    « 4 stars in Lodi »

It's just fine for a Best Western in Lodi. The woman at the front desk was very good, the room was fine, the air conditioner was too loud and the you wouldn't take a walk in the neighborhood. But for overnight if you are going to see the Sandhill Cranes it perfect.

    « Hidden gem »

We were welcomed warmly and noticed nice touches from the get-go like the very courteous, helpful front desk clerk who learned we were birders and offered a map to local birding sites. The rooms were sparkling. You could tell that housekeeping was on top of things. The breakfast spread was well stocked and adequate for a Best Western. We'd stay here again.

« Nice clean room, helpful staff, and the price was right. »

Nice clean room, helpful staff, and the price was right. Stayed there three nights for business I have no complaints. If I was in the area And needed a room to stay I would definitely stay here. The rooms have refrigerators and microwaves and the TVs are hooked up to DirecTV so you have more than a handful of channels. You really can't go wrong .

    « Traveling South »

Pretty easy access off I 99 without freeway noise, however the trains went through all night and were awoken by their many whistle blasts at least 3 times. The room was fairly updated. Bathroom clean but could use some care. Staff very accommodating.

    « I loved the room »

The Fridge, Microwave, Blow Dryer, and other amenities added to my comfort level here. I really loved the room! It was spacious and had a large King size bed with HBO. The breakfast certainly adds value to the stay as well. Overall I really appreciated my experience at this hotel. Unfortunately there was a charge on my final bill which was emailed to me, as I took advantage of Express check-out and I am still waiting to hear back from the manager to clarify what the charge was for, as it was not clearly defined on my invoice.

« Great Place to Stay ~ great customer service »

We flew to Sacramento, then stopped In Lodi before going to Yosemite National Park. It was only about an hour south of the airport and a great location in Lodi. Jennifer, the gal at the desk, was superb in checking us in, giving us lots of information about places of interest, suggestions on places to dine & get a bottle of wine & printed out a map with directions for both. She was very helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable & quiet. We enjoyed going to Lodi & checking out the town & the Lodi Beer Co, which she had suggested. It was a unique restaurant downtown that had its own brewery & good food & service. I would recommend staying at the Best Western in Lodi & checking out downtown Lodi.

    « Nice Motel »

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms are all non-smoking with new rugs and is very clean. Perfect for a nights stay passing through. I was here with a group and everybody was pleased.

« Awesome customer service for out of towners »

Awesome customer service, front desk lady went out of her way to help me plan my anniversary destinations. The interior cosmetics are low quality but it is the only place around that has a Jacuzzi inside the room, which was perfect for a one-night anniversary getaway. And the price for a Jacuzzi room was unbeatable. This location was especially great because of the wine rooms and nice restaurants in the nearby downtown area.

    « Best Western »

The facility was quiet, clean and comfortable. I felt safe during my stay. The breakfast was abundant and well prepared, clean surfaces , clean dining area. All food preparation and food safety precautions seemed to be in place. The Room: The bed was comfortable. The room amenities were more than adequate. My only complaint or warning would be that the floor of bath tub was slippery. I would ask BW to consider putting in rubber mats. I would stay again.

    « Lodi Best Western »

Clean rooms, comfortable, breakfast was good and handy. I will stay here again, and would recommend to anyone. Staff was pleasant, just a good overall experience. Lodi was fun, a little hot but OK. We love the area..

« Thnak You Best Western »

I arrived during a very busy time( Lodi Grape festival) and the staff were Kind and thoughtful even joyful this Impressed me, very much. I had a quiet and restful sleep in a comfortable bed. It was good. I do recommend it.

« Old style comfort, classic motel »

In town for a family event, and this place fit the bill. Reminded me of road trips with my folks and brothers in the late 70s. Clean!!! Outdoor pool. Nice family place, nothing elaborate, but quiet, clean and safe. I was in the second building by the pool, and heard nothing all night. Bed was comfy, but typical hotel bed

« Tired Hotel, but friendly staff and decent rooms. »

I booked this hotel because the price was really great for a mini-suite. When I first looked in the room I was a bit disappointed, as everything looked a bit tired. But, upon further examination, I noticed that the room was freshly painted and the bathroom was very clean. I would say if price makes a difference to you and you can do without the top of the line linens, you may like this place. If not, you will be disappointed.

    « Friendly Team »

Pros: The service is great and the front desk person in the afternoon is very polite. The location is near a supermarket and shopping center. cons: The cleanliness is average. The swimming pool is average, there is no exercise room.

« Great hotel, clean and spacious - but pool was buggy »

The motel room at the Best Western Royal Host was super nice. The bathroom was clean and the shower had nozzles that squirted a forceful jet of water as well as a big rain shower fixture. The room was well appointed and clean and fresh. The only complaint was that the pool. It was literally covered in bugs - dead bugs. Maybe it's some sort of natural thing that's happening right now that is difficult than control but you think somebody would use the skimmer every so often just to get the bugs out. Actually, the skimmer was broken. I did go for a swim and just pushed the bugs away as they were on the surface so I could enjoy a little bit of the pool to myself but I did not put my head under the water as I was worried about getting some weird disease.

« Perfect stop if freeway »

We were tired and I called and they had a room. 108. For one night so we booked it was easy to find and very clean. It is perfect for a night stay. They offer a continental breakfast which had a little variety which was good. You can tell the owners of this establishment take pride in making sure you feel safe and their establishment is clean and comfortable. If driving thru again and need a place to sleep I will chose this again

« Lovely, quiet hotel, good rates, helpful staff. »

We have stayed here many times before. This time we came in late without a reservation and were happy that we were given a nice room..I always enjoy the full breakfasts. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean, ,spacious and comfortable.

    « OK - not great »

The room was fairly comfortable and clean, the wifi worked well, and the air conditioner was very loud, although it worked. Breakfast was okay but not great - it seemed like the food was all frozen and then microwaved, and the only fruit were apples and old oranges. The location was convenient and downtown Lodi had some nice restaurants and a sweet scene.

    « They reserve $100 »

Please be aware that they reserve $100 in case there is damage done to the room. I have been to hotels that reserve a specific amount for incidentals, but they also offer room service and have been of a much higher caliber.

    « Good Choice »

We looked for several places to stay in the Lodi area. This was a good choice. It was hot, the room and bed was comfortable, well furnished, clean, and the staff were very friendly. Parking lot was hot evening and morning, and the stairs to the second level were a challenge to us with our bags and wine.

    « Wine Country »

Nice hotel, AC worked, full breakfast bar that included waffle maker with 2 flavors of mix, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, etc. Centrally located. Next to a super market with fresh pastrries (Mexican and American), and diagonally across the street from a very clean food truck specializing in seafood, Mexican style. Ate there twice! I had tostados with shrimp and crab with cucumbers, avacados and slightly spicy sauce. . Yum..

    « overnight stay »

Stayed in the Lodi area for a family hospital visit .We received great service, and our room was clean overall,on a HOT day, it was great to utilize the pool area, (no hot tub, but we didn't miss it) and breakfast was a plus.

    « A Sincere Smile and Greeting... »

The title speaks for itself I'm not going to go into detail about my families unfortunate situation. In a nutshell I can say that we were displaced from our house in an untimely manner after being told there was not a room for us at the Holiday Inn Express in Lodi California even after I have reserved a room and they charge my credit card we graciously moved on to the next available Motel which happened to be the Best Western. upon upon arriving at the Best Western we were greeted by one of the most sincere caring and overall happy desk clerk by the name of Jennifer. After getting us into a room on the computer she ran the credit card only to be told that it was declined. After calling my bank it was evident that the Holiday Inn had put a hold on my credit card. I called the Holiday Inn they were rude and unhelpful. This was after I had to talk to the bank which told me that an approval code was sent to the hotel and that the hotel needed to take care of it on their end. After calling back and forth I gave up and made a call to a relative who loaned us the money. However Jennifer in the meantime I had it all set up for us to be in a comfortable room which suited our purpose because of the young infant with us. She even came to the room to greet us and meet the little one. She also said she might have some clothes that's the little one would fit. I have never experienced any situation when staying at a motel where the desk clerk was so helpful and friendly. Oh yes I have experienced the clerks who have a smile on their face and attempt to be personable yet appearing almost fake. They ask questions about how our days going or what were doing in town. Since I'm writing this on a cell phone I'm going to keep this short because it's starting to get frustrating but I'm sure any reader would get the just of it I highly recommend the Best Western in Lodi California.

    « Near Downtown Lodi »

If you need an average place to crash while visiting or traveling through Lodi, this is not a bad choice. It's easy to get on and off Hwy 99, it's about a 5 minute drive to the historic downtown, and rooms are a decent size.

    « Good Value »

Extremely Comfortable beds, great breakfast with a bit of variety. This is an older property that has seen upgrades in the room. Very helpful staff. Stayed in a 2 room suite, very good value for the room.

« Suits the needs of a quick stay »

Had an awesome wine tasting weekend in Lodi and needed an inexpensive but close hotel to sleep and this place served the purpose. Within a 5 minute drive into their "downtown" area if you are ubering it. Room was comfy, a little dated but clean. Free breakfast was average but had enough selection. Eating area was a little small though. Only real disappointing thing was the pool; very dirty and very cold. Would stay again but not make this my first choice.

    « Better than Expected »

I booked this hotel as a stopover for 1 night on vacation. The staff was helpful and courteous at all times. The hotel was centrally located. We stayed in a room with a king bed. The room looked clean and updated until we got to the bathroom. The bathroom was clean but old and the floor was stained with old paint. The bed was comfortable but it was impossible to keep the bottom sheet on the very thick mattress. I think that would have been an issue if we had stayed more than 1 night. Breakfast was very good. The hostess greeted us and was helpful and there was plenty of seating.

    « Excellant Staff - Quality Rooms »

My wife (from Alaska) was booked here for a family event. While staying she became ill and visited the local ER. Per Doctor's orders, she had to stay put for 10 days. I had to travel from Alaska to Lodi so that I could be with her while she recuperated. Took couple days to get there. The hotel staff went above and beyond to take care of her until I could arrive. Much thanks to all of the staff for their kindness and consideration shown to my wife. They even put us in a studio suite as we needed more room and were staying for extended time. Highly recommend this BW Hotel.

    « Quick Getaway »

Excellent customer service from the desk staff that went above and beyond regular customer service. Clean rooms, easy check in/check out. Maps to local restaurants and wineries offered that made our stay enjoyable.

    « Good Choice! »

Met all our expectations, hotel had updated rooms since our last stay a year ago. The pool had new tables, chairs and lounges. Best full breakfast ever in a hotel! Employees took time to answer all my questions before our arrival and when we arrived. Close to wineries, downtown eateries, centrally located.

    « Wouldn't stay there again »

I would not stay at this hotel again. Horrible neighborhood, terrible breakfast food. Sinks wouldn't drain, hot and cold temperature on tub were backwards, refrigerator froze food and water. Manager not friendly when asked why they didn't serve bacon on the breakfast menu.

    « Lipstick on a pig..... »

Looks good from the street, but hotel is old, outdated and staff is not friendly. No interaction during breakfast, no hello or good morning from hotel staff - One good positive note is that the bed was comfortable and the TV was HD quality!!!

    « Good value. Convenient. »

The sound of the train at night woke us up. The accommodations were very nice and the staff was great. Breakfast was satisfying. Location was convenient to the Delta Century Bike tour, wineries and downtown Lodi.

    « Best Western Lodi »

Great value; attentive and welcoming staff, fairly clean, good choice for a 1-3 night stay in Lodi for wine tasting. Continental breakfast was just okay, your typical Denny's quality fare. However, there is a Starbucks less than one mile away and if you are traveling with kids the breakfast options will be sufficient.

    « Nice place »

We got in at midnight. Check in was very easy. The lady at the desk was wonderful. The room was average. Not great but not bad. The price was fare for what we got. We just needed a place to crash for a few hours so we could shower and sleep for a few hours and get back on the road again

« Horrible experience here. DO NOT stay at this hotel »

First of all the hotel charged me over $300 for my room when the room and tax for the nights stay came to a little over $100. They charged my card the $102.56 for room and tax, then $100 deposit for incidentals, and an extra $100 for who knows what?! They said the deposit and the extra $100 would be refunded upon checking out.. not true! It's been over a month and still no refund to my card. I've been in touch with management and my bank and I keep getting the run around. Secondly, after I checked out of the room, I was waiting for my ride outside in the appropriate "smoking area" (I'm a smoker) with all of my luggages (I have 4 large ones) while my ride came from 2 hours away. I was only there for about 30 mins. When the rude front desk attendant and maintenance man walked up to me and said "you need to leave the property. You can't just be hanging out here." I told them that I had stayed there last night and that I was just waiting for my ride when the lady from the front desk said to me "I don't care about that you have to leave." I wasn't bothering anybody, I wasn't loud, I was simply waiting for my ride after I checked out. I said "do you always treat your guests here like this?" She replied, "you aren't a guest here.. you WERE a guest here but once u check out you are no longer welcome to be on the property." So I had to struggle with all of my bags to get them across the street to a taqueria where I had to sit and wait until my ride arrived. Unprofessional and rude and unnecessary. The staff need customer service training definitely and the rooms are over priced plus they don't refund your deposit. Don't stay here.. The motel 6 down the street is a much better choice.

    « Chris mclain »

I wanted to thank the staff for their kind and comfortable care of me while staying at their facility. The rooms were clean and provided a well thought lay out for the traveler. The grounds were also clean and very well kept as well as pleasing to the eye. Ammenities were easily found and breakfast was always just right. I had a wonderful stay, thanks again! Sincerely, Chris McLain, SC

    « Poor experience »

The motel badly needs to be was in poor shape. The bed was hard as a rock. The advertised breakfast ended up being biscuits and gravy---no eggs or sausage were put out for the breakfast serving.

    « Lack of service »

Im giving this hotel a very poor review based on their maid and manager service. I was there for 2 nights on a business trip and not once was the room cleaned. I complained but nothing could be done since it was the weekend and it was past 5pm, all the maids had gone home. Its insulting that people ask if you placed the do not disturb sign on the door when you call for such an issue. The manager lacked any empathy on Sunday Morning, the day I checked out, I complained about the room being dirty and she practically told me it was dirty because I was there in it. What I meant was that the bed was not made and no clean sheets, the garbage (tiny) were full of garbage, no clean towels, no consumables (cups, coffee, soap, lotion, shampoo). The offered a 12% discount for the trouble which was even more offensive than if she had done nothing. The manager had no empathy and should not be in customer service.

    « Bed? »

Excellent hotel in every aspect but the bed. I would stay here again but might get a foam pad before sleeping. Staff is so friendly and courteous!! Grounds are very clean and the decore is very modern.

    « Clean & quiet »

Stay was quiet and comfortable enough although back room of 2 -room suite only gets ventilation with door open. Breakfast was better than expected. All staff members are very presentable and friendly. Parking adequate with easy room access.

« best western royal host lodi »

area not all that great down town with in a mile however was ok everything in working order had the room with 2 person jet tub ( did not use) polite staff and helpful and gave directions to dowtown reasonable price

« A cut above the average motel »

Not fancy but nice, they do a very good job. It's a touch more than I'd like to spend in Lodi, but again, they do a good job and it's a couple of notches above average. Friendly professional help on the front desk, a much better than average breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage although not quite restaurant grade. On a recent stay I went to leave and found the car had a dead battery. Made the call to AAA and went up to the desk to tell them I might be a little late getting out of the room. The woman at the desk, who I think may be one of the owners, said their maintenance man had jumper cables and could just give me a jump but not to worry about being a few minutes late on check out. AAA was minutes away at that point but it was till a nice gesture. I've stayed here several times now and I don't even research it anymore, I just book it here the couple of times a year I'm in Lodi. Will I return? You bet, they do a very good job.

« More motel than hotel »

This is obviously a motel that's been turned into something hotelish. Overall, we would not book another stay at this Best Western. PROS: *Mini fridge and microwave in room *Bed was soft and comfy (but pillows were lumpy as others stated) *Furniture decor was standard fare but seemed a bit out of place *Staff was friendly and helpful overall *Not familiar with the area but seemed to be centrally located CONS: *Our sleeping experience was very poor due to the building structure and layout. Your door is facing out into the parking lot and you hear everything and I mean every person and car that goes by and we were up until 1am because of this. *One of our neighbors decided to chain smoke in the middle of the night and all the second hand smoke came directly into our room. We had to put a towel under our door to prevent it from constantly coming in. It felt like we were in a casino, it was that bad. I will say we should have called it in but we didn't. *Bathroom area (toilet, tub shower) is pretty run down and needs to be updated.

    « Just Meh »

I recently stayed at Best Western Royal Host Inn and was looking forward to the "renovated rooms". Although you can certainly see they did attempt to renovate and I am sure its better than it was before... but the place still feels old and drab. The room I stayed in smelt very musty and stale, I turned on the air conditioning (wall unit) and its very loud and vibrates the entire room! I ended up turning it off because I couldn't sleep. In the middle of the night while sleeping I heard a large crashing noise from the bathroom, it was the cover for the overhead light... it just fell off! (mind you I told the hostess at check out and she just said, OK we will fix it!). In the morning as I took a deeper inspection of the room in daylight I noticed stains all over the chair in the room, gross! They don't even clean the upholstery. The bed was comfy but the pillows were very lumpy. They have DirecTV and nice TV's which was a perk. The bathroom is very dated, and the water pressure was terrible, like seriously, terrible. Service was OK, the person who checked me in didn't seem like she wanted to be there and the person checking me out was friendly but didn't ask about my stay and didn't offer any apologies for the broken light. I wasn't very impressed for the price, if it was a little cheaper (like in the motel 6 price) I wouldn't expect so much... but I have stayed at Best Westerns before and they usually offer a better stay. Needless to say with lack of consistency with the brand I will probably not stay at a Best Western again and stick with other brands. It wasn't the worst stay but wasn't what I would call a good one either.

Good service, average decor, decent room services, average breakfast offering with tasteless pastries. Friendly personnel. However, hotel required a $100. deposit (for a REWARDS MEMBER), which has not been returned within 36 hours, for a room that was left spotless. No pets were in the room. If this policy is continued, I will no longer stay at Best Western Hotels.

    « Very pleasant staff »

This is an older facility, but very clean and decor is up-to-date. The bed was very comfortable although I would have preferred a different pillow (these were fluffy, but lumpy). Our room was very quiet and the breakfast was standard fare, but good.

« Good value, GREAT staff. »

The staff is fantastic, especially Jennifer at check-in. The hotel is older, but in good shape. Shower water temp fluctuated from scorching hot to ice cold and back many times. I alerted the staff, so hopefully they have done something since to fix it. The coffee at breakfast could be stronger/better. That said, I've stayed here before, and will definitely stay here again.

    « Reviews were misleading. »

I don't know when the reviewers were visiting this motel but it is in poor condition. The lower rooms were all taped off. The heater was noisy. The furniture was old and odd. The bathroom was very cold despite the heater. The linen was dingy. The only person available in the evening was the desk clerk who was helpful.

« Great Hotel for the price »

Always worried about a cheaper price hotel, I have stayed in quite a few the last year and some are really scary. This was as good as a 4 Star Hotel, minus the lack of employees? Overall a great value, will be coming back.

« Old Style with charm »

60's Ranch style property. Entrance drive between lobby & swimming pool. All rooms away from street and encircle parking lot. Only 2 floors with all outside entrances but seems very safe. There is even a green area in back with trees and tables. Rooms were simple motel type but clean & comfortable. Breakfast had hot & cold items with lots of choices. Large supermarket across the street with Hispanic deli and bakery. Hotel staff at check in, during stay, at check out, the NICEST in the business.

« Better than I expected -- good value for money »

I was in Lodi for the Sandhill Crane Festival, and my first choice hotel was unavailable for one night of my stay. I booked the BW Royal Host Inn as a backup, which became necessary to use. However, I was pleasantly surprised as the room was basic but spacious, clean and comfortable. The hot breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, as it included scrambled eggs and make-them-yourself waffles (the cinnamon ones were really good). The staff was attentive, refilling breakfast items as needed, and the public areas were clean and well-tended. The area was not attractive, being mostly commercial, fast food, strip malls, etc. But it was only a short drive to downtown Lodi. The only downside was periodic train whistles throughout the night. The train tracks weren't close to the property, but close enough that the noise carried. And there are apparently far more trains than one would expect! I wouldn't stay here for a multi-night or vacation stay, but for an overnight stop on a road trip it was safe, clean, comfortable -- better than simply adequate.

    « great hotel!! »

This hotel is a very nice hotel. I stay here as often as I can. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They definitely go out of their way to accommodate every guest. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is super. I will certainly be back. If you want a great hotel at a reasonable price then this is the one for you!

« Good for an overnight stop »

No real issues. Hotel was good for our purpose. Breakfast area had limited seating for size of the facility. Room was very nice and clean. Staff was helpful. Laundry facility was useful but only had one washer and dryer and it was in use by other customers. Made for a longer night.

« Rooms had not even been cleaned »

Upon checkin we discovered that our rooms hadn't been cleaned, we told front desk and they said they would send someone but never did. We were supposed to stay for 5 days and ended up checking out the very next day.

« Good bang for your buck »

Stayed at one of the jacuzzi suites with my boyfriend. The place was cozy, clean and offered a surprisingly good breakfast for a cheaper hotel. Only downside is that the air conditioner is very loud. Otherwise, good overall stay for the price. Jacuzzi and pool were great!

    « Boo. No refund »

Booked two night stay. had to cancel several days before my stay was to begin. I was told no refund or even credit on a future stay could be made. A terrible policy. Will not use Best Western anywhere again.

« Good Stay at This Hotel »

My wife and I recently stayed for two nights at this hotel while visiting wineries in the area. The room was nice sized and clean although a bit dated. Bed was fine. The staff was friendly. There was an included hot / cold breakfast (standard BW fare). Both the TV and wi-fi worked fine. We had one issue. On our last night, the card key stopped unlocking the door. The person at the front desk also tried the master key, but was unable to get it open. Fortunately, we were not going anywhere at night or else this would have been a bigger problem. All-in-all, the stay was good.

    « Clean and pleasant »

The rooms are clean and fairly roomy. The beds were neatly made. Decor is a bit outdated and the TV didn't have a good quality picture, but glad they provide free wifi. Would have liked to have a hair dryer.

« Best Western Royal Host In continues a great tradition in comfort on the road »

I was checked in by a lovely young woman named Jennifer. I received a room toward the rear of the property on the second floor. It was just great. Although the property was filled up, it was very quiet. The room appeared to have new carpet and the beds were super comfortable. The breakfast on the next morning was just what I needed to start my day. They had a waffle maker in the breakfast area which is one of my favorites while on the road. Everyone was professional and nice. I recommend this Best Western highly. I even signed up for their rewards program while I was there. The Best Western name seems to have great consistency.

« Clean, affordable hotel in wine country »

Everything about the room and breakfast was fine--comfortable mattress, clean, air-conditioned room, and the breakfast included eggs, sausage, oatmeal, a variety of cereals, orange juice, and coffee. Our main complaint dealt with the swimming pool which was very inviting in Lodi's hot weather. There was an automatic pool cleaner with approximately 10 yards of hose kept in the pool during the normal swim hours. It was impossible to actually swim without getting entangled with the hose (especially bad for children). When I inquired at the front desk, I was told by the receptionist that she was not authorized to remove the cleaner. She told me to put the hose on the deck until I finished swimming and then to put it back in afterwards. I don't think that hotel guests should have the responsibility of removing a machine with a long hose from a pool, and then return it to the pool.
