Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn

For a conveniently located hotel just off of 72 in Monticello Illinois, is very comfortable and peaceful for its price range. The staff is so kind. I have vision problems and the helped me tremendously by getting me a room on the first floor and near the entrance. Thats rare in my experience. I always enjoy parking the car for the night after a day of driving. The easy walk to the restaurant next door was convenient. The spaghetti dinner hit the spot. They have a wide variety of comfort food on their menu.

The staff was excellent and the rooms clean. Stayed just one night and was put in adjorning rooms. We had family events, so did not take part in the breakfast. Highly recommend if you are in the need for a room in the area, this is the right hotel.

Jan 20, 2024 - I was pleasantly surprised to see the nice little lobby (still decorated with Christmas trees but I thought it looked pretty and cozy). My queen room had great space, probabably for two besds but we just had/needed 1. Very clean bathroom. Liked the bathroom amentities (some places skip having conditioner.) Had a back door in our room (great for traveling with my dog) and it looked out to a lake. Nice hot breakfast and seating area. Also had an indoor pool (which we did not use). Friendly staff. I was very pleased.

The employees at the front desk were extremely kind! The manager was fun to talk with! The young man who works at night, and is going to college was a joy to talk with about college choices! Room was extremely clean! The view was fantastic. The hotel was quiet and we were able to sleep soundly. The snow was removed immediately, and the walkway was clear and not slippery. Great stay, wonderful price, and phenomenal people who work there!

The property was clean, quiet and well maintained. The folks who worked there were very friendly. We used to live in Monticello so this was our first time back for a visit. This hotel is on the top of our list of many places we've stayed over the years.

Our Event was fun and comfortable thanks to the management and amazing staff. I was impressed with mini store in the lobby. I had no need to leave the property while visiting. Everything I needed was there.

Less than 1/2 hour from Memorial Stadium, didn't require a 2 night stay. We decided to attend an Illini game last minute, and were surprised at the rates in Champaign. Decided to stay south of the city since that is on our way home.

We came to attend the Half Centrury Progress Show for 3 days. Checked in, clean room. Got up at 6:00 am went to breakfast. Choice of pancakes or blan sausage gravey and biscuits for the hot meal. Left in the morning returned late afternoon, no room service. Okay. Very Hot and dusty. reused the towels. Okay. Next morning repeat of the day. Hot, dusty and no room service, no clean towels. I have never styed in and hotel that does not come in and make sure the trash is taken out and clean towels. When we checked out there was a baby in a walker behind the counter. That is fine until the baby goes to crying. Does the employee answer the phone or pick up the crying baby?

The staff was great and the room was very clean!! Breakfast was very good and convenient. Bed and pillows were comfortable! Very nice entry way and everything outside was clean. We will definitely use this hotel again.

I stayed at the hotel as I traveled from North Carolina to visit with my father after he received a terminal cancer diagnosis. Upon checking in, I was immediately impressed by the level of customer service offered by the desk attendant on duty at 8pm on the 16th of August. However, on my final night, the 18th, I returned to my room at approximately 7:30 after spending the day caring for my father to find the toilet and the floor of the bathroom covered in water (or a water-like substance…it was not clean/clear) that was steadily dripping from multiple places from the vent in the ceiling directly above the toilet. I went to the front desk and informed the attendant of the leak. At first, he was skeptical, as he stated that there was no one staying above me. I showed him a picture I had taken, and he asked to come see the room. I brought him down, and he saw for himself what was going on. He walked across the hall to the room diagonally across from mine (115?) and retrieved the “maintenance man” from that room. They went upstairs and returned approximately 5 minutes later to let me know they shut the water off to the room above. The water was still dripping in my bathroom, and I asked what should be done for my room. I was told it should stop. No offer of moving rooms or any fix was given. More than an hour later, the vent is still dripping. The bathroom is unusable, and I am not sure exactly WHAT is dripping from the ceiling. I have asked for a manager's contact information and have been told that “they are aware of the situation,” which is far from the point. This is potentially a hazmat exposure of a guest and this is not okay. I have pictures and video I am happy to share with whomever needs to be shown.

Pool was was closed due to maintenance but the lady at the desk told me its because the room floods when they turn the pump on but there is women staying in it now for the week and the pump was running the day before we checked out. A lot of people that I have talked to in this town told me it is always down. There was not enough food put out for breakfast, it took five minutes for the water in the shower to get hot. No room service the whole 12 days we were there. Washer leaked, ice machine was broken, we was told to put our wet towels and garbage in the hallway, they sat for two day's. There was a half eaten hamburger in the microwave that smelled horrible, there was a used steak knife that had something on it, left on a table. No toilet paper. I had to keep going to the front desk for towels and toilet paper. The employees are rude! There are broken down air conditioners sitting in the hallway on the first floor with the fronts opened, so if a child were to touch them they could get cut. This place was horrible! They won't give me a refund cause they said I did a walk through before we got the room and I did not!

This hotel is beautiful inside and out. The decor is wonderful on the back of the property is a huge wrap around deck that overlooks a pond it is all around lovely. Rooms are beautiful, great chat area in lobby. Really loved this property

Staff was lovely. Hotel clean and quiet. Bed comfy. Breakfast was sparse, but made sense for the number of guests (and I appreciate that there would not be food wasted). It was nice to have a patio to sit and eat. My only complaint was that the room was very humid. Air conditioner worked but dehumidifiers would be useful.

Toilet leaked onto floor. Toilet seat was dirty. Dust on alarm clock. I requested that I not be charged for the room but now the charge is pending. We had to move to a Best Western Plus in Champaign. It is really sad that even though the rooms were renovated that the housekeeping and maintenance is so poor. The pool was closed for maintenance.

I had 5 friends who went to the railroad museum witj me. Im asian and i haf my black friend and three white friends. The lady at the front desk seemed nice until she made a big stink for us about smoking in the room specifically marajana. We dont smoke we were literlly there for the Railroad museum next door. Never heard her mention that to the white family behind us weirdly enough and coninute to question why we were there. Then we get to the room. The toliet didnt work and the A/C barely kept up. Mind you we paid $169 per room for two rooms. Then my girlfriend went to the pool. Immedetly came to me saying she found about 10 dead centipedes on the pool deck. Then breakfast time came and theyhad the most pitful continental breakfast ive ever seen. Dont get me wrong theres worse but for a town with literllly no other options to eat at havibg white toast and the option for pankakes or clearly frozen microwaveable sandwiches was a sorry excuse. One again i paid $340 for teo rooms. I could have gotten a air BNB or gone up the road to champain and had 10x better expience. Want my opinion stay somewhere else. If your any other race than white stay clear of here you can find way better places to stay.

Gateway Inn is a great place to stay! The staff is friendly and always trying to make your stay pleasant! The location is convenient to the rodeo grounds! Gas station directly across from the Inn is also handy! The breakfast selection was good both days! A delightful place after the cold and windy rodeo!

I have stayed here many times over many years visiting family in area. I have come to expect clean and well appointed rooms in a quiet location just off the interstate. Location is a definite asset. Breakfasts are minimal but satisfactory. Have always felt welcomed and without hesitation recommend this BW site. For anyone interested in exercise the large indoor swimming pool is a nice extra.

We stayed in Monticello to visit family and friends. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Manisha was so helpful. It is under renovation but it didn't affect our stay. Will stay here again in the future.

Stayed there for one night. We had the king bed with sofa in it. The lobby was in midst of transforming from fall to Christmas so had stuff in the lobby. Our grandkids enjoyed the big pool. Biggest pool I have ever seen in a hotel. Had two heaters in this room. The breakfast was okay. Nothing special. Just apple juice to drink besides coffee. Looks like a nice deck area to sit in warmer weather. Not much within walking distance. Some restaurant and gas station. The bed was nice. Lake behind the building. Would stay again.

The owner and entire staff was welcoming and accommodating.The rooms and entire property were very clean and well maintained. Decor was modern and comfortable. Wish all hotels were this clean and well-run.

Great place for this event. The hotel was clean, friendly staff and very accommodating. I will definitely come back. It looked like upgrades, recently. New tubs and counters in the bathroom. Decorating for the holidays was nice.

The beds are very comfortable. Very clean rooms and very helpful staff. The pool was nice and clean. As were the towels. The rainfall ahower head was also a nice touch. And the view from the room is nice

When you can really only find one place to stay, it's always a bit concerning; however this property is great and would highly recommend. We were in town for a wedding and it was convenient, extremely clean and very friendly staff.

We reserved 2 rooms for a weekend wedding. The rooms we were given were on the 1st floor. The hallway smelled of rotten cantelope and the ceiling tiles were gone. Obvious that there has been a problem. One of the rooms smelled of smoke. Had to get a different room. Hot water not working in either of the two rooms we ended up with. The kicker is what I discovered under the sheets of my bed. Blood stained bed liner. I can't even believe it. I feel like I am in a nightmare as I write this.

When you first met the lady at the desk and listened to her sweet voice it made it ok, very friendly and cared you was there. Yes it is an older place, and yes there are a few things they could upgrade and it appeared they were doing that as some work went on during the day. but overall had a nice stay.

The hotel looks good from the lobby. We got a room on the second floor all the way down the hall. All the doors to all the rooms going all the way down the hall were propped open. You could see inside each room, beds unmade, lights on in some, curtains open, room is disarray. I did see a stack of bathtubs stacked at the front end of the hall so I guess they were going to do some remodeling but it was eerie like something from a Stephen King novel when walking down the hall. The pool was large and the kids enjoyed it. The deck out back would have been nice but it was well weathered, worn and tired. There were only two other cars in the parking lot. There were four of us and only towels for two. We had to go down and get more towels. The most disappointing part was breakfast. There was a waffle maker but no waffle mix, asked told they didn't have any. There was no microwave, it was a prepackage honey bun or a Jimmy Dean type sandwich under a heat lamp and there were only 3 of them and 4 of us. They had a cereal dispenser with three spaces for cereal but only had two types of cereal to choose from. There was no juice dispenser only apple or orange juice in a little cup and a very limited number. I would expect this from a super 8 but not a Best Western. I always liked Best Western brand but I am reconsidering my choices. If I had wanted to stay at a Super 8 then I could have done so. I picked a Best Western because they are suppose to be more upscale. Not here, this is a Super 8 (even a motel 6) motel at a Best Western price. I would not stay here again.

Booked a Q Suite specifically for the walk in shower for my husband. Got a suite but with a double bed. Shower was the saving grace. The bathroom was the best thing in the room. Nice double sink countertop.

I brought my husband back to my home town for a quick tour of where I grew up and a nature adventure at the near by Allerton Park. The BW is one of two hotel options in small town Monticello. Looking for a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price....look somewhere else. Looking for a 2 star hotel at a 4 star price....look no futher. It's a BW, so you can't be too hard, but bring your own pillows/towels

I was so happy to be able to book a room on short notice here - I live locally but was having water problems - so they took us in quickly, we had a large room and it was quiet and the temperature was perfect on a rather hot day. I was able to get a swim in, in the morning and the pool was chilly at first - but perfect once I swam a couple of laps. I felt so refreshed! The breakfast was ample and the biscuits and gravy was surprisingly tasty! I had work to do on my computer, and had the sunny breakfast area to myself after 9am. I also appreciated the cleanilness and kindness of the staff.

The pool was ice cold, there is one bathroom(by pool area) with only one toilet and no lock on the bathroom door. breakfast food was cold and there were ants everywhere, on counters and tables. Ants in the rooms, bedsheets were dirty. Not enough towels. Definitely not worth $200!!!

We stayed for a soccer tournament. This was a perfect hotel! The kids loved the giant pool. The rooms were huge and very clean. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was good- nice variety! We would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely stay at the BWMonticello. The staff was friendly, helpful, resourceful. Our room was comfortable, updated, quiet, spacious. The pool is exceptionally large, clean, and perfectly heated for swimming laps. We will stay there again.

The staff here was so helpful and made sure that I had all that I needed for my stay while I was there. The rooms were clean and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was hot and had such a verity. From cold to hot foods.

This is by far one of the best, if not the best hotel we've stayed at just by service and how courteous the staff are. Especially the main lady. Being here for work, working away from home on months at a time, it is extremely heartwarming with how understanding they have been with my partner and I. Exceptionally clean. Quiet location on the edge of town, and luckily Monticello is not that big of a place. Food still delivers. Gorgeous landscape view out back with allowance to walk around. Locality, upkeep, friendly and understanding staff. There's nowhere else in this area that can beat this hotel. They will always be our go to while we're around. Thank you for everything you have done for us!

Staff and ownership does its best to make accommodate you. They are remodeling, but is still the nicest hotel in the area. I look forward to seeing hotel once all renovations are finished. I will be booking here again when back in the area.

The hotel was very clean. Towels were a little thin. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Internet worked well. Not plush but comfortable for a night. Front desk staff were all friendly, professional and helpful. I was in town for business and would stay here again rather than drive from nearby metro areas where the selection of hotels is larger. There was a free breakfast but I was headed to a breakfast meeting and didn't utilize the hotel's.

We stay at this motel every November when we attend The Polar Express and we are always pleased with cleanliness, friendliness of staff and overall experience. We would definitely recommend this location. Looking forward to next year ,

Awesome Place,Awesome people! They went out of there way to help me when I needed it! Clean rooms,great lobby with fireplace, Great breakfast area with Deck! my room had a deck overlooking water! Heated pool,great breakfast. Convienence store and restaurant next door. Must stay if in the area! I will stay here every time I'm in the area!

No artwork on the walls just nails where art used to be. Coffee maker was moldy. Tub jets and shower were moldy. Nightstand had water damage. Cobwebs everywhere. The heating/cooling unit was sitting on bricks. Phone was removed but cord was still dangling out of the wall. Smoke alarm was hanging by wires from the ceiling. Sprinkler had no cover so insulation was exposed. No shower curtain. Microwave is 35yrs old and dirty. Counter was stained. Kitchenette light was broken and the walls were dirty. Bathroom was dimly lit. Exhaust fan on a timer that doesn't work so it never turns off. Couch was dirty. No extra toilet paper. Towel rack was crooked and loose.

The hotel itself is well kept and clean. Our room appeared to have been remodeled not long ago. It had an outdoor deck that overlooked a large pond. They served a limited breakfast due to the pandemic, but it had many options including microwavable sandwiches. It is within walking distance of a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and diner. Easy access to the interstate. We would definitely stay again.

I will definitely be coming back for work and stay here at this hotel. I stayed for 30+ days. Manisha made my stay very comfortable. She was extremely accommodating. From her great hospitality and customer service to the great communication . I will surely be staying here again. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else because of her. Keep up the good work ! She makes you feel at home especially for me because I was miles and miles away from mine. Thumbs up!

This is the best hotel I've been to especially for the price. I've been staying here for 43 days and they took great care of me any problem we had they fixed right away and we barely had any problems. The workers are pleasant and nice. I would definitely come back and I will be back. Great people and clean hotel.

I would not recommend this Best Western. It looks OK from the outside. But our room needed a better contractor then they used. Tub enclosure was not cut properly, they tried to cover it with trim but it was all coming loose. There were small bugs crawling out from under the trim. But the breakfast was good considering covid

Attended a 5 day conference and everything was taken care of in an orderly efficient manner in spite of COVID. Would recommend the facility to any event planner. Staff was flexible and knowledgeable to take care of all our needs.

I was working in Monticello and stayed here 2 nights, Monday 7/26 and Tuesday 7/27/2021. I had made Reservations a couple days Prior. I was Greeted Very Nicely and My Reservation was available. The Building has 2 Floors, you can use the Stairs or Lobby Elevator to access 2nd Floor. I had Room #213. It Overlooked the Back of the Hotel, which was a Water view, that no one could see in the window with the Curtains Open. The Room had everything I needed. The Fridge was Large and even had a Freezer Compartment. There was Hot Water instantly for a Shower or Bath. The King Bed and Pillows Slept Well. There is a Large Indoor Pool. Great Couple Nights Sleep with a Friendly Staff

Had a wonderful experience. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Management was very accommodating. Hand sanitizer and masks were available for those who wanted them. Will be coming back.

As a group, we continue to come back to this location year after year. The service we receive is always over the top. Always greeted with smiling faces as they are genuinely happy to see us! Great place! Clean rooms and great beds. Can't say enough good about this location!

We had a great time at our event. Menesha makes every effort to ensure our stay is fantastic and that our needs are met . She goes above and beyond any hotel I have stayed in prior. I would definitely come back. The beds were awesome and really comfortable. Everything was great!

We stayed here only one night, but the experience was much better than I expected. I prefer a suite, because my husband and I usually don't have the same sleep schedule. Their suites were more than I wanted to pay, so we took a regular room. BUT when I woke up early, I was able to go to the lobby and sit in a quiet area to read and pray. Plus, the lady who was clerking at the desk was very kind and thoughtful, offering me a second cup of coffee, to turn on the lights, etc. Plus, they had available gluten-free options for breakfast, which I need. She even made sure that they had instant oatmeal on hand for me. I really appreciate their thoughtfulness!

Our small group of friends had a great experience during our stay. Everything was very clean--wipes and hand sanitizer were available to guests. Breakfast options were also good. Rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable.

The room was not very clean, which was unfortunate to experience during a pandemic. There were bottle caps under the bed/couch, mystery crust on the carpet, toilet seat and handle had not been cleaned, tv remote was not clean. Pool was closed, which is ok if they would've discounted us for the inconvenience. Way to expensive for a subpar experience in a dirty room.

Because of "covid" they offer little for breakfast, don't clean if you are staying multiple days, and do not tell you this when checking in. The girl who checked us in, was not friendly, acted like she didn't like having to do her job, waz somewhat rude. For ALL this they still charged FULL PRICE!!! No discount for little breakfast, NO CLEANING , AND THE RUDNESS! Room COULD HAVE BEED CLEANER, there was black dirt or dust on AC, floors needed vacuuming better. I've stayed in place that cost alot less and had a much better experience. COVID is no reazon not to do your BEST!

Very friendly staff, they go out of their way to make you comfortable. The room accommodations are great and very clean. I have stayed there multiple times with a large group of 50 plus women at a scrapbook retreat and the hotel experience has been beyond and above.

Friendly, helpful staff. Accommodating to our groups needs. Lounge/lobby furniture not comfortable; and, as mentioned before no good lighting to sit and read. Location is a perfect gat-away for this type of gathering and the price is right!

I've stayed at this particular Best Western multiple times now for business. It's always clean, the front desk workers are always friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast is always nice and hot. Overall, an excellent job every time by the staff

Lobby clean and beautiful, room nice for the price, easy interned access, Front desk attendant very nice, willing to help with any questions in and outside of town. Vending machine has nice selection of food.

Do not believe anything the people at the front desk tell you about pool parties or what you will be charged. We were lied to and over charged. They will change the rules mid game and expect you to pay for their staffs ignorance. Hopefully that extra $65 they got from us was worth it. No it's not a lot of money but it's still wrong in my book to tell a person one thing and then do another.

My room was clean, comfortable (great bed) and had a beautiful view. The backside of the motel overlooks a stream and woods. Also, I left a hang-up Vera Bradley makeup bag on the back of the bathroom door. It is part of a valued vintage luggage set. Today when I realized I'd left it, I called Manisha at Best Western and she knew exactly why I was calling and promised to mail it to me in Wisconsin tomorrow morning. I'll definitely book this motel again!

Great stay!! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The pool was great! Its very large and clean! The room was a standard room with no frills...great view of the river. Breakfast was good - we had bagels and the kids had waffles - your typical free hotel breakfast. They were so accomadating... look forward going back!!!

My recent stay at the Best Western in Monticello was superb. The staff was courteous, the rooms were clean, and the complimentary breakfast buffet was enjoyable. I will most definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Great access to the freeway and a little gas station across the street in case you forgot/need something . I lost my sister unexpectedly and they allowed us to have a family gathering after the funeral services. It's a very reasonably priced place to stay. I would definitely stay here again

We had a Basketball Tournament in Monticello on 12/26/19 - 12/28/19 decided to stay here for the first time, We were very surprised to see how friendly and beautiful this place was. Very comfortable, clean, and anything to make my stay better they did. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants a pleasant stay.

Wonderful place to stay. Staff was super. Accommodations were excellent. Dining experience great and pool was so nice. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Easy on, easy off of interstate. Rooms spacious and clean. We'll be back!!!!

Kimberly was super nice and helpful when I called to confirm our reservation for four rooms for our family of 10 and to ask questions about check-in and the pool. We asked if we would be allowed to use the “breakfast room” to eat dinner that we had delivered to the hotel. It was nice to be able to eat together as a whole group and to use the tables instead of eating in one of our rooms. The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas. Since we were there for the Polar Express, it added to the holiday experience.

We really enjoyed our stay after the Polar Express! Clean rooms, great breakfast and snacks/coffee offered all day long! The heated pool is very clean and HUGE!! We will be back very soon! Wonderful customer service!

We came in for Thanksgiving. Needed around 6 rooms. Cookies were waiting for us during check in, all the choices you would ever want for beverages and a great breakfast. Staff was super friendly and so helpful.

New , clean rooms and great service ... They even have a manager's reception where they have a snack or a full meal ! I go out of my way to stay here when I'm in the area... The service at this motel is up to the highest standards...

This hotel is great due to the staff and overall experience of the stay. I arraved to late for the veggie tray or hot wings but was greated by name when I arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast only needed bacon to be complete. There was biscits and gravey, fruit, waffles. Juices, bagels, rolls and dry cereal. Something for everyone. Next time I may even bring my swim trunks as there is an indoor pool.

Awesome staff. Beautiful view out the windows on the rear of the hotel. Lots of parking. Huge nice pool. They went up and above their expectations to make sure everything is up to par. Stayed here over 2 weeks and if we needed anything they was there taking care of it.

The staff and the owner, were all great. They made sure we were all taken care of, and happy with our experience. I got hurt at work one day, while staying there, they went above and beyond to help me. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels, and don't feel like I would've been helped as much as I was here. I personally thank you all for everything you did to help me, even though you didn't have to. I sincerely appreciate everything!

I stayed the weekend for a scrapbook retreat. Very clean and updated rooms. Breakfast offered lots of choices. Staff was friendly. Highly recommend for a quick getaway just minutes from Champaign. Easy to get to from the interstate.

We come to this hotel 2-3 times a year for 3 nights each trip. This hotel is always clean. The staff is always friendly. The continental breakfast always has a great variety. Every time we come they have made improvements each time. From redoing the pool to putting in a small exercise room. The price is also very reasonable.

I have been coming here many years for scrapbooking weekends 1-2 times a year. The service is always excellent. The breakfast is typical hotel breakfast. If there is any problem, the owner makes sure the problem is fixed to your satisfaction.

I stay at the Best Western during my 4 day stints at a largw scrapbooking event. We are all treated very well by the staff. We do this 3 times a year and I have been attending for over 2 years now. All of us are very happy with the Best Western in Monticello, IL.

Great place for scrapbooking with a large group. Great service and clean rooms. Have been coming here for years. Good breakfast and coffee available all day. Friendly staff at the front desk. Rooms recently remodeled.

The office is very sweet and welcoming and will greet you with free food and beverages every meal of the day. Friendly and super hospice. The staff will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and have e everything you need

Good stay for an Illinois game. The hotels closer had questionable reviews or above my price range so I picked here. Clean room. Staff was really nice. Breakfast is what you'd expect. The area is really quiet.

Nice hotel. Clean,. Friendly people. I split the bill of $103 with my sister. My checkout bill showed this clearly. But when I checked my bank account the next day the hotel charged me $154. This was finally resolved . SOME STRANGERS KEY WORKED ON OUR ROOM DOOR.

The problem was the cleaning fee added to the bill to be be taken off when checked out! It was cleared on Wednesday from my account! My room was not cleaned during the day, but night clerk gave me couple towels and said cleaning fee would be credited from bill on top of 50.00 cleaning feeat check in!

We stayed one night at the hotel during a visit with our daughter who is a student at University of Illinois. Besides the convenience of being less than 15 minutes from campus, the hotel was very clean, updated, and had the largest indoor pool we have seen in any roadside hotel. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The lobby and food areas are large, bright and inviting. We made breakfast sandwiches and grabbed yogurts/coffee before hitting the road. A very nice hotel experience. Bonus-The Railroad Museum is down the road and you can play slots at the service station across the street!

Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the staff pleasant and helpful. When the ice ran out, staff got me some from the kitchen. The room stayed cool in spite of 95 degree heat outside. I'll definitely be back!

Even nicer than last year. They are constanting upgrading. I will be back! The owner does everything humanly possible to make our three days the best ever! Monticello is a quaint small town, but has some nice restaurants.

Stayed 4 nights with our group of 50 sock knitters. Staff was very accommodating. Special offerings were available for restricted diets. We were very well fed with lunches and snacks every day. Manisha, her daughters and everyone on staff was very friendly.

We've stayed at this hotel several times in the past and I remember it being decent, but this last visit was disappointing. The staff is very kind and it appears they are trying their best with what they have, but this hotel will probably give you some "yuck" moments. Our room felt very damp and smelled of mildew. The carpet felt damp like maybe they had been cleaned and not dried. Sheets were fresh and smelled clean, but the pillows were so flat that it made it hard to sleep. The bathroom needed a deep clean. Appeared to be wiped down but there was so much crud in the corners and along the baseboard that it made it appear not very well-kept. Shower curtain had stains on it. Part of the window curtain was missing. The pool was clean but had only one functional light bulb in the whole area which gave it and eerie feeling. The deck is all torn up and weeds have totally filled in around the whole exterior. Overall just looks and feels run down. There were cookies and lemonade at the front and the breakfast was decent. Not likely that we'll stay again which is a bummer because it's one of the few hotels in the area.

Called them to book the room and the management did not inform us about the pool being out of order. Same price was charged. In my opinion a discount should have been given. Kiddos were very dissappointed!

This an older motel. We had reservations in advance but our rooms were not ready at 4:00 pm. They gave my daughter a different room but we had to wait while the room was cleaned. We were in the room while they cleaned it. Staff said the manager did not tell them the room was to be ready for guests. The cleaning staff apologized. The front desk attendant was short and rude upon check in, and subsequently when we went back to tell him our room was not cleaned also was rude.

Another wonderful weekend at the Best Western! I hosted a scrapbooking retreat for 38 in early June, and we had a wonderful time at the hotel. The manager and staff were highly attentive to our needs and everything ran smoothly. We've been coming here 2-3 times a year for the past 7-8 years and really appreciate all of the upgrades that have been made to the hotel. It's a very pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay.

My wife and I recently stayed at this location while in town for participation in a half marathon. We were treated with courtesy and respect by all the staff. Our room was top notch and we really enjoyed the continental breakfast included with our stay. However, it wasn't until after our weekend spent at this location when we discovered the care and dedication of the staff. I had lost a single key to our automobile that had apparently slipped out of my pocket which was later discovered by staff. Since I had left a message at check out of my unfortunate circumstance, staff followed up by calling me quickly so that I could rest at ease. Soon after this call I received an overnight package returning my lost item. It is not everyday that one gets to experience such dedication and thoughtfulness. I highly recommend the Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn!

Our stay here was fantastic! The lady in charge truly cares about her guests. She even went so far as to offer to get my wife special food at Walmart because of her food allergies! She clearly is instilling a great work ethic in her employees because they were all just as kind as she was during our stay!

We stayed for a friend's wedding. Upon check-in, the gentleman at the desk saw that I had paid with a gift card, asked for a credit card. I assumed it was in case of damages. Nope. He just charged my card for what I already paid for. Then he didn't know how to reverse it, so I had to make two additional trips down to the front desk the following day to talk to a manager to get it straightened out. On out third day, housekeeping didn't clean the room and I had to go to the front desk to get towels and additional trash bags. The gentleman at the front desk said that housekeeping doesn't go in if people were in the room. Um, we were gone all day for the wedding. Long story, short. Really nice hotel, but the quality of staff is lacking.

The Best Western was clean. It was very welcoming when walking in. The room was clean and ready for me when I arrived. The breakfasts were hot and ready and plenty. The ballroom was temperature controlled and comfortable. Manisha made sure we were taken care of and made sure that she checked on us several times during the weekend.

I organize and hold 4-day scrapbooking weekends for ~50 women twice a year at this hotel. Over the past few years, the hotel has been in the process of being completely remodeled with new carpeting, fresh paint, new furniture, tvs, linens, door locks, etc. It's reasonably priced, and the owner is responsive and very accommodating to our needs.

I stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights/4 days this past weekend with over 40 friends. The staff was friendly, kind, and very quick to provide great service with helping with the internet use, providling snacks, and all services.

I spend 75 nights a year in Hotels. This is the best all around place to stay. You are a short ride to all the noise of Champaign and 20 Minutes from the Decatur zoo. This hotel is set aside a nature area. It is also set off the interstate ( I 72) so it is quite, There is no road noise or traffic to see or smell. The rooms were clean, updated and comfortable. The staff is always pleasant and helpful.

Overall the hotel was very nice. Clean, modern decor and convenient location. The standard wifi signal was too weak to login in my room but they had VIPwifi with stronger signal but I didn't try it. I have a hotspot so I didn't ask for a fix

Manisha Patel and her professional staff have done a superior job of providing services ini preparation for my 21 month stay at this Best Western while I will be training for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. This Gateway Inn is a safe, clean place in which to live. Because I am a woman with severe blindness disability, I appreciateI being provided a spacious room close to the laundry and exercise rooms. To make my room feel like my home during my Journey for Gold extended stay, Manisha has provided me with many extras, including a one-person refrigerator, extra shelving, and a cubby wall unit so I am not surrounded by tubs of personal items. Located directly off the highway, Best Western is easy to find. The Red Wheel Restaurant, a favorite of local residents, is located next door. A gas station and a convenience store are located across the parking lot. This Best Western experience offers many more amenities. Because blindness prevents me from having a driver's license, Manisha helped me contact Piattran Shuttle to make arrangements for transportation. Oh, I must not forget to mention the large meeting room and the huge, clean swimming pool! Daily breakfast meals provide delicious hot and cold selections with enough choices to satisfy hungry travelers and extended-stay residents. I have no complaints about any aspect of the services I am receiving at Best Western, I am thankful for the gracious hospitality I have felt from Manisha and every member of her staff, the warm, family feeling I am experiencing, and the friendships being formed which will last a lifetime. Travelers, Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn is a perfect place to stay!

This Best Western was far enough off the road that it's really quiet. There is a restaurant on the other side of the parking lot and a gas station/convenience store across the street in case you're hungry, you can walk to either. The bed was comfy, but I found the bedding thin. If you ask for a room on the backside of the hotel you'll gaze upon a pond and there were doors taking you to a deck out that way. More outlets in the room would be best. Breakfast was standard fair. I loved that they had Activia yogurt. I didn't like that the butter was all refrigerated and impossible to use on toast or waffles. Friendly staff who recommended a downtown restaurant - Three Ravens. I love any hotel that doesn't recommend national chains.

The hotel is not a new building, but don't let that keep you from staying! The lobby was clean and bright with a small sitting area that was newly remodeled. The woman at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful as I checked in. I had questions about the accessible rooms, and she described exactly what the room offered someone using a wheelchair. I have been to hotels where the staff did not know what the accessible rooms looked like, so I really appreciated her exact description.The room was a nice size. It was clean and updated. Not fancy, but nice.We did not have time to use the pool, but it was nice and quite large for a hotel of its size. The breakfast area was clean and newly remodeled and offered a variety of options.I would definitely stay there again.

This was our second wonderful stay at this hotel. We came with the family for the Polar Express. Check in was easy and pleasant with the kind owner. She was able to quickly get us the adjoining rooms we desired. She provided all 4 kids in our group with goodie bags full of juice, snacks and cards to play with. She asked when we would return to ensure the kids had cookies after the train ride. The pool was large and fun for them. Rooms were nice with fridge, microwave and coffee. Breakfast was decent with normal contential fare. Overall, it made for a great trip with lots of fun for all and great memories made. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The desk staff was so nice. Let us have a late checkout at 1:00 PM and while having a meeting in the breakfast room, at lunchtime the manager offered us a free meat and cheese tray. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.

From the moment I called this motel to make reservations (and find out about arranging a block of rooms for others coming to a nearby conference), I felt good about this trip. Hotel staff are friendly, funny, caring and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, with the best smelling shampoo I've ever used, nice fluffy towels, comfortable bed and lots of pillows. I have stayed in a lot of places over the years and this Best Western just topped the list with one exception: breakfast options. Standard breakfast fare. But there is a very nice restaurant right next door that served one of the best omelets I've eaten in years. This was a wonderful, welcoming place to stay.

We stopped here as in the middle of a long road trip needing a quiet, safe, family friendly place to stay. It was all of that and more. The room was big, clean, and reasonably priced. The bed was comfortable with a lot of pillows. The pool was big and clean. Breakfast was great and the staff was friendly, helpful, and kind.

Vary clean nice rooms comfortable beds . Love the continental breakfast . pool is nice. Staff members are always polite and courteous. I stay here at least 4 times a year. Never had a problem. Won't stay anywhere else.

Very nice people, very helpful when I forgot my phone charger there. They were able to find it and they even mailed it back to me. Can't wait to stay there again for our family reunion. Very clean and our kids love the pool.

Awsome service and the cleanest hotel ive been in a long time frindley service and courteous staff. And they catered to us like family. The pool was open and area kept spotless. Plenty of towles in the room.

The surrounding is quiet with a wonderful view of a lake next to the hotel. There was a religious festival that I attended and stayed for 3 days that were amazing. Good rooms, plenty of space, and overall, a good place to gather up with your friends and family. :)

I have stayed at this motel numerous times over a 10 yr period, seen many cosmetic and comfort improvements, albeit done at a slow pace, and know this place for its expected quality and willingness to correct any problems arising. Will stay here again without question, particularly on nights when rates are good. The pool is a plus for anyone who wants to actually swim and exercise. Breakfast offerings could be better but was quite satisfactory for my needs.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. I read the good reviews and thought it was going to be a nice place to stay, but it was terrible! It takes a lot of bad things for me to write a bad review but I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel. I'm not sure if it's because it was a pet room but it was very dirty. The door was broken and I couldn't get back in the room. The poor girl at the desk felt bad because she couldn't get a hold of the owner or the maintenance guy. But she was absolutely amazing! They should be glad they have a great staff. The town is beautiful would love to come back and visit but would never stay at this hotel again.

This was a great facility. TV, coffee pot, microwave, frig, heated pool. Breakfast was not just frozen items you heat up there was hot food, eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles, cereal and an assortment of breads. I would most definitely stay here again

Stayed 5 days with a large group for a conference and the accommodations were great. The manager was super accommodating and the staff professional, friendly and very helpful. This is my 4th stay and definitely the best can't wait to come back next year.

I stayed 3 nights for a convention held at the hotel. The room was very comfortable and kept clean daily,the pillows were awsum looking for some for home. The owner went above and beyond to cater to every want and need of the convention. She is truly a credit to the Best Western name. I will be staying there every time I am in that location. This is an outstanding property. You are treated as a guest should be, not like just another body filling a bed. The place is clean and comfortable. The rooms are very nice. The meeting room is large and flexible for any type of meeting. The pool is clean. The property is maintained very well. You can tell the staff cares about your stay and making it as pleasant as possible.

I strongly recommend this hotel! The interior is clean, comfortable, and homey. The rooms are large. You can really stretch out. There is a huge indoor pool and a nice fitness center/ exercise room. We stayed here for 3 nights when our pipes froze...we only live 3 miles from the hotel. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to bring our dog with a small pet fee. The rooms were clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. I would stay here again.

Everything about my stay in the Gateway Inn was great. Staff was friendly and very helpful, Breakfast was hot and fresh, and I needed a late checkout to get some things ready for my travel and they gave it to me without issue.

My family and extended family had a wonderful 4 night stay at the BW in Monticello. The staff and management treated us like family and the breakfast was delicious. It's hard to beat the large heated pool for a workout during cold weather months.

This hotel was well worth the stay! The cost of the room was extremely reasonable and the rooms are large and clean. The staff was excellent and always available; night or day! There was a wonderful FREE breakfast each day, where the food was varied and tasty! We highly recommend this place for families as there is a large INDOOR pool!!

This hotel is the only game in town but a lovely addition to the community. It is not fancy, but they have made some lovely improvements. New carpet is the first thing......so much nicer than the burgundy carpet that had been around for decades. They are also working through upgrading bathrooms and decor in the rooms. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvements that had been made since our last stay 3 years ago. They also have the typical "hotel" breakfast, but it is substantial and filling for those traveling. And again, I can not speak highly enough about the staff person behind the check in desk that helped me find the right room and accommodation for my family coming to celebrate my father's life. Thank you Monticello Best Western.

Have stayed here multiple nights over more than a decade. Always seems something is being updated. 3 night stay this time. 1st night in a nonfunctional Jacuzzi room but was switched to regular room. Clean, comfortable, satisfactory. Breakfast bar 1st morn. not satisfactory but next 2 days ok. Better bread offerings would help. Swimming pool is big enough to actually exercise in but unfortunately was out of order.

I was very happy to stay at this hotel during a conference. It is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and it was ok. The rate is also very reasonable. I highly recommend it.

I have stayed at this motel many times over the past 20 years. It is reasonably priced, clean, and staff is friendly. Hotel has a nice indoor pool. it also provides a full complimentary breakfast all week. It is not fancy, but is well priced for what you get.

Ceiling tiles in the hallway were falling out and hanging down, The door to the room wouldn't close right, there was a huge gap around the edge that let in noise and light. A door from a renovation was stored in the room that we had to carry into the hall. It stayed there for 2 days. The sink drain was rusty. The breakfast was very limited and not fresh. The waffle batter was tainted and nasty..had to throw away the waffle.

Love this hotel...it's clean, quiet, and economical! The staff is friendly and welcoming! I travel to Monticello often and this is the only hotel i will stay at in the area. The customer service at the other hotels in Decatur and Champaign Urbana is non-existant!!

Warm and friendly staff- efficient, too. Personal attention and foods provided. Huge well maintained pool a big plus for me. LOVELY view of water from one side of motel --peaceful and relaxing . Out door decks to enjoy the early fall weather. Everything one could ask for in the very clean rooms. Nice to stay outside in this very charming place== a slice of Americana. The motel owner, Menisha ,and family and staff , very accommodating.

The Inn is a very comfortable, no-frills experience with a nice creek behind to while time by. They also serve some South Indian dishes for breakfast, which was a very welcome surprise! Overall I would recommend this place for a stay. The only downside is that there are no good restaurants within walking distance.

Had to stay here. Nothing else available when booking a room for the Ilinois game. Dirty room, outside door wasn't secure. Room smelled. Nothing at breakfast was gluten free. Coffee tasted old. Fruit was over ripe. Our room was full of cob webs

The Best Western in Monticello is an excellent hotel. It has 24/7 coffee and a pool large enough for lap swimming. The rooms are comfortable and clean. It is walking distance from the Monticello Railway museum, which is very much worth seeing.

This hotel is located in a safe area right off the interstate with easy access. Located in a great small town with quaint shops and places to eat. Great staff who are very friendly. This is a very basic hotel. Some updates have been made (new carpet, bedding, drapes, but needs more.

Why am i writing a review of a motel 95% of readers will never have cause to visit? The reason is this hotel was so terrible I want to alert the other 5%. 1. The door on my room was broken so would not lock, 2. The free "breakfast" was awful. Juices and coffee tasted like flavored water. 3. The sausage tasted like something you never tasted before, and the so-called eggs were flat, round discs. No one ever appeared to refresh this vile combination. 4. Some of my associates could not get the free wi-fi in their room. 5. I tried to call a colleague in the hotel only to be told "our phone system does not allow this". She had to call them to call me. Turns out they had the wrong room for my friend so could not find him. 6. While I was trying to get a new room with a working lock, the very pleasant desk clerk suddenly reached below and pulled up her baby. I have no objections to cute babies, but does not say much for professionalism of the training the owner provides. AVOID this motel!!

We had a lot of people staying this past weekend and the staff was always so kind and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned everyday so when we got back from the long day we came back to a clean fresh smelling room.

We enjoyed our stay at the motel everyone was very friendly and the service was excellent, the rooms were very clean and nice. We will always use this motel when in the area and highly recommend it. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made our stay pleasurable.

We had to pay the price since our grandson was being married there but there were no other competitive hotels in the area. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The indoor pool was very nice but could have been heated better. Skip the breakfast because it wasn't good but nice restaurant next door.

This hotel welcomed over 90 people from our family to Monticello, IL. Not only did they put out special treats for them every night, they also allowed their banquet facility to be a reserve in case of rain for the whole weekend. Part of our event was out at lovely Allerton Park and the hotel provided maps for our family members to follow. They also gave wonderful directions to Monarch Brewing Company. Breakfast in the AM was lovely and the extra large pool was great for kids to play! We couldn't have asked for better hospitality and welcome for our guests. All raved about the positive experience and welcome. Thank you Best Western Monticello!!!

Excellent staff and rates for a hotel in a peaceful and clean area. Quality attractions nearby. Easy access to interstate 72 and gas station across street. Restaurant next door. Staff is very much ready to help with anything. The hotel is definitely a guest pleaser.

Stayed for 8 nights - room was only cleaned 5 days - ac didn't work very well - breakfast milk was sour 2 mornings - credit card was double charged upon check out - and paid $200 a night I understand I was in the area for a large convention and prices go up but if you are going to charge $200 improve the service.

We spent one night at this hotel. Room was very nice, clean and breakfast was great. Front desk was very helpful and provided an upgrade. We were traveling on motorcycles and they let us park them under the front canopy which we very much appreciated. The location was perfect and just off the highway. We would definitely stay there again.

Continues to be a wonderful place to stay. Staff is very good and facilities are in very good shape. Location is a definite plus. Quiet, opens spaces. Easy access to freeway. A few miles out of the way, but worth it.

Our stay here was wonderful. The hotel is very nice and clean. The breakfast was very good and fresh with a lot of selections for every type of eater. The pool area was always neat and tidy. The conference room was perfect for our group. We will most definitely stay here again any chance we get.

Place was dirty and breakfast was not up to par. Place is small and should be no reason that the hallways aren't picked up and kept clean. Dirty pillows behind the couch, iron didn't work, and a toilet paper roll sitting on the desk for some reason upon entering our room.

Hotel room was clean and staff was personable. Did not use pool. Good value for price. However, I would have given five stars except for "surprise" I found in the dining area. I was eating my food, and near the table on the floor was "dog business" (that's all I will say!). Unfortunately, nobody was working in the breakfast area to notify, so I went to front desk to let them know. Instead of girl being apologetic and professional I got a laugh and an "oh well". I know people stay at hotels w/dogs and "accidents" happen (guest should have cleaned it up), but if the guest didn't then it should be a worker's responsibility. I did notice later when checking out that the same girl coincidentally had a dog in back office w/her. I didn't appreciate the response to my complain at all. Be professional!

Everything in the hotel was the way you would expect it. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast exceeded our expectations, the pool was huge and clean. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Work through out the mid-west. Have stayed in many hotels. Never have I been treated with such personal care. Manisha is a gem. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was good. Hotel grounds are quiet with a great view out back.

Place is under renovation - which is well past do for a makeover. Room was marginally adequate. Breakfast should offer fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas). Dining area did look OK but you need more to offer than biscuits and gravy.

Kept having issues with the keys working and front desk acted as thought it was my fault. Reserved king bed room and they gave me a queen suite when I mentioned this to front desk man told me I had a pull out. I DIDN"T WANT A PULL OUT COUCH or I would have requested a suite to get that .

From check - in, to housekeeping, to a hand-on Owner who clearly cares about their and guest's well-being there were a lot of surprising small touches. Thoughtful, attentive staff who are really work as a team and seem to love working here. When my son had a stomach ache, they offered to give us a lift to the supermarket. Cold, bottled water up front.

I was at this hotel for a class as the instructor. The attention we received from the staff was exceptional. Lunches were provided and delicious. The pool is large and clean. I felt like I was home. I recommend this hotel for conferences and personal stays. You won't be disappointed.

It is very convenient to have space to have meetings in the same place where one is staying. The facilities here are excellent and accomodating to varied activities. Breakfast is available and lunch can be provided. I was very pleased with the venue and would highly recommend it.

This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff comfortable rooms and Nice amenities. They have the largest hotel pool I have ever seen. that was a big plus for me. Breakfast was terrific they have something special most days the first day I stayed it was biscuits and gravy And the another day it was really delicious breakfast Burritos and bread pudding. And of course waffles were an option each morning!

Stopped after a long day and the staff was great!! Excellent newly updated room. Comfortable beds. Nice breakfast in the morning. Will definitely be coming back when in the area. I highly recommend staying here to other traveler's.

The Manager, Manisha Patel, was awesome. As soon as we arrived she asked if we were in town for the marathon. She made sure we had everything we needed for breakfast, even had extra water and snacks for us to take on race morning. And she opened up the breakfast area at 4:30 in the morning to accommodate the runners. Not too many hotels go above and beyond like she did. The room and entire hotel atmosphere was great. It made our stay wonderful. So thankful that we stayed at this Best western.

About 15 minutes from Champaign along the I-74. Clean and comfortable rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good wifi connection. Breakfast had a choice of hot and cold foods as well as a selection of gluten free choices. Would recommend this place.

Second time here. A little wear and tear, but cheerful staff, beautiful landscape made up for it. Quiet surroundings allowed for relaxing evening. Sunday morning breakfast was not as special because I hoped for a breakfast selection including meat, not a casserole.

We stayed at the Best Western in Monticello because it was Mother's weekend and all of the hotels in Champaign Urbana were sold out. It was about 25-30 away so that was a bit inconvenient for visiting the University of Illinois, especially on the drive back at night. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I appreciate the working desk, that was useful. I gave this property a 3 review because it was under construction and there was no notification of that except for missing ceiling tiles or at the end of the hall, there were construction items. I would caution families of young children to wait a couple of months before taking your children. It does have a indoor pool and a breakfast - the standard hotel breakfast. Also, this location is fairly isolated so not a lot of options for lunch other than the Mobil Gas Station or the restaurant next door (that looked empty with an open sign) at lunch.

My sister and I stayed one night to run a race the next day. The walls were a bit thin as there was a crying child in the next room, but not terribly disturbing. The room was clean, with refrigerator and microwave. It looked as though remodeling was happening in part of the hotel. The room came with breakfast which had your usual offerings of cereal, bagels, etc... but also waffles, biscuits and gravy. The room was more expensive than what I usually spend, especially since I have stayed here in the past. However, there is not really any competition in this small town.

We have stayed in this hotel at least 7 times. It is a home away from home for us when visiting relatives in the area. Highly recommended! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Many improvements being done.

Hotel was very nice. Newly renovated and the staff was super nice and attentive. Bed was very comfortable! Would stay there again. Was there for a women's retreat and the hotel was very easy to work with as the retreat was planned. Owner even provided food for our group as a thank you to us. Very unexpected and indicative of their commitment to the customer experience.

We held our annual church women's retreat at this hotel. It was fabulous! The rooms were very nice and recently updated. The meeting rooms were spacious and recently updated as well. The facility was very clean and well kept. And, I can't say enough about the generosity of the staff! They were very helpful and made sure we had all of our needs met. It was a great weekend!

Very nice place to have a reception. We were able to accomodate approximately 150 people comfortably. The banquet room was newly remodeled. Minisha and her staff were extremely helpful throughout the set up. Whether it be a forgotten item or one that just didn't work, Minisha was very creative in finding a solution. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I have been staying at this location on area visits over the last five years. The facility has been undergoing upgrades. The ownership and staff are very accommodating and reflect small town warmth. Try an odd numbered room for water and wooded view as well as morning sun. This location is a wonderful alternative to more costly and impersonal facilities in Champaign. Also Monticello has good dining and some unique visit stops (Allerton Park, Monticello Railway Museum). All very family, pet friendly at affordable prices. Prices may vary during area special events.

I wanted to take my son somewhere for his 16th birthday. And he requested Internet , a pool, and movie channels. We got it all. We had 2 breakfasts during our stay and it was excellent. There was so much to pick from and it all tasted great.

I stayed for 2 nights and it was very comfortable. I love the new transformations of the rooms and the lobby. The morning breakfast is so much better than before. I will stay again and tell my friends how comfortable I was during this stay!

My stay at the Best Western was one of pure elation! My day started off with a friendly smile from the staff and an excellently crafted waffle from the continental breakfast. I cannot say enough about the Best Western and it's well kept rooms and very comfortable beds! 10/10 would stay here again!

I stayed at the Best Western in Monticello, Illinois in September of 2016. All I can say is I am impressed with the hotel and the staff. The rooms are all completely redone and the housekeeping staff works very hard to keep them clean. The manager of the hotel does a great job ensuring that each guest has an excellent stay. They also have the largest indoor pool of any hotel I have ever stayed at. The hotel has a laundry room for guest and is conveniently located within close range to numerous area restaurants,

My family and I stayed after a high school football game. The hotel was easy to find and the gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and efficient. The hotel room was clean and quiet. There was a gas station and restaurant next to the hotel which I thought was very convenient.

I've attend scrapbook retreats at this hotel for several years, and it's always been great. They've always done a great job of accommodating our needs, and the recent remodeling is a plus, as well. Clean, quiet, good breakfast.

I've been hosting scrapbooking retreats at the Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn for the past five years. We use this hotel twice a year, and between 40-50 women attend the weekend events. We've stayed at other venues in the past but have found this hotel to be the perfect spot for us. Manisha and her staff are attentive, the banquet room is perfect for our needs, the guest rooms are clean and comfortable, and the price is reasonable. We appreciate all of the up-dates that have been done over the past year. The new carpeting, paint, furniture and decor throughout the hotel are fresh, beautiful and trendy. The remodeled breakfast room and up-graded breakfasts are a nice addition. I highly recommend this hotel for a similar event or just for an over-night stay.

Accomadating staff. Lovely remodel (they were in midst of remodeling during last year's retreat). The only improvement I would like would be better lighting in the lounge area for reading. Will return for these retreats (bi-annual) for years to come.

A group of women have been coming to this hotel twice a year for at least 5 years now. This hotel is always making improvements and the service is excellent. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Most recently they have updated the room tvs, the breakfast area and the conference rooms. New carpet thru out. Nice pool too!

The motel is clean, decorated well and the rooms are are newly remodeled. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. I and my scrapbooking friends have been choosing this Best Western for our retreat weekends twice a year for 5 years. It is a great place to stay!

Had business in Champaign Urbana and stayed a few miles away here. Was an excellent stay from top to bottom. I am traveling 25 weeks a year and this property a staff were on point. Rarely in facilities such as this is the property so clean and staff so responsive. Highly recommended.

I held my wedding and reception at the Best Western in Monticello. The banquet room was large and spacious, the buffet was set up in the dinning area, and there is a beautiful wood deck off the back of the hotel that we utilized for photos. The hotel had just been renovated as well, new carpets, new linens, new rooms and bed. Absolutely perfect for our wedding day. We were able to reserve a block of rooms and obtain a great discounted price for our guests. I would highly recommend this hotel for you banquet and hotel needs.

This gem is easily accessible from I-72 between Champaign, IL and Decatur, IL. It is a lovely hotel completely renovated, with friendly staff, and comfortable accommodations. I attend a conference here every year to scrapbook with a large group of crafters. I love the new furniture and carpet colors throughout the hotel. The staff is always helpful and friendly. My favorite part is the huge back deck by the pool center. I sit out there and enjoy the sun while gazing at the beautiful wooded area behind. I 100% recommend this hotel.

My room faced the river which was lovely on a fall day. Great facility - excellent accommodations. We came here for a scrapbooking retreat and it was wonderful. The rooms are clean and the food is excellent. I love all the updates. Also just a quick jaunt to downtown or into Champaign-Urbana.

My husband and I stayed this past weekend to attend a family wedding, It was a very busy time for the staff as the wedding reception was also held here. The staff was very inviting and accommodating. We arrived several hours before normal check in time & were able to check into our room. It was well appointed and very comfortable! We enjoyed having a small fridge and a microwave in the room. It appears as if there are some repairs and changes going on, however they didn't bother us at all. Manisha, the manager, was wonderful! She had someone in training, and was very patient with them while working through a process. That speaks volumes to me. To be so very busy with a full hotel, a wedding reception, and still take time to gently guide her new employee. We will certainly stay here again when we come down for visits, I am also pleased to know that the are pet friendly! Did I mention a great breakfast was included? It was just what we needed! Looking forward to next time & seeing all the updates!

Reserved a block of 18 rooms at the Monticello Gateway Best Western and the staff did a fantastic job hosting. It appears the recently updated the rooms and are very nice. The staff worked very well to assist our large group with meals and space to gather at the hotel.

The price is fair and we would definitely come back. Manisha, the owner, is wonderful. You can tell she cares about her guests and wants to make sure you enjoy your stay. Checking in was effortless and our room was clean. The pool looked inviting, but we didn't have a chance to check it out. Breakfast was good with the usual choices and a few less common things like cheesy hash browns, cut. Fresh fruit including strawberries and watermelon, breakfast and granola bars, a few different brands of yogurt including gogurt, and almond soy vanilla and chocolate. We're really big on customer service and we would come back to support someone who takes pride in her business.

The room was clean and spacious, the location was great (close enough to my conference venue; they had a shuttle to the venue), the breakfast was good and filling. Most importantly, the staff at the hotel was absolutely amazing- they were extremely friendly and very very helpful! The only downside is that since the location (Monticello) is somewhat remote, you don't get uber/taxis here- so if you wish to go around, you would need to have a car.

During my recent visit to the Monticello Best Western I noticed many improvements from past visits. They have expanded their breakfast items which was a nice surprise. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating.

The check in process was swift and the front desk was very courteous. The hotel has recently been remodeled and you can tell. The carpets are clean and fresh and look very well kept. The halls are well lit and clean. Our room was just a queen bed for me and my girlfriend. New furniture in the room and very clean. The only thing I could see wrong was the hotel must be re-doing the trim in the room since it was a visual the old trim had been ripped out. Not a big deal just aesthetics. Overall a very comfortable stay, I'd recommend you stay here, good room for the price.

Upon checking in even though I asked for a quiet room near the door I got s noisy room across from the front desk. Room 107. We had two small dogs and were attending a wedding at Allerton. Because the room was in the center of all the noise and traffic our dogs were barking. After traveling hours to get here and destroying my Labor Day weekend we had to leave the wedding after 2 hours. If they had tried to accommodate us we could have stayed at this wedding!! In addition this room was so noisy we could not sleep. I was very upset and this not only sours my feelings on a Best Western I would never consider having a wedding or gathering at Allerton.

I was Looking for motel just off the highway. This was a Clean spacious motel with helpful staff and very large indoor pool. Excellent value The back of the motel looks over a pretty river. Beautiful small town with lovely courthouse and chimes playing on the hour. Small restaurant and a DQ on the square

Although some people might be put off by some minor details with their current renovation, I found the hotel very comfortable. The staff was outgoing and most accommodating. I have stayed there before with grandkids. Nice indoor pool. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is fine but the bed is too soft. I need a firm bed. The toilet is too close to the floor, I prefer a taller toilet. Other than those things the hotel was fine. Staff was very helpful. Very clean room. Please, a firmer bed and taller toilet next time.

I stayed here last month with my husband, 11 month old daughter, sister, and parents. This is really the only option in town when visiting family in Monticello, which is a shame. The good things about the place are the wifi and free breakfast. The rest leaves something to be desired. The rooms were newly renovated but it seemed cosmetic. There was a door to the outside in our room and there was a gap between the floor and door that required a towel to be shoved in there to prevent hot air and bugs from coming in. All of our rooms felt humid no matter how low you put the air. There were also dead bugs in our rooms. When I made the reservation I specifically asked for adjoining rooms so I could put the baby to sleep but still be close until I went to bed. I was assured I would get that but when I checked in that was not the room I had, the associate remembered making my reservation and told me adjoining meant side by side but not necessarily having a door. It took about 10 minutes to find rooms that actually had a door between them. We also used the pool and it appeared dirty (clumps of hair matted to the bottom). Once my daughter gets older and doesn't need to go back to the hotel for frequent naps we will be staying at a hotel that isn't in Monticello.

We recently had our daughter's wedding reception at the Best Western - Monticello. The staff was very helpful, and the facility was superb. All of our guests greatly appreciated the location, the banquet hall, and the rooms, and also the extra large indoor swimming pool. We had two caterers provide meals, which was a hit with our guests. Thank You, Best Western for your service before, during, and after our reception, you guys were great to work with.

The staff at this hotel will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They are really friendly and want to help in any way they can. The hotel was under renovation and they kept apologizing that everything wasn't perfect yet. They offered free cold water bottles when we left to go for the day and when we returned. It was a wonderful experience.

This was once a pristine hotel. It is the only national brand available in Monticello, IL, so they pretty much have the local market cornered. My room was just OK, but the TV was broken and had to go thru the hassle of moving everything late at night. Breakfast was mediocre. The scrambled eggs were some terrible conoction of reconstituted dry powder and had an unappealing granular texture. The waffles were good, however.

Excellent location, classrooms good size and lightning. Service admirable.Lunches were provided. Directions to local restaurants and tourist sites were concise and accurate. We've had our classes here for two years. We hope to finish the last four levels of the course here as well.

We had a class/ retreat here and the treated us so well!!! The room was nice and clean....so was the room we used for the event. The hotel is close to town and has a gas station right across the street All around great experience. We will be back for years to come

Attending a convention for four days in this hotel the management was so attentive to our needs, accommodating and flexible to everything we needed on the spur of the moment. The catered meals were outstanding and the rooms were cleaned very well every day. The new carpeting throughout added to our enjoyment and our group hopes to return to this hotel for many years to come.

This is my 3rd time attending an annual craft retreat at this hotel. The staff is excellent and makes sure we have everything we need. This year they are upgrading. there is new carpet and furnishings. It looks great.

I have stayed at this establishment many times over the past ten years due to family in the area. It has always been a quiet place to retreat to. The hotel is set again a beautiful tree setting and has great decks out back to find retreat in. There is also a huge pool to relax in! The hotel has been updated and looks the best I have ever seen. I was co chair of our retreat this year and was simply amazed at the service and friendliness of the manager and her staff. Everything we asked for was provided cheerfully. If we wanted tables on the patio we got tables on the patio. Snacks and lunches brought in. Our comfort was the managers first priority. We plan to use this facility for our retreat again and again

The room was amazingly clean...under the bed, behind the furniture, every crook and cranny!Even the air conditioner/heating unit filter was spotless! The staff was helpful and courteous and went above and beyond! Best yet, the price was right! I have paid more for far less!

I have been a local in the area my whole life. The Gateway Inn has been more than accommodating for my family. I recently attended a function in the banquet room and was blown away by all of the renovations in the last year or so. All new carpet and fresh paint. The staff is always so helpful and personable. This hotel has such a "home-y" feel.

Me and my friends came over to visit family so we found ourselves staying at this hotel we noticed they had a really nice pool and went swimming for a couple of hours staff was really nice rooms were updated and really nice finally breakfast was fantastic.

First of all, my rate, after taxes was $116/night, and this was not worth that at all. If you're paying $60-70, then this would be OK. The service was excellent, although my interactions were limited, I only stayed one night. The room we received had missing floor trim boards and the glue was exposed. There was a HEAVY chemical smell, most likely from new carpeting, but it was difficult to sit in there with that smell. The shower curtain was filthy, with black stains on it and the shower made a horrible screeching sound when the water ran. The breakfast area was so warm that it was uncomfortable and we ate in our room, however, the food quality offered at breakfast was one of the worst I've seen. My kids wouldn't eat any of it, the muffins were extremely stale, the bagels were so hard you could use them as a hammer, and there was no water available to drink. The swimming pool is perhaps the largest I've seen for an indoor pool but it is FREEZING!! I was unable to go in because it was just too cold. I also was uncomfortable sitting in the pool area while my kids swam due to the humidity and heat in the pool area. The elevator was SO hot that it was hard to breathe, and we didn't use it due to that. The pros, again, the service and the beds were comfortable but I feel really ripped off being charged $116 for this room. REALLY ripped off.

We stayed here over night and enjoyed the hotel. Our room was cleans and everything worked fine for us. The beds was clean as well as the floor. ( I wore white socks and they stayed clean on the dark carpeted floor). The breakfast was good, It's not a sit down full breakfast but you had your choice of hot and cold food. This hotel may not be a 5 star high -end with a door man greeting you at the door but you will feel safe and comfortable at this location.

Messages will not be returned but the staff will lie to you or else management lies either way do nit expect a return call

Almost 24 hours traveling and no where to stop last minute at a reasonable rate due to it being the weekend of the NASCAR 500 race in Minneapolis.This was the only place that had space available. Despite being under renovation, the staff was very pleasant and the beds were really comfortable.

Well run and well maintained hotel in this small town with few hotel choices. Better than staying in Champaign and having to drive 30 minutes each way to and from your hotel. Good restaurant next door to the hotel.

Stayed at the Best Western for the first time and what a great surprise this hotel was. The breakfast was great, lots of variety and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms looked renovated and the beds were very comfortable. I will definitely be back.

I first off have to say that staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable. Most of the time during my stay I would find a group of them outside in front smoking. The rooms were ok and beds were comfortable. I had both Friday and Saturday booked but cancelled Saturday due to the price being 30.00 higher on Saturday. I hope another hotel will come in the area and give them some competition. I payed close to the same rate that I pay in some upscale hotels. The breakfast was nothing to brag about. Small white pancakes that were pit in a crockpot and anemic looking sausage patties. Coffee was good and they had cold cereal. Not sure I would stay here and pay that price again.

Recently renovated and it is a very neutral modern decor, comfortable beds , huge indoor pool, nice variety of breakfast food, friendly staff and safe area to stay. We will definitely stay there again when we visit in the fall.

I have stayed here numerous times over many years. When rates are low this is a very good deal for the price. Room was clean, adequately furnished, and comfortable but could have used an ofc chair at the writing table rather than a straight back chair. Motel always seems to be under renovation! Breakfast was neatly laid out but was only adequate, not exceptional. Large pool is a plus for anyone interested in actually using it for exercise. Will be back in area at least one more time this year and this place will be my 1st choice.

If not for being the only game in town. I would not return. Family lives here, so want to be close by. Have stayed problably 5-6 timers over the past few years. This place does not improve with age. Staff is foksy and tries. terribly expensice for the value. This should be in the $29-$39 range. I will be back, because I love my family. How ever I am pryare for other options.

When visiting family in the Monticello area we always stay at the Best Western. The beds have been upgraded since our last visit, as has the complimentary breakfast. The hotel has been going through rennovation and is looking really good.

For several years I have attended a weekend Creative Memories scrapbooking retreat at this Best Western in Monticello and have always enjoyed the the room, food and service. This year they have remodeled the lobby, banquet room and breakfast area. They have also added some hot food items to the selections each day which I enjoyed. My understanding is they are in the process of remodeling all their guest rooms as well. My room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past couple of years, most recently last weekend and I always find it comfortable. The new carpeting and paint in the common areas has upgraded those areas nicely. I understand the guest rooms will be upgraded soon too. The staff is friendly and welcoming. This is not a big city hotel but a comfortable, homey place to stay.

Since 2011, I have hosted a scrapbooking weekend retreat for ~50 women twice a year at this hotel. The banquet room was recently freshened with new carpet and new paint, and the breakfast room was also remodeled. A hot item was added to the complimentary breakfast, and an attendant kept the food replenished and the room clean. They are getting ready to remodel all of the guest rooms with new carpet and furniture. The room that I slept in was clean and comfortable, and I did not receive any complaints from the other 52 women in attendance. The owner and staff are always friendly and very accommodating to our needs.

We have stayed at this hotel several times before since it is in the town where my parents' assisted living facility is located. On each visit the condition seems to have deteriorated. The dust was so thick on the television stand you could write your name on it. The bathroom doorknob was falling out of the wood. There was dust everywhere and debris on the floor. If you suffer from asthma or allergies as I do, beware. On our last stay, we had to move housekeeping carts and painting supplies out of the elevator so that we could take our luggage up to the room. On one visit, the refrigerator smelled absolutely terrible, didn't work and it took them hours to change it out with one from an unoccupied room that actually worked. There is usually an odor in the facility, particularly in the warmer months. The quality of the breakfasts have declined as has the number of options. We have stayed at this Best Western six times in the past year and a half and each time the experience has been worse. The main reason we continued to give them or business was because the owner was nice enough to discount the 79 dollar per night rate because we had parents in the town's assisted living facility. We appreciated this, and continued to stay there and overlook the deteriorating conditions. This time we were told that she would no longer be offering any discount, which was unfortunate since our trip was due to a medical emergency with my father and we had no choice in making the trip. Although we were told this was due to the need for renovations, it would be nice if we were paying for them after they were done, not while they were being planned.We won't be going back.

This is the 4th year we have had our annual farm bureau fundraiser here and they did a wonderful job hosting. The room was freshly remodeled and the staff went above and beyond to help us out with anything we needed. I would highly recommend using this facility for your meeting needs.

Had an annual Farm Bureau meeting in the banquet hall. Room was freshly remodeled and looked nice. Restrooms were stocked and clean. Staff was friendly and I think everyone had a great time. I would suggest this hotel to any small group needing a place to host an event.

Staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. The rooms are well kept and very clean. The bathroom were clean and there was plenty of room for my kids to watch TV. The continental breakfast had a lot of choices and was delicious compared to most continental breakfast as other places. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area. I would not recommend staying at Allerton mansion, this hotel is cleaner, service is excellent, and the staff is so nice!!

We stayed here the night before the wedding, and we had a fantastic experience. The employees were incredibly friendly and very helpful. We had trouble drying our laundry with the coin dryers, so they not only offered to dry our clothes for free with their machines, they also folded everything after. Highly recommend!

eh , hotel was ok except for not getting the room i had originally reserved . I have nothing else to say. staff friendly . hotel was being remodeled . breakfast was luke warm . this is annoying ! i don't get this !

Overall, this motel met all of our expectations. There was some confusion due to room renovations going on, but not a big deal. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our only complaint was that we signed up for express checkout and did not receive an email copy of our bill.

This is the second straight year that we have brought our high school wrestling team to this Best Western. We could not be more pleased. They have always offered to clean our uniforms and helped us with our evening meal. The pool is great and the rooms are very nice. We will continue to bring our teams here for years to come.

I checked out of this hotel today. This hotel has been going through some serious upgrades and is looking great! I reported a previous negative review because it was written by a disgruntled employee who has since been let go. I overheard her telling someone else that she wrote it. I spoke with an employee about it today and they said there hasn't been any guest stay there, with that name and that last initial. There really should be a way to weed out those people who are just out to be vindictive. That being said, Well done Monticello Best Western, I will be back again!

This is a no-frills Inn with clean comfortable rooms at a decent price. It appears that they are going through a renovation, which will be interesting to see after they are complete. There is a gas station/convenience store and a restaurant nearby within walking distance.

I stay here regularly for business. I can say if I had a choice I'd stay somewhere else. The rooms are rarely clean. I have had multiple times after I've gotten to my room where I've turned around, went back to the front desk, and asked for a different room. I walked into a room that had a disgusting white wash cloth on the bathroom floor that was black and red all over and looked like death. It makes me wonder if they actually clean the beds or just throw the blankets back on and make them look neat. They have been remodeling this place for at least six months. They will replace a lamp or a light fixture and then something else the next week instead of doing it all at once. After the guys have done some type of remodel in the room the cleaning people don't go back and clean again. They just rent out the room with it being dirty with obvious construction remnants all around. Dirt, dust, sometimes tools.... One of the rooms I was assigned had air conditoner/heater parts strung all over the place. The rates keep going up and up also. I'm paying over $20 more than when I first started staying here. The free wifi never actually works, it just keeps loading and loading. The front desk people are not very attentive and, most of them don't know what they are doing. One week a new person, that hadn't been there more than a month, was training another new person. The cleaning people obviously don't want to work very hard because of the lack of cleanliness. I believe this to be a direct reflection of the management. Which, the manager keeps desperately hounding me to write a review and, I've heard her asking other customers to write reviews also. So, a majority of these recent reviews are forced and probably not completely true.

We spent two nights at this hotel. there was only a few guests staying while we were there. (Christmas week). There is a rework going on at this property. The new carpet in Hall was beautiful. The breakfast was far below anything, I was expecting,but could understand with the low level of customers staying,at the property. Powered eggs are just not very appetizing. The property has a nice stream behind the building that provides a nice view.

The price has gone up and up at this hotel. The pool was not heated nor was the room it was in. This was not the first time the pool was cold. We will not be staying here again but rather at the Drury Inn just 20 or so minutes away in Champaign, IL where the pool is always heated. And for the $110 we paid, the cost won't be much more for a luxury hotel stay. This is your average hotel. Nothing fancy other than the price.

Very nice and clean hotel! Newly remodeled. Grandkids absolutely loved the pool area! The staff is very friendly and helpful! Totally recommend if you are staying in the Monticello/Champaign/Decatur area! Our company also uses this motel when in the area for business

I would like to personally thank the owner and manager for the kindness and cleanliness of our rooms. We have rented up to 10 rooms a night some weeks. We have stayed here building a local Church. I stay a motels all across the country and give a 10

Our room was large and very clean. The staff at this hotel was excellent, the rooms clean and comfortable. While I had to leave each morning before 6am, the breakfast staff went out of their way to ensure there was fresh hot coffee available. Unlike hotels i have stayed, they have a huge breakfast area with a variety of options for everyone. The room and bed was very comfortable. nice work station and area to sit and relax. The backside of the hotel borders a lake and forest preserve which provides for a quiet and soothing environment. The indoor pool was huge and adequately heated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Champaign or Decatur area.

Very clean motel, room newly redecorated, very nice. Staff was helpful with restaurants, things to do. Nice pool. The next time we stay here (which we will do again) we will bring our suits. For a small town, great motel. Lynn

Receptionist was very sweet and nice. Room, not so much. Dirty towel, hand soap open, cup of coffee on top of TV stand, empty used coffee cup on vanity, floor dirty, receipt left on end table. Room was not cleaned. They offered to move us, but was already in PJs. Wanted to move us upstairs, but my mother who uses a cane would have to walk all the way back to lobby to use elevator then walk way back down to room. They did reduce room rate, but not by much. Very noisy.

Bed and bedroom fine, breakfast awful. Scrambled eggs were almost gone, dry, and room was not set up well. Had to open cabinet drawers to find coffee cups. Utensils all spread out over 4 tables. Luckily the do it yourself waffles were ok.

I stayed at the Best Western Monticello Gateway Inn over a long weekend in September. The pool is amazing and huge! The breakfast was perfect and there were plenty of options. The rooms are spacious, clean, and updated! If you are traveling through or staying in the area consider this hotel in quaint Monticello. Maybe if your lucky the Sages will be playing and you can catch a game! If not there are plenty of great restaurants in town! Overall, I was very impressed and will be staying here from now on when I am in the Champaign Urbana area.

Very attractive and clean motel. Personnel were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stay here the next time we're in the area. Only negative is that the continental breakfast is very light. Uness you want waffles or oatmeal, there is nothing hot to eat...no eggs, sausage, etc, and minimal choice of muffins. On the plus side, there was coffee available in the breakfast room any time of day.

We were pleasantly surprised how nice this hotel was. It was under major renovation but the staff could not be more helpful and nice to us. I do understand the renovation process as it can make for some problems but overall this hotel was just perfect as far as we were concerned. Nice continental breakfast, and beds were good to sleep on and once again can't say enough about the staff offering to help with any needs. Great job! Connie from Iowa

Room was under construction. There were no baseboards in the room plus painters tape still on the walls. Rewards Rates online were not the rates I was given even though I am a rewards member, I was charged Base rate of 109 dollars. Hot breakfast is a joke at this place, the only thing hot was toast. We had to go to McDonalds after leaving to eat. Very disappointed in this hotel and staff in the morning was not very helpful at all when I expressed my concerns.

There was no electrical power available on one side of the room. This included the bed side lights. We were forced to turn off the entrance light then stumble in the dark over to the bed. Additionally I utilize a CPAP machine which I could not power unless I ran an extension cord form the bathroom all the way to my side of the bed. My wife who is an RN suggested to the clerk that we change room even offering to take a non king room. This suggestion was met with a blank stare and mumbling something about management would not allow something like this. The poor evening/night clerk was just a poor kid who obviously had no support from management as well as not enough training.
