"Good value hotel with excellent customer service"

5
cooperjmjs, Rugby, United Kingdom 10/10/2019

The hotel was excellent value for money with everything you need, clean, comfy bed, good food etc. What was a refreshing change was the extremely positive helpful attitude of the staff. The receptionist in particular was friendly and extremely helpful. Will certainly use this hotel again.

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning cooperjmjs, Thank you for taking the time to put a fantastic review! All our staff are brilliant and extremely helpful and for someone else to see it makes it even better Thank you Kind Regards, Michael Assistant Manager

"40th Birthday Celebrations"

5
User 10/10/2019

I booked the Ambassador Suite at the Everglades Park Hotel for my 40th Birthday Celebrations. I dealt with Jessica at the hotel to organise the event, she was very helpful and friendly. There were plenty of buffet options and they arranged the DJ for me and helped with room decorations. On the night, everything set up for me, the function room looked fab and it all ran smoothly. I also booked a room at the hotel to stay overnight. The staff on the reception were very welcoming and helpful. The room was probably a little dated if I'm being picky but was spotless and very comfortable. Overall a very enjoyable stay - thank you :)

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Cheryl, Thank you very much for taking the time to put a fantastic review on. Jessica is an amazing sales manager and she will be extremely grateful for the kind words you said. Thank you for everything and we hope to see you again! Kind Regards, Michael. Assistant Manager.

"Bad experience"

1
User 09/10/2019

Booked this based upon the reviews, they must have been staying at another Hotel with the same name. Checked in, went to the room, tired decor, went into the bathroom and a towel was hanging on the hook behind the door and it was damp. Went to dinner, waited as requested by the sign, waited and waited then somebody came with the greeting of "there is a 45 minute wait for food", the place was empty. Chose the burger, the meat was a low quality tasting of gristle and not cooked well. Breakfast the next day starts at 06:30, well it does as long as you dont want hot food, I left for work at 06:50 and the beans and sausages had just arrived, nothing else. Got back to my room late, hadnt been touched, not refreshed. The damp towel was still on the back of the door, went to reception to be greeted by "there is nothing we can do now"! Is that good customer service, is that an acceptable reply? Dinner was passable, went for the homemade Chilli, I could hear the microwave ping from my table! Nest day, breakfast again late with the hot food, didnt wait and sat down to be greeted by that familiar morning greeting, "what room are you in?" I asked for poached eggs on toast when I arrived (about 06:30), by 06:50 hadnt arrived, ask where they were and I could tell by her expression that she had forgotten to order, excellent service. Returned to my room that evening, towel still behind the door. Room had the bed made and a fresh towel, nothing else and no apology. Went to dinner and again the greeting was a long wait for food, not hello would you like a table, had a quick meal and left. In the morning, same breakfast ritual, decided to check out. When travelling on business you just want the basics done, this Hotel cant even get that right, surly staff who dont care and a lack of base processes. If you are travelling on business, dont stay here and I certainly wont again.

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Neil, I would like to start off with apologising for your stay not being up to your expectations, our hotel is something we are always proud of and to hear this surprises me massively. First of all, I would like to apologies for the towel situation. I will be speaking to housekeeping to see why this was left on the back of the door because as a hotel we know this isn't acceptable. With regards to the wait of the food this isn't how restaurant is, our restaurant is something we take very high pride in and this has surprised me. I can apologise with regards to the wait and the way the food tasted. Breakfast is plated when the restaurant has a small amount of people in, the breakfast will only only be self-severed when the hotel is very busy. When you mention about the food being brought out late, this will be due to the breakfast staff keeping on top of the breakfast and bringing out fresh beans and sausage. We do not own a microwave and the 'ping' noise you would've heard will be the chefs pressing the bell button to make the staff aware the food is ready for service. All our staff always say good morning so this again has surprised me massively. If i can be anymore help please ring the hotel on 0151 495 5500. Kind Regards, Michael Assistant Manager.

"Awful"

Gavin C, Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom 08/10/2019

I'm struggling to say anything good about this place. The hotel looks tired. The room is basic. The bed creaked if you move an inch and the mattres was so uncomfortable. It sloped on one side. I nearly fell out twice overnight when I rolled too close to the edge. Breakfast was dried out where it had clearly been under a lamp. To add insult to injury a false alarm on the fire alarm soon after going to bed. Turned off just after rushing out.

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Galvin, First of all I would like to start off by apologising for the problems you en-counted when you stayed at our hotel. As a hotel we take pride in our business and the decor maybe a little outdated but its somethingIf we are looking to improve, the hotel is having bedrooms renovated. However, we can only do a certain amount each time. Our beds are all super king size beds but if you would like to call me on 0151 495 5500. Once again, please accept my apologies. Kind Regards, Michael Assistant Manager.

"Super convenient with great food"

Karen E, United Kingdom 07/10/2019

I stayed with Everglades on a Bed, Breakfast and evening meal rate - super value for BW members so go and sign up- and was extremely well fed. Great self-service brekkie and though the evening menu was limited, because of my deal, the food was great. The chef even accommodated this greedy traveller by letting me having extra garlic bread with my super creamy garlic mushrooms - no Vampires near me that week !!!!!

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Karen, Thank you for your review! I'm glad we could live up to your expectations, I will make sure that the chef and our staff are made aware of how fantastic they have been whist staying with us. I hope we get to see you again very soon! Kind Regards, Michael Assistant Manager.

"50th wedding anniversary celebration"

5
User 30/09/2019

Well tbh I don't really know were to start but thank you, to jess and all the staff of the Everglades for making my mum and dads 50th wedding anniversary celebration so special. They had the most fantastic time. Our guests were warmly welcomed, the bedrooms are well presented and very clean, they all have a really fresh smell and are very comfortable. The presentation of our dining area was set out perfectly, so much so my mum cried when she saw it. The food was delicious, I couldn't fault it at all, please thank the chef and staff as they were polite and very efficient. The bar service was excellent, my dad would particularly like you to thank the bar staff on his behalf as they worked very hard. The breakfast was lovely, the morning staff were very accommodating. We all had a fantastic time that will be remembered by my family and friends for ever more. We will highly recommended the Everglades and all the staff for their excellent venue and welcoming attitude. Once again thank you jess it was a perfect night. Much love Lilian and Tommy Roche Kind regards Karen McBain, Family and friends

"Breakfast and burger very good. Chicken wasn't, steamed, and no garlic though listed as such."

3
PaulofYork, York, United Kingdom 26/09/2019

In fact the tower burger was amazing. Staff friendly, room clean although did smell like a swimming baths all week. Plenty of parking. I did complain about the chicken but was told it tasted like that due to the way they steam it and then put in the oven. The pasta bit was fine. I left all the chicken, I didn't have the time to order another meal. Surprisingly they still charged me for it, it wasn't me paying for it as on the business but short sighted of the staff re customer service. There is nothing around the place which is great for a good night's sleep.

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Paul of York Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am glad you enjoyed the tower burger but sorry to hear this was not the case with the chicken. As you mentioned your concerns to the staff I will look into why you was not offered a replacement for this and also speak to the chef regarding the description Without your feedback we can not improve on these issues so I do appreciate your comments and if you are returning to the hotel in the future I will make sure the Restaurant meets yours standards

Great place for an inexpensive place to stay over. Staff good. Rooms spacious and very clean. Lots of hot water, iron, board, hair dryer, heater and tea facilities in room. Lovely white soft towels. Bath and overhead shower. Free large car park.

"Great hotel, lovely staff"

4
srhwhitehead, South Wales, United Kingdom 04/09/2019

We stayed for 1 night at this hotel with all our family. The staff were very lovely and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The only issue I had was the shower head doesn't move so just sprays at you. I found this difficult after a long day I just wanted to quickly shower the children and get into bed. Instead i had to bath them which just took to long. We had breakfast included in our stay which was very nice but very busy.

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning srhwhitehead, Thank you for your feedback and this is something that we will look into to make sure this is improved for the next time you stay with us. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience caused due to the shower not being able to move. If you would like to contact me with any more information please call the hotel on 0151 495 5500. Once again I am sorry for the problems you encountered. Kind Regards, Michael Rowland Assistant Manager.

"Good Hotel in Good Location"

Maggie I, Glasgow, United Kingdom 02/09/2019

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay as we were going to a wedding nearby. The hotel was easy to find and the staff were very helpfull. Th e only thing that let the room down was the bathroom . Compared to the modern decor of the room it was a wee bit tired and really could do with a wee freshen up. The bed was extremely comforatable and i had the best sleep i have ever had in a hotel . Would thourghly recommed this hotel to others .

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Maggie, Thank you for your review! Also, thank you for taking the time to mention our staff! Our staff is something we are always proud of and I will make sure they know about your feedback. With regards to the bathroom, this is something I will bring up with our team to see if we can improve this for your next stay. Kind Regards, Michael Rowland Assistant Manager

We had our wedding here on 24 August, after a few hiccups the day before with room bookings I could not fault the hotel or staff. Angela sorted the rooms out, Sabrina on reception was always smiling and so friendly, waiting on staff were superb and Kieran, Michael and night time reception staff were superb. Nothing was too much trouble. We had an amazing day. Staff are so professional, pleasant and go out of their way to help you. Everyone had a great day and evening. Thank you so much.

I went for a wedding which was great Venue and amenities great. But the prices for the drinks was crazy £5 a pint and £5 a bottle of beer£2.60 for a tonic It spoils the night because you're there for a wedding they charge what they want. I will not recommend this place to anyone

Angela_Keighley, Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Stephen, I'm sorry for the price of our drinks, this is something that is discussed with our head office and I will mention this next time we come across. Hopefully we can see you again soon, if there is anything else you would like to discuss please ring me on 0151 495 5500 Kind Regards,

Stayed for wedding booked family room and ended up with one room with double bed . This was not expected as couple with son aged 14 at 6.5ft tall . Was given a camp fold out bed which was not acceptable. Staff did try and make things better but this did not help.

Angela_Keighley, Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Kelly, I am very sorry that you wasn't given the room you was hoping for, If you could ring me on 0151 495 5500 to discuss this more. I will also check your reservation to see what room you was allocated and why it wasn't a family room. Kind Regards, Michael Rowland. Assistant Manager.

"Disgusting company - discriminatory"

1
Abbie C, Manchester, United Kingdom 11/08/2019

Absolutely disgusting company. My grandma and grandad wished to stay here for their diamond wedding anniversary however due to the fact they do not use bank cards could not. They only use cash and cheques due to their ages of 95 and 92. They wished to pay for the room in cash which was allowed however due to paying cash they wanted a bank card to pend 50£ from in case they caused damage to the room. However they did not have a bank card and got refused their stay. This is discrimination at best. Discriminating against the elderly!!!

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Abbie, I am deeply sorry that the hotel did not reach the expectation you was hoping for. As regards to the pre-auth situation if you could ring me whenever you can. I am in the hotel until half 2 this afternoon the number to ring is 0151 495 5500. I would like to get this sorted and dealt with as soon as i can. As a hotel we do not discriminate anybody, we try to make sure all our guest have a smooth and comfy stay. Hopefully we can get this sorted for you and your grandparents. Please do accept my apologise once again. Kind Regards Michael Assistant Manager

"Friends wedding reception "

ryancS5303IQ, Liverpool, United Kingdom 04/08/2019

Arrived at the hotel to check in 2 people behind the desk only 1 checking in customers. Went to my room and it was very basic no air con or even a fan in this hot weather. Went down to the wedding reception to be told there was no alcohol on draft can't believe they didn't sort this. I got a double Jack Daniel's and coke £7.80 the coke was flat, all the fridges were at 9 degrees or higher everything was warm all night, they just had a sign up saying sorry no draught. Someone come over to say the door needed closing it was really warm he said the neighbours complain... he went away after we said how warm it is half and hour later he come back said the door really has to be shut now it's late (10.30pm) we again said how warm it is he said oh i can put the air con on.... why wasn't this on anyway with how warm it is!! Warm drinks and warm rooms!

Angela_Keighley, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Ryan I am sorry you experienced a delay in checking in usually we have 2 receptionists on busy times so this may of been the receptionist had left the desk for some reason . As regards the fans in the room we are looking into purchasing some extra fans for the bedrooms as we have had some very warm weather recently and believe it or not some guests have been known to take them out of the rooms so this can be ongoing. We had experienced problems with the beer lines over the weekend and although we called the engineers out this was out of our control so we bought in extra bottles and reduced the cost to try and compensate the best we could Due to the hotel being in a residential area guests are advised when booking the venue that the outside area must be closed 9.30pm as there are houses close by . I have been in contact with the bride and groom regarding these issues but happy to discuss your complaint if you wish to contact the hotel direct on 0151 495 5500 Kindest Regards Angela

Came back for a night's stay after spending s week in the Isle of Mann as part of a coach holiday package. Hotel new we were due in for an evening meal. The service was terrible. Waited 15 mins after we had a starter before anyone came back with a main course for one guest. A further 10 minutes later i was served. Hotel is clean but the management need to train their staff alot better.

Angela_Keighley, Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Mr Chapman, Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you found the hotel to be clean, but I am sorry that you experienced a long wait for your evening meal. We have recently changed our banqueting technique with regards to coach parties and we are finding that it does generally work better. We do however take your feedback on board and we aim to ensure quick service 100% of the time. I can assure you that next time you visit us, these issues will have been resolved, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Friends wedding reception "

User 02/08/2019

When me and my husband checked into the hotel at 4 pm none of the pumps was working,so no lager/ cider available, bottles only. My friend who's wedding reception it was was reassured that this problem would be ‘sorted' but this continued throughout the evening, bottles only. All soft drinks was flat and wine was warm. This caused my friends (bride and groom) unnecessary distress as it was suppose to be the perfect evening. No one spoke to the bride and groom to explain this problem couldn't be rectified a sign was just put that no draught was available for the evening, this was completely unacceptable and guests was complaining to the bride and groom about this which was completely out of there hands. The manager should of spoke to the bride and groom regarding this problem before the guests arrived, knowing this wasn't going to be rectified. A number of guests left early because bottles and mixers was warm. The hotel is a lovely hotel and rooms are basic but very clean.

Angela_Keighley, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon vonusher80, Thank you for your review. We are in contact with the Bride and Groom at the moment regarding the issues you have stated above. We cannot apologise enough that the bar was not at it's usual standard. This was completely out of our control, we really did want the pumps to be back in action as soon as possible! As soon as we were aware of the issue we called the engineers out to fix the problem. Unfortunately they were unable to attend in a timely manner, but we did do everything in our power to offer you an alternative product. We went out and bought extra bottled beers for the bar, and also reduced the price of the bottled beers by at least £1.10 each. You have mentioned that the drinks were flat, but the pumps were off and we were serving bottled beers, so I am unsure of how this could happen? The engineers have spent well over 8 hours in the building since the date of the wedding and we now have fully functioning bars. I personally spoke to the Bride on the night of the wedding. I didn't have many details on my function sheet, so I made sure to go through the timings with her on the night of the wedding. We added a cake cut and a first dance onto the schedule, and we also confirmed buffet timings and timings for the act to perform. It was during this conversation that we also spoke about the bar situation, in which she accepted that we have done all that we can. The Bride was lovely on the night and we got along really well, so I am quite shocked that you are under the impression that we did not speak to her! Thank you very much for your comments with regards to our hotel being "lovely". We appreciate these kinds of comments and we hope to see you again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

My other half decided to take me on a last minute night away and chose the Everglades in Widnes. We have stayed a couple of hrs ago. Well I have to say. To say most of the people who worked there who we dealt with were youngsters. They were absolutely fantastic. All happy, friendly and could not do enough for us. The young man who served us our meal was a lovely young man. Michael on reception was exceptional. All the waiting on staff were also lovely. We will be returning. And to the Management. please pass this praise onto the lovely group of young people who you have at this hotel. And hang on to these Diamonds. Good staff are hard to come by. Absolutely brilliant and we really enjoyed our stay.

Good Evening Mystine28, Thank you so much for your amazing review! We are so grateful for such positive feedback, it makes all of our hard work worthwhile. "Meal presentation outstanding"

JulieF405, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom 18/06/2019

I was not expecting a Best Western to be this good ! A coach party of us (39) on our way back from Scotland stayed one night at this hotel. The evening meal was excellent; presentation top marks, tasty, piping hot, really good 3 course evening meal. The overall feeling of this hotel was very comfortable. We had a very large room (I think a family room); quiet, light and airy. Adequate TV size; comfy bed; plentiful tea/coffee etc in the room.

"Not a great start."

User 17/06/2019

On arrival we were met by a very rude and uncooperative receptionist. This is not the kind of first impression that a hotel should present to new guests. There was a horrible smell in the room when we finally got in. We won't return to this place because of this experience.

Attended a wedding and stayed over night, the day was ran really smoothly by Emma, no complaints everyone had a fab time, thank you! The party was amazing, and Kieran was a great help all night getting us our drinks really speedy even though it was busy! Afternoon food service was great, Beth and Jacob gave really good service throughout the day too. Thanks to Ian for sorting all the food out too, everything was brilliant! Breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and they also serve later on a weekend too, perfect! Thanks to all for such a fab day x

Attending as a guest. A large bright room. There was even a small balcony. Bar area small, service was slow due to lack of staff although they worked very hard to keep the guests served. Ladies room very clean. Buffet was fine, cultery clean. Clearing staff very hard working and kept circulating the room clearing tables and glasses

"Poor cleanliness"

We stayed at the Best Western with a group of our friends who were playing hockey. On returning to the hotel after the game a member of our team went to their room to go to bed. On pulling back the quilt they found blood on the sheets, when they complained and a member of staff came to have a look and things got worse, on pulling back the sheet and mattress protector they found the bed had been made over the top of a huge pile of blood. At 11:30 pm the manager gave them their money back and directed them to the nearest petrol station as they needed fuel to get to the hotel they now had to stay in and then told them that the room at the new hotel was £120 £60 more than they had paid for their room at the best western. I was disgusted that they offered no sort of compensation at all for the inconvenience and the fact that they had to drive out of town to their new hotel at 11:30pm!

"Avoid if you have dietary requirements"

Trip04190972367, Pontefract, United Kingdom 24/05/2019

Clean and comfortable hotel, poor understanding of dietary requirements and not much choice food wise. 2 plug sockets in the room nowhere near the bed so found it difficult as a business customer as a laptop two phones and an iPad to charge. Receptionist incredibly rude which was disappointing - didn't even say good morning or asked how my night was. In most hotels they will make sure you have a good check out experience so you leave feeling like you want to go back!!

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Trip04190972367, Thank you for your review. I am glad that you found our hotel to be comfortable and clean, however I do think we have a clear understanding of dietary requirements. Our chefs always use rubber gloves when preparing meals for a person with dietary requirements. In addition to this, separate pans and platters are used for cooking. Our staff are trained to ask the chef on duty about dietary requirements, just to be sure. May I apologise for the lack of plug sockets in the room, we are aware that this is a problem and so we have extension leads available at Reception should you wish to use them. Apologies for your check out experience, our receptionists usually get such positive reviews! I imagine they were just checking which room you were in so that they could check you out on the system. I realise that this is no excuse, I will have a chat with them about this. Thank you once again. We hope to see you again soon. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

I stay here roughly 3-4 days most weeks That says a lot about the staff and the service without lots of waffle! this week however they excelled themselves. My daughter called the hotel to let them know it was my birthday, as a result the fantastic staff staff made a real effort to make it special particular thanks to Emma ,Kieran, Danielle and katie. I mean how often do you get a piece of cheesecake with candles on ??

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hey Frank! Thanks for your lovely review! I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday. You really are part of the family here, so we just wanted to make it special! See you next week. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

If you want to pay £89 a night for a basic room with dated furnishings, an uncomfortable bed, and guests smoking in front of the reception door as you walk in then stay here. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Once again back in the North to a friendly and helpful welcome. A comfortable nights sleep and a freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choice the next morning. Well done BW. I have been coming here for at least 5 years and it has been as consistent on every visit.

"Very nice and helpful staff"

User 28/04/2019

Currently staying here with my partner and dog, check out today. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and the grounds are maintained to a high standard. I am using this venue to get married in November which is testimony of my opinion of this hotel. Sure there are hotels with more stars but this is good value for money. I can without doubt ( having stayed in every hotel in the area) say that this is the best choice.

"Our wedding"

Helen P, Widnes 23/04/2019

Recently had our wedding reception at the Everglades, wedding breakfast was lovely and waiting on service was faultless. Our suite was lovely and our family and friends who stayed were also happy with their rooms. What did let the day down for us however was that despite booking the nighttime reception for 150 guests, the management thought it was acceptable to have just one member of staff behind the bar. This lead to my husband and I having to continuously complain, when we should have been enjoying our reception, and a lot of guests leaving after only one or two drinks as they couldn't get near the bar - this put a bit of a dampener on an otherwise wonderful day

"Watch out for weddings"

Booked for a Saturday night stay in April, chose this hotel as they accept dogs. On arrival booked in by Michael on reception desk who was by far the best thing about this hotel, extremely polite and very helpful. When he realised I was struggling with a back injury sustained earlier that day he changed our room to a ground floor one and as there was a wedding reception taking place he made a point of putting us as far from the bar area as he could so it would be quieter. The room was quite spacious and clean but the so called ‘high speed' WiFi was so slow and intermittent it was hardly worth bothering with. We had planned to eat at the hotel but to have a bar meal, this was not possible as the wedding reception was using that area so we went into the main restaurant area where we asked a waitress if we could order the bar menu from there, she told us to take a seat anywhere we liked, she then gave us menus for the restaurant meals only and said she would ask someone about the bar menu, 15 minutes later there was still no sign of her or any other staff members so we left and drove out to a local pizza takeaway and brought it back with us and ate in our room. It's quite possible that this hotel has ample staff when there is not a function taking place there but they certainly did not have anywhere near enough people there that day, so if you are looking to book a room it would be advisable to check they don't have a wedding booked for that day.

"Pretentious little pad! "

2
Poppycottage7, Grimsby, United Kingdom 17/04/2019

This hotel so masquerades as something its not! Don't be fooled by the pretentious ‘Everglades' name and your room view isn't a pretty garden - it's a car park! As a business user even I expect a standard I consider acceptable and this tired, outdated hotel barely covers that. The service wasn't that good, the food average and the room whilst serviceable wasn't great. I wouldn't stay again by choice. There are far better local hotels offering a higher standard at a similar price. Moral of the story - don't group book here again!

"Good staff, poor hotel"

User 15/04/2019

Staff very helpful and welcoming. Rooms, although very clean, are very dated and worn out. The mattress on the bed was completely knackered, various fixtures in the bathroom falling off, TV remote batteries were held in with tape and only worked when they was pushed in hard.

You would not say it from the outside but from the minute you walk through the doors you come across the most friendly reception. The staff are absolutely magnificent with a special shout out to Charlotte in the dinning room. The rooms are just perfect with clean fresh sheets and awesome views by day and night. Nothing cluttering up your space. The food is just dreamy, full of flavour and gorgeously presented. I absolutely loved my stay and would definitely recommend Best Western.

"Well worth a stay!"

Reading some of the reviews, we weren't sure what to expect. We were happy to find a great little hotel with friendly check in staff and clean rooms with any basics you would need. The restaurant was amazing, the food cooked to perfection, topped off with very friendly and accomodating staff. We will definitely recommend visiting the Best Western again. Special mention of Charlotte in the restaurant, she was so sweet and helpful and nothing was too much to ask. She is a great asset to your establishment.

Stopped for one night on business. Reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Room was clean, a little rough in places but the bed and pillows were very comfy, leaving me with a good nights sleep. The restaurant was ok too, lovely steak cooked to my liking. Service was ok. Bar area was in need of work though. Wouldn't stop on my money but absolutely would on the firms.

"Don't bother....."

Sven H, Scunthorpe, England, United Kingdom 21/03/2019

On first look this place looks reasonable, but walk through the reception doors and it's a different story. The place is stuck in the 70's, It looks like that's when it last saw a lick of paint. Rooms are very dated. The TV is ancient and took about 15 mins to "warm up". Reception and bar staff must have had lessons on how to be unhelpful and look miserable. The only thing remotly average about this sad encounter was breakfast. Not brilliant but passable. My first judgement of detail of cleanliness in hotels are TV remotes....as you can see from my photo, this failed my test muserably. I'll not be returning.

"Awful would not recommend"

User 17/03/2019

I would not stay here as there is no pool or anything like that even though it shows it on pictures and on the map. when we were trying to sleep all's there was is banging and the walls are really thin so you can here others tv and things like that. we got woken up three times by the cleaners coming in with their own key card whilst we was asleep and not even knocking, they tried to kick us out even though we had a 2 night stay not 1 and they also tried to tell us when we were trying to leave that we had to leave 11 even though we had a late checkout of 12 . there was no spa or any facilities that is says it does. It was not clean as the kettles were absolutely disgusting and not clean and there was so much dust, on our first time in the bar we found behind the couch a mouldy cocktail glass and it made us feel sick.

"Wedding"

3
User 08/03/2019

I got married on the 9th of February. We had a really good day but the organisation was extremely poor. For the price I would look elsewhere as there is better venues available for the price. The wedding breakfast was poorly organised (food brought out extremely slow, extra sauce brought out after the meal was finished etc). We payed for 2 glasses of wine per person which we didn't receive ( extremely disappointed) and the bar for over 100 wedding guests only had one bar tender on! My dad asked if they had a microphone for the speeches and was told by the general manager 'people don't do speeches anymore' on the day of the wedding. Don't bother with the bridal suite to get ready in, they didn't have proper chairs and there weren't any windows so a very hot room for all the girls. Lots of the staff were lovely but I wasn't happy with an unprofessional response from management after bringing these issues to their attention. I would have liked a positive response to ensure this didn't happen again for other bride and grooms. Instead the manager refuses to admit fault which is such a shame as this could be a good venue.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Laura! I hope you are well and you are enjoying married life! I am so so sorry that you feel the need to write this review on here. It saddens me deeply that you feel your wedding day was tainted in any way. We take every single wedding extremely seriously and would never intentionally want to ruin anybody's special day. I happened to be in on the day of your wedding so I will address each of your points in turn. You have mentioned that the wedding breakfast was served in a slow manner. You had 110 guests and we finished serving within 1.5 hours. I truly am sorry that you feel this is slow, but it is within the allocated time that we had previously arranged at your final details meeting. The wedding day ran to time, but I understand what you are saying and sometimes with a large number of guests it seems as though those at the back of the room are waiting a while for their food. There are other banqueting techniques we could try in future to prevent this happening again, perhaps splitting the team in two and serving both sides of the room at the same time. Overall it would still be completed within the 1.5 hours allocated, but it may seem a little quicker to the wedding guests. With regards to the sauce, it is poured over your meal before it is delivered to the tables, and then extra is served in gravy boats as the potatoes and vegetables go out. It more than likely will have been the last thing to be placed on the table, but I do disagree when you say it came out when you had already finished. You say you didn't receive the wine with the meal. We poured once after the starters, and then once again after the main courses. In your letter to John you mentioned that "some people" didn't receive their second glass, suggesting that the majority did. I am sorry you feel you did not receive your full allocation. This is more than likely due to the occasional guest refusing more wine due to their glass still being full. Everyone drinks at different paces. We asked you multiple times throughout the day if everything was going well and nothing was ever mentioned. Within reason, had you mentioned this issue on the day we would have been more than happy to tend to the few that had missed out. I do believe that we have spoken to you about this separately though and the issue has been resolved. I have checked the rota for this day and I can see that we had 2 bar staff on, plus 5 waiting on staff. 2 of the waiting on staff were multi-trained and could jump on the bar when needed. May I apologise on behalf of John, our General Manager - I'm sure he didn't mean it to come out this way! Perhaps there was a slight error in communication. Most weddings have speeches and of course we are aware of this, hence why the sparkling wine is included in the package. When you say the bridal suite doesn't have any windows, do you mean La Belle Suite -The room where the Bride and Bridesmaids get ready on the morning of the wedding? You're right, there aren't any windows but it shouldn't have been hot as there is air conditioning in there. I am glad you found the majority of the staff to be lovely, and it truly was a pleasure for myself and Emma to be part of your special day. We really do enjoy our jobs and it breaks our hearts to think that you are upset with the way your wedding went on the day. After all, it's every girl's dream to be involved with such special occasions! I hope that you understand that we are not denying fault, but simply offering explanations and perhaps a different point of view. Thank you for choosing to have your wedding here, and I wish you both every happiness for the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"'Best' experience?"

helpthejuggler, Royal Wootton Bassett 05/03/2019

Location is good, parking plentiful. Checked in by Michael who was very helpful. Room 226 is located away from the main part so should be quiet and seemed OK at first. A wedding has taken over the bar area leaving only a few seats in the quiet restaurant area. Not sure why one of the 'two magnificent banqueting suites' was not used for the weddng or offered to guests as an alternative bar. We only had a quick drink and decided to go elsewhere for the evening as the comfort level and service available did not match the drink prices. Our sleep was interrupted by 2 inconsiderate guests at 5:00am talking very loudly outside the room about which was their room. At 8am a sub-human in adjacent room making a 30 minute call has not figured out a telephone removes the need to shout, their only volume level seemed to be stupidly loud. Hot water and a comfortable bed so the rooms just need the minor problems with room plumbing (very noisy) and bathroom vanity light not working. Breakfast was good food, lots of staff but had to ask for bowls, teaspoons, cups and juice so took longer than expected. We were little late checking out (10 minutes or so), the desk was unstaffed. Short wait ...the 'North West Inhospitable receptionist of the year' berated us for being late. Then mid check out was quite dismissive to another guest, then as we left was doing her level best to discourage a couple considering a function they were planning. If the rest of the experience was as good as the welcome and helpfulness of Michael, the review would have been so much more positive.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon helpthejuggler, Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read that you found Michael to be helpful and friendly on check-in. He is the newest member of our reception team and he is settling in wonderfully! You have mentioned that the wedding should have been in one of the banqueting suites, and it was indeed just that! The Biscayne Suite is connected to The Biscayne Lounge. Over the weekend, you're right when you say that the restaurant is quieter. This is often the case as most guests would be with the wedding. We have recently added extra sofas and lower tables to the Restaurant Bar area as we have received comments like these before. I am confident that if we had opened up another function suite for residents to use as a bar, you would have most likely mentioned a lack of atmosphere. We foresee these sort of issues and do our best to accomodate all of our residents. I am sorry you were awoken by other guests in the corridor. Had you let us know of these phonecalls then we would of course asked the guest to reduce the volume. I would like to offer an explanation as to why the receptionist you met with on check out may have been slightly short with you. On the morning of your departure, there happened to be a life or death situation in the hotel, therefore she had been awfully distracted that morning. I realise that this is no excuse, but hopefully you will be able to sypathise and understand now that you are aware of the situation she was in. Thank you once again. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Nice overnight stay"

rocialle, Bedford, United Kingdom 03/03/2019

We chose this hotel purely on the basis of it being pet friendly as we were travelling with our four-legged friend. Booked via the website and got a special winter rate inclusive of breakfast with a fee of £10 to pay for the dog upon arrival at the property. As we arrived it was good to see there was plenty of parking available even though they were hosting a wedding reception. Check-in staff were very friendly and we were quickly & efficiently assigned room 115 on the ground floor. The room had a king size bed and was nicely furnished with plenty of room under the window for the dogs duvet. One minor quirk in the room was the lighting, all of the lights were fed from one switch so they were either all on or all off. When travelling with the dog we like to leave a light on in the room overnight, we got round this by leaving the vanity light in the bathroom switched on. There is not much in the way of exercise space on the property for those travelling with dogs and certainly not enough to even consider allowing them to run free. A quick google search revealed an absolute gem only 4 minutes drive from the hotel. Victoria Park is excellent for dog walking and even has a completely enclosed dog park ideal for those with concerns over recall or just nervous about their dogs when travelling. We decided against having dinner in the hotel restaurant and instead opted for a takeaway in front of the tv from one of the many establishments available within a very short drive of the hotel. I must mention that even though there was a wedding reception in the main bar and function room provisions were made for the hotel residents to use the bar area inside the restaurant and this still appeared to be operating normally. The room was very quiet and we were far enough away from the bar & function room not to be disturbed by the music, hallway noise was minor and not particularly intrusive and there was complete silence all night after the last of the revellers retired to their rooms. Breakfast in the morning was very good and it was hard to see why some people feel this falls short of expectations. Unfortunately I must end this review on a negative comment and that is the current arrangements for smoking outside the main entrance of the hotel. It is completely unreasonable to expect your guests to walk through second hand cigarette smoke to enter and exit your property and I found this aspect of my stay with you very unpleasant indeed.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Rocialle, Thank you for such an honest review, I am so pleased to read that you enjoyed your say here and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future. "LAST MINUTE £39 DEAL"

3
katone1, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom 05/02/2019

We booked Everglades park hotel very last minute for a Saturday night . For just £39 we had a king size room with breakfast included . On arrival staff were friendly and helpful, we asked about local eateries and were given some sound advice. Once checked in we entered room 205 on the 1st floor . A good size room if a little basic. It was a very cold weekend and the room was freezing but the wall heater soon sorted that issue . We decided to grab a taxi to a local bar and the staff were very accommodating in sorting this for us . Whilst waiting for the taxi we entered the bar and sadly that was a little disappointing both Tap lagers we ordered were empty so we had to settle on bottled beer and over £4 each it was a little steep and not as cool as one would like . We had a comfortable night , and went for breakfast but that was very chaotic , the array of breakfast things was untidy and things were missing ie no where for used t bags or other rubbish . Hot food not being replenished .In fact i was told chef had gone to the shop because they had run out of bacon . I passed up on a hot breakfast then and stuck to tea and cereal . If i had paid a greater rate this would have irked me but not on a £39 cheap deal . All in all as the room and customer service stands alone we would return . Also we were lucky to get a late check out , explained we were in town for a christening and they extended our check out . Great service on the front desk .

Good Afternoon Stannery! Thank you for your review! It was lovely to meet you and I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the beers, we have now got this sorted and have a full selection on offer to our guests. With regards to the bacon, we have spoken to our supplier about this. We ordered 3 packets but only 1 came in on the day, so again I am sorry! I am glad you found the customer service to be of a high standard. We look forward to seeing you again soon. "Rude front of house!!! "

1
Bellawilltellya, Wilmington, United Kingdom 20/01/2019

Extremely rude, unhelpful, slovenly front of house staff!! Find it hard to believe you would employ a receptionist who can't put a sentence together, clearly has a speech impediment and lacks basic communication skills!! I tried desperately to inform this useless member of staff of a complaint... she grunted at me was unable to listen, understand or help!! By far the worst customer service I have ever received and just the fact you have such incapable, simple and brainless people represent this hotel is an embarrassment to the best western company!!

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Bellawilltellya, I have to say that I am absolutely astonished with this review. First of all, under no circumstances would we ever discriminate against applicants with disabilities. I am appalled that you would expect us to do so. It amazes me that you have chosen the word "rude" to describe the front of house staff, but then go on to describe the receptionist as "simple and brainless". I can assure you that our receptionists are quite the opposite of rude and are certainly not brainless in any way. I am sorry you have left feeling the way you did, obviously upset by your experience. You have mentioned that you were trying desperately to inform the receptionist of your complaint, yet haven't mentioned it in your review. Would you like to get in contact with us so that we can investigate the problems you faced and hopefully fix them for any future guests. I look forward to hearing from you. "An overnight stay"

3
Bettie_Booker, North West England 18/01/2019

WE stayed for one night as we were going to a reunion and it was conveniently located for the venue, so we could enjoy a few drinks without huge taxi fares for the night. I paid a special non-refundable low rate for members of the rewards programme, which if I hadn't I would have been very disappointed with the value. The lighting in the room was far too dim and you could either have it on or off, no option for individual bedside lights to be used. The cups on the drinks tray were mismatched, one large one small. Breakfast was disappointing, the orange juice was without any taste, the coffee had run out and we had to ask for it to be replenished, there was no alternate to butter for toast, and on our freshly cooked breakfast the bacon was hard, as were the poached eggs and the mushrooms missing from my husbands. It either wasn't actually freshly cooked, or the cook needs better skills or it had been waiting on the pass under heat lamps whilst the one member of waiting staff was dealing with other guests. Could do better really to live up to the BW franchise

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning Bettie_Booker, Thank you for your feedback. May I apologise that you did not enjoy your breakfast. The butter provided with the toast is an addition to the jams and marmalades that are provided on the individual breakfast tables. I do apologise for the coffee and orange juice though. This is not acceptable and we will of course be investigating in order to remedy the issues. I do hope this hasn't tarnished your opinion of us and we hope to see you again in the future. "Expect more from best western hotels"

2
526gs526, Dunfermline, United Kingdom 04/01/2019

Arrived in the dark but looked OK from outside. Took about 3 or 4 minutes to get anyone at the desk at 6pm. There was people in the office behind the front desk but chose to ignore my calls for assistance until someone finally came from the restaurant area. No apology for my wait. Room was down a long corridor away from the front desk to find my car didn't work. No apology from front desk. Room had an a joining door to another room so could here everything. Bed very uncomfortable. But room clean enough. Restaurant price didn't match the overall feel for the hotel and was over priced. Food quality was OK. Only 2nd night I found out the bar did food which was more reasonably priced but not advised of this as a eating option when I booked in. As for the bar £4.95 for a pint of cider......had to wait for service again. Very young staff obviously very stretched trying their best. I expect a lot more from best Western hotels.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning 526gs526, Thank you for reviewing Best Western The Everglades Park Hotel. I am pleased that you found the exterior of the hotel to be of standard. You say you arrived at 6pm. This explains why there would be staff in the back office. These would have been waiting on/bar staff arriving for their shift in the evening. Waiting on and bar are not trained on reception and this is more than likely the reason they did not come out to you. Although I do agree that one of them should have acknowledged you and gone to find the receptionist. I would like to apologise for your card not working. Occasionally this happens when it has been near a phone or contactless credit/debit card. I am glad that you found the room to be clean. Could I ask that you get in contact with the hotel via phone or email and let us know which room you stayed in? We are looking at new mattresses at the moment so it would help to know which rooms are a priority. Sorry you did not enjoy your experience in the restaurant, I am pleased to hear you did enjoy your meal in the bar on the second night. As I have said in a previous response, it is not that the staff are stretched but simply that they all work their hardest 100% of the time. We do not allow for standing around as there is always something to do. Once again, thank you very much for taking the time to feed back. We will be using these comments to make improvements in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Low cost wedding venue"

User 27/12/2018

Attended a wedding at this hotel and was largely disappointed. First impressions were poor due to tired mock spanish villa building exterior. Lots of green staining on rendering and exterior lighting in poor state of repair. Could do with re-painting. Welcome was encouraging despite the fact staff were visibly stretched. Wedding coincided with other event - Maybe owners took on more than they could cope with 2 simultaneous events. I found it a little disrespectful as all other venues I've been to will not run a second event during a wedding out of respect for the bride and groom. Unfortunately profit appears to have come first for this establishment on this special day. Food was ok and room was basic. Was shocked by the price of a popular childrens drink at the bar - 10 times the price in a supermarket. I feel for the neighbours - Toilet at the venue had clear glass allowing a clear view to the urinals from window of adjacent houses. Privacy glass would be more appropriate. Overall I would not recommend as a wedding venue, but looking at the prices think it could be a reasonable bed for the night for the occasional business traveller. Smokers seems to congregate just outside the main entrance door creating a choking cloud of second hand smoke every time you come in or out. Makes the whole place look very downmarket. Strongly recommend enforcing no smoking here - have a smoking area away from front of building.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning StJohn_seasoned_trav, Thank you for your feedback. The building has taken a bit of a battering over winter on one side. We are aware of this issue and have plans in place to maintain the paintwork in the near future. The mock Spanish villa exterior is actually based on The Everglades in Florida, hence the name of the hotel. It is a common occurrence that we would have two events on at one time, in no way did we take on too much. You have mentioned that the staff were stretched although the welcome was encouraging. Our staff work extremely hard and are not the type to stand around when there is work to do. Although it may appear that they are stretched, it is simply that they are working their hardest at all times. All brides and grooms are told at the point of booking that there could be another wedding or event on at the same time. We do not offer exclusivity and they are aware of this. Although the entrance is the same, the weddings/events are carefully managed by the events team with regards to the timings to ensue that they do not clash. In addition to this, the events then occur on different floors, have different outside areas and different bars/toilets/other facilities. I am sorry this upsets you but our Brides and Grooms have never had a problem with it before. With regards to our bar prices, we carry out regular market research and have found that our prices are in line with other local hotels. Supermarkets are a completely different kettle of fish and I feel you would expect to pay a little bit more at a hotel. We thank you once again and I can assure you that all feedback has been taken on board. If there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

Cheap and cheerful hotel made better by the excellent and friendly staff, special praise to Danielle who wrote precise step by step directions for our busy day. The directions were spot on and saved a great deal of anxiety and stress. Definitely would stay again. Thanks.

We come every year and are never disappointed with The Everglades. On arrival we were greeted and directed to our room, The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We were a party of 15 and everyone of our guests loved the Christmas Party night. The food was amazing and came out dead fast. We have already booked for next year and look forward to our next visist.

Came here on a work christmas night celebration and what a dissapointment, there was so many tables and the table i was on was the second to last table to get up for the main course at 9.40 pm the food was not very nice cold carrot and turnip, overcooked brussel sprouts that had gone to mush and gravy that was like water, the meat was cooked really nice sad nothing else was, we got served the dessert at 10.30 i had christmas pudding and rum sauce that was like water too, my experience at the bar was no better, on both visits to the bar i was served gin and tonic in a wine glass as they did not have any gin glasses available. the only good thing i have to say is how hard the young staff waiting on worked and they were very polite and friendly. I will not be reccomending this hotel or ever going again.

"A welcoming hotel."

Ottley, dover uk 14/12/2018

We stayed for three nights in October on a Shearing's coach tour. The hotel was well kept, attractive and with welcoming and attentive staff both at reception and in the restaurant. The room was homely and warm, and the food was good. Breakfast supplied all you could need with a hot buffet too, and dinner offered a special menu with a good choice of options. We were surprised to get this quality of hotel on a tour where we did not know where we would be staying until just a few days before departure.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Ottley, Thank you for your lovely review. I am so pleased to read that we exceeded your expectations. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Happy New Year from all of us at the Everglades. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

Tackuk, Stourbridge, United Kingdom 11/12/2018

Got booked in here by my company. On arrival the hotel looks very nice and I was greeted by a nice young lady on the desk who was more than helpful. I was initially given a room that hadn't been cleaned or made up but after a quick visit to reception the nice young lady soon sorted me out. The room themselves are basic, functional and clean. The bed was comfy and had plenty of pillows. Shower was nice and hot and belted out the water. Food was ok from the bar menu, had to leave the onion rings though as they was to dam greasy. Would recommend if your in the area.

"Lovely hotel, but staff need lessons in smiling"

Karen E, United Kingdom 07/12/2018

I stay up here at least once a year as its very convenient as a half-way point between my office and customers in Speke. However if you are a business customer that needs good wifi, I wouldn't recommend it, which is really sad because the hotel itself is lovely, the food is great and the sleep quality is perfect

"Christmas party"

1
Carole K, Liverpool, United Kingdom 05/12/2018

This is the third year of holding our Christmas party at this venue which has proved ideal. However, the service and food this year was a disaster!!! Two young boys serving in the bar to cater for approx 150 guests downstairs - utter chaos with long queues waiting to be served. The starters and desserts were okay but the vegetables served with the carvery were awful. They were overcooked and some were just a sloppy mess - I had the turkey which I have to say was very nice. Coffee/tea were offered, however, some of us had no cups and saucers and when cups did appear, we were told there were no saucers!!! Some of our party were still eating at 1100 pm. The staff, throughout the evening worked very hard and were very pleasant considering the circumstances. Sad to have to report this but feel the hotel is putting money above service ie "let's pack'm in."

We come every year and are never disapointed. Food excellent, staff polite and helpful, DJ had everyone up dancing. We all stayed over and the bed was one of the comfiest Ive slept in. Didn't make it down for breakfast but my friend did and she said it was good. A great night was had by all and we will certainly be returning next year.

"Got married here!"

5
User 03/12/2018

Had a beautiful wedding at this hotel. Got married in the pagoda in the garden then had the downstairs room for our wedding breakfast and evening reception. We have also been to the party nights at this hotel. The rooms are about 3 or 4 star and there is no swimming pool but there is a bar. The exterior of the hotel is unique and looks great. The breakfast buffet is good.

"Tired and dirty"

2
631jackiem, Manchester, United Kingdom 02/12/2018

When you arrive at the hotel it looks quite nice, once inside you can see it looks tired and needs a refresh The bedrooms were reasonable, the bed however has seen better days, the mattress has a big dip in it, which resulted in a poor nights sleep as it wasn't comfortable Breakfast was terrible, we paid £10 each, not worth it, the food is served in silver serving dishes, but the space is very limited and nowhere to put the lid down whilst trying to get the food out, the dishes look like they had been out for 2 hours without being changed as there was a lot of mess around each one The hash browns were very well done the bacon was hard and the eggs had seen better days, we had to ask for orange juice as it hadnt been replenished after other guests had drank it but to be fair it is something we could have done without as although it looked like orange it tasted like water The restaurant is in need of a deep clean, the floor is filthy, there is what looks like brown sauce up the wall and the bottom of the seats are torn This was a really disappointing stay

"Nice Hotel...but"

3
User 28/11/2018

First impression is really good but some downsides. Great staff, friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is superb. Also WiFi was good enough for work and Netflix. The room however, I would say requires updating. Heating didn't work (which was addressed promptly by staff), no power socket by bed and only one socket by the desk. Personally I found the bed uncomfortable and the walls a little thin as I could hear the bloke next door snoring at 0300 and also hear their shower going at 0500. The room and bathroom were both very clean and also throughout the hotel. What else was frustrating , was that the bar would not accept card/ Apple Pay for transactions below £15, did have the option to put drinks on my room bill, but I didn't want to do that. However a nice pint of Guinness so not all bad.

"Lovely check-in staff"

User 25/11/2018

Despite our late arrival, Natasha was warm, welcoming, efficient and friendly when checking us in. Room was great and more than we expected at the price. We didn't stay to use any facilities or have breakfast, so can't comment.

"Comfortable stay"

4
User 15/11/2018

We booked using a smart box voucher for a one night stay. The room was comfortable and clean, although it could do with a paint touch up in places. The restaurant menu was expensive so we ate out. We both slept well as the bed is very comfortable. The hotel is situated on a main road, but even though our room was at the front of the hotel, the noise wasn't too bad. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was nice, there was plenty available. We sat in the smaller area on the right for breakfast. But one thing I didn't realise until I had started to eat, was that the staff were clearing plates etc to see trolley near the service station. I work in catering, so I understand that this is an efficient way to clear. But it doesn't look great for guests who want a relaxing and enjoyable breakfast. It was also noisy when one staff member was stacking plates. If you want a comfortable stay with a nice breakfast then I would recommend this hotel.

"Sleep in, Eat out"

4
greenbeck, Cheltenham, United Kingdom 13/11/2018

Arrived for work and decide after trip up roadworked M6 to eat in. Menu was very expensive for what it was. It tasted good and was filling but for £26 one beer, one main and a pudding that would have been similar for much less at a Wetherspoons. Ate out in Warrington next night. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. The hotel is not situated in a great location but as I just needed somewhere reasonably priced to stay for visting work meetings in Warrington it worked fine. Staff were welcoming. The dining room had slightly less atmosphere than a railway waitng room but was more comfortable. No teapots and small cups. I asked for and got a mug that you could make a decent brew in. Why do any hotels think that morning tea can be served without a teapot and be thought of as meeting customer requirements? Would I stay here again? I would check out other options first but the bed might persuade me to return it was that good.

"Slow inattentive staff."

TsLondon79, London, United Kingdom 11/11/2018

Started off badly by having one member of staff on reception, and a long slow moving queue. With a back office full of staff members, and no apology for the wait. Room was adequate. Nothing fancy, not much better than a Travelodge. Breakfast. Not worth the money. Slowly filled selection. Considering it was quiet, staff seems to take ages to replenish buffet. And us and others had to constantly ask for butter, glasses and juice to be provided. Check out. Receptionist tried to charge us again for a room prepaid on ebookers. On getting another member of staff to check on pc. Was just told. It's ok. No apology again.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon TsLondon79, Thank you for your review. You seem to have complained quite a bit about our staff members. This is so unusual for us; we usually receive great feedback regarding the staff. Everyone here is so friendly and eager to help. In relation to the breakfast, I am sorry you experienced a slow service. I can only imagine that you came down during the rush and therefore the staff were incredibly busy. I appreciate this is not your fault and I hope you can understand and accept my apology. I hope to see you again soon. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

Having boomed for the boggie night and travel from Wolverhampton only to be told it was cancelled just 15 mins before it was due to start is unacpetable by any stardard but after emailing them and had a email back say they will look in to this and get back to us and up to yet we have heard nothing It was really upsetting as it was booked for the wfes birthday and we had fsmy members with us. And to be told by a member of staff that it was cancelled as not enough people were going The worste part is they never got bact to us wgen they said they would that tells me they dont care about there customers I will never use this hotel agai

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear grhmmoreton Firstly thank you for your feedback. You were e-mailed on both 1st August and 4th September by reception to explain to you that we had cancelled the evening due to low numbers and urged you to contact us so that we could refund you or transfer you onto an alternative night. This was both 6 and 4 weeks before the event which we feel was plenty of notice. When you arrived to check in we deeply apologised and advised we had emailed twice; with your wife confirming her e-mail address to us, this matched what we had. You then e-mailed us direct as you said above in your feedback to which I responded on 18th September explaining that we had e-mailed twice and forwarded these on to you so you could see the e-mail trail. You then e-mailed again saying you had not heard back and again I e-mailed back yesterday on 14th October with all the above e-mail trail. We responded to the e-mail you sent to us so we know this is the correct e-mail address. If you check your e-mail inbox or spam folder I am confident they will be there. Here at the hotel we are 100% committed to our guests and their experience with us and I feel the above supports this in every way. I am sorry that you made the long trip however, we did inform you on multiple occasions. Kind regards Zoe Seifert General Manager

Loopylou13, Portsmouth, United Kingdom 08/10/2018

You cannot fault the inside staff, plenty of them to find, all very helpful. We seem to have had a newer room as our sisters said there room was dated. Spent 2 night's there, wedding on both nights but we all couldn't hear the noise and had a great night sleep. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it, and however you wanted it. My sister had a problem when we checked out, but staff went to so much effort to help her, plus dealt with brilliantly by the manager. Our daughter and family came over to see us before we headed home, and we had a great get together with tea & coffee we didn't have a problem getting. Staff service excellent. Down side - on the Friday night the wedding party left a message outside in the patio area. I did report this Saturday. Saturday night wedding, guests used a cake still left on the table as an ashtray, plus glasses and bottles on the table. There was also broken glass around the tables. Once again I reported it. Someone did remove the glasses from the table, but nothing more. When we left, cake ashtray and glass not touched, we did see a lady sweep the entrance and that was all. We will definitely be back, but cleanliness of the front really needs to be looked at, as it lets it down.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Loopylou13, Thank you for your kind words. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay here at The Everglades Park Hotel. I remember speaking to your sister on check out, and I am so pleased to hear she found her purse! May I apologise for the mess left behind by the wedding party. I can however confirm that we have a new procedure in place whereby the nightporter will check for any mess at the front of the hotel overnight, and then the cleaners will go over the outside areas more thoroughly when they arrive at the hotel in the morning. Thank you for your comments all the same. All feedback is welcome and we will of course use it to improve the overall guest experience. We look forward to seeing you and your sister again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Lovely venue for our wedding"

4
User 07/10/2018

Got married here last Friday and we couldn't be happier. Negatives out the way first; drinks and restaurant are very pricey, if your not early for breakfast it's not very good, no room service and if your staying when there's another event on its not the quietest (we stayed an extra night after our wedding). But despite all of that and a hiccup created by an ex member of staff (that the hotel rectified) we were delighted with the effort and detail they went to. Evening meal was stunning! Rooms are nice and comfortable. But my biggest compliment is for their staff. Brilliant service, very friendly and can't do enough for you. If you stay here and have any issues, go and see them they will sort it for you. If your thinking of getting married here I would strongly recommend.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Graeme M, I am so pleased to hear that you had a great day! Honestly, it was a pleasure to be part of it. Thank you for your lovely comments towards our staff. I will certainly be letting them all know. It is excellent to hear that the minor hiccup you experienced was quickly rectified and that your special day was not affected at all. May I apologise that you did not enjoy your breakfast, this is something that we are working on. However, I can confirm that room service is available for breakfast. Once again, I am glad that you had an amazing wedding day and we hope to see you again soon! Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

gordonparkinson1952, Widnes, United Kingdom 05/10/2018

Pleasant surroundings and restaurant let down by a few issues. Basic menu that is a little overpriced. Meal well cooked although not all items on the menu were available. Mushroom starter replaced with a mushroom brochetta or mushrooms in sauce. Steak was cooked as requested. Omitted onion rings which came later on separate side dish. Sweet menu we asked for ice cream with no vanilla available. Coffee machine not working. Staff very friendly and was not rushed.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon gordonparkinson1952, Thank you for staying with us here at The Everglades Park Hotel. I am sorry you were disappointed with certain aspects of your stay, although I have to disagree with you when you say our menu is basic. Our A La Carte menu is a full A3 page with a choice of 8 starters, 11 main courses & 6 desserts. Our coffee machine is now up and running and all food items from our menu are now available. May I apologise if this was not the case on the evening of your stay. Thank you for your lovely comments regarding our staff members. I will pass the message onto the team. My Daughter had her wedding reception on saturday 22/9/18. As I live local I can't comment on the rooms, a lot of the guests did stay and generally everyone was happy, little problem with a double booking , but was resolved .we booked the wedding 18 months ago and from then until Saturday, I can't fault the service we recieved. They dealt with any request we made. The staff ( especially the young bar staff ) were extremely helpful and very efficient. The whole day went great, the meal was excellent, one of the best I,'ve had a wedding. The downstairs room and the lounge were perfect. The only negative would be, the drink prices are bit expensive and they need a smoking shelter instead of the entrance, but overall the day went great

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear ajlmarquees I am so pleased both your daughter, her new husband and all the family had not only a fantastic wedding day but experienced excellent service leading up to the big day itself too. I will be sure to pass on your wonderful comments to the whole team. I am glad that the minor booking error was dealt with swiftly and we will definitely take on board your comments with regards to the smoking shelter as we are always looking to make improvements to what we offer. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

Ate here last night with friends who were staying there, lovely warm cosy decor, staff friendly, small menu, we ordered sliced chicken breast with grated cheese over the top, it came with a salad! That was it! We were given a totally different menu to the one online? Not very impressed sadly.

"Clientele constant disruption"

2
User 03/09/2018

Hotel was clean, food was good. Avoid rooms in 215 onwards as WiFi (literally) non-existent. Either we stayed with 10's of loud, disruptive and generally unpleasant guests or the walls in the rooms are paper thin as constant chattering, clanging of plates and coutlery and abhorrently loud sex meant a good night sleep was impossible. Rooms were decent and the included breakfast was basic but tasty but that's about as far as the good news goes. Would not recommend.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Andy B, Thank you for taking the time to review The Everglades Park Hotel. I am glad that you found our rooms to be clean and our food to be of a high standard. I will pass your comments on to both our housekeeping team and the kitchen. With regards to the issues with the WiFi, we are aware there is a problem and we have in fact got our IT technician coming out tomorrow to have a look. As with anything (either at home or in our hotel), occasionally things do break down. Whilst it is unfortunate that you happened to be staying when the WiFi was down, I am sure you can appreciate that we are doing everything we can to get it up and running again as soon as possible. As for the noises coming from the other bedrooms, our night porters carry out regular corridor checks (every 45 minutes) to ensure that the bedrooms are quiet enough for guests to sleep in. Had you reported the couple adjacent to you, I am sure that they would have been asked to reduce the volume. I am pleased that you enjoyed your breakfast. Again, I will let our kitchen team know. It shocks me that you would not recommend our hotel, considering the only real problems were that the WiFi was down (which will be fixed as of tomorrow), and that you were situated next to a loud couple, (a problem that can easily be rectified upon reporting). Hopefully you will change your mind, we hope to see you again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

shakespeare076, Tamworth, United Kingdom 28/08/2018

Rooms clean except for ceiling cobwebs and cobwebs on curtains. Mattresses really lumpy and worn out - noisy springs and very uncomfortable. Didn't get a good night's sleep. Gin Bar - complete joke as they want to charge top whack but don't have any of the advertised ingredients, such as blackberries or cucumber. Also they're charging more than the advertised prices! What hotel doesn't have any cucumber?!? Come on - get a grip. The “pint” of lager cost £4.70 and having measured it, the serving was about 480ml which is a LONG WAY short of a pint (568ml). Complete rip-off!! Breakfast was acceptable - albeit the eggs were all over cooked and the bacon was like cardboard. Mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage - all fine. Choice of cereals, toast, jam, yoghurts, apples, bananas

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear shakespeare076 Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. I am so pleased that you found the rooms clean. Unfortunately due to the time of year spiders do come in. With regards to the bed all our mattresses are no more than 3 years old. As you can see from previous reviews, mattresses are personal preference and whilst we feel we have one than caters to most, this is not always the case and so I apologise that you did not get a good night's sleep. Unfortunately we had had a very busy weekend and did run out of certain items on our gin menu such as cucumber. Whilst this is no excuse it is an explanation and again I apologise that this was the case. Our advertised pricing is what we charge, there is no difference. Our pint is a standard 568ml (20 imperial fluid ounces) pint and our branded glassware is supplied by a national company. If you provide an e-mail I am more than happy to send a video of our pint glasses being filled to the 568ml measurement or alternatively if you want to provide us with more information on your measuring technique and apparatus I am definitely open to taking a look. As with the bedroom I am again pleased you found breakfast good with a lot of choice. Kindest regards Katie Jones Assistant Manager

The shower was brilliant very powerful and woke me up ready 2 enjoy my friends wedding. The staff wer all friendly and helpful. We didn't see much of the hotel as we cane only 4 the reason of the wedding but what we seen we were impressed with. I know my friend really enjoyed her special day. Well done to all the staff. "Good Hotel but ..."

Kgdd2, Dundee, United Kingdom 17/08/2018

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst in the area on business. It's comfortable and the rooms are clean. The sound proofing from the corridors is not the best compared with some more modern hotels. However, one of the nights I had dinner in the restaurant but had to wait almost 10 minutes before anyone even appeared to offer me a seat. One lady who'd already eaten left the restaurant because she got fed up waiting too! Service was slow to start with but once my meal started it was ok. Food was reasonable too. Similarly my bill was inaccurate when I went to check out. Therefore it took a bit longer to get off to work than I would have expected. These are pretty minor matters so yes I'd recommend staying here. Good parking facilities and a car is required as it's a mile or so from the town centre.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Kgdd2, Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read that you found our rooms to be comfortable and clean. May I apologise for the slow service. We will of course be keeping an eye on this to ensure it isn't a reoccurring issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Thank you for your kind words once again. MerseysideKaren, Merseyside 12/08/2018

We arrived to attend a wedding and booked to stay overnight. The wedding was starting at midday, we asked reception if we could book in early to get changed. They kindly swooped our room to another that hadn't bee used the night before so didn't require cleaning to accommodate us. The food was okay, plenty of it although service a little slow. Every time we had a hot drink there was never a teaspoon to be found. Alcohol drinks were expensive and they could of done with more staff to clean as the day progressed. Rooms were okay if a little dated.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening MerseysideKaren, Thank you for reviewing Best Western The Everglades Park Hotel, We always do our best to accommodate our guests' requirements, I am so glad you have experienced this first hand. May I apologise that service was a little on the slow side, I can assure you this isn't our usual standard. Should you return to us we will of course provide you with a better restaurant experience. We undergo regular market research in relation to the bar prices to ensure that we keep in line with other hotels in the area. I am sorry you found our rooms to be a little dated, but I am pleased you found them comfortable and clean. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. I turned up at the hotel and was greated by two smiling faces which was an immediate distraction from the 6 hour train journey which was delayed by 2 hours. The restaurant closed a little early for my arrival at 0930 but the bar was open until we left at 0200 which made up for it. The room was reasonable size and clear. And the best was comfortable if a little soft. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful where they could be. Breakfast was £14.99 according to the servers but only £10 when I checked out. Breakfast was cereal and toast with the option for warm food made to ordee., Tea coffee and juices etc. Overall a decent stay of there is nothing to do in the area mid week. Oh and I had a drawer that didn't want to stay closed no matter how I tried to close it.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Michael I, Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am pleased to hear that our reception team are doing an excellent job and that you were greeted with a smile. Our restaurant hours are 6:30-9:30pm with last orders being taken at 9:15pm. I am sorry you found this to be early, but at least you managed to get something to eat in the bar area. With regards to the breakfast, if you add it on the evening before, it is £10.00. If you add it on in the morning it is £14.95, so they were both correct! Once again, thank you for your kind words. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Widnes hotel with Expensive London drinks prices."

2
TheCodfather2, North West England, United Kingdom 28/07/2018

Stop it, ordered a Stella and a small wine. £11.70. Took a pic of the drinks menu on the wall (completely different costs to what I paid) that was very quickly removed and taken away. Asked to see the manager, the explanation was the drinks menu hadn't been changed as they were busy, hmmm, so then offered a refund of £2.50. Lots of peeps there getting ripped off. I NEVER do negative reviews but on very rare occasions I will do. Get a grip. Cant blame the staff by the way, they don't set the prices.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon TheCodfather2, Thank you for your review, however I am not sure I agree with everything you have said. I can assure you that the prices stated on the wall were correct, albeit one tiny mistake with the house wine being 20 pence out for which I apologised for. This has now been rectified, so thank you for bringing it to our attention. When you asked to speak to a manager, it was in fact myself that you spoke to. I can 100% say that at no point did I excuse the mistake by saying that we are too busy. As you mentioned, I refunded you the difference that you were overcharged and apologised for the mistake, whilst promising that we would rectify the problem. It is absolutely not our intention to rip our guests off. We undergo extensive market research on a regular basis and I can safely say that our bar prices are in line with our competitors in the area. As this is the only negative you have mentioned, I am assuming everything else was perfect and therefore I feel a 2 star review is quite harsh. However I do hope that you accept my apology for the 20 pence discrepancy, we hope to welcome you back in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

User 24/07/2018

The hotel is clean nice décor rooms are nice but bed was uncomfortable & pillows very lumpy so not a good nights sleep. Visited the bar but unfortunately there was no wine available as all bottles in the fridge were empty! even though they offered me a wine list! The staff on reception were very pleasant & helpful.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon, Thank you for your review. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. May I apologise for the lumpy pillows and bare fridges. Our bar staff do stock the bar every single night so I am unsure as to how this has happened, however I will certainly be looking into it to ensure we do not have a repeat occurrence. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"One night stop over"

Jessicasgrandad, Grimsby 15/07/2018

Been here a few years ago, hence the ‘we will book again'. One other reviewer said ‘nice place but standards are falling' unfortunately I have to agree. Reception greeting was fine. Check in procedure and room fine for one night. Breakfast in the morning, another story. Got in before the crowds built up , the hot plate area was just big enough to fit 3 people in. Presentation of the breakfast had a lot to be desired. Fried eggs were refilled and thrown into the hot plate , displayed as they landed, not impressed. The cold drinks table was there. One glass I picked up and filled unbeknown to me had a 1cm chunk out of the rim when I passed it to my wife almost spilling the juice on her ... called one of the young lads over who almost insinuated that we'd broken it.. where's the broken bit he asked? No idea I replied it wasn't there ! Almost got a sorry Sir for that , excluding the Sir! However the restaurant itself was nicely light and the decor was good Bedroom really could do with A/C in summer... ?? It's ok here for one or two nights max

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Jessicasgrandad, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. First of all may I say how pleased I am to hear that you will be returning to The Everglades Park Hotel. We had to book a hotel the night before our flight from Liverpool Airport so booked here. The price was reasonable compared to the hotels adjacent to the airport. The staff at check in were lovely and as we left they wished us a happy holiday. We ate in the restaurant that was quite modern and the food was pleasing. The bedroom was modern and comfy and the breakfast hearty

"Good stay - but falling standards?"

3
MikeAndMarg, Herts 17/06/2018

We have stayed here many times but over the last year we feel we are now seeing standards starting to slip. Our room was very good, nice and clean, everything we needed, including iron and ironing board and a big comfortable king size bed! However it was at breakfast that we noticed the little things missing that used to make our stay even better. It's now self service breakfast which was OK but it was nice to be served, which used to be the case and you could order from a small breakfast menu. You would also get your fresh coffee served in a cafetière along with a pot of tea. Now it's help yourself from jugs of coffee and hot water. For tea drinkers there was a bowl of tea bags, gone was the nice selection of SEALED tea bags you could pick from. We had to ask for an Earl Grey tea bag, which was provided, but again was unsealed and not Earl Grey?? Pop to Premier Inn or Holiday Inn and a good selection of SEALED tea bags are provided. The breakfast was OK but some of the sausages and fried eggs were well over cooked. It's also a pity that the hotel don't ask for a certain dress code at breakfast as a number of quests come to breakfast in their nightwear, a sign of the times maybe, as some going shopping too in their pyjamas as well!! I must be getting old!!! The other niggle was the sticky wooden floor to the dining area which looked as though it could do with a good clean. As I say room was fine and overall we had a good stay but we think the things that used to make our stay more enjoyable are now missing. As some would say..."it's the little things that really do make the difference"... they have now gone.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good afternoon MikeAnMarg Firstly thank you for you repeat custom and loyalty to our brand. I am pleased that you found the room to a high standard and with plenty of amenities. With regards to breakfast it is mixed; self service on busier days and to order on quieter days. We have changed our tea and coffee service to self serve however this is soon to change again with the addition of a machine that will do all types of coffees plus tea and hot chocolate. Unfortunately due to a supplier mistake those were the teabags that were delivered however I can assure you we still have a large selection of sealed teabags. The restaurant is hoovered and mopped multiple times throughout the day, this can't be done in the middle of service so if something had been spilt it would of been soaked up and then scrubbed after breakfast had closed. I hope that you would stay with us again. As you have said some little things let down the stay for you and this is not to our usual standard. Kindest regards Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Would not recommend"

User 14/06/2018

Hotel room provided was not clean, had lots of spiders and make up stained towels on arrive. Bed was dusty and smelly. Wasnt a plently stay and I felt itchy all night during my sleep, weird noises from the heating system and I had to leave the windows open to let fresh air into the room to air it out.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening G7650HUlinda, Thank you for your feedback. All of our bedrooms are cleaned to a high standard daily but I am sorry you disagree. Unfortunately spiders can crawl in overnight and this does not reflect on the cleanliness of our rooms. With regards to the makeup stained towels, had you mentioned this to our reception team we would certainly have replaced them for you. I can assure you that all towels are changed daily. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Hopefully you will give us another chance in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Clean and comfortable"

RedMGB, London, England 06/06/2018

As a single, I had a large room with a double bed. The room was clean and light, coffee and biscuits were available, and the hotel is surrounded by fields. Would recommend. Downsides: we were there on Saturday night with a wedding reception and the disco was loud and late, so avoid a room near to reception. Restaurant was acceptable. Breakfast good.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon RedMGB, Thank you for your kind words. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and that you found our rooms to be comfortable and clean. Apologies that you found the wedding to be a little loud. We do try and allocate all our non-wedding residents to the rooms furthest away from the hotel, so I am sorry that this didn't happen on this occasion. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Shocking bar service"

1
Ryowidnes, Widnes, United Kingdom 03/06/2018

Ok, I'll cut straight to the chase, a wedding is supposed to be a happy event, well waiting for over half an hour at the bar is totally unacceptable. 2 lads who had as much go in them as a burst balloon! Pathetic. But what was worse after waiting for over 30 minutes, was the price. Disgusting

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Ryowidnes, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt this way. We always staff our bar to a ratio of 1 bar staff per 50 guests. We were informed by the Bride & Groom that there would be 100 guests attending, but we were to cater for 130. Now I know that we had 3 bar staff on (we pre-empted that 130 would probably turn up). On the night it appeared that around 100 extra guests attended the function. I personally have never seen the room so full, nor the bar so busy. I agree with you that the queue was excessively long, even backing out into the reception area. However, upon checking the CCTV I can confirm that the majority of guests were served within 10 minutes. The CCTV also confirms that our bar staff worked flat out all night with management and supervisors helping out in periods and waiting on staff collecting the glasses. We are a hotel so the prices are always a little more than a local pub, however we are competitive in the area. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future to provide you with a more positive experience. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

Stayed for two nights for a friends wedding and had a great experience. Bedroom was spacious and clean, bed very comfortable and nice bathrooms. Dined in Keys restaurant night before and the food was delicious (steak recommended) and reasonably priced. Wedding itself was wonderful, wedding suite very modern. Special mention to the staff who made us welcome throughout our visit !! Will definatley be back.

Good Afternoon gsw43695, Thank you so much for your kind words. It really does mean a lot to us when we hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay. Booked this hotel as it was close to my parents home visiting as she had had an accident the hotel on first appearances looked ok and clean which for a boy from Widnes is what I was looking for however the room was tired it had a valley in the bed that the Lake District would have loved a coffee stain on the wall paper and a real needing a hug feel we went down to the restraunt and ordered food and from us both well done kitchen lovely food piping hot as was the breakfast the following morning however after the wife was asked are you finished sir she has short hair but really we felt service was lacking overall decent enough and apart from the waiter staff trying pity the building lets them down slightly

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Afternoon Ian-Tracey-Roberts, First of all may I thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your food here at The Everglades. I will pass your lovely messages on to our chefs. Thank you for providing your feedback with regards to the bedrooms. We are currently in the process of touching up and repainting the bedrooms to ensure that all marks on the walls are eliminated. May I express my deepest apologies for our staff addressing your wife incorrectly. I am sure this was an accident, and I hope your wife hasn't taken offence to the simple mistake. I hope your experience hasn't put you off staying with us in the future. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Blamed as a guest for booking late!!!"

2
doreenworkman, Shrewsbury, United Kingdom 09/05/2018

Stayed here with my daughter for Mothers day this year. Had a busy day planned the next day with family and arrived back to the hotel to find a party going on. Noise both sides of our room was excessive and combined with partygoer's running up and down the corrider. at 1:30 am, tried to contact the night porter who eventually quietened things down. My daughter had to get dressed and go down as the phone wasn't being answered ; probably due to other guests complaining. Registered our disappointment the next morning and followed this up with formal complaint. The response blamed us for booking late and advised they were not going to offer anything more than an upgrade next time. Maybe next time, they need to advise guests on check in that there's a party at the hotel so alternatives can be sought and guests have a choice. Won't be seeing me for dust with their really poor customer service (!) response. The response worsened an already poor experience

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning doreenworkman, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am shocked to hear of your experience whilst staying with us. It is an awful shame that other guests were a little too noisy, however I am pleased to hear that our Night Manager managed to resolve the issues and you finally managed to get some sleep. With regards to the phone not being answered, I must apologise for this. This is not our usual standard and I will certainly be speaking to the night staff to ensure that this doesn't happen again. I am sorry that you did not feel our response was adequate, however we do have weddings, parties and functions most weekends and it is rare that we have these kind of problems. We have a system in place in which all non-function attending guests are to be situated away from the function rooms. If the guests are being too noisy, often we don't know about it until someone like yourself mentions it to us. Once the issue has been raised to us, it is the our job to rectify it as we did so on the night. Wishing you all the best, and thank you once again. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Doesn't even deserve the one circle!"

User 29/04/2018

Stayed here last night, checked in, room card didn't work, back to reception. Finally got in the room, huge stain on the bedding and an extra campbed in the room, fair enough must be a family room. No the room hadn't been touched for cleaning. Don't you just love finding condoms, used and unused, a full bathroom bin and makeup and dirt in your sheets. I would never stay here again, very let down as we've had good best western experiences but this one was vile not worth the £69 at all. Wedding function on at night which isn't a problem but having people running up and down the corridors shouting about pizza and trying to get in your room isn't fun. Yes we were moved to a cleaner room, but that's not the point the staff didn't know their a**e from their elbow and frankly seemed to not care less at their lack of standards.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening Laura C, Thank you for reviewing Best Western The Everglades Park Hotel. I myself was on duty when this happened, and so I completely understand how disgusted you must have felt walking into the unclean bedroom. Whilst we admit that it was our fault entirely, you have said yourself that we did do our best for you and moved you to another bedroom that had in fact been cleaned. We did investigate the problem, and it seems that there was a glitch in our system that meant the room was showing as "clean" as if the room had not been in use the night before. I am sorry for your experience. I can assure you that in all the time I have worked here that this has never happened to us before, and we have new rules in place to ensure that it doesn't happen again. Our staff care deeply about the standards of the hotel. As you may have read in other reviews, our staff are always found to be courteous, helpful, friendly and attentive, so I am saddened to read that you feel this way. Please do not let this one experience put you off future stays. We would love to show you our usual high standards, should you wish to stay with us again. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"Nice hotel with some differences"

3
User 25/04/2018

I stayed a single night and had a comfortable stay with 2 lovely meals (evening meal and breakfast). The staff were lovely and for the most part very attentive. I would say the bar staff were busy attending to those in the restaurant more than those in the bar, which I suspect was Purley down to too few staff members. The room itself was comfortable but did lack two main items for me. 1. Anything to hang clothes on, a simple clothes rail would have been fine. 2. The climate/air conditioning option was a keyed box on the wall with 2 options... Hot & cold and as a guest I was not trusted to choose as the key to select either was removed. My room was on the ground floor and as such I did not want to sleep with a large window open. Nice enough but will not be 1st choice in the future

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening MENOTYOUlot, Thank you for reviewing Best Western The Everglades Park Hotel. I am pleased to hear that you found our food to be of a high standard and our staff to be friendly and attentive. Our bar staff do serve drinks to both the bar area and the restaurant. This doesn't usually cause us any problems and I am sure you will experience this next time you stay with us. I am delighted to hear that you found our rooms to be comfortable. We will ensure that there is a clothes rail fitted in every room in future. Thank you for this. The temperature of the room is controlled by the radiator on the wall, which is always turned on from reception and then you can choose to turn it up or down as you wish. I am sorry that this wasn't explained to you. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

TEDCheshire, Cheshire 09/04/2018

Amazing wedding venue - the room was just beautiful & I'm quite picky!! The rooms were nice enough but need a bit of a re-vamp to be honest. Breakfast was hot & miss with the hot food being cramped up in a small area making it difficult for more than one person to serve themselves at any time. Staff were friendly - especially the housekeeping staff who were absolutely lovely.

KatieAliceJones, Assistant Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Morning TEDCheshire, First of all may I thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed yourself at a wedding here. We do our very best to ensure every aspect of the day is perfect for both the Bride and Groom, and also the guests attending. So thank you! . Thank you for letting us know your thoughts and feelings with regards to breakfast. I will certainly have a look at presenting breakfast slightly differently in future to help improve the overall guest experience. I will pass your lovely comments on to our housekeeping staff, thank you once again. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kindest Regards, Katie Jones Assistant Manager

"A disappointing experience"

marklB42OD, Newark 06/03/2018

I stay in a lot of hotels on business and I realise hotels can have good days and bad ones, my experience was a bad day. First impressions and all that... a cold room with dirt on the carpet that hadn't been hoovered up. Towel in the bath...had it been changed or was it thrown in there by the last guest?? I was warned that there could be a 20 - 30 minute wait for dinner, that wasn't a problem. It eventually turned up an hour later and to be honest it was pretty basic. No waiter to be seen so I could sign for my meal, after five minutes waiting by an empty bar I returned to my room. Time for coffee. Ah... no spoon, dirty mugs, impossible to open milk cartons (how long had they been there), dirty tray... and the toilet seat was broken. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 star was because the receptionist was helpful. However, I won't be coming back.

ZoeSeifert, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Good Evening marklB42OD, First of all may I thank you for your review. We appreciate that you have taken the time to let us know your thoughts and feelings on your stay here. I apologise that the carpet appeared un-vacuumed. This isn't our usual standard and I personally will be carrying out room inspections to ensure that this doesn't happen again. Our towels always get changed, so it is likely that it had simply fallen from the rail. Presentation is everything though, so I am sorry for this. As for the bar being unstaffed, we always make sure there is a member of staff on the bar, and at least 2 members of staff in the restaurant, so I am unsure as to how this happened to you. With regards to the issues with the tea-tray in your room, had you mentioned this to a member of staff in the room we would have certainly rectified it on the night and you may have left feeling a little left disappointed. Wishing you all the best, and we look forward to seeing you again should you change your mind. Kind Regards,

Nice warm welcome from the staff all very friendly room was good but desperate need of painting yellow gloss paint and peeling wallpaper never a good look (thats why its a 3 star not 5) but apart from that the room bed was very comfortable nice mattress. Great choice for breakfast caters for everyone

superfreak02, Liverpool, United Kingdom 15/02/2018

We booked into here for the night as we were going to a party nearby. My first impression when we got to our room was how cold it was, we had to put the heating straight on! The room was nice & spacious & the bed was comfy. I don't know what they use to clean the bath with but whatever it is it makes the bath really really slippery resulting in me banging my leg & gaining a large bruise. Once I did get in the bath the shower was amazing. We were told we couldn't drink in the bar as there was a function on, this didn't bother us as we were going out but it would have been nice to have that option. All in all it was a nice stay in a reasonable priced hotel.

Went to the Evergaldes for the North West Casual Classics Christmas meal last Sunday. The carvery was generous to say the least and the service excellent. My wife doesn't eat meat but found the spicy penne pasta most agreeable. Worth noting that the drinks prioces were not excessive for this type of event! As always great company from fellow classic car enthusiasts made the day.

Booked a stay here for one night with breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Room was clean and tidy with kettle, hairdryer, towels etc and a comfy bed! The breakfast was brilliant, unlimited buffet style with some great rashers of bacon and sausages! (Unfortunately no hash browns however). The bar area was again really clean and the staff throughout our stay was friendly and approachable. People have complained about the walls being thin, we personally couldn't hear anything from next door but there was a pretty disrespectful party celebrating a 21st going to bed that was banging about the bedroom doors in the early hours of the morning. Honestly couldn't recommend the hotel enough, great location and for the price there really wasn't any faults.

Booked our car club meal for 46 people, the room was very welcoming, well presented + warm. The cavery meal was lovely and of a high standard. The staff were friendly + nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks from all at Northwest Casual Classics

A group of friends and I spent New Years Eve here and stayed the night. All did not start very well as we arrived at 2pm to find that the bar was only due to open at 3pm however we were rescued by the receptionist who served us whilst dealing with arrivals and a major software problem with the room key system which meant no one could enter their rooms without a staff member using their pass key. The night started with canapés and champagne then a formal meal followed by entertainment and dancing. All considered a good night and a great way to start the New Year

We needed a place to stay as we were attending the International Horse Show in Liverpool, we were also bringing our dog along for his first road trip. The hotel was easy to find and very quiet for a Friday. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. The room was more than I had expected for the price we paid, they even provided an eating area for our dog with a bowl and rubber mat. Room was clean and the shower was hot and powerful. I was expecting a let down at breakfast but again I was surprised. Continental breakfast was plentiful and fresh and the cooked food looked and tasted like it was just prepared. I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends and we will be going back. Thank you staff, you are doing a fantastic job.

"Christmas Party 2017"

3
DenF77, Widnes, United Kingdom 20/12/2017

We booked our work Christmas party here and 12 of us attended on Saturday 16th of December. I'll start with the positives first – the drinks offer was very good and lasted from 8pm until midnight, it included wine, beer and shorts as there was good variety on offer which suited us all and most of us feel we had out monies worth. The food was also very good, the starter and dessert were served to you but the main meal was a carvery which was self serve. We were all very impressed with the food as it was hot, tasty and we all asked for extra meat and the server obliged. The negatives, the downstairs room is far too small to accommodate the amount of people, with rows of tables squashed together we felt like sardines, it just wasn't comfortable and incredibly hot. We had to ask for the air con to be switched on as it was unbearable. The bar was always extremely busy, with only 2 staff serving and only 1 drink allowed at a time, this meant I felt the entire night was spent in a queue for the bar. There needs to be a bit more leniency with this, whether its two drinks at a time or have some wine on each table to try and relieve the demand for the bar. The final criticism was that the DJ wasn't that great, it was a room full of people on their works Christmas parties and yet he didn't play any Christmas songs until midnight! He also played a lot of recent songs as opposed to the usual floor fillers you would expect to hear, non of our group really danced much but to be fair there wasn't much room to anyway!. Overall the food and value for money was good enough to not mark the venue down completely but Christmas 2018 we'll be looking for another venue to celebrate, one with a bit more space.

We booked a room with king size bed, but though a large duvet it was just 2 single divans pushed together. The shaver light did not work and bathroom fan very noisy. Bedside lights which were linked to main overhead light so you could not get out of bed in night without putting large light on. Only 2 free plug sockets and none by the beds. Walks very thin, could here people next door talking and also could here when they were using the toilet!

"Don't stay here if you want sleep"

2
User 05/12/2017

The staff at the hotel are good and make you feel welcome from the start, especially the breakfast girls who make an effort to say hello and ask you how your day is. However the rooms are basic which is not a problem. The problem is the walls are so thin that any time someone moves in another room it's like actually being there and that's lucky that if you don't get a noisy neighbour. There was also a wedding when I arrived late on a Sunday night, which is fine but to be greeted by lots of drunk noisy guests in the reception area is not what you need after a 6 hrs drive. I was placed at the other end of the hotel by the receptionist so the late disco would. It keep me awake, which was great. However there was no forward thought and they had placed wedding guests at that end of the hotel, so through out the night I was woken up by drunk loud people returning to their rooms.

We stayed for a second time as we were attending the Allergy show over the weekend. As a wheelchair user I had requested a ground floor room with a bath and that is exactly what we got. On arrival the room was very cold and the first room allocated hadn't been serviced, thankfully they found us an alternative room, but this room was equally cold. Trying to find out how to make the heater work was more than problematic. Knowing it is now cold we would expected the rooms to be as least aired. No excuse can be given, that this wasn't our allocated room, as the original one was equally as cold. In the middle of the night my husband woke up shivering and had to increase the temperature which is a first for us in all the hotels we have stayed in country wide. We ate in the bar and ordered the fish finger sandwich with chips and a side salad and the piri piri chicken and salad. The fish finger dish was extremely tasty, unfortunately the same couldn't be said about the chicken salad, this was a poor lack-lustre salad, but the chicken was nothing more than okay at best. In all the meals could have been better for what we paid for them. In the room the bed is of a good size, but its a health and safety issue to have no grab handles to help get in and out of the bath. You are given one packet of biscuits where we would have expected 2, even though there are 2 biscuits in a packet in hotels of equal standard 2 packets are always provided. Sleep wasn't that good as the pillows provided are well passed their sell by date. They have no poof left in them. The ones we were given bent instantly when we picked them up, in our opinion they need replacing immediately. The curtains and pelmet were covered with cob webs, clearly they aren't on the daily cleaning routine. If you look above the pelmet then you can see torn wallpaper and more dirty marks. Breakfast was good, however when you drink plain water insist you ask for it from the kettle, as the hot water jug is tainted by coffee, making clear water undrinkable. There is a good choice of food to choose from cold and cooked, and there is no limit to how many times you return to the cold buffet. The staff on reception I found to be rude to me. I am a wheelchair user as previously mentioned and entered the foyer first with my husband behind me. Rather than looking at me the female receptionist chose to look straight over my head and speak to my husband. It wasn't until I said, excuse me but I made the booking so you need to talk to me, she never apologised, but did then look towards me. Life is hard enough without being deliberately being ignored. Had I not made myself known I truly believe she wouldn't have acknowledged me at all. Had it not been for other areas been better they would have got a much lower mark. This is the 21st century disabled people should not be ignored, it's bad manners. We stayed in room 127.

We had a one-night stopover in Widnes. The Everglades had all the necessary amenities to make it a comfortable place to stay as the rooms are well-equipped. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that. We did stay on a Saturday night when there was a private wedding function taking place but as we had a room at the back of the hotel we did not hear any noise. All round a good hotel.

Recently stayed a week at the Everglades hotel widnes. Only allowed 1 toilet per day ran out of teabags in room . Shower broke and had no scald protection. Shabby carpet. Receptionists never Greeted us and never made eye contact. The only people who were welcoming was the waitresses in the week days at breakfast. The breakfast was bad . Eat as much as you like if you dare. Bacon like shoe leather. Eggs over cooked . Kept in bain Marie forever. Worst breakfast . Lounge bar dark with no windows . Wrote on the comments form and left my email address and they can't even reply

A group of 6 of us attended the 70's and 80's evening. The venue was full but service for starters and dessert was good. The queue for the carvery was long but service was quick. You can't fault the value for money at £21 for 3 course meal and entertainment. The DJ was great and the dance floor was full all night. The hotel runs a series of different entertainment events throughout the year and we would definately attend again.

Hotel grounds and parking are great, and a good location just off the main roads. Check in process was quite slow and average with regards to info on breakfast / getting out the car park so when i tried to get out in the evening i couldn't so had to go back and get the code! Room was nice and the bed was great however a few little things - few bulbs out in lamps, very loose cheap plastic toilet seat, poor TV. £10 for breakfast was shocking - sausages cold, bacon hard and overcooked, hard eggs and NO hash browns! Shocking. If the breakfast was half decent i would have said average hotel, wont stay here again.

A great hotel, in a reasonably secluded spot. The rooms are clean and cosy and the all you can eat breakfast is very tasty. The staff are proactive and friendly and very accommodating. My now Wife and I got married at the Everglades August 19th 2017 and I can't even begin to tell you what a brilliant job the hotel did of decorating the tables and the room for our after ceremony meal. The Wedding planner Amy is amazing and she spent weeks ensuring our special day went without a hitch... We can't thank Amy enough. I consider myself well travelled and count the Everglades amongst my favourites.

Great location for everything we needed to do in the area just off motorway. Room very clean and comfortable. Pillows could have been a little softer. Breakfast was very tasty. Second time we have stayed here and some of the hotel has had a revamp. Safe car parking, excellent size rooms. This time we had some problems with our room ( a broken toilet and no cold water) which we reported, these had been fixed by the evening on our return. The rooms seemed clean but there was chocolate wrappers on the floor beside our son's bed which made me check the cleanliness of the bedding too. On check out i was told that I had to pay for the evening meal which they claimed I had in the restaurant. This was not the case and I was able to prove that all 8 of us had eaten elsewhere. The cost of the meal which we had not had was removed from the bill, there was no apology from the staff.

Stacey R, Stockport, United Kingdom 06/08/2017

When we first pulled up to the hotel we were really impressed. It looked like something from a foreign resort with well kept beautiful hanging baskets and attractive exterior. The car park was large and barrier secured so it was really easy to get our luggage into the hotel. Inside we were not disappointed as the hotel was very clean and the staff really friendly. Our room was on the first floor and we were lucky enough to have a Juliet style balcony which gave us lots of light and air into the room. The room was very clean and spacious. The only negatives in the room were that there a was certain knack to flushing the toilet which took a bit of practice to get the hang of and the toilet paper was really poor quality. We stayed B&B and the dining room was lovely and open, light and spacious with the staff doing their best to keep everything topped up as it ran out. Again we enjoyed our breakfast (the mushrooms were especially yum) however the only downside was that the food was not very hot -maybe this was because it was buffet style, I'm not sure but it would have been perfect it it was hot as the food was good quality. Overall we had a great stay in a clean comfy room and would definitely stay again.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding and although the wedding was great and the staff where wonderful the hotel it's self is so shabby I couldn't believe how much I was paying for it. Mould in the bathroom. 3 lights out in the room. It was that dark at night that I had to use my phone light to see at the other end of the room. Lots of things needed attention. Down stairs and outside looked lovely at first but the longer you look the more things we saw. I slept well although every time I flushed the toilet it would make a loud dripping sound for about 15 minutes after flushing. Breakfast and dinner food not good. Although the cheese cake and kids meals where good. Very expensive alcohol tab at the end of the night.. wouldn't stay here again.

Went against my better judgement in booking this Hotel. Continually travelling world wide I am really not a great fan of Best Western hotels. Having said that I have been pleasantly surprised by the Everglades. It is well located within easy access of the M62. There is an abundance of car parking. The check in was prompt and facilitated by a bright and cheerful you lady on reception. The room was very comfortable without going over the top. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I would definitely stay here again.

Tired rooms with poor upkeep and maintenance. Contact lens on the bathroom door The towel hook wasn't attached so fell on the floor. The cord to the iron was damaged with wires sticking out. The TV was small with poor reception and the carpet was past it's best. Find somewhere else - this is nasty.

I have regularly stayed at the Everglades Hotel on a business stopover, although not for some time now. i find it to be a totally acceptable hotel, certainly has more personality and charm than the usual stopover hotels which are soulless, in my opinion. I have always found the staff to be helpful, polite, professional and most welcoming. I particularly am impressed with the way you are given your room number totally discreetly - a must for any female lone traveller. One negative on my last stay though, which was over a year ago... I secretly admired the lovely shiny bathroom, envious of the dazzlingly bright tiles, bath and mirror. The cleaners here must be very fit with all that scrubbing and buffing, I thought. However, I filled the bath...Great, Luxuriously deep bath, just about to lay back and soak, when I realised I had forgotten to bring in my face cloth and soap...Shoot, had to get out and get it. Went to climb back in bath when suddenly WHOOSH, I slipped right down the full length of the bath, totally submerged and shocked. I managed to get upright in bath, had a little giggle to myself, thanking goodness I had not been hurt. I then lay back, still sniggering and my daftness when i noted that water dripped from the ceiling. The splash was so great it hit off the ceiling and was now dripping on to me. I also had a look at the floor - it was swimming, I wondered why I had to put more water in bath! I threw down all the towels (sorry) to mop up and finished my bath. Got out and guess what? I Slipped again on wet floor. By this time I was rather annoyed. I opened the bathroom door and horrors of horrors, not only had the water gone on bathroom floor, it had seeped through and under the door. I spent my evening mopping up the carpet with what towels were left (sorry again) Anyway, my conclusion as to why the bath was so shiny? It must have been some kind of cleaning stuff that makes things sparkly, perhaps this could be looked into? So, an adventurous trip for me that time. Hopefully the nice reception staff don't notice my blushes if ever I check in again

We stayed here for three nights visiting friends in the area. When we checked in the Receptionist told us that she'd given us a room a good distance from Reception as there was to be a wedding in the hotel next day. Nice thought as the guests could have been a bit noisy!! We had a lovely big room with a nice view and breakfast was very good too. So no complaints. Good value

We spend last weekend at this hotel and to be frank, I really enjoyed the stay. A very good view from our room, the room was very spacious and the hotel service was fab! There's breakfast buffet for £10, which I think is worth a try! 10mins away from this hotel is St.Helens and there's lots of restaurants and supermarkets if you need anything. The only concern I had was the room was really hot, there was no fan or AC in the room. But besides that I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely recommend this hotel to my families/friends.

Visited the Best Everglades Park Hotel on 2nd to 3rd July '17. Really nice hotel and once settled in had a nice evening and stay. The meal came with a bottle of wine and the food was delicious with very generous servings. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Our room was fairly clean but nice and comfy. On arrival there was 2 partys going on so was unable to access the bar as they were private only and felt a little uncomfatable being placed on a bar table in what seemed to be the passage to the restaraunt so we could have a drink and sandwich. We retired to our room which was on the ground floor but window opened up onto the gardens with the private party which was noisy and not private. People looking in at you and childrens heads popping in the window. General maintence and housekeeping in room 106 could do with a looking at. Stained matress.s and protectors and dirty sheets left under matress.s. On the whole after 6pm it was a really nice evening away.

Only stayed here one night, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. A bit confusing exiting the car park, you need a code for the barrier when leaving but you've got to make sure you exit the right way so as to input the code into the machine. So if unsure just ask at reception etc..Would stay here again if visiting the area.

We stayed here recently as was convenient to the stadium. Hotel is very tired and needs modernising..... it's all beige!. Room was odd, as it opened out into a second room which had another tv, sofa's and a second bathroom..... why ? Free fruit consisted of 2 oranges and free soft drinks were 2 bottles of water !. At the bar they offered raspberry mohito... shame the receptionist that wanted to serve us did not know what she was doing. Had to wait too long to be seated at breakfast as only 2 people serving. To their credit...the cooked breakfast was hot. No sign of the continental breakfast (normally it is all laid out) only basics ie cereal. Had to ask for organge juice as jug was empty, Would I stay again.... yes if there was no where else available !

Siobhan H, County Dublin, Ireland 31/05/2017

Staff very young, not trained and not supervised. Staff seemed to be expected to cover everything, Falty Towers here we come. Staff very helpful, they did their best but there was nowhere near enough of them, they covered reception, the bar, the dining room. You name it the same faces were behind the desk or the notepad. No sign of any senior staff or anyone above the age of 30. Ate in the restaurant the first night, very expensive and very, very poor food. Would not recommend eating here at all. Sunday lunch was going strong the day we left, this looked good but after our experience on our first night we were reluctant to risk it. Our first night there was 10 of us, the only people in the bar but there was nobody to serve us a drink. Only one poor young chap behind reception who had to deal with some unruly late arrivals on his own. There was a lot of noise in the corridor late in to the night, doors opening and slammed shut again and again. As the poor chap on reception was on his own did not want to ring down as he would not be equipped to cope if there was any trouble from the guests involved. Our second night we arrived back, there was a wedding on. Because the function room does not have a bar and the hotel bar was the wedding bar we as residents were not allowed in the bar. Two nights in a row we were unable to get a drink in our hotel. The young staff again did their best, they let us in to the restaurant and ran in and out to us with some drinks. Again, only young people around, no sign of anybody in a senior position. The rooms were okay, pretty clean. The hotel stairs and hallways were not, very grubby, worn carpet which was dirty when we arrived and still dirty when we left. It did not appear to have been hoovered over the length of our stay. Breakfast was included, it was ok. Standard fair, adequate but only just. Would not recommend.

We had our wedding here on 26th May 2017. It's fair to say that the hotel certainly go the extra mile to make it special. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave they are available to support you and make it a day to remember. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food is very good quality. This hotel is highly recommended.

Just stopped at this lovely hotel and booked through Wowcher which included 2 course evening meal and wine also breakfast. What a lovely surprise the room was very nice, all the staff were so friendly but food was absolutely delicious and breakfast was in abundance there was everything you could want.. but it was so nice not to be treated differently because we had a discount.I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back thanks for an enjoyable stay..

sentinel64, Cambridge 26/05/2017

This is a 3 star hotel. So don't expect the Ritz. However the rooms are a decent size, there is plenty of parking and the price is good. Easy to reach all the local tourist things Liverpool has to offer using this as a base. Widnes close by has a great retail park. The food is fine if you are on dbb rate, although the menu for vegetarian is limited. The food is rich! Pack elastic waistband trousers! All in all good value , good service, clean tidy and respectable, value for money. Pets allowed.

"Excellent Sunday carvery lunch"

ukvisitor35, Liverpool, United Kingdom 23/05/2017

Called in on a Sunday lunchtime without booking. The staff were very friendly and found us a table straight away. The carvery was delicious with a choice of three meats, beef, Turkey and ham with the usual help yourself carvery items, roast, boiled and mashed potatoes, cabbage, carrots and turnip, green beans, mini sausages, Yorkshire pudding And stuffing all very tasty and priced at £7.95 very good value for money. There were a choice of starter and desserts at a reasonable price but we were full after the main meal.

Dear ukvisitor35 Thanks for your lovely review about your meal with us. We are pleased that you enjoyed your carvery and the staff were very helpful. We hope to see you again very soon.

Good location, easy to get to. Pleasant and friendly staff - always had a smile. Ample parking. There was a private function in the bar during our stay so expected to be disturbed during the evening but wasn't and had a very good nights sleep in comfy beds! Room and areas were clean and well presented. Wi-Fi worked in all areas which pleased my daughter! Would return.

Stayed for a week visiting family in the area and was not disappointed. The rooms are clean and spacious, great bar area with a wide variety of food and drink choices. The restaurant has decent food and the ambiance was very nice. The staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping could have been a bit more aware of what ran out in the room, but overall they did a good job. Parking lot was so large so no problem finding a spot. There was a party one night in the bar but we couldn't hear any noise as they closed all doors in the hallways. Really pleasant stay and would recommend for a basic, clean and friendly property close to Warrington.

Please, please do not stay here. Never have I been to a place like this, booked in ok, went to our room - the stairs on the way up were filthy and would be better suited to a factory. The room was disgusting, dirty sheets, saggy mattress that had seen better days and the bathroom was shocking and the smell of the place. I have never complained about a hotel before, but demanded my money back and left as could not stay here. Would give it a minus score if I could.

ZoeSeifert, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Karzi99 I am sorry to hear that you felt there were so many faults with the hotel, with regards to the stairs we do have some workers in at the moment however, I will ensure staff are doing more frequent checks on this. With regards to the rest of your feedback, I could not find dirt or a smell in your room. We hope you found somewhere that suited you.

"Generally good but a couple of housekeeping points let it down.0"

CarlisleWeeps, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom 10/05/2017

My room was a good size with a decent sized tv. The bed was large and very comfortable. Room service menu offered a really good choice and was delivered in a timely manner. The only downsides for me were a couple of housekeeping problems...although my bedroom was spotless the stairs up to the first floor and landing needed a vacuum (this may have been because I didn't check in till 5pm so people may have tracked in dirt after it had been hoovered) and the plughole in the bath had quite a few (long) hairs trapped in it (although the rest of the bathroom was clean).

ZoeSeifert, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear CarlisleWeeps Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you found the bedroom comfortable and menus good. I am sorry to hear that the stairs had mud on, we d have some workers in at the moment but will ensure staff check regularly. We hope that we will see you again soon.

At the reception we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff and the standard of friendliness and courtesy from all the staff continued throughout our 2 day visit. "HOTEL NOT TO BLAME FOR BRAWL"

5
User 21/04/2017

To the last reviewer, first of all sorry to hear we kept u up all night due to enjoying the wedding., which usually play music until 1 am, the norm. As for the brawl, this was unavoidable, it was more me restraining an unwanted guest, trying to keep the peace, knowing that people where sleeping, good reason, the police where called yes so it was dealt in the right way, you make it sound like a night club with people just fighting for fun, now that's out the way, I have stayed in hotels all over the world with my job. (An airline pilot) and have to say it was acceptable in every way, facilities, affordability and competent professional staff not forgetting how young they are, great management, great food, great atmosphere amazing for wedding occasions, BRAVO ALL STAFF, definitely recommend, hope to see you again

Dear TripAdvisor Member Thank you for your review and your lovely feedback. We appreciated what you did on the night. I will pass all your comments onto the staff. We hope to welcome you back soon.

"Don't expect to get any sleep!"

User 19/04/2017

We stayed at this hotel on a Sunday while a wedding reception was going on in the bar and function room. The staff were all very friendly when we arrived and our first floor room was what you'd expect for the price however we were slightly concerned as our window overlooked the weddings function room and outside area. The bed was reasonably comfy and the TV was very basic with a few channels. Another thing we noticed was the taps in the bath had been mixed up so the hot was cold and the cold was hot! We had dinner in the Hotel which I have to say was excellent, top marks to the chef! We then retreated to our room where by this time the music in the wedding was thumping and could be heard very loud in our room! The door to our room also shook and made a loud noise every time someone opened another door down our corridor which I managed to rectify by jamming the do not disturb sign between the frame and the door! Something that I couldn't fix was the constant, and i mean constant, slamming of a door just below us. Maybe it was a service door or a door that wedding guests were using? We did manage to get to sleep for an hour or 2 but was then awoken around 2AM by screaming and shouting from down the corridor where a full on brawl had started! This continued for about an hour until the police came and people started to go back to their rooms. Of course a lot of the guests were in adjacent rooms to us so all we could here was drunken talking, arguments, falling over etc. This, paired with the constant slamming of doors kept us awake until 5am. When we checked out in the morning the reception staff didn't ask how our stay had been and started talking to another customer. If the food was as bad as the stay and I had paid more than I had then done then I would have stayed to say something but we just wanted to get out of there to be honest. I will just say again though, the food was exceptional and the staff in the restaurant were all very pleasant. A real shame about the rest of the stay.

ZoeSeifert, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Sam M Thank you for your review. I feel your score of 1 is extremely unfair given that the only issue you faced was noise, which was then dealt with very quickly. Our rooms all have new mattresses and the TV's have full Freeview channels and sky sports channels. As you have stated yourself the staff, room and food were all excellent and value for money. The noise issue was dealt with quickly and efficiently in the way it should of been. If you experienced further noise problems then you could of called down to reception and someone would of come up immediately and sorted this for you. The night manager does do regular night checks in order to ensure guests have the best possible night sleep. I hope that you would stay with us again.

sunnyrHYL, Rhyl 10/04/2017

We stayed for two nights while we attended the Grand National. The first night Friday was very noisy with guests returning from a good day out at the National obviously after a few to drink. No fault of the hotels just rude guests who had no thought for others. After attending the National on the Saturday we decided to have a drink in the bar but due to a wedding we were told to go to the restaurant and staff would bring our drinks to us.Not the best of service wedding guests seemed more important. We had breakfast on both days £10 each resonable value for the money.Staff were very pleasant. One major fault was every time someone closed a door there was no soft close on the doors all you could hear was the door banging shut maybe the hotel management could rectify the problem as i feel its a major issue especially at night.Plenty of room in the car park no problems. If we were up that way again i think we would look around for other accomodation as this wasn't cheap for what can only be described as an average hotel.

ZoeSeifert, General Manager at Best Western Everglades Park Hotel, responded to this review
Dear sunnyrHYL Thank you for your feedback. I apologise for any noise you experienced from others, we do regular checks though out the night and ask all guests to respect others during their stay. I am pleased you found breakfast good value for money, the staff to be pleasant and ample car parking. I hope that you enjoyed the national and hope that you would stay with us again.

"Party time"

User 06/04/2017

We stayed for one night so that we could attend a birthday party. When we arrived there were two wedding receptions going on and the foyer was full of wedding guests. Even so, the receptionist was courteous and efficient and soon had our rooms sorted. The rooms themselves were of a good standard with tea, coffee, ironing board, etc. The beds were comfortable too and the only downside really was that anyone walking the corridor could be easily heard even when speaking at normal levels. Thankfully the hotel was quiet when we wanted to sleep. Checkout was quick and easy but finding the keypad to raise the exit barrier wasn't quite so. It is away from the actual barrier and can only be reached from the driver's side of the vehicle when approached from one particular route around the carpark. Despite this we had a pleasant stay.

Jay L, Worksop, United Kingdom 22/03/2017

I have been using this Hotel as an alternative to the national chains for single overnight stays on business. It is a proper hotel rather than one of the chain 'Lodge' or 'Inn' that frequent our A-roads! The welcome is warm, rooms clean and beds comfortable. Rooms are quiet although the sound deadening between rooms is not quite up to the newer building standards. Plenty of tea and coffee - even hot chocolate and biscuits too! Breakfast is buffet style when busier, or cooked to order - both are great! Parking is plentiful, you don't have to worry about the car next to you being too close to open the doors! Evening meal menu looks to be a little on the expensive side - but if it is as good as breakfast, is probably good value!

We have stayed at this hotel previously and found the rooms to be clean, tidy and in good repair with plenty of hot water and as always excellent and friendly staff. We were at one of the parties on Saturday night and agree the music was too loud but I believe this is an exception rather than the rule. Wherever possible we check with the hotels in advance. Breakfast tasty and substantial. Zoe, the General Manager is extremely helpful and professional

We stayed there for the night on sat there was party going on , we had long drive from London and pick this place to sleep for the night , got to front desk and girl could not even here us we as 1st were room was they had put us in 202 which would have been right by the noise so we ask to move got put 215 , The room was very dated and very dusty looks like they do not dusty the rooms as there was thick dusty piles on. The door frames , headboard on the window seal etc room was cold , so we try to put the heating on it was old fashioned electric heater , we rung down to front desk which took while as they could not hear due the party ,we said how do we get the heat on she said she turn on ? We are now coming in to winter so why should have ask for heating to switch on ?and the heating did not come on so we gives up as we was tired so we sleep with tshirt and jogger on , we had rough night too , people making noise until 2 am , to top it off in between the double bed there big switch that I keep hitting in the night , why would have switch there god knows feel bit let down by best western as I stay with them before been fine The hotel need massive renovations as it stuck in the 80s

We were visiting our son in Huyton and the Premier Inn at Roby was fully booked so we had to find somewhere else at short notice. The Best Western Everglades came up..it seemed very cheap but beggars can't be choosers so wasn't expecting much and it was only for one night after all. Well it completely surpassed my expectations....the room was a decent size and very clean..the ensuite wasn't large but perfectly adequate and again very clean.Nice hospitality tray..large fluffy towels and comfortable bed..what more do you need? Breakfast next morning was excellent..buffet style but everything you could want.Nicely laid out dining room and again everything clean.Next time we are visiting Huyton we will stay here again...cheaper and actually nicer in every respect than The Premier Inn...never thought I would be saying that when we booked it.

"Attractive venue, friendly staff"

3
User 08/11/2016

I visited location to attend a wedding. The setting for the wedding was lovely, the right size for a intimate occasion. The food was beautiful, especially the desert (white chocolate mouse). The drinks were quite expensive, and there wasn't a great choice. There were no cask ales, and the Tetley's smooth flow...did not flow smoothly. This is my only complaint, as Zoe and her staff were friendly and helpful throughout the whole day and night.

"Better than expected."

"Nice stay"

User 06/11/2016

We travelled to the hotel as a family of 5 to watch the football at Anfield - it's about a 20 minute drive from here. The hotel were very helpful in sorting our room arrangements, one interconnected room and another double plus chucked in free breakfasts once we were there as there was a confusion with the booking. Rooms were ok, fine for us who used the hotel as just a base to get into Liverpool without paying the high prices of the city. Rooms were clean and tidy but this place needs renovation and rooms need updating, however fine for a night. Breakfast was good, full English with continental options - not sure I would pay the £16 for it if it wasn't included but for free it was great. I would stay again for the night when going up to Anfield.

Stayed here for one night and it is what it is, a 3 star. Wasn't the best hotel I've stayed in but it did the job and was cheap. Breakfast was nice and I didn't even pay for it when I booked so that was a result. Thanks

"Not the best Best Western I have been to !!"

2
Dawniow, East Cowes, United Kingdom 03/11/2016

The room I was given on the ground floor had not been cleaned properly ......hair in the bath, dust and dirt on the skirting boards, cobwebs in both bedroom and bathroom and the carpet was not overly clean. The bed creaked and the matress was lumpy and hard. The bathroom sliding door was not sliding it kept sticking. Being gluten free I was dismayed by the waitress next morning who pointed out i could have toast, no continental and that the full english would be no good !! I pointed out the cereal and the bacon and tomatoes should be ok ! The next morning I and a member of the family I was visiting told the receptionist, they apologised. When I returned to the room later that day the room had been cleaned to a better standard but was still not brilliant, the door to the bathroom had been sorted but the bed was still dreadful. Considering I paid £10/£18 per breakfast it certainly wasnt good value . I was not offered any recompense which I was suprised it being part of such a good group. In my job (before my retirement)as a coaching co ordinator responsible for hotel booking/checking for coach holidays I have booked many Best Westerns but found this one very tired and lacking. The plus note would be the staff who were very friendly.

Excellent night out with partner and friends. Yet again another brilliant night. well organised. Food superb, always a good selection of well cooked food by Andy the chef and his team. Service from waiting on staff also excellent. Zoe, James, and Michelle had everything well organised on the night and staff were so helpful and friendly. Excellent value for money which included 3 course meal( NOT a set menu but a choice), cabaret artist and DJ Will certainly be returning to another theme night.

Claire R, Houghton le Spring 25/10/2016

Arrive at the Everglades 22nd October after a long drive . Staff friendly, given our room key . Our room wasn't great or that clean , spillages all over the walls. Bathroom old and dated . We had booked a family room, only to be told on arrival they was none left. The camp bed they had in the room was appalling. My 9 year old son sat on it and it collapsed. Complained to reception and where told they would replace it with a proper single bed . Breakfast was fantastic. Best western no way , but staff are a credit to the hotel. Would I stay again ? No way rooms are tatty not that clean and in need of a major update .

Stopped at this hotel as part of celebrating the 50th birthday of good friends. Easy access from the motorway makes this easy to find and it is a very pleasant comfortable hotel. Rooms are spacious and well decorated and the public areas are spacious and clean. A hotel we would use again.

"Fantastic little hotel!"

5
huwrobs, Bangor, United Kingdom 08/10/2016

I've stayed here a number of times over the past few months, and I've got nothing but positive things to say about the Everglades. Hotel staff are always friendly and welcoming, from the reception desk, to the restaurant and bar. I've always had a warm welcome when arriving at the hotel, and nothing is ever too much trouble! Rooms are well sized, and have always been spotless when I've stayed, and the bathrooms are fantastic. It's one of the only hotels I've been to where I actually fit in the bath properly (I'm 6ft2). This is especially welcome after a long day in work! Restaurant, I cannot fault the food. If you like pasta, give the carbonara a go, you won't be disappointed. The only thing that could be improved on is to put the pasta dishes in a larger bowl. The smaller bowls make everything seem a bit squashed. All in all, fantastic little hotel. Would definitely recommend for people staying in the area either for business or pleasure.

"Uncomfortable Bed"

4
2014Jandy, Nottingham, United Kingdom 08/10/2016

Stayed for just one night as we were visiting a couple of places nearby over the weekend. Car parking is good and free and check in was smooth and friendly staff member on reception explained everything. Room and bathroom were fine however the bed was one of the most uncomfortable ones we have slept on. This is due to the "king" sized bed actually being two singles zipped together leaving a large uncomfortable space in the centre with ridges and bumps. One night was enough! There was a note given to us explaining with the use of a traffic light system the best time to go down to avoid queues at breakfast. However this only works if breakfast is ready at the "green light" time. We arrived to find that everything was not set up and ready so it took another 15 minutes before it could be served there were people who had been there 5-10 minutes before us also having to wait. So queues started to form - not the greatest selection on the buffet but what was there was fine. Remember to get the code for the barrier on the way out of the car park.

Tom B, Witney, United Kingdom 07/10/2016

Considering the price I paid for the night I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. Very clean and well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was a wedding taking place the night I stayed and the rooms aren't very soundproof to the hallways so lots of people running up and down was quite disturbing. Although this was the only thing I could fault the hotel on, I can imagine on a quieter night it would be alright. I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast or bar so can't comment on them but for the purpose of my visit it was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

"Disturbed sleep, disappointing breakfast"

3
Andrew L, Doddiscombsleigh, United Kingdom 04/10/2016

Unfortunately we stayed over a weekend when there were wedding receptions both evenings. The closers on the room doors are very fierce so it's difficult to close the doors quietly so woken up in the early hours both nights be banging doors and one one night by loud talking in the corridor. However, room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing - staff not very attentive, orange juice and coffee very weak.

Stayed here while leaving our son off to uni. The rooms are bright, clean, airy and a good size. The shower is fantastic with really good water pressure. We had a bit of a blip over breakfast - which was very good. We were told on checking in that it was £10 each and my husband asked if we could just pay the next day and were told yes. When we went into breakfast the next morning the waitress said breakfast was £14.99 as we hadn't pre-booked. I complained that we hadn't been told (we obviously would have booked it) and as there were three of us, it did make a difference. She was adamant that this was their policy and we were annoyed. However when we checked out, we had just been charged £10!! I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay but just make sure you pre-book your breakfast.

Sandra C, Broadstairs 03/09/2016

Staff were really friendly. The hotel was clean and well presented. Food in the restaurant for the evening meal was good . The room for the wedding was beautifully presented. Plenty of parking and really close to the motorways, signage to the hotel was good. However the sandwiches for the high tea at the wedding, were slightly stale, the cheese plate needed more biscuits/bread and staff forgot to pour champagne for the speeches. Just a few tweaks and it will be perfect.

"One of the better hotels in Widnes"

4
Albermarle, Surrey 11/08/2016

The Everglades is situated on the edge of Widnes and there are fields on the other side of the road. So not the usual Widnes vista. The downside of this there is only one alternative for eating and drinking within normal walking distance ( a pub about 10/15mins walk away). There is a large car park but the outside appearance of the hotel is of a faceless motel like structure. Inside it is better although has a style from a few years ago. Everything seemed clean and check in was efficient. The room was very similar to a travel inn , so was fine if not bursting with character. Choice of beer was limited in the contemporary style bar and the restaurant was quite expensive , probably because they have a mainly captive market. Breakfast was OK for a buffet style. Did the job for a short business stay and as Widnes is not blessed with an abundance of acceptable hotels then will probably stay here next time I am in the area.

Good hotel under refurbishment, good clean hotel, room a good size with housekeeping excellent. Hotel appears to going under refurbhment, from the outside it is not particularly pretty, similar to an old eastern block concrete structure, however inside it's much nicer. The hotel is a bit remote, and nearest pub is a good 15 mins walk away. Had meal in bar area in the evening, which was OK. Breakfast is cooked buffet style and was excellent. Overall would recommend

Not what I expected. Was in a coach party of 25, stayed 3nights 4days, arrived at 5pm Friday 22nd July . Surprise,a wedding party in progress. No problem with check in . Dinner was at 7pm(not in the main dinning room) ok no problem I thought. My table was tucked in a corner, service very slow-waited 10 minutes after ordering soup(no bread rolls-sorry we do not supply) ??Had to wait 30 minutes before I received my main course. No reason given for the delay. By this time a party of 12 had arrived and seated themselves next to me . The noise from this party was ---!!! To say the least. Oh well, it was a Friday night. Next morning management did apologise to our driver for the delay at dinner. From then on the service did improve 100"/" .Arrived deck at the hotel Saturday at 5pm. Red carpet down -yet another wedding reception . This time a notice was on the bar door " Wedding Party Only" I felt what on earth am I doing here. Main dinning room again not available to us , therefore we had to be content with 6 easy chairs and a small table to use after dinner. Thank goodness the bed room was clean and spacious , bed comfortable. Only one "health and safety hazard " (all bathrooms) Most of us had a problem getting into the high sided bath , there being no safety fails and no bath mat for the shower. An accident waiting to happen.

We stayed at this hotel on the 22nd and 23rd of July for a family wedding. The hotel and staff were absolutely fantastic and could not do enough for us, especially Amy Potter. She was there all weekend and was always smiling and helpful beyond words. A great credit to the hotel. Would recommend if you are looking at wedding venues in the area. Alan and Jean

"A rare bad review for a Best Western Hotel"

2
Karen E, United Kingdom 21/07/2016

As a Best Western Diamond member - I normally stay stay at Best Western Hotels 30-40 nights a year - I've become accustomed to my free water, biccies and a nice smiley welcome. Here I got none of that and the wifi didn't work and I wasn't given the option of keeping my bill open so I could pay for drinks at the bar. For a hotel that is supposedly a conference centre the wifi was truly awful, and not for the first time. The rooms are lovely and the food is good, but the staff need lessons in how to smile at customers.

"In need of a refurb!"

We stayed here after a party at the hotel. The catering was really good, we enjoyed the food and breakfast was excellent. However, the hotel rooms are in dire need of an update. It is all very eighties-very clean but all the furnishings are tired. The bathrooms are functional but far from sumptuous. Very lumpy pillows! It did the job but wouldn't recommend unless you have no other option

"Better than expected - 3* hotel"

jenny9666, liverpool 10/07/2016

No complaints about this hotels exc you'll need earplugs if you're not staying up until late for a wedding or event; you can hear everything. Hotel staff are lovely although the bar is definitely overpriced. The place could do with a modern update but the bed was really comfy which is always a plus for any hotel. Worth the price we paid, breakfast was piping hot and hearty

"Paper thin walls."

2
Dee C, Canterbury, United Kingdom 01/07/2016

My room on the ground floor had curtains off the rails, dripping ball cock in the toilet along with paper thin walls, you could hear everything in the rooms next door, tiny duvet covers that didn't cover you if you turned over, carpets in need of a deep clean, window latches broken, did not make a good first night sleep. I was moved to a slightly larger room the second night on the second floor which was very basic. The hotel is in need of a total revamping and updating to more than a basic hotel. The food was above basic but hot food was not available after 21.30.

"Very above average for the usual Best Western"

4
applegate69, Bath, United Kingdom 29/06/2016

I stayed here for one night on business and I have stayed in quite a number of Best Western hotels and this one is way above the average. My room was very good and well equiped with Hair Dryer, Iron and Ironing Board, Tea/Coffee facilities and biscuits and also fairly good quality bathroom extras. there are two areas where you can eat one is the formal restaurant where you can get a 2 course meal for £19.95 which if you are on a business budget is a bit high once you have put a drink or two on the bill. The other area is the bar where they still have a good menu selection, however there are only a couple of stools where you can sit up at the bar otherwise you have your meal on a tray on your lap sat in an armchair or sofa, would be good to have at least a couple of tables for people to sit up properly and eat. All of the staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was also good, nice and hot and fresahly cooked. One negative is the lack of window locks in my room for a first floor window, easy for children to openm the window and potentially climb out. If I am back in the area I would stay again.

"Nice stay"

User 26/06/2016

We arrived, checked in (2 couples so therefore 2 separate rooms). Myself and my partner went to our room, and unfortunately the bathroom was not clean at all; I phoned my brother to see if his room was okay and it was. So I asked the lady on reception if we could move, and she was apologetic and moved us closer to my brother on the first floor. That room was fine although could do with a revamp; the hairdryer was very old and the pillows very thick and hard to lay on. My brothers room on the other hand had a door between his room and the next room (Presuming these are used when families stay). He did not like it because he could clearly hear everything that the people in the next room where saying and felt like he couldn't put the t.v on as he didn't want to disturb the people next door. I liked that every room had a iron and a power shower also the complimentary teas, coffees, hot chocolates and cookies. Overall a nice stay.

"Tired and in need of some attention"

2
Jonathan W, High Wycombe, United Kingdom 23/06/2016

Stayed here for a night. Shockingly uncomfortable bed that was so soft that you sank at least 2 foot just lying on it. I ended up having to put the duvet on the floor and sleeping on that. The hotel was tired and in need of a lick of paint - it looked like it was a bit unloved and past its best. The food in the restaurant was ok - even though that again was pretty drab with dirty glasses and culvery and damaged and sticky menus.

"Welcoming, comfortable hotel"

4
Tracey D, Kingston upon Hull 20/06/2016

This was our second stay at the Everglades and once again we were very satisfied with most elements of our stay. The hotel is perfectly placed for the short drive to Langtree Park for rugby, which was the purpose of our visit, and is also only 30 mins from Cheshire Oaks and Ikea, both of which we visited during our weekend stay. They staff at the hotel are, on the whole, very welcoming and attentive. Our only disappointment was the service we received at our first breakfast when we were made to feel inferior to guests who were staying at the hotel due to being guests at a wedding there. Other than this we enjoyed our stay in a lovely room with French doors and an extremely comfortable bed. The free internet service is excellent. A special thank you to the lady from housekeeping who went above and beyond in finding me some lavender pillow mist!

User 19/06/2016

Stayed here as we were at a wedding nearby. The room was clean but seemed a bit dated and carpet stained in quite a few areas. We heard very little noise during the night but didn't sleep well due the very lumpy pillows. Breakfast was okay but even at eight o'clock there was very little left on the continental side which didn't get replenished even though we were told they were fully booked. The location was perfect for us and we appreciated the secure car park. For what we paid it was a bargain but I would have been unhappy paying full price.

"Pleasant western"

User 17/06/2016

First visit and probably won't be the last to be fair to the place. Safe secure car park, clean, tidy, good staff, nice food, central location, reasonable price. No negative comments. Speedy check in and out by a very very pleasant well inked lady. Room was an ok size, double bed and seating area. Brilliant shower very powerful gets a 9. Food in the bar was very good and staff very welcoming and polite. The restaurant has had some money spent on it and it is to a high standard. Breakfast was good what you expect hot and cold buffet style. For the price it's a treat.

"'Worst Western'"

User 12/06/2016

At the time of booking (same day) we were never made aware that there was a wedding on which would have been a no go for us to start with. I'd always advise a hotel to make guests aware of this. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect anyone to curb their big day, but I don't expect to be treated as a second rate citizen by the hotel just because there is a wedding on. I have stayed at hotels hosting a wedding before and they have been brilliantly managed. Upon arrival we didn't get the greatest reception, "Can I help you?" Would have been nice. Many guest were milling about and two even pushed in front of us unchallenged. Clearly the girl on reception had had a lot to deal with already but each new guest should be treated with a smile. When we got to our room the pelmet was quite thick with dust and there was also a ripped bed sheet. It was rather noisy. The room was old and tired and needed a damned good clean. The electrical sockets around the room looked very questionable, sometimes one socket was layered on top of another! Certainly misleading from the pictures online. At 8pm we went down to our meal. The ambient music in the restaurant was only a background against the music of the wedding. The wine list was extortionate £72 for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and the meals certainly weren't worth the prices being charged. We had a bottle of wine for around £25 which would have probably been about £14-£16 in other hotels. Some of the waiting staff seemed inexperienced and weren't familiar with the menu or how things should work. The food was nice but not extraordinary. We had our starter and main then ordered dessert and an espresso. Our espresso arrived with the message that we would have to wait for our dessert as they were serving food to the wedding party! I always thought the coffee was served at the end of the meal. We made our way back to our room (discovering a very dangerous bannister on the stairs as we went) and as it was hot we opened the window. Unfortunately this meant we could hear the disco very loudly. The TV remote had seen better days and not all buttons worked. Eventually we had to make the choice between being too hot or no longer hearing the disco. Closing the window helped a little but it still took a long time before it was quiet enough to sleep. Shortly after, my husband awoke and began to feel ill. It could have been the chicken or the pork but something certainly had disagreed with him and he was kept awake for most of the night. All in all a dreadful nights sleep. We got up early for breakfast at 7:30 and already the continental choice was lacking / non existent. I asked if they were going to bring out any pastries only to be told that they only had a couple left as the ovens has been turned up to cook breakfast and they couldn't bake more. I remind you, this was at around 7:40. We even had to use table spoons to stir hot drinks and our table had been picked clean of jam for the toast. When we checked out we were never asked if we'd had a pleasant stay so I relayed our concerns to reception anyway. I was told that the manager would contact me when she arrived but it's now 4:30 and I've heard nothing. I can't say I'm surprised. We've stayed at many Best Westerns and been thrilled, even choosing one to spend the first night of our honeymoon at one. This hotel was by far the most disappointing. The one positive is that the wireless was adequate so we were able to drown out all of the noise by watching Netflix.

jacque h, Liverpool, United Kingdom 06/06/2016

1st time here, not sure if I would ever go back!! The meal was really nice, they take your orders for starters and desserts then you help yourself to a car very for mains. The food was hot and tasty and for the price was more than I bargained for. Entertainer was good and tried his best to get everyone involved. My problem was the place feels very cold and no atmosphere!! The bar is really small and there was only 1 person serving which meant you spend most of the night queuing for a drink!! Staff were friendly but I am always truthful with my reviews and I don't think it's my sort of place

User 06/06/2016

Arrived around 5 pm, was welcomed by the very friendly receptionist, after a nice chat and exchanges of witty humor we checked into our room. The room was clean and spacious, lovely linen and cozy bed. The shower was very powerful and just what you need after a long drive. We went to dinner around 7 pm, it was very quiet, didn't expect much more being a Sunday, we were taken care of by lovely Laura, she had a natural enthusiasm for her work which I love, she described the particulars of our deal as we travelled on a wowcher. My partner and I thought due to this we would be served up half portions as you do in most places on these deals. Couldn't of been more wrong, the portions and quality were Fab, forced my way through 3 delicious courses highly recommending the pancakes for desert fantastic. We travelled with our 9 nth old, the staff were more than happy cooking requested items for her at no extra cost. Just had yet another shower before going to breakfast which could consist of fried spam, would still leave us waxing lyrical about the place...... All for 69.00 quid, feel like leaving 50 quid on the bed.....

Just had a night stay here for my friends wedding and I've got to say I can't fault the hotel. Lovely hotel with very helpful staff. The double room we had was very spacious clean and comfortable. Iron and board in room aswel as tea and coffee making facilities. The bar area and function room was modern and clean. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style, it was hot , fresh and replenished regularly. I would definitely stay here again. 5 stars

Booked for a business trip with a colleague, and was very impressed - OK the decor was a little dated and tired (not too much) but decent WiFi for working, hot powerful shower and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was EXCELLENT quality, better than I've had in recent weeks, and I travel a lot. Final gift was the price - all in all - very good value.

"Top Stay in Widnes"

5
Karen E, United Kingdom 19/05/2016

When ever I tell people I am staying in Widness I always hear a groan of "poor you". However the Everglades is a lovely hotel, quietly situated opposite the Golf Course with great access to the main roads. And because Widnes is not considered to be as nice as Warrington or other parts of Cheshire its superb value for money. Bed in a large twin room, breakfast & 2-course evening meal £110. And of course BWs free Wifi. What a great deal !!!

"Last minute booking"

Managed to get a room booked on the morning I was going up to stay. Reasonably priced, clean and really comfortable beds. Has everything you need in the rooms, really good value. Also easy to find, signposted as you come off the motorway. What was really lovely was the fact it's surrounded by trees so you wake up to the sound of birdsong. I didn't have breakfast so can't rate the food

Well what a lovely surprise on arrival we arrived for the night to stay over as we was going to a party night at the hotel .They did a good deal in the room as we where at the function the room wad lovely bright clean and everything was catered for .The party night was excellent and great value the food was good to and great value .The only small compliant is there was a long long wait to be served at the bar and when we went down to the residents bar we where told we couldn't use it as we where at the function !!! Breakfast was very good would recommend the hotel and would definitely return thanks everglades

"Pleasant location in suburbs"

4
Anon_Kent_11, Sevenoaks, United Kingdom 29/04/2016

The hotel is used for weddings and other events and so I recommend checking what is on and asking for a quiet room as far away from the function rooms as possible. We were not disturbed by noise in spite of a wedding, hen night and 30th birthday party. We were also able to eat in the restaurant which is good as there are no restaurants within comfortable walking distance. There is no residents bar and so on some nights there is nowhere to sit apart from a small area in reception if the main bar is in use for a function. The problems people mention with hot water not being available seem to be resolved. The helpful lady on reception said that a new system being put in had caused problems for a while. If you are going by train into Liverpool then take your phone and taxi numbers as it is about 25 mins walk to the station which after a day out might feel too far to walk back. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

I would just like to thank Amy, James and Zoey along with all the unseen and dedicated team who contributed in making our day so complete and perfect. The whole process from booking the venue to the day itself, ran smoothly, Amy ensured it was stress free and all our needs and wishes where met. The bridal suite was amazing with a few surprises and special touches thrown in, both the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet were beautifully presented and tasted delicious, each and every guest commented on how spectacular the food was.. I would therefore recommend the Everglades as a wedding venue if you are seeking the perfect wedding package with that personal touch. Mr & Mrs Prescott

I had my daughters Christening/1st Birthday party here on Sunday 28th February 2016 and it was fantastic. We had the Biscayne Suite and a Carvery for 100 guests and every single one of our guests commented on how amazing the food tasted and how beautiful the room was. I want to say a huge thank you to James and the staff who made our day run so smoothly. It was perfect from start to finish. Our Family from Ireland also stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and could not fault the hotel or service.

"Worst Western hotel"

1
barker1948, Sheffield, United Kingdom 17/04/2016

Stayed here because we thought it looked the best in Widnes where we were attending a function. HOW WRONG CAN YOU BE. Room generally dirty. Lamp shade broken. Wall paper damaged. Dust on bedside lamps. Nasal waste on wall paper next to bed. Dressing table sticky. Heater coffee stained. Bedding clean but had a stain. Light switches and sockets dirty. TV screen not cleaned. Phone filthy. Kettle not clean. You couldn't have a shower without soaking the bathroom floor. The breakfast is OK but very average except the serving facilities are terrible. If you don't want to queue for 15 to 30 minutes you need to be up early. It was the only room as the hotel was fully booked with a wedding and we didn't have time to go elsewhere or we certainly would have. All this and it's not cheap at £84 a night which is OK if it's good. It's obvious that there is a lack of care and little management. Because it could be good. DON'T GO!!!!

"Check to see if a wedding function is on before you book."

3
M K, Greystanes 08/04/2016

The hotel was of a good standard, the staff are lovely but the promotion of weddings now means travellers suffer when drunk wedding guests take over the hotel, disrupt the peace and tranquility of what should have been a pleasant stay, we weren't allowed to sit in the bar, very disappointed with my stay and no apology or recompense was offered.

Finally returned to my favourite hotel! Stay was fab; clean, quiet and staff doing above and beyond as always. I honestly can not thank management and staff enough on how well I'm looked after. The new biscuits in the rooms are lovely and the shower system that is in the middle of an upgrade will be great when its done. Honestly can't wait to be back again!

"Needs updating "

3
missnatalie98, Birkenhead, United Kingdom 27/03/2016

Upon arrival we were given room 128 and can't fault the room whatsoever, lovely big room with a big tv, coffee and tea, fruit, cookies, bath robes and slippers etc and lovely and warm! We had the afternoon tea for two which we got off wowcher, which was ok could of been better not worth the price! Two tiny profiteroles, 2 tiny pieces of carrot cake and 2 tiny pieces of sponge with a scone each and not very nice sandwiches which where really skinny. The leisure facilities need updating badly, the hand rails on the jacuzzi are very wobbly not very safe and everywhere needs a good clean and scrub! The sauna and steam are ok again they need a good scrub and especially the changing area. I had a massage in cleopatras which was amazing however not very relaxing you can see the pool area from the spas reception, looks quite tacky to me, basically needs a whole makeover to look more relaxing and needs to be more separate from the pool/gym area, we decided to have tea in the restaurant as the bar food although cheaply priced could only be eaten at the bar where there were people constantly walking in and out as you could see reception from the bar etc all open plan, did regret this because in the restaurant the lights were on really bright, noisy children and people walking past constantly they need to do something so the layout of the restaurant is more relaxing, quiet and so you can eat your meal in peace. The Meal was nice, the spring roll slightly greasy, the pork was lovely but the potatoes a little soggy. We did see someone eating the bar food in the restaurant which we were told wasn't allowed which was annoying! The bar area was full of kids at 10pm running around etc so we just went to bed haha! All in all was nice to get away for the night with my partner after having twins 3 months ago wouldn't go back but was an ok stay x

Stayed overnight and was pleasantly surprised due to the price i paid. Rooms clean and tidy and staff helpful. Happy to stay again and would recommend for a overnight stay. In a quiet part of town so no noise from passers by or traffic as the road is a good distance from the hotel.

"Convenient for the airport"

4
Alan C, Powys, United Kingdom 25/03/2016

This was used as a stop over prior to an early morning flight from Liverpool, airport is about 15 mins away. Hotel presents an impressive image, however, the budget price we paid reflected it's location which is convenient rather than a destination in own right. Room was comfortable, bar food excellent and staff were helpful. Restaurant looked expensive. Beware, booking requests didn't seem to have filtered through to hotel - e.g no bed prepared for our 3 year old. This was quickly resolved on arrival however.

"Exceeded Expectations"

5
Carolyn R, Manchester, England, United Kingdom 22/03/2016

I had read a few poor reviews on this hotel prior to my stay. Was pleasantly surprised by the decor and quality of the room - windows opened out onto veranda, bed was large and comfortable. The highlight was the food in the restaurant - much more high-end than you would expect, and service was excellent. After meal, relaxed in tastefully decorated coffee lounge with delicious Russian coffee. Good location, easy to find and ample parking.

Lovely venue, been here many times and always had a very good experience. We recently had my daughter's Christening here and we were very pleased with service. The staff took care of everything and were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend as a party venue!

"Extremely noisy stay"

3
User 14/02/2016

Room was dated and cold. There was an old electric heater on the wall but the heat was escaping through a drafty window. Only 2 plugs in the whole of the room so had to keep unplugging the TV to use the kettle or chargers. The rooms nearby were occupied by noisy visitors who didn't care about other residents as they shouted to each other along the corridor at 2.15am. Very limited choice for breakfast. Had to keep asking for simple things like sauce and it took ages for staff to remove used crockery from the table even though we were the only people in the restaurant. Very disappointed and did not feel we'd had value for money.

Claire H, Consett, United Kingdom 02/02/2016

During a contract with United Utilities Oct 15 - Feb 16, I have stayed at this hotel from Monday to Thursday each week. In all this time I have not experienced one cause for complaint. The service, food and room keeping have all been first class. I was also able to agree a regular day rate very quickly. In addition, due to family circumstances, I bring my 2 dogs with me who stay in a dog day care near the hotel during the day - a Labrador and a Dalmatian. The staff have been superb in welcoming them and helping me with these arrangements. Overall, top notch and I'd recommend to anyone.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family over Christmas. Finding a hotel to accommodate our family of 5 usually proves difficult. We were really pleased that we were able to book 2 interconnecting rooms here which was perfect. Our evening meal on arrival on the first night was brilliant, we all really enjoyed it and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were fab, a choice of a continental buffet style breakfast and a full English (and anything in between). The staff were great and very attentive. Great location and easy to find - would recommend and will stay again next time we're visiting family and friends!

We are still very disgruntled as to why you haven't replied to a grievance email that was sent to yourselves the morning of our departure earlier on this month. Surely customer satisfaction is a massive part to any companies infrastructure in modern business. From the moment of entering the hotel we was greeted by a young lady whom seemed to of been distributed and looked as if I had rudely interrupted her chat with her colleague. Then upon arrival into my room; granted I was not expecting the Ritz but bath panels hanging off ? Even when the shower door ( if you can describe it as a door ) was closed the water that was on the floor was horrendous ! Which was reported after another guest forgot to put his wellingtons on to get out of the shower and slid across the floor.... Wall paper pealing away from the walls ? I could carry on but all in all a reply to the email sent would of been at least a small gesture of recognition.

"Christmas Dinner!!"

This is our fifth year for Christmas dinner and as always we couldn't fault it! Excellent choices of starters and well presented and so tasty! The carvery is delicious 4 different choices of meat or vegetarian choice. 3 choices of desserts which just finished the meal off perfect! Followed by coffee, tea and mince pies! Value for money is excellent! All staff were so friendly and attentive!!!! Only fault I have and it's no fault of the hotel or staff, parents need to keep a check on their children we were punished by children running around and shouting whilst we were eating! Maybe a suggestion for the hotel keep the smaller room for people without young children!

Great team on reception during my stay, nothing was too much trouble. Evening meals were excellent and the chef certainly knows how to cook a steak to the way I wanted it. Room was clean and tidy and I got a great nights sleep. The only negative comment is the Hotel WiFi - a bit slow but it was Free

Every year for the past 5 years we have been coming to this hotel for the Christmas party firstly when we arrived at the hotel they had raised the price then while the men where waiting for us to join them they were sitting in the lounge having a drink and we're told to move out of there in a very unpleasant way then we were told that are party had been moved to upstairs we had to disabled guest with us who found it very hard to go up and down the stairs we were told to just get on with it then when we went upstairs the we were squashed between to table with not much room to move then when my husband when to the bar we were over charged then one of the staff took a bottle of wine that still had wine in it also the drink are so over priced I mean 18 pound for a house wine really then in are room the bed was just two single bed pushed together also the socket in the room doesn't work there was no remote for the TV and the shower was freezing and the on arrival we were asked to fill in are details so we could get a free paper which we never received and all the reception could say well we have got none left so what you want us to then after coming from breakfast none of are card to get in room would work one of are parties are disabled and another has had cancer and couldn't get in his room to use the toilet when I asked why none of are cards worked there reply was they get shut off at 10.30 well we paid until 11.00 so overall are stay was disgusting and we will not be returning after 20 of us paying 139 pound each and buying overpriced drinks at the bar we were treated disgusting and the 3 lady on reception are very rude and I would consider giving them a lesson in manners and customer service !! So I dont advise you stay here

We stayed here as part of a National Holidays trip. When we pulled up outside, I was quite shocked as it looked very dated and needed to be painted outside. I felt it was in the middle of nowhere so you couldn't go out and explore. We were then given our room which was located on the second floor. The staff at reception were very efficient as there was many of us to check in. I felt like our room was basic compared to other hotels I have stayed at. The food was very nice from our set menu but the prices at the bar was very expensive for both alcoholic and soft drinks. Breakfast for a buffet style which was great and nice range of food. The food and staff service made the stay more enjoyable.

"Basic good hotel"

David E, Bridgewater, New Jersey 14/11/2015

This a basic hotel in Widnes for the casual traveler. The rate was pretty good for England. The staff were excellent. The room came with breakfast. While the dining arrangements were Spartan, the meal was adequate if not great. The room was clean and large enough. The view of the parking lot left much to be desired. The security is odd with a passcode available in the lobby so you must be checked in to know it.

"Welcoming Smile!"

Like many other guests of this hotel, this is my home from home four nights a week whist I have been working in the area these past three months. When you arrive at the hotel, you are always greeted with a warm smile from the members of the efficient reception staff headed up by Michelle. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you will always find the documentation ready for you so there is no delay getting to your room. All the rooms are comfortable, with light and airy decor and large comfortable beds. A nice touch is a fresh bottle of water replaced every day with the usual coffee and tea making facilities supplemented with hot chocolate and shortbread biscuits. There is also a nice food selection of bar menu, or in the restaurant, a la carte or table d'hote. Breakfast is a buffet style of either continental or full english. A member of staff who stands out in this department is Amy. Always happy to ensure your food is right. If I had any criticism at all, it would be that the hotel could do with redecorating in places but I am sure this will happen. All in all, excellent value and excellent staff.

"Well Managed Hotel"

I stayed here for one night with a small dog prior to attending a Dog Show. I could not find any fault with the accommodation provided. The staff were extremely gracious, the food was excellent, the room was excellent and I had a very comfortable nights sleep despite there being a wedding function. My room was on the ground floor at the back of the Hotel .All in all a very well managed hotel.

My home from home whilst working in the area for the last seven months. From the moment you walk through the door, nothing is too much trouble, your greeted with a warm welcome and smile by a super efficient reception team. Bar is well stocked, has a great selection and is reasonably priced as far as hotels go. Their is an excellent choice of menus to choose from be it, bar, table d'hote or a la carte, you wont be disappointed and the service provided by the bar and dining staff is terrific. Breakfast is very good, plentyful, buffet style, english or continental, perfect start to the day. Rooms are large and spacious, clean and the beds are very comfortable. All in all, excellent value , highly recommended. Declan

Stayed here at the weekend for 2 nights whilst on a tour with Newmarket Holidays. The hotel is very nice, has spacious rooms, very clean with very comfortable beds, the staff were very friendly and very accommodating, nothing too much trouble. The food was very good with a good choice for starters, main & sweet for the evening meal. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice too. All in all we couldn't fault this hotel and wouldn't hesitate in staying here again if we happen to be in the area.

"Satisfactory"

Stayed for a Saturday night in October whilst visiting Liverpool. Hotel offers excellent value for money compared to staying in Liverpool itself whilst only a short drive away. The hotel got busy at night with a function on downstairs and the only down point seemed to be how thin the bedroom walls were as we were kept awake by people running up and down the corridor for a while.Apart from that the hotel is on a par with Travelodges and Premier Inns and offers a satisfactory nights accommodation for a budget price.

It's not an especially appealing place to stay but the staff are kind, the rooms clean and you get what you pay for. They don't really have a variety of rooms too chose from, they're all pretty much the same

"Location, location, location"

It's difficult to know what customers this hotel serves. It advertises itself as a hotel and conference centre and, as far the the latter is concerned it could not be better sited: there is very little around here to distract; it's situated in a largely residential district. It does mean that you do not have much alternative choice where eating is concerned. We were here for a family birthday party and most guests were staying overnight, the event being planned to go on till late. As far as that was concerned the location could not be better: easy to get to with abundant parking. The hotel though is not new and shows some signs of lack of investment. The corridor carpet to the rooms from reception is somewhat threadbare, improving as the further rooms are reached, a natural result of less foot traffic. Were this alone to be replaced, the appearance of the hotel would be vastly improved. First impression count! However, our room (122) was spacious, well maintained, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hanging space for clothes was just a pole across an alcove by the door but with a generous number of hangers. We had no problems. Heating is by electric convector heater with hard to see controls on the end of the panel, but the one and only heater for the entire suite worked well enough once it got going. The bed was comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. There was absolutely no problems with noise. The bathroom was clean and everything worked. There was a bath and a wall mounted shower at the end, separated from the rest of the room by a glass screen. The water came though hot quite quickly and with an adequate flow. A wall mounted liquid soap dispenser is provided for shampooing and showering. Towels are sufficient in number and good quality. If there is one complaint it is one that can be made of just about every hotel: not enough hooks and rails. The towels were hung at the end of the bath where they could have been better located where they had better opportunity to dry. We didn't have dinner here but we did have breakfast in the restaurant the following morning. The restaurant is clearly one part that has received attention. It was attractively and, seemingly, recently decorated. Breakfast provided a good range of choice, both hot and cold, and all at the same price. I did have to ask for scrambled eggs as only fried where on display, but this arrived promptly. Otherwise, no issues. Service was friendly and welcoming. At just under £90 for the two of us, including breakfasts, it was decent value for money. All in all, so long as you are prepared to overlook the signs of wear, this is a good hotel. We would have no qualms about staying here again should we find ourselves in the area.

"Staff are great"

Lets be clear , Decor wise -the hotel could do with a few being spent on it, But having stayed here many times now 20+ nights this year alone, I can say that that is more than made up for by the attitude of the staff who i always find helpful and very welcoming. The beds are always clean and rarely do you get a disturbed nights sleep. The food I usually have (steak with peppercorn sauce) is well prepared tasty and gristle free. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

"Not good for a disabled room"

3
Tony J, Norwich, England, United Kingdom 15/10/2015

Booked so that we could attend a funeral locally, and specifically asked for a disabled room, whilst the location of the room within the hotel was good, and all the amenities were on the one floor, it was not suitable for a person in a wheelchair. The shower was over the bath so no chance of using it, there was a grab rail over the toilet with the toilet roll holder just below it! etc etc

"Lovely night stay"

Standards in this hotel have hit rock bottom. Had to fix my own bathroom door to take s shower. Actual shower was filthy, asked for it to be cleaned and nothing happened. Hotel carpets were threadbare in some places Book somewhere else if you can

"excellent hotel"

spent all day at a wedding here at the Everglades Widnes. i had preconceptions of the hotel, don't know why, but what a suprise. The hotel was fantastic. Clean. large clean room. Excellent staff throughout the hotel. i would not hesitate to stay here again. Only negative was the price of soft drinks at the bar. £1.95 for half a lemonade was a rip off. Drinks were otherwise in line with what you get charged at a wedding.

"Great stay for business and pleasure"

Niall M, Whitehead, United Kingdom 18/09/2015

The staff at the hotel are nothing short of phenomenal. Extremely friendly welcome and your made feel very at home. Wee 'Amy' will tend to your every need with a smile and a spring in her step. Rooms are clean and comfortable and they have all you need to make your stay relaxing and leave you wanting for nothing. The hotel food is nothing short of satisfyingly tasty although a weekly change of the bar menu would be advantageous, especially if your here for work and eat in the hotel each night. All in all its a hotel worth visiting for business or pleasure and its location is also handy to Liverpool airport and Docks.

"Worst night "no" sleep after long flight"

User 05/09/2015

The hotel was ok. However, there was a group of rude guests who were in the hallway falling all over the place, talking vey loudly and knocking on doors and slamming doors. They came in around 3am and were rowdy until about 4:30 and then were up at 7 am knocking on their doors. My husband went out three times to tell them to quiet down. They had the nerve to ask him to help pick up their drunk friend off the floor. We called the front desk and ran and ran. No one ever answered the entire time. We told the desk clerk in the morning. She said the desk was staffed 24 hours. Well not sure where that person was. We were offered no resolve. I thought those people should pay for our room or at least the hotel should have done something more. We got no sleep!!!! The clerk said the manager wasnt going to be in until later.

The Service was what made the stay fantastic. The room was spacious and very clean. Toiletries and free mineral water were great. Breakfast was very nice and the staff serving were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The only thing that could be improved would be more powerful showers. Other than that I could honestly say that this hotel is the best value for money I have ever been to. Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful and just very nice. The receptionists were amazing and the cleaning staff were always happy to clean the rooms whenever it suited you. I never felt hurried out of my room. It is a 3 star hotel as far as amenities etc but the staff make it a 5 star hotel.
