We wanted this to be a good place, but won't do it again. Saw many bugs in the room-small roaches? Not a pleasant experience. Please don't reply - with the “pat answer” sorry for your inconvenience, instead do something to improve your place. Seems like a major overhaul to fix other problems reviewed.
Can't complain about the cost, needed to find a spot on short notice and other reviews I've seen seemed favorable and area is not easy to find hotels in. Staff was very nice, can't be easy handling a hotel that needs a lot of upgrading. They did have a very nice set up for breakfast but having a cup of coffee getting ready to leave in the morning without have to put on your clothes and go to the dining area would have been nice. Unfortunately upon check-in was told there was no television service, but had free WI-FI and I was 'ok' with that until we realized everyone else was using it and you would get kicked off it every 4 minutes or so. Room was fairly clean, bedding clean but attention to detail was missing, toilet was missing nuts to hold it to the floor, shower fixtures were loose. Sink and mirror are (outside of toilet/shower area) were clean, towels and washcloths were clean. 2nd morning water pressure was very bad during 1 of our showers, we assumed because all the guests were trying to get a shower in at that time. 2 bed, 2 guest room and the complimentary coffee in the room only had 1 regular and 1 decaf brew pack. We were there basically only to sleep, if it had been a room we required more from I wouldn't have stayed and found something else no matter how far away.
I definitely would not advise anyone to stay here! No cable, dusty room, lean breakfast, shelf about to fall! Lots of customers were complaining mostly about the lack of TV! I don't think this motel should be associated with the Best Western name!
We checked into this hotel after waiting about ten minutes on someone to arrive at the front desk. Once finally getting checked in, we went to our room. In our room we found loose hairs all over the bathroom floor, crumbs of soap all over the sink counter. The room itself smelt so bad we couldn't even handle to stay in the room. We took our stuff to the car and left. Several other guests had the same experience that weekend. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would sleep in my car before I slept in one of their beds.
Had to pack up and leave the hotel because we were getting bit by bed bugs. Turned the lights on and moved the mattress…MANY bed bugs! We took video and photos. During QUICKLY packing up, we killed a cockroach and 2 fleas. Worst experience EVER! The hotel smells horrible, and the rooms are moist and smell like mildew. There is a dehumidifier in the room. The furniture looks like it came from the side of the road. Awful, AWFUL experience!!!! We stay at hotels 365 days a year for work, and this is by far the worst! If I could leave negative stars, I would!
Despite there being limited choices in Manchester, IA, you would be better served just to stay away. There is no customer service, basically had to check myself in to hotel. The rooms are very unclean. Don't expect any kind of breakfast. Its a room and thats about it.
Heating/air unit needs cleaning or totally replaced. Terrible air smell. Walls need washing, new light fixtures and plug ins and phone charging ports by beds.Total bathroom makeover is needed. New mattresses possibly. Unprofessional staff atmosphere with staff living right behind counter although they were nice.
Rooms were not clean. Smelled musty/moldy. Bathroom was very dirty. Hotel needs some updating and a lot of cleaning. Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. With a new hotel in the town, there needs to be some fixes to compete.
Unmaintained on the outside. Garbage can out front overflowing. Trouble getting our room even with a reservation. Once we got our room, it had not been cleaned. Like a tornado had hit the room. And it stunk. It took a long time to get our reservation cancelled. By the time we were driving away the family was now out in the parking lot with lawn chairs playing in front of the overflowing garbage can. Go elsewhere.
Having stayed here before I knew what to expect, but was in for some disappointments. We had room 120. First, the plate where you tap the room key to enter was duct taped. Second, the top drawer of the dresser was held shut by a package with napkin. If it was removed the drawer stayed open. In addition, the other 2 drawers were hard to open. The dresser, desk area and night stand had scratches and dings. The draw on the nightstand did not close all the way. Third the toilet rocked when sat on, the seat was also loose. Forth, dirt & dust in corners, coffee package behind the dresser. Breakfast food was sparse. Good things: bed comfortable, air conditioner cooled well, water pressure good with lots of hot water. Price was $77 a night which is a little high with the condition of the room.
We stayed there for a wedding in a double queen suite. We liked the room. Nice and spacious. We thought it had a pull out couch but turned out to be a regular loveseat. Wasnt a big deal though. Cleanliness was pretty good. However, kids found a watch and airpod in the room that wasnt ours so could use a little work. Comfy beds. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. No pool, but wasnt a big deal since we didnt have time to use one anyway. Continental breakfast is small but will do. There are a couple nice restaurants near by if prefer a larger breakfast. Room was well priced. Overall we were happy with our stay.
Having stayed here before we knew this was a pretty basic motel. We had a room with 2 beds on the first floor. The room seemed clean but in need of deep cleaning. The furniture was worn with multiple nicks and scrapes. There was a folded piece of cardboard under one of the legs of the dresser/tv stand to stabilize it. The mini refrigerator needed defrosting. The lighting was good with several lamps along with flexible reading lights beside each bed. The beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast included sausage patties, egg patties, waffles, cereal, muffins, toast, coffee. The motel could use an update but overall our stay was okay.
We stayed here two nights because our vehicle was being fixed. Room needed maintenance - toilet was wobbly, sink faucet was only partially attached, carpet hadn't been swept, freezer was frozen over, fridge was very difficult to get into, shower curtain rod was broken. Breakfast was typical of motel - nothing special but adequate. The room had a very unpleasant smell that never went away.
Stayed here one night while my husband rode RAGBRAI across Iowa. Clean comfy room. Breakfast ok, a little sparse, they had run out of a few items but front desk person restocked when asked. No USB charging so bring your plug adapter. Would stay again.
The room was nice, but what made this an amazing experience was the customer service. While there, we experienced an emergency. The manager worked with us, and was flexible with check out times. He was understanding and kind. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
The beds were comfortable and there was good water pressure, but cleanliness of our room and breakfast options left something to be desired. The room I booked said it had a sofa sleeper, but it was just a regular 2 person couch so you couldn't even sleep on it. It was convenient to where we wanted to be so it served it's purpose.
This is an older hotel in my hometown that has been through several owners. In my past experience, I would not have recommended this hotel, but now I definitely would. Very friendly staff and the updates throughout the premises were a pleasant surprise. Clean!
Our stay was excellent. Easy to find. Nice clean room, recently updated. Adequate hot breakfast, not just junk food. Only possible drawback is no elevator, but we were able to get a first floor room, so it was no issue. Real good family restaurant nearby, highly recommend eating there. This was just a really enjoyable stay!!!
We were very pleased with our stay at the SureStay Hotel in Manchester, Iowa. Our rooms were extremely clean and comfortable - no musty smell which is often found in most hotel rooms. The beds and bedding were excellent. The staff was friendly and accommodating, giving us excellent advice for places to eat. Since we were there for a family wedding, it was wonderful to have a good quality iron and ironing board. The location of the hotel has a lot of advantages. Next door is a 24-hour convenience store/gas station that carried a wide selection of foods and household items. On the other side of the hotel - next door is a pizzeria and then the WalMart is less than a quarter mile down the road. Only one con - the bathroom was quite small. Do not let the simple exterior of the hotel dissuade you from staying at this hotel. If we happen to be in this area again, we will most definitely stay at this hotel.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Check in was fairly quick. We had a room with 2 queen beds. The room had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. It seemed to be clean and the beds were comfortable. The temperature was in the high 90s and the air conditioner in the room worked quickly to cool and maintain the coolness! There was good light in the room including a separate lamp between each bed along with a flexible high intensive light on each side which made reading in bed easy. The hotel has a continental breakfast but due to Covid 19 it was closed. The office had limited hours, opening at 6 am; not sure when it closed but guessing around 9 pm. I tried to get there at 6:30am but the door was still locked. While this is not a deal breaker, I would prefer it to be open when stated or open 24 hours. Overall, this hotel was a nice surprise and we would stay there again.
My husband and I stayed here for eight nights. We had a king size bed with plenty of space in our room. The rooms have been upgraded recently--very pleasant. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is a washer and dryer on site which I find to be most important when traveling. There is no other place we want to stay when in the area. Best value in town and the surrounding area. Location is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
This hotel is always clean and has friendly staff. Very convenient location to highway access and eating/shopping. Nice upgrades to rooms in the last few years of staying here with attractive room redecorating. They always welcome our large breed dog with only a minimum extra charge.
I stayed here tonight as I had a wedding to attend. It was a very pleasant stay. Everything was well taken care of and was convenient for me to use. Someplace I would definitely stay again were I in the area.
We booked a Queen suite that was advertised as 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. When we arrived we had an extra child with us so I confirmed that the sofa was a bed and the front deck clerk stated that you sleep on the sofa that it is not a sofa bed. I showed her my confirmation and she began to get Agitated With all my questions. The best she could do was cancel my room. Lady, I'm 5 hours from home, we need some beds! We don't sleep on a couch, we sleep in a bed! Front desk women changed her story on why they did not have any sofa beds multiple times during my checkin. Needless to say we will stay elsewhere. Here is a picture of the sofa bed.
Rooms were awesome. 2 queen beds a couch and comfortable chair also. Perfect for family vacation. Has a fridge and microwave and grill out area. Close to stores for anything you forgot to bring with and convenience stores have healthy snacks for the kids too.
Excellent customer service, extremely clean rooms and very comfortable bed, Hot Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. Will suggest to stay at this location in an heart beat. Great return for your money.
It is an older property, that really needs an update. There are only 2 hotels in town, so your options are limited. The rooms are large, but the small beds, and the old furniture kind of makes the place run down. It appears the carpets in the hall ways were new, but over all the rest of the hotel just is old. The bathrooms are very small, with the sink outside. The eating area is very small, and a very limited selection. With limited options, it was ok/decent for a nights stay.
It was really really nice stay. My room was absolutely clean and nice furnished. I really like the bed, had a good sleep! The staff was awesome and the breakfast was too good. There has been lots of update at this place. There is good pizza place right next to this hotel, so didn't have to go far for food and Walmart is also in walking distance. It really nice hotel in really nice town. I will recommend this place to my family and friends.
Had an overall we had a good experience. Had to find someone to check in and check out. No one at front desk. Room smelled musty. Beds were comfortable. Good location to the wedding we were attending.
i was there fri 7-13 for 1 night. the room was clean and spacious, looks like it been remodeled. the breakfast was standard continental breakfast. it was clean, quiet and close to restaurants, convenience stores. no complaints at all. price was reasonable, would stay there again if in the area
Extremely friendly staff here. They remembered someone else from my company who stayed here recently and welcomed us back. The rooms are as clean as can be. The area left much to be desired, but there's the basic fast-food restaurants nearby. I would love to stay here again, though it's rare we ever get sent out to that area any more. It is a budget hotel, but they really make the most out of what they're given with great customer service and clean rooms.
