For a hotel that has just undergone renovations some finishing touches are required. The room was clean and made when arrived for a stay of one night. Part of the renovation evidently was to install laminate hardwood floor which looked nice. Now I wouldn't be bothered by the burnt out light bulb in a wall sconce above the TV and desk. The hole room in the bathroom door is a little hard to miss. You may want find someone who actually knows how to wield a paint brush and can cut into angles or at least uses painters tape. Also cheap latex gloss paint isn't going to last long on the trims in the bathroom without the surface being prepared (used to work in the coatings industry). A TV that turns on by the power button on the remote or on the TV itself would be a nice added touch; too bad that was lacking also. Breakfast was standard with the regular hot /cold offerings. Though the waffle batter was too thin, the bacon was yummy. Otherwise the pool area and exercise room appeared to be in good condition (visual inspection only) Management did offer a reduced rate after bringing the above issues to their attention, but that wasn't my intention. Just that after the other BW hotels we've stayed in on this trip this doesn't meet what I've seen as BW standards.
Reserved room through Booking.com. Cheapest hotel in the area with a pool. Excellent customer service at the front desk. Fast check in. Comfortable beds. The hotel was clean. The room was clean. Good continental breakfast. Would stay here again on our next visit through the area.
Good hotel...extremely clean...Breakfast was basic but good...room seemed recently renovated with nice amenities...
the Hotel itself was good , no complaints on my room , however travelled with a team and some of their room doors wouldn't close/ lock properly , ants in some of the rooms on ground floor , the worst part is it's situated in crack central , bunch of weirdos outside , alcoholics drinking in the parking lot in their truck , sketchy people period , crack trailer park right next door , had stolen stuffed stashed behind my room , didn't want to open my window , bad location ! i paid a ridiculous amount to stay there , won't stay there again especially with kids
when i saw this place i thought it would be an amazing hotel. but that all changed as soon as i walked in. the people that work there are super rude. we asked for a blanket it took them a long time to get it for us and it came in a garbage bag i open it and it was the most disgusting and uncomfortable blanket i've ever felt it had blood spattered in it everywhere. then all a sudden i asked for a duvet once again came back with garbage bag with sheets in it (we asked for a duvet) Also there's a random door in our room and we open it to a hallway with cardboard boxes and missing doors from god knows where. and we keep hearing people trying to open the damn door. the walls are peeling, there's no baseboard for haft of the hotel. also the room next to us had no floors the mattress was in the hallway to our room then we leave to get dinner and we come back and the room beside us has people staying in it even though we like heard contrusion. and there was no floors did i mention that. we open the window and it's broken glass is shattered and we look outside and there's this creppy old man staring right into our window like we had no privacy and i have 3 young kids in this room and i do not like creppy men staring at my 3 kids . Don't get me started with the breakfast room. it is horrid they made my walfles burnt and the bacon was uncooked like they wanted to kill me the service was horrible. we asked in there was anywere to get water and they yelled at me and my kids. i hope you guys never come here i am tramastaze. have a good day
Great staff, they were friendly and helpful. It was a clean hotel which is always a bonus., The pool and hot tub were awesome annd my daughter made me go swimming 3 times :) also breakfast is beyond expectations.
It was satisfactory for my short stay visiting family in the area. Pros: Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast Room clean and hot tray replenished as needed. Dog friendly. Pool & hot tub area is small but clean and towels provided. Cons: wifi / internet was the biggest issue. Wifi was Not Secure, sporadic and kept dropping. No internet connection at all so couldn't watch tv in the evenings or stream on my computer. When I mentioned this I was informed renovations were not completed so not all rooms have internet. [I booked in Nov for Feb 2]
I travel a great deal every year for business and in the past year I have stayed at the Maple Ridge Best Western at least 10 nights without any problems. The breakfast buffet is filling, tasty, and my room is always made and clean upon arrival. Recent, ongoing renovations have improved the washrooms and TV's in the rooms which is nice.
The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The heat wasn't working in the first room we were in but they were able to move us to another room nearby very quickly and easily. The staff in the breakfast room cheerfully made more hot food (eggs, bacon and hash browns) when a bunch of people showed up just before the breakfast ended. Though it's an older hotel, they are undergoing renovations and everything is new, updated and very clean. If we hadn't seen the boxes of new furniture in the hallways, we wouldn't have even known they were doing renovations.. It didn't impact our visit at all. And the new beds are very comfortable! It was our first time at this location and it's very convenient for what we need to do in Maple Ridge. We'll definitely be staying there in the future.
Located pretty much near everything. They were still doing renovations but it seemed like it was almost complete. I got a nice king size bed and was surprised to see it have a full mini kitchen. 2 burner cooking stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator, pots pans and utensils. Didn't really use it but was nice to have. Don't think could do too much cooking as there was no exhaust. Room was well cleaned.
We were a family of 5 and occupied 2 efficiency rooms. Both rooms had just been renovated. The kitchenette had everything you needed (mini fridge, stove top, microwave, keurig maker, pots, new dishes)The hotel was very clean, had paid laundry and the continental breakfast was outstanding. (Waffles, eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries) The staff were so accommodating and went out of their way to make my grandkids happy.
We did a 3 night stay recently . It's a perfect location if you are competing at Maple ridge Equestrian centre. The staff are really friendly and even let me get a coffee early. Breakfast is basic , same as any standard Best Western .beds were clean and comfortableand . We had a room with a useful kitchenette. I have one issue is that my sleep was interrupted with the sound coming from the room above It sounded like an office chair rolling around and foot steps for hours until early hours of the morning. Please get rid of the office chairs on castors . I would bring ear plugs if staying at this hotel
The building is a bit old but the rooms are not bad and super clean. Breakfast was good and staff was welcoming too. My Platinum elite status was not recognized at the time of checking in and I had to ask for complimentary water myself at the time of checking out. Overall, a nice place to stay for a night with family.
Very very basic place for a big cost! The room very noisy and dated. The breakfast wasn't ideal and the car park was lined with empty beer cans. Sounds very negative but for the price of this place I expected slightly more.
Don't know about the stories of vagrants and sex workers in the car park but we had no such issues last night. This is a very clean and comfortable hotel, we didn't find the staff rude as reported, quite the opposite. Check in was quick and easy, the receptionist very polite, helpful and friendly. The hotel has a small fitness room which we used, and a small pool which we didn't. Although along a main highway, the rooms are positioned away from it and we had no road noise whatsoever. I do think it's a little pricey at £133 for one night, but accommodation in that area is somewhat limited.
This Best Western is much more poorly run than ALL the other nearby locations. 2 star service and amenities for a 3/4 star price. Rude, inexperienced, gossipy, and unprofessional staff as well. In kitchen and at front desk. The cleaning crew seemed lovely though I did only receive room cleaning service 1 out of 2 times I asked (I stayed for 3 days). Also I was on a sprained ankle and the only elevator was broken one night and the people restocking the buffet almost backed into me and bumped me TWICE because they were carrying hot plates and backing up without turning around to notice if someone new had entered the dining room. That is two out of three days this almost happened. That is very unworksafe and could expose your hotel to liabilities. Plus there were always men drinking in the parking lot after 9 pm and the carpets reeked of beer. As a woman traveling alone for business this made me a bit uncomfortable. I worked at the Coast Coal Harbour hotel for 5 years prior to becoming a teacher and non profit board member (this is why I live locally in Coquitlam but travel widely through the lower mainland for conferences and business events). I am not being overly critical. I am being honest. The POCO, Surrey, and Burnaby locations are nothing like this. Finally, my parents are refugees and I speak four languages so I do really understand that it is sometimes easier and more direct to speak a language other than English at work. That said, I think it is pretty unprofessional and inappropriate to ALWAYS be speaking a language other than English EVERY TIME a client walks by you randomly and/or is waiting while you chat to ask you a question. Finally, the one time me and another client needed service after midnight, the phone in the office rang and rang for 10 minutes, then the staff member on duty emerged looking like they had just woken from a nap. Again. I have worked the overnight shift alone and it sucks and is really . But at the end of day that is not really an excuse. Hire a night manager and have two people there overnight so your late night early morning staff are not run off their feet. When I called another location just out of curiosity to see if your branch might not currently have enough overnight staff someone bright eyed and uber polite answered the phone immediately and I could hear them dealing professionally with someone in their lobby at the same moment that me and another customer were waiting and wondering if there was someone even there
Pros: All the staff are friendly and willing to help accommodate your needs. I'm getting major home construction repairs so I made this hotel my home for a couple of months or more. The hotel provides paid laundry, good wifi, okay TV channel selections, very clean room, mini fridge, Keurig Coffee & Tea maker, microwave, a good size desk which I use to tie some flies for Fly Fishing. The main reason I chose this BW Hotel it's only 3 minutes from my workplace. Cons: Having noisy people til 1am beside your room who did not shut up even after being told by the front desk staff. Their “main” hot breakfast meal - Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, and Hashbrowns is served daily. It would be great if they served something different everyday day like Bacon. The room TV remote control sucks because you have to keep clicking the up or down arrow to get to a channel. You can't click to a specific channel. Regular channel selections and no Netflix or other streaming channels. My stay at this BW hotel has been a nice experience. You get to meet and chat with travellers specially during breakfast. They serve very good coffee! I would definitely recommend this Best Western Hotel. Again, great staff!
room wasn't clean when we arrived for check in. had to leave and come back later which was a huge pain. after returning to a "clean' room, we found a large (size of a tater tot) piece of human poop stuck to the bathroom door. there was vagrants circling the parking lot like vultures so we were in constant fear of our vehicle being broken into. there was active construction happening with a loud saw constantly going outside our door. There were people openly drinking alcohol and smoking pot right outside the entrance when I had to walk my children past. staff did not seem remotely concerned.
I was a little unsure about the hotel since it's older but they've spruced it up nicely and it was very clean. The manager took good care of us and all staff were kind. The breakfast was a nice added bonus.
Hotel open during renovation. Many things noticed being covered up with fresh paint. Room obviously not complete, no closet door, no shower curtain, burnt out light bulbs. Staff not helpful, only giving excuse that in the middle of renovations. No suggestions for local businesses.
I have stayed at 3 different hotel chains this past 12 months for my sons sporting tournaments. This hotel was my favourite by far. The pool was clean and we used it multiple times per day. Breakfast was convenient and tasty. The kitchenette was small but offered exactly what I needed to make meals for my family that allowed us to save money on take out.
Pool too cold for winter months and they sublet the pool out for private non guest swimming lessons! This pool is too small for that made us feel we as paying guests were in the way! Phone in room didn't work.
I was scowled at. I felt like I was doing something bad. Like I mentioned above, I'm pretty sure customer service isn't supposed to feel like that. When I brought to there attention about how I felt, I was in even more trouble…
The parking lot was not cleared of snow. It partially melted and then froze, so it was very dangerous and slippery when trying to maneuver suitcases. I had asked the staff if they could put salt down and they said they had, but it was obvious they had not!
Room wasn't bad, showers didn't work properly and the heat came on in the night so I woke up sweating. The continental breakfasts were awful. Staff was friendly and the parking was free. It was hard to sleep with the heat cycling on and off and the phone kept blinking but there were no messages.
I really enjoyed my stay at Best Western The staff were very friendly and helpful. Specially Simran, she suggested wonderful places and attractions in the city. The rooms are a great size and very well kept. The gym and pool area was great!!
Bad Best Western!! Electrical panels without locks in hallways for way access. Carpets in rooms are gross. Bathroom door swollen at the bottom, TV cabinet missing wood & very worn & dusty, Bad continental breakfast- frozen sausages cold potatoes out of bagels overcooked eggs Toaster sucked, Sketchy neighbourhood, Pathetic Small “bath” towels, Scratchy face cloths, painfully Bad elevator, Duvet was dirty, Broken door in 210 Broken fire door propped open by a door stop Scummy hot tub & pool Weed smoke in hallways & nothing was done. Room wasn't stocked with enough towels & facecloths, broken bathroom light & nothing was done for three days.
Clean, well located, nice sized rooms and decent value. House keeping staff is a bit loud in the mornings if you are hoping to sleep in. Need a bit more parking. Pool and hot tub where nice and clean. Elevator is a little noisy too and slow !!
I did not find anything disappointing during my stay. I read some of the negative reviews and was worried. Stayed for two nights at different dates. The first room was a but nicer than the second but nothing as bad as some claimed. The staff were very nice! The property is well maintained and no, there weren't any homeless people staying there... Only complaint is the bathrooms could be a little bigger.
We stay at lots of hotels including other best westerns. this was probably the worst one we have stayed at. We didn't feel safe there with the people hanging around the front, I'm not sure how clean it was, the breakfast was not the usual, and the people that the front couldn't speak English very well. Would probably drive to the next city before staying g here again
This hotel is in bad shape. There seems to be a hoarder with an affinity for Christmas living on the 1st floor (or maybe a squatter?). It was concerning with a young child to see this - as this person left their door propped open. The walls of the room were damaged and the whole place felt sketchy. We would not return.
Nice and clean rooms with a great and delicious breakfast. Keep up the good customer service. Form Vancouver to maple ridge the only hotel with the affordable price with excellent service. Thank you for your hospitality
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. The location of the hotel is in an area with a variety of different shopping and restaurants for convenience. I have stayed at the hotel in the past and if I am in the area in the future will stay at the hotel again.
It was nice clean hotel with great staff who went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. One of the best breakfast with lots of options for adults as well as kids. Thank you for you hospitality keep up the good work
The location is perfect and it was a very comfortable stay. Staff is very attentive. Room was very clean. Breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed hot tub bath and pool. Room was very much spacious. ……. :).
Room was not cleaned when we checked it. There was food on the floor from the people before us and 1 of the beds had food stains that were not cleaned. Not all our lights worked and it stunk. I Was only there for 1 night but we will never go back
We were meeting up with some friends near Maple Ridge and I figured that BW was a reputable brand. Unfortunately this hotel wasn't what I'd normally expect. Especially not at these prices. Firstly let me say that all the staff were incredibly friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible. However, the hotel itself isn't great. Rooms are very old and worn out. Our window didn't work, the shower tap was hanging off and I had to get the front desk to come and help us get hot water. The ground floor appears to have dogs in most rooms and smells like it too. Barking regularly, one dog angrily jumped at my daughter as we walked down the corridor. The dogs are constantly being walked so the guests have propped the fire door open to allow quick access to outside. Some guests seem to live there so have their room doors open constantly and treat the place like their own house (one seems to have decorated the room in Christmas decorations!) We were woken up our first morning with the sounds of smashing glass as our neighbours room had their window broken. The neighbour said it was a homeless person who threw a brick in, but the hotel said it was the neighbour fighting. Either way we didn't really want to stay for the second night. With no options to move elsewhere the kind staff moved us upstairs and to be fair to the place it's like a different hotel up there. I'm not really sure what to make of that except I wonder if animals are only allowed downstairs. If you have to stay there, make sure you request an upstairs room as a condition of your room. If that's not guaranteed, I'd recommend going somewhere else.
We were passing through for the night starting a vacation and it gave us what we needed, a bed to sleep. There is a Home family restaurant across the street for breakfast, which we used instead of the complimentary breakfast at the hotel (they tend to be high carb and sugar). It is a rougher location and the hotel is looking tired. Being right on Hwy 7, you get a fair bit of traffic noise. We opened the window at first for fresh air, but closed it due to noise and no screens. Undecided whether we'd stay there again.
We booked this hotel for our road trip based on price, location and previous reviews. We were a little disappointed. I'll start with the good points: - the hotel was very quiet which made for a good sleep -the bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked great -breakfast was decent and had a reasonable selection . - big parking lot- felt safe The downfalls were: -the lobby and hallways smelled of marijuana smoke.. very strong - both our sheets had burn holes in them - the furniture was very old and worn.. could use some refurbishing - the hotel rents out the pool for swimming lessons for not hotel guests -the pool and hot tub need to be cleaned better
300$ gets you broken taps in the bath tub, patched plaster in the walls, grime in the hot tub, a drippy refrigerator and smelly hallways. This place is dirty and poorly maintained. Stay here only if you have no other choice.
I am pretty sure someone died on our mattress. Had a full on crying and hyperventilating panic attack about it after discovered fluid seeping through our mattress and investigated to find giant very concerning wet stains that looked like large pools of cleaned blood. After my husband talked to front desk and they told him the only thing they could do is give us more bedding. He managed to flip our mattress. The other side was not as terrible and there was nothing else we could do. We Laid down 10 layers of bleached sheets and after imagining the very worst about what happened in this bed to have giant pools of what looked to be blood that had been known and attempted to be cleaned. We finally got a few hrs of sleep. Tried talking to front desk when we checked out /fled and ended up young woman who was only interested in running my credit card number prior obtained, Who packed an attitude and took off 39 whole dollars of our 339$ bill. The cleaner that was nearby when I showed them both pictures said oh that's bleach to the first picture I showed of liquid seeping through our sheets which would have been on our skin and she obviously new about it. The young lady back peddled and said no she said the sheets were bleached. No that was not what she said. She then gave me an attitude when I asked to speak to her manager. Which was unavailable. I intend to write a full review to post with pictures. This hotel was in the roughest shape I've ever stayed in and super worn out, curved mattress with gigantic biohazard seeping stains was beyond unacceptable. It was a ghastly and the cause of extreme distress and lack of sleep the night before we attended our dear friends funeral which was why we were here. The hotel is giving best western a terrible name. I will never stay in another. How could you let this hotel represent your brand!?
You know overall this hotel is good. It was a lot of little things that were not worth complaining about that lowered the score on my stay and will probably have me look at other hotels when im there. Hot tub dirty, wrong cereal in dispensers, key not working the second night and being told it was too close to my phone. Location is a bit away from stores. The overall stay was good just a few things that would have made it great. The preregister link they sent via email did not work and when calling ahead to tell I would be arriving late the message says the phone lines were down. Phoned BW customer service who were friendly and helpful but they still called asking where I was at 10pm
We have stayed at this hotel before as we travel to maple ridge to visit family. This hotel is in a great area close to all amenities. Everyone one working here seem to love their jobs. They were all polite, courteous and friendly. It is always a pleasure to stay here. The hot breakfast is fabulous. A great way to start your day. Great job
Definitely not worth the price. The room was old and needed updating, although it was clean. The beds were okay. Not many offerings for breakfast. Front desk staff was not super friendly or quick. The pool looked like it was being used for lessons with people not staying at the hotel. For $150 I could've stayed somewhere much nicer.
Booked a room three weeks in advance. Traveled five hours to be told at 10 pm that they double booked our room. The employee was unapologetic and offered no help. I spent hundreds of dollars extra, due to traveling back and forth because of this 'mix up'.
The hotel is a little dated and tired, but otherwise ticks all the boxes! Friendly staff always willing to go the extra mile! We had a flickering sconce and they replaced the bulb right away! Well done!! A 9/10 in my book!!
-Pretty old, worn out looking. Didn't notice much smells though, so that's a positive. -Both sheets, blanket, and 2 of 3 bath towels had large, highly visible stains. They seriously need new linens. I got replacement sheets, but she gave me the blanket covers instead of sheets, and guess what, BOTH were hugely stained. -Huge gap under the door (like, 1/2"!) so any slight noise in the hall is very clearly heard in the room. -Stuck with the HC room as it was the only choice, but the toilet is not to code and would be nearly impossible for someone in a wheelchair to use. - Because it was a HC room, sink was 15ft from the bathroom. but the only towel rack was back IN the bathroom. So you have to go 15ft from the toilet, wash hands, and then 15ft back to bathroom to dry your hands....Seriously?!?! - Always out of towels in the pool. I had to ask everytime, and she forgot to come the 3rd time, so we had to walk back to our room wet. -The pool was being used for private lessons for non-guests. I'm paying for use of the pool by staying here, so why are they letting people from outside come to the pool and taking up a lot of the space? -Breakfast was decent. Had hot food like waffles, hashbrowns, eggs, and sausages along with the usual stuff like bagels juice and coffee.
My wife and I stayed there for a couple of days to attend a wedding and after staying in quite a few different BW hotels, this one had the smallest bathroom area I have ever seen. If you stand in front of the sink, and try to comb your hair, it is too tight between the walls and the area around it ( and we have very average body height and shape). I STRONGLY recommend checking the room BEFORE checking in. If I had checked it, I would not have stayed there. Staff was very nice, but that was the main good thing. Our room wasn't very clean, fridge wasn't working properly, the elevator was smelling pretty bad... Again, if you check the minuscle bathroom area, you probably will stay some place else for the same money...
We travelled recently to attend a family funeral. Issue: three couples were at this hotel, but none of us had a room large to host everybody for some post-event visiting. Solution: they let us use the breakfast cafeteria room for a private soiree that evening. Thank you Harpreet for exemplary customer service! We also found time to use the pool & hot tub. There's no dinner service at this hotel but there's perfectly adequate family dining right across the street.
Good value for the money. Indoor pool and hot tub even during the winter, laundry service and complimentary breakfast included. Pet friendly rooms as well. Unless you travel with a giraffe. Probably not so much then. Guest service experience was priceless. Would definately stay again!
Felt like a dungeon we checked out 2 pet rooms Our dog just came from the spa and wouldn't even let him stay here Cleark she was very kind and understanding That's it how do you get 200 plus words on leaving a hotel Bottom line it was not up to our standards
Unforseen circumstances left us with needing a place to stay for the night and the first place that came up was Best Western. It was a welcome experince on a cold night. The room was clean and quite. The breakfast was very good.
The room and hallways smelled like cigarettes, especially our bathroom. And the bed sheets had stains on them which made us question the cleanliness of the room itself. I have always had a decently pleasant experience at a Best Western, except this one.
Thank you for your Awesome service in this difficult times. I really appreciate all the staff for way beyond the expectations to make my stay. This place serves one of the best breakfast. Keep up the good work Thank you
Hotel was clean, reception was friendly. This was the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. From the screaming kids and elephants staying upstairs, and hearing loud conversations outside my door in clear detail at all hours, it's given me enough reasons to never stay here again. I've stayed in MANY hotels over the years thanks to work travel, and this experience has surpassed them all as being the worst due to noise. I know that staying in hotels that you can hear people in hallways and sometimes your neighbours. But this is bad.
Warning bed bugs a plenty!!! Arrived late around 11pm on a business trip 7-Sep-2021. Hotel room was not cleaned very well. Odor of cigarette smoke. Worst of all around midnight I discovered a bed bug on one pillow. I looked around for more and could see none. I called front desk and complained, basically got the shrug. In the morning there were 5 bed bugs that I could see in the bed, absolutely disgusting. I cancelled the rest of my stay and moved to another hotel. They charged me for the first night. I called and complained about this, no response. I contacted Best Western via their web site and complained, no response. I chose Best Western because I have done so for business on many occasions and never had any major problems. This was just a terrible experience from the beginning and worst of all no call back or any contact from anyone at the hotel or Best Western. I'll be staying elsewhere from now on.
Renovating my house Needed a place that was local Staff was great, room was clean Made an effort to accommodate me I have stayed there before I would defiantly stay there again The pool was nice and the sauna was a great added touch
Stayed 5 nights, hotel is located on a highway with difficult access, interior rooms showing age and use, no room service for 2 days of the stay as no room service housekeeping cards for the door knob.
Were do I start... I booked to rooms personally for my nieces wedding, we checked in on August 28/21 for 2 nights. We first walked into our daughters room because we had to leave our dog in their room because she had the PET Friendly room. It smelt like SMOKE (Non Smoking YA RIGHT) then my granddaughter went to have a shower and the pully (To turn the shower on was broken.. Could not have a shower, so she went up to my room to have her shower, well she then could not turn the tap off... It just kept going around and around (Finally my hubby got it shut off.) So looking in the bathtub well it was disgusting.. the mat was all peeling off and looked filthy. So I thought I am going to pull back the sheets on the beds.. And what do I fined?? A BUG in the bed.. OK now I am furious.. I got my husband to look under the beds and there was garbage under the beds. So I call down to the front desk and YES I was YELLING at the girl.. I know not her fault but I was done... The girl at the front desk hung up on me.. So I tried calling her again and she would not answer, so I went down to the front desk and as I am talking to her my Niece (the Bride) shows up as does my Nephew (And his wife and child) and he dad and wife. They all check in and so my Niece and I go up to her room to see what it is like and guess what?? There is BLACK hair on the sheets, their is Glass rings on the side table (easy fix wipe it down) My niece had to use the toilet (the lid was down so she lifted the lid) and guess what?? There was yet another surprise someone left for her diarrhea in the toilet (without toilet paper), the juccuzie tub had a dirty ring around it as well. Well is that not enough?? Nope... I spoke to my Nephew's wife and she said that there was a bag of Hashbrowns left in her fridge and in his Dad's room there was food left in their fridge as well. Like come on already. I asked to speak to the Owner/Manager well he threatened to call the police and have us thrown out (Just my room) because I yelled and the girl at the front desk. We would have left believe me I tried to find another Hotel room (Had to be Pet Friendly) but there was nothing. So we had to stay. The Manger/Owner? I don't know He never introduced himself to me... Just yelled at me as well went to my husband in our room (I was not there at the time) and started yelling at him as well. My husband was no way involved in this. Oh yes they did come and take those sheets off and put clean ones on (They did not tuck the sheets in or anything.. No even put the pillows back on the bed, nor did they change the pillow cases. OK So that all happen Saturday night.. So Sunday (Day of the wedding) my Niece was in her room she had her hair and make up gal there.. And all of a sudden the breaker blew... lol OK so we call the front desk again and the same guy (Manager/Owner) came up.. After about 20 minutes he couldn't fix it. So he said we will tidy up this room (right beside) so she can use it to get ready... Well at least he did that without a fight. But it was just tidied that was it.. We just used the room to steam her dress... Later that night... Bride and Groom are married come back to their room as well get their teenaged boys booked into their room.. Well here we go again.. The front desk wants to charge her a Deposit of $600.00 169.95 plus taxes and a additional $400.00 and something Pre Authorization on her C/C. Well at by this time she has maxed out her C/C and said I don't have that much room on my C/C I can give you CASH... NOPE we don't except cash. This was at 12 midnight they were trying to get their kids booked in. It ended up that after paying for 2 nights in the room already, the Bride and Groom had to leave the hotel with their 3 boys because they would not except a CASH DEPOSIT. So they went up to the room cleaned out their belongings and left the hotel at now almost 1 am. Bride and Groom still in there wedding attire. They were not offered a refund or a discount... The guy at the front desk came around the desk when the groom went to get their car and stood there in a very intimidating way towards my niece and her 3 sons. This is not right... Please help DO NOT EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL Lori Rapp
The room is very cold. Not able to turn down ac. The tub took hours to drain. The tub and surround we're worn and needs replacing. The door in bathroom looked like a rat had chewed the bottom. Paid over $200 a night. Definitely not worth the money. N
The hotel was fine, we didn't have any issues. There was no fresh coffee offered in the morning which was a little disappointing. I realize we are shortly "post COVID" but I think if the hotels will not clean your room, offer coffee and such then the rates should reflect the service level.
Cons: The hotel is old and lacking in upkeep. Simple things like repainting have been overlooked. The pool is tiny. Elevator is slow and small. Pros: The staff was friendly. The hotel is small, so not hard to get to your room and settle in. The elevator works. It was a place to sleep, and was quiet. The hotel is outdated and old, lacking updated decor. I always choose Best Western, this was not my favourite and I will choose a different one next time.
Wow! We arrived at this hotel, looking forward to a two day visit. I had been up working since 5am so I was ready to drop, but the room was so disgusting that we couldn't last more than a minute in there. The air was dank with an unidentifiable & unhealthy stench which cut through the mask I was wearing in a single breath. Closer examination of the room revealed an obvious round stain on the bed. I don't want to know what it was. We walked back to the front desk negotiating our way past mop buckets & a broken heater laying on the floor. The nice lady at the service counter offered to change the sheet & spray Lysol around the room. Ha!! Not a chance! A dog barked at the bedroom door as we took the lady to check the room. We left & stayed at the very nice Pitt Meadows Best Western instead. The Pitt Meadows hotel refunded our damage deposit within a couple of days, there has been no action from the one at Maple Ridge. No response from head office, nothing. We got our refund from Agoda instead. Do yourself a favour & avoid this place, I'm really not too picky & thought I could sleep anywhere that night, but it was foul. Drive 8 minutes down the road to a place that has an understanding of basic hygiene & customer service
It was a wonderful experience during this difficult time rooms and hotel were clean and comfortable. Best Western Maple Ridge never fails to deliver superior guest service. Thank you for all your hard work. Exceptional staff keep up the good work.
Reception was excellent; room was spacious. Gal at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure that our room air conditioning was working prior to our arrival. Beautiful welcoming smile. Check in was easy as was checkout with Grab and Go Breakfast bag. We will be back - Recommendation for Supper at the Home Restaurant across this street was great
The staff at the BW in Maple Ridge were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the room was a good size. We were also able to use the pool while there, which made the trip even better. I would highly recommend the BW in Maple Ridge.
Yes it's a Best Western so you assume at least a minimal amount of decency. Not the case here. This is Maple Ridge at it's worst. Located in an area where lots of drug users and prostitutes hang out, you can't feel safe leaving your vehicle outside. When my Mom stayed here she had strange people hanging out by her truck smoking and leaning on her truck. No cameras outside and lots of dark areas in the parking lot. Next, poor customer service. The hotel manager stormed into our room one morning while we were changing. He turned around to leave once he saw saying “wrong room”, and never apologizing for it. Third, our room did not feel clean and reeked off heavy perfume or cologne. It was like someone spilled a bottle of cheap stuff on the carpet. Lastly, the thermostat didn't work and the mini fridge buzzed loudly all night. In summary, do not stay here or at any hotel in Maple Ridge. Go to Port Coquitlam or Langley instead.
Awesome time staff was was extremely nice and professional , made you feel right at home, any thing we asked for we had no issues with , again very friendly , definitely would reccomend this place to any one
Central quiet location, super clean rooms will definitely bring us back to this location again. Staff were friendly and accommodated a special request without hesitation. Keep up the terrific service, it is appreciated.
It's a very decent place to stay. It's pretty nice and clean. There are quite a lot of good restaurants nearby. Price and location were good. The pool/hot tub area was very kept up. It looked like brand new.
Nice hotel, it's very clean, rooms are quiet. Staff is polite and very helpful. It's a great alternative to expensive airport hotels. The added bonus is indoor pool and hot tub. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone with great expectations.
Everything was great! Very nice location, clean and staff is super helpful and polite. We have been there More than once and have always enjoyed the clean rooms and amenities. What more a person could ask for? They also accommodate pets. I look forward to staying here every time I am in maple ridge.
The party lasted from 2am to 6am, we reported to front desk about 10 times, I asked them to be quiet but was approached by a couple of guy not wearing masks. We had a 10 hour drive the next day and was exhausted and had to stop and get another room half way, so extended our travel time and cost for another room. We asked for a discount for the whole debacle, but was told they were not allowed to give discounts. Very unsatisfactory.
Rude staff, drunk “welcoming” guests, homeless people wandering inside and out, we were accosted, followed, and had 3 attempts from “guests” trying to buy drugs, NEVER AGAIN!' Left 20 Min later and was charged full price!! Keep your money LOL, maybe fill your pop machine !! Clean the beer cans from it, and wash some of your “guests”
At first I thought it was a smoking hotel. It reeks of cigarette smoke. Expect no sleep if that is what you need to do at this hotel. The crackheads will keep you up all night. First night I went and got my ear plugs. There was in and out of the room across from me 4 a.m. The walls are thin and you hear everything. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved to a quiet spot. Of course the same thing happens the next night only right next door. The staff do nothing, scared maybe or just don't care. Never would I believe this is a Best Western. Room are very small. Old renovation that is now showing miles. If your a big person you'll barely fit in the bathroom. Beyond disappointed, I travel lots and this is on my top 3 worst hotels in Canada.
Hotel was very rundown. Room was very dirty even during this time of Covid when the hotel boasts high cleaning standard. Mattress was past its' prime. Furniture scarred and scratched. Dirty spots/stains on surfaces and walls. Lobby smelled like weed and being close to a homeless shelter and with a trailer park right next door, lots of people hanging about the poorly lit parking lot. Hotel needs to be totally gutted and renovated.
Someone was yelling in the hall at 2am and then again at 8am - this time by the cleaning staff!!! When asked to be quiet they looked at us as if we were interrupting their arguing. Wooden stick needed to lock window, furniture distressed, fridge not cold, and lumpy bed Many of the guests looked like street people, were playing a guitar in the lobby, didn't wear masks, and would go sit in cars in the parking lot for a while before returning to the hotel. To their credit, the front desk girl was very nice and the pool/hot tub was good. However, this does not begin to make up for what was otherwise a very poor experience. The worst part of this story is that I see now these concerns have been brought up on TA before, BW have promised improvements, and nothing appears being done. Note to self: Always check TA before booking a reservation
We stayed at the BW with the family as a birthday present to my son who really wanted to swim in a pool. The pool was clean, but the room wreaked of smoke, the windows did not lock and the room was dirty feeling. We were told we could be provided with another piece of wood to secure the window but I did not feel comfortable staying in a room that smelt as bad as it did and was not secure. We were told that no one had been broken into yet - but I wasn't going to be the first to have that happen to. We didn't see any cleaning staff there our entire stay. The front desk finally moved us rooms (after saying they could not) and the room itself was a bit cleaner, but we went to use some of the dishes that were in the room and they had old food still on them, crumbs in the cupboards and the wine glasses were all smudged and had not been cleaned. We opened up the drawers next and there was crumbs and a mess in them also. We made do as my son would have been really upset to have to leave - but I was so unimpressed and very disappointed and would NEVER stay there again. For the price also, it was terrible.
my husband and I stayed 3 nights the end of October. We arrived at approx 2pm Friday to check in, had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to come back to the hotel to check us in, all the while the hotel is wide open to anyone who may want to enter. The websites talks about all the "covid safety measures" I myself don't care, but if you're advertising all staff wearing masks, then you SHOULD WEAR MASKS we head up to our room on the way up the stairs we see multiple handprints smeared on the walls ( where's the covid cleaning there?) by the way, the handprints were still there Monday morning, obviously never looked at the stairs were barely vacuumed as was the hallway. Get into our room, the chair for the desk is so worn the threads are all that's left of the *leather* seat. The room again is barely vacuumed, one thin cover on the bed with no extras in the room. The clock radio made such weird popping hissing noises I unplugged it for fear of a fire. Go to watch TV for a few minutes, there's no remote, call to the desk she brings one up, it wont work... my husband tries a while then goes to the front desk where he's told oh try channel 212 ( maybe she could have told us that when dropping off the remote? ) As I said we stayed 3 nights, I never saw not even one cleaning staff, none. only after the 2nd night did anyone bring in clean towels or more coffee and then our key wont work, back to the front desk. No breakfast ( apparently they have a bagged take away breakfast but that was never mentioned to us) when we went to check out Monday morning, again no one to be found no one to give us a receipt, or to complain to ... again doors wide open inviting the several homeless people that wander the streets to go in with no one to stop them ( or worse ) @ 125.00 a night you would expect more... and the fact that they claim higher cleaning standards is truly a joke, we wont be staying here again despite the fact that the location for my purpose of staying is close , I'll do the drive to Langley where there are some decent options
First of all - the front desk lady was sweet and very professional! The location was close to where we needed to be for business so we stayed but in hindsight we should have stayed elsewhere. The room was so rundown and beat up. They've done nothing to even attempt to mask the disrepair. It was pointless complaining as the other rooms we saw looked the same. The hall smelled really bad as well. Definitely some creative use of images for the website. We will stay elsewhere when we're back for business. The BW brand should be embarrassed that they've allowed this to happen to this property. Positives: Again, the front desk lady was great. Shower pressure was really good. Location was good. Negatives: Everything else. Advice: Stay in Langley or similar and drive the extra 15-20 minutes.
Our team had a good stay here for a tournament - the price was right, staff were extremely attentive, and the rooms were clean. The staff also tried hard to provide a decent breakfast and the hot choices were much appreciated by the boys.
Friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Hot breakfast plus continental assortment -eggs sausage make your own waffle with several toppings. Quiet for a good nights sleep. Exercise room and indoor pool a bonus. I
Very clean hotel with friendly staff, good breakfast, and good fitness center. Near a few restaurants, close enough to Surrey, Maple Ridge, and Coquitlam. Enough parking spots and good value for the money.
I stayed with my husband there third time . Every time I feel that the staff of this hotel is so cooperative and I feel as I'm in my home . Morning breakfast is too good and fresh , they give free room service daily, change everything like as bed sheets, towels etc .so I recommend that if u r searching hotels then u should choose BEST WESTERN in maple ridge hotel because they give special discount if u want to stay more days .
The hotel room smelled bad, worse in the bathroom, then we noticed the toilet was leaking all over the bathroom floor. The front desk put us in another room but it smelled musty. The rooms had a feeling that they weren't clean. Probably my last stay at Maple Ridge.
Hotel has done some new Reno and it is very welcoming. Staff is very friendly and professional love the morning breakfast with lots of options available. Pool and hot tub is a big plus for this hotel as there are not many hotels in the area. Thank you for your hospitality.
the feeling of being at home. friendly, knowledgable staff,. very welcoming. grest quailty service.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.great breakfast, great rooms, smiling staff, .Id highly recommend this place. theres a hottub, exercise room.
Stayed for a few nights while visiting family. Room was clean, had a Keurig coffee maker, large bar fridge and a microwave which was convenient. Continental breakfast was excellent! Hot items were offered with a wide variety of other items. The pool was heated and very clean, as well as the hot tub. The fitness room looked nice although I never used it. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel away from the highway.
Rooms needed updating bed ,carpet, windows . Washroom showed its age wall need painted tub needs replaced along with shower. Rooms closer to main road very noisy.TV went out with signal lose.Location hard to get out of first thing in moring . Did not get the chance to use pool or Gym.Staff at the hotel nice and ready to help.At the time of this booking no other hotels had rooms so the rate on this room was way over priced for the area and hotel room.
What I need most in a hotel is a clean bed and bathroom. While the bed was clean one of the pillowcases had a nailpolish stain on it. The bathtub was visibly dirty and there were a few items in disrepair in the room. A place to sleep but a bad value for the location and quality
Great accommodating hotel with great staff and excellent food and service any guest can hope for. Thank you for such a great host which always me feel at home. Your staff is the best I ever experienced
This is one of the filthiest, run down hotels I have ever stayed in. I understand that we were not in a five star hotel but generally BWs are acceptable and consistent. Upon checking in, I went to put stuff in the fridge and there were empty liquor bottles and a pizza box. I pulled out the sofa bed and it was full of taco chip pieces. Clearly the sofa bed had not been changed. I informed the desk clerk and she had housekeeping take care of it while we were out. The bathroom was another story. The bottom of the shower curtain was covered in pink mould, and the start of black mould growth. I was told if I informed the hotel they would have taken care of it. At $200/night, I would expect it to at least be clean, but the whole place felt grungy.
Our room was very clean, staff was very friendly & helpful, and we Loved the breakfast - so impressed that it included hot items - eggs, potatoes, sausage, and waffles. Coffee was not so great, but everything else was! Room was a bit crowed with the 2 queen beds - not much extra room.
Not worth the money. It's funky and not sure how clean this place is. Just doesn't feel clean. Overlooking the parking stalls. The restaurant looked nice but the service and the food was below standard Food was way too salty and peppered. Way overpriced for fast food type served in the restaurant. The service was marginal.
Walls were stained, floor boards black, lobby smelled like bleach. Room smelled musty, bathroom back of toilet and sides were dirty. Carpet was not clean. Honestly even for a night I wouldn't do it again . Wood stick in between window and frame holding it closed. Felt vary unsafe and unsanitary.
The employee at the front desk was very good in her greeting and attending to me during my two night stay. The room was just right for my needs . Breakfast quite good along with the employee looking after that area. More then adequate parking area and easy in and out to the Highway . No excessive noise heard from the Highway to the room .
Just got back from Best Western Maple Ridge, at first were a little concerned after reading some reviews but the place was friendly, clean and holds a strict no smoking, drugs or violence policy. The breakfast is a little repetitive but still considering the place is a smallish hotel on the side of a highway and at a reasonable price you cannot turn your nose up at it. Definitely will be returning
Average hotel which I can recommend for families. Free WiFi was on average speed but reliable enough to stream video or music. Breakfast and swimming pool available. Maybe just smaller parking lot. Not built for larger vehicles or trailers. There is a bigger parking across the street at the front of the stores. When i say an average hotel I mean it. It's not five star with golden toilet seats but it's also not stinky dump hole where you're afraid to take your shoes off on stained carpets or moldy bathrooms. If you're not tooooo picky. you will be just fine. You get what you pay for. Decent rooms, clean bathroom and quiet over night.
We were vacationing in Vancouver specifically and this was a really good option to help us save on accommodation. The front desk staff are not what I would call “chatty” and the overall decor was dated, but the property was clean, the housekeepers were very attentive, and the pool was almost always empty so we got to enjoy that amenity by ourselves (it's awesome). Breakfast was standard fare, but clearly homemade which is always appreciated. I'll definitely consider staying here again when I go back to Vancouver.
Everything was OK for the value, clean room, standard good breakfast, clean and not that busy pool and hot tub area. Despite of the location - right on the HWY 7, no noise was heard, good sound protection (with windows closed and AC on)
The hotel is cozy, comfortable, quiet and with a great breakfast including egg, milk, breads, cheese, etc. The rooms are nice and the bed is comfortable. Really can't complain. The staff are friendly too.
Dark, drab, dated decor. Paper thin small towels. First room we were shown hadn't been cleaned. Windows were filthy and opened with the help of a stick. Very poor quality breakfast all prepacked. Appalling use of single plastic waste. Been in Canada for 4 weeks and this is the worst by far. Best western have let themselves down badly here.
Never staying there again... Terrible experience, no coffee cream, unclean bedding, no coffee cream and unsanitary food handling of complementary breakfast and terrible upkeep. Was offered complimentary water to go when complained.
I had a decent stay at this hotel. The pool area was great and the front desk staff were very nice. I mark this hotel down for the rooms. It was clean . The window did not lock and we were in the first floor which was a bit scary . The microwave couldn't be plugged in without remove it ti the desk. The drain in the shower didn't work well. Unless this hotel is updated or the price drops don't think we will. W staying here again.
Hotel needs an overhaul. Rooms are dark and paint/paper are peeling. Bathroom cleaning was minimal, if any. Didn't use the pool, so can't comment on its cleanliness. Not much value for the money. Breakfast was only ok. Would not return.
I'd like to send out a big thank you to Amit and the entire staff at the Best Western Maple Ridge for sponsoring a youth empowerment initiative in a local elementary school, by helping out with accommodations for the tour. It made a big difference as a touring musician to have such a very comfortable stay while on the road around friendly and helpful staff.
Whether I was busy scurrying through my day, or lazing around the "house", once I closed my hotel room door, I was worry-free. Peace and quiet, chores done by someone else, a clean room and the TV remote in hand, or free and fast WiFi available. Convenience stores, gas stations, transit, and excellent restaurants nearby.
Excellent breakfast staff and daily breakfasts. Entire property is clean and staff have a great sense of pride. Keep up the good work. pool and hot tub is attraction for this hotel nice and very clean.
Our reception was warm and friendly and we were offered a choice of some very nice rooms as Diamond Select BW members. This hotel does an exceptional job of recognizing those who stay at Best Western hotels frequently. Our room was a two room suite with a full sitting area that had a sofa bed a luggage bench and a large foot stool. There was also a small TV. The main room had a larger TV, an easy chair, microwave, TV and Keurig coffee service. We really lacked for nothing. All was very clean and the HVAC unit worked well - it was early April and I needed to warm the room up quickly. The heat (controlled by a wall thermostat) came on immediately. Breakfast was fine and I liked that they had a dark roast coffee choice. They had some very tasty sausages!!
Drove down from Kelowna for family gathering, stayed the weekend at Best Western in Maple Ridge. It was Ok but not great-for the price we paid I thought it would be much nicer especially the breakfast-pretty bad. Eggs made by microwave/not sure if they were even meat sausages, 1 or 2 bananas for the whole hotel, coffee was aweful. prob best was make your own toast or waffle. Check in was good-average. Room was good. 2 queens on 2nd floor and doubles on main/first floor. rooms are awful on first floor. better on second. fairly central to everything . limited parking spots if hotel full. Only thing that really noticable for a hotel was the morning cleaning staff totally ignore you not 1 said good morning...you would never find that in other countries or hotels in general. Manager....you might want to address this-it does make a difference for people writing reviews!!!
Its a run down hotel they rebranded hoping to make look pretty. We always stay at a best western becuase they are always a nice hotel. This was denfinatly not a not nice one. The room was super tiny, beds were old just looking at them. Go to have a shower and there is 2 of the smallest towels I have ever seen and the tub wont drain. Go to check out the next morning and I got "oh sorry about that I'll make sure it's in the maintenance list" we went to the free breakfast and that was just as bad. The eggs looked like they were sitting there for years made with no care and the sausages were just as bad.
The front desk staff was very helpful, and he made us to feel at home. This is first choice of hotel in maple ridge . we were so impressed that we looked forward on staying here again. So we did. I like the suites, everything is provided in the room. I also like the parking lot and its close to everything.Great Service
This hotel had clean bright rooms. It had a fridge microwave and coffee and tea in room. Beds were very comfortable! We stayed for a week to see sights around Vancouver area and visit a friend. It was easy to find!
Excellent breakfast. Only complaint is breakfast is over at 9:30am. No time to sleep in a bit longer if we wanted to eat. Both front office and breakfast staff were friendly, courteous, ensured our visit was enjoyable and always had a smile. We were made to feel very welcome. We will certainly book with this Best Western Hotel for our next time visit.
First the good. 2 queen room was decent size, updated and clean. Bathroom area is quite small, 1 person at the sink/mirror only, so that slows mornings down when 4 to a room. Beds/pillows were comfy, wifi was good, TV/cable was decent. Breakfasts were quite good for being included, scrambled eggs, decent sausages, waffles, fresh fruit, and all the other typical stuff. Pool and hot tub were in order, although the pool is on the small side. Now the not so good. Had a room at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor. There is an emergency exit door with signage indicating emergency only, alarm will sound at front desk, etc. Door is frequently propped open so lazy smokers can stand right outside the door and smoke. The smoke blows right back into the hotel and we could smell it in our room everytime someone went out there, which was frequently. Also, room next door came back late one night after the bar (2:30am) and was extremely loud and actually playing a bluetooth speaker, etc. No one came to shut them down, maybe a phone call, but they carried on for a good 45 minutes. Parking is OK, but getting in and out of the hotel can be a challenge when hwy 7 is busy.
Fantastic service. The pool room and work-out room are excellent. The breakfast room was fabulous. The staff were friendly, helpful, well-mannered, and cheerful. The woman stocking the breakfast area was superb at her job. Very enjoyable stay.
The rooms are clean and clearly remodeled. I was in the standard 2 queen room, no kitchenette. Housekeeping is strange. They are very forgetful. They skipped our room and tried to say we put a "do not disturb sign" (not true). Called them back but took an hour to respond. We just needed new towels and linen and would do it ourselves. Then as we are leaving, I explained that we were checking out a bit late (11:15 am) and I had informed front desk. She looked at me and said "well don't mess up the room, we just cleaned it" (another .. not, but whatever). They clean fine but seem irritated about having to clean it. Also, DON'T expect any adjustments for legitimate hotel errors, cancellation refunds beyond their allowed time, or for anything else for that matter. Clearly, they don't want to return any money if they don't have to. It's like pulling teeth. Just don't bother. I agree with others who say it feels a bit like a "market" versus a hotel industry. Same breakfast items daily.
It was nice and cozy and really loved the kitchenette saved money instead of going out to eat and bought our food for the weekend and even took a movie in at the theatre at the mall Only one way to enter and exit the hotel but worth the stay
No price adjustment when I arrived with two teenage boys for the two room “suite” and there was no water coming out of the broken shower hardware. I went to the front desk and asked if there was another room I could put the boys in fir the showering and I would stay in the room that I had. She says yes. Later she called he at my HOME number (why????) to tell me the other room was not available. I did not find this out till we returned Kate that night. We had no time to deal with it before we left fir dinner Management did NOT fix it while we were at Christmas dinner. Coming back very late found the cot I paid extra fir NOT in with the sofa bed but next to my bed. A simple sheet and one pillow with no pillow case and one blanket still in plastic. Sofa bed opened with no pillows and only I sheet draped across bed. No blankets. Went to front desk and man leisurely looked fir more bedding out if pillows. I grabbed two extra blankets and went back up to the room at now 130 am and now began moving furniture around d to get the cot mattress into the small room the sofa bed was in. Made up the beds with whatever we had and we went to bed dirty and tired. In the morning We did NOT eat breakfast at the hotel or use the toiletries. There was no way the desk clerk NAZIM was going to give me a partial refund even though they charged $155 plus a $50 damage deposit!!! He said I wouldn't let them in to fix the plumbing which is a lie. I told him I shouldn't pay for the room at all since we didn't use it's services, there being no other room to move into and we left before breakfast. In terms of customer service at Christmas you would think something might budge. I finally said $50 and then he haggled. He didn't want to call the manager. At this point I getting mad and am going to phone head office. He finally says ok to the 50 but it's too late for me. Why should I have to argue about this for 30 minutes ???!!! He missed his chance to do the right thing And now I am really angry. It's not a market it's a hotel. A complete mess with no one wanting to Make it right. The hotel was basically clean with good housekeeping other than the broken shower and the broken closet door. A simple and cheap fix. The halls smelled of stale smoke. It's a bit shabby and I thought 150 must have. Been the Christmas pricing. It's all probably empty now. I gave some phoning to do tomorrow!!!
Everything perfect, as expected. Even the hot tub was hot! Stayed here last year as well and have not been disappointed with anything. Recognition as Gold member appreciated. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
Room smelled terrible, streaks on walls in room, kitchenette stove missing element, fire extinguishers out of date and expired, staff living at hotel, staff working in pajamas and eating while working in dining room, waited half hour for breakfast items (eggs) to be filled before I had to leave for work, hot tub not clean and chemicals off, staff at front desk glued to their cell phones, no pool towels (had to be brought in), graffiti in spa bathroom, and no call back from administration when I called to let them know I was checking out and into another hotel... they don't seem to care I guess.
Great location for area and overall a good night for the money.Hotel is clean and staff are very nice and willing to help in anyway. The decor is dated but for the money,it is a stay for us when we are down in that area for an occassion.
Room was clean and spaciouswarm and helpful staffhot and delicious breakfastcomfort beds and clean sheetsfast check-in and check-outIndoor pool and sauna and Hot tub convenient locationreasonable price
My husband and I stayed here for 2 days. It's right outside of Vancouver, and not as busy too. There were many decent restaurants and businesses nearby. The free continental breakfast was very good. The service from the front desk was friendly. The rooms were very nice too. The bed was comfy and the pillows were too. As nice as you can expect from a Best Western! They also had a pool and hot tub which we did not use but looked inviting. My favorite feature was the fresh water they had with lemon slices by the front desk.
I was pleased by many things...the friendly staff throughout, even though first guy was just on cell when I arrived and finished up texting before saying hi. After that all positives... Good breakfast hostess Good breakfast options Nice working hot tub with nice working jets! And clean Clean room Quiet Safe A small fridge and microwave included I slept well $120 a night plus tax so somewhat affordable To improve please... Just play some light fare music as in classy rock, (classic rock), in pool room...that would have made it more awesome and maybe even 5 star worthy! I also let clerk know when I checked out so lets see! Music just makes it that much more enjoyable. It was so dark out so was glad to stumble upon this place after a move help job in Vancouver earlier in the evening Oct 4th. Was not chancing driving back to Kelowna that night, that late. Glad I made this choice.
Great location with Home restaurant and car wash across the street. Very friendly staff with great service. Room is a little dated but ammenities were very good and the price was good as well. Close to downtown where visited Walmart a number of times for odds and ends.
Excellent staff! exceptional breakfast! great value for money.. I was here for a conference and was 30 minutes from the conference site so that I could stay at a Best Western. It was worth it. I would stay here again
Large rooms, clean. Rooms near the road subject to road noise. Good free breakfast, friendly staff. Easy to find. Pool looked clean. Still have bathtubs / showers. Some people had booking issues, but we didn't
Ants, holes in wall & bathroom faucet hanging in the shower. Manager unavailable. No other room available to get away from the ants. Room smelled like someone had smoked in it. Bedside light not working
Generally this is an expensive part of Canada to visit, but the BW MR does offer good value for dollars; I typically rate - Workspace - Excellent workspace (desk) Wifi - Fast wi-fi Gym - Good gym, pool Bed - good support and a variety of pillows I couldn't sort out the TV because the last guest must have changed the input and the manager fixed that right away. So kuddos for great service!
We stayed at this hotel during my daughter's tournament. Great Hotel, very clean and quiet. Pool and hot tub area also kept clean. Staff were great. Would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
I was welcomed and given a pleasant room. The free breakfast was fake scrambled eggs and shriveled sausage, with barefoot children running about. The staff was very friendly. Its a basic hotel and is good for tourists
I've stayed here 3 times over the years when we've needed a room for 2 nights and this was inexpensive at $99/night. Parking was free for 1 vehicle. The rooms are older, the walls are thin and the beds are basic with thin sheet-like blankets, but our room was clean and had 2 Queen size beds. The staff allowed us to check-in slightly early and were courteous. I won't lie - my daughter picks this hotel because of the breakfast because there's a waffle maker (machine) to go along with the continental breakfast. If you're sensitive to sounds, request a room not facing the Highway, and away from the pool - it gets quite loud when kids are screaming in that room. This is a popular hotel for large groups to book together because it's affordable and close to shopping, transportation, restaurants, etc.
The staff at the Best Western in Maple Ridge is exceptional. All of them are friendly! The manager went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome. The morning breakfast concierge was THE BEST! Her name is Raj and she provided excellent service. She would smile and greet everyone, ask if they needed anything anything. Above and beyond wonderful.
Yes, it was clean and the staff were great. But the beds were HORRIBLE. I will not stay here again until the mattresses have been updated. Also no soundproofing, so everything from the hallways (doors closing, guests talking and walking) echoes throughout the entire hallway and under the doors to the guest rooms. The Continental Breakfast, the scrambled eggs and sausages are microwaved. Everything else is great (non-perishable breakfast items). This was our first stay at a Best Western and it may very well be our last.
I enjoyed the quick responses to my inquiries. When I needed assistance I got it in a timely manner. I wish I'd brought my bathing suit but the trip was a quick one and being so close to Maple Ridge Hospital was one of the draws to the Best Western.
Having stayed here for business for just 1 night, I am extremely glad I was departing the following day. First of all you should know the location is noisey at all hours of the night because it's on a major highway. Secondly, some of the patrons who stay here on a Sunday night looked super rough, drugs, loud music. Lastly, there was blood on the curtain of my room, the faucet was broken in the bathtub and took me 10 minutes to figure out how to fix it enough to have a shower. The whole second floor smells like weed and my room had a faint lingering odor of smoke. The bed left my neck sore and I woke up with a headache in the morning before my course. I heard the door slam as hard as can possibly be at 3:30am. I am only giving this hotel a 2 star review because I didn't pay for my room.
Room was quiet and very comfortable. It could use some fresh paint. The breakfast was convenient and ready every morning. The key cards kept malfunctioning but the staff were quick to reset it. Overall good experience.
When we arrived the hotel reaked of marijuana. We stayed on the second floor, directly above the check in desk. The carpeted halls soaked in the ouder of marijuana. Sound proofing was terrible. I could hear people clear as day in multiple rooms talking in normal conversation. The security lock latch had been purposly snaped off by a previos guest in an attempt to make the room less safe. The phone cord was pulled out of the wall and a tangled mess of cords left on the ground. I took pictures of it. The breakfast was ok. If you need somthing to fill you up they had hot coffee, juice, toast, sausage and scrambled egg, bannanas, yogurt, and a waffle bar. I was there for 2 days and the breakfast was fine with me. Being a franchised hotel my expectations of the building quality were higher. The staff were doing the best they could I have no problems with that. The hotel constuction quality is poor and due for renovations and improvments. Spend the money and rebuild this hotel and I would stay there again.
This is an older hotel but well - run. The front desk people were friendly and helpful. The clerk gave me an upstairs room (without asking) and a discount (without asking). Clean and quiet. Seems like they pay attention to security. This place does NOT have a glossy shine but was good value for the money and central to the area.
Picked this hotel to attend a funeral and thought the price and reviews looked pretty good online. So booked it for 4 nights. It was the good the bad and the ugly! The GOOD was that the staff, the complimentary breakfast, pool area, Exercise room and the beds overall all were really great. The BAD was the room was in need of painting and repair. Walls gouged, bath faucet broken and ceiling peeling in bathroom. The UGLY was a red stain in the carpet that was either ketchup, blood or whatever... we covered it with a towel! As we were only going to be in the room to sleep we decided to stay and not go through hassle of moving and as hotel was busy and probably no other rooms. They really shouldn't put people in rooms in need of major repair... So aside from the room (lol) quite a nice place!
Checked in early as wanted to get changed for a funeral, my room was not yet ready but the check in person found me another room right away, impressive service. Breakfast room was clean and bright, food was on the better side for a BW. Older establishment but well maintained. Would stay again if in Maple Ridge. Not many restaurants in the area but a decent "Home style" one across the street.
All the things I look for in a home away from home, are here. Fast WiFi; excellent TV, TV reception, channel selection, remote control - all perfect; Keureg Coffee machine in room; very comfortable king bed, really clean sheets, NO insects; soundproof room; and the BEST common area Spa swirl-pool I think I've ever used and I'm 71 years old and have used literally dozens of spas all around the world; as if that weren't enough... a generous complete hot breakfast. I hope I get to return here some day as this place sets the standard.
Great place to stay. Very good service. Close to all amenities. Home restaurant across the street from the hotel was awesome. Highly recommend staying there when in Maple Ridge. Walmart down the street. Staff was courteous and accommodating. There could be a better selection at breakfast and change it up instead of the same thing everyday.
Not up to Regular BW Standards. Small room for 4 adults when told it would suit our needs. Mould in bathroom on ceiling and around tub. Super small bathroom and uncomfortable beds. Very disappointed !!
Room in disrepair, shower tap not working properly, carpet needs to be steam cleaned, painting needs to be done, security compromised (window at ground level was not secure and possible threat from an intruder), repair of some baseboards, heating element very noisy. Also I did not agree to a speedy checkout by receiving my statement under my door but that is what happened. Breakfast left much to be desired.
Excellent Service, Clean Room, Very Good Breakfast, Ideal location to visit daughter in Pitt Meadows, Canada. Every time my wife and I visit our daughter in Canada, we stay at this Best Western and plan to continue to do so in the future.
Was a fine option for Maple Ridge for the price, room was comfortable and breakfast decent. Was a convenient location for us. Parking was at times hard, small lot that fills up fast at night. Only other thing was the non smoking room we were in had a very strong smoke smell.
Very quiet and comfortable continental breakfast was great nice selection very pleasant staff. Nice decorum. I slept like a baby beds were just right.i woild recomend this hitel to friends and i will stay there again
Great staff, friendly and helpful. Breakfast includes hot protein items and yogurt selection with option to make a waffle. Pretty small space for lots of people. Rooms are dated but comfortable with coffee maker in the room. Wifi was good. Again, staff are the best!!!!!
Disappointment at the best western. Too bad that this hotel is the only one in the area. I am hoping that a big chain comes in. This place was sub par and a nightmare to stay in. The Smell of the room and the noise was the worst. My room was close $200 for a single room.
We have lived in Maple Ridge for many, many years so never stayed in a motel here. But having moved away, we needed a motel for an overnight stay and were pleasantly surprised to stay in this Best Western. The rooms were clean and quiet plus the breakfast was very good.
Room was dirty, my kids found Cheerios and skittles under the chair and bed. Microwave was unusable. No room at breakfast to eat. Sink was clogged and no one came to fix it. The hallways were full of broken lights and the room smelled like smoke The people were nice though.
My Husband and I along with our Daughter, Son In Law and their four boys (ranging in age from 5 months to 7 years) just spent 3 nights at the Best Western Maple Ridge. It is an annual trip. We had two rooms with 2 adults and 2 children in each. We have always trusted in the quality that Best Western Hotels usually provide. Not so with this location. Some of the issues we had were resolved, however, the service offered should be provided and not up to the guest to have to call them on it. At check-in we were charged a higher rate than the booking rate, rooms were not ready more than an hour after check-in time, inadequate number of towels in each room, key cards that had to be recharged more than once , no microwave in one room, carpets in room and hallways not well vacuumed, air conditioning worked sometimes, many broken lampshades in hallways, clogged bathroom sink reported the first night but never addressed, spiders on pillow, one toaster and one waffle maker at breakfast bar meaning long lineups, inadequate seating and unable to even get in for breakfast one morning. None of the main issues reflected a change in our final bill. We shall be looking elsewhere for accommodation next year!!
Wow, what a disappointment! Never assume a quality name means a quality hotel. Our non smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke, there were electrical issues, and the freezer (I think that's what it was) smelled awful. The bed was so uncomfortable! We both woke up sore and stiff to the sound of chambermaids conversing in the hallway bright and early. Not a good stay.
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. I'm giving it a low rating due to the fact the room we had needed some TL? Kudos to the housekeeping staff for keeping the hotel clean. Not sure why we ended up in a room for a disabled person. I had booked our room almost a year in advance. Toilet seat was loose, so moved every time you used the toilet. Shower was a hand held sprayer that you couldn't adjust to spray out towards you. Sink was out in the sleeping area. Stay included continental breakfast and it was decent. Ceiling stucco has areas that are falling down. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had a different room. Hotel appears to be older and have tried doing updates just needs some touch ups.
Summer, I guess they don't care to sweep around pool deck or use filter system in high volume summer times. I don't like hair from other people wrapping around my body when I swim! Eww! The staff was welcoming but our hotel door didn't close without pushing it manually.
Staff at check in did not know what was doing. Checked In late and told a cot would not even fit. When I had booked months ago and told that a cot is fine. Bed bugs!!!! Stay away. Would never stay there or recommend. Very noisy.
Nice room ,but there are some items that need attention. Window( ground floor suite)has a broken lock. Hotels remedy was a short stick so window cant open wide. Good thing as no bug screen. Air conditioner wont work. Front desk came to check these concerns, but could not make a room change as they were full. Breakfast was good, although a 2nd waffle machine would shorten the wait time.
A nice clean property. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms are very spacious but the bathrooms could use an update and are TINY. Decent value for the money, but overall it would be nice to see this property get an update.
This hotel surprised me with how run down it is, especially under the BW banner, which has been quite reliable over the years. Our room had a peeling ceiling, curtains that were unconnected to the pulls, and very noisy AC. We asked for a handicapped room, and were given a room with grab bars in the tub but no seat and not enough room for my husband to turn in the bathroom - he had to wheel in and then back out. We asked for a bath seat so he could transfer into the tub and then use the hand held shower but they did not have one. That is not, in my view, an accessible room. The pool was ridiculously small and the hot tub jets were not working. Staff were indifferent at best. We asked for recommendations for nearby attractions/dining and were met with confused looks. Stay away. There must be something better in the area for that price.
We were visiting friends and found this hotel just a short distance from Pit meadows in Vancouver.... not a lot of hotels in the area, we were so happy to find this place on Canada Day long weekend. It's an older hotel but is is very clean and kept very well. It's very busy place, pool etc, continental breakfast, excellent service and adequate parking. Shopping and restaurants are a ways away, but not that bad.
Ive stayed in many hotels mostly for business and always feel like i was treated very well. Even though it was not me but my employer paying the bill. I decided to try priceline for a discount on the room rate and i was pleased to find out the cost was nearly half my original quoted price. This dicount site doesnot give details on the room when ordering only that it will accommodate 2 adults. Fair enough. I showed up with my self my wife and 3 yr child and i was given 2 double beds. When i asked for a possible room upgrade. I was promptly told i did not pay for such a room. It was going to be 10/night to upgrade our room to a suite that would be comfortable for us all. When i was checking out another patron called the front counter and asked for a late checkout. They were informed that this would cost 20$. Now in all the hotels ive ever stayed at i have never been charged any extra for simple upgrades and most certainly not for a 2 hour late checkout. To this i must say the rooms were clean comfortable and everything youd expect from a best western facility but i believe their practices and policys at this site make you feel as though youre second class far from the experiences ive had at other facilities. Hope this helps
When driving into this hotel my wife and I felt a little un-comfortable looking at the windows and noticing wood blocks in each one indicating possible past break-in problems and several undesirables lurking around the premises. However, we felt we should not judge it and have a look at a room as it was the end of the day and we were tired. The first room we looked at had an major smell so we asked to see another, this one was better so we took it. Even though this is a non-smoking hotel we noticed pot & cigarette smoke in the halls. The room was below average and it definitely needed a new bed. In the morning it was suppose to be a breakfast area and some simple hot food as well as cold. However, entering the breakfast room we noticed many un-desirable people eating and hanging around in this room and no hotel guests. The breakfast food was all gone for the most part and this was only 20 minutes after it opened. I over heard the front counter clerk saying that "they" eat everything like a buffet and did not attempt to bring new food out. The people in this room were not clean and did not make you feel comfortable. We left without any food! I never complain about things and usually just go with the flow, but I felt I owe this message to future guests so they don't experience what we did. (Raymond)
After reading the reviews, we had some concerns. I took note to ask questions and state our specific needs while making our reservations, ensuring we'd have a pleasant stay. Everything turned out great. We were very happy with our accommodations. Lina was the weekend staff member that welcomed us. She was WONDERFUL! She answered all of our questions, and took us on a tour of the breakfast room (I recently was diagnosed with multiple food allergies, which basically eliminates all traditional breakfast foods) so that I could ensure there'd be something I could eat. We had no issues with housekeeping, as mentioned in other reviews of this motel. They weren't the best, but they did come in every day and straighten up the bed and bathroom. Not once did they disturb us, as long as the 'do not disturb' sign was on the door handle. (Note to calm62 "Housekeeping is a problem" review ... our sign said 'do not disturb' on BOTH sides. Is it possible that, even though you turned the sign, you were still indicating you did not want housekeeping service?) We had no issues with leaky toilets, broken light fixtures, or doors that wouldn't lock. We booked a comfortable King room on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot. It was usually quiet -- just the occasional noise from kids entering the next room, or the large group of Chinese visitors gathering for breakfast at 6:15 one morning. I brought my own pillow, thanks to a 'room hint' from another reviewer. We slept great! The bed was comfortable and spacious. My only complaint has to do with getting out of the parking lot. It is very difficult to turn left onto Lougheed during busy traffic periods. Although there is a center lane to turn into, it is limited to one car-length. It is best to turn right to get out of the motel, then do a U-turn if you want to go west on Lougheed.
Exactly what you'd expect of a medium priced best western. Average. Just another hotel room. Clean, quiet and affordable. Not anything more. Your typical continental breakfast. Internet slow and always something little wrong. Light fixture broken and bathroom door wouldn't close fully to lock.
Great room, The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet & the staff were very friendly. The contenental Breakfast that was included was good too.Tasty hot Coffee, Muffins were tasting & the fruit was fresh! The rest looked good too, we were in a hurry so we didn't have time to sample all the offerings. I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay, good value & great service.
We stayed here for 14 nights while visiting family. Housekeeping is poor at this hotel and we will avoid Best Western brand in future. Our room was not cleaned on two days. We mentioned to management on both occasions and although they brought us extra towels they neither apologized nor seemed to care. They also ignore the do not disturb card. We had the do not disturb card displayed and were woken up at 8:00 a.m. by housekeeping opening our door and calling in. We have never experienced the do not disturb card being ignored at any other hotel. We asked them to come back later. We went out at about 10:30 a.m. and turned the card over to please clean room. We returned that evening and our room had not been cleaned. Another morning, housekeeping was vacuuming oustside our door at 8:00 a.m. We are not late sleepers but expect to have some privacy and ability to start our day at our leisure when on vacation. Overall, this made for a bad experience and we would not return.
Toilet did not work, manager asked me to fix it! Breakfast wash very poor quality, and made my wife sick. Toilet was never fixed. Reservation was wrong at check in. Staff didn't care a hoot about our needs. For $159 Canadian I was appalled. Avoid!!!
For being on a busy highway & completely full, I was not expecting it to be so quiet. Clean room, comfy bed..but pillows are a bit hard. Good selection for continental breakfast...all in all, better than I expected..I will stay again!
Did not care for the staff, nor did I trust them. I booked off of booking dot com and had a confirmed reservation for the room type I requested. When I checked in they said that I had a room with one bed and a pull out, I pulled up my reservation and said NO and showed them my reservation that confirmed I had booked a room with two queen beds, which then suddenly was available! ?? The toilet was gurgling so bad in the room we were assigned, and I mean loud and bad, that maintenance was called to fix it, After an hour the toilet went back to the same issues so I jury rigged it to flush and shut off the water supply and be quieter. Not a very clean hotel. Just really unpolished and a sense of dirtiness about it. If you exit the lobby at a certain time to go out - and I think it was either 10 or 11 pm, you cannot get back in without beeping for staff to "buzzer" you in. I had gone out to my car to retrieve an item and after I beeped to get in had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone responded, and that was incredibly frustrating to me, and it was after several beeping attempts. Just did not care for this place the first go round, the second go round confirmed I did not want to stay there again. I would highly recommend the Econolodge across the street. Very personable, more affordable and cleaner, despite somewhat of a worn exterior appearance. The rooms there are quite nice and the staff fabulous and friendly. There is also the Ramada in Pitt Meadows which is quite lovely, though a little more expensive depending upon the dates and time of your stay.
Because we had a good visit last time (and because we again attended a performance at the nearby ACT) we came back to stay here. The only detractor I can mention is the one-size-fits-all pillows they use. They are too hard and force you to crane your neck for an uncomfortable sleeping position. It would be nice to have the choice of a skinnier/softer pillow. Otherwise a good value accommodation.
I loved it to stay here. Everything was super clean and I really enjoyed the heated pool and whirpool. After my busy day it was nice to relax in the spa. Since my arrival, the teception was very friendly and helpful. I definetely recommend this hotel!
Stayed here last week when we had snow fall warning. I found the hotel very clean, staff super helpful, a great location. Only improvement could be .. would have helped if some snow removal was done in the driveway and parking area...
Old rooms that have been poorly updated. Ground floor rooms with "sticks" for security on the windows, I can take care of myself, but with a fairly bad neighbourhood down the street I wouldn't want my Mother or Daughter staying there. The smallest bathroom by far in recent memory but at least you can't fall off the toilet! I slept in sweatpants...buff said.
Desperately in need of renovation. Checked in to a room with an open window on a rainy night. Staff was unable to help me find someplace local to eat dinner at 9 PM (there were several local options open). Furniture was dilapidated, sheets coarse, pillows flat. Shower barely operated.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean but not very sound proof. Great breakfast. All in all a decent hotel but you cannot hide it is a remodeled travel lodge.....the area is a little sketchy too. That said I would stay again. OK pool and fitness room.
Look. You are in Maple Ridge. This isn't the Ritz but neither is it Hotel 6. Comfortable rooms, nice staff... it's clean. I was there for three nights. I asked for a quiet, top floor room and I got exactly that. First two nights I wasn't even sure if there were other people in the hotel.
The hotel and room were clean and well maintained. We stayed three nights over the Thanksgiving weekend. Check in was efficient and quick. We were given water and granola bars on arrival, along with instructions on getting around. The coffee machine in the room along with other equipment was well maintained and worked well. The continental breakfast was consistent with other hotels. What made the breakfast enjoyable was Donna, the lady in charge of the buffet, she was very cheerful, kept he buffet well stocked and tables clean. We would stay at this hotel again.
After visiting Vancouver six years ago and staying in the uptown area which was ok. We decided this time to stay further out, a decision we didn't regret. Sure it might take you an hour to get downtown by car, but the Best Western at Maple Ridge offers you comfy quiet accommodation with a good continental breakfast thrown in pleasant and helpful staff free wifi clean rooms and a good night sleep. All the jet lagged weary traveller could ask for. The area is not far from a mall, around 10 mins drive, all in all a place we would definitely stay again without hesitation.
Front desk was very helpful. Enough parking space. We reached late, the shops were closed but reception got us a fresh pizza. They also attended to other small requirements quite promptly. Hot tub and pool were great. The breakfast was good and the lady who supervises very helpful. Had a great stay.
From the clean, well equipped room to the pool with lots of towels , the friendly staff and great continental breakfast, my only choice for a stay in Maple Ridge, other than staying with family. I Do however think its dumb that you have to leave a minimum of 200 characters to leave a review, after being asked to take a survey?? Why??
Pleasant restful accommodation for a short stay. Comfortable beds, Good breakfast options.. Close to several restaurants. Staff were pleasant and responsive when approached. Decor is a little dull and some areas of wall had patches of repair work still requiring paint.
My wife and I stayed here in room 214 on the night of August 20 /2016 and l woke up with two pairs of bites on my arm. The next morning we as well noticed what looked like blood stains and some other dark spots on two of the pillow cases. The stained side of the pillows were of course turned down so as not to be noticed. Very, very poor. It is now three days later and the bites are still swollen and itchy and l am trying to determine what they are from. I showed the marks to the front desk attendant when we checked out and he just said they will look into it. On the good side even though we did come in late in the night with no reservation and initially the lady at the front desk said that they we full but were trying to contact some no shows. I left my number with her and she called me back to let me know that a room did become available for us which we appreciated.
Large rooms, clean and tidy, easily located I. Highway and walking distance to restaurants and shops. Cleaning staff need to learn English. No movies channels but movie channels are listed in room directory.
Room was clean, breakfast okay, but didn't like the paint smell in the room nor the broken shower plate on the wall, or the fact that the room wasn't cleaned from one day to the next. Rooms are also in desperate need of upgrading. Staff on the other was very friendly ... no complaints there.
Our family of 3 pre-booked the hotel online as we knew we would be arriving quite late. We received a confirmation of our booking and I assumed all would be fine when we arrived. The front desk clerk told me that our reservation had been cancelled because he had some trouble with our credit card. We did not receive a courtesy phone call or email telling us our reservation had been cancelled but fortunately there was still a room available. Online we had booked 2 queen beds but were told that they do not even have queen beds so we were given 2 double beds. We didn't complain though as we were relieved we at least had a place to sleep at 11:30 pm. Breakfast was equally disappointing. They were out of several items including sausage, eggs and bagels! None of the several people waiting could not find a breakfast attendant so I let front desk know. After about 15 minutes, the food was replenished. For being a full hotel, I would have expected them to be on the food situation. We were thoroughly disappointed for the price we paid!
Disappointing stay at the hotel - the air conditioning broke sometime during the second day of my stay. The front desk was unwilling to remedy the situation. At midnight, when I tried to check out - they were unwilling to find me another hotel or to assist in any reasonable manner. Finally moved me to another room that had a very loud fan. One last complaint - why can't these places supply reasonable utensils and plates at breakfast - the plastic forks and knives are a joke and the waste is horrendous.
I had come to the Maple Best Western for a wedding with my family and was disappointed in the room. The beds were comfy and breakfast good, but the room smelled of stale smoke, the shower corners were thick with mold, a switch for the bedside lamp was missing and the clock was not set so it was left to blink away. I was also supposed to get a kitchenette and I brought it up with the family I was sharing the room with but we were all very tired from a 4 hour drive and decided that for one night we would make do with it. I hope those things can be fixed so a future guest doesn't have these problems!
Yup bed bugs. My family stayed at this hotel in June 2016. We picked it because it was close to the hospital. The hotel staff was very friendly. My son enjoyed the pool. We did not however enjoy the bed bugs. Complaints to the Best Western call center could not get the hotel manager to respond to our report of bed bugs - despite the company requesting them to do so 4 times. If you like bed bugs, this is the place for you.
Dissapointed that windows had no screens to them. Just wooden sticks in them. Felt this was an extreme safety issue with kids in the room. Also elevator was broken during our stay so we had to take the stairs. I normally prefer the stairs, but not caring up 6 bags and suitcases. I also noticed the elderly struggling to get up and down the stairs.
The hotel is a bit old and in need of a remodel. And if you are the owner reading this, a remodel does not mean new paint on the walls. The beds were comfortable and the staff friendly. When we checked in our rooms were not ready but they were very quick to accommodate. Overall it was a nice stay but a bit on the expensive side for the accommodations provided. We most likely wouldn't stay there again unless a remodel happened
Overall we had a great stay. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. It could use a little maintenance but overall that did not affect our stay There was lots of food for the breakfasts each mornin. The rooms and hallways were quiet at night.
Warm friendly welcoming staff. Very clean comfortable room. Adequate breakfast selection in bright sunny room. Unfortunate accounting mishap: They forgot to reverse the pre-authorization charge on my credit card after I paid with debit at checkout, and then I discovered they charged my credit card for the full amount of the room and tax AND DIDN'T reverse the pre-authorization charge. Extremely frustrating getting them to fix it all. Took 11 days. All without an apology. Not impressed with this Best Western on account of this accounting mishap.
Was only here for the one night. Room is ok. Clean & simple. Breakfast was included & really good. Homemade donuts were delish ;) Would I stay here again? Sure for one or two nights. There is a swimming pool & sauna but we didn't have the time to use them. Front of house staff were nice & polite.
Excellent service, rooms are clean although a bit outdated. Lots of amenities in area. We were with a large family group attending a wedding in the area. They grouped our rooms close together which was great.
We spent a couple of nights here while visiting family. I was a little disturbed to find kleenex in the pool when I took my grandbabies for a swim. I checked each morning to see if it had been cleared up. It was still there when I was leaving. I realize it was a busy long weekend with a ball team staying there but I think this is something that should be checked each day! Our room was not cleaned at all during our stay and I had to go ask for new towels. Not what we expect from Best Western.
Decent hotel and an even better value when you consider the generous and pretty decent breakfast that is included with the price. Room had been renovated. Nice tile work in the bathroom. TV reception came and went - lots of snow on the TV. Not clear how that would happen with Satellite or Cable TV but it was watchable most of the time. No power outlet near the bed and the front desk didn't have an extension cord handy when we called so we ended up pulling a lamp down onto the floor (it had a power outlet embedded) from the other side of the room to get my CPAP closer to the bed. It worked fine but was a little awkward. The place was clean and quiet. We slept well.
hotel was good for the price. I slipped and fell in shower bc bath tub was slippery. Staff were excellent. very quiet at night. shower sounds from other rooms were noisy. would have liked more TV channels.
Although in a somewhat seedy area of town, the accomodation was quite good. The bathroom area is getting a little "tired" but it was adequate. Rest of hotel was in fine shape. For a continental breakfast it far exceeded our expectations. Everyone was friendly and pool area good (although pool seemed rather chilly). Breakfast lady on Monday was exceptionally good and had a great personality.
I booked this hotel on the wednesday, for a thursday to saturday stay. I had a course at the local JIBC for a marine fire fighting refresher. I wasn't expecting too much, but while the hotel was a bit dated, it was well kept and run. The breakfast was good, room was well kept, and front desk was really helpful the whole time I stayed. I would consider this hotel again
The interior looks older and a little tired, but the service was really quite good (especially the breakfast lady cheered me up in the early morning). I also enjoyed the pool and hot sauna. Unfortunately, the parking lot was full one of the nights I stayed there, but they were flexible in letting me park in a non-designated parkingspot on the property.
Nice location only if we get to stay here!!!!!! . Hotel mixed up our reservation for a large group and we stayed in a different best western, that hotel was 45 min away from our original location! We had to travel every day to Maple Ridge to a kayaking race early morning because of this mistake!
bring a swimsuit, affordable, free breakfast and clean rooms and service. More than I expected. make sure to check out the leghorn horse riding around the corner !!! I would definitely stay here again
This is a standard Best Western Hotel. The room was clean, the bed adequate. There were pitifully few channels available on the TV. Good thing we spent very little time in the room. The air conditioning kept the room at a nice temperature without making much noise. The included in the price of you room breakfast is okay with pre-made egg patties, sausage bites, make your own waffles, cereal, pastries, juice, coffee and tea. Not bad but nothing to cheer about. There is a full service Restaurant right across Lougheed highway, they have a full menu breakfast, lunch and supper. Things got a little exciting at 5 am Sunday morning when the fire alarm went off. There was a bit of confusion with no one taking charge, the fire department came after about 15 minutes. Eventually the all clear was given and we went back inside. We asked for and received a discount for the inconvenience. We will have to go to Maple Ridge several times in the coming months and will probably stay at this hotel again. It is a convenient location, the rooms clean and the price is okay.
We chose Maple Ridge Best Western because it was close to many things do,easy to get out to a park, easy to get into Vancouver to go to the ocean lots of places to go to eat very nice location this hotel was good quality for the price we paid would stay here again.
Stayed there for a night. From the moment we arrived, the front desk lady was rude. Gave us dirty looks constantly. Later on in the night she asked unnecessary and invasive questions. TV was not working. Shower didn't run water AT ALL! He tv isnt a huge deal, but not having a working shower/bath tub was disappointing. Ceiling was cracked. I ended up leaving just after midnight. Not interested in going back.
Quiet, clean, friendly. Close to restaurants. Continental breakfast great. Would recommend anytime and would gladly stay again. Easy to locate on main thoroughfare. easy access to Vancouver, Langley and upper Fraser Valley.
Stayed in room 201. The kitchenette was not worth it. The room had a funny smell. Luckily the sheets were clean, and the location is right where we needed it. Bed's were comfortable but the pillows are huge. Too big for my liking.
Had a i night stay at this hotel in February 2016. Very attractive hotel and a great location in Maple Ridge, BC. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The only downside was a very minor one. The bathroom was split into two, Tub and toilet area was small. Definitely would stay at this location again
The hotel is neat and clean. Breakfast was great. Sauna is out of order. Pool and hot tub are nice. Good value for money. 40 min from Vancouver. Normal Vancouver weather - over cast. 4 degrease and why does Trip advisor want 200 characters to explain that this hotel is great?
This place had everything you would expect from your hotel, then their staff brings it to another level. If I am going through this area again I will be staying here. I appreciate the service and courtesy from the staff.
The room was clean, very quiet from hallway noise, except for the guests with dogs. Several times I was awoken early by several guests' dogs barking in their rooms and hallways. Not just one incident or guest. The desk clerk went and spoke to the pet owners. I was also bothered by the front desk checking someone in without ID, luggage or a reservation, and taking cash deposit in lieu of a credit card or ID. This was only a few days after a homicide across the street. The staff were very nice, and the breakfast room was busy but well stocked with a variety of food, including fruit and juice. Halls and the parking lot were very clean, as was the room. I really liked that the room had a microwave and mini-fridge. TV had to be turned on by hand before being able to use the remote each time.
My mother is in a retirement home in Maple Ridge and whenever I go to see her I am happy to stay at the Best Western It accommodates my needs perfectly. Also, when my wife comes we bring our 2 dogs and they are welcomed here too which makes our stay a pleasant one.
My girlfriend and I spent 9 nights at this hotel so far this year and we plan to return. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast was impressive in terms of the quality and options. The employees were always friendly and helpful. A fantastic experience.
Everything was great during this hotel stay. Staff are very friendly and the service was impeccable!! The bed was so very comfortable and the room very clean. Breakfast was tasty and the service excellent! What more can I stay, but thanks! We will stay there again in the future! Merry Christmas to the staff at Best Western Maple Ridge.
Would stay again !!! Staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was ready for early check in.Rooms clean and all required ammenities on site. Recommend. Location was perfect for my reason for travel. Will be back.
Friendly staff, but the maintenance condition of the hotel was questionable (peeling ceiling in the bathroom, plumbing fixtures falling off wall...). Mostly clean and nice bed. Hallways could have used some attention.
very clean, rooms have nice decor.Updated rooms. well lit parking.Pleasant staff.Clean lobby, elevator. Easy access from highway, good signage, easy to find. Will be using this hotel in future for sure.Location is good as it is centered in center of all the major routes to Surrey, Vancouver and Highway 1
The Best Western Maple Ridge is a typical "sixties-style" motor hotel. In an area that is relatively deficient in hotel accommodation, it's a good bet if you have business in the area. It has the normal amenities, free parking, WiFi, indoor pool, whirlpool spa, small fitness room, and complimentary breakfast. The room was relatively small and I found the toilet/shower room cramped. My main concern was that I found the room very dark. There was a single easy chair in a small alcove with no light, so the options for reading were lying on the bed or sitting at the desk chair. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was served daily. Choice was more limited than many breakfasts at equivalent hotels, and the hot choice of scrambled eggs and sausage pieces remained the same from day to day, although waffles were also available. The staff was friendly and helpful, to the extent of providing some relief in the rate when I commented that the room had a slight souvenir odor from a previous elicit smoker. The room rate was good and I would assess the hotel as, overall, good value.
In order to post I had to give it a 1 but it's really a -10. Traveling with my family (a large group of us) for a sudden death in the family this is hard enough but the inconceivable service we received made our situation almost unbearable. Upon check in we asked if the cots we had requested were already in the room (we have 3 children) and the room only had 1 bed and a pullout, at that point without batting an eye the employee said "not happening" my husband questioned this and was told they don't alow 2 cots in any of the rooms, this was a room with a attached living area with more then enough space the employee instead of making any other arrangements then decided they were to busy to deal with that asking if we wanted it or not. After a great deal of time and having to show our booking confirmation 2 cots were given but not delivered just told if we scratched the walls we would be charged for it. Having to leave right away we set them in the room to go and be with our family, when we returned later we set up the beds and didn't have blankets for them I went to the desk and the same lady was there I asked if we could have a few extra blankets for the kids beds I was told no we have to save them for other guest incase they need them , I explained my kids need blankets to sleep she slammed her phone down and said to follow her we went to the storage room at it was wall to wall blankets but I was told I could Only have 1 even though we have three kids to cover. I had to argue to get 3 blankets. House keeping came while we were gone the next day all the towels were taken even the ones that were hung but no towels were replaced not a big deal the house keeping cart sat in the hall all night so I took what we needed. At check out I asked for a copy of my room charges and was told I had to pay first. Again another argument with the same employees when a bill was finally given (before payment) there was $46 in extra charges (room tax for an extra night and gst) when I questioned it the employee tried to tell me that the charges were all correct I then asked for the math to be done on a calculator and surprise over charged. I then asked for a copy of all of it that's when the employee told me no it was for hotel use only I was very upset at this point (40 mins to check out) and demanded a copy it was ripped in half and put in the counter in front of me I was being laughed at by then by the employee I reached for it they grabbed my hand and the bill throwing it in the garbage behind the desk I took everything that was still on the counter going to the parking lot and calling my credit card company immediately, surprise pre authorization was not reversed. Gott that fixed with my card company and called head office guess what not the first complaint. Do yourself a favor your better off sleeping in your car
The problem started as soon as I walked in the door. I had reserved a king size room for a week, but when I got there, there were only two queen size rooms. Apparently, they had booked me into a room that was used for storage. Instead of offering me a discount, they 'graciously' didn't charge me extra. The bathtub didn't drain properly as it is sloped the wrong way, so dirty water pools in the one end. The door didn't close properly to the room. The breakfast was the same every day and only had two hot items...crumbly scrambled eggs and cut up breakfast sausages. There was no wired internet, only sketchy wireless. When I was checking out, I had to wait a couple of minutes for the girl on duty to finish her cigarette outside. I was checked in Sunday and was staying until Friday. I received a strange phone call from the front desk on my cell phone while I was at work asking me about my check-out on the Tuesday. I explained I was still staying until Friday and she apologized for the mix-up. When I got home however, I noticed that they had charged my credit cards for two nights on the Tuesday. Then, on Friday when I checked out, they charged my credit card for the whole week again. When I called to see what happened, I was told I would have to call back the next day when the manager was there...you would think that someone could have taken my number and called me back. After I called back, someone finally got back to me and they are going to refund the money on my card and apparently bill the person whose room I paid for. I was expecting maybe an offer of a discount on a future stay or something, but I barely got an apology. The only reason I gave a two is there was a pleasant woman on the evening shift that gave me directions and was nice to me, there was an exercise room that had cable, and it was a one minute walk from my destination.
Satisfactory stay. The room was clean, comfortable and good sleeping conditions. Had internet as well. Breakfast has improved since our last stay. They now have waffles and a wider selection of breakfast items. Very delicious!
Our room had 2 queens, as requested, but it was very small. My mother uses a walker and could not get around with it in the room. The sitting chair was put into a corner by the bathroom as there was no other place for it. Beds were really comfy. Bathroom small. Elevator is really small, and painted shiny black inside. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was good. A good price for what you get. We had to cross over a toll bridge to arrive at the hotel.
3 weeks before a trip with our canoe-kayak team I called to make a reservation for 10 rooms. I was told that we had a reservation. 5 days before our reservation I called to make sure one of the rooms was wheel chair accessible. i was told that they would make certain one of the rooms was. 2 days before our trip I called to tell them we needed 9 instead of 10 rooms. They told be we had no reservation. I told them they needed to find a solution. Their solution was to put us 30 minutes farther from our event at the best Western Chelsea, in smoking rooms, in rooms that did not have two beds as promised, with a desk clerk who continually insisted on interrupting me when I was explaining the situation to member of our group. They told me the Chelsea hotel is 15 minutes from their – not true, it is much farther. They told me there would be 2 beds in each room – not true. My initial reservation was for nonsmoking rooms – not honored. This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Never again Worst Western.
