The doors had to be pushed hard to open, the tub was filled with water, A/C window unit very noisy and the noise from neighbors continued because of tail gating in parking lot. Continental Breakfast was terrible, cereal, milk and you could make a waffle, but that was it. Apple juice, coffee were the drink choices and taking breakfast to your room not allowed.
BEWARE!! Do not waste your money on this Roach Motel. We knew as soon as we pulled onto the property that this place was a complete DUMP and our hearts sank, because we pre-paid and realized we were stuck here for 3 long days. Then, our room was not ready when we arrived and I fully realized the mistake I had made in booking this property. The photos of the rooms were likely taken years ago, because our room - and the entire property - was most certainly NOT as pictured, representing a complete & purposeful subterfuge on the property's part. As an example, one photo shows a nice flat screen TV mounted on the wall, but not in our room; a cheap TV was just placed on the desk, leaving the wall mount and hole for cable management exposed in the wall (I suppose we were not supposed to notice that). Plus, our cable went out twice in 3 days, requiring repairs. The view of the drive-through breezeway for check-in? Non-existent; it is completely (and awkwardly) blocked off. Advertised Wi-Fi? Forget it; the Wi-Fi was unusable and we just had to use our phones, including having to tether and watch TV on a laptop while the cable was out. Housekeeping uses a FAMILY DOLLAR SHOPPING CART (you just cannot make this up). Vending machines? Good luck; they were all out of order. Again, the property photos displayed do not match the rooms nor the property, in a blatant attempt to mislead potential guests. Oh, the A/C worked; I guess that is a plus. The final straw was killing a huge cockroach meandering across the floor on our final night. I decided to address all our concerns to the Property Manager before checking out and they just made excuses for everything, including - incredibly - the roaches, stating that they had pest control, the County Health Department had come out, and that there was nothing they could do about the roach infestation. I might not believe it, had I not lived it. This place is a textbook example of someone purchasing a property, doing nothing to maintain it, allowing it to decay, tricking guests into staying there, and figuring they will just continue taking unwary guests' money until the buildings fall down and then I suppose they just move on to their next property scam. They simply do not care and figure that no one will take the time to fight back after spending their hard earned money. They got the wrong guy here. Please do not waste your money or subject your family to this Roach Motel.
Absolutely the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. Very hard working and are determined to make this property first class. The room was very comfortable and had everything weary travelers need. It is within walking distance of all the action on Broadway. Restaurants, bars, etc. We enjoyed a very nice evening at one of them. We enjoyed our stay and would stay no where else in Columbus
Was awesome stay. The staff was beyond helpful and kind. Any concerns were addressed immediately. The owner was always there and checking on all items.
A well managed family owned hotel with an exceptional front desk with could clearly rival any 5 star hotel or private club in grace and service. I enjoyed my stay!
amazing place to stay with a great selection of breakfast ... exterior property but has great security ... felt safe staying as a solo female. They also have a guest laundry which came in pretty convenient. Staff is also very friendly and responsive
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Columbus, GA. The front desk and housekeeping staff were amazing. The coffee in the breakfast room was the best coffee I've had at a budget hotel. I also felt the price was great for a hotel walking distance from some really good local restaurants, Historic Downtown and the Riverfront Walk.
Stayed here for one night. When I checked in the guy was going to make a copy of my Drivers License on a copy machine which I refused to allow. He stated it was "for my safety" and showed me others he had copied saying they do this for all guests. I refused and he relented. There is no reason a hotel should ever have to copy your ID and this can lead to potential identity theft. You don't know where those copies go after you check out. Don't allow it. The ROOM: For the most part the room was clean. I found what looked like green toothpaste on the counter next to the sink which wiped up. Otherwise no issues with the room. Large selection of TV channels to choose from. Didn't really stick around in the morning for breakfast so don't know what they had. Safety Security: This place has security cameras outside everywhere. Probably like at least a dozen. I didn't see any issues but it was colder when I stayed and people weren't out walking around outside. It was OK for the price I paid and I would stay here again as long as my ID was not copied. I am a Best Western Rewards highest level member and I stay in a lot of Sure stays and Best Westerns. They would have received a higher rating if not for the ID issue.
No complaints. Super Clean and comfortable bed and rooms Good service nice staff They take pride in the hotel and customers. Good value All positive things to say All my family are pleased. Thank you, thank you
We enjoyed our six night stay at this hotel, with hot breakfast, good internet/WIFI, room is clean and fresh, walking distance from the Columbus river walk. Parking lot is lighted all night long for safety. We would stay here again.
The rooms were very clean. Refrigerator and microwave was perfectly clean too I have no complaints of anything The bathtub in room 122 is off the chain it is awesome Jacuzzi jetted tub I will definitely come back here every time I am in this area I hope everyone enjoys their stay here as much as I did. Marie.
Check in was not very smooth. First room not complete. Second room, dirty hairs in my bed bodily fluid on the pillows even after they were move the pillows were filthy breakfast was package, donuts and communal milk, jugs, and orange juice.
We were Two blocks from the Riverfront. We only drove once and that was to the movies. We walked to Broadway for all of our meals and entertainment, note it was a July 4th trip so there was plenty to do. The staff is Great. Sweta and her husband were very attentive to our needs. They were very friendly and helpful. There is excellent parking and the parking lot is well lit. The atmosphere is quiet. We saw a lot of Military personnel.
Great visit thanks to everyone at Surestay! Could not have asked for a better stay. Will look forward to returning and would definitely stay here. The owners were the best! Very busy week-end but they were on top of everything.
This was the last hotel with any availability near a work conference and now we know why. We checked in after midnight, as we advised them we would in our booking. They had our booking incorrect, saying we had only 1 room when we had booked 2. We booked another room to ensure each have one, then they figured out we had 2 rooms to begin with. The person on staff was rude and downright hostile. The rooms were filthy. Eyeliner on the pillowcases in one room and my feet were black on the bottom after walking barefoot briefly in the bathroom. The rooms were SO LOUD - right by the highway - we asked to switch to another room and were told there was no availability. But there was because we had just booked that 3rd room we didn't need after all. We pointed this out and were told, sorry, we don't move people. We were able to find other accommodations the next day through a contact and checked out immediately. They refused any kind of refund, even though we only stayed one night of the 3 we had booked. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
Overall my stay at this hotel was very good. As a BW Diamond Select Member I was very pleased. All the staff was nice and friendly and the room was clean. Carlos that checked me in was very nice and the manger Andy was very nice, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better then most other Sure Stay hotels I've been too. Over all I was very pleased and would definitely stay here again.
I have a crew coming in next month. This place is quite, clean and I met one of the managers he was very nice. We will be working on the bridge down town- the good pancakes was right on time. And the coffee was hot and fresh. I am sure all my workers will be happy. We will have 15 doubles- thanks for showing me and my staff a great time I chose the best Hotel in the city. Huey
I will say the location was good, in good proximity to restrauants, businesses, ect. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The front desk was polite and welcoming. On the negative side there was no overhead light for the room and only a a small lamp making it a very dimly lit room. There was no coffee pot or iron in the room. No microwave. No TV. Could hear the noise outside, loud guests. I supposed it is perfectly legal to charge for a minimally stained towel, but to let it slide would have gone a long way in an good hospitality review. That said, I had forgotten my makeup remover and dried my eyes with a towel which left some residual mascara on a towel. I was surprised as I have never had a miscellaneous expense charge before when staying in a hotel, save this time. I understand if it would have been a hard set stain, but there are cleaners that bring out mascara stains without a lot of effort. Restaurants do not charge for a soiled napkin, it is included in the price of the meal and should be the same for hotels for minimal soiling of a towel.
We stayed for 4 nights and our stay was good. My housekeeper kept our room very clean daily all employees were very polite and welcoming. We got to enjoy and relaxing couple of day by the pool. Thanks for thegreat serviceprovided while in town.
This hotel so badly needs a complete renovation both in and out. The room smelt musty and smoky, even though it was a non smoking room and there were cigarette burns in the bedspread. Everything was grubby and well worn, including sheets and towels. The room had a fridge, microwave, TV, free wifi, but there was no lockbox, no tea/coffee, no hand towels or face cloths and the bath was stained. Breakfast was poor, with the hot food looking decidedly undesirable. The juice dispenser was broken. The only redeeming feature was the staff did accept my criticism when we checked out.
The room smelled so bad when we got there I had to get Febreeze, Lysol and an air freshener. The walls are so thin we could here the neighbor having sex, wonderful when you have a kid. Roaches in the bathroom. The parking lot is never cleaned. Cigarette butts everywhere. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff was friendly and they allow pets.
I booked for five nights and stayed four. The first room they put me in was in horrible disrepair and smelled of cigarettes to the point of being sick and also did not have the fridge or microwave that I payed for. The young woman at the counter was actually super nice and helpful and moved me to another room that had a fridge and microwave and smelled slightly less like an ashtray in the bottom of a trash can. However, it only had two tiny little pillows on the bed. I asked for more pillows and she looked and said she was out but ask again tomorrow. The next day, I came back from work and the room key, which already took 26 attempts of sliding it through the door lock to make it work, no longer worked at all. The asked for a new key, got one, and it barely worked as well. I asked for more pillows and the guy never once acknowledged I was asking him another question. Whatever, I was too tired to care. Day 3, I come back from work at 6:00, and low and behold, my key no longer works. I go back to the office and waited for over an hour, called the number, walked around the hotel, and never could find an employee. I ended up having to stick the key in the door jamb and pop the door open. Btw, it was very easy to pop the door if that makes you feel more secure about staying there. Day four, the first thing I do is go to the office and get a key, the dude was cool about it, gave me a key and I walk up to find my refrigerator pooped out and all of my groceries went bad. Went back to tell them, and no one was there, walk back again and find roaches running around. Day five, I left early.
