Resumen de la reserva
This Best Western was the best I have ever stayed at. The beds were so cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was not the usual fare and was like one you would make at home. Nice yogurt "bar" with yogurt you could scoop out and put in what you want. There were fresh fruits like pineapple slices, grapes and cantaloupe. You get to look out at the lake when you eat. All the rooms face the lake and I would suggest 2nd or 3rd floor rooms if you want the privacy of no one walking by your patio door. Only things I would change is to offer king size beds and put clocks in the room. Haily was one of the best employees I have encountered.
This hotel is a pure gem. The setting was gorgeous. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We didn't utilize the restaurant/bar or the spa but I'm certain they were fantastic as well.
Fantastic place! One of the largest and best accessible rooms that I have ever stayed. Extremely clean . Excellent staff. Breakfast could be a little bit better, but overall good food. Beautiful lake views with either balcony or patio for all rooms. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
Beautiful room with an eve even more beautiful view! Tons of free amenities and friendly helpful staff! The top Best Western we have stayed in. Right from the booking process Melissa made us feel like we were welcomed guests. Free paddle boards, kayaks, corn hole, 2 wood fire pits, even an indoor s'mores bar!
Lovely sanded beach area, all rooms have gorgeous lake view. Ample breakfast. Friendly staff. Spotlessly clean and accommodating. Gotta kick out the heavy-handed north woods decor. Great lobby/bar area for a quiet rink. If you want to party stay at Holiday Inn or near marina. If you want to wind down, stay here.
Location is perfect! You have a hotel with all the amenities as well as a small beach to lounge in the sun and well-kept grounds to enjoy Detroit Lakes is a nice town to visit (shops & restaurants Will probably bring our boat next time too! Rooms were spacious and very clean and beds super comfy! Staff was all helpful and friendly Breakfast was delicious! Pool was fresh and well stocked with towels
Love The Lodge. Only place I will stay when in Detroit Lakes. Many things to do in the summer, as it is a tourist town, the breakfast at The Lodge is something I look forward to every year.
Just for the extra price over other motels in the area, I guess I expected more. Breakfast was polish sausage with eggs for 2 days straight and there was only one pop machine in the whole motel, once ice dispenser and not one on each floor. It was okay but I probably would choose a cheaper motel in the future and not expect to be pampered. the pool area was nice.
Arrived on site earlier than customary 3pm check in. Front desk representative was able to get me into a room early, this was greatly appreciated because I had to tend to business outside of the hotel right away. The room was wonderful and the scenery was spectacular!!
The Lodge is the perfect get away. It's relaxing, the staff are super friendly and the rooms were beyond our expectation. We spent 3 nights and will definitely be back.
We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It is well maintained, location is on the lake, friendly staff, nice rooms and clean
The Lodge on Detroit Lakes exceeded all our expectations. It was very clean, and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. It felt like we were being welcomed into their own homes. The breakfast menu far exceeded most Continental breakfasts. Their s'more bar each evening was a hit for all in our group. We definitely will share our experience with friends and make this our hotel of choice if we are in the area.
We had to stay for a licensure exam that was being held in Detroit Lakes. We are planning on coming back to stay longer because we enjoyed our stay so much!
Very seldom do we go to a hotel and not turn on the TV at some point in the evening. This time all we did was sit and look out the window at the beautiful lake. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The room was one of the nicest simple hotel rooms, tastefully decorated, clean and the bed was just right. Breakfast was the similar fare to other places except the eggs weren't from a box, there were extra good foods like scones, and there were actual plates and silverware! I think all rooms have either a large picture window or outside balconies. It was a marvelous place to stay.
This was our second visit/stay at this location and it did NOT disappoint! The atmosphere is so soothing and beautiful. There's soft background music in the lobby area, and the overall property is quiet/clean. The breakfast rivals that of a fine dining restaurant. Staff are all friendly and helpful (particularly Tammy at the front desk!) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Been a very long time since we stayed here, pre Covid. The hotel has amazing views. The service is outstanding and the breakfast bar is stocked with great selections. The lady managing the breakfast area does a fantastic job. The hotel is very quiet with a quaint sitting area in the front lobby. There is a small bar area that serves several types of drinks and snacks. Very nice pool area. This hotel is many steps above a standard hotel stay. This is more of a “getaway”.
This was by far the cleanest, quietest, friendliest, & most well kept hotel we have ever stayed at! We stayed in the 2 room suite & it was spacious & comfortable. Large immaculate bathroom with great water pressure in the shower & lots of nice towels. The pool & hot tub area was well kept, nicely decorated, & there were always plenty of fluffy towels. Breakfast was plentiful & delicious-the attendant kept everything clean & well-stocked. Beautiful views of the lake everywhere. We went for peace & quiet & relaxation & that is exactly what we got. Can't wait to return!
Set on Detroit Lake, the Lodge has beautiful views. The staff is truly welcoming. The guests are friendly too. Everyone seems happy to be there. Basic toiletries are stocked. There is a washer and a dryer. The included breakfast was excellent. Lots of healthy choices and some yummy looking treats! And great coffee.
Kids love the private beach and the rooms that flow right out to the beach and make. Even in winter we love staying just for kids to swim in the cleanest pool around the area. People are super nice and can't find a cleaner hotel .
I recently traveled to The Lodge for a sporting event. The staff were nothing short of amazing to our large group of parents and kids. Melissa specifically was FABULOUS. The pool was always clean (even w/ several rowdy boys!), and orderly. Breakfast wasn't anything special but the breakfast attendants were amazing, seriously amazing. The s'mores station in the lobby was so special and made the cozy lobby even better. The rooms were spacious also. I've never made plans to visit DL before this event, but I'll definitely be coming back!
Stayed in this beautiful lodge for 3 nights the last week in September. It is easily one of the nicest places I've stayed. The rooms were large, the lobby inviting, the lake view beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. Barb in the breakfast room was efficient and friendly -- checking with people in the room how breakfast was. I had a flat tire the last day. Thanks goes to Vickie at the reception desk for helping us figure out who to call for help. Thanks also to Tim, the manager, for volunteering to put the spare on. The lady handing reception the morning we were supposed to check out helpfully extended our checkout time so we could wait for the service place to finishing fixing the tire. If we are ever in the area again, we will stay here for sure.
We really enjoyed our 3 nights at the Best Western Premier the Lodge. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were very helpful, the location was great. We enjoyed the beach with its deck chairs and the hot tub. It would have been nice to have hot eggs that did not contain meat as there always was a hot meat entree at breakfast.
Awesome stay and love the private beach and relaxation to enjoy sunrise and sunset while kids are safe to play. Great free water toys . Breakfast was delicious every morning, only thing wish the bistro was open for lunch. Wife and kids loved the cheese platter and fries but only is open from 5pm to 930pm
The hotel room was beautiful and people were very nice. My only frustration was they double the rate basically for we fest weekend but do not make any extra accommodations for that price. Breakfast done by 930 and a “restaurant” open 5-9pm during this weekend is not helpful. With shuttles didn't get back to the hotel til at least 1am and then had to set an alarm to make it to breakfast or no food options on site til 5pm. Wouldn't hurt to extend these hours for just that weekend.
Loved the motel with the free breakfast, free kayaks and paddle boards and s'mores in the evening. Also enjoyed the campfire in the evening with the provided wood. Very clean and friendly staff! There were 19 of us and we were all very happy with our stay!
Very clean hotel with an cozy up north log cabin feel and every room has a balcony or patio with a view of the lake. The beach is so well maintained and always cleaned and ready for the day. They have a free breakfast that is good but needs some different choices with the meat and eggs.
The Lodge is an amazing place for your family to enjoy a day on the lake! They have paddle boards and kayaks along with dock options for your boat. The staff is amazing and the rooms all overlook the lake and a beautiful sandy beach!!
We usually air bnb for visiting DL but will not again! From the beach to the paddle boards to the kayaks, breakfast, pool, it was all fantastic for our family of 4. The kids loved all of it and the standard room with 2 queens was a great size!
Great place, staff was awesome, friendly, breakfast - best ever . Clean rooms, parking was nice. love the beach area, the views were the best ever, close to everything, nice decorations, nice decor, ..
Don't miss this surprisingly lovely hotel where every room is lakeside and many thoughtful details are everywhere. It's full of pleasant surprises a spa, upgraded wine list, player piano, and s'mores bar.
This is one hotel you will not want to miss staying at if you are in the Detroit Lakes, MN area. When you walk in the front door your will be amazed at the gorgeous lobby. The huge windows overlooking the lake. The guest rooms are beautiful with the largest bathroom of any hotel. All rooms overlook the lake. They breakfast is one of the best in any hotel we have stayed at. You will not regret staying at this gorgeous hotel.
Friendly staff, clean room and everything worked, good hot breakfast included, pool and hot tub, great rate! Definitely highly recommended and we plan to return as we were really impressed with this motel!
This is the place to stay in Detroit lakes! Beautiful suites with wonderful sun set & sun rise views. The staff was professional and accommodating. A+ on hotel décor and cleanliness. A short drive to downtown shops and dining.
A Great American getaway, for a stress free weekend with a Spa within Relaxing place on the beach, good prices, booking early gets you there ❤️Family friendly as well as couples on the run for a great time. Safe, deals on hand, sports on/off the beach
Staff is always friendly and courteous which makes your stay enjoyable. If there was something to improve my stay it would have to be more options for the breakfast. I'm sure the muffins and waffles are great but not really adaptable for a keto diet. The scrambled eggs are atrocious and honestly dry and crusty.
The accommodations and staff were very satisfactory. Our son and his family moved to the area, so we were happy to find a wonderful place to stay for our visits. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and the rooms and bed were very comfortable.
Will definitely stay here again. Friendly service. Good food and drinks at Lola's. Extra touches nice.... like the smores. Very nice rooms, comfy sleeping. Live the up north furnishings. Nice and quiet at night.
This lodge welcomes you as soon as you walk in the door. The lobby area is so relaxing and it gives you a homey feeling. We stayed in a king kitchen suite that was clean and large. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom is huge with large fluffy towels. Breakfast is a variety of delicious options. The lounge/restaurant is such a plus. The flatbreads are great! Later in the evening they have a smores station set up with is a nice little perk. You can't go wrong when you stay at this location.
Breakfast horrible! No maid service during our stay. We stayed there many times without a problem but this time we had problems. No coffee, eggs were horrible, waffles tasted like they were made with water.
Best hotel my wife and I ever stayed at and that is saying a lot since I am 68 years old and have stayed at numerous places. I could go on and on about the excellent things about this hotel but I am just going to quickly sum it up by saying everything is top notch and extraordinary.
The Best Western Lodge in Detroit Lakes exceeded our expectations. The room was clean. The lady at the desk was polite and caring. The smores were delightful. The breakfast was fulfilling. The sunset was amazing and forgetful.
Had a lake view room on the lower level. Walked right out to the lake and had an amazing view from the patio. Breakfast was a wonderful assortment of goodies. Hope to have the opportunity to experience the spa next time.
Have stayed many times at The Lodge and were always impressed with how well kept and clean it was, how they served an above average breakfast buffet unlike other hotels who offer the usual “fake eggs” and sausage. This time, however, we were slightly disappointed. While the rooms still seemed clean, we noticed common areas that needed attention, dust on hallway seating, carpets that need cleaning, just a noticeable lack of general cleaning throughout. We had a lake level room with a patio door that would not lock. A friend in our group had a room with a plumbing issue that had to be tended to both nights of her stay. Also a request by someone in our group, when they booked in March, for adjoining rooms never happened. An excuse was given that they had more recently booked families who requested adjoining rooms so evidently they just switched our friends to two rooms not adjoining. ?? Not happy with that ! We had told friends in our group when booking our stay that The Lodge goes above and beyond with their breakfast offerings but this time was totally different. We missed the wonderful egg bakes, the wonderful variety of fresh fruit that was always offered, and the only juice offered this time was OJ and it was so watered down it hardly tasted like juice. We understand that prices have gone up for food but as The Lodge has significantly raised their room rates, we thought that would help cover the cost of offering the same type of breakfast as before. It is a disappointment to find that The Lodge we always loved to just come to and relax at for a few days is not what we have come to expect. As always, however, the person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. I don't believe that this hotel is privately owned and operated anymore and that is perhaps the issue !
This hotel has very comfortable rooms and the decor is unique to the area. A lot of the furniture is made from Minnesota's trees/lumber as well as some of the "decorations". Also, the staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home.
We had three connected rooms(friends weekend) for our stay at The Lodge. Everything was exceptional. One of our friends brought up their pontoon so we spent most our time on the water gazing at the high end cabins on the lake. It was easy to beach/park the pontoon and grab a beverage/app at one of the restaurants on the lake. We even took it to The Fireside one night for supper. It was $20 per night for a slip but well worth it. The launch is literally next door. When we returned to The Lodge we usually started a fire at one of the fire pits and had s'mores(provided by The Lodge) to cap off the night. Thanks for a great stay! We will definitely be back. FYI - There are train tracks across the street from the hotel and we did see trains but it couldn't be heard from our rooms. Could be heard out at the fire pits but did not bother us one bit.
Hadn't booked but saw this online and was lucky enough to get a room for the night. Room had patio doors out to the lake where there is a small beach to enjoy the sunset and sunrise. Didn't take up the opportunity to have a go at kayaking or paddle boarding but this was available. Did enjoy a flatbread from the bistro though which was delicious. Huge room with comfortable beds. Decor a little dated but was meant to replica a ‘lodge' so was to be expected. Clean and quiet though so had a good nights sleep - complimentary breakfast was basic but satisfactory.
We were in Detroit Lakes to attend a family funeral. The Lodge is so pretty, quiet, and the staff so helpful! We enjoyed getting up each day to the delicious breakfast (provided by the lodge) and we also enjoyed walking along the path in the front of the hotel (gorgeous views and wildflowers).
Beautiful hotel very nice clean rooms Great indoor pool and hot tub Awesome sandy beach with free access to paddle boards, kayaks and paddle boat We stayed on first floor which was super handy to go back and forth to the beach Must see sunsets on the beach they are breath taking Spa on property looked nice I didn't have time to go this trip but will next time S'mores are offered from 8-9pm Family had a great time and did not want to leave! We will definitely stay here again and recommend this location to others that are staying in DL location Only 1 hour from MS Headwaters so perfect location if your wanting to visit the Mississippi Headwaters Only suggestion: hotel should put a water faucet next to beach to allow guests to wash their feet before coming into rooms and hotel there was a lot of sand
Very nice stay at this property Staff very helpful and attentive Rooms were spacious and comfortable Breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast buffet, kinda average, especially when everything else was above average We are already planning another trip there
The Lodge always exceeds expectations! WE usually do a Family Reunion at the Lodge and all the families love the beach and the location provides for beautiful sunsets. One of my daughters tells me that she dreams about the wonderful breakfasts while you look out over the lake. Just can't say enough good about this facility!
A perfect place to stay at with wonderful staff and accommodations. Rooms are spacious and the restaurant and eating areas are great! We have stayed here before and will return in the future. Lovely beach area with outdoor grills , picnic tables and chairs.
We love staying at Lodge on Lake Detroit! The views & outdoor space was perfect for enjoying summer fun with family. The beds are very comfortable & we found it very difficult to go home! We look forward to returning!
Very nice hotel. Rooms were clean and in good condition. View from the room was spectacular. Very relaxing atmosphere. Amenities were top notch. Will definitely be going back to this hotel again. Enjoyed my stay there.
It's hotel was a fantastic place to stay. Our room opened up right out to the beach, and they offered complimentary paddle boards and kayaks. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The hotel is in a perfect location to everything in Detroit Lakes.
Clean rooms and lobby. Staff friendly. Easy access to highway. Gorgeous view of the lake. Comfy lobby with plenty of seating and fireplace overlooking the lake. Would highly recommend for single or family stay. Nice little beach with picnic tables, BBQ grills
Great stay is a under statement. Price was low and the accommodations were better that others at half the price. Breakfast was outstanding with nice selection. View of lake with balcony was a nice touch. Even could walk to water.
Excellent place to stay. Comfortable and accommodating for all our family needs. We needed 8 rooms for our family for three nights and they gave us everything we needed. It was helpful having a pool for entertainment and a hot tub for relaxation. Our family used all amenities. The breakfast was great and coffee was perfect.
Wonderful accommodations! Clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Beautiful lodge like interior. Breakfast was excellent and the choices of coffee were amazing! Only wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed more of the amenities and spa.
This location is beautiful. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, updated and breakfast was wonderful. They kept the food stocked and tables clean. I hope we can go back this summer. Loved it!!
I came on the perfect day...SMORE DAY! The smores were great, as were the amenities and staff. The room was very clean, the bed was amazing, and the view of the lake, even thought there was ice still covering it, was beautiful!
Location is good, the room was clean and the decor is very nice. Beautiful shower. Friendly staff and an early check in. Convenient spa with all the amenities. Nice relaxing trip with multiple stops. Just what I needed
This is a must stay hotel. The warm and cozy atmosphere on a somewhat cold stormy night was perfect with the fireplace blazing in the lobby. Hotel is very well maintained and clean. Our room was larger than normal and smelled so clean when we walked in. The towels all looked new and the beds were very comfy. Internet was good and we did not use the fitness center. Breakfast offered 2 hot selections and a waffle machine. Many other options such as muffins, scones, cereals, fruit and yogurt. Great tea selections. Dining area is large and clean. LolaD's makes the best flatbread pizza we have ever had. You can smell it through out the hotel and you just have to have one! We did not use the pool area. You can expect a wonderful experience at this hotel.
We love this hotel for their GREAT views, customer service, cleanliness, restaurant and spa! When we plan a getaway this is the only place we gravitate towards over and over again. We love the whirlpool rooms with the fireplace and can just relax! The spa is EXCELLENT and so worth it and Lola D's has great pizza and snacks that you do not even need to leave your room to order! Excellent all the way around.
We have stayed at this hotel The Lodge In Detroit Lakes, MN many times. We enjoy it every time. The rooms are great. Breakfast delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful. Swim area or the lake always inviting. Plus you can book a massage at The Spa.
Best Western Premier Lodge on Lake Detroit is a must stay if you're taking a trip to Detroit Lakes! Excellent service, great people, great amenities and great people. Very clean and comfortable room. All rooms face the lake, so every room has a very scenic view. I highly recommend this hotel.
Nice place.. The only thing needs improvement is too check the bathroom. Toilet needed to be wiped down due to prior urine drops. Towel was used and placed back on the shelf and should of been removed prior to stay.
Traveled to Detroit Lakes MN for the Ice Palace and Polar Fest activities. Had a great stay and could see the fireworks from the motel lobby.Motel was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
The name “the Lodge” is true. The decor is lovely, with knotty pine, timber beams and other things that makes this such a pleasant place. Staff are helpful and friendly. This is a family friendly hotel and would be wonderful in the summer too.
Hockey team stayed at this hotel and all members of the staff were excellent and made us all feel invited to be there. Went above and beyond to help us out when we needed breakfast early before an early morning game.
We absolutely love this hotel. It is so clean and so beautiful. The rooms are spacious and all overlook the lake. Even in the winter this is a pretty view. The lobby is so welcoming and such a nice place to sit by the fire in the comfy furniture and just relax and visit. The breakfast is so good, the best eggs and bread around. The pool and hot tub are perfect temps and so relaxing. A best place to stay if you are coming to Detroit Lakes.
Lovely hotel, comfortable and well decorated, quiet rooms, beautiful location on the lake! I was here during the winter, so I can only imagine how great it would be to see the lake view during spring, summer or fall. Helpful staff, nice options for breakfast. They have a spa on site that we we didn't have time to experience, but what a great option to add more relaxation. I would definitely stay again!
This is the only hotel I will stay at in Detroit Lakes. I have tried quite a few in DL as I have relatives there but after staying at The Lodge, I won't stay anywhere else. The location right on the lake, the decor, the comfortable rooms with wonderful beds and large bathrooms are very much appreciated. The staff is always very professional and helpful. Thanks for making my stay to visit family even better!
Great service, super clean, comfy rooms, loved the decor, pool area wasn't super crowded which was a plus as well! We felt right at home the whole time we were there. Already thinking of planning a girls trip to come back!
OMG!! This place seemed like a palace when we arrived! This place was so amazing from the time when we went down to the beach to when we ordered dinner. The lodge looks out over Detroit Lake and the staff was amazing. I was totally floored at the dinner that was cooked for us. I wanted to stay for two more days but they were fully booked. We didn't want to leave
We enjoy the atmosphere of lobby the bar and restaurant person can sit inside by fireplace or outside on deck. The food and drinks are good and staff is helpful always friendly. Breakfast is hot and part of service. Like the cabin feeling throughout even in rooms. S'mores are always served in evening. Love going to The Lodge.
The hotel was amazing, service was superb, hot tub and pool were great! Our room had a patio that we could walk right outside to look at the beautiful sunset. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
We were on a 16 day cross country trip through 11 states staying in 5 of the states, MN being one of them. We selected this BW Premier based on Trip Advisor reviews and it did not disappoint. In fact, it far exceeded our expectations. I only wish we hadn't arrived so late for our one night stay! I actually wish we had stayed here MORE nights. At night I could appreciate the nicely appointed room, but I couldn't even begin to appreciate the fantastic view that awaited us in the morning from our King Balcony. I fell in love! The lake, the fall colors... it was breathtaking! We lingered as long as we could before checking out. The breakfast room was pleasant too and the breakfast quite good. Things I particularly liked besides the balcony and view were: the spacious bathroom and shower stall, the mini bar area, the decor, the large room. Our stay was quiet, comfortable and beautiful. I really can't wait to return to more fully enjoy this property!
Price was right, very comfortable, beautiful hotel! Enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace talking with my husband. . And s'mores?! What a great idea! Wood was set if we wanted to go out and sit by the lake by the fire.. Almost stayed another day just to take advantage of the kayaks and other amenities, but sadly continued on our trek instead. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
We stayed here for 6 nights. Appreciated having a kitchenette so we could prepare some simple meals and didn't have to eat out all the time. We had a room (116) with a murphy bed -- and asked that the bed be down when we arrived as we didn't anticipate putting it up during our stay. Because of the design of the bed, you have to be careful that you don't "lose" your pillows during the night as there is a gap between the mattress and the wall. We just put our pillows a bit further down the mattress than we normally would and we had no problem. The bed mattress, however, left a LOT to be desired. It felt like an old mattress; no support at all -- which surprised us because the mattress would have been right on the wood of the murphy bed. Yet when my husband laid on the bed, he sunk it and his sinking caused me to roll toward him -- or I had to hang onto the side of the mattress to keep from rolling toward him. Suspect the mattress simply needs replacing! No support at all. We enjoyed the evening sunsets from our room ... and we enjoyed the smores 8-9 pm each evening in the lobby. The staff we spoke with during our stay were always kind -- except for the one cleaning women whom we asked for some additional shower gel and lotion since we were staying 6 nights. Highly recommend a stay here!
Staff and hotel were awesome. Will stay again. Clean, updated, everything works. Great views on the lake, nice beach. Hotel offers canoes, kayaks, paddle boards free of charge. Firepits and wood to burn, again free. Plus outdoor yard games. Great breakfast. Location is perfect, easy access. Love this hotel.
This hotel just happened to be enroute during a cross-country road trip. What a lucky find and an unexpected pleasure! Every hotel room has a lake view and faces the sunset. The room looked like it had recently been updated and was spacious and well appointed. The staff were fabulous. They served S'mores at night. It was the perfect place to get a little pampering and relaxation before we continued our long-distance drive. There are railroad tracks nearby, but I never heard the trains while in the hotel. I'm so glad we spent one night there, but wish we could have stayed longer!
We had a wonderful time at the Lodge. The staff was very friendly and the resort was gorgeous. From the beach, to the lobby, to the rooms, to the amenities, it was all awesome and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back!
The Lodge is undoubtedly among best places to stay in Detroit Lakes. The rooms are fantastic, the facilities well maintained, and the lake access (literally) unparalleled. Breakfast is complimentary & great too! Further, the staff are just amazing. From Vickie who checked us in to Melissa and Tabitha who were at the front desk, everyone is just wonderful. To that end, I want to give special recognition to Tammy, who helped us while booking our reservation and then made sure our bill was correct on check out. She went above & beyond to make sure we were cared for! You will not regret staying at the Lodge while you're in DL. It is a truly wonderful hotel!
The Lodge on Detroit Lake is excellent for a week or one night. With every room facing the lake, there can't be a bad room in the Lodge. A beautiful sandy beach and green grass and trees along the lake make it perfect for every age. The quaint small town has many places to eat and fun shops. This is definitely the best place for a visit to Detroit Lakes, MN.
Amazing property, beautiful interior lobby, rooms with balcony all facing the lake, free breakfast, one drink coupon, fresh chilled lemon water, very clean all over, beds are super comfortable. staff will to help with any need you have. For as up scale as this place is and on the lakeside room prices are high, but worth it, being pampered... oh they have a spa too
This is my second time at this hotel. We stay in hotels about 90 nights a year so we have seen a lot of hotels. This is one of the best. The rooms are spacious and functional, the staff is extremely helpful, the location is excellent-right on Detroit Lake. They have a great pool and hot tub, a great beach, great things for all ages. No complaints!
We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 8 years and love it! The staff is so inviting and willing to help out with everything. We are always coming to visit family and they welcome our extended family for visits by the lake and inside the lodge playing games. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Kayaks not available except 1 of the days we were there. Daughter and I cut our feet in the beach area because it wasn't being maintained properly, so wear shoes! Sunsets are gorgeous. Breakfast is decent. Beds are comfortable. We go every year and this was the first year we had a terrible experience, so if you stay here hopefully they will be back up to par before you go!
This lodge is right on the lake and the view is amazing. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's so nice to be able to walk to the dock from the rear of the hotel to fish and kayak. I highly recommend it!
The lodge is amazing - it's awesome to have a lake view (walkout or balcony) as the sunsets are incredible. The facility is well maintained, clean and beautiful. We docked a boat there during our stay and it is an easy walk into town (restaurants etc). As with any business these days, they are short staffed. Those that are working give 110% , but to run a place of this magnitude they really need to have more people on hand (you get the sense they are glad to help, but are really too busy to give you much time) . We only got housekeeping one day, but you pay the same price for a room each night. Breakfast is over at 9 sharp (most travelers eat later) - but they also start putting supplies away before 9. To end on a positive note - we will come back!
As close to having a cabin at the lake as hotel can be. Well run, all rooms face the lake with balconies/patios and hotel rooms/common areas are roomy with "lodge" vibe. Has pleasant beach and large lawn on the lake.
We chose Detroit Lakes as a stopping point on a long road trip, so we arrived weary and late in the afternoon. Too bad because we could have enjoyed more time here. As it was, our room, on the lower level below the lobby, had a small patio with chairs looking over the lawn and lake. We were close to the guest laundry which we needed to use. So this was very handy. The room was spacious, attractively decorated in a North Woods rustic style, comfortable, spotlessly clean and the bathroom had some nice amenities, such as a lighted magnifying mirror on the counter. The room was equipped with a small bar area with sink, microwave and mini-refrigerator. It was perfect for our needs. So happy I found it.
I would like to commend whoever is running the show at the BWP in Detroit Lakes. Lovely location, great service, rooms were clean, all had patios/decks, and fun amenities. I would recommend, and we will be coming back. Zero complaints!
This place was clean, current, staff was amazing, would stay here again. Rooms are large and the grounds and view with the lake are superb. They have Kayaks to use, firepits and free wood. Love this place.
Great stay for many reasons. Staff were helpful and accommodating, even preparing kayaks early in the season by request (thanks, Tricia). The rooms look over the lake and offer beautiful sunset views; we watched a bald eagle eat dinner on a high tree branch level with our balcony. Lakeside setting is relaxing and well-maintained. Can't wait to return.
We stayed here as a little anniversary get-a-way in replacement for a trip out of state and we actually preferred it, as mind-blowing as that is for us with a major travel bug, and we will definitely stay here again before the summer is even over! For relaxation, excellent and friendly service, a full service spa experience without leaving your hotel, and excellent beach/lake this is by far one of the best places in MN (and it was not even that expensive!!).
Check in was as smooth as can be, front desk staff were beyond friendly. Jacuzzi room was beautiful, clean, and cozy. Sunset from the balcony facing the lake was so pretty. It was chilly so we did not go down to the water, however watching the ducks was kinda cute. We are planning to come back early summer with a lawn chair ( although i think they supply them) and a book, cant wait to sit and relax. if you are looking for perfect getaway this is your go to place.
Beautiful rooms, fabulous view of the sunset, excellent staff, wonderful ambience throughout this hotel! It's the type of boutique hotel that you're content to stay on the property just to enjoy all they offer, even though there's plenty to do close by.
I actually meant to book another hotel that I had stayed at before there on the lake. I hadn't made those reservations and out of habit selected Best Western because they are my go to Hotel Chain for quality and value. My daughter says "best mistake ever!" The Lodge exceeded all expectations.
The Lodge on Lake Detroit was the BEST! We had a family suite plus a connecting guest room which was perfect for our group with 7 littles and 4 adults. The pool was never crowded and the area was clean and there were always fresh towels for us. Breakfast was a "to go bag" and it was actually a hot sandwich along with fruit and a muffin. Plenty of food. We can't say enough good things about the staff. So friendly and kind! Would love to come back in the summer.
I have stayed at many hotels but this hotel was probably my favorite one so far. So many friendly staff and beyond clean. They all made sure your stay was going good and made sure my 6 year old had a fun time. Even included making s'mores by the fireplace in the lobby!! Will definitely stay there again.
We have stayed at this property several times. The view of the lake is beautiful. There are several dining options nearby along with food option on site. The room is very comfortable and spacious. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again!
I was here for only one night, unfortunately! From the time you walk in to the time you leave you feel pampered. The desk attendant always has something nice to say or asks to make sure your doing ok. How nice is that? Even walking through the lobby, they make sure you know you are welcome. This was my first visit to DL, MN. Well it looks like I started off with the nicest lodging available. The interior has a true lodge feel with a fireplace and comfy seating by it. My room was a very generous size with 2 queen beds that were high! I love elevated beds, with dreamy linens and fluffy, shape the way you want pillows. The sheets were crisp and oh soooo white! The bed tried to keep me but alas, I had to rise and start my morning. It was so comfortable I could have stayed in for another few hours! The room carpet was clean and so was the bathroom floor - ever do that washcloth test to see what you are walking on???? Well I did and found it to be clean, not dirty at all! The bathroom was just as lovely as the rest of the room with an all glass shower and high vanity made of logs and granite. The soap dish even looked like crystal! It was just such an elegant touch and made me smile. Someone really cares about this property and wants to make a good impression.....well done! The room had a balcony with sliding glass doors that overlooked the beach area right on Big Detroit Lake (of course right now it's covered in snow but the light details outlined the beach.) A rocker sat stately in the corner along with a table and light across from it, flanking the patio door. The room refrigerator was larger than normal with an additional small sink and nice counter space with coffee/tea service too. A large closet with 2 or was it 3? luggage racks had plenty of hangers to nestle your winter (or summer) gear. Upon check in I received a coupon for discount bar specials - it's right there in the lobby! So unique! A nice selection of beer and liquors to make cocktails with. They also have a nice array of food available for ordering too. The staff was really nice - did I mention that? :-) Later on in the evening there was a smores bar available! Everything was prepackaged in a small bag and you could toast the marshmallow right there! It was such a treat! Truly a touch of 'home' feeling that really stuck out to me that this property wants you to feel special and goes the extra mile to do so. The pool room was a bit cool, but it was -5 when I arrived. Hot tub temperatures always challenge me but this one was a nice soaking temp and was large as far as hot tubs go. The pool was one of the largest indoor ones I'd seen in the Best Western line. Also during check-in I was asked what I'd like for breakfast from the list. Saturday's main entree was an English muffin sanwich, and I got to choose what I wanted on it! I had not expected that as I saw it was 'grab and go' and I've had some awful 'grab and go' breakfasts (like right to the trash) but too, the breakfast did not disappoint. I was even able to put my 'time' on the order so when I arrived it was nice an warm, perfect temp to not burn my mouth - yaknow how cheese sometimes does that! Along with my breakfast sanwich I received an apple, small sized water and some type of 'bar'. A granola bar would have been better but I WILL NOT COMPLAIN because my stay was just delightful. This hotel is right on one of the snowmobile routes so you can park and play right from here! They even have a map for you too! Polar Fest activities had been postponed a week and this Saturday turned out to be quite spectacular with the kite festival - first time ever!!! and the fishing derby and vintage snowmobile show and swap. What fun winter events! Great stay, great staff, great amenities. I'll be back!
We hadn't stayed in a hotel in about a year due to the pandemic, so we were a little nervous about staying somewhere, but our entire experience was awesome. We felt safe to eat breakfast that was bagged for us, go swimming as we were the only ones in there and there were restrictions also for this. We overall enjoyed our experience and will stay here again in the future!
This was our first time to stay at this hotel. We found out it is owned by the same people who have the Best Western at Grand Marais, MN. We have stayed there a couple of times and loved it. This hotel was lovely-lodge feel. The staff was great! Thank you Vicky for being a great hostess in the evening. We had a drink from the bar. We were the only guests in the lobby at the time. The hotel was very clean. We were impressed with the manager and front desk clerk was very efficient and helpful.
Love this place! Great staff and service, great views of the lake, well maintained and appointed facility, and all rooms face the lake! I had a suite with a kitchenette which was very nice. They have the room tastefully waiting for you, including music playing on the TV!
A Lovely Best Western on Detroit Lake! It has a very relaxing and cozy lodge feel. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything to make your stay nice. I loved the decor. The reception people were helpful and able to give suggestions for the area. The breakfasts were satisfying. I enjoyed and took part in the evening s'mores. WiFi was good and easy to use. The fall view of the lake from our room was so relaxing.I could have sat and watched the birds for hours.
Excellent - member of our party fell and was seriously injured in the hotel - definitely not due to any fault of hotel or staff! Staff was extremely helpful and caring! Great service despite Covid limitations. Stay was related to a family funeral so very much appreciated the service and assistance ! Had stayed here before and would definitely do so again!
Great facility and rooms, clean, great service, awesome/top-notch restaurants nearby. Cabin-like decor and feel. Beautiful bathrooms. Lake view is nice as well! They also prepare s'mores kits to roast s'mores in the lobby! Yum, was a nice treat. Highly enjoyed our stay.
This place is great & exceeded all expectations! The room, the amenities, the staff, the breakfast were all incredible. Oh....and there's a pool, hot tub, exercise room, AND a day spa!! The room was fresh & clean, and had fridge & microwave. I cannot wait to go back, and I definitely recommend this place to others.
Wow! This hotel is a must if you're staying in the Detroit Lakes area. I've stayed three times now and it never disappoints. The lake view is amazing. Sunset on the balcony is my favorite time. The rooms are spacious and perfect for business or pleasure. I've only traveled for business though. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Seriously a great hotel.
I opted for the rose turn-down in the room to surprise my wife and it was beautiful. The Lodge made it easy to add that on their website and it started the trip off right! Excellent service and staff!
Our stay at the Lodge exceeded all of my expectations for lodging & friendliness! We had a delightful & relaxing experience! The customer service was fantastic and the amenities were all we could have hoped for! The lake is beautiful and we will definitely return!
Patio room overlooking the lake was the perfect room. Facilities were clean and rooms were comfortable. Great place to spend time with family and friends. Lake is beautiful and kayaks and paddle boards are available for use.
This hotel was top notch from the decor, to the comfy bed, and the delicious food. We especially enjoyed the private beach and the kayaks and paddle boards available free for guests. I wish we had gotten an earlier start so we could have had more time at the hotel. We will definitely be going back to this hotel.
I love that this hotel offers beach front - lake front rooms. Just a few steps from our door and we were on the beach! The hotel rooms are huge, clean, and have everything you could need (especially for a family)
This is a great location, amazing views, beautiful lobby and clean rooms. I loved our balcony to sit out during sunset. We visited in June 2020- the fireflies arrived! You could enjoy them around 9PM in their native grasses restoration---and that makes me happy they care to do that. It has a great sandy beach to sit at with chairs and their are Kayaks you can check out! There is a nice dock- great for photos! Don't miss S'more making in the evening in the lobby---super special for kids and adults! I love this place. It is special for so many reasons. I felt safe and clean and staff wore masks. I ate at Fireside down the street- don't miss that! We ate outside to enjoy a nice summer night. I hope to come back! Great service, great everything!
This is one of my 3 favorite vacation destinations. Super relaxing atmosphere,! Gorgeous beach and sunsets. It's the freshwater version of San Diego (if you ever go there you'll want yo stay at Best Western Palms Island Inn on Shelter Island). This is by far the best hotel in MN, we love the Best Western Premier, Lodge!
So pleasantly surprised at how nice this property was. From the minute we walked in until 2 days later at checkout just an overall terrific experience. The staff really understand great customer service. They were attentive, quick and really nice. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious and beautiful bathrooms (and props for not using plastic bottles for shampoo and such. Those convenient paper containers were a snap to use even with wet hands). The view from everywhere in the hotel is of a gorgeous lake and the lobby has a nice relaxing section where you can play a board game, sip a glass of wine, put you feet up in front of a fireplace. Really nice. And don't get me started on how delicious that breakfast was. There were many, many selections to choose from and the coffee was good. Thank you for that. Overall a very, very good experience and we will definitely stay there again next time we're in town.
Celebrated my sister's birthday here. Was just a group of us ladies We had a great time everyone was very friendly and helpful with any questions or help we needed. We all enjoyed our stay. Would like to go back again
This hotel was amazing. We had the Jacuzzi Suite with a fireplace. The room was very clean and very well appointed. Savannah at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay again! The bed was super comfy!
I love this hotel. I stay here while in town for business. I travel alone and feel 100% safe here. You truly are made to feel like part of the family. I feel as if I am at a spa retreat while here. You can get actual spa treatments which I highly recommend. Have a drink by the fireplace and look out at the beautiful scenery. The food is great. Hence I state; what is not to love??
most enchanting place I have stayed in a long time. The feel that wood trim and beams bring really made you feel like you were staying in an expensive resort. Even in winter the lake looks magical and beautiful.
Hotel rooms were very nice and clean. Staff very friendly. The breakfast was good and the dining area was very clean. i would recommend staying at this hotel for business or pleasure. I would like to visit during the summer so i could enjoy the lake.
Despite being in town for the sad occasion of a funeral, our hotel stay was fabulous. We were able to have rooms close together, the pool and hot tub were enjoyable and the breakfast choices were great.
For one, the gentleman that worked the breakfast area the Saturday morning that we were there did an absolutely fantastic job of keeping the whole area well stocked, neat and clean and even took a moment to greet guests. His service stood out.
We have been going to Lodge on the Lake for years. The resort is always in pristine condition. The rooms have amazing views of the lake with beautiful balconies. The front desk staff have consistently provided 5 star service yet always with genuine Minnesota friendly engagement. A special shoutout to Tammy on our last stay, great lady. The breakfast is one of the high points for us. We try to attend when there is an event going on at the hotel. They bring in some great jazz trio's. It's on our “must do” list to use some of the spa features. They also have a sister property in Grand Marais MN that's on Lake Superior. This property is operated in the same manner as Lodge on the Lake and absolutely worth staying at as well.
A beautiful hotel on the shore of Lake Detroit. All of the rooms are lake view with a balcony. The staff is warm and welcoming. The lobby has a fireplace and comfortable chairs. There is a full bar, complimentary s'mores, lemongrass scented warm towels. The room was very clean. Comfortable beds, good lighting. I would definitely stay here again.
I stay in a lot of mid range hotels and a few higher end hotels and have been seeing how the higher end ones are downgrading a lot on the little things. The best Western I stayed at in Detroit lakes has upped their game and I feel are surpassing the higher scale chains a lot. I was very impressed and pleased
Stayed here recently and had such a wonderful time. Melissa is a saint & runs that place. She along with the rest of the staff was so wonderful and made our experience great. Thanks to the team here for everything, was a great trip!
I have stayed at The Lodge for two years in a row now during the weekend of WEFest in Detroit Lakes - 2018 and 2019. I work at my company's hospitality booth during the festival, and we chose to stay at the Lodge in 2018 due to a mix-up with our prior place we had always stayed. After that first year, we decided we will always continue returning to The Lodge! The rooms are beautiful - very clean and well-presented. I love the log-cabin atmosphere feel that they have. The walk-in glass door shower with rock features and waterfall style shower head makes you feel like you're at a spa each time. This past year when I arrived, we had a little hand-written card on our bed each night that said what time the sunset was with a little note about watching it over the water or something like that. It was very cool! We had a ground-level room right off the water, and I would recommend that to anybody. It's very nice to be able to walk right out and enjoy the beach. But either way - water facing is the way to request a room. They've got a beautiful view. Breakfast is fabulous, and they are always very attentive to how full the food items are - even if it's getting close to the end of the buffet time, which is something I thought was very nice. It's conveniently located right on the end of the strip, easy access from the highway, and there's a gas station right next door within walking distance for any last-minute items or munchies needed. Definitely recommend The Lodge as a place for a nice family getaway to enjoy the water, a romantic weekend (even in the winter to cozy up in the cabin-style rooms), or as a great place if you're in the area for weddings, events, etc.
A great place to relax - unwind and enjoy a beautiful stay! The warm fireplace makes you feel relaxed and the view is beautiful! The breakfast in the morning is good and hot and definately more than just a cup of coffee and a doughnut!
My husband and I, along with our son and his honey, spent a couple of days in the Detroit Lakes area. We stayed at the Lodge and I honestly can't describe what a great property this is. We were warmly welcomed by Sarah at the front desk and got checked in. The rooms were both exceptionally clean and comfortable, with sliding doors to small balconies overlooking the lake and a card that told us what time the sunset would be. Breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast buffet I've had, with fresh fruit, waffles, egg bakes, sausage, oatmeal and more. Good coffee too. There were a couple of small hiccups, like our fridge not working and our key cards only programmed for one night instead of two, but the front desk staff was so eager to make it right and so efficient about doing so that the experience became a good one rather than a pain. Really, stuff happens sometimes and if handled correctly it's just no big deal. I thought the rates were real reasonable and a great value considering how good the breakfast was and how nice the pool area was. The beds were comfy, the towels large and thirsty and the sheets and towels were cotton, not synthetic. I usually travel with my own pillow but forgot it at home. If you love huge fluffy pillows you'll be happy. But I prefer a very small neck pillow so I rolled up a hand towel and that was perfect. Anyway, if we're back in the area we'll definitely stay here again. Hopefully it will be summertime so we can enjoy the beach and the lake, more than just to look through the window at it. But the full moon on the water in the middle of the night was magical.
The ambiance was fantastic. Great lounge area. Especially loved the breakfast. This was more like BB fare. Flavored eggs, sauteed veggies, meats, fruit bar, cheesey hashbrowns and more. We were stuffed!
I have stayed here in the past and it's by far hands down my favorite place to stay. I wish there were more like this in places I need to visit for work. It's always clean, inviting, calming and comfortable. Love the counter space in the bathrooms, the shower is beautiful and the product (Bee Kind) is wonderful. Please keep doing what your doing and I'll continue to come back. It would be a nice place for a girls weekend in the future.
For views and options you can't beat this hotel! The breakfast has many options for GF, and includes unique dishes like special breads, meats, even lefse! There is a fire pit, kayaks, and a s'mores station in the lobby each evening we were there. Spa services available too, but I didn't use them. I will try to stay here every time I'm in DL, MN!!!
Best Lodge Ever! Lakeside view with rustic decor. Service was impeccable with friendly and knowledgeable employees. Location to amenities was great yet right next to the lake. Our next visit to Detroit Lakes will include this as our place to stay!
Very clean place, hot tub was great, beds very confortable, the front desk lady was by her self and did a very good job, food was very good And the price was right, you now have a long term costumer..very friendly employees and the beach was very clean also,,keep up the good work..
I always stay at this hotel when I'm in their region of Minnesota. Great amenities, including a bar & lounge on-site (live music during this stay!), great service, amazing views of the lake. My room was clean, updated, and everything works well. All rooms face the lake, so you can't book a bad room here. Breakfast was surprisingly diverse. Delicious options. Love this hotel!
We enjoyed our first stay here. Breakfast was good. Free access to paddle boards and other activities was a huge plus. Nice beach. Pool is small but adequate. Front desk staff was hit and miss. I was disappointed as we got one of the very few rooms WITHOUT a view of the beach— I will be more specific when I book next time. I wish there were a full restaurant on site. Overall I would recommend it.
We had a great time, first time staying here. We loved the rooms and the views. We had adjoining rooms and were able to visit with family we don't see every day. We loved the paddle boarding and other water activities available to us. The sand beach was great, grills and picnic tables were available for use. Indoor pool was also great. Breakfast was great. Very relaxing for everyone.
This is generally a very nice property. However, on this visit, my room had several cleanliness issues, including a thick layer of dust in the bathroom, dried coffee stains on the balcony and visible mildew.
I highly recommend this place for everyone even families with small children. Rental boats available. Great fishing, view and awesome food. It has plenty to do for everyone. Do your research and check this place out.
Excellent motel. Very clean, excellent Breakfast and courteous staff. All rooms have a lake view. This is one of the cleanest Motels that we stayed at during our trip. I would recomend the Motel to anyone.
This has been the absolute best location that I have stayed at, in my entire life. My wife and I had an OUTSTANDING experience here at The Lodge on Detroit Lakes! When we return next year for our vacation, we will be booking our room, once again, at The Lodge.
The atmosphere is great for families or romantic getaways. Great place to spend the 4th of July. Charlene at the front desk is a sweet lady that goes way above and beyond to meet the hotel guests needs. She deserves a raise : ). The overnight lady was very friendly and down to earth. Staff, food, etc all great. 3 year old, 2 - 30 year olds.
This Lodge on Detroit Lakes is stylish, comfortable, ever so clean, very pleasant surroundings and to get up in the morning and look at this beautiful lake is very peaceful, but the staff makes it all happen here! The staff is outstanding from the front desk, to the restaurant staff to housekeeping, all are happy and love their jobs and are very pleasant and professional. This is hands down the best place to stay in Detroit Lakes, MN:)
From the moment you drive up to walking into your amazing room, the experience at The Lodge on Lake Detroit was incredible! Friendly front desk staff, amazing lodge and clean, gorgeous rooms, topped off by a beautiful view of the lake and sunset from our 3rd-floor balcony, our stay here was wonderful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and offered everything a person could want. The strawberries and whipped cream for my waffles made it even better. We stayed for a business trip, but plan to come back with our family for a long weekend. A truly pleasurable getaway and we left feeling refreshed after sleeping in a super comfy bed filled with super comfy pillows! We would recommend The Lodge on Lake Detroit in a heartbeat!
Beautiful lodge with a beautiful view from room, dining room, lounge. Clean. Good breakfast with room accommodations. Ample parking. Staff helpful & friendly. Sorry, I have no other words to get to 200.
Came to Detroit Lakes for our annual mother daughter weekend getaway. We couldn't have chosen a more beautiful place. The beds are outstanding. The music Thursday night was top notch. The breakfast nutritious, fresh, clean. It felt like a cabin without the hassle. Loved it! Highly recommend!
I know everyone raves about their beds but I just want to rave about their beds some more. They were out of this world -good. Also this is as close to European hotel breakfast I've been to. In addition to normal hot grub they actually had cut up fruit and other items to make it feel like you're on a glossy magazine living the posh life. The whole hotel is so airy and bright with the wood accents!
This is the fourth year we've stayed here when we come for an annual event. Every room has a lake view and the breakfast is great! This year we saw swans floating around our shore, osprey hunting, heard loons every night. It's a nice place, just slightly away from the hustle and noise but only a 2-5min drive to it all.
With a make your own S'mores setup in the lobby, it does not get more Minnesotan than this! This hotel has all of the rooms on the lake side, so each room has a very nice view. Our rooms were very clean and well appointed. One nice feature was an media hub connected to the TV to make it easy to connect your own equipment. A group of us were in town for a funeral and staff was very helpful in making some space available for us where we could spend some time together. Breakfast was very nice and a cut above the typical free breakfast buffet. There is a fairly busy railroad track close to the hotel with a lot of heavy freight traffic, but it really wasn't that noticeable. I'd definitely like to come back here for another stay.
Excellent place to stay. Beautiful view and nice place. Awesome continental breakfast. Will stay here again. Was too cold to swim, but the beach was nice, and the set-up is great as well. The workout room was good as well.
Great hotel! Friendly saff. Balcony with a view of the lake couple chairs and a table to relax on. Anice little beach area for warmer weather days. The best complimentary breakfast we'ver had. I am looking forward to going back soon.
The desk clerk, breakfast attendant, other staff were all very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about the hotel, history of the facility and town. The breakfast was the best I've ever had in 20+ years of traveling. The decor and atmosphere of this hotel is top notch. I hope to stay again one day during warmer weather to enjoy the outside activities that are offered.
This hotel is on the lakeshore with a beautiful view of the lake. The hotel is clean and the rooms have everything you need. The breakfast offers a lot of variety of both cold and hot items. Even with the breakfast provided, there is a coffeemaker, microwave and fridge in your room which is nice for extended stays.
Great room, very comfortable bed and plenty of amenities. The breakfast buffet is top notch with a great variety and even had lefse! Staff were all super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend staying here.
The start this hotel home were very friendly. It is a homey place in a beautiful and calm setting on the lake. I loved being able to watch the lake and sunset each evening from my room. The breakfast was unexpectedly good
My wife and I were looking to have an overnight without the kids so we chose this hotel as it has not disappointed in the past. We love the location, the service, and how clean the rooms are. We have had the breakfast here in the past and it is very good. There's a nice location to lounge near the lobby with a fireplace and good seating. There are many restaurants within 2 miles of this location and you can get on and off Hwy. 10 easily. We will be back.
We went up to the hotel to join in a dinner and wine tasting event sponsered by the hotel. What a treat a 5 course dinner with wine pairing in between courses. The hotel staff were so gracious and the pool and hot tub were great. We had a very large nice room overlooking the lake and watched all the snowmobile riders having fun. It was just a very quiet and relaxing trip. I would do it again without hesitation.
What is not to love! You really are treated like family. The views! WOW. The spa - fabulous. The food/bar - great. There is not one thing not to love about this hotel. Did I mention the view?? :) I stay no where but here when I am up in Detroit Lakes. Nor should you!
We were up in Detroit Lakes for a ski race for our daughter, traveling with some other families. I couldn't have been more delighted by the hotel. I travel a lot for work and I'm a bit of a hotel snob, so I wasn't expecting this place to be much but it was terrific. Very clean, nicely decorated, lovely lake views, nice pool area, great little extras like a sanitary cover over the remote (hallelujah from us germophobes!), in-house restaurant, cute bar area, delicious breakfast buffet (not your usual boring and low quality fare) - everything was awesome and so very reasonably priced. Our only ding was that some of the staff was a bit inexperienced but they had other staff on hand to help them out. We will definitely come back!
What an Delight! room iver the top perfect. Comfortable sofa and table that was great for a little family conversation. I liked the eco- friendly products that were a plastic reduction in actual practice, rather than just the usual lipservice of others eco treatments. My Kuerig was stocked with a non-plastic delightful organic coffee and my shampoo was non-plastic mini versons of quality USA produced toiletries .. Beautiful soft towels. What a beautiful lodge. Nice folks staying there. I felt welcomed and pampered from first minute to last. The breakfast had regional sourced pleasent food orepared by thr hardest working chef i ever met. Fluffy tasty eggs, and over the top cranberry wild rice bread. Thank you so much for making my stay perfect! The bed was the bed my whole trip. I wish i was back there NOW!
We stayed here as part of a hockey team event. We had no knowledge of the hotel or the area ahead of time. Upon arrival we were amazed at the appearance of the hotel and the location. We had a suite for a family of five, and the room was huge! the staff was always present and extremely helpful. This was a fantastic experience especially for the amount we paid.
Do not hestiate to stay at this site. From arrival to departure you are treated with great respect. the place is beautiful in atmosphere, decorations, and access. One of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. End your evening with a glass of wine at the small bar and even have a smore treat at know charge in the evening. Breakfast was good. Atmosphere and hospitality are phenominale.
This is the second year my husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Lodge. The hotel is beautiful and right on the lake. People gather to watch the sunset on the deck. The huge rock fireplace is impressive in the common area. Our room was spacious and had a couch, desk, king bed, and large bathroom with a good shower. Our plan included breakfast which was really good! There was only one thing missing - happy staff! They were not very professional. Breakfast ended at 10 am and we were usually still there at 10. The staff came in right at 10 to get their breakfast with guests still finishing their meal, which was a bit odd. The staff dresses in tennis shoes and casual dress and one of them had bedroom slippers on. Staff didn't smile or greet us when we walked into the hotel - just not real friendly. Also, the hotel's water had to be turned off from noon to 6 pm one of the days due to a leak. This meant we had to change our plans for the day. No one apologized - just told us it would be a couple hours but then when we were in the lobby we asked about it and they said it would be four hours and later they told us six. So we had to leave for the afternoon. I think this hotel is wonderful but I think management could increase customer satisfaction by encouraging a more friendly, professional staff.
This hotel was very nice with a great view of the lake. The breakfast was really good with lots of options to choose from. They even had s'mores every evening in the hotel lobby. Our room was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Detroit Lakes.
Our room was large and well arranged. We ended up having something to eat downstairs. We had the chicken-artichoke flatbread and it was great. Perfect size for 2 to share. We had a couple beers also. Dawn made our pizza and served us- she was very friendly and fun to talk to. The check-in and check-out process was great. This motel is close to train tracks, but since all the rooms face the lake, we could hardly hear the train. The breakfast was good, with lots of places to sit. It was a very relaxing stay.
We had a reunion here and we were very pleased with the arrangement of the lodge..We had a lake view and room amenities were great. Refrigerator and microwave were in the room ...all was very clean and everyone was most helpful and pleasant. Way to go Best Western.!!
If you want a hotel that is beyond most others this is the place to stay. It is kept up to perfection, the rooms are beautiful, the lobby is so relaxing and the breakfast is like no other I have ever been at. We enjoyed our stay beyond words--the beautiful grounds and sandy beach make it a place to stay and relax. Every guest we talked to from Colorado to Ontario were so impressed with this hotel and all said they would certainly return. All I heard were good things from everyone staying at the hotel. And they even have smores in the evening--how fun. The lobby is absolutely beautiful and so warm and inviting. This hotel will not disappoint you. I recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a beautiful hotel. The sunsets are amazing.
The lodge on the lake was a great hotel. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast was delicious and had so many options. The rooms are big and clean. I had a accessibility room and it was perfect. The washroom had lots of handle bars to use and the shower was great. The room itself was decorated very nicely and the balcony with a view of Detroit Lake was a great view in the morning and at sunset! I would definitely stay here again
We stay here every couple of years when we are in the area. Each occasion has been just excellent. Staff members are well-trained, friendly and helpful. The location is the best on Detroit Lake and offers lovely views. Can't go wrong here, first rate in every respect.
This was a great place to stay, every room faces the lake! We stayed in the 3rd floor suite with had two rooms, one with two beds, bathroom tv and closet. The other room had a kitchenette , sofa sleeper, tv and a few chairs and a Great Lake view from the patio. Would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to others.
I would definitely stay at The Lodge on Lake Detroit again and recommend it to others. The room and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable. Great access to beach/lake. Enjoyed a campfire in the evening. A spa available in the lower level. Lots of great choices for breakfast. The best coffee around - was excited they had Highland Grog!
My family stayed in the family suite for three nights. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was large, and there was a door between the living room area and the bedroom, which is great when your kids go to bed hours before you do. The property was well tended. The small beach was kept very clean. I had a great massage at the spa. The included breakfast offered a lot of choices. However, what set it apart for me was the great service after we left the hotel. When we landed at our home airport on Sunday, we realized we'd forgotten my son's irreplaceable, beloved stuffed bear in the bed at the hotel. I called the hotel on the drive home and spoke to Blake, who located the bear for me and arranged to mail it to our home in California. Four days later, the bear is safely home! Thank you Blake!
This was my first time to Detroit Lakes and I am still talking about this hotel and the view from my room. Beautiful hotel, great breakfast, excellent service, relaxing beach on the lake. Everything you could want when going up north. I will be back with the family next time!!
The owners of this property have ensured that the staff has everything totally perfect so you can just relax and enjoy your stay. From the clean room, to the well stocked breakfast layout, to the clean beach, and of course a staff who wants to make your stay great.
Loved this hotel! Rooms are great! Outdoor space and private beach area were perfect! There is complimentary use of paddle boats, paddle boards and kayaks. The breakfast was delicious. So many choices!
We had a wonderful stay here for 2 nights when visiting family for a graduation. Friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. The kitchen in our room was a welcomed surprise. The room was very large, plenty of space. Amenities in the bathroom were a nice upgrade as well!
Great view of the laket and they keep the beach clean. Had paddle boards, paddle boats, dock available for use and the kids liked the pool area. The breakfast was delicious and staff were helpful. Great stay!
I love the Lodge. We have been coming here as a couple since 2010. My husband grew up in northern Minnesota, when Detroit Lakes was the "big city". I think it still is... The community is charming and The Lodge's location is breathtaking. The staff are sincerely warm and friendly (including cleaning staff), and the rooms are tastefully decorated. You want for nothing when staying here. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we're in the area. I think you will find it as welcoming as we always have.
Stayed here for one night what a beautiful place right on the lake very clean large suite staff so nice it was so much better than my horrible stay in Williamsburg best western last week I was never going to stay at a best western again but this has renewed my opinion
We happened across this gem in our annual travels to DL area. The staff is incredibly friendly, the owner is 3rd generation original owners, the food is great, the rooms are very clean, comfortable beds, and the setting is very peaceful, relaxing, and fun! This is the perfect place for couples, families with small children, teens, grandparents, etc. There is a beautiful well manicured beach, lawn, firepits, grills, a huge dock if you rent a boat or pontoon (on the lake so no fuss getting the rental to the property), and included use of kayaks/paddle boats, and stand up paddle boards. They have a happy hour, live music on Thursday (which is very loud) in the bar area, and the breakfast is really good with a MN feel. They serve lefse some days! We ordered their crab dip and flatbread pizza one night and it was fantastic. They have a spa too incase you need any pampering or want to get a mani/pedi. You can't go wrong staying here, beats all the other options by a landslide. I can't say enough good things about this place! Fun for kids of all ages!
Stayed just one night but very comfy beds, beautiful wood trim, a bathroom that was AAA with glass shower and lovely granite vanity. Breakfast was typical....expected a little bit more on the buffet at a premier establishment.
I spent one night and attended an on-sight meeting the following day. Friendly and helpful staff checked me in while a wonderful live jazz reception was being held. I enjoyed a nice dinner with friends followed by a beautiful sunset over the lake. The facility worked well for an association meeting of 50 attendees the next day.
Really nice place right on the Lake. Beach area is small, but nice. The ability to take out the paddle boats was also very nice. Facility nice and s'mores at night was fun. Breakfast is good — higher than a Hampton Inn, a bit lower than a top-end facility. Worth the extra dollars to stay here.
We recently stayed here while in town for family graduation. We absolutely LOVED the suite rooms which included fridge space. The amenities including pool, beach, and water activities were fantastic. The customer service was also great the whole weekend stay. The hotel also includes a hot breakfast which is always a great plus while away for the weekend. Oh- and the bon fire area with complementary smores items was a huge plus!! Very pleased with this hotel and would stay again.
What a nice place to stay! It felt like Home. Beautiful views of the lake from either your room or lobby, cozy fireplace inside, modern & clean rooms, and friendly staff. I loved our stay and would definitely come here again!
The greatest hotel ever, love coming here and staying and look forward to coming back each month. I have been staying at this hotel every month for the past 10 years and it is wonderful, they treat you like family.
Great service and room. Great Staycation spot or weekend with/without kids. Fireside next door is an excellent restaurant, and our room offered great views. Breakfast was better than the usual offerings at other places.
Five-Star Service, attention, and amenities. Chris and Scott's Team puts a lot of hard work into this making this property the premier lodging choice for any future visit. They had absolutely everything we'd hoped for and more, with some little surprises that put this stay over the top!
This hotel has great ammenities and a very helpful staff. The smores bar is just an added bonus. They offer lake front views with kayaks and boat slips. They also have a variety of spa services and an indoor pool.
What a place to getaway to and just relax and refresh. Chris and Scott Mehlhaff definitely go out of their way to make our experience unforgetable...with music, food, comfortable rooms, beautiful views of the lake, and just a beautiful lodge...the lobby is great for the evening music and food. This Best Western is more than Premier! Everything is always kept up to date and like new.
Great property. Beautiful view of Lake Detroit from every room. Awesome lobby and great room with a piano, fireplace and small bar area. Complimentary breakfast was really good with something for everyone. Coffee was great! Room was beautiful. King bed, sofa, desk and chairs, big flat screen tv, great walk-in shower, wet bar with micro, fridge, Keurig and a balcony. In fact, all the rooms have either a balcony or patio depending on what floor you're on. Hotel sits just outside of town. There are plenty of restaurants within a 2-3 mile radius. Saturday night they had live entertainment from 6-8. Staff was great. But, we had a couple issues that prevented me from giving an excellent rating. First, I had booked our reservation online through Best Westerns website and received a confirmation but when we arrived at the hotel we found out they didn't have it. After about 15 minutes answering questions and listening to the front desk staff, Katrina, talk to the main reservation people on the phone, the reason the hotel never got our reservation was because the hotel had no internet. Whew! Katrina did manage to kind of check us in but the problem didn't get solved until Saturday. It was a little stressful and being rewards members we thought maybe they'd upgrade us for the inconvenience but nothing was offered. So be it. It was also very noisy even though it was not even half full. On Saturday we heard Katrina say to her manager that they only had 9 rooms booked. I know the hotel can't prevent people from slamming their doors or talking too loudly but I was woken up on Saturday morning at 5:21 by some woman who was talking on her phone in the hallway with the speaker on. How rude. Also, the room above us must have had elephants in it. Very loud elephants. You'd think the hotel would assign the rooms accordingly if it's not busy so as to avoid noise. I'd hate to hear how noisy the hotel is when they're busy. It is a really nice hotel though and would recommend it.
Hotel was amazing. Views from room were great and the room was a normal king room and we felt like we were staying in a suite. Other than our bed being made poorly we had no problems with our stay. Staff was excellent. Probably the cleanest hotel breakfast we've ever enjoyed. Amenities were spot on and the whole feel of the place was like staying at home. We will definitely be visiting again with more family.
Stayed here for a visit to DL for a hockey tourney. Didn't get to choose the hotel, but boy am I glad we wound up here! Warm and welcoming lobby. Luke at the front desk was the NICEST and very friendly and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast was gourmet (roasted veggies, andoulle sausage, etc.) and varied from day to day. Smores in the lobby each night and wine bar with light appetizers for purchase made it so you never had to leave. Spa on site. Rooms are very spacious and bedding is very comfy complete with plenty of pillows, info on sunset and a discount at the spa. Perfect for a getaway. I can only imagine what it's like in the summer!
Would stay here again. I hope to bring entire family to this hotel in summer. Service wonderful. Beautiful family suite. Great experience over all. Staff was wonderful and very accomadating even opening breakfast very early for just my daughter and I when we had very early hockey games.
Excellent place to stay. Comfortable beds, nice rooms, terrific hot tub, nice warm pool, cozy places to read a book or enjoy the fire or piano, excellent breakfast, owner and daytime desk clerk were very friendly and hospitable. I'd recommend it to anyone and hope that I have a chance to go back.
What a great stay we had at the Best western lodge!! Beautiful place, wonderful unique breakfast, wonderful atmosphere , big comfy rooms , big clean hot tub, warm fire place , plush towels , smore bar every night, coffee , infused water and fruit available all the time. We will be making this a family tradition.
The lodge was decorated for Christmas -the view was beautiful- breakfast was delicious- our room came with a very large jacuzzi, fireplace, and the most comfortable bed I've ever stayed at in a hotel.
This place is unique and surprisingly cozy. It has a wonderful lobby lounge and sitting area, good food, comfortable accommodations, and very attentive employees. Having stayed at a lot of generic hotels in the same price range, this one stands out as a welcome change from the ordinary.
We loved our room, the full breakfast, the staff, the lake, the fireplace in the lobby ... Next time, we will book a balcony room to hopefully avoid the noise of fellow travelers. Other than that, all was wonderful!
This hotel is beautifully decorated with Up North decor right on Lake Detroit. Loved staying there. It was spotlessly clean and well appointed. I would definitely stay there again if the need arises. Great stay!
Great motel. Always very clean. Staff is always friendly and remembers me by name. Only place I stay while in the area. I have stayed there many time over the last six years and have never had a problem.
We stayed here for a weekend trip to Itasca State Park to see the headwaters of the Mississippi. This is a beautiful and serence lodge. Super clean and comfortable. Spa like atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Don't stay in hotels often, but this is the nicest that i can remember. Bathrooms were up to date and the shower was great. Beds were comfortable, slept the whole night both nights. Very little noise heard thru the walls. Great view of the lake. Lobby was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Very friendly and helpful staff.
2nd time staying at this hotel and we were not disappointed. The rooms are very big and comfortable, you can even stay in your own room in the patio and still have a beautiful view of Detroit lakes. Awesome sunset views. breakfast are always very excellent! it makes you feel at home because you're using real cutleries. If you're in Detroit lakes, a must place to stay!
We were looking for a place on the lake and came across the Best Western. Have not stayed at a BW for a long time and this one was excellent. Great staff, beautiful room and decor, and fantastic view of Detroit Lake. If you go to Detroit Lakes this is the best place to stay.
Beautiful location. Each room has a view of the lake from a private balcony. Lovely to sit out at night and enjoy the sunset. Although there is no restaurant on site, their are many to choose from within close driving distance. there is a bar in the lobby area, and it was nice to have a drink and sit by the fireplace. Breakfast was lovely. Plenty of food and excellent coffee choices. Would definatly stay again. Was such a lovely stay, it was hard to leave
Beautiful inside and out. The fall foliage changing as you gaze out your balcony onto the lake is breath taking. The staff is wonderful and the entire experience was lovely. I can not wait to go back. This is what a getaway is suppose to be like!
We totally enjoyed our stay at this delightful Lodge! The very comfortable room, fabulous view of the sunset and Autumn colours in the yard, great breakfast and a s'mores bar--what a novel idea!! The oak motif in the decorating is so unique and in keeping with the rest of the decor! Truly a spot to come back to!
Great location, beautiful hotel with lake views and balcony, large gathering space in lobby, excellent complimentary breakfast, fantastic lighting in rooms, ahhhhhmazingly comfortable beds, friendly and accommodating staff.
Everything about this hotel was awesome....the decorating, room set-up, view, breakfast, great bathroom, the bed was very comfortable. The entire facility was very clean. The staff was friendly and conscientious.
We took a chance and booked the Lodge because it had a spa for the wives while the guys golfed. Had a wonderful time. Close to good restaurants and the complimentary breakfast excellent. We stayed in 3 of the lake access rooms. Beds wonderful and the walk in shower is a great asset. Only issue we had was some of the staff needed a bit more training. If they couldn't charge it back to your room they didn't know how to run a till. Would be nice if the bar opened up before 5:00.
I stay at this hotel at least once a month. The rooms are clean and decorated tastefully. The staff is always very helpful and professional. Beautiful view of Detroit Lake with gorgeous sunsets The also have a delicious hot breakfast.
The hotel was very good. I like it a lot. In my opinion one of the best of Detroit Lakes. Very good rooms, nice internet etc. The breakfast could be better, but it is good too. No problem with that. At night, they have a very good S'Mouse.
One of our favorite hotels anywhere. Beautiful decor and exquisite grounds with natural plantings and great beach. Away from the rest of the DL hotels and restaurants so very peaceful and quiet. Wonderful breakfast, great staff; can't say enough positive about this place.
This is my fourth time staying here. I have now been on most of the floors. This time we were on the third floor. I loved the balcony outside the room. It is a marvelous and romantic spot to watch the sunset and have an evening glass of wine. Very helpful staff. We brought a bottle of wine and they gave us two wine glasses to use in our room. A bald eagle flew by our balcony on two different days. We saw a blue heron twice. The real treat was the loons calling both mornings and one evening. Best reason to sleep with your balcony door open. We needed directions to a place in DL and the staff were able to help. Rooms were great and clean. Beds extremely comfortable. I also liked the breakfast. We ate on the balcony both mornings.
I stay in Detroit Lakes regularly for business. This is THE place to stay. Every room overlooks the lake. Friendly, yet quiet atmosphere. Not typical of a chain hotel, this one is detail focused, from the fruit water in the lobby and s'mores at night, to the Cottonelle toilet paper.
The Lodge never disappoints. The beds are comfortable, the decor is very "Minnesota Lake" - but elegant, not cheesy. We enjoy having the balcony view of the lake. The breakfast is substantail with many choices. We will stay here again.
We stayed here for a quick overnight while on vacation. Check in was fast and friendly. There was a minor issue with our first room and we were immediately switched to a second room. They indicated that they also would give us a 10% discount for the trouble (we didn't ask for the discount). The room was clean and very nice. The hot tub in the room was outstanding! The balcony overlooking the lake was nice. The Smore' bar was cute and out of the ordinary. Breakfast was significantly better than the typical hotel breakfast. Upon checkout we didn't get the 10% discount that was indicated at check in. That was disappointing, but I didn't complain because we hadn't asked for a discount for a minor problem. Overall it was a great night!
Everything was excellent at this motel. Very friendly people at the check in. The motel is beautiful and located right on the lake. The breakfast was excellent and you can tell that extra efforts have been made to make the breakfast stand out. There is also a small bar open in the evenings and that was also a nice touch. Overall, the staff was excellent, the rooms were clean and nicely decorated, the entire stay was way above average. We also had a business meeting and staff came in and helped with the technology.
Loved this place for a little family getaway. We had the king room with kitchen, great to have a fully stocked kitchen (stovetop but not oven) to make kids lunch, wash baby bottles, etc. The family 2 room suite was booked but we will definitely request that next time just to have another room and a balcony. Make sure to ask if your room has balcony. All rooms have gorgeous lake views and sunsets. Train goes by but is not loud, and my 2 year old boy loved watching them.
Nice place for a getaway, relaxing, and they have everything your need in one place. Location is very easy to access, planing on laying out on their beach today. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub, I would have wanted the water a bit warmer
This is a very nice resort on the northeast side of Detroit Lakes (near Holiday Inn), on the East shore. The grounds are lovely with a nice, clean sandy beach. There are complimentary paddle boards, kayaks, and paddle boat for guest's use, with we really enjoyed. The buffet complimentary breakfast is above average, with a lovely variety of choices, along with organic coffee. The handicap accessible room was very comfortable with the most accomodating amenities we have seen. We enjoyed a walk out main level room to the lawn and beach area. Patio furniture outside our door to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The grounds are groomed but also pay special attention to maintaining natural habitat which is gorgeous. There is a nice nature hiking path to highlight this effort. Walking or short driving distance to many restaurants, convenience stores, and just about everything you need. The onsite spa looked lovely, although we did not use the services. The staff was very friendly and there were special touches throughout the resort, such as refreshing "lemon grass" wash towels at the front desk to refresh your face and skin after an outing, a complimentary nightly "Smore" bar (roasting your own marshmellows), and live music on Thursday nights in the lounge. This place has my highest recommendation.
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The location is great but the staff is awesome. They have free paddleboards, kayaks, docks, campfires and music. The rooms view the lake and décor is really nice. I'd have extended my stay another day if we didn't have a full itinerary.
Always a great place to stay for work. Feels like vacation. Staff is great and the views are gorgeous. There is a beautiful restaurant near by, walking distance. Fireside, great combination. This is my only choice for the area.
Great location, great facilities, great service, would not stay anywhere else when in DL. You can't go wrong in choosing The Lodge. Wish we were living closer so we could stay there more often, friends put us on this place and we can't thank them enough!
Stayed here on business and really wished my family could have come along. It's an awesome place. S'mores at night. Beautiful private beach. Spacious and super comfortable room. Fantastic breakfast. The cranberry wild rice bread was amazing. Staff was very nice.
So glad we decided to stay here. It was a real gem! The Lodge room decor was up to date and very tasteful. The quality of the resort was excellent. The breakfast buffet was hand crafted by a chef. The view was beautiful and peaceful. Proximity to the one-mile beach drive with shops, restaurants, parks and marina in Detroit Lakes was a plus.
From the fabulous massage at the on-site spa to the eagles playfully flying around near the on-site sandy beach, this was just what I needed to get away from it all for a few very nice days. Great place for solos, couples, and families alike.
This is a lovely, well designed and maintained hotel in a great location. Rooms are great, breakfast is fabulous, view is beautiful. Beach needs more maintenance and could be better and more water equipment.
I highly recommend this BW lodge on the lake for anyone who would like to enjoy a Minnesota lake experience. Nice little beach on the property, free paddle boarding and kayaking for guests, great rooms, comfy beds, and excellent free breakfast. Their professional staff is also outstanding.
My children and I stayed here on our cross country train trip. The location was amazing. The views were breath taking! The staff was friendly. It is a well maintained and well appointed property. I would highly recommend a stay at The Lodge.
Very nice, relaxing place to stay, but was a bit spendy. Had all the amenities, staff was very friendly and professional. The bed and whirlpool in the room was amazing! Really wished it would have been warmer out, so we could've enjoyed the beach area.
If you look at my many reviews, you will see that a common complaint of mine is the "prefab" breakfasts at so many hotels. This one was not at all prefab! The coffee was great, the food was not just run of the mill. Scrambled eggs with basil and tomato. wild rice sausage, roasted vegetables and cheesy potatoes (they were a bit much). Beautiful room. Wonderful staff.
My room was located next to the kitchen and dining area. Noises such as people talking and kitchen staff stomping back and forth were so audible that it sounded as if they were right on top of us. these noises woke us up by 6:00 AM each morning and falling back asleep was impossible. Additionally, hotel guests would often gather outside our room to conversate, creating even more noise and discomfort. This specific room (208) should either be offered at a large discount or guests should be warned of it's noisy conditions
Everyone was great - best hotel breakfast I have ever had. Even though the weather was poor and we couldn't take advantage of the lake this weekend, the hotel was comfortable and we still had a great time at the spa, pool, and spending time together in the comfortable common areas overlooking the lake. I'm so glad we chose to spend the weekend at The Lodge and would recommend it to others!
Overall it was a good stay, and will probably go back, maybe with our kids next time around. The one thing that knock it down a notch for us was the bed. A little too firm for us. Maybe we are just used to our Sleep number bed, but both of us woke up with sore backs. It was much better than the budget hotels as those are like sleeping on cement. But we expected a little better for the price we paid for our stay.
Beautiful lakeside, wooded setting. Room full of amenities made for total comfort. Lobby and bar area gorgeous. Breakfast was extraordinary in providing so many choices. Sandy beach with comfortable lounge chairs. Lakeshore management efforts admirable. Mother duck and ducklings nesting nearby provided additional interest. Quiet room and outdoor environment. Small bar, but big on congeniality. Twig chairs and rockers in beautiful lobby were charming.
Perfect way to escape from busy life, with the view of the calm lake, very comfortable beds, nice bathroom, the ambience is really relaxing. The option to do spa downstairs. Just sit in the balcony and appreciate nature!
Had a great stay! Beautiful building and grounds. Lots to do and incredible lake access. Complimentary kayaks and SUPs a bonus! Stayed over Memorial Day weekend and plan on going back in mid-June. Definitely our lakes area hotel of choice.
As nice of a hotel as you will find in North Western Minnesota, let alone Detroit Lakes proper. Clean, great hot tub, fitness area. Lake front was a plus. The drive to the downtown area where the conference was held was pretty as well
Lovely hotel. The decor is rustic but not in a cheesy way. There are lot of log and wood accents. The lobby area has a beautiful stone fireplace and wonderful hand-made willow furniture. I didn't use the pool or the spa but both looked very nice. All of the staff we came into contact with, even the housekeeping staff we passed in the hallways, were friendly and pleasant. The surroundings are gorgeous. All of the rooms have a view of the lake, and the grounds are well-kept. The small beach is very nice and has quite a few chairs and loungers. There are stand-up paddle boards and pedal boats that guests can use for free. The water is shallow and calm enough for children to play in. One evening around 9pm, I wandered the halls looking at the very interesting pictures on the walls provided by the Detroit Lakes Historical Society. The entire hotel was almost completely silent. I am a light sleeper and in most hotels can hear doors closing in the hall, voices in the next room, etc. I didn't hear a single thing in this hotel, except for the rain driving against the patio doors and the thunder, but I don't think any amount of soundproofing would have deadened the noise of that colossal thunderstorm! The room was very spacious, even with two queen beds, which is a refreshing change from many hotels where you can barely move around. There was a convenient kitchen area with microwave, fridge, and sink. All rooms have balconies as far as I could tell. The night lights under the bathroom counters were a nice touch. The marble countertops had lots of room for toiletries and the fan in the bathroom actually worked! There could be more hooks to hang towels, pyjamas, wet bathing suits, etc. but otherwise I had no complaints about the room and they seem to have thought of just about everything. The breakfast was the best I've had for free at a hotel. There was a wide selection of hot and cold items and the quality was good. There was a waffle station, toast, pastries, fruit, cold cereal, cooked oatmeal (not packets of instant to microwave), scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs, and grilled vegetables that seemed like fesh and not frozen. I found the potatoes to be too salty but otherwise good. Everything was tasty, fresh, and properly cooked. They even had real plates and cutlery and cloth napkins, although paper plates and plastic utensils were available for those who wanted to grab something to go. I would definitely recommend this hotel. For the area, it's a 5-star hotel and I had absolutely no complaints. However, keep in mind that it's not quite the same 5-star experience as Fairmont Banff Springs or Chateau Frontenac. :)
This is a great place to stay, very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, delicious free breakfast. Now if Best Western could do something about the weather, our trip would have been perfect. It was cold and raining for our whole vacation. Bettter luck next time as we are planning on returning.
This was our second stay here; both were part of a family gathering related to to events at Concordia College in Moorhead (about 55 minutes away). We did not stay here during summer months, but it looked as though the beach and boating activities were very inviting. Our grandchildren LOVED that they opened a "s'mores" station for an hour at night and they loved the pool. We used a suite where our children and 2 grandchildren shared a room (2 queen beds) and we the grandparents slept on a hide-a-bed in the living room/kitchen part of the suite. We have recommended to the hotel that they buy a mattress topper for the hide-a-bed (would have been fine for children). The suite had a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake and the bathroom and amenities were outstanding. Breakfast was excellent (grand chidren LOVED the mini waffle maker and we had the best breakfast casserole ever! I want the recipe). There is a busy train track nearby, but it did not bother us, since our room faced the lake). The staff were all so friendly and helpful and competent. The best Best Western we have been in!
The best Western on Detroit Lake MN is a great facility . The rooms have been completely refurbished and updated and well worth staying there . The bathroom was upgraded to a higher vanity and comfort height toilets which is great for those of us of an age .
We had so much fun in Detroit Lakes! I wish the prices could be a little lower at the Lodge but overall it is a wonderful experience. Great views and fun little things to do. We will definitely be back!
I've stayed here a couple times and hosted family and friends hereThis is a beautiful hotel with rooms and spaces that feel both luxurious and extremely comfortable. The rooms are beautiful and always perfectly clean. The spa is a wonderful indulgence, at reasonable prices. Ive always had amazing customer service from the first call, to the front desk, management, staff and housekeeping.
I Have been staying with them every month or more for a year and a half. Always friendly, professional service. Clean rooms at an affordable price. They have a small kitchen but the food is still very good.
this motel was just perfect for what we needed.. a beautiful ,clean room ... very quiet and the balcony was so wonderful to watch the sunset.. we only had one night .. but would have loved to stay more
Terrific service; great staff who were very accommodating of meeting all requests. I'd highly recommend this hotel to any other company considering a conference in the Detroit Lakes area. Make sure you ask for the hotel conference coordinator.
Really enjoyed our stay. We will be back. Jim - days at the front desk was very helpful, Room - Breakfast were great. The Detroit Lakes area are a good stay and in my opinion this is buy far the best hotel in the area,
Great place to stay if you can get in during season. Great place during off season as well Room are nice and clean. Easy to get in and out of and close to local places to eat. Great hotel on the lake and best in the area.
Great stay at The Lodge, will be going back. Four of the group has massages which were wonderful. We have a family suite which worked out great for the six of us. We also brought a blow up mattress and it fit in the "kids" room along with the pull out couch. Kitchen was well stocked, however it lacked paper towels. We had the best time!
This is not your typical Best Western. I go out of my way and plan my business trip when I'm in the surrounding area so I can stay at this property. I'm never disappointed! The property is beautifully maintained and has a fabulous lake view. The rooms are very spacious, super clean, updated linens, and include extra amenities in the bathroom, including lighted make-up mirrors! The breakfast included offers a lot of variety and delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place 110%!
I was in town for business and the room was average. The bathroom vent was dirty and something sticky on the bathroom floor was the first thing I noticed when walking into the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights rest. The bar needs help. It was hard to order food off the menu because they were out of almost everything. I ordered a cheese burger that came served open with shredded cheese and some kind of bun that certainly was not a hamburger bun. Oh and no chips. Definitely eat somewhere else. Overall 3/5
This hotel is one of the cleanest and friendliest I have ever stayed in. I stayed there last week for business. I did arrive in town early and stopped in to confirm the time for check in and to tell them that due to work, I would not be able to check in until the evening. I was there about noon and they told me my room was already ready and that I could check in right then if I wished. I did and was greeted my a few very friendly staff members. During my stay, I forgot the wall plug for many of my devices - I had packed only my USB cords. That ended up not being a problem as they have a box under the TV that you can charge your devices that way. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the view of the lake was delightful. Continental breakfast was very hearty and satisfying! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Detroit Lakes.
I always stay here when I am in the area. The hotel is located on a large lake. The hotel is clean, the staff is efficient and helpful, and the beds are comfortable. All areas and rooms are well appointed. The variety of breakfast items should please everyone. I enjoy eating off of china plates, using real silverware, and cloth napkins. The S'mores party at eight o'clock is a nice touch.
My husband and I went north to see the beautiful Fall Foliage this year and came upon the Lodge at the last minute. We hadn't booked a hotel for the night, so found this one through Hotels.com and were thrilled!!! It was so unique and rustic in appearance, yet spacious with a wonderful view of the water from our balcony. The bed was a pillow top that was so comfortable. We wish we could've stayed longer!!
The Lodge on Lake Detroit was magnificent! Comfortable rooms, gorgeous baths, and the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see. The 38 women who enjoyed 3 days of knitting, visiting and eating had a wonderful time.
I was fortunate to be able to attend an event at this location for 3 nights. It was a brilliant decision to design the hotel so that every room looks out over the lake. The rooms are beautiful, beds are extremely comfortable, and the staff can't possibly be any more accommodating.
Found this hotel near a wedding we were attending. It's adorable. Lodge look and feel, great view of the lake, and a cozy lounge with a fireplace and s'mores you can make with the kids. Used the gym, good for basic needs. Breakfast was fine. Hotel was clean, staff were polite. Would recommend.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are hospital clean. Full breakfast is included with room stay and is excellent. It would be nice to have phone books in the rooms and transportation services available like some other top hotels. With no phone book, you really have to scratch to find taxi services. Being the hotel is two miles from main town, it would be nice if the hotel management would run a small bus to/from and around town and would be a success. Also, it would be nice to have a restaurant available at the hotel 24 hrs. Breakfast closes at 10:30 am and lunches the rest of the day are not available. Overall staying here was a good experience.
We rarely can find a hotel which easily accommodates our four young boys and ourselves. Our suite was perfect, and the complimentary breakfast was a BONUS! This is the fourth hotel I have stayed at this past year (in different areas of the country) and the beds at The Lodge (mattress, pillows, sheets were BY FAR the most comfortable. We stayed for a family wedding, so the boys did not have time to swim, but next ime, we will make sure to bring our swimsuits. The view of Detroit Lake is peaceful and beautiful. I have stayed at the Lodge in previous years, and have loved taking advantage of the spa as well.
I typically stay at Holiday Inn properties but heard good things about this Best Western. I will always stay here from now on when in the Detroit Lakes area! Nice wine reception and lounge area overlooking the lake. The best breakfast buffet complete with lefse- so you know you are getting back to your roots. There is a spa downstairs if you need time to relax and refresh - complimentary paddle boats and paddle boards to enjoy the lake and really the best sunset views I've seen for awhile! Be sure to drive over to Zorbaz to complete your visit!
Pros - new property in very good condition - extremely friendly and accommodating staff from reception, to dining room, breakfast and housekeeping - quiet rooms - clean rooms (aside from a little dust on the lamp shade) - comfortable bed - modern vanity and shower - spacious room - iced citrus water available 24/7 - make-your-own s'mores bar in the evening - delicious flatbread Cons - There is a train track along the highway, so get a room away from the highway. Even though, my room was close to the tracks and when I closed my balcony door, I could not hear the train. - The PC in the business center doesn't have MS Office. Not a big deal, I saved my Excel file as pdf and was able to print it. - The baby kale salad was not kale. It was romain lettuce.
This Best Western reeks of luxury. Our room was large, comfortable king bed; had a great view (with balcony); large walk-in shower; lot's of bathroom counter space. Beautiful lobby and nice pool + hot tub.
OMG. What a jewel. I was skeptical when I saw Best West but, when it was followed by Premier I decided to give it a chance. It's a small hotel. Maybe 15 rooms. It has a wood lodge look but with all the modern amenities including a bar and player piano. It has a small beach area with chairs. Lake Detroit is beautiful. Nice find on our way from Minneapolis to itasca state park.
This hotel is located on the lake and has its own private beach and picnic areas. There are a few room options - we had a beautiful room with a king bed, fireplace and jet tub. The decor was 'woodsie' - appropriate for a log-style lodge and very comfortable. The only downside is the medal furniture on the deck. We took pillows from the bed to soften the seats. The hotel offers a beautiful foyer, spa, bar and small indoor pool and restaurant. Breakfast is available as part of the stay. Staff are helpful.
Wonderful room with beautiful view of the lake. Balcony nice to sit and watch the sunset. Loved the s'mores bar. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Beach is nice and they have paddle boards and kayaks for guests use. Exceeded all our expectations. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all the amenities.
We were really looking forward to a staying on Detroit Lake in the summer since we hadn't been there before. I chose a two queen room on the first floor so we only had to step across the lawn to get to the beach. When we got to the room we were very impressed with the furnishings and decor. Unlike any other motel room we had been in. Real artwork on the walls, cut logs made up the furniture in the room and bathroom. But we spent time in/on the lake when we checked in at 3pm. The water was full of algae and weeds, so it was tough to swim, but the beach was nice with many loungers. We were pleasantly surprised that we could use the stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and paddle boats for no charge. We did use a paddle board and a paddle boat. There is also a dock where other boats can pull up to. We also just sat on the lawn in the shade to read. The whole atmosphere was very relaxed on a summer afternoon. I did swim in the indoor pool and sat in the hot tub. That room was very nice with wood accents on the walls. The beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet to sleep. Breakfast was excellent with real dishes and silverware, eggs, cooked vegetables, meat on a steam table. There were also the usual motel continental breakfast items, but we had the hot food. This motel is in an awesome location, only a few minutes from town, which you could easily bike.
We loved everything about this hotel - when you check in they have cold lemongrass clothes which hit the spot after being in the car for a few hours. Rooms and hotel are done in wood/pine throughout which gives it a rustic charm. All rooms face the lake; we were on the second floor and had a great view. Room was very clean, lots of pillows, all the amenities in the bathroom (nice large shower). The lodge works hard to be environmentally friendly in the products it uses/supplies, how it recycles and serves some organic items in the bar and breakfast buffet. They have four kayaks and four paddle boards that are free to guests. They also have a couple peddle boats giving you lots of options if you want to get out on the lake. There is a nice beach area with chairs and picnic tables. They also have two fire pits. And between 8-9pm you can make smores which I thought was a pretty neat treat. Hot breakfast is included and had good options; waffles, fresh baked goods, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, sausage, cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit. There is also a bar/lounge area where you can order food in the evening and have a drink while looking at the lake. Was a 10 minute walk to the Fireside Restaurant. Really enjoyed our one night and would definitely be back!
Lodge decor and ambience was a plus. All rooms have lake view. Extra amenities available. Evening s'mores a fun touch. Paddle boards and boats available to use on the lake. Breakfast included. No restaurant on site, but town is a short distance by car.
A business associate and I planned to stop where we ended up on the day we were there. We ended up in Detroit Lake and had a little trouble finding a place we wanted to stay. We accidentally ended up at The Lodge and were thrilled. The hotel is gorgeous and the views were amazing. We both ended up with rooms with balconies facing the lake. The property is private with its own beach and has lovely amenities, most of which we didn't have time to try. While we enjoyed dinner on the lobby balcony, the food was not very good. But, the breakfast included with our room the next morning was great. If I ever have the opportunity to be around the area in the future, I will be back.
We have stayed at this property for several years during We Fest and enjoyed it very much. The staff is always friendly and pleasant. The property is easy to find and has easy access. We did enjoy. There are other properties in the areaa but i do think The Lodge is the best valu.
We spent a weeknight @ the lodge and were very impressed....we loved the view from the balcony, we watched the sunset and in the morning were entertained by the loons diving in the lake just off the shore. The room was clean the amenities were available. Breakfast was very good. We are considering returning next year for a longer visit to be able to take in more of the sites and be able to make use of the spa @ the lodge
Wonderful North Woods Lodge on Lake Detroit. The rooms are top notch; custom North Woods decor, granite, glass ceramic tile shower. Very friendly helpful staff. Lots of amenities for the guests to use including: kayaks, paddleboat, SUP's, boat slips, beach area. Fantastic view of the lake from all the rooms with balconies or patios. The Spa Within is fantastic!!!!!! Ordered food from Lola's, very good. Pool area is small but nice.
We wanted to get away for a few days and chose this hotel. It was a great choice! The rooms are spacious and clean. We had a ground floor unit that walked right out onto the hotel's sandy beach area. The hotel offered free paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, and fire pits in the evening. They also had an outstanding breakfast buffet. At 8PM every evening there was a small smores buffet for the kids to enjoy. It was a great time and we would stay here again.
We had a family group and stayed in 3 rooms at The Lodge for 3 nights. It started off right, by the staff ensuring our rooms were not just close together (as we had requested) but that they connected so we could vacation as a family. And, it got even better! The rooms are very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The location on the lake is the BEST. We had great views of the beach and lake from our patio. There are free kayaks and paddle boards for use by hotel guests. We're already talking about another trip we enjoyed it so much. This place exceeded our expectations and there's not a thing I'd change.
We stayed at the Best Western Premier Lodge in Detroit Lakes the beginning of July. We have stayed at that hotel before and we know it is a nice hotel. The reason I am writing this is because Robyn was extremely helpful in a tough situation. She was easy to work with and made our stay very enjoyable. I appreciate all she did to help us out. I enjoy this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
The Lodge is such a wonderful place to stay directly on Lake Detroit. The rooms are beautiful, the lobby welcoming with a great view, and the staff is always very friendly. We go with a large family, and it is so fun to meet in the breakfast room, at the bar or play board games in the lobby! Best place to stay in DL!
We had an amazing time at the lodge. It was over July 4 weekend and it was still quiet. Perfect for a family getaway. We used the hotel's kayaks and paddle boards every day, swam in the pool and hot tub, got massages at the spa. Love being able to relax on the porch and seeing the lake.
Doug at the Holiday inn screwed up our reservation over the biggest weekend of the year at the Lake! Robin at the lodge came to our rescue and found us the last 3 rooms at their hotel! The place is gorgeous a total hidden treasure! Jim and Mari were so accommodating! You would never have known the hotel was full! The rooms are gorgeous free breakfast a fun little bar from 5-10 and a spa. We had fun on the free paddle boards. We got s boat slip and it was clean and easy to use. Loved the s'more parties and the free fire pits. For the same money we will never go back to holiday inn. Thanks for the incredible and relaxing vacation!
Stay here every couple of years and it is always excellent. Friendly staff, excellent location on the Big Detroit Lake. 1st floor rooms (and maybe others) have full kitchens for maximum flexibility. Can not go wrong here.
We had a family reunion in Detroit Lakes and as it turns out, most of our family had reserved rooms at the Lodge. With rooms that opened to the beach, it was perfect for kids. The Lodge offered free boats to use on the lake. We look forward to staying there in the future.
We had a family get-together and decided to stay here instead of a hotel downtown somewhere. It was a great decision. There was something for everyone to do. The rooms are all facing the lake and very comfortable. All of us agreed we could do this again.
Our daughter is attending Concordia Language Villages (Chinese Immersion Camp) in Calloway,MN this week. Instead of flying back and forth to South Texas, I decided to stay the week nearby and get some MUCH needed RR. My mother recommended this hotel, which is a Best Western. To be frank, Best Western hotels are not very nice in Texas. So I was leery. As the hotel snob that I am, I must admit, this hotel passes the test. First off, it faces Detroit Lake and has a small BEACH front entrance! There are picnic tables, barbque grills, paddle boats, etc! It is lovely. There is a decent sized indoor pool and hot tub. My daughter enjoyed it after a day of flying. It was clean and enjoyable. All rooms have a view of the lake (and I think balcony or patio). The breakfast room offers outdoor seating that looks over the lake. The breakfast that is included with your room currently offers Gluten Free options! The food was above average. I wished there had been a expresso machine or Cappuccino machine (even if I had to pay for those separately I would have). A tiny bar is located in the Great room that has a grand piano and fireplace. You can watch the sunset from there or your room. The rooms have mini fridges, coffee makers, lots of lamps, etc. The bathrooms are spacious. Everything is very clean. The front desk staff, bartender, housekeepers all seemed to genuinely care about you. I'll be back next summer.
My husband and I were in Detroit Lakes for a family reunion and stayed here for two nights on Father's Day weekend. It has lakeview rooms, complimentary breakfast and some other perks, including offering spa services, etc. What a nice find outside of town! It's quiet, with environmentally friendly bath items, in-room refrigerators, complimentary wifi, and rentable lake items. We will definitely stay there again.
My wife and I have stayed numerous times at The Lodge on Detroit Lakes and always enjoyed it. The staff, breakfast and rooms are excellent. I highly recommend The Lodge for anyone desiring a lakefront, resort experience!
Located right on Detroit Lake, the BW Premier Lodge was an outstanding value for the price. We were able to get a walk-out room to the lakefront which is all in traditional lodge style. The help provided by the check-in staff of Valerie and Mari was much more than expected. They also pointed out some sites to see and visit while in the main part of town. The property is fairly new (10YO) and very well maintained inside and out. The pool/Jacuzzi area is inside and also well kept and managed. They have a bar that serves delicious Denver Bulldogs and Tequila Sunrises for a romantic interlude in the beautiful lounge area in front of the rock fireplace. You can watch the sun set to the west while sipping and chatting with your loverly. Sunday breakfast comes with the room ($$) and you notice I didn't say anything like a "continental breakfast" because it certainly wasn't. Enjoy your visit to the Detroit Lakes area at the BWPL properties.
We had a wonderful mid-week experience. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and well appointed...love the jazz upon arrival. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing-spa, lobby/bar, gorgeous views/sunsets from our balcony, loungers on the beach. We rented a pontoon for a 1/2 day and it was convenient to use The Lodge's dock. A nice walking path right outside the front doors. The unlimited fresh fruit flavored water, tea, coffee bar as well as the evening s'more bar were nice touches. The breakfast had many healthful and appetizing options. We will definitely be back for another dose of lakeside relaxation!
A first-class rural Minnesota resort hotel, The Lodge on Lake Detroit has lakeside rooms, resort amenities, meeting space for business, and excellent service. Rooms are well designed and appointed. I like the little touches at The Lodge such as the historic photos in the common areas and rooms. Complementary breakfast is among the best you'll find. Limited bar service most evenings. Top notch hospitality from a well-trained staff. Thank you, Robin!
This was my second stay at this hotel. I average 40 nights a year in hotels all across America. I would put this hotel in my top three. Everything about this hotel is first class. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. My room had a kitchenette that had everything you would need to fix and eat a meal. It even had a dish washer. The towels are plush, the bed comfortable. and everything worked. The place is spotless. It is located on a large lake. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
My wife and I totally enjoyed our 2 night stay recently...the view and the hotel were both fabulous and the hot breakfast was a great way to start another beautiful day in Detroit Lake ! We'll be back :)
Everything was perfect from the time I walked in the door. The facility was clean, nicely decorated, well maintained. Everyone was very friendly. Upon checkout the desk person was very interested in what we thought.
I love staying at this property, the hotel is well maintained and the staff are super friendly. Great amenities and a fabulous view and small beach area. The breakfast is a great variety and the small bar in the hotel offers a number of snacks in the evening which is handy. Pool and hot tub are a bonus for cold or rainy days. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Right on Detroit Lake. Every room has a view. Very spacious and comfortable. Staff is very professional and helpful. Great for family or pampering. Many elite services in-house - massages, facials, etc. Recommend trying Spanky's for dinner - great food.
I stayed at the Lodge for business last Tuesday. I was a late check in so missed out on the amazing views. I woke up and was running like a mad woman trying to get on the road when I saw the sun rising over the lake...I was stunned! The staff was awesome, rooms clean and beautiful but nothing beat that amazing view! I will be back.
You will not regret staying here. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This hotel, staff and service are better than most top hotels around the world I have stayed in. What it makes it amazing is not the beautiful, clean, spacious rooms with an amazing view of the lake...isn't not the wonderful, attentive staff....it's not the amazing breakfast buffet (included in your stay) nor the stunning lobby...its the LITTLE DETAILS that amaze you around every turn. Like hot, lemon towels so you can freshen up while checking in, it's the soft jazz music playing as you enter your room upon arrival, it's the infused water they have available, the lighted make-up mirror in the bathroom and a nightly smore bar! Don't get me started on the bathroom...it's like a spa! I wanted to take the shower head with me and the shower...it fits more than one person! :) The hotel is located in a wonderful location so you can enjoy a run/walk along the lake and build up your appetite for the breakfast buffet! It is HUGE! And, the staff was so well executed that no matter what time you came...it looked like it just opened. Everything was fresh. It had a yogurt bar, waffles, pastries, quiche, sausage/bacon, oatmeal, english muffins, roasted veg's and potatoes, 6 different coffees, juice, variety of tea, and LEFSE! A Minnesota/Norwegian tradition. And, if you want family or friends to join you who aren't staying at the hotel...they may pay $10 for the buffet. The pool was nice...not huge and the only thing I can recommend is a clock in the pool area so we knew we had to leave although we didn't want to. Can't wait to return!
Did not ask member # so I didn't get credit for stays (1-2 week each) x 6. However, the sunset view room over the lake was beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable . Staff were nice. The breakfasts last year had too much meat and eggs and not enough healthy choices. But this year they have added roasted vegetables, nuts, raisins and oatmeal to the already plentiful fruits and dry cereals with waffles and pastries.
Beatiful view, clean rooms and friendly staff. I go to Detroit Lakes, MN at least once a month and I have stayed at this facility every time. I don't have anything bad to say about my mutiple visits to this hotel. Exellent!!
was a very nice and intimate setting. All of the staff was nice and helpful, the view of the lake from this hotel was beautiful and its close to alot of the places everyone wants to go to. Def would recommend staying here.
We had the best time at The Lodge on the Lake! It was clean and comfortable. The lake was clear and the kids got to put their feet in and play in the sand. I would definitely recommend to others. The food was tasty and pool area was relaxing. It would be great in the summer!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at The Lodge very much. The view is always beautiful any time of the year. The hotel staff was very friendly. We also had a few Spa services which was an added treat. Will definitely return!
Ali was pleasant and professional over the phone and booked our on-the-spot reservation with no hassle. The room was AMAZING as were the amenities. I would recommend this place to everyone! Loved the smores and the elaborate breakfast.
Great staff, a superb view of the sunsets and outstanding surroundings. A wonderful place to spend a weekend just relaxing and unwinding. Couldn't ask for more courteous service and everything works and is up to date. Can't wait to go back for another fabulous weekend.
I give this hotel a 10. Every stay has been wonderful. I traveled here for business but would definitely consider this hotel for a pleasure trip as well. The staff went out of their way to assist when assistance was needed. I loved the breakfast selections--both hot and cold items were available. There were lots of breakfast items to choose from--even great healthy choices too.
We stayed here for our anniversary. It was WONDERFUL! Peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Really clean. BEDS ARE SO COMFORTABLE! Pool area was clean, air was clear (no strong chemicals). Breakfast was really tasty with lots of variety (hot and cold). Different kind of sausage every day. What a treat. BUT THE BEST PART was the service. The staff were excellent! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We had a fantastic weekend!
All was good, Staff members are very professional. Very nice place to stay. Hot tub is large and spacious. Breakfast is good. Would have liked to visit the spa to get a massage, hopefully the next time I stay in DL I will be able to schedule this time for myself.
The hotel is really nice. The rooms themselves are spacious, including a small balcony, fridge and microwave, and a sink as well as a desk. The grounds are really nice, and you're only a quick 6 minute drive from the central DL beach. Breakfast is very good and complimentary which is always nice. Lots of natural sunlight, big windows. The heated pool and hot tub are also a nice touch.
The Lodge had a Great Valentines Day dinner. The staff took the time to get to know our names and had a genuine interest in us. The rooms were very clean . Check in staff were very friendly. We had the chance to meet the owners and were so impressed. We highly recommend the Lodge!
Beautiful hotel, great service, friendly, wonderful location, cleaning very comfortable. They also gave town information like restaurants ,shoppes, ect. In my option the setting of the Hotel was a big part of my stay. The pool and the hot tub were also clean and inviting. The breakfast was good for a continental . I would love to stay at this Hotel the next time i come to Detroit Lakes.
I am really not sure how Elizabeth J. could rate this hotel so low... I have stayed at The Lodge at least 6 times for business while in Detroit Lakes. I have always been treated fantastic! The staff has gone above and beyond getting me rooms during their busy seasons. When you walk in, you will be overwhelmed by the relaxing atmosphere. It is a gorgeous hotel, with fantastic rooms and even better staff. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are always very clean. I am not sure what I would do if I couldn't stay at The Lodge when visiting. There is simply not a better hotel in the area. I suspect Elizabeth J. may be working on behalf of other hotels in town... Sad they have time in their day to try and beat up the great people at The Lodge. Shame....Shame....
Need new desk staff at night. Wow. Issues with jetted tub, loud guests and not answering the front desk phone. When finally able to reach the staff, got yelled at/it was our fault. Checked out in the middle of the night and drove home. When talked with the Manager the next day, she said she would credit us, but that is it. Good luck.
Thanks to the caring and wonderful staff at The Lodge in Detroit Lakes we had the BEST family reunion. The banquet room worked out great for our meal and the breakfast buffet was great.....The grandkids loved the pool area and the place was beautiful. The Christmas decorations were great!
I don't often review hotels, but this place warrants a great review! The staff, the building, the rooms, the lobby, everything was wonderful! I would not have changed a thing! The room was extremely clean, the entire place was inviting, I felt at home. All rooms face the Lake, and I couldn't help myself but to be relaxed during my stay here. The staff was so helpful with any question no matter what it was, and I was actually sad to leave! I hope to plan a trip for fun with friends on my next visit there, I will be back to stay here again! The breakfast was delicious, and the choices were wonderful! Plus since it's Holiday time, they had a beautiful tree decorated in their lobby as well. I would definitely recommend anyone I know to stay at this hotel, in fact I've already told many about my stay here!
Went on a weekend get away with two other women. The room was wonderful - clean and well decorated. Actually was a suite since it was two rooms plus a small kitchen. Every room overlooks the lake. Very relaxing. We also visited the spa which was great, too.
Highest quality hotel we've ever been pampered in! Breakfast was a lovely buffet of yummy choices. Be SURE to get there before SUNSET with your camera ready! Plush but north-woods rustic with even under the counter night lights in the huge bathrooms! We will be SURE to stay here again on our travels through Minnesota! VERY QUIET as room faces the lake-view.
My mom and I stayed here for a couple nights while I was in from Phoenix. My parents live in DL and I have made several trips over the years. This was my first time at The Lodge. Wow! Excellent service from the moment we walked in. Our room was beautiful and I love how all of the rooms face the lake. The lobby was gorgeous, and I enjoyed my morning coffee by the fireplace. The continental breakfast was appreciated and had a good selection. We also enjoyed the spa services which were phenomenal! I utilized the work out room both days and was so thankful for the amenities. It was everything I needed. I hope to stay again in the future. I highly recommend The Lodge!
The meeting room, accommodations, food and most importantly, the customer service received from the friendly staff was outstanding. If you are looking for a conference center or a place to stay, I fully endorse The Lodge on Lake Detroit. Holly S.
From top to bottom, inside and out, from room to facility to staff...complete satisfaction! First trip to Minnesota and, therefore, to The Lodge and the hospitality that the entire staff provided will certainly ensure a return trip back this spring! Clean, spacious room, beautiful views and a cozy place to enjoy a relaxing time. More HR Managers should follow the lead of The Lodge in recruiting professional, accommodating, welcoming staff (such as was provided) by the staff at The Lodge...job well done and THANK YOU!
The facility is on the lake, attractive and well maintained. Sleeping rooms are spacious and well appointed. The meeting room accommodated our group of about 60 well including AV equipment and technical assistance. Breakfast was included in our rate and was delicious while also offering many options for attendees with food allergies. A formal dinner with live music and silent auction were hosted in a beautiful lake view setting with a cozy fireplace. All staff were welcoming, helpful and available when needed.
I was concerned when I arrived about the train noise since the tracks were right across the highway, but no worries. It appears that all of the guest rooms face the lake, and they have lovely views. In addition, I enjoyed the kitchenette that was in my room, I could make coffee on the stove. The rooms were immaculate and spacious. The hotel staff were wonderful. I would definitely recommend if you are going to the Detroit Lakes area.
Will definitely stay again, Congenial staff. cozy mountain style lodge Early coffee < 6:00AM is good staying there again this week. Unique lakeside view. internet access is a must with uninterrupted signal .
Although we were only passing through, this Best Western is a vacation whether you are staying for one night or for one week. We arrived at The Lodge on Lake Detroit after a very long day on the road in our subcompact and immediately were transported to a totally great relaxing environment. The lodge itself is an impressive modern, yet rustic appearing, structure sitting directly on Lake Detroit. Dave on the front desk provided a royal welcome and supplied us with information on an array of things to do and see within the surrounding communities. All of the rooms face the lake, and our upper floor room had everything we could have asked for...not the least of which was a great view of the lake. There are numerous activities available for guests to sample. We took advantage of strolling through the grounds and watching a magnificent sunset while enjoying drinks in the hotel's cozy bar. We went to sleep listening to the waves on the lake and the wind in the trees. The next morning we enjoyed an impressive breakfast prepared by Oscar the cook. In short, this is a great place to kick back and relax after a day on the road.
This is our second time here and typically you're a little let down after the first trip, but that was not the case here. It feels like coming home. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and the hot breakfast delicious. This time we took a room on the 3rd floor and loved it, although the 1st floor is nice too with a walk out patio. Great sunsets and quiet room. LOVE!
We were pleasantly pleased with our visit to this facility! The room was so nice and rustic with lots wood used in the decor. Our balcony room gave us the perfect view of Lake Detroit. The sunset that evening was spectacular! The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom featured a walk-in shower! We chose to eat dinner at the hotel, and the food was delicious, as was the morning breakfast buffet. The buffet had numerous selections of prepared breakfast foods that were delicious! We highly recommend this property!
They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, anything we needed was waiting for us. The staff were very friendly and ready to assist us in every part of our stay. I would like to thank the Lodge on Lake Detroit for a very great stay.
I love the Lodge, beautiful decor, the place was spotless, very friendly staff, and incredible sunsets over the lake. They have a marina/dock, and the kids loved fishing off it. Bonfires at night. Great location too.
