The owners and staff are very pleasant and the rooms are clean. It is very convenient and quiet. The prices are reasonable and the grounds kept up very nicely. Breakfast is good, not the best, but it has a decent number of choices for a quick bite. Despite that I do wish they would/could reinvest some life into the room decor. The furnishings despite being in good shape are very dated and look like they were purchased at a going out of business sale. We would definitely stay here again but I would put the new/updated furnishings on my wishlist.
This hotel was made great by the staff. The front desk girl made sure we were comfortable and the guy at breakfast was very helpful. The room was clean and nice size with comfortable bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel and love to come back
The receptionist was friendly, the room clean, and the breakfast good. The location was only 10 miles from Boothbay Harbor.
I stayed here for 3 nights and the room was very clean.Check-in was quick. The view from the hotel was pretty. I unfortunately did not try the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. There is a good amount of parking. But, I would definitely stay here again.
*** 3.75 Stars *** Spent 3 nights as part of a Maine photo trip. A bit pricey, but the rooms were exceptionally clean. Check-in is a bit odd as you walk name nobody to be found...you have to call a 404 area code number and same one comes out....;) We were in 2nd floor, it was quiet. Little road noise as it's set back. HVAC unit was slightly loud, and when put in AC had a bad smell... Breakfast was basic, as in cereal, breads, bagels, muffins, waffles (no hot items like eggs, etc). It's minutes to Wicasset, where there are two AMAZING lobster joints across from each other.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad you found your room exceptionally clean and enjoyed the quiet location. We appreciate your comments regarding the check-in process and breakfast offerings and will review them to see where improvements can be made. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on your next visit to Maine and provide an even better experience. Warm regards, Cod Cove Inn Team
We stayed overnight at the Cod Cove Inn, a charming hotel located 1.5 miles from Wiscasset. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful fall foliage and flowers landscape the entrance. The check-in and check-out process was seamless, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. The hotel features a patio, though a management notice advised against opening the sliding doors to prevent bugs from entering. The room also included a microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast, which starts at 7:30 a.m., offered a limited selection with no hot items—the eggs and biscuits were cold, though there was a pastry and waffle station. There is a nice overlook from the breakfast area with picnic tables. The location is easy to find, and the inn is pet-friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but the breakfast could be improved.
Dear Lycarica Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Cod Cove Inn. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the charming surroundings, seamless check-in and check-out, and the comfort and cleanliness of your room. We appreciate your comments regarding our breakfast offerings and will take them into consideration as we continually look for ways to improve our guests' experience. Your feedback about the sliding doors and other details is also noted, as guest comfort and safety are our top priorities. We hope to welcome you back in the future for an even more enjoyable stay.
Very nice hotel. Excellent staff. Room very clean and comfortable. Two items to note: was not allowed to use my BW points for the stay; ran out of coffee at breakfast (only one person handling breakfast and front desk - a difficult task).
Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind words about our staff and cleanliness! We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize for the coffee running low during breakfast — our team member was managing multiple areas that morning, and we appreciate your understanding. We hope to welcome you back soon! Cod Cove Inn Management
The room was filthy. My feet were black from walking on the dirty floor and had to wash them before getting into bed ended up buying a pair of flip-flops for the rest of my stay. When looking underneath the bed it appeared that had not been cleaned for weeks. There was no soap in the body soap container in the shower. A lightbulb was burnt out over the sink and there was a horrible mildew order in the bathroom.
Dear Guest, We are truly sorry to hear about the condition of your room and the discomfort you experienced during your stay. Cleanliness is a top priority, and your description falls far short of our standards. We also apologize for the issues with the soap, lighting, and odor in the bathroom. Your feedback has been shared with our housekeeping and maintenance teams so these matters can be addressed immediately. We regret that we did not meet your expectations and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
Spotless clean, comfortable beds, breakfast was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great sunset view from balcony.
Dear David, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the clean and comfortable rooms, friendly service, and especially the sunset views from the balcony. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back again!
Good and not so good stuff;but it served its purpose. The good is the accommodating staff who honored my request for a first floor room and the staff's assistance (when they were there - more later). The rooms were clean (you need to request maid service) and the grounds were well kept and spotless. they even had a nice garden on the side by the pool. We did not use the pool as it was too cold. The rooms were clean though a bit dated. There was a sleeper/couch that looked like it was left over from the 60's which was missing a backrest as evidenced by being unable to sit all the way back and we kept leaning backwards. Despite a good sleep the mattress was soft and lumpy (we prefer a firm mattress). The room had a little porch to sit outside and a nice view. The prices were reasonable considering what the costs are in the Harbor. The breakfast was bare bones and not a great selection. I suggest you buy something and bring it back to your room or eat at a local cafe in the Harbor or Wiscasset. Also, there was an odd sign asking you to only have your breakfast in the breakfast room and not take anything back to your room. Weird! The coffee was good and hot (New England brew, I believe). In the room there was adequate lighting and charging ports. The floors were clean and plenty of space for luggage (we had a king room). The TV was Direct TV and gave many channels. The shower/bath was old surround/fiberglass (with tub) and could use a sprucing up as it is yellowing. The shower was small (and we are not big people). It was evident the towel rack had fallen off or was removed as there were four screw holes over the toilet and they didn't drywall over them or paint- how hard is it to go buy a ten dollar picture or mirror and place it over the holes till it was repaired! We arrived late due to flights and stopping for dinner (we knew there would be nothing open by the time we got to the area. On the way we received a text from the Inn indicating the procedure to follow if we arrived after 8PM. Huh! It was easy to follow with keys, check in, etc but this is something new to us. There is no on-site staff after 8PM so you are on your own unless something drastic happens and you have to call their contact number. Why is this - unable to get staff or they see no need to staff-I don't know. I do know that some of the BnB's in town are like this with no late night staff but this is part of the BW Signature collection and I am surprised corporate allows this or are just lending their name to the Inn. Overall, it was adequate and very average. Most important to us is that it was clean, but don't expect it to be anything more than serviceable.
Dear Stanley, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay. We're pleased to hear you found our staff accommodating, the rooms and grounds clean, and that you enjoyed the views and outdoor space. At the same time, we're very sorry to learn that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Your feedback about the breakfast variety, furniture condition, bathroom updates, and after-hours staffing is greatly appreciated. We understand how these details can make a big difference in comfort, and we'll be sure to review them closely with our team. While we're glad we were able to provide a clean and welcoming stay, we recognize there are areas where we can improve to make the overall experience more than just serviceable. We truly value your honest input, and we hope we'll have another chance to welcome you back with a stay that exceeds your expectations.
This was our third time staying at the Cod Cove Inn, the first since it became part of the Best Western family. If you have stayed here before, be prepared it is a little different. On the positive side, the location in mid-Coast Maine is still so convenient, and surprisingly removed for being along the main road. Parking is easy, near the rooms. The staff we encountered were pleasant, it was quiet, the bed was extremely comfortable, and everything was clean (no carpet!). On the downside, things are starting to require a bit more maintenance, especially the loose towel rack in the bathroom. The biggest disappointment was the disappearance of the breakfast muffins. This may seem silly, but they were that good, and the new offerings did not tempt (we went out for pastries and coffee). Still a good option in the area, just not the same.
Dear Guest, Thank you for being a returning guest and for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the convenience of our location, the comfort of your room, and the friendliness of our staff. It's wonderful to know the cleanliness and quiet atmosphere made your stay enjoyable. We do apologize for the maintenance issue with the towel rack and especially for the disappointment regarding breakfast. We understand how much those muffins were loved, and we'll certainly share your feedback with our team as we review our offerings. We truly appreciate your continued support and hope we'll have the pleasure of welcoming you back again, with a stay that feels even better than before.
The room was very clean and comfortable, with a mini-fridge and microwave. The bed and sofa were comfortable. The bathroom had a grab bar and rubber mat. The staff were courteous and efficient. The outdoor pool is at an adequate temperature, and there is a lovely garden with a gazebo. Breakfast was fine, but hard boiled eggs were the only protein source except for sausage gravy – but there were no sausages. There were biscuits, instant oatmeal packets, apples. The strange thing about this place is that it is called a BW Signature, which is usually a cut above an average Best Western. However, the room had no telephone, and no “do not disturb” sign for the door handle. An employee told me there were none in the hotel. One would expect the above-mentioned breakfast items in a basic BW, but would expect better at a Signature. I suggest BW remove the “Signature” from the label.
Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear you found the room clean and comfortable, and that our staff and outdoor areas contributed positively to your stay. We do apologize for the limitations you experienced, including the breakfast options and the absence of certain in-room amenities like a phone or “Do Not Disturb” signs. Your observations are important to us, and we will review them with our team as we continue to improve the guest experience. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even better stay.
We have been staying at the Cod Cove for many years about twice a year. Back in the day there were delicious homemade muffins every morning; now there's dry cereal and toast and a mean note saying not to take any food or drinks out of the breakfast area (despite only disposable coffee cups and paper plates), which is ridiculous that you can't toast a bagel and bring it to your room. The pool is wonderful, but is it heated, as advertised? I really don't think so. Also there are no longer towels for the pool. Lastly, the gardens are still beautiful but I don't see that lasting long as no one is weeding them regularly. That said, the new management is very friendly, no problem with early check-in, it's one of a diminishing number of places that make up your room every day, and it's a great location. We just miss Ted and his muffins.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for being a long-time guest of Cod Cove Inn. We're thrilled that you continue to enjoy our location, gardens, pool, and the friendliness of our team. We truly understand your disappointment regarding the changes to breakfast and the missing homemade muffins—you're not alone in missing Ted's special touch! We also appreciate your feedback about the pool towels and garden maintenance; we're reviewing these items to improve the overall guest experience. Your loyalty means a lot to us, and we hope to continue welcoming you for many stays to come.
The room was quite comfortable, but the problem was the floor above us. It was a two story motel and at 3: 30 a.m. and again at 5 a.m., someone was showering on the second floor but the noise was thunderous. We couldn't stay another night without sleep, but the hotel would not provide any adjustment. We didn't expect a refund of the second night, but thought that some ac would some adjustment would have been appropriate. So great place to stay unless you want to sleep!
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad to hear you found your room comfortable and enjoyed your stay overall. We sincerely apologize for the noise from the room above during your visit. We understand how disruptive this must have been, especially during the early morning hours, and we regret that it affected your sleep. We also apologize if our response regarding your concerns about the second night fell short of your expectations. Your feedback is important to us, and we will review our policies to see how we can better address situations like this in the future. We hope you might consider staying with us again, and we would be happy to assist in finding a quieter room for your next visit.
Very convenient to everything from Wiscasset to Damariscotta and down to Boothbay and South Bristol. The hotel was super clean, with large rooms with balconies, and the staff (Amanda and Nick) were very helpful with every request. Loved the breakfast in the morning, standard fair, but fresh and plenty of it. Perfect base of operation when exploring the area. Would stay there again.
The Young Lady who checked us in was Outstanding. Loves her job and people, made it a pleasurable experience after a Long Drive. The Room was upstairs with a view. However was a Foggy Morning. The Room was very clean and comfortable. If in the area again I would return.
Never, ever, EVER consider staying here if you want to be treated with respect or honesty. Cod Cove Inn could not book the needed rooms after promising they would/could so I needed to cancel reservation. Normally not an issue with a Best Western branded hotel, however, the owners of this Inn (CC Hospitality, llc) refused to refund stating that cancellation was too close to stay date. Even after they were able to book the room so no loss of income, still would not refund. Fortunately, went through credit card to resolve issue but don't trust the staff, management or ownership of this hotel.
My family just thoroughly enjoyed a stay at the Cod Cove Inn. We visited Boothbay's Lights Aglow and this was the perfect spot for overnight. The hotel is clean and very comfortable. The rooms warmed up quickly. We were graciously welcomed and every possible accommodation for a large group with four rooms was made. Breakfast was quick and good- something for everyone. I will definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone staying in this area. Can't wait to check it out again in the summer!!
We'll be back to this Inn, but it had its pros and cons. The location is excellent, situated conveniently between Wiscasset and Boothbay/Boothbay Harbor. We were offered a choice between first- and second-floor rooms and chose the second floor for the view, which did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the room was freezing when we arrived, as the heat hadn't been turned on in advance. The bathroom's towel rack was barely secured to the wall, which wasn't a big issue but made the room feel less polished. On the positive side, the bed was incredibly comfortable—I had one of the best night's sleep I've had in a while. The continental breakfast left much to be desired. An hour after opening, the bread was picked through, fruit was scarce, and the options—hard-boiled eggs, sausage gravy, and waffles—didn't pair well. Perhaps off-season staffing played a role. We decided to have breakfast in Wiscasset instead, which was a great choice. Overall, this Inn served its purpose as a comfortable, convenient place to stay. With better room preparation, small maintenance fixes, and improvements to the breakfast experience, it could be even better.
