Best Western Plus Gyldenlove Hotell

Nice old hotel with a good location, food was good quality. The room was nice and spacious, how ever the was a weird smell for the duration which could be due to the age of the building. Staff were friendly enough. I would recommended for any business trips.

Worst night since a long time. November Staff but got a room facing the a stadion and main street that was too hot to sleep in and no ventilation whatsoever.

Incompetent receptionist who thought we asked for rooms above each other and not opposite each other😂, no aircondition in the room, closed bar, empty minibar, tiny bathroom, TV not working, woken up by noisy seagulls at 5 am. The bed was good.

I spent 18 days in Best Western and I loved every minute of it. From the polite staff,to the quality of the food, to the cleanliness of the room, everything was just perfect. Great job. I would recommend staying here.

Hi I hate leaving a bad review so I will try to keep this positive. This is an oldish hotel. I thought it was a converted warehouse, but the folks at the desk said it was built as a hotel in 1951. I had a queen room, 204, on the second floor, to say it was small is an understatement. The queen bed pretty much filled up the room. It had sliding patio doors on to a tiny balcony that I didn't feel safe on, I'm sure it was safe but it was too tiny for me. The room faced the street and the train station. This did not bother me, I didn't think it was noisy at all, other people did. I had some maintenance issues in the room that were solved while I was at work. I can never understand how cleaning people can go in a room day after day and not see/notice/realize there is a maintenance issue and not report it. This seems to be an industry problem throughout the world. The folks at the desk were fantastic! So very nice. I didn't interact with the rest of the staff. General Norway observation. Everything is small, including the coffee cups and servings. I learned this last time and brought my own MUG and Folgers singles. There is an electric hot water pot in the room. Breakfast-standard hotel breakfast, nothing special especially after staying at another hotel in Kongsberg down the street that I will not name. Check in and check out was smooth. Items from previous guests found in wardrobe. There was no vegetarian option or children's option on the menu in the hotel, which is strange for a hotel which offers family rooms. The price charged for these meals were very high, although a small amount was refunded. The hotel staff eat their breakfast with the guests. This seems very unprofessional and I would think also poses hygiene issues. One lady was buttering her bread in her hand.Although my family room was pre-paid, they tried to charge me for an extra bed on checkout.

Hotel is conveniently located across the square from the train/bus station. Room is clean. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast is standard European breakfast fare. Trains and buses can be heard all night on the station side of the hotel if the window is open

Hotel seems nice, friendly staff. Got room 400 on top floor, room was clean and good WiFi. Only thing missing is AC in the room but windows can be opened so its okay. Breakfast was very nice with good selections. Avocado was a nice touch. Parking was included and we were lucky to find the last spot. Its on street level, so could have been better but hoyel is in sentrum so its difficult I guess. We had a nice one night stay.

Stayed for a couple of nights on business. Hotel is right beside the station in the town centre so couldn't be better located. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. I slept very well both nights. The restaurant was great too. Wi-fi was fantastic and included in the price.

It's a small town with only 2 major hotel so book in advance because there maybe no availability. Hotel was ok but a bit dark and getting tired. It's furthest from train station but you can easily walk even in winter with a suitcase.

Kongsberg is a small, but very international town in beautiful surroundings. Gyldenløve is a great place to stay, close to the train station and to the beautiful center. The hotel is comfortable, cosy, with pleasent staff. Very homely. I love to stay there.

We were done with a 450km bike trip with 220km in continusly heavy rain. Arriving and went directly to room (not iaw standard, first beer always in leathers) and a warm shower. Not that spacious single-room but managed. Luckily I am not the biggest biker around; because the shower was cramped, with worn out and leaking shower head. The water was spraying all over and some hit me, so I managed to heat up. Had a GT and a beer at the bar. Nice place. But as info; the lime in the GT is green not yellow and taste like a lemon. The bed in my room was "too much" single-bed but OK. Rooms of good noise insulation (good Norwegian standard). Breakfast was busy but good selection. Good waffles and coffee. Nice staff.

We git a nice room on the second floor for our stay in Kongsberg. The room was clean and comfortable. The dinner in the restsurant was well cooked and very tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful. One minus our room was above the outside smoking area which meant we could smell smoke in our room when the window was open (a/c) was non existant i.e. ooen window.

Stopped here at the end of June. Opposite the railway station, literally a 40 second walk! The railway is very good, Oslo airport to Kongsberg takes around an hour and forty minutes and is real smooth with lots of scenery to gaze at from the windows. Hotel has everything you need and rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very nice and is in a pleasant setting. Kongsberg is a quiet town but has some lovely walks and stunning scenery. Bar prices are truly eye watering - £10 for 0.4L beer @0.93-£1!! Would definetly return to this hotel and all staff were very friendly and polite.

I went to this hotel several times for business trips. It is well located near the train station The rooms are large and comfortable The breakfast is good with lot of choices. It is possible to have dinner in the restaurant The team is nice.

Travelling through & needed a stopover. Chose this Hotel & glad we did. Staff were helpful & nice to deal with. Large room and very clean. Finally a Hotel with tea/coffee in the room. Breakfast was part of deal & thoroughly enjoyable. Obviously been around for a while & maybe looking well worn, but still a very pleasant stop. Walk to train/shops & town...

There were only two hotels to choose from in this small town, so I went with the one that had more positive reviews. I'm glad I did. The rooms were large and newly updated, and the breakfast had a large variety and really good brown cheese. This hotel is right across from the train station, and the town is right behind it. Perfect location if you are taking the train.

We stay here quite often and really enjoy this hotel. The rooms are a good size and well maintained. They are in the process of refurbishing some of them right now. The restaurant always has delicious food both for their breakfast and dinner.

The hotel is located next to the train station and the bus station, so it's quite convenient if you travel by train/bus. There're also restaurants nearby. The rooms are large enough. There's a free shuttle going from the hotel to the Kongsberg Technology Park in the morning, which is very useful if you're there on business.

This BH+ hotel is well situated just in front of the railway station. The bedrooms can be noisy in front of the main street. The rooms in the annex are much quieter. The price is high for this standard room. The breakfast is of standard quality (not so much choice by the way).

We stayed here on the last night of our holiday, and were very satisfied with our room, car parking, central location,the friendliness of the staff and the excellent breakfast. Compared to everywhere else we stayed in Norway, which were all very good, this was one of two places that wasn't eye-wateringly overpriced.

The hotel is situated opposite the station in this small, delightful, quiet town. The buffet breakfast and buffet dinner was very good, a cosy bar and friendly staff. There is also a lounge with books, some in English. The room well appointed with a kettle for tea/coffee making. The bathroom was a little small in my single room.

I had a comfortable 10 day stay while in Kongsberg for business. Since it is one of two choices in the entire town, it's surprising that they don't slack on service. The breakfast is excellent and the front desk is friendly and accommodating. The bar tender is super nice and hospitable too. Two pointers: Laundry is insanely expensive and the only laundromat in town is too. Both do not do service on the weekends so think ahead when you're packing. It was $40 for a small bag of laundry. Also there are no wash cloths in the rooms so bring you're own.

The hotel is right across the street from the train station. The rate includes a wonderful breakfast with lots of variety. Rooms are quiet, beds comfortable, and plenty of hot water. The staff is friendly and accommodating. One important feature is that the blackout shades do work if you close them completely, which is nice when the sun rises at 4 AM in the Summer.

Very nice hotel that we stay at whenever we work in Kongsberg. Within walking distance of grocery shopping and many restaurants. Short walk to the silver museum and the skiing museum. Nice breakfast buffet and I LOVE their brown cheese, although I know that it is all over Norway.

The Best Western in Kongsberg 2as an excellent hotel to visit. It is located across the street from the main bus stop and NSB train station. The rooms were excellently appointed, very comfortable and roomy. The bar (kinda small) and breakfast area were very nice. The bartender was very knowledgeable and suggested drinks based on your description. Wait staff for the breakfast area were equally friendly. Breakfast is included and was very good. It was also a nice way to try some of the local fare. Front desk staff were very friendly and saw to all my inquiries. My Norwegian is very poor so I had to use English. I had no complaints about the small language barrier. The staff's English skills were very good and I had no complaints. BOTTOM LINE : Excellent location for a hotel. If you are unable to rent a local house or apartment stay at the Best Western in Kongsberg. You won't be disappointed.

Stayed here for two nights for business. Rooms are quiet, clean and spacious. Beds are comfortable. Heated floor in the bathroom. Breakfast buffet offers plenty of choices. Coffee machine offers many options, incl. cappuccino and hot chocolate. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and all of us were very happy with the quality of the food. Would definitely stay here again.

I really don't have anything to bad to say about the hotel. The staff was awesome and the hotel's restaurant was good. It is close to everything but then again it's is a small town. There are only two hotels in town. Would stay again.

The Gyldenlove has a casual, quiet, friendly atmosphere which I find very restful on Business trips, Kongsberg is a small beautiful little town nestled in the mountains. The Gyldenlove is conveniently located next to train / bus station. Beautiful spot for a relaxing walk after work

My wife, teen daughter and I stayed at the hotel a weekend late august. We got a good first impression, by seeing the interior and the furniture in the lobby and the surrounding area. The breakfast was good, the room was simple but cozy, spacious and clean, good beds, and the staff was nice and helpful. And totally the hotel and the area around was quiet, though it was weekend, even at night. For us this felt relaxing and pleasent since we had a long distance in the car behind us. The price was also absolutely acceptable and free parking by the hotel is also a plus. We definitely wishes to come back at another occasion. We sure like to come back another time.

I visited kongsberg in August, it was my stop to be able to visit he beautiful heddal stave church in notodden. The hotel staff was very friendly and help me with the , often complex, bus and train system. The room was decent size and pretty average which describe this hotel pretty well. The room were generally clean except some hair left in the bottom of the shower. The sink and shower pipes would produce some strange sounds for 30 min after usage. There was no way of changing the temperature in the room and it got quite hot during the night. Also my room door was really hard to lock and I often had to close it over and over again for it to finally shut properly and lock. Still overall okay hotel just don't except anything fancy
