Small but with all the amenities. Clean rooms, confortable beds, pod coffee maker, fridge, big bathrooms with good towels. Breakfast with all the basics, warm, clean and the best server Miss Bubbles. Small cosy seating at the lobby with computer and lots of cushions where we all gathered for planing next adventure. The service and willing to help from all employees was fantastic. Ramon took care of us personally and directed us to the best places. The staff of this small place is remarkable helpful and friendly. Our cars were secure at all times. Recommend this place…
I'm an Asheville resident who was affected by Hurricane Helene. FEMA provided me with some lodging after the storm and I came to the Best Western on St. Simons as part of that. The staff here really provided me with a wonderful stay at a stressful time, and were very accommodating. Ramon, Candice, Bubbles and many other staff members were helpful and kind. I had my cat with me and was able to keep her in the room with me. I really appreciate it the great selection of breakfast foods available and pleasant seating areas inside and outside. The pool is beautiful and I intend to come back during a warmer season to take advantage it. I really enjoyed the Jacuzzi. And the grounds are beautiful with their live oaks and Spanish moss. This hotel is charming and a great value on St. Simons!
This hotel isn't close to a lot of things but you're only a 8-10 minute drive. The pool area is very nice. The hot tub was great. The breakfast was also very good. The lady at the front desk was very friendly. Our room wasn't big but we had a fridge and a king sized bed so we were happy.
Just stayed here November 6 thru 8 2024 First the Good. Staff very Friendly. Breakfast area was very clean and attended to. Food was very good. Coffee in the main office was very good. Very dog friendly hotel. Now the bad. Room was filthy. Worst hotel cleanliness we have ever had in any hotel. The room Smelled horrible upon entering the room like dog and Smoking. The Bathroom toilet was filthy as if someone just had an issue and there were residuals left under the toilet seat and was not cleaned. Bathroom sink was dirty as if it was not even wiped down at all. Floors were so bad we did not even bring our bags in until we went to Win-Dixie and purchased $30 in supplies to clean and disinfect room even a swifter to be able to walk in our socks on the floor. Swifter 3 times with 12 wet pads and still came out dirty. Then let air out while we went to eat. The cabinet under the tv was missing front feet and was leaning so far forward the doors and doors could not even stay shut. Toilet back cover was not even the correct one for the toilet and did not fit. Shower curtain rod was falling forward and would not let the curtain stay shut during shower. Just not taken care of. Unless management makes major changes, we will not be back.
This place was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast area was spacious, very clean and well attended to. Choices were more than adequate. Bathroom was very clean. Overall, we were pleased with the everything about this place. and would highly reccommend it....
We went for a weekend getaway and had a pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The area is quiet but only a short drive to everything St Simons has to offer. I wanted an old style hotel with modern renovations and the Best Western delivered.
A nice hotel in a very tropical setting. The room was clean and comfortable, bed very comfortable. A beautiful pool and sauna area, breakfast was average but good coffee. Staff was friendly. We were not that impressed with St Simons Island but would come back to stay at this hotel. The pool setting was very relaxing.
Great experience. Great staff. Clean and fresh. The entire team was accommodating. Great breakfast. In short we were entirely satisfied, you can't say that about many accommodations these days. The physical plant has been completely refurbished.
We stayed at this property over the recent Labor Day Weekend and although this is a somewhat older property it is very well maintained, clean, and recently updated. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the pool and grounds are well landscaped and the property itself is located in a very quiet setting.
Sorry we came in late. Receptionist wasn‘t friendly at all. No free water for Platinum members. „This is not our policy“. Same at check-out. Different person but again unfriendly. Only during breakfast we‘ve seen a very attentive lady (Chrissie?). Breakfast and room were ok, bathroom outdated. Best is the swimming pool and outdoor seating area. Really beautiful. Looked like southern charme. Unsure if we‘d give this Best Western a second chance when we come back to St. Simon Island.
The manager and staff at Best Western Plus St. Simons was outstanding! Very nice breakfast buffet. Outstanding pool area. Very short distance to the beach. Less than a 10 minute drive. The property isn't the newest BUT they are doing a great job keeping it up nicely. A special thanks to Ramon, Candice, Marquita, and Kristy. Each of these individuals shared in making our stay awesome. My son is adamant that this is the BEST pool ever!!! Thanks Best Western Plus St. Simons😄
We were extremely happy with our stay. The hotel has a very quaint quiet plantation feel from the moment you turn into their drive!! The staff is super friendly and helpful! Myesha at the front desk went over and above to assist us! The suite was very spacious and would be perfect for anyone especially young families! One of the best features of the hotel is the gorgeous large clean pool area with its gazebo and raised seating areas. It feels very tropical and inviting. There is also a cute sitting area with overhead lights off of the breakfast room. We totally enjoyed our stay!!
It is worth the money just to sit at the lovely pool area under the magnificent trees with Spanish moss! Pool is large for this small property and very pretty. Clean, well-equipped rooms (little on the small side which is why they have the sliding bathroom door). Comfortable beds. Free parking. Friendly, chill, staff. And yes, their coffee machine makes fantastic cappuccino. The whole place exudes southern charm and we'd stay again.
We were treated with respect, and kindness. They truly were making sure we were comfortable. Very pretty and comfortable. Can't wait to come back. The breakfast was delicious and had something for everyone of us in our party. Very clean. Made sure we had our pack and play. Very kid friendly. Beautiful pool area with great music playing. Bests and pillows very comfy. Great air cond. Very friendly staff. Above and beyond friendliness. Their heart was set on making our time there memorable.
Hotel looks to be recently remodeled in all areas. Small but clean, functional, and comfortable room. The only complaint (and this is for all hotels that have this feature) is the barn door for the bathroom door. It really can make things awkward when traveling with friends. The grounds were very clean, the complimentary breakfast was perfect and the attendant, whom I wish I had her name, was the absolute highlight. So friendly, greeted everyone, and kept the entire area sparking clean. All staff encountered were very friendly. Location great as well less than 5 minutes to the main little downtown and East Beach. Would stay here again.
Great hotel in St. Simon's. The rooms all have exterior doors, so the check-in and breakfast area are in the main entrance part of the building. The pool is expansive considering the property, and has a small deep section (7 ft), as well as a hot tub that sits underneath a gazebo. Towels on site, but they are the standard flimsy hotel pool towels, so helps to bring your own from home. Plenty of pool seating. One minor criticism - the bathroom doors are the sliding barn door style doors. This meant you could hear everything. (Thankfully we had a white noise machine with us and could crank up the TV). The bathroom door also often would bounce back a few inches after being initially shut, no matter how gently you closed it, which almost made for some awkwardness! Other than that, a great stay.
Entire property is very well-kept. Flooring is now LVP planked with new tile in bath, so no carpeting mentioned in other reviews. Our room was extremely clean with super-comfy bedding. The pool area is gorgeous, very tropical. Breakfast was A+. What a fancy coffee machine (cappuccino! latte!) and a fresh yogurt machine. Our room was sound-proof; no outside noise. Swimming pool area ran out of pool towels. Bring your own just in case. The short drive to the beaches and village is very manageable.
Amazing staff and facilities. I will definitely return. The pool area was so nice and relaxing. I can't say enough about the staff.
The front desk personal were awesome! The pool was super nice with a hot tub and big oaks over the pool to give shade or sun. It's 5 min Uber ride to the pier and restaurants. Will definitely be back for a longer stay. Cudos to your team!
The management went above and beyond to make our time at the location a great experience for us. From comping a room (suite) due to our physical disabilities. We are grateful for the service we received and the feeling of a 'family' when working with management on our issues. We are grateful.
We loved so many things about this hotel. The location is great- close to the pier and beaches. There are so many small things that are intentional and lovely. The pool area is clean and very beautiful. It has a resort feel under the oaks with a hot tub and towel service. The decor of the lobby and rooms is updated, fresh, and bright. Their breakfast service includes fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, cereals, and danishes, as well as a FABULOUS coffee machine that does cappuccinos, flat whites, Americans, etc. The breakfast and coffee is worth at least $10 per person. The location is idyllic under beautiful oak trees and other stately looking buildings. The landscaping is lovely, and they add great little touches like extra big bath towels, in room Keurig machines, and great pillows. We will absolutely return to this hotel. The attention to detail is clear and appreciated.
A+++++++. Was a phenomenal place to stay and the front dest gentleman was fabulous and gave exceptional service and was very helpful during our stay. The hotel should reward their staff and the front desk clerk gentleman. Their service makes your hotel the best around . Stacie Tapley
Great one nite stay. Super friendly staff. Clean and quiet. Great pool and sauna area surrounded by massive trees and Spanish moss. Can't beat it for the price. Would gladly stay here again. Better than other places we have stayed near here at 1/3 the price.
Couldn't have been better. The staff from the manager down were friendly and accommodating. The Breakfast was great.
Great hotel some minor bumps all resolvable. Loved the location, the grounds, the pool area was beautiful. It was too cold for us so we didnt use the area but we did take a walk around it. I would definitely stay here again.
This was a great hotel! The service was wonderful and the front desk staff and manager were the friendliest and kindest people! We felt very welcome and at home. The rooms were clean and tidy and the pool was great. It was a very quiet hotel and we felt very safe.
My friend and I brought our horses down to ride on the beach and needed a close, comfortable hotel to relax in when we weren't riding. So many wonderful things about this hotel, the ultra incredibly comfortable beds, the easy, delicious breakfast and beautiful pool area. But the best part was the manager he went above and beyond to make us happy, and was a truly friendly professional who we loved seeing every day. We will definitely be back because of him.
I had to make a last minute reservation for a work trip. Laci and Terry, at the front desk, were very accommodation and made sure that my check in was quick and easy.
I stayed here for 2 nights in a "King Suite" room on the 2nd floor. I was pleased with my room and experience at this BW. The suite consisted of 2 rooms, making it quite large. Both the "living room" / sitting room and the bedroom had flat screen tvs. Wifi worked well; tv's worked well. AC / heating unit worked well and did not create a lot of noise. The linens on the bed were crisp and clean. The pillows had different densities, which I like (some soft/some firmer). The rooms were very clean and the bathroom in particular was sqeeky clean. Shower pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. Nice smelling toiletries are provided.. The suite had a small refrigrator which worked well. There was also a Kuerig style coffee maker and coffee pods in the room. The hotel offers breakfast and it was one of the better hotel breakfasts that I have had in the past year (scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, fruit, juices, cereal, yogurt ......). The hotel employees are friendly and responsive. The furnishings in the living room portion of my suite were quite "retro" and IDK if they purchased them recently in that style or not (they looked authentically OLD, but were not tattered and worn out), but I found them kind of weird. That is the only mild complaint that I would offer about the room I stayed in. The pool and hot-tub were closed for renovations during my visit; it would have been too cold to use the pool anyway. The rear courtyard surrounding the pool are quite lovely. The hotel is located approx. 4 miles from East Beach and the Coast Guard station beach. Downtown is also close by (approx. 3.5 miles). The locaton of the hotel is in a very quiet area and there is minimal noise at night. I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again.
Requested non-smoking room and the room we were given stank of smoke. They said there was only one other room available because the hotel is under construction but it was on another floor and elevator wasn't working. Room was beyond filthy. Pool closed. Stains on everything. It was such a bad experience. We would not recommend it. Steer clear!
Very nice hotel at a good price. Breakfast was tasty and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Only a five minute drive from the pier. We would definitely consider staying here again if we are ever on the island.
This hotel was absolutely great. It is an older structure that was renovated and redecorated better than many I have seen. The bed was very comfortable, the decorations bright and colorful AND there is a hot tub in the courtyard that was hot and clean. It is even under a gazebo so you could go even if raining. Most of the staff were very friendly especially the breakfast attendant. We made a quick stop on our way home but we will return
Hotel was great. Loved the location, nice and quiet, easily accessible to places. Breakfast was great, staff was excellent. Only hiccup was they forgot to clean our room. Informed staff and ensured it was done next day. Beautiful pool and spa. Internet was great. Lots of pillows, just too soft. Definitely recommend
Staff was nice, and the beds were good and comfortable. I slept well. Breakfast was descent sausage and eggs, waffles and toast options. Loved the yougurt bar, I enjoyed the outdoor seating. My friends enjoyed the hot tub. The area was gorgeous. I hope to come back soon.
I've stayed at several Best Westerns and have grown to trust this hotel chain. However, my experience at the St. Simons Island Best Western was disappointing. The exterior of the hotel is lovely and fits in with the charm of St. Simons Island. The pool is beautiful and clean. On the other hand, my room had dirty carpet and a chair that looked like a cat had clawed it. There was a roach in the bathroom and bugs on a cabinet (and one on my pillow- but not in the res of the bed). When I reported this to the front desk, all they asked was what room I was in and did not seem to be concerned. My room was a pet friendly room - maybe they do not give their best rooms to guests with pets. But I've stayed at other Best Westerns and the pet friendly rooms were clean and comfortable. I hope they do a deep cleaning for the next guest.
We chose this hotel because we frequently use this brand and the price was very reasonable. However, the actual room leaves less to be desired because of the dingy carpet. As soon as we entered the room my wife smelled unpleasant orders and she had a cold/sinus issues. The shower curtain was smelly as well. The rest of the room was acceptable. On a kinder and gentler note, we enjoyed the breakfast, as they had adequate offerings. My wife had English muffins, sausage, and coffee. I had a delectable waffle with chocolate chips, peanut butter, and walnuts, with sausage, eggs, decaf, milk and cranberry juice. The breakfast and the kind staff were the saving grace of our experience. I would stay there again, but not until they clean that filthy carpet.
Our room at St Simons was very roomy, clean and comfortable. The manager was helpful and accommodating. We came for a fall getaway and had never been to St Simons. Manager helped us and provided information on things to do around the area. Parking was very convenient and easy to access. The pool was one of our favorite parts. It is so pretty and sort of secluded and private. Very peaceful and quiet area.
Stayed here for 3 nights due to a work conference on the island. Upon arrival approx 8pm the front desk was vacant, and I had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to show up. I peeked into the office behind the desk area and it was empty too, definitely not a good first impression. My room was on the second floor over looking the pool, a two queen bed suite right on the corner by the elevators. First impression of the room, the floors were incredibly dirty with multiple stains on the carpet in the seating/Living room area. The beds were nice, with fresh clean bedding, & very comfortable. The bathroom was adequate, though the sliding barn style door meant minimal privacy. Most hotels have done away with daily housekeeping, and because of that I'd expect cleaner rooms between guests, but that doesn't seem to be the norm anymore. Our stay was no different, we found what looked to be dry dog food hidden between the curtain bottoms & the table near the beds, & when pulling out the pullout couch we found dirty sheets on the bed as well as an additional set of dirty sheets wadded up under the pullout with two empty soda bottles. Breakfast in the morning was very good, the attendant was prompt & was regularly refilling items. The pool was nice, though the shallow end had a good amount of debris from the trees, & each night we saw people out swimming til after 10 but we never had issues with noise or rowdy guests. Overall it was a good stay, if the hotel can focus on having a manned front desk, and thoroughly cleaning rooms between guests & deep cleaning regularly, then I'd rate it 5 stars.
This is a very good and affordable option for beautiful St Simon's. The pool and breakfast buffet are especially good. Off the road and peaceful. Convenient for doing thins on St Simon's and nearby areas. Most of the staff were highly courteous.
This being our first stay on the Island, we had no idea as what to expect. The hotel was comfortable and easy to find. Rooms showed some carpet wear but were clean and welcoming. The entire staff were cordial and very helpful. Breakfast area was better than expected. Quality of food and variety should satisfy any taste. The pool was closed for most of our stay due to weather damage but when we were able to get i , very enjoyable. We'll be back.
Hotel was in a great location, very convenient! Check in was less than pleasant, room was very small or the furniture was too large, there was a lot crammed in there! Shower tiles were missing and there was a sliding door on the bathroom with no latch or lock, so no way to keep it closed. Very uncomfortable in a room with 4 people staying in it!!! We chose a room with a pool view which was really pretty until you looked over the railing where the ground was literally COVERED in trash, including used tampons! Breakfast lady was kind and did a great job all by herself in there with a packed house! I hope she gets a raise bc she was actually the highlight of that place!!!
You cannot find a better island to explore! So much fun and history here! This hotel is kept very well and the pool and hot tub area is a plus! It is safe and the service is great! This is not a cheap vacation location, so this hotel offers great value and you can actually bike all around the island from here!
This motel is in a great location, very quiet and peaceful, happy customer service at the desk, great breakfast, and the best beds ever. AC was great, Internet never had any issues, and a big pool. We will most definitely go back.
The staff at this location were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfy! They offer complementary breakfast, the bacon and waffles were yummy! The pool and hot tub was clean and the other guest there were very nice and respectful. The beach is 7 minutes away. There are so many great restaurants and stores less than 10 minutes from the hotel. It's so convenient.
We spent 4 days and three nights here. We thoroughly enjoyed St. Simons Island and this Best Western Plus. Best Western is one of two hotels that we look for when traveling to a location. This Best Western did not disappoint… It was just as clean, beautiful and has friendly staff as the pictures depicted. I would definitely come back.
My family and I really enjoyed this property, especially the pool! Breakfast was hot, and plentiful! It got us started for the day! The room was clean, but the door was a little dirty on the inside and the carpet had a couple stains. Coffee was always hot and stocked. This location is just a 8 minute drive from the village with all the shops and dining!! Beautiful area and would recommend!
I have stayed at this property twice and the renovation makes a good property very good! I like the location, quiet and easily walkable. Most all food and beverage is a short car hop away - Demere Grill is an under the radar sports bar with great food. The pool is very nice at this property, it is spa like. Also, the breakfast service was very good,
very nice for an on the road top over. of course it's a motel type, and it's not brand new, but hey, it has a pool, a hot tub and a very nice lady at reception. And at a motel price. Hence "value for money".
The facility was charming and welcoming. The breakfast area thoroughly charming and great selection. The bedding was comfortable and the room well appointed. I had a pet and it was no issue. There was a pet fee and deposit (which hopefully will be returned) it was conveniently located and very quiet.
The Best Western St Simons Island is one of the very best. Excellent staff and venue. It's close to everything and it's affordable. The pool and hot tub are great and the breakfast is plentiful. Very helpful people on hand and all of the staff is to be commended. It's the only place I will stay when traveling to that area. Great hotel and with your time to look into it.
Receptionist greeted us warmly and even offered recommendations for local restaurants at check-in. We found our room sparkling clean and extremely comfortable (very rare for budget hotels). Would absolutely recommend this place for a quick stop mid-travel or even a low-cost honeymoon (ask about towels for the jacuzzi outside).
We stayed in the suite so that we would have 2 beds and a pull out sofa. The beds were very comfortable and I slept like a baby. The sofa was comfortable enough that my 19 yr old son slept on it without even opening up the sleeper. The hotel has plenty of space for trucks to park, though tractor trailers would be a lil tight getting around the back of the hotel. It is within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and bars, so that was good since we didn't have a car to drive (just the work truck).
Upon entry the room smelled of mold and mildew. The humidity in the room, even though the AC was set at 69, was so high the bedding felt damp. There was mold on the light fixture in the bathroom as well as the wall. Not the place for someone with allergies or compromised lungs.
I stayed at a "4 diamond resort" 2 weeks ago and then stayed here at this Best Western last weekend... This hotel was much cleaner, had a nice breakfast, great amenities, and exceptional customer service. Everyone I interacted with was polite and genuinely nice. Pool and hot tub was excellent and kept clean. And you couldn't beat the location. If we visit St Simons again we will definitely come back to this hotel!
Would never stay here again. The dirtiest, smelliest place ever. When we left I needed a tetanus shot. We felt physically sick for 2 days after we stayed here. Underwear hanging from railing outside of room. The first room smelled so bad we had to demand another room. Carpet had not been cleaned in years.
Upon arriving we immedietly noticed the bathroom faucet was leaking and there was water coming from below the bathroom sink... The carpet was also visibly stained by the air conditioning system .Not a good look upon our arrival!! Nonetheless, the very next morning we notified the front desk girl of the situation and she indicated she would put a work order in immedietly. Well, 3 days later still no repairs. The towels came in handy to soak up the water. Upon departure we told again, the front desk people of the lack of attention to the leaking, they apologized , gave us no consideration, and moved on.. BW Plus Hmmmm..... Won't stay here again!!!! BAD,BAD Impression
This hotel is a cute quaint hotel with the island feel. It's location is central to everything on the island. The pool courtyard is great, as well as the continental breakfast. This is our go-to spot when coming to St. Simons!
The Best Western Plus on St. Simons Island, GA, is a great family friendly and pet friendly hotel. It's not large but that limits the number of people so it's not crowded. The pool is large and nice since the water has warmed up. The breakfast is comparable with other hotels of the same type, it's not Cracker Barrel but it is good and you can get all you need to start your day!
I gave this hotel 4 stars because it was very clean and the employees were very attentive. The pool and hot tub were well taken care of. I would have gone with five stars except for two things one there is no Variety in the breakfast in the morning we were there 4 days and breakfast never changed at all and also guests we're not asked to smoke in the designated smoking area even though this stated it was a smoke-free Hotel. Many guess vaping and smoking by the hot tub and right outside the room doors. Check-in in front desk people were very nice breakfast lady was great. It was also a little farther from the things we wanted to see then we originally thought. All was within driving distance but we did have to get into the car and drive everywhere. Nothing really close to the hotel that you could walk to
Coffee inconvenient for breakfast. When asked the girl working breakfast why coffee was not in breakfast area she replied “I would have to bring the milk and sugars also”. Duh. Cleaning of the inside of the shower curtain should be done. Someone else's hair was gross. Pool area and fire pit was nice. Staff was polite and helpful.
This motel was extremely clean! Pool area was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was grand and had many choices. Location was perfect. Just a few miles from downtown St Simons Island. Staff were very helpful and very pleasant. I would highly recommend this motel.
We were supposed to stay one night and ended up staying 3 days, we love the island and hotel was nicer than we expected so we've decided to stay. Of course there's nothing fancy in there but it's cute and the room was clean. Saturday got really busy with tons of family coming with kids so got super noisy and for the weekend price wasn't worth staying but weekday was a very good deal. Staff is wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. We stayed with our pup and worked out good.
I loved this hotel. It was a super value and great location. The decor made you feel at home and like it wasnt just a hotel you slip in and out of. Plus the beds were super comfortable, the staff SO helpful and it had all that you could have needed. We wished we were staying longer. Good breakfast, safe parking etc. Definitely earned its PLUS.
Mediocre stay - nothing great but nothing bad either. It's a typical Best Western motel. The staff was friendly and it has an outdoor pool and hot tub. Room was clean but a bit outdated. Wouldn't intentionally stay here again but also wouldn't mind it either.
I have been going to visit my dad who is not well in Brunswick, but staying here has really helped take a lot of stress off of me during my visits. The peace found here is fantastic! I would recommend this place to anyone.
I've always had a great experience staying at the Best Western on SSI. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. Clean room with comfortable bed. Gorgeous pool area and a great breakfast...(Christy is a gem). Hotel is nestled in a private location amongst beautiful live oaks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable family-friendly place on the island. I hope to visit again soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here on SSI. The front desk staff, breakfast person, and general manager were all professional and wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. As with many other hotels, daily housekeeping is at a minimum. But, if anything was needed the front desk was there to fill your needs. Made good use of the huge pool and spa. We will be back.
My husband and I and our small dog stayed for one night as we were passing through Georgia. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable and it was a very reasonable pet fee. I would recommend this hotel for anyone traveling with a pet as it is hard to find a clean comfortable room when traveling when traveling with your fur babies. I prefer hard floors when staying in a pets allowed room as it is easier to clean and better for allergies. The carpet in the room we stayed could've been a bit cleaner or newer. The bathroom was large and very clean it would've been nice to have a lock of some kind on the bathroom door. The hotel is well located and the staff was very friendly.
Stayed at this Best Western for 1 night in March '22 with my dog. After a long, tiring day's drive it was such an unexpected pleasure to arrive at the hotel which is located in a very quiet, off the beaten track neighborhood. The hotel itself looks like a charming southern inn. The buildings surrounding the hotel are likewise designed to look like charming southern homes but are, in fact, businesses. Very pleasing!
Charming and updated property with wonderful hot and cold breakfast . Hotel is two story and surrounded by majestic oaks and swaying palms. Pool and hot tub are clean and sparkling. Close to restaurants. The pier is 5-10 minutes away and East Beach is the same.
Staff super friendly and knowledgeable about area with suggestions to make our trip fun and enjoyable , rooms really clean and beds were comfortable, breakfast good with lots of selections to choose from ,
This was a last minute trip for me to visit the beach and I'm very happy I selected this property. I've always seen the sign on previous trips, but I always stayed in Brunswick. The property is right off one of the main roads on e you get on the island and close to restaurants. The staff was nice, the breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the room was really comfortable. I'd definitely go back
This is a much older hotel that they have updated, but nevertheless it's older. I wish I would've just went with my usual Hampton Inn. The website pictures are right after the remodel. Our room look similar, BUT had much damage & wear & tear already. Large scratches on the wall, & chips out of the furniture. One USB port didn't work, also the vent in the bathroom didn't work. The bathroom barn door was broke & would get stuck on the floor bracket. Lights out in the bathroom & the carpet looked like it need a deep cleaning. The worst was the smell in the room that hit you as soon as you opened the door every single time. (Room 227) The bed was a little too hard for me. But overall the room/bath/linens seemed clean. The bathroom/closet area was very nice. Being that this is an older hotel, the room is a bit smaller than I'm used too. The elevator was very old & rickety. After the initial ride up with our suitcases, we took the stairs every time. The pool/ spa area was beautiful. The lobby & breakfast area were also gorgeous, small but seaside beautiful. The breakfast was very good for a continental style. The staff basically get a 5 star from me, some of the friendly staff I've encountered at a hotel anywhere. I did let the guy at the front desk know of the awful smell, he said he would make a note if it, but otherwise seemed unconcerned. For me it ruined my stay. (The smell) I won't be back.
It's a very clean and quite hotel. The stuff is very friendly. The Pool area is gorgeous including a hot pot. It's the perfect location for a visit at St. Simons Island or Jekkyls Beach. It was my third stay there and I'll definetly come back.
If you are visiting Saint Simons Island, this is by far the best place to stay. Easy access to everything and the staff will make your experience on the Island that much nicer. The pool area is incredible, rooms are very clean and after a busy day, having a nice quiet place to sleep, make you ready for the next fun day on this Island or on your continue travels.
Stayed twice this month and the first room had a slight musty odor, but the second stay it smelled very clean. The front desk was super friendly as well as the breakfast attendant. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. Would definitely go back.
Such a cute hotel! Pet friendly. In a nice, quiet cul-de-sac. Near enough to everything. Staff was delightful- breakfast was great! Only 4 stars because the room was basic- but fine! Would definitely visit again.
This hotel provides a great location for peace and quiet on the island with easy access to activities. Beautiful decor with clean rooms. The large swimming pool and hot tub were clean and pleasant to be alone and interact with others. Staff members were friendly, helpful and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return to this location.
This hotel is a gem. I appreciate the consistency of customer service given in every department! Kindness goes a long way with me. I have to give a shout out to their front desk representative Aiken, and their GM Rob for their AMAZING customer service during this weekend. This place will be my go to spot on my visits to St. Simon's Island!
This hotel is perfect! The rooms are amazing, lots of storage and working space, the bathroom is large and everything is so clean. The pool is expansive and the hot tub is great. All set in a beautiful location. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. It's been nothing but a positive experience for us and we will definitely be staying here again!
Great stay. Great location. Just a quick 2 min drive to food, beach, museum and only 15 minutes from drift wood island itself. Hotel pool was awesome and hot tub. Beds were so comfy over slept breakfast every day. Definitely would stay here again.
Check in and out was quick and trouble-free. The hostess assistance at Breakfast was amazing. Room had slightly musty smell, and we experienced a couple of bugs in the room, but it was extremely clean and well kept.
I absolute hate to leave negative reviews but I had a horrible experience, have the photos to prove it and nothing was done. A few years ago, my wife and I stayed at this property and fell in love with it. The hotel was beautiful, and rooms were spotless. The management company at the time received a letter from me complimenting them on the hotel and highlighting an employee who I will always remember. It was amazing. In March 2021, I was passing through the area and decided to stop for a night as I had fond memories of the first stay. The hotel had changed management companies and I found an absolute disaster. The room was filthy. Ironically this represented their Covid clean standards. Staff didn't seem to care and didn't have any options as the property was sold out. *Dirt / mold? on the lamp shade. *Mold on the air conditioner. *Door was so bowed out it would barely lock. *Sheets so thin you could see the horrible stains on the mattress. *Dust was thick on everything. *Entire property was beat up, cut up and just neglected. After a sleepless night of sleeping on towels on top of the sheets I contacted Best Western. They were apologetic and said they would address internally but said that a refund would have to come from the property management company. I was told that I would be called, and the matter would be addressed. I heard nothing for over a month then called corporate back. After that I received a call late one evening from a lady in a call center who didn't even know which property she was calling about. Nothing was accomplished. I never even received a boilerplate apology. The company has had months to respond and therefor I write this review. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
Great hotel with a great staff willing to go above and beyond. Super clean and attractive. I especially liked the out of the way storage area on the side of the restroom. The area is beautiful and they clearly work hard to maintain the grounds. The pool is unique and beautiful.
We had a fun trip to St. Simon's Island and a wonderful experience with our stay at the Best Western. The room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the bathroom setup and all the space. Having the two table/countertops was great too. Gave us room to put clothes/toiletries and another one to prepare sandwiches and things for lunch to take to the beach. Nicely decorated. Will definitely stay here again!
staff and lobby was great, parking is a breeze since its an exterior property. Rooms felt tight, but Updated nicely. Bathroom are larger than most old properties, bathroom will need continuous maintenance due to low ceilings and heat bathrooms hold. Got a decent price so its fine overall.
Took three moves to get a room that was relatively "clean", had a working AC unit and didn't smell. Photos are of the third room. Front desk clerk in the evening is rude and the manager is non existent and refuses to speak to customers. Beware! Horrible customer service. No towels for the pool. Pool area was filthy.
This hotel was extremely clean and the General Manager was very acommodating. The breakfast was very good and they cleaned the area very well after guests were finished. All the staff was very friendly and polite.
I have to say that I took my family to Saint Simons Island and we beached hopped up and down the East Coast ! I wasn't sure where to stay in the same Simmons area so when I talk to the best western plus staff a lady name Maquita Help me help she was very cordial we laugh together both made jokes and instantly I felt like I was talking to a friend. The rest of the staff was also really helpful and very friendly. Even though this hotel is not directly on the beach it's was a better set up. At least that is my opinion. We were close enough to everything that it took five minutes to get to the beach or five minutes to be in a shopping area not to mention any of the amenities such as Walmart or Walgreens was right around the corner. We had a great time at the beach and a great time back at the hotel swimming in the swimming pool along with the Hot tub. Just to let you know I am not a paid person making this rating for the hotel. I'm a real person that had a real good time!!
This was absolutely the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Someone tried to kick down the door next to mine. I called the front desk over and over and when they didn't answer, finally called the police. When my husband complained to the manager, who was visibly drunk, he kicked us out of the hotel. This is all on top of dirty facilities, no breakfast (which was advertised), a broken hot tub, and a pool area that was rented out for a family reunion. My complaint to the corporate headquarters has gone unanswered. This is a truly horrible company.
The only window opens onto a walkway so there is no privacy and it's therefore very dark. Carpet was filthy with many stains (probably pets). Seems people only stay one night there because it would be empty and then fill up at night and then everyone gone. One night is enough. Pool looks dirty and floating leaves all over pool.
The hotel rooms were nice and clean. The pool area was spacious, pool towels was avalable for uses. The grounds were cleaned and maintained. The Manager was nice and helpful. The staff was freindly upon check in and helpful. Great place to take your family and stay for a few days to explore the St. Simons island area. the hotel is located in a nice area. A great price compare to lots of the other hotels within the area. The only problem was no daily room service, I think the reason for no daily room service due to covid requirements and short of staff. had to go to front desk daily and get towels.
The front desk person, Ashley, was efficient southern hospitality. The reception area was pleasant with literature and COFFEE. We were early, Ashley would check with housekeeping and let us know when it was ready (already unoccupied). We went out to the pool area to have our picnic lunch. There were only 2 tables with umbrellas and chairs. We selected one in the shade, and it was FILTHY. There were apparent ice cream drips, and overall had not been cleaned that day, and the ring of dirt around the metal edging showed total lack of care. And this during COVID pandemic when people are trying to stay outside. Ashley came out to say our suite was ready. It was quite adequate, although the bathroom sliding door would not stay closed, but with nice soap. The hotel advertised "full breakfast", but it was barely "continental". The hotel is in a leafy setting, and the pool surround is pretty.
Their website currently advertises, and had advertised a "full breakfast" All they offered were small cereal boxes, milk, granola bars, packaged muffins and packaged oatmeal. Their explanation was the pandemic however, we found out about it on check in with no option to cancel reservations. And housekeeping is available only if you ask for it. We were there 5 days and no housekeeping, nor is there a broom/dustpan or cleaning supplies in the room. The front desk folks were not at the front desk in any of the 6 times we went there, including checkout. Had to find them as they had other work to do at the same time. The owners are saving money by not providing advertised services but at the guest comfort and expense.
The hotel was okay with some elements being a bit dated, including the carpeting and air handling as humidity was high. The beds were decent and the pool looked nice though we didn't use it. In light of COVID the breakfast options were good, though coffee was a bit weak.
Had not stayed at this hotel for maybe 3 years, not sure if it had changed hands in the meantime as it has definitely not the same as our first visit. Because of covid my wife wipes everything down before we even unload, door handles. remotes and surfaces etc. Unfortunately disinfectant wipes were dirty. We booked a 1 bedroom suite and the tv in the bedroom was not working and the staff could not repair it that night, so we had to watch in the living area and the heat was not working and it was a cool night, Passed this on to the staff on checkout and they never offered any compensation for the faulty equipment. Rooms definitely need an update especially for $167.00 a night. On the upside nice pool area and location.
All things considered the stay at BW plus St. Simons exceeded expectations. The checking and checkout experience was fast and easy. Front desk personnel were very accommodating. Location of hotel is perfect.
We have stayed at several Best Western properties in recent years, and have found this to be pretty much the case; they need updating. Our room here was perfectly comfortable, good night's sleep, but couldn't help but notice the paint chips and soiling everywhere, a weak shower and an even worse shower curtain that didn't even cover the span of the tub. Friendly and accommodating front desk clerk, grounds need upkeep, especially the pool area which need a good sweeping. And...no hair dryer.
Stayed one night. Check in and out was easy and pleasant. Too cold for pool, but looked very clean and inviting. Took a long time for the hot water to get hot. I thought bed was comfortable, but pillows were to thin. Breakfast was grab and go. Cereal, breakfast bars ect. No microwave.
We were there for only one night. Check-in was seamless, quick and staff were friendly. Room had a fresh look, fresh paint, fixtures, etc. Carpet was horrible - smelly and dirty, which made the room have an off-odor; which made our clothes smell the same way. Breakfast was the "new normal" for COVID-19 - grab and go, a piece of fruit and cereal/granola bar. The pool was nice, we were the only ones using it at the time of our visit. It would be an okay place to stay for a day or two. All in all, we would return if needed.
Had a great stay. Very relaxing and peaceful. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful and we appreciate that a lot. 9 19 20 late night. Nice pool area with beautiful scenic surroundings. A comfortable cozy feel.
When we checked in, the room smelled sour and musty. Since we had moved in late, we spent the first night in the room before asking for a "clean" room or a refund as I had found another hotel. They moved us to another room which appeared better since they had sprayed air freshener. That wore off. Additionally, there were a bunch of kids in the pool and they said their mother worked there. They were splashing and jumping and screaming so we left the pool. Apparently, their mother worked there a while ago but no longer worked there. I did notice when someone from the hotel walked out, the mother walked around the corner, apparently hiding from staff. The pool was unpleasant. The room was filthy. Food and bugs on the nightstand. Mold on the bottom of the nightstand and bed skirt which could have been vomit or old beverage. NOT COVID CLEAN BY ANY MEANS!!!!!
We have had a very difficult year. We came here for the anniversary of a tragic loss. Check in was great, we got the pool side suite. That was the end of the good. The couch is vinyl, the chairs are vinyl. The cabinet that holds the fridge, the door is very loose. The blackout curtains are worn through. So I went for a swim, the pool is dated but relatively clean. Again no towels! So I go back to the room. They gave us only two towels. Nothing on the floor to prevent you from sliding into the toilet. So I called housekeeping, no answer, no other rooms available.
We probably will not stay here again. The place is a little run down, out dated. Needs a lot of updates. The entire staff was extremely helpful and nice. The pool needs some cleaning. It is in a great location. Just needs some cleaning all around the property.
The room was very nasty when we checked in. They never came by the next day to clean or give clean towels. Every time you went to the lobby no one was in there. The air conditioner did not cool the room very good.
Let me say straightaway that this vacation was during an uptick of Corona virus cases in Glynn County. My husband and I are Best Western Rewards Club members, so we do our best to stay at a Best Western wherever we travel. This stay at St. Simon's was from Monday-Friday. Check-in was smooth and easy. Our room was on the second floor above the registration desk and away from the pool. (The pool and hot tub were open) and it was a double-queen room. Upon entering the room, the air was on and it was cool inside. Our room was clean and equipped with two queen beds (I thought they were small though), a seating area by the window, two desks with seating, a large tv with a refrigerator and drawers located under the tv. For some reason, I thought there would be a microwave. The bathroom area had a sink, toilet and shower and a place to store more things and hang clothes. There is a safe available for locking away valuables. I must say I was used to larger room spaces at BW Plus hotels but I was satisfied. At check-in, we were told that there would be no breakfast provided other than a "grab-n-go" brown bag breakfast that included a water, apple, muffin and granola bar available on a first-come basis. We were also told if we needed towels or other supplies we would need to come to the front desk and ask for them. No housekeeping serviced the room while we were there due to Corona virus but the staff at the front desk were always nice and accommodating when we asked for towels. The bed and pillows were super comfortable and it was quiet outside. We rested very well. We were able to use the dining area to eat our meals that we brought back to the hotel and a microwave was available for use there. I want to mention Ms. Pamela. She was so nice and helpful to my husband each time he went to the front desk in the evenings. Thank you for being so nice. The two cons I have about our room is 1) the shower faucet pulled away from the tub when I lifted the knob to turn the shower on and 2) it sounded as if there was a mouse scratching between the walls of our room and the next. Pictures are included of the tub faucet. This is a safe hotel located on Main Street but off the main, heavy traffic street of Demere. There is an elevator available and stairs are located at each end of the building. Understand before booking this hotel what you are getting versus your expectations, especially during this time of Corona virus.
Stayed just one night at this hotel. It is located in a quiet neighborhood like setting. The room was clean and bed comfy. The pool area was beautiful. Unfortunately the weather was not nice enough for us to enjoy it. Not real close to restaurants, bars and shopping so we had to drive. We were there on a Sunday so many restaurants and bars were not open or not until later. Shops were open. We did not have breakfast here but it looked inviting.
For a BWP I was a little disappointed. I ended up with a 2 queen room. I thought the room was very small and cramped. I can only speak to our room. Maybe Kings were better. Also the housekeeping was a bit lax. Over a five day stay they missed cleaning up the room at least twice. On the plus side. Good location, mid island. Near amenities. Great pool and spa tub. Good breakfast room with a nice offering of food.
Family came into town even after the Coronavirus and had an amazing stay. Pamela and Sheronica were amazing and absolute pleasure to meet and have us help with any questions. Breakfast was great and a great variety. Didn't have any problems with the room, only negative side was the pool being closed but that was understandable because of the Coronavirus.
Great choice for stay, nice conference rooms.good amenities to keep informed on what's going on in the world. Great breakfast. Locate in good area not far from beach. Hotronsign on Main Street could be a little larger for site
The overall hotel is nice and aesthetically pleasing. in my room the inside lock didn't work and the bath soap dish needed to be cleaned but otherwise was mostly clean. The mirror over the desk needed a good cleaning and the desk chair was scary dirty (I wouldn't risk using it) The staff were amazing though and I didn't complain...all i needed was a clean bed and it appeared to be clean. There wasn't a view but I didn't expect one at this hotel. it was good for the money though. I felt safe and wasn't scared to lay my head down and sleep.
This was a pleasant surprise. The staff was overly friendly, the rooms are comfy, and the grounds and location are nice. I think its really good for the price and the location is great as well. The pool and outdoor area are particularly nice.
Hotel was in a nice setting. Clean. Was apparently remodeled about 4-5 years ago. We had a two queen bed suite. A little small. It had a bedroom and separate living room area but there was no door between the bedroom area and the living room.
The staff was wonderful. I drove over 14 hours to get there and Brandy got me checked in early. She was very friendly and she ran up to help me find my room and made sure everything was cleaned and comfortable before she returned to the front desk.
We recently stopped here as a base to explore St Simons and surrounding area. Hotel is located on a a pretty, quiet tree lined street. Front staff was friendly and checked us in quickly. Our room was recently updated as everything was new and clean. We liked the room layout and decor. Comfortable bed and good shower pressure too. Breakfast area was very nice overlooking the landscaped pool area .....probably the nicest breakfast room we have ever seen in a BW Plus. Breakfast items were plentiful with a good variety. Girls at the front desk were also very friendly at checkout. We would not hesitate to return
This hotel is nicely situated inland . The hotel itself is very attractive on the outside and the pool area is beautiful with a large seating area nearby centered around a firepit. There is also a gazebo with hot tub ( I think.) Rooms are adequate, look freshly painted. Bathroom has one sink and a tub with shower. The super friendly, helpful staff make up for the lackluster rooms. Also breakfast, is better than most "breakfast included" places. Overall a nice place to stay and would do so again.
We scheduled to stay one night at the Best Western Plus on St. Simon Island. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary on the Island. We were concerned about the negative comments we had read, but decided to stlll book as we have usually had good experience with BW. We were pleasantly surprised at our room. The furnishings and room appeared to have been recently renovated, the decor was really nice, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The landscaping was lucisous and very well kept. Breakfast was hot and the eggs the best we have eaten at any BW! We will definitely come back and we recommend stopping at this little gem. Also, very QUIET!
Stay was okay, however cleanliness was an issue. Staff for conference/banquet room was excellent. Were willing to ensure you had a pleasant stay. Location was ideal for our event. Good continental breakfast was available..
Room looked nice when I first went inside. Went to use the bathroom and there was standing, soap scummy, water in the bathtub! Called front desk and she graciously said she would upgrade me to a suite. When I walked in, again it looked nice. Went to bathroom and there was rodent poop around toilet and as I wentback to living room& noticed it was all over the carpet!!!!! Again, called and she changed room! That time it was acceptable and even though they took one night's stay off my bill, I will NEVER stay there again!!!
Roadscholar group 11/3 to 11/8. Rooms not ready until 5 pm after red eye trip from West Coast as previously full with unruly college football louts. NOT ADA compliant: from room 125 to breakfast requires down a steep curved curb then then through parking lot to avoid numerous steps. Ditto for Conference Room, where tablecloths never changed despite 3 catered dinner nights. Room not serviced Monday: wastebaskets full, towels on floor, beds not made. Wednesday no wifi. Thursday previous occupant sock left on table. Breakfast attendant however is very helpful and enthusiastic. Car needed as location is way out in remote residential area far from village and other amenities and shopping centers. Nice pool area if you want that sort of thing. Rooms feature peculiar design with closet in bathroom. Non draining shower attended to by staff.
We stayed one night at this hotel. Comfortable room, friendly staff. Could use a bit of updating ie: carpets, but overall a decent experience. Pool water was very cool, but it is November. Internet quit working in the evening, but did not report the issue, so we cannot complain about it. Room was clean and the breakfast food was hot, clean and efficient. We will stay here again
It truly doesn't get any better than this. Location and comfort of room is overe the top. Beautiful setting and pool location is incredible. Great coffee and cookies, my favorite is the turtle cookies!!! Looking forward to returning soon. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
The hotel was clean, new and beautiful. The pool was awesome and breakfast was awesome and way better than all the other sub standard hotels rubber eggs and tasteless sides. Everything about the stay, including the wait staff from the cafe to the check in was way above expectations.
Best Western is a good hotel but this has the smallest room yet. Don't book if you're claustrophobic. And don't book through a third party. Glad it has an elevator for the second floor. Good staff and friendly.
Majority of staff was excellent. Pool towels and floats were helpful and suite was enjoyable. I plan to return annually! Only one day's glitch in cleanliness of room and that was handled well. Discount was also provided for that inconvenience.
Excellent stay great property with great service. Housekeeping did and excellent good and were exceptional in keeping guest comfortable. Management were approachable and did understand that the customer comes first. Thank you for a great stay.
I have tried a suite. Here are the main pro and con: PRO: - the hotel has a pleasant external design. The pool area has some kind of Caribbean architecture. - the king bed is good and comfortable - the wifi is free and fast CON: - the furnitures in the room are generally ugly and sometimes damaged - the staff at front desk is not very welcoming - the air conditioning is extremely noisy, which makes it unpleasant - the customers have an excessive taste for beers and tattoes :-)
We had a nice quick trip. The stay at the Western Plus at Saint Simons made it excellent. Nice people, and the hotel is confortable, clean and relaxing. Nice view, the pool and whirlpool are nice to spend some time in it. Great area, close to the stores and the rest of the islands.
My first impression of the hotel was given to me while awaiting the clerk. She was patiently on the phone dealing with a couple of issues and had more tact and grace than I've seen exhibited in quite a while. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel pool was closed while we were there so that is one disappointment.
The A/C "window" type unit in room could not cool down and keep room cool enough. Set on high and fan on. Still left room warm and stale feeling air. The island is neat but water is not blue. Islands in FL give you better value for $.
The stay was great. Brandy the young lady from the front desk was amazing. She really knows how to be the proper hostess she was very nice and sweet to everyone in our huge group. The room was kind of small tho. They can improve the cleanliness as well. However, is a good place to stay, very relaxing time even with a lot of young soccer players...the pool is very nice and the location is great.
People are better off spending the additional $50 per night to stay at a resort like The King & Prince or one of the bed and breakfasts on the island. To put it plainly- you get what you pay for. We will not be staying here again.
The location of this hotel is good, but at over $132 per night, which is what my family paid, it is completely overpriced. The room we had was tiny with a 5 inch clearance between the bed and the bathroom door. We stayed for 3 nights. We got towels on one day, nothing else. The bathrooms were not cleaned, the room was not vacuumed, beds were made 1 day. I don't expect clean towels daily, but when a hotel has swimming pools and beaches nearby, expect bathrooms to get wet, floors to get sandy and need daily cleaning. The towels also don't dry quickly in humidity so having new towels daily would have been good. The front desk staff person, Brandy was great as well as the rest of the staff we met. But the hotel manager is non-responsive. If you're going to charge these prices, your facilities need to be in better shape, cleaner, with more thorough cleaning service. This is a hot humid location. That means moisture, bugs, and tracking in dirt and sand from the outside. Management needs to address these. The room we had was tiny. Enough beds but hardly any space to walk around in the room and if you needed to exit the bathroom, you had to make sure you weren't going to hit your legs and feet against the bed.
Clean and nice place to stay, comfy room but I will bring my pillows next time. Free breakfast and coffee and cookies all day long. 10 min from the beach and 5 min from dinning places. Beautiful pool and hot tub( VERY hot indeed).
Disappointed in the quality of this resort area facility. Corridors & rooms are in dire need of cleaning. And don't plan to visit the fitness center advertised, none exists. Our hot water didn't work in the morning though due to time constraints we didn't complain. The breakfast was the standard hot & cold variety. But a nice variety for most preferences. Didn't use the pool but did visit and it seemed to be a great place for families to wear out the little ones. Only stayed 1 night while passing through the area. One was enough. Didn't even get to enjoy any of those cookies & coffee offered 24/7. There weren't any.
This place is disgusting! I booked this room for a family reunion and boy was it a mistake. Check In time was 3pm and I was unable to check into my room until after 5pm. Upon entering my room, I noted very nasty unvacumned carpet. I also noted mildew on the bed skirt. The room felt very moist as well. I called the 1-800 # since the check in line was out the door and they told me they would place a Call to the staff and to go by the front desk to speak with the general manager who was coming out due to all of the complaints. Two employees came and knocked on the door with a rag and a spray bottle and said he came to clean up the mold and mildew. I then replied its on the bedskirt. I then mentioned the floor being unvacumned and one of the guys said “oh I don't clean rooms”. It was not in a bad way but he was letting me know he didn't vacuum. When I arrived at the front desk, the manager was taking a complaint from another customer, and was gettting ready to walk off when I ask to speak to him. I told him I was there to speak to the general manager and he asked me what I needed never stating he was not the general manager. The whole time I am calling him the general manager, and he never once corrected me. To make a long story short, he told me that his employee did not tell me he didn't clean rooms because he knows his character and told me he could just check me out of the hotel. I told him I had been planning to stay at this hotel for months and I had no where else to go. He had no concern so I agreed to him checking me out of the hotel.
Arrive at WB 11 AM I told the lady at the desk I was just letting them know I was in town. She told me that she would call when my room is ready, if it would be ready before 4 pm. I never heard from her. They had to put me in another room upstairs because someone was still staying in the room that I was assigned to. It was 5;30 pm before I got into my room. There was not much move between the beds and the TV cabinet. But it was clean.
This is our second time staying here. The property is private, the pool area is beautiful!! The Staff are all very sweet!! We will be back next year!! If your lucky Brandi will be working, she is Wonderful!!
My husband and I stayed here on st. Simons island for our first romantic get away with no kids. Everything about this place was beautiful. The poll and got tub was awesome and beautiful. The atmosphere was awesome.
Our family had an outstanding experience when we stayed at this hotel June 2019. It was delightfully remodeled in a fun coastal theme. Our room clean and orderly. The pool was clean and uncrowded, plus there were plenty of guest towels poolside. There was an outdoor shower and hot tub which we also used, both good. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Compared to the noise where most other hotels are located on St Simon's, this one is tucked away in a quiet location but a short drive to all the action on the island. We had no issues with noise whatsoever. The breakfast room was clean and had a nice variety of food and drink plus the hostess, Kristy, has great Southern hospitality- a real sweetheart. We stayed at this hotel prior to the remodel and were really pleased to see it redone. Sad to see anyone in these reviews who may have had a poor experience at this GEM of a hotel. Even the other guests during our stay were polite! We plan to return again and highly recommend it.
Lovely 2 day stay in June. Each staff member we encountered greeted us with a big smile and good afternoon, good morning. The rooms are quite spacious with the separate lounging area. Bath was clean and equipped. Breakfast was excellent each morning ! Everything one might want from juices to coffees, teas, delicious eggs, sausage, bacon, breads...cannot leave hungry here ! The Front Desk Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Great Job, everyone ! My one regret is that my iPad left behind accidentally was never "found",
Multiple local families and hordes of local teenagers were using the pool and spa. Cars burning rubber as they left the area. No towels available for guests. The families on the lounge chairs next to us were visited by staff, so staff was well aware of the problem.. A backward compliment - The woman on the lounge next to us said, "This is a great place. If I were going to stay at a motel, this would be a good choice!"
We are traveling and just needed one lovely day and night off the road. The convenient location is quiet and pretty. The staff are polite and helpful. The room has been re-done very nicely. The breakfast, overseen by Kristie, was all you could ask for. The beds were comfortable. The pool is great. The wonderful beach is a short drive. Stay here! Eat at Crab Daddys.
This hotel was in a great location. Very quiet! When we arrived the lady at the front desk was so pleasant and to our surprise she upgraded our room to a King overlooking the pool Unit #216. Thanks! The pool area was very nice and quiet! The beds were so comfortable and the room was clean and ready! We were just a quick UBER ride to the beach!
This motel is updated, clean and in a beautiful oak tree and Spanish moss setting. Personnel was friendly and helpful. Hot water was plentiful although there wasn't much water pressure. The bed was comfortable and we spent a quiet restful night.
We just stayed this past Saturday night and we were not told upon check in that not one but two events would be occurring that night at the hotel. One of which was a reception poolside, leaving the pool closed to all hotel guests. After being chased away from the pool, as I was walking to my room, the reception DJ cat called me the whole walk to my pool side room. Humiliated, I tried to take a nap, we had driven from Miami, stopping in St Simon's to cap off our wonderful cruise week only to be disturbed by the reception. When we went to leave our car was surrounded by a photographer using our vehicle as his personal work station. We went into town which is a lot further than advertised and returned at 9:30 to the reception still continuing outside our room. The next morning I complained at the desk. Barely an apology. This morning I called and spoke with the NASTIEST person on Earth, Deborah. She informed me that when you book a hotel you only book a room not the amenities. Huh, what??? News to this lifelong traveler. After she reprimanded me several times, for I guess staying with them, I am not sure, she said she would work on giving us a partial refund but only at my request not to provide good customer service. Don't stay here, it's over priced with a terrible location and the worst customer service on the planet.
I stayed at the BW on Saint Simons with my therapy dog, which upon reserving and checking in everything was squared away. Checkout was when i met Deborah the most ignorantly hateful manager i have ever met. She yelled at me for having a “pet” at her hotel and told me she woule be charging me a $250 which is ridiculous. If she wants to enforce a change of policy she should inform her staff memebers. I have preciously stayed there twice and will now never be staying again. If you want your month ruined, go ahead and book below.
Best Western told us the $200 we paid for this Best Western Plus room was the best price available, but when we typed the address in, Google offered us a promotion for just $130. We had no choice so we took the room. Part of the reason we chose the place was for the pool, but the water was freezing cold and the pool was full of leaves. To top it off, our room faced a baseball stadium the played very loud noisy music all day and until 9:30 pm at night. There are a few cutesy touches to the room, but really more minuses than pluses.
Seems Best Western is offering an upgraded motel experience. Small room with King bed, worked for us. Nice Citrus toiletries including shampoo and conditioner. Lovely room for included hot breakfast. Scrambled eggs, waffles and choice of cereals and breads. The pool area looked very nice too.
Easy access location. It's located in small plantation themed area. Check in was quick and easy. Friendly staff. There is cookies, coffee and tea when you check in. The room is really nice and updated. It's very quiet. There was fridge but no microwave. The beds are comfortable and the King bed is big. The shower was nice is a gentle rain type shower head. Plenty of hot water. The free breakfast was really good. The only disappointment was the hot tub was full of kids playing or adults drinking. We tried several times and was never able to get in.
This property is located in a complex set far back from a busy highway, so a quiet stay is guaranteed. The rooms are comfortable if not stylish, and one odd feature is that the doorless clothes closet is located in the bathroom. What made the stay a great value was the staff. From the front desk to the cleaning staff, everyone was pleasant and friendly. Most outstanding was the young woman in charge of the breakfast room. She was a total joy, greeting every guest, offering to work the waffle machine, and wishing all a great day when we got up to leave. Her lovely manner made this a truly exceptional stay.
Clean, comfortable room. Fast check-in and out. Great breakfast. Convenient to area attractions we were visiting and no traffic problems on the island at any time we were there. After Atlanta that was a wonderful plus. Calm, peaceful and relaxing location. Would come again if visiting area.
Stayed here for two nights in a twin bedded room on the first floor. There is a lift so there was no problem with the luggage Receptionist was pleasant, friendly and efficient. The room was clean and was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was provided. Not perhaps the best in the world but was sufficient to get us going for the day. There was a pleasant swimmming pool with plenty of outside seating available. This hotel represents very good value for money.
We chanced upon this place by accident. It was a wonderful oasis in a busy little town. The room was beautifully decorated. We had a second floor room with a view of the pool. It was a quaint, quiet place for a Friday night. Saturday was a bit busier but never loud. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Heck, anyone who offers me free cookies upon check in gets a big thumbs up! We chose to stay a second night because we loved it so much. It was cheap compared to other hotels in the area. Excellent free breakfast in a cozy breakfast room. Walking around the whole 'plantation' was fun due to all the different style office buildings. Close to everything the island offers, We will recommend to anyone who is staying in that area. A hotel next to it had no balconies and no open pool. I felt sorry for the people staying there! Only drawback was that the shower water pressure and showerhead could have been better. Water temperature fluctuated. Also, the water smelled sulfury which I just chalked up to the surrounding marshlands. We bought our own water to drink. Neither of these issues were enough to sour up to the place.
When we reached the hotel, from outside it looked like a normal hotel. But inside it was very very nice. Rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and maintained. Everything was in the room which we generally expect in hotels. Even common areas very good. Morning breakfast was tasty and got good options.
As part of a last minute trip to Jekyll Island for a sports competition we were faced with not many hotels available. Not having stayed at a Best Western in over a decade I had reservations for sure. Being beach/island towns....the doors are on the outside of this hotel which may seem a bit reminiscent of a motel however the inside was very modern and overall appealing. The hotel is tucked away amongst other reputable brand hotels, we felt the area was very safe. The rooms design was so nice, comfortable and super modern for what I was expecting. The sliding bathroom door was a great touch. 2 bed room we had was a bit small, however the bathroom was pretty large. Beds were so comfy. If you have kids note that the decorative pillows will seem like really fun jousting pillows. Lol. Breakfast was nice, hot food, very clean. Dining room was a tad small, however everyone found room. The waiting area was charming as well. We'd definitely recommend this hotel.
Quiet, out of the way location yet close enough to the center of town. Rooms are a little cozy but are well kept. Breakfast bar had nice assortment of food in a small area. Pool clean, parking easy and area well lighted.
Normally, I won't stay at a Best Western. This one exceeded my expectation! It was very clean and off the beaten path. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was yummy! Filled up two teenagers!
Unfortunately, the manager Debra was less than pleasant after a mirror fell off the wall while I was not in the room. I was charged an incidental fee for the mirror falling off the wall and shattering glass on the floor, again this occurred while I was at dinner and not even in the room. I called the front desk immediately and since they did not have anyone on staff to clean it, I had to move rooms at 7 months pregnant, by myself, with no assistance. I tried to speak with Debra the manager about the charge and she hung up on me twice and told me she would not refund the incidental charge. She was less than pleasant. This is the type of customer service this hotel has to offer.
This place was adorable and the front check in lady was so friendly. The room was very clean and updated. It was in a nice quiet location which made sleeping nice. The only issue was the hot water took a long long time to heat up.
This hotel is a hidden gem really. I stay here as flight crew and I am always greeted well, looked after and have a relaxing stay. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are clean. Breakfast is ok for a budget hotel but there are places within a 15 min walk. The Manager Ryan is very helpful and so are the other staff. I recommend it much more than the home2suites at the airport. Nice pool and covered hot tub right outside the rooms.
I loved this hotel It had a homey feel I clean homes for a living and I felt the hotel was very clean . The staff where very accommodating! Great attitudes! I didn't get to eat breakfast in the dinning area but from what I seen they have a big variety and was clean. I will highly recommend staying here.
We stayed here for Thanksgiving. So happy that the BW was open and gave us a wonderful room and suite. The pool is large, the spa is well lite and hot. The motel has an arrangement with a close by gym that is free for BW guests. Can't wait to work out and come back for the free breakfast. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The front desk staff were awesome!
Reasonable rates for area. Had some problem with room entry card. It didn't work in the beginning, but was fixed by staff. The hot water never got hot, but wasn't an issue for us. I reported it at the end of the stay. Checkout was delayed a few minutes because staff didn't have paper in the printer.
The hotel had a great pool and all the staff was nice and breakfast was good. The room was small and damp feeling. The A/C clicked off an on all the time which was annoying. The only problem was they charged a different price every night and would not let me use a coupon I had. I turned it in the at check in but it took 2 days before they told me if I could use it or not. The Hotel is hard to find in the dark the signs are small. It is located behind the Holiday Inn.
Very friendly staff. One of the best BW that we have stayed at. The grounds were beautiful. Pool has a waterfall. Our room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast area is decorated with island theme.
We came to this hotel for the Georgia Florida game, so it was a very busy weekend among the college crowd. We had rented a room with two queen beds, but upon arrival, we were given a room with a king bed. When we told them about the mix up they said it was a busy weekend and brushed us off. If it is a busy weekend, then don't overbook and screw the people over who have had a room rented far in advance. Additionally, we requested that our room be cleaned multiple times and left the room all day at our inconvenience so it could be cleaned, but when we came back the room hadn't been touched. The hot tub was supposed to be open from 9 am to 10 pm, but consistently the hot tub was closed early if not almost all day. With the continental breakfast, the eggs were mixed with water to make fewer eggs go farther, which is fine but the eggs were so watered down that they tasted like water with a very slight eggy taste. The hotel staff (other than the manager) was very sweet and fun to talk to, which is the only reason I am giving three stars as opposed to one or two. The manager himself was very rude and seemed like he wanted nobody to enjoy themselves. If you don't want college kids staying at your hotel, then don't allow them to book with you. The employees here deserve to be under better, kinder management.
We came in for a Sunday night stay just after the GA/FL football game, and they were still recovering from that madness. Room was ready and very clean and well appointed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice pool. Good breakfast bar.
Very nice location, very lovely setting, really comfortable beds was hard to get up and get going they were so comfortable,a very courteous and helpful staff and maintaine personnel and a very good breakfast with really fluffy scrambled eggs, they were so good!
We were staying overnight on our way back from Gatlinburg area in TN. The property is older but has been updated. It is located in an area that is secluded with beautiful trees. Rooms were standard for a Best Western Plus. well appointed and with the typical amenities. There was a nice large pool area. It was a short drive to the pier area with all sorts of shops and restaurants.
I don't like to give bad reviews but the Only thing at all Nice about this hotel was the staff and the landscaping. Other then that - this was one of the worst stays I have ever had. My trip down there was for a business meeting and I based my decision to stay on the renovation images....But paint, carpet, new tile and furniture won't hide these issues. To start - the minute I walked into the room it smelled like a wet dog. I came to realize the real reason for the smell was because of the mold, mildew and humidity issues in the room. Because of the humidity - the sheets were actually damp and the bathroom floor was slippery. When I pulled the sheets back they were dirty and wrinkled, like they had been left balled up. Unfortunately, it was late when I checked in so I didn't have much choice but to suck it up and stay, so I laid a towel down and slept on top of that. When I attempted to watch TV I found that the remote and/or TV wasn't working correctly and I could not change the channel, pull up the guide or do a search. The Mold situation showed itself in the morning when I pulled the shower curtain back to find it was all moldy and as I started to look around I could see where the mildew was growing and coming through the caulking around the bathtub. So the lovely renovation images really don't tell the whole story but I guess if none of these things both you - this is the perfect spot to stay. But I will NEVER stay there again and unless the owners do something about the humidity issues, I would Not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The customer service at this Best Western is well...the best. My wife and I had a 5 night stay here from Sept 6-Oct1st. The front desk staff, Joyce in particular, made us feel like family. The gal in the breakfast room, Nikki aka Bubbles was always smiling, kept the food hot, and ready to help with anything including helping you make a waffle or two. The pool was huge and can hold around 90 people. The hot tub/spa is inside of a a cool looking gazebo. Both are adjacent to each other and are outside. The beds are were comfortable. The rooms were decorated nicely. I am sure my wife and I will be back.
We live 200 + miles from St. Simon's Island, GA. Over 2 years ago we were so thrilled to find Best Western Plus in St. Simon's Island, GA. It has consistently been a restful, beautiful resort like atmosphere in every way. We stay poolside every time we come here 2 or 3 times a year. We refuse to stay anywhere else. On our first visit to St. Simon's Island we were placed in a different motel by booking.com because Best Western Plus was booked up. That motel was cheap and a great disappointment. We will NEVER stay anywhere in St.Simon's Island except Best Western Plus! When you go there, be sure to be treated to great breakfasts by Bubbles. She is a joy & wonderful asset to Best Western Plus. Thanks for another wonderful visit!
There was a problem with our first room and Lakeisha (?) took care of us immediately. Breakfast was good. Pool had an issue w/ LOUD pump... Hopefully that's been corrected. We did not need a handicapped room, but that's what we were in and it's a good setup if needed. You have to drive every where if you stay here.
The room was clean and spacious for 3. Plenty of towels. Pool area is very nice to sit out at night. Hotel is close to restaurants, grocery store and lots of reasonable restaurants. Easy check in and out. Free Breakfast was hot and good.
I like motor inns, those where one can park a car right in front of the room. It's simply more convenient. The problem is that in many locations, safety becomes an issue. Not so in St. Simons. It's about as safe a location as one could find anywhere. It's also pin drop quiet at night. The room and bath were both spotless. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was fresh and adequate. Lot of TV channels and strong wi-fi. The common areas such as the pool and gazebo were nicely added touches, as well. My room rate was discounted a bit because of my work. But even at regular rates, it's still an excellent value.
Spent one night at this establishment. We were welcomed by a super friendly front desk lady. The grounds were well maintained. The pool was warm and clean. The rooms were recently renovated. 2 miles away from the shops and restaurants on the island. Only recommendation would be to have microwave in the room.
Great staff! Great pool, and great room. Wish I could have stayed more than one night. Breakfast was also good! Beautiful accomidating room! Very comfortable beds! Me and my family will definitely be back!
Nicest stay at a Best Western I have ever had! The property is really nicely maintained, very pretty pool, spacious rooms and good breakfast. Friendly staff to top it off, a huge parking lot and an elevator to reach the rooms on the top floor. It's located in a quiet area but within short distance to everything. Wished we could have stayed longer.
It was my first time staying at a Best Western and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. My family and I stayed here in July 2018 and the hotel was booked to capacity. Nevertheless, the hotel staff was friendly, professional and helpful as best as possible, which was appreciated when traveling with young kids. Pros: For me, the hotel is a perfect distance to and from everything. The beach is a 10-minute or less drive. I preferred staying away from any potential rowdiness or noise that staying closer to the beach might've incurred. I also liked the pool at the BW, which I felt was the best thing they have to offer. It is big, clean and always had available seats and towels. I saw the pool guy either cleaning it or measuring the pH every morning, so that made me feel at ease. My kids did not want to leave the pool. My final pro is the community gym. Its about a 5 minute walk across the street and is totally worth the walk. Its spacious and filled with new equipment. Made me happy that I brought sneakers. Con: My only con, which was minor, is I felt the cleaning staff did not leave enough towels in the room and I found myself constantly searching for the cart to ask for extra towels. It was 4 of us in the room, so I just felt we should have 4 towels and 4 washcloths, but it was always short. Once I asked, they quickly gave me. Shout-Outs: Amber at the front desk makes the best chocolate chip cookies in the evening and is super friendly and knowledgeable on things to do around St. Simon Island. Ms. Kristy at the breakfast kitchen is the friendliest lady I know. Thank you for keep us fed in the early mornings.
The Best Western plus on St. Simons is a truly great deal on this beautiful small Island. It's relatively cheap and what you get for it is very nice. Clean and cozy rooms, good location, very nice pool area and a super friendly reception. What do you need more?
My husband and I took a small babymoon trip to St. Simon's Island. Upon arrival we were very pleasantly greeted by the woman at the front desk named Amber. There had been a mix up on our reservation which I believe had more to do with the website we booked it on than Best Western. She seamlessly accommodated us without even thinking twice. She was so friendly and helpful and really made what could have been a disappointing start to our trip, a pleasant one. We were both very thankful for her great customer service. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and quiet which was poolside. We enjoyed the pool too. Overall great stay and would definitely recommend.
We stayed at the Best Western Plus this past weekend and we are already planning another stay. The hotel was easy to find with plentiful free parking. No extra or hidden fees. It's not fancy, but it was very nicely appointed and very clean. We didn't spend much time in the room, but it was quiet and cozy. We rested well and felt safe and secure. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this highly to anyone traveling on a budget or to those that don't plan to hang around their room. Mostly, it was exactly as advertised and we were very happy with our choice.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay (double queen) here. The room was tidy and everything was clearly renovated fairly recently. The carpet wasn't sticky or smelly like some other beach hotels, and I loved the sliding bathroom doors. The pool area is to die for. The jacuzzi tub temperature was just right, not so hot that it hurts. Front desk help was great, I cut up with a girl named Amber (I think). She was hilarious. Give her a raise. Can't wait to come back!
Wonderful laid back island , clean and beautiful lovely marshes and sea birds. Would love to stay longer next time because the short period of time we totally shut and relaxed. Got to see a pretty lighthouse, concert on lawn and shopping was fun got to get a custom made sterling silver toe ring and went next door for a wonderful Italian ice!
I have to mention four people who were most accommodating, friendly and helpful during our first visit to GA. Front desk was Eva, Khalif and, at checkout, Jeramy. Breakfast assistant is this hotels ‘jewel'...Bubbles! She can definitely get your day off to the right start! Because of this, we decided to stay here on our way back from Charleston!
Nice hotel. Good service. Any complaints were fixed immediately. Breakfast was ok, lots to choose from but not as good as some other hotels we have stayed at.Very little fruit and the same choice of cereal every morning.. Overall it was enough to get us on the road.
The place was Amazing sweetest breakfast lady always ready and fresh tasted delicious!! The staff all were very professional Stacey, Carissa, Joyce, and Khalif were most helpful and my family will definitely be staying here again in the future!!!
Very good experience. Beautiful pool, clean rooms, good food and friendlt people. We will come back, our first time in the area and there were plenty of brochures in the lobby. But even more info in our room. Free coffee and cookkies was cool too.
My family stayed here for the weekend and our stay was amazing. Although we ran into an issue with our initial room not being properly cleaned, management and housekeeping (Clarissa) immediately corrected the issue. We were moved to another room, and also offered a credit for the inconvenience. That being said, the room was very clean and appeared to be newly renovated. The hotel is in a great location and has a super cute beach theme. The pool/hot tub area was awesome, and the breakfast was great. We will definitely be back!
I used to stay at this hotel 25 years ago when I was little so when we were planning a trip to St. Simon's for our own family I decided to try out this hotel again. I remember loving the pool as a kid and it remains the same! The rooms have been updated nicely, the lobby and breakfast area were both very clean. We enjoyed breakfast there each morning and the choices were great. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean and we met friendly families there each day. My only issue was a room with 2 queen beds was a little tight for our family of four, but we did notice that they have suites so the next time we come down we'll request one of those. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay and I would definitely recommend the Best Western on St. Simon's. Great vacation!
Our family of 6 was able to fit comfortably into a double Queen suite. The room layout was very nice, and better than a Marriott suite we've stayed at before. However, we had no bedding for the sofa bed and called repeatedly for the bedding and extra towels with no answer. The pool was beautiful, rooms were very clean, but poor service caused us not to enjoy our stay!
The staff goes over and beyond with their friendliness and customer service The room was very welcoming with no issues. The bed was very comfortable and spacious in the suite. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a great spot that is close to restaurants and night life.
Nicest Best Western I've eve stayed at. Newly renovated rooms. Very friendly staff. Large pool with jacuzzi. Premium location with beautiful landscaping. Plenty of parking. Rooms have several amenities.
We stayed in March for one night. The rooms are clean but not very big. It was already difficult to open two suitcases. But the first impression was nevertheless good. We had some issues with the TV and it was fixed directly. It was a plesant night and the breakfast was nothing special but clean and taken good care of. So when we left the hotel, we had a good feeling and said we would love to come back. But unfortunatley when we came home and did our credit card check, we saw that we had an additional $250 bill in addition to the room rate from this hotel. We called and were told we had smoked in the room. The only person that smelled of smoke was the man who repaired the TV. We don't smoke. The woman on the phone said she can't book it back, so she said we should go to our creditcard company and raise the issue there. Thanks Best Western for the paper work.
Rooms have been updated. Located in a business park, limited walking options. 5 min or less drive to restaurants. 10 min to shore and downtown. Decent pool. Rooms clean. Ample parking around hotel. Breakfast was ok. Internet was also good.
We had a sister trip to SSI and I can't BELIEVE that this is a Best Western. It looks so BEAUTIFUL! The pool is nice to relax at as well. The hotel is close to the center of the island so lots of shops and fun restaurants less than a mile away. We will be back!
After receiving confirmation to stay for our 54th anniversary and making a 9 hour drive to get there I was told "sorry we had a plumbing problem there are no rooms available" the next day I drove back to see if the problem had been fixed only to find that they were fully booked. The next day I received an email stating they had overbooked and I would receive a refund. What was the truth? I do not know!
Stayed here from Sun-Tues and then again Fri-Mon in mid April 2018. The first stay was decent. The breakfast during the week was stocked, the food attendant was very attentive and made sure everything was taken care of and the pool area was kept up nice. When we came back to stay Fri-Mon the stay was not as good. There were no pool towels in the pool area from Friday evening thru Sunday. I had to go tell the front desk. Sunday there were three hotel employees in the pool area (with four kids present) swearing and talking about “beating a co-workers a$$”. The breakfast attendant didn't keep up with her job. She was more interested in talking with other employees. Coffee was out, juice was out, yogurt was out, eggs and sausage wasn't refilled until she decided she wanted to stop talking. The hot tub was occupied by patrons who were smoking in the hot tub in front of staff who didn't stop it. This all in front of kids in the pool area. We won't be back to this hotel. Much nicer and better staffed hotels on the island we've stayed at before.
The front desk was the best thing in the motel. The girl that works the morning time was great. She should get a raise. And the guy at night was great too. Think there names was Eve and Kalif. I hope I'm right because they where the best. The hotel was good too. Housekeeping needs a little more work, But wasn't to bad. I will be back and I will tell all my friends about this little place.
Not the brand we normally choose, but it was fantastic! Great service. Nice breakfast. Wonderful people. The pool area and outdoors we just beautiful. Lots of families were stopping there on spring break and it was quiet and nice!
We stayed for 3 nights. The double queen room is very small, but clean. Hotel decor is contemporary, and the pool and hot tub are amazing. The breakfast was good. Kids enjoyed making waffles. The best part is the staff. Everyone is wonderful, kind, helpful. We will return, but get a suite next time. The regular room was way too crowded.
This property is conveniently location on St Simmons Island. We had a king suite. The pool area is beautiful. Breakfast was very good, eggs, sausage, waffles, vogurt, etc. The mattresses are very comfortable. This property is very beautiful. The safe and iron in our room were not working. There was a bag over the smoke dector. The hot water was barely luke warm.
We have rarely stayed at hotels with rooms with outside entrances, but this was a really nice, quiet facility. Attractive grounds, colorful decor, bigger-than-average pool. Rooms were just big enough, but not confining. Very comfortable beds. First time I've encountered shower shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers. Decent hot breakfast. Some housekeeping issues (no Kleenex one day, no soap the next) that were quickly resolved. Staff was polite and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
I stayed for 5 nights and it was everything a hotel should be. Clean, quiet, good beds, internet in room, delicious breakfast and great customer service. The location was convenient for exploring the barrier islands. The conference room was well appointed and adequate for meals and presentations.
eva at the front desk was great and was very pleasing to talk to. She helped us every time we needed it. Its a great place to stay. You couldn't ask for a better place, The pool was very lovely. The rooms was very nice and clean, It was a very easy check and out with Eva. She is a great person to have at the motel. I think she was there last year when we was down for vac.
We only stayed for one night but when we head back to Saint Simons we will definitely stay here again. Room seemed larger than most hotel rooms, exceptionally clean and the bed and pillows comfortable. Beautiful decor and plenty of bath supplies. The lady that checked us in on March 12 and out the next day was very cordial and well informed on the area. She made a great recommendation for lunch at Southern Soul. 5 stars to her as well ! There were a few folks who decided to get a party going out by the pool around 1:30 a.m. and it got a little loud. It kept me awake for about two hours - surprised nothing was done about it. I am sure I wasn't the only one who was disturbed. I will give this location a "quiet" rating overall though. I hope this was an isolated incident.
Stayed 3 nights and had zero complaints. Check in a breeze, room was clean. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast girl was super sweet every morning. Breakfast had good options. Make your own waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, toast, yogurt and coffee always available in the front desk area. Pool area was plenty of room, lots of chairs and tables. Was too cold for a swim this time though but hot tub was popular. Location was a quick ride to beach, pier area, and local shops. Would recommend for sure!
Great location, was central for a lot of attractions in St. Simons. The hotel recently had a face lift. Nice pool and hot tub. They were having hiring issues. Housekeeping was an issue. Didn't have our room cleaned for the 3 1/2 days there. The counter staff were AMAZING. They were working long hours, no relief and still were friendly and helpful. If they can fill the rest of the staff like the counter staff they will be dominant.
We arrived on 2/15/18 stayed for 5 nights. Couldn't find our reservations from booking.com & had to wait for a good while to find them. The office smelled bad like garbage the whole stay there. Couldn't get shampoo & conditioner out of dispenser in shower. Desk clerk came & unlocked dispenser that night.Next day after maids cleaned we had no towels & they put dispenser back together. Again no conditioner. Next day when we got back to room after 3:30 room wasn't cleaned & we had no toilet paper or tissue. Went to office to get some & they said they had none. My husband had to get napkins off coffee bar for toilet paper. Last night we were there the fire alarm went off. Lady in another room got burnt from water being to hot. Had steamed & smoked up room & fire Dept was there. My husband had warned me that the hot water was set very hot. Very high rates & the staff definitely needs some supervision. For the rates we expected better service. Very dissatisfied.
Front desk personnel and General Manager very personable and accommodating. Beautiful hotel set in a serene quiet location. Rooms with balconies overlooking beautiful pool and Jacuzzi underneath a sheltered gazebo. Breakfast was awesome, well stocked, with a variety of choices to include beverages. Hot coffee and fresh cookies always available in lobby as well. Housekeeping was always attentive to our needs and all were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Shawn in maintenance was so personable and helpful. Rooms were comfortable, quiet and well stocked. Off site work out facility was first class and within walking distance. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Very impressed with the professionalism and attitude of each staff member. Highly recommended. Thank you Kristi(breakfast), Khalif, Stacey, Eva, (Front desk personnel), Jeremy( General Manager), Anthony, Quaneisha, Stacey, Clarissa (housekeeping), Shawn (maintenance). Can't wait to return. Thank you. You guys are the best. Rock and Kathy Martin... Room 208 and 106....
We had a huge ice storm with extremely low temps for several days and the electrical power went out on most of the island. My wife requires oxygen 24/7 and while we had a a new generator, I did not want to take the risk so I called hotels on the island (the causeway to the mainland was closed) and found the Best Western. I drove to the property, talked to the booking desk and found they had a room and power. My wife and I stayed in a warm room which was bright, clean and the most polite and helpful people you could imagine. The breakfast was complete and great. This is an extremely clean and well operated hotel and the people are great and the prices very reasonable
I had a mix up on when I wanted to check out and the staff was extremely gracious dealing with my mistake. I'd definitely stay again as it's location is great and the room was comfortable and the price was reasonable.
If you're traveling along the I-95 corridor, and looking for a place to stop over, I want to recommend the Best Western Plus on Saint Simons Island. This quiet hotel is a great value. It is quiet and the rooms are luxurious. Enjoy a good nights rest!!!
This is by far my favorite hotel. The whole staff is great and will go out of their way to help you. The suites are great. The pool area is wonderful. Breakfast is decent. can not say enough about this hotel.
We were three couples staying two nights at Best Western Plus on St. Simon Island for New Year's. The lobby and rooms were very clean and well kept. Since the weather was bad we spent time in the breakfast area during the evening (playing cards) and the staff couldn't have been nicer! Both Eva and Anne were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and attendant each morning was always smiling.. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Super helpful staff. Well appointed and updated. They upgraded us to a suite in order to accommodate a pack and play. The room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly, but I suspect the hotel was short staffed due the holiday.
Stayed here one night on way to Hilton Head and was very happy. Room was clean with plenty of towels and comfortable beds. Reasonable too. The breakfast was only decent. It was not as good as I've had at other Best Westerns. I would recommend this for the location and cost. Will come back too.
The hotel was very nice. It had been renovated and the decor was done in a nautical style. Very nice. The rooms were immaculate, bathroom sparkled. Bed was very comfortable and room was a comfortable size. Our room faced the pool, if the weather was nicer we would have enjoyed it more. We purchased a groupon for this trip but I would definitely revisit this hotel.
This hotel was one of the nicest, best, cleanest places I have stayed. The room was so comfortable and the staff was so helpful. They suggested places to visit and places to eat. They also let me check in early at no charge. I will go back again in the near future. Probably will never use another hotel, it was that nice.
Hotel and staff were great, It was off season and enjoyed area with no crowds. Look forward to staying in season when weather is a bit more cooperative. Area has a lotto do, beaches golf shopping and dining.
We were heading to St. Petersburg and needed to stop for an overnight. Charming area close to stores and restaurants. Room was very spacious and clean. Also very quiet ! Breakfast could have been better : only somewhat scrambled eggs and slim sausage patties....no hash browns or sausage gravy with biscuits. We would stay again if in the area.
This was a very clean and comfortable hotel. We were stopping through to Florida and it was a little out of the way but the location was nice if we were going to stay longer. Breakfast staff was super nice and the breakfast was good.
St. Simons island is cozy and lovely! The beaches are beautiful!! A variety of stores to shop and the restaurants are amazing!!! We loved the crab cakes at Barbara Jeans, the blackened shrimp at the Half Shall and delicious drinks and appetizers st the Mallet Bay!! Also, the light house and the pier are a must to see too!! We stayed at the Best Western Plus! The staff was friendly and helpful!! Our room was clean and nicely decorated. The grounds and pool area were very pretty too. Alsi, this is the nicest Best Western Plus we have ever stayed!!
This gorgeous place is amazing! Loved the new rooms and all the comforts, Great breakfast, pleasantly surprised at all the items that were offered for breakfast. Very nice areas to sit and relax, use computer and printer(which I needed at last minute!) I cannot thank the staff enough, Jeremy, Caleb and great housekeeping staff! I will only stay here when I am at the islands again
Was there for a wedding, 4 day stay. Left my phone at home. Rental car gave me navigation . set it. Once I arrived at the hotel I could never figure out how to set it. Eva at the front desk was my lifesaver!!! She set it not once but daily for me so I could attend the wedding functions. She also inquired upon my return did I enjoy myself or have any problems getting to the various locations. I love this hotel!
This was our first time to St Simons Island AND first time to stay at this hotel. Beautiful hotel. Great clean rooms. Great staff. Great location. Wish the weather was warmer! Great place to visit! We can't wait to come back!
My family and I enjoy saint simons island. During this last year, our family has grown by 2 so we are now a family of 6. It is not always easy finding a hotel room that is big enough for a family with 4 children when we travel. Most hotel chains only allow 4 in a room and you have to get extra rooms. Thankfully, we have found the Best western plus here and it is GREAT for us :) :) :) We were able to get a suite that had 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and they even provided a "pack and play" crib for our baby. We had a very enjoyable weekend here and were very appreciative of the amenities and the friendly staff (especially the ladies running the breakfast area and the lady who checked us in and was at the front desk most of the weekend (i know i went to her several times for extra towels frequently and she was always very nice and understanding). This was a quiet hotel and the swimming pool was very nice. we look forward to using the pool on follow up visits, and we plan on coming here frequently now that we have found a place that has bigger rooms for larger families. My 4 children loved staying here and are already asking when are we going back to the beach. The prices are also very reasonable for a beach area / tourist area. This is NOT a brand new hotel and it has some wear but it is still a great hotel and we will definitely stay here again !!!
My wife and I stayed for three nights. The weather was not very good and we thought about leaving early. It was so nice here, we stayed the three days even though the weater was not very nice. Stacy at the front desk made the check in very pleasurable even though our room wasn't ready just yet. The room was spacious and very clean (hats off to the cleaning staff). The staff are friendly and polite. The breakfast was as good as it gets at a BW (Bubbles who makes the breakfast was a very nice and a lot of fun). The hotel is in very good shape and very clean. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Will definitely stay here again! EC
Beautiful hotel on a great island to visit. Clean rooms, nice breakfast area and beautiful pool area. It is in a convent spot to visit all of. St. Simons, Brunswick AnD the rest of the golden isles of GA.
We paid for a king but they didn't have enough housekeepers to clean us a room (according to the deskman) so we settled for a queen room. They also said the pool was heated which it wasn't. However the room was comfortable, clean, quiet for the most part (workers were renovating the room next to us!) Breakfast was just ok, rather bland. I think they need better management. We spent a lot of money there. The staff was nice!
We returned to this hotel and - again - enjoyed the quality of its location and service. A beautiful pool area, free easy parking, agreeable breakfast with large choices. Lots of TV channels. Many without commercials which for us Europeans are too frequent.
This hotel was a good choice for our family because we wanted to be not too far from the mall and other shops in brunswick, GA, but also close to the beach. We had some issues with the phone in one room not working, which was never addressed during our 4 day stay. Nonetheless, the breakfast was good and the rooms were very nice, clean, and spacious. If an on site fitness center or laundry room aren't preferred, it's a great choice!
I went to St Simons for business. Most folks stayed at the King and Prince Resort. That location is outstand bc of the shoreline and "its a resort". I booked the Best Western based on the hotel webpage. It doesn't do the place justice. You have to stay there to believe it. You could read a book in the breakfast area and be just fine. The room was well apportioned and the staff was willing to go over and above.
Remodeled rooms featured amenities that we have not experienced in many much more expensive hotels. Location was convenient and pool area looked amazing. While we did not eat breakfast the offerings were plentiful.
This hotel has been remodeled and is tastefully done. It was very clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. It is located close to restaurants and golf. Will definitely stay here again
Great clean option, reasonable location. Would definitely stay here again. Its not very close to the main attractions and beaches, which is a good thing if you're looking for a quieter area. Modern facilities and redone.
The hotel location was convenient and the facility was updated. Two-room suite with sitting area including sofa, desk, tv, coffee pot, etc., separate bedroom and bath. Very spacious. Attended conference and meeting facilities were in separate but connected building. Outstanding accommodation. In addition, I saw a bald eagle perched on a power pole near the marsh as I crossed the bridge to the island. Great weekend all around!
Nice hotel and good location. We have been there several times for work. This was the first time at this hotel. It was clean and had a friendly staff. Unfortunately we don't get much time to site see but the hotel is in a great location.
Nice suite..separate bedroom.2 tvs,2 a/c. Comfortable beds.Pillows not to comfortable.Room had little musty smell.. But that was right after hurricane,so they had there share of rain.Really nice staff..Breakfast ok.Wish they had oatmeal pre made..Pool outside.2 floors. Outside doors..motel style.Very clean..
This hotel met all expectations, even the free breakfast! it is a bit of a drive to the downtown and the pier but if you get downtown early you get a great parking place. The Best Western is perfect for any group. It was quiet and easy to get a good nights sleep.
Beautiful hotel and facilities, however, housekeeping needs quality control improvements. Food left in frozen up refrigerator. White bedspread soiled. Front desk promptly replaced the bedspread upon request. We WOULD stay in this hotel again.
Clean, comfortable and close to stores and beach area. Pool area at back of hotel. Breakfast was varied with eggs, sausage, yogurt, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and toast as well as coffee and juices. nd delicious.
It was a good price and great location convenient to the wedding and reception venues we were attending. Centrally located on the island. Staff was awesome with getting us in our room early and quickly.
though a little cramped, the decor was lovely for a tropical locale.. Nice clean bathroom. All necessary toiletries. Breakfast choices were boring... Sausage and scrambled eggs EVERY Day for 5 days.. :(:(:( Not enough USA Today newspapers to go around. Overall the place was very nice and well maintained.
I have stayed at several Best Westerns over the years, but this one was clean, well decorated and the staff was courteous and helpful. Since I apparently need more characters to post this, it was great, great, and great.
Was amazing, loved it. We went down to run a half marathon and the beds were BEYOND amazing. The view of the redone pool was fabulous and relaxing. The front staff was so kind and remembered us when checked out and asked how the race was-such a nice touch. We were unable to eat breakfast due to our early start (no fault of the hotel) but enjoyed it Sunday before we left and the coffee was GREAT. Thank you for such a great place to come "home" to after our half marathon! Rooms were clean and super cute!!!
Nice hotel with updated rooms and lobby. We stayed in a very roomy suite that was a very reasonable price. Lots of breakfast options... a few hot items. The pool and hot tub are nice - they even offer pool towels. However they do need to clean the leaves out of the pool.
Small hotel packed with all the amenities of home with an amazing and beautiful part of the world. The swimming pool is awesome, I spent as much time there as possible. People here are courteous and great! Cant ask for anything more...
We had stayed at this hotel several times several years ago. It has now been remodeled and is better than ever! The location is convenient to the beach and restaurants. The breakfast is good, and the pool area is beautiful.
This is a resort motel. Everything was very clean & had a wonderful beach decor. St. Simon's Island is an awesome place to visit & it is our getaway place now. We plan to always at this motel in the future.
Staff was terrific, breakfast was great, room had been tastefully updated. The hotel is older but our room and the lobby were updated with lovely, seaside decor. The gentleman at the front desk was so helpful and let us enjoy the complimentary breakfast even after it had ended. The location was pretty and seemed safe. Bed was comfortable. Overall it was definitely worth the money.
The staff was pleasant, helpful and made every effort to make your stay a comfortable one. Rooms are small but good for 2 people. Bed comfortable; bathroom modernized. dining decor is inviting nautical theme; the breakfast selection was wonderful. From eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, pastries, to fresh waffles. Something for everyone. Walking distance to grocery store and food. Not the Ritz but value for our stay and purpose was just right. Minor issue was peeling of ceiling in our room and unkept business lot behind hotel.
Usually last minute travels you can't expect much in the way of hotels, you get what you get and its usually a bit pricey. Best Western was reasonable, clean, staff was friendly and it included breakfast and the rate was really reasonable. We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Saint Simon Island.
quality of room was excellent service was very good would like to go back next year and revisit this area of Georgia again. We were very pleased with all we encountered. The area we had chosen was central to all we wanted to see and we did accomplish our goal.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, professional and enjoyable to interact with. Breakfast had a nice variety and was fresh and plentiful. If I went back to St Simons Island, I would be pleased to stay here again. This was a joint business/couples trip.
Hotel staff was wonderful! The hotel has recently been updated and everything was fresh and clean. The pool was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here again. No complaints!
I travel for a living and I had to come here for a night when my job extended. This place is not big, but, as they say, what's there is choice. The room was small but clean as a whistle and full of up-to-date amenities. The room was fresh, not dank, like you will often find on the coast. One of my pet peeves with hotels is lack of electrical outlets (always bring your own surge protector so you'll have enough). There are even charge ports here. The room reminded me of an Ikea apartment. The staff is great. They'll do everything they can for you. The bathroom was perfect, no tricky showers or other oddities that you find in other places. Stay here! You won't regret it.
It was very nice. Service was great. Rooms was very up to date and clean. IT was close to the light house and many of the sights. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I will be going back. Great people that work there.
My family and I visited the hotel on our return trip from Florida. The rooms seem recently updated with a smart sence of style. The pool and hot tub are amazing and the staff goes out of its way to make you familiar with the area. It seemed like most of the rooms were booked showing many other travelers share my opinion.
In general was ok , Did not find helpful information about the different tourist places. Very clean please and nice stay for the price. Location was not perfect but was just ok. Needed to drive to go to the village where is the main touristic place from the island.
Overall my stay was great. There needs to be more attention paid to the exterior appearance of the hotel. Elevator and ice machines need to be more accessible from 2nd floor, I had to walk from my room on one end of the hotel to the other end to have acess to elevator and ice machine. There were spider webs all over the exterior that need to be cleaned off. The pool area (located underneath giant live oaks) needs to be maintained several times a day. Availability of pool towels need attention. We spent a lot of time at the pool and there was never any towels in the towel box. Landscape of pool area needs attention!
Our Vacation was spent at St. Simons Island Georgia and at the Best Western Plus at St. Simons. This Hotel is beautifully located and is ran by some of the kindest and friendliest staff that we have ever encountered while on Vacation. The Management and Staff go out of their way to may your stay enjoyable...and we wanted for nothing while we were there!! An excellent Hotel!!
We actually stayed here four years ago when it didn't belong to Best Western. Back then I would've rated it a 2.75 due to the dirtiness and cosmetic issues. The property since being bought by BW is now Beach Chic with beautiful teal and coral colors. The staff (which was the only saving grace 4 years ago) is still as smiling, and welcoming, and friendly as they were last time. Pool area is beautiful with the live oak and moss and gazebo hot tub. While this hotel is located a little bit out of the main attraction areas like the pier/lighthouse areas, it doesn't detract from the stay on the island. The price point is reasonable and with the renovations and improvements, it is worth it. Also the breakfast area is bright, clean, with a good selection of proteins and carbs and can seat around 40. Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful hotel, just updated. Rooms were clean, bright and nicely appointed. Breakfast room and lobby were also clean bright and beautifully decorated. Breakfast in the morning was pretty substantial and the staff were very helpful. Pool is large and has a nice large hot tub area. Location was excellent close to center of island. Would definitely stay here again on business or pleasure.
This is a beautiful facility which was renovated last year. Reception was great and very helpful. The breakfast was as advertised. Room was nicely decorated but was not clean. Both my sister and I had allergy problems overnight. We did not realize the room was the problem until later in the week when we stayed at another motel and had no allergy problems. The carpet was dirty but we thought when the room was clean the next day; things would be better. However the maid service still not there at 4:30 PM. We had waited 30 minutes for them to get to our room and were tired and did not want to wait any longer. We got clean towels and did not get the room serviced. Later in the day we went thru the breakfast area to the lobby and the garbage from the morning had not been emptied. The room smelled bad. I do not know when maintenance is scheduled but there were several areas outside that needed some maintenance. We like the location of this motel but will not stay there again.
Much improved over years past. The decor is quite nice. The pool has been re-done, and if you're lucky enough to share it without low-class parents who let their children behave wildly and without proper supervision, it's great. It felt as if they were trying to skimp on housekeeping service. In general, the crews did a very good job but there were not enough to take care of the property in a timely manner. We were often waiting for our room to be cleaned until well after 4PM - very inconvenient when you'd like to be getting ready for dinner or have evening plans.
Nice hotel but not for $200 per night. Rooms too small to walk around at all. Staff only offered towels the next day. They did not empty trash etc. The pool is nice. The guests were friendly. Other hotels in the area are a better option for that price.
Annie at the front desk is awesome. Rooms are very clean and stylish. Checking in and out was super easy. and the breakfast was excellent! Love the sausage and gravy and I never eat that ever. Fiance loved the waffles. Great all around experience.
Nice cool rooms - awesome after 90 degree days! Very comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Appreciate the complimentary breakfast! They went out of their way to make our family reunion successful! Friendly staff - front desk & housekeeping. Would definitely stay again.
Stayed at the Best Western in St. Simon. The room was great. The morning staff person who was in charge of the breakfast was delightful. Her attitude made my day. The Front Desk person gave us fun information that was extremely useful. The pool area was very clean. Great place to stay and a good location.
From the minute we arrived, we felt so welcome! When we checked in we mentioned being in town for a swim meet. As other swimmers arrived, they were all greeted warmly and wished good luck. When we found out breakfast wouldn't start until after we had to leave for the meet, the person at the front desk made sure that fruit, cereal, and yogurt would be available for us and that the coffee was fresh. The rooms aren't huge, but are very comfortable. Housekeeping was generous with towels since we had lots of long-haired swimmers, and we appreciated that! The pool is lovely. Will definitely stay here again.
This place was very cute and ideal for our overnight stay in St. Simons Islands. The room was spacious and grounds were well taken care off. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying for a few nights out on the islands.
This is a two-story small hotel on main street on St. Simons. It is rather secluded which makes it quiet. There is not much traffic passing through on this street. It is right next to the Holiday Inn Express. The views from this hotel are nothing to shout about. I would ask for a room on the first floor facing the pool. The pool is large for a most small hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated in modern motif. The room size is typical. The bathrooms are adequately sized. The beds are comfortable but I would bring my own pillow if you do not like soft pillows. The is a dresser of sorts to place your clothes. The value for our room was reasonable given we arrived in high season. The breakfast offered was ample . . coffees, breads, juices, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruits, etc. The breakfast is served near the reception area. Cookies are provided in the reception area in the afternoon. The hotel is within a short driving distance to Redfern Village which has shops, restaurants, and local businesses. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cannot say enough good things about this hotel!!! We absolutely loved staying here and can't wait to go back. First of all, it is not on or near the beach so don't stay here if that's what you're looking for. However, if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing tropical paradise........please book a room or a suite at this hotel! The decor is modern and updated. The bed was so comfortable! You will love the spacious bathroom and all the storage provided. The pool area with the hot tub in the gazebo is fabulous!!! Breakfast was great with lots of choices and such a precious, sweet young lady in attendance!!! Front desk staff was friendly and helpful!! You will not be disappointed if you stay here!!
The room was very clean and attractively decorated. The pool area was nice with a gazebo and plenty of shady places with tables. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to all activities on the island.
Our stay was great. No problems loved the hotel. We stayed during the week and the hotel was very quit. We were able to relax and have quality time. This hotel had the best pool of all the ones we have stayed at in St. SImons.
It is like a Plantation house! Our stay was amazing from the time we entered until the time we sadly left our vacation. The desk associate ( I don't remember her name) was very welcoming and accommodating. Loved the Yogurt machine and toppings as well as the breakfast attendant, Bubbles! She was so engaging with everyone. The pool area was fantastic and some great restaurants nearby. A short drive to the beach. We enjoyed the large suites, that are basically two rooms. We will certainly visit again!
This was a comfortable, clean hotel with a nice pool and a great breakfast. The Staff was friendly and parking was easy. It was reasonably priced and in a convenient location. We would stay here again
Great hotel for our whole family that includes my 2 year old. Spend a lot of time by the pool relaxing ! Love the size of the room and the decor is nice. It's in a nice quiet location but not far from all the entertainment.
Wow! What a nice surprise! The hotel was so nice. The room was large and comfortable. The decor was modern and vibrant. I was so impressed by the remodeling and redesign. I wish all hotel rooms used this plan. The bathroom was so large and spacious! I love the shelving in the bathroom for your clothes and personal items along with the ironing board and iron. With the dressing area in the bathroom, all luggage stays there which allows the room to stay tidy and uncluttered. Also the barn door is a great space saver. The breakfast area and business center is beautifully decorated with a lot of attention given to detail as well as function. Except for an unexplained, errant noise that must have come through the plumbing system, it was quiet and relaxing---- I was skeptical since this hotel had exterior rooms and we were pool side. Nice stay! Staff was awesome. We will definitely stay again.
Took my son for an overnight on the Island last minute on a budget, but got more than expected. Great pool, clean rooms, friendly staff, and bfast on par with Hampton, Springhill Suites. Recommended!!
The staff is warm and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Breakfast had variety and was good. We'll stay here again. We were very pleasantly surprised that Best Western was such a pleasant experience.
Very updated and nice. The breakfast was great and filling. Not just your typical "hotel breakfast". Fresh fruit. Eggs, bacon and biscuits. Juice is provided for breakfast and then the rest of the day tea and lemonade is served. Fresh baked cookies too!! The rooms are updated and very nice. The pool is fantastic!! Very large and even a hot tub. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will stay here again.
Loved the pool! Breakfast was as expected, the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach is not very far from the hotel at all and there are many restaurants in the area. We will be visiting again soon!
We showed up 30 minutes after Check-In time to be sure our rooms would be ready and we could unload our cars. One room was told to be ready and the other hadn't been done yet but the housekeeping staff was standing around in the lobby. When we went to the rooms, neither were ready and the one they said was ready hadn't been touched. Once we finally got our rooms, everything was pretty good. The Jacuzzi was broken the first night but they fixed it the next day. A group of teenagers from an Atlanta-area church stayed one night during our three-night stay and were rowdy at the pool and took over the breakfast area the next morning. They were very rude but the staff handled them pretty well. As far as staying here again, we will always stay here. The hotel is clean, kept well, and is beautiful. I've already recommended this hotel to others and will continue to.
For starters, get rid of the ticks. In our 7 night stay, we found 6 ticks in our room. Second, train your staff on how to operate the handicap pool lift and also get a handicap pool lift that works. I am wheelchair bound and one of the big reasons we booked this hotel was for its pool accessibility. As we prepared to go to the pool, we asked the attendant for the use of the lift. The attendant did not know anything about it. We were handed the battery and told we could operate it ourselves as he didn't know anything about it. After some trial and error, my husband was able to operate the lift. This was all capped by the fact that the lift stopped working and would not come out of the pool. I was in the pool without the ability to get out. Luckily, my husband and another guest were able to help me out of the pool. When we told the desk what happened, they offered no apology and did not seem concerned. This, to me, seems like a serious issue that the hotel needs to remedy. The third and final issue was out of the 8 days we were there, our room was serviced 4 times. Even when the room was serviced, it was extremely inconsistent. Several days we were left without wash cloths or various other items. It was kind of a joke between us to see what item would be left out that particular day
This hotel was very nice & quite. It was tucked away in a cul de sac & no traffic. I loved the quite effect of no traffic. The room was very nice & comfortable, we slept very well. We would recommend it.
Day staff didn't know what time the trolley was picking us up. My nephew didn't tell the safd when, were.he just gave a time.. I don't believe it was a serious problem... evening staff was kind and helpful... We would stay there again.. Beautiful clean updated and very comfortable!!!
Newly remodeled, elegantly furnished and decorated, quiet location, wonderful pool and spa, nice breakfast. Very pleasant stay! St. Simons is a charming island with very picturesque neighborhoods and lots of choices for dining in the village center.
We stayed here last August after a mild hurricane has just come through. Room, breakfast and view were all extremely nice. The only problem I had with this hotel is the cleaning of pool area after the storm. It was closed due to the moss from the trees. I actually drank my morning coffee and watched the staff literally do nothing for hours to clean up the situation. The sad part was it would have took about two hours to clean up but the pool area and it ended up being closed all day. I watched one man finally give up and set out a table for his family. Also, there were limbs were through out the parking lot that we had to dodge just to park. Again it would have only took about an hour to clean up. So unless something has changed do not stay here during a storm or you can hang up enjoying the pool.
I wanted to get away to St. Simon's Island for a quick birthday/business retreat. I did not end up staying at Best Western, but the front desk attendant, Stacey, did not turn me away with a casual "Have a nice night" reply. She assisted me in finding a place to stay that was within my budget and nearby. She is truly a gem! She went above and beyond by calling the other place, giving them my name, printing directions, and welcoming me to the island. Stacey is the epitome of customer service and southern hospitality. For those whom are fortunate to stay at Best Western Plus, she alone is worth the visit!
Loved the pool and breakfast was really tasty. Very kind front desk staff and breakfast staff - thank you for a great stay! I stayed for business for three weeks and the staff made sure to accommodate any issues.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Saint Simons Island. The room was nice. Everything worked. Everything was clean. The staff were friendly at every encounter. I highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed at this hotel for several weeks and the staff made the stay extremely pleasant. The staff was always friendly and helpful - going above and beyond what was expected. A full breakfast was served daily by our chef, always with a smile and energetic good morning. The rooms were in great condition, nicely furnished, and always clean. The outdoor pool was an unexpected benefit, especially during the warm springs days. And, the photos posted on the website are accurate!
During our first visit we did not take advantage of the ample breakfast available, but this time was amazed at the wide selection, the well maintained dining area, and the overall helpfulness of the kitchen staff.
We were very surprised to find out that this hotel was not totally built new from the ground up, but a renovation of an old hotel. The renovations were so good we thought this was a newly built Best Western. Service was great at the desk and in the breakfast area. Hot breakfast was very good, with many hot choices. Very convenient to many places we wanted to see. Definitely recommend; we stayed 2 nights and were very pleased.
I haven't stayed in a Best Western in a long time, but I think of it more as a motel and a budget chain. This is a Best Western Plus, and I'm not sure what the Plus stands for but the decor in the hotel was modern and chic, and the pool area very pretty with a giant live oak draped with Spanish moss and a hot tub in a gazebo. Breakfast was typical of a chain restaurant but satisfying, and the way the breakfast area was decorated (again, quite stylish) made the experience better. The room was on the small side, which was fine. The bathroom was very clean and looked recently renovated. Often in cheaper hotels, the bathroom suffers from grime or missing grout but this one was nice and new. My only complaint is that the pillows were quite lofty and we could hear other guests passing by outside, which meant I didn't sleep as well as I had in other recent hotel stays.
My husband and I had go get away for a weekend to visit one of our friends, who lives in Brunswick so I found the Best Western and booked it. We arrived early and the room was not ready so we went down to the pier. We got back to the hotel about 3:30 and the room was ready. The room was nice and we had a view of the pool, which was nice.
Numerous problems, doors wouldnt shut or stay closed, therefore loosing privacy. Housekeeping walking in on me while I was in my underwear. Returning at day's end, locked out of room...and housekeeping didn't return to clean room. Front desk required us to make several trips to them in order to rectify their staff problems. Room had such potential, if only human errors had not followed along.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this motel -- great price; great location; clean, quiet and comfortable rooms; and a wonderful outdoor pool/spa. The breakfast was also quite good and the staff were very friendly. The perfect place for our visit to St. Simons Island!
Pleasantly surprised to stay at this Best Western. The rooms were quite nice and the bathrooms intelligently laid out (sliding door versus a swing door that takes up too much room in the room). Nice beds (although softer pillows would help), and quiet HVAC system helped get to sleep. Poor and patio area very nice for relaxing and wine although weather did not cooperate as far as temperature. The staff here were universally pleasant and helpful. The happy woman running the breakfast bar deserves a raise for being just wonderfully cheerful each morning, making everyone feel great to start the day. A good value on an expensive island.
Everything was wonderful. Breakfast was amazing. Much better than expected. The front desk staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. The hotel rooms are beautifully decorated and the grounds are kept clean.
This was a beautiful hotel, rooms were very nice and comfortable. Unfortunately the room was never made up for our next day stay. The hotel seemed to have a staffing problem that day with housekeeping. Would stay there again if the problem dosen't happen again. Breakfast was the best of our other Best Western stays.
We stayed at this hotel for a few days over Spring Break. On the surface it looks great - a BW that has been recently refurbished, very nicely I might add, with a large swimming pool and patio area that really attracted us, as we have three children who love to swim! The trouble is, when a hotel upgrades itself like this, it REALLY needs to upgrade the staff too. Sadly this one did not, and it showed in several ways which I will come to. Firstly, we booked a two queen bed room, and it was teeny tiny, VERY claustrophobic. They had availability for a 2 room suite for the last 2 of our 4 day trip, and we moved into that gratefully. Basically, think of the old Best Western motel rooms, with the massive air conditioner under the window - despite the refurb, this is what you get, and with a 2 room suite you get two old rooms knocked into one suite, in fact the front door of the second room is still there behind a curtain :) Still, I would say unequivocally that unless you are 2 people who are very comfortable being crushed together at all times, book a suite!! We did not have enough towels, and had trouble getting more. After the first night, we had to ask twice if housekeeping were coming to our room because we had seen them about but they never cleaned our room or replaced towels. We were promised TWICE that yes they were.... eventually we were told that they were short staffed, and that no, nobody would be servicing our room. We had to fetch our own towels. The pool area, though pretty, was dirty. It needed sweeping badly, the pool should be skimmed every single day, and the walk up to the jacuzzi was also like this. In addition, the trash cans on the patio were overflowing, with trash around the floor. In a place like South Georgia, that's just going to attract bugs and nasties in my opinion! I told the front desk staff, and eventually, somebody did pick up the trash, though nothing else was attended to. The Pool Towel stand was always empty - in fact at one point I felt so sorry for the front desk lady who was doing a great job of fielding the complaints she had written all over post-it notes on her desk, that I offered to go put some towels out for her, which I did. When we moved into the suite, two lamps had missing light bulbs. One of them was on the floor by the window, smashed. I phoned front desk, I asked the receptionist directly, and eventually, on our last night, I collared an elusive housekeeper and asked again to have some light in our bedroom. Maintenance did come and replace the bulbs, but left the broken one where it was. In the suite which sleeps 5, we were given 3 bath towels and 1 hand towel. When my husband queried this with a housekeeper he was told they were all in the laundry, but we would get some towels shortly. Seriously... every towel in the hotel was in the laundry?!??? We did not get towels. I had to walk down again to front desk, and pick up some towels, and carry them back to the room. The complimentary breakfast was the usual, nothing special about it but nothing bad either. Kristie the hostess was cheerful and very friendly. The breakfast room had a permanent smell of sulfurous eggs - i'm not sure if it was food or the local swamps :) I would like to mention Anne who worked the front desk - she was the only member of staff who tried very hard to fix the problems we had, and seemed to care about what she was doing. Basically, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again until I knew they had employed more cleaning staff, bought more towels, employed someone to maintain the grounds and the basic room maintenance (like light bulbs!) YOu are not running a basic motel there anymore Best Western - if you want to call the hotel a Best Western PLUS, you really need to add staff who are better trained and more plentiful!
Staff is always pleasant. The location is great and the price is right for a one or few nights stay. It's not far from restaurants or sightseeing locations. Room is always clean and the decor is modern.
Came here to check in. I called at 12:30 and they told me my room was available. It's now 3:50 and they're saying my room isn't ready. Check-in is at 3pm. So I'm paying for a room from 3pm on, and I'm getting screwed out of an hour. We have to be at a concert in an hour. Terrible service.
I highly recommend this hotel overall. Rate was very reasonable. The complex was recently completely updated. Very cute, tasteful and modern. The room was great, bed comfortable. The room size was "cozy", not a lot of extra space. We never tried breakfast which was included. The pool area was very pretty. The staff were pleasant and professional. Housekeeping forgot to clean our room which was a negative. The manager, Cathy, was also very professional and credited us the next day when we checked out. We definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you are on a budget.
Staying here while we work on Condo that was messed up during the hurricane and it is the best day so far on the island had problems with all the other ones but so far this one is very pretty and has the most beautiful swimming pool on the island will stay again. Housekeeping needs to watch for hairs in bathroom (I'm also OCD ha) but still beautiful room and bathroom, very modern and up to date. Great location. Jacuzzi in a gazebo!
I had a most enjoyable stay. Room was immaculate. Hotel and grounds are pleasing to the eye. I slept very well. I was particularly impressed with the visual appearance of the hotel and pool in light of its recent exposure to Hurricane Matthew and the fact that at least two rooms had suffered damage. Staff and contractors obviously worked hard to return hotel and grounds to conditions prior to the storm. Every staff member I encountered was hospitable, friendly, willing to go out of their way to assist me, and professional. I notified the staff of a leaking air conditioner outside one of the rooms next to me than was leading water all over the walkway outside the rooms. The problem was fixed that day, and when I returned, the walkway was dry. For the price and quality of the facilities, I'd highly recommend staying there. I know I will on my future trips there.
We were attending a wedding and had made reservations at an upscale hotel on the beach. Hurricane Matthew hit and therefore the beach was not a good option. I changed to the Best Western since it was less than a mile away from wedding site and less than 1/3 the cost of other hotel and 1/2 the cost of all other hotels in the area. Expected a plain room but we were only going to sleep there so as long as it was clean we would of been satisfied. It was quite the pleasant surprise when the room turned out to be very nice, clean and really cheery. They may have been remodeled recently and what a great job they did. Great use of space, good lighting, loved the cubbies instead of cabinets and drawers. Had everything you needed and included breakfast. So glad I switched for this occasion.
Perfect room , loved the decor, went swimming in pool hot tip not open yet hotel is brand new , not even finished yet. Close to everything we wanted. Loved the village and beautiful beaches Will come again !!!!
Very nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and a good value for the money. Could have done better on the breakfast bar. Was just ok. However, we would stay there again. I needed instructions to find a certain location, the lady at the desk not only told me where to go but also printed the instructions.
We booked through Hotwire for our trip only to get there and be told we only have 1 night showing on their side which we were charged for 2 nights on our credit card. We also asked for a room on the bottom floor which we did not get. Finally after a hour of waiting to see who messed up our plans we get a room. Only to get to the room and there was like 20-25 men standing around the rooms drinking! We went back to the office finally got a different room, then made it to our spot like a hour and a half later. Went out throughout the town did our fishing and what not only to go back to the room at like 7 ish pm and we were locked out. Had to reload everything back up and go back to the office to have our room keys rekeyed!! Only to wake up the next morning with red bug bites all over our bodies!!!! Never ever again will we stay at a best western plus!
We were at St Simons for a conference. The event was at the King and Prince. We were able to cut our lodging cost by a third at this location. Savings are good and great when we could save and still have great accommodations. The property was just updated. Even though they were still wrapping up the upgrade, the campus was clean, neat and very nice. The upgrade is wonderful. The breakfast had protein options which mean a lot to us. It is a great blend of comfort and modern decor.
We stayed one night & wished we'd stayed longer. The room was fantastic, well decorated, modern & comfortable. We had a room overlooking the pool, which looked a nice place to be. The breakfast was good with good variety. The staff were friendly, polite & welcoming. We will return
I will be staying again when visiting they earned my loyalty . Rooms were comfy and contained all the amenities. Pool area under the large moss covered trees was a great place to enjoy the complimentary continental breakfast. Friendly staff and great housekeeping also.
This place looks totally different from the tired old look it used to have. Rooms have been updated to a modern, Euro look. The lobby and eating area looks terrific! Location is excellent and pool has even been redone.
I stayed at this hotel with my fiance a couple of weeks ago. We were on a tight budget as we are getting married in 2 months and the room price fit our budget. We are getting married on Jekyll island and had to come view the location for our special day. I can not brag enough about this place! The rooms were adorable and the pool area was absolutely gorgeous! Will definitely recommend and visit this hotel again!
Quiet location close to the pier on St Simons Island. Just a quick getaway for me and my 5 yr old daughter and we will return. Loved the pool....very quiet, attractive location. Staff was courteous.....at breakfast in the lobby both morning we were there and we enjoyed it both times.
My wife and I took a vacation over Labor Day weekend. I didn't want to spend Labor Day weekend prices on hotels on the island, so I was quite relieved to find this location. It just finished a renovation about two weeks ago and the place really feels it. The lobby is very nice decorated and the rooms were spacious and very clean. We were thoroughly impressed with all the features, the decorations and definitely enjoyed the pool, which was right outside our room. The hotel staff was courteous and attentive when we asked for assistance as well. We enjoyed the location as well, although at night we drove past the turn a few times even after having been there, so just be aware of that! The ONLY downside was the breakfast. The food was decent (eggs, sausage, waffles) but there was no fresh fruit and the organization of the space meant there was pretty cramped quarters getting in line to get food or getting out of line to a seat. Saturday it wasn't a problem, but Sunday it was pretty bad. On top of the large amount of people in the very narrow corner for food, the air conditioning must've been on the fritz because it was hot in there. My wife was fine with it, but I couldn't take it so we left to get food elsewhere on the island. That's the only drawback, everything else was wonderful. We WILL definitely stay here again, hopefully with the renovations they don't skyrocket their prices, because they could easily become the best kept secret on the island. Thanks Best Western!
This hotel is a winner. The staff is great; experts at customer service and so accommodating. The hotel itself has undergone a renovation, so is sparkling new, clean and comfy. Pool area is beautiful. Highly recommend.
Amazing place! Very quiet and peaceful location that's extremely convenient to the beach and plenty of restaurants. The staff is so friendly and always made sure to greet us and make sure we were doing well. Our room was so clean and cozy, and the bathroom is nicer than ours at home. Didn't actually use the pool due to a short stay but the outdoor area is very nice and tranquil. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful hotel on the island!!
Due to the Hurricane here in our area, we lost power at the house for almost 48 hours and needed a place to stay. It worked out that there was vacancy. Easy prices, clean, modern all the things you want in a hotel and more.
Pleasantly surprised ! Took my wife for a weekend getaway and this place was extremely clean, the decor was spot on and the color scheme was beautiful! Even the bathroom was updated, everything thing was well designed. And the best part was that the price was right!
This is a great place. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The rooms was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The pool was big enough that you don't feel crowded. The island inn is also affordable for everyone. Thanks to the staff for such a wonderful stay.
The hotel was just finishing up renovations during my stay. The room was nice with updated bathroom and comfortable beds. They have plently of outlets and USB chargers throughout the room along with a small frig good A/C. Free Wi-Fi was also decent speed to stream movies etc. The pool area is great and I will stay here again as it was a great deal for the price when everything else was sold out. I wouldn't pay attention to previous bad reviews before the remodel.
I read other reviews and saw the horrible pictures and did not want to stay here! But we had no choice because there were no vacancies anywhere else. I am pleased to say that they have remodeled the rooms and the pool area, and are presently working on the lobby. It was very nice and we will stay again when we are up there. I didn't get picture of the room, but it is decorated very tastefully! The bathroom is great! Here is picture of the pool area.
no elevator and no landings on stairs 15 stairs straight up which with luggage not a good experience shower was awful. nothing worked and front desk seemed unconcerned. rate differed from that quoted by phone, but they did correct when it was called to attention. lady handling the adjustment did not seem pleased she had to correct. not a very pleasant experience.
I have stayed at this place on many occasions but will never stay there again. I booked though Priceline so the room was pre-paid. The hotel charged my credit card for $93.24 and has never returned repeated phone calls and messages. There was absolutely no incidental charges and no excuse to charge anything to the card. The worst part is that they WILL NOT return any phone calls to help with getting resolved. Obviously the place is on the verge of bankruptcy and is desperate for money. Avoid this horrendous and filthy place at all costs.
