    « GREAT customer service! »

We were traveling with another couple and had booked this Best Western, or so we thought. My friend and I booked them from my computer. I booked the Best Western room and when she did her reservation, unknown to us, the sight had jumped to Hamilton Inn Select, just down the street. Imagine our surprise when I had a room but our friends did not have a good at the same hotel! Calls were made to the hotel she booked and they would not work with us to resolve our dilemma. Since it was check-in time, she would not refund the amount for her room. BUT, Best Western came to our rescue. They did not want our friends to have to pay twice for a room to stay in, once at her hotel and then for a room at the Best Western so we could be at the same hotel. They called the other hotel and asked if there was a room for my husband and I to move to on the waterfront? They did have a room for us, so Best Western let us out of our room fee to go with our friends to one hotel. I mean, how great is that! Not only did they make the reservation for us to have a room, but fixed it so we didn't have to pay at both hotels. So, my review isn't so much about the room we stayed in, but that the manager, Dave, and his staff jumped through hoops for us so that we could spend time with our friends at the same hotel. The each time we are in Mackinaw City, Best Western will be our first destination!

    « Ideal Location »

We chose this hotel because it was on the water and convenient to the ferry to Mackinac Island, We found the room clean and well-appointed. We particularly enjoyed the outside patio where we had cocktails one evening. The free breakfast was plentiful with many choices.

« Good medium priced hotel »

This is an older property but the rooms are well furnished and kept up well. It is located near the ferry docks for trips to Mackinac Island. My room was in the side wing so the view of the parking lot wasn't special but they do have rooms on the beach facing the lake and the bridge. This was an excellent value for the money. The complimentary breakfast is mostly standard self service fare with both hot and cold items. Unusually, the breakfast room is on the second floor and is large and roomy. Full window walls offer a nice view. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Fantastic Get away »

The reception staff are professional and efficient both on arrival and departure. The breakfast bar offers a large variety of fresh, hot items. The lakeside rooms look out on a lovely beach next to the marina where you can see the ferries to/from Mackinaw Island. The rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony and patio doors that brings the sound of the surf into yourvroom as well as frsh air.

This was a really nice, clean property. Great location and gorgeous views of the lake. Easy walk to all amenities. Price competitive for value received. Staff very helpful. Definitely would return on next trip to Mackinaw City.

We loved the hotel! We had a first floor water view with a balcony that was super private. We go often to Mackinac Island and the City and this was our fav Mackinaw City hotel by far. The pool was great. The place was spotless and the breakfast was very good.

« Value for your money »

I went online to Mackinaw city and was able to book this hotel for $89.00 ($98.79) after all said and done. We arrived early about 2PM and they went ahead and gave us a room. It was clean and nice. We walked behind the hotel and watched the lake and had drinks on hotel lawn chairs. Room was on the second floor but was quiet and we were able to walk around downtown and to a restaurant close by. They had a nice breakfast bar at 6AM but a little difficult to get to on the 3rd floor and had to walk in the rain a short distance on a walk way. All in all and good value.

« Terrible from top to bottom! »

Furniture and beds are old and worn out. Bathroom filthy and moldy. Breakfast is nasty. Management awful. Wifi does not work. Very rude and do not have a clue about what good customer service is. Would not advise this place to anyone. Will never stay there again.

    « Fall Trip »

We had a wonderful time in Mackinaw City, and loved the pool. Try to get a ground floor or second floor room as there is only one elevator in the entire building. The Staff was extremely accommodating and helpful, knowing the area dining and sights.

    4
    « Great location »

Great location. Rooms a bit dated. We have a room on the end on the 4th floor. The drawback is that the patio is so small you can barely get one person on it. If you had a different unit, your patio would be bigger. Also there is only one elevator and it is not central to all the rooms. The wi-fi is really slow. The location is right on the lake and very near restaurnts and shopping and all the ferries to Mackinaw Island.

« Good Room, Great Location. Odd Hotel Layout. »

My first impression of a hotel room is the 'sniff test.' Our room passed with flying colors. There were a couple of problems. Not deal breakers, but the problems with the room and the breakfast bar were why I couldn't give a '5' rating. There was a single serve coffee maker that was supplied with 2 decaf packages and only one regular. My wife and I both drink regular in the morning, and the breakfast room didn't open until 7 a.m. Fortunately, we slept late the first day so it didn't make that much difference, although I needed to go to the breakfast room for coffee immediately. The shower head installation was odd. You could direct the spray toward the back wall, but not straight down. Not a big deal but I usually step away from the shower while soaping down. I suppose I saved water by turning it off and then on again. The breakfast bar had a few problems. Of the 8 slots of available toaster capacity only 4 slots worked. And the yogurt dispenser either didn't work or wasn't filled. Finally, I'm glad it didn't rain. The rooms have outside doors and one needs to walk along these ramps, some slanting, to get to the stairs, elevator, or breakfast bar. In bad weather, it would be quite inconvenient. But ... the staff was very friendly and quite accommodating, there was coffee available 24/7 in the lobby, and I'd stay there again, as long as weather was going to be good.

« Perfect location; great rates; beach! »

This was our second stay here, and the location can't be beat for being near shops, restaurants, and the island ferries. Nice beachfront property on Lake Huron. They do have memory foam mattresses which I hate because they really hurt my back, but my husband loves, so your mileage may vary. Clean room and decent free breakfast.

    « A Wonderful Place to stay!!! »

We stayed two nights in a Waterfront room (214). Checked in Labor Day and left Wednesday. Even though we were checking in on a Holiday, the check in process was fast and smooth and we were able to find a good parking space in a lot that was already crowded. Our room was really clean and let me tell you, I check. The sheets were white, the mattress was clean and the bathroom was spotless(kudos to the Housekeeping staff- you are soooooo important and the Maintenance staff- my husband and I observed you performing various duties). He really notices this due to the fact that he is involved in Maintenance and Facility Repair as well. We also noticed the Hotel Manager (Dave), routinely walking around inspecting (with his clipboard) and making himself available to guests and staff. Here are some specifics to our stay: Our air conditioning was Nice and Cold as well as our Refrigerator!!!! Our room had a wall mount, large flat screen TV (which we Loved!!!). The Location of the Hotel is first in a long line of Hotels, on the shoreline strip. It is closest and within walking distance to downtown (where everything is). Our balcony furniture (which I spent a lot of time in ) was clean and well maintained. So often when we travel the balcony gets missed- Not here!!!! There is a room on the 3rd floor that has 2 computers for guests to use (we used them a lot to check Weather). Also right outside our room were two of the prettiest trees, one was an Apple and the other had some type of fruit- they were trimmed and very pretty. To be picky, the only thing we noticed was the beachfront(which was nice), could use some raking(you know how you rake the beach longways, not sure how to describe other than a small tractor with a rake). Also some large, scattered rocks could be removed. But again, this is just "looking for improvement". Great Place to stay!!!!!

    « Waited to long »

Overlooked going to be in area on a Friday night and delayed making reservation. By time I acted hotel prices had doubled. Wanted to stay at Best Western in St Ignace but it was full so took one in Mackinaw city.

    « Excellent Hotel & Services »

My wife and I were very pleased with this hotel and their services. They were very helpful throughout our stay. This hotel is right on the water in the harbor at Mackinaw City. Great location. Very close to excellent eating facilities and close to either shipping line to Mackinaw Island. Our suite was one of the finest we have ever experienced.

    4
« Comfortable and reasonably priced »

Our stay at the hotel was comfortable to say the least. The beds were super comfy and the rooms a good size. The shower also good. Staff all very helpful especially when we were locked out of our room! We didn't use the beach but it looked ok. The pool was a nice temperature, not too cold and whirlpool also not too hot. Pool could do with a bit of a repaint underwater. Breakfast limited but free so don't complain. Only scored it 4* due to slow WiFi and our room was very dark due to the location (atop the stairs - so no natural light). Hotel is also conveniently located for the star line ferry and downtown restaurant's etc.

    5
    « Great Experience »

A great location and saved some money as a AAA member. Our view of the beach was amazing. The girls at the front desk were very helpful and an overall joy to speak with. The complementary breakfast well great as well. Will stay here again if we plan another trip to Mackinaw.

« Great Stay for the Labor Day Bridge Walk »

We came to MI for the annual Labor Day walk over the Mackinaw Bridge. This hotel was a great choice. It was next to the state dock where the buses load for the trip across the bridge to begin the walk. But more than that the hotel is on the beach. We could sit on our private patio and see the water or leave the sliding door open and listen to the waves. Everything in town is within an easy walk from the hotel. The property was clean and comfortable.

    4
    « Clean and comfortable »

If you look at the main photo of the hotel, it looks like there's a really nice beach. It's not. It was okay, but there were Canadian Geese pooping everywhere on the beach. Not the fault of the hotel, but not very enticing to walk there. ALL of the staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. The room was very clean and we had a great night's sleep.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

Very nice hotel and the room was very clean with a nice view of the lake. The internet was very, very, slow at night and frustrating. The beds were nice, soft and clean but the mattress was worn on one side which made for a bad nights sleep. The breakfast was very cold and not very appealing but there is a Star Bucks across the street.

« NIce Updated, Clean Hotel Overlooking Lake, But a Few Detractions »

We really enjoye this hotel, by and large, except for a few exceptions (see below). On the plus sside, the room was large and updated. It was what I would label as a modern mid-range hotel room. Nothing fancy, but very serviceable. The A/C was excellent. The view of the lake and shore was excellent. However, the beds were quite well worn, and the mattress leaned to one side, indicating plenty of wear. The Internet was a lost cause. I simply ceased attempting to do anything on the Internet due to the constant time-outs. My wife made sure that I was fully aware of this frustrating situation. Breakfast was miserable. Supposed a hot breakfast. Hmmm. Rubber sausage patties. Powdered scrambled eggs. And, of course, plenty of carbohydrates - breads, cereals and instant waffles. Even the coffee tasted inadequate. My recommendation is to not even plan on consuming what is labeled as breakfast food and go elsewhere. Who wants to start their day with this wretched food? So, overall, an OK room with a nice view and great A/C. Probably paid more than the room deserved, but it is what it is.

    « Group trip »

Our stay at this hotel was top notch from the manager Dave and all his staff both front desk and housekeeping we have no complaints..Our entire bus group had a wonderful time..Be sure to get a lakeview room...it was so nice

    4
    « Nice decor »

The rooms were roomy and nicely decorated. Comfortable beds, nice pool and hot tub, good breakfast. Front desk clerks were not very friendly. Maybe they become like robots after dealing with so many people. The beach looked nice although we didn't have time to use it. A bit of noise from kids in the pool but otherwise ok.

    2
« Good room - the rest needs a lot of attention »

The room was nice but our lake view was more 50% lake and 50% parking lot..... acceptable but nothing more than that. Bed was very comfortable and room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was DREADFUL. We decided on this hotel/motel in favour of the others - even though it was double the price - mainly because we thought the standard would be better. That certainly did not extend to the check in or breakfast. Breakfast was in an acceptable room, but noisy, we had to clean our own tables, eggs were like rubber, biscuits and gravy had no taste, tined fruit, plastic cutlery that couldn't even cut a waffle without bending, paper plates - one to be missed!! Certainly the worst breakfast experience we have had in all our travels throughout USA in motels and hotels. All in all very disappointed and would certainly put me off another 'Best' Western. It's a shame - the bed was great!!! Wifi was ok but slow.

    3
    « Not great »

This place is in need of some basic updates. The air conditioner unit was discharging smelly air, but since th temperature outside was comfortable we did not need to use it. Very eighties decor which is kinda cool for a throwback vibe or Trump suporters.

    4
« Room was great, everything else was a little lacking... »

I'd actually give this hotel a 3.5 rating. First, the positives: The room. We're a family of four and we ended up in a room on the 4th floor. The room was clean and more than spacious enough for all of us. We also had a balcony with a lovely view of the beach. Beds were comfy and since we were on the 4th floor, we slept with the balcony door open...(lovely breeze, the sound of the water, etc.). The room was nice - some reviewers were saying the decor was dated but to me it just felt more traditional. It was not old or shabby by any stretch. I would definitely stay here again for the room size alone. Now, for the negatives: The staff wasn't all that friendly. I saw in other reviews that people had a better experience with the staff. Maybe we were so late in the season that everyone was just tired of dealing with tourists or something. Upon check-in, the girl at the front desk was so unimpressed with having to deal with us it was like her brain was actually about to die. Also, the morning we were checking out - around 9:30, housekeeping kind of barged right into the room. She knocked twice quickly and came in before I could get to the door, then got really defensive saying "I knocked!". Yes, well, this is a big room and I couldn't make it to the door in the 2.6 seconds you gave me. She seemed confused as to whether we were checking out that day or not, and when I told her we were, she told me to "take our time". Uhh...okay, thanks? My kids loved the pool. I found the water to be too cold and over chlorinated, but they had a blast. The hot tub was nice, but the jets seemed to be having issues. Overall, the pool and pool area were clean and well maintained, although the towels were seriously like sandpaper. But biggest issue with the pool is that it doesn't open until 11:00am. Seriously? This just felt shady, like they wanted to keep the people who were on their check out day from using the facility one last time. Maybe this is a "thing" with all the hotels in that area, maybe they've figured out that people will leave faster if they can't use the pool...?No idea, but it sucks. If you're traveling with young kids who live for the pool, take note! My kids were NOT happy. The breakfast was okay, nothing special, what you usually get at the "breakfast included" hotel. Again, if you're traveling with young kids, take note - They serve breakfast on the 2nd floor above the lobby and there are no restrooms anywhere in sight. I know this seems like a nitpicky thing, however, if you're room is all the way on the other side of the hotel (as ours was) and your five year old suddenly has a DEFCON-1 bathroom situation, the ONLY bathroom available is the one in the pool area downstairs behind the lobby IF they have the door to the pool unlocked. Overall, we'd stay here again simply for the room. I do feel like they should emphasize when you check-in that you do not have use of the pool and hot tub on your check-out day. Just some extra tips for the area - Eat at the Keyhole Bar & Grill. By far the best and most economical meal we had there. There's a place just a few doors down from there with the BEST ice cream (The Sweet Spot, I think it was called...it had a big pink sign).

    4
    « Great Location »

This hotel while a bit dated in the decor, was a real gem to find. It was close to everything and the rate was cheaper than we expected.! We were able to walk to the ferry for Mackinaw Island and had dinner just across the street. I would for sure stay here again!

    4
« Clean, convenient, friendly staff »

Really nice hotel for an overnight stay in the city before departing for the Island. It was conveniently located within walking distance of the main part of Mackinaw City. We had a room overlooking the water. The room was large and very clean. They have a nice beach area for guests in addition to an indoor pool and hot tub. The staff is excellent. They were so nice to let us check in a few hours early and were very helpful with directions. The free breakfast has plenty of options for everyone. Overall a great stay for a great price and a great location.

    5
    « Fantastic place !! »

Great place to stay ! Very clean, very close to shops. Nice breakfast, pool was nice, whirl pool was not hot, but that was the only negative. Front desk, was so nice an helpful, to anything we asked.very large rooms, also. You won't be disappointed, honestly.

    4
    « Great »

We were pleased with this hotel. Our room was right on the beach and had a great view. Unfortunately, it got cold and rained while we were traveling so we weren't able to enjoy it, however, had the weather cooperated we certainly would have! The staff was nice. Our room was nice as well.

    « Nice hotel »

The hotel is very nice. I have stayed there several times over the last 4 summers. I have always been happy with my stays there. The included breakfast should have more choices. The staff is quite friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have. If you have any issues while there, they will take them seriously and fix the problem. I will return and stay next summer.

« Great location with a lovely beach »

This hotel is in a great location within Mackinac City. The lobby is welcoming and front desk staff are friendly and professional. Several rooms offer fantastic lake views. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The little stretch of beach is very pretty and invites you to enjoy it.

    3
« Reality - so, so place to stay given the price »

We had a great view of the lake, you can't beat that. Beach is good, but not well maintained and is subject to the type of people staying there. Some upgrades to the hotel, but many more needed for an average $225 per night. We had leaky faucets and the chrome finish on fixtures was just about gone. Looks like carpeting and some outside building upgrades were recently done. We unfortunately couldn't enjoy our balcony due to a rude guest who barbecued on their patio (lowest level rooms are below grade) and when confronted by management when we complained, just moved out to the beach and did it there. My view of the lake included this guest bending over in the lake washing his grill out (I'm sure the kids playing in the lake loved walking into that). With an east wind, the smell of charcoal lighter fluid doesn't make for a nice evening and we got burned two nights in a row and couldn't enjoy our balcony. They should have been thrown out and that didn't occur and management was clearly told that. The price of their room must be more important than the price of this review. It is close to many areas to walk to, that is a plus and there are other hotels with the same setting. Breakfast in the morning Is pretty much a zoo, food is OK. Staff is very friendly, but again, should have taken a firmer approach to the people below us.

« Weekend Bike Trip to Mackinaw »

Just want to say thanks to Dave the Manager and his very friendly staff. We stayed this past Friday & Saturday nights. Dave made sure we had safe parking for our Pick-Up Truck and Trailer along with Harley's. They were full both nights but everything was clean and quite. This will be the first place I call for next years trip. Thanks again for the great place to stay.

« Beautiful room, beautiful view! »

I stayed at Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City, Michigan on August 6th 2016. We have stayed here many times before and always come back! The room décor is great and the room and bathroom are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful! The view from my room is an amazing view of Lake Huron! There is a beach with chairs and tables for guests. There is a breakfast with a variety of choices for the whole family! I recommend Best Western Plus Dockside in Mackinaw City, Michigan to anyone! I hope to be back in Mackinaw City next year and will definitely stay here again! Thank you!!!

« Excellent motel and location! »

The motel and staff were first class and their location was within walking distance of most local attractions. You are a short walk(or a shuttle pickup at the front door) to the various ferry operators to Mackinac Island too! They have a nice continental breakfast with one of the bigger dining areas I've seen.

    3
    « OK »

Can't beat the private beach which the kids loved. Steps from ferry line to Mack Island as well as downtown Mack City. So great location. Room was nicely furnished but not great, with comfortable beds and pretty up to date styling although some wear marks. One room suite was kind of cramped. Top floor so our beach side balcony was half the size of other floors, disappointing. Pool was fine. Free breakfast was your typical hotel free breakfast with the waffles and biscuits and gravy. Fine. Odd layout to get around with outdoorish hallways and quirky stairwells. Dated looking exterior. Big deal. Seemed like we paid too much for what we got, but loved the location.

    « Room 215 »

What an amazing experience! Although this hotel is older, our room was beautiful. Clean, view of the water, pier and beach. Staff (especially reception area) were welcoming and so helpful. Breakfast is continental but had so much variety. Walking distance to the ferry and downtown area. Great vacation spot for all ages. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

« Great Location for Everything Mackinaw »

This was a family vacation and we booked 4 rooms months in advance. Our room and another overlooked the courtyard parking lot. There was nothing wrong with this view. We could see the lake and downtown. The other two rooms upgraded to a lake view. We were very happy with our room. It had two queen beds and was roomy. There was a long low dresser that could accommodate two suitcases. It's not very often that my husband and I both can comfortably put our suitcases out. And there were lots of plugs. This hotel seemed to pay attention to some of the little things that others do not. The free breakfast was typical. A nice variety of items, but not quality food. We did not care for the coffee so we walked up town for a better cup of brew. Hotel was was within walking distance of ferry docks and uptown. We would definitely stay here again.

    2
« Nice location, big tv...but that is all »

This hotel has a lovely location, However, our patio was covered in spiderweb, sand and bird feathers. The room was very dated with the exception of the large flat screen....but the worst was the small square bed pillows and hard as a rock foam mattresses. Not at all what I would have expected in a $350.00 room.

« Always Our Place to Stay! »

We visit Mackinaw at least once if not twice a year and this is our go to place to stay!!! The staff is excellent...pool is clean....and rooms are always clean too! Perfect location to the ferry docks, shops, and restaurants.

    5
    « Beautiful Hotel »

Best Western Hotel is a very beautiful looking hotel right in the heart of a very busy Tourist Area. The rooms are very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable bed. The breakfast was very extensive and included everything you could possibly want. Right across the street starts shopping, mini-golf, and a very short walk to the Crosswinds Village which has many unique stores. The Village also hooks on to the downtown area. If you are wanting to go to Mackinac Island, the ferry boats are right next door. You can have the front desk call and they will send a shuttle for you. The hotel staff is very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

    3
    « Standard Hotel »

The hotel was a standard hotel, the rooms were average in size. Price wise this is a tourist area, so the rooms are around twice as much in price as is normal if not more so. There was nothing really wrong with this hotel, and location wise it was easy to get around town by walking. The price factor will make it so that we will look elsewhere.

    5
    « First visit, very pleased . »

This was our first time to Mackinaw City and we were very please with our hotel choice. The room was very clean, the hotel was very quite and the beach was great. Very expensive but comparible to the other hotels. Definitely spend the extra to get a lake view.

    5
« Great place for a family reunion! »

We hosted a family reunion at this hotel and the facilities, hotel staff, location to local attractions were all excellent! We rented out their conference room, which was beautiful. A great place to hold an event! The manager, Dave, was fantastic!! Great hotel - clean, updated, and quiet. Pay the extra money for a beach view. Wonderful hotel!

    4
« Great accommodations and location. »

Room was very spacious and clean. The balcony afforded a great view of the harbor and activities of the ferries going and coming from Mackinak Island. Shuttle to the ferry dock is available just for the asking.

    2
« Will not stay here again »

The hotel staff for the most part is pleasant but the hotel itself is run down, filthy, and the rooms are dated and dark. The furniture is so bulky and the tiles in the bathroom are moldy and coming off the wall. The room had a bad odor. The view of the beach was nice but the beach itself had trash on it and I felt it was neglected by staff. The breakfast is okay for a free breakfast but don't expect too much. I will not stay here again. I'm not sure why this hotel was rated so high compared to other mackinaw city hotels. I will stay at the Hamilton inn next time as it looked to be the best kept hotel in the area and a friend of mine stayed there and was pleased. I could not wait to leave the best western, it was not comfortable, is dated and filthy. There is also only one elevator for the entire hotel staff and guests which is very very inconvenient especially if you are staying of the 4th floor. Expensive for nothing hotel! Very disappointed in this hotel and happy I spent most of my time outside.

« "Great Value, Location and Hospitality" »

We have stayed here several times on family vacations. We continue to enjoy the pleasant and accommodating staff, the very clean and pleasant rooms and the breakfast bar. The location is second to none. The Inn is located next to the Ferry Docks, and a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. The pool area is well maintained and very enjoyable. The beach area is a bonus that isn't available in other motels. Charmaine was a great representative of the Motel.

    « Convenient location »

Very good hotel close to town, easy walk to restaurants, shops and ferries. Clean, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Could use a second elevator, a larger parking lot and larger balcony overlooking the lake. Pool and hot tub were fine, didn't use the beach.

    « Great Location »

Stayed two nights in a standard room two queen beds for two adults and one teen. Great price for the area. We called the morning of our check in day. The location can't be beat. It is at the end of a long strip of hotels and is the closest to the ferry and shops. The grounds, lobby, common areas and room are clean but felt a little dated overall. I would stay here again if I returned to the area. The beach access was great!

« Summer Break from the Heat »

Pros: Rooms are clean and the housekeepers are efficient. The location is right in the heart of town. The adjacent beach is quiet and peaceful. It is near the ferry. The beds were comfortable and the linens clean and crisp. Cons: The hotel's advertising is a bit deceptive in that the photos show balconies overlooking the lake, but when we arrived we were assigned to a room with absolutely no view. It was going to add $20 more a day for the rooms in the ad. The hotel is "stick built", so you can hear the noisy kids in the room above you. Breakfast was the usual stuff found in motels. Not sure why the place was rated so high.

The location of best western is perfect..walked to the bridge each day...great shopping and resturants. All the rooms are clean and very roomy . The beds and pillows are very comfortable. All employees were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and area outside the pool. Also there is large breakfast dining room and large assortment of food to pick from. We enjoyed the water and the view and the beach . Loved all the chairs and loungers to accommodate everyone. We had a fabulous family reunion and will return to best western dockside.

    « Great place »

Loved the lake side room with patio steps up to beach. Watched boats leave for Mackinaw Island all day long. Indoor pool very nice. Breakfast excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great place for kids and adults. Can watch kids swim and plan on beach while having cocktail on patio. Walking distance to Mackinaw City shopping and restaurants. Will definitely go back and perhaps take all the family

    « Just above standard »

Large hotel, good location, with its own beach on Lake Huron, close to I-75 and Mackinac Bridge. Ferries to Mackinac Island are in walking distance. Same goes for downtown Mackinaw City with plenty of restaurants and shops. Free parking available. Our room was spacious though relatively dark, overlooking the parking lot. Had all the standard interior, fridge but no room safe. Internet worked well. Has pool and fitness center, the gym itself below standard, no free weights, just treadmills and a stepper. And a strange cable fitness machine like from the Sixties. Standard free hot breakfast plus waffles, in separate breakfast area, was ok but with tasteless scrambled eggs and sausage, sour and hard fruit salad. No big deal. All in all a standard Best Western, though quite pricey.

    « Quick overnight stay »

We stopped here for a quick overnight stay. Very clean, friendly staff, beautiful views. Beach is nice, pool and hot tub area was decent. Nice continental breakfast. Great location, close to downtown. Adequate parking (we were pulling a boat). Would definitely stay here again.

    « Great location! »

Had a lakeside room and the view was fantastic. Watched the Island Ferries come and go, parasailers all day and a great sunrise! Breakfast was all we could ask for. Room was clean and the desk was great for my laptop to keep up on the latest.

Clean and well maintained. Mattress was very comfortable. Near the downtown area. Secure place to leave bikes overnight was really helpful. Good breakfast with lots of choices. Friendly helpful staff.

    « Good Hotel »

Stayed here for two nights over the 4th of July holiday, and we got a really good rate through the Mackinaw City website. The front desk staff were nice and friendly. The room was clean. We had a beachfront room with a balcony, which was okay. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast. The location is fantastic - within walking distance to the ferries, the bridge, downtown. It's in the middle of everything. Considering the price, it was a good deal, especially since it was a holiday weekend.

« Clean with full breakfast »

We stayed one night before heading to Mackinac Island for a week. We had a suite with 2 queens and a king in a separate room. Unfortunately there was no ventilation in the separate bedroom so even with the door open and the a/c cranked to high it got warm and stuffy in there. Other than that, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of plugs for all your gadgets. Full breakfast was typical for the area, waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits & gravy were the hot items. Tasted fine but nothing special. Staff at checkin and checkout were friendly and courteous. I would consider staying here again but probably not in a suite.

    « Bike Trip »

Hotel lives up to its ratings. Nice, clean and staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool could use some adult time. We got chased out by too many kids and little adult supervision. The beach was nice.

    « Best Hotel »

Thanks to Michael Gofourth we stayed at the Best Western Plus this hotel is so amazing it has a great view and an outstanding beach the kids loved it. The rooms were very well cleaned and really fancy. The free breakfast in the morning was delicious. We definitely will be back her next year. If your looking for a hotel choose this one.

    « Excellent Stay »

We would definitely choose to stay here again upon returning to Mackinac City. The location was wonderful - walking distance to shops and restaurants, and on the water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Used the fitness room which was adequate, as well as the breakfast. The rate was very reasonable for a tourist town, especially for the location - on the water. A very pleasant stay and I would highly recommend to others.

« Nice setting by Lake Huron »

Getting a room facing the lake is worth the extra money, especially on July 4, as the fireworks go over the lake and you have a front view from your balcony. Location is convenient to the various attractions including the ferry to Mackinac Island for which they sell discounted tickets.

    « Terrific staff »

We were traveling in Northern Michigan, following the coast, stopping in different towns every night. We did not have a reservation when we arrived at Mackinaw City. Dave and his excellent staff were able to accommodate us. When we decided we wanted to stay 3 nights, they worked very hard and were able to give us a lakeside room for all 3 nights. The staff at this place was excellent. 2 thumbs up!!

    4
    « A nice stop... »

We stay here at least once a year...the reservation process was much smoother this year so seems like new management maybe...last year , we were enroute to this destination and they tried to call our home to confirm we were coming..we weren't home! Someone ahead of us in the lobby trying to check in, had their room given to someone else...not a pretty sight...I made sure to give our cell phone this year but received an email the day before our arrival asking for any changes to be made then...so, seemed like they made a change...also, the front desk clerk who checked us in, offered his assistance on where to park our vehicle with boat and trailer...even walked outside with us and directed us...very helpful. Rooms are comfy, amenities adequate...the only complaint I would have is the constant humming of the dehumidifier in the room... They offer a decent hot breakfast buffet as well... We will stay here again I am sure due to the location and comfortable rooms.

    « Great Location »

I stayed for 2 nights with my 2 daughters. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The hotel location was walking distance to the local shops and ferries. The front desk staff were very helpful during our stay. Breakfast was good. Small beach was nice also. The room charge included passes to 3 indoor waterparks off site. We visited one of them and was not impressed. It was not clean, had bugs in the water and trash around the side. Overall our stay at the Best Western was enjoyable and we would stay here again and recommend to others.

    « Mackinaw City »

Fairly clean room, dirty grout in bathroom. Front desk all Jamacain and not very helpful as far as local sightseeing goes. Nice pool and hot tub.Convenient walking location to shopping and the ferry. Don't bother with free waterparks unless children very small.

Room 405 Balcony with view of the lake. Kerry completed our reservation timely and gave us a personal tour of the room. She made a personal call to our room to ensure the commendations exceeded our expectations. Kerry also suggested and provided our discounted ferry ride tickets to the Island. The daily continental breakfast was delicious and fresh. The room was kept clean with fresh linens provided everyday. The balcony view of the lake and dockside were an added plus. Thank you Kerry and staff!

    « 4 nights »

Hotel seems overpriced. Reading other reviews tells me that we were lucky to have a room. The included "free hot breakfast" is bland, reheated precooked mass produced stuff. But if you stick to bananas, toast, milk, and coffee it's OK. Having a balcony to look out was very nice. Moonrise was beautiful on the calm lake. Bring a big fan, the AC never gets cold. Place was clean but kinda sandy from the beach. Housekeepers worked very hard.

Very clean, attentive and helpful staff. Cleaness pool and hot tub we have been in!!! Excellent hot/cold breakfast, lots of variety. Beach is clean with lots of areas to gather and lounge chairs. We had a waterfront room on the main floor..which was nice but wanted one on a higher floor....no problem..we were moved the next morning. Great location...walked to all the attractions and resturants and to the waterfront by the bridge.

    « Great Time!!! »

My daughter and I had a great time we enjoyed the beach, pool, hot tub and complementary breakfast. The staff was polite, prompt and accommodating. Our hotel room was very nice, had a lakefront view on the first level and not only did the door wall open to a nice patio with a table and two chairs but it also had a few stairs to walk up and you're on the beach with a lake view; just beautiful and soooo relaxing. I've stayed at this hotel 3 times in the past seven years and it just gets better and better. Thank you everyone for making our stay outstanding and a special thanks to Charmaine. Ms. Taylor

    « Great location »

This hotel is within walking distance to almost everything you would want to see, even the ferries to the island. We got an early check in and they even let us keep the car in the parking lot after check out to make a quick trip downtown. Our room was beach level and you could walk right out to the beach. I will be Back for sure.

    « Nice location »

Good location, very close to town. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We had a lakeside room with balcony. The room was clean and well kept. Breakfast was the standard fare, with a very large room that accommodate many people. This hotel is heavily used, but the management does an excellent job, covering all of the bases.

    5
« Can we move in permanently? »

We were given a choice of what level to stay on. Naturally we chose ground floor with access to the beach from our private patio. Had a great time. If/when we return to this area, this would be our first choice in hotels.

I recently made two reservations for this coming October. « Bike Ride across Mackinaw Bridge »

My stay at the Best Western was truly a wonderful blessing due to the amazing Manager, Dave. I drove 5 hours from the Detroit area for the Big Mac bike tour and was very excited about the second day of the ride which was crossing over the Mackinaw Bridge. At about 8:30pm, the night before the bridge ride, I noticed that I had a flat tire. I am embarrassed to admit that I had no spare inner tube and no idea how to fix a flat. Since there is no bike shop in Mackinaw City, I asked Dave for advice. Dave was patient, kind and resourceful as he suggested that I drive to the Walmart in Cheboygan to purchase an inner tube. When I explained that I didn't know how to fix my tire, Dave immediately offered to fix it for me. I asked when Dave was done working which was at 10pm. Dave offered to stay later if I wasn't back in time with the inner tube. Dave ended up working on my bike for over an hour. I inadvertently purchased the wrong inner tube which caused several complications. Dave worked on my bike for over an hour, until 10:45pm. If I hadn't stayed at the Best Western, I'm certain that I would not have been able to successfully cross the bridge the next day. In addition to the amazing service that I received from the management , the rooms were spacious, clean and the breakfast buffet was very good. I highly recommend this Best Western and will certainly stay there again!!!:)

    « Two night stay »

My family stayed here for two nights. We had a good room in the first floor facing the water. It was a great location, because we could walk right out to the beach...the water was only about 40 feet from our door. The rooms were typical for a Best Western. We were underwhelmed by the breakfast and the next day we went across the street to eat. It has a great location, within walking distance of many restaurants, attractions and stores. We were able to buy ferry tickets here at a little bit of a discount, which was helpful too.

« Could have been better »

Ala very crowd hotel. Staff could have a better attitude towards guests checking in and be more welcoming. Rooms are ok, normal size and an advantage if you het the jacuzzi king, which is good. The best overall is location. Walkable distance to downtown and beachfront. Recommend but would let management know to train their staff to have a friendlier behavior with guests.

    4
    « A Hidden Gem! »

This hotel is a little older, but our family really liked it. The pool and hot tub were great. The rooms are clean and the beds are great. The hotel front desk crew (Kerry) made us feel warm and welcomed! We will go back. The hotel is centrally located to shops and restaurants.

    5
    « Great place »

This is a very nice place to stay. Right on the beach so you can swim in the lake. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was very relaxing. Breakfast bar offered many choices. It is close to ferry service to the island. We will return.

    3
« Not one of the better Best Western ' s we've stayed in »

The best thing about this hotel is you can get the cheapest ferry tickets to cross to the Island. The check-in was brusque at best. I asked to be sure I got my extra points as I'm a Diamond member and about got my head bit off. The breakfast was disappointing and had no bacon - what's breakfast without bacon? It was a comfortable room but not sure I'd stay here, again.

« Expensive lodging- poor experience »

Facility is impressive in appearance , but falls short on performance. Breakfest was maginal in options and in quality of taste and appearance in compared to most BW plus establishments. The in room heater/ AC was terribly noise that could only be stopped by turning down or off. Management made no effort to fix, but rather that you didn't use it.

    « Relaxing start to a vacation »

We stayed here for 3 nights just before Memorial Day weekend. It was wonderful. No crowds. 10 cars in the parking lot. Our room was right on the beach, altho too cold to go swimming. The geese greeted us one morning outside our door. The atmosphere was so relaxing. We walked to the ferry terminal. Our last night here was the start of the holiday weekend, and the parking lot was full. If we have anything negative to say it would be about the beds. They are kind of droopy and Need replacing.

    3
    « Average stay »

Check in was fine, but the three people working at 930pm spent more time talking to each other than getting me checked in. The room was clean and comfortable. The one elevator was very far from my room. Locating vending areas was a chore because they weren't adequately mapped. I wasn't aware until I arrived there was no smoking on the premises, so I smoked in my truck, which is fine but that would have been nice to know. Getting to the pool was difficult because no maps or signage. Breakfast was good. Overall it wasn't terrible but I won't stay again.

« Quick trip to the UP - was pleased!! »

I didn't know what to expect with the somewhat mixed reviews. Upon arrival (11AM) we assumed our room wasn't ready. At the time, we had a courtside room. They said we could upgrade for 20.00 to a lake view. We accepted. Still thought our room wasn't ready, but about 5 minutes later, the front desk woman brought us our keys. She was SUPER friendly and personable. Not sure of her name though. Got to our room, unpacked and headed out for the day. Nice that they offer a shuttle to/from the ferry service. We took Shepler's, as the more expensive on is a 45 minute ride and I have a one year old. That was also helpful that she was knowledgeable about the things going on around the city/island. The hotel was clean and very accommodating. Nice pool and hot tub! Would stay here again, very centrally located and great breakfast with many choices!!

    « Calming »

This was towards the beginning of a week long trip. Had made reservations about a week ahead and requested a room facing the lake (best on the 2nd or 3rd floor). It was a clean, relaxing stay. Loved to hear the lake's waves during the night, relaxing. We had a balcony and got a number of pictures of boats and birds. I get up earlier than my family and it was nice to just sit on the balcony and relax before a busy sightseeing day.

    5
    « Very friendly »

This was a very pretty hotel. We had a room looking onto the lake and the view was fantastic. Every one on the staff was so helpful and very, very friendly throughout our stay. They couldn't do enough for us and were very attentive. The complimentary breakfast was good and there was plenty of choices.

« BW Dockside Mackinaw City - great stay »

We stayed one night at the BW Dockside in Mackinaw City on our way to spending a few nights at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The value and quality of the room were excellent. The breakfast was good but quite standard for most hotels. We had a lake view room which was a huge plus. The only (somewhat) negative was the room was quite dark.

    4
« Great stay in Mackinaw City »

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was good and the breakfast room was clean and well attended by staff. The location was great, room was right on the water and we enjoyed the view. We would return to this hotel again.

    5
    « Excellent! »

After we checked in, we went up to our room only to discover that it had not been cleaned at all. The bed was all messed up, towels were everywhere, and the trash was not emptied. It looked as if someone has JUST checked out. I called the front desk from the room and reported the issue. The lady at the front desk asked me to hold a moment... When she came back on the line, she asked me if a room with only one bed was alright. I would have been satisfied if they would have just offered to clean the room, but I said yes, and she proceeded to tell me that she would be happy to accommodate us and move us into a room with a king size bed and a jetted tub. A gentleman (manager maybe?) brought us the new room keys and told us where the room was. When we arrived.. WOW! It looked like a honeymoon suite! Gorgeous! And all for the same price we would have paid for our original room! I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and will absolutely recommend it to friends and family! Thank you BWPlus!

    « Love this hotel! »

« One of the Nicer hotels in Mackinaw City »

Friendly Staff, good effort made to keep the property clean, the 6 year old we took did not want to leave. Breakfast was decent. We have stayed at 50% of the hotels in Mackinaw City and this is one of the ones we would go back to. One of the best locations in the city.

« Big rooms and free breakfast »

We really enjoyed our stay here with our family. The two bedroom suites were perfect for kids in one room and adults in the other with a pullout couch area plus small entry way in between. Very clean. Pool and hot tub were great. Free breakfast included had a lot of options, though crowded. I was just very impressed for the prices we paid for the rooms. We had a few minor things we had to call the front desk for and they were very responsive, especially Dave! :) We will happily come back here to stay when visiting the area- so much better than the exorbitant rates they charge for extra tiny rooms on Mackinac Island itself!

    2
    « Misrepresented »

Disappointed with this place! Not at all like the Web pictures. Looks like you are on the lake but our room was on the interior, dark, outdated, and musty smell! Had reservations months in advance thinking it had a view!!!! No way could you see the water, it was under the stairwell. Had young children running around at 4:00 A.M. What are they doing up at that hour? Then the Mother screams at them and slams the door! Obviously NO SLEEP that night! Only nice thing, it was centrally located.

    3
    « Over Rated Hotel »

Pick this hotel from a web site. Not the best choice. The building is very old and although building maintenance is being done, it is not up to date. Key pad to rooms is the insert card type and that style has been around since the 70's. Not the best. Room furnishings is from the 60's and most rooms do not have a view. The complex needs torn down and replaced by a more modern high rise style. I can't recommend staying here, even though the price is fair.

    5
    « Awesome Stay »

Wow, for the price, all i can day is wow. My girlfriend and I came up for a romantic visit and everything was fantastic. From the nice lady at the desk, to the Manager Dave, to the very nice hotel maids, the entire experience was absolutely heart-warming. Thank you, Best Western of Mackinaw City. And just look at the view from the room!

    « Dark, Dirty, Unfriendly »

We stayed here for one night as we were arriving in town in the evening and heading to the island for the rest of our trip the following day. My husband picked this hotel due to its high rating. While on our 6+ drive we kept getting phone calls from the hotel wanting to know if we were still coming. Mind you it's not like we were arriving really late, we probably arrived around 4 or 5pm. We were on the road and not in a place to be on the phone and they kept calling; odd. All interactions with any staff, including the manager, were unpleasant and not friendly at all. Due to that alone I would not recommend this hotel. Grumpy, rude, and act like you are an annoyance simply by checking in or out or asking a basic question. The room was dark and stale smelling, felt dirty and had mold in the bathroom. At the time I did not remove the sheets or pillowcases to check the mattresses and pillows but I now wonder what I would have found if I had, ew. Anyways I would not stay here again even if I was offered a free night and I wouldn't let my family or friends either. Pay more and stay on the island instead. Or stay on St Ignace if necessary. I don't know how this place has such high reviews and neither does my husband.

« Mackinaw City, Best Western Plus »

While traveling over the U.S. we stay at Best Western, I know what to expect, which is good. Mackinaw City Best Western Plus is no exception. Check in was effortless the room was comfortable and check out was easy. People went out of their way to help.

    « Nice place »

Very happy with the hotel and staff. The only downside was our room on the second floor opened out to the pool, on the main floor, which made it very dark in the room. Breakfast was great, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

« Caution if you have mobility issues. »

The staff was great. The rooms were very nice and a good value for the money. However, the hotel has 2 wings and they are not at the same level. They only have on elevator and there are ramps that need to be used to access offset levels. We were in the wing facing the lake and that meant ramps up and down to get to the breakfast area.

    5
« Great stay and a convenient location. »

Great breakfast and pool / hot tub room. Rooms are well setup, clean and comfortable. We have stayed at the Best Western Dockside several years in a row for the Zoo-de-mack bike ride and have never been disappointed.

    « Housekeeping »

I would rate this hotel higher had I not been treated rather rudely by one of the housekeeping employees. Only one, I must emphasize! Most were kind and very accommodating. The day we checked out, I was returning to my room after breakfast when I ran into the housekeeper. She commented to me "Oh, you're still here." It was 9:30 in the morning! (check-out is 11am). Later, after my friends returned to the room to pack up, the housekeeper opened our door. We told her we were packing up to leave She gave us a disgusted look and rolled her eyes at us. Really?!!! It still was not even close to being 11 am! Why tell your guests that check out is 11 am when you have your employees applying pressure for us to get out well before then? Funny thing, Housekeeping left a note on the nightstand asking for a tip with the added quote "God Bless". I would normally leave a little something but this time the only tip I left was, "Don't be RUDE to the customer!"

« Always a great stay at the Best Western Dockside »

We stay here twice a year, spring and fall. We always enjoy our stay here, close to the crossings and the Breakfast buffet never lets us down. The pool is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Our best deals have always been over the intrnet.

    « Great Overnight Stay »

This is a very nice inn.Our room was on the lower floor steps away from the water. The room was very clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. I will stay here again if I come this way. We were given coupons to use at nearby resturants and stores. This inn is only a few blocks from main street Mackinaw City.

    « Michigan stay »

This is a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect and it's easy to get to the ferry to Mackinaw Island. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and places to eat. Janet and Marie made our room clean and provided everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent, with several choices and the hostess was very friendly. The weather was cold during our stay so we definitely want to come back to visit the area and when we do will stay here.

    « Worth a Visit »

If you're going to visit the island, or maybe the fudge shops in the city as you're getting ready to travel over the great Mackinaw Bridge and explore St. Ignace or Pictured Rocks...this is a nice place to plant your feet for a night or two. It's on the southern end of town and there's no view of the bridge but it's on the water, it's clean and comfortable with spacious rooms, reasonably priced and friendly staff. There's a nice mom-n-pop restaurant across the street and you're within less than a 5-min walk to the main drag.

    « Well appointed »

Mackinaw City is well worth a visit and this is an excellent place to stay while doing so. The rooms are very well appointed though the coffee machine, fridge and jacuzzi timer are a bit hidden away. There is a very spacious feel, helped by the original spaciousness of the village when originally planned, close to various attractions. The breakfast room islight and spacious with a view over the adjacent park and waterfront. Roomkey attracts a discount at various restaurants.

« Okay hotel, outstanding area! »

The hotel was not up to usual Best Western standards, kind of plain, breakfast was awful. It was clean and relatively quiet. The location, however, is great. This is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, and I have traveled constantly the last several years. The weather is perfect in the summer if you don't like extreme heat, which my husband doesn't. It is a hunter/fisherman's paradise. I don't recommend the food anywhere, unless you like fudge and ice cream.

« Decent place to stay, if you get a good price »

Because of my Diamond status, I received an upgrade to Jacuzzi room, which was very clean (and it is not that easy for it in Mackinaw City hotels, believe me!) and had good quality furniture. Staff was OK, but they tried to have me pay higher price than what I reserved - so have your reservation with you in print, just in case... Breakfast a very typical (poorer) quality like for a cheaper hotel, but the view from the eatery windows was great!

« an excellent hotel with a nice view »

We stayed here at the end of October(23,24th) and were happy with our room. Clean and in nice shape. large breakfast area in the morning. great location to downtown. staff was very friendly. We will definitely be putting this at the top of our places to stay as we visit a few times every year.

    « Nice room - disappointing breakfast. »

We had a lakefront room on the main floor. It was quiet even tough the hotel seemed to be sold out. Beds & pillows were great! The breakfast the next morning was just okay. The coffee was horrible. I should have just made toast. Staff was friendly even with being very busy upon check in.

    « HORRIBLE MANAGER! »

I've read many Trip Advisor reviews throughout the years and depend on ratings and traveller reviews to plan my vacations, like many do. My spouse and I were excited to visit Mackinaw City for a week and enjoy our end of summer vacation. We booked our reservation with the Best Western Dockside Inn back in May of 2015, anticipating our vacation for the end of August. After a 7 hour road trip to Mackinaw City, we arrived at the Best Western. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk notified us that we did not have a reservation and that the hotel was full. After showing her our confirmed reservation, she persisted that we were wrong and we'd have to find other accommodations. Shortly after, another, more helpful woman found our reservation and told us that they tried calling us because of a credit card problem (which was false on both accounts). Not only did we not receive any phone calls, but they gave our room away, which was quite frustrating. Tired and frustrated, we asked to speak with the manager, Anna, who was conveniently not there. After finding alternative accommodations, we went back to the Best Western to speak with Anna, who again was not professional at all. After keeping us waiting in the lobby for over 20 minutes, Anna came out and began loudly blaming us in front of several other guests. She did not take any responsibility for the mix up, and made us feel humiliated for something that was not our fault. Instead of calmly resolving the mishap like we had suggested, Anna yelled at us for several minutes, continually blaming us for everything. At this point, feeling like we were getting nowhere and exhausted, we decided to calmly ask Anna for her full name and the name of the woman at the front desk who treated us very rudely. Our intention was a file a complaint with Best Western and find a better resolution that Anna was not willing to provide. After asking her for the names, she then very loudly threatened to call the police on us! My spouse, being a Police Officer himself, was particularly offended by this threat. Not only was this ridiculous, but she completely embarrassed herself. Her lack of customer service was absolutely horrific and distasteful. Honestly, my spouse and I aren't even certain how someone like Anna was even hired to work as a manager. Her actions towards us were disgusting. I would NEVER recommend staying at this hotel. Being an a avid traveller, I have become accustomed to good customer service, which is something we did not receive at the Best Western Dockside Inn. Anna was completely unprofessional and should never work somewhere where she utilizes communication with others.

    « Homecoming »

This is the third year in a row that we have chosen this hotel for our Fall trip, and once again we were VERY pleased with our accommodations! The room we were given was clean and comforting. The breakfast bar had many choices, and the hours were such that even my wife, who likes to sleep in, was able to enjoy the breakfast.

« Outstanding value during late season »

Some of the motels in Mackinaw City are closed in October, but the BW is open and is CHEAP for a 4+ star motel. Room rates are about $59-$79 and full hot breakfast is included. Motel is within walking distance to all boats and downtown.

    « Highly recommend »

My husband and I highly recommend this hotel. The room was great - large with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, housekeeping very detailed. Good internet reception in room. Front desk was friendly and informative. We will stay here again on our next trip to Mackinaw City.

    « Fabulous fall visit! »

So many excellent features at a great price! Our first fall trip there as we usually go in the summer. Room was amazing with a spectacular view. Never had to notify the office of any concerns. Breakfast bar had something for everyone and was always stocked. Staff keep breakfast room clean and organized. Pool and hot tub very clean and towels always available. Loved having hot water in the lobby so I could have mine nightly tea. Close to ferry and downtown area. We always walked! Highly recommend.

    « Seasons End Trip »

My wife and I were very impressed with the room and the beds that we had at the price we were able to get it for. I would stay here again but I would do it in the summer instead of the fall as the breakfast room was too cold. Other than that the breakfast was good.

    « Great Mackinaw Retreat »

We have been going to Mackinaw for a few days at a time for about ten years and now primarily go in the fall. Cannot beat the price, location and cleanliness of the Best Western Dockside in Mackinaw. We switched to the Best Western about 3 years ago. The heater was awesome as the temperature dropped to below 40 degrees. The pool/hot tub area was warm and clean. The lakeside room has a terrific view and was spotless. Just make sure if you check online for rates first and are a AAA member, that you write the price down when calling. This year when I first made reservations, the person quoted me a price and after asking about AAA, she claimed it was the AAA rate. Why would she have given me the AAA rate already without my saying? So, I had to call back after re-checking the website and another person gave me the proper rate without question. That made me a little suspicious, but the problem was solved and I like the hotel too much to make it a reason not to go back.

« Nice facility in a great location »

Nice hotel right on whe water. All rooms have balconies or patios. About a 4 block walk to the central tourist area of Mackinaw City full of restaurants, shops, and bars. All rooms open to an outside corridor not an indoor hallway. This can make the walk to the indoor pool interesting when the temperature drops into the 30's as it did the night of our stay. Be forewarned. Breakfast fare is the standard stuff: scrambled eggs, waffle maker, yogurt, bagels, etc. Breakfast area is probably the best I have ever experienced. Very open and roomy located on the 3rd floor above the lobby. Overall a good choice.

« Room was nice, staff was just ok »

We were lucky enough to stay here before they raised the prices for end of season and weekend. We paid $99 (tax included) for a jacuzzi king Courtside room and the room was great. The decor and TV were nice and the jacuzzi was awesome! The room was very clean and quiet and the bed (memory foam) was quite comfortable. The staff wasn't very customer oriented... I tried to ask a question or two and they were constantly interrupting me. I would encourage this hotel to train their employees because if they were good, they would get more 5 star reviews! We did not use the pool or have breakfast, but wheat we did experience was great.

« Basic hotel, but room cleanliness needs some work »

I stayed for one night in October 2015 with a group. The property appeared well-run, although the lobby staff seemed to have some communication challenges. The price was fair, and the hotel is well-located. Rooms were just basic, but ours had an unpleasant smell. The bedding particularly had a strong and irritating odor, perhaps some disinfectant? Sleeping was difficult due to the overpowering smell. Breakfast was surprising well-done and pleasant. Overall, I would not stay there again, considering much better hotels in the area.

« I love this hotel in Mackinaw City »

I have stayed here a few times over the last few years.. I really enjoy and love this hotel.. Very friendly people working at this hotel. Beach area is very nice. Food is good.. Beds are nice. I really appreciate the fact that once due to illness I had to cancel a reservation and the staff treated me very kind and understanding. I will come back to this hotel as many times as I come and bring my family to Mackinaw City.

    « Nice stay »

We enjoyed the Best Western for a one night stay. We didn't use any of the amenities except the breakfast that was part of the price. The breakfast was nice. The rooms were very nicely decorated and pleasant. We didn't do much other than sleep because we had come in late and had to leave early. But everything looked very nice for an extended stay.

The price was right and staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and well kept and the bed was amazingly comfortable! The location was perfect for walking to area attractions and great choice of restaurants. The breakfast included an excellent variety of hot AND cold foods, some healthy for health conscious people. Will definitely stay here again.
