breakfast vouchers, we did not use them that time as we needed to travel early the next morning. Our second visit/stay 6 days later was unplanned and had to book a standard room due to experiencing automotive trouble on our way back to Canada. We were greeted by Elaine who made check-in breezy after a long day of dealing a cross-border tow and drop off at the dealership. We arrived to a very comfortable and cozy standard room with a very comfortable bed, bathroom and office chair. It had everything we could have asked for: mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig machine, fast internet and cable TV. We did take advantage of the delicious, friendly and fast complimentary hot breakfast and late check-out. Would 100% recommend.
A great place with very friendly staff. Weekdays have free breakfast. It's a great value and clean with easy highway access.
Easy to find and park. Staff very welcoming in the restaurant and the hotel. The room was comfy, cozy, clean and welcoming
My wife and I made a reservation for a room with a 2-person jacuzzi. Reasonable priced large room, clean, friendly staff. the jacuzzi was in the main room and the bathroom had a walk in shower. We were there on a Saturday night. Breakfast is included during the week but we had a nice breakfast at a reasonable price in the restaurant.
We stayed over at this venue using our points. Check-in was quick and we were able to check in at 2 pm which was nice after travelling for 2 hours for an appointment. We were asked if we would like an upstairs room or lower. We chose the lower and were immediately upgraded to a suite which was nice since we had a relative coming to visit. The rooms, although a bit dated were clean, spacious and in working order. The internet was working well and easily accessed. The coffee machine, fridge and microwave were in good working order and the bath area was spacious with both a jacuzzi and large shower. A separate room housed a washbasin. The King Sized bed was comfortable and the bedroom furniture was updated and attractive. We were surprised that our stay included a complimentary bbreakfast from the full menu. It was served according to our order in a prompt and friendly manner. We had dinner in the restaurant as well. The soup, was tasty and there was plenty of meat in each spoonful. The evening special was plentiful and tasty.
I truly hope someone from corporate sees this email. Our recent hotel during a trip for a family funeral was absolutely terrible from the moment we tried to check in until we left. Check in was met with a rather unfriendly desk clerk who complained through the entire check in about our third party booking. Which left us nervous we wouldn't get a room. We rented the hot tub suite at a staggering price for what we got. Before even entering the room we were met but a hallway of drunk loud tradesman staying at the hotel. Walking between rooms, yelling and blasting music. We were told by the front desk "they will go to bed early" and we left for the evening. Upon returning near midnight the music was so loud it could be heard getting out of our car in the parking lot! The carpets were filthy and wrinkled, the showers were cracked and mouldy, the hot tub had hair and whiskers coming out of the jets. So neither made us feel remotely clean. There were stains and marks in the wall and chipped furniture, the lighting was so tell w and dim is were nearly useless. The sheets were piled and rough as sandpaper in a hard worn out old bed. And this was $176/night room!!! To add insult to injury the vending machines took payments but did not provide products. The grounds were covered by cigarette butts, beer cans and oddly, slices of bread. Someone really needs to check in on this hotel it is an absolutely terrible blemish in the brand.
I've stayed here 2 different times once in a jam and another planned and both experiences were beautiful and I will be back again soon the hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel is nice to be in
Very loud hotel with door slamming and you could hear everything coming from adjoining rooms. I especially enjoyed the drunks returning to their hotel around 2am. You could hear every shower, every toilet and running sink. I might be spoiled from staying in hotels with sound proof rooms but it was loud all night.
Great service the staff was very helpful. The hotel is just an older hotel and could use a little upgrade. It was clean and the rooms where nice and had everything that I needed for my stay. I would stay there again.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean. However when i entered the room there was a strong musty smell and also some washroom smell. I had to open the window, even if it was very hot outside (had to turn the ac off). The room was overlooking the roof, that had air conditioner/s mounted on it and some other devices that would hum loudly and turn on and off, which made it difficult to fall asleep. The breakfast restaurant seemed to be understaffed. People were complaining not being able to get a server - there was one server for the entire place. Had to wait for 20-25 minutes for my meal...
Exceptional hotel with excellent amenities and location. The rooms are pretty clean and hygiene factor is maintained to 5 stars across the hotel. The price for the stay suits to our pocket and complementary breakfast is also worth trying at this hotel.
Best Western in Sarnia, Ontario Canada has a bar and restaurant, but does not serve Labatts Blue beer. Two different groups asked for the brand. The bartender said management won't order it. Two for two, It should be ordered. Best Western in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada does not provide continental breakfast on Saturdays or Sundays.
If your looking for a clean / safe place to grab some shut eye - that isn't over priced - this is it. No complaints - even has an outdoor pool - & all the free ice you would ever need . . . The staff was happy & friendly. All around I recommend this place to stay at.
We booked in advance. We arrived and were registered quickly and in a friendly manner. Service was excellent sas usual We have never had any problems at best Western and have stayed ast their hotels for many years,
It was fine good enough for what we needed. At it dated though the smell was musty kind of pungent. Friendly staff though. Toilet overflowed. Good coffee close to all important amenities shopping casino restaurants
Beds & pillows are super comfy. Room appeared to be clean. Room 137 had a mini fridge but no microwave (usually if has one, has both). Paid $20 + tax ($3.50) per night X 4 nights for total pet fee of $94 yet there were 2 dark stains in the carpet which we mentioned to front desk so we would not get charged extra. Clerk took note of it & said they would get them shampooed. Pet fee is supposedly charged because these rooms require additional cleaning. Should these stains not have been cleaned before we checked in? We did not dare walk on the carpet without our shoes. So again, what additional cleaning is done to require an additional pet fee?? Also, the pet fee s/b per stay, not per night. This is our pet peeve with ALL hotels, not just this one.
Slept great here and the staff were wonderful. Rooms are not modern or fancy but were great otherwise. Very accommodating to a big group. Very convenient location in respect to the border. The Sitara Indian restaurant located near by is delicious.
Hotel was clean and updated. Room was comfortable clean and updated, we stayed in a king suite it was very comfortable, however it seemed the heat in the bedroom wasn't working very well. It didn't effect our stay as we like it cool in our room to sleep anyways. Minutes away from Blue Water Bridge crossing. Staff was friendly, we will definitely stay here again
excellent service at this hotel. the customer service was very friendly and knowledgeable. the restaurant has good food and a good variety of spirits, beer, draft. charging dinner to the room was easy and smooth.
Booked my room directly with the hotel and every experience with the front desk was done professionally and friendly. Room was exceptionally clean. Overall it was a great hotel/experience. Very close to the border and made taking a day trip in Michigan very convenient.
Best Western is always a good place to stay. Staff are exceptional, willing to offer help if needed. Beds are very comfortable and great pillows. A good hot cooked breakfast included with very good service. The restaurant is excellent. If you are a gambler the casino is a short drive or walk. Would recommend a stay here.
Rooms, service and location were very good. The hotel has lots of parking I found the bed and pillows to soft for my liking The one thing this hotel lacks is an indoor swimming pool for off season use
Wonderful place to visit, especially during the week as we pretty much had the pool to ourselves! We two sisters value our time to visit, eat out and enjoy the quiet, clean and happy place this offers. This is an annual treat we give ourselves. Just love all the staff and the great restaurant offerings and the included continental breakfast. Just awesome!! Go ahead.....make your reservations for a wonderful time away from your usual scene!!
Location – very good – close to USA border crossing Hotel – older well maintained 2 story hotel, B&B Tap & Grill on site – with restricted hours, Front desk staff not very friendly, appeared to be all business no small talk, Room – large, clean and everything worked well, Furniture and rugs were in good shape, AC did not appear to work well – difficult to get to lower temperature Internet – below average – 5 mbps down, 2 mbps up (2.4 Ghz) Breakfast – no breakfast provided on weekends , only Monday to Friday ??? We had to have breakfast in the onsite restaurant !! In my many years of staying at Best Western Hotels, this is the first time the hotel has not included breakfast with my stay – very CHEAP ! Diamond Rewards Member – not recognized by hotel staff at check-in !! Summary – based on the fact the hotel staff do not make you feel welcome and the lack of a breakfast not included with your stay and given that I paid just over $170 for the night – I WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN !!
I am a care taker for my mother and had not had a break in over a year and a half. The stay was wonderful. The pillows, mattress, towels and shower were all cosy. I hope to come again and stay a little longer
Took a solo motorcycle trip and stayed at the Best Western Guildwood Inn. I very much enjoyed the outdoor pool and relaxed with a few sun rays. Went to my room and showered and ordered from Skip the dishes and had a relaxed evening to myself watching TV which I don't do very often. Bed was super comfy. I definitely recommend.
Do not get married here. Went to a friends wedding here, the staff threatened to "Shut the wedding down" twice. The wedding party had flasks, so when they were introduced at the ceremony, they would take a little swig out of their flasks, then go sit down. The staff had let the bride and groom know that they would shut it down if that happened again. (outside alcohol was the issue they had with it) I understand, rules are rules, but the situation could have been handled more professionally. The bride and groom had 3 bottles of wine at every table. IMMEDIATELY after dinner the servers started removing the bottles of wine. We said hey what are you doing with those? Their response was "we are pouring them down the drain, we have to remove them" What?! They took the bottles of wine so we would spend money at their bar... I would recommend staying far, far away from this place as a choice for your wedding venue.
Stayed at Best Western Sarnia while attending a wedding. The check in was fine, but the room was pretty bad. Hot water took forever, low pressure, shower didn't work well, wifi was poor, and the AC was not very good. The restaurant was awful. Badly understaffed, it took 20 minutes to get seated for breakfast (the staff ignored people waiting for tables for long periods of time - during which most people just left). Dishes were dirty and the menu options were very limited.
We went to Sarnia to visit family We toured the town saw the bridge water and shopped till we were exhauasted loved our stay and hope to return again in a couple of months Would like to try the pool out and hope to have a accessible unit if it's possible We never thought to ask so will for further visits
Hotel looked newly built or newly renovated. Very clean, well maintained property. Limited but good complementary breakfast. Good location and quiet surroundings. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Our room was not clean, very dark, complimentary breakfast was not offered everyday (which was not on the website) and the breakfast we did get the 1 day we could did not taste good at all and was not kid friendly. Our room was changed by staff when we arrived (downgraded) with no price change.
3/9/2022 I have been using this hotel for years! It's always clean and the staff always welcoming. My last stay (last year) proved a bit challenging. I communicated with the front desk and was told they would make it up to me on my next stay. WELL, let me tell you! I stayed there a few days ago, as I had received notice of my citizenship ceremony and had to drive in from the US. When I opened the door of the room I was given my mouth dropped! A beautiful suite! King size bed, jacuzzi tub, 2 large tv's, fridge and microwave! I was not expecting this at all, didn't even know this room existed! They made sure I had everything I needed and more! They assisted in helping me scan documents that needed to be sent back as a completion of my ceremony. It was so beautiful and I was so exhausted I stayed another night, I can't tell you what this did for my piece of mind. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was supportive and happy for me, honestly felt like home! A big and special shout-out to Julie at the desk who was there for me from the last stay to this present stay! Best Western is very blessed to have employees like her! I can't wait to return in September!
Had a nice experience. Nice room friendly helpful staff. The rooms were large enough and we actually had a suite which was huge and very good . The rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful and we definetely will be going back in the spring.
Great place for Pets, doors to outside from ground level rooms makes it easy to walk your Pet. Just need outdoor garbage cans for Scooped Pet feces. They need to NOT have white bed coverings for Pet Friendly rooms or provide a cover for the WHITE top. I was afraid my dogs paws would dirty it after being outside.
The stay was really pleasant and they have very cozy rooms! Nice and quite for the beat prices and the lounge below is really nice , great food offered within premises! Staff was always available and very accommodating
The hotel is easily accessible and close to points of interest. I was there for a job assignment and it was a very easy 10 minute drive to work. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again if the opportunity arises.
The front desk clerk was very helpful and accommodating because I asked for an upgrade and she took the time to look for me. But this hotel only had king beds for an update so I thanked her very much and said we will just stay where we are. We like the two queen beds . Completely satisfied with the room and the grab and go breakfast was perfect. Also enjoyed having the restaurant attached where we could enjoy our dinner and not have to go outside because it was raining.
Nice place. And close to some amenities. No more than 5 minutes to any direction you may reach restaurants, parks, stores, Gas stations, etc. The pool was clean and by appointment. The room was clean and organized. The bathroom is ok. The corridors smell clean. Friendly staff.
It was a great experience at the hotel. Customer service was great and the housekeepers were friendly which is a plus. The suite was comfortable and breakfast was good. Location is excellent and close to the USA border and the marina. You can go for a walk along the St. Clair River. Internet service is excellent and the amenities are great. There is a gym and outdoor swimming pool which I did not get to use due to the workload for the time. It is a great place to stay.
We only stayed for one evening but our experience was great. Front desk staff was friendly, check in and out was fast. The bar / lounge was nice for a late night drink and appetizer. We didn't get a chance to use it but the pool area looked very nice too. I also really appreciate hotels that allow pets as we have a very senior dog and we don't like leaving him at a kennel if it's just for one or two nights away.
Close to casino, boat watching, Tim Hortons. Rooms were small but clean, breakfast not worth getting, restaurant on site open at 4, good food but slow service. Not good for people with mobility issues
Came from Toronto for 3 days! The hotel has a great outdoor pool with cabanas and it's close to the beach and downtown. This is a 3 star hotel in Sarnia it's great for a vacation stay but it's not the four seasons. Staff was nice and restaurant is great!
The room was great. We have a small dog with us and everything worked out nicely. The decor was a little dated but the rooms had nice large LG flat screen tvs. It will be even better when they are able to open up the restaurant and the pool.
Excellent location and hotel is clean. Lobby is modern and well decorated. Rooms are dated and could use some upgrades, they feel like 1980. That being said they are clean. Restaurant is open but sadly the gym is still closed.
A very comfortable, clean hotel with very welcoming staff. I stayed at the hotel as Covid restrictions moved to Phase 2 and felt very comfortable with all of the accommodations that had been made. I also traveled with a small dog and was provided with a ground floor room with outdoor access.
Awesome hotel with amazing staff. They were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. Everyone we had contact with was helpful and smiling. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good value for money. Would definitely stay there again.
We visited this hotel for a wedding this last week-end and the property and staff were top notch. The front counter staff were very polite and professional. Being a smaller hotel it felt like all the conference rooms were taken by the party. As we were not staying on site due to being close by, we did not stay in a room but we had family members that did. The rooms we saw were both double rooms nicely appointed and in very good decoration and condition. The rooms had a good sized closet, a nice fridge and TV. For the reception the staff included servers and a bar and the service was quick efficient and very friendly. The location is very close to the bridge to USA and just off the 402 and close to amenities and shopping. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a wedding or stay.
The staff here, from the front desk to the restaurant, are wonderful. Rooms a bit dated, but very clean and comfortable. Affordable to rent a room for our hockey team to eat together. Customer service was top notch!
the Plus Guildwood Inn is a great hotel. It is located spot in close to downtown, and the border but is in a quiet location in Sarnia. I love the included breakfast. The pool is a nice added touch for the summer.
We stayed at the Best Western in Sarnia for 1 night in Dec 2019. The stay was nice, the price was very reasonable for a family suite. The service was excellent. The reservation was mistakenly made for the Honeymoon suite and someone emailed me the day before explaining that we were changed to a Family suite, which made much more sense to us. Upon check in, we got a text message asking if our room was ok and when asked to send up 2 wine glasses, they arrived within minutes. Was a very nice touch. The lobby is nicely decorated for the season and the room was spacious. The beds were of average comfort. Overall a very nice stay in Sarnia for 1 night.
Everything was great right from making my reservation to being greeted when I arrived. Julie on the front desk was the best. My room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. I would not hesitate to return. Breakfast at the restraunt was tasty.
I have always stayed at Best Western and this is the first time I was totally upset. After men yelling and slamming doors I tried to call the front desk after trying for 20 mins nobody ever answered the phone. When the drunk men were smoking inside down the hall my husband walked to the front desk to complain. They said they would take care of it . But it continued next was profanity yelled , this is to be a safe place I don't feel safe. We won't be back .
Seemed ok at first and woman at desk was nice. However thing went downhill. People smoking in rooms and in hallway. Stink filters through all the rooms. Noise and yelling in hallway. Drunks outside room. Finally called front desk and nobody answered. So I went to the desk and the guy was right there. He said he would look into it. I also had an expensive motorcycle in the parking lot on a trailer so was not feeling that was safe either. No we will not be staying here again and would not recommend this place to anyone. No idea how this place got recognized as a great place to stay because it was not for us.
We got what we paid for, room in fair condition. No breakfast on weekends so had to make trip out and back to McDonald's. Also find pet fee high and deep cleaning leaves a febreezy smell in room. We only allow our pets on non-carpeted area of room at entry way, but others do not which requires more cleaning of rooms.
Great stay on oct 10th, staff was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Great location, close to the bridge into the States, and also close to shopping in the sarnia area. Restaurant was convenient and food was good.
Pros: Good beds and pillows. Excellent employees. Attached to a decent restaurant. Clean room. Dog friendly...gave our pup a biscuit. Right over the US/Canada border. I liked that they had a recycling bin in our room. Cons: Rooms were dated and needed a face lift. They were also small and there wasn't a lot of space to move around in. The bathroom was small and there was no fan so our room got pretty hot. They had the "community" shampoo, conditioner and body soap on the wall of the shower. I hate them even though this seems to be the trend now. It's a germ thing with me. And, the conditioner container was out anyway. Breakfast was below par. At least we were only staying for one night.
Staff very friendly, hotel is in good condition, very clean Complimentary breakfast was a la carte rather than buffet which is nice change Shower water pressure could be a bit better, but shouldn't be a deal breaker
Have just switched to this hotel after 20 years of visiting Sarnia. Good for BW but just makes the plus grade due to wider range of facilities. Staff are all good, fresh breakfast is better than usual buffet and evening bar/food is nice to have in hotel and save a walk. Shrimp are excellent, avoid the soggy pizza Fitness center is good but needs yoga mat and TV switching on early am. On last two visits got a bad smell of smoking and they quickly switched. This time the humidity was very high and made sleeping difficult, so they should check room conditions when cleaning. Good but could be better I think.
I like this hotel due to its location and it is very nice.. I have stayed here for the past 20 years on my way home. It is the midway point of my trip home and meets my needs perfectly. I have used Best Western Points to pay for the room on occasion but this time I had insufficient but the desk man said as a loyalty gesture he would reduce the rate .
Great staff, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really good. The room was clean and tidy but it smelled of old smoke. Just trying to fill up the 200 characters now. Not much else to say really. It was a one night business tirp and i needed a place to sleep. My usual hotel was full so i stayed here. It was nice and the bed was comfy. But, it had an old smoke smell and was quite noisy at night ... i think the walls may be quite thin or need some insulation
The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were very nice and professional. My room was clean upon arrival and the cleaning service was great. I was upgraded from a regular room to a suite with no extra costs..That was a treat.... The hotel is just minutes from the Casino and the river boardwalk.
Adequate about sums it up. Construction in the parking lot creates and issue and the complimentary breakfast was nowhere to be found. Building on the tired side. Not really a Best Western Plus grade establishment.
We booked a non-smoking room at this property and when we opened the door we were hit with a very strong smell of cigarette smoke and there was no way we could have stayed in that room. I immediately called the front desk and asked for another room, but she said they were booked up. I then asked to check out and she did grant us that and it was appreciated. I expected more from at Best Western Plus.
Excellent hotel, good location close to beach and downtown. Clean updated rooms friendly staff. Great outdoor pool. Lacks elevator in the one wing so could be a problem for some people. Have stayed there many times with no problems.
First be careful when you book, I was booking through the Hotel itself, I thought, but when all was over and done it turned out it was a third party booking sight, we really got over charged for the room!
It was the perfect spot from which to get an early-morning start across the Blue Water Bridge into Michigan. We were greated pleasantly, checked in without a problem and directed to our room. We found the room comfortable, nicely sized, and easily accessed--having an exit to the parking lot and plenty of parking near the door. The room was well-lit, unlike some other places we have stayed. There were also plenty of places to plug in electronics, which often a problem. A couple places where attention to detail is needed: First, the lawn/grounds crew should clean up a bit better. Our private entrance, complete with a small patio, had fresh mower clipping, including a couple clumps, on it. We also had a bit of trouble getting the heat/ac/fan regulated. It may have been our unfamiliarity with the equipment, or poorly worded instructions; but it may have been a faulty controler. We forgot to mention it to the staff upon checkout, which we would normally do. Should we need an overnight stay in the area again. It's on our list to revisit. We wouldn't be afraid of it at all.
The reservation was easy/ the check in friendly and efficent/the room exactly what we wanted service through out the day great/ local knowledge of places to go to was professional/special interest places were shown on maps so we would not get lost
I have stayed at this Best Western a few times. I like that they have lower level walkout rooms. The hotel rooms have been recently updated. Rooms are clean and comfortable. My husband and I both were very impressed.
room 111, NO a/c, temp was set at 60 still no a/c and super noisy, did not sleep that night, did not contact front desk as it was late when we got back to room, room was musty smelling and needs to be updated, grounds are under construction but no reason to have garbage laying around, holes in the ground by back of pool where the pictures were done, many fell in them, should be filled in or roped off, luckily no one was hurt. New hotel going up next door which is really going to hurt them.
Staff was very accommodating. We had two king rooms and wanted to switch one room to two queen beds and they did with no problem. Rooms were clean and bed had good choice of pillows. Only suggestion would be to include breakfast.
So convenient to all the events going on for the weekend. Room was clean and cozy. Would have been tight if we had people sleeping on our sofa bed. Air conditioner very noisy and bathroom tiny. But the service was top notch, managed to get in our room for 1030am when checkin wasn't till 2. Front desk more then accommodating to check your luggage. If you have plans near the waterfront please add this place to your list.
Overall a very good spot to stay in a medium priced motel/inn (with complimentary breakfast per day). I felt well looked after for several days at a time as a single senior lady and with family(adult sons) on different visits related to family estate business. We were all satisfied about food, quietness, good rooms, good beds, lovely location near bridge and water and social media connections with small office near front desk.TV connections and reception were not great but too busy to watch much TV. Will be back again soon!
We often choose BW hotels when travelling and this one was disappointing. Clean & comfortable beds but hotel in general is tired & in need of updating (it currently appears a new 6 storey addition to open next door?!) It was clearly stated in a Google descrip. that a “hot breakfast was included” - 1st thing in morning we were told at front desk that breakfast “was only provided on weekdays” - what?? A wedding & reception was going on the previous night in the adjoining restaurant so people were loudly walking down hallways, slamming & banging on doors, etc. into the wee hours of the morning. Why can't they come up with better AC units in hotel rms?! We needed to use it with the outside heatwave - it ran sporadically and we had to keep getting up to it turn on - very annoying Must say that since this stay, my husband did send a review to Best Western Guildwood Sarnia - we've received a partial refund (for no bkfst!) and they are seeing to correcting the Google “description”, plus an apology - so have to hand them that!
The staff and management of this hotel are exceptional in every degree - rain made a disaster of our wedding event and they saved the day in heroic fashion. They got us moved inside - managed to dry the chair and table coverings, found replacement dry chairs, and all in under an hour. Not one thing was missed in their efforts to make this wedding amazing. I can not say enough good about the people in this establishment - especially the event coordinator!!
This hotel is an excellent value, inexpensive with great rates, a very helpful staff, a good restaurant attached to the hotel for breakfast and dinner, and a convenient location. The Internet portal could use a bit more flexibility, but that's not likely to be an issue for most guests.
People make the difference. While the property is older, it is extremely well maintained, very clean, great towels, very reasonably priced hotel with great food and drinks. The staff here are second to none. We were at the Guildwood Inn to celebrate our daughter's wedding. The staff went out of their way to make sure our every need was met. This past Saturday late in the afternoon, minutes before our daughter's ceremony a severe thunderstorm passed through Sarnia, completely soaking everything, including ceremony site chairs and covers. This hotel stopped everything and came up with another option for the ceremony very quickly -then took the chair covers removed them, dried them and relocated to indoor site. This caused a delay, which would normally mean that the catered dinner would be ruined, but it was amazing - the prime rib was cooked to perfection, not overdone along with all of the other menu items. I cannot thank Sandy (the wedding coordinator on site) and her staff for going above and beyond. Great job to everyone from the front desk staff, housekeepers (who worked diligently to get those chair covers dried), to the kitchen staff, bar staff - everyone really worked as a team. Will be our hotel of choice visiting Sarnia.
Warm friendly staff. The hotel is nice and clean with comfortable beds. The restaurant has a good variety and is reasonably priced. I have enjoyed 8 stays at this location in 2019 and will continue to going forward.
This hotel is located close to the border and is easily accessible. The hotel next door is being built so there was a lot of construction which made parking a bit of a mess. The customer experience is excellent but hotel is tired and in bad need of updates. Seems to be lots of new builds in the area.
Stayed at Best Western Sarnia, staff were very friendly and informative, rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Towels were bigger then ones received in other hotels. Would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Sarnia
We stayed on a weekend, Room was ok, clean, and beds were very comfortable, the coffee maker was however very dirty! I am a light sleeper so I couldn't sleep, there were 5 guys making so much noise, talking on the corridor all night and smoking marijuana. After complaining several times to the front desk, nothing happened. We put a towel on the floor against the door, so the smell wouldn't come inside the room. There is a single corridor that is shared with all the rooms, so if you're a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend staying here, at least not on a weekend. TripAdvisor says they have free breakfast, however it's not specified anywhere that is only free - Monday through Friday. On the weekend is a la carte. I mentioned this to the front desk in the morning and she offered us breakfast, which was very kind of her. Breakfast however was not very impressive, it was just basic, eggs, toast and potatoes. Nothing else. Comparing to other Best Westerns it was very poor. We also had dinner at the hotel, and overall no complaints. Just a bit overpriced for what we had. The hotel and rooms looked a bit old, but it was clean and that matters most.
The only thing I would have liked better is that breakfast should have started at 6 am. I was greeted right away and made felt right at home. I really liked the restaurant right on sight so I didn't have to drive or get a cab.
Everything at the hotel was fine and as expected. OF note, the young man at the desk named Tyler was really helpful when I had a need to get some business copies made for a seminar the next day. It was late and with good cheer he helped me get copies needed and then went beyond the call and helped me staple them. I really appreciate his attitude and would return just because of his thoughtfulness. Please tell this young man his actions had the consequence of building a loyal customer. Thanks TYLER.
Room was in good shape, I had to use the iron and it worked fine. I had breakfast and dinner and both of the meals were good and service was good. It was easy to get onto the main highway and there was a Tim Horton's only a minute away.
It is a clean Best Western, although the rooms are outdated and showing wear. The location is great- close to the border and close to downtown. They service was very good from the front desk to housekeeping. It is expensive however for a weekend away for a hockey tournament and does not have an indoor pool and does not include breakfast for weekend stays.
We stayed at hotel for night as my husband's company had their annual Christmas party there. It was a buffet dinner and we had forgot to request a vegan option. The staff were very kind to prepare a vegan pasta for us and quickly brought to us while the rest of our table were enjoying their dinners. This far exceeded my expectations that despite a busy dinner service, they were able to quickly accommodate us.
I booked 2 rooms at the Guildwood Inn, Sarnia Ontario. I received excellent service from Jordan when I made the reservations, He was extremely helpful and made sure I had the proper room selections for the 2 rooms I needed. When were checked in the 2 rooms, they had upgraded one room to a King and placed us in a different wing of the hotel, but when I mentioned we asked for rooms close to our daughter and her family, they very quickly made the change so we had rooms next to each other. They were very efficient in making these changes and it made us all very happy. Access to the internet was quick and very easy to use with excellent quality. We went to the breakfast buffet in the morning and were a little disappointed with the quality of the eggs we received, but the rest of our buffet was very good, with the sausages and bacon tasty and warm. The buffet had good variety of choices to eat and we left satisfied with the overall experience. I had the opportunity to speak with Tyler on the afternoon shift, and he told us a lot about the city and the construction going on at the hotel. He was very courteous and I enjoyed speaking with him. Out check out was very efficient and quick. Our receipts were ready for me when I arrived at the front desk. The reception clerk apologized that we were not offered express check out, but I told her it wasn't that important. Overall, our experience was very enjoyable and we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and relatives, and will stay there the next time we need quality rooms in Sarnia.
I stayed at the Best western for a business meeting i arrived on the Sunday for an early morning meeting. The front desk was very friendly and remembered me by name even thought I had not been there for awhile. My room was comfortable and the free breakfast in the morning was a great way to start my day.
Stayed here, on business, for two weeks in July. Friendly, courteous staff and reasonable rates. No complaints only compliments. Highly recommended for those staying in the area, especially for those here long term.
This is a great place to stay when on a business trip in Sarnia (Pointe Edward). It was clean and efficient. I used every amenity except the pool. The restaurant was clean and very nice looking - plenty of hockey! Food was ok (my steak was overcooked and that's the only issue, but it's a BIG ONE for me).
My girlfriend and I arrived after a ten hour drive from Saint Bruno Quebec to be greeted by a very friendly young man.It was a nice relief to be welcomed in such a polite and kind manner. The room was very clean and comfortable as were the pillows and king size bed, very comfortable. We had a small issue with the tv which was taken care of by another very friendly man I assume was the manager. The breakfast that was included was barely edible. I had the scrambled eggs with sausage and potatoes. Couldn't get the waitress's attention when she said she would be back with a refill of coffee, she never came back, ever! We ended up just leaving. Wasn't the greatest experience. The second day the menu breakfast you pay for was terrific and the coffee was always coming. We were a huge group 30 or more and the few people they had working did a tremendous job including the cook. Any requests we had were met immediately. Room service was excellent as was the food. Just the one unpleasant first free breakfast Friday morning. All of the other staff and food after that were great.
We stopped for a night on our trip after leaving Michigan. The location (within just yards of the border) couldn't be more convenient. The place is clean, rooms are quiet and the staff is very friendly. We plan to stop on our way back through Canada.
Hotel is quite nice and rooms very comfortable. The beds were the best I have been in for a long time. The grounds are lovely. There is a restaurant on site that was okay for breakfast. The ice and pop machines were not working but the front desk sent ice to our room. My only complaint would be lack of handicap parking. There was only 1 designated spot at the back of the hotel and we had a very long walk to the doors. With mobility issues this was a challenge. I could only see one at the front as well but there may have been more. I would suggest they designate one or two more for the guests who enter hotel from the large back parking lot.
The Best Western Plus, Guildwood Inn, was chosen by our team manager for a Baseball tournament in Sarnia and environs. The property was clean, competent, and mostly average but with a few notable items. The room is about average size for a budget properties, the Queen size beds are indeed Queen size (and not over-hyped Full size beds as some cheaper hotels employ). Some of the budget aspects include just a single night stand between the two beds and only two bedside lamps, these latter over the night stand. There is one armchair in the room that I pressed into service as my makeshift night stand. One unexpected nicety were the two packs of Oreo cookies left for us on the night stand. Also, the digital clock featured a couple of USB charging ports and a couple of electrical outlets. The desk in the room, a small table really, features a task lamp and also offers a couple of electrical outlets. It's always nice not to have to crawl under a table to find an outlet. The desk is paired with a proper workstation chair, with casters and adjustable seat height and seat back. For the bathroom, the noteworthy items are the two complimentary bottles of water, thank you, and the in shower - soap, shampoo, and conditioner via a mounted dispenser. This latter is not uncommon but can be a surprise to those that prefer bar soaps and shampoos and conditioner in bottles. For HVAC, the unit has the typical (older style) under window unit that also houses the controls and thermostat. The instructions added by the hotel are to set the thermostat into the 50s when using air conditioning and we found that a setting of 58F was about right for us. It required a bit of faith to actually put in the recommended setting, especially as earlier in the year, we had a room where the room temperature was in the low 50s and we had to turn on the heat (in June). The unit was not excessively noisy nor particularly quiet for the type. The location it very near to Highway 402, and is access from the last exit before crossing the border. It was a pleasant enough stay and we would not object to staying here again.
Great rest stop just as we crossed the border after a long night of driving. Great room with a lot of extras. Breakfast is a great deal, which is included in the room price. Not your typical buffet breakfast but a sit down with several choices. Great service will make it our stop on the way to or from the cottage.
We stayed at this hotel for a weekend and had an issue with the room but it was dealt with in a timely manner and they resolved the issue to our satisfaction. Hotel in great location in sarnia to enjoy the waterfront.
Very clean and comfortable, staff very friendly and professional. I did not visit the restaurant but I have heard of positive things of about it. It's located near the border crossing and the casino and downtown as well.
Check-in was easy and told I got an upgrade, okay. Once you turn water on the only sink in the room, plumbing issue, no drainage. Front desk sent house keeping who could not remedy the issue. Went back to front desk and told, maintenance guy is out till Tuesday. I am only here for one night, what they going to handle next guest? No available rooms to move to. How this can be a Best Western Plus?
I loved the service from the time I called in to make a booking. Kyla made an excellent first impression taking the time and patience to answer all my questions. This was our first time taking our pet to a hotel and I am SO GLAD we chose the Best Western. We expected to have a pet odor in the room but I can honestly say that I was astounded at the exceptionally clean room with zero pet odor. Everything in the hotel from the clean grounds to the hallways were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was made to order with choices ranging from traditional eggs to healthy choices like yogurt, pancakes and fresh bagels. Thank you Edwina for the tips on places to see in the area ... they were most helpful. Also thanks to Amy for the smooth check out. Kudos to the staff who take so much trouble to keep the rooms maintained to such high standards. I would most definitely recommend this hotel.
We booked our stay online 24 hours in advance. When we arrived there was a line waiting to check in and no one was at the desk. It took several minutes before anyone came to the desk. When we tried to check in, the receptionist couldn't find our reservation so we got downgraded from a king bedroom to a room with two queen beds. It sounded like they had overbooked the type of room we booked and paid for online. Additionally, we always try to look for hotels with a complimentary breakfast and when we booked we were under the impression that one was included. Turns out, the breakfast is only available on week days and today is a Saturday. Kind of a bummer. We stopped by the weight room but it seemed like it hadn't been attended in a while because the water container was empty. The room is decently clean but the walls are extremely thin and we can hear all of our neighboring guests quite clearly. This might not be an ideal stop if you have children who make a lot of noise in the night. Overall, it is an affordable and decent spot to stop if you're traveling through, but be sure to plan a Tim Hortons run for breakfast if you come on a weekend.
Attending a wedding this weekend so booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for our family. The rooms I wanted were not available. I love room 102 but we were given 122 and 118. 102 is spacious and just everything I want in a room. 122 and 118 were on the ground floor which I love, 1 bed per room which is another thing I want. The room was small, price was cheaper than 102. The bathroom clean and updated which is another thing I prefer to see. The bed super comfortable, we slept well, the linen felt nice. The only complaint we had is that the air was not working all that well. We had it turned down to 58 before we could feel cool and the fridge did not seem cold. My husband had to pull it forward out of the cupboard and turn the temp down. Pool was nice and under used which was lovely for us. Looked like they had a nice gym. We asked for a late check out which was graciously agreed upon and check out was 12:30. We went out in the early morning, back by 11:30 and we were locked out of our room, a cleaning lady let us into our room as apparently our key pass had been deactivated. All minor inconveniences, I would stay here again. As for the wedding, nice venue. Very delicious food. Several people were vegetarian which was catered to. Vegetarian plates were brought out and then they could also help themselves to the buffet. Melt in your mouth prime rib, chicken and the creamiest penne alfredo, delicious salads, truly a good meal. The only negative thing I could say is that I and other guests felt rushed. I felt like I was literally rushing through my food. My husband was finishing his main meal and I had brought him cake, coffee was already served and the wait staff asked if he was done with his coffee and cake as they were reaching to take it away. I heard other guests make the same comment. When I was finished dinner it felt like I had eaten too fast, because basically I had, it was not a relaxing atmosphere. Had a great time, it was fun wedding.
As Platinum Card members BW is usually our first choice for accommodations since we travel often. Guildwood Inn is right at the top in excellence, a welcome experience as we enter Canada and hopefully another one as we depart for the States next week.
We really liked this hotel. The location was good. It was easy to get to with plenty of parking. There was a visitor centre right across the street. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was good also and was included in the price.
Stayed on business. Hotel was sold out so I thought I might experience some noisy nights but was pleasantly surprised!! Bed's were comfy! Restaurant is convenient and breakfast was included (limited menu) along with Wifi. Wifi performance varied but was consistently reliable. Great location in proximity to unique waterfront restaurants. Really enjoyed my stay!!
We stay here whenever we are in town for work and always enjoy the hotel. The breakfast at the restaurant is very good and the rooms are always clean . The wifi strength is great and has never failed us during any of our stays
Had the ultimate best visit at this hotel. Fantastic service when we arrived , got a great room with complimentary breakfast after a long day driving, this was best service ever!!! Would recommend this hotel to everyone!!! We will definitely be back, thank you??
The room was nice, and it was clean. However these rooms are some of the smallest I found in a Best Western. What we liked very much however, was the outside door. This allowed us access to bring our luggage into the room, and access to step out for fresh air. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is no complimentary breakfast at this hotel, as there is an attached restaurant at this hotel.
Cozy hotel, clean and friendly staff. Loved the motel style doors on the main floor making it easy to get in and out. We didnt have to walk through the hotel! Perfect location if you want to go across to USA, or enjoy the fries under the bridge or hit the Casino.
Older hotel that had been renovated nicely. Room was small but clean. Visited for business travel, dessk was a little small. Beds were soooo comfortable. I had the best nights sleep. Restaurant was nice but limited items.
I would give customer service a super plus rating, especially Katy at the front desk, she certainly made us feel important as a customer. Room was clean, and roomy with a very comfortable bed, internet worked great. Breakfast really hit the spot prior to getting on the road the next morning, hot breakfast served to order at your table worth a big cup of delicious hot coffee.
Nicely designed rooms - clean and comfortable. I love that they don't use the disposable toiletries but rather have a dispenser machine in the shower. I really loved that. (Great for the environment) The gym was well lit with a few great machines. Two tv's for your viewing pleasure. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They also offer a breakfast box to go in the morning. They help you start your day off right! All around fantastic place to stay while in Sarnia, ON
Professional, helpful and welcoming staff, quick check in and check out. We had a room with a king bed, which had a super comfortable mattress and pillows. Nice sized desk to work on. My only negative is that there weren't enough easily accessible electrical outlets, I had to reach under the desk to plug in the coffee maker. The hotel was very clean and had a nice fresh smell in the hallways, our room and the public areas, easy to see that the staff take pride in their workplace. I liked that our room was accessible from inside as well as outside, which made bringing our stuff in and out easy. There is a restaurant onsite so we ordered room service for dinner, although the food is expensive, the portion size was large and the potato skins were delicious, we went in for breakfast, again expensive and my eggs benny could have been better, the english muffin was under cooked but the breakfast my husband had was good. If we work in Sarnia again we look forward to returning to this hotel. The wedding food was among the best we have ever had!
There are quite a few hotel options in Sarnia and the Best Western is one of the better options. The rooms are a reasonable size a d the bed is quite comfortable. There are enough plug-in spaces for all of the modern electronics that we have to recharge at night these days. The television has good resolution and the remote control comes in a little bag for germaphobes. This hotel, like a few of the others in town, has grown incrementally over the years and this means that rooms at a distance from the main desk may be more easily accessed from other doors than the main entrance. Also, the restaurant is a long walk from a room at the other end of the wing. Good exercise opportunity really, unless you have a disability, in which case, ask for a more central room.
I was here for a wedding and stayed 3 nights. The first room I was given had bed bug detectors under the mattress (meaning the hotel knew there was a problem) and black dots all over the mattress cover. I would not recommend staying here until you know how to check for bed bugs and could be moved to a different floor/wing of the hotel. I would have left after the first night but, like I mentioned, I was here for a wedding. The room we got moved to had no issues and staff were friendly and helpful.
Great place to stay ..staff is excellent .. always remember when we book that we have our dog Maggie and remember her name.rooms are very clean.. enjoy the free breakfast. Close to Casino Point Edward..
Stopped here on the way from NY to MI and the hotel was in a great location for crossing the border into Canada. From arrival to departure, the staff was ridiculously friendly and exceeded all expectations. The hotel was nice inside and very clean. Love that it is pet friendly. We were placed in a wing that has a door both to inside the hotel and one to the outside (like a motel), which was great for letting our pup out quickly in the frigid temps! We used the fitness center which was perfect for our needs. Breakfast in the morning was complimentary and sufficient. The room itself was clean and large enough for us. The bathroom was a little small but the tub was a decent size and they even provided nice-smelling bath salts to relax with! I recall the bed and linens were suuuuper comfy for a restful sleep before we got back on the road. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!
I was only there 1 night DEC 28/ 29. First walked into room you could see rug had not been vacummed. so I started looking around the room. the iron had water in it and the cord was hanging. there was also no bath mat in the shower area just 1 on the jacuzzi. also no pen in the folder
When Best Western is pet friendly and available it is almost always our choice. Not the cheapest but clean, friendly and good value. We plan our trips around hotels near interstates and Best Western is the first place we check.
The Beat Western Plus hotel in Sarnia, ON. is an example of what can be done to make a hotel worth it's eight in gold. This hoyel is very old but do not lwt this fool you. This hotel has kept up and made renovations when required. The new decor from the rooms to the lobby to the workout room is all very eye catching and spectacular. The owners of this hotel have obviously spent a lot of time and money and hiring and thoroughly training only the best of employees.. From comfy beds to showers with all soaps and shampoo dispensers to the breakfast, all is a cut above what you are expecting. What a wonderful feeling. We'll be back and I will sing you praises to my fellow travellers.
On this particular stay we were in room 127. It is drafty and cold. On a previous stay, we were in a more comfortable room. The hotel is attractive, clean and comfortable with a professional and courteous staff. I highly recommend it but stay away from the end rooms in the winter.
My Husband and I where heading to Florida and stayed here before we crossed the border. We will be definitely staying there on the way back home. The beds are so comfortable that my Husband said it was the best sleep he's ever had.
The booking was made so easy by Julie. When I got there Katie was great and had everything ready and with a smile. Hot breakfast at restaurant was above average for this style of Hotel. Good experience all around. Room wand bed were great.
We stayed here on our first night of our travels down south .... was great! They had good parking for our RV and excellent staff and clean rooms and accommodated our two dogs with no issue! The Restaurant in the hotel was a pleasant surprise with friendly staff and good food........we will be back!!!!
Hotel is really nice and everyone one there are very friendly, Katie will help you with anything you might need. Been at this location a few times. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of traveling to Sarnia.
I wanted to have a nice stay on my business trip. I travel a lot. However, the Best Western Guildwood Inn is a two storey motel. I was put in a room on the first floor with a walkout to the parking lot from the room (when I specifically had asked for a room on the second floor. They would not change the room even though the front door latch was broken and I was a female traveling alone. I ordered room service and they forgot a spoon for my soup and sour cream for my potato skins (as advertised). Breakfast was complimentary, but you only get three choices -eggs, pancakes or healthy option (small fruit salad, bagel and tea). The waitress forgot to bring a nice even though it was advertised as included. Ordering off the menu was extra. I could not make these numerous mistakes up. All of these things - the location of the room, personal safety and getting meal orders correct are important. It was not their fault, but you should know that if you input the address in your GPS, this motel does not appear to be in Sarnia. It is a little confusing. Also, when you get there, the GPS says the motel is a 1/2 mile away. So, watch for the signs.
Excellent location for 402 access as well as local to medical facilities. Has a very good restaurant on site with a complimentary breakfast offering that is exceptional. Secure access options aside from the main lobby.
In the area on business, Best Western Plus is our companies choice for all corporate. and management accommodations. We all enjoy the hotel, restaurant and lounge, no need to go anywhere else to relax after a long day.
This was an unplanned trip for a funeral of a family member. When I booked, I requested the first floor because I was told that there wasn't any elevator. When we arrived, We were on the 2nd floor. A good thing even if I requested the 1st floor. There were teams that filled the 1st floor rooms. It was nice that the front desk staff were thinking about their guests. The front desk staff were awesome! The room was very clean and comfortable. The room seemed small mainly because the two queen sized beds took up lots of space. The heating/AC was the quietest I've ever heard in a hotel!! Just a few little things. The phone on the night stand next to the bed needed to be replaced as the charging light on the phone flashed continuously. Yet on the base the charged light was lit. The TV is a nice size. At least 42", But it only had basic cable. Also it only had analog channels. No HD at all. The fridge worked well. Actually to well. It partially froze everything. I requested a microwave. I received it later the first day. It worked fine. The clock on the night stand. I could not figure out how to set the correct time on it. So I left it alone. The bathroom is fine, but the toilet is low for sitting on. The lighting above the mirror is ok but it could be brighter for the ladies to apply their makeup. There is a heat lamp in the ceiling. A sign that this is an old hotel. The pool is outside. Fine for the hot Summers in Sarnia. But it's November. Closed for the season. It would have been used a lot this trip. The WiFi is good. The business centre is good. The exercise room is small though. The attached restaurant is a Sports Bar. The free breakfast is only available Monday to Friday with limited options. Parking is free with some drive up to your room spaces. The hotel is in a great location. Close to Highway 402, the US border crossing and close to downtown. Everything that we needed on this trip was very close to this hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was because the other hotels close by that I would normally stay at were booked solid. The structure of this hotel is old. The interior has been remodeled a few times. It's not a big hotel. Only 2 floors. As far as I know there isn't wheelchair access to the second floor. The hotel was very quiet and the price was very reasonable. (We had the funeral rate) Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend this place? Yes. If my go to place was unavailable.
Very pleased with comfortable room and bed.Good quality complimentary breakfast. Friendly service by all personell. Upgraded room. Could not be more satisfied with stay away from home on business. Julie at the front desk does an amazing job.
The hotel is close enough to the bridge to be convenient yet far enough to be quiet and have nice grounds. Reception staff were friendly & helpful (recommended Salvatore's Trattoria Ristorante- great!). We'd booked an Executive King but they upgraded us to a suite. Even without the extra space, this was great value. The room was very clean and very well appointed - coffee, mini-fridge, soaps & creams, etc. the attached restaurant is also very convenient and breakfast was good. This BW made for a convenient and comfortable stop on our trip.
This hotel is by far the best well staffed you will ever encounter. The rooms are well maintained and welcoming. The beds are a welcome relief after a long travel. I have only one issue and that there pool is only a seasonal feature.
I stayed at the best western for 2 nights for business the front desk are always friendly remember my name from past stays . The restaurant has just been redone it was a nice refresh and the staff were great.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough ! Service was excellent from front desk , to house keeping to restaurant staff . Bed was very comfortable and the pillows the best we have had in a hotel in years. Food in the restaurant was excellent especially breakfast ( free Monday to Friday ) . We will definitely be staying there again .
We arrived late thurs. night and asked if there was anywhere to grab a bite to eat. We were told that the bar was open for another 20 min. We sat at the bar and greeted by the bartender that couldnt be more friendly. She took our order ( saying no rush) and offered to put a new pot of coffee on for me if I wanted some. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast there was outstanding. Great service and food. We usually drive to John's for breakfast....No need to now. This place beats it.
Had another wonderful stay at the Best Western - Guildwood Inn. The (check-in) hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful as always. Always greeting customers in a hospitable friendly manner. The rooms were very clean! Will definitely come back again!
This is a wonderful hotel to stay at as its location and nearness to all the major roads and highway is good. It is well clean and the help of front desk is amazing. In comparison to other location of group of hotels, I prefer the Best Western as my first priority. I will always recommend any friend or other groups of friends looking for accommodation to chose best western as their first option.
The room, hotel & surroundings met expectations. The hotel is well located for cross border traffic. The real joy was an "order off the menu" full breakfast. This was a real plus when compared to other hotel/motels.
We stopped after crossing the border on our return from a business trip in Tennessee. We had been there for a week, but the bed at this hotel was superior to the one we had in a Radisson hotel. We were exhausted, but the bedding was so comfy it was so relaxing. Breakfast in the restaurant was great too! I loved the many paintings hanging in the halls throughout the hotel.
It was a great place to stay. Close to the water, casino, nightlife and downtown attractions. sadly, the continental breakfast is limited to weekdays only. Restaurant has a limited selection but great food with marvelous flavour and at a reasonable price. Happily stay here anytime!
I spent 5 months in Sarnia for work. The hotel staff were all amazing, from the front desk to the waitress at the bar/lounge, to the cleaning staff. I found it to be very quiet considering there were many weddings throughout the summer and it would fill up. Had the occasional brats running the halls, but otherwise had no complaints service wise. The room was great and the bed was amazing. There is lots to do in the immediate area, and within short distances there are many other options for activities from golf to beaches. Will stay again if ever back that way.
We were traveling from Ohio to Toronto to attend a Blue Jays Game. Having had good experiences with Best Western Plus locations and based on TripAdvisor reviews, we booked a room. As others have said, the room was very small but adequate for our needs. I found the bed comfy but my husband complained that his side rolled to the middle. Overall, though, we were well pleased with the value of the hotel. We did eat breakfast in the hotel and it was standard hotel provided fare. Just fine for our needs. Staff was pleasant. I would recommend this hotel for a quick overnight!
Attended this location with friends to visit the marina. The rooms are dated but clean. You can hear everything in your room from people in the parking lot talking and in the hallways. The price was right since they offer a marina discount. There is a gate at the rear to enter the marina which was convenient.
Great Hotel and exceptional staff. I always stay at this Hotel when visiting the Sarnia Area. Rooms are so comfortable and clean and the restaurant is fabulous. Love their free breakfast. We have never been disappointed in this Hotel.
My arrival was going to be after the restaurant closed so they had my dinner waiting for me in my room. Best Ceasar Salad and Chicken Wings I've had in a long time. After a long day and Toronto traffic my comfy room was the next best thing to being home! All staff including front desk and my gal in the restaurant for breakfast were awesome!
Very good experience for two night stays. Close to the water front and major shopping mall. Good restaurants close by and good quality food. Good location for family holidays specially with out door swimming pool.
The room itself was very clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly. We were able to do an early check-in as requested as we had to prepare for a wedding. The only problem with the room was having to climb a flight of stairs with luggage in tow and a guest who was injured was very inconvenient. One guest had a hip injury (which occurred just prior to arrival unfortunately so there wasn't time to request a ground floor room) and had to climb the stairs to get to the room in the Marina wing. Was unaware that there was no elevator to the second floor. Unfortunately we didn't have time to request a different room due to arriving only a short time before we needed to leave for a wedding ceremony... and the hotel appeared to be fully booked due to weddings anyway. It was also disappointing to discover that the free breakfast at the restaurant was only available on weekdays from Monday to Friday. Seeing as all Best Westerns I have previously stayed at provide free breakfast on the weekend (a fact that is heavily advertised for Best Western), this hotel lacks brand consistency in that aspect. Considering the cost to stay for one night and breakfast is free during the week, it would have been nice to offer free breakfast on the weekend as well. Otherwise it was a nice stay.
Excellent location and top notch facilities. Easily accessible, very friendly staff and well appointed rooms. A very clean Restaurant with good food and prompt service. A nice fitness room and very nice pool area.
The front counter staff are so easy to deal with and so helpful. They answer all queries and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I stay here frequently and this is the reason.
I just felt we should of been compensated. I didn't even get the room that I really wanted. The attendant at the motel was very fair and tried her best to give us another room. It was just unfair that the trip advisor was blaming the motel for there mistake.
As always, we never have any complaints here. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean and very reasonable rates. Restaurant just opened after renovations and served us well. Lots of parking. Would I go back? Yes.
This Best Western exceeded my expectations. It was clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the carpeting was plush. I was pleasantly surprised to see a complimentary bottle of Aquafina water and a package of Oreos for each guest. I thought it was a nice touch. This hotel was family friendly and pet friendly. I would definitely recommend it, especially given the price. Good job BW in Sarnia!!
Hotel clean, staff helpful and pleasant, location good, bed very comfortable. Was in the area for a Grand Fondo event. What has been very helpful in other accommodations was to have the option of a suite, where we could cook our own meals, especially when competing in a sporting event. Not sure why this hotel excludes breakfast in the hotel fee on weekends (only offered during week days)
Good: Nice clean room, friendly staff, effective check in/out, plenty of free parking Bad: No free breakfast (the breakfast available at the discounted rate was ok), the corridor smelled as if a skunk had walk through it. Ugly: The cooling/heating unit was like a noisy washer on full spin cycle, and made sleeping difficult. Because of this may have to consider another hotel next time. Strange: only certain sections of the second floor were accessible by elevator, for the remaining sections had to use the stairs only.
Excellent place to stay - well maintained. The Staff were pleasant and professional. The hotel rooms were very clean and the beds were quite comfy. The pool was a very nice place to lounge and hang out. The hotel was central to everything! Would definitely stay here again and again!!
Was surprise to see Best Western Plus with no Breakfast Service on Sat or Sun . It was just under 7 dollars and it was extremely good . The room need upgraded air system and TV service as analog service on TV was all we could get. This looks like a older hotel trying to be upgraded. Clean everywhere and nice pool area. Nice staff
Thank you, chimiigwech for making our stay comfortable. We will definitely come back! We cannot wait to hang out by the pool with our children, eat at their restaurant and sleep on the comfortable beds again. We look forward to our next stay!
Pun intended my husband broke his leg in Jan and this was our first Break away since the incident. The hotel we usually book was unable to accommodate with a first floor room.. This hotel had availability... They were friendly throughout our stay which was 2 nights Fri Sat. The room was Huge and had all the amenities and having a restaurant on site was certainly a convenience. They had a breakfast special for the weekend that was a good deal. The food and presentation was good which I don't expect at breakfast... The receptionist Kaela was helpful with map and directions to the Saturday market and other information. The last night we stayed, there was an unhappy guest spewing profanities at her room mate and carrying the confrontation to the hall. The situation was soon quieted down by the person on duty that night... I do not relish this part of their job as it is unsettling to both the staff and the affected guests. But the fact that the situation was under control quickly shows the quality and ethic of the staff. So I would say overall our stay was pleasant and that we will return. We also found out that the hotel is dog friendly... for this owner.
2 sights online said free breakfast was included, the desk said only on weekdays, was not able to get a refund even though we were not satisfied and it was only 1 hour after the deadline. Very old hotel and need upgrading desperately. Would stay here again
We stayed at two very nice Best Westerns on our trip, but this one was not good. Where is the brand consistency? Rooms are cramped and dated. In a double queen there was nowhere to put our suitcases - I had to put mine blocking the door in the entry hallway by the bath. Beds are comfortable but pillows are old and lumpy. The shower pressure was good but is very narrow because of the bar sticking out. WiFi was good. My husband was told there is no breakfast on weekends. What? What are we paying for? The room price was high. And it was amateur night with drunks yelling in the courtyard and hallway with no intervention by staff. My son got up at 2 am to ask some hall drunks to keep it down. One of the worse hotel experiences I've had for a long time!
I was recently in Sarnia, Ontario by myself on business and had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Plus Guildwood Inn- Sarnia. It was a very hot five days and the heated outdoor pool was HUGE, private and wonderful. I felt like I was in a resort in the Caribbean. The landscaping ( on the whole property ) was beautiful with many flowers and huge shady trees. One of the highlights for me was the location.....2 minutes from Hwy 402 - yet quiet and sheltered from the sights and sounds of the highway. It was also 2 minutes from downtown Sarnia, Bluewater Bridge to Port Huron AND walking distance to the wonderful waterfront trail and park system. The room was roomy and well appointed with fridge and microwave ... very comfortable bed AND a window that actually OPENED. The onsite restaurant served a free sit-down hot breakfast from Mon. - Fri. which I took advantage of....and it was delicious and fast! And to top it off....the service was top notch....everyone went out of their way to make sure that all the guests were happy. Overall it was a terrific experience and I will never stay ANYWHERE else in Sarnia.
Clean hotel, clean rooms. Friendly, caring and professional staff. I will be staying there again. Very safe environment. Beds were a little firm, but I am partial to very soft mattresses. Great location
Stayed at the BWPlus on a weekend. professional checkin, spotless room, good wifi, large screen tv. good bath with shower. all in all a very good stay. but avoid the restaurant at all costs. bad food bad service. see review on restaurant.
I have been staying at the BW Sarnia for the last 5 years off and on while in Sarnia on business and the service has been great. Friendly staff to welcome you - Katie, Julie and Kayla all make you feel at home. Good breakfast with fresh eggs and bacon. Rooms are spacious and clean.
Rooms were clean but hallways were dingy and need to be updated. The rooms looked renovated but they forgot the doors, the eighties want them back. Nice size pool. Children were disappointed in the poor selection of TV channels.
There were problems upon arrival. Not only was our requested early check in unavailable, our room was not ready by 2pm. We requested a King sized bed, and did not receive on. The front desk staff were constantly taking personal calls as opposed to providing us any service. The room had an old urine odour and was not clean. Possibly because they rushed to have the room ready for after 2pm. We had breakfast at Shelly's the server did not acknowledge us, not provide us any menus or cutlery. Our order came out wrong twice because finally being served. No drinks were offered and she dropped our breakfast.
Wasn't sure what to expect thought I was choosing a lower and hotel specially when I found out they allowed animals but to my surprise the room was clean the layout was fantastic for two kids and two adults would highly recommend this hotel
BW Guildwood Inn is a Top Notch place to stay. Amazing Staff and Great Restaurant. Very Clean and comfortable. We have events there with large groups and we are always satisfied with the service and amenities. Highly recommended
My daughter and I were looking for a hotel stay across the border of the US into Canada. We were met by a friendly staff at 3 am. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, just what we needed after a long drive. I would highly recommend this hotel to a friend.
I'll start with Shellys Restaurant. The desk said they had a special, burger and a beer for $10. Ok, ended up being $14( added cheese) for a flat draught beer and a burger that had the texture of shredded rubber. Returning to my room after this fine meal I discovered my door was ajar. It was hard to close when I left, someone had been in my room! I called the front desk and they asked me to come down. I got there and they said that "the computer had me checked out and so they gave my room to another guest ". They gave me some bonus rewards points to make me feel better. We'll see. Next morning I woke early, showered in luke warm water ( still waiting for hot). Loaded up and went to lobby for coffee. Whoops no coffee in the lobby at 5:00 am, sorry ! Breakfast was at 6:30. Sum it up, crappy food, flat beer, someone was in my room, no early morning coffee ( except room coffee that's never good). Not so warm shower. Not a good experience at the Best Western. Hopefully won't return. I'm on the road and in hotels 4-5 nights a week.
From the moment I pulled it, I was impressed with how well cared for the grounds and hotel looked. The staff at the front desk greeted me immediately. The friendly personality made me feel right at home. The rooms were clean well maintained. Great team work by all the employees. The location is close by to everything!!
I booked this place after comparing prices and rooms with similar properties in Sarnia. Our daughter and her 5yrs old and 1 years old were visiting from Manitoba and so we decided to do a trip to Sarnia to visit family. We stayed in room 102, ground floor so you can drive up and unload your vehicle right into your room, loved the convenience. You entered into a small living room with a large TV. There is a hall way with a very large storage room that we set up our playpen for the 1 years old. Next comes a small room with a sink to the right and across the hall a bathroom with a large shower and jacuzzi tub, kids loved it!! At the end of the hall was a large bedroom with a king size bed and another TV. This worked incredibly well for our family with small children. Large pool outside, not sure if it was heated but it was warm. Our 5 yrs old grand daughter could touch the entire length of the large pool, we were the only one's swimming. The entire hotel was clean with no odours. The king size bed was super comfortable, the pull out couch was your typical pull out couch. In the morning you received a free hot breakfast, with choice of typical bacon/eggs/homefries/toast/tea OR pancakes/coffee OR cereal/bagel, fruit and yogurt. Every meal came with mini muffins. I was satisfied with the price and quality. Would definitely stay there again.
A good stay in a high-quality hotel. Room very good. but complimentary breakfast could have had more variety. The location and setting were relaxing. And I enjoyed sitting out by the pool. A suitable end to a busy day of driving.
I booked this place after comparing prices and reviews online. We were very satisfied with the price, quality and location. We will definetly stay there again when in the area. The free breakfast through the week was great and on the weekend the prices were also great. Any staff we encountered were very friendly.
We were traveling through Sarnia, or so we thought as we ended up staying 2 days to enjoy the lovely park along the water. There was a car show and the weather was perfect for the beach. The Best Western is in a wonderful location as it sits directly across from the visitor center in a quiet neighborhood with very easy access to the Bridge and town ammenities. The nearby parks were so great with play equipment and clean beach houses. The Bestt Western offers new comfy rooms and the best breakfast ever. You won't eat lunch after this breakfast. Hotel decor is upscale and beds delightful. Pool and exercise room nice but weather outdoors too perfect to use indoor facilities this trip. Highly recommend this hotel.
Reasonably comfortable hotel. A bit pricey for the amenities. Didn't like the fact that the included breakfast was served in the restaurant (choice of 3 selections only) & only served Monday to Friday. restaurant served lukewarm food & we had to send a few plates back to the kitchen to be warmed up & one time to remove a human hair from the plate.
been many times and as usual service and accommodation was good. Attentive service, clean rooms, good breakfast options included with the room so it is good value. Location is good as well, near a par 3 golf course and business areas
Room was clean and nicely decorated. Staff was very helpful and accommodating We were attending a wedding and staff was very helpful when we were decorating. Hall was really nice and outdoor patio for the wedding was nicely set up
We have stayed at this hotel before and intend to do so again in September. The receptionist was very friendly and professional and upgraded us to a suite. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good. Great menu and excellent service.
I do extensive amount of travel with my job. This was my firytine at this hotel & I will be back again for sure. Beds are good service is great & close to everything. Casino Tom Hortons & highway. Would recommend this place to everyone. J
My mother and sister and I enjoyed a delightful long weekend. We were close to the border, good restaurants, and shopping. The room was comfortable and exceeded our expectations. We were particularly impressed at the service we received , especially given the full house. We shall return again next year for the third time.
We enjoyed our stay at this BW as it fit our needs perfectly. The location was great being close to the Border crossing and local pubs and restaurants. There is an Irish pub within a short walk that has excellent food. The fitness room was quite adequate. Enjoy your stay.
My husband and I like to stay at Best Western Hotels because they are clean, the rooms are nice and the staff are very helpful. We enjoy the breakfast, there is a good variety of food to choose from. We like the hotels with the pools and they are clean. Whenever we have had a problem, the staff is very quick to rectify the problem in a very timely manner. We are always taking road trips in Canada and in the U.S. and we always look for or book ahead with Best Western Hotels.
As a loyal BW customer I checked in over the phone for the 18th, 19th. When I arrived I was happy to see they had a restaurant and they had a clean lobby. AT 115.00 a night I was expecting slot more. As a advertised PLUS I expected more. The rooms are tiny... Micro-motel small. The bathroom counter is low and the toilet is like a preschool toilet..... Now the room was clean, a.c. worked good bit the doors all soaked so ANYTIME someone left.... bam... the hallway is noisy also from footsteps. The restaurant is ok and the location is too but again as a elite BW customer there is NO WAY THIS SHOULD BE A PLUS. Also I was not recognized as a elite member although they gave me my 500 points. AT this price I will go up the road and get a suite next time. The staff was nice and location is great BUT this is an old micromotel and should have. Micro price to match.
The room was very clean and incredibly quiet. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were in the Marina Wing which is at the back of the hotel. Hotel guests receive a complementary hot OR cold breakfast at the restaurant, which was good. You pick what you want and the server brings it to your table. There is easy access to nice walking paths along the river and it is near the casino. The hotel is pet friendly and charges a very reasonable $10 fee for pets.
been staying here on and off for 8 years service is always great and beds are super comfortable always get the rooms that have drive up access the staff are excellent and being on nightshift the noise level is always low while sleeping during the day
I stayed here two years ago and had a good experience, do decided to return. And I am glad that hotel has kept up and is still run nicely. Check in is friendly, rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel has an attached restaurant that has a good menu and good service at dinner time. Weekday stays include breakfast, made to order, 3 choices, hot items. This is served at restaurant. Staff is friendly. This option is much better than the standard continental pre made breakfast that other hotels offer, ie, rubbery eggs. Overall a nice stay. My only concern is that during my stay there was a large group of road construction guys that were very loud and noise travels well through the halls, fortunately their party stopped early and I was able to go to sleep.
My husband & I have stayed at numerous Hotels in Sarnia while visiting Family BW Guildwood is the Only Hotel we will continue to book our stays. The quality of rooms,( BEST Pillows Ever) service & staff far exceed all other Hotels. Much thanks to all the wonderful people who work at the Hotel it means alot to us to be remembered and valued.
Our room was great, loved the door to the small but nice patio outside our room plus easy access to our room. made my day. The desk service agent was awesome. Her name was Julie and she went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and give us the best experience ever. Can hardly wait to go stay there again because it was wonderful. Thank you Julie and staff. Also you get a full complete breakfast for free. Now what more could you want. with just as wonderful staff.
Great place to stay!! Hint: GPS=Point Edward not Sarnia. Very close to Casino, Hospital & Tim Hortons. Staff is terrific. Free breakfast Monday thru Friday. Restaurant on site. Great area for a walk. Quiet despite how close it is to highway
This is the first time that we stayed at this hotel while coming back to Canada from Florida. It's a little pricey but well worth it. Our room was inside/outside corridor which was easy bringing in our overnight stuff. The restaurant was pricey but ample food. We definitely would stay here next April.
It has been a while since we were last here and what a difference. They have made great changes. The rooms a light and modern and the bed was very comfortable. The toiletries and not your standard and everything is lovely and clean. The front desk staff are professional and helpful. The rates are reasonable.
On this trip we stayed at two B.W.Plus . They were both needing some updates and were pricey . The breakfast that we did have could use some updating the eggs were like egg beaters not eggs like we know them. The overall selection was just not there.
Wedding was beautiful, and the staff was courteous, helpful, friendly - a wonderful experience. They treated the bride and grooms family royally, and as a guest, I was pleased for them. The food was delicious - served nicely, and breakfast the next morning was grand.
great location friendly staff.outside appearance not great but inside is very clean.good breakfast as complimentary or great choice from menu.very close to border crossing.beautiful area for a walk or jog along the river.
For a best western, it is a pretty good hotel. The rooms are basic but clean. The front desk and staff were friendly and accommodating. Would recommend for a short stay as it was a good stay and we'd return.
This hotel may be older but well kept clean updated modern rooms. Nice touches like cookies on the pillows. The inclusive breakfast is order off the menu. Attentive helpful staff. This facility also has a large outdoor pool. I would stay here again!
Stayed here on business and was pleased with the room. Good rate, well appointed and well laid out room with many thoughtful extras and a very comfy bed. Quiet from inside and outside noise and heating system worked well. Included breakfast is served in the attached restaurant. Recommend highly!
Best Western Guilwood is the place to stay while in Sarnia, there are other possibilities, however you get the best Quality and Service at the Best Western. Also on site is Shelly's Bar and restaurant. Great place to spend your evenings. Food is great, service is excellent and above all, it is a lot cheaper than what you would pay at the other two hotels in the same street. When in Sarnia, look no further, stay at the Guildwood and eat at Shelly's , you will not regret it.
This is a very nice, clean, hotel with very friendly and professional staff. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival. We dined in the restaurant the evening we arrived and really enjoyed our meals. We were back in the morning for a delicious breakfast. Absolutely no complaints.
All in all an ok hotel. Being on the first floor and having an outside door was good. Staff in the restaurant was rude. I understand a hockey team can be loud but if you don't want the hassle don't be a sponsor hotel. Staff at the hotel was generally good. The hallway monitors to keep us quiet were respectful. Allowing us to use the conference room was very generous. My complaint was about how the gentleman I talked to on Saturday night at the front desk handled my question about the bug in my room (picture attached) Is it still there? No I got rid of it. What do you want me to do? Maybe I'm sorry is there anything you need or want? Nothing. Not sure if this is a one time but thought I'd share only because he seemed like it wasn't a big enough deal for him to do anything.
I have eaten breakfast and lunch here. Breakfasts are good with lots of variety, lunch not so much. Recently had lunch here and was underwhelmed by the wait times and food. My lunch special was okay ( pasta with shrimp) but my husband found his wrap very doughy. Surprised that even the server commented on the fact that there wasn't enough fish in the chowder. The food took forever to come and everyone did not get their food at the same time even though the restaurant was not busy. Would probably return for breakfast but wouldn't rush back for lunch.
Very conveniently located hotel for travel to USA. Blue Water Bridge is just about a mile from hotel. Lots of excellent restaurants close by. Staff are very friendly and courteous. About a three hour drive from Toronto and about one and a half hour drive to Detroit.
My girlfriend and I spent a night here and it was an enjoyable stay. Nothing to complain about my stay. The staff were very friendly and I particularly enjoyed the texting service. The response time would be improved, but other than that, for the price, it was beyond my expectations
We just needed to stay overnight on our way back to Ohio, and it's a nice place for the price. Our room ended up being huge and had a tub, which was nice. There is no breakfast, but I guess you can get something in the morning at the restaurant.
I am usually a camper& stay with friends kind of traveller, unless travelling for work. The Guildwood has changed my mind - it was a wonderful place to spend a night on a road trip! Clean in and out with well kept grounds. Pillow top mattress, lovely bedding and towels - they lived up to the Best Western "plus" categorization. Being greeted in with a big smile in the in-house dining room for our complimentary hot full breakfast (3 choices for adults and another 3 for kids)! Central but quiet, easy to get to, and just a short walk to the water, included sandy beaches. I will be back!!
Previous reviews for this motel have always been favorable, however our latest stay left much to be desired. When I called to make reservations I requested a specific suite which we had stayed in 3-4 times before as it met all our requirements as we have a small dog and location of room was ideal for in and out as well as being away from entrances and most other commotion. I was told that room was available and advised it had been reserved. Upon arrival a few weeks later, on checking in I was told we were being moved to a pet friendly room. I said we had stayed in the room before with our dog. The explanation then changed to the room was not available as the guests who had it prior to us had decided to extend their stay so the room was given to them as they were already in it. The room now given to us was right next to an entrance and staircase so now we had the noise of everyone coming and going and this would cause dog to bark. I tried to explain to clerk that the guests given our reserved room should have been the ones to move as they were the ones that made the change but instead you made their change in plans our problem. The reply I got was they were already in the room so the protocol of the motel allowed them to stay (squatters rights ) despite not having reserved the room. To make matters worse the motel was being reroofed and when we went to the new room we were given I noticed the roof nailer compressors were located directly under the bedroom window and offered no privacy. I went back to desk and mentioned this to desk clerk who said she was unaware of that. I enquired when they started I was told they worked 7:30 to 5. So this meant we had the noise of compressors /generator all day. As expected this was a noisy room and was awakened twice during the night of people going up and down stairs. In total I managed about 4 hours sleep. Next morning I spoke with manager, no apolgy given just a reiterating of their policy of not asking guests to relocate and that they really hadn't guaranteed that room to us despite what I had been told. She did day she was going to call some other guests not checked in yet if they would accept a different room and if so we could have it and be away from noise for our second night. I agreed but wondered why they would now inconvenience another guest because of the other guests change in plans. The manager then asked what she could do to make our stay better. I suggested a reduction in cost. The reply was she would look into it. What we got as compensation was a $25 food certificate for the restaurant and a card apologizing for inconvenience. The certificate was useless to us as we already had dinner plans with friends and we're leaving next morning. Speaking of restaurant, the motel gives vouchers for breakfasts at restaurant however policy is you must eat it in restaurant and not take it back to room. So in our case vouchers were useless as we prefer to relax in room with breakfast. We end up ordering same breakfast to take out to room but pay full price. Another non-sensical policy. Suffice to say we found our last stay less than desirable and despite being regular guests of this motel over the years we will probably be rethinking our plans in the future. In my opinion motel management should revisit their customer relation protocols. As an aside a similar situation with a noisy room occurred at a BW motel in the US that we regularly stay at. The compensation was an upgraded free stay on our next visit.
Very clean hotel with a excellent (sit-down service, no buffet) breakfast. Nice sized pool with gate. Spacious restaurant from which we ordered food for the next day's meal on the road. Great chicken sandwich and salad. Later in the day when we departed, I realized that I had left my expensive watch in the bathrobe pocket. I alerted the hotel and they found the watch! Hotel staff most graciously forwarded it back home to me in New York.
We stayed in the suite room (there are 8 of these) with a separate area with couch, desk, large chair, fridg, TV. The bed (very comfortable with great linens and triple sheeting) was a king with another large chair in that room. There was a tub and separate shower. A waste basket with separate sections for garbage and recyclables was great...nice to see they take recycling seriously. Breakfast does not come with the room, however they offer two eggs, bacon and sausage, toast or pancakes, potatoes, small muffin for $5.95 (coffee is extra). The dining room also offers dinners which we had. The price was right and the food was great. The hotel is close to town and there is a casino down the street if you enjoy that.
Nice location near border. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast. Papers a plus. Near casino. I stop on my way to Stratford. Inside/Outside entrances a plus. On site restaurant offers a wide variety of choices reasonably priced.
Good clean tidy hotel. Great Western tells you the standard to expect, which was met in all respects, but this hotel/motel is in a very pleasant setting. Staff very helpful, room as expected, service excellent. Would recommend Ground Floor for smokers as can step outside onto small patio with table and chairs direct from room.
super friendly staff very helpful. even housekeeping in the morning was super friendly even asking how we enjoyed breakfast and our stay! everything was clean and comfortable we stayed for 2 nights we didnt need housekeeping I am a tidy person who actually works at a hotel at the front desk and i have had to do houeskeeping a time or two so i have a higher respect for that these cleaners do! <3 I would stay here again in the future. 2 things that were a little sub par however. 1 i wont blame them for is the on site restaurant is a bit dissappointing for the most part. and that POOL it looks so amazing until you realize that it is 3.5 feet deep throughout the ENTIRE pool lol no deep end even a gradual slop to 5 feet would be awesome but nope 3.5 ft throughout lol but these are minor things. this place is close to a park and bridge its a great place to stay and if your into it they are a short drive to the casino keep up the good work here P.s I am 7.5 months pregnant so i am uncomfortable at the best of times and i was quite comfortable throughout my stay so thank you for that!
The design and layout of this sweet was the best we have ever stayed in. A nicely separated living room and bedroom with a large bath and closet in between. Both rooms had high quality televisions. The living room had a sofa inside chair along with a desk with plenty of electrical outlets. Bathrobes were arrayed on the king-size bed and there was another cushioned chair in the bedroom. The lighting was excellent. The room was quiet. It was just a very pleasant experience.
We had an overnight on our drive to Ottawa. Hotel staff was amazing and very helpfull. The hotel wasn't brand new but was definately upgraded and was in great shape. We used the unheated pool and it was refreshing and they let us stay late in the pool. The beds were very comfortable and room was very clean. We had free breakfast and even though we showed up 30 minutes late from time on our voucher they still accepted the voucher and the food and service was very good. Overall I would highly recommend the hotel and we enjoyed our stay in Sarnia.
The service was good from everyone I dealt with, and the location was great - near the bridge and not far from downtown. But the room was damp and clammy (I had to move once from one really clammy to one that was better and less humid - but I still bought a portable small dehumidifier), and it was generally worn and sad looking. Breakfast was included, and there was a small menu in their main dining restaurant that was available at included cost to hotel guests, but the food was horrible. The scrambled eggs were so rubbery I refused to eat them, and the next day when I wanted a toasted bagel with cream cheese, they were out of bagels so I had the ordinary lousy sliced sandwich bread. I didn't eat there again for the rest my days there; I'd rather pay extra to eat a decent breakfast than eat a lousy breakfast for no extra fee. Even the breakfast at A&W was better.
Worked here way back when and loved it..paid for college as a waitress. It still has so many memories..renovated to this era but the staff and service quality is still the same. We needed a break from dust etc and picked my favourite place in Sarnia and had a nice date night and great sleep with a super bed and assorted pillows..I love a flat one, hubby loves the big ones and we had them.
Have stayed at this hotel a number of times. It is in a pleasant area close to the St. Clair River and Lake Huron. Also very close to the Bluewater Bridge between Michigan and Ontario. The staff are friendly and rooms are clean and well maintained.
I enjoy the first floor rooms because you have your own little seating area outside. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and staff are amazing. ZThe casino and yaught club are down the street if you would like to go for a nice little walk. I use this hotel for both liesure and work.
My wife and I were heading home from a visit along the west coast of Ontario and it was near time we called it a day. We have both stayed and the Inn in the past as I have travelled to Sarnia for work before. Everything is EXCELLENT- the location is perfect, the food ( supper and breakfast _ were EXCELLENT- the staff are all very nice. Our only dislike is that the room - blankets etc. were very damp and it was like sleeping in a tent. We do however plan to visit again, with hopes that we have another enjoyable visit ( with the exception of the dampness) Thank you very much- Mike (Jake) Francis 09/02/16
We loved this very clean and friendly hotel. From the housekeeper to the front desk all of them we met welcomed us with a hello and smile. We had a small dog with us and we were very happy with our spacious room. It was clean and comfortable and we would definitely return again and recommend. Location perfect and the made to order breakfast is a nice change (mon to Fri only) in the restaurant. My only suggestion is provide better directions to room when driving around building. We were told go to double doors..well there are many of them we found out.
We booked this relatively last minute. It's close to the bridge coming over the border. The district it's in isn't that attractive but the hotel was welcoming and the rooms were OK. We had a mix up in that one of us was allocated a room with someone already in and so had to sleep in "the meeting room" as the hotel was full. There are a couple of restaurants and a pub within easy walking distance.
We decided to stop last minute on our way to up north in Michigan. We expected just a place to rest before heading out the next morning. What we got was so much more. It was easy to find and had a pretty lobby with soft lighting. The young lady checking us in was the friendliest and gave us a wonderful welcome. Our room was spacious and very very clean with waters and oreos by the bed.A great large tv..comfy bed and sweet smelling vanilla shower amenities. The restaurant connected to the hotel was awesome burger and beer night for $10.00. They even delivered to our room. The next morning we went to breakfast which was included with our stay.We expected to usual danish and coffee but it was a sit down breakfast with your choice of 3 different entrees. Eggs...or pancakes or fresh fruit..juice..coffee..hash browns and bacon or sausage. We were waited on and everything was wonderful. What was a quick stop became a great start to our vacation and will be our half way stop from now on.
I needed a quiet night to rest up after a long week. That's exactly what I got. The room with King bed, sofa and desk was very clean, very quiet (even with a wedding party present) and very nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable, bathroom was well equipped with towels and amenities. Nice big screen tv and hidden bar fridge were a welcome site. I was extremely pleased when I opened the room door and found the oasis I was hoping for. I was very satisfied with the price, well worth the money. I visited Shelley's for take out food. Service was good, beer cold, food tastey but took 40 mins to get the chicken wrap & fries and it wasn't busy. My only complaint. I will definitely stay here again.
Stayed at the hotel for work, been going to this BW whenever I am in town. It's a great location and I love the services provided by staff. Issue experienced this visit include: The 'sealed' cup in the washroom had a soapy smell/mold buildup inside it. Also, stains on the towels.... SUMMARY: PROS: Excellent! Great location, Newly Renovated Hotel! Extremely Friendly Staff. CONS: Towels were not clean for both nights...
Best Western Plus Guildwood has easy access off highway 401. Relatively quiet area. Large comfortable rooms. Ground floor rooms have outside access with many having large shade trees outside the door. A small patio and chairs are provided. A bit unusual in this part of the country is to find a very large OUTDOOR pool. The day I was there it was very hot and humid and the pool was a perfect antidote. NIce breakfast with REAL orange juice! I would stay here again.
Staff very accommodating, but whoever is in charge of housekeeping/maintenance needs to address mildew/mold issues in A/C units. Our daughter had the room next door (207 and 209) and we both had visible mold growing on the A/C vents. I heard another woman asking to be moved to another room for similar reason. These rooms did not face the water. When I called about the problem, a staff person came and thoroughly cleaned both units with disinfectant, but we slept in clammy sheets. There also appeared to be a plumbing leak which affected the closet in room 207, so we did not use it and kept the door closed. The complimentary sit down breakfast was very good. The pool is much larger than most. Bottled water provided. All staff very pleasant and responsive.
We were on a little travel vacation for a week to celebrate my wifes birthday and we had stayed at a couple of locations costing double the price of this hotel, yet offering much less. Really liked Shelly's being attached to the hotel, very handy. Had dinner there and breakfast the next day, both were great, thank you all
Our family reserved three rooms (total of 7 adults, 4 children) when we attended a milestone birthday for the family matriarch. The facility and rooms were immaculate. The large outdoor pool was ideal for the many age ranges in our family. The separate outdoor sheltered patio was a wonderful evening gathering area for the adults. The dining room offered a menu to suit all tastes while the staff did an amazing job attending to such a large group that wanted to eat together. Thank you everyone at the Best Western Guildwood Inn for making our family time together one full of happy memories.
This was a fantastic hotel and next year I plan to stay here again! The service was great and the staff so helpful. The rooms are very clean and the first stay we were upgraded to a suite. We just loved our stay
Its been exactly a year since i stayed at this hotel. The rooms arent huge but modern, well appointed, and very clean. In addition to the standard free bar soap, skin lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and in-room coffee and tea bags, there was now free bottled water in my room, and a free package of oreo cookies. The front desk people were very helpful. I had forgotten my razor and they gave me a free one and some packets of nice travel shave gel.
Excellent experience and very helpful staff members. Clean rooms and very comfortable beds. Restaurant had great selections and we enjoyed a free breakfast during the week. I did like that they allowed for a single bill when we were paying for 5 family rooms. Very accommodating.
Modern clean room. Easy access to our morticycles as requested in our booking and reservations we made months in advance. Everything we asked for we got it. Also, they offer good amenities, 2 robes and 2 oreo cookies, nice touches! Staff was really friendly and helpful! (Trying to locate my brother they went above and beyond). Really easy to access from the highway after crossing the border, tada, it is right there! We chose it for that purpose and that it had an attached restaurant with good reviews on Trip Advisor. Trip Advisor did not let us down! Good choice! Nice parking lot with lots of parking. The restaurant had delicous food so we didn't have to leave. Convienatly this is attached, it does have a license for alcohol as well if you like. We had burgers fries, really good food! I saw sone delicious looking food going by! We would go there often if we could. (We ate there and went with my brother to another restaurant as well, lol) The pool closes early (8:30) because it is an outdoor pool so we didn't get to use it. The border crossing was much longer then the projected 15 minutes stated on line! Breakfast was a treat, you get made to order yummy hot food. I had pancakes and they were huge, hot, and not out of a machine. What a treat after being on the road for several days. Others ordered eggs, toast sausage or bacon. They loved their breakfast as much as l did. You could choose from a handful of specific items off the menu, really nice touch! Loved it here the room was very comfortable. Would definitely go back. Actually we will make a point of it next time we come through! We did take pictures of the food can't find them. You don't the my pictures. .. there should be lots on here.... IT IS REALLY GOOD FOOD... we had meals drinks, snacks and salads we shared and loved it all. Our waitress was so helpful and friendly. Stay and eat here you'll love it!
We spent 4 nights in this hotel. It's a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The bathroom is a comfortable size and there is adequate counter space for toiletries, etc. The beds were really comfortable and we didn't hear any outside noise during the night. The pool is awesome. Very long so great for laps, but only 3 feet deep throughout, so also good for kids. There are plenty of lounge chairs around the pool as well. There is a full service restaurant in the hotel, serving good food. It was the first time we experienced a full sit-down breakfast as part of the room rate. So much better than the usual buffet style with toast and cereals. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the housekeeping staff who were extremely accommodating when we asked them not to clean the room before noon. We will definitely stay there again.
travelling west on the 402 I was careful to watch for the signs to sarnia that I did not get caught on the wrong road and end up in the usa as some travellers have done on border security the signs are well market and we made it safely to the hotel the gps worked wonders with the directions there was no problem with checkit or checkout as the staff were very friendly the room was a standard size room with a fridge microwave tv and a king size comfortable bed the breakfast was a little different as you orber your eggs from the cook who would call you when ready other bw's you helped yourself to the scrambled eggs here you have a choice sunny side up over easy hard yoke omlet with 10 different additions for you to chose from when your eggs were ready you had the choice as to how many sausages you wanted and as to how many strips on bacon we were on the ground floor so we had an outside door with a small patio and 2 lawn chairs to sit on and relax to cool afternoon breeze excellent hotel
Hotel Staff were pleasant and helpful, Check in/out was done quickly. It was very nice to have a full restaurant within the hotel. Our room was modern and clean. The king size bed was very comfortable. Location was perfect right off Hwy 402 and minutes to the bridge.
This hotel has been beautifully redone, the whole place was impressive to walk thru. Our room was nicely decorated, very clean and even had a bathrobe and bottles of water. It also had the usual coffee maker and fridge. It is very convenient to the highways, the information center (also impressive) is across the street, marina and water behind, the outdoor pool was great and we were able to walk to the local casino to play and have supper. The hotel is also very close to downtown and shopping malls. Had a great stay, no complaints.
Room is clean and great spot near the Bluewater Bridge. Breakfast in the restaurant attached is included. Front desk staff friendly too. Located near many things; casino, pubs by the water. Fitness room is decent. Close to many restaurants.
Excellent customer service from all staff. Recently renovated and reminded me of a brand new hotel. Large outdoor pool to cool off after a long drive. Room and bed comfortable and well appointed. Very well maintained grounds and a "stones throw" from border. Buffet breakfast satisfied this travellers' needs. Great value.
Have stayed here many, many times over the years and it has always been a pleasure. Very convenient to walk down under the bridge for "fries" and watch the ships pass or go for "ice cream". The beds are very comfortable and the hotel and rooms are always clean and neat and seem to always have some "upgrades". The best surprise on a trip is "No surprise".
We were traveling to Stratford, Ontario from upstate Michigan, and we pulled into this hotel late in the evening. What a relief to find an upscale-style hotel at a reasonable price. The lobby was sparkling clean, the room was lovely, and the free made-to-order breakfast really topped off a nice stay. There were even luggage carts at the back entrance nearest our room -- a rarity even in the best hotels. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
I was so impressed with the service and quality of this hotel. Since I have never stayed at a Best Western before I was not sure what to expect. I will never stay anywhere else from now on when I am in the Sarnia area.
The hotel was great but was overshadowed by the fact that my bike was stolen even though it was secured by a cable to the back of my car. No security cameras. Management did help to call police and police advised that there had been a rash of bikes stolen. Would have been good to know I would have brought my bike in
We had a restful night here at the Best Western, we liked that you could drive right up to the room. We had a room with one queen size bed, the room was a bit small but for one night - adequate! The included breakfast was the best - there are not many places you are served a full breakfast, it was fantastic and the service great! This is a nice location right across the border, very pleased with this stay!
We enjoyed our stay overnight in Best Western Plus, Sarnia, ON. The location is very convenient when you travel to/from USA. The personnel of the hotel was very polite and attentive. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The complementary breakfast was a pleasant surprise for our family. We definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.
We arrived late in the afternoon and were greeted very cheerfully by Katie. She had us checked in very quickly and, as we were travelling with our pup, she even had treats for our dog to make her feel welcome. Our room was bright and cheerful and, due to the fact that the weather was very hot and humid, we enjoyed spending our evenings in our room. The room was very clean and our maid was very pleasant to deal with. The restaurant, Shelley's, provides a full free breakfast which was very good. The dinner meals were varied and delicious. They have specials every night and their staff is good at making suggestions. Everyone at this hotel was cheerful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
excellent hotel and staff would recommend to any one for business or pleasure. has a nice pool area and relaxing area and quiet rooms. there was a bad storm during the and never heard a sound and had a very restful sleep
I have been to this hotel a nice few times over the last 10 years. I has never disappointed me yet. We always stay in a suite at the back of the hotel. The hotel suite are really good, clean, and so comfortable. I love were this hotel is located and also like that the tourist information centre is right across the street. This room came with a really good breakfast. I have try other hotels in Sarnia and this is my favorite place. Staff is amazing.
We are Loyalty Club members of this chain and it seems I never have enough points to use my free stay. This hotel has a requirement for more points than I have. This hotel is spacious and modern. It appears to be a new building. The room was clean. The linens good quality. The towels thick and absorbent. The bed was comfortable. There was complimentary bottled water. The breakfast was served in the adjoining restaurant with a few choices from a menu which was served at our table and paid for with a hotel chit. The surrounding property was beautifully maintained with lovely plants, shrubs and flowers. We would stay here again.
This hotel is a lovely place to stay. it was our second visit, and it was just as nice as the first time around. It is just off the bridge and right past Canadian customs. It couldn't have been more convenient. The receptionist was great and helpful. Our room was lovely, and it was easy to access. Great stay.
We've been living in a hotel for 2 months and decided to get away from our hotel and stay in a better hotel and have a mini weekend getaway. I reserved the room online a few days before but had to call and ask how to do a reservation with a dog because I saw no place online to let the hotel know we were travelling with a dog. We had also planned a pool afternoon so my grandparents could come hang out with us while we were in Sarnia but, upon check-in, we were told the pool would be closed from 2:45-3:45 because of a wedding. The outdoor pool was a BIG reason we chose this hotel. The lady that checked us in told us "Well, it's only for an hour", but that hour was in the middle of the Saturday afternoon that we had planned to have a relaxing pool day. The bathtub plug did not plug so I was unable to take a much needed bath for pain relief and told this to the front desk, through tears, when I went to get two new key cards because they stopped working (it was well before check-out time) and my husband couldn't get back in the room when I was in the shower for 20 minutes. I also burned my hand when I turned the bathroom faucet on for cold water in the morning. Scalding hot water shouldn't come out when the faucet is turned to cold and hasn't been used all night. Also don't like that the pet rooms are the rooms closest to the noisy wedding reception room. At least put the dogs at the end of the hall so they don't react every single time the door to the main hallway opens. This was a terrible experience for as good as we thought this hotel should be. We will not be back.
Stayed here on our way through based on TA reviews. Clean room. Friendly staff. Good breakfast included. Very easy to get on and off the highway. Price was good, especially with the current exchange rate.
The Air Conditioning was set on eco permanently and no way to change it. The walk to the rooms is a good five minutes. This place is highly overrated. The bed and breakfast is a sit in! Not good for business travellers
We almost always stay at a Best Western because of the consistent quality and no unexpected issues. In Sarnia the staff was great and made us feel very welcome. We stayed an extra night with no issues or changing rooms. The Restaurant was good and our dinner(all you can eat ribs night) was very nice.We would certainly stay here again.
Stopped here before returning to the US - - hotels are nicer here than in MI for the same or less money. Large property with plenty of space in back for walking the dog. Room was clean and very comfortable. Tim Hortons nearby - - grab some before crossing the border!
Very nice hotel, clean modern rooms, comfortable bed. Pet friendly. The hotel is situated just off the highway. Nice restaurant and room service was quick. Breakfast is included only Monday through Friday.
We needed a place to stay on the way through to a destination in Michigan. The Guildwood Inn served the purpose perfectly. The front desk staff were friendly and we could drive right up to our room which was most convenient. The king bed in our room was very comfortable but... We had a pullout couch for our son and sadly when we opened it up there was dirt and food debris scattered about the linens - just yuk! Any ways, it's very close to a Timmy's and the bridge. Could have been a lot worse but in the end it was okay.
We stayed at the BW Guildwood in to attend a wedding shower of our niece in Sarnia. It was a good hotel, great rate, clean, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, the towels pleantiful, large and soft and the toilettries were great - I especially liked the convenience of the dispensing unit in the shower and the product was highend. As we were on the 1st floor facing the parking area, the door to go outside was very convenient for unloading and loading our luggage. The front desk was very helpful, pleasant and professional.
My sister, mother and myself stayed here for 2 nights. We have an annual weekend "mother's day" get away. We cross the border, do some shopping, and have a lot of laughs. We have been doing this for about 10 years and this was our first time staying in Sarnia. We all agreed that the location, the hotel and the staff made this our best weekend yet.(the great weather helped, but I can't credit best western with that!)we wanted to do a beer run at Sombra. We'd never done this before and got all the information and advice we rookies needed. It went without a hitch. The following day we crossed the border for some shopping. The location of the hotel could not be more perfect. The room was spacious and comfortable. The air conditioner was wonky, but we managed. There was a wedding going on and we were worried about noise etc. No worries! Weren't bothered at all!! Everything exceeded my expectations. We have decided the Best Western will be our base of operations for all future weekend adventures. I can't thank you enough. All in all a great weekend. You have earned our loyalty. We will be back!
Great little hotel. Staff were really friendly. Came here for a wedding. Great pool. Restaurant was nice too. King room was large and clean with a mini fridge. Close walk to the water. I would go back and stay. Shout out to Devin. Staff member there. He was wonderfully helpful over the weekend stay!!
I have been staying at the Best Western Plus Guildwood Sarnia, for many years now. Every time I am in Sarnia I stay at the Best Western. The staff will always go out of their way to give you the best possible service.
Nice modern hotel, close to the border crossing and down town, Rooms bright and airy and recently refurbished ( marina Wing) . Staff friends and helpful. Hotel was clean and tidy through out. Open air swimming pool, clean, but cold in May, No traffic noise in our room very nice
At first glance the front of the building and lobby are extremely attractive and well maintained. Progressively working my way back to my room things got a little more like what I expected. The room was large, not so comfortable, and very outdated. Overall I had a good experience, and the staff really was very helpful, and friendly.
The hotel rooms and common areas are what you would expect from a Best Western. The hotel is very clean, rooms are comfortable (all though the very cheapest rooms are on the small side - spend a couple more dollars and get the larger room if you can). Nice and quiet. For me, the biggest draw of this hotel is the staff - whether at check in, banquets, restaurant, hospitality - every one I have come in contact with is pleasant and engaged and more than willing to go the extra mile to accommodate your requests. They are first rate!
Room was very nice, and staff on the desk were accommodating. Breakfast was warm, not hot, and one of the wait staff was very angry and it showed in her attention to her position. My waitress was fine Dinner in the restaurant was very good, beer and burger night, but it is noisy. if you do not mind loud staff and customers with 4 T V s facing them, it is a good place to eat
The Sarnia side of the Ambassador Bridge (to Port Huron) is a green paradise by the Detroit River. Best Western PLUS Guildwood Inn spreads comfortably on the Canadian side and "comfortable" is the key word. Easy in-and-out registration, totally comfortable rooms, quiet, clean environment. Everything worked, breakfast had enough variety to satisfy everyone's needs.
I was looking for a beautiful, quiet place to spend the weekend with my hubby. After reading reviews of the different Hotels in Sarnia, I took the bet to go for Best Western. I am happy My first experience was good. The only downside is the fridge which was not working properly, our food went bad. The bathroom lights went off in the morning but it wasn't a big deal for us. we just needed our quality time together and that's what we got. Staff at check in was awesome, we asked for a microwave got it within 5 minutes.Unfortunately they don't have free breakfast during the weekends but the on-site restaurant has a descent $6 breakfast that runs till noon, so that wasn't too bad. Will definitely come back. Room clean, no noise, bedding clean, water temperature just fine.
Our stay was good, they accommodated us having a dog. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was pretty standard overall. One down side which i don't know what happened, possibly a freak accident. The toilet flooded our room the morning of our checkout. It happened to me and 4 other rooms. It was very hectic and wasn't offered a free night or reduction on my bill for dealing with that. FYI the restaurant in the hotel, Shelly's is very good.
I needed a place to catch up on rest and work. This was the place. The room was so quiet, the bed was heaven on earth and the staff were so in tune with my needs. The food at the restaurant was amazing. I highly recommend their pizza. So fresh and well worth the wait.
We love this hotel. The staff are wonderful and obviously the management are committed to making your stay enjoyable. Whenever we are in the area for business or leisure we stay here. Had a great breakfast at the restaurant and we were actually sorry that we went out for dinner as friends of ours ate at the restaurant and said it was terrific.
Stayed with another couple to attend an event in Sarnia. Fast friendly service.Clean rooms and great beds. Updated decor throughout. Restaurant "Shelley's" great breakfast spot. We will definitely stay here again if we come to another event in town.
My stay at this hotel was ok. Ive been to at least 6 other Best Western's in the past year and found this one to be the oldest. I'm sure it was upgraded a few years ago but the rooms are small in comparison. Hotel staff have always been courteous.
I have been staying at this hotel every 2 months for 2 years now, and I love it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I love that they have a restaurant on site. The food is good and the breakfast in the morning is great! I will continue to stay here!
Stayed here on a trip to NE. Very accommodating to our pets. Asked for and got first floor room. Nice thing about that is the room had both an interior/exterior entrance. Very convenient. Hotel gives vouchers for breakfast in their lounge. Although this menu selection is limited, the breakfast was very nice. Eggs, meat, toast, starch and drink included. I have to say every staff member we dealt with was extremely friendly and eager to please. Room was clean, and free wi fi always nice.
This hotel offers the amenities required to enjoy your visit. They provide you with complimentary bottled water, coffee/tea, The National Post and The Star, free apples at check-in. The rooms are comfortable. The décor is welcoming.
A pet friendly hotel just inside the Ontario Border. Stayed just last night and after a days travel it was a nice upscale treat. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Front desk staff very helpful. Convenient side door entrance worked great for pet relief.
Great service at front desk. Very informative. Weight room was in good working condition. Very comfortable bed! Walls in the rooms are a little thin and you can hear your neighbour with some ease. Avoided dining room based on concerns from trip advisor. There is only an outdoor seasonal pool. Fruit at front was a great start!
Stayed 3 nights in suite and more than met our expectations. Very clean and comfortable. Having a back door off the living room was great for taking the dog out. Staff very friendly and newly renovated attached restaurant a plus for breakfasts. Definitely would stay again.
Quiet, cozy room with fast internet - perfect for business travel. Front desk staff was very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The office chair was a little low, but added a couple of pillows off the bed.
We were looking for a hotel close to the bridge as we were on our way for a holiday. After considering another hotel we chose this one and we were not disappointed. We were on the second floor. We didn't think breakfast was included in the price and we were pleasantly surprised to find out we had a full hot breakfast included in the price. We also like the fact that there is a promotion right now that after two stays you receive a $35 voucher towards a third night stay.
We stayed based on reviews I read on TripAdvisor. It was clean and was conveniently located. However, we were quite surprised by how thin the walls were. We could hear people talking in the hall and walking above us. This wasn't average noise and this was not a party hotel. Just thin walls, I guess. The clincher for me was listening to our shared wall neighbor urinate.... Twice. On the upside, very good price and a delicious breakfast included. Best waitress in Sarnia. Use your earplugs if you have them.
Stayed here for one night while I was visiting family in Sarnia. Saw that this had the best rating in Sarnia for hotels and was not disappointed by the price. Was cheaper than the other hots nearby but was thoroughly impressed with the service at my check in to the rooms that were recently renovated. Only thing that we didn't like was how the rooms can be accessed from the street (on the lower floor) but that's just a personal preference. Would stay again
My stay at this hotel was really excellent. the rooms are clean, and spacious. the amnities, the gym are also clean. Tha staff at the reception, evening and morning were very friendly. The only negative thing was in the restaurant, the breakfast was not really amazing, as the fruit that I asked seemed not great.
Every time i'm in Sarnia i always stay at this Hotel. Great service great location. the restaurant has great food great people working there. The rooms are very nice, i wish that the tv was a little bigger. overall, this is the place to stay.
We loved being able to walk right out to our vehicle from our room. This is our second time staying here and will definitely come back again. Close to the casino. Clean room. We have seen larger rooms but not for these prices, plenty of room still with a king size bed, couch, desk, night tables and dresser/fridge unit with plenty of room still to walk around. Clean and comfortable. Cheaper price through the hotel than Expedia and other online sites. We will be back for sure.
The hotel is very nice, well-magaged. My room was a one-bedroom suite. Cleanliness is very important to me, it is a top priority for me above any other while on business trip, or personal ones for that matter. This hotel room, bed linens, remotes..you name it...were spotless. My stay was very relaxing, except for one night when some 20 or so parents decided to have a party in the hallway after their kids hockey game I believe, but it did not bother me that much, as I go to bed very late, and those folks ended their party at around 1:30am. May be it was uncomfortable to some other guests, and it would be nicer for those guests, if the hotel could enforce somehow the no noise policy or no partying in the hallways after midnight. That was only one night. I liked the fact that the hotel provided lots of complimentary bottles of water, towels, bathrobes. The bed was super comfortable: not too hard, and not too soft. I tried their restaurant once for breakfast, and the service was quick and efficient. All employees at the hotel were very welcoming, and nice. The hotel location is very close to the bridge, if one needs to cross to US. I did it, it took me about 20 min the whole process of crossing to US. One important detail: there is no elevator to the 2nd floor. If you have lots of luggage, or cannot walk stairs, ask for ground level rooms. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay, I would recommend it to a firiend. Not sure about other rooms, but this one on the 2nd floor one bedroom suite was very big, comfortable and nicely appointed.
When on a road trip staying in different motels every night, it makes comparisons easy and puts differences into perspective. This was a Best Western Plus, not sure what was Plus about it. Compared to the Best Western Plus in London Ontario, this was a minus. We stayed at the Best Western in London, Ontario the night before, and it was very nice, a lot better compared to this one. In Sarnia, the rooms were smaller, there were numerous little annoying things about the room, like the tissue dispenser metal plate cover that fell on my foot. Room was hot and stuffy even though it was cool outside, there was no vent in bath room. There was a full service restaurant, and with a standard breakfast you could order that was included in the price of the room. The restaurant was nice, and our server was very nice as well. That was the one bright spot in an otherwise pretty bad experience.
Great stay over Christmas. Very pet friendly. Clean. Quiet. Staff r friendly too. Restaurant attached makes it nice for breakfast and room service. Close to us border, downtown shopping and other restaurants
No complimentary breakfast as there is a restaurant on site. Otherwise, it was a good accommodation, close to downtown and the casino. Front desk staff very helpful and efficient. Pool is outdoors. Has exercise room but no hot tub.
This hotel is just near Bluewater bridge and close to downtown Sarnia. We had clean comfortable room. As we had a dog we stayed at end of building. No issues. The shampoos dispensers in shower are always good for those who don't like wasteful shampoo bottles etc. We enjoyed touring holiday light display at centennial park by waterfront. Rates were reasonable with $15.00 extra per night for housing our dog,
The hotel is clean and comfortable and is located very near the casino. This was our second visit to this hotel based on a past positive experience. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and provide great customer service. Our check in with Katie was fast and very pleasant. We stayed in a King Suite during this stay and it was definitely spacious and well worth spending the extra money. The King Suite consisted of a separate living area with a desk, couch (pulls out into a bed), coffee table, chair, mini fridge and a flat screen television. There was a hallway off of the living area with a walk in closet, a bathroom containing a large walk in shower, a tub, and a toilet. Across the hall from the bathroom was a separate sink area with a blow dryer and a large vanity mirror Great to have the sink area on it's own when there's more than one of you getting ready for your evening. There was an iron in the room and it worked very well. The bedroom had a door for privacy, a very comfortable king bed with nice linens, as well as bed side tables with wall mounted reading lamps. There was also a wall mounted flat screen television located on the wall opposite the bed. All was clean and in great working order. We stayed in suite 210 which was located on the second floor at the back of the hotel. If you desire a suite with a jetted whirlpool tub, they are available on the ground floor only. There is an elevator at this hotel if stairs are an issue. The public areas of the hotel were clean and well lit. Our overall experience was excellent! The only thing that was not to our liking was the cheap 1 ply toilet paper offered in our bathroom. We would definitely recommend bringing your own toilet paper for your comfort. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. It definitely merits a solid 3.5 stars. We stayed here as we were visiting family in the area.
Really convenient to the bridge from USA. Only an hour or so to London, Ontario. It's one of the best hotels in Sarnia, close to the waterfront, parks, walking and biking trails. The building is quiet, too, even when lots of people are in the hotel.
stayed before and glad I chose to stay again, good value, location and restful, depending as always on those who stay in the same hotel. Some quests are not always respectful for noise. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the room was very nice
On the plus side, the location of the hotel is very good, first exit after the bridge and on a lovely piece of land backing on a golf club and marina. This was important for us because we stayed with our dog, and we had wonderful space for walking with him and letting him run - not often available with dog friendly hotels. Also, there's a pretty good restaurant attached so we didn't have to go looking. On the negative side, the room and bathroom were very small, though clean & bed was comfy. Noise from upstairs seemed to enter through a vent in bathroom. Service was just o.k. & we found it weird that for a dog-friendly hotel there were no trashcans outside. Also, they hadn't been able to tell us ahead of time - for some reason - that there would be an extra fee of $15 for the dog.
This hotel is tucked away by the bridge to the USA. It is easy to get to from Hwy 402. It is quiet and has parks, pubs and the harbour within easy walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is very clean and neat. The morning breakfast, which was included, was very good with a variety of choices. I would definitely stay here again.
Walked in the room and it was impeccably clean. Bedsheets smelled clean and I felt I was at home. Even upon entering the lobby, the place smelled clean. No cleaning solution odour that masks other smells.
This may be a modest decor but the hotel is as neat as a pin and has everything you want or need. The staff were friendly, the gym was good, the rooms were super clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.
Finding accommodation at the Best Western, Sarnia, Ontario saved us from a lousy stay in another motel. The staff were extremely helpful during a difficult moment. The beds were comfortable and the rooms easily accommodated 3 adults. Breakfast Monday and Tuesday was awesome.
The room had 2 queen beds. Room was a bit small but was clean. The only issue we had was the toilet made a high pitched noise after flushing. This wasn't a big issue and lived with it. The staff was very friendly and quite eager to help with directions when asked. Overall was a pleasant stay and would go back again for sure.
This property is well situated for the business traveller. Restaurant provides decent selection and decent prices. Food is generally quite good. The only minor quibble is that hotel has been in place for some time and while updating is obvious the hotel corridors and rooms are somewhat outdated.
Would highly recommend this hotel. Room was so clean, most comfortable beds, pillows, etc. Everything was great. The various people working on the front desk were so friendly and very helpful. They were able to answer all our questions. It was a great weekend. I wanted to ask where they buy their pillows......
Stayed two nights for a wedding at the Riding Club nearby. It is the cleanest hotel I've stayed at, other than the Trump in NYC. Staff always cleaning and smelled fresh and airy in the room. Crisp white bed linens and lots of towels. Bathroom was spotless. Grounds were nice and neat. We had a rehearsal meal catered in the restaurant's private dining room that was good, not great, but staff there were also polite and attentive. I will return if I'm in Sarnia again. Good job Best Western Guildwood!
We stay here at least twice a year. It is clean, reasonably price and a central location. Breakfast is always done well at the restaurant as well. We used the outdoor pool this time as well. It was very refreshing and clean. Would I go back? Without a doubt.
