"A Great Place to Stay!"
Alexis M, 10 Octobre 2024

We were lucky to be upgraded on arrival to a room with a view! (Sorry I didn't take a photo.) All staff so pleasant, courteous, helpful. The breakfast bar had many options, and a great coffee machine, my cafe mocha was delicious. Convenient for visiting FDR Presidential Library & Museum, Val-Kill, Culinary Institute of America. We stayed for two nights and I will definitely be coming back!

"Mold and dirt smells"
markkutt, 07 Octobre 2024

Quiet location but strong mold smell in room Breakfast was ok Parking ok Shower water pressure was very low Price was quite high but hotel is quite old. Smell in our room was so strong that we had trouble in breathing I was not happy about price performace of this hotel

"A mixture but ask the management if you have a concern. They listen."
SeniorTravelerTF, 22 Septembre 2024

The management, who we interacted with several times over five days, was very accommodating. The breakfast area was very clean and bright, overlooking the river. We had a king room with a jetted tub - that was so stained with mineral deposits it looked infectious. Floor of the very roomy shower was slippery to the point of being dangerous. The floor in our sitting room was so uneven that the drawers in the bureau would not stay closed. Bed and heating/cooling comfortable.

"Totally Disappointed for 1st visit"
sheri s, 06 Août 2024

1st time visiting Hyde Park location and I booked mostly because of the pictures on line. I was shocked & disappointed when I arrived. I noticed all of the windows leading to the front desk were really filthy and the cement stairs were chipped badly, bags of garbage and dirty linens laying near the front door. I checked in but noticed how hot it was in the lobby, the front desk said the air was working in the rooms. It was very humid in the lobby. As I walked down the hallway, I noticed it was very humid and the windows were dirty and buggy inside and out. I noticed cobwebs on the ceiling with a few large bugs. I was very disappointed in my king water view room. The carpet felt moist and dewy, both pieces of Funiture were stained (I brought a sheet to sit on the couch). the bathroom was outdated with the large tub had bright white calk all around it. The sink faucet leaked, 2 waste cans were rusty and gross. The shower drainage was loose and tiny gnats were flying around. the drain must have been a dirty drain so I informed the mgr he needed to pour bleach down the drain, but not when I am there. Everything in the room was just gross and falling apart. the lamps, the furniture, the whole thing. They informed me they are going to renovate in Nov but that isn't an excuse as to why no one cleans during the day at all. First hotel I have stayed at that you don't see anyone around cleaning. I would have loved to have power washed the windows on the outside of the building. It is such a shame that this place looks like it does. They need to have some basic cleaning done before they should charge the prices they do. it isn't worth the money at all. The only good thing was the porch you can sit on over the wappinger creek. that was about it. the breakfast was basic and the eggs were over cooked and dry. They seem to want to try but they need to try harder. I think people are afraid to speak up and complain!!

"Serene Setting, u pique"
Renelda H, 06 Août 2024

The setting is serene and clean but not “sterile”. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Other visitors were quite interesting…perhaps because of its unique historical element, seclusion of its creek views, waterfalls and birds. We saw a heron, geese, ducks and ducklings, in plain view. Pet friendly, we also met bikers touring the rail trail, retirees visiting friends, curious tourists who were surprised by the area. Spacious rooms, too!

"A very good Best Western"
richzeman, 05 Août 2024

Very scenic secluded hotel. A little bit out of the way, but worth it. It was very clean with nice sitting areas. It felt naturistic with large picture windows. The air conditioner worked very well compared to most Bets Westerns. We would go again.

"Not at all the Inn at the Falls of the past"
beverlyjrodriguez, 02 Juillet 2024

Years ago, this was built as a luxury bed-and-breakfast inn, Sadly, that time has long since passed. It was average for a best western.

"Inn Staff are very helpful."
johnlentz067, 18 Juin 2024

If you have questions, they have answers. The location of the Inn is close to the local airport, train, and bus stations. Also, it is close to the shopping centers, Library, and Golf course.

"Nice overnight stay"
redeve236, 01 Juin 2024

Nice small hotel with a friendly staff, rooms were nice and clean. The waffles for breakfast were a little off but other than that it was good. I would recommend it for an overnight stay but that would be it since there isn't much to do around there. We went for a sweet sixteen party.

"Arrogant front desk staff"
Peter P, 29 Mai 2024

The hotel is clean and well maintained and along a beautiful creek. Breakfast was good. The price of the hotel was very high. The desk staff was unfriendly, arrogant, unresponsive and made people wait unnecessarily during check-in and check-out.

"A nice, relaxing location"
M2337NTpauls, 11 Mai 2024

The check in process was smooth. The room has a view of the rapids on a small creek/river, literally, right outside your window. Our only disappointment was the unfortunate fact that we only stayed for one night. Breakfast was average fof the price. 😉

"Outdated but decent and peaceful"
Luis Nicola A, 05 Mai 2024

Outdated establishment, fairly well maintained. Located next to a peaceful water stream. Dogs allowed. Breakfast basic and stations a little scattered. Room ok. Service good.

"Good"
patrickgarvey779, 29 Avril 2024

Pretty nice breakfast was good and hotel was in nice location. Staff is helpful. Will visit once again when I get around the area

"Excelente hotel"
Alejandra R, 18 Mars 2024

Very rich breakfast, and employees with excellent attention, the location perfect ,is I would definitely return to this location, very clean and adequate attention, my stay was for 4 days which I enjoyed a lot, I would return, I loved the place.

"Aswome place"
fletcherkrystal844, 14 Mars 2024

The moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the hotel staff. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and I was impressed by the attention to detail in ensuring all my preferences were met. The room itself was spacious, elegantly furnished, and impeccably clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep after a long day of travel. The amenities provided were top-notch, and I appreciated the little touches such as complimentary toiletries and a well-stocked minibar. Throughout my stay, I was continually impressed by the level of service provided by the hotel staff. Whether it was arranging transportation, making restaurant recommendations, or simply ensuring my comfort, they went above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay.

"At the Falls - is where the hotel fell"
Safari39118717092, 03 Janvier 2024

The staff was polite, but this is a motel with a nice stream view. A lot of work needs to be done on so many levels to this place for it to be a plus. If they do the work, then it may have potential but as for me not my cup of tea.

"Convenient location"
Jerry L, 22 Décembre 2023

Perfect location for our travels / in a quiet residential area. Room was ok (clean), but a number of worn / broken items. Used by a lot of contractors, so expect that type of transient traffic and trucks. Cargepoint available on-site too

"Great experience Reddy and his staff are great"
Mary S, 03 Décembre 2023

Reddy was really supportive and gave us the complete attention we deserve. Also thinking about having my daughter's sweet 16 here. Mary and Donald McKee the room was nice and clean it smelled great. Definitely will recommend my family to come here from out of town and my friends.

"Off the main road motel"
johnyonkers, 03 Décembre 2023

Inn is secluded and has pretty views. Rated are usually lower than most other motels. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet is limited, but plentiful. Pets are allowed, for an extra fee. Outside restaurants are several miles away. Vending machines would help this problem.

"Shower"
anne c, 20 Novembre 2023

We could not shower for the two days we were there because the shower above us leaked into ours. We told the front desk the first night, they said they fixed it. But they didn't. Then when we said the shower still leaked on us our second day, they said we "lied". Yet we could see and hear the leak. We could feel the wetness of the ceiling....

"Great place to stay."
aletap2022, 22 Septembre 2023

Stayed our nights at the Best Western Chieftain Inn. It was very nice with very comfortable beds. Very nice place that had a wonderful breakfast waffles, eggs, sausage, fried potatoes with lots of other choices. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again. Had a great Mexican dinner at El Patron just across the river. It's our favorite restaurant. Three in Eastern Washington.

"Convenient location"
Jerry L, 05 Septembre 2023

Nice location for us, a quiet area (other than road noise). A bit expensive for a budget hotel. Breakfast was not pleasant. Room chair was broken, but no maintenance available. Internet is good, when it's up

"It has its pros and cons"
cubana1952, 31 Août 2023

As I stated before its the little details that make the difference between a great place and a good place. This hotel could have been rated higher but the small details prevented me from doing so. For the pros-It was very clean which is important to me. The location is great right next to a river with a small deck overlooking it which gave us a nice place to sit and relax. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. The room was spacious and all the furnishings and equipment were in good working order. The price was very reasonable. The cons-We arrived on a warm afternoon there was no air conditioning in any of the public spaces and the halls and reception area were uncomfortably warm and stuffy. When we got to the room it was stifling as the air conditioning was not on in there either. I immediately turned it on and we left to get dinner hoping that the air conditioning would cool off the room while we were out. I noticed a musty smell coming from the air conditioning unit when I turned it on and I hoped it would dissipate while we were gone. Unfortunately the musty smell did not disappear completely but it did get better and the room was much more comfortable when we returned. While the room was spacious and the beds comfortable the furnishings and décor were very dated and made the room appear dingy and dark. Breakfast was supposed to start at 6:30 but when we came down to get it the only thing that was available was coffee. It took about 15 more minutes to get the rest of the breakfast offerings out and available. Since we were pressed for time this made a big difference to us, especially when I had called in advance and had been told breakfast started at 6:00. The coffee was terrible, it was a machine that made one cup at a time (not a Keurig) and it was just not good. They had another machine that supposedly made cappuccinos and fancy coffee drinks but they were terrible also. Next time I would try the small coffee maker in the room that appeared to be a Keurig style machine. The hotel is in an area that has poor cell phone service. While this is not the hotel's fault it should be noted since it's hard to get reception if you plan to use Waze or Google maps for navigation. The final con was that when I went to check out and asked for a copy of the bill I was told that their printer was not working and they would email me the bill. I have not received it as of this posting. None of these cons would keep me from returning for another short stay but they did make the difference in my giving this hotel a higher rating.

"Run fast"
Richard L, 14 Juillet 2023

Run run from this place what mess here stay here July 1st worst stay ever at a best western over billed try to call the Manger 3 times he never called back what a hole there run from this place the this place and the staff is bad I would rather sleep in my car then there what a hole

"Clean"
d0mr0cc0, 06 Juillet 2023

The hotel is in a nice area, close to everything you need. The breakfast is good, the housekeeping is good, the front desk is good. The price is a bit high on the weekends, but other than that, well worth it.

"Quiet place, but wouldn't stay again."
lyncal999, 19 Juin 2023

We stayed 2 nights here. It appears they are trying to update this location, which it truly needs, but doubtful I'd stay here again. So many things lacking: Just 2 towels for the 2 of us for 2 nights (I would have liked one to wrap my hair in). No screens on the windows, so you can't open them to enjoy fresh air. The (OLD) windows weren't locked. The breakfast was lame & spread out. Didn't know about the beverage closet until the 2nd morning. I have a feeling this was a temporary location, but still it could have been a bit more organized. The advertisements were over a month expired (the little "tent" things, regarding the "current" promotions for Best Western). No box of tissues in the room. And the AWKWARD layout of the bathroom. The door barely clears the toilet seat. Just in general, not a comfortable stay. Maybe with some updates, it'd be better, but right now, it's not for me.

"Very Good Sleep and Enteresting Location!"
Felixberto E, 01 Juin 2023

This was our first time staying in this Best Western hotel. It was surprise for us with the location, this being near the "Wappinger's river" We practically could hear the falls by our window! The room was smaller than what we are used to, but it was comfortable with king sized bed, ample armchair and functioning amenities with it! We had very good and restful sleep! It was easy to find with our GPS! As we could use some electricity for our car, we found it confusing to use the charging station! The service at the front lobby was very nice and the cleaning staff was very good! The breakfast room was under construction, wish we had our breakfast proper? We would recommend staying here again in the next trip! Thanks!

"Customer service"
Kari P, 23 Mai 2023

Oretha and Will and Daniel are exceptional and provide customer service that is unsurpassed. We had to switch rooms during our stay and with a cancellation at the last minute, switching the reservation to the same room for both nights was a huge help. Oretha unraveled billing questions that followed. Thank you so much!

"What a great stay!"
retailsites1, 25 Janvier 2023

The GM and entire staff make you feel at home. They make you feel like a friend not just another guest. Beds are comfortable, rooms clean as well as hotel extremly in good order and well run total staff. The Best , Best Western I have stayed at!, quiet and quant location!

"A perfect weekend getaway"
X3991AWchristopherp, 06 Novembre 2022

My wife and I booked two nights for a little birthday weekend getaway and we couldn't have been happier with our stay! The suite was spacious, clean and very modern. We LOVED the bed, which was like sleeping on clouds and complimented wonderfully by the softest sheets and fluffy comforter. The fitness center was great too and provided everything I needed for a quick workout before dinner. We also loved the complimentary breakfast buffet each morning, which had a lot of options. We especially loved the waffles and Ellis Coffee! OMG, it was the best coffee I have ever had in a hotel and I can assure you I will be buying some online for my home. Lastly, I want to make a special mention of the Best Western staff, that was absolutely FANTASTIC! We stay in a lot of hotels and I can honestly say with certainty that this was the BEST customer service we have experienced in a very long time. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and helpful and they all went out of their way to ensure things were up to par. We were called shortly after checking in to see if we were happy with our room. Then each morning, someone asked how our stay was going. We were even accommodated a second floor suite upon check-in, which was perfect. And an FYI, The hotel is conveniently located around many restaurants within walking distance, a Regal Cinema and plenty of stores within a short drive. If you want a dynamite dinner, go to Double O Grill 12 minutes up the road in Wappingers Falls. DELICIOUS! Get the Skirt Steak and add the Peppercorn crusting - OMG. Book your stay, you won't be disappointed. I know we will DEFINITELY be back!

"Nice place in a residential community."
R1950AKmargaretc, 22 Octobre 2022

We enjoyed the location. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed being in a community. There was a babbling brook that the hotel overlooked. It was great that the hotel welcomed dogs. I really needed cream with my coffee.

"Comfortable but a bit tattered, could use some loving care"
Sugismama, 20 Octobre 2022

I stayed here once before and rated 4 stars, this time I'm giving it 3. Although the staff are continually cleaning and vacuuming the carpet seems dirty. Maybe a deeper clean necessary. Broken sidewalks out front just give it a neglected look. Windows throughout are filthy; you can barely make out the river through the windows in the breakfast area. Walls are paper thin, so be prepared with ear plugs. Fortunately our neighbor quieted down at a reasonable hour, but the walls are thin enough you can hear someone talking on their cell at a normal volume. There was coffee spilled behind the light fixture in our room and a bulb out; I should have reported and forgot. Breakfast is the usual boring stuff, adequate. Sheets and towels are low quality but clean. All staff were very helpful and kind. I'd stay there again, with low expectations. Price is high for the value.

"Experience a country feel at this establishment with natural amenities"
luannmorey60, 10 Octobre 2022

The service of all employees at this establishment were friendly and most helpful. The buffet for breakfast was clean and spacious. The food was delicious with a nice variety. The terrace was a plus to sit and observe nature on the brook.

"Helpful staff"
patpaisley2022, 18 Septembre 2022

I was on a trip to the east coast on a motorcycle. I was riding through rain and was cold and tired and stopped at the hotel for the night. To my surprise I accidentally made the reservation for the wrong day. The hotel clerk was very understanding canceled my wrong reservation and got me a room for that night no questions asked. I was very relieved and he made everything work out

"WORST EVER"
lashauns2019, 06 Septembre 2022

Utterly disgusting. Lancaster Va. After you get pass the roaches, I almost slipped several times from the water leak in the bathroom. I had to use my towels to soak up the water and go across the road to Walmart to purchase roach spray and lysol. The carpet by ac was soaking wet and they didn't come to change garbage at all! No staff on site and very unclean. I never unpacked my bags.

"Don't stay here."
whiteghost05, 04 Septembre 2022

Worst possible hotel. The price is not worth the stay. Dirty room. Clogged shower drain. Breakfast was mediocre. Milk was expired by at least 3 weeks. Stay somewhere else. Photos do NOT match the actual place.

"Tripping Hazard at Curb"
carich122, 21 Août 2022

The price in my opinion was no bargain. The Hotel is not easy to locate. Unloading my car I tripped on the curb and injured both my knees and legs plus an elbow. We got there at 2PM and were no rooms were ready. The hotel Mgr. took a accident report but offered no renumeration for the injuries I received. If I could attach pictures you would see how bad the curb area is. This needs to be fixed!!!

"Quite!"
Compass42461475065, 03 Août 2022

We almost passed the Best Western as it blends in with the rest of the nice city of Poughkeepsie NY. At night it so quiet as it is next to a river and constructed of brick. Nicest Best Western I have stayed at in a long time.

"It's a bed."
Brittany W, 31 Juillet 2022

All the staff are super friendly, but that doesn't make up for the disgusting rooms and the uncomfortable bed. I was in a nonsmoking room and yet the room smelled like an ash tray. Outdated hotel that needs a lot of love and. Staff was great. I didn't really see the falls but I also wasn't looking for them.

"Every"
maureendK1988AU, 25 Juillet 2022

The staff is amazing. We were upset we didn't get early checkin But we realized the staff was short and they did all they could Great experience !!! Breakfast was so good! Food was nice and hot so was the coffee Great time

"Worn out hotel in need of help"
Noreen B, 18 Juillet 2022

Hotel is worn out. Don't bother paying for a view of the falls. Management has let overgrowth overtake view and all you see is overgrown weeds. Our ceiling had a leak prior to our arrival. Mgt, saved money by only painting the leak area not whole ceiling. Furthermore on a hot July weekend BOTH the ice machine and soda machine were out of order. Ridiculous. Do not stay here.

"Convenient Location to Soghtsee"
NancyS-OT, 17 Juillet 2022

This hotel has the potential to offer a comfortable stay for a family. However, it is in terrible disrepair!! The air conditioning in the main lobby was broken, there was no pressure in the shower, ice machine not working, vending machine broken, spills on the entry drive and walk way, and general musty smell in the lobby. The desk clerk and other help were friendly and tried to do their best. The room was clean and the AC worked. This hotel does not meet the 3 stars given and not the quality of a BW Plus!! Rather disappointing.

"Poughkeepsie"
csroberds, 14 Juillet 2022

I was so surprised that there was no cell service in the rooms. Then more shocked that the desk person stated it was "due to the very thick bricks" But had zero thoughts to resolve. And my internet was very poor too

"Lifesaver on a tough week!"
virginiasO5437MN, 13 Juillet 2022

We live nearby and our well unexpectedly broke on Monday, leaving us without running water for 3 days. It was such a relief to find an affordable family-sized suite at Best western on short notice. We booked the two king loft suite - kids loved sleeping in the loft and there was plenty of space for everyone. Everything in the room was clean and in good condition. My only suggestion would be to improve the coffee offering (the pods provided did not fit in the coffee pot) and add a blender to the kitchen set-up. Thanks for a great and easy stay!

"Pleasantly surprised!"
dbwdag, 10 Juillet 2022

We have never stayed at a Best Western until today. We were pleasantly surprised! The suite was completely renovated, spotlessly cleaned with plenty of room for us and our dog. Front desk was warm, welcoming and efficient. The buffet breakfast in the morning was exceptional! Highly recommend!

"Wedding"
Kevin V, 04 Juillet 2022

Over priced. No amenities for the cost. Coffee sucked. Jacuzzi tub was chipped and didn't look nice. No bar on site even though it was listed in the description. I reserved a block of 10 rooms for my wedding and it took nearly two weeks to accomplish that because of the ridiculous process.

"Country Stay"
DCB273, 31 Mai 2022

This hotel is nestled in the scenic part of upstate. It borders a beautiful creek. The property was once an Inn prior to Best Western. There is not a lot around it. The scenery is beautiful. We ate dinner prior to arriving at hotel. Breakfast looked appealing but we needed to get on the road. The gym was clean and people were using it, but we were on mini vacation. Exercise outdoors this weekend. The surroundings were very quiet, nestled in residential neighborhood. We stopped at local gas station. There was an Italian restaurant nearby and a Dunkin' Donuts. We will definitely be returning. We were there Memorial Day weekend. I hope that the next time we come, there are chairs outdoors to look over the babbling creek.

"Ok Stay. Dated and tired hotel."
orell12022, 31 Mai 2022

Staff was good , friendly . Ok stay to crash. Bkfast was lacking. Generally tired hotel eveywhere you look. ourdoor patio had weeds growing in between bricks. Windows to view river couldhave been cleaner

"Stay Elsewhere"
Cheryl R, 29 Mai 2022

Rooms were dimly lit. Odor present. Plastic shower lining +soap can lead to a dangerous fall in the the shower. Not even one chair in the room. Hotel does not have a sitting area, should you not want to stay in your room. Even with the "make up my room" sign, and the desk person's assurance at 3PM that the room would be taken care of, housekeeping never came. Water pressure in the shower was weak. Clock in the room was set to the wrong time. This Best Western needs a "make-over." There are plenty of other options in the area. Choose one rather than stay here.

"Fabulous location - patio and rooms overlook lovely creek"
Barbara B, 12 Mai 2022

The location is perfect. The breakfast room has a large outdoor patio overlooking the creek. Our river view room was right next to the water. We could watch the creek while sitting on our bed. We bird- watched from our windows! Room was not super new, but comfortable and good-sized. Had a refrigerator and microwave. Great views and outdoor space!

"Clean and conform"
leticiah344, 01 Mai 2022

The room was very clean. The stuff was very helpful and nice. We really loved staying there. The bed was vey confortable. Place was clean. Parking area was clean a lot of space. I liked the preregistration process. The check in was very easy

"Best stay"
Relax690680, 22 Avril 2022

The Best Western is the best place to stay at in Fishkill. It's clean. Staff is wonderful. Room is comfortable with full kitchen. It's close to everything like Walmart and Cracker Barrel etc. I loved my stay. Would definitely stay again and recommend to all.

"Wedding"
220kendraw, 04 Avril 2022

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. The manager, Mr. Chambers, was professional, friendly, and helpful. The manager and staff made us feel welcomed. We are definitely staying there on our next visit.

"clean comfortable and friendly"
Holly W, 28 Mars 2022

As opposed to other recent hotel stays, the staff all seemed competent and friendly, as if this were there place and they were sharing it. Whatever they are doing to retain staff should be bottled! It was clean and functional, not fancy, but everything worked and was available. It is somewhat dated and could do with some touchups (paint at top of stairs and updated USB charging) but it was clean, quiet, and a good value.

"Job"
Venture692589, 27 Mars 2022

No me and my family and wife would definitely be back when it starts getting hot and before that we will come and stay for the weekend that is how good this place is I was recommended by someone about this place so we enjoyed our stay you look forward to returning in a couple of weeks maybe you can do a little swimming at that time

"Nice stay - improved from recent past"
E1808RNdavidp, 06 Mars 2022

The front desk staff person, Jesse, was professional, courteous and helpful. We've stayed here several times over the past few years and the room this time was improved. It was clean, neat and smelled good when we first walked in. We had 2 small dogs with us and everything went very well. Thank you.

"Clean, convenient, and pet friendly!"
thelegendarycopper, 22 Février 2022

We had a great stay. The property is truly pet friendly. We were grateful that the property is very well lit during the night so we felt comfortable taking our dog out. They also had a great complimentary breakfast. The cute little kitchen on our room was also a plus! Would definitely recommend!

"Welcoming Staff"
SafetyMs, 02 Janvier 2022

This was a return visit to Best Western in Fishkill and the front desk staff were warm and welcoming. My husband reminded one of them of his 1st week on the job during Thanksgiving and he smoothly managed the front desk and the breakfast area. He and Khali (I think that's how you spell mgr name) reminisced with us and welcomed us back. The updated room met our expectations and would definitely recommend this hotel.

"New Years Get Together"
mylesh2022, 01 Janvier 2022

I used to come to this hotel as a kid when it was older. Now I see it's redesign is beautiful and welcoming. Staff was very helpful. My friend and I had a night to remember and we all agreed to come back in the near future as a regular spot for us to have fun

"Very pleased with stay!"
SadiePM, 06 Décembre 2021

This hotel has been here for a very, very long time. Let me start off by saying this hotel is GREAT! I love everything about it. The staff at the front desk are outstanding, Dawn helped me over the phone setting up the reservation and was very polite and curtious while Jesse at the front desk was very professional and quickly checked us into our room. We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds overlooking the water. I couldnt of asked for a better view. The room/bathroom were very clean. The beds we slept on had clean smelling sheets and pillows were fairly comfortable. I have stayed at this hotel a couple times on my trips to the hudson valley and wouldnt want to stay any where else. Breakfast in the morning was decent and the check out process was smooth. Like I said, the hotel has been there for a very long time and could use some modern upgrades however when I stay at hotels, I perfer the unique ones instead of the big overwhelming ones. I would highly recommend. Some of the negative reviews on here just dont make any sense to me. I recommened 100%

"Pet Friendly, good location, somewhat worn"
acefilmco, 05 Décembre 2021

I could agree and disagree with all of the previous reviews, both good and bad. First, you will NOT be sorely disappointed by staying here, and have your trip ruined. Not at all. We had a comfortable, clean, pet-friendly room on a Saturday night, the hotel was not heavily occupied, and we came and went (to a concert in Poughkeepsie) as we pleased. No annoying waiting for an elevator, or walking through a huge crowded loby. The grounds are pleasant, more like a tiny college campus with the typical college outdated architecture. Woodsy, good for a quick dog walk, off the beaten path, but with conveniences (gas, food) a few blocks away. The enire building could use a facelift, but not so much that it was disturbing. We prefer quirky hotels, and when you travel with a pet, that eliminates many lodging options right there. Convenient to Poughkeepsie, and especially the Hudson Walkway/Rail Trail. Also the Hudson Valley in general. I would come back here, and I would reccomend to a friend,

"Home Away"
AnnMarie E, 24 Novembre 2021

The location is terrific. Easy on and off highway. Stores and restaurants galore. Room is very comfortable it's like a mini apartment. Makes traveling a bit easier. Easier to travel with pets too. Rather than a conventional hotel where you'll need to take dogs out an elevator to go out.

"Short family get away."
lightenup32, 06 Novembre 2021

The weekly rate was fair for what was included. It was off the beaten path of things to do. It could use refurbishing but it was clean had useful amenities and the staff was so helpful. It looked and felt it's age. Since our events were done Friday we checked out early. We thought this one had a pool. When it didn't it wasn't worth it to stay another night.

"Nice view of stream"
J L, 29 Octobre 2021

If I would have listened to all of the bad reviews I would have never stayed but since we only needed one night we went and this hotel is fine! It is a old hotel with old windows so of course they are not going to look perfect. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful, the room had internet, microwave, refrigerator, and all HBO channels. The best part was a nice view of the stream that runs right along the hotel. If you want fancy, pay double/triple at the high-end hotels.

"Needs a modern facelift"
Jeff F, 24 Octobre 2021

Paper thin walls, you can hear everything the guests in next room are saying, water did not drain out of the bathroom, sink fixtures were not clean. Decorations and room looks like something from 1950. Our window opening to the sound of the waterfall was a plus. Front desk staff very nice, friendly and professional.

"Couldn't wait to leave"
cindyr307, 22 Octobre 2021

Dirty. Needs repairs inside and outside. We only were given one set of towels and when I went to the front desk to get more the woman said, "You need more towels? They should last." Major cobwebs inside and out. Breakfast in a bag...joke. Front desk woman EXTREMELY unfriendly. Musty room. No soap. No coffee or tea offered in lobby. No washing machines. This hotel USED to be upscale. Pitch a tent in a campsite instead.

"Run down!"
lkirrane, 22 Octobre 2021

Run down at the heels! Was so disappointed. Nice river view but dirty windows, Draperies and no screen! Bedding was pilled lumpy pillows and stained bedspread. Not my idea of a nice place to stay. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was clean but it really needed a makeover!

"Should have read the reviews!"
KSCamper, 21 Octobre 2021

I should have paid closer attention to the reviews! 1st: The receptionist that checked us in was WONDERFUL! She should get a raise! She set the bar really high for expectations but it was a downhill slide from there. 2nd: Towels were threadbare, toilet wouldn't stop running unless you messed with the lever, room was musty, stale smelling, water difficult to turn on in the shower/tub, no bath mat, the fake leather office chair in the room was peeling and flaking onto our clothes, I could go on and on. 3rd: The staff at breakfast--WOW. Busy gossiping at the front desk. When asked to get hot water refilled for tea, the looks could have killed me! After waiting 15 minutes for hot water and it not showing up we were done waiting. The bananas were days past needing to be sent to the compost. No milk in the cooler for the cold cereal that was the breakfast option. Best Western Plus means something different in the west and midwest than what this BW offered-- COVID or no COVID.

"Excellent accommodations‘beautiful views of the brook/stream"
buddynunz, 21 Octobre 2021

It's an old hotel that could use some updating, but the beds were very comfortable, and the staff were very accommodating,my only complaint is that the breakfast was possibly the worst I've ever had in a hotel that includes breakfast

"Tired old propert in need of repair and maintenance. Look elsewhere."
gesegnet, 19 Octobre 2021

This hotel left me wondering how Best Western's property rating work. We have stayed at other Best Westerns: some were bad, most were pretty good. This property is listed as a Best Western PLUS. The exterior if the building is in bad need of repair, the cement walkways are crumbling and the shingles are graying. The room, while clean, looked dated and was lacking simple amenities - there were no soap dishes (the one in the tiled bath has been pulled from the wall) and there was no bathmat. The caulking in the bathroom was discolored and cracking - it needs to be redone. The fixtures are all badly corroded and it appeared they therefore could not be cleaned. The bed linens had black stains on them and the three small square pillows on the bed were just ridiculous. Based on the fact we've enjoyed other properties under the simple "Best Western” name, I'd say this would fall in the category of Best Western Minus. For the price they charge you can find many better hotels in the area.

"Very nice hotel"
Storyteller632606, 12 Octobre 2021

Smaller hotel is in a quiet location with a nice view of the creek and waterfall. Staff was very helpful. Room was spacious, clean, very comfortable bed. Only complaint was the sparse breakfast - I understand there are COVID restrictions but I think more could have been offered.

"Bitten by a spider while sleeping"
lblubrano, 07 Octobre 2021

Don't stay here. It will ruin your trip. Burn holes in the sheets, carpet is damp and smells moldy, no basic cleanliness, water in shower doesn't drain and worst of all I was bitten by a spider while sleeping. Ended up with cellulitis and antibiotics as a souvenir. They call it an older property but really it's just a dump.

"Dreadful"
tlaske, 03 Octobre 2021

Well, it was a stretch to give them a 1 rating. I would prefer to go with 0, but it was not an option. The room was filthy. The bed linens were old and soiled. Hair on pillows, stains on walls and curtains, smoke detector was removed from room, the entire place is nasty. need it say more.

"Exceeded expectations for a hotel that I normally wouldn't consider"
WhosShemp, 26 Septembre 2021

I stay at nice hotels. There were no nice hotels around this weekend. This was the only hotel room within an hour and a half of where I needed to be. But you know what? I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was kinda neat. It was right on a creek that the kids enjoyed checking out, the air conditioning cranked, the staff was friendly, it was clean (but smelled a little bit musty), it was quiet despite cars packing the parking lot, it was a mile away from a restaurant that we wanted to hit. There isn't much to complain about. We skipped their breakfast for a nice hot breakfast nearby, but something was available. This was $200. Was it worth $200? Eh...I don't know. But it was the only room available and it was completely satisfactory. Exceeded expectations.

"Sorry I did not check the reviews."
Mjgrenchik, 20 Septembre 2021

I was unhappy with our stay at the Best Western Plus, I felt it was not cleaned very well, poorly decorated, and had an odor when I walked into the room. Blankets on bed had big snags, light switches not clean, broken shower facet, toilet didn't always flush. Ugh.

"This place should be demolished. It's horrendous."
anglophillip, 12 Septembre 2021

This is the worst hotel I've ever had to stay at more than once. Avoid! See photos for the state of our room. Note rotten wooden windows which caused mild around ac unit, bath held together with duct tape, and worse disgusting carpet. It is clear the present management and staff don't care. Best Western should remove their use of the brand for not upholding their part of the deal. It's a shocker. I wouldn't board my cat in a place this bad!

"Stay in your car before staying at this hotel"
N2428RTmichellef, 29 Août 2021

If there was a way to give less than one star, I would. I think this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Took 3 tries, and dragging the desk clerk to the room, to get a key that worked; we should have left right then. Musty smell to the room, cleared up a little once turning the air on. Stains on the ceiling (bad ones) in kitchen and bedroom. Then found that the bathroom sink leaked, so that the floor was soaking wet. Went to desk to let them know, they gave us a towel to put on the floor. Refrigerator ices over, but then melts, so carpet by fridge was wet. Carpet - disgusting. OK, stained and some cigarette burns, bad enough, but if you walked on it barefoot, your feet turned black. Terrible sleep - the room was so damp, that the pillows were damp. After first night, found that the 5 windows (on first floor!) weren't even locked. Website says "grab and go breakfast, with pastry, fruit, coffee, and juice" - only coffee. Website also says managers reception with beer and wine nightly - NO. Asked to speak to a manager - none there. On checkout, not a single "how was everything" - instead, I said "sink needs to be fixed, and in general the room is disgusting" and the woman working just said "yeah". Not even an "I'm sorry" or a "thanks for staying". Only positive I can say is that the younger guy working the evening shift at least tried to be pleasant. I may never stay at a Best Western again!

"Needs refurbished"
ncledgergirl, 27 Août 2021

The room smelled of mildew and everything exterior and interior was dirty and run down. Beds were clean and comfortable enough but that was it. Furniture needs replaced, the office chair in our room was literally shredded with wear and tear.

"Poorly Maintained. Worn and Old"
raymondp119, 24 Août 2021

Poorly maintained and worn. Needs a renovation. A lot of furniture should be thrown out. Windows should be cleaned thru out (dirty with cobwebs.)Main areas not that clean. Definitely not a Best Western Plus. Room had a peeling desk chair, old lamp, electric socket out of wall and broken drawer. Bathroom had a tissue dispenser speckled in wall. Requested early check in and said that rooms would not be ready till after 3

"Lovely Hotel in Upstate New York"
sharonwC4307CL, 18 Août 2021

This hotel was so relaxing. It had an off the beaten path feel but it was near everything we wanted to see. The room was large and clean. It had very comfortable beds with 4 pillows on each bed. It had a microwave and large under the counter fridge with a pretty decent freezer in it.

"The most run down hotel we have ever stayed at"
Eve L, 18 Août 2021

Shocked at how dingy and run down this place is. Lobby smells like mod.hallwYs and common areas look like they haven't been vacuumed in months. Windows are filthy. Our 1st floor room " with a water view" (view of a shallow creek and large weeds with a traffic intersection in the background) was gross. The carpet was dirty. Curtain hanging off due to a missing hook. Table has. Abroken leg. Windows open which is great but scrée is broken. Bathroom is a mess with worn out filthy vanity. Tub has a dirtyat to use in it and the tub doesn't drain so during a shower you stand in mile depth dirty water. The smell in the bathroom is RIPE mold f/feces scent. We were staying one night so moved to a different room. CleaER 2nd floor room but all in all not typical housekeeping standards at all.

"Do not stay here"
hazel0live, 11 Août 2021

I was skeptical of the bad reviews and should have heeded their warnings. Do not stay here. I regret that we did not pack our bags and go to another hotel- even if it meant paying for another room elsewhere. Room was very damp, bad “moldy” odor and worn furniture. Shower head coming out of wall. Dirty fans and the furniture was of poor quality and looked like it had been damaged or just old and in ill shape. Pillows very old. Carpet was even a bit damp. Yuck. No hospitality with front check in whatsoever.

"Vile and Unwelcome"
Jason W, 05 Août 2021

The hotel has been a staple in the area for a while so it seemed like a safe bet when returning home. I was very wrong. The front desk was rude and unwelcoming--giving me an attitude as soon as I asked to check in. We were checked in quickly, which was fine. However, the room was vile. It reeked of mildew and basement. The bathtub was yellowing and missing most of the knobs. The shower was dingy, darkly lit, and had a 3 ft hole in the wall covered with insulation plastic. Everything about the hotel was gross and unsettling. The decor was ancient, which is almost forgivable, if not for literally everything else being terrible. Additionally, the hotel cost almost $300/night. Stay at the Hyatt on Route 9. You'll be much better off.

"Could use a facelift- and friendlier front desk staff"
annhE1235TP, 05 Août 2021

Outdated property- room smelled moldy and the sheets and carpet were a bit damp. The front desk personnel were extremely unfriendly/unhappy. It was probably nice when it first opened, but I recommend paying a bit more and finding somewhere else to stay in that area

"No problems"
Y1162XErays, 25 Juillet 2021

I stayed in a suite on the first floor with a water view on July 24, 2021. It's an older property, but I did not experience any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. The bathroom cleanliness matched that of Holiday Inns and Hampton Inns I've stayed at. The towels and linens were clean. The air conditioning was fine. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Yeah, the outside windows need cleaning. So? I did not go to breakfast. So they don't have a real breakfast during Covid? All hotels are giving out packaged items these days. Geesh--some people just like to complain!! I would stay there again.

"Beautiful location. Expected a lot more from BW hotel. Was disappointed"
brucejw2, 24 Juillet 2021

Staff was unhappy, Housekeeping incompetent and not supervised. Our room was dirty and there was a pile of refuse swept into a corner of the hall. Local water was not pallitable. No bottled water was provided.

"Not a pleasant stay"
Ch3flife, 14 Juillet 2021

Walking to the room i could see the hotel was lacking house keeping. Cob webs everywhere and a weird musty smell. Entering the room it smelled of marijuana very strong. After a long drive I decided to use the hot tub but to my dismay the jets were filthy and left a dirty ring around the tub. I didn't enter it. Overall the hotel has fallen from grace.

"Maintenance needed"
156janiner, 13 Juillet 2021

The outside walls and especially the windows of the hotel need cleaning and they need more staff. There was no breakfast put out due to Covid-19 restrictions and the bagged breakfast offered featured a Hostess pastry, juice, granola and an apple. At least they had coffee. The refrigerator in our room was full of take out food which didn't make us feel there was any extra cleaning going on due to the pandemic. Hopefully these conditions will improve as more people are traveling and using the hotel.

"Hotel is in poor shape"
Mark H, 12 Juillet 2021

No A/C. Doors broken. Dogs barking all night. Cigarette stains on pillows. No towels in room. Hotel staff did nothing to remedy any of the concerns even after they were notified. Strongly recommend against this establishment.

"Scary place"
Curiosity705011, 06 Juillet 2021

Poorly maintained resort. Dark and gloomy halls and decor. Access to the building we were in had no security and entry door was always unlocked. Vacated rooms were left for days with the doors wide open, lights on and dirty towels thrown on the floor. The soap dish had been broken off the tub wall in our room. Breakfast consisted of a Danish and juice in a bag. I believe this hotel is used as a homeless shelter.

"One room smelled like an ashtray, the other had lovely water stains on the ceiling and a hole in the shower."
CJC7227, 06 Juillet 2021

Great location, near Marist and Vassar and a very nice front desk person. Rooms appear to have been last updated decades ago and one clearly had been smoked in extensively. When I checked in to one room, the other was propped open so I assumed that housekeeping was still cleaning it. Later that night we figured out it must have been an attempt to air it out. Housekeeping doing their jobs, but clearly not a well-maintained place. You'll want shoes for the shower. My shower had a large hole in the wall cleverly covered by masking tape. Water stains above a jet tub that had seen better days. Carpets...ugh. Busy wknd and they charged $300 a night, pathetic.

"I won't be staying here again."
S3528LDinfo, 05 Juillet 2021

This was my first experience of a BestWestern Plus. Overall the room was clean, but the decor was very outdated, there was also peeling paint on the walls of the room, a rusty soap dish in the shower, the hallway carpets were dirty, chicken bones were on the ground of the entry way, etc. Breakfast was a prepackaged donut (which I couldn't eat) and a bottle of orange juice. There were no options and I had to wait for over 10 minutes to get that. Yes, these are challenging times with COVID, but I have stayed at many other hotels over the last year and this was, without question, the worst experience I have had in many years. If these are the standards of a BW Plus, I would hate to see a regular BW.

"lucky if the receptionist and room don't stink"
m0ish0, 03 Juillet 2021

This hotel is in need of major cleaning if not an upgrade. I used an earned free night as part of a longer stay, and Best Western really knows how to unappreciate you when you are getting a freebie by forcing a dbl queen when I've always paid for a King and one that is in (smelly) bad shape. Ok, Ok, I should have paid and not used my earned freebie....

"Awful hotel that's tired and dirty"
martin_roadtrip, 01 Juillet 2021

The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained. The communal areas had cobwebs and dirty windows indicating neglect. Our room was tired (worn out desk chair, damaged furniture and fittings with numerous stains and marks on the walls) and unclean (sticky carpet, stains on chair and foot stool and about 15 sticky stains on the bathroom tiled floor, filthy windows). When we complained to the front desk about the bathroom floor having numerous sticky stains, we were given bleach to clean the floor ourselves as the hotel was full.

"Smokey Rooms"
RTRICHIE, 17 Juin 2021

Terrible experience. Smokey room, cigarette smoke no less. At 11pm and two hours away from home we are over a barrel. Nothing we can do but stay. Luckily it is just a one night stop over before the real destination. A terrible experience. Oretha is the ray of sunshine. She's an extraordinary customer service personnel who has gone above and beyond to make us as comfortable as possible. Owners would only give a 20% discount. We'll talk to corporate tomorrow.

"Filthy don't do it"
Mooktrip, 03 Juin 2021

Surprised, disgusted, and inconvenienced checking into unclean rooms. Tried 3 bad rooms and then I asked for refund. I requested a low floor, was given the boiler room/“staff only room” wing which smelled like smokers as well as my room, so I asked front desk to please give me another one, any floor. Rm 210 had crumbs on right bedspread, left bed had several black hairs. It's disappointing enough to see worn pilled linens, & caked in dirt where carpet meets wall in doorway. But I refuse rooms that aren't cleaned. Especially coming out of Covid, how can you do this to people? So I lugged my heavy wheeled suitcase because elevator doesn't work, just to be given Nextdoor room 211, Found black dots on that coverlet, more crumbs on the right bed, and hairs on the left bed without trying hard, Young man at front desk was unphased. Just learned best westerns are independently owned, I chose this hotel because it was rated well here on TripAdvisor. Don't stay here. See my pictures of unclean bedding in 2 different attempted rooms

"Good for the price"
ravenY27, 30 Mai 2021

I stayed in the jacuzzi which was decent for the price. The hotel room was big, but it was severely outdated from the inside out. The elevator wasn't working. The hallways were hot, curtains were ripped and the walls are thin. I would only stay here if the rooms were cheap again. No bugs thankfully but the walls were dirty. Hope this helps

"Gross"
khey55, 21 Mai 2021

Run down, dirty rooms, smelly ripped curtains, patched hole in the wall, ripped furniture, half sized bed pillows with long black hair on them. The hairdryer had something sticky on it, there were bed mattresses leaning up against a wall in the lobby area. The staff was friendly, this is poor management, such a shame, nice location

"Smells"
Randall M, 03 Mai 2021

This property smells of marijuana both in the lobby and in the guest rooms. It is also loud through out the night with a large number of males people going in and out of rooms taking numerous showers.

"Don't stay here"
EveMLG, 25 Avril 2021

Really don't recommend staying here. While it wasn't expensive and location was what we needed, the room was in poor condition (cig burns on carpet, moldy ceiling, broken tub jets, towel bar ripped out of wall), the elevator was broken, the front desk staff member didn't keep her mask on when talking with guests, and we could clearly hear noise from the next room all night. We won't be back.

"Not Worth It"
Infield99, 24 Avril 2021

This was a very nice place at one time. That time has passed. Out of date and unmaintained. Shameful to have the Best Western name on it. Don't get suckered. The more recent reviews are dead on accurate. Consider the YMCA...

"The room was not cleaned properly, my room was downstairs and someone was above me and they kept jumping"
nicolefaircloth, 15 Avril 2021

I complained about the noise that the people upstairs were making multiple times and nothing was done so it continued all night . The room wasn't very clean especially the tub and sink , I wouldn't spend my money here again

"HORRIBLE & SCARY EXPERIENCE"
MamaCyn2021, 06 Avril 2021

Dirty, smells like cigarettes from the second you walk in. People obviously living there-empty food boxes & clothing/shoes piled outside some doors. At around 1AM there was a huge fight in the hallway with people screaming, saying scary things, and slamming doors. The police came - it was terrifying! The next morning when I told the woman at the front desk, she said "Oh yeah I heard about that". No apologies & acted like it was a normal occurrence.

"Avoid until better managed"
HV_Local, 04 Avril 2021

Room was musty, hallway was incensed, towels had big holes, bedding had cigarette burns. Housekeeping missed us one of four evenings ~ we turned them away another evening because it was already after 9pm. Trash left in hallways, trash left on front stoop.

"Trapped in the 80's"
John S, 01 Avril 2021

Do not walk, RUN to another hotel. Because of sheer exhaustion, we stopped ourselves from leaving at 3AM. The room was fairly clean, it was everything else. The towels had holes & stains. The room was dark. NO hot water in shower. Bathroom sink was SLOW to drain. Furniture should have been thrown in the garbage 2 years ago. Burn marks on the rugs. There was a phone next to the toilet!! We were SO uncomfortable in room #115. WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT :/ :/

"Not good"
MarkS6798, 29 Mars 2021

I read the reviews on TA and was expecting a pretty decent stay. I was wrong. The staff was fine but the room was really outdated, stained carpets, smelled like an ashtray even though the windows were open and really needed remodeling.

"Used Needle in Bed"
alexbO9009RD, 29 Mars 2021

We found a usedneedle in our bed. We also found bloody towels, dirty washcloth, our door didn't shut properly, and the smoke detector was broken and hanging from wires from the ceiling. If you care about safety and hygiene bI would not recommend this place.

"Unique hotel.."
tymetraveler222, 06 Février 2021

We stayed here for just one night, on a Sunday evening. Rates are a bit high, but as expected for the area. Parking is a bit tight. The lobby was very nice, once you step away from the desk. There is a lovely patio outside, which sits near a creek. Our room was lovely, large, and very comfortable. I liked the shape of the room. A small sitting area with couch and a chair and desk/TV. The beds were super comfy! Nice decor. Great bath products. Quiet. Watch the room doors, they are very thick and heavy! Desk staff were pretty friendly, but could have been better, both with check-in and check out. I definitely recommend this hotel. Quick drive downtown to stores, restaurants, parks and a bridge to the other side of the Hudson River.

"Good enough"
taylorhollis29, 22 Janvier 2021

Service was quick and helpful. Hotel is adorable looking and half the rooms have a nice view of the River. My view was of the parking lot but that was nice so I could watch over my car. The bathroom wasn't as clean as I'd like a bathroom to be with some rust in the shower and holes in the towels. Over all it was fine for a low maintenance person like me staying for a very short time. For there breakfast (under covid restrictions) I was able to choose orange or apple juice, coffee or tea, and orange or apple, and various kinds of pre packaged pastries. I was also given a water and a granola bar.

"Terrible daytime reception"
jp1980z28, 31 Décembre 2020

We arrived 2 hours early and called front desk to ask if there was a room ready. The woman who answered was very nasty and made a big deal about early check in, which we never insisted on, we just inquired. We entered hotel and were greeted with “ driver license” from receptionist. Then she kept telling me my credit card was bad. It turned out to be her machine. She gave us room cards. Not a word from her. Next morning, after we were greeted by the same women with silence and staring, we inquired about breakfast. She said “apple or orange”. We had no idea what she was talking about, fruit? Juice? She never offered any food, no list was provided, no Nothing. I bit my tongue and we went to Dunkin Donuts. Never spoke to her the rest of stay. I called corporate office and they must have told her to apologize. Upon leaving she apologized for the hotel grounds. Obviously no self accountability there. We left and will never go back again. We stayed there a few years ago and it was nice, thats why we went back. Obviously it changed. I would not recommend this location.

"Night out"
xxmarizolxx, 04 Décembre 2020

Loved the hot tub was great for my daughter to go in and was a quite night. The rooms we're a bit far from the front door but that was the least and only problem. Was a nice to have the space and doors to the room, allowed for privacy to be kept inside.

"Great Value. Needs some upkeep."
Jason K, 13 Novembre 2020

Stayed here for a night just to get away from the city and relax. We booked the king suite with a view. I was really happy with the size of the room for the money we paid and it was generally in OK condition. However there were several items broken in the room (door stop, toilet paper holder, window screens, etc.) that made it feel like it had been neglected. We could also hear the guest in the next room as clearly as if he was standing in the same room as us. Overall it was a nice room, in a convenient location, and it was worth the money we paid for it. I really really really wish they would have done more to emphasize what added cleaning procedures were being implemented given the situation with COVID, because that lack of information made us feel a bit unsafe, and that in itself is where we were the most dissatisfied.

"DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!."
traveler679l, 04 Novembre 2020

The worse service. The front desk lady who answered the phone on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 was very disgusting & unprofessional. She acted like she owned the place. People like that should be fired and terminated immediately. Best Western is going to loose a lot of business if you keep hiring people like that. I was promised a discount but because it was not written, the lady who answered the phone today in a very nasty way refused to fulfill their promise. The room was smelly, and they never took action upon my request. DO not waste your money. Seek other hotels nearby wa better price and a lot more decent and well train workers.

"Wonderful Experience"
Rebecca E, 05 Octobre 2020

I stayed here during the world premiere of my film at the Woodstock Film Festival. The staff was AMAZING! So friendly and kind, very accommodating. The bar was closed to the public, but the manager arranged to restock the bar, and hire a bartender so we could have an outdoor gathering on the beautiful patio overlooking the river. Rooms were clean, and no, not the most modern - but who cares! The location and amenities were quaint, and rustic - very fitting for the area. Would definitely stay here again.

"Think twice before staying here!!"
warrens9282020, 28 Septembre 2020

Unfortunately the Room we had was far under what our expectation was for a Best Western and what we were charged. The room smelled horrible, yhe curtains smelled like smoke, the smoke detector was missing, the chair was totally shot for the desk, there is peeling paint in the bathroom, horrible water pressure, and the walls were dirty.

"a place that shoul be closed permanetly"
BigJeff1948, 25 Août 2020

would not stay at this location again.. It is a dump!!! It smelled of bleach and disinfectant in the room. The room was poorly lit with inadequate lamps. The towels had holes in them. The pillows were lumpy. There was stains on the couch from the previous occupant sexual encounters.

"Loved it"
olivianleon101010, 08 Août 2020

Our stay was amazing relaxing and loved it and the staff there were awesome and took great care of my family and i couldnt be more thankful of that they all went above and beyond for is and it was amazing thank you so much for everything

"Poor decisions of hotel staff"
730valentinm, 03 Août 2020

This is an unfortunate review because the hotel itself is pleasant but because of the poor decisions of the staff it turned into a horrible experience. I was given a room at the end of the hallway. I noticed that the room directly across from me had many guests as I could hear them. I also noticed the smell of marijuana coming from that room which was fine because I didn't smell it in my room. As the night progressed the situation got worse. The room across the hall got louder, the marijuana smell got much stronger (seeping into my room) and the exit door (supposedly emergency exit) kept on opening and slamming shut every few minutes. It wasn't until I started seeing moths appearing in my room did I leap out of my bed and call the front desk and asked for my room to be changed. When I opened the door to my room I had a swarm of moths hit me in the face. It turns out that they had kept the exit door open so long that the moths flew in and took over the entire hallway. It looked like a horror movie. The smell of marijuana was so strong it was now in the entire hotel. I smelled it all the way to the front desk. When I asked the front desk person what was going on she said, we were warned by the previous shift about them. This is when my mouth dropped open. “You knew about this beforehand and you did nothing?” Yes, sorry was the reply. They ended up letting the rowdy guests stay without any repercussions. Most other hotels would have not let the situation get out of hand like this Best Western did.

"Spent almost two weeks w/my dog"
137maryleef, 11 Juin 2020

Due to having to temporarily having to leave my condo; my son, myself and my dog had to relocate. This was chosen as it's pet friendly. Only issues we had was that the internet would just randomly would go down, no cell phone service at all in our room unless you were near the window, they need to check their phones as I tried to retrieve my message and I followed the direction on the phone and it did not work, tried calling the front desk, not working so I had to call on an outside line to the front desk. They need to put up small trash cans so when you walk your dog and pick up the poop you have somewhere to put it besides in your room !

"Just OK"

I stayed there recently for a night with my girlfriend for her birthday. We booked a King room with the Jacuzzi tub so that she could pamper herself. One of the cushions on the couch had a large stain on it so we flipped the cushion over and there was a stain on that side as well. We went to use the Jacuzzi tub and it was broken, the water wouldn't stay in the tub, the girl at the desk, who was not wearing a mask even though masks are mandatory came down to the room to look, she left and came back with a new plunger piece that was more broken than the first one, luckily I was able to take pieces from both and make one that worked, in addition the light over the tub was blown out. The black out drapes in the bedroom area didn't have a track to go in front of the window so there was no way to close the drapes and keep the sun out in the morning. Our ice bucket still had remnants from the people before us and the overall room felt old. The girl at the desk in the morning had a mask but she was wearing it down over her throat not covering her mouth. The ice machine is upstairs in a corner with no real lights in the area so it's dark there while you are trying to get ice. The hotel is nice to look at and is conveniently located but I feel like an upgrade is definitely needed, the room felt old and not updated in a while. I will say, everyone was super nice and very accommodating and we would definitely give it another try during non pandemic times if the place was upgraded.

"Gross"
Aujo19, 31 Mai 2020

We found over 10 various hairs in our bed and multiple stains on every blanket. There was even hair on the back up blankets. The shower floor moved when you stepped on it, there was no shower liner, there was a spider, and there were multiple stains on the white wall. The back board of the bed had markings from previous guests, showing it had not been wiped down. Overall it was disgusting and wish we hadn't relied on the good reviews to book it, would never stay here again.

"Great stay"
400eileenh, 24 Avril 2020

Once again had a great time. Stayed in a Jacuzzi suite. Since last time carpet was upgraded. Breakfast was great. Love this place.Would definitely recommend staying here! Third time here. Every stay was consistently great. Can not say anything negative.

"A gem 1.5 hrs from Mamhattan."
9E1A7, 04 Mars 2020

Easy access through the Amtrak option. Great breakfast choices. Rooms are spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The property is located by this nice water stream, but one side of the hotel doesn't face it. Overall, pretty good escape from it all.

"Paper Thin Walls"
masonb646, 01 Mars 2020

Our checkin didn't go well to begin with, we were checking in late. I went back to the car to park and my daughter went to our room - when she tried to open it a man came rushing to the door from inside. Both my daughter and the occupant were unnerved by the mix up. The lady at reception seemed genuinely confused. She called the room to confirm someone was in it - then apologized to us. As we checked in late there was no food available anywhere in the area so we settled on some cup of noodles we bought from the hotel. The next night, after a long day we came home to discover a party going on in the next room. The walls were so thin we could hear everything going on. We will not stay at this property again.

"Nice Stay as Always"
tennisbob, 25 Février 2020

We have stayed at this hotel many times as we have family in the area. The room is always comfortable and the breakfast is usually very good with many options including fresh made pancakes and eggs, breakfast meat, potatos, yogurt, pastries and many other options. I would recommend that someone from the staff take a look at some of the furniture in the rooms since some of the rooms need chairs replaced but overall the place is in good shape. They do allow dogs to stay here now, so if that is a problem it might be a good idea to ask for a room that doesn't have a history of dogs staying in it. I was told that the rooms for dogs are in a different wing of the hotel but I did hear dogs barking in the wing I was staying in.....

"Left a lot to be desired"
866rachaelg, 24 Février 2020

We booked a one night stay for a local family funeral at this hotel because of the great reviews here on TripAdvisor and because of their pet-friendly policy. Prior to booking, I called the hotel to confirm the pet policy and to inquire about a late checkout since the reason for our visit was a family funeral at 10am and we would need to leave our small dog in her crate until the funeral was over (likely after the 11am checkout time). The person on the phone was helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating and assured us that would be fine and that we could check out at 12pm. Upon arrival, I quickly realized that booking this hotel was a mistake. The front desk clerk was aloof and seemed like she would prefer to be anywhere but there. When I reiterated to her that we would need a late checkout due to the funeral, her response was, "don't let my manager know". I asked what she meant by that and she shared that her manager would not like that we were leaving our dog while we went to the funeral. I found this very odd for a few reasons: 1. We were paying extra to have our dog with us. 2. When I spoke to someone on the phone earlier in the week, they had no problem with this plan. 3. Our dog would be in a crate while we were away for an hour or so, with no chance to cause any damage to the room. 4. She was aware we were going to a FUNERAL and seemed to lack any sense of empathy or sympathy. When we arrived in our room, it was dingy, dirty, and worn out. The lamp on the wall didn't work, another lamp shade had stains on it, and there was dirt and dust in every corner. After attending the funeral and returning 30 minutes before our agreed-upon late checkout, we went to the lobby because our key wasn't working to let us into our room. When I spoke to the same front desk attendant, she reset the key, but made sure to point to the cleaning person on the sofa and state, "she's been waiting for you". Huh? Why point that out to me? Isn't it your responsibility to communicate to your cleaning crew that you granted someone a late checkout? Overall, I found this hotel to be seriously lacking in general customer service and hospitality. This will definitely not be our choice if we ever return to the area again.

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel"
Diane P, 21 Février 2020

Great room, great service, great hotel! What more do you want? There is much to do in the area so stay a few days to enjoy this part of NY State. I recommend getting a room with a view of the stream. Just beautiful.

"Pleasantly Surprised"
Joe_of_Amherst1, 10 Février 2020

Our first view of this hotel impressed us: it looks like a little castle nestled on a wooded area. Once inside, we were further impressed by the appearance of the lobby, the friendliness of the staff, and the appearance of our room, which proved to be quite comfortable over our three-night stay. Breakfast was great, with an extensive selection of hot and cold items, including fresh fruit. The person in charge of the breakfast room was friendly and very helpful. It all made the purpose of our visit--my sister's funeral--a little easier.

"best western stay"
23renee23, 08 Février 2020

overall very good; I like the location the creek is relaxing, convenient location for my needs improvements can be made on exterior breakfast is varied beds are very comfortable; will continue to stay here when in Poughkeepsie

"Great place Great price"
TodaysPixels, 06 Février 2020

Great time here Staff was amazing, I have stayed here a few times before, but this time was great. Seems to be a new staff very friendly, outgoing, friendly. They look for solutions when problem arise with no panic. The two ladies at the front desk ( Oretha, and Mocha) and the lady tending to the breakfast bar(Linda), made it a pleasure when walking in after working 13 hour overnight shift. even the house keeper kept my room dressed cleaned and smelling great Especially the bathroom. Highly recommend coming here especially now.

"pretty good."
dancindan01, 27 Janvier 2020

The hallways can be a bit noisy. the hotel sits on the river which is absolutely beautiful. My biggest complaint is the pillows. they are very hard and lumpy. I came home needing a trip to the chiropractor. Pay attention to the corners in the bathroom cleaning people. We can see them....

"Clean and comfortable"
Edward1976, 25 Janvier 2020

Said here many times. Staff is always friendly and professional. Rooms have always been clean and comfortable. Breakfast is decent. The only best western that offers you a free drink at the bar when you check in.

"Incredibly disappointing experience"
Mark V, 21 Janvier 2020

Unfortunately our room had no hot water and we arrived during winter weather late in the evening. We found a Long dark hair in the bed and the pillows were not full pillows but tiny throw pillows. Never have we stayed at a hotel where Prostitutes were soliciting in the parking lot and also in lobby in right in front of the desk clerk. We moved hotels for the remaining two nights. I would never recommend this hotel to any traveler. Worst hotel experience and we travel often. Just really unbelievable

"Comfort in the Hudson Valley"
clb1993333, 17 Novembre 2019

Beautiful scenery and a friendly staff. The services offered were very worthwhile. The pillows on the bed were more like throw pillows but we dug up some bigger pillows to use. The overall stay was very good.

"Great Stay"
07andresen, 11 Novembre 2019

Hotel was cozy and comfortable and also very quiet. Within 15 to 20 mins of waterfront and other attractions. Staff was friendly and hotel was very clean. Breakfast was very nice with a couple options. Would definitely stay here again.

"Narcissist at Desk"
bogman, 05 Novembre 2019

Room and hotel were swell, although only one pillow model and mattress wasn't best. Front desk clerk, a young lady who was at hotel bar with friend an hour after I checked in, let said girlfriend leave car outside front door with car windows open and radio with subwoofers pretty loud. Woke me up at 12:20, and I was in end room on second floor. After 5 minutes I dressed and walked downstairs.as I approached car the pair ran out front into car smiling. I thanked driver, who asked if I wanted her to write me a letter. The hotel clerk smiled.

"October at The Falls"
Vacation28196020823, 29 Octobre 2019

Our 3 night stay at the Falls in October was a wonderful stay. Peaceful with the waterway viewed from room. Cocktails from 5 to 8 was enjoyed. room clean and functional. We would return for another stay.

"good couple night out"
Ladiezmn, 26 Octobre 2019

I thought it was going to be a small hot tub for one but it was a large size for two had a view if the falls relaxing never knew this was in this location. will come back again don't let the rustic exterior fool you

"Good place in the area"
ckarimi, 24 Octobre 2019

It is in a pretty location along the river. Uber, lyft and taxi are available to get you around town. The staff is considerate. The rooms were clean. They have began to start green practices. Rosaline and Tequina (new woman) were pleasant during my stay. FDR, Eleanor Roosevelt and the Vanderbilt attraction are close to the hotel. It takes roughly half an hour to get there by vehicle.

"Over priced & not clean!"
Venture70853, 20 Octobre 2019

The hotel was over-priced & not very clean. There was no shampoo in the bathroom. Linens were old and worn out...All of the furniture was old and again, not clean. The parking lot is small and not well lit so it was a bit creepy walking alone in the dark from the far corner. The front desk woman, Mocca, was FABULOUS...Knowledgable & helpful!...The only saving grace @ this hotel! The Saturday morning front desk woman was GRUMPY!!!!

"Overall very good. Very nice breakfast service."
USDutchie, 19 Octobre 2019

The room was clean and very good. Best Western is a good product. This hotel lived up to the BW standards. A safe in the room would have been nice. The luggage Cart can stand to be replaced. It is old and "done". The town of Poughkeepsie though is not the greatest tourist attraction. We found HYDE PARK much nicer. YET the HUDSON Valley is breathtaking.

"Older very clean hotel"
Timothy F, 17 Octobre 2019

This is a very nice older hotel. The good things were the room size, shower, location, cleanliness of the room/hotel and staff. The only negative was the choice of colors, all tan and brown and the very small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. It was a struggle getting the conditioner out of the bottle.

"Awesome Hotel - Don't miss out on this gem"
NJCowboyVito, 13 Octobre 2019

Very nice hotel. My wife and I really enjoyed. It is a little off the beaten path but well worth it. If available, go for the room with a creek view. The room was one of the nicest I have stayed in. Close drive to the Walkway over the Hudson. Very quiet and relaxing stay. I would definitely consider staying here if in the area.

"Great location and modern rooms with helpful staff."
stonewallheir, 11 Octobre 2019

Very nice Best Western with very courteous and helpful front desk staff. Hotel was modern and river view rooms made this one of nicest Best Western hotels I have ever stayed at. A nice hotel to stay at if visiting nearby Vanderbilt Mansion, FDR's Hyde Park or various Universities in the area.

"Nice room with a good breakfast"
Eric P, 03 Octobre 2019

Stayed here for just 1 night. We each got the king bed room. Very nice. Clean. Staff were friendly and accomdating (we had boat on trailer). Long a stream with nice view, but no real waterfall. I would stay again. Nice breakfast.

"Lovely area"
Lois B, 15 Septembre 2019

We stayed here for 4 days. Walls are thin and I heard the TV from the next room at 4:30am on a Friday. I heard later that they had checked out and the weekend was quiet. Beds were comfortable and clean. Window need washing. Patio was pretty along the stream. I did sleep well other nights.

"Needs a Restaurant and Bar."
Ralph B, 03 Septembre 2019

Lovely hotel and our room overlooked the river. The place is well maintained with friendly staff but I should have checked before booking because they do not have a restaurant or bar. The desk attendant was extremely helpful in providing a list of local eateries and the one that we chose from the list was very good.

"Highly Recommend"
Jmthomas2018, 31 Août 2019

Beautiful location and impressive exterior. The grounds were well-kept. The staff were very friendly. The king jacuzzi suite was amazingly comfortable. Best nights sleep of our trip. Definitely recommend!

"Great Service Great Rooms"
tiffany h, 29 Août 2019

we stayed here twice and booked the jacuzzi suite. The jacuzzi was awesome nice and big with lots of room for two people. The beds were amazingly comfortable along with a nice living room area and small kitchenette. The views of the running stream were very nice along with the community fireplace

"Good service, very thin walls!"
Claude M, 28 Août 2019

We spent one night at this location. Our neighbors had little kids playing video games in the adjacent room. We could hear all the sound effects. Thankfully they stopped before 10 PM so we did not complain. The staff was kind enough to have given us an upgrade to a room overlooking the river. Breakfast was good and well supplied. The wifi was very uneven and disconnected frequently, so watching a movie online was not ideal.

"Not the best!"
bunnyrabbit01, 20 Août 2019

stayed here last weekend. Wasn't the best hotel we've stayed in. There didn't seem to be much pride in the hotel. Not well kept up. the rooms were clean and the bathrooms were also clean but the exhaust fan was exceptionally loud and the bathtub stopper was broken. The outside was the most disappointing. the furniture was shabby and there was weeds and dirt all over the patio. could have been very nice if maintained. the woman at the front desk on checkout on sunday 8/18 was not very friendly at all and not very approachable. Also, the cable went out on Saturday night and still wasn't back when we left on Sunday, so no tv at night to watch, really annoying since there was nothing else to do, and I called front desk and they said they were aware but that was it. Also, breakfast was mediocre, banana were a few days old, and food was limited, and the pillows are very small, never seen any that size before. I would say this hotel is overpriced but it seems to be the area it's in.

"Quiet, Friendly and great location"
Garvp175, 15 Août 2019

This is our 4th stay here over the past few years. This is a BW Plus. A friendly reception staff. We have always had clean rooms. The suites are huge and well furnished. The hotel offers HBO and a huge set of channels from large HD TVs. The beds are comfortable. Good hot water. And breakfast is substantial. We find it a quiet location well off the roads. It is our go to stay up in this area.

"Ugly damp room"
GloriaTeasdale, 06 Août 2019

The hotel description says it was recently renovated. I can only assume the renovation did not include our room. It's a cool looking place from the outside. That's the last good thing I can say about it. Our room was so damp that the carpet felt gross underfoot. We should have left at once, but opted to give the a/c a couple hours to make things better while we went to dinner. It made no difference. I slept (sort of) with a hand towel over my pillow because otherwise it stuck to my cheek. In a room for 4 guests, we were provided with 3 flimsy bath towels. Decor is despair-inducingly ugly. Blanket had seen better days. The whole place stinks of a citrus-based product that I suppose we should be glad was in use. Two stars instead of one because it wasn't dirty. None of this is the fault of the staff, who were nice. And, if management is about to reply that we should have brought all of this to their attention: You're right, we should have. But we were so tired after a long day, and opted to just cope rather than pack up and move. We won't make that mistake again.

"Clean enough, friendly staff, but needs some repair"
jayel2020, 02 Août 2019

This is like the hotel that time forgot. I wouldn't have minded just dated and old-fashioned, but it hasn't been maintained. Door frames were missing or had peeling paint; the bathroom wall was cracking away from the frame; our room was a bit musty; fitness center equipment wasn't working properly and needs updating. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine but not more than that. Refrigerator and microwave were nice touches, and the Wifi quality was good. I'm surprised at the high ratings on TripAdvisor, as the quality doesn't reflect the 4-star rating. I'd give is 2.5 if I could.

"Very good value for the price"
tomjansmith, 02 Août 2019

Very nice Best Western overall. The only complaint was a very loud bathroom fan and the general setup of the bathroom/vanity area. The A/C was a little loud, but I considered it "white noise" and slept very well. The breakfast was very good, but the hot food buffet was on the small size. There was a balcony off the breakfast area with a very scenic Brook in the back. I would definitely stay there again.

"Very nice hotel in a pretty setting"
RPM17360, 01 Août 2019

I was looking for a place to stay on the way home to Pennsylvania from Northern New England. This looked like a cool place to stay in a good location next to a creek, and I was not disappointed. Granted, Wappinger Falls ain't Niagra Falls, but the hotel is located in a pretty setting next to your typical creek. There is a nice patio overlooking the water and our room had a nice creekside view. The room was clean and comfortable, staff, was friendly, a decent breakfast was provided, and the price was reasonable. The only disappointment was that during my stay the hotel bar was not available apparently due to some issues with the liquor license so I didn't get my two free beers at happy hour, but nonetheless it was a very nice stay.

"Comfortable and quiet"
Phil G, 28 Juillet 2019

This hotel is quiet and comfortable. It could use some updating and improved maintenance. Our room was comfy and clean, however the bath area needs work. The toilet needed new "works" or complete replacement. Tub was slippery and no tub mat was available. Diverter for shower needed repair. Tile flooring was very slick in bath and the lobby. Solve the minor issues and the hotel would rate another star.

"In quiet area"
Cabrill, 26 Juillet 2019

We've stayed here in the past. During this visit, upon arrival we found out the hotel was waiting on their liquor license for the lounge. I really wish this hotel had a pool, as we were there the weekend of the heat wave. I feel the price is high for the fact of no extra amenities, like a pool, lounge being available. The outside area has 3 tables. They could use more tables outside for seating. I mentioned this 2 years ago in a review and was disappointed to see that nothing was improved upon.

"Close, but not quite"
andybd69, 09 Juillet 2019

Hotel was clean and nicely siuated on a river. The staff was great and very accomodating. My only complaint is they advertised a bar and complimentary drinks, but when we arrived they did not have their liquor license. Very dissapointing.

"Not bad - wish I knew about the happy hour!"
hawknoah, 09 Juillet 2019

Interesting hotel off the beaten path - turned out to be not real convenient to anywhere around the area we needed to go, but that was my fault. Room was fine - clean & relatively quiet and comfortable. Good number of TV stations, plus had a microwave and decent size fridge/freezer. The toilet (room 200) needed to be reinstalled, it really rocked when sat upon. One of the queen beds was very creaky, any movement was kind of noisy. Breakfast (included) was pretty decent - no complaints there. I really wish I had been told when we checked in of what I just read was a daily happy hour, I would have been all over that! Workout room had a good amount of equipment in it but it was really jammed in a small room. I would say it would be unpleasant if not impossible for more than two people to use it at once. I didn't end up using it. Overall I liked it. Not sure if I would stay again based on location (we will be back if my daughter chooses to go to college here, the purpose of the trip) although the free happy hour could change my mind!

"You can charge your car, but beware "
fredm909, 26 Juin 2019

It was nice to find a place with a ChargePoint station, but the information given on the charger does not make it clear that you are billed for as long as you are plugged in, not just for the hours you are drawing a charge. Plugged in overnight, resulting in $12+ bill. Hotel wouldn't do anything about it, despite info from ChargePoint that hotel determined the billing options. ChargePoint eventually refunded $9.99 of bill, but it was an annoying waste of time to deal with it. On other Issues: desk staff were very helpful and courteous. Room was unacceptable, since shower floor did not drain properly, leaving a 1 by 2 foot puddle on the tile at all times. Tile was slightly slippery, with no grab bars in shower, so it was unsafe for anyone with balance issues. Setting of hotel next to Wappinger Creek was lovely, but the hotel could use renovation /updating.

"One night stay in Poughkeepsie"
Graham B, 22 Juin 2019

Stayed one night on the way to Niagara (June.20) Nice clean, quiet room (107), overlooking the river. Could leave the windows open and hear the water-a nice plus in USA. Bed was comfortable, shower was good, breakfast was fine and with a good choice. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay there again.

"Lovely setting and great hotel"
Global45709072475, 11 Juin 2019

Hotel was pleasant, beautifully set out in great stream side setting. Staff were lovely, room clean and tidy, bed comfortable. Only minor quirk was TV buffered a bit but weather was stormy. Set up for a great day in the Catskills and on to the next Best Western :)

"Good with exemptions"
aviron l, 01 Juin 2019

Desk staff was very good and tried to be helpful. The breakfast was great, probably the best part of the stay. The rooms are a bit small to be B.S PLUS. The walls are so thin that one can't help but hear every word from next door. Our next door were taking and going in and out all night so you may not sleep if you are light sleeper.

"Wonderful Hotel!"
LAfromLI, 28 Mai 2019

This is a beautiful little hotel that looks nothing like a typical Best Western. It's a beautiful low keyed brick and stone building tucked off the road and almost hidden. Everything was wonderful! The Check in was friendly and very welcoming, the room was great and had a wonderful fragrance that was crisp and clean. There's an outdoor patio overlooking a river which is beautiful, and breakfast was superior to any BW I've been to. Highly recommend!

"Rural Inn on a Tributary to the Hudson"
DianneWheatley, 16 Mai 2019

You can tell that you are in rural New York state as you approach the wood shingle Inn. Friendly staff; lots of parking; average sized rooms many with river views. Generous complimentary breakfast in airy well lit room with excellent coffee, yogert, fresh unpeeled fruit, and hard boiled eggs. Grab a trail bar in case you need a snack later in the day. Inn has charm but it is a tad old as noted by the bathroom fixtures etc. Clean but a musty smell. Our base for 4 days as we took in the historic and artistic sites on both sides of the Hudson River.

"Ok..."
Tammy Y, 09 Mai 2019

The setting around the hotel is beautiful, and rooms are nice, but there were ants crawling all over the wall behind the egg station at breakfast and not a lot of seating in that area. Also, we had an issue in our room and the front desk employee did not seem to care very much.

"Good stay"
yachkourigram, 08 Mai 2019

Good location, comfortable beds and clean rooms and toilets. Plenty of parking space. Good variety for breakfast. Staff was helpful and despite having an issue with check in due to b.com and BW internal reservation system they did their best to solve the issue on time and refund part of the money. Thank you for having us

"Friendliest staff a d excellent location"
Paradise43031522305, 07 Mai 2019

We stayed a week and used the location as our central point visiting the historic sites up and down the Hudson River. Easily accessible to Hyde Park area. The entire staff was incredibly kind. Clean rooms. Good value.

"Pretty mediocre"
bernardftaylor, 07 Mai 2019

I chose this place because it had a certificate of excellence. It was also on a river which is always cool. I checked out the pictures on the website but they just didn't really represent the place correctly. First, the rooms are much smaller than pictured on the website; perhaps they used a wide angel lens? Second, most hotels leave you enough toiletries for at least two people to shower. Not here. They stay included breakfast, which was pretty lousy. but we all hated it and after the first day we ate out. Crappy food, and plastic everything. If you care at all about the environment all the stupid plastic will trouble you. Finally, not that I care about a free "happy hour" but it was promised but when my friend asked about the wine he was told it was suspended because they were waiting to renew their liquor license. That should not effect any establishment that is provided "free wine."

"Million-Dollar Location"
Randy L, 07 Mai 2019

Opening the curtains this morning, I discovered a pair of Canadian geese and their six young casually walking along the creek bank just outside our window. If the weather had been warmer I would have raised the window and used the screen to allow it the sounds of the water rippling past on a fair sized river. This property is ideal. The rooms were very nice. It was strange that the hotel had no laundry facilities and an envelope was left suggesting one might like to leave a tip for the cleaning personnel.

"One of the nicer Best Westerns"
Melanie A, 30 Avril 2019

Started here for a weekend trip with our dog. Nice hotel on the edge of a large creek. It was still a little cold to sit on the patio for breakfast but in nice weather it would've been nice. Rooms were very clean. There was a "happy hour" even on a Saturday with two free beers or wine. Bar was very small but it was a nice offering. No restaurant though. Nice place for a weekend stay.

"Just okay"
Ted D, 28 Avril 2019

Visiting/touring local colleges with kids. More average & dated looking in person vs. website. Check-in staff seemed a bit confused and slow. Breakfast was adequate - typical fare, coffee was good. Not a resort, but wasn't expecting one. Can do better/worse with other chains nearby.

"Lipstick on a pig"
Dreamer617529, 24 Avril 2019

Staff was great room clean, TV broken, coffee cold and\\or empty, no creamers but tip cup was present! Breakfast waffle irons broken. Extreme limit of choices. Envelope in room begging for tips. The overall place and location gorgeous but it was lipstick on a pig

"one night get away"
Quest30284233428, 21 Avril 2019

should have been told in advance that if paying with cash you have to leave a $ 300.00 cash deposit. When I explained I was never told that upon booking the front desk lady actually pulled the policy off the wall and continued to say " It's our policy". no concern that we were never told that

"We'll Be Back"
GrandTour55373606397, 16 Avril 2019

The experience begins from the unique building located in an beautiful location along a creek. The clerks were friendly and beyond what I hope to find checking-in. We had a pet-friendly room that was very clean and nicely updated. Although we were facing the street (with a nice lawn as a buffer) we could barely hear the cars which we found to be quite refreshing. It's located in a neighborhood setting and still close to everything. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Poughkeepsie.

"Peaceful night"
danaschafer2014, 27 Mars 2019

We enjoyed a quiet night in beautiful surroundings at this hotel. The highlight was the breakfast room and morning staff. So friendly and competent. The buffet offered a wide selection, including fresh fruit, a variety of juices and coffee, hot and cold options. And a view of the Falls.

"Good location for birders, visiting Poughkeepsie"
Sugismama, 13 Mars 2019

We stayed in March, and while there was still quite a bit of snow, there were lots of birds on the river behind the hotel; good spot for birders. The walls are a bit thin; we were treated to our elderly neighbors celebrating their togetherness but we were able to turn up the room fan to drown it out. Beds are comfortable, all the usual conveniences, and the place was reasonably clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly; I needed to make a number of requests and all were graciously accommodated. Breakfast was the usual, but again staff were very friendly. The entrance is a bit of a mystery at first, with no sign indicating checkin, office, entrance etc. Steps can be slippery if wet; they're stone and mossy. It's about a 10 minute drive from Poughkeepsie, not within walking distance of anything, so keep that in mind. But the rural feel, the little terrace by the river, lots of trees, make it a nice relaxing choice.

"Really Great Hotel at an Affordable Price"
Nic S, 12 Mars 2019

We stayed here for one night and really enjoyed the hotel. The room was comfortable and really spacious. The only thing I would say is to ask for more pillows, since the ones they provide are tiny! The view of the river was really nice and quiet - definitely a peaceful location that would be nice in the summer. When we checked in, we didn't realize that there was a 2 hour happy hour at the bar. You get 2 free drinks - and if you order wine, you get a solo cup full, so it is more like 4-6 glasses for free. Also, the next morning they had a wide variety of food for the complimentary breakfast. There was a waffle station with different toppings to put in or on your waffle (which was delicious), a hot food station with bacon, eggs, and sausage, a bread station with muffins, bagels, biscuits, etc, and some cereal and fruit on the side. We were stopping in Poughkeepsie while upstate for a ski weekend, so it was the perfect way to unwind at night with the free drinks and then prepare for the slopes with the nice, big breakfast. I would definitely recommend this Best Western Plus!

"Lovely setting on the river bank."
RoadWrangler, 10 Mars 2019

The hotel staff were exceptional! Though our keys weren't ready on arrival the super friendly staff worked swiftly to get us checked in. The hotel has one elevator. Our room was clean and compact. The bed was comfortable and had all non-feather pillows--great for allergy sufferers! The sheets, unfortunately, were pilled and scratchy. Each nightstand had a lamp with a power outlet at the base--perfect for charging phones and devices at bedside. The room had a microwave, mini-fridge, iron, and ironing board. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo with no mold--good job, housekeeping! But the maintenance staff needs to redo the poor caulking job at the base of the tub. The shower water pressure was great and the hot water stayed hot. There was a multi-speed hairdryer under the sink. The towels were small but absorbent. The free WiFi worked well. Cellular phone signal was spotty in this location but logging in to the WiFi on my phone solved that issue. Parking is free in the hotel's open-air lot. I would happily stay here again, but would be happier if they changed over to soft sheets.

"Perfectly fit our needs"
Coastal51844793050, 18 Février 2019

Needed a close location to a very early soccer tournament. The hotel was 4 minutes away, modernized, comfortable and very clean. They even made sure the majority of breakfast items were available to us an hour earlier than scheduled.

"Quick stay"
Maps56935728828, 21 Janvier 2019

I got this hotel due to the weather and having to return to work early morning the next day. The room was big, updated and clean. The bed was comfortable. The only complaint I have were my immediate neighbors. They were very loud and I could hear them through the walls. It was difficult to fall asleep especially when having to get up very early to return to work.

"The only place we stay in Poughkeepsie"
Slstiles, 20 Janvier 2019

Even though the hotel is about 15 minutes further away from our daughter's than other hotels, ever since we discovered Best Western the Inn at the Falls 3 years ago this is the only place we stay when visiting our daughter and her family. The staff, cleanliness, and amenities far exceed comparably priced hotels in the area. Every staff member we have encountered has been friendly, helpful, welcoming and professional. The rooms have always been clean, the lobby lounge area is clean, comfortable and looks out over the stream and falls. Although we usually do not get back in time to participate, there is a happy hour in the evenings where guests can enjoy complimentary wine or beer. There is a well equipped fitness center that is open until 10 and one computer in a small alcove in the lobby for guest use. Unsecured WiFi and parking are included. The variety of breakfast foods available is excellent and the hot dishes are always fresh. We usually stay 2 nights every 5 or 6 weeks. The value for the price is outstanding. If you are looking for a 5 star luxury resort this is not for you, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, small, homey hotel with a great staff you will love this place.

"Great value"
Global43494061926, 04 Janvier 2019

This hotel is in a beautiful setting, right on a scenic creek.with falls. We asked for and were assigned a room that overlooked the falls. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom clean and the price was very reasonable. The internet worked great. We were greeted warmly at the front desk. We were given a list of local restaurants, and the one we chose was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very enjoyable with plenty of options. The breakfast attendant interacted with all the guests to make sure we were satisfied. Not every hotel does this. A very good experience.

"Great little hotel for the price"
Paul B, 11 Décembre 2018

This was an inexpensive little gem. It was quiet and clean. Our room looked over a stream. The room was good-sized, with 2 queen beds and a sofa. Nice shower. They offered about 8 free movie channels, which was nice. Staff was pleasant. Nothing bad to say. It was off the beaten path a bit, but still conveniently located. It was nice to have a place that was not on a main street with lots of traffic. Highly recommend.

"Quick getaway"
NorthStar643925, 21 Novembre 2018

We were offered directions to my destination while staying and was treated warmly and respectfully, we felt comfortable in this hotel and it was very clean! I hope to return in the spring. The 2 woman at the front were top- notch professionals who made us feel at home.

"Fine for a short family stay"
Zekebp, 10 Novembre 2018

The location is really nice, nestled in the woods, 10 minutes away from Vassar, with Wappinger creek flowing right next to the porch outside the dining area. And, the suite we got was large and convenient. But, there is something so outdated and a bit unkempt about this hotel that is just a shame. The inside feels like a barracks, with dark corridors. And most everything could simply use some updating. The breakfast area is fine, with all the offerings you'd expect at a Best Western: bacon and eggs, some cereal, muffins and warm coffee. There is nothing particularly wrong with this place; and the bottom line is, it is fine to stay here.

"Terrible! Paper Thin Walls, You will HEAR EVERYTHING. Shower very Slippery"
Resort687987, 07 Novembre 2018

All the front desk staff were very kind, warm, and professional. The woman who cleaned our room was wonderful. But there is only so much a great staff can do in a property the owner, sadly, seems to care nothing about and does not maintain. Shame on the owner for allowing what must once have been a unique building in a lovely setting to deteriorate so badly. Maintenance is sorely needed. A towel rack was literally falling off the wall, the bathroom fixtures are rusty or coming apart, a lampshade was falling apart, window drapes, even the couch had filthy spots on them, windows were dirty. Paint jobs everywhere were sloppy or paint had been scraped off of doors. Shower VERY SLIPPERY. Lighting is dingy, old compact fluorescent bulbs, some with no diffusers. The walls need to be built out because you can hear EVERYTHING in the next room, and your bed will move! Paper thin walls so you can even hear normal level conversation . No real privacy. It is very unrestful. And we were in a suite! We had to leave early because it was so awful, cutting short our anniversary weekend. What a shock and a disappointment. The official photos and the way it is advertised are totally misleading. Bypass this shoddy motel in disguise. Sent from my iPhone

"Nice staff, paper thin walls"
Joanne E, 02 Novembre 2018

The staff was very kind and helpful and the suite was spacious. The walls are paper thin and I guarantee if there are people in the room behind you, you will not get any peace or rest. The wall construction is very poor.

"Best Western Poughkeepsie, NY"
James W, 01 Novembre 2018

Somewhat unique BW in a quiet wooded area. Very nice setting for a hotel. Building was very unique and welcoming. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was OK but offered a view of the river behind the hotel. There is a small bar/lounge area and complimentary glass of wine or beer provided during a happy hour. High speed internet access was sketchy at best.

"Photo not indicative of Quality "
Lynn H, 15 Octobre 2018

Spent one night while touring the area. Arrived late and hoped to sleep in. Uncontrolled non-parented children yelling in halls in the morning made this not possible. Maybe reserve some rooms in a corridor for tired late arrivals. Breakfast offered usual unhealthy options. No bananas or fresh fruit. Skip it. Would not stay here if you want to rest.

"Relaxing Stay "
chamberlincrew, 25 Septembre 2018

My husband and I stayed one night here on a trip through the Catskills and Hudson Valley, and the one word to describe our stay would be relaxing. The hotel is right along a creek with little water falls. We sat out on the deck and watched some ducks swim by in the evening. There's a happy hour 5:30-7:30 that includes 2 free glasses of wine or beer. The front desk clerk, who was also the bartender, recommended a great restaurant to us, Mill House Brewing Company, which was only about 10 minutes from the hotel. Our room had a king sized bed, which was very comfortable, with lots of pillows and blankets. There was also a fridge, microwave, desk, pull out couch, and a bench, so the room was a little crowded. Everything was clean, and the bathroom was well-stocked with towels and toiletries. I used the fitness room in the morning, and there was a treadmill, elliptical, bike, and weights. Then we headed down for the free continental breakfast, which was way more food than we expected - omelets, bacon, bagels, pastries, yogurt with toppings to make parfaits, make your own waffle station, fruit, cereal, coffee, and juices. The woman working the breakfast area was constantly cleaning and restocking. Overall, one of our best hotel stays and for a very reasonable price, around 130. Definitely recommend this hotel!

"All the Essentials are here, but needs TLC"
Waterfrontguy, 24 Septembre 2018

Stayed 2 nights here for a weekend getaway, place was busy, and nice scenic spot next to a river. First glance it's a nice layout, not just another cookie cutter hotel. All the components are here for a great place & stay, but my take was it needs staff & TLC. Our bathroom looked beat & neglected (see pictures), not sure when the floor had actually been truly cleaned (debris in the corners - behind bath door looked untouched forever), and wall outlet with broken plaster & rusty tissue dispenser did not add to the ambience. Upside was a decent little room w/Microwave + Fridge, and view out window to river was nice. However the windows throughout the place looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages, again just some TLC would make a huge difference here. I feel for what we paid we should have gotten a cleaner facility and more staff.

"Save Your Marriage, Too - Stay Here!"
jgitcar, 10 Septembre 2018

We were heading up to Copake Falls for a camping trip when it started to monsoon on the Taconic Parkway. We decided that setting up a tent in the pouring rain did not sound like a fun way to spend our Friday night, so we told our friends we would see them Saturday morning and started looking for a hotel. North of Poughkeepsie, there are slim pickins...especially if you are looking for something after 9:00 PM, as most of the mom & pop places close. We were able to find a room here, and made our way, even though it meant backtracking a bit. The room was big and dry, which is what we were looking for. Beds were comfortable - and there was even a small bar on site so we could have a drink and forget about our drive. Since we were just passing through, we did not get to see or use many of the amenities. We did have some breakfast Saturday morning, and looked out over the almost flooding river. Typical breakfast food - cereal, waffles, some omelettes. Good, but nothing special. Price was reasonable as well - about $211 after taxes for a weekend night. My wife is not a camper, and was dreading the thought of going to a campsite in the pouring rain. She told me staying here may have saved our marriage. Since she probably would have stuck me with our three kids, I am glad it was saved!

"Terrible Stay"
Randi F, 09 Septembre 2018

Our room smelled like a musty damp dirty sponge. The a/c didn't work well and made the musty smell worse. We called the front desk to complain and their option was to spray Lysol. The bed and pillows were so bad, we hardly slept. We were exhausted when we left. I mentioned to the front desk how terrible everything was and I'm still waiting for a response from the manager. If you provide a hotel service, the room shouldn't smell, the pillows and bed should be comfortable and lysol should not be the answer. This wasn't our first stay at the hotel and was very disappointed.

"Large rooms"
Gugusi007, 07 Septembre 2018

This hotels offers large rooms. The room has a TV, a microwave, a fridge and a coffee machine. Happy hour from 530 to 700. Breakfast with cheese stuffed eggs, hamburger, waffles, cornflakes, yogurt, juices, bagels and coffee. I loved to stay at the hotel! And I slept very well. Loved it!

"Fine Place for a Stay."
Frank C, 06 Septembre 2018

We stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago and immediately thought of a repeat stay as we headed from our home outside of Washington, DC, to New England. The hotel is beautifully situated along a lovely brook. Sitting out on the verandah with one (or two) of the hotel's free happy hours glasses of wine in the company of a couple of egrets is a great way to relax from the rigors of the auto trip. The room was comfortable and well furnished, bathroom functional and efficient, and the breakfast very nice with waffles, some hot items (eggs, bacon, sausage), fresh fruit, cereals and more. The check-in and -out were handled efficiently and by most friendly people and all in all once again it was a most enjoyable experience. We find this to be one of our favorite Best Westerns after having traveled through all 50 states.

"Very Disappointing!!!!"
InsExec, 24 Août 2018

We had heard very good things about this hotel but they must have been dated. The hotel did look tired and old fashioned. We had reserved their finest suite but were extremely disappointed. Upon entering the room the furniture, fixtures and carpeting looked in immediate need of renovation. The TV dresser and night table had a sticky substance on them. There was a metal bottle cap on the carpet by the bed (accident waiting to happen if stepped on), ugly stains inside the mini-fridge, peeled paint around all the bath tub jacuzzi jets, and the final straw........a used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. At that point, we checked out and went elsewhere.

"4 star at 2 star price"
jenniferbE5950OT, 17 Août 2018

Its was a pleasure staying at the hotel. It was clean staff was very nice. The breakfast was very good. The overall appearance was nice. It on the water. Adequate parking and very close to gas station.

"College week visits "
emsrhope, 15 Août 2018

Stayed here for one night during our college week search. I LOVED the way it looked on line, however, I was very disappointed when we actually arrived. The hotel is small and cozy, but reeks of mold and mildew. I usually try to work out daily, but I took one look at the room, and couldn't do it. It was hot, dark and Very Moldy smelling. The room itself also smelled bad when we walked in. This did abate once the a/c cooled the room, but was still there, but slight. The a/c had a hard time cooling the room, and made a lot of noise. We arrived late and tried to order pizza. We were lucky as one place agreed to deliver...even though they were closing soon. I believe the name was Joe Cristiano's. We were very thankful, and the pizza was great!! We also had a water view. Difficult to see as the windows were very foggy. Also noted an inch of dirt/dust on the windowsill when I tried to take a pic of the water. There were also several pieces of hair on the floor in the bathroom when we checked in...not any of ours. If you are looking for very clean, neat and updated...I would NOT recommend this place. However, I Must mention the terrific woman at the front desk, Octavia. She was very kind to everyone she came in contact with, and always had a smile on her face! Also, the free breakfast was also terrific! Make your own waffles, both blueberry and regular...eggs, plain and with veggies, cold cereals, bagels and muffins, coffee and juices. Wish they had oatmeal...I heard they had packets, but I would have loved if they had it already cooked. Beautiful patio area outside breakfast area too... overlooking the falls. Pretty and Peaceful.Had some very good points and a bunch of not so good too. Pix below...waffles, view from outside breakfast nook...and dirty windowsill.

"Great Find!!!"
David P, 07 Août 2018

This was a GREAT find!! Complimentary wine or beer on arrival, very clean and a great breakfast next day!!! We were able to get a view of the river/falls. Air conditioner was very quiet, and we ordered take out from a restaurant close by. I highly recommend this place to stay when you go to Poughkeepsie,

"Beautiful building & relaxing grounds"
obrienm544, 30 Juillet 2018

Very pleasant & helpful staff at front desk. Hotel is different from most in that it looks like a restoration project of an old factory. Rooms are spacious and clean. Outside patio and grounds are beautiful, as you can sit bu running water. Nice are and plenty of restaurants nearby.

"Alongside the river"
Vickie V, 30 Juillet 2018

The setting for this hotel is worth the visit. Enjoy breakfast inside or out alongside the river. Lush forest on the other side. A doe and two fawns tiptoed down for a drink of water while I drank my tea.

"Great, Affordable Hotel in a Beautiful Setting"
raineyoroville, 27 Juillet 2018

We wanted a centrally located town to explore the area and we chose Poughkeepsie. This Best Western is small and located outside of town on a river. Our room faced the river and was very nice. The breakfast was good, the staff very friendly and helpful, and they offered a happy hour of wine and beer.

"Excellent Staff, Comfortable Bed, Great Room"
blues4545, 25 Juillet 2018

Will on a motorcycle ride from Baltimore to Maine and back with 7 friends we stopped here for the night. The check-in clerk was very nice and she made us feel welcome and did a great job. The rooms décor is very nice and the beds are very comfortable. They don't have a restaurant on site but do have a bar. Breakfast was very good. Ralph who I believe is a manager was very helpful at check-out. So loved the hotel and the staff is great.

"Don't Mistake This for an Inn"
Isabellarcher, 22 Juillet 2018

We stayed in a river view room with two double beds and it was depressing. Ugly furniture, dark, very 1980s motel. Scratchy sheets. Paid $223 for the night. Would have been fine for $125. The breakfast was the usual motel breakfast with a few tables outside by the stream, which was nice.

"Great hotel with a great price"
Malinda S, 22 Juillet 2018

We really enjoyed this hotel. The hotel and room were clean and neat with great decor. The staff were all great and it was comfortable enough to hang out in the lobby. The view out back is great and you're looking over a creek. We were upgraded to a suite and it had a Jacuzzi tub which was awesome. There is a hot breakfast and my only critique is to have more hot sides and have scrambled eggs too. They had little omelets and always a meat side. We just got sick of omelets. The pillows were comfortable and the bed was firmer then I'm used to but that's just me. I didn't sleep well because I was in a new place but everyone else slept great. Our overall stay was magnificent in a beautiful place.

"Unexpected Surprise!"
Steve P, 16 Juillet 2018

I never would've guessed this property was a Best Western. They've certainly upped their game! My brother and I were traveling to attend to some family business, and we had two separate stays here over a two week period. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our first room was a regular room with two queen beds and the second was a suite with a sofa sleeper. The sofa sleeper, surprisingly, wasn't uncomfortable at all. The staff was first rate. In particular, Sandy (Sandra?) went above and beyond to see that our stay was smooth and drama free. If every hotel in the world had nothing but Sandy's on their staffs, every hotel would be getting five star reviews. She was an absolute rock star. The only two issues I had were these: The A/C, while it worked, didn't get really cold. It was very comfortable, but we like the room to be a bit cold while we sleep, and we never quite got there. During the second stay, the control panel would just flash whenever I hit a button, and it was stuck at 67 degrees (which was fine, although it didn't really feel like 67 degrees. The second issue was with the breakfast. English muffins and toast and cereals were fine, but the omelettes were pretty disgusting. When you cut into an omelette, you don't expect to here it crunch. They were very hard and, for the most part, pretty inedible. Only one day were they barely palatable. All in all, though, I would stay here again.

"Nice property, stinky room"
jbtVTer, 11 Juillet 2018

Got the room on Hotwire for little over a hund all in, so if you pay full price and don't have pets I hope your mileage will vary. With the amenities and location this price would be a fair to good deal, but given the room I got I would not stay here again booking through a "deal" site. This place takes pets, and the room I'm in (100) smells like 8 ferrets, 10 cats, and a pack of great danes lived in here from 1980 until an hour before I arrived. If you've ever unknowingly bit into fish that's gone very bad and tasted that old ammonia in the back of your throat, it's like that, every breath I take. Almost gag every time I enter the room. Get somewhat used to it after my nostrils clog up, but really - BW, I'm sure you charge a premium for guests who stay here with pets. Give some of that to your housekeepers to do a deep clean! This is completely unacceptable, and I'm not a high maintenance guest. I mean, the last a-BnB I stayed in didn't even change the sheets from the last guest and I didn't complain. In the hundreds (thousands?) of hotels I've stayed in, this room is the worst I've ever smelled. A lot of it seems to be coming from the AC unit, but can't tell if that's just because it picked it up from the room, or something is dead in there, or what. On the bright side, they give you two free drinks between 5-7, fitness center is OK and has some free weights and a small universal machine, view of the river off the patio is nice, room has fridge and microwave. I'd give it all up if I could breathe in here! Location is about 5 mins drive to nearest restaurant and double that to anything really happening, kind of middle of nowhere. Find it hard to believe they have enough parking onsite when the place is fully booked, small lots, so definitely don't come here with a big truck.

"Clean and Comfortable"
bcbcbc, 02 Juillet 2018

We stayed for one night on our way to Cape Cod. We (group of six) stayed at Inn at the Falls 9 years ago before it was a Best Western. We still found it to be a lovely spot to spend the night. The location is peaceful and surrounded by trees. I note some reviews mention that it is hard to find, but our GPS took us right to it, The rooms are perhaps a little drab, but they were very clean. The breakfast was decent; your typical hotel complementary breakfast. We love to sit out on the patio beside the river to enjoy our breakfast. The Happy Hour sounds like a neat Idea, but our schedule did not allow it. I do agree with an earlier review that said there should be a dress code for the front desk...we did not get a good impression when we first arrived, Also, we often saw staff sitting outside in groups, smoking at the entrance. That does not give off a particularly professional impression. However the staff members we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. The price was great for the area. We would stay again.

"Nice long weekend "
bijouxabby, 18 Juin 2018

The location is peaceful and quite, albeit not easy to find the first time. The young lady at check-in was lovely as was all of the staff we encountered. Our room was pleasant and at the very end of the hall on the parking lot side; so there was lots of noise from the outside when people parked and entered. The room itself was very clean as was the bathroom, the fixtures were modern. My only complaints are the electronic key did not work twice even after going back to the front desk to rekeying it, so I choose to sit on the dirty hallway carpet until my husband finished his shower. And the remote control for the TV was dirty upon are arrival. All else aside, when we return to area again, we would definitely stay here again.

"Mixed Review"
NL144, 13 Juin 2018

First, let me say that the staff was delightful! The location on Wappinger Creek is lovely. Cocktail hour is free wine or beer (2/per) just ask the desk clerk to pour. Breakfast is pretty good. Now the down sides: A few miles from downtown area and access to attractions. NOT very clean. Property is a little beaten up. That would be OK but the room had cobwebs, splatter on the bathroom walls & door and filthy looking/stained curtains.

"need more mature front desk"
let r, 09 Juin 2018

this is an attractive place, but we were at the very end of one of the long halls, and it was terribly inconvenient to the rest of the hotel. breakfast was average; i kept wanting a decent banana, but they were brown every morning. the front desk was manned while we were there by young people who seemed completely clueless as to the attractions available around them, and how to get to them. their dress code was non existent and a little rough on the eyes. i can't speak to the happy hour since we didn't participate; something about having to walk that hall again, i think. it's in a decent location for most of the sites; i had read it's very convenient to Vassar; more of a distance to the FDR stuff. the beds were comfortable enough, but warning - they are crazy high. if you are shorter than 5'3", you will have to do a running jump. it really was a challenge for my short legs. we hope to go back to the area; there's so much to see and do. but i doubt we'll stay here again, even though i was impressed with blueberry batter for the waffles.

"Nice view by the river"
chwang3, 23 Mai 2018

Very pleasant stay at this hotel. They offered happy hours in the afternoon with free alcohols and snacks. Peace location and clean room, my only complaint would be the bed and pillows were too soft until I got neck pain in the morning. Free hot breakfast in the morning as well. I'll recommend this hotel!

"Recommended -- if you know how to get there"
Susan K, 09 Mai 2018

We stayed here at the end of September 2017 for two nights. This is a very attractive modern hotel in a wooded, almost secluded, setting. The parking lot has attractive landscaping, although I think they could use a few more lights there as we could barely see to unload our luggage when we arrived after dark. We enjoyed the continental breakfasts and the lovely view of the creek and woods from the tall windows and outdoor patio by the lounge. Our room was clean and comfortable. There's complimentary wine or beer at happy hour, and the front desk manager on our second day went to a great deal of trouble to make sure my choice of beer was stocked and chilled. We really appreciated the computer with internet access in the lounge area for researching local places to dine because at that time we did not have a "handheld device" to do that. This was our first trip to Poughkeepsie and there was a mix-up on our arrival as the front desk person thought we had already checked in. This caused us some anxiety until she got it straightened out because we knew the hotel was fully booked that night. She finally got it corrected and we got a room upgrade as a result, but in the morning I realized she had only set us up for one night, but our confirmed reservation was for two nights. The morning front desk person was very helpful in correcting this and she and her associates were very pleasant about giving us directions to the various places we planned to visit in the area and for commiserating with us about the idiosyncrasies of Poughkeepsie's roadways. For us it was very irritating trying to find our way back each time we returned to the hotel from dining or site seeing because of the hotel's secluded location, the numerous one way streets, and the "no left hand turns" whenever we needed to go left. We did learn from a life-time resident, however, that if you are visiting Vassar, this hotel is a straight shot from the center of campus. So we definitely understand why other reviewers have said this is their hotel of choice when staying in Poughkeepsie.

"Great overnight venue"
nadinevicenzi, 30 Avril 2018

Very convenient, clean, great service and bonus Happy Hour in comfortable lobby area. Also sat on back deck overlooking water. Bathroom sink area kind of all but easy to overlook if it's a short stay.

"Our lodging of choice in the Poughkeepsie area"
charleswitek, 27 Avril 2018

We've stayed at this facility a number of times in the past fifteen months when attending events or visiting with friends in the area. It is a well-maintained facility in a pleasant location, peopled with helpful and friendly staff. On our most recent stay, we ended up in a suite for the first time, as we booked late and the single rooms were all taken; although the suite was more than we needed, the spacious living space, with plenty of room to work, a sink, microwave, refrigerator and small dining table, along with sofa, desk and TV, would have been perfect for a longer work or leisure stay, while the jacuzzi was perfect for working out road kinks. The breakfast selection is good and the dining area clean and roomy. In the warmer months, it is pleasant to sit out on the patio overlooking Wappingers Creek river in the evening, enjoying a glass of wine and watching the herons hunt along the shore as swallows chase insects above the water. Over all, a good place to stay,.

"recent stay"

Nice hotel clean, well staffed, breakfast was good lot of choices from oatmeal, cereal, eggs, waffles, bagels etc, coffee was also good; beds comfortable; saw a lot of families there; pretty easy highway accessibility. free beer/wine at management hour.

"Very Comfortable and Friendly"
TXGal123, 11 Avril 2018

We stayed here for 2 nights. The staff is over the top friendly and helpful. We had a suite which made it very comfortable to have guest come and visit. Would definitely stay here again if in the area !

"College Visit"
jennfrblyons, 08 Avril 2018

We stayed at The Best Western Plus the Inn & Suites At the Falls briefly in between college visits in New York state. Sandy checked us in. She was warm, kind, and welcoming...a very appreciated, friendly face after driving through some horrible weather. Our room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was an added bonus. It was a great pitstop to refresh, and continue with our visits.

"Sandy was awesome"
mburger385, 06 Avril 2018

Sandy needed to work the late shift unexpectedly. She was friendly and helpful and just a nice person. She made my stay more enjoyable just because she was friendly and outgoing. If I was the manager I'd give her a raise.

"Great staff-pleasant stay"
Kate G, 06 Avril 2018

Nice stay. Super staff- very pleasant n helpful. Off the beaten path with beautiful view from breakfast, lounge area. Good breakfast with the regular stuff like yogurt, bagels, yogurt, cereal n waffles. Also had fried eggs, sausage and bacon. Rooms were clean. Shower was hot. Room temp was good n no noise from the heater, beds were comfy.

"Great hotel!"
Kathleen7301, 03 Mars 2018

Great hotel! Spent two nights this past summer here. The hotel was clean and our room was very spacious. Nice breakfast in the mornings and enjoyed a drink or two on the back patio at night. Would definitely stay again!

"Beautiful river views"
Howard M, 03 Mars 2018

Wonderful river view from most rooms. Color of hotel and room somber browns. A bit depressing. Good continental breakfast included. Free wine or beer at happy hour. Comfortable bed. Rooms a bit small.

"Liked it"
patricia w, 27 Février 2018

This is a nice BW. We had a suite that overlooked the water. Lots of room, lovely view. Bar was open late. Breakfast was so so. Close to many restaurants. We would go back. Jacuzzi had seen its better days but it worked.

"Decent Accommodations for the Price"
Bruce M, 24 Janvier 2018

Bedding was clean, and bed was comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner (a quick vacuum would have done the trick), so that is why I gave 4 out of 5. The breakfast setup was quite nice, with everything from toasted bagels to cereal to waffles, if you wanted; the beverage and food stations were kept clean and well supplied.

"Great Hotel"
Steph_horm, 08 Janvier 2018

Very nice staff and made us feel welcomed. The room was spacious and was very clean. Breakfast was included, which is definitely a nice plus. The property is very beautiful, which was nice to see on Christmas day! I would recommend and will hopefully come back to soon.

"Friendly personnel with comfortable rooms"
Barbara L, 03 Janvier 2018

My husband & I & another couple spent Christmas Eve here after visiting with our son, daughter-in-law & grandkids. We had such a pleasant visit that we plan to return. I love the set-up of the rooms & the complementary breakfast was tasty & had a beautiful view of a river & waterfalls. If you are in the area, give this place a try.

"Our Christmas Getaway "
mobass5, 03 Janvier 2018

My family and I along with my cousin & family stayed at the Best Western plus at the Falls in Poughkeepsie during the Christmas holidays & we had a wonderful time there. First of all a great staff who caters to your every need with pleasantries & I mean really pleasant because they go out of their way to please the guests staying there. They have a good breakfast there, not just continental but a full breakfast as well according to what you prefer. The rooms are nice, ours overlooked a lake view with ducks floating in the water which was so nice to see & the rooms are equipped with amenities such as refrigerator, microwave, coffee, tea, iron & board. The area is safe and quiet, the hotel is just a nice one to stay at & we would definitely stay there again, we had a great time.

"Overnight Stay"
brianne g, 03 Janvier 2018

I stayed here for one night as it is close to my boyfriends parents house. The woman who checked me in couldn't have been nicer and was able to get us checked in a little earlier than we expected to be there. I will definitely stay here again.

"A welcome port in the storm"
440maryen, 27 Décembre 2017

Our plans to travel to Canada via train were unexpectedly and suddenly interrupted. We had to find lodging quickly on a Saturday snowy evening. Fortunately, we are BW rewards members and had our computer, called and they said of course please come. The reception was warm, they had two places to eat, one attached to the hotel. The young man at reception that evening was so welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean. The coffee in the morning was spectacular, best ever.

"Well-kept, clean, reasonable"
Momof2Paris_Boston, 13 Décembre 2017

Everything was reasonably clean. The "happy hour" and breakfast were generous perks. The beds were good, and seemed to be clean. A solid choice at the right price point. I'd say that I'd rather have a more interested staff than free wine and/or breakfast. They were fine, but the hotel was pretty empty, and I was alone. Yet they put me on the ground floor, with windows that open.... way at the back of the place overlooking the parking lot. Since rooms are the same to clean (or even easier, as I had 2 beds for 1 person, but I used both, because the first thing I do in an hotel is check the beds, and I don't put my stuff on bedspreads. So one bed would have saved work. There were also what seemed to be the entire cluster of guests right around where I was, as well as the back door, which was not well-lit, had a "smoking station", and seemed a bit less than secure. Someone was smoking pot outside, or in their room-- I smelled it on 4 different occasions. That's not the hotel's fault, but I have worked in hospitality, and if you can give a guest a better experience, just off the bat, you do, because it really doesn't take anything more than a keystroke or two on the computer. The room was large, and fine, wi-fi was great etc. But I could not help but wonder why I could not have been put in a room with a view (many were empty), or given one bed, when I said "I only need one bed". I think the staff needs training, and/or the hotel managers/owners need to make clear how to make guests feel the most comfortable as they can. They seemed fairly uninterested in that.

"Adequate, But Unpleasant"
BobMarvin, 12 Décembre 2017

We stayed at this hotel once before it was taken over by Best Western and it hasn't improved fo the beter, The rooms are VERY drab, accented by the institutional cool-white lighting. The breakfast, while not inedible, is far below the standard set by highway rest stops.

"Average hotel, above-average location"
mr_dendrocacalia, 10 Décembre 2017

I really like the location of this hotel for my Vassar visits -- it is much better than staying out on route 9, although there are no restaurants nearby. The rooms that face the river are nice and quiet. Always my first choice when in town.

"Love this place!"
Nikquenum, 09 Décembre 2017

We stayed at this Best Western a year ago and we're looking forward to returning. Our room was upgraded to a water view and it was delightful. I especially enjoyed the complimentary wine, served in the lounge. On our previous trip we really enjoyed the breakfast. This visit we decided to sleep in, so missed the breakfast buffet which ended at 9:30. I'm already looking forward to our next visit!

"Great stay"
Mark T, 07 Décembre 2017

Very nice place to stay! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean and were a nice size. Not far from restaurants. The design of the hotel is unique and room had nice view

"Great Stay for Cross Country Championships"
NewJerseySharon123, 27 Novembre 2017

Our Cross Country girls team stayed here Friday and Saturday to compete at Boudin Park. We had a great stay! The rooms were large, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Stephanie at the front desk was amazing! She brought us up a roll away bed and extra towels for the our family and took care of all of us at the complimentary happy hour. She was the only staff there and did everything herself and was very helpful and cheerful. Earlier in the week, she helped me pick a restaurant near the hotel to to have a team dinner Friday night. We thank Stephanie for her hospitality and look forward to returning next year as a team.

"Best western at the falls... WOW"
paul b, 25 Novembre 2017

I would just say that if your choosing hotels I will give you a good reference for Best Western due to both times I've stayed with them this year it had been a great experience. They made a negative situation, turn positive.

"Average Hotel - Paper thin walls"
ricketsia, 18 Novembre 2017

The hotel is away from most road noise as it is in a residential area. The hotel is dated and the walls are paper thin. The door is not well sealed, so any hallway noise is loud in the room. The breakfast food was standard carb fare. On the outskirts of the Town of Poughkeepsie.

"Average stay"
patb1248, 13 Novembre 2017

Nice hotel, certain areas outside (i.e.stairs to Exit doors) could have been cleaner. Nice looking hotel on the outside. Rooms a little dark. Staff was excellent. Breakfast was good. Could use an ATM for convenience for people staying there.

"Best Western Poughkeepsie NY"
wpturner, 25 Octobre 2017

Facility has a very nice configuration, near a beautiful babbling stream. Building inside and out Needs a lot of TLC, but could be a great place. Kitchen staff needs training very poor service. Bar staff was very professional, She was always their for you.

"Fantastic stay"
BaltimoreSkiBob, 21 Octobre 2017

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The rooms we nice size and quiet. We had 2 luggage racks which was nice. Microwave and refrigerator in tr room is always useful. The 2 free drinks at happy hour were a bonus. The lounge area overlooks the creek which is pretty. Overall this was an excellent experience. It's about 4 miles back to route 9 but it's a short distance to good restaurants.

"Best Western Poughkeepski NY"
trisha c, 19 Octobre 2017

We had an excellent stay here. Hotel was clean and employees were very attentive. We visited Hyde Park, Roosevelt House, Library and Museum and Culinary Institute of America and they were all within a 20 minute ride. We also did the Hudson Walkway which was also very close. Really enjoyed the free breakfast and the happy hour drinks. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

"Hudson Weekend"
Jennifer P, 17 Octobre 2017

Out of the hustle and bustle of downtown is this place of serenity. We enjoyed a glass of wine every evening on the terrace with a stream passing by. It was so restful. The addition of a breakfast just made the experience. Loved the apple-cinnamon waffles.

"Clean and nice"
Nan S, 16 Octobre 2017

The hotel was clean and the staff polite and helpful. The lounge/restaurant was very loud during our check-in. That was a bit off putting as we were tired from several hours of driving. We also found one of the washing machines did not spin causing us to redo the load in another washer. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. Overall, a good experience.

"Marginal hotel in a marginal city"
Darren W, 13 Octobre 2017

Do not believe ONE picture in this hotels advertising. Also for some reason that passes understanding, Poughkeepsie's hotels go from 89 bucks on the week days to almost 300 dollars for the weekend for no reason that I can comprehend. I am here for a wedding - the place smelled like cleaning fluid when I arrived. The room is roomy and relatively clean. The person at the desk had a cold so I felt like i needed to disinfect myself before going to the wedding. There is a bar...marginal..there is no restaurant. And this place is located so far from anything you don't want to be here. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom clean so if you are in the week or on a budget come be here, but I am paying almost $300 for a crappy room and crappy experience. STAY AWAY - this is not worth the money, but from what I saw from the Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott, nothing in this town is worth it - it is all crap - go north - do not come to this town - they are ripping you off.

"Marginal"
Harpo5NJ, 09 Octobre 2017

For the rate available and paid - I would find another place to stay. The decor was dated and lacked a thorough cleaning. The windows and drapery where old, dusty and stained. The stairway and wall-way carpets needed cleaning;

"Best western Inn at the falls Poughkeepsie"
Diane T, 06 Octobre 2017

This is the second time that I stayed here. My friends also booked this at my suggestion and were very pleased. The location is lovely and quiet. The rooms are great. Nothing but great d things to say

"Pleasant stay"
Elaine T, 03 Octobre 2017

This hotel was in a lovely setting and was very acceptable for our stay. They offered a varied breakfast, unlike most of the hotels we had just stayed at in New England. The complementary wine at happy hour was a nice perk at the end of our site-seeing day. the room was clean and spacious, although the internet was a bit slow and did not completely work with out phones in the room. We would definitely stay at this location again, should we visit in the area.

"Awesome Stay"
maryannr896, 25 Septembre 2017

First time at the Best Western Plus in Poughkeepse and was pleasantly surprised! They offered a happy hour on Saturday night and we lounged outside that night watching the stars. Will definitely stay again.

"Almost Quaint"
Layover, 24 Septembre 2017

I really like Best Westerns and this one was picked because of it's proximity to waterfalls. I didn't actually see a falls but there was a nice stream that ran past my window. It was quiet and kind of tucked back away from everything else. The evening happy hour was a bonus and i liked that you could sit outside by the water. From the train station it was about a $20 cab ride. You should know that if you don't have a car, you're kind of cut off. It's not like being in a hotel on a busy street with an Applebees across the parking lot and a Chipotle on the corner. For food, the only real option was a KIND of dicey walk to a place called Gibsons. Not dicey because of the neighborhood but because you need to dodge across a pretty busy road and there are no sidewalks. It's about five minutes away and REALLY good.

"Beautiful setting"
Mary S, 24 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting in the area. The hotel's appearance is a little unusual and the rooms are a little tired. Our welcome was unusual because for some unknown reason the manager on duty had notice from an unknown source that we were "no shows". That was remedied quickly although we never found the reason for the confusion. We fortunately DID have rooms and the desk quickly, friendly, and efficiently checked us in. The first evening, we had reservations for tour and dinner at the CIA which was a short drive away. The next night we came back from a day of sight-seeing and took part in the complimentary happy hour. The ambiance was so pleasant we extended our time on the deck overlooking the stream. Staff recommended a good pizza delivery and we spent the balance of the daylight on the deck watching the fly fishermen. Very pleasant location and the staff was great.

"Expensive and depressing"
V9233AXkerrym, 18 Septembre 2017

I don't often write bad reviews but this was a spectacular fail in value. Room was large and expensive but depressing and icky. Not the fault of cleaning staff who did their job admirably. Window treatments and shower really icky with age.

"The Inn at the Falls"
susanfX4080XK, 13 Septembre 2017

Lovely hotel, nice view of the water, pleasant staff, comfortable rooms. I would highly recommend this hotel if you have business or vacation plans in the area. It was convenient to the Dutchess County Rail Trail.

"Very Nice"
184nataliee, 12 Septembre 2017

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this hotel for a festival in the area. The rooms are neat and clean and they have a nice continental breakfast and small bar with cocktail hour also. The fitness center is just okay. The outside area at the falls is very pleasant as both times I was there the weather was nice. I would recommend this hotel if someone needed to be in the Poughkeepsie area and the price was good.

"Solid but not inspiring"
BOrritt240, 10 Septembre 2017

This hotel looks to be custom-built and of fairly recent construction. Our room was spacious and comfortable; and the staff were friendly and competent. I couldn`t help feeling, however, that more could be done to make it more appealing. The carpets are dull; the lighting is unflattering; the breakfast has very limited healthy options. It is as if the service has been delivered to standard specifications from the franchisor, and the franchisee has not looked critically at setting higher levels of quality. The potential is certainly there; the site is attractive, the structure is sound. It wouldn`t cost a fortune to raise the bar.

"Enjoyable stay at Best Western Plus Poughkeepsie, NY"
Craig R, 05 Septembre 2017

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel building was in a quiet area and looked good from the outside. The suite was sizeable, and had a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. There was a great breakfast selection of hot and cold items, and the breakfast area overlooks a stream and has a quiet outdoor seating area also. The staff were all very friendly.

"On a Whim"
paketa, 04 Septembre 2017

We booked this hotel on a whim due to photos online. GPS helped us arrive without getting lost. Staff upgraded us to a suite that was wonderful, but I think it could have been cleaner as the bathroom tile grout showed mold and windows were very dirty on the outside - but that could have been due to storms (still the room was wonderful and we would return). The only negative was finding a place to eat. The inn had a list of places but no directions or distances to them, and unless you used GPS or knew the area, it would be hard to find them. We actually made a reservation at a local restaurant but following the address listed by the inn and the restaurant's website and using GPS, we could never find the place.

"pretty location in August"
L284IMjohne, 29 Août 2017

Hotel is in pleasant area, pretty surroundings next to a small river, foliage & wildlife, tranquil setting. Local restaurants near Vassar College are very good. Hotel staff very pleasant & helpful, room was comfortable, quiet with great hot water in shower. Snacks, breakfast and even happy hour on Sat eve were wonderful. It's a 30 min drive from Stewart Airport, but in August it was enjoyable.

"Very nice hotel for a reasonable price."
Thomas G, 29 Août 2017

Spent several days in Poughkeepsie visiting the historic sights and riding the Duchess County Bike trail and High Bridge over the Hudson River. This Hotel is in a nice semi-rural setting, is convenient to every thing we wanted to do and see during our stay, has very well appointed, equipped rooms and spacious rooms and is clean and quiet. We especially liked the free daily happy hours in the pleasant little lounge where we enjoyed a pleasant time with the other guests. We would most definitely stay there again.

"Excellent"
Terry B, 26 Août 2017

We travel for about three months during the summer and so we see many hotels. This one rate at the top. Excellent conditions, clean and in a picture perfect spot. Excellent employees that are very caring. Price is great also.

"Best Best Western ever!"
Joseph N, 23 Août 2017

The view from our room and the lounge/breakfast area is gorgeous with the availability of outdoor relaxation/dining. This is the only Best Western that we have stayed in to offer the option of building your own breakfast sandwich and complimentary drinks during happy hour. When I mentioned that I could not drink the brand of beer offered because it gives me headaches, the bartender graciously substituted another brand at no charge. A great way to begin and end your day! There's a restaurant within a five minute walk with reasonably priced food and friendly staff. Great location for visiting Hyde Park away from the highway and traffic of the city.

"A lovely place"
MiddleJo, 11 Août 2017

This hotel provided a lovely place to rest for the night. Lists of extras: a patio that allowed us to eat breakfast while looking out over the pond, happy hour with two complementary drinks, friendly staff, and a peaceful setting. Loved it.

"Where to stay in Poughkeepsie"
kathleenw381, 09 Août 2017

If your staying in Poughkeepsie New York you want to stay at Inn at the Falls , It's reasonably priced , it's clean , the staff is very polite and accommodating , they serve a great breakfast with a multitude of choices and it has great views nestled right next to the Falls , it's charming and is definitely our preferred hotel !

"Great Getaway!"
decrocus, 08 Août 2017

We spent 3 nights at this clean, quiet comfortable lodge. the fresh fruit at breakfast was great, the coffee needed reheating, but we will stay here again soon. It felt safe, pleasant and everyone was very nice!

"Satisfaction at the Inn at the Falls"
419bruced, 08 Août 2017

All personel, the office and cleaning staff, were very attentive and conscientious. My room was clean and comfortable. The television had a great picture and worked well. The exterior grounds of the hotel are attractive and I feel safe there even after dark. It's a nice place.

"Another great visit"
randyl850, 05 Août 2017

Enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. We have been before and will come again. Great value for the money. Also pet-friendly. Cleaning staff were great with our large dog. Hotel is close to the small towns and also has access to the train for a visit to NYC.

"At the Falls"
Anne R, 01 Août 2017

We enjoyed our stay in Poughkeepsie very much. The area was very easy to get to and we were at our destinations in less than 20 minutes. We visited everything from Culinary Institue, Marist College, Vanserbuilts, and Roosevelts. We also went to a few wineries and breweries which were very reasonable. Will go back and stay in a heart beat...

"Would Stay Again"
Shane F, 31 Juillet 2017

Would Stay Again..... Staff were very nice...Location to train station was good.... .... rooms were clean... I believe the rooms need to be updated... but for the most part they were fine... Breakfast was good not great but good... overall 8 out of 10

"Off the beaten path"
Katherine L, 29 Juillet 2017

This was just what we needed at the end of a arduous drive from Lake George in the rain. The sun was shinning and being by a "creek" which was formerly a waterfall and sipping a complementary glass of wine was a nice end to the day. the hotel is lovely with everything you need except a swimming pool. Breakfast was complementary and though it took a minute to discover the waffle bar provided a good start to the day.

"Clean and comfortable"
chrisgW665BO, 27 Juillet 2017

This hotel was convenient to Vassar College. It was quiet and clean and the staff provided helpful dinner suggestions. Free wine or beer was offered during happy hour (a nice touch after a long day) and the breakfast was good.

"Great Stay"
F1783ZFelizabethh, 26 Juillet 2017

This hotel is quirky, but in a good way. Hotel is very clean, bathrooms are spacious, beds are way comfy, hotel staff was wonderful and 2 free beer/wine during happy hour. My only complaints is the cable went out on the tv several times for 5 minutes and what not. We also left my daughter's pillow and I was hoping that the staff would be in touch with me to arrange to get it back, but I have heard nothing...crickets

"room"
I2042VRbillh, 25 Juillet 2017

Room was not vert clean. Walls must have been paper thin as you could hear when anyone run water in the next room. Some of the fixtures were coming off the wall and the fixture in the tub wuold pull out.

"Filthy"
jth0masa, 25 Juillet 2017

We asked two different guest services staff to be sure the room was cleaned- dust bunnies, cobwebs, hair in tub, --no results. My husband and I both have scratchy throats now. UGH! Not a pleasant end to our vacation.

"Nice place that is our of the way"
bqswoops, 23 Juillet 2017

Clean. Older place that is well kept. Quiet. Very good value. Complimentary glass of wine during happy hour. We brought dinner back and sat by the water and ate. Nice way to end a very busy day that started early

"Nice view of Wappinger Creek"
Kyra H, 20 Juillet 2017

Nice hotel with a quaint view of Wappinger Creek. The hotel is alongside a creek which was pleasant to look at. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. It is a little off the main highway but easy to find.

"Great stay"
Carol M, 18 Juillet 2017

An unexpected visit to the area led us here. Not easy to find but definitely worth the persevering. Everything was top notch. Best part was the patio overlooking the water where we were able to eat breakfast. And it was a great breakfast. Something for everyone. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone needing a room when in the area.

"Wonderful Place to Stay in Hudson Valley"
Nancy_M007, 12 Juillet 2017

This property is a very unique Best Western - obviously, it used to be an 'inn' of some type. Complimentary beer/wine in the evenings and a serve yourself breakfast add to the stay. Very conveniently located so visiting the Roosevelt National Historical sites, Vanderbilt Mansion, Vassar College, Culinary Institute of America are within easy driving distance. The Front Desk Staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly to others when traveling in the area.

"good for the night"
bjTravelAdvisor, 09 Juillet 2017

Compared with other BW we stayed, it was not the best. Beds too highup, rooms had stuffy smell, lights didn't work,. We needed a night that would allow us to bring our dog. Beds were so high that my senior parents did not feel comfortable sleep. Front desk was nice and gave them a room with a sofabed. The whole place was managed by one lady. I guess the area was not very prosperous. Breakfast was continental plus eggs and sausage patties. OK.

"Great stay!"
Lisa H, 08 Juillet 2017

Lots of breakfast options, free happy hour, clean rooms, comfy beds, and friendly staff--all we could ask for. A great little find! Took a star off for the ofd smell in the hallway (smoke?) but the room smelled fine.

"My 4th"
jenniferbE5950OT, 06 Juillet 2017

The room were clean staff was nice and very attentive. They allow customers to have fast check out. The breakfast was average but edible. Maid service was ok no complaints. The property was safe no fear to come at night

"Hidden Gem"
danielbM4968PS, 06 Juillet 2017

One of the nicest places to stay in the Poughkeepsie area. Excellent value for your dollar! Would definitely go back and recommend it to others. Staff are asked to do a lot;but are more than up to the task. No complaints.

"Beautiful setting and comfortable"
jenniferrX6364AB, 05 Juillet 2017

This hotel seems a bit older, but is updated. It sits on the banks of a Hudson River tributary. We had a room overlooking the stream and it was lovely. The room was comfortable and spacious. There was hot and continental breakfast included, fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, cereals, fruit, juices, coffee with a nice seating area. There was a complimentary happy hour in the evening but we did not participate as we were out during that time but we would have. Overall nice stay - quiet, scenic and friendly staff.

"Great Staff!"
Heather L, 05 Juillet 2017

Stayed at The Best Western on July 3rd for 1 night. Hotel is in a secluded location on a very nice property. When we arrived we were checked in by Toni. I really can't say enough for her, she was wonderful. Room was spacious and clean. Good breakfast with a nice water view. Would definitely stay here again! I am a rewards member with BW, but I don't normally leave reviews. Felt inclined to based on how well we were treated by the staff!

"A place you can count on"
gregk17, 04 Juillet 2017

Though this property is a little dated, it really didn't make a difference because it was clean, the staff were super delivering their greetings and being helpful, and the perks of the stay surpassed other area chains. I liked the shower controls (particularly pressure, direction, and spray options), as well as the layout of the commode and separate sink area. Additionally, there was a mini-refrigerator and microwave. Also, we could open the windows for some cool, fresh air in the evening. The property would be grand if a little more attention were applied to the exterior upkeep (some paint, window washing, etc.) but that seems minor, all things considered. Overall, we enjoyed the trees and adjacent river viewing for a touch of nature.

"Clean Facility"
guya261, 26 Juin 2017

Very clean rooms, comfortable beds. The bathroom was very clean. The property is very nice, nestled in the wood but also convenient to everything. Breakfast was okay. Rooms are a bit small if you need to have a rollaway bed.

"Good location"
Eileen K, 24 Juin 2017

Good location for us. Nice hotel with good view, nicely landscaped with plenty of parking. Appreciated elevator and automatic opening door having luggage and hands full. Good breakfast. Big room and nice divided bathroom. Relaxing and quiet. I would stay here again.

"Not Great"
wendyhP3097JG, 23 Juin 2017

Outside of hotel is beautiful, which is very misleading when you walk inside. outdated, musty smelly, filthy widows & air conditioner does not work in halls or rooms. I'm not likely to stay in this hotel again unless every other option is sold out. They did not offer or honor the $10 promo they offered on the rewards website

"Nice view of the river"
Felicia R, 22 Juin 2017

Hotel was clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff was okay. Breakfast was just okay. The setting was beautiful. The river is on the backside of the property. Plenty of ducks! This place is great if you like the country look. Nestled in the woods away from the main roadways.

"Nice attractive Hotel in Wappinger Falls"
Sailor32948, 21 Juin 2017

Recently I had the opportunity to stay at the Best Western in Poughkeepsie NY, Inn at The Falls. Although I had appointments about 20 miles away this was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel is right along a river, the Wappinger Falls. The rooms overlook the river. There also nice places to walk. The lobby is pleasant and the reception person was very nice. The rooms were nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable. This is an older hotel with nice woodwork and very well maintained. AS in all Best Western hotels, there is breakfast in the morning. For dinner, there are several nice small places locally that are exceptional. One place is Paula's Public House …great place. Next time I am in Fishkill NY, Will stay at this Best Western. The official name is Best Western, Inn & Suites at the Falls.

"Good value in the Hudson Valley"
travelinsue212, 19 Juin 2017

Not fancy, and bedrooms are fairly basic but clean, many with views overlooking a river and lots of greenery. Nice deck in the back. Complimentary beverages at Happy Hour, and basic bar service. Few amenities in the rooms, but iron and ironing board are provided. No turndown. Quiet, conveniently located, better than average hot breakfast buffet included in the very reasonable price. Excellent value, if not boutique!

"Inviting but unfulfilling"
SM5138WC, 18 Juin 2017

I saw the falls by the hotel and felt I had to stay there so I canceled my frequent hotel reservation hoping for a great experience. But my stay was very disappointing: very warm hallways, poorly cleaned hallway carpets, uncomfortable pillows, and rust tasting water from the bathroom sink. Will not return.

"Good Place to Stay in Poughkeepsie"
L1583NSrachelh, 09 Juin 2017

This is a hotel in a lovely location outside the city center. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast and wine/beer in the evening included. We will definitely stay there again. Not my favorite pillows, but otherwise a good place to sleep.

"Service needs improvement "
James H, 07 Juin 2017

The hotel is beautifully designed and set in a scenic location about 15 minutes from downtown Poughkeepsie. The rooms have been updated and are comfortable. Service is not as professional as most BWs, particularly the housekeeping. What kind of staff leaves installation instruction stickers on the toilet? (It's obviously been there a long time.) Or doesn't let maintenance know when dresser drawers keep rolling open? The sink still had hair in it and when I went to shower in the morning, I was unpleasantly surprised to find there were no bath towels. Though the front desk delivered them quickly, no apologies were ever offered. Breakfast was nicely presented with a few hot options. With some improvements in service, could be a great hotel.

"Much better than expected "
andre f, 04 Juin 2017

It's a beautiful nice hotel everything clean from the rooms to the fitness room and lobby, and it looks taken care of and new. The rooms where good size with a great view to the river full of beautiful trees. Much better than expected with great service!

"Its okay. "
Giovanna F, 03 Juin 2017

The view is absolutely incredible. I adored the view and the river that is In front of the hotel. I really didn't like that the pillows of my room had wired spots. Like if they hadn't cleaned them. So I would say just because of that detail I wouldn't recommend it as your first option.

"Short stay"
Steven S, 02 Juin 2017

I was not expecting the quality of motel appearance or room appearance for price I paid. It was stated as 2.5 stars and felt like 4 stars. Everything was clean and new. Helpful service and nice location . I would go back if I was in the area again.

"Pleasant stay "
Rachelle S, 29 Mai 2017

We had a good stay for the 2nd time in this hotel. Close enough to what we needed on route 9 but far enough away that it was peaceful. The room was downstairs and easy to get to. The room was very clean and looked recently updated. Shower was nice and clean and 4 people were able to shower with hot water with no issues. Will stay here again

"Comfortable hotel, but they need to work on upkeep."
27rennie, 29 Mai 2017

The rooms are large and comfortable, but need brighter lights. The staircases needed vacuuming, windows needed washing, bits of the bathroom were showing rust, dust on hangers. Breakfast was just adequate. Eggs and sausage were luke warm and chewy. There is a lovely balcony to sit out on when weather is nice. The balcony overlooks a waterfall. Prices are doubled for graduation weekend for the 2 local colleges. I have paid less during parents' day weekends and been more satisfied with the quality about 3 years ago.

"Graduation visit"
annegF1824ET, 22 Mai 2017

We stayed overnight here for my daughters graduation. Comfortable beds & pillows. Quiet. Clean. Nicely & newly decorated. Good location. Excellent service. Breakfast was just ok. I'm gluten free so my options were limited. Would stay again

"Good place to stay"
Pat T, 17 Mai 2017

A friend and I came up for the weekend to celebrate our birthdays period we dined at the CIA which was delicious - you should definitely go. We stayed at this Best Western with a nice view out the back window of the stream / river and a super comfy bed! It was close to the historic sites that we wanted to see. Room was clean, well equipped, staff was friendly, breakfast was adequate but the room is a little choppy so it was kind of a challenge finding everything but it also alleviates logjam. Would stay again.

"Liked everything about it"
Cassady, 17 Mai 2017

This hotel has a beautiful location, right on the river. Our room was large and had a separate sitting area for reading or watching tv. It was extremely clean and looked out on the water. We were offered two drinks each at happy hour and breakfast the next day was more than adequate. I would certainly stay here again.

"Very dog friendly staff"
Kathie A, 12 Mai 2017

Thank you to Carol, the manager, and her staff for being so nice to Jessie during our 2 night stay. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely return if we're in the area again. Wish there were streets with sidewalks nearby for longer dog walks but that is not the hotel's fault. One issue: the hot water in the room was TOO hot. Almost scalded myself a couple of times when washing my hands. A warning to those traveling with children. Other than that, no complaints. Thank you again.

"Best is right"
RRJ_CA, 08 Mai 2017

I spent 2 nights here and will return every time I'm in Poughkeepsie. Loved the river and falls, everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast or happy hour but appreciated the hospitality. Lovely stay. Thank you.

"Okay place"
VeteranMike, 06 Mai 2017

Location is away from all the hustle & bustle of the area but has easy access to major roads and attractions. The second floor hall was under construction and a bit difficult to navigate at times. The painters were nice and helped us through the construction zone. The room was a little worn but clean and fairly comfortable. The bed was great. Breakfast was okay but could have been better. Staff was very friendly & helpful

"Beautiful"
anniet400, 05 Mai 2017

Were so happy. The site, the free drinks and the view from our room was awesome. We'll come back for Shure. Coming from montreal, we were please to meet And plus, the sun was there. Thank you for everything

"So nice to be away from Highway 9"
princetonarea, 01 Mai 2017

Like the location of this place -- perhaps a bit out of the way, but quiet, with a patio off the common area and a view of the falls. Not a cookie-cutter Best Western. (Plus we happened to get a great deal on the room rate, so great value for us.) Others have mentioned happy hour -- nice touch.

"Beautiful Area for a Hotel"
TravelinGal1231, 01 Mai 2017

I stayed 2 nights back in March & being from Pennsylvania appreciate the change of seasons however we had a Major Snow Storm a few days prior to my travel plans so I had to adjust to having my Continental breakfast inside at the Dining Area instead of outside on the patio by a beautiful stream (I bet the foliage is gorgeous in the Fall). The inside of the hotel is very open & spacious, there's a Manager's Reception every night from 5-7pm (or around that time) offering 2 FREE drinks per person (beer or wine). There is a gym upstairs for those that want to continue their routine while away from home. The room price was affordable, clean & had comfortable beds. The staff was helpful & friendly. My only complaint was with the ice melting over the awning out front it was constantly dripping onto the sidewalk & when it re-froze again during the night it was a little treacherous walking on it. The use of salt was apparent but I was hoping during the daytime hours (while it was melting) it would've been shoveled out of harms way. I would definitely return to this hotel.

"Adequate place to spend the night"
M D, 30 Avril 2017

Maybe it was the rainy weather that added to the rundown air of this hotel. It seemed a little down at the heels and a little damp. We were comfortable and left promptly in the morning. We were given a free Budweiser when we arrived and the included breakfast was nice.

"Great Hotel, Free Drinks"
Joanne N, 24 Avril 2017

Upon arrival, they give you 2 beers or 2 glasses of wine free for each night (between 5:30-7:30). The breakfast was great!!! The beds were comfortable and there was no charge for a cot. The only complaint was there wasn't a pool.

"Awesome Hotel!"
annilandgirl, 24 Avril 2017

This is our go to hotel whenever we are in the Poughkeepsie area. It is a very nice property with a wonderful staff. They offer a free happy hour in the evening, two drinks per person and limited selection of complimentary beer or wine, but hey ... it's free and a nice way to unwind after traveling or at the end of the day. Breakfast in the lobby is your average hotel fare, but well presented and convenient. The staff is always friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and very spacious. Beds are comfortable! The location right next to a little waterfall is super pretty, and it's convenient to restaurants, shopping, and the train station. Have stayed here multiple times and will certainly return again.

"Not to bad"
Jeff D, 22 Avril 2017

Stayed for business. Nice place, staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is a bit unique getting into because of the way it sits, but has two entrances making it a bit easier. Smaller hotel located on the back of a creek with a relaxing outside seating area. Room was comfortable clean and well maintained.

"Won't come back"
Bob O, 22 Avril 2017

This place is past its prime. Well worn around the edges. Bar/lounge is dismal. Hockey puck fried eggs, tepid coffee. Asked for express check-out/receipt under the door that never happened. This was called a "plus" Best Western. Nothing "plus" about it. Staff was friendly though.

"Rustic Charm"
sm7772017, 17 Avril 2017

Clean and centrally located. The room was spacious. They offered a nice variety of breakfast items; and, maid staff superb. Overall, convenient, clean with character along the river. Highly recommend.

"Suprise in Poughkeepsie"
Paul R, 14 Avril 2017

This is a very nice hotel with a good location, especially if you need to be near Vassar College. It was pleasant to watch the ducks on the stream outside our window. The bed was comfortable and the suite very roomy. The afternoon happy hour added to the overall experience.

"Nice getaway"
Missy O, 12 Avril 2017

Stayed here for a get away night. The front desk staff was awesome! Very nice & welcoming. The room was nice, average, a little dusty. We requested a water (creek) view room, but didn't open the window, very dusty. Only complaint was we could totally hear next room (convesation/other). The continental breakfast was wonderful...lots of options. We were told at check-in that if we wanted drinks at the bar, they were cheap...but no bartender on duty..only whoever manned front desk ran back for drink order. Not a luxury hotel, but ok for quick overnight stay

"Quick stop over while touring Vassar "
traveler53719, 10 Avril 2017

The entrances of this hotel are charming. I think you must be able to use stairs to get in. The room has a nice appearance, you can tell it was recently updated. The tub room was old but sink area was attractive. Over all I would recommend this hotel. I do have one nitpicky issue. The room needed a through dusting. The room looked absolutely clean but when I sat down on a chair I could see a layer of dust on the microwave and refrigerator, these are tucked under a cabinet and not easy to reach - I won't have noticed if I hadn't been sitting at the right level. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

"Vassar campus visit"
267ginag, 30 Mars 2017

My child and I were in the area to visit a nearby college. I liked the photos I saw of the inn on a hotel booking site. We were not disappointed at check-in; our room overlooked the stream which runs the length of the inn. Parking was easy and free. My child especially liked the breakfast buffet which included fresh hot items, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, waffle making station and a selection of juices. Should my child wind up attending the college we visited I foresee staying at the inn many times.

"Nice, basic, clean hotel"
colby1001, 16 Mars 2017

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting our son at the Culinary Institute. It was great for our needs, firm comfortable beds, clean room and a nice set up. We really liked the location even though it was a bit further because it was in a quiet, pretty location, rather than busy Route 9. My only complaint and it's a personal pet peeve is that they use rubber bath mats for the shower, it this day and age I would think the tubs would have some kind of non slip spray in the tub so icky, old bath mats weren't needed. Other than that we enjoyed our stay, breakfast was nice, hot coffee, bagels, waffles, cereal and yogurts, more than enough for our needs. I would recommend his hotel and plan on staying there again the next time we visit our son.

"Average--but great service"
David S, 13 Mars 2017

Room had a broken door jamb and dresser. Quite an inconvenience but we were given another room. Woman at the desk named Octavia was very accommodating and did her best to get us to another room. Breakfast is so so and the bananas were brown and old.

"Inn at the Falls Best Western"
Jennifer S, 28 Novembre 2016

The consistent level of excellent service is always appreciated at this hotel. The place is clean, the breakfast offers many choices, the location is perfect. The fitness room is small but efficient. The eliptical machine needs service. The hotel staff is very polite and helpful. I stay here about 3 times a year and I am never disappointed.

"Good, Clean Hotel"
Robert S, 28 Novembre 2016

Stayed for a few days on the way home from Thanksgiving, wanted to hike on the Walkway over the Hudson. The Best Western Plus is a well kept hotel - clean, good breakfast, and a friendly staff. Would recommend and will consider if I am in need of a hotel in this area again.

"Tranquil retreat"
Michael F, 21 Novembre 2016

This Best Western is in a bucolic setting with great value and lovely staff. One feels as if you are in another world for the night, and then you can wake up to a charming country walk and satisfying breakfast.

"Awesome little hotel!"
V8266IRlindas, 21 Novembre 2016

We came here for my son's wedding. Our room was part of a room block and the hotel was chosen by the mother of the bride. I must say this is one of the nicest little hotels I have every been to. It is wonderfully clean and quiet, beautiful area with a pretty view of the creek outside our window. Beds comfy. Nice, attentive staff. Breakfast average continental, nothing special, but acceptable. But at night the hotel operates a happy hour in the breakfast area, and then a bar where we socialized with friends and family until well past midnight. Will definitely stay again when we visit the area!

"Glad to come back"
drmjd, 19 Novembre 2016

We've stayed here before, and I was glad to come back. It has the feel and scale of a small hotel, with a nice great room connected to the lobby, where you can watch tv, sit on the couch, work at the breakfast tables, or use the business center computer. There's a fire place and a small bar, and the room overlooks the creek next to the hotel. The guest rooms are pleasant, well-designed and well-decorated. The exterior setting is beautiful. I really feel at home here.

"Nice hotel in an attractive setting"
Kenneth N, 19 Novembre 2016

This hotel is in a very attractive spot with a small stream running past the hotel. Ducks and geese swim on the river and the dining room overlooks the stream. The rooms are pleasant and the feeling of the hotel is comfortable and inviting. This is definitely the nicest hotel I have stayed at in the Poughkeepsie area.

"Relaxing Getaway"
Nikquenum, 15 Novembre 2016

What a find! This peaceful setting made for a very relaxing weekend. The room was clean and comfortable with a view of the terrace and stream below. Complimentary cocktails were served in the evening, as was a wonderful breakfast the next morning. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and courteous. We only had time for a one night stay, but I hope to make it a full weekend next time.

"Average to poor"
Elizabeth W, 14 Novembre 2016

I didn't want to give this hotel a poor review, because it is what it is. Low average. I knew going in this wasn't the Ritz-Carlton or the Four Seasons, but I needed a place near Vassar College and this had relatively good reviews. The place itself is old and tired. The room seemed "clean enough" though I tried not to look too closely. The sheets on the bed were rough to the touch. The pillows were awful! The shower pressure was just ok. I would not return here because I'm sure there must be better nearby.

"Friendly atmosphere, wonderful staff"
Suzette200, 29 Octobre 2016

This Best Western is extremely popular, and for good reason. The staff is friendly and helpful (Special thanks to the breakfast staff and Octavia!) The accommodations are pleasant, clean and comfortable and they even host a Happy Hour for guests. Highly recommended!! but a car is needed to take full advantage of the location.

"impeccable attention to detail"
suzanne v, 24 Octobre 2016

Rare that you walk into a room and see that the pictures don't do it justice and it is waaaaaay better than it looked online. We stayed in the king suite with jacuzzi. What the pics don't show you is the large double height ceiling living room you walk into. Though there is no view to speak of - we were looking for a little couple daycation after dropping the kids off at camp - and this was just perfect. It was impeccably spotlessly clean - the jacuzzi tub was truly big enough for both of us to fit comfortably and we got a late check out - nuf said. It is privately owned and the owner was visible and clearly around to make sure things were running well and genuinely happy to listen to client feedback.

"Dr. Tim S."
Timothy S, 17 Octobre 2016

King suite very spacious! LR/dinnette w/sleeper couch, bath with whirlpool tub/separate shower, bedroom with huge closet and safe. 2 TVs, easy wifi access, free breakfast/paper, river view room, very quiet, and secluded access and safe parking. Not new but generally clean. Easy access to National Parks and antique shopping around Hyde Park, NY. Lots of dining choices in 15 mile radius. Hudson Valley foliage season at its best!

"Good value for the price"
GloriaAnchio, 13 Octobre 2016

We were going to visit Hyde Park and wanted a reasonably priced place for two nights. This fit the bill perfectly. It was an easy 15 minute drive to Hyde Park, it was close to other Hudson Valley sites, and a ten minute drive to the Culinary Institute of America. It is a standard two-story high Best Western, with a good sized parking area out front. What is unusual is that on the back side there is a creek, which provides a view from the bedrooms, and a lovely view from the dining area. It also means that the bedrooms are quiet. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful (the first night we just wanted to find a modest place to eat close to the hotel). The free breakfast is great. Not only the standard toast, waffles, cereals, but also yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, oatmeal bars, etc. Especially appreciated were bowls of apples, bananas and oranges (few hotels provide that). There was also a free happy hour with wine for guests (but we didn't manage to make that).

"would not recommend"
Janet P, 09 Octobre 2016

old hotel with uncomfortable beds, pillows and poor work out facilities. The hotel is dated and not what I look for when I stay in a hotel. If you want a upper scale hotel this is not the place to stay. We did not realize this when we made the reservations

"Lovely area and hotel"
Carla N, 07 Octobre 2016

Our check in process was easy and comfortable. The room was clean, although some there was some mold on the shower tile. Beds were a little soft, or broken down, as we rolled to the center. The staff was wonderful and helpful, giving us directions to a lovely restaurant. This property offers complimentary wine or beer each evening for each guest. Breakfast was excellent, with offers there that I had not seen at any other Best Western. The breakfast room looked over the lovely creek. I would stay at this property again.

"better than expected"
retiree59_11, 04 Octobre 2016

Booked with the hotel well ahead of time. For around $150 got a great king suite. Sorry we were only staying one night. I tried the jetted, big bathtub, while my husband chose the shower. Included not only breakfast, ( with make-your-own belgian waffles), but a free nice-sized glass of local wine ( or beer) between 5:30 and &7.

"Pretty Basic"
kaygee38, 03 Octobre 2016

This hotel is rather ordinary, perhaps a bit too ordinary for the price. To start with, we seniors (age 79 and 81) were assigned a room in a separate section of the hotel that necessitated our exiting the main building, walking across a driveway, and climbing five exterior steps wrestling with our luggage. No assistance was offered, nor did there seems to be any available. Not a good start. Our room was comfortable, of adequate size, and quite clean. We found the absence of a phone on the desk very annoying-- the only room phone was on the bed table-- and we had constant problems dialing out on it; there was some sort of connection problem. The breakfast room was bright and pleasant, and the breakfast was adequate– precooked omelet, cold cereal, fruit, muffins, etc. for toasting, coffee and juice. This hotel is a fair distance from the center of town. Conveniently located if you are visiting Vassar College, otherwise not so convenient.

"Plus"
Gary O, 02 Octobre 2016

We found this hotel very pleasant. The rooms were nice, clean and very spacious. The breakfast could have been a little better for the price, but it was on par with most free breakfasts you find in motels. We would stay again next time we visit.

"Dirty"
ian_mcloughlin, 28 Septembre 2016

170 dollars for one night - despite asking for a room that didn't have pets we were given a room that stank of wet dog - the bed covers were covered in dog hairs and I don't even want to mention the carpet ! Hotel was full booked so we were stuck in that room. How hard is it to clean a room ? Obviously too hard for these guys - avoid this place (well this room anyway - number 100 if anyone cares)

"Failed to honor reservation"
riverpdx, 25 Septembre 2016

We made a non-refundable reservation through Booking.com, but when we arrived we were told the hotel was fully booked. The front desk clerk found us a room at an inferior property, but in contrast to standard industry policy, the hotel did not offer us any compensation for failing to honor our confirmed reservation. If we had failed to show, we were warned we would be charged the full price for the room, but apparently Best Western doesn't meet its obligations to honor reservations. We complained to Booking.com, but have not received any response.

"Hotel review"
russells742, 24 Septembre 2016

A wonderful little hotel. Small rooms but I guess that comes under the heading of charming. They have a cocktail hour (!) plus the continental breakfast. All rooms come with a view of the falls; unfortunately there was a drought when we stayed and the falls were basically a trickle. Near Vassar.

"A river runs through it... "
cvandoren, 24 Septembre 2016

I was very impressed with this hotel, a real standout for this price range. The front desk service was very impressive, both check in and out, the patio overlooking the river is a real standout, bedding was excellent, and everything was clean for us. Very quiet at night, we opened our windows to hear the river. Nice to have a bar in a hotel in this price range.

"Beautiful location"
Patricia R, 18 Septembre 2016

Location was relaxing and enjoyable. The flowing creek was not as full as 3 years ago, but there hadn't been the rain this year. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. I would have liked more employees on duty during the evening hours to attend to the incoming guests as well as the guests wanting to enjoy a glass of wine.

"Business or Couples... nice place"
lmp823, 15 Septembre 2016

This is a wonderful place. The entire campus is just beautiful. The team of staff go out of their way to be helpful. Their is a drink service in the evening and a breakfast in the morning. The only negative of this location is the rooms are small. They are serviceable, clean and pleasant, just small.

"Back to School"
Mike F, 01 Septembre 2016

I am a very experienced with hotels for both personal and business reasons and I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the hotel, the service and the overall experience. Very highly recommend.

"So Disappointed"
Luwana J, 29 Août 2016

The location Is great however the hotel is very outdated. wallpaper was dirty and stained. The a/c unit had a horrible odor that filled the room. there was hair in the tub and on shower walls. The piece for the drain in the tub was just thrown in the tub and discolored. I didn't bother to complain as I was already informed the hotel was fully booked when I asked to be located at the other side of hotel.

"Poughkeepsie"
Dale R, 29 Août 2016

By far, the Best Western Poughkeepsie offers me the best value of any hotel I stay at when traveling for work or pleasure. It is clean, situated in a quiet area and is my favorite hotel in the Best Western brand that I have stayed at.

"Lovely Retreat"
JavaGirl65, 25 Août 2016

After checking in, I enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine (it was 6 pm). The small bar area is also where breakfast is served, which looks out onto Wappingers creek. I imagine it looks beautiful in the fall. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room was comfortable - bedding, towels and room temperature included. Our favorite part of the stay was the breakfast. Attention to detail was evident in the toppings offered for the make your own waffle as well as a variety of flavored coffees and creams. I would definitely stay there again, should I find myself in the area.

"Perfect for our trip!"
Janis F, 22 Août 2016

Quiet and lovely hotel. Beautiful surroundings. Comfortable room. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff. Enjoyed sitting outside on the porch overlooking the stream and falls. Appreciated free parking. TV wasn't working right when we arrived but the staff corrected it by the next day. Appreciated having the microwave and fridge in the room.

"serene comfort"
MADELINE S, 08 Août 2016

The stay at Best Western Plus was delightfully peaceful, like a b and b in the countryside. The staff is friendly and helpful. The decor, cleanliness and charm of the hotel is wonderful. The breakfast is more than a regular hotel. The view overlooking the creek makes you feel like you are away from everything. We can't wait to come again!

"Do NOT stay here!"
HUSKERTRAVELER, 07 Août 2016

To begin with, I was extremely disappointed that I did not receive the first floor, waterfront room, I had requested. We are platinum rewards members and didn't even receive a goody bag or any perks. I am handicapped and was given the farthest room there was from the lobby. Just what I wanted to do, walk a mile after a tiring day of sightseeing. Upon arrival in our room, my son found a half empty bottle of beer beside the couch. I don't know why anyone would leave half a bottle of expensive, imported beer, or how the maid could have missed it. On the second day of our stay, the maid did not throw away the used milk cups my children had left on the counter. Just revolting! The manager's reception is an ABSOLUTE joke!!! There are no appetizers at all, and they only allow you a 2 drink limit for a reception that lasts 2 hours. What a joke!! We saw people bring their own cheese and crackers. Pitiful!!! Selection of drinks was really pitiful. They had many choices in the bar, but only gave you 2 choices of beer hat didn't even suit most people. By far the stingiest manager's reception I have ever been to!! Most places let you drink and EAT all you want for the full time period. Rewards members at least deserve better treatment. Even though they claimed the hotel was full, there was only a handful of people there either night of our stay. The patio overlooks a creek that is full of dead trees, so not the most scenic. Why couldn't they clean up the debris? There are NO restaurants close by. We asked the desk clerk for restaurant info. and she gave us a bunch of menus ( in a VERY, VERY filthy binder, that I was afraid to touch ), that are REALLY, REALLY far away, at least 30 min., and made no mention of the Chili's, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster that were only 10 min. away, where a person could get a decent meal. Breakfast - Day 1 - Just OK, at least they had water and granola bars. Day 2 - They didn't even start setting up the waffles or bring out the fake egg omelettes until nearly 8:00, then they didn't even have any cheese in them!!! Only juices were cranberry and orange, they didn't even serve any water. Nearly every hotel has apple juice and/or grape or pineapple. There also wasn't any fruit or granola bars. We had a suite. The bathroom was huge, but very disfunctional. There was no vanity or anywhere at all to put your things. We had a separate tub and shower, but the shower was very slippery and the TINY non-slip mat they gave you was hardly adequate. It was all I could do to keep from falling. The shower only had a tiny, triangle shelf to put your toiletries on that wasn't even big enough for one person's things, let alone a whole family. ( We are a family that's why we got a suite. ) The whirlpool tub drain leaked like a sieve. The only way to take a bath was to leave the water running the whole time, because it was leaking out faster than you could put it in. What a joke!! So much for relaxing! So on the second night of my stay I had to decide between taking the risk of falling in the shower, or taking a bath in the tub that I will assume hasn't been properly cleaned, and leave the water running. The lighting in the bathroom was totally insufficient for applying make-up. The light over the toilet was brighter than the light over the sink. The sink stuck out so far away from the mirror that it was impossible to see what you were doing. Of course, there was no make-up mirror. The mattress was fairly comfortable, but I didn't care for the pillows at all, way too soft. The suite had beautiful windows, but unfortunately, they were so dirty that you could hardly see out of them, especially in the morning sunlight. The kitchenette didn't have any cabinets to put anything in or come with any dishes. Our ref. had been turned down to zero and wasn't cold at all. It took forever to make a pitcher of tea with the pitiful one cup coffeemaker. After tasting my tea, I decided to pour it all out, because the water at this hotel tasted absolutely revolting!!! This is the first time in 25 years of taking 3 week driving vacations, not to mention my travels all over the world, that I had to pour out my tea because the water tasted so bad. What else can I say?

"A Country Inn"
Phyllis H, 07 Août 2016

A lovely, quiet country inn. No pool, restaurant or fancy amenities but creek side patio for pleasant happy hour or breakfast, both of which are included. Accessible only in main building. Staff very attentive and helpful.

"It is a great hotel"
Jinfeng Y, 06 Août 2016

Great Management, Great Staff, Good environment. Highly recommend! I was treated like a family member. The breakfast is wonderful. I enjoyed every minute I spent there. Next time when I go to this area, I will definitely stay there again.

"Not worth the money "
dmdb4, 02 Août 2016

The pictures make this hotel look like a fairly elegant place. It's not. The water rolling by it is barely a creek. The outside is not all that attractive and the inside is dated and rather dark. The room was nothing spectacular and for the price I paid I wished from the moment I walked in that I had booked a different place. For what's it's worth the breakfast was good.

"Nice hotel with location issues"
JOHN G, 02 Août 2016

This is a nice hotel with comfortable rooms and good staff. Bathroom was a bit awkward, 24 inch door so I had to shuffle in sideways as kept hitting my shoulders otherwise. Nice, high quality sheets. Internet was intermittent, but this may have been due to major storms in the area. The hotel itself is considerably off the main areas of Poughkeepsie. I needed my GPS to find it as it is way off the highway, and literally past the end of the road you take to get there. If it hadn't been for the GPS and the fact that is was daylight I doubt I would have found it. (Sign to hotel is less than 5 feet tall). There is NO place - NO place - nearby to get food of ANY kind. Did see wild turkeys crossing the road (seriously, had to stop for them) and there were geese on the lawn the day I left. So it is pretty, but not necessarily convenient to much of anything. It was NOT a bad hotel, again, just for my purposes (tourism in the area) not well situated.

"Don't bother with this hotel"

"Very enjoyable"
Patricia S, 29 Juillet 2016

Price and ratings were what originally drew me to this location. It turned out the morning breakfast was excellent but even better was the evening happy hour. How great is that!?! I started looking forward to relaxing and enjoying a drink. The bed and amenities were very acceptable. The room was on the smaller side but it was big enough for me so I have no complaints.

"The Best"
Ken W, 28 Juillet 2016

This was the finest Best Western we have ever stayed in. The facility is beautiful as is the setting. The room was large, well equipped and clean. We slept very well an d the breakfast included was very good. Other than check in and checkout we had no involvement with the front desk but those activities were quick and courteous. The rate was high for a Best Western but reflected the location and the quality of the lodging.

"Cute hotel but not clean!"
koul390, 27 Juillet 2016

Lots of windows - all filthy - on the inside! Ran my finger along inside, left marks - cloudy streaks on windows in hallways, rooms and front doors....not sure how they could ignore this, made a terrible first impression. Stains on bedskirts, coffee tray not wiped, corners of bathrooms grudgy, grime around doorknobs and on door edges, A/C not working in second floor lobby and not turned on in room when we first arrived. Overall gave me the willies staying there. Could be remedied if management made sure the place got a good cleaning - and it was maintained thereafter.

"Clean, friendly, excellent location"
NYPeggyO, 26 Juillet 2016

This is a hidden gem. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and the location is great for exploring the Hudson Valley. The breakfast is filling, with lots of choices and the nightly happy hour is a very nice bonus. We loved sitting out along the water just talking.

"Pretty basic - go Priceline"
Scud1952, 26 Juillet 2016

Got 2 rooms here for a Sunday night on Priceline for $90 total each. Not in a major business section of town - that can be good or bad. It was clean, staff was friendly. Advertised gym was practically non-existent - equipment that was there didn't work very well at all. Breakfast bar was probably better than most. They did have a 'bar' serviced by the front desk, which was actually pretty nice for a nightcap (happy hour free beer/wine too), but don't expect any top shelf. Price was right though. We did walk to a nearby restaurant, but there were not sidewalks to get there - not a good situation. Should have driven the quarter mile.

"Leisure Traveler"
Ronald C, 25 Juillet 2016

A very nice, clean and well maintained hotel. Good location and helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again. The accommodations were fine and the complimentary cocktail hour and buffet breakfast were excellent.

"Pleasant stay in Poughkeepsie"
Miguel Q, 25 Juillet 2016

The hotel was well situated though making the initial turn to get to the entryway from the road is abrupt. Once on the driveway in, the unique exterior and tunneled gate were an inviting link into a nice parking area. The checkin process was a very good one. We were greeted immediately and were upgraded from our initial reservation. We are very grateful for that kindness. Please do not hear these next items as complaints, I don't mean to be harsh. I'm sure that the reason you ask for survey answers in the first place is to get overall impressions and continually improve the guest experience. The room was great (suite 117) with a beautiful view of the creek. Decor very modern and angular with clean lines - no carvings, stencils or other flourish. The carpet featured an unusual pattern of raised textured curves and lines but not "busy". Palette was earth tones and browns - could have used some more color. Air quality overall was good (given that we arrived on a very hot day) The AC was perfect and on point. We loved having the sink, microwave and mini fridge as well as the ability to move from room to room. Spacious closet. Televisions a bit on the small side (a subjective point, I know, since many home TV's are 45" and up - besides we spent most of our time outside during this visit [our first] to Poughkeepsie). Bath was good but please supply larger mats or more bath mats as the tiles in the shower were abnormally and extremely hazardous when wet. Drainage in the shower chamber can be improved as well. Can't speak about the Jacuzzi - our stay was too short to make use of it. Temperature control in the bathroom could be improved as one exits the shower and is met with equivalent of cold drafts. The mirrors over the sink were inset slightly back and not well suited to see clearly when shaving though I liked the concept of the side mirrors for alternate profile views. Not too much counter space to spread one's toiletries. My wife loved the hair dryer though. The backdoor/exit near our room was convenient as a means to reach the parking lot, but the door was initially unresponsive to key entry the first night. Apparently this was resolved the next day (which is why I didn't report it to the desk). Guests' small pets (or else some other creature) left their matter on sidewalks near back entrance and parking lot. This should definitely be addressed. Breakfast was ok but not exceptional - cereal, folded eggs and sausage patties. Coffee was tepid in the thermos and not exciting. Do it yourself waffles were a neat novelty. The fruit selection minimal. Overall, I felt like a bee buzzing from flower to flower trying to gather breakfast components from stations all around the room instead of flowing from a beginning to end in a more orderly fashion. Staff was not rude or anything but gave no salutation or well wishes on the way in or out of the breakfast area. The delightful countenance of the woman who confirmed our checkout made up for that though. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and this is the place we'd come back to upon a return to the city. Thanks again for a pleasant experience

"Not your typical hotel location"
AllesonWonderland, 25 Juillet 2016

We stayed at the Best Western at the Falls for a few nights while visiting Vassar. Having read reviews before our trip, I knew this wasn't going to be a luxury accommodation. Yes, it's an older hotel. Yes, the room smelled a little musty. But a trip to Target and a can of air freshener made my teen happy. I really enjoyed breakfast out on the patio each morning. I used the computer in the business center to plan the next stages of our trip. I did get a great rate from a third party site, so had I paid rack rates I probably would've expected more. But, we just needed a place to lay our head at night and this fit the bill just fine.

"Overpriced for what it is"
Elise237, 25 Juillet 2016

Visiting family in Poughkeepsie, this is a nice location away from Route 9 strip malls. I have driven past many times and always wanted to try a stay so we finally did. Staff was friendly and complimentary drink on arrival was appreciated. This hotel seems to have a mildew problem that stems from not running the a/c enough. The lobby was very warm with solarium effect. Our room a/c was set too high and not running until we cranked it, and there was a smelly fridge that wasn't running til we turned it on either. We were very turned off by mildew in the shower. Honestly, the shower/tub looks like no one cleans it much. This would not be difficult, it needs to be sprayed and wiped down on a regular basis. The room smelled strongly of fragrance, which on top of the damp feel was not pleasant. The hotel overall looks a little worn, might be time for new carpets. Overall it was nice, but not great, and I wouldn't stay again because of the mildew. I recommend to management that you scrub the showers, keep fridges clean and on, and most importantly run your a/c at a cooler temp throughout to keep mildew under control.

"Overall excellent, except for fuzzy TV channels"
JimmyLaw77, 21 Juillet 2016

The location is fantastic. Convenient to everything, but in a natural creek setting that makes it seem private. The breakfast was outstanding, tons of good choices. The Front Desk staff were excellent. We saw herons and geese every day on the creek. The only negative was that the TV channels in all the rooms are analog, not digital (HD), so all the channels are fuzzy and out of focus. For $140 per night, you'd think they would have good television.

"Great location, but fuzzy TV channels"
JimmyLaw77, 21 Juillet 2016

All the rooms had analog TV signals, no HD. The Hotel is located in a very convenient place close to lots of things around Poughkeepsie. The breakfast was outstanding. The staff was excellent. The lounge was very nice, and a balcony with a view of the creek was special. We saw herons and geese every day.

"Wonderfully hidden Haven"
Donald K, 21 Juillet 2016

My wife and I were extremely happy with this hotel. The setting is outstanding, we knew it when we waited for the geese to cross in front of us in the driveway. Our room over looked the creek and was very nice and also quiet. Don't miss staying here if coming to Poughkeepsie or anywhere close.

"Passable for One Night"
the4ferds, 20 Juillet 2016

This hotel was not what I expected from some of the reviews I read. I found it run down and shabby, not updated and posh. The pillows were lumpy, filled with torn foam--strangest thing I have ever seen in a hotel. The fragrance sprayed in the room was overwhelming. Nicest part of our stay was the breakfast room which is sunny and bright and offers a wide variety of food.

"Quiet and Restful place to Stay"
Jill M, 19 Juillet 2016

My sister and I wanted a quiet restful place to stay in Poughkeepsie while we toured the local sites. We stayed 3 nights and we not disappointed. The local neighborhood feel of the hotel made it a nice place to relax and crash after touring all day. The staff was very welcoming and there were several very good dining places nearby. We would stay again.

"Comfortable, Serene Setting"
Michelle29790, 17 Juillet 2016

Although this is an older hotel, it is updated, tastefully decorated and located in a beautiful setting. We traveled with another couple and stayed two nights while visiting the Roosevelt sites, Vanderbilt Mansion and the bridge walkway over the Hudson. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. We were happy to enjoy the complimentary glass of wine (or beer) that was offered during their "happy hour" each evening. The breakfast room was beautiful and had extra seating on a small patio. The breakfast included a very good variety, including cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon or sausage, pastries, bread, bagels, fresh fruit and granola bars, waffles, coffee, tea, etc.. Items were replenished frequently and there was always plenty to eat. We will definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.

"Posh in Poughkeepsie"
PeterSooty, 15 Juillet 2016

Great holiday hotel centre for a lovely area with good restaurants. Lovely walk across bridge over Hudson and excellent fish restaurant on Quayside. Must visit F D Roosevelt old home and museum nearby- greater understanding of UK/USA relationship

"july 2016"
stan0955, 14 Juillet 2016

Family of 4 staying at the hotel. Breakfast was okay (scrambled eggs were hard). Second night of stay, I returned to the hotel around 2 am and found 4 muscular guys at the front entrance. 3 guys were watching his friend doing the pull up right in front of the entrance door (outside). I had to wait till he finished doing his pull up to get inside. Did not want to say anything as I smelled alcohol. I was concerned about my safety but finally i was able to get in. The front desk was empty and there was no one working inside. We checked out the next morning and I asked to speak with the manager. Instead of coming out to meet the guest, the manager asked me to walk to her office. Will not return to that hotel again.

"Adequate stay"
ladyluck523, 13 Juillet 2016

The hotel was in a quiet residential neighborhood but convenient enough to the expressway. Everything was just good enough but there was nothing special. My biggest annoyance with the hotel was the size of our room (room 110). It was very cramped and had hardly any storage space. The space between the bed and the AC was very narrow and I had trouble squeezing by to get in bed. But it was clean and had a comfortable bed.

"Quiet, clean older property"
rener60, 09 Juillet 2016

Nice property. Very quiet location Rooms was well maintained but seemed a bit dated. Only complaint was the pillow - all the pillows were very lumpy Good coffee, okay breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

"Comfortable Stay"
Susan S, 05 Juillet 2016

Elevator wasn't working at check in and we had a 2nd floor room which so not a good 1st impression. This was repaired by next day, and considering it was a holiday weekend, thought that was very good. Overall the stay was good, the room was clean and beds were comfy. Water pressure in the shower was average. Included breakfast was the best I've experienced and the happy hour cocktail was a nice treat. Patio overlooking creek was a nice place for a relaxing break. Location for Hudson River attractions was very good. LOVED Maya Café in Fishkill off Rt 9!

"A Nice, Clean, Roomy Hotel"
Tamba5, 26 Juin 2016

Our visit started with a happy greeting from the check-in staff. Our room was nice, clean and very roomy. Although we have not had enough rain to make the falls as full as we would have liked it was still a nice view from the lobby balcony. We even watched a big turtle swim by. We indulged in the complimentary happy hour with two free bottles of beer. The continental breakfast was your average continental breakfast with some extras. We would definitely come back.

"Fresh Air and Trustworthy Staff"
Julie M, 26 Juin 2016

I stayed at the Inn at the Falls the night before taking a Saturday cooking class at the Culinary Institute of America. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes from CIA, situated adjacent to a small waterfall on Wappinger Creek. I was able to open the windows and let the fresh air fill the room. The staff was attentive, the room was clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. After a restful night (and a spectacular cooking class), I rejoined others at the hotel to change before returning home. In class, we were asked to remove our rings and I had forgotten they were in my pants pocket. I realized they were missing upon arriving home 2 hours later and immediately called the hotel. They dropped everything to retrace my steps, found the rings and arranged to have them shipped to me. Staying at a hotel with a trustworthy staff is very important to me. The Inn at the Falls is now our #1 choice for accommodations in and around Poughkeepsie.

"Country Liviing Fair at Rhineback"
jeannepalmenteri, 22 Juin 2016

We put my retired friend in charge of finding a hotel the weekend of the country living Fair. This.... was not an easy task considering that he was looking for a hotel 3 months before the fair. This hotel was about 40 minutes from the dutchess county fairgrounds. You are driving through various types of neighborhoods to get there. It's basically side street driving.Once we arrived, the hotel was clean and well run. A little dated but well kept. After a long day of strolling through the fair, the complementary wine and beer at 5:30 was a welcome site. They have a lovely deck that overlooks the falls that is very relaxing. There was a two drink maximum. The next morning , the complementary breakfast was yummy. The breakfast sandwiches, omlets and bacon and sausage were in chafing dishes . They offered bagels, pastries , juices , tea and coffee. They could have used more seating , but I guess we went at a busy time . All in all I would recommend the Best Western at the Falls. It is centrally located in the Hudson Valley with easy access to SUNY New Paltz, Marist College and the CIA. For a weekend stay it was great.

"Grossed out!"
Marissa K, 20 Juin 2016

My husband and I were greeted by a very sweet girl at the front desk. Unfortunately that's the only positive about this trip. This hotel had a musty smell. When we opened the door to our room we had to blast the air and open the windows because there was a strong mold odor. I took a shower that night and when I turned around there was black hair (not belonging to my blonde self) in the corner of the tub. There wasn't enough parking for our car when we checked in at 11 pm, so we made our own spot and prayed no one would hit our car. Needless to say, we will never stay there again.

"Off the beaten path"
Charles F, 20 Juin 2016

The Best Western in Poughkeepsie is a gem. It is beside Wappinger's creek and has a lovely view where you can enjoy breakfast or just relax and watch the geese and other wildlife on the creek. It is quiet and charming. The rooms are spacious and have every amenity you could want. Hot breakfast and free wine or beer daily. Great service and friendly staff.

"Good place to stay"
Z8266FCharles, 20 Juin 2016

Close to nearby attractions such as FDR home, Vanderbilt Museum, the Walkway Bridge.. Excellent breakfast. Clean room and courteous staff. Nice setting with the creek behind the hotel. Had all amenities needed in the room - microwave, refrigerator, etc.

"Best Western stay"
Charlene Z, 17 Juin 2016

We were greeted by a smiling happy young lady who explained the amenities. The hotel & the property were nice. The free breakfast was more than we expected & the cocktail hour was a nice extra. It was off the beaten path but close to all the attractions we want to visit.

"Good location and service. Physical plant needs work."
Harvey H, 12 Juin 2016

Convenient to Vassar. Excellent service. Sited on a lovely stream. A patio where you can enjoy a breakfast that's included or an evening drink. But, room key did not work consistently and our first floor room was dark. We should have requested a room on the second floor. The gym needed attention: an inventory of fresh towels and better maintained or new equipment.

"Nice one night stay"
aluckart, 03 Juin 2016

Stayed here one night before heading for West Point and Boston. The room was large, the beds were comfortable, the wifi was strong but the cell service was iffy for me. We had no issue with the hotel layout and the rooms were furnished nicely. Hard to manuver luggage trolleyto the lobby from the parking lot. The breakfast of cheese omelets and sausage patties was average.

"room with a view"
PhoenixJohn, 02 Juin 2016

The Best Western Plus the Inn and Suites at the Falls in Poughkeepsie is one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed in for an on-the-road overnight. I wasn't looking for a great spa, a great restaurant, a majestic resort--just a clean, reasonable place to spend one evening. That's what a got--and with a view! Our window picture-framed a beautiful creek, replete with ducks. High recommended.

"Clean, recently remodeled"
Cruizntown, 31 Mai 2016

This is an above average Best Western. Recently remodeled. Bed and bathroom are spotless. The only complaint I have is that the hallways are long and dark and could be better lighted. Free, full breakfast bar.

"Biking Vacation in the Hudson River Valley"
azules25, 31 Mai 2016

The Best Western Plus in Poughkeepsie was a wonderful place to stay when biking in this area. The hotel is situated on a river with a waterfall.....an outside deck overlooks the river. Free wine and beer are served in the early evening which gives everyone the occasion to socialize and chat with the other guests. The staff is very eager to help. One young woman googled all the biking information available in the area, presenting us with maps and guides. The rooms are spacious and clean. It was a great hotel stay.

"A good option for Vassar visiyirs"
mr_dendrocacalia, 29 Mai 2016

Clean, basic rooms in a quiet, appealing setting just up the road from Vassar. Although I didn't have a river-view, the setting was otherwise nice, and I'll definitely choose this over the route 9 options in the future. My room was equipped with a fridge and microwave.

"When you just need your head in a bed"
CinjaCST, 28 Mai 2016

We stayed here when we came up for my son's grad from CIA. Clean and quiet room, weak WiFi but a good breakfast buffet and a small bar that does an afternoon happy hour with complimentary wine. Nice wooded setting, friendly staff. 10 min drive to main part of Poughkeepsie so close to restaurants and shopping.

"Well worth the pirce"
Allinclusivefan0330, 26 Mai 2016

We stayed here for one night because we were attending a funeral in the area. You can't beat this hotel for the price. Complimentary beer & wine in the evening, breakfast in the morning, the room was large, clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were surprised and pleased with the accommodations and the other group we were staying with felt the same way. I would definitely stay here again!

"No Problems, No Issues"
Kurt12123, 18 Mai 2016

Needed a one nighter due to a family event. This place seemed to fit the bill as far as location was concerned. Booked a 1 - king bed room, received a handicapped accessible room, which was OK. Room clean, everything worked, no issues. One observation - for a handicapped room, I thought the height of the bed was very high - estimate about 36 inches. Perhaps that's standard.

"Much more than expected "
Laweslady, 18 Mai 2016

Our short stay here was a very nice experience ... Not your typically cookie cutter prefab hotel. The staff was very friendly , the complimentary beer or wine was most pleasant on the patio over looking the river in the evening. A special thanks to Sandra who discovered my son's wallet that was left behind .. The hotel contacted me immediately and made arrangements to return it to him fully intact promptly. I commend the entire staff for their honesty and professionalism

"Great Getaway"
B1038EBgeorgeb, 16 Mai 2016

My wife and I loved this hotel on a small river. We stayed for two nights in May 2016 when the river was flowing fast and Spring was in in early full bloom. The hotel has a lounge with inside and outside seating overlooking the river. Breakfast was included (OK food) and an evening wine or beer was complimentary. The area has lots to do. We enjoyed the FDR museum and Presidential Library, took a walk over the Hudson River and ate at the Katerina DE Medici restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America (very nice but pricy).

"Who knew??"
BKS4242, 04 Mai 2016

This was our first stay here in Poughkeepsie. Wish we would have found it 4 years ago when the eldest started school. Quiet location that looks off the beaten path but is not. It was only 5 minutes to the college and a whole host of restaurants but far away from the madness of rt 9. Rooms were quiet, decent sized. The sink was not in with the shower/toilet. LOVE that. Nothing more irritating than traveling with teenagers and sharing bathroom. Its the little things like being able to brush your teeth while someone is showering. Appreciated the microwave and fridge - kept those Stewart Sodas nice and cold. The daily complimentary happy hour was very welcomed after our drive up. Breakfast was not bad either - the kids loved the peanut butter/chocolate chips on the chocolate waffle. Would have been great to sit outside by the creek, but it was chilly so we had to settle for looking out the huge windows.

"kids spring break week"
D C, 02 Mai 2016

Stayed at this hotel week of April 26-29. Had to get two rooms for 6 people, two queen beds per room. The rooms were clean and spacious. The kids enjoyed their stay, their only disappointment was no pool.

"Nice place above the falls, with wine"
Myra R, 28 Avril 2016

We got the last room, facing parking and the street, and it was fine. Up and down a few outside steps to the lobby, which might be an issue in rain or snow, Spacious room, if a bit dark and a distinct room freshener smell. Clean and tidy, though. It's always nice to have a fridge and coffee maker. If you've stayed at midrange motels before, you know what to expect. The reason to stay here is to sit on the small patio a with complimentary wine and pretzels after a day of touring. (Not far from Storm King and Dia Beacon) You'll then be relaxed enough to drive into town, relying on GPS, for dinner. Nothing in the immediate area. Be sure to walk around to see the small falls from the road, can't see them from the hotel. Apparently, they used to be higher before a storm knocked trees into the rocks. Staff was very pleasant. A standard hotel buffet breakfast, though they generously supplied granola bars.

"no thanks"
Ally H, 27 Avril 2016

The hotel was very sketchy from the moment we pulled up. I'm not familiar with the hotel's history but we got very strong spiritual vibes from our room. The structure and layout of the hotel was very odd and confusing as well.

"Needs some bathroom and breakfast upgrades"
MVFAM, 26 Avril 2016

This hotel is quite picturesque on the banks of Wappinger Creek. It's a bit removed from "downtown" Poughkeepsie, so be prepared to drive, rather than walk, to eat or shop. Our room was 318, facing the corner of Red Oak Mills Rd. and New Hackensack Rd. where it crosses the creek, but it was very quiet and we barely heard any traffic noise. Parking was free, the room was clean, free WiFi worked, but bathroom was a bit worn with rust stained tub and tile and old repairs around the spout. We asked the front desk for restaurant recommendations and they gave us a list of all the restaurants in town - not too helpful. Luckily, our tour guide at Vassar told us that graduates of the Culinary Institute of America opened restaurants in the area so we googled a few and ended up eating at Crave on Washington St. - excellent. The breakfast at the hotel the next morning, though, was underwhelming: toast, bagels, fruit, tasteless bacon and crusty scrambled eggs. On the plus side, there were cook-yourself waffles, but one waffle iron had a defective timer. The batter dispenser also didn't measure proportions, so it was a mess at the station with people overfilling the griddle and spilling batter on the counter and discarded half full cups of batter lying around. Waffles themselves were okay - kind of flat. Overall a good, average stay that could have been better with some upgrading in the bathroom and breakfast area.

"STRANGE HOTEL"
jillyrosesmom, 24 Avril 2016

I cannot recommend hotel. Person checking in was not friendly or helpful. Didn't smile. Had to leave hotel to go outside to get to room. Had to go down stairs and up new stairs with heavy bags. Wasn't told you can get into annex through second floor . Hotel and room layout was awkward. Room was spacious and updated but bathroom was small and awkward layout. Bedding was cheap and flimsy and brown paint on trim was dated looking. Room was on street and noisy from street and hall and neighbors. As stated in other reviews the windows at ground level were unlocked. I didn't feel safe or comfortable there and would not return. Breakfast was mediocre. Place was dark and gloomy. Could not wait to leave.

"BEST, BEST WESTERN OF ALL I HAVE BEEN TO!"
Michele P, 24 Avril 2016

This place was like home to me. It was in the country and had a creek out back and this one served complimentary wine and beer and the breakfast was awesome!!! The room was beautiful and the king size bed was so comfy I slept like a baby!!!

"Nice hotel by a pretty river 10 minutes from Vassar"
mamacoast, 23 Avril 2016

The hotel is a comfortable, convenient location for a trip to Vassar or Poughkeepsie. It's located on a pretty river, with comfortable rooms with windows that open so you can hear the sound of the river outside. The hotel offers complimentary drinks in the downstairs bar, which is nice. Room is not super fancy but it's clean, comfy and a good size.

"Pretty location, solid hotel"
jagd3333, 23 Avril 2016

This best western is a great value. Room was well appointed and clean, bed reasonably confortable. Complimentary drinks in the evening and good breakfast for no additional cost. Pretty location and views. We forgot something and they were even willing to mail it to us.

"Beautiful location"
Mary S, 22 Avril 2016

Our room looked out on the river and falls--very beautiful. The hotel was comfortable, front desk staff was fabulous and the internet was good enough to stream tennis matches from Europe. The one negative was the quality of the "free" breakfast. It was almost all carbs, not healthy at all, and very uninspiring. After the first day, we went out for breakfast.

"Good for a one night stay"
K B, 21 Avril 2016

The bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. The hotel can use some upgrading to brighten it up and renovate the bathrooms - but that being said, everything worked and I didn't feel uncomfortable there. It is a quiet and scenic location (in a residential area actually). The continental breakfast included the usual cereals, fruit, muffins, coffee, juices, waffles, toppings. The hot food offerings do need improvement - I suggest someone to make omelettes to order and drop the precooked food. Desk personnel were pleasant.

"Average AT BEST"
Amie H, 20 Avril 2016

The rooms are older and not kept up that well. Breakfast was crappy, it was either wet eggs and dry sausage or frozen breakfast sandwiches, that I could make myself. It was clean. WiFi never worked for me. The walls are crazy thin, I could hear the guy in the room next to me coughing.

"Easter Delight"
MADELINE S, 17 Avril 2016

This is our favorite hotel to stay for the holidays when we come to visit family. The creek is so soothing and picturesque. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. After we returned our key, our car would not start, we called triple AAA. In my nervousness, I gave the operator the wrong cell number. The travel company called the hotel and the hotel manager assisted me in my dilemma. We eventually were able to drive home. If I had to be stranded, I'm happy it was at the Best Western Hotel parking lot.

"One Night...."
brstcncrsrvr, 11 Avril 2016

My husband and I stayed here just one night as it was the half way point for my cousin and I to visit. The location is good and view of the falls we had from our room was nice. The added extra of the free 2 drinks at the happy hour held in the seating area off of the lobby was a bonus. Free standard fare breakfast was also included. That being said, this hotel is in drastic need of a renovation!! Carpets throughout were old and not particularly clean. The rooms are dated, the windows in the room were dirty, as was the corners and baseboard in the bathroom, and also the bathtub looked like it had been painted or something and the paint was cracked and peeling. Also, in the morning as we were downstairs having our breakfast, there was an individual that was allowed to sit there, much to the annoyance of many I might add, and blast gospel music from some sort of speaker clipped to his waist. I have never been subjected to anything remotely close to that at any other hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

"Great for Vassar visits"
Elizabeth C, 04 Avril 2016

I've been staying at the Inn at the Falls for the past 5 years. It's close to Vassar, Marist and the Culinary Institute. Always a comfortable stay. Complimentary drinks in the evening were appreciated.

"Pleasant stay"
RoadTripToSFO, 03 Avril 2016

My girlfriend and I have stayed here twice (once in February, once in March) and we enjoyed both stays. The location is modestly scenic, and if the weather's nice it's pleasant to relax on the deck. There is free Wi-Fi. There is complimentary breakfast -- decent, but with really cheap bacon. You also get the benefit of complimentary drinks from the bar during the evening. All in all, thumbs-up.

"Great place"
EileenMHealy, 31 Mars 2016

We have stayed here twice, both times in s two room jacuzzi suite. This visit included a happy hour with two free drinks per guest. The common area is lovely looking over the creek and the falls. Our room had the same view. The setting is beautiful. Room was great as well. Highly recommend. Any questions just email

"a lovely setting"
Lois M, 22 Mars 2016

as expected a very nice hotel as nice as the one in los angeles from 4 years ago the "plus" offers updated rooms and bedding the lobby was pleasant and inviting the parking was somewhat limited but sufficient for our needs

"Best Western Inn at the Falls"
Kathryn S, 19 Mars 2016

Suites are very nice, hot tub that was clean with clean jets, comfortable bed, The staff was very helpful and friendly. Beautiful stream behind it. Nice breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this hotel.

"Overnighter, decent hotel: good staff"
IrishCannoli, 14 Mars 2016

Stayed here this past Saturday night. The check-in was easy & pleasant with Octavia. She was very nice & helpful. Then the barteder was very nice & accommodating, can't remember her name. Handled our big party well. We had missed the breakfast the next day with the change in time, but the staff (Juliet?) was very helpful with our kids. Overall, a nice hotel in the area. the river was nice (small), but with window opened, the current was good to hear.

"Staying at The Inn - Poughkeepsie, NY"
Ann M, 11 Mars 2016

We ALWAYS stay here (except when it booked) - the location is perfect - it's quiet and the staff is always more than helpful - the Breakfast is amazing - many selections - and the lobby/dining area is immaculate - just like the rooms - the beds provide the best night sleep we've ever had! We've stayed at other area hotels, but The Inn is just the BEST, Best Western!!!

"I like this place"
Joanie881, 08 Mars 2016

The only small quibble is it's 6 miles from town, but I found going New Hackensack Rd was an easier ride to and from. A cute hotel, pleasant service, spacious rooms, happy hour w/ free beer and wine, good sized breakfast, a nice location. Plus they seem to be offered on Priceline Express deals. No complaints.

"Noisy Room"
Lisa631, 06 Mars 2016

The hotel itself and staff were very nice. The bartender at the cocktail hour was super friendly and the breakfast was decent. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room was facing the road and was quite noisy. We heard the kids in the room next to us the whole night. This hotel says it is not pet friendly but it does allow dogs in a few rooms apparently because the dogs across the hall from us were barking like crazy every time they heard a door open or close... very annoying. I asked at the front desk if this was allowed and they said yes. Avoid room 103.

"Great stay...if you're visiting CIA it's really close by"
Dycelie R, 29 Février 2016

Great experience! Great service, comfortable bed and I never sleep well the first night at any hotel, and this one I got a great night of sleep. The breakfast was complete with hot, fresh entries. Coffee...amazing! The view was beautiful as well. If my daughter decides to go to the CIA my husband and I will certainly return to your hotel.

"Great Best Western near Vassar"
mtressel, 22 Février 2016

The Inn at the Falls is a well-run and staffed Best Western in a lovely setting, yet 5 minutes from Vassar College campus. The rooms are well-appointed and very comfortable. As a bonus, it has pet-friendly rooms!

"Beautiful & Quite"
jessica w, 19 Février 2016

My stay was beautiful & fantastic. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and I can say this is the best one I been to. Tops all of the other ones. The structure of the hotel is beautiful in side and out. And I love that the hallways where nice and warm. And the scenery was beautiful. The room was fantastic very roomy had everything you needed, bed was comfortable loved the pillows. Also loved the shower. I wish my hot water would stay that hot. And the tub was so nice to soak in. Its was a incredible 3 day get away. The breakfast was great had a big selections good coffee all day long. The front desk staff Octavia,Judith,Kai, & Tearrance was fantastic at there job very promp, helpful and did everything with a warm welcome smile. The manager Carol is fantastic at her job she was very helpful, friendly and had a warm welcome smile to. I will defiantly be coming back and I hope next time I can stay longer but I had to come back to reality. You defiantly want to stay here if you want a quite get away and good staff.

"Just stopping on the way through..."
Dean H, 19 Février 2016

Very nice, friendly staff. Checked in after a good Mexican dinner at "Margaritas". Bed was very comfortable, our room had a great view of the creek/river. Bathroom was nicely appointed but on the smaller side. Breakfast had nice selection of coffee/tea, and standard continental fare.

"Skip the breakfast area if the outside temperature is below 32 degrees"
Louise P, 15 Février 2016

Reception area and hallways were very cold upon check-in (4 pm) and in the morning (8 am). It got MUCH WORSE as we went to the breakfast area-it was probably 55-58 degrees in this areas. A L L tabletops, granite shelves were FREEZING, FREEZING. Yes, I acknowledge that it was unusually cold outside but the staff should have brought in heaters. They were dressed in fleece tops/ jackets and scarfs. What impression does that give to your guests? After just about 10 minutes, hot coffee that was poured had to be microwaved to heat it up. This morning experience was VERY unpleasant. Another guest in the 200 area noted that there were no pictures on any walls in their guest room. Check in staff was making negative comments about the computer system.

"BEST Western"
Sean D, 08 Février 2016

Good hotel, very accommodating staff, lovely area, I plan to come back. I enjoy using my Best Western rewards. The cocktail hour was very nice to enjoy after a long day. This will be the location I plan to return to, and seeing as my work brings me back here often, I look forward to using this establishment.

"DARLING HOTEL AND GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY"
Jules996, 31 Janvier 2016

The BW Inn & Suites is clean, very nicely decorated, and a very friendly place. The rooms are large and the beds and pillows very comfortable. We had a darling view of a brook or stream below. I would not expect actual "water falls,' but the view is lovely. Everyone at breakfast can have a view of the stream/little river regardless of their room location. Close to everything. Extremely accommodating hotel staff. Great place!

"excellent stay"
Nelson S, 19 Janvier 2016

The hotel is a terrific value, nice large rooms and free breakfast and parking. nice staff as well. A large group of high school hockey players came at the same time so breakfast was crowded and somewhat short of food temporarily but the staff brought out more quickly once notified.

"Decent hotel, a bit out of the way location"
Morgan2010, 18 Janvier 2016

Hotel points out that they are located by a waterfall in river - and it is - but you cannot see it from hotel. The view is walking over to busy road bridge. Room was quite acceptable. Breakfast area is a bit small. Overall an average stay. btw = why cant hotels install shower controls that are easy to figure out? I could not get the water hot enough because the darn knob was messed up. This - shower knob control - seems to be a common error in hotel to me. Why?

"Not impressed"
Christina L, 11 Janvier 2016

Got in real late last night. 1:00AM this morning actually. The man at the desk was pleasant enough for that time of night. He checked us in and gave us room #218. The room was on the 2nd floor, the furthest room possible from the lobby which wasn't a problem but when we got to the room, the room cards wouldn't open the door. We tried each card several times and just kept seeing the red flashing light. I left everything at the door and walked the trek back to the lobby. The attendant was nowhere to be seen. I rang the bell several times and looked around and couldn't find him for at least 5 minutes. He finally came out and I told him the cards didn't work. He said they've been having problems with that room. Why give us that room if there were problems with the door!! At this point I was exhausted. He swiped the cards again and I made the long trek back to the room. The cards didn't work again! So annoying! If it was earlier, it probably wouldn't have bothered me but we needed to sleep since we were getting up at 7:00AM to catch a train. We didn't have much time to sleep as it was. The attendant did come up to make sure the door worked and he saw that it didn't. He did have another room's card keys ready in case room 218's didn't work again. That was considerate, at least. Now room 202 was clear on the other side of where we were so we trudged back wearily and tired where we finally get to the room and the attendant opens it for us. The room was clearly supposedly cleaned (beds were made, new linens). There were a few cereal (Chex) pieces on the floor near the night stand. Other small wrappers here and there. Not terrible but clearly the room wasn't the way I expected a Best Western to be. Let alone a Best Western PLUS! We got ready for bed and managed to sleep a bit. The room was cold and the bed linens were not warm. Seemed like Spring/Summer-like linens were on. Very thin blankets and bedspreads. Seemed like someone knocked on the door early in the morning, maybe to put our hotel receipt under the door? Not a very quiet room. Heard other guests in the early morning. Also, the toilet didn't flush properly. The water wouldn't flush anything away. The "full" breakfast in the morning was mediocre to say the least. We were completely spoiled at the Best Western in Victor, NY. See my review for that one! My son took a bagel and apple to go. Just a very strange set up. Noticed the waffle maker in a little alcove. No one was there to help or replenish. I didn't eat anything. We just left at 8:00am. Won't be staying there again.

"Most different and scenic hotel in Poughkeepsie area"
Steve R, 09 Janvier 2016

Very nice experience at this hotel. I had just a few issues which kept me from rating this excellent. I have a lot of experience staying in Pough. area and this is the place I would go back to. Far different and better than the usual chains on Rt 9. Our issues were not all that significant. We opted for a suite and it was extremely roomy and comfortable.

"Good hotel, great value."
Chris W, 07 Janvier 2016

Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking and the room was clean and in good order. The breakfast selection was ample and included hot breakfast sandwiches, cereal, bagels, toast, and coffee and juices.

"Unique Hotel Felt More Like An Inn"
laurenna130, 02 Janvier 2016

A very unique hotel close to Marist College. The hotel had a feel of an old house or manor. The rooms were large and clean. The common area had a fireplace and a nice outdoor patio. Complimentary breakfast was also served in the common area, with hard boiled eggs, hot pockets, waffles, oatmeal, and fruit. Each guest also gets two complimentary drinks (beer and wine in the early evening. No pool though. Overall, a nice stay.

"Location was prefect for us"
Deborah K, 01 Janvier 2016

Very happy with everything. Beds could have been a little more comfortable which is one of the most important items at any place we stay. The room we received (we did not specify anything particular) would have been exactly what our profile would have requested. Spot on

"Poor Management, Unkept and Dirty"
katherinep375, 29 Décembre 2015

The location and building were great, but the interior is dirty and the manager doesn't seem to care. I booked four nights but checked out after the first. In my room were food crumbs on the bed and floor; drips of something on the doors; the tub was painted and the paint was pealing; the windows overlooking the river were filthy. The carpet in the halls and elevator looked like they had not been cleaned in some time.

"Overnight trip in Poughkeepsie"
Selina10022, 09 Décembre 2015

I was in the area for an event hosted by the wine trail and stayed here with some friends. We had a great time. We were greeted by Kai, who was so sweet and gave us suggestions for dinner. The hotel has a small bar, coffee and tea (that I think they provide all day long) and the room was comfy. They provide free continental, although I didn't wake up in time to experience it. Every staff member we cam in to contact with was kind, even when we realized we needed additional towels, Kai got them for us. All in all I would stay here again. I just caught the view on the way out because it was dark when we checked in but it was nice as well. All in all good value.

"It's worth the drive"
KommissarKen, 28 Novembre 2015

This hotel is located about five minutes outside of Poughkeepsie on some side roads. But it is a welcoming place, with complimentary wine and beer in the late afternoons. The rooms are spacious and the staff is helpful. It's a little noisier than you'd expect since it is out of town, but a nearby road does get some heavy traffic. Because of a dry spell, the falls just outside the hotel were more like a trickle when we stayed, but that's OK. It is a nice place to stay all the same.

"Trip to NY"
Richard B, 17 Novembre 2015

Very satisfied with our stay. We came North for a wedding and decided to stay in the Poughkeepsie are for 2 nights prior to attending the wedding. Everything fell into place quite nicely. All in all a stress free adventure.

"Be careful which room you get - some are very noisy"
maggie p, 16 Novembre 2015

The hotel is a bit dated, but the location next to the river & falls is nice when having breakfast. My big complaint is that the hotel fronts a busy roadway right next to a signal, so traffic is constantly slowly downed and then starting up. My room faced the road and the noise was horrific. I asked the front desk for earplugs, which should be mandatory for those rooms, and they didn't have any. Also it was two weeks since daylight savings ended and my room clock had not be changed. I probably would have given a better review if I'd gotten a different room, but when I complained and asked to be switched, they said the place was full.

"Nice, quiet stay"
Patricia H, 16 Novembre 2015

This is a nice hotel in a quiet, residential area that is close to Vassar College and the Walkway Over the Hudson. Good restaurants close by. We did a girls weekend and found it just right for our needs.

"Excellent Service"
James D, 15 Novembre 2015

The staff really rolls out the red carpet for you. I was very impressed with the level of service from all the staff. Coming in late at nite they were still willing to serve at the lounge. The breakfast was excellent couldn't get a better breakfast at a diner

"Good choice"
Hongyi M, 11 Novembre 2015

Good choice for the money and quality. Hotel is very clean and comfort. Internet speed is fast, breakfast is good for the price you pay. Overall experience is satisfactory. Highly recommended for business and pleasure stay

"Best Western at the Falls"
Regina R, 09 Novembre 2015

Nice hotel for the price. Rooms are a bit small but has everything you need. They have a nice cold breakfast with do it yourself waffle with all the fixings and a happy hour which was a surprise. Nice deck off side looking out to a local creek.

"Friendly Experience"
librarian81, 08 Novembre 2015

We checked in after a full day exploring FDR's home as well as a very tasty meal at the Culinary Institute of America. As soon as we checked in we were told that it was about to be Happy Hour and we were given two coupons each. Perfect, we tossed our bags into our room and went to the bar area. The wine and beers offered were just ok but when my wife asked for a Johnny Walker and was told it was $5 she said yes and got an amazing pour and she was so happy. The bartender was a lovely young lady who was fun to talk to. After our drinks we walked to a restaurant the hotel recommended and we were happy with that too. Our rooms were nice sized and the beds were comfortable. That is what we wanted and were totally happy with our choice of this hotel. In the morning, our breakfast has good. Nothing special about it but then we were prepared by what we read and it was filling. If you are back that way again we would definitely stay here again.

"Great weekend accommodations at this hotel"
sbenjamen, 02 Novembre 2015

Booked three rooms for six adults this past weekend at the Best Wester PLUS. The location was ideal as Storm King, Dia Beacon and the Bridge Walkway were on our itinerary and this hotel was not far away. The rooms with two queen beds are large. The suite even had a jacuzzi tub. And the living room was ideal for meet ups with everyone. The hotel is situated on a creek , which provides a nice setting and view. The lobby also serves as the breakfast room and bar and has a communal tv and fireplace. Octavia at the front desk was accommodating and pleasant and went out of her way to assist us when needed. The free wifi was a great amenity. The tv service on all three rooms was blurry...but as we had lots to do was not necessary. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Not bad and inexpensive"
mrespiritu, 02 Novembre 2015

Stayed here for a night and was quite surprised at the size of our room. It had a living room area and a bedroom with one King size bed. The bathroom also had a hot tub but I didn't get a chance to use it. I will say that the shower is quite large but be careful, it's really slippery. Seriously, hold on to those rails. Oh and while this hotel says it's pet friendly, you cannot leave you pet in your room unattended. They make you sign a form where they can charge you $400 if you don't comply to that. Oh and my TV reception was fuzzy... and that was for both tv's (yes you get 2 tv's)

"Sleeping INN Poughkeepsie"
Daniel F, 01 Novembre 2015

Very satisfied. No complaints. Certainly provided the ammentities necessary for a comfortable stay. Was looking for the Best Western brand, which is limited in choices in the Poughkeepsie and surrounding area.

"Good Hotel , NIce Views, Convenient Location"
sueandmark, 31 Octobre 2015

We stayed at this hotel whole visiting Hyde Park. Our standard room with 2 queen beds was a good size. The rate for the room was very reasonable . We enjoyed the happy hour and the breakfast. There is a pretty balcony outside the breakfast room.

"Interesting hotel nice setting"
homer17402, 31 Octobre 2015

Easy checkin. Comfortable updated room. We were on the highway side and did have road noise. Didn't bother me but my wife was initially unhappy. Comfortable beds. Internet fast enough for Netflix. Breakfast better than expected. Waffles, instant oatmeal, microwaveable breakfast sandwiches and assortment of usual items. Hotel sits along a creek. Good place for the price.

"Nice weekend stay"
Candace S, 30 Octobre 2015

This hotel is situated on a beautiful creek. It is tucked away, but we liked that as we were looking for something quiet. The room was clean, although a little small. We had trouble with placement for suitcases for two adults and two teens. The front office staff did not seem very professional. I had trouble getting someone to pick up when I called in the evenings. Also, the morning of checkout the front desk gal was smoking outside within a couple of feet of the front door, chatting with some friends. I had to walk through the smoke to stand at an empty desk. She handed over her cigarette to a friend and ran in. I thought this was very unprofessional. We did get a great military rate for the room and the continental breakfast was adequate, so I guess I shouldn't complain. In the evening they have complimentary wine in the lounge. I was very surprised by this and we did take advantage. Overall this is a good place to stay, just not pleased with the professionalism of the staff.

"Nice views, nice hotel"
Myrmyr971, 27 Octobre 2015

I traveled to the area on business and try to stay at the Best Western when I can. The staff was great, as were the amenities. The room was clean and comfortable. Very happy with the hotel and will be back.

"So Many Things Wrong, water, sewer smells, black grout..."
octraveler2015, 26 Octobre 2015

This hotel is SERIOUSLY in need of MAJOR renovation. The grout in the shower was black around the faucet, very poorly applied after apparent repairs in the area; rust stains were "dripping" from hold bar in tub (I have photos); heavy coats of paint were chipped on doors and mouldings (who does this anymore? by the time a hotel needs a coat of paint, most are remodeled, you almost never see paint chips anywhere anymore!), The room was dingy, dark, and unwelcoming, to say the least. The bedspread was wrinkled badly as if piled on the floor in a corner for days. The welcome area was dark and old-fashioned. How it got the totally misleading "plus" designation is beyond imagination. MOST WORRISOME was a POSTED WATER CAUTION from the city. As a result, I did not shower, wash my hands, or brush my teeth in fear of contamination. The person at the desk tried to "reassure" us by saying she drank a glass and "nothing happened." There was also a sewer smell in the hall and an even stronger one in the parking lot. We would have left immediately but I knew from previous calls there were no rooms available elsewhere. To be sure, I called two more hotels to no avail. As a result, we slept and left immediately, afraid also to eat anything not prepackaged in the free breakfast. Both employees were seen in full view the evening before alongside the driveway, smoking, (and watching us watching them, as if feeling guilty) when they should have been on duty. It was most certainly the worst night of our trip, and to pay $200 for it is beyond belief, when we stayed at BRAND NEW similar type hotels for less.

"Really Nice"
Sylvain L, 24 Octobre 2015

It was much better than expected, Even if there wasn't a restaurant in the hotel, the breakfast was ok, there was a bar and the bedroom was bigger than expected. The employees were really nice, helpful, happy and friendly.

"Reasonable hotel by the river"
Aussie_traveller, 20 Octobre 2015

Nice property by the river. Rooms were large and had everything you needed. Room seemed a little unclean and found droppings of some kind on the carpet. The outdoor terrace overlooking the river was nice as was watching the bird life. On the outskirts of Poughkeepsie so not really close to anything, more of a rural/country area. Breakfast was alright but nothing outstanding. They did offer complimentary drinks in the afternoon which was pleasant. Was generally very quiet throughout.

"Good Hotel"
Doreen C, 18 Octobre 2015

The hotel is very nice, rooms are comfortable and it is quiet. The breakfast is not great, but adequate of you are in a hurry. If you are not in a hurry, there are options close buy. Staff is very nice.

"Elaine"
Elaine M, 18 Octobre 2015

We really enjoyed the hotel because it was quiet without a pool or children. The cocktail hour was great, too. It was in a quiet residential area . The staff was very helpful. The breakfast selection was very good.

"Spooky inside and out"
Umbear, 17 Octobre 2015

Was recently some other private facility. The parking is not good. The close neighborhood a bit dicey, even though you have Vassar near by. But truly spooky was water supply not acceptable, by health department, and they hide the notice on it. Do not use water in room, if you specifically ask about it they say "Well yes, but you can carry a cup to the 3rd floor gym and fill it up there", really. The check attendant was yawning from early afternoon to late everytime we passed the greeting desk. The carpet in the room needs replacement immediately and we found an airsickness bag from Delta in the room. The bed was a recent replacement so it was ok for sleep. Found dirty extra pillow in closet. Housekeeping needs help.

"visit back home"
Lori K, 17 Octobre 2015

I've stay at a few hotels in the area have found this one the best that I've stayed at. Will stay again. They had breakfast and a manager greet at 5.30pm where they offered beer wine and soda just overall clean and friendly hotel

"Very good Vassar College hotel option"
mtressel, 05 Octobre 2015

The Inn at the Falls offers very comfortable rooms in a quiet setting close to Vassar College. The staff is terrific and the service very good. As a bonus, it is one of the few hotels that accept pets!

"Historic Building Reinvented as a hotel"
ChefHarvey, 04 Octobre 2015

This is a very old building that has been through many iterations since the early 20th century when it was built. It has had additions built on it and has recently become a Best Western Hotel. Due to the lack of rain this year the falls portion has just become a trickle of water behind the building. There is a nice patio in the rear of the breakfast room that also serves beer and wine in the afternoon. The free breakfast is OK and has much more that a continental breakfast. Loads of free parking. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurants are a short drive from the hotel in Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park. A little drive to all the FDR historical sights and the Culinary Institute of America but dooable in twenty minutes.

"Overpriced hotel, underwhelming facility"
mrancer, 03 Octobre 2015

Although the hotel is very attractive from the outside, in a nice wooded setting, it suffers from a number of major drawbacks. First, it is not conveniently located. It isn't near a major highway or the center of the city. It's a bit of a drive from the hotel to other places we wanted to see in the area. Second, although the room was large and comfortable, the walls are very thin and we could hear everything going on in the adjacent room. Third, the bathroom space is quite limited, with no counter area for toiletries. And finally, the breakfast offerings were very limited. The only hot item was do it yourself waffles, and the refrigerator case offered prepackaged Jimmy Dean sausage sandwiches. There also aren't many tables in the breakfast room - on a busier day it would have been hard to find seating. This isn't what I expect for $172 a night, compared to not much more than $100 that we paid for similar hotels in other cities on this trip.

"Clean, welcoming and affordable home base"
Philip316, 02 Octobre 2015

We chose this hotel as a halfway point for a family reunion. The staff were very welcoming and the rooms were clean. The view of the river was beautiful, but there really is no path that is walkable. Some of the photos are deceiving(ie. the lounge/bar is also the breakfast room- so not as big as it appears, the fitness room barely fit our party of 4 but the equipment was quality stuff and it had a view of the water). The staff were really what made the place feel like home and my group enjoyed the complimentary Happy hour while we played a game at one of the tables. I would stay here again if I am in the area. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was acceptable and the common areas were friendly. Just don't expect the luxurious lounge and bar that the photo suggests.

"Wonderful location"
Leonoor D, 02 Octobre 2015

This hotel is located on a lovely spot with view on the river. It looks nice. We arrived and got an upgrade to a suite so that was very nice. The room was big and beautiful. Only in my opinion it was not as clean as it should have been. The staff was friendly, the breakfast room was nice only the breakfast itself was limited. I missed for example fresh juice and natural flavoured yoghurt.
