I spent an extra $50 to stay here instead of the place next door, for the pool and it was closed. They didn't offer anything for my inconvenience. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. I won't be staying here again due to poor customer service and terrible sleeping.
This motel is the worst that I have ever stayed at. We were there for an overnight stay. When we walked in the room it smelled musty. The fridge didn't get our beverages cold. The bathroom was small. The decor needs a lot of updates. It definitely is not worth the money to stay here. Overpriced for very little. Very disappointed 😞
Cute and quaint hotel. Great breakfast and clean hotel. Beds were cozy and the blackout curtains did the trick to help us sleep in. We would come back again for sure! Looks like there is a fenced area for dogs if you are travelling with your pet. Subway, pita place and Harvey's in the same parking lot within walking distance.
The hotel is dirty and only one staff member was friendly. I had to go back to the front desk to get a second key as it is their practice to only provide one, which wasn't met with a smile and they refused to give us one more caffeinated coffee pod for the room so we could both have a coffee in the morning without having to go downstairs to the lobby. Breakfast was ok. They seem to be trying to cut costs very drastically and not being very helpful when this guest asked for something they didn't want to provide. The outside gardens are not taken care of so it's starting to look shabby. The common floors, elevator and stairs are intermittently swept but that leaves the spills, and stubborn dirt to accumulate.
We stayed one night on our way to Montreal. The outside of the hotel is questionable. It doesn't look like a BWP, but an off brand, local inn. Inside, the lobby was clean and our room was clean but needed some attention. We had two queen beds. One of the beds, closest to the window had a metal bar sticking out at least 6 inches beyond the mattress. My husband hit it every time he got in and out of bed. There were shampoo and shower gel dispensers on the wall of the shower, but the shampoo was empty. Shower gel is not the best thing to use on your hair. The breakfast had choices of "make an omelet, make a waffle, 4 kinds of cold cereal, a few kinds of bread for toast, 3 kinds of juice, and a coffee bar. What we always want is yogurt, and they hadn't received their shipment. Too bad an employee couldn't have stopped at a grocery store and picked up a few cartons. They were not busy at all, so they wouldn't have needed much. Unfortunately, the price was over $200.00 Canadian dollars for one night.
Constant bad odor in the common areas (sewers). Change of mattres long overdue, highly unconfortable, with springs hurting. Personnel does not know the city and does not know where King Street is, the main commercial artery. Cannot recommend places to eat out. Does not seem to care. Cannot qualify as a BW « Plus ». A farce!
We just stayed a night for a wedding in the area. Very impressed with the hotel. Large room, great staff, easy to park and restaurants were across the parking lot. Breakfast was included and we were blown away with the selection including omelettes and eggs made to order. Nice selection of choices including gluten free and almond milk. Best hotel breakfast we have ever had. Hotel was clean and quiet and front desk was so helpful and accommodated our request for an early check in. Very impressed 😊
Everything at the hotel was adequate. Best perk for me was a fenced in courtyard for my dogs. They could go out there off leash to do their business. Breakfast could have had a greater variety. Hotel finisings look dated, and could use upgrades.
Clean, beautiful property. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are cool and comfortable. Fridge and Microwave are very handy and useful. Internet works fine on all devices....Phone, Laptop, and Tablet.
needed a hotel at the last minute and this one worked well excellent breakfast - close to the 407 and 401
I arrived tired, late in the evening and all I wanted to do was sleep. In the morning I I found that I was unable to have a shower because I was unable to activate the water. I asked three other people to try to get the shower going and they were unable to do so. There was a 1 inch screw protruding from the metal plate, which divided the bedroom from the hallway Resulting in a foot injury. The room had a kitchenette and should have been fully equipped. There was no cutlery in the room. I was very discouraged to find that I could not speak to anybody more senior than the receptionist who happened to be on the desk when I raised the issues. I was told that the manager could not be contacted for the next four days since it was a long this was subsequently extended for another week. Nobody attempted to contact me from the hotel. I did contact Customer Service at best Western and was told that I should contact the hotel directly and expect a response from them thus far I have not received any response. In summary, the room was substandard. And there was no manager to deal with the issues.
From check in to check out and everything in between this hotel was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We had a U13 Female hockey team for 3 nights. The breakfast was great! At night we were able to use the chairs and table in the lobby for the adults to hang out! 10/10 experience! I would highly recommend~!
I would not stay here again. Room was not cleanist. Curtains would not shut properly,so we had the wonderful street lights shining in all night, plus the curtains were very dirty. Bed spread was very worn. No selection for movies to watch or channels.
It was easy to book our room over the phone for a pet friendly room. Check-in and check-out was easy, the staff were friendly, rooms could have used a bit more cleaning detail. Breakfast had a good selection
We rented the jacuzzi suite for one night, and we will not be back. The tub is actively leaking, but they put some sort of plaster over the leak. This means when the tub turns on, the leak makes the plaster leak into the bath water turning it grey. The tub was dirty with little black hairs. The doors and walls looked like coffee has been splattered on the walls for the last 3 years. The toilet had brown on the lid…. Breakfast had a lot of selection but at pour quality. It was croissants and mini muffins from Walmart. Nothing special and very stale. But still, the selection was great to suit different preferences! There was NO water for the rooms. We had to purchase bottles from the vending machine for $2.00. The bed was comfy!!! I wasn't expecting anything fabulous for Bowmanville, but for $300 for one night I was dissatisfied to say the least. I didn't bother reporting my issues to front desk, because it's clear as day this is the normal standard for this hotel. I just got through the night and now know to never return.
Staff are courteous and will be helpful as possible with whatever you need accommodated with. The pool there is well maintained and is left at the perfect temperature, so it's not too cold when getting in.
clean and quiet hotel, staff are friendly and helpful. Stayed for 2 nights and without asking our room was cmeaned and fresh towel brought in after our first night. Breakfast included had enough options for everyojne to find something.
Having a Pet friendly environment, an area to eat with my fur family! Customer Service is friendly and very helpful! Breakfast was well set up and delicious! Swimming pool was a great temperature for my family.
Stayed here for one night before a business meeting the next day. The room was extremely noisy from traffic noise starting at about 4:30. Curtains did not keep the sunlight out. This made for a poor sleep. Breakfast in the morning was not good. At 08:30 the eggs were gone and the person in charge would not make more. She said breakfast was over at 09:00 and we should have come earlier. There was still 30 minutes left in their posted hours for breakfast. A number of people were affected.
The TV didn't work the first night. When I spoke to the desk, they told me they couldn't help me. They should have offered me another room. On top of that the clock did not work. When I took a shower the drain was plugged so that I had 2 inches of water in the bottom and was afraid it was going to overflow. Also, the shower door would not close tightly enough. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly either! I was told they fixed the shower drain, and they did not do that. We spent over $700 for 4 nights, and we only did that because we were in the process of moving. We will not be staying at a Best Western again if that's the type of service that they're going to provide.
Hi my friends I spent two nights in the Bowmanville best Western plus hotel and it was out of this world one of the best trips best place best Service best Food best Internet that I've ever experienced I started with room 418 which was amazing as a king bed shower was to die for then I went to room 229 this room has a Jacuzzi my friends it was absolutely amazing I recommend very highly for you to try this room it has an amazing shower amazing Jacuzzi and everything else that you need unfortunate only one room in the hotel so if you're going to book you better book soon but I tell you I recommend very highly this hotel I've stayed here numerous times I've never been disappointed and I am I intend to name all the people that were involved! As always y'all have a marvellous day! Paul CONWAY a.k.a. Mr.Marvellouss!
I love this hotel, I stay here at least once a month! This time was fluke, I was in Oshawa and a storm was coming, being I stayed here before in 2020, when we sold our house, it was a no brainer! I called Cassandra answered they had one room left, one bedroom suite, with kitchen! To be honest didn't care, I just was happy to get a room. You might ask why I drove back to Bowmanville inside of Oshawa or Whitby because I travel all over Canada and USA and I only try to stay at the Best Western or the best western plus, first of all the rewards program they offer is second to none! When me twins were 10 years old I took the family on a trip to Newfoundland from Oshawa Ontario! My friends the Best Western and the Best Western plus treated my family like gold! There Corporate rate is amazing! Now back to Bowmanville, I checked in with Cassandra, she was polite, courteous and knowledgeable! A must in a hotel in my opinion! I go to my room, I sent my wifi( simply amazing, quick as a snap) I notice I left my top of charger at the office. Now my computer, my phones and my GS1020 are my life, they were dying from excessive use! I called Cassandra, she actually brought me a piece of a charger she had, my friends this is customer service, she saved my bacon because the internet my business could not survive on! My GS1020 by Rogers is amazing but it needs to be charged Hince my comments on Cassandra, she didn't know me from Tim buck to but treated me like family! Then she leaves and Amy comes to the rescue, I was starving after I woke up early, she told me about this breakfast! My God my friends, the food was Devine. I had a egg omelet that was made in front of me, the food actually melted in my mouth! Then I was working and eating at my lap top incidently if you need a good computer, me buddy at computer plus on Brock st in Whitby Ontario builds all my computers, the guy is amazing! Tell him Mr.Marvellouss sent you! Anyway back to Bowmanville, I was working so long, I forgot to put the sign on my door, Penny comes along, she was amazing, explained to me check out time, I apologized but she didn't get upset instead she said I'll do this room last, my friends I've never had a experience like this! Normally the hotels are pushing you out the doors! Now I'm a professional, when I get service like this I check to see who is responsible in managing a operation like this ! Dianne was the general manager I was told but the aberration they had for this lady was simply amazing! Like I said before in order for a machine to operate efficiently, you need a excellent manager! Dianne fits the bill and then some! Lastly I recommend The Best Western in Bowmanville at the highest regards! Business,Personal this place is top notch in my books! As Always Have A Marvellouss Day! Paul Conway Aka Mr Marvellouss! I forgot for a surprise I'm booking July 23 because we have to fly to Chicago, oh incidentally do you want to guess what chain of hotel I'm staying in!
We stayed here on our way home from Niagara Fall to NS. We had no hot water during our stay and no one seemed to want to fix it or offer us anything. The room was nice enough but the carpet made it smell a bit. We had a room towards the highway which was very noisy in the early morning.
My name is Paul Conway Aka Mr.Marvellous! I stayed at the best Western on July 6/2023. They had one room left, it was amazing separate king size bed, stove, fridge, microwave! The internet service is second to none! I got there about 7pm re the storm from Oshawa! Cassandra was the first person to serve me,she was polite, courteous and very knowledgeable! I went to my room, but it was different from before for going on Zoom! Well I didn't have the other part of my charger,so her fast thinking saved everything! She brought me a piece for my charger! When Cassandra went home, Amy came in, she was also very polite and courteous also! Then there was Penny she comes in my room because I forgot to let them know, that I wasn't leave till later, they were very understanding! Lastly Dianne, like always there is always some boss who comes in and doesn't like what's going on! But Dianne is a awesome manager, her people respect her and would do anything for her! My favorite feature is the shower! They have shower gels on the wall! What a blessing, Well that's it my friends, I'm off to Burlington! Remember when I give a review it's like taking it to the bank! I ask for no reward or or recon
Not a great room. Had to pre-pay for room, despite having a credit card on file. Clerk called up to the room, and woke us up. Shower door installed backwards, so had to step into shower to touch taps. Long narrow hallway inside room.
Our first stay 1 1/2 years ago was ok and we felt that for the price, the hotel offered good value. However, this time, our experience was terrible. We were charged $170 a night for a Friday and Saturday. Our 3rd night was approx. $103 (and that price was a stretch). There room was a king bed with one chair and a desk. I'm not sure who does their renovations, but at some point this room was 'patched' together as a wheel chair access room. Here is a list of what you'll get for $170. 1) heater/air conditioner plugged into a wall where the electrical box sticks out from the wall and the whole electrical box/receptacle moves in and out from the wall (does not look to comply with electrical code). 2) a mini fridge that didn't get cold no matter what setting you put it at. We ended up filling up the ice bucket and putting it in the fridge to cool it down, but it still spoil our food. 3). a small older flat screen that tilts to low and won't stay up (had to wedge it). 4). filthy carpet with what looked like pizza stains in it. 5). no open electrical outlets by the bed (wife uses a c-pap machine) 6). the cord for the bed lights when through the sheetrock and back out to use the bed receptacle...unsafe and I'm sure not to electrical code. 7). no tub, just an open shower (no shower curtain or full glass enclosure) so water sprays everywhere. 8). a VERY tiny wall mounted bathroom sink counter with open abs pipes underneath. No place to put much at all. 9). one desk seat...no other seating. 10). a clothes closet with no light in the vicinity (had to use a flashlight to see in the closet). 11). an automatic shutting door that did not fully shut properly...we had valuables in the room and didn't realize until further in our stay, so our room was open to anyone until we discovered this deficiency. 12). kids yelling and screaming playing soccer in the hallways (10 pm at night). And so on. We had a pet and were charged the standard $30 per night (for clean up). However, the room wasn't cleaned every day (also dog was yorkie that does not shed etc). Why were we charged every night when the room wasn't cleaned everyday and as mentioned, the carpet was filthy. Not exaggeration, I made sure I either had socks on or shoes for fear of catching some foot disease of some sort. If you're going to pay $170, move on...this dingy, dirty, small and "shoddy" electrical work made us feel some totally ripped off. The manager was dismissive and would do nothing for us despite my listing all the above and she would not tour the room with me so I could prove my point that this room was in no way worth $170 plus $30 pet fee.
I like staying here, it is a clean and nicely decorated hotel with a great full breakfast and the internet works well. The staff is very helpful too. The area is very convenient, just a 1 minute drive to the 401, but the hotel is quiet you don't really hear the traffic. Restaurants not too far away, a good location.
Being a senior I mistakenly booked room twice. Upon arrival reception did not mention both rooms. After I was charged for 2 rooms and I advised Best Western it was on error. They said too bad, policy is policy and would not refund me for second room. Which I find very poor customer service. Charlene Burrows
It seems like management is skimping anywhere it can, to the detriment of the overall experience. The exceptional staff really make the extra effort to help guests. Please look into getting at least average coffee and average shower flow.
We always stay at BW hotels, and this one does not do the brand justice. I do not recommend this location. Staff barely acknowledged us. Beds were very worn out. Outside lighting was not working. Overall cleanliness was poor.
The General Manager, Diana Reeves was an extreme displeasure to deal with. After an incident where she was insistent of yelling my room number and name in the middle of the main lobby - she disagreed this was a security concern, spoke in very rude and demeaning mannerisms and offered a check out as a resolution.
Hotel staff was the rudest ever experienced, mgmnt was even wore. NO hot water for 3 nite stay and BW MGMT made me feel it was my issue that i would not wait 2 hours of running hot tap fir hot water, which never happened, they refiused to cancel and refund remaining 2 nites as they said it wasy choice to stay here. Breakfast was stale. All on all horrible at.best!
Well I am definitely having issues with Best Western these days. This morning I have no hot water for a shower. Ran it for 10 min and only got lukewarm at best. Clerk at front desk rude. Had to go down to front desk after she hung up on me saying she'd have to call me back but not why she had to call me back. To add insult to injury, Last night the team of young female teenagers kept me awake until 1am. I have PD and thought a hot shower would help. Yeah not happening. Clerk told me to run shower for 20 min. Well I truly wish I had 20 min to run shower to get hot water. They just seem to lack empathy. Also no maintenance staff in at 7am to look at hot water issue. And oh yeah watch the milk at breakfast. The milk was sour. Their breakfast was extremely disorganized. No sugar out at all. Even brown sugar empty.
Breakfast was good. Pool was great and warm. The smell of cleaning products was pronounced throughout the area. Finally started to get controlled. Air conditioner was old and noisy. Access from 401 was good.
We were there for a baseball tournament and unexpectedly made the finals. The staff went above and beyond to wash a uniform for me and to extend our Sunday checkout to make our last day experience much easier and more enjoyable. We so appreciated the friendly and helpful service! Traveling with a team of teenaged boys, it was also very convenient to have the complementary breakfast, as well as so many quick and easy restaurant choices right across the parking lot after and between games.
This place was amazing! There is food around the hotel (across the parking lot) and you can quickly access popular areas and the highway from this location. The staff are pleasant and accommodating. Anyone who passed you smiled. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels and washcloths. The pool was clean and relaxing. I didn't use the gym but I peaked in and it was clean and organized. Noise levels were at a minimum. When I go back to this area, I'm definitely staying here!
Stayed here for 3 nights for work. Staff was very friendly, room was very clean. Areas of the room lacked lighting.. Breakfast items were quite plentiful and great variety.. Enjoyed the fresh cut watermelon every morning !! Made to order omelets were a plus, although they a commercial hot plate might be better to cook quicker,, the Omelet ladies were very friendly
This hotel offers quality amenities , it is thoroughly well maintained and clean. Well located at one minute from the 401 highway yet very quiet. Good exercise and pool. It has excellent wifi and is at one minute walk from numerous fast food restaurants or five minutes driving from shopping centre and many more restaurants.
$450 for a double queen suit we got it for $350 plus tax last minute booking and it was musty dirty and mold on lamp shades. My sister upstairs pd $280 for king rm and it was 10x cleaner and nicer. I had to get a different room it was so bad. We wont book here again! First room just grossed me out although second wasn't horrible
Pros: Front desk staff are very accommodating. Unfortanetly had to cancel one of our rooms at the last minute and they were very understanding. Were able to do so with out cost. In addition, although the bathrooms are small, loved that it came with a glass shower and the water pressure was good. Complimentary breakfast was way better than expected. Staff are there to make your eggs just the way you like it right in front of you. Could choose your toppings and they had two different waffle machines. Cons: Walls are very thin, could hear people talking and laughing through out the night and early hours of the morning which made for an awful night's sleep. Very dusty. We always choose to sanitize our room as an extra safety precaution and the wipes turned black from the dust filled surfaces. Rooms are very dark, badly in need of better lighting. Hotel in general badly in need of upgrading. Overall dark, outdated, not very inviting
Please improve the efficiency of the breakfast. Boil and scramble a bunch of eggs and have them ready rather than having a line up for omelets. Please keep the waffle batter filled up. It ran out every morning. Our baseball team of kids were looking forward to waffles. One person in the serving room is not enough. Do not ration the sausages!!!
We were extremely pleased with our stay at this hotel. From the helpful staff, convenient location, well appointed clean room, to the excellent breakfast provided, we have nothing but praise. Would definitely book again if we are in the area.
I stay here for work . It has breakfast , which is good convenient and delicious. An elevator 4 floors and lots of rooms . Staff are awesome helpful and remember returning customers. Close to the marina local shops and my job .
I had given a fairly good review but added a few suggestions about a sub par breakfast. After my husband dare ask for a third sausage the next day, 1 over there 2 per person max we were asked to leave the hotel. She also gave this same answer “leave if you don't like it” to other patrons complaining about two full days with no hot water during this stay. We did not even complain about that. She told me when I went to speak to her that she saw the previous review and knew we weren't happy here and should probably leave?? So seems like this was all a snit over my 4 instead of 5 star review!?!? This situation and her making me cry even managed to get my super friendly husband so angry he lost his cool when leaving and told her exactly how he felt about her and the whole crazy situation! I'm sure he said too much but after all she had put us through I can't even blame him. The staff here are doing the best they can, they were kind, apologetic and supportive during our ordeal. We met others in the hotel during our stay who were also very unhappy with the lack of customer compassion over the no hot water issue. I am a huge Best Western fan, just not this one and continue to be after the great support we have received from BW client relations.
hotel is clean and convenient. Parking lot is run down but once inside its nice. Breakfast area in nice, hot items have to be served which is a bit of an inconvenience, but young lady in that area is very nice. Rooms are clean.
We had a major leak we could not stay in our home, the location was prefect. Staff very nice and professional. We didn't use the amenities but the pool look wonderful. Would recommend especially if travelling with children.
We have stayed at many different “Plus” properties and have come to expect a certain standard. This location falls far short. All staff are very friendly but the hotel is very tired and rooms smell musty. Found hair in the sink and a bug on the curtains. So not impressed with cleaning standards. They tried to cover the musty smell with a highly perfumed room spray that was awful. Will not stay here again.
This hotel has the most friendly members of staff you can find, and am sure behind those masks are warm welcoming smiles. They are driven by customer service that seeks to ensure customer satisfaction at every opportunity, which makes it truly a home away from home.
We stay here when we need to stay in the area for medical reasons because we live far away from our family doctors. The pool is nice and the breakfast was very nice and very quick if your in a hurry. We will stay here again!
Very conveniently located ,right off the 401 and yet a quiet sleep . Nice fresh linen and a king size bed ,very comfortable . Breakfast was served from 6:30 -9 am and with the option of fresh eggs and toast ,coffee and fresh baked muffins ,my day was off to a good start ! Friendly staff that made me feel at “home” .
Room did not meet expectation of Best Western quality we have come to expect. Alright for a overnight stay. Busy area close to 401 and shopping. Fast food available without driving. Has a pool. Parking lot has good lighting. Pet friendly. Shower and bathtub needed cleaning. Employee training required.
You can tell that they tried with the nice glass shower doors, but the water that sits on the ledge never gets cleaned up so there's a buildup there that's kind of off putting on top of the smear of "what is that" on the wall. The room decor is overall quite dated. The curtains don't shut well so have fun getting a ray of light peeking through when the sun comes up. They also don't check anything and our neighbor was definitely smoking in their room and lighting incense to try and cover it. We also weren't told we needed proof of vaccinations to go in the pool until AFTER we booked (even when double checking with the hotel since that was specifically why we booked this one). I usually love Best Westerns, bur this one is not it.
Be careful of the ole "bait and switch" at this hotel. Rooms look great in the pictures - actually exactly what I was looking for. We checked in after a long day to find we had been put in what I can safely assume was a former closet that they converted to a guestroom. I felt like I was staying in a hostel. Room was about 9ft wide - just enough to shoehorn a bed into. TV put way off to the left side of the bed (only place it could fit) and no room for a permanent closet to they put a wardrobe in the room. Worst of all the large bright windows shown in their pictures were nowhere to be found. We had a small window at the top of the wall with a no view. Lack of a regular sized window only added to the amazing "hostel-like" feel. When I asked the front desk they were sold out but minutes later called to try to upgrade me to a suite for an added $80 bucks. Great business - convert a closet to a guestroom, then go in for the upsell when guest is not happy. One of the most disappointing hotel stays I have ever had - and I wasn't my bar was not set to high to begin with.
This location best western has friendly help full staff. The rooms are clean , even with covid happening . Just one small issue with the phone not working , but this was fixed real fast . Free parking on site .
I found the Best Western, Bowmanville, Ontario clean and tidy (as always) with the staff very accommodating and pleasant. Clean rooms and quick room cleaning when necessary. A very pleasant stay. I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
Was a great experience great service 10 stars would recommend to anyone. Fast check in fast checkout clean helpful quiet and very nice . I would absolutely come back I needed a few days to myself this was perfect.
I stay at this Hotel due to it being so close to my Mother's Retirement home. Normally pay anywhere from $84.00 - $120.00 per night at the most. Went to book on May 19th, 2021 and they wanted $300.00 per night. Love this Hotel but not worth $300.00 per night. Therefore had to book at the Holiday -In down the street.
Excellent amenities and service. Rooms are clean and fresh, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and always on hand to help. Right off the 401 for easy access, and restaurants are available nearby. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone.
Almost all the staff is friendly. We had issues with person who checked us in. To be honest we remain unsure if we'll use them again for a stay just because of how rude she was. Says a lot when everything but 1 thing was fantastic that it can effect how we move forward again.
I stayed at the Bowmanville location for 10 days. It was amazing, Dianna the manager was very professional and her staff Emma and Penny who cleaned my room performed way above expectations. My name is Mr.Marvellouss ( Paul Conway) Conway Enterprizes my company believes customer service is a asset. I love the Best Western
My room had a very dirty bathroom with dirt in all of the corners, flickering lightbulbs, crown moulding over top of other crown moulding instead of cut to size. Roughly plastered walls, exposed tapcon screws.
Stayed at this hotel because I have used Best Western and been happy in the past. We were just there for one night. 1 adult and and were happy with our stay. We had to reserve the pool, but at least we were able to use it as some hotels are still not allowing this. Due to Covid 19 we were only able to pick from a few items for breakfast, but again at least they still provide some kind of breakfast. Overall, satisfied with our stay.
Excellent value. Very friendly and welcoming staff at front desk. Express check-in and pre-registration were very effective. Excellent observance of all cleaning protocols due to COVID-19. This location is much closer to our destination and far more convenient. Excellent amenities nearby for dining.
Great location one hour from Toronto and few minutes from the port ,very clean ,the staff very kind, we stayed for one night .... the room was clean the ac was working perfectly highly recommended and
All the workers here were so friendly, patient, and helpful. The way the hotel responded to the Covid pandemic left me not having to worry about a thing while there. The hotel and room were spotless, social distancing was maintained, and the check in procedure was done from a distance. Breakfast was great, and we took it back up to our room on a tray. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Very pleasant experience, fast check-in, helpful staff, hotel was quiet due to covid 19 pandemic, but felt comfortable with the safety measures the hotel had in place. Hopefully we will return to this hotel after things return to normal for another pleasant experience.
From the time we walked in the door til we check-out, the staff at the Bowmanville location were extremely amazing, accommodating and absolutely helpful and friendly. Our room was home away from home and exceeded our expectations!
My husband and I stayed for 1 night at the Best Western while we were in town to celebrate his mother's birthday. The hotel was clean and welcoming, directly off the 401 highway and just minutes to downtown Bowmanville. The young man at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming that we immediately felt like we were coming home. Our room was cozy, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a bit older but has been updated to feel more modern. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was exceptional! I have benefitted from other complimentary breakfasts in the past, but none of them had a personal omelette station! The lady charged with running the station was so friendly and welcoming and prepared a custom omelette to order. There was a lot of variety in foods to enjoy and it was a pleasure to enjoy my breakfast by the fireplace while catching up on the daily news. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again next time we are in town.
Great place to stay hotel is close to 401 and ammenities. Shannon the front agent very knowledgeable and accommodating. Hotel was clean the kids love the pool and breakfast in the morning was fantastic.
The rate was a bit pricey per night, but the hotel was clean with great amenities. It was easy access to the 401 and good access to local shops/restaurants in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed here for 3 nights for a ringette tournament in Whitby. It was a quick drive to and from, we were the only team in the hotel (which was a nice change) and the staff were accomodating and friendly. They went out of their way to ensure our team was comfortable and had access to any and all amenitieis - even outside of scheduled times (ie: opened breakfast coffee and muffins early so that the team could grab some fuel before leaving at 6:30am for a game). Overall a great experience and if I am in the area again, I would recommned this hotel.
Had a great stay for a family Christmas Eve. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and cheerful. There were 15 of us and we never seemed to be a bother. The breakfast area was perfect for us to bring our crock pots and set up a buffet on Christmas Eve. We had space to play board games or just sit and chat. Christmas morning was even more special when we were offered a hot breakfast that included everything from omelets to bacon and eggs or waffles. Thank you to everyone for making our Christmas special.
Check in and out were seamless and done professionally. Elevator was nice to have and worked well. Room was neat and well appointed. Furniture was comfortable. Internet was easy to connect to, steady and fairly fast. Bathroom was clean and very functional. Lots of free parking available. Easy access to services and the nearby 401 highway. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We had been stuck on the 401 for 2 hours due to an accident. We booked at 7pm and arrived at 10pm. I was glad to get the room for 100$ on the night of booking it. It included a hot breakfast which started at 7am and we came down at 7 got food and were out the door by 715! Overall a last minute place to crash as we couldn't make the drive in 1 day due to delays. Was impressed.
After returning from a trip to Grand Cayman we needed a place to stay for the night as the drive home was too long. We found the Best Western Bowmanville for a great price and booked online with no problems. Check in was quick and courteous. Super comfy bed in well appointed room! Complimentary hot breakfast was great especially with the addition of the omelette station. This is our second time staying at this location and we will stay again if the need arises.
The hotel room and grounds were clean, but when me and my girlfriend went swimming in the indoor pool, the water was ice cold, green and looked it wasn't being filtered. Didn't say 2 min in the pool. Other than the pool everything else was great and had a pleasant stay!
Hotel was excellent. Staff friendly and provided all our needs. Let us check in early because of our daughters wedding. Location was great. Missed having bacon at breakfast. Hot Breakfast was not really hot but a microwave was accessible so it worked out. One of the best hotel we have been at.
Walls are paper thin so it's like your neighbours are right in your room with you! Hotel is super clean and staff is courteous and helpful. Breakfast is good too! Unfortunate about the noise, but at least it didn't go on all night.
We stayed her recently as part of a wedding block. The room was ready for early check-in without any hassle! The front desk staff were friendly and efficient! When we returned from the wedding the night auditor went above and beyond to ensure that our evening was great! This meant a great deal to us and to the Bride and Groom! Again the following day the front desk staff were so friendly and nice! The rooms are basic but comfortable, the staff however make the stay!! If you're in Bowmanville, or having a wedding in this area, stay here or have your wedding blocks here for sure!!!
Very clean, quiet and comfortable hotel in a convenient location. Front desk staff very friendly as well. No complaints, will use this one again. Dog friendly is a must for me, so appreciated the quiet spot I was given.
Hotel stay was very pleasant starting with the receptionist who went out of her way to check if there was a clean room for early check in. The room was nice and clean with no issues. Slept well on a very comfortable mattress/bed. The breakfast was really good with plenty of options to choose from. Highly recommend this hotel as it provides great service and value for the money.
Certainly first world problems but when you have set expectations it is disappointing when they are not met. I arrived at 11:00 pm after a long day and did not have a schedule for leaving in the morning other than check-out is 11:00 am. I was advised that breakfast would be served from 6 until 9 in the morning. All I was looking for was 8 hours of sleep, breakfast and I would be on my way. First the good things: the bed was comfortable, the curtains kept the room dark, the shower in the morning was hot and the water pressure was strong. Now the bad things: I found a fluorescent orange wrist band between the bed and side table in the morning. Definitely not mine but the colour made it hard to miss when I was awake. Apparently the breakfast buffet had been visited by a plague of locusts because there was nothing to eat but cereal when I arrived at 8:30. Not even bread for toast. The lone worker was completely overwhelmed and had trouble restocking juice and coffee let alone food.Yes, there was juice and coffee. Not decaf coffee but there was regular coffee. So, I went back up to my room to shave & shower and get on the road. That's when I discovered I had forgotten deodorant. But wait, there's a sign in the bathroom that says they have me covered if I forgot something. A check with the front desk and sadly they were all out of deodorant. I hope they were just having a bad day but maybe it's no coincidence that there is a breakfast and lunch restaurant that shares the parking lot with the hotel. Breakfast there was excellent. Note to Best Western if you are reading this review: This happened on the Monday morning of Labour Day weekend. I don't work in the service industry but surely your reservation information tells you how many of your guests are families traveling on a long weekend. Your reservation system might help predict how much food you will need, the staff you will need to prepare and present it and identify that the guests might eat a little later than business travelers. There were many upset, hungry people this morning.
We reserved a room for four people for a fishing trip on Lake Ontario. Person at the front desk greeted us as soon as we walked into the lobby, She took care of everything we needed and handed us our card keys. Room was very clean, we had TV and internet, extra towels for the shower. Complementary breakfast in the morning. Person at the front desk took good care of us upon leaving, Will recommend this place to my friends. J. Power and friends.
We arrived at the hotel to check in over an hour past check in time & were told they would "see if our room was ready" They had JUST mopped the floors, had we been 5 minutes sooner, our room would NOT have been ready. Judy was not the most pleasant. I said not to charge my credit card, I would pay by debit at check out. We were told that if we were paying by debit we had to pay right then We said we had never heard of such a thing. Judy said it is their policy. We were both surprised, as we have never encountered this.I said what if it was going on my credit card & Judy said it would go on at midnight. Since when do you get charged before check out?! After I paid, we were told "okay, you're all set" to which I replied "except we don't have any keys!" We got to our room to find garbage on the sink, a crumpled up cloth tossed to the back of the stove top & a toothpick on the bathroom floor. Several hours later, when we returned, the garbage, cloth & toothpick were gone. Judy tried to say "all the girls were gone by then" if the cleaning staff was gone, that means someone else was in our room! Another staff said the head of housekeeping usually goes in after to check if everything was done properly. I was doing online banking & discovered that they had my debit payment, AND they CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD! I called the hotel, & was told that it was "just a glitch, it's no big deal" &that it had been reversed right away (it showed as reversed the next day, AFTER I called to complain)
We arrived at the hotel to check in over an hour past check in time, and were told they would "see if our room was ready". They had JUST mopped the floors, so clearly, had we been 5 minutes sooner, our room would NOT have been ready. Judy was working that day - she was not the most pleasant. My daughter works for Best Western and had been given a discount, and had arranged it directly with the manager. I told Judy not to charge my credit card, as I would be paying by debit at check out in the morning. We were told that if we were paying by debit, we had to pay right then. My daughter and I both said we had never heard of such a thing. Judy said it is their policy. We were both surprised, as my daughter has worked at various hotels, and we have both stayed at various hotels and never encountered this. I then asked what if it was going on my credit card, and Judy said it would go on at midnight. Since when do you get charged before check out?! Then Judy told us that breakfast starts at 7 and "I don't know what time yours starts, but ours is 7" - no need for that snide remark! After I paid, we were told "okay, you're all set" to which I replied "except we don't have any keys!" We were not asked how many keys we needed. We got to our room to find garbage on the sink, a crumpled up cloth tossed to the back of the stove top and a toothpick on the bathroom floor. We left our belongings, and returned to the function that we were in town for. Several hours later, when we returned, the garbage, cloth and toothpick were gone. Since when is it acceptable for anyone to be in a guest room after the guest has checked in? We again spoke to Judy, who initially tried to say "all the girls were gone by then" Well clearly not, as they were just mopping our room when we arrived! And even still, if the cleaning staff was gone, that just means someone else was in our room!! Another staff member stated that the head of housekeeping usually goes in after the housekeeping staff to check if everything was done properly. On the Tuesday after our stay (we were there on a Saturday), I was doing online banking and discovered that they had not only taken my debit payment, but they had also CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD!!!! And, they charged me more than the rate we actually paid! Upon calling to discuss this with the hotel, my daughter was told that it was "just a glitch, it's no big deal" and that it had been reversed right away - well then why doesn't it show on my credit card as reversed?! There was one staff member we encountered who was very nice, her name was Cassie, however, this one person would not be enough to make us return to this hotel.
My husband and I were were on a random road trip and needed to stop for the night on our way home. Great location right off the highway. Staff were excellent. Clean comfortable rooms and the breakfast! OMG! It is to die for! Will definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Woke up in the middle of the night with 6 bedbugs in the bed. The staff was really nice and we were able to immediately change rooms. We also got reimbursed for that first night. Sadly we also saw a bedbug in the other room. Management told us those were carpet beetles - we were however covered by bite marks (including on my arm - as on picture) This is really too bad because this is overall a nice hotel. The staff is very nice and polite, beds were comfortable and breakfast was good.
Friendly, attentive staff. I would like to mention Debbie who was the front desk staff member who checked us in. She was efficient, courteous and friendly. As a matter of fact all the front desk/Kitchen staff need to be commended.
Excellent, they have a special rate for people using charters for fishing on Lake Ontario, which is in my opinion, a great collaboration between local businesses. The rooms are clean, but the air conditioning could be upgraded
Really decent price, clean and room in parking lot for trucks towing boats. Will stay there again. Very close to Lake Ontario and very quiet so one can get a few hours sleep. Recomend this place to fishermen.
Awesome location, just off the 401 but so well built you can't hear the traffic. Large clean rooms. Complimentary breakfast that was the best I have ever had in that category. They have a lovely person who will custom make you an omelet. It was excellent!!! Super nice staff.
The hotel is quite new and is very clean and comfortable. The price is very reasonable and includes a hot and cold breakfast buffet. The bathroom was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. would definitely stay there again.
We came to visit our adult granddaughter who is soon to marry, also meet the groom to be. We had a wonderful stay. The chance to visit with the three fine young people was a treasure we will hold dear. The hotel manager and staff were most kind and helpful. The room we got was perfect. Thank you to the staff of this hotel.
As with so many other positive reviews, this hotel is an easy recommendation. It is reasonably priced (senior rates) and includes an excellent breakfast menu. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Room amenities are of the highest quality. We stayed 3 nights this time with our dog. The breakfast area deserves a review of its own since the choice of items is beyond incredible. The best thing about the food area is SHARON, the caretaker and cook for the food. She was actually cooking omelettes with your choice of ingredients. Thank you thank you Sharon for making our stay even more enjoyable. One small negative comment is the fact that we had a dog-friendly room which is located on the main floor. Since we are seniors we usually use a cart to bring our bags to our room. There are steps down to the room which is not cart friendly. Thus numerous trips to the car carrying heavy (for us) bags.
The motel is very convenient to the 401, easy to get on and off the highway. We were on the third floor good elevators...there is a pool we wiould have made use of it but arrived late and were on our way right after breakfast. Individual omlettes were a buce breajfast treat,,
Had an excellent stay - fast and courteous check-in, comfortable room, working television and wifi, toilet, shower, etc., great breakfast, nice people, reasonably rate - would definitely stay there again.
We were in room 121 there was a parking spot very close to this room but in the grassy area you walk by to the door it was so disgusting covered with cigarette butts and dog messes. The room itself was nice (old but updated at some point) and pretty clean-2 beds in separate bedroom- living area with sofa bed, small table 2 chairs and handicapped accessible bathroom- kitchen area had sink, good sized fridge and a microwave the rooms had all laminate flooring and tile in bathroom. The pool area looked nice but the water in the pool was very cloudy and it was just too cold- I had read complaints on that here before in reviews and while management replies no effort has been made there- we could not use the pool it was just too cold and the next morning it was closed for cleaning. We did complain to the front desk person who said she would report it. We would not stay here again- the mess outside and the cold pool...we selected this hotel so we could have a swim guessing there is no working pool heater at all assume management will reply it is 80 degrees at that time like they have for other reviews most sites I read say ideal temp is 82-85 F and those few degrees make a big difference. There is free coffee in the lobby via a keurig. The breakfast was excellent- clean area well stocked- eggs, sausage potatoes and the usual toast, pastries etc. There was not enough seating though for all the guests. This hotel is a good location very close to the 401. Note for wheelchair users steps everywhere but our exterior door near room was accessible but to get into hotel itself to check in several steps.
Surprised by this place. It was clean, well run and friendly. The breakfast was terrific!!!!!! Staff were also quick to solve any issues. The bed was great really good rest. I was pretty happy as this was the first decent hotel we came across.
Hotel was super nice. Room great. Breakfast amazing. Pool was freezing to the point you could barely swim and my daughter cut her foot on something sharp on the pools stairs. Pool bottom felt gritty..
We stayed for the night on our way home from a long trip so for us the location close to 401 meant we could be on our way quickly in the morning. Very friendly and helpful staff, one of whom took the time to recommend somewhere to eat and then printed off the directions for us. Great breakfast with omelette bar.
Nice, clean, comfy hotel, only about 5 years since being completely rebuilt. Staff was nice, breakfast was good, convenient location. Some restaurants in the same parking lot too; Harvey's/Swiss Chalet, Subway, Pitas. Pool and facilities were ok too.
Very convenient to the 401. Great breakfast included an omelet station. All staff members were friendly, helpful and professional. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Would stay there again. Thank you.
From the staff being able to fulfill your every request to a clean room and a hearty breakfast, I had 0 complaints about staying here. In fact going forward when working in the area this will be my go to hotel for stays. So much so that i've already booked my next night here! Even their wifi was fast...and you don't get that at hotels...ever. Give it a shot if youre in the area and need a place for the night!
The hotel is easily found right by the 401. They have an indoor pool which is great for the kids. For breakfast they offerred an omelet bar which was a great surprise. The staff were very helpful in suggesting restaurants in the area.
Stayed at the Best Westwrn during a difficult time. Being there for a family funeral. The staff were great, sympathetic, helpful. We has a relaxing and restful time and it made the teip a bit easier. The rooms were clean and a decent size. Would recommend to anyone.
The hotel was fully booked. The front desk staff were quick to check people in to their rooms. They have a sheet of good nearby restaurants. The one we picked ended up not being there any more so were we disappointed when we drove and couldn't find it. We mentioned this to the front desk upon our return. The free breakfast was good and refilled often. The staff were efficient to clean up tables after guests left.
We had the 2 Queen kitchenette. The room was such a nice surprise. Walk into the living room, kinda small kitchenette off to the side. Down a few steps to the hallway, bathroom off to the side and on to the bedroom. Spacious and clean and the pillows were oh so fluffy. The breakfast provided made me give it 4 stars instead of 5. Gross sausages, bland watery scrambled eggs and really bland waffles. Coffee was a brand I had never heard of and was really meh. A little noisy with trains and the 401 being very close. It's easy to find from the 401 which makes it that much nicer. Would stay again. The bathroom had no heat in it. Kinda odd
Staff at check in and check out were professional and happy to serve you. I was offered a free upgrade which was nice. I am that person that seems to never get the first class or room upgrades when I travel. Now I can't say that anymore. Nice hotel, clean, quiet and nice pool.
Staff were very friendly and helpful .Room was nice and clean and breakfast was good with fresh breads and desserts. I had a great night's sleep and would stay there again. Location is just off of the highway and is easy to get to
We arrived first day a bit early and room Was ready for us within an hour while we went for lunch. Staff was friendly and helpful, from front desk to maid. Breakfast was very good with ample food both hot and cold. The room was large and comfortable, love the walk-in shower. King bed was very nice, room clean, everything works. Just a great place to stay in Bowmanville area, I am sure we will return.
A recently renovated hotel, excellent location, caring and friendly staff, nice beds in well-equiped rooms, clean throughout, with free WI-Fi and an above average full breakfast included. In total, great value, significantly less than comparable hotels in the region. The only critique is that the very basic rugs chosen, lack richness.
We were in town to attend our friends' wedding. Because our flight was delayed, we arrived at the hotel around 11 pm but late check out was not a problem and Sharon (Shannon?) at the desk was lovely. Our room was extremely spacious, the bed was absolutely huge, so was the bathroom, great walk-in shower with a fold up seat. The bathroom was kitted out with everything one can possibly need. The breakfast is included and is excellent (eggs, bacon, sausages, waffle maker...). The only thing we noticed is that the breakfast room itself could be bigger as we saw a few guests going back up to their rooms with their breakfast as there were no tables available. There was also a lot of available parking space and several eateries across the parking lot (Swiss Chalet, Egg Smart, Subway...).
Hi, We got in a bit late and were given a very friendly greeting by Judy. The room was clean and very comfortable with soft sheets and a good mattress. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise with really good coffee, well cooked eggs and lots of fruit. If we go through Bowmanville again, we will be staying here.
very nice place the granddaughters liked the pull out couch, next time i hope to use the pool didn't have time but it looked very nice breakfast was good eggs; sausage hash browns pancakes coffee ect very good
Had a nice stay, just off the highway and a short drive to downtown. Room was single queen and had 2 tvs with sitting area/fridge/microwave. Room 129. Staff was helpful and polite...there was also a small pool.
Prior to even arriving i was having issues with the hotel..they messed up my reservation date and basically said it was my fault/problem for this mistake. Mind you, the hotel was now sold out and i was travelling there for a wedding so i had to call and book the reservation so i know for a fact that i would not have called and asked to stay half of the time i needed to be there. who ever was helping me did not care one bit and had no problem expressing she didn't care. Having all of this happen before i even get to the hotel, i realized this wasn't going to be the most pleasant stay. luckily rooms were clean (wasn't the room i asked for) but at that point i felt complaining more was just going to cause more drama. The town this hotel is located in is very small so most likely you are staying there you have a reason to be there...so if you don't have ANY other options then perhaps consider staying here.
We were pleased with our stay at this property. The premises have been recently renovated, and the results are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It has easy access to and from Hwy. 401. Desk staff were courteous and professional. The breakfast was on par with any we have had at other BW locations. After factoring in the very reasonable price, I would call this an excellent value.
great check in, great room with very comfortable bed and pillows, didn't get to use fitness room and pool but both looked very well maintained and the cardio equipment looked brand new. Breakfast was very good with lots of variety, reminded me of the great breakfasts you get in the US at hotels.
I booked my room 5 weeks prior to my stay. I had a King suite with kitchenette. The day of my check-in, I was given a regular room with a king bed. I went back to the front desk and explained that I was given the incorrect room. She told me that this is the room that I had booked. She then explained to me that there must have been "a computer error" with my booking. Considering I was paying way more than a regular room for my two night stay, she should have realized that there was an error. I also confirmed my reservation with the hotel, twice (1 week and 2 weeks prior to my stay). I booked my room directly by calling the hotel location, not a central reservation phone number. All of my emails showed a king with a kitchenette. I was given a 2 queen room with a kitchenette. The room was okay, but smelled of old cirgarette smoke. I should have been given some sort of compensation without having to ask, but I was not given anything.
First, the good stuff: The hotel lobby was very clean and welcoming, as were all the staff whom we encountered. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses, so finding a spot is not an option. It's also well lit. The breakfast was what you'd expect with other hotels. Nothing amazing, but not disappointing. As usual, however, I could see lack of seating being a problem on weekends. Now for the not-so-good stuff. The room was a little worn out, and was also lacking the "wow" factor i'd except at this price point. Had the room been a little cheaper, i'd give it a 5 star review...but since they're pricing it comparable to 5 star-reviewed hotels, I have to review it based on that criteria...and it fell short. The room just looked used up. The carpet has some pretty interesting staining on it throughout the room. There were numerous spots on the wall where it was evident that water damage had been replaced. There were various nicks and scuffs throughout the room. The tile was in desperate need of either new grout or just to be replaced entirely. The toilet paper dispenser was one of the side-by-side industrial style ones you'd expect in a shopping mall, not in a nice hotel. I will point out that at NO point did I notice the hotel was unclean...very much the opposite in fact...I have a feeling they do the best job cleaning the old worn out rooms that they have to work with. One final thing I didn't like was the TV. Unless i'm doing something wrong, I couldn't figure out how to get the L-menu off the screen...so it makes the actual program pretty small (it doesn't take up the entire screen). Quite annoying. Also, there were no USB charging plugs in the room, which isn't a big deal...but most other hotels at this price have them, so they probably should too. All in all, the place was fine...but if they're going to charge as much as they do, they need to up their game, in my opinion. It's overpriced for what you get.
We always opt for best western hotels because the service is fantastic but this hotel didn't deliver. We ordered food and the desk staff said we hadn't checked in. Our room was small and the pool was cold and darkly lit. The only good thing was the variety at breakfast. But this alone is not enough for us to stay again
From the start my wife and I did not find the front desk staff very friendly and were very condescending we got off the elevator with the luggage cart only to find out we could only take the cart part way down the hall because of steps.so we had to carry our luggage to our room lucky we didn't have a lot. I pity anyone who may have a lot to carry. If you happen to use a wheelchair this not the place for you! The only thing I can say is that the breakfast was very good but seating in the dinning room is vrey limited. Don't waste your money stay somewhere else!!! John T
The hotel is in a great location but the interior smelled of mould and was very musty. I was on the third floor and the AC did not work. The staff were not very friendly, were inexperienced, and barely said hi - customers do not come first at this location. I would boycott this hotel and stay somewhere that has friendlier staff.
We stayed in a two queen suite last night. The room was adequate---the kitchenette in the suite smelled a bit but seemed to get a bit better with an attempt to air out the room. Everyone slept well and breakfast was fine. We booked through airmiles.ca which was good value. The General Manager, Diana R, insisted on charging my credit card for the room as they claimed not to have been paid by Airmiles. This was even when I showed her the receipt from Airmiles. When I spoke to the folks at Airmiles they explained that Best Western invoices Airmiles monthly for all rooms and then the individual hotels get paid from Best Western's head office. This is not a new practice It seems like this place will get paid twice for the room as things stand now. The nice lady at Airmiles undertook to get my credit card credited for the mistake. This is the first of many places I have booked with Airmiles to give us grief. The whole episode makes me cautious about this place. It is just not worth the hassle---don't stay here. I told Diana R that I would place this review on line.
Excellent value for the money and we would return for sure when next back in this area. Breakfast was above and beyond our expectations , quality of food and service was better than most . Enjoyed our two day stay.!!!
We stayed here for one night on our drive back home over the Civic long weekend. A fine place to stay for the price we paid- clean, lots of food nearby, and the staff were courteous. It's exactly what we expected.
We were checking in when a relative went to pay her bill. The General Manager happen to be working the reservations desk and mentioned to the relative she had paid a Canadian motel reservation in US dollars! The General Manager took it upon herself to undo the US reservation and book the room in Canadian dollars. She literally saved the relative numerous hundreds of dollars!! How many people would take the time or even care to correct the reservation cost? Hats of to Diana for caring and showing care!
very friendly and helpful staff rooms clean and descent size breakfast good but due to location the rooms suffer from traffic noise all night this can be drowned out by turning on the noisy air conditioning unit.
I am a loyal BW customer, and it is my go to hotel whenever I travel (which is often). Even taking that into consideration, I would NEVER stay here EVER again. We arrived yesterday for our one night stay at 3PM (check in is at 3, right?). Well I guess that is highly subjective, because we were told to come back in 45 minutes because our room wasn't ready yet. When we came back, the new woman at the desk who gave us our keys, upon seeing my husband hauling a trolley full of our bags (we've been travelling for a week and didn't want to leave any of our stuff in a hot car) into the hotel, starts giving us attitude on how there are steps down into the 100 rooms (which we had one of), and we needed to use the outside entrance that faced the hotel. Fine by me, but lose the attitude. I don't need eye rolls or sighs! You should be helpful when someone hasn't been to the hotel before! How were we supposed to know there were steps? But when she tells us, after a giant sigh, that we should have told her how many bags we had (who does that on check in?!), she stopped herself from going further as I think she knew how rude and unprofessional she was being (I was just about to call her on her attitude at that point). So we haul the trolley around the building to a door that is NOT made for the baggage carts. With two doors that are heavy and don't stay open (accessibility?!) and a tight area that is barely big enough for it to turn we finally get to our room. Oh boy was that gross. It was dark and dingy, with dead bugs around the outside - that a vacuum could have got to because if I could clearly see it on a check of the room - ITS NOT THAT HARD TO DO. The bathroom drain didn't work and after a 3 minute shower, you're up to your ankles in gross water (because I would NOT step in it without shoes on). Stains on the mattress cover was also a plus (barf). You may ask why I didn't complain to the front desk? Well who WOULDN'T want another conversation with the sparkling personality we met when we first arrived. I guess if you're travelling with a pet, who the hell cares right? I'm not sure what the rest of the hotel was like, but if you do have a furry friend with you on your travels, avoid this place at all cost. You do NOT get your money's worth, that's for damned sure.
We stayed here long term due to work horrable experience. One or 2 nights most would not notice. The last ordeal was we showed up to our room greeted by urine on the toilet seat and floor called down to have a cleaner fix the problem and nobody showed. At all... another crew who knew us over heard the desk staff saying "it's just that Sutton crew whatever" this is just the latest. Poor housekeeping, no towels half the time, rude and ignorant desk staff very high turnover rate with staff as well. the only good thing here is the breakfast lady she is cool.
Stayed the night before a friend's wedding. The hotel was quite nice. The staff were all very pleasant. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was good. Nice large selection of foods and the seating area was open and roomy.
We stayed there for one night before attending a conference, The suite was nice and very clean, and comfortable, The staff were very friendly and helpful The breakfast was complementary and was good with a reasonable selection, Tv and Wifi were good and no troubles with either. Its nice to have the Swiss Chalet Harveys across the parking lot / nice swiming pool. This is a great comfortable hotel we will be back at the next chance we get,
Absolutely Wonderful staff. They have Very nice rooms with extremely comfortable beds! The location is great, right off of 401. There is plenty to do and places to eat all within walking distance. I will definitely be staying here again.
Booked a room directly with the hotel for a one-night stay in the area. Everything was as expected for this level of hotel. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was fine. Would certainly stay here again.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. The outside of the building looks a little dated however the inside was well kept, updated and quiet. The staff was knowledgeable about the community and very friendly. All in all a pleasant experience.
Everything went well at this hotel from checkin to checkout even showed up for breakfast at 905 and they kept it open till we were done eating even tho they were closed at 9,we thought it was till 10: only problem we had was the inside pool water was too cold for our taste
My boyfriend, his aunt and I stayed a night here over the Easter weekend. The mattresses were very comfortable and the room itself was pleasant enough. We had a couple of maintenance issues which we reported to Emma at reception when we checked out. I would recommend putting a light strip above the sink and tea & coffee station as it was quite dark in that spot. We enjoyed having a swim in the pool and were impressed to find a little fitness room. We were disappointed, however, by Judy's reaction to our double-booking the room which was obviously unintentional and didn't find her attitude all that pleasant or helpful. We spent almost half an hour on the phone to booking.com in our room to resolve it all and got there in the end but it was rather a palaver. Would have appreciated a little more grace towards the situation. Breakfast was alright though I was very taken aback to find no crockery or glasses - instead paper plates, plastic cutlery and plastic cups. With the amount of guests you must have, crockery etc. should be a given when everybody should be doing their part to help reduce plastic consumption. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and hope the team can look to make a few adjustments for future guests.
My wife and I had a comfortable stay at Best Western. This was our first stay at Best Western. The staff were friendly and the amenities and breakfasts were much appreciated. We will definitely return.
Recently renovated so like a new hotel. Comfortable; staff friendly and indoor pool. Also surprised to find a very nice gym. Great location off the 401 but quiet room. Have the usual self-serve breakfast. Recommend as best in town.
stayed at hotel right off 401 due to bad weather conditions the front desk staff was very friendly offered coffee as we were waiting to be checked in rooms were quiet and clean breakfast was nice in the morning fresh fruit and yogurt
Best Western gave my boyfriend and I a very warm welcoming and comforting stay. The facility was generally clean, staff was nice, only two minor issues we came across. One being that we were given two conditioners and no shampoo (not the biggest deal) and my boyfriend was hoping to get a few extra pillows for ensured comfort but the front desk said they did not have any more available (what hotel doesn't have extra pillows?). Other than those very minor things, it was a great stay!
With the moving van off and the rest of our worldly possessions in our two vehicles, this is where we set-out on a 4,000 km move from Port Hope, ON to Jasper, AB This hotel had everything you could ask for for under $100 and more - It was more like a top-rated $130 hotel in most towns: Clean and relatively stylish room, yummy full-featured hot breakfast included, nice pool, helpful staff who met our every need, and convenient location
This was the first time I stayed at a hotel by myself. And it was just what I needed!! Even though I was in the first room everyone had to walk by, and was beside the ice machine, it was quiet, and I needed a break from screaming children. The room was spotless and just the right size for me. I found the tv a little confusing, but I don't usually have control of the remote. The bed was very comfortable and there were king size pillows like what I have at home. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. A perfect little get away, even if I was less than an hour away from home.
We were travelling with our two small dogs and stayed at this Best Western - and we were well taken care of. Recognized as best Western Members - but I would suggest that this would be a great businessman location, good location - easy access to 401 - restaurants close by, good breakfast - and comfortable room with good internet - and at a great value with membership
having called the hotel I had originally booked for Xmas eve and Xams day eve to check on something I was told they were closing down that day (2 days before Xmas eve ) I was scrambling I picked the Best Western Bowmanville due to it's closeness to the 401 this was the best thing I had done . even if the hotel I had first booked that is steps away from my family opens up again I will still stay at the Best western our total experience from room to staff was just amazing
Having stayed at Christmas last year, we were not disappointed with the hotel. It was extremely close to the 401 highway which made it very accessible for us. It was a bitterly cold night when we arrived. However, the hotel was warm and inviting. We were on the second floor and the whole hotel was very quiet making it very easy to fall asleep. In the morning we were delighted with the variety of breakfast items. The scrambled eggs were hot and fluffy and the ham and sausages were equally tasty. There were different types of cereal and juices and we particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit which was provided. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
I stayed at this location on December 26th. We were a party of 6 in 3 different rooms. Right from the start we knew our experience was going to be great... From the check in process right thru to check out. The Reception desk personnel went above and beyond for our party and made sure we were comfortable. They knew our first names, and were compassionate when they found out we were there for a family funeral. Rooms, breakfast, and your staff were fantastic.. I would return again to this location again without question.
The walls are fairly thin and it is a pet friendly hotel. I had 2 dogs barking most of my stay. There is very limited hotel parking so guests must park in the shared lot with the strip mall. I was there on Christmas Day so the lot was empty but this could be an issue on other days. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. I loved the walk in shower in my room. I can't comment on the breakfast or the pool as I did not use either. The floors in the room are either tile or hardwood and there was no mat at the door so water from melting snow from boots puddled up in front of door and towards bathroom. If I was staying there again I might leaves boots in the hall
I would highly recommend this hotel for it's friendly and helpful staff, it's comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. It is my regular place to stay when I meet with my clients. I feel like I am at home working.
Lots of hair behind bathroom door. Found hair in bed. Mould in shower. Staff was very nice. Located close to highway but far from everything else. Breakfast is fine - it's the usual that you get with free breakfast. Will look elsewhere next time
Excellent value for the money. Room was well laid out with a walk in shower which I appreciated, Staff courteous and hotel amenities were excellent. Off hour travel makes this an excellent choice - if travelling normal hours in and out of Toronto this would make the trip frustrating.
My wife and I have stayed at Best Western Hotels, as well as others of the similar standard, quite frequently both in Canada and the USA. We have found that Best Western offers the best quality compared to other chains within the same price category.
Overall very satisfied however internet quality (speed) was poor. Hotel was very clean and room was a good size. breakfast was ok but selection was limited great coffee ready early in the morning which I appreciated. Registration was great and the staff was extremely pleasant and very accommodating.
This former Howard Johnsons was not very good but, it's been renovated and has changed to a Best Western Plus. There's a nice spacious lobby with a fireplace, friendly staff and the breakfast area. Our room was large with a comfortable bed, good heat/cooling control, a TV with real HD channels and a handly mini-fridge. The bathroom was large and featured a large walk-in, glass-walled shower. My wife and I travel a lot and we have no hesitation about saying this was the best shower we've ever experienced in a hotel. No piddling, water-saving, can't-get-wet shower here. We'd stay here again just for the shower. The free breakfast had the usual hot and cold stuff but had particularly good danish pastries. The strawberry/cream cheese danish is amazingly good.
Had a great stay. Staff was friendly and polite. Hotel was within a short distance from where family member live. Will definitely stay there again. Added bonus was watching the Bowmanville Santa Parade.
Stayed for a quick one night in town for a competition. The stay was great, hotel was quiet and the bed was quite comfortable. Clean updated hotel. Id stay here again i the future if necessary. I did not try breakfast, however many restaurants very close by.
We have always had a great stay at this place. The staff are friendly in every way. The rooms are always clean and if you need something they don't have at their fingertips, they are quick to see if someone might have it in a storage room. They are more than generous with their blankets and stuff.
The Best Western is a quality hotel chain. Nice clean room Friendly staff. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is in a great location close to the highway and food and within 10 minutes of everything in the town. The only problem was there is no EV chargers in Bowmanville.
I was terribly disappointed in the service and the accommodations. I was met with slow check in service followed by tired rooms and topped off with lousy beds. There are much better hotels within the area for less money.
Location is great close to the highway and big parking lot. Good breakfast, lobby super clean, with a pool ! The room needed a better housekeeping after inspecting the room the corners on the floor were very dusty which is unacceptable! But very quite and good confy bed. They dont have a laundry room which is bad!!! Especially if you really need to do a big clean up after a big problem with my last hotel!! Good spot!
Great experience and very relaxing for a small get-away. We like to plan a break once in awhile to get away from the mad rush. We usually choose the Best Western as we can count on a pleasant stay with friendly people. We enjoy the breakfasts as well and the comfortable beds and pillows.
Great location off the hwy 401, was quick to get me a room as I had NO reservation, room was clean, quiet, bed was comfy, internet was fast. Check out was super easy, just had to hand in my room key, breakfast was hot and a great variety to choose from. Was perfect for what I was looking for.
I would have selected between average and very good. It worked for us. We were attending a wedding in Newcastle and its location was good. Rooms are a bit outdated but relatively clean. Michael at the Front Desk was extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast although not elaborate was good.
My wife and I enjoyed this hotel. We arrived too late to use the pool, but we enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast there. It is easy to get to the hotel from Highway 401 and the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel was very convenient to where my friends live so very easy exit and entrance to 401. Breakfast area was very clean, well stocked and many choices. They also have coffee available 24 hours in the lobby if you just want to sit and relax in the breakfast area. There are several places adjacent to the parking lot for fast food to bring back to the hotel and eat in the breakfast area.
Old building that is being updated but they still have a ways to go. Issues with cleanliness and strong odors. The breakfast was mediocre as was the staff. I don't think their higher price is warranted. Wouldn't stay there again.
Found the staff polite and helpful. There was a hockey tournament on, so there were a lot of children running about at breakfast in the morning. However, we did not hear them in our room in the evening, so we were not inconvenienced in any way. I would stay there again.
I expected a bright, clean room with upgraded comfy bed for the price of the room at this hotel in a small town like Bowmanville. Instead the room was small, dark and the bathroom looked older and dingy and needed a good clean. The bed was hard and pillows to puffy. Breakfast was included and inedible. The juice and coffee was watered down and the eggs taste was unrecognizable. This hotel and room were not for me. A front desk staff member was amazing. They are lucky to have her.
This room was larger than expected with many amenities. Free wifi and super comfy beds. There is a nice pool and small weight room neither of which I used but I did check them out. The morning breakfast was also better than expected with hot and cold offerings. The coffee wasn't great but I've had much worse. Overall a good stay!
The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for the GTA. Free parking, free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, swimming pool and easy access from the 401. I will definitely stay here again. Overall I would rate this hotel 4/5 stars.
Check in was quick, the staff was very helpful and caring, arranged our room with minimum fuss. The room was spacious and comfortable, quiet, the bathroom very spacious, great shower. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety, breakfast room staff very friendly, busy looking after the guests and the tables as they were vacated. Good value, easy access to the 401, nearby restaurants for lunch/supper.
Check in was easy and quick, the desk staff were very informative and helpful, both evening shift and morning shift. Breakfast was plentiful, the usual fare, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, cereal etc. Bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were too soft for our taste, and a firmer option wasn't offered.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet. We will definitely stay at this hotel when we are in the area again. We did not use all of the facilities, such as the pool but other members of our party did.
Found the room very clean and pleasant. Enjoyed the breakfast, good selection of both hot and cold to choose from. Close to the 401 highway. Would stay there again. Recommend the Best Western Plus, Bowmanville to other travellers.
Make sure you get the room you booked online. I Book what was advertised as a 3 bedroom suite and got a 1 bedroom with two beds. the room was under construction, as soon as I opened the door the maintenance staff had left their Dollie in front for me to trip on, then i stepped on a broken piece of wood. I found several nails on the floor as well.the fridge was missing from the kitchenette which was upsetting since I had just purchased $200 in groceries. some went to waste. Staff was cold and unwelcoming. I have spent 236 nights in hotels this year and this was by far the worst i have ever encountered.
The staff were very accommodating, friendly and professional. There were a couple of minor concerns but not enough to effect the overall stay. The TV remote was frustrating because the only buttons that worked were the Channels up / down and the off / on. No ability to get info about a show you thought might be good and couldn't adjust the volume down / up. The set-up of the shower was ridiculous and there was not a night light that could be left on. My husband is not very mobile and need to see when he wakes up to use the washroom. As I said, all minor problems. The room was spacious & well appointed. Over all we enjoyed our stay.
Desk staff and breakfast people were quite helpful. We travel with a service dog and the staff was very accommodating to our needs. Location is just off the highway, and near places to eat or downtown Bowmanville.
Exceptionally clean hotel, modern, conscientious staff. You won't be disappointed here. Wonderful hot and cold buffet for breakfast. all around superior service. Immediately off the highway, no searching the city. Good fast food available on same site.
Stayed at a lot of hotels and I have to say this is one of the best and cleanest places that I have stayed at. The room was well kept and clean. The bed very comfortable. And the staff at the front desk was very professional and offered the express checkout which saves a lot of time when having to check out Great stay.
Overall the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The Breakfast girl was a delight. Room was clean. Internet was intermittent.. Not really worth the weekend rate though. I have stayed in many Best Westerns as they do offer lots of amenities, always clean great staff and well presented. This place was good, but for the amount paid I did expect more. I would still recommend as a clean hotel with great staff.
Beside a bit inconvenience to get to and a short waiting for guest elevator, I am extremely satisfy with the hotel services, cleanliness and staff, would stay here again and recommend to friends and relatives.
There were bugs in both rooms and staff said this was an ongoing issue, that an exterminator comes every month but they keep coming back. rooms were dirty and noisy, but bed was comfy and staff nice. Cheap cheap renovation job falling apart already.
No issues, clean, good amenities. Room was quiet and set to a good temperature when I arrived. Price was reasonable with breakfast included. Hotel was close to highway for easy arrival and departure. Planning to stay again.
Hotel is very clean, excellent staff, very helpful. Wished the breakfast service was open later than 10 am, but overall very pleased with the hotel. This was a large group at a family wedding and everyone seemed pleased with the hotel, no complaints.
This was just a one night en-route, we were given a disabled access room which was OK even though we are able bodied, the fan had a big problem and was noisy, the receptionist shut it down and that was fine. the room had NO view, just a wall of the hotel.
Rooms were very clean. Front desk staff was very professional. Check-in was quick. Breakfast staff very accommodating. Lots of choice for breakfast. Good location close to 401. Close to fast food restaurants.
The hotel room was not special, but then we spent only enough time in it to sleep. It had not been thoroughly cleaned before we arrived. The bathroom is looking worn. The bed was comfortable. Not a lot of alternatives in Bowmanville area - so worked out well enough for a one night stay.
If you need a hotel in Bowmanville I would pick the Best Western. On our visit the front desk staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was clean and well maintained. Our bed was good and the pillows were nice a comfy. Breakfast was on par with other hotels.
Was very pleased with this hotel stay, beginning with the greeting upon arrival at the reception desk to the layout of the breakfast buffet. All our paperwork was ready and available upon our early check-in. Very expedient and friendly service. After a restful sleep, we headed to the breakfast buffet. With a couple of littles in tow it was great to see the vast arrangement of food offered. I believe it was Dina who oversees the buffet - she was very helpful, and you could tell that she took pride in her work ensuring that everyone who passed through the doors was taken care of. Thanks BW for investing in your employees, and ensuring that they LOVE their jobs. This love is transcended to those of us who choose to use the BW Hotels/Resorts. It shows that there is a mutual respect for management & their staff. You truly are a TEAM - each member is as important as the next regardless of title. I do, and will continue to recommend BW to my friends/co-workers and family where convenient to all. The only suggestion I would make (and it's no biggie), would be more towels in the swimming area, and in the rooms. Overall, a great experience!
We were passing through so we only stayed one night, but we were pleasantly surprised! The king size bed was really comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was perfect, which is rare in a hotel and it was very clean. The continental breakfast, not so continental to our good surprise, there were waffles, pastries, yogurts, fruits, cereal but also omelettes and... BACON!!!! The staff in the breakfast room was really nice. I would absolutely return and I recommend 100%
The website to book at this hotel was problematic, but when phoned directly, the agent was very helpful. Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. Truly went out of their way to make sure our trip was enjoyable. The breakfast is SO good! Rooms are so clean and quiet. Great nights sleep on the comfortable beds. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Bowmanville, esp. for fishing!
Nice room. Clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was wonderful. Swimming and exercise room was available. It was right off 401 exit. Outside of hotel is a Harvey's and swiss chalet takeout, a sub shop, and a salon called Blunt.
Good hotel close to Toronto. The price is very good for the location: Stray out of the highway 401 and easily reachable. Not a lot of food option nearby (You might have to drive to get a proper diner).
This was a wonderful hotel. We only stayed one night because we were just passing through but the quality of the hotel and staff were excellent! The local watering hole is BobbyC's with good food. The downtown ar was nice too.
I rate hotels based on whether or not the place is clean and the staff is friendly. Bomanville BW rates 5 on both counts. The building was clean from entrance-way to room. It is obvious that the management cares about how the place looks. It was fresh; there wasn't a paper out of place at check-in. The room was also clean and it was well-maintained. From check-in to check-out the same with staff: 5 stars. The front desk person was welcoming -- and she smiled (that doesn't happen in every hotel -- there have been times I have been made to feel like I was inconveniencing the person). Check-in was quick. A few moments after I was in the room I received a phone call asking if everything was fine. Some might think that annoying ("If I have a problem I'll tell you" type of thing), but it was a nice touch. The cleaning staff was friendly when we encountered them. The staff person at breakfast was accommodating and friendly (breakfast, by the way, was about what one would expect, and yet if felt better than average). Check out was quick and painless. Oh, and a very comfortable bed. I'll stay again next time I'm in Bowmanville.
I travel often for work and leisure and infrequently give a bad review. But this was noteworthy because of the apathy when I tried to discuss with management. I will start by saying that the front desk staff person was exceptionally kind and tried her best to fix the problem- but the problem should never have happened. We were given a room that had not been cleaned. There were dirty footprints in the shower, soap residue and toothpaste (gosh I hope it was toothpaste) on the bathroom counter, and after I called down to ask for some help with that, we realized that the bed had been made but NOT changed-ew, yup, dirty sheets! There were also greasy hand prints on the glass surround in the shower and on the microwave. Hotel was apparently full so they could not offer us another room. I already knew that there was no room In neighbouring hotels because we had tried to book elsewhere when we made this reservation earlier in the week. So the front desk staff was apologetic and brought us clean bedding and remade the bed. She also cleaned the bathroom with the cleaning materials she could find. When in woke up I found a note letting us know that our room had been discounted roughly $40 which was a nice gesture-BUT the fact that such a dirty room had been "signed off on by the housekeeping manager" caused me concern. When I tried to speak with the customer service manager- she was neither apologetic or interested, which raises concerns for me. It is too bad because it's a well appointed hotel, and the breakfast was great. But a lack of concern around room sanitation is a real show stopper in the hotel business. Maybe I should be grateful that it was dirty enough to notice...
Great welcome , very warm reception and friendly . the room was very clean very well lit , the bed extremely comfortable . Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone travelling along the 401 or old no. 2 highway.
I was in Bowmanville to visit friends, and so I booked for three nights here. First wow factor was a hotel card that was very easy to use for entering my room. Second wow factor was the pool. OK, it wasn't that big, but just enough for a relaxing dunk after a long day of walking. Also of note: easy access to very good restaurants, and an ATM machine at a convenience store across the street. Overall, I really enjoyed it.
Stayed here while in town for a wedding. Iniatially, I wasn't sure what we would do to kill time before the wedding - the hotel was a bit outside of the downtown core and there wasn't much to see that was within walking distance - but we ended up having a really pleasant day, spent mostly at the hotel. We started with a hot and cold breakfast buffet that had plenty of choices to suit guests needs, and a lovely chat with a hotel staff named Dinah. She told us that there were some nice historic buildings and boutique shops in town gave us directions. Spent about an hour or so poking around downtown, came back and used the fitness centre and pool, and got ready for the wedding. They allowed me to have a very extended late check out at no extra cost, which in turn allowed me an extended swim and a nice, leisurely hot shower before having to get ready and leave. Overall, a very good stay - I would consider staying at a Best Western again in the future.
would been better with a bigger early breakfast since there a lot of fishing going in this area cleaner made the round corner but overall was great for a night but really really good staff .(wasting ten words)
Appreciated the fact that Hotel accommodated our family dog staying with me. First night my room was just what I needed. The second night noticed how thin the walls were and was a bit noisy but quiet by 10:30. Room was clean but in both rooms curtains had not been cleaned or changed recently.
Enjoyed our stay! Breakfast was excellent and beds are comfortable. Great staff and helpful. Thanks for a great stay! The pool was a great addition and the kids enjoyed there stay and had fun swimming in the pool.
Been here on a couple weekend girls trip. Clean, a pool, close to restaurants, bars. It worked for us. Also, staff were accommodating to our needs. We always got two rooms and they always made sure we had whatever we needed. Wish they had a wee bar on premises tho. ;)
With clean rooms, comfy beds, and do-it-yourself waffles at breakfast, this hotel provided me with what I needed at a reasonable price. The lady who assisted with breakfast was also very friendly and helpful!
We had a king room which was clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom on the other hand was clean but very cramped. We asked for a playpen for our son ( under a year) to sleep in and they did have one in the room behind the office but it was half collapsed and not folded up. It was not delivered to our room ( or even offered to be delivered) so it was inconvenient to try to collapse fold it up and carry it to the room myself with no carrying bag. The free breakfast was amazing. Sharon who was working in the breakfast room did an excellent job keeping it clean and stocked. There were eggs, bacon, ham, DIY waffles, fresh fruits etc. lots to choose from. However, we were not impressed with the high chairs. There were only 2 and neither had working harnesses. Bit of a safety concern for our 9 month old who can climb out of it or fall out etc. Overall it was a comfortable stay and a good price and with the free breakfast.
Really a nice experience here, all around, at a good price. Friendly helpful staff, nice room, decent continental breakfast. Just off the Trans Canada, 15 minutes from Old Quebec by highway. Would definitely stay here again in this area.
Conveniently located for easy on off highway exit so continuation of trip was not made difficult. Friendly helpful staff was able to offer several dining and leisure activities for area. Comfortable, neat and clean suite.
I stay at this hotel for most of the year for work. The staff know us and are always accommodating. The internet can be great, although the last stay it kept kicking us off. The buttstop could be moved further from the side door.
We stayed at this location recently. Upon check in our room was not ready, dispute the fact it was after 3pm. Once we got a room key I was shocked to find a king size bed when I booked for 4 guests. The front desk told me that a staff member had altered my reservation, they did not know why, and that there were no rooms available. They said they would bring a for for our son, luckily our daughter had stayed home last minute so we ended up only being a party of 3. We returned to the room to find hair in the bathroom in multiple places, stains on the bedding and clearly reused sheets ( by the hair and wrinkles you could tell they had just remade the bed without changing the sheets. I assume this was due to the fact we were waiting to check in and they were rushing to get the room ready.) I complained to the desk and told them that if we did not have an appointment next day we would have left due to the lack of cleanliness. Shortly after I was told there were no roll away beds for my son, but they did offer us another room free of charge. Since my son is only 10 I told the manager it wasn't acceptable and asked for pillows and blankets for him to sleep on the floor. House keeping then showed up with a roll away bed. We checked out the next morning and some of our stay was refunded. The staff were nice and did apologize but I honestly would not stay again due to the hassle we went through with the room. On a positive note the pool was clean and the breakfast was good. Also good location. Hopefully in the future house keeping staff will do a through job at cleaning the room.
Very Good. We were there to clean out our mothers apartment. It took six trips. This Hotel was only 6 blocks from her apt.It made our job much easier. We will be staying at this hotel again later this year.
Loved this hotel, great rooms. Loved the service at breakfast the lady makes your day start of right with a smile on your face. Close to food, nice pool. Would stay here again for sure. I stayed here because I was doing back to back Spartan Races. Got a great night sleep and was able to refuel well with the breakfast they served. Polite friendly helpful staff.
Great Hotel in the heart of Bowmanville. Clean pool. Good breakfast. Super nice staff and nice rooms. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bowmanville for family fun or work related trip.
Had a terrific night's sleep at this hotel, while travelling for business. Would certainly stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and spacious, and the breakfast was excellent.
The service was great. I arrived early and they got my room cleaned and in order as quick as possible. They recommend a great place for dinner, the breakfast staff was very friendly, and even a maid commented to enjoy my stay! I thought that was especially nice.
Went to visit a sick relative in Bowmanville. I only stayed one night but was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and nicely renovated. The beds were very comfortable after a long drive in the car. The breakfast was self serve and had a larger selection of food items than what I expected. I would defiantly stay there again.
My girlfriend and I stayed here with a few friends to go see races at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Track. First off, I'd like to give a shout out to the staff, one in particular, I wish I remembered her name, an older lady. When I booked the room I took out my credit card and left it on my nightstand, and completely forgot it at home, in Sudbury. When I told her, I asked if I could just show her my ID and she let me. I was so stressed. Anywho, she was fantastic. The room was nice, clean, smelled good, the bathroom was beautiful, the shower was great, it was clean, didn't feel the need to wear flip flops. The bed was big, too firm for my liking but still made for a good nights sleep. The AC wasn't too loud, but it worked well. The bed was also clean, and had no funky smells. The breakfast was great, the lady taking care of it came to see my friends and i to make sure everything was okay. Even made a joke when one friend said he wanted waffles. The location was very convenient, right off of the 401, close to amenities and restaurants. Not quite walking distance though. Ample parking spaces as well. This was also my first stay at a best western, I'm typically a holiday inn type of person but couldn't afford it this time around, and I'm satisfied. Overall I would stay here again.
I had to pull off the highway and checked into this property. I did not have a reservation and it was 1:30 in the afternoon. The hotel manager Michael was very kind and and went out of his way to help me. I had a migraine and he put me into a quiet room. Hotel is clean and staff very helpful. The dog was given a welcome "doggie bag". There was also a small grassy area where the dog could relieve himself. Breakfast was included. They served bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, yogurt, assorted pastries, juices, coffee and tea. The best breakfast I have seen at a hotel in the area. The night manager was also very helpful when I checked out.
It was a last minute decision to stay here and it worked out great. Booked a suite and it accommodated 6 people easily. (Two Moms, 4 kids). The rooms were clean and spacious for what we needed. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool, and there were a couple of tables for the adults to sit at poolside. Full, hot breakfast was provided. This hotel was a nice surprise, we'll definitely come back if we're ever in the area. Great value for the money.
Stayed at this conveniently located hotel for 1 night. Easy to get off and on to highway 401. Great breakfast with lots of choice including a hot waffle station with loads of different toppings. Also nice choice of add-ins to make your own yogurt. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. My only negatives is that conversation from the next room filtered easily through the walls. The bathroom was very basic with only a shower stall and absolutely no decor. Reception and check-in was easy and fast.
Very understanding kind patient staff. We had 4 kids under 6 with us. Everyone's was so nice. We decided to stay an extra night and everything was so easy. Kids liked swimming and breakfast was great.
Excellent place Very nice people that work there The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable I would say it is the best place in Clarington to stay and I have stayed at them all The breakfast was good the poll is clean and very easy to get in and out of
The blinds did not shut all the way! The staff was great the hotel was clean!! I really like that they served breakfast as well it was nice they had a gym and a pool!!! They need Sportsnet 2 to watch the baseball game
I stayed here a couple of times. Staff was really helpful & friendly. Breakfast amazing. Internet great, in room or in lobby. NICE, rooms. Bring your swim suit, good gym facilities. Snack behind counter a bit pricey. IF you forget a toothbrush, those little incidentals, they have that covered for you. VERY close to the 401 exit. Classy. They also have wheelchair accessible suites, with great washrooms to accommodate the biggest wheelchairs. I was amazed.
The hotel staff was great, and it was a very good experience for someone staying in an area which they have never visited before. The were kind in answering questions and provided me a map of the area of places I may need. The hotel was clean and rooms were updated and comfortable. My stay was not long enough to enjoy some of the amenities at the hotel, but everything looked as if they were on top of it.
Mattress sucked . After driving all Day and going from meeting to meeting I was really looking forward to a deep sleep. Didn't happen and I will be going back to the area but will not stay there. Nice people but I am there to sleep. Really the only purpose of a hotel. Have good mattress. Pretty simple
Clean & very friendly staff Easy and convenient access to the highway Tim Horton is close by as well as other eatery's across the parking lost Breakfast in the morning is good considering it's free The room's could use a face lift but very clean The AC/heat unit's are nosy and could use updating but didn't bother me as I don't mind the nose as night.
Best Western hotels, including this one, are the best of any we've ever stayed at! Exceptionally clean and comfortable facilities. Wonderfully welcoming staff! Excellent amenities including hot breakfast.
The room was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast selection was fantastic. Hotel is conveniently located right off the highway. Overall, this was a great experience.
Attended a volleyball tournament, and we decided to make a weekend out of it. Arrived at hotel and although very close to highway, the highway noise was not an issue for us. Reception, hotel service and breakfast were great. One element that stood out for us was how wonderful the staff was. Well done.
good service and very good breakfast, dont use firts floor room the service is great but the first floor room nedd upgardee that'S what they told me. its near th highway but you dont ear it so its great for that and you dont search for it.
The Best Western Plus hotel in Bowmanvile is an incredibly clean and quiet hotel with a comfortable modern presence. About an hour out of Toronto it provides an alternative place to stay on the way to, or from, Pearson Airport. I've often stayed in Toronto after a long flight from Australia before setting off, but in the future, I will definitely look at this as a reachable first-stop after picking up my hire car. There was a nice small gym area with equipment and also a small indoor swimming pool. The room was spacious and well-lit and well-furnished with a good supply of amenities (including mouthwash). The free wifi, parking and a basic but more-than-adequate breakfast were much appreciated. The staff (particularly the lady at reception) were all very helpful and friendly. I was also able to get a late check-out.
my first impression was that it was modern. check in was easy and the staff friendly. We stayed in room 134. upon arrival to the room I did my normal bed check and was surprised to find the top cover for the bed was badly stained and looked like it had food stuck to it on the inside. I pitched that onto the chair in the corner. we were tired and it was very late so decided to not bother with calling this in. the bathroom was ok but the shower had some mold in the corners and the seal at the bottom of the door was hanging off. The carpet needed cleaning and there were a number of stains on the floor. there was an odd odor in the room but again we were really tired so just decided to live with it. our room was very warm. we took advantage of the breakfast the next day and that was great! just what we needed to get us going that morning. check out was simple and when asked what they could improve I did mention that the room could be cleaner.
Pool small..dirty bandaid in pool. Pool closes early. Room was cold...couldn't find thermostat. Kids woke up several times in the night because they were cold. Sticky floor and walls. Loud traffic from 401. Room set up was good though.
To add to other positive reviews, this hotel is an easy recommendation. It is reasonably priced (senior rates) and includes an excellent breakfast menu. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Room amenities are of the highest quality. Another excellent stay at a Best western hotel.
The staff at this hotel were more than accomodating of our needs and questions of the area. The room was lovely and beds so comfortable we tried to figure a way to sneak tham out of the room and take home. It was so nice to have an extra area where one of us could work and the other relax watching T.V.
This hotel has been recently renovated. It is very convenient to the 401, easy off and easy on. Excellent breakfast included both hot and cold. I would recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure.
The bed sheets were soiled, garbage cans sticky, towels stained, bathtub did not work, cable signal fuzzy - overall a terrible experience. The hotel is next to the highway and there is constant traffic noise, which builds from 5AM onward. This is not a "Premium" property except that it looks relatively modern; it is the lack of day to day up keep and location that male it as "DO NOT STAY HERE" experience.
We couldn't find a hotel in Toronto because of TIFF and so we decided to stay in Bowmanville and drive in in the morning. We were very pleasantly pleased with the overall quality of the hotel and enjoyed our short stay.
Bathroom was not cleaned. A big pile of soiled laundry greeted me when I checked in that was sitting on the hallway floor across from my room. The door was open which was also creepy as I wondered if someone was in there.
We had a one night stay at this Best Western. We arrived after 6pm & were disappointed to find out they were closing the pool for cleaning at 8pm. We always try to get a pool at the location as our kids really enjoy it. It was not to open again until 3pm the next day so it was out of the question then as well. They did get in for a while that night but it was pretty busy for a smaller pool. The room we had was quite good & the location was excellent near the 401. The breakfast the next morning was included & did the trick to tide us over for a while. Overall, it was a decent hotel.
The room was very nice, the exercise and pool area lacked a bit and accessing the pool was a problem as our card would not work but all in all it was fine. Breakfast was nicely done and the area was well kept.
I can't believe this is considered to be a PLUS property!! Who did they pay-off at BW HO to get THAT brand/rating? So many things are wrong with this property. Here are just a few things they should have taken care of prior to our visit... - Do not set the room temperature to 16C before the guests arrive. It was WAY too cold and it took HOURS for the heating unit to warm the room up to 20C. VERY annoying/ inconvenient & energy inefficient!! - Wash/clean pillowcases so they don't smell like stale body sweat and cigarette smoke. Train your front desk people how to do their job. When I asked for fresh pillows, she said the hotel was full (not true!!) and there were no pillows left. 15 minutes later, we got a call from the front desk and they ‘magically' found some! (Imagine that!?) When I went to go pick them up (...they really should have delivered them!!), a different front desk lady said the previous lady didn't know where the fresh pillows were in storage. And this is a PLUS property? - Supply more toilet paper by the toilet. This is a TERRIBLY embarrassing predicament to be put in…esp. with no tissues (see next point!!)… - Supply facial tissues - The existing box had 2 tissues left in it!! - Fix the bathroom door so that it does not bind and prevent closure/locking. Ridiculous! - Clean the guest room so there is no disgusting long-black hair everywhere. - Replace cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, hallways and elevator floor areas. - Do not serve pork cottage roll at breakfast instead of HAM – it tastes like SPAM. Spend a little more and serve real ham only!! - etc., etc. ...
Stayed here for 2 nights recently. Great little hotel! Everything looked like it had been updated recently and is well maintained. Any of the staff we dealt with were all super pleasant and helpful. We checked in a little earlier than your typical 3pm check-in time but they had a room all ready for us. Bed sheets and towels both seemed freshly cleaned. Room was a good size. Bathroom was huge! The microwave and bar sink were nice little bonuses. The included breakfast was STELLAR! I was expecting your typical continental breakfast: cereals/toast/coffee. But they really go all out. There were eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, pastries, bagels, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, even a make your own waffle station! The only minor thing that I'd take points off for would be I found that the floor cleaner they used had somewhat of a strong smell (similar to Pinesol) that seemed to linger for quite a bit afterwards.... That and our room keys locked us out on the 2nd day, but it was very quickly resolved... But again, really minor. Great stay overall. Definitely recommend!
The hotel is close to the highway yet quiet and close to amenities in the town of Bowmanville Ontario.. Room was bright and clean Beds were quite comfortable. Hot breakfast had plenty of selection of cold items as well. Staff were cheerful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and beyond.
I found the King room rather small for what it is. I also thought the bathroom, although clean still could of smelled fresher. For the location though it was what we needed as we just needed a room for a wedding that was local.
In town for a golf tourney and family gathering. We booked a suite here and it was a clean, quiet and convenient spot for a family stay. Breakfast was also included, which was a bonus. Didn't try the pool but it looked very nice.
Had a room on ground floor near pool, Staff was very nice & easy to deal with. The breakfast was awesome. Made use of the pool and although it was small it was great after a hot day . Our room was very nice and super quiet.
We paid for a suite. The living room dining area had no window, no air conditioning and had a very stuffy smell. I would not stay in my own place if it was such, because I have allergies. The TV did not work. There was only one staff who did her best and suggested we ask for discount in the morning. But all I got was 200 points, I would not stay here again.
Traveling from Montreal I was looking for a decent hotel close to the highway for convenience and outside Toronto. This location was great. Easy to get to, pleasant staff, and complimentary breakfast (fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham and a waffle maker. Good coffee and juice selection as well as muffins and Danishes. I was on the third floor (elevator was not functioning this day) but the stairs were easy to maneuver. My room was adjacent to the highway but honestly the room was so quiet you needed to concentrate to hear the traffic. Other sides of the building I don't know. The only noise I heard the whole evening was s door in the hallway around 6:30 am. Even the A/C was quiet!! There is also a small stripe mall in front with a breakfast place and a Sub place if you like. Very convenient for me, just what I was looking for. The rooms are clean and modern, the shower an open concept worked great. Would recommend this for a stop over between Montreal and Toronto. About 1 hour to Toronto from Bowmanville.
ask for a ground floor room as the hallways in the above floors have some steps that make it difficult if you have lots of suitcases.PLUS the elevator is a walk from reception to drag cases to. The breakfast is very good although they should include boiled egss as well.
Hotel was newly renovated. Nice new lobby and breakfast room. I stayed in room on lower level next to pool and the room smelled musty. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Ran out of toilet tissue was only part of a roll and had to ask for more. Over all would stay there again if could get a room on a higher floor.
The staff at this hotel was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was beyond what I was expecting. The room was clean. During a 3 night stay , the cleaning lady did not restock the shampoo and conditioner on the second day. I did get some from the lobby. The mattress on the beds were very soft. Too soft for a comfortable sleep and a good night's sleep is the most important item for choosing a hotel, For this reason only, I will try something else next time in the Bowmanville area
A weird welcome since the lady at the front desk was outside. (We were late arrival!). She apologized. Comfortable room for both of us, beddings were great. Fluffy pillow. Good breakfast with hot meal: bacon, egg and sausage. Pastry were good. Choice of juice, milk and coffee. (serve yourself). I would recommend even if it was a bit pricey. But still a good stay.
This hotel has a very welcoming staff. They ensured we were happy with scent/pet free accommodations. When our children were sick, they were very helpful and attentive. We thank you for your kindness.
We were travelling with our 2 grandchildren and stayed at the Best Western Plus in Bowmanville. The room was excellent in that the bedroom (2 queen beds) was separate from the TV/Computer area. The bedroom had a door so the kids could be in the bedroom with a TV on and we could be in the other room.
Do not go to the liberty inn nearby as its beyond skid row. This best western was close to Newcastle, Ontario and the durham region. The staff where well trained to be there for you from making sure your room is to your standards and so forth.
This hotel looks like it was recently renovated. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast is typical for a Best Western Plus. A few more tables in the breakfast room would be good and the price could be a few dollars cheaper considering the location, but otherwise we were very happy with our stay here.
Location of this hotel is great - right off of the highway! Room was clean and spacious but the view from the third floor was TERRIBLE - Looked out on to the roof of the pool facilities. The fitness room did not have the air conditioning working so it was very warm. Staff was friendly, breakfast was minimal but good. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Very boring, in the best way! Fast easy check-in, clean comfortable room with separate sitting/work room. Great hot breakfast, bill under the door overnight makes for fast checkout. Reasonable rate, lots of parking.
Overall the Best Western Plus was great. Friendly staff and great service! Breakfast is well served and many options. Staff are always. GReat experience. The hotel is located near the highway and the plaza has convenient restaurants.
Was in Bowmanville on a work assignment. Stayed 4 days. Upon checking in there were some issues with my booking. The desk staff handled it in a quick and efficient manner, I was soon able to get to my room with minimal effort on my part. The room I had was either nearly finished or poorly planned. Nice enough room, the bed was quite comfortable with a firm mattress. When I plugged my phone in I noticed the sockets were missing cover plates. This prompted me to inspect further as I settled in. At a quick glance nothing seemed too odd however the fridge was in the entertainment unit. Then I noticed the drawers of the unit could not open as they were held closed by the arm chair in the room. Which I then noticed was wedged in between the unit and the wall. It really seemed like someone had decided what was going in the room before they knew the dimensions of the room.Good drape, my shift required sleeping in daylight. Minimal ambient outside sound, I was ground floor next to an on ramp and I am a light sleeper. I swore I could hear the person above me snoring however. Did not get a chance to check out the indoor pool. Had the complimentary breakfast buffet on my last day there. It had a large selection of breakfast things including a waffle maker to make your own waffles. Everything was fairly well prepared. The eggs were slightly runny, something was stale but I cannot recall what but everything else was pretty good. Trust me being the only one there I ate a lot, breakfast was nearly over and I don't like wasting food. Sorry I don't drink coffee. Harvey's, Subway and Eggsmart right across the parking lot convenient. Grocery, drug and hardware stores all within 5 minute drive. Quick access to the 401. What I liked best was the bed, a poor bed can ruin my entire trip. What I liked the least was having to get a new wifi password from the front desk everyday. While I do appreciate internet security, on any kind of extended stay it's a bit of a pain in the butt.
I was pleasantly surprised at the interior of hotel and the cleanliness of the updated room. The front desk person was engaging and helpful. It was easy to access from the highway. The outside of the building and neighborhood initially made me skeptical.
Its a fairly new rebuild and some tuning still in progress. I have come here many times even while it was still a Howard Johnson. Cleaner and better maintained than last year and all getting in order. Comfortable beds and decent rooms. Relatively noisy rooms as close to 401 and paper-thin windows or Heating ducts. Very small pool though so don't expect to do laps. Overall though very good.
The room was not fantastic but the bed and pillows were so comfortable. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Did not hear much outside noise. The breakfast selection was fresh and abundant. It was a nice stay.
Very accommodating, comfortable and clean. We stayed two nights and other members of our family for two or three nights as we were all in town to be with family for a funeral. The hotel staff even let us use the breakfast room to use for lunch as we had a lot of left over food from the funeral the day before. We have always found it difficult to find a place in the area of our hometown as it is not a destination or tourist area. This will be great for future visits as well.
Our suite was not huge, but it was very clean and the value was excellent for the price we paid. Breakfast had a wide range of options, even for those of us with wheat- and sugar-free diet. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Great location for where we needed to be. Easy to find right off of the 401. Restaurants close and finding other stores were easily accessed also. Loved the breakfast in the morning (especially the woman that helped me make my waffle - delicious). Great stay and would come back.
Very convenient for a business trip. Clean hotel. Nice pool and fitness room. Fast check-in/out. I did not eat at the breakfast, but the basic stuff was there. Right in front of the hotel, there is a couple of restaurant. Perfect for a quick lunch after the road...
We stayed during a hockey tournament and despite all the confusion at breakfast it was a good place to stay. Friendly staff. Nice fire fireplace and comfortable chairs in lounge with pool for the kids too Will do it again ;)
I recently had to make a trip to the area for a meeting and booked in as it was close to my meetings. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful in printing me out directions as well as giving me some restaurant recommendations for my special diet. The room itself was very nice. It looks to have been recently updated. My only complaint would be that my tissue box was down to the last few but when i called down for another one, it was delivered within a few minutes. I did not use the pool, but checked it out and it looks nice. Maybe next time. Would definately stay again if i was back in the area
We were put up here for work for a couple of months. Overall, Great experience. Staff are friendly and professional . Place is clean and quiet. Gym and pool are never busy, and we'll maintained. Many amenities are close by. Great location just off hwy 401
While it looks like upgrades have been done, there are still lots to do. Carpets need replacing, sofa dated. Comfortable bed and some new finishings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great place for a nite
Minus 1 point for NOT accommodating our accessibility request to the room. Minus 1 point for the room condition NOT living up Best Western standard. Minus 0.5 point for air quality. Minus 0.5 point for NOT worth the money we paid. Our team stayed in this hotel (Rm232) for hockey tournament from Jan 7-10. Pros: - Right beside highway 401. Subway, Harvey's, Swiss Chalet are just across the parking lots. - Friendly staff. We only have the fridge in the room. The staff helped us to keep our baby food in the kitchen freezer. - Good swimming pool. The water was a bit cold but the temperature was high enough in the pool area. The cold water didn't bother our 7-month-old boy. However, our friend's 3-year-old boy didn't seem to like the water temperature. Cons: - Accessibility to the room was important to us and we specifically asked for it when we made our reservation. The hotel did not accommodate our accessibility request. We were assigned Rm 232, in which we had to get passed 2 steps of stairs after elevator. We had another request for a baby playpen. The hotel was aware of our accessibility request, but was unable to find other room that fit in the playpen. They failed to inform us that the room did not have accessibility access even though I specifically asked about it during checked in. We were surprised when we stuck mid way with our luggage cart, and we have to lift our stroller pass the stairs. Not happy with the experience at all. - The room did not live up the Best Western standard. There was a dent on the wall, there was a X mark on the washroom door frame, there were a few “232” graffiti on the toilet sink area, the toilet paper roll holder was missing, the toilet fan didn't look good at all. See photos. - After expressing my concern at check-in, I was suggested to talk to the manager who was on duty the next day. Spoke to the manager the next day, with changing room not a convenience option since it was already 1 day since we settled in with a lot of baby stuff. We got toilet paper holder put on and the washroom fan cover replaced. However when we turned on the washroom light, the fan was making a really loud noise. The staff came to disconnect the fan, and told us they will fix it shortly, but they never came back. Therefore, we don't have the toilet fan on Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4. - I am allergic to dust and pollens. I allergy reaction kicked in a few hours after checked in to the hotel, that I have to take my prescribed drug to reduce the symptoms. (Note: I only need my drug during Spring and Fall.) One of the parents in our hockey team had allergy reaction too. His eyes were swollen. The air quality made me sick and felt fatigue.
Not the most enjoyable experience I have ever had at a hotel. Upon arrival it took ages to find our reservation after the clerk asked our name five times. Judy did not seem to understand the computer (confused.) Had to walk back to the front desk 6 times throughout our stay because the electronic key did not work. Janet was talking on the phone about Eddie and his next shift, the new owner coming to visit and who was scheduled for other weekend shifts all while I was standing there wanting a key that worked for my room, poor customer service. Room was comfortable but dirty with a burned out light in the bathroom. Told the front desk clerk that the room was dirty and needed to be cleaned while we were out for the evening, a new bulb in the bathroom was installed and the burned out bulb was left on the bathroom counter??, I was told that there was no maintenance staff on duty. When we returned later that day the light was replaced but had to clean the desk tops, night tables and top where TV was, so much dust - very surprised, in the sunlight coming in the window it look disgusting. Asked Judy that they clean the room but had no staff. When we went out the next day asked again that room be properly cleaned, came back to the same. Hair and dust balls behind toilet, a pair of earrings in the shower, overhead vent was clogged with dust and cob webs, something had dribbled down the dresser drawers long ago but never cleaned, phone did not work but fixed next day, office chair at desk was unbelievably dusty. Suggestion: go into that room when the sun is coming through the window and you will see how dirty the counters, chairs and fridge are. Thank you, I did enjoy the breakfast two days in a row but that will not bring me back again in spit of the fact that my son lives two blocks away. I was hoping for a good hotel every time I visited my son.
We recently stayed (Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day Evening) at the Best Western in Bowmanville. The former Howard Johnson was very drab and run-down; however the newly-renovated Best Western is absolutely lovely. It is located just off highway 401 and although it is close to the highway we were not bothered by highway noise at all. We obtained the *manager's special" which reduced the listed price. We had a king size bed in a large well decorated room with both a small fridge and a microwave oven. The bed was extremely comfortable with excellent linens. The flat screen TV was on the wall opposite the bed and we were able to watch it in perfect comfort. Note: The remote was in its own little bag that was cleaned after each lodger. The bathroom was big with a huge walk-in shower. One small criticism: When one entered the bathroom the fan went on and it was quite noisy. The bathroom also could have been a little brighter. There is a large breakfast room and a tasty breakfast. There were fluffy scrambled eggs, generous slices of ham, delicious sausages, waffles, fruit, muffins, cupcakes, toast, juices, yogurt and tea and coffee. There were tvs in the breakfast room and there was also seating just outside the breakfast room Unfortunately, we did not have time to swim in the indoor pool, but it looked clean and inviting. The hotel was very quiet and clean. We most certainly will stay here again. The view from the hotel window was not particularly good, but that really didn't matter since we had all the other amenities that were really important. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Not bad, kids used pool, nice and warm. Room small but clean. View from room 427, yucky. Free breakfast was ok. Harvey's across the street, restaurants very close by. I would stay here again but I think it's a bit overpriced.
It was within walking distance to the hospital where we had to be.The staff was very friendly & helpful especially the front desk & breakfast room, the breakfast was okay, the room & bed was ok,only the noise coming from the drinks machine during the night, good for a short stay, lots of parking.
I got a good nights sleep as bed was very comfortable. Room was quiet, little noise from hallway and no noise from highway. Blinds worked well to darken room. Lots of room to park in well lighted parking lot. Did not use pool but it did look good.
The hotel is clean comfortable and easy to find from 401. Breakfast was good and better than many of the type we have had in other hotels. Perfect for a short stay while travelling. A short drive to restaurants and shopping plus Fast food restaurants across the parking lot.
Spent last night here, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was okay. Staff were very friendly, nice small pool. It was very quiet considering how close it is to the 401. We would definitely stay here again
Very good, clean hotel. Will stay again when in that area. I was there for work and the rooms are very clean, assistants were great. Cost is average. No restaurants within walking distance for a nice suit down meal.
Beautifully renovated, comfortable beds/pillows, decent breakfast, excellent exercise room, great value. Front Desk staff were amazing - Rachel answered all our questions, and accommodated all our requests. Easy access.
The signage on and around this hotel is terrible. It was dark, and raining heavily, and no signage was visible from road. Found it quite by accident. Staff friendly, room and hallways were very clean. Free breakfast was very good.
This was our last stop on a 5 week trip to the USA south west, Utha area and we were glad to choose this spot on our return back in Ontario. The greeting host was very polite and handled a room change request promptly a ckeck in. The pool was also a great spot to unwind after an 8 hour drive through Michigan and southern Ont.
Great value for what Best Western does best..large, clean room and excellent customer service. Check in was fast and friendly. Room was perfectly clean and quiet. Only complaint was there was no bath tub, only a mammoth shower
Here with sons hockey team this past weekend. "Janice" at the front desk was crusty and rude as we checking in. Never offered or told us about free wifi and seemed ticked we all there with young kids. However - the younger desk assistant was awesome. I found dirty sheets and she was notified to say the least. She got me all clean bedding and apologized profusely. I believe she was grossed out as I was (poop smear covered by end of bed runner) Breakfast was fine. The staff person again was crusty and didn't know how to turn on the juice machine....which she then admitted she turned off the day before. Pool is older but kids don't care!! Just wish the older staff members realized - THEY WORK IN HOSPITALITY.
The location was perfect for what we needed.. the hotel was quiet and the beds were beyond comfy...the breakfast bar was perfect for what we wanted. I would stay at this hotel again. I will look for a Best Western Plus in my future travels.
Upon checking in we were directed to our room on the third floor. When we entered the room had not been cleaned. I called down and spoke to "Rachel" she apologized and said she would meet us on the second floor. When we reached the second floor we were unable to bring the cart with all our luggage and dog kennels to the room because of a stair. Rachel helped me carry all our stuff to the room. After she left we noticed this room had no clean towels s I called back down to the front desk and Rachel saved the day again bringing us up a supply of towels herself. I usually would have been ready to complain and look alsewhere, but thanks to Rachel I was satisfied and stayed. The rest of the weekend went well
We booked a room at the Best Western ( Bowmanville) and were extremely pleased with the room, the service and especially the Continental Breakfast. If I am ever in Bowmanville again I would surely book this Motel. Very clean and the people at the front desk were very polite and very helpful. Time of booking was Aug.15th--2015.
We stayed here on a recent cycling trip in early August 2015. This hotel recently became a Best Western and is located at the 401 and the Liberty Street exit, just as you pass under the overpass heading north on the west side, in Bowmanville, Ontario . It is located in a shared parking lot with a Harvey's/Swiss Chalet fast food plaza. This hotel is smallish with I think 52 rooms. I think there is a pool and the room includes a hot continental breakfast. They also have cold drinks in a small fridge and some snacks in the lobby by the front desk. The front desk staff were very friendly. We were permitted to bring our bikes up to our rooms which is so nice. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The beds are sooo comfortable and the pillows, oh the pillows heavenly. I wish mine at home were as comfortable. Needless to say we slept very well. I would stay there again on our next trip to the area.
One criticism I have is that the curtains do not close so the room stayed light. I live in the country so am not used to the light from the city lighting the room plus when the sun rose so did I. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. It is also very easy to access the 401. The hall signage to get to the elevator is also poor but that's being pretty picky.
We had a few problems before we even showed up to the hotel. I had booked two rooms with king beds, and when i called to confirm ( i didn't get an email confirmation?) they said that we were in one room with two queens. I asked her to switch us, and she said they were full. i was confused.......i asked to speak to a manager and she wasn't available, so i gave her my number and asked her to call me when she is in. No Response. The rooms were okay. Not exactly the cleanest, and the bathroom was more of a shoilet? It was just a room with a shower, toilet and sink. Very odd. no door to the shower, so we were walking in water if we needed to use the bathroom after someone showered. The front desk staff would hang out in the room directly behind them, and we could see them when we were checking out, and they failed to come to the desk, even though they saw us. we were very polite, i didn't want the fact that they messed up our reservation to ruin the weekend for us. So i kindly said, hello to them in the back and she finally came out. I wouldn't stay here again, i know bowmanville is small and there are not a lot of hotels, but i would drive the extra mileage from Ajax instead of staying here.
