Best Western Ebbw Vale

The hotel was in a poor position in the tow, You have the choice of approaching down a steep hill, or along a badly damaged road. The car park was small with room for about 10 cars. There were very few breakfast options available. There was orange and apple juice and coffees from a machine. The full cooked breakfast was referred to as a "small breakfast" and consisted of only one of each item you would expect in a cooked breakfast. There were only 2 cereals (1 on our last day) bread, jams croissants and yogurts. It was not worth the extra we paid for it. The hanging space for clothes was a metal bar sticking out, about a foot long. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were flat and lumpy. The room was cold, but we had no means to warm it. It was noisy at night with loud voices and doors banging. After about 5 am there was a constant series of noises from showers, toilet flushes and more doors banging. There was nowhere to put our toiletries etc in the shower room. The shower leaked profusely, leaving little water in the shower head. The "bedside lights" were very bright and shone straight into our eyes when in the bed. The TV was too high up to see properly.

Stayed for the second year solo whilst visiting the Steelhouse Festival. Again, most enjoyable. Appreciated the flexibility given with check in and the offer of paid return transport to the venue. Room was spotless, had all I needed. I heard the chef was not in at the time of my breakfast. Staff remaining coped superbly. Booked reasonably late; had a very good value for money price. Will look to book earlier perhaps for 2027.

Clean, tidy and nice hotel. Staff are friendly and will accommodate to guest requirements. Food & service is great also.

Decent hotel with exceptional friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast very nice with quality food and decent coffee. Hotel very clean Only negative was ridiculously small sink in bathroom. Impossible to use with out water spilling on to floor and surrounds.

Ideally located for exploring the Rhonda Valley and Brecon Beacons. Basic hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff

Not stay in a best western again, Poor location, NO TV signal, complained and they could not provide a better signal staff told me has happened before. Great Staff but unfortunately if a complaint has been made before they should resolve this for future guests. no offer of a room with TV signal Wont go again

Best Western Ebbw Vale room very basic but clean and bed comfortable. A mirror placed by dressing table/ desk would be not only be helpful so you can see to do your hair and makeup etc but also good touch to the room. Unlike other Best Westerns that I've stayed at there was no iron so if staying pack one. Best part of the stay were the staff they were friendly and helpful.

When we already had lights and TV on, the boiling kettle overloaded the circuit and tripped everything out! Luckily we were not using shower at the time. Later found out that this had tripped as there was no hot water. Twice had to ask Receptionist to reset trip switch on circuit breakers. They already knew about the problem with tripping out, but had not bothered to fix it. Not just our room, a wheelchair user was caught in the lift when this happened! Scary (why he was not given a room on ground floor when there were rooms available was puzzling). Did not offer to change us to a different room because later found out it is their policy to do that only after two faults/complaints. Only offered a 10% discount on a future booking. Shambles and we will never return there.

The hotel is hidden away amidst some residential backstreets and first impressions weren't great when I found the extremely small car park (maybe 10 or less spaces) fully occupied. I therefore had to move my car to the (free) town car park 100m away. I was concerned about my car's security but it was fine. The staff member on reception was very friendly and check-in was efficient. My ground floor room was small but had everything I needed and importantly was clean. The one issue with the room was noise from a neighbouring room when they took a shower early in the morning, louder than any alarm clock and made my head rattle. I bought food from a nearby Tesco store as the onsite restaurant does not serve meals every night. I pre-paid for breakfast, the serving team were very friendly and there was admittedly a little wait for food as everything seemed to be cooked to order. The hot breakfast food I had was tasty so no complaints on the food front. Would I stay here again? Probably not. The lack of parking, residential location and noise from adjoining rooms (shower pump noise) means there are better options in the locality, but this is no reflection on the staff members who were very friendly and welcoming.

Really friendly staff and very helpful. Went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The rooms were very clean, and the hotel was quiet. We all got a great sleep.

Stayed here for a nights ,Nice copy beds and all very clean. Breakfast up to standard . Staff were spot on veg helpful ,polite and made you feel welcome. Special Thank you to Dan nothing was too much trouble even when he was pretty busy on his own ,very friendly too. Also to the lovely Sue so friendly and helpful . Thank you both. Will definitely stay here again.

Some problems I encountered were concerned with parking, the hotel being short-staffed,with regards to the restaurant not being fully manned, no heating,especially in the bathroom (no heated towel rail),thus stepping out of the shower made for a freezing experience.Inconsiderate guests,was something I found most days/nights. Would I stay here again?Most definitely, if only for the welcoming,friendly and helpful staff.

Staff lovely throughout our 3 day joint birthday stay, up from S Devon. However, a room upgrade to number 34 OK size wise, standard of finish very poor. Bed comfy but ill fitting sheet straight on to mattress. Chamber Maid woke us on morning one as Reception had not checked us in properly. Had to get room card unblocked twice, maddening. Breakfast initially absent & then undercooked and or cold, quality poor, only risked it once. Non cooked alternatives very poor, no fruit juice. Area around hotel residential but can be noisy, car park small. Very, very surprised 'Best Western' allow this in any shape or form, damages the brand. Just about tolerable but surprisingly disappointed. Area around the Brecons, friendly and glorious.

The room was very clean, a bit rough around the edges but comfy enough. The staff were all very friendly. The rooms have thin walls so could hear people next door but I am deep sleeper so slept very well. Would come back if in the area.

Booked on Hotels.com so probably an incitement to them as well. But paid on Hotels.com and when I got to the hotel was told that they couldn't take the payment and I would have to pay there which I did after querying. I have then been charged twice. I've contacted Hotels.com who after a week said that as they can't speak to anyone on the phone at this hotel they won't refund the money. The hotel is very basic and I think the staff are only there to book people in and for breakfast. The rooms are very basic but at the price it is a basic hotel. The resturant does serve food in the every so you have to walk to the local town. The breakfast is basic and only one choice of drink was offered with no refills. No water of fruit juices.
