Resumen de la reserva
Spent one night in Owen Sound on our way to Tobermory. Good location on the water with walking trails. Stumbled across the arena next door and watched the local junior team play. Rooms were clean comfortable and well maintained. The hotel restaurant was very good.
Probably the best place to stay in Owen Sound. Location on the water is great. Food is very good, staff are friendly and efficient. Close to downtown, easy to get to. View of the lake is very nice from lakeview rooms or the large patio off the Bishop's Landing restaurant.
THE BONELESS CHICKEN WINGS ARE AWESOME they are a must get. (just don't get honey garlic sauce). the breakfast is ok not the best holtel breakfast. They have catering, take out. The rooms are pretty normal to a hotel, some are more fancy then the others like a Jacuzzi. Over all it is a pretty good hotel to stay at.
We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the quietness of the room, which was very clean with a comfortable bed. We appreciated the location with lots of free parking and the close proximity to the waterfront trail. The reception staff were friendly. We had dinner one night in their restaurant, Bishop Landing, which overlooks the water. The meal was good as was our waitress. Will go back if we are in the area again.
Very average hotel. The location is remote, no restaurants really close by to walk to. There is a restaurant on-site but it didn't appeal to our family. We did go to a nearby restaurant called The Yard, it was average. There isn't too much to see or do in Owen Sound, so our family will not be returning to this particular location. The room was clean and spacious, but there was a musty smell (older hotel) and a very loud purring cat in the room next to ours. There is no pool so our family was disappointed that we couldn't swim. There is a very small hot tub and sauna in the spa area, but the room is very hot to breathe in for young kids. Overall, it was a very average hotel and would recommend for business but not for leisure.
The hotel was clean, the staff very nice and accommodating. The room was very nice. The bed was exceptionally soft and firm. Had a great night sleep. I definitely recommend this hotel. I was at the Hotel for a family wedding the food was great. The service was excellent. The staff very very nice.
The staff was accommodating; if we needed something, they would do their best to provide it. The rooms were clean, and we enjoyed the breakfast. The view of the water was amazing, and the walking path was excellent. We could take our dog with us, and not many hotels offer this. We would recommend this hotel.
As a business traveller it is always nicer to be at home , but if I can't be home here is the next best place. I have enjoyed every visit to this location and every meal and beverage. Certainly head and shoulders above many other places I have stayed across the province. The patio is great in the summer. This is an occasion restaurant for many local residents as well - its reputation is strong in the city.
Hotel was good, could include more for the price. The sound proofing could be better when you are in a room that is right by the exit door connected to the hot tub and sauna.
A delightful hotel right on the lake We were very fortunate to be at this hotel as originally we were going to the princess hotel in Tobermory but at the very last minute they cancelled our stay with a poultry excuse to our travel agent who then had to contact us and also find some where for us to stay. Thankfully he did and we then rerouted to Owen Sounds Best Western. The room is excellent plenty of space all the amenities you could want a bathroom that almost caters for my disability one more grip rail to the right of the loo would have made it perfect. The restaurant is well set out and welcoming with a good menu to suit everyone's tastes . The staff are friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place there is lodes of easy parking it a little bit out of town but you could walk in to town in 15 minutes if you are able to.
Unfortunately our trip was cut short due to family emergency so we were only able to stay one night. We would definitely stay there again. The only thing I can think of that could have made our short stay better was if we had a microwave in our suite. We were expecting that it would because of pics on their website. Other than that everything was great
The location is awesome as it's right on the bay and there's a really nice walking path. Parking is decent and the hotel is two floors but doesn't have an elevator. The water pressure is not the best, I found it hard to wash my hair in the shower. The restaurant is very good although a little pricey the quality of food reflects the prices
As far as the restaurant goes service is good ,food is poor .Used to be really good ,not now ! There must be a new chef ! Not a good experience chicken curry dry no sauce ,steak no flavour ! When your spending that kind of money it's just not worth it
We stayed at this BW several years ago in the winter, and knew that we needed to return to enjoy the great location in the warmer months. We weren't diappointed. Our two night stay in room 201 offered us panoramic views of the harbour boating activity during the day, and steps away from a well-maintaned walking/biking trail and parkland. Friendly staff, a spotless room and an excellent on-site restaurant made for a very relaxing and enjoyable mini vacation.
We were greeted right away upon checking in. The staff were friendly and made check in seamless. Overall the stay was fine for 1 night. The room was not cleaned well prior to our stay, we found an earplug by the bed, food in the pull out sofa bed, hair on the walls of the shower and their was grime in the shower tiles. The bed was comfortable, more than sufficient for a quick overnight stay. We weren't there long enough to take advantage of any of the other amenities at the hotel.
Nightmare 3 night stay! 1) the hotel almost burned down! 2) I left at 4am and the hotel called the police on me for NO REASON! I was breathilized in front of the hotel, 3 cop cars, all their lights flashing, waking up half the place! I PASSED, because I wasn't drinking and came back in, asked why on earth Ebenezer, the night clerk called the police on me?! Its the craziest and most embarrassing thing, I'm still in shock the hotel we paid 3 nights for a deluxe room would do that to its own guest! (Btw, the delux room just has a tacky old 90s tub in the corner of the room! Lol) ...Back to the fire... I told them for 2 days that the large planter out front was smoldering, no one did anything, and on the 3rd day I came out to it FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES! So stay here if you want to die in a fire or have your own hotel try to JAIL YOU for no reason. THE WORST EVER!! I am traumatized by my stay here.
My room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the Bay. I also enjoyed the Spa/Hot Tub area for an hour in the evening and an hour in the morning which also had a beautiful view of the Bay.
Very comfortable, pleasant workers, came very clean! Thank you for a great visit and I will be back soon! I love the friendliness and quick service I received rooms clean good food.
The hotel is just on the water. Lovely view from our room. It is clean and very comfortable. The staff go out of their way to help you in the hotel and restaurant. The food in the restaurant is very good. Look forward to staying here again.
We have stayed at the Best Western in Owen Sound on many occasions. We are always made to feel comfortable by the wonderful people who work there, whether at the front desk, in the restaurant, or as cleaners or maintenance staff. The hotel is clean, quiet, and very comfortable. Excellent wifi. And the television is easy to navigate, with good content selection. We will keep coming back.
I had low expectations given the reasonable price and general quality of lodging found in the Owen Sound area, but was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the interior and attention and welcoming nature of the front desk staff. The room was well appointed, and I appreciated the hallway of our room was behind keypad entry.
Simple but clean accommodation with excellent service and a great restaurant. it is conveniently located right next to the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena so if you're looking to go to an OHL Attack game it's the perfect spot… ours was for a concert which was also the perfect spot!
We stayed for one night, our hotel room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The view over the water is beautiful. We also dined on Sunday evening, and Monday morning. Both excellent meals with Friendly service.
Staff are excellent here. They really made the stay more enjoyable. It's right on the bay with excellent views and close to all other amenities. We stayed in a suit which was a perfect place for 4 of us to hang out between outings.
Stayed here for a course over the weekend during a snow storm. Rooms were clean with beautiful views of the bay. Staff was very accommodating especially given the weather circumstances. Would definitely stay here again!
I have stayed at this hotel several times now. It is a beautiful spot along the harbor. Summer time visits are awesome. The hotel staff is nice and helpful. I enjoy staying here whenever I am in the area.
We booked 2 nights, one on points. We ‘lost' our breakfast because we used points… our room key disabled after first night, and internet lost. No breakfast, no internet. Don't use points here, don't stay here…, front staff clueless.
Great Staff and Restaurant, Clean and Comfortable. Coffee set out early for guests in lobby, Much Appreciated. No need to leave the area, but well situated to the downtown area with many options for dinning.
Lovely clean rooms but could not get Problems getting a hot shower in the morning. Water was only slightly warm. No problems with the water temperatures the night before. Could be just an isolated incident.
The hotel was perfect for my stay as I was attending a course. Friendly, accommodating staff, excellent facilities, and great location made for a excellent stay. I would highly recommend the Best Western!
The food was greasy. Anybody who ordered the fish have to take a Syria or two to mop up the grease even the flavor of it was off the lemons they put on top or dry a couple of them are rotted the waitress took her food around to the wrong table several different times so by the time we got it it had been around the room for about 20 minutes and it was cool. The room has black mold in the ceiling and in the air conditioner the hotel hallway is very outdated and the place overall was not cleaned.i tried to show the air conditioner photos.they won't load up.
Excellent place to stay for one night or one week. Close to water. Beautiful walking trails. Friendly staff. Very clean rooms. Great food and Bar. It is our home away from home. We have been there many time and are getting to know the staff. Thank you for all you do for us, attention to detail.
We stayed on the 4th floor and it was quiet, very clean and comfortable. the staff was friendly and very accommodating. If a complaint was asked for, I would say the shower pressure left something to be desired, but it was not a big deal.
The view of the bay at this hotel is amazing. It is next to walking trails yet it is very quiet. The staff are helpful and pleasant. The on site restaurant has a great menu. Good amenities. If you love water it would be a great place for a wedding venue. Rooms were reasonably priced. Although it does not have a pool the whirlpool, hot tub and sauna area also have a view of the bay. Very clean. There is a very small beach next door where you can swim in the bay or take your paddle boards
Loved a recent stay mid week as a little getaway. Beautiful waterfront property. Amazing menu options. Excellent staff!! We checked out the local sites during the day & relaxed in our cozy room each evening. Loved the walking trail right outside the hotel.
Wow What a lovely family the staff at this Best Western at Owen Sound are! From the minute I booked to my final checkout, my husband and I were looked after by a great set of friendly people. All my questions previsit were answered and more by the wonderful Corall , already setting me up for a fab time. Check in was quick and easy - room available early too! Excellent room with view of the Bay (fab beach just across the lawn and water great for a dip) and handy for reception but also quiet. Easy access to ice machine just down the hallway as was the unexpected yet useful laundry room! Daily servicing of room much appreciated. The restaurant offered inside or outside seating right next to the Lake (my fave place) - omg all the food we tried was super tasty and huge portions for a Brit lol The Blueberry tea (!) was a firm favourite and unknown to us before our trip. Also the restaurant staff were incredibly efficient and also super-friendly making our meals feel like family time. We never made breakfast as chose to lie-in but hubby was v happy that free tea and coffee were available in the lobby till about 11am I think. (also kettle, coffee maker fridge and good stock of nice tea/coffee in room) Overall an A+ stay made even better by all the staff we met. If you are staying in Toronto then consider a week up here too A real gem of a place :0)
We wanted to enjoy a good weekend but we saw the bad attention and no to good for rest this hotel and we decided to only stay one night and book in another hotel the client deserves respect, it does not matter if you as a worker feel empathy for this person or not Plus the odor in the washroom Was terrible
We stayed here on our way to Tobermory, I had a problem when I arrived which was my own fault and the staff was very understanding and quick to help solve the problem, The room was very spacious, clean and the view was spectacular on the waterfront, we only stayed one night wish we would have stayed longer, as i said earlier the staff was awesome very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend
This facility is right on Owen Sound harbour, lovely views and fresh air. Close to downtown Owen Sound and amenities, short drive to shopping area. Dining room has gorgeous view of bay. Great quiet spot ahead of visiting the rest of Georgian ?Bay and Tobermory.
The room was great, views on the bay, sunset, - everything exceptional. Beds are very comfortable with mattresses that are definitely of good quality, not 'bouncing'. Very nice area to walk around with park and close to water, 3 min drive from center
Hotel upgraded us to a suite with no extra charge with a microwave when I requested a room with microwave. Good for a stopover for one or two nights. Hotel staff were great, smiling nice and friendly.
No breakfast included, and no swimming pool - just a very large hot tub. I have been to many other hotels with pools and breakfast are priced less, the problem here is that there are not many hotels in the area and I feel like there are taking advantage of the supply/demand. I would recommend driving somewhere else, even if it's an extra hour. You would get better value in blue mountain. To top it off, we got cigarette smoke from an adjacent room and the delivery trucks (maybe for the restaurant) were loud and early in the morning
We had our wedding at Inn on the Bay. It was a wonderful experience. Everyone was so accommodating and easy to work with and everything turned out beautiful! I would highly recommend this hotel for any event!
Weekend Getaway with my partner for my cousin's wedding, we booked the King Jacuzzi suite and it was exactly what we needed. Bed was very comfortable and rooms were well made. The only thing was no room service, that wouldve made the stay perfect.
Very clean and well kept property ! Our room was excellent and we will be back again ! We were there for 5 nights . The food was to die for as well at the restaurant . All employees were nothing less than helpful , courteous and friendly !
Awesome place to stay. The patio was a nice place to sit relax and have a few drinks. Nice that we could have dinner out there. Our room was beautiful. The restaurant was nice. The staff were so friendly. I would definitely recommend Best Western on the Bay.
Snowmobile right to their door! Appreciate being able to drive my sled on a trail right to the door. Very handy. We arrived late so didn't get to experience any of the amenities. Next time we'll try to arrive earlier.
Great location by the lake and across from OHL arena, easy to catch an Owen Sound Attack game. Resturant is nice with a wonderful view. Staff are every friendly and helpful. Fitness center, sauna and whirlpool are setup well. Overall a very Comfortable stay.
As always, we had a great time and a special thanks to Lily and Coral at the front desk for all their help and going that extra mile to make our stay pleasant. We were so thankful to Maegen for the Billy Bishop museum suggestion as we found it fascinating and would highly recommend this as a must do when visiting Owen Sound!!
Courteous front desk staff, clean rooms, comfy beds. Came for the New Year's Eve dinner dance package. Didn't enjoy the dinner and neither did my 6 family members. The DJ was amazing and the bartender Fiona was excellent….the late evening food was very good! Enjoyed the champagne at midnight….waiters and waitresses where very efficient and friendly
Beautiful rooms and very Clean Hotel with a excellent location by the bay and very quiet, with very helpful staff. We had the most relaxing sleep with black out curtains. We have booked it again for our wedding anniversary in February.
Wonderful everything - staff at front desk - room is spacious and clean with 2 KING beds! Plenty of pillows and the restaurant has a fabulous breakfast with gluten free and dairy free options! Also free parking is a bonus!
We were visiting family in Collingwood on the weekend but decided to visit Owen Siound while we were in the region as there were a couple of local siughgts that we wanted to see. The hotel has the best location in Owen Sound being right on the Bay. I mean RIGHT ON THE BAY!
Great location with excellent view. Excellent service from staff. Food very good at restaurants. Check in and out wad seamless. Room are very clean. No load noise and quite. Number one favorite place to stay in Owen Sound. The only complaint I have - the bed pillows are dated and need to be replaced.
This hotel is in the perfect location and is very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The view from my room with the fall colours was very lovely. I would recommend this hotel to all Owen Sound visitors.
Celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary here. Staff very friendly. Room was very comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed the sauna and the beautiful local trail which runs past the hotel grounds. Would definitely stay here again!
The staff had a policy to charge me a day early but I wasn't told called to complain and they treated me rude saying it's policy because it makes it easier for them. Glad it was easier for them. The staff was alright when at the hotel but very rude on the phone.
Enjoyed the stay here Visited tobermory & Lion's head, this hotel was perfect and the lake view behind was amazing!!! There is a small trail behind the hotel and also a park very close to hotel, overall enjoyed it
We went here for an overnight mini vacation. The front desk staff are extremely nice. The room was really nice and larger than we expected. It had 2 windows with the view of the water, a sitting area, king bed and 2 easy chairs by the other window. It had 2 televisions, i for watching from the bed and one for the sitting area. The room had shears on the two windows and 2 heavy attractive curtains to pull at night with a real nice valance. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with towells, etc. They have lots of parking also.
We stayed there for a night. We had two king size bed room, which was reasonably large. The room had a nice view of lake. Staffs were friendly and helpful. There was warm fresh brewed coffee at the lobby which I enjoyed a lot.
Located in an area with a questionable crime rate. Cleaning done quick with many corners cut. Horrible 70's like decor with stinky carpets throughout the building. Desperately in need of renovations but probably not worth it… you can dress a goat in a tuxedo but it's still just a goat.
Wonderful stay in Owen Sound on the Bay. The room was large; comfortable bed, dresser, desk, sofa with plenty of open space to move around. TV was set at a low volume which is highly appreciated when it is first turned on. Although not a complete view of the coast, it was appreciated that a water view for sunset and sunrise could be seen. Moments from the front door is a lovely walking path. Dinner at the hotel was very enjoyable with a good selection of choices. Other than the walking path, the neighbourhood is not one for exploring however it is only a 5 minute drive to downtown.
We stayed in a room where there were other dogs in two rooms beside us and across from our room. It was so nice to chat and visit with other dog owners. Thank you for being a dog friendly place to stay away from home!!!
This property is situated close to trails and Georgian Bay. The view is amazing around it, staff are professional and rooms are well organized. The restaurant offers a good selection of food. Will definitely stay again.
Booked an Executive Room and was assigned room 454. It was dated, dark and overlooked a garbage bin. Why would anyone book the most expensive room option and then not be comfortable opening the window, unsure whether the smell of garbage will waft in during the night? Could the hotel at lease close the lids of the dumpster? Could they build an enclosure that hid the dumpster? Pre-booked so I couldn't get my money back. Their front desk offered nothing to resolve the situation and because it was prepaid, they couldn't care less. They stated the hotel was full but they could have offered an alternative stay date. I chose not to stay but left the hotel and drove back to Toronto. Expedia did nothing to facilitate any customer resolution. If you are booking, ask for a recent picture of your room so you're not surprised.
Upon check in they are very friendly and explain everything you need you need to know about the hotel. The view of the Bay is amazing and you can eat breakfast lunch or dinner on the patio at a great restaurant
I enjoyed the view of Georgian Bay,felt like a resort. The path behind hotel was clean & a good mixture of flowering plants & interesting art pennants along harbour ,The path took us directly to town ‘s market place & variety of shops was as enjoyable experience, people were friendly & helpful.Family & friends group rate for our 2 night event was appreciated.
Stayed at the Best Western on a trip to Sauble Beach. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Kids loved the whirl pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Great to be on the lake as well and to get away from the chaos of the city.
We have stayed every Summerfolk weekend, with the exception of those weekends cancelled due to COVID. We have always found the staff very helpful and professional. The property is is n very good condition and is kept clean.
We stayed in this hotel again, as we usually do at least once every summer. It is still is really good shape. The beds were still so comfy and we slept very well. The room we booked had a mini fridge and a microwave oven, which were really handy. We were satisfied with the AC and the water pressure. The place is clean, in all areas of the lobby and hallways, as well as in the room. All the staff we met at the hotel were so pleasant, from the front desk staff to the maids. The waitresses in the restaurant also provided us with good service. The food is very good in the restaurant and it is quite a large space with a nice large outdoor patio. Although everyone at the hotel was great to deal with, I especially want to mention one front desk person in particular, Coral, who was very helpful and so friendly. I am sure we will return to this place again next year.
Accommodating Nice location Clean Plug in for car Great dining and front desk experience Bike walking path right in front by water Picnic tables nice touch Spacious clean room Easy walk to town and other restaraunts
Great hotel. Rooms are spacious, with beautiful views and a great location. We always choose this hotel when we come to Owen Sound! Kiddos love the whirlpool and the sauna! This is our 3rd time at this hotel and we will definitely be back!
Extemely clean, great staff and pet friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Waterfront path and park area was beautiful for our relaxing getaway. Close enough to downtown area to enjoy shopping and many restaurants. Will definitely be back!
After a 125K bike ride, the hotel was a welcome treat, staff were super friendly, our room was very clean and tidy, we got the whirlpool tub in our room which was perfect after such a long ride, worked perfectly, king bed was very comfy, shower was perfect, all in all an amazing stay, will be back!
I loved the location and the room was very spacious and very, very clean. The staff, FANTASTIC!!! I will definitely return to stay again. We had a room facing Georgian Bay, soooooo relaxing. The restaurant in this hotel, was FANTASTIC. My husband and I enjoyed our meals and the portions were very large. Again the staff at the restaurant were all very friendly.
Love staying at Best Western Inn on the Bay when visiting the area. Short drive to Sauble beach, Sauble falls and many other waterfalls including Inglis falls and Jones falls. Hotel is in the perfect location, with a fantastic view of the bay. There is a little walking path right outside hotel that takes you along the bay with fantastic views of sunset. Hotel is always clean, quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was outstanding as well as dinner. Team members always welcoming on check in. Can't wait to visit again!
This is a very beautiful hotel location. The rooms were large and very clean. The staff had our room ready for early check-in as we were there for a 3 o'clock wedding. The ceremony took place outside at the hotel and the reception was in the hall. Quite expensive for one night stay, but all in all a very beautiful place to stay if you can afford it.
Great stay to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. Front staff pleasant. Easy check in. Room was clean. No issues. Had breakfast both mornings. Good price sevice and food were both good. Fantastic location. on the water with easy access to the bike trail which we took advantage of. Have stayed here before and would not hesitate to stay here again.
I travel a lot for work, stay in hotels through out the year. I stayed at the Best Western by the Bay for just over 6 weeks, so I started to get a feel for how they operate. First of all this is the absolute best option for Lodging in OS, great for business travelers and tourist alike. I've eaten approximately 40 dinners at the restaurant and can't complain. It's definitely above average for hotel restaurants. Staff and Management have been absolutely awesome, I can tell upper management has a true passion for the property and hospitality which works it's way down to the staff. Special thanks to the following staff members who went up and beyond to make me feel like I was home away from home. Front Desk James Michelle Angela Coral Brianne Maegan Food/Bev Kaity Brenda Collete Jenna Nikita I hope to stay again in the future!
Was a great experience, was just disappointed to see o complimentary beverages (water/juice) in the mini fridge provided. The breakfast was amazing in the restaurant. If I also had to complain about one other thing is that the pillows were terrible, they were very flat, was hard to stay comfortable throughout the night
We have stayed at this hotel at least five times, once bringing a relative with us. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoy looking out over the water. The TV and other appliances WORK. (That's not always the situation. We've stayed in hotels/motels around the world.) We enjoy the breakfasts that send us onward on our travels. The dinners are good, but a bit pricey.
Called to make a reservation and was helped by James who was extremely helpful. Restaurant was good. Server was great. Hot tub area was ok, was a little disappointed as there was no actual pool. Bed was comfortable. Not sure the particular room I had was worth $200 a night.,
Too expensive, no breakfast included, poor condition, unfriendly and not helpful staff. When I mentioned my disappointment, staff ignored. Hotel location is by the lake but not much to see. Not recommend.
It's by chance we happened to discover this jewel in Owensound. Location is beautiful, just by the water. Got to see beautiful sunset and sunrise. Had fun by the water and in the little play area. Then relaxed in the hot whirlpool. The front staff and restaurant staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable
Mostly good but just passable because of two items. 1. Sheets were stained. 2. Hotel initially would not honor my daughter's husband's military discount despite the fact that he was absent only due to urgent active duty (shame).
Beautiful lake views and incredible sunsets. Property is right on the water. When we arrived the hotel was changing out their mattresses! Great to know that since the hotel is fairly new. Rooms were spacious and completely booked. Dinner and breakfast were mediocre. Front desk extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again in working in Owen sound again.
Great place for an overnight stay. We didn't use the amenities but were more than satisfied with the room and service at the front desk. The room was impeccably clean and fairly spacious. The microwave and fridge came in handy.
Pool too small. I. Room whirlpool instructions complicated and confusing. Tv too small. Room view incredibly inconvenient location. Coffee maker brutal and supplies in short supply. No extra blanket. No bottled water. Room service garbage in halls all evening and morning not picked up from several rooms. Grossly over priced.
This place was much better than our previous Best Western experience in other city. We had the good fortune to meet Jason, the General Manager, who dealt with our disconnected telephone promptly and efficiently, and explained that there was nothing he could do with our other main problem - the extremely high beds. Apparently that is mandated by Best Western - if they lower the beds so normal people can get into them, they get fined! I never knew that - it was good to know. We had a nice room with a view of the Sound, lots of fishing boats. We only had two other problems with the room - the clock radio had no functioning radio. It wasn't serious. The more serious problem was the lack of a bar by the toilet - an odd omission in a room with a walk-in shower. But the beds (once we got on them) were comfortable, the temperature controls were lovely, the bathroom had a nice large vanity table, there was good desk space and comfortable chairs, and a fireplace. Good coffee machine, working refrigerator. We also visited the jacuzzi and sauna. Pleasant. Jacuzzi was a little tepid, would have liked it a bit hotter. All in all a good experience, with a few minor flaws.
This is by far the best hotel in the city. We stayed here last fall for a family trip, the hotel and location are superb with the beautiful Georgian bay at your doorstep. Wrote returned here for the passing of my mother and did not hesitate to look for the best deal as the staff and location make this an easy decision when staying in Owen Sound.
Great place to stay, clean, friendly on the water. The restaurant is fantastic. I was there in the spring and there was also a huge lake freighter docked close by, it was interesting to see. Locals said it docks there for the winter. I would recommend this place.
Room cleanliness and customer service needs improvement considering cost of stay. Restaurant food was good and server was pleasant, however it was a bit slow due to busy time during breakfast. Clean, but could use some improvement.
Check in was quick and easy, room was clean, comfortable and affordable. Hotel stay were polite and considerate and offered the best room rate possible. Best Western is my first choice for any hotel stay.
We have stayed at this Best Western Hotel in Owen sound three times in the past year. First time was in August on a vacation over to Manitoulin Island and The last two were to attend the Owensound attack games. Convenience for proximity to the Bayshore community centre as well as the excellent service and cleanliness of this hotel is amazing…Thankyou, we will certainly be back !
attended for a business meeting and booked a 2 room suite. i was pleasantly surprised to find not just a couch and armchair in the second room but also a 6 person conference table which was absolutely perfect for our meetings. I will definately be using this hotel again when in this area.
This is a unique spot with lovely views of the Bay, they could do with an update, but it is clean and maintained. What is likely unknown is their fabulous breakfast choice that includes a beverage $10.00 and plenty of food. They should include ham as a substitute for bacon rather than upcharge $2.00. The ambiance of their restaurant is a refreshing pleasure. We recommend you try it!
Good stay. I had a room with jetted tub, fireplace and king sized bed. Very comfortable. The bed was very nice. The tub took a while to fill, but once full it was very nice. Strongest jets I've seen in hotel tub. Bathroom was a little outdated. The baseboard heater was covered in rust, and everything else just seemed kinda meh. Otherwise, very nice room. I stayed here as i was going to a hockey game right next door. Otherwise, there is really not much close by.
This hotel was not prepared or efficiently staffed to accommodate our large group. The room had garbage left behind from another guest, bathroom was not cleaned completely, hardware broken in the cabinetry, ripped bedskirt. Our large group requested multiple times to be given a space that we could go to not be disruptive to other guests and denied each time. Multiple conference rooms were empty. Frustrating for all involved.
Staff were rude and sarcastic and didn't give our hockey team any space to hang out. We resorted to eating our team pizza in the lobby and then when we went to hang out in the hallways they called security on us even though we were not loud or rowdy. Rooms had water damage on cieling and walls and water stains on the lamps. Horrible experience and will never go back
This hotel is clean and in a beautiful location. They were not accommodating from the get go for our hockey team. This hotel is right beside a rink so you think they would have been more accommodating towards teams. They would not give us a conference room even though we had booked 9 rooms with them. They told us to eat in the lobby and then complained we were too noisy in that area. They started to complain about the quiet conversations we were having as early as 8 pm. Do no go here with your team. Their pool can only fit 10 kids too.
Our first time in Owen Sound, looking for a mid-snowstorm getaway. We prefer Best Western, so the accommodation choice was easy. We weren't disappointed. Our King Whirlpool room with electric fireplace was cozy, clean and comfortable. The staff were great, and the onsite restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood is a little stark right now, but recent construction in the area will transform this to a very desirable destination. We want to check it out again this summer. We'll be back.
Nicest hotel in Owen Sound. No pool but very nice hot tub. Great restaurant with excellent views of the bay. I have stayed there when an overnight was required in Owen Sound and I have never been disappointed.
Planned a snowmobile trip and they had a trail right off parking lot, big trail one of main ones leading right to clubhouses and other facility's, we had a great room perfect for a couple it was an overall great relaxing experience!
When in Owen Sound, my first choice of stay is the Inn on the Bay, Best Western. Stayed this week and the cleanliness and service was excellent as it always is. It is in great location with nice walking trails along the Bay.
Good and comfort stay during my business trip. Found it fruitful to stay as close to facilities. Clean and well maintained rooms, microwave shall be provided additionally to rooms. Breakfast shall have more options, if Covid restrictions permits.
I got this trip for my partner and I to relax before going back to work/school. It was super relaxing. I loved the tub! We stayed in it for most of the trip! I have stayed at this multiple times and every time I leave happy.
We really enjoyed this hotel. Helpful efficient staff made us feel welcomed. Beautiful hotel beside the lake. Excellent food in the restaurant. Path along the lake for a walk. Superb comfy beds. Internet works great.
Had a great Sleep. Friendly staff , clean, good price. Restaurant was awesome. Great location. Close to all amenities. Would definitely recommend and plan on returning in the summer time to enjoy the outdoors.
The front desk clerk, James, is amazing! He went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The restaurant was very good. Loved the oatmeal! The only thing that would have topped this stay off was daily room cleaning. This hotel doesn't do that.
We had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was excellent and accommodated our needs. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Hopefully when the weather is nice again we can return and we would be happy to stay here.
I would eat out because the food was over priced and terrible. Hotel staff were great but the restaurant not so helpful. Food was difficult to order and to get to my room - I had to carry the tray on my own and was cold by the time I got back to my room. Salmon tasted overcooked and boiled - not worth it for over $30.
We stayed in a suite so we could have xmas with our grandchildren. The suite was perfect for a small family get together!.The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel was very clean, loved the Christmas trees! Beds were very comfy and room was spotless. We had breakfast in their restaurant and food was good, fast and reasonably priced. Service was excellent. And I was very happy to see that the hotel was on top of covid protocols, saw a lot of extra cleaning happening. Overall, a great place in a nice location (great views of georgian bay). Will definitely book there again when in the area.
There were children yelling and running through the halls until midnight. Phoned desk to complain and was told they are just checking in. Other guests were yelling at the kids too. Completely inappropriate behaviour, zero supervision or respect. Breakfast the next morning was just as disappointing. Food was so bland water has more flavour.
Despite these shortfalls, the hotel and room were fine. Also, the TV remote didn't work properly, but that's hardly a deal-breaker. The location on the bay is nice, and drive to downtown Owen Sound is quick and easy. The staff interaction is short and efficient, as is appropriate for these pandemic times.
Nice large rooms, good restaurant and a view of the bay. There is art by the suites from the local area and the hotel has full amenities including laundry or dry cleaning. If you go North there is a decent path to go for a jog.
Room was dirty took pictures of the cleanliness - excuse was there was a hockey weekend the night before and the staff o we looked the rooms a bit. My daughter cut her leg off of the bed rail and was bleeding pretty good took pictures of cut and bed rail - the room cleanliness and the manager gave us an 80 dollar discount and we paid 140.00 for our stay- I would NOT recommend this hotel - front desk staff at check in were extremely rude - the only thing going for this hotel is it's location !! The beautiful walk on the water and views !
Based on other reviews, I came here expecting a wow experience. Given the price I paid to stay here mid-week during the off season, I also expected that wow experience. Sadly, there was no wow. My stay, however, was pleasant enough. There was no reason I wouldn't go back or recommend it to others. One thing I appreciated was the offer of a snack (water and a chocolate bar) when I arrived. My room was clean enough and the furniture was in good shape. The bathroom showed signs of wear and tear that should be tended to given the price point of this hotel. Also, I would advise others that I didn't find it worth paying for an upgrade to water view… while you could see the water, the shape of the hotel meant you also had the rest of the hotel to look at in front of the water and the placement of furniture in the room was not conducive to actually sitting and enjoying the view, plus in winter, you won't see much unless you are hanging out in the room mid-day, So a pleasant enough stay, just missing the wow one expects from rural hotels in this price range.
The challenge was with cleanliness and overall following of public health guidelines by staff. The daytime and weekend front desk staff were never wearing masks. They felt that being behind some plexiglass was sufficient. One weekend staff (who refused to give her name) said she was working alone, although 5 seconds later another unmasked staff member came out. This sets a poor example to clients coming into the hotel, and is disrespectful of other staff members. In addition, there were candies on the floor of our room that we discovered a couple of hours after we checked in. The hotel gave us a document indicating the COVID protocols they were following, making it sound like there is significant cleaning and checking of rooms, but seeing the candies made us lose trust in them even more. We resorted to re-cleaning our room ourselves. We stayed because we really needed a few days away, but will not be going back. Very disappointed.
Accidentally booked a stay for a conference incorrectly, but it wasn't obvious. A staffer there contacted me to check and what a relief that it was found and fixed. Other good service when requesting colleagues be allowed into their rooms even though I would be in later to pay for them. Breakfast nice restaurant, great food, and incredible flexibility to accommodate vegans and vegetarians.
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Best Western Inn on the Bay. They are doing an excellent job in these very trying times that we find ourselves in. We have stayed at this hotel before and have never been disappointed.
This was our second time staying here over Thanksgiving weekend. We are never disappointed. Lovely location, well kept rooms, delicious meals, great Covid protocols. We look forward to going back again!
A bit pricy for what you get but the stay was great. We had opted the breakfast option in the morning which was a fixed menu that never had the smoothie. It was very good breakfast and the staff was good too. The only problem was, that if you need anything customized, the cooks practically ignored it. For example, if you asked for new bacon and it came with bacon, they would just remove it off the dish and give you the same back. Same with bread as we have someone in our house that is a celiac. You can't just remove it off the plate. Room was nice as well.
Best Western Inn on the Bay provides a spacious clean room, with a comfortable bed that enabled me to have a really good sleep the two nights I was there. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bonus is the beautiful view of the Bay that added to the relaxation of my stay there!
The hotel is nice. It's right on the water. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend and would return. The restaurant is pricey but the food was good. We really liked that there were signature cocktails. We weren't happy that they haven't opened their gym or pool. They are open in other places. There was no breakfast included, which we thought there was, the website is not clear. We feel if all amenities are not available that full price should not be charged. Overall we were happy.
Near downtown Owen Sound, plenty of parking, comfy beds, right on the water, good wi-fi, speedy check-in/check-out, clean. Pretty good soundproofing - we were only vaguely disturbed by a very noisy party next to us. Ask for a room with a view of the water. No free breakfast, some mold in the bathroom, very comparable with hotels which cost $100 less per night. Staff doing their best but several customers in the lobby were complaining of reservation difficulties (room given away). Acceptable.
Best Western on the Bay is in a fab location. Restaurant on site but during covid times need to make reservations. Very close to downton and close to the water. Great parking lot very suitable. We are definitely look forward to visiting again.
Clean, the king room is very spacious, very good wifi connection. Speedy check in & check out. The location is superb because it's just next to the lake. Beautiful scenery!! Love it!! Would recommend this hotel.
This hotel is mediocre. The location sounds wonderful but really isn't. There is so much noise and dust from Construction you can't enjoy the outside. There is not a nice area to enjoy the bay view if there was no construction. The staff were ok. Not rude but not nice either. The rooms are fine. Mostly clean but not as clean as I would expect with Covid. There are not enough safety measures. The only thing we saw were some hand sanitizers which made my hands sticky not clean. The beds were comfortable.
Great hotel with amazing patio that has views of the Bay! Had breakfast with family of 4 there and everyone finished their meals. Food was ordered from the menu and everyone's order was different and all were excellent! Waitress was amazing.
A big group of us, (7 couples), stayed at the BW Inn on the Bay this past July for three nights. As last year, we enjoyed our stay - even with the Covid restrictions. Our rooms were not cleaned during our stay and breakfast was taken care of by bringing our own coffee makers and breakfast items. The hotel restaurant was open for indoor seating (by Ontario Government Covid Protocol) the second day of our stay so we ate dinner at the restaurant twice. Food was good and service was excellent. We really enjoyed sitting by the nearby beautiful Georgian Bay every night and making a little fire. The sunsets were spectacular. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place.
It took a long time to check in and I found the reception area badly organized. The room was good but the basic location of the hotel, although by the water, is in the sad looking area with lots of abandoned and closed businesses, shabby houses and abandoned construction sites.
We have stayed in this hotel several times in the past. We just returned again a few nights ago from a 2 night stay. I think considering how covid is affecting the entire hospitality sector, the hotel does its best to make their guests feel as comfortable as possible. When you walk in, there is hand sanitizer available at the door and by the front desk, as well as in many other spots in the hotel. There is plexiglass between you and the front desk staff and everyone wore a mask. They hand you a sheet of info, providing you with details about all they do to keep you safe, including the products they use to sanitize. The lobby was clean and our room was spotless. Any staff we met in the hotel, from the front desk staff to the maids, were friendly and professional. I have to compliment them on the mattresses. They were practically the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. My husband and I slept so soundly that I even asked the staff at the desk what the name of the mattress was. We are trying to buy a new one for our home and I am hoping to find the same mattress in our local stores. The size of the room is more than adequate. We asked for a quiet room and that is what the front desk rep found for us, room 208. There is a small fridge in the room, a pull out couch and a small coffee maker. A little tip- there is a Metro grocery store on the same street, about a minute walk from the hotel. If you need any items or drinks to put in the fridge, it is very convenient. This was my only complaint, that I found the inside of the fridge not as cold as I would have liked and there was no dial to change the setting. Without hesitation, I would return any time I am visiting the area.
This was alright all things considered. Rooms are dated. Not very close to many restaurants. If you're there for a hockey game or tournament then this will be good. A bit of a drive to get anywhere worthwhile from the hotel.
We were there in mid July, sauble beach and bruce all full so we picked here. pro, - good quiet location, oversee a lake - fantastic restaurant - spacious room, we were in two bed rooms, one with 2 king bed another 'executive room', both very comfortable, a lot of spaces, got a dining table/chair in the executive room con, - don't know if it is air condition or the restaurant, it is a bit noisy in the night - no housekeeping, no breakfast in the restaurant, but cant complain due to covid - not cheap, but can't complain much this high season It is not a new hotel, also due to covid, restraunt not open for breakfast.
Girls getaway (golf and hiking). There are trails right out the door to walk along the waterfront. So nice to sit outback at the picnic tables and enjoy the view and the breeze off the water. The staff are excellent, so friendly and helpful.
The room design was perfectly fine. I'm not picky. Beds were very comfy. Washroom was spacious, updated, had hairdryer, electrical sockets, good water pressure, and very hot water. I'm just going to paste what I wrote re my complaints on the Best Western review: "Make sure staff doing laundry and making beds wear hairnets. Found three long black hairs in bed. Make sure bedding is not totally wrinkled like it was left in the dryer for hours. Both beds looked terrible. Check routinely that windows lock! Our lock was broken and the staff had no suggestion to make us feel safe for the night before the repair guy could look. And then he never showed up the next day anyway. We found a stick on the beach that luckily fit the space to work as a lock. The male staff at the front desk did offer a snow brush but it was too short. Remediate any mold around window or behind wallpaper. My husband had a horrible initial reaction and he is mild sensitive so we think it was mold. He could smell an odd smell immediately, taste in back of throat, and his nose started running etc. He nevertheless managed to stay for the next two nights but had to spend as little time as possible in You need a proper coffee maker for $250/night. Newer, high def , TV." Sorry to the people of Owen Sound that this is such a rough review but it's really helpful for people to know what they're getting into especially if they have health problems. I hope this doesn't affect tourism. And I hope some of these things can be refectified. Some are very simple to change. My husband and I will most likely be future residents of Owen Sound so this could be hurting us too. Best Western please pull your socks up!!! Covid is over hopefully and you survived! Best of luck to you <3
We were actually exploring the Bruce Peninsula but booked our room there last minute and could only find a place for two nights mid-week so decided to stay in Owen Sound for two nights. The first night was at a travelodge and that experience caused us to cancel the second night in order to stay at Best Western…a stark contrast! Service was fine but the rooms were not. Best Western on the Bay had excellent service, clean comfortable rooms in a convenient location.
Angela at the front desk was very helpful getting us a room last minute. Great customer service. We were very happy that we were able to bring our fur baby (dog) with no problem. Happy with all aspects of our stay.
My family had an enjoyable time staying at Best Western Inn on the Bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, roomy and clean. It also had a lovely waterfront view and a restaurant with patio. We also appreciate that they have EV charger available :-) We would love to stay here again next time to explore more of the area.
Staff was extremely helpful, and friendly. Rooms were very clean. Location of hotel was perfect. Although restaurant was not open for indoors, the staff was kind enough to give us a table outside. Great experience
My stay in Owen Sound at the Inn On The Bay was quite exceptional in service and comfort. The whole place is kept well and the staff give you that at home feeling. I find it's different in the country, so much more personal.
The best western is the best spot to spend a few nights in Owen sound. Its right on the lake and has a spectacular view of the lake from their restaurant. The hotel is 4 mins away from downtown Owen sound and in walking distance to several other restaurants and cafes should you want to. The staff is great and the property is super clean and safe especially given covid restrictions.
So, let's start off with the price. Since it's a town with very few options as far as accommodation goes, and the other hotels have seemingly worse reviews, thus it made sense to choose the Best Western when I needed to stay over before an early morning medical procedure. My high hopes have been replaced with worry and disappointment. First, the lady at the front check out must have been having a bad day as her attitude was very apathetic. I received a lot of one-word answers when I asked questions, and when I inquired about nearby restaurants, she simply handed me a bunch of brochures for nearby (closed) attractions - thanks. Upon entering the room (211) I noticed that there was some obvious water damage. No big deal until you notice the brown mildew on the bathroom ceiling. Also the hair on the floor by the bathtub (this is a good spot to check for cleanliness as it's often overlooked by housekeepers.) There was also a hair IN the bathtub, and another on the bed. Now, normally this wouldn't be a huge deal, but given we're in the middle of a global pandemic, it's a bit unnerving to say the least. I also noticed that some things had dust on them, such as the dresser drawers. If things are cleaned daily, would there be dust? Or perhaps it was residue from the paper towel used to clean? I cannot say for sure. The coffee maker didn't work. When I called the front desk to let the lady know she said "well you can buy a coffee from the restaurant." When I reminded her free coffee is included in the room price, she sighed begrudgingly and said I could come get another one. I also mentioned the hair, and she didn't address it, nor apologize. The tv wasn't easy to figure out as the hdmi options are on the side of the unit and not the remote. But when I called again, to ask about the tv, she told me "I don't know what to tell you, all the remotes are the same and it's on there." It wasn't. I figured it out, only to be disappointed that there was no streaming service but hey, good ol cable tv in a room you paid $189+ tax for isn't the biggest deal in the world. At least I can get a good nights sleep right? Wrong. The soundproofing could be a lot better, especially with the windows (which were dirty too.) I could hear people slamming their car doors constantly. When I informed the general manager, whom I must say is a very kind man who seems to care a lot about his hotel, he was apologetic and explained that a lot of the housekeepers are new and struggling to keep up due to covid. I get that but guys, hair in the tub, on the floor and on the bed is totally not appropriate for the given times. For over two hundred dollars with tax, this hotel, in my opinion, as someone who has stayed at many different establishments over the years as a travel blogger, I am disappointed. They have to step up their cleanliness AND their customer service. If they could fix those things, this has the potential to be a great hotel. A little kindness can go a long way.
Usually happy with BW but this location depending on who is at the front will not honor platinum member benefits and try to also skimp out on giving you breakfast tickets if you don't ask (which you shouldn't have to). It's happened to me numerous times here but not once at any other BW. Perhaps a staffing issue but occured one too many times for someone loyal to the brand. Otherwise the hotel is relatively clean and generally quiet enough to get a good night's rest.
Everything is good. Location, cleanliness, service however I wish they could block the connecting door to the other guest room so it's a sound proof. Luckily, our neighbor slept almost the same time with us. I wonder if they are late sleepers I could probably have to ask to be transferred.
This hotel is clean and has an excellent view of the harbour/water in summer months. A great place to stop on your business trips or family stays. I will not hesitate to use this hotel on my next business trip to this area and will consider when travelling in the area for pleasure.
I had a very negative experience at another local hotel (Travelodge Owen Sound) and I ended up leaving 40 minutes after I checked in. I booked at the Best Western on the Bay and immediately upon arrival was impressed by the location and the hotel itself. Ken was a wonderful person from beginning to end. The food was great, fairly priced and convenient. I will come back here every time. Definitely worth the money.
We were treated respectfully by all staff, accommodation was private and cleaner. Food and servers were amazing. Beautiful view, brilliant landscape. A great taste of Grey Bruce. Make your stay convenience and comfortable.
We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions since January and found the staff to be accommodating and the hotel to be comfortable. Now the weather has improved (much to the snowmobilers chagrin!) walking in the hotel vicinity is very pleasant. Food in the restaurant (Bishops Landing) has improved in quality and selection courtesy of Ami Leclaire , the Executive chef. It is nice to see the General Manager helping out from time to time.
The vending machine was not vending the water or pepsi. I asked the front desk lady (one with the glasses), who told me to go to the restaurant to pay for water. Really???? for water??? There is no consistency in the service and response..the gentleman on the front desk offered my bottles of water. I am very disappointed in the response from the lady mentioned above.
We needed to stay overnight in Owen Sound. My husband needed an MRI at the hospital. The Best Western came up as #1 in a Google search. We weren't disappointed. The restaurant was amazing, we would eat there again.
We stayed for one night on Valentines day our room #265 best view ever great friendly staff, super clean rooms. Will def be back We ordered Chinese for delivery they forgot to give us utensils and plates.. The staff at BW was amazing to let us use theres at there in house restaurant.
Efficient check in. Lovely clean room, very comfortable bed and pillows. In general, this hotel is obviously very well cared for. It was a pleasure to stay here and I would be happy to recommend it for anyone.
Our stay in the double King room on the third floor was outstanding. Corner room, windows on two walls, hottest hotel shower I have ever experienced. In the bay may have been the best maintained Best Western property I've ever visited.
Beautiful hotel on the bay, friendly staff, great amenities and the suite with the jacuzzi was perfect! The king bed was super comfy and had an added luxury of a fireplace. We stayed Christmas Eve and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
There's a reason why this hotel is rated #1 in Owen Sound and it definitely deserves it. From its location right by the bay, to its hotel staff who are always polite and courteous, this is the go to hotel if you are ever in the area. We stayed here for a couple of nights in the summer and our experience was really enjoyable. The room we got was really spacious and clean. Would highly recommend.
My stay was great. I was looking for a hotel that was inexpensive, had a Hot tub, as well as the fitness room. And at this Best Western by definitely got what I was looking for. The staff is wonderful the food was great I love the hot tub and having the opportunity to work out while I was away was great. I would definitely recommend this Best Western
We recently enjoyed a three-night stay at the Best Western Inn On The Bay in Owen Sound. In our room there was lots of hot water with strong water pressure. The room was very clean and had a super comfortable bed. The WiFi had an extremely strong and solid signal. As a COVID safety measure, Housekeeping did not come to the room to make beds etc., but we were informed of this when we checked in. Housekeeping did, however, supply plenty of fresh towels when we were out of the room during the day. The room we were in had been renovated at some recent point, as there were an abundance of electrical plugs and the room had a distinctly modern décor. Our room was very near the shore of Georgian Bay so it was peaceful and relaxing to leave the windows open at night and hear the rolling of the waves. In general, the hotel has a pretty and relaxing location and setting. If you plan to eat in the hotel's restaurant, “Bishop's Landing”, in the evening, I highly recommend making reservations there for that evening. Currently, the restaurant fills up very quickly as they have reduced seating to comply with COVID-19 social distancing measures. There are no other restaurants anywhere in the area, so there are no quick and convenient food alternatives except for a Metro grocery store, a 20 minute walk away. We were not able to eat at the restaurant because we were never able to get in. I was able to place an order there, though, and return later to pick it up, returning to our room to eat. It would have been helpful if Reception had told us upon check-in that we would need to make reservations at the hotel's restaurant. The hotel is located in a peaceful spot away from any main streets. This is both a pro and a con – on the positive side it made the hotel a fairly quiet place to stay, but conversely, we found the hotel to be way, way too far out of the centre of town. It's not so bad if you don't mind driving everywhere to get the least little thing, but if you have no vehicle it's a minimum 20-25 minute walk to get to other restaurants, stores, etc. Other than those couple of drawbacks, though, this Best Western is a fine place to stay while in Owen Sound.
All I can say about this branch of Best Western Inn is about its clean rooms as well as impressive customer service. It's located not too far from the downtown and it's in walking distance from Metro and Tim Horton's.
First , the front desk person ( Ken I think) was nice and quick. We checked in a few mins after 4 and all rooms were ready, plus all on the same floor as requested. When we checked in the rooms, we were impressed ( and I not the one that is easily impressed !) . Rooms were SPARKLING CLEAN AND FRESH. We got one of our rooms upgraded which was icing on the cake. The hotel was by the water, so beautiful. This is probably one of the most relaxing hotel stays we have had in Canada. The price was good as well which was a plus. Already planning our next trip back in the winter..
We were very impressed with two things: the exceptionally clean washroom and the excellent service of the woman at the front desk. Great view of the bay from their restaurant, with the marina across the bay.
This hotel follows all the guidelines for social distancing. The rooms are fogged after guests leave. Seen things being wiped down and all staff wearing masks. The tables in the restaurant were set far apart. They do an excellent job keeping everyone safe
this hotel is in need of a major update and cleaning! it has been neglected! I would not stay at this hotel again and I would not recommend it! Current health and travel issues are not the excuse. Disappointed in Best Western!
We just returned home from a two night stay at the Best Western Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound. Our group consisted of a party of 6 couples. The hotel itself is situated by the water on beautiful Georgian Bay. The area appeared very safe and we met many friendly travelers. Due to the present "Covid issue", we were told that check-in was 4:00 pm. Our group arrived and met in the hotel parking lot before 4:00 pm and we were informed that no early check-ins were possible. We were discouraged from waiting in the lobby so we all convened in the parking lot and chatted amongst ourselves happily. (We were grateful that it wasn't raining as it was previously during the day). It wasn't until approx 5:30 or 5:45 that most of the group were able to check in and proceed to our rooms. The last of the couples were not able to check in until 7:10 pm!!!! 7:10 pm?? Seriously? It was discovered that the "person in charge of completing the final inspection of the cleaned room" had gone home, putting a direct affect on not being able to check into the room. Whatever the reason, a 7:00pm check-in is totally unacceptable. It was assumed that the "bagged breakfast" each morning was included in the golf package the boys were registered for. The following morning a few members of our party were told that the bagged breakfasts were $5.00 a piece. Long story short, I spoke to the Front Desk Manager, Meaghan, who appeared concerned and apologetic to our issues and, the next morning, prepared 12 bagged breakfasts for our group upon check out. Due to the Covid issue, once we checked into our rooms there was no maid service. A quick call to the Front desk was all the was needed for extra towels, toiletries, etc. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the hotel staff seemed pleasant. We had dinner in the BISHOP'S LANDING restaurant which was a nice experience. (see review) Had it not been for the late check-in and breakfast issue, I may have rated this hotel a 5. I must say however, that Front Desk Manager Meaghan was very professional. Thank you, Meaghan.
We stayed Sept 12 2020 and the room was as expected, normal "hotel clean", plus it was also "covid clean". They even fogged the room. Definitely pricier than other hotels in the area, but worth every penny!
It is our second time at this hotel. Awesome location by the Bay. Peaceful, picturesque and good service. Rooms are decent size. They have an award winning restaurant but did not try it. Beds are comfortable. Ample parking. There is a scenic trail that starts at the hotel
We had a stay on Saturday night. It was well managed and beautiful property on the bay. We had a king suite with 2 big windows. Beautiful view from window. My kids really enjoyed whirlpool and got tub. We witnessed person coming to check water for whirlpool and hot tub. No late check outs due to covid. King suite had bath robes .
was a great stay and beautiful by the water with only a few things missing. The restaurant wasn't open in the morning and the room doesn't offer tea with the first coffee shop many blocks down the way in town
The location is slightly outside the town. The room looked old but clean. It fits 2 queen beds, a desk and 2 sofa chairs. Some rooms are facing the water. I didn't try the restaurant and gym and thought that they may be closed due to COVID19. Breakfast $5 extra are egg and snacks in a bag. Couldn't comment on the service, only contact with the staff was check in through a glass shield at the front desk. Some guests did not wear masks even in enclosed elevator. It is suppose to be one of the better hotel but also more expensive.
Hotel was clean and private, yet close to all the restaurants, hiking, and other activities we were doing on our vacation. The room was perfectly clean and upscale, and everyone from the front desk to restaurant was kind and friendly! Would 10/10 stay again - hopefully soon!
We are so impressed with this hotel. We needed to cancel and outside of the refund window and they helped us out. We then needed to rebook on a night they were full with a. waitlist and they made it happen! James at the front desk is a superstar. The restaurant was fantastic. Food and drinks were great and the service was unbeatable even though we arrived very close to the kitchen closing. Rooms were very clean and well kept. It's not a fancy resort but can't be brat and we'd stay again for sure!
For our 20th anniversary we booked the jacuzzi and fireplace room (at over $250 per night). I had contacted them to verify. We showed up at 2, knowing the room probably wouldn''t be ready-they have a 4 pm check in. But at 4 when they said it would be another hour I was pretty angry. At 5:20 the desk manager gave us vouchers for the onsite restaurant (not good for drinks and must be billed separately) which was some comfort. Room has all it promised but was pretty average really. I'm not sure having an extra window of view and those two "amenities" above were worth making the cost over $100 more per night. Wifi was sketchy at best. Covid meant no maid service; we even had to get towels for the second night. All in all a pretty big disappointment. We won't be back.
Our four-night stay was definitely satisfactory, in large part because the room was quiet (we didn't hear a peep), but over $180 a night is pretty outrageous given the room quality. PROS - Completely quiet. - Clean rooms although lobby was somewhat dirty when we checked in. - Best water pressure I've encountered in a long time. - Excellent view of the bay. - Front-desk staffer KEN is a STAR, courteously going out of his way to meet our every need, like when our smartphone cord broke and he gave us one, no charge, from lost and found. He also honoured our request for a quiet room with a great view. - Great jumping-off point for adventures in the Bruce Peninsula, and for visiting the outstanding local vegan restaurant The Bleeding Carrot. CONS - Small TV, far from bed, low definition. This is completely unacceptable for $180 a night. - Mattress is too soft. Disappointing. - Lighting in the room is shockingly dim. I have no idea why they want their rooms to be poorly lit. - Outdated shower with a curtain instead of a sliding door, but excellent showerhead. - Unsafe Covid protocols, with at least one member of the cleaning staff never wearing a mask, and still not wearing it after I reported this to management and they claimed they would correct the situation. Also, there is no limit on the number of people who can use the outdated gym, although apparently I was the only person who worked out in this Best Western during our four days here. I'll stay again if they stop charging prices that are more appropriate for a Manhattan Marriott. Thanks Ken for being the coolest hotel staffer ever. ✌️
Title kind of says it all. The hotel is in major need of a few upgrades. Check in was an hour delayed which I get it's crazy times but just tell me in advance and I will try to show up later. Hotel was clean and room was good enough. Though would have been nice to have firm pillows not all soft.
The location was perfect - close to the downtown core, the water, and other towns (Tobermory, Sauble Beach, Collingwood)! You definitely need a car to really enjoy all the surroundings. Since it is during COVID-19 times, we were hesitant to stay in anywhere but our home, but Best Western By The Bay had protocols set in place which were great and mostly everyone adhered to it, and that made us feel comfortable and safe. We stayed there for 3 nights and there was no room cleaning or replenishing of our amenities/towels throughout that time. We understood, and we're more than fine with going to the front desk and asking for more items (eg. shampoo, soap, ...), and the front desk personnel were happy to help with giving us those items. The room was spotless; king bed comfortable; the fridge was great to have there; the bay/trail view was nice; the AC strong. Disliked · Some staff could be a bit nicer, but hey, maybe we caught them on a bad day ?!
We decided to drive on a Sunday. Up the 21 to where ever.... We ended up in Owen Sound and found a Best Western. We had no reservations and I was a little nervous. But! She found us a room and was incredibly friendly. Given all that's going on with Covid, I would imagine the stress and attitudes that these employees are dealing with. She was very accommodating and we were very grateful. The room was clean and tidy. We read the disinfecting policy and it's very impressive! The view was great! Definitely staying here again. Thanks Best Western!
We had a great stay at best western. Very clean hotel and up-to-date clean rooms. Very simple TV setup. There's cable but no fancy movie setup or Netflix option on the TV (but we didn't have time to rent an on-demand movie for our family anyway). Covid made the stay okay but we never used the In hotel restaurant. There's no free breakfast and there's no pool smell but again because of covid ... who would want a pool anyway. If you plan to go there Plan ahead and book knowing they really are working extra to maintain cleanliness.
Excellent location, quiet place, very friendly staff. They also have solid COVID-19 protocols and the rooms are cleaned and disinfected thoroughly. This could delay your check-in but we didn't mind it.
Best Western Inn on the Bay has great staff, great food, is very clean, and incredibly comfortable. The wifi can be a challenge at times, but that is the area, not the hotel. As a native to the area, I know this from experience. I no longer live in the area, but all of my stays will be with this hotel; as a first option.
Not even sure where to begin, my husband and I stayed at the Best Western Owen Sound for 2 nights . When we checked in the girl at the counter was nice but never mentioned anything about NOT doing up our rooms due to Covid. When we arrived back to our room we asked the girl that was cleaning why our rooms were not cleaned or done up . She said she would do them shortly just was finishing off another room ( obviously she did not know that they don't clean "Stay Overs" either ) . As we left the room another lady showed up and said that they do not do "Stay overs" ??? What is that supposed to mean ? Is a hotel not a place to stay over ? Then the other girl beside her explained that they do not clean the rooms while you are there, so if you stay a week your doing up your own beds , emptying your own garbages and basically cleaning up the room so why not just stay home ?? Right?? If you have dirty towels / garbage you are to leave them outside the door and if you want more towels just ask and they will give them to you at your door. Meanwhile someone can take your towels and then your accountable for them . We asked for more towels and there was 2 of us we got one bath towel and 1 face cloth , ya I guess we had to share those towels!!! Then we called the front desk to ask about this " new rule " of theirs . We had the rudist "guy" ( I am being polite here ) his name is KEN!! he told us YES WE WERE TOLD about the no "STAY OVER" cleaning of the rooms. Well KEN ,,, you didn't check us in so how do you know what we were or were not told. Then you went on to say it is on the 3 PAGE handout ( who reads all the brochures when you just want to start your vacation and relax ! ) you give your guests (check out the highlighted part in the picture ) .. only says it will not be provided at this time !! Nothing about Towels being changed or beds made or garbages being emptied. .. He was ignorant and wouldn't let my husband say anymore and hung up the phone on him .. thats customer service ?? Where is your manager clearly you need people skills and learn professionalism .. it could have been dealt another way... These pictures sum up how clean your rooms are , and they are being inspected ?? Really ? Chairs had dust maybe weeks old, mirrors had childs hand prints and no we don't have kids with us , and hair and garbage particles on the floor this is all when we walked in the room .. BUT WAIT ALL THIS SANITIZING THEY SAY AND NO WHERE ON YOUR HOTEL DOORS- LOBBIES OR HALLWAYS ARE THEIR SIGNS TO WEAR MASKS. yes everyone being your guests are not required to put on a Mask?? After contacting Owen Sound bi-laws it is a requirement .. again where is Managerment .. Think twice about staying here ,,we will definitly not be back !!
Staff was very friendly and responsive when we needed assistance. The food was excellent! We really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely stay again and reco to friends and family. Clean and well maintained.
we really enjoy relaxing and calm atmosphere of these hotel, unique location ( lake view) and exeptional cleanliness of the room. We are very grateful for nice service. even in case when we forgot some clothes, they were send to our home address. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We already planned our next stay in this beautiful place.
Staying one night would be okay, staying 3 nights is not good as there is zero housekeeping done. The desk staff was not helpful or informative. I didn't know there was no housekeeping until the 2nd day of my trip & I was told I should have read the paper they handed me when I checked in.
We chose this hotel based on its location. It is right on the water, just out of town. There was so much we could do right off the property. Bike path/walking trail; kayaking; fishing; swimming etc. There were picnic tables and benches on the property so we could enjoy the view. We had great service at the restaurant and the food was very good. All staff were following Covid-19 safety protocol. The room itself had a good view of the lake, and was very clean.
My hubby and I stayed for a few nights. It's been 14 days home and we are COVID free!! I wiped everything down when entering my room for assurance... but I felt very safe with my room and all the surroundings! Went for long walks by the water and also walked through the gardens... Bishops Landing Patio also has COVID protocol!! Well done guys!! It was a nice break! This hotel has 100% COVID protocol in place!!! Until next time ...
Our stay was great from the staff to the room, to the care of cleanliness. We Lysol wiped everything down ourselves for our peace of mind, after that staying 2 nights with no one entering our room was a blessing. Thank you for the getaway we so desperately needed. We enjoyed our stay with no problems.
I would hope yes they start offering continental breakfast, I understand there is covid-19 restrictions but they could still include your breakfast with your room fee and serve it to your room. Giving you breakfast options when you check in and having served to your room in the morning. This would take away the congregating in the restaurant, so I see no reason why they couldn't offer breakfast as this is a staple hotel amongst staysacross the world.
We stayed at BW with a large group for a family function - great experience. The rooms are really nice and updated. Very clean. Basic amenities. Someone in our group needed a pet friendly room which was also very nice. The restaurant has great food and service and a beautiful view of Georgian Bay. I have stayed here many times, and it's the great attitude of the staff that keeps me coming back. Friendly, professional and a Manager that will go out of his way to ensure you have a great stay.
We stayed at Best Western Inn On The Bay as part of a family wedding group. Rooms are spacious, service excellent. We had breakfast in the dining room and everything was good - again excellent service.
I had a weeks stay in this hotel (actually checking out tomorrow) and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. The front desk staff are always so cheerful and accommodating and the restaurant staff are just as pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very quiet and comfortable. I travel a lot for work and stay in a lot of different hotels in Ontario but I have to say this one is probably my favourite.
Great hotel, rooms are clean, well appointed, beds are comfy. All the staff were wonderful, Always greeted with a smile. Restaurant is really good. Never had a bad meal. Would highly recommend this hotel.
The Inn on the Bay is the best hotel in the area, hands down. It can be trusted on for a warm and comforting welcome, a good night's sleep, delicious food and exemplary service. If you are looking for a hotel in the downtown area, but yet want quiet, a view and ambiance, this is the place to stay.
Nice secluded location and view but the room was just in ok shape, I expected a bit more flash and cleanliness for the money. Quite a bit of howling noise and it really wasn't that windy. Restaurant was nice and the food was decent.
When I visit Owen Sound - I always stay at The Best Western In On The Bay! I can count on the hotel staff being friendly and helpful. Its clean, classy and reasonably priced. The location is wonderful - on the water. They even sent me a Christmas card this year!
We had as usual a great time food excellent, rooms clean and comfortable, bed was so comfy and great service. We will be back, love the view and and close to everywhere we wanted to go. Also an enjoyable jacuzzi
Room was fabulous with a great view of the bay The new years eve function was great except the lunch was brought out a way too early, on new years eve who wants to eat at 10:pm should wait until after midnight
What a great destination for Christmas!! Great Hotel and some of the best prepared food that a Hotel can offer is only topped by the level of service in this water side pet friendly resort paradise!! This is not our first experiance staying here on a holiday and never disapointed!! We will be back again in the spring!!
It is always an incredibly positive experience for me to pop into the Best Western Inn On The Bay. The staff always make very evident efforts to make you feel right at home. Very welcoming atmosphere. Clean and very nicely decorated. This is the spot if you plan a trip to Owen Sound.
The hotel is modern and well kept. It appears clean and the room was in excellent condition. The restaurant was clean and the food quite good. The evening staff was conscientious and attentive. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the morning staff. Perhaps I hit on an off day.
We stayed here at the end of November for a few days for a series of meetings. When we arrived, I requested a microwave to allow me to heat a therapeutic pad, so the manager upgraded us to a suite which so nice to accommodate us. The room was excellent and overlooking the bay. All the staff including the restaurant staff were genuinely friendly and made the stay (through a winter storm) so much more enjoyable...almost making us want to stay longer. The restaurant was also very nice as was the food and service again with a friendly smile.
I stay in hotels in Owen Sound all the time and this was my first time at the BW. I will not go back to any hotels as this was a much better experience, clean and comfortable and the food is great . The beds are extremely comfortable. The spa was an added bonus and very tranquil and relaxing experience with an amazing view
We visited this hotel for a two nights stay as I needed a medical procedure done in the nearby hospital. I required a few “extra” items in my room and they were provided willingly and promptly. At check in when I explained the reason of my visit, they informed me that a discount would be provided to me as I qualified for a medical stay discount. This was a surprise to me, I have never heard of this before. The front desk staff was efficient and friendly. The hotel is clean and the rooms clean and fresh and the beds very comfy! I would stay here anytime I am in the area!
We stayed for hockey tournament in Owen Sound. It is conveniently located across the rink. It was a walking distance to the Bay Rink (across the road) and 4 km to another rink. The stores are also very close by. Staff was very helpful. The rooms are clean. There is a nice Jacuzzi and hot spa room. I would definitely recommend this inn for hockey tournaments bookings in Owen Sound
Exceptional hotel with wonderful service, great food and a fantastic view. Lots to do at this hotel and the surrounding area. If you are looking to host an event in the Owen Sound area, this is the place to have it.
This was not my first visit to this hotel and will not be my last. Everyone in the hotel is friendly and helpful. When staying in Owen Sound this is the only place I will stay. Regardless of the room - and I have stayed in all the levels you will find them clean and quiet. Try the restaurant as the servers and kitchen staff bend over backwards to accommodate my many food allergies and sensitivities. In the summer I lived in the hotel for three weeks and enjoyed the same level of service. The consistency of satisfaction is what I enjoy the most.
My go to place when in town in Owen Sound. Have stayed some 10-12 years here and looked after with lower floor needs with my bad left knee. Have always had a great stay and sleep here. Must be the clean air and by the water for the night sleep. Some 15 hotels, 15 different beds in 3.5 weeks of travel and one of my better sleeps for sure.
Reception was friendly and helpful. He gave me better directions to my destination than Google Maps did. Room was clean and had updated furnishings. Just wish the window had opened more than 5 inches. I realise it is the end of the summer season but the carpets need a cleaning, pack your slippers. Wish hotel/motels would install laminate flooring. Nice bathroom but the shampoo smelled like coconuts, glad I brought my own. Nice soft robes in the closet but those theft proof hangers can prove challenging. Kitchen area was nice but again, bring your own tea bags, they supply gawdawful Mother Parker's. I was surprised that the tap water tasted good. I was expecting chemically chlorine or fishy bay water flavour. Dinner was so so, not worth the $45 I paid for a drink and Prime Rib. Definitely not 5 star chef worthy as I had been informed. I was too tired from my journey to drive back into town and fight construction and blocked off roads though, so was grateful they even had a dining room..
The room itself was moderate but comfortable. Most hotels that we have stayed in had either a continental breakfast or a full breakfast included with the room but this had neither. I guess I should have looked closer on Expedia but I took it for granted that breakfast was included. Not a good deal after all. Oh, but if you wanted breakfast, don't go to their restaurant, it's way too expensive.
Wonderful welcome late at night. Wonderful room, fabulous bed and 4 pillows. Clean, roomy, well appointed, quiet and comfortable. Wonderful extra services by staff accommodating g special needs Fantastic restaurant and breakfast ( included) and the absolute BEST coffee I have had in a very long time, Seamless registration and checkout. Here is the amazing view from our breakfast table.
Totally satisfied with our experience. The staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms were very clean. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on that. Within walking distance to the Bayshore Arena.
We came to Owen Sound for a wedding on Oct 12. We chose the Best Western as looking like one of the better options in the city. All was OK until it came time to go down for breakfast on Sunday morning. On arriving at the dining room at 10am we were told that it was then closed to prepare for "thanks giving brunch" and would not be open again until 5pm. That seemed a very strange excuse but I asked again and it was confirmed. I complained at both the restaurant and at reception, especially about the only notice that we received was when we arrived in the morning for our breakfast. I was not at all happy that hotel guests were being displaced by an "event". The response we received at both locations was totally dismissive and, even though it was delivered with a false smile, it was clear that we were regarded as a problem that they had no interest in acknowledging. The suggestion that they made was to offer a complimentary cup of coffee or tea, which I found quite insulting. I will think twice about ever staying at a Best Western in future.
My partner and I stayed here for a night and were very pleased with this hotel. Friendly, obliging staff, very clean and comfortable room, food and service in the restaurant, Bishop's Landing excellent with a great view. Would highly recommend.
very nice surroundings and friendly staff. the restaurant was high quality and well presented. i particularly like the secure top floor arrangement. front of desk staff are keen to assist. lots of parking and a special slot if you are into electric cars. still free at the moment. maybe i should ask for a gas voucher is they get free electricity?
I've stayed quite a few times at this property, for work. There is a newer wing that is well appointed and bright and then the older wing that is quite dated, small and run down. I unfortunately was given a room in the older part this stay. Although a platinum Rewards member, they did not offer to upgrade the room. There is no breakfast included but the restaurant is really good. The staff has always been friendly and the rooms and property always clean. For the price, I really question the value of this property. Unfortunately the choices are quite limited in Owen Sound and that is what allows them to charge higher prices.
The setting is stunning, on the east side of "TheSound", easy walk to the centre of town, or they have a flat rate for a taxi that takes you anywhere in the city. Lots of great dining spots starting with the dining lounge at the hotel. Make the " Inn On The Bay" a weekend destination and you will be hooked for sure!
Newish hotel. Room 102 on the ground floor was a generous size king room at the end of a wing so lots of privacy. It even had 2 tv's and a sofabed. It was also next to a whirlpool, sauna, hot tub that was underutilised, so don't forget your swimsuit. Included breakfast was ample and the coffee full flavoured.
This is a great motel located near the arena where we were going to see our grandson play . So convenient . The meals were delicious and reasonable. The waitress went out of her way to serve us . Will certainly return and tell our friends.
My only complaint is having no breakfast included in the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate and the location topnotch. Did I mention they are "biker friendly" ? Preferred parking for the Harleys is an added bonus.
We needed to get away to recharge and experienced a very peaceful and pleasant stay. Thanks to 'Ken' who booked us into a great spacious room overlooking Georgian Bay. The room had everything we needed and plenty of towels. I think this was the first time I had more towels than what I used.
The Best Western Inn on The Bay is located in a beautiful spot. I was able to go walking on the trails in the area which I usually don't get to do on work trips. Although their fitness centre was lacking, the staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. There are no microwaves in the regular rooms but the gentlemen at the front desk were happy to warm up my meals I brought from home :). The large whirlpool was quite cool when I tried it, but the smaller one was nice and warm like a hot tub. Sauna was great also and it did heat up very fast. Overall a great stay and will definitely stay again whether for work or for pleasure.
Could not have enjoyed it any better great job by the staff, will gladly stay there again. The restaurant food was of the highest quality. We had breakfast and dinner. Our server was one of the best ever.
Excellent place to be! Will be back for sure. Food and accommodations are excellent. Highly recommend this hotel. Clean and well maintained. Location excellent and near some walking trails and on the water.
We were 5 in 2 different rooms Breakfast had 3 days old fruit salad! Dinner was average R They came to do our room at 5 pm ! We were out from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and they did not manage to do the room during all that time! Since we were in the room they never donner the room! Unacceptable when you pay 250$/ night
We were there as a base for a day trip up to Tobermory approximately 100 km to the north. Quick check in and check out. Lobby was clean and open. The Hotel is located right on the water with a nice walking path right beside it around the local community centre. The room was clean and fairly roomy for a single King bed and the window had a view of the water. The hotel is just a minute's drive to downtown Owen Sound so close to restaurants. All in all a nice place
Best Western hotels are generally reliable places to stay and this property did not let me down. It's in a perfect location, right next to the Sound, about 1 km from the downtown area. It has plenty of parking for cars and larger vehicles. Check-in was quick and efficient with the front desk staff recognising my Best Western status - always a good start. There is an elevator to the upper floors. My room was large, clean and comfortable, with good wifi and a fridge. The hotel has a restaurant and bar where meals and drinks can be enjoyed on the patio, weather permitting. I had breakfast on one day of my stay and it was very good at a sensible price. Happy to return when I'm next in Owen Sound.
My husband and I wanted a getaway from the big city. We saw this hotel was on the water, so booked a room and had such a great stay. First off..this place is so clean! Everywhere! The people at the front desk were welcoming, and there were wonderful cookies to enjoy there. Our room was a good size and had two queen beds ..which we found comfortable. In many hotel rooms we have stayed, pillows aren't great. The pillows at this hotel were wonderfully real comfortable. Our room had a fireplace and two windows which made it nice and bright. There were two comfy chairs (not just one as in a lot of hotels). We sat and enjoyed coffee and a morning chat. There's a patio with great choices on the menu and the food was terrific! Sitting out, over the water..watching the sunset was really lovely. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. There were no negatives about this place! We will return. For sure!
A great place to stay that has great attention to detail and customer satisfaction. Has to have the most friendliest staff of all the hotels we stay at and sets the bar high for other hotels and the service and decor they offer.
The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were very nice and helpful. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms especially when they cleaned our room after the first night we stayed. The pool is very small but the lake is right next door.
We stayed here for 1 night. Hotel is very nice, good size rooms, beds were soft. No pool but a whirlpool and sauna. The bay was beautiful to walk around. There is construction around the area and some roads were closed.
Stayed two nights at this hotel after using it 6 years ago for a similar stay. Hotel has been modernised recently and we saw a number of positive changes. Room was well appointed and despite hotel clearly being busy, never heard a sound all night and we are light sleepers. Very friendly staff on check-in and numerous vending machines offering snacks etc. Nice setting on the bay, although not the most attractive part of town. Would definitely use again.
Nice place for a day away. Close to nice beaches and scenic areas. Went swimming just outside hotel. Restaurant food was good and worth the price. Room was roomy and fit our needs perfectly. To bad breakfast was not included.
It seems to be a new hotel, our room (101) was large and quiet, perfectly maintained and clean, with brand new furniture. We could see part of the lake from our room, including ducks, gooses, and other birds. It was well locate, close to the lake shore where we could walk and enjoy the beautiful sunset. At the same time, this hotel is very close to Shoppers, Rexall, gas station, etc. Easy parking (free). Staff was extremely kind. Restaurant was great (see specific post). We recommend and we will come back!!
Fake Advertising with “Breakfast Buffet” as it does not exist, only a small menu of very limited meals are included with the rooms. Restaurant breakfast was not buffet, only prepared breakfast combos. See photo. Major security problems due to lazy and unaware staff. Our door access card did not work and needed to be reset at the front desk. I accidentally told them a similar room number by mistake. The clerk then reset the card to access the other room, not ours. I had no idea of this until my card wouldn't work and then realized what transpired. If the clerks are not savvy to know who is staying in what rooms, then it would be very easy for any guest to reset a card to any room of their choice! That's very scary for a hotel that charges $200 + / night. During our 4 day stay, staff never smiled or said hello to guests passing by in the hall. Some look very miserable, while others act in a very creepy like manner. Overall, we would rather pay another $100 to stay in a much more pleasant atmosphere where we do not feel that we are inconveniencing staff. We will never stay at this hotel again.
Hotel overlooked the bay and was beautiful. My family sent a lot of time in the whirlpool overlooking the water until sunset. So much fun! The lounge was nice and we had a great breakfast in the morning. Will recommend to others.
Not sure what the alarm noise was making all the time we stayed there walk around the property geese crap pain Pathways very very bad overall would not stay there again the website showed the picture of the pool which was not a pool very very small would recommend them to tell people how big the pool is in the picture makes it look like it's bigger than it actually is
Fab Hotel and room, we hade the junior suite with a king bed. Incredibly clean room, immaculately presented and again as per Bishops landing Restaurant the staff were first class. The room of course had the standard fridge and coffee maker, although a with the majority of other hotels a microwave would have been handy.
Very sad experience even checking in at this hotel. The old guy (I guess Andy) at the front desk is extremely rude. Thinks he owns the hotels and makes you feel as uninvited guests. I read another complain about him in someone else's review. The Lake view room we got, faces the parking lot. You can see a glimpse of the lake through gaps of glass. We're staying here from 11th July through 14th July. Let's see how the rest of the stay goes. Will edit review if anything changes till check out.
We have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and it's always a solid choice. The rooms are clean and have plenty of space. The beds are a bit too firm for me and I would like more USB plugins, especially by the bed, but that's not a deal breaker. Breakfast is not included with your stay. We did eat breakfast and dinner there and both meals were very good. We enjoyed a long walk along the bay at sunset, it was wonderful. There are lots of benches, wildflowers and a small garden along the paved walk - great for photographers. There were people fishing and swimming here and they seemed to be having fun. Check in/out was easy. We would stay again.
Nice location of property, just beside the lake, with a trail - convenient for morning hike, or stroll. Nice view of lake! Room conveniently furnished with king size bed, small kitchen, and good quality sofa-bed. We were pleasantly surprised that the sofa-bed mattress was very firm - unlike others, so we didn't mind sleeping on it. The small kitchen was convenient, with kettle, coffee maker, microwave oven, a few dishes... First night, we needed bedding for the sofa-bed, house-keeping came almost right away! Overall, very good experience.
We were at the Best Western on the Bay as Parents of the Groom. We were there 3 days and 2 nights with many of our Friends/Family staying 1 night. The entire process from securing multiple blocks of rooms, group rates, determining facility needs all from a distance was EASY, EFFORTLESS but most of all...there service was EXCEPTIONAL. Their “Reception Coordinator”, Hailey was Professional in all dealings, ACCOMMODATING with all things and left no stone unturned as to what the Bride and Groom wanted. Hailey even had covered the things they never mentioned or thought about to ensure their day went beautifully. Wonderful job by Hailey and Alex.
We were there for one night. The hotel is located on the bay, as the name implies. The views of the water are nice. Our room was in great shape and clean. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The hotel was quiet, considering there were lacrosse teams staying there. The restaurant was good, the wifi was good....it was all good. My only issue was related to the credit card with which I confirmed days earlier. The morning of my stay, the manager sent me an email saying that my credit card didn't work and I had until 3 to give them another card or my reservation would be cancelled. In fact, there was nothing wrong with my card and when I called them, I gave them the same card. clearly, they had keyed something incorrectly. I was lucky to check my email that day because I had only a few hours to correct a problem that wasn't mine. It was a small issue that could have been a big issue as the hotel was close to sold out.Thankfully, the room was great, the staff was friendly and my stay was comfortable.
Updated, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and linens. Excellent restaurant with outdoor patio overlooking the bay. Pleasant staff that were very helpful. Located right on the Grey Bruce Trail along the water (fantastic for morning or evening walks) and very close to downtown for business. Great hub for all North/West Central Shores Business travels. Small but well-equipped gym (didn't get to use the spa as it was shut-down during my visit). Breakfast and coffee was great and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I will be staying here again for my next business or vacation trip to the area.
Just returned from a two nights stay. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was a very good size with lots of storage and counter space. Location on waterfront was lovely and there is a walking path. The hotel is a bit outside the town centre so walking downtown probably wouldn't be an option. (2k) We didn't try the restaurant. Lots of parking. We would stay again.
I very much enjoy staying at the Best Western on The Bay. The greet me every time with a smile. They have renovated all the rooms and they look even better, more WOW, laid out nicely with lot's of room to be comfortable. They make sure I get the same room at each visit.
The hotel and room were very clean. I would say things were a bit dated in the lobby but the rooms seem to have a bit of modern decor. I didn't spend a ton of time in the hotel as I was at a wedding but the view of the bay out the window was gorgeous!
I haven't stayed in any other hotels in Owen Sound, but I wouldn't look for another one if I were to return. The property is slightly off the main street, but that makes it perfect for peace and quiet while still being very good for what you would want to do in town. The downtown restaurants were a short walk and the local golf courses were a short drive. And not too far from Tobermory. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from my room great. I had breakfast at the restaurant both days and very much enjoyed it. The staff took great care of me. The only imperfection I encountered was the shower not functioning at 100%, but it was good enough to get the job done. If you are going to the area, the place is worth checking out.
Inn On The Bay was pleasant getaway after a long cold winter. Many areas to walk along the water's edge, conveniently located at the hotel. Many parks and waterfalls to explore and return to our comfortable room for the night.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff was courteous and helpful. Room had partial view of the lake which was a pleasant surprise. Onsite restaurant was very good. It was too chilly for the restaurants patio seating but I'm sure it would be lovely to sit on the patio which has view of the lake. Walking trail and benches around the lake.
Over all was nice and good. But bed bugs troubled my wife a lot and followed us to our home. That is really what I never expected. I never had trouble like this before I usually travel over weekend to differnt hotels and never had this issue before.
Stayed here one night for business. Gentleman at check in was friendly and engaging, we had a long chat about the upcoming NHL playoffs. I enjoy how this propert recognizes status and was upgraded to a large suite. Room was clean and comfortable. Always a great stay.
This hotel although a little pricy for the area it is the best Hotel in the area I have stayed at so far. And as my son is at college in Owen Sound we visit often. Rooms ver nice great breakfast at very reasonable prices, Staff Great
THe hotel was very nice, my king size bed room was large and comfortable. Shower not the best from cleaning standpoint. Front desk staff very friendly. Restaurant I would not recommend. Beds are comfortable, internet was great
Apparently this is the best hotel to stay at in Owen Sound. So far it has been very good, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and share the best places to go. The only thing missing is a pool. Nicely laid out, clean rooms and lots of parking. If I am ever back in Owen Sound this would be my first choice.
We were at the Inn on the Bay for business and stayed two nights. Overall it was a very satisfactory experience. Special kudos to the restaurant wait staff. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and we had to battle whiteouts following our departure, but that's another story.
The food at the restaurant is fantastic, and the staff are amongst the friendliest I have come across. They continually go above and beyond to ensure every aspect of your stay is to the best of their ability
Fast, efficient check in. Friendly staff at the front desk. The room was very spacious, clean, comfortable. Most important, it was very practical for work. Extremely comfortable mattress. Everything worked well.
VEry nice restaurant with great efficient staff. WiFi worked flawlessly. Room decor was a little bland. have stayed previously and love their hot tub and fitness centre. Stayed there for business and staff were very efficient at printing documents we needed and bringing us lunch. I always stay at this hotel when in Owen Sound. My one complaint was that I found the coffee in the restaurant weak, but that is a matter of taste perhaps.
Excellent hotel, clean and staff were wonderful, efficient and friendly. The food was delicious and very well presented. The music and dance were great fun. The dance floor was full most of the time. Our rooms were really very nice, we were upgraded by the manager because we have been going to New Year's for the last 5 years. That was really thoughtful of him.
Room clean, comfortable bed. Price for a suite was reasonable and was quiet. Friendly staff. Restaurant food was average but the turn off for me was the gratuity being automaticly tacked on to my bill. Won't eat there again because of that.
Again a wonderful experiance!!! At check-in Mercedes was great and had everything ready for us and our small group. Maegan was just wonderful at checkout and once again made us feel like family and wished us a Merry Christmas and a speedy return to the hotel which we will be doing soon!!! Ken was also helpful in providing local advise and so pleasant to deal with. The ladies in the restaurant where also great on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!! Sorry I did not get their names but are all wonderful working as a team to make sure our water, drinks etc.
Best Western helped the Alzheimer Society host and co-host 3 events in 5 days. All of our guests for our many different events had a great time. The food was excellent, and the price very reasonable considering the excellent help and service we received. We had 3 very different events, with different menu's, pricing options and people attending, and the Best Western went above and beyond to help us ensure all events were organized just the way we like, and more importantly, the way our guests liked. -Stephen Musehl Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce
This is by far the best hotel in the Owen Sound area, the rooms are clean and bright, you can find enough plugs for all your electronic devices and having a top class restaurant right on the premises makes for an enjoyable stay every time. The staff are so welcoming and always seem to have a smile on their faces and greet you in a warm and friendly way
From the moment of arrival you are greeted with warm friendly faces. The room was clean and spacious. The food at the restaurant was excellent and service was first rate. You arrive as a guest and leave as part of the family.
Ken was fantastic with my booking, kindly offering me an upgrade while on business. As a Best Western rewards member, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is my first choice when in the City. The restaurant always has outstanding food options and service. Thank you for the amazing customer service.
hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. only complaint was with the bed, which wasn't comfortable at all. I have stayed at this hotel several times and have always had great service and this is the first time I have had a bed I didn't like, otherwise, this is a great hotel to stay at when visiting Owen Sound.
You will enjoy your stay at Inn On The Bay .... beautiful location and view of the water. Restaurant has an excellent menu ant the food was delicious. I would recommend Best Western hotels if you are planning to visit Owen Sound.
Stayed here 1 night on business. I go back and forth between the BW in Walkerton and this one. While this hotel is not as modern and new, any short fall in appearance is outmatched by the staff. They clearly make the difference. Right away, Ken at check in is always personable and welcoming. He really makes you feel like you're at home. During my check the lady was friendly and genuine as well. Any associate you pass in the hall way ensures a smile and Hello.9 This is also the ONLY BW the actually honours the BW rewards program by always offering a room upgrade for platinum members. This is a huge advantage over the BW in Walkerton, where they seem to have very limited knowledge of the rewards program overall. The rooms here are clean and neat. The location is quiet as well. They are certainly the best hotel in the Owen Sound area. It is brand ambassadors like Ken that truly make the experience different! Good luck digging up your Dahlia's Ken :)
The rooms were good but over priced and the food was excellent but over priced. $24 dollars for a bowl of stew. No offer of express checkout and no assistance to check for my rewards card. Would probably not stay again.
We recently stayed at Best Western Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound which was a wonderful stay. We had a nice view of the bay. There are wonderful walking trails behind the hotel along the bay to enjoy. The hotel is right beside the arena. Our room was clean and well maintained. Our bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Hotel staff were friendly helpful. Wonderful stay and we will visit again when next time in Owen Sound.
Nice, clean hotel with beautiful views of the Sound. The restaurant was a very pleasant surprise with the same wonderful views, an excellent menu and staff that went out of their way to make you feel at home.
Our room was very clean.modern and well insulated from outside noises. The bed was very comfortable and the washrooms very clean and user friendly The staff were friendly and very accommodating as we were early and I was to chair a committee meeting which was close to being started. They made a special effort to get our room ready as I needed to change my clothes before the meeting.
My wife and I stayed here overnight and were very pleased. Friendly staff, very clean room which included 2 complementary bathrobes. The bed was very comfortable, good WiFi and so good pillows. The staff were very helpful with our needs and questions. The waterfront location is beautiful and it is located in a quite area. Very happy with this stay.
I usually stay away from hotel restaurants - but in this case I think it well worth your while to check out. First there is the view - of Georgian Bay so that's awesome. Next, when you're done your meal, you can stroll along the Bay and get an even closer look. Third, the food is actually really good. I had gluten free fish and chips (they had quite a few GF options) and it was really tasty. The service was also really good. Oh, and if you like hockey, the Owen Sound Attach JR A team play, literally, in the Stadium 1 minute away.
Here for 1 night only with friends. Room was fantastic, ,actually a suite. Bed was comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the bay. Bathtub was a bite steep, as they had no hand rails. Breakfast was good as well, full breakfast, or french toast, smoothies, western sandwich. All good....
Extremely accommodating staff who are professional but friendly. The lounge has the best view in town. Access to waterfront trail and sunset views not to be missed. Comfy beds. Addition of indoor pool would bring this hotel in ratings, especially in non-summer months. Best hotel in the area.
This hotel exceeded our expectations from ease of booking, through check in and departure. The room was spacious and clean and everything worked. The restaurant was excellent! The only problem encounter was with the internet and staff addressed this efficiently and advised us as soon as it was working again.
Arrived at 4:00 pm with no reservation. Got a ground floor room with a water view. Also got extra points and upgrades when I showed my "Rider's Reward Card". Never disappointed with Best Western !!! Prefered parking for our motorcycles too.
First time stay overnight in Owen Sound area...and what a delight. The hotel borders a waterfront walkway with pretty gardens and a peaceful atmosphere. Room 355 was large and very comfortable with water view. Internet was fast. Dinner in the Bishop's Landing restaurant was fine with friendly service. Only beef is with an antiquated accounting system that forces front desk manual checkout. Look forward to our next stay here; we will definitely be back.
Reasonable hotel, very friendly reception made us feel welcome, breakfast was ok. Easy walk to town, although footpath wasn't lit so take a flashlight at night. Laundry not working was an inconvenience.
We very much enjoyed out stay. We will stay here every time we visit Owen Sound. Staff were courteous. Rooms were lovely. Beds were comfortable. Easy acess to the Tom Thompson trail made daily morning walks a delight.
My wife and I recently got away for a few days to experience Sauble Beach and the Bruce Peninsula and stayed again in our most favouite hotel in Owen Sound. The beach is only 20 minutes away. We stayed in Room 265, a corner suite overlooking the harbour. The room was spacious and designed for only 2 people from the 2 person air tub, fireplace, 2 leather chairs, king bed and large shower. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We were fortunate to have excellent weather so we were able to have all our meals on the outdoor patio. The staff very friendly and obliging. Very clean. The ONLY complaint I would (have and it is minor) is please put a pad on the ironing board. It had a cover but no pad so hard to iron on the metal.
The place was what you expect from a best western. Clean rooms, good beds, nice staff. I used my cellphone to show a picture of my ID to get a new room key and then did not leave the hotel grounds again after that. In the morning the cellphone was no where to be found and the staff never found it. I called a couple times and they tried to find it, but I never got a follow up call about it. That would have been nice, even if they didnt find it. Its just unfortunate because I'm not holding the best western responsible of course, but it means that someone in or on the property found the phone and took it. Not sure if this is a recurring theme in Owen sound, but the hotel was not as secure and safe as I originally thought. Anyways place is good, just treat it as if you were in Toronto, small town does not neccissarily mean safe.
Room was great, drinks were great, food amazing, great service! We love the breakfast and the supper. didn't have lunch, but wil next time. Love the beds esp. Always a good nights sleep, great staff, alsways willing to help.
If you are staying in the Owen Sound area for pleasure or business, the Best Western is about the best the area has to offer without heading to a resort. The staff are great, the rooms inviting, and the restaurant offers a good breakfast.
Room in tower section had view of the lake, and the staff were great. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and the lakefront setting was lovely. I think it's one of only two lakeside dining options in town, and the food was good, particularly the included breakfast. Walking path along the lakeside was really nice to use after dinner. Plenty of green space for kids to play within easy view while we enjoyed our meals. Had to rely on GPS to find it since it is out-of-the-way, and the signage is so subtle we thought we'd arrived at the back door. A well-kept secret, but they seem to fill up, thanks to good reputation. They were thoughtful to find and hold my lost jacket for me. Every place we've stayed in Canada has scalding hot water, so watch out for your kiddos and hands.
Beautiful rooms, nice restaurant, great service! We stay here once every summer, it's a nice drive from Hamilton. We like the bigger rooms at the end of the hotel as these have a nice view of the bay. I believe half of the rooms have a view of the bay actually, if you look at the layout. Restaurant food is excellent with nice patio and bay view. Service is excellent.
We had a room on the 4th floor with a spectacular view of the Sound facing towards Georgian Bay.The restaurant dinner servings exceeded our expectations at a reasonable cost and there was a doe grazing on the lawn when we went to breakfast in the morning. It was a great base for visiting Wiarton and Sauble Beach.
Excellent and caring staff at an excellent and clean hotel. Andy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He gave us suggestions on where to go, sights to see and chatted with my husband like they were old friends. Andrea at the bar was a great bartender and made sure we got our drinks and apps quickly. Would definitely return here.
stayed in the oversized king Jr. suite Rm 201 that has 2 large windows with an excellent view of the bay. There are only 4 such rooms in this 100 room hotel & the Sr. rate booked directly thru the hotel is $20 less than any booking site's rates. Also had an very good breakfast at the hotel--$10 for eggs, bacon, homefries, toast & coffee--also with a view of the bay. Hotel is very clean, comfy bed etc. Nice walkway along the bay beside the hotel & the bay breezes & wave sounds are nice overnight.
This was one of the more expensive hotels in the area, but it was definitely worth it. I was comfortable with the hotel's area, staff, and cleanliness. There was a small beach right next to the hotel with a small walking trail, which was a really nice way to wind down at the end of each night. I would definitely stay here again.
The General Manager lacks in customer service skills. The room was not cleaned. The air conditioning was temperamental. Big prices for mediocre experience. Location by the water is fantastic. Newly renovated.
The personable gentlemen at the front desk were delightful!! This is Canadian hospitality at its best. The hotel and grounds are beautiful with the bay as the back drop, a walking trail along it, and fireplace in the lobby and the rooms. Very clean, great breakfast and dinners with pleasant service. They accommodated a wedding very well and free parking was sufficient. Be aware that there is an extended walk inside the hotel to access the elevator to the rooms. Comfy beds and ability to charge multiple devices conveniently in the room. Purchase Canadian dollars for good exchange rate. We had a wonderful stay, this is our hotel of choice in Owen Sound!!!
What a great experience dealing with Ken. We phoned a few days before the long weekend really hoping to get a room for the weekend. Ken was exceptionally helpful and was able to get us a room at the last minute.
I stay here monthly and have never had a bad experience. All of the staff I have met are top notch and the quality of the hotel is superior. The rooms offer nice views and part views of the water. There is a lovely waterfront path for walking - especially after long hours in the car. The restaurant is excellent - I have tried both breakfast and dinner and was very happy with both.
We were guests at a wedding on July 21, so we stayed at this hotel from July 20 to 22. The entire property was incredible. I love it when people pay attention to details. The room (4th floor) was spacious, quiet and the bed was among the most comfortable that we've slept in away from home. It is clear that the hotel spends a considerable amount of time selecting and training staff who are service-focused, and truly care. Most notably, our breakfast on Saturday morning was a delight. Andrea (the restaurant Manager) and her staff were at the top of their game. They could sense when we needed a refill on our coffee or orange juice. There was nothing about this weekend stay that I would call out as an area for improvement (which on reflection is rather astounding). Well done everyone!
This is one of the best places to stay in Owen Sound. Service is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are modern and a good size for 2-4 people Best of all it is clean, classy, and a beautiful location! I will definitely stay here again.
We have always stayed at the Inn On The Bay because it's right on the water. Check in was fast and friendly. Stayed in the tower 2 room suite. No complaints. Breakfast was from a menu. The eggs were cooked perfect. Did find the drinks in the lounge to expensive. Loved the walk each night along the bay. Would highly recommend the Inn on the Bay.
When people are excellent at their job, go beyond the call of duty and stand out above the crowd, I truly believe they deserve to be recognized. Ken from your front desk at the Best Western Inn on the Bay is one of those people. I am a real estate broker and real estate Instructor from Toronto. I teach real estate licencing courses throughout Ontario. I was given course assignment in Owen Sound to be facilitated at a local hotel running for a week in early May 2018.. Not being familiar with the area, It was recommended tor me to stay at the this hotel, which had a reduced rate for the instructors. Funny enough, I also looked at the Best Western Inn on the Bay but the rates didn't fit in within the budget guidelines for accommodations set by the real estate association. To make a long story short, I arrived to the local hotel to check in Sunday night. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was not up to my standards. I even checked out one of theirs rooms and became even more anxious thinking I will be spending a week at place I wasn't going to be happy with. This was not what I was accustomed to in any way shape or form! I got into my car and drove to the Best Western. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile from Ken at the Front Desk. I explained to him my predicament and how discouraged I was and he immediately went to work to solve my problem. Not only did he work within my budget, but he gave me a 2 room suite on the fourth floor with a stunning view of the Bay including breakfast! What a pleasure it was dealing with Ken and I really had a fantastic time at your hotel and in Owen Sound! If it wasn't for Ken, it would of been a whole other experience for me. Your hotel is outstanding. Your Staff is outstanding. Keep up the good work in being the Premier Hotel in Owen Sound!
Stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago. Beautiful view of the bay. Room was very well appointed. The young man at the front desk (I think his name w as Kent) went out of his way to answer all our questions regarding the restaurant and places in the area worth seeing. Enjoyed Bishops Landing. Very much would definitely suggest staying there if in the area.
I really appreciate a hotel that goes out of its way to make you feel welcome, the rooms are bright with lots of natural light and a great workspace. Always treat yourself to their excellent restaurant with a chef who comes up with amazing daily specials that are filled with goodness. All staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated
Was here for 2 days business and was really surprised on the amazing location of this hotel. Right on the waterfront with access to walking and bike path and very close to the downtown core. Very welcoming and enjoyable staff. Restaurant food was very good. I will return back on business stays and will definately book a relaxing pleasure stay.
super clean, well-kept, pleasant helpful staff, and unusual for a hotel, an excellent restaurant! lots of handicapped parking, lot is well-maintained. Only thing missing is a pool. Keep up the good work.
Right on Georgian Bay, there is a great view from the restaurant and patio. Walking trails adjacent to the hotel along the bay. Walking distance to town. Great restaurant and rooms. Small fitness centre with hot tub and some equipment.
Just an overnight and glad to see that they still are the best around!! The service at the front desk both checking out and in was delightful and the restaurant is a hidden gem in Owen Sound!! Service by Jess was great and the food again outstanding!! THE best Onion soup in the world and burger to die for!! Found the internet very fast for a hotel making up and downloading quick and simple!! Can't wait for our annual fishing trip this year! Great job guys and gals!!
nice place... clean, good location and good customer service. if there was a free breakfast as advertised they need to do more to promote it. no mention in lobby and the hotel book in room only said breakfast was available for purchase? mixed messages and hopefully not false advertising.. only complaint was careless mixup at checkin... gave me wrong room number and key so when i went to room it was already occupied.. thank goodness the person inside was blowing their hair dry or else it would have bern awkward and embarrassing. desk clerk didnt understand what was wrong and was going to call room until i pointed out on my registration paper he gave me a different room number. need to be more attentive and careful.
We did not stay in the hotel. We had a meal from the Savour Owen Sound menu and all four of us thought the meal and presentation was excellent. We've made plans to go back on a Friday to check out their Friday night specials!
Stayed here for a hockey tournament and found the hotel was very clean and well maintained. Upgraded to a king suite and found it had lots of room to spread out (fireplace was nice touch). Rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. Restaurant in the hotel is ok but very pricy for burgers and stuff.
Planned a trip into Ontario with the wife. Spent 2 nights here. Very nice stay. Had the large suite with a view of the river and sound. Everything was comfortable. This hotel is close to downtown and close to all the waterfalls in and around town. The is a lot to do in Owen Sound, and The Best Western added to our experience. Check it out.
I spent 5 nights here while in OS for work. The room was clean and a good size. The bathroom was also clean and maintained. The bed was a little hard for my liking but you can sleep in it. I tried the hot tub out 1 night and it was just a warm tub. Not hot at all. The hotel would be a nice place to stay in the summer being right on the lake but it is in an industrial area so not much to do around it. Tried the in hotel restaurant and the service was good but, like the warm tub, none of the food was hot. The staff were friendly and professional. It was a place to stay but a little pricey for what I have gotten elsewhere.
Good food, great DJ , one person in our group had to send her beef dinner back twice. Other than that it was a great party. We would come back to this location next New Years Eve..All of the staff were friendly and helpful!
We have never been to Owen sound before but wanted to snowmobile in this area. I called to inquire about snowmobiling amenities in the area and Ken was extremely helpful. The hotel was nice and clean. beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly. I recommend this hotel and will be staying there again.
Booked into this hotel for 2 nights. Went to the on-site restaurant for supper last night. The food and service was great. Tonight go down to have dinner and find out that because of the hockey game next door reservations have taken up all the tables. Expressed our displeasure with the restaurant and front desk about not being advised that we needed reservations and neither the restaurant nor front desk was helpful at all. Perhaps in the future the front desk should let their out of town guests know in advance that reservations are needed when the hockey game is on.
As a Best Western member we took advantage of a promotion that allowed us to upgrade to a quality room with a "view" (hotel located on and overlooking a large bay on Georgian Bay). It was a lovely escape from our heavy snow and much colder December than usual. Staff are excellent. Food was very tasty in on-site restaurant. An enjoyable stay and respite between Christmas and the New Year.
I have used the Best Western in Owen Sound many times, including for a long term stay for work several years ago. This winter the family used it, 6 rooms in all, over Christmas while we visited elderly parents. Great staff, even eggs benedict for Christmas morning! The staff was busy but quick and polite. We came back for the Christmas buffet and it was excellent. They also took very special care of our elderly guest in a wheel chair. Very helpful and very accommodating to a table change to make life easier for her. Thank you. We also had our dog with us, the dog friendly rooms are on the ground floor with great access to let them out. We also used this hotel for our first night after getting married in Owen Sound and for the morning breakfast. That was also great service.
Friendly reservation process with helpful staff. Easy and quick check-in despite being busy. Excellent room with large window with view and very clean. Quality bed, quiet, great sleep. Internet issue was quickly resolved. Again, friendly, quick and trouble free check-out. Hope to stay again when in the area. Highly recommendable.
Very pleasant staff and comfortable amenities overall. Room was a little dated but very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel is located next to the bay and is close to downtown. Arrived during snow storm conditions. Parking lot was plowed and salted by the next morning.
Wonderful staff very friendly and helpful, the rooms are very clean and the set up in the room was very comfortable. Great location to the arena which was the purpose of our stay. And the dinner was fantastic.
Great place to stay to enjoy the Festival of Lights or an Attack game (which you can walk to). Great view of the Bay if you are out for a stroll. Rooms are big and comfortable. Clean, quiet location. Price might be a little high for some, but it is the best digs in town.
Stayed at the B/W Inn on the Bay and took in the Festival of Lights during our stay on December 2-3, 2017. Very clean hotel with pleasant and thoughtful staff. Also took breakfast on Sunday morning and all eight of us enjoyed it. Each one in our party ordered something different. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel, which is a bit tired is way over - priced for what you get, especially at this time of year. The sliver of a view you get from many of the rooms just doesn't cut it. The room is an average room with sheets that are not fresh and crisp feeling, no in room safe that I could see, the bare necessities for amenities in the bathroom, and some rust looking spots on the ceiling. Not sure where the rate for $139 comes from but my room with tax ended up at$183. There is no real pool, plenty of parking which might be the real feature of the hotel. I didn't eat there because I felt the prices for the food were a touch on the high side. I think they have to lower their prices or significantly enhance the rooms before I would stay there again. Location, location, location is what it's all about but it has to be at a reasonable price which this was not. O
Enjoyed staying at Best Western in Owen Sound. I imagine it is lovely in the summer with the view of the bay. Comfortable room, great customer service, nice restaurant. Stayed overnight for a business trip and visited Harrison Park Festival of Lights. The town is decorated beautifully for Christmas.
Great price for the size of the room with a full breakfast included. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming also. A little away from downtown but on the water which was nice. I would recommend this hotel.
The Best Western in Owen Sound was the most comfortable stay, the food was wonderful in the restaurant (I highly recommend the French Onion Soup) and very helpful staff. Would recommend for business or leisure trips.
I was there for a Forum and the meals were provided and these meals were excellent! The room was spacious and the bed was very very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this Best Western to every one!!!
The staff did a wonderful job for this event . The service was great the food was excellent, they did a good job providing food for people with dietary restrictions. The rooms were clean and accomodations were adequate and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you.
Rooms are Okay, nothing special considering the price but I guess you are paying for being along the water. Stayed there as it's close to the office and staff is friendly. Restaurant has great supper and breakfast meals haven't had a chance to have their lunch so unable to comment on that.
Beautiful view of Owen Sound Bay, Centrally located beside the Bay shore Community Centre & Arena, home of the Owen Sound Attack . A great place to stay, Rooms are clean, Food in the restaurant is tasty and reasonably priced, coffee is hot and plentiful and the beer cold.
We spent 2 nights here on our Bruce Peninsula Tour with our dog. We know that Best Western are pet friendly and we were not disappointed. The room was typical BW, clean, spacious, clean and big bathroom. Because we had a pet, it was on the ground floor and close to an exit. Perfect. We dined twice at the lounge and were impressed with the menu they offer!! Very friendly staff throughout. The hotel sits right on the bay and on a very nice trail along the shore. Plenty of parking spaces, close to all major amenities.
I travel to Owen Sound once a month minimum and I always book at this Best Western. The hotel is great and the staff always friendly. The amenities are great and whenever anything “extra” is needs staff has always been willing to point me in the right direction. Much appreciated
This is an excellent hotel, but breakfast was a disappointment.Would be wiser to have it elsewhere - there are lots of good breakfast spots.Having just returned from a holiday in Virginia,we found the contrast marked.
We stopped here on a whim. What a great call! A very inviting, full amenity hotel. We had supper in the lounge & breakfast in the restaurant & both were outstanding. The views of the area are awesome. The staff was quick to give us the information about the area sites & activities. We will be back.
stayed here on a bus trip with Cardinal tours the room was big the beds were very cosy and there was four fluffy pillows we had a buffet breakfast with great coffee that was served with a smile and top ups the front staff was also good
As a regular traveller this is by far my favourite hotel in Owen Sound, the rooms are spotless and the staff is terrific, constantly kept up to date, a fantastic place for business travellers and also for families. It also has a terrific restaurant on the premises that serves excellent food
After a long day on the road, including a 2 hour trip on the ferry, we were ready to put our feet up for a rest. The gentleman who checked us in was quick, efficient and made us feel at home. Beds were comfy for a quick refresher nap as well as for an 8 hour sleep. Bathroom was clean, lots of water pressure for my wife's long hair in the shower, and had a nice heat lamp. Nice upscale restaurant but casual restaurant on premises where the level of service made us feel like special guests. Thanks Best Western !
I had the pleasure to stay at this hotel during my visit to Bruce Peninsula. I was so surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. It is in a great location. I think that all rooms come with a fridge, but only some rooms have microwaves. Check for online description of each room. As a guest, one can take leisurely strolls along the water by the hotel. The staff is very friendly. When I return to this area, this will be my hotel of choice.
Had a awesome wedding at this location in 2015 in October and we were treated like royalty. We plan to celebrate many anniversaries in the years to come because food, atmosphere and service are amazing.
Never a worry when staying at this location. Perfect accommodations. Perfect staff. Perfect experience. This is the only location i would chose if staying anywhere in the area. Easily found and access to all amenities in the area is a breeze. Thank You once again for a perfect night!
Probably the best hotel in Owen Sound, Ontario. Excellent dining room. Good food and excellent service. Very nice room accommodation. A long walk to the elevator for (slightly and) disabled. Located on park next to Georgian Bay. Nice views.,I would recommend this hotel.
Original destination had a 12 to 18 hour power outage. This was an excellent substitution that we found through a travel brochure for Grey-Bruce. Staff were very helpful. Room was excellent. Services were fine.
Always a great stay, good staff, great view. Restaurant is good value for your dollars. The water front view is fantastic and the front desk greetings are one of the best I have seen in my travels. Always clean.
Excellent staff, easy check in and an immaculate and spacious room with a great view. Nice quiet location off the beaten path. Restaurant on site had great food and service. Also a grocery store just down the street for snacks.
The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. The property was very nice, and well maintained. Would highly recommend this. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, the grounds were well maintained. Would definitely return!
I have just stayed at the Best Western on the Bay for 3 nights. The customer service is exceptional- always go out of their way to meet your needs.I stayed in a suite which met my work needs and had a great view. The rooms are updated and large in size. The on site restaurant had a wide selection and the food quality is good. Th location of this property is exceptional as it is on the bay leading to Lake Huron. It is also a short walk to downtown and right beside the Bayshore where the Owen Sound Attack play.
Very beautiful hotel and well maintained hotel in a scenic part of Owen Sound. All amenities are very good. Staff was excellent. Only issue I has was for the cost of the room breakfast should have been included as does most other B/W and other hotel chains. This hotel was located on one of the bays on Lake Huron. Lovely walking path just outside the hotel. Hotel is not walking distance to other restaurants although the hotel dining area is well appointed with good food.
I chose this hotel from reviews and was not disappointed. I made reservations for one night but we arrived a day early and they allowed me to pay for only room they had Executive suite and complimentary upgrade for the second night so I didn't have to move. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. This location is great with the lake behind it. You can go walking around the lake or just sit on the benches and take in the sunset. The rooms were extremely clean and smelled great. I have to also comment on how comfy the beds and sheets were as I am a sheet snob and it met my approval. I also love that it had the Bishops restaurant inside the hotel when you don't feel like going out.
Nice hotel in Owen Sound. Great location next to the water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food and service was very good. I'd recommend using the hotel restaurant vs going out. We would definitely go back.
Lake view room with fireplace was lovely and everything else was perfect too. The staff are all caring , extremely efficient and helpful. It is very very clean here and definitely a place to sprawl out and feel like home. Thank you
Excellent Hotel, could use a better breakfast. Very helpful staff asdfghjkl;dtfyguhijokgxrdctvgyunhjidxrcvgyubhnjimdxcfvgyubhnjdcfvgbhndxcfv jnrd3vgynjrdxcvgbhnjrdcfvgybhnjdcfvgbhnj There we go 200 caracters
Initially called at 3:00pm and asked if there was a ground floor room available. Arrived an hour later to an extremely helpful check-in clerk (Ken). Presented my Harley Davidson "Biker Rewards" card, and was immediately upgraded to a suite and was given a gift bag. Awesome room with a spectacular view on the ground floor. They also allowed us to park our motorcycles under their canopy for the night. A+A+A+
We spent a few days in the north country &was exceptionally pleased by our stay in this Best Western. The view from our room was to die for, beds & sofa- excellent. Had a very relaxing experience. Our stroll around the bay & through the gardens was something we will remember always..Thank-you
This hotel has everything including a great view and fantastic, full-service restaurant! (Room service is also available). The room itself was spacious and well-equipped.WiFi was better than many other hotels. I would definitely stay here again. My only (very minor) quibble was the lack of variety with the breakfast menu, but all food was delicious. Love the location, right on Georgian Bay.
Large clean rooms. Great beds and if you ask, and pay, for a water view it is excellent. The staff was outstanding! Ken at checkin upgraded us.....very kind of him. The restaurant in the hotel was expensive, but very good. Would definitely return.
Nice hotel, would return! The room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great right on the water. Attended a wedding and the venue was perfect for our size. I had a great stay
I have been going to this best western for over 6 years. I think I have well over 100 nights stay there. They have been consistent in quality, care and customer satisfaction. They not only listened when I had a problem but even asked if there was any way they could make things better. But most importantly they did. The desk staff are good friends to talk with. They are quick and accurate in check in and check out. They treat you like family. The rooms are always perfectly cleaned. This review comes from over one hundred nights with not one bad experience. I'm a business customer and I stay in many hotels. The one is special. It is top notch. No it's not 5 star but it is the best in class. Also the location is stellar. Right on the water. You just feel the stress melting just listening to the waves.
beautiful view and room is clean and staffs are friendly. told no swimming pool by stuff when asked, but older kids noticed it is in basement and used it, not sure why. price is a little high for 2.5 star(I believe) besides these, room is clean, restaurant on site, convenient shopping, touring, staffs welcomed us and introduced the sightseeing places when asked. Gym is kind of small and smells. overall experience is very good. beautiful view of the Bay, and community center with area besides the parking lot.
We have stayed at the Inn on the Bay for 5 years in a row now; however, we won't be going back for a couple of reasons. The staff at the front desk are nice but not overly friendly. The prices of the rooms have gone up, which is fine, but amenities have gone down. When we checked in, we sat for 30 minutes waiting on a trolley to take our luggage to our room and one was not available so we carried our luggage/bags to the second floor. We were informed that the room we booked no longer includes a continental breakfast (which it did when we booked in Feb 17). The food we purchased was mid range in price. You get a decent portion and coffee/tea was included with the meal. There was complimentary coffee/tea at the restaurant entrance over breakfast hour, which is nice, but the tea water was only warm and the coffee was empty on two occasions. Staff was very kind to refill it when asked, but once again brought out warm water for the tea. Service at the restaurant was excellent and attentive. Our room appeared quite clean and stocked when we arrived. We did find the one comforter had some sort of stain on it that appeared to be washed out blood? The pillows have always lacked in comfort. The sofa (sofa bed) was very mushy when we sat on it. The springs in it were not supportive and we are not big people. The hot tub had too much chemicals in and stung our eyes. Overall, we must say the Inn on the Bay is lovely as far as location and cleanliness. The Manager is amazing and helps out staff wherever and whenever he can. Kudos to the Manager. The jury is out as to whether we would return given higher prices and less amenities.
We stayed for the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular. Hotel is located right on the Bay. We were able to walk along the water front. I brought my two small dogs and we had a very positive experience as we have never stayed in a hotel that accepted pets. The Restaurant was excellent. I would go there to eat even if I was not staying in the hotel it was that good.
somewhat expensive for what it is clean, basic hotel, decor could use updating internet ok staff friendly, hospitable and helpful, efficient good location, easy drive to downtown area food fair not likely to return to this hotel, mostly because found it expensive for this class of hotel
Comfortable room with lots of space and a nice view. Great path to walk on right next to the hotel. Close to all of the main strip of Owen Sound. The food in the restaurant was very tasty! I'll definitely stay here again.
Being away from home is never ideal but they make it a great stay here. Clean rooms and vert friendly service. The front desk staff gave great recommendations for dinner and were spot on. Every single employee I met spoke and smiled. First class service for sure.
My husband and I stayed at the BW earlier this week and from the time we arrived until the time we left I felt nothing but welcome. The hotel is well kept, the Bay View rooms are beautiful and the surrounding area is fantastic. The WiFi in the rooms is great! Oh and the sunset while enjoying a soak in the hot tub was a great way to end the day. Thank you BW for a great stay!
We really enjoyed the hôtel site, water view from the restaurant terrasse, from the inside whirpool & the path with garden to walk around. Staff very nice! Very clean! The only bad thing was the cuisine, I was served an undercook burger, the waitress handellled it very professionaly but the fact remain that it was dangerous for my health. My family where served other plates that where very good. But I did not go back there to eat.
I can honestly say I have never had a negative experience at the hotel. We stay here a few times a year and each time is great. From the front desk to the staff in the dining room, the customer service is professional, yet relaxed. Always a smile and a moment to make the guests feel welcome.
Wish that our rooms were placed near each other. Also, a complimentary breakfast would have been perfect. Bathrooms have been updated and clean. Hotel is near the water. No swimming pool. Also, hotel is near Metro grocery and Shoppers Drug Mart
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The best part of the hotel is definitely the view of the bay. Otherwise, the neighbourhood is nothing to seek out. A suite includes a fridge, small kitchen sink, counter, cupboards, dishes for 4 and a microwave. While we ate most meals out it was great to drink early morning coffee and/or eat snacks in the facility without having to go out. We would definitely return.
Excellent hotel. Front staff helped us find the falls and Tim Hortons.. Lovely room. Would stay here if back in town. Easy to find. Had a view of the water from our room. Check out was easy. The restaurant was very good. The restaurant staff made sure we had every thing that we needed.
Okay, lets start with the picky negatives. I personally found it to be overpriced for what you get but in tourist country you get charged for the location first and the hotel second. I also don't like the concept of temporarily adding a hundred dollars to your card "just in case you buy something from room service". That having been said, the hotel is in a lovely setting and is well maintained with more than adequate parking. The grounds are well kept, the staff professional and the hotel clean and in excellent repair. The restaurant has an outdoor patio that overlooks Colpoys bay and the sunset and is adjacent to municipal paved walking paths as well as a multi boat launch ramp. Room amenities vary by price with a broad range of choices. We had a standard double and it was well appointed with a remarkably deep bath tub. It was immaculately clean and the beds offered the two firmness choices that seem to have taken over the hotel industry. Over all, it was a good stay in a comfortable and scenic location and if you don't worry about economics it is a recommended stay. I would use it again without hesitation if I were ever in Owen sound.
I would assume that they're always fully booked on the weekend because they have this strange policy that you have to book for two nights to get a room. They let you bring your pet Into the hotel. I hope that they have pet free rooms. You probably should ask for a pet free room. We saw a dog pee in the front lobby. Disgusting. The hot tub is nice. But the "pool" is just a very large hot tub with a nice warm temperature. We had special requests for the Eggs Benedict – make sure the egg white is cooked or make sure the English muffins toasted – these requests were ignored. Otherwise the Eggs Benedict was good. I asked that they remove my credit card from their files and they refused saying that it was policy. I will be following up on this.
The pool is not a pool, it is a glorified indoor hot tub. Breakfast is not included in price. Paid $215. for king bed suite, Marriott in Kincardine is $165. for king bed suite, indoor pool and includes breakfast and it is brand new. BW in Owen Sound needs to be updated and needs to have a price reality check
I stayed at this Owen Sound Best Western for a funeral. My stay was very comfortable & made quite pleasant by the excellent staff. They were consistently helpful & friendly though it was a busy time & fully booked.
We stopped here before taking the ferry to Manitoulin Island and enjoyed the hotel, and the environs. Our room was clean and large, the bed was comfortable and the included breakfast hit the spot. We really enjoyed our stay in Owen Sound at this hotel.
Stayed here a night and the room was clean and spacious enough for our needs. The breakfast was ok, what you would expect from a chain hotel. The biggest complaint would be the noisy AC unit, the hall noise and the garbage collection early on the morning which was really noisy. So, not the best sleep.
Clean spacious room, can walk into town along the bay but it's a good 20 minute walk. We stayed here as a base for a day trip to Bruce Peninsula National Park and Tobermory. If you enjoy art there is a nice Tom Thompson art gallery in Own Sound. Excellent restaurant nearby...Kettles! Great home style cooking at a very reasonable price, we ate there twice.
This hotel is centrally located, very well maintained and it's just right by the lake. However, the breakfast should have been a buffet one instead of being served during the summer as there are lots of families with children. My grandson who was with me opted for Arby's instead of eating at the hotel. It was too formal for him as it was not fun sitting at a table and being served.
Everything about this hotel made our stay a pleasant one. From the friendly staff to the spacious rooms. If your looking for good service, a great meal, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, Bishops landing, a part of the hotel will meet all your taste buds. Don't leave the table before you've tried one of their delicious deserts. We know we'll be back!!
Terrific place, quality of room was high and the staff were quite friendly. Location is perfect being near the water. Food is always first rate and everything works. We are repeat customers so I guess we continue to be "convinced" but when looking for someplace to stay in Owen Sound, it can't be beat. Close to downtown as well. Also, right in the heart of tourist country which is a major plus. And if one needs directions or further information the staff is always accommodating.
We booked this hotel at the last minute and were very happy with our choice. The hotel was clean and our view from the suite overlooked the water. We never ordered room service or ate at the restaurant, but the staff that we encountered were friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay! Would stay here again!
Paid way too much for our 1 night stay. Pool was disgusting with hair and dead bugs all o et the place! Mentioned it to staff and they didn't care. Had a horrible view. Definitely not worth $200/night!
Nice and clean, beautiful view of the bay. Unfortunately, did not have enough time to check out the walking paths, but they looked beautfiul. Would definitely stay here again. My room was in a very quiet hallway.
We always stay here when visiting family in Owen Sound, and it has always been wonderful. This stay was good, but not quite the high standard we've come to expect from them. Our room was okay, but we were obviously put in one of the standard ones, possibly because we arrived very late in the evening. No complimentary breakfast any more, and the menu options are limited, and obviously more expensive. The TV remote wasn't working properly, and the night manager forgot about us. I finally fixed the problem myself by using the buttons on the side of the tv. That was unusual for this hotel.
Very disappointed in Room 257, a king suite, situated in a wing of the hotel close to the heating and ventilating system on a nearby roof. Noise so loud we couldn't sleep and had to retreat to a sofa bed at the back of the suite. Not even earplugs helped in this poorly designed arrangement. Never again! Too bad because otherwise this is a nice hotel in a great location.
This hotel is very outdated. We have stayed twice over the last year, and will not be returning. There is a distinct odour throughout the hotel which is unpleasant. We had items from the previous guests left in the room which were missed by housekeeping. They advertise as being dog friendly, however they do not allow dogs on the patio of the restaurant. We were told the pool and hot tub were being shut down early due to safety concerns (even though we were sitting in the hot tub, they would not elaborate on the concerns). The beds are quite worn. We were forced into a 2 night minimum stay as they explained that is their policy. 4 star pricing, 1 star experience.
We loved this hotel. It was very well maintained, spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and very professional. The grounds were beautiful, hard to beat being right on the Bay with a wonderful walking trail right along the river. The restaurant was very comfortable and the food outstanding. We would love to go back there again.
We booked a room to stay when we came to a wedding at this venue. Check in was smooth, and no surprises when we showed up. We received a good deal on the room because we were there for a wedding. The suite was just as it was outlined, and the view of the bay was beautiful. The wedding went off without a hitch, the staff were well trained in their roles. The lady, who appeared to be in charge, was on top of things, she managed the staff respectfully, and got things done very efficiently. The food was very good, and people were moved through the buffet line very smoothly. They had a great bartender who was very personable and she was fast at drink preparations. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest that you stay here, great insulation between rooms, I heard nothing from our neighbours, and no hall noises. Also if you are planning a big party event, two thumbs up for their planning coordinator.
The staff were friendly, personable, very attentive.the room was clean and nice. Restaurant has great food, and a great patio looking onto the bay. Also a beautiful walk way around the bay, I would recommend this hotel
Staff was friendly! Location was very nice right on the water. Very nice hotel. Breakfast was good. I liked that my hotel room was on a private floor that needed a key to enter. Overall, very!!! good!
Stayed for 2 nights with the family. Room was clean and very comfortable beds. We enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant. Close to everything in Owen Sound. An outdoor/indoor pool would have made our stay more enjoyable.
A beautiful large suite with a fireplace ,, very comfortable and clean with a wonderful view of the bay. We enjoyed the surrounding areas along Georgian Bay .. A nice hotel to stay in if planning a road trip in the area.
I am the fan of this hotel, every time I visit this city, I always stay this hotel, good price, clean, comfortable bed, and friendly staff. And i also like the location, very convenient, Good for parking
The Hotel is beautiful, clean rooms, lots of smiles. The only problem I had was I asked my room keeper for some extra shampoo and she was drunk. I was appalled to see this as I had my children with me. I chose this hotel because I read a lot of reviews about how child friendly it was, but I was taken aback when she smelled of booze. I don't know if it was because it was on the 3rd floor and security entrance for a quiet zone meant no children normally. On July 1st weekend you would think that the hotel would make sure the staff were not still drunk in the work place. I will never stay here again because if they don't care who cleans our room how am I suppose to feel safe with the staff even if the reception is spectacular and accommodating.
Wow! What a great experience starting with reception! Made reservations as a couple (King bed and sofa pullout) and,at the last minute, added our adolescent grand daughter. On arrival, Ken looked at the situation and said " we can do better!" That's an understatement! AMAZING service!! No wonder they call themselves BEST Western. As a rewards member, we even got a gift bag with bottled water and a Skor bar. The room was on a "private" floor (entry by room key) overlooking the Bay, had 2 Kings, a gas fireplace (not used),3 comfortable arm chairs, very quiet AC with easy to use thermostat, a coffee maker, mini frig, microwave and free WiFi. I was absolutely delighted!! The hotel has lots of outdoor space. The restaurant has an outdoor patio. A path along the water leads to a lovely public garden and well equipped playground which is great for kids. The only things missing are a pool and the free breakfast you come to expect. There are packages which do include breakfast but you pay for it one way or another. In spite of this, I would return in a heart beat and hope that Ken was on duty!
We stayed only for one night for our honeymoon. We thought the grounds were just beautiful :) However we ordered the jacuzzi and fireplace room - and just for others know that the jacuzzi in our room was not a jacuzzi but in fact an Air Tub - which are two very different tubs (Air tubs just shoot air up and the water becomes quite cold quickly.. whereas Jacuzzi tubs use jets and power water through them to provide a massage). Also for the amount of money we paid for one night we thought that it would be a view of the Bay but instead we were looking at two picnic tables where I am assuming staff go to smoke. Everything else was nice. I would recommend going there - just a few pointers to ask for before you go :)
My husband and I wanted to stay in the Sauble Beach area for our 21st Anniversay. When this hotel popped up in my search I was quite impressed. From booking, to check in (we were 2 hours early!) during our stay and check out... everything was fantastic. I do recommend though if you want your room cleaned thoroughly during your stay to make sure you note that on the card, otherwise the hotel was amazing. Great view, great location, lots to do in the area. We even made it to Sauble Beach!
Even though this hotel is the best option to stay in Owen Sound some upgrades are required. The Window AC system is creating noise and smell and therefore has to be switched of during the night in order to sleep. the carpets are very used and dirty. However, the hotel and rooms are clean.
Back again for a fishing trip in Owen Sound. The hotel once again exceeded our expectations!! The restaurant food is exceptional and the staff go out of their way to help and make your stay a memorable one. This hotel is very quiet, clean and Modern. The sales team there were very helpful with information on boat launches and other fishing details. In fact this week we received more information about the fall Salmon Derby from the hotel and we are now all booking again for next month. We witnessed a beautiful wedding on July 1st at the hotel and overheard the raves from the attendees on the organization and service from the hotel for this event!! Looking forward to returning August 26th and staying again at our favorite hotel in Owen Sound!
Located in a scenic area - hotel staff were polite and helpful and the hotel itself was top notch in regards to the quality of the room and the general appearance of the hotel itself . Some beautiful walks along the bay to be had here in a park-like setting . Sunsets were gorgeous
This hotel is fine for staying for a night or two but seemed a bit pricey for what it is. There was a concert on the weekend we stayed so one wonders if $188 is the normal price. We checked out a little late and when I tried to wash my hands before leaving, there was no water whatsoever.
A wonderful bayview well with the visit. Only stayed one night but would've stayed longer if we could have. Great location and the staff is wonderful too. Hope to visit again for some leisure time by the bay.
It seems that this hotel has no rules for quiet hours, our room was first floor, a lot of noise near to the office and restaurant. When we tried to sleep the people in the next room arrived at 11 pm to drink and talk so loud. Finally about 1am we were in our pajamas asking front desk if they could be quiet and we could sleep. The next night there was a wedding party, this was close to our room. Two nights without sleep, what a nightmare we were very glad that we only booked for 2 days. We are fascinated to go to this city but next time we will look for another hotel.!!!
very nice place... be sure to make a reservation in the restaurant , you do not want to get caught on the patio if it starts to rain... o but they will bring you another umbrella seriously a great place other than that.
This is my go to place in Owen Sound, great facility with extra clean rooms, a fantastic restaurant on the premises and a staff that always goes out of its way to make you feel welcome. There is a terrific walking trail right by the hotel and depending on the room you get some fantastic views across the river
I have stayed at this location several times over the past few years, for business purposes, and have always had an excellent experience with the front desk staff, as well as the service and staff at the restaurant - Bishops Landing - They have several delicious Gluten Free items on the menu, and are clearly marked. The staff is very accommodating, and were able to alter a dish for my dietary restriction.
This hotel is the only one that I would stay at in owen Sound. the front desk stafff go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied and well taken care of. The patio is by far the best in town with a great view of the water. The restaurant and lounge staff go the extra step to cater to your needs. Excellent hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western in Owen Sound. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant is definitely recommended for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service at the restaurant is a bit slow but if you have to be somewhere at a certain time, they will definitely try to accommodate you. The only negative thing we would say about this hotel is their toilets are very powerful and tend to splash when flushed. As a result we had to buy some cleaning supplies and do some extra cleaning. Also just to make everyone aware, they have a large hot tub (feels like bath water) and a small hot tub (with hot water). It would have been nice if this hotel had a pool and hot tub rather then the 2 hot tubs. Overall we would recommend this hotel.
Great hotel location, layout. Staff were particularly friendly and helpful, all around. Nice view of water. We brought 2 small kids with us, and staff had room prepared with child-related amenities. They even lent us a high chair from the restaurant during a feeding emergency - thank you!! Clean, tidy rooms. Bed and pillows comfortable. Bathroom design is modern and everything works as it should.
Not a bad Hotel but a little expensive compared to others in OS, only BW I have stayed at where Breakfast is not included,,, no restaurants within walking distance other than the one in the Hotel.Located on the water which is nice.
Very Comfortable, accommodating staff, overall a very good value. Needed late check-out. Although hotel was going to be booked solid the day of our check-out, they still accommodated us with at least an extra hour to check-out.
Attended this hotel for a wedding this past weekend. It's a standard best western, large, clean rooms. The lobby decor is a little outdated, but very tidy, and the staff were professional. Obviously the best thing is the gorgeous view of the bay, there's a nice stretch a green grass with some beautiful walking paths behind the hotel. I would say that if there's an event going on you should try to be on a higher floor, the music at the wedding could be heard pretty clearly up on the second floor.
The first room I checked into had a bad odour and the fridge was so loud. It would have kept me up all night. Thank goodness I could change rooms. The fellow who helped me change rooms was nice. However, the other issue was when I called down to ask to inquire about the breakfast menu for in-room breakfast in the morning she told me I had to go down to the restaurant to see the menu in the morning. Well, that defeated the purpose of me having to be on conference calls in the room in the morning and I didn't have time to go down to the restaurant - The whole point of in-room breakfast. This hotel doesn't have a breakfast menu in the room guest book or a door hanger for breakfast.
I've stayed here for several business trips and believe this to be one of the best hotels in the area. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and the staff are accomodating and pleasant. A couple downfalls were in the amenities. The cable is choppy, the restaurant is very overpriced, the included breakfast is extremely limited (and will inevitably result in paying $5-$10 extra for a decent breakfast), and the fitness center is very small (only 4 machine and only 2 were in working condition during my last stay). If they could improve in a couple of these areas, I'd give the hotel 5 stars.
We stayed at the hotel for a family wedding. It was a beautiful setting & the food at the reception & the breakfast the next morning were delicious. The room was great & I loved soaking in the jacuzzi tub.
The overall service was normal nothing to outstanding. A clean decent place to stay. Close to a few local place to eat which are a better alternative to the restaurant in the hotel. Better then most options in Owen Sound.
All staff were very pleasant, helpful and always ready to assist. Would highly recommen this hotel to anyone! My family thoroughly enjoyed their time, lots to see and do in the area and the waterfront was a pleasant way to spend time.
I travel a great deal for my job. I stay at Best Western on the Bay at least 10 times a year. They are focused on meeting the customers needs and are always friendly and courteous. I have has one recent complex service request that they addressed with professionalism. The rooms are nicely appointed and quiet. The location on the Bay is amazing. You have a view of the bay which is stunning. It is close to downtown of the Bayshore.
Excellent place to stay while hiking on the Bruce Trail in this area. Staff very friendly. Accommodation comfortable. Room equipped with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. A walk to a variety of restaurant options in town.
I mentioned this before they used to have complementary breakfast and they stripped it off. At the time also it was not the greatest BF but was something. The hilton homewood suites and some of the other in the hilton chain offers a great hot BF. The price is also lower
Hotel is wonderful, the restaurant is not capable of handling a large group. If booking a large group meal, look outside the hotel. We had 16 families and some of the children waited 2.5 hours for chicken fingers and fries. Pool is small but the kids still had a wonderful time. Beautiful location overlooking the water.
Always happy to stay at the Inn on the Bay. The staff are the best of any hotel I have encountered, and the consistency of this level of service makes it clear that it is part of the culture of the establishment. The rooms are well maintained and always cleaned top to bottom. The beds are just the best. Food is excellent as well. I love looking over the water.
Whilst in the UK this hotel kept popping up on my Trip adviser, so we thought we would visit whilst on our trip. There is no question this is a very nice hotel, clean, quiet but very busy and with a monopoly as there is nothing around it! Great parking and great location and is obviously well used...but as a tourist there is nothing in the hotel about the area, which tells you it is here for a specific reason i.e. sports. The price is high for a hotel which is not in a busy town or tourist resort. All that said we were well looked after and our room was lovely with a view of the Lake after we requested to be moved from the first room offered. Flat screen TV, wifi and a lovely shower. Just the oddest location!
We enjoyed another stay here It's right on Owen Sound & we like to walk into town along the water Food is good & staff are friendly Tower rooms are quiet Walking trail is being extended we also used the indoor walkway at the arena next door
Staff here are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. Dining room /lounge is always a good bet for a great meal. The view from the dining room is awesome , patio is a great place to spend a summer evening.
Great staff, close to the stadium and great beds. Restaurant is good for continental. We did not have dinner it was too busy. Close to the waterfalls which I highly recommend visiting. Free parking. The sofa sleeper is the new type which we found to be excellent.
Great hotel - wonderful restaurant. The beds are always comfortable and I like the fact that you have to use your room key to access the floor. A little more pricey than most Best Westerns but worth it. The staff were very welcoming even though we were cheering for the visiting team! We had a great time and would come back again. There were two parties going on in the hotel and we never heard a thing!
The hotel is very clean with high class appointed decor. Very friendly and accommodating staff, Although it is away from the business section of the city, the view of the bay is very nice. It is relatively close to other scenic sites as well!
Rooms clean & fresh. Fabulous service. Lots of towels, extra blanket if you need it. The restaurant has great food. Wedding well organized, reception dinner perfect. Best Eggs Benedict ever. Thanks Best Western
Due to a miscommunication there was only 1 room booked when there was supposed to be 2. Ken at the front desk took care of everything. The rooms were spacious, clean and updated. Some renovations were going on outside but the noise stopped quite early so it was not that disruptive. The beds and pillows were super comfy. The breakfast had a free continental but you could also order off the menu and pay the difference. The location is right across from the arena.
My husband and I spent this past Thanksgiving weekend at Best Western Inn on the Bay. We checked in on Saturday the 8th and found our room quite clean and comfortable. We have stayed here before and had no complaints. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant, Bishop's Landing is comfortable with a great view of the bay. I have celiac disease and have found the serving staff along with the kitchen staff very knowledgable about my need to be gluten free. Our server Melissa was friendly and provided great service. The continental breakfast is included in the price of the room and is great for everyone. I bring my own gluten free bread with me when I travel but I found fruit, eggs and yogurt available for me. My husband on the other hand, loves making the homemade waffles. I was calling him the "Waffle Whisperer" by the time we had to check out on the 11th. Our last dinner on Sunday, Monday, the 10th was served by Andrea who was very helpful when I asked about the gluten free seafood thermidor. My pasta was delicious and my husband's steak was cooked to perfection. With this past weekend being Thanksgiving, the restaurant was extra busy and the staff were always courteous and helpful even though they were running off their feet! Thank you to Megan who changed reservation times for us and kept our coffee mugs full on Tuesday morning before we had to pack up and leave. The hotel is in a great location with a lovely path along the waterfront. The fall colours in the Owen Sound area are spectacular. We can't wait to go back again!
We had a fantastic reunion at Inn On The Bay thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff. The environment was comfortable and clean and the suite allowed our group to be together and share memories and good times. The menu Shannon provided allowed all to dine without issue and with respect for the dietary limitations many had. Although the Inn was very busy that week end there was no issue with noise and all enjoyed a sound sleep. I would highly recommend calling Kara if as a group you want a wonderful week end together or just a lovely quiet night away. We hope to be back as a group in five years. Thank you for a wonderful week end. 10/10
An amazing hotel right on the water close to downtown and all amenities , excellent service great restaurant on site, was on a private floor which always feels special .All in all a great place to stay.
Great stay! First time staying there and it will be the only hotel we stay at when we visit Owen Sound. Lots of parking, clean rooms, friendly staff, working wifi, yummy breakfast, beautiful view of the bay...Perfect! This hotel has the whole package!
When booking this hotel, we thought it was a bit pricey. However it was definitely worth the few extra dollars. I note one reader found the rooms dated. I was informed that all rooms have been updated. We were located in the tower which I understand is a new addition. Our room 365 had two king size beds and a fireplace. The room was large, well appointed with a comfortable bed, quality sheets and towels. Rooms 365 and 465 have the best view of the harbour since they have windows on two walls. We had keyed access to our floor. The rooms were well insulated but the keyed entry further ensured a quiet, peaceful evening. The dining room has an excellent view of the bay. A continental breakfast was included. It was buffet style with plenty of selections. Room service was limited if you wanted something light. Overall, we were most impressed with the cleanliness of the Inn and the courteous staff. There is evidence that everyone on staff is proud of their role in making the Inn a first class experience. There are no comparable Inns in the area in our opinion. For those not familiar with the area who have time to explore, do look into touring the various falls in the region. You will be impressed.
I came here a few times for business. The staff were all fantastic, but the room was very dated. The hotel and the dining room were overpriced, so I would head elsewhere in town for dinner or lunch. It is a nice view to be on the bay. I would get a room on the first floor, if you have a lot to carry every day. The elevators are not convenient. There are laundry machines, if you so need. I was provided fresh pillows, sanitized phone receiver and remote control. That was a nice and comforting gesture.
Best Western Inn on the bay is an excellent hotel located right across the bay where you will get a beautiful view. The service is excellent, the rooms are very clean and with lots of space, very comfortable! We had a king sized bed, the room also had a separate sitting area where there was a pull out bed as well, with its own TV.
This hotel offers a great restaurant with a diverse menu and quality food. They are extremely accommodating for all food allergies. I would highly recommend having dinner in the lobby restaurant if you are staying or not even staying at the hotel. If Andrea is working-you will get nothing short of top-notch service!
I have not stayed at many Best Westerns, but I was impressed with this one in Owen Sound. Stayed 2-nights as part of a wedding block of rooms (wedding was not at the hotel). Our room in the 3rd floor with 2 queen beds and a fireplace was fairly spacious and the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and in good repair as well. Note that the 3rd floor is "private" and only accessible with your room key (not sure why this feature is there - might be to keep out the possible rowdy partiers and hockey players??). Unfortunately the weather was when when we had time to walk along the bay to enjoy the waterfront location. The included breakfast is make-your-own waffles, cereal, pastries, fruit, etc and quite good. You can also order off the menu. There did not seem to be much in terms of other food options within walking distance of the hotel (but we did not explore this much).
We were on a fall get away and stopped at Owen Sound midway. My husband was sick so stayed in the hotel. The staff on check in and out were professional. The front desk was great to assist me in getting around in Owen Sound. As it has an interesting street system, to say the least... Didn't get to the restaurant for a meal but did slip in for a morning coffee before departure. Found out we could have the breakfast as take out, though we just wanted coffee. Nice touch. Nice that they have an exercise room and hot tub.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and an ok restaurant sum up this hotel. Had a lunch and breakfast in their dining room and both meals were above average taste wise for a hotel. A little noisy at night but that was due to a couple of weddings winding down. Pricey, but that is because it really is the only decent hotel in town.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The service was excellent - from the registration, to room service and restaurant service. A continental breakfast is included in the rate and there was a good choice of items. You could also order a la carte and had a $5 voucher towards your breakfast. Restaurant serves lunch and dinner as well. Each room as a small fridge. The rooms were very clean - although the 110% clean slogan is silly. Walking to town is possible but not close. Excellent location base for exploring the waterfalls or golfing.
We spent a memorable 6 nights here visiting family and this hotel was the perfect base for our stay. The room was clean, large and a huge bed which was very comfortable. Breakfast is a choice of continental buffet or $5 off the a la crate choices with the most expensive item being $9.99 -$5 , so good value and huge portions. The spa area has lovely views of the bay and very clean with perfect temperatures. However, despite the good of above even better are all the staff - from our greeting at reception and throughout our stay every single staff member were excellent and nothing was ever too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would not hesitate to return on our next visit to Owen Sound. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so great.
Beautiful room, view of lake, Quiet location with lakeshore walking path, Reprints of Group of Seven paintings in hallways, local artist's work on display too. Hotel looks new inside and out, sits on large grounds that are very well kept. Likely the best hotel in Owen Sound. First rate restaurant decor and breakfast.
Every person was great, at reception, service, restaurant and the room was stellar with a great view of the bay. The restaurant is a must, as the foof is excellent with great service. Also the surrounding area with a foot path by the water was very enjoyable It is the best place to stay in Owen Sound and the only hotel right by the water
Had a very pleasant stay a this hotel. Room was large, had views over the bay and very very clean. The flexibility to use breakfast vouchers for the buffet or towards a la carte options is a great idea and the quality was good. If you eat earlier, you do get more choice. Also used the whirlpool spa room which was lovely and warm. Restaurant dinner was also great although service was variable and portion sizes changed between 2 nights! The staff were mostly very friendly and welcoming. A very good hotel in a good location.
We continue to stay at the Best Western Inn on the Bay when we travel to Owen Sound. We were there for 3 nights on the Labour Day long weekend, and had another great experience. The hotel is in a great location right on the water, the hotel staff is absolutely amazing and we had several very good meals in the restaurant.
Very nice place, on the water, walking distance to downtown. Very pleasant. The onsite restaurant is a bonus after a long day on the road. The pathway along the waterfront is a nice relaxing morning walk. The Spa unfortunately was populated with children when I attempted to go for a dip in the whirlpool.
We enjoyed our stay at the BW Hotel. Nicely decorated and very clean. Staff was courteous and friendly. Continental breakfast was included and is served at the Hotels restaurant, whose staff were neat and welcoming. True hospitality!
Stayed at the hotel for a wedding. Felt the price was quite high for the average quality of the hotel. I was neither impressed nor disappointed. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. However, we found an article of clothing beside the couch that was left behind by previous guests.
This is our second stay in this hotel. There is no disappointment, nor surprise. You get what you pay for and that is clean room, breakfast and comfortable bed. If you want to "keep safe" and visiting this part of Canada - Inn on The Bay is place to come. I love the view toward bay with nicely maintained lawn in front of the hotel.
With the breathtaking views of Georgian Bay, Best Western Inn on the Bay is definitely the place to stay. The service is excellent and the cleanliness of the guest rooms is an A+ . Perhaps a little more pricey than some other places to stay in Owen Sound, but oh so worth it. Highly recommend.
Very nice hotel. Probably the best hotel in Owen Sound. It is very close to down town and the bay. The rooms are large and pleasant. The restaurant has plenty of gluten free and vegan selections for those with dietary restrictions..
This hotel is very well kept up. All of the rooms are clean and fresh. Free Breakfasts on premise each day. If you can use the coupon for the buffet, they will take $5 off your regular meal. There is NO POOL here. The water is close by and a trail will take you downtown. Staff was helpful, but they should have told us NOT to walk the trail at night and not to walk back from the downtown area at night. There is nothing going on downtown except for a few restaurants in the evenings. Daily a different story. Farmers Market when we were there, and some nice shops to stop in, when you can find them. Most are empty. Take advantage to stay here and go to the Bruce Peninsula as we did. Its worth it.
This hotel has very friendly and courteous staff, they are always more than willing to help, their room are always very clean, their restaurant is high quality and the location is wonderful...at least in spring and summer.
We stayed at this hotel for a vacation and an Antique Car Tour. The hotel made us feel very welcome. I really enjoyed the location, right beside the water. There is a lovely, and not too long, walk beside the water very easily accessed from the hotel.
Great hotel, good continental breakfast, good location. Was quiet and clean. The pool is really just a whirl pool so not that great to actually swim in. Right on the bay so the view is nice. It is a bit out of the way so it is quite quiet.
Clean rooms. Friendly staff and accommodating to individual needs. Fitness room and hot tub were great. Beautiful location on Lake Huron. Make sure to have a meal at the onsite restaurant. We chose to eat at the hotel instead of going elsewhere as the food was delicious, reasonable prices and fantastic service. Very happy with our stay. Well Done!!
Great Hotel with a good restaurant and bar. I don't think I can say enough good things about this hotel. We stayed for 6 days. We were part of a pre-1916 car touring group. This was our base of operations. The staff was friendly, accommodating and eager to please. The restaurant had good food at reasonable prices. The bar and patio very accommodating. The location of this hotel is on Owen Sound in Georgian Bay. Spectacular views morning and night. A friend brought her paddle board and took to the waters each morning and some evenings. There was also a great walking path along the lake. The path passed a beautiful botanical garden maintained by the Owen Sound Garden Club. A beautiful and varied array of flowers, shrubs and grasses. I walked through several times. Beautiful. There is also a playground for the children. Nicely appointed. A very upbeat hotel. Ready to serve. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Stayed 1 night (28/29 Jul) in order to visit Tobermory and do Lion's Head trail. Great facility situated on Georgian Bay with trails very close by and short walk to downtown restaurants. Good size room, clean and comfortable bed. Nice restaurant on site with view while enjoying our complimentary breakfast. Check in was a breeze, ready to go and attentive staff. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
Hotel is situated on a very scenic bay of Georgian Bay. Lots of rooms and parking. Staff very friendly. Good jumping off point for Tobermory and Bruce trail excursions. Consider eating offsite. We did not have a great experience but may have been an abheration..
We stayed here one night. It is one of the best BWS we have stayed in. Our room was large, modern, comfortable, spotlessly clean and had a great view of the lake. Everything was spot on- friendly, helpful reception staff, great service in the restaurant at breakfast, and a great room. There is both indoor and outdoor seating in the restaurant - we didn't have dinner here but had a coked breakfast which was great. The motel is well situated for downtown with all the restaurants and shops being a short car ride away.
Best hotel that I ever stayed in in Ontario, Canada. From the time we checked in for our 2 night stay till we left everything was perfect. Loved the freshly baked cookies. Hotel friendly and professional. We had room 201, simply the best room in the hotel. Modern decor, spotless and the best view of the bay. I booked a room with the bayview and ended up with a beautiful suite. Leather furniture, like new, modern pictures, tv, window treatment and a bed so comfortable. Amazing room. Loved the breakfast option available. We had complimentary breakfast included. First morning we ordered of the menu, and paid the difference from the continental breakfast. The voucher is worth $5.00 off the menu, great deal. Second morning we had the continental breakfast which we enjoyed. Loved the coffee and the staff working we amazing and friendly. The hotel is beautifully situated on the bay with a beautiful walking trails, quietly located with lots of free parking.
BW Hotel was well situated - great view of the harbour/bay. Our room was extremely clean and a beautiful bathroom. Comfy beds. I'd highly recommend the Best Western Inn on the Bay. It was about a 15 minute easy walk to Downtown.
We stayed for two nights in July. Room 353 was fairly clean and average sized. Our room was non-smoking room but had strong cigarette odour. We weren't being asked about how our stay was during check-out. So I didn't bother to mention about the odour. Overall, our stay at best western on the bay was okay. But don't think we will return.
Nice place, most of the time some party will be going on like wedding , bday party. So, try to book above the second floor facing the lake. Another 3 miles -- you will find all the places to eat. We stayed here for 2 ways to see Tobermory , sauble beach. Morning breakfast is average .
Stayed here for two nights this past weekend with my parents. Check-in went smoothly with friendly service. Our room was nice, spacious, and cool (which was great during hot July days). Our favourite part was using the whirlpool with floor to ceiling views of the bay while we were in it. Nothing like watching the sunset over water while relaxing. The restaurant's food was delicious - breakfast both days was some of the best I've had. Nothing overly fancy, but really good. The hotel was a great base point for us to explore Sauble Beach and the gorgeous local waterfalls one day. I'd highly recommend staying here. We will be back for sure!
We stay in Best Western on the Bay for 3 nights, it was really great experience, we like it, rooms were very clean, room service were very good, all staff was very friendly. Continental breakfast was included, we went one evening to BW restaurant to have dinner - was tasty and not expensive. Good location, near to Sauble beach, to Inglis falls and etc. Strongly recomended!
This hotel is located right on the water of Georgian Bay and right beside the arena. Great location for taking in a hockey game or going for a walk. Downtown is a short walk. The staff is friendly and the hotel is nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are lots of hotels in town but this is the best place to stay.
We've stayed here a few times to visit family in Owen Sound, and are always so impressed with how well managed and maintained this hotel is. The setting is beautiful, right on the water, which you can enjoy whie eating at the restaurant. It's not often you can truly count on the quality of a hotel and staff, but this is an exception to the rule.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The view was the parking lot. My biggest beef is being treated like a second class guest. The bar/restaurant was unavailable on the day of arrival due to a reservation by a wedding party that essentially took over the whole hotel for the duration of our stay. The patio was booked, all the window - front tables were reserved on day 2. If this wedding party was paying a premium for all this attention I might understand why the rest of us were left to fend for ourselves. However, I think my money is as good as theirs but I had to look elsewhere for service. So beware if you should happen to book during wedding season. You may not get everything you think you should have access to.
Just stayed for one night but it was a great location and the front desk staff were great. We came to the area to explore some family genealogy and this place proved to be a nice find as it was convenient to sites and the older part of town.
Lovely view of the water, comfy bed, excellent continental breakfast, helpful staff. The only thing missing would be a shuttle to and from Kelso Beach. Cabs were extremely busy, and the 40 minute walk was a bit much.
First time staying here but we were very pleased with everything concerning our stay. The staff, the room and the food....no complains or concerns whatsoever. Rooms are very clean with super, comfortable beds! I have long, thick hair so love a hotel with good water pressure in their showers. I was not disappointed.
This Best Western is a very nice hotel, my room has a good view of trees and grass, free wifi is very good, free parking is also good. If you look at the picture, you might see a pool and a hot tub. The "pool" is a whirlpool that is small, warm and shallow. The "hot tub" is warmer than the whirlpool, smaller but the same depth. There were no lifeguards or staff members in the whirlpool and there are no lights in the room so it does get a little dark after sun goes down. The bathroom is in good condition and has some modern equipment. The fitness centre is small but does have good equipment. The bed is comfy and the TV is pretty good as well. The drawers have a natural pull when you close them. The Continential Breakfast is good. Who ever owns this location, must be into cleaning a lot, which is a good thing, but for a price. We paid $200 dollars because we were "desperate" for a room "close" to Tobermory and Collingwood.
Very clean room! A terrific night's sleep on an excellent mattress! Great service from a very friendly and efficient staff! So, of course we would stay again! Although there was a special event, it was surprisingly quiet....the room we had was set up very well to accommodate the quiet! We would certainly return here in the future!
Having to travel on business, it is often hard to make yourself feel at home in hotels. This has become my home away from home and the staff have always helped me feel like I belong there as opposed to just being a guest.
Inn on the Bay is always upgrading and maintaining the property. This time I was greeted by new furniture in the rooms. New blinds and new carpet. The staff went way way past expectations and helped me to get a room when I really needed an extra night. They great me every time I walk in and take the time to talk. They really do care. That is what separates this BW from so many others I have stayed at. It is the best run and friendliest one I know. I really can't thank them enough.
...that was my answer to the desk manager who asked"what one thing could we improve"? The room was very clean, quiet, and pleasant. For breakfast we had a choice of a very nice free continental breakfast or $5.00 off of other breakfast choices on the menu, all served in the restaurant with view on the Owen Sound. The staff was pleasant, professional and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel.
Every one was so good to me . Room was clean and the bed comfortable .The view was good but was very stormy out so did not see too much . The breakfast was very good a lot of breakfast food to pick from and also the menu to look over so many choices . Coffee was good .
First, the hotel staff were so friendly! Everybody who works at the Best western seemed to enjoy their jobs, it makes for a pleasant stay. The rooms were immaculate, but the amenities could have been a little better. The "pool" isn't really a pool at all. Other than that our stay was delightful. We ate dinner in the restaurant, the food was outstanding. The service was great! The restaurant was pretty busy, but the staff seemed to run a tight ship. We had Katie as out waitress and she was so personable and almost made us feel like family! Anyone staying in Owen sound this is the place you want to be!
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The view is gorgeous and close to downtown. Walking trail along the bay is beautiful. The rooms are spotless and in very good condition. Beds are very comfortable. The restaurant has an extensive menu and everything we had was excellent. The continental breakfast included had a great selection. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to our next opportunity to stay here.
For decades my mother belonged to a choir: "The Singing Moms". Although they have not performed in years (most are in their 80s), they still get together for a lunch routinely. My wife and I were invited along, since we both know large numbers of the women and their spouses. The food was great; the conversations fueled by that food were even better. The view of the bay from the restaurant is grand.
We needed a place to stay for one night while in town for business. The location of this hotel is nice because it has a lovely path right along the water but if you want something walkable to amenities, there are others that would be a better choice. By car, there are many options close by. The room was clean (but small) and check in was quick. We needed a late check out but they insisted noon was the latest we could check out - we were very disappointed to find out that another person we spoke to was given a 1 pm check out for the same day -not sure why we could not get the same. The continental breakfast requires tickets that they give you at check in. We had 3 people staying in our room and were only given 2 tickets - I am not sure why. We did not bother to ask and one of us just did not have breakfast. This was the first time I have stayed in a hotel where I could hear the neighbours talking through the wall. They were not being loud at all but you could hear them with little difficulty, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to keep this in mind. Overall, it was a clean and efficient place to stay with some nice amenities in a lovely location - but a bit pricey - but I am sure that price is dictated by supply and demand. If I was returning to the area I would probably stay here again.
This is a beautiful property and location is amazing. The rooms and hotel is very neat and clean and staff is good too. The only thing I didn't like was their options in complimentary breakfast were very limited. Usually best western has better breakfast with more options. We took the a-la-carte breakfast from their menu and that was really tasty. It is almost like they keep it limited in order to sell from their restaurant.Overall experience was good.
Enjoyed 3 night stay @ this Best Western. Location is right on the bay with plenty of scenic views and a nice walking path alongside. Continental breakfast is included & newly renovated rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated
We had another wonderful visit to Owen Sound that was topped of with a wonderful, relaxing and quiet stay in our beautiful suite at the Best Western Inn on the Bay. This hotel never ceases to satisfy our requirements when it comes to a comfortable bed and excellent service. We checked in with ease at the front desk to very courteous and obliging staff. The discounted breakfast was an additional bonus for us before our long drive home. Great service all the way around!
This hotel provides the basic amenities plus a great quality restaurant on-site. The service & staff competence & friendliness set it apart from other hotels in the area. The hotel & room was very clean, and exceeded my expectations. The only negative I can comment on is that the fitness room could have more equipment such as a workout station. It has cardio equip. & dumbbells which is fine, but a station would offer a complete body workout.
Beautiful on the bay. Good breakfast, nicely appointed rooms. Best spot in Owen Sound. Recently renovated bedrooms, nice... Easy check in, local art for sale in the lobby. Great view in the restaurant.
Nice property with great team members. Rooms were large and cozy. Breakfast was very confusing. It said it was included and gave me a paper slip but when I went in nothing there really. Had a glass of juice and bought breakfast on the way to my meeting. No elevator.
This is an impeccably clean hotel with a friendly and helpful staff that seem to love their jobs. I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone. The room is up to date, not in need of any repairs. The king bed is very comfortable, there is also a sofa, desk, fridge and an approximately 40" flat screen tv. The Inn is sits on the shore of beautiful Georgian Bay and is convenient to downtown.
You may pay more for this hotel but it is worth the value. From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed with open arms. The rooms are grand, the free breakfast is great and the staff go beyond to make sure your staff is 100% satisfactory.
When we checked in we were told we were at the best hotel in Owen Sound...maybe but that doesn't mean much. We found the room itself to be very clean, although amenities were poor, like worst toilet paper ever (thought I was in Eastern Europe) and the towels thin as can be. That said the public areas weren't very clean. The elevator had the same garbage on the floor in the morning as the previous night, the public washroom by the restaurant really needed a cleaning. This is supposed to be a non smoking hotel but people just smoke by the windows which open in their rooms and they go outside by the staircase, smoke and then it goes all thru the hallways. Staff were made aware but they don't say anything to those that are smoking. If you go on a night when the place is full of hockey fans then it's a rowdy noisy place. The breakfast was very limited-they try to get you to upgrade to order off the menu. There was very little fruit, for instance never a decent banana...one was there but rotten one morning, next morning one was there but frozen, and there was only ever one. For protein there was cold hard boiled eggs and that was it, so it was barely passable for a breakfast. The pool is different, (it's two hot tubs really)there is no swimming pool and the room is so small that it's uncomfortable if other guests are in it. There is a nice view from the pool room. I really felt that this place was overpriced, it seems to charge more because it has corporate clients come and that's what keeps them afloat, but really it was too much for what you get.
My husband and I stayed for two nights on business. I'm not sure why anyone would not be happy with this hotel. Everything was top notch. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Right down to the housekeeping. The room was spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. The restaurant was very accommodating and the food was great! The included breakfast was more then enough. If you wanted to order from the menu it was discounted also. Besides the April weather in Owen Sound the stay was perfect!
Typical Best Western. Check in was efficient, room clean, restaurant average but closes at 10PM. Breakfast was continental and limited but enough for an early bite to eat. Didn't use any amenities as I was on a business trip and only there for one night. Bed was comfortable and view was the parking lot but if you luck out you might get one of the bay.
Very accommodating. When we went to check in they had us in a room with two queens and I mentioned we were fine with only one queen and would prefer a quiet location. They were able to set us up with our preference. Our room was clean, perfect size and had a view of the water. The bed was very comfortable. Could not ask for more. Staff was very friendly. It has a great continental breakfast. We also had dinner there and I will say they have a great selection and the food was excellent. I know locals are known to come to just have dinner . Would definitely come back .
four guys on boys weekend.....kitchener rangers and owen sound attack final game of the year....check in smooth and super friendly....rooms quite acceptable.....a hop skip and a jump across the parking lot and you are at the Harry lumley arena for the game....park you car and never move it.....morning continental breakfast was suitable....bagels, fruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee....saturday night after the hockey game, 1/2 price wings in hotel restaurant....good marketing on that one.....had lunch at hotel also....all items on menu were acceptable.....check out was just a swift.....will NOT hesitate to book the boys next road trip at the best western.....all good and thanx for the hospitality and great service.....
I often head up to Owen Sound to spend time at the waterfalls and enjoy the local walkways by the water. The Best Western Inn On The Bay has some great suites that look out onto Georgian Bay. Just steps from the inn there is a walkway that goes both north and south along the shore with some nice areas to stop, rest and enjoy a sunset. I appreciate this inn for the breakfast buffet that's included in the room fee as well as the relaxed atmosphere. In the summer you can enjoy your meals at the outside patio, beside the water.
We went for a weekend, and it cost way too much for what you get. The rooms were nice, but done cheaply to look expensive, and it really didn't pull it off. Small too. We got a king luxury suite and it was a king sized cupboard. I can say it was clean, and we appreciate that for sure. Breakfast was paid for to a point, but if you wanted more than the cheap "days inn" style of breakfast, you had to pay. In Owen Sound, it is the only choice for a decent hotel, but it barely makes the mark.
We love this place because it is so convenient to many things including the Bayshore. The rooms are warm, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Staff great and the lounge, dining room are close with good food and prices. Views are great, and it's a cool place to go for a walk or hike etc. Also, there is a breakfast voucher which makes it a great deal.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks and felt like family when we left. The staff made us feel very welcome and almost like family. Rooms were very clean and the food was DELICIOUS.
Stayed her as part of a leisure/business trip. My wife and I have stayed at a few different properties in Owen Sound and this is by far the best in town. However, be prepared to spend a premium for a hotel that while clean and well staffed is quite expensive for what it is. There is ample free parking and the front desk staff is very welcoming and efficient. The hotel amenities were quickly but thoroughly explained to us and we were in our room in less than 5 minutes. Despite being on the ground floor (rm 114) we did not hear much noise from neighbours. There were a couple of people yelling in the hallway at one point but other than that the room was quite quiet. Everything in the room was functional and there are ample power outlets. The furnishings are in reasonable shape but quite dated. We found the bed to be on the firm side but that's a personal preference. There was no view to speak of from our room but we hadn't requested one and only used the hotel for sleep. A huge negative for me is the stability and speed of the wifi. It frequently cut out and all but the siplest of web pages were very slow to load. Overall the property is decent, functional and people are friendly. You won't marvel at the luxury (unless you've stayed somewhere else in Owen Sound). I still think the hotel is over-priced but obviously people, including us, pay what they want.
Not much to choose from in Owen Sound. A little over-priced for Owen Sound; everything just average. Good location and view of the bay. Restaurant/lobby bar need some decent wine selection. Did not eat there so cannot comment on food quality
We had a nice suite facing the Bay, comfy bed, nice chair & ottoman to watch TV, free wifi and free continental breakfast which was a lot more than we expected - waffles, hard boiled eggs, toast and the usual cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice and a good selection of tea/coffee.
It's so nice to be beside Georgian Bay. Small but nice spa/hot tub. Good food in restaurant. Pleasant and quiet rooms. Great staff. Easy location to access the shops and restaurants of the downtown core. Lots of free parking.
We had been at this hotel 5 or 6 years ago and were happy with the service then. We decided on short notice to "use some points" and go see the "NORTHERN LIGHTS" of Owen Sound. Highly recommended! Go for a ride in a horse drawn carriage around the lights in the town. We were very pleased that our room was overlooking the river...what a pleasant surprise when we were just using "points". We used the credit, forgoing the complimentary "continental breakfast" and got "The BEST eggs benedict" yet, in the restaurant/lounge.
Lovely Best Western; great views on the Bay; fantastic hottub overlooking the water; fireplace suite; everything was perfect. Staff extremely helpful & pleasant; breakfast was continental, but quite sufficient, all fresh & delicious. Really beautiful spot and excellent hotel.
We often go to this location because of the wonderful staff and facilities. This time we used our BW points and were treated just like paying customers - hmm, Royalty! Yes, this location is just the best for friendly staff and great accommodations! Enjoyed the location of our room - near the hot tub/sauna. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant on site. Wow, great food! Seafood Thermidor and Lamb Sirloin were our choices and we weren't disappointed. Katie, our server was great! We actually had Katie as our server for breakfast too. Yummy Eggs Benedict. Dedicated staff. Great chefs with great food. Front desk staff were great! Gave us info on the hotel & possible upcoming snowstorm. We'll be back next year.
This is an average Best Western but it is too far from down town to walk. The complimentary breakfast was below par, however the staff services in this hotel was excellent They appear to really enjoy working here. The rooms are fine the beds are great and the internet is fast and worked very well. it was over priced for November and this location.
Was here for a conference and enjoyed the hotel. Most important to me is that a hotel be clean and in good condition - and this hotel is both. Phones and tv remote controls came clean and wrapped. The service staff for the conference were excellent - and even though they were serving a lot of people at once they had no problem with special requests. I have a very restricted diet and forgot to call ahead with a request - the chef prepared a good meal for me at the last minute. The next day when everyone else was eating buffet the server came up to me in advance and made some suggestions about food the kitchen would prepare for me. The bed was comfortable - although the pillows were large, and when I called down to the front to see if there was a smaller pillow or a feather pillow they had neither. Tips: * get a room on the lake side * splurge on a room with a hot tub * rooms with a fireplace were a bit bigger than rooms without fireplace * bring your own pillow if you don't like big pillows * bring walking shoes, there's a nice trail by the lake * there's lots of nature activities to do in this area - and also, for a blast from the past, Owen Sound has a drive in
Super friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, comfy beds and great restaurant in the hotel and nearby. Pool is a little small but for business travel it's perfect for relaxing. Rooms are also fairly sound proof. There is also a walking trail behind the hotel along the water's edge.
excellent customer -centered staff and very clean rooms nice view of Owen Sound Bay I ate breakfast lunch and dinner there and the dining room offered gluten free toast and pasta and one Gluten-free dessert . I would suggest they offer more fresh fruit and vegetarian options
We stayed at this hotel for one night on October 18th to allow for an early trek to Tobermory on October 19th. Check in was quick, and the room was very comfortable (King Size Room) with somewhat of a separate sitting area and looking out at the water. The service in the restaurant was amazing and they have a wide variety of food to choose from. We will definitely stay again the next time in the area.
Took my family to Owen Sound for a mini summer vacation. We booked this hotel because of its location and to earn loyalty points. I called early to see if they were ready for us and our room was available for an early check in. Our room was on a private floor where you needed a key to access the rooms, this was a bonus! Housekeeping was working on a room across from ours and I complimented her on how well she had cleaned our room, it looked fantastic. I was very impressed with our view of the bay and we had a great stay. I would definitely stay here again ??
Lovely location! Clean rooms, pleasant staff, very comfortable bed. Odd little hot tub in the common area, uncomfortable if more than a couple of people in it. During the daylight, the walk along the paved pathway by the water is absolutely lovely! At night, it was sketchy; portions of the path were in pitch darkness and industrial zones.
We stayed at this hotel with another couple so we shared one room and split the price. Check in was quick, and the staff was pleasant. Breakfast coupons are included and so is the parking. We had car haulers and there was plenty of parking. We will stay here again if in the area.
I called last minute travelling with my Golden retriever. From initial point of contact to my departure the next day, every one I came in contact was very friendly and very helpful! The hotel was very very clean and quiet, even with a wedding going on! The spot is ideally located with a lovely walk nearby! I ordered in room service (of course dogs not welcome in restaurant), riser ice was quick, food was great! Beds were comfy, overall excellent hotel experience!
Found the Best Western on the way to tobermory. ... was a great stay. The staff was really kind and friendly... I was able to get my family in to a 2 room suite the 1st night and it was a awesome room with a great view of the lake. Second night had to shift rooms.... they where sold out but where able to squeeze my family in .... it was a great Idea to stay a second night even with a smaller room. The food was great ... the restaurant staff was super nice. Thank you all!! Just 1 item I would add to the roo.s would be a microwave. Thank you
Great clean room with very comfortable amenities. Adequate breakfast included. Quiet sleeping conditions with air conditioning coming on occasionally very loudly . Simply turned it off and it was OK. Centrally located within walking distance of downtown shopping area
