While the room was pleasant it lacked basics like an open outlet near desk. I had to crawl under desk to unplug coffee maker. A/c unit ws very loud and was changed out for 2nd night. No adjustment made on price. Shower control was very stiff to operate - at first I thought I had no water and reported it. No bottled water in room.
Excellent. Clean facility, clean room, nice bathroom, fast wi-fi and great customer service from the staff. Staff always very cortes and efficient. I loved that I could call and talk wtih the from desk instead of machine or revervation pool (that usally don't care about help clients). I want to leave an special thanks for Tim Badger - Front Office Supervisor, who delivered great patience and attention to accomodate my eMails and phone calls in preparation to my family trip.
BEWARE. Strong marijuana smell in our rooms each night. Cigarette smoke in the halls each night. Front desk not willing to do anything about it except open the hall doors to air out the halls. Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 adjoining rooms with my wife and small kids. When I complained they offered to comp my parking of $42. My stay cost me over $1,200. I would avoid staying here unless you're a smoker.
We have stayed here a couple times. The beds are SUPER comfortable and the rooms are clean. The complimentary face wash and extra are a good brand. They have a single serve coffee maker which is a must for us. The maintenance/ and front desk staff were very helpful when we had a concern with the shower head. We didn't have an opportunity to visit the pool but it sounded fun. Would definitely recommend to a friend or family
My husband son and I stayed here over the weekend and from the minute we arrived we loved it. So clean and welcoming the staff from front were great they had smiles and were polite we arrived a little past 8 pm it was pretty full but still calm. We got in our room loved that we had easy access to the car we stayed in other hotels and that's one of the things that can get pretty annoying is being so far from the car because of the unpacking and packing. The room was clean beds were comfortable. There is housekeepers every morning and I'm sure they are all very nice and attentive but we had a very sweet and pleasant lady always acknowledge us with a smile and a good morning and would ask us if we wanted Sevice or if needed anything when she would see us leave the room. Making us feel cared for and comfortable to ask questions. We got to enjoy the pool, my son loved it it was clean and it is stack with towels. I would stay longer if I could and will be return to the sepulveda Blvd location. With no doubt ! Thank you to all the staff they are great I wish I was good with names to name the ones we had interactions with.
The room was clean and the location is okay. The website did not list a parking fee. As a Best Western member, I am usually offered water, but nothing was available in the lobby. For the price, you can book a hotel in close proximity that also offers a breakfast. The website said "breakfast available" but I should have continued reading to understand that meant you can pay for your own breakfast at Denny's. The Keurig was not working and the toilet was not working well either. The initial staff were polite. The internet was slow. It does have a gym and a pool, but the walk was across two parking lots to get to, so we did not use it. The mattress was really soft. It didn't seem to be a long distance from Hollywood or Burbank, but remember to look at traffic during the time you want to go ahead of time, because the traffic held us up longer than we expected. (This is not the fault of the hotel at all, just in my choosing one after 9:00, rather than in the morning when I knew we would be leaving) The positive was that the room was clean, and my car was safe.
This Best Western is very centrally located and close to many freeways in the San Fernando Valley. Clean. Great Pools. Unfortuantely the hot tub wasn't working. This BW doesn't offer breakfast though and I was disappointed. no microwave either. Otherwise, nice staff and accomodating.
Lawrence is the absolute best. Terrific service very grateful. Thankful for his service. We were last minute bookings and he took care of everything without question. Thankful for his patience and for his knowledge of the process. Very encouraging.
They charge 15 dlls extra for parking per night plus no microwave, and if you want a microwave in your room they will charge 5 dlls per night
If you are looking for a comfy & clean place to stay, look no further. Right off the 405 freeway a gem. Safe for females & Dennys is attached. I loooove the place.
I've been staying here off and on for about 4 years and it's always a lovely stay for me the staff most definitely are just the sweeties
Apu was extremely helpful and made a our stay quite pleasant. I appreciated it especially given reason for our travel was something quite stressful and so for him to go the extra mile to make life easier was very important. Thank you! Aside: if you use the laundry, may be worth it to walk up to the Target to get some lower priced detergent, etc.
We booked same day for pet friendly, downstairs room. We arrived at 9pm the hotel was almost full, lots of families and folks walking their dogs. Our desk clerk checked us and approved a late check out of 1:00pm the next day. The entire process took less that 5 minutes and we settled into our 2 queen bed room. If we were staying longer I would have requested a microwave. There was plenty of easy parking, a lovely pool and several places to walk the dog. The comfortable beds, the quiet air conditioning unit, and the room was also very quiet. We had a wonderful stay
Apu and everyone at the front desk were very helpful! The room was clean and tidy and the housekeeping staff went above and beyond. Although I didn't use it the hotel had a swimming pool, laundry room, and vending machines and there is a Denny's restaurant on sight.
Comfortable bed in sherman oaks, but air conditioner didn't work; fan in bathroom didn't work; and the shower faucet was broken and falling off the wall. Add in a lot of noise from security guards walking around and others. Basically poor noise insulation through to door and front window. Oh, and they charge for parking! At a motel in LA! What, am i supposed to walk around sherman Oaks/LA? Of course i hD a car.
When I first got in a girl at the desk was cutting me off and not listening to me. I drove 14 hrs to get here and ended up a few hours early and wanted a early check in if possible. She made me want to get a new hotel to stay at. However, I went back in to speak to the gentleman at the desk his name is Apu. He was WONDERFUL! Completely changed my view and helped me get a free upgraded room due to having to wait. He was quick and very helpful. Best customer service from Apu
I stay here often because of proximity to family. Despite being near a freeway, this is a quiet and easily accessible property. The rooms are good size and amenities are nice. It has everything one needs and a very fair price. I highly recommend.
This hotel is clean and the staff is outstanding. A Dennys restaurant is on site and is a good one, food is good. Rooms are clean and beds good.
This is a older property but well maintained. Rooms are in good condition and clean. Although located next to the freeway rooms are quiet
This hotel will charge you $12 + tax to park there! I mean, honestly, very few people stay at a hotel that they did not DRIVE to. Charging for parking at a hotel is like being charged for utensils to eat your meal at a restaurant. Also, they will charge an $80 deposit as insurance that you don't trash their room? It's reimbursable, but really? Usually they have your card on file for that reason, but don't charge you! This hotel was just OK and I will not stay here again.
I was in town for a medical evaluation due to a work injury, so it was a 'business' trip basically. The appearance of the hotel when you pull up is absolutely perfect in the evening and put me in a great mood (considering being in pain and after 8 hours of traveling). It put me in a calm mood because the landscaping is so immaculate and the lighting was perfect. Everything has been maintained and it shows very well. Every employee I interacted with was great, check-in was faster than an instant cup of coffee. The rooms were immaculate as well and I couldn't have slept any better. They have a restaurant on premises and all three times I visited the meals were just as the picture shows it. lol. That never happens . It couldn't have been any better of a short stay. I would stay there anytime and was actually sad to go.
This hotel charges $12 to park for the night. The hot water should be listed as warm, there is a Dennys Restaurant attached for food but much better food a short walk away. Although it is close to the highway, noise is not really an issue.
Staff are nice but hotel has SERIOUS issues. - non smoking room reeked of cigarettes - staff accommodated us and moved us to a different room. - unknown wet spot on floor that smelled horrible next to bed. We had yo cover up with towels to prevent getting our feet wet. - sewage was backing up into sink. Sink had fecal matter and toxic waste backing up into it. The sink smelled like fecal matter and could not be used. HORRIBLE STAY
Our room was very clean and comfortable for a Pet -Friendly room, no smells or odors either. The shower amenities were great, the citrus scent of these products smelled fresh. Small pet area for dogs to potty, poop bags were provided on site.
I was staying for a few nights and even added a night to my stay because at first my stay went great. It all went bad once “Bruce” at the front desk started being rude to my girlfriend on the phone because she asked a question about room service. We then went to the front desk to get a new key card as we left it and our I.D in the room. He had told my girlfriend he could not use a picture of I.D to verify but when I walked in he said he could? Very weird…clear discrimination. We ended up having to go the police route because he was so difficult. The next morning we called to file a complaint to the manager who basically told us we had to leave the hotel(even though we had another night paid for) because of whatever story Bruce gave, very disappointing the customer is always right. The security was very aggressive to two females who are small in stature, I just found it very weird & unecessary. And on top of all that, the refund I got for the night I booked and didn't get to stay still hasn't processed! It has been past the 7-14 days and still no refund for the overpriced room? Very odd…don't stay here it caused me nothing but misery & stress.
Selected bed furthest from the door, sheet stank awful. Bed was too soft to sleep on. Anyway so I moved to the other bed. Sheets were clean but the bed was way too soft and had a rise in the middle/ trough on each side, no way to get comfortable bu no time to hassle with it. Just did the best I could for 3.5 hours of sleep.
Would stay again for one night. Helpful front desk staff. Comfortable bed. Good water pressure in the shower. Dennys attached to motel. Pet friendly. Easy access. Not too far off the freeway. Close to Studio City.
The price is high for very little in return the hotel is under going maybe an upgrade it's hard to tell. The staff work hard they have little to work with. This is a two or maybe three star hotel charging 4 rates.
We just needed a place to stay that was close to both LAX (where we landed) and US Highway 101 (where we intended to go the next day). This place was right off I-405, about 25 miles from LAX, and just a mile north of the intersection with 101. If you're going north on 101 or 405, this is a good place to stay. Our room featured a full bath, AC, phone, fridge, in-room safe, iron & board, radio alarm, coffee maker, hair dryer, and TV with 67 channels. It was clean, quiet, and well maintained. Wifi was quite good. Includes outdoor pool, but parking is extra. There is a Denny's (family-type diner chain restaurant) next door. Staff was polite & professional. We only needed one night, and this place met our needs. Its location would seem to be a good choice for visits to the Valley, but I can't guarantee how good of a place this would be for a longer stay.
There were mosquitos in the room. I.kilked atleast 3 and had over a dozen bites on legs. The shampoo was 100% empty. The room had a strong odor of marijuana l. The internet dropped connection frequently. The 24/7 Dennys closes late. There are people on the street late at night standing or sleeping on the ground.
Room was very clean and modern. Location felt clean and safe. Surprised to learn at check-in of additional $14 per night fee for parking. Not such a good rate after all. Parking stalls were much narrower than standard making it difficult to navigate and open doors.
Good location in San Fernando Valley. Very good value when compared to other options. Front desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The business office has 3 computers but no printers currently. There is a small fitness center. Room has a coffee maker with coffee pods provided.
Would definitely stay here again. Pros: - Good value for LA. - Rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. - Quiet during my visit. - Management clearly tries hard. - Friendly staff, full time uniformed security. - Maintenance staff super responsive. - 24-hr Dennys on-site. - Convenient for many attractions. Cons: - Pool is small, mostly kids using it. - Sepulveda Blvd is an unappealing neighborhood. (But safe and personally IDGAF.) - They recently added a $12/night fee for parking, which seems kind of sleazy to me since this is basically a motor court style hotel.
Easy simple check in. James was very helpful and helped extend my stay. Would highly recommend this hotel. Well placed for quick and easy access to freeway to get in and out of LA. Hot tub, pool, what more could you ask for. I had a very comfortable, safe stay.
Always amazes me that place. Customer service is impeccable, room was clean and easy parking access. I will come back again. We stayed there three days during labor day. You will be greeted with a great smile.
This place is a scam. Definitely not a hotel similar to a motel eight. My particular room had spiders. The breakfast that they say you can enjoy is at Denny's and the food was terrible. Their website states something to the effect of after a long day have a drink at the lounge and relax and this so-called lounge, It's also at Denny's and there's no lounge. This place has no amenities hardly. Literally like a motel 8 or motel six. I have no idea how it calls itself a hotel. The only thing good about this room, the bed was comfortable and the showerhead was wonderful, but when I grabbed a towel, there was a big spider on the towel also. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, the front door has no weatherstripping and that's how the Spiders are probably getting in. The front desk Troy was very nice but I believe her name was Claire or Clara definitely did not want to be there. Oh and by the way they do charge parking now. I booked my trip on August 14 and they started charging parking August 8 so even though everything told me there was no parking fees I was still charge $12 a day. Better than some of the other places that charge 30 and $45 a day but trust me pay the extra money for a different hotel. I actually almost left a day early because it was so nasty. Nobody as far as other guests were smiling and everyone felt the same way. You're paying for a hotel but you're getting what seems and looks like a motel six. The pictures I attached is one of a spider to show I wasn't kidding, the warped, bathroom door peeling of some wallpaper in the front door showing there's no weatherstripping and that's how the bugs get in. Oh, and it's extremely noisy. No insulation to speak up so you hear all of the traffic and sirens and trust me. It's a busy road and there are lots of sirens and traffic. If you have a large vehicle, you probably don't want to try to park in the parking lot. Like an RV or trailer because the slots are fairly small. Hope this helps your decision. I thought I was being careful picking a decently priced hotel, but I would never stay here again.
Tubs & sinks don't drain. Door to remote does not close/lock properly. Housekeeping leaves the door open & unlocked when you are out of the room. Poor response & lack of resolution to all issues mentioned within this review. Lack of microwave in room. No complimentary breakfast. Loud noisy rooms that border on street with heavy traffic & speeding vehicles all night long.
Everyone here was very friendly and Apu at the front desk made our stay very easy and pleasant, helping us with all of our requests and needs. The pool is Fantastic, heated and lovely, it was close to everything in Sherman oaks and easy access to all the major freeways. We have stayed here 3 times in the past two months for business and once with friends. We will come back. Thank you Apu and all the staff here :)
We booked a 2-queen room for 3 nights, planning to check in on Aug 9 and check out on Aug 12. When we came back in the afternoon of Aug 11, the whole room (Room 422) is full of smell of marijuana, especially the bathroom. Apparently, somebody smoke weed in our room, and we were a group of 2 adults and 2 6-year-old kids. We called the front desk immediately, and they offered to switch room. However, the only 2-queen rooms left are pet friendly, and we are allergic to the fur of animals. We asked if we could get 2 king-rooms, since we have 2 adults and 2 kids. The front desk lead, Colton Kirtley, immediately refused in a mean and rude way. He said all the king rooms were booked. However, we checked online and found out that 2 king rooms were still available in their website. Eventually, he basically kicked us out of the hotel. I mentioned that I am a best western member for more than 3 years and this was the first time I was cheated liked that, but they don't care. My group was Kicked Out of the hotel because someone smoke weed in our room.
Stayed in the pet-friendly room with 2 queen beds which I immediately knew was a mistake. Pros: Beds are very soft 4 pillows per bed 2 sinks in room ALMOST a corner room Cons: Room is COVERED IN FLIES Room smells AWFUL like Nature's Miracle sprays every 5 minutes It's on the first floor Nothing about the room is pet-friendly! It's the same room as the others but with an AWFUL AWFUL SMELL and TONS OF FLIES & MOSQUITOS.
I enjoyed my stay enormously. I had booked for 1 day and extended it for 2 more. The room was quiet, extremely clean and the beds soooo comfortable. IMy trip was booked for 1 day and I needed to extend it for 2 more. The hotel staff accomodated me easily and graciously. A distressing reason brought me to California, and the kindness of everyone who works at the hotel made it bearable
Arrived in the evening. The young person at the desk was professional. The room was well-appointed and my room request was met. Parking was easy despite the hotel being busy. Being located next to the freeway and on an extremely busy intersection, the room was quiet. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
This property is one of our go to Best Western location. It is convenient and the staff is polite and helpful!! Parking is great and they also allow pets. Would continue to stay at this location!!!!!!
Convenient, close to freeway, and clean. Felt safe and comfortable. Parking is tight retuning late from amusement parks. Service at restaurant was fast. Be aware you'll hear traffic during the night. All around positive!
A great location, making it easy to get to all the fun things offered in the area! It is clean and feels very comfortable and safe once inside the property! It's a great value and employees are friendly
This stay was a last minute decision. We usually stay at a Marriott. However we decided to give Best Western a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The layout was perfect for us.The front desk staff were eager and quick getting you checked in and out. The suite we stayed in was well designed.
My personal circumstances were so rare, and I was alone afraid, and wasn't sure where or how to find answers and definitely in need of comfort. I've been in hospitality a long time, and normally don't review for that reason. Karma, lol. But I have to Shout out to Carla from the desk. I don't where i would have been, if she hadn't done e very thing in her capacity, to help me feel safe and like family. Thanks Carla. True Rock Star. Keep up the good work
Everything was perfect , I can't wait to come back! The room was clean , the food was fast and delicious and it was connected to a Dennys restaurant . And the customer service was fabulous I can't wait to come back!
Great services, beautiful, flourishing gardens, hedges & awesome trees. David does a great job of it! The front desk & housekeeping staff are all superstars! Gladly recommend this nice sanctuary for those who travel with cats.
The rooms here are nice and comfortable. However the grounds maintenance man David both days went out of his way to wish us a good day, ask if he could help us in anyway, even offering suggestions on indoor fun activities since it was raining. He is an asset.
I am a pretty loyal mariott guy who travels over 1/2 the year, but when I'm in the San Fernando valley area in Los Angeles I always stay at the BW carriage inn. It's a nicely kept up hotel but what sets this place apart from most of my overnight business stays is the service provided each time I stay by Apu at the front desk. I maybe stay here 10 nights a year but he always remembers me and truly cares about his job. He is the type of employee I hire, and BW is lucky to have him. I don't write many reviews but feel like Apu deserves it!!!
Excellent hotel! Location is perfect, is on/off main/405 freeway to get anywhere in the vaey quickly. Landscaping at the hotel is spectacular. Very nice flooring outside of our pet-friendly building. Large and cozy jacuzzi area. Great parking arrangement. Excellent Denny's breakfast in the same lot. As for the room, the bed was very comfortable, there is a spacious and cold refrigerator, powerful yet quiet heater, excellent shower with great water pressure, nice big window in the back to get plenty of fresh sun light in the room during the day. Even being close to the freeway the road noise was not much at all, never disturbed us. Excellent front desk and housekeeping staff as well!
Checking in started out a bit confused but the woman at the front desk worked very hard to sort it out, which turned out to be a mistake by central reservations. She then proceeded to check us in early, and upgrade our room (we are Diamond Select Members). The room was very comfortable, clean, and well appointed. Every single employee that we met was friendly, professional, and always offered help. Driving in LA is very stressful for us as we are from a very small town and this hotel provided a much needed Oasis. If the usual BW free breakfast is important to you, note this hotel does not provide breakfast. There is a Denny's right next door which has nothing to do with the hotel. We literally stay in this hotel every time we come to LA and sincerely appreciate everyone that works there!!!
It an era of cutting corners, it was nice to see some amenities were not cut at this motel. Our room was cleaned daily..... WOW. Don't see that much anymore. We stayed for seven days. A few hiccups, but hey no big deal. We got daily cleaning and 6 out of 7 days had our bed made. One day they forgot the towels, we just called and they had them right there. Noisy? Yes. Next to a major intersection. Fire station down the street. Didn't use the pool. Smaller than the pics show. A breakfast would be nice, but I knew they didn't have one when I made the reservation. But, then again, I don't know where they would put it. Would I stay again? Probably.
On the upside, our room was fine, basically a typical Best Western room. The front desk people were very nice and helpful. The problem with this place is THE NOISE. I stay at approximately 30 motels/hotels a year because of my job. This place is one of the NOISIEST places I've ever stayed.....it just seemed to be one thing after another. One problem is that this motel is sandwiched between the 405 freeway and the busy Sepulveda Avenue. But oddly, that wasn't the biggest problem. The walls are very thin and our room had a door on the side wall of our room to the room next door.. Of course it was locked but that wasn't the problem, With that door being there, we seemed to hear everything emanating from the room next door. At times it sounded like the people next door were actually in our room. If for whatever reason you have to stay there, I'd suggest a room in the middle of the hotel and on the first floor, which is what we asked for, because it was probably the quietest part of the hotel, as far as the freeway out side this motel. For me, the best part of staying at this hotel was checking out, which was a relief.
The Carriage Inn is by far the best hotel in Sherman Oaks and possibly the entire San Fernando Valley. Staff is exceptionally courteous and caring, (Thank you, Colton and Troy) rooms are clean and spacious (we've stayed there twice now) and the Denny's on site is the best darn Denny's we have ever eaten in. Food always cooked very well (cooks are first rate) and the waiter-waitress staff was always wonderful (we had Daniel wait on us this past Saturday night and Leslie Sunday morning. We will be back again soon.
Very nice and efficient staff, room and property was very clean and nice. Room was clean and quite, bed was also comfy. Also enjoyed that they had a Denny attached to the property of the hotel for a quick and good breakfast on our way out! Check in and out were quick as well. Would stay again if I'm the area
Overall I was very impressed with this Best Western, especially for the value. I traveled for business and stayed two nights. My room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I love that it is attached to a 24/7 Denny's in case you need a quick bite! I also utilized both the business center (I needed access to a printer and it delivered) and the fitness center which were both great. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the noise - it is located on a busy street which was incredibly loud. So bring earplugs.
This stay was a mixed bag for us, and while not all will have the same experience as us, this was our stay. We arrived early by mistake at about 2:15pm (check-in is 3pm). We waited in line about 15min to be told that there are no rooms, to come back, and that check-in is 3. I said please don't give our room away and was assured that wouldn't happen. We come back at 3pm and there are no rooms. Thankfully the 2nd gentleman was resourceful, called room service and found us a room. He also was very helpful with some other things. We walk to the room and people were smoking weed a lot and that would be consistent through the stay no matter where you were. We check-in to what I would consider a very nice room, and then the power goes out (thank you CA) and no TV or internet the rest of the night, at least our room didn't loose power like the rest. We enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi & the exercise room which we found to be very nice and above par. We go to bed and the noise from Sepulveda Blvd is horrible. I think if you stay here specifically request a room off of Sepulveda and if the power doesn't go out, it is a nice place to stay.
Book this hotel if you want to hear your neighbors conversations. Smell whenever someone in the parking lot or hotel is smoking (even though the hotel has signs posted everywhere that say it is a non smoking hotel -- but it is NOT enforced in the slightest). Hear and smell when the person in the room next to you is taking a dump. Or just generally don't want to rest or relax comfortably. Also it should be noted we brought up this concern 5 times to the hotel staff. Not once did the staff seem to care or attempt to remedy the problem at all. Their only solution was us moving to a different room. Which isn't practical at 10 pm with 3 small children.
Extremely nice room and employees. I will stay there again next time I'm in the area. However the mattress was a little too hard for me, but that may have been my problem because I don't have much natural body padding.
First time staying at this hotel but not our first time in a Best Western. Hotel. The location worked out for us. There is a Denny's located adjacent to the hotel, a Shell gas station across the street, and Universal Studios is 20 minutes away. Check-in was easy and they offer free parking. The room was clean and comfortable. A refrigerator and keurig machine is provided however, no microwave. Overall, we were happy with our stay.
Friendly staff to check us in to the maid service. Everyone had a smile on their face and seemed happy to be serving the customers at The Best Western Carriage Inn in Sherman Oaks. It was a very pleasant stay and Denny's was on the property. Very good food!
The front desk had personnel help carry my bag upstairs since they do not have an elevator in part of the hotel. The night clerk Bruce was incredibly helpful with connecting me to the Internet so I could call my ride the next morning, thank you ! Reasonable prices, centrally located in the San Fernando Valley. I have already booked a future stay.
The staff was very non understanding in the situation we booked and paid thru Priceline and hotel made us pay again even once Priceline confirmed they still were rude about it, had them contacted and still didn't rectify problem
This place is definitely in my top ten favorite places to stay in the LA area without breaking the bank, and one of my favorite Best Westerns. About ten years ago I stayed here, and it was a very good experience. Since then the place has been updated and the rooms remodeled. My recent stay was even better than the first. The landscape around this hotel is lush and beautiful. It really provides a pleasant contrast to the concrete city around it. There's plenty of parking, and a Denny's that you can get to through the parking lot. The room was clean and looked like it had been updated fairly recently. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, and the room included a fridge. The only downside to the room was a tiny gap between the door and its frame, which allowed smoke from a smoker outside to waft into my room. The location is very convenient; close to both the 101 and the 405. With that convenience, however, does come noise. Sepulveda is a large road, and there will likely be traffic noise and maybe sirens. As someone who lived in LA for awhile, I'm not sure where you would find a place to stay that doesn't have traffic noise. I look forward to staying here again.
Bi-annually I travel to the LA area for work and always stay at this Best Western. The last two visits in particular have been memorable for the service and hospitality that are offered from the moment I walked through the front doors to the lobby. Coming from the east coast I tend to arrive a bit early and work to navigate a schedule more conducive to their normal check in time (3pm). While on the phone I was told by a different concierge that I could not check in until at earliest 2 (and there was still no guarantee), I nonetheless decided to arrive and see if I could at least drop off my bags while I waited elsewhere for my room (which mind you, would have been over 4 hours' wait). Upon arrival, I was pleasantly greeted by Apu who after pulling up my reservation history recognized me and worked to find an available room. Needless to say I'm grateful for Apu's attentiveness and patience as we navigated my check-in. The grounds are always spotless and it's always a lovely little respite from the chaos of the city. Definitely my top choice of stay when it comes to business travel.
Some Noise on 2 floor was from Sepulveda -dies down in evening. Well lit. Safe. Well done small fitness room: Dumbbells, cable machine, treadmills. Adjacent Dennys above average. Staff friendly & efficient .
Hotel property was clean. Rooms were ok. Bed was comfortable. My only knocks are lack of dining options and location. There is a Denny's connected to the hotel but nothing else within walking distance. As for location, let's just say that this would not be the best option for tourists. Overall, not a bad property. A little overpriced for the location.
Colton was so nice and helpful! He helped me figure out I had enough points for a free stay from all the times I stayed at the Best Western in San Francisco. He has great customer service and is a valuable member of the Best Western Team!
Stayed here for 4 days for Business. The check-in was smooth and the staffs are friendly, there is no lift so if you're carrying heavy luggage and are staying in the second floor, you'll have to carry it up through the stairs. The room is comfortably big, feels old but clean enough. The toilet feels like it's just been refurbished. Double sink is great if you're here with family. There were complimentary soap bar and shampoo. All are good until night time, the streets are noisy, loud bike, music and cars can be heard through the night, perhaps it's the weekend, can't say for sure. I didn't managed to get a good rest due to the noise. I do recommend doing some sort of soundproofing for the room.
I visit the LA area frequently, and have stayed in a variety of accommodations from airbnbs (they almost all disappeared during the pandemic) to upscale hotels to uncomfortable/unpleasant rooms. We chose the Best Western in Sherman Oaks for its proximity to the Van Nuys location where we would be working late -- after midnight. If I'd looked a little closer at the map, I might have noticed that the property was sandwiched between 405, Burbank, and Sepulveda. While this facilitates easy freeway access, it also means...noise. Fortunately, we were at the other side of the property from Burbank and 405. Unfortunately, the firetrucks screamed up and down Sepulveda all night. The lack of soundproofing also meant that fellow guests who felt like partying or fighting at 4 am woke up the rest of us. Either the BW+ attracts unusually rude guests, or the acoustics serve to amplify any noise. The HVAC system is also noisy, but it was far enough away from the bed that it wasn't a huge annoyance. The Inn is seriously underparked. Coming back after midnight meant driving around in circles trying to find a spot, competing with other hapless guests in the same situation. Our room was grungy, with a mattress that had seen better days and cheap, uncomfortable pillows. In my opinion, a hotel's #1 job is to provide comfortable beds -- all other amenities are nice to have, but sleep is the priority. Between the constant noise and the awful beds, none of us got much sleep during our three nights there. What I did like: the room had two sinks, one inside the bathroom proper and another one near the closet. The wifi was fine, the fridge kept everything cold, and none of us crashed into the full-length mirror, which is in an awkward location. (Why even bother? You've got mirrors over the sinks.) There is nothing within walking distance of the BW+, other than the Denny's. However, there are lots of good restaurants about 1.5 miles away on Ventura, and many deliver. Yes, delivery costs a small fortune, but the BW+ Carriage Inn is relatively affordable (for LA) and parking, if you can find it, is free.
I'm a regular here. Apu is always so helpful! Everytime I stay here he knows exactly what I want and what room I like. For someone to go above and betond like that in today's times is very important. Hotel is always nice and clean.
The was clean. Their plumbing did not work: the shower did not drain well. The mechanics that came to fix it claimed he had already fixed it. Then why did my son stand with water up to his knees when showering . Their electrical outlets did not work. We called for the room to be cleaned and were told they were already too busy. A ripoff for the price
My family and I always book this hotel when going to the LA area. We love how convenient it is from the next door restaurant. My small children love the pool. We love their excellent customer service and cleanliness of the rooms. Never a disappointment.
The hotel's Best Western reservation site boasts that breakfasts are typically complimentary, but says to check individual hotel amenities. When we checked this hotel, it showed the dining symbol and said restaurant on premises. NO MENTION WAS MADE THAT BREAKFAST IS NOT COMPLIMENTARY. When we came to the office to ask where breakfast was, they told us for the first time that breakfast is not complimentary. This practice is deceptive and underhanded. Will never stay here again.
I checked into the room and it was very nice for a Best Western hotel. The hotel staff were friendly as well. But this hotel happened to be on an extremely busy street. My room was located closest to the busy intersection right off the freeway. And I could hear all the noises coming from the street. It was not easy trying to fall asleep at night.
No breakfast - very unusual for BestWestern. Otherwise adequate hotel, and conveniently located, though very over-priced for what it is. Wifi good. Parking lot very crowded. TV didn't have a lot of the regular channels - for example, Fox Business.
We stayed at the hotel almost monthly. This is a pet friendly hotel which is clean and cost effective. The staff is friendly and check in and check out process is efficent. The location is convenient also.
This is a very old hotel that has been modified, restored and you name it, although in a good location, continues to be old. Our room smelled as it had previously been a smoking room or perhaps humidity. The hotel has no elevators and they had assigned us a second-floor room. The problem was resolved. Finally, I was deceived. This is the only BW in recent years that offered NO breakfast. Breakfast is a primary reason for our stays at BW
I've stayed this location at least few times per year, until COVID started. Great Location! then I stopped traveling for 2 years for COVID Finally I started traveling again and stayed there for 5 days. Good Customer Service as always, Clean Room, But Unfortunately There were Constructions going on again.....Sadly... I remembered that Constructions was Only CONS at this location 2, 3 years ago, and I asked front desk when I was booking this trip about it, "THERE ARE NO MORE CONSTRUCTION RIGHT?" She said "NO, NOT ANYMORE" 2nd day I arrived There was a Note on my door saying the There will be "CONSTRUCTION!!!!" and They were Blocking many of Parking Area, So It was very difficult to Parking every time. Also Last day of stay Bathroom sink started Leak from bottom and Bath room got Flooded.... I had to use all towels to clean it... It Seems like Never Ending on going problems from every angle... I do not recommend someone can not deal with problems. Otherwise OK.
On the plus size, the room was large, bed was comfortable and it had a refrigerator. Location is convenient to freeway and restaurants. The bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. The website mentioned a modified breakfast, but the hotel did not offer breakfast. As a solo female traveler, I didn't feel that it was the safest place to be walking around after dark - I saw a suspicious character eyeing me and my vehicle when I arrived one night after 11PM.
Clerical error caused us to get the dreaded room #140! Our reservation was booked on some random date so when we arrived they gave us the worst room I believe. Don't expect a good night sleep, Burbank blvd and Sepulveda are extremely loud! Any rooms in the 140 wing are terrible! Our toilet ran all night, AC unit is loud! Horrible experience!!!
From check in to check out, enjoyed my weekend here. The w room was clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful, especially Lawrence at the front desk! Also appreciated the availability and use of the fitness room.
I spent a week stay at the Best Western Plus in Sherman Oaks. Apu and the rest of the staff at the BW Plus Carriage Inn were very always very courteous and helpful. The hotel was clean and safe. I would definitely stay here again. TN
I did not have a restful night at this Carriage Inn. Staff was friendly enough, but the property is neglected. There's no sound insulation at the door or the big front windows. Everything going on outside can be heard. Cars on the street sound like they are right outside your room. People walking by talking at normal volume sound like they are right inside your room. Doors slam shut and every time a neighbor slammed their door it sounded like someone was pounding on my wall. The air conditioner/heater made a god awful broken sound like dishes being clanged together, so no heat meant I was cold and couldn't drown out the sounds and sirens from outside at all. The caulking in the shower is cracked and missing and I saw a rather large something with antenna crawl into the crack in the shower wall... Gross. In addition after getting no sleep in a saggy bed, there was mold and filth in the top of the coffee machine which I saw right before I started to make a coffee. I can not recommend this place. It's not like it's a budget hotel, I expected standards. Boy was I mistaken. Staff was nice enough but didn't ask how my stay was at checkout. I hope the property sees this and corrects these simple issues for the next unlucky guest.
My family and I chose this Best Western because it is close to Universal Studios (15-minute drive) and has free parking. It was exactly what we needed for one night - it was clean, convenient, and safe, with very nice front desk staff. There was not a breakfast included with the stay, but the hotel is next to Denny's. The room we stayed in had a nice fridge but no microwave. Overall, it was a great experience to stay here.
Damn rooms still smell like cigarettes. Other than that and their squeaky beds, over priced hotel. Front desk was amazing in handling my check in and out. House keeping kept bugging after repeated “no thank you”'s.
The location is ok but you'll hit some traffic to get anywhere - the room itself was old and not very clean. The pillows were old and lumpy and gave us rashes around our necks. We asked for coffee and that was never sent to us either
Don't recommend the property. Front desk agent was clueless, desk chair in the room was disgusting, lamps dusty, staff not helpful when a problem arose, very little soundproofing (we clearly heard the family in the connecting room making plans to visit Knott's Berry Farm).
Great hotel to stay at - clean, comfortable, and we'll managed. They run a tight ship. Beautiful landscaping as well. We stayed there many times this year and it's just an easy, comfortable place to reside.
The rooms have good amenities that are comfortable and thoughtful. Unlike many Hotels in the area, they offer daily room cleaning upon request. They have a great business center, and a Denny' restaurant on the property. Just spent a week there and had a great experience.
DO NOT STAY - WIFI SUCKS. Website says breakfast offered, but no breakfast available. Pool heated? that's a no. The smell of "you know what" happened at all hours. It was disgusting. Just an overall stay that was hideous.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Carla and I believe Julian the receptionist and the manager were all helpful with any questions we had about our room. We had a very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The door of the room didn't shut all the way. When I called for the room to be clean it wasn't. The person who came to bring clean towels had them all crumpled up and dropped them and ran. The outside of the hotel looked like it had been rehabbed and for the most part it looked decent and the room was decent.
Love the staff! I've stayed here at least 20 times anytime I'm in town I never want to stay anywhere else. The price is pretty expensive given the caliber or hotel but all the other amenities average out to make it doable
Decided to book a room here to have a place to get ready and relax before a night on the town with friends. After looking around for potential hotels, I found this one that was in the center of the activities we would be doing. It was reasonably priced and although I was a bit hesitant on booking near the area it was in, it was surprisingly calm. I had no issues with my room. The beds were very comfortable and clean. I really appreciated the amount of pillows they put on each of the beds. The cleanliness of the bathroom was also a plus, the floors and tubs were super shiny and there were plenty of fresh towels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I checked in with William and he kindly got a map out and drew a detailed route for me to get to my room. When I first got to the hotel, I parked on the opposite side of where my room actually was so that was super helpful. All in all I had an excellent stay here and will definitely be back another time.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Everything was clean, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was very professional and friendly. The hotel seemed full but it was not noisy and the parking was convenient. I will definitely stay here again.
Our 2 rooms on the second floor of the tower were clean and, especially given the location near a freeway and off a major street, quieter than we expected. Also, the air conditioning and mini-frig were quiet, which often is not the case in similar hotels. (Note there is no microwave.) The bed was very comfortable even though the pillows were not the kind I normally like. We really appreciated the two sinks, one in the bathroom and another one just outside near the closet. (We had rooms with 2 queen beds. I don't know if every type of room has this useful feature.) Having these two sinks made getting ready to go out much easier. The only shortcoming of the rooms were the shower heads which restricted the water flow to such a degree that you felt you were trying to shower in the rain. We plan to stay at this hotel any time we need a place to stay in the valley. It should be noted that there are few good hotel options in the area, so if you are looking for a clean, nice place to stay, this is a very good choice. I should also mention that the free Wi-Fi was decently strong and the free convenient parking was appreciated. Free parking in LA is a big deal. By the way, we had the best waitress at the Denny's, which is in the complex and the food there was better than one would expect at a Denny's. We had breakfast there both mornings and the second day the waitress greeted us like regulars. This Denny's will also deliver to your room. In short, the hotel exceeded our expectations.
Great place to stay, Great people from the maintance to the desk Respetionest!!! I will definetly stay again, Closre to everything I neeeded and safe neighborhood Close to freeway easy access fast check in and check out!
The hotel is relatively inexpensive and in a good location off the freeway. However, the rooms are dark and ours had a bad musty smell. Also there is no breakfast service, even a modified one and this was not clear to us from the website. The beds were comfy but not sure we will stay here again.
Room was clean and well-maintained and the pool was wonderful after a long day of driving. Room on the Sepulveda Blvd side of the complex was very noisy throughout the night, which did not provide a very good night's sleep. Two calls were made to the front desk but the promised assistance never happened.
The people who work here like Triston and Carla take such great care of this roadside hotel that it really shines with cleanliness, style, and a warm, welcoming spirit towards all. I've stayed here dozens of times and always look forward to my next visit!
This place is perfect. Clean friendly and pet friendly! I ll definitely stay again!! Ive stayed here twice. And have been very happy with everything. And the Dennys next door has great breakfasts! I don't usually eat at Dennys. But this one has good food. Also the parking lot is really lit up. I felt safe.
We drove in 6 hours from Phoenix and arrived at the hotel hoping to check in early, and we did. An early check-in was the only nice thing about staying here. Upon entering the elevator area the heavy odor of cigarettes filled the air. This was unexpected since the entire building boasts of a non-smoking environment, the main reason I booked here. Got to the 3rd floor, exited the elevator and saw there was cigarette ash everywhere under the chairs of the balcony area. On our way to our room we passed by a cleaning cart in the hallway and assumed this area would be cleaned later. Got to our room and it wreaked of cigarettes. I sprayed rubbing alcohol which I brought to disinfect our hands from Covid), sprayed everywhere to counter the odor, dropped our bags then left to join our friends. Noticed the cleaning cart was gone but the ashes were still there. Driving away I saw a woman smoking over the 2nd floor railing dropping her ashes over the bushes on the lower floor/ entrance. Unacceptable. By the time we came back, hours later btw, the odor of smoke was still there and then I realized the room was not properly cleaned. There was a strand of hair in the soap dish under the sealed soap, popcorn on the floor next to the bed by the window, and the gross refrigerator that was never cleaned. The kids were tired and fell asleep but when I put my head down to bed, the pillows smelled like cigarettes too. The room needs a deep clean! It was almost midnight and I was exhausted. I know I should have called in to complain but since the kids managed to fall asleep and we were leaving by 5am the next morning I decided attempting to move to another room (if any were available) would have been too much of a production and wasn't going to fix my mood. So I tried to overlook the odor until I smelled our neighbor's pot smoking from next door. It was as if he opened his room's adjoining door and exhaled into our room. (Sigh) I give up. This is LA and I won't be back for a long time. Thank goodness for that and express check out because I was not feeling myself. I would have yelled at the desk rep. As a nonsmoking family traveling with children this short stay was awful, unacceptable. I agreed to pay the extra $100 at the time of booking since it was a Saturday night and its location was ideal. But I would book elsewhere. The cleaning staff did not do their job, I am so disappointed.
I stayed with my wife here for 2 days and everything was perfect. Hotel Staff was very thoughtful, polite from when we checked in to the end.. , and very helpful. We originally chose to stay here because it was close to the venue we were in town for. and the one big thing we def. appreciated the rooms and property where very clean, love it? well definitely stay here again when were in town.
My husband and I came out for a wedding and the hotel was perfect for our stay! It was centrally located to all of the wedding venues we had to be at making it very easy to get to where we needed to be, especially being right off the 405 freeway. Burbank airport was only 15 mins away too! We stayed in one of the suites and we absolutely loved it! The rooms were very clean and we even had his and her own bathrooms in the suite which was so nice when getting ready. The staff was very friendly and made the check-in process quick. We even forgot shaving cream and when requesting this from the hotel, they had all the toiletries right at the front desk that we needed. We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend staying here!
Good room; clean and comfortable. Would have been ice to have a microwave in the room. great location. All of us enjoyed the pool and the extra towels that were provided. Denny's restaurant on the property is a plus. Big downside was the lack of newspapers. Best Western used to provide complementary daily papers. I don't have a portable computer so a pc in the lobby would have been helpful.
I've been staying at the Carriage Inn for a number of years now, I'll be here for 2 years this stay 2-3 nights a week. Front desk has always been super helpful, friendly and call me by my name upon arrival. A special shout out to Carla as she is upbeat, happy and always tries her best to keep me in the same room. That is huge for me. I'm pleased to support The Carriage Inn.
I check in on Sunday: Aug 8th. I stayed for a week. The gentlemen in the front desk was really nice. Very helpful with all my questions. Even the house keepers were great! I will recommend this place to all my friends and family!! Rooms were super clean! I am really picky when it comes to hotel. My experience was awesome!
Best stay Best service very clean Very friendly and helpful staff specially Williams I recommend to everyone visiting Los Angeles Great location minutes from all exciting places in L A Close to all freeway minutes from 101 and 405 Minutes to universal Hollywood
I stayed here a couple of times and I each time I've had a very pleasant experience so I decided to share. There's always fast and polite service at the front desk. They are always happy to accommodate any needs. The hotel is very clean and very spacious. Near to restaurants and activities. I will be happy to stay here once again once back in Los Angeles
I had the pleasure to stay at best western many times so I decided to stop in here to leave a review. Definitely worth the price, the rooms are spacious, extremely clean, beds are big and renovated bathrooms. Williams is been always helpful, the stuff are very attentive and the area is safe and beautiful. Love the fact they have dennys open 24h give you the option to order any time. I will be back soon!
I had room 248, right by the busy street and it was busy. Lots of sirens several times per night. My TV remote had only 1 of the 2 batteries so I called the lobby. The lady said she would tell housekeeping. Never got any batteries for the remote. I even saw the housekeeping the next day and told her. Noting. There was also a very sticky spot on the floor, in the carpet.
The most horrible customer service . I checked into this hotel for a 4 night stay with my wife and 2 kids I checked in late at 3:00 am and didn't find any parking after some struggle found a spot quite away from my room. The next day we went to universal studios and returned at 9:00 pm and found bugs all over the beds . They were certainly not ants or mosquitoes but something strange. We called the front desk and requested them to replace the bedsheets but to my surprise they refused , they just dropped few bed sheets and asked me to change it as there was no staff, they also sent someone with a mosquito spray who refused to spray and asked us to do it ourselves. I spoken to multiple people in the front desk (don't want to share their names ) and requested either someone change the linens or give us another room. I certainly Didn't pay $200 for this service but they Didn't budge. It was already 10:30pm and then I finally requested them to at least allow me to check out without charging me for the night because they failed to meet the basic requirements for my stay and they refused again. They just said we can't do anything and you have no choice but to stay. We all were tired with 4 hours of sleep the previous night and a full day in universal studio. I didn't have the strength to argue any further. My little one refused to sleep but we somehow struggled through the night and checked out the next day .. This was my first stay with this brand and have lost my trust for life .
The rooms smelt like weed, alot of illegal activities happening (prostitution/drugs), not recommended for families or kids at all, not safe, the also refuse to add an extra bed to the room because it's a fire hazard lmao, guests are smoking weed in the hallways the rooms and the parking lot the smell was everywhere, I saw three guys in the corner of the parking lot hitting a crack pipe or something,
Clean rooms. Great staff. Extra special thank you to William Choxom. He was kind, efficient and professional. What a Class act!!! He was very helpful and made the stay more enjoyable. We will be back!!
I've been coming here for about two years on and off. The rooms are very clean and it is a great location close to many stores as well as a movie theater and several restaurants. There is also a Denny's attached. The staff is friendly for the most part. I find the evening staff to be exceptional. I love seeing Jeffrey and Carla although the others are helpful as well. Would stay here again and again! :-)
I pulled up this motel online through a search on the Best Western website and checked in for a three-night stay. This place was VERY clean, and I saw maintenance people cleaning up and making things right whenever I walked out of the room. They maintain this place 24X7, The attached Denny's made breakfast a breeze, and the staff there was super. I would recommend this place to anyone.
The place was amazing it's clean inside and out the trees make it feel like you're away from California big windows the staff is amazing made me feel home away from home I love this place they also have a business lLounge
I did not get one wink of sleep at this hotel. They are located on a busy street, but this seems like a renovated motel. The room doors are open to the outside. All we heard all night were cars and motorcycles zipping down Sepulveda. At about 4AM, someone either had their TV on full blast or their car radio. I asked if there was any breakfast service, and was told there was no food at the hotel. He neglected to tell me there is a Denny's next door.
If you can tolerate rap music being blasted at you at 1:30 a.m. while trying to go to sleep and having to tolerate the stench of pot wafting into your room at the same time, this is the perfect place for you to stay at when next you come to Los Angeles.
Not sure about all the buzz...Terrible experience here. I used to stay at other Best Western and this one is the worst. Shower broke, only have water in the tube, the handle switch to head shower was broken, so no shower and we could not switch to other room because "they were either not ready nor occupied" The, the pillows are too small, AC does not work, Extremely stressful
Every one is always courteous and friendly. Have to say the maids really do their job my rooms are always clean smell good and I love the white towels. Some locations do offer breakfast. They also have promotions
I booked another hotel online and when we got there it was horrid. So we left and thank God we found Best western. So nice !! Very convenient too. Right next-door to a Denny's. I wish the pool was working though and the spa.
When I first walked into the room i was pleasantly surprised by how nice and updated it looked, and in addition nice toiletries (though I encourage moving to dispensers to prevent the plastic waste from small single use containers - I thought that was now the law in CA?). However, beyond the superficial looks and appearance of being update, the room was actually quite problematic. Firstly, it's SUPER NOISY, being right next to the freeway and a busy road, so don't stay there if that will be a problem. The heater was also not really adjustable. No matter what temperature I turned it to, it had two settings, off and full blast heat. The table lamp next to the bed was broken, in that it sometimes electrocuted me when I touched it (not good) and one of the plugs didn't work, which I unfortunately only realized when I woke up to an uncharged phone which was highly problematic the remainder of the day. The desk lamp was also broken and not working. And the toilet stopped working in the evening but eventually started working again. Also, it was a bit concerning, especially during covid times where the hotel purports "we care" and that they do extra cleaning, to see a used coffee filter/grounds still in the coffee machine. This isn't really that big a deal, except that it indicates potentially inadequate cleaning. I do think that fomite transmission is unlikely and thus most of the extra cleaning is hygiene theatre, but if you're going to perform hygiene theatre in your advertisements, best to follow through. Finally, I would urge the hotel to consider adding recycling and as I mentioned before, dispenser bottles for shampoo/conditioner for environmental reasons.
I have stayed at this property many times over the years. Their staff is friendly and efficient. Expect some traffic noise since it is basically sandwiched between busy Sepulveda Blvd. and the 405 freeway. This trip I experienced a shrieking baby at 3am, car alarms repeatedly going off during the night over and over, and a not so clean bathroom. (toilet, floor, shower rod) along with a dirty bath towel/mat. Lots of traffic noise all night. I politely asked for a "quiet room" since I really needed a good night's sleep. It ended up being about 3 or 3 1/2 hours. No breakfast coupon for Denny's as usual...and not even a substitute "grab and go" bag like most all BW properties are doing if they are not serving a real breakfast. (about half and half, I travel a lot) I mentioned all the above and did not even get a room credit or an offer of extra reward points. Really disappointing.
Very nice accommodation. The staff at the desk were very courteous and helpful. For example, I asked if there was a microwave oven for use by the guests and they brought one to the room within 15 minutes. The grounds were very well maintained and the room was very clean and it appeared to be remodeled recently. Everyone was COVID conscious and it was plain to see that they were doing all that was necessary to keep the guests safe. The location worked well with a Denny's Restaurant on the grounds, two convenient stores across the street and a Target department store just a block away. I would definitely stay here again if the need arises.
the room was quite clean and nice but.........no breakfast....like advertised, no hot tub...like advertised, pool closed 4 hours earlier then advertised and you had to sign up for it even though there was nobody, i mean nobody in the pool area at all, ice machine broke, gym not open...like advertised. if you're gonna charge more then choice hotels, motel 6 and similar, you should live up to your advertisement. they did not!!! i understand about the whole vid 1 nine thing but i've been to plenty of other hotels that did not shut down all there amenities and still charge the same as if everything was open. they were just smart about it. this place was not. obviously mis-managed.
I was pleasantly surprised on how well the rooms were kept neat and clean. All provided services worked great. I will definitely book again. All amenities were modern and the WIfi was strong. Location is central to the San Fernando Valley including Universal City just a few mile away. Easy on and off the 405.
I drive for work all over Southern California, and I stay at this location often. I love the easy access to the 405 & 101 freeways. I love that Target is just down the street as well! I sometimes get in late at night from work, and I love the fact Denny's is feet from this hotel! The last time I stayed here the front desk manager Triston hooked me up with a nice corner room, and made making pool reservations for my stay worry free! Thank you staff of Best Western Plus Carriage Inn SFV for making me feel at home!
I had a wonderful visit here this past weekend. We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to Sepulveda Basin Recreation park where I had an early archery event. Ended up turning it into a staycation to get away from the house after being home for the last several months. Rooms were clean, price was right and the staff was super friendly. Apu was extremely helpful in getting us checked in early and sharing details about restaurants in the surrounding area. Due to COVID you need a reservation for the pool and we were able to get a reservation easily. All in all we had a great time and would absolutely stay here again.
This is a great location and for the cost was better than I expected. Staff was wonderful. I will definitely keep this hotel in mind next time I am driving to San Fernando Valley. We felt safe because the staff was wearing all PPE during our stay.
Carpets in the hallways had horrible stains. I had to be moved twice to a different room due to excessive cigarette and marijuana smells that was unacceptable. I have NEVER experienced a Best Western Brand hotel on this level. I was fooled buy the photos of this hotel and should have read the customers reviews, big mistake and the front office wouldn't even except my $25 dollar Best Western gift certificate. They indicated I had already received a deal through my online Best Western account and they couldn't combine my reward certificate. I told them I've never heard of this and then they said because I already prepared for the room online through my Best Western account that it was to late to add the $25-dollar certificate. Once again I have NEVER had that told to me because in your Best Western account there is nowhere to add the certificate that's why they add it once you get to the hotel. Customer service needs to improve. So I just called corporate.
I stay here often for business and never have issues acquiring a room. The rooms are newer and well decorated, they are also central to the areas business district. I look forward to staying there again and seeing the new changes.
Checked in & unknowingly did not receive any room cleaning, change of towels, etc. Also, was not advised of tree trimming on property starting at 8am each morning with the crew arriving in the parking lot, loud and abnoxious chatter from 7am until they started work. All around, dissatisfied with this stay!!!
On March 14, 2020 I stayed at this motel. I was nervous when I pulled up to the hotel because there were some rough looking people hanging around the Denny's which is attached to the hotel. It's right off the freeway and the area is not so nice. My fear that this place was kind of scary was only confirmed when upon returning to my room that evening about 9:45 PM, there was something very disturbing going on in the room next to mine. There was a strong chemical odor coming from the room and a sound like a blow dryer or some other item with a small motor was blaring. As I walked past the room to get into mine, I noticed the door was ajar but the curtain from the window was pulled over it and a chair with a blanket was pushed up against the part of the door which made nothing in the room visible. I called management immediately because my room smelled and the sound was loud. They came by, the people in the room said they would close the door but when questioned about the smell and when the management asked to enter, the occupants refused entry. Clearly something untoward, possibly illegal and dangerous was happening in that room. Yet instead of calling the police to keep the rest of the hotel safe, they moved my room and let the people stay until the next morning. I was flabberghasted. This was not only horrific management, it also put the lives of all the people staying in that hotel, including mine, at risk. I don't know whether this property has gone down hill since others have stayed here, or if this is just to be expected at this place but I will never stay at a Best Western property again. Clearly someone got the memo that management doesn't care if you cook meth and clean your clothes there or whatever they were doing. BAD NEWS.
my friends had doubts but I told them they will love it. They did enjoy their stay and promised to use best western carriage in again. The employees were awesome and had good sense of humor. Actually customer service and the rooms were great
It's a prefect place for a stay! The staff is very professional. I especially enjoyed my check in with Michael. Awesome character to meet. The room was very nice. We stayed in a double queen. More than enough room for one adult and three kids.
Had a great time most of all enjoy the jacuzzi. I will definitely be back again. Always clean always friendly. My kids always have a good time when we stay there also. We will definitely be staying there more often
The Denny's on site is pretty good. I felt safe here and didn't worry about the car or any crime issues. Target within walking distance. Counter help was very friendly. I'll definitely go there again next time In in the area.
The Best Western Plus Carriage Inn is a hidden gem in the Sherman Oaks, CA area. I always feel comfortable, safe, and in good hands there--and the price is often great, considering this hotel is located close to literally everything in the LA area that's north of the center of LA.
We just finished a week long road trip on Route 66. We were going to stop in another hotel but the woman was rude and the prices were outrageous. So we stopped at the Carriage Inn hotel, hoping there would be a pet friendly room available. The staff was ridiculously nice and booked us a great room on the first floor. Prices were reasonable, rooms were clean and comfortable. They do not offer the typical continental breakfast because there is a Dennys right next door. I'd definitely stay here again.
The rooms have been renovated with new bathrooms and furnishings and are quite nice and clean for the price. However bring your earplugs because this is really a motel, not a hotel and the doors open to the parking spaces and are pretty noisy! I've stayed here several times and all the rooms are noisy. You can clearly hear traffic on the street - Sepulveda blvd and freeway and hear people talking and walking outside and in adjacent rooms. It's like the front door and walls are a thin curtain the way the noise comes through. I suggest they install seals around the doors and windows to cut down the noise. If you are a light sleeper, look elsewhere ..... really, trust me.
The property seemed to have very seedy tenants. I left an item in my room by accident, returned to get it and was told there was a police investigation and they couldnt retrieve it but would take my number and call me when the investigation was over. They asked if the item was expensive, which I responded yes, they assured me the room had not yet been cleaned (after calling housekeeping) and that once the police left I would be able to come get it. I never heard back. Called the next day and asked them to check for it, mysteriously housekeeping had “thrown it away.” Additionally, no one wanted to mention why there were 10-15 cops surrounding two women in front of my door when I came back to check for my item. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE.
the rooms were nice and clean, the staff in the lobby is fantastic and helpful. However, parking is an issue here, I would suggest getting there early and ubering everywhere else that you want to go. if you have a large truck or van good luck finding a place to fit your rig in.
Stayed 1 night on the way to a trip. Not much good to say. Road noise from 405 is noticeable in all the rooms... we got to visit a few(more on that below). Parking is crazy tight.... not just the spaces but even the driving areas. People in the economy cars are having trouble making corners. TONs of homeless everywhere in the area. A homeless guy was camped out in the indoor stairwell of our wing, and the staff said they called someone but couldn't really do anything. We checked in a 6 pm, and they gave us keys to the room. When we entered, it was already occupied by someone else!! Thankfully they weren't there at the time, but all their stuff was. The front desk couldn't figure it out, but gave us another room. That room had a stopped toilet. The soda machines didn't work, and I've never been at a place where more people were coming and going at 3 am on a weeknight which was noisy and seemed sketchy. Also, Positives: the rooms were clean and pretty nice. The front desk staff were very nice, but clearly not terribly organized. The area and grounds look nice for the price point.
Nice Hotel. Beds are comfortable. Easy access to the 405 free way. resturaunts and gas stations near by. Employee staff were friendly and helpful to make check in and out very easy. Lots of spacious parking slots.
Very pleased with overall appearance upon arrival of hotel Lobby was very nice. Impressed with how the man was dressed and his professionalism upon check-in Rooms were above average; water pressure was great in shower. Towels were soft. Bed was just great; not too hard or soft Type of hotel where the rooms had outside entrance which liked as could park right outside of room to unload. Enjoyed our two day stay. Only drawback was no breakfast offered. There was a Denny's Restaurant right by hotel; did eat there and was good too!
Every time I stay here it gets nicer.. I know you expect a property to keep up every thing but they never stop... My go to place in the Los Angeles area.. Every one is pleasant and they seem to only care about my comfort.....
We arrived with in the middle of the night with several problems, among them lost luggage. We needed help with several things during our stay, none of them specific to the hotel. The Assistant Manager and front desk staff went out of their way to help us with everything. It is this friendly and caring service that brings us back year after year.
Too loud. Don't stay here. The parking lot is always full from the nearby Denny's and service is slow. Always a lot of traffic noise plus the clientele is unsavory; loud cursing into the night and police had to be called to deal with some junkies staying there.
Great location-easy drive to all the sights. Target was a block away which was helpful. Updated & clean rooms, nice shower. Staff was friendly. Located on busy street, some traffic noise but quieted by bedtime. Stayed 6 nights and not having to pay to park was a plus. Room service from Denny's was a nice perk but no microwaves so couldn't heat up leftovers. Very pleased with our choice.
easy access on and off freeway, large room with good lighting and tabletop space, large bathroom with enclosed sink and separate vanity area with another sink, plenty of free parking, restaurant next door (Denny's)
Our family spent one night at the property. We were charged $25 for our service dog which was not expected. Also a guest was smoking marijuana right outside of our room. I understand marijuana is legal now but would expect the hotel to designate smoking areas do as not to disturb the majority of guests. Anything you read about the parking...Believe. It is not ample and due to the fear of losing our spot, we did not leave after 6:00 P.M.
Our softball team stayed for a few days while we were playing in a tournament for our daughter's softball tournament. Our stay was good and the rooms were ok. The rooms were on the small side and the place wasn't in the best area but wasn't bad for the money.
Depending on what you need, this can be a good location. The staff was nice, there is a Dennys onsite, which is handy. But the towels are not soft and fluffy. They have a basket weave on the ends which make it not feel soft or absorbent. The blankets are rough and really thin. The shampoo and conditioner are the smallest I have ever seen. it is almost impossible to get anything out of them, certainly not enough for two people. The parking spaces are too small to be able to get out of the side doors. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner works. It can be noisy in most of the rooms, (take a white noise maker) because the road in front and the freeway behind it and it's not very soundproof. There appears to be no elevator in the two floor area by the office and pool. (There is a separate tower beside it.)
Witnessed alot of what appeared to be hooker activity . Non smoking hotel yet pot filled the air. No breakfast they refer you to denny's next door. Room was ok except housekeeping walk in without knocking or announcing themselves. Someone knocked on our door at 330 a.m..
First, we walked into the lobby which is beautifully appointed and offers free coffee and water. The staff was absolutely brilliant. They were extremely welcoming, expedient, And full of smiles. When my friend and I entered our sweet new were pleasantly surprised with a huge bedroom with a king bed and a full on suite bathroom when we entered the next room which has a queen size pull out sofa the room was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were meticulously clean and well suited. The pool and spa area is gorgeous and there's lots of good vending, plus a Denny's restaurant. We actually met the general manager, Eric was an absolute delight. In addition when we ate at Denny's we also met George the manager of the Denny's who also was extremely lovely and chatted with us while we were there. We went for just a couple of girls day but if you were a business traveler you would enjoy this hotel just as much or a family with children as well. Couples definitely check out the marquee suite!
The location was not the best - next to a busy street (but you could have guessed that by the maps and pictures). The standards in the room were good: clean room, not too small, nice bathroom. Felt like the walls were really thin though. It bothered me that we were feeling unsafe. Drug dealers in the parking lot and one night heard loud screaming of a woman and a man in the room next to ours. First hard knocking on the door, then loud screaming and loud bang, then the woman screaming for help... We did not know what to do, since we were scared that if the loud (and i suppose aggressive) person heard us react, we would get harmed. Also, we thought that the security would have seen the argument on the cameras (there was a camera right in front of our room and the people's next to us) and have done something - never did anything. We did not want to interfere because we were scared ourselves. That definitely made my memories of the hotel not the best. I would not stay here again, because of the lack of feeling safe.
I stayed here with my fam and one of the beds was super dirty with hair all over under the top sheets and the tub also had hair. I called the desk and never did he apologized or asked what could he do to make it better so I asked for all clean sheets and blankets for my 2 beds. I worked that day then drove to LA and then to make my 2 beds. I asked if I could talked to a manager and for my surprise he was the manager so rude and and unprofessional. I work for a Best Western Plus “front desk clerk” and let me tell you, I do a lot way better when a guest comes to me with a complaint. I do apologized and right away try to make it better. Not sure how you guys can be part of Best Western. I do have a video if you guys would like to see it.
Stayed here for a business trip, the room was nice, king size bed, small fridge, nice bathroom setup. Check-in was easy and smooth Breakfast was included - limited menu on what you can get Only issue we had were the fires on the other side of the 405 but this is not the hotels fault.
Front desk booked my shuttle to arrive at 4:30pm when it didn't arrive on time I called the shuttle company and they just had no reason why they did not bother to show up, were unapologetic did not care! I begged staff to get the manager to help me . My flight to Australia from the USA was leaving in 3 hours I was travelling alone with my 9 year old, I begged the manager to take me to the airport they have a shuttle right there! My luggage would not fit in an urber , He said he can't insurance won't insure transit past 10km ( what a crock!!) He dropped me and my daughter at a bus with 6 oversized large pieces of luggage . He was obviously too lazy to drive to LAX!! I'm pregnant in my first trimester the stress of all this was completely unacceptable I will never stay at a best western again. Heartless!!
We travel to Sherman Oaks annually to visit the grand-kids. This Best Western was selected due to the short distance to their home. The bathroom facilities have been upgraded since our first visit two years ago. The installation was not the neatest and the faucet to turn-on the water was extremely difficult to pull to turn on. Generally, most everything else was adequate. However, there is no microwave in the room. The refrigerator is good. Large enough to keep snacks chilled. There are table lamps at each side of the king size bed but no reading/floor lamp at the easy chair. Some of us need more light to read . Complementary copies of the USA Today newspaper were provided Monday thru Friday. Otherwise there were no other papers available, even on week-ends. There is a Denny's restaurant as part of the property; food and service there was good and AARP members can have a 15 % discount on their order. But you have to ask for it.. Otherwise there are no restaurants close by.
Great place for the price I enjoyed my stay... The front desk is helpful definitely recommend this place... restaurants and shopping within walking distance... rooms were clean beds are comfortable what more could you ask for...
Everything that this hotel provided was excellent. The cleanliness and housekeeping were excellent. The location was wonderful, close to the 405 freeway but that did make it a little noisy. We were happy with our stay but felt the value was not as good as similar properties. At this price point, some of a microwave, a complimentary breakfast, a hot tub and a bathroom fan should have been expected.
The rooms are very clean and look great. The shower heads are high enough so that a tall person doesn't have to bend in half to take a shower. Parking is great if you get there early. Check in/out was very easy.
We stayed here for our son's engagement party, because it was close to his house. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time. There is a Denny's in the same parking lot, but no breakfast service at the hotel. I would stay here again.
I booked this hotel on Hotels.com. I'm taking a class at this hotel, and will have to return to this place on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for the rest of the class. They're running a special right now, where if you stay 2 nights, your 3rd night is free. There even was a notice of this at the front desk. When I asked for my 3rd night free, I was told NO - you have to book directly with BW and sign up for BW rewards. There was no excellent or even OK customer service! I had requested a handicapped room, as I had my hip replaced a couple of months ago and I need a high toilet in my room. Throughout my visit from Oct. 2 - 6, 2019; there was a distinctive smell of marijuana near my room (102). I don't know if it was coming from people smoking above me, or from the workout center in room 101. The faucets for the shower in my room were confusing and I could never get a warm water temperature for showering (even the maid didn't know how to work it). I found german cockroaches and earwigs in my bathroom whenever I entered it - which was often, as the meeting room for my class was just two doors down. I suggest to others who might be thinking of booking this hotel to bring your own blanket. When I turned the heat on one night, the smoke and smell that came out of the heating unit was too much to really get a good nights rest. No matter where you are in the hotel, there is a lot of traffic noise!!!! I cannot stress this enough. You are right between the I-405 (behind the hotel) and Sepulveda Blvd. (in front of the hotel). One of my nights there between the sirens from police and fire and the drag racing that appeared to be happening on the street left me tired and worn out the next day in class. (We heard it in the meeting room/classroom) every day - even when the door was closed. One night there was an AA meeting or a Scientology meeting in the meeting room after our class was finished at 6:30 p.m. This meeting lasted until 10 pm, and some of the attendees of that meeting brought their small children who were running up and down near my room riding a big wheel and making noise. On my last night there (Saturday, Oct. 5th) there was a car in the handicapped space I had been using. The car did not have a handicapped license or placard and when I brought it to the attention of the man at the front desk, he wouldn't call to have the car towed or help me in any way at all. Save yourself the hassle - as you won't get much rest at this Best Western.
I met my parents for the night in LA, and this hotel was absolutely perfect for us. It offered a suite with a pull-out couch so that 3 of us could stay in one room, with 2 separate areas for sleeping. It's very convenient, only about 20 minutes from the airport, and 10-15 minutes to the cute beach town area of Manhattan Beach. There's a cute wine shop half-mile away, as well, which offers tastings, food, and a full shop of great wines. (Sharma) One thing we really appreciated was the blanket for the pull out bed was in a sanitary bag to show that it was cleaned between uses. The remote was also in a bag to show it had been cleaned. That was something I hadn't seen before and really appreciated. The bed was comfortable for being a pull-out. The road noise was not noticeable in the room. Parking is free and in an underground garage, which I appreciated. The breakfast buffet is quite extensive. I was particularly impressed with the fruit salad, which included an array of fruit, including dragon fruit, mango, pineapple, melon and oranges. I like to refill my water bottle instead of using single-use plastic, and they offer a water refill machine in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again when I fly into LA for the night.
We have stayed here before and we enjoyed our visit. This time we noticed that the carpet was very worn and spotted, and the furniture was also very worn and tired looking. We do like the fact that Denny's is next door, but the price of the room was way too high for the condition of the room. We did have a quiet room (115) that was in a corner and had a little patio in front of the door.
I would recommend this hotel very clean and they made it so easy to enjoy my stay. We were able to purchase my family's tickets for Universal Studios and not need to stand in line at the ticket booth making our day that much more enjoyable
Good location, staff was very friendly cleaning crew was also very friendly. The Denny's restaurant next door is a good place to eat. If you go in there ask for a gentleman named Jason great. Great pool.
We stayed here at the end of our rte 66 road trip . The motel is getting a little old but was clean and comfortable. There is no breakfast or restaurant options but a Dennys next door which has great amercan food 24 hrs. Ask for Manny , the waiter, a real special guy . The pool was small but with a deep end , the kids loved diving in . A cheap launderette onsite was really useful. The carpark as I've read previously on reviews was busy but we never had an issue parking our Chevy Suburban . Overall I gave it 4 stars, would have been 4 but for a local stealing ice at night and a guest ( legally in California) smoking pot on the landing , which wouldn't have been an issue but it was wafting under our door.
First, this a great value. It is Los Angeles so traffic is unpleasant. For the San Fernando Valley, this is a great gem. The room was a Two bed Queen. It is an older motel. But, outstanding. The front desk at check in was efficient and personalized. Weekends are crowded. There is limited parking too many guests so few spaces. I want compliment the Saturday night manager. We come back very late. With a quick drive around, I could not find a space. I approached the office to seek an answer. As soon as I asked. The night manager volunteered to give me his space in front of the office. No resignation in his tone. He just did it. I will stay again due to the staff first and location second.
We stayed here in Sept 2019. Slept like a baby. Very quiet. Good service. Basic but nice rooms. Lovely pool. Workout room. About 12 min Uber to Universal studios and 20 min to Hollywood sign. They also are not rushing you out in the morning. Only thing is the neighborhood, its a little sketchy (not dangerous, just with substance abusers here and there)...not close restaurants, just Denny's which is a local hangout. There are only two close gas stations, so if you want bread or sandwich stuff you will have to find a grocery store pretty far away first. I'd come back and most likely will!
Updated modern rooms and surprisingly quiet. This Best Western has everything you could want from the pool/hot tub to an on-site Dennys. The front desk staff were all so fabulous. Professional, genuinely friendly, helpful and able to multi task with ease. Very knowledgeable too. Great customer service!
Clean large room and very friendly and helpful staff. Pool area very pretty and the water is lovely and warm. 2nd visit here and won't be our last. Close to the highway and good position for getting around. Dennys next door as the hotel don't provide breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit.
This Motel is located just of the freeway. The rooms are clean and very nice. The entire structure is modern and well maintained. In the structure there is a nice an clean pool and a Denny's restaurant that is very convenient if you travel and need to stop. Very recommended for families with kids
I was very pleased with the appearance of the motel when we arrived. The room was very clean, the staff was very nice and it was located in a good neighborhood. I also appreciated the free parking on site. We will stay there again for sure.
I stay in the BW quite a bit. I was not impressed with this one. They don't have the free breakfast you have to go next door to Denny's. The pool is small and there were never any towels available. The rooms have paper thin walls we could hear every thing from the next room. Also every car and truck that went by.
Family friendly with a good price. Rooms clean. Wifi worked good. Easy to get off and on Sepulveda to access LA attractions. We never used pool but others seemed happy with it, Room service is actually delivery from the Dennys next door and was good. This hotel was a good, safe home base for myself and daughters to explore LA. Would stay again.
The Carriage Inn is remarkable in its selection of staff. When you are greeted by ROBERT AND APU , you feel like you're part of a family. A new staff member JAMES offers the same kind of feeling. In short, staff is outstanding. Accommodations are tasteful and comfortable. Rooms are well kept and always clean. What's more, there is a sense of feeling safe on the grounds of the motel. On top of everything, the location is superb: easy access to West Los Angeles and the beaches and a short trip to Hollywood and its offerings. Just a comfortable place to stay.
We had no problem with the Best Western. When we arrived there was a problem with our reservation but Triston in reception got everything taken care of. Our experience was great and the room was clean. Will definitely stay again.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend while attending a wedding close by. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable. The room service from Denny's was a definite plus after coming back from the wedding! Highly recommend Best Western.
Check in was efficient. Room spacious and clean. Housekeeping excellent. All amenities provided - pool, fitness centre and free parking. Attached restaurant of Denny's is also available. We ate in it once - lovely staff and varied menu but just not for us. Target shop a few minutes away. This hotel was good for us as we had hired a car and drove to all our main tourist points. 20 mins drive to Mann's Chinese Theatre Hollywood and approx 30 mins to Santa Monica. Very easy to get onto 405 and 101. Excellent shops, bars and restaurants in Van Nuys and Ventura - 5/10 min drive from this hotel. This hotel was perfect for us and in particular the staff in reception were excellent. Think it is the best way to see LA as hotels in Santa Monica for example are very expensive!
We were here for 2 nights and had a great stay. My wife was unfortunatly sick, but the staff helped us very good. Very kind en helping people that went out of their way to help us. I reccomend this hotel.
The hotel was clean, the rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. It was a short distance drive from popular attractions. The pool are was nice and clean. The hot tub area was kept clean, the one downside was there were no towels later in the day. Good recommend to friends and family. They are pet friendly too.
This hotel is no quiet oasis, but it surly serves its purpose. The Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The traffic noise is a little much at times, but what can you expect being in the middle of the city and right next to a major freeway. There is also a large fire department nearby and they do what firetrucks do. There is a Denny's restaurant in the parking lot, the food there is ok at best and the staff is not horrible and they are not great. There is a gas station right across the street. The Hotel staff have always been professional and helpful. Overall this is a good place to stay, just don't expect the normal BW Plus from this one.
We stayed at this Motel while visiting Universal Studios, Hollywood, Santa Monica Beach and Beverly Hills. We got a room behind the pool on the ground floor, and we were very satisfied with that. No disturbing noises from the traffic. The bed was comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower and everything seemed clean. The aircondition worked well. Although we felt the room was clean, we noticed a little unpleasant smell in the room when we used the aircondition.
The hotel is located between 2 large roads and some of the rooms are probably affected by the traffic noice. We were lucky and got a room that was located in an area away from the traffic. The room was great, with a comfortable bed and AC that was not blowing directly towards you when sleeping. Updated bathroom-area with 2 sinks. Furniture seemed to be quite new and everything were kept clean and spotless. A Dennis diner located in the same property and Target 10 mins walk from the hotel.
We needed a value hotel within close proximity of Burbank Airport. this motel served it's purpose. It was clean and comfortable and around $50 cheaper than hotels in LA and hotels closer to the airport. The front desk service was stellar..the rooms were clean and smelled nice. If you have trouble with stairs...this is a motel, so there is no elevator..that would be my only caution about this place. Overall, it was a great option for our family.
This is our second time staying here this time four nights we highly recommend this location for its central location to LA. Clean rooms and friendly staff. We had to use the washer machines and dryers for our laundry and the machines are well kept
My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights. We booked a King bed room last minute the night before arriving and the rate wasn't bad at all. We arrived way before the check in time of 3pm (I didn't call ahead to say we'd be arriving early). The front desk told us to give them 90 mins to prepare a room (my husband and I aren't picky). Conveniently, we ate breakfast at the Denny's located right on the property. I don't think we actually waited the full 90 mins, as our room was made ready fairly quickly. The room was clean upon arrival. Housekeeping was good. The traffic was somewhat loud but that's expected because of Hwy. 405 and Sepulveda surrounding the motel. My husband and I were able to walk across the street to the Target, and Uber drivers easily located my husband and I for pick up at the motel. Overall, we had a great stay and we would stay there again.
Surprised by how nice this hotel was and how accommodating the staff were. Parking lot was full when we arrived at 11pm but staff happy to show up were to park and were the room was. Clean, quiet and cozy room. Vending machines and laundry. Didn't get time to use pool or any of those things. Was only there for a short nights sleep. Enjoyed breakfast at Denny's. Would recommend and would stay again on my next road trip.
We had a great stay at this best western plus carriage inn hotel. The staff was all very helpful and answered any questions that we had. The neighborhood felt safe. Even though the hotel was close to the interstate we did not hear the traffic.
What a trip to see this site has been remodeled with the traveler in mind. Favorite is the ottoman. I was staying regularly at another hotel and they remodeled and eliminated their ottoman and bathtub. Was very pleased you had kept both in your remodel. The separate bathroom sinks is wonderful. I had never seen that before. Nice large size mirror while some hotels have you rely on the bathroom mirror only in many cases. These may seem like small things to be pleased about, but they seem to be disappearing from many remodels.
It was a good stay, it was nice having a Denny's right next door. Bed was very comfortable, only issue was the doors had a lot of open spots, so outside noise and cold air would come in. All in all a good place to stay.
I loved the grounds, beautiful! I had read reviews about noise being an issue but I couldn't hear anything in my room, not a problem. The room was clean, amenities were convenient. The staff was helpful when I had questions.
The location is near highway and busy street. I was waken up by street noises in the morning which was the first time experience for me when staying in a hotel paying close to $200. Parking slots are not enough for both hotel guests and Denny's restaurant patrons on site
The sound insulation in hotels is a problem altogether too often. In the case of this motel it was the entry door and window which allowed traffic noise from the street - which is at least 100 feet away as we had a room at the back of the parking lot - to be quite obnoxious and disturbing of sleep. Initially I was convinced the window must be open but it wasn't. The room itself; a king bed room; was fine, well up to standard for this class of motel. The bathroom was clean an functional. The fridge was slightly noisy but okay and it worked fine otherwise. The TV remote had no means to access any form of program guide and as out-of-towners unaware of the channel line up this was a hassle. Check in was efficient and friendly. The vending and ice machine area is secured so you need a room key to get ice. It would have been nice to know that before I trekked over with an ice bucket. Parking was no problem although we seemed to have picked a night when a preponderance of customers had large pick up trucks including a crane truck parked right in front of our room (which was obtrusively loud when the driver started it up and left it idling for a long time early in the morning but that gets us back to sound insulation issues primarily). I wouldn't want to stay here again as we didn't sleep well due to the noise.
This hotel is pet friendly. We have a dog, but our room smelled very strong of pet urine. The window did open, but the noise from the freeway and safety reasons kept us from leaving it open at night. I did spray some lavender oil spray around the room to cut mask the smell for sleeping. There is not enough parking for the hotel, so we had to park quite a distance from outperform room. The 2 dogs next door barked quite a bit, but quieted down for sleeping. Their owner stood outside the room smoking, although it is a non-smoking area. The hotel manager (owner?) did not ask how our stay was when I che led out, otherwise I would have let him know my thoughts.
My room must have been a hundred feet from the freeway - awful noise. Didn't sleep well all night. Traffic noise, motorcycles, sirens - you hear it all! I pre-booked for 2 nights - left after the 1st and got a refund. No breakfast - very high rate for this not be included. The room nice enough but that's about it. Even though I pre-booked, due to our later arrival in the evening, we received a room in the back right near the freeway. I can only assume that walk-ups that arrived before we did got better rooms. I put a Do Not Disturb sign on our door. In the morning while we were still in the room, Housekeeping knocked on the door at 10:30 am, I yelled at "we're still in here", they knocked again, I responded a 2nd time, and then they just opened the door and walked right in. I don't think that's ever happened to me. They should not be ignoring the signs on the doors.
Great attention to the details; large shower head, lots of mirrors, good water pressure, nicely decorated, good lighting, black out curtains, very clean, good pillows, cold refrigerator, friendly staff!
It's a nice hotel. Nice pool area. Nice snack area. A Denny's restaurant at the hotel. Which also serves cocktails. The rooms are fairly large. Comfortable beds. The only downside is the noise. The hotel is directly off the 405 freeway, and on a major street Sepulveda. Sirens , honking, and lots of traffic noise day and night. Late in the evening finding a parking spot can be difficult, if not improved.
Front desk staff Apu stole a $50 deposit. Manager stuck up for him. Manager made up reasons to kick me out after I started using up the free nights I've earned. It's noisy as crap there. They kick me out for made up reasons and were supported by corporate in doing so. Don't let them get u fellow business travelers!!
I expected more from a Best Western Plus. It is similar or less than a regular Best Western without breakfast. Bed was comfortable however pillows are tiny. The room as clean. Not a great location, hard to get into parking lot in a noisy location.
Was pleasantly surprised with the hotel room after seeing the outside. Besides a couple minor decor/paint touch-ups needed the room was great. Fridge, coffee maker, safe included. No breakfast included but Dennys is right next door. GPS tells you to take a left off I-5 but it's a right..
I had never stayed at a Best Western before we have been pleasantly surprised on all fronts: *Our room was tastefully renovated with high-end fittings, *the room was extremely clean and fitted out with fresh new linen and towels, *the amenties in the room were great quality *the beds were really comfortable and finally we found a hotel with firm and perfect pillows rather than the flat pancakes we've been experiencing *the reception staff were friendly and efficient. We are having a great stay.
Location good, staff friendly & helpful, we had no problem w/ parking but lot did fill up Sat nite. Room was clean, comfortable. Bathroom looked newly remodeled. Area felt safe; some good restaurants in the area on Ventura. Some road noise but we had no trouble sleeping.
We were very pleased and would definitely stay here again. Room was clean and exactly as pictured. We were promptly given more towels when we asked. Landscaping is beautiful. We ate breakfast at Denny's each morning and had an outstanding waiter. Our only slight complaint would be that parking can be challenging if you get back to your room too late. That being said, we always found a parking spot.
Family getaway was a great experience. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Our rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The kids loved how comfortable the beds were and had a good nights rest. Jeffery was very helpful in helping us get to our location and what routes to take. I would definitely go back for a weekend getaway!
Friendly staff and speedy service. They put the customer first. The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking. There's a restaurant right next door within walking distance; very convenient. Would stay here again.
This is my go-to location in the LA area when I need lodging.I've born a client there for many years, and it seems they keep getting better. I have recommended this hotel to many of my family and friends who also have been pleased with their accommodations
Talk about location location location! I enjoyed staying at the Sherman Oaks BW Plus because of the, conveniences to shopping, restaurants, and the highways; which made it a breeze to get around. They were accommodating to my dog, by having small plots of grass and trees around the entire property. My room was also very clean and spacious. If you're looking for a quiet, secluded hotel getaway, this is not the place, as it is on the very loud and busy Sepulveda Blvd... they also have ear plugs in your room.
Stayed one night here for a local job at the Skirball Center. The hotel is convenient to Skirball, Getty and many other LA attractions. Staff were friendly and efficient, the room was clean and recently updated. I would definitely stay here again for any LA business or leisure stay.
I have stayed here many times over the years; I was extremely impressed with how all of the renovations turned out. The rooms are comfortable and staff are always friendly. The location is perfect for accessing the rest of the San Fernando Valley as well as Downtown Los Angeles. Be advised there is not a ton of parking so if there are multiple vehicles it can be a little tight if the hotel is busy. But that should not be a deterrent!
I was looking for a room last minute I happened to see a price online. I called an Tim was able to help me with getting situated with a room at your location. I was very happy am pleased with Tim's customers service an I will definitely be back!
Staff was very helpful nice and willing to help without a question we stay in a lot of hotels for work and play this location has been the best as far as staff goes hands down . Smiles beautiful and helpful is the best way to put it . Check inn was perfect we got there and it was a nice and refreshing check in with good people made our trip easier to handle
This is a very nice place to stay near Hollywood. The rooms are spacious and clean. The outdoor pool is very warm, even in February, with a nice hot tub. Best of all, there is safe free parking! The staff was friendly and helpful.
Perfectly reasonable hotel. No free breakfast but an adjacent Denny's. The two nights we were there one of the two washing machines was out of order, and the day I tried to dry laundry both dryers were on the fritz...
I was staying here between the dates of 2/15/19 and 2/17/19. The staff and especially the front desk managers were more than nice. The service was amenable and Rachelle even replaced my free breakfast voucher when I happened to misplace my first one! Definitely staying here again. Thanks guys!
As a Diamond level member I stay in a lot of Best Westerns. I was very impressed with the professional service and attire (coat & tie) of the staff. I also liked the classy bathroom mirrors with the indirect lighting. My only concern was the parking. With sharing a lot with a 24-hour Denny's restaurant next door parking was always tight and I sometimes had to park a long ways from my room.
Stayed for 3 nights with young family. Hotel is well-located and clean and provided exactly what we were looking for. Staff were helpful and courteous at all time. However a couple of points: 1: there was a strong smell of weed in the lift and corridors, which seeped into our room. It may be legal in CA but wasn't very pleasant with 3 kids under 7. If people are going to smoke then it should be restricted to their rooms or some sort of separate area on the premises 2: the heaters in the room emitted cold air when they were off (surely if they are off they are off?). When we turned them on, the rooms warmed up but the heaters were extremely noisy, which did make it hard to sleep at times.
Nice room, reasonably priced for the area. Convenient location. Room was very clean and well appointed. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom sparkled. Staff were friendly and efficient during checking in and out. Plenty of parking. I would consider staying there again.
I stay at Carriage Inn each time I come in to the Valley. Front desk people are friendly and anxious to accommodate in any way they can. The rooms are attractive and housekeeping is excellent. There have been many upgrades and improvements which make the stay even better. A friend recommended the hotel and I have been coming ever since. It is a good value for the money.
A little noisy as it is close to the freeway and Dennys is in the parking lot, but room is comfortable and clean, the staff is nice and the price pretty decent. The bed was nice and checkout was quick and easy
My son was having surgery and this was the closest hotelto the surgical center. It was a esy check in and check out. I was able to get some sleep and I felt very comfortable. I brought my son back to thehotel after surgery. It was close to get food take out and close to everything I needed.
We stayed one night and chose this hotel on their dog-friendly policy (2 dogs up to 100 pounds each allowed at a rate of $20/night). As mentioned in other reviews, the lodging is located tight up against the 405 freeway, bookended by busy Sepulveda Blvd. out front, making the noise level high. And we were in a room not facing the freeway. The room was clean and comfortable, updated, with a soft bed (our preference), although the water pressure in the shower was basically non-existent; and staff at the front desk were welcoming, helpful and friendly (the clerk gave us great advice for dinner - try Maria's Italian Kitchen, Encino!). The dog-friendliness at this location is not great. No dedicated dog area and few spots for dogs to do their business. In fact, much of the green area, while attractive, is only a thin strip of plants and fake grass lining the parking lots. The Denny's on site was terrific. In a pinch with dogs, we'd stay again, but only at the expense of a good night's sleep.
Nice landscaping, good room upgrades, good service. Convenient, but noisy, location. Rooms do a pretty good job of keeping freeway noise out. Overall, good for quick trip to visit friends or family. Nice coffee machine in lobby.
Stayed here several times. Good quality motel. Would stay again. Pros: - pool is a decent size - plenty of sun for tanning - rooms are newly updated - grounds are kept very clean - staff are great - Dennys on site - laundry for longer stays - couple of hummingbird hang by the pool occasionally Cons: - parking (welcome to LA) - rooms are a little noisy - quality of shampoo and conditioner could be better. (Not a fan of the citrus) - Had our car hit and run in the parking lot. Got to visit the local police detachment for police report.
I love this hotel amazing staff and I just feel like I'm at home I have no complaints. Very helpful staff and when I need to check in early they will work hard to get me in and even a late check out is an option that way I am in no rush.
close to freeway Denny's on property very clean, big rooms pet friendly keurig coffee maker in room frig in room no microwave in room but they will bring one if needed. nice pool ,parking kinda tight but plenty of spaces.
Great place to stay if you are visiting the area. Clean Hotel with great Service. The Denny's attached is convenient, and has some great food. There are pleanty of other shops and activites in the area as well.
This is a really nice hotel and wasn't too expensive for the location. You are just minutes away from Universal Studios and downtown Hollywood (pending traffic). The parking is a little tight but I was able to park our long bed full size diesel Ram pickup in the parking lot There is an on-site Denny's restaurant which is super convenient. And there are two fuel stations right across the street, but neither of them sell diesel fuel.
This property is well situated for people visiting UCLA, downtown, Universal Studios and areas like the Santa Monica Promenade and Pier. The hotel is clean, free parking, nice gym and business center. The staff is helpful and friendly, all around nice balanced property.
Wonderful clean and functional rooms. Friendly and accommodating staff. All the advantages of the big box hotels at half the price. It's the way to go,especially if you have to stay for a longer time. Free coffee and refrigerators in each room
Besides the location that close to Highway and busy street (some noise), the room itself is clean. They always make sure that guests have adequate bathroom necessities (they gave us more clean towels, shampoo, soap). Coffee always provided each day
This hotel was in a great location for us. The staff was great, it was extremely easy to check in, it was a nice room, very clean and comfy. The bathroom was clean and newly remodeled. Unfortunately, I did not notice how loud the traffic was until it woke me up at 5:30 in the morning, it was actually so loud I couldnt go back to sleep. I was only staying the one night so I didnt tell the staff.
We stayed here for 4 nights holidaying from Australia. Nice clean room, comfortable beds and close to attractions without having to stay in heart of LA. Pool and spa were lovely & heated. We used them at the end of our busy days. Denny's is right next door so we ate breakfast there as they didn't offer any breakfast. Overall a pleasant stay.
When we arrived back at the Hotel your parking lot was full with people parked in the middle of the lot, fire lanes and red zones. I contacted the front desk and they had us park in front of the office and promised that our vehicle would be ok. The next morning as we were checking out we noticed that our vehicle was damaged. I informed the front desk and the person on duty was very Condescending even suggesting that our vehicle was already damaged which it wasn't and he Al's in a way was suggesting that we knew it was already damaged and when I suggested that the Hotel was partially to blame because of the parking he started making excuses to include saying that they can allow people to park in red zones and fire zones because it's private property. BS he didn't realize he's talking to a informed person who was on several planning committees when it comes to Codes and ADA. So I'm done with Best Western but because of the loss of property I'm going to be a thorn in your face.
Great place to put people up, great location, always friendly and very helpful, from Robert, Apu and Jeff at the front desk to the wonderful people who amazingly made our rooms look fantastic each day. Thank you all, great job!
I am actually still currently here oj my honeymoon but wanted to remember to review this hotel. Great value for money and a great location to pretty much everything. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The busy road doesn't affect your sleep at all and the pool is great. 15 minutes from universal and walkable to a local target shop. Dennys on site is delicious with friendly staff and a great budget. One of the few hotels that doesn't charge you to park or have hidden resort fees. Parking is plentiful and I would have no issue telling anyone to stay here when they visit LA.
Stayed here with family during a weekend visit. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Bathroom were clean and standards for any hotel . Adjacent to 24 hrs Denny's is perfect for anytime breakfast. Really close to Universal studios and great Location, location!!
We stayed here for two nights so we could see the parts of LA we came for (Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica / Venice beach). The location is absolutely incredible - we could drive to any of the named locations above in 25 minutes no problem at all. It is in a nice safe part of LA and the car park is big and secure. We were upgraded and given free breakfast vouchers for the Dennys restaurant which is on site (also very good service). Our room was immaculate and very spacious / modern - had everything you'd expect including a very nice coffee machine :) No noise, no complaints and no suggestions for improvement which is rare for me. Price for this stay was mind boggling! So cheap (we did a Saturday and Sunday night) and the value for money is just great. First review I've given 5 stars on our 5 week trip around USA. Highly recommend.
Our room was quite noisy. We could hear the street traffic all night. Luckily the AC was just as noisy so it kind of equalized the car noise a little. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and cozy.
Some friends and I had received a callback to come on a game show that filmed about 15 minutes from here. Our call time was pretty early in the morning so we stayed here the night before. The location is convenient to most of Hollywood, Burbank and LA. My family and I stayed here previously when going to Universal Studios, Hollywood.
The rooms were clean and staff was very nice. The hotel is off the interstate and has a busy street in front of it. We didn't get much sleep do to the constant cacophony of noises. We were also disappointed that the hot tub was broke down as that was one of the reasons we picked this hotel. If your looking for an affordable, clean place and can sleep through anything this place is great.
My husband and I stayed here on our first four nights in California. It was a great base for visiting on son and other family members who live in the area and also Universal Studios. The room was clean and comfortable and check in was fast and efficient. The only negative was there isn't a complimentary coffee and bagel offered in the lobby. There is a Denny's right next door but we don't need a big breakfast just a piece of fruit or muffin would have been a great addition to our stay.
To all the 1,2 and 3 star reviews....pffff! You're a bunch of complainers! This hotel is great!!! The locations is awesome and in the middle of everything. We were a 15-20 minute drive to everything! Chinese theatre, the beach, Beverly Hills, Rodeo drive, Universal Studios. The rooms are modern, very clean and has all you need. The hotel staff was great. Check-in was a breeze. They have parking, a nice pool, a business center and a Denny's. These complainers are just being real difficult. I travel a lot and have stayed in plenty of places. Trust me, this place is great, affordable and modern. Highly recommend this place!!
Everything was clean and neat. The staff was professional and very helpful. I like that it was right on the bus line, made transportation easier. The business center had everything I needed to get my work done.
Hotel staff are very professional and efficient. Easy freeway access from hotel and located near local businesses, restaurants and entertainment. Hotel is nicely maintained with lots of great amenities.
5 stars for price and location. Best rates fpr AAA menbers & some other discount options. Have stayed here several times as well as other more & less expensive hotels in LA. This is now my go-to LA hotel. Dennys restaurant on premises, Chinese & Mediterranean restaurants diagonally across the street as well small gas station market. Close to everything in the San Fernando Valley, adjacent to 405, minutes from Ventura Blvd & shopping. Rooms always clean, lots of TV & premium channels, free WiFi, free easy parking, coffee in room and 24/7 in lobby. It is next to 405 FWY but if you note that you are a light sleeper they will put you in a room where you barely hear it or don't hear the FWY at all.
I was staying at this hotel for 4 nights, on the first night I noticed a couple of ants in my bathroom, but it was not a big deal so i killed them. On the second night, I noticed a huge amount of ants just flowing out of the bathtub faucet and it was disgusting. I went to the hotel front desk and spoke to the front desk manager Joel Guerrero. I was paying $179 before tax / night, I demanded a discount on my stay for the first two nights. After I described to him about the ant situation in my hotel bathroom, Joel Guerrero said it was the ants season in LA and it is totally normal to have ants in hotel, there is nothing he could do about it, and I can change hotel if I wanted to but he is not responsible for the ants in bathroom. He offered switching me to another room and 20% discount on the first two nights of the stay. But when I checked out, he refused to provide me discount on the first night, said he only agreed to provide 20% on the second night. He called me a liar and said I have no proof for what he said, it's his words against mine and there is nothing I can do about it. I asked him to pull out the security camera recording of the hotel lobby which would have recorded our initial discussion in the first place, he said the camera only has picture and no voice, it is my imagination that he agreed to provide discount on both days. He yelled at me and went back to his office and slammed the door. I demanded the hotel staff to provide me a complaint number, the hotel staff refused to help me and said they were busy and cannot look up for me. the manager came out of his room and threw his business card at me, told me to complain to whoever I want, and left again. He was disrespectful, unprofessional and rude. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
DO NOT book this Inn on line unless you are sure that it is the Inn's online website. When we were booking this Inn we were on a web site, that offered what at first seemed like a reasonable price, but then when completing the reservation the price jumped by about $50. I called the phone # that was listed and was informed (I think it was booking.com) that the price increase was due to taxes and other charges. I called the Inn directly and got the room rate at the rate that was initially quoted through booking.com. The Inn was next to the freeway, freeway entrance and on a busy street, so be prepared for noise throughout the day and night.
Theres nothing in this hotel i would recommend. 1 - very loud location and it's open patio to street and parking - loud loud loud. The hotel even leaves a noise reduction for your ear, can you believe it? 2- smelly room and bed! 3- bed is as soft as you can imagine 4- i was worried for security as at night there was a guy at the parking using his cell and not even a guest, walking around very weird 5- traffic in the area is bad! Meaning bad! 6- front desk doesn't seem interested in making you happy 7- there's no elevators so if you get 2nd floor with huge bags no one will help you 8- they don't give you a welcoming water, so bring yours as there's nothing at the hotel room. There's an empty frigobar
Horrible customer service. What a Disappointment very bad management crowded parking. No breakfast option rooms are very small loud location the worst stay I've ever had at a best western in 10years never been treated so poorly be aware they will profile u and invade your privacy be aware I would not recommend anyone to stay here worst manger I've ever encountered No microwaves either stay away at all cost.
Rooms refurbished, nice job. Good upgrade and very friendly service. Dog friendly resort is essential. Very nice landscaping, too bad the 405 is next door. Great coffee machine in the lobby. Will be back.
We stayed here because of the loacation, which is great and easy on and off the freeway. Our room (116) was so quiet. Spacious and clean. King sized bed with good mattress. We really liked the fact there was a refrigerator, coffee maker, good TV and such clean carpets. Also like the fact that there were two sinks (one outside the bathroom, which had a sink also) so two people can get ready and don't have to wait. Great shower with nice towels that aren't paper thin. Good place.
Stayed here with family during extended weekend visit. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Toiletries were a cut above standard hotel fare. The adjacent 24-hour Denny's is perfect for those struggling to stay on East Coast time. Quick Uber to Burbank airport.
Our family has been staying here for many years but this year the accomodations have really hit a high note. Very clean and welcoming for a family celebrating the 100th birthday of our matriarch. Thank you!
Easy access from the highway and to the hiway... very clean room and courteous staf... just hoping the laundry area is open 24 hours, coz as a traveller, we usually use the service at night time. Benefit for us if it is open. But other than that, everything went perfect.. thanks
The staff were nice, the room was spacious and the location on a major road and just off an interstate exit ramp was very convenient. However, the room was surprisingly noisy. The first night the fan on the HVAC system would not stay on so we could not create "white noise" to ameliorate the sounds of cars, trucks, motorcycles and of people talking in the parking lot. They were able to fix the HVAC system so the subsequent nights were not too bad. But the rooms could use some sound proofing.
We had been let down at a previous hotel and had to find somewhere to stay for 8 nights - Wahid came to our rescue and was most kind to us...thank you! The hotel was like paradise in comparison to where we were supposed to stay. Staff were very friendly and the spacious room was kept very clean. Pool area was lovely, surrounded by palm trees and gorgeous flowers. Pool was heated. No breakfast but there is a Denny's close by and a Ralph's supermarket less than 10 minutes drive away. Coffee and other drinks are available for free at reception and there is a coffee maker and fridge in the room. Very close to Ventura Blvd, which has great shops, and is just off the freeway (but no noise from the freeway). We cannot recommend this hotel enough and can't wait to return :) Thanks again!
We really liked this property. Nice staff at check in. Clean, modern room. Everything was great. Definitely will stay there again. Wish they had free breakfast, but was told Denny's would deliver for free.
We have stayed on and off at this property for the last 10 years when coming to LA-Always Clean and great service. The recent upgrades to the rooms are very nice and create a modern space. We love Robert and Apu at check-in.
Stayed here for a couple of nights it was ok. Its right next to a Shell gas station and the freeway which was a huge plus. Denny's is on the property so breakfast was easy. They do allow pets the guy next door had a dog barking all night so my wife didn't get much sleep. The check-in office smelled like cigarette smoke both days. I had to use the washer and dryers which charge about 6 dollars (all quarters) a load which is crazy and they supplied me with change which was cool. The bed sheets were very thin. They had nice sinks, tv was ok but cable channels were average. Parking was tight. Overall it was ok some good things some bad.
We needed a place to sleep while visiting family in LA. This was located in a safe area and had free parking. Hotel was of a very good quality. Clean rooms, beds, and large room. We had a King bed and the location was just what we needed for our trip. Heard some City noise, but it got quiet and did not disturb our sleep. The Air conditioner worked very well. There were a few places located walking distance for eating and that was great, so we did not have to drive more than necessary in the LA traffic. (Former LA resident and do not miss traffic). Overall this was a good location and great price. The room also had a nice refrigerator which was handy for us. There is a Denny's next door which is very handy for breakfast. Cheers!
Pros: -Good Location with easy access to freeway -pricing -free parking Cons: -room always warm despite a/c on -a/c blew in my face all night -thread count on sheets must have been lowest imaginable because they were rough -purchased my theme park tickets here because of the perk of getting in an hour before opening but they messed up and it was very time consuming on my part to fix. -parking hard to come by if getting to room late.
The rooms are beautiful and spacious; the location is great for visiting the Getty Museum and other sites. The main problems is a lack of sufficient parking, which is important since there is no off site parking and the morning tea area. There are no microwaves in the room and the tea water is lukewarm. Coffee packets are good. I was disappointed that breakfast wasn't offered since usually the BW plus hotels offer breakfast. Most of the staff were helpful and excellent, but the evening check-in person was not helpful in giving directions. Great hot tub and nice pool.
I had the worst stay ever. Hall a/c broken hallway hotter than outside temp. Hallway had a broken mirror, noise automatic door to enter from the parking lot. Parking was the sh**. Room was on the first floor, one wall next to the boiler/laundry room. The other wall approx 8ft from the buzy street. The room 308 never got comfortable or quite it was either hot from the boiler room or cars, motorcycles, and trucks all night long, a/c always needing to run. When in bed the a/c blew cold air right in your face. We also found a huge bug in the bathroom. Took picture killed it and when we informed the manager no reaction from them no apoligize no nothing. The only thing they did do anything about was they gave us free ear plugs. NEVER NEVER AGAIN WILL I STAY HERE.
Have had previous pleasant experience with Best Western Plus but thought I was taking a chance on this LA area property because of location and price. I am happy to say it was FABULOUS! The staff is exceptional. Friendly, eager to offer help, efficient. The room was updated, large, spotless, and comfortable. Slept like a log! The exterior is very cute, motel style entry; updated and historic at the same time with lush greenery and a nice private pool. The Denny's on the property was very convenient; parking got a little congested later at night, but we could always find a spot and this would not deter me from future stays. I mean, the parking is free...in LA...you can't argue with that! Loved the bathroom with double sinks and privacy shower area. Room was large enough for a rollaway. Neighborhood was clean and safe and right on the freeway, without any traffic noise. This is a smoking deal in LA!!
When I reserved the room, I requested a first floor room away from the road. I got that, but when I checked in, which was fairly early, I also requested a room near the laundry and was given one as far away from the laundry as you could get. The laundry was VERY expensive, $2.00 per machine, per load. One of the washers took my money and wouldn't start, at least they gave me my money back. Then we put two loads in the dryers and when we went back, one was about 90% dry and the other was just as wet as when we put it in, no heat at all. So, it took me pretty much ALL night to get my laundry almost done. Most of the items were still a little wet, but I couldn't afford to keep the dryer going any longer. It is VERY dangerous to get to the laundry. The entry door is in a VERY dark place and I tripped over a vehicle stop trying to get to the door. I could have been hurt VERY badly!!!!!! I wouldn't recommend going to the pool. As I passed by, a woman was yelling at her husband to go get another diaper, that she desperately needed a diaper. Enough said. The room didn't have anywhere near enough furniture and places to put your luggage. The best thing about the room is that it had 2 sinks, one inside and one outside of the bathroom. The bathroom had very nice tiles. The maid left towels for 4 people, but didn't leave any tissues. The showerhead was MISERABLE! It had NO pressure whatsoever. It took forever to rinse off the soap. Thank goodness I didn't need to wash my hair tonight. We had to unplug the ref. because it made a terribly loud noise. The clock in the room was set on the wrong time and we couldn't figure out how to change it, so we just had to turn it toward the wall. I don't know what the deal is with the onsite Denny's. This Denny's location will NOT appear on the Denny's website, so you could order online. They were supposed to have room service, but the menu in the room does not match the menu that Denny's has posted online. No one would answer the phone on the room service line, so we had to walk over there to order. Most of our dinner was inedible. There were slips in the room to get a basic complementary breakfast from Denny's, but only for 2 people, and only if you eat it in the restaurant. One would think that the top rewards members could at least get a free breakfast for everyone in their party. We had 4 people in our party and didn't have time to eat breakfast in the restaurant, as we had a tour to get to, so we had to stop at a McDonalds. I usually get very good food at Denny's, but this one wasn't very good. This is supposed to be a 100% non-smoking property. There are signs everywhere that you are not supposed to even smoke outside in the parking lot. However, both when we went to sleep and when we woke up in the morning there was smoke pouring into our room from under the front door. There was a pile of cigarette butts on the ground in front of the room next to us. There was also a man yelling and making a lot of noise outside of our room before 5 AM. Would I stay here again? I don't know. There aren't very many affordable options in L.A.
Best Western Plus ever, we have stayed at many B.W.P. Over last five plus years. This was best ever ,we all want to go back in August when we are up that way once again. Its a no breakfast ofter as they have a Denny's in same location. Pool and spa services as well as management services great, laundry on site workout room and computer services and if you forget anything like toothpaste, brush or razor they bring it to you room, we needed extra blankets we made call and they were delivered we needed few extra towels as kids got them to wet while showering and we got them right away room was very clean and welcoming. Like to have a bible and maps of shopping centers close by. They did print out maps for our main destinations that really helped wonderful coffee in lobby and hot coco . Wish they gave % off for Denny's and parking was tight but we were able to get space. Wish we had walk in shower. Pool and spa were very welcoming and clean comfortable and that was a great surprise after some we been to of late. Just off the 405 / 17 north .sepulveda boulevard. No microwave oven missed that to heat quick meals snacks . Bring those two back and % off for our meals and this is one place anyone could enjoy while traveling for work or relaxation.
It is clean and comfortable. 24/7 breakfast with the vouchers. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is here. The staff is very accommodating. It was clean and safe and they allow pets and service dogs.
Enjoyed my stay here. Cute nice exterior. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly, helpful and kind. Will stay here again. Good price as well. Area was well lit and was nice to have a restaurant, Denny's, there.
Yesterday I had a reservation here. As I was arriving, I received a call regarding a family emergency that I needed to get back to Texas immediately. Triston Perez was very helpful and very accommodating. He was able to help me more than he will ever know. Triston is definitely one of the top Customer Service guys I have ever met. He is a rare breed in the customer service industry. I will definitely rebook here the next time I am in town, just based off of his customer service. Watch out Best Western, I may try to steal him. ;-).
We had to have our house fumigated and it was a very stressful experience. The Best Western Carriage Inn helped to alleviate some of that stress. They have pet friendly rooms and were so helpful in accommodating our extra needs. It was so nice to have a restaurant right on the premises that is open 24 hrs and provides room service until midnight. The Denny's menu had a large variety and everything I tried was great. The staff in the Denny's and hotel were so friendly and helpful. I will definitely keep this place in mind when we have guest coming into town.
The rooms are always clean and the staff at checking in do it with a smile on their face. Coffee choices in the room are awesome. The rate may be a bit pricey, but it is worth every penny. Having Denny's Restaurant in the same area makes is so much easier. Freeway access to it too,k is a plus.
Very friendly front desk staff. Grant was particularly helpful. Easy check in. Nicely refurbished room and quiet even though it is on a busy boulevard and near the freeway. Parking can be a bit of a problem, primarily because this is a very busy hotel. Breakfast is not provided but there is a Dennys on site. Good stay overall.
My daughter wanted to attend a class in Tarzana so we decided to book a room at the Best Western Plus which is only minutes away from the 101 and 405 freeway connections. The hotel is located right off Sepulveda Avenue and right next to a Denny's restaurant which is very convenient. The hotel has started a renovation and we stayed in one of the newer rooms. Very nice for the $, extremely clean, extremely quiet, and is smoke free! The beds are very comfortable but the pillows were a bit thick for me. The property offers a pool and a separate section for the Jacuzzi. We used the jacuzzi and it's a pretty good sized one. Snack machines & a laundry facility are also available onsite. I thought the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again.
Continuation of family trip to LA thyme parks. For Universal studios we decided to stay here. An older motel, fairly limited and crowded parking lot, with a Dennys on property. Shopping and more food options within a mile or so. Friendly knowledge staff, clean rooms, nice pool and large hot tub. Refrig, but no micro. Close freeway access. Affordable pricing. Two ways to get to Universal studios from there. 15 minutes on city roads (staff's suggestion), or an hour by freeway. ... We took the former, and it was fine. You'll need a car there. The general area was residential, and small businesses, with more strip clubs than I like to see, but I l felt safe at the motel. I do recommend this motel for a studio visit.
My family and I found this hotel towards the end of our vacation to the LA area. I found this hotel central to all our hot spots we wanted to visit Univeral Studios, Santa Monica pier , Maui , Hollywood and many more locations. The traffic is always a factor but expected which made this location ideal for us. Very nice staff and rooms are nicely kept we plan on our next stay here from the start
We went her for a family vacation, great location off the free way, staff was super friendly, rooms were super clean and newly renovated bathrooms were beautiful and Dennys was on property so feeding the kids was not a problem.. Thank you Best Western Carriage Inn for helping our family have a memorable vacation
Front Desk Staff Robert was a professional - Great service!! Overall, great experience. Parking was a bit of an issue, as the Denny's restaurant shares parking with the Hotel, so competing customers for parking. Overall, no complaints. Great Deal!!
Hotel is very conveniently located right off the freeway. Room was clean and staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Room service offered until 11pm from the Denny's located in the hotel, and was delivered very quickly. Free parking. Would stay again!
This hotel is very comfortable and good value for the price. Easy access off the Freeway and close proximity to many area attractions. There are many restaurants located close by as well as shopping malls.
Room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. Only down side is the parking which can be tight because they share parking with Denny's customers. Check in was a breeze and the staff was professional.
After telling them that I suffer from PTSD (was the reason for my service animal with me), they stuck me in the most loud room in the hotel. It was not loud because of guests but because the wall is connected to an electric door that automatically opens when people come near it. This door makes LOUD thumping sounds that went off every 5 minutes throughout the night. For someone with PTSD that they knew about, why would you stick someone next to it. I ended up leaving the hotel and coming back in the morning to get my stuff. When I did, I spoke with Mario (I think that was his name) and he told me that because it was booked with a 3rd party he couldn't refund me and to contact them. He then gave me vouchers for 2 free $4-5 breakfasts at Dennys next door. I recently contacted hotels.com on the phone and they called the hotel which told them that my compensation was the 2 free Dennys meals. Totally ridiculous. Makes me think Mario didn't care or won't go through the refund process They also did not mention that they don't have a pool because it is under construction. I won't stay here again and it makes me not want to use hotels.com again because they didn't / couldn't really help. DON'T STAY HERE
I usually stay at the Best Western Carriage Inn in Sherman Oaks. It has easy access to the freeway, the rooms have been renovated in the last couple of years and they are currently renovating the Tower rooms. The gym is nice, business center is nice also, parking is free and the rooms are very comfortable.
Only thing missing was breakfast. Most of my hotels I stay at have continental breakfast.. Construction did not bother my visit. Nice peaceful stay. Quiet area. Friendly service. In and out without any issues
Our room was comfortable and clean, staff friendly but the traffic noise in the room is loud, day and night. When we got in our room and saw packages of ear plugs provided we were floored. The hotel only provides coffee, no breakfast but there is a Denneys in the parking lot. There was a refrigerator but no microwave in the room.
Clean hotel with good beds. Beware the pillows unless you like sleeping on rocks. Close to major arteries so easy to get anywhere. For the price, it would be nice if breakfast was included. Although the Denny's restaurant is right in their parking lot.
We stayed here with a large group had 19 rooms, the staff was amazing the rooms were very clean, bathrooms were just remodeled the pool and spa were a perfect place to relax. Our stay was great we will definitely be back.
I was put in a room with ongoing overhead construction. At first told it was only from 9am to 5pm. Then when it continued into the evening I was told it was only from noon to 8pm. It started the next day at 8:55am. It went on all day long constant hammering. I was charged full price for this room. When I complained on check out I was given credit for one night. I would have preferred to pay full price for a quiet room.
Hotel is right off of I-405 with everything you need within a mile. A great price, clean room, love the staff and the bed is very comfortable. The only disappointment is the fitness room is way too small with 3 outdated machines.
My family and I just stayed one night at this hotel and it was very clean and comfortable. Also, very quiet. We didn't hear any noise from the outside corridors or from the street. And while they don't offer breakfast, there's a Denny's right next door with great service. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel 5 stars is because of the parking situation. We arrived quite late (around 11:00 pm) and there was very limited parking. And the spots that were available were impossible to park in because the spaces are very small and even the compact cars looked like they had trouble fitting in the spots. We have a Yukon XL and literally drove around for 10 minutes trying to find a spot that was a) available and b) that we could fit in. Finally found something but it was far from our room which we weren't very comfortable with but it is what it is. Overall, would stay here again.
Stayed here for four nights for a conference. Easy location to find and easy access to main routes. Quiet for being on a major highway! Clean. Great mattresses and pillows. So comfortable. Great service checking in and out. Will stay again for sure! Also nice to have a Dennie's next door.
I highly recommend staying at this best western. It is close to universal studios. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff was friendly. I particularly appreciated the ease for which you can get in and out.
We came for a trip to universal studios and stayed fro three nights of the time we were in the room everything was good in the room the only problem we had was it pretty close to the road so road noise and construction on a near by building was pretty loud but other than it was all great
This is a very nice clean and quiet hotel and we would not hesitate to stay here again if traveling in the area. Our room was clean updated and also quiet. Hotel is close to attractions and studios. Denny's restaurant is onsite.
I love this hotel! I don't usually write reviews but I had to show my appreciation for the Very clean rooms and accommodating staff. Highly recommended for anyone visiting LA or just in need of a quick getaway. Anytime i call for any type of requests they are on it. Very helpful and friendly. When I have family in town I either stay here while they stay at my house or I make arrangements for them to stay here. Walking distance to Sherman oaks Galleria! Very central location also.
I needed a hotel in this particular party of LA even though I was not going to the places like Universal Studios in the area. I also did not have a car. The room I had (107) was opposite the office on the first floor and was very quiet and comfortable. It was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside of this hotel has no breakfast and a limited number of restaurant options near-by (if you are on foot). It is a very busy hotel and I would imagine that some rooms (those near the freeway or road) would be more noisy but my room was very quiet.
This is a wonderful hotel, we recommend it highly. Besides having great rates, it is clean, updated, and located close to many tourist attractions in the Hollywood/LA area. We stayed in the towers building toward the back of the hotel, loved it there. Our room looked exactly like the online pictures, bed was very comfortable, bathroom very clean and good shampoos, soaps, etc. and we appreciated little attentions to detail, such as a CLEAN tv remote, free wi-fi, a large in-room refrigerator, and an in-room safe was also provided at no extra charge. The pool and hot tub looked nice, though we never had time to use them, or the exercise room, and having a Denny's onsite was appreciated too for breakfast and late night food! The people were extremely friendly and helpful, loved the noon checkout, and we were a direct shot up the 405 from LAX. It was easy to find our way around, close to lots of restaurants, Target, and Ralph's grocery. We were visiting our kids here, went to Universal Studios, Hollywood, Malibu, a safari/wine tasting trip at Saddlerock Ranch (great fun!), hiked near the Hollywood sign, visited the Griffith Observatory (free), and Greystone Castle grounds (beautiful, and also free). There is so much to see and do here, and lots of it will not cost you a thing, just ask around! We enjoyed our 5 days here a lot, and will definitely be back!
Stayed in Best Western Inn many times this one was in the LA area, small room for 4 people but was clean and service was great. Price of room for two nights was average price range. Front desk was very friendly and gave us tips on when best leave for distinations we wanted to see to avoid traffic.
The front desk staff was so helpful and friendly. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Helpful with finding things to do in the area, offering Universal Studio tickets, and helping to arrange an airport shuttle. No breakfast is included with the room, but there is a Denny's on-site open 24 hours per day. I wish there would have been coffee in the reception area, and one night the vending machines were down, but those were small hiccups in a great stay. Only complaint - the parking spaces were really small.
Best Western Hotels offer reliably clean rooms and secure parking. This hotel was no different. Our stay here was uneventful and pleasant. But I learned today that Best Western is a partner with the NRA and offers NRA members discounts. For many customers, this is fine and maybe even great. For some costumers, like me, that partnership is enough to boycott the hotel. We would have stayed elsewhere (and will be in the future) if we had know about Best Western's support of the NRA. I encourage Best Western to make their NRA partnership more prominent so that future customers can make informed decisions.
Needed a quick overnight stay. Convenient and well managed location. This spot works well for me. Will likely stay here again soon. Pool is nice and a nice oasis. And Denny's close by is nice. Good access to freeways.
We are visiting from England and on a 2 week road trip around LA - San Francisco - Vegas and back to LA again! This hotel has been our LA stop off and we are so happy with it. The team are really friendly and helpful. The room is clean and the hotel is really well kept and nice! We stayed in a hotel near the airport and paid the same price and it wasnt anywhere as nice as this Best Western! The room has 2 sinks and a really nice modern bathroom! If you are looking for a place to stay in LA that is within close driving distance to lots of tourist attractions then I recommend this hotel! It also has a nice Denny's next door who deliver to your room! Thank you Best Western Plus Carriage Inn :)
Great hotel, not 100% sure about the neighbourhood but great location for Universal etc. Got vouchers for breakfast next door which were for a basic breakfast but ok. Lots of renovation work ongoing which was a mess and workmen all over which wasn't as great. Nice room with coffee and tea and good fitness room.
Great stay. 15 min away from universal studios which is why we stayed there. Awesome restaurants in the area within a mile and target is walking distance if you need anything. We didn't take advantage of this but Denny's is right beside the hotel and extremely convenient if you don't care to venture off.
My friend and I stayed at this best western just outside of Los Angeles. It was a great hotel. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff was friendly and accommodating and gave us a nice room. The bed was a little too soft for our comfort but some people may like that. We couldn't get the Internet to work but we also did not report the problem so it may have been our mistake. The Denny's restaurant right next door is open 24 hours which is a great convenience for people arriving late or leaving early. I would stay at this hotel again.
Good location. Welcoming, great accommodation, excellent service. Front desk service made one feel at home. Hotel provides all that one needs for temporary accommodation and is accessible to dining and shopping. .
The walls are really thin so you can hear everything from people in the next room to just car passing by, and I'm not a light sleeper but it was so loud I honestly thought my window and door were open when they were closed shut.
Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Easy access to freeway and universal studios. Property well maintained and felt safe. Due to proximity to freeway we could not avoid freeway noise from window or door. Better insulation around door may have muffled some of the noise. Don't know if rooms closer to entrance are quieter. We were in back courtyard. 12 pm checkout was great!
We got a hotel for new years eve and it was super nice. We would stay there again. They gave us cookies and water. My gf likes the coffee maker and k cups. The bed was really nice, I would recommend this place.
Overpriced, for the location. Right next to the freeway. Windows paper thin. Huge gap around doorframe to exterior corridor. Bed was comfy. Staff professional and friendly. Hotel needs renovation, but it looks like that might be being addressed. 24 hr room service is available from the on site Denny's.
The room was nice, big, and clean. But the first night there was no parking in the lot. The lot seemed to fill up by about 10 pm. The amusement park closes at 10pm, and it was about 20 minutes away, so it was always a surprise whether we'd have parking by our room or not.
Lovely elegant renovated rooms w great wifi/ showers/ beds/ TV; very professional & helpful staff, 24 hrs Denny's w great food & staff, immaculate property maintenance & cleanliness. Tight parking - don't bring anything larger than a small van or light pickup truck. Close to everything in the Burbank/ Sherman Oaks/ Calabasas area.
Room had no heat. By the time I needed it I was too tired to get out of bed to report the problem or change rooms. Could have used a polar sleeping bag. So much noise from the highway that they should have put in double pane glass and new window frames.
Really enjoyed my stay, one of the closes and favorite hotels. visit universal studios Hollywood with family and the drive was super close. Family really enjoyed the stay close to the freeway which also makes it even better to find.
I have repeated stays at this Best Western while on business trips for over 5 years. The Denneys restaurant on the site is consistently good for all meals at very reasonable prices. The quality of accommodations and services has been very good with no problems that the staff could not fix
Second time staying here. The front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating! Hotel is getting an update and is looking very nice! We had an appointment at UCLA medical center the next morning and it was an easy drive to UCLA. We had breakfast at the Denny's which is next to the hotel. Good food, great service.
This hotel has a great staff upon check-in. The room was very nice and location was great for us. Also located next door to a Denny's. Being on a high traffic street added some noise with traffic. Al in all a nice place to stay for convenience.
Stellar accommodations! Quiet room and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in while traveling! So comfortable that I slept through my alarm and almost slept through my check-out!! I wasn't able to take advantage of it but there's a Denny's right out front too!!
We were amazed at how quiet our room was. With Sepulveda on one side and the 405 on the other, we were prepared for a noisy night. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find the room very quiet, the bed comfortable and slumber came easy. We'll be back again.
Most of the hotels charge for parking, this one does not, the hotel has been newly renovated so they look very nice, the value is great and it is located to most activities within the Central and Northern LA areas.
Clean, modern room. Parking was far from the room and had to use to stairs to get up to my floor. Keep in mind if you have back issues and a heavy case. Check out staff really nice; check-in staff a little jaded.
If you want a no-nonsense hotel that has easy access to the freeways, then this hotel works. The Dennys is steps away and about a mile or so down the road is a mall and restaurants. The room is simple and clean and the staff are fine. I stayed in the newer end so it was a bit isolated from the main lobby but it had an inside entrance, which I preferred. I didn't drive but there seemed to be adequate parking.
We've stayed at this hotel for many years because of the location and Dennys being on the property, only this last trip just wasn't as good as it has been. The room smelled and was right next to housekeeping that were so noisy we couldn't talk a nap. We had to wait an hour to get into a vacant room when asked for an early check in. And for some reason, the beds are not very comfortable. They need to upgrade this hotel after all these years! It is a great location for everything to do though, and if you go see Robert, he has been there for years and very helpful.
The decor was fine and the unit was clean, the staff was fine. Unfortunately, the tissue/tp was poor quality, the bed pillows were way too fat for a side sleeper, there were no towel racks in bathroom, and the bed was marginal.
The breakfast at Denny"s was a nice touch. The grounds were very attractive and well maintained. The room was clean and the staff were very helpful. Shopping and places to eat were close to the Hotel.
The Carriage Inn Staff does not overdo. They DO... with exceptional hospitality and professionalism. We will return! And we will recommend The Carriage Inn to our family, our friends AND all who ask!!! MANY THANKS!!!!!
This place was a great value, easy access from 101 and 405, nice appearance, simple but well arranged and well equipped rooms, and it was great to be able to have our dog stay with us, for a reasonable daily fee. It's pretty big though, so there are a lot of people moving around all of the time. Set expectations for parking congestion, outdoor noise, doors opening/closing. Overall good, would stay again.
I have no idea why this hotel would have a bad review...yes it on Sepulveda Blvd. and yes you hear traffic...they supply ear plugs right on the bedside table. Karo was very kind and professional at the front desk. We ate at Denny's (in the same parking lot), found a parking space that was well lit and the room was the bomb. Double sink areas, bathroom was nice, bed was comfortable and clean. Would totally stay here again. There are elevators and it is well kept.
My family and I were satisfied with the location of the hotel and the service provided by the staff despite an almost full occupancy situation. I would like to especially commend Mr Richard del Valle, Assistant Manager for going out of the way to meet the needs of a thankful hotel guest. After we had checked out of the hotel enroute to Grand Canyon, Mr de Valle called me on my foreign mobile number to tell me about my bag containing important travel documents that my family forgetfully left behind in the hotel room safebox. He went out of the way to send the bag complete with its contents via Fedex on a Saturday during the Veterans' Day weekend to the hotel that we were planning to stay a few days later. My family and I are truly appreciative of the initiative and efforts of Mr de Valle and hotel staff to help the guests in an exceptional situation that could potentially have turned our vacation into a disaster.
We wanted a place to stay close to Universal Studios so we didn't have to drive for an hour or more in LA traffic from where our final destination was. I had read reviews and found some good things, some bad things said. One was that the parking left a lot to be desired, and we didn't find that at all. Front desk was very helpful in providing phone number for food delivery services, and directions to our destination the next morning. A vest was left behind and they were very helpful in getting it returned to us. We didn't have any complaints at all, other than no on site comp breakfast.
OK if you don't mind a motel in a noisy, gritty area and you don't mind paying a high rack rate. It isn't a hotel in that the doors are on the outside. The food choices weren't great, especially if you didn't want to drive. The GPS says this hotel is in Van Nuys however they are actually on the border of Sherman Oaks.
We stayed a couple of weeks ago its great here, good sized clean room with excellent facilities in it and on the site. We made use of the outside pool the area was kept clean and well maintained, towels supplied. Dennys diner next door being 24hrs was handy and they supply room service which is not overly expensive. The area is central for travelling around LA. Staff were lovely and helpful. Would stay here again if we were lucky enough to go back to the area.
We travel A LOT as a family, mostly all business related trips. So when we book a hotel, it has to have exactly what we are looking for: clean rooms, non smoking, near by restaurants with delivery services, internet, coffee, microwave (we travel with lots of popcorn), a refrigerator, quiet locations, and has to have breakfast! We really liked this location, no complaints and an employee gave up his parking space for us!
I am a native Angelino here, And I know the city well. To make an informed decision here are my observations: PROS: 1. The exterior of this property is actually well-maintained and clean. It is by no means rundown or “sketchy“. This is a place where you could bring a family and not worry about their safety on the site. 2. There is a Denny's restaurant virtually attached to the motel which makes getting grub super easy. It's also a nice and clean Denny's. 3. Because of the foot traffic in the area, I doubt street crime will be a problem. 4. In light of the fact that Los Angeles is very spread out and accessible only by car, this is centrally located. 5. Affordability: the price actually seems reasonable based on hotel prices in the city. CONS: 1. A little bit of isolation. Angelenos are used to commuting everywhere. If we're within 20 minutes of someplace we don't even consider it a “commute” to get there. Other than going to Denny's, there's really not anything around here worth seeing. 2. Don't even think of not renting a car. While technically not located on the moon, you're not gonna be walking to any site in the city from this motel. 3. The motel is situated between the busiest freeway in Southern California and one of the busiest surface streets. Literally. I promise that you won't wake up thinking that you're in Kauai.
Stayed here because we working on a construction job in Beverly Hills. Close to everything, very clean, beds were comfortable, staff is courteous and helpful. Have stayed at other hotels in L.A. and this one is a good value in comparison. Am booking another few nights here until our job is completed.
Spent a couple of days at this BW. The room was spotless, and the people at the front desk were very nice and helpful. Having Denny's next door was good for breakfast and dinner. Overall, I enjoyed the stay. The reservation was made over the phone, and the person who attended gave me recommendations in order to get the best rate, This is appreciated.
We stayed two nights for a trip to Universal Studios, the hotel was fine, our room was on the street side so kind of noisy but overall was nice. We appreciated the two sinks in the bathroom area (one in with the toilet and shower, the other outside of the bathroom). This is a preferred hotel of Universal Studios so it would be nice if a free shuttle to the park was offered but it is not. There is a Denny's attached to the hotel and a discount for guests would be appreciated, we were told discounts are only for groups.
The service by the maids was wonderful. We would leave for breakfast at Denny's next door and the room was done upon our return. Fresh, clean towels, a safe in the room, coffee maker, refrigerator (small) and a great tv. We liked the room in the corner because there was no foot traffic noise at night. The boulevard slows down at night and traffic noise is not heard in our room.
I booked 2 rooms. I stayed with my kids and sisters. My 1yr old found 2 pills that did not belong to any of us, one in each room and all I got was a forced apology at the front desk. I received a refund for 1/2 of what I had paid a couple of days later, but was taken back from my account again the day after. I guess customer satisfaction is not on their policy.
We were very pleased with our stay here. The hotel on the exterior is a little dated but the room was very nice. Bed was comfortable, especially after a long day at Universal Studios. Our first room we were given ended up having a broken AC unit. We called the front desk and within 10 minutes the maintenance guy was there checking it out. He quickly found that he would need to replace the unit so the front desk would need to have us switch rooms. He was back within 15 minutes with keys to a new room. We ere very happy with how promptly they took care of that situation. Very nice staff. Would definitely recommend this place to stay!
We came down to SoCal for the L.A. Italian Festival in North Hollywood this past weekend. We chose the Best Western because of the convenience to where we needed to be. It was right off the 405( San Diego) freeway on Sepulveda Blvd. There was a Denny's right there onsite for a quick meal, and the hotel itself was clean, and pretty quiet, considering being so close to heavily-traveled streets. The location was close enough to family, and not too terribly difficult to get around this part of L.A. I would use this hotel again for future family visits.
Noise from Traffic...Noise from A/C...Odors and Bugs! What more could you not want? Best Western has finally hit the lowest bottom of all standards! They should Pay You To Stay There! They should close it down! Oh and I am forgetting, they offer Ear Plugs for Sensitive Sleepers! So they know their product!
If you are trying to balance price with quality and safety, this is a great hotel. Reasonably priced, in a good location and it felt very safe. We had previously stayed in Van Nuys, and pulled up to our hotel to police guarding the entrance due to a large homeless community. While this is a "open" courtyard hotel, it felt very safe. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Denny's is right on property for convenient dining,
This property is well enough kept, but you can tell that is well used. Despite that, the rooms are clean and well maintained. The front desk personnel are very professional and well dressed in suits aznd ties. Unexpected in as hotel in this price range. Very nice.
Best Western Plus Carriage Inn is a convenient location for my husband and I. We visit friends in CA at least twice a year and we only stay at BWP Carriage Inn. The grounds are always attractive and clean. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Denny's Restaurant is located adjacent to the Inn, which is convenient because they are open 24 hours.
We were very happy with the quality and location of this hotel. Everything was in very good condition. It was new and clean. It was very good bang-for-the-buck. I also enjoyed having a Denny's right there. We got some breakfast vouchers thrown in as a perk from Expedia and we thought it was nice to have an independent 24-hour restaurant in the same parking lot.
After a 6 hour drive to Burbank, my friend and I were turned away from The Holiday Inn even after having reservations for a month. The Best Western was the last hotel in the area with a room and they were very polite and happy to help. The Hotel was very nice and clean, and the staff was nothing but helpful. I found a new place to stay when I come into town!
Our bed was broken the first night of our three night stay. Management did fix the problem the next morning but it would have been nice to have a small reduction in our total stay as we would have done better sleeping on the floor. We stay at this location because it is close to our family. It would also be nice to have breakfast included for the prices paid.
Stayed here for 5 days in September. Check in was fast and easy. Rooms were spacious and beds were soft and comfy. Loved the separate bathroom with additional sink area outside. Pool and hot tub were great. Loved that there was a Denny's attached to the property. We ate there A LOT!
Good value for the price. Easy beach access. Really good breakfast included that was well stocked, staffed and managed. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Had snacks in the evening which was an unexpected surprise
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in Sept 2017 with family. It is good, decent budget hotel with very courtegeous staff. Rooms are clean with all facilities like laundry, cofee machines, wifi etc.It is located at reasonable distance from downtown, Hollywood etc. There are plenty good restaurants around this hotel. We use Cab service of Uber for movement and found very cheap with flexibility.
This hotel came in very handy with I needed a place to crash from my home for a week!! I would definitely stay there again, and have my family stay here when they visit too! The ONLY thing that I might suggest is better PILLOWS. I love a nice pillow.
My wife and I have stayed at this property countless times for over probably the last 15 years and are always surprised by the improvements that are always being made. I think on one of our first visits I remember seeing a groups person wiping every stair tread on a flight of stairs. Thanks for the job you do and making us always feeling welcome and appreciative..
Decided to stay one night in a hotel and give the kids some privacy. Stayed here when Kora was born so stayed again. The hotel was clean, great staff and easy to get to. Too bad this survey makes me use more words than I really care to type out
We found this location to be convenient to UCLA. The room was very nice. Clean and fresh looking. Comfy bed. Modern fixtures. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was at the Denny's next door. We are already booked for a return trip. This is our new go to for college visits>
There was plenty of parking. The room was very clean . The beds were very Comfortable .we, were very close to the restaurant and store. I liked the fact that there was a Deney next door and they do room service too!
My husband's from LA originally so we chose Sherman Oaks because it was the perfect locale for us. Our room was always clean, even when we came back to rest in late afternoon before moving on to next activity. We had first floor room, at the end, it was perfect. Having the microwave and refrigerator was great all BWs have them, but this was particularly helpful since we were there 3 days. Spotless room
For the price this was a nice hotel. I would recommend getting tbis deal on groupon. However it's a little far from Disney and knotts. Clean and cozy! The pool was clean and was a way to freshen up after a long drive.
I've stayed here twice now and had a good experience both times. My room was reasonably clean and very comfortable. Nice bedding. Coffee maker, microwave, fridge, safe in closet. The hotel is very close to the 405 freeway off/on ramp. It's very close to many LA attractions, yet is quiet and reasonably priced. People must know that, because it was packed while I was there and every single possible place to park was taken. The hotel takes up a large area on the corner next to Denny's and several gas stations, but the lovely landscaping and the way it is set up makes you feel as if you are in a garden. There is a pool and hot spa, though I didn't get to use them. No breakfast area, but on arrival guests are given a coupon for a free breakfast at the onsite Denny's. All staff was polite and kind. There is a nice Gevalia coffee maker in the reception area with nice coffee flavor choices. Also a nice well stocked business center with computers that work well. I didn't check out the fitness room. Will stay here again on my next visit to the area.
Staff is friendly and the hotel is beautiful. The hot tub there is grate, dis not try the pool but it looked really nice. The room was grate and the bed's are really comfy. The front desk was able to help us out with everything that we need.
This a clean hotel/ Motel. It serves its purpose for staying for a night or two. It is in a very busy intersection. I used the ear plugs that was provided to have a good night sleep. They can't do much about it's location but it is clean and good service.
Tidy and clean motel with updated rooms and nice staff. Very noisy location right off a freeway ramp and busy street with ambulance sirens, car alarms etc going on and off. Walls are also very thin, I could hear the conversations and music of the girls next door. Pillows are large hard foam pillows like you have on your couch. I used a rolled up towel to sleep instead after being told all Best Western's use this type of pillow. Anyway, if you take care of those two issues you're good to go. It's a pretty decent place for the price.
This hotel is a great place to stay If you' have a quick trip planned its close Universal Studios and Magic Mountain the staff is amazing, the rooms are clean and Denny's is on property. What more do you need
We were horrified and management management said it wasn't there staff. For awhile we didn't know who had access to our room. Management said staff always knocks and that their staff should have known the room was occupied. I felt very unsafe during my stay.
It's was a nice room, I sleep very well.the only thing I didn't liked it was the the don't serve continental breakfast. Other then that everything vas fine. I love the mattress very contable, a lot parking space and very closely to shopping malls.
This is always a comfortable stay for us in Sherman Oaks. The motel has been totally refurbished, the rooms are upgraded and it is actually a pretty high quality Best Western Plus. On the somewhat negative side, the parking area is very tight and it is sometimes difficult to find a spot late at night; there is no breakfast offered, but there is a very good Denny's on site; the motel is pricey at certain times of the year, but Best Western Rewards helps bring the prices down. I really would recommend its, since places to stay in Sherman Oaks are limited.
I stay at this hotel each and every time I travel to California. Its close to everything and the staff has always been great. I recommend this hotel to larger families that like to have joining rooms with a door between as that always convenient.
My family vacation was very good I Thing this is a very Good Hotel, a lot of parking, very clean.and good location, the staff very courtesy. I will recommend this hotel Best Western Plus Carriage Inn, Sherman Oaks, CALIFORNIAWhat's
I enjoyed the employees for such a great experience at Best Western. It was comfortable and pleasing. I will indeed be returning when I go on my next vacation. Thank you to all the employees who made it happen
The person at the front desk was very helpful and professional. My room was very clean and comfortable but expensive for the area. It's was nice to have a Dennys in the same parking lot. I would stay here again.
Great hotel we stayed at this hotel for 3 days as a base it as a pool the rooms are very clean there's a Denny's diner next door so great for morning breakfast .we went to Santa Monica pier from this hotel and muscle beach which was only a 35 minute drive.
Great place to stay. I enjoyed our stay. There were no problems. Very clean and efficient. It was a perfect location because family lived near by. The pool was clean and beautiful. It was easy to find.
Welcoming at front desk was awesome. Although I was told I could be notified at 11 AM when Romen is available or not. I was not notified I waited in the parking lot until 3 PM when finally I walked in to receive my room
After reading several reviews of other hotels, I decided to stay at this Best Western Plus Carriage Inn. As promised, our room was clean and neat, and overall we have a really good experience. Easy access to at least two freeways, and was easy enough to get to from the Burbank Airport. I had to "up" my hotel budget to avoid some of the other "dumps and dives" that were reviewed, but this hotel was still a lot of bang for my buck. Much more budget-friendly than any of the other surrounding hotels in the area. Very pleased with the cleanliness of the room, friendly and helpful staff, and our first waiter in the Denny's Restaurant was a riot! Very good service with a laugh or two thrown in! Overall a very good experience and I would definitely stay there again if I'm ever back in the area. Even though the bed felt a little too firm, I slept very well and didn't wake up with anything aching as I usually do on a too-hard mattress. So I'm giving it excellent marks for sleep quality!
Very clean room and great location. Easy checking in and the room service is great. Nice and friendly staffs. I recommend everyone to stay in this hotel especially of those who loves to eat at Dinnys; it is attached to the hotel building.
Everything was clean. Nice TV. All of the guys at the service desk were friendly and helpful Beds were comfortable and a double sink with plenty of counter space in the restroom. Not the usual Best Western in house breakfast but there was a Denny's right next to it. The parking lot filled to capacity. We would come back again.
Basic hotel/motel with two stories. We stayed on the second floor. The Only window of the hotel room faces the hallway (aka curtains need to remain closed). Check in was easy and staff were nice. There's a Danny's right by and Target (opens until midnight) a block away. Our room was not super close to the street so we were not bothered by the street noise, however A/C fan turned on and off throughout the night and produced loud noise that woke us up couple of times at night.
Our room's lock wouldn't open upon check-in and we had to just wait outside for a while; the lock itself was broken. We eventually got switched to another room but the employee wasn't sorry even a bit for making us wait all along.
We were visiting Universal Studios and the locations was great. The rooms were very clean and the employees were all very nice. Love the convenience of the Denny's on the property and they also deliver room service:)
very nice, clean, people were all very nice. was in the middle of redoing some of the rooms and changing out mattresses, so a little disruptive, but understandable. pretty close to many things.nice Denny's to get a quick breakfast.
Today was my last night here, and I wish it wasn't. I had such a comfortable stay. The room is immaculate, the service unparalleled, and the Denny's room service so efficient. Abundant parking too!! I love Best Western now and will use their accommodations now when I travel since I have had such a wonderful experience here.
Great location, recent renovations very very nice, clean and comfortable. Pleasant staff, convenient parking, very nice pool area and easy freeway access. Strongly recommend if you want to stay in this area ..... avoid the hustle/bustle.
This is a great hotel choice for those visiting LA for Universal Studios. For families, the perks are: close to Universal, nice sized fridge in the room, queen-sized beds. One of my favorite features, though, was the bathroom arrangement. There is a sink and closet space, which is separated by a wall from the sleeping area. Adjacent to this is the actual bathroom with toilet, shower and an additional sink. Two sinks in separate areas! This is a gift when 4 people are simultaneously getting ready in the morning or evening. The staff was attentive and friendly. We had no problem with parking, even when coming in after 10 one night.. Some reviewers have complained about the size of the parking spaces. The spaces near the hotel office are compact, but the connecting lots adjacent to the other hotel wings are larger and more than adequate for a full-size sedan or SUV. The Denny's on site was also a pleasant surprise. I'm not usually a fan of the chain, but we had a good breakfast there for a great price. My only criticism - and it's a minor one - the pillows. Too fluffy and not firm enough for stomach sleepers. Doable for sleeping on your back or side but still felt overstuffed. Would recommend.
Wow, what a great place to stay in LA. The staff were sincere, friendly and attentive to detail. I passed the GM in the parking lot and he stopped to chat with me and really made me feel welcome (very nice touch). Apparently, there's been some upgrades and I love all the new renovations. The computer services in the internet cafe were exactly what I needed. The rooms and amenities were awesome too. It's also right near the 101 and 405 freeways; lots of options for nearby shopping and eateries. Parking was super easy. Friends and I were able to uber just over the hill to see a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. We made it in and out swiftly! Strongly recommended for people wanting to visit LA and skip all the hustle and bustle. 5 out of 5 stars!!!
The Best Wester Plus Carriage Inn is a must stay if your staying in Sherman Oaks. The Inn is a real gem, from the pleasant staff all around to the amenites and the comfort of the rooms we had no complaints. Its location is perfect as there is freeway access, dining, stores, gas stations all super close by. Its a no brainer while on vacation for Universal Studios or away on business. 5 out of 5 stars!
Very unfriendly staff upon check in. No parking if you are a late arrival. I was told to drive out of the property and find parking across the street or around the corner. Mattresses were stained and not comfortable. Our room was right next to an ice machine and my family and I were awaken by the ice machine at 5:30am. Will not recommend or return to this Best Western.
This is a very basic hotel/motel right off the freeway. Our room had been recently renovated, others were still being renovated. The porches and walkways were also under reconstruction. The room was good size, the bath looked brand new. I liked that there were two sinks - One outside the bathroom and one inside. The staff was professional and helpful with directions. The pool is small, the laundry room is basic, there is free wifi and parking. The rooms have as a small refridgerator and a coffee pot. A Denny's is onsite. Some rooms could be bothered by traffic noise, but we were not bothered by noise. There is a Target store within walking distance.
Just on the edge of San Luis Obispo, in the middle of the suburban shops. The rooms are standard Best Western size. 4 stories, no elevator! Nice mid size swimming pool in the center of the establishment. The complementary breakfast is so so.
The location was perfect for me because of where I was going but it is very close to freeway. The staff were all very friendly. The room was big and clean. A little bit of noise from streets but not much considering I ma very sensitive to it. I would stay here again for sure.
Hotel is an older hotel but it is clean. The parking is not the best, more cars then spots to park. Dennys is right next door and there are lots of other options to eat nearby. Location is great for visiting LA Area.
extremely consistent in service and amenities available in the san Fernando valley. The Dennys restaurant on the property delivers meals to the rooms from 7am to 11pm at night. The food is the best in the chain .
This is a great place to stay! The staff is friendly, the rooms are a good size, and they have a nice pool. A restaurant is located on the property and is open 24/7. Other amenities are close by, and it is close to major highways
Limited parking. Noise from all of those around you. A.C. was weak. Kept it at 65 the entire stay and that barely made room comfortable. We had adjoining room door with someone we don't know and they smoked in the room and we had to smell it. Positives: beds were comfortable, TV was nice, room service did a fine job each day. For the price we paid, we expected a whole lot better accommodations.
The hotel was convenient located. Just above L.A. Did not have to go through the city. About 20 minutes from our family We stayed on the inside of the courtyard away from the freeway. It was very quiet. The room was clean. Towels nice and thick. The only problem we had is that we didn't get cold water right away. The maintenance gentleman came within 10 minutes and explained to us how to work the faucet and the problem was solved. I must say that it was 106 F.outside
The room was clean and comfortable, but smaller than expected. The bathroom ventilation fan did not appear to be working, so it got a little smelly at times. We had to cut our stay short (from 3 nights to 2 nights) because one of us was ill and we needed to go home. The hotel staff was very helpful with changing our reservation and not charging us for the extra (unused) night. We really appreciated that, and will come back soon.
We booked this hotel for just one night, and honestly..when going back to LA for any length of time I'll book again. It's clean, in a nice area, the staff is friendly and the rooms were well appointed and exceptionally clean! I couldn't ask for a better place to stay, and it's right off the 101 which makes it very easy to get to and get back on the 101 for travel. We arrived early and our rooms were ready and waiting for us way before check in time, I had called ahead asked for adjoining rooms and that's what we got. We were very happy and quite pleased with the rooms. I'd recommend the Best Western Carriage Inn to everyone.
Very poor amenities - no breakfast provided; room in poor condition; parking on grounds an issue. Would not recommend this particular Best Western; will not stay here again. Not sure why it is rated a "Plus" in the Best Western network!
Booked a room in advance of my stay. The information that was given alerted the staff I was a single female. I did have with me a small dog with me and was told certain rooms are designated for those who have a pet. I was given a room that was at the very end of a dingy outdoor corridor where the dumpster (which the garbage truck emptied early that morning) and where maintenance items are kept. It is very easy for anyone to hide around the corner in wait. There was a bench for the COMFORT of smokers to hang out. A chain link fence which would be quite easy to jump over was the only thing that separated the I-405 freeway and my room. I called the front desk and told them I felt very unsafe and to put me in a room in a safe location. I was told there was only one room available to me which was two doors down and I should be fine in the original room because maintenance men are always around and close by! This information was absolutely of no comfort to me. I never left my room 'till morning to check out. An exception could and should have been made to put me and my 9lb dog in a room that wasn't designated for a guest and my pet. But is was not. I never left my room until morning to check out.
When ever I travel I read the reviews of hotels and look for trends in the concerns. So when I decided to book this hotel I thought It would be OK, but not great. From the time I walked and was warmly greeted by very professions front desk person, to questions I needed to ask through out the trip it was a great experience. The room was clean. All the staff were professional and friendly. The location was great for Universal Studios (10 min drive). The price good for what we wanted to do. I felt safe around the neighborhood. Hotels closer to Universal Studios were much more expensive and the drive time really was manageable. We used the pool each night. If I had one concern (and there is nothing they can do about it) parking is really tight and if you arrive late you might be walking from the opposite side of your hotel to your room. One caution, the first time coming to this hotel you can easily drive by it and not know it was there. Even with GPS we had watch pretty close to find it. Would I recommend this hotel? - Absolutely. Will I be back if I travel this way again? Absolutely. Thank for a great stay!
The room was the only thing about the hotel. The price is with no breakfast included. No one help you to your room and you have to climb stairs with your luggage if staying on the second floor. Best you have to book your own airport shuttle all they do is direct you to their website which is not clear.
Simply put, This will be the hotel we will choose to stay at every time we visit our daughter. It is centrally located to everything we needed and wanted to do in the city and surrounding areas. We felt very comfortable at this location.
BW Carriage Inn was a great choice for a recent business trip. The location is convenient to several freeways and the Burbank Airport. The room was spotlessly clean and had been recently update. The comfortable bed helped insure a good night's sleep, so I would choose to stay here again.
When you need a place to stay in the city it's good for convenience and cleanliness . They are working on the hotel so to be interesting to see how they do in the future they've upgraded bathrooms which was very nice and they need to work on the beds and the flooring .
there is the busy Los Angeles with freeways and cars whizzing by and then there is Best Western Carriage Inn tucked away yards from the stretch of Speulveda - the cars whizz and bustle all around yet this oasis serves as a pocket of peace- the pool is lovely and a nice escape to swim and sun. visiting my son who lives nearby - was a perfect place to chill
Great experiamce. Will stay here again. Thanks for the nice amenities. Very comforting and comfortable. This review is a bit off putting however, since you insist that I need 200 words for this. Very uncool!
I travel to the area every few months for the State of CA and have had little luck in the past finding decent hotels near our Chatsworth office. Old photos of the hotel showed rooms with windows facing the outside- which I hate. So when I got to my room - 402 - I was happy to learn I had an interior room. My window faced busy Sepulveda Blvd. but it wasn't that noisy, and neither was the air conditioner, which worked well. The room was clean and hospitable. The only complaint is that the room was in the back building, and the elevator was marked floors 1, 2, 3 instead of 3, 4, 5, so I got frustrated trying to determine how to get to my floor. The back building contains floors 3, 4, and 5. If the hotel keeps the state per diem rates, I'll be back.
Check-in was easy and very friendly. Plenty of parking and great location; only about a 20 minute drive from Universal Studios. Room was clean and very nicely decorated. There is no complimentary breakfast but there is a 24 hour Denny's on site. My only complaint is the hotel is located right off a street that is a fire route, so we were awakened by sirens numerous times throughout the night. Overall, we would definitely stay again!
The room was perfect, spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the bathroom; two sinks and mirrors with light. Location is good, although LA traffic is horrible at any time of the day. The pool area is small but cosy and clean. Our room was situated right inbetween the freeway, the exit of the freeway and Sepulveda boulevard. The earplugs on the nightstand worried us, and what we feared appeared to be true: a LOT of noise from traffic. It is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep without proper earplugs (the ones provided by the hotel don't work). It's like we were camping out on the freeway. I would definitely recommend this hotel price/location/quality wise, but bring earplugs!
Thank you for an excellent experience. The property has lots of trees, shrubs and flowers. It's like an oasis; a real get away. The rooms are spacious, clean and updated. The amenities are practical and useful. You'll want to take advantage of everything.
Extremely loud from freeway noise and boulevard noise. I could hear car noise while wear earplugs even though my room did not face street and did not face freeway. I slept through it no problem, but if you are sensitive at all, this is not the place for you.
Thank you for the great stay! We will be coming back. Loved the location and that it wasn't to load at all and that there was food places right around the corner. There was also a pool there as well. Thank you
My first room smelled like smoke and surrounding area like pot. For nonsmoking hotel lots of people lightning up. Also people sleeping in crappy looking cars in the parking lot who obviously don't have a room. Also some crack head people wandering around. I'll book elsewhere next time....
friendly, clean rooms, staff were helpful and clean looking. Parking was a little tight but available. Diner was clean and friendly good service. It was buy the street so a little noisy but all and all a very nice stay.
Very comfortable stay for me and my children! I felt safe and which is very important when I travel alone with my children. Also the staff was very helpful. My daughter forgot her universal souvenir and they found it and shipped it to us at home in AZ.
What can I say...been staying here almost every month for more than 2 yrs...work related and leisure purposes..staff are the greatest...lots Of restaurants around the area, short distance to some attractions like Universal Studio..
Our favorite motel in Southern California, its clean, comfortable and safe. The staff are very professional and accommodating. The motel is surprisingly quiet! We will always stay at The Carriage Inn!
Good room, excellent bed, good work area and WiFi. Separate room with three computers and printer accessible by room key not just hotel lobby computer. Right next to freeways. coffee maker & refrigerator but no microwave in room. Pool and Jacuzzi..
I am a traveling service technician so getting hotels can be a little dicey on last second notice. The Best Western Carriage Inn was booked full, but said they would watch for me if any cancelations or early checkouts happen. Sure enough they kept their word and I got a room. The front desk associates were very professional, dressed to succeed, and the rooms were very pleasant. Bed comfortable. Slept very well!!
We were in Los Angeles for a wedding in the San Fernando Valley, and this Best Western in Sherman Oaks proved to be a very good choice--easy access to the freeway and to the wedding festivities in nearby towns; good restaurants in the area; a large mall located about a mile away, etc. The staff was very accommodating. Some wedding guests arrived on morning flights and the staff made efforts to arrange for early check-in. We asked for an extra luggage rack and it came immediately. One heads up--unlike most Best Western hotels, this one does not provide breakfast because a Denny's restaurant is located next door, attached to the same building. This meant an added expense for breakfast--whether at Denny's or elsewhere--beyond the cost of the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable, though, and other guests in our party were also satisfied. A BIG plus was the ample, free parking in back of the hotel.
Room was clean, pool was nice and hot tub was ok! Internet worked fine and the grounds were nice! Staff was friendly and helpful! Problems with hotel was pretty expensive no breakfast option, the only place was a onsite Denny's with no discount for staying in hotel! With price of hotel which wasn't cheap it seems like some kind of deal could have been made!
Disappointed overall. Couldn't make things right w/ price and for the service. Almost $300 for a 2 star hotel?? Really? And then having issues w/in the room (HVAC/ odor, etc). CSR wasn't helpful nor were they wanting to make things right by hoping to change us to a different "working" room
We needed a quick stay over in Sherman Oaks and this Best Western was the best in value quality and service. They are currently in renovation. Nonetheless, the overall appearance of the hotel inside and out looks great and the staff were awesome.
All night guests were walking talking yelling and pimping. Not a safe place to stay and not for family place. Better monitor your guest before you let them stay in your hotel. So obvious that illegal dealings are daily activity here. Ensure the safety of you guests. Rooms are very clean and nice.
Stayed here after a day at Universal and the location was awesome. Much quieter than staying downtown LA and a much better price. The younger blond guy that checked us in was super friendly and welcoming! Our room was nice and clean and very comfortable. Everyone we met including housekeeping and maintenance was so friendly!
This hotel is conveniently located close to the airport. Building is dated but clean. In the room my shower drain was plugged up and my room safe didn't work. Pot smokers outside my room and cars with people hang out in the parking lot. Homeless people outside of the building with dogs barking consistently. Good price but you get what you paid for. Disappointing for a Best Western.
OK hotel. Pricey for what you get. No breakfast, noisy, but a good location. Our room was in the process of being remodeled and there was a nail on the floor, wall paper that didn't quite make it to the door molding. The bed was GREAT! and the TV worked. New carpeting. The room was clean.
i really don't get the negative reviews.. The hotel is clean, constantly maintained, room service cleans so efficiently, front desk staff was always willing to help with any of our requests, and the management was just awesome! The location is great...right next to the major freeways, close to Ventura Blvd. with lots of shops and dining options. thanks Eric for making our stay a 5star experience!!
I stay a this B.W. every 3 to 6 mos, for medical treatment at UCLA. The staff is always very kind and accommodating, as well as the management team. It has easy access to the both the 405 & 101 freeways and very close to the UCLA campus & medical facilities. Plus, this B.W. allows pets, and is less expensive than any of the hotels in Santa Monica, where I also have medical appointments.
I had a very average stay I enjoyed it, but it could have been better. I had a quiet night, which is good. I just wanted it to be more pleasant for the amount I paid. It was good but was still very average nothing really stood out for me.
Front desk was so helpful and polite. The property is pretty and clean. The room is very nice, clean and cozy. Very nice hotel. This hotel is close to Universal Studios. No shuttle, but within driving distance.
This awesome property has always been my go-to for every LA visit. Great freeway access, comfortable beds, very clean rooms and the most efficient and friendliest staff. This property is also very close to some of the best restaurants in Sherman Oaks or Studio City as well as the Getty Museum, Universal Studios and UCLA campus. Looking forward to my next stay!
I love this place! Comfortable,clean...amazing people that work here. EASY to drive from here to anywhere in LA... and to get to LAX as well. Gorgeous pool. Close to Gallerie and lots of great 'eats' and places. Denny's right here. I enjoy LA SO much better staying here!!! Free parking! Big deal in LA.
Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this place. Will highly recommend it to folks who are looking for a quality hotel within budget. The place was clean and the staff were very professional. This place is nice!
Stayed here for 10 days while visiting family close by. The room was a good size and appreciated fridge, tv and comfort of room while having down time. The room was clean and well serviced. No reservation about recommending. Decor was a little tired or would have given it an overall 5.
Not only a great location but good value. Once I learned my way around, was pleasantly surprised at all the restaurants and shopping close by. Easy access to the freeways as well. Staff really friendly and accommodating
Loved the staff, loved the hotel & great location. This is the second time we stayed at this hotel and our experience was amazing. Loved the décor of the lobby area & the guest rooms. We forgot the toothpaste and asked the front desk and they sent it up right away. We had dinner at Denny's that is onsite after a long day at Universal Studios and they also great service. Highly recommend the hotel!
Strayed here with my family. This hotel was clean and the hotel staff treated my family like royalty.. It had a large pool and good breakfast offered at Dennys right there in the front of the hotel. Only negative was the spa was down for remodel.. But all in all this was a great place to stay and I would recommend it to everyone.
This was the perfect hotel for our Universal Studios trip, Just off the freeway so we could jump on and off get around.. The room was spacious and very clean, the staff was great Grant even gave me his business card and told me if I had any issues call him directly.. Its the little touches that made me have a great experience, the manager Eric was in the lobby upon arrival and greeted us and gave me directions. Dennys was on property so the kids could eat first thing in the morning. The pool was warm and clean.. I will defiantly be back at this hotel every time we come to LA
Easy access to the freeway and dining. Basic, no frills room that was very clean, good wifi and decent sized fridge. Ample parking and I felt safe as a female traveling alone for business. There is a swimming pool that was popular with the children.
The Best Western Carriage Inn was a surprisingly nice hotel for the price we paid. The Denny's restaurant attached was one of the nicest we have ever been in and the service was excellent along with a tasty hot breakfast before we went on to Universal Studios. A nice, affordable hotel for the family that is not too far from the amusement parks.
Stayed many times at the hotel. Not glamorous but provides everything I need at a reasonable price. Only problem is there is a Dennys on site.but there are many other eateries a few minutes drive away.
the service was good, they let us check in early. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. I enjoyed my stay at best western and would recommend it. No problems whatsoever during my stay. Would stay there again
Excellent. I feel This Best Western Carriage Inn Plus and all the Staff deserves 10 stars!! I felt at home there, in Sherman Oaks, California...having had lived in Westwood in 1980. The front desk manager was very on top of all my needs as well as the Maid Service was excellent and not to mention/norforget the room was beaytiful and spotless!!
This Best Western in Sherman Oaks was at a good location near tbe intersection of two highways, but far enough away for that sound not to be an issue. The room was clean. It had a refrigerator, but the lighting could have been brighter. Breakfast was not provided, but a grab of food snacks (water, fruit, and a granola bar) was offered.
Very nice and clean and great rate for last minute bookings with the family. The only bad part is the Restaurant next door "Denny's" was closed for construction so that was a bit of an inconvenience but either than that I will most likely be coming back when in town for pleasure with the entire family.
I do really enjoy this place It was very clean and nice What i like the most it was inside of the room in general the entire place is nice also the location is very convenience and close to shopping centers
My experience would have been great if I wouldn't have experienced a nasty rude employee screaming at another employee. It appears to be a supervisor or manager yelling at an employee in Spanish. She's pretty tall with a pony tail and dark hair. I found it to be disturbing, disgusting and unprofessional, it also seemed as if upper management was okay with it being that she was screaming in public. SHE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
This was our 5 th time staying here and 3rd time during Universal Horror nights. We mainly stay here when we come down in October for the halloween events that are happening around Los angeles. Room was clean and nice. Great place to stay only draw back was no free breakfast except a to go bag. That the only thing I would hope they could change and get. But none the less I will stay here again next time. The staff is awesome and willing to help with anything you need. They have my business for now on during October.
Asking for a two hundred character minimum review is ridiculous-- what do you want for the bad reviewers to give up or for the good reviewers to somehow keep going on and on etc. Not my idea of an easy/comfortable request for review.
The main reason of my stay there was the nice neighborhood but after getting there I realized that there are more reasons to like the place. Location: Very nice neighborhood and close to the freeway Room: Clean and spacious. The bed was really comfy too Staff: I only had to deal with them twice (check-in and out) and they were very professional and welcoming Going back? YES
I'm here now and this place is kinda gross! My room is extremely dirty. Beer bottles and such all over outside. Parking is a joke. The service has been horrible too. Tonight I went to the front desk to ask if they had ice buckets and was told they would send one. Never happened. Housekeeping was very nice but left the cover off one bed and the pillowcase on the desk? So yeah, add to your sleazy list.
Staying at this hotel was a pleasure. We will certainly stay there again. Everyone is always pleasant. The room is always clean, the sheets smell freshly washed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend. When I made our reservations the person I spoke to made sure we received the best rate possible for our stay.
I was checked in by Apu, he was very efficient, friendly and knew what he was doing. The lay out of the place looks like a motel with rooms facing the parking lot. There is a verandah style walkway outside the rooms so when you're in the room you could hear people's conversations etc as they walked past. I did hear some street traffic at night as the hotel is right on the main road but it didn't bother me. They kindly provide earplugs in the room should you need them to accommodate this. Room was very clean and tidy. It looked modern and like it had been updated. Bed was soft but comfortable. There was no microwave but a fridge, iron and ironing board. The parking could get full at night. There was no lift only stairs so if staying on top floor may need to consider that. Outside the rooms smelt of smoke and there some cigarette butts in the car park but I guess people have to smoke somewhere. The room didn't smell of smoke however. I didn't use the pool but it did look very small when I checked it out. Tv was a large size and modern which was great! There was a good selection of channels however could use a few more. It had HBO and Showtime so that was great! It was clean, safe, updated and central to what I was in LA for so I have no complaints with this hotel.
Visited with my husband to sightsee in LA.....on arrival we felt disappointed that it was 'so motel' like, did not feel like a BW plus at all, but it was clean with comfortable beds. The immediate area was bland and it was a drive to the main restaurants in Sherman Oaks.....the main street had some really good restaurants. When sightseeing and visiting main LA you have to be out for the whole day as the traffic and distance was far too great to return to the hotel during the day. Overall I would not stay here again if visiting LA, but saying that for what we paid for the LA area it was ok, but in my opinion, it is better to pay more and stay nearer the action.
Wahed,Apu,and Robert are gentlemen and cooperative. The room was very clean and well Equipped. The hotel is well known to uber and taxi , and has easy access . it is Refreshing in the morning and romantic at night
What a great stay. The rooms were exceptionally clean with VERY comfortable beds & linens. The area was safe as well as the parking lot. (I'm there alone with my 3 young nephews) It was also a very well decorated room with an updated feel to it with plenty of space in both the room itself and bathroom. The staff could not have been friendlier & accommodating. Everyone we spoke to was pleasant. The location is excellent being 7 miles from Universal Studios & only 30-ish minutes if you want to hit Disneyland. The pool is actually quite large & the hot tub felt wonderful after a long day at Universal. You won't be disappointed!!!
The hotel was very nice and perfectly located for our purposes. The room was spacious and clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. We really liked the 'split' bathroom (sink , toilet, and shower in one room; sink and mirror in separate adjacent room). The internet was quite good and free. Only complaint was the bed was too soft for us. I also especially like the 4 cup coffee pot and refrigerator (microwave would have been nice). The lobby had a neat coffee/tea machine 24/7. All in all a very nice hotel.
This hotel/motel is right on Sepulveda, but I was really pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was! Staff was excellent, front desk was so helpful! Only downside for me, was the wifi? Couldn't download my email reliably. Will definitely consider staying here again!
We had room 116, which is a regular room with a king bed. The room is ample sized, and comes with a fridge, plus a second sink outside the bathroom. The major negative is that the door to the bathroom sticks, and is hard to fully open or close. (It's a pocket door.) Also, the freezer inside the fridge doesn't actually freeze. And there's not enough parking; lots of trucks and SUVs parked incorrectly, even blocking access to the lobby. Even so, I'd stay there again.
We went down for my grandpa's funeral service. Took forever to check it. Front desk office and staff not very inviting. When we entered the room wanted to check things out before unloading. Upon looking under beds trash was was found under both beds. And carpets smelled of dog urine. Wore shoes in room. Water pressure went up and down the entire shower never steady and water temp was to hot then cold never steady. 1 conditioner 2 shampoo 1 soap in bathroom. Out dated needs work. Price was way to high for what u get. Had to walk across parking lots to get to the pool. Hot tub jacuzzi pool was hot 1 night not the other also noisy due to road on other side of wall. Would not recommend if u r looking for hospitality and a friendly service. Had to call to front desk and get the WiFi code. Should get while standing around waiting in lobby for service.
Easy check inn, friendly staff. Older hotel, rooms a little small, but very clean and comfortable. Great location, easy on/off the 405. Close to all the amazing restaurants on Ventura Blvd, as well as Universal Studios.
Needed to stay one night for business in Hollywood Hills, so me and 9yr old son chose this place at the last minute. Arrived at 2AM and was not surprised that even on a weeknight, EVERY parking space was taken. This property was not as small as I imagined and they had over 100 parking spaces. Ended parking on street with other cars in front of hotel. Had to walk through parking lot and even though there were people out & about at that hour (it is LA) everything felt secure and well lit The property is right off of freeway and on a busy Blvd. Was able to move car into the lot right near our room the next morning. Room was clean and well stocked (see pics) What made a difference was customer service. I was given a late checkout till 2 pm and that allowed us to swim and go in hot tub. This was a big help since we arrived at 2AM and right back out at 8AM. We could come back and relax before driving back to Sacramento. I am glad I chose this property over the Hampton down the street, in my last several stays at Hampton Inns, even though I am a Hilton Honors member it seems like I'm always being told what they can't do for me (late checkout, paying when I arrive etc) Free coffee in lobby with flavored creams!! In room coffee was Wolfgang Puck brand. Can you tell I like coffee? Unfortunately Denny's next store under construction, but there many places to eat & shop nearby. The Sherman Oaks Gallery is about 10 minutes down the road. They have a movie theatre, Ben & Jerry's, PF Chang's, Cheese Cake Factory and Buffalo Wild Wings. (Which was one of the better BWW I've been too in a while) The Galleria is an open air mall with a great atmosphere to relax in before hitting the Freeway and the restaurants give free parking validation All in all I will be back here again when I'm in the area. Cannot beat the price and location if you are doing business in the area.
Overall I was happy with the hotel. I missed their lack of breakfast and there were occasional issues with the elevator but that wasn't a real issue. The housekeeping staff was excellent and efficient.
Nice hotel about 10 minutes from Universal (with no traffic). The rooms are good size and has a very nice pool. We took a group home and staff/family to a Universal trip and we were able to get all the rooms close together. The only down side is there is a Denny's on site, but it was closed for renovations.
Nice Location, I liked that they had 2 sinks in the King room. That helped us get ready faster. It was a family visit to Universal Studio. It was a Quick 1 night stay. Parking felt as if it was limited but the rooms wear nice clean and easy access.
This is a very nice hotel. Clean, comfortable beds, well kept site and rooms, friendly staff, free coffee, water and newspapers. Laundry facility, swimming pool and jacuzzi. Near the 405 and 101. Great for business, couples and families. The Denny's that is next door is under renovation. Target nearby with Starbucks inside. Gas station on the corner. Close to entertainment. AAA rated.
I've just returned and I'm sorry I didn't plan to stay longer! Clean, safe, convenient to absolutely everywhere with easy access to the 405 and the 101. Staff is friendly and helpful with special kudos to Sonny Thongson who greeted us at the door as our driver pulled up and was always there to answer questions and to help with the smallest of problems, like where to get good take-out when we were too tired from travel to consider going anywhere. The man deserves a promotion! It's down the street and around the corner from Ventura Blvd. with lots of great places to eat and shop. I can't wait to return!
We used this hotel as a base to see universal studios and all the LA must sees. Great location right beside the motorway. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities that you require during your stay. Pool was well kept and we used it often during the hot August heat. Right next store to Denny's, so handy for breakfast and dinner as needed. Staff were very friendly
overall stay was very good, clean rooms and quiet, staff friendly and helpful, would recommend this hotel to friends and family. only issue is the rooms had no microwaves to reheat take out food if necessary
We have never had any problems when we have stayed at Best Western. This Best Western is one of the best we have stayed at. The rooms was very clean and comfortable. The sheets smelled freshly washed. We will certainly stay at this one again.
Excellent value at reasonable price. Clean, friendly staff, prompt resolution of any maintenance issues, excellent management. Some frustration over maid service but certainly an A for effort. Overall one would be hard pressed to find a hotel in this area at this value for money. Highly recommended.
Pro's: - Good amenities, facilities. - Clean rooms Cons: - Terribly noisy - Homeless roaming the parking lot, not really a secure feeling. One also tried to scam us. - Parking lot with Denny's. This Denny's was closed for renovation. However if it opens again, there will probably not be enough parking spaces. This hotel does a good job concerning the amenities and cleanliness in the room. Nothing wrong with that. Also it has good facilities available, e.g. swimming pool and ice machine, but this is not a hotel you want if you are looking for a place to relax. The main reason is the lack of insulation of the room: the hotel is closed in by the San Diego Freeway 405 and the Sepulveda Boulevard. Especially the Sepulveda Boulevard is a very very noisy through street. The hotel could have tried to counter this problem by placing insulating doors and windows. Unfortunately that is not what was done. The pool area is also very noisy because of that and not a relaxing and experience. This hotel could be quite great actually if the rooms were insulated better.
Stayed on two occasions in September (one night and a two night stay) and found the location to be perfect for our needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Be aware that Sepulveda Blvd is very busy and at times sounded like a race track. However, if you are particular about noise, let the staff know and they will secure a more peaceful room for you. Request for a room in their 3-storey tower away from Sepulveda; we got 516 which was perfect! Also be aware that Denny's is closed for renovations. Also, parking will be an issue if you check in late. We will come back to this hotel on our next visit to SoCal.
This was a quick trip to go and pick up our new dog. We stopped here because it is close to Universal Studios. A great value, a nice hotel and very nice people. Clean rooms greeted us and it was a quiet and pleasant experience. It was also nice to have a refrigerator in the room for our little girl!
We came last March and was completely impressed with the great service. Sonny in the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. They had well kept areas and very comfortable accommodations in the room. Their grounds keep, Ramon, was visible at most times and made sure the pool and hot tub areas were in tip top shape and even made his rounds at the lot to make sure the cars were secure. There's a Denny's conveniently located in front that does room service. They are a few minutes away from the major highways making it convenient for any commute. All in all, with the delightful staff and well kept and cozy setting, this place is a must when you're stopping by the area!!!
I am happy to say the check in staff was WONDERFUL! We walked down to Target and than had a light bite to eat at the Denny's on property. We loved the room and the ease getting in and out of the property.
Room is well above average. Extremely clean. Nothing in the rooms looks abused. Park right outside your door. The staff really is there to accommodate its guests. Grounds are safe to walk. Especially like that the hotel is on a busy thoroughfair yet one would not know it by the quiet within the grounds. The afternoon-evening front desk supervisior, Sonny, is extremely accommodating. Will go out of his way to make his guests stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you Sonny!
The location is great just off Highway 101 but still in a bustling area. Rooms are spacious and clean. No luxuries, but adequate. Fridge in room. No breakfast was included, but the hotell sits door to door with a Dennys so I guess that's how they work that out. A discount for hotel guests would have been nice but that's beside the point here. Check-in staff were friendly but a little slow and they didn't fully understand my fairly simple questions until I explained more. Communication skills could be improved here. I would stay here again though.
Having to book a hotel on very short notice, we were not sure what to expect. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, offering free refreshments, which could be accessed at any time. Our room was very clean, big, comfortable and overall great value for money. We stayed for 2 nights, the only noise you may hear is the odd emergency vehicle, however you can get that anywhere. There is a Denny's attached, which offers room service if you want it, very reasonable food at standard cost. There is a vending area that is accessible with a room key, I wouldn't feel too safe using it at night though. All in all, a great stay and would recommend to anyone.
Clean hotel, comfortable beds. Reception was being upgraded when we arrived so had a makeshift reception in a room. Location wasn't great as we didnt have a car so the only option to eat was at Denny's! If we had a car it would have been fine though. Nice pool.
We needed a place close to Cedars-Sinai, for a couple of days, but didn't want to pay Beverly Hills prices, so we looked 15 min. away, and found the Best Western Plus Carriage Inn. It is motel style with another building added on. We were in the newer building, and the room was very new looking. The whole grounds were well kept, and looked nice. There is a Denny's on the property, which will do in a pinch, and they do room service, at some of the lowest prices I have ever seen for that service. The staff were friendly and helpful, with housekeeping doing a good job. If you need to stay in this area, I highly recommend the value and experience at this hotel.
We went to Universal Studios in Los Angeles found this great Best Western Plus Hotel in Sherman Oaks! We had a late check in and he staff was great, nice and friendly. The room was Clean and the bed was very comfy. It was only a 15 minute drive from the Universal Studios. Very affordable especially with family of 6. Liked that the check out was at (12) noon. It gave us time to sleep in and recuperate from the fun of the previous day. It has a Denny's located right next door so very convenient for breakfast. Was a little bummed that they didn't have the 10% discount for breakfast like they had 3 years ago. Overall stay was nice. I also like that they didn't charge a resort fee or parking fee like so many others nowadays.
I give it a 95? for its class of hotel. I'll definitely be back! Property and rooms are well kept and service is very pleasant. Rooms are insulated enough to drown out traffic noise of Sepulveda Blvd.
The Carriage is on a very busy street and close to a freeway. My fear was that the noise of all the traffic would have a negative effect on my stay. On my several stays with the hotel, I have no negative experiences. The front desk people are welcoming and accommodating. This is a modest hotel that is very well maintained. The rooms are nicely done and very clean. I don't use the additional facilities, but I note that they seem to be well used. The location is convenient for all the appointments I needed to cover. I will use the hotel for all the visits I make to that area of Los Angeles.
Whilst on a west coast tour with my daughter, this hotel proved to be an excellent base to explore LA. Even though it is quite near the freeway, the hotel was very quiet, there are shops nearby and all the facilities were more than satisfactory with very friendly and helpful staff.
The rrom we had was right on the street side with a major traffic 24 hrs. They offer ear plugs to help you sleep. When I checked out, they added $25.00 to the bill called"Occupancy Tax". None of this information was given at the time of making the reservation or at the time of checking in. Not a great way to get returning customers.
An ok hotel for who wants not to be in the city, although everything is quite a ride because of distance and traffic. Not many opportunities to eat. Starbucks on Burbank and van Nuys, which offers good coffee and a fine breakfast!
For the price it was clean and up to date very comfortable and worth the value. Better looking and more up to date than most Best Western Inn and we were really surprised and happy with this location. Parking was a little packed but we were able to find a place around our room.
Great hotel just off Hwy 101. Safe neighborhood, clean rooms, excellent staff, nice pool, plenty of parking, good vending and laundry available, good wifi, comfortable beds. No breakfast provided by Denny's is attached. Target is just 2 blocks up the road. Loved our stay here.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Why? What hotel has more rooms than parking spaces? This one does! This hotel is old and shares a parking lot with a Denny's restaurant. If you're paying for a room at a hotel or motel you should also be able to park in their parking lot, right? Not at this place. They don't have enough parking spaces at the hotel and to make matters worse they share the parking lot with a Denny's restaurant. As a result I was forced to park my car on the very busy Sepulveda street. Ok fine, no biggie I guess, right? Wrong! My car got hit by another car the next day because it was parked on the street. Luckily the person who hit my car was honest and left their information on my wind shield so they offered to pay for the damages but if this hotel had enough parking spaces for every room in the first place, I doubt I would have this problem. In addition, majority of the parking spaces are for compact cars. That's great if you're driving a compact but if you're driving a SUV or van like I was, forget about it! The spaces are so small it's literally impossible to park your car. Well you can park but you're going to have to get out of your car through the trunk because there literally is no space to get out once you've parked. Don't stay here!
The hotel is located in a decent neighborhood with some nice conveniences nearby. Parking lot is a little small, but at least they don't charge for parking . Close to UCLA and other tourist locations.
Very noisy and the bed was hard as a rock! Because of the remodel, there was no breakfast available. The A/C didn't work very well and I could hear the full conversations of the people in the next room.
We checked in on a Saturday afternoon with no problems and were given a first floor room with a king , updated interior, nice tv, refrigerator and safe. Problems- not enough parking for all the hotel visitors, door into room has big gap that kept room lit up from hallway light all night, couldn't flush toilet when shower was going ,and hair dryer did not operate well . They have Keureg coffee machine in room but you have to use the water bottles in the room to use it. They do not have breakfast because Denny's is part of property. We went to see soccer game in Carson and returned after midnight to find no parking. We were one of four cars hunting for spots in a full lot. Had to park up against dumpsters over night. Property backs right up to 405 freeway and I'm sure you can hear it on second floor. We heard nothing from our first floor room adjacent to 405 sound wall. We will not stay at this property ever again , might ok if you have a motorcycle
The renovations were in no way a problem or an influence on my stay. However, the fact that there was no elevator to the 2nd floor on one side of the hotel (where my room was located) I was forced to drag my heavy suitcases up the stairs and down again when I checked out. No help was offered at any point. There was an elevator on the other side that was not connected to this building. The first room they gave me smelled awful. Smoke, must, just nasty. I was then given another room and this one was filthy. Housekeeping clearly hadn't cleaned the room. The garbage cans were full, sheets dirty and left over food on the floor in the closet. At 3 in the morning, I witnessed a drug deal in the parking lot and that was the final straw. My credit card was also billed for charges exceeding the amount that should have been; therefore locking my available credit for my Disneyland trip with my 7 year old and 11 year old. I still need to check and see if the amount over was ever released. I checked out a day early because our stay was obviously one of the worst especially for the money.
Stayed here quite a few times and always have a fast check in with kind very professional staff Sonny T. night supervisor, This hotel was spotless, the service was excellent and with a grate price. Rooms are spacious and very very clean. We highly recommend this hotel. The rating of this hotel is unbeatable.
Clean and comfortable, nice room. No elevators, lobby/reception area was under construction; check in staff did not mention breakfast amenities - if available, we missed it. When booking as a package with Universal Studios, I thought they mentioned a hot tub or spa (was none). Originally booking listed a price lower for over 55 yrs, ($149) but hotel raised price $5, even though they assured me we "had the senior discount." Couldn't prove it, so didn't argue.
After doing some research and hotel searching, my girlfriends and I opted to stay here this past weekend during our mini getaway. I am so happy we selected this hotel. Not only did we get a great deal in comparison to the other neighboring locations, but we were central to a lot of the big destinations in our area. We were about 20min away from Hollywood and Santa Barbara. Despite the lobby renovation going on, we were still able to quickly check in and out. The room was a lot more spacious than I expected. There was a good sized bathroom and an extra sink and mirror right outside the bathroom. Plus there were another 2 full sized mirrors in the room which made it extra convenient, since we had 3 females getting ready at the same time. The king size bed was EXTREMELY comfortable and big enough for the 3 of us. There was a nice TV and good sized working fridge we completely stocked up. I appreciated the cleanliness of the room and property. The room was very well lit, and no complaints about the air conditioning unit. The parking is spacious and abundant. There's enough parking to park directly outside your unit, which is super helpful when loading and unloading luggage. There is a pool and gym on the property as well. There is also a Denny's restaurant on the property, but we were unable to try it out since the wait was a bit long. I did, however, miss the continental breakfast option other hotel locations have offered. I would have otherwise given my review 5 stars. I will definitely be bringing my family to stay here again during our next visit. Thank you BW!!
This little hotel has all you need for a comfortable stay and nights sleep, in the heart of the San Fernando valley. It's close to the 405 and 101, pet friendly, and the beds and sheets are very comfortable. The reception staff was very accommodating and took great care to make sure we got the rooms we needed for our whole family. I'd highly recommend this hotel.
We were staying there for one night only. Even though I work at the reception, I can tell if if was ok or not. Rooms were clean, but some parts were too old and it need some upgrade, like bathroom doors, knobs, old curtains. Staff was just okay. We asked for a help, touristic attraction and lady from the reception couldnt help us. She tried to google smth over we already tried. At least, we had a free phone call from the reception. Which reminds me that upon our arrival they couldnt find us in the system. We booked two rooms, but they had only one double. Later, logined thru booking.com they found our right reservation and gave us two rooms next to each other. Location is ok, since we were looking for something close to the Universal studios and parking is free. Thumbs up
Arrived at the property at 3pm to find that the lobby was under renovation and more than half of the parking lot was being repaved. They did not have a room ready for us and told us to come back in half an hour. I asked about the parking situation and was told that the parking lot would be open by 8pm, 9pm "at the very latest" and parking wouldn't be an issue. When we got our room it was located in the far back corner -- usually not a problem, but because of the parking situation we had to carry everything from one end of the property to the other. The room was clean, but in need of an update, and it had a strange musty odor. We went to get dinner and when we returned there was literally no where to park - not one single spot. I stopped and asked an employee if they had any suggestions and was told to park across the street. Keep in mind that the property is located on Sepulveda which is a very large, busy road, and it was getting dark.Ultimately, the manager gave me his parking spot which I appreciated. (The parking lot didn't open until the next day.) We left early the next morning for Universal Studios, and decided to drive straight home from there because we weren't interested in dealing with the continued chaos of the property. I feel that guests should have been notified about the renovations prior to arrival, especially at nearly $200/night.
This was a hidden gem, courtyard was awesome rooms clean comfortable. Even thou they were remodeling the stay was great. They were conveniently located and there is a Denny's right there for an easy breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful just can't say enough good things about our stay.
We live in the Bay Area and the price of hotels there for a 3-5 star out of 5 star rating hotels are cheaper than here. The hotel room we had was hard to give a good rating to because the odor in the room was horrendous (it smelt like cigarette odor that someone tried to cover up but didn't succeed). It was late when we checked in so we were too tired to report it. Parking was terrible. Limited handicap parking.
Lovely hotel, have stayed several times, never disappointed. Large rooms, bonus having the sink in the bathroom for privacy. Wifi worked well and very clean. Ate breakfast at Denny's which is always good.
This BW is right off the 10 , but there is absolutely no highway noise. Our King bedded room was very comfortable, plus we loved that we could store our beverages in the Fridge for our outings. There is a sink, shower and toilet in one room, and another sink right outside the bathroom. We women love having that extra space for getting ready. They also had Wolfgang Puck coffee for their coffee makers. This was actually decent in room coffee and they had lots of sugar, creamer, sweetners and Lipton as well. We were in room 115 on the first floor in a quiet back corner. There was a patio table and chairs. We would have a glass of wine and snacks before heading out for our evening. The staff was so accommodating and helpful. There is a Dennys attached for quick, simple eats, but a couple miles up the road on Ventura Blvd. there is a plethora of amazing food choices . We enjoyed Blue Jam Cafe and Cafe Marmalade for brunches, and Cafe Bizou (French) was really lovely. The staff was so attentive and the food was delish. This location was a 15 minute drive to Universal Studios and it took us about 45 minutes to get to Santa Monica Beach. This is a fabulous location if you have your own vehicle.
Friendly staff, great room, conveniently located, felt very safe, the beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and well furnished. I would without hesitation recommend this hotel. The pool and spa were a little on the dated side, but not bad.
Showed up after the 3pm check in time with my dogs and ton of things in the car and was told room isn't ready for another hour because the last guest requested late check out. Maybe you should make sure you have rooms available at the check in time stated on the website before you allow people to check out late. Great start to a week stay at the hotel. Definitely not going to recommend to anyone or book again. If I had any other option I would have cancelled my reservation on the spot.
We arrived late in the evening so parking was very limited. We ended up parking on the opposite side of the property from our room. This made luggage handling a bit inconvenient. The main lobby was was being remodeled so the registration was in a room nearby. They were so nice to offer us bottled water when we were checking in. It was a very hot evening. The room was clean and roomy. Our room was right next to a Main Street. We noticed that they left earplugs for our convenience although noise was not an issue. The a/c was cold but good. The room had a refrigerator which we used. The beds were very comfortable. We were very happy with our room. Thank you Carriage Inn!
We stayed at this BWP Carriage Inn recently and were totally disappointed, especially since we paid a premium to stay there. We booked our first night through a travel website which advertised it as having free breakfast (which we specifically wanted)... when we got there, we were informed that it did not (something which they must get asked regularly because it was first thing the front desk told me about the place). Our second night we booked through the place directly and it was crazy expensive. We were placed on the ground floor with an outside entrance. There was a big gap in the door which didn't make us feel very safe. When we returned from a long day at Universal Studios late in the evening, we discovered that there were no parking spaces anywhere near our room and were lucky to find 1, single open space at the Denny's on the opposite end of the property. It was not fun having to walk/carry our sleepy kids all the way across the property to our room. Bathroom was terrible and inconveniently laid out and we didn't feel the room was clean but we were tired and had to deal with it. The only plus is that the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Not sure why this place charges a premium price because it didn't really have much to offer. Feel like our money was wasted.
Spa was the greatest place to relax, but be careful about the heat. The fact that the pool and the spa were separate really made the area nice. No kids running in and out of the spa. Not much seating around the area for a break from the spa though so sitting on the edge of the spa is something you like then great.
Had a great stay, only thing is I didn't know this property was motel style with the doors outside. When I found this out, I wanted to be on the second floor but they have no elevators. It can be a bit noisy.
Everything went smoothly with checking in. I booked two rooms. One room the fridge did not working even after adjusting the settings. Although the water pressure was erratic. No water would come out and then a burst of water flow. The hotel is on a main street and you can hear the street noise.
Have stayed here several times in the past two years. It is very well maintained and convenient to I-405 and the 101 freeway. Seems to be nearly always fully booked. If you are not used to LA traffic be aware that morning rush hour traffic on the above is intense so an earlier or later departure may save time.
We went the week schools got out and stayed here because it was relatively close to Universal Studios (maybe 20 min by car in traffic). The hotel was pretty full so I didn't have a choice of too many rooms. The one we did pick was on Selpuveda, and that is one noisy street. So next time I would go with a different room but overall I liked the hotel.
Great service, staff are very efficient and friendly. I have actually recommended other Best Western hotels send their staff to the Carriage Inn for training. Very comfortable beds, nice pool and hottub. Wish they included a microwave but it seems typical of Best Western hotels with an attached restaurant to not provide this service.
Nice, clean, good price, and friendly place to transport to LAX. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub at night and watched the planes coming/going. Good breakfast and bus shuttle. I like suites when traveling with family, plenty of room, and refreg to put our snacks in for the plane. We'll stay here again! Good parking for family when dropping/picking you up.
Best value for a quality motel without the high priced others in the area. The service is reflected on all shifts on every trip that I have taken in the last 3 years here on business. You also can get Denny's meals delivered to your room at menu prices without a service charge. I stay nowhere else whenever I travel to Southern California
hotel was very nice (well maintained and neat), staff was courteous and helpful; parking lot was a little tight, but at least parking was free, location was convenient although a bit noisy with traffic
This is a clean, well kept facility and perfect location for us to visit family. A Denny's is close by for breakfast, coffee maker in room. Comfortable bed, very quiet for being so close to the traffic. Have stayed in the past and will stay again when we come to Van Nuys area.
I enjoyed staying here at the Best Western Carriage Inn in Sherman Oaks, CA. Upon arrival, we got got a free upgrade from a queen be to a king bed which was awesome. The room was nice and comfy. Air conditioner was great as well. I recommend to all. No free breakfast but there was a Denny's on the property.
Stayed here with my family, and I couldn't be happier with my stay. Super clean spacious rooms and extra friendly staff. Loved every minute of my stay. Super convenient location by the 405 and free breakfast with our stay at Denny's! Thank you Eric for everything during our stay :)
Clean and great customer service. We stayed there for a Baseball tournament and it was great for the other kids as well. If you are in the Sherman Oaks area due yourself a favor and stay there with your family.
Came to this hotel when we spent the a week in Los Angeles. Was only about 15 minutes from Universal and fairly close to Hollywood. Recommend this hotel to everyone. Only downside is there is no breakfast! but there is a Dennys.
Nearly every Best Western I have stayed at provided a breakfast of some type. Unfortunately, this property does not, other than coffee or tea, and perhaps a pastry, from a counter in the small lobby. There is a Denny's next door, and for a few $ more you can have a decent breakfast. Otherwise the place is clean, quiet and well maintained. There were no problems whatsoever with my room. I can't help but think though that for about the same room rate I could stay at a place where breakfast is included. That's my two cents.
We moved to this hotel after staying at the Hotel California in Santa Monica. We moved as we found Hotel California quite noisy but couldn't afford to stay within Santa Monica itself. The switch was great! Completely different vibe in this area, but these are the things I can comment on: Super comfortable beds Updated rooms Outdoor pool- super clean Looks like a motel outside but great inside Attached to a Denny's 10 minute walk from Target A few restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, movie theater and an Asian cuisine) within a 20 minute fast paced walk Friendly staff The only drawback is it's far from amenities such as a coffee shop, bakery, cafe etc. However there is a Starbucks in Target!!!
Two days ago, I was there with my family for business trip. There have good stuff, friendly crew and very clean everything. The coffee was really great in registration! Convenient locations! Very close nice restaurants and well-liked stores. I would expect to be able to get free breakfast in room cost:) but there is still good enough.
The room was a very pleasant surprise as it was very modern and new. Staff was outstanding. Not a single complaint from me about this property. Some other reviews mentioned the traffic noise. We did not experience any of that at all although we were right in front.
The whole experience was easy and pleasent. Staff was great. Bed was a little uncomfortable. For our purposes a handy location.Resteraunt attached was quite nice because there was nothing else close by. Typical Dennys fare but served in a quick friendly manner.
We stayed here for my Daughter's graduation from CSUN. While a bit of a trek, it fit our needs entirely. The rate was very reasonable and the staff was very professional. The only issue we ran into was parking later at night.....
I never knew this hotel was in the area, but it was recommended by the folks holding an event I was attending. What nice little treasure here. Right next to the freeway, but you can't hear it. upon check in we receive vouchers for the breakfast at the Denny's next door. The room was nice and clean and everything worked. The only negative that I saw was the parking is tight and the bed was a bit to soft for me. Outside of that, it was good place to get a nice night of sleep.
We stayed at this Inn because it was close to an event we were attending and it also had a good price. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean. Unfortunately it was too cold to use the pool, but I would stay there again.
Hotel was very nice for the price. The staff is very nice to work with and provides great assistance with directions and items as needed. I would have preferred softer bedding for top comforter. Overall, stay was good. This was our second time at this hotel. The location is good to Warner Bros and 20-30 minute drive to most tourist attractions. Denny's restaurant is a good plus to have next door.
Couldn't be more satisfied with service! The staff is great and very professional- speedy check-in! love it!! Have been staying there for over 12 years on business trip and the hospitality just keeps getting better! thank you Anthony and Eric.
My stay was great except on last day of stay I was informed there was a particular smoking area which I stated in my reservation I wanted to be right next to if there was one. Which there was and I? was put far from it and I can not walk very well.
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is a good hotel value. Pool was good hot tub was good. I was impressed with the service. The rooms are a little dated but clean and comfortable. Traffic is a little noisy but I slept fine. After stay I will stay here instead of the holiday inn express up the road in Van Nuys. Close to universal studios but if you are driving take surface streets to the 170 then to Universal studios.
I really liked this hotel very good customer service. Rooms were clean. it was a little noisy with traffic but still a good choice and good value. It has a great location for Universal Studios and although the Hotel is located on a street with traffic noise still a great hotel.
We needed a place convenient to the Getty museum, that was pet friendly. Good things...clean, quiet, pet friendly, staff was very helpful, ample parking, restaurant next door, great coffee in the lobby. Bad things? Can't think of any...oh, I plugged the toilet, and they were more than happy to send maintenance, however I asked for a plunger, and they gave it to me...all done. Oh, and while waiting for the plunger, I read the free newspaper and had another cup of great coffee. Thank you, Carriage Inn.
The place is off a busy highway/road. Our room is great - spacious with a good TV, great beds, a fridge, and a coffee machine. It is loud (traffic), but the hotel kindly provides ear plugs. What bothers me is that the fitness centre is closed for maintenance. That is fine - BUT SAY SO ON THE WEBSITE. We specifically booked this hotel because it had a gym. We get there - no gym. That really annoys me. In these cases, the hotel should provide guests with access to a nearby gym. I am training for a marathon and hate to miss a workout. Indeed, it is so important to me that I booked a hotel with a gym! So I am not impressed. Otherwise, the place is great. I would recommend it for a night stay.
When visiting Universal Studios or the north part of L.A., you will find many expensive options for hotels/motels. Some of them look okay, on paper, but you discover Hollywood "magic" has made them appear more appealing in the photos than in person. In general, we have been very happy with BW, but this is a nice motel site that is well-staffed and comfortable. Now, Carriage Inn is our affordable go-to in Hollywood.
We enjoyed staying here. It was close to many restaurants. Parking gets a little tricky at night. The neighborhood was very safe. It was a little noisy being close to the freeway. The rooms were clean.
Rooms were very clean and spacious for our family of four. Convenient location near freeways with easy on/off. As such, expect some white noise from nearby traffic and bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to such things. Short drive down the freeway to Hollywood, Universal Studios, and other attractions. If you have a larger vehicle(big SUV or minivan) the perimeter spaces are larger than the central ones.
I've found Best Westerns are best out west. Not trying to be catchy but being from the east, it's true. This location is a good stay, it has some baked in appeal and I would visit again if my job calls me back to the Van Nuys area. With the proper expectations this hotel should be a great recommendation. It's a good option for travelling on a budget. The good: -staff, all very helpful, courteous and professional. -location, close to the freeway and the bonanza of restaurants down on Ventura Drive. -clean rooms, comfy bed and an appealing facade from a bygone era. -Denny's on site for breakfast. The not good: -the parking lot is crowded, with tight spaces -noise: there is a noticeable background of traffic from the freeway and just cars in the parking lot. -rooms, there's a limit to how nice a motor Lodge room can be dressed up, and they've reached it here. My connecting room gave me an unwanted eavesdropping into the plots and plans of two women who began to sound like Thelma and Louise to me.
We had a nice stay at this hotel with a comfortable bed and a quiet room even though it is close to an interstate highway. The Keurig coffee maker was great and the attached Dennys very convenient. We would stay here again.
The rooms are clean and large, the internet service is great, the location is EXCEPTIONAL, the price is reasonable, and it's a good deal/great value. What more can you want for a short stay? I was traveling solo and wanted to be close to lot of L.A. attractions and have quick access to the freeway (both 405 and 101). This hotel fills the bill!
Hotel was nice looking, clean and staff was professional. Knowing that the hotel was at the corner of an off-ramp from the freeway we thought that the rooms would be sound proofed better. When we walked in and saw ear plugs on the nightstand we knew we were going to be in for a rough night. We didn't completely understand the loudness of the trucks on the freeway and how they could actually shake the building, the cars with boom boxes could be heard as if we were standing on the corner, and the frequency of the emergency vehicles racing by. Needless to say our night was rough...there was no sleeping.
The hotel was decent and the rooms were clean. There was was not a lot of parking available. In addition, breakfast was advertised on the website but it was not offered. Overall, the stay was good, and the staff was very friendly.
In trial in Van Nuys, I needed a nearby hotel, and Carraige Inn in Sherman Oaks fit all of my needs. My room was spacious and had a wide window. The desk was large and had plenty of outlets, and a 24-hour Denny's was right next door. One pleasant outdoor design feature was a vertical garden. Nice pool, too. The staff was especially helpful when I needed to store my printer for a few extra days.
We booked 2 rooms with 2 queen sized beds each for 9 days. Our rooms were satisfactory, basic drive inn that looks good outside. Beds were good but the carpet was dirty. The doors had big gaps below so you would hear people outside the room. Windows could be better (noise). Amenities were substantial. The one biggest drawback was the lack of security INSIDE the room. Our daughter left her iphone 5s(with a red mophie pack attached) on the table and when we came back, the phone was nowhere to be found. She reported to the housekeeper, their supervisor and to the front desk but was just given a go around. I presume they wanted to play down the incident for them not to look bad. My daughter cried for a couple of days ruining our vacation. We'd certainly understand if the phone was lost outside the room but inside?? This is certainly not the best western hospitality we were accustomed to. When I reported it again at the front desk, another complainant was there. By the way, its a non smoking hotel but we smelled smoke inside our room although it stopped after i reported it to the front desk. How they got 4 star rating got us dumbfounded. If you don't mind noise and lack of security, it will provide the accommodation you need.
Centrally located with spacious updated amenities .Convienate room service from the adjoining Dennys café. My favorite place to stay in the San Fernando Valley. Good value for money. Book early as they are generally full
Thank you for goung above and beyond--trustworthy, professional, efficient and made it enjoyable even though i was away on business THANK YOU!!! (I had left a kendall without realizing and the staff were able to track me down, have it shipped and were SO nice and competent...very much appreciated!
We basically blind booked this but we were very happy with our choice after arriving. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The staff at reception were very helpful whenever we had a question. It was also well situated for our day trips in and around LA, particularly if you're looking to go north to Santa Barbara or Malibu. The Denny's next to the hotel served as a great starting point for breakfast or dinner after coming back late. If you're a visitor to the US, this place is great for some classic American diner food. With regard to a few of the criticisms in some other reviews of this motel, our room was 100% clean and bug free, there were no situations where I felt unsafe (there are occasionally homeless people passing by but by no means an unusual occurrence for LA), and while the hotel is next to a freeway, the noise is not typically beyond white noise levels. Fantastic value for money and would definitely recommend.
No complaints. Decent for the money. Clean. Decent size rooms. Pool is small but serves its purpose. Would definitely stay again. Parking is a lil scarce but other than that we really enjoyed our stay.
This hotel was in a great location for me, it's not the best looking property but it was fine. They do not have breakfast there and the Denny's attached to the property is a typical Denny's (in other words, the legendary slow service is in place) but the Sherman Oaks Galleria is just a mile away. The room overall was okay for a single business traveler, I probably do not recommend for a family.
After spending all day in central LA, we decided to try and find a room for the night at the last minute for our family of 4. Needless to say, we weren't having much luck. Since we were heading north the next day, we decided to look for a room in that direction. The gentleman that answered the phone confirmed they had a room available with two double beds and that he would hold it for us.... didn't even need to provide anything but my name. Arriving at night, we couldn't see much of the surrounding neighborhood, but it didn't seem all that sketchy. The property itself looks modern and clean, putting our minds somewhat at ease about cold-calling a hotel for a room at the last minute. The clerk was very personable and got us checked in quickly. Our room was clean and comfortable, and appeared to have been renovated within the last few years. Beds were comfortable, and street noise was minimal but noticeable. I would likely stay here again if I needed to. My only complaint is the price...... we stayed on a Wednesday night, and it still cost us $225 (including taxes). At any other place, this room wouldn't have cost more than $125.
I read the reviews and the negative ones are FALSE! This place is Amazing... Clean rooms, and the staff members Justin and Karo went over the top to give me and my family the Best Hospitality! i will stay here again and again.. This is LA you will have some noise but, that expected. The bed are compfy and the shower was clean. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!!
The Carriage inn is a comfortable spot to spend a day or two when in the west valley. The rooms are nicely done and very clean. Within a mile is Ventura Blvd and all the shops and restaurants you could want.
Staff was friendly and extremely interested in making certain my stay was pleasant and enjoyable and immediately responded to my requests. Very well run and pleasure to stay at every time I am in Sherman Oaks.
Nothing special about the motel. Neither great nor poor. Check in service extremely slow. Biggest complaint was no free breakfast. Only a Denny's on location. The breakfast is one thing I really appreciate about BW. It cuts down cost of travel considerably.
Best Western Plus is always my #1 choice whenever I go away from home. The room, the service, the environment, the breakfast, and so many more good things are great. Wish three would be more pet friendly hotels so that I can check in easily with my beloved dog every where I go. Keep up the good works.
Going to performance at UCLA and wanted a place to stay north if the campus for an early get away. This place was fine, but unlike some BW+ it does not serve breakfast. There is an older Denny on site but not what we were looking for. On the whole a good place for a short stay.
Horrible hotel. If you are a light sleeper then we would not recommend this hotel because the traffic is too loud. All night you hear loud traffic. Unfortunately, someone's car alarm continue going off and on which made it noise level even worse. I did not sleep at all which made my last stay in LA a fog.
We were spending the night at this hotel the night before my daughter's surgery at SCOI. The staff was very nice and helpful too. I had to print an email to sign and then they scanned and emailed it back to me so that we could complete all of the paperwork for the procedure. Very pleased with this spot!
The hotel was very nice. The street noise was loud and there were loud sirens for some kind of emergency. Other than that, the quality was good and the staff was very friendly. It was nice having a Dennys right on the property.
This Best Western was in the process of changing out the mattresses. We had a king with a new mattress. Extremely comfortable. The location was good. Very easy to find. Denny's in the complex. There was a heated pool and towels were provided for the guests.
Not bad "mid range" motel. Parking is woefully inadequate, but rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. I think a tad overpriced for what you get. Same price in Vegas would get you a LUXURY SUITE! For the area, not bad at all though.
I wish there was a rating in between average and very good. It's good but way overpriced for the type of property. The room was clean and comfortable but the doors are outside and therefore it is a bit noisy. The check in was very friendly and easy. My biggest concern was the bed foot throw. Suspicious looking stains...
the rooms were very clean, nicely sized, but when push comes to shove the Los Alamitos Best Western, is more welcoming, more amenities are offered(Free full breakfast, a suite that can sleep 6 for $149.00 VS (2) rooms that sleep 5 for 159.00 each)
For years, we have stayed at the Best Western Carriage Inn approximately every 3 months. It's like coming home: accommodations are beautifully appointed, the location provides easy access to anywhere in the San Fernando Valley and, despite heavy local traffic, access to Hollywood and even UCLA. One feels totally safe staying here.
The room was below average -the bed was like sleeping on a rock with deflated mini-pillows. The noise from the street was unbearable even with the earplugs they provided. The neighboring guest rooms were occupied by people who were drinking and smoking cigarettes and marijuana. The restaurant was poorly staffed -while pleasant, it should not take 45 minutes to get a sandwich.
This is a big operation that is situated right off the freeway. The rooms are clean, the bathroom is adequate and the service is friendly. Try to get there early, the parking spaces fill up. Avoid the Denny's next door. The service was glacial.
The carpet on the passage was really dirty, I was a little scare to find the room that way but everything was clean inside the room, my wife and I stayed just for one night and overall was good for the price.
Excellent staff and service. The property was much nicer than I expected, and great location. The decor made it feel like we were on a tropical vacation. We would surely stay there again on our next trip to Los Angeles.
Located in the San Fernando Valley with every thing you need for a good business or pleasure trip.A Dennys café is on the premises and supplies fast and good food at good prices with room service without a surcharge. A very good value for money
Nice property, good location, good service. Robert at the front desk is the "rain maker", the glue that keeps this property and customers returning for another stay. Primary issue is parking, not enough parking spaces for all the rooms. You may end up parking in reserved, handicapped or on street parking when you stay here.
everything was outstanding...staff very welcoming, room size was bigger than regular hotel rooms, very quiet atmosphere, extremely clean pool/spa and surroundings. Denny;s restaurant literally a few steps away and bus stop right next to the hotel.
I often stay at this Best Western when in Sherman Oaks for business. It's conveniently located near major freeways and local streets, easy in and out access, rooms are clean and functional, and the staff is friendly.
This large motel at Burbank Blvd. and the 405 has spacious, updated rooms. The motel has quite a bit of parking, though the lot always seemed full and it wasn't easy to park near out room. Overall, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Our room even offered two sinks in the bathroom area. Most Best Western Plus motels that we've stayed at offer a very good breakfast, but this one has a Denny's on the property, so you pay for breakfast and have to settle for Denny's or go somewhere else. The cost of the stay, however, was economical, so that's helps. Overall, we will stay here again since the property really has no drawbacks.
I paid the points equivalent to $170 a night for this room. Early check in was not an option. When I told the front desk my 9lb dog would be staying the night with me everything changed. He said my room would not be available until after 3pm. So you mean I can't even check in at the listed check in time now? I felt I was being penalized for having a pet. After my friend stepped in suddenly a room was available immediately. The room we were given was on the first floor (fine) in the far right corner of the building. We woke up to a homeless person rummaging by our window. Wall paper was peeling from the walls. I've stayed in finer establishments with my dog, and have being treated with far more courtesy. If you have a pet you will be given the worst room and treated like a second class citizen!
Very clean rooms Front desk staff were very knowledgeable and helpful The housekeeping staff were efficient, friendly and were fast in providing hotel supplies when required Being at the location we were was far enough from heavy traffic of LA but close enough to connect with the various freeways we needed to take I would recommend this place to anyone going to Los Angeles
my first destination on a 3 month trip to north America , warm welcome , nice rooms , they also had a dennys attached to the hotel which was convenient , overall I enjoyed my stay , thank you , the front of house personnel where very welcoming , along with the house keeping staff , keep up the good work
For the price of our hotel room, I expected quite a bit more. While there is a Denny's located next door, there is no breakfast with the relatively expensive room. There is a homeless camp by the freeway less than a block away, and the homeless are constantly on the property. The room felt like it was very old (80's or earlier vintage), but an attempt at updating it had been made with the soft-good in the room. The linens and appointments were nice in the room, but the bathroom was so small and the water pressure was horrible. The vanity area, sink, bathroom floor, etc all appeared dated and original. There wasn't much soundproofing and you could hear everything outside. That, coupled with a lumpy bed, made for a rougher night than I would have liked. On the plus side, the room was clean, and the hotel staff was very friendly. I would go stay in Santa Monica for the same price in a better location.
Room was ok, floor was a bit dirty around the bed. We lifted up the bed skirt and found things behind it. Water pressure was terrible in the shower. Door wasn't properly sealed to the outside so room was freezing when we first got there. Homeless people were living in the stairwell so that was a little startling to come across someone sleeping there. Hotel grounds aren't secure so people off the streets were wandering the parking lot and upper floors. Only plus is that location is central and was a short drive to popular attractions, and staff was friendly.
Good past experience with this hotel in Sherman Oaks. They offered a very good rate, so grabbed it. Requested 1st floor and got it, others checking in, did not get 1st floor. Got corner room which was dark and dreary, however, very quiet as away from street noise, so turned out to be great room. Amentities were usual shampoo, lotion, but added ear plugs. A good addition. Would stay again if rate good.
Clean room, plenty of space. Denny's a minute away, so decent breakfast every couple of days. On site laundry came in handy. 2 floors, no elevator, so plan ahead. Noise wasn't too bad, no problems sleeping. I'd stay here again if I needed to be around here.
We love to stay here. They are friendly and accommodating. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. The front desk found us a room even though we had booked the wrong date. So it was our mistake and they fixed it for us.
The motel is conveniently located in Sherman Oaks. The motel does not have top quality tv's, or channel selections, and does not provide breakfasts. The rooms have been updated, the staff is helpful, the front desk is friendly and helpful.
Stayed here for 4 nights. Location was close to everything, short Uber ride from many attractions (Hollywood, Universal City, Sunset Strip, etc.). Neighborhood around the hotel doesn't offer much though, no bars walking distance. The Denny's attached to the hotel is average at best. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Didn't hear highway noise at all. I would stay there again.
I recently had surgery and AM taking muscle relaxers at night that caused me to sleep restlessly. when I woke up at 4:15 a.m. with my head at the foot of the bed face first in the ground duvet runner, all I could smell was urine!!!! I like to review on your Facebook page too- all I wanna know is so you have no customer service or management at night when you are a business that is open at night??!! It took me 45 minutes calling from my room and my cell phone to reach someone at the front desk who then denied missing any calls from our room phone and my cell phone. spoke with someone named Chris who was very flippant and told me to go back to sleep and call back at 9 a.m. to speak to housekeeping! WTH??!! Like I'm going back to sleep in this nasty bed! If I wanted to wake up in a crime scene I'd be at Motel 6 paying a fraction of the price Ugh :(
This is not a "Plus" worthy Best Western. Parking is a problem, sometimes you need to park on Sepulveda Blvd (very busy street). Bathroom is small - warped door, hard to close, door almost hits the toilet. AC unit makes noise but doesn't do anything - room is stuffy. Each morning we woke up with headache and stuffy nose - maybe the cleansers used? They try to keep the old facility nice, but it is getting tired. Construction in middle of parking - traffic congested. $20 PER NIGHT pet fee is excessive.
Me and my family visited the beach and Universal Studios for The Thanksgiving Holiday. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Carriage Inn. We are return customers and we have never been diappointed. The rooms are clean and comfortable with safe parking and a friendly staff.
If the office staff does not have it together, the entire trip is ruined. Nothing aggravates me more! I can stay in any expensive hotel that I desire, but this staff has always tried their best to give me the room I want, have the room ready quicker, allow me to leave later, etc....
We are always pleased with Best Western brand hotels, and have never experienced a problem. This hotel is conveniently near the 405 and 101 freeways, so it's easy to get to any location you want. Our room was clean and quiet, and there is a swimming pool too. You can't go wrong with Best Western, even in Europe.
I travel a great deal and am very picky. I love this hotel and am on my 3rd stay. The hotel is centrally located for easy access to everything needed for tourists and business people. Extremely close to Ventura Blvd, which is packed with fantastic restaurants and shopping. Of course, the convenience of the 24 hour onsite restaurant is hard to beat. The staff, rooms, location, and cleanliness are top notch! You will not be disappointed!
the heated spa is the best part of the hotel, so nice to soak after work. the room was comfortable and clean. only had 1 problem come up in the 3 months i was there and it was resolved quickly and efficiently. staff were very friendly and helpful. definitely would stay there again! (this was my 2nd stay)
This was the second time within 2 months that i have stayed here for a week. The ice maker near room was out entire time. Not really a big deal. They had a flood on first floor that staff was not awhere of until i mention it. Seemed to be to busy, i understand this hotel is very busy.
Everything about this hotel was just great. Factoring in the price made it a great value. I was in town for a bowling tournament and they had negotiated a special rate of $95 per night. I checked on other properties but couldn't beat that rate. I didn't use the swimming pool but it looked really nice. Even the vending area was clean and well lit. I didn't eat at the on-site Denny's restaurant, but I walked 5 minutes up Sepulveda to the 88 Chinese restaurant and brought back some yummy food to have for dinner.
The room was very clean. The hotel is very good / Great value. Ask for a room in the tower. The outside rooms tend to be noisy from the nearby highway and street. The room was clean. Parking was not as big a deal as many people say.
There are a lot of hotels in and around the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks area, but most of them are either scary bad or insanely expensive for satisfactory level service and cleanliness. The Best Western Carriage Inn was a surprising clean, well maintained and reasonably priced option in this sea of disappointment and I will stay there again in the future. The Good: Location is great if you need to stay in this area. Easily accessible from either side of Sepulveda and easy freeway access in two directions. About a mile off Ventura Blvd. where there are numerous dining and shopping options. The hotel is erratically set up, but there seems to be sufficient free parking. I was easily able to find spots for my truck without having to squeeze in, although some parts of the lot do have lower clearance. The rooms (mine at least, I can't speak for all of them) were clean, well maintained and comfortable and smelled pleasant. HVAC worked well without being noisy. Shower had decent water pressure and the drains ran freely (something that is surprisingly uncommon). Plenty of soap, shampoo, etc. There was a sink both in the bathroom and another outside, which is tremendously convenient if you have two people trying to get ready in the morning at the same time. Good TV (Samsung), the bed was extremely comfortable (YMMV, I liked it anyway, but everyone has their own opinions on that kind of thing). Nice workspace, numerous power outlets available both by the bed and at the desk. The door sealed well and was secure. These are outside access rooms for the most part, and given the area, a secure door does offer peace of mind. The Bad: Check-in was a bit slow, but not intolerable. The bathroom only had 2 full sized towels. I don't know if this is the norm at this hotel, but a bathroom in a room for 2 people should never have fewer than 3 towels. I had to go ask for more before I ever had a chance to set foot in the shower. The Internet was clunky. When it was working, it worked well, but it seemed to stop and start. This wasn't a router connection problem, either, it seems to be an ISP problem. My connection to the router always stayed rock steady with a strong signal. It was annoying enough that I eventually gave up on using the wi-fi for my phone. Nearby Sepulvada Blvd. does get noisy during the day, but at night I didn't find the sound to be overly intrusive. Finally, the on-site restaurant is a Denny's, and Denny's is terrible. Overall, the good far outweighed the bad and I would happily stay here again as long as the price remains reasonable. Pricing here is largely based on demand, so the value comes and goes as I understand it.
good clean rooms quick service..but watch out for local street people hanging around;they are everywhere,,good location and fair price and ample parking close to room unbelievable...these surveys??? on and on and on...I will never do again!!!
The location right off the 405 is good, and even though it is close to the freeway, it is quiet. The rooms are nice, nothing special, but typical for a Best Western. The beds were quite comfortable, but the shower had very low pressure. Parking was very tight coming late to the hotel, WiFi worked very well. A good place to stay for a day or two, especially if you can get a good deal through Hotwire. The staff was nice and helpful. Would stay again if I was in the area.
This stay at this particular location was average. Ive stayed at BEST WESTERNS before, and really enjoy the organization. ?But just a little dissapointed with this site, that there was no breakfast amenity. Just because there was a DENNYS restaurant next door. For the price I paid for the stay, I couldve stayed at a HLOIDAY INN EXPRESS,a few miles further and had breakfast accomidations!!
This is a good option for those who have business or family in the area. They have a pool and a hot tub. The property adjoins a Denny's restaurant which is convenient for breakfast. There are no other options within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The prices are reasonable and so are the amenities.
My family and I felt a warm welcome from all the front desk staff including the General Manager at check in and throughout our stay. The staff was very friendly always greeted and were very approachable.
Property is your typical US BW hotel. Location is convenient. Facilities are adequate. Service staff is competent. Parking is tight specially if you come in late. The traffic noise is minimal specially considering it is fronting a busy street on one side and the freeway on the back.
While it's nothing fancy, the Carriage Inn is clean and comfortable. The location right off the 405 is very convenient and the rooms are quiet considering the proximity to the freeway. The furniture is basic, but on the new side and in good condition. I've stayed here a couple of times because the prices can't be beat, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Free wi-fi is much appreciated too, and the signal was good.
Stayed 1 night in room 141. Check in was quick and easy. Hotel was fully booked. We asked for a room on ground floor and request was met no problem. Room was large and clean. Denny's is on site and provides room service. Location appeared safe. Plenty of shops nearby.
We stayed five nights here and found it well-located for our needs. Rooms were nice, also clean. Enjoy the housekeeping staffs' efforts if you go. They can really make a bed look professional. Be ready for the traffic. I-405 is within sight as thousands of cars crawl by on the weekdays--south in the morning; north at night. If you're going to a fast-food place on Ventura, don't turn right behind the Plaza! It will take you a half hour to go two miles! Access to Route 101 surrounds this location - again, go right out of driveway and then straight onto highway! Parking in hotel is limited. Get in early if you want a space with lines. Don't go to nearby restaurant!
I was there two nights. The first night a prostitute was working the corner and the next I found needles on the ground in the same area. Rooms were really quite good with a very comfortable bed. Parking was very tight and scarce if you got there late. Be very careful with a car you don't want door dings on. Denny's, attached to the hotel was actually very good and cheaper than eating in a hotel.
A nice hotel but access and noise caused by extreme traffic made it a difficult stay. Beds were a little soft for my taste, a light was broken for 2 days. I did not have time to ask for it to be fixed but the maids could of been proactive.
First of all this inn should not have a Plus name. All they did was a funky remodel and BW gave them a Plus. There is no breakfast. The pool is very small and filthy. Only 1 elevator works. If you come little late, there is no parking. You have to park out side. Out side does not look safe. They let homeless people sleep in the parking underpass. One homeless scared us when the elevator door opened, he was going thru the trash. The staff knows about it but don't do anything about it. We had children we went back up and lock our self. Next day we left for another Hotel. We refuse to stay another night.
Nice maintained hotel in the middle of van nuys Ca..The hotel is right off the 405 Fwy. In a area that is better than most. The one draw back is that it doesn't have a quick hot breakfast , there is a Denny's across the parking lot if that's your thing.
There are nicer areas to stay in LA, and you won't want to go walking and sightseeing here, but if you're looking for a motor inn in this part of town, this is a good place to stay. We stayed here because it was near family we were visiting. The room is clean and comfortable and well equipped. The staff are welcoming and helpful. What more do you want? The only drawback is some traffic noise from the busy road nearby, but it didn't bother us. Very good value for the price. And you can spend the money you saved on accommodation on sightseeing in LA.
They were very attentive and polite. Did not make me wait forever. Spoke English well. The only problem I have is homeless people by the vending machines. That scared me. The lighting could be a smidge brighter
This hotel beat any other hotels that we checked out. Not including the décor, atmosphere, and amenities. Had to have a one night stay due to a hospital stay for the next day and this was everything we needed. Secure, up dated, plenty of parking, reasonable price and very friendly. Centrally located to go to shopping, dining, and any medical facility. Felt very comfortable walking out to our vehicle during the night and early morning. Room a/c was perfect, that is hard to find.
We pulled up to the place and right behind one of the buildings was a group of homeless men, and the area was a bit rough. We drove through the parking to see if we could get a glimpse of something good and we just had a bad feeling. Canceled reservation and changed to a hotel down the freeway.
We had the best room we've ever had at this hotel. It was at the back with our own patio. Also sometimes the parking is tricky but we found a great spot. Employees are also very sweet! We would definitely return.
I was there for a week and was very comfortable all the way around. Considering how many years this place has been here it is in VERY good condition, fairly up to date and extremely clean. The staff was welcoming, helpful and professional. My room stayed cool with the AC, the fridge worked well to keep food fresh, there was plenty of hot water and good pressure, and the coffee was even good. The bed was comfortable and the size and layout of the room was very acomadating for my week long stay. I would return to the Carraige Inn to be certain if I find I need to return to the area.
We checked-in late around 9:30 - 10 p.m. The friendly and courteous night staff were prompted and provided great customer service, but I was disappointed to find there was no free continental breakfast and not a spacious lobby/dining area to service such a perk. The business center was not private and was out in the open where people checking-in could clearly see your information on the computer screen. We were lucky to have found parking near our room, but there was no elevator on our side, so we had to hike our luggage up the stairs and for two tired women after a long day of travel, that was annoying. If there was an elevator, I wasn't about to leave my teenage daughter alone to go find it. The property sits on a main street and next to the freeway, so it was quite noisy with a couple of homeless vagrants and their dog barking behind the hotel. Being from San Francisco, I wasn't scared to walk from our room to the lobby at night, but my teenage daughter was. Coming back down the stairs to retrieve a few more things from the car, a gal was sitting on the stairs smoking a pipe and what a thing for my daughter to see, not sure if she was smoking crack or pot, but I wasn't going to stick around to get a closer smell or look. I'm a single-mom, so I try to find safe, family-oriented hotels with free breakfast at a budget-friendly, reasonable price and considering this was a PLUS Best Western, I assumed that's what I was paying for since we've stayed at other Best Western Plus' and received these kinds of perks before.
First thing First, this place doesn't deserve to be called "PLUS" in the Best Western Chain. The only thing that it shows it's a "Plus" is its pricing! This place is noisy, you either face the FREEWAY, or face the main street. The two elevators were shaky and noisy that I felt were unsafe to use. Second, and the most important point: I shall not mention what kind of smell is it, but it's quite easy to guess. I shall say it was an unfortunate stay. I smelled it once I parked the car and open the door. Since I have already paid for the room, I couldn't cancel the booking. I hoped that the smell would just be in a small part of the hotel. It was alright until around 10pm, this smell started coming into my room. It was so strong that I had headache and it became unbearable. I almost called the Police to come here and investigate, because I believed the thickness and the longevity of the smell was way beyond "personal medical use". At least the hotel staff tried to solved the issue. I would avoid this place, never come again.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. It's located close to the freeway as well as other attractions such as Universal Studios. The rooms are really well sound proofed and have black out curtains which helped us after coming in from a late night at Halloween Horror nights. The rooms are clean and smell nice. The bed is comfortable also. The only complaint we really have is that parking is tight late at night. Other than that, we will be back again next year and fully recommend it to others!
This hotel is clean, well appointed, well priced and in an excellent location for sight seeing in L.A. There is easy access to 101 and 405 so we were able to get to all the museums that interested us. Ventura is close, and there are a multitude of good restaurants to choose from without too much driving. While at the BW we used the fitness room, which was one of the best we have encountered in a motel. We also used the laundry which was clean and in good working order. We had everything we needed for a wonderful sightseeing trip to LA. There is no breakfast service, but we found an excellent diner - Four n Twenty close at hand.
Good hotel. Quite close by to Target, restaurants, Gas stations and most important is 9 miles away from Universal studios. The hotel staff is polite and helpful. You can hear traffic noise, since the hotel is close to 405 freeway, Opt for a room which is little inside the hotel.
I loved the beautiful grounds. I liked the soft bed and pillows, I liked the pretty pool area . BUT I booked this place because I am on the internet a lot during the day and want a hot jacuzzi to unwind in. It was soooo cold that as I and other people sat in it we all joked about how we were ready to get in a hot shower because we were so cold. It was awful and I was stuck there for another 4 days. When I talked to management they said they were keeping it at the temperature that Best Western made them keep it at. I have a jacuzzi at home and this thing was 87-92 degrees. It was a pool with bubbles. Ruined my trip. I want to go back for more business trips but seriously are they just cheap ? or is it really Best Western that doesn't care about customer basics like a jacuzzi thats not blowing cold jets.
This hotel has a good location to Universal studios. It is not luxury but it is nice and clean. The only issue is you can hear the noise from the 101, however the price is right for Los Angeles. Nice place
Great location if you need to visit family in the San Fernando Valley like I do. Plus, it's close to the 405 if you need to get over the hill to "civilization." The hotel is clean and has everything you could need, and it's close to food, Costco gas station, L.A. Fitness, Target, Starbucks, and some good eateries along Ventura Blvd.
We were in town only for one night to attend a family wedding at the Skirball Center (about 10 minutes down the 405). We booked this Best Western due to the pet policy and the good reviews online. We were not disappointed. Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating...we actually arrived about an hour early and they let my wife use the pool while we were waiting for our room to be cleaned and ready. Room was ready by 3PM and we checked in. We were travelling with our 50 lb. dog and he was no problem. We were put in what I am sure are the usual "pet" rooms area. One note for the inconsiderate jerks that smoke (and not the hotel's fault)--just because it is a pet room doesn't mean you can smoke in it. Our "non-smoking" room had the stale stench of cigarettes and its just so rude to people who come after you. Please don't do it. The beds were comfy and the room itself was nice. Best part is its location right off the exit on the 405...easy on easy off. Easy to get down to Ventura Blvd too. All in all a nice place to crash after a fun wedding night. Check out was a breeze in the morning too.
Extremely clean, very updated and most comforatble bed and this is in a great area. They even let me use their computer and printer with no problem. Excellent customer service. A+Would definitely recommend.
The Best Western PLUS Carriage Inn is easily accessible from freeways and surface streets. It is clean and comfortable and appeared to have remodeled the rooms since my last stay so they were very nice. The service is always top notch. I enjoy the garden like atmosphere of the grounds and the nice clean pool.
I was treated with courtesy and excellent service from Justin. I am an older single woman traveling alone and he was helpful and made me feel safe. I am helping a senior citizen in the area who was a victim of Senior Abuse and Fraud. My room was clean. I had room service from Denny's. Thank you.
We stayed in this motel for four days while on holiday in Los Angeles in September, I was so happy to find this motel was amazingly clean, beds were very comfortable and people at the desk were very helpful, if ever I visit this wonderful city again this is where I would stay. No breakfast but a Denny's onsite..
it was a good place to stay if you were visiting the North Hollywood area. It was a little expensive for a hotel but for the area you were in I guess it was average. No Breakfast served here only coffee. so for the price I say its not worth it ]
Use this hotel as a last resort. Good location though. Rooms are noisy, beds are uncomfortable, parking is tough. No free breakfast. Took two men and a boy just to turn on the shower. The room smelled stale.
Even though the hotel sits on a busy road, the room was quiet. Nice size clean and comfy room. We did a one night stop and this suited our needs. It does have a pool and free wifi. No free breakfast, there is a Denny's on site but at the time it was closed for refurbishments.
It's my first stay with best western and I must say it was very nice stay here. Room was neat and clean. Hotel staff was friendly and cooperative. Bed were comfortable and they have free parking too. Overall it was a good experience with this hotel and definitely I would recommend this hotel to others as well.
First time ever staying at a best western, i'm not sure if all of them are like this but this hotel was perfect! I have nothing bad to say about this place! Nice location, very close to everything. Bedroom was very clean and i came back to clean towels and a freshly made bed every day for 7 days. All the staff was super polite and accommodating, we ordered a couple more hangers and some towels and i pretty much hung up the phone and the man i talked to was at the door with hangers and clean towels! Highly recommend this place!
