I have been a guest in over 750 hotels in the past 30 years and the Genetti ,bar none, wins my vote for the most accommodating staff. Front desk agent Courtney should be elevated to management with her attention to guest needs and her perspicacity on solving problems. She literally saved me a week's worth of post work. The Genetti, a classic old world hotel offers a European style ambiance at a most reasonable rate. You can't go wrong selecting this hotel, trust me. Glenn Krausser Southern Hospitality
Although I love the history of this place, so disappointing how dirty it was. Entire hotel needs a vacuum! Toilets in room So old they look dirty. Staff super friendly. The history is amazing. Glad we stopped to stay the night. Just wish it was cleaner
Great old boutique hotel. Free parking and great buffet breakfast each morning. Many restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We stayed at the Genetti for 12 days during the LLWS. We had a great stay. If we come back to Williamsport we will definitely stay here!
Excellent, friendly staff! For an older motel, it's a great place to stay! Our every need was met.We have made the Genetti Hotel our "go to" place to stay every time we are in Williamsport Pennsylvania which is usually seven to eight times each year. We think it's the best hotel in Williamsport, PA!
Typically when you travel to a hotel you stay somewhere nicer than your own home. That was not the case here. The Genetti has definitely seen better days, and at one time it was likely a gorgeous hotel to stay in. Now? It's tired and needs updating and remodeling. I was given a king suite but there was nothing kingly about it. The walls had scuff marks and discolored paint and desperately needed a new paint job. The air conditioner obscured the two windows' bottom half, which meant I couldn't see outside, which left the room dreary since light was limited. The drop ceiling was discolored and disintegrating. The tiles need to be replaced (or removed entirely). Carpet was worn. The bathroom was tiny with the toilet a mere foot (or so) from the sink. The toilet also looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in quite a while (there was a dark spot in the bottom of the bowl that was questionable). The main light was so dim I had to turn on the heat lamp to see well with the door closed. Tub had marks on the bottom (I think there were nonslip strips at one point). We also didn't receive housekeeping (nor did a few others in our party). On a positive note, the hotel was relatively quiet (even during the Little League World Series). The restaurant was updated and the hotel breakfast was good, so at least the Genetti has that going for it.
Just an old tired hotel. Badly in need of maintenance and upgrading. Pleasant staff, but rooms are dirty, smell bad and most if not all in dire need of upgrading. They tried to put us in a 'suite' that hadn't been refurbished so we insisted on moving. They did move us one that had been refurbished. It was unacceptable also but we were stuck. We asked for extra sheets to put over the chairs they felt so dirty. We put down food for our dogs, shortly afterwards finding it with ants. Walked into the first room they offered us only to find a pair of dirty men's underwear on the floor. If you are going for the Little League World Series ( or any other reason) I suggest you stay away from this hotel. They have a 30 day cancellation policy during the tourney and if you book here, only to find out how bad it is when you arrive, you're stuck.
This hotel is also a low income apartment building. The tenants are up late being loud and kids are up past midnight in the apartment in 1002. The door between room 1006 and 1002 doesn't have a lock on it, they used a shoe string instead. It was very disturbing and I felt unsafe.
Our 2nd stay at the Genetti for the LLWS. Front row seat for the best parade = Grand Slam⚾️ Great complimentary breakfast. Fans and baseball family from the teams. Nice pool. We love historic hotels! SHOUTOUT 📣 to Stephanie and Grace in Sales, Tim at the front desk, Jennifer in the bar, our 3rd floor housekeeper who wrote us a note to say she hopes we are having a great time, Cheffie who made an awesome breakfast, Keon at the bar in the pin trading room, the blonde haired young lady who checked on us throughout breakfast and then cleaned up our table, and the facility guys for all the chairs and the attention to detail. Three short blocks to the LLWS bus for $10 for two weeks which is the only way to go. Pictured are two of the nicest most humble men on the planet - Tony Ojeda, 2024 LLWS community hero and Richard Horn, who played in the first LLWS in 1947. God bless you. Meeting you touched my heart.
Room was clean and as described. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superior to many "4 star" hotels, not to be missed. Nostalgic and quiet. Great value for the dollar. Walking distance to several restaurants and other in town establishments
Few hotels have the charm of the Genetti. When they updated it with modern amenities, they didn't lose the feel or the handsome antique furniture. Staff always are pleasant and very helpful. Excellent location in the heart of Williamsport. Park in the lot and walk to the restaurants, pubs, shops, and theaters. Or take advantage of the hotel's own Windows on 4th for food and drinks inside or cafe-style on the sidewalk. Nice outdoor pool, not the little indoor wading pool so many hotels offer. The two main elevators efficiently handle the traffic from the 10 floors with little wait or noise. Great views of the area from the upper floors. If you intend to use the pool a lot, or need to be close to the parking lot, I recommend one of the rooms listed with a view of the pool. That's a 2-story motel-like area. Otherwise, I recommend a room in the main part of the building, especially on the upper floors, for the view I mentioned. The regular rooms are cozy for a weekend stay. If you'll be there for a week, I recommend a suite, especially one with a kitchenette, which includes a small set of dishes as well as a small sink and stove with an oven, as well as the usual small fridge and full-size microwave. We've been staying at the Genetti roughly twice a year for about 5 years now. Rates always have been good. And it's very rare that a hotel provides a breakfast as good as this one. Where else do you get real, cooked eggs these days, not microwaved? Excellent facility.
Older facility but don't let that deter you!! It is in a great location, it has free parking. The rooms are large. The staff is exceptional! The hotel is clean. The hot breakfast is excellent with servers to assist you!! I would definitely stay there again!
The Genetti Hotel, part of the Sure Stay Collection by Best Western, is my favorite place to stay in the Williamsport area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly and attentive, the building itself is elegant and historically fascinating, the breakfast is freshly made and there is plenty of free parking. All this contributes to what I feel is a great value.
A very charming hotel. Not all rooms are available by elevator, so let them know when you are registering if you need an accessible room. I was surprised when we were told to go to end of hall and up the stairs. It was like only 1/2 a flight and added to the charm and layout of the hotel. Great location and parking.
Rooms small and not all items work. Lighting dim. A/c noisy. Friendly Hotel but room so small reminded me of jail cell. Only single bed but comfortable.
Beautiful place to visit, lots of parking, friendly staff. Clean large room. Many photos hanging on walls of famous people that visit the place. Nearby shopping that you could easily walk to. It's like a step back into the past. I could imagine all the people that stayed at this hotel. I would definitely recommend this place. I would love to go back and stay a bit longer. It felt like a home away from home. Very nice restaurant that served hot breakfast buffet and dinner also had a bar.
My stay was great, location was great, breakfast was lovely, always greeted by staff, could clean rooms a little better considering they allow animals in but great stay all in all I would recommend…..
It's like stepping into a whole other time period, beyond beautiful and refreshing the build gives such a wonderful feeling when you walk in. Staff are amazing, and if you appreciate and like different time periods this place will have you in awe at its Sophisticated era charm of its decade. Will always be one of my favorite places to stay in Williamsport every time.
Everything was Great. Matius and his coworkers went above and beyond. The food was good and rooms were nice. It's an older hotel with cool Vibes and a restaurant and bar in the building. Very happy with my trip
Historical, nice and clean with amazing staff and food on site. Perfect location for local restaurants, store, and venues of Williamsport. I went to college in the area and came for an unexpected overnight and to see a show. Perfect location within walking distance to the Community Arts Center and reasonably priced for a night.
Hotel is located near several restaurants (within walking distance), also has a restaurant onsite (good food). Older building with lots of history. Very clean, friendly staff, very helpful. We came as a couple (with friends), but would also recommend for a family. Family friendly activities also nearby.
The Genetti Best Western in Williamsport Pa is a fabulous place to stay and my friends and I have been staying there for many years. The accommodations are excellent and the staff go above and beyond. The price is reasonable and the breakfast is very good. I especially love the cheesy grits! We also appreciate the partnership the Genetti has with the Billtown Blues Society, providing a place for blues music to be heard and a place to stay after as well. We love it here.
It was a beautiful hotel, rich history, it had old world charm while being modern. The room was clean, and modern. Service was great, staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again, recommend to family and friends.
Love this old hotel.it has so much character.. great staff and I can't say enough about the complimentary breakfast!! So many great foods to choose from! All options available and you cannot leave hungry!
A Great Stay! Yes, hotel is older. So am I. But it is clean, well-maintained and in a good location. The price is perfect and we would definitely return. Our room was very large, clean and well-appointed. Bed was very comfortable. No complaints at all. Breakfast the next morning was included and was way better than most buffets.
Absolutely love old hotels, what a trip to the past! Downtown Williamsport was a little quiet, but we found great pubs and restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. Great breakfast spread with real eggs
Rooms are not those pictured on website. Nothing is as pictured. Rooms are dirty and gross. Mold in the shower. AC barely works in room. Staff is weird. Do not stay here!!! False advertising! Food at restaurants bar is terrible. I do not know how this hotel is still open. The shower is so small; anyone that is not skinny is not showering in there. I am thin and could barely turn around. Water pressure is good and hot but shower its self is small, moldy and gross. The room is not much better. Dirty. Kept my flip flops on.
I trust Trip Advisor for many hotel stays and restaurants wherever I go. However, I was extremely disappointed in the condition of the Genetti Hotel, based on the ratings. We were there 4 days for the LLWS, and I found it to be less than clean and with deferred maintenance. Unlike some reviewers, I do not excuse the condition because it is old…it is owned by a national chain and should be maintained. The furniture and carpet were stained, the door would not close without slamming it, the bathroom door would not close, there was rust at the bathtub and toilet drains, and mold in the bathrooms. Room service was offered every 3 days, and fresh towels were available if I walked to the front desk. The location was the best part of the hotel. Because of the added demand from little league World Series, costs were at least double, but staffing was not increased accordingly, based on staff comments and observations. It is time Best Western spends a lot of money to restore this hotel.
This used to be the “go to” hotel for the LLWS. This hotel is just tired. I liken it to a 45 old woman putting on her prom dress and acting like no time has part. This is what is seems The Genetti is trying do. Ownership spend the money and do a remodel, keep the nostalgia for about ten rooms to honor the past but get rid of tiredness.
This hotel is long overdue for basic feature upgrades: I admire that the building is 100 years old - but some of the rooms reflect neglect. It's time for an upgrade. Doors stick shut. Our toilet looked pre-historic. Some of the "antique" furniture is just old.
This is a classic old hotel. As such, many of the fixtures are dated. On one hand this adds to the charm yet also hampers inclusion of some modern amenities. For example, the bathroom in the room was extremely cramped and the heat/AC is one of those wall units. It was clean and well maintained and right across the street from vibrant night life. Easy parking in open lot. Terrific hot breakfast buffet included in the room price. Overall the price was great and I recommend it unless you care about the limitations I mentioned.
Very well priced unique rooms huge tub. Little dated but lots of history but in the 20's. Very good staff that know the hotel. Beautiful ball rooms for events. Very good hot breakfast served buffet style.
Hotel has history and lots of local shops and resturants right around the corner. Plus a bar inside hotel. The local attitude was great, had a live jazz band that played for the crowd in the alley where the fun spot is.
Although I arrived on a "First Friday" and the street leading to the hotel was closed, I eventually found the large free parking lot. The check-in staff was gracious, the room was very nice and I like to see a grand older hotel (the Genetti was originally the Lycoming Hotel built in 1922) restored and well appointed. The restaurant was very nice and there was a lively street concert and marketplace open all around the hotel.
great place, old world feel with pictures and furniture etc, My daughter thought we were staying at "The Shinning Hotel" front desk guys Mat ( yes has one T) and Tim were great to talk to,price was great, easy parking, very nice breakfast buffet
I strongly recommend the hotel Gennetti and Harrisport for families on vacation. The hotel has a great location in walking distance from the historic district, shopping amd dining. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean, and the service is excellent. The breakfast was great. Parking was easy.
Every time we visit family in upstate New York, we stop at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport on the way, not only because it's about half-way, but also because it's a neat hotel with a lot of character. There's a pool for the kids, a pub for the adults, and a real breakfast with real eggs and home-cooked food, all at a reasonable price--what more could you want?
This was the best pet-friendly hotel I have ever experienced. The pet fee and overall room rates were both very reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was awesome! The only criticism I have is that there was limited green space where my dogs could relieve themselves. Otherwise, this hotel was great! Vintage decor and secure off-street parking in a decent part of the city. I would definitely stay there again!
This hotel is not your typical hotel. It has some very interesting features. I was not a fan of the elevators (I am not a fan of any elevators though), they made too much noise for my comfort. The bed was very comfortable.
We travel a lot and stay at hotels frequently. This is the only one we stay at repeatedly throughout the year. Such a nice staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. The building itself is beautiful. The location is convenient for getting to anywhere you need to be.
I love this hotel. It's 100 year old tradition of great service continues and they are making improvements ( post pandemic ) every time I come back (6-8 times a year). The staff is fabulous, location couldn't be better, and the value is worth every dollar. I've been coming to Williamsport for years and won't stay anywhere else.
Returned home for a short visit to this historic hotel that I have never stayed at before but which I have had numerous breakfasts in during the past and found the accommodations and staff were excellent and price affordable. Location downtown is within walking distance of numerous great venues.
Very nice historical hotel conveniently located next to Williamsport Community Arts Center. Dinner and full breakfast buffet at hotel were very good. Hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas season. Lots of historical photos in hallway. Convenient parking area out back.
Loved the stay at Genetti's! Had a beautiful view from the room and having breakfast every morning was a huge plus - it was absolutely delicious! Also had dinner and drinks - YUM! The fish and chips highly recommended!
business.. the locations is good for evening activities... food, entertainment. also secure parking. the room was quiet. i like having a to room accommodations. I can heat the living room and not listen to the fan all night. .
Stayed at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport. Very nice hotel with a great restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Had an amazing time. Nice ambiance very relaxing weekend. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Would recommend it to anyone that likes to stay in a grand hotel.
The hotel is celebrating it's 100th anniversary and the rooms are a bit dated but it is clean and a real bargain. There is a secure parking area, a friendly front desk, nice lobby and the location is very convenient to downtown area. The breakfast was a real treat - good food and lots of options.
We checked in the front desk attendants were wonderful. Got to our room, and you could tell as soon as you opened the door it was fresh and clean. We didn't hear anyone in the halls, or beside us which was a plus for us. This hotel is conveniently placed in the center of town and has many places within walking distance.
Such a unique hotel experience - the building has such a rich community history and oozes charm and style. The staff were all friendly and helpful - from the front desk to the dining facilities. The breakfast was great and so was evening menu and service. Highly recommend
We stayed at the Genetti on a Friday evening before heading to State College for Penn State football. The ambience , the location ,and the price of the room made the stay quite comfortable. Even better, the Genetti is 1 hour from State College and much less expensive
My boyfriend and I stayed last night. First the room was terribly stuffy to the point I had to double up on my allergy medicine. We looked under the sheets when we first got into the room but never moved the sham at the bottom of the bed. I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and when I came back to the bed I noticed a black thing in the sheet. I immediately turned my flash light on my phone to inspect. Then I noticed more… I asked my boyfriend to look to make sure I was seeing correctly. He confirmed it was bugs. I called down to the front desk and told the gentleman and he came up to give us a new room and look for himself. He in fact said there were bugs but wasn't sure if it was a flea or bedbugs (pet friendly hotel). He walked us down to the next room and we denied it because we saw more bugs. Maybe they came with us from the first room or they were already there or because I was so upset about the first room. Regardless, I couldn't stay in that room. He went to another room and inspected it then walked us down. When we checked it I asked for a late check out and they said we could check out at 1pm. Because we started the moving around at 4am we slept in and when we were getting around I went and spoke to the house keeper to let her know we are leaving and would be out of there shortly (1:15). We got a call from the hotel while on the elevator but we told them we are on the way did to talk to them. We went to check out and to speak to the manager but when we got there she peered around the corner held her finger up and told the girl at the front desk she's on the phone. 10 mins later she finally was able to talk she said they called because check out was at 11am. She said that she didn't have any notes about the moves/bugs/late check out but heard there was an issue but denied there was bugs. She was talking to me as if we made the whole thing up with a condescending tone. Refused a compensation on the room because the lack of notes and they had to wait until their bug guy came to inspect. THE GUY TOLD US THEY WERE GOING TO SANITIZE THE ROOM AND THEN BRING THE STUFF WE LEFT DOWN. She said there was no cleaning done but yet was comfortable enough to bring our stuff down to the room we stayed in and left it inside the room while we were sleeping. ****We have called twice today and have been told they are looking into it****
This is an olde-worlde 10-storey hotel in the middle of the CBD. It looks like something out of the 1930s, all the styling and the space and the architecture, you could imagine people in 30s garb around every corner! Super quirky and a fun place to stay for a short while. The elevator still has black plastic buttons unlighted. There is no ability to drive in at reception as there is with hotels outside a CBD, so you either have to already know where the hotel's car park is, or find a park in the street and go to reception. We did the latter. Checkin was smooth, instructions for getting to the car park (right behind the building) are clear, the parking is plentiful and free, and there are plenty of luggage carts to help get you to your room. The car park is in the open, so its harder if its raining, but this is no different to most Best Westerns or for that matter other chains. Its quite a walk from your car to the elevators, maybe 100m from one end of the building to the other. Pros: • A quirky hotel with olde worlde charm and smells. Lots of photos of all the celebs from the past that stayed here • Loads of free parking • Internet is reliable and fast enough • Room contains 2x queen beds, microwave, fridge, desk, chair, as per a typical chain hotel room. Being in an olde worlde building, the rooms are alite cramped compared to new purpose-built hotels • Both pro and con: Bathroom is really old, maybe even 30s style, but super clean and everything works well • Heating works well • Close to Bullfrog Brewery (like, 90 seconds walk away) • Lady at reception friendly and helpful • Decent view from the 7th floor • Pool probably ok, didn't try it, and no one would unless it was mid summer • Shower pressure excellent • Beds and pillows comfortable Cons: • Some road noise but not a lot • Bit of a rabbit warren, and the corner rooms are accessed via their own separate nooks as was the olde worlde style • No coffee or tea in reception • Area is strangely deserted, including during business hours Typical buffet-style breakfast and typical of a Best Western in quality, overall: • The exception: they had two varieties of scrambled eggs, both of which looked lovely. I had the red and green peppers version • A couple of different decent breads so I had rye toast • Apart from that there wasn't much o Some plain yoghurt in a big mixing bowl for you to spoon out for yourself o Pre-cooked pancakes o Apples and bananas o Juices and coffees o 3 varieties of sugary cereals o Plastic cutlery • They made it very clear you should leave a tip, by giving you a bill for a full breakfast amount, and then showing 100% credit because of the room
The staff are what made my stay truly extraordinary - from joking witht the male receptionist about his singing (or lack thereof) to the wonderful way the staff came together to listen and resolve the two minor issues I had (noise)
This hotel is an older property that works very hard to please its guests. It is super clean and well maintained. Staff members were welcoming and professional. The lobby area had good seating arrangements for gatherings. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom, though small, had plenty of towels! Breakfast was superb with many hot choices as well as fruits and juice.
The Genetti Hotel is a delightful place to stay, in a cute walkable town, it has old time character, delicious food in the restaurant and caring, thoughtful staff! The staff engaged with us in every area we were in, complete with a sample of a beer the restaurant manager overheard us chatting about!
The rooms are a bit small, but is has the charm and decor of a hotel from Europe. The location is the best in the city with several restaurants and a brewery within walking distance. Even Millionaire's Row is within walking. The hotel staff was friendly. The price comes with free breakfast. I plan on staying again.
Only was in town for the one night but will return .room was big and clean hotel staff welcome me with a smile and a will do anything attitude to make my stay pleasant. Hotel restaurant made me a great steak salad. Great walk around town store fronts take you back in time ,details on the brick building showed the craftsmanship of yesterday.
This hotel was recommended to me by others who have stayed there. I had a great experience during my 2-day stay on business. Genetti is right downtown, convenient to everything, including the great Bullfrog Brewery which is just around the corner. The rates are very reasonable. I appreciate the historic character of the hotel and the efforts made to preserve that character. Photos, memorabilia, and furnishings all enhance the property. The ambiance is very cool. Ownership and staff pay close attention to detail. I noticed constant cleaning and polishing in public areas. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a 2-room King suite which was wonderful, it really enhanced my stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. As a historic city hotel the rooms are not huge and the bathroom is rather tiny but who cares? The only somewhat negative comments I would make is that the window frames in my room could use a coat of paint but this is really nitpicking. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who finds themself in Williamsport on business or pleasure.
Old School Classic railway style hotel. The accommodations are a bit tired however they doing an excellent job of keeping this classic hotel relevant. The complimentary breakfast is a proper buffet. Far superior to the usual chain hotel casual breakfast fare. Staff were very helpful and polite. Everyone was trying to make our stay the best it could possibly be.
Great Breakfast Buffett and Clean Rooms! Hot Water Shower with good pressure. Nice for the area and great local places to visit. Huge Parking Lot. In Hotel is a restaurant and bar which has so many choices for Alcohol beverages. Breakfast staff is TOP Notch, nothing like any other Hotel and we been to many!
This best western is filthy, very old and I would not touch one item in it. There's not much I can say it was dark green and burgundy. It was scary, dirty and pathetic. The en suite tub in the room was falling apart and dirty.
Stayed only one night, but enjoyed our time there. Photos in the lobby area are very impressive; many famous people visited the hotel. Staff was very friendly. Room was comfortable. Nice location downtown. Breakfast that was included in the room rate was great. Just know that the hotel is over 100 years old, so don't expect modern amenities and furnishings.
Step back in time and enjoy staying at this century old hotel located in such a prime part of town. Walking distance to everywhere you want to go! Breweries, Otto's bookstore, Wegmans, Millionaires Row~ or just lounge by the pool! Perfect unexpected getaway!
Very comfortable beds, friendly staff, FREE full breakfast, vintage charming furniture in a grand old hotel. Quiet rooms, good internet, nice TVs, frig & microwaves. Pet friendly & I saw 4 dogs who were very well behaved!!
Great hotel. Great location, great staff great history. Staff was very helpful and professional from the front desk to housekeeping. Great accommodations. Room was spacious and breakfast was great. Always hot and delicious.
Great hotel where everything is within walking distance. Very nice rooms and amenities. Safe secure parking lot & great free breakfast in the morning. Always a relaxing stay at this hotel. Lots of old history to look at.
This hotel by far had the best breakfast buffet of any Best Western I had ever stayed at. Nothing was precooked it was all cooked fresh that morning . Amazing ham and eggs and other side dishes including blueberry waffles and hash browns!
The Genetti Hotel is a memorable historic hotel in quaint and scenic Williamsport, PA. During the past couple of years, we'd driven past this hotel several times on our travels between WNY and Baltimore, MD. Never had it failed to catch our attention. We'd always say, “We'll have to stay there one day.” On our most recent trip, we decided to do so and, due to our very enjoyable and memorable stay, we've decided to do so again on our next trip. This past Saturday evening, when I walked through the front door of the Genetti Hotel for the first time, I stepped into a century old hotel. The lobby, which had been redone over the decades, was still visually interesting with creamy white walls, very high ceilings, rich red carpeting, massive crystal chandeliers, and comfortable furniture groupings. To my left, there was a half staircase that led down to a street level restaurant with an open wall of glass doors (bringing inside out and outside in) and a crowd of patrons enjoying themselves. To my right, there was a long corridor that led to the outdoor pool and fenced and gated parking lot. Straight ahead of me, there was a reception desk with a warm and welcoming night clerk. At first sight of me (I'd been on the road for a few days), he assigned a favored room to me, which I much appreciated. We parked in the fenced and gated parking lot behind the hotel. On our way in, as we passed the outdoor swimming pool, I noticed people enjoying themselves swimming, lounging on chaises, and sitting at tables. BTW, there is a visually interesting motel (with a 1960s Howard Johnson Motor Lodge look with large curtained glass windows for each room) attached to the back of the hotel and overlooking the pool. We entered the hotel through the back double doors inside of which, for the guests, there were waiting luggage carts with old-fashioned brass handles. As we walked down the long corridor toward the lobby, we paused to glance at the many wall photos of famous people who've stayed at the hotel (e.g., Eleanor Roosevelt, Cy Young, Barry Goldwater). At the bank of elevators in the lobby, I couldn't help but notice the antique Cutler Mail Chute (with all its brass and glass) on the wall between the elevators. The Otis elevator came quickly and was smooth and steady on the ride up. Our room was on the sixth floor. The sixth floor corridor was visually interesting with high ceilings, rich red carpeting (i.e. the same as in the lobby), dim lighting (giving it a romantic air), and many doors and doorways that led to guest rooms and service areas. As when I'd walked into and through the lobby, I knew I was in a memorable historic hotel. Our room was at the end of a corridor. It was a good-sized corner room with high ceilings, three large windows on two walls, and a formal, elegant look. Here were the furnishings: two four-poster queen beds; desk with desk lamp, desk chair, and large mirror over the desk; eye-catching, kidney bean shaped chest on which a large television sat; easy chair; three end tables, two of which had table lamps (and the third of which could use a table lamp); connecting door with full-length beveled mirror; and hotel room-sized black refrigerator and microwave. All of the surfaces, including the desk, tables, bed linens, television clicker, and refrigerator, looked clean to the eye and felt clean to the touch. In the entranceway to our room, there were two antique doors on opposite sides. I turned the doorknob and opened one of the doors. It opened to a small, but very inviting and visually interesting, bathroom in golds, greens, and grays. The intricate tile floor, old-fashioned porcelain toilet, cast iron tub, and marble tub surround appeared to be original (and looked as good as the day they were installed during the early 1920s because, in those days, things were built to last forever). The vanity was small, likely because it replaced an original pedestal sink, but we had no need for a larger one. Behind me, I turned the other doorknob and opened the other door. It opened to a closet with a light (although the bulb was burned out) and large enough to use as a dressing room. We went out for pizza and discovered that Williamsport, PA was a delightful surprise. Many quaint shops, cozy pubs, and fine restaurants surrounded the hotel. And, there was a Wegmans market just a short drive away. After eleven, when we returned to the hotel, people were still enjoying themselves swimming in the pool, reclining on chaises, and sitting at tables, and people were still enjoying themselves at the bar in the street level restaurant. If I hadn't been so completely exhausted from our travels, I might've joined them in the pool or at the bar. During the night, our room was quiet and peaceful, presumably because of the thick plaster walls. The beds were comfortable (although not luxurious). The bed linens were clean and fresh. The large a/c window unit was quiet and kept the temperature at a constant, comfortable level. All three windows had dark drapes (although two of the three windows didn't have shades). I slept almost eight hours straight when I usually sleep no more than five. And, my family members slept on after I'd awakened. In the bathroom, the water was hot and the water pressure was satisfactory. The shampoo in the little courtesy bottle was good quality. Like the bed linens, the pristine white towels were clean and fresh. However, because there was no fan in the bathroom, the steam was thick (and a steam build up over time had caused the start of some mold spots on a small part of the bathroom ceiling, but I'd seen the same just the night before at a common mid-level chain hotel). Also, because there was no soap dish or shelf in the marble surround, there was only the tub or vanity for the bottle of shampoo and bar of soap. Anyway, for me, nothing detracted from my first favorable impression of the bathroom. After showering and dressing, I went downstairs for the complimentary breakfast. It was offered in the street level restaurant, which appeared to be open only to the hotel guests at that time of day. The aroma of the hot food enticed me. Inside, the restaurant looked like an English Tudor pub with a variety of comfortable eating spaces. The manager welcomed me at the door and, when I hesitated to take a table because my family hadn't yet come down, he said, “Come in for a cup of coffee while you wait.” I went in for a cup of coffee, but when I saw the grand buffet of offered breakfast items, I decided not to wait for my family. Here were some of the items on offer: scrambled eggs; scrambled eggs with onions and peppers; glazed ham (warming in the glaze); banana waffles and maple syrup; home fries; biscuits and gravy; oatmeal, granola, and other cereals; cornbread; yogurt; hardboiled eggs; bagels and breads; muffins and pastries; butter, cream cheese, and jellies; orange, apple, cranberry, and grapefruit juice; coffee and tea; and milk and cream. I had the scrambled eggs with onions and red peppers (they were real eggs, not powdered eggs), home fries (they were perfectly seasoned), banana waffles (they had an intriguing hint of banana), glazed ham (it was mouthwatering), cornbread (it was the best cornbread I've ever had), and coffee (which met my incredibly high standard). It all tasted freshly made from scratch, and it all tasted absolutely delicious. And, it was served on warmed china plates, in china cups, in good-sized juice glasses, and with stainless steel utensils. My family joined me and, while I went back for seconds on several of the items, they went for firsts, then seconds. The hostess and busboy were as warm and welcoming as the manager. And, the table, chairs, and entire serving area looked clean to the eye and felt clean to the touch. We were in no hurry to leave the Genetti Hotel and actually stayed until checkout time at 11:00 a.m. When I did check out, the day clerk at the reception desk was as warm and welcoming as the night clerk, even though she had a number of guests all showing up at the same time. For the first time, I noticed the original, intricate tile floor behind the reception desk, which wasn't covered by the lobby carpeting (I'd earlier noticed this original, intricate floor in several of the wall photos). As I was turning away, the day clerk handed two small boxes of powder laundry detergent to the next guest; so, I assume guests can do their laundry at the hotel. Here's the bottom line on the Genetti Hotel: If you prefer all things modern, if you've enjoyed your stay at common chain hotels in the past, if you expect every room to be identical, if you want a large modern bathroom with a double vanity and a large over-the-vanity mirror, if you're okay with a boring breakfast (e.g., cereals in small boxes, juices from a machine, waffles/pancakes that you have to stand over after pouring batter from a machine, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, and pastries in plastic bags, microwaveable breakfast sandwiches in paper, coffee that you toss after a few sips) served on paper plates and in plastic cups with plastic utensils, if you want an ordinary and unmemorable experience (i.e. one you won't remember the day after you've left the hotel), you likely wouldn't enjoy a stay at the Genetti Hotel. However, if you want to step back a century in time while also enjoying some modernizing modifications since then, if you want to sleep in a four-poster bed, if you want a hotel that has a century of experience catering to guests, if you want to eat a breakfast that is freshly made from scratch and tastes absolutely delicious, if you want to drink your coffee/tea from a china cup, eat your breakfast off a warmed china plate with stainless steel utensils and drink your juice out of a good-sized juice glass, if you want a unique and memorable experience (i.e. one you'll remember always after you've left the hotel), not only will you enjoy your stay, but you'll want to return to the Genetti Hotel!
My family stayed here on our way to Maryland and it was beautiful. Great room, beautiful pool, delicious breakfast, wonderful staff! They do many extra touches to make it feel like you are at home. We were very pleased with our stay.
Genetti Hotel was a great place for a 1 night stay. Staff is very very friendly . This is an “old school” hotel with plenty of charm and history. Our queen room was neat, clean and had a good view of the mountains. Located in downtown area, east to walk around. Complimentary breakfast was fantastic, Sandy our waitress was very friendly. The breakfast is elaborate and very good, not like chain motel complimentary breakfast. We enjoyed fresh scrambled eggs, cheesy grits, home fries and fried ham. Hotel bar runs drink specials 6 nights or the week, remember bar and restaurant are closed on Sunday so plan accordingly. Wish we could personally name All the people who made this a great choice, we will return.
We stay at this hotel fairly frequently. It is a beautiful property. The staff is friendly. The facility is clean. The breakfast is amazing. The Genetti Hotel never disappoints. Thank you for your unwavering excellence in customer service.
Filthy bathroom which has cracks , holes in the walls , rust all over the toilet handle and tossing box dispenser. I accidentally touched it and it was disgusting. Toilet wouldn't flush the whole stay. I reported it and all they did was keep plunging it but didn't fix it. Room was old and the lack of paint and broken walls in the bathroom looked like what one would see in a cracked house. I went to see weird al Yankovic and the hotel was next door. I stayed there out of convenience. I'd probably stay elsewhere if I had a chance to come back for another show. FIX YOUR ACT! RENOVATIONS ARE URGENT!
The Genetti Hotel staff did a wonderful job making us feel welcome the one night we stayed. The hotel is a little older but that adds to its charm. It was quiet and accessible to local attractions. The breakfast buffet was a delicious way to end our stay.
This is a lovely old hotel with lots of character. The staff was helpful and the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was quite good. The overall vibe is fun and I enjoyed myself. There were also problems. The room we reserved (3 beds) was switched to one with 2 beds. This was fixed, no problem. But our 3 bed room had the most pungent body odor smell--think developing nation 3rd class long-distance train car. Seriously, it was bad. Also bathroom lights were broken and only partially fixed when we complained. Vanity sink was lacking the cover on the drain. The gravity of the drain hole was extreme and captured several toothpaste tube tops--lost forever. Overall, I did enjoy the stay, but a serious renovation is in order.
We stayed at the Genetiti recently in a cross-country road trip. The rooms are spacious and lovely. The staff is very nice. The town, however, is smaller than thou in all senses of the term. Knowing it was small, we chose Genetti because it advertises itself as having a bar and restaurant. We'd driven though storms all day only to find that the restaurant had closed before 9 pm, and they refused to give us so much as a sandwich even though we were staying there and of course would have paid. Very poor show, especially since they KNEW that there was no place open in the ENTIRE TOWN.
Excellent hotel - clean room, great staff, delicious breakfast, and a central location. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel is 100 years old and has that “old classic hotel” charm - you can see what it would have been like in all its original glory!
This is a historic hotel that was certainly interesting, but with all the choices in Williamsport, I wouldn't return. I actually slept fine, but the pics would have led me to believe it was recently renovated, which my room was not. The ceilings were high and there was a great view from the room, which were pluses. The room was a decent size and the WiFi worked well. Parking is free in the large lot. If you want to walk around the town, the location is very good. The room was dreary though, as were the hallways. It had slightly peeling wallpaper and lots of nicks and peels in the paint/woodwork. The TV was too small and the remote would control volume/channels but not power. A/C worked fine but was quite loud. I kind of hated the bathroom. Other than the faucets and the light fixture, it wouldn't appear to have been renovated since the 60s at the latest. The shower head was really low and there was pink tile everywhere. The backless (!) toilet was permanently scratched with brown stains which was off putting. Seemed to be the old 5 gallon per flush variety. Williamsport is a convenient stopping place on the drive from Toronto to Frederick with lots of hotels and some cool restaurants like the Bullfrog Brewery a block away. I think I saved a few bucks trying Genetti, but next time I'll likely return to TownPlace which we loved last trip.
Super clean, excellent customer service, great food, in downtown Williamsport, home of the little league world series. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel. Family friendly, too! And pet friendly rooms
Because we're Best Western members, we were given an upgrade, since they needed one more of the type of room we had booked. Such a treat! Love the pool. Love the diversity of the staff and guests. Love the history of this place. Will be back!
I guess I have a different standard for hotels, but this place left a lot to be desired. The parking was easy in the parking lot, so no complaints there. That's about where the good things end. I thought the hotel looked cool from the outside, but I was surprised at how dated the hotel looked. I've stayed at plenty of historic hotels across the world that have been beautifully restored and maintained. This is not one of them. First impressions are everything and I didn't find it classy, unlike other reviewers. After I checked in, I headed to the elevator to head up to my room. It was quite rickety, but I guess that's what comes with an older hotel (though it doesn't have to). My room was located near the elevator. I could tell the walls were thin and that I'd be hearing the elevator all night trying to sleep. The room was tiny. I could barely maneuver myself and my suitcase into the room. I used the bathroom, which again, was a challenge to get in. I can appreciate historic charm and thought some of the touches were...quaint. I was willing to overlook all of this but noticed that the room just wasn't very clean. I didn't even want to go through the trouble to move to another room. I grabbed my suitcase and booked another room in another hotel in Williamsport. It was a massive upgrade for not that much more money. Sucks to have sunk money into a hotel that I didn't end up staying in, but I had a wonderful stay at the other hotel. I can't speak to the dining options because I didn't eat there. There are lots of restaurants and coffee options within walking distance.
Was a fun stop, the history was fun to explore and the staff was really great. Need to remember the hotel is 100 years old so the bathroom is small and the appointments follow suit. But if you keep that in mind, we enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is very well maintained and has the old time charm. Great parking lot behind hotel. Walking distance to many breweries and restaurants. The breakfast was a nice plus and was great. Nice central location. Definitely would stay again.
This is a 100 year old hotel, but the condition is excellent. It is a great value. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Delicious breakfast. many restaurants in the area including a very cool micro-brewery right across the street. Will make Genetti's my home in Williamsport on my next visit.
This property should be gold standard and a model for what a SureStay property can be. Other GM's and management from other Best Western properties should be invited to stay and see just how great a place can be. Hopefully, this hotel will be around for many years to come as I plan to be back again and again when passing through the Williamsport, PA area.
The best hotel in Williamsport! It's old, it's unique but classy. You can walk to most places from this hotel. Whether it's entertainment at the Community Arts Center(right next door), many restaurants nearby or shopping from clothes to Antiques. You will be happy you stayed at the Genetti Hotel.
I consider staying at this hotel like a second home. I enjoy the people and location of the hotel. The suite that we stayed in was very clean and I enjoyed having two televisions, one for the living room and bedroom. I just have one complaint, the toilet in the bathroom was to small. That toilet is perfect for a toddler but not an adult. Overall stay was great! I will be back.
clean and convenvient. great breakfast. free appetizer at the restaurant. location was easy for everything. free parking. staff was friendly..lobby was busy as times with lots of events but not bad..would go back
Do not expect perfect modern rooms - it is an old hotel which was expected. Bathroom shower tile floor was very cracked. Adjoining room walls are not at all soundproof - neighbor snored so loud it seemed like his was in our room! Complimentary breakfast was really good with a nice variety.
The Genetti is my go to hotel when I visit family in the Williamsport area. It is convenient to route 220, restaurants and Wegmans grocery. Rooms are comfortable but not fancy. The price is very reasonable.
We went for a college visit and stayed here for one night. The staff was very accommodating. The hotel offers gated parking for guests. It is a huge hotel which looks to have been something amazing in its day. They have done some modern renovations to the hotel however I can imagine due to its age some things would be hard to modernize and maintain. The location offers dining and shopping. Overall I am happy with the hotel and if my daughter does attend Penn Tech I would stay here again during visits.
I can not rave enough about our 2 night stay! We went in early, about 2 hours before check in to see if we could just park in the free lot. She not only gave me the warmest reception I've ever had, she checked with housekeeping and let us get to our room early. I had asked for a crib, it was there already (she radioed to check) and even gave us a corner room so we could have more room with our child!! Housekeeper, Elena was absolutely adorable, so kind & chatted with us. We even got a rubber ducky for bath time! Clean, old but beautiful and well maintained. We can't wait to come back!
The hotel is clean and well maintained. It has a 100 year old charm mixed with all the modern amenities. A creative mix of old and new. Helpful staff and located within walking distance of the downtown loaded with restaurants, bars and some shopping.
Overnight stay on our way back to Canada. Charming older hotel. Clean and comfortable. Located in the heart of downtown. Plenty of parking. I booked through a 3rd party and there was a bit of a mix up with the reservation date. Sara and Alicia in reservations did a great job of fixing things for us. Very happy with our stay and will stay here again as we quite often use Williamsport as our last stop when returning from the south.
We stayed for an overnight at this wonderful hotel. The hotel celebrates 100 years in 2022. The main tower is original. If you like European style, this is the hotel for you! The rooms are a bit dated but have great internet and TV as well as lots of outlets! The restaurant reminded us of the many places we visited in Germany. The breakfast was fabulously European.
The complimentary breakfast is the best ever !!! The Genetti is a one hundred year old Heritage Hotel, so do not expect "cookie cutter" (all the same) accommodations. The superior staff and ongoing updates make The Genetti a delightful experience.
Always curious about the hotel after years of traveling and seeing that cool neon red Genetti Hotel sign on top of the hotel. Well we made it last August and loved it and stopped here again on our way to Skaneateles, NY. We got room 906, the Lucille Ball room with nice views of Williamsport and the Susquehanna River. Built in 1922, it has such character, that the sterile chain motels can't match and the prices are reasonable. The location downtown is fantastic, within a few blocks of many restaurants, breweries and historic sites. The hotel and surrounding area has a nice vibe. Nice swimming pool and convenient parking lot. Look forward to a return visit.
Sorry, but I said it all in my Title. We may come again in June to celebrate with them on their 100th birthday. Every staff member we spoke with was so proud to be working in such an historical setting.
We need to stay 2 nights for a visit to Landmark College. We chose the Genetti for the low price, but I would happily come back again because the room was very comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the fresh free breakfast was better than the typical free breakfast at hotels (freshly cooked real scrambled eggs). The hotel was convenient to the highway and numerous restaurants were within easy walking distance.
I only live an hour away but a storm left us w/o power and heat so I ended up spending the night here as it's close to work. I knew of the Genetti and had been there for meetings, but never an overnight. It's dated but in a mostly adorable way. Only complaints were that the hallway (8th floor) had a bad smell and the bathroom lighting is really bad/dark. Oh, and the towels are those cheap, thin white ones. But for $73 you get what you get. I'd stay again if I find myself needing last-minute lodging.
I have always wanted to stay at the Genetti because it looks very charming from the outside. Unfortunately, maintenance and cleaning seem to have fallen by the wayside. In the first room I was assigned I found a live cockroach. The front desk agent seemed ill prepared when I reported this, and only upon my request for a new room did he realize what to do. In my second room, the commode did not adequately flush and the shower took nearly 5 minutes to get hot. I've stayed in plenty of historic hotels that were able to deliver an acceptable bathroom experience. The same front desk agent also did not know the hours for the in-house restaurant and seemed unsure when they would close. Based on the unclean and overall run down conditions of the hotel, I would struggle to recommend it to a friend or family.
Whenever we visit family in Williamsport we always stay the the Genetti. Have been doing so for 40 years. Centrally located makes easy access to anything in the area. Always clean and the staff responsive! Plus the included Breakfast Buffet is great!!
The price was right. The location was right for what we wanted to see and do. Free parking and breakfast were included. Nice mini-fridge in the room. We had a small room on the 9th floor with a queen-sized bed. Good for one night in town. My husband was fine with the comfort of the bed, but I was not.
I have stayed at the Gennetti many times in the past. It is my first choice when in Williamsport. The Hotel is unique with a history of the area. Especially with Little league baseball. The location is great and staff are exceptional. This is an older hotel. That is so well kept. Clean and the rooms are beautiful.
We were traveling East from Pittsburgh to New York and decided not to drive the whole thing in one day. While en route, we found an excellent deal on this hotel and just booked it...our expectations were minimal, we just needed a stopover spot. What a pleasant surprise! The room was truly more like a suite, which classic antique furniture and decorations. Our first room had a smell of perfume which bothered my wife, so we called down and they immediately changed it to a new room with no complaint whatsoever. The bar downstairs was a delight, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the location couldn't be better for accessing the great restaurants nearby. The morning breakfast, included with the room, was another great surprise...so much attention to detail and different tastes! We wish we could stay longer. The mission statement posted in our room from Gus Genetti states, “we hope that you will be comfortable and happy as if you were in your own home.” We found that he and his staff have truly succeeded in that mission.
All staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. Check in was very easy. Parking in the back of the hotel is convenient. Being downtown provides access to the sites in the city. Very interesting hotel with it's history. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hot breakfast was very good, especially since it is included with your stay. All the staff made us feel we were important and appreciated. I would highly recommend the Genetti if you plan to stay in Williamsport!
The Genetti was built in 1922 as the Lycoming Hotel. Even though being updated it still retains its stately mantel. Situated in the old downtown area which has been gentrified, numerous nice restaurants are within easy walking distance, not to mention the one in the hotel which is very nice and convenient. JBS.
Spent 2 weeks at Genetti while visiting family. It was clean, well appointed and there was coffee available all day. The internet connection was good when I needed to do work. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The building shows its faded elegance and charm beautifully. The staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms are comfortable. Pictures throughout the property tell you about the glory days of the hotel. Parking is free and the room rates are reasonable. Thank goodness it does not have the corporate blandness of a cookie-cutter chain.
This 100 year old Hotel is 5 star, 1st class service, beautiful old charm, period furniture, clean, priced right. Delicious hot breakfast on a beautiful restaurant, ballrooms and the pride of Williamsport. Exquisite !! We will be back for our stay in suite #320.❤
This is an old fashioned 100 year old hotel with a grandfather clock in the lobby and autographed pictures of Cy Young on the walls. The service was great, the breakfast was amazing and the room was really clean.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. Very spacious and clean rooms. Super comfy bedding. Quiet. The front desk was extremely welcoming and nice. Restaurant on site with very friendly and helpful wait staff. Fantastic hot breakfast.
This is our second visit to the Genetti and again we were blown away with the exceptional service. Some of the faces have changed, but one thing remains the same, they are family. When they say "welcome home", they mean it. The rooms are immaculate and warm, the front desk service is exceptional. We were greeted on arrival by Alicia who welcomed us back. Gemma our waitress is a familiar friend who is excellent and professional. Lacy and Vanessa are great bartenders who make a great old fashion. Shout out to Kevin at the front desk at night, he is very charming and talked to us for hours our last night as we celebrated our wedding anniversary. This will be our anniversary stop for years to come, love Williamsport, and our second family at the Genetti. Love and respect, Mr and Mrs Chewning room 902
Stayed here at length at least twice this year during the sickness and death of an Aunt. During these trying times, the staff and service was excellent, not adding to our woes (which they were mostly unaware of, so one must assume this is their normal mode). This apparently was once the areas grand hotel but has aged well (rooms were European-sized and missing some modern features, but were clean and well-kept). This last trip we didn't even try to look at other options, because of our previous experience and the price we got on-line. Plus, they are conveniently located near our destination. They have a nice buffet breakfast now that their restaurant is open. I'd recommend this highly if you can get a deal on-line.
Great experience! 100 year old hotel so remember that. It will have its quirks. AMAZING staff!! Good hotel breakfast food, close proximity to shopping, bars, restaurants, groceries and AMAZING architecture.
Stayed here for a long weekend getaway and to explore the nearby PA Grand Canyon. Loved all the photos on the walls walking into the lobby from the parking lot… photos of famous guests over the years. We really did love the old feel of the hotel. We reserved a queen room online through the website the week prior. When we checked in and got to our room it was definitely not a queen. More like a full. (I said maybe it was a queen bed back in the day..) The bed wasn't uncomfortable at all, just hard to adjust from a king at home to barely a full size. The room was small overall but again the hotel is 99 years old so I get it. It was nice to have a fridge in the room. I will say that the water pressure in the shower was FANTASTIC! Definitely a plus! When we checked in we were given our room key and 2 cards for breakfast but not told anything about breakfast. We had to come back later and ask. Breakfast was a hot breakfast buffet in the attached restaurant. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Each morning we were there, there was something empty on the buffet, typically the meat and the pancake/French toast option. For those of us who don't eat eggs, this makes it tough. The coffee was very hot which is great but the mugs were very small. Again glad it was a hot breakfast but it needs some work. Saturday night while we were there, there was a wedding in the ballroom. We could here the music and bass very loudly in the hallway (2nd floor) and the bathroom of our room. It wasn't bad in the room itself. No major complaints. We would stay here again if in the area. A king bed next time though.
My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2021. We came at the last minute because the place we had booked ended up being both dirty and unsafe. The Genetti was fabulous, the person who checked us in was kind and helpful,he gave us a lower rate than we had seen on Orbitz because we were staying multiple nights. The room was well appointed and CLEAN. The room came with a complimentary breakfast that was lovely. All of the staff we encountered were helpful. When we extended our stay we were upgraded to a wonderful suite at no additional charge, We will stay here again and look forward to booking our stay for our daughters graduation. Cannot say enough about how this hotel stand s out. We have stayed in several hotels in Lewisburg, the town of our daughters school, the 20 minute drive to Williamsport is so worth it. So many charming restaurants in walking distance to the hotel, easy parking and a nice staff!
Recently stayed at the hotel while visiting my daughter at the local college. The hotel is in perfect location in Williamsport. You can walk to the local restaurants. Hotel has its own parking lot at the rear of the hotel. Check in was quick and staff very friendly. I had a room on the 2nd floor in the main part of the hotel. It appears that there are also rooms connected to the hotel but are motel style. These rooms are by the pool. My room was a decent size with super high ceilings however the bathroom was very small. Although the room was clean I felt the carpet could use a good shampooing and bathroom shower a bit more attention. There is no countertop space in the bathroom. There is a small cabinet over the bathroom sink to put items in. Hotel does offer full hot breakfast buffet in the restaurant ( closed to outside public for breakfast) on the lower level of the hotel .
Friendly staff, except for restaurant. I requested a room change because I always ask for a quiet room away from the elevators. This one was right next to the hallway and I could hear the "ding" of the elevator in the room. They did change it and it was much better. 4 stars is for the price of the room.
Booked online- hotel looked nothing like pictures. Called to ask if parking was close, I am traveling solo, lugging in dog and big suitcase, it was late in the evening. I arrive, dark parking lot, long distance to front desk, woman in lobby with raised voice yelling about someone calling her family and being underage, sketchy giy from hotel bar hanging around front desk. Lobby is old, not well lit, creepy. Lobby and hallway to room smell musty and of stale smoke. Elevator was old and rickety, floor swayed. Down long empty hall to room, light at door did not work. I had to walk in dark room to turn on lamp. Ratty old sofa with a slipcover over it, large black fridge in sitting area??? Room was very dated, smelled musty. I return to front desk, said this is not for me, very kind front desk clerk walked me to my car. It reminded me of the movie the shining!!!
What a pleasant surprise! Looking for a place to stay in central PA, I wanted to stay somewhere with more character than a motel by the side of Route 80. By taking a short detour, I was able to find the fantastic Genetti Hotel. The sign in the parking lot announces "Welcome Home" - and I really did feel like I was staying with someone's grandparents. The rooms are very spacious, and the bathrooms are designed like those in a house, not the minimal design found in so many hotels. The room is super quiet: the town itself is already pretty quiet, and the walls are thick. I felt like I was the only person in the building. The restaurant is recently renovated, and is a REAL restaurant, not a nook or food on the counter in the lobby. A full, hot, buffet-style breakfast is included in the room rate, and elevates an already great hotel experience. Plenty of restaurants are within walking distance and, for those on a budget, a Wegmans grocery store is only a few blocks away.
We have stayed at Genetti's Best Western in Williamsport many times over the past few years and though the hotel is older and quirky, we have always enjoyed it. However, this year's visit was simply awful and we will not be returning. Our experience with outrageously noisy neighbors was reported to the front desk and we asked to move to another room if those guests were not checking out. The clerk lied to us and said they were leaving because she was too lazy to switch our room. When we returned in the evening to find our rowdy, noisy neighbors were still there, the new desk clerk said they had no plans to leave for two more days! He said they were part of a COVID voucher program and were often difficult to remove from the hotel because they "bounce from one room to another"? I was very frustrated with the lack of a decent breakfast (they gave us a bag with a granola bar, muffin, and bottle of water). They told us at check in yogurt, eggs, and breakfast sandwiches would be offered, but they had none available. We always loved the breakfast buffet at our previous visits to the hotel. Also our room had a very musty smell and there were not two queen beds, one was clearly a portable double nowhere near big enough for two people to sleep in. The bar/restaurant is no open open a few days a week so we couldn't go down to hang out in the evenings. It was very disappointing to see this classic hotel going in such a negative direction and I doubt we will ever return.
Dog Friendly...and people friendly. You could tell the staff cared about its guests. They were very friendly. This is a much older hotel and very historic...but still modern. Located right next door to the Community Arts Center (concerts, shows, etc). Spacious, free parking. The room was very clean and nice. Bathroom slightly smaller than normal. The buffet breakfast was great. The staff there was very friendly and responsive. They charge a reasonable $15 a day for your "well behaved" dog. Didn't use the pool, but it looked clean as some families were using it. Walking distance to other local shops and restaurants. Felt very safe. Some noisy vehicles on the street at night, but that's for the cops to handle. My wife and I (and dog) were pleasantly surprised and happy with it (first time staying in W-Port). We look forward to returning for future events.
Beautiful, historical, classy hotel, with a great staff, excellent rooms, good restaurant and walking distance to everything. They even have an outdoor pool and a barber shop. Also, lots of banquet spaces for special occasions.
The (c,1922) Genetti hotel will be celebrating it's 100th birthday next year and we enjoyed this historic hotel with it's class and character. As a young boy in the 1960's the then named Lycoming Hotel was a landmark for me on our trips to visit my grandparents in Lockport, New York. I had always wanted to stay here and finally incorporated a stop here on our way to Lake Placid. The Genetti has a great location downtown with in a block or 2 of a movie theatre, 3 brewery's, Wegmans, Kohls, the visitors center and about 10 restaurants. Inside, the large lobby has high ceilings as did our room, a ballroom, a taproom, nice outdoor swimming pool and a large free parking lot next to the pool. Our attractive queen room on the 8th floor gave us nice views of downtown and the river. At night walking back from a brewery at Pine Square, the hotel looked regal with green lighting around the 11th floor and then the top of the hotel with a red line and then the large Genetti hotel in red that can be seen for miles, much like I would see many years ago. Look forward to a return trip. do yourself a favor and skip the Comfort Inns, Holiday Inns, Hamptons etc. and experience a little history a save money at the same time.
The Genetti Hotel is the only place we stay in Williamsport. We're not saying that other hotels are necessarily bad, but the Genetti is very special to us. It truely is our home away from home. We love the warmth and historic feel of the hotel, the clean rooms, and the staff is second to none. They quickly became like a second family to us. We just got home and we're already planning our next trip to the Genetti!
Neat place with lots of charm but the rooms are just outdated which makes it feel dirty. Customer service was great though and we were upgraded to a suite from a standard king room as we were late check in and had a small child.
We booked the Genetti and arrived without incident. Once we got to our room we were shocked. There was a literal hair ball stuck to the comforter, stains on the carpet and bed runner, the bathroom was not AS bad though disastrously outdated. The room smelled strongly like stale smoke, we could hear the conversations going on in rooms on either side. It's not typical for me to leave bad reviews but we had checked in, and checked out of this hotel in under 5 minutes. Don't walk, run - to any other Hotel in Williamsport.
Beautiful Historic Hotel in Downtown Williamsport, pet friendly and close to lots of amenities. Lots of character. Staff are very courteous and pleasant. Restaurant / Taphouse is wonderful. Love this place!
The Genetti is the Place to stay when staying in Williamsport! Great location right in the central part of town. Close to all the restaurants and bars. Pool is great! Bar on site is being renovated, can't wait to see it next trip to town.
100 year old Genetti Hotel was a nice place to stay. Guest rooms had been tastefully and thoughtfully updated fairly recently. Room was very comfortable. Bathroom was small but also nicely remodeled. Washbasin is outside the bath unit, in the bedroom itself and quite attractive. Walls seemed a bit thin. Unfortunately the room next to us was occupied by 2 or maybe 3 prepubescent children who were clearly excited to have a room to themselves. Assume parents were on the other side but they did nothing to calm things down. We were disappointed that the restaurant was in the process of being remodeled so we were not able to enjoy the complimentary "hot breakfast" but the hotel did have brown bags set aside for their guests each with a small number of basic items to which we could add additional foods from a generous list. The hotel was very clean with a pleasant lobby, corridors with many pictures of noted guests, free and ample parking, a nice swimming pool.
The owners of this hotel have worked hard to keep the hotel updated while still retaining the historic feel. We enjoyed our stay. The continental breakfast was great. The front desk staff was personable and helpful. We especially loved the puppy mascot! He is adorable.
We were only there one night but loved the location and price. Even though it was in the downtown area the parking was convenient and free. It was a grand hotel at one time. They have done their best to preserve the image of these once grand hotels. A breakfast was included but the restaurant was under renovation and when we got up we weren't sure that there was a breakfast. You just had to pick your breakfast options from the front desk. I can only speak of our room but I think it is time to replace mattresses, at least in our room.
We are the proud parents of our son who graduated from lycoming college in 2020 but because of covid he got to walk in 2021 we always stayed at the genetti and we were glad to go back the staff is pleasant the breakfast is amazing just a nice place I would recommend for any Lyco parents
Conveniently located to everything in the downtown area. Easy walk to theater, restaurants, and bars. Friendly and attentive staff met all our needs. Breakfast was grab and go due to COVID but the selection was appropriate. Hot coffee was available in the lobby at all times.
We got a deal on a short stay while rising a sick relative. We ended up extending the stay twice. The night service clerk was extremely helpful with a problem with our reservation. They took appropriate Covid precautions for the time, and supplied a very good breakfast 'to-go' bag. This is an older hotel but comfortable and quiet, convenient to auto routes and downtown life. Their regular rates seem a bit high, but - assuming we got good deals (don't even have to beat the others) - we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
This hotel is very old and somethings need to be repaired/replaced. We have stayed here twice and would definitely go back again. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. The hotel has charm and beauty. But best of all, the rooms are spotless.
The only thing that could have made this stay a larger experience is if the renovation s to the restaurant and bar were completed and it was available.Everyone on staff throughout were friendly and helpful! From the parking area,to the halls, and the reception area. Wonderful people!
The hotel had an old school feeling, but didn't lack in any area which made the stay a pleasant one. Our room was a little small, but had all the amenities we needed. The location is perfect, situated walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars.
We were in town for a meeting at The Door Fellowship and this hotel is a great location. It is convenient to restaurants and in walking distance to the church we were at. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable although it could use some updating. We were upgraded to a suite. The bed was comfortable, but the furniture was kind of worn. The restaurant was closed so we had to go somewhere for dinner and breakfast. We would stay here again when in town.
Charming, historic hotel in downtown Williamsport. Walk to restaurants, museums, and shopping. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, easy parking. They are remodeling the restaurant, so it iscurrently closed, but they provided a grab and go breakfast.
The history on the walls alone throughout the property to include famous visitors was impressive. The rooms nostalgic decor and the US mail delivery shute was also very well kept for the age. I would have loved to had a day to photograph all the pictures on the walls and inside of the ball rooms as well. If you're looking for an affordable and classy place to enjoy during your travels this is the place. 10/10 for my recommendation.
We enjoy staying at the Genetti when we visit Williamsport. The staff is friendly and ready to help with anything. Missed the buffet breakfast. But we had a GREAT bag breakfast. I would recommend this hotel for your stay.
I stayed here for Valentines Day. We were told that we would be screened with the temperature devices but non were seen. We got a suite w/ a jacuzzi. Jacuzzi was hard to get in if you are short. Room was ok but did not have the promised view. Ate dinner at the Tap House. One bar tender (male) didn't wear a mask. Asked about a drink menu and there wasn't any. Food that was on the menu that they were out of. Many items were ordered only to come back and let us know that they were out of those items. The cooks didn't wear a mask. Most of the people in the restaurant were walking around not wearing a mask. All employees except for one did not wear a mask. Noticed a pool tournament going on with no one wearing a mask. Did not feel comfortable.
Valentine's night out for dinner and cocktails lounge area was nice dinner was great , stayed over night to finally relax and enjoy a night away from home everything was great. We will definitely be back Thank you !
My husband and I stopped overnight on our way home. Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the check in at the front desk to a room that was extremely clean. We wished we could have stayed several nights instead of just one.
Staffs were friendly, I love the fact that they have coffee 24/7 in the lobby...I was given a good deal for being an essential worker. Pretty nice historic building, lots of space in parking lot area. I like the location pretty close to everything and walking distance to restaurants, grocery store (Wegmans) and Kohl's. I'm recommending this place to everyone who come visit Williamsport PA. Sidney/Signey is very accommodating and friendly staff.
Quaint hotel. Friendly staff.alicia k. And Tim at the front desk were friendly and made our stay fun. Tim made the phone reservation and also checked us in and was very informative. Alicia k was our waitress in the restaurant and checked us out and gave us our breakfast goody bags.
The hotel has unique old style character but the rooms, while nice and large, were a bit outdated. There were several maintenance issues that should be addressed such as ceiling tile blowing out of its place due to wind, window blowing open due to wind, and peeling paint on baseboards. On the plus side, the rooms seemed clean. Carpets looked like they had been replaced in the last several years. There was no residual cigarette smoke in any part of the hotel that we were in which was a bonus considering how old the hotel is. The staff was friendly. I could do with out the dog on the front desk. Understand the need for bagged breakfasts, but the quality of many of the items in the bags was so unhealthy. Prepackaged muffins, granola bars and yogurt- too much sugar and preservatives. Despite signs saying masks should be worn in public spaces most of the guests we saw DID NOT wear them. The staff did have masks on when we saw them. Nothing was said to any of the non mask wearing guests.
This hotel has exceptional character and an excellent location. One of the tallest buildings in Williamsport it had wonderful views overlooking the city. The convenience near so many things to do made it a great stay too. The hotel was very easy to get off the highway and get too.
Rooms were quaint, but a bit outdated. Very few guests were wearing face coverings, and some staff were either not wearing them properly or not at all. The face covering rules were not the least bit enforced. Though the hotel is non-smoking, we found many people smoking in the loading dock, which is only separated by one door from the entrance hallway.
COVID: Here's the bad (the good will follow) Despite signs saying masks to be worn in public spaces, more than half the guests and most of the staff were maskless. When asked, one front desk person said "It's a mandate, not a law" and "It's dicey to tell people". Guests were checking in without masks, and no comments made; maskless guests were chatting with the front desk, with no comment made. I saw a total of 5 cleaning staff -- none of which wore masks. 2 of the three people at the front desk (albeit behind a plastic shield) with were not wearing masks or wore them below their noses. The room was supposedly super-cleaned. It may (or may not) have been sterlized, but little pieces of trash on the floor said it hadn't been cleaned well. I don't mind that the place is a bit run down. The Good: The staff was very friendly. The room was large and high-ceilinged. Parking was ample and free, and the room rates were reasonable. Location was very good (near restaurants, Wegmans, etc.)
This historic old hotel is a great place to stay when in Williamsport. Clean, friendly staff. Easy to walk to historic district, "millionaire's mile", lots of restaurants and shops. Corona virus prevented the bar and restaurant being open, but peeking in and reading the menu.... worth a trip back up there when to enjoy the full benefit of the hotel. Also -- free WIFI and free parking were a nice plus.
First time here when bringing our son to 2nd year of college. will definitely not stay anywhere else from now on. Room are very clean and spacious, well appointed too. Love the inspirational note on the bed every time you stay here.Nice restaurant on site & even a barber. Love that we can stay parked here and walk to everything. Even a pool out back.
I have stayed here numerous times. Usually our go to when we visit Williamsport, but this time was not what I expected. 1st I had my 3 children with me and trying to open our room door was so hard. Door stuck and would take us a good 5 mins of continuously sliding room card and shaking door handle before getting door open. 2nd the room next to ours was so loud which kept us up half the night yelling, fighting and slamming doors. And 3rd this is a non smoking hotel and it smelled so bad of stale smoke and fresh weed. I have never had issues like this before and for 115.00 a night this is uncalled for. This may be a deal breaker and I've been staying here for 5 years when in town.
I spent one night there this week, there is no enforcement of the state face mask mandate. There are signs all over the hotel saying that face masks are mandatory yet almost no one wears one. We saw numerous employees without masks, one got on the very small elevator with us without a mask. The woman at the front desk claimed to not be aware of the issue, yet there was a group of employees standing in front of the desk without masks when we checked in. We saw one group of elderly guests wearing masks, other than that everyone we saw had no mask. If they don't prioritize the health and safety of their guests I will not recommend anyone stay here.
The staff at the Genetti do not care about your safety. In my time there, every single employee I saw did not have a mask, not even hanging around their neck. The only employee wearing a mask was the woman behind the front desk. When I asked her why none of the employees were wearing masks, she said they were supposed to be but she knew nothing about it, despite the fact that I have seen her talking to employees and guests without masks on several times. The employees will get on the elevator with you, where it is impossible to socially distance, without a mask on. Even the servers at the attached restaurant do not wear masks. There are signs posted at every door and elevator saying that masks are required, but those are useless if no one is going to enforce it. This blatant disregard for the safety of guests and patrons as well as Pennsylvania law is absolutely disgusting. If my stay at the Genetti was longer than one night, I would have found somewhere else to stay because they do absolutely nothing to make you feel comfortable and safe.
The staff at the Genetti is amazing. I had a very positive experience in 5 months of stay. 2020 was without a doubt the worst, but the Genetti got me through it. Yes, it's an older hotel, but I had no issues whatsoever and my stay was not only comfortable, but memorable. I have nothing but good to say.
this hotel is and will continue to be our stay place when we travel north to Corning New York. The front office staff are great and bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. I would recommend this place to everbody.
Everything was ok except the beds were not comfortable had hard time getting comfortable.no breakfast very disappointed about this.the rooms w 2 beds were cramped.not much room to move around.the location was good
If you want some historic charm this is a great place to stay. We stayed in a basic queen room but had plenty of space (bathrooms are small, this hotel is old!). But still had a microwave and fridge. The breakfast that everyone talks about is still on hold because of Covid19 so we missed out on that. Overall it was a nice hotel
Best place to stay, hands down. Great rooms, friendly and caring staff, and an awesome on site restaurant - who could ask for more? Given the option, the Genetti is ALWAYS our first choice. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and we enjoy eating in the restaurant. The breakfast buffet is awesome (when COVID hasn't shut it down).
Overall, I loved the hotel and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel was not your typical cookie cutter hotel and had great character. The staff was very pleasant and helped whenever needed.
The price was unbeatable so we took two nights. It was the preferred room block for a local softball tournament. $70/night Location. Small city. Cute city. Property has a nice corner bistro for outdoor dining on the street level. Quaint means it keeps some old historical charm like mail box slots and antiques as decor without seeming to ‘old' and dates. Also quaint were the local lore ghost stories about certain floors. Pros: Great adjacent, ample and free parking. Outdoor pool, and yes it was open. Pet friendly Laundry facilities Downstairs pub with takeout Very friendly staff Rooms big enough for an air mattress or cot for you families of five or more. Rooms were clean, a tad older decor but still nicely appointed. Cons Bathrooms were tight space but workable, tall people might fret more Some other families complained of small fruit flies in room but personally did not experience Breakfast was COVID style grab and go so not the usual promise understandably. So we did not use it although it was included but it seemed to have variety like bananas in addition to muffins, etc., available. Overall a great trip and the stamp of approval is I would stay there again.
Nice location. It is an antique hotel but it is very well maintained. It was cleaned, good service and very comfortable. We stayed in the 9th floor during the pandemic, the breakfast was not as we expect but it was okay due to the circumstances.
Right in the heart of downtown Williamsport. Reasonably priced. Great character. Retro fitting makes the layout interesting in some rooms, but every is up to date and I appreciated a consistently hot shower.
I stayed here two nights, and was very pleased. It was nice to stay in an historical hotel, but it had a modern feel. I normally prefer new, modern hotels, but this was great. Also nice was the low cost!
The "Genetti" will take you back in time because it is celebrating it;s 90th year. You can feel the history and better yet you can see some of it on the walls. Pictures of various dignitaries and sports celebrities like Cy young and Pete Rose. The rooms will take you back as well (they have been modernized), the "mail' system that ran along the elevators. The staff are warm and friendly especially at breakfast. It is nice to use real cutlery and plates and it seems that they will make your eggs to order once a week. The location of the hotel is in the heart of the city and that will provide you with a charm of how it once was and how it still can be!
2/26/20 5 stars and here's why; This is a top notch hotel! Such a wonderful surprise coming from the road and staying at the common franchises hotels. 1.The room and bathroom were clean 2.The staff was friendly 3.Great breakfast buffet 4. Large parking area for the work truck 5. All good accommodations all around. I would most definitely return here again if and when in the area.
If you want to see what hotels used to be like come here. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Dinner was very good at the on site restaurant and bar and the prices were very reasonable. We had a jacuzzi tube room which was very spacious and well appointed. One complaint was the lack of soundproofing. We could hear the couple in the next room and presumably they could hear us as well. The only other thing was their breakfast staff seemed unprepared and was rushing to keep the breakfast buffet filled. We were not in a hurry either morning so it wasn't a big inconvenience.
Built in 1922, this hotel holds history. Beautiful rooms. Full buffet style breakfast. Great staff Located off the highway. This hotel is a reason to visit Williamsport. I personally recommend this hotel. Pet friendly
Asked for a DVD player for in our room, Dinner was amazing very tasty, portions were just right. Best dinner I've had in a long time. Enjoyed having drinks in the lounge by the window. Really enjoyed the lounge and will come back on a night there is a band to check it out and have some drinks. All staff was very friendly and helpful.
Room was great. Bathroom was small. Hot water was warm, not hot.Sink was an after thought. Overall ok. Bar/restaurant was mediocre at best. Thank god for surrounding bars and breweries, because the hotel bar did not offer enough
We stayed at the Genetti BW on our way from Chicago to New York. I mostly chose it for distance reasons, and because I love the BW brand. The hotel itself, however, is EXCEPTIONAL. It is charming, lovely, and our room was just great. The beds and pillows were beyond comfortable. There was a great old chair where I read for nearly two hours that night. The lobby was beautifully decorated. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs where we had great beers and burgers - truly delicious - at such reasonable prices. The hotel provides a phenomenal breakfast spread that includes all kinds of healthy and hearty items - all fresh and all delicious. The people who work there are all friendly and so helpful. If you have any reason to be in this area, stay at the Genetti. It has so much class and character. What a treat! We will be back.
Spent New Years 2020 at Gennetti and had a great time ! Would encourage anyone planning to spend time in Williamsport to give the Gennetti a try. Good food good people and just an overall great experience to spend time at such a historic hotel !
This stay was absolutely delightful. From booking to arrival and then departure. Our experience was perfect. The room was huge and the bed was just right. We had a king bed on the 8th floor. Had a nice surprise in the room. One,it was huge and two, It had a big spa tub. And a nice size refrigerator in room. Plenty of comfortable seating as well. We will stay here again.
Whenever we go to New York state, we stay at the Genetti. The rooms are super, the staff is great. Breakfast is one of the main reasons we stay there. The front desk staff will make you feel like family staying the night. The bar downstairs is a great place to unwind after a long day of travel.
I always stay at the Genetti when I return home. It is full service and consistently excellent in terms of quality and guest experience. Traveling home for my mother's funeral was no exception. Food, rooms, parking, amenities. It is why I return time and again.
Beautifully decorated for Christmas, front staff was very nice and attentive. Old world charm throughout. Hotel is pet friendly, so therefore we were awakened several times during the night by a barking dog. Walls are paper thin as we could hear our neighbors conversations. Housekeeping needs more attention. There were crumbs and leftover snack leavings under the desk, TV stand and in the desk drawers. Complimentary breakfast was just ok. Not worth the $10 charged to non hotel guests.
Everything at this hotel was great. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and I never had such a choice of food at any free breakfast at any hotel I ever stayed at.
Most importantly the room was clean. Reservation was kept for a pool area room because I avoid elevators, all staff were friendly and welcoming, wifi connection is good. Was there for an event and parking was scarce, however, street parking was made free for the event which I assume the town approved and was very much appreciated.
The Genetti Hotel is amazing. The history and charm beat the blandness of a chain hotel any day. The buffet breakfast is incredible, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are large, comfortable and always clean. We have been unexpectedly upgraded to a suite when one was available. The only downside is that they have an outdoor pool.
Quaint older hotel but if you suffer from allergies please be aware there are dogs everywhere- including at the breakfast buffet!!! I personally do not want to eat at a buffet where dogs are allowed. My boys are bothered by animals and I do know more and more hotels are pet friendly-but this was over the top. We saw dogs in the lobby and heard them as we walked to our room on the 8th floor.
I loved the antiqueness of the Genetti. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The rooms were well kept and clean as well. I would recommend more options for non dairy/plant based guests..I also liked the location right in the center of things.
A wondrous Hotel with huge amounts of history. It is set in the middle of beautiful Williamsport Pa. The rooms are classy but make sure you define what room you're interested . They do range in size and suites . The staf is incredible and very open. The Front end is amazing and the food just makes you wish for more.
The Genetti is a splendid-looking, old-established hotel in the heart of Williamsport. No other hotel has its history or its grandeur but inside it doesn't quite live up to its exterior. The rooms are comfortable but feel like a cross between an old motel and an historic establishment with styrofoam ceilings against quite elegant old furniture. The beds are very comfortable with a range of pillow softeness. The shower is great and everything works as it should. Breakfast comes with the room. It's a typical breakfast buffet in a slightly southern American style. The items could be hotter but the pancakes are really good. Some plain yoghurt and fruit other than melons would be good. The coffee, from an urn, is surprisingly good and the single host/attendant is charming and helpful. There's a toaster and a variety of breads with butter and two jelly-type jams. Non-jelly would be good. However, as it is the only place to get a breakfast downtown, it is well appreciated. The local newspaper is beside reception. It would be good to have copies in the somewhat dingy breakfast room as well - it doubles as a bar and restaurant at other times. I will probably stay again.
The hotel was in excellent condition for its age..beautiful chandliers, nice breakfast, clean room with a great view of the city and mountains, pleasant employees, in a good downtown location...we will stay again!
Classic hotel that has been updated. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. Easy to find hotel, lots of parking spaces available. We enjoyed the photos of famous people who have stayed at the Genetti. We will definitely return!
This is an older hotel which is part of what gives it character and charm. The location is perfect and all of the staff members from housekeeping, to the front desk and breakfast staff, were friendly and helpful.
I walked down the hall past a bunch of open doors into the rooms and was looking forward to walking into our room. When I opened the door I was a tad disappointed. It was small but clean. No sitting room like the rooms I had just passed. I was still ok with it. Then I went into the bathroom. My first thought was “who did I tick off”?? You could not lather in the shower as you us no room. As you soaped, you rinsed at the same time. There was no room in the shower. We were there for 2 nights. We checked out 2 days ago. The more I think about it the more I am shocked. What upsets me is they gave us a room that in no way is represented in any of the photos I see online. I felt it necessary to let others know this room is a possibility. I didn't complain. I just won't go back. I still wish I knew why I got a room like that.
Very clean room. Its location allows you to very comfortably walk to pubs, Wegmans, shopping, and cute downtown shops. The included breakfast has a wonderful variety of options. The Tap Room in the hotel offers really good food and a large variety of beers.
I stayed in a room with my parents which was very nice. The bathroom was small though. The second night I stayed there I was in the honeymoon suite which was wonderful! Both hotel rooms had very comfortable beds. We even considered booking for another night.
The Genetti is truly a home away from home! The staff is awesome, the rooms are comfortable, and the hotel is close to anything in the general Williamsport area. I have stayed here many times, as well as in 30 day increments. It is a lovely hotel, with all the amenities of home.
Went to Williamsport for Homecoming and really enjoyed the stay as always. Rooms are unique and different, but the stay is enjoyable. Free hot buffet breakfast, and there is always water in the lobby. Staff is friendly and approachable! Even allowed me an 11:00 am check in! Highly recommend over other hotels in the area.
I know that hotel is over 100 years old but that is not a reason for not maintaining it. The walls need painting and the rugs need to be or replaced or cleaned. The first impression of walking from the parking is not favorable. Motel like appearance takes away from the hotel and musty smell in the hall way does not help. Please take some pride and do some minor renovations.
I would like to say that the customer service was great. I get that people like the old charm of this hotel, however the rooms did not look like the pictures on the website and had a musty old smell. My parents and in-laws had rooms inside the hotel and each room had a bad smell and the Jacuzzi tub was oddly in the living space of the rooms. My family was placed outside around the corner in a "motel" feel room. Although our room seemed more modern than the others, the bathroom was small and had a low drop ceiling. The tub had hair in it and the bathroom just didn't feel sanitary to me. I did not want to even take a shower. The walls were super thin and we could hear every word the neighbors were saying. The bed was comfortable but I couldn't sleep a wink because of the noise. To top it off, my husband and I heard something running around in the ceiling. We ended up cancelling our reservation for the rest of our stay.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful, historic establishment. Wonderful staff and impeccable service when needed. The delicious, self-serve breakfast as part of your stay is an absolute bonus. I wouldnot even hesitateto stay here again and enjoy the clean rooms and deeply engraved historic atmosphere of this lovely place. Close to anything you might need downtown, including grocery stores, restaurants, movie facilities and other forms of entertainment. A truly great experience.
Williamsport- Working stay. I was fortunate enough to get the "Bob Hope Suite" There were 2 large rooms, a beautiful large sitting room and bedroom. Bed and pillows were wonderful. The bathroom was small but updated. I wish I was in the room long enough to enjoy! Free breakfast from 6am even on Saturday and Sundays. All items were cooked fresh and the service was great. Very good breakfast variety. The Bar restaurant had good food and good service. Several good restaurants within walking distance. Staff very nice and accommodating. It is an old charming hotel.
Whenever we go somewhere I usually try to find an older place with some character and history. This place has both . The problem is that these older places in an effort to compete with the newer white box flat wall Sheetrock mega hotels have to attempt to modernize a 90 to 100 year old building and that just doesn't always turn out the way it was intended. In this case they attempted to install a handicap shower into an original bathroom. While the installation looked fine the operation was 100% flawed . Any attempt to take a shower resulted in a flooded bathroom floor . At that point by the time you mop up the floor with all the towels you have ( a couple a times ) you ain't takin no shower . Personally I liked the hotel but if I was to go through that town again I would ask for a room without an OPEN shower .
My husband and I stayed here recently for his birthday weekend. We returned after being mightily impressed with the place 13 years ago during Penn State Homecoming Weekend. Unlike many historic downtown hotels today, this one is well-maintained. Don't let the dated lobby decor fool you. (Time to retire the Jeeves statue? He's starting to look like Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show! LOL ;) The rooms themselves are beautifully appointed in a tasteful Hollywood Regency style that has aged well. All the fixtures in our suite were in working order, and the carpet, bedding, and bath were fresh, clean, and odor free. I felt totally comfortable doing my morning downward dogs right on the floor. This time, we "splurged" and stayed in the spacious Bob Hope Suite. (Apparently, he was a regular!) Where we live in SEPA, we could ne'er afford such luxury. (Only $150 per night!) Then there's the town of Williamsport itself. Such a lively, progressive city! We arrived during their First Friday celebration with live music around every corner and people dancing in the streets. On Saturday morning, we grabbed breakfast (and much more!) at the city's sizeable outdoor farmer's market that sets up right behind the hotel. According to my husband, the hotel hot breakfast buffet is safely missed. Too crowded, and he didn't find the offerings to his liking. (Though, he's a bit of a health nut. He should've just gone to the juice bar across the street.) We will definitely return to Williamsport and Genetti's!
Wonderful Old World hotel. Very friendly. Here again, the rooms are old world style. The one floor is supposed to be haunted. This was my second stay and I never heard or saw anything, but they have pictures on the wall that is supposed to be of the haunting. Friends and family from the Little League World Series have stayed there.
We stayed here during the LLWS which made it very fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. our room although small was very quaint and reminded of Europe. They have a new part but would recommend the older part even tho it is smaller. The bed was good, the bathroom was very small. The pool was a little chilly but not unswimable it had a nice deck area, enjoyed that it was right downtown, the breakfast was great, the biscuits were the best I have ever had at a hotel they even had corned beef hash.
This is a great old hotel, the staff make you feel like you are at home. It is in a great location with alot of restaurants and other venues close by. We where there during the Little League World Series which is always a great time!
Good location but very tired Check in staff was friendly and quick Room appears clean But Thin walls. Could hear our neighbors clearly Wallpaper peeling off walls in the hallway No screen in our window on the eighth floor (danger!) Bathroom was tiny and in need of a complete gut job Toilet from some other century
We had a great stay for the Little League World Series. Each member of their team seemed genuinely excited we were there! The rooms were clean, breakfast was delicious and the staff was so friendly! Parking was easy and only a few minutes from everything in Williamsport!
We had a unforeseen situation with our immediate family we lost our sister took hansor on the day before my travels to this hotel I called the hotel and asked for a reimbursement due to the death of my sister and they refused to refund it this is very sad.
Great place to stay in a great location. The staff were ever so polite and accommodating. The inside bar and food is fantastic and my overall experience is that I would highly recommend to stay here. You won't be disappointed.
Here are the good things about the Best Western Genetti in Williamsport, PA: The location is great, right in the heart of the city. The price was very reasonable for a downtown hotel like this. The pool looked very nice, although we did not have time to use it. The free breakfast buffet was good and featured more choices than most other places. This hotel has large meeting rooms for private events. One problem: The hotel was loud! I know we were there on a busy Saturday night. But from our 5th floor room, I could hear all the music and conversation from the bar below late into the night. This was with the windows tightly shut. It would have helped if I could have set the fan to run constantly, for the white noise, but there was no setting for that. So for that reason, I wouldn't stay here again.
Old timey feeling updated from the 1920's the 8th floor is supposedly haunted by mr genetti the restuarant has really good food at a reasonable price and free breakfast buffet I needed 200 characters so coffee is good and they have fruit water near the check in
great room , great location, easy access even though its in the city, walking distance to a lot of things. coffee all day, best place to stay if you are going to in town. looking forward to staying there again
Hotel is older but well taken care of, clean rooms and wonderful helpful staff. We stayed on a Sunday nite and the restaurant/bar was closed, which we were disappointed but there were bars and restaurants within walking distance. On Monday morning we had The best continental breakfast We have ever had, lots of choices and good food. Will definitely stay here again.
The room was just not clean and the bathroom was absolutely vile. The toilet was rusted out, I took a 20 second shower, because I couldn't bear to be in their any longer. The shower had paint peeling off the tiles, and a dirty beer can was left in the shower which made us question whether the room was even cleaned. Every year we come to Williamsport to bring out child to baseball camp and we will never stay here again.
Attended a reception of approximately 250 people. Unfortunately I was at the last table to be sent to the food line. I stood for ten minutes in line as the staff struggled to find and deliver the food.....was at least the second time this happened. Took over an hour to get to the food line and it was empty. I don't recommend this hotel if you anticipate a large crowd at your meeting/reception.
We liked our one night here. Yes, it is old and could use updating, but that would probably mean higher rates, which we don't want. It just oozes history everywhere you go. We had a two room suite with a double bed in one room and king in the other; perfect for families. Beds and linens were great. The location couldn't be better; it's within walking distance of several restaurants (try the Bullfrog Brewery around the corner). We also enjoyed the outdoor pool ( a REAL pool with a deep end) and cornhole. I'm not a good judge of the breakfast since I don't like breakfast buffets (I like it cooked to order), but hey, an included breakfast buffet is a good draw for most people. Bottom line: a great stop just a few miles detour off I-80.
Great Value- The hotel, room staff and amenities were a great value for the price. I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions and will definitely do so again. I have already recommended the hotel to a friend.
i always like a building that has been updated or repurposed such as this one. it is conveniently location in Williamsport and not difficult to find. the facility is easy to navigate around and i'll come back again.
The best kept secret in the Northeast! A grand old hotel.Excellent staff, great location. Had a suite on 10 floor was like our own apartment.. Well furnished, comfortable and very clean. Quiet- never heard a thing. Location was perfect and a cool old neighborhood with lots of restaurants.. A real gem- thanks Gus
The location was perfect place to stop for the night after a long drive. Scenic area and the hotel was within walking distance from everything in downtown Williamsburg, PA. Room was warm even with the AC running, but the bed was comfortable.
Excellent price for two comfy queen beds during the 4th of July. The fireworks were amazing and only 3 blocks away. also 3 blocks away is a Wegmans, Kohls and Wegmans. The pool was also clean and friendly. Parking was on-site. Will definitely return.
I pass through Williamsport several times a year. I'd always looked for a 'deal' and had found a pretty decent property just outside town. Then- by luck- someone mentioned this Hotel to me. I had always figured that Big Hotels square in the coolest part of a city were 1. Too Expensive, and/or 2. Run Down. Boy- Was I Wrong. This place is a Gem. It is now one of the Highlights of my regular trips through the are. I Do Not Kid. The Rooms: LARGE. Beautifully updated and spacious. SOME of the bathrooms are a bit small, as this is a Historic Hotel and back in the day folks didn't require 475 square feet of bathroom space. The Elevators are fast. The desk crews are wonderful, funny and helpful. There is even a barbershop on site-- VERY old school. It is very evident that when Best Western purchased this property, they wanted to make a statement. And guess what? You can step out the front door and you are in Old Williamsport- lots of character with older brick buildings and numerous local restaurants within a block or two. I almost hate to give out such a good review-- I am not inclined to be generous with reviews and am pretty particular. But If you don't look into staying here next time you come through Williamsport..... I would like to know what you've found that's better!!
Good location downtown with wonderful staff. Older hotel but rooms nice with up to date conveniences. Breakfast was excellent with real eggs and good service. Great hamburgers and other food in restaurant/bar downstairs. Great value for the price and will stay here again when in area.
I've stayed here several times and each time was great! It's less than 3 minutes from Lycoming College, there are many bars and restaurants just steps away, it's a clean place, free breakfast. Yea, it's a bit outdated but the price is awesome so I really cannot complain! Love it there and will only stay there when visiting Williamsport.
It's an older hotel, very well-maintained. Very nice rooms. super clean. (the hallways kind of show the age, however). I kind of wish the ceiling in the hotel lobby showed some of the grandeur that I'm sure it used to have. Instead, the hotel lobby ceiling is boring styrofoam tiles.
Lovely Older Hotel with a great staff, good food and spirits at the Genetti Taproom.Located in City Center within walking distance of shopping,a brewhouse ,many restaurants and taphouses and entertainment.
This is a renovated hotel in the style of the 1950's ..It has a spacious lobby and if you walk in from the parking lot, a history of guests in photos. Almost everything takes you back to the 1950's from the elevator buttons, the mail slots between the elevators and the sinks outside of the bathrooms. We were not there during the Little League World Series, so we got a great deal on the room. When we had a small problem with the bathroom, the staff had us in a new room in 5 minutes. The hotel is conveniently located near a number of good restaurants and across the street from a great mural. Our rate included breakfast. This was nothing special, but having apple butter on my yogurt was a treat. My only real complaint were the pillows. I suggest that if you are driving, bring your own.
I am not sure I'd say terrible. Perhaps a 1.2 would work better. On Saturday nights the hotel lobby is like a Bacchanalia. If you want to sleep, make sure you're up at least six floors and NOT on Fourth Street. We asked for a new room because the mattresses were so bad we kept rolling toward the middle and woke up miserable. They did manage to switch our room and even upgraded us to a room with a kitchen. It's not really a functional kitchen so that was moot. The pool is open to the public (no locking gate) and surrounded by a seedy motel. The people rooming there will happily stare at you like something out of The Hills Have Eyes. The parking lot was so crowded we ended up parking on the street the first night (the Bacchanalia night). The breakfast? You'll be much better off going to McDonald's, Heller's, Griggs, Alabaster...anywhere, really. I can only hopefully assume that since Best Western has taken over the property that they're intending on improving it as they go. It is a 100 year old (or so) building so don't expect The Ritz.
We stayed for 1 night in this hotel. Our stay was great. This is a great location, within walking distance to great restaurants. The breakfast was phenomenal with a lot of options. The cheese grits were my favorite. We enjoyed the old charm of this hotel from the letter box outside of the elevator to the old fashioned elevator buttons. This was a really nice place and we will definitely stay here again!!
this is a great value and the location is perfect ro get to many activites in the area. the only bad thing is that the walls are thin. ar 10:30pm, my neighbor decided to have a bluegrass jam (guitar and violin). i enjoy the music, but not when I have to get up at 5:30am. after asking the front desk clerk to intervene and nothing happening, i went over at 11pm and asked the musician to please stop. he did oblige and i finally went to sleep. didnt get as well a rest as i wanted. breakfast buffet is amazing and wanted to eat more, but didnt have the time. if i can figure out a better way to cancel noise, i would stay here again.
A hotel with character. Service was great, everyone was friendly and courteous. Even though this is a older hotel, the rooms are updated and the hotel in general is very neat. My room was neat and clean, and had all the amenities I needed. Each stay includes secure parking and a great breakfast buffet in the morning. Plenty of really old pictures to check out in the lobby and hallways, which was pretty neat to look back on history. If you are traveling to or through Williamsport, this is the place you want to stay, you will be treated like family. The entire staff and team did a great job!
Whenever we visit my mother's hometown, we stay at the Genetti Hotel. It's old-style and classic Victorian style with modern amenities. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is visited by locals as well as travelers because of its variety and supply. The location is excellent no matter your reason for being in the area. This property deserves to be a four star but I'm glad it gets 3 so it remains affordable for me.
Our team stayed here and the kids were freaked out about the ghost stories. The history of the hotel was extremely interesting. We had fun. Room was just too small for 3 of us. The bathroom had no where to put anything but a toothbrush.
We stayed here both on our way to and from Washington, DC from Ontario, Canada - it's about 1/2 way between the 2, nice way to break up the drive. Great place to stay for baseball fans!! (which we are - one of the reasons we stayed in Williamsport was b/c it was the home of Little Leaque Baseball and the home of Historic Bowman Field - second oldest minor league ball park in America). So much history in this hotel, dating back almost 100 years. Beautiful hallway full of historical pictures telling the story of all who have stayed here - many baseball greats - Cy Young, Pete Rose; and many local politicians etc... You feel like you are taking a step back in time, the rooms are beautifully decorated and smaller, as expected for a hotel of that age. Many rooms are named after people and have a special story to them. We stayed in room 501 on the way down - this room is named after a wonderful volunteer who has done a lot for Little League Baseball Word Championships, as well as disabled children - what a great story; they combined 2 rooms into one for him, and the room is large and designed for people with disabilities. We stayed in room 820 on the way back - issue with the door, it gets stuck, you need to use your shoulder with a lot of force to get the door open from outside, although it opens just fine when you are within the room - I suspect this room is more indicative of the usual size of the rooms. Very tiny bathroom, and the sink is in the actual room. But we had more than enough room, and it was lovely. Easy check-in & check out; free onsite parking; full breakfast included in the price - really great options, food to satisfy any tastes. Quiet in general, we had no issues with noise, even with 820 which is right by the elevators and the "ding" as it arrives on the floor. Temperature control is great. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Williamsport, or travelling through and needing a place to stay on their way elsewhere.
We were pleasantly surprised. Had been through and stayed in Williamsport before and saw this unique hotel (while at a chain type place) so this time, We had just finished hiking the black forest trail and needing a place to stay, rest, and clean up. We checked in early. Front desk was helpful and nice. Upgraded room to a queen suite. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a very relaxing stay. Very much enjoyed the tasty full complimentary breakfast. We will definitely be staying here again next time in the area. My favorite stay in a hotel in quite awhile. Would give five stars but its not a five star hotel but for the price it is if you know what i mean. Only downside (to maybe some people) is it is a nearly 100 year old hotel so it is dated but to me thats what gives it its charm!
Have used the Genetti for several years when travelling from Ontario, Canada to Annapolis, Maryland to visit my son. A stay over in Williamsport breaks up the journey and there are great restaurants in the area of the hotel.
There are some lovely architectural elements and the staff are very pleasant and want to help make your stay a good one. Our room was spacious, but the bathroom was very small and the sink area left no room to put even a tooth brush on the counter because there was no counter. The walls are way too thin. Our neighbors were awful and at 3:30 AM when they returned we heard every word of their conversation about their night out and how they gipped their server out of a tip. The breakfast offers enough food, but it is nothing special. It's what you'd get at any Holiday Inn. The beds were comfortable! It is a very convenient spot in downtown Williamsport that is walkable to many restaurants and the movie theater.
I stayed at this hotel in April for 3 nights. On our third night a group got locked out of their room at 3am, but we did not know about this when we called the front desk. I called the front desk to ask what was going on at 3am because I was woken up by banging, slamming, and drilling. The front desk staff was extremely rude and stated that he had other problems to deal with and I would just have to wait, I explained to him that I am a paying customer and I did not appreciate his tone and they way he was speaking to me. I then hung up the phone. He then called back to the hotel room about 10 seconds later. He screamed at me that I could check the F*** out right now and never come back. The next morning I came down to the front desk to explain to his boss what happened. She only gave me 40 dollars off and told me she understands why he did that because he was frustrated. After talking to the front desk staff, I went to breakfast. In front of me there was a gentlemen who had an issue and the staff checking breakfast cards proceeded to talk about him when he left and call him very nasty names in front of me. I then called best western customer service because they are supposed to be the sponsor of the Genetti, the customer service center put my complaint In, several weeks later I still had not heard anything back and when I called back to find out what happened with the complaint, I was told that it was closed out and that they reprimanded the staff member. I come to the Genetti once a year at least for their pool tournaments. This is not the first time the staff has been rude, but this is by far the worst. I will however say that the cleaning staff was very nice and accommodating with needing to come and go from the hotel room when they were in the process of cleaning it up.
Our family visited on a Thursday night because we were visiting a local college. When you step into the hotel it is like stepping back in time and not in a bad way. The interior is an old feel but not a run down feel. It felt classy and was so beautiful! The rooms were well maintained and very clean. The room we had was large with a king and a double, so perfect for our family. The beds were comfortable and there was a ceiling fan, which we love!. As others have mentioned, because it is an older hotel, it does seem that the walls and doors are thinner and I believe if it was during a busy season the noise level would have been more than I prefer. We were several rooms from the elevator and we could hear the ding of the elevator, that is how much the noise travels. Speaking of the elevator, it was safe, but it was the only part of the old style I wasn't a fan of, felt rickety. THe only complaint we would have was the breakfast. NOw the breakfast itself was very nice. Plenty of foods to choose from and the serving staff was amazing. The coffee (which is a must) was good, but when we checked in, we were given tickets for breakfast. We just took the tickets and didn't really look at them. When we arrived at breakfast the next AM, we saw that the tickets said "Gratuity not included". Well, we do not carry cash often and of course we didn't to breakfast that day so we were unable to leave a gratuity even though service was good. We felt bad, but also thought it was kind of a weird expectation since in any other hotel we have stayed in this was not an expectation.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. We loved the antiquities and history of the hotel throughout the hotel. We chose the hotel based on proximity to a college we were visiting nearby. We are glad we went with this hotel for our stay. We would definitely visit again. The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay.
Worst hotel stay ever. We left at 3 in the morning to make a 2 hour drive just to get some sleep at home. Noise was too much including some inappropriate noise. Room was clean and the hotel was in walking distance of what we needed.
Best breakfast in Williamsport, and I'm treated like a welcome guest every time. The rooms are well decorated and maintained. Proximity to Williamsport attractions and the River Walk are bonuses. I've become a regular because of the great service and price.
This is our second time staying at the Genetti. We procured the 10th floor suite and were not disappointed. We love the warm cozy heat. The downtown evening was fun. We had a restful nights sleep; a delicious breakfast buffet included. So for the price, we urge you to stay in downtown Williamsport at the Genetti Hotel with huge old school high ceilings. Tim the night clerk was awesome!
This IS a very special and unique Best Western property owned and operated by this man named Mr. Gus Genetti...and it shows. A throwback to another era...a REAL HOTEL welcoming- furnished completely with that special touch that ads ambiance, peacefulness, and just a different kind of welcoming that one has to experience....Our room 824- tastefully decorated, clean, AND fairly priced, even a vanity and sink in the bedroom proper with an antique mirror to add to the ambiance--different? YOU BET but reflective to a bygone era...THANK YOU - GUS GENETTI---Don't let anyone ever change what this property is!!! PEERFECTO- KAH-PEESH???
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Genetti Hotel; the breakfast buffet was satisfying and a great way to begin our day; the location is great - close proximity to great restaurants, the visitors' center, stores, museum, Millionaires' Row, and major highways. Overall, we had a great experience.
I recently stayed in this hotel with a small group. It was a great setting for us. My hotel room had a small but charming vintage bathroom but the bedroom had up to date conveniences. The public areas are pretty, especially the chandeliers. Best of all, the staff is friendly and the food is very tasty. I had a delicious dessert the first night. The breakfast buffet was good too. The banquet food was far better than what you usually get for a group. The decor and the lobby displays give you a real sense of the history of the area. Also, it's right in the downtown, but has ample parking behind the building.
Not sure how others rated this hotel 5 out of 5. This is the oldest hotel I have ever seen. Everything is outdated and it is not cleaned well enough. I agreed with that it has unqiue charming as an old historical building, but please clean the hotel and update it.
Very nice place, clean rooms, secure bedrooms with locks. Complimentary coffee all day long. Free breakfast, reasonably priced lunch and dinner at hotel restaurant or walk to close by eateries. A very nice experience
We were in town to finalize College Admissions at Penn Tech. We were only there for 1 night and I didn't want to have to pay an arm and a leg for a hotel- we just needed to sleep but wanted it to be clean.. I found this hotel and it looked older but seemed to be recently renovated. I was correct. The hotel seems to have been build sometime between the 40'-50's, very quaint with lots of history. Was able to give my teenage soon a history lesson on our way to the front desk. In the hotels hay days it served many celebrities and many presidents. The hotel still showcased many of the old fashion amenities. Was really neat to see the old mail drop system. The room was clean and the food was good. Will certainly be back again. The price was fabulous! Couldn't have asked for more. The only downside, was the bathroom in our room was extremely small- but the three queen beds made up for that.
The on-going fine service and cooperation of General Manager Marc Schefsky and the whole Genetti staff is exemplary on a yearly basis. The location is great for our statewide participants, the service and meals are one of the reasons we prefer to return each year.
A quality hotel in a lovely town. The service and breakfast were outstanding. I have been retuning yearly and each year look forward to such a pleasant experience. There is nothing shabby about this century-old hotel. The food is excellent. I love it and I am not easy to please. The pillows, of which there are plenty, are a little to well-filled for my comfort.
Filthy, unsanitary - long black hair in both beds, black debris formed in toilet after it was flushed - who knows, looked like ashes, white marks on the drapery over foot of bed, 2 huge bowling ball sized holes in the closet where pipe went through, another lady attending conference found a man sleeping in the bed when she entered the room, another lady attending conference found a dirty wash cloth hanging on the towel bar. After requesting a manager come to my room, I was moved to a suite with dried pee on the toilet seat. This place was unsanitary-filthy, had a terrible odor, everything about it was down-right DISGUSTING & CREEPY... YOU WILL FEEL A NEED TO SANITIZE YOURSELF & THROW AWAY YOUR BELONGINGS AFTER YOU WALK INTO THIS PLACE...
We enjoyed our stay and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We plan on returning again in the near future with family. The breakfast was absolutly wonderful and the price we paid was very reasonable.
the carpet smells plus in the hallway ( on the flr we stayed) has a very strong odor. Not good if you have allergies. The hotel needs an update esp the lobby, just looks so creepy. Not so welcoming for young kids.
I stay at the Genetti more than my own home, they treat me like family, and the entire staff is warm and friendly. I enjoy coming back to my room, relaxing in a comfortable warm setting, having access to great internet, local news and my favorite TV shows, as well a wonderful full service breakfast.
I booked a jacuzzi suite for my husband and I. I know the hotel is very old so I asked about the rooms before I booked and was reassured the rooms had been updated. When we got into our room we immediately noticed the huge bug smashed behind the glass of one of the pictures on the wall that was broke and open on top, there were a few other bugs that had gotten stuck in there and died as well. We also immediately noticed the jacuzzi had been broken and attempted to be fixed very poorly. The remotes had who knows what all over them, we didn't even want to think about it. It was a clean hotel overall but not a place I would go again for a romantic getaway especially for the price of the jacuzzi suits. The beds are comfortable if you are going for business though, that was the one positive thing I can say.
The Genetti is in the heart of Williamsport making it a great location. there are many restaurants, bars and shopping options within walking distance of the hotel. They have a great outdoor pool! The Hotel also has some character too! Built in the 20's this isn't some cookie cutter chain motel out by the interstate! And they have an onsite bar/restaurant. Room rate includes a FULL HOT BREAKFAST BUFFET!!!!
It's not often, you can find a price for a room that's less than $100. I saw all the great reviews and so thought that I'd take a chance. The room had the basics, but it was very small and the decor of the room and the hotel was extremely dated - like it hadn't been changed since 1978. It was also really noisy and so had trouble sleeping.
For the age of the hotel, everything is pretty up to date. My wife and I spent a Sunday and Monday night, which probably had a lot to do with the fact of how quiet the hotel was. We stayed in a King Jacuzzi Suite. The room was great and the Jacuzzi was very relaxing. The bed was comfortable. Overall my wife and I really enjoyed our visit.
I had begun to plan a romantic Valentine's day trip to the Poconos with my GF, when I stumbled across the Genetti in Williamsport during my searching for the perfect place online. I was able to get a beautiful whirlpool room at the Genetti for almost a third of the price per night of a similar room at hotels in the poconos. The hotel was built in the 1920s, and has so much character! The rooms aren't the most modern, but IMHO that added to the character. Everything was also very clean. There are lots of gorgeous historic buildings in town. The staff was amazingly friendly, I was treated better at the Genetti than I have ever been at a Hilton, or comparable "higher end" hotel. My GF and I will most definitely be visiting again.
The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The rooms were clean and spacious. We loved the furnishings and decorations. We especially loved the note from the owner. We will definitely be staying here again.
I do enjoy old boutique-style hotels, and the Genetti did not disappoint in terms of providing the charm and character associated with older facilities. It was very nicely appointed, very comfortable, and convenient. Hot breakfast buffet is included in the stay, which is always a plus, and the staff were attentive to keeping it well-stocked. The only issue is that the walls are a bit thin, so noise travels fairly readily. I had a few moments of worry when I observed several high-school students heading down towards my room, but the worst noise was just the opening and shutting of the room doors for a few minutes. I will be traveling back to Williamsport in a couple of weeks and will be staying at the Genetti again. Several good restaurants within walking distance, including the Moon and Raven across the street and the Stonehouse Wood Fired Pizza and Pasteria about 2 blocks away. The rooms have different layouts - mine had the sink right next to the bed and not in the bathroom, which was a little odd, but all in all, not a bad setup. I am very grateful that my room had a microwave AND refrigerator - this will come in handy for me when I am back for a full week!
While traveling through Williamsport we decided, on the spur of the moment, to give the Genetti Hotel a try and we are very happy we did. The hotel was busy the night we stayed, a local college was having an event there, and the staff was handling it all in stride. Brian, who checked us in, was the definition of professional- calm and collected, and made us feel welcome when we walked in to see if there were any rooms. We got two suites and both of the rooms were well appointed and exceptionally clean. The beds were very comfortable (much better than the Hampton we stayed at the night before). We had dinner down in the Tap Room and were surprised by the quality and verity of the food. Well presented and well prepared. We look forward to coming back!
This nearly 100 year-old hotel in downtown Williamsport is always our first night stay destination when traveling from NC to WNY (even though it makes for a long first day drive). Just love the charm and warmth of this place (although I heard 8th floor is haunted? What fun!). Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast buffet. There is a bar and restaurant (and another just across the street). Be sure to ask for your rubber ducky, if there isn't one in your room.
Scary. Just had a really creepy vibe. Room was clean and cavernous. Hotel could use a bit of an update honestly. I didn't even go to the breakfast as it looked like 1975 country diner. I felt like it was haunted. Maybe I'm nuts lol.
The Genetti is the only hotel we use when we come to Williamsport. The staff go out of their way to be accommodating and make you feel like you have known them for years. I love the vintage atmosphere, decorations, and history of the hotel. We stayed in the Bob Hope suite. Which is very reasonably priced! It was very spacious and we had a wonderful view of the city as the snowstorm progressed. The event that brought us to Williamsport was canceled due to the weather, but we chose to stay because we love this hotel, the people, and the breakfast. It was so relaxing! It is also a convenient location to the CAC theater, the movie theater and the Bullfrog Brewery. We spent the day antiquing in Lewisburg and then returned to the warmth and comfort of our hotel room. Check it out if you are a skeptic!
Charming older hotel, large comfortable rooms. In house bar, outstanding breakfast buffet. Ample free parking, great location walk to almost everything. Except Little League centered events which are a couple of miles away.
The Genetti has become my go to place to stay in Williamsport. Early 20th century charm and a great location. Convenient walking distance to a nice Irish Pub, movies and shopping. It's my home away from home.
We found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was nice and large. It was quiet with good bed. The room is a bit dated but has been nicely renovated. It was very clean. We loved the vibe. Excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend. Great Value
We stayed at the Genetti Hotel for two nights, and were delighted with the place. The ambiance was amazing - it was like going back in time to a more gracious era! Our room was clean and comfortable, with 10 foot ceilings. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was small, but clean and everything was in perfect condition. The lobby and photos in the hallway brought us back in time, with a carriage in the lobby and photos of politicians, celebrities and sports heroes lining the walls. The best part was the free breakfast - I've never seen so many choices at a breakfast buffet! The food was delicious, and refilled as soon as it got low. We've spent many nights in Williamsport (our son went to college there), but never stayed here before. It's our new favorite hotel!
This is our second time staying at the Genetti. We procured the corner suite and were not disappointed. We live the warm cozy heat, the downtown dressed in holiday garb. We had a restful nights sleep; a delicious breakfast buffet included. So for the price, we urge you to stay in downtown Williamsport at the Genetti Hotel with huge old school high ceilings. Tim the night clerk and the morning red headed clerks were awesome.
Its a shame to be doing this, but perhaps this will be able to address some issues I just had today. I'm a pilot, and I travel often and try to stay at places that look different than a regular chain. I've been in Williamsport for the past few days due to work, and when I saw this hotel, I found it interesting and different and decided to try it. I called at around 1:50 pm and spoke to the girl in the front desk (Sidney I believe) who took my information (including my phone number) to make my reservation. I advised I would need the shuttle service as I was at the airport car-less. She assured me they would be there to pick me up in less than 15 mins (since the airport is only 11 mins away from the airport). So 15 mins pass, and nothing. I figured due to the weather, or traffic I would not bother. Another 15 mins pass, and nothing. and I started to wonder if the driver had gotten lost since I was at the Executive part of the airport and not the main terminal. Another 15 mins pass, and nothing. Not a phone call, nothing. I decided to call to see what was going on. When I call, the girl in the front tells me that they're probably taking long because since THEY DON'T HAVE A SHUTTLE they had called me a cab to go pick me up!!!! She said she would call them and tell them to hurry. You would think out of courtesy they would call me and let me know who to expect or excuse their delay. But okay, I waited. Another 15 mins pass and NOTHING. Its 2:45 and 5 more mins and it was going to be an hour already waiting for someone to come get me. I decided to call again, the same girl picks up. She sounds surprised they haven't picked me up yet and assure me she would call them again. 3:15 and NOTHING. Now I'm extremely mad, I'm waisting time, waiting on I don't know who, when I could've been in another hotel taking care of work that was due at 5:00 pm today. I call them back, and now a guy picks up and chuckling says "they still haven't picked you up, wow. I'm going to call them again", to what I replied - I didn't wanna bother them, and they could just cancel my reservations, and i'll book somewhere else. He asked me to hold, and came back to tell me the manager would come and pick me up in his own personal car to give them 15 mins, no delay. To which I replied I would wait 15 more mins, and if they weren't there by then, then I would just cancel. 3:30 was the time I would be picked up. 3:30 pass and nothing. 3:45 and now I'm just all stressed out thinking how in the world someone can be so careless and inconsiderate with one's time. I called back at 4:05 to finally just call it a day and move on to a place that would actually pick me up, and the guy picks up saying that he had cancelled my reservation since the last time I called because I said to do so!!!!! I dislike complaining, and I'm very used to dealing with public. I've never had anything of this sort happen, not any problems, not anywhere else. This was an absolutely horrific experience, and it is a shame that it was all due to the poor customer service skills and professionalism. This is absolutely unacceptable to be in dealing with public. These issues should be addressed directly with someone who cares about their brand and service, and perhaps further training would be necessary.
Hotel rooms need sprucing up. Rooms are too crowded. I see they are trying to keep it in an old style, but some things need attention. I had to put a towel down in the shower before stepping in, as it was not up to clean standards, for me. Buffet breakfast was included. The lobby has cool old photos and memorabilia.
I see some reviews about this being an old dated Hotel. It is, that is the best part of it. It is set back in time when hotels were classy not cookie cutter. Has a lot of things most of you millennials should appreciate. Next to the elevator is a mailbox with a chute that goes up 10 floors. (These are for a folded paper envelope when people wrote things on paper that they didn't put on facebook) The staff is extremely friendly. They will point you to the best places to eat close by. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable. It has A/C, wifi (that works)
The Genetti is in a great location in the center of town, walkable to restaurants, government offices, shopping, churches and theaters. And there's lots going on at the hotel itself. You will definitely feel like you're staying where the action is. The hotel is in a fine old building with many charming historic features, including pictures and memorabilia of Williamsport and the hotel. The breakfast was very very good. I would have given the Genetti five stars except for we found the beds to concave in the middle making them rather uncomfortable. I don't think I've ever complained about hotel bed comfort before...I don't have high standards, but everyone in our family noticed these. Other than the mattress issue, everything was clean and well-maintained.
This hotel is very old and outdated. But the rooms are clean and staff friendly. Unfortunately, it has to be of the loudest hotels we have ever stayed at anywhere. Street noise, loud trucks and motorcycles, loud bars and people on the street. Noises from rooms on all sides. We paid almost $150 a night for NO SLEEP! Really, really, really bad experience. We were there for a funeral and were exhausted by lack of any rest. The only thing we needed was a quiet place to sleep.....just felt overcharged for no rest.
Awesome hotel, built in 1922 with all of the modern facilities we have been spoiled by. Very comfortable and quiet. Staff is happy and always smiling. The complimentary breakfast is better than the Hilton provides for $16.95. Room rates are reasonable and you can't miss with his hotel.
Very eclectic, reminds me of a San Francisco hotel circa 1945...and the bathroom fixtures echo that (see picture)...my room was tiny, hardly room to put your suitcase...would be horrible for business travelers. The museum type artifacts in lobby and old school charm good for families. Wallpaper peeling, needs some paint...but that's just the way it is.
The Genetti Hotel is a beautiful, older hotel in Williamsport, Pa. While our room was relatively small compared to newer hotels, it was clean and comfortable. The television was a flat screen and the air conditioner, while a bit noisy, worked very well. The bathroom in the room was also small, but all the fixtures were new. And, you did not have to wait five minutes for the hot water to come up in the shower. The staff at the Genetti is incredibly friendly and helpful. When my wife called for a extra towels, there was someone at our room within five minutes. Their buffet breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had. There was plenty of parking in the gated lot at the rear of the hotel. The pub attached to the hotel is very good. There is a decent sized bar and a very nice menu of pub/bar food to order from. The hotel is surrounded by many stores and restaurants, all within walking distance. There is an AMC movie theater within a block, and If you are a shopper, there is a Kohl's only a few blocks away. If you appreciate an historic building, with character and charm, then this is the place for you.
I loved the hotel! Wow was it beautiful inside and out. The antique mailbox was a nice touch. Free parking is always nice for a hotel right in the middle of the city. You could literally walk to anywhere, bullfrog is right across the street and there are dozens of other restaurants near by. We attended for the LLWS and the champions Hawai'i even stayed in the same hotel. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. My only complaint would be the breakfast was awful for a warm breakfast where you need to hand in vouchers. The eggs were nasty, the bacon was cold, the pancakes were hard and there wasn't even a waffle maker. We didn't pick this hotel because or the breakfast so it didn't ruin it for us.
Really enjoyed our stay here at this hotel. The rooms are old but clean. The ac worked well. The staff is outstanding and is there at every need. Breakfast in the morning is large and satisfying. Coffee served all day in the lobby. We were in Willamsport for the 2018 LLWS tournament. We are the Hawaii team that took the World Championship. That evening when we returned to the hotel, the General Manager Marc Schefsky and the staff held a congratulations banquet for the team and families in their main ballroom. They served enough food for 120 of us. On behalf of the Hawaii boys and families, Aloha and Mahalo's for all you did for us to make our stay and experience in Williamsport, and at the Genetti Hotel just a wonderful experience.
My family and I had the fortunate good luck to be able to stay here at the Genetti hotel in Williamsport. The hotel is around 90 years old and just seeing it from the outside to the inside lobby to the original mail chutes that line the outside of the elevators to the sitting arrangements near the check in counter this hotel is filled with charm. Our room consisted of separate livingroom with a double bed, desk, dresser tv set, microwave and fridge. Also separate airconditionaire that cooled that side of the room. Our bedroom had a huge king bed that led to the bathroom. Also tv and dresser plus a separate airconditionaire to cool off our side of the room. I enjoyed just laying in bed and just looking all around the room. Wifi worked perfectly. Parking was easy to get in and out. My only complaint was breakfast. Not my cup of tea at all. It felt dirty. Tables were not being cleaned quickly and food was brought out slowly. We actually went out for breakfast the second morning. But other than breakfast a great central location to be at.
Although this is a Best Western, this is a traditional old hotel with large rooms and a full hot breakfast. Great central location and friendly staff at Reception and at the Bar. The hotel is pet friendly and there is outside seating for breakfast too.
Typically you pull in front of the hotel and check in, get directions, etc. The front of the hotel faces the street with no pull off or parking. We found it just by chance the parking lot in the back of the hotel. We walked through the back part and to the lobby. somewhat disorienting. The front desk clerk was very nice, helpful and polite. We went straight to our room which was the tiniest I had ever stayed in. But in saying that, it was very quaint, well kept up, clean and for just one night, perfect! Breakfast the next morning was OK, typical breakfast fare. All in all a nice overnight place to lay your head.
If you want a change from the ultra-modern hotel room, take a step back in time here. Where else have you gone where the owner has his mother's horse buggy on display in the lobby? Here's a chance to explain to your kids what a "mail drop" is when you see the chute in the wall between the two elevators. Sure the rooms are smaller than most modern hotels, however they are just as well equipped with technology. History seeks to be on every wall and the staff could not be more pleasant and professional. I will be staying here again.
The old building was beautiful. But the motel style rooms by the pool we're very disappointing. The hotel rooms were clean but dark and dingy looking. I would give a 4.5 for being clean but a 1.0 for atmosphere and comfort specifically in those rooms.
Our baseball teams trip to Williamsport for their tournament was only made that much more enjoyable because of the accommodating staff at this hotel! Everyone from the front desk (Cheryl) to the bar & kitchen staff, cleaning and maintenance people were exceptionally friendly. Such a great place!
Was in town for a night on business. Hotel is in a nice location in the city with plenty to do nearby. Big front desk and lobby for check in. Was quick and easy and the staff was friendly and helpful. Small elevator and the layout is a little tricky. The hotel is huge and old, I believe the oldest in the city. Room was small as was the bathroom but it was clean and comfortable. I think they should update the hotel all around, rooms, hallways, etc. There is a restaurant bar downstairs and I had dinner and breakfast there and the food was good and the service was as well. I would stay here again
first, i called Miranda and mentioned that i am a Union worker(IBEW) looking for a quiet, clean room. She gave me the best rate in the area. The room is clean, thanks Kelly and quiet. there are elevators as I am 61, thats important. Nice big bar downstairs, which doubles as a full breakfast in the morning..i mean eggs, bacon, sausage, two kind of grits, sausage gravy, juices, coffee...outstanding place to stay..beautiful pool outside...fenced in parking. I would highly recommend this place for consideration to my Union bros and sisters and your family if your in the area...nice size flat screen LG tv in the rooms, private bathroom is clean, very nice staff .
This was my first visit to Williamsport. I reviewed many of the hotels on TripAdvisor, and selected this one because of the classic, quaint look of the rooms. I was given a room in the motel section that faces the pool. That room looks nothing like The classy pictures that I saw online. The room looked like any typical 1 star motel room. The rest of the hotel looked very stylish and classy, but I did not like the motel section that I was assigned. The breakfast was better than average for hotel. The people at the front desk we're courteous. Had I known that they had a section that look like a motel, I would have never booked here. Don't be deceived by all the room pictures. They are not all like beautiful as the ones in the pictures.
I recently stayed at Genetti's while accompanying my daughter for New Student Orientation at nearby Penn College (Pennsylvania College of Technology). I found the hotel via a link on the college's website, and based on TripAdvisor reviews decided to give it a chance. I'm glad that I did. Genetti's is a historical hotel in the town of Williamsport, PA. Formerly known as the Lycoming Hotel until the 1970s, Genetti's is a prominent structure and a local landmark that was built nearly 100 years ago. It's a10-story building -- which must have been a true “skyscraper” when it was built! This hotel is in no way modern, but it is charming and comfortable, and the staff was great. I'd happily stay there again. The location was also great for our needs – an easy 5-minute drive to the Penn College campus, and within easy walking distance of some neat restaurants, bars, and boutiques (and an AMC movie multi-plex). I thoroughly really enjoyed checking out the hotel's extensive photo gallery, with framed photos of many prominent folks from baseball and government who have stayed and/or attended banquets there – some notables included Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Pete Rose, Bobby Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt, General Marshall… their list goes on and on. My room (927) was spacious and comfortable. I'd booked a 2 Queen Bed room, and at checkin was informed that we were upgraded to an "apartment style" unit -- it had a small kitchenette outfitted with basic cooking supplies, 2 Queen beds (on opposite walls), a recliner, full-size leather sofa, and desk/writing area, with an adjoining bathroom. The kitchenette was more modern decor than the rest of the room. It's worth noting that the room had a window A/C unit and an overhead ceiling fan -- we stayed in the middle of the summer, and were comfortable. The bathroom is definitely "old school" with laminate countertops and all the style you'd expect from the 1970s. :) One tip - the hotel is located at the intersection of 4th Street and William Street. The GPS gave directions to the location on 4th Street (i.e., the front of the hotel), but the hotel's parking lot is behind the hotel (the parking lot entrance is off of William Street). A better than average complimentary breakfast is included in the room rate, and there's a full service restaurant and bar located off of the lobby. Genetti's is a dog-friendly hotel, which might come in handy if we decide to bring our dog to visit our daughter during a campus visit :-)
The hotel has historic significance and has true, charming old-time flavor. The room was fairly modern and clean. The bathroom, although dated, was feasible and again, clean. I can speak to the outstanding service. Every person we encountered were professional, friendly, and best of all...authentic. Breakfast was free and wonderful. The staff checked in to see if we had what we needed. We did not eat dinner in the hotel because we spied a microbrewery across the street. You can walk to many great places. Parking was wonderful and FREE. On the way out Saturday morning, we spied a local farmers' market across the street from the parking lot. We stopped and picked up several local specialties to eat on our trip. Great experience!
Priceline got me a great deal on this hotel or I don't think I'd have tried it. My room was clean and furnished nicely. Fun that it's downtown. Parking was good in their lot. Employees were kind even though they were very busy with a full house and an event. I like Williamsport.
Word is the rooms here are being given a massive overhaul. I hope so since THAT would bring them on par with the wonderful service and the incredible breakfast in this classic and landmark hotel. The rooms currently suffer from a wallop of exhaustion...they need finessing with fixtures and some define its attention to bathroom accommodations. We stayed in summer and the motel-like outdoor pool was wonderful, so much more satisfying than the indoor pools at all the surrounding modern chain digs. My advice would be to rip out all that dusty and dank carpeting, jazz the air con with new and unobtrusive window units, lose the lobby clutter and ramp up on taking the ding out of the hallways. The Genet is well worth a stay but it could easily be five stars with just some loving care.
I have been coming to this hotel weekly since roughly November of 2017. There has not been one day that I have ran into someone working on the many various staff positions, and wasn't greeted with a smile, or asked if there was anything I needed. The management of this hotel should be proud of the professionalism that is displayed by ALL of its employees.
Amazing staff. Very friendly and helpful When asked where we could eat gave us two options near the hotel. Room was very clean and right next to the pool. Secure parking with plenty of room. Loved looking at all the photos of the famous people that stayed at the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was good and again the staff here where amazing. Again the staff are amazing and the management have a program here that you can recognize them.
I stay here frequently and am always treated like family. The staff goes above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Always friendly and professional they know how to make you feel at home. Breakfast is always hot and plentiful. I look forward to my next trip to The Genetti ??
I stay at the Genetti Hotel because I am a travel nurse although my Hospital can give me a commendations when you are away from home for extended periods of time you don't need a dormitory. The Genetti Hotel affords me the comfort and the appointments that make me feel very very comfortable rested and relaxed so that my Intensive Care Unit patients received a fresh rested ready to go nurse. Sig is especially helpful at the front desk she knows me she knows my procedures she knows what I need and she takes care of me without any hiccup she is very smooth efficient and conscientious she always greets me with a smile is delightful and when I check in I'm exhausted and she is exactly what I need when I check into a hotel she's perfect for her job and I hope she is recognized. I will always tell my fellow travel nurses to stay at the Genetti Hotel.
I have to mention Cheryl first, who welcomed me and my husband at the front desk. She's a gem: gracious, competent, helpful, and knowledgeable. And she found us a lovely, extremely large suite for a great price, under $100, and, amazingly, this included a hot breakfast. Two suggestions, though: refurbish the furniture, which is elegant, but in need of sprucing up. Additionally, there are some odors that need to be addressed, the faint smell of stale smoke in suite and food smells in lobby. Despite these issues, we enjoyed the suite immensely!
We stayed here on an ATI tour lovely hotel and friendly staff. Breakfast was great and chef very keen to assist you if you needed anything else. Highlight is the ladies restroom.wow a must see you walk into a French inspired Art Deco masterpiece. We really enjoyed this hotel.
We had stayed here last fall and was disappointed at the size of the room. The front desk did apologize saying that due to 3 college reunions in the area that was all they had available and that on our next stay they would make it up to us. Well they were good to thier word. We stayed again at the end of March on a spur of the moment visit to our daughter at college. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite. Our only comment is we wish we were staying longer to enjoy it. Complementry breakfast was awsome!
This hotel was nice but the rooms were a bit small and the walls a bit thin! My husband and I were with a group of people for a wedding and they all said the same thing except for one couple who happened to get a handicapped room. We had a room near the elevator and heard every ding of the doors and every step of people getting on and off the lift. I am a bit of a lighter sleeper than my husband and was awoken by the shower above us at 5 am but he slept fine! Otherwise the room was neat and clean! The bathroom was cute but again very small! One suggestion I'd have for the bathroom would be some type of shelf in the shower for soap or shampoo! There was no real place to put that stuff other then the side of the tub. In general the staff was extremely welcoming a friendly however, the guy at the bar could use a tip in friendliness from the rest of the staff! Parking is behind the hotel make sure to buzz in so you do not have to pay for parking! Plenty of parking during the day but may end up towards the back of the lot at night. I would stay here again if I ever needed to!
We travel through this area 2-3 times a year, and we try to stay at the Genetti each time. It's an historic hotel, full of character, with consistently exceptional service from every employee we encounter, most recently Tim, at the front desk. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. And we always look forward to the full buffet breakfast, which has many hot and cold options.
Customer service at front desk is 5 star. Cheryl really seems to treat every customer as if they are the only customer. Every room in this old hotel seems to be different. Oh and they really do have the best breakfast in town.
I stayed here last weekend and found the bed very hard. I kept waking up and couldn't sleep. The amenities are nice. The breakfast was included in the price. This was also a HOT breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits with gravy, oatmeal, grits, fruit, and cold cereal. The food is buffet style on real plates and silverware. This is a huge improvement over some of the other nearby hotels that just include a continental breakfast of cold cereal on Styrofoam and plastic. The room prices are a bit high if you don't use a site like Booking, Hotels, Trivago or Trip Advisor. I stayed here again this weekend and this time I stayed in a suite. The bed was huge, and the living room/kitchenette in the adjoining room was large. Large enough to have a few visitors. The front desk staff, we found to be very friendly and helpful.
Room was clean and comfortable, loved the decor! My ONLY complaint was the service at breakfast, the waitress and kitchen staff (that refilled hot plates) were both unfriendly and unwelcoming. It's not enough to taint the whole experience that's for sure but I hope they can work on that because they are an important part of the experience, I personally love the happy breakfast people in hotels, they can make my day! ?? thanks!
Advertisements call this the Best Western Genetti hotel but really it is the iconic Williamsport Genetti hotel, a frequent visiting place for politicians, military brass, baseball hall of Fame and Pete Rose. Old photographs from the 50s of the many dignitaries who visited the hotel during its heyday add an historic landmark flavor to the hotel experience. Our accessible room was spacious and decorated with classic furniture. Service was excellent. The free breakfast was OK. The buffet items were very good but I didn't agree with the way that the chef piled one sunny side up egg upside down on the other! Overall a great stay.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel due in part to the wonderful employee that is there, her name is Cheryl. She met all my expectations and more. Anything I asked for she helped me with. Thank you so much!
This is a very nice old hotel. We had a very nice stay. The rooms we're clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. We will be back!! The free breakfast in the morning was amazing!! !!
This historic hotel is amazing. It's very interesting from 1922 to present day. I found the case after case with relics on display. The original news paper from when JFK was shot to the hotel icon Mr Jeeves. War bonds and photos from eras gone by. When I entered the staff were helpful, polite and always ready to assist.
very, very friendly staff, very accommodating for us and our pets. Very nice hot breakfast. Great view of city. Rooms nice. However, if traveling with a pet I would not recommend even though they were extremely nice about everything regarding pets. the dog walk area is a mulch area about 30-40 ft by 15-20 feet. It is inside the property but right next to building and street and poor lighting so one of my dogs that usually has no problems peeing took almost 10 minutes. And from the back entrance (parking and dog area), you have to go a long distance on the inside to the elevator. Again, super nice about the pets but physically the hotel is not ideal for a dogs.
Alicia was very polite and helped me get a last minute room and the room was amazing. Definitely being returning when in town again. Great to call and talk to someone instead of an automated machine. Want a quiet clean place that makes you feel like home this is the place
My husband I and our 11 years old son stayed at Genetti for 1 night, arriving very late. The front desk attendant was great, our room on the 9th floor was quiet and had a nice view of the city, shower was very good and their complimentary breakfast was the best I had in any chain hotels. Thank you and I would recommend this city hotel ( not in the middle of nowhere or right off the busy highway) to anyone for one night or more. You wouldn't regret.
Spent 5 nights at this hotel. Over 90 years old but well maintained and in the heart of the city with many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Very good customer service and the breakfast which is included with the stay is one of the better ones you will find. Definitely will stay here again.
We had no idea where we were going until we arrived at the Genetti Hotel, we stayed 4 nights. Old but redone. Mgr. Marc Schefsky & staff were very helpful. We stayed there 3 nights. We done daily excursions with our Tour owner & guide Steve to Milionaires Row & Rowley House Museum, & St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Williamsport. World Little League Baseball Museum was very interesting
An “old school”, family-owned hotel with a chain connection. The hotel is located downtown in Williamsport with a small parking lot directly behind the hotel. The service from Cheryl at checkin was great; and more great service from Tim at checkout. The hotel has some old-time charm but still has evidently taken steps to update without losing that charm. We were fortunate to receive a suite upgrade at check in and the room as huge. The amenities were nice; the suite offered a fully appointed kitchen with a mini fridge, microwave, stove/oven, coffee pot and all the necessities with plates, cups, silverware. The complimentary hot breakfast buffet is another example of their commitment to service. The selection was the largest I've ever seen on a free breakfast; with a broad selection of choices sure to please any taste. Service is clearly a priority to each team member. Not only would I stay here again if I'm in the area, I would not hesitate to go out of my way if I'm anywhere near by to stay here again.
We have family in Williamsport, and travel up from West Virginia to visit. This time, instead of having family ready their homes for holiday gatherings, we decided to host a family get-together for a change at our hotel! The desk clerk was super generous and gave us an upgrade by reserving a suite for us, which helped out a lot giving us a small living-room area in which to host our "party". Then, the general manager, Mark, was extremely accommodating by bringing more wing chairs to our suite's living-room area, AND a small Christmas tree to add a festive touch to the room's décor! Also - he set pointsettas on both sides of our door to help greet our guests - such a nice touch! Everyone at our gathering had a great time, and thought it a neat idea having our holiday at the Genetti this year! Really cool! And as always, my husband and I loved the complimentary full breakfast the hotel provides their guests. We never stay anywhere else when we visit - the Genetti is like home!
It was an unplanned stay that turned into a memorable experience in Genetti. Our family of three had to change holiday plans in the very last minute and we had to find a hotel for a night stop on our new route. When we arrived at Genetti around 10 pm without any reservations, they welcomed us warmly, made discounts and upgrades to match best rates in websites. We figured out that this is a hotel run by the same family for 90 years. Building is not state-of-the-art, yet obviously updated several times. You feel its age in many details, yet it does not give any sense of dilapidation. If you are looking for a brand new chain hotel you will not find it here. If you have a taste for retro, you'll probably like it here. Rooms are clean, carpets are up-to-date and clean, closets are old fashioned and spacious, Breakfast is rich. Christmas decor was everywhere, sometimes overdosed, yet it gave us an impression that an aunt or grandma is taking care of it. This is what business owners expect indeed: They openly declare that you should feel as if it is your second home. The pray-like text you find on your nightstand is a warm welcome full of age-old good wishes. I always prefer chain hotels I know not to meet bad surprises. I hope I came across more good surprises like Genetti. (It is a good surprise to learn that it is not an independent hotel but a part of Best Western's SureStay Collection. If this is a new concept -incorporating hotels with a character in a chain without intervening and uniforming them- I highly appreciate it.) Thanks everyone who contribute to keep it functioning without losing its spirit. This is a hidden gem in rural Pennsylvania.
Being tired of the typical chain hotels with crummy beds and so-so breakfast a quick web search turned up this amazing hotel! A warm welcome lead us to a nicely appointed room with a super comfy bed. This hotel is loaded with history as well as all the modern creature comforts. The breakfast is better than any I have experienced in many years of travel to all parts of the world. Top-notch, super clean, and an unbelievably low price. The views from our room on the 8th floor were beautiful. The location is great. Keep doing what you are doing, because you got it right!
Last year we were in the area for my company's Christmas Party and decided to stay at a local hotel. We happened to select the Genetti and we were thrilled with our choice. The hotel was beautiful, historic and filled with spectacular Christmas decorations. Although we've stayed at hotels all over the country we've never been to a hotel where the staff was so warm and friendly. They were so eager to make sure our stay was extraordinary. When we asked about the history of the hotel one of the staff personally gave us a tour of some of the unique spots in the hotel. Our room was far nicer than we expected, spacious, clean and very comfortable. We determined that day that we would come back again this year. We arrived here yesterday and were not disappointed. The high standards of service at this hotel are really remarkable. Checkin is at 3pm but we arrived in town earlier than expected (about 1pm). We spoke to Cheryl at the front desk and she not only let us check in early, she also upgraded us to the Bob Hope Suite (where Bob Hope stayed years ago). She was so professional and helpful. The suite is spacious and well appointed. Just beautiful. After the Christmas party we came back to the hotel and stopped by the lounge for a snack. We happened to have the same waiter we had at our visit last year. We only spoke to him one time a year ago for about half an hour but he remembered us and several very specific things about us (including what we ordered last time). His name is Akim and his service was outstanding. If you are in the area do not miss out on the opportunity to stay at this gem. Spacious, clean, comfortable and affordable accommodations with an out of the world staff. You will not be disappointed. Staying here has become one of our Christmas traditions.
I have lived out of a suitcase most of my adult life. An i would be hard pressed to say i have been treated better than when i have stayed at the Genetti. The Hotel has an old soul an the staff diverse an caring. I highly recommend staying for buisnes pleasure what have you. Looking forward to returning an actually kinda miss it when I am away. Yes the staff makes you feel as if you were at home.
This hotel was a good experience from check in to check out. It is a step back in time to a more gracious era and everyone makes you feel welcome right down to the maids. They treat you like family. We did receive an upgrade on arrival and our room was wonderful. The breakfast at the hotel is AMAZING. I can't imagine anyone wanting anything more at breakfast because the choices are so extensive. I've seen a lot of breakfast buffets, but this one was really something. Everyone was helpful including my pre-check in call to the hotel with the front desk clerk Signe and the welcoming check in by Cheryl. Genetti's is right in downtown Williamsport, so you can walk to a lot of places and there was a view of some classic buildings from our window. We got a lot of help with finding places in town from the girls at the front desk. We had asked for a recommendation for a Chinese buffet restaurant from the front desk and got the locations of two including directions on how to get there. The one that was closer to the hotel had changed ownership but we decided to try that one anyway. If you are a Chinese buffet fan, do not miss the Nagoya Buffet. It is not a long drive and the food is wonderful. At the end of the meal, we were brought hot towels for our hands * nice touch.* We were ready to leave the hotel at checkout, but I had to visit the Ladies restroom on the lower level of the hotel. That was an eye popping experience. Talk about a step back in time. It's positively elegant. I did take the time to see several other rooms while I was there and each one is unique. I hope to be back at Genetti's on any future trip to Williamsport. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Truth be told, I didn't want to leave.
A beautiful hotel to stay at. I checked in at 3am and the guy at the front desk told me that I could check out at 1pm because I'd arrived so late. The hotel was very clean and the atmosphere was so relaxing. My room was very clean and very well maintained. I believe there were six pillows on my bed, with bad shoulders this was very helpful for me to position myself for a great sleep. Parking was easily assessable and the lighting was very bright at night. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many foods to choose from. The people at the front desk were absolutely wonderful people and very courteous. If you want a clean, relaxing place to stay, this is the place.
I lov this hotel. They treat you like family and it's really the only place to stay if you are in Williamsport. Staff is great, breakfast that comes with stay, is so ridiculously good . Yum, biscuits and gravy! And cheese grits! What? Thanks for helping us feel welcome.
the genetti is an older style hotel in downtown, they have tried to preserve the 1920s-1940s feel of the property with corridors lined with photographs of the great and the good of those eras that have stayed or visited. our room was nice with a good view over downtown and the hills beyond, breakfast was ok but the bar where it is served is in the middle of refurbishment so it's a bit haphazard, staff were lovely.
First, gps couldn't find address. Called hotel and they said it happens all the time and they don't know why. Gave me the address to a bar to help find the hotel. After driving in circles for 40 minutes (one way streets, street closures and a car fire, not ours) we finally figured out how to get to the front of the hotel. No where to park so we were told it was okay to illegally park in front of hotel. (Their parking lot was full and blocked by fire trucks). The check in person was friendly. We needed to unload the luggage, they gave us a kitchen cart because they couldn't find any of their luggage carts. It worked. We were so tired we would have used anything to get our luggage upstairs. The bar/restaurant was packed and the entire lobby area reeked of cigarette and cigars from people smoking in the doorways. Finally got to the room (slowest elevator ever), it was clean but really rundown. Bed wasn't very comfortable. We were on the 10th floor and it was quiet, thank Goodness. Breakfast buffet was empty when we got there. One person running back and forth couldn't keep it stocked so everyone was standing around and taking food as quickly as it was put down. Overall not worth the effort or price. I noticed the hotel had charged the card I used to reserve but also charged the card I gave them at check in. At checkout they said that they had charged the original card because they were full that night and we were late. (Keep in mind I called them at the check in time and an additional two times before we arrived letting them know we were coming but would be late). I am still waiting for the money back on the other card. If you have a choice, choose somewhere else.
Front desk staff very courteous and thoughtful. I still remember the persons name who helped me. Thanks Cheryl! You will not get personal treatment from someone at a corporate chain like you will here. Unless you're at the Ritz Carlton. The Genetti is a far cry from the Ritz, but it's nice and clean. My room smelled like leather and wood. The whole place is dated, but that is sort of the appeal. I'd recommend the bathrooms get updated. However, it all works well and is clean and well appointed. I'm told the breakfast buffet is very good. Appears to have a nice bar at street level. Plenty of parking. There are a lot of decent restaurants with in walking distance. You are not staying anywhere better for the money. The rate is very inexpensive in general and especially considering the accommodations. Forget your rewards points. This is better.
Our family was on a long road trip and fortunately stumbled upon this gem. It was well worth the detour from the highway and we could not have been happier with our stay. The front desk staff was very welcoming and we were able to get a enormous room, with three beds and a sitting area, to fit our family at an amazing price. The room was modern and clean with very comfortable beds. The historic decor in the lobby area was quant and interesting. Breakfast, in the morning was plentiful with an array of options. What a refreshing night! We would absolutely go out of our way to stay here again.
From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out our stay could not have been more perfect. Our check in was slightly delayed as the woman ahead of us was very agitated that she had failed to find the parking lot. The desk clerk (Tim) was polite, friendly, apologetic and informative. But she was as mad as a wet hen and nothing he could do was going to break her mood. He never stopped smiling or trying to create a happy customer. We were next and had a good chuckle and an easy check in - yes, coming from the interstate the parking CAN be a little challenging on the 1-way streets of Williamsport but with traffic so light, it's really no big deal to circle the lot. Our 2 room suite was fabulous on the 4th floor. Equal parts historic hotel, 70's throwback and modern convenience. My wife and I had a good chuckle with some of the amenities (in wall hair dryer) but some of the period furniture was spectacular. The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioner was just right during a heat wave, and the wifi was stronger than any hotel I've ever stayed in. It was a very enjoyable step back in time. Housekeeping was outstanding and our room was prepared on a daily basis. The free breakfast would run you $25-30 somewhere else in town - too bad we only took advantage of it 2 out of 4 days. The cook and waitress were friendly and attentive and the buffet stations were not loaded up with food drying out. They regularly came out of the kitchen to refresh the buffet trays. What a tremendous perk which puts other hotel breakfasts to shame. The location is fabulous in downtown Williamsport within easy walking distance to restaurants, pubs and the beautiful old town downtown stroll. Also easy walking distance to several historic sites - don't miss the visitor bureau just two blocks down the street for great inside info. Our checkout was a breeze. Can't wait for our next visit!
From my first telephone call with the Genetti I knew we had lucked out! Being in charge of picking a hotel for 13 plus families can be a bit stressful. We arrived at the Genetti and immediately my anxiety disappeared. Alicia at the front desk had been incredibly responsive throughout the booking process and when we arrived was just as helpful if not more. Check in was easy and stress free, the hotel is so charming. It is historic and the grandeur of the lobby is not over the top but welcoming. In fact we spent many nights congregating in the lobby enjoying the atmosphere of the hotel. Cheryl at the front desk has to be one of the sweetest individuals I have met. Not once did we ever speak where I felt I was being a problem, both she and Alicia were more accommodating than any five star resort I have stayed! to accommodate a total of 28 rooms for me, with not one single complaint from any of my guests is nothing short of amazing! Marc the GM has one of the best oiled machines with his staff and property. I can't put into words how wonderful this property is. The staff certainly makes it, but the rooms are a close tie! The beds are super comfy with housekeeping you will want to take home with you. Our room was always freshly made upon our return with clean sheets and towels. I have to say I am a snob with sheets and towels and I had no complaints at all! They were fresh, soft and always plentiful. While we didn't swim in the pool, the kids certainly enjoyed having it. We had a great cook out the week we were there and Allen along with the hotel were so kind to help it feel more like cooking out at home. The restaurant on property is also top notch. Allen does an amazing job with the breakfast each morning and was incredibly accommodating to our team each evening. I have to say this property will make me do a double look with other Best Western properties. I don't have a single negative thing to say... only when we left I felt like I was leaving family. We will certainly have to return and I look forward to staying in contact with the staff over the coming years. There aren't many hotels if any I can say that about. If you will be close to the area you won't be disappointed with the Genetti!
I booked this hotel mainly due to the lower price than some of the surrounding inns. However, upon arrival, I was amazed at the grandeur that met me! Beautiful, vintage hotel! The staff greeted me warmly, and I was then pleasantly surprised by being upgraded to a studio suite to make my business stay more comfortable! When I walked into the room, I felt "at home". So inviting! Very clean, and I had no issues with any noise. I enjoyed a meal at the taproom downstairs, which was delicious, and the staff there was very friendly as well! I highly recommend this place, and I most definitely will be returning!
Genetti Hotel was a breath of fresh air after two nights in generic inns, when you tell yourself "it was ok, it was only for a night sleep" as you walk back to the car. Genetti Hotel has old-time charm and the grand feeling to it with it's high ceilings, and metal and bronze details. Room was big and airy, very clean. Bedding was very nice and breakfast was served in real restaurant with eggs cooked to order. I usually push my family out early in the morning to continue the travel, but in Genetti I wanted to stay until the checkout time just to enjoy its historic charm. Surrounding neighborhood was very interesting, I recommend taking a stroll within 2-3 blocks radius even if you are staying for one night. We were double billed for our stay and it only took a 30 second phone call to resolve the issue which is absolutely the example of how the customer issue should be handled.
I recently stayed at this property during the LLWS. Great location! Great staff! Perfect place to stay during the LLWS. The breakfast was extremely nice. Our room was clean. The customer service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others who are looking for a place to stay in Williamsport.
Stayed here for a night . Well appointed rooms and a good reception made the stay comfortable. Complimentary coffee at the reception was good .The internet service was also complimentary. Will stay again.
For 15 years I've been staying at the Genetti on travels between SC and NY. The building has been through many upgrades while keeping the historic charm of the timber baron Williamsport. Extremely friendly staff, clean rooms, restaurant and bar, parking and the best real food breakfast! I arrived on "First Friday" to find a car show, craft vendors, street music and a Saturday morning farmer's market - all in walking distance.
We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel has beautiful historic details. It was like stepping back it time. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and the internet worked well. We'll stay again, when in the area.
Staff were awesome, breakfast was great, good value for the money. Beautiful older building, very clean and comfortable. Convenient to downtown, secure parking lot. We will be staying anytime we are in the area.
Stayed for 11 nights during Little League World Series...could not be more pleased! Great staff from check-in desk to food service to tap house to housekeeping! Room was large- bed was comfortable- food was great! Great breakfast each morning and great food from the menu throughout the day! Special thanks to Marc, general mgr- Lonnie, bar/beverage- Melissa, hskg and all the servers who went out of their way to help us! After almost 2 weeks we felt part of the Genetti family when we left!
Spur of the moment to attend LLWS. The Genetti Hotel seemed to fit the bill so we booked. Very nice 100(?) year old building that has been well maintained. Rooms are clean and fairly roomy. Baths are a bit small but the place is older but has maintained the charm of an older hotel. Anything you could want is in the room (TV, fridge, microwave). Taproom/restaurant within the facility was super for meals and adult beverages. Live music in the evening was good (just a little loud for our old ears). All kinds of other restaurants and amenities within easy walking distances. Did not have to move the car during the entire stay. Older hotel means quiet rooms. Noise was not an issue even though the place was loaded with kids. Not bad at all!! And the hotel staff, ALL the staff was great. Even after more than a week of chaos everyone was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Stay could not have gone better.
We recently went to Williamsport to see the Little League World Series. The Genetti hotel is in a prime location and only a few miles from the LLWS fields. This hotel is an older hotel. For the price it's worth it. However, the rooms, bathrooms, and elevators were very small. The staff was by far the friendliest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They truly make you feel like you are at home. The breakfast was great and had a large selection of choices. They had a room for Pin trading that my son loved, and even have a pool with a grill for the guests to use. Convenient onsite parking. Excellent all around hotel, thank you!
My husband and I stayed here to see our son compete in a DCA competition. We booked the room through Hotwire and got a great price. The room and bathroom reminded me of the size of a New York City hotel room (tiny) so I was disappointed at first. After a night in the very comfortable bed and a nice hot shower with lots of water pressure my disappointment went away. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as were all the staff we encountered. The location is centrally located with quite a few restaurants around. After reading some other reviews, I saw that they have renovated some floors but hadn't gotten to the floor we stayed on yet so I would be interested in staying again after they are done
I'm always apprehensive staying at an older hotel. But I was very pleasantly surprised by my stay here. It's a charming hotel, reminiscent of times gone by. Public spaces and room alike are clean, inviting, and updated. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone, even baked beans! Also many restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely recommend if you want to be in the city of Williamsport.
Well maintained and comfortable 110 year old hotel in downtown Williamsport. Room was good sized. Above average breakfast set-up. Walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars. Williamsport was a surprisingly lively town with outdoor music venues and people enjoying the night life.
check in was pleasant & the staff was very informative and helpful. was here on a business trip & only stayed one night. But if I have to return to Williamsport I will definitely stay at the Genetti Hotel & suites. Clean & very comfortable
Stay at the Genetti a dozen times a year and have for years and was concerned that some of its old world charm would be lost as it became part of Best Western but it turns out my fear was unfounded! Currently rooms are being renovated - stayed in one of the recently renovated rooms and it was MAGNIFICENT. Outdoor pool remains refreshing, recently renovated Taphouse had live entertainment on a Thursday night and the breakfast is a true feast. Happy to see the Genetti remains the best hotel in Williamsport!
I really wanted to like this hotel, and I do like many things about this place, but there was just not the attention to detail in the property to make this a great hotel. The building is amazing with lots of history and character. The rooms have high ceilings solid walls, everything that makes a prewar building amazing. But sadly the property has too many of those old building problems unchecked. The big problems for me were the low quality betting and towels, and slow Internet. When one stays in a hotel as often as I do the poor quality items really stick out and lessen the experience and remind you that you're just not home. I really did like my room even though it was small and there was a very small bathroom. This might have been forgiven if the bathroom was 100% but this one had some issues. I can forgive tiling and fixtures older than I am but not ones that are showing rust and have many unsightly cracks. A showerhead at eye level. A toilet from the 60s maybe 50s. It got the job done but reminded me that this was not a luxury hotel but more of a budget hotel. YMMV with room selection. I have Diamond Select with Best Western but was given very nothing extra when checking in. Granted the hotel was near fully booked and it was midnight when I checked it. Pros: High ceilings and solid walls nice furniture with full-sized standing mirror rubber ducky given with room newer refrigerator afree parkingnd microwave Location free parking great breakfast(so I am told, will update if not) ceiling fan Cons: Very slow Internet. 4G on phone was faster cheap bedding and towels very little decor. The room is just varying shades of beige with many empty walls. Very small bathroom with rusty fixtures and shoddy drywall work. Musty smell in lobby and hallways Very few open plugs and only one night stand. Conclusion: Do stay here If you not concerned with the cons. If the price is right in the hotel it makes for great budget accommodations with lots of character. Place opened in 1922 as the Lycoming Hotel. Lots of potential in this property, but Best Western needs to up its game here if it expects us to believe the branding in its hotels. What does Surestay Signature Collection mean? Absolutely nothing in my opinion, and I am a Diamond Select member.
When I decided to tour the area, I chose a hotel that I thought would be a part of the city, not just a generic transplant of a residence inn that you could book in any city. The building is "historic" but well-renovated and well-appointed with excellent beds, furniture and appliances. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and attentive. They provided great advice for walking tour routes, and hiking. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and presentation was clean and fresh. My crew loved it. I'm vegan and so can only comment on the home fries, but they were made from fresh-cut potatoes, well seasoned and mixed with caramelized onion, pepper and mushroom. I plan to make Williamsport my base camp for future hiking trips simply because this hotel and the nice city its in was so perfect.
We booked this hotel only because we got a great rate. When I searched the internet, the same room was going for over $200 a night and it is definitely not worth that amount. That being said, we did like the hotel very much. There is a great sense of history and old timey grandeur here and I like that nod to the past. We booked a two room suite (one bedroom with two beds and a living room with kitchen) on the fifth floor. It was a very spacious room and easily, comfortably accommodated our family of 6. Décor was fine, beds were okay, bathroom was partially updated and kitchen was well stocked. There was a bit of a musty smell, but no evidence of mold or any problem. I think it was just age. The room air conditioning units were a bit noisy, cycling on and off throughout the night, but it was nice to have them. My only complaints about our stay would be the poor quality of the wifi (very frustrating) and the fact that twice during our 5 day stay, no housekeeping was performed. I don't need to have sheets changed or fresh towels everyday, but having the garbage removed and toilet paper replaced would have been nice. I will say that when I approached the desk about the problem with housekeeping, the young woman at the desk was extremely helpful and apologetic and provided us with what we needed. In fact, all the front desk staff were very nice and very good at their job. Once after waiting almost ten minutes for an elevator that appeared to be "stuck" on the eighth floor, the woman at the desk walked up 8 floors to investigate for us. That is dedication and service! (Someone had stopped it to unload their bags and not restarted it.) Pool looked clean though we didn't have time to use it. Overall, we would stay again, but only if the price was right. The location is great for walking around and exploring the city center, the staff was great, and the charm is evident, it is generally clean and well cared for, but the hotel could use some updating to justify the high rates they are asking for in their rack room rates and wifi needs serious help.
I recently spent a week traveling with my two kids around the great lakes area, including Williamsport where my son was staying at the baseball camp. I found this the most pleasant hotel during that trip because of the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly staff, and the breakfast. Actually, during our trip my kids begged me to take them to higher-starred hotels (a three and a half and a four and a half start hotel) -- the Genetti was still my favored. My son was pleasantly surprised by the rubber ducky provided in the room bath. The room also had a microwave and a fairly good-sized refrigerator (something that was lacking in the higher starred hotels and which came in handy for the leftover pizza we had.
My husband and I took our two grandchildren for a quick get-away this past weekend. We asked for a pool room because they love to swim. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the clean updated room. They immediately went in the pool and had a good time. Within and hour of our arrival however, we were amazed to see what appeared to be a bunch of locals setting up a grill (even though there is one available in that area, and cases of beer . Within ten minutes of their arrival, they started with bad, vulgar language and harassed us when we walked by. We quickly went to the front desk and the gentleman (Tim) was extremely helpful and changed our room immediately. If it weren't for him, we would have just left. The new room was great and breakfast was good. This historic hotel deserves better, but needs to clean up this kind of behavior by "so called guests".
I have read some of the negative comments and I have to say I disagree. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. The staff is wonderful, I enjoyed the food and especially the breakfast. The management attends to any concern you have promptly. I enjoyed staying at this historical hotel.
We stayed here for one night this past weekend (was supposed to be for two nights, but we bailed after one night). My son was attending the Little League camp nearby, so we thought this hotel looked "quaint". BEWARE: the photos on their website are very misleading. I don't mind historic (that can be neat), but it was old and very dated/dusty. The Bar/Restaurant on-site looks NOTHING like the photos. It is dark/dreary, and the food is mediocre, at best. The "free buffet"....Um, no thanks. I've taken advantage of that at many chain hotels before, but after taking a stroll thru the buffet line, we opted to leave and find a different breakfast place (yuck). I just couldn't bring myself to eat what they were serving. The pool, oh my. Again, photos online are very deceiving. The staff was friendly and helpful. The a/c in the room was amazingly cold (that was a plus). Our room was spacious, but the bathroom was tiny. The whole place reminded us of the "Tower Of Terror" at Walt Disney World (lol, not kidding). Bottom line, I'd find somewhere else to stay in Williamsport. They have some very nice chain hotels. Lesson learned for next time.
We booked this hotel because it was listed as pet friendly and we were traveling with our dog. The hotel room was very clean. Since we were traveling with our dog, we were 'stuck' in the outdoor motel style rooms. They had been renovated and were decent, the shower area in our room needed some attention (it was clean, just dated in that area). The "dog-walking area" was just mulch and small. I realize that in the city; green-space is hard to come by. A lot of people used this mulch area for their cigarette butts! There were a group of people staying together and they were quite loud until 3 in the morning, I know the hotel doesn't have control over that but night staff should be checking the area. We were the only one sandwiched between these rooms and if we had called, they would have known. The breakfast was really good and had a lot of variety, better than other places we have stayed. Coming from the back, motel area of the hotel, it was hard to find the breakfast area some signs would be helpful. Overall, this was a decent place to stay. Thanks for being pet friendly!
The Genetti is a lovely early 20th century hotel. It is a well -kept genteel lady with stunning chandeliers in the lobby and wonderful touches of nostalgia ( Love the mail box drop between elevators that goes to the lobby.)We had a comfortable room, clean room and the staff were very professional without being stuffy. We stayed a couple nights in order to take in the Little League Museum, a mountain resort that is being restored , local shops and a evening entertainment at the near by Taber Museum. Williamsport bustles around the Genetti. There are specialty shops, am range of restaurants plus a cultural center within walking distance. We even had street music supplied in the early evening which courteously ended around 11. We will be back sometime.
This hotel is old and needs a facelift. The pictures on the website must be 50 years old. The rooms look nothing like that. It smelled of mildew. The electric is outdated with extension cords everywhere. There are no sprinklers anywhere. There were spiders on the ceiling in our room. You could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth because the bathroom was so small. The hairdryer was an antique would never go back.
We were in town for a family reunion. Our small group rented 4 variations of rooms and everyone loved them. Roscoe (family dog) was as welcome at the hotel as we were. He got the rubber duck the hotel puts in the bathroom and two new Genetti food bowls! The place is very clean, staff is overtly friendly. We had one small hiccup with the restaurant but the staff more than made up for the mistakes. We will definitely stay there next time in Williamsport.
Stayed one night as a stopping point on a work trip with a co-worker. Friendly staff. Each of our rooms was upgraded to a king suite at no extra price. The suite was large and pleasant. The lobby has some nice history - showing photos of folks who have been at the hotel like Elenor Roosevelt and Robert Kennedy. Free breakfast in the morning - great potatoes - good eggs and sausage and apple butter. Walking distance from a surprising and amazing historic district - millionaires' row, a very good and busy microbrew pub, a theater, and other shops. It is distinctive from the usual chains and I'd certainly stay again if in the area.
This building was opened as the Lycoming Hotel in 1922 during the lumber boom in the area. Now it has been updated for comfort but still retains its 1920s flavor. Our room was huge with two queen beds and a large updated bathroom. Very comfortable! The dining room where a big buffet breakfast is served is cozy and casual. Parking is in an on-site lot. This hotel is in walking distance of the center of town and of Millionaires' Row, mansions built by the lumber barons of the late 19th century, one of which houses the Peter Herdic Room, a fine dining establishment.
Stayed here on a Friday night to attend a show at the (NEXT DOOR) Community Arts Center. Well furnished room; there were a few different choices. Good price for an in-town hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet VERY good, The Bullfrog Brewery was across the street; we didn't have reservations. We had planned to go there but because of the show they wer full until showtime. It turned out, the restaurant (with bar) in the hotel had a good menu selection and the food was great. Reasonable prices too; we think better than the Bullfrog. Free parking behind the hotel with a rear entrance. Will stay here again if we go to another show at the theater next door.
I was out for a weekend motorcycle trip with friends and we decided to stay in Williamsport hotel because that was closest town of some size that we can get to by the end of the day. Just like we randomly picked Williamsport we settled on Genetti for no particular reason. We were located in little annex on the side of the original hotel building that's located next to the pool and the parking lot. The building where we stayed was probably some motel dating to 1960's. Room itself was updated with decent amount of space, good beds, fridge and flat screen TV. Bathroom was old and small with super low ceiling. I'm 6'1 and my head almost hit the ceiling while taking a shower. I am assuming that the rooms in the original building are nicer…. Hotel offers free breakfast and free parking. Breakfast is self-service buffet offering eggs, bacon, sausages, home fries and some pastries. Food is not great but not bad and given that it was offered for free no complaints there. The lobby of a hotel is weird and tired looking. It seems that last update was in 1980's and it was overcrowded with tables, cabinets and even rather bizarre looking life sized statue of a butler holding a tray with a phone. It looks like someone forgot to move the decorations after the Halloween. Which is rather shame because the building itself is rather classy and elegant. Lobby is full of photographs reveling the hotel in its original glory back in 1920's and 1930's. There is one particular photo showing lobby in its original condition showing mosaic tiles on the floor, wood paneled columns/pillars. The door leading to the restaurant where the breakfast is served is carved and decorated with metal plates in Art Deco style. Overall the hotel was fine place to crash for two nights while on a bike trip, it has good location, gated parking, comfortable beds and it's clean. Hope that the owners will put some effort to renovate/restore the hotel because the property has lot of character.
Stayed here for a night a few weeks ago and was totally impressed with the room and service. Great breakfast the next morning too! Convenient to the local pubs and sites with amazing views from the rooms!
I stayed here for 3 nights while attending a convention held at the hotel. It was built in 1920 and has had some updating--air conditioning, for example--but still maintains an old style ambiance. Because it is an older facility, there are a lot of things that are inconvenient but can't be changed due to the hotel's construction. The most glaring inconvenience is the small size of the bathrooms. I heard that some of them weren't small but mine was very small. The bathroom held a tub with a shower head, a toilet and a wooden chest. Let's just say that using the toilet was a challenge. And the sink? That was in my room. The lighting was not great, which made it difficult to see well enough to put make-up on. Those were the disadvantages. The good things about the room outnumber the inconveniences. The bed was very comfortable and there were numerous pillows. In addition to the air-conditioner, which worked very well, there was a ceiling fan, which I didn't use because I don't like the airflow directly above me. The room also had a microwave and a small refrigerator, an iron and ironing board, and an upholstered chair. Everything was also impeccably clean. The staff was great! Everybody was polite and helpful and did their best to take care of any issues that might arise. One of my few regrets about this trip was that I didn't have time to visit the local shops and stores--several looked very interesting! If I ever return to Williamsport, I think I would stay here again because of the location and the staff!
Love the older charm of this Hotel. Alot of antique furniture and aged foundation By far a mistake to compare to a "chain hotel". This hotel is full of grace and charm! My husband and I enjoyed the many various framed pictures of events in history through photos and newspaper clippings etc. Seen one of the Assassination of Kennedy that wss neat to check out. My mother inlaw had made the arrangements for the two rooms, ours a king size bed, hers had two queens. I guess there were not anymore handicapped rooms available. The front desk was very well mannered and friendly, as well as the gentleman bellhop who helps with the bags. Room was clean, Crystal did a wonderful job! I especially like the Tarocco bar of hand soap in the orange scent. Cute touch was the rubber ducky in the bathroom, our room didn't have a tub but Remy the Rubber Duckie sure did his job keeping an eye closed on us while we showered! Very dependable duck there!
Upon check in we met Mr. Genetti himself that set the tone for the rest of the weekend. The staff was so helpful and just genuinely nice especially Lonny the bartender/chef in the restaurant. The bathroom was a little tight and lighting could have been brighter, but the water pressure and massaging shower head - Perfect! Good News there is live music Friday through Sunday during the summer in the Patio (about 1-2 blocks away) Bad News if your room is on the side facing the music by the Patio. Quite a few restaurants within easy walking distance. Would stay here again!
