we travel 36 often through Kansas, The Hiawatha Best Western is a great location, cause McDonalds is next to it, you can walk and quickly get food..then go back to your room and relax after long day of driving. we enjoyed the hot tub and pool indoors, and also watch very good TV shows. A great way to unwind and relax and bed was perfect for sleeping. THe breakfast was tasty and complete and is always very good at best western plus!

I'm impressed with the facility and staff. They far exceed the standard of service and quality. Tracey and the staff are a great group of people. Rooms are clean and the food is a great selection! They take pride in their work and genuinely care about you and your stay. Route your trip down HWY 36 and stay in the wonderful town of Hiawatha,KS.

Room and common areas are clean and maintained. Breakfast is below average. There is a McDonald's very close. It seems that at the very least they could offer a good cup of coffee, instead they offer a liquid concentrate.

Everything was very clean and presented well. The pillows are too large and overstuffed. Thankfully I always bring my own pillow. As with many places, understaffing seemed to be an issue. Breakfast items kept running out because the guy was managing both the desk and the breakfast, so I felt bad for him. Also there was no hair dryer in my room and he had to go upstairs to get me one. Hotel was reasonably priced for a holiday weekend. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, large rooms, very good extras, very good breakfast. We will always stay at this location whenever we go back overnight. Large comfortable beds and pillows. Pool very nice, clean, whirl pool just right tempiture. So many times they are much to hot to use. Pool also warm.

There are cheaper places to stay but I don't trust too many chains anymore. I knew I could count on Best Western to deliver a clean, safe experience. Even with smaller staff, someone was always available.

We stayed one night and were very satisfied. Nothing fancy, but clean and staff was helpful and friendly. The two staff we met were helpful and accommodating. They were short handed and worked hard to keep everything going.

This hotel looks nice. It's decorated well. However, my room was dirty. Yellow stains on the sheets in one bed, black dirt spots on the other. A huge red stain on the floor. The bathroom sink had hair in it. The room smelled musty. The pool are smelled like straight up mold. I will say the staff was extremely friendly and was the only reason the stay was even slightly worth it.

Nice clean hotel. There were 2 adults and 2 teens, beds were comfy. Bathrooms as good size and very clean, breakfast choices were from scrambled eggs, cheese omlets, sausage , waffles, cereal etc. . Would definitely stay again

We stayed at this hotel for a quick overnight stay before a softball tournament. We arrived late around midnight the check in process was very quick. However when we got settled in and laid down to sleep our neighbors next door were extremely loud until 2am. The walls of this hotel don't seem to be insulated very well which made for poor quality of sleep. Also was disappointed that there wasn't any breakfast option.

I'm very sorry your neighbors were very loud and you didn't get a good quality night of sleep, I deeply apologize for that however I did make breakfast for any one that came to get breakfast i wish at check in he would of told you that breakfast would start at 7 again I deeply apologize for that.

Last night my love affair with Best Western Plus ended with a hotel room that ranked truck stop motel with a bathroom that stunk of dirty mop water, dirty wash rags and lumpy small pillows (like what happens when you try to dry them in the dryer). The guy at the desk this morning was unavailable forever and then was barely civil. We were looking for guidance on our “grab and go” breakfast included get your own cereal or packaged oatmeal. The advertised “grab and go water” we requested was given to us without a single word. The very nicely done up rooms were sadly reflected in comfort and unfriendliness.

We used Hotels.com but that was a mistake as they were $30 higher than booking directly with the hotel. There is a Casey's just up the street & this hotel is just off the main highway. Nice stay, quiet & great service. Would stay here again. Breakfast was great. Easy parking.

The staff went beyond the call of duty to make sure ones stay is great. I was well taken care of, breakfast hot and nice daily, housekeepers always do an excellent job. When I didn't have a ride workers would use their personal cars to get me to work on time. Tracy the manager is the best, Rosie very caring and Lance. Ellie, Carmen, and Veronica kept me clean always! Love this place and I highly recommend them.

This hotel is over priced for what you get. Maintenance and cleanliness is non existent! Ice and snow was never cleared from a mild storm two days prior. Parking lot was a disaster and very dangerous to walk through due to ice accumulations that should have been addressed days ago. Lobby was shabby and windows appeared to have never been cleaned. A good scrubbing of the public areas would help the guest feel more comfortable in staying here. It's the only place in town and does not come close to meeting Best western standards.

Great location a long highway 36 in Kansas. Needed to stay the night when moving my mom from a nearby town. Front desk gentleman helped retrieve my moms cat from under bed when she escaped from kennel.

Fairly new hotel. Should be inspected for things that are worn out such as mattress and pull out sofa mattress. Hotel staff should make more effort to welcome guests. Breakfast is very average. Should be better for a Best Western Plus. Location is very good. Easy to access. 3 to 4 stars is enough for this location. Nothing really stands out.

This hotel was out of our way, but worth the drive. A hot tub is very important to us, as we have arthritis that flares up when we travel. This one was very small, but nice and hot with good jets. The hot breakfast was great with lots of hot choices... burritos, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy and waffles. Standard cold choices of cereal, pastries, fruit plus hard boiled eggs. They even had a yogurt dispenser with lots of mix in choices. My only criticism is that our room was really dark. It was a king suite, so was large with lots of room and decorated nicely, but the lighting made the room feel very gloomy. The dark paint on the walls exacerbated the lighting problem.

I stay in hotel rooms about 150 nights a year, the staff at the Hiawatha Best Western is the most enjoyable and helpful that come across in my travels. I always know I will feel welcome when my company sends me back to Hiawatha.

The hotel was clean, room was decent with everything we needed, staff helpful, hotel had good proximity to places we wanted to visit. The room had great access to fitness area, complementary breakfast, parking.

This motel is like a hidden gem. My husband and I were traveling out west and in searching for a motel this Best Western popped up. It was a little out of our way, but was certainly worth the few extra miles. My main concern when finding a motel is cleanliness, and this one certainly met our expectations. The room was very clean snd the bed was comfortable. The temperature was digitally controlled. The breakfast was varied with different types of eggs, waffles, gravy and biscuits, danish, yogurt, and burritos (my favorite). Tracy, the General Manager, offered us hot coffee and freshly made cookies after a long day of driving. He was most accommodating in every way. If we're back to this area, this Best Western will be on our itinerary.

Arrived hot and tired. Big thx to Bill & Tracy who were so helpful ~ quick & efficient check-in is much appreciated after a long day on the road. Automatic front doors made it much easier to bring luggage cart in & out. My room, an king single, was already nicely cooled off, YAY !!! Spotless & spacious w/fridge/micro & flat screen TV w/DirecTV programming. Bathroom was sparkling clean with granite counters. Slept well on super comfortable bed with nice linens and lots of fat, fluffy pillows. Free wifi with ample signal to check weather & routing for the rest of our trip. In-room coffee. Quick elevator. Didn't partake of continental other than to grab an apple but it appeared well tended. Next morning sweet & smiling Savanna quickly printed off my receipt. Would definitely stay here again.

We travel to Hiawatha every year or so to visit family. We always stay at this hotel. We were upgraded to a corner king suite on the 3rd floor. Very quiet, comfortable and clean. Refrigerator and microwave worked perfectly. We stayed 3 nights. We thought the breakfast and breakfast area were both excellent. Not many restaurants in the area, so we drove 16 miles north to Falls City for late lunches.

Nice room but no maid service at all today!!!! Have to let the water run for quite awhile to any hot water!!!! Noisy!! Over priced for what we've gotten:( Not many choices of places to stay here in Hiawatha anymore. Really sad. This is a decent hotel just not great service. To bad:(

I'm truly sorry you didn't get service during your stay the cleaning ladies must of just over looked your room by mistake please forgive them.

Getting to the hotel isn't easy. The road to the hotel is closed with no detour signs directing people to the hotel. On arrival their internet was down due to heavy rain therefore, their system was also down causing a lot of confusion. The staff did their best to accommodate their guests. Everything was spotless and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. Not only was it ready on time but also hot. They had everything you could possibly want. The internet never was available to the guests but we did notice the staff had internet.

Stayed at Hiawatha Kansas Best Western while visiting relatives in the area. The facility and room were cleanand quiet, and personnel efficient and helpful. We left without partaking of the breakfast area, but it did look good!

The lobby is contemporary. The beds are awful, very hard and uncomfortable. The hot breakfast is horrible. The burritos and biscuits are consistently hard as a brick and not cooked. The desk staff are kind in passing. The housekeeping staff was great. ALERT-There seems to be a bias if you book through a 3rd party because they don't get full price for their room. The general manager would not authorize a refund after I had to leave early on an extended stay. You can expect VERY unprofessional behavior from the General Manager. The pool is average and heated. The hot tub is very small.

We stayed for 1 night at this hotel. It is located right off the main highway. Plenty of parking available. Check in was pretty simple. I was a bit frustrated however with one situation. We were traveling with a dog so we needed a pet friendly room, as noted and discussed when we made the reservation in advance. They stated our room was on the 3rd floor at check in. I asked if we could please be moved to a lower room and he refused. Said everything else was taken. There were only MAYBE 5-7 other cars in the parking lot when we arrived later in the night, and I could see his list of pet rooms - which were located on all floors. No way the only people staying that night all had pets. It was ridiculous. When we woke in the morning - less cars then the night before. Aside from that issue, the hotel was clean, rooms were clean, and beds were comfortable. There is an open field to the east, so plenty of room to take the dog out. Breakfast was decent and provided the basics you need to get moving in the morning.

First impressions count and this place really impresses! It smells clean and fresh and is a beautiful entry area. Our desk attendant, Tracy, was friendly and professional. I was really surprised at the quality of the towels! Absolutely plush and soft! The room was comfortable and nice. Quiet. A great stay!

Traveling with 5 children and 4 adults takes lots of planning and organizing. We enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub. The breakfast was very good with plenty of food. The hot breakfast made the cost of the motel easier to pay.

While the hotel was relatively new and overall clean there were a few hangups. First of all, when I got to my room it felt damp, and even after messing with the thermostat it remained that way my entire stay. It was damp enough that the carpet, sheets and everything else felt damp and humid. Not a comfortable feeling at all. Also, the hotel gym doesn't open until 7 AM for some reason? Not ideal for those traveling for work who have to be on the road before the gym even opens.

This hotel is located in a small town in Kansas. There is a McDonald's and Walmart, but not much more in Hiawatha. This was just a place to spend the night. The hotel is fairly big for such a small town. Across the highway was another abandoned hotel. The McDonalds was right behind the hotel. When we were there, the hallway on our floor was very warm and a fan was running in the hallway. Our room thermostat was set very cool. We turned it off immediately, but the room stayed too cool and unpleasantly damp all night long. There must have been a problem with the hallway air conditioning. The room was spacious and the decor was pleasant. There were all the usual amenities including refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. The mattress in our room wasn't that comfortable, and the sheets didn't fit that well so they wrinkled. Breakfast was the usual BW items. I thought it was quite expensive for such a rural location.

Carpet in our room had grass and mud clods. Sheets were pilled and scratchy. Bathtub rim had hair and circles from previous shampoo bottles. Got down to breakfast at 7:30. Bacon gone. Something that I thought was mush cut in slices was inedible. Find another hotel.

After viewing some of this small town we were impressed by the Best Western Plus in Hiawatha. Some nearby buildings need to be torn down--scary, but this hotel is a breath of fresh air. From the moment you enter the lobby, to viewing your room and getting a super night's sleep. We were impressed. Because of a marathon in town, we were not able to get our choice of room but the beds were great and the breakfast greater! The front desk people were very kind and allowed a one hour late leave. If ever in the area, we would select this hotel.

I arrived late and had no problem getting my choice of a room with no reservation ahead of time. Just walked in and was immediately greeted and checked in. The place was very clean and comfortable and very quiet. I had no problems with anything during my stay and would recommend this to anyone.

This is a new property, convenient to US 36, and the lobby really looks good. We were welcomed by a friendly young lady who was quite helpful. The room was nice but the refrigerator wasn't working which was quickly fixed. The desk pad was sticky and needed to be washed. The doors to the stairway were very hard to open. There was a nice pet walking area complete with pick up supplies. There was no problem with smoke at this no smoking facility (like some other properties.)

When we checked in the girl at the front desk talked told us where the pool and hot tub area was and so we went and purchased swim suits for me and my daughter only to find out the hot tub had been broke down with no notification. Also when we I went to shower I found empty shampoo bottles in the shower so I am almost certain that it had not been cleaned.

Brand new hotel!!! Our room was excellent, the breakfast also. Has a pool, jacuzzi and fitness center also. Very clean throughout the hotel!! Would definitely stay here again. Excellent restaurant near by called Country Cabin!!

being the truly only hotel in this town, this is a very well run, clean, comfortable property with excellent service & the breakfast is as good as it gets. it is located right on the south side of town with access to the main highways down the street.

The hotel was perfect. The staff was very good. The room was spacious and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. This hotel is only 3 years old and very nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Very convenient if visiting kids attending highland community college.

I stay in Hiawatha when visiting family. This hotel is convenient, comfortable, and clean. Staff friendly and courteous. Parking can be limited when the hotel is full. There is a lower lot without stairs, which requires walking to one end or the other and back up to the door. Good selection of breakfast items, and hot items are a good temperature.

Great location and a very welcomed hotel option for this area. Clean Hotel with up to date amenities. Overall a good experience for my family the large suite was an ideal fit for my large family. We visit family in the area often and this will be our new home when we are in the area.

I made a mistake reserving rooms for a stay for work. The website populated the date for the following month and I didn't catch it until the confirmation email. I called the hotel several times to speak to the manager which the staff just kept saying he wouldn't be in until the following day. This happened almost a dozen times! Then the manager said he would have to talk to the owner and get back to me, but then never did. I stayed the original night i intended on, and now had to pay for another night, a month after I had been there. Make the drive somewhere else. I will be taking all of my business travels elsewhere besides best western from now on. The owner is clearly a sleaze

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. When a reservation is made online we are not able to make any changes as it has to be done by the guest through the online booking site they used.

This was a great motel in which to stay. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. There was a concrete walking trail very close to the motel which was a couple of miles in length. The city of Hiawatha has several choices for places to eat. We enjoyed are stay and will use the same motel in the future.

When it comes to hotels, I tend to rate them based on their shower pressure. I'm a daughter of a plumber, so I was kind of spoiled with a good shower head and good shower pressure my whole life. I have visited 19 states so far and used many hotels across the country. This place had the BEST shower pressure out of any hotel I've been in so far! Not only that, but it was overall squeaky clean, seemed new, and I felt safe. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because the first front desk clerk wasn't very friendly and even refused to give me the wi-fi password when I asked for it. I ended up waiting until night to call the front desk and ask someone else for the password. They were more friendly and gave me the password with no problem.

We have stayed multiple times at this hotel, one to 3 times per year. We were there Sat. Sept 23rd for one-night stay. It was honestly not a good experience. The front desk clerk was a woman of few words, wasn't very welcoming. She did get us checked in without incident. There were 2 beds in our room and upon pullong back the covers on one bed, we found hairs, what looked like a small piece of a leaf, along with several small flecks of black substance that was probably dirt, but big enough to easily pick up with our fingers. I placed all of this on a white piece of paper and took it to the front desk and showed the staff and asked for clean sheets for the bed. She simply handed me linens and didn't apologize in any way! At breakfast time, there was an issue with the staff keeping the food well supplied. Waited 15 min or so to get eggs and sausage out to the guests after running out. The waffle mix was in the wrong containers...blueberry mix was in the container that was marked for original. Orange juice ran out and didnt get refilled in a timely manner. Staff did not wipe any of the tables between guest use. We found staff outside taking smoke break together and at times could not find desk clerk to help us. We had great difficulty reaching desk clerk when we tried tocall before our arrival. The automated phone system kept cycling back to original message after multiple rings were unanswered bydesk clerk. It was just sad to see such a difference in quality of our stay compared to our previous stays. This is a beautiful hotel, but there clearly are some issues that need prompt attention. Staff training is needed. Customer service should be number one priority. We are sure hoping to find things much improved if we give this place another chance to earn our business.

Very nice and clean room and good staff. Good full Breakfast. I would stay at this hotel again Having to fill Characters for the review. Right off the highway with good parking. Had a nice pool and hot tub but did not use them.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice, well kept motel in this small town. I use a black light when I travel to check for cleanliness and this motel passed with flying colors. The lobby is attractive and the breakfast is laid out efficiently and maintained throughout the open hours.

I spent one night here in room 302. This is a 3 story property located near a freeway exit on highway 36. It is likely the best hotel in town and is adjacent to a McDonald's and close to gas stations. The property is relatively new and in great shape. No real complaints or issues. Our room had 2 queen beds and being on the 3rd floor was quiet. There is just one elevator which can be slow if there are multiple users. The room we had had all the standard amenities including a microwave and fridge, sitting chair, desk and companion chair, night stands and lamps. There were enough wall plugs for charging but just one between the two beds. The clock worked and the flat screen TV was in the bedroom with another one in the bathroom. The bathroom had a shower/tub. Breakfast was average but the burritos were good. I could not locate a PC but the hotel has free wifi and it operated well during our stay. Improvements needed: the bath mat was hidden daily behind the shower curtain so if you got into the shower you would get the bath mat all wet. The bathroom has the fan and light on the same switch. The fan is annoying and it should be on a separate switch.

Super overpriced for the Total Eclipse, which they would only refer to as a "situation", poor attention to cleanliness, moldy stairways, intolerable air quality in the pool area, disrespectful staff who smoked cigarettes right outside the entry

We stayed at this hotel last summer with family who had come from various states. The hotel itself was clean. The pool was a nice addition for the kids. We found the rooms to be clean and fairly well updated. Housekeeping didn't come while we were there to at least empty the trash. The staff was ok, nothing really stood out in this hotel. This is the reason I am rating it average.

This is a very good hotel priced right, If you want quick, clean, easy and affordable...check this location out...you won't be disappointed. The staff is helpful. The rooms are clean and quiet. The breakfast is good. Plenty of parking...with easy access off US-36.

As this hotel is in the middle of "nowhere" it's really nice. Seems to be new or recently remodeled. Bed was comfy and the rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and coffee. Bathroom was a little tight and the person next door to me fell asleep with their TV BLASTING on my last night there. Otherwise I was pleased and comfortable with my whole experience.

This is a nice new hotel. The room was good. It was a little more money than I hoped, but when you travel the back roads, you limit your own choices. The breakfast bar was ok. Nothing terribly noteworthy, good OR bad. I'm gonna get a gift card for staying here!

This is a relatively new hotel. Always find it to be very clean. Desk personnel are friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable. Amenities readily available. Decent breakfast.I would prefer to stay here if I were visiting St Jo unless I needed to be there very early in the morning. Overall, it is convenient.

Overall it is a clean and friendly place. We have stayed there before and have gone back. They have good breakfast. This was the first time we had issues with the TV remote, didn't seem to want to work when changing volume and channels as well as not let you shut it off. The hot tube wasn't even warm. The bed this time was a little worn and should be replaced. But as an overall the is a very nice Best Western and we will probably stay there again.

We had accuracy error in our reservation causing our reservation to accidentally be cancelled. The Hiawatha Hotel has been very well-maintained for only being 3 1/2 years old from being built at the end of 2013. We were upgraded to a double queen suite so that all three of us had a separate bed. I slept very well. The beds were very comfortable. The pulsing shower was nice. I would do this hotel again with this bed configuration. The room overall was very nice and clean and felt new. Nothing in the room seems worn out. They have wall-mounted thermostat controls away from the window and on the same wall as the bathroom. It makes the room temperature seem more accurate. The front desk wood needs a little refinishing on the employee side left. Allana was very helpful at check out again. The parking lot was a little tight with the trailer. Next time I will park on the street, no matter what, and the save the headache of having to be so careful and having to maneuver the dark. Nice automatic sliding doors. This is a Best Western Plus but has a more compact feel which means it's hard to get lost inside. The lobby is nice and well decorated in fall colors. We really liked the carpets in the hallways and how the hallways were air conditioned. Breakfast just did not pop for me.  It did not pop for a Best Western Plus. The sweets and cinnamon rolls were really good. Also the foil-wrapped breakfast burrito was good and much better than McDonald's. Blueberries and granola were a nice touch to add in the cereal. The cheese omelet had a creamy nacho cheese filling inside. For a best Western Plus they need to improve the breakfast a little. Consider upgrading to the breakfast like Sidney, Lincoln, or Cheyenne and ask what they have done and who they have ordered for him to make an improvement here. Has the feel of a Best Western but needs just a little bit more extras to compare with other Best Western Pluses in the lobby and breakfast especially. Breakfast upgrade needed with better ingredients or equipment, more prep time, or something else to make it taste better overall. I think the breakfast would increase the feel of the value overall for price paid. Weighed in the balance with how excellent the room was and our stay still receives a very good rating overall.

Relatively new property - great accommodations. Comfortably appointed rooms that are quiet. No discernible noise from nearby US-75 highway. Good breakfast, better than expected. Multiple hot choices, plus cereal and sweet breads. Friendly staff.

For "rural" Kansas it's pricey, but it is worth the bucks. Not a single complaint! Fairly new property, impressive lobby, heated pool, new furniture and linens, very nice hot breakfast fare. Pricey for just a bed (is BW Plus; $100+), but if you can pause to enjoy the really nice amenities would definitely recommend it! Enroll in the BW frequent stay program as there are specials for members. Will be on our "good place to stay" list, which can be hard to achieve.

this seems like brand new hotel! Great pool and hot tub that is treated with salt water. We really liked it! Definitely the "go to" place in this area of Kansas & Nebraska. Newer property, very nicely decorated. Clean comfortable rooms. Right next door to McDonald's. Close to the highway, but you rarely hear any vehicles.

I'm in NE Kansas about 3-4 weeks a year for work and have traditionally stayed in Topeka but it's at the southern edge of my project area. Was very glad to find Best Western Hiawatha. It's the same modern hotel you find in metro areas but right where I need it to be. Very nice experience. Front desk help was very pleasant, even after I locked myself out of the room 2 times. Breakfast was similar to what this class of hotel offers; there are plenty of hot or cold options. Not Cracker Barrel but certainly better than fast food options and it's included in the price of admission. Housekeeping staff was helpful and worked around my odd schedule. Hiawatha is fantastic. Small town America....but with a McDonalds and Super Walmart. Beautiful parks and a courthouse square that belongs in a movie. There was even a small movie theater that reminded me of the one I grew up with in my small town. So glad to have found this motel. Two thumbs-up.....way up.

The hotel pool smells like a pond and is completely absent of any chlorine. As a result of this negligence, my daughter caught a virus which brought about a high fever and diarrhea. The room had food down in the vent, so an odor resulted when tried to use the heater. There were huge scratched on the faces of furniture (a brown permanent marker would have at least been an effort). The "blanket" at the end of our bed had a huge rip in it. Do not let you child swim in this pool.

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay with us and wish your daughter a speedy recovery. I would like to explain that we do not offer the chlorine pool you would find at most other locations. At our hotel, we have chosen to use a saltwater pool and therefore do not use the harsh chemicals that are needed to upkeep a chlorine pool which is why it does not have the standard "pool" smell you are used to. Just as with a chlorine pool, if too much water is ingested while swimming, a person can contract flu-like symptoms such as the fever and diarrhea you mentioned your daughter suffering from. If you have any suggestions on the different types of pastries you'd like to see on our breakfast bar, please let us know and we will take them into consideration. We also noticed you rated our fitness center at 1 out of 10 and we would be happy to hear why you felt it deserved this rating and what we can do to better the facility. With the spring weather, the HVACs in our guest rooms are typically running cool air through the A/C coils, thus leaving the heating coils untouched for long periods of time which can cause the coils to give off a faint odor when they are first heated again. I can attest to the fact that our housekeepers do a marvelous job keeping the rooms clean for our guests and cleaning the filters on the HVAC units are part of their daily tasks. We do apologize as we did in fact find a small tear in the decorative spread that was presented at the end of your bed. This spread has since been re-purposed and will not be placed in another guest room. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. Nice hotel and one of the few good hotels in the area. A bit on the pricey side but you will get a good night sleep. Was not impressed with the breakfast, it is not much different than much cheaper hotels.

This was the second time that I was in this general region of Kansas (where nothing really is). The first time I was in Sabetha where even less happened. However, if you are ever in Hiawatha, stay here at the Best Western. It was a surprisingly nice hotel that had great rooms, a pretty solid workout area and the people there seemed nice and helpful. I don't know if there were updates done recently or if it is just a newer hotel, but I enjoyed my time here at the hotel (there isn't anything else to do in Hiawatha, really).

One of the best hotel experience I have had in along time. Mary the breakfast lady was very helpful and made sure me and my 25 kids (j/k but there was a lot of us) always had food and kept picking up and checking to make sure we were all okay. The front desk manager here is rude and hateful. She Overcharged me above me signed check-in rate and all but threw me out when I asked for a late check-out!!! She made me feel like I was an inconvenience and proceed to argue with me infant of her staff as well as other guess. Never going back!!!

We reserved rooms for wedding in September of 2015 ( wasn't able to set the review date back that far.) We had a great time and heard no complaints from our guests. The suite room was very spacious and accommodating as well.

We were very happy with everything and would stay here again in the future. The rooms were nice. We had everything we needed. The breakfast served was wonderful. The staff were all friendly and helpful as well.

This is a very nice hotel in a small Kansas town. Well maintained and clean property. Comfortable bed. There was a four hour power outage while we were there, but the outage was regional, no fault of the hotel!

I appreciated having a hit tub and indoor pool. The breakfast was mediocre (we are used to quality oatmeal and the fresh fruit salad at Hampton Inn) but the rooms were fine. Staff treatment: I noticed in the reception a big sign behind the counter for staff not to sit on the filing cabinet. It was the height of a chair. I looked around and there was no chair at all for the staff. I asked about it and was told that staff are expected to stand all through their shift, even when no customer is in the reception area and even all night! This is to appear attentive. Can you imagine? How needlessly exhausting for them!! Shame on the management! They should stand, but only to wait on a customer.

This was a nice motel in a small town. The town did not have many food choices, so the breakfast was especially helpful. It was also a quiet place to stay. We noticed several people at breakfast who stayed there while working in the area. Although we did not get to know the staff in our very brief stay, they seemed to have a friendly relationship with the breakfast staff. Breakfast was good.

Would not want to stay here unless I had no other option! I would need to be re-assured proper staff training would take place. Staff was rude and inconsiderate to those trying to check in, and was on her cell phone the entire time. Felt like I was a burden for trying to check into my own hotel room. At night the hotel is pretty quiet no a lot going on. Thankfully there is a gas station right next door for late night emergency items, or some coffee. The small amount to shampoo/conditioner is barely enough for one person to use once, so I would recommend bringing your own.

Myself and 4 friends went on a 4 day trip to Kansas to the Rt 36 Treasure Hunt! This is where we stayed on the way home. Very nice and the room accommodated all 5 of us which was great!!! Breakfast was AWESOME and we had a great stay. The hotel is new and very clean! Thanks! We will be back next year!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Hiawatha, Kansas. The property is new, well decorated in bright happy colors. Our room was well appointed with enough plug ins for our electronics by the bed where we use them.

This hotel exceeds the quality and service of most Best Western Plus hotels. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast has a good variety and the dining room has plenty of space. Great hotel for the price.

This hotel was very clean, comfortable and the staff was very courteous. I usually stay at another brand of hotels but this hotel is equally as good as the other brand. I traveled for business and the internet and quiet atmosphere helped me get a lot accomplished. It is definitely a good place to stay for the price! Quiet, friendly and services should be rated high.

Enough is enough! I have been coming to this location with a work crew for the last 3 years " some of them longer than me" This year has been full of disappointments " generally on the 2nd shift from the same clerk" For starters ,I have a service dog. After one clerk seeing what room I was in she threw a big ordeal and said that I can't be in that room with a animal. I politely informed her of the laws and explained it doesn't matter what room I'm in that I can't be refused a room and even offered to print the laws so she could brush up on them . She just walked away with an attitude. There was a time when I asked for 4 quarters to put in the dryer before it stopped " not realizing this dryer didn't work like that" and I would bring her a dollar right back and she looked at me like I was crazy and said not until you give me a dollar. The next 2-3 encounters were fairly pleasant and I figured she was just having a bad day before. Then today takes the cake! A few of the crew and myself decided to grill out and while shopping one person picked up plates, napkins, and utensils " which every hotel we stay at politely provides for us on a regular basis . Then we remembered she might be working and proceeded to buy the items. Smartest decision we made. We needed to heat something up and I asked for a couple of bowls from the breakfast room and I was told that she could not because it is only for the breakfast hours. I asked about spoons and forks if I were to get take out and they were forgotten . She again said no ! I stay in over 300 hotel nights a year and I'm a diamond member for this brand! I get cereal and milk late night in most properties just by asking.. When my project manager heard of this he decided to inquire and was told " we do not have to stay here" Now let's do the math- 12-16 rooms weekly X 106.00 a night per room for 5 months. Not to mention the motorcycle crew you run off from parking under the canopy during rainy days. If this is what we drive 30 mins for I'll take my Buisness elsewhere.

Couldn't have been any better. The breakfast was great, my room was clean and the temperature in my room was already cool on a hot summer day of 95 degrees. I really like having a thermostat on the wall that I can adjust the temperature to.

This is a nice hotel, the beds were very comfortable. The rooms very clean. The breakfast was good; biscuits & gravy, eggs, waffles, the usual stuff. Rooms had mini fridges, microwaves, and coffee makers. The pool is small, but it's nice & is saltwater.

We were very impressed with our stay at this Best Western. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast was great and the Hotel is very clean and well kept. We were in town visiting family and we will definitely stay at this location again.

We were very pleased to see that BW had built a hotel in Hiawatha since our last visit and were even more pleased when we saw how clean and welcoming it was. Very nice staff, helpful and accommodating , good breakfast choices and comfy bed....what more could you ask for!!!

I was surprised to find such a nice motel in a smaller town and not on an interstate. The check in clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. Nice, clean rooms with attractive decorations. Standard motel breakfast. Would stay here again if ever in the area.

Closest hotel to Pawnee City if coming from the Missouri side (St. Joseph). Rooms are clean and kept up to date. Beds a little firmer than I like. Friendly staff. Hotel appears to be newer. Very easy access to Highway 36.

This is a relatively new hotel and it's a little expensive to stay here, but if you've got the money and you like new, and you trust Best Western, you won't be dissapointed. Microwave, fridge, hair dryer, clothes iron, 1 cup coffee-maker. High speed WiFi although it drops out periodically, at least last evening (this morning, not so much). I found the bed to be quite comfortable, not too soft and not too firm. The shower puts out plenty of water. The breakfast menu is very satisfactory in my opinion: Sausage, bacon & scrambled eggs, apples, oranges & bananas, cold & hot cereal, biscuits & gravy, juice & coffee, and I don't know what else. It's relatively quiet here at night. Traffic on nearby highways 36 & 73 both pass by without stopping; one highway over the other, meaning you don't have the noise of vehicle's stopping and starting during the night. Also both highways are pretty quiet at night anyway. Now for the petty complaints. Water pools in the shower soap dish, rather than drains out. There's some minor wear on the framework of the cabinet the tv sets on. The digital readout on the thermostat is hard to make out. Lastly, in the parking lot, the tall upright light pole just to the southeast of the building rocks back and forth a little in the wind. Needs to be fastened down securely. (if it should ever fall over and hit a car, that would be a problem!)

We had a Great nights sleep in comfortable beds. Large double bed room with a lounging chair and ottoman. Breakfast was very good! Clean room with a nice bathroom.Very nice salt water pool & hot tub to relax in. Good parking and well light. Friendly staff!

We paid extra for a king suite room, so not sure on the regular room size. Our room was a great size, clean and new. The bed was comfortable. The staff here were fantastic! The breakfast food was on the low end of quality, and they don't provide the nice little extras that other hotels in this class offer. Like a newspaper, snack at check-in, or a selection of toiletries in the room. This is a great hotel and price for the small town it is in though, and I would stay here again!

My room was clean and the staff was courteous. I am 74 years old. I opposed the political and religious positions of AARP, so I belong to another organization for seniors, AMAC. Best Western refused to give me senior rates because I am not a member of AARP. I believe that this is discrimination, pure and simple.

Nice Hotel. Breakfast was not all that good. Good hotel for a small town and well located right off of hwy 36. Not really much more to say, but it says I have to have 200 characters. Staff were nice and the rooms were clean, but a little cramped.

Good clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. The cleaning room people cleaned the room very well. This above all is important to me. I also enjoyed a good breakfast. This stay exceeded the expectations of the traits and characteristics I have come to expect in a stay. Great staff!

This is a new hotel, so the appearance inside & out is still very nice. The beds are a bit hard for my liking, but also not a deal breaker. Breakfast is not absolutely the best I've had at a hotel, but again not a deal breaker & we still enjoy eating breakfast there in the morning.

Hi Folks, My wife and I where on our way to Omaha and stopped here for the night. This is a lovely place with clean comfortable rooms and a very considerate and understanding staff. By understanding, I mean that I had made a bunch of reservations all at once some time back and screwed this one up. Traveling with the pipeline for maintenance/repair digs, I can go through 20-30 hotels a year easily. This is the very first hotel I felt was worth it's rate. Though the area is remote, as most are in my business, this hotel is very nice. Room was very clean, everything looked fairly new and in great condition. Beds and pillows were comfortable, towels in good condition, shower pressure could stand to be stronger, internet worked well, Flat screen TV with many channel options, coin guest laundry that the dryer worked the first time to dry everything, quiet, very friendly front desk, elevator if needed, felt safe. A very pleasant, stress free stay at a great price.

I stay here occasionally when visiting family. This hotel is so far above the competition it's no contest. Relatively new property and well-maintained so far. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Good beds with more pillows than I can use. Full breakfast in attractive surroundings. Close to highway, but no noticeable traffic noise. Only complaints are that the night light was burned out and the bathroom door needed a good wipedown. Had to wait a few minutes for someone to come to front desk both at checkin and checkout. Friendly staff, though.

Extremely pleased and impressed with facility and treatment. Was initially put out by the national switchboard I reached when calling for a reservation, but quickly changed my mind as the attendant was professional, courteous, and efficient in processing my request.

Outside of a Wifi problem, we had an excellent stay. Breakfast was great with a wonderful variety. Pool and Hottub were nice and clean. Most staff were very nice and polite. Rooms were clean and fresh...

The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was very nice. Great bedding, comfortable overall, including the bathroom. There was a refrigerator and a microwave in the room. It was fairly quiet -a good night's sleep.

This Best Western is a relatively new/recently refurbished facility and it is very nice. The room was spotless and the lobby and breakfast area appeared to be also. The staff was very efficient and helpful. This was our first stay in this town and we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel there.

The hotel is very new and this is appealing for the area. There are few "new" places around Hiawatha. On checkin, our first "suite" looked out onto a wall, which was surprising for Kansas. I could understand it in New York, but not Kansas. We had asked for a top floor room but we were told we couldn't have one. After asking again, we miraculously got a top floor room with a decent view. The room was well appointed and the beds were decent. The one part of the stay that was bad was breakfast. The food was very lackluster, and the service for the breakfast was non-existent. There were few to no gluten free options, and when we asked the servers to make eggs gluten free, they said they could not provide any other eggs than what was already there. Because of the possibility of contamination, we skipped breakfast and went elsewhere. Additionally, someone in our party had left a DND sign on their door, but the service staff knocked on the door early anyway. Also, there was a lot of racket in the morning in the hallway and we're not sure whether this was the staff or noisy guests. I would probably return to this hotel and give it another chance, but I can't say that it's something I would look forward to. As I mentioned, it's the only new hotel around...

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding and we got there under the understanding that we would get the wedding rate, we didn't. We checked in and asked if we could pay cash and leave our card on file. We could but we would be changed 150 deposit plus the price of the room or our card would be charged then credited when we pay cash at checkout. We got stuck in the elevator, the keys never worked. The staff was less then helpful and the printer was broke so we couldn't see what we were charged. I got home and of course the charges were wrong.

It brings us no joy to leave our first 1 star review on TripAdvisor. Here's why... We stayed at Best Western Plus Hiawatha Hotel for two nights in October 2015. We booked and pre-paid through Expedia. Upon check-in we provided our credit card for incidentals, which is quite standard. On check-out though, Best Western Hiawatha charged our credit card for the entire stay without our knowledge. So we were charged twice for the stay - first by Expedia, and again by the hotel. We only became aware of the unauthorised charge some weeks later when checking our credit card statement. We contacted Expedia, who contacted the hotel on our behalf to request our refund. We were told (by Expedia) that Best Western Hiawatha acknowledged their mistake and would process the refund in the next few days when their manager returned. Weeks later we still hadn't received the refund, so contacted the hotel directly by email. We got a confusing response which implied that our refund had been processed on 19th November. When we asked for clarification of their confusing email we got no reply. At this point we decided to pursue the matter through Best Western Customer Service. Over the next weeks, we dealt with multiple customer service representatives who were, quite frankly, useless. We thought that Best Western, being a huge global chain, would have a top-notch customer service team, and that someone back at HQ would pick up our case and follow it through to a speedy resolution. Nope! Instead, we got a different person every time we contacted them, and all they did was forward our emails to Best Western Hiawatha. They ignored our questions, and just kept telling us to follow up with our own bank, and to provide Best Western with our credit card statements. It was incredibly time-consuming for us to collate our statements and blank out all our private info, and yet in return Best Western Hiawatha could not even provide us with a simple transaction receipt to verify they'd actually processed the refund. The only thing they ever sent us was a Best Western-produced invoice that proved absolutely nothing. By this time it's January 2016 (Happy New Year!) and still no refund. The only explanation the hotel offered was that international transactions take time to go through. Not true! We know from experience that you can send funds to anyone in the world within days. Our bank confirmed that international transactions don't take that long, and they opened an offical dispute against Best Western Hiawatha's unauthorised charge for us. We finally, finally, got our refund on 18th January 2016 - keep in mind that our stay was on 31st October 2015, and that Best Western Hiawatha supposedly processed our refund on 19th November 2015. As a result of this drawn-out, stressful, appalling experience, we have made the decision to never stay at a Best Western again. In the sprit of providing a true review of the hotel itself and not just our terrible experience, below is the review we would have left if this hadn't happened... Room - Our room was modern, clean and spacious, and we had no complaints about the room itself whatsoever. Front desk - Service was always a little slow, and on more than one occasion we had to wait for the staff to finish their personal conversations before serving us (my absolute pet peeve!!). Breakfast - Here we're divided. I did not like breakfast at all - there were no healthy options, only sickly sweet cereals, tarts and donuts (donuts, for breakfast!!) plus some hot food. My partner is not such a picky eater and was fine with the options provided. However, on the first morning there was a high school basketball team there, and the ravenous teenagers cleaned out all the food! We had very little to choose from and had to wait a long time for some extra breakfast to be served. Also, there was not enough room and we had to find a seat on the couch out in the lobby area. They clearly had not catered properly for the extra numbers in their hotel that day. Room cleaning - On our first morning we put up the 'Do Not Disturb' while we were at breakfast. We removed it while we were out for the day but our room was still not serviced. Overall - We would have given it 3.5 stars.

This Best Western Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. All areas were beautiful, the room, breakfast area and lobby. All employees were helpful and cheerful. We would stop there again if we get near to Hiawatha, Kansas.

This is the nicest Best Western I've stayed at in quite awhile. The rooms are nice and the staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast has a nice variety and the staff makes sure everything is fresh and the area clean.

There was a mouse in the dining room and nothing was done about it. I could not sleep all night because I kept thinking that I was hearing mice in the hotel room and they only offered a 25$ discount. Wish more would have been done. Such as setting up a trap or a free night stay for all of our trouble and distress.

Decent hotel. Overpriced and monopolized the market in Hiawatha. Would have liked to stay at a Hilton property, but this was not an option in Hiawatha. They need more staff badly. I have never seen such a poorly staffed hotel/motel. They have one person working during the night shift and one person and a housekeeper during the day.

This is the third time we have stayed in this hotel and I have to say that it has steadily gone down hill. We arrived today to a parking lot covered in ice. The elevator was broken and we had to have the keys to the room reprogrammed twice just to get our room. The carpet on the stairs was nasty and covered in crumbs. The carpet in the room was sticky. And the tv is a real piece of junk. We will go back to Atchison to stay. Won't be staying here again.

Not much to choose from in Hiawatha, KS, but it was an excellent choice. Overall excellent stay. No complaints as everything was great. Came in late at midnight and elevator had stopped. Service was called, but being tired, I walked to the third floor and went to bed. Excellent breakfast and facilities.

This was a nice hotel with a good price that was pet friendly, had fast wi-fi and a hot breakfast. This hotel was just what we needed while passing through. We had no negative issues. I would highly recommend staying here and would stay again.

We checked in with a large bunch, and even tho their printer was down, they processed us quickly and got us moving so we could make our parade!. Karen at the desk took great care of us! She even came out to take a picture of our parade float, our Camel! Then arranged for us to have the breakfast area that night to watch our KC Royals play and to eat pizza from Casey's we bought. Breakfast crew was kinda overwhelmed by us, had a hard time keeping up with how many we had there. Rooms good & clean.

This hotel was clean, friendly, and quiet, for the most part. The only obvious improvement to be made that I could think of would be the breakfast. The biscuits were.. less than desirable, and the coffee tasted off. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Very clean hotel. Quiet and convenient. Friendly staff and we got extra pillow per our request. The breakfast was tasty and there was plenty of choices. The pool was a salt water pool and there was a very nice whirlpool to relax in.

This was one of the best Abdallah Shrine members hotel stays. All Best Western locations should be upgraded to this great offering. I have stayed in a few over the United States that have become run down and poorly managed. The ability for our group to be able to enjoy the evening in a comfortable setting as set up in the lobby is alone a giant plus. Easy access, close to highways and food. Outstanding.

Clean rooms, comfy bed and pillows, quiet, friendly staff, and many other ammenities. The breakfast buffet was good, and I enjoyed sitting by the fireplace as I ate my breakfast. The price was right. I highly recommend this hotel.

I was scheduled to work in the local area by my company and was having a difficult time finding a place to stay. I'm glad I found this hotel! The staff was pleasant and helpful, the hotel was clean and quiet and they always had fresh coffee available no matter what time of day it was. I chatted several times with the cleaning ladies and everytime they asked if there was anything I needed in my room they'd get it for me. (I general leave a "do not disturb" on my door. I am capable of making my own bed and they don't need more work than they already have.) Towels, garabage bags, etc... was supplied with a smile on thier face. If I ever have to come back to this area for work I will be staying here even if it means a 30 mile drive to the job site.

Was very pleased with condition of hotel and the great value the whole experience was. It seemed to be recently painted, and the decor was very pleasing. They also offered plenty of time for the breakfast buffet so all could utilize this amenity.
