Probably your best lodging choice in the area. Friendly staff. Clean and decent size room. Will be good for families, couples, solo travelers. Excellent selections of breakfast items offered which definitely exceeded our expectations as compared to places that offer “free” breakfast. Good base for visiting nearby Lassen National Park.
It is great property. All the furniture/ bedding were new. very comfortable beds. hotel is located in middle of town. It is walking distance to most of restaurants
Clean, convenient, and a great value. Within walking distance to dinner! Well equipped room: fridge, microwave and coffee maker!
Very dissatisfied with how this hotel is deceptive with their advertising. Their website shows pictures of a hotel with inside rooms and updated decor. We arrived to a dark, outdated motel with broken equipment all over the place. We reserved 3 rooms for our large family trip with our adult kids and their children. Rooms were not ready, the elevator was out of order with no signs of anyone attempting to fix it, the outdoor hot tub was closed due to broken equipment. Two rooms that were inside the hotel were large and had updated carpeting and furniture. The room my husband and I stayed in was across the parking lot and had doors to the outside. I don't book hotels with outside access because I just feel safer inside. The room was so dark with minimal lighting. Dark brown colors and ugly moss green curtains. The hotel was undergoing a remodel, which is great but not noted in their website. Having to lug all luggage up the stairs was a pain with small children. The staff were friendly enough but this is not what they advertise on their website. We will not be going back.
The sofa bed sheets were covered in animal hair and had not been changed. Coffee maker was kept in the bathroom. Microwave was dirty. Breakfast closed before scheduled time due to staff call outs.
Was very clean and staff was nice. Plenty of towels and nice size bathroom. Amenities were as advertised. Easy to find…right on the main road. Was a quaint town and enjoyed staying there one night. Would absolutely stay there again. Nice hotel.
Clean welcoming accommodations. Rooms were spacious. Breakfast was offered quite a selection. Evening cookies were fun! What struck me the most was the friendly and welcoming staff. There was not one staff member that was not helpful and cheerful. Made for a pleasant stay!
This was a very nice hotel. The rooms were refreshed with new furniture, carpet and paint. The price was fair. The employees were very helpful and courteous. A stay here was a well worth it and i recommend it to everyone.
Made a quick stay during a fishing trip and found this hotel to be very nice. It was clean, comfortable and accessible with ample parking. Parking was key for me since I had a boat. The beds were nice, I had a small fridge that worked as expected. All important WIFI was also solid. The staff was great, helped me get a lower room due to my fishing gear and the breakfast was nice. I think when I booked (thru Orbitz) it said "continental" breakfast but it was way better than that. Anytime there's crispy bacon it's a good day! Next time I'm in town I'll be staying there.
We had a great experience. King rooms were clean and spacious. Includes microwave, fridge, ample closet space. There is a built in bench to place suitcases on or sit on. It was nice to have in addition to the foldable luggage rack. Breakfast includes eggs, a meat, potatoes in addition to typical continental breakfast offering. Waffles and toppings are available. Starts at 6AM which is nice. The staff were so friendly.
We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Lassen National Park. It was easy to find, on the main road, with plenty of parking. You can tell they are short staffed, but were very nice and helpful. Room was clean and the bathroom was huge. No complaints and we would recommend.
Love this BW in Chester CA: immaculate, attractive, large lovely rooms, windows open, great bed and GREAT bathroom, very nice staff, fresh plums and fresh nectarines along with other varied fare for breakfast, easy parking, nice view of trees on the parking lot side, wonderful European bakery 1/4 mile away, a really nice manager who gave me extra time in the morning to check out as I woke up not well. This is easily one of the best Best Western Plus hotels in the country.
Clean and convenient if visiting Lassen National Park. About 30 minutes driving time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cookies and lemonade with coffee after 4pm in lobby. Little disappointed in breakfast with very few healthy options. Fresh bananas and apples was the only things we saw. Everything else was processed food. Some Greek yogurt and no oatmeal except for instant. Apparently they have some fire pits that guests can use which causes a smoke smell (According to the front desk clerk when we called). This caused my wife some discomfort and a sore throat with a headache. The window a/c sucked the smoke right in the room.
Excellent Stay. Efficient front desk, cookies at reception, clean and spacious bathroom, well appointed room, good breakfast selections. We enjoyed our stay while visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lake Alamo. Would stay here again.
This was an excellent place to stay. We have had a bad experience in the past with a different Best Western, so I was unsure how this would go. The rooms were great. The breakfast options were very good. They are building more rooms next door, but it was still super quiet, even in the day. It is on the main drag with lots of great food options nearby. We stayed two nights and would definitely come back. We were spending time at Lassen Volcanic National Park and it was very convenient and in a beautiful location!
Very clean and comfortable hotel close to Lassen National Forest and Lake Almanor. The staff were friendly, efficient and competent. Windows in the rooms open so you can smell the beautiful smell of the trees. They have a very nice lobby to lounge in or wait for others. The town of Chester is a gem in the Northern Sierras, with lots of recreation. There is a well-appointed grocery store in town as well as many restaurants and coffee houses. I was there on business, so did not have time to sample too much of the food. I would definitely stay at this hotel again next time I visit.
Located on Main Street right in the middle of the small mountain town of Chester, the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn is an interesting combination of motel (an older single-story wing of rooms with exterior entrances) and hotel (a newer main multi-story building with elevator and interior hallways). It is very close to popular Lake Almanor and is also about a 45-minute drive to Lassen Volcanic National Park. My wife and I stayed here two nights during our visit to Lassen Volcanic NP in late April 2023. Our room (room 109) was clean and spacious, the plumbing, air conditioning, appliances, flat screen television and complimentary wireless Internet were all in good working order, and the king bed was very comfortable. The suite also had enough electrical outlets to charge our many electronic devices. One very nice touch was that the front desk staff handed out gift bags to guests that were checking in. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the exterior, lobby and common areas were all in good repair. The complimentary breakfast area had adequate seating area, was well-maintained and had a very good variety of breakfast options, including hot food like eggs, sausage and waffles (the eggs were unfortunately overcooked and dry). When you explore Chester it becomes clear that this is the nicest place to stay in town. All in all, we had a very satisfactory stay at the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn and can recommend it to others.
We stay here often when going to Lake Almanor. Always a pleasant experience, helpful staff, clean hotel and rooms. Easy parking with a boat/trailer. Breakfast us back to normal (no more just grab and go bags) and good coffee.
Starting with Amy at the front desk, friendly greeting, very professional, and attentive! the breakfast was surprisingly good. We ended up leaving a couple days earlier than expected due to a major storm coming in, and not wanting to get snowed in. Amy handled it with professionalism , and understanding! While it's not the four seasons, the room was clean, and the staff was professional in all departments I interacted with. I would definitely come back again!
I had wonderful time in Chester. It was snowing on the day of my arrival. The rooms were warm and comfortable. The hotel went through recent renovations and it looks great. The beds were very comfortable.
Good location for Lassen national park, , quick easy check in, front desk friendly and can give local advice. Previous fires in forest has caused some road closures so check before u go. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, large eating area. Rooms comfortable, good wifi and tv. Only complaint is price seemed high
Wow! What a GREAT place to stay!! They have thought of SO many small details that it makes you feel well taken care of! From the whipped cream, chocolate chips and fruit for waffles, to the ear plugs in your room, they have thought of everything! Relax and enjoy Lassen National park close by!!
The Best Western Rose Quartz Inn is a good option for a stay in Chester. The room featured a fridge, microwave, HD TV with lots of channels (DIRECTV) and free Wi-Fi. The complimentary breakfast was nice and included eggs, sausage patties, bacon, biscuits & gravy, cereals, oatmeal, waffles, bread/toast, muffins, yoghurt, oranges, bananas and apples.
Clean safe and friendly staff. Parking is safe and clean. Grocery store is across the street and restaurants are all close to the hotel. There is a fitness room there that is clean and also has a nice in ground hot tub that is clean.
Front desk staff was very friendly and nice. Breakfast had multiple choice. Bath room is big with large counter top and convenient to use. Room was clean. Location was convenient. There is no elevator, but only 2 floors, so it is not too hard to move your bags.
This is a new and very nice hotel. The rooms are very spacious, we had a suite and had 2 separate rooms and a huge bathroom with tons of counter space! The bed was very cozy, the fan and air-conditioning were quite quiet.if we went back to that area we would absolutely stay there again!
Had a comfortable stay at this property. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and we slept well. Room air conditioner worked well, and maintained a good temperature. The breakfast was average and about what we expected. Waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, assortment of breads. However...... the cleanliness is a different matter. The bathroom had several hairs on the floor. It was obvious that vacuuming was not done. The small table by the upholstered chair had severl dried liquid rings from drinks that had been placed there. I wonder how many guests had been in that room since the table top was cleaned. And the upholstered chair?.... very dingy and stained. Needs re-upholsering or replacing. We didn't feel comfortable using the chair or its table. Oh, and one more thing... the price. This hotel was waaaaay overpriced for the value, and for a Best Western in general. But I guess when you look at the competition in the area, maybe they can demand much higher room rates. We obviously caved in. I suggest trying one of the area Bed & Breakfasts in the area. For similar prices, you might get a better value and better breakfast.
This Best Western exceeded my expectations: The breakfast buffet provided enough varsity. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff welcoming and attentive. This was a welcome change from the 3 boutique inns I stayed in on this trip and really good value for the price.
Visited in August 2022 with our family of 5. We booked the 2 queen room with extra space. While we usually try to find suites given the age range of kids, this still worked well. We have a travel bed for our 4 year old and there was plenty of space to place that. Admittedly we arrived on fumes mentally as we'd been traveling for almost 18 hours, so anything negative may have set us down a bad path. Luckily we encountered none. Reception was great, room was clean and as described, and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good, family agreed above average and they were all satisfied. It is standard type of hotel buffet breakfast but quality was very good. We only stayed one night because we were off to Lassen Volcanic NP and onto our next destination but if sticking around would have been plenty satisfied staying multiple nights. Kids and parents give this one a thumbs up and would return if ever back in town.
The staff was very courteous and friendly. When I enter the motel the front desk clerk greeted me with a big smile and it made me feel welcome. There was fresh coffee and cookies available for the guest.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel is in close proximity to Lassen volcanic National Park. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a really nice spread with eggs, bacon, waffle maker, bagels, oatmeal, fruit etc. They were also thoughtful enough to have soy and almond milk for options. The fitness center was adequate, and there is an area in the back to sit outside to hangout. We even threw a few horseshoes as well. The staff was so friendly, and they gave us recommendations about places to eat. They do not offer laundry, but there is a place two doors down that we used.
The hotel went through renovation because most of the furniture was new. Lobby was updated. Hot breakfast and excellent customer service made it worthwhile for me. Love to come back and stay again at this hotel
I couldn't complain about anything except that I needed to login to BW Wi-Fi every time before use. Location of the hotel is perfect and if we go to Lassen again we will stop there again. The location was in walking distance from (1) a big store where you can by everything, (2) Chester park with a playground, (3) elementary school with an open playground. Restaurants were also close. Almanor lake was also close (if you are without a toddler or if you drive). The major advantage for us was a tire shop across the road where a screw from our tire was removed and our car was repaired. Lassen Park was amazying.
This Best Western is clean and attractive, the rooms are updated, and the staff is friendly and helpful. No swimming pool seems like the only drawback. Didn't use the hot tub area, but it was very popular. Nice little green space to walk our dog. The take away breakfast offered lots of choices and the coffee was good. (I'd also recommend stopping at the Dutch coffee shop/bakery down the road.) A well run hotel!
This location has NO EV charger installed on their location. It created a very stressful situation as the charging stations up in the national park are pretty limited as well. So plan your trip well if you want to visit Lassen. This inn is surely not EV friendly.
Check in was quick and the staff was pleasant We got a nice suite room. The room was quite large with a separate seating area with its own TV There was also a nice big bathroom. All clean Lighting was OK The AC worked OK, but was kind of loud The TV was large with a good selection of channels They had a very nice gym There was no pool, but they had an outdoor hot tub. Too bad it was 95F! The bed was a little on the old side and sagged in the middle. Breakfast was grab n go, but had hot items, yogurt, Danish, etc. overall a reasonable choice for our stay when visiting the national park
The front desk staff was very warm and welcoming. She was quite lovely and helpful in giving us guidance and suggestions for dinner/breakfast. The room was fresh and clean and the bed was so comfortable. had a great sleep
BW Rose Quartz Inn is clean, comfortable, roomy in a quiet location. Staff friendly, professional and helpful. There was no restaurant on premises but many local options. Breakfast offered was not a healthy, plant-based option so we had our own cereal, almond milk, soy yogurt and fruit in our room. Will definitely stay here again when visiting family in the area.
We enjoyed our stay here - it is centrally located and about 1/2 hour from Lassen Park. Not a lot of restaurants in the small town of Chester. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast in a bag was good and free coffee provided. The only thing which was missing was strong internet. The BW wifi was very weak - unable to access youtube. Other than that, a fine stay.
Good spot on highway near town center. Staff was great, very helpful & pleasant! Room clean and loved they didn't use strong perfumey cleaning products; which is a pet peeve of mine, so many hotels use horribly strong fragranced products.
My husband and I stayed at this Best Western during our stay at Lassen National Park. Chester, CA is a tourist and lumber town so it was a good thing that we showed up when we did because it was their first weekend open for the tourist season. I enjoyed having the amenities of a franchise hotel and having the peace and quite of being in the outdoors. I love the live and let live attitude. Chester, CA is a wonderful town and very sweet and inviting locals. The room was clean, the hotel is centrally located and the town is an absolute gem. There was no room service but I did not miss it. If this was my backyard, I would be this happy too.
The staff here are friendly and even has spent extra time turning on the heat in our room while we were away. This is my second stay here and will definitely return. The grab and go breakfast was worth the grab during COVID!
This place was super clean and well run. Do not hesitate on staying here. Lassen Park was closed by the town of Chester had some cute shops. We ate at MiCasita and that was very good as well. The hotel stay was helpful and polite. Our room was comfortable.
For the town of Chester, the Rose Quartz Inn is the swankiest place in town. I stayed at the Rose Quartz Inn to fish the North Fork Feather River/other waters above Lake Almanor, and check on property in Lake Almanor West. My room was super-spacious (plenty of room for 2), clean, and comfortable. It was also close to the lobby, there were plenty of towels, and extra in-room coffee was available. Wifi reception was excellent. The front-desk staff was courteous and followed all state/county-mandated Wuhan-flu protocols. Essentially across the street from both the Holiday Mkt and the Kopper Kettle diner, this BW is quite centrally-located in town.
Stayed two nights. Good location and easy parking. Very slow check in. The front desk staff seemed unhappy and overworked. No housekeeping "due to Covid", however masks were not enforced and even one of the front desk employees was wearing her mask with her nose out. Both key cards quit working after the first night. The room was spacious and reasonably comfortable. There was no power jack near the desk, only underneath. Comfortable beds and pillows. Room amenities included refrigerator and coffee maker. Spacious bathroom with plenty of shelf space and good shower pressure. Terrible Wifi - extremely slow and disconnecting every few minutes. Also, you need to login every time. I reported the Wifi issues to the front desk, but the employee said that she was the only one there and couldn't do anything. Breakfast: because of Covid, only Grab-and-Go bags with packaged snacks.
The staff was more than helpful even though they were very busy. The property was clean and my stay was very pleasant. the staff went out of their way to help a group of us find rooms for multiple nights during the busy summer tourist season. It seemed they were short on staff, but the upkeep of the property didn't show it....
This Best Western was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in for the money. Very clean, great location, friendly staff, beautiful grounds. We even had a separated sitting room that made it even more spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Our family of 6 stayed here on June 30, 2020 in a room with two queen beds and a pullout sofa. There was room for a rollaway bed as well. The hotel is very clean, and the staff was very friendly. Coronavirus breakfast included “grab n go” bags with water, juice, pastry, fruit, and granola bars. There was some lovely outdoor space here and the lake, grocery store, some restaurants, and coffee were within walking distance. A beautiful hotel in a beautiful town!
The area is beautiful, and the separate first floor direct access rooms were convenient. But when I called to ask if they have reliable internet so I can have Zoom calls and work, they need to answer honestly. The internet at this property was unacceptable as it went from nearly zero to 3mbps all the time and I dropped calls, couldn't connect, and couldn't work. I tried everything and wasted a ton of time trying to get viable internet after asking about it specifically before booking. Really disappointing. And for $150/night, it wasn't worth the money. The pet grassy area was helpful.
The location was perfect for Mt Lassen National Park . Our stay was during covid 19 restrictions, but it didn't take anything away from our experience. The motel did great under the circumstances. Our continental breakfast was bagged with a great selection of food and beverages.
This place is great right downtown able to walk to a few restaurants! Very clean and nice! Great people at the counter very nice hotel! Even with the craziness they still provided a bag with some snacks/breakfast items very nice could have provided nothing but the did!!
My stay was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I asked about places to eat they were able to make 4 or 5 good recommendations. The room was clean and well taken care of. The free breakfast was provided in a open and rooming eating area with a lot of tables and the food was well prepared and tasty.
This is a loively hotel, nice decor, comfortable beeds and pillows, great shower, clean facility and in the center of town. We live on the Peninsula but our home was winterized so we chose to stay in town at the Best Western because we knew it would be comfortable, friendly and clean.
History: Originally built and opened in 2006. Renovated in 2012. Location: West side of Chester along California State Route 36. Sparsely populated area surrounded by thick forest. Interior Décor: Room features mid range décor, a bit outdated. Lobby area appearance is attractive. Exterior Appearance: 2 story mid size motor hotel with separate 1 story units. Outside view from the room I stayed at (103): Parking lot, separate 1 story units, forest. Room Description: Big Bear Suite - 1 Bedroom, 1 Living Room, Kitchen, Room Size: Approximately, 90 square meters. Wide open space. Room Cleanness: Clean. Bathroom: La Coupe brand amenities. Very large size. Noise Insulation: Very quiet. Light traffic on California State Route 36. Price and Value: Good price setting in off season. Breakfast: Complimentary buffet Bed: Medium softness. Slept fine. Services: Professionally trained friendly hotel staffs.
Great Place to Stay especially when it's snowing outside. Complimentary Breakfast was Excellent.. Our Pet Friendly room was VERY comfortable and CLEAN. Staff was very pleasant. Slept really well. Is close to shopping, restaurants, Lake and National Forests.
Appears this hotel underwent a significant remodel recently and it showed! In the lobby there was a platter of cookies as well as coffee and hot water (along with an outstanding assortment of hot chocolate, apple cider and teas). The room smelled slightly of new carpet (this was not an unpleasant odor at all), and everything in the bathroom of our room was sparkly and fresh and looked like it was just installed yesterday! The bathroom was huge and counter space plentiful (a must in my book). Great shower water pressure too. Bed was very comfortable and the refrigerator was large...would be great for an extended stay. Complimentary breakfast included perfectly cooked bacon, omelets etc..and was very good! Will definitely be making this hotel our place to stay when visiting the Lake Almanor area!
We stayed here for four nights so that we could have three days in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The park itself is approximately 25 miles away. There is a very small town called Mineral, within 5 miles but there is more and better accommodation available in Chester. As for this hotel, we were satisfied with everything. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Also, the room was very spacious, which is important if you have a young family. Breakfast is also included and they put out a pretty good spread… Choice of cereals, coffee, choice of juices, waffles, biscuits and gravy, muffins, bread for toast, and much more. We found the staff to be very friendly. there's also plenty of free parking.
We stayed in a king room on the second floor in the main building. Upon check in we were allocated a room but when we went up room service hadn't finished so we were quickly moved to another. Odd that reception didn't know that. The room was spacious, the bathroom a bit dated, didn't like the coffee machine being kept in by the loo, not very hygenic. Complimenary coffee & cookies available in the lobby & a decent breakfast selection offered. The hotel has a hot tub outside but not a pool, there's also a firepit area to sit around on a night time but we didn't use this. I'd stay here again if in the area, it's convenient for Lassen & we had a good nights sleep once we switched the noisy fridge off (switched it back on in the morning).
Overall, this is a $79 value for which I was charged $195, including tax. The staff was polite and the room (second floor, one king bed) was clean. TV was decent quality with free movie channels. This was an October stay and its deer hunting season, so the hotel occupancy was up. The place was quiet and utilitarian. The free breakfast was just adequate, but did include bacon, sausage, eggs, make your own waffle. A minimal buffet but nothing special. The experience was decent but they've really got you in a tough spot in this area of the state because lodging choices are few and they take advantage and over charge on the room rate. I've stayed in a condo on Maui for less.
My husband and I spent 1 night at this hotel. And we were very disappointed! Upon arrival the front desk clerk was not very friendly. It was late and we were tired so we pretty much took our suitcases in and went to bed. The next morning we noticed stains on the carpet, old chairs, and other signs of needed upkeep. The pet area for our dogs was a good hundred yards away from our room. Also, the flags out front were ripped and a disgrace. Then we went to breakfast. More bad news. Terrible coffee and the food in warming trays was almost cold! Again the staff not very friendly either. Needless to say we will not be back. We are not against Best Western themselves because the 8 nights prior to this stay we stayed in a BW in Fortuna CA and it was wonderful!
We were pleasantly surprised to find very large bathroom and a large clean room in Chester, Ca. From the helpful frontdesk staff to the enjoyable hottub this property was very nice. My only negative is that there is no swimming pool only the hot tub and no laundry facilities. You have to walk a short distance to a laundromat. That I would give 1 star.
My husband and I recently stayed here for 2 nights while we were visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hotel is about 30 miles from the park and it's a very easy drive. I didn't see many other hotels in the area so I think this is probably the best option there is. We had a small issue at check-in where the front desk didn't see that the room had been prepaid and wanted to charge my credit card but she checked us in when I showed her the receipt and told me to stop by to talk to the manager in the morning. When I did go by to talk to the manager, the issue had already been fixed. The internet was spotty and you have to be on their WiFi if you want to get online because there is minimal to no cell phone service in the area. Our tub also didn't drain well but overall we had a positive experience here and would stay again if we come back to Lassen Volcanic NP.
My boyfriend and I had our reservation cancelled last minute at the bed and breakfast we originally booked. We called in a frenzy hoping to get a room for the same night. They were able to accommodate with no issues for two nights. Tracy was incredible. She knew we didn't get to have dinner, so she got us bagels to hold us over until the morning. The breakfast was great. There was so much variety. The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Lastly, the location was perfect for two days in Lassen National Park. I highly recommend.
This Best Western offered so much. First of all, the location was fantastic for all of the trails to Lassen Volcano National Park. We did all the different locations of the park and our beautiful hotel was just the place to end our busy day. Next, the staff was so accommodating and friendly. Also, the lobby had cookies, lemonade, ice tea, and water everyday. Finally, the room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the hot tub after hiking 30 miles through the park.
Good free breakfast - better than most other hotels. Room was nice and roomy. Bed was a bit too soft but had nice chair with foot rest and desk. The internet was very fast. Also had an elevator which was nice for our 2nd floor room.
Had a very pleasant stay at the Rose Quartz Inn. Everything was very nice with the exception of the Internet which is very slow and kicks you out constantly. Otherwise this is a very good hotel if you need one in Chester. Centrally located, decent breakfast, comfy beds, very quiet, clean & spacious room and bathroom, helpful staff etc. It suited our needs very well and I would book it again.
We stayed here for one night on our way north to Oregon. The room was fine, nothing special, but no problems either. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I wish that I could say it was pet friendly, but they charge a $20/night pet fee and the pet walking area is a very small dirt area way at the very back of the parking lot. Not the best if you have to take your dog out in the dark. And dogs weren't allowed on the cement patio area either, so that meant neither were the owners. Other than that, our stay was fine and this is probably the best hotel in the area.
The staff is nice. The hotel is comfortable and clean. The televisions could be better, with better remotes that function from a distance. I would recommend regularly checking that smoke detectors are functional.
We stayed here while visiting Jasper National Park. It is about a 30 minute drive from Chester to LNP. This is by far the best hotel in Chester & one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed at in some time. The rooms are very large & clean. It has good WIFI & the breakfast was exceptional! The cookies in the lobby every afternoon was a nice touch. The staff was nice & it was a quiet place to stay, even though it was nearly full while we were there. There are not a lot of good dining options close by. The grocery store across the street makes good deli sandwiches if you need them. I can definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a good clean place to stay.
Needed a place to stay that would be a halfway point. This Best Western was right where we needed it to be. Staff was friendly, room was nice, and we enjoyed the breakfast that was included. I signed up for a BW membership because they seem to be in many of the smaller towns we have traveled through.
Great hotel in Chester. Spacious room was quiet and clean. Refreshments in lobby welcomed visitors. Employees very friendly and courteous. Breakfast had great selection and clean. Highly recommend. We enjoyed our stay.
After we visited the Lassen Volcanic National Park in the afternoon, we stayed one night at Best Western Rose Quartz Inn. The hotel was well maintained and beautiful. The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The WIFI was fast.
Overall very good value hotel. Great convienent location by the lake with restaurants nearby. Large, comfortable, clean rooms with spacious bathrooms. Nice hot tub for a soak after a long day on the water. Full, hot breakfast with plenty of options.
Excellent staff. Friendly and helpful. This hotel has a firepit on the grounds. Wood is supplied. Wonderful place to sit and visit with family and friends. The hotel is in the mountains, beautiful scenery. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable.
Clean, plenty of options for breakfast. It was very quiet. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. No pool but does have outdoor Jacuzzi and also has a fire pit area. Parking was accessible and appeared safe.
Visited the area to visit Soda Springs and historic tribal lands of the Maidu. Very beautiful drive to get here and was welcome about 8 pm. Staff was genuinely friendly and check-in was very smooth. The room was large and very comfortable. There is a main building where complimentary breakfast is served; the doors into these rooms are in the interior of that building. There are additional rooms located in a building across the parking area; they have exterior entry doors. Sometimes that is important to those traveling alone. Overall facility is inviting and well kept. The breakfast offerings were varied and ranged from do-it-yourself waffles to omelet to cereal and oatmeal. Would look forward to staying again for non-business travel and take advantage of the rest of the amenities and leisurely visit to Lake Almanor.
On our recent visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lake Almanor we stayed at the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn in Chester, CA. The location was convenient, staff were friendly and they knew the area restaurants.
We have stayed many places in Chester from very rustic settings to bed and breakfast. Since the Rose Quartz Inn was built we have been staying there. We are now retired and and are done with the tents and cabins. We enjoy the modern conveniences including the speedy internet at this hotel. The staff is very friendly and we have never had a problem.
We have stayed at the Rose Quartz many times over the past decade. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet is just fine, and it's a great base for exploring Lassen Park and the surrounding area.
I stayed here a couple of nights recently while visiting nearby friends. It snowed pretty much the entire time I was there. The motel is well cared for and everything seems to be in good working order and clean. Front desk staff was friendly and professional each time I had dealings with them. The room was warm and the bed comfortable. The staff worked hard the entire weekend to keep the parking lot and walkways clear of snow. The complimentary breakfast provided each morning had a variety of hot and cold items to select from and the coffee was hot and tasty. Staying here was enjoyable. I will be returning here.
Chester is the closest option to visit Lassen Volcanic NP. It's a small village with only a few options for diner but the hotel has nice spacious rooms with parking space right in front of your own room which is very easy to load and unload the car. Breakfast is OK. Very friendly staff at reception.
Upon arriving in the hotel, the person who checked me in was not the warmest. I did not feel welcome at first. But after the check-in, I realized she must have been nervous/uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the hotel was actually very nice. The room upstairs was clean and quiet. The a/c worked, the amenities were all there, tv was in good working condition. The only thing was that the bed was a bit too soft. I think it's time to change it??? The continental breakfast was decent. Had bacon, eggs, cereal, waffle, yogurt, oatmeal, and juice. It hit the spot. Check-out was better than check-in. The woman this time was cordial and friendly at least. The environment was questionable. Not sure whether the people are friendly or not. Ate at a Chinese restaurant nearby and the food was decent. Parking is available. But overall, the hotel is comfortable and quiet. It was a good night stay.
We enjoyed our experience at the Best Western Rose Quarts Inn . If you are doing day hikes in Lassen Volcanic National Park this is the place to stay . Rooms are clean comfortable and spacious . The staff was helpful and friendly. Location is close restaurants . The full hot breakfast is wonderful. Highly recommend this hotel .
Great place to get into the southern side of Lassen Volcanic National Park. We stayed one night before heading up to Devil's Kitchen. Breakfast started at 6am which made it easy to get an early start on hiking. The rooms was much larger than expected and very comfortable.
We stayed here for our visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hotel is very clean and the room was comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the location near the park was ideal for us. I highly recommend Rose Quartz Inn.
The room was huge, bathroom spacious and definitely one of the closest lodging choices available if you are traveling to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hotel had a nice complimentary breakfast and also cookies upon check in. Chester is a very small town but nearly all of the restaurants available are within walking distance to this property. We definitely would stay here again. Very clean, the staff were attentive and pleasant, this hotel really fit the bill!
The Best Western Rose Quartz Inn deserves a glowing review. It met all our needs (we are seniors). The room was spacious and clean, the bed great, the bathroom huge, the staff cheerful. Above all, it was blessedly quiet and restful. Though breakfast wasn't ideal (limited), it was adequate. Chester is near the southeast corner of Lassen National Park while the main park entrance and Visitor Center are ~15 miles west, close to a half hour drive. For us, it was worth it but there are a few Park trails nearby as well.
We stayed here on 8/14/18 after visiting Lassen National Park (about 1 hr away). The grounds are immaculate as was the lobby and common areas. Our room was clean spacious and quiet. There is a fire pit area in the back near the outdoor pool. Internet was OK for emails and web surfing and the breakfast was very good. This is a good place to stay if you are in Chester.
We were so pleased with the Rose Quartz Inn. It was a very large room and comfortable bed. People were very friendly and they serve a free breakfast. There was a wonderful restaurant about 10 minutes away we went for dinner. We ate at the Red Onion Grill in Lake Almanor Peninsula Ca. It was excellent and the staff was very friendly.
i am a truckdriver and i stay at the Best Westewrn Rose Quartz Inn in Chester every Monday night whether it's sunny, raining or snowing - and there are never any surprises... nice clean rooms with TV, internet, AC & heat that always works, a big outdoor jacuzzi - and a friendly, attentive, professional staff that keeps everything running smoothly...
Best Western Rose Quartz Inn is one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed at. There was only one other we have stayed at that was as nice. I thought the rate was a little high, perhaps upper mid range, and the evening desk shift was a little understaffed. I had to wait to check in since the front desk clerk was away from the desk doing other chores. This happened in the morning too during check out. The front desk staff was very pleasant and the room was clean and comfortable. This is a great hotel to stay at.
We have stayed in many BW hotels over the past several years and i have to say this one was the best. We had a double queen suite and it was perfectly clean and the Air Conditioner worked great. (it was very hot while we were in the area). Staff is attentive and caring and the breakfast was excellent. Internet was quick and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely use this hotel next time we come this direction.
We stayed 3 nights here (family, two teenagers, 16 and 18). It was our base for exploring Lassen, which is about 30 minutes away (south entrance). The room comprised two queen beds and a sofa bed. It was a bit cramped, but fine for our needs. Our biggest complaint would be related to how dark it was in the room during the day - the net curtains made it feel very 'dingy' and really the only way to make it feel pleasant in the room was to open these - which then left you with no privacy. Thankfully the room had air conditioning - this area of California is very hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy. Breakfast was not particularly appertising, and seemed to be done cheaply. There is plenty of choice however. The plates and cutlery are all plastic and cardboard. There is a great restaurant almost next door, doing the usual USA buger-type stuff; and plenty of other restaurants in town also.
I'm not familiar with other options in the Lassen area, but this Best Western worked out perfectly for me. It's about 30 minutes from the southwest entrance, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast with lots of variety and healthy choices.
Beautiful area of Northern California. Hotel is located near the center of town with a number of places to eat within walking distance. Many services available in town and around Lake Almanor. Highly recommend this palce.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights while in northern California. The purpose of our vacation was to visit two National Parks in the area. We found the hotel neat and clean and the front desk very helpful. It was nice having a microwave and refrigerator in our room as we did takeout from a nearby Mexican restaurant which was recommended by the front desk. As always it is the people out in front that make the first impression and ultimately make a big difference. Management has hired the correct people.
Had room across from main hotel, so occasional noise from other guests as the cars are parked right in front of the rooms, and some people seem to congregate out there and chat-even late at night. By the time I went out to shush them, some else had shooed them away-thanks. Good sized room; bed a bit too firm for us but ok, and the lighting isn't the best, but the room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Appreciate the refrigerator and microwave. Good breakfast service by Katina, who was hard-working and very professional. Housekeeping staff does a nice job, and all the staff we encountered were very courteous. A suggestion: move the outdoor garbage cans with the ashtrays further away from the rooms so the smoke smell doesn't permeate the rooms-thanks.
Professional and pleasant staff. Room and bathroom were clean and well kept. Bed was ok. All rooms have microwave and refrigerator, definitely a plus. Within short walking distance to a number of restaurants. Breakfast had a variety of items. Still hotel food though. Did notice they had both almond and soy milk for those that need to be dairy free, in addition to regular milk. Would stay inside the hotel next time though. The outside rooms were noisy with people walking by and congregating outside to visit. Overall a good hotel. Would recommend.
We had a family suite which was the perfect size for the 5 of us. Everything was clean and looked new. Breakfast was good and there were cookies and lemonade available all day. We walked to a restaurant next door to the hotel for supper based on a recommendation from the lady at the desk. Would love to stay there again!
The room was large, especially the bathroom, with loads of space to setting out toiletries. The bathroom looked like it had been recently remodeled. The free breakfast was one of the best I've seen with a wide variety of options including fresh fruit (the standard apples, oranges and bananas but also fresh berries. There were hard cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, omelettes, oatmeal, dry cereal, yogurt, waffles and a variety of breakfast breads. They had gluten and dairy free options and brewed decaf coffee. Behind the motel there is a firepit with a fire to enjoy in the evening. It looked like guests had been making s'mores. We came here for the 4th of July and hotel staff set out canopies and chairs for hotel guests to use while viewing the parade. The only negatives were small bath towels, very small soap bars, and very small bottles of shampoo. We will stay here again for sure.
This hotel had such a nice staff and was really clean. They had a wonderful breakfast and they were so nice to our fur babies. Thank you for such a great time. We stayed in another hotel in town and they were very rude. We were shpping for a lake house in this beautiful area. I would stay here again and again.
Unimpressive fascade on the outside but very comfy on the inside. First class accomodation in the idylic town of Chester California. A home away from home. We booked at Suite with Kitchen, I was surprised how convenient to have a regular size refrigerator, range, cabinet and diswasher in the room and still have spacious area for dining, living and separate bedroom. Ideal for family accomodation. Hot breakfast already included. Conveniently located at Main Street, grocery is just a block away, gas, carwash can be walking distance, but what is your business walking at the car wash anyway?
We were impressed with the immaculate room and good breakfast choices. When we asked about a place we had read about nearby for dinner , the front desk person offered to call to see if it was open that night. It was not and she saved us the time going over there.
We stayed here for a week and it was very nice. The room size was good with a separate work/eating table, refrigerator and microwave. The beds were comfortable. The staff from check-in desk, breakfast service, business center to maid service were friendly and professional.
The people were very friendly at hotel. They asked if I needed anything with smile. I felt welcomed at BW. It was well managed with friendly staff. Breakfast area was clean and good food. I would recommend this BW.
My husband & I stayed in Chester @ BW Rose Quartz so that we could visit Lake Almanor. The building is beautiful. Rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast was good. They have a fire pit outside along with a big hot tub but these were closed down for the winter. Front desk clerk recommended a restaurant right up the street which had good food. We look forward to maybe visiting again in the spring.
I had a great 2 night stay. The day we got in, the lady at the front desk showed us all the things to do. It was very close to the lake. The rooms were large, internet was fast, and the rooms had HBO. Breakfast options were good. Very homey feel in the lobby with a nice Christmas tree! Seems to the best hotel in Chester!
A comfortable place to stay with inviting entrance area and great AM breakfast. Located in the middle of the tiny town of Chester with immediate access to all amenities available. Highly recommend it.
WiFi is really bad and you don't get a lot of cable channels. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was the usual fake eggs and sausage but had fresh muffins and fruit. Microwave and fridge
Love this hotel. Great helpful staffs, well prepared informations about things to do there including Lassen National Forest. Room was great with very good water pressure in bathroom only con was noise of air conditioner/heather .
Great staff and great environment for our team. We will be staying here again. Make sure to ask for Tracy. Best front seat help ever! Made us feel at home and made sure to meet all our needs. The housekeeping staff were great also. Enjoy your stay.
This hotel was very clean and well located. Lake Almanor is right down the road. The breakfast was ample and the breakfast room was warm and clean. (It was a very cold morning) The desk clerk told us about a wonderful restaurant about five miles away and it was very good.
We stayed for one night and used it as a base for exploring Lassen. The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of parking available. Breakfast was fine, and open early. The hotel is quiet and easy to find.
This is a fairly typical, though better than average, motel type establishment. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff efficient without being over-friendly. Breakfast was satisfactory. We had no complaints about our overnight stay, as a part of a road trip around California. However, we did feel it was a little over-priced in comparison with many of our other stops in California. However, as tourists travelling around we did feel a little out of place here as it was clear that most, if not all of the other guests were Americans intent on Fishing, Hunting, or other similar outdoor pursuits!
My stay at this hotel was good.. The only thing was that there was no laundry services for me to wash my clothes. And being that i was from out of town i didnt have time to search for a laundromat. This was my second stay at a Best western on this trip and the other one didnt have one as well.
We had a more expensive room with a walk in shower and twin beds. We stayed two nights. The room was large, however it was not clean, There was dust and sticky marks around the beds and on the side table. There were black hairs in the shower. After our first night the room was not cleaned and the beds not made. On leaving I requested a refund for lack of cleaning services. I was given $25 dollars which was 1/10 of the total bill. I must add that I had to fight for that as I was met with an aggressive response at the checkout desk.
Chester is a really small town and I have only been there off-season, when it probably seems even smaller. The Best Western is the best hotel in town, rooms are spacious, clean, and the breakfast is served early and hot. Chester is on the shores of Lake Almanor, but also about 45 minutes away from Lassen National Park's Southwest entrance.
This was the best place in town. It's a small ten with only 1 fast food restaurant and that's Subway. It was dog friendly and had a wonderful outdoor area. Breakfast was one of the best of a 2 week trip. If I ever find myself there I would stay again
Very comfortable and quiet. It's less than an hour to the southern places in Lassen, like devil's kitchen or mill creek falls. It's located in the middle of both entrances to those trails. Loved the complimentary breakfast!
September 4 and 5, 2017 - After a very long drive from Klamath Falls, Oregon, we finally pulled into Chester's Best Western Rose Quartz Inn around 1:45pm. Fortunately, they had a room ready for us; room 101, Last Chance Suite, at the end of the hall next to the side door. This was a convenient room. We had sandwiches with us so we had our lunch in the breakfast room with fresh coffee. After lunch, we just rested in our room and unpacked. Then, we went out for dinner. We decided not to drive to Lassen National Park until the next day. Our room was bright, clean, cheerful, and comfortable. The breakfast was good with everything you would need, except eggs cooked to order. The fitness center has free weights in addition to regular exercise machines. If you are staying at Chester, California, you should be staying at the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn.
by far, in this rustic town with few hotels in area, this is the best. one of those places with the enormous two story lobby. Excellent breakfast, well tended. Bed pillow assorted softnesses....mine was so comfy I had to make note of the manufacturer
Our comfortable king bed unit was in the main building, had mini fridge and microwave, a large HD TV with cable selections (including HBO), free Wi-Fi, a desk/chair/lamp for working, and an ok hot breakfast in the morning. Very easy access to SW entrance to Lassen natl volcanic park (about 25 miles). We will be back.
We wanted a hotel close to Lassen National Park and not more than 1/2 day drive to San Francisco. Chester was the perfect location for that - although restaurants were a bit limited and the Best Western was really the only hotel right in Chester. The room & bathroom were both updated, good size & clean with a comfortable bed and included fridge, microwave, desk & closet area. Hot breakfast was good (included) - eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy - plus all the regular continental fare. Only thing that surprised us was that we were in a separate building - motel style. Not a problem - distance between this building & the main building was just a small parking lot - but we hadn't see that called out when we made our reservations (or we missed it). I would recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in this area.
The good news: This unit used to be the on-site manager's one-bedroom apartment, so the rooms are large and all the appliances in the kitchen are full size. The bed is comfortable, the room quiet (even though near the highway), and there is a water filter at the kitchen sink. I did not take advantage of the free breakfasts. The bad news: There was only once source of light for the large dining room/living room: a floor lamp with a low wattage light bulb in the far corner, near the window. There was insufficient lighting for eating, reading, and using my computer. It was the non-existent room service that ruined my 3-night stay, though. When leaving my room the first morning, I pointed out the "Service Please" sign on my door to the English-speaking maid directly outside my room and explained to her that I needed two things: the dirty, used bar of soap in the bathtub removed and no room deodorizer sprayed in my room due to my multiple lung conditions. (I verified I had placed the "Service Please" sign on the door, since it looked almost identical to the "Privacy Please" sign.) She said she would see that my wishes were fulfilled. Everything went downhill from there. When I returned to my room that evening, no one had entered my room to clean it, other than to remove the used bar of soap. The front desk clerk provided replacement towels, but I had to live with the dirty soap dish and unmade bed. At least I could breathe. The second morning, I again placed the "Service Please" sign on my door knob, then complained to the front desk clerk about my room not being cleaned, and she assured me my room would be cleaned that day. Instead, a letter from the hotel manager was slipped under my door, informing me that "by law ... we are required to enter a room every two(2) days. This is for security and cleanliness reasons. This note serves as notice that tomorrow is the third day." I took the letter to the front desk clerk, who agreed I should receive a credit for my woes and would see that the hotel manager followed through. When I returned to my room that evening, the soap dish was still dirty and the room had been sprayed (so I had to replace all the peripherals of my breathing equipment, a costly affair), but my bed was made and the maid had left a sweet apology note. When I checked out the last day, I wrote a note to the manager on a copy of my hotel bill, which had not been adjusted to show a credit, and the front desk clerk assured me the manager would get in touch with me by the following day. Never happened. It's been six weeks. I have five photos to share, but the upload permanently stalled. Two were of the dark living/dining room, two were of the Privacy and Service door tags (showing how they look almost identical), and one was of the manager's letter putting me on notice.
Little gem in Chester. Great hotel! Clean, quiet, and great value! Came to visit Lassen National Volcanic Park and this hotel was conveniently located and had suites that fit our needs. Many restaurants in Chester.
We stayed here for 4 nights while we visited Lassen Volcanic Natl Park and we thought it was the most convenient lodging for hiking various areas. It was about 30 miles from the South entrance but close to the Warner Valley and Juniper Lake area access roads. It was also convenient to drive around the east side to get to the Butte lake/ Cinder cone areas. The rooms were large, clean. We had a King size bed that was comfortable with nice bedding. All the employees were friendly. The breakfast was standard but one morning we did have fresh strawberries which were great. An extra nice treat was the lemonade/coffee and cookies in the lobby when we returned back from hiking. We really loved the nice hot tub which soothed our joints after a day on the trails. The exercise room was also clean with nice equipment. There are restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store nearby. Highly recommended!
We recently stayed here for four nights. The room is clean and very spacious. Air conditioning unit in the room is a bit noisy. Common area is well kept. OK amenities, but nothing fancy. The best part about this hotel is its staff though. Everyone we interacted, from the reception, to housekeeping, to dining room staff, were so friendly and accommodating. We would certainly recommend it as a convenient, gateway hotel to visiting Lassen and its surrounding areas.
We requested one of the rooms across from the main building as it was single story with no stairs to climb or people over you. It was a very dark room and the bathroom had poor lighting but other than that, it was clean and comfortable. The bed was so-so, a little hard for us but then mattresses are subjective. It was quiet and we were told they had sold out for the weekend. Glad we had reservations. The breakfast room was packed at 8:30 on Saturday morning but less crowded on Sunday morning. They only give you two bath towels, two hand towels and two wash cloths. We could have used an extra bath towel. The TV was fine, just sits a little low on a credenza, causing you to have to use pillows to prop your head up. Wish it had been mounted on the wall. We will no doubt go back next year.
We stayed here while we were visiting the Lassen County area. The bed was hard. It was like sleeping on the floor. The breakfast food was typical standard Best Western food which we personally do not like. The staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were clean. The Town of Chester has a nice Market. There are not very many restaurants there. We ended up going to the town of Lake Almanor and found a lovely Resort right on the lake for. It was only 15 minutes away from Chester and have a few nice restaurants and a little market in that area. Chester is a good to explore the area but we prefer being on the lake.
We were in Northern California touring Mt Shasta, Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lake Tahoe. The Best Western in Chester provided our lodging for two nights while at Lassen. It was the only name brand hotel located within a reasonable drive. It was an excellent hotel. It appeared to be fairly new, was very clean, and had a great breakfast. Our room was fairly large and bathroom was one of the biggest we had ever had. Great hotel!
We spent two nights at the Rose Quartz Inn. The hotel is very typical of the Best Western standard, providing decent and good value accommodation. We chose a ground floor motel style room, rather than one in the main hotel block, so we could park directly outside our door. The room was spacious, comfortable and meticulously clean. Breakfast fare comprised the usual range of hot and cold food and was perfectly adequate, although the dining room was a bit small for the numbers attending on our second morning.
Really enjoyed staying here, the staff were very friendly. The convenience of being in town was great. Even though I was afraid that traffic noise would disturb us the room was very quiet and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again!
The BW Rose Quartz Inn is always perfect, well managed and comfortable. You can't get a better place to stay in our opinion. The breakfast options are well selected and arranged. The Inn has the best staff and maintenance.
When visiting Lassen Volcanic NP there is a number of hotel choices but with no hotels inside the NP, it seems that proximity becomes important. There are a couple of funky "resorts" close to Lassen - but if you prefer a hotelroom over a wooden cabin, the town of Chester is close and has some choice in hotels, shopping and restaurants. The Rose Quartz Inn is an upscale (BW Plus) Motel that offers the consistent quality one would expect of Best Western. Great free breakfast (where the buffet is constantly tended to) and afternoon lemonade, coffee and snacks in the quite pleasant lobby. There are rooms (large one BR suites) in the 2story main building (with elevator) and motel-like rooms (where our car parks in front) in the annex. Our suite was clean, a bit drab but well maintained and comfortable with a not too loud AC, TV with HBO, fridge, microwave, Mr. Coffee. Our suite overlooked - well, nothing really besides a dead RV and an the backside of the building next door but since we had explored the area all day long this served well to not overload our eyeballs much more :) Checking in and out was friendly and quick, parking is free and no problem, plenty of restaurants just next door - we felt at home. The hotel offers a guest laundry (which was down during our visit) and a (very hot) whirlpool (which comes handy after a day on the trails). So - overall - we would stay there again and recommend the Rose Quartz.
Good location, friendly front desk & breakfast employees. Room was cleaned 1st day, but not 2nd day (also no new towel). Mattress was not comfortable. My husband's and my backs hurt a lot after waking up in the morning.
This Best Western in Chester is really the only game in town. The room and facility was clean. Breakfast was mediocre: waffle maker broken and ingredients for a breakfast sandwich tasted like cardboard. We stayed two nights. The second morning we ate breakfast at a restaurant in town.
Best Western Rose Quartz Inn – Chester California It is difficult to get decent reservations in this area during Summer: (1) No automatic door-openers, those with disabilities get to struggle (as one of our group did). (2) Cigarette butts all over. You would think that they might want to clean them up occasionally. (3) They decided to clean up our room before we checked out – or had everything out of the room. Basically, while we were still paying for the room. We had to go to the office to get soap and another towel. We confronted the person who did it: “I knocked on the door and nobody answered.” Well, if we had knocked on HIS door would HE have answered?
Stayed here for two nights. Rooms are large. Good selection of food for breakfast. Coffee and cookies available in reception any time. Could do with a pool as only had a hot tub. Very quite at night so we had a really nice sleep.
This is the 3rd time over the years that I have stayed at this Best Western. I love this property mostly because it is so close to Lassen National Park...a most amazing park. It is also close to a great lake. The place is very clean, updated, and comfortable. Our room was large and very comfortable. You walk into a lobby with cookies and coffee...the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good with lots of hot food and everything you'd want for breakfast. The staff is helpful to find local eateries. It is a great place to stay and I recommend it.
Everything about this hotel is the BEST! The staff, the rooms, the beds. the breakfast. No complaints here. All Good. Do Not go to the "Worst" Western in Susanville. All bad. It's hard to believe they are owned by the same company.
This is a nice hotel, however it was extremely overpriced. There were no features that warrants the high price. They stopped serving breakfast early which was an great annoyance. I would stay here again, if the price is greatly reduced.
We recently stayed here for three nights while visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hotel is very nice. Our room, 217, was a "junior suite" which was nice but not sure why it's considered a suite - seemed like a normal sized room to us. Loved the fridge in the room, spacious bathroom and free wi-fi Of note: this hotel is about 30-40 minutes from park entrance. There really is not much else closer to the park with regards to hotels. Property was very clean, staff super friendly and breakfasts were always fresh and plentiful Hot tub was very nice too to have available especially the day we climbed Lassen Peak (10,457 feet) it was nice to soak in the hot tub. It's very spacious and seats 12 Nearby there are plenty of restaurants and gas stations etc. we went to Carol's Prattville Cafe about 15 away - it was amazing We had reasonable room rates and would definitely stay here again if in the area
Booked this room as it is close to Lassen Volcanic NP. I didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised. The room had been remodeled very nicely with all the amenities you could ask for. They also served the best breakfast on our 14 day trip. Staff was top notch.
Not bad, but very pricey for what you get. It probably has something to do with seasonal demand and availability of lodging. Our overalll stay was satisfactory, but we were only able to book one night of two that we spent in the area. The appearance and staff were fine, and I assume the breakfast was okay, although we didn't eat it, since we were in a hurry to get on the road.
This was a good location for playing tourist at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The breakfast was good. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The WiFi could have been more robust. The staff was frie
Came here for the 2nd time for Lassen National Park's Dark Sky Festival. The staff is as friendly as ever, there are still cookies and coffee in the lobby all the time. We needed to check out a day early, and the staff was helpful and accommodating (we were able to check out early and only pay for the nights stayed). The breakfast is even better now - in addition to hot eggs, sausages, cereals, various milks (including almond milk), they have fresh berries and chocolate chips to go with the hot waffles. I look forward to my stay here every year, and I particularly look forward to a hot waffle with chocolate chips melting in the crevices and topped with fresh berries. No better start to a great day of hiking! The rooms are enormous and clean. The microwave and fridge in every room is very convenient. There aren't too many choices to eat in Chester (small town), especially for a vegetarian. We brought Trader Joe's veggie entrees and lots of fruit and had a great time. The wifi is also now at streaming speed, but there are so many activities nearby that you hopefully will not need it.
This motel stands out in Chester. It's newer, cleaner and nicely landscaped. The rooms are good sized and include all the amenities. It's pleasantly quiet. All the staff were welcoming. The breakfast was pretty good. All in all, this is a nice place and good place to stay if you have a family.
My family and I stayed at the BW Rose Quartz inn as part of an extended road trip between Portland, OR and San Francisco, CA. The Rose Quartz Inn was our stop for the night as we visited Lassen Volcanic National Park. The hotel looked fairly new. Our rooms were both large (two queen beds in each), clean, bright, and close to the lobby and breakfast room. The continental breakfast was good, and is always a nice treat. We would definitely stay here again!
We come here for family reunion every few years, and it's the best in the area. (Unfortunately, NOTHING in Westwood) Very friendly staff, responding to all requests. Their breakfast buffet was quite good, including fresh berries and good coffee. We like staying in the single story rooms on the left, as we can drive right up to the room. AND, there are real, locally found, rose quartz rocks outside.
very nice hotel...the room had plenty of space for the 3 of us.. the bathroom was very large..huge counter space in the bathroom.. seemed to have plenty of outlets for devices and was well lit.. breakfast the first morning we had to skip as it was really crowded in the room.. second morning was much better...variety of food was good...
Clean, comfortable, new hotel. Wonderful staff are pleasant, courteous and very accommodating with you needs. Ann Marie served breakfast with a smile. Had a very restful stay and plan to return when we can in the future.
This was an unplanned stop when the brakes failed on my motorhome. As soon as I knew that we'd be in Chester overnight, I went on hotels.com and booked a room at the Rose Quartz Inn. Really nice place, good breakfast, and good looking facilities. If I had a reason to stay over night in Chester again, this is where I'd stay.
We stayed at this Best Western on our way to visit Mt. Lassen. We loved our room and the convenient location to the Hwy 89. The front desk and breakfast staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is also close to Lake Amador, too.
Very small town with limited choice of hotels and restaurants. This Best Western is new, very clean and well maintained and definitely the best place to stay in town. Very good experience globally and we would not hesitate to go back there if we come back in this region.
We booked this hotel on short notice when we found out the Lassen National Park campground was closed due to snow. Our room was in the one story building adjacent to the hotel. It had convenient parking and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was typical for a Best Western, enough variety to start the day. Staff were helpful.
We had a very nice stay and the bed was comfortable which was very important. Nice room. Certainly the most classy hotel in town. We enjoyed the breakfast a lot. Our family who stayed in the hotel with us met and talked and had breakfast together every morning.
This was a great location to stay at after we visited Lassen National Park on our way to Yosemite. It was clean and the staff was helpful. There is a great Chinese Restaurant nearby which was convenient.
We were looking forward to our stay at the Rose Quartz Inn in Chester. The hosts were efficient and gracious. But the rooms were not. The host assigned us to a room on the small row of rooms across the driveway from the main hotel. Not good. There was a trash can full of garbage sitting right beside our friends by door. Then the lack of insulation material in the rooms meant that all conversations outside were heard by us inside. When a truck was started at 4:30 am, the engine noise came through the walls as if we were staying in a tent. No sound deadening material was evident. Further, all the main television network channels said "weak signal." None of those channels would display a program. When we asked the front desk to help tune our TV, we were told there was nothing they could do. Well, try using a quality satellite service like DIRECTV or cable network like Time Warner. Get rid of the cut rate service you are using. At the price you charged for the room ($150), you should be able to afford a decent television service for your guests. Finally, put comfortable chairs and beds in the guest rooms. Our room had two chairs and a king bed but neither the chairs nor the bed was comfortable. Upgrade them.
This Best Western looks like it has gone through a recent renovation. WE stayed in the motor courtyard building. I was concerned about the noise from cars parking etc but that did not occur. The bed was firm and very comfortable and the room was well appointed with a mini refrigerator and a microwave. WE did not use the outdoor spa or fire pit. We found the breakfast to be very satisfactory with fresh fruit as well as hot eggs, potatoes and sausage. The front desk staff was helpful at answering our questions and I would stay again the next time in the area. This hotels sells out frequently during summer weekends so plan accordingly.
My family and I were very pleased with the quality and amenities of this hotel. Knowing the nature of the area, we were unsure of what the hotel would be like. We greeted warmly by the reception staff and given good information as to the closings of Lassen Volcanic National Park and where to eat in the area. The room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast! The woman stocking the breakfast was very friendly, helpful, and quick to restock. Highly recommended!
Staying here for one night and have found 3 long different coloured hairs in my bed, wish me luck! Despite this staff all seem very nice and hotel is in a good location (40 minutes from Lassen National Park)
Stayed here for a weekend while we visited Lassen and enjoyed Lake Almanor. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast was excellent (eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, etc.) The property has a hot tub, fire pit, grill, and designated pet area. It's in a great location - right in the middle of town, walkable to pretty much everything in Chester (I'd recommend Cravings for food/coffee/bookshop and Thirsty Trout for pub/good food). If you are visiting Lassen or Plumas, or looking for a weekend on Lake Almanor, I'd highly recommend staying in Chester at this Best Western!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a great presentation outside and in the lobby. The room was very large, The bathroom had a huge counter space for all our supplies. The shower had lots of pressure. The beds were comfortable, but could use some updating with bedding.
The hot tub, fire pit, horse shoe pits, free breakfast, cookies in the lobby, and fitness room are all great amenities. And the staff are very friendly and helpful. Also dog friendly which we loved. And the town of Chester is so cute. We LOVED the shakes from the Pine and the homemade pie from the fruit stand down the street. Yum!
Stayed here for a few nights while visiting the NP. Lovely spacious, clean room. Wifi was really good. Staff very pleasant. Breakfast was great and Tracy , the breakfast room attendant was outstanding. She kept everything replenished and was very nice. recommend the place if you are in Chester
This BW looked new or at least its been given a big facelift. Everything was clean. Front desk people were very warm and nice. Location is in the center of town so we could walk to many restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
We chose this hotel because it broke up our family drive from Nevada to the California coast well. We expected to have just a stop over evening, not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised with how accommodating and nice this location was. The warm, welcoming staff and rooms made this the best Best Western we have ever stayed at. The scenery of the location only added to a wonderful place that we will visit again in the future.
The hotel sits on the main highway through town but was surprisingly quiet. The rooms were average but clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There were barbecues in the back lawn area but I did not see them being used. All in all a pleasant place for a short stay.
There is not much choice in Chester, which is a very small town - people are either going to Lasson or coming back. It is a shame that nothing much has been done with the place, as there are lots of people wanting somewhere to eat/stay. The BW was good, the room was fine - breakfast was good quality. One of the better BW inns we have been to.
Traveling with my dog and stopped to visit friends in Lake Almanor. Nice room and my dogs was welcome. Not much to do in Chestet. Employees very pleasant and welcoming. Fairly new building. Breakfast included.
Management has done a great job of upgrading the hotel with quality materials. Easy curb access to the 300 series rooms. Best towels we have encountered on a three week road trip! Excellent resaurant and grocery near.
Perfectly fine property. Clean and modern, pretty much what you would expect. Breakfast was chain-hotel quality (microwaved stuff, plus the waffle maker.) Staff was friendly, and overall it worked for us!
Nicest hotel in the area has breakfast nice people clean a little pricey but not a lot of choices in the area stick with pizza next door Copper Kettle has good food hope you catch a big fish or two or three
The hotel is under construction, and the staff is extremely helpful during this event. Breakfast in the Lobby, it's like camping! A restful night after a long day of work and travel. Thank you Best western Quartz Inn.
nestled in a forest, surrounded by mountains and next to a beautiful lake there's lots to see and do - and when you return you can relax in the refreshing hot tub near the barbecue and fire-pit... always clean rooms, working AC, internet, cable TV and a large breakfast area makes for an enjoyable stay...
Clean, large room and bathroom. Centrally located in the City of Chester. Convenient to restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Rooms are equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven.
Location = AAAA+ (Good), 40 minutes from Lassen National Park and near Almanor lake, 5 minutes from food store. Nice and very friendly staff. Large room, new furniture, microwave, refrigerator, iron in the room. Huge breakfast area. Barbecue and fire area. Hotel has fitness room (only 5 simulators, but new) and conference room. Hot tube place (closed in winter). Free breakfast and wifi.
We stopped overnight on a roadtrip (so arrived around 6 or 7pm, and left around 9 or 10 the next morning). This was a great room - modern, comfortable, clean. There are a couple of shops around to buy a bottle of wine. The town is small, but the Chinese restaurant has good food. There is a laundromat a couple of doors down, which was really handy. Breakfast is included, and is the usual fare - scrambled eggs (a bit rubbery, but we were at the end of the breakfast shift), sausages, waffle machine.
We enjoy staying at Camp Wilson in Prattville during the summer months. Our RV is stored in Crescent Mills during the winter. We had to make a sudden trip to check on our RV after the warehouse flooded during the recent heavy rains. Chester is the main town nearby and BW Rose Quartz Inn is our favorite hotel in town. The staff were great as we had to change our reservation a couple of times due to uncertain travel because of the flooding. They managed to have one of the pet friendly rooms available. After a stressful 7 hour trip to arrive in Chester, it was a wonderful restful place to renew our energy before the next day's trip to evaluate the damage. The rooms are reasonably spacious and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast is served each morning, which is a nice start to the day. The good news is the damage to our RV is repairable and not too extensive because our rig is high off the ground. Looking forward to this summer again at Camp Wilson and regular trips into Chester to enjoy the town's restaurants and activities. This is a great hotel to stay at while exploring the area around, including Mount Lassen, several other small towns like Greenville, Taylorsville and Crescent Mills. This is a fun area to explore and a great hotel to have as home base during your adventures!
Comfortable stay while touring around beautiful scenery and day trips to water falls - lovely local pub with very welcoming and friendly locals who made us feel at home. Few sightings of bears have been seen which is exciting. Hotel had everything we needed including parking.
A large winter storm was chasing us south out of Oregon and we managed to stay one day ahead of it. Chester was easily accessible and the next day Hwy 395 out of Susanville was sunny and dry. Again, the room was great, and I took advantage of the work out room. I especially liked their elliptical but they also had a stair stepper and treadmill. The room has two TV's and a wall of mirrors. Winter is quiet time in Chester. We didn't hear a peep out of any other guests. The breakfast area is spacious and few were there when we sat down. What a great experience when traveling long distance during the winter. One of the great treasures in Chester is Lake Almanor. What a beautiful huge lake. Access to it is a short distance away. We highly recommend the Chinese restaurant next door. The food is very good and the staff very friendly. I went back to compliment the cook at this family run and staffed restaurant.
I-80 from Reno to the Sacramento Valley was horribly impacted do to a series of winter storms. Having lived in Lake Almanor for many years we new of a safe route over the sierra's was via SR36 from Susanville west. Was aware of the Rose Quartz inn in Chester. Great facility and experience. Thanks Best Western
Stayed here one night with the family as we visited the area... nice and quiet with an upstairs room... check in was fast and professional, no pool or hot tub, no laundry room, breakfast was average, only negative thing I experienced was the beds only had a cpl sheets and a small very thin blanket if u want to call it that... where's the bedding people!?? I know there is a heater in the room but I want to feel like I have something covering me!!! U guys would have had 5 stars
We stayed at the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn in Chester, Ca for 1-night in early Sept ($135). We chose Chester because it was the most convenient town to stay in while heading south after a visit to Mount Lassen National Park. That being said, there is not much to attract you to Chester, which is a very small town with a strip of motels and an occasional restaurant on the approach to the very small downtown core. The Best Western consisted of 2 long, narrow buildings facing the central parking lot that stretched back from the highway – the main, 2-storey building with the lobby, breakfast area and typical chain rooms, and a single storey building housing motel units with small tables and chairs out front. Behind was a fenced area with a small jacuzzi and an attractive seating area with chairs, tables and umbrellas (inexplicably pad-locked when we were there), and an open grassy area with a fire pit and gas barbeque. Our king room was large and decorated in the typical BW manner; unfortunately, there was an adjoining door to the room next door through which we could clearly hear the neighbours in the morning. The bathroom was huge, with a bath tub, shower and very large vanity; unfortunately, it was a bit rundown with an old toilet that tended to stick, chipped enamel, and a fan that was permanently on (noisy at night). Because we didn't see much for restaurants along the strip or in town, we drove 15 min to the peninsula to dine at the Red Onion – expensive at $25-35 entrees, but an excellent fusion menu. Breakfast at the hotel was reasonable, with sausage and egg patties, waffles, juice, milk and coffee, but no fresh fruits. Overall, the Quartz Inn delivered reasonable if somewhat flawed (noise, closed patio and jacuzzi) value but for a relatively high price for such a small town. That being said, it is probably the best bet in Chester.
We enjoyed our stay here in July. We stayed here so we could visit Lassen Volcanic National Park. The breakfast was good. Our room was nice and spacious, too. There were tea, cookies, and hot chocolate in the lobby when we arrived, which we appreciated. There are two buildings at this hotel, we stayed in the main building. There was lots of information about Lassen and trails that were posted near the elevator. The hotel is in a good location on the main road in Chester. It is near a laundromat that we used, there is also a grocery store very close by as well. My only complaint about this stay was that the hot tub wasn't working (it was still open, but it wasn't hot). After a long day of hiking it would have been nice to relax in the hot tub. Overall, I would stay here again.
Everything about this hotel was very good except for the hallway and upstairs noise in the older, main building. The single story annex that was completed in 2015 seems to be better insulated from noise during my previous stay last year (Oct. 2015). My ratings reflect my experience in the main building.
This is a very modern and updated Best Western. The staff was accommodating and helpful. The room was large, clean and comfortable with excellent WiFi and TV reception. The breakfast included prepared eggs, sausage, waffles, fruits and juices. We stayed in the single story separate addition with ample parking and easy access. I would recommend asking for a room towards the back away from the road.
Chester is a small town that is a good stepping off point for the Lassen National Park. The hotel is on the main road through the town. There is little to say about the property - the room was clean and comfortable with a reasonable wifi signal, the front desk staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was the usual Best Western selection. Would I stay there again? Possibly, although it was bit expensive for what it offered.
Great hotel. Comfortable and easy to find. Everything you need in a small town. We stayed 2 nights and it was great. Big bathroom and comfortable bedroom. Super market across the street. 1 hour from Lassen National Park
Tidy, well-kept property. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. There was not a pool at this property, but the hot tub was clean and well maintained. There are plenty of options for restaurants in this small town: pizza, Mexican, sandwiches, family diner, etc. The property and the town are very quiet.
The Chester Best Western's self-description talks about "hotel amenities". HA! This is a bare bones motel at hotel prices. We stayed at a Hampton Inn not 60 miles away for $50 LESS PER NIGHT(!) with great amenities, cleanliness and hospitality. When paying $150 for this Best Western I expected AT LEAST what the comfort, amenities and cleanliness of a motel that is $50 a night cheaper would provide. Nope! Other than the box cookies at the front desk, there is nothing that rings of "amenity" at the Chester Best Western. Six of the eight pillows were horribly lumpy. We found a used washcloth in the bathroom (GROSS!!) The coffee pot maker was dirty. Clearly, it had not been cleaned in many uses. When I approached the manager, she said she could give a small discount for the washcloth. When I asked her why the room was so expensive, she said, "The season." What?! We were there in late September. About the only other people there are Cal Trans workers and retirees. Way too much money for what you get at this place. Go with the cheaper places in town - you'll be happier!
Checked in here late night on my way to Lassen National Park. Very welcoming and quick to check in. Room was just what I needed (comfy bed, quiet, etc.). While I was only here for about 6 hours, it was a really good experience. Would stay here again.
Since this hotel opened, we have stayed every year for a week. We enjoy the people operating the hotel, especially Amy and her staff and the amenities. The rooms are good especially on the second floor due to the views.
The hotel is standard Best Western fare, that's not to say it's bad it certainly isn't it just isn't anything special. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The hotel has WiFi but it is not super fast. There is a free breakfast which is OK and there is free coffee and cookies available in the afternoon. The location is OK at best, about 30 minutes from Lassen and close to the shore of Lake Almanor.
Located on the main street in the middle of town. Staff were welcoming. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was filling and included in the rate. Everything appeared new. No allocated parks which may have been a problem if they were at capacity.
This is the best lodging in the area. It is quiet, clean, and has acceptable wi-fi. It has all the amenities you expect at a Best Western. Breakfast choices limited. Room very clean and had comfortable seats.
Very nice and clean. Nice - sized room with large bathroom and lots of counter space. Good choice for "base" if visiting Lassen National Park. Would definitely recommend as probably the nicest hotel in Chester. Hot breakfast included.
Arrived to a backed-up toilet. A less than clean room. A room that I felt should have been remodeled a few years ago. This motel has a campfire pit and horseshoe pit. They allowed a bunch of loud people to play horseshoes and talk loudly into the early morning hours. I was told by management that they had no policy to deal with this except to ask the noisy folks to be quieter. The hot tub closes at 10pm. The horseshoes and campfire can go all night. If sleep is what you are looking for, you might want to look elsewhere.
Overall a good experience. Bed was on the hard side and breakfast items were similar to fast food. Cleanliness and staff were outstanding. I've stayed at many Best Westerns in multiple states and this one would rank in the 70% range of quality.
It was a while between my review of TripAdvisor and my stay at this hotel. Sooner before my visit, I looked at the hotel's website and braced myself (and my boyfriend) for the outdated rooms and unhygienic bedspreads. It was a great surprise to get into the room and discover a double-sheeted bed and flat screen TV. Check-in was okay; no one at the desk when we arrived and the man who works there (manager?) was definitely on the gruffer side. He still recommended a restaurant for us, which was right next door and turned out to be pretty good. It was nice that the hotel had a luggage cart available. We were on the 2nd floor around halfway down the hallway, facing the parking lot. Overall the room was pretty quiet, though the next morning doors were slammed three times in rapid succession which was annoying. I much prefer inner hallways since there's no issue of people walking past your window. The room size was good and the price was decent. The bathroom was oddly large and I didn't love the layout. It was also strange that the coffee maker was in there. I didn't like that the towel rack was over the toilet since I kept feeling like the washcloths were going to fall into the water. Nowhere in the shower to set products except for the edges of the tub. However, the shower head was up high (good for my tall bf) and the water pressure was good. There was a black kleenex holder in the bathroom that was obviously quite dusty and hadn't been washed off. A long dark hair not belonging to us also turned up in the bathroom. I was surprised to see so many rooms identified as suites; this didn't seem to be well-advertised on the site and I think only two-bed suites are listed while they seem to have some with single beds too. The hot tub was fairly large, but not that hot, and there is a camera recording you while you're in there, so beware ;o) We didn't try the breakfast since we wanted a chance to sleep in and it's just from 6-9 so too early for us. (I recommend Cravings if you skip the hotel breakfast.) Chester is a fairly random place to visit, but from my research, this looks like the best hotel in pretty close proximity to Mount Lassen. Would stay again if ever back in the area.
We chose to stay in the single story rooms, which were completely remodeled and super convenient as we like to drive right up to the room to unload. Very friendly staff and better than average breakfast.
Nice spacious rooms. Very comfortable for 3 people to share. Everything worked in the room. Very good breakfast with an attendant making sure that the food is restocked throughout the breakfast. Very friendly staff. The price was high considering this is a very small town in a resort area that could stand to attract a few more customers.
We stay here every year when we come to Lake Almanor. This hotel is consistently clean and comfortable and the service is always friendly and good. Beds are comfortable and hot breakfast is free. They have the trademark BW waffle maker. The only thing that would improve it would be actually berries and bananas, possibly melon instead of just apples and oranges for breakfast. Located right on the main drag in Chester (and a short drive to the local Holiday Market where one can buy oneself some breakfast berries...) They have a very large suite perfect for a family with teenagers!
Motorcycle trip to Lassen. Motel was well situated - close to park. Break fest was outstanding. Staff directed us to super restaurant for star gazing - Playas Pines. Just a good experience all around.
OK, it is a motel, not a luxury resort, and to be honest, one of the beds had the double valley look of too much use. Still it was comfortable, and the other bed was fine (we booked a double queen). We loved this place. The room was spacious, not cramped like most motels, with two racks for luggage and space next to the bed to put up the racks. There was a closet to hang things up and large drawers. The bathroom was large with a shower that produced real water pressure. The AC was quiet and efficient. It was nice having an adequately sized microwave and refrigerator, both in good working order. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in and out was a breeze. The breakfast assortment was outstanding. The lounge is nice and there were free books to loan, as well as the usual TV fare. There is an outside fire pit and hot tub. I liked the quartz rocks scattered about the grounds. Parking is ample, though there are not convenient suitcase ramps. We had just come from a "boutique" motel at twice the cost, where they doled out ice like it was the last water in California, so we were maybe a little overpleased at ready access to the ice machine. Still I can think of no missing basic amenity. With a shortage of accommodations nearer, it is the best bet for a base for Lassen Volcanic National Park. There is an assortment of restaurants nearby, none of them special, but at least there is some choice. Nearby gas is on the high end, suspect there is no competition.
We had two rooms - one in the main building and the other across the way. The room that was ground level was actually two rooms (sitting room and bedroom) which was great so my kids could sleep while my husband and I could stay up a bit longer without disturbing them. My mother and my other son stayed in the main building and also had a pleasant night there too. The bathrooms were huge in both rooms and the rooms themselves were clean. The breakfast buffet was perfect for what we needed - the kids loved making their own waffles and there was a good selection of food. This was a reasonably priced clean room and a lovely, friendly small town! Glad we stopped here.
I use Best Western for all my travel needs, they are always very friendly and very helpful. I have never had a negative experience in all my stays and I am on the road every week. I do enjoy the fact that I am able to have my breakfast on sight this allows to start my day with a good meal.
Nice large room, huge bathroom, comfortable bed. Store bought cookies available when we arrived along with lemonade, water, and coffee. Cookies were available almost every time we walked through the lobby. Gym was small but adequate for a couple of people, but the temperature in there was HOT, not sure if AC was working or not. I noticed some people propped the door open while in there. No swimming pool, but the hot tub looked nice, but it's open to those sitting on the side of the building. Breakfast was great, had tons of selections, even biscuits and gravy (but heat up your biscuit). Only downfall was they didn't have bacon - but rarely does any hotel offer bacon. Staff was very helpful and kind and accommodating. Not a lot of choices for food in Chester. The first night we ate at the Burger Depot (within walking distance of hotel). The food was good. The owner is nice but he talks non-stop. Closes at 8:00 pm. The second night we drove about 15 minutes to Westwood, CA, for pizza at Buffalo Chips. The place was packed and the pizza was the best I've ever had. The fountain drinks on the other hand were awful - they tasted like algee (I'm sure if you are from there you don't notice). Didn't bother switching to water because fountain drink machines use water as part of the mix. When you arrive you walk through the front dining area to place your order at the counter. We waited at least 20 minutes just to place the order (and there were only 3 people/couples in front of us). Though the lady taking orders wasn't friendly, all the other staff was.
No other choice really in this town.So we had to stay here. What a surprise !!! Modern, big rooms, good beds, standard continental breakfast with paper plates and plastic cutlery .3 hot dishes also. Small outdoor hot tub and good sun loungers. An overall feeling of space. A cross between hotel and motel I'd say. Better than than most Holiday Inn Express and suites, Hampton Inns and suites etc that I've used. Perhaps I should start looking at Best Western more. Excellent for access to and distance from Lassen Volcanic National Park where we visited for three days. BUT housekeeping let them down , but not enough for me to downgrade them Examples : On arrival found the coffee machine hadn't been cleaned out and standard coffee wasn't in the tray. Second day coffee was sorted but bath tub hadn't been cleaned. Small things that leave a slightly bad taste. But not bad enough to make me not stay another night! Another tip perhaps. Bedding would look much better if it was ironed and not look as though someone else had been in it and could be tucked in properly. As I say small things that make a difference. By the way I KNOW the bedding was washed and was clean!!!!
Arrived following an afternoon at Lassen Volcanic Park. Got a room across car park to save carrying cases up stairs in main block. Rooms very spacious with a huge bad. Gap under door let some bugs in -but minimal hassle. Chester is very quiet with few places to eat - the few that are there shut at 8pm -surprised to see Chester like a ghost town by 9pm on a Saturday night. Breakfast is hotel is basic but more than adequate -waffles are delicious. Fine location for the Park.
i am a truck-driver and i stay in hotels twice a week - almost always in a Best Western... Rose Quartz Best Western in Chester is one of my favorite Best Westerns to stay in, not only because of the beautiful mountain/lake setting it is immersed in but because Amy, the Manager, always make me feel like family when i walk through the front door... flawless internet and cable; clean, comfortable rooms; quiet; beautiful lobby and huge breakfast area; outdoor jacuzzi next to a real fire-pit; restaurants, cafes and market all just a beautiful walk away; and Amy who knows the area well - what more could one ask for?
We were here for a trip to Lassen Volcanic Nation Park, which is a relatively convenient 30 minute drive. away. This isn't a luxury hotel but they do their best to make it so. Our room was clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The front desk staff gave us a lot of advice on activities on Lake Almanor. Breakfast was good, and the woman who works the breakfast room was always bustling to keep everything stocked. They had pitchers of ice water and iced tea set out in the afternoons, along with cookies, which were very welcome after a hot day at Lassen (which is spectacular, btw).
My two young children and I stayed at the Rose Quartz Inn and it was wonderful in every way. The staff went out of their way to help us. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We needed to borrow cell phone power cords, and they had a selection available. We used the fitness center, restaurant and business center, and everything was fine. I would highly recommend this hotel.
My wife & I stayed here for 1 night in June this year whilst touring Northern California. Firstly, let me say there is not much in Chester, but as a stop-over location the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn fits the bill quite well. Our welcome was friendly and our room was clean, large, fairly standard accommodation which was more than adequate for 1 night. Breakfast was self-service and not great quality – easily the poorest breakfast we had during our month in California. I'm not sure what the alternatives are in Chester, but we would happily stay at Rose Quartz Inn again.
While there are not many options in this area, this hotel was not only a great value but very clean and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable and room was the right size. Very good hot breakfast. The Staff was very helpful. It is a very Beautiful and peaceful place overall. We would definitely return
Nicest hotel in the area no doubt. Good facilities, nice helpful staff. Rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast facilities were good and choices were plenty. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good, comfortable and clean place to spend a night.
We camp in the area and have had emergencies where the hotel has helped us even though we have already left. Once my cell phone was dead and they let me use the phone for a long distance call. This trip we realized the youngest grandson did not have his medications and they allowed us to have them overnight shipped to the hotel's main desk. The breakfasts are great and a good deal. I forgot my ice packs after surgery and they provided zip lock bags for me. I cannot say enough!
We stayed in the rooms across from the main building with outdoor entrances. Advantages: quiet, spacious suites with easy access from parking lot. Disadvantages: Lights from parking lot shine through windows and ants invaded our bathroom. The suites are very roomy since we had a room that had handicap access. Fridge and microwave are in the room with the sofabed. The breakfast was pretty good: eggs, waffles, toast, cereal, pastries and yogurt. All in all, the best place to stay in a small town like Chester.
Very pleased with this hotel. Quiet area to be in. The room with two queen beds was spacious, and the huge bathroom was a very nice surprise. The complimentary breakfast was good - a good selection to choose from. Clean hotel overall, although the hair dryer was sticky. Close to eating places and Holiday Market. A bit too far from Lassen National Park though. No laundry facilities. Kleenex box when empty was not replaced, had to ask the front desk.
We were looking for somewhere to stay while camping with a pet (wanted a shower/bed) and this worked. I was pleasantly surprised. The price was around $150 for a weekend summer night and we could bring our dog. When we arrived we received a cute little dog treat package. The hotel is simple but clean. No problems with check in or check out- the buffet in the morning was really nice and included in the price. Waffles, yogurt, an assortment of pastries/breads, fruit, juice, coffee, eggs, etc. More than simple buffet. My only negative is that the heater in the room would kick on often and it was pretty loud so I didn't sleep so well. If you don't think you will need that, then it won't affect you and maybe it was just my room or I'm sensitive to it? Otherwise, perfect!
Absolutely wonderful place to stay in Chester, CA and is about 30 minutes east of the southern entrance to Lassen. Facility was very clean and seemed relatively new. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was spacious. There was a nice selection of cookies and lemonade set out when we arrived. Every staff member we encountered was polite, helpful and pleasant! Breakfast was included and featured a variety of hot and cold options. Would definitely stay there again!
We stayed here as we were visiting Lassen Volcanic NP. It was a little over 30 min to the Kohm Yah-ma-nee Visitor Center in the park. The hotel itself wasn't the best, but I mean, what would you expect for a small town like Chester? The room was okay but could've used some better and more updated decor. The bathroom was quite big but was pretty dirty. The breakfast was actually better than we expected--there were hot foods like eggs, sausage, and potatoes, and there were also things like yogurt, cereal, and pastries. Overall this hotel isn't bad if you are planning on going to Lassen NP (it is closest to the Southwest Entrance).
Don't stay here...too pricey, staff are unprofessional locals with tattoos and attitudes, bugs in the rooms (they into the room thru the large gap under the door in the cottages...certainly not worth the money
This is far best hotel among the any hotel in Chester. Free Breakfast makes it even better. Hot Waffles, Biscuit and Gravy and Egg sandwich are my favorites, It has variety of fresh juice and many other items to chose. Internet was flawless
A very affordable place to stay while visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park. I booked 2 suits and 1 queen room for my party of 17. The suit rooms were very spacious and clean that six people could stay in comfortably. There were also plenty of parking when my group arrived late at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nicole made checking in so easy and pleasant while Daniella was very helpful in providing Lassen Volcanic National Park information. I would come back to Best Western Rose Quartz Inn on my next trip to the park.
Room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was good (based on the BW and similar hotel standards). The staff was friendly and the stay was pleasant. If you are booking a pet friendly room, do let them know in advance as there are very few rooms available to travelers with pets....
Beautiful hotel. Nice hot tub. Ask for a room in the Manor House section (single story)...very neat and clean and very quiet. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a nice hotel in a small town. Location is great too for visiting Lassen Park.
The Best Western Rose Quartz Inn was great. The staff is friendly and is extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean. We didn't get up in time to enjoy the breakfast but we did enjoy the coffee in the lobby which was really good. The only downside for us were the beds. They were not very comfortable. They were very firm and we woke up sore every morning. We stayed 2 nights and that was probably all we could handle. Other then that it was great. Big rooms with a nice sized bathroom. We would stay there again.
We stayed at the Rose Quartz again this past weekend while in Chester for a family event. We received the same excellent service that we have experienced in the past. We loved the upgraded complimentary breakfast. The staff recognized that we were repeat visitors and we were treated like old friends. It was a very enjoyable feeling.
What a great experience! Nice surroundings, Lake Almanor is amazing! This is a wonderful locale near the Lassen Wilderness. This lake is huge and so pristine. The hotel is very nice and everything we had expected. Once inside it became even nicer with a fabulous breakfast area and efficient staff. The room was large with a vanity that actually accommodates two people! I would evaluate this hotel as being the (overall) best in more than two dozen BW stays around the country over the past 3 years. We love the forested locale and Northern California is simply terrific.
We recently stayed 2 nights at the BW Rose Quartz Inn. The room was very clean and spacious, nice amenities with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker & outdoors is a hot tub (no pool), horseshoe pit, fire pit & BBQ area. The breakfast was also a pleasant addition, better than the average continental breakfast, with waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes & gravy included + more. The staff was very attentive & friendly. The only downside is that they must seriously lack insulation because it was very noisy and since we had a downstairs room, the room above us had a kid running around that sounded like a heard of elephants from below and every time the upstairs toilet flushed it sounded like Niagara falls in our room. My suggestion would be to be sure to get an upstairs room or bring earplugs. Otherwise, everything else was good & we would return. (Note for disabled guests, hotel is adequately disabled accessible & even has a hot tub chair lift).
The hotel is in a great location, but our room wasn't ready when we came to check in at 3. The clerk asked us to come back in 20 minutes, and when we returned close to 4 it still wasn't ready. When we finally did get keys to our room, the keys were not coded properly. This hotel needs to get more organized to leave people with a positive impression.
clean hotel and rooms, great staff and service - and the breakfast area is big and comfortable with fresh, hot coffee and nice selection of food... within walking distance of a market (right across the street) and restaurants, and beautiful Lake Almanor nearby...
We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at this property. Everything was clean and every one of the staff made us feel at home. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling between Reno and Chico. Thank you Best Western Chester, California
Literally. I guess the hotel and town must serve visitors to the Lassen area (my purpose) but Chester itself seems like a town that time forgot, no offense intended to residents. The hotel itself seems brand new, and it's very good, though not very memorable either. The staff seem friendly and helpful. Pick their brains about where to eat! The rooms are large and very comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast is exceptionally good. We were there one night only so there is not much more to say, but I have two nitpicks. Logging on to the wifi can be irritating, because the network security credential comes up suspect. That should be easily fixed. The bathrooms are immense with a huge right angle counter (only one sink though). The sink is in the corner with the result that if you shave with a razor, you see yourself only far away and at an angle. Disconcerting and not so easily fixed. Nonetheless I would certainly stay there again, and indeed there is little choice!
Currently staying here, hotel and staff are absolutely lovely - special thanks to Tracey at the front desk and Ann Marie both were so attentive and happy to help with anything we needed. Town is adorable, drive was beautiful we are just very happy guests. Thank you!
It looked nice on the hotels.com and I was not disappointed. The room was very nice. I had hoped for a view over the lake but that was not the case. The location was OK as I wanted to walk to a restaurant and drink local beer. The sleep quality was very good.
i have stayed at the Best Western Rose Quartz Inn in Chester on numerous business trips for about 9 years - in the dead of winter with 2 feet of snow when there are few other guests, and in the summer when it is packed with tourists... the beds are really comfortable and the TV / internet have never given me any problems - i've never had one bad experience... it's always very clean and organized, they always have hot coffee available 24/7 in the beautiful lobby, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful... unlike many hotels with free continental breakfast, they have a large breakfast area with lots of tables... although they have a jacuzzi, there is no pool - but beautiful Lake Almanor is only 5 minutes away... it is right in the center of quaint Chester - within walking distance to everything... i highly recommend it...
Enjoyed a one night stay while enroute north to Canada. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely appointed with comfortable beds. The walls are not very soundproof so we could hear our neighbours coughing. Breakfast was good and served in a nice sized room. Attractive lobby with all day coffee. Parking was good. No elevator but not an issue for us. Had dinner at the Kopper Kettle, typical diner food but good.
The hotel was clean and staff were very courteous, if you are going to stay in Chester I would recommend this hotel. Close to Lassen National Park. Note that the pool and hot tub are closed for the winter.
This is a great place to stop on your way through or spend a few days. The hotel is very clean and still seems in new condition. The staff is very helpful and efficient from reservation and check in to check out. Would be nice to see a better selection of breakfast items but then again, the "Cravings" restaurant is just down the street. Will stay here again for sure.
I stayed here a little more than a week ago. Calm, serene environment all around, 1.5 miles from Lake Almanor where you can go visit during the day and come back again at night for gorgeous stargazing experience. What more can you ask for (if you are indeed looking for an escape from all the hustles and bustles of the city life)?
I am one of the person who loves nature. You can come to Chester and enjoy the beautiful Lake Almanor and lush green mountains. Spring is just around the corner and everything looks beautiful. Chester is a small town and very peaceful. A stay at Best western was a pleasant experience. If you are looking for a party town then Chester is not your town.
I had wonderful time in Chester. I went fishing in Lake Almanor. It was cold. very cold but rewarding because i caught two fishes. I liked the breakfast at Best Western. I thought it would be continental breakfast but it was much more than that. hot waffles, Egg and sausage sandwich, hot bisscut and Gravey, fruit, yogurt, cereal and much more. Internet service was Great. I would come back
Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We had some car trouble and the front desk was helpful, even if it was to tell us that a mechanic wouldn't be open on a Sunday. Internet wasn't fast enough to stream TV, which was frustrating but not the end of the world. If you visit in winter, keep in mind that only a few restaurants are open.
I had called for a late check in since we were traveling from Lake Tahoe, they had answered promptly and sge was very pleasant. Check in and check out was quick and both ladies were friendly. The room was huge with a large bathroom, microwave and fridge. Breakfast was nice. The hotel was booked full for the holiday and it was kept well stocked. The town was quaint, but not much open at 8pm. I would highly recommend for travelers.
The room is of good size, fridge and microwave, flat screen TV. Small desk with 2 chairs. The bathroom is large with lots of counter space. No nightlight. Clean. Nice beds. No duvet. In room AC unit. Wifi very slow with hardly anyone staying. Location is town center, close to restaurants, gas and grocery store. A beach is a few miles away. Lassen park is about 30 min away.
The best western in Chester was nothing special. The room we had was noisy.I'm not sure if it was due to thin walls or a half inch gap under the front door. The bed wasn't very comfortable as well. The hot tub was off and the free breakfast was not that great.I had a stale bagel and cereal. I would stay there again for that price.
Good first impression on my call & then 10 minutes later a smiley clerk checked us in & was very accommodating. Room was spacious & clean with microwave & Refrigerator. Fun little Sports Grill right next door for dinner...too many beers? No problem. ??. Breakfast was a total surprise. Mid winter, 3 people in this little small town mountain hotel & they had eggs, waffles, sausage, gravy, fruit, yogurt, multiple hot & cold cereals & multiple sweet rolls & at least 3 kinds of bread! I'm a frequent guest in motels & I've seen 1/2 the spread in much larger accommodations. Very impressed. It was fresh & hot. We also noticed a nice conference room & exercise room. Very pleased on all counts, will definitely return.
They have separate rooms for those with pets! It is centrally located, so easy to see all the sites and enjoy. Built just a few years ago, so it is still in excellent condition. Close to Lake Almanor for a pleasant day! Really not too far for a wonderful time seeing Mt. Lassen. Lassen was the last active volcano until Mt St Helen erupted. There are trails and places to stop along the road. Highway 32 is a beautiful drive as is Feather River Canyon to reach Chester.
Chester is known for a small but peaceful city. It was nice to sit in my room near window and watch as snow fall. The roads were open but i stayed at motel and enjoyed the hot breakfast. the coffee was available 24/7 and I enjoyed it very much along with some biscuits.
We decided to come up early to beat the snow and have a family night before friends arrived and we went to their cabin. The hotel was perfect. Our rooms were nice, they have all been upgraded to have a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The beds were comfortable and my son loved the cot. We are a family of five so the room got cramped but when that happened we went out back and played in the snow. The staff was great, we requested a cot, late checkout, and advice about getting a tube for the kids to slide on, all were taken care of with no problems. The room cost about $110 but the breakfast rocked and saved me $40 instead of paying for my family to eat out. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a room in Chester.
Stayed here for two nights on storm damage..has continental breakfast..and a small, small gym..in the center of town..best your gonna get around the area..the rooms are well kept and roomy..there are a few more options in town but nothing as clean as this..
Hotel is in the center of Chester, a small town near Lake Almanor. Although it is on the main drag it was quiet. We managed to get their only suite as it was the only king bed available and it was nice. Large bedroom, bath, living room and kitchen. It would be nice for a family staying a while. There are eating places down the street, The Tavern had great food and drinks. If you are a fan of Dave Brubeck and WW11 planes you will love the place. Good breakfast.
A Great Motel in a small town of Chester. The only motel in Chester which serves Hot Breakfast. The breakfast has a good choices of food items. Sausage, Beacon, Hot Biscuit & Garvey, Fresh Juices and Fresh fruit and lot more. It is great to start with nice breakfast and save money because you don't have to get breakfast anywhere else. Overall it was a Great stay and I would recommend it everyone.
Totally enjoyed my stay here. Everyone is super friendly and the Chester is such a cute little town. Def stop and stay here, you won't be dissappointed! The room was really nice and spacious. Not to mention, the nice smell of clean air and blue skies are awesome to wake up to!
Chester is a small town with everything you need. It has a large local supermarket that is open until 10:00 PM, 365 days a year. This was a lovely hotel. The room was great, staff very accommodating, and they had a delicious full hot breakfast. At breakfast they didn't have any eggs (except hard-boiled). I asked the kitchen staff, and they said they didn't serve them, but volunteered to make me 2 scrambled eggs, which they did. It was a quiet hotel and we were able to sleep with our window open and enjoy the cool air. It was well worth the 30-40 minute drive to Lassen to come back to stay in this hotel in this friendly town. They offer a deep discount for military which we appreciated.
I stayed one night on a recent trip to Lassen National Park. The hotel in central Chester, CA is well located to a number of restaurants and a nice grocery store to prepare for your trip to the park. Plenty of places to eat or shop are within walking distance. My room was very quiet, masking the sounds of other guests quite well. The breakfast was fine with regular items and even a waffle machine. Overall, Chester is a great gateway to Lassen NP, especially the less visited back-country areas and I hope to return. The town has a number of other sites like the Pine Museum to keep visitors involved as well, I fully recommend staying at the BW in Chester!
Chester is a very small town that is somewhat close to Lassen Volcanic National Park (a real gem) and also close to a beautiful lake called "Lake Almanor". We were there for Lassen - a magnificent natural wonder - and we knew the town did not have many options for hotels, so we went with Best Western based on other experience we've had with the brand. Sadly, this hotel did not live up to our expectations. The whole place just looks worn, and while I would go so far as to say that it wasn't clean overall, I was uncomfortable with the extremely old sheets and duvet covers that were soft (a good thing) but not really "fresh" feeling (kind of unsettling). The worst part, however, was the filthy carpet. There were at least 3 large stains and the rest just looked brownish where it should have been beige. The refrigerator was not on and when I turned the knob to set the temperature, it fell off in my hand. When I finally got the frig. to kick in, there was no way to actually regulate the temperature. When I made coffee with the supplies they left to do so, the "pods" were the wrong size for the coffee maker and so consequently the coffee was more like a weak tea and undrinkable. The shower was fine, but there was no exhaust fan or else it wasn't working, so of course the entire room got steamy. The breakfast was all junk food from the sugary cereals to the sugar-laden yogurt to the pastries slathered with frosting. The one thing I tried was a blueberry muffin that tasted like a really cheap grocery-store effort. To be fair, I did not directly complain about any of these things because we only stayed one night and I felt that there was no point in doing so. Also, the people at the desk and in the cafe were very nice. Maybe this place passes for OK to some people, but my feeling was that it's a place that needs way more than TLC, it needs a complete make-over. I would never stay there again.
I was driving through Chester and I decided to Stay at Best Western Rose Quartz. The Place was clean, very comfortable and quite place. The 2nd day I went to visit Lassen National park. I hiked to Bumpas Hell. It was 30 minutes hike. You really get to appreciate the nature when you see the hot bubbling mud and pressure air coming from earth.
We were greeted warmly and treated professionally. Staff was knowledgeable about the area and provided helpful advice for activities. The room was clean and amenities, including the breakfast, were the usual and very nice. The biscuits and gravy at breakfast could use some tweaking for flavor, but overall very good. The value was excellent so don't waste time or effort looking elsewhere to stay. Some places were already closed or very run down. The food at Copper Kettle just down the road was excellent.
backside rooms overlook garbage grinding machinery and garbage dumpsters - very noisy all night and early morn we booked non-pet non-smoke room but it was not actually available when we arrived - were givne lesser non-pet room for same rate
Very nice hotel in a little town. Was put in a new (3 week old) room and I couldn't have asked for more. Big room, comfortable bed, quiet. Made the reservations while on the road using the Best Western mobile app as we needed a place to stay before visiting Lassen National Park the next day. I would definitely stay there again.
Very friendly staff here from reception to the breakfast room folks. Clean rooms with all the amenities. Bed could have been a little more plush, but slept fine anyway. The heating/air conditioning units in this hotel are among the best - individually controlled by setting desired temp, and very very quiet. Breakfast was more than adequate. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Close to Lassen NP and Lake Almanor. Chester itself seems a little run down, but the surrounding scenery more than makes up for it. Recommended!
Clean, quiet, front desk staff average. Solid BW hotel, nothing over the top here and a bit on the high side for cost. Great night to open a window, but there were no screens! Breakfast average as well. Wi-fi is bad to none existent. AM clerk claims "we're in the mountains and when alot of people try to use it, it's slow". Not even a good excuse.
Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Best of all, however, two weeks after our stay, I discovered my jacket was missing. When I called, Amy confirmed it had been left in the room and offered to mail it, which she promply did. Such extraordinary, professional service warrants an excellent rating.
This is a very nice hotel in Chester, close to Mount Lassen National Park and Lake Almanor. The hotel and rooms are very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast is very good.
The place is beautiful, right in the middle of the little, gorgeous and nature surrounded Chester City. The staff is extremely courteous and the service is just about as good as it gets. Nice breakfast too. The hotel (and Chester City, for that regard) is very near to the magnificent and must-go Lassen Volcanic National park and the beautiful Almanor Lake.
