Best Western Plus Jeonju Hotel

In and out with our tour. A no-frills 3-star hotel; the 4-star rating is for its overall amenities and friendly staff. The room size is good, as is the bathroom. Geneva Guild toiletries (no hand lotion); comfy bed and pillows. The location isn't bad: tour mates found dinner nearby. Breakfast is fine, with many varieties. The breads look very inviting but it's too early for me. The coffee machine offers latte (the one in Seoul didn't). A small gym and free laundry (1,000 won to buy the detergent pod, about $0.73). The town is charming.

Please be aware - this is a very basic 3 star stay. Feels like a basic cheap motel/hostel. Nothing like the pictures appeared. We stayed for 2 nights as a family. Firstly - the check in process was nothing like we had ever experienced around the world. After a long day of travel we arrived at 1440 perfect time for 1500 check in. We arrived at the desk and the lady told us check in is at 1500, we said yep let's start the process now. She said it would be 5000 won ($50 AUD which is 50% of the room cost per night) to check in. She then made us sit and wait in the lobby as wouldn't check in without paying her. All the other guests arriving had the same issue and we all ended up sitting in the lobby waiting, all making confused faces among one another. The staff stood at the desk doing nothing during this time while the lobby was full with people trying to check in. The lady then came and handed us all numbers to check in. This meant we didn't even get checked in and to our room until 1530 which was 50 minutes after we arrived. When we got to our floor there was housekeeping with rubbish and linen everywhere covering the hallways. Our room was dirty with black hair all in the bathroom, clearly the wait wasn't for them to finish cleaning as it was subpar. The room is tiny - no basics are offered at all. No plates, no cutlery, no microwave. They have a fridge that fits merely one drink, so don't be expecting to store food or any supplies. They have no microwaves in the room and 1 microwave next to the gym in the hallway for the entire hotel. We tried to ask for a plate to carry our hot food back to our room and the staff refused to give us one until my husband explained we will burn ourselves. Having plates and cutlery in rooms is the bare minimum. I have never experienced any “hotel” that refuses basics. They want you to pay for everything it seems. They state they provide nothing due to government regulations but every other hotel (3 others) we stayed at in Korea all supplied these. The beds were tiny and barely fit 2 adults side by side. Also family room only gets 2 towels despite having 3 guests, good luck getting any more either as staff will refuse basics. Pillows are so thick your neck will ache and the bed is hard as a rock. Staff barely speak English which is strange for a hotel called the best western, they're also rude and just stand at the desk offering no service or assistance to guests to make the stay nice. Good for $100 a night and comparable to basic motels and hostels in other countries. Pool is closed and only open in summer, hotel is basic and old. 2 lifts for entire hotel and there slow, if you want to go use the microwave it'll take about 20 minutes to get down and back to room. Expect an extremely basic no frills hostel style stay and you won't be dissapointed there. Don't expect anything with any basic amenities or luxuries. 24 hour convenience store across the road kept us afloat, they have us chopsticks and basic things for us to take back to our room so we could at least eat something in our room. They also assisted with into at the shop that the hotel staff had no interest or lack of English to assist with. For a 2 night basic stay It was fine. But without any basics at all you wouldn't be able to stay longer than a night or 2 without being extremely uncomfortable and have great difficulty being able to eat or do anything in your room.

Really good "modernish" hotel. Located about 12-15min walk to the old town. You do walk through some back streets, but all fine didn't feel unsafe coming back late a night after seeing the old town, palace and bridge at night. Korea is very safe. The room cant be faulted , size ok, bed very comfortable, clean, bathroom and shower excellent. Only thing is it can be a little noisy . door closing , people talking in the corridor etc, nut not a showstopper. We noted that that is poplar with tour groups . The lifts are terribly slow, but your on holiday not rushing to get into the office . So no biggie.Would recommend id you don't feel like staying in the Hanok Village. Having been now next time might stay in the Village. Some parts of the village and Hanoks are very nice. Was a little nervous so went with Western Hotel, not overly disappointed as it ticked a lot of boxes.

Stayed here for one night on our Gate 1 Tour, passing by from Seoul to Busan. Pros: Spacious Room. No nonsense bathroom with soap dispensers. Robes and slippers provided. Cons: The towels in the bathroom were worn beach towels. Extremely quiet area. Not a lot to do there. Not a lot of places to eat at. No convenience stores nearby. Breakfast was not anything special. They only had scrambled eggs. Customer service at the front desk needs improvement. For one night, I mean, it worked. More than that, look elsewhere. Nothing special here.

Convenient location,nice breakfast, attentive staff,small but adequate rooms make this a nice affordable three star property

A nice hotel within walking distance to the Hanok Village (about a kilometer or so). We got upgraded and had a lovely spacious room which included a bar area. We appreciated the kettle. The room had every amenity you might want. Free laundry do it yourself service was a major plus. Reception staff were pleasant and polite but their command of English was surprisingly not great.

Hotel is in a spot that allows an easy walk to many food or entertainment options, although the street it is on is very quiet. The rooms are well appointed and a good size, with reasonably comfortable bedding. Handy that there is also a coffee shop in the lobby. Lifts can take a while however while it is busy and the breakfast available on our stay was very much consistent of the basic options you would expect.

A  very nice, well appointed hotel which is comfortable, clean and quiet. Aircon works really well. It appears not to be a place where many tourists stay, the reception staff on duty when we were there couldn't even point out the location of the hotel on the map.  We wanted to walk to the cultural village late afternoon but were advised it was a very long way.  We are good walkers, but were directed right and right upon leaving the hotel when in fact it was left and right! Consequently we ended up in what looked like a major retail area and not where we wanted to be. Despite the inconveniences, the hotel was nice, we'd recommend staying there.

Best Western is not 5 mins walk from shops that have eateries and cloths top brands represented Uniqlo, Nike to name a few. When you exit hotel turn right and at crossing at end of street cross over and keep walking for pastry and eatery shops . Hungry Jacks once crossed at crossing turn right for HJ the only western food that I found the chicken sandwich is plane and simple. No toiletries,2 bottles of complimentary water, bed comfortable ,hairdryer, hot shower, safe . Go to roof for view over Jeonju

Came in late afternoon. Quick check in and up to Avery clean room. Had a good breakfast which caters to both local and western pallets The hotel has a free laundry with dryer which was very useful after a few days travel Very friendly and helpful staff at the desk

The location: an easy walk to the shopping and dining areas (I can recommend Ay Mamita if you want a change from Korean food). The room:  The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very nice.  The pillows were way too fat (I used my neck cushion instead).  Others in our group also complained about this. Toiletries provided include toothbrushes, bulk sized body wash, shampoo and conditioner.  Moisturiser was not provided. The worst part was the sensor light in the entrance hallway.  It triggers whenever someone goes to the bathroom during the night disturbing the other person still sleeping.  Pack something to cover the sensor in the middle of the light and you'll sleep much better!  There is no top sheet, just a very thick quilt so you either melt or go uncovered.  The fridge is very small with no freezer space. The buffet breakfast: Great variety and kept well stocked throughout. The fitness centre:  Rather disappointing. It was very hot in there.  I asked staff for help but that made no difference. There are 2 treadmills, a bike and some free weights but no bench.  The treadmills have very narrow running tracks and one didn't work at all as the magnet was missing.  Staff just shrugged when asked about this.  No water or towels are available in the fitness centre. The lifts were very slow so don't leave it until the last minute to use them.

An excellent and modern hotel. Rooms very clean and nice. Kettle, coffee and tea in the room. There is a fridge in the room. Breakfast is very tasty, there are also Korean dishes. There is a shopping mall and numerous restaurants nearby. The hotel has a swimming pool and gym.

Very nice hotel. Really nice sized room & bathroom. Clean & comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet. Conveniently located near multiple convenience stores & restaurants. Good wifi. Pretty decor in lobby. Only negative is slow elevator service when busy.

This was one of our more spacious hotels on our Korean trip. It was spotlessly clean, very modern and we had a room with a single and double bed. There were lots of usb and charging spots including a sophisticated laptop charging area. There was a fancy electronic toilet and good shower pressure with a modern hand held and rain shower. Push the right hand temperature knob to get water flow. A bonus was the Korean style dressing gowns while we were out. Air conditioning operates to 6 pm and then shuts down except for heating because it isn't considered necessary but the windows open to give you a cool breeze if you want. We definitely didn't get hot in the last week of March and got lovely views of the sunrise. Like most Korean hotels there doesn't appear to be stairs (they seem to have a rappelling from the room arrangement!) so you rely on elevators which at peak times are full so allow extra time then. Breakfast buffet on the 2nd floor was good with hot and cold options, eg. buffalo wings, chips, salads, fruit, fried eggs, juice, etc. It is well located. The walking distance to the Hanok Village is about 10 minutes and the modern shopping district is about 6 minutes. There is a 24 hr convenience store right outside. Probably our best hotel on our Korean stay.

Room is tiny. Air-conditioning is only a heater meaning you need to open a window which lets in road noise. Little things like no stirrer or milk powder for the coffee let the hotel down. Couldn't get thesafe to work either. Don't get me started on the lack of lighting.
