Best Western Zaan Inn

I booked this hotel for my birthday and had nothing but a horrible experience as soon as I arrived they asked about a city tax that I was unaware the blonde guy behind the counter wasn't very friendly just kinda thrown my room key at me. Also when I walked into the hotel room I'll leave photos below it was such a disappointment stay and at the end of my stay I requested some type of compensation but I got another email saying I should've complained when I checked in definitely stay clear of this hotel very bad service I've received.

Really nice hotel definitely recommend staff are lovely and welcoming the room was clean I felt very comfortable, the beds are sooo comfy I wanted to bring the mattress home haha , also very close to the central 5 minute train journey, would definitely use this hotel again

Booked for a birthday trip and was ok as far as budget hotels go, however we both left feeling disappointed. I am not one to leave negative reviews, however, feel compelled to on this occasion. The whole corridor was under renovation minus our room (we didn't realise work was being done to every single room on the corridor until the last day). We were woken up to loud banging, equipment and furniture being wheeled down the corridors, loud male voices, painting, machinery, furniture being moved and dragged in the room next to us etc, on one morning as early as 7am. Not great when you're on holiday! We were startled/scared awake by loud banging on more than one occasion and one morning even thought someone was in the room it was that loud which was quite frightening as two young travellers. We had to dodge wet walls throughout the week and when leaving had to clamber over wires and machinery that was in the middle of the corridor with our large suitcases which wasn't ideal/very safe. We had a minor issue where we had run out of toilet roll and our room phone didn't work, however, they did call my mobile shortly after and it was swiftly sorted. Negatives aside, the hotel is in a great location and really easy to get the train to various locations around Amsterdam. There is a couple shops and food places nearby which is handy. The room was clean and towels were changed daily which we appreciated. It's worth mentioning I did let a staff member know about the loud construction noises we experienced in our room when we checked out (just to prevent them putting any one else in there) and she was very friendly and apologised, kind enough to offer us some free sweets to take home with us each. As kind as this was, it wasn't a cheap trip for us and we were hoping for a little more after dealing with this all holiday. We left feeling quite gutted about our poor experience, especially as it was supposed to be for a birthday treat. There were plenty of other guests but we seemed to be the only ones on this corridor and couldn't understand why we were put on this floor if work was planned for the week. Perhaps we just got super unlucky on this occasion.

We booked two rooms, both Spotless. We had a huge family room. And a double room. The family room had extra facilities such as eating area/kitchen area with microwave, crockery ect. The double room was great too. The rooms were Toastie warm during a very chilly feb and perfect location near the train station.

Fabulously clean.friendly staff.Breakfast was ok(need better sausages) personal preference.prices at the bar ok took a while to get served though.The worst was the beds which are awful .The mattresses slide off as you turn .The pillows are hard and uncomfortable.This let the hotel down dramatically.

The area of Zaandam is so lovely...really worth visiting..we spent 3 nights/4 days and the hotel location is perfect as near enough to Amsterdam for sight seeing but far enough out for cost. Positives: staff are amazing, really lovely and helpful. Bed was uber comfortable and despite other reviews we loved the little pillows! Clean and serviced daily Negatives: booked a suite thinking we would have bedroom and sitting area...got a family room with 2 bedrooms and a dining space...maybe our mistake, maybe description not too clear. Largest bedroom, and bed, no window so a bit claustrophobic...husband hated the glass bathroom door as not very private. Restaurant is fine if you want chips with every meal, and a tiny menu...breakfast very average. Furniture and fittings a bit tatty round the edges.....so all ok for a three star hotel...fabulous staff and lovely area

Hotel Stayed here for 3 nights came home today. Nice hotel 3 min walk to train station. Shops near by and Zandaam has restaurants and like a shopping centre too. Decent breakfast could've done with some more hot options but okay. Room was nice and had a free upgrade which was lovely bed was comfortable. Shower door was a little faulty didn't quite close properly. Pillows were uncomfortable though they were very small and hard which was disappointing. Would bring an extension lead and fire stick worked perfectly with a travel adapter. WiFi didn't work on my iPhone but did on my partners Samsung. Remember city tax on arrival ours was like £42 but that's the same for everywhere Pizza robot outside hotel was good £10 and fresh stone baked pizza in minutes. Nice hotel for price much cheaper than central Amsterdam and easy to get to shops and train station. Tips for hotel would be better pillows and some toiletries in room as only hand and shower gel as would've been a nice touch. Zandaam tips Zaandam itself it's quirky and cool lots of shops and feels like you're in a movie. 15 mins into Amsterdam central And 20 minutes to airport Don't buy the 3 day Amsterdam travel ticket when you get off into airport as trains aren't included it's (bus,metro and tram) so we had to pay for trains on top of that and it's £30PP so my advice would be get the train single ticket from airport to Zaandam then look at travel as it's £15 for x2 for day returns from Zandaam to Amsterdam central. We couldn't find a bus to Amsterdam central from Zandaam so relied on the train station but there must be a way of doing it. Would stay in Zandaam again hotel price was decent too. Amsterdam itself is such a cool place can't wait to go back.

The hotel is lovely; nothing too fancy but just what you need for a short stay. Our bed was massive and super comfy, and the location is ideal for travelling to Amsterdam. The staff are friendly and there's a very small shop in reception which was ideal for late night cravings as all the shops shut at 9pm. My only issue was that the housekeeping staff ignored the do not disturb sign on the door basically every morning. Me and my fiancé had some late nights during our stay and we like to sleep in, so we always ensured the sign was on the door from the previous night. However, staff would always knock on and one morning they opened the door to come in before realising we were still in bed. Another morning the housekeeper continually knocked until I opened the door, despite me asking her to come back later. Other than that, everything was lovely!

We stayed here for 3 nights this past week. The staff were Super friendly and yes our room was small but it was clean and all we needed . Apart from the drilling at 7:30 am one morning in a room next to or below us this hotel was great. Breakfast was typical continental breakfast and we had an evening meal which was served with a smile and couldn't fault the food . 15 mins away from the centre by train which is a two minute walk away and there are shops close by too.

Great hotel! Nice and tidy rooms, good breakfast, and lovely staff. Perfect location for an Amsterdam break. 2 minute walk to the train station, and a 10 minute train ride into Amsterdam Central. Worth having a look around Zaandam and Zaanse Schans too! Really nice areas with plenty to see and do.

Really lovely hotel, the 2 bed suites are really spacious, beds were so comfortable, breakfast was really nice, great selection, although I couldnt fault the hotel, not overly keen on the area itself.

Stayed here for 3 nights during my trip to Amsterdam and could not fault it. The staff were always polite and really helpful. The room was just your standard basic hotel room but it was always clean, is decently sized and had everything you could need. The bed was massive and also really comfortable. The location of the hotel is also amazing, just a short walk away from zaandam train station and only a 10 minute ride to Amsterdam central and 20 to the airport.

Fantastic location, two stops on the train into Amsterdam centre. Train station about 3-5 minutes walk. Hotel was clean and adequate for what we needed, friendly knowledgeable staff x Breakfast was good.Great selection of chocolate, sweets drinks etc for sale on reception as well as a 24 hour pizza machine on the corner outside the hotel. Supermarket for everything else less than a 3 minute walk away.

Hotel within easy access of train station, Basic room but has everything you need beds really comfortable only downside is pillows are tiny and you only get 2. Breakfast a selection of meats, cheese, pastries, bread, cereal and fruit pretty basic but nice enough could do with another toaster as it wasn't the best. Staff were all really friendly. BE CAREFUL USING THE LIFT doors close really quick and don't stop until they hit you.

This place was the ideal base for a visit. Zaandam itself is colourful, clean and a real pleasure to walk around. The hotel is a short walk from the entrance of the train station. Take a right, go down the escalators and you're pretty much there in 2 minutes. The staff are very attentive and polite, the rooms are lovely, airy and convenient. We got a little complementary upgrade too which made our first impressions very positive. A great night's sleep, the breakfast was a good amount and again the staff were very willing to help. Even at checkout we left our bags in reception for a few hours to do some last minute sight seeing, they couldn't do enough for us. We'd definitely stay here again. Great value for money, yes a 3 star but I'd give it more. Thankyou for making our stay so comfortable and stress free x

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the train station and it's only two stops to central Amsterdam. We travelled a as a group of 10 late a night it was a little hard to find in the dark but very simple in the day. The hotel was clean and beds comfortable but the breakfast could be improved as not much hot food but plenty of bread /cakes. We were very happy with the hotel our only complaint is that they turned the lights out in the garden on the evening so we couldn't see after 11pm.

The location of the hotel is very good close to the train station so you can get a train to Centraal. The room it's self was rather small and incredibly dark there wasn't a main light you could turn on just lamps. The shower had a mind of its own the water was either boiling or very lukewarm not much of an in between and the warm water from the sink was boiling to the point you probably could of got burnt. The kettle didn't work properly you had to stand next to it and hold the switch while you waited for it to boil. The window was very hard to open as it a bit stiff and the rooms got warm but air con only went to 18c it cold the room slightly but it was still warm. Also the shower door was closed with a towel? And some of the towels were stained. The beds were comfortable my only issues was the pillows weren't pillows but cushions and there was also staining on the mattress this was discovered by accident as the bedsheet had moved while sleeping. We also had noticed crumbs left on the bedside table when we arrived. The walls also had dirty marks on them and some dust in places. We also found a member of staff was rather rude when asking a simple question so we felt like we had to avoid him for the rest of our stay as it felt like he didn't want to be bothered the rest of the staff were lovely and we also couldn't use the telephone to ring reception as it didn't work.

A very good sized, clean room with the biggest bed I've ever stayed in! Just 5 minutes walk from the main Zaandam station and 10 minutes ride into the city, so the location is good. Staff friendly and helpful. I didn't eat in the bar, however €7 for a pint of Heineken was a bit steep! Thankfully there is a local supermarket close buy which is well stocked. I would happily stay there again, the local area is quiet, and the shopping area had a good selection of shops and restaurants, again all in walking distance.

Great base for an Amsterdam city break, 5min walk to the zaandam train station, takes 15mins to Amsterdam city centre. Rail tickets can be bought at the hotel. In the zaandam area the shops tend to shut around 8/9pm. The hotel was spotless, beds made and fresh towels everyday of our stay. Staff are always helpful and accommodating. However the breakfast is limited. Croissants are great!

Stayed here for my husbands 50th recently with our 2 sons. When we were travelling into Zaandam on the train we were reading previous reviews and were a bit worried regarding some of what was being said in them…. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I really couldn't fault it too be honest. Yes it's definitely quirky, but as a 3 star I would say we got value for money. Rooms were spotless and also the restaurant. Believe me when i say I am very picky but I just could find no faults. Staff were all Friendly, clean towels left in room every day. Nice wee vibe to this place. The area of Zaandam Is full quirky buildings and great architecture. Shopping area was really good and some Lovely restaurants to eat out in. We visited The Mail Company for dinner and it was fantastic. Food and staff were great. Amsterdam was only a 10 minute journey on the train for €10 euro first class return which was worth it. Loved Amsterdam city centre visited the Heineken factory and a lovely wee Italian restaurant about 30 Minutes walk from Train station. We all loved the trip, wound definitely come back and would have no hesitation station in the best western Zaan again.

Had a 3 night stay here mid October. Arrived late in the evening and got checked in quickly and efficiently, receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Room was large and clean with microwave, sink, kitchen table and chairs with 2 single beds in kitchen area and large double in bedroom. Large bathroom also clean. Breakfast was really nice both continental and cooked, eat as much as you like. Train station is a few minutes away which is great for travelling into Amsterdam and heading back to the airport. Very pleasant stay, would definitely stay again and would recommend

We wished we had stayed in Amsterdam as we bought a 3 day pass ticket for bus and train 1.5 hours per trip and even though we were on the train for 10 minutes from Amsterdam to zandaam the tickets were not accepted so we had to buy more train tickets each day to get to Amsterdam, we booked with easyjet and were not aware we had to pay a tourist tax on arrival of 40€ and as we were only there 3 days it was alot, also the hotel is basically on a building site and is surrounded by derelict buildings, so do your research and stay in Amsterdam and save yourself alot of money

Ideal hotel with good links to centre and plenty of food options nearby, free parking is a bonus as very expensive in Amsterdam, lady at reception sorted out discount travel cards which you could use on any public transport and took the hassle out of buying tickets everywhere.

A really lovely hotel perfectly situated for visiting Amsterdam. A few minutes walk to the station and 2 stops to Amsterdam Central costs 6.80euro return. The hotel was really clean and rooms are really smart. The blackout curtains are fabulous! There's a fridge, hairdryer, small kettle plus tea/coffee and a safe in the rooms. Only 1/2 negatives- lighting in the rooms isn't great. Not helpful when your trying to get ready! Pillows are like cushions and are quite high. As a ‘1 pillow' sleeper it was too high. In the end I slept on rolled up towels (reception gave me a few extra) and a jumper! Which was perfect. Out of 6 friends, I was the only one that struggled so most people will be fine! We had breakfast in the hotel one morning and there was lots of choice and it was very nice. There are lots of places to eat in Zaandam too and so many shops. Factor in a few hours to wander about as it's so pretty and it has a really nice variety of shops. Most open from 10am but from 12noon on Sundays. There is a supermarket opposite that sells a wide variety of things. Great for getting gifts like chocolates and sweets, cheese etc. Be aware they do not accept Mastercard including Mastercard debit. That was a real pain! I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The staff were really helpful, especially on reception and the location was great. We were actually glad not to be staying in central Amsterdam!

Room was such a let down Holes in carpet bits of carpet patched with gaps Pins in 2 separate locations in room and room was cleaned every day and still there when we left Safe was locked so had to get staff to open it Bathroom door handle was hanging off and wouldn't even close properly

If I could put a 0 I would! This hotel is the worst place I have ever stayed in! When we first arrived the two girls on reception were so rude and unhelpful! Then they messed up our city tax payment, giving us the incorrect change and when questioned wouldn't even sort it. We asked to leave our luggage in a safe room whilst waiting for our room, told we could to find it literally left in the middle of reception and reception was unmanned, meaning anyone could of taken it. The rooms are alright if it was a cheap budget hotel, paper falling off the walls/dirty walls, floors not cleaned properly, electrical sockets not working and mould coming through the roof. But to top all of this off, we went to eat in the restaurant to find mice running around and when notifying the staff we were told very causally that they were aware of this and sorting it!! But still allowing people to eat there, which is so unhygienic! Would never step foot in this hotel again! Such a shame as the area is lovely!

Very pleasant staff, but the hotel was decidedly average. Near to the railway station, but the area surrounding the hotel is scruffy and not very appealing. The breakfast choice was good, but scrambled eggs and beans both cold. Basic stuff. Bar prices were good. Room was adequate but basic. Wouldn't return or recommend.

Good Hotel & Staff in a north east suburb of Amsterdam. Close to the train station from Amsterdam. Also close to a grocery store. Nice wind mills in the neighborhood. The room had a small fridge, microwave.

The place was clean. Sadly the breakfast wasn't great very very basic The beds in the room again very very basic looked like they came from ikea. The staff are helpful as our safe didn't work they gave us the master key so we could use it. This hotel is a 15 minute train ride to Amsterdam central. If I went again I wouldn't stay at this hotel not that's it's a bad hotel it's just to me lower grade from primer inn and travel lodge.

Booked a weekend away here. Arrived at the hotel in the morning check in is 2pm so had to leave our case in reception. Bought the 48 hour rail/ tram ticket from reception and headed out. Came back after 2pm and checked into room. Room was big we were a family of 3, had a large bed in bedroom and 2 singles in kitchen area. Bathroom was large and adequate. We had a drink in the bar and used the pool table. When we were leaving we were not told over the rail strike so we headed to the station to find all trains cancelled, the taxi driver told us the strikes were planned. The hotel reception should have information of this on display or told guests when checking out. Good job we planned our time to go back to airport early as we could have struggled to get there. The location of the hotel is a few minutes walk from station so easy to travel about, Zaandam is a lovely little place we walked into the town square Saturday night to have dinner but found most places were full so would make a reservation.

I loved this hotel. The room was amazing with air con, standing shower and the bed was huge ! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was made every day by house cleaners and given fresh towels every day which was very appreciated. The area is also facinating and I found I didn't want to leave the little green toy town. The hotel is only 3 min walk to station which is a 15 min train journey to Amsterdam central. We also hired bikes for a couple hours at €10 which I thought was a great way to explore the area. I would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone to stay in zaandam to see Amsterdam from a different point rather than just the centre perspective.

Best Western was amazing. We had a fantastic stay here. Rooms were immaculate, comfortable beds, room service was great we had clean towels and bins emptied daily. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly. Close to a supermarket and shops nearby. Train to Amsterdam is only 12 minutes away so easily accessible. Will definitely be back.

Great hotel, excellent customer service. It's close to Amsterdam and other wonderful places and right next to a train station. It is very well priced and the rooms were beautiful. Housekeeping was the best. They went above AND beyond. I would stay here again and I WILL stay here again

Modern clean hotel not far from Zaandam station with all usual facilities and a particularly good breakfast. Interesting architecture; whole area looks like a toy town, including "the Lego House", built on a network of canals and waterways. A couple of stops away from the windmills, including one which works, along with a museum and shops and also the location of a large cocoa plant

The location is well out of Amsterdam which was not clear when we booked . But very clean , friendly and Functional and close to the railway, 15 min by train to centre of Amsterdam. The area it is in is a nice town Zaandam.

My husband, son and I stayed in a family room for 6 nights. The room was very spacious with 2 separate bedrooms, large shower room (off one of the bedrooms), kitchen area with a microwave, keetle and a small drinks fridge. The room was cleaned daily and the towels changed. The reception staff were helpful, the hotel has a restaurant but we didn't use it as the prices were a little high. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of a supermarket, Zaandam town centre which has interesting architecture and a good selection of shops, cafes/restaurants and the train station where you can take trains to the airport or Amsterdam centre for 5 euros per person. We visited Amsterdam, Keukonof Tulip Gardens and Zaans Schaans.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Located next to the train station, trips to Amsterdam are quick and easy. There are also supermarkets near by to buy snacks. The bed was extremely comfortable and both the bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. Our room was tidied each day and towels changed. The food was also really nice, both at breakfast and dinner. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you Best Western Zaan, we hope to return one day!

Just a few minutes from the train station with frequent trains to Amsterdam. Supermarket next door to hotel. Friendly staff who were very helpful. Rooms spacious but outdated. We had a double room as we are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. There was also a kitchenette and good sized shower room. The double bed was huge but the room was a box room with no windows. The room with twin beds had windows. The doors moved when other doors on the floor were closed or shut. So sound insulation was not great.

Staff is very friendly. Rooms are okay. Bed is very nice and large, but maybe a bit too large for the room? One light was broken but they managed to fix it really quick. I think the rooms are a bit too expensive for what you get. Overall the rooms are very clean.

only a few minutes walk from the rail-way station and 20 minutes from the airport. city center at 5 minutes. very friendly staff. rooms are quiet, powerfull shower and free parking. I love coming here, they always give me a "welcome home" feeling.

The location is very convenient. Walking (5 min) distance from the station and also the shopping centers. Tourist information office. You can quickly take a look around the city. You can also rent bicycles. Loved the option with dinner and breakfast. Super convenient in case you arrive late with kids. Overall is very clean and quiet. We loved it.

Spacious rooms, cutleries were present in the room, nice and clean, comfortable bathroom. Corridor was not satisfactory but it does not matter much, not too fancy but was very comfortable for family. Not good views out of the windows, but calm and serene place

We stayed two nights here with our two small children (1 year and 6 year old). We chose this hotel because of the location and the family suite. The room has a door that divides the two bedrooms wich is great when the kids are asleep you can still enjoy watching tv.

Room was extremely spacious. Everything was immaculate, the room was for 3 people and there was two different parts to the room! Everything was perfect and so cheap for what you get. Would recommended

From start to finish the hotel was so welcoming with great staff members,extremely helpful at all times very clean and amazing service,with so many shops close buy and a lovely little town to go shopping would highly reccomend thanks so much

Hotel was clean and quiet. Lovely staff and great location. 2 mins from the train station and a big supermarket just next door. The food that is prepared at the hotel really lets it down, we could not eat it. I'd advise anybody staying here to save your money paying the extra for breakfast and also dont get an evening meal. Eat while your out and go to the supermarket for snacks.

The hotel is in a great location but it's quite tired and needs some updating the restaurant isn't particularly good and quite expensive for what you get breakfast is an experience they don't replenish the food and you have to wait until they are ready to do so, the room was comfortable and clean. Zandaam is very picturesque and peaceful, close enough to get into the centre of Amsterdam 12 minutes by train which runs frequently. Be careful of the trips that are on offer you can get around by train for far less and a lot of attractions have free entry.

Hotel staff nice & friendly, hotel very clean and Amsterdam central only 10 mins away on the metro which is 2 min walk from hotel!! Only thing that let it down was that the rooms were quite cold at night, heating wouldn't work.

Hotel is small, but nice. Can't comment on the food but as an overall short 4 day stay was ok. Personally too far out from Amsterdam central for me. It meant you couldn't stop out past 11 or 12pm unless you wanted to pay crazy taxi fairs!!!!!!! Rooms small, and not a clean toilet but a fair price for a ok stay

After staying in this hotel I will not stay anymore in hotels in central Amsterdam. Zaandam is just 15 minutes away by train, but very quite, with lots of restaurants and shops. This Hotel is very near to the Train Station and supermarkets. It is very clean, comfortable and well priced. Highly recommended.

Hotel is clean, staff were great, rooms are small for north america standards but nice for European standards. Note: If you collect points on the rewards card, you must book directly with Best Western (more expensive) or they will not give you them. Location was near public transit so getting there from the airport and into Amsterdam was easy and quick.

Near station and supermarket. Only 10-15mins to Amsterdam. But need to be wait for 10-15mins for train from Amsterdam to Zaandam station at night after 9:00p.m..The restaurant is closed too early around 5:30 near the hotel. Too difficult to find a dinner after 19:00. Having dinner in Amsterdam is in advance.

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days, during our visit to Amsterdam in September 2019. The staff were friendly and were able to check us in early, which we appreciated. The location is good, as it is situated next to a train station, which will take you about 15 minutes to get to Amsterdam Central. We did not have breakfast here, so cannot speak to that. But there were a number of shortcomings with the room itself. Many of the fixtures did not work – table side lamps, main lamp, hot water kettle. The phone in one of our rooms was not working. We were told by the receptionist that since it's the weekend, it would only be fixed when the technician returns on Monday (which did not happen). Some of the fixtures were attended to, but something or the other was not working. Housekeeping was just about ok, forgetting to replace coffee mugs on one of the days. Accommodation, anywhere in Amsterdam is not cheap. Therefore, the hotel needs to ensure that they have the basics of the room amenities functioning, at a minimum. There have a large grocery store

The Zaan Inn is a modern minimalistic hotel in a central location with compact but comfortable rooms, and free off street parking. The staff are cheery and efficient. Having the train station close by make for an easy trip to the heart of Amsterdam

Hotel is next 3-4 min walking distance to train station. There are a few shops around the station and close by supermarket. Our room was large and clean. They gave us an accessible room without asking which comes with an open shower and high toilet. It gave us some hard time. But I can tell that their accessible room is a good if you need one. Overall it was a good stay, and good value. More info about location: Zaandam is 10-15 min away from downtown Amsterdam by train. You need to be aware that trains are not that frequent like a metro. It is easy to buy tickets with mobile app. We stayed both in city center and in Zaandam. I found city center more convenient, fun and walk friendly and Zaandam more cost effective.

We did a Baltic cruise and decided to stay 4 days after to tour Amsterdam. The hotel was great right on the train line. It was just a 10 min ride to Amsterdam central. The breakfast was very good. Room and amenities great We did have dinner in the dining room on our last night and it was also very good. Staff was very helpful I helping navigate us around. We were charged for one extra breakfast brought it to the attention of the front desk staff and they removed it without a problem.

The hotel is about 7 mins walk from the nearest train station and is located in the lovely Zaandam area to escape the touristy areas. We love that there is a big supermarket that is only 5 mins away and it near to the shopping area that takes about 10mins to walk there. The bed is comfortable and heater system is good. Overall a positive experience and would recommend one to stay there.

Great location for visiting Amsterdam and surrounding area. Friendly staff, good value for money. Room very clean, didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on that. Shops and cafes nearby, 5 minutes from train station with 15 minute journey into Amsterdam centre.

We spent three nights in a family suite here. The room was clean and well appointed with enough amenities for everyone. Front desk staff were professional and polite, helpful with any questions we had to get us started. Very convenient that they sell the Amsterdam and Region Travel card. We found the area quiet and walkable to the Zaandam station, and a quick 12-15 minutes to Amsterdam Centraal. Being close to the station made our day trip to Rotterdam manageable. The nearby high street is nice with many shops and casual restaurants, but take note that most close by 6-7 PM. We would stay here again if we were visiting Amsterdam and surrounding area.

Really nothing glaringly positive nor negative with the place. Check in was easy, the room clean, a small but adequate breakfast spread, close to the train station and a host of Zaandam restaurants. We would stay here again, as the value for the price paid was good.

Conveniently located next to the Zaandam train station, this is a good choice for those who want to get more for their money in and around Amsterdam. Centraal Station is only 13 minutes away with regular train service (5-6 Euros). (Don't rent a car to get to A'dam!) There is a fridge in the room, which means that you can stock up on supplies at the nearby Deen store. I rented an e-bike from the hotel, which was a great way to explore the surrounding countryside all the way to the dunes. The walls are thin, but there wasn't too much noise at night.

I booked this hotel several months in advance for myself, husband, and son. When we arrived to check in, we were informed that they did not know that our son would be in the room with us, that the room we had reserved was only for 2, and we'd have to stay in a family suite, which costs more. We were exhausted after traveling, so we took the room, but did some research to find that we could have booked the family suite online for those 2 nights and would have paid the same as the king room we had originally booked. We went downstairs to talk to the front desk about it. When discussing the charges, it turns out that they had double-charged us for some fee or another by 35 Euros. We were promised a refund (which we did receive). However, we still ended up paying more than the king room we had originally booked, and more than we would have paid if we had reserved the family suite online. Anyway, we stayed. We were there for 2 nights and quite frankly, they were horrible. This is the 2nd worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff is quite rude. The hotel itself is cheaply built. There are cracks in walls everywhere, scuff marks, and general wear and tear that makes it look like a sad and sorry place. The lighting is terrible in the hallways and rooms. The beds are horribly uncomfortable. We had a lot of trouble sleeping here. The walls are thin. The showers don't drain very well. The room was not very clean. And, the wi-fi is extremely slow. You'll likely pay less to stay here or elsewhere in Zaandam than you would in Amsterdam, but it's really not the nicest place. It's sort of a bland town that they've tried to perk up with a few quirky buildings and a shopping/dining area that didn't have much of interest. After our extremely disappointing and frustrating stay, I completed a survey sent by Best Western and received a prompt response with an additional refund of 35 Euros. That is the only reason my rating is two stars instead of one. And, you may have read all this and believe that the situation may have been my fault for booking the wrong room type, but it turns out that it's a failure in the hotel's web site. You see, I went to the hotel's Netherlands-based web site to book the room, because when you search for the hotel, it states you get a 5% discount for booking directly through them. I entered my dates and the fact that we were 2 adults and 1 child, and guess what?! You are redirected to the Best Western site and every room type the hotel has shows up as a choice. Even though they claim that we made the mistake and booked the wrong room. I entered the correct number of adults and children, and was given the option of a king room, which was cheaper than the suite, and of course I took it because the 3 of us don't need a big suite. And, just to be sure, I had even noted on my reservation that we needed a sofa bed set up for our son. When we checked in, the front desk claimed they couldn't see our note, and said we were at fault for booking the wrong room and had to pay for a suite. Anyway, the whole experience was a real headache for us. We wasted a good hour trying to sort this out with the front desk when we should have been at Zaanse Schans. In conclusion, do yourself a favor and don't stay here. I wouldn't even bother staying in Zaandam, but at the very least, don't waste your hard-earned money on this lousy hotel. You can do better!

* Bathroom shower drain did not work in both two suites. The first one we were placed into the plumbing clogged and water did not drain. The second suite the staff moved us into also had the same problem although water drain very slowly. Both bathrooms had problem with bad sewer smell coming from clogged drain. * WiFi speed is very slow and never improved regardless. Even though our phone connected to the WiFi we could not download email or anything. Bad internet connection. * Closing bill for Tax did not explain how we already paid €24 via online booking. We had to pay again for more taxes. * Both suites have very bad lighting. Rooms are dark and some lights flickered. * Wall looks dirty and scuffed in both suites we were placed into. The only positive thing is the location is very close to Zaandam train station, near by grocery and shopping area, and the restaurant offered good dinner selections. The soups were good. The restaurant, however, stopped making dinner at 9 PM.

Good, comfortable hotel in Zaandam, conveniently about 12 minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal and a short walk from Zaandam station. Very accessible from Schiphol Airport via Amsterdam Sloterdijk with direct trains (about 19 minutes). Good rooms with good facilities (it is a 3 star hotel), comfortable beds (except for the small pillows!) and good showers. Very quiet with no noise from outside despite being near the railway. Efficient air conditioning when required. We stayed for 6 nights and used a 3 day Amsterdam and Region Travel ticket for journeys into Amsterdam, which covered the train to and from Amsterdam and all trams, buses etc in the Amsterdam Region. We also used a 1 day Region card for bus travel to Edam (Lovely!) and Volendam via train to Amsterdam Centraal. The hotel is a short walk to the station and on into Zaandam centre where there are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants. There is a supermarket 3 minutes away towards the station. The hotel reception was friendly, quick and efficient both for check in and out and the hotel has a good restaurant (the 22 Kitchen and Bar) which served very good breakfasts (not continental) with good choice of continually replenished hot and cold food including bacon, scrambled and boiled eggs, juices, cereals, fruit etc. We also had dinner twice in the restaurant with really very good meals from the specials board with pleasant service, especially from hotel trainee Yasmina. Zaandam itself is a pleasant town with a number of good restaurants [Piri Piri (Portuguese) and Kyra's Taverna recommended], shops, canals and history including Czar Peter's House. Also a short train ride to Zaandijk and Zaanse Schans with windmills, craft workshops, museums, well worth a visit for time out of Amsterdam. The Zann Inn is recommended and we would stay there again when visiting Amsterdam and region.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at The Best Western Zaan Inn. Located in a quiet but uninteresting location just a 4 minute walk from the train station. A lot of development work is occurring within the area of the hotel including the train station. Welcoming receptionist who processed our room reservation quickly. I am a BW Diamond member and upgrade offered was a bar of chocolate and a bottle of water lol. The room was fairly standard (103) with a comfortable and large bed with views over the main car park. Both room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was 14.50euros / person and was nothing special, slightly more choice than a normal continental breakfast but not worth the money. Bar service was good, efficient, reasonably priced and the staff especially the trainee were very welcoming. 5 out of 5. Train from Zaandam to Amsterdam Central takes 12 minutes and costs 13.20 euros return for 2 which is excellent value. Zaandam has a number of restaurants and bars within a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel offering a varied range of cuisine including Greek, Syrian, Italian, Steakhouse and typical Dutch. We were advised that there was a tourist tax to pay which amounted to 42 euros for the 3 nights. An unwelcome surprise. Best Western should advise you of the tourist tax costs imposed by the Dutch government prior to booking.

I booked this Best Western Hotel versus the one in the middle of Amsterdam after reading positive reviews about how quiet it is in Zaandam, as opposed to hotels in the city. It is wonderfully silent at night. My photo ( taken from 4th Floor room) shows how convenient the hotel is to the train station which is on the left in front of the green buildings, a 5 minute walk. Then it's only 15 minutes to Amsterdam Central. There is a supermarket at the other end of the parking lot, plus a bar and restaurant on site. The staff is helpful and nice, linens good and soft with comforters, and spotlessly clean bathroom. Also the Zaandam area has many interesting attractions celebrating Dutch heritage, and is known as ‘The Real Holland'.

Stayed here for a weekend to celebrate my birthday and visit Amsterdam. The location is perfect - five minute walk to the train station and then either three stops to Schiphol or two into Amsterdam Centraal. There is a good range of shops near to the hotel in the centre of Zaandam and some bakeries to have breakfast if you choose not to eat in the hotel. We booked a suite at the hotel which had a big kitchen/living room as well as a generous-sized bedroom and shower room. The staff at the hotel were incredibly helpful and printed off suggested routes to Keukenhof for us and our boarding passes when it was time to leave. They also decorated our room to mark my birthday which was a nice touch. Only minor point was that the duvet on the bed was fairly thin and one of the pillows was lumpy but other than that the hotel was clean and fairly well kept. Would recommend for those willing to stay outside of the centre of Amsterdam and pay a bit less for better accommodation. A good weekend overall. One tip though - do allow plenty of time to visit Keukenhof in peak season. It took us nearly an hour to get on a bus from Schiphol and the traffic was terrible!

We booked two rooms. It's just like a two bedroom apartment with microwave and some kitchenette. Our family can stay together and share our story during the stay. House keeping is at high quality. The person keeps the room clean and tidy. Reception staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside that I don't like is the pillow that is too small. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to Zaandam train station. There is a big supermarket between the hotel and the train station. You can get anything to eat or anything that you forgot between 7 am to 9 pm. The hotel also sells some drink and some snacks 24x7. I didn't try the hotel restaurant.

I'm sitting in my room at this hotel, unbelievably happy as 2 hours ago , in this very room, I got engaged.. Checked in early with some really good reception staff, helpful and friendly. Came back from a walk to celebrate with a drink in the bar.. And it's all down hill. The girl behind the bar is unsmiling, lacking in knowledge.. Doesnt know what ale is and doesn't know what cider is. Her attitude is that of some one who would rather be some where else. We took a couple of wine glasses, bought a very expensive small bottle of prosecco at reception and went to take it to our room... Miss miserable literally cut us off at the lift like she had stalked us. You can't take those she said snatching them from us.. We went to reception and were given 2 plastic cups... We then went back to the lift where she peered out at us, clearly pointing us out to another staff member.. Apparently you can't take glasses to the room.. However there are ways of talking to people... But it's OK for us to have a meal in the hotel restaurant tonight where there is no ceiling and dust can drop down... I'm too happy to let this upset me but the food and beverage staff are lacking social skills

Pros The hotel is 5 minutes from the train station, which is convenient. Takes a little less than 15 minutes to get to Amsterdam from Zaandam train station. The hotel is pretty new and most important it is very clean. The staff is friendly and professional. Cons The bed is too soft. It affected me since I have back pain. Our room is above the kitchen and we smelled food when the air condition was turned on. Luckily it was winter so we kept the AC off. We didn't complain about these issues during our stay. Didn't want to make a big deal about it since nothing can be done except maybe change our room which we didn't want to do. Figured it wouldn't help with the bed situation so didn't bother. With that said I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again because of the soft beds.

This is nice and calm hotel, easy access to the train station just a couple of foot steps away. It is also close to the Zaandam centrum shopping area. The parking is free at this property which is a savior. We just made use of the trains to go to Amsterdam central which was just one stop away. The room was neat and tidy and room service was good as well. The staff were all very friendly and were in the holiday spirit which we also felt. Probably not a hotel for family just because it's not spacious and doesn't have a lot of activities for kids but I'd definitely stop over again if I made a trip with my spouse or friends. We haven't tried their food so I wouldn't be able to rate that. Otherwise I'd say it's very good and would recommend it.

Great hotel with easy check in, on site bar/restaurant. Staff is friendly and speaks English, German and of course Dutch. Rooms are spacious with a really nice bathroom. We stayed in room 118 which has a nice view. This hotel is miles from city center so Uber was a must. Around €22 each way to and from city center. It's also in a very industrial looking area surrounded with what looks like other hotels and some apartments.

We opted to stay here rather than Amsterdam as it was recommended to us as a good option away from the hustle bustle of the city. The hotel is around 15mins (direct) from the airport and 10-15mins from Amsterdam (direct). We bought a 3 day regional travel card which we used to get into Amsterdam. It also covers trams, buses and metros in Amsterdam and the Amsterdam area. We were able to get out as far as Volendam on this pass so if you like to explore the pass is great and the hotel is in a great location for this. We received a friendly welcome and the room was excellent. We had a suite room which consisted of twin beds, kitchenette and dining table in one room, a second king-size bedroom and bathroom. The area was quiet and was only a 5 minute walk into Zaandam centre and there was a supermarket opposite so we were able to have a few supplies in. There was a fridge in the room also which was a real bonus! The hotel was in great condition and the rooms were clean. Our bags were kept for us after checkout as we had a late flight. Will definitely stay here again on another visit to Amsterdam and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay outside the city area.

Husband and I stayed here for a few nights before our cruise. Mayke at the front desk was very hospitable and friendly and helpful. Grocery is nearby for snacks, and the bar/restaurant on the first floor is quite good. Room was clean and spacious, and beds comfortable. Within walking distance of the train station for a quick ride into Amsterdam and back. Reasonable rates, excellent staff, convenient...highly recommend if you want to avoid the Amsterdam prices and noise.

Visited the hotel with a group of participants of the Marine Award Gala. We gathered in the hotel and checked-in for the night. We could park our cars free of charge direct next to the hotel. After we came back from the Gala around 23.00 the bar closed although we were with a group of 40 people and the staff was informed. So there was nothing else to do than head for our rooms. My bed was a bit to soft for a good rest. For the rest the room was clean and well equipped. The free WiFi was good. The next morning we enjoyed a good breakfast.

This BW Zaan Inn is located very close to the Zaandam station (10 mins walk), in a very nice community. The rooms are modern, clean and quite spacious, with an efficient kitchenette. It is a bit funny that the washroom door is a sliding (see-through) glass door. Please note that the Amsterdam Cards do not cover this train stop, so you will need to buy train tickets separately (about 2.5 Euro each way).

Excellent location close to Zaandam station-good train links to Amsterdam Central, Schipol airport and Zaan Schans. Staff very freindly and helpful. Room was comfortable -apart from the pillows. Could store luggage for free. Would definitely stay here again.

Zaandam is just minutes from Amsterdam Centraal Station by rail and has very good connections to the North and West. This hotel is very convenient for both the railway and bus stations. The staff are very helpful and the food is very good. The room was comfortable but the furniture was sparse and worn. There were, however, some signs that an update is in progress.

The Zaandam station is about 25 minutes by train from the airport and 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central. The hotel is an5 minutes walk from the station. Hence it's central enough but away from the city hence in a nice quite neighborhood. The check in is efficient ( albeit early check in and late check out may be tough to get ) , the rooms are sufficient in terms of size and very clean. Nice little coffee shop on t ground floor

Everything was great. Location, ambiance, hotel rooms, helpful stuff, absolutely comfortable bed and pillows, size and temperature in the room. Walking distance to the lovely center, free parking, excellent breakfast.

Although not in the centre of Amsterdam, ideally situated very near to the train station and only 15 minutes to the centre of Amsterdam. Excellent facilities, modern and welcoming. Near to Zaanse Schans, with its fabulous windmills, a must to see.

We stayed three nights and found the hotel plain but comfortable and clean with friendly, professional and very helpful,staff. Rooms aren't huge but beds are very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet despite being busy. Breakfast good value and staff went out of their way to help even visiting the bar to get lemon for my morning tea. Very close to train station.

This was the perfect location, 5 min walk to the train with a grocery store on the way. The staff were very helpful and upgraded our room because of our status so we had plenty of room. It was so nice having a restaurant and bar there along with bike rentals. Great location away from the city.

We stayed in a family suite - two bed rooms with a kitchen area, the rooms where very clean and had plenty of space, it was very hot during our stay and the air-conditioning wasn't working, when we asked about it, we were told it was broken and we where given a fan within half an hour.. which was great! found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel is great .. a short walk into Zaandam and there was a really good supermarket 2 mins walk away, I would recommend staying here.. We had breakfast one morning and it was very nice.

It's location to the train station and ample parking is the benefit of staying here. Not much else stands out. The room was very basic but clean and the staff were ok and didn't go out there way to make you feel welcome.

The hotel is located close to Zaandam train station (5 minute walk), which will take you to Amsterdam central station in 15 minutes. Hence this is a convenient option to avoid small rooms for the same price inside the city. Zaandam Town hall area, which has the train and bus station is a beautiful area, and was perfect to stay in. Zaanse Schans is a short train ride away. The hotel's rooms are spacious, we had 2 bedrooms for 3 of us (1 bedroom did not have a window). The amenities were good; however the hotel staff weren't friendly. We had a problem with poor wifi connection, and they took almost 2 days to work on that. Finally, they rudely told us there was a problem with our device, when we had spent the previous night trying to check in online on their desktop computer.

Stayed for 2 nights- good clean place with friendly staff. Air conditioning and fridge not working well during this heatwave which was a bit of an inconvenience. Overall,?however, would stay there again.

I am used to very high standart Hotels in the segement of 4-5 stars due my job i have to. This isnt a 5 Star Hotel but it got all it needs. It was clean, the entire staff was nice and the loaction is very close to the train station!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July and throughly loved the hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy with a refrigerator as well as having a TV with a couple of English Channels. The staff are very kind and helpful with a lovely bar/restaurant downstairs. It is a few minutes' walk from the buses and trains and ideal to get into Amsterdam Central. It's also ideal to get to other places like Zaanse Schans which is quite delightful - lots of windmills! There is an amazing shopping area nearby as well as an array of bars and restaurants. If I had a gripe regarding this hotel it is the price of breakfast at €13:50 (Normally €10:00) if you don't book it when you check in. I find that a little over the top but it wouldn't hinder me from staying again. All in all, a lovely hotel in a great location and we look forward to coming back. I stayed here June 2018. The hotel is clean and comfortable and is located within walking distance to a train station, supermarket and little town center. Amsterdam central isn't far by train and only takes 12 mins and its about 24mins to get to the windmills in Zaans Schans. The breakfast at the hotel was pricey so ate elsewhere. I would point out that the last train from Amsterdam central to this station is at about 11.42pm, which meant we always had to be mindful of the time as it would cost 50 euros to get a cab.

My family of four stayed here July 25&26th. After a very long flight, our first day at the hotel enabled us to have a more relaxing day at Zaanse Schans- a charming, windmill hamblet. That evening we went into Zaandam, to the restaurant square and had a great, inexpensive meal. The next day, we took the train into Amsterdam and enjoyed the day. After a very hot 12 hours touring around Amsterdam, it was nice to escape the heat and bustle of the city. This looks to be an up and coming neighbor, There is a supermarket right next to the hotel and the train/bus station is a 3 minute walk. I would highly recommend this location and hotel. Very clean and spacious for family of four, with micro, small fridge, air conditioning and lots of room.

Myself and my partner have just returned from Amsterdam after a shhort break. It was our first visit to Amsterdam which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel due to the convenient location and quietness. It is a 5 minute walk from Zaandam train station, at top of stairs from platform turn right, down some stairs and walk straight ahead. You can either walk through the supermarket or go around this. The hotel is located behind this. The buffet breakfast is ideal, plenty to eat and should fill you up until evening. It opens from 6.30am to 10.30pm which suits the early to late risers. The Rooms provide hot drink facilities and toiletries shower gel, shampoo and tissues

Located next to a supermarket and just 5 minutes away from the train station. However, this hotel is not located in Amsterdam, but in Zaandam. Also, it can be difficult to find food at night in this area.

We had a suite for our group of four. Two separate aleeping rooms, along with a table and chairs and kitchenette. Two bathrooms would have been better, but we managed. The downside of this suite was the second ‘bedroom' did not have its own ventilation system. So when the door between rooms was closed, that room became extremely hot. Definitely a design flaw. This hotel is a five minute walk feom the Zaandam train station, 15 min from Amsterdam Centralle. Right next to a grocery store for snacks and beverages. If you are visiting Amsterdam and want to save on a hotel, the Best Western is away from the hustle of the city and inexpensive.

Stayed for 3 nights weekend of 16/17 June and everything regarding to the hotel was amazing. The location is perfect with the station no more than 5 minute walk away with regular trains into Amsterdam as well as being able to visit other places and the airport is 25 minutes away. The hotel staff were great with the girl on the reception a real star and a real credit to the company ,so helpful and so informative ,we have sent an E-Mail to the hotel personally thanking the young lady for all her help. Rooms were clean and tidy and just what we needed after a day in Amsterdam. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of visiting Amsterdam and 15 mins walk the other direction from the hotel through the station there is a fab square with bars and restaurants as well as a lovely spacious shopping centre, all in all a perfect stay.

I stayed in a Best Western in August 2017 and did not have the best of times. After making a valid complaint, which was acknowledged. The management of Best Western extended to me another visit to their chain. This time I stayed in the Zaan Inn. The courtesy and hospitality that was extended to me and my guests was above par. The friendliness of the staff is also very endearing. The rooms are clean, quirky and most of all comfortable. The location is perfect if you want to access Amsterdam central in under 15 mins via trainz. The local area also has a bustling entertainment and shopping district on the other side of the train station. Moving forward I would definitely stay in this location again as it offered the best of both worlds in terms of location (tranquility and closeness to the city centre) and comfort and price of the hotel. Had booked a 3 night stay. Hotel is a short 12-15 mins ride away from the hustle and bustle of a busy city - Amsterdam. Provides for a perfect base from which Amsterdam can be explored. Rooms are adequately sized considering a budget hotel in Netherlands. Breakfast was amazing with limited wonderful choices and an ever happy cheerful staff. They ensured the morning for off to a good start..Housekeeping is good, was pleased to find room in perfect shape every evening we returned back to our room. Hotel is located very close to a supermarket which is convenient for buying necessities like water and stuff. All in all....a total value for money....will surely stay the next time we visit Amsterdam.

My 6 years old daughter love this hotel very much. Never regret to choose a Family Suite after we've done a price comparison and found that it's not much different between all room types. We are 2 adults with a kid to stayed in this modern, spacious and cleanliness Family Suite. It included a living hall with sofa double bed, a kitchen with microwave, partial kitchen stuffs (can request from the reception), a big washroom and a bedroom with a comfortable twin beds. From Zaandam Station, 5 mins walking on right side is a big supermarket and an outdoor car park before you can reach the hotel. On left side, you can see many amazing architecture buildings and the shopping area of Zaandam City Center. We chose this hotel not only the price reasonable but it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the Amsterdam City. By direct train, it's take 17mins to Airport and 15mins to Amsterdam Centraal Station. But, this two routes are excluded from I Amsterdam Card if you have this card. You need to purchase the day return ticket from the ticket machine or ticket counter, or purchase the Amsterdam and Regional Travel tickets. We were so lucky that we save more money on our transportation after advised by the friendly and knowledgeable hotel reception staff. Really appreciated the service rendered to us. Overall, we have a pleasant stay with this hotel and definitely would highly recommended to everyone.

This hotel was easy to get to by car and has a train station next door to whisk you to downtown Amsterdam. Free parking, groceries and booze a minute away, good breakfast deal. Clean and comfy. Do the walk to the other side of the train station across the tracks, there is a fabulous two level dining and shopping district right there.

Was so easy to get into Amsterdam from here. The train station was less than a 5 minute walk, and was only too stops away. Getting to the airport was really easy too. The travel cards make it easy and cheap as it covers trams too.

The front staff are nice (not overly, but nice enough) and they have a cool little restaurant. Actually, I found the restaurant staff (bussing tables, serving food) to be very nice and helpful. Specifically because I couldn't work the cappuccino machine :) It's also awesome that this hotel is 3 blocks from the subway, and 1 Block from a grocery store. The hotel is very clean and seems somewhat modernized. My only hotel complaint is that the bed was 2 twins instead of 1 queen.

If like us you visited AMS by car, then wod highly recommend this hotel with it's free parking and short train ride to AMS Central Stn. Day ticket for train costs around 6 euro, so excellent value. Hotel buffet breakfast definitely worth 10 euros especially as there are no other cafes nearby, unless you prefer waiting until arrival in Central AMS. Highly recommended for couples, families or businessmen/women.

Good location (18 mins to Amsterdam Central via train - get the train pass if you plan to go around & out of Amsterdam ) , friendly staff , near grocery and transport ... quiet area ..stay here if you plan to see the windmills at Zaansche Schans

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. We found the staff to be super nice and helpful. The room we had didn't feel as clean as some other hotels we stayed in, for example there were stains on the curtains, the inside of the door to the room had marks on it from being wiped down and the thin rug that was mainly under the bed didn't add to the impression of cleanliness, I would have been happier with just the wood floors. There was very little light in the bathroom and the shower door felt like it was going to come off any time. The location is good for taking the train or bus or just shopping in Zaandam. It was also quiet and the breakfast was good. Overall I would give this hotel a 3.5 but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt because of the great staff and that's why I give it a 4.

I and my group of 10 people stayed 3 nights in Zaandam, Best Western Zaan Inn for your 4 days trip in Netherlands. If you prefer a quiet place with convenient location , walking distance from rail station, with the supermarket nearby, this hotel also good choice. Our trip is on late April which is peak period to visit Amsterdam, all hotel prices have been up. Our plan is not really in the Amsterdam downtown , so hotel in Zaandam is another good choice ; we visited Zaan Schans, Keukenhof (Lisse) and one day in Sassenheim district to see the flower parade (Bloemencorso). The family suit room is comfortable, it's for 4 persons, with kitchen sink, microwave, etc and big dining table. But, to note that there's only 1 bathroom. Facilities inside the room is fine, there's enough space to unpack the 4 luggage in the room. We use Amsterdam Red Card (33 Euro for 3 days), this card covers traveling to Zaan dam by train. So i don't have issue of staying away from Amsterdam city area.

Check-in was very easy, room was already ready upon arrival. Pleasantly surprised to see room get upgraded to a family room/suite for a solo traveller. Huge and spacious living/kitchen area with separate bedroom/bath area. Great location with supermarket a few minutes away, train station just a few more minutes further. Lots to see around Zaandam in walking distance from the hotel including nice shopping area/street. Highly recommended.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in a room with two single beds as requested. The room was spacious and comfortable and it was fully equipped as indicated on the booking - daily cleaning was done and toiletries provided too. The staff is really friendly and helpful for any needs and/or requests you may have. They have also given me loads of advice for sightseeing and best transport choice. Breakfast is great value for money, with a buffet that has both sweet and savoury options. It is served in the bar/restaurant area, which is very nice also for evening meals. The hotel is literally 2 minutes away from the train station, yet no noise from trains are perceived from the rooms. There's a supermarket nearby so it makes it very convenient for this reason too. If travelling with public transport, this hotel is in a very strategic point, as it is 2 train stops away from Amsterdam and it is very well connected to other areas of Holland. For travellers with a car, the hotel has also its own parking space. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for travellers that want to explore Amsterdam and surrounding areas.

Great location ..easy to get to from Amsterdam Central ..just 3 stops .Lovely room with a sitting and kitchen area.The Hotel has parking if required but the station is less then a 2 minute walk and also into the centre of Zaandam.Opposite the Hotel is a supermarket too.So glad we stayed here out of all the noise of Amsterdam

Located very close to the trainstation it takes you 18minutes to go to the airport. Plenty of restaurants can be found in a 10-15 minute walk.

Zaandam is such a pretty area, and this hotel is so conveniently located - a short walk from the train, and an even shorter walk to a grocery store! Just beyond the train are restaurants, a movie theater and even a casino. It's a great spot! If Amsterdam is your destination, it's roughly 20 mins on the train (consider multi-day passes if planning many commutes back and forth). We stayed in a king suite which was very spacious - it had a kitchenette and dining table, two twin beds, and a separate bedroom with king bed and large bathroom. Very nice, very clean. The one drawback are sliding doors to the bedroom and the transparent one on the bathroom, and especially since the rattled sometimes during the night with any movement. The walk-in shower is also a pain - the water tends to leak on the floor. The hotel has a bar and restaurant if dining in. Also, a small playground at the backend. Note: they don't provide conditioner in the bathroom, should that be something you use (at least the supermarket is next door).

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. On arrival I was welcomed by a very friendly gentlemen who's name Began with G.. all staff are accommodating, I arrived with flowers and with no hesitation I was offered a vase. As well as a a map with coupons attached for discount into places such as Ice. I had room 414 which was a twin. Very clean and more than enough space. Only complaint is the fridge is boxed in and generated heat from the plugs directly above therefore it's not very cold. Aside from this room was great adequate towels etc. A conditioner would be great! Hotel is a 3 min walk from the station which takes you to the airport and to Amsterdam central within 10/15mins Surrounding areas is lovely lots of high street shops like H&M and primark. There is also i big supermarket opposite the hotel which sells everything. Amazing cheese bakes from bakery 75cent great for a cheap breakfast. Great hotel great staff and great location will be back next month!

Very happy with out 3 night stay. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast is very good. Staff are helpful but one member of staff shone out above all and she was called inge. Lovely girl always smiling and happy and made our stay that bit better with her great personality. Look forward to our next stay. If you are going to use the rail network buy tickets from the hotel. I bought a 3 day rail ticket which are the blue tickets which dont cover zaandam. They sell the red tickets at the hotel which do cover and you can use the trams and buses with them to which great. Hope this helps others.??

We stayed here recently with family and two of the guests were Wheelchair bound, it was very easily accessible with a driveway right outside the door too. The staff were so nice, very efficient and willing to help with any queries. The Wheelchair Accessible Room was absolutely amazing, with lots of space to get around and a lovely seating area. The rooms were comfortable and warm with nice natural light from the big windows. Value for money was brilliant as the Hotel is very close to Zaandam Train Station and gets you into central Amsterdam in 10 minutes. Close to shops, bars and restaurants give it the perfect location for a stay.

Right near the station so easy to get to Amsterdam, clean rooms and nice staff. Breakfast was a little disappointing but it did the job. Getting an uber back cost about 30 euros so not bad if you miss the last train home. A good place to stay if you want to avoid the expensive city centre hotels.

During 2016-2017 I have stayed many times in Best Western Zaan Inn. Checking-in was easy and the staff was always friendly and smiling. Also throughout the stays they were willing to help or just being social at any time. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Especially since they renewed mattresses I was sleeping like a child. Unfortunately there was no room with a bath, something I was missing. The location is good, 4 minute walk to the train station which brings you within 10 minutes to Amsterdam. The dinner in the hotel was okay, nothing special and an average price/quality. All in all an hotel I can definitely recommend for a pleasant stay!

The Zaandam Inn Hotel is a very pleasant hotel in 'vintage' style. The rooms are clean and basic but there's nothing missing. Breakfast is perfect in a vintage restaurant. The hotel is located near the train station and ik takes a 5 minute walk. It takes about 15 minutes to travel to Amsterdam Central Train Station. The Zaandam Inn Hotel offers good value for money.

I stayed for one night at Best Western Zaan Inn with my wife. We had a small but comfortable room with all amenities and a big window so there was plenty of whatever light the cloudy exterior provided. One downside of the room however was that the bathroom had a sliding door without a latch so there was always some amount of air gap which means that somebody sleeping in the room would quite easily be disturbed from the sounds. Breakfast had lot of options and quality of food was top notch. Note: we used a gift voucher for our stay so I cannot comment on the prices. What I did read was that breakfast costs Eur 13.50 which to me is quite high. Since my stay included breakfast I didn't have to pay separately.

This may only be a three star hotel but it was much more comfortable than the four star Intel hotel in Zaandam that we stayed in two years ago. We were given a warm welcome at reception by a very helpful and efficient young man, he offered us hot courgette soup as a welcome drink and offered to help with any ideas for places to visit. The room was fairly basic but had everything we needed, including toiletries, t.v and a fridge. Single beds were large and very comfortable. Heen supermarket over the square was very well stocked; the train into Amsterdam took 14 minutes and was six euros each return. Apart from the storm on the Thursday which closed the railway, a very enjoyable stay!

Stayed here for a week while exploring the rest of the Netherlands for the first time. Very close to the train station, which made getting around easy. It's only a few minute's train ride to Amsterdam Centraal station.

We were booked in on the 10/12/17.we booked this with groupon.as you know we were not able to make it as the airline cancelled the flight due to snow.we e-maoled hotel to let them know we couldnt make it.as it was not our own fault they would not let us 're book.so we lost out on a 2 night stay.

We had a pleasant stay in Best Western Zaandam. The location of the hotel is next to the train station, only 12 train minutes from Amsterdam Central Station. This makes the hotel a good option if you want to stay in Amsterdam and want to avoid the tourist hotels in the city.

The hotel, the rooms and the facilities are somewhat dated. The rooms are not very well cleaned; I won't chock you with details. The hotel is run by mostly young employees who have not fully mastered the concept of hospitality. Parking the car costs 12.50 euro per night. Comparing to previous visits when they are free of charge and with the knowledge that the parking lots by hotel and surrounding are almost empty, I found this expensive. Hé, this is a village, not Amsterdam! Conclusion: Not bad, certenly not special !! Breakfast is good/standard/simple.

Me and my friend stayed here for 4 nights for a long weekend away. Lovely hotel, very cosy, clean, friendly staff, couldn't of booked a nicer hotel! Located round the corner from zaandam station, plenty of trains back and from zaandam and Amsterdam central. One stop into Amsterdam central and the hotel is right next to a huge supermarket called ‘Deen' which is perfect if your wanting to save a little money. We bought plenty of food there and stored it in our fridge in our room! Would highly recommend to anyone who doesn't want to stay in central but wants a hotel easier to get back and forth from! Very nice modern hotel, easy to get to from the airport and easy access into Amsterdam city via train. I bought an Amsterdam and regions travel card for €33 for 3 days which gave unlimited use of trains, trams and buses. Zaandam has a few nice restaurants and bars and there is a good supermarket next door to the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again, the only problem for us was the wet, snowy, arctic weather meant we got very cold during the day and it was a long way back to change clothes for the evening. But for the price compared to the city hotels, I was more than happy to spend 10 mins on a train!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It is well positioned for Amsterdam short walk to train station 2 stops and you are in the city. The staff were very friendly booking in was quick, the room was a good size clean and had everything you need lovely shower, could do with bigger towels for the shower not very big, the beds were comfortable but to soft for me but that's my preference. The breakfast was very good but did find the hot choice was not very warm. This was booked through Groupon but mistake but would be top of my list to stay when we return to Amsterdam.

We stayed at zaan inn for 2 nights in October, at first i was worried about being outside of Amsterdam centre but the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station which was no bother atall especially when trains are every 10 minutes and always on time. The reception staff very friendly and helpful when asking about where to go in Amsterdam ,rooms clean beds very comfy and shower great! We also had a walk around Zaandam at night and went for dinner, was lovely very quiet but nice if you dont fancy the busy city centre! Would return and recommend hotel for its location if you dont want to be in the heart of Amsterdam

This quiet, modern hotel was perfect for our first visit to Amsterdam. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make our honeymoon extra special! The room was clean and spacious, the only tiny complaint we had was that the towels were scratchy and thin. Overall, we loved our stay there! This hotel is in a great location, it was such a short walk from the train making it really convenient to get into Amsterdam. We got the Amsterdam and Region Travel pass which really simplified our travels to and within the city. Since we were already in Zaandam, we were even inspired to check out the nearby Zaanse Schans at the last minute, and were so glad we did as it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

There for a long weekend with a friend Zaandam is like 15min away from Amsterdam Centraal station (by train ) If you want to avoid the crowded tourist spots, well Zaandam seems to ne the place The hotel is 2 minutes by feet from the station at 5/10 minutes you have a commercial street with shops restaurants and a great cinema The room was clean and comfortable (except the air controlling which was quite complicated to use) the staff were lovely The hotel wasn't noisy ???????? There was a bar/restaurant in the hotel a really good thing when you don't want to get out

It was our first time in Amsterdam and we are very happy about it! This Hotel is only 20 minutes away from the center by train and it has an excelente relation price-quality! We hope to return again in the future!

My wife and I spent three nights in the hotel, partly holiday and partly business. The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from Zaan station, with good connections to the area. There is a nearby supermarket with most of one's needs. Check-in was not fast. We were under the impression that if one booked breakfast in advance, there would be a reduction in price. We were told, however, that this only applied if you book breakfast for all the mornings you were staying, and then only at reception on checking in. Obviously, this reduces flexibility, and we were disappointed. The hotel design is modern industrial. In the corridors and stairways this gives the impression of construction being unfinished and the areas bare. In the dining room there are pipes and utilities exposed in the ceiling, which is alright, except that one my well find oneself next to someone on a stepladder as repair/maintenance is carried out. The design of our bedroom was rather impractical. The furniture arrangement made it seem cramped, and there was only one hook in the bathroom to take all the towels and any clothes you wanted to hang up. The wardrobe space would not accommodate a full-length coat, and two of the shelves above it were out of reach. The wall between the bathroom and the bedroom was glass, only partly obscured. Thus, if you get up to use the bathroom during the night and switch its light on, the whole of the bedroom is flooded with light. On two of the three nights we stayed we were disturbed at 2am by the noisy arrival of drunks in nearby rooms. The hotel only supplies the flimsiest of plastic glasses in the room. When we asked for something more substantial we were told that the hotel policy was not to allow glasses in rooms. We dined in the hotel twice. On the first night we ate alone. The menu itself was interesting, but its execution was poor. The food is expensive for what you get. On the second night we were joined by friends, making up a party of eight. We were told that for such a number we could only have a set menu with only one choice of starter, one choice of main course and one choice of dessert, and we were charged for three courses even if someone only had one or two. The manner in which this edict was delivered was rather rude. This seemed to be a theme in the hotel: get money for a minimum of response. Having said that, there were a number of staff who tried hard to be of service; equally, there were a few who did not seem to care. To summarise: the hotel design is not practical, and our stay was not an enjoyable one.

stopped for a long weekend, literally 2 minute walk from the train station and super market - great location! Amsterdam is 2 stops away about 10/20 mins depending which train you get. rooms were quite spacious, very clean and the beds were super comfy! room had TV with english channels, hairdryer, tea/coffee/shampoos etc all the usual. was surprised to see a fridge, nice added extra! the decor was a touch shabby chic which wasnt to my taste but suited the room. rooms are cleaned every day. word of warning re; the shower - the base is about a foot high and you have to climb in however it is also sloped! When i got in my left foot slipped on the sloped bit causing me to do the splits and my right leg slammed against the raised area leaving a quite nasty bruise halfway up my calf. The only issue we had was at check in, there was no check in time specified, we arrived at approx 10am after a long day of traveling to find out our rooms wouldnt be ready until 3pm! we asked if there was anywhere we could freshen up or if a curiosity room was avaialble, after a couple of calls reception said they had a room we could use, brilliant! (it turned out we kept that room) when we returned at approx 7pm we were told there wasnt another room for us and they were fully booked (4 adults travelling) this was not ideal after a long cold day in Amsterdam. After some phone calls again they found our reservation and found us a room! bit of a farse but al worked out in the end. The staff were great, really friendly and even though we were grumpy with them they didnt react, they were empathetic with our situation and sorted it out quickly. would definitely stay again.

It's a very nice hotel, about 20 minutes far from Amsterdam by car.. Clean rooms, nice mattresses, comfortable beds and very friendly staff.. Also note that has free parking.. Strongly recommended for a weekend escape in Amsterdam..

I stayed there in September when I visited Amsterdam for Damloop 2017 race. Even the participation from the community is very high to the race, I was negatively surprised by paying additional fee to checkout at 3pm. I can understand the hotel policy, however since a lot of athletes visiting and most people started the race around 1-2pm, for a weekend I think the hotel can arrange a flexibility. They have standard size rooms, not so small for a city hotel. The location is very convenient, couple minutes away from Zaandam train station. I can suggest this hotel to people who are not willing to pay extreme money for accommodation but still keeping the ease of travel back and forth to Amsterdam.

The hotel is lovely, modern and very clean.The room was a great size and was nice and quiet. All staff we came across were very polite and they even dressed my dads room for his birthday. It is in a great location for the train station, would definatley stay here again.

This is a warm, clean and comfortable hotel. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. The hotel is a short walk from the station and 2 stops gets you into Amsterdam. There are lots of Restaurants and pubs nearby as well as supermarkets and shops. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will return again.

We have our own hotell classification system. No little plant at the front door, one little plants at the front door and two little plants at the front door. This hotel had NINE little plants at the front door. So it had to be good. And, yes. It was good. Room, parking, WiFi, breakfast were all to our satisfaction. And we slept well in a quiet room. A hotel to return to.

This is not a cheap hotel, but for the price, this is good quality. The rooms are clean and comfortable, have everything you need, and regularly cleaned well. The hotel building is not as pretty as the others in Zaandam, but the interior is very nice. The location is great, just a couple of minutes from the train station and the town itself. The reception staff were EXCELLENT, very friendly and helpful. I was even welcomed with some delicious mustard soup. Well recommended.

A nicely refurbished hotel with a modern feel, I paid about A$90.30 per night for my Standard twin room. This includes the €30 additional tax that I paid directly to the hotel upon check-in, which comprised €3 per person, per night. Check-in was OK, I arrived on a rainy night and even though the staff member behind the counter could see us standing at the door getting soaked in the rain, it took him a while to open the door which made me quite angry. Some troublemakers (of dark complexion) had followed us from the train station so perhaps the staff member was wary of them coming in with us. Anyway, all the staff were ultimately friendly. This hotel is located probably a maximum of 30 minutes from Amsterdam. That is, if you factor in waiting around 10 minutes for the train, taking the 12 minute train ride to Zaandam, and then walking the 5 minutes from the train station to the hotel. I found it a good compromise, especially when pre-booking early to get the best rates, considering hotels in Amsterdam are almost as overpriced as hotels in the main cities of America! Sadly and surprisingly the train is not included on a GVB day ticket because Zaandam is outside of the Amsterdam transport area, and NS trains aren't part of GVB anyway, so a return train trip into Amsterdam will cost you €6,40. If you have an OV-chipkaart it will cost you €1 less, but you must have minimum €20 loaded onto the card to be able to validate your trip! This isn't so helpful if you're only there as a tourist and want to use the full balance of your card. The Netherlands, or at least the greater Amsterdam region, could certainly do with some improvements on public transport ticketing integration! In my home city, an all day adult ticket across all modes of public transport, within the whole greater metropolitan area, costs the equivalent of €5.50! OK, back to the hotel: My room was a reasonable size and clean, especially the bathroom which was a good size and modern. The area was generally quiet, and so my room was very quiet which I appreciated. Beds were comfortable and while the selection of English TV channels wasn't huge, it was still OK. I had no issues with the Wifi. The DEEN supermarket, a 3 minute walk across the carpark, was very convenient, and is open from 0800-2100 every day except Sunday, when it is open 1000-1900. While I didn't purchase breakfast at the hotel, they did have a good selection, including a Chocomel dispensing machine! I would recommend purchasing breakfast at check-in for a discounted rate if you're stuck for ideas. So, to summarise, this is a good quality 3 star hotel that is definitely worth considering for those who don't mind staying a bit away from all the action to save a significant amount of money. A short walk away is Zaandam city centre, with some reasonable options for dining and shopping, and the area is generally pretty quiet.

On arrival at this hotel the reception staff were very welcoming was given room card 501 and was given a couple of paper maps which the young lady circled interesting parts of the city very polite and professional we booked breakfast for the following day at the reduced rate of €10 each nice self service of bacon, beans,bread,fruit etc coffee lattes were very nice our room was fine was up early and out to Amsterdam central arriving back later in the evening beds were comfy nice big shower towels changed frequently safe free to use microwave by a small sink unit and a flat screen tv on wall on our last night we decided to eat in the restaurant two meals of half a chicken and chips and one burger and chips my wife enjoyed her meal the chicken and chips were ok finally hotel location to train station excellent nice shopping precinct plus restaurants further up the hill would use again if we came back to Amsterdam.

Overall a good hotel. The room was tiny though and the floor had not been swept and was quite dirty. Other than that, breakfast was good, staff were very helpful and location is fantastic - 2 min walk from Zaandaam station which takes you straight in Amsterdam Centraal.

My wife and I spent 1 night with a prepaid reservation. We arrived by rental car after visiting the Zaans Schans just 7 km north then drove into the gated parking right next to this hotel. Check in was pleasant with english speaking Damian and we were soon on the elevator to our 3rd floor #307. The efficient room had 2 twins(put together) with nightstands, small table with chair, small desk with chair. An adjoining shelving unit had a clothes bar, cabinet with hot pot with coffee and tea, safe and small refer. The flatscreen had extensive cable with full international channels The fully outfitted bathroom was perfect with ultra hot water, the central AC was unobtrusive,and the room was spotless. We walked 100 meters to the large Deen Supermarket, another 100 meters to the escalator up to the Central Station, then directly out to the cities pedestrian zone. All hotel personnel were nice, including at the bar where we had drinks, and we conclude this facility is all good news.

It`s a modern hotel near the railway station and the shopping area and a few kilometers away from the factory mills in Zaanstad. The rooms are spacious and also taking into consideration that we receptionists were very friendly.

The hotel was very close to the train station, which makes it easy to go to Amsterdam. The receptionists were really friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We choose this hotel a small distance from Amsterdam,but easy to get to by train from Central Station.We stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time....our room was beautiful and would have been an upgrade in Canada or the U.S.A.We had a nice and efficient bathroom,comfortable king-size bed,a kitchen,2 T.V.s and very clean and efficient.You arrive our take the train 2 minutes from the hotel.The restaurant and breakfast are first class ...what a choice...It was so good for us to be back in Holland and we are looking forwards to come back.....It took some time to answer because we went on a 14 day cruise out of Amsterdam.....

Location is located about 300 meters (more or less) from the Zaandam train station, and there is a supermarket in between where you can buy food or supplies. Its around 5 to 7 min walk from the train station. The rooms are nice and clean. Staff were mostly nice, but there was one particular staff who was a bit rude to me during breakfast. Something to note; if you didn't book breakfast with your hotel, you have the option to order it the night before and get some discount instead of paying it during breakfast time itself.

Hotel close to Zaandam station and connecting to Amsterdam city. Visited Zaanse Schanns from here. Staffs warm and helpful with smile. They checked if we are ok with the place. Thumbs up !! There is also Deen supermaket nearby. Access to station and restaurants on the station street.

My husband and I just recently stayed here and it was Lovley! Staff very helpful and friendly, room clean and tidy. Hotel is right by the train station that takes you straight to Amsterdam central... even at the train station staff were friendly. Very pleased

We choose this hotel because of the reasonable price (hotels in centraal are so so high). This hotel is very close to a supermarket and the train station so it is very convenient. Staffs are helpful. The room is clean and relatively big from other hotels we living before. Although the shower sprinkler is too high, all basic things you need is given to you. Will definitely stay this hotel next time!

The staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable. The hairdryer was a bonus and I was lent a good iron and ironing board so I could get ready for a wedding. Breakfast was fine. The only comment I have is that the mattress cover made me uncomfortably hot and sticky on a hot night. And the bedside tables were shabby! Otherwise, I would absolutely return. A very handy location.

Good installations and a fair price. The parking lot is free and they have a decent restaurant for dinner. Mice family room (Could be a nice option for family with toddlers, because has a small place with microwave and kitchen sink.

This is a clean hotel with friendly staff located close to Amsterdam so most probably that is why the price is high. Breakfast is standard, nothing special. Served in the bar which gives it a special atmosphere. I will return when I need to be in the neighbourhood.

Our check-in staff was friendly and happy, which made us feel good after a long journey in. Everything in the room was clean and new. It has a hairdryer so that is a bonus. We had a room which faces a large carpark but it was never crowded or noisy in the evening/night time.The wifi was stable and fast. Hotel is situated very near to Zaandam rail station, but should not be enough to bother the light sleepers very much. DEEN supermarket is located conveniently in between the hotel and the station. They sell stamps as well though only available in a booklet instead of in singles. The only issue was the air-con did not work for the 4 nights we were there. We checked with a staff at the front desk who confirmed this. Thankfully the weather had been cooling enough in the evening or that would have been a real problem. Would recommend the property to anyone (as long as the air-con is working)..!

Location is good if you need the station (itself only a coupe of stops from central Amsterdam), but there's really nothing much around otherwise. Even with the window wide open (nice that they allow this, many hotels don't) it was quiet enough even for me and the curtains provided a reasonable blackout. Everything was spotlessly clean - it's a plan and simple hotel, but not in a bad way. Check-in was a little clunky - the receptionist was a trainee - but friendly and everything got done. Service overall is a bit on the amateur side; incredibly slow in the restaurant - took forever to get a menu and then a drink, but again friendly and helpful. I muddled up my Uber ride, so had to skip breakfast, but it looked reflective of the hotel - plain, simple, perfectly adequate.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. Nice hotel, very quiet for a good night's sleep. Very close to the train station (2 minute walk) and 2 train stops from Amsterdam Centraal (~12 minute ride). A large walking-only shopping street is beside the train station. Lots of nice shops but the people there are quite rude compared to Amsterdam. The staff in the restaurant/bar of the hotel are not very good and the maid walked in on us sleeping at 9am. A bit early to start cleaning rooms when many people are visiting from North America and aren't used to the time yet :) The shower in our room was fantastic and suited my 6'4" husband very well (which can be a problem in Europe). Overall, good place with great access to Amsterdam.

The quality and comfort of the room is excellent. The bed helps resting and recovering energies. The bathroom is good, unfortunately without a bidet as everywhere in the Netherlands. Don't expect a breath-taking sight, you're just in Zaandam.

The hotel is very clean & in good location. It is located near train station.Our suite is very big for 3 of us.Our 15 year-old-daughter got her own space with 2 beds ( twin beds put together)all by herself! There is a dinning table & chairs, small kitchen area with sink,microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, coffee&tea.Bathroom is clean Breakfast is excellent.staff are friendly.

Loved this little hotel, two stops by train up from Central Amsterdam and the cost was low, compared to the Central hotels. Only problem was plastic mattress pads made us sweat all night. Hopefully they'll replace them, before we come back. Definitely a great place to stay and see Amsterdam for the price, make sure you get the 10 euro breakfast which was all homemade croissants, eggs, bacon, fruit and more. Friendly staff.

Staff were amazing. Great location. Next to supermarket & railway. Stayed in a suite. Loads of room. The only thing I can knock was the pillows are way too small. Also could do with some drawers beside the bed instead of the little stools.

Location - Chose that for it's proximity to Zaandam and really, it is just 2 stops away from Amsterdam Central. Convenient location in between the airport and the city without the crowd. Close to a supermarket for your needs as well. Check-in : Fuss free and even though i read about the snooty service but Lisa was really nice after my 1st check in and she remembered me and that I had luggage which I kept with the Hotel. Room : Clean, comfortable. Only that my 2nd room (Room 205) had quite a faulty shower system which didn't drain as fast as it should. Overall, would stay here again!

One night for the family (2 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby) after having spent the day in Keukenhof. Hotel ideally placed to visit Zaan area and the staff were incredibly helpful. There is a supermarket across the large car park (avoid driving into this one as it is paid and hotel has its own car park on the other side) to load up on supplies if necessary. Train station a short walk away to get into town. Breakfast was very good; room small-ish but with large king bed and basic amenities. Would recommend as a staging post for Amsterdam and the region. Price wasn't exceptional value for money but given the time of year and location that was probably to be expected.

Modern designed hotel. Very friendly staff. Clean and cosy rooms. Next to station with fast access to centre of Amsterdam and could leave car for free. Restaurant with good food and some local specialties. Great place for a short stay.

Nice hotel with beautiful rooms and awesome food. Of course it is expensive but the plates are so big! We stayed in the 5th floor and had extra sports running the stairs - but of course there is a life.

Stayed at the hotel from the 13th to 15th April. My daughter loves the mini playground! The staffs are helpful and friendly, the location is excellent. Only 3 to 5 minutes from Zaandam train station which will take you less than 15 minutes to the city centre and the windmills. The zaandam centre which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel is also very nice and unique. The only thing that we regret is that we didn't stay longer at this hotel and decided to stay at a hotel near to the airport meanwhile it took only about 25 minutes to reach the airport straight from zaandam. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning to visit amsterdam.

This was a one night business trip booked by my client. The hotel was very clean and the reception staff extremely helpful. The room was more than adequate for one night, with the bed being comfortable and the bathroom feeling newly decorated. The restaurant was excellent, if maybe a little pricey, but the food was very good, i can highly recommend the ribs and the staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and there was a wide range of buffet items giving good VFM.

Very good and really close to Amsterdam. The crew is really polite and friendly and here to help you with tourism informations and advices. The hotel is really really close to the train station and an atm and a supermarket. And for the geocachers out there, there is a cache in the lobby! ;-) One thing maybe to little improve. As I share and understand your ecology policy, something to dry out the towels would be great. Just on the chair is not enough. Despite that your hotel is perfect for me.

This hotel is only 2 Train Stop away from Amsterdam Central Station (< 12 mins) cost Euro2.70 with OV Chipkaart. Without OV Chipkart will cost you Euro1 extra. If you are staying at this hotel, I would recommend you to get the OV Chipkaart which cost Euro7.50 (un-refundable). Your card must always be reloaded with at least Euro20 if you are taking the train. This credit can always be refunded at the airport or any other train station with counter service. Euro1 admin fee will be charged for the refund process. The refund process is fast and in cash as long as the credit in your card does not exceed Euro30. This hotel is only 400m away from Zaandam Train Station. From the platform go upstairs, turn right then down the escalator. Once at the street level, make a SHARP right (NOT straight out then right). Walking down you will see Deen Supermarket along your way before you reach the Hotel. Deen Supermarket is only 1 min walk away from this Hotel. This is a big supermarket and I always get my daily necessity from there. It is very convenient and also 1 of my major reason why I choose this Hotel. This hotel is actually situated in Zaandam, not Amsterdam. Personally after visited these places, I find myself prefer Zaandam more than Amsterdam. Zaandam is a very peaceful and quiet city. Amsterdam is too crowded for me. If you are exiting the Zaandam Train Station from the left exit, you will be amaze with it's beautiful shopping district. You can spend half day there at least. There is also a big supermarket there called Albert Heijn. From Zaandam Station, you can actually easily access to many other well known attraction. Zaanse Schans (Windmill, Clog Workshop, Cheese Factory etc..) is only 2 Train Stop Away < 10 mins (Get off at Zoog-Zandijk Train Station). If you wish to visit Keukenhof (Tullips Farm), take a train from Zaandam Station and get off at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Train Station 17 mins (3 Train Stop away) at Euro4.50. From the Airport, take direct shuttle Bus 858, 30mins straight to Keukenhof at Euro5. All this you can use the OV Chipkaart. I did not use the laundry service. However, if you need it, it will cost Euro17.50 per 5kg wash.

A very pleasant hotel with a good restaurant and bar. Good food for good prices. Hotel is very near to the city center and train station. It is not on a busy road and very quiet. Zaandam is a very nice city with lots of shops and with the train (only 3 minutes away) you can travel to Amsterdam very easy. A visit to the Zaanse Schans is also worth wile.

The hotel is situated in Zaandam approx 20 minutes from Amsterdam central via train. The train station is maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel so not particularly an issue. There is a supermarket outside of the hotel with local restaurants etc available in zaandam (worth having a walk through). The hotel is decorated very well with modern interior. Rooms are well equipped with safety deposit box, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. Rooms very comfortable and spacious.

Enjoyed our stay, staff very pleasant, room quite, had fridge, safe,tv, kettle and shower room with shower cap, shower gel, towels. Short walk from train station make sure on leaving station you go to the right exit at top of stairs. Safe area.. 2 females and returned late some nights.Next to supermarket....fresh squeezed orange,croissants and bread every morning cheaper than the breakfast at hotel. Glad I stayed here I have stayed in Amsterdam for the same price and shared bathrooms. Regular trains from Amsterdam and Schipol airport. Took a short train ride to Zaanse Schans (cheap ) worth going.

Quite small rooms but modern and very clean, with comfortable beds and an excellent little bathroom with shower. Downside was the restaurant; we had made no reservation and would have had to wait for more than an hour to be seated. So we opted for a pizza delivery service instead :-P

Just arrived home after 1 nights stay in this hotel. The location is the best part, it's a 5 min walk (if that) to train station which is only a 10 min train to Amsterdam Central- cheap train tickets too! The trains are very regular and go on until 2 in the morning. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was great, very modern with nice size TV on wall, kettle and tea and coffee facilities, nice spacious bathroom, huge double bed and lovely view of the surroundings. I would definitely recommend this hotel, wish I stayed longer.

We stayed in a family room which was ideal for 3 adults. Staff were very helpful both before and during our visit, with suggestions of places to visit etc. Just a few minutes walk from the station and the town of Zandaam. Breakfast was a good selection. Ate in the restaurant one evening of our stay. Food was lovely but menu could do with a few pasta dishes/ snack type meals etc.

A really lovely hotel in a great location for visiting Amsterdam and all the sites. Only 15mins on a train to the centre and only a 3-5min walk from the station to the hotel. Lovely big rooms with excellent facilities including a safe, fridge, large shower, TV, big beds. Supermarket next door which offers everything. Friendly staff. Only downside was the hotels restaurant was very expensive and didn't offer much choice of meals. Also the pillows were hard and uncomfortable for sleeping on.

We had a great stay at Zaan Inn. Very friendly and helpfull staff. The room was clean and nice. Bathroom well equipped. Breakfast : enough to choose from! We also had dinner at the hotel-restaurant. That was good. Free parking is very pleasant. The location is perfect! Close to Zaandam citycentre and the railwaystation, so Amsterdam can be reached within 12 minutes. We'll planning to stay at Zaan Inn again in a few months.

Unfortunately not a good experience. The staff was really "cold" and rude (except Luigi); we booked by Amex and we paid by american express, but we didn't buy the breakfast for a mistake. So, after the first night during the breakfast the waitress asked us if we had the breakfast included in our rate. During the vacation we took 5 flights and I didn't remember if I booked the breakfast. So, the receptionist (when we were eating) asked us to interrupt the meal to pay the breakfast, not a request but a command. It was very rude!! In other hotels never happened this!

We went there as family of 4 and got a 1 bedroom apartment. We felt the design of the room was not great. For example the bathroom was a glass sliding door, and can be inconvenient when you are staying with family (4 adults). The door leading to the bedroom is also not a proper door. The location is near the supermarket which was very convenient. It is also near the train station (5-10 min walk) so taking the train to the airport, city or other tourist spots was quite convenient as well. Service staff was friendly and helpful. Overall average.

Very friendly staff, they offer a solution before you can even ask the question. If you're not looking for the stanard 'posh' hotel approach, bt for a genuine customer oriented approach - this is the place to be!

We had a great experience. Our room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. I was very pleased with the location for our 12-day stay. It was a short walk to the train station and conveniently located near a grocery, shops, and restaurants. So glad we stayed a bit out from Amsterdam...so peaceful.

We recently stayed here for two weekend during a biking trip. We found the hotel tidy and clean with great service. The patio was handy for a couple of afternoon drinks. Great location next to a grocery store and about 1km from a nice dam with lots of cool places for dinner and drinks.

Pros: Room well equipped; 2 chairs, refrig. hot water pot Cons: Would have liked a clean mattress upon arrival; safe too small for a laptop We had a similar stained mattress experience with Best Western in Rouen, France where we had to leave because, after trying three rooms, they couldn't provide a clean mattress. I alerted Best Western in the US (Kaitlyn Customer Care Phoenix AZ) and was stunned to get an email from Best Western saying they added the info to “their file” and confirmed Best Western only requires a clean mattress cover, not necessarily a clean mattress. I believe mattress covers are to prevent mattress stains, not to cover them up! The Zann Inn did get it right on the second room offered and we enjoyed our stay. If arriving by train: from the platform go upstairs, turn right then down the escalator. Once at the street level, make a SHARP right (NOT straight out then right) and you'll find it easier than we did!

The Zaan Inn is ideally located within easy reach of Amsterdam (20 minutes by train), but out of the noise of the city centre. Zaandam itself is an attractive place with a good mix of modern and historical areas. Plenty of good places to eat and drink in town or in the hotel itself. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful and appeared to speak almost any language they encountered! We have stayed there before and would certainly stay again.

we stayed here with a package deal and we found out when we got to the airport it wasnt in amsterdam it was just ouside a train ride away so we got there then they told us that the travel agent we booked with had cancelled the booking but they rang up the travel agent for us to find out what was going on and we sorted it in the end must of took the manager about 2 hours to sort but nothing was to much trouble. then i couldnt get into my suitcase so the same manger came and helped he was sawing through my lock for about 20 mins trying to get it through we got there in the end. Thankyou for everything you did for us it :). Lovely hotel, really nice location, staff are brilliant. so glad we stopped here we didnt want to leave! would highly recommend ++++++.

We stayed in a "family room" on the 5th floor. Pros: * not very close to the railway; so it was quiet; * they had a locked garage for bicycles; * family room was nice and had a microwave and a fridge; * the room had enough space; * a large supermarket was next to the hotel. Cons: * the room did not have a balcony;

+ Good location 15 min (6 Euros return) by railway to Amsterdam. Free parking for your car. Choice of restaurants and shops behind the railway station, just 10 mins from Hotel. Clean rooms with modern but simple furniture. Clean bathroom. Shower was clogged upon arrival this was quickly solved. Very competent, friendly and helpful reception. - Worn out matresses, backpacker-youth hostel style. Your back will sink down and rest directly on the wood below. In a 94 Euro-per-day-room worn out 30-Euro-matresses, incredible ! Moreover, for exactly the same room with one double matress instead of the two singles, the Hotel charges 10 Euro extra, that is per day ! Only one elevator for the whole hotel, daily use by cleaning personal, long waiting time in morning hours. Charge for standard breakfast for two persons is 25 Euro, far more than other hotels in the Netherlands. This is easy to solve: Just get your fresh breakfast items from the supermarket opposite the Hotel (opens 8 a.m.) for a couple of Euro and use the coffeemaker in the room.

Nice Best Western with all the usual mod cons. We had the suite with a kitchen and it was a comfortable and spacious place. One concern was the bathroom. It had a glass door which didn't leave much to the imagination of someone was on the loo or in the shower. Not all people sharing want to be so familiar! Bed was very comfortable and the car park large and overlooked.

I stayed there for 3 nights. Very good location, only minutes walking from Zaandam station, and there is supermarket just in front of hotel. Very friendly staffs and helpful. The room is nice and clean. I won't say the breakfast is very good but good enough for the price I have paid (sorry, I forgot how much exactly, most likely around EUR 7-8 per meal). The only problem I had is that the cleaning ladies were not really good. They even didn't put shower gel & shampoo in my room on the 3rd day and the mug I used for tea last night even didn't clean at all. Except these small problems, overall, this is a good hotel and is worthy to stay. I hope the management could see my comment here and improve their training to cleaning staffs. If I have a chance to go there again (most likely I will), I will still choose this hotel.

Choose kingsize bed, realy wide :), also recomend breakfest, have a pleasant stay. Perfect lokation close to station and city center, free parking space. Even better then a stay in Amsterdam. Really werth to choose.

The hotel was very good and nice and it is very central located and very near to the train station. When we first arrived we were 2 families with the same equal number of persons and booked for 1 week. We booked from booking.com and obviously as we booked the same room type and same number of persons the price on booking.com was exactly the same price. As soon as we arrived we went to check in and pay our stay and to our surprise one of the rooms came cheaper than the other,we offered to still pay the normal price and not the cheapest we agreed with the receptionist that when she finds the mistake she will tell us although she insisted that she will tell us when we do the check out. On the 4th night when we came back from our outing and went to go into the room, we found that our key card wasn't working. I came down again to the receptionist and she told me that our room was blocked because we didn't pay the in full. Please note that the receptionist saw us going out from the hotel and going in again and she didnt say anything to us, while we had a baby which was asleep and we couldn't go in because our room was blocked with all our belongings inside when on the first day we were insisting to pay full and the receptionist told us that if there was a difference we pay at the check out! We are very very disappointed by this service!

Nice hotel with 'industrial' looking restaurant. Good price, free parking and good rooms. Rooms are too warm as in any hotel. Every room has a shower and no bath, a big plus for me. Personnel is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is not expensive and good.

Took this hotel on the last minute and not sorry for that. The hotel is very close to the city center (great shopping avenue near by) and to the train station which puts you in Amsterdam central station in 15 minutes. Nice breakfast (with extra fee), the staff was very friendly and helpful

Zaandam is less than fifteen minutes from central using the train. Trains run every few minutes and there is only one stop. You can even get a train here from the airport. So it's convenient. Zaandam itself is charming with a few supermarkets and shopping centres. Even if you don't stay here it's worth a day trip. The hotel is a short walk from the station and is very quiet. Rooms a re spacious enough with a fridge and tea making equipment. Air con, opening window, pleasant service at the front desk. The prices are good by Amsterdam standards. My only complaint is that wifi was dodgy and slow. This seems to be a common complaint and they need to fix it. Please tell me when you do because I would definitely stay here again if it's fixed.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a 2 room suite for a family of 4. Much better value than staying in central Amsterdam and only 15 minutes away on the frequent trains. Free parking was also useful and convenient. Hotel is much nicer inside than out. Room was clean and spacious, with a useful kitchenette (limited to a fridge and microwave so don't expect a real kitchen). Only complaint was the see-through glass door to the bathroom, which my teenage daughters did not appreciate! Staff very nice and helpful, bar looked nice but we did not sit in there. Wifi pretty poor (it didn't work at all on our second night), but at least it was free and unlimited devices.

The hotel is very conveniently located from Zaandam station. It is around a 5 minute walk (as you come up from the platform take a right out of the station, not a left into Zaandam town itself) We were on the 4th floor. The room was decent and clean. The bathroom was a good size. The air con in the room was a must given how hot the weather was (though the cleaners kept turning it off). The reception staff were so friendly and both they and the bar staff gave good tips and advice about places to go and see during out stay. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. Dinner was not quite so good. The choice was limited and the price was quite high. The wifi is a little hit and miss. Some days it was fine and on other occasions the download speed was around 0.6. There is a fridge in the room which is great and the supermarket is a stones throw away so you can stock up with essentials. The hotel was nice and quiet and we really enjoyed our stay. My daughter said the best was the most comfortable she had ever slept in. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

I loved this hotel because it was next door to the grocery store (Deen) so we could buy all sorts of drinks and snacks to have in our family suite. It's also right next to the train station. The front staff are very welcoming and friendly although the male waiters in the restaurant were not the greatest. It was hard to get their attention and they rarely checked on the table unless we managed to stop them as they rushed pass our busy table. The one female bartender or waitress was great though and very friendly. They would lock the doors at night so it made you feel secure which is a good thing. They did not seem to mind my friends smoking outside as long as it wasn't in front of the doors. I highly recommend the family suite to any groups traveling. This location also has a cigarette smoker's lounge room, cigarette dispenser, and pool table. I love the city of Zaandam and find this hotel to be ideal compared to the Innhotel across from it which is right on the city walk. This one is close but not too close to everything. The fact that it is right next to the Deen makes it superbly ideal for week long vacations with family and friends!

Reasonable, clean but very uncomfortable beds. Front desk is not trained well. They insisted giving us a handicapped room with an inconvenient shower saying that all the rooms are like that. We insisted, finally they came up with a normal room. Centrally located. Location allows convenient sightseeing trips in the area.

This was a basic hotel, not too bad and not great. I stayed here with my partner in mid June. It was a non smoking hotel, wifi connection was okay - not great (in rooms). The rooms were quite a decent size. We had breakfast included which was pretty basic too, nothing too fancy. Right opposite (across the car park) was a great supermarket which was very handy. The best thing about the hotel is defiantly the location. The train station was a 3 minute walk from the hotel - one direct train takes you straight to dam square which took about 15 minutes; this was very useful as we were in dam square everyday. The area near the green hotel (inner hotel) which is a 5-10 minute walk from zaan inn is a very nice area which has lots of different shops and restaurants.

Hotel looked dull from the outside but is much better inside. The rooms are huge with a completely separate sitting room with a small kitchen but a full dining table. TV in sitting room and bedroom. The bathroom is also huge and set up as a full wet room. Good and full set of toiletries. Location is 2 mins from the train station and the restaurant serves until 22.00 so a great location for a weekend away. The main town is 10 mins pretty walk along the canal. There are many restaurants and bars around the central square.

Just had a three night stay,nice room ,helpful staff,near train station,free parking .Breakfast had lots of choices,i would stay again in the future,a three minute walk to the station to catch a train to Amsterdam.

We needed a stay in Amsterdam or close-by. For the price we've paid, we would have only obtained a dump in the city, therefore we choose this one outside and after a recommandation from a friend. As we were not visiting Amsterdam anyways, that was the best choice. It's close to the train station & also close to the lovely & small city centre. We arrived early in the morning due an early flight & were happy to get an early check-in. Room were clean & nice. Breakfast was a small buffet with almost everything you need.

Stayed for 3 days, was close to the shops and a train station which was good as it was easy to get a train into Amsterdam. Nice and clean bathroom/ shower, always tidied by the maid. The restaurant was reasonably priced and food was okay. Hotel stated to have a double bed but unfortunately was two singles pushed together and easy to fall through. Good for young couples, wouldn't recommend to families and large groups.

No recognition as a BW Diamond member. No upgrade, no welcome drink. Bad start at check-in. Parking is free. Room was rather small. Some vintage furniture. Dust on the floor under the desk. Room 201. Kingsize bed. Didnt liked the matrass and pillows. Small bathroom. I skipped the bar and restaurant because i didnt liked the atmosphere. No cosy lounge seating. Mix of old and new. Vintage furniture. Open ceiling. Not so comfy seats. High tables. Not my thing. Breakfast next morning buffet style. Cost €9.50 if booked in advance. Ok but nothing special. Hotel is in a former office building behind the trainstation. Good quick connections to Amsterdam CS. Supermarket (Deen) across the parkinglot. Dont think i recommend this hotel. There are better options.

This was a very,very bad experiance with this hotel.For the first time I'm extreamly disapointed from Best Western.The room is very small,the bathroom is in fact part of the room-there is a rolling door that "separate"them but it's not a real door.All the steam from the bathroom is comming in the room.The bed is smaal,very soft with a big pillow.Disaster for sleeping.The walls are so thiny that you can hear the bteath of your neiberhood.They have try to do a "design"room,but the result is horrible.Everything is old and bad smeling.Very disapointing place!

The Zaan Inn is only 15 mins away (by train) to Amsterdam central station. It is an excellent option if you wanna visit the Dutch capital, as it is cheaper than most hotels in the city center while offering high-quality rooms. Train to Amsterdam costs only 2.7-4€ so definitely affordable. I recommend! GOOD POINTS - Very clean rooms, with king size bed, spacious bathroom and nice decorations - Cosy breakfast room, billiard and smoking lounges - Laundry service, supermarket and shops (Primark, H&M, Starbucks) nearby - Close to the Zaanse Schan, an area famous for its windmills - Good check-out time (12.00) - Free WIFI LOWS - Not in Amsterdam ( but as said, it's a quick trip!) - Expensive breakfast (12€)

I wish I had stayed two nights here instead of the one. This was by far the best hotel I stayed in during my travels in Europe this year. The staff were very sweet and caring and I had an amazing nights sleep. The wi fi was fast and efficient and the breakfast was good. They served what I have certainly found to be the most "melt in the mouth" croissants ever! This is definitely my first choice hotel for when I visit Amsterdam again. Its proximity to the zaandam station makes the commute to the city centre a breeze.

The location is excellent. The hotel is very near to the Zaandam train station, could reach Amsterdam city centre by train easily. The room and bathroom was okay and clean, except for the smell of paint/varnish. The smell of the hotel walkway, strong smell of paint/varnish. I think the hotel is doing a renovation work, maybe.

A yung man work in the receiption is Unreliable man.he suggest us to go by texi to the airport leave at 03:30 for my airline to fly at 9: 30.because he said the first trip from zaandam to Amstedam is start at 7 : 75 every morning but when i ask the train information the fact is start from 05:. 35.and the time enough for us to go by train.so i think the guid is so poor and dishonest and not professional.

We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Amsterdam. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Zaandam train station. There is a large supermarket (Deen) located bewteen the hotel and the train station, and there is a large shopping area on the other side of the train station with restaurants (both fast food & upscale) as well as all kinds of shops. There is a ticket office in the train station, which is convenient for advice, as well as for buying tickets with notes if you don't have coins for the machines. It is only a 15 min train nride to the Amsterdam Centraal Station (2nd stop), and a 20 minute ride to the airport (3rd stop). The trains run frequently, and we had no problem managing our large suitcases withn escalators and elevators at the stations. The hotel is very clean and quiet. We were happy to have central air, as the weather was unusually hot during our stay. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and a decent size. Rooms come with a mini fridge, safe, and a small table and chairs. There was plenty of counter space to hold 2 large suitcases, as well as hangars on a rack area to hang clothes, and a shelving unit for other stuff. The breakfast buffet was very nice with eggs, bacon, cold cuts, home-made breads, patries, and fruit. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was nice and clean with English speaking workers so was easy to communicate. Was a 2minute walk from the train station so easy to travel to and from airport. Also a 10minute train ride to Amsterdam Central where the main attractions are so was very convenient to get about. Only thing is to aware of, on arrival you do have to pay a city tax being a tourist.

This hotel is just a couple of minutes from the train station in Zaandam. The rooms were very good and very clean and nice bathrooms. We had breakfast at the hotel and this was a buffet style with good quality food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only 12 minute away from Amsterdam by train so it is very convenient. I will book again if I go to Amsterdam. The only downfall is the Wifi connection. It runs very slow but I was told they have a problem and they are working on it.

The Best Western Zaan Inn is a hotel that, in spite of its large amount of rooms, offers a cosy informal atmosphere, especially by the small scale and warm set-up of the restaurant. The room we had was comfortable and silent with a great bed. Great value for money so close to Amsterdam.

Perfect location and services. New rooms, coffee, tea and water boiler in the room. Very large flatscreen tv with national and international stations. Excellent climate control. Perfect location for trips to the Czar Peter house, and the bulb fields and Keukenhof.

Just outside the station with frequent and cheap trains into Amsterdam Centraal. We stayed with our two kids. The suite, with separate bedroom was great. Staff were really efficient and friendly. A bit of plus was the bar that had some really good local beer, staff were knowledgeable. Worth walking into Zaandam really pleasant little place with a few decent bars and eateries.

Excellent location, very close to Zaandam station still very quiet. Amsterdam Central is about 15 minutes away. The room was great, the bed was very comfy. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat style, always was fresh bakery and the lineup was very diverse. I'll definitely stay there again if I visit Amsterdam area again.

Some of staff are a bit inflexible, unaccommodating, abrupt & to regimental leading to this unsatisfactory review . It would be more stars ... But alas ....due to The 2 young ladies managing the bar on our arrival the night of the 25-3-2016 need to work on there customer relations or choose another job out of the hospitality industry possibly, As relations soured very quickly having been accosted on entry to the bar & over confusion from a minor infringement of company policy where children are involved & food ... Having missed the kitchen because of late arrival in part Due to world events recently making traveling from country to country A lot longer process than normal. Managerial discretion could have been used as of the late hour of night & circumstances, but sadly it wasn't Company policy is exercised to the fullest extent of the law...stray off the rules even a tad you'll be met with a terse response e.g 23:00 bar closes Arrive back 23:01 to make a night cap.... Fully staffed bar, absolutely unwavering NO!! drink ...not a chance ...8 of us the revenue they turn down, as it isn't cheap must be phenomenal. Still rules is rules Breakfast Understaffed 2 people catering for all hotel guests not good. To much time waiting for the refresh & replenishment of hot food items, crockery, bread, Clearing & setting of tables In my opinion two much work for 2 people & dependent of the pair managing breakfast we are back to certain policy's again One morning allowed ketchup ... Next morning not allowed ketchup Hmmmm....hmmmmm All these factors Turn breakfast into a long drawn out process Rooms Clean very clean can't fault them Room size big family room We had no wifi issues, Location Ideal for Amsterdam & surrounding areas, quiet & safe, fabulously located to train station making commuting simple & plenty of parking All this leads me to the conclusion I wouldn't stay here again unless a certain staff contingency are brought up to speed resulting in a better customer based experience for all ...instead of such a hard line approach. We stayed in Zaan-Inn for one night. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Checking in went fast. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. There's free parking around the hotel which is a plus. The trainstation is nearby. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to visit Amsterdam, Zaandam or the Zaanse schans.

Perfect if you arrive by car because the hotel offers free parking. Only 5 minutes to walk and you are at Zaandam train station. On the other side of the train station you'll find plenty of shops. A train from Zaandam to Amsterdam Central station only takes 15 minutes and the ticket only costs you a few Euros. Compared to most hotels in Amsterdam you get more value for your money at this hotel. There's also a supermarket next to the hotel which might come in handy. Book your stay on the hotel website instead of s booking platform to save some money.

We had a 4 night stay here and enjoyed every second. Zaandam is a great place to stay. Close to transport links and lovely shops and restaurants and bars around the area, all around 20 minutes walk away. Under 10 min walk to the train station that has fast links to the airport and the Amsterdam central. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. Staff were excellent and it's right opposite a supermarket and the hotel is so quiet! Highly recommended

Recently stayed at this hotel, nice quiet area, hotel was clean and tidy, staff was always polite and helpful, the rooms was cleaned everyday or when you wanted it to be cleaned, bedding changed on a daily basis or when you wanted it changed, room staff was friendly and helpful.. definitely would stay here again.. nice hotel shower.. A short walk from the station, and train link from the airport to central Amsterdam.. superstore a couple of minutes walk.. all in all very satisfied..

We have been three times before in this hotel and were quite satisfied. Maybe our expectations were too high but this time we found the breakfast not worth the €12.50 charge. At breakfast all free tables were not cleaned and had used dishes. In fact the general cleanness left to desire. The rooms were okay but the shower did not drain properly. Value for money? Probably this time not.

when you don't want to spend to much money for a good night of sleep, this is a good place to be. The environment is very quit. It is situated a bit out of the center, but with a car that shouldn't be a problem. Be careful if you don't know the area. Not al GSM-system are familiar with the changing traffic situations in this city. I was there in november 2015 and I had to drive some extra km's because my system wanted to bring me where I couldn't go ...

After a long flight from Cape Town, we checked in in this hotel around 1pm. The hotel is conveniently located from the trainstation in a 5 minute walk. Checking in went fast too. The room looked as pictured on the website, only smaller. After unpacking and settling in and being in our room for about two hours, I made use of the bathroom. I noticed the sink had not been cleaned: the outlines of a soap bar were still very prominent on the sink. I also noticed a brownish smear, but with the fatigue kicking in I decided housekeeping may have forgotten to clean the sink and I decided to do it myself with one of the cleaning wetties I always travel with. But when I sat on the toiletseat, I was horrified to notice a rather big dried up urine stain on the seat between my legs! This bathroom had simply not been cleaned at all, and from that moment on I lost all confidence in the hygiene of this hotel: it looked dirty and I felt dirty. Obviously I went down to the reception to request another room. Apologies followed and a new room was granted: help with changing our stuff was not offered. Finally taking a shower in our second room, it quickly became clear the drain of the shower was clogged. I stood showering with my feet in dirty water and so had to hurry too because otherwise the bassin may overflow. Very slowly the water would retreat, so my husband had to wait a while before he could take a shower. When I reported this problem the next day, more apologies followed and they said they would fix it. But when we showered again, the problem was still as big. We reported it again the following day, and when we returned, it was fixed. During check out they asked me how my stay was. I explained them it was unsatisfactory because of the dirty bathroom and the shower problems. More apologies followed and also the explanation that the shower could not be fixed on January 1st as their technical service does not work on that day: I pointed out that I paid for that day too, even more than on an average day because it is a holiday, and that if you run a 24/365 day business and charge for it, your service also should be 24/365.

Yes, the hotel is clean, at walking distance from the main railway station with good connections to Amsterdam and offers free car parking to guests. A shame that when arriving a ahead of the check-in deadline, the receptionist told us our room was not free and we'd had to wait for the room to be ready. This is clearly stretching the truth as after the first night, our room got cleaned and turned over by housekeeping whilst we were having breakfast; let's say it took us 30-45 minutes. The room would have been ready before the deadline, it was either the management's rule or the attitude of the receptionist that got the better of her.

My Dad and I went to Amsterdam for a cultural visit to as many museums and galleries as possible. The Zaan inn in Zaandam is a perfect destination just outside of Amsterdam right next to the railway station leading straight into Amsterdam Centraal station. Everything about the hotel was great. The rooms were very clean and tidy (I used to be a housekeeping manager for airline lounges). The customer service of the receptionists, bar staff, waiters and cleaners was a credit to Best Western and the hotel manager. (I am currently a Front of House Manager for a global brand). The food was excellent. The breakfast has enough choice to satisfy every appetite and the evening meal is also a pleasing experience after a long day touring the city. Hotel decor is very new and clean with a trendy contemporary feel to the place. I will be going back one day with my family of 4 including 2 children under 6 as the hotel was such an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

We stayed in a family suit with our 2 children. The suite consists of two spacious rooms, separated with a slide door. In one of the rooms was a kitchenette with microwave, sink and a dining table. The suite was clean, nice decorated and comfortable. Beds were huge! The hotel is 10 minutes walking from the central promenade of Zaan- city. There is a supermarket opposite the hotel, and a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

A lovely hotel with amazing staff. They were so helpful and informative. The hotel is only a 12 minute train ride into Amsterdam The train station is right beside the hotel It only costs €5.10 return And it's only €4.40 yo get to Schiphol airport. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. They have an indoor smoking room. The food in the restaurant was lovely and very reasonably priced. We will definitely stay here again

myself and my wife stayed here on a midweek break,the hotel seems to have gone through a make over,its realy nice and modern looking.1/2 minor downsides i booked a double room but when i got there i was told it was a twin room and would cost extra 10euros a night for doublewhich didnt say anywere ,was to wet and hungry to argue just paid wasnt letting it start my trip off on a bad note.ther is a supermarket 2 minutesnaway so my wife decided we get some wine and food and just relax innthe room for the first night,when i asked the hotel for 2wine glasses they said its notnour policybto do this so we hadnto use paper cups,but if your planning tonhave a drinkmin your room ther is a couple of nic nac shops 10 mins away in zaandam town to buy cheap classes,zaandam town is well worth a vist for some shopping,eating drinking,its a beautiful town small and walkable .from zaandam to amsterdam just get the train which is 5mins from the hotel,and 2 stops from train station,will cost you 6.20c return.you wouldnt be in holland if younwerent going amsterdam citynits a must to go see it,walk it,hop on hop bus it and cruise it,just do all you can you will be back though its that good loved it.we had food once in the ,itbwas okmvery ponsy for a hotel with no competitio,but head down zaandam town plenty of cafes,bars restaurants with goodnfood for good price,ther is also a primark/pennys in the town for any ladies and gents that know these shops my wife thought it was her birthday lol.the room in the hotel was lovly and spacious realy warm and cosy.overall enjoyed this hotel and zaandam town,nice little place if you dont want the citybcentre of amsterdam,the train station also goes direct to schipol airport around 15mins,taxis are expensive so get the train or bus everywere.would reccomend staying here,if budgeting but next time i go its amsterdam city all the way.

Location is absolutely great which was very near to the train station and a supermarket. The city center is just 2 stops from Zaandam station but the train tickets are abit expensive ( about €7.++ for return). So, you need to consider which is more cost saving, to stay in the city which cost much higher but save you all the transportation cost and traveling time or in zaadam. Would like to give this young, dark hair good looking guy some credits who was extremely friendly and gave us some advices on traveling to the city center and on day trips. Furthermore, without hesitation, he lend us their electronic luggage scale when we asked him if the hotel has any. There was another young guy who was Ok too but not the blonde hair lady was abit snobbish. Overall, the hotel was great, very clean, comfortable, and would recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a Europe road trip. Pros: + Free parking + Free WiFi + Supermarket 2min walking distance, ideal for pastries, water etc + 5mins walk to the train station. It takes you to central Amsterdam station In 15mins!!!! €6.20 return ticket + Kettle tea/coffee...this was very useful as we were having instant porridge in the morning + extremely clean room and bathroom. Not a single spec of dust or hair anywhere!!!! + front desk staff...Stan and louigi were extremely polite and friendly and said hello etc whenever we walked through reception. + across the other side of the train station there was zaandam town centre (10mins walk) So beautiful!! See pictures attached. Cons - hmmm...very hard to think of to be honest. Everything was perfect!!! Definitely book this place if you don't mind getting a train in. This is a good value hotel if you are driving to Amsterdam and would rather not pay for the exorbitant or, actually, non-existent parking in the city center. The rail station that takes you into the main Amsterdam station - one stop in between - is only a 3 - 5 minute walk and the fare is quite reasonable. Clean comfortable rooms, a nice restaurant and bar. To those of you with Apple products, to get wifi you need to use Safari to logon. We had to call the desk and then talk to the staff to learn how to logon. I'm not a tech novice but that should be explained to the guests (I guess it's a "European thing".

Well located, only 5 minutes walk from Zaandam station. The hotel is comfortable enough. The room was small, but big enough for a person alone. I was very disappointed with the free WiFi. It was so slow as to be essential unusable. Only one slot on the 4 slot toaster actually worked. Other than that, breakfast was nice enough, though it was sometimes hard to find a table which wasn't left uncleared.

Hotel is located close to the train station that will take you to Amsterdam Central Station in less then 15 minutes. Hotel is in the process of renovation but the rooms are quiet and beds are OK. Hotel provides free parking space, the staff was friendly and willing to provide necessary information. Would recommend to people who travel by car and plan to visit Amsterdam.

Zaan Inn is just good for a short business trip. When I arrived the check in went fast but had to climb up to the 5th level as the elevator broke down. Technician was on his way. Staff was always friendly. Every level I climbed up I always smelled the kitchen. When I stepped into my room it was ok. The room was bug enough with two single beds, a LED TV above a small desk. Nice brown colors which looks very modern. The shower was 1x1m but kind if dark in the corner even when you turn on the light. The bed was medium hard and I always had a good sleep. Do not open the window as I smelled the kitchen again. Maybe it was because my room (502) was on the fan side. Breakfast was simple but ok. 3 kinds of bread, hot fresh backed buns and croissants. Two kinds of sausages, two kind if cheese and yoghurt and some muesli. Hit and hard boiled eggs and cross bacon. Marmelade and some cookies. Orange juice and three other kinds and of course coffee. One morning I had breakfast and the lady didn't remove the used plates in front if me for about 20min. Parking for the car is free. You get a voucher to place behind the windshield. I have not been in the restaurant by every evening some people where there.

Stayed for one night at this relatively new (2012) hotel. Lobby already in renovation and many door posts needed a lick of paint as well. Beds are nice and firm - sleeping well. Tv set is really bad changing light intensity to minimum making almost invisible contrast. Wifi works but is dxtremely slow and i couldnt download dmail. Restaurant is nice andmeals taste good. Good selection of meat and fish. Nice local beer. Room is relatively small especially when you consider the distance from Amsterdam where you may find more spacious rooms for less.

Hotel looks modern, bar is in industrial design that could be cosier. Rooms and bed are large. Although you are near a train station, you don't hear the trains. The only minus was the breakfast; we had to wait more than 30 minutes for scrambled eggs. These scrambled eggs weren't made fresh; no the scrambled eggs were heated up in a oven! Just like the bacon! And that for EURO 12,50!
