Best Western Plus Lafayette Hotel University Area

Need more help. At breakfast which was suppose to be open at 6AM by 6:20 AM had nothing much to eat. Seems they had a group of lacross players who got there at opening and ate everything. All the fruit, yogurt milk and coffee were gone. We heard 3 people asked the girl at front desk that did nothing, I was the fourth one to ask and she finally told me to go in the kitchen where a pot was ready to go? Why she didn't tell the other 3 seemed lazy on her part. Most of the people in there were filling their large cups to go of coffee not leaving anything for others. I had to go back in the kitchen to find my wife a banana to eat. No milk for the cereal, no kitchen help, and the girl at the front desk couldn't wait to get out of their, but had plenty of time to complain about those kids. As we left at 9 we finally saw the kitchen help but breakfast time was over

Room and hotel in general is run down. Mold on the curtains and spider webs in corners. Paint peeling on door. No secondary lock. General smell of cigarette smoke and mildew in my room. When running AC, room became damp. Stairway dirty. Ice machine didn't work on my floor. However, staff was friendly.

Kelly at the front desk was great! Very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and very comfortable. I did not have breakfast so I cannot comment on the food, but I was very comfortable and happy with my stay. Yes I will stay in this hotel again. Lisa G

My apartment for the start of the school year wasn't going to be ready in time for the pre-semester activities, so I stayed here for a week. Since it was near move-in week, all the hotels in the area were fully booked and extremely expensive, leaving me with no other choice. I go to check in for the first night in a king bed room, and someone's dirty towel was left on the back of the bathroom door. I requested another room, and that one had black dirt all over the floor and the tub. Finally, the woman at the front desk stayed with us to check the third room, but only for like 15 minutes. I then found stains on the bedspread. I ended up requesting new sheets so that I could make the bed myself, and wiped everything down with my own clorox wipe (which came back dirty). The woman that night apologized without really caring. She was also the only person working that night (I checked in around 6pm on a Friday evening), so there was no manager to complain to. The manager wasn't in until Sunday, and all he did was offer $50 off one singular night of my stay (during a time when the room was around $200 a night). He also promised that housekeeping would do a better job with my room for the rest of my stay. Housekeeping only made the bed every other day and didn't even clean up some crumbs I left and couldn't clean up myself (think crackers crumbs that needed to be vacuumed up). Only one ice machine worked in the building. Overall, this hotel was not clean and the staff were indifferent about it.

At first, when you walk in the place looks clean and well-maintained. Once we got to our rooms, however that was very different. The room was not the cleanest it could be. There was an old cheese cracker on the floor swept underneath the closet. There is only one ice machine on the main floor. The ice machines on the third and second floor do not work. There is no vending machines in the entire hotel. There's a little snack area where you can pay for snacks. The bathroom had a dirty washcloth on the floor. The staff was very friendly. Basically it was just a place to stay for the night.

The desk attendants gave off an impression that I was bothering them. There were lights, electric outlet that did not work. The bottom of the tub looked like it had been painted, which made it slippery. The paint was pealing making it looked dirty. We used our flip flops in the shower. The breakfast was served 30 minutes after the start time. The eggs were not cooked completely. We will not be using Best Western any time soon.

This place has been updated but is not clean. Lots of debris/hair. The linens are dingy and stained. We did not have breakfast but the hours were not conducive…appreciate it to stay open longer. Should have stayed at the suites next door. The outside area is nice but not clean. The grass was long…a fire pit would be nice. Pool was not operational…should get discount.

The location is great with several amenities around. However, we would not return due to incredibly hard beds that provided little sleep, weak water pressure in the shower, and loud guest doors that slam shut when not held to close more quietly. We requested a top-floor room to avoid "elephant feet" above us but none were held for our arrival; I was awakened at 4:30 am by guests stomping around above us.

Definitely could use a good cleaning. 🧼🪣🧽🧹 I was handed a mop after telling them my floor was sticky, right after check in. I went ahead and cleaned all the dirty surfaces for them. Mopped up the water the next morning from the leaking fridge. I didn't expect to pay what I did and have to clean my own room.

The room had lots of stains. The fire escape plan was missing info, apparently, this used to be a La Quinta? The fridge was broken. The table and chair are stained. The linen was clean. There was a big group of baseball players, and the desk enforced quiet hours mostly, but be aware that quiet hours don't start until midnight. It's a close and easy drive to Purdue University, but not the quality I usually get at Best Western. It was overpriced for the lack of quality.

The bed linen and towels were dirty. They were stained and dingy. The face towel had crumbs in it from a previous guest. It is obvious that it was not washed. The room appeared clean on the surface, but when I looked more in-depth, it was lightly cleaned. The front desk attendant kindly replaced the towels.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. All areas were clean and organized!! The kids enjoyed the pool wish it was open later!!! Everyone got something at breakfast, it was clean and always had food!! Thank everyone 😁

Hotel was clean, quiet, great price, the pool was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were modern and everything worked as they should.

Other than my hair on the 2nd queen bed that wasn't mine it was good, Nice fridge and microwave available for use, huge TV, bathroom was modern updated

I have been staying at this hotel since 2009. Always a great stay. The staff are always friendly, the hotel is always clean, and it is convenient to restaurants, stores, and gas stations.

Pros: updated hotel, easy to get to, sheets and towels were clean. Cons: room was sooo dirty. Trash on the floor, hair everywhere, toilet not cleaned, a dirty bandaid stuck to the tub, sticky splatters on counters, and 3 old takeout containers full of old food in the fridge. Switched rooms but the second room had the window wide open and was covered in bugs. Was offered a third room but was exhausted after a 10 hour drive and had no confidence in it being clean. So I cleaned the original room myself and asked for a discount was offered a lower room rate but not a significant discount. I really doubt these rooms get cleaned, steer clear and stay elsewhere!

My 3rd time staying here and my 1st time being disappointed/disgusted and I will never be back. Staff unfriendly and didn't care when I reported disgusting unclean room and broken items. There was a soda spill all over the elevator and staff dint acknowledge me when I pointed it out. Room was FILTHY (toenails and hair on floors and sticky soda all over nightstand). No apology for condition of room and second room was only slightly better. 1st room broken telephone, 2nd room no telephone and broken alarm clock. Soda spill on nightstand and hair all over bathroom floor. Yellow stains on towel. I pray my sheets were actually changed. They appeared clean. So disappointing I will never go back! If I could rate this trip a 0 I would!

Very clean quiet and safe place for me and my dogs. Very hard to find hotels that allow large dogs regardless of how well behaved they are...especially without paying arm n leg in fees.. the staff is friendly and helpful and there's plenty of places to walk my dogs around hotel and the immediate area.

Located close to much, yet surprisingly very quiet. The room was clean and comfy. Trust I have an eye for dirt. Found nothing that was ugly. I would stay there any time I got to Lafayette again! Thanks for the good night's sleep!

You are always welcomed and recognized as an important guest! They get you checked-in quickly and efficiently. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nice. The breakfast area is one of the neatest and cleanest breakfast bars I have seen at any hotel! It is well stocked with many choices for a good, healthy, wholesome, and tasty breakfast. They have many different options to fit your needs and what you wish for breakfast!

Our smoke detector started to beep while we were sleeping after getting in late. The person working was very upset that she did not know what to do. after waiting and my whole family being woken up, I removed it and brought it down to her. She had been trying to get ahold of her manager who was supposed to be working, but never showed. I let her know it is illegal to not fix it or give us a new room. She was in tears and let me know the owner would be in. I spoke with him. I also let both of them know the TV did not work (we were in town for football and so watching football was a very big deal to us). We spoke with the owner 4 times about fixing things. We got home at 11:30 pm. Nothing was fixed. I went back down and the night worker was able to resolve the smoke detector within 5 mins. no TV fixed and he told us most of the TVs were not working in the building. There was hair and dirt in the bathroom when we arrived and an overall smell to the hotel that was musty and mildewy. The room was not very clean. There was dirt on the walls (handprints), hair in the bathroom and dirt in the shower. Towels looked like they cleaned up a mess and were then rolled up and put away.

Unsatisfactory stay at this hotel. Location suited us since it wasn't far from Purdue. But room was dirty, stains on walls and bedding. Breakfast options limited, did not have much choice 30 minutes before breakfast time ended. Would not stay here again.

Just a one night stay, did arrive late in evening. Room had no TV, gentleman at desk stated he did not know why he just works evening shift. The bath room tub area had mold on the walls. Breakfast was buffet was not anything that great, pastries were not good at all.

I always stay in this hotel but this one in Lafayette was of very low quality and that is unacceptable. The room was not clean and I was there for three days. The towers had steams on them and I couldn't use them I had to purchases new towers from Meijer store.

We enjoyed our stay, other than thr Marijuana smell coming down the hallway and when you walked through the doors to the lobby. The pool was fantastic. It was nice, not cold at all. Our only complaint was even though the rooms had been remodeled, the bathroom still needed work. Ours had mold all across the ceiling.

Nice hotel with a good staff and nice amenities. Breakfast is good with a good mix of hot and cold offerings. The area around the hotel has a good assortment of chain and local food options. This is a good place to stay for a few days or if you're just passing through.

Dirty and gross! We WILL NOT be back! We didn't arrive until late and we were absolutely exhausted. First thing we noticed was public hair on the back of the toilet, floor and in the bathtub. We should have immediately ask for a different room, but we just wanted to rest. In the morning we noticed more filth. Both mirrors we slimed (one wasn't even hangin, it was just shoved in the corner), a used bar of soap laying beside the tub…. Seriously, this is just gross! We are done staying with Best Western, they need to up their standards!

Hotel is a great value and is always clean. Breakfast is always hot and fresh. Internet works well and the fitness room is always clean with nice equipment to use. When I stay in that area I always choose this best western

We were treated terribly by the night attendant, who refused to give us his name (which we later learned was Charles). Our first room had stained, cigarette burned sheets and a curtain with what looked like poop on it. The second room had tobacco spit on the sheet near the pillow and on the night stand. Charles was, NOT NICE. We went to a different hotel. I called the next day and the manager apologized and canceled the rest of our reservation.

rooms were too small for two queen beds bath had vanity outside of tub/toiled area so old fashion the Plus rating is to be debated, the rooms need to be remolded to have more room to move around in, restaurants are about one mile away, Do not get a room on front side as it is very close to interstate and heavy truck traffic all night.

Bed sheets were stained and hair was on pillowcase. Asked front desk to change sheets when we were out - they did. Woke up to noise of upstairs guest exercising or moving furniture at 5am. This is a low-end budget hotel. Don't let the "Plus" in the name fool you. Very thin walls, uncomfortable bed, and unclean.

The hallways were dirty, the room had a used contact lens on the nightstand and hairs in the bed, the pillows were useless (you need two of them to replicate one actual pillow), there was a hodgepodge of different brands of toiletries, and the highway noise was abysmal. The queen rooms are all on the highway side, and the king rooms are all on the other side. So if you have more than 2 people in your party and need two queen beds, get ready for a LOT of road noise. The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant and the location in general was decent, which is the reason for 2 stars instead of 1.

We have recently rediscovered Best Western. With BW plus and Glo, they've really upped their game. If breakfast is your thing, look no further. We absolutely love and appreciate the updates by text. And did I mention value? Great pricing, and amenities beyond what you'd expect for the price.

People should not have to pay extra during these times. Not everyone is there for a football game/season. Some people have to see family for medical purposes and have a hard time doing so due to price.

Came into town to take grandson school shopping and watch his football game. Decided to stay at Best Western for the value. Staff welcomed us as soon as we came through the door and they were helpful throughout our stay. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast available with plenty of choices for those who want more than a bagel or muffin and coffee. Hotel is located near various shopping strip malls and restaurants. Location is also idea for those traveling in to view Purdue sports.

On the first night the remote was missing in one room and the other room remote had dead batteries. Front desk said they did not have replacements. The guests in the rooms above us were very loud .Running, jumping all through the night in the room and down hallways. Housekeeping locked us out of one of our rooms and left it for us to find when we returned from the beach instead of reporting it and getting it fixed. Used towels were collected from both rooms but we're not replaced with clean ones. Front desk gave us 1/towel/1wash cloth and said it was all they had. We were told we could get some in the morning when someone came in to do laundry. Very disappointed with this Best Western. We've never had an experience like this and we've been staying with BW for years!

We stayed here for 7 nights when we dropped our daughter at Purdue. Our initial reaction was that the room could of been a little cleaner. But the price and being able to have our dog with us was more important. There was a free breakfast every morning. It got a little redundant but still a perk. We loved the pool area. It was the best amenity. This hotel was close to Purdue and a lot of shopping and restaurants. Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel.

Hotel has a good location within walking distance of other attractions … very friendly staff and hotel is always clean … work out room has a decent setup and is always clean … pool is a bit small but still relaxing

I can usually spot a poor hotel remodel - BW did a nice job here. Basically everything new, down to the bathroom cabinets and sinks, toilets, etc. Very nice breakfast experience. I saw a couple poor reviews, but my expectations were certainly exceeded.

This is a basic, no-frills hotel with a friendly staff. Conveniently located off I-65 and near Purdue University, it offers a basic breakfast, fitness room, and pool. It's only three stories high so it's easy to get up and down the stairs. The staff is great and easy to work with. Good value.

Broken Ice machines on both floors! Had to call the front desk to ask if there were any working in the hotel. The room set up was unpleasing with the vanity right by the entrance door and the very loud bathroom fan.

This place looked nice in the pics and the lobby. We went into our room and was disgusted by what we saw. Stains on the sheets, stains on the couch, hair all over the bed, counters,everywhere. Fingerprints all over everything so clearly not sanitized. There was something nasty spilled all over the fridge with mold. They didn't even try to clean this room. The final straw was next to the bed, there was a sticky substance with a bunch of hair. The manager just said “ sorry.” Didn't seem surprised or like he cared when I told him we were going somewhere else. Don't stay here.

Ugly * "Complimentary full breakfast" is an overstaement by all means. This is a no-frills hotel located near Purdue University. There are plenty of restaurants, stores, and grocery options nearby. It is conveniently located off I-65. Staff is friendly. Rooms are basic. Breakfast is not bad. Internet connection is good.

Quick summary: very comfortable bed. Housekeeping could be better. Meh breakfast. Highway noise is evident. We stayed one night while visiting friends in the area. Room 104 has two very comfy beds and pillows. There are also man of the amenities we expect at a good BW property: microwave, fridge, iron/board, coffee maker, good flat screen TV with a large screen (and yay!! They provided a printed TV channel guide -- one of my peeves lately is expecting me to scroll through a zillion channels to find what I want.) A good work desk and chair. The bathroom area had a little room for the tub/shower and toilet, with the sink area and large vanity to spread out on in a separate area. Nice toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bath gel. There also looks to be a bar/cocktail lounge that might offer happy hour prices. It may be a COVID thing, but it didn't seem in operation. The public rooms looked nice. But there are issues I usually don't expect from a BW, especially a BW Plus (we are Diamond members of the loyalty program - we know out comparison.) Check-in was a challenge when the staff was using a REALLY loud vacuum cleaner in the lounge - it was hard to hear the check-in staff, and we had to raise voices to be heard. I appreciate that the cleaning staff need to get their work done, but since I was about the only other person at the desk, couldn't she have cut it off for a few minutes while I checked in? Also: the hotel almost fronts busy I-65, as do others nearby. The architects and engineers should have planned better sound-proofing. You can really hear highway traffic all day and night. I am usually a pretty sound sleeper, and it was more a white noise distraction for me, but a light sleeper might be kept awake. I was disappointed that since the hotel was not very full, that they gave us a room facing the highway, not on the quieter side. To mention: when you come onto the property, you will first come to the rear door. It seemed more important to have the main entrance facing the highway, where you do NOT enter the property. The signage from the highway is not great - rely on Google maps or something. Then there is the room. As noted above, it was a comfortable stay in many ways (beds, etc.). However, the housekeeping could be improved. It had been a cool day, and the staff had hurriedly come in before us to turn up the heat, which had a powerful blower. This also resulted in a number of big dust bunnies neat the heating unit that had been blown out. There were a few little "unknowns" under the nightstand - little black things that might have been and insect or some other detritus. I'm also disappointed in the way some designs are going in BW. The floor is now some kind of hard composite, not a rug. It felt rather cold with bare feet or even socks on. The closet is open. After COVID times allow staff to come in to refresh rooms again, I'd hate to have all my stuff out in the open. There is only one big in drawer near the floor for your items, and an open shelf (not a drawer) for your nightstand. Everything seems out in the open. The charging plugs on the nightstand should be better spaced. It was difficult to put in some that were wider - not enough room between plugs. The bathroom could have used better installers. The tub faucet is actually set in crooked. The entire tub stopper and drain fixture can be lifted out. The sink faucet was plumbed opposite to the traditional placement of hot and cold water. I'm also starting to wonder about the fiber content of BW towels. It is identified as some kind of unidentified miracle content - perhaps a mix with bamboo or polyester. IMHO, it feels soft but clammy. Breakfast was a disappointment. Yes, there were make-yourself waffles. The hot item was a kind of breakfast sandwich of sausage, egg, and cheese product on a croissant -- the kind that are bought by the dozen in a grocery case. Some breads for toast. Cereals that included one worthy of a grownup (raisin bran) and instant oatmeal packets. Three small dried-up tangerines were in the fruit bowl. Weak coffee and non-dairy creamer (no half-and-half.) Since I like something from a cow in m coffee, I went in the back to ask for milk, as I knew there must be some somewhere for the cereals, I went in back to ask where it might be. No one was there, but to my surprise, there was a load of lovely bananas back there! Frankly, I bought out a few bunches to put on the breakfast buffet. Why someone overlooked that easy task, I don't know. So honestly, I can't recommend this stay. Some are management issues that could be corrected. Others are structural issues that would take more investment.

Rude front desk and slow to adopt up to date technology. We spent almost an hour helping a staff member understand electronic payments. This meant waiting for a subpar room that offered little to no amenities.

Very clean motel. Smartly decorated and fresh. Nothing over the top. Just done right . Room was very comfortable and amenities were all in good working order. Staff was welcoming and very pleasant. Very nice place to stop and rest. I would definitely recommend.

Stay here often and rooms are always clean … workout room and pool are always clean and available throughout the day … decent location with good places to eat and a large Meijer store just across the street

Our room for the evening was very nicely designed, clean, and supplied with everything we needed. We were off early in the morning, so did not take advantage of the breakfast that was included with the visit.

Very nice clean, friendly hotel with lots of amenities. You will have a wonderful stay and a nice breakfast to get you on your way the next day. I keep coming back regularly since this location is a great value for a nice night stay.

Several things in the room missing or broken; lamp shade was missing, rod for clothes hangers was broken, I've makers on floor 2 and 3 weren't working, etc. Also the noise from the highway was much worse than other hotels in the area.
