    « Lostwithiel break. »

HAd a lovely few days touring around the old haunts. Restormel Lodge was comfy clean and the staff lovely especially the waiting staff. one problem, but put right straight away without hassle. The Chef is great and we had meals at the hotel every evening, well cooked and we enjoyed them. We are just working out when we can visit again but not that room because during the hot spell we were enjoying the room was sooooo..... warm. Cannot win them all I suppose, thank you staff for a lovely few days, the Richards will return. Room 9 nexdt time though please. xxx

« 4 day rtrip to visit friends in Lostwithiel »

Very enjoyable and relaxing stay, rooms very clean and staff very friendly. Very nice breakfast. Location excellent for visiting nearby locations such as the Eden Project, Fowey, Mevagissey, Charlestown.

    « Pleasant Stopover »

Friendly staff, clean fresh bedroom, plenty of parking, close to centre of Lostwithiel. Car park signs a little confusing as to where car parks were/how to access. Suggest you pick go left or right but not both.

« An ideal hotel for exploring the many attractions and countryside in this beautiful county. »

We requested a room with an walk in shower and this was arranged in a newly refurbished room on the first floor accessed via a short flight of stairs. This was arranged following a telephone conversation with the helpful receptionist made by her to check with us that the room would be satisfactory. It overlooked the garden and car park giving us a quiet stay without traffic noise. The only slight problem was the lack of air conditioning in the room which meant that it became very hot following afternoon sun but this could not be helped without major rebuilding work.

    « Lostwithiel Break »

Good location. Nice rooms, very good food and good parking in a very built up area where parking is at a premium. Helpful friendly staff who always had a smile! My only beef was the becoming increasingly standard firm pillows which were so uncomfortable due to an old neck injury that I didn't sleep well. The moral is to probably take my pillows with me in future. However it did not prevent my enjoyment of my break. The weather was good and everywhere we wanted to go(ieHeligan) etc was a short drive, the local quaint shops were lovely and I would definitely return plus pillows!

    « Nice hotel »

Good choice to visit Landhydrock and Heligan. Room good size but bathroom smelt musty. Adequate parking Breakfast Ok , but why serve horrible choice of cheap factory packets of jam and marmalade , for a decent hotel quality, homemade if possible , jam and marmalade are a must. They served cornish butter so why not cornish made preserves and honey? Shame as food otherwise was Ok. And the toaster was a joke, it took 3 runs through it to get bread brown!!

« Good comfortable hotel lacked air conditioning in hot weather enjoyable stay. »

The meals were excellent and the wine list was very acceptable. all were served with politeness , a smile ,and knowledge of the menu. Very nice rooms set in a old Cornish town with plenty of shops and activities to keep you occupied. We would certainly stey there again.

    « Lostwithiel stay »

Just spent 4 days at this hotel. First, it is situated in an ideal spot to visit many of the sites around Cornwall. Secondly the staff are marvellous, from the reception to chef, diningroom staff, and cleaners, nothing was too much trouble and everywhere was clean and well presented. Thirdly the food was wonderful and plenty of it, not only in the restaurant but bar food as well. All in all first rate hotel

This was a late birthday treat for my husband and our 51st wedding anniversary. We hit gold. The hotel is in a very nice setting, our room overlooked the rear garden, it was perfect. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The food was fantastic, and cooked just as requested, the portions are large so think before ordering more than one course.

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed 3 nights on Groupon Deal. Nice rooms, everything you needed. Lovely comfy beds. All nice and clean. Went to shut window at night and found the hinge was broken, so it was jammed open. Told reception and they had someone look at it next day, but it needed a whole new window, so when we returned we had a big gap at top of window also. We were told it was safe, but it was a shame as it was a little noisey , glad it wasn't a really cold night !! Breakfast was buffet style. Bacon and potato fritters were too hard, but the rest was ok. Lovely sausages, but my husbands had a tiny bone in it. Oh dear. Was dissapointed that pool wasn't open, shut for maintaince. Rooms were on outside of main hotel. Nice and easy from overflow car park into your room, no need to go into hotel at all. Wifi kept going on and off and they give you the wrong wifi info on welcome pac. So I had to go to reception to get it. Was a nice stay apart from the odd probs.

    « A Cornish gem. »

We postponed our annual leave until the cheaper after school holidays period. I am so glad we did otherwise we might have missed this absolute gem of a hotel. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. On a couple of occasions people were late for breakfast but the chef cooked theirs to order without complaint or bad comment. The toaster is a little quirky, to get really dark toast you have to feed it through 3 times, but this gives you time to converse with fellow guests. The breakfast was buffet style and other items could be ordered without extra charge such as veggie sausages, poached eggs and scrambled eggs. The evening menu had a good range of choices and was well priced. The food was well presented and was tasty. The hotel is clean and well looked after. A really good and relaxing time was had by all. Well done.

    « Cornwall trip »

We have just spent four days visiting around Cornwall we stayed here it's a Nice clean hotel friendly staff and great food ideal hotel for touring Cornwall we were given an easy access room with walk in shower and large comfortable bed ( unfortunately the swimming pool was out of order ) but would stay here again

« Good value, great location »

Last minute break to Cornwall, brilliant location for Fowey, great beaches 10 minutes away and added bonus a nice heated pool, well maintained, certainly kept the children entertained after a days site seeing! Excellent breakfasts, with good dietary/vegetarian alternatives. Staff really helpful. Highly recommended, would love to come back!

    « Small rooms, expensive »

I stayed here for 1 night during a business trip. The room I got was small and the price was very high (121£). I can understand it is high season in August but the price is just to hight for the room you're getting. Nevertheless the rooms were clean and had everything you need.

« Lovely staff, beautiful food »

We stayed at the hotel for the August bank holiday weekend, upon arrival I explained that I was disabled and the receptionist quickly changed my room to a ground floor, walk in shower room without any fuss whatsoever. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night mainly due to convenience as we arrived in Cornwall at 8.20am, we were sooo tired and the food was fab, too much to eat!, On Sunday after a morning at The Eden Project and an afternoon sightseeing we returned to the hotel and had a swim (more like a bob in my case) in the hotel pool which was warm and sheltered. We left after another fab breakfast on Monday and travelled the north Cornish Coast to Padstow, fish and chips at Rick Stein`s. The hotel staff were bright and cheery full of information and wished us well on our departure. Well done to all who made our stay enjoyable.

    « A heated outdoor pool! »

Lovely place, room very quiet, bed very comfortable, staff warm and friendly, breakfast all good quality, a well lit and spacious restaurant, convenient off street parking, look forward to another visit next year. Oh, and a heated outdoor pool of good depth and design, lovely!

    3
    « Not too bad »

Stayed there for three nights. As we had a dog we were put in the older tired rooms which face onto the car park. They have seen better days. The breakfast actually decent for a buffet style and faces onto the pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar is out of a ferry and lacks charm. But as a jumping off point to visit the area it's well worth considering.

    « 2 Night stay »

Hotel is very nice, outdoor swimming pool is heated and a really nice bonus, breakfast always being topped up with fresh food which was all very nice, staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful too. Room was a good size and was nicely decorated. We will definitely be back.

« Nice hotel, great hospitality »

We came on a weekend for one night. We checked in really late, but the reception desk was manned, thankfully. The only gripe was that we had requested a room for our pet dog and we hadn't received a response from them in time before arrival, so we had to arrange things at check in. There was ample parking available, as this hotel has a main car park, and then an overflow one for a total of two parking lots. Staff were very gracious and even provided free milk from their kitchen for a little one, which was very much appreciated. Morning dining staff were great as well. We didn't stay for breakfast, but whilst we were waiting for the morning milk, I observed them to be very professional and quite attentive to the guests that were dining in for the morning brunch. We didn't utilise the outdoor pool that was there, but the water looked to be quite clean and the pool area itself looked to be quite well maintained. A good stay; I would recommend this hotel.

    « No hot water!!! »

Stayed in a family suite which was fairly cramped and seemed a little damp. We arrived late one evening visited the eden project the very next day before leaving early on the following day. We did not enjoy a hot shower on any of the three occasions we showered and my grandaughter was in tears with the freezing shower one evening. Both hot and cold breakfast was very good and tasty and the breakfast staff very organised. At £10 per head for adults and £5 for children I would have expected it to be. Strangely these prices, however, are only available if you prebook the night before!! Would definitely NOT revisit and suggest when booking that you agree a non payment clause if no hot water. This might get the management to overhaul the boiler etc. The fact that they were fully booked with a great many showering so water had run out is a feeble excuse.

    « 5 star without a doubt »

This hotel was of a very high standard . The staff were very warm and welcoming , and the service was of high standard . Would definitely recommend this place . The rooms were very clean , and we're supplied with plenty of tea and coffee . Ironing board and hairdryer located in the room .

« A big thank you from South Africa »

The staff were so helpful. On arrival they were fully booked and Simon looked for a place for us in Plymouth. The lady there was kind enough to book us in on internet. We returned the following evening. Such a welcome and so friendly. The room was superb. Bed comfortable and bathroom squeaky clean. The breakfast was a very good buffet and main breakfast was ordered with tea or coffee. How it only got 3 stars is beyond me. Overall the best hotel we stayed in while travelling for 3 weeks. Thank you so much.

    « Nice place »

Stayed for 4 nights as visited a few places around cornwall and also went to eden, the room was fine as was the beds which were comfortable and if needed changed everyday, the bathroom was clean and the shower was very powerful. Tea and coffee and biscuits available and filled everyday so all in worth the money and a stay if your hopping around cornwall. Can't comment on the food as ate out on our travels but did find the staff nice and friendly at all times when spoken too.

    « Lovely weekend getaway »

Jane gave us a very nice garden facing room, the property is small but cosy and has some great views. Its in the small village/town of Lostwithiel with a quick access to the highway. Also great for taking walks in the town and around

« Reasonable stay but a few tweaks could make all the difference »

My Mum, Dad, sister and I Stayed at The Restormel Lodge Hotel a couple of weeks ago for 2 nights while in the area to visit The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan (which are definitely worth a visit). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the rooms were clean and a reasonable size (if a little too hot), the staff friendly and helpful (they will sort out discounted tickets for The Eden Project and Lost Gardens for you so you don't have to queue when you get there) and the food in the restaurant tasty (although disappointing that their Cornish cheese selection consisted of cheddar and brie as they'd run out of the actual Cornish cheeses!). There are two ways in which this hotel could be improved. The first is that while the rooms are nicely decorated, the corridors outside the bedrooms look a bit tired and don't give the best first impression when you walk in from the car park. The second is that some of the younger staff, while friendly and helpful, lacked initiative and could probably do with more training and direction For example, at breakfast on our first morning most of the hot and cold buffet selection had run out but despite it being quite early in the breakfast sitting the staff didn't replenish it, so in the end we had to ask them to do this. This wouldn't prevent us from returning if we're ever back in the area; however, it would have made our recent stay that bit more enjoyable and enabled us to give it a 4 star rating so management please take note!

    « Lovely Stay »

Stayed for 2 nights. The place looks tired when you first walk in but the bedroom was lovely, airy, fresh, very clean. Complimentary fruits, biscuits, water and "Tassimo" coffee made a great welcome. The restaurant does not have an extensive menu but the food is absolutely fabulous! Very friendly staff. I would highly recommend this place. It is only 10 minutes away from the Eden Project and 30 minutes from the Lost Garden of Heligan.

    « A lovely comfortable stay »

We stayed for 2 nights here after booking last minute to change from a previous hotel which was uninhabitable! We asked for a cot in the room which was provided along with a lovely baby quilt. The hotel was clean and fresh and a breath of fresh air after the previous one. Room was large and clean, excellent standard of housekeeping. Good selection of teas and coffees etc. Breakfast was good, lots of choice and well stocked. Would definitely stay again.

    3
« Tired and dated but good breakfast »

Stayed here for 2 nights as we travelled down from London to attend a friends wedding. No night manager meant that when we arrived, at midnight, our keys were left at reception in an envelope which is something I've not experienced before. Bedrooms were a good size and ticked all the basics but the lack of any air conditioning meant a very hot and restless nights sleep. Since this room was on the ground floor was not that comfortable with leaving the windows open. However, on plus side, staff were helpful and friendly.

    « Stayed for 6 nights »

Staff was wonderful especially Lyes. Nothing was too much. Food was very good would recommend the hotel very highly would definitely stay again .Car parking at side and back, narrow side roadon right of Hotel.

    « Gilly Courtney »

Greeted by a super enthusiastic receptionist. Very, very quiet bar. Watching the Euro final was like being in a library!! Also closes early, around 10.30. Restaurant was great, delicious food & attentive staff. Lots of stairs as our room was in a separate building. Room was very clean & bed comfortable. Shower was really great!! A great base to use for travelling around to other towns & places of interest.

« Brilliant Hotel with Fantastic Staff »

Stayed for 1 night whilst visiting family and going to the nearby Eden Project (just up the road from this hotel). From check-in to check-out we were very well looked after. Tracey the Front of House Manager was very helpful and friendly at check-in. We booked a dog friendly room and had a lovely surprise when we saw the water and food bowls, dog blanket, treats and doggy bags with a note welcoming our pooch! Never had that in any other hotel. The Deputy General Manager Jane was wonderful, very friendly and approachable and made us feel right at home. We were looked after very well at dinner and breakfast by Lily the Restaurant Supervisor, what a gem she was! Very professional and friendly and always carried a smile on her face. A welcoming face to see in the morning. The food was superb, very well presented and very good value, with plenty of choice. The spicy peanuts on the bar very more-ish. All in all a very good stay, we even used the outdoor pool which was good fun even on a grey english day. We will be back at the next given opportunity, I feel we will become regulars now.

    4
« One night stay, very pleased! »

Firstly I must say the staff were an absolute pleasure, we were greeted at the front desk by the deputy manager and throughout the night she was always on hand for anything. Also the young male member of staff on the bar was very professional and accommodating!! Our room was lovely all be it not newly refurbished, it had everything we needed, the bath was well sized and I didn't feel like a sardine, and a real nice touch was having a fan in the room!! Lastly we set out at 8:45pm to go for some dinner in a nearby restaurant only to be turned away due to them closing at 9, so I phoned the hotel to see if we still had time to eat in the bar, despite the time being 20/30 minutes past food cut off, they still accommodated us and served us a lovely meal, a big thank you to the chef Kieron as the quality was lovely and it wasn't rushed!! Thank you very much for our stay we both enjoyed it a lot!

    3
    « Somewhat spoilt by after-stay problems »

My opinion is somewhat soured by events after we left, so may be somewhat biased. The hotel itself has a pleasant outlook at the back over rolling Cornish hills, although it does sit on the main road through the village of Lostwithiel. There are about 20 rooms in the hotel itself with more rooms in an annex. Our room (one double and one single bed) overlooked the car park (enough for about a dozen cars with further space nearby) with views over the Cornish countryside. It was nicely furnished with a desk and lounge chair and an en-suite bathroom with integral shower. Unfortunately there were a couple of problems. A mysterious clicking noise throughout the night turned out to be the central heating system fighting against the turned-off radiator. The other problem was the wafer-like thickness of the dividing walls so that we were distracted by the couple in the next room talking as well as from the banging of room doors, especially in the early morning when the ?business? customers left the hotel. The breakfast (buffet) was, however, very good with lots of both hot and cold food and a coffee machine for the ?efficiados?, all overlooking the (small) outdoor pool and lounging area. We did not sample either the bar or the restaurant. Checking in was effortless although the (single) receptionist had to be summoned with a bell, which fact later proved to be an irritation when we had to wait over 10 minutes to collect our room key while a booking was taken over the ?phone. The main problem occurred after we left when we discovered that we had left a cable in the room. A ?phone call resulted in it ?being found? but we were told that there would be a charge of £5 for its return, which, upon reflection was pretty petty for an international hotel chain (it transpired that this hotel is run as a franchise, which was a surprise, but might account for the penny-pinching attitude). In the event, the cable that was sent was not ours, so it could not have ?been found? in our room at all and it wasn't until I complained that we had paid for something that we didn't want that our £5 was returned. All in all then, if you are looking for a B&B is this better than a farmhouse-type one and, if so, does it tick all the boxes you would expect if you plumped for a reliable large hotel? That's not for me to answer, but, at least I hope this will give you an idea of what you can expect here.

    3
« Clean, quiet and nice food! »

Room has all what you would want, fan, hairdryer, koffie-thea maker, alarmclock. We where in room 33 not connected to the Hotel itself. Breakfast is buffet and lovely! Lostwhiel is a tiny town, no busses, but a trainstation. No tourist info office! You have to ask at the hoteldesk, for all the info. I spoke to a lady in the pool and she said it was a great temperture.

    4
    « Short break »

Booked a superior double. This did not disappoint room was lovely and bed was comfortable. Only thing missing was air conditioning (there was a fan which we used). Ate our evening meal the first night that was not good and other diners also complained. One man sent his back 3 times. The lady that booked us in was very helpful with tickets to the Eden project.

    4
« Friendly, clean and fine hotel - I would stay again. »

When I first saw the picture of the front of the hotel, I will admit I wasn't sure. However, the friendly greeting at reception, the cleanliness and comfort of the room as well as the good restaurant soon put my concerns to rest.

    4
    « RESTORMEL LODGE, LOSTWITHIEL »

Great family Hotel. Very good atmosphere, welcoming and great value for money. The rooms are well presented and very comfortable. The location is great for a quiet stay or as a base for Cornwall's many great attractions. Highly recommended

    5
« Superb value for families. »

Having booked a family room with bunk beds I was pleasantly surprised to find the bunk beds in a separate, adjoined room, rather than squeezed into the main room as expected. This allowed a bit of space for both my boys and me! This was greatly appreciated. The room was clean and tastefully decorated, as was the bathroom - with added benefit of a nice powerful shower. This was a super find to act as a base to explore this part of cornwall, with the Eden Project and Newquay in easy reach as well as the beaches around St Austell Bay.

    3
    « 2 nIghts to see family. »

Hotel clean beds comfortable..nothing supplied for dogs ....think £12 per night for a dog you that you wouldnt know had been in room was too much.Other Cornish hotel that we stay in supplies blanket ..poo bags ..treats..and food from.kitchen if required.Breakfast not up to much.. 2 ply paper serviettes... were a bit if an insult. Confusion over payment that was taken early by a company called AMERISUITS who we had No Idea who.they were.Overall Nice Hotel ... but not Very Good Value at over £200 for 2 nights! Might stay again not sure.

    4
« A visit to test out their carvery, we live locally so do not actually stay here. »

Having been given vouchers for free carvery meals we visited to investigate. The carvery was excellent with several different meats and lots of vegetables. We were servred good size portions of the meats and were asked if we wanted anymore, the veg was self service so the portion sizes were only limited by the size of the plate. We will return.

« 3 Night stay to visit Cornwall »

Pleasant comfortable hotel spread across 3 sites. Having brought our dog were allocated a large ground floor family room situated conveniently next to one of the car parks. Food was quite good, although portion sizes were overly generous (for us). The deal we obtained for early May was £150 per night B B & Evening meal which was good value. (Internet good, although failed in our room on third day)

    5
    « Very good choice! »

We stayed here for five nights using Lostwithiel as a base to explore Cornwall. The hotel is close to the main routes so traveling around is relatively easy. Lostwithiel is on the railway network if public transport is required. Our room, recently refurbished, was superb. We had booked a deluxe double and this was situated at the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden and upper car park. The room had all the usual "extras" but there was also a coffee making machine, daily fresh fruit and a welcome bag of the chefs home made fudge....delicious! The hotel does have an outdoor swimming pool and a well stocked bar. Breakfast was buffet style and provided more or less everything you might want. The food wasn't cooked to order except on our last morning when there were few guests in residence. We ate at the hotel on some evenings and our only criticism was that the lasagne wasn't particularly tasty and was very dry. However, we were well satisfied with our other choices. Service was generally very good and whilst we don't usually single out individuals ( as there are unseen staff ), we have to say that Jenna( hope her name is spelt correctly!) was particularly helpful. There were absolutely no problems with housekeeping and check in/check out was quick and efficient. Within the hotel is a plentiful supply of information leaflets for Cornwall's many attractions. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

    4
« Good Quality Food and Rooms »

We stayed here on a short break to visit this area of Cornwall and very much enjoyed the stay and also the quaint town of Lostwithiel which really seems to consist of one high road and one or two roads leading from the high road. Well worth a walk round as has some nice shops and pubs and the area by the river is scenic for a built environment. The staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed the bar food selection and breakfasts.

    5
« Fantastic in every way! »

We booked the hotel as we wanted to visit the Eden Project. As a base for there and for the area around St Austal, this hotel is perfect. It is in the process of being refreshed and the owners are obviously investing a great deal to enhance what is already a very comfortable hotel. Breakfast is a full breakfast (as opposed to the limited hot buffet offered by other hotels) with local produce and great flavours. Evening meals are also good value. But better than all of this is the service. Friendly, helpful and always smiling, they went out of their way to assist, even calling up staff who were off shift to help us locate a pregnancy pillow we had lost. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Thank you! Ben

    5
    « peace and quiet »

We booked this hotel as it was central to attractions, as it turned out it was the best choice, the rooms are at the back of the hotel and therefore very quiet, the place had just been refurbished so very nice bathroom and bedroom. Breakfast very nice even though a buffet style all food was freshly cooked and topped up. Staff all very helpful and polite, we would certainly use this hotel again.

    « One night stay »

Good stay, excellent service, had good welcome at reception, good room, excellent supper and comfy bed. Didn't try the pool a little cold. Breakfast was good with excellent service. Overall a good stay I would recommend to anyone else to stay right in the middle of Lostwithiel

    5
    « Good nights stay »

Stayed for one night having driven from Warrington - very welcoming, good dinner , excellent sleep, good breakfast plenty of parking space. Clean and tidy - had a swimming pool but didn't have the opportunity to use it as the weather was very cold

    5
« Lovely stay and excellent restaurant »

This is our fourth stay here - we like it both because of the location and because we can bring our dogs. The dog rooms are a decent size and right next to the car park. Internet speed is good and there is a good sized desk to work on. The breakfast was very nice with a variety of buffet and cooked to order choices. It was nice to be able to have salmon. Dinner was particularly nice - both evenings we had excellent food and it arrived quickly and was a good price. Service was at all times pleasant and professional.

    « Retirement do »

Went her for my dads retirement do which had seated over 32 people. The staff were very helpful and well presented. The food was good and had lots of flavour. The table was well laid and everyone felt relaxed and not pushed by the staff to leave.

    4
    « Short break »

Excellent hotel for break in Cornwall. Central to all of county. April good time to go as all the gardens are full of magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons. Would recommend it and we will certainly visit the hotel in the future.

« A good central place to stay. »

We were on a coach holiday so didn't choose this hotel ourselves, but were very pleased when we were shown our room, it was spotless and very well equipped. The service at meal times was quite slow, but the staff were very pleasant. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

    5
« Big up the food »

Beautiful meal cooked by the chefs, Kieran and Arron and served by amazing attentive waiting and bar staff!! My friend is a vegetarian and talking to the staff they managed to make her an amazing pasta dish to which she loved!!! Would highly recommend to a friend!!

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

We only stayed one night, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms and ensuites. We stayed in the Delux Double and it was to an excellent standard with comfortable kingsize bed, large flatscreen TV, well stocked tea tray, fruit, mineral water, fruit juice and bathrobe and slippers. The ensuite had obviously been recently done to a very high standard and spotlessly clean throughout the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and we had a very good breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay again if in the area and would not hesitate to recommend it.

    4
    « Very nice stay »

We were looking for somewhere to stay following a visit to the Eden Project, this was ideal. The rooms are bright, modern and very clean. The service is very good as was the breakfast. All round good value for money.

« Great place to stay with a dog as we had a door directly to the outside. Evening meal was very nice says the wife! »

Stayed over on way home from Cornwall with wife & dog. Last minute booking looking for dog friendly hotel en route - this fitted the bill nicely and was perfect for our requirements. Would recommend to dog owners.

    « Lovely stay »

We had a lovely stay at The Restormel Lodge for a few days the week after Easter We had such a friendly welcome from the receptionist on our arrival. We were very pleased with our room bright and airy over looking the garden/car park at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and varied once again friendly helpful staff. We would have no hesitation in recommending and certainly hope to stay again - Thank you

    « Value for Money »

A good value for money hotel, clean and tidy, nice breakfast included too. Pet friendly, a good location to pop off to The Eden Project. A nice little town with plenty of places for food etc.including a nice fish and chip shop.

    « Hotel in Lostwithiel »

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel was very clean and our room was well maintained. We had a meal one evening and it was too much for us to eat. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The only thing that let the hotel down was our room wasn't done on one day

« Very comfortable and convenient hotel »

We stay at this hotel regularly as it is convenient for visits to our family living nearby, we could stay in other convenient locations in Lostwithiel, so why stay at the Restormel? Well we are always assured of a friendly welcome, a clean, warm and comfortable room and a hearty breakfast if we so choose. The outdoor swimming pool is useful when the weather is warm and the garden at the back has a lovely view over Lostwithiel. The lounge is comfortable and has a bar. Lostwithiel is a really interesting historical town and is well placed for visits to other parts of Cornwall.

We found the Restormel Lodge very convenient for the weekend conference we had to attend. The service in reception and the restaurant was very welcoming and helpful. And the bed was particularly good -- very comfortable. We will stay here again in the future.

« Looks can be deceiving »

From the outside this hotel looks a bit run down, but actually looks can be deceiving. I stayed for two nights in a double "Deluxe" booking directly on the Best Western website which was offering the top of the range room for the same money as a basic single. The room was very nice, with a spotlessly clean modern bathroom, Freeview HD television, and the usual tea/coffee and in addition a can of Tango and some fruit. Deluxe? well it felt appointed and clean, and comfortable all until you wanted to sleep - the mattress was particularly soggy which meant you felt like you were sleeping on a slope. Being on my own, I slept in the centre which wasn't worn out and hence didn't end up feeling like I was falling out of bed. You could actually see the dips in the mattress. It's worth mentioning that the hot water supply was rather brown in colour from the local water supply, nothing too unusual for the area but filling the bath with a brown soupy liquid for a bath is rather off putting. Breakfast was excellent, all well cooked and the coffee bought to the table was delicious. The hotel has a very small outdoor swimming pool, and an Electric Car charging point. Overall for the price I paid it wasn't bad just shame I didn't sleep very well from the mattress.

« Excellent medium sized hotel in a nice location. We enjoyed our stay there »

We enjoyed staying at this at this hotel, for one night, on the Tuesday after Easter. The Hotel is conveniently located within the picturesque town of Lostwithiel, some of Cornwalls' major attractions are close by. Car parking is plentiful with an overflow car park close by. Checking in, & out, was completed with the minimum of fuss, all the hotel staff were found to be friendly & helpful. Our room (suite) was large, comfortable, quiet, spotlessly clean and modern, as was the bathroom. Restaurant & bar service was excellent, the food, both dinner & the breakfast buffet was good, with local produce, where possible, being used. We stay in many hotels every year, the Restormel Lodge is highly recommended.

    « Family trip »

Stayed at the hotel one night, the room was nice and clean although a little noisy as probably somebody on another room forgot the telly on all night and plus there was a weird noise like a ticking or pounding but I couldn't understand what it was, however nothing major. Lostwithiel is a nice place but not to spend long. Breakfast could be better but did the job. would stay again if passing by.

Stayed here for easter Bank holiday, even took the dog. Excellent facilities and location in a nice little town. The reception staff are very nice and the room was very clean and modern. No faults at all will be back in the summer.

« Excellent food and brilliant location for exploring the area. »

Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent value for money - we had breakfast and dinner included with no restrictions on choice. Our rooms were all very clean and comfortable. Well laid out with everything you need. The location of this hotel is excellent for exploring with many attractions on the doorstep - Lanhydrock, Fowey, Heligan, Eden Project and Lostwithiel itself is a delight. Thank you.

« Fine for what we were looking for. »

We were looking for a reasonable price hotel to stay to see the Eden Projetc. They were flexible with the bookingwhen we suddenly had to change week. Hotel clean and comfy. No problems at all. Handly location to explore. Pubs and restirants in town gave reasonable choice. Would stay again if needed hotel in that area.

« Nice Hotel - Bit Out Of The Way »

This is a pleasant enough hotel with LOVELY STAFF but a slightly tired décor. It is a bot "Off the beaten track" but it would be handy for the EDEN PROJECT. It is, for the standard of hotel, reasonably priced.

« Outstandingly good food and venue »

Don't let the outside appearance deter you from experiencing what we can honestly say has been the best meal we've had in the area for a long time. Can not fault any part of our experience. Staff, excellent, food excellent, surroundings excellent , value for money

    « Fab carvery »

Visited for the first time & enjoyed a very pleasant carvery with 3 courses & a glass of wine as part of a Groupon deal. Staff are very helpful & friendly, special mention to Aaron the carvery chef who was particularly helpful. A nice hotel with good food.

The room was great and very welcoming, as were the staff. From the time that we were welcomed on arrival until the time to leave at the end of the stay the whole experience was tremendous. Will do it again.

« Best Western Restormel Lodge - Lostwithiel »

Nice hotel in a nice location with plenty of parking. Staff are helpful and pleasant. Arrived late in the evening and the check in was speedy. Ate in the restaurant food was ok but I felt it was a little over priced. Wanted to do some work but struggled with the Wifi. The room was nice and I would stay here again but would most probably eat elsewhere.

    « An excellent hotel »

I have been having to go to Bodmin of and on for business for over 2 years now and always stay at this hotel. Even though my client has moved location to further away, I still stay here due to the excellent facilities, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. As a woman travelling for business on her own, it is important to me to feel 'comfortable' in any hotel I stay in (and I stay in a lot!) and would always recommend Restormel Lodge to anyone

« Not bad, but not great »

We stayed here for two nights in February 2016. At this time the hotel was advertised as having been refurbished recently. The room was clean and felt newly done, but the rest of the hotel seemed dated, We understand it is an older building and there is only so much you can do, but it had a very "80's" feel to it, it reminded me of Holiday Inn's 30 years ago, and not the best ones either. We did not eat dinner in the hotel, if breakfast was an indication of meals then we are glad we didn't. The breakfast portions were the smallest I have had in recent years, especially the eggs, (they must have very small hens in Cornwall) but despite the size the quality of produce was really good. The hotel was quiet due to the time of the year, but that is no excuse for a hotel to re-hash the breakfast pastries....lovely and fresh on the Saturday morning with a full tray, but a bit stale on the Sunday with whatever was left over from the day before, would that be an indication of dinner?? All in all this hotel is a place to sleep, not a place to "experience".

    « Excellent Stay »

I stay at the Great Western hotels quite regularly for business purposes I always find the staff very helpful smart and professional The food is always of a very good standard and I have never felt the need to complain about anything The rooms are always clean and tidy and I also enjoy a restful nights sleep There is always a good choice on the breakfast menu and you can have as much as you want the staff seem to be very helpful and will be flexible if you need to eat before the actual times I would have no hesitation at recommending Great Western Hotels

« Great Value and Service »

Excellent 2 night stay - very comfy king size bed, attentive staff, new bathroom and very clean room. Good breakfast. Hotel is on a main road so we were glad to have requested a room at the rear. Just a 2 minute walk from pubs and restaurants in Lostwithiel itself.

« Our First Visit to their Restaurant, did not stay as live locally »

We saw their Restaurant featured on Pirate FM Voucher Shop and bought £50 voucher for £25. We were very impressed by the high quality of food and service offered.. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies and the Chef contacted us to discuss her need and what they could offer and when we visited she was catered for very well. We will return again soon

    « One night stopover. »

My wife and I were totally blown away by the value of this winter stay at this superb friendly hotel while travelling to West Cornwall. In short we received a very warm welcome which continued throughout our short stay. Our room was very comfortable and the dining in experience was most enjoyable. Thanks to Jane and the team, think we will be back next year maybe for a little longer.

    « Brightening up a rainy January »

Our generous student daughter bought us a Groupon voucher for a night's bed and breakfast and we added a second night. We had a really comfy and enjoyable weekend stay. Our room was lovely with a huge bed, TV, tea and fresh coffee making facilities and nice extras like shortbread, fruit, 7Up and bottled water. The en suite bathroom was fresh and beautifully done out and we had nice toiletries provided. Wifi was pretty stable. There was a hairdryer, iron and board...everything we needed for a comfort stay was there. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfasts generous and we ate in the restaurant both nights and had lovely meals..the scallop starter was a bit pricey for the amount served but the quality was excellent, other courses very nicely cooked and, overall, prices were fairly average. Lostwithiel is a pretty town, quiet in January as you might expect, but a good base for visiting the Eden Project, which we enjoyed, and other very lovely little Cornish fishing ports . We would definitely use the hotel again.

« Great Hotel in Lostwithiel Cornwall »

We could not fault this hotel the staff were very helpfull and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.We looked on line was confused by the different prices so we phoned direct and had a much better deal than if we had booked through various internet booking sites. So in future when we use this hotel it will be a direct booking

« Friendly staff and good service »

We recently stayed at the Great western hotel for a local night away, we were greeted by friendly reception staff and quickly checked in. Our room was clean and spacious with tea and coffee. We decided to eat in the hotel as it was easier and we were not disappointed. The young man behind the bar was polite and helpful, we were served promptly and the food was excellent. Very well presented food and tasted lovely. The hotel itself could do with some work done on it as the roof was leaking in the restaurant and by reception but this did not put us off. Breakfast again was lovely and service prompt. We would definitely return.

An excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff Rooms comfortable and warm and standard of cleanliness excellent. Very quiet room and we both slept longer than usual. Breakfast excellent and being more a fish eater I enjoyed the smoked haddock which was cooked well. My husband ate the full English and again this was excellent. We enjoyed the evening meals in the restaurant and one in the bar area.

« Has a nice reticent feel to it. »

I stayed here with my family for a night while we where travelling and i felt welcome before we even reached the reception desk. The staff where perfect. The barman was very kind and friendly he even brought over the tv remote for us in the sitting area. Obviously he must have sensed that we couldn't take anymore East 17 Christmas songs on music channel. Although it is a Best Western and because of that you might think of the hotel as well... owned by a big company with a massive chain of hotels so everything will be standard issue and have a clone sort of repetitive feel to it. However that was not the case at all. It was very unique, the Christmas decorations where beautiful and it had a very family owned and orientated feel to it while keeping a modest cosy vibe. The room was spotless. My sincerest thank's to the cleaners, receptionist's, barman and the manager for keeping very high standards.

Stayed Saturday 19th December after a long drive. Rooms were immaculate and the service was amazing. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this one ranks up near the top. The price was very cheap so didn't know what to expect but I couldn't say one bad word. The food was delicious the bar and restaurant service was excellent. Has a large car park, outdoor pool, comfortable seats at the bar with fireplace and a hot buffet breakfast included in the price.

    « Cornish holiday »

This is a clean, comfortable and well-run hotel with very pleasant, attentive staff. There is ample parking space and good disabled access. Breakfasts are excellent and the dinners are well-cooked and presented, though there are too few choices on the winter menu. Drinks are pricey, and the wine list requires uprating.

The whole experience from booking, checking in, the caring polite members of staff working as a team, the food quality and service at both the evening meal and breakfast absolutely faultless, comfortable bed and good clean on suite facilities right through to checking out. Most definitely will stay here again when next in Cornwall and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing a good stay business or pleasure alike

We were a party of 30 adults and were treated very well indeed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. The staff were very accomodating, friendly, helpful. The evening meal was changed every night, making our decisions after breakfast which was a good English meal that set us up for the day

« Good location for visiting North Cornwall »

This is a nice hotel, clean and well maintained. The staff a friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good with lots of choice, but the evening meal has a limited choice and can be a bit pricey. We tend to go out during the day and eat out so we book bed and breakfast. We have now stayed at this hotel 3 times while visiting Cornwall.

Overall the stay offered good value in a lovely area of Cornwall. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful if you asked. I would stay here again if I was in the area. « a convenient stopover »

Room 29 was clean and comfortable but being at the front of the hotel at the bottom of the extremely steep hill we had to suffer all traffic noise. Obviously being a Best Western Hotels member didn't make any difference to choice of rooms for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Next time we visit we will ask for a better room at the rear of the hotel

« Good hotel for exploring the area »

We came back here after excellent stay last year to explore the areas we missed, unfortunately standards had slipped. We booked a superior room, which had large King size bed, fantastic walk in wet room, fantastic power shower and good quality toiletries, room excellent. We booked a meal in the restaurant on our first night, we had a drink in the bar before dinner, where the service was awful, barman preferred to talk to others than serve. We then ordered wine with the meal, and the bottle was just plonked on table with screw cap on, not what you would expect in a hotel like this. We both ordered the breast of duck which was very tough. Breakfast was buffet style but our cooked was lukewarm. Hotel is right in town so there are plenty of other places to eat and drink if you prefer. Also good walks around the area from the hotel. Wi-fi was very good !

    « wedding party »

Last year we were in Cornwall looking for a hotel that could hold a wedding reception for us as we had decided to get married at Carnglaze Caverns This was the 3rd hotel on our list and we thought it would turn out to be out of our price range. However we arranged to meet the manager Simon on one of our visits to Cornwall and we explained what we were looking for. He showed us around the hotel and we were impressed with the look of the rooms and of the hotel in general. The staff were all kind and extremely helpful. After doing some sums Simon came back to us with a really good price for a 2 night stay with breakfast on the wedding morning, a wedding reception dinner and a wedding breakfast on the morning after. From the point we said yes to him until we left after the actual event the hotel bent over backwards to help in any way possible. We are not local to the hotel and would be traveling from Hampshire so everything was done via phone calls, e-mail and the odd visit when we were down to sort other parts of the wedding out. We had 35 people to our reception, in 15 rooms. When we asked about menu choices Simon told us that it was our day and that we could have whatever we wanted. He asked us to pick 3 starters, mains and deserts and then let him know what we wanted. He then made up a menu for us and sent it via e-mail for our approval. He also offered to find wedding car hire, flowers and anything else we may require. The hotel was always on the end of the phone and sorted out any problems the moment they came up so that by the time we all started to arrive for the actual event everything was ready. He had even gone as far as letting other guest know that the main dining room would be closed for a private function on the wedding night so that we could have it to ourselves. (meals were still available in the bar area for other guests) This was something we had not asked for but shows the level of thought that had gone into it on the hotels part. All of our rooms were immaculate and the suite we had was big enough for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in. They have family rooms as well for those with children and rooms that allow you to bring your dogs. We had the wedding dinner table laid out the way we wanted and the food cooked on the night was first class. We were given a complementary bottle of champagne at the table and some of the little extras that were done to the food to make it extra special were fantastic. When it came to checkout we did have a small issue with the bill, where we had paid for the rooms in a room by room basis there had been a slight muddle up with the 2 rooms left to pay. However this was soon sorted out and the mistake was quickly found. To me the way a problem is handled is just as important as when everything goes right. All in all i cannot fault this hotel, or its staff. From the lady that cleaned our room, all the way to the manager himself. I wish more businesses were run this way and i cannot thank them enough for making our stay, and our wedding the perfect event it was. Thank you.. Simon & Lesley

    « A cozy and friendly place »

This hotel is located in the charming village of Lostwithiel. I recommend the overflow car park which is easier to get in and out of than the main car park. We were struck be the friendly service at all times. Some of the corridors could do with sprucing up, but our room was faultless and the bathroom exceeded expectations by a long way! The hotel bar is an interesting shape and the restaurant pleasant.

« 7 night stay at the Best Western Restormel Hotel »

Just had a weeks holiday in Cornwall and stayed at the Best Western Restormel Hotel located in the town of Lostwithiel. The hotel is ideally situated for touring around Cornwall being located on the A390 with the Eden project and Lanyhydrock only being a couple of miles away. The town is steeped in history and has a museum and castle to visit. We stayed in room 37 in an annex away from the main hotel building it was very quite, was comfortable and had everything we needed. The restaurant food was of good quality well cooked and nicely presented. Staff were friendly and tried to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. If I return to Cornwall I would stay at this hotel again.

« Not the best Best Western... But... »

A bit tired this hotel.. Having used Best Western many times this one is better than it looks! Ideal for Eden project and surrounding area Don't use the bar as it is expensive, use the really nice pub down the road(mentioned to staff) Do pre book the restaurant as it is really good value and much cheaper!
