    « Best WEstern frankenmuth/Birch Run - Just Average »

We stayed at this Bet Western for four nights while visiting Frankenmuth. It is a 10 minute ride into Frankenmuth which was fine. The staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient. However, there was no "peep hole" in the room door for security - no cover on the ice bucket for cleanliness - the breakfast food was very average and the plastic "silverware" was cheap. The appearance of the hotel was fine. Would not stay there again although they are beginning to remodel which might help.

    1
    « False advertising »

We booked our reservation online at the Best Western website. They said this location was newly renovated and had pictures of a beautiful motel. I don't know where that was, it sure wasn't this one. This location is under full renovation. Large construction equipment tearing down wings of the motel. The only landscaping was a little around the office. Our entrance was dirt and mud with garbage bags piled up. We felt very ripped off. And with a prepaid rate, we were kinda stuck there.

    2
« Looked better on the website »

When we made our reservations, we were told it was a newly renovated property. Didn't know it was still in the middle of construction. Might be a nicer property when construction is complete. The room is decorated okay and has a decent appearance. However, I think the mattresses are older and the bathroom floor was full of the previous guest's hair... nasty!! The room is an interior entrance, but the door to the outside has no lock or security measures... anyone can walk into the hallways. Disappointing because we generally have good luck with Best Western properties. We will not stay here again.

« Stayed here after car meet in frankenmuth »

Hotel staff was very friendly. Room was clean breakfast was good for free. Only downside was pool was a little green but hot tub was great. Probably stay her next fall again. Only half mile or so to birch run outlet malls.

    3
« great food in bar »

was okay, but internet did not work the whole 4 days we were there, construction was going on outside our room, so could nap if we wanted too (no effort was made to change our room) The staff at the bar were great, as were the cleaning staff.

    4
    « Great Location! »

The Birch Run Best Western Hotel is located right near the Birch Run Outlets, and only a 10 minute drive to Frankenmuth. The rooms are clean, staff was friendly, and the breakfast was included each morning! The Hotel is undergoing some updates, such as a new elevator. That would be wonderful if you are staying on the second floor as we did. The hotel was not noisy, which made our stay there perfect.

    4
    « Best Western Experience »

Easy to book a room. Rates a little high, Staff very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. Comfortable, clean room, good night sleep. Location of hotel was in a good area. Plenty of food options surrounding hotel..

    4
    « Ok »

Was decent but should list as under construction so there are no surprises. Staff very friendly food was good. Tons were clean. Right on par with what we expected except once the construction reasonably priced

    4
    « Very Nice »

This hotel even though it is being remodeled is in very nice condition, the rooms were very nice and the beds were very comfortable. They have 1 evening staff female that goes out of her way to make you feel at home, she is wonderful.

    2
    « Very Disappointed »

Sorely disappointed in the quality of our room for this night. Hotel staff and food was excellent. They are in the process of upgrading the hotel but unfortunately we were put in the old part and the room was not what we expected for Best Western

    « Making Progess »

Presently under renovation. If they continue redoing to lobby, bar and dining room, pool and breakfast area as they have the rooms and are doing the exterior front, it will be a nice facility. We have stayed here many times over the years and it has always been satisfactory but now it is improving. The breakfast was a mixed bag. The hot food was very good, especially the O'Brien potatoes instead of the usual soggy hash browns, but the little things have and continue to be missing; peanut butter, cream cheese, and sugar free syrup are examples..

My husband and I took a Trip to this Best Western for Labor Day weekend. Had a outstanding time at Best Western folks where Awesome to us and the place was Awesome! Would come again. Went on to Frankenmuth, Michigan and went on a outstanding River boat ride cruise> It was a awesome ride with my huband. This was a early 51 anniversary get away. We stopped at the Chicken place and had a great meal! Then went shopping and got some Fudge at one of the shops. Also stopped at the clock shop in Frankenmuth. It was nice getting away and seeing all the wonderful things there. Then we went back to Birch Run and went shopping at Birch Run. So many shopps there! Went to a Baptist Church in Birch Run. Hope this could be trip for you all!

« nice for the price »

Lots of construction going on...good price for the room... $20 for a Pet wasn't to happy about that Red roof offers free pet stays ,,internet need some major improving. Great breakfast.....nice indoor pool.

    4
    « Great Customer Service »

We booked on Priceline and were pleasantly surprised. Room was clean and the staff was extremely helpful and answered all questions during check in. The restaurant is more of a lobby bar, but the food was very good.

    4
    « good »

was satisfied with the service and the food was good . The room was clean and was close to the pool . The face of the building is nice and the flowers around the front of the room are beautiful. was easy to connect to the internet .

« Great Service, Great Stay, Convenient Location »

We loved this hotel. Even though it's under renovation, it was quiet, everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was great. Staff were extremely helpful, and we'd definitely stay again. We were in the main building, which was nice, so I'd recommend requesting that.

    2
    « Don't Stay with Kids! »

The rooms were ok... but we had an "upgraded room" and it was nothing to get excited about. We had stayed in another hotel in Chicago on the way to this one and it was much less expensive and a LOT nicer. We were given a courtyard room, but at one point you couldn't even open the door to the courtyard because the marijuana fog was so intense that you could barely breathe outside. When we first arrived, I noticed the smell of marijuana in the hall but wasn't positive, so i let it go. Then the courtyard incident confirmed what was going on. We stayed 3 nights. Our room wasn't cleaned on the second day. The third day it was cleaned at around 5:00pm. Both the second and third day we came back from being out with our hands full of stuff ready to get into our room and our key had been deactivated so some of us had to wait there while the other went to get the key reactivated. It was an ok place to stay, It has potential to be really cute, but I would easily pay more and stay somewhere else next time.

    4
    « Exactly as requested »

When reserving the room I requested a ground floor room with outdoor access. Upon arrival this is precisely what I received. Friendly service, clean room, and a hot shower were also the order of the day.

    5
« My favorite place to stay! »

Hotel staff is amazing. They are under renovations but it did not bother us. I am pleased to see they are updating which means they take pride in there property. I cannot wait to return. It has become my go to area getaway every year. Spotless rooms, bar and grill on site, staff that goes above and beyond. What more could one ask for. We look forward to seeing you all very soon for our early Christmas shopping!

    3
    « Under Construction »

This hotel had obviously just been bought out. There was a lot of re-modelling going on. The rooms were a good size with in room bar fridge and two queen sized beds, one of which you could comfortably sleep on. The morning breakfast was all over the place, waffles and cereal at one place hot food around the corner and coffee over by the front desk. Everything tasted very salty. The staff were being trained but quite polite.Everyone greeted you with a smile and good morning but directions were very confusing.

« Average place to stay! »

This is an average place to stay. The staff was extremely friendly. The rooms were average clean. They could use a deep cleaning!! Under the bathroom sink and such, need a scrubbing. The only thing that was extremely bad....their internet service! We had a hard time getting a good connection, and would lose it midway through playing online! If they want to be competitive with other places, a good internet service is a must! But....the pool was really warm, which surprised us!

    5
    « Great stay »

This is one of the most enjoyable stays in many years travel., The staff is one of the friendliest I have encountered. Nice remodeled rooms and the food was great. Located convientely of the interstate. Would have to rate a 5 star

    3
« Full Disclosure when Booking a Room »

I wish the front desk would have notified me that the elevators were not working when I reserved the room. If you have trouble negotiating stairs due to health reasons, this is something you would like to know.

    2
    « Old tired hotel »

Very large 2 story hotel. Older and tired motel that is undergoing some renovations but has a lot to go. Tried to check in 2 hours before official check in and was assigned to 2 different rooms that were not made up. An hour later the manager finally walked with me to a THIRD room to make sure it was made up. Pool and spa but spa jets not working. Fireplace lounge serves drinks and doubles as breakfast. Breakfast had typical items but no fresh fruit. Old carpets in room and hallways. Although the price was really low, I guess you do get what you pay for. I would not stay here again.

    3
    « Under renovations »

We had stayed here years ago when it was The Market Street Inn & The Exit Restaurant was part of the complex. Now the restaurant is under new management & different cuisine. They are upgrading the hotel to a 'Plus' but I'm not sure what improvements they are making. We stayed here 2 years ago & other than exterior painting (ongoing) & a newer section connected to the original building near the pool it is about the same. There are still several other blocks of units not attached & the pool is still the same (quite small). The breakfast area hasn't changed & the menu is the same as always. We got a room in the new building. It is clean & comfortable. The beds are very good & the bathroom is ok with the sink area outside in the room. My biggest complain & this goes for many hotels. The room designers (architects) placement of the toilet rolls make reaching them so difficult. One has to be either a contortionist or arms like a basketball player to reach them. As one gets older this creates a real issue. The hotel rate was very good for the time being. The staff is friendly & we would stay here in the future depending on how much the rate increases once the upgrades are completed.

    2
« Not very clean and renovations everywhere! »

Our private balcony was not cleaned from previous guests. Cigarette butts and cans left behind. Room and buildings could be cleaner. Renovations everywhere! Not just the arcade and weight room as listed on site. Outside doors other than main lobby not secured, anyone can walk in. I will be choosing a different hotel next time.

    2
    « Under construction »

We arrived and thought we must be in the wrong place due to construction - entrances boarded up, front all dug up, dumpster. Inside was only slightly better. This was far more extensive than what was on their website that seemed to down play renovations. We supposedly had a new room, but doors didn't close without force, both room door and bathroom. The walk in shower flooded the bdthroom. There one desk chair or sit on the bed (not that there wasn't room that had been given over to entryway and sink), when a comfortable would have been a good addition (especially as one of the new room). The parking lot lights shone directly into the room. The hot tub had weak jets and sand in the bottom, as well the ramp to it was very slippery - after all people will have wet feet. The breakfast was below par, beginning with being broken up between 3 different area, the eggs and hashbrown lukewarm at best and to get tea I had to find someone (not an easy task) to ask for hot water. The renovations are obviously needed, this is an old motel that they are trying to give new life, but staying in a construction site was not what were looking for and would have appreciate a more honest disclaimer.

« Great Place and Great Value »

We chose Best Western at Birch Run to be close to Frankenmuth and also close to shopping at Birch Run. Best Western offers great value as well as being a great place to choose for these areas. We have stayed here on previous occasions and plan to return again in the future.

    2
« Last minute trip, one night stop »

We were on the way to chicago for the weekend and made a stop in Michigan to stay close to the outlet mall. Our first impression wasn't very good with the hotel. The reception: When we arrived (although late), there was nobody present at reception. There was no sign to indicate whether or when they were coming back. Other people started to arrive or need to request something from reception and we were all puzzled as to why there was no one there, it was about a 5-10imute wait. When we were finally able to check in, we were told we would be getting a newly renovated room - but warned about some finishings that may not be complete. Otherwise it was pretty painless check in and they were pleasant and apologetic for the wait when they returned. The room: 1. I didn't mind the design of the room itself. The sink was outside the bathroom (personally for me I found convenient). The bathroom had a toilet and stand up shower. The bathroom itself had those ceiling tiles which didn't make a lot of sense to me being in the bathroom as it would surely absorb moisture and odour. To make matters worse, it smelt like cigarette smoke or some kind of smoke which made this non smoking room a smoke scented one. I had to call reception to inform them of this as we had to leave our credit card info if we violated this rule. They didn't offer to change our room but we also didn't ask because we were only staying one night and it was late already. 2. The finishing issues they spoke of for the new room - I wasn't really aware of any until I stepped on a nail strip that protruded from the carpet where the tile and carpet met. It was shallow and the carpet buffered the nails but it was definitely noticeable hazard that would cause potential injury to the guests if they were any heavier or had a heavy foot while walking barefoot/socked. 3. The fridge that was in the room had a half bottle of wine left in it when we arrived. There was also a used lip gloss under the dresser that didn't belong to us. These issues make us question their housekeeping thoroughness. 4. The mattress appeared to be new. I hope the sheets were too but I don't want to think about it. The room air-conditioning was good when we turned it on. It was very hot when we arrived as they didn't have it running anticipating our arrival - for eco reasons I get that. The breakfast: It was a typical buffet style breakfast that offered a decent variety. The sausage patties were good, everything else was standard (cereal, fruit muffins, yogurt, coffee, eggs poured from a carton, make your own waffle and toast)... but the hash brown style potatoes (potato match sticks from a bag presumably) were undercooked and chewy. The chef and kitchen staff were polite and friendly though. Overall: For the price, it was actually our most expensive stay compared to the rest of our trip and it was not worth the amount we paid. My husband expected this level of a hotel being a Best Western and unfortunately this one didn't shake the poor reputation the chain has. We probably wouldn't stay again and are likely to avoid the chain in the future.

    1
    « Last Minute Getaway »

Not impressed, the room wasn't value for the price. Understand they are renovating, but don't imagine they are renovating all the rooms. Very 50's style motel. Tiny bathroom with shower & toilet. Sink on outside. Mattresses were cheap and/or old! Staff weren't the friendliest. Kinda ignored you when trying to make small talk. Won't be back, as its overpriced and not comfortable. ??????

« Best Western our lovely stay »

This is a very nice hotel, employees were nice whenever we saw them. Room was very clean, beds nice. Has swimming pool, did not use, hot tub, that was very relaxing. Ate dinner in the lounge, food was very tasty. Have stayed in other Best Westerns before, Breakfast here had more to offer. We will use this hotel again.

    2
    « Tired Old Hotel »

Although it appears this hotel is undergoing a renovation - we stayed in one of the "new rooms" and were less than impressed. Third floor - no elevator - very disappointing even though we specifically had requested a first floor room for personal reasons.

    3
« Hotel in need of its current remodeling »

The hotel was first of all very clean. Service from staff was very polite and very professional. The hotel is undergoing a much needed upgrade and renovation. Currently, the rooms have a 70's feel to them, and the interior is in dire need of a face lift. Not having a working elevator on the property means if you are on higher levels, you will need to take luggage upstairs with you via stairs. The bed for our room was rock hard and had no give, so hoping new mattresses are part of the upkeep. Avoid ordering food for dinner here as the chicken caesar salad tasted of being microwaved, and breakfast was not very good at all. Location is very good, and easy access to Birch Run and Frankenmuth. The pool area was very nice, and a good perk for the hotel. Hotel rates as average, but with the right renovating, has some potential.

    2
« old motel part / newer front hotel »

this hotel consists of two parts .... the back which is old is the part we stayed in is motel style accomodations and is old and pretty much dingey; the bed was so bad could barely get out of bed in the morning. wife ended up sleeping on the floor. 2nd day we went to the front desk and complained they upgraded the room to the front part which was a nicer room and was a bit dated but a vast improvement over the back and the bed was sleepable on. This is motel hotel that you have to stay in the front, bar and pizza was excellent...one of the best pizzas I think I have ever had. morning buffet had lots on it but was spread out everywhere and only one person to handle things and he could not had to wait for waffle mix, had to wait for juice cups, apple juice out maple syrup out fruit out... all could have been solved by proper staffing.

    5
    « the best place »

the sevrice was excellent and they gave us what we wanted we like rooms outside not in hotel we enjoy sitting outside when we are there and we had no complaints everything was just the way we wanted to be

    5
« Outstanding stay in the middle of a remodel »

This BW is currently being remodeled. When we arrived at the hotel, we noticed the rows of motel rooms with exterior doors and the exterior getting a fresh coat of stucco. The room rate for our room was low enough that we were okay with getting a room here. We checked in and the lobby was shrouded in drop cloths, and the manager told us they were installing an elevator (yippee!). We got our keys and went to our room. What we didn't realize was that the hotel had a wing with INTERIOR rooms - and when we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised to find a room in the quality of BW hotels with a much higher room rate. It was clean, comfortable and newly decorated. The only downer on our stay was that the kitchen person forgot to plug in the waffle irons (delaying our breakfast) and the egg casseroles in the chafing dish were not hot, but I would take that as a one-night issue and it did not diminish the overall quality of our stay. The staff was personable and friendly and that added to a pleasant stay. If you're touring Frankenmuth, stay at this hotel instead of the pricier hotels in the village, and get more goodies at Bronners with the money you save.

    4
    « Good Value »

We stayed one night during the week. Having read reviews, we realized that the hotel was under renovation. Some equipment is visible, and workers were present, but this didn't interfere with our stay. The staff were friendly, and the room was pretty clean. No issues there. Breakfast was average. For what we paid (about $80), and compared to other hotel rates in the area, I feel it was a very good value. Great location also.

    2
    « Not the greatest »

The room was an adjoining room and you could hear your neighbors simply talking or watching TV. Door on outside didn't really work. The bathroom door didn't lock. There was no microwave in the room and the fridge was tiny. The fridge was also missing it's shelf and was under the sink where my dad stubbed his toe multiple times. We were told there was a different wifi network for every room and none of the connections worked. The breakfast was not good, eggs didn't even taste like eggs. The hash browns were so stale that they were barely edible and I found some kind of rubber thing in mine. Would not stay again.

    2
    « Going down hill »

waited 10 mins for someone to show up at the front desk at check in! Check in very slow until the general manager showed up, he was dressed very well but the rest of the staff either looked like Construction workers which did serve me behind the counter? or maintainace people. The only other staff was a tall lanky guy with a suit that was 10 times too big for him, but you could tell he was trying to look his best. We relise the hotel is under some renos but its sad when you cant tell the staff who is who? How about putting out some garden furniture as the place has a fantasic garden were you used to be able to sit and enjoy the outdoors??? BW you need to up your game in this place as there are NO stars in this motel.

    3
« Hotel Comfortable, Desk Clerks Terrible »

Although the hotel, room, and food was good, Desk clerks were unfriendly and did not give necessary information. They did not follow instructions asked for when reservation was made on 800 number. Possibly not as 'motorcycle friendly' as advertised.

  • 4
    « Birch Run »

This hotel is well set up and easy to navigate the staff is very helpful and friendly. Although the breakfast was small it was very well prepared and displayed. The hotel is located very near Birch Run Outlet mall and not far from Frankenmuth Christmas store. Easy access from highway 75

    3
« Construction at Hotel did not help rating »

Hotel staff was very nice. Pretty nice room. Mattress could have been better. Hotel is undergoing renovation, and so some of the things were not available - fitness center. It's upgrading to a Best Western Plus, which I usually like. Pool is EXTREMELY SMALL, and so is hot tub, but they are very nice, and indoors, another plus.

    2
« Lies and deceitful booking issues »

The only saving grace of this hotel was the lounge, called the Fireside Grill. Great food and great staff. Your guest services, however, need some better training. When I reserved they had to call back because they didn't write down my CC right. Then they lied about rooms available, charged me for 2 rooms, and the room was poor quality. Not BW's best.

    5
« Pizza, Beer and New Friends »

We read great reviews about the pizza and friendly staff at the Fireside Lounge. We weren't disappointed. They offered a variety of beers, chilled perfectly. The friendly staff were very attentive. Jessica pours a mean margarita. Esteban hand pulls the pizza dough. Richard went out of his way to find us Canadians some vinegar, before we asked for it. Even though Anthony's fries were spiced just right and vinegar wasn't needed. We had such an enjoyable time, making new friends, we extended our vacation and stayed the next night at the Best Western, with Peter and his crew. Even with ongoing renovations, the hotel is clean and the staff professional. We look forward to returning next year during vacation to see the end result.

    5
« Great place, can't wait till renovations done »

This is a nice place. It really needed some updating and they are currently doing so, so can't fault them for that. The first room we had, had issues but we got a new room promptly and the service received was excellent. The pool and hot tub are very nice and clean. The restaurant is really good and had good prices. The service was also excellent. The breakfast was great but had a strange set up. You had to walk to two different places to get food. Hopefully that is fixed with the renovations. We will stay here again.

    4
    « On it's way to greatness »

They are in the middle of a total rehab, I have no doubt that this hotels will be one of the best hotels in the area. The rooms have been redone and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was ok but if you want something better ,you have many choices in the area for food

    3
    « Just Okay. »

Just ok. The breakfast area is in 2 separate places. Couldn't use the hot tub cause the people from the bar seem to like it, with their companions. Others still at the bar were drunk and loud. Grab and go bags were only given instead of breakfast (they need to go to the Holland Best Western for some tips and training on customer service). Heidi at the front counter seemed as if we were an inconvenience to her, not a guest. She seems to stay busy in a room behind the counter, while customers wait. Business center is a room with the convenience store. They advertise "newly renovated" when it should be "newly renovating". Its all under repair. Elevator doesn't work, but Maintenance Manager was happy to help carry bags, and very kind. Furniture cloths cover many items around the reception area, with dumpsters and machinery in the parking area. Mexican Restaurant next door-closed. Very close to the attractions and other places (food, grocery, etc..). Paid too much for just okay. Clean rooms.

    5
    « Great place...stay here every year! ! »

My family and I always come up to Birch Run to do some pre-school shopping and we always stay here which never disappoint. This time the room was a surprise... It had a set of bunk beds in a little alcove perfect for my girls with the TV inside too! They were tickled!

    3
    « Moving On Up »

We had the distinct pleasure of staying in the 3rd floor tower which houses 2 rooms; one for us and one for our friends. This provided a quiet seclusion and a peaceful hideaway when wanting to escape the daily activities - just for a bit. Although the facility is in the process of a major renovation, our stay was pleasant and satisfying. Clean, fresh, and full of lodge-like charm. Every conversation with staff was personable and helpful.

    5
    « Excellent stay »

My sons surprised there mother on her birthday by traveling to see us with the grandkids. They stayed at this Best Western in Birch Run and we stayed there on Saturday night with them. I have driven by this hotel hundreds of times and thought it looked nice. After staying there once you get in back by the rooms it is awesome. Grandkids had a great area to run on the grass and play, we had plenty of chairs to sit outside and visit with adult beverages and they did have a bar available. Rooms were nice except for the bathroom area was a little tight.

  • 3
« Okay inside but lacking outside! »

This was our first stay on our road trip this year. When we arrived, I was surprised with the exterior, but renovations are fixing it up and I do think that there is great potential. Our room was fine but nothing exceptional. Unfortunately breakfast was the worst we have ever had at a Best Western.

    4
    « 1st Rate Staff »

This is a fine motel undergoing some interior & exterior renovation. A long-term plus for some quite minor short-term eye appeal negativity. The hotel staff though are among the best anywhere. I interacted with five of them and was impressed with all - way above the call of duty. The room was clean & comfortable. There is no doubt, I would stay here again.

    5
    « Another great Stay »

This hotel never fails to satisfy. I have been here many times, and will continue to do so in the future. Reasonable rates. Great rooms. Clean. Helpful staff. Great location. At my most recent stay, the hotel was experiencing some renovations. This did not interfere with the quality of my stay.

Best Western is always "hit or miss" -- miss this one! Hotel is old and depressing looking. You will pull in and the entire family will sigh - "UGH!" Shop around -- You won't want to have your family stay here. Room was clean. Find a place to take everyone to breakfast - you'll be glad you did.

This room is below my expectation. We are a group of 6, the room had only 4 chairs, 2 of us have to sit on the bed. Bed sheets, blankets, pillows were very worn out. Water pressure of shower was so low, it took longer time for each of us to complete a shower.

« Nice Place to Stay »

My wife and I were making a trip to see our children and grandchildren for a BBQ. It was the half way mark to Frankenmuth and we had reservations for the Bavarian Inn Lodge the very next day. So, we decided to make an extra reservation for one night and chose the Best Western. Believe me, this was not a mistake. We were greeted at the desk by a very sweet and friendly person named Crystal. She was very helpful and one could tell she really enjoys her job. Our room was on the second floor, and the only way up is taking the stairway. If one has a lot of luggage or is handicapped, it's not easy. If you have one or botyh of these conditions, I would suggest when booking to a first floor room. Booking on line is the cheapest way to go. Our room was $66.09 for the night. The room did need some updating, however, they are currently in a renovation. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. There was also a small refrigerator, hair dryer, and iron/ironing board in the room. With the free WIFI, Crystal was a big help, not only to me but to others who came down. It's a little difficult to sign on, but Crystal with a cheerful smile would show each person how to get on, either by smart phone or lap top. Crystal gave us each a free drink coupon for either a beer or a glass of wine for the on-site restuarant's "Happy Hour". After reviewing the ticket, we noticed that if $7 or more was spent on a meal, the servings of beer and wine were free. So, we went down for dinner and was greeted by a friendly, helpful waiter/bartender named Estebon Rolon. Estebon took very good care of us as well as the other diners. My wife and I both ordered the Cobb Salad that was both very fresh and tasty. Will we stay here again? Yes! Thank you Crystal and Estebon for your friendliness and hospitality. One can tell that you both enjoy people and the good work you do.

    « Nothing special as a motel. »

The motel is going through renovations. The price reflects the situation. Staff is very helpful and quite nice. It did bother us that the hall doors were not secured. Overall the value was good. Breakfast was fine. We would go back in the future.

« give it a few months and it will be really nice »

We stayed here because it was about the only hotel around that could put our family in one room (6 people). Very pleased with the spacious room and cleanliness. Hotel was under construction/renovation and a little junked up with their equipment, but service was good. Food was pretty good, and really enjoyed the coffee:-). It seems that when they finish fixing it up, it will be really nice. I thought it was a good value for the money. We were in town for a wedding and were able to book a room here for less than the deal they had booked elsewhere for the wedding party.

This motel knows how to treat its guests, and is worth stopping at. You will be glad you made this choice if you are in the area. Food was excellent and the service for early departees was beyond the norm.

This hotel is nice and comfortable and conveniently located right off the freeway. It has a nice pool and hot tub and bunk beds for the kids. A wonderful breakfast awaits you every morning. The staff is super friendly and quick to fix any problems.

    « Pretty Disappointed »

I am not sure what was going on at this place. After a long drive from Washington, DC, I ordered a dry martini in the restaurant/bar. i was told there was no dry vermouth. My wife ordered an IPA, and she was told they were out if it. I then ordered a gin gimlet with Rose's lime juice. When it came, it was yellow from the lime juice which is what happens when it gets very old. So, the bar manager needs to learn how to run things. We ordered a pizza, and it was outstanding. One of my issues with aging properties is that they have entrances to the rooms from the outside. And when people smoke in front of their rooms smoke wafts all over and eventually ends up in your room. Ugh!!! Room was pleasant and the beds were decent. Another guest told us not to waste time on the breakfast. The eggs he said were rubbery and not to bother. So, we ate at Bob Evans. The room was only $69.00 so it is what it is.

    « Nice Hotel »

I stayed here on a week night for business. I have stayed here over the years with a company I worked for. This is the first hotel I have stayed at in years that did not have a microwave in the room. Hotel staff was great. They are remodeling some of the property. Was given a voucher for a free drink at the bar for happy hour and told if you order dinner before 7 pm your drinks after the free one would also be free with the purchase of your meal. BUYER BEWARE this is a suck you in the door special. I was drinking draft beer and told that the beer of my choice was not one of the free ones. SERIOUSLY MISS LEADING. The patron next to me had the same experience. If they have stipulations they should inform you. Other than that it was a good value for what was paid. I would stay here again.

    « Nice Beds!! »

We stayed in a pet friendly room, very nice. The beds where very nice, we where surprised. You always wonder what you'll get when booking a pet friendly room. This room was nice. We did order room service, their pizza, did take awhile but that was explained, made fresh. We also order the cheese garlic bread could of ate that all day, very good. Room service was great!

« Not the worst BUT.... »

My husband and I were coming to town for a wedding and had to bring our pets. We were looking forward to this hotel stay after reading the reviews and their competitive pet rates. When we arrived, we had about an hour and a half until we had to be at rehearsal. We check in and go to our room - the AC unit doesn't work. We called and they said they would send out maintenance but instead we received a housekeeper who simply unplugged and plugged it back in. We spoke to the manager and explained we would need to switch rooms since we could not wait to have it fixed and we wouldn't leave our pets in a non-air conditioned room. We were initially told they were booked for the weekend but then they agreed to move us into a room on the second floor. When we got there, the room smelled of cheap air freshener attempting to hide the fact the former tenants smoked in the room - while the smoking factor is not their fault, the stench from the spray used gave us an instant headache. The worst issue was the clipped toenails next to the night stand. We very seriously contemplated staying at the hotel across the street and paying almost triple what we were paying at this Best Western. We did not due to lack of time. We understand the smoking issue but if you're attempting to accommodate someone after an initial error, can you not inform us that the room may smell a bit in an attempt to make us comfortable? If housekeeping is thoroughly cleaning a room, I would expect them to notice the AC is not working which brings to question the cleanliness - note the clipped toenails here as well. Also, we had a completely vacant second floor other than the people in the room right next to us. Fully booked? This was not the worst experience but it definitely could have been much MUCH better. If you're staying for one night and sleeping only, this could be an option. If you're bringing your family and/or pets, it's worth the extra money to stay at another hotel. Unfortunately, we will not be choosing Best Western for our next hotel stay.

« Good Location, Friendly Staff, Great Pizza »

This is our second time staying here. It is an older BW but they are renovating to improve the rooms - we were not at all inconvenienced by the renovations taking place. We paid a bit more to upgrade to a King with Balcony and are very happy we did. After a day shopping it was relaxing to sit on the balcony overlooking the sheltered courtyard. The staff were all very friendly! There was a Mgrs promotion on offering free drinks between 5-7 with your meal so we gave it a try. It was suggested we try their homemade pizza or their salmon dish. We chose the pizza and are we glad we did - one of the best tasting pizzas we have had. We ordered the 14" and the two of us could not finish it - the smaller one would have probably been enough. A beer and glass of wine each plus pizza for $20 (incl $5 tip) - good value! We will be back!

The location is excellent for the purpose of our travel. We found the staff extremely pleasant and approachable. The rooms are very clean and well equipped. We really like that the pool has later adult hours for our increased enjoyment.

    « good for price »

always friendly we have stayed here 3 or 4 times and they are clean rooms and have many options, it will be very nice when they are done with the remodel. they need to improve pool, I think it may be because of the remodel, also they could use some picnic tables and lawn furniture in the courtyard area, they used to have these,

« This hotel was better than expected. »

The staff was friendly and professional. The cleaning staff was extremely personable and customer service oriented. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I truly appreciated the quiet atmosphere. Although there were some kids running up and down the halls, it was quickly quieted.

« Nice clean hotel close to shopping »

BW is our favorite chain and this one is no exception. Birch Run outlet Shopping is just over the hwy. and a magnet for us. This hotel has great staff which are friendly, but sometime they seem rushed off their feet as appear to be short staff at times. The rooms are clean neat, and in good repair. Some renovations are underway as they seem to be striving to keep up with what customers want. The pool is really nice and if you like to soak, there is a large hot tub right beside the pool. They have a free drink provided between 5 & 7.00 PM in their nice bar area, with bar type food offered, but this time out the grill was not working, except for Pizza, which was a disappointment as we would have to go out to eat rather than stay in.

« Do not go here »

The staff was very friendly and that is the only good thing I can say about this hotel. No elevator, no work out room and no game room very small pool. The website is very deceiving. I know it is under renovations but the hotel needs to just shut down and re-open when it is completed. Very disappointed and we ended up cutting our trip short because of this hotel

Booked last minute, price was considerably lower than other area hotels on the holiday weekend. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. We received tickets for a free drink at the bar, which I was not expecting. Breakfast looked good, we did not eat though. Would stay here again.

« Diamond in the rough. »

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. Although the hotel was making renovations, the staff was extremely friendly. We had a jacuzzi suite with a fireplace, and it was quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. The only thing about the room that I would change, is I wish the fireplace made a crackling sound. :) We didn't use the pool or hot tub, so I can't make an honest review on those. One con I would have to say would be the breakfast. While the waffles were delicious, the rest of the breakfast was not so good. The eggs were over cooked and very rubbery. Yes they offered cereal and oatmeal, however it would have been nice to see some fruit or yogurt as an option. All in all, I would say this hotel is one I will definitely keep in mind for my next trip to Birch Run.

    3
    « It's a toss up »

Very nice staff, they are doing renovations now, so maybe when that is done, I would hope/assume it will be a nice improvement. It's an old building that is in half way decent shape, but needs a freshen up. Could be more clean, like carpets and vacuuming, wiping stuff down etc. We were able to check in early. Got a balcony room, which has an interior entrance door, but then another door out to the balcony with two chairs and a table, which overlooked the courtyard. Not all rooms are like this, and not all rooms have interior entrances, so be careful in booking, to get the style you want. I believe dogs are allowed on the first floor, exterior entrance rooms. Breakfast was good, though in two separate areas. Waffles, pancakes cereal stuff on one side, then around the corner at the bar area was some hash browns, sausage, toaster stuff, and a frittata egg dish, which was very good. I came down about 8:00 on a Tuesday, and I was the only one there. I took a plate back to our room, but seating is available in the lounge area, which converts to a bar in the evening hours, with a drink ticket each, when you check in. Housekeeper did not replenish our coffee while we were there, and the little coffee maker they have is messy and only brews it directly into your cup, (Not a Kuerig) we went out and bought coffee, it just seems to hiss and make a mess on the counter. They are putting in an elevator so there are construction tools, trucks, cinder blocks, workmen etc. around back, pool was icky and kinda small, couldn't see the bottom thru the cloudy water. There was a refrigerator in the room, but no microwave, though there is one you can use, downstairs by the breakfast area. I believe the work out room is closed, and I never saw the arcade room, so it's closed or not open at this time? They supposedly have free wifi, but I could never get a signal. Everytime I would look something up, I had no connection. But in all, it served it's purpose. Bathrooms are small, with toilet and tub in one room, then you come out to use the sink and counter area. Not to much tv channels either, but I guess you're not really there to sit in the room, we were out shopping!

    « Poor management »

We made our reservations almost a year ago, as we were coming to the area for a big dog show. Our stay was 6 days We reserved two room, one adult and two dogs in each room. We checked in on Sunday afternoon in joining rooms with two queen beds. After staying in these rooms for two days, we returned to our room rather later only to learn that we were locked out of our rooms because they had mistakenly put us into rooms that were identified as hypoallergenic rooms and we would have to move that night. Say what? They know we had dogs as we had signed the pet policy sheet and now after two days in these rooms we had to move immediately. Final they relented and allow us to stay in the room that night. Next morning, they had one room available but the other wouldn't be ready until later. I spoke with the person on the desk and explained that I had packed everything and it was sitting next to the door and THEY could move my stuff. They said they would and would call me to tell me the room was available. They never called. We again had a late arrival only to learn that all my stuff was still in the old room because I had not given authorization to move it. When I said I had given my authorization earlier in the day, the night desk clerk said that wasn't true because he had never spoken with me. Well right, he wasn't the morning desk clerk that I give my authorization to. I got my stuff moved across the parking lot and the desk clerk did come and carry a few bags. The next night, there were people in the rooms that we had previously been in. I wonder how these rooms were again made to be hypoallergenic after there had been two big hair dogs in them the prior two days. The room were average for the price but the poor management resulted in this poor rating. Also while the wifi was free, it was extremely slow. You get what you pay for.

    « Good stay! »

Stayed 2 nights here. Staff all were very friendly and helpful, including housekeeping. Breakfast set up was a little odd, but there were many choices, including gluten-free cereal upon request. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Currently, there is no elevator, but staff was able to get us a ground floor room. I believe all rooms are accessed from the outside. Internet connectivity and speed weren't as great as other hotels I've been in, but am thinking it has to do with the layout of the property. We were able to connect and use the internet. Great location for on and off I-75 and close to the Outlet Mall. Pets are allowed in this hotel for an additional cost, if allergies might be an issue.

    4
    « Don't Judge by the outside! »

Staff was wonderful, esp. the manager. Room was great! They are under construction and the new rooms look very inviting when they get done. Don't judge by the outside of the hotel. It's kind of a diamond in the rough right now. I had a great stay, but I also paid a little more to have a great room. The breakfast was a great selection but it wasn't kept fresh until the end. So if you get up late, well you know the drill. I would wish them to better the waffle and pancake mix they use, because it was very gummy. I thought the choices were good. We had an interier room. Loved it and the Lounge was good. Nice cold beer on tap.

« They Gave My King-Size Suite to Someone Else »

We arrived following a concert on a Saturday night. As a BW VIP member I had booked a King-Size-Fireplace Suite w/ a Hot Tub for Sat-Sun nights to celebrate our anniversary. An incompetent desk clerk gave our suite to someone else and we had to settle for a basic room on the 3rd level (no elevator) and then wait to move to our suite the next day. It also spoiled our plans to meet Sun AM with our son in Frankenmuth . . . as we had to wait for the other couple to vacate OUR SUITE . . . I'm sure they enjoyed the UPGRADE!! The hotel is also under renovation --- the gym was closed and roofers were banging on the roof the next day. The manager tried to appease us . . . but fell short as far as my wife was concerned.

« Excellent food. Rooms are clean »

Rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. Our toilet did not work on the first night, but they did get it fixed. The lounge is great. You get a free drink ticket per night per person and if you eat at the lounge between 5-7 pm (I think) you get unlimited house wine and beer. The pizza is excellent.

« Great hotel and value »

The room was clean, décor was great, bed was new and comfortable, breakfast was great, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I have stayed here before and it is the only hotel I will book when I am in the area.

    « Very accomadating! »

This hotel was very nice, clean and reasonable. We had pets (dogs) and they had rooms set aside for dog owners and an area for walking dogs - this is important to us. I had to get a room in a hurry due to mix up with another hotel, the Best Western was very understanding & helpful in our situation. If we go back again next year I will be looking to book at this hotel.

    « RUDE STAFF...horrible room »

We were on an an extended road trip for our honeymoon. Had great success using Priceline until we got to Birch Run. Every other hotel ensured we had a king bed and often upgraded us without us even asking. Not so at Birch Run. The clerk at the desk noticeably changed her demeanour when she pulled out our reservation and saw that we had booked through Priceline. She informed us we had a room on the second floor (with no elevator) with two beds. All we really wanted was a ground floor room (I have a physical limitation) and a king sized bed. The clerk acknowledged they had other more suitable rooms available but then stated to us that "Priceline customers are not eligible to get the nicer rooms." Well, we certainly got what Priceline customers are "entitled to." The room was horrible. Beds were uncomfortable. Linens nearly transparent. Carpet old and discoloured. Bathroom was gross. Shower was not clean. Given the less than friendly reception, we decided to go catch a movie and have a late dinner and leave early the next day. I do have to say that the breakfast was very nice. Good selection, good food in a very nice dining area. It was just unfortunate that the breakfast was the ONLY good thing about our stay.

« Spend a little extra and go somewhere else »

We were with a group that needed about 10 rooms and the area hotels were booked up. The lounge/check in area was ok, and we didn't have any real issue with the pool. The rooms were in need of a good update and I felt like I wanted to clean it myself. You can get away with a quick clean once in a while, but sometimes you just HAVE to get in the corners and baseboards to get dust, hair and other peoples toenail clippings! I was contacted by Best Western to fill out a review of our stay, and I was honest, I didn't like it. I got the typical response of, "we are so glad you enjoyed your stay", letting me know they didn't and probably wouldn't read my review. Book early if you know it will be a busy time and plan on spending a little extra on a room, you're worth it!

    4
    « Better than expected »

The room was clean, smelled good, the staff was very nice. Breakfast pretty good. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. I was able to bring my dog and paid an extra $20 for this. The noise level was okay, even though there were a lot of dogs on the premises for a dog show.

    4
    « Construction »

While the service was ok, the hotel neglected to inform me about construction going on at the Lapeer MI location which meant the pool was closed. Since that was the reason I booked the hotel they suggested the Birch Run Location. While the pool was open there was also major construction going on here as well. To compensate for this they offered a manager vip reception at their bar with free drinks, the waitress was very friendly and made sure all our needs were met when we ordered food. I just think they need to make people aware of the construction before they book the hotel.

    3
    « It was ok »

A little more than we wanted to spend , but it met all our needs . Rooms and service we good but just average . Most of the breakfast was not very good , below average . The room had a second door to the outside , which was good for us to have a smoke break without having to go thru the hotel . Our stay there was not perfect but adequate .

This was a clean hotel. Not bad. Right off the free way. Close to Frankenmuth and close to all the outlets. Had the fireside lounge inside of it which made it nice if you wanted a drink or food. The food was really good too. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was a nice pool and hot tub. Worth it. I would stay again.

The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a family suite, even though it was girls weekend. There were 4 bunk beds and a queen bed. A TV in each area and a table in the larger area. It was perfect! I would definitely stay again.

« Clean rooms and friendly staff »

We stayed at the Birch Run best western on a recent trip to Zehnders and the birch run area. Rooms were well kept, we had a queen suite for our three kids. They provided a crib for our 1 year old free of charge. Staff was very friendly on check in as well at the complementary breakfast. Be sure to look around the corner at breakfast for the break, juice, milk and other hot items. Initially it looked like there was only cereal and muffins on the bar.

« Nice hotel for couples or family »

I have stayed at this hotel a few times. The first was for a romantic getaway with my beautiful wife. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite that had a heart shaped hot tub, an electric fireplace, and romantic decor. It was very nice, thought the only complaint for that room was the bed was too hard. Also when staying there you get a free drink from their bar there. We also stayed there with our kids and they had a room with built in bunk beds so that was nice so didnt have to hear kids fight about space in bed.

    3
    « Poor quality »

when we checked in there were burned out light bulbs, not enough towels for the bathroom area or jacuzzi, dusty fixtures, fireplace didn't wok - didn't provide heat, fixtures were not marked so we didn't know what most of them were used for.

    4
    « Very nice hotel »

The hotel was great and so was the stay. Check in was a little rough because one of the ladies behind the desk had a terrible attitude when I was asking her questions about the difference with CLC Lodging. However, the ladies that were three in the evening were extremely polite and accomodating once my parents checked in. The rooms were very clean, the bar and lounge was nice and it made you feel very welcome to stay down there as long as you would like.

    3
    « Not great »

I have stayed at this hotel before with no problems, this time we had dirt in the bathtub and the mattress was old and uncomfortable. Sheets were stained and would not stay on the bed - quite disappointed as my other stays here have been way above average.

« Great for Frankenmuth visit, Try the Hotel Wings! »

Stayed at this hotel as all the hotels in Frankenmuth were sold out and we wanted somewhere close enough to Frankenmuth so we stayed here. Overall the hotel was good for what it is. The price was decent and it is close to what you need to be close to: Frankenmuth attractions and the Birch Run shopping outlets. The drive to Frankenmuth is less than 10 minutes and the drive to the Birch Run outlets is less than 2 minutes. When we stayed there were renovations taking place which I felt took away from the experience as we would have to go through the renovating areas to get to our room. While the hotel had a clean appearance, the carpets and interior had an "old" vibe that felt like it needed updating and overall cleaning. The room was nice and the size was great, though the washroom was also dated and I felt skeptical to take a shower there. I reserved this hotel specifically for the pool / hot tub also, but it was really busy so we never got a chance to enjoy it. They said after 9 or 10 pm there is an hour of only adults and no kids, but when we went around 9:30 or 10:30 there were still a family with many kids and I felt awkward asking them or the hotel staff to make them leave. I wish the hotel itself would have made sure that after that cutoff time the kids are gone. One highlight of this hotel was their food! First of all, I'm used to hotel room service and hotel restaurants to always be unnecessarily expensive. This restaurant and room service were very fairly priced which was great! We went for late night snacks and upon the bartender's recommendation, we ordered their wings. DELICIOUS!! They were very well seasoned and crispy wings with various side sauces to dip them in. I would definitely recommend giving them a try as they were great. Overall, good stay. The hotel gives you everything you need at a good price. It needs some renovations and it seems like they are undertaking those :)

« Great Spot to Chill »

All employees were awesome!!! Best service, stating with Megan at front desk (reception) to house keeping crew, kitchen and restaurant staff. clean rooms with ready set comfortable temperature on arrival, nice scent / aroma as you open the door and every morning after cleaning the room, employees are ready to help even before asking. nice experience. Great value for the money Paid per night. In future if you can provide different kind of breakfast meat for those who don't eat pork, will be greatly appreciated, but if not possible, wont change the way I feel about your Hotel. Keep good great.

« Super Clean, Excellent Experience »

My wife and I stayed in the Jacuzza Suite room 11. We were impressed from the second we walked into our room. It just felt clean and almost brand new. There wasn't a spec of dust anywhere in the hotel. I can't stress enough how important cleanliness is to my wife and I, we are kind of freaks about it. This is the only hotel that has met our standards. The jacuzzi was perfect for us. It would be great for a honeymoon or anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway with their significant other. Between the jacuzzi, the california king sized bed, and the fireplace, this place is epitome of romance. Great job to the staff at this hotel for going above and beyond. We will be back!

    « nice motel »

This was a nice motel. They were doing some construction when we there so you can expect some inconvenience. But over all a good place to stay. Staff was pleasant. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Over all we had a nice stay and will go back again.

    « Needs updating »

I expected more from this hotel based on the pictures. When we arrived the hotel seemed a bit run down on the outside. Rooms are in need of updates. They are actually in the process of remodeling and had we known probably would not have stayed there, but the family suite was a desirable room. The pool was quite gross, not clear water and very slimy looking.

« Wonderful hotel and staff!! »

I stayed at this hotel under unfortunate circumstances. My husband passed away and I traveled to Michigan for a memorial service for him since his family lives in the Vassar area. I booked a jacuzzi suite and stayed at the hotel for five days. The room was beautiful with a king size bed and fireplace. The jacuzzi was big and very relaxing. The bar and grill had great food and a very friendly staff. Word of advice: be VERY hungry when you order the nachos! They fill a large pizza box! The breakfast was hot and delicious with a variety of options. I am on crutches and the staff help me with my plate for breakfast. They made sure I got back to my room without falling as it is wintertime in MI. When my rental car broke down as I was leaving they did not charge me for a late checkout. The bed was awesomely comfortable. I will stay here again! A special thank you to Michelle for going above and beyond!!

Friendly staff, Clean and updated hotel but beds are hard and uncomfortable. Complimentary breakfast included with waffle maker. Right off the expressway. Close to local restaurants and shopping. A short drive to downtown Frankenmuth. Heated pool and jacuzzi. Game room for kids.

    « Great weekend stay! »

My husband and I met up with friends at this hotel for a weekend at Snowfest in Frankenmuth. This hotel was chosen by our friends as they have stayed here before and raved about the value for the suites. We thoroughly enjoyed the suite with the fireplace and heart shaped tub! The staff handling breakfast needed to be a bit more attentive to the foods as we had to wait for them to replenish many of the items that they offered for 15 minutes. But it is free so we didn't feel the need to complain. We enjoyed the free drinks during happy hour and wished we had stayed to try their nachos! All in all we will be back next year when we return for 2017 Snowfest!!

    « Nice time »

Came up to visit Frankenmuth...very friendly hotel staff and clean rooms. Pizza delivered in the evening to our door was very tasty. Enjoyed the free beer and wine with our dinner given by the lounge staff if you are a Best Western Rewards member. Will stay here again when we come back to Frankenmuth.

« Blew My Mind! Gun Show, Bacon and more Bacon! »

Wow! What a great visit! I am a business traveler and stay in many high end hotels. I was very cautious coming here on a recommendation from my in laws. The suites are updated, clean and fresh. The beds are comfortable, sheets are high grade cotton. The bartender "Michelle"was awesome. Very attentive and friendly all while pouring a great draft beer. The "old Detroit" beer is tasty. There are 3 craft beers on tap as well as the normal domestics. I've read the poor reviews but stand by my review as this being the best hotel in Birch Run.

the staff is wonderful the hotel room is beautiful we will be back for sure!!! we were here on our 10 year anniversary had a small issue with the jacuzzi and Peter took care of us quickly and was so kind in the process. we will recommend this hotel to everyone we know.

    « Pleasant stay »

At first the room wasn't what I had pictured from looking at photos on the website. But it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was alright. Some of the jets weren't working but it still was relaxing. We didn't have the chance to check out the breakfast menu, we decided to enjoy a few restaurants in the area. The staff was very friendly and pleasant to chat to. Overall I would recommend this place to friends. But if your looking for luxury the suites aren't what they used to be.

« In process of becoming a Plus BW »

I have stayed here before. This was the worse it has been. With that said they are in process of becoming a Plus BW. There was construction and a lot of dust. The breakfast needs to get Much better and they should take some ideas from other BW's. If you want to charge for the whole experience than it needs to get better. I might give it another try when it is completed but if it isn't a whole new upgrade then I will stay in Frankenmuth and eat a better breakfast at McDonalds for a lot less money.

« The pictures will trick you. »

This hotel is old, run down, and there breakfast is disgusting. The ONLY thing it has going is a few good staff members. The fitness center is a joke with old broken down stuff.Do not be fooled this is not a place of luxury anything. The beds squeak and you can feel the springs.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

My husband & I were on our way home from NC and decided it was time to stop for the night. The Best Western was the first hotel we saw and it looked very nice from the outside. (We haven't stayed at any Best Westerns in awhile). We were very pleasantly surprised. The inside decor is quite lovely- two fire places with sofas and chairs. Oh, the smell when entering was very welcoming. The price was great plus we got two complimentary drinks, Our room wasn't anything special but it was fine. Breakfast was typical but again, it was fine. We would recommend this place and stay here again.

« the worse location ever »

We were promised a full handicapped run big enough for an electric wheelchair and a Mobility scooter. There idea of a handicapped room was one grab bar by the toilet. Because we had our cat they put us out back in a wing that was shut down for the winter. The room was big enough but the heater was over worked because there was a1/2 inch gap from the top of the door to the floor. Making the heater work ALL the time thus causing it to have maintenance come over at least twice to repair. And if that was not enough the toilet broke down the first day and again twice more. There was 3 staff members that gave good service. Oh they offered us the use of one other room for showering but it was no good because the shower head was fixed and would not work for us. Then the last day when we went to front desk to see about getting a fair compensation we were verbally attacked by the owned/manager that implied that we had taken advantage of the staff and that they had given us a fair price. We paid the rate that any one else would have paid. When we asked about a seniors discount they offered us the room at Canadian money at par if we paid with Canadian cash. So we took THEIR OFFER . As for the dinning all I can say is it was only fair. Nothing was fresh food came out of freezer and then cooked or heated. We have never been treated so badly. We will near stay at a best Western again.

    « Outstanding service »

Everything was clean and comfortable. The lounge was cozy and warm. This hotel is an exceptionally welcoming place to stay. We had 3 small children with us and I appreciated the nursery corner for them to play in.

« Good except for breakfast »

This well-maintained property is very conveniently located just off the exit. Our room was spacious and clean. Wi-fi was free and easy to connect to. Although we didn't use them, the pool and fitness room looked very nice. The only downside was breakfast. After 8 a.m., food and coffee were scarce, since the food guy was overwhelmed by the demand. Also, many guests came to breakfast area their pjs and bare feet. Save yourself some frustration and ewww and just head over to a nearby restaurant for breakfast. Other than breakfast, this was a good experience, and I would recommend this property.

My family goes to Frankenmuth every yr around Christmas time and we take are dog with us and the Best Western is the only place we stay the rooms are clean and no smell of other pets being there. The pool and hot tub are a nice end to a long day and the bar is nice as well.

This hotel was definitly worth the stay. The staff goes up and beyond thier duty. The breakfast had alot of variety. The pool was great and everything was near by. The beds were comfortable and the t.v. was clear and had alot of good channels.

    « always great »

Staff is awesome, room is always clean and good. If there is ever something wrong, staff goes above and beyond to make it right. Lots of hotels in that area, but I never question not staying here. Also, the internet and the free breakfast is fantastic!

    « Dark, dank, stinky & loud »

In town for a funeral of a family member, to save a dollar or two, we decided to stay at the Burch Run MI Best Western. A Night in a Saginaw alley would likely have been cleaner, quieter and more enjoyable stay. Paper thin walls, horrible lumpy uncomfortable beds, surrounded by loud drug/alcohol fueled patrons, with a sprinkling of the mentally challenged, made our stay an absolute nightmare. Stay away, far away. Unless you enjoy the dark, dank, stinky & loud, deplorable.

    5
    « Older but clean »

This hotel, although an older building, was very clean and the facilities were up to date. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and check-in and check-out were fast. The only complaint was that when we checked out on Thursday morning the breakfast was not ready because the provider had not shown up. The lady from the front desk was making a noble effort to fill in and get the breakfast items stocked. We would, however, stay at this hotel because it is a good value.

    2
    « Watch out for Room 231A »

Don't accept this room if given to you. This room is right beside the furnace room that gets loud and makes the north wall of your room vibrate. This will turn on and off throughout the night and would disrupt your rest.

    5
« Fantastic last minute getaway »

What a great location for a mini Christmas shopping getaway. It is at the entrance to a good outlet mall; and right off the freeway. The staff at this hotel are also very pleasant. Great variety of restaurants nearby. The proximity of the legendary Bronners was superb.

    2
    « Low quality »

We chose this hotel based on the good reviews. We are questioning if they were actually written by guests and not staff. The mattresses were soft, making one unable to have a good night sleep. The room was relatively clean, except for the lack of vacuuming around the edges of the room. While, we had a non-spiking room, it smelled smokey. This could have been due to the can for cigarette butts that was outside our door, until my husband moved it. Since smoke affects my asthma, I was uncomfortable. After a poor night's sleep, we were looking forward to the advertised "hot" breakfast. We arrived for breakfast at 7:20. The sausage, gravy and eggs were barely lukewarm. There was no cranberry juice. Apples were the only fruit. The staff setting out the muffins was not wearing gloves to handle them, which we believe is against the health code regulations. Perhaps, you get what you pay for. Did we complain, no, because we decided to tolerate it.... which was a bad decision. We will probably not stay at another Best Western, not will we recommend one. However, we did have a lovely time visiting Frankenmuth!

« Fitness Center DIrty and Equipment Not Working »

The room was clean and had been updated but the fitness center area was dirty and the equipment was not working. If eat in the bar/restaurant stick with a burger. I ordered the salmon and it was over cooked and placed on a bed of vegetables that were thawed in a microwave and sat in the water. Very poor quality.

    « Good Value »

Unfortunately i am unable to give this hotel the wonderful review that i have many times in the past. Perhaps there has been a change in management? I was not given the room i requested and booked many months prior to my stay. When i questioned this, i was told it was do to an overstay. I can understand this but when i went to the room, i spoke to the people who were in the room i requested. Turns out, they had just checked in behind me so the information the young man gave me was incorrect. My feeling was that he just didn't want to be bothered with the switch. Our balcony door lock was broken and when i reported it, i was told that maintenance would be up. I was there 3 nights and no one ever showed up. Then there was issues about a microwave which are too lengthy to go into but suffice to say, as a diamond member i felt i deserved better in the way of service. The room itself was clean and spacious. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The fireside lounge is a great place to eat and relax with good value and good food. Michelle who served us was amazing! Breakfast was good with lots of choices. You can get really great rates at this hotel if you book at the right times. Location is great as the Birch Run outlet malls are just down the street and Frankenmuth (a must see) is a short 12 minute drive away. Due to my experience, i'm not sure if i'll be back.

    « Great Staff - Great Location »

First great staff, reasonably priced restraunt and bar on site. Absolutedly no complaints about the venue in comparison to the advertised price.and location to food and shopping. On another note, should have known better as a traveler, but in my haste to book online, wasn't payng attention and one of the major hotel booking sites slipped in a web address that had the words Best Western, but was actually the third party booking site.. Thinking it was the best western official site, went and booked, only to find out it wasn't through the hotel, which added about $15 to my bill. All confirmed on my credit card statement. What did I get for that additional fee for not paying attention, absolutely nothing, but I wont be fooled again.

    4
    « great staff »

The staff is what makes this hotel a good one in my opinion. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Would go back just to see them again. Rooms need up grading but the lobby and restaurant look wonderful. Pool room needs celling fixed

    « anniversary get away »

Comfortable king bed, smaller TV on top of a fireplace (though the knob was off and didn't kick out heat), lots of pillows to cozy by the fire (but a small area to do so). Living area has a nice size TV with 2 fairly comfortable chairs, but we didn't use it. We did use the Jacuzzi and used 1/2 or more of the bottle of soap (only use less than 1/2). Lounge was nice enough with friendly service and a ticket for a free wine or beer. Nachos may be $15 but they are huge! We had the wings which were good but I would get the Nacho meal... I mean appetizer next time.

« A good value, nice, clean room, but average in nature. »

My mother and I planned a spur of the moment trip to Frankenmuth as we hadn't visited the area for decades. While we had visited Birch Run over the years, we had not gotten to Frankenmuth. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on lodging, so I found a deal at the Best Western. The reviews were good, so we decided to make the reservation. While the room was nice and very clean, the beds were just too firm to get a good night's sleep for us. In addition, I thought the lighting in the room could have been better. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a clean budget friendly hotel with good service; however, if you want a softer bed, this is not the location for that.

    2
« Old and very noisy »

The room was clean but old and in need of updates. There are no plugs next to the bed in the room that we stayed. The room was not ready at 230 which we were hoping because most hotels are by that time. There was a large fight among some of the guests...staff didn't handle it very well.

    5
    « Fantastic and clean »

Excellent staff, cleanest room ever. Absolutely will be coming back to this location. Perfectly located, staff was beyond kind and helpful. Still can't believe how clean. The food was great, we also tried the breakfast one morning and it was really good also. The lounge / bar was perfect. Nice little area to sit with a fireplace and comfy cozy. We are already making plans to come and stay again.

« Clean and upgrade mattress »

Our room the first night T.V Did not work, beds where covered in hair and the floor was not swept. room 230 upgrade the kids mattress and all that was provided was brown cover and light bed sheet, clean the rooms better, Clean the actual mattress because the sheet slid up exposing how the mattress which was dirty. Room 230 sheet had a blue hard item that we flicked off the sheet unknown what it was. Upgrade the kids mattress. Lights bulbs were out in the right side of the bed. The bed comfort for the queen was right on.We asked to move placed us in room 272 the mattress on the right was horrible every time you move it would squeak so loud. There was no support from the mattress yesterday my back was sore. Breakfast was good however they ran out of sausage at 1030, we liked the bar food. From our own experience we bring our pillows from home. Our phone dropped from the night stand and we moved the bedside stands over and was dirt dirt dirt.

    3
    « Don't Stay Until Mattresses Replaced »

Our overall stay was very good. The mattresses and pillows need to be replaced asap. Security on perimeter doors needs to be upgraded to room key locks. Buffet breakfast had variety and was nice and hot. The staff was very friendly and advised that the hotel was being upgraded soon. The hotel is right off the I 75, close to the outlet mall and many restaurants. Only a short 15 minute drive to Frankenmuth.

« Shopping at Bronners, largest Christmas ornament shop in the world »

Booked this hotel with concerns from other locations/stays. Was pleased to find the staff friendly and helpful, the facility clean and quite nice with a spacious lobby, full bar and very acceptable breakfast bar included. The pricing was great, the room was clean, the bathroom spotless. The mattress was a little creaky but surprisingly comfortable. The indoor pool/Jacuzzi looked a bit murky but the appearance was perhaps due to being indoors. Would definitely stay again.

    « Good place »

We stayed here for 2 nights mid week. Nice base for our shopping trips. Good breakfast & the pizza we had for dinner one night was GREAT!! When they say it's NOT frozen motel pizza they are right, FRESH made. Also has some thing called Frips, like potato chips but fresh made with cheese on them.

« good place for the money »

Found staff very friendly and helpful. Room good size and clean. Breakfast was OK and lady looking after it was very helpful to people. Very close to outlet mall and not far from Frankenmuth. Over all very good experience.

    « Beautiful Suite »

Jacuzzi Suite, fireplace, and relaxing stay; things could have been better had the Jacuzzi worked, and their not been flying bugs in light fixture above the Jacuzzi. Stay was convenient to both Birch Run & Frankenmuth.

    « Very Nice »

Little bit older property but very clean. Good location and the staff were all nice. Breakfast was enjoyable and there was a good amount. The some rooms have balconies witch is nice when the weather is good to sit and relax. Generally a nice place. Worth the money.

    « Getaway »

Absolutely wonderful hotel. It's right next to the outlet mall and only a short drive from Bronner's. The staff is the most friendly helpful people you could ever meet. The bar/lounge was awesome. You have to try their pizza its great!

    « Easy off & Easy on from I-75 »

There are some pro and cons to this Hotel. The Pro's the room were clean and good size. On your first night there you get a free draft beer or a glass of wine. The bar opens at 4:00 pm. and they service food. Everything we tried for dinner was very good. The pizza was excellent. The check in staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to change rooms because there is not elevator and my brother-in-law could not handle the stairs. There is free breakfast with the standard selections. The biggest con was the pool and hot tub. The pool is not heated and was very cold and it is only 4 foot in depth. The hot tub was a good temp. however the jets did not work well. All in all a nice hotel. Only about 8 miles from downtown Frankenmuth. Mi.

    « Another satisfied sleep »

Very clean, comfortable and friendly staff. Everything was very good. Lounge was very busy and so it took awhile to get our food. One order was delayed due to running out of tomatoes so it was given on the house which was very nice of them.

« friendly staff, nice hotel »

Stayed here on a visit to Frankenmuth. Well located right off the highway, close to outlet mall, short drive to Frankenmuth. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Had problems with tv remote control and desk staff were helpful and cheerful while dealing with the problem. When remote still would not work after several battery changes and attempts at resetting, we were very quickly offered several options to compensate for the inconvenience. Will definitely stay there again simply because of the staff.

« Cool pool, warm hot tub, leave frozen food out, reuse cups for waffles »

Went for a relaxing time with family, pool was very cool, hot tub was warm, went for breakie, kitchen staff were reusing same cup for each order of waffles, breakie had usual pastries, fruit, waffles, eggs were flat, flat sausages, cereal, milk and yogurt, coffee and juice, accepted Canadian dollar at par, no elevator, coming with reno next year, comfortable bed, clean rooms, towels for pool at front desk, temperature was adjustable, had to travel some distances for restaurants that wanted to be tried, two ways in, back way easier if making a left turn off major road, would stay again after renos are complete

    5
    « Shopping trip »

We visit Frankenmuth every fall for a shopping trip. This was our first stay at Best Western and we were satisfied completely. We will stay at Best Western again. The price was reasonable and the rooms were clean.

« Better visit second time around »

This was my second visit to this hotel. I thought about trying somewhere different but the price was right. Much better experience this time. The room was really nice and comfortable. Very clean. Front desk staff were exceptional. My husband used the gym and it could still use some work, but, I don't think it gets that much use. The breakfast menu could use a couple more options with only sausage rounds and weird egg rounds for your protein option. The waffles are good. The lounge is nice and they have a good menu. Very handy to everything.

    5
« Wonderful place to stay! »

The rooms have been recently redone, location is great, staff was all super friendly, and food for breakfast and in their restaurant was all exceptional! All this for a great price!! Will definitely be staying here again!!

    2
« Will never stay here again »

Toilet had not been cleaned very well. Breakfast did not have near as many options as they advertise. No elevators for elderly or handicap people. Big hole in the ceiling of the pool area. Hot tub very very rough on the seats and ruined my suit. Lighting very poor in parking area.

    4
    « Good Location »

Good Location for both Frankenmuth and the Birch Run stores. Comfortable and clean rooms. Food at the bar was excellent, service and staff very informative. Only issue was a very small coffee maker in rooms, single cup only.

    4
    « Friendly Staff »

We have no complaints about our stay at this location. The staff was friendly and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast in the mornings was good, and they even had eggs and gravy, in addition to waffles and muffins. They allow pets, which was a great thing for us since we had a family emergency and had our two dogs with us. The hotel is large, and the rooms that allow pets are located toward the back, so if you're someone who would be bothered by the presence of dogs, don't worry. The first two nights we stayed here, we didn't have our dogs with us, and we were in an interior room, away from the pet area. The last night we stayed, though, we had our dogs. The interior room had a door that opened to a small patio area with chairs and a nice courtyard. I'd stay here again, and compared to the other hotels in the area, the price was good. Plus, it is very convenient--right off of I-75, and there are plenty of places to eat and shop located nearby.

    3
    « Good not Great »

Busy weekend in the Frankenmuth area. No rooms to be found. This was our last place to check. They had 1 room left, 2 queen beds for $154.00. We took too long to decide, that room sold online. THEN they offered a $79.00 room in a separate building not as well kept as the main building. They offered to let us look at it before we paid. Which we did. Tolerable. Clean. Nothing fancy. Everything is out dated. We just needed a place to sleep. Not sure why they didn't mention it right away...I'm guessing they wanted to sell the higher priced rooms first. Next time we'll plan a little further in advance.

    5
« Really nice place to stay! »

Stayed here for a quick two night getaway with my family. Really nice rooms, nice breakfast, outside courtyard, several room or suite options. Very cool wall with the history of the property near the breakfast area. Beautiful fireplace with books you can borrow in the lobby as well as a children's play area and a lounge/bar with food. Great location for visiting the Birch Run/Frankenmuth areas.

    3
    « Good value »

Friendly staff. Easy booking through hotel. Lounge and restaraunt were fine...craft beer on tap. Mattress sacks not used. Sheets were very thin. Mattress was stained. Bathroom renovated: very clean BR. Inside and outside access available. Slept well.

« Great hotel, great price »

Hotel is older but family run. It's been totally renovated recently. Room had new carpet, linens, paint, flat-panel Samsung tv, shower fixtures, etc. Huge room. Got the room for $59 online. Amazing price for such a newly remodeled, quiet room, including hot breakfast. Would definitely stay at the hotel again.

    3
    « Great location »

The motel was in a great location, close to everything. Didn't like the location of our room, we had to cross the parking lot to get to the Main lobby and breakfast area. Beds were a little soft for my liking. Otherwise, I would give this room a 6 out of 10.

    3
    « Misunderstanding »

We were happy to find a family suite that would accommodate our family of six in one room. We were still in the room when the maid came the first morning and were surprised to see that she did not come back after we left to service our room. We ran out of toilet paper and the trash overflowed. Other than that, the room was clean enough and served our needs. The bed was uncomfortable but was OK for only two nights. We would stay there again because it was a good price and we could all stay in one room.

    4
    « Updated older property »

This is a good stay for overnight. It is an older property, but has been recently refurbished. We had a large king bed room, which had been repainted, new doors and woodwork, new fixtures and new carpet. Clean and comfortable. The bed's mattress was very comfortable. The breakfast was the typical frozen reheated variety. I would skip it and go down the street to fast food or go to one of the many restaurants around. Just my personal preference. It does have a small gym and pool area. You can tell the pool is an older type, but usable. Just kept too cold for my liking. Hot tub was hot. Overall, very nice staff and no problems. Rate was very reasonable for this area. An added note. Because this is an older property it was built before nice bright hotels were in fashion. As such it is a dark atmosphere.

    4
« Good place to stay. »

Nice little hotel Clean rooms. Nice courtyard They give you a drink ticket for each person checking in. Good for one free drink in the lounge ,domestic draft,( which the only choice you get is rolling rock or bush. At least offer bud light) ,wine or pop Nice touch. Friendly staff. The indoor hot tub could have been a little hotter and the jets werent that powerful. The TV channel listing says to watch ESPN you have to go to the lounge. We were there on a sunday and wanted to watch football. Figured wed go have a few drinks in the lounge and watch the game. Both TVS had grumpy old men playing Dont tell us the only way to watch ESPN is in the lounge and then you wont even turn it on. Other than that it was a nice stay

    5
« clean, comfortable and convenient »

I've said everything there is to say in the title of review. Motel is right off the expressway, rooms were clean and comfortable and motel was convenient to Frankenmuth's attractions. 200 characters is too much to write about something that turns out to be what you expect it to be when you pick lodging for a night or more. It was worth the money spent and I would stay with Best Western if I were to travel again.

    4
« Watch out for flying insects. »

Despite the flying insets we had to kill in room 127 and the loud heater/AC our stay was good. The breakfast was excellent. The desk clerk deducted $20.00 from our bill because of the insect problem. The location is perfect just down the road the outlet mall and out a 10 minute drive to Frankenmuth

    4
    « Travler »

Was very pleasantly surprised with this facility. When they said newly renovated, they meant that. Facility was clean, carpets were cleaned, and you get all the fixtures were all relatively brand new. Yes, we will stay here again.
