Resumen de la reserva
Please don't stay at this hotel. It is super dirty. The carpet is filthy. The curtains are filthy. The bedding was old with wear and tear and some spots of I don't know what. The bed was hard as a rock and squeaked whenever you roll over. The air conditioning didn't work and it was so hot that it was difficult to sleep. The bathroom was small, didn't have a fan and the lighting was incredibly dim. The bathtub didn't have a plug so you couldn't relax in a bath after a long drive. The entire room was dingy and gave the overall feeling of being unkempt. I really didn't get much rest in this room. It was very uncomfortable and it was damp smelling which made my allergies go crazy. Ive stayed in way nicer hotels for cheaper. They charged over $200 a night and it wasn't worth that. Next time I will sleep in my car rather than stay at this place again. I give it negative 5 stars. Just horrible!!
This is a comfortable stay and down the road from Fredonia. It is connected to the Applebees parking lot, so something close by to eat after traveling. I wish breakfast had more options, but it is still a decent breakfast before getting on the road.
First, I was told only upon arrival that they did not have an elevator. The room was dirty. The bed should have been replaced years ago. Could not get a good nights sleep. This hotel needs an update, and staff trained in how to really clean a room.
Staff was good and building was clean, room overall clean but you could tell it's a little outdated. And the TV was broken in my room so with 2 kids that didn't help.
The bed was so hard I was sore when I got out of bed. The room is outdated and smells old and stale. The bed linens were scratchy. The room rate is ridiculously high for what they have to offer.
I am from Dunkirk but live several hours away now. My husband and I visit once or twice a year. We stay at The Best Western whenever possible. It is right off the Thruway but there is not a ton of street noise in the rooms and it is set back from the main road, so it feels somewhat secluded. The windows have big, heavy curtains, which also block out some noise and make the room dark for sleeping. The price is always reasonable and there are often various discounts available. Parking is free and plentiful, even for RVs and large vehicles and once we know our room location, we can usually park right outside it; making loading in and out a breeze. There a plenty of restaurants and store within walking distance if you're sick of driving when you get there and it's about a mile from the beach. Breakfast and high-speed internet are included and we take advantage of the coffee and other beverages available during your entire stay. My main priority for choosing this hotel originally was that it is the only one in the area with a year-round indoor pool and hot tub and I love to take a swim every morning. But now I just see it as an added bonus.
The hotel is very dated. The bathroom floors were not clean- you could see where the corners were covered in dirt. The stairwells were not clean. The room had an old, musty smell. The breakfast was not great- if you did not go when it opened at 6am, there was no yogurt. The orange juice ran out. Eggs were heated in plastic pouches. This was not a great experience.
Only issue was room had a very musty smell. Bearable for 1 night. Hotel is quite old and dated. King bed comfortable. Quiet but not facing highway. Breakfast good. Rooms clean.
The carpet in the room was filthy. The The room smelled - not sure what it was. The breakfast was not good, save for the coffee and yogurt! The saving grace was the nice, helpful young man at the front desk when we checked in.
I stay here every year when visiting family. We are always treated special and like family there. Just wish the breakfast had more choices. Everything we need is close by too. The pool is a nice calm down for the kids at night before bed.
Had a really good stay here, staff was super nice, and room was spotless. very comfortable bed and pillows i might ad. plenty of place close by( with in walking didtance) to grab a bite to eat, and grocery store across the street(walking distance)
This hotel location has gone way down hill over the last two years. I am from this area and need to stay there or the other hotels while visiting family and friends. I was there this past week for five nights and six days. It was the worst experience we've had there yet. We had to move rooms three times because one had a broken bed, one had a broken AC unit, one had a broken fridge and tv issues. They apparently give rooms to the homeless now so they occupy a lot of the hotel and the people that stayed there were LOUD, and banging on walls, jumping, screaming, fighting, etc. until 2:00 am every night. I will NEVER step foot here again. GROSS! Waste of my hard earned money.
Was traveling by motorcycle and needed a place for the night. Did not have reservations in advance. The staff was awesome and treated us thicker family. They let us park in a covered area up by the office for the night. They recommended a great local place to grab dinner and even had coffee ready for us when we were leaving at 500AM. The room was clean and everything worked as it should. I highly recommend this best western hotel. The staff is outstanding!
This place is so bad . It is so rundown and in bad shape I don't know how anyone would stay here. The person at the front desk was a nice guy, but the rest of it was just awful. How can they take money for this Dump?
Excellent place to rest after a long drive and hard field work day. One of us appreciated the pool. Night manager Crystal was particularly friendly to my companion and slipped a nice note under our door by morning. Will stay there on the next trip too.
Beds uncomfortable. Faucet in shower needs fixed. Dripped all day and night. Pool was heavily chlorinated. Overall served its purpose for what we needed to stay for but not a comfortable sleep. Front desk clerk could've been a bit more personable and pay attention to you being checked in not everything going on around.
Hotel is nice, staff is friendly and accommodating. Indoor pool available. Free breakfast in the morning and right next to an Applebee's. The rooms are a bit dated but they are clean and the beds are comfortable.
Due to a forced evacuation near silver creek, at the last moment and with a pet in tow Best Western was there. Hands down, there. Easy check in, All the staff in the Dunkirk NY Best Western were on point. The room was clean, and spacious. Internet worked without issues and there was breakfast every morning for us. Definitely a hotel to return too if ever I need one. Fantastic!
Jacuzzi drain wasn't working properly so water drained out. Door to outside was not closing right so we heard it slammed shut all night and early morning as people headed in and out that side door. Found some random hairs in bathroom on the floor (not mine)
This hotel could be much better with simple cleaning and maintenance checks. Receptionist first night was very helpful, others not so much. Rooms are older, but 1st room had broken shower handle and broken door so got stuck in room, 2nd room had no heat. Had reserved double queen room as I like to have bed choice; however, ended up in king room. Bathroom floor was sticky, carpet needed better vacuuming, mirror had hand prints. A little upkeep would have gone a long way. Breakfast was warmed up french toast, Jimmy Dean microwave sandwich, toast, cereal, juice. Food areas were full of crumbs and a simple wipe down would have been beneficial. Overall it was fine for what I needed for a couple of days; but not good for a longer stay. Also nice that got a 10% discount at Applebees by showing my key.
The hotel was comfortable, and the front desk was very helpful. Pleasant stay. Close to Fredonia University and easy access to area stores and the University. The 24 hour coffee, tea and juice bar wa a real plus.
The place apparently has a long string of bad reviews for filth and poor maintenance. The toilet overflowed when it was first flushed, and this was reported to the front desk. We were told that housekeeping would address this, but when we returned 12 hours later the room had not been serviced and toilet water, wet and dirty towels and fecal material were still on the floor. The front desk night person told us that no manager was available and nothing could be done until after the weekend; she offered to bring a plunger but did not do so. As of our departure the toilet had been overflowed with water and feces on the bathroom floor from Saturday morning until noon on Sunday. Needing a bathroom upon our return Saturday night, we went to the public restroom by the pool but that toilet was blocked and overflowed also. When contacted on Monday the manager refused to make any adjustment because the persistent overflow had not been recorded in their log and because "you chose to stay there".
No USB ports, no elevator, very outdated and not worth the price per night! What I booked on the app was not the room we were given. Luckily the front desk staff was able to change our room to what we booked. The king suite is all jammed to one side so much you run into the ac/heat that won't stay on when getting in and out of bed. I have stayed in far better accommodations in larger cities for 1/2 the price and much better quality of hotel.
It's a decent Best Western. The front desk staff was lovely. They had coffee, hot chocolate, tea, cookies, and lemon water available all day. In the morning they offer a free continental type breakfast. There is a small indoor pool and hot tub right off the lobby. Our room was on the first floor with two double beds and a mini fridge. The hotel is maybe a little dated, but clean and comfortable. It's tucked away off the street behind an Applebees, but close to I-90 and several fast food places and shopping.
This was a very nice hotel and the staff was very friendly!! My only issue was the jacuzzi was not working and that was the main reason I chose this hotel. I wish we would have been contacted prior so that we could have had the option to choose another hotel with a working jacuzzi.
The hotel was hard to find even with gps. The rooms were clean but very old and smelled of cigarette smoke. I'd say nothing has been updated for 20+ years. We wouldn't have stayed if we hadn't been exhausted from traveling. Would not stay again because of the cigarette smell.
For the price, ($242 plus tax), I would expect better quality. Frayed carpet, room smelled like smoke (although a sign in the lobby says it's a smoke free hotel), tired and grungy. We are traveling with our dog, and appreciate that this hotel allows dogs, but for that price, should have been better.
Hidden - Will say after a long day of wine tasting we got a good laugh finding the hidden route behind the Applebees! :D We liked the flow of the shower head and that it was a good HOT shower. Bed was a bit worn and still, and bedding was dated. The phone in the room was SUPER dated and old, but AC worked well, no funky smells. Breakfast was underwhelming - Packaged breakfast sandwiches.. No allergy friendly options. But OK Dunkin and Tim Hortons moments away. Room fridge had drinks in it when we got in.. (Someone before us left I guess) and random change around the chair in the corner... (If no one is moving the chair to clean, remove them!) Didn't hear noises of people around us.
My biggest issue with this property is that it does not have an elevator. Not a big deal for most people but it is if you have mobility issues and there are no rooms available on the first floor. Other problems with our stay included a toilet that didn't flush, a thermostat that didn't work and the mattresses were lumpy. The continental breakfast was disappointing and breakfast area was freezing. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious.
All the Best Western properties I have stayed at have quality accomodations, amenities, breakfast, friendly & helpful staff and service. The pool and hot tub have always had 10pm or 11pm closing time which was a big plus when returning from a long day after dinner.
Three rooms overnight. Clean hotel. Nice staff. Hotel was fully booked so they were unable to repair our broken sink in one room. Stopper was stuck and didn't drain. Might be time to update the sheets as they were a little worn on one bed. But wud stay there again because it was a nice hotel.
I've stayed at this hotel on the few occasions I've traveled to Irving, NY. It's a nice place, well maintained and clean. Lot of amenities for the price (pool, hot tub and even in-room jacuzzies). Staff has aways been friendly and helpful. Fruits, juices and coffee are always available in the lobby. Currently a very limited breakfast, so I can't comment about pre-covid breakfast, but there was enough to get started in the morning. There are several restaurants within walking distance, so there are options.
To start with it was way overpriced at $179. The free breakfast was a joke. They had bananas, apples and cereal. That is it. The room was just ok with very old furniture. The sofa sagged badly. You could hear everything from the room next door, during the night I woke up and could hear them snoring from the room next door. The bathroom was extremely small. I would never stay here again.
This review concerns their cancellation policy. I did not stay at this hotel so cannot comment on the room or facility. To make a long story short, I made a reservation, had to cancel do to an illness and death in the family. I did change dates by one day, but canceled that reservation. They claim I had two reservations and booked with an outside or third party. Not true. They claim my reservation numbers were same with one ending in -01, the other-02. Also not true. I have two cancellation emails from them, directly from hotel. I sent them copies, but they are ignoring my correspondence at this point. They still claim booked thru 3rd party but can't tell me who or verify their position.
We stayed at this hotel while visiting our daughter, who is a student at SUNY Fredonia. There are limited options in this area, however we noticed that this hotel was the one most of the other families who had kids attending Fredonia recommended. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel and rooms were very neat and clean, breakfast was not exactly continental but but did the job, my only complaint about it was they only offered it until 9 am, but they did have coffee, tea, hot cocoa as well as juice available all day and quick snacks like yogurt granola bars and fruit that were complimentary. We really enjoyed the hot tub and pool.
The room we stayed in was absolutely disgustingly filthy and smelled like perfumed body odor. When we asked about the room, the person working the front desk was exceptionally short and rude with us, telling us to just turn on the AC. She almost didn't let my husband check us in because our last names are different, even though the booking was paid for under his credit card/name. This hotel was the worst hotel we've stayed at during our trip across the country and everything about it was a bad experience. Please try to stay somewhere else, but if you have pets I think this is the only option in the area.
We were here for the night. The outside was well kept. The lobby and our room was clean. We had a breakfast buffet available in the morning. We were happy to see it was not a bag breakfast to go. There is a nice pool and hot tub too.
I have never been disappointed in staying at any Best Western. They are always clean. This one has a pool. The water was clear. Another guest told me about the murky water in another hotel's pool. She too was glad to see how nice and clear the water was here at Dunkirk & Fredonia
This was a decent place to stay. Rooms were average size. I was on the first floor, so didn't use the elevator. The mattress was uncomfortable, very hard mattress, I wouldn't stay again for that reason alone.
woman at checkout was extremely friendly, courteous, and smiled. She deserves a raise for her professionalism and just for working with the other woman. the other woman at check in was unkind, frowned, rolled her eyes like she couldn't be bothered. I never checked in to a hotel where front staff shot a room key at me like i was at a poker table. She never smiled and responses were short and curt. The lobby looked to have been recently renovated..maybe they should pay attention to the rooms We ALWAYS travel with our own cleaning supplies. We had to clean 2x just for safety. toilet was not clean. mattress was like sleeping on a brick. Not recommended. Chances are slim that i will EVER stay at a Best Western again. Good location for taking kids back to college. Its not a DUMP...but..............
The hotel is showing it's age and needs some upgrades and work on it. Because animals are allowed, the rooms need to be cleaned a whole lot better afterward. Never know what allergies the next customer has. Dogfood was found on the floor and room was wiped done by ourselves and wipes were dirty from wiping inside drawers and outside, and the bathroom. broken items in the room. Drawers and hangers, plugs. Would be nice if real breakfast was brought back for price charged.
Fast easy check in and check out. Kudos to the Maintenance man came in to carry our bags upstairs since they could not be pulled up the stairs. Our rooms were clean. Beds comfy. Refrigerator moaned all night. Noises from I90 traffic heard all night long. Heard dogs barking most of night, which surprised us. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Grab and go breakfast first morning was only granola bar, fruit and yogurt choices. Second morning breakfast sandwiches were present along with oatmeal and the other above choices. We went out each morning to buy a breakfast. Overall, staff was very accommodating and very helpful and friendly. Pool very small could not utilize as a family of children and parents using pool, too full. Downsize no accommodations to those booked onto the second floor which had problems climbing the stairs and carrying luggage. A big problem this was not seen on the web site OR mentioned during the booking process. The price is outrageous for the lack of accommodations and the poor breakfast choices. I would consider a different location but before booking I would have to call to see if they have elevators for those handicapped travelers with me.
I've stayed in some bad motels before but this one is up there with the worst. We couldn't enter any part of the hotel without passing through fresh cigarette smoke, mostly from the motel staff that was just outside an entrance smoking. We noticed this multiple times at all three entrances that we used. The room was gross, it stunk of cigarette smoke even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. There was large quantities of dust visible on the carpet especially near the ended and corners. The end table in between the beds was entirely covered with what looked to be dried up soda that looked to be from a can that leaked all over and was just left. The mattresses were sunken in when you laid on the beds as if they were 10-20 years old. We would have left immediately had my son not had a mandatory online exam time for one of his masters classes. I wanted to drive on to Ohio when he was finished with his exam but he opted to try to get some sleep and leave at first light since it was storming out. It took an entire day after we left for me to get the cigarette stench out of my nose. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Staying twice on our return trip. Staff great, warm pool, hot tub, ample grass area for dogs, clean comfy rooms, right off expressway. I can't believe I'm not seeing higher reviews. You will not be disappointed. After staying at a real nightmare the night before, couldn't wait to get back.
Spent one night while visiting family. Check in was easy and quick. Was given an upgrade for Gold Status which was appreciated. Room was good size, but bathroom was so tiny you could hardly shut the door and turn around. Nice TV, room was clean, but bedding needs to be replaced. Mattress was very soft and sofa in room was pretty low and uncomfortable to sit on. Our stay was OK until 5:00 AM when two loud, drunk men tried to get into our room. We were in room 125 two doors away from the front desk. They finally figured out they were in the room next door right next to the office. After several minutes in the hallway of being very loud they got into their room and continued to keep laughing, yelling loudly and playing their TV until 6:00 AM. Our room also had a connecting door to their room which they tried to open, so the noise was even louder. Being right next to the office I can't believe this was not heard by the front desk person and dealt with it. Since we had been asleep when rudely awakened at 5:00 AM I did not feel like getting dressed to go out to the desk to complain. When checking out we mentioned the incident and she said "I'm sorry". This was totally unacceptable behavior in any hotel and should have been addressed when they came in since it was right next door to the front desk. Breakfast was ok considering covid times. Breakfast sandwiches to warm up in microwave, cereal, pastries, juice and coffee. The pool is right next to the breakfast area, so there was a very strong smell of chlorine in the lobby and eating area. Not too appetizing for eating. Price paid (143.00) for one night was way too much for this hotel. Location is close to restaurants and downtown, but really needs updating and desk clerks who are more aware of what is going on at 5:00 in the morning in the hallway next to their office and what type of people are coming into the hotel.
Room was very tiny. The beds were only full size beds. Rooms were not cleaned very well. Bathtub had hair and dust on it and room was not vacuumed around the bed. COVID breakfast options were yogurt in a "cold" lunch bag or oatmeal in a "hot" lunch bag. Could have offered an actual prepackaged breakfast sandwich to reheat in the microwave. The saving grace for the hotel was the extremely friendly and hospital front desk staff.
Having to make necessary travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, we chose to stay at this hotel because of Best Western's pledge that they are industry leader in cleaning standards, and because we had stayed here last year and been very impressed by the cleanliness and adherence to CDC guidelines for protecting ourselves and others during this pandemic. NEVER AGAIN. This year when we arrived in the late evening (about 10:30 pm EDT) after driving more than 15 hours we found the front entrance crowded with a group drinking beer and smoking with not a mask in sight. My daughter-in-law entered the hotel to check in and found the bar in the lobby also crowded with maskless people drinking and behaving in a rather rowdy manner, and the desk clerk was also NOT wearing a mask. We did stay there because it was so late and we were exhausted, but our room was a disappointment as the sink and fixtures in the bathroom were dirty, having obviously NOT been cleaned after the last customer. The carpet was also worn and did not look clean, and had a group of spots that looked like on it between the beds. Despite the signs on the door that masks were required inside, we saw several individuals in the hallway without masks. I spoke today with the manager, who asked why we didn't object that evening (night), and I explained that we did not want to walk around in the hotel where others were not taking precautions against COVID-19 (my daughter-in-law is an MD and has worked on COVID units this past year, which is a grueling and tragic experience). Although the manager and the staff with whom we spoke were pleasant, this is an experience not to be repeated. My advice to anyone traveling through this area is to look elsewhere for a hotel if you care about your health.
I was arriving in Dunkirk to take a certification test for my job. At check in front desk clerk was rude short and just unwilling. Informed I would be studying and all I got was well were pretty full. Because I used my room until noon check out I must say housekeepers were very polite and considerate and quiet. Was thankful for that. Clean rooms was a big plus.
Our stay was nothing exceptional but the room was clean and the staff was friendly. I agree with the mattresses could be more comfortable but we all survived and slept through the night. I noticed one reviewer left a comment about the absence of microwave in the room, however there is one in what is typically the breakfast area for usage. The grab and go breakfast was adequate- I have seen worse. If you truly need more food, there is a Tim Hortons and Dunkin' Doughnuts a very short drive away. I would stay here again.
This hotel was very Clean our room was perfectly located and comfortable. Very easy to get around and to Fredonia College. Staff was friendly and Polite. We did not use the pool and Hot tub but it looked very nice
Booked at this hotel for my daughters 3rd birthday with close family, so they were able to have fun in the pool. Upon arrival I was not greeted by the front desk clerk CINDY, and was immediately given attitude. When I tried to call and ask a question about the tv I was given a short snippy response to “press power” as if that weren't initially what I tried to do. I declined her “I'll just come down” because I wasn't able to fix the issue quick enough when on the phone with her. About 15mins later i decided to take my kids to the pool & waited for my other families arrival & when they came they were immediately told by CINDY that they were not allowed to swim without her confirming if they were guest or not. When I went to let her know they were my guest and my family for my daughters birthday she refused to listen and told me there was too many ppl I tried to explain they were not all staying and only a couple were she still gave me attitude. At one point she yelled at me and told me go to my room & my family ended up leaving..my daughter and me stayed in the room without her family there and her birthday was RUINED I felt uncomfortable the rest of the night because I was also told she would call the cops on me and I would be put out because of repeatedly asking to speak to a manager and her refusing. LITERALLY THE WORST PLACE I STAYED!
The staff was friendly but the hotel needs to replace the beds. The mattresses sagged so much we were unable to get any rest at all! FYI the rooms had no microwaves. I wouldn't recommend to someone who need quality rest on a hotel mattress. I'm not coming back here.
This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. Had an odor of stale BO. Bedside tables were greasy and every flat surface was covered in layers of dust. I went to Walmart, bought sanitizing wipes, cleaned every surface! Sheets were frayed, food and other people's hair below the headboard. Greasy bedside tables, lampshades askew. God knows what was stuck to the bathroom counter and someone's loose hair was stuck to the inside of the bathroom door. Fridge and clock both unplugged when we arrived. We were afraid to venture down to the hot tub or pool based on the condition of the room. "Breakfast" was a tiny bottle of water, a half inch square "cinnamon bun", and a granola bar. Our first clue should have been having to turn left at the Applebee's dumpster to get to the hotel. This place is gross... don't waste your money and/or take chances with your health. Only bright spot? The front desk lady was super nice. Not her fault the place is a dump.
When arriving at the hotel everything was great, clean enough and the reception was kind enough. As I got to my room I went to open the window, I routinely do this - especially now with Covid, only to discover there was a LOCK on the window. My husband and I thought it may have been just a safety lock for children so we tried to figure out how it worked and realized it was permanently affixed to the window. I approached the front desk asking how I could open the window and she blankly said you can't. When I asked why, she said because people fall out of the windows (we were on the 1st floor, the ground was less then 2 ft below). When I asked how could I get fresh air, I was told to step outside. Then when I raised my concern about fire safety, she seem dumbfounded and said I guess you would just have to break the window. Ah ok. The hallways were saturated with chlorine. Every room surrounding us was occupied. One room had a dog that barked incessantly. Next door to us were two men who were up most of the night, making it difficult for us to sleep. Then beginning at 4:45am someone's door began to bang closed several times for over 10 mins, until another guest had enough and screamed out for them to "stop slamming the **** door!" This was followed by another guest about an hour later who was coughing so intensely in the hallway I was worried they wouldn't recover. This spiked my fears of the lack of fresh air and the COVID concerns. Needless to say we were out the door shortly thereafter.
Stayed here for on night on a road trip. Best Western is one of our go to hotels. Clean and comfortable. Free breakfast impacted by Covid so there was only Grab and Go bags. Until that restriction is lifted, will probably opt for less expensive lodging.
Stayed 2 nights in a jacuzzi room and it was wonderful. The room was very clean, bathroom spacious, and staff friendly and accommodating. 24 hour coffee is always a plus in my book. Due to Covid, breakfast was bagged, but good. Didnt get to enjoy the pool but others were having a great time in there. A plus is the short walk through the parking lot to Applebee's, Dunkin Donuts and Tim Hortons. Groceries across the street and just a minute from the thruway. Convenient and clean, would def go again.
I would stay there again. The driveway to the hotel was a little weird. The area was very nice though. It was close to family for my stay. The pool was open but I did not have time to enjoy it. Good location from the threat.
Only stayed one night but was very impressed with how clean the room was. During this Covid 19 mess it's nice to fill safe. The staff was great both the afternoon crew and the sweet lady that helped get us on the road early (5:00 am) with hot cofee and a bag of breakfast foods. Best Western motels go that one extra step to make your stay great.
The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, the pool and hot tub were perfect!! Beds could have been updated but other than that it was a great place for a little getaway. Check in was easy and hassle free.
Staff was horrible. I purchased 2 rooms for my sister and I with our kids today in over night.the 1st room had dirty sheets that resembled bodily fluid on them so they switched my rooms. I was so tired I inspected the sheets and went to bed without inspecting the unit thoroughly which I wasn't aware that I was supposed too. When I woke up my 10 yr old daught showed me there was actual blood all over the out side bottom of the toilette. I was extremely concerned especially since I have an immunocompromised 3 year old son that was with me and God forbid he encountered it and touched it who knows what he could get. Anyways that fonding warranted me to inspect the room in which opened the towels and found them stained with sporadic black smudges. Than I looked up and there was a plastic bag covering the smoke detector. When I brought this to the managers attention he did not care and was very disrespectful stating it wasn't there problem since i didn't notice it right away than walked me
The room was clean and quiet. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating. The morning front desk staff were not up to par for the usual Best Western standards. Charges were a bit confusing since I had received differing information from two different staff members. As a BW Rewards member, I will resolve issues once I return home.
We rented a Jacuzzi room for a getaway and had stayed at this hotel before. Our visit this time was disappointing we noticied there was no bedspread on the bed you could see handprints and smears on headboard. The matress was unsupportive and beat down which made for poor sleep. The Jacuzzi controls on tub were broken and the worse part was bacteria and dirt came out of the jets into the tub that is unacceptable. The management needs to start doing maintenance to this property. I would not stay there again.
Due to construction issues in our home, we spent almost four weeks at the Best Western. Every staff member was friendly, helpful and great at his/her job. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, they provide the best possible service and genuinely care for their guests. We were treated like valued family members. Thank you to everyone!
I had booked as just a place to rest my head for a night, but was pleasantly surprised with a great experience! The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and they welcomed my dog. Not only was hot breakfast provided, but they also had snacks and beverages available in the lobby 24/7 so when I checked in at midnight I did not go to bed hungry. I'm very happy with my stay!
The hotel has great staff food and high end soaps and lotions I enjoy the security cameras and state of the art door locks. My tv was hi fed with plenty of cable channels to choose from. I will definitely make this my primary hotel to choose for business travel. There is also a nice BE plus in Syracuse NY
the bed was not comfortable at all. the road noise was very loud in our room. the room was not clean , water Mark's on the furniture and drinks left in the fridge. the staff was very professional and polite.
this place is super....great price and a great place. I had a super quiet sleep and the staff was great!!! I had to initial a lot of forms but it was worth it. they also had food out for patrons 24 hours per day as well as drinks and coffee.... I really liked this place!!!! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and there was plenty of parking!!! I would stay here again and again and again!!!!!!
The walls are very thin and you can hear people talk in the halls and open the doors to other rooms. I was kept up late and woken early each day hearing people in the hall. The only reason I picked the hotel was indoor swimming pool which was broken and was not able to use
pleasant and CLEAN room ...I have a 18 lb.alaskan eskimo (dog) that travels with me and she enjoyed the stay also, lol! Next time I revisit the area, I will book at Best Western! cannot stress how important a nice stay means to me
A great surprise in a small town. Hotel looks great, very clean. Rooms are spacious and the Breakfast was more than expected with great choices. The staff was wonderful. I would stay here again and everytime we are in Fredonia.
Due to weather my reservation needed to be moved to next day. Hotel moved the reservation but did not inform me it was over 100.00 more. Printer broke so no bill until after stay. Manager won't return my calls.
I called the night before to make a reservation and was treated well. Gave me a room on first floor since I have difficulty doing stairs. Very clean and employees go out of there way to help. great breakfast and fruit and coffee available 24 hours
We called the night before to make a reservation and was able to get first floor room since I have dificulty doing stairs. No problems checking in or checking out. Room was spacious, good size refrigerator, very clean. All employees were very helpful If you mention you stayed at Best Western the Applebees will give you 10% discount off your meal
Pleasant surprise. Very clean, has snacks available and coffee available 24 hrs. If you stay here you can get a discount at applebees. Had the jacuzzi room--its in the main room...not bathroom. That was weird :)
The property was in poor repair (mostly cosmetic, but very noticeable), and the desk clerks were clearly not trained. The poor clerk when I arrived at 8 pm had three fairly large issues immediately- a guest went to their room after check in and that room was already occupied, a guest was charged double the correct rate when checking in, and after I checked I came back because my non-smoking room smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. She had no idea how to remedy any of this. She was clearly not trained on the billing, and could not adjust a guests' bill. She had no idea how to deal with the double booked room. She was able to move me to a different room, but it was a significant downgrade from my original room--I was fine with that, it was all that was available and I had no complaint over the room downgrade. However, she could not adjust my bill to the lower cost of the downgraded room. The poor clerk did her best, and kept a smile on her face, and I applaud her, but her management really failed her in her training. The new room I was assigned had a clean bedroom, but the bathroom was not cleaned. The walls in the bathroom had clearly been recently dry-walled, and large patches of it were unpainted. There were dirty towels on the floor and the shower was damp with used toiletries in it. I did not complain as the bed was made and I just wanted to sleep. I got some extra towels and just lived with it in the morning. Everything in the room was in general modestly unclean-- pretty dusty, splotches on the mirrors, hand prints and smudges of dirt were all over the place... it just felt uncared for. Nothing seriously unhygenic (remember, I chose not to make an issue of the bathroom to the staff, so they did not have an opportunity to fix that), but it felt run down and shabby as a result of the dust and disorder. In the morning, I found that I had been charged for the suite I had originally booked but had smelled of smoke. I asked the front desk staff to adjust my bill, and they said that they could not, as they had no way of knowing what the rate was for the suite or the double room I had ended up staying in, which is a ridiculous statement. I had booked through the Best Western website, so I had to pull up my reservation online to force the clerk to fix the issue. I do not like to be "that guy," but by this point I was pretty annoyed with the whole experience, and was unwilling to pay extra for a room I did not get to use.
Arrive in evening. Not told you HAD to enroll in special promotion and no offer to do so. Open bedding, no too sheet. Called front desk and said no service staff available. Finally talked her into getting us a sheet! We can make own bed! Next night we had to remake bed as bottom sheet not on properly. 2nd day.. no shampoo. Room attendant said they don't renew on stay over! What? Little bottle of shampoo doesn't go far!
We were greeted at check-in by a smiling Front Desk clerk. She made sure our room would be quiet and then proceeded to carefully go over all their amenities. We could help ourselves to Fresh coffee, tea, hot water, hot chocolate, 4 kinds of fresh fruit which was available for 24 hours in the breakfast room. Then she advised us they serve a complimentary breakfast until about 10 a.m. They have a wonderful pool and hot tub if we wanted to relax more. We were delighted at the quiet room after a long day of travelling. The beds were comfortable & our room was exceptionally clean. We had a wonderful bathroom as well as something I have never seen in a hotel before ~ a "fresh" santized remote was left on on the dresser in it's own packageing. That's a new one on me. The next morning we enjoyed their breakfast. The breakfast included packaged crumb cakes, do it yourself waffles in original and spice flavors, bananas, apples, plums & pears, scrambled eggs & bacon, English muffins, 3 kinds of breads as well as yogurt, cereal, and blueberry compote to put on the waffles. The young lady in charge of breakfast also offered us Gluten free breads and vegan options if we needed them. The Front Desk clerk handled everyone of the guests with kindness, patience and professionalism. Service is professional, rooms clean, pool was fantastic & breakfast outstanding!!! And they allow dogs! Next Trip on I-90 .. I'll be staying here in Dunkirk. it was a lovely stay.
We brought our 2 dogs with us and we had no issues. A reasonable charge of $10/dog. Easy place to walk them. We got in late and they had some food available so we didn't have to go out again. We had yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, cookies, and donuts available. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and the room smelled clean.
This was my first time staying at the Best Western Dunkirk and Fredonia Inn. It surely won't be the last! This hotel was superb!! The location was great, the hotel was clean and the decor was brilliant! The breakfast was magnificent! The room and amenities were perfect! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Dunkirk and Fredonia!
Definitely not my first choice, more expensive than some major city hotels, $200 per night is totally unreasonable for a hotel of this quality. I've stayed in NYC for less, at far nicer hotels. As someone that literally lives in hotels.....I would NEVER stay there again
Due to limited choices in Dunkirk, and a horrible stay at another hotel, I chose Best Western. The driveway is hard to find and I don't think there's a sign on the building. However, I knew it was close to Applebee's, so I just drove in back of the restaurant. I was met at the front desk by, Kelvin, who I knew was a trainee from my phone conversation when I made the reservation. Kelvin said he was "waiting for his shift to end," not the best thing to tell guests. I was unable to unlock my room with the key cards and had to made several trips back to the desk. Kelvin, the only employee around, seemed irritated that he had to help me and said "there's nothing I can do if you don't know how to use it." He begrudgingly walked to my room and was able to open the door. Later that evening, as I showed the room to my Dunkirk family, my brother-in-law discovered that one of the key cards simply didn't work. The next day as I checked out, I told the employee at the desk but she didn't seem to care. Overall, the hotel was clean and fairly quiet except for some road noise, but I expected better customer service for the price.
Had a few days at this hotel recently. I was meeting a few friends for a summer getaway and we took 3 rooms here. The cleanliness of the rooms and and fresh hot breakfast bar were impressive. The mattresses could stay to be replaced. The indoor pool is small but a nice spot to relax when children aren't present.
This Best Western greatly exceeded all expectations. I typically stay at higher priced hotels. However I would choose this Best Western over those higher priced hotels any time. Staff was professional and very courteous. Property is well kept in a nice, quite location close to restaurants and stores. Room was exceptionally clean and bed was comfortable. Staff goes above and beyond to provide basic snacks 24 hours a day such as juice, coffee, pastries, yogurt, etc. which were greatly appreciated after long business travel and work day. Will definitely stay here again!
There is no fitness center in this hotel. They direct you to go across the street to the Quality Inn, where the weight machine is actually out of order. If you stay in a room adjacent to a jacuzzi tub, when someone runs the tub you may as well leave your room due to the noise.
I had the pleasure of asking Nicole at the front desk quite a few questions about the area. She was very knowledgeable and patient and a delight to deal with. Having worked for many years in customer service it was very clear that she enjoyed her job!
Ants in room, cable cord missing. Wanted king room as this was anniversary weekend, front desk staff was kind enough to help move our reservation to another hotel with an upgrade. Outside property & lobby were very clean.
Beds are uncomfortable, housekeeping turns off heat/air daily to return to an uncomfortable room. Only redeeming value is I could have my dog with me. Room was clean, mostly quiet, but honestly the area and what you get should be closer to half what paid.
This isn't the fanciest hotel, but it's quiet and convenient, and has amazing staff. They go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast is simple but good, and its available 24/7.
Clean and comfortable - a nice, reasonably priced place to stay. Refrigerator in the room is helpful. Parking was plentiful and convenient. I would caution people to consider there is no elevator and to book room accordingly if that is an issue for you - we asked for 1st floor and they seemed happy to accomodate us.
This was our family's first stay at a Best Western, and we were pleasantly surprised. Wonderful hotel. We were touring colleges, and this was perfect. Terrific breakfast - kids loved the waffle maker. We didn't use the pool, but it was also quite lovely.
What a pleasant surprise this hotel was. I stay at a number of Best Western hotels for work and personal travel, and the staff here is second to none! Great from desk team who checked us in, a super friendly morning crew, and all around nice people. The hotel is the usual BW, but they have an indoor pool, small, and spa/whirlpool. The breakfast area was SUPER CLEAN and the staff was right on top of making sure it stayed that way! Wonderful stay...and now that the middle son is heading to FRED this fall semester, I imagine I will be here a lot!
This hotel was clean and the people were very kind and helpful. It is right off of the throughway exit and have both a Tim Hortons and a Dunkin donuts in front of it. It is also near a lot of shopping. Our room was clean and so was the breakfast and lobby area. It could use some decor updating and some updated information on their thermostat directions. The room had plenty of lighting and plugs and the bed was comfortable. It also had a good size fridge in it. I will stay again in the future.
Hotel is average , cute pool for kids , rooms are not bad, but the housekeeping staff are very loud and rude and have no sense of customer service. Didn't get any sleep the 2 weeks I was there working
Nice, clean hotel. Walls and floors could use a bit more sound proofing (I could hear a person snoring in another room), but as an apartment dweller, it wasn't a big deal. There was a heavy snowfall during the night and the parking lot was promptly plowed in the morning which was helpful. The hotel is very close to SUNY Fredonia.
the front desk staff are wonderful. they have a nice pool and hot tub area and a hot breakfast. easy on and off the interstate. would stay there again for sure.eat at tuscany market down the highway it has the best sandwiches around
This hotel had a very friendly staff. The hotel was clean, comfortable and accommodating. I could not have asked for a better stay. You are close to all restaurants and shops. Close to points of interest. I was very happy.
It was clean, easy check in and out staff at the desk had wonderful customer service skills. I would recommend this BW to anyone. I have stayed five times on business. Never a bad visit. Has pool and sauna and very, very clean. No elevator.
We recently stayed at this Best Western while doing a road trip to the Lake Erie area. We checked in very smoothly and got a great rate. Our room was very nicely appointed and clean. I guess my only complaint it a lack of elevator. Kind of tough to carry suitcases and bags if you get a 2nd floor room. If you have mobility issues definitely get a first floor room. There was a nice small pool area with a hot tub. Breakfast was well stocked and very clean. Close to many area restaurants. An Applebees is within walking distance!
This hotel needs a lot of TLC. Room had a weird smell to it. This smell made it a Terrible rating for me. Bathroom mirror was not clean, nor was the toilet tank lid. In the lobby was a iced water dispenser with slices of lemon. Nice idea but the device holding the water was pretty sorry looking. I would be afraid to drink from it. I would raise this hotel to maybe a 2 or 3 if they had a better housekeeper in charge, aired out & deodorized the rooms, & just replace the water dispenser. Simple, inexpensive changes you would think.
I enjoyed my 3 nights here. Had a little trouble at first finding the driveway. Twice the people I was in the car with went in the "Exit" driveway. Absolutely hated that there was no elevator since in had a big heavy suitcase. BUt, after that, the staff was nice, helpful and did what they could to find me a good rate, to open the jacuzzi for me at midnight, to try an accommidate requests. The room was clean and spacious. They have a good breakfast which I wish I was not on Pacific time and could had made it to more than once. But, it was great that they had many items available all day. I will stay here again.
Staff was friendly and extremely accommodating..They went out of there way to help us. The beds on the otherhand aren't the most comfortable and 2 queens in the rooms would help.Breakfast was good...
On our way to a family reunion in W.V. we spent the night at the Best Western in Dunkirk NY. The hotel was conveniently located right off I-90. Check-in got complicated when a new employee had been left alone and wasn't familiar with gift cards. However, after it was sorted out and we were checked in we found the room was very clean and spacious. Staff was very accommodating. But checking out became a hassle when first we were given someone else's bill. And the. we were charged 2x on our credit card. Still trying to sort that out.
Move-in day for my daughter's sophomore year. I was very tired from my travel and helping her unpack. Needless to say I was looking forward to a good night rest a d wasn't disappointed. Had a marvelous bed time snack and a marvelous breakfast. Enjoyed my room and awesome television. Quite location and close to shopping area. Wonderful stay.
It's comfortable and convenient to the thruway. They provide breakfast in the morning. It is mainly continental but also bacon and a waffle maker - better than the typical Has a nice secluded parking area with no street noise. Overall it is a little dated - but works. Our room was clean - only issue was that the bathtub had some gouges in it near the drain. I found it to be very expensive for what you get. Dunkirk/Fredonia generally isn't a big tourist attraction (Dunkirk's heyday was 100 years ago) - albeit a nice, scenic stop - I suspect pricing is because you are right off the thruway. Overall - certainly worked for us.
We were road weary and just needed a place to sleep. The hotel down the road looked questionable so we pulled in here. The price was more than some top notch B & Bs we've stayed at. What is in this area to command such high prices?? The evening clerk was just this side of rude. The room was ok as was breakfast but nothing that warranted such a high price. I did not hear conversations from other rooms or the hallways but the room doors seemed on a slant so they slammed shut anytime anyone went anywhere. Although we stay in Best Westerns often, I would not stay here again.
We spent two nights here August 2018. It is close to Lilly Dale and the waterfront in Dunkirk (about 7-8 miles either way) . It was freshly renovated, very clean and the staff were very friendly. It has a nice indoor pool that is well maintained and a lovely breakfast in the morning of the usual fare including waffles.
Went away for a mini girls vacation. Room was very clean. Hospitality was wonderful. Hot breakfast was greatly appreciated before starting our day. Pool very accessible and clean. Would definitely stay again!!
Hotel 3-3.5 but price outrageous for it in a small town just 'cause it's better than the hotel on the lake & various reunions going on. The price is prohibitive for a senior citizen coming home for a class reunion ! I feel ripped off ! If the price was less it might be worth it. Can't believe Best Western supports such price gouging !!!! Bathroom very small. Soap size pathetic. Odor from rug which seemed dirty.
We drove in from Canada and we chose this hotel for no other reason then the close proximity to Lilydale, NY - the last spiritualist Assembly in the entire USA. The service we got at BW was exceptional! Rachel worked the front desk - she is service on 2 feet. Always has a smile for everyone and ready to make a difference for any of the hotel guests! Emily looks after the food and beverage department. We knew that breakfast was included into our room charge however this is the first time when a hotel left doughnuts, cookies, juices, coffee and a variety of fresh fruit and yoghurts out for the guests for the entire day at no extra charge! WOW!! They also have a business center and a pool!! They are "hidden" behind Applebee's and they have a deal going with them for a discount for hotel guests!! The driveway leading up to the front door is very well kept - it gave the feeling of entering a different dimension of peace and beauty! Very highly recommend it (P.s. make sure you say Hi to Bruno - the hotel mascot - the cutest little dog!
Was just staying for the night. Front desk was ver friendly despite us getting in at midnight. Room was very clean and the shower had great water pressure. This is stuff that hotels should have, so I don't know if they should really get applause for that but it's better than the alternative! The one blemish was the house keeping. We'd had very little sleep over the last 36 hours and so I put the do not disturb sign on the door. But somehow even with that house keeping came by THREE TIMES, knocked loudly and yelled that they were there. The first two times we were asleep so that was really unpleasant. The last time we were about 15 minutes away from checking out. If there's a do not disturb sign on the door that doesn't mean you're supposed to loudly declare that you've arrived and bang on the door. It means DO NOT DISTURB. But besides that, sure, a pleasant enough place. For the area I think it's supposed to be the best choice and it certainly was clean enough.
The Best Western was a great place to stay. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was delicious - real scrambled eggs! The breakfast area was open all day with snacks and beverages for guests.
This hotel appeared to have been renovated fairly recently and was attractively decorated. My room was very nice and quiet and the breakfast selection was varied with some cold and hot items, including waffles and fresh fruit.
Thank you for accommodating a tired couple with a pet! Nicole and Nate were kind to tired travelers! Great Snacks for my hubby who looked for something to eat at 11 PM at night. Eggs and sausage for breakfast with some yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast!
We arrived after dinner, driving 8 hours for a college visit the following day. Our room #224 on the second floor had malfunctioning AC. I immediately went to the front desk and was told "it was hot outside so...I can see if the maintenance person can come up." She seemed extremely irritated at having to deal with this. It was 84 degrees in the room. No one came. I returned and actually spoke to the maintenance person who said "it was hot out and the thermostat is not connected...so it is not accurate, I will check it." No one came. At 10 pm I called downstairs and the attendant(new shift) came up. It was not working but slightly blowing air. Nothing she could do. Sold out. The room was 80 degrees. Needless to say it was not a restful night. Very poor customer service and maintenance. The AC WAS broken, needs to be fixed. No remedy. Told to speak with the GM as we booked via third party.
We were in town for a one day event so we needed a room for a quick overnight, rather than drive 3 1/2 hours home after a long day. I hopped onto Priceline.com to find a hotel (we weren't familiar with the area) and booked a room. Upon checking in, I was informed that the exasperated lady at the front desk had "spent an hour and a half on the phone trying to get payment verification" and that if she hadn't gotten it, she was going to charge me again and make me deal with Priceline on my own.....with raised eyebrows I asked if everything was taken care of and she told me "you're lucky, yes". The hotel was clean and quiet. Breakfast was standard, but fresh. Upon checking out I asked the front desk if I was all set. A different girl was working the desk and asked if I had gotten a receipt under my door...I told her no. She looked in the computer and said "you booked through a third party, you'll have to get it from them"....so in my opinion, the employees are pretty quick to discredit you as an actual paying customer if you book your room online. I won't be booking there again. In the future I'll stay at The Clarion, just a short drive away.
Relaxing and restful stay before a long drive home. Facilities included pool, sauna, free breakfast and snacks throughout your stay. Walking distance to shopping, dining, banking and entertainment. Parking available.
The weekend we stayed at the hotel there was a special event going on in town and the nightly rates appeared to have been jacked up almost 50% over normal rates. Over $150 per night for a standard room is a little high for a small town Best Western. Most other hotels in town had done the same thing. I thought there were laws against this. The hotel itself was Ok, your standard Best Western. The only issue that we incurred was a shortage of eggs and bacon when we arrived for breakfast about 7:30. When staff was told a new supply arrived in a few minutes
We have stayed here many times and have always had a good experience- this isn't a fancy hotel, but the rooms are nice, the service is good, and they keep updating the facilities. Until recently, the WiFi was pretty terrible, but that has changed- on our last stay, the WiFi was terrific- speedy, easy to log on, didn't keep getting kicked off like before. Even more reason to stay here again!
Great staff at this hotel and it is pet friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were very busy so we did not use them. Complimentary breakfast bar...waffles, cereal, toast, fruit, etc. Lots of stores and restaurants close by. I would stay here again.
There are not a lot of choices in Dunkirk, but come on! It's 2018 and how freaking hard could it be to upgrade beds. The bed in this hotel was the most terrible bed I've ever laid on. I couldn't sleep. Yes it was hard, but it was also the kind of mattress you would expect in 1960, springs, hard, not even conforming. Had the floor been clean, I would imagine the floor would have been preferable. Walls were stained, floors, corners dusty and dirty. Towels...omg. There was a number of HAIRS and dirt in the folded towel! Gross. I had the room paid for for 2 nights and ended up just leaving and getting an airport hotel so I could get the sleep I needed. Glad I did. This hotel is not a healthy place to breath, sleep, relax, focus.....it will shave days off your life I'm sure. AVOID if at all possible. Additionally, I see many people's reviews where this was an open hotel during a snow storm....I get that, but I would imagine staying in the car in a parking lot would be more comfortable. The tip envelope for the maid service was laughable after finding the hairs, btw.... To whoever manages this hotel, you would have a GOLD MINE if you swapped out your beds for something from this decade.
Staff was nice , hotel is not. STAYED IN ROOM 222. Requested 2nd floor for added security but no elevator so had to carry luggage up flight of stairs.Room sort of seedy, not filthy, but not clean either. The faucet had sponge markings on it, not shiny. TV initially did not work, front desk helped so I could manually get it to work using buttons on set but remote did not work. The heater/AC UNIT did not work. Thankfully warm spell in February so temperature in room was just a tad cooler than I would have liked but I was not freezing. In the morning, tepid shower, not cold but not hot enough to make the mirror fog up with the bathroom door closed. Forgot bathing suit so did not use pool/hot tub but it was oddly placed opposite the front door with the breakfast bar with windows between pool and front door so EVERYONE would see you in pool. Express check out the receipt was folded in the card entry “key slot” not under the door so anyone passing by could have taken my receipt with name / address on it. In the morning, son foun hair in his eggs. All around bad experience, however staff was very pleasant.
I spend every summer at this hotel when visiting family. Much of the staff have become friends/family. We are treated quite well especially by Raquel. :-) The only one we always have issues with is Cindy as usual this stay was no different. I was home for a funeral in December, checking in late at night after a very long 750 mile drive, with kids and grandkids. Naturally we were tired and already feeling down due to circumstances. It was very cold and snowy outside and the hotel was putting in new flooring in the lobby. There was a narrow walkway for anyone to go through, however, Cindy made us go outside to a side entrance to carry in all our items trying to get over snow banks. I did speak to Dustin the GM and he made things right as usual. I was having a rough time since it was a parent's death so the extra comments about how her parents death was so much worse was not necessary. Again, thank you so much Dustin and Raquel for the assistance given to me and my kids during such a rough time. See you in the summer.
Filthy, bugs, mold, plumbing fell off while taking shower....twice. Went to desk and asked for refund, I was told no, that the rooms didn't warrant a refund. Called corporate and they have no power over the individual owners of the hotels. They took report, but ultimately have no persuasion over refunds. So if you want to spend $150 on a filthy bug infested hotel, that the plumbing falls to your feet as you shower...this is the place for you.
This hotel is very dated. No elevators, just one steep staircase up to second floor. Staff were very nice and friendly helping us with several requests. We've stayed here several times over the years, and while the lobby got a makeover, the property is still very dated. Breakfast was just okay, and older full size beds (no queens!) weren't very comfortable. Pool area is right when you walk in, you can see it from lobby and breakfast eating area, which is very odd and not private. Set back from main road, yet truck noises were extremely loud in the middle of the night. Right off the NY Turnpike, so fine for a quick overnight on the road Lots of amenities nearby - Applebee's is walking distance, Dunkin Donuts and Tim Horton's next door and a Top's supermarket across the street.
Very comfortable stay at this hotel. The housekeeping staff keep this place in good shape, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was spacious, and at night the property was very quiet. There was a decent breakfast and a pool. I would recommend this Best Western to anyone travelling through the region.
I stay here a few times a year as my son goes to the nearby college. I like the hotel the best in the area. Very conveniant to everything and the staff is great!!!! By far the best I have stayed at in the area.
The hotel is very easy to navigate. I had a nicely appointed room on the first floor with small sofa, desk, King size bed and bathroom. Breakfast was minimal; milk for coffee was in a carafe around a partition where the cereal another carafe by the coffee would have been convenient. The front desk was very efficient and helpful.
We stayed here to attend an open house at SUNY Fredonia - I was able to get a great price via a discount website and this seemed like the best hotel in the area. There are not many to choose from, so we took a chance on this one and I'm glad we did. My son and I arrived pretty late, so we just slept and ate breakfast before we checked out. It was perfect for this sort of thing. If he decides to go to school here, I will be back. The desk clerk told us they get booked up in advance for big weekends so that was good to know. Breakfast was nice to not have to travel about and find something on our own.
Stayed here one night before open house at SUNY Fredonia. Very convenient location. Close to everything. Food, movies, Walmart, fast food and college. Was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had both warm and cold food.
Nice appearance from the outside, clean and updated lobby and hallways, friendly staff, nice breakfast selection; however, I didn't like that they had plastic wrap under the scrambled eggs in the chafing dish. I like the fact that they always have snacks, fresh fruit, coffee/tea and cold infused water available in the lobby/dining area. The rooms need updating, especially the bathrooms. The shower in the jacuzzi king room was so tiny and had mold along the bottom track. When the room next door ran their water, it was so loud in our room. We switched rooms and were happier. The bedding was clean and comfortable, but the headboard needed to be cleaned and the furniture and mirrors needed to be cleaned better. Overall, I think it is one of the nicer hotels in the area, which is why we stay there every time we visit our daughter up at college.
Traveled on the road for a week and this was the best hotel out of all of them I was in. Had the amenities and quality of a Best Western Plus or better.. Great friendly staff and the night staff went out of his way to make sure I was settled and had whatever I needed as I was very late coming in.
Smells like a stable! Dirty carpets. You need an air freshener to be able to overcome the stinky smell! The last time I will ever stay in Best Western. I am sure no supervision to hold a minimum standard ‘
I am a loyalty member of the Marriott chain of hotels. On our return from Florida to Toronto we were planning on staying in Erie Pennsylvania, but unfortunately we had not made reservations at any of the hotels there. When we arrived at the Courtyard Marriott there were no rooms and as it turned out there wasn't a room available in the whole of Erie and immediate area. The fellas at the desk called far and wide and found us a room at the Best Western in Dunkirk. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and best of all our room was great. We were so thankful after a long day's drive. Great hotel.
Room comfortable and quiet but decor could have been updated. Sink drain very slow and toilet not very clean. Staff nice and helpful! Location hard to find if not using GPS. Difficult to make a left out of.
Carpet in hallways needs replacing and room was smelly. Location was good for my visit. Walked to boardwalk around corner for takeout so didn't eat Hotel food. Overall Hotel is dated and needs a rehab but front desk gal was friendly.
the inn was in remodeling. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. unfortunately, the inn did not offer two queen beds which would have been nice as we were traveling with our daughter. We had to sleep in a double which was too confining for us. The breakfast was typical of most inns; however, it did offer a nice selection of fresh fruits which we all appreciated
We have stayed here for years. Pricey at times but one of the nicer hotels in the area. Great staff. Snacks/Juices are available in the evenings which is a huge plus. They go out of their way to make it feel like "home". AC is wonderful and NOT musty or moldy smelling. Excellent environment for sensitive individuals except for the heavily chlorinated pool smell that overwhelms the lobby at times.
Hotel was clean and staff were available when you needed assistance. Continental breakfast and coffee available to guests provided a nice selection. Rooms were supplied with several amenities and information if you needed help or extra supplies.
This hotel is normally very good but going through remolding may be a little messy . The pool was very nice and the water warm . the lobby dusty due to remolding which continued into the late evening hours but was not noisy at all . Later this month they will start on rooms but they were good to begin with . I think they are pricey but not much to many choices in that area .
Experience was good. Our son atteds Fredonia, and it is great to have a great place to stay. We always find Best Western to be friendly, professional and family orientated. We always use Best Western in what ever state we go.
Arrived to find the hot tub, which we had specifically chosen this hotel for, was not operating. Two story and no elevator. No rooms available on the first floor. Mattress way to soft--sit on the edge and slide right off...should have been replaced. Corners of room dusty. Sofa stained. Billed as recently remodeled...guess that did not include the furniture. Not up to what we normally expect at a Best Western
Front desk clerk needs to learn the meaning of the word customer service. The glass in the breakfast room needs to be cleaned - it was filthy. Overall it was OK but I like the Clarion in Dunkirk better.
We stopped here on our way to Niagara Falls for the night because I read reviews it was good but it was one of the worst stays I have ever had at a Best Western. Our room was at the back of the hotel where they are doing renovations and all I could smell was new carpet smell until I entered the room and was greeted by a musty smell. The sheets seemed clean so we did stay the night for lack of energy to drive any further for the night. I really think they need to tear this building down and start over.
Hotel seems updated ie. lobby, halls, rooms need a little update now but still better than a lot of other hotels. Would have been excellent but for the tv remote which, it was explained, the tv's are new & the remotes were not programmed properly.
The staff at the front desk were very courteous and the lobby looked very nice. But when I got to my room it stank like cheap cologne and cigarettes. The bathroom wasn't completely clean and everything looked very worn and in need of renovation.
Not much choice in this area, plus the room rate too high for this type of hotel. Side door has been left opened on two occasions I have been there. Not very safe. Especially when staying on the first floor
I have never been to a chain hotel that does not provide an elevator for its guests!.The hotel was booked for a softball tournament and I could not change to the first floor! We had to shlep our regular sized luggage up the stairs!. The pool was not big but ok. The breakfast area is small for a packed hotel- the food area small but sufficient. There is an Applebees across the parking lot which we ate dinner and which saved us the stress of looking for a place to eat.
Clean room, nice staff. No hot water in room, had to call each day to get it fixed. Beds are pretty hard. hallway carpet is filthy, with no base, just a painted line. Not really worth what they charge.
I have stayed at this hotel about 4 times since my son is at school in Fredonia (a five-minute drive away!). As I travel for work and write about travel, I stay in hotels quite often. I have found the staff at this hotel to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. There are always extra amenities available like snacks and flavored water. It is always clean and comfortable.
Very bad experience never again will I return to any of your hotels at any locationI was eating up by mosquitoes all night the heat was on controllable cannot turn it off did not get any sleep the whole night
This hotel has clean rooms, very pleasant and helpful staff. The breakfast was included with the room charge and was very good. The indoor pool and spa was clean and well maintained. Free wifi worked without any problem connecting. Plenty of food choices within walking distance. Will stay there again.
Clean room and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Easy off/on from thruway with convenient parking at hotel. Breakfast options included yogurts, and some fresh fruits. That's a plus for me. Easy access to internet, with decent speed. I will stay there again.
This hotel is nice and conveniently located. We visited Jamestown, Niagara Falls, Lake Erie and some wineries. Easy to get to all and the B/W was a nice place to return to in the evening. If there is a drawback, it is the lack of an elevator. But there are only two floors and enough rooms on each to accommodate people's needs. There is a large parking lot and a very good breakfast. Infused water and coffee are available all day, and a bowl of apples in the lobby. Nice place! If we return to the area, we will definitely stay there again.
Nice Hotel located near the Interstate. Offers free Wifi and Breakfast. The staff here was very Friendly and helpful with local Restaurant suggestion. It's only 5-6 mile to Lake Erie from here and that view of the lake is worth the trip.
Was a nice hotel. Offers free wifi and breakfast. The breakfast was ok had the standard bagels, waffles eggs etc. not a big selection of it was free and convenient. The hotel is near a busy interstate and our room faced the hi way so we heard some of the traffic noise. The only thing I didn't like was the pool was right off the breakfast room and when we went to the hot tub in the morning it was a little strange to see people eating or looking in on you. Wish they would have a shade or some sort of curtain to offer a bit of privacy
We stay here yearly when visiting family. The staff is friendly and helpful. My grand-daughters were spoiled. The breakfast is real food, NOT processed items warmed up. Certain items are available all day which is such a plus. Only drawback is that they have a partnership agreement with the hotel across the street to use the pool and this hotels guests get to use the others work out facilities, which is not as much or equal. We pay more for this hotel for the indoor pool and over the past few years it has been pretty rough at times for little ones to use the pool when so many teens and others are out of control and it gets too crowded. Not fair to our wallet.
Excellent, the beer in the room was cold, room service of the prime rib & lobster was excellent, the whirlpool bath was relaxing, breakfast was brought to our rooms and our car was washed before we left!!! They even gave our German Shepherd a bath. Upon leaving, they carried our baggage out to the car for us.
thanks again for a friendly service...! We will sure consider your hotel next time we come by in the area for business. Glad we called in and received all the information we needed to make our decision to book with you. Pleasant stay......!
Very enjoyable stay while visiting Lily Dale. Clean, easy access off the highway. Like the set up of the hotel. Pool in clear view. Easy access to coffee and breakfast. Would stay here again. Reservations were easy to obtain. Front desk took their time to acclimate us to the area and our room. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Felt very safe. Like Applebees next door!!
We were in town for a family event, the hotel was nice, HUGE Breakfast, with eggs, waffles, yogert and much more. clean rooms (which is nice with 3 kids). they even had a play pen for my one year old. I had a very good experience here. And plan to use them again
Good for a quick overnight. If we had been here longer, the pool and hot tub looked very inviting though. Our room was comfortable and sheets and pillows were good. The only downside is a strange set-up to breakfast that leads to traffic jams. But good food!
A good breakfast was the best thing about this property. Service was OK+ too. And an Appleby's and Bob Evans is very close as is the NY Throughway. But...no elevator so avoid rooms on the second floor - very thin walls, so watch what you say and hope the folks near you do so as well - and lots of motorcycles making it noisy at night - and not cheap so no better than a decent value
This hotel is conveniently located just off the highway. The staff are excellent but the hotel is not. We were first given a room very near the lobby and breakfast area, but when we saw a few dogs and realized every guest would be going past the door or climbing the stairs there we asked to be moved. Carpets are old, room smelled stale. I have seen reviews mentioning a renovation, doesn't seem that it's finished yet. There is no elevator. Bring small luggage.
If you have animals you travel with, great. If you have allergies, dislike barking at 4 AM and slamming doors all hours (the dogs need to be walked), probably best to choose somewhere else. In a town where there is not much to do at night, a t.v. would be important -- bring your own. With the exception of a few bobby pins and dust left in the room, cleanliness seemed ok -- I always scour the room I check in to.
This hotel represents the normal standard we expect traveling around the country. The room was clean and nicely sized. The bathroom was also clean and had nice towels along with shampoo, conditioner, & lotion. Water pressures was not great. Free wifi worked well. Breakfast was free and there was scrambled eggs (average), sausage links (average), waffle maker, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, & fruit. Overall a good place to stay, but seemed a bit expensive for that area.
This is a very nice hotel in Fredonia. I have stayed at other hotels in the Fredonia Dunkirk area, and could never find a hotel worth paying for. I tried this hotel a year ago, and was very pleased with the cleanliness and service. I stayed again this year, and again, was very pleased. It is a clean, comfortable, and very nice hotel. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful. Thank you to this Best Western in Fredonia.
This is a great hotel for the money. The rooms and property and clean and well kept, and the staff is outstanding, very friendly and helpful with anything you need. They have a decent breakfast spread and fresh coffee, fruit, juice available all day. The indoor pool is clean and well-kept. We have stayed here a few times now and always had a very positive experience.
Clean it! Bath drains were very, very slow and left you with a full sink when washing hands and shower left you standing in water. Hot water was only warm. Bathroom floor was dirty. ROACH IN BATHROOM! Carpet had burn and a spot that was bald. Looked like carpet was dirty. Bed was uncomfortable. If roach was in bath, what about KITCHEN WITH FOOD!
Convenient location, extremely friendly, staff member Rachel was Amazing! Her breakfast set up was outstanding. I travel a lot she made our stay so worth the while. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. The housekeeping staff do a great job as well. Very clean pool/spa. Price was is comparable considering all of the above. We had choices of other hotels this is by far best for your dollar.
The staff and owner went out of their way to make sure we had everything we need and were always satisfied. We came in as strangers and I feel like we left with friends. You won't regret staying here!
Right off the highway-in like a jerk off I pulled into a parking lot with our RV and got stuck. Had I listen to my wife and take in the right we would've been in the parking lot of the hotel. So I started off the day on a bad note. Got to the hotel at about 10 at night the only one at the desk was very accommodating. He allowed me to park my RV wear some trucks were illegally parked in the back. And gave us a nice quiet spot in the hotel to get some rest.
This is a cute little town to stop in. The hotel was comfortable and customer service was good. There is a lighthouse 11 mins away and a yummy ice cream shop that my family enjoyed. We also did wine tasting at local vineyard.
Hotel was nice Staff was professional . Rooms were clean. Beds were extremely uncomfortable and small. Springs coming through mattress. A full size bed for 2 adults is not sufficient most hotels have queen beds.
If the $50 charge on my bank card from Expedia is related to this reservation, I'm genuinely UPSET. Will challenge through American Express. I made my reservation on-line directly with Best Western (I thought). Will I be charged for answering this survey?
Good weather. Great staff. Great accomidation. An very annoying dog next door. The staff was appoligized then upgraded to excellent accomidation with an hot tub. I travel a lot, never had an issue. First issue, immediately resolved. Fredonia BW should be your only choice when you are in the area.
This hotel was in the process of renovations - I believe I stayed in a newly renovated room. The room was clean and comfortable, and the setting for the hotel over-all was as pretty as you could get for being right off of the highway. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was decent.
The Best Western Dunkirk/Fredonia is a wonderful hotel for a quick overnight stay. The desk stay were very pleasant and welcoming. Everything about the facility was clean, neat, and in perfect working order. My bed was very comfortable and I slept soundly without the usual toss-and-turn due to an unfamiliar bed. The pool and spa tub were excellent and my children could not have been happier using them. I typically do not leave reviews but felt this outstanding experience warranted mention.
$200 a night with a two night min with tax on graduation weekend is a little much. Next time Airbnb. Hotel is about what to expect from Best Western. Maybe a little nicer but that $400+ I spent left a bad taste.
Was very run down beds uncomfortable and guest rooms smelled terrible. Expensive for the quality. Breakfast was ok pool was good staff pleasant. Good location and very few options of hotels in area. Plenty of restaurants nearby
Currently the Inn is going through a renovation that will end in about a year, but don't let that dismay you from staying here. Well of the road and right off Exit 59 of the NYS Thruway, the Inn is a great place to stay with nice clean rooms, quiet, and a friendly staff willing to help out. We stayed in a King Suite with a Jacuzzi. Well worth it after a long drive.. A complimentary breakfast is included. If ever out the Buffalo/Fredonia/ Erie, PA way. Stop here!
We stayed on a Thursday night, no reservation no problem. Hotel is under renovation but we got there late and left early so didn't affect us. Our room was clean and quiet and beds were comfortable. Can't ask for more than that. Applebee's is across parking lot and they are open late which we were thankful for. Only negetive was a slight scent of clorine in the room. When I looked out the window in the morning I realized the pool was right below our room.
Friendly staff and great place to stay ! I will use Best Western again! Great location ! Breakfast bar had a great selection. Parking area well lit! I felt safe as I traveling solo. Water pressure was good also
We have stayed in a few in Dunkirk and Fredonia. This was one of the better in town. Cleaner rooms. A bit more updated. The pool area has a hot tub and is clean. Pool is visible from lobby though. The breakfast is not bad. Room has a fridge which is handy. I believe your can use the gym at the hotel across the street ( comfort inn).
Can in tired after many hours on the road. Nice and helpful front desk. Comfortable room and relaxing hot tub/pool. Nearby restaurant we could walk to. Easy on and off I-90 highway. Would stay there again.
Wasn't very clean. Definitely needs updated. Wish we were told they have been working on the hotel when we stayed. They were very loud at times. The hallways had and odor. Our room smelled a little like mildew.
Pool, free internet, breakfast, clean rooms - excellent choice. The staff is friendly, the pool is warm, and there are snacks and juice always available. Easy parking and convenient location. Overall, a good deal.
Popped in late along our way, no reservation. Was cheerfully greeted at the desk, got a decent rate. Room was nice and clean, the only thing is I wish they had an extra blanket on the bed, or available in the closet. Hot breakfast was nice. Real scrambles Eggs, sausage, waffle station, Greek yogurt, pastries, fruit. The lady in charge of it takes pride of the breakfast and it shows. Overall great experience. We'd definitely stop here again!
I have stayed here a few times. . there isn't much in the area and after a 500 mile drive alone, i'm not willing to tackle Buffalo. It needs updating, to match the price. . .or a much lower price to match the rooms. The quality to me is similar to a Super 8. Walls are thin and you can easily hear tv and people talking. I decided not to stay there again as I was changed $160 total. . . this for a senior with AAA. I've stayed at other QI's that were far more affordable and so much nicer.
Excellent Interstate access. Well lite, large parking. Friendly reception. Expedient check-in. Very clean throughout. Nice indoor pool area with sparkling clear water. 24/7 availability of coffee, tea, fruit, cookies! Plenty of items, hot and cold, for breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, or recommend this hotel.
I have special needs and this BW went above and beyond to accommodate me. I was pleasantly surprised as in the past I have had problems. General Manager Dustin goes the extra mile if you get that request to him. Save money by booking DIRECTLY with them.Only complaint I would have is lobby area is HEAVILY CHLORINATED, beware. They really need to address this with proper ventilation and switch to a salt water pool. Overall, I have been staying here for 6 years and enjoy this hotel.
This is a safe bet for a good night's sleep when travelling east/ west the Interstate. A simple breakfast was offered. Free internet was offered, though the speed was a bit slow. We were travelling later at night and were happy to have found this spot.
The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well stocked. Breakfast was not quite as good as some of the other Best Westerns, but adequate. The area is very nice and there is a lot to see. We were overall satisfied other than the breakfast.
We stayed here as a stop off on way to Boston, from Ohio. Watch the rates, people got a cheaper rate walking in than I did from Expedia. When I tried to book direct it was sold out. Apparently Expedia and others buy blocks of rooms. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. There is an Applebees nearby. We did not stay long here. Would likely stay again if on this same path.
When our reservation nearby fell apart, we found ourselves, along with our friends, late in the afternoon seeking an alternative. There were two choices for weary travelers and we chose the Best Western because it had the higher rating in a motor club guide. The cost was exorbitant for what was offered. The two stars are mainly for the well trained friendly helpful staff at the front desk and at the breakfast. The lobby is small and cramped as is the breakfast room. The entire facility is in need of a housekeeping makeover. Our room had stained carpet, a dirty tub and grimy handprints on the walls. We could not depart soon enough.
I found this motel a very comfortable resting place. The pool is clean and refreshing, and the hot tub is hot! This is easily accessible to the highway, but set back from the bulk of traffic. There are, however no elevators, so beware.
OK place to stay, especially if you don't have high expectations! "New Clean TV Remote" didn't work; Instructions posted at Thermostat were incorrect. Hotel copies driver's license, because they want to ? Awkward location, set back/hidden from road; no curb appeal !
we were suppose to stay at the Clarion in this city but the room was not what I asked for and the staff was very rude we did not even have a refrigerator in the room for a 10 day stay? Moved to the Best Western and they could not have been nicer and the hotel and room was perfect. Stay here not the Clarion.
Not sure why this hotel cost this kind of money. It was old, outdated and musty smelling. Cleaning was lacking and staff was unfriendly. Will take all into account when choosing to stay at Best Western again
Came here recently on our way to drop our daughter off to school and needed a break at night. The town itself is a stop on the highway. Very convenient. Pros: - great price. - decent lobby. - provides breakfast in the morning. Mainly continental but also pre made omelette and bacon. Has a waffle maker as well. - nice secluded parking area. No street noise. Cons: - no in house restaurant or bar. Not even for beer or wine. Had to go to tops to get beer. - the hot water in the shower was annoyingly lukewarm. - the room registered 88 degrees when we walked in around 10:30P. And it took a long time for the temperature to drop to reasonable levels. - I would have probably given in 3 stars but my wife felt that the room was not very clean, especially the sheets and towels seemed worn out.
Stopped over during a long distance car drive for a night with the puppy. They are dog friendly. Clean small room. Relatively quiet. Overall no frills. Right off the highway. There is a shopping center across the street with a Tops grocery store and a few restaurants and that was handy. Applebee's is practically in the same parking lot. There was enough green space to walk the dog. Tiny indoor pool. Quick breakfast average coffee. Unfortunately it was a Saturday night and VERY PRICEY for what is was because beware the Best Western website automatically defaults to search the hotel room for the next day (not the day you are actually on/same day) so we were in for a big surprise with the rate once we arrived (and of course this was a common mistake that had happened to many people).
We recently spent a night at the Best Western Hotel in Dunkirk. We were very pleased with our room which was very clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent very helpful and friendly. We would stay again.
Staff was not very friendly at check in. Hotel would not honor Best Wester Rewards due to address on license and address in system not matching. I was notified that the hotel does not have an elevator. This I was told while wandering the hall looking for it. They put me on the second floor with several bags to carry up stairs.
The staff at this hotel have always been very friendly and have always greeted me with a hello and a smile in the morning and a smile and a good night in the evening. They always ask what they can do to help make my stay better. Quality service and a great value.
The yogurt, fruit, and snacks available at all hours made this clean motel feel like home. A variety of drinks were also available around the clock. We keep conventional hours, but when one is away from home, it is nice to be able to grab a yogurt or a bagel whenever you want it.
Easy access from I-90, the hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I picked this location as a last minute thing, as we were traveling and our plans were fluid. I am very happy we chose to stop here, and we will do so again if we find ourselves needing a room in the area again.
We had a good overnight here. It's a fairly small hotel but was clean and quaint. Free breakfast had plenty to choose from and had waffles, eggs and bacon served 6-10am. Pool was small but the water was perfect temp and we had it all to ourselves this morning, pool open 6am-11pm. Hot tub also available. The room was clean.l and comfortable. Staff was courteous and helpful. We'd stay there again if we were passing through.
Upon arrival, after checking in, we realized that there was no elevator and since we had heavy suitcases, we inquired about switching to a room on the first floor. The person at the front desk offered some reasons as to why we might not want to switch (room not the same size, price difference) even though we offered no objections to either. She continued to counter our inquiries with an unwillingness to help, so we finally gave up and went up to our room. When we opened the door, we were hit by a wall of stench. It was late and we were tired, so we just called it a night. The next morning we mentioned the smell to the room attendant, who immediately acknowledged that all the rooms had a bad odor due to "air conditioning cleaning" and handed us a can of spray disinfectant/deodorizer. On the second and third days, we had to go to the front desk to have our key cards recharged, since they didn't work when we got to our door. Plus, on the third and fourth days, we noticed that the rear security door was unlocked and no key was needed to gain entry to the back of the building. Our last evening there, we discovered our t.v. remote was gone. The person at the front desk issued another one, which did not work. The front desk person said that there was nothing more they could do. In the meantime, another couple approached our hotel door, and would have entered if one of us had not been in the hall at the time. This other couple had just been assigned to our our room and had keys to enter. They returned to the front desk and the mistake was corrected. About an hour after our request for a t.v. remote, the front desk person knocked on the door with a new remote and paper instructions on how to program the device. Since it was after 10 pm, we declined the offer. The next morning we tried to address the issues we had experienced with the front desk staff. They indicated they did not have the authority to address the situation and said they would call the manager, then said he would give us a phone call. That has been more than 24 hours at this writing and we have not been contacted by the manager or anyone else. Having a problem is not unusual, however, having a staff to address your issues and offer some sort of relief or acknowledgment will go a long way to making a happy customer. We feel that the manager has fallen short in this area. On the plus side, the breakfast was decent and aside from the stench, the room seemed clean. Should the manager contact us, I would be willing to amend this review.
I'm generally a positive reviewer; however, in this case, I asked for their room rate, and they quoted me a rate $100 more than their normal rate. Fine - it's their business. What I don't appreciate is when I said thanks and started to leave, the night clerk sarcastically shouted, "Good luck trying to find a hotel tonight!" We then found the wonderful Comfort Suites in Edinboro, PA for a reasonable price later that night. The night clerk's remark will stick with me whenever I think of Best Western from now on.
Nice clean hotel. The friendly staff was very helpful. The pool look very clean, but I never saw anybody in the pool. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. I would stay at this hotel again.
Courteous and very accommodating staff and a very comfy room, the jacuzzi was an added bonus after riding all day. breakfast was just enough to start the day right Unfortunately i never had time to enjoy the indoor swimming pool that looked well maintained and also the Gym.
This was a business trip, so I did not get to enjoy the pool or other amenities. The room appeared to have been recently updated and the air conditioner was very nice with a wall mounted thermostat. The fridge in the room was new and larger than most. Room appeared to be clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom floor could be mopped a little better. The staff was friendly and helpful. Conveniently located right off the turnpike with restaurants and shopping nearby.
Property was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and spa were superclean!! We enjoyed the free breakfast.. There was a great selection of hot and cold items, plus various drinks, not just coffee and juice. Really appreciated the 24 hr open fruit, yogurt and drink machine in the lobby since we did not arrive until late, 9:30 PM. We saw families with small children and they were very welcomed.
Staff were very accomodating and did excellent customer service. Location is very convenient, Outsside of hotel is nice. Parking is very spacious. The only short coming is an elevator to bring up baggages if staying on upper floors but i did not have that issue. I was thank ful for being able to check in earlier than check in time
The room looked old and run down. The grout around the toilet was gross. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling. Carpet looked like it has never been cleaned. When we arrived, there was a pool of water on the floor in the bathroom and the sink would not drain. Told the front desk clerk, who was helpful and she said she would look into it. We went for dinner and when we returned, the pool of water was gone and the sink was draining. Pool of water returned in the am. Bed was comfortable and that is about all I can say.
Bathroom floor had lots of hair on it, but desk attendant took care of that while we went out to a function. She was very concerned about it. Mattress really bad--a lot of motels have bad mattresses--maybe a lot of people don't care or know better, we do care. Never stayed at motel that left out so much food for guests for the whole day. They get very high marks for that. Front desk people very nice.
Hotel is right on the Garden State Parkway, our room was very close to the highway, very noisy. The lobby is very clean and updated compared to the rest of the building. The stairs had treads moving and looses as stepped on, the towels and bath matt are frayed and worn out. No decaf offered at breakfast. They do allow dogs, one of the few in the area, the reason we stayed there.
The front desk staff was very friendly. We got a king bed room with the jacuzzi tub and it was awesome. We were just traveling through so we only stayed one night, but if I am ever in the area again I would stay here. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.
We stayed here for the weekend while we were at a dog show at the fairgrounds. The staff is outstanding - everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and conveniently located. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. We didn't use the pool, although it looked small - it seemed to be well cared for and clean. The breakfast area was also clean and well stocked, beverages were available 24 hrs. a day. We were on the ground floor, on the same side as the hwy., which we could hear but it wasn't much of a problem for us. The motel is a little dated, but it was safe and the room/hotel was clean. There was plenty of exercise area for my dog outside and the grounds were kept clean. The staff was very helpful to us when we had a tire that needed repair. They recommended Ellman's garage - who took care of us immediately and it was a very inexpensive repair. I'd definitely stay here again.
This is a wonderful hotel; lovely and clean with warm, professional staff. I have stayed in Fredonia at different hotels before, and was shocked at the poor quality and high expense. This, however, was a great experience. I will always stay at the Best Western when I return to Fredonia.
very happy with our stay here. We had a problem with the A/C at first. Desk person tried to get it working for us. We were on our way out for dinner, decided to wait til after to see if it improved. Once they knew it hadn't, we were given another room immediately. Called within a half hour to make sure we were happy with the change. Very satisfied over all.
I stayed here for four nights while house-hunting in the area, with my wife and two-year-old daughter. It's a no-frills, fairly inexpensive travel hotel, so don't expect luxury, but they do what they need to, and they do it well. The staff are friendly and competent, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is adequate. I would have liked to see a bit more variety/choices in the breakfast, but it was perfectly fine for a few days of travel. Heated pool and hot tub available for the kids. You can hear the thruway a bit from the property, but it's just far enough away to not be disruptive.
This was a very clean hotel just of the I 90. Easy to access both coming and going. Our room was spacious. The desk staff both in the afternoon and overnight were great. They kept the breakfast area was open with snacks and coffee all evening. The access to the entrance of the hotel was very good, especially when taking a luggage cart in and out. There were restaurants, shopping and gas stations near by. The price was very reasonable. The were great with our service dog. If there was one thing I would add to the room, it would be a microwave. They allowed us to use the one in the breakfast area. Certainly would stay here again.
We stayed here for one night on our way back home from a vacation. It was a wonderful experience. We got the King Suite with a Jacuzzi in the corner of the room. Everything about the stay was super. It was close to restaurants for dining and they served breakfast early so we could get back on the road.
First, the hotel does not have an elevator in case that would an issue We have had the same room both times and have always felt comfortable. ...the front desk is very friendly and accommodating ...breakfast is standard...but fit our need...beds are comfortable and pillows are like cloud puffs. ..room shows signs of wear but clean. ..all the staff are really friendly. ..
We did the Lake Erie Wine Trail and decided to stay in Dunkirk. I was very pleased with the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel and staff. One of the things that I liked the most is that you can get coffee/tea 24/7. They also had cookies and sweet rolls. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean. The hotel is located right near 90 so it easy access for travel to other places. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
We stayed at the Best Western Dunkirk for a family function. Our rooms was quiet, comfortable and clean. The room was at the end (#219) of the building and had an "L" shape which seemed a little strange. The bed, desk and TV were at the end of the long end of the L. A lounge chair was in the corner of the "L" basically looking at the corner and no where near the TV. One good thing about this room was since the bed was around the corner it was perhaps a little quieter. We did not have any issues with noise but this was the off season. The pool was very small but sufficient for the kids. The breakfast was the typical "free" breakfast - nothing special. They did have a reasonable amount of breakfast seating which was good. This hotel is a good value for the price. We stayed on the second floor but note that this hotel does not have an elevator. These are my opinions.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the bargain room I reserved on Internet on my cell phone had a jacuzzi for two in the room. Nice to get a king bed and jacuzzi for less than $100. Maybe we just lucked out. The room itself was updated and larger than some hotels, nicer than the lobby. Comfortable bed. We'd chosen it because it was near I-90 and quite dog friendly ($10 fee, front desk staff fawned over the dog). The breakfast was good. I appreciated the yogurt choices, granola and dried fruit. My husband liked the hot breakfast. Although like other reviewers he noted the waffle iron left black on his waffle. But eggs and sausage were fine. The staff were attentive. We also appreciated the fresh fruit (and cookies and Danish and more) available 24 hours. The biggest downside was we could hear I-90 from our room. Not terrible but noticeable. We still may stop when driving through area again. But will ask for a room on other side of building. Otherwise the hotel was very quiet. Plenty of place to walk dog outside. (And we for food Chinese takeout from, Holy Wong, with food tripadvisor reviews)
we were greeted at the desk nicely but our card didn't work at the outside door and had to go back and get re- keyed.. having a room downstairs we heard a lot of foot traffic and door opening and closing in our room. The whirlpool was relaxing but had many nozzles missing and open areas that should have had something over them. Over all we did ger to relax and had a comfortable night away.
We make a yearly trip to Fredonia to pick-up vines for our vineyard in Mooresville IN. We make the trip in 2 days and always stay at the Best Western in Dunkirk. It is very close to Double A Vineyards and very close to all of our favorite local restaurants. Always a nice stay....staff is always very friendly, rooms are always clean and a nice breakfast before we get back on the road to head home.
internet worked perfectly. pool hours were good. easy to navigate hotel. getting a face-lift it seems, but still good staff and clean. pet option much appreciated. could/should clean up debris from winter in landscaping around hotel.
I stayed one night on March 20th and it was a pleasant stay. I will say they have put some effort into making it more modern, did keep the old world field to the decor in the lobby and halls, I like the fact that they kept that feel but the rooms are much more modern and it is two different styles from lobby/halls to room. NOthing to rate the bad at all just not expected I thought rooms would have been dated but to my surprise they were not. Pool is in the middle of the dining area which I was not so pleased with but will again not rate the hotel badly because of, I requested that they frosted the glass more than half way and it will make it more private for those swimming that having someone eating while you swim in the am. Overall for the stay I needed it for it was perfect. I will be returning in 2 weeks
The first thing I encountered when arriving was the receptionist from hell. I will admit that I am an EVIL smoker, but I had to pick up key daughter was shopping. I got out of my car parked in handicapped spot since I am. Put out my cigarette in my car, used my ashtray. It wasn't like I went to the door and threw it on the ground for all to admire. I never do. I only needed to show ID to get to the room already paid for. The lovely woman who looked slightly like a witch, informed me that it was a non smoking hotel, which I knew. I don't smoke around my grand children anyway. I had hardly got to my ID and she was still sputtering how it was going to cost my credit card $500, WHEN i SMOKED IN THE ROOM. No, HELLO or HAVE A NICE EVENING. JUST THAT CRAP OUT OF HER MOUTH. I HAVE MANAGED BUSINESSES ALL MY LIFE and would have canned her on the spot. The rooms stunk rugs in coridors were disgustingly filthy and indoor pool so small it was a joke. Room keys didn't work in any of the doors but no sins to let you this. Great place to stay.
As the parents of a SUNY Fredonia student, this is not the first time we've stayed here. As always, a clean room, very conveniently located. This time we used the hot tub and pool, which were wonderful! What set this visit apart was the great service we received from Rachel. She was so accommodating, not to mention outgoing and very friendly. We'll definitely stay again!
Hotel in need of basic maintenancr, room had obvious damage with possible health concerns had to move, nothing offered for inconvenience, hotel was clean despite need for repairs. Breakfast was standard fare with microwaved entre, had to discard waffle due to carbon from worn out waffle maker. Should be much better for the cost per night, pool area a plus.
I stay here in the summer for the beaches and on business. Close to town and the marina. The hot tub was broke down all weekend ,that was a small set back but it was ok. Told the desk clerk on Friday night she didn't seem to care and the morning crew knew nothing about it. will stay here again ...Rookies Bar for wings were great
Helpful staff, bed made of something like broken cinderblocks and overly soft pillows. Overall ok for a place to crash but for a hot tub weekend think twice. The bed was the worst part, just laying on it I could tell it was a problem, trying to sleep on it was misery.
Our son is at the college in Fredonia and this is where we stay when we come to see him. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is clean and close to the highway and the school so its perfect for families of students.
We were a group of 5 travelers and needed 2 rooms late at night. The manager at the desk that night was very helpful and we had use of two very large rooms. Breakfast was sumptuous! Beds were very comfortable. In our room, I had a minor cut on my foot from a fishing hook that had been caught on the floor carpet, left from a previous patron's visit obviously. When I called the front desk manager in the morning for some first aid, she (can't remember her name) was extremely apologetic even though it was not the hotel's fault at all, she went out of her way to give us a decent discount for our troubles and took utmost care to remove the hook from the carpet. For going this extra mile I would definitely give my review a 5 star.
Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful! Room was clean and spacious. I found the bed to be very comfortable, hubby thought otherwise. Breakfast was very simple. If you are looking for a place to rest your head this place is lovely, maybe plan to go out for breakfast or grab and go. Overall we were satisfied with our overnight stay.
Clean and friendly place to stay. Caring staff and real dog people. Even our dog had a great time playing with the staff. You will be treated like family. The breakfast was very good and everything was hot and fresh.
The hotel was okay, the room and lobby was clean, but the entire building smelled of smoke. It wasn't the heaviest of smells but it lingered everywhere. I have stayed at nicer hotels for better prices.
Not much to choose from in this area! It does have a pool and the kids enjoyed it! Beds were not comfortable, and the rooms seemed a little bit on the smaller. Good bang for your buck though. Continental breakfast was decent too! Can't ever go wrong with waffles!! Ha
Rachel at the front desk is FUNNY and wonderful!- good nights sleep, staff that really go all out to make you feel welcome :D I highly recommend this hotel. On this trip our son and daughter in law also booked a room there. IT was a family affair for sure!
We attended a swim conference at the University for three days. This our first visit to the Dunkirk, Fredonia area. We enjoyed the stay and the closeness of the motel to our destination. The area around the campus is beautiful. We found great places to eat.
Best Western was located conveniently off the highway. Unfortunately, it is very close and you can hear the traffic from the highway. Offered a very good breakfast, plus free wi-fi for the price. Also, other patrons decided to have a party right outside our room and it was a bit noisy.
Easy check in. Lots of parking. A few restaurants within walking distance. The pool and hot tub were in good order. Breakfast typical. The bathroom was huge but the shower was kind of small. Started to hear some road noise from RT90 in the morning. Staff was pleasant. I'd stay again.
Arrived very early, but room was ready, and staff was available for anything that was needed, but nothing was. Local paper were offered for us to make plans, and room, amenities and staff were at their usual best.
I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat if in the western NY area. Very helpful staff, nice room, good breakfast. Rachel at the front desk helped me out immensely with information in finding a restaurant.
I had a good experience and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was perfect, I checked other hotels in the area and this one is my favorite hopefully next time I will use the swimming pool and hot tub. if I had to suggest something I will say that perhaps room service offering burgers and sandwiches would b great! since theres not much restaurant selections late at night
I had a great stay at this Best Western. It's conveniently located right off the I-90, so I could hop off and back on easily. It's tucked awayenough that you can enjoy some peace and quiet. There is coffee and hot water available 24-7, and my room had a mini fridge. Rachel at the fromt desk was very friendly and helpful!
This hotel is old and in need of a renovation. Too expensive for the area it serves. not a lot of choices in area. Side door was broken and was told not to use it. But when I went out at night it was propped open with a safety cone. (I closed it since I didn't feel safe with it opened.
The hotel was great. Pillows were tiny small square ones, which was odd. The rooms were clean, however I am a strong believer that there should be NO hair on the floors and tubs. Other than that it was great. Oh and the Pool and hot tub weren't in order when we stayed. So make sure their renovations are all done if this is a key to your stay. Other than that.> it was Excellent... I mean is anywhere perfect? NOPE... We will stay again.
My husband and I stayed two nights at this Best Western Hotel everything was good and clean but I will never stay at another Best Western as long as I live. We asked for a non smoking room, because my husband is on oxygen at night. So I asked at the desk where could my husband smoke and they told me outside in the back because that is where our room was located. So my husband went outside of the hotel to smoke because I cant be around cigarette smoke it makes me sick. So every time he wanted to smoke he went outside. But I got charge $250.00 over my room charge because they said that there was evidence that we were smoking in the room. I tried to explain that the cigarettes were on the table but no one was smoking in the room. I cleaned the room including the refrigerator because I put some fruit in there. Common sense tells you if you ask for a non smoking room and you clean up except for making the bed, I would not be that stupid to leave a cup with cigarettes in the bathroom. especially since I never used there cups I had my own. I asked them to look at there cameras then they could see he went outside, they said well that doesn't mean that we didn't smoke in the room. I was there because I was visiting my son and I was with them most of the time we only sleep there and had some breakfast then we left for the day. I just cant believe that they said there was evidence of smoking. Therefore I called and discontinued my rewards card and I will never stay there or any other BEST WESTERN HOTEL AGAIN. So Try and have a manager check your room so they can't go and charge your Credit Card without your permission for something that never happened. It took me a long time for my husband to smoke outside of my home and to be accused of something that didn't happen.
We like Best Western hotels. This one was about $30 more than usual. The room was good with a comforable bed and clean bathroom They are dog friendly and there was green spaces for walking the dog. It is convenient to I 90 in New York.
Excellent hotel. Clean. And comfortable. Staff friendly. And rooms. Excellent. Had a great night stay. Will stop here anytime as best western especially this one. Deserves a 10 star!!! Nice rooms with a jacuzzi !! Had a great parking spot for the coach
I chose and stayed at this hotel as it was half way to were I was going. Also I am in BW's rewards pargram, thus basically this was a free night for me. Hopefully that didn't sway the staff for any reason. I arrived fairly late, when I walked in the receptionish immediatley finished her call so she could check me in. She apologized for the pool area being unuseable for renovation but I knew that at the time of the reservation. The room I had was excellent, it was bigger than some top name hotel rooms. The A/C unit was the quietest I have ever heard or didn't hear in any hotel I have stayed in. Check out was just as professional. Simple, direct and easy. Even the cleaning staff asked if everything was fine with my room. I have never had that asked from any hotel. It gave me the impression that they really cared about me and my experience there. My only concern is the layout for the breakfast. Just due to the nature of the building not all breakfast items are in the same area. In fact it is spread over three so it can be a bit akward to get everything.. Again this was actually very minor in the whole scheme of things but just something someone traveling with kids might want to be aware of. Thank you BW Dunkirk for a truely wonderful stay.
The hotel needs some updating, carpeting and a little more detail cleaning. Overall it is a nice place that offers free breakfast, has a small indoor pool. Applebees within walking distance. The room was clean, sink was slow to drain, bed comfortable and free wifi
