"Best Western Alpenglo Lodge"

laincynthiaj, Golden, Colorado 18/06/2022

Our visit was extremely good. The staff was exemplary. They were able to accommodate our need for an early check-in, which was greatly appreciated. The room was just right, as requested. We would certainly return to this location, as well as other Best Western hotels.

"Nice facility, very limited parking"

Eric W, Manhattan, KS 08/06/2022

Room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly, facility looks to be in good shape. Pricey, but that's to be expected in a resort town. The only real drawback was parking. We were pulling a 20' trailer and there was literally no place we could park. The main lot was closed for refurbishing, but even if it were open, it's pretty small, and the overflow lot is such that larger vehicles or trailers will be very challenging to get in and out, so if you're traveling with a trailer, very large RV, semi, etc, this may not be your best choice. Otherwise though, without a trailer, I'd sure stay here again.

"Good place for a Best Western"

MakatiJoe, Pembroke Pines, Florida 06/04/2022

Room was clean and comfortable but cleaning crew were new and did not know what a face or hand towel was. Breakfast was good. All in all a good place yo stay in Winter Park not far from the ski slopes. Also enjoyed snowmobiling and snowshoe hiking!

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Sounds like you had some fun on your trip and sorry we missed a couple items in the bathroom. Please know for a future visit that our front desk is attended 24/7 and an agent would have been happy to facilitate getting those items to you. We also stock a variety of "items easy to forget" at the front desk (razors, shave cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) so feel free to contact them on items of this type during your next stay - - - which hopefully won't be too long from now ;-)

"Great stay!"

Misty M, colorado 03/04/2022

Nice room, great staff! Nancy Price the manager was great to work with. My husband asked for a room on the first floor and she was glad to accommodate. I got home and had an email from Nancy that I had left my toiletry kit in the room, I was so upset. I called and she was so nice and she is going to ship it to my home. Excellent customer service! We will definitely stay at the Best Western Alpenglow when we are in Winter Park again.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for such an excellent review. Nancy is a great leader and sets the stage for the overall attitude we try to maintain at the property. We're glad we were able to get your toiletry kit back to you. We look forward to your next visit!

"Not so great"

canyondance6, Boulder, Colorado 01/04/2022

Wardrobe door wouldn't stay closed(no closet in room). There was water standing in the tub and sink when we arrived. Did not like that the hot tub required going outside in the cold to a different building. Could hear footsteps and doors opening/closing from other rooms, waking us up. Loud heating system, whose on and off blower woke us up.Hot breakfast had OK sausage and potatoes, poor "scrambled" eggs, bad watered down coffee and hot chocolate , and bad prepackaged pastry. The door to our room had a broken lock. Liked that there was an extra shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. Bed was comfotable. Nice guy at the front desk. A low average room quality overall. For the price, I expected more.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Please accept our collective apology for not living up to your expectations. The maintenance issues you note have been addressed. It appears you did not appreciate our breakfast offerings but would encourage the reader to see other reviews on this topic. It appears you are from Colorado, where more than half of all hot tubs are located outside, so a short walk in the cool mountain air hopefully wasn't too uncomfortable to you. We'd love for you to give us another try!

"Up high in the mountains"

User 30/03/2022

This was a nice hotel, breakfast was great. It is a little pricey for what we have paid for other hotels on our monthlong road trip but it was due to the location- a beautiful ski town in the Rocky Mountains.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for staying with us and sharing your thoughts on our property. While price is an important consideration when choosing a hotel, our focus is on providing value. We are in a popular resort area during spring break, so rates are a little higher than normal. Come see us in the middle of May or October for the lowest prices of the year ;-) Stay safe in your travels!

"Basic amenities for family ski trip"

Nicococure, Bedford, Texas 19/03/2022

The Best Western Alpenglow was family and budget friendly for our spring break ski trip. It's a short drive from Winter Park resort, a one block walk to Hideaway Park sledding hill, and a block or two to nearby restaurants. At our check-in, the clerk made a mistake with our card, and after several minutes of trying to get us to use a different card, needed help from another clerk to fix his mistake. Other than this, the front desk staff during our stay was responsive and nice. We didn't use room cleaning by housekeeping, but they provided fresh towels and soap when we needed them. The lobby and rooms are adequate for a budget lodge, but not luxurious or deluxe as described online. There was a ceiling leak in the lobby with a bucket for a few days. Beds and pillows were clean. Unfortunately, the mattresses were not supportive and the rooms were small. The microwave and mini fridge worked fine. Breakfast was included and convenient, and it was nice to be able to enjoy a hot cup of tea or cocoa in the evenings. Overall, this hotel was suitable for our needs. With rooms going at a premium on spring break, we were glad to have found a place to stay.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased the hotel met your needs, but our goal is to exceed guest expectations. While the word "deluxe" is indeed used to describe different room types, we do not use the word "luxurious" in any of our marketing or promotional material. I apologize for any misunderstanding there. The leak in the ceiling was an unfortunate incident which has now been addressed. Please come see us again soon!

"5 Star Best Western"

ILoveBourbon, Frankfort, Kentucky 18/03/2022

I base my stars on the price paid, location, etc. I felt we had a terrific hotel for the price we paid, and had an all around great experience. While housekeeping didn't even entertain that idea of checking us in to a room a couple hours early, the manager did. I understand, but if a room is ready............. anyway, I cannot remember the manager's name, but she was SO sweet and accommodating. I am going to touch on something that I did not find information on before our trip, and that is the included breakfast. It really was a GREAT breakfast for no additional cost. First of all, terrific hot chocolate, coffee and tea available all day. In the morning, they always had waffle station, bread & pastries, yogurts, granola bars, and fruits & juices. Then, they had additional items such as eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy. So, plenty to eat. We enjoyed the access to the ski resort, just walked across the street to the station to catch a bus. Walking distance to multiple restaurants. Clean room with fridge and microwave. We would stay here again for sure!

"Best at the best western"

nicoleornelas9384, Strasburg, Colorado 07/03/2022

I would definitely be staying here again. Hot tub is nice and staff is very helpful. Only bad thing is no kids pool. So if you have little kids like me that want to swim you'll have to find somewhere to swim. But over all great hote comfortable beds. EVEN HAVE ROLL AWAY BEDS!

"Affordable rooms near Winter Park"

JT202269, Centennial, Colorado 07/02/2022

This Best Western is close to Winter Park & has a bus stop across the street. Are checkin was delayed by 30mins however the front desk clerk took the extra step to call us & let us know when it was ready. The bed was not comfortable but room was clean. We were disappointed with the hot tub temperature setting. I never thought I would complain about a hot tub being to hot. We like ours to be anywhere from 101-103. This hot tub was set so high you could not stay in for more than a few mins at a time. Not sure if it was intentional to keep guests from staying too long. If so it worked. Management might want to rethink their strategy as it was dangerous high.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. We work hard to make sure all have a pleasant stay, but sometimes that doesn't work out as planned. Surprised by your comment on the mattress, as we just finished replacing all of them last month. Your heads up on the hot tub is well received - - - it is not our intent to "spoil" anyone's soak. We shall address that immediately. Not an excuse, but more in the way of an explanation, our maintenance folks might have tweaked the temperature up a little to combat a recent "very cold" spell. It should be just right on your next visit!

"Best Western Alpenglow"

timlloyd1969, Schererville, Indiana 17/01/2022

Excellent. Great location to town attractions. Breakfast got me off on the right track before going skiing. The room was huge and the bathroom had more amenities than I was expecting. The staff was very courteous, efficient, and happy.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
What a kind review - thanks! Our "hot" continental breakfast is a favorite of our guests, as it includes eggs, a meat item, potatoes and self made waffles. Plenty of other choices too (fruit, breads, cereal) plus gluten free options. If we can make our guests say "Wow", then we've accomplished our objective. Come see us again soon!

"Wonderful Staff and Breakfast"

Vinsonsmom, Austin, Texas 26/12/2021

I can't say how grateful we are that we stayed at BW Alpenglo when we went to Winterpark. They had the best cocoa in town and the friendliest staff. We will definitely return to this hotel next year. The hot tub was always hot. The front desk and room cleaners were always going the extra mile to keep all of the guests happy. They also had good food and entertainment recommendations as well.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay! Our staff works incredibly hard to make your visit a pleasant one, so your comments are very much appreciated. The hot cocoa machine is on 24/7 - - - glad you were able to try some. We look forward to your next visit.

"Comfortable, fair price, good breakfast!"

User 08/11/2021

This is a great hotel for the budget minded! Central location, within short walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and a great park! The breakfast was fresh, and if you don't get full it's by your own choice. The remodeled decor is very nice! Bed was a tad bit soft for me, but that's me. First time I've actually loved a hotel shampoo. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you Sarah -- we appreciate you touching on many key items that can make our guest's stay memorable! When will you come see us again?

"Perfect place to end your day"

User 06/10/2021

This best Western was awesome! Clean rooms, soft beds and the pillows...perfectly soft but firm at the same time. The cleanliness was on point. The complimentary hot breakfast was a perfect start to the day! Waffles, Eggs. Bacon, sausage, GREEN CHILI and burrito fixing! Next time we are in town this will for sure be our place to stay!

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for such a nice review and we very much look forward to your return!

"Bathroom sink and tub do not drain"

hurldavid, Lakewood, Colorado 27/09/2021

Terrbile plumbing in bathroom. They dont drain. Was told biscuits and gravy for breakfast but that didnt happen. The staff are friendly when they are at the desk. Seems like they stay in the back a lot more than helping guests.

"A surprise in the mountains"

Bill B, Bluffton, South Carolina 19/09/2021

Though not a big fan of BW, this stay was worth the trip. The front desk was friendly and informative of the town. Rooms were clean with every thing in working order, loved being able to open the window and enjoy the mountain air. Glad we picked this location.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you! Hopefully we improved your impression of Best Western overall - - - if even a tiny bit. We look forward to your next visit.

"I chose to stay here"

OnAir202912, Portland, Oregon 09/09/2021

I was told "we'd work out the AAA discount when you arrive" I really don't know if this happened as it's not on my bill and I guess it's my fault that I didn't want to hang out in a lobby with roaming unmasked guests and employees and debate the issue. I didn't see any covid safety precautions other than a tiny piece of plexi at the front counter.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. As to not getting your AAA rate, please call the hotel directly and we will correct/refund the appropriate amount. As to the Covid comments, Grand County follows the guidance of The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), who "encourages people who are not fully vaccinated to wear masks in all other public indoor spaces." So, there is no law or mandate that people must wear masks, which is why you saw unmasked people in our lobby. My wish is we can get past all the Covid issues sooner than later and that life can return to normal (if there ever is/was a normal), especially as it relates to travel.

"Awesome people, Great hotel!!!!"

User 07/09/2021

This Best Western Hotel was one of our best stays ever in any hotel we have stayed. We broke down going over the pass. The General manager Nancy went above and beyond to get us a room and to make our stay very pleasant and helped us to get the part to fix our pickup. A super awesome and friendly lady. The staff was super nice, rooms very nice and clean and a pretty good continental breakfast! We would recommend this hotel to anyone and if we get back up that way would for sure stay there again!

"Thank You!"

tknopf, Weston, Wisconsin 10/08/2021

Nancy, the manager of the hotel, provided a group of 18 of us with 7 rooms at the last minute. We had been displaced from our Airbnb at 380 Moose Trail, a home provided by The unclean environment at the Airbnb, was a great disappointment, but the way were treated by Nancy the manager at this hotel was fantastic. She even offered us a late checkout the next day and was professional and efficient in getting all 18 of us in our rooms. Lesson learned here is sometimes smaller motels offer more than expensive Airbnb homes run by dishonest and unprofessional hosts. Thanks Best Western!!

Nancy Price, General Manager at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Bless you heart, thank you Mr. Knopf, for this wonderful review! I was so happy I could accommodate your group at the last minute and hope that the Airbnb you went to the next day was more to your liking and standards. It can be scary when the lodging facilities you reserved are substandard especially when you pay higher prices for the unit. With Best Western you know you will always receive clean, sanitized accommodations, up to the CDC standards for cleaning now, after COVID. And, at Alpenglo Lodge we treat everyone like family with professional services, and helpful, happy associates to see to all of your needs. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We enjoyed having you and your group stay with us and hope you will consider us for any future trips. From the time we checked in on late arrival to the time we checked out (2 night stay) we were nothing more than pleased all around. The Staff was kind and courteous and the breakfast was great! Nothing like a hot meal to start out the day, which was also wonderful because we got to explore the Winter Park Resort with a Day Pass to ride the Alpine Sleds and the Gondola. We give Alpenglo Lodge at Winter Park, CO TWO Thumbs Up and would recommend this BW to anyone!

We had a wonderful stay in Winter Park at this Best Western. The hotel in conveniently located on the main street so everything is walkable, yet quiet in the evenings. The staff was over the top friendly & went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Our beds were comfortable & the shower head was wonderful! Our rooms were very clean & newly remodeled. Clean and nice. Room was small, old style motel room, but it was spotless and everything worked. beds were very comfortable. Checkin was pleasant, breakfast was the usual fare. All clean. Sat at outside tables both mornings. Coffee was very good. The sandwich shop next door is spectacular and we had one nice dinner at the distillery right outside our window.

Our first day in Colorado was met with one trouble after another; however, after being greeted by Kawanis at the Best Western and being treated to his first rate customer service, hospitality, courteous and efficient efforts we are sure he is personally responsible for the rainbow we just spotted after today's rain. "broken ice bucket"

EmB00, Boswell, Oklahoma 01/05/2021

we stayed one night at this best western. we went and got ice last night and woke up this morning to everything on the desk sopping wet including a very expensive wallet, hat, and apple watch. luckily the hat and watch did not get ruined but the wallet i'm not so sure about yet. To anyone that stays here or anywhere be sure to check your ice buckets for cracks, wouldn't want anyone else's belongings to get ruined.

Nancy Price, General Manager at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience of the cracked ice bucket. We provide plastic ice bags in every ice bucket in every room for sanitary issues as well as any leaking occurrences. I can understand your frustration and hope your wallet was able to be utilized after it dried out. We pride ourselves in giving the best possible guest experience, and I'm sorry we fell short in this instance. Nancy N Price General Manager Best Western Alpenglo Lodge

"Clean and Reasonably Priced"

ColoradoPeep, Boulder, Colorado 30/03/2021

I stayed here for one night before snowmobiling in Fraser the next day. It's a decent basic motel-hotel that's good for a short 1-3 night stay, but not sure if I'd want to stay longer than that because we got really poor sleep. There was a loud noise outside that started around 3am and lasted until around 7am (it might have been snow making machines at the resort, or some other machine or big truck closer by). The walls are also really thin and the noisy housekeeping woke us up bright and early with all their yelling and banging stuff around in the hallways (I think our room was right next to their closet). There aren't many options for “recognizable” lodging in the area (no Hilton or Marriott branded hotels), and this seemed to be one of the nicer options from the appearance of the other places I saw. There's a Winter Park Mountain Lodge right across from the ski area if you're going there to ski (the reviews aren't great but from the outside looked fine), and there's a Holiday Inn Express in Fraser that was closer to the snowmobiling and tubing area that looked nice. The Best Western was located in between the two and had good reviews and was reasonably priced (especially for a ski town) so we stayed here. Our room was very clean and well kept. The furniture was clean, the bedsheets were clean, the counter spaces were clean and the bathroom was clean. The bathroom was small, no counterspace, small tub/shower (we didn't use it so can't speak to water pressure) but it had great lighting (real lightbulbs instead of those cheap yellow lights most hotels use). They also provided plenty of towels and washrags. The room itself had plenty of extra counter and table space to use for eating, working and storing stuff (there's an extra table on wheels underneath the counter in the main area). TV was a good size and got many cable channels. There's a microwave and mini fridge in the room. However the fridge is located inside the cabinet closet, so you can't actually hang any clothes in there. There is 24-hour tea and hot chocolate available in the lobby, plus free breakfast from 6:30am-9:30am (we didn't get to try it because we slept in due to the poor sleep we got). There's a really good BBQ place right across the street that I would highly recommend if you like BBQ. The heater in the room works great, though it was actually too hot to keep it on. We kept it off all night because we kept overheating, but had to turn it back on in the morning. It blows cold air for the first few minutes, but it goes back to full heat after that. It would be nice if there was an in-between temperature. Nancy at the front desk was exceptionally nice and has some of the best customer service skills I've ever encountered at a hotel. She was friendly, informative, respectful and made sure to acknowledge the people waiting in line because she was the only person there to help everyone. However, she did tell me that I was getting a $25 gift card for a future stay that I never received, though that's probably not her fault. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness and reasonable price. Winter Park/Fraser doesn't have some of the bigger, nicer hotels that you'll find in larger ski towns or in other touristy areas. The Best Western is considered more of a motel than a hotel, but for what it is, it's very well kept. Assuming our noise issues were not a regular occurrence, I would recommend the hotel if you're in the area.

David T, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for such an exhaustive review ;-) You could be a travel writer! The outside noise you mention is our neighbor (a strip mall) who choose to have their lot plowed in the middle of the night as our guests are trying to get some sleep. I have addressed this with them numerous times, but your review tells me I must do it again. We appreciate you staying with us and hope this issue is resolved once and for all on your return.

"Thoughtful Amenities"

Richard C, West Bloomfield, United States 23/03/2021

Wonderful mountain views. Microwave, a frig that worked and nicely sized, excellent coffee in room and in lobby, hot chocolate that was great, incredible tea selection, best Covid era hot breakfast. Hot hot tub. My impression is that this BW has very thoughtful management who go out of their way to provide a positive lodging experience. Thank you Richard for such a great review. It truly is rewarding to know that the tremendous effort our entire staff puts forth is recognized. Seems folks are way too quick with negative comments these days -- your acknowledgement of a job well done is greatly appreciated. We absolutely look forward to having you back some time soon!

"Exceeded expectations"

tlbtalk68, Westwood, Massachusetts 22/03/2021

We were pleasantly surprised by the little gem of a hotel in Winter Park. The staff was exceptional, the location perfect and the grab n go and hot meal option was terrific. The only thing that would have made it better for my son would be a gym but he got a good workout on the mountain. I would definitely stay here again.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Love exceeding expectations! Always good to hear. While it is true we have no gym, we've also found folks mostly come to see us to play outdoors. Glad your son found the popular way to exercise around here. We look forward to welcoming you on your next trip!

"Highly recommend this hotel!!!"

User 13/03/2021

One of the only hotels during COVID that's that offered a hot breakfast that was cooked by a hotel employee. The room was perfect, great location and amazing customer service!! I would highly recommend this hotel

"Good, clean no frills accomodations"

gbrown400, Fort Worth, Texas 04/03/2021

The place was clean, friendly with no problems or issues......except that the coffee in the room was not replenished daily. Overall it was easy and comfortable. We ignored the marijuana smell wafting down the hall and in the is Colorado.........

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It is unfortunate about the coffee, but since we're not entering the rooms due to Covid during a guest's stay, we have no way to monitor the inventory. Wish you would have stopped by the front desk for some refills, as we would have gladly done so, along with honoring any other request that would have made your stay more enjoyable. Looking forward to your next trip to Winter Park!

"Best Hotel in WInter Park"

Great place to call home when visiting Winter Park, they have every thing (WiFi, Hot-tub, free hot breakfast, 24 hr coffee, tea & hot cocoa, close to stores, nice rooms and more!). Carol the Operations Manager does a great job and gives excellent guest service every time, thank you for a great stay Best Western Alpenglo Lodge team.

"Comfy and affordable"

seventwosix, Los Angeles, California 15/02/2021

This was the second time I stayed here. I actually like this property. It's pretty well situated near many great restaurants. And it's fairly affordable. My first time here the breakfast was garbage. Microwave burritos and sugar (Waffles, breakfast bars, muffins, danish muffins). But they improved it by adding eggs and bacon. I was impressed. They must have read my customer survey. There's a Lift line station right in front that you can take directly to the ski area. And i never really battled for parking... I will however dock BW one star for their beds. They are kinda stiff. Ans the pillows were tiny. I woke up with crazy back pains... I had to stretch like crazy to feel normal. But overall: the property is clean; the staff extremely courteous; and the rooms were cozy. I definitely recommend

"Great stay!"

User 13/02/2021

The general, manager, Nancy Pruce was very cheerful and helpful. The staff was as well. I came up for a business meeting and I will definitely sat there again when I come back. I brought my dog and the staff was very friendly to her as well. ,

Mark J, Denver, Colorado 01/02/2021

not planning on staying in WP for the night but ended up having a few beverages with friends and figured to play it safe and stay over. great location with a surprisingly low rate for such short notice. check in was easy. i wish i remembered the lady's name that checked us in, she was really nice. room was clean, bed was really comfortable. hot tub was open. all good.

User 19/01/2021

Terrible customer service, we were told at the hotel that we would be able to receive a refund on our last night since we needed to leave early due to bad weather coming into Wyoming, which is where we were heading to. They said no problem just reach out to the booking agency and it would be taken care of. The booking agency reached out to the hotel and Best Western stated there was no "bad weather" in Winter Park therefore they would not approve the refund. We told them NUMEROUS times, we are aware of the weather in Winter Park (we were literally at their hotel) and we specifically told them we were worried about the snow in Wyoming. After reaching out to the Best Western customer service team they relayed the same information and the new management responded with a weather report for WINTER PARK. Not sure if its the new management or if both parties are illiterate and inconsiderate because as I mentioned before, we were not concerned with Winter Park's weather. Regardless of their inability to use common sense when problem solving, they should not have told us that we would be able to receive a refund if they planned on denying any request from the booking agency. Would not recommend staying here as it will be a complete nightmare if you have to deal with this "customer service team". Parking is also pretty limited at the hotel, room was way smaller than depicted and its a bit rundown there are other great options down the road that I wish we would have chosen! Also there were multiple people in the common area without a mask during our stay.

"Exceptional staff - great place to stay!"

michelewalden9, Lees Summit, Missouri 05/01/2021

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge while staying in Winter Park CO for a family ski trip. The staff was exceptional - always helpful and willing to go above and beyond! They took extra precautions to keep everyone safe and provided a great grab and go breakfast option.

"Deep cleaning fee for no cleaning"

Huy D, Sugar Land, Texas 01/01/2021

The hotel is dated but the location is great for skiing Winter Park and there were many restaurants around. Staffs are nice and helpful. Parking sometimes can be tough but it's doable. We stayed at the hotel over the Christmas holiday. We brought our dog with us. Due to Covid-19, there was NO house cleaning and after we checked out, we were charged extra $75 for deep cleaning fees on top of the pet fee of course! This is a major disappointment. During this same trip, we stayed at 2 other Best Western and another 5-star hotel. We never had any problems with this cleaning fee or complaints! They called us about the fee while we were on the road.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to write a review and giving us the opportunity "again" to educate guests about our pet friendly policy. We are indeed pet friendly, but have only a limited amount of rooms dedicated for this purpose. When a guest arrives without booking a pet friendly room, we accommodate the stay by placing them in a non-pet friendly room, which then has to receive a full deep clean upon departure. This is done because many people are allergic to pets, the main reason we keep only certain rooms for pets. The $75 charge is inclusive of the $15/night pet fee, so depending upon the length of stay, the overall charge might be similar to booking a pet friendly room. All of these policies are clearly spelled out on our website and our page on the Best Western site. Sadly, third parties (Expedia,, etc.), don't devote the space necessary to clearly communicate these policies. All the more reason to call the hotel directly when traveling with a pet.

"What bug is this?"

Brian M, Denver, North Carolina 16/12/2020

We spent three nights at the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge in Winter Park Colorado the first week of December, 2020. It is an older property and was all in all a reasonable visit. In this age of COVID, they had grab and go breakfasts and coffee. The location is in the center of Winter Park. The rooms were well appointed. However, in the middle of the night on the first night, a bug crawled across my arm. Being asleep, I instinctively flicked it away. A few minutes later, it was back on my neck. This time I grabbed it and crushed it between my thumb and finger. I wiped it off on the side of the bottom sheet. A photo is attached to this review. Was it a bed bug? Beats me, but I will not return to this property. Except for the bug it was a reasonable stay, but bugs are a big deal to me. This is the first in several thousand hotel nights.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Hello Brian- It is very unfortunate you had this experience and please accept our collective apologies for its occurrence. We work very hard to provide a clean comfortable room for our guests, as is acknowledged in other reviews. Our location is absolutely in an alpine environment, with all types of "critters" around, large and small. Rest assured this is a rare incident. It would have been very helpful if you had brought the incident to our staff's attention so that we could appropriately address the situation. Again, sorry for this inconvenience.

"Great stay"

User 30/11/2020

Front desk staff was very friendly. Coffee, tea always available for 24 hours by the front desk. Rooms are very clean and were comfortable. Breakfast was in individual packets due to Covid 19. Breakfast burritos, granola bars, bottled water, fruit, and muffins were available.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for such a nice review. Hope to see you again soon!

Tim H, Aurora, Colorado 13/09/2020

This stay was very good. The check-in was efficient and friendly. The room was standard but filled with too much furniture so it made the room small for two people. There was no place to set our luggage on the luggage stand. The chair and footstool could have been smaller to give the room more space. The curved desk looked good but was not the best use of space. The "grab and go" menu was limited. The lodge is in a central location in Winter Park so we were able to walk around the town.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry your room was a bit "tight". Our brand requires certain items be in the room, which sometimes makes space management a challenge. We look forward to your next visit!

"Great stay!"

blessedsights2c, Ridgeway, Wisconsin 12/08/2020

Front desk staff was very friendly. Coffee, hot chocolate, and juice were always available by the front desk. Rooms were not cleaned daily due to Covid 19, but anything we needed more of (towels, soap) could be picked up at the front desk. They even gave me a face mask when I forgot my own. Rooms appeared very clean and were comfortable. Breakfast was limited due to Covid 19. In addition to the drinks by the front desk, breakfast burritos, granola bars, bottled water, fruit, and muffins were available.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
What a great review -- thanks! We are trying hard during this unique time and it's always nice to see when those efforts make an impact.

"Last Minute Stay"

User 09/08/2020

Hotel was not full on a usual very busy time of year. Walked into lobby and got a room. Required mask, cleaning procedures are in place. Felt comfortable staying here. The bed is very comfortable, the room was very clean. There are pups allowed and saw quite a few but did not hear any barking. Will come back for sure.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We're so happy you decided to stay with us! We have been working hard to keep things clean due to the current situation and are pleased you felt comfortable staying with us. We do love our furry friends, but only in designated rooms to avoid allergy issues with other guests. Come see us again ;-)

"Clean but crowded"

OpinionatedTraveler, Ventura, CA 23/07/2020

The hotel is right off the main drag through town and very clean. We rented the accessible suite that has two murphy beds. Be advised that murphy beds are lower to the ground than regular beds, and the mattresses are softer as well. When you have both murphy beds plus the sleeper sofa open like we did, it does not leave much room to move around. The dining table is nice but with everything open for sleeping it is very crowded. The room itself is very clean and nicely appointed. I bet this location kicks butt in the winter :) COVID TIP: Breakfast was meh....they provided a small bottle of water, a fruit cup, an apple or banana, and a granola bar. The granola bar got crushed by the fruit, which just left a lot of fruit. I appreciate the effort but I suggest using that as a snack later in the day and go somewhere else for a good take out breakfast.

, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for the nice review. The room you mention can get a bit crowded with all the "beds" in place, but ideally that's only during the night time - - - otherwise they can "disappear". We have been able to expand our breakfast somewhat, as we're now offering breakfast burritos. Hopefully the state will let us return to our full buffet breakfast soon.

Teresa G, Fort Worth, Texas 12/07/2020

The room was ready an hour later than 3pm. The shower was Luke warm and never got any warmer. The sheets were almost worn out and had little fuse balls all over them. The sack breakfast was okay. We understand that a buffet could not be offered right now. We stay in hotels while traveling 30- 40 nights per year. I would not stay here again.

"Clean and healthy"

User 10/07/2020

We took a last minute road trip and called for availablity after we arrived in Winter Park. Found the hotel very clean and staff consistant in their care and cleaning for our health and safety. I will definately go back to visit another time.

"Trip to Yellowstone."

User 21/06/2020

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Restrictions due to COVID were very clearly established and explained. When I called back that evening of to check about an item that I thought I had left behind, the desk clerk graciously checked the not yet cleaned room to search for the item. He was apolgetic when he could not locate it. The location was convenient to restaurants and shopping.

"convenient location, unclean hotel"

User 16/03/2020

The hotel was conveniently located to Winter Park. The price of the room would be fine, especially because it's location, if the rooms were what was advertised. The hotel claims the rooms are all updated, clean and have excellent amenities. The rooms are not updated, the carpet is torn and filthy and lights are burned out in the room. Also, they provide breakfast but not enough eggs for all. As far as the hot tub, it was set so high that a person couldn't stand to be in it as it immediately made your flesh bright red. I would definitely find a nice place to stay for the money.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Ouch - - - this review hurts as I don't feel it properly represents the hotel or our entire operation. The rooms have indeed been updated within the last two years (furniture, lighting, art, mattresses, etc.) - - - but as has been stated previously - - - not to the "any airport hotel USA" standard, as we work to maintain our alpine environment. The observation that the rooms aren't clean is also not accurate - - I'd encourage the reader to look at some other reviews to get a different perspective. Thank you for pointing out the issues with breakfast and the carpets, which shall be addressed. To be clear, we have plenty of eggs for all, but you might have caught us at a time when they were out, but a refill was certainly close behind. Your comment on the hot tub is noted and has already been addressed. While we might have not met your expectations this time, I'd encourage you to give us another try.

"Ski Trip"

FriedGreen, Galena, Illinois 05/03/2020

Service was very attentive. Breakfast was perfect before a day on the slopes. Bus stops right out front for easy transport to and from the resort. Stayed with my family and we all enjoyed our stay. I would recommend.

Thank you! From management, housekeeping and our front desk, we all work hard to please our guests. It's always nice to know when we've succeeded.

"Great location and very clean"

Angie C, Dayton, Ohio 16/02/2020

We stayed for 2 nights while we skied Winter Park. Free Shuttle is just across the street and takes you up to the Mountain. Breakfast was make your own waffles, breads, yogurt/granola and they had Colorado Green Chili when we were there. Hot Tub was clean but too hot to hang out for a long soak. Would recommend The Pub down the street for happy hour. Overall it was very convenient, simple, clean and budget friendly.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you very much for the nice review. We're especially pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast! Finding the best hot tub temperature is always a challenge, since some like it hotter - - - others prefer is cooler, but that doesn't stop us from trying to find the temp that's "just right". We look forward to your next visit.

"The 3 queen room really isnt"

drgpoppy, Brighton, Colorado 10/02/2020

My 2 sons and I stayed at the BW in Winter Park to go to ski at Winter Park/Mary Jane. We were looking for 3 beds. We called the motel and they said they had a room with 3 queen beds. I thought it would be a good deal. The room actually has 2 queen murphy beds that pull down from the wall and a fold out couch. I guess technically it was 3 queens? Not very comfortable beds. On the other hand Keith at the front desk gave us the low down on where to snowboard. The breakfast was decent. Overall ok. I probably would not stay with the murphy beds.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for your review and our apologies if the explanation of the room from the front desk did not properly describe our "Vasquez Suite". The online description for this room provides the additional details that were evidently missed. There are indeed three queen size beds, two that are Murphy beds (mattresses just replaced in December '19) and the one pull-out couch. The other part that makes this room unique is a regular size table with chairs, a 42" HD TV (larger than other rooms) and a small food prep counter with microwave and refrigerator. Sorry it didn't work for your group, but it has proven to be very popular with families that request it time and again.

"Winter Park Convenient!!"

dragonfly48now, Manhattan Beach, California 21/01/2020

Stayed in downtown Winter Park while looking at condos/houses to buy for possible future snow trips and income property. Very close to free transportation everywhere around town & the resort. Good value, friendly staff and awesome breakfast. Only things that needs to be improved are two fold. The towels need to be softer. I suggest buying new ones as these are close to sandpaper. Secondly, the room heaters were loud but effective. It's a cold climate so one expects heat to take time. Noisy heaters were a bit distracting during sleep periods.

User 16/01/2020

This was the perfect place to stay in Winter Park!!! It was right next to the bus stops and the staff was very friendly. Good breakfast waffles and great hotel! It was also right next door to some other dining options, but the bus was just as fast.

"Nice Choice for a Hotel"

Pam C, Cheyenne, Wyoming 14/01/2020

Conveniently located in town on shuttle route. LOVED the pillows on the bed, the bed was very comfortable, room was warm and pleasant. Nice breakfast with a big selection, good coffee. Convenient to walk to restaurants. Front desk associates were helpful with questions asked.

"Great Hotel Excellent Service"

Matthew M, Denver, United States 13/01/2020

My favorite place to stay in WP. Close to resort shuttle stop, hot breakfast, hot tub & provided everything else we needed for a great snowboard trip. Kind employees (Keith, Amy & Carol), rooms look recently renovated and you cant beat their location.

"Big pet stain on carpet"

User 08/01/2020

Although most of our experience at this hotel was decent, the fact that there was a big pet stain on the carpet put a big damper on the stay. We were lied to about what it was. I walked up to the desk while 2 employees were talking about it. I overheard them say it was a pet stain. They were fully booked and could not give us another room, but the stain was not being adequately addressed while we were there. I assumed that housekeeping would follow through on finishing the job, but they didn't and I don't think it was their fault. Seems like management was not on top of their game. I needed to ask them to remove the industrial fan, and vacuum the area, to ventilate the room. No one seemed to really care that 1/3 of our tiny room was unusable.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Please accept my apologies for this very unfortunate experience. We were fully aware of the stain and had taken a number of steps to address it before your arrival. Although it should not have been in the room when you checked in, the industrial fan was evidence of our efforts. We are pet friendly and the room you were in was that room type. Unfortunately, one of our furry friends had an accident which happens time to time (also part of the reason why we charge a pet fee). When we treat a room via shampoo and solvents, those can "wick" up over time (not be there when cleaned, but "appear" over time) - - not an excuse but more of an explanation . I would ask that you contact the hotel directly at 970-726-8088, request to speak to Robert (GM) so that we may address this issue further.

"Could've been better"

User 07/01/2020

We stayed for 4 nights. It was close walking distance to much of the town and park, which was nice. The front desk staff was kind, helpful and friendly. Housekeeping could've done a bit better. A cup of hot chocolate sat on the dresser for 2 days. I didn't want to put it in the trash with liquid in it, and it was so thick, I couldn't pour it down the bathroom sink. So if you decide to get hot chocolate from the lobby, I highly advise adding water or milk. Our bathroom floor stayed dirty, like no one ever mopped it. Then we came back to our room, after being gone literally all day long, and our room had been left open. Happy to report everything was in place and nothing was missing, but still. That definitely did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. When I brought it up to the gentleman at the front desk, he did apologize and say he would talk to housekeeping about it, however he did not ask me what room, or my name, so.....Overall our stay here was okay, I guess, but have to say if we travel here again, they will not be our choice hotel.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. What you describe is not acceptable and for that please accept my sincere apologies. We shall take the appropriate actions to correct. Although you mention otherwise, I'd hope you might give us another chance down the road. You booked your stay with Expedia, otherwise I'd be able to provide some compensation for our shortcomings. In the future, I'd suggest booking with us directly or using .

"Winter Park, Colorado"

User 03/01/2020

It was a nice hotel in Colorado!! The snow was beautiful outside! The hotel lobby was kind of small for serving breakfast... the hotel maybe one day. An be remodeled and made bigger, to have a decent size breakfast room, and also a decent size seating area in the lobby.

"Perfect spot for family ski trip"

shelley h, San Diego, California 02/01/2020

Location was 5 mins from Winterpark ski slopes. Bus available right outside hotel to slopes. Walking distance to all manner of restaurants (reservations anywhere highly recommended) Beds super comfortable. Very nice hot tub! Friendly staff. Will definitely stay again.

"Fun location for Winter Park."

lisafahisa, Naples, Florida 31/12/2019

We stayed here one night after Xmas. The location is great for Winter Park. The hotel is basic. It's the location that is ideal. The staff was especially friendly. Craig was very nice at check in and at breakfast. The double bedded room that we had was nothing special but it was fine for one night. The walls and doors are thin and you could hear staff and other guests talking in the halls in the morning. Didn't get to experience much of breakfast. Accessible front entry door did not seem to operate. This hotel would do well with automatic front doors. I paid for the stay with points, otherwise the overnight stay would have run me over $300. I would definitely stay again, but would never pay the seasonal rate would have to have points. We did not use the hot tub or pool area.

Jim K, North Muskegon, Michigan 08/12/2019

Convenient Location. Pick up and drop off to Winter Park ski area is just across the street. Better than average breakfast. Location is in the downtown area close to restaurants and shopping area.Clean hotel with friendly staff.Would stay again.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks Jim - You summed it up perfectly. We welcome your return visit !

"Scam charges"

User 08/12/2019

The hotel advertises as pet friendly with a $15 charge - which is fine. They don't explain - on line or during your phone reservation - that there are only 6 pet-friendly rooms and a charge of $75 cash for a special “deep-cleaning fee.” You only find this out at check-in. They explain that they do not accept credit cards for this charge because guests complain of being scammed and challenge the charge with the CC company. If you don't have $75 cash, they tell you to find and ATM. Since the reservations are non-refundable, you're trapped - either fork over the Benjamins or forfeit your room fee. Obviously, guests feel scammed BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING SCAMMED. The next morning as I was leaving I asked the cleaning crew who was waiting outside my room if they had instructions to deep clean my room because I had my 16-pound dog with me - they said no. There are lots of other hotels in Winter Park that welcome pets. I would suggest choosing one of those and avoiding the Mafia-like shakedown at Best Western.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for this opportunity to educate guests on our pet policy. Yes, we are pet friendly, and we do love our furry friends, but that does not mean every room in the hotel can accept a pet. This is by design to protect other guests that may have allergies. The pet rooms are clearly identified on the hotel room page with a "pet friendly" room type banner often with a picture of a favorite four-legged friend (depending upon where one books) - - - not sure how much clearer we can make it. For a pet room, we charge an additional $15/per pet, per night - - - maximum of $150 for the week. That is the only additional charge for a pet room. If a guest arrives without a reservation for a pet room, we will place them in a "non" pet room for a $75 fee. This fee is to off-set a deep clean required on the "non" pet room so that we don't have the issue with allergies previously mentioned. The staff you spoke with were obviously unaware of this additional assignment for them that day, but it is executed. I would caution the reader about the statement "there are plenty of other hotels in Winter Park that welcome pets", because that is simply not true. If they do accept pets, they have limited rooms and charge a nightly fee such as we do. One property will allow pets in any room type, but they then charge a one-time $75 fee for the deep clean explained. Now that you know "the rules" we'd love to welcome you back at a future date - - - with a pet room reservation - - - which is best made directly with the hotel at 970-726-8088.

"A little out of our way but worth the time and drive"

thomasu29, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 01/11/2019

The property was easy to find and parking was well lit. The staff at the desk at check in, later on with information about the local restaurants, and at check out the next day were exceptional. Breakfast was good but a little crowded. We were traveling on I70 with this was an overnight stop. It was a little out of the way but a nice ride and a good place to walk around town.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for a nice review. We are a bit of a drive from I-70, but it is rather scenic. Come and see us again soon!

"Comfortable hotel"

TripPhotographer52, Cincinnati, Ohio 07/10/2019

My wife and I drove through the Rocky Mountain National Park from Boulder and decided to stay at this Best Western. The staff was very nice and friendly and the room was clean but nothing fancy. There were a few restaurants nearby. I also selected this hotel because I had points to stay for free.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We appreciate your loyalty to the Best Western brand as evidenced by your "free" stay. The Best Western Rewards program is actually one of the industry leaders, offering 1 point for every dollar spent, reasonable redemption rates and the opportunity to turn points into gift cards. Best part is - - - your points never expire! Come see us again - - -whether using points or not ;-)

"Out of season visit to Rocky Mountain National Park"

User 07/10/2019

Just needed somewhere to stay a couple of nights close to RMNP at short notice - this place ticked all our boxes (and more) and didn't disappoint. Staff generally friendly, comfortable spacious rooms, pretty good breakfast. Good enough location for us, 45 mins from the park (Grand Lake end of Trail Ridge Road), though we struggled to find dining in Winter Park after our long days in the park, this being mid-September and somewhat out of season.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We're very happy to have met your expectations. While we obviously can't control the availability of restaurants in the off-season, our front desk can typically help with recommendations and verify certain locations are open. Please come see us again soon!

"Rude Employee, Unclear Pet Policy, Broken Hot Tub"

RYANB120, Pueblo, Colorado 07/10/2019

We booked our room online because this hotel was listed as pet friendly and that they had a hot tub. So we packed our dogs and our swimsuits and headed up. At check in no one asked about pets and we assumed we had a pet room. We had planned on hot tubbing that evening but were informed the hot tub was out of order. So we decided to go play at The Foundry. While there around 7:30 PM I received an extremely rude call from Keith stating that the dogs were barking and that I needed to come get them and keep them in the car. Before I could even get back he cancelled my keys and when I came to the front desk told me that I wasn't in a pet room and that he was charging me a $100 “annoyance fee”. I can understand if it was late at night but it was 7:30 in the evening and these are two 20 pound Shiba Inus. Also, I had booked the room online and the rooms that dogs were not allowed in were clearly marked and the room I got was not marked as no pets so I assumed it was a pet room. Regardless Keith was extremely rude about the way he handled it. The following morning we were all woken up at 6:00 AM by the rolling of carts, the banging of these carts against our door and the staff doing laundry and trash right outside our room. Overall it was a really poor experience and not what we're used to when traveling to mountain tourist areas.

Thank you for this opportunity to educate guests on our pet policy. Yes we are pet friendly, but we only have a limited number of rooms that can accommodate pets to protect other guests that may have allergies. Depending where one books (we suggest, our pet rooms are clearly identified in the room description line or possibly with a picture of a favorite furry friend - - - not sure how much clearer we can make it. In addition, our pet room policies are clearly laid out on the hotel information page under "pets" or "pet policy", again depending upon where one books. In this instance, you actually brought your pets into the hotel without our knowledge or you would have been aware of the "annoyance fee" which is clearly spelled out at check-in. Two barking dogs at 7:30 in the evening is truly an "annoyance" for other guests. It is unfortunate that you had other issues with your stay and for that we are truly sorry.

"Good place to stay!"

Lori K, McVeytown, Pennsylvania 04/10/2019

We were traveling from Aspen to Estes Park and decided to stay in Winter Park. It was a nice hotel. Good breakfast. The room was nice and it was clean. Restaurants are close by. I would recommend this place.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for your recommendation ;-) Consider the source, but we feel you made a wise choice by staying in Winter Park on your way to visit Rocky Mountain National Park.

Lobby was very nice. Front desk was very helpful at check in and departure. Room was very clean. Internet was pretty fast and reliable. Great area for restaurants, winter skiing and sports, hiking, etc..

"Great place to stay"

spencerlakemusic2019, Shelton, Washington 22/09/2019

The motel was in a great location, had welcoming staff and the room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a plus. There were not side tables or lamps on both sides of the bed. It's helpful now a days with cell phones to plug in and for each person to have a light for reading.

"Clean Rooms "

User 16/09/2019

Caution : We stayed Friday September 6 for 1 night. Front desk representatives were rude especially the older gentleman. We were asking questions about the town, entertainment, restaurants , rude answers - we could have stayed longer but wouldn't spend another night. Breakfast was great and clean establishment.

Joyce Y, Lakewood, Colorado 16/09/2019

Great staff let me check in early . Had a wedding and needed to get ready before checkin time. breakfast was really good hot meal even had green chili for the eggs..make your own waffles and granola..perfect

"Good location for summer visit"

tsjstx, Austin, Texas 03/09/2019

We chose to stay in Winter Park after visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. The hotel is in the middle of town, which is nice for summer, but if skiing I would have preferred to have been closer to the mountain. The room was clean and the AC worked well. If visiting Winter Park in the summer be sure to ask about AC as many of the other hotels do not have it.

"Great overall Hotel Experience!"

Linda M, Federal Heights, United States 26/08/2019

We arrived early to Winterpark and Kimmi was able to get us in. We were so grateful to be able to unload early, before an afternoon of Golf. The room was nicely appointed and all the guests around us were very thoughtful guests.

"Nice area"

736edb, Eagle Mountain, Utah 21/08/2019

The hotel is in a great location in the mountains. Otherwise just ok. The room itself was fine, but creaky floors above were a bummer. The real downfall was the breakfast. Not sure if the girl taking care of it was new, but it needed help. Garbage cans overflowing and food items were out. I only saw her for a minute of the 10 I was eating.

"Clean room, comfortable beds"

jbrads607580, Dallas, Texas 12/08/2019

Location was good. Staff was nice. Mountain View room wasn't really the best view, but if you looked to the side you could see the mountain. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. A little pricey for the size of room.

"Lower quality Best Western"

M6581POsgd, Casole d'Elsa, Italy 11/08/2019

This Best Western is in a good location in the center of Winter Park. It was clean and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast is about as expected. The building itself is rather worn and could use a refresh. It has a hot tub which is in a tired outbuilding. There is an outdoor bar on the north side (even-numbered rooms) - better to stay in an odd-numbered room. We were charged a small resort fee - this is definitely not a resort. The Trp Advisor rankings are rather high, so we expected much more than we experienced.

"Clean and comfortable rooms"

User 10/08/2019

Good place to stay right in the middle of downtown Winter Park. Hot tub location not so good but breakfast was great and customer service was excellent. Move or do away with the Hot Tube., not necessary

"Nice hotel, great staff!"

User 30/07/2019

We stayed here for one night on the way to RMNP and it was great! Brittany at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and nice. This hotel is super close to restaurants and shops in Winter Park as well! Not a bad place to stay!

"Beyond CLEAN..."

User 29/07/2019

I have NEVER EVER stayed in a hotel/room as clean as this one! I am OCD when it comes to cleanliness. When I say there was not a spec of dirt anywhere(even behind the toilet...I checked) I am not exaggerating!!!!

"Family Summer Vacation"

Debra C, Coral Springs, Florida 26/07/2019

This hotel met all our needs as a group - grandparents, parents, and little ones aged 2 and 4. The hotel was spotless, breakfast TERRIFIC, rooms were quiet and restful, service and location were great. The front desk staff took initiative to provide crayons and coloring booklets for the little ones, and helped us with everything from restaurants to Band-Aids. A lovely playground for the kids in walking distance, too! The location gave us easy access to Winter Park Resort, Sombrero Stables, Granby Lake, and Grand Lake. We look forward to next time!

Adrean S, United States 19/07/2019

Great service. Room was great for the price. The beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast area and lobby were very nice. It was right on the main street so, it was within walking distance to many places to dine.

"Pretty good place to stay"

Joe58156, Roanoke, Virginia 16/07/2019

I must admit that our stay here was good. It's clean and comfortable and there were no problems. The breakfast was standard BW fare, which is good. Staff were friendly. But it was weird that the room was so small! It had all the usual furniture that you'd find in a BW, but the furniture just barely fit, and there was not a lot of extra floor space. So basically, we were not unhappy with our stay.

"Lovely place"

Gooseview, New Orleans, Louisiana 07/07/2019

We stayed here several nights over July 4th holiday, and were very pleased. The place is convenient walking distance from the towns shops and restaurants. Near the city park and on the bus route to the ski slopes. Our room was clean and had all we needed for a good nights rest.

"Great Place to Spend A Week"

LeeG64, Concordia, Kansas 03/06/2019

This is a very nice property in a great location. Walking distance to coffee houses, restaurants, bakeries. Check in is fast and easy. All hotel employees I encountered were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. Breakfast is good however it doesn't change much during the week. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Hotel is quiet and very clean. I would recommend this property to enhance your Winter Park experience.

"Great Stay"

User 03/06/2019

We came 500 miles for a grandson's graduation from High School. Loved this hotel. The rooms were exceptionaly clean. Everything worked. The lobby was clean. And the breakfast (Hot Food) was good. Very easy access to hotel from main street. And finally the price was right. Visitor from Utah

"Keith is Awesome"

521kristenk, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania 17/05/2019

Just here to say that Keith who was working at the front desk is one of the most amazing Best Western Employees I've ever encountered. He was very efficient in getting us checked in. His sarcastic sense of humor really gave us some comedic relief after an 8 hour drive here from South Dakota. He had some great recommendations ready to go and was very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. Love Him!

"Good option!"

447madelynm, Key Largo, Florida 02/04/2019

I do not have nothing negative to said only positive . Excellent Staff , confortable bed, good location, and good breakfast .You have an ski rental store next to the hotel. When you stay in the hotel you will get a 20%off in all ski rental .

"Super great value"

pi-lette, Boulder, Colorado 24/03/2019

This place looks frumpy on the outside, but it was wonderful and a great value. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed: hot tub, great breakfast (with NO styrofoam and they use paper-based plates & glasses--YAY), close to everything, and a super great value. We'll be back.

"Awesome place"

538kimbere, Dallas, Texas 19/03/2019

We had a wonderful stay here. Great location, It is in the heart of everything. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. Keith (evening front desk clerk) was nice, funny, informative, and great with kids. The Free breakfast was wonderful with a great variety of food. Simple rooms but had everything you need and clean. We would stay here again!!

"Great little spot!"

SummitvilleMan, Summitville, Ny 13/03/2019

The Alpenglow Best Western is a friendly, convenient and nicely located spot in Winter Park. It is just 3 miles from the main base lodge/gondola and 5 miles from the Mary Jane base. There are many eating and other establishments within walking distance. It is definitely a place you should consider when staying in Winter Park.

"Winter Park hotel is welcoming and convenient"

Scott G, Providence, Rhode Island 10/03/2019

I stayed st this hotel while in town for a concert and the hotel was very nice. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was tasty but the dining area was small and very busy. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and was happy with the hotel. Thanks

"Weekend Getaway"

DavidF9573, Acworth, Georgia 03/03/2019

Well I want to be fair. The hotel layout and rooms met my expectations. Additionally it is very convenient to the Winter Park base. And I must say the staff that we interacted with were professional and polite. However, on this weekend they were just in over their head. Obviously sold out and understaffed. Our room was never serviced and for the rate for the weekend you would think that it wouldn't be an issue. When questioned at the desk they had towels and soap available and it was delivered with a smile. Breakfast was tough both days. Again, just understaffed. No eggs or bacon/sausage either day and the waffles ran out in Saturday. Would I come back...probably...only because of the staff that's was working...they were working hard and had a smile on their face.

"Skiing at Winter Park"

User 16/02/2019

It was a good hotel at a good price. And just a short drive down from Winter Park Ski Resort. It had a hot breakfast with eggs and sausage. My only complaint was there wasn't enough room for seating and we had to take our food back to the room and eat.

"Great All The Way Around"

User 29/01/2019

A great place if your planning on skiing, only 5 minutes to Winter Park base, a couple of good restaurants close (highly recommend Smokey's BBQ and Randi's Pub). Front desk staff very friendly and helpful and the rooms very well done, clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was the best I have had in that category and made a welcome start to the day. Will definitely staff there again.

"Stay somewhere else!"

JPaul13, Castle Rock, Colorado 26/01/2019

This hotel benefits from being convenient and pet friendly - they must have a lot of first time visitors and very few return guests. The initial reception was friendly, helpful and proud of the hotel and everything else was awful. Rooms are very small, dated and not practical - not even a mirror outside the bathroom so two people can get ready at the same time. Walls were so thin we could hear the neighboring room all night - even after several people on the floor complained there was really nothin gthe front desk could do. Breakfast was too crowded, the staff couldn't keep up, a single half container of eggs that was gone as soon as it was out and took 5-10 minutes to replace, fewer than 10 tables for an entire hotel. Front desk staff had no knowledge of local "Link" system - to include the names of nearby stops - seriously unacceptable since Link is one of the advertised conveniences of staying there. When we asked for accommodation for a guest that was not skiing to leave an hour late we were told :"we don't make any accommodations during ski season" - and then the staff proceeded to argue about it in front of us - awful policy and clearly inconsistent application. This hotel is too proud of their location and definitely not appreciating your money. Find a VRBO - or just go home, I-70 traffic is no more stressful than this awful experience!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Whew- really sorry you did not have a pleasant experience as so many of our guests do (a high percentage of them "returning"). Breakfast the day of your stay was a challenge as a team member called in sick -- hard to control that. Otherwise, your review is inaccurate in a several ways, but want to point out the most glaring. All guest rooms were fully updated 12 months ago (new furniture, art, other decor, etc.). If not to your taste, that is understood, but they are certainly not dated and intentionally not "any airport hotel USA" but more in the theme of our Alpine environment. We are always making accommodations for our guests if we can, but a sold out weekend is very difficult to do so, as a late check-out may jeopardize a future guest's on-time check-in. That said, your comments about an arguing staff will absolutely be investigated. Finally the Link (properly called the Lift) does not have named stops, rather a number of "color identified" routes that circulate the valley. There is a route map at the front desk and our knowledgeable staff would gladly assist identifying which color route one should take - - - a function of where you want to end up. Doesn't sound like you'll be staying with us again, but would encourage the reader to investigate other traveler reviews.

"In WP for Stagecoach"

Katie-JoeMcD, Pine 25/01/2019

Keith at Alpenglo in Winter Park Colo was the best. Checked us in, made accommodations and changes, made our trip and stay to ski the Stagecoach Nordic ski race the absolute best. We will be back...all 6 of us! And we will bring friends!!! Thank you! KjMcD

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
What a fun review to read! We work hard to make all the standard things above average (cleanliness, decor, breakfast) - - - but it is the staff that truly makes a difference. Look forward to seeing you and your "friends" soon!

"Value and convenience"

eonny, Fort Collins, Colorado 16/01/2019

- Friendly and attentive staff. Special kudos to the breakfast attendant, young kid. - Had third floor room, clean and quiet. Microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. - Two issues with the room. 1. Scratchy towels. 2. For some odd reason the refrigerator is in the clothes closet. It took up room needed to hang clothes. - Breakfast provided. Standard fare, eggs, bacon, cereals, waffle maker... - Location is ideal. Can walk to restaurants. - Would use again.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for a thorough review. Your comments can help us focus on areas needing attention, which is very much appreciated. The "small" refrigerator in the wardrobe closet was a compromise to provide that guest convenience while eliminating the need for another piece of furniture in the room. While not ideal, shirts, blouses, etc. can easily be hung above the refrigerator on that side of the wardrobe. We look forward to your next visit!

"Never again"

User 06/01/2019

The most uncomfortable beds and pillows I have experienced in a hotel. Spent three nights there and each morning my back hurt worse. For being in Winter Park I expected much more. For $800 for three nights during the holiday, I at least expected comfortable mattresses and pillows. Was also promised an early check in that we didn't get. I'll pay more money somewhere else to sleep better and wake up without aches.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We are devastated you did not enjoy your stay - - - especially since a restful night is what you're paying for. We often get rave reviews on our beds, but not every bed appeals to everybody. If we had known of the issue during your stay we would have dealt with it then. Seeing as we didn't get the chance to "make it right", I'd encourage you to call the hotel (970-726-8088) and ask for Robert (GM) who will be more than willing to properly address the situation. Please accept our collective apologies.

"Lovely Stay"

User 05/01/2019

To begin, first time famiky ski trip to Winter Park. We are Best Western reward members & have had wonderful experienxes with the chain. BW Winter Park is great DT location. The staff are wonderful- friendly, helpful & work hard. Rooms clean & comfortable with nice breakfast options. Hope to stay there again soon!

"Fabulous Stay!"

dawn22367, Friendswood, Texas 30/12/2018

This was our 2nd stay here during the Christmas holidays and the hotel and staff are amazing! The location is within walking distance of so many restaurants and the bus that runs to Winter Park Resort picks up and drops off practically in front of the hotel. Extremely convenient!

Thank you so much for a great review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay and very much look forward to seeing you again soon - - - whether that be the Christmas holidays or any other time!

"Best WesternProperty in Winter Park"

liliana p, Fort Collins, Colorado 27/12/2018

I have been a long term member of this hotel chain... this is a tough review though the hotel is or must be in the process of has new furniture, new paint, new carpets, very friendly staff...but its not a yet a Plus Property... my opinion? Rooms are small although freshly done, not enough towels in the bathroom, great shower head not enough toiletries fridge was not even cold although I called ahead and asked that it be turned on. Breakfast was less than desirable...standard powdered eggs, sausage, bakery items some yogurt, and incredible small area. Actually breakfast was held in the reception area, extremely hot, considering the its a ski area and patrons are ready to hit the slopes with all their winter attire. few tables, few chairs, overcrowded and very unpleasant. Unless they are listed as a PLUS property I would not return sorry folks...not many Best Westerns in the area, but for $215.00 a night I expected much more

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for such a thorough review and your loyalty to our brand. Although noted in the rooms via signage, we would have been happy to address your needs for more bath towels than the four provided or additional amenities. To be clear, we do not serve "powdered eggs", but instead provide "real eggs" that have not been previously frozen. We are tight on our breakfast space, especially when everyone comes at the same time - - - but when the hotel was built - - - breakfast was coffee and a donut. Now we provide all you noted and more. The rate you mention was very competitive with our market during the busiest week of the year, but similar to other industries, varies with supply and demand. Much of what we offer at our property meets the "Plus" requirements, but for a variety of reasons we have chosen not to move to the Plus brand. Maybe you'd come see us again - - - possibly mid-week - - - when the hotel is not as busy and rates are not as high?

"Ups and downs and a little strange"

JosephXJ, Big Sky, Montana 12/12/2018

The ups, great staff, Bob got us in early, Tim the breakfast guy (who we thought was the GM) does the best 2 star hotel breakfast ever give this place the 3rd star in this review. The downs, beds one good one not so good the noise of dogs below us. The strange, no manager. As we stated we thought Tim was it, but the GM works nights mostly. As a former hotel worker, WTF, why?? Who leads the staff or talks up the guests to ensure quality? We wanted to to with the manager to state our likes and dislikes, but we put it here instead.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Interesting review. Pleased you liked the staff and breakfast. It is unfortunate you were not able to speak to the GM, but as a former hotel worker, you are certainly aware that a GM does not work a 8-5 shift. During your stay, we had new night audit employees which obligated the GMs time - - - late in the evening. Plus there are always days off to consider. Regardless, thanks for your thoughts and we hope to see you again soon.

"Overnight stay"

User 09/12/2018

Awesome staff- super friendly and helpful! They also went above and beyond for us and helped us out with our pet. Check-in was easy and quick, breakfast was great with quite a variety of items, rooms had updated furniture, decor, and TV, bathroom was clean and stocked with the usual hotel items, lobby/breakfast area was clean, staff was great at keeping up with the tracking in of snow—overall great and we will be staying here again! Price and location were great for our overnight stay!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Excellent review - - - thank you so much for taking the time to submit it! Hope it's not too long until we see you again!

"Need new beds"

DeVi423, Denver, Colorado 08/12/2018

We had to move to a different hotel at 1am because we were unable to fall asleep due to the poor bed quality. Everything else about the hotel was very nice. It appears to have been recently remodeled and the location is walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We just weren't able to sleep which defeats the purpose of paying for a hotel room.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
This review is especially perplexing, as we heard nothing about an issue with our beds from you until posted on Tripadvisor. It is especially surprising since many of our guests "love" our beds (please see earlier reviews). Further research showed we checked you in very early in the day (around 11:30 a.m. which we'll do if rooms are available) giving a full day to determine if the room suited your needs. Our night audit person stated you "left in a hurry" and did not disclose why you were leaving, so the assumption is there is more to the story here. We did make an accommodation regarding the situation and would only hope next time we might be able to remedy the situation at the time it occurred.

"Good location to ski"

Bunny59, Ottawa, Canada 04/12/2018

Super friendly staff. The man at the desk let us microwave our leftovers and use their dishes. The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was an included buffet that was very good. A free bus stops across the street which takes you to the ski resort, about 5-10 minutes away. They had a nice hot tub in a separate cozy building just a few feet away from the main building-nice after a day of skiing.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to submit this review. Looks like we hit all the buttons - - - friendliness, service, cleanliness, breakfast, convenience - - - yet only 3 of 5 stars? Wondering what we'd have to do to get 5?

"Great customer service and the best honest people around"

snowcraving, Southern California 24/11/2018

My family and I spent a few nights in Winter Park last ski season. We left behind my favorite down jacket (at the time) and contacted the front desk to ask hem if they could send it. They did not, but this weekend, months after our last visit Carol looked for it in the L&F and bingo! they still had it. It is not very often (unfortunately) that you find this kind of honesty and service. Thank you Carol and Alpenglow...Oh, and the service, breakfast and accommodations are also great.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thank you for letting us add yet another exemplary "customer service" example to our records. There are so many examples of how our staff goes the extra mile - - - your acknowledgement of their efforts is very much appreciated. When will we be seeing you next?

User 18/11/2018

Keith is the BEST PERSON TO TALK TO! We couldn't come the day we wanted to due to weather and, no problem! He helped us out. When we came to check in, there he was.. awesome as heck, such a character and if u ask me.. deserves a huge raise! Definitely will be coming back to stay here every time we go skiing. This place has good people and good vibes!!!

"Comfortable beds, wonderful staff!"

DayTrip48768086556, Indianapolis, Indiana 07/11/2018

Front desk staff, housekeeping, managers, maintenance -- everyone was good-natured, friendly and helpful. Beds here were the most comfortable of the three hotels we booked during our 10-day trip -- beating out Wyndham and DoubleTree on this trip.

"Ski Hotel"

shaunc821, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 06/11/2018

Does what you need when you are in a ski town in the winter. Clean, warm, central location in Town. Only 10 mins to slopes on Shuttle. Probably best to book well in advance during peak ski season. Will use again.

"Comfortable one night stay in Winter Park"

KikoSadie, Centennial, Colorado 26/10/2018

This was our second time staying at Best Western Alpenglo with our dogs. The rooms were comfortable and reasonable priced, the staff members friendly and helpful, breakfast was satisfying, and the location was convenient. We had plans to walk the Fraser River trail, and the trailhead was just walking distance from the hotel. Overall we were very pleased and would stay here again.

"Surprised...Pleasantly!! "

closch7, Galena, Ohio 29/09/2018

Our trip through Colorado continues with a stop in Winter Park. Keith at the desk was helpful explaining the property and giving tips for our dinner choices. The room is clean and recently remodeled. Air conditioned which was needed today with the very warm temperatures. Nice breakfast included. It's conveniently located near shopping and restaurants.

"Great hotel. Great location"

GJW1224304, Tadley, United Kingdom 19/09/2018

Excellent hotel to stay in Winter Park. The staff were very knowledgeable and recommended places to eat, including Randi's Bar and Restaurant, which was only a block away. The hotel was clean and our room on the top floor was quiet. Special thanks to Bob on reception who located my husbands wedding ring which he had left in the bathroom on departure. We collected it the following day and thanked him in person. Bob should be rewarded for his excellent service by the hotel management.

"Excellent location in middle of Winter Park"

Naomi D, Central Kansas 07/09/2018

This is a very solid hotel choice for the Winter Park area. Easy to walk to nearby eating places and a grocery store. Also walking/bike trail goes right by hotel. Easy parking close parking. Comfortable rooms with good views. Breakfast was average.

"Great place in the mountains"

RDSCLJ, Longmont, Colorado 31/08/2018

I love this place. Super comfortable and clean. I love the staff. I really enjoyed my breakfast. I like the cozy area. I like the walking paths close by. I have dogs and this place is great to my dogs in the dog friendly rooms.

"Convenient Location"

Ruth H, Edgewood, Kentucky 28/08/2018

If you are looking for a place to stay for one night in Winter Park, this Best Western would be a good choice. We explored Rocky Mountain National Park that day and drove from the entrance at Estes Park to Winter Park. This was a good choice. Staff were nice and the rooms clean. Worked for us.

"Clean Basic Accommodations with Good Breakfast"

JenejaShawnee, Kansas City 27/08/2018

We stayed in a double with 2 double beds. It was extremely clean and attractively updated with a small, but clean and nice bathroom with the expected amenities. The front desk people were very pleasant and helpful, with suggestions and directions. The best surprise was the very good included breakfast that included excellent scrambled eggs and the fixings for breakfast burritos, as well as waffles and the usual "continental breakfast" fare you expect from this type of place.

"Great Service, Needs firmer beds"

BubbaS1947, Manzanita, Oregon 24/08/2018

Had a wonderful stay, friendly staff, good breakfast, centrally located. Only area for improvement is to replace older mattresses which are very soft, dish bowling and non supportive...based on mattress in room 304. Otherwise would be way above average.

"Our dog agrees...nice hotel."

Mary D, Littleton, Colorado 23/08/2018

Pros: We had a pet friendly room and it was very clean and did not have a heavy room deodorant smell like other hotels do. The furniture was new. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The room had a microwave, refrigerator and fully stocked coffee maker. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was included but it was only average. Cons: The room was a little cramped. The drains in the sink and bathtub were plugged. The bathroom was very small and there was little room to put out our toiletries. That's it folks!

"Great place and location"

amilner2179, Salou, Spain 19/08/2018

Totally faultless for anything you'd need to have whilst away. We stay here whilst skiing Winter Park and it is close to everything you need. Rooms are spotless and comfortable. Breakfast always excellent. Staff always professional and friendly.

"We love staying here!"

User 17/08/2018

We stay here each year when we attend the Winter Park Beer Festival. The staff, Bob especially, is always friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean, have the amenities we need and the beds are comfortable. We enjoy that this is so close to the beer festival and has some great restaurants in the area as well! Thanks for always making our stay great!

"Just about perfect "

User 17/08/2018

We were staying three nights but added another night as there was more hiking than we had thought. Very clean and, friendly staff. Right on the main drag. We never moved our car to go to dinner which we really like. Breakfast was pretty typical for a Best Western, enough variety, they rotated the breakfast meat every day. The only negative was the Folgers coffee machine. I'd rather have Folgers from a Bunn with coffee pots. We would stay there again.

"Would have been a 5 if not for housekeeping mistake"

User 10/08/2018

This hotel is in a great location walking distance from lots of nice restaurants, shopping, parks, and trails in Winter Park. The staff is welcoming. The breakfast buffet is large and tasty. The rooms are fine, and there is a hot tub. So why am i not giving it a 5? It's unfortunately because after our first night in the hotel, we went to the nearby alpine slide at Winter Park Resort and returned at about 3 Pm to find our room only half cleaned (only one bed made, bathroom sink not cleaned...) and the room door to the hall wide open (not just unlocked, but wide open). Any of our stuff inside could have stolen (we had several laptops inside). No cleaning staff were in sight. I went to the front desk and complained. 15 minutes later, the cleaning supervisor came by and apologized, said they had gotten distracted with something and left our room half done with the door open. I appreciate the apology, but I still can't give this otherwise very nice hotel more than a 3 after that experience.

"Fantastic Hotel"

User 27/07/2018

The hotel was clean and modern. The assortment available at the breakfast was fantastic - everything from build your own breakfast sandwiches, to waffles, to yogurt. Staff was friendly as well. The hot tub out back is a nice bonus - adds to the alpine feel of the property.

"Great location"

sgroth, Urbandale, Iowa 23/07/2018

The hotel is close to everything....restaurants, bars, shops, and trails!!! The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not replemished and by 8 there were slim pickings.

"Nice Stay at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge Winter Park Co"

David T, syosset, United States 10/07/2018

While the motel is not the most modern, the lobby /reservation desk was very clean and they had a good selection for the free breakfast. Tea and coffee is available all day long. The gentleman at the reservation desk who checked us in was very friendly, asked about our travels and even gave some advise about places to visit in the area. The room was clean and some what updated / fine for the two nights we were there. The room was even equipped with a refrigerator- perfect for keeping bottles of water cold to take with us while touring the area.

"Night 2 on the Motorcycle get away"

Oly28, Thornton, Colorado 07/07/2018

The staff was very welcoming as well settled in after a 2nd day of riding. The rooms were very clean and consistently quality checked before letting people into them to make sure they are up to snuff. The staff new the area restaurants and pubs pretty well which was a bonus. Only bummer was hot tub could have used more powerful jets.

"Nice stay in Winter Park"

ahanthorn, Indianapolis, IN 30/06/2018

Hotel property was very easy to find and in close walking proximity to several restaurants, though since this is primarily a ski town, many close very early in the summertime. Room we stayed in was clean and large enough for a one night stay for two people. Hot tub available for use, but you do have to walk outside of the main building to small building in the back, so could be a little chilly in the winter. Free breakfast provided with many options and was kept very well stocked. Hotel staff that we had contact with were very nice and informative about the area.

ColoDream, Silverthorne, Colorado 26/06/2018

check in with the guy on duty who was rude. we had requested an adjoining room when we reserved a two night stay directly with the hotel on the phone. reason was we were there with our son and daughter-in-law and their 4 month old. the guy on duty abruptly told us that it is not possible to request an adjoining room. but the fact is we did request it so someone was mistaken and definitely was the guy on duty. we at least got rooms on the same floor with our family. when we got to our room, guess what, it had an adjoining room. unlucky for us, the guy who was in the adjoining room had some kind of condition where he hacked and coughed all night long. obviously not a fault of the hotel but the noise came right through the door to the adjoining room. my advice, make sure your room does not have an adjoining room. down the hall was a room which the guest had a dog. she would leave the room but left it ajar via the lock bar. as a result the dog would scratch the door and bark for hours. i reported it to the guy on duty the next day, the same one as before and he did nothing about it. so beware it is a pet friendly motel. overall, the room was somewhat clean, not fully vacuumed. the rooms are very small. breakfast was good but the area is small and all the tables continuously full. best part of the motel is it is conveniently located to the downtown area and amphitheater. but you do pay the price as it is just under $200 a night for an average at best motel. don't be fooled, it is not a lodge as you would think of in Colorado.

"OK for an overnight"

Emily Y, Santa Clarita, California 23/06/2018

The Alpenglo Lodge is conveniently located near several good restaurants and is a good place to spend a night, although I'm not sure I would stay longer. The room is small and, in my opinion, oddly decorated. The furniture is rather modern, like something from Ikea, and a chair is stuffed tightly into a space between the bed and the bathroom so someone would have trouble getting out of that side of the bed. One bed has 6 pillows on it. 6!!! The air conditioning unit is also very loud. I thought the free breakfast was outstanding. Besides the usual fare of cereal, muffins, waffles, and juice, we were also offered bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese, salsa, and tortillas to make breakfast burritos. That was something I've never seen before in a free breakfast, and I thought this was a really nice touch to set this place apart.

"The Door in the Floor"

William S, Wylie, Texas, United States 20/06/2018

So it isn't really a door but in room 211 under the carpet in front of the bed lies a large hole that my foot found several times during my stay. The room seemed small as if part of the renovation was to make more rooms and in the process created that cracker box feel. Noisey a/c vibration all night was a joy as well. The huge uncomfortable chair in the room jammed against the lamp jammed against the wall was out of place as well. This new style of BW is terrible, especially if you want to unload straight to your room. We arrived at 3 and the room wasn't ready until around 4. This is the first BW I've experienced this at.

"Nice stop, clean room"

Wyndi77, Wheatland, Wyoming 17/06/2018

Rooms and linens were clean and Keith at the front desk was very nice! Prices online didn't match price quote at front desk, when I asked if it included discounts, AAA, etc he said yes- but it was nearly $20 higher. Sink, toilet, and shower all in the same room makes it harder for everyone to get ready. 1 out of our 2 rooms had very weak AC in the night. And though no fault of the hotel, we couldn't even think of getting breakfast. Completely raided and left a mess by other guests and no where to sit, space is very small. I would stay here again, but book online.

"Looking forward to returning"

ThatBram, Lakewood, CO 06/06/2018

This property hit all the right notes for me: value, cleanliness, all furnishings in good working order, & friendly staff—speaking of which, I've never experienced such a well-staffed property (in numbers & quality) outside of a 5-star resort. The double queen room was about average size. The bed and pillows were good—about what I'd expect. It had a moderately sized desk with a rolling table that nests underneath. There's a wardrobe but half the inside was taken up by a decent sized fridge with a microwave stacked on top. One nice feature was the coat hooks near the door. The bathroom was pretty typical—nothing special. Everything was clean and in good repair. There's a small wall-mounted shelf adjacent to the sink that provides a little more space for toiletries. The breakfast area was clean, kept well-stocked, & had a large variety of items (muffins, bagels & bread, yogurt, hot oatmeal packets, cereals, fruits, etc.). They had scrambled eggs, bacon, & tortillas so you could make a breakfast burrito. In addition, it's equipped with 2 Belgian waffle makers (one that makes a single regular size & one that makes 4 small ones), a continuous feed commercial toaster (so more than one person can make toast at a time), and 2 drink dispensers (one for cold drinks like juice & one for hot drinks like coffee.) I'm probably forgetting something but let's just say the selection exceeded my expectations. The location is great it you're looking for a convenient downtown location that makes it easy to walk to restaurants and such. It's about a 60 second bike ride from a big park. If I had one nitpick, it'd be the hot tub cover: they need a new one, maybe a roll-up one.

"Great location"

"Outstanding hospitality!"

User 09/05/2018

Staff was friendly, room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was good. Location was outstanding. There's a distillery right next door! The staff helped me find snow shoe rentals, and gave me wonderful recommendations for places to eat.

"Right in the Middle of Town"

Boystowtraveler, Chciago 09/05/2018

If you want to be centrally located, this place is the one. Its a decent enough place and has some very choice amenities. The room was prone to be a bit cold, especially near the bath area, but overall, not enough to keep me from staying here again. Many restaurants to choose from just steps from the front door. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful when asked for choices on options for places in town.

User 11/04/2018

Found great rate on Expedia. Hotel was freshly updared, staffed with wonderful and accomadating folks. Opened hot tub early for me. No was sore due to the previous day of sking and needed a 6am verses 10am soaking.

"A Typical BW. Nice but nothing special"

EarthTraveler0216, Denver, Colorado 01/04/2018

We have stayed here a couple times on ski trips to Winter Park. It is a nice, yet very average hotel. * The rooms are comfortable and clean. The beds could be more comfortable, but for a Best Western, they are good. * The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful. * Breakfast is good but is served in the lobby. Seating is limited and is always crowded. * The hot tub is a nice thing for after skiing or a long day. * The location is great, right in the middle of town on the free shuttle route. If you want to sleep in, request a room on the top floor. If you plan to wake up early to go skiing, request a room on the first floor. Noise from upper floors carries down. Especially ski boots.

"Nice clean and comfortable rooms. "

User 21/03/2018

Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff. And like others stated the breakfast could be a bit better, but not bad. The parking is a lil bit of a walk, but not bad. Just park out front and unload before parking.

"Ski trip"

commandready, Monument, Colorado 17/03/2018

Rooms were very clean, the staff was very accommodating, breakfast could be a little better, but overall good. Price was based on spring break season which in Colorado seems to go on and on for 6+ weeks, a little bit much , however it is Colorado Sking in March. I would come back to this hotel without question

"Cozy Stay"

User 13/03/2018

This hotel is a great location, the free shuttle to Winter Park is super close and there are some nice restaurants and spots to check out close by. The rooms are pretty cozy and not super big, but we found them comfortable for two people. The occasional child would run by yelling, but that happens at most hotels. The staff is helpful with any questions about getting around and there's a decent breakfast included. There is also a ski/snowboard rental right next door which is really convenient. Overall really liked the hotel and would suggest it!

"Excellent Best Western, super comfy beds, hot portein brk, pet freindly"

snoodleLover, snoodleLover 13/03/2018

very nice Best Western, loved the super comfy beds, hot protein brk, pet friendly rooms without outrageous pet fees, bathroom a little small, would be nice to have larger bathroom vanity space, had to keep bathroom door open to keep bathroom warm.

"Worked great for us"

ScottMacD50, Green Cove Springs, Florida 04/03/2018

We booked this trip last minute as ski conditions in our home state of VT were marginal. The last Best Western we stayed out was in NJ several years ago and it was not good. However Alpenglo Lodge worked out perfectly for us. The room was a decent size (rm 204) and very clean. The check in was easy and friendly. The hotel was very quiet. The breakfast was adequate but more importantly the coffee was good. We had a car so drove to Winter Park every day. We walked to dinner every night. Several very good restaurants within a five minute walk which was really nice. It was a great stay.

"Perfect location for a Winter Vacation!"

Winterwolf777, Jacksonville, Florida 21/02/2018

The location is perfect for any winter activities you may have planed. My wife, adult son and I had 4 glorious days here in Winter Park CO. The breakfast at this BW was outstanding with a variety of items to choose from. The coffee was exceptional. Bob one of the desk clerks was outstanding, he made our stay delightful. He is an asset to this lodge. The central location of the lodge is perfect for skiers, snowmobilers, snowshoers, tubers and hikers. Rentals for ski equipment is directly next door. The Smoke House across the street has great BBQ (Real Southern style)! I recomend you give it your consideration. You won't be disapointed.

"Great Hotel for a Ski Trip"

onehappytrip, texas 12/02/2018

This a great base for a Winter Park Ski Trip. The hotel is a smaller size and the room we had was smaller with a good view of the mountain. Breakfast was very good - eggs, breakfast meat, waffles, pastries (including bagels and cream cheese), juice, coffee, and cereal. Coffee machine was available 24 hours. Location is very good. Shuttle for the city and ski area right outside the door. Walk to restaurants and shopping. Enjoyed this trip more than a more expensive condo stay where you cook and clean. Staff very friendly both at front desk and cleaning staff. Would stay again!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
What a great review - - - thanks so much! We very much look forward to your return.

"The worse customer service at the front desk. "

User 10/02/2018

We arrived at 1pm and they told me to wait until 4pm, but when arrived at that time they make me wait for another 20 min and the services was REALLY BAD...I asked if they are flexible with the checkout and they said NO ??

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We pride ourselves on providing superior hospitality but sometimes logistics can get in the way. Our guaranteed check-in is 4:00 p.m. If a room is ready earlier, we will gladly allow an early check-in. When you went to check-in around 4:00, you were behind a large group that was in the middle of being processed, unfortunately causing an added delay. You were offered a late check out - - - but that was only an hour extension from our standard 11:00. We're back to logistics. For us to honor the next guest's guaranteed check-in, our staff needs access to that room for the proper preparation. Extending a check-out to mid-afternoon is unfortunately not possible. Your frustration is understood, but I would encourage the reader to check out some other reviews specifically as they relate to our staff and our overall customer service.

"Great location right on Shuttle route"

Shelley K, Bethesda, Maryland 09/02/2018

The location is convenient to the shuttle route, which is right out front. The service was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and the price was reasonable. Breakfast included. We stayed for one night until our house would be ready - they stored our baggage for the day. A good find!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Nice - - - glad you had a great stay. Thank you and come again soon!

"That one night in Winter Park..."

B1828BIjamese, Colorado Springs, Colorado 07/02/2018

I stayed in the town of Winter Park, Co. It was nice. Tourists drive like deekheads so please look out for yourself when crossing the street. The trails were snowy and fun to run. Skiing was cool too and the lines were short because it was midweek. I will stay here again because it is worth it.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at Best Western Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
When you come back, check out our aggressive weekday rates. Might be worth a vacation day or two to experience skiing mid-week.

"Nice place right downtown!"

flyingfish362, Fort Collins, Colorado 05/02/2018

My wife and I just stayed a night in the Alpenglo Lodge. The room was clean and updated with everything that my wife and I needed. The location can't be beat, right downtown with the bus right out front. The morning breakfast was hot and fresh with a pretty decent selection of eggs, sausage, muffins, cereal, fruit, and beverages. My wife and I used the hot tub also. It is located in a separate little building. The water was nice and hot, with plenty of room. Make sure you grab towls from the front desk. Checkin/out was smooth and pain free. Would go back again for sure.

"Practical "

saif2707, Muscat, Oman 05/02/2018

The hotel is located close to most activities. Staff are very nice and helpful. The breakfast area was too small for the number of guests (during weekends). Rooms and corridors were a little smelly. If guests upstairs move, you can here their steps. The heater was old and noisy. But what I found really strange, was that the fridge and microwave are inside the wardrobe. (See photo)

"Center of town location"

partie-of-seven, Roselle, Illinois 21/01/2018

This hotel is located within walking distance of the majority of the shopping and dining in Winter Park. It is on the free shuttle route to the ski resort. The front dest staff is very friendly and the breakfast is fine. The hotel is a bit old and the cleaning staff is a bit lax. You have to go outside the main building and down some stairs to a small separate building in the back to access the hot tub. The parking lot is small.

"Not Impressed"

Summer G, Denver, Colorado 20/01/2018

The bad thing about reading good reviews on Trip Advisor is that you go in with high expectations. I was disappointed in the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge. The staff were definitely very friendly and helpful. But the room was very outdated (as was the entire hotel itself). The bed was lumpy, and the heater was loud when it clicked on/off. But most importantly, it didn't feel clean. I found multiple hairs on my bedroom pillow and looked like parts of the floor had not been vacuumed. I only stayed for one night -- and I got in late and left early. For my purpose, the stay was "fine." But if I were to return to Winter Park for a longer stay, I would not stay here.

"Nice place to stay-centrally located"

SusieMA1, Belleville, Kansas 08/01/2018

Our room was a good size but the bathroom is really small. Big enough for 1 at a time. We have a microwaves & mini fridge which is always handy to have. They serve a nice hot breakfast with scrambled eggs and some meat. We have had crumbled bacon and sausage links. Also shredded cheese, muffins, mini donuts, make your own waffles, apples, oranges, oj and cranberry juice. They did run out of several things and did not replace them. Pretty bad they didn't have any more plates, peanut butter and jelly. My apple was rotten inside so I pitched it. Oranges were delicious. Our room was quiet most of the time. Our bed was fine, linens and towels too.

"Fantastic value for the area!"

Katy C, Firestone, Colorado 03/01/2018

We were in room 105, which is a suite. 2 adults, 3 kids. Although maybe a new paint job is due, it was an amazing value and good sleep. The breakfast area has a LOT to choose from. It was not just a box of donuts, a glass of juice and a have a good day. Something there for just about everyone. Clean, extremely polite employees, and a nice stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

"Execellent stay"

QPiperQ, California 29/12/2017

We had an excellent stay over the holidays. The team at this hotel was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel rooms may need a little bit of work but they aren't getting there. There wasn't anything that we needed and we appreciate the staff and how hard they worked plus this is a great location in terms of being in town and the shuttle to the ski slopes is very convenient

"Great value, great location!"

User 26/12/2017

I had a fabulous stay at the alpenglo lodge! The hot tub is great (very large, spacious enough for a few groups in a nice wooden building). Rooms are nice and clean, the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was a notch above average for a simple continental breakfast. There's a shuttle stop right outside so it's very easy to get to the slopes, and you can walk to a lot of different fun restaurants and bars within a few minutes.

"Convenient location, great breakfast"

trevorc151, Beardstown, United States 23/12/2017

Other than the crumbs in the bed and1:00 am fire alarm, we had a nice comfortable stay. The manager change the sheets when we checked in and found the crumbs. We received a discount on our room for the fire alarm. It is minutes away from the ski slopes and walking distance from great eateries. Comfortable rooms.

"Nice Place"

josephbL2380JP, Glen Ellyn, United States 11/12/2017

Clean rooms. Recently redone. Great breakfast. Helpful people. Great location to Winter Park bus shuttle. Good value. Will stay there again. Refrigerator in room did not work. Shower made a whistle noise when water running. (Minor issues.) Staff indicated that they recently replaced all furnishings, and rooms looked recently remodeled.

"Wonderful stay, great location"

User 07/12/2017

This is a great hotel right near everything in Winter Park. Clean, updated rooms, super comfy beds, friendly and helpful staff, and a delicious breakfast. Close to restaurants and other fun things to do. We really enjoyed our stay.

"Another Great Stay"

Matthew M, Denver, United States 03/12/2017

I love staying here when I am in Winter Park. Every staff member I encountered there were very friendly and would go out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. Bob and Keith at the front desk were some of the most polite gentleman I have ever met and provided excellent guest service every time I needed something. Every thing worked in my room and I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. As a bonus, It also has a great location in down town Winter Park and is close to many excellent shopping, dining, ski rental shops and night life.

"Great stay"

Rickey C, Lafayette, United States 30/11/2017

We enjoyed our stay at The Best Western Alpenglo Lodge in Winter Park Co. The property is centrally located. We walked to resturants and drove a short distance to activities. Nice clean room and great staff.

"Had a pleasant stay"

vindhyag2017, Parker, United States 30/11/2017

The Hotel is good for the price we payed and it's break fast included deal. Totally worth it. The Matresses are too soft and couldn't get good sleep. But still i would go there again for the price. Wish the beds were of good quality.

"Worth the price"

Casey C, Pine, United States 27/11/2017

Clean older building with a caring staff. Small rooms with table not desk set up. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Nothing fancy but works for business in the area when not needing a ski resort.

"Great place to stay."

Great location with a friendly staff. Manager was very helpful and attentive. Great breakfast each morning. Very conveniently located for local attractions. Room and bed were very clean and conlmfortable.

"Great for the price"

lawrencemp2017, Dayton, United States 20/11/2017

A good value. Staff was excellent. If you're looking for a decent value for your ski trip, this will do. Somewhat limited parking but, it didn't present too much of a problem. There is a ski rental shop right next door.

"Mountain Getaway"

todl343, Ohio, United States 11/10/2017

Hotel is located in the middle of town with easy walking to restaurants and bars. The hotel is updated with nice lobby and hot tub out back. There is a picnic table next to the stream at the back of the property and a park just down the street. The staff was friendly and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is bar has burritos and waffle makers along with the normal far. We visited during the fall and had great views changing leaves and snow caps in the distance.

Pamela S, Kearney, Missouri 04/10/2017

Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were okay, average, but priced right. Right on the highway so convenient. Parking lot gets full easily so you might need to park next door. Check in and check out were quick and easy. Mostly impressed with their breakfast selection. For a free breakfast, they go all out and offer everything you could imagine and everything tastes great. We were both impressed.

"Okay to stay"

brandonsN8292WL, Fruita, Colorado 30/09/2017

Hotel was fine, definitely nothing fancy, nothing more than a place to sleep... breakfast was not good, felt outdated. Tub didn't drain properly. Overall it was fine and was priced right for somewhere to stay when on business

"Good room, good customer service, would stay again"

Live4VacationTrips, Fort Collins, Colorado 23/09/2017

Our family stayed again at the Best Western Alpenglow Lodge for a night for a nearby high school bicycle race. We were traveling with a pet and had had a good experience here the previous year, so chose this hotel again. We were not disappointed. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, coffee, and fruit selections - which were refreshed on a regular basis by the staff. Breakfast was excellent. The hot tub had a bit of foam in it the evening we used it. We did notice one small problem again - despite a sign stating no smoking near the rear door (see attached photo), the ash tray disposal for smokers is immediately against the rear door. Perhaps for that reason every evening someone is there creating a huge cloud of smoke to walk through into the smoke-free hotel (it's even worse when it's raining or snowing - then that's the place to congregate, despite the sign). Perhaps management could move the cigarette disposal farther away from the rear door? We did notice a slight odor to the pet room, but did not mention this to management (smelled like carpet cleaner?). It wasn't a big deal. We would and definitely will stay here again. In 2017 there was a $10 pet fee -- be sure to get a free milkbone from the jar at the front desk. Very pet friendly!

"Close to everything"

chaddculton, Grand Junction, Colorado 21/09/2017

Smaller hotel but comfortable rooms decent breakfast. Friendly staff. Walking distance to great food. And walking trails. Next to a bike shop that rents out bikes for decent price. Great place to have a business trip of multible people.

"affordable and comfortable"

jacobsJ7740FY, colorado springs, United States 03/09/2017

We got a really good deal on the room, slept comfortably and had a nice breakfast. We also appreciated the staff and the hosts at the welcome desk. If we come back through Winter Park we will definitely stay here again

"Friendly and lovely place to stay in Winter Park"

6continentstodate, Bluffton, South Carolina 29/08/2017

We had a very nice one-night stay here after spending the day in Rocky Mountain National Park. Clean and comfortable, with very caring staff. I was thrilled to have gluten-free options available at breakfast.

"Excellent Service!"

52chaims, Winter Park, CO, United States 27/08/2017

Was very happy with the front desk service, room quality, and breakfast. Would definitely stay here again. The staff clearly wants its customers to be happy. When we arrived at the hotel we had one special request and it was fulfilled immediately and satisfactorily.

"Central Location"

KLBWylie_TX, Wylie, TX 25/08/2017

Good Basic Hotel. Clean and comfortable. Liked the location right in the middle of Winter Park. Variety of foods for breakfast. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Up on third floor, but street traffic. Next to restaurant and bar, so noisy if windows are open. And big spot light on all night. Does have a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Short drive to Frasier where there is a SafeWay. Small bathroom, but very nice shower. Hair dryer and shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Good heavy towels. Big screen TV with lots of stations. Very good cell phone service and free internet. In town, very nice visitor center to pick up trail maps. Nice coffee shops in town and good BBQ right across the street. Traveled late August and temps were 50-60 at night and 85 during the day. Be sure to bring and wear sun glasses and hat. Many, many activities to do.

"Ok, right along hwy"

LindaBBB, Perth, Australia 24/08/2017

Although this room is right on the main hwy, I was surprised at how quiet it was in the room. Also had an elevator to the upper floors. The breakfast was fine, nothing to write home about, but had hot options, as well as continental fare. Was within walking distance to restaurants and cafes.

"Good value, nice location, a bit noisy"

Dgholden, Castle Rock, Colorado 20/08/2017

We came for the Wine Festival and this hotel had the best location by far. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room clean and comfortable. Be ready for the door noise. Every time anyone closes their room door, it makes quite a sound. We would stay here again.

"Great hotel for the $$$"

suzanneh581, Lawrence, United States 17/08/2017

We stayed here over the summer for 3 nights for super cheap. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the staff was friendly, the hot tub was gigantic and lovely, and the breakfast was great. The AC in our room didn't work, but it was really a non-issue since the windows open and it was cool outside. The only other issue is that the walls seem a little thin, which didn't disturb me. I was more concerned with my children making too much noise for others. Overall a great stay!

"very friendly staff"

Steve B, Atlanta, United States 14/08/2017

nice hotel for the price and friendly staff. room are clean and fridge worked great. breakfast is more than adequate. have stayed here many times. Would recommend to anyone wanting a laid back place to stay.

"Clean and comfortable"

User 11/08/2017

Clean, comfortable room in a great location, close to good restaurants and to where the Winter Park Beer Festival is held yearly! We always stay here and are always happy with the value and comfort. Walking distance to a distillery, a few great restaurants and a skate park! Friendly staff and a decent breakfast all make this a great place to stay!

"Great service and a great place to stay"

WindwardGlass, Saint Mary's City, Maryland 11/08/2017

The modern amenities (lamps with outlets for charging phones, etc., microwave, mini-fridge, & GOOD coffee) and great service make this a wonderful spot to stay. The decor is a bit dated, but the breakfast, service, amenities, safety, and location more than make up for it. Great value, and walking distance to many good restaurants. Note: it is a bit hard to spot their sign with the trees nearby.

"Good stay!"

Kimberly F, Dryden, United States 09/08/2017

Hotel was clean and centrally located in town with many restaurant options within walking distance. Front desk staff was very friendly, had a positive attitude and us a great recommendation of where to go for dinner.

"Clean hotel in excellent location"

42melinda, Denver, United States 08/08/2017

We spent an extended weekend in Winter Park, mostly to enjoy the activities at the Winter Park Resort. This is a nice hotel, clean, comfortable, but not with as many amenities as other comparable hotels offer. Though there is a hot tub, there is not a swimming pool or fitness center. As a result, I found the price too high for what was offered, but I am a sucker for brand loyalty. The breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold items, and the employees worked tirelessly to keep everything well stocked. It was great to be within walking distance to Hideaway Park and all of the other nice finds on Main Street. If the price is right, we would stay here again.

"OK for one night"

Resque, Carefree, Az 08/08/2017

The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is on the main drag. There is not a covered area for unloading bags in the rain. Noise is not bad if the windows are closed. Otherwise road and rail road noise are noticeable. The walls are thin. The place is clean. The room was small. There was no desk. There was a very small table with two chairs; no electric outlet nearby. The mattress was good. There was a selection of pillows. The closet was an armoir. The price at about $120 for a standard king seems fair for the location and season, but no pool, no business center, no fitness center and the whirlpool is in a separate building. The internet is slow; 6.9 Mbps download speed. The breakfast room is in the lobby right at the front door. The breakfast has what you expect except boiled eggs. They did have tortillas, shredded cheese and salsa for building burritos. Yogurt is on the bottom shelf of a refrigerator about 9 inches from the floor making it difficult to select and retrieve the desired flavor.

"Lovey location"

209rexc, Council Bluffs, Iowa 07/08/2017

This hotel is in a beautiful location. It is a little overpriced for a Bestwestern. The overall hotel is well maintained and clean which is very important. The beds in my room were a little to soft when compared to some other hotels I stay at. For a quick stay this is a good hotel with a very nice staff.

jhetherton, Denver 01/08/2017

The property is old and the wifi didn't work but the staff was very friendly and helpful and we slept great! For the price, I would say this BW is a great value and we would definitely stay here again if we got the same rate.

"our only hotel we will stay at in Winter park"

sampsons2017, Holton, United States 31/07/2017

great staff! We had a small water leak into our room and it was nothing the hotel could have done to prevent it. the leak was stoped and we were given a discount and extra points for our stay went above & beyond to make our stay the best! we will only be staying at this hotel int winter park CO

"Summer fun with family"

ladavis58, Cheney 30/07/2017

Had a family summer vacation. This is a great location, with nice rooms. The beds a little hard but I like soft beds. The staff was friendly. Breakfast could have had more variety Would definitely return

"Central location and great staff"

leahmigala, argyle 21/07/2017

Being long-standing Best Western members, we chose the Apenglo as a base for hiking around the area. Every member of the staff was very personable and cared about making sure our stay was comfortable. Breakfast was the standard selection with waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and yogurt. There was also almond milk for those who don't want milk. The only complaint was the air conditioner was very loud and the thermostat was broken, requiring that we repeatedly rise from bed during the night to keep lowering the thermostat for the cooler to turn on--it would read 66 F while we were sweating. The hotel was centrally located and within walking distance of the entire town.

"nice stay"

_jcwood6, Avon, Connecticut 21/07/2017

Just spent one night here before heading to Rocky Mountain National Park. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming! Breakfast was typical of chain restaurants, but very good and quite a few options. We had PLENTY of towels and lovely toiletries that were complimentary. So many restaurants are located within a short walking distance as are fun gift shops.

"Great Stay!"

Terri W, Colorado 18/07/2017

Perfect location for the Winter Park Jazz Festival. Hotel is very clean. Breakfast was great. We are booked for next years Jazz Fest. We hope to book this hotel for years to come. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Winter Park.

"Close to everything"

Brad T, boulder, United States 17/07/2017

Great location for festivals, food, biking, running, hiking, skiing, bus access. Includes a good breakfast...6:30-9:30 AM! Indoor Jacuzzi with strong jets.Has been our go to base for the past few years for all those reasons

"Great Service and food"

387ambera, United States 10/07/2017

The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. They even went out of their way to ask if everything was going well and if they can do anything for us when they would see us later in the day. The breakfast had a great selection with a little bit of everything a person could want.

"Great staff and location"

Lori B, Lyons, Michigan, Usa 10/07/2017

We stayed for 1 night. The desk staff was wonderful. They recommended a great pizza place for dinner. Breakfast was good in the morning. The scenery was beautiful. The room was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

User 08/07/2017

This property was clean, quite, and comfortable; which is what I expect at a BW property. All hospitality companies should model their product after this property Great staff, great location and good value for your money. Highly recommend this location. you won't be disappointed

"Great staff"

nstarsfan, Saint Paul, Minnesota 07/07/2017

The staff were fabulous - all very friendly and helpful. The location is good, very central to shops and the main park in town where events are held. The ski resort is down the road a ways. The room ends up feeling a little cramped. The wifi is good but you may have difficulty working with the desk setup - no plug in nearby and low chair. A few other patrons choose to smoke pot in their rooms despite it being against the rules and the smell spread throughout the hallway. This seems common in the area and was a low point on an otherwise good stay.

"Nice Quick Trip"

494danyellec, denver, United States 05/07/2017

Very nice place, and good location. Our purpose was to be close to the YMCA, and this hotel was nice, and had good quick breakfast. Right in the middle of town so you are close to everything. The rooms were nice and beds were comfy. All staff we met were friendly.

"Very nice accommodations and very pleasant and helpful staff at reception."

photobug429, Kensington, Maryland 04/07/2017

Breakfast room was small, which seems to be common at most Best Westerns. One man hogged a table with his lap top while others were looking for a place to sit. Selection of items was good and the had skim milk. Coffee was very good. Bagel selection was also nice--there was more than just plain bagels.

"Great Location"

Hoggee, College Station, Texas 02/07/2017

After arriving late, check in went real smooth and quick. Check in guy (Travis) was very friendly. Comfortable beds and clean. Good breakfast and hot coffee. Very quite and got a good night sleep after driving 10 hours. Will stay here again.

"Great hotel!"

MCarlock, Richmond, VA 27/06/2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - friendly, comfortable, clean, quiet, WONDERFUL location, easy parking. We were in town for a festival and it was two blocks away. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable, complimentary breakfast was good - all in all a great experience!

"Great Location!"

B3793CImariam, Lakewood, United States 26/06/2017

This hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants and venues. Perfect place to stay for "Blues from the Top" The staff is very helpful and friendly! The Continental Breakfast is great! Will definitely be back!

"Breakfast room"

Janet H, Leeds, United Kingdom 21/06/2017

We arrived very late and only had the one night here but got a reasonable idea of the place. The guy on reception wasn't overly interested but it was around midnight when we got there. The strange thing was that the reception desk was located in the breakfast area. Not a big problem at midnight because it was empty, but the following morning the guests that are leaving are having to struggle with their luggage between the tables of the other guests who are still eating. Not ideal. Having said that, the rest was as you would expect. Clean room and a good breakfast, even though they were a little slow replenishing some of the breakfast items.

"Nice extra toubhes"

ovolacto, Colorado 19/06/2017

The best aspects of this hotel are the unexpected, nice, extra touches like the friendly, accommodating service. Also, you can get coffee, juice or fruit in the lobby any time of the day or night. It has a convenient location near the free shuttle, and very near a variety of dining options. The hotel itself is very average, and just what you would expect for the price. It is clean, neat, and well-kept, but not very fancy. It is very functional, and very suitable for families on a budget. I did, however, notice that the walls were very thin, and you kind of hear everything going on around you, which is okay since they have a noise curfew beginning at 10:00 p.m. When we were there, there were some annoying kids yelling and running down the hallways a couple of times, but I blame their parents for not teaching them better manners. Besides, it wasn't that terrible, and it didn't last too long. Kids need to know that they are in public, and that they need to behave differently than they do at home. All in all, I liked this place, and I would go back, but I don't think I would go out of my way to do so.

"The people who run this hotel rock!!!"

User 10/06/2017

When I stay at a hotel, the most important thing for me is the level of customer service. Bob, Tori and Kerry were awesome. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed during my stay. They were warm and friendly. The price was VERY reasonable!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Winter Park area

"Great stop for on a family trip!"

Katie L, Branson, Missouri, United States 25/05/2017

We made a last-minute reservation at Best Western Alpenglow Lodge while on the road for a family vacation with our 3 children under age 10. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were quite adequate and clean, and the breakfast exceeded our expectations! We loved the bright and cheery lobby/breakfast room. I wish we could have made time for the hot tub! Would definitely stay again if in the area.

"Work trip"

johnmcd2, Amarillo 28/04/2017

This is your normal Best Western it has not been renovated so it has a dated feel. The rooms and location are clean and well kept. Breakfast was hot and up to par for the buffet/quick breakfast. Rooms were clean and tiddy, no problem with this hotel at all. Great value for the $

"Thumbs Up for Location and Service"

Papa-Caps, Lipa City, Philippines 25/04/2017

I stayed here for 6 nights and I am definitely booking here again when I get the chance to visit Winter Park again. The location is at its best since it is in the middle of Downtown Winter Park. It is close to restaurants, rentals, convenience stores, Hideaway Park and Cooper Creek Mall. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel. I requested a wheelchair accessible room and I was given one at the 1st Floor which made it easy for me to move around. My room was so spacious with 2 queen-sized bed and spacious toilet and bathroom. I requested for a bathroom chair and it was brought immediately in my room. The daily breakfast is superb with choices of cereals, bread, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt, and fruits. There were also hot chocolate, coffee, and fruit juices to choose from. But what made my stay more enjoyable was the warm accommodation of Bob and Carol and the rest of the staff who were so friendly and helpful. Bob even assisted me in calling for the ADA shuttle since I was using a mobility scooter.

"Great value for location, convenience and service"

User 05/04/2017

This Best Western in Winter Park is an all around very good value for Winter Park visitors. Conveniently located close to the middle of town, has the bus stop right in front of it for taking to Winter Park/Mary Jane, and really good restaurants within walking distance. (See Hernandos for great pizza) I didn't use my vehicle for the two days that I stayed there. The place is up to date, clean, and the breakfast is really good; providing Waffles, Doughnuts, Eggs and Bacon/Sausage as well as yogurt and fruit. Just the level of comfort that I needed. I liked the beds too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I suggest treating them really nice too because they have to deal with many pretentious and high maintenance out-of-state tourists, which is too bad. There are "Ugly Americans" Visiting Winter park. These local folk are not your average Best Western Hotel staff.

"Gets the job done"

hikermikeCO, Denver, CO 30/03/2017

The location is great for downtown Winter Park. Even after dark and in the winter we were able to easily walk to dinner and get back to the hotel problem free. The hotel is obviously not a 4 star resort but the rooms were quite (aside from kids running up and down the hallway) and the breakfast filled everyone up (the coffee was actually very good!). Will definitely stay here again especially to avoid the morning drive from Denver.

"Great location!"

ksrookie, Lincoln, Kansas 24/03/2017

Easy to book reservations, helpful staff, convenient location to restaurants, ski rental, bus routes to and from skiing. We have stayed here before because of these attribules. Will probably stay here again!

"A little dated but clean with friendly staff"

Eosphotog, Austin, Texas 22/03/2017

We were looking for a decent place to stay in Winter Park that offered a good value and worked well with our family of four. This hotel is fairly basic if not slightly dated, but has been well maintained. It was clean and the staff was all very friendly. No fitness room or pool (but there is a hot tub which seemed popular). Breakfast was pretty average though seating is limited and we had problems with people camping out and not releasing tables to those of us waiting. This hotel met our expectations and needs, and we'd consider staying here again.

"great location."

Hortensia R, Winter Park, Colorado 14/03/2017

The hotel has a great location. There are many restaurants and stores near by. The hotel service is nice and helpful. The lobby is small and the it did' have enough space for the people. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable.

"Nice people"

kellybJ2029TT, Westminster, United States 27/11/2016

Very nice staff , beds were very comfortable , location was perfect . The breakfast was very good , The only problem we had was with the heater in the room . it was noisy and did not work well, I am sure they would have taken care of it if I had asked them ,

"Very Good"

Ronald R, Greeley, Colorado 20/11/2016

This hotel exceeds expectations. I usually try to get a handicap room because of some balance problems. The grab bars in the shower are quite helpful to me. I tried to ask for such when I made my reservations on the BW website. But in the special requests section, it was impossible to make any special requests. NO ENTRY WAS POSSIBLE. When I checked in, I asked if there was a handicap room available. I was told by the desk clerk that my request had already been noted and my reservations were for a handicap room. The desk clerk told me that there was an entry on the hotel reservation system to book me in a handicap room. NICE GOING!!

"Great Location, NO Soundproofing"

Hope S, Aurora, Colorado, United States 26/10/2016

This is a great location, but the rate is ridiculous for what you get and the fact that there is ZERO soundproofing. You can literally hear everything in this hotel. If someone sneezes in the room next to you, you hear it. I know Winter Park is a hip, trendy place to visit, but I just can't justify paying the price we paid given just how much we heard throughout our stay.

"nice little hotel"

dgomez14, Colorado 25/10/2016

so i only stayed here one day for work but i liked it. the hotel room was nice and clean. the bathroom was also nice and clean, i liked the little toiletries too. the bed was so comfortable, loved that it was king size and came with SIX pillows. thats usually unheard of lol. kind of sucks that the laundry is not actually a part of the hotel but i didn't mind the 5 minute walk, it was nice. sad that i didn't get to try the breakfast tho. overall, great hotel that i wouldn't mind staying at again.

User 10/10/2016

A better than average Best Western lodging. Front staff was very helpful in helping us find our jeep ride outfit that we were booked for but couldn't find . Rooms very clean with a typical continental breakfast but not far was a breakfast house. Would stay there agin.

"above average"

Linda R, Mt. Pleasant, United States 25/09/2016

Very nice place to stay-would want to stay here again. Larger than average room, large refrigerator and microwave, clean, comfortable and quiet. Easy drive to restaurants and Rocky Mountain National Park.

"Good place in Winter Park for those traveling with dogs"

Live4VacationTrips, Fort Collins, Colorado 24/09/2016

We stayed at this Best Western for one night for a special local event. The rates were high for what we were getting (a two star hotel), but this is Winter Park after all. The rooms were acceptable and clean. They included in-room coffee (as usual, not that great), a fridge, and a microwave. Important to us, the WiFi in the hotel worked well - strong signal and plenty of bandwidth. We had one small problem with the bathroom which the front desk addressed in under a minute. I wasn't expecting much, but thought that the breakfast was surprisingly good for this type of hotel. Better than I expected. The coffee with breakfast was very good (when was the last time that happened?). The front area of the hotel is set aside for breakfast. Driving by it almost looks like a small restaurant at the front. The size of this was nice - no small over-crowded room to have breakfast in! Another nice surprise in the morning. The hot tub was hot and clean, located inside of a small, outdoor building behind the hotel. Our room was quiet. We all slept well. I was surprised by an extra $10 pet fee for our dog, but if you dig it is stated on their web site (just getting a pet friendly room didn't mean there's no additional charge). We did, however, accept a milkbone treat for our dog. All things considered, we will certainly consider staying here again the next time we're in Winter Park.

"Nice place"

jesse58, Colorado 24/09/2016

Spent a night while visiting the area . Staff was nice , room clean , bed a little uncomfortable but we had hiked a lot that day so it could be that . Breakfast was normal not exciting . Will stay again if in the area .

"Nice place in the mountains"

Richard H, Racine, United States 23/09/2016

You have many options to stay along this stretch, but you will get great value here. Clean room, nice staff, decent breakfast. They have a hot tub but no pool, so people with kids please advise. They are located in an easy location, within walking to many shops and food.

"Adequate; dog friendly"

delia1953, Hope, Arkansas 19/09/2016

Better than average chain motel experience. Room was clean & without odors. Bed good??firm mattress; decent linens. It was quiet; so much so that we slept through breakfast, which ends @ 9:30. But, the server was nice & allowed me to get a few pastries that were still out when I showed up 10 minutes late. They have dog treats available at the front desk for your fur baby.

"Petj-friendly motel"

YonderMountain, Arizona 16/09/2016

We chose to stay here because this hotel allows dogs for a $10 pet fee. The price of the room for one night was also reasonable. From the outside the hotel appears a little shabby, but it's very nice inside. There is an inside corridor. The rooms are spacious. We had two queen beds that were comfortable. Hair dryer, refrigerator, flat-screen TV, all available. I think there was a microwave, but am not sure. The room was clean and mostly quiet. However, in the morning we could hear footsteps above us. A full breakfast was available in the lobby, including a waffle maker for fresh waffles. Check -in was efficient and courteous, but the receptionist could have been a little friendlier. The biggest negative is parking. When we returned after dinner, we had to park in the business next door as all the parking spots were filled.

"Had what we needed"

JacMcFar, Pinole, CA 15/09/2016

First, we drove right by the Best Western, as we did not recognize the new Logo. It's on the northern side of the town. We had a two-bed room. Comfortable beds, and everything else in the room was fine as well. B'fast was the typical fare - waffles, some fruit, also OK. We'd booked for two nights, but needed to change that to one - no problem, as we gave them 24 hours. Friendly and gracious management.

"Okay hotel in a great location"

Ciahasher, Houston, Texas 06/09/2016

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Lots of restaurants, shops, and bars within walking distance. Next door is a place where you can rent mountain bikes. One thing to beware of is that this hotel is dog friendly so there are lots of rooms with dogs in them. One night I felt like I was at a dog convention. Also, if you have a ground floor room, you will hear lots of noise (foot traffic) from the overhead room. Not much sound insulation.. This place serves breakfast but it is pretty average. Scrambled eggs, bacon bits, oatmeal, yogurt.. Staff was friendly. I would say it is probably the best hotel in the area in terms of quality but you can find cheaper hotels nearby.

"Excellent service!"

tinal1641, Janesville, Wisconsin 31/08/2016

We stayed here for one night before a wedding. The personnel were great to our daughter who was traveling with a one year old. The allowed her to use a freezer for some breast milk she needed to keep cold. Also the food at breakfast was wonderful.

"Great hotel"

Cynthia S, Redfield, Arkansas 31/08/2016

They had very quiet and comfortable beds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good with lots of options including almond milk and a variety of teas. Would definitely recommend. Good location.

"Good hotel"

Ronald R, Greeley, Colorado 30/08/2016

I've stayed here several times over the past several years. Always clean, pleasant staff and a good, hot breakfast. I had a special request for a handicap room and the desk clerk called me about 4 pm saying that he had just seen my request and was changing my room. Handicap rooms were not on the website, or at least I didn't see them.

"Great location, average property"

Debby R, Colorado Springs, Colorado 30/08/2016

The location was fabulous! Centrally located on the main strip of town. The hotel itself is very average, with outdated décor, and very thin walls and ceilings. Our group had traveled for several hours and we were having a beverage and visiting, and got a call from the people above us to ask us to be quiet. We should have been able to visit without disturbing anyone else. The price for the room was a bit much for the type of property it was, but I guess we paid for location. I wish they would have continued breakfast a bit later, since it was the weekend, and none of us really wanted to be up and dressed by 9AM

"Quiet, Comfortable Beds, and a Great Breakfast!"

turboshop, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 29/08/2016

This is a great little find in Winter Park. The staff was nice, check-in was easy, nice comfortable beds -- simply no hassle. Add to that a nice breakfast and a very affordable price. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Would highly recommend !"

Sherryl H, Sun City, United States 27/08/2016

It was a Great hotel in the heart of town. All of the amenities are included. they had the best hot chocolate available 24/7! The staff was great, customer oriented and very helpful. Would highly recommend!

"Great stay"

MissTravelista19, Denver, Colorado 23/08/2016

Awesome breakfast that varied slightly from one day to the next. The staff was very friendly, even the ladies cleaning the room said hi as you passed them in the hallway. Front desk staff was able to give recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Room was very clean and beds and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and shower had good water temp and pressure. Hot tub was large enough to seat 6-8 people comfortably, and could fit more, if necessary. Every part of the hotel was well maintained, clean, and free of bad smells. THIS HOTEL HAS AIR CONDITIONING!!! AC is not so common in hotels/resorts in the mountains, but this one had a well running air conditioner that wasn't too loud. Close by and free parking was well appreciated. I would definitely stay here again.

"Vacation stay"

Leslie K, Ulysses KS, United States 17/08/2016

This was a very good hotel experience. The staff went out of their way to help us with our needs. We were a larger group and I just want to say thank you. We will stay here again. The rooms are well equipped and were very clean. The breakfast was good and had a nice variety.

"Quality Stay"

Gerardo M, Houston, United States 15/08/2016

Selected this hotel based on reviews and the reviews were spot on. No regrets choosing this hotel. Would stay here again. Only minor issue is that the walls were thin and you could hear all conversations in the hallway outside your room.

"Very pleasant property"

Steve B, Atlanta, United States 15/08/2016

very nice property to relax and slow down. Central location allows walking to most restaurants and many retail spots. Rooms are clean and location is quiet when it needs to be. Breakfast is more than adequate.

"Really good place"

Nona G, Boulder, Colorado 11/08/2016

This Best Western is well situated to the town of Winter Park. The room was very nice, the bed really wonderful. When I asked for an extra blanket, I got one immediately. The lobby is small and the breakfast is served there, and that worked OK. The breakfast food was presented nicely, and was of good hotel quality. My overall experience is a resounding thumbs up.

"Average room, good breakfast, & great customer service"

Jacquelyn B, Raleigh, North Carolina 11/08/2016

My friends and I stayed here just 1 night because it was the closest, affordable room near RMNP. It was definitely way more than I would usually pay for this type of room (two queen beds and definitely not updated in a while), but it was 4th of July weekend and last minute, so I didn't have much of choice. The room was clean, the beds comfy, and the shower ran hot even though it made a funny noise. Breakfast was good and free. They had a good selection of hot and cold items that seemed fresh. There was limited parking, so make sure wherever you have to park is not going to be towed because a few other establishments share the parking lot. We just doubled checked with the hotel staff and that was that. The staff were very friendly, and we had no problem checking in late (after 8pm). They even saved us some money because the receptionist noticed we only had 3 instead of 4 people. That reduced our rate just a bit. Can't say I'm a huge fan of charging for more than 2 people especially since we were there for less than 12 hours, but that just seems to be the way things are going, unfortunately. The same lady helped us with a few things the next morning as well, so for customer service, this place was great! Average on everything else.

"Nice room, good free breakfast"

Mike L, Saint Charles, Illinois 10/08/2016

I was here fo four nights. My room was comfortable and I suspect recently updated. Like other hotels in this category the room was small, but I had a microwave and small fridge and a flat panel tv that worked well. My experience was that the place was pretty quiet, and the staff was cordial and welcoming. The free breakfast was good, though seating was not adequate. Parking is also tight. I'd stay here again.

"Great service, but noisy"

flamtapgt, Cary, North Carolina 07/08/2016

We had a nice stay here. We stayed in a larger room with 2 queen murphy beds and a sofabed. The room was nice with extra space, but the room was right next to the office and right across from the ice machine so it was very noisy. The breakfast was okay, we appreciated that they had 3 waffle machines, so there were no lines waiting to make waffles. We didn't use the hot tub but it was stuck in a shed at the back of the hotel no nice views of scenery or anything.

"Clean, good breakfast, friendly staff"

KEC1958, Denver, Colorado 06/08/2016

We spent one night here and had a great experience. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and kept nice. Nothing fancy, but we were comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was the usual continental breakfast fare, but there were plenty of tables, a nice sunny room and food was well supplied.

"A stay for work"

amyhaas, Cody, Wyoming 05/08/2016

This hotel is in a great location and pet friendly! The service upon check in and departure was fast and friendly. The breakfast was satisfying. The staff were friendly to my pet and made us feel welcome. Other pet friendly hotels have been less friendly.

"Great for access if you use a wheelchair"

wheelsrus, Hampshire, England 04/08/2016

Really good access and location for the town of Winter Park. On the route of the shuttle bus in winter time. Good size rooms with clean furnishings. The breakfast is basic but worth having but a mini supermarket is close.

"Over priced"

Tammy S, Randolph, United States 03/08/2016

We have stayed at many Best Western locations and this was not near as nice as others. We were charged extra for a mountain view (which we asked for) we were very disappointed. We expected more for the extra charge. It wasn't much of a view to be charged extra for. The room was clean, but the bathroom was in an odd location and way too many mirrors in there! The breakfast area was odd as well, it was located IN the lobby. People were walking through from checking out while we were eating, odd. The food was good a nice variety.

"quick overnight"

Jennifer S, Morrison, United States 02/08/2016

This Best Western provided a nice quick getaway even if it was a bit expensive. However, this hotel came in under cost for other hotel options in the area. Location was great right in heart of Winter Park and all staff was very friendly. Breakfast offered many options, but I would have liked more fresh fruit choices. Hotel was clean. Although we did not bring our dog, this is a pet friendly hotel. Love those. Complete with doggie treats at the front desk.

"BEST stay this year!"

Sue H, Beatrice, Nebraska 01/08/2016

Great location within walking distance of everything we needed when not on excursions, extremely friendly and helpful staff at check-in during stay and at check-out, best complimentary breakfast yet this year, relaxing family vacation!

"Nice place to stay"

Chuck S, Colorado Springs, Colorado 21/07/2016

I found the Alpenglo Lodge to be up to the standards I would expect from a Best Western Hotel. It was neat and clean and quiet. The folks at the front desk when I checked in were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good for what I expect. My only thought was that it may be about time to replace beds? I thought it felt hard and "lumpy", but not awful. I would go back to this place.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for a nice review Chuck and we are pleased we "hit the mark". Our beds are actually quite new, but it's always hard to please everyone on something that is so user specific. Regardless, we shall keep a watchful eye out for when replacement is needed. Take care!

"Jazz Festival Fun"

Gregory F, Calumet City 20/07/2016

This is a nice hotel that is centrally located to most attractions in Winterpark, Colorado. It is clean and comfortable and service is decent. WiFi is somewhat slow and there is only 1 ice machine on the property. Breakfast is good. Microwaves available in eating area. You need to use these to heat things as there are no microwaves(or refrigerators) in the rooms. I really like this hotel because it is easy walking distance to Jazz Festival venue.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Really happy you liked our property and service. To clarify, it is only our "Standard" rooms that don't have a microwave/refrigerator combination unit. That item is available in all other room types. We've found some folks would prefer to skip some of the "extras" and get a better rate on the room, which is why we do that. Sorry the wi-fi was a little slow. We actually have triple the band width than our brand standards require - - - yet when the hotel is full as it was during Jazz fest and everyone is on their devices - - - it can be a little slow. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

"Great location"

Brad T, boulder, United States 18/07/2016

Great 2 night stay within walking distance to most offerings in Winter Park for us. Enjoyed the fact that the windows in the rooms open to enjoy the mountain night breezes and breakfast was a nice bonus. We were pleased and booked for next year!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Glad you had a good visit! Of course you don't have to wait a full year until you come see us again - - - but if that's your only option - - - we're happy to welcome you back then!

"Quiet, clean, pet friendly"

Linda R, Arvada, Colorado 17/07/2016

I was a little uncertain about this hotel because they have designated pet friendly rooms that apparently hadn't been updated along with the rest of the motel...however, the room was still very nice and clean, although somewhat small for three adults and a child. The bathroom is dinky! Not much room for your toiletries, but there were towel bars and a small glass shelf next to the vanity/sink. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking area is pretty small...although you can park towards the back of the motel and enter through the back door, not sure how good that would be in the winter. There was a fridge in the room, no microwave, and a fairly large good flat screen tv. The breakfast area is basically part of the lobby and you enter through there from the parking lot...a little awkward, especially with a dog. The breakfast was well stocked and had the average sausage, eggs, cereals and three waffle makers. The arrangement of the serving area was a little tight, especially around the waffle makers when people hang there and don't move! Many restaurants and shops are within walking distance from the motel. All in all we would definitely return, great value for the price.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for such a thorough review and noting the value our property offers. There are physical limitations we are unable to do much about, but we work hard to make an impact in areas where we can. Please note the pet friendly rooms have a soft goods package different from other rooms (more conducive to our furry friends), but are similarly "updated". Come see us when the snow is flying and investigate how the back entrance works during inclement weather (just fine). See you next trip!

"South of Rocky MT Park"

Steve C, Toledo, Washington 09/07/2016

We were coming from the south and continuing north but wanted to travel through the Rocky MT Park, and this Best Western in Winter Park was perfect. Nice clean and comfortable. With lots of options for food close by. We tried the BBQ place right across the street and it was really good! Good breakfast with eggs and waffles. Nothing really to complain about here. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Winter Park.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for the compliments and glad there was "nothing to complain about". Indeed, my favorite reviews are those that are complaint free! You were smart to spend a night with us before heading to Rocky Mountain National Park, especially this time of year!

"Good but far from perfection"

Edoardo M, Trecate, Italy 09/07/2016

Small and smart hotel in the town Center of Winter Park, close to shopping and restaurants. Spent here two nights in a king room where everything was looked after with precision. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was perfectly clean, with high quality towels and complimentary items. Breakfast goes directly in the lobby, with good coffee and juices, fine toast bread and yogurt. unfortunately staff was not so smart in renewing food and pancake mix, even after many requests of clients. there was no people with a uniform so it was impossible to identify staff members, that spent time playing at the computer instead of working at breakfast and clean the tables. So we had to do all by ourselves and wait a lot for toast bread and other food. Needs improvement.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
While I am thankful there were many good parts of your stay - - - your experience at breakfast is completely unacceptable and I very much appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Please know that the individual identified as "playing at the computer" has been reprimanded and will no longer be working that shift. While all staff should wear a uniform, there was one of our members who "stopped by" and upon seeing what you were experiencing, actually "pitched in" although not on the clock (a credit to her caring attitude). We work hard to make things pleasant but obviously missed the mark here. You should see a significant improvement if you were to come see us again.

"Decent but not updated"

TDTX, Arlington, Texas 04/07/2016

I went with my family and enjoyed my time. The location is terrific since it is in the middle of town. The rooms were nice but the hotel looked dated. I would first look at the Holiday Inn(if the rates are the same, I would stay at the Holiday Inn). My room never fully locked. The door would look shut but was not actually closed. I did tell two different employees. I was not upset it was not fixed while I was there since the hotel felt safe. I am sure it will be fixed in the near future. Despite the fact the hotel looked dated, I would come back again.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and would come back again. We have addressed the maintenance item you mentioned and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. The comment about "updated" can be rather subjective, as we try hard to maintain the "feel" of our alpine environment. If you were looking for "any airport hotel USA", that is certainly not us. I would submit that we are constantly working on hotel projects in an attempt to add to our guest's enjoyment, having just completed a renovation of our public areas in the last 9 months. There are other options in Winter Park, but none that offer the value and location of our property (in my humble opinion).

"Very nice!"

CMS8402, Grand Junction, Colorado 30/06/2016

Staff is very friendly and the hotel is nice. This is good hotel to stay out when you are visiting Winter Park. It is close to downtown but yet far enough away that you do get disturbed by its traffic (people). I would of gave it 5 stars but the walls are kind of thin and I could hear almost everything that was going on above, in the rooms next to me and out in the hallway.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Our central downtown location is indeed a key reason so many folks choose to stay with us - - - as we're just a block away from Hideaway Park where the summer concerts and events are held. Thanks again!

"Uncomfortable in Winter Park, CO"

Michael L, South Elgin, United States 29/06/2016

Felt uncomfortable the minute we walked into hotel. Booked room and got room right above lobby. Easy to go to breakfast but husband slept and I did not. Breakfast fine but felt like we were being watched. Caused me to put raw pancake bater on finished waffles and decaf coffee into my oatmeal. Ate both anyways and left right after breakfast. Next Best Western we stayed at in Louisvlle, Co rolled out the red carpet for us and made up for this bad experience. Overall I would not go to Winter Park, Co unless I rented a condo.

"Worth coming back for...."

Todd S, Poncha Springs, United States 28/06/2016

Good Folks and professional staff, clean rooms and updated rooms. Very nice stay and worthy coming back anytime!!! Breakfast was hot and fresh, and constantly being refreshed for their customers. Beautiful location and will come back again!!!

"OK, but not great"

M0US5E, The Netherlands 23/06/2016

We spend two nights here. Our room was very clean but not that big. No microwave and/or fridge in the room. Breakfast is not very good, not much to choose from and besides that, they were out of waffle dough. I think there are nicer places out there in Winter Park. But prices are good, you get what you pay for.

"Fantastic stay"

Jenni C, Alma, Georgia 22/06/2016

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the winter park area. This was my first stay with a best western hotel before and I was a bit apprehensive about it. But I was throughly impressed. Our room was very clean and in a great area. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning.

"Great Experience"

Sharon J, Cumming, United States 22/06/2016

This was a great deal for the price. Rooms were spacious and provided a refrigerator and breakfast included. It is centrally located and very clean. Staff were all very friendly and I would definitely stay there again.

"Very enjoyable and excellent free breakfast!"

Jessica S, Redwood City, United States 22/06/2016

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are decent and very clean, the staff is friendly and the price is great. The best part was the free breakfast. They offer a great variety. I had a plate full of delicious eggs, bacon, self-made waffle, and yogurt every morning!

"pleasure trip for a wedding"

P C, Omaha, Nebraska 20/06/2016

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well maintained. Would stay here again. Our stay was short, but location was easy to navigate from and was on the main highway through town.

"Not the most welcoming"

G-manBE, Ghent, Belgium 15/06/2016

The hotel suffices for an overnight stay. The room was clean, with all basic amenities. Reception was a bit cold though and some staff even gave a hostile vibe, same for some people hanging around the hotel. Parking is a bit limited. Nevertheless, for one night this is no issue. I would not recommend the breakfast, have a strong coffee further down the road.

"Wonderful Stay!"

User 07/06/2016

The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. The whole place was very clean and beautiful. Recommend staying at this hotel! Easy parking and very central to downtown.

"Friendly good accomodation"

Dave U, West Malling, United Kingdom 06/06/2016

My wife & I stayed here on our way into Rocky Mountain NP. This was convenient, comfortable and welcoming. As with most BW hotels, a breakfast is included and this set us up for the day. Rooms & beds are both a good size and ensured a good sleep. Front desk was great - the padlock on my wife's suitcase had broken - but locked - some tools were found and I managed to get the lock off; they also provided a good recommendation for dinner.

"Good Choice, right downtown"

User 02/05/2016

New feeling rooms. Equipped with mini fridge and microwave. Located right downtown, easy walk to several different restaurants. The hotels complimentary breakfast was good, self-make waffles, eggs, sausage, breads, yogurts and cereal. The evening and morning desk staff was very friendly and helpful. You can easily catch the ski shuttle to the resort. Just a few steps. Hot tub could use some work.

"Best Western Alpenglo - Great Value!"

Pw O, Erie 02/05/2016

We stayed at this hotel on 4/30 and really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, clean rooms and lobby area, good Internet speed, and it's in a great location. Overall - very good value.

"good choice for Winter Park"

Jack S, Cheyenne, Wyoming 20/04/2016

We have stayed here a couple of times, and it is our favorite hotel in town. Updated rooms, excellent beds, diverse free breakfast, friendly staff, and right across the street from the ski bus stop (and very close to a number of restaurants). The price is all over the place, so it pays to check frequently. Only negative thing is the walls are not very soundproof.

"Great Value"

User 15/04/2016

Local family told us this is the best place to stay -- the location was perfect for skiing at WinterPark (only 5 mins away) and equally perfect for apres-ski activities in town and visiting family. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful beyond measure. Our room was clean and spacious enough for our needs. Breakfast was good enough to fuel us through the day. Overall, it was a great value across the board and we'll stay there again when we go back.

"very comfortable"

Ted O, Mammoth Lakes, California 09/04/2016

nice hotel wish they would upgrade the hut tub room.. Cant say enough about the staff all good people..the location is great .. Everything is walkable and to get the resort the shuttle system is very workable

Scott H, Lawrence, United States 01/04/2016

Family like atmosphere and great service for modest size Hotel - parking could be a challenge but they seem to work it our and the adjacent property is owned by the Hotel family so all was good! Great views to the South and easy walking to many other activities. Look forward to going back in June 2016 as well. Twice a year every year would be great!

"Ideal for a Ski Trip - Location and Value"

Rich O, South Queensferry, United Kingdom 31/03/2016

Stayed here with a party of wheelchair users, some of which had greater needs than I, so stayed in a standard room rather than an accessible one. Beds where comfy, more than enough room to manoeuvre around the room in my wheelchair, bathroom was fit for purpose, staff where friendly and helpful. Great place to rest the achey bones after a day on the slopes! The free hot chocolate in the lobby and the hot tub where great touches.

"Practical and clean."

DanisaSuarez, Colorado Springs, Colorado 27/03/2016

We have received very good service by the staff. The hotel is old and bare essentials. You can hear other guests walking by. We had a nice view. Pricey for a 3 star place. Very decent breakfast. Parking is a challenge.

"Great Winter Time Value"

Brandon W, Gainesville, Florida, Usa 13/03/2016

This is an older Best Western, but it seems to have had a recent remodel. The rooms were very nice with very comfortable beds. The furniture was updated and the bathroom was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and the lobby was clean. The breakfast was above average. I would certainly stay here again.

"Just perfect"

IvannaGF, Buenos Aires, Argentina 12/03/2016

The hotel is perfectly located, you can walk to restaurants and shops, they are all around. The room is fantastic, comfortable bed, full bathroom, everything very clean and neat. Breakfast was very complete, a good start for a skiing day. Staff was helpful. Parking and wifi are free, as well as breakfast. I would go back and recommend this hotel. Oh! The hot tub was awesome!!!

"Winter Park"

GalavantingJeff, Ottawa, Ontario 07/03/2016

Spend one night (1 Mar) only to snowboard Winter Park the next day. Flight delayed, finally arriving Denver 8PM with a late check in. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was clean and comfortable, very nice room for the price but dated. Internet incl. Rentals next door with 20% off was awesome. Breakfast variety was great. Winter Park shuttle right across the street worked well. Stayed here last Feb 2015, returned for their great service.

"Great place for $."

cavayakBoulder, Boulder 27/02/2016

Spotless, well-maintained room. Friendly staff. Well-stocked breakfast (except for eggs - watery and probably powdered?). Only issue was hot tub closed for repairs. Great place for $. Great low budget weekend. Skate skied at Devil's Thumb. Dinner at Opa's Gyros.

"Great stay, great value"

Daniel F, Columbia, United States 21/02/2016

From check in to check out, staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, very nice room for the price. Having ski rental next door was very convenient. Breakfast variety was excellent. Winter Park shuttle across the street worked well. Free internet was a bonus.

"Comfortable and Convenient"

Christine K, Chicago, Illinois 15/02/2016

We stayed here for our ski trip at Winter Park. It was very close to the resort. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not gourmet but allowed us to have a hearty breakfast before skiing all day. The heater in the room was quiet and efficient despite it being below zero outside. We rented our equipment from the place right next door and ate dinner across the street. All considered it was a good price for a nice, clean and conveniently located hotel.

"All you need for a short stay"

FeW, Boulder, Co 13/02/2016

First of all, I think a lot of reviews start out on the negative aspects, my take on this motel, is that its excellent for a stay of few nights, If this is your "dream" vacation, look elsewhere. Pros. ..spotlessly clean, great beds, great showers, and probably the best motel breakfast ever, Coffee was good, and overall selection and quality was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful.. Shuttle to Winter Park ski area, stops across the street, and is probably better than paying for parking at the ski area as the walk to lifts can be a pain.. You can transfer from the bus when you get to the resort area, to the Blue Willycab (also free) which takes you to about 40 yds from the main lifts. The only negative of the motel, as that the walls are a bit thin and sound travels.. but it didn't bother me at all.

",ski trip"

Launa M, Taft,ca, United States 10/02/2016

had a great time staying at this Hotel. was in great location and very clean quiet and cozy.was a friendly staff and helpful for information. had a free breakfast that was nice to enjoy if you wanted too, would recommend staying there if you want a home kinda feeling.was very comfortable.

"Good Inexpensive Stay - shuttle ride away from skiing. Bit noisy..."

JeffSeattleArea, Seattle Area 08/02/2016

Good value for money, pet friendly, family friendly - lots of skiers. Breakfast included and is actually not bad. Walls are thin so when kids run down hall in ski boots,it's very noticeable, particularly when parents yell at them at 7 am. However, staff and guests friendly and generally helpful. Shuttle stop right next door and across street to Winter Park, centrally located, 15 minutes most by shuttle to base. Walk-able to good restaurants, reasonably close to Foundry Pizza Cinema. I'd definitely stay again but probably bring my ear plugs for early family skiers!

MimiR2055, Chicago, Illinois 08/02/2016

It's a clean, basic hotel. Hot tub lukewarm and in a weird offsite room with a snow covered path outside. Food was two star breakfast. Room was okay. Cleaning staff is good. Front desk staff was helpful, pleasant. Decent value. I wouldn't be rushing back... Will probably go to a condo next time. Nice size fridge and a microwave. Heater a little temperamental but it's an old hotel. Get what you pay for.

"Quality stay for good price"

Olivia A, denver, United States 08/02/2016

For the price and location you cannot beat it. The free breakfast is better than most continental I've experienced. Location is right in the heart of Winter Park and there is plenty of restaurants and activities right outside the door.

"No Sleep!"

GoldenJudy, Denver 03/02/2016

TA has never steered me wrong but this one is a total miss. Everything about this motel is outdated and marginally average. The bed and linens were adequate and the room was clean. they offered me express check out when I arrived, but it was not available at check out! After a full day of skiing, all I wanted was a good night's sleep. Impossible! The heater keep clicking and turning on with a roaring blast every 45 minutes. I even tried ear plugs. I tried turning it low, still keep cycling off and on. It would not turn off completely. Unless you sleep like the dead, I would warn you to stay somewhere else. Definitely a disappointing 2 night stay. I paid $124 for each night. Usually I stay at the Winter Park Lodge (same price range) which at least has a heating system which allows you to sleep through the night.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We are collectively sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I find this review troubling for two reasons - - - 1) We are never satisfied when a guest has a poor stay such as you expressed here. A member of my staff has already contacted you directly in our attempt to "make it right". 2) You identified the issue with the heater and we had our maintenance engineer address it. If that was not completed in a satisfactory manner, you should have let us know - - - otherwise, how can we get it corrected? If we couldn't fix it, we would have gladly relocated you to another room. As for the express check-out piece, there unfortunately was a misunderstanding here. When offered and accepted at check-in, the options are to receive an emailed receipt or one under your door. If this was presented properly by our front desk, there would be no need for you to stop by the front the day of check-out, although some guests still prefer to check out in person, which is fine. Thanks for the opportunity you've provided for a "learning moment" with our front desk staff. Take care!

"Very nice accommodations"

Janie B, Denver, Colorado 31/01/2016

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the Best Western. The rooms were very nice. The beds were comfortable. The bed linens were cozy. We were on the second floor so there was some noise from the people above us. There is a nice breakfast served in the lobby each morning. The only small disappointment was that the hot tub was in a small building outside the motel. I was hoping it would be inside because it is a bit chilly going back into the motel in the middle of winter!

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Your kind words are very much appreciated! True, the hot tub is in its own building just steps outside the back door - - - due to a unique building code requirement - - - but many hot tubs in Colorado (especially in resort areas) are entirely outside. So, the trek from the tub to the building through the elements is not that unique. I simply suggest you get plenty "warm" before making the quick dash to your room - - - you won't even notice the outside temp. Hope to see you again soon!

"Good Enough"

Christian D, Colorado Springs, United States 30/01/2016

There was nothing to complain about, but there was nothing that was outstanding either. For a ski town, the price per night was ok, but the property felt a bit dated and run down for the price. Overall, it was clean and the experience was not bad. It served its purpose.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Thanks for your review, but being "good enough" is not "good enough" for us. I would absolutely challenge the "run down" comment, but consider the source. I would ask the reader to check out some other reviews for the accuracy of this statement. Glad we at least "served our purpose".

"Nice Value, Friendly Staff"

Michael K, McFarland, Wisconsin 27/01/2016

We usually get a condo to ski at Winter Park, but decided to try the Best Western for value and to get points. The hotel is very well maintained hotel, if not understated. The staff was well informed, helpful, and VERY friendly. We originally booked a King Bed room, but upon arrival they suggested we move to a different floor with 2 queen beds because of carpet replacement, not a big deal. However, being it just me and my wife and ski gear the King Bed would have been better. The only real complaint I would have is they don't provide a very good place to store your ski gear. We ended up storing our gear near the door in the coat rack, but felt bad about storing the boots on the new carpeting.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
We appreciate your comments and understanding during our recent renovations. Don't feel bad about putting your boots on the carpet - - - that's what it's for - - - but certainly am thankful for the sentiment. The coat rack you mention is actually a ski rack, so that's indeed the place to store the gear. So happy we could help you earn some "points" in our Rewards program. Please come back so you can earn some more points (or maybe use some and have a free stay)!

"Clean rooms, great location, poor service"

ShakaZuluKaya, Colorado Springs, Colorado 25/01/2016

The front desk does not go out of their way for friendliness or great service. We struggled to get the luggage cart in the main entrance only to see that had we used the doors on the other side, it would have been much easier. Was sent to wrong room (it happens, but lots of stuff like this happened to us on this stay). Two housekeepers watched as I struggled with the doors upon departure with the luggage cart and garbage bags piled up by the doors as they attended to their duties. Lots of hallway noise in the middle of the night. Beds, okay. Great location, near where we wanted to go. Refrigerator in room makes a LOUD buzzing noise sporadically through the night - ugh. We won't be back.

BW-Alpenglo-Owner, Owner at BEST WESTERN Alpenglo Lodge, responded to this review
Darn - - - looks like we missed the mark on your stay. For that, please accept my sincere apologies. The comment about trash blocking your access was addressed that very same day (unacceptable), but unfortunately not until you were inconvenienced by its occurrence. Knowing who was on staff that day, the housekeepers were international students from the Southern hemisphere that come to work during their "summer" break. Not an excuse, but they are new to hospitality and exactly what it means to take that extra step for our guests. That said, we are truly a "limited service" hotel and don't have the manpower to assist with everyone's luggage like a Marriott (or we'd have to charge rates like one). Sorry you won't be back but hope the reader can see past these somewhat "unique" complaints and come try us out.

"leisure skiing"

Bob at the front desk was a lifesaver.....overall it was a satisfactory stay, breakfast was fine, other guests smoking marijuana was horrid, but staff seemed to take care of it. Bed was comfy, room was clean, locationwas handy, obviously one of the nicer places to stay, besides the swanky resorts right on the slope.

"Convienent and Clean "

User 17/01/2016

Close to down town and shuttle to mountain located right across the street. Hot tub was cleaned twice during our 4 night stay. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful with restraint recommendations. Allowed to check in early in the morning and given breakfast at no cost. Excellent hospitality.

"Very convenient and average ski crash pad"

Jeffrey S, Barcelona, Spain 16/01/2016

The ski shuttle picks up on the :15 and :45 right across the street. It takes exactly 15 minutes to get to the Winter Park base. Couldn't drive there faster, even pay parking. The hotel has your standard generic breakfast of pastries, cereal, coffee, juice, pre-formed omelettes and sausage, waffles. You've definitely had this breakfast before. But it will get you out the door quick. Rooms decent, very comfortable beds, reasonably quiet, and nice staff.

"Great value and hospitality"

Bob M, Centennial, United States 15/01/2016

During our repeated stays at this property, we have always encountered cordial staff that provide all guests with a great room value in a hospitable manner. The rooms are very clean and have a fresh decor. The location of the property is very convenient to nearby restaurants, a local bus route and assorted mountainous activities.

"Great hotel with very good staff"

Kobe1111, Douglasville, Georgia 13/01/2016

This hotel works great for skiing! Staff is friendly and efficient. Room, check in and breakfast area were very clean. Beds were comfortable and warm. Staff was friendly. Hot tub was working and relaxing. Staff did a great job with continental breakfast. They kept fresh food out and drink machines filled.

"Perfect for a ski weekend at Winter Park"

r0gerthealien3, Dallas, Texas 11/01/2016

My wife and I stayed here for three nights for a ski weekend. This hotel was perfect for us. The location couldn't have been better. We rented skis from the store right next door, and the bus stop was right across the street from the hotel. Take the bus to go skiing. It's super easy and you won't have to mess with paying to park at the mountain. The hotel is in the middle of town so you can walk to any dinner place. We walked to Hernandos and had amazing pizza and beer one night and then went to the some other local places the next night. The breakfast in the morning was good, pretty average for hotels. Nothing fancy, but it was free so thats good. The hot tub was also really nice after skiing. It's in a separate building in the back and could definitely be hotter, but it was still nice to relax in. The room was good. Average for a Best Western, but the beds were very comfy and there was plenty of room for all our ski gear and clothes. I'd recommend this place for those looking for a place to stay for a ski weekend in town.

Bryce M, Mount Carmel, United States 04/01/2016

Great location. Clean and very friendly staff. Option of late check out at no extra charge and complimentary breakfast was great. Free shuttle to mountain and pick-up drop-off was right outside hotel.

"Wonderful experience at this hotel!"

Shanna M, Dallas, Texas 24/12/2015

I really have no complaints. We stayed December 20-24. I guess it depends on what side of the hotel you're on, but we had a view of mountains. Yes, there was a business right next door, but that's really nothing to complain about. I can't imagine the other side having a bad view. For the people who bring shower shoes (I am one of those), I didn't feel the need to wear them. The bathroom was very clean and the water drained quickly. The room was very nice and clean. It has a microwave and refrigerator, which was very helpful. The front desk staff were super awesome, as well! Bob was great! Oh- the continental breakfast was very good! Waffles, eggs, sausage or bacon, cereal, oatmeal, organic yogurt w/ toppings, and several varieties of milk - for the lactose free people. As you can see, we would highly recommend this hotel!

"Very nice and simple hotel"

User 21/12/2015

From check in to overnight stay this is a very well kept hotel. The staff is so friendly and accommodating that you would think your at a 5star diamond resort. Rooms and beds are comfortable. They except dogs but only a limited amount of rooms. Love the no smoking policy.

"decent hotel, fair price"

Good location, have few decent restaurants around the hotel... the breakfast was ok. The carpet was old, but the bed and bathroom was clean. Limited parking space. free shuttle stops right across street from the hotel.

"You Won;t Be Dissatified With This Hotel"

KathleenGrandLake_CO, Grand Lake, CO 12/12/2015

We were having carpeting put down in our house 45 minutes away from Winter Park and needed a place to stay for a night. We chose Winter Park as it is a great place to visit! I went on line and found the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge. Everything was GREAT! The room was small, #306, but very nicely decorated, and had everything you needed! It was VERY clean and comfortable! The bed, King size, was VERY comfortable and we slept very well! The breakfast in the morning was the nicest we've ever had at a Best Western. You couldn't leave breakfast hungry! We would stay there again if we were in Winter Park! The staff was Excellent!

"Great Stay"

Nice and cozy, quiet, close to everything for shopping and dining to match any budget. Free breakfest, can't be any closer to the free WP shuttle, has that mountain/rustic feel to it. Highly recommend and will stay again next time up in Winter Park. Friendly staff, clean rooms.

"Leighs Review"

Wonderful place, friendly staff and we will be staying here again. Bob went out of his way to accomodate us for early check in and also give us another room than reserved to allow us to possibly stay another night and not have to change rooms, which we did just that. The hot tub is wonderful. The location is perfect as the bus picks you up right across the street to take you to Winter Park every 30 minutes

"Perfect accomodation for our ski trip"

Ulrich G, Detroit, United States 30/11/2015

We are very happy with our stay at the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub after skiing each night. The breakfast spread was better than usual also (Greek joghurt, almond milk, great coffee). The hotel is very close to the Base Village of Winterpark. You can even take the bus which stops right across the street. We also enjoyed dinners in walking distance from the hotel. We will totally stay here again when we come to Winterpark next!

"An excellent stay"

User 25/10/2015

We picked the hotel to allow us an early start into the RMNP and it was a really good pick. Reception was excellent and although the hotel is dated and rather old fashioned, the rooms were clean provided a pleasant place to stay - so much so that we decided to make use of facilities and eat in. Excellent value for money

"Great budget for getaway"

This hotel is very clean, and great breakfast served. Located in town, with excellent location. Close to numerous restaurants and shopping. This hotel has excellent front desk staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Get away"

Boomomaniac, Denver, Colorado 19/10/2015

Very clean, and good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Quiet. In town, good location. Very nice staff at front desk. TV by one bed, so I could watch TV comfortably while hubby slept. Breakfast good for those who are gluten free. Good options.

"Winter Park getaway"

Lori J, Evans, United States 19/10/2015

This in-town hotel rates well except for parking. It is close to several restaurants, shopping, entertainment. The doggie area is small but serves its purpose. The hot tub is in a separate building so you freeze getting back to the hotel on chilly days/nights. Our second day the breakfast bar had run out of milk and yogurt. When pastries and bread were gone they did not replenish. The coffee was instant with an aftertaste. But we went there for sleeping, not eating.

"Great budget option in Winter Park!"

NoKidsNoWorries, Austin, Texas 16/10/2015

We normally like to stay at bed & breakfasts or boutique hotels and the like, but this Best Western is hard to beat. The front desk staff was wonderful, breakfast good, and location is perfect. Great place to stay in Winter Park. Close to the tubing and the resort. Walking distance from lots of restaurants. Hot tub a bit small, but nice after a long day of skiing. Will definitely stay here again.

"Best Western Winter Park"

Awesome hotel in Winter Park. Great location in town, staff is excellent, breakfast great, room superb, and check-in top-notch. A must if staying in the area or passing through. A Best Western on top of their game.

"Very clean Hotel with nice rooms and friendly staff"

Dee R, Prior Lake, Minnesota, Usa 15/10/2015

This was our 2nd time staying here. I spent hours looking at all the other options in the area and after reading all the bad reviews about how run down and outdated every other place was we picked this hotel again and glad we did. Plus they accept pets which is an issue we have. Their breakfast is perfect and offers lots of items!

"Winter park stay"

Friendly staff along with clean and comfortable room. We were passing through on our way to Steamboat Springs. This was only a one night stay and when we arrived the young lady at the desk was very personable which is a big plus for us. The rooms were not spacious but were clean, comfortable and everything was in working order. We would definitely stay here again

It was a great location, Very clean rooms, quiet (even though there was a was a bus touring the fall color.) Wonderful breakfast. Great staff! Don't pass up this hotel!

"Clean and Comfortable with good Breakfast"

Bonnie P, Litchfield, OH, United States 01/10/2015

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I did not hear any outside sounds to keep me from sleeping. The breakfast had a good selection, and was very good. Staff kept it well stocked. The front desk was very helpful.

"Best Western, Alpenglo Lodge, Winter Park, CO"

Well situated on main street. Clean. Only major shortcoming was lack of suitable breakfast entries for my traveling companion who was visiting from the Middle East and is a Muslim. No eggs, but pork sausage.

"Expected more from Best Western"

Tom W, Montana City, Montana 21/09/2015

After our previous experience with Best Western, we expected more. We had to take a two queen room instead of a room with one bed. The room was small and not very well laid out. It was difficult for two people to move around without running into each other, I don't see how 4 people could manage. We could hear other guests coming and going, noise carried easily from the hallway to our room, as was the traffic noise from the restaurants and bar next door. Breakfast was just OK, the selection was very limited.

"Comfortable & Affordable"

Lindsay S, Hillsboro, Wisconsin 20/09/2015

Excellent customer service, comfortable room & lots a nearby shops, restaurants & activities. The welcoming staff at the front desk was excellent & had great tips for places to eat. Everything was handled professionally & quickly. Our room was comfortable & clean.

This hotel provides an excellent value for the cost. It is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is ample and tasty. Staff are pleasant. The room was a little small, but sufficient. The sink/mirror was with the toilet and shower (as opposed to being separated by a door), so not as accessible with 4 in a room, getting ready to attend a wedding.
