On arrival in Guernsey I received an email advising that my return ferry had been cancelled due to bad weather. The staff at BW Moore's were very helpful in getting an additional 3 nights sorted. This is a charming hotel, with very pleasant rooms and comfortable beds, Wi-Fi worked well and was free, the food was good, and the staff were, to a person, polite, professional and exceptionally helpful. If the hotel had a swimming pool to complement the spa I would have been much happier, but they do give you access to other hotels' swimming pools in their group, so that's fine (although I didn't use another hotel). In sum, I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough!
Excellent choice. Lovely hotel with convenient location and great housekeeping standards. Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom with tub. Restaurants nearby. On a quiet street. We would definitely stay at this old stone nice hotel again.
I would come back to the island and this hotel in a heartbeat. The staff couldn't do enough, really friendly. The food was delicious. The hotel is right in the middle of all of the attractions. Room was gorgeous. There is a spa, gym, jacuzzi, a gorgeous terrace, 3 bars, a formal restaurant and a gorgeous cafe with cakes and a bar that also serves food.
I absolutely love staying at Moore's in Guernsey, it's a wonderful hotel that I return to again and again. The central location makes it perfect for getting around, just a stone's throw from all public transport and the harbour. A fabulous range of shops and restaurants in St Peter Port are on your doorstep. But what makes this place so special is the fantastic staff team who go out of their way to ensure a wonderful experience. Highly skilled and friendly, they are a great credit to Moore's. The rooms are so comfortable, with king size beds if required, lovely big bathrooms and quality linen. The breakfasts are out of this world, with huge choices. I ate in J D Parker's one night and had an amazing seafood salad with local delicacies. Can't recommend highly enough, treat yourself, you won't regret it!
We have just returned from our evening meal in the conservatory at Moore's Hotel. The six of us have enjoyed a superb meal with super attentive staff in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Steve Purtil and all of the staff who looked after us. Highly recommended for consistency of value, quality and attentiveness.
We stayed in room 301, extremely noisy, were not be able to sleep with a noisy industrial unit right outside our window. I reported this problem at 11.30 pm to reception staff member , he phoned the manager , I was told the machine would be turned off for the night, unfortunately this did not happen. We moved room the next day. The staff are helpful and friendly, cannot fault them at all. Food was plentiful and delicious, service very good.
First Best Western hotel ever I think, what a revelation, staff absolutely first class could not single out a staff member to award a gold star to as they were all 100%. A very convenient location for town, visitor attractions busses walks and etc.
Location is perfect, right in the heart of St Peter port. Only a 5min walk from the ferry. Don't take your car, you don't need it. The buses are great for exploring Guernsey and parking in St Peter port is difficult. There's no parking at the hotel. Hotel staff are lovely. Great selection at breakfast and lovely, cosy bar. Our room was clean, albeit rather tired.
First stay at the Moores, it was a very clean comfortable room and service from all the staff was excellent, we only stayed one night as we had been island hopping and this was on the way home and still delt with as if we had book the week, will return as a very central hotel to explore Gurensey.
A fantastic hotel. The restaurant in particular was extremely good. Very professional and courteous staff. So refreshing compared to the usual sloppy service you so often see elsewhere these days. Clean, well maintained rooms. Excellent central position close to the harbour. The bed was a little uncomfortable but not terrible. Would definitely recommend over others at this price point. Would really look forward to going back. The adjoining Parkers Bar was also really good with great staff and a good atmosphere.
Room good standard, excellent shower toiletries shower gel etc supplied.hot drinks facilities, fresh milk available from reception. Complimentary tour in minibus around island excellent need to book only goes Tuesday's and Thursdays. The one minus is service in main restaurant its patchy especially like when where there tour group is there.
A beautiful room with lovely friendly staff very clean amazing views from our room . Everything on the door step lovely stay , would recommend a stay here for its friendly homely atmosphere and kind staff . The kindness of the staff shone through when we needed help with our boarding passes , was sorted with out a fuss
Delightful room in a perfect location in St Peter Port close to the harbour. Food was excellent- great choice and presentation. Service was second to none and there were many personal touches such as filtered water in the fridge and a beautiful vase of flowers. Couldn't fault!
The staff are friendly ,efficient and very helpful. The room was excellent. The food in the restaurant was Mitchell standard location was good for visiting St. Peter Port straight onto main shoping street and local amenities and excellent value for money
We stayed three nights at the Moores hotel. The location is perfect (unless you need on-site car parking) with short walks to the harbour, shops and restaurants. We booked the Sarnia suite which was spacious and well equipped with a safe and air conditioning, a good mini-bar and fridge, lots of wardrobe space and a large comfortable bed. Throughout our stay all the staff were exceptional, our flight had been severely delayed, but reception adjusted our taxi booking and when we were too late for the restaurant booking we had made in town, arranged for us to dine in the hotel restaurant (reviewed separately). Breakfasts were very good, housekeeping was prompt and efficient . Cleanliness was excellent, we are glad we ignored the one or two weirdly bad reviews, we certainly do not recognise the criticism that the hotel was dated.
Great location. Excellent facilities and very comfortable rooms with well appointed public areas. Good selection of food at breakfast and bistro food and restaurant food offered good choices for dinner. Very friendly and helpful staff.
This is a fab hotel in so many ways. The location could not be better with easy access to all the main sights and shopping All the shared areas are immaculate. The staff are all so very good and do everything to please. Breakfast is excellent with a mix of buffet and cooked to order menu. A special mention to Teay at Breakfast who was a joy to talk to. 10 out of 10 for the hotel's inclusive attitude supported by all staff . Rooms were well cleaned . I imagine there will be an upgrade to rooms going forward but they were perfectly adequate and always piping hot water. There is no pool but there is a gym and jacuzzi . We found out when we arrived that there is a round the island tour on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by minibus but booking is essential. It is free and provided to 4 hotel's in the Sarnia group. It was pouring down for our trip but it still went ahead and we learned alot about the island. It would be worth contacting the hotel before arriving to reserve a place. We took a taxi from the airport which cost £18. However there is abus stop just 2 minutes walk from the hotel and we took the 71 bus back to the airport for just £1.50 each. If you get a bus on arrival into St Peter Port it is less than 10 minutes flat walk to Moores Hotel.
We had a pleasant three-night stay at the Best Western Moore's Central hotel in June. The initial check-in was efficient, if rather formal. After that and throughout our stay we found all the staff we met were helpful and friendly, and the overall atmosphere at the hotel is good. It was particularly pleasing to see a global staff, including personnel from UK, Poland, Kenya, Thailand, and no doubt other places - and it certainly helped us when the receptionist, as well as Stephen Purtill, the General Manager, discovered that we all speak Thai! Our rooms (202 & 212) were generally clean and comfortable, and (for us) pleasantly traditional, with information folders in large print, other reading materials, old-fashioned telephones with easy room-to-room connection, decent lighting, and a bath as well as shower, for example. However, the television in 212 is in a very odd position on the wall to the side of the bed, making it impossible to watch it from the bed. Also, the bathrooms do need some upgrading in terms of fittings like extractor fans and efficient toilet flushes (202 was very slow to refill). Most important, the bedrooms were rather warm and stuffy, even with the windows open, and even though it was only mid-June. Fans are provided, but why no air-conditioning in a hotel of this standard? I realise that environmental considerations are important, but as far as room temperature is concerned, surely the comfort of the guests must take priority? Our beds were certainly very comfortable, and we were not disturbed by noise either from inside or outside the hotel. The tea/coffee facilities in the room were excellent; plastic milk sachets are not provided, but free glass bottles of milk (as many as you want) are readily available from reception - reminded me of free school milk in small bottles many years ago! A very critical earlier review of the hotel on this website stating that milk is not available is simply nonsense. The location of the hotel is very central to St Peter Port, perfect for us, but perhaps less so for disabled visitors or those with hire cars, as there is no hotel parking available. There are public car parks fairly near, however. We were pleased with the quality and variety of the breakfasts, part buffet and part ordered from the kitchen. We also had an excellent dinner in the main Conservatory restaurant one evening, and this is obviously a top choice eating place for non-residents, too. There is a pleasant outside terrace eating area next to the restaurant, overlooked by an interesting large mural featuring well-known people from Guernsey (including a few we didn't recognise!). Despite a few criticisms here, we would definitely be happy to stay at this hotel again, should we revisit the island – except, perhaps in the middle of summer.
We stayed in an executive room and this year had a sea view as well. The hotel has very good dining facilities and we found good service all round. The hotel is very well located and after a couple of steps you are in the main street. Very little noise in spite of this. Rooms have air conditioning which we used several times. Breakfast has an excellent range of hot and cold options and hot meals came on very hot plates! Various other dining facilities are available including the Hideaway which is outside on an upper floor. A very good venue in warmer weather. Car parking is not so good but we did not have a car and the bus services are very good and low cost. We have already booked again for next year.
We recently stayed here for a week and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were amazing as was the food. Nothing was too much trouble especially in the dining room. The staff were very attentive and cheerful. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Many thanks to all.
Very enjoyable time in Guernsey and the hotel was very clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and polite.
We had a fabulous stay at the hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was a trouble. The breakfasts were excellent, good choice for the continental, hot cooked to order. Also had several meals in the conservatory restaurant at night, brilliant and a couple of occasions in Anni's Hideaway, the apple strudel was fab, as good as you get in Austria. The rooms were very comfortable, you could open the windows or use the air conditioning. You can walk to the hotel from the ferry terminal, bus stop and taxi rank close. The bus terminus is only ten minutes away by foot. The hotel is ideally situated for the shops and restaurants. Also you can get fresh milk in bottles from reception. We could not have been happier with our stay in the hotel.
Had a wonderful stay here in May. Helpful efficient staff, very welcoming and the the restaurant and bar food was consistently excellent and of a very high standard. The service in both was brilliant. Our room was comfortable clean with great facilities. Wonderful fresh guernsey milk and butter on request
A wonderful and centrally placed hotel. Welcoming and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed which was greatly appreciated after travelling for over 26 hours. The shower was a little narrow and not particularly easy/safe to get in and out of. Breakfasts were delicious as was a dinner we had there. Excellent service by waiting staff. If ever in Guernsey a recommended place to stay.
Overall service is excellent with staff going above and beyond. Nothing was too much bother. We have always experienced a great holiday Taken however we wish. The location is great as its near to buses, taxis boats etc. Guernsey is full if fun and activities that you can join in. Everyone is very friendly and want to take time to talk to you. This attitude comes in the staff too. Will be going back!!
Old Hotel but great and fantastic location. Stayed in Superior room, really big, at least twice as big as standard room. Close to Harbour and in Town centre. Bus station close by, All busses leave from Town Terminus. Had a great time. Want to visit again.
To be honest, we didn't stay here but wish we had. Came close to booking it in spite of having 2 nights left and paid for at the Premier, which we were very unimpressed with. Only the renovations going on here stopped us sadly. Although this Hotel has Elevators, serious knee issues with one of us was the deal breaker. We'd unhesitatingly book here if we returned to Guernsey. In fact we'd love to and to see it after work finished. It is in a perfect place. The lovely young Receptionist on Duty at the Best Western was most helpful and obliging. She left the Staff at the Hotel we'd ended up in looking like Zombies. If non Guests are treated so well we assumed it would be fabulous to stay there.
I was part of a group of 13 walkers plus leader (HF Holidays) who booked this hotel, so I can't speak about value for money. What I can say is that the food, facilities, location, cleanliness and above all, friendly and helpful staff, make this a truly wonderful experience and I'll be recommending the hotel to my friends and family.
Superb hotel with excellent staff especially in dining room & reception. We had a room 220 at the back which was cool quiet & a good size. Refurb work is almost complete reception is almost ready. The evening meal & breakfast was excellent & we would recommend 100% & stay here again
We have just returned from a four night break. We were so impressed by the service we received. Every member of staff was polite, friendly and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for Reception staff, breakfast staff absoutely brilliant, great breakfast menu, very well cooked and presented. Housekeeping were great. Many thanks to everyone, we cannot wait to come back.
Perhaps I was unlucky with my room - I had to book at the last minute as a result of a cancelled ferry and no available room where I was staying before. I ended up here with a room in their annexe which I felt was not the room I would expect for the cost - it was in fact a slightly more expensive day rate than the excellent Hotel de Havelet I had moved from. The room looked tired, basic and not particularly bright, with windows facing tables outside, which made it feel less private. It would have been fine at half the cost.
Excellent location, close to the harbour and the bus terminus. Very nice staff. Lovely food and quick service. Comfortable room. The only problem was that the wi-fi didn't work very well in the room, although it was fine in the public areas.
We arrived after having booked online, only to discover we were booked into a tiny room above the substantial building works being carried out at that time, which we were not told about prior to our booking - always seeming to be the case when booking through a third party website. The receptionist was blunt, and very 'matter of fact'. She had little compassion considering we were on a four night special occasion and had allocated us a room which no other guests would clearly want to stay in. The room was tiny, dated and the bed was so firm we didn't sleep at all on the first night. We left after the first night to stay in a nearby hotel which was far superior (for the same price). I'd look elsewhere if you're in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay here, a return visit from the year before - we were not disappointed and hope to return another time! Friendly, helpful and respectful staff, whether in Reception, Housekeeping or in the Breakfast Room. It was great to see how diverse the staff team is in the hotel. Our room was quiet, comfortable and spacious with a good-sized, modern en-suite bathroom. Instant hot water was appreciated, especially in the morning when it was needed most. There was ongoing refurbishment at the main entrance to the hotel which should be finished soon. This did not cause us any issue and we were redirected through a side entrance. Assistance was readily available and our bags were taken to our room on arrival. Great location for a holiday base in St Peter Port and Guernsey.
Quite honestly. Please please do NOT book this if you're paying for it yourself. This was a work trip and it's the worst hotel in guernsey. Rooms are 1970s. Service is 1970s. Coffee making facilities in the room like all hotels. But no milk. Zero milk. Shower in the bath; 70s. No iron, just a 70s press. Entire hotel like a bad 70s joke. Breakfast the worst I've ever had and I travel a lot. Sausage uncooked. Hash brown uncooked. The entire breakfast was dire. Coffee a joke. All staff appear to have just arrived in the west. Is any single member of staff from the region of Europe! Or the UK? No. Not really a thing but there's NO quality of service and it's just not a nice place. Cheap labour and no care. Came in after a day at work, went for a shower. Really didn't look but didn't realise they had taken my dirty towels and replaced with…..fresh air. No towels at all in my room. I stood dripping wet and late for a meeting with no towel. This hotel is gross. Food. Service. Decor. All embarrassing. You can stay around the corner for less and get amazing service. This is best western I assume. I've Never ever stayed in a good one of this toilet chain. Please guys. If you're on holiday don't spend money here. You would be very sad. Worst. Ever. And I travel a lot. I will never stay here again.
Another great stay in a Best Western. This one was in Guernsey, the Best Western Moores Central in St Peter's Port, 10 minutes at the most from the harbour and shops. The breakfast in these hotels are fabulous. Had a meal in JB Parkers, the restaurant attached and that was very good too. Would recommend both the hotel and the restaurant.
This hotel is so central to the areas I need to visit for business. The hotel is going through some refurbishment currently which I am sure will be great once completed. The entrance is a challenge with luggage so you would need to ask for help. The staff are really friendly and accommodating.
We have just returned from a New Year break, what can we say, but perfect in every way. The staff are truly a credit to this hotel, simply put, we could not fault them in any way. The meals were all excellent & well served. The location is super, within the town, only a few minutes walk to shops, sea & bus station. Hopefully we can return within the year.
Stayed over New Year, food was amazing, staff extremely efficient and polite, nothing was too much trouble, rooms are comfortable and clean. The New Year package was exceptional value for money, thank you.
We had a very enjoyable christmas break, we found the quality of food and the service by the staff excellent. This is our third christmas at this hotel, Each visit has been very enjoyable and all staff very friendly. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would consider returning in the future.
Our second stay here and in the same room we requested. Good size room and bed with a nice bathroom. Tea making but you have to remember to order or collect milk as they use glass re useable bottles. Good air condition system and very hot water in the bathroom which has a bath with a fitted shower so you have to climb into it for one. Good breakfast if you require one with help yourself toast, cerials etc.. One complaint is that although we did not each a cooked breakfast so saving them money my wife's Capachino was charged £1 each morning. In the centre of town so very close to restaurants, shops, bars etc..
Stayed for two nights in a classic room - huge mistake ! The decor was horribly dated - 1970's , old fashioned dark furniture, very small bed, tiny bath tub and if you walked across the room the wardrobe rocked noisily. Toiletries in the bathroom were Guernsey seaweed - nice touch ! Complimentary tea/coffee - remember to ask reception for some milk allegedly as part of cutting down on plastics no uht milk provided very annoying when you go to make a cup of tea on you first morning and there is no milk -not something very evident in check in . The best thing about this hotel is its location directly in St Peter Port so shops, restaurants and bars on your door step literally . Every member of staff were helpful, cheery and smiley an absolute gift to this hotel . The hotel is undergoing some 're-refurbishment the builders are in hopefully updating the decor and rather old fashioned furniture but it's unobtrusive . We encountered more noise from the 5.30am bin lorry and glass collection. Would we stay again ? ...... Probably for the location and staff but definitely not a street facing room or a classic double .
Reception staff on our arrival were friendly, helpful in spite of being a day late because of plane cancelled. Room was perfect, walk-in-shower, in fact everything we could possibly want. Lovely dining room & food was delicious. All the staff were delightful, so friendly & helpful, my daughter & I felt we were among friends, in fact we were sorry to say goodbye. We couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, I would love to see them all again. A huge thank you.
We stayed here for a week on a Titan tour. The room was adequate and was quiet, as it faced the back with a rock wall outside the window. There's no a/c but the windows open, and there are fans. The staff are very good. The Conservatory restaurant is bright and airy, the food surprisingly good, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The building is quite old so the corridors are meandering and narrow. There's a lot of walking to do, but the lift always worked. The location is very convenient as all the restaurants worth going to are within walking distance. I'd stay again.
Great location, rooms was very large, very claen, however having problems with A/C not working, and reported to staff and has not been repaired, room at front of hotel, very noisy as right opposite night clubs, no sleep until pubs closed at 2pm. also use own transfers as hotel transfer was £25 from airport to hotel a normal £10 trip or £1.20 on the bus drop off is right outside just across the street
We had a very happy stay in a truly wonderful Hotel. The atmosphere is very friendly with delightful staff. The Conservatory Restaurant is lovely and the food absolutely excellent. We look forward to staying there again and are pleased to recommend it.
Stayed in Moores a few days ago for three nights. Nice hotel right in the heart of St Peter Port and a stones throw from the harbour. The room was very good, nice, comfortable bed and decor. My bedroom looked out into a small courtyard, and it was very quiet. Staff were very friendly. Never had breakfast, but I would definitely recommend Moores Hotel for a stay.
Centrally located hotel which had a dated charm with good old fashioned service. All areas were spotlessly clean and rooms comfortable. The food and restaurant staff were exceptional - knowledgeable and friendly
2nd time staying there in a support double. We asked for the same room and arrived to fresh roses too. An amazing hotel with friendly staff in a perfect location for those with limited mobility. We will be back…again
A very nice Hotel. perfectly situated for the older person, (only three steps to negotiate at entrance). We have visited twice now and find it ideal for getting around, and very good value. Situated close to thr front and long stretches to wander.
The hotel is right in the heart of St Peter Port. The main shopping centre and the three harbours are right on the doorstep. The breakfast and dinner in the Conservatory were excellent, the table d'hote menu changed every day and there was a seafood special menu as well as a la carte. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing to complain about was that all hotels seem to use winter weight duvets. We asked for a sheet and blanket and 5 minutes later the chambermaid appeared with just what we requested. Fantastic service. Our room was quiet and spacious, there was even an ironing board and iron!!
This was our second visit to Moores. This year we had a beautiful refurbished room. Outstandingly comfortable beds, excellent bathroom and fantastic shower. Fresh milk available and delivered to your room if required, refrigerator in every room. No awful uht sachets here, folks! The food is of very high quality, the Conservatory Restaurant has a daily changing menu and is worth every penny, great food, great choice, great service. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, courteous, efficient and friendly. The position of the hotel is unrivaled in St.,Peter Port, several restaurants nearby, and the bus stop for the excellent Guernsey Buses is just around the corner. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.
This is a lovely hotel. We stayed on a half board basis-in one of the suite. This was perfect for us. It was a pity that the in room jacussi did not work for a few days. However every effort was made to fix it. We could not have been happier with our room otherwise. We liked having 2 TVs. the half board is a very good option. There are some good restaurants in St Peter Port but why go elsewhere. Always a good choice on offer with adjustments easy to arrange. My partner is very fussy. Breakfast is also first class. All staff vey helpful. We aim to return like we have several times before and will select the Sarnia suite.
Very comfortable hotel, excellent central location, very nice breakfast. The one problem was that despite open windows our rooms were much too hot due to overall heating in the hotel (not because of room heating), and when we told reception about this, they seemed bemused and responded as if it's impossible for somewhere to be too hot.
Yes, I know, the term "traditional values" might not have the same universal appeal in these more relaxed times, but if you enjoy good service, cleanliness, friendly and attentive staff, fine dining and excellent fare in a well set out dining room with pristine white table covers, candle, and table flowers, then this is the place for you. We had requested a quiet room and we were located at the rear of the hotel and although we had no sea or town view, on the plus side there was no street noise and the room and enormous king bed was absolutely perfect for us. The stand out features of this characterful hotel are its central location; the friendliness of the staff; the excellent dining room that we could look forward to visiting every night, breakfast ditto, and the very reasonable tariff. The only downside that we could see would be the lack of on-site parking as the hotel is right in the centre of town, but although it didn't affect us as we didn't have our car with us, we understand that parking is available close by. We will certainly come here again.
The hotel staff were very attentive, food excellent and altogether a great experience. The only complaint would be the bed was harder than at home but after a full day of walking we would probably have slept on a plank!! The hotel was almost on the flat and well placed to access other restaurants and the harbour for trips to the other islands.
Comfortable and friendly hotel with rooms of various sizes in older style building. Staff are always helpful and welcoming and facilities such as bar and restaurant are on hand. Breakfasts are especially good.Fr
I have visited Guernsey over the last 48 years and have always wanted to stay at Moores. As it is in an historic building I knew that the rooms would be small but I was not prepared for the room we were given. The conversion to include an en suite and the lay out of the furniture gave an incredible small space. The room had no air conditioning no fridge and no safe. The hotel is proud that they supply fresh milk what good is that with out a fridge. How ever the main problem is the lack of parking it is only available on the Quay which is a 20 minute round trip and even with a hotel voucher giving extra time the car still has to be moved by 9 30. Early breakfast or move the car first. The bar is very nice but doesn't open on a Sunday and the local pub was very noisy. I love the position of the hotel. The staff are friendly and were so good with a young waitress with special needs. The cleaning team are fantastic and the hotel is spotless. We only ate breakfast and that was good and cooked to order. Overall the hotel could do with some TLC one lift was out of order for the 5 days we were there and our room was tatty frayed carpet and repairs to the wall not repainted. So sad I was looking forward to staying there but we will not return.
Good rooms, bit small and no refrigerator The staff were excellent The breakfast was very good Lovely views The hotel is in a good location The cafe had good food and excellent coffee The lifts are little slow so use the stairs if you can The air conditioning is not great as it switches off after certain time and difficulty in getting the right temperature Our room was swapped as the air conditioner made a dreadful noise
A one night staycation at an iconic hotel didn't disappoint. Check-in was quick and easy and we were able to go straight to our room, even though we were a little early. A really fantastic touch is that you are given a small bottle of fresh milk for your room rather than those plastic pots of UHT. Our room was a superior located at the rear of the hotel. Very peaceful and well set out. We had drinks in JB Parkers but took them through to the hotel bar. Whilst this isn't run as a full bar, it was nice to be able to sit and chat without too much background noise. The lovely staff kept us topped up so we didn't have to keep going back through to J.B Parker's. Dinner was exceptional. So lovely to experience good old fashioned service and such a great choice on the Table D'hote menu. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Breakfast was awesome. So much choice from the buffet and the hot menu and everything we had was delicious. I had scrambled eggs and salmon and the eggs were just the most fluffy creamy eggs I've ever had. My husband had the full English which he said was excellent. We had such a lovely time at Moores and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Nice hotel in the perfect location. Rooms were well laid out and the hotel has good restaurants on site. Although the gym is a little small, it is nicely equipment with a lovely whirlpool & sauna attached to relax after.
Lovely hotel, good rooms, friendly staff breakfast great value. the only problem we had were the pillows, they were very hard but otherwise, couldn't fault this hotel. Location was great, right in town.
The reception you receive at Front Desk as you walk in, is a foretaste of what your stay is going to be like. Charming, helpful receptionists who couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant and memorable. Our twin room was spacious and maintained daily to a very high standard. The towels are the deep, desirable ones in the bathroom and the tea/coffee tray was very well stocked. No mini bar in room but fresh Guernsey milk available on demand, so little call for one. Breakfast saw a wide variety of choice available and the handy Hideaway patisserie is linked to the hotel for any other snack you may need during the day. Location, incidentally, is ideal being in the centre of St Peter Port and near buses, taxis and ferries. One extra suggestion: book through the Hotel itself as they have excellent, well-priced offers that won't show on other sites!
Wonderful experience at this hotel.Superb food and service. The choice of menu was excellent...huge portions.Nothing was too much trouble for staff members. The bedroom was very warm and comfortable, and everything was immaculate
New Years Eve stay. Staff competent, efficient and friendly. Nice venue and good atmosphere. Breakfast excellent but we were a little disappointed with the Gourmet meal. We also felt that on this occasion this didn't represent good value for what we paid.
One night only, but I would love to go back. I arrived too early to check in straight away, but when I got back, they had already taken my luggage up. Excellent room. Very comfy bed and I really approve of the approach to milk - no sachets, but a fresh bottle will be delivered on request. Great choice of breakfasts and very friendly staff. Excellent trip
The Moores Hotel is situated in the High Street of St Peter Port, just a few meters away from the marina. I couldn't fault this hotel. My room (222) was at the back with a view of a small garden, and was so quiet. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast in the Conservatory Restaurant was a lovely calming experience. The choice of hot breakfast and continental was excellent. I only used the Fitness Centre/Spa on one occasion but the sauna and jacuzzi were great and it was all very clean. The gym was small but well equipped. All team members, including housekeeping , restaurant, reception were very helpful and friendly and always welcomed you with a smile. I would definitely return to the Moores Hotel.
Moores is our favourite hotel on Guernsey. It's really conveniently located. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms clean and comfortable. The food is always excellent. Unfortunately we can't usually afford it in the summer but they do a good winter rate and Moores is always our first choice is the price is affordable.
Very central for all your shopping needs , service was excellent, rooms were immaculately clean, very good amenities, restaurant, cafe ,and bar offered excellent choice and service was excellent ,staff were very friendly and went above and beyond what was expected of them ,
This hotel is well located for the town, rooms can be very noisy. My room was over restaurant at the front, and I could hear whenever they started to serve breakfast as the music started. Also, there is a pub across the road and some nights after closing there would be a lot of shouting and singing, and every night I could hear whenever they put their empty crates of bottles out. At home our pubs in residential areas have signs asking people to leave quietly. There is a bench by the hotel were these pub goers would sit until about 2am shouting and singing, surprised there were not moved on. There were also the bin men that come about 3am and regular road cleaning early in the morning, not to mention the horns from the boats. My room was a very small single room. The window was very hard to open and close. Due to its size it lacked many of the amenities of the other much larger rooms - it had no fridge and no easy chair in which to sit and read etc. The pillows are very soft and I had to ask for firmer ones, which I was given one pillow of medium hardness. There was barely enough space to put the suitcase stand anywhere in unpack. The room was clean and well presented. The bathroom was also very small and cramped. We ate in the restaurant mostly. The breakfast is very good. Unfortunately the menus for the evening meals did not contain any allergy symbols. Most of the staff were helpful in sorting out what I could eat but one woman asked if it was allergy or preference! People working in the food industry really ought to be trained in the difference between allergies and medical conditions - coeliac disease is not an allergy, but an inherited genetic condition where gluten containing foods cause the lining of the stomach and bowel to attack itself, hence people need to eat gluten-free food and lactose free food. It is most certainly not a preference. No-one chooses to miss out on the nice food. Unfortunately, on checking out, one evening when we had been eating in the restaurant the staff had muddled up the drinks orders and I was charged for another woman's drinks - a woman from the same tour group who I had only met a few days before and not seen since - and were reluctant at first to remove the excess charge from my bill, as she had already paid, which was not my fault.
Moores is a great spot to base yourself in Guernsey being right in the centre of St Peter Port - actually on the high street and just behind the waterfront. There are tantalizing glimpses of the sea from some rooms. In some areas, it's showing its age, but it has a good restaurant, bar and other facilities to make it a great all-rounder if you're staying in Guernsey.
9 of us used the Moores Hotel for a weekend in St Peter Port and it delivered for us. We chose it because of its location and in that respect it could not be better. A short walk to a multitude of decent pubs and restaurants in town and also to the bus station and the ferry port for the public transport options. We had five rooms between us and they were all different in both size and layout. Fortunately my room on the second floor was one of the larger rooms having enough space for twin beds and a large desk and a large sofa, but a couple of them were more compact. With regards to my room there was plenty of storage space and the wall based air conditioning unit worked well. The bathroom was good and the shower unit in the bath was excellent being a real power shower. Only took breakfast in the hotel as we were on a B&B rate, but this again was excellent. Decent continental buffet section and then a very good cooked to order hot food menu and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg was substantial. Good service levels during breakfast and at reception and also the bar staff in the downstairs bar which we utilised for pre dinner drinks each night. Can't comment on the food in the bar but it certainly looked good and the tables were booked out every night we were there. The only points that stop this being a five star review are that as others have pointed out the decor is a bit dated in both the rooms and corridors and none of the rooms we were given had much of a view. Also this is not a cheap option, but in saying that none of the central hotels were.
The staff, particularly Alexandra, are good in this hotel but details let the place down which, at £160 per night, was disappointing. None of the TV channels worked, the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and one of the lights in the mirror was not working. The breakfast was average for the price paid. For this price, I expected something better, really.
This hotel is well positioned in the centre of St. Peter Port, so convenient to all amenities, bars and restaurants. We only had breakfast, but would certainly recommend as the food was good and varied and the service excellent. Stayed in many hotels and in my opinion the service received in the restaurant was so friendly and welcoming.
Good location, good food and fantastic staff, unfortunately our room had a cheap loose oversized toilet seat that bit you and a sofa that if you sat on it the cushions collapsed inside the frame, we reported this on a daily basis to be told the manager was aware, he was apparently aware of the sofa before our arrival! We decided to book out 2 day's early as nowhere to relax in our room, such a shame as went to Guernsey to celebrate my partners 76th birthday and and rearranging change of ferry e.t,c. put a damper on our experience .It is our opinion that the Manager has so much to learn from his very hard working great staff about customer care.
Walking in St Peter Port on Sunday morning, we fancied breakfast. I went into Moores Hotel in the Pollet and asked at reception if they would serve the four of us breakfast. The gentleman from the dining room readily agreed and showed us to the first floor dining room. Asking if we could eat on the terrace he found us a table in the early morning sun, brought menus and took our drinks order. We were then served an excellent breakfast of our choice of their extensive cooked items with nice fresh brown and white toast. The staff could not have been more helpful, cheerful and made the whole experience a real delight. Thank you to all concerned at Moores.
We stayed at morse Hotel Central Guernsey from 15 to 18 the food was first class the staff was wonderful nothing was to much we had a wonderful time was first time back since I was in my teens will be back
We've stayed at Moores Hotel twice, and it had been a long-standing ambition of mine to stay there. Once, as a poor impoverished racing yacht crew I looked at the people enjoying sundowners on the terrace and thought "one day I'll do that", and I did. Twice! Moores Hotel is a fantastic place, the answer to every question is "yes", and I really feel looked after. The first time was a visit for my wife and I, the second both of us with our grown up family. They too appreciate the place, and I know that they will keep going back. I think, I know, that we've started a family tradition.
Lovely venue, friendly staff and fantastic food. Room cleaned to a high standard. Choice of venues to eat in and staff were all attentive. Conveniently located to get a bus around the island or a boat to Herm. Can't wait to go back!
This hotel is very comfortable and staff are excellent. The presentation and quality of the food, especially seafood, is amazing! Location also, in the centre of St Peter Port and close to the lovely harbour is exceptional
Good value centrally located hotel with excellent breakfast, a lovely terrace and bar to enjoy. Room was a good size and was very clean. Service was very good. They do a free island tour on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Moores Hotel is very conveniently situated being close to the harbour, main bus routes and the High Street, and yet it is in a relatively quiet location, being in a pedestrianised quarter. The extremely friendly staff made us feel welcome and at ease, right from check-in until the time that we left. It was almost as if we were their only guests! An example of their caring attitude was when we were told that there was no room at the early sitting for dinner because of a large party. Sensing our disappointment and unbeknown to us, the receptionist negotiated with the restaurant manager and phoned us later to say that they were able to accommodate us at the earlier time. The Table d'hote menu in the conservatory restaurant was extensive and varied, the food was delicious and the service faultless. In this age of minimalist restaurant furnishings, it was a joy to have proper table linen. The fish menu was wonderful as an alternative to the Table d'hote and we enjoyed a fabulous lobster salad on our first night. As we were on half board we ate in the main restaurant each night and got to know all the friendly staff who had time to chat and ask about our day without slowing the service as the restaurant was always very well staffed. The outside terrace was a wonderful place to relax with a drink or to have lunch; again, the menu was wide-ranging and very good value for money so we ate there several lunchtimes. Our bedroom was nicely decorated, very clean, extremely comfortable with plump pillows, and spacious with 2 small armchairs and coffee table, and a spotless and modern en suite with stand up shower. Our quiet room was at the back on the 3rd floor; and despite the extremely hot weather, remained cool thanks to air-conditioning. Fresh milk for our room was always available from reception, a small fridge in the room would have been helpful but we managed to keep it from souring overnight for our early morning coffee by sitting the bottle in the washbasin in cold water. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent choice of hot and cold options. One look at the Visitors' book showed that we were not alone in singing the praises of Moores hotel, I think the comments had used all the superlatives available! We will certainly be recommending this fabulous hotel to our friends, and may well be back ourselves before too long. Dates of stay: 16 – 23 July 2022
Great staff food and service, Excellent location. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Free island tour was great. Will definitely stay again. Very near to everything. Use the bus to get round the island. Cheap & fairly frequent, Book direct. They can possibly help with flights. Fly direct if you can. We flew to Jersey from Norwich & then took 2-hour ferry. We booked with a Travel agent for our first trip there.
Great service… great location… great breakfast… if you are visiting Guernsey for the first time it is best to book a restaurant prior to getting there, many excellent restaurants within walking distance from the hotel!
A great position if you are looking for a central hotel in St Peter Port. The staff are excellent, friendly, efficient and go the extra mile for their guests. The food was excellent and cleanliness also good. Our room was large. The decor was in good condition, but not contemporary.
Good location close to amenities and harbour. Great food well presented and helpful polite staff, Only criticism was the closeness of nightclub across the road with people leaving between 11pm and 12.30pm some nights , obviously worse for drink, very noisy and using bad language keeping me awake. Perhaps discussion could take place with nightclub owners so that partygoes leave by exit onto road by harbour rather than onto street directly opposite Moores Hotel
If you want a quiet room ask for rear of hotel. For a view you need the front but beware late night revellers and early morning deliveries will disturb your stay. Nothing too much trouble for any of staff. Geraldine on reception extremely helpful. 5 course Sunday lunch extremely good value. Fresh milk instead of UHT but need small fridge in rooms to accommodate as it curdled overnight.
Food-consistently outstanding -best hotel food ever experienced Service-consistently outstanding -both restaurants reception and housekeeping Nothing was too much trouble.Every thing was quick efficient and very polite.
This hotel is great if you need a centrally located hotel in St Peter Port. Its near to shops, bars and restaurants, its only a few minutes walk from the harbour for the ferries and nearby is the bus station to travel to historical sites.
A really very pleasant traditional style hotel. The staff were exceptional and a credit to this very clean well run hotel. The menus were expansive and well cooked and presented with the breakfasts all you could want. The central location was so convenient for exploring the area with the staff full of local knowledge and hints.
I've just arrived home from a two night stay in St. Peter's Port Guernsey. My partner had stayed at this hotel before but hadn't prepared me for just how lovely the hotel was. Our room was immaculate with the comfiest hotel bed I've ever slept in. The room was spotlessly clean and there was even a retractable washing line in the bathroom in case it was needed! We ate dinner in the Conservatory restaurant and it was delicious. The staff were attentive without being a nuisance. I fell in love with the two plant pots by the conservatory doors (you have to see them to appreciate them). We ate breakfast there each day and on our last evening ordered food via room service.
Full of promise, lacking delivery i'm afraid. I like a receptionist to be friendly, informative and sadly neither were there. Our room was a suite. I expect it to be spotless. Any rooms i expect that. don't lift the blinds, the windows are only cleaned half way. The hair dryer so badly sticky we took to reception and asked for a replacement. Which we had to chase up twice. Rooms / hotel is tired and in need of a freshness and some cheerful receptionists. Theres a sitting room upstairs looking like time forgot and really could be utilised better. Its become the walkway to the adjoining restaurants. The odd set up of 2 restaurants adjoined to the hotel that are not open for food on a Sunday even to a guest. So no drinks or food Sunday? Other days theres no separate bar unless you want to sit in the cellar with your drink or the other option open to us was to sit at the chefs bar in the restaurant. Its more B&B with a restaurant and daytime cafe next door to be honest. This could be fabulous given a bit more energy it really could.
This is a perfect hotel from which to visit the Island. Located in the centre of St Peter Port it is close to buses and harbour. The hotel has a range of rooms- so just select what suits your needs. I would recommend taking the half board option- the food is very good- with excellence choices. A mention for wi-fi. I had no problems.
Had a lovely stay in a newly renovated room this Easter weekend. Great location and friendly staff. I will stay here the next time I need a hotel in St Peter Port. Thanks for a fab stay I would deff recommend this hotel to people.
Really great stay! The room had a sea view and had been recently renovated. Bed was very comfy. Food and service were great and it is perfectly positioned right in the centre of St Peter's Port - I would definitely stay again
I saw a one night 'staycation' advertised which included - accom, dinner& breakfast, along with a bottle of prosecco in my room & a box of local fudge. The price for this was £130 for two people BARGAIN! Check in was easy, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who took our preferred time for dinner. The room was larger than I had expected & was situated at the rear of the hotel, the beds were very comfortable & afforded a good nights sleep. The bathroom was well appointed with plenty of towels - be sure to look in the cupboard as you will find toiletries & a shower/bath mat. We enjoyed coffee & a cake during the afternoon at 'The Hideaway' followed by an hour or so in the spa, this consists of a nice sized gym (not used ) a large jacuzzi & a 5/6 man sauna, towels, slippers & bathrobes are provided here which is a great touch I thought. Dinner was as expected from past visits to this hotel excellent & was taken in 'The Conservatory', the food was very tasty & the service friendly & not intrusive, Breakfast is buffet unless you want something cooked - which we did, once again we had great service from all the staff. I'm looking forward to the next Staycation offer appearing in the local paper as I would love another visit!
Everything about this hotel is close to perfection: the central location in St Peter Port; the rooms, well-appointed and with comfortable beds; the breakfast which, if you like them, includes proper kippers, (one of my favourites), not boil-in-the-bag kipper fillets; the staff (very friendly and attentative); the interesting dinner menu although we mostly ate out in one of St Peter Port's excellent restaurants; the price for our 4-night long weekend (very reasonable); and overall use as a base for exploring Guernsey. Best Western Moores Hotel is highly recommended by my wife, by me, and two of our granddaughters who were with us on the trip but not staying at the hotel. (One granddaughter works in St Peter Port and has an apartment there. The other granddaughter came with us and stayed in the apartment but both ate, and very much enjoyed, breakfast with us at the hotel.)
We had a superb stay at Moores Hotel once again. My wife and I took full advantage of the ‘Staycation' deal and booked the Saumarez Suite. Consistency is the name of the game here and we were looked after from start to finish. The suite was excellent and very spacious and will always be our choice when we stay at the hotel again in the future. Staff were brilliant and the customer care was excellent. Mr Purtil (Steve) certainly has instilled the friendly, courteous and professional standards in all of his team which is so important for the hotels clientele. Thomas and his team in the kitchen yet again delivered a beautiful balanced menu which had plenty of choice with dishes which were full of flavour and were well presented. What I appreciate in particular is the detail and care in the food preparation. Something as simple as taking out the lemon pips and trimming the lemon segment, taking out the tomato core from each tomato segment etc. Well done and thank you.
Took advantage of the Staycation deal. For £130 we got dinner, bed and breakfast plus prosecco and fudge in our room. The room was basic and a little dated but clean and smelled very pleasant. The bed was nice and comfortable and there was plenty of storage, although the furniture was quite tired looking and the bathroom could use a refit. The TV only had 2 channels working but we didn't really wanted our privacy to be compromised by having someone come into our room so we decided against reporting it. The bubbly and fudge was a fun treat in the room. Our dinner from the set menu was outstanding and really exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was equally impressive. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and efficient. The hotel was a bit hot and noisy at night (machinery seemed to whirr and clank away on and off and lots of hoovering seemed to take place at all hours). A few very minor issues but overall a really enjoyable stay.
Excellent food, venue, staff and central location. We took advantage of booking the Sarnia Suite for an overnight stay. We have stayed in the basic, superior and suite room on many previous occasions. We would only book superior or a suite in the future.
We found the hotel to be very relaxing and comfortable. The standard double room was adequate in size, with plenty of storage. The decor was pleasant, maybe a little tired. The staff were all extremely helpful and polite. We ate at the bustling Hideaway for lunch, lots of choice on the menu, efficient service with a smile. Breakfast had a full array of cereals etc and a lovely choice of cooked food from the menu. As locals we have visited Moores Hotel for many occasions and have always enjoyed ourselves there. For visitors, it is fantastic as a town centre Hotel. Near to everything. Taxi rank, bars, restaurants, ea front, night clubs and of course shopping. We would highly recommend Moores Hotel.
Amazing service and superb value for money. The customer service is really amazing. If I had to be picky I would say the room was too hot but I turned off radiator. I will absolutely be spending v time here again
Great hotel, located in the centre of St Peter Port - quick access from Airport with 10 min bus ride and couple of min walk - staff very friendly and extreamly helpful - food in bar fairly pricy but very good quality
Did a 1 night staycation deal just to have a bit of a break and quite frankly it was awesome. From the service to the food it was great. Very friendly, lovely food, nice rooms and excellent value. Would highly recommend.
Rooms are of a good standard and food excellent. Staff go that extra mile to make you feel welcome and a mine of information about all things local. Situated in the town and near the harbour makes ideal for shopping or day trips to other islands.
Brilliant from start to finish - great service, excellent staff, wonderful choice of food and the event went off without any hiccups at all. Well done and thank you for all you did for us during our private wine club Xmas event Thank you Stephen for all you do for Bucktrouts Wine & Social Club here in Guernsey
Great to see Guernsey again with some great food and great people. Weather was perfect, be prepared for the £25 rip off at the airport for the Lateral Flow Tests though. Its criminal. Apart from that it was a great business trip and looking forward to returning again in the New Year.
Perfect for visiting St Peter Port centre, Right in the middle off it all. Friendly staff and food is very nice. Spotless rooms. Can't fault the place, will definitely return when next over in Guernsey
Warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble for reception staff. All hotel staff acknowledge guests as they move through the hotel. Beautifully refurbished room with sea view. Central position means excellent access to shops, buses, the marinas and an amazing choice of eateries. We ate in the Conservatory for breakfast and three evening meals, where quality of food and service were 5*.
This was a special trip (seeing baby grandson for first time) and thought a central hotel nr amenities (to save causing a fuss for new parents) would spoil us and be a refreshing break. First night was horrendous, screaming, shouting, loud music etc all night. The guest next door had a shower at 1.30am and we could hear! It was so hot in the room that we had to have the window open but that then let the noise in. So, to stay again I would have to ask for a different room position and not stay a Saturday. Sunday night was still noisy with bin men collecting at 3pm! I did complain to receptionist but she said they couldn't help it. I suppose she couldn't but when this is a reasonably priced upmarket hotel you'd hope they'd warn you.
I have just returned from a week in this charming hotel. My stay was practically perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and could not do enough to make me welcome. The hotel has something for every taste; an elegant dining room (the Conservatory) where the food and service are quite stunning; the Hideaway and Terrace, open from breakfast to tea time where Morning Coffee , lunches and Afternoon tea, drinks and snacks are served throughout the day, suits all ages from Grannies to babes; and the trendy JB Parkers named after the original owner with a modern food and drinks menu. The hotel is situated bang in the middle of the town with access to all that St Peter Port has to offer. I can't wait to visit again and explore the Channel Islands further. Thank you Moore's for making my first visit such a happy one.
All the staff team at this hotel worked very had to ensure we had an enjoyable stay, The double room was comfortable but rather cramped for two people and quite noisy. Location of hotel was very convenient
The week's weather was a bonus but the hotel was great! The location, the staff, the food, the room were excellent. ALL the staff at this hotel make you feel so welcome and they are a happy crew! The food to me was way above the 3 star rating! Thank you for a lovely week's holiday!
From the warm and genuine greeting to the tiny attentions that make all the difference, Moore's is now my favourite place to stay on Guernsey. The historic building is spotlessly clean and well maintained. There is food and drink to suit every taste without leaving the building - three places to eat in house - all beautifully cooked from local ingredients. However good the premises, catering and arrangements are, it is the staff who make this wonderful place a gem. Friendly, efficient, attentive without being obtrusive, “nothing is too much trouble” and “can do”! I cannot single out any individual - it would not be fair as they are all good - just give everybody the same big “ thank you”. We will be back.
Long weekend to Guernsey. Comfortable room. Nice spa to relax in after a day's walk. Excellent restaurant. Good choice of bars. Friendly attentive staff. internet a bit slow but on a break did not really matter
Very friendly check in and given room 222, a very quiet room at the back of the hotel with a seating area, large comfortable bed and pillows, safe, fridge, tea and coffee, ample storage space and lovely bathroom. Apart from a few usual door slammers there was absolutely no noise that could be heard from outside. The air conditioning was welcomed as it was very hot the first few days and has remained warm at night. Fabulous choice for breakfast in The Conservatory which also has an outdoor terrace. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and without doubt an excellent breakfast experience. Compliments to the Chef and of course Gul the waiter, what a genuinely friendly nice guy he is. Have had dinner in The Conservatory, lunch in Hideaway and drinks in JB Parker's Bar. The food was cooked to perfection in both restaurants and the service in all three establishments very friendly too. The ladies who kept our room clean and tidy deserve a mention. Again very friendly and have contributed to a 5 day break that has been amazing and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. A warm thank you to you all.
Moores hotel is conveniently located near the centre of St Peter port. Restaurant, breakfast terrace and bar are quite good. Staff is remarkably friendly and helpful, it's a nice building and most rooms I stayed in are nice enough
The hotel lived up to our expectations , food was excellent. can recommend the evening fixed menu, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The head waiter in conservatory restaurant is a really nice guy who is very good at his job. Also so were the rest of the waiters. Have booked again for next year.
This hotel is very well situated in the town for exploring the town and surrounding area. Yes, the hotel is a little bit "tired" but the staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful and it was clean. Our room faced onto the front - so there was some noise in the evening if you left the window open - but it doesn't bother me, I could sleep through anything. My only criticism was that the room was far too hot - even though there was a dyson fan supplied in the room. We would definitely visit again but either earlier or later in the year to avoid the heat of the summer. The breakfast was very good.
Extremely well located hotel in charming St Peter Port. Moore's has a nice style of decor throughout and in the bedrooms too, with very good dining options I can see why it is popular with visitors and locals alike. Food was very good, a real highlight in fact and with very friendly staff and service. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to staying again in the future.
Great location in town centre and can use pool at sister hotels. The breakfast was amazing! Our room smelt very un pleasant and was full of silver gosh in the night which was not a good thing to have in our room. We would not stay here again due to these issues.
Stayed here last weekend on a staycation..the rooms were great..bright and well decorated..with a bottle of bubbly and fudge on arrival…the restaurant was amazing all local seafood..jb parkers the bar was buzzing and being a regular the staff welcomed us with our usual drinks…food in jb parkers is amazing as well
I got a single room for an overnight stop whilst on business in Guernsey and paid a decent rate for this. The hotel is in an excellent central location, close to the harbour and all town amenities. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, with a warm welcome. First impressions were that the hotel was perhaps a little tired but otherwise charming. Long walk to my room along corridors that were a bit too dark with dated decor. My room was very small, single bed was comfy enough and the bathroom was fine and clean. The room overlooked the street to the front, and it got warm inside. I found a small metal fan in the wardrobe which was really quite dusty. It was noisy. The sash window was difficult to operate and the glass itself misted. I found it quite noisy at night, as there are bars and restaurants nearby, also work going on and bins emptied early. Free WiFi worked well, plenty of charging points including USB. Didn't eat in the hotel as I had lunch out and decided to work in the evening and morning. Painless check out. As long as the rate is good, I would return next time. A few rough edges but generally a decent bet.
The best thing about this hotel is the restaurant - not the bar restaurant which is open to the public, but the guest restaurant. The service was top class, as was the food. Better than some of the top recommended restaurants in Guernsey, in fact. The room was comfortable and clean, although the bed was narrower than our own king-size. We had been put in a room at the front of the hotel, but the windows weren't soundproofed, and there was a lot of noise from the street, well into the early hours, from people leaving local night-clubs. We were moved into a room at the back of the hotel, and that solved the problem for us completely.
Very enjoyable stay for the Seafood staycation package. Good central town location ,close to everything you could want. The service is Always Very good at Moore's . Will definitely be booking another relaxing stay !
We ate at JB Parkers while visiting my son who lives in St Peter Port. We had the best cocktails from an amazing menu - highly recommend the Ruby Sour one! Dinner was melt in the mouth Creole Brisket with lush pickles - best thing ever, followed by an absolutely delicious chocolate dessert with liquer marinated fruit and sticky toffee with ice cream both put of this world tasty. The decor is gorgeous, the people working there are super friendly, super attentive and super awesome! Thank you so much for a brilliant night, you are ace x
What a gem of a hotel ! Absolutely loved it. The food was quite awesome , beautifully presented & so wholesome. Our room was lovely with a great view. But the icing on the cake was the staff. They were all so lovely and so friendly. It made it a sheer delight to be there. The hotels in an excellent location too. In the town and very handy for the boats to the other islands. Without hesitation I would recommend this hotel. It was far more welcoming than many much more expensive hotels I have visited round the world.
We stayed for a function at the hotel. The breakfast was fantastic and the lunch provided for the function was excellent. The service at the hotel was fantastic throughout our stay. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
Just spent a fabulous weekend at this gorgeous hotel in Guernsey. If you enjoy old style opulence and comfort, with a modern twist this is for you. I had a beautiful spacious room with a king size bed and all amenities. The food here is world class, from the delicious breakfasts to the fabulous seafood and Hideaway afternoon teas. But what really makes this place special are the wonderful staff who couldn't do enough to help and really made my experience as a lone traveller special. Thank you so much - I return to this hotel again and again and have never been disappointed and now that the borders have reopened will make sure I return soon. Hints - best deals are to book directly on their website. Back-facing bedrooms are really peaceful. As a solo female traveller I felt really safe. The location is perfect for exploring St Peter Port and the amazing shops, bars and restaurants, and the many beautiful beaches can be reached by bus for £1!
V pleasant hotel, situated right in the centre of town. Nice ambience with helpful, friendly staff. Some of the decor is a little tired (the passageway to rooms is a trifle gloomy) but the room was bright and comfortable. The food in the restaurant the one time we used it for an evening meal was excellent and good value. Breakfast was v good. The only downside was that being in the town there was quite a bit of noise from a nearby pub and from the street (not helped by it being Euro Final weekend). A positive experience overall and would recommend staying there.
Really nice to be back in a hotel for a staycation. Friendly helpful staff, nice fitness centre and an awesome breakfast. Very clean and comfortable room. No issues or problems. I would be happy to come back to Moores for another staycation break
Stayed here one night on a staycation and was very impressed. The hotel looks old fashioned from the outside but the rooms are modern and very spacious. Although we didn't use it there is a health suite onsite. The staff were very friendly and we ate in J B Parker's restaurant. A very nice experience all round and I would recommend to anyone.
This was our third visit to this hotel and yet again they did not disappoint. The room was great, the food (dinner & breakfast) was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. Our only issue was a slightly unstable internet connection in the bathroom but I put that down to the room we were in.
Everything was wonderful. relaxing one night stay with dinner at JB Parkers. Superb breakfast, comfy bed and great service throughout. We booked a suite which was large and stylish, excepting the slightly dated decor but otherwise perfect.
Just got home from a lovely stay in Guernsey, thanks in no small measure by the Moores Hotel. Comfortable well appointed bedroom. Good breakfast and excellent restaurants for an evening meal. Everyone from reception, bedroom, restaurant and bar staff were all professional, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The location very convenient for shops cafes buses and taxis etc.
This Hotel is a credit to Guernsey. A well cooked breakfast in the morning, then head to JB Parker's for the best Pork Belly with stir-fry noodles I have ever tasted. The staff were friendly in all areas of the Hotel and nothing was to much trouble. This Building has character. If any improvements could be made I did not notice a food room service menu. If I stayed in Guernsey again. I will book this Hotel. Well done to the management and the team.
A centrally located hotel with lovely staff and good food on offer. The staff were helpful and friendly offering advice about Guernsey. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The only issue was the outside noise at night !
We spent four nights here. The location was excellent ~ close to restaurants, cafes, shops, bus stop and harbour. A taxi rank just minutes away. The breakfasts were good. We had one dinner at this hotel and it was excellent, as were the staff~ friendly and helpful. Only one minor gripe, the shower wasn't quite as good as I would have liked.
We are just two pensioners who back in January paid £585 (via Booking.com) for accommodation starting 17th March for 5 nights to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Then in the early evening of 16th March the Prime Minister announces that it is Government advice for the over 70's not to travel unless absolutely necessary due to the Coronavirus outbreak. With the fact that our medical insurance states in so many words that travel against government advice will invalidate the policy, unhappily we started the process of cancelling our trip. Aurigny the local airline on the phone promised a full refund of our flights, Moores reception on the phone noted that we would not be arriving and advised us to get in touch with Booking.com as it was with them that we made the booking. Tried our best to ring Booking.com to explain our circumstances to no avail. Eventually we went online and cancelled and duly received a confirmation email plus a cancellation fee of £585, no quarter given there!. We want to go but cannot go, one would have thought there would be some leeway given with the cancellation fee in these Coronavirus times. Seems like it is a 'we have your money hard luck' scenario.
The hotel is fairly old but the staff are amazing and can't do more to help. It is very central for work and town etc. Although it could do with some upgrades the bed was extremely comfortable, rooms always clean and the breakfast is amazing, as they will go out their way to give you what you want, even dairy alternatives.
What a lovely stay in this hotel. I was in a twin room for two nights. Great service. Friendly and all as one would expect from a the star. It didn't surprise me to find out if was family owned as it had that warm feel. Few odd bits that could have been improved in room, wobbly plug socket, noisy cistern after toilet flush but generally all in great shape. Loved opening the big windows which gave me a lovely view to the port. Thank you Moores I will be back.
I can't fault anything about this hotel, would thoroughly recommend it and would stay again. Clean, warm with comfortable bed and a great breakfast. Welcoming and friendly staff. A delightful one night stay
Great hotel right in town, a few steps and you are on the water front, many place to eat and drink. Walk through town and along the sea front. Everything is just a few steps away, the bus will take you around the island for £1 which is also a few steps away. Hotel clean and well looked after, very helpful staff, only one bad point.. no car park, there is one public car park, again only a very short walk..
The rooms are very out dated and tired looking. Carpets, decor and furniture need refurbishing. I booked a Executive King room. It was no way near executive standard. The rooms all smell of damp. The carpets were so old it had waves in it. The furniture was old and damaged and the bathroom very dated. Was offered a second executive king room which was no better. Then we were shown a third executive king on the opposite end of the hotel which we found acceptable. Although on the hotel's website the room we accepted was a standard king, according to the picture which was our room but were told it was an executive king so there is a conflict there. The pictures of the rooms we were shown are not on the website,I wonder why. I had real hopes about this hotel to treat my partner to a lovely weekend in a luxurious setting. What a let down, very dissatisfied and disappointed. Will not stay there again or recommend to anyone. As a local and stayed at many of the hotels on the island but this is the worst. Not very good for visitors from off the island to stay in such sub- standard hotel. No way a three star establishment.
Paper thin walls, I can hear the conversation in the room next to me as clear as anything. The guy in the room opposite me keeps leaving and returning to his room and every time he does the walls and floor shake. I'm guessing I won't get much sleep tonight. The wifi also does not work, it tells me ‘incorrect password' on all of my devices, even though reception assures me that is the password.
I had a great stay at Moores Central, really loved the location of this hotel just a few steps from the city center! The room was spacious and nicely decorated, although the bathroom was a bit outdated. I particularly enjoyed the service at breakfast and the meal itself. Plenty of choice and cooked to order. On a downside the WiFi in my room was nonexistent.
Brilliant stay at this lovely hotel. Guernsey is one of our favourite islands with family connections. From checking in until we checked out everything and everyone that we came into contact with were friendly and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable, with tea/coffee, wi-fi, television and telephone. Bed and pillows were also very comfortable. We enjoyed our meals at the hotel restaurant and new JB Parker bar. All meals were well presented, of excellent quality and good value for money.
Yet again Moores provided an excellent stay over New Year. All the staff provided excellent service and are eager to ensure your needs are met. Sourcing local foods and providing excellent meals whether it is breakfast or dinner.
Exceptional, highly recommended, excellent service , fabulous food , very central for all amenities , Will definitely be back there, Ideal for shopping and restaurants , very relaxing weekend , staff exceptionally helpful ,and immaculately clean
Hotel is warm friendly and has everything you could need for a stay in Guernsey. Situated right on the edge of the main high street meant we didnt need to hire a car. All resturants and shops within a short walk and bus stops very near by. Staff were welcoming on our arraival and throughout our stay nothing was to much trouble for any of them. We would definitly book to stay here again
Very homely hotel right in the heart of town easy access to everything, short walk to the harbour and only 19mins by taxi to the airport. Many restraints and plenty of pubs all serving good food. The only problem no on site parking. The parking is a short walk...
We stayed overnight and we cannot rate the Hotel highly enough. The service and food were excellent but the quality of bed and bedding was off the scale. We have not experienced such a comfy bed for a long time it was wonderful.
We attended the hotel for the Tennerfest menu and took advantage of the Hotel offer to stay overnight with breakfast, all in our party really enjoyed the experience the Tennerfest was very good as was the breakfast, and the hotel room was well appointed and comfortable.
When we arrived there was a mix up with the date but the receptionist sorted it without any fuss which meant she had to give us a superior room but only charged us for a standard, all in all very good service, food was excellent.
Comfortable clean well furnished hotel with friendly knowledgeable staff. Breakfast 1st class with plenty of fresh good quality food on offer. The restaurant is amazing, lots of choice on offer. Would return in a heartbeat.
Stayed three nights, nice size of room at rear of hotel, so very quiet. Staff were excellent, and even offered us a free tour of the island on their mini-bus! Location in downtown made this hotel very convenient for our needs. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed a short break in Guernsey staying at this centrally located hotel. Very comfortable room with large double bed. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful in providing milk for our morning cuppa. I like staying in hotels with a bit of history and this one doesn't disappoint. No hesitation in recommending
lovely place to stay, not far from the amenities although on a hill not too far to walk. hotel was clean, friendly and looked welcoming from the front. with having other hotels in the group all amenities were accounted for
This was my second stay at the hotel, and the welcome, service and over all experience was just as good as I remembered. The staff's smiles were genuine; they were professional and helpful. Even locals choose to book tables at the hotel restaurant (and that's always a good sign in a city full of dining options!). I hope to come back soon. Being in the city means some evening noise at the weekend, but is soo convenient for shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions, buses and ferries to Sark and Herm.
My stay was only for one night and the hotel chosen by my company. My next stay will be for much longer by my own choice. The staff were so helpful, nothing was too much. Food amazing too. I had planned to go out for dinner but my room was so comfortable that I stayed in and got room service. Best night's sleep I've had in ages!
Booked superior room that was noisy and bad lighting, there had been a fire previous to our visit and hotel smelled of smoke and noise of building repairs. We paid for taxi transfers at time of booking, reception gave us wrong pick up time so missed taxi. Second stay at hotel will not be a third.
We are here as part of a bus tour- and found all aspects of the hotel's catering and service very good- exceeded our expectations. Good menu, promptly served to a group of 28, well presented and the hotel had a good feel. So much so that we felt this would have been a good place to stay!! Excellent location in the heart of St Peter Port.
The hotel was wonderful and the decor was outstanding. The food was excellent and dining room staff very friendly .We ate there twice and each time the food was better. The hotel is very central so shops and harbour very close. The reception staff where very helpful with information about the island especially Alejandra and Timea . Looking forward to staying there again.
Hotel located at the end of the main (cobbled) road Le Pollet. Good sized double room, light & airy located in the annex adjoining the hotel. Excellent food, varied menu changed every evening. Service staff excellent.
Stayed at this Hotel for 3 nights central location at St Peters Port room quite nice very large double bed . Food in restaurant very nice both the Breakfast and evening meal high quality. Staff pleasant and helpful the only problem is extremely noisy in bedroom late at night from people leaving nightclubs !! So not a quite place to rest !
Fantastic hotel well located for all amenities Friendly and efficient staff Fantastic food in a relaxed atmosphere Clean, spacious rooms and communal areas Added bonus of in house Hideaway Cafe serving delicious cakes/pastries etc... all day
A pleasant enough stay. I was in a single room about as far away from reception as you could get. The room was very clean and pretty comfortable. A single bed might be a stretch if you are really tall - at 5 feet 5 the bed was only just long enough. Would have been nice if the free toiletries had been refreshed during the stay as well. I read that some of the rooms have air conditioning. Mine came with a very loud fan, to the point that I worried it was disturbing the neighbours. With the window open, it was a fairly noisy spot. All that said, I really did enjoy my stay away.
This Hotel is located on St Peter Ports main shopping street, I found it extremely good value, Breakfast is good, Menu is good, really enjoyed all my meals. My Room had air-conditioning, as it was really hot it definetly came in handy.
Stayed here for one night on route to Sark. Never again. Been here many times but a few years ago and hotel completely different now. The family room was in a separate block right by kitchens and restaurant. Furnishing was cheap to put it mildly. No A/C in room and blistering hot day. A small fan was provided but opened all windows to try and get air in until realised the staff use the space under the widows to smoke. Twice I asked them if they minded going elsewhere as kids were asleep and room filling up with smoke. Beds were uncomfortable, pillows hard. Door almost impossible to open and close securely - surely a fire risk especially with all the smokers around it. I barely slept. I did mention all this to reception, no response, just told they would speak to the manager. A hotel well past its prime that doesn't seem to be bothered any more and could do with a complete refurbishment and change of staff.
As weary travellers we were too early for a meal in the terrace restaurant but enjoyed wine in the bar before being taken to our table. The set dinner had a valued choice of the three courses and we chose prawns with chilli and garlic and a cheese, red onion and fig tart which were delicious. Main courses were steak in a tasty sauce and salmon. Fresh vegetables were well cooked and we followed with a frozen granola and peach mousse and pancakes with honeycomb ice cream.the wine was reasonably priced and the service good.
Excellent staff who were very helpful and friendly. Food quality was excellent. The loction was idealfor getting around the main town and shopping area. Very enjoyable stay . Would revisit the hotel when in Guernsey.
I didn't get a chance to stay here because the ferry from St. Malo to Guernsey was cancelled due to weather. The Moores kindly cancelled my reservation despite the fact that I cancelled at noon the day of arrival. It would have been within their rights to change me around $400 for the two rooms I had reserved, as this was in August, a very busy time for them.
we have had another wonderful holiday at this fantastic hotel what can i say the staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble all the restaurant staff are so happy and lovely smiles to greet us every day morning breakfast and evening meals were fantastic and such a good choice also the reception staff are lovely cant remember all their names but a special mention Susanna and Geraldine who manged to arrange our lovely room 301 and the lovely roses when we arrived a lovely thought cant wait to return next year
Our recent stay at the Moores Central Hotel could not have been better. Happy, helpful staff. A lovely restaurant serving very good food. Great value for money. The central position of the hotel makes access to St.peter Port very easy.
We really recommend this 4 stars hotel. A perfect location : right at the Guernsey harbor which is very convenient when you arrive by boat and in the main commercial street in town which saves you a lot of time if you want to go shopping or find good restaurants. Our superior room, on the top floor, was very comfortable and full of sun with a view on the island of Herm. The staff was very friendly, helpful and international. Prices were very competitive. The bus terminal, very close, take you to all the parts of the island, to beautiful sand beaches in particular. To stay in this hotel largely contribute to the pleasure we had to stay in Guernsey and we really recommend this hotel.
Location fantastic, very quiet location, in centre of main shopping and restaurant area. Close to transport to the rest of the island. Rooms very clean, nicely refurbished. Bed comfortable and room facilities excellent.
Nothing fancy but no bad surprises. Well situated in town and close ( walk) to most attractions or restaurants:bars. Room may be on the small side but with a nice opening and clean.. Not a place to “stay for chilling” but very good from a location point of view to roam around. Service was excellent . Nice terrace as well.
Very nice stay in St Peter Port. Been many times and always love it here! Hotel is excellent and very handy location. Lots of top notch coffee shops and bars. great shopping. Very relaxed atmosphere in Guernsey
Lovely hotel, had a twin room on the third floor. This gave lovely views of the harbour and town. Had dinner one evening and it was fresh and enjoyable. The hotel provided a complementary bus trip (available two afternoon a week), this took in lots of the tourist sights and was one of the highlights of the week. A full english breakfast together with cerials and fruit was provided each day. Central location allowed us to travel by public transport both from and to the airport. A good environmental consideration.
Because the Channel Island are so steep we choose Moore's because of it's locality smack in the centre of St Peters Port but not the noisy end, close to the excellent bus service the island offers and also to shops, restuarants and pubs, not that we used them the hotel provided us with everything we needed - this was our sixth visit we wouldn't go anywhere else
A great welcome, very helpful. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. Clipper teas on the tray in room was fab as I do love them. Walls a bit thin as I could hear the neighbouring rooms conversation and tv. Reception were fantastic talking me through directions and stowing my bag the next day. Breakfast was delicious! Would return with family. Wish I had tried the restaurant for dinner
I visited Moores recently with 5 friends - we were on a walking holiday. The hotel is in a really good position, easy to get to the harbour for trips over to Herm and Sark, right by a variety of shops, about 5 minutes walk to the bus station with round the island buses and great for some excellent restaurants. The rooms are well appointed and have all you need. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is very good, breakfast and dinner. The only slight drawback is that it can be noisey. The street below is a narrow and noise funnels upwards. Our room was not double glazed so even with the windows open it was not great.
Moore's hotel in St Peter Port Guernsey, is ideally located for both the Business and Tourist Visitor. Located in the charming old part of the town, yet close to shops, restaurants and the harbour. The hotel is very well appointed and is Managed to a very high order. This is reflected in the high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and in the personal professionalism displayed by all the staff.
We came to Guernsey for a weekend and this place was perfect. The location was a quick 5-7min from the ferry terminal. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Check in and check out was a breeze. We asked for late check out and it was no problem at all. Would stay here again.
I stayed at Moores Central in St Peter Port Guernsey for a week with my elderly parents and had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and spotlessly clean. The restaurant was lovely and the food excellent and extremely good value, especially the fish menu. The breakfast menu was very extensive and freshly cooked. The hotel is ideally placed in the town and only short walk to the centre and harbour. Lack of parking for the hire car was the only drawback but understandable in view of the location. We had a super time and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guernsey.
We had to move to a different hotel after two rather restless nights in here.. Perhaps we were unlucky with our room, but there were no blackout blinds, which meant we were woken up by natural light at 5am. The room was very hot and stuffy despite us leaving the window fully open and only 11C outside. There is no air-conditioning, only a small fan which doesn't really do much. Generally room was small and very dated, with not particularly comfortable bed. Very surprising given the price and seemingly good reviews. The only positive things I could note are great location and friendly staff. However, I would not recommend this place if you want a comfortable stay.
First stayed here 3 years ago in single rooms which were perfectly adequate .This visit had to have double rooms with single occupancy .We both enjoyed the extra space and the outlook was better .We love the hotel and it's position .Lots of eating places a short walk away as well as many shops .Just round the corner to the harbour .The hotel provides a free tour of the island twice a week which is informative and a lovely way to spend an afternoon .I advise you book when you arrive !
Stopped last weekend for 4 nights. Room was a little on the small side but was nicely furnished. Three good restaurants with plenty of choice. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Could not have asked for more. Would look to return if we ever revisited the Island.
The grey pound was being spent here, but with full justification. Its a great location for shops, bars, buses and ferries. We ate twice in the restaurant and the meals were superb., the breakfasts were also top notch. The staff both in the restaurant and around the hotel were friendly and efficient. We will be returning in the future.
Best Western Moore's in Guernsey is ideal for “mature ahem” people as it's a cock stride from the harbour, right on the main shopping street and easy access to bars and cafes around the town. The hotel is a good 4/5 star, and everyone there made you feel like part of the family. Excellent stay.
The hotel is one street from the port in the center of St Peter Port. It is an old building, so all the rooms are different. The elevator does not cover all floors. We had a very nice room at the front with ample space. Lighting and ventilation were very well, with windows at the front. The curtains were thick enough to make the room dark.
We stayed here for a week in May. I can highly recommend the hotel. The food was excellent and being a Coeliac wasn't any problem for them. I could choose any dish from their menu safe in the knowledge that I would get a delicious gluten free version of it. The staff were very helpful and kind. My husband loved the jacuzzi. Location wise it was central, within a couple of minutes walking distance to the shops, sea, ferries, etc. The ideal place to stay!
Lovely to return here and be remembered from last year. Personal service throughout and complete flexibility by restaurant in accommodating our need to eat at different times each evening, and have early breakfast before flying to Alderney.
This hotel is excellent, I would recommend it to anyone, the service is first class and the food is the best I have ever had in a hotel. Many thanks for a great holiday, I hope to see you again. The staff were really helpful ,nothing was too much trouble for them.
This hotel has got to be the best I have stayed in for service, quality, staff and value for money, there is a fantastic restaurant, super breakfast facilities, a lovely little bar, and a fantastic open terraced
Lap of luxury at a relaxed pace with good food, mealtime service, room cleanliness and - most important for a good holiday - friendly, cheerful, helpful and efficient staff in all areas of the Hotel. We will return - just as soon as possible.
My Wife and I stayed here for long weekend as an early wedding anniversary. The Staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly and extremely helpful. The Hotel was clean and very comfortable and ideally situated in St. Peter Port. There was a lovely gesture in our room in the shape of a bowl of fruit and a note of best wishes for our anniversary. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection for all tastes. On the Sunday evening, we dined at the hotel's restaurant The Conservatory. The staff on duty and the food were first class and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If you stay in St. Peter Port, Moore's Central is the place.
I have been staying here while working in Guernsey for a customer and have enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location close to the sea and the staff are all friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
We travelled as a family to visit other family members in Guernsey. We stayed at the Best Western and we were not disappointed. The hotel and staff was excellent. Great central location. Rooms were very comfortable with all that was needed for the weekend. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. We did not have dinner there but it looked amazing. Our only complaint is the availability of taxis in Guernsey which of course is out of the hotels control.
We selected this establishment basically due to its central location and were not disappointed. Frankly this is a hidden gem and it's star rating seems low considering the services which were top class. The room was comfortable and the restaurants produced top class fare. One tiny criticism was the lack of well lit mirrors for shaving and applying makeup.
We attended a wine tasting and then a meal after The wine tasting was very good with laughter and fun and the chap knew his wines it was great to ask question a very enjoyable evening The meal was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly and work well together and seemed happy which is always nice too see we were quite a large party but food was served quickly Will definitely be backed
We enjoyed an impeccable standard of service throughout our stay from the friendly and professional staff . Special mention goes to the conservatory restaurant team who were exceptional. Overall, very good value.
I cannon praise Moore's too highly. Our overall experience was excellent with the staff going the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The restaurant offered an amazing choice of well cooked food at a reasonable cost. A little noisy at night. Our room was on the front of the hotel and the bed was a little "cosy"
Great Service from pleasant staff, The Food was Excellent , Two restaurants , one cafe bar all very good, We had a very nice room on the third floor (302) with Great views of the sea and the harbor , Great location right in the center
Enjoyable stay at Best Western Moores hotel in Guernsey - clean and comfortable room, if a little warm. Good food in the restaurant, with plenty of local fish on the menu. Check in and out were both efficient.
Guernsey visitor for over 30 years. Incredible restaurants / Wonderful scenery / Excellent Hotels offering professional friendly service. If you are looking for a quality break, look no further. Guernsey has it all. No guarantee weather wise, but every other aspect of a relaxing top grade experience is just a 50 minute flight from London.
I stay at the Moores Central when I am over on Guernsey on business. The location is perfect, right in the centre of town. The hotel is a little old fashioned and "traditional" and possibly a bit out of date but the rooms are clean, breakfast is excellent and I get very good corporate rates which is very important for a small business like mine.
Nineteen members of our club had a Xmas dinner in the restaurant. Everything ran smoothly. We had pre-ordered the food, which was excellent, and was served by charming staff. I would not hesitate to recommend the restaurant as a venue for a dinner party.
I enjoyed my brief stay here (2 nights) at the start of December. Very well located: just a few minutes walk from the bus terminus (eg bus to/from the airport or the excellent round-island bus trip) and equally close to both the main shopping centre and the harbour side. My room was very comfortable; the breakfast was excellent; the downstairs bar/restaurant was nice and lively - the food looked really good; all the staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Really enjoyed our stay. Very central location, near harbour and shops. Staff, especially Emanuela in the bar and Suzanne on reception made our trip. Always had a smile, Emanuela sense of fun was terrific. Certainly go back. Bedrooms comfortable and the restaurant food superb. The restaurant manager was helpful and very welcoming every morning.
I am just coming to the end of 3.5 years at this hotel. And I am really sad to be saying goodbye. This hotel is in a great location, hotel has been regularly updated in the time I have been coming but the special part is not the decor or the location, it's the people that work here. They have treated me so incredibly well.. they sort out any problem, help with any issues and I honestly feel that they could not have done more to make me welcome. The restaurant staff are fantastic, reception staff welcoming and so accomodating and the housekeeping and bar staff are just so lovely. I take back what I previously said about children as mine have stayed here 3 times and could not have been more welcomed. I amp their number 1 fan and I really believe if you want to feel something special, then this is the place to visit,
Stayed 6 nights on a business trip. Room was nice, temperature seemed to vary quite a lot without reason though. Shower and taps took forever, and I mean forever, to produce hot water. Seen that in other reviews so must be a problem for them. Only ate breakfast at the hotel, not flash, not a huge selection but ok. Coffee not great if you like a caffeinated start to the day. Gym is tiny, two stationary bikes, two treadmills, one concept. Some free weights. Functional. Didn't try the pool/steam room.
I am writing two reviews for Moores, one for bed and breakfast at the hotel and one for dinner at the Conservatory restaurant. This is for the hotel. I am giving the hotel five stars, although really it only rates four and a half. (My review of the restaurant is much less favorable.) The location is excellent. The front desk staff are excellent. The breakfast staff are fine. My room was a good size, with a sliver of a water view, complete with temperature control, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, safe, tea/instant coffee equipment and (ominously) a standing fan. In October I didn't need the fan, although I did need the AC. I slept well. However, there were some minor issues. The small table in the corner of the bedroom needed to be replaced or refinished, needed area lighting and was the wrong height for writing/typing. (The tables in the Lounge were also the wrong height and the "writing room" was non-functional.) The bath/shower had a half length glass door, with a metal bar on the outside. The bar was not properly attached at one end and easily pulled out of the door. This was fixed on request. The two single beds making up the double/king (?) were supposed to be joined at the foot, but the metal bar was broken. This was not fixed as I asked for the fix to wait. These are the kind of issues that should be caught as part of routine inspection. The water was too hot to be safe in the morning, but in the evening I had to run the sink tap for a long time to get anything more than tepid water. The cold water was never really cold. Although cooked breakfast was ordered from a menu (other items were on a buffet), it appeared that most items were not cooked to order, the only item which arrived hot was the sausage. The bacon was uniformly tough, and the one time I ordered fried bread it was too tough to cut. The mushrooms were tiny pieces and the scrambled eggs gooey.
It's like being in an Agatha Christie novel. Narrow, winding corridors, creaky floorboards, poorly soundproofed doors. More power outlets and French-compatible power outlets in rooms would make a very useful addition for those on short breaks from continental Europe. Not quite sure what the fourth star is for.
I spent 1 night at the hotel and found it to be very central. The rooms were of a good standard and I found the staff to be extremely helpful. As i arrived early I used the Hideaway bar to have some breakfast , the food was good and the staff very helpful.
We stay here once a year and would not think of staying anywhere else the hotel staff are always friendly and extremely helpful the rooms are comfortable and clean, it has a very good restaurant although I find the choice a little bit fussy for my taste, the breakfast is By far the best I have ever eaten. If you are going to Guernsey then this is the place to stay try it and I guarantee you won't be disappointed
Stayed a couple of nights here and thought the hotel was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was good. My only negative was the street noise at the front of the hotel. Loads of drunks shouting through the night
We started with venison carpaccio with orange and horseradish washed down with Princes Abbes Resiling Schumlumger, followed by Poached Fillet of Lemon Sole and Chablis Domain Jean Defaix 2017,then to follow was a sorbet closely followed by Roast Goose.Apples, and prunes accompanied by Devils Corner Tasmania Pinot Noir 2016. Whilst we had cheese & biscuits and port to end proper, to such we experienced Warm Chocolate Soufle along with hazelnuts & Moores Baileys and Rickety Bridge Late Harvest Chenin Blanc...... well done Allan & Moore's Best Western Team!
We had a four-night break in Guernsey staying at the Best Western Moores. This hotel is so well located at the heart of St Peter Port. From the moment we arrived until the day we left we experienced just the best service. Reception and waiting staff were fabulous - so friendly and smiley. We loved the outdoor terrace as we were blessed with fabulous weather. Please don't change anything!
This is a friendly well run hotel ,nicely positioned in the heart of town near shops and harbourWe would go again but if we could not get a half board rate we would book our evening meals before we arrived.
We recently stayed at the BW Moores Central Hotel on a B&B basis. The warm and friendly greeting on arrival continued throughout our stay - all the staff were fabulous. It's a great St Peter's Port base, with just a short walk to the bus and ferry terminals. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The Hotel offers a great breakfast, lunch/afternoon tea in The Hideaway and fine dining in The Conservatory too. Thomas (Executive Head Chef) is a master of his art and his menus are fantastic - don't miss the opportunity to dine here during your stay. Lyn (Head Chef) and Gul (Restaurant Manager) and his team are wonderful too and make your dining experience very special. We had a special family occasion during our stay and Thomas, Lyn and Gul went out of their way to make it a an amazing experience and memory - thank you! The room was great and spotlessly clean (thanks Natty!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!
My experience of Best Western Hotels has always been good and this was no exception. There is a choice from three menus - set, fish or a la carte. My friend and I went with the set daily menu either two or three courses. What a wonderful choice of starters and main courses - we couldn't manage a sweet as portions were so generous. Well worth visit.
The best base for non drivers in the island- near buses and in centre of town. Recommend half board and also a class A room- which are a bit bigger and worth the extra- if like us you spend more time in room than most- Room 223 is great- quiet and windows in bath room which allow a through breeze. Food is high quality- and seems to improve. The small spa is nice= but don't expect much. Will return all being well
A super location - just 10 mins walk from the bus and ferry terminals. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within 5 mins walk. Service at breakfast was excellent and better than that we received in more expensive establishments on other Islands.
Really good choice of hotel. Bang in the town centre but we couldn't tell from the room. We'd booked through an agent who for some reason had booked us a twin room (we'd had doubles everywhere else we stayed). We didn't mind too much but asked on the off chance if they had a double. The lady on reception went out of her way to find us one and even upgraded us. Excellent service. In fact there was excellent service throughout our stay, all the staff are very good at their jobs. Food in the restaurant was really good - breakfast and evening meal. Would definitely stay again - having seen both room types I think I'd pay for the upgrade to the superior room too - big comfy bed and the aircon was worth having. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.
We received fantastic service from the receptionist who helped us out of a really tricky situation (caused by another hotel of very poor standard). Absolutely went the extra mile and saved our weekend break from being a total disaster. Matched the Booking.com price which was cheaper than the ‘walk in' rate which was very much appreciated under the circumstances and even upgraded the room too. Comfortable, spacious room with king bed and everything we needed. Spacious bathroom, plenty of towels. Housekeeping looked after us very well. The breakfast buffet selection covers all the requirements one may have. Clean, appetising and well presented. In addition there's an option to order a full English and other cooked dishes. I guess my only thing would be that I would have liked another coffee at breakfast but it was hard to get the attention of the staff (who appeared quite junior and inexperienced) so I left it and they probably did me a favour! The hotel is ideally situated for wandering around town and eating out in the evening plus only a short walk to the ferry terminal. Would recommend and stay again in the future.
Moore's cannot be all things to all men! I have stayed here twice in July. Also been a visitor to the island for over 40 yrs so I know what is available elsewhere. I stayed here to be in the heart of St Peter Por.t Once for a long weekend with my husband in a suite. Excellently appointed with working air-con which we needed as it was during the long heatwave we are still experiencing. Bathroom well equipped with bath and shower cubicle. Housekeeping very good also on my second visit for a week 8 days later. Bedrooms were kept very clean. On my second visit we checked in and the air-con was not working. We asked for a different room but the hotel was full. The next day an engineer got it going but as it was so noisy we struggled to use it. my Mum and I asked for a top sheet to put under our duvets as it was very hot. The housekeeper was very good and supplied them. HOWEVER we would not have needed to ask had our air-con in the twin room actually worked! The room was also on the back next to the extractor fan for one of the kitchens. We couldn't sleep with it on! We were given a fan which helped a little. Breakfast was poor - tinned fruit and very little choice of yogurts or pastries. Moore's may not be the dearest but it claims to be a good hotel. Does a hotel need 3 bars in various different styles?? I did really like JJ Parkers Bar. The staff really make this place. I cannot praise the young team including Stuart enough. They are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The kitchen behind the glass is interesting to see. The quality of the wine is good. The cellar bar I looked at but did not use. Parkers is popular with locals as the hotel is in the centre of town. Best atmosphere is here. The Hideaway in on the patio and drinks and food are available here. Interestingly you can have a lovely fruit salad all fresh including strawberries here yet this is not available in the Conservatory at breakfast!! My husband and I did not have an evening meal in the conservatory but my Mum and I had one. The food itself was ok. Not so sure about the service. I have stayed in many high-end hotels. Do I want someone calling me Madame all the time? The service is certainly not as it could be despite the price of the food and drink. When we said we were not having dessert/coffee but having the rest of our wine in the lounge the head waiter took it through, did not pour it then or through - out the meal. I'm not convinced it needs the Rendezvous bar, when most of the time Parkers is open until late.. We will not stay again as the owners are resting on their laurels regarding paying guests despite investing lots of money in Parkers The hotel guests are their bread and butter financially so should be given the best treatment. Which were not. Avoid room 223 if you do choose to stay here. The suite was good but noisy as it was on the front. Moore's management take note. Being all things to all men does not necessary work!! The positive things are that its in town, housekeeping and Parkers bar staff are good.
Just spent a week here with my granddaughter. Lovely twin room very spacious with very modern bath room. We asked for a quiet room and got it. The breakfast had plenty of choice and food excellent. The conservatory was a beautiful place to eat it. The hideaway was a another place to eat within the hotel. Hotel centrally placed turn left down a small hill and your on seafront. Turn left and walk through the central shopping area. Well placed for ferries to the other islands. Also round the corner from an excellent tourist information building with very helpful staff. The staff at the hotel were all pleasant and the room was spotlessly cleaned every day and well equipped. Would recommend it to anyone.
Lovely evening meal in the conservatory with great choice on the menu and amazing friendly service. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend and I will definitely be back.
me and my husband have just returned from a lovely holiday at moores hotel such friendly staff at reception they cant do enough for you and always a lovely smile to greet you and thank you to Geraldine for the lovely roses in our room and what can i say about the restaurant staff especially gaul and manious hope i have spelt their names correct they were so helpful in giving us a special table which we liked to sit at as it has fond memories for me of my mum who used to love going to moores and visited many times the food is excellent and a good selection as well as the breakfast menu the whole hotel is spotless and we will look forward to going back next year once again thank you to everyone
My family booked two rooms but the hotel never sent an e-mail confirmation; we had to chase them for it. When the ferry broke down 24 hrs before their trip, my family could not come to Guernsey from France and the hotel refused to repay them a full refund. The staff were misleading, saying my family had booked the room through Booking.com and therefore, under the terms and conditions, they could not give us a full refund. When I mentioned that this was not the case and that my family had called the hotel directly to make the reservation (and not used Booking.com) the staff became rude and dismissive. I will never recommend to any of my friends or family to stay there, or use this place for Business meetings if I can avoid it. There are many other hotels with nicer staff, such as at the Duke of Richmond Hotel, Fermain Valley Hotel, the Old Government House, etc. Very disappointing.
Stayed here last week in the heatwave; the chambermaid provided a top sheet instead of the duvet - nice touch. The food was superb and all the staff were charming and friendly. Restaurant staff remember what you ordered, and even brought back my half-used fizzy water bottle the following evening nicely chilled. I can't fault this place, and the location is great for access to town and the boats to other islands. A good base for walking and there's lots to see.
Great location comfy rooms and good showers if a bit old fashioned and beds vare comfy. V clean. Superb breakfast lunch and dinner lovely terrace The staff are greatest asset nothing is too much trouble. Made our stay v special. It's v central and maybe slightly noisy Saturday night but all dies down by midnight. We enjoyed our stay
Conveniently located. Amazing staff are very courteous and polite compare to some places that I have visited recently one that is recent four-star Le Fregate absolutely disgusting behaviour from the general manager very very very rude. thoroughly enjoying my stay here every time I come back they welcome me with open arms never had a problem with food or the room even though they're not up-to-date interior they are spotlessly clean not like the above hotel le Fregate I visited recently which was filthy dirty. The waiting staff are absolutely amazing to give you an extremely warm welcome and can't do enough for you. I look forward to coming on the weekly basis now .
Great hotel in centre of town with friendly staff and a daily changing dinner menu. The hotel is near the front and handy for most attractions and the bus terminal is about five minutes walk away with ferry trips to Sark and Herm nearby
This hotel was perfect, on the high street, proper welcome, lovely room, good food and nothing was to much trouble for the staff all very friendly and efficient. Would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.
We spent 4 nights here in June, and enjoyed probably the best hotel holiday we have ever taken. I cannot praise the staff at the hotel highly enough for the service they provided. Our room was very comfortable, well appointed and the bathroom had a good strong shower and all the niceties that one might expect. Additionally the room had an ironing board, and iron and trouser press. Not regular fixtures. The staff on reception were always helpful and keen to please, as were all the staff in the dining facilitates. I loved the ambience of this hotel. Although it's now part of the Best Western chain, it maintains many features of the old independent hotel. It has that traditional feel and quality of service. It's very well positioned in the centre of St Pater Port, and everything about it spells out charm and service. We just loved it and shall most certainly return.
My mother and I stayed at Moores Central Hotel for a week in May/June. It is difficult to fault this hotel, everything was of a very high standard. Although rated 3 stars I would give it 5 stars for service and cleanliness and 4 stars for décor and bedroom spaciousness. The staff were polite, helpful and efficient in reception and at breakfast. We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but the breakfast choice was very good with pleasant sunny tables. We did eat in the Hiding Place where the food was the best we had in Guernsey. Our room was large with two comfortable chairs, twin beds and a decent sized bathroom (bath and shower). The location is conveniently situated in the centre of St Peter Port; the only problem was my mother's mobility as there is hilly walking to the quayside and bus station. I would strongly recommend Moores for anyone visiting St Peter Port.
We have stayed overnight before at this hotel, very well situated for the ferry to Sark and for walking around the shops and the harbour and always request the same room on the second floor (309) with a view out towards Herm and Jersey. Room very comfortable and well appointed. Staff extremely helpful. 3-course dinner excellent for quality, choice - and price.
The hotel is well situated in town on the high street and where a number of financial businesses are based. Inside it has a very grand decor; some of the rooms look like they are from a county manor house. Although rooms are a bit dated they still have everything you need. The staff are very helpful which makes up for any other failing.
My husband and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Best Western Moores Central hotel in Guernsey. The hotel's location is fantastic, right in the centre of St Peter's Port close to the harbour with many cafes/restaurants and the main shopping centre. On arrival we were warmly welcomed at reception and although we had been promised room 105, an executive king we were told it was unavailable. We were given a choice of two rooms to compensate and we chose room 104 which was very spacious with a double and a single bed. It was very clean and had a useful fridge and a safe. The room was warm so we asked for a fan which was brought immediately. The only downsize was that it was overlooking the terrace and close to a bar and was occasionally a little noisy. We decided to go half board which meant we could take our evening meal in the hotel or at Les Rocquettes or the Best Western De Havelet. We ate in all three. The breakfast and the evening meal at the Moores were very good. The big plus of this hotel is the excellent customer service. The restaurant staff in particular were superb, very friendly, very accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. We had a very good time at the Moores and would recommend this hotel to anyone. If we return to the island we would definitely stay here again, maybe next time in a suite with air conditioning and a harbour view.
stayed for 3 nights at the end of April. There is no doubt the hotel is in a great location right in the centre of town. The hotel is attractive and has good facilities. The restaurant staff were amazing, so friendly and professional, the food was outstanding! Such a difference to the hotel staff who could barely raise there heads up to acknowledge us. I was really disappointed with our double room no.209. It was one of the smallest rooms I've stayed in with a tiny window and a few niggly maintenance issues. The hot tap barely trickled out any water, wobbly toilet seat and stained carpet. Worse was the very soft and worn mattress not very comfortable! Our room was also right next to a staff room so you could hear noisy chattering of staff first thing in the morning. How odd to have a guest room next door to a busy staff room.
It's in the name certainly central to the town, harbour & short walk to bus services. Clean & comfortable with friendly helpful staff. Would definitely use this hotel again it is set right next to local shops cafe's & restaurants. Great choice when you visit guernsey.
Moores is a good central place to stay especially if you are in St Peterport on business or on a short break. You can walk everywhere from the hotel. My large double room was comfy and quiet. There is an onside restaurant. Ask for a backside top floor room if you like quiet. Its a good choice all round.
Having delayed our visit for a week due to the bad weather we eventually arrived in Guernsey for our weekend break, We were given directions to the hotel by our booking agent which were not to precise, However we did manage to find the hotel after a while and as the hotel had no parking after we unloaded our bags we then had to take the car to the Harbour car park which was a 10m walk back to the hotel, And this was the only downside to the hotel, As the hotel was situated right in the heart of the shopping Restaurant & bar area the hotel was exceptionally clean as was Guernsey it self the staff at the hotel were very helpful & friendly the Breakfast were excellent & dinners were very good & reasonably priced for the quality of them, However the drinks were a little expensive but no more then normal hotel prices, On the whole everything was very good & we will be going back to the same hotel again maybe even later this summer / autumn
All in the title. There was a corridor that was very cold on my way to my room which is a bit frustrating. The staff was lovely. I wish i asked one of the girls out to dinner but I was burdened with too many thoughts.
The staff really make this place. By the time I left I almost felt like one do the family. The hotel itself is fine and has everything I needed. It's also clean. The location is also great. My only complaint was that the cooked breakfast didn't include baked beans (hardly worth mentioning) although had I asked I imagine they'd have organized that for me. Thank you to all the staff who who worked so hard to make my stay a good one.
You'd walk past without noticing it's a hotel. A town house from the outside but once inside, a charming house of character lovingly, painstakingly renovated at considerable expense and with loads of perfectionism. Family owned and run, founded by the late father of the present owner and ambitiously embellished with admirable consistency, year after year. No resting on their laurels, no cutting corners, no creaming off of profits to line private pockets....pure and genuine hotelier idealism shows in every detail. The dining room is now fully fetched into a conservatory that has been beautifully integrated with the old rooms. Light-flooded, inviting, appetising. The location makes hiring a car superfluous. All activities and sightseeing is at an arm's length. The food is delicious, the breakfast leaves no wish undone. The staff is so well trained and so naturally polite that it is almost embarrassing to ask for anything! You just can't go wrong at The Moores.
Great location in the heart of St. Peter port town, easy access to any location , as with any best western excellent customer service , private bar and good food , nice breakfast buffet and relaxing atmosphere
Stayed one night. Good location on the high street. Had s quiet room located at back of hotel. Comfortable bed , room spacious enough although a little stuffy in the night with the central heating on. Breakfast was good; fresh coffee and decent cooked breakfast. All of the staff I encountered during my stay where helpful and friendly which was a plus. My only gripe was the lack of an iron in the room and then having to go downstairs to ask for one at reception as not possible to call from room. Would recommend this hotel for short stays, business or pleasure, as good value.
Return visit. Room was on 3rd floor- double bed but room really suitable for single person which was fine for me. Bathroom was up to date and very clean. Internet connection ok. However the floorboards in my room were very squeaky - just hope it did not affect guests underneath. Pleasant meal- their Christmas meal was on offer which was 4 courses. Well cooked and fresh items. They had a very nice Shiraz wine which I enjoyed. Hotel remains so handy for the town centre.
The hotel is little bit old fashioned, but it adds charm to the experience. The main reason I choose to stay in Moores Central was location as it is ideally positioned in the of St. Peters port. The prices seems to be great value for money and in comparison room and service was on par or even better than more expensive hotels (Duke of Richmond and La Fregade to name the few). As all Best Western Hotels Moores Central has certain character which I kind of like it. I think it is more suitable for family holidays, rather than a business trip, but there were no place where I could fault the hotel.
Spent 2 nights in a suite , was made to feel welcome as soon as i arrived , the suite on the 3rd floor (318 i think) was well furnished Service throughout my stay , Breakfast was good , cooked to order , Wifi was a little hit and miss , but worked the majority of the time. The Highlight was room service , we ate in the suite one night , i have to stay its the best room service i have had in years , price was reasonable and everything cooked fresh Stay - you wont regret it
Stayed in room 103 which was adjacent to the roof terrace, access was somewhat bizarre having to go through a number of doors and the eating areas. Only a quick one night stay so perhaps could not fully appreciate the surroundings, situated right in the centre and was somewhat noisy early morning. My breakfast was ok but my colleague had eggs Benedict which he said was poor and probably should have been sent back but we were on a time line.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels this year on business trips, but I think the Moores Hotel is my favourite. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food on offer in the bar is superb value for money, and the staff at breakfast were lovely. It is quiet, comfortable and clean -and everything feels looked after, therefore you feel welcome and looked after as a guest. I would happily book this hotel again for future trips.
Lovely hotel in St Peters port. I stayed on the top floor and didnt see the lift but apparently they have one!! Rooms were fine, clean and well provisioned for my one night stay. The view out to sea was amazing, worth the trip to the top of the hotel... Breakfast was very good and the service there was great. Best I have had for a long time.
We recently celebrated my parents 80th birthdays in The Conservatory Restaurant at Moores Hotel. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Overall one of our family's favorite venues
I have been staying at Moore's on and off for the last 6 months for business and for weekends with my partner. The staff at this hotel are amazing - they can't do enough for you and I've felt relaxed and at home enough when staying here on my own that I practically wander round in my pj's and they treat me like part of the Moore's family. I'll be sad to say goodbye to everyone. The hotel is perfectly formed and placed. Many happy memories here.
Comfortable room, fantastic breakfast and fab location. All this made more special by the warm welcome from the staff, all bent over backwards to make our stay a wonderful experience. We will be back soon
The staff at The Moore's offer excellent customer service, nothing is too much trouble. Great location to explore St Peter Port and the island. A spacious family room which was clean, fabulous breakfast and a hearty Sunday roast, would recommend to all, have fun!
I stayed here for 2 nights on business. I had room 311 at the back of the hotel, which was spacious, spotlessly clean, warm and very quiet. The bed was super comfy, hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the room. Also a selection of teas and coffee, hot chocolate and little biscuits. The bathroom had a shower only, which was warm and had good water pressure. Plenty of storage space and hangers in the wardrobe for unpacking. Breakfast was really good with a continental buffet selection and a few good choices for cooked breakfast. Dinner was delicious and the restaurant staff, especially Sara and Mateusz very attentive and welcoming - a real credit to the hotel. Check in and check out was easy and quick, and the reception staff lovely and helpful. Location of the hotel is excellent just in the town centre stepping out onto lovely cobbled street and 2 minutes stroll to the port with beautiful views. There's M&S food store couple of minutes walk away. I had a lovely stay, felt welcomed and well looked after by the hotel staff. Hoping to be able to come back sometime on holiday. Guernsey is a true beauty, safe and people are really friendly :)
I pick this hotel because it's always a good price and is a great location right on the High Street. So if price and location are important, then this hotel is a winner. The only downside is the general standard is average - just a bit dated and old style - especially the standard rooms.
This is a very central hotel for St Peter Port. The staff were really excellent and remembered conversations of the previous day with you. Large room with good sized bathroom. Nice Jacuzzi and fitness room. The only downside was the room we had was at the front of the hotel which was noisy from the street at night.
It is really difficult to find fault with this hotel. The rooms were clean and offered a good sea view. Meals were well cooked and presented. All round a very good place to stay. Easy access to the whole island by bus.
Visually great. Halls, bar and restaurant decor and feel are really good. Breakfast, average. Poor quality sausage, and my personal favourite faux pas is hard boiled poached eggs...... Rooms: Clean, and useable. However there appears to be a gulf of quality between them. Beds are good quality however and I would stay again. Staff: Reception staff: excellent. Waiting staff : ok/ good.
Very pretty outside, bigger than it looks once inside. We had a good sized room and a nice big bathroom. The bed was huge and comfy and the rooms were clean and well looked after by the housekeeping staff. Our room was nice and quiet but I spoke to other guests who said the rooms at the front of the hotel are noisy. The staff were just so nice and very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you, ten out of ten to the staff. There was a freshly cooked breakfast with plenty to choose from. There was a nice terrace to sit outside in the sunshine with plenty of seating. The food in the bar was excellent and we ate there a few times during our stay. The prices for both the food and drinks was very reasonably priced. The hotel is ideally situated for the town and sea front and restaurants. Just enjoyed our stay here so much we will certainly return in the near future.
Ideally located, interesting period features, spotlessly clean, v comfy bed, sea view, very well equipped gym, trencherman's English breakfast, friendly and helpful staff - the whole package. Only one niggle: £153 for one person is a little on the pricey side, even for Guernsey.
#Naughty. A bit naughty of the hotel to provide us with a Superior Double room when we had booked (and paid) for an Executive Kingsize room. The reception staff insisted the bed was a kingsize (it wasn't) and were unable to move us to another room as they were fully booked. We were given the opportunity to move to a room that ‘definitely has a king size bed' on our last day. We declined the offer as we were checking out the following morning. They did apologise when we checked out (Apologised for what? You were insistent we were in the room we booked?). We were advised by our agent to provide them with photographs and measurements of the bed and we will be requesting a part refund of the room charge. #Nice. The room (no 103) was in a small annex which could only be reached by walking across an outside terrace. The room was clean and comfortable and contained all we required (apart from a king size bed). The bathroom was also clean and functional and met our requirements. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the seafront and there are numerous shops and restaurants close by. #Noisy. Town centre hotels can be prone to noise from the street, and that was the case with this hotel. A neighbouring pub was extremely noisy until the early hours of the morning over the weekend period – until 1.30am on Saturday night. We were also disturbed by staff at the hotel - the Hideaway Bar being prepared in the morning by staff talking outside our room window in a very loud voice and bottle's being disposed of by the bar staff after midnight. I understand it may be difficult to control noise generated out on the street, but the hotel staff should be aware of keeping noise disturbance to the minimum.
A traditional hotel with lots of character. The Suite was amazing lots of little extras and so spacious. Food very good and don't miss the health Suite. A great base to explore whilst being central. Take advantage of the complimentary island coach tour if you are able.
We were there for 7 days. The central location meant a short walk to the shops, bus station or island ferries. Couldn't fault the amenities, cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. Next time we are going to have a suite!
This fine elegant hotel is situated in the historic centre of town. The professional and friendly staff really made our holiday, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food and service in the restaurant made our dining experience a delight for all meals in the day. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with all amenities catered for. The Sanctuary Health Suite with its jacuzzi was a firm favourite. Highly Recommended.
This was not our first leisure visit to Guernsey but our first stay at the Best Western MOORES Hotel This hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the main shopping area of St.Peter Port with shops and restaurants right on the door step. The bus terminal, taxi rank, and Island ferry services are a 5-10 minute stroll away, with the bus terminal being accessed via the traffic free pedestrian shopping area. This hotel is in an excellent location. We received a warm and friendly welcome at reception, and immediately found the staff welcoming, friendly and very helpful; nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a well established building offering character that you would expect from a hotel of its age. The decor of all the public rooms, and in particular the Conservatory Restaurant, complements the overall ambience of this lovely hotel. We found all the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. Our Class A room was spacious and immaculately clean and well presented. We found the room to be very comfortable. The daily housekeeping could not be faulted. The main restaurant, The Conservatory, is a very attractive and welcoming dinning room. We found all the dining room staff to be, friendly, courteous and very professional. It became very obvious that the maitre d` managed his restaurant in a friendly but efficient manner, making dining, a very enjoyable experience. The standard of the food was excellent and well above the normal 3 star hotel standard. The LIBRARY bar and the RENDEZVOUS bar both offered a slightly different character and environment to that of the main hotel, but in doing so complemented the overall ambience of the hotel. We found the service offered by the bar staff to be very friendly, and the available lunch time food in the Library bar to be of excellent value. From the friendly staff and excellent dining experience to the ideal central location, we will happily return and recommend this hotel.
Located right in the heart of town with shops, supermarkets, restaurants, buses, ferries and historical attractions. Very friendly accommodating staff. Decent size room with a king size bed and full bathroom facilities (bath and shower). Comfortable and clean. Wonderful continental and cooked breakfast in a beautiful room. Hotel has 2 restaurants both of which are very nice. I thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel.
Reviews has said this before but the marvellous aspect of this hotel is its staff, friendly helpful and service as a a byword. The seafood menu is excellent, in terms of selection, quality and value and always severed with a smile. Located in the centre of town it manages well all the aspects that such a location brings. I you want a hotel that offers something worthwhile with a smile, reasonably priced and good food look no further.
Whichever way you cut it, accommodation in Guernsey is expensive. So if you're going to be spending c.£150 per night, why not get the best value for money? Moore's Central is a traditional, smart (but never stuffy) hotel, right in the centre of St. Peter Port. Its perfect location a few streets back from the harbour means that, unlike many other hotels in town, it is easy to walk to and not at the top of a big long hill. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Gul who runs the breakfast service is charming and hilarious in equal measure - if you stay here make sure you get breakfast included in your rate, or you'll be seriously missing out. I've stayed at more modern hotels (some of the room furnishings are a bit dated), cheaper hotels, more expensive hotels, even hotels with aircon(!) but Moore's is unique in the way it pulls everything together to make a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. I freely confess this is my number one go-to accommodation whenever i'm visiting the Rock. As other reviewers have commented, the rooms at the front do pick up a bit of noise from the street in the evening, but this is only to be expected. There is no loud music, very little vehicle noise, and it's usually all quiet by midnight.
Hotel is central to the main shopping area and marina. I found the check in staff friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The meal in the bar was good. The complimentary breakfast had a reasonable range and was of a good standard in a nice setting. My room was of a reasonable size, with modern furnishings and bathroom. All in all a pleasant stay.
Finally found the perfect hotel. Stayed here for a week with husband to island hop. Hotel right in the middle of it all, really close to parking ,which once you get your head around the zones it's easy. Yes it can be boisterous in the town late at night and you can hear it at times, but we just shut the window and it was fine. The hotel can't help what happens elsewhere. On arrival we had a very friendly welcome and we were checked in quickly and went straight to our room. We had room 205. Absolutely spotless and the en suite , and it stayed that way all week. Housekeeping were very good every day. We really liked the jacuzzi and sauna and tried to use it every day, it was all so clean. Breakfasts were excellent, good choice of both the buffet and cooked option, everything was well cooked and presented on hot plates. Lovely laid tables and good quality napkins and cutlery etc.We ate in the restaurant 4 times during the week and it did not disappoint , table de hote menu changed daily and an al a carte , so something for everyone. We ate off both menus and the food was excellent, fresh and local produce that tasted amazing. BUT the best thing about this hotel is the staff team. Never in all our travels have we encountered such an amazing staff team, every single member of the staff were polite, friendly and just wanted to make the stay special.. It was so refreshing. We had a bereavement whilst staying and they were so considerate and caring, I really appreciated it. We were really sad to leave at the end of the week but we are determined to go back , mainly because of the excellent customer service this hotel provides. I'd give this hotel 10 stars if I could.
It was extremely difficult to cancel the reservation. I tried the internet page that came up when I clicked the box on the confirmation email but there was no way that I could find where to cancel on that page. I rang the Best Western number on the confirmation email only to be told that the number was not for the Best Western hotel I had booked. I was given a UK phone number to call. I called the number I had been given. I called five times within half an hour. The call was never answered. In desperation I then called the Trip Advisor US number. The call was instantly picked up by Donna who cancelled the reservation in less than a minute and also sent me a confirmation which I received instantly. MY THANKS TO TRIP ADVISOR AND DONNA.
Centrally located in St Peter Port near Ferries to Sark, Herm, Jersey, France and England also local to shops l, restaurants and busses. Rooms are clean and have been renovated since we were there 8! Years ago. The bar is also well stocked with a nice range of single malts at a reasonable price. On the minus side the rooms are like a sauna. They provide you with a fan but that hardly cools. The Windows hardly open so there's virtually no fresh air. We could hardly sleep all week due to the high temperature in out room. They badly need air conditioning / climate control fitted urgently l.
It lives up to its name as it is in the centre of town, so easy to walk to harbour, shops and bars &restaurants. Hotel is really nice, a lovely old building inside and out. Everywhere is clean &well looked after. Staff very welcoming and I can honestly say the service from all the staff is exceptional. We were there for a long weekend to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. Our children rang the hotel and paid them for a bouquet of red roses and a bottle of wine for our room (as a surprise). They also printed up a lovely card from our children & also from them! As the roses were so lovely I wanted to take them back home but not sure if I was allowed to take them on the plane. Judith on reception offered to phone the airline and ask! Which she did so I was able to take them home. Food- breakfast excellent, good buffet and different hot choices including fish, which you order to be cooked fresh. Food in the Library bar also excellent, really good standard. Lots of choice including a really good carvery, all at good prices. Dinner in the Conservatory restaurant delicious. Could not fault it. They do al la carte, a special 2 or 4 course summer fish menu and daily 3 course dinner. All good prices. All in all a fab weekend and would highly recommend the hotel and staff.
Stayed with a relative while visiting son. Excellent location near the water front. Had a superior room at the back of the building, spacious. Breakfast was excellent with wide choices available. Staff helpful and very friendly. Would stay again
We stayed for a week during a week of hot weather at the beginning of July. Decent sized room on the top floor but very warm at night. Couldn't get the old aircon unit working so the heat and noise from the street until the early hours (Fridays and Saturdays) made for a disappointing start. However this was fixed for the rest of the week, if still rather inefficient. That said, the hotel is lovely and really convenient for the harbour front and cobbled main street. Plenty of decent restaurants to choose from, although the Conservatory Restaurant in the hotel was excellent, and served a good breakfast in a bright room. Staff were helpful in booking us a taxi home and storing luggage. I would return.
I visited Moores with my partner. I was recommended Moores to stay in. Unfortunately our room was at the front of the hotel which meant that on Friday and Saturday night we were subjected to revellers in the street. On Sunday we thought it would be quieter and it was to a degree but at 4.45am a bin lorry parked up outside for 10 minutes with all the associated noise. On the whole if you are going to stay here you will need to ask for a room at the back. I don't think we will be visiting this hotel again despite the staff being very friendly no helpful.
We stayed in room 306 on the third floor from Monday 31.07.17 to Friday 04.08.17. Room lovely with double aspect so lovely and light and as it was at the back of the hotel very quiet as well. Room had a lovely big bed and nice seating area. Ironing board and good hair dryer. Housekeeping was excellent spotlessly clean. Food very good we ate twice in the Library Bar and breakfast each morning was freshly cooked to order and excellent in lovely surroundings. On one rainy day I used the sauna and it was very good excellent gym as well. There are two other hotels in the group and at least one has a full size pool and a free bus put on by hotel can take you and bring you back at certain times. Also which was fab is that the hotel put on a free trip around Guernsey which was very good and so interesting. The tours are twice a week I think only in summer but you would have to check but well worth doing. The hotel is so central in St Peter's Port. The shops are outside of the hotel and main bus station only a very short walk away. The bus service is the best £1 for any journey so you can go around the entire Island for £1 or just one stop for a £1 and the everyone is so helpful. Staff are so friendly and this hotel has a lovely feel that is down to the staff who will and do go the extra mile. Lovely stay and cant wait to come back soon many thanks to everyone at Moores for a great stay.
we have just returned from another lovely stay at this lovely hotel we really cant fault it down to the room which over looked the harbour the lovely lady that cleaned our room everyday the reception staff were very pleasant and I have to say the conservatory restaurant is a must the food is excellent and all the staff were lovely and friendly and went out of they way to help with anything we wanted to say a special thank you to the lovely Gaul and Sara and Alan who kindly took my daughter to hospital so we didn't have to wait for a taxi we cant wait to return next year would definitely recommend this hotel if your thinking f a holiday in Guernsey
Lovely small hotel. very good half board option- food even better than last visit. located in centre of St Peter Port. The class a rooms are bigger and have more facilities. Smaller rooms are fine for single travellers. I wold gladly recommend. ..
Cost £160 for one night in a double room. VERY hot in third floor bedroom. Asked for and promptly received a fan which provided a little relief. Unfortunately it vibrated itself off the table. Room fairly spacious, but half occupied by comfortable king-size bed. Wi-fi very poor. Reception said we should have asked to have a reboost, but I've done that before in Best Western hotels, with zero effect. Breakfast good. Staff professional and polite. Conclusion: very expensive for what we received.
We had a lovely week at the Moores. The position is good for all amenities. We had a room at the back which was quiet,it was very clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to you all. We will certainly recommend the hotel to our friends.
This hotel is very centrally situated. There is no parking nearby but it is easy enough to pull in by the main entrance and unload and find parking about 300-500 yards away. This hotel was amazing - the staff were incredibly polite and always willing to help. The level of cleanliness was exceptional. There are a number of lifts so neogtiating the different floors was not an issue. There are several associated eateries all of which were excellent. Rooms were well planned, beds very comfortable; all windows opened and had both blinds and curtains. Complimentary water and excellent free wi-fi speeds.
Really a charming hotel in the heart of the downtown area. The problems we had are the windows barely opened, and even with a fan provided, the room was extremely hot so it was hard to sleep. Also, the breakfast did not start until 8:00 a.m. which is the latest I have ever seen. If you have any morning flight you can't make the breakfast. We paid quite a lot so being uncomfortable and not getting breakfast made it less worth it. The library bar was wonderful. Great location that can't be beat.
We had a marvelous stay at Moores. The position is perfect, the food is excellent and the staff are just great. The beds are extremely comfortable for us and the breakfast offers vegetarian options too. I personally prefer to stay in a front room but they are obviously noisier. The rear room we had this time was very quiet - also very hot, but we were given two fans! The restaurant is lovely, as is the Library Bar, where Bogdan the barman was very friendly and looked after us well. All in all a wonderful stay and a big thank you to duty manager Stephen Purtill and his team. We will be back!!
Stopped off in Guernsey whilst on a cruise. Love Best Western hotels so went here for a drink. Lovely ambience, friendly staff. Situation in the town is great for shopping and sightseeing. We hope to go and stay for a holiday.
This holiday being our 40th Wedding anniversary we wanted to visit Guernsey and make this a special trip, so we choose the Best Western Moores hotel as our base for the week on the island. Having just completed our holiday we want to thank the hotel and their staff for giving us a really great anniversary holiday. From the ladies on reception to all the restaurant staff and in particular Gull the manager of the restaurant, he and his team were very good in looking after us nothing was too much for them in looking after our needs, and cannot thank them enough. With the location of the hotel a short walk to the harbour and in the middle of the St Peter port made a great base to explore the island.
We stayed at the Moores hotel for a week in late June. It is in a good central location, just a short walk from the harbour and the main shopping street. The rooms are well appointed although the top floor was rather hot as we stayed during a particularly hot week. We were half board and were delighted with the quality of the evening meals. The 3 course table d'hote menu was varied and excellent. For the same price we also had access to two courses from the summer seafood menu. The oysters and the lobster are highly recommended. Breakfasts were also good with silver service for cooked choices. The staff were all charming and very helpful. We would have no hesitation in staying at the Moores hotel again if we revisit the charming island of Guernsey.
We spent a pleasant 5 days at the Moores. We had a spacious, clean and comfy room. All the staff we met were friendly and obliging. We stayed on a B&B basis and breakfasts were very good. We mostly ate our evening meals in different restaurants but did eat at the hotel on our last evening and enjoyed the food. The hotel is very conveniently placed, within easy reach of shops, restaurants, the bus terminus and the harbour. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the island
We have just returned from a week at Moores hotel in Guernsey. What a wonderful week we had. When we booked last year we mainly chose this hotel because it was not at the top of a hill as are most of the hotels in St Peter Port. As we intended walking around the coastal paths using the bus we didn't fancy climbing up to a hotel after a long day. So to find it turned out to be such a great hotel was a real bonus. The room we had was 228 and it was lovely and large beautifully decorated it overlooked a small roof courtyard that was covered in tubs and hanging baskets. Although not the gratest of views they had gone to a lot of trouble to make it as pleasant as possible. The staff were exceptional always smiling pleasant and helpful in every way without exception. The young ladies at reception went to great lengths when I booked to find just the right room for us. The dining room staff couldn't do enough to make your stay as happy as they could. The meals were of a very high standard. At breakfast the selection was large and varied I don't think there was any thing missing what ever your taste. I myself do not eat cooked breakfast but my husband did and he said it was cooked to perfection, not greasy or over cooked. We only found one small niggle for us the coffee was too strong, but we all have different tastes and it must be difficult to please everyone. We had tea instead so no problem. I would recommend anyone to stay here when visiting Guernsey. We were really happy with our choice. We have traveled quite a bit all over the world so we know a good hotel when we find one. Try and have a meal on the terrace, weather permitting, it is very pleasant. Because we enjoyed our stay so much we have booked for next year so that has to tell you how happy we were with Moores hotel.
Best hotel to date nothing was a trouble all staff friendly and helpful.the room was like a suite very spacious and spotless and comfortable. A very good position just a couple of minutes from the front and marina's. The food was delicious always presented beautifully and a good variety of very good quality food. We ate in the library bar at night and the food was good and very good value. A lovely terrace for mourning coffee and afternoon tea.cannot find any fault at all. Good transfer from airport by taxi a!though there is a good bus service .good
This is my second time to this hotel last year I stayed on my own this time I went with my parents.. We stayed just for 3 nights when we checked in we were welcomed back as old friends even though I was the returning guest I had a basket off fruit in my room and my parents had a bunch of flowers with a card saying welcome back and a letter from the owner saying the same . The staff are much the same as last time and the ones that remembered me made me welcome like a old friend the new members of staff were of the same high standard. They managed to cater for what ever my parents asked for even when they asked for some thing slightly different with the menu to what was on the menu. As for the rooms they were of an excellent standard my parents even had their own patio (room227) . The reception staff even enrolled me in the Best Western reward program for me and when we left asked when I would be returning to which I said I would return on day perhaps next time I will have my sister and brother in law with me an excellent hotel all round in the hart of St Peter port and a few minuets walk from the harbour.
We stayed here as a large family party celebrating a special birthday. The hotel is in an excellent location and a stone's throw from restaurant's cafe's and shops. Our room was lovely, spacious and clean however, I would not advise being at the front on a Friday and Saturday night due to high level noise. We also had particularly hot weather during our stay (which was great) and had to have the windows open as there was no air conditioning (only a fan). The amenities of the hotel were very good and had a very nice bar for pre/after dinner drinks. The restaurant was good with friendly helpful staff. However, I would say that on our second morning they appeared to have run out of pastries/croissants and were not upfront about it which was a little annoying. Overall the hotel was lovely and the staff (in particular the Manager) were excellent and we would definitely stay again should we be in Guernsey. Thank you!
Ideally situated for exploring the town, close to a bus stop for visiting the rest of the island (and not far from the main bus terminus) and near to the harbour for boats to Herm and Sark. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room (superior) was very comfortable and at the back as we had requested a quiet room. It had air conditioning which was much appreciated as we were there during the recent very hot weather. There was a good selection at breakfast with fresh fruit salad rather than the usual tinned in so many hotels. We ate in the Hideaway one lunchtime and had a very good lunch at a reasonable price. There is a courtesy bus to the sister hotel (where there is a pool) several times a day and a free tour of the island for guests on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. However, it may be a good idea to book this prior to your stay as we arrived early evening on a Tuesday, asked to book the tour for the Thursday on the Wednesday to be told it was full.
The Moores hotel is on a lovely street on the hill above the harbor at St. Peter Port, with restaurants, shopping, many attractions just a stroll away. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms quite nice. I may be a bit biased as we selected a lovely, spacious suite with views of the town and harbor beyond. I could live in that suite. There are a couple of bars, a restaurant and a delightful terrace if the weather is fine. We ate only breakfasts in the restaurant, taking our evening meals elsewhere. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. Not write-home-about, but very good. In one of the bars we had pub grub which was very nice. One of the servers just sparkled and really seemed to enjoy her job, while another appeared to be having a bad day. There is only one lift and quite a few stairs to upper floors so the lift can be busy, but there was never a long wait. We would return there without hesitation should we re-visit Guernsey. Highly recommended.
We have just stayed 3 days at this 3 star hotel and were very impressed. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, the noisy bathroom fan was fixed as soon as they were informed. All the staff were helpful and friendly and the food both in the bar and up in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is centrally positioned for shopping and booking trips from the harbour.
All round excellent hotel in central convenient location. Spacious room, comfortable bed, lovely food in the restaurant served beautifully by courteous and attentive staff. Hope to return ! 5 star service at a 3 star hotel.
Cannot fault this hotel, good location very central in St Peter Port, close to town centre, harbour and bus terminus. All staff very friendly and helpful, food in all the restaurants excellent. Lovely terrace to sit outside and have lunch or afternoon tea. Rooms all comfortable and clean, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff from the cleaners, bar, restaurant, reception staff and the managers. Although the hotel does not have a pool you are able to use the pool at their other hotel the Havelet which is a lovely pool worth a visit. The hotel also organises a complimentary round the island bus tour twice a week which is also worth using. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Just returned from a 3 day trip in Guernsey. 10 minute taxi ride from airport to hotel which you could not get more central in St Peters port. We arrived to be greeted by the beautiful flower window boxes, exactly as the picture showed. Reception staff were very helpful, we couldn't get in the room until 1pm but happily left luggage and went off to explore. Immediately walked out in to the old cobbled streets of the town. The hotel was welcoming, modern but not contemporary. The twin room was comfortable, noisy bathroom fan but staff had that fixed within hours. No air-conditioning but who would know there was going to be a heat wave! Quiet room as at the back on 2nd floor. Beautiful restaurant with huge balcony for breakfast and evening meals. Two bars, the library bar served food which was lovely. The Rendezvous bar was a little snook type bar to have a night cap. The Hotel had everything and more for our three day trip, would definitely return and fully recommended, thank you.
i have stayed in more comfortable hotels with larger rooms, better car facilities etc but none has matched Moores Hotel for the friendliness and helpfulness of its staff, from Reception to Room Staff, the Restaurant to the porters, each is helpful, polite and caring. This is not to say the hotel isn't good too, rooms are clean, perfectly adequately serviced and the breakfasts, individually prepared to order are outstanding. Access to St Peter Port is easy and convenient though it can be a little noisy Friday and Saturday nights from activity in the adjacent streets.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Reception staff were very friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Only problem was all the pigeons that they feed outside the window, as many as 18 there at once, and a couple sit on window sill, so get woken up early in the morning.Breakfast was good and varied but you have to wait for a table at times, and head waiter forgot all about us one day, he likes a talk with returning guests but neglects his duties at times. All in all if I stayed again in St Peter Port would go to different hotel.
We stayed for one night on our way to Sark so I did not spend too much time researching the hotel beforehand - I just needed somewhere convenient to walk to the ferry the next day. We have stayed in Best Westerns before and know they are generally of a good standard. We were very taken with this hotel and would definitely stay again and for longer. Our bedroom was at the back and so very quiet, but clean and well appointed. The common areas are very attractive, especially the lounge and the restaurant terrace. The staff are all very helpful and took the trouble to advise us that we had left a large (and expensive!) bottle of cologne in one of our rooms. We were able to collect it three days later on our return from Sark. I should also add that the hotel was very accommodating about changing a booking at the last minute, due to family circumstances, when they were not obliged to do so. If you are looking for a comfortable well located hotel in St Peter Port this one would be hard to beat.
It was great here. Nice selection of tea and coffee in the room, the spa felt like a 5 star hotel (fluffy dressing gowns and sleepers provided). Would definitely stay here again. Downside was that during the night when other rooms used the water it made a noise (maybe air in the pipes). It wasn't a huge deal and may have only been in our room but it might bother someone who is a very light sleeper.
A bit of a challenge to reach the hotel as there was a seafront festival in place but we made it! Checked in to the hotel and then found our way to the close by parking by the ferry terminal. A little confusing as some spots were 3 hour or 2 hour and needed a disc, finally figured out it was like the discs used in Germany so that took care of that. Hotel was very nice, spacious room and very clean. Very friendly staff and enjoyed a very nice dinner in the Library bar one night with great staff! This hotel deserves to be a BW plus or more. Only minor issue is that I noticed later that we had been charged for a phone call, we never used the phone.
We chose this hotel because of its central location and were not disappointed. Everyone encountered was very friendly and the dining room staff especially were so solicitous of their guests especially the older ones. The dinners were delicious and the menu over five days varied and very good value .
There are no views from this hotel, just bricks and tarmac and from our small windows, a concrete eating area. The reception was efficient but perfunctory. We carried our own suitcases and had to find our own way to our room, which was accessed via the restaurant!. The room was close to £200 for the one night, with breakfast but not dinner.........for early May, not a bargain. It was not attractive but was functional. No mini bar, but a kettle and powdered coffee supplied. We found it bitterly cold during the night due to seriously flawed design............there was just one radiator but it was totally enveloped by thick floor to ceiling curtains with an enclosed pelmet. This heated the window glass really well BUT ensured that the room stayed cold! Very uncomfortable. Cut the curtains shorter and add a deflector shelf over the radiator and the problem is solved..........sadly, we didn't have any big scissors....and we didn't find out what the problem was until we awoke freezing cold at three o'clock in the morning. The dinner menu was more suited to a Darby and Joan club outing, so we sourced a local Italian restaurant just down the road and that was truly excellent. Breakfast was efficiently served by friendly staff in fine surroundings. Probably the highlight of the visit. In summary, this hotel has all the ingredients to make a splendid souffle but ends up with egg on its face, due to the lack of attention to detail.
Very clean centrally located hotel with friendly staff a good choice of food offer for all tastes in each restaurant as with this well run family hotels as a guest you are made to fill special. The hotel will need to up date the bedrooms over the next year or so.the public rooms have a great charm.
I won't apologise for this being a long review because I don't think a brief one can do this hotel justice and I want to try and really give readers on here a real insight into this hotel. If you look at my other reviews on Trip Advisor you will see that I am always fair and honest with my reviews and if when reading this you think it all seems over positive that's not me being generous its because I could not find anything to be even slightly negative about I have stayed at Moores a number of times in the past but not for many years and particularly not since I started posting reviews on Trip Advisor so although I knew my way around I have reviewed this stay with a very fresh pair of eyes so as to give an honest and unbiased review. I had a 5 night stay this time including Liberation day. Firstly the location: Moores is based less than 3 minutes walk from the seafront right on Le Pollet the lovely picturesque cobbled main high street of the town centre, only authorised cars such as Taxi's are allowed to drive in the pollet so its quiet and peaceful as well as safe as you step out of the hotel. The Bus Terminus is about 10 minutes walk away and buses from there go to everywhere on the island and at just £1 for any trip on the bus its by far the best way to get around the Island Now in regard to cars, if its your choice to hire a car or bring your own then do consider this when booking. There is free timed parking on the main piers nearby and the hotel can give you pass to display that will give you a bit longer but you may prefer to consider one of Moores sister hotels De Havelet just above the town or Les Rocquettes which is still walking distance from the centre of town which both have car parks. Alternatively you could ask them when booking if you can stay at Moores and park your car at one of the other hotels, I would imagine that if there are spaces available they wouldn't mind. Now the hotel itself: I arrived on the early flight from Southampton so was not surprised to find that my room was still occupied, however this did not delay me checking in and my bags were safely locked away in the luggage store allowing me to go up and have a light breakfast (Lovely Eggs Benedict) from the terrace café “The Hideaway”. When my room was ready my bags had already been taken up for me so no need to lug them upstairs. The room was lovely, I had requested a specific room on the front that has a view, you can just hear a bit of activity in the street below (as mentioned in other reviews) but in my opinion so slight it should never affect anyone's sleep. If you are a particularly light sleeper and this worries you then as others have suggested request a room on the back when booking. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a nice table and two chairs, everything was very clean and there is a kettle with a good quantity of drink sachets and also a trouser press with extending ironing board and iron built in which I found very useful. The bathroom was a good size with a powerful mixer shower that held its temperature well and the supply of hot water was constant and quick when the taps are turned on. There was also a nice selection of toiletries and a full size Shower Gel bottle in a holder by the shower, I thought that is a very nice touch as usually hotels give you a small bottle that just about does your face and arms. There were also some face flannels and some very nice quality towels of different sizes. Breakfast in the lovely bright and welcoming Conservatory restaurant is a mix of help your self buffet for cereals, fruit, pastries, cheeses and hams etc…… and table service for a good variety of freshly cooked breakfasts. Dinner in the same restaurant in the evening was superb, they have two menus, a table dote 3 course menu for £22 which is frankly amazingly good value for what is a wide choice of imaginative and exquisite dishes and an A La Carte menu offering even more variety. I am not a great wine drinker so only ordered a glass of House Red but this was very nice and certainly not a cheap plonk. The hotel also has a two bars on the ground floor the larger of which serves very good food for those that want something more casual than the Conservatory Restaurant but still a great choice including a carvery. The second bar is much smaller and is more of a social point for some regular locals and for guests to meet up and chat particularly after dinner. This bar is run by a lovely Italian lady who has been at the hotel for years and works very hard to create a warm social atmosphere and her friendly and chatty personality seems to encourages people to talk to each other which is really nice particularly for someone staying in the hotel on their own. This brings me to what I believe is the hotels biggest asset and that is its staff. Most hotels have one or two particularly good members of staff but I can honestly say that every single member of staff that I had contact with was superb and always seemed genuinely interested in not just doing what was required but going that bit further to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. There seems to me to be a willing rather than obligatory culture of customer service which is so refreshing to find these days. Moores hotel is somewhere that whilst having modern facilities (including a small health suite which I didn't use) has somehow managed to retain the quality of service from the past where the customer really is king and everything is done for you to make you feel like you are staying in a much more expensive hotel and I would recommend this hotel to anyone whether your on holiday or on business. Thank you Moores for a great stay
This hotel encapsulates just what we look for in a hotel when we travel: convenient location, charm and comfort without pretension, comfortable beds, and an extraordinary friendly and helpful staff. Didn't hurt that they have a fantastic breakfast spread in their bright dining room, and a comfortable pub with amazingly good food!
I stayed here last night. From entering reception around 5pm following a business meeting, the greeting that I received made me think that this was a very good choice. The service from all of the staff was friendly and genuine, they really were genuine, not smiling for the sake of it. I decided to have a three course set menu at £22.50 in the Conservatory restaurant (which includes coffee) and was very impressed with presentation and quality. This is a really nice hotel. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log! The same level of friendly service continued over the full English breakfast!
Two nights of excellent accommodation and meals. Staff as friendly and helpful as ever. Excellent room (105), clean warm and very comfortable. Dinner in the conservatory - birthday meal - excellent (crab ran out so lobster substituted in the sea food cocktail!). Dining staff cannot do too much. This morning we missed the fact that on Bank holidays, breakfast starts and hour later! Maitra-de sorted it out and we had our excellent cooked breakfast. Change excellent to 'outstanding' Hopefully my business will bring me back and my wife and I can enjoy another lovely experience.... Thanks
I booked into the Moores too early for my room to be ready. i was greeted by Judith and Raluca, who took my bags from me so I could go to the job I had to do without the hinderance of my bags. When I returned later in the day, my bags had been put in my room for me. Dinner was superb - I had Steak - and was cooked exactly how I liked it. Breakfast was just the same, perfectly cooked and plenty of it. The staff were attentive and saw to my every need. All in all, I will return to this hotel next time I am working in Guernsey or even for a holiday.
My husband and I visited here in April and stayed one night. It was a stopover as we were heading to Herm. We have stayed in a few different places in St. Peter port over the years and wouldn't stay at The Moores again. The staff were unfriendly. The room was small and cramped - better suited to a single traveller. There was no bath. The bed was actually quite comfortable. There is a narrow corridor and as the head of the bed was against the corridor wall it was noisy. The breakfast wasn't great with the staff fairly inattentive. Not worth the money we paid.
A truly excellent family hotel with great staff, good facilities and in the ideal central location Our room was very clean and the bathroom was recently refurbished. Breakfast was as good as I've ever had but the big difference with this hotel is the staff who are without exception friendly and helpful. The library bar and the Hideaway both serve great food. Highly recommended.
Great hotel which is very handy for everything. The food is delicious and the staff really friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure trips as they cater for everyone and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely go back here with my family :)
The location is really good and the hotel is excellent. The showers work well, the staff are very helpful and the breakfast is really great. Is walking distance from most downtown shops and pubs. The WiFi was great and fast. Overall very good value.
Super central with a couple of really nice restaurants a stones throw away. There are also 2 stores selling everything from Meal Deals to shaving cream very close to the hotel. I was fortunate enough to enjoy good weather when I was there so there was no need to explore the selection of board games and books in the library. I feel almost to bad to say it here as the hotel markets itself as a 3 star hotel, but here goes: The hotel is very dated, it feels like you stepped back into 1980something... Having said that, the place was clean and everything worked. The breakfast selection was good and their portions generous.
Stayed here again for 2 nights on a business trip. I like this hotel, the staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. The food is great and breakfast selection is very good. This is what I would call a quirky hotel, ok it's not the most modern but very comfortable and has its classic original charm throughout and that's why I like it. Wifi not so good in the room but good in the bar areas. The location is great right near the harbour areas and shops. I will be returning again in December for another business trip.
Great hotel couldn't have asked for more manager paul was a star might as well been our tour guide as a gay couple sometimes find hotels a bit strange with us but could not have felt more welcome the food was great an all around great experience will definitely be back and finish off our whiskey recommendations from paul
I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip and felt very well looked after. The manager Stephen and his team were absolutely brilliant! From start to finish they couldn't do enough to help. The bar manager was very friendly, welcoming and really flexible to accommodate an unusual request to host an impromptu gathering of a few business associates. It couldn't have gone any better. My room was really comfortable - great bed, fab shower and set at a perfect temperature. All the food was amazing - great choice of cooked breakfast (recommend the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon), the best sausage and mash I've tasted and a spicy twist on a traditional shepherds pie. The atmosphere throughout the Hotel is warm and welcoming. It's beautifully clean throughout and all the staff without exception provide a top quality service. As I understand it, the Moores Central is an independently owned and run hotel. Well done to you all. I will be back very soon and will be recommending you to everyone who's visiting the island!
The hotel is very close to our office but also right at the end of the main shopping high street. Room 202 is at top of 2nd landing facing front. Very quiet. Nice bed and facilities. The lights in the bathroom turn on/ off automatically which is slightly odd and disconcerting when in the shower! Breakfast is always good with full english cooked to order. The cost bar is always nice for a night cap. The hotel is quaint but facilities have been upgraded and it is a good choice
We booked this hotel as a late get away after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and stayed for 5 nights in November 2016, myself my partner and his mother. The hotel is in a superb central location within the heart of St Peter Port, across the road from the sea front and right in the hub of the high street and shops. We arrived to a lovely welcome from the lady on reception who was incredibly helpful and welcoming with a lovely manner. Our rooms, 312 and 314 were situated at the back of the building on the 3rd floor. These rooms were at the back of the building and are quieter then those at the front as they overlook the high street. Both our rooms overlooked a gorgeous little walled garden that was home to a variety of visiting birds which were lovely to hear in the morning. Our rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. Both rooms had very large and comfortable beds, a table and two chairs, drawers, wardrobe and bedside tables. Room 314 had a large tv with various television and radio channels and a ipod docking station/radio that was a very welcome addition to the room as I was able to pop my ipod on when were were relaxing in the room or getting ready to go out. It also has a bath and overhead shower whereas Room 312 had a smaller tv, a clock radio and a shower. The hotel had a small gym area but we didn't have time to use this on this stay. The food at the hotel was amazing. We ate in the lounge bar, restaurant and The Hideaway. Every meal be it breakfast or a main meal in the restaurant, a lunchtime carvery in the lounge bar or a light lunch in The Hideaway were superb. Breakfasts were cooked to order with a buffet for the continental breakfast. The granola, cooked breakfast and eggs benedict were particularly delicious. The carvery was super value and incredibly tasty as was the evening meal in the restaurant. I have to say that the staff in the hotel, be they from reception, breakfast, restaurant, bar, room service, housekeeping, The Hideaway or management were a credit to the hotel and were so helpful and friendly and were always on hand to help. My partners mother had a small issue with a television set and a radiator and these was resolved almost straight away. The hotel is ideally located to explore the town of St Peter Port as I mentioned its right in the heart of the high street and around the corner to the Tourist Information Office and a 10-15 minute walk to the bus terminus. Nearby shops include Marks and Spencer, Next, W H Smiths, the wonderful Creaseys department store, HMV and many many more including several independent shops and eateries and is within walking distance of the castle (15 mins), German military museum (30 mins) Candi Gardens (25mins) and Old Government House (20mins). All in all a cosy, friendly home from home hotel which we will definitely be returning to in the future.
This was the second year running that we had visited this Hotel, the Staff had not changed and it was brilliant, certainly as far as we were concerned. The room was fine although it could be a bit noisy on a Saturday night at the front of the Hotel due to a ' 'bit of revelry' from a club opposite. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful when it came to 'places to visit' etc. We travelled with TITAN Short Break Holidays, so we hope to return at a later date.
Just come back from a family holiday staying at the moores hotel in Guernsey. We had a fantastic time. Travelling with my husband, daughter and son who has autism. The hotel is centrally located in St. Peter port and very close to the shops, ferry terminal, bus terminal, taxi rank, castle cornet & candie gardens. There is an air of happiness which is difficult to describe - it's just so welcoming Staff are so friendly (ALL of them) and they seem genuinely pleased to work there. . Every member of staff we came across were professional, courteous and understanding of my family's needs. Many thanks the head waiter who understood our request for a table in the corner because of my sons condition. He kept this table for us nightly and we were able to relax for a change whilst dining out - a rare occurrence. Stayed in a fantastic room (thanks Zsuzsanna) which was massive. The hotel let us borrow a DVD player and has a wide selection of films to borrow. We ate every night in the conservatory restaurant, the food was out of this world with succulent steaks, lamb and fish cooked to perfection. Patisserie selection of home made desserts were amazing and too tempting - well done to all the chefs. The hotel has an amazing selection of highly talented staff. (Loved the apple strudel). We had planned to eat at least once in the library bar to try the curry made by the Bangladesh chef as this was recommended to us by a local, but never got the chance as my son just loved the conservatory dining room too much - maybe next time? We used the jacuzzi and sauna every day, a welcome treat after treading the cobbles & steps of St. Peter port. (So hilly!). Highly recommend the hotels complimentary mini bus tour of the island & have to say this was the highlight of our 5 day stay. The guy was very informative and took us to places you would never get to on your own. He pointed out things of historical interest you would just pass by had you not been told. Hope they keep this tour and guide as he's a brilliant selling point for the hotel. You can use their sister hotels facilities (pool) but we didn't feel the need as there is enough at the moores to suit everyone. We would as a family highly recommend this hotel and we very much look forward to returning again soon. Only downside was it didn't last long enough and all of us were sad to leave.
We stayed 4 nights here and didn't have to walk more than 5 minutes each night when dining out as everything is so near. The tourist info is less than a 5 minute walk as is the port where you can catch a boat to Sark or Herm, and the bus stop where you can go anywhere on the island. The staff are extremely helpful, breakfast was really nice, we had a full English some days and boiled egg and soldiers on others, the buffet was also very generous. They also have a spa on the second floor. with a gym, sauna & Jacuzzi which is free to guests. We stayed a Saturday night and were shocked by the amount of noise we heard from the town, but we discovered later that there was a local derby football match between Jersey & Guernsey, the other nights were less noisy. Our room was really hot, we had the windows open all the time even thought the radiator wasn't on? However the room was a good size, clean & comfortable with a good shower, and we had a view of the sea (albeit in the distance, but still a nice outlook) the decoration is a little tired inside the room but the breakfast, bar and reception areas are well decorated. If I came back to Guernsey I would choose to stay here.
This hotel is in an excellent location for attractions, the port and local restaurants. Both bars in the hotel offer great service - one a full bar and the other a snug/lounge. The service offered by the receptionists was also excellent. Breakfast service on one morning was one of the worst I've ever experienced anywhere in the world (incredibly slow) but was good on the other two days. I'd booked a twin room, which was comfortable, and it even included two chairs, but it was very small for three nights. If I were to stay again, I'd request a different (hopefully larger) room! It was great to have an iron and an ironing board available in the room. The over-bath shower was excellent: powerful and hot.
Well, what can I say. We found this Hotel by word of mouth. Not being a couple who go cheap, the wife likes her comforts, this is a really nice place to stay. Still family run but under the Best Western banner, it is on the edge of the shopping streets. Lots of Jewellers around but still has all the usual ones. Many restaurants are within walking distance but the Hotels food is very good and fair priced as is the beer in the bar The hotel is on a hill, not sure about accessibility, a thing you would have to ask about before you stay. A lot of the streets are cobbled. The Bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable with all the extra's, tea/coffee, toiletries. The only thing was the linen room was next to it with a noisy door, we did mention this so hopefully this will be fixed All in all, this is a very nice Hotel. The staff are really on top of their game, cannot help you enough. It will be our No1 choice for our next visit
Excellent place to stay either business or vacation. Rooms lovely and clean. Staff very friendly and obliging, Breakfast outstanding. Fully recommend the Library bar for informal dinning. The central location gives access to St Peter Port or the whole island. Not there on Tuesday, but they provide an Island tour. Room walls a little thin as background noise is possible, but like us older couples tend to sleep early so no loud surprises!
Great Sunday 4 course roast at great value. Great service and staff are very polite and very helpful. Food fantastic and very good quality Tables presented lovely and Very clean.. We will be back there again .
Came for a short break to celebrate husbands 'special' birthday. Birthday card and flowers in very comfortable room on arrival. Staff very helpful and obliging. Highly recommend this venue. Thank you one and all.
We stayed here for five nights and had a wonderful time. The room was clean, well equipped and comfortable. It was a bit noisy on the Saturday night and early morning, should have asked for a room in the back of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was part self service, but with the cooked breakfast cooked to order. All the food was great as was the selection of items available. We had a really good stay and would certainly go back again.
The hotel feels like a private house where you are a special guest. Every member of staff greets you with a smile and goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Good size rooms, large soft towels in the bathroom and excellent food
First class hotel but make sure you book a room at the rear as there is so much noise from a night club at the weekends and early morning traffic.Staff and food excellent in conservatory and library bar,
We first stayed at Moores in May 2015, and have just spent 3 nights there again. It is first class in every way. There was a vase of white roses in the room with a note welcoming us back to Moores; the reception staff were so helpful, printing off the flight boarding passes, booking a taxi & answering queries. The Conservatory restaurant staff treated us like valued friends, as they did everybody, and the Library Bar staff were equally friendly. We ate in the Library Bar each evening as it was so relaxed & convivial, rather than hunting a new place each night. The breakfast was terrific with plenty of choice. The housekeeping staff kept the room & bathroom spotless and the shower was great. We were pleased to find air-conditioning in the room as the weather was quite warm. We invited some local Guernsey friends for a cream tea in the Hideaway & sat on the Terrace. The locals also rate Moores very highly. The position of the hotel is superb, with buses, boats, shops all on the doorstep. Really looking forward to our next visit as Moores Hotel is one very good reason to return.
Stayed here for three nights and can't fault it. The quiet room was clean bright and spacious. The central location is great and staff are friendly and helpful. The food is excellent both in choice and presentation, as is the service. I look forward to returning.
Stayed in Moress for 3 nights woth wife. No faults at all. Polite staff, good food, good organisation fantastic localization in Town centre Looking forward to be back next year. Recommend to visit Hide Away for afternoon tea or Coffee.
Stayed at the Moores for one week and had a really pleasant stay. The overall experience was fabulous and I was extremely impressed by the high levels of customer interaction at all. Staff were friendly, attentive and demonstrated a genuine desire to please. Highly recommended!! Just, a note of caution - we stayed in room 105 just off the terrace and had the pleasure of regular early mornings visits from the refuse lorry!! ?? so no need for an early morning call. That said, it was a fantastic week.
We picked the Moores Central because it was close to the ferries. It's an easy walk. We had a pleasant one night stay with breakfast. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Unfortunately it was a warm evening and without air-conditioning we needed the windows open and there was some street noise. Rooms at the back may be quieter. Breakfast was very good with a great choice and professional, attentive service. We'd be happy to stay again.
Good morning all you wonderful People at Moores Best Western Guernsey, After returning home to Ireland I felt it necessary to extend a huge Thank you to everyone at Moores Hotel for making our trip a most memorable one. Coming from a very strong background in Customer Care in Ireland I compliment Moores Hotel for achieving quality excellence through its management and staff. The prior communication with Alex and Zsuzsanna was first class and my many phone calls were always received with professionalism and understanding. This professionalism was continued with Zsuzanna, Richard and Oliver at front of house throughout our stay. Our service at breakfast and in the evenings was always delivered with a warm smile and nothing was impossible, compliments are extended to Luis, Gul Sara and not forgetting the lovely Mr. P (Patrick, Steven) Our rooms were serviced everyday and those ladies were so polite and always had our room spick and span. Thank you ladies very much. With the most sincere gratitude may I wish each and everyone of you many blessings and continued success to Moores Best Western. It has been a most amazing stay – Thank You Sincere Gratitude Mariel Forde Clarke ( Anna and Angela ) Ireland
Moores is a pretty, flower adorned hotel, ideally situated in the centre of the shops and restaurants of St Peter Port, and within easy walking distance of the beautiful harbour. The room was large, clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom. Breakfast, served in the lovely conservatory was excellent. We ate in the Library Bar on our first night where the food was good and reasonably priced. Staff throughout the hotel were all extremely pleasant and helpful, we were able to store our luggage until our evening flight and the receptionist was happy to print off our online boarding passes. A thoroughly enjoyable stay - thank you.
The hotel is clean and well apointed. We especially enjoyed the small Spa. The lift was a welcome feature after 2 weeks of small British hotels with many levels and stairs. Refrigerator in the room is a plus.
I have frequented the Channel Islands now for many years and stayed in many hotels but always return to Moores, it is extremely well situated and appointed, convenient for the Town shopping and the Harbour and is within access of most of the sights and attractions that Guernsey has to offer. The staff are always charming and attentive and very ready to help. The food is of a very high standard and I particularly enjoy the great breakfasts! The Lounge bar is one of my very favourite places where the charming young lady who runs it is so good at her job, would that all bar staff were as good as her these days - she sees us perhaps once every couple of years but always remembers us and greats us very cordially. With most bars being noisy and crowded these days, this bar is a haven for a quiet peaceful drink!
Lovely location in the town centre, outside dining with atentative staff. My partner had a huge seafood buffet which was fresh and tasty. I had a bacon and egg butty which was also very good. This is the second visit this month. My first visit was with the girls and wasn't quite as successful as we had afternoon tea. I wasn't keen on the cake selection. But the drinks flowed and we had a nice afternoon.
Located in the town close to all the shops and within walking distance of the harbour it is very convenient especially if you do not have a car. The service was excellent as was the housekeeping but you need to select the right room. Our 6 year old great niece was really well looked after and enjoyed the attention. The Conservatory Restaurant is excellent and they were very obliging in providing her with tailor made meals generally not from the children's menu. There is another café within the hotel called the Hideaway which is also excellent for snacks etc. which can be taken on the terrace in good weather. All together a great 9 night stay for us to enjoy the beach and a trip to Sark and also use of the health spa at an associated hotel.
Lovely hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, great breakfast and fantastic location by shops and restaurants. We had a room in the attic which had the most amazing view of the harbour which was an added bonus! Would definately stay here again.
Stayed at the Moores Central a couple of times. I consider it to be value for money. Rooms are OK and clean. Breakfast very good and staff are always very helpful. I recommend it for both business and leisure travelers.
We stayed for a week in July. The hotel gave us an upgraded room, which was large and very well furnished. The WiFi reception in the room was excellent. The breakfast choices were very good, fresh juices and fruit available or a variety cooked to order. The service was faultless and staff very attentive to the smallest details. The reception and bar staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A choice of evening meal restaurants within the hotel was available. I had a super birthday meal with a lovely surprise candle lit desert and a basket of fruit in our room. We will certainly stay here again.
me and my husband have just returned from another lovely holiday at moores we cant fault this hotel very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful a special thank you to Gaul for making my husbands favorite cheese with chili on toast which made his day the meals are excellent and the staff will go out of their way to get you what you want if it is not on the menu and when we arrived their was a lovely vase of yellow roses in the room with a welcome back note which was a really lovely thought i have been coming back to this hotel for over 20 yrs it was my mums favorite hotel she loved Guernsey so much sadly she passed away last December and it will hold a special place in my heart cant wait to return next year thank you moores
I came back to Moore's as part of a short break for lunch. Once again I found this hotel management and professional, friendly, the hotel itself clean and oozing in character and charm. I only wished I had booked my entire four night break here. Next time I am back I will definitely be staying at this under-rated 3 star hotel.
We called in at Guernsey for a three-day break (late June, early July) and Moores Central was perfect for our purposes. The location could hardly have been better. Le Pollet is part of the pedestrian main shopping street, just a few minutes' walk from the harbour and the piers and Castle Cornet etc. Lots of cafes and pubs and restaurants nearby. The hotel is characterful, created out of what was once perhaps a big old Bank or something like that. There is a bar on the Ground Floor, the Library Bar, serving lunches and dinners. Obviously popular with locals (there is a separate entrance from the street for non-residents). On the first floor is the Hideaway restaurant. Very good food - best oysters ever, even without an r in the month. Waiters and other staff extremely hard-working and helpful. Our room was at the top with a good view of harbour and Castle. Only downside I can think of - probably not ideal for families with small children, as vehicular access is limited and the beaches some way off. But perfect for us - both of us retired and more interested in the island and its history than in getting down to the beach.
This hotel has an excelklent location right on the High Street in St. Peter Port. It is quite large. The receptionists were very helpful, and the hotel even offers free sightseeing tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (availability allowing). The restaurant is very big, and these is a large open patio. I had a room on the third floor facing the back, and it was very nice and airy. I expect that rooms lover down may be somewhat hotter.
This town centre hotel is a gem. All the staff were friendly and efficient. We had booked a standard room and were astounded when we picked up our tickets to see that we had been upgraded to a suite. Thank you so much whoever did this. It was really appreciated and we loved our suite which was truly spacious and even had a spa bath which was fantastic after walking the coastal path all day. Being such a large area the air conditioning struggled to cope but we were there on a very hot week. The breakfast was lovely and unlike most hotels actually had a functioning and efficient toaster so the smoke alarm never went off. The staff in the restaurant were amazing and worked so hard. We only ate in the Conservatory Restaurant for various reasons once during our week's stay but we had no complaints whatsoever. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. A word of warning though. It is a town centre hotel and you need to expect some noise like street cleaning and bin emptying in the early hours and also well oiled revellers. However we were usually so tired with walking round this beautiful island that we usually slept though it.
My partner and I used this hotel as a base to explore the island, and it turned out to be a great find. Everything from the arrival and check-in, the staff, the room and the food was spot on. We had an ample breakfast each morning and were very impressed with the service (the staff really know how to make you feel welcome). We used the Library Bar for our main meals of the day and again, very impressive. I know where we'll stay next time we visit the island. Thank you all for a memorable short break.
In the States, Best Western's are generally considered a cheap mediocre hotel chain. So I was totally surprised to find this property to be lovely and very nice in every way. The location is outstanding, in central St Peter Port on a walking only street, close to the water and many excellent shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the beds are comfortable. The hotel is quite attractive, being in a very pretty historic building. The Library Pub is really nice, and the breakfast restaurant is really wonderful, and the food is very good as well. And the staff were helpful and very pleasant. It was a wonderful surprise and we had a really great stay.
I have stayed at Moore's on two successive holidays to Guernsey. It is a lovely hotel -great location (very near to the harbour for island hopping), great service, great staff, great rooms, great food. The staff were very welcoming, and even remembered me from last year. Excellent all round!
If you are staying in St Peter Port, for business or pleasure, Best Western Moores Central Hotel offers a warm welcome, clean and comfortable rooms, attentive staff and excellent food. Located in the town centre, it is close to all amenities and tourist attractions.
My husband & I chose Moores after reading wonderful reviews & liked its central position . We had a most enjoyable relaxing time for 5 days last week and could not fault a thing . Our bedroom room & bathroom were both spacious & very clean ( we spoke to the housekeeper who told us she demanded high standards from her staff ) the food was excellent high quality ingredients & well cooked lots of fresh fruit salad & veg . In the restaurant the manager Gul worked hard to make sure everyone was being looked after . It was the attention to detail we liked the courtesy bus collecting & returning us to the airport the courtesy bus 3 hour tour of the island one afternoon by Bobby a very knowledgeable guide . We will certainly be returning next year .
Excellent hotel for visiting Guernsey. Relaxing; great atmosphere; excellent, friendly service from all staff. Lovely terrace cafe/restaurant area. Very convenient for exploring St Peter Port; the very good bus service does the rest!
Location was excellent and breakfast was good. Staff were unfriendly in all area's and especially in reception. We were locked out one evening when we arrived home a little after midnight. Our room was nice but horrible to get too through a restaurant with people dining and an external bar area that looked straight into the room . We had to keep curtains and windows closed at all times for privacy and safety. We would not stay at this Hotel again. Extremely overpriced for standard more expensive than any Hotel we stayed in throughout Europe
BOOKED DOUBLE ROOM WITH WALK IN SHOWER. On arrival at airport pre booked taxi by hotel did not show. Contacted hotel and receptionist said txi could not wait! She was not interested in us or did not want to send another ! On arrival at hotel she never looked away form computer totally ignoed us and young man checked us in. He had poor customer services and never explained anything or assisted with bags or showed us where the lift was---total apathy. Room it was a very small room really a single with a tiny window and double bed cramped in.. not very clean just poor. I went to receptionist and she was very unhelpful after leaving me waiting 20 mins! THIS WAS NO WAY WHAT WE HAD BOOKED OR WORTH £160 pn bb. The next morning we checked out and the staff never spoke or asked why apart from setling bill. FIRST TIME TO GUERNSEY an d we were thinking what have we done! However found a great hotel 4 star ..even cheaper and fabulous in every aspect ST PIERE HOTEL &SPA they were totally opposite to this one. DONT BOOK MOORES HOTEL!
We and four friends go to have a Sunday evening dinner at Moores very regular ,it's the most relaxed friendly place to eat and the staff couldn't be more helpful ,Paul the head waiter always tries to accommodate the six of us even when they're very busy , Great team .Chefs are also very pleasant and helpful and present great food ,and good value for money .
This hotel gets 5 stars for its position which is perfect as it is central and close to ferries, buses, restaurants, shops etc. It is a little old fashioned inside. Our room was comfortable and compact but the bathroom was in need of a refurb. Unfortunately the shower was the opposite of a power shower. The breakfast was good and the restaurant was good in the evening if you chose from the a la carte. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The wifi in the bedroom was intermittent. I would stay here again because of its great position.
Nice hotel, well positioned just off the Marina and in easy distance for shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was freshly served and tasty. Room was quite warm, but there was little breeze. Overall nice stay.
the hotel is situated on the high street in st peter port ideal location because it is on the flat the ambience excellent felt very comfortable here had a brilliant room very quiet and light the food was brilliant we stayed 5 nights would recommend this hotel handy for all the shops and buses and the Terrace Bar for afternoon tea was excellent very good
This is our third stay in moores hotel the staff are brilliant polite helpful friendly Food is delicious servererd by staff who are exceptional The hotel is extremely comfortable with a level of interior design that puts it in the memorable category The room was excellent would recommend this hotel to anyone Look after us very well
Had carvery for lunch. Was excellent value for £9.95 each. As much as you wanted. The thing that impressed us was that they use FRESH veg, not frozen. Definitely would recommend Moores a visit. We will be going again in the near future. Staff friendly and efficient and most welcoming.
We stayed here with a group of people in June 2016 for 4 days. It is an old building converted to a Hotel, as such it has a quirky layout. There is a lift to all floors. Our room on the top floor at the back was clean, well appointed and of an adequate size. It was hot by the end of the day. There is no air conditioning. The food in the restaurant was excellent and we eat in each night. The staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. I would recommend asking for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise from the street at the front. It is very close to the shops and plenty of alternative restaurants. Ferries to the islands are a short walk away. We would stay here again.
Went to this hotel for a few days could not had picked a nicer hotel right at the end of the main shopping area and 100 yards from harbour. The hotel is a period hotel and the rooms are big clean and have all that you could want in a room. They have different restaurants and bars so you do not have to look for having a meal out only thing I would say is you have to book to make sure you can get a table as it is. Open to nonresidents the staff could not be more helpful and are very professional I would not hesitate to book this hotel again or recommend this hotel .
Very centrally located and able to walk to many places ; the hotel was clean and tidy and the meals were all tasty and reasonably priced - there are many other restaurants close by The hotel was not built as a hotel so has some drawbacks ; we had no aircon but we could open the windows , however being on the ground level , security was always an issue ; the bathroom was quite small with very limited storage space for toiletories etc The bedroom was huge and a big + , but the bed only had a heavy duvet which meant for a very warm bed with little ventilation I would recommend the hotel especially for the location and the above issues are not insurmontable
Yes! another really great stay at Moores. A late arrival at the hotel, after everyrhing was closed, due to flight delays caused by fog earlier in the day but a really warm friendly and non-fussy welcome from the Night Manager who showed and helped us to our room. The sandwitches and wine was waiting in our room for us. How well those crab sandwictches and cold dry white wine went down after our long delay in a very hot Manchester Airport. Wonderful cheerful friendly service from everyone throughout our stay, from the staff who serviced the rooms, Reception staff and Restaurant staff not forgetting the staff in the Library Bar. A special mention must go to Gul and his team in the Restaurant. He welcomed us back by name and ensured we received very attentive service throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble even to arranging smaller portions for my good lady who's appetite is somewhat smaller these days. The new Seafood Menu in the Restaurant was a very pleasant surprise everything from Herm Island oysters, mussel and scallops to lovely local lobster and seafood platter all I must say at very reasonable prices. Hope this is back on the menu when we come back next year I really enjoyed that seafood and would recommend you try it if you are a seafood lover! Moores is a really first class classical hotel with old fashion values and service at the core. Thank you to everyone and hopefully looking forward to returning next year.
My parents have returned today from a fantastic holiday made all the more special by the staff, facilities and food at this hotel. My parents are 80 & 75 and were looked after to the highest of standards. They have returned with beaming smiles and so many happy stories to tell. They wished to thank in particular Sarah, Luis and a lady they named Milly - your kindness and hard work was truly appreciated. They will return!!!!
The Moores Hotel is in the old part of St Peters Port with its winding streets. The hotel rooms have great views into the streets and soundproof windows. There is a lovely terrace to sit and enjoy the sun and while away the time. We went on the local bus for 1 pound for a 90 minute trip around the island. There is a lot to see and do in St Peters Port for active people and those like us who wanted a nice quiet time.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable but small (although we are in Europe). Could not fault either room, hotel or facilities in regards to cleanliness. Would stay again, but book superior room. Breakfasts very good and ideally located in St Peter Port which is a lovely location.
My friend and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Moores Central Hotel, Guernsey, and just loved it. It is situated close to the shops and harbour, which is advantageous if wanting to visit Herm and Sark. The orangery where we dined was delightful looking out on a patio filled with flowers. The menu was varied, the food beautifully cooked, and the staff very professional yet tempered with a warmth and a desire to please. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to family, friends, colleagues. Indeed, staying at Moores was the highlight of our holiday.
This is a lovely old hotel in the heart of St Peter Port. We had a comfortable, though smallish room but had everything needed for a short stay including tea-making facilities and a pleasant, well equipped bathroom. We ate in the restaurant on our first night there and it is superb, well worth a visit for that alone. Breakfast is excellent and relaxed. A nice bar too. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. It has a sister hotel that you can go to (shuttle provided) and use their swimming pool etc if you wish. Just be aware that if you have mobility issues, there is no car park and it is quite difficult to get close to it due to its location in the main town. We would definitely go back and probably will - October is great time to go to take advantage of the Tennerfest food festival.
We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel. The location is perfect, it's right on the Main Street and just a few minutes down to the front where all the yachts are moored. The town has a French feel about it. The staff at the hotel are all very pleasant and helpful. We could not fault the hotel. The restaurant in the conservatory serves excellent food and they also have an outside terrace serving lunches and snacks plus a snug bar area for the evening. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We would definitely return to this hotel.
I was recommended to stay at the Moores Central Best Western as it was in “town” and very close to many (if not all) of the bars and restaurants. I had stayed in the Duke of Richmond previously and so wanted to stay in a hotel closer to the “action”. Rooms The rooms were very clean and of a very good size. In comparison to the other hotel I had stayed at in Guernsey these weren't any larger or smaller. There were all the necessary mod cons in the room but the main highlight was the comfy bed. The sleep quality was very nice indeed. The room was of a decent size and there was wifi available within the room. The room had a nicely sized en-suite too, the room functioned well and there were no issues with my stay!! Service The service was very good. I arrived extremely late at around 9:30pm, however the staff were still very polite and very helpful. There was no airport transfer for me, however this was not something which I had enquired into either. The staff throughout the next few days were all very nice and helpful. Breakfast The breakfast was a little mixed. On the first day it wasn't too nice, however on days 2 and 3 it was very indeed. I went for a vegetarian version of the full English on day one and this is something that I wouldn't recommend, the other “hot” options on the menu are much better, I cant remember which I had on the 2nd and 3rd days however they did taste a lot lot better. There isn't much variety either but then this is something that I have come to expect of all hotels. Generally the waiters and those assisting customers in the restaurant were very welcoming and helpful. Location The location is superb. There is no question. It is in the heart of town, where the majority of the bars and restaurants are. It is also on the doorstep of the shopping high street. One can walk to and from the hotel to a plethora of restaurants and shops. As the hotel is also in the centre of town it feels quite safe too, but safety is not a concern in Guernsey as the whole island had a very low crime rate. Overall: This is a good hotel. I am very glad of the recommendation and would happily stay here again. The location is the thing that seals it for me and I would even take a compromise of a lower grade room than the one I had to stay here, that's how good the location is compared to the other hotels. The rooms are very good too. They are not the best and this is certainly not 5 star, but it is a very good functional hotel and definitely worth staying at. There was a problem with one of the lifts that night so I had to walk up one flight of stairs however after that the lifts from the 1st floor were working fine, the next day all was rectified. It is very hard to get closer to the centre for cheaper, although I hadn't done too much research on this front, this hotel was the best bang for my buck! I will give it a 4 out of 5 as I have stayed at better hotels which warrant a 5 rating, however this should not be seen as a negative as this is a very good hotel in its own right. I was very glad I had got this recommendation
The fact that my wife and I have just returned from at least our fifth stay at Moores speaks volumes in itself. The management and staff are charming and helpful with many familiar faces which we believe shows how content the staff are to be there. For the second year running we chose the Bailiwick Suite. It is spacious and comfortable and has a large bathroom with separate bath and walk-in shower which is a must for me as I have a mobility problem (the hotel also benefits from a lift serving all floors). The Suite has two different limited views of the port and beyond and is in a very quiet position within the hotel. However, two windows overlook a narrow main thoroughfare in Town and there is sometimes early morning noise from dustcarts, street cleaners and delivery vehicles. The hotel's attractive and comfortable Conservatory Restaurant is excellent. Choose breakfast from several cold options at the buffet or from the varied and imaginative range of hot choices cooked to order. Dinner also is excellent with very reasonably priced table d'hote or a la carte menus available. And other options are available in the Library Bar with its carvery and the adjacent Hideaway Brasserie where some wonderful patisserie is available - on the attractive terrace if it's a nice day! Some guests might find Moores lack of a swimming pool and dedicated car park a disadvantage. However, the two other sister hotels have pools and, being in the centre of Town, Moores is close to several public car parks. Moores central location in Town makes it ideal for those without their own transport and for all sorts of quality shopping and restaurant opportunities. It is close to bus stops and inter-island terminals. One final endorsement - we have already booked our two week stay at Moores for 2017!
The food was great, imaginative, fresh and very appetizing. The room was at the back of hotel was adequate and the bed was large and comfortable which was a plus although the emptying of the dustbin in the early hours was a minus. The hotel was centrally situated at the end of the predestrianised high street and very convenient. No need to hire a car the bus service will take you round the island in 1.5 hours for just £1!
We have just returned from a few days in Guernsey , staying at this lovely hotel. Its location is excellent being only five minutes away from the harbour and right on the main street so everything is easy to access. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout and the staff are brilliant , being thoroughly professional and very friendly too. The hotel has two bars and a fabulous restaurant with a roof top terrace , giving glorious views over Guernsey. The food is all freshly cooked and there is a good choice to cover all tastes. I would recommend this hotel very highly.
Just returned from a fantastic 2 night break at Moores. Situated in central St Peter Port this hotel is warm, friendly and exceptionally high quality and we enjoyed every minute! Attentive staff, luxurious rooms and a whole range of food opportunities await, from the traditional Library Bar (best roast car very dinner in Guernsey!) to the more upmarket Rendezvous restaurant and Hideaway Brasserie, all under one roof! Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and cooked to order with locally sourced ingredients and our room was huge with a super king size bed. Thanks especially to Alan the manager for making our stay so enjoyable- we will return!
this hotel exemplifies the best aspects if older traditional hotels. Its panelled entry hall, coloured glass inset windows, upstairs and downstairs in some unexpected places reminded me of times gone by. But then so did the welcome, the warm and comfortable rooms, the open sunny breakfast area, the bar and comfort food. Sitting on the main shopping street of pretty St Peter Port, it us hard to imagine a better situated hostelry.
For me the staff at a hotel make (or mar) the visit. I cannot really speak too highly of the the service we received during the short break. We will certainly be back. Walking around St Peter port I tripped on the pavement and was rather immobile for 36 hours. Everyone was most considerate and helpful, asking how I was getting on. Thankfully it was only temporary but you do remember the kindness shown. The fact that it is a conversion from a town house means that the rooms are not all the same and some have better views than others, but that is the price you pay for staying in this sort of hotel. I put my head round the door of the health suite and it looked well equipped and maintained. We had breakfast and one dinner in the Conservatory restaurant, which had a good varied menu, well cooked and served. As in the rest of the hotel excellent service. I preferred the Rendevous bar to the library but that was my preference. Finally the little things. My wife reckoned it was the easiest shower to operate in any hotel she has visited. For me the little thing was breakfast coffee - excellent
Our third visit to the lovely island of Guernsey, and our third stay in the very comfortable Moores Hotel. As on previous occasions, we couldn't fault the service or facilities. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very conveniently situated for the shops, bus station and local restaurants. We dined in the hotel on two evenings - once in the restaurant and once in the bar - food fabulous. The breakfasts are amazing but far too much food!! Our last day dawned bright and sunny and we were able to have lunch on the hotel terrace of the Hideaway before heading off to the airport. Can really recommend Moores for a great stay.
Friendly staff and helpful attitude means that I will only stay at BW in Guernsey. Sure there are more luxurious places to stay but this hotel wins overall for location right in the centre of town and the helpful friendly staff.
This Hotel is centrally situated to give easy access to the towns shops and amenities. It is good value for money offering friendly service and comfortable accomodation. the restaraunts are good with a good selection of menus at reasonable prices. although in a pedestrian zone, car hire is available and the public car park is a 5 minute stroll
Probably didn't help our impressions that when we arrived for a 2 night break that the front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding and, as we tried to get to our taxi on Sunday morning, they were ripping it down. The whole hotel has a very old fashioned air, which would chime well with the majority of clientele. There's a very stand of fish air with the reception staff tucked away so they don't need to engage with you as you come an go. But the big drawback for us was our room, no 210. A pokey room at best, with squishy uncomfortable mattress on the small double, and old fashioned furniture it was further dragged down, not only by facing out onto a stone wall, but by its proximity to the hotel spa. The open windows of the spa mean, unless you keep your window closed (and there's no a/c), you have to listen to people chatting in the jacuzzi and the interminable whine of the jacuzzi machinery. On the Friday night this was left on all night but on 2nd night it seemed to go off late and come back on early. We did complain when one of the guests popped out of the spa to stand outside our window for a quick fag and, thankfully, that didn't happen again. But why are there windows and a door anyway from the spa to right outside a guest room? And as if that wasn't enough attempt to make it an uncomfortable stay by twenty to 9 on Sunday they were hoovering in the adjacent room! Luckily we were up as getting an early flight out. At £137 per night, including breakfast, this didn't really seem like a good value option but maybe there are better rooms available at the same price. On the plus side, location is central for a stroll around St Peters Port, wifi is free and fine and breakfast (at a steep £11.50 ) very nice and well staffed. The Rendezvous bar is pleasant for a quick drink before hitting the town.
Stayed for three nights. Room and bed were very large and clean. All usual amenities working well. Breakfast was first class and the library bar and restaurant represents very good value for money. Had a good stay with no complaints.
I always try to book here if its not booked already ! The location is superb--Right in the centre of the town with shops, restaurants, bars and the seafront just yards away! The hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are lovely with ensuite and of a good size. There is an adjoining bar which does great food and drink. A major reason why I like this hotel is the staff----friendly from point of arrival and throughout the stay---really helpful but not intrusive. The breakfast is great and if you go for the full English --its one of the best to be had! This is a hotel that has a lot that's going right ...The management and shop floor staff are doing a good job!-WELL DONE:-)
A weekend break on the delightful island of Guernsey. This hotel is well placed in St Peter Port Close to the harbour and lots of shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and we'll appointed, en-suite of course . We ate in the conservatory restaurant last night which offers a set 2 and 3 course menu as well as alacarte . Excellent. Charming attentive service. We would certainly use this hotel again.
Stayed a night pre working trip to Sark and then a night on the way home. Very good. Comfortable room, very clean and well presented, warm, friendly staff... could not do more, well situated, good restaurants etc. The last time we stayed at the Old Government House at over double the price... it was good but this was in its own way just as comfortable. Don't be put off by the scaffolding outside! The bus is every 20 mins from the airport doors to the centre of St Peter Port and then one can trundle ones bags along the front, 200 yards!.
Stayed recently for the second time in a short period. Always really impressed with the staff, who are professional and friendly. Breakfast is fantastic. Hotel is a very short walk from the harbour and in a nice picturesque street amoungst shops and restaurants. On my most recent stay I was in a room in the outbuilding and the room was modern, spacious and clean. This was certainly more up-to-date then the previous room I stayed. Had all the rooms been like the most recent I would have given 5 stars
When the family came on a visit to Guernsey from Ireland recently, What a difference a stay at Moores Central made. To all the staff it's simpy, well done and fair play to all. We cannot forget our fellow countryman Bar Manager, and cork man extraordinaire. I will say, as Gaelige mhaith an buachaill a phol. Good boy Paul. Agus ait an dheas ostan o Moores. Moores hotel is a lovely place. Will be back gods willing. Slainte.
We recently stayed here on a short weekend break after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor. It's very centrally located and a short two minute walk down a slope to the harbour. The room we were initially given did suffer from some external noise from an adjacent office air conditioning unit which we raised with reception. To our surprise and delight we were upgraded to a lovely spacious suite on the third floor. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice and good quality ingredients used in the cooked breakfast. We also ate in the Conservatory restaurant one evening which was also very nice .There is also a lively bar with a carvery and a quieter snug to choose from in the hotel. All of the staff we dealt with were very polite and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and our stay was definitely improved with the room upgrade we received.
On arrival at Moores we were somewhat apprehensive, as the whole hotel was wrapped in plastic sheeting! The hotel was undergoing external refurbishment to prepare for summer. However, we needn't have worried. Inside was a completely different matter. There was a lovely feeling immediately. The receptionist greeted us warmly and checked us in quickly. Our room (which we upgraded when booking) was wonderful and cosy. The bed was huge and SO comfortable. The bathroom was large, light and very well equipped. We were there for a three-night break and decided to eat in the restaurant on the first night with the intention of finding nice restaurants for the other two. Our meal was excellent and the menu had so much to offer, that we never did look for other restaurants. The restaurant staff were superb, very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly. There was also an excellent wine list. Moores is in a perfect location for getting around the town and only a few minutes from the harbour and bus station. This is a wonderful place for a restful break. Excellent staff, food and location.
We have often visited St. Peter Port. We always seem to have lunch on balcony at this hotel, so we thought we would try it for weekend break. Really nice hotel staff very helpful Great breakfast and comfortable room. We booked a table for Sunday lunch in the conservatory super meal attentive service. No complaints or gripes over the whole weekend.
Good location. Friendly staff. Warm & comfortable room. Some local noise but in the middle of town this is to be expected - no problem with that at all. The room had everything needed - except character or style - as it had bland hotel fixtures & fittings - the same style of room as can be found anywhere - absolutely nothing wrong with that - except a bit old fashioned and dated from the '80's. All in good condition, just in need of a make-over to make it more personal - more Guernsey in some way, a picture of local scenes not some cheap print from a second hand shop. Magnolia walls in my room ... I think maybe I am allergic to the colour magnolia as it just says - bland. Some rich boldness in colour would be brave and stunning. Maybe the business visitor likes bland and boring - or maybe I am just not a magnolia person. I appreciate there are a lot of rooms and costs money to do, but people expect more these days. Nothing that said Guernsey. No individuality which is to be expected in such a beautiful old building. Inside - it could well have been anywhere. Being offered a newspaper when I checked in - was not told there would be a charge - and when no papers were forthcoming onto the island for anyone - yet to be charged £2 a day for something I did not get - and was offered a refund ONLY after I brought it to their attention, was not good customer service - as why was the charge even made ? I expected the paper to be free as in other venues. It was refunded - with a slight atmosphere. Friendly and chatty bar staff. Good staff at breakfast, good selection, good choice and excellent poached eggs and this is something some people - for some reason - get wrong. Top marks Mr. Chef. Oh and really crispy bacon when asked - hoorah. I would return to Moores as the location is good.
Had a wonderful Christmas meal with my work friends. Lovely food which was very good quality and very tasty and hot which can sometimes be a problem when it's a very busy time, wonderful service can't fault it.
This was our fourth visit to Moores. A lovely hotel in a very good location in St Peter Port. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We had very good rooms on the third floor. We celebrated new year and found the food and all round experience to be first class. Like visiting an old and valued friend ! Highly recommended!
We booked the Christmas package and added a day on to the start. We stayed in the Sarnia suite which was lovely, very roomy and comfortable and having read trip advisor reviews took earplugs so that the street noise was not a problem, however as a town centre hotel noise was to be expected but it did not trouble us. The food was unbelievable, with a huge choice and nothing disappointed. The hotel put on two trips during the day and two evening events, all was good fun and a bonus of sandwiches, mince pies, and mulled wine to return to. I honestly can not praise this hotel and the staff enough, they were all genuinely pleased to do anything to help and they certainly made this one of the most enjoyable Christmases that we have had for a long time. We will definitely be going back.
This Hotel is the top of the list for me. Absolutely Everything was spot on at the Moores, I cannot praise this hotel enough. The staff were a credit to the hotel. The manager Steve was very approachable and treated you like a friend. You can see it is a family run hotel with high expectactions. We had a top floor room with views of the harbour and Herm which was spectacular even out of the bathroom window. All of the eateries inside of the hotel are excellent and we had the best carvery ever in The Library. I would have to stay at the Moores if I returned to Guernsey as no other hotel would be good enough. ( But maybe their sister hotels if they are anything like the Moores) The hotel is in an excellent position for the town as it is in the centre and everything seems to be within walking distance. Thank You, Moores for a lovely holiday!!!
On a busy Saturday afternoon, went in for a drink and ended up staying for lunch. Staff are very friendly and polite and informative. Plenty of specials on the blackboard and were told the roasts of the day. Very quick service food piping hot I chose the Vietnamese chicken and my wife had a cheese and ham panini. Good wifi available to catch up on the news and to sort out emails. Very clean bright bar. Will go back again soon.
Great hotel, excellent service, very comfortable, central St Peter Port location. If you're contemplating a Friday or Saturday night stay, ask for a room at the back, as noise from the street at weekends is pretty bad!
Have visited this hotel on many occasions & the service is always excellent. The rooms are comfortable & clean, the staff are friendly & are always really helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. There is an excellent selection at breakfast but it is the only hotel i have stayed at that does not offer baked beans! We ate in the restaurant in the evening & there is a really good choice of food including several vegetarian options. The service was very good & the food excellent. There is a small cosy bar usually run by Emanuella who is absolutely brilliant, she makes you feel really welcome.
This hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the town with easy access to the port, shops and public transport. It is an old building full of character and the rooms are well appointed, spotlessly clean and with all the facilities expected including free wifi. There is a choice of dining options to suit all tastes from the informal Library Bar (super service from personable bar staff) to the more elegant surroundings of the Conservatory Restaurant (also serves the excellent breakfast menu). The quality of the food is excellent and superb value for money whichever option you choose! The hotel is well patronised by the local people which is always a sign that they are getting it right!! I have been using this hotel for many years and on speaking to other guests during the course of my stays it is clear that there are many guests who return time after time. A major factor for this is undoubtedly due to the staff who always go the extra mile to ensure that everyone has a great stay. Nothing is too much trouble, the welcome extended is always warm and genuine and this applies throughout the hotel to everyone you meet during the course of your stay.
Spent three nights over a November weekend. Comfortable room with excellent breakfast. Efficient staff, Watch to book 'even 'numbered rooms on third floor. There is a night club across the road - open on Fridays/Saturdays until 2.00am The even numbered rooms face the night club. Central location - no car required.
Visited Moores Hotel as part of a week long trip visiting Guernsey and then Jersey. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of St Peter Port and steps away from the harbour. The room was a good size and functional. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was very nice, a good set menu and vet attentive staff. I would certainly recommend staying here.
our room was near the lift as we requested (husband has mobility issues). We had a walk in shower - brilliant. (But we didn't like the strawberry scented shower gel!). The toiletries were of a high standard and the towels were huge. The staff could not have been more helpful. The standard of food both for breakfast and dinner was outstanding. This hotel is really central and handy for buses and taxis. It costs £1 to go on a public service bus all round the island. We are planning to go back to the same hotel in the Spring.
The hotel is well placed in the centre of town. The room was good, staff were excellent and the food was top quality. Only negative was no car park so had to park in the car parks nearby. When we return to Guernsey this is the hotel were we will stay.
My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights. The location was perfect as we walked or took the bus everywhere and everything was on the doorstep. The hotel was clean and friendly and it quickly felt like coming home at the end of our days. My daughter had a problem with her mattress and the staff were extremely helpful in remedying this. Would definitely recommend to friends and come and stay here again.
This hotel is one of the very best hotels. The room were spacious and spotlessly clean. With a very large and comfy bed. Restaurant had a good choice of excellent food served by very helpful and friendly staff. The bar staff gave excellent and prompt service . Family run with many long service staff.
Great location in central St Peter Port. Some street noise but not at all bad. Great food especially gluten free options which is such a refreshing change. Good room. Great wifi. But the staff make this a fab hotel. They are so helpful and friendly. Thanks guys!
Wonderful hotel in every way! The staff was outstanding and the food was wonderful! Spent 5 days there in September and loved everything about this hotel! Perfect location to see St. Peter Port--a short block to the harbor and on the main shopping high street. l highly recommend Guernsey and Moore's Hotel!!
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, all the staff are very friendly we were made to feel very valued and welcome as a result. The food quality and presentation in the restaurant was absolutely first class, we chose from the Tennerfest menu, it was superb value for money and was a meal that will live long in the memory, the service by the waiting staff was friendly, attentive, and so professional. Our room was immaculate, spacious, well designed and decorated, all in all, it was a brilliant experience. We cannot praise this hotel high enough.
The room was very good with plenty of amenities. Breakfast was excellent and we dined in one evening and had the Tennerfest meal, which was excellent value for money. A nice touch was the collection and delivery of our cases to the ferry port.
Stayed here on business as part of a conference I was attending on the island . My colleagues stayed at other hotels and none were complimentary . The Moores was Excellent . The room was really good and comfortable , the cooked breakfast was the best I have ever had . Overall the staff were so attentive and polite , nothing at reception was too much trouble . However , you need to know that you'll have to park down by the harbour as the hotel has no parking of its own . There were some families staying too ,and they commented that the hotel was very child friendly .
Situated in a good central St Peter Port location within a reasonable walk's distance of the ferry terminal. Facilities good with 3 restaurants and 2 bars and very helpful staff. I asked for a 'quiet' room and fortunately the intrusive noise stopped at 6pm during my stay so i did manage to get a good sleep. Room size adequate with a view of a path between two buildings, not the worst view i've had, hope other room views better than mine. I've stayed in bigger and better rooms for less in the UK so a bit disappointed at the cost. For its location and facilities would consider staying again in the unlikely event i ever return to Guernsey.
We have stayed at this hotel many times and the service has always been excellent, the rooms are bright and well furnished. The staff are always helpful and cheerful both in reception and the restaurant. The location of the hotel is so convenient for the interesting shops and only a short walk to the harbour! I would recomend that if you want to visit Guernsey then try this hotel
As we were staying at the sister hotel, we thought we'd try this one and we were very pleased. Good tastey and well presented main course and the Guinea Fowl & crab trio were delicious, chocolate dessert was satisfactory, please see the photos. Service was first class as seems to be common over much of Guernsey. They deserve a 4+
We first visited Moores in March and promised ourselves we would return, hoping for better weather. This time we enjoyed lovely sunshine throughout our visit. We would not hesitate to recommend Moores, where the standard of accommodation and service is second to none. The breakfast selection is excellent and sets you up for the day. We ate in the Conservatory Restaurant one evening and cannot fault the choice of food, the food itself or the service. The Library Bar is also a nice place to relax and if, as we found, the weather is fine, then the Hideaway service on the terrace is highly recommended. When we next visit Guernsey, Moores will be our number one choice!
I have stayed here now 4 times and find the hotel really nice. The rooms are perfectly fine for a business traveller or couple although I suspect with a family a little less appealling. Restaurant is really good and they have all sorts of food on offer and appear to provide a good gluten free menu for those travellers who need to have this provided. Good central location for the town of St Peters port
We recently visited Guernsey for the first time and chose this hotel for its location and reputation; we were not dissapointed. First class service delivered by very friendly staff who could not have been more helpful during our stay. Our only negative comment would be of the noise by people leaving the Hideaway resteraunt below our bedroom window at 2am in the morning on the Friday and Saturday night! When we go back we will ask for a room away from that area.
8 of us came for 5 nights to celebrate. Everything was just perfect. The staff were very helpful, and the anniversary meal was amazing. This is the second stay some of us had in this hotel, and we will be come back. Thank you all for making this special.
I agree with other reviews which mentioned how clean the hotel was; we saw our cleaner regularly as we went down to breakfast in the conservatory. Not so much a meal, more an event! I do not remember being offered cranberry juice for breakfast before and might try having it at home. The food in the downstairs bar was disappointing and we did not repeat the experience. We stayed for 6 nights and I think we would try one of the two "sister" hotels in the future, if only to get out of the town and make use of a pool. The main advantage of staying in the centre of town was that we could choose a different restaurant each day. When we went on the day trip to Sark, we did not have a long journey to get to the port.
