"A great stay for a great price"

I can't say enough good things about my stay! Very friendly and helpful staff room was very clean and updated. The breakfast was good and fresh every morning which is something that is hard to find with most hotels anymore highly recommended!

Friendly staff. Bed is comfortable. 2nd floor is filthy. Carpet is dirty. Hallway needs vacuumed and carpet cleaned. The walls in 3 different rooms were all dirty. Not just little, random wall stains. A booger on the wall by the toilet. Dirty sock on floor from previous occupant. Little food flecks, makeup & toothpaste stains on mirror, penmark on bedding. Missing wall plate by head of bed. 2 of 3 room ceilings with water damage & all had a corner cobweb. Carpets were dirty in all 3 rooms. 2/3 rooms top sheets were crumpled. Definitely not work $370 for 3 nights. Soap scum ring forming in tub. Breakfast is decent. First floor eating area was clean & stocked.

Not going to lie, I was extremely disappointed in my stay. My husband and I travel every other weekend for my step son's hockey. We normally stay at a Hilton, but I had points saved up for Best Western so thought we'd give this location a try. I called Best Western customer service directly to book, and reserved a room with a king bed AND a sofa bed (for my 10 year old step son). When we arrived, we were put in a room without a sofa bed. After going to the front desk, I was told that they didn't have any other rooms available, but the nice gentleman brought us a roll away bed (looked and felt like it was from the 1920s). I was disappointed that we didn't get the room that we booked, but the manager, who was just down right rude, kept telling me that I indeed did get the room I reserved because it had a kitchen, and they accommodated us with a roll away bed. I could care less about the kitchen, I needed the other bed for my child to sleep on, and whether we had the roll away bed that you “had to dig way out of storage for”, not getting the room we reserved is not accommodating or meeting the needs of the guests specific requests. I spoke with that same manager the next morning about getting my points back for the inconvenience and she responded with “well our rate for last night was $170 plus tax and you didn't pay that because you used points and only had to pay $86, you could have paid the full rate”.That response alone is the reason I will never stay there again nor will I recommend it to others. I asked if I should contact customer service directly and she said “I don't know what they will do for you, you got what you booked”. I've worked in hotels before, for 8 years as an AGM, and I know she has the ability to make it right. But, based on what I witnessed when I walked in, she's probably reading this out loud laughing about this review and could care less. I may not have paid YOUR rate, but I used MY points that I had saved up from stays at your brand name corporate hotel and that response was beyond rude among other things. I can look past the giant cobwebs in the hotel room, and the holes in the foundation where the walls meet the ceiling, or the desperate need of updating needed within the hotel, but between the manager not really caring, and not getting the room I specifically reserved is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Thank god for the gentleman working at the front desk, he couldn't apologize enough for the inconvenience and is the only reason why guests leave anything more than a 1 on the survey.

The hotel room is extremely dirty. I used a white washcloth to clean, and it was black when I was done. Additionally, it smelled like stale cigarette smoke. When we reported this to the management that evening, they told us to talk to the manager in in the morning. My wife spoke to the manager, and the manager simply said “well it's illegal to smoke in a hotel in New York.” Well, it may be illegal, but it doesn't mean people weren't doing it They could not move us to another room because it was not available which of course that was understandable. But there's no reason for the hotel room to have been so dirty. I would not recommend that you stay at this best Western or any other for that matter. We have tried three best westerns and all of them have been very poor. I think we're going to stick with Hilton and Marriott.

After a long day of traveling, we checked in here. When we entered the room, it immediately smelled moldy and mildewed. I went to put our food in the fridge, and saw two dead medium sized roaches next to the fridge, that is when we requested another room. The next two rooms we were shown were even worse. This time, there were alive bugs in the rooms. The last room they showed us was still gross, but we had our child with us, so we decided to stay to get some sleep. Our appetite was lost at that point and our food was garbage, and no longer hot.

Our room was very damp and musty-smelling. Very poor lighting in the room, and the appliances and fixtures were very outdated and in need of replacement. There was garbage strewn around the exterior of the building, and a stack of old mattresses were laying against the side of the building. We won't be staying here again.

Check in and out was easy and staff are very friendly. Plenty of parking. Room was clea,n bed comfortable and bathroom clean. Breakfast had both hot and cold items. There is only a McDonald's close by. Otherwise, you need to drive a very short distance for restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was disgusting. The toilet was broken and I had to enjoy my stay with the hotel plunger. There were rocks in my bed sheets and the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. There was mold in the bathroom as well as holes in the ceiling.

Immediately upon check-in I liked the staff - all fabulous. Good, positive vibes throughout. The room was a treat with the beautiful air drifting in during a passing storm making for fabulous rest. I'm always happy when there is fruit and coffee in the morning; thank you for the abundant breakfast each day and the little seating area outside is just adorable. I can't think of a more perfect location for exploring the area.

Overall I would give this hotel a very good review. we had a very spacious room with a large wet bar area, a microwave and a full size refrigerator. The hotel is right on the Susquehanna River and we had a nice view of the river from our room. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we were able to get a good night's sleep each night. There were some small complaints that, if fixed, would make this a great hotel. First off, the day we arrived there were several men sitting outside the front door drinking beer. They were just hanging out and really were not bothering anyone but if I had been a single woman I would have felt uncomfortable walking into the hotel past this group. Second, although our room was very clean, the hallways and stairwells needed attention. The same two pieces of cellophane wrapping were in the hallway carpets all four nights we were there. The stairwells had a lot of debris and they were not cleaned the whole time we were there. The breakfast options could have been better. Breakfast was served from 7-9 the mornings we were there and we usually arrived at 8. One morning there were only two slices of bread for toast, another morning there was one bagel and when we asked for a second one we were told they were all frozen. The waffle maker did not have any instructions. The first two mornings we were here there was a very nice lady who kept everything well stocked and fresh but, unfortunately, she was not there the last two mornings of our stay and this is when the two incidents happened. These are small complaints and would not keep us from returning to this hotel whenever we are in the area but they would turn this very good hotel into a great hotel.

This is a clean, comfy spot near the highway. Staff are friendly. There's free breakfast. Nice little gym. Rooms are not extravagant, but very comfy. Great value for money! :)

Stayed here on our way to Ithaca College since all hotel prices in that area had been hiked up for college open house. The hotel was clean and rooms were decent size. Breakfast was the standard food and was refilled. Would recommend this hotel.

For a low cost motel it was better than expected. I rented a handicapped accessible room and was able to use the bathroom and shower easily. Nothing in the room was broken, and the breakfast was good. Bed was okay no major problems. Location was convenient to freeway and close to where we were going to visit.

Date of visit: Friday October 27, 2023 Room 216 Room - spacious room We were given a room with 2 queen beds. The air conditioner in the room was a window unit due to the location of the room. It didn't really work well to cool down the room which was a bit unpleasant. Pillows 3 per. Bed each said 'firm', but they were all very thin. Mattress was a bit of an issue very soft and sinky. This made for an uncomfortable sleep for me, but my partner did not suffer the same thing. However, there was a lot of outside noise (car honk man yelling) even though there is a "quiet time" policy for the hotel (10pm). Bathroom The water pressure was a bit weak in the sink. The shower is very tall, which is great for tall people. The room will need a plumber as water sprayed out around the base of the bathtub faucet. The towels were rough and scratchy, and the biggest towel was still small. Overall - a bit more attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness would be appreciated. The bathroom and the shower curtain needed washing. Ice bucket was not thoroughly or adequately cleaned. Free onsite parking & free wifi (password). Breakfast looked to be a buffet of hot items like eggs, breakfast meats, waffles, toast, beverages, cereals and oatmeal. Gym: there is a small gym with a few pieces of equipment like weights, treadmill, and bike. The gym closes at 10pm but opens at 5am.

Nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Clean room that appeared to have been remodeled recently. Fast WiFi. Many restaurants nearby. Good breakfast included. Easy access to the highway. Walls are a little thin. Could clearly hear people in the hallway and in the adjacent room. Good value. we would stay again if passing thru the area.

One of the best places I've stayed. Very conveniently located close to I86. Beautiful hotel. Check in staff was very courteous and friendly. The room was very clean and quite large - we had a king bed- quite comfortable. There was full service HOT breakfast - very good. Highly recommend.

Pleasantly surprised! Very clean and top repair, Room furnishings were tops along with a large frig, microwave and a "kitchenette" in our room. The bathroom was spotless with toiletries for our use. The front desk people very friendly and addressed all our questions and steered us to a great restuarant. Will stop by on our next trip east.

While traveling through on the way home, this hotel is a good choice - easy access off/onto I-86, away from the congestion of Binghamton, reasonable rate, etc. Rooms were quiet, the setting is right by the river w/'park-like' grounds surrounding out the back (even has benches for sitting out there), lots of parking. Bed was very comfortable. Only minor issues - bathroom counter was small - not much room for toiletries, bath towels were on the cheap side (thin), and breakfast was good, but not as great as the Hampton Inn's, a few doors away. However, BW is about $30-$50/night cheaper, so not much to complain about.

The first impression is a nice clean and welcome entrance. Charles was very helpful and suggested the best restaurant in town. The room was clean and spacious. Nice amenities. The breakfast was also very nice. The only issue were dog owners with big dogs with big barking! Not the fault of the hotel.

The Best Western I stayed at was clean and well-presented. My son goes to Cornell University, about a 30-40-minute drive from this hotel. I noticed that this hotel was much cheaper than if I stayed at one in Ithaca.

Best Western Owego is conveniently located, the staff is welcoming and the facility is well maintained. The beds were super comfortable There is a nice patio on the shore of the Susquehanna River and Owego is a gem of a town with nice shops and restaurants.

This place never disappoints. Everyone is amazing and makes me feel like family every time I stay. Barb the front desk manager is awesome, Justin who works 3-11 at the front desk always has me cracking up, and the housekeeping staff, especially Cassidy did a spectacular job! 5 stars every time

Staff was friendly and funny. They made checking in easy. They greeted us like we were old friends. When we would exit the hotel they were smiling and would speak to us. I can not say enough about the two ladies that helped us. With a hotel full of wrestlers, they handled it so well. Even started breakfast early to accommodate the boys wrestling schedule.

This place is fine for an overnight stay. Pros: Friendly staff, quiet rooms that are spacious and come with a kitchenette and fairly large mini fridge. Cons: Old bathroom and old bath towels (mine had a hole). The free breakfast was the second worst I've ever had at a hotel—hard, cold eggs, and a malfunctioning juice machine (although a staffer fixed the orange juice dispenser for me). Waffle batter had run out and was mostly water, so I gave up on it. It wouldn't have been worth the extra $$ to stay at the Hampton in, though.

After looking at some of the reviews on here, I was very hesitant about staying here. But to my surprise, it was probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at. The front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. And the housekeeping staff, amazing. My room was never left dirty. There was a wonderful smell coming from the front desk. And the breakfast was great. HIGHLY recommend you try the waffles! I will be back!!

Front desk was welcoming and friendly. Thats the only good thing I can say. Our room smelled upon entry, like wet dog or worse. The lamp next to my bed had a long dark hair on it. Both bedside tables and lamps were visably dusty. Both lamps also had water stains on them. The air conditioner didn't work upon arrival. We went to the front desk and they said there's a button on the unit. Tried that, still didn't work. Found that it wasn't plugged in. The bottom of the toilet was grayish/black. I don't think this room had been used in awhile. Would not stay there again. We mentioned the smell to the desk at check out and they apologized, and said they'd notify the maid. It needs more than a maid.

A member of our party tested positive for COVID-19. To comply with CDC guidelines, we checked out immediately and drove home to isolate. We checked out one night early. I booked my reservation through Travelocity, who agreed to the refund, if the local hotel manager agreed. However, the LOCAL HOTEL MANAGER REFUSED TO ISSUE A REFUND FOR THE ONE NIGHT.

The most positive thing about this hotel was the staff - they were great. The rooms - horrible. Bathrooms had mold/mildew all around; our sink was clogged and unable to be unclogged. Nasty black stuff bubbling out. They moved us - bathrooms still nasty with mildew.

The BW organization needs to help this property out. Mostly it was clean and well presented, but age and use are showing. The staff is doing the best they can(though they smoke too much outside on the property); and I think this hotel is better than the others in town. Perhaps the Pandemic played a part, but the sense of being left behind is pretty active.

For a trip eastward through the Finger Lakes area, we decided on an overnight in Owego because it's right off I-86 and the prices are much lower than if you proceed to Binghamton. We chose Best Western as the middle alternative between three properties at the same plaza (the others were the more upscale Hampton Inn and the more downmarket Quality Inn). A seniors' rate of $117 was attractive. Getting from the Interstate to the hotel seemed simple in principle but we were glad to have a GPS. The Best Western is a bit hidden compared to the other two. Perhaps because it was set back from the rest of the plaza, we found it quiet. At the rear of the building is a lawn that edges down to the Susquehanna River, and that affords an attractive view from the windows of the rooms on that side. (The windows aren't large, though, so you need to walk up next to the windows to see the view.) The staff were friendly, but there were signs that the property isn't administered very fastidiously. Thus, we were first given a key to a room where, as it turned out, the door was propped open because a refrigerator was in process of being serviced. So we were reassigned to another room where we found about twenty straight pins on the bathroom floor. Apparently the previous occupant had dropped them, and the room cleaners didn't notice them or didn't deal with them. Aside from that, though, the room was comfortable and clean, and the shower worked well. The room had a refrigerator which wasn't just the mini kind but fairly full-size, which we were glad of; and it worked well. (But the refrigerator that was being serviced in the first room was a mini.) The television had a limited number of channels available.

When we arrived the front desk person was very friendly and he allowed us to park our bikes under the over hang out front. We got to our room and could tell they are in the middle of upgrades. The kitchenette was very old and felt dirty. The sleeping area was freshly painted, looked nice and bed was fairly comfy. Those are the positive things.... The room was not cleaned how it should be, it was obvious the person was not happy with their job. The exit door near our room didn't shut so safety wasn't important. This is 100% smoke-free property yet they allowed smoking on the one patio outside the breakfast room. A full ashtray was there and the smoke would come into the food area. Then we get home and have 2 charges on our card, 1 has been removed the other they are "still working on" we payed with points and a week later still have a charge. We travel extensively and this is the worst BW we have stayed at.

The staff was AMAZING!!!!!!! The rest was ok. The equipment in exercise room didn't work, but thankfully there was a park nearby that we could walk to. Definitely needs updated, (but it's happening soon!!)

The location was convenient and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was kind and accommodating and the breakfast was more than substantial. I was pleasantly surprised to find Green Mountain coffee in the room - my favorite! We will definitely be back!

I live in PA... whenever I go to NY to visit my family, I stay here. The staff are so professional, warm and friendly. The room is always top notch and the breakfast is amazing. I will continue to stay here.

TLDR: This hotel is ghetto and the staff does nothing to improve the experience. The staff at the hotel are 100% the reason why a mediocre stay became a terrible experience. I've written many reviews for many hotels across this country but I have never been more exited to tell you how bad this particular hotel is. For context... we drove from NYC to Owego for a 4 PM wedding...there are a series of hotels (Quality Inn, Hampton Inn) in the same plaza and the majority of the wedding party stayed at the three. To accommodate travel, there was a 3:30 shuttle that left from the Hampton Inn that we needed to catch to get to the wedding. Given that check in at our hotel wasn't until 3 PM we knew we'd have just enough time to quickly shower, get dressed, and head out. We arrived around 2:55 PM and walked into the lobby. A woman behind the desk stared at us blankly before my partner said, "we are here to check in..." We start the check in process pretty seamlessly give the name, ID, and a credit card for what we assumed was a hold for incidentals. After about 5 mins of awkwardly standing in the lobby we are told the credit card was denied. I was confused but said nothing largely because we held our reservation using the same card so if anything, they already have the information on file. When I stated after about 5 more minutes of them fumbling with the credit card machine and whatever software they were using, I was ignored and they continued to mumble amongst themselves. At this point there are 3 women trying to figure out the issue so I offer up a reasonable alternative. Try another card. I offered up two of my credit cards and and first was told a different card wasn't necessary. Eventually they took it and got back to work at a sloth like speed to fix the issue. In the interim, I chat with my partner about our need to rush our getting ready because we have to walk to catch a bus at the Hampton Inn...I said something like "we still have to get to the other hotel"...Overhearing this, one lady chimes in and tells us there's no need to go to another hotel...rather than tell her to mind her business because she misunderstood our convo...we told her "we need to get ready for for wedding and are in a time crunch". Up until this point we've been relatively quiet as they very slowly work to solve the issue. It is now 3:10 PM. Frustrated, we again repeat our need to get checked in because we are in a time crunch. Rather than acknowledge our frustration we are told to wait as they're trying to solve the issue. At this point all 3 credit cards aren't working so it is clearly a them issue and not an us issue. The check in/check out process should be a smooth one. No more than 3 to 5 minutes. You go through the formalities, explain the amenities, thank your guests and everyone gets on with their day. Instead we were held hostage in the lobby for 20 minutes. Finally, I ask if we can just get into our room so we can get ready. We leave the credit cards at the desk and get into our room at 3:15... The minute we open the door we are both hit with an overpowering smell of cigarettes. It literally smelled like someone had just finished smoking a pack in the room and ashed out on the floor. Frustrated but needing tor rush, we skip the showers and just frantically get ready to catch our shuttle. We leave our room at 3:21 PM and head back to the lobby to discover at long last a credit card has successfully worked. They hand them back and we get on our trek across the parking lot to the Hampton Inn... Returning to the hotel around 1 AM after the wedding we immediately go to the room, confirm it still smells like a walk in ashtray and go to the lobby to ask for a room change. We explain to the new attendant that we couldn't complain earlier because we were in a rush but would like to switch rooms. Their response was to offer us Febreeze or a deeper 2 hour "machine cleaning" to ger rid of the cigarette smell. Again, we asked to switch rooms and the best they offered us was febreeze or a two hour sit in the lobby while the room was disinfected. Confused, we asked if the hotel was at capacity and if we could switch rooms and were told "they only had double occupancy rooms available". We said that is fine and were moved. We checked into our new room and got to bed...for the sake of time I will not get I to how crusty and dusty the room was but we were both so tired...we just let it go. The next day at checkout the same squad of 3 ladies who were at check in were there. As we approached the desk and let them know we were checking out we were met with blank stares and were handed a recipet for our stay. No questions about our stay, our experince...just a reciept, and cold stares. When we said goodbye we received no response in return, speaking louder just in case they couldnt hear us we said "have a great day!" And again...silence from the three. We laughed at their unprofessionalism and got on our way. All of this to say... if you somehow someday find yourself in the Best Western (formerly Holiday Inn Express) of Owego. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn across the way. We hung out with some friends after the wedding and the service was fantastic rooms clean and bright, and not a grumpy staff person in site.

We were fortunate to get a last-minute reservation when Cornell changed its graduation plans. The hotel was very adequate for our one night stay. I'm sure a lot of the issues I had with the hotel were due to Covid precautions, so I'm not sure whether it is fair to criticize. This is the first time we have stayed in a hotel since before the pandemic. The room had nothing loose in it, including local amenities information and note paper (which I happened to need!). The breakfast was very minimal because everything was individually packaged. I understand the reasoning, but the set-up was very poor since all the guests had to jam into a small corner of the lobby to get food to take back to the rooms. Hopefully things will improve rapidly when the pandemic eases.

I ended up staying at this hotel because I had driven across the US and after getting back into NY I figured that I should self quarantine for at least 2 weeks. This hotel had a fire while I was there that was pretty severe, no compensation was offered by the owner or manager. I had just finished making my coffee and I heard some strange noise out in the hall. I looked out there and I still that it was a fire alarm going off! I gathered some of my important stuff and made my way downstairs to the office, while walking to the main all there was smoke and a lot of water coming out of a room. When I went downstairs, the manager was just sitting there doing nothing. She wasn't trying to get the people out, or even go upstairs to see what the issue was. Felt that the manager endangered the people there including me. Another employee told me that housekeeping told the manager that she smelled something burning in that room. The manager did nothing about this step send her daughter upstairs to investigate cold her mother manager that she smelled something burning in the room. The manager did nothing! After the fire a couple of guys showed up in a broken-down pickup truck with a couple of shop vacs and that was their version of cleaning up! In the two days that followed no one showed up to clean up any additional mess left from the fire. The hallway and my room smells like burning wires. The hotel in general looks nice, but upon entering the hotel there is a septic smell all throughout. That doesn't surprise me because in my first room when I flush the toilet, feces came up in the shower! I was there for two and a half weeks and did not hear any housekeeping staff use a vacuum cleaner, especially in the hallway.. after I complained that the hallway was filthy I heard the girl the next day run the vacuum for less than 3 minutes. The rooms that I had did not feel clean. First room that I had I found two pair of underwear and a sock by the curtains. When I informed the front desk of this the girl just made a face. After the fire I asked the manager if there was going to be compensation because of the fire she said she was going to have the owner call me the owner never called me. No surprise...

I stayed here during the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm an English Service Engineer, who lives in Asia as I normally cover that region. Nobody from England was able to travel so I picked up the Job. My first impression was very good, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. My room was very clean, had a fridge, microwave, super fast wifi, and a very comfy bed. Owego seems like a pretty good location, but I didn't get to see it all due to the lock down restrictions. On the evenings after work I would sit on the patio at the back of the hotel with a couple of beers and such a fantastic view of the river I was next to. There are all of the local fast food places close by too. Last of all, the staff were amazing. They made my stay great during difficult times. A big shout out to the mother and daughter at reception, and the house keeping lady. I truly hope to see you all again.

Second stay at this location...easy to find with plenty of parking...check in was easy…friendly desk staff...since I reserved through a third party, could not get a room on the second floor with view of river, not the end of the world...our room was in front of the hotel, but quiet with very little noticeable outdoor noise...room and bathroom were clean...no visible maintenance issues...bed was comfy with plenty of pillows...AC, though older, ran and wasn't too noisy...breakfast was very good with good selection, everything that expected to be warm or cold was...plenty of food...housekeeping staff was friendly and respected the do not disturb while we were out of the room....also changed out only towels we used (been at other hotels that advertise 'green' but only to have all towels and bedding changed out daily)...Front desk were great and helpful...the printer in the Business Center was out of service, but was able to print from Managers PC and printer...I asked for a small trash can for some flowers, after searching, provided a vase to use instead...absolutely no complaints about the hotel or staff!!!!
