We found this hotel to be clean, comfortable and well situated to explore Sun Valley. It is located right in the heart of town, so it was easy to walk everywhere. Parking at the hotel is free. The front desk staff were helpful and knowledgable about the area. Gabi gave us spot-on restaurant recommendations (The Kneadery and Serva). Breakfast is not included, but there are good options nearby. In addition to The Kneadery, WrapCity for breakfast burritos was excellent!! Our room was laid out well, with a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable. We also had a small sofa for watching TV. The bathroom was a decent size, with a tub/shower combo. The counter area could have been bigger, but overall it was fine. This hotel was a great value for the quality in the very pricey town of Sun Valley!
This is the best location in Ketchum whatever you are here for. Walk to everything. Close to the mountain, Golf, hiking, biking, whatever. This hotel is nicely designed and well-maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is no traditional mid-level hotel breakfast, but there is a very nice custom coffee machine in the lobby and they provide $5 per person coupons for breakfast to Wrap City which is a high quality local establishment offering a variety of options. The $5 per person does not quite cover breakfast. Indoor pool is nice. Be advised that the other BW in town the Tyrolean is outdated and in extremely poor condition. This one is very nice and comfortable with an attractive mountain-lodge style design.
Great hotel such comfy bed and nice sheets!! Breakfast from Wrap City downstairs is fantastic! We love looking at the mountains from our balcony!! Such a great staff! Love Gabby at the front desk! It's nice to be so close to town and have great air conditions too!
The beds were good and slept very well. There was a good hot shower. The WIFI was adequate for personal use. The check in process was quick and without problems. No complimentary breakfast. For the price of this place that is a big negative. There is a good grocery within walking distance so you can buy item for your own breakfast
I highly recommend the Best Western Kentwood Lodge. The rooms are updated and very clean. Once you check in you can walk to grocery stores, art galleries, restaurants and shops. They have covered parking which is wonderful on hot days or snowy days. The owners take pride in this loved property with many personal touches. This charming property exceeded our expectations. Next time we're in town we'll stay with them again.
The front desk personnel were some of the nicest I've ever experienced. They were so helpful. The property is absolutely beautiful. You have done an excellent job maintaining property. Thank you so much for the pleasant visit.
Should avoid questioning any of the women (except the hippy lady, she is very helpful and accommodating) at the front desk. AT ALL COSTS. Questioning or criticizing will get you a visit by the local Blaine Co. Sherriff. you've been warned.
Tonya at the front desk has fantastic. Great room with 2 queen beds, Reasonably priced. Walk to all spots in Ketchum. 3 minute drive to the River Run Lodge. Indoor Jacuzzi and pool was nice for after ski
I liked the hotel it had a market close to it and is right on the main drag heading into town. They didn't have a breakfast so it a little pain. Told there is a restaurant right on the property didn't use it. Got food from the market next door. It has a nice pool and spa I will stay again if in the area.
Been staying here for the Boulder Mountain Tour nordic race, and some years an additional late season ski trip, since 2019. Its a little pricier than other options, but a good location and they've always had a room set up so we could wax skis for the race. Not anymore. When we arrived this year we asked when the conference room would be set up for waxing and the clerk at the desk didn't know what we were talking about, but would check into it. The next morning we get a call and are told they weren't setting up the conference room for waxing this year. They couldn't tell me why, as there were generally several racers staying here and using the wax rom. They refused to offer any kind of accommodation (strict "no skis allowed in your room" policy, not that it mattered since even the balcony would've been too small to set up my wax table), nor would the "front desk manager" refer me to whoever made the decision. I told them they were going to lose our business, and probably the business of several other folks, but they were somewhat condescending and didn't seem to care. My wife went to the front desk twice to talk to them, the first time to let them know that if this didn't change that we'd be looking for other accommodations, and the second time to tell them we were checking out, but nothing changed. When we later stopped by to check out (four days early) the clerk, "front desk manager", says "we probably could've set up a sheet in the ski storage room, and you could've waxed in there". Really!? Way too little, way to late! The car is already packed and we have reservations at another hotel, that, oh by the way, has a wax room, serves breakfast, has a way better view, and is going to save us several hundred dollars. Honestly, I should've seen this coming last year, as service was bad then. Maid service was by exception, you had to ask for it. Even when I asked for items to be restocked I still wound up having to go to the front desk to get them myself. On the way out the door today I had a fully loaded luggage trolley trying to get through the double doors out to the parking lot and I noticed somebody squeezing behind me to go down the hall. It was a maid, too busy looking at her cell phone to even bother to possibly help and hold a door open. This place has completely forgotten what customer service is, and for a bill that totals over $400/night that's ridiculous, even in Sun Valley.
Best Western Kentwood Lodge is one of our favorite places to stay. The office staff is very friendly and always accommodating. This is not a thrills style hotel, but its located in the best area of Ketchum and I would stay there over and over! Thank you to all of the staff for everything!
We drove from Boise, through the mountains and into Ketchum with no idea where we were staying. A gas station clerk in a tiny town recommended this hotel, so we walked in and asked for a room. The lady at the desk was so nice! We got an awesome room with a fireplace. Very warm and cozy. Location was fantastic -- right at the edge of town, but with restaurants and shops just a couple blocks away. We were given breakfast coupons for a little cafe attached to the hotel. This hotel was such a nice surprise!!
Tanya at the front desk provided a friendly professional welcome. The room was large and quite comfortable. The balcony was an added plus since we could then have fresh mountain air in our room. If you didn't look at the parking lot below and instead fixed your view of the trees and hills it was wonderful. The location was perfect for access to walk to restaurants.
The low marks for the service are directed solely towards the manager on duty. She was extremely unaccommodating to our needs as new customers. She was not warm or friendly. We had very expensive mountain bikes and were told that they could not stay in the rooms nor be anywhere in the hotel. She suggested that we keep them on our vehicle which was not an option since our bikes are worth $14,000. There was no indication of this rule when we booked the room. Upon arrival at the hotel we were informed about this rule, not only could we not store the bikes in the room, but they offered no alternative storage options in the hotel. They also informed us that no other hotels in Ketchum would allow bikes in their rooms. When we called the Hotel Ketchum we were told not only can you keep them in your room but they also provided gear storage. When we returned to the front desk and informed them that we wanted to stay at that hotel, we were told that you can do that but we will have to charge you for the night. We found this to be coercive. Fortunately, after the manager left, the front desk employee was gracious enough to offer the ski locker, which was not being used, and provided an upgraded room. We accepted this offer but still had to sneak the bikes in and out every day. The manager did catch us one day in mid transition and sternly told us to store the bikes in the back of our truck. We informed her again that this would not be possible because they could be stolen, she again offered no remedy and continued to watch us. She made us feel like criminals for just being hotel customers trying to enjoy our weekend. As long as that manager is there and that policy remains we will not stay at this hotel again. Also, the hotel is very dated as compared to other hotels in town, circa 1980s. Do not stay there if you have bikes.
Very nice Best Western! Our room ….204…..was very large, 2 Queens, sitting area and a gas fireplace! Spaciousness is always great…extra bar with sink was a nice addition! Garage parking was a nice added touch! There is no food service on site….a small cafe is next door!
Perfect location on the edge of downtown, clean room, quiet, hot tub was indoors and great. Great coffee in the lobby. Parking was convenient. Able to walk to all the restaurants, shopping and all sun valley amenities
This is the nicest Best Western I've stayed at. The whole place has a very cozy home feel to it and the staff is really friendly. The pool looks nice although we didn't get the chance to swim in it. Those ducks are NOT real! I had a blonde moment and actually thought they were, haha. Our room was very nice with a little balcony to watch the sunset and sunrise. It was so relaxing and comfortable. We didn't want to leave! The hotel doesn't offer complimentary breakfast, but there is a restaurant on site, so you can buy breakfast. We ate there and it was really good. There is plenty of free parking and the hotel is within walking distance to everything. Overall, this place was absolutely perfect, and we will definitely stay here again!
Stayed here 2 nights to visit Sun Valley and Crsters of the Moon. Outstanding check in with a smiling friendly receptionist at midnight after a 2.5h drive from Boise. Room was excellent, clean, with a fridge and microwave. The hotel has an indoor pool and gym, lots of parking and and easy walk to shops and restaurants in Ketchum. Highly recommend as a base for those visiting
Though there is a locking room for ski's and bikes, the policy is no bikes in rooms. I can understand if the bikes are muddy etc. We will look elsewhere next time. If we travel without our ebikes, we will possibly stay here.
Twice I have stated this hotel in twice they've put me in the same stinky smelly room. Smell like dog urine and mold. I'm a diamond member and this room is probably the worst room they have in the whole entire Hotel. I came with another couple that was put on the second floor in a beautiful room with a balcony. The toilet in the room had to be one and a half foot off the floor the bed is about 15 years old lumpy and horrible. I was not offered my points for a diamond member or even a bottle of water. Will not be staying here again. And I do not want the lady that answers the reviews to contact me. Or rebuttal.
Newly built centrally located property. The attached restaurant (Wrapcity Cafe) served excellent food at a very reasonable price. Nice indoor pool and spa. Short walk to multiple excellent restaurants, shopping, and supermarket. Ample outdoor and covered parking. Close to River Run parking lots and lodge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Large rooms with comfortable beds. High-tech Keurig coffee maker in main lobby a big plus (Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Espresso, etc.). My 14-year-old son decided to try every combination of drinks he could make during our six days stay!
Had a great 5 days staying at this Best Western, Great location, friendly staff, room was immaculate and super comfy beds and linens. Look forward to staying again next year !! Great breakfast spot on property and a nice hot tub and pool as well !!
The staff was great, but the rooms needed a deep clean. The first room had been smoked in, the second, upgraded room could use a carpet cleaning. The bathroom had a smell of urine which we took care of with clorox wipes. I realize that the hotel is not in the high end price range, but it wasn't inexpensive and I expect better for my money.
In town to ski at Sun Valley. First time here, really enjoyed the ski area, the town and the hotel. Hotel was clean and comfortable and in a perfect location, close to ski area, but walking distance from all the restaurants in town,
My son was certifying to be a ski instructor in Sun Valley, so we made a family vacation out of it. We weren't able to arrive until 1am, but Tonya at the front desk greeted us with the most amazing smile, and went way above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and able to rest. We stayed 3 nights and loved the clean pool, and hot tub after a long day on the slopes. We came during holiday weekend, so prices were high, but I'd definitely stay here again. We could catch a shuttle to either mountain resort, and walk to dinner and grocery store after.
The Best Western Plus Kentwood Lodge offers the best value, by far, in Sun Valley. I was blown away by the friendliness of the staff, the size of the rooms, the excellent location and the overall service. I'll definitely be staying there again!
My wife and I visit Ketchum at least twice a year, staying at the Best Western Kentwood Lodge. It's close to everything we need or want, and it's always good to see the familiar faces of the staff. Things change around town, but the Kentwood can be relied on.
Great location in walking distance to many restaurants. Extremely clean and comfortable rooms. Very nice and helpful staff. They found some wine glasses for us. We enjoyed playing cards in the lobby by the fire with a glass of wine. The breakfast at wrapcity was very nice and much better than typical hotel breakfast offerings.
A very nice, comfortable property, well located in the centre of town. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. Great value for money. I was a bit disappointed in the exercise room not being open until 9:00.
Our trip was redirected due to fires. This hotel was walking distance to all locations in Ketchum. Great rooms, comfortable beds, staff were helpful and friendly. The area is beautiful. The food in the area is absolutely delicious! We did not get a bad meal. Shops were fun. Hiking was unbelievable.
What a great hotel. Quick check-in. Spacious rooms. Our room had a refrigerator, microwave, and stove. Great central location in Ketchum. Indoor pool was chilly, but great hot tub. Reasonable prices in the vending machines. Washer and dryer available on each floor for 2.50 each. Exercise room had heavy dumbbells and cable machine in addition to treadmill. Free parking available inside and in garage. Friendly house keeping. The best part- I left my airpod pros in my room and they found them! They are shipping it back to me. You cannot beat the service here!
Stayed here one night on the way to a rafting trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Great place and very convenient for walking to everything in downtown Ketchum. Staff was very friendly and helpful—had great recommendations for places to eat.
Came out here on business and had trouble getting rooms for the entire time. When I arrived Brook went to work getting me a room for all 18 nights. The staff is amazing.i will only stay here when I come to town
The first problem we ran into was that they don't let you bring bikes into your room or provide a safe place to store bikes. They allow you to store bikes in their ski locker which is tiny and every single person staying in the hotel has access. Nowhere during booking does it say you will not be allowed to bring your bikes into your room, so that was an unpleasant surprise during check-in. When you check in, they make sure you know there will be no housekeeping while you're there yet we were awakened the morning before we were to check out by housekeeping knocking on our door which was extremely annoying. The Internet was so bad you couldn't even use it. The room was nice and so was the staff. I think the hotel was very expensive for what you get but that seems to be the case with everywhere in Sun Valley.
Pros Location is great! Staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again Nice little microwave, sink, coffee and fridge area in the room . Enjoyed the little balcony Cons I do wish daily room cleaning was included. Didn't use the one $5 b fast voucher. There were 3 of us and that is what we received for 2 days.
The Best Western Kentwood Lodge is a great location in Ketchum within walking distance of great restaurants. It's clean with large rooms, and comfortable beds. The rooms are a little outdated, however it's clean and comfortable.
Since my wife and I moved to Idaho four years ago, we have visited Sun Valley a number of times, but this was the first and LAST time we will ever stay in this property. 1. We booked a month in advance. At $260.00 a night, was given a room that looked out over Hwy 75, which is Main street at a stop light. The only fresh air opening to the room was a sliding glass door which we could never open to due to horrible traffic congestion noise and fumes from the diesel trucks and other construction vehicles. Even while being confined in this closed up room, the sound was intrusive and kept us up till late hours of the early mornings. This room should be converted to internal business use, or for “emergency” guest stays or at least offered a discount. OR, how about converting this and the adjoining room to a breakfast area. Our last morning, there was a large 18 wheeler off loading supplies for the restaurant next door at 6:45 am. 2. When I asked for our $5.00 coupons for the café next door, I was given some non-sensical explanation about how “I used Google”, or other parties to book the room. I have been a BW Gold member for a number of years, and always go directly to the BW website. I never use “3rd party” for reservations. I engaged with “Annie” the night of our arrival and then again the next morning as to WHY ? we didn't “qualify” for the $5.00 coupons… she was RUDE, condescending, and protected those simple coupons like they were the “Crown Jewels”… For a stay that cost $580.00 for TWO NIGHTS, I think a couple of coupons as shown on the website was warranted. I was going to ask to switch rooms, but since I had the unfortunate experience of having to talk with her the night before and also the next morning, and given her attitude, there was NO WAY she would have accommodated us… while the lady that originally checked us in was pleasant, this “Annie” lady obviously would do NOTHING for us…. She obviously failed to grasp the concept of future business / referrals. 3. Also, for this type of $$, given no breakfast, etc., how about at least ONE, commercial free movie channel. I really fail to see whey this property is rated as a Best Western “PLUS”, and I will be checking to make sure we get our “points”, as I generally try to book at BW whenever possible.
This great hotel located on the south side of town was reasonably priced for the two nights we stayed. My cousin and I had room 212 which looked over main street and parking lot where we parked our vehicle. There is covered parking as well but suspect it may fill up soon during inclement weather. My uncle and mate had room 211 which was opposite the hall from us. Each room came with double queen beds, refrigerator, microwave, large desk area, and a sitting chair off to the side near the a/c and heating unit. The rooms were spacious. Staff was friendly and my cousin and uncle tried the pool. Not much special to say, it is a pool; clean water, large enough for a bunch of guests and is indoors near the front entrance. Everything worked while we were there such as the appliances in the room and the ice machine down the hall. There are two areas where I was disappointed. First, room service took all of our used towels and soap and replaced it with clean towels and new soap. My cousin and I made it a point to hang our towels so they could be reused. We were only there for two nights so it is not that difficult to get two uses out of a large towel. Also, the soaps were used only once so I find it disappointing each soap, with over 95% of its life left, was trashed. Seems like a waste. Second, my mattress was too soft. As a side sleeper, I prefer my mattresses to have a bit more rigidity. My cousins mattress was the same but it didn't seem to bother him. I would use this place again b/c it was in a good location, everything worked, employees were kind and helpful and the desk area where I could get some work done was adequate.
The Kentwood Lodge is located on Main Street in downtown Ketchum near restaurants and shops and the surrounding scenery is beautiful. All the negatives in past reviews seem to have been corrected. Front desk staff is very helpful and friendly, bed really comfortable, everything clean and the little balcony a nice plus. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Husband and I needed a small getaway for our anniversary. We live in Boise and had never been to the Ketchum/Sun Valley area. From the moment we walked in to the inviting and warm front area to the time that we left it was a fantastic experience. During check in the front desk person was knowledgeable about things to do while we stayed and places to eat. They suggested thrift store shopping which immediately got our attention. She even brought up a list of thrift store to our room. The room was well lit, comfortable, and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and soft enough for me. The shower was luxurious and plenty of hot water. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
Stayed at the comfortable Kentwood Lodge which was super convenient for the Sun Valley Film Festival #SVFF. We'll be back. Lovely pool and spa. Breakfast next door at Wrap City was satisfying. Comfortable bed and bedding. Vikki at front desk welcoming and friendly.
Exceeded our expectations- perfect for our family ski and snowboarding trip with 4 adult kids! We can't wait to book here again next season! Shuttle or drive 3 min to mountain and walk to everything in town easily! Just ideal! We were so thrilled!
Clean with nice amenities right in downtown Ketchum. Very good value. Very clean. Staff was great. Loved the pool and hot tub after skiing. We will definitely stay there the next time we visit Sun Valley.
This was my second stay here. Slightly bigger than average rooms, and very comfortable, with all you need for a few days. Short walk into town, again, with all you need, in a few hundred yards. There is also very comfortable, inviting lobby The bedding was good quality, with a warm cover with native Indian images on it (made in China, sadly) The room also had a small balcony, with a view of the mountains. Downside? The external wall mounted heater in our room was ridiculously loud. When it was on, a conversation was very difficult. It was like having a jumbo jet parked below your window.
Stayed here unexpectedly for 2 nights in March following flight cancellations. Booked at the last minute from Sun Valley airport. I had actually stayed at the other Best Western (Tyrolean) in Ketchum for 2 weeks prior to staying in the Kentwood. The Kentwood BW was a very nice stay - fast check in, clean & nicely appointed. Indoor pool & hot tub. Room 325 was a corner room with windows/doors on two sides with pleasant city/hill views. Comfortable furnishings. Very quiet. Daily housekeeping. The standout here was Cindy at check in. I was trying to arrange a 5am transfer to the airport Sunday morning, she went above and beyond in ensuring I had a ride there! Greatly appreciated and wonderful service. If choosing between the two Best Westerns in Ketchum - noting both are very nice and well kept with great staff - if prices are comparable (which they were when I booked) I personally would lean towards the Tyrolean on the basis that breakfast is included, the hot tub is outside and it's walking distance from the slopes. But still both safe, comfortable, pleasant stays with a reliable hotel chain.
have been staying at the kentwood for many years . Both business and personal trips. Great location , super clean and incredible staff ! Great breakfast deal next door and walking distance to all restaurants, shops and the bus line
The hotel is in a fantastic location. It's clean and nicely equipped. The lobby was wonderful for a smaller hotel -- it's where I spent pleasant mornings catching up on the computer. Good bed, good coffee, surprisingly large room. For the price it's a steal. Would definitely be a first choice on future visits.
Highly recommend this hotel. Within walking to breakfast lunch and dinner. While staying check out the Sun Valley Lodge just a few minutes up the road. Dine at the Kneadery for breakfast or brunch, Pioneer Saloon was 7 out of 10.
Stayed at this hotel for one night while visiting Ketchum. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Plenty of on-site parking. Easy walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
We travel as often as possible, this facility was perhaps the CLEANEST hotel we have been in for two years. SPOTLESS room, spotless grounds. The staff was outstanding in EVERY respect. The general manager must be very proud of his or her staff. We have stayed in the hotel many times and after some 28 years of operation it is extremely well maintained and upgraded. Vicki at the reception desk was a joy with a wealth of information. Kudos to the staff of this great hotel.
Great location in town! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and fully stocked. The pool and jacuzzi felt great! The only negative I could think of is that they don't provide breakfast, but they do give you a $5 voucher to a cafe next door. Again, the cafe doesn't open until 7:30am…
A tire blew out and they had a room. Smokers at entrance was unexpected but allowed. $5 breakfast voucher because of "covid" although 2 other BWP - in same state offer buffet meals- did not cover a "real" breakfast. Felt it fell short of BWP standards and could have stayed at " off brand" hotel for value. They charged more than the online price and I wrote corporate after no adjustment AND they wouldn't take any points for room.- said i had to "call corporate". I scored them higher because I slept well...
I spent five nights here, and could not have been happier with the hotel. I was in a room facing the back on the 3rd (top) floor, which was extremely quiet and had a nice little private balcony. Guest laundry is available on two floors and it was very clean and accessible. There's a very nice grocery store just a couple of doors down. Everything in town is walkable from here. Parking was easy to enter and exit, and there is some covered parking, which was very nice in the hot summer. The bed was super comfortable. The entire property is well-maintained and clean. Due to COVID spikes and new CDC guidance, the staff had resumed wearing masks. Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. I had a couple of minor maintenance issues that were dealt with promptly. Loved my little in-room Kuerig, wet bar and fridge. There's also a microwave. Perfect for preparing small meals when I didn't want to go out to eat. I saw that some reviewers complained that there is no breakfast at this facility. I'm not a big fan of hotel breakfasts, so this did not concern me. So many nice restaurants a stones throw away where you can get a really GREAT breakfast. I highly recommend this facility, and would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.
We enjoyed a two day visit to Ketchum and surrounding area. The hotel is in a great location for walking to restaurants and shopping. The rooms are a bit outdated, but clean and comfortable. Parking is adequate. Ask fir a room on the rear of hotel if street noise is an issue for you.
First there is no breakfast available (I do not know of any other Best Western where that is the case). management will state that breakfast is not mentioned on the website but I still have not run across another Best Western that does not provide breakfast.. The other Best Western in town does offer breakfast. There was not a voucher offered for the restaurant next door like some previous reviews mentioned. . Our towel bar broke the first morning (we told front desk and someone just snapped it back up and, of course, it fell off the wall the first time trying to place a towel on it. when desk was informed, we were told they did not have a maintenance person for that week so it was not repaired. very thin walls as people talking in hallway echos through the room. First night upstair guest were very loud for quite a long time. room was large and easy walking distance to restaurants and stores. It is along the main road so ask for a room not facing roadway. Rooms not serviced unless requested.
I have really fallen in love the Best Western brand over the last number of year, this property included. Our room was fairly large and very clean. The room also includes a wet bar with a sink, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and fridge. Upon request for more towels/toiletries they were quickly brought up by housekeeping. Our room also had a fireplace, which was nice. The staff were all very friendly and very responsive. I really enjoyed the property and we will stay here again if we are in the area.
We only stayed one night, but I would have enjoyed being there longer. The location is perfect, walking distance to restaurants, etc. The staff was very friendly and gave us a great suggestion for dinner at The Cellar. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There is a pool that looked inviting, but we didn't have an opportunity to try it out. We had a room on the second floor in the back of the hotel. It was much quieter than the front side, which faces a busy street. Our view was pleasant, looking out towards a mountain. Instead of a continental breakfast, we received vouchers to help cover our breakfast at Wrap City cafe next door. This was nice because the cafe offers lots of options for breakfast. I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, while my husband had a wrap which had eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese, sour cream and salsa. Both were very tasty and quite large. After our vouchers were used, breakfast cost just over $2! A deal indeed! Overall I completely recommend this hotel. It was a great experience.
We walked or cycled everywhere right from the hotel. Very close to the hot spots of Ketchum. Not a fan of their old school small toilets, but room was otherwise comfortable with a small veranda that was pleasant to sit at in the evening.
Hotel was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room decor was mountain rustic and very comfortable. Great location walkable to just about everything. Five dollar credit given per person for the restaurant next door. The food was good and reasonably priced. Recommend the Sawtooth Club for dinner and the Kneadery for breakfast.
Clean, quiet, comfortable and centrally located. Excellent staff and my family enjoyed the pool area. Parking is tight for suv/trucks. Within walking distance to downtown food options. Rooms were exceptionally clean.
We have been traveling to ski at Sun Valley since the late 1970's, and we usually stay at the Sun Valley Lodge or the Sun Valley Inn, but with the COVID-19 restaurant dining restrictions we decided that we should rent a condo, so we could have a kitchen "just in case"! While searching for a condo, an ad for the "Best Western Plus Kentwood Lodge" popped-up noting that they had rooms with kitchens. We phoned the hotel direct and learned that there was indeed a kitchen suite available and the room rate was very affordable, plus the hotel is located within walking distance to all of our favorite restaurants and shops, so we decided to give this hotel a try. The hotel is very warm and sparkling clean throughout, and ALL of the Staff were amazing! Our room was beautiful, spacious and most comfortable! We enjoyed the comfortable King-size bed with lovely linens, the beautiful gas fireplace, the wet bar and it was a luxury to have the kitchen to cook up our casual breakfast or dinner and after-skiing appetizers. The only complaint is the bathroom was a bit small, but it was immaculate and the cast iron tub was MOST comfortable for our nightly bubble baths! This hotel room quickly became our "lil' home away from home"...'we just fell in love with it and we already reserved it for next year!
I've been traveling to Ketchum for business for over 15 years now. I always stay at the Kentwood Best Western because of its good location and friendly, caring staff. Many hotels I frequent get “run down” after several years, but the Kentwood just gets better, Recent new western art pictures in the rooms as well as new paint and carpets. And the hotel has always been very clean.
This hotel was a great escape. Hotel was very accommodating as we had another hotel booked and they didn't have elevator so they called this hotel and transferred us over to Kentwood Lodge. The front desk lady was very helpful and honored our previous rate at other hotel. Room was excellent for two adults and child. Plenty of room, lots of space and very clean and inviting. We will definitely return to this hotel for our future stays in Sun Valley area.
All these reviews touting their 'pillow top mattress' was one reason why we chose this property; sleep is important to us especially when away from home and your own bedding. The two beds in our room felt nothing like pillow tops plus their sheets are very scratchy; not at all soft. This was a good location and quiet enough but the walls are very thin; easy to hear even the slightest conversation next door. Toilets are old, takes 2-3 flushes to work properly and shower had minimal water pressure. We only stayed one night but would choose another hotel if we visit Ketchum again.
As someone that has averaged 200+ nights in a hotel for the last 16years I am well versed in what makes a desirable hotel for guests. Kentwood Lodge checks every box and then some. From the the unique log cabin (more like log mansion) design to the attentive staff and cleanliness of the rooms this is a place I can not wait to get back to
We stayed at this Best Western to ski in December 2020. The hotel was perfect. Great location, great staff and amenities worked out great for us. We wanted a short family vacation to get some fresh air and thought skiing would be an ideal quick getaway. I would definitely stay at this Best Western again. Its very reasonably priced and its very centrally located - right on Main Street and close to both ski resorts.
Location is prime and the value is great. With the exception of one male front desk clerk, the staff was exceptional!. Ski locker room offered 2 layers of security - very convenient. Room was larger than most. Hotel was 1/2 the price of the Limelight Hotel across the street. Breakfast vouchers a nice touch; there was a full-service grocery store next door. Lobby coffee was cool and stale at 7am however. Will come again!
The room was filthy when we checked in. Poop on the side of the toilet. We called the front desk and asked if housekeeping could clean it. They said no and offered another room, which was half the size of the room we requested. So we opted to stay in the original room and cleaned the toilet ourselves! Over $300 per night!
This hotel checked every box at an affordable price tag. Staff were friendly and helpful. Entire hotel, inclusive of staff, made me feel safe in terms of COVID practices. The room was large with a kitchenette and fireplace. Great location to walk Ketchum as well as to the River Run parking lot. Overall very aesthetic hotel and great experience!
Traveling for pre and post op reasons. Staff was remarkable in making sure we were taken care of and had easy access to our room. They were always asking if there was anything more they could do for us.
Very low water pressure in the room, cool water in the bathtub, not hot like we wanted. Fun swimming pool/hot tub. Great location. Great decor. Water in the room was our only issue. We would go back and visit again, but we will check the water pressure before getting unpacked next time.
Clean room, basic but nice. Convenient and quick walk to bars/ restaurants. Covered Parking. Nice Pool / spa area. Friendly front desk service. Good Internet. Bed was a little soft for me but otherwise a good nights rest.
We stayed at the BW Kentwood Lodge in Ketchum, Id. and really enjoyed the stay. Nice facility, clean rooms, close to the entire downtown experience.. Will definitely stay there again. Overall, a great place to stay.
Stayed here on our way to Boise off season. Very quiet still c19 era so rooms not made daily. Maybe some day things will get back to normal. Older hotel rooms were clean and neat. Breakfast not worth the extra room charge. Thought you would get a deal getting it before hand.
Went there for my birthday and had an amazing time in Ketchum. Got my period in the middle of the night and got charged 300 dollars by this hotel. Absolutely ridiculous, considering it was nothing I could control. Talked to someone at the front desk and they said it happens all the time, yet still no refund. Also 2 of their employees were not wearing a mask, highly unprofessional. Try limelight instead. 0 stars.
Nice hotel, but no COVID safety to speak of except a sign in front with hand sanitizer. Staying at the Ketchum, ID Kentwood, front desk staff has not worn a mask at all since our arrival, housekeeping wears them on their chins, and only half of the guests are wearing them even though there is a town ordinance that they are required. What's up with this? It all starts with the front desk.
We stayed at the Kentwood a few weeks ago on our alternate (COVID) vacation. We traveled from SLC UT and had a wonderful time in Idaho for our vacation. It was beautiful weather and peaceful. People were being safe and kind with others. We really appreciated it! The Kentwood is a great hotel. The swimming pool was very nice and the hot tub was very relaxing. People were kind and gave us distance. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel does not give mid stay cleaning services with the COVID threat. They left a very nice note explaining that they would be willing to bring anything we needed and it would be a no contact delivery. We had a small balcony and it was lovely! The hotel was connected to a breakfast place next door and they gave us vouchers for a lunch or breakfast each day we were there. It was excellent food and we enjoyed the very short walk there. There was outdoor seating and they brought out our food when it was ready. From our hotel we walked the entire distance of main street each day. It was such a wonderful trip and the Kentwood was a very comfortable place to stay!
We were able to get a room for our family of 4 at the last minute at a very reasonable cost. Big, comfortable, clean and quiet - right in the center of Ketchum and just a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants etc.... Quick and easy check-in, free on-site parking and lots of COVID-19 measures. Would definitely stay here again.
Just spent several days hiking/biking the Sun Valley area . This hotel was clean and prepared for guests during a very unnerving time- hand sanitizers, signage, and precautions galore. Staff were helpful and cheerful for a pleasant stay. Proximity to trails, sights was excellent.Local bus available right in front of the hotel in order to "map" out the area. Pool and sun deck available after your hike/bike.
Pretty average hotel that is overpriced just because of location. It's not that I would have any problem staying here again, though. The internet was all over the place, hotel is loud, shower has very little pressure. But, if you wanted to be in Ketchum, it is a good location, and the room was clean. The bed was fine, but not great. Old hotel with a decent remodel. The one thing that did annoy me was the sign upon entry "requiring" the use of hand sanitizer, but a face mask was optional. No employee was wearing a face mask. I don't know if this was just a feel good thing, or if they were serious, but it is incredibly illogical. I get that everyone is struggling with how to move forward in the age of coronavirus, but use some common sense.
My room was spacious and clean. I felt comfortable with the location. Checkin was fast and the clerk signed me up right then for the BW program, which gave me additional savings. Fast checkin and check out.
I think this is a very underrated hotel in Sun Valley, maybe because it's a Best Western. I have nothing against the Sun Valley Inn and was about to book there, but wanted to look at other properties. The Best Western is more convenient to the slopes and the town, the rooms are great and come with fireplaces. The pool was fine and the hot tub was awesome. And the price wasn't just a little less, it was less than half the price - maybe even 2/3 less. And the staff was excellent. Being able to walk to the restaurants in town after skiing is key for us. It is so much more convenient than taking your car or an UBER. And by the way, we went to the Sun Valley Inn for dinner and drinks one night and it was great to visit and is a must see while you are there. But, if saving close to $1,000 over a 3-4 day stay might be important to you without sacrificing much in my opinion, please consider this hotel in town. And yes, go spend some of those savings at the great restaurants in town.
Nice Place to Stay in Ketchum when skiing at Sun Valley. The rooms are a nice size, the bedding comfortable, and the price reasonable when compared with many other Ketchum/Sun Valley lodging options. What is special is the indoor heated pool and hot tub -- when I was there the early evening temperatures in Ketchum were in the teens so it was wonderful to not have to be outside in those temperatures. I stayed for 6 days and got to know many of the front-desk staff and they were all engaging and accommodating, with lot's of suggestions for enjoying Skiing at Sun Valley and dining in Ketchum. To my surprise there is no shuttle service and only minimal bus service (hourly) to Sun Valley ski area so unless you are very organized (not me) you have to drive. However, it is only a 5 minute drive to the River Run parking lot, which has frequent shuttle buses to the lodge. And I discovered that if you go in the late morning (as I always do), it's worth checking the closest walking areas as you can frequently get a parking spot from some local regular who did some early first-runs and then left. One tip -- if you don't like carrying your skis from-and-to-your car, there is a slope-side overnight ski check for only $7, so I only carried my skis once during the week. The hotel has a good amount of parking, with about 20 spots under cover which is helpful when it snows. The hotel does not have it's own restaurant, but they are right next door to WrapCity, for which they give you a $5/guest daily coupon. WrapCity's eat-in environment is basic no-frills, but they have a surprisingly varied menu with each dish well-prepared and reasonably priced, so I either ate in or took our (or both) many days (see my separate review). For a fancier dinner, there are many places within a few blocks. The room was well heated with an in-the-wall fan unit with the heat source separate so there is no compressor noise. Unfortunately there was only a single high fan speed so it was noisier than I like, but I just used my Bose noise-canceling earbuds and the sound went away. South Main Street has fairly heavy traffic starting around 7AM but it is quiet at night so not a problem if you are an early riser. If you are a later riser, ask the staff to put you on a different side. The third floor ice machine is pretty noisy but not the 2nd floor). If you are sensitive to noise ask the staff -- they know their hotel and want you to be comfortable.
Checked into this property expecting something more interesting and attractive than what we received. The staff was totally indifferent - almost condescending and the room was nothing special. The location was OK and breakfast typical of a mid-range hotel. Thought it was expenisive for what we got.
Overall this hotel is a good value. The beds are comfortable. It's centrally located. The city bus schedule to the ski mountain is a little funky. It has a small fitness center and pool. The room are nice. The front desk was kind and extremely accommodating.
This hotel had a great room, very clean, updated, and the owner Cindy is very friendly and runs a first class establishment. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to others. Do not hesitate to book a room at this Hotel.
The Kentwood is amazingly clean. The whole place is fresh. The faucets, sinks and counters gleamed in our room. They also provide extra pillows, which is nice. If travelling with kids, they have a nice large indoor pool. We have stayed here several times in the past and this time did not disappoint.
Business or leisure nice place to stay with friendly staff that were helpful. Close to restaurants to walk to. Beautiful Mountain View's. Very well maintained and rooms very clean. Village Market 1 block away with nice deli.
I just love this hotel. We stay here ever time we come through Sun Valley, Idaho. The employees are extremely helpful and gave great recommendations for restaurants. Make sure to get a room with a fire place,
Nice facility. Close to everthing in town. Room was clean, well kept and maintained. Nice view of Bald Mt. from our balcony. So why do I have to have 200 characters if I can express my opinion in less than 200?
My wife and I visit Ketchum at least twice each year and always make a point of staying at the BW Kentwood. It's comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, stores, and theaters, and is an essential part of our trip.
Nice motel on west side of Ketchum. Walking distance to all of ketchum. Coupon for great bagel breakfast at restaurant next door. Nice decks overlooking Ketchum and main atreet. Rooms are nicely equipped and staff helpful.
My husband and I have stayed her twice this year and both visits were wonderful. Easy check in, spacious and clean rooms and easy parking make this our favorite hotel in Ketchum. The hotel is an easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shops. There's a grocery store next store if you need anything.
Nice, well kept property in walking distance to shopping, restaurants, etc. Room was clean and well appointed. Staff is exceptional especially Gabby - who opened the lobby desk everyday at 7am and made me feel like I was at home and my business was important! Cindy who checked us in was equally outstanding! Rooms on street side can be loud if windows are open. We had a nice gas fireplace in the room which kept it toasty! This property does not have a continental breakfast but gives out a voucher for $5 to have breakfast next door. I prefer the BW continental breakfasts due to the variety of choices. When eating next door you are limited to selections from their menu. Also, the property has a flat screen TV in lobby sitting area which is only for promotional purposes. It would be nice to have that hooked up to cable so guests could watch TV while lounging in front of the fireplace. Overall I would be back!
Even after all these years and plenty of newer hotels in the area, this place is my favorite. It is always clean, comfortable and quiet, and the location is spectacular, within walking distance of just about everything. The best feature is the front desk staff. They are always attentive, kind and helpful, whether on the phone or in-person on arrival and at departure. After checkout, I was able to work for an hour at a large comfortable table in the lobby which was empty except for early morning sunlight...perfect!
We received a great room, actually a small suite, without asking for an upgrade. Even though our room was facing a busy street the road noise was very minimal. Some underground parking and plenty of surface parking withing the property. Desk staff were helpful and friendly. This was a pleasant experience for the area. The Kentwood Lodge will be our hotel of choice in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area from now on.
This hotel is located at the south end of the downtown area so walking anywhere in town was not an issue. Room was clean and front desk staff responsive. We arrived late due to airline delay but staff waited after hours to check us in. There is a small attached restaurant that serves wraps and bowls at very reasonable prices and we got a $5 coupon from the hotel good to use at this place.
This motel is on Main Street, and at the entrance to Ketchum if coming from Boise and Mountain Home. The location is great. The room was spacious and clean. Small balconies for the 2nd and 3rd floor guest rooms. Our screen door could use some WD40, but that was the only problem. Reasonable lodging rates, given the area
Vickie and Gabbie who checked us out were wonderful hostesses This BW is probably the best I have stayed in Nice proportioned rooms w great beds Staff worked really hard to help us rearrange booking as well
great location - right on main street ketchum - close to all the good restaurants and shopping. Rooms were large and well apointed - felt like the whole decor fit in well with Ketchum - kind of a high end mountain retreat feeling.
Hotel was easy to access from main road, clean rooms & great helpful staff. Location to downtown was good, pool was clean. Plenty of parking. Had cookies and brownies at night. Highly recommend if you plan to stay in hotel in that area.
Really enjoyed our month long stay here. Clean and updated with a superb location in Ketchum. Had suite with spacious kitchen. Staff here friendly and helpful especially Paul, the maintenance man, who was outstanding! Paul, could run the place by himself if he had to - eager to please and aggressively and promptly addressed a few repair issues that we had...lucky for this BW Plus he is on the staff. Cleaning crew very efficient too. We will be back!!!
I love staying at this hotel. They are friendly. The rooms are always clean. I loved the heart shaped tub!! The location is great and it is more quaint than some of the bigger hotels. It is close to the restaurants in Ketchum. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Sun Valley area!
A semi affordable clean room with great service. The front desk clerk was very helpful in getting us information that we needed. The breakfast voucher needs a little help and didn't get us much at the next door eatery. But over all a very nice accommodating stay.
I was not coming to Ketchum for a vacation, and had little time to relax. I selected the Best Western Kentwood because of the price, and because I wouldn't have time to enjoy the amenities of the large resort. It was a good value for the season, and the room was clean. Front desk staff were great at check-in. I would stay again. I only rated a 3 because it's not a 5 star hotel, but I was definitely satisfied with this 3 star hotel.
Stayed a couple of nights to go hiking in Sun Valley. The hotel is quite central, just a short walk to the restaurants and bars. Some undercover parking but not a lot out front. Unsure how much there is at the back. Room was typical B.W. which is what you'd expect. Had a balcony which was nice. Room was clean and well equipped. Breakfast was extra (about $15 I think), but they did offer a voucher for money off. That was disappointing as, for the price, I think it should have been included. All in all though a good place to stay.
Close to everything, nice rooms/beds, pool and hot tub are nice and they give you a breakfast/lunch coupon for each adult to a spot close by. Overall good experience and recommend it to anyone staying in the area
I've rated this hotel excellent for 2 combined reasons. 1) The room was very clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and the bed was comfortable. Got a nice balcony - not the best view (because of construction that has gone up since it was built)...but plenty good for me! To me there is nothing better than sitting out on a covered balcony in the evening/night - sun, rain, storms, or snow. 2) When we checked in, we were greeted at the front desk by Nelly. (Beautiful, gracious, and wanting to make sure all was good.) Unfortunately when we got to the room, we had some major snags with it - needless to say I was extremely disappointed and unhappy. But Nelly righted all the wrongs and made this experience perfect for us. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Other pros - the hotel is located in a nice area - not in the busiest part of town - but close enough to comfortably walk to restaurants, shops, a market, etc. You can buy your food at the market or walk to a variety of restaurants. It is also a fairly quiet/low key area of town. There is a very helpful fold out resource guide in the room that gives you a wealth of information on everything in town - from dining, stores, transportation, recreation, etc. It also gives you addresses and phone numbers. On the back of it is a map of the town. They even have paper copies of it at the front desk so you can take a copy with you. Indoor pool, exercise equipment, and guest computer, etc. Parking is easy, small lot to side but also a parking garage. Adequate frig and micro. And their suits are beautiful, spacious, and charming.
Room smelled like stale french fries, decorative pillow smelled DISGUSTING! Hairs in bathroom tub, fridge not turned on so when I brought milk with me to keep cold I had to put it in ice first while the fridge got cold. Front desk at check in was horrible customer service, we walked in and the two of them kept talking to each other, ignoring us like we're not important. I had to interrupt them and ask if we could check in, then she acted like I was a bother that she had to help me. They should not be working in the hospitality industry. I was not happy that I had to pay for that kind of service and nasty room.
We travel with our own pillows because we find we sleep better in any room with them, but our room was especially nice because it was large, attractively furnished with a fridge and microwave, and more horizontal surfaces than normal so we could really spread out. The location is near shops, bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance.we would definitely stay here again.
We brought food for next day lunch back to room and found refrigerator not working. We reported to desk and were told to use a bag of ice and was not offered a room change. The breakfast arrangement was at a nearby restaurant where the choices were poor. We did not stay the second night of our reservation.
We stayed 5 nights at this property and found it to be very clean. The beds, linens, furniture and amenities were were first quality. The hotel is next door to a grocery and is within walking distance to almost everything in town. The desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. We felt very safe there. We would stay there again.
Great location, lovely pool and hot tub, clean, good room, etc. But what really made this hotel special and worthy of 5 stars was the service. Vicki and Aubrey were fantastic. There were a couple of MINOR problems with the room and Aubrey was right there to fix it and Vicki made sure the third little problem was fixed the next day. Friendly quick service with a smile! We shall go again!
Charming Western decor. Hotel staff was very friendly, quick check in and she gave us a map of downtown Ketchum highlighting the famous bars/restaurants which were a quick 2 block walk away. Room was very nice with a balcony, wet bar, fridge and microwave. Bed was very comfy. Also had a big indoor pool and hot tub. There is a cafe style restaurant connected but we did go inside. Would highly recommend this property.
The Gym is poorly equipped and poorly ventilated. Therefore the door to the gym must be open if it is to be used. Someone who had been chatting at the front desk for about 30 minutes, and claimed to be hotel staff, although they were not in uniform demanded that I close the gym door, and was otherwise very rude. This occurred in full view of the front desk attendant, who appeared to be complicit in the behavior. Also, you have to take a voucher to a nearby restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant doesn't open until 8:00 a.m. which was too late. I'll stay elsewhere the next time I am in town.
We loved being able to walk around town from our hotel. As an added bonus, we were able to park our car in a covered area, which was great with all of the snow. (There are limited covered parking spaces) The room as very clean, the hot tub was also clean, but the pool looked like a cleaning was in order. No breakfast was provided on the premises, but vouchers were given out for the Wrap store next door. We couldn't use the vouchers as the Wrap store did not open until 8:00 am.
I have been coming to this hotel for years. I had a Beautiful, comfortable room with a fireplace and a heart shaped jacuzzi tub. The bed was comfy with multiple pillows to choose from. The sheets were very clean and soft. I had a Wonderful nights sleep! The hotel is beautifully decorated and impecably clean! Paul the maintenance man went out of his way to fix the fireplace that was not working very well. He is a very hard worker, and worked hours to clear all the snow away from the parking lot for the safety of others. Aubry at the front desk was awsome. She really cared about the customers experience and also helped with fixing the fireplace. The staff bent over backwards to please and were very helpful and attentive to my needs. I had a wonderful time, in a beautiful room. I also loved the Keruig coffee maker and green mountain coffee. They also give you morning breakfast at a place next door. I had the Mayday and it was very good. I will definately be back. I always have a great time at this hotel and have never been disappointed. Thank you for such a great few days!
Great location, close to much of what Ketchum has to offer. Checking in and out was quick and pleasant. As we were in town for the Boulder Mountain Tour, the fact they had turned a banquet room into a place to wax skis was greatly appreciated (emphasis added!). Also, having ski lockers downstairs made things much more convenient. Though they don't serve breakfast they do offer a discount at Wrap City which is right next door. We had a King room with a sitting area which meant ample room for gear, stretching, etc. Two minor issues: 1. Noise. Though noise from adjoining rooms wasn't a factor, we could easily hear the folks upstairs both when they were walking around and in normal conversation. Similarly, you can expect garbage/delivery trucks/snowplows/snowblowers to start showing up at around 5:00AM. earplugs were of little help. 2. Heating control: the thermostat in the room was a bit wonky, as it seemed to have a wide range around the set temperature. You could set it to warm up a couple degrees and nothing would happen (three degrees seemed to be the limit between actual temp and set temp before anything happened). This also meant you could go from being hot to being cold while sleeping at any given set temp.
We stay in Sun Valley for work and this hotel is a great price, friendly staff, awesome location, and clean. we have never had a problem with billing or any other drama and while they do not have a kitchen for breakfast they provide you with a voucher for a meal next door to this hotel. Keep up the good work!!
Loved the location, you can walk to just about anywhere in town you might want to go. The room was large and comfortable with a small microwave and refrigerator, and coffee maker set up in a little kitchenette style with a granite counter and an additional sink. This was handy for little snacks after a day of skiing. They do provide ski lockers downstairs and the underground parking was an awesome feature; it was so easy to load and unload baggage and skis in the garage and straight into the hotel and up the elevator. The indoor pool was warm enough to enjoy in January and the hot tub was just the thing after a busy day skiing! The staff was always friendly and helpful and they gave us 2 $5 coupons to Wrap City next door - Use them, you won't regret it!
Stayed there for a few nights. Easy to find and the staff are very helpful. The workout room is a bit small, pool is okay... Rooms are kind of quiet, and more or less clean. One elevator which can cause a slow down. Parking is spread out around the property. Limited covered parking. This property is close to almost everything and a short walk as well. It is a 20-30 min drive from the airport, but close to the action so that's good. The breakfast is different, they are or have a restaurant some what attached to the property. A voucher is given for $5 off a meal....would rather have the free breakfast instead, but that's not an option here. Over all it was an okay stay.
Great property in excellent location; convenient to ski slopes, restaurants, shopping, and several other attractions. Staff is very friendly, responsive, and helpful. Experience no problems whatsoever. Have utilized this hotel annually for over a decade.
Had a great stay, no issues. Front desk personnel were nice and easy going. Nice to have an indoor pool and hot tub (compared to Tyrolean in the winter). The pool area was super warm which was nice after a day of boarding. Room was comfortable, with a microwave and sink allowed us to eat in our room with food we packed for a super economical trip. The WiFi in our room was a bit weak, but we were able to connect. Would like to see a better hot tea selection, I'm not talking full on gourmet but some more options.
Great place. Will stay again. Close to everything and very comfortable. Not noisy or over crowded like the other so called high end hotels or resorts. Parking was very convenient and the hotel is a hop and skip away from lots of restaurants and shopping. Stay in the heart of Ketchum instead of some boring or remote locations. Staff was outstanding and the hotel was nicely kept and had a quaint feel. And the value cannot be best. 5 Stars.
We paid almost $500 to stay for the weekend & we were lied to about there being a continental breakfast. There is no breakfast provided, they simply give you a coupon to a nearby restaurant (it was gross). For the money you're going to spend, I recommend going somewhere with more guest services.
I asked for a large room and got it. Clean, view of mountain .Good breakfast selection. Easy to find. We were able to Easley walk down town for dinner. Hotel was in a good location. It was a good stay for myself and friends for the conference.
The Best Western Kentwood is ideal for a short stay in Ketchum. Besides being comfortable, it's within very easy walking distance of theaters, good restaurants and large markets. There's a fitness room, a pool and a spa, and a basic breakfast (available next door) comes with your room.
We stayed at this Best Western Kentwood Lodge in Sun Valley in early November. We had a wonderful room with a full kitchen and a fireplace. This hotel was within walking distance of everything downtown. We did not use the pool, but it looked lovely. The staff were very warm and friendly and even assisted us in choosing where to dine that evening. Unfortunately, we were only there one night. I could have stayed many more!
What is not to love! Great location! Very clean! We LOVED our room. I really appreciated the little touches like tea light candles on the fireplace mantel, real mugs for coffee and the robes. Loved the heart shaped, jetted tub. We've gotten many rooms with hot tubs and of all of them, this one filled the fastest! The room was extremely spacious and had a nice sized closet for storage. The shower had a shower head on opposing ends of the shower stall, which my boyfriend LOVED! The bed was ENORMOUS and comfortable; loved the bedding. We did enjoy a dip in the pool, it was a good size and temperature. At check-in we were given vouchers for breakfast at a spot almost in the same building, which was nice. The place had free parking, free wi-fi and was right downtown so we could walk to all the bars and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and really we got the room at a great price for what we got.
Perfect room with all needed amenities. My granddaughter loved the pool - especially playing with the two ducks. On the eastern edge of town, it is a short walk to good food, the ski hill and tram, park, etc.
The Trailing of the sheep festival in Ketchum was on our bucket list, and luckily we got a room at the Kentwood Lodge for all five nights of the Festival. For us it'a almost like coming home here. the staff from the front desk, to the house keepers have your comfort and needs as their #1 priority. Our room was comfortable and cozy, and kept perfectly while we were ther
The property is clean crisp, friendly staff all very professional. Full of great amenities. Nice size ref.,micro without asking. Killer coffee set up in the room. Extra quality blanket [heavy so nice] Walking distance to all of down town Sun Valley. A great place to stay at a good value. I am a partner on many motels and I will be returning to the Kentwood soon. Bill Markovich, Butte Montana
The location and rooms are acceptable at this hotel, but be warned that this hotel has signs up all over stating bikes and skis are not allowed in the rooms. This is their prerogative, but it should be announced on the website before non-refundable reservations are made. I have stayed at other hotels with this policy, but it was clear on the website and they all offered secure storage areas for equipment such as this. This hotel only offered a bolted together bike rack in the parking lot, that was not even in view of the front desk.
This is a fairly typical Best Western Plus and maybe a cut above some Plus - Best Western's. I thought the room decor was great and especially liked the extra sink and counter in the room and also the large bench to set suitcases on. I thought the breakfast coupon to Wrapcity next door worked great. The cafe is basically on the property. At first, I was disappointed there wasn't a breakfast included but ended up being very satisfied with just having a coupon for Wrapcity. I was able to get a breakfast wrap for 35 cents that was excellent in MHO. The hotel is also located near many of the downtown shops and restaurants. There is covered parking although not a lot of spaces. All in all, I thought it a great place to stay. Comfortable beds and pillows excellent shower. I can't come up with any negatives.
Centrally located. Able to walk to restaurants & shops. Nice rustic room. Clean & comfortable. No breakfast served or coupon offered for coffee or breakfast. Front desk offered nice suggestions for dinner.
The Good: Nice building, large rooms, plenty of outlets near the beds. Friendly staff. Clean. The Bad: While breakfast is not included (which would be fine), the hotel offers a $5 coupon to the coffee shop next store. Three problems: 1) the coffee shop doesn't open until 8 am; 2) $5 doesn't buy much; and 3) the bagels are stale, bought off the shelf from the grocery store next door. BW should simply not offer breakfast and try to be competitive that way, or offer a better solution. More bad: No outlets near the only work area in the room. Uncomfortable mattresses and pillows (too soft for our taste). The Ugly: Two nights in a row, other guests in the hotel were yelling and screaming in the hallways around 2 am. Rather than apologizing, the staff has been defensive, saying they couldn't just toss folks out on the street. Maybe not the first night, but they needed a better solution than doing nothing the second time. In addition, soundproofing would have helped, had they done that when they built the hotel. There are other and better choices in town.
The hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly, the check in process was less than 3 minutes. We were surprised to receive coupons for breakfast at a great place right next door. The hotel is in a great location
A great option for staying in Ketchum / Sun Valley - spacious, clean room; nice pool, hot tub, great restaurant next door for breakfast and lunch, and an overall great location. Friendly staff and responsive housekeeping.
We enjoyed our stay and were very impressed by the friendliness of the front desk staff. Great location and a good value overall. We were upgraded to a larger room and when we had a change of plans, our extra night was refunded without an issue.
We stayed here many years ago, decided to again. Our room was quite large with a big bathroom, close to the indoor pool and hot tub. There is an outside area by the pool with tables to sit at. All the needed amenities for our stay. A grocery store close by across the street. Within walking distance to everything in town. Room was clean and quiet. Staff was helpful. In my opinion, one of the better motels in town. Moderate priced.
We arrived after a long drive from Salt Lake City at midnight. Sign on the door says front desk is closed, go around the back to the other door. Ok, so we did that. But the door is locked and only accessible with a room key. How the heck are guests who haven't checked in yet supposed to get in?? The doorbell button did not work. Thankfully another guest saw me and let me in. I go to the front desk and hit the button to call someone. This took several tries until someone came down to help me. I was greeted with, “What do you want?” I wasn't sure if he worked there because he was dressed in a ratty t shirt and looked very disheveled. He handed me my keys and didn't say anything else. SO RUDE. I've never felt so unwelcome at a hotel before. This is unacceptable - why is the front desk “closed” at a major chain hotel? You're in the hospitality business - this is a 24/7 business - you don't get to pick and chose your hours! The rooms were ok. Looked a bit outdated but didn't have any issues. The balcony is really nice to have. Thought the decor was a bit odd - I get where they were going with it, but did a blanket really need to be haphazardly stapled to the wall? Breakfast was great. Didn't like that the cafe doesn't open until 8am but thought the wrap I got was absolutely delicious and better than the normal powdered egg slop that hotels typically provide - was nice to have a real meal. Staff member at the desk in the morning was much more pleasant and happy than the man at night.
Have stayed here many times. I conduct business usually around 3 time a year in Ketchum and I ALWAYS try to stay here. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained and the staff makes you feel like you're family. The beds are very comfortable and the property is easy walking distance to shopping, dining hiking and really good fun!
We stayed here 3 nights in July. Our room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and quiet. My husband appreciated the Keurig coffee in the room, my kids appreciated the pool, and the extra sink came in handy for my family of four. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even went the extra mile for me, searching their supplies for a few ziplock bags, which saved me a trip to Atkinson's. There is no breakfast on site, but there is a wrap place next door that makes a very good breakfast burrito; just don't go on Saturday morning thinking you're going to get your food quickly - the line was very long. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.
This is a really nice place. We loved our warm and welcoming room with fantastic beds and pillows. Great view from our 3rd story window of the mountain and street. The parking was a cramped but we managed ok. The room came with a gift card for a very delicious breakfast next door. It was worth staring here for the breakfast.
We enjoyed a 3-night stay on very comfortable but sturdy beds with choice of pillows. The large room provided a kitchen type sink set up with coffee, microwave, and refrigerator. The closet had plenty of hangers. There were lots of places to set things in the sitting area with wooden table, bench & chair near window and the 4 drawer dresser. Room lighting was unusually good. Plus there are plenty of outlets to connect electronics including the desk lamp. Lighting and counter space in bathroom were adequate. Yummy chocolate chip cookies in the evening are not to be missed. One may walk about town easily from the Lodge. Improvements needed: less scratchy towels. The toilet seat seemed quite low to the floor and might be difficult for older guests. The parking was partly inside and part out but not large and might be tricky on crowded nights.
Everything was great! We almost didn't want to leave our room because we were so comfortable. The staff is very knowledgeable about the area and will answer all your questions kindly. Breakfast was pretty cool too because it was at a small restaurant next door.
We visit Ketchum, Idaho, twice a year, and always make it a point to stay at the Best Western Kentwood. The rooms are comfortable and attractive, there's good strong coffee at Wrap City next door, and theaters, stores and our favorite restaurants are within easy walking distance. It's a perfect combination!
I live in Boise and go once a year..I don't get the rude staff comments..Maybe it was YOU..The breakfast place just up the street out the back is the best..Within staggering distance from the bars...Great place to stay...
This hotel has the best location! You could walk to everything in Ketchum. Our room was huge, clean, and the beds were very comfortable! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Sun Valley area. And Vicki at the front desk was very helpful with all of our questions!
I was pretty impressed with the overall appearance, service and cleanliness of the property. I haven't stayed at many best western hotels and this exceeded expectations. The room was large and had a convenient separate sink. Nice decor and comfortable bed. There were a few negatives, many due to rude guests who lack common sense. For example we were next to the elevator and every loud jerk coming out of it could be heard loudly in our room. Also, oblivious families yelled out in the middle of the hall and at all hours to other family members. Some jerks released their children into the hallways outside the rooms to scream happy new year at the top of their lungs, waking us up. This is a ski town and that's no ok when many will be rising early the next morning to catch the best snow. The hotel could do a better job of monitoring the noise in the halls or posting signs asking guests to be mindful that they are not the only people sleeping in the hotel. Also we had to get our refrigerator disconnected because it made really loud sounds. Aside from this the hotel is solid.
Pretty standard place to stay in Ketchum. Efficient and friendly staff, clean room, very good facilities, close to River Run lift area of Bald Mountain. Cannot imagine needing anything more for a stay in this town. Not much else to add really, this place will not disappoint.
Nice hotel, great location right at the beginning of town, walk to restaurants and the Village Market for food items. Lodgey feel and older décor, but Very very clean. Beds were fine. Spacious rooms. Love the little kitchens in room 219. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Still need to rent a car to go skiing though. A bit noisy due to construction next door. Try to get a room on top floor to avoid hearing people in there ski boots the night above you!
We enjoyed 6 nights at the Kentwood. The location is in the town of Ketchum within walking distance to excellent restaurants and shops. Although some of the furnishings are outdated, the hotel is very, very clean. We got to know Christina from the front desk. I really think she owns the place! She was always helpful, friendly and very knowledgable about various things to do and restaurants. Wrap City is right next door and as part of our stay, we received coupons for a free breakfast wrap. Excellent food and so convenient. The parking garage kept the car a bit warmer than it being parked on the road.
Will definitely stay again if we get back to Ketchum. The room was lovely, everything was clean and fresh. Loved the fireplace. The location was perfect, so much was within walking distance.Staff was great. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Best Western, Kentwood Lodge, Ketchum, Idaho, October 13 to 16, 2017 The Best Western is located on South Main Street, almost at the beginning where Ketchum begins. It is a very nice Hotel, in the Lobby you have a huge “ Moosehead “ mounted on the wall, very impressive… the Hotel resembles a ski lodge and has a nice lobby as well. ( Ski Lodge type look ) We were greeted by a very pleasant and accommodating lady by the name of “ Vickie “ , she is very helpful and will answer all your questions. We were accommodated in room 107 , it is a very large room with a King Size Bed with clean bedlinen .There is also an iron with an ironing board. We slept well here. The room has ample closet space, stocked with extra blankets, a microwave oven, Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, a large flat TV screen by LG, an electric fire place, there is a table in the corner with two chairs which you also use as a desk. This area needs more lighting . In the bathroom, there is a shower, hairdryer clean bath towels , a sink. The bathroom itself is large. The Hotel also has an indoor pool with a Jacuzzi and an exercise room. Good parking is available at the Hotel as well. Since the Hotel has an Alpine design with balconies I wish the management would place some flower boxes around them, just as they do in Germany, Austria etc. Be sure to visit the “ Sawtooth Mountain “ range , it is a very scenic drive to the small town of “ Stanley “ which has only 90 people in residence, here you enjoy great scenery next to the Salmon River and the town still has a WESTERN feeling. Unfortunately there are not to many buildings left with a “ Western style Front “ in Ketchum, what a shame. Sun Valley the upscale Ski Resort is just 1 mile away from the Hotel., do visit it, very charming. Close to the Hotel you have a large Super Market. We were very pleased with our accommodations and stay here. We highly recommend staying at the Best Western , Kentwood Lodge .
really nice place, reasonable rates and very good people running the place. In the best location in Ketchum, within walking distance of all the best places downtown. Would return for sure. Ketchum is a great place to go anytime, since there is world class fishing, horse riding and trout fishing. Very unique and real town, not a phony like many ski resort villages in the USA. Really outta the way in Idaho, but oh what a scenic ride for Boise. Go visit and enjoy.
This is an absolute and if you - as did we - judge a place by the people tasked with making you (our) stay wonderful, this is it for you, as it was for us. The front desk staff were wonderful; every question answered, check-in, check-out was flawless. Overall a great crew! You'll love it, plus it is in the heart of Ketchum and that makes walking around so much easier.
Perfect spot for a weekend getaway. Best nights sleep I have had in a while! I will definitely be returning to this hotel anytime I am in the area. Thank you for the great service. Five stars from me.
We stay at a lot of hotels a year as I travel for work. This hotel was AMAZING. Well-priced, perfect location, clean, safe. The pool area was so clean and newer. The rooms were huge, and the beds..OMG so comfy...The staff was also just as great. We will for sure be back
Great location for the Jazz Festival in town. Delicious breakfast at restaurant next door (with voucher). Room was comfortable and very large for the value. Had many extra in-room features that were appreciated. Would recommend to all.
this hotel was poorly staffed - front deck often no one there - had to call a number to get someone, and when wanted to check out - sign said -back in awhile. We wanted to be on the road, since we had over 500 miles to drive. one of the luggage carts was broken and we almost dumped it, found several outlets broken in our room, which we report that 1st evening- couldn't fix for 3 days, so they had us move to another room, but did not help. We had a lot to move since we did not want to leave anything in the car. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated
After staying in mega-chain hotels for a few nights, as soon as we entered the lobby of this hotel my wife & I were treated to a place with decor that simply felt "warm" and Western. What's more, when we got to our reserved room (going down hallways that carried the same Western motif) we were soooo pleased with the decor and attributes of the room. We didn't need to use the electric fireplace - or the beautiful, sumptious Western blankets - on this mile September evening, but just having them in the room added to the "feel" of the place. OH! And a fresh-air BONUS! The windows slide OPEN if you want fresh air! How unique among today's hotel establishments! The hotel is in a very good location. When I asked about a good place to eat, we were directed to the historic Pioneer Saloon, just 2 1/2 block away. Many shops and other eateries are within easy walking distance. An added bonus were the $ 5 vouchers for discounts for breakfast at WrapCity next door.
My stay at The Best Western Kentwood Lodge in Ketchum, ID was just great. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are rustic cute with all the amenities, and the location right on Main Street is perfect for walking everywhere in town.
The lodge's location was perfect for our visit to Ketchum. It was quiet and close to town without being downtown. The room was clean and spacious. We travel with a service dog. The lodge staff was very accommodating and provided for all our needs.
excellent price for all you get. conveniently located. excellent service.. the matress were just perfect for me.The size of the bathroom pretty large. Very caring and helpful staff. Fast check in and out.
My friend and I were on a Thelma and Louise road trip and chose the Kentwood Lodge for the night while we were in Ketchum. Check-in was nearly effortless, and we received a very large room with two queen beds, fireplace, large bathroom and seating area, all with views of the mountains. We only spent the night, but we felt we got great value for the large room we received. The hotel was clean and kept with the theme of being in Idaho with the southwest style going on. We would definitely book again when in Ketchum.
The hotel was clean, beautiful and well managed. The staff was amazing. I wish there was a continental breakfast but other than that it was great. I would stay here again. Sun Valley is a beautiful resort town with lots to do outside and the hotel represents that.
Very convenient location. Given how much it costs to stay in this very expensive area, Best Western proved to be the best choice. I would suggest a room off Main St. (chose the back side) there is a constant stream of traffic - (workers coming and going, morning and evening).
We enjoyed our stay at Ketchum BW Kentwood Lodge. Pros: Location: Ketchum is a lovely town with lots to do, and this hotel was perfectly located to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We walked late at night to the hotel with no worries. Staff: Warm welcome, Friendly, responsive and helpful to every question. Brownies: Every evening they put out little brownie bites that were delicious! Breakfast: No breakfast bar, but gave us $5 coupons for Wrapcity, next door, that had a decent looking breakfast menu. The breakfast places in town were fantastic, so we did not use this benefit, but at least it was offered. Cons: Tight parking in parking lot. We got the last spot we could find, and fortunately because we walked most places, did not need to worry about going out and finding a spot when we returned. Towels: Threadbare towels. This is one area that i rate the hotels I visit, and our towels didn't have much life left in them. I'd recommend this hotel as a good value and great location, and would certainly stay here again.
Nice, clean and comfortable accommodations and only a few blocks to downtown Ketchum and its attractions. I have stayed here multiple times over the years and have never been disapointed. Rooms are large and have refrigerators, microwaves and a sink - some even have a gas fireplace. An inddor swimiing pool, spa and weight room always seem to be a hit with the kids / skiers. Vicki at the front desk has been a mainstay at the property here and is wonderfully accommodating and kind. A breakfast coupon for Wrap City (which is located within 100 feet of the hotel) is normally included and offers a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches and wraps.
Ketchum was one stop for us on our road trip. We chose the BW Plus Kentwood Lodge based on other reviews on TA. We had a similar experience to those who have already reviewed. The staff was polite and professional; the place appeared very clean. Our room was rather spacious and the bed comfortable. It is within walking distance of much of the downtown area. If we were planning to be in this area again, I would chose to stay here.
I would highly recommend this hotel as the room was one of the nicest and largest we have ever been in. Wifi worked well and for the price in that area a bargain. Close to the center of town a two minute walk and you are there. The parking was in an enclosed area which was very nice.
Our room at this hotel was wonderful. It was a very large space with a king bed, good lighting, a Keurig coffee maker, balcony with table and chairs, a jetted tub, and was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location is very central, yet the room was quiet and we did not hear any street noise. This is one of the nicest Best Western hotels we have visited.
Great location. Very clean and comfortable hotel. Walking distance to everything. A little pricey but I guess that's Sun Valley. Staff was friendly. Bedding was comfortable. Indoor pool and hot tub was nice. No continental breakfast was a bummer at $200 a night.
We stay at this hotel whenever we are in Ketchum. We were disappointed that a new hotel across the street ruined the view of the mountains, but that didn't change the quality of the Best Western in Ketchum. Try it, I think you will like it..
We came up to Sun Valley for a wedding. Unfortunately for the maids we were going in and out of our rooms all day long. They were very accommodating by cleaning the rooms when we were gone for awhile, and always asked at what time they could clean the rooms.
Obviously everything in the Sun Valley is going up in price. This establishment is nice and conveniently located. The room was tidy. The bathroom was a bit small but that could have been our room. The porches are very small--you have to sit sideways. If you think you are going to get a view of the ski mountain, you will NOT. A huge, modern hotel has been built across the street, blocking the hill. Watch the tiered pricing--we thought we paid for breakfast in the morning but apparently no--we were handed a coupon for $5 off breakfast at the adjacent restaurant which did not open until 8. Nice but late for us. In sum, nice but expensive for what we ended up getting.
The Best Western Kentwood is a very nice hotel located within walking distance of the business district of Ketchum. I decided to stay here for a recent weekend getaway. Check-in was painless and the staff was friendly and helpful about what to see and experience in the area. The hotel has a nice jacuzzi and indoor pool area that hit the spot after a long day. They also have a fitness area. They also have an outdoor meeting area, but it is adjacent to the parking lot. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom. The bed, I felt was comfortable, although my wife wasn't fond of it. There was complimentary coffee / tea in the room. The air conditioning / room temperatures worked great and there was a nice balcony overlooking the main drag. Room noise was minimal and I actually slept quite well. The room was pricey, about $150 a night for a Saturday and Sunday night. Granted everything in the area is expensive. I would stay here again. The room was clean and it was located on the edge of the business area, so you really didn't have to deal with too much commotion. I would certainly recommend staying here.
Like other reviewers there are some niggles. There is no bar or restaurant and the adjacent breakfast place indeed doesn't open til 8 and like many other travellers that's just too late. We were on the 3rd floor and our patio doors would also not lock. The big TV was fantastic and easy to see so perhaps our bed posts had indeed been sawn off! There is a very small gym that has seen better days but you are so close to the bike trail surely that's better to jog on rather than a machine! The rooms were clean and big, the bed comfortable, the water hot and until some morons at 02.45 decided that it was perfectly acceptable to shout and holler a great place to sleep. It's a few minutes walk into town so very well situated. You're not going to get a top notch experience but it worked for us!
Very, very nice. The hotel was very pretty and clean. The room décor was like nothing I'd seen in a long time. So very nice and comfy. We had requested lower level (there were 12 motorcycles/13 people). They had m/c parking in the garage which worked out totally awesome for all of us. Our room was about 3-4 doors down when we walked in from the garage. The guys were thrilled with the pool and spa and the outdoor seating area that adjoined it where they could watch the pedestrians while they enjoyed their dips in the pool/spa and had their beers. The bed was quite comfortable and the room was very quiet. The only downside (if you want to call it that) is that upon check in we each were give a $5 voucher to use towards breakfast in their restaurant. The problem is we were leaving at 7:00 AM – and I'm sure other travelers leave early to head on to their journey – and their restaurant didn't open until 8:00 AM, which in the 12-14 days we were gone was 1-2 hours later than most restaurants open for breakfast. What's up with that? Perhaps that's how they save money ($65 for all of us)!
Me and my wife stopped here during a road trip. First the good points: Staff were friendly and helpful The room had a nice little balcony for sitting on The bed was comfortable Nice new tv's Easy parking Air conditioning works fine Not so good: You can't see the lovely new TV from bed. The bedpost at the bottom of the bed obstructs it (see photo). You can't move the tv it's stuck down. You can't move the unit the tv is on as it weighs a ton (trust me I tried). We are on a long trip and wanted a night in to relax. Not so good when you can't see the tv. Breakfast is at an attached cafe (if you pay for it). We looked in but it seemed gloomy and not very clean. We walked to the supermarket instead. Also the cafe doesn't open until 8. Not great if you're trying for an early start. In general the decor is tired and old fashioned. The room felt quite dark and not very cheerful. Our patio window wouldn't lock. Probably not a problem on the second floor but it should be fixed. Overall Ketchum is a lovely place and not a cheap place to find a room. However we didn't think this place represented good value. P. S. Diy tip. Saw off the end of the bedposts. They don't support anything then you could see the tv!
Every time we are in Ketchum we stay here. This is a great place to stay. Kids love the pool when we bring them. As a Best Western this is one of the best. Within easy walking distance to lots of food, and other shopping places.
this is the best hotel to stay in while you are in the sun valley area... the rooms are big and comfortable, beautiful design, the appliances are modern and esp the refrigerator is quiet! we have been in some that we would have to unplug the refrigerator at night because it was so noisy! the indoor pool and hot tub are super nice! the staff is very accommodating and friendly! it is so close to sun valley, and the best value around!
Stayed in rm on 2nd flr (202?) end unit which was bigger than standard rm because it has a sitting area & 2 windows for more natural light. We stayed in early June (after a bike race) so I don't think the hotel was full.
Location, services, cleanliness, parking, value received and comfort all excellent. Proximity to skiing, mountaineering, restaurants, central Ketchum shopping and cafe's all excellent. Better yet décor is very understated but blends well with the mountain west setting - a great contrast to the newest hotel of glitz and glamor just erected across the street.
Please check the attached restrurant Wrap City the hotel links with and sends it patrons..Very Poor...we are VERY traveled have just returned from Athens, before that interior of Mexico to he Copper Canyon, and before that this year Switzerland!
this is a very nice hotel with nice rooms. convenient location. very nice staff. will defiantly stay again. it is walking distance to down town and restaurants and shopping. I can not say enough about this h9tel and the location.
We had excellent service and beautiful accommodations! Excellent value! They offered us the honeymoon suite with a fireplace. We were taken excellent care of by the staff. Beautiful views from our room!
Hotel is nice and staff are friendly. They glady accepted the packages we sent out a week in advance and held until our arrival. The beds are comftorable with plenty of accommodations. Bathroom could be a little bigger. Gym is a little small but has everything you need. Will continue to stay here.
We visit Ketchum twice a year and always make a point of staying at the BW Kentwood Lodge. Its room are comfortable, its pool and spa are inviting, and there's a good informal breakfast (and great coffee) available next door at Wrap City. A movie theater and countless galleries and restaurants are within easy walking distance. All in all it's everything we need or want in Ketchum.
Reeked of pot, not a family friendly stay, hotel staff just did not give a crap that second floor hallway reeked of marijuana, too much chlorine in pool, charge on card did not match what I was told charge would be
I recently went to the hotel, it appeared to be manageable so I decided to upgrade to be nicest room in the house. It was a little bit disappointing. The Decour was strangely Native American in nature, it did have a jet tub in the room and a fireplace. It also did have two balconies, which came in handy since the hotel across the street decided to completely ruin the view of the mountain by building a five story hotel in the way. The staff was fine, room was clean, but there wasn't a whole lot of going above and beyond that is common in a highly tourist driven town. The biggest thing that surprised me was that they offer a breakfast right on their website but they do not have breakfast. Also, if you do not want to take the 9:15 bus to the mountain, you will be walking 4 to 5 blocks away to catch the silver line or the redline which pick up every 10 minutes or so.
Always the best, the staff is so helpful (Vickie and Gabby, the best), location nothing better! We like it better than the new Limelight across the street, Kentwood rooms has more character, and its a smaller hotel so I think better service
The staff at this hotel is great. We had a small issue and to resolve it they kindly upgraded our room. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are spacious. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub after skiing and the vouchers for breakfast next door. It is close to everything, has plenty of parking, and is a great option.
We have stayed here often over the last five or so years, and have found each and every experience delightful. the rooms a re clean, the hotel is wonderfully cared for and staffed. Located perfectly in Downtown Ketchum, you can park your car once you get there, and never drive again to see any of the in town attractions. excellent dining opportune ties or locally owned shops.
The check in was a breeze and the ladies at the front desk were friendly. The room was clean and welcoming. The bed is amazingly comfy. And for being a "Lodge" it wasn't overly cheesy, it was decorated tastefully. Would definitely stay again.
This hotel property will put you in the right mood while staying in Ketchum. Motif is perfect for the Sun Valley/Ketchum area and delivers on your expectations of an outdoor feeling. The exterior is log/stone and my room was furnished in beautiful log furniture. Plus . . . this property was within waling distance of the Ketchum downtown area and the Pioneer Saloon for drinks and dinner.
My husband occasionally has business at the local hospital, and this is his preferred place to stay because of its proximity to shops and restaurants. A major flaw that we have not experienced elsewhere: NO hot chocolate for the non-coffee drinkers. Really? NONE?? The tiniest place we've ever stayed, in the tiniest of towns, have had hot chocolate available for their patrons. And not even an "I'm sorry" from the staff. Too bad. This might be our last time here.
I recently hosted a small group in Ketchum and we all stayed at the Best Western Plus Kentwood Lodge. Cindy and her team were easy to work with. Accommodating and providing great customer service. The rooms were clean and it was great to have the sink, microwave and fridge. Bathrooms spotless. I had no complaints from my guests and they all enjoyed their hot breakfast from Wrap City - a great initiative between the two businesses.
I called in advance of arrival to make sure our "Max" would not be a problem, the Kentwood front desk/reservation was very helpful in making the necessary arrangements for a first floor easy access room for us. (Thank You, sir) Room was close to front desk, easy access, parking, clean, comfortable, king size bed (as requested) nice place. we will stay again, the breakfast room is actually a restaurant (kind of) attached to Kentwood Lodge, and has very good "wraps" we were given a voucher
This was a very nice and clean place . We booked last minute through Expedia. Said it was last room available for $214. When we arrived the sign said they had vacancies. We ended up in a handicap room but it was nice and very clean.
What a lovely place to stay in Ketchum! I booked this hotel online and got an immediate confirmation notice emailed to me. When we arrived earlier than the check-in time, the desk clerk Cindy indicated the room wasn't ready yet, but we completed the paperwork and at her suggestion parked in the under cover parking lot with a space near the door and elevator. After wandering around Ketchum and shopping for a bit, we returned and got our keys and went to our room. Great room! End unit with windows on two walls, one a sliding door onto a small balcony with chairs overlooking the mountains. Perfect for cocktails and snacks. The room looks brand new and is nicely furnished with a King Bed, couch, computer work table, a chest of drawers and a bench for luggage. There is a little bar with a fridge, microwave, bar sink and a Keurig single cup coffeemaker. Bathroom and amenities are great, and towels and linens high quality. Everything was clean and quality made. It wasn't a big issue, but the TV remote didn't seem to work. It had me flummoxed and I called the front desk to let them know and to see if maybe I was doing something wrong. They indicated they had just converted to new cable system and TVs and maybe it wasn't hooked up correctly. They indicated maintenance would be right up. 15” later Kent came in and found out the problem in short order. The nice wooden TV stand was blocking the transmission of the remote to the cable box. He was very friendly and we had a nice time talking with him. We told him we were from Green Bay WI and the nice desk clerk had mentioned she has a sister living there. He said “I know, because she's my sister-in-law and the desk clerk is my wife and we actually own this hotel.” Talk about hands-on management! We used the hot tub after dinner and the whole pool area was spotless with towels provided. There is a great little restaurant attached to the hotel, Wrapcity, and we were given $5 vouchers towards breakfast. Everything in town is within walking distance. I highly recommend this lovely place, The Kentwood Inn, for your stay. I know we were here in off season, but it was very quiet in our area and I would be very comfortable staying in this space for a longer period of time than our two nights. Thanks Kent and Cindy!
I have stayed here many times over the course of 15 years. The Lodge is always immaculate and the rooms are always up to date. Great attitude and impeccable cleanliness. The lodge is located in an excellent location and everything is within walking distance.
If you want a wonderful, large hotel room with fireplace that's centrally located in Sun Valley...Kentwood Lodge is perfect! The rooms have a small refrigerator, comfortable bed and ample bathroom. Love the fireplace in every room!
Clean, Very comfortable bed, great location, swimming pool open until 11 pm. Quiet too. Excellent accommodations. Marilyn 9-16 Wagon Days Weekend in Ketchum. Located in the best spot in Ketchum, close to everything. We didn't even rent a car this time.
This hotel is within walking distance of the entire town. We loved the convenience. The staff was super nice and facility very clean. The fun supersize was a huge heart shaped jacuzzi tub in the room. Lol! It is definitely well priced for what you receive
Good value for the money, Cheaper than other hotels in the area, Staff was very accommodating. Some construction dust from project across the street. Great place to eat breakfast at the wrap shop in the hotel.
This place is locat ed near the south end of ketchum right off main St. Rooms are xvery comfortable decorated in a western motif..but tastefully. The place is dated but very lean and furnished well in a spacious room. Price wise it is probably the best we a l in a way overpriced area. Only negative is no breakfast items.
The Best Western in Ketchum was recommended to us by friends as a relatively inexpensive option for accommodations down town. Our friends were spot on as the weekend we stayed there comparable rates were at least 50% higher than the price we found at the BW. We weren't sure what we were getting into, frankly, with prices this much lower. The location is right on Main Street and we were greeted by a very knowledgable hostess named Vicki. She checked us in without a fuss and even moved us to the second floor at our request. The lobby is rustic but organized and very clean. There is an indoor pool with two floating duck decoys for fun. The "gym" is very full of decent equipment but has very little floor space and feels quite cramped. There is an elevator and a clean, carpeted stairway for access to upper levels. Our room came with a king bed and was surprisingly large and extremely clean. It was furnished with a large bench, two sitting chairs with a coffee table, a sink and counter as the coffee station and the generic refrigerator. Bed side tables, a TV and dresser rounded out the room. The closet was roomy and tub/shower worked well. Overall a decent room. We had a window that faced the back parking lot and did not experience any road noise at night. The walls are a but thin and we could hear any conversation taking place in the hallway, so we would recommend ear plugs which we normally bring on trips. The bed was so so. Firm but not very comfortable. We stayed two nights and didn't sleep well either night. When one of us moved the other woke up. Definitely not a premium mattress, but good enough for a night or two. Location wise this is a gem. We walked to restaurants, the Lodge, shopping, and even to some hiking trails. If you're walkers and don't mind ear plugs and perhaps taking a double queen option, this hotel could be a very good solution for you. We would consider staying here again in the future.
We stayed in a 2nd floor room on the opposite end of the registration area. Our room was quiet and comfortable. While the hotel is a bit dated, it was clean and a great location to walk to downtown or other activities in the Sun Valley area. We also enjoyed the nice selection at breakfast -- fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. which were beyond the traditional unhealthy fare offered at many hotel buffets.
Overall, this is a great hotel -- as long as you don't need wifi. The staff was no help, suggesting it was probably our device & not a problem on their end. I have 2 cell phones (1 android & 1 iPhone), an iPad, a Windows laptop, & a Mac laptop. None could connect to the wifi. When I went to the front desk there were 3 other people complaining about the same problem. We were told to "try turning your phone off & on, move around the room to try & find a better spot, or come down to the lobby & try there." I tried all of those things & none of them worked. Of course, I can use my cell phone but sometimes, even if your on vacation, you need to do something more complex and it requires connecting to wifi on your laptop. If you're here on business, it might be essential. For me, this is a deal breaker. I probably won't stay here again & I won't recommend it to others. That said, everything else about this hotel is great. Quiet, nice rooms with modern amenities, convenient covered parking, indoor swimming pool, breakfast place right next door (they give you a voucher), excellent housekeeping. The only thing lacking is wifi & for me, that is an essential. If I'd known the wifi didn't work I would not have stayed here. So, 5 out of 5 if you don't need wifi. Otherwise, consider staying somewhere else.
While not a fan of Best Western properties (we used to call'm Worst Western), I've got a soft spot for the Kentwood. When Sun Valley is in your plans but you don't want or need the upscale appointments of the resort proper, the Kentwood offers a great location, good value and professional front-desk service. Once settled in, you can walk or ride your bike all over town and leave your SUV parked for days. After all, it's just short run up to the Resort. Built in the early 90's, the Kentwood is long overdue for the inevitable freshening. A casual chat with one of the hotel's loyal long-time jack-of-all-trades guys just prior to our departure, however, gives me hope that the owner has slowly realized that Sun Valley visitors like a bit of class even in a national-brand inn. It took the Kentwood forever to jump from big-tube to flat-screen TVs. Now all it needs to do is to trash that fuzzy pre-digital picture for HD. Our guy says it's coming. The new card-reader door openers are a nice upgrade…bathrooms have been freshened a bit, too. The thermostat-controlled in-room HVAC unit is QUIET and the rooms are clean. But the common areas really need some TLC, particularly hallway carpets. The elevator continues to run at glacial speed. The half-hearted attempt to inject a Native American theme on the walls should be…well…evaluated, to put it nicely. Still, a decent stay, all things considered.
leaky faucet that was never repaired, lipstick stains on the bath towels, no water pressure in the shower, and poor front desk service. The covered parking limits you to not more that a dozen spots that are very tight for anything over the size of a small SUV. For the $269.00 per night price I'm sure you could find a much better hotel for the money.
I stay here every year and every year it is very nice. They recently updated their bathrooms, which was a nice surprise. I come for business and you can walk everywhere in town and I am also able to work in my room nicely. Will be there again next year.
This hotel just gets better. New Keurig coffee makers in the rooms and new "touch" door locks. New hotels being built in Ketchum where you will be able to stay for much more of your dollars, but if you want to feel like family, the Kentwood is the place to stay. Great People!
Just back from a three night stay in Sun Valley. The BW Kentwood Lodge was great. I don't come to SV often and have stayed at the SV Lodge the last two visits. For this trip I looked to stay downtown and save some $$$s. The Kentwood Lodge was fine. It was clean. Staff was friendly. WiFi was free and worked well. I read earlier reviews and there was a few grumblings on the breakfast coupon for WrapCity next door. I had no problems here - the coupon covered breakfast and coffee fine... Also it is downtown and an easy walk to your favourite restaurant, bar, or shop. Will stay again.
The staff were helpful and got me checked in efficiently and gave good eating recommendations. The room and bathroom was large and well laid out with very nice furnishings. Everything was very clean, the bed was large and the pillows and mattress comfortable. The wifi worked well, no problems. Would definitely stay here again.
Stay somewhere else. The only convenient place to have breakfast wasn't good. You stood in line and gave them a chit. then waited, or you phoned in and picked up a burrito. - that's it. Easier at other BW hotels.
Great location, could walk to shops, restaurants and pick up groceries. Our room had two comfy queen beds, large TV, full refrigerator, microwave and plenty of room to unwind. After hiking all day, the lobby heated pool and spa was heavenly with a view of outside trees and flowers. Our room was cleaned to perfection each day. Will probably stay there for the Oct. Jazz fest. Definitely good value for the money.
I like Best Westerns because each one is unique, not the cookie-cutter layout. This property is decked out like a ski lodge, with the pool adjacent to the lobby which leads out to a small patio in the parking lot. (I could see parking getting tight in the high season). Only complaint about the room was the bathroom lighting was waaaaay too bright for a middle-of-the-night potty break. They had I believe four 100-watt equivalent LED lamps. You could have done neurosurgery on the counter. Surprised to see complaints about the breakfast -- I didn't even expect any. It was a nice bonus! Wrap City is attached to the hotel, out on the street. The $5 will almost cover a bacon, eggs and toast breakfast...and they will put it on a plate if you don't want a wrap. If you just want coffee or a bagel, they have that too. Only complaint is they don't open until 8. We ended up spending two bucks and change for a party of 4 after the coupons and the quality of the food exceeded most breakfast buffets. There's a supermarket next door and the hotel is walking distance to everything in Ketchum. They even have crosswalk flags!
This hotel is right on Main St. as you come into Ketchum from the south. The rooms were roomy and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room had a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and an additional sink. The decor was attractive. We would definitely stay here again. They do give a $5.00 coupon to a wrap restaurant right next door, but we didn't bother using that since we love having breakfast at the Kneadery just a block away.
Overall a great experience. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a small but useable balcony, fridge and wet bar, and coffee. Nice pool and hot tub and you can store your ski's or bikes indoors if you like. There is a new hotel going up across the street that blocks the view of the ski slopes but if you get out and walk a half block you can see the runs. The front desk staff wasn't all that friendly but no issues with the service. Very convenient location.
I went here over Memorial Day Weekend. The hotel is very clean and the location is perfect to walk around town so you can keep your car parked for the stay. All of the staff is extremely friendly. My one complaint would be the noise. I could hear my neighbors through the wall and noise in the hallway. I am going back to this hotel though because of the staff, the cleanliness and the location.
The room was very impressively clean, coffee in the lobby was the best, and everything was literally in walking distance of our hotel. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Just one thing only stopping this hotel from it's five star rating "Breakfast". We booked a room with breakfast, our hotel offer two each $15 dollar coupons per person total of $60 dollars for our two day stay(the coupons are also good for lunch). Next to the hotel is a place called 'THE CITY WRAP' were breakfast or lunch is offer on limited menu in a Wrap or Bowl your choice. Anyway not to belittle the place, but we found a excellent place for breakfast called the "KONDITOREI", Cafe with European dessert, Coffee, Tea, and Breakfast menu. So don't pass it up or you'll leave Sun Valley wanting.
We prefer Best Western because of the bed quality and the king bed here did not disappoint us. Nice hotel well appointed with a pool and exercise room . Staff very pleasant and helpful with suggestions for things to do in the immediate area.
How Best Western attaches it's name to this place I don't know. Upon check in we were greeted with an unfriendly face who seemed to resent working there. The table in the room did not have a nearby electrical outlet that a person could use for charging his computer battery ( I guess we should have asked for an extension cord ), the furniture & room were just plain " tired ". The building is old. The place is beyond remodeling and should be torn down. For the " free " breakfast you're given a $ 5 voucher to go to a dumpy adjacent public restaurant whose sanitary standards are observably poor. We chose not to eat there for that reason...... and anyway, no way is $ 5 sufficient these days for a breakfast.
The hotel is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff is awesome. Very helpful. The conference room we used for the business conference was clean, comfortable, had all of the necessary equipment and was secure. The BW Kentwood Lodge is reasonably priced and is in a very convenient location. I highly recommend it.
We have enjoyed this hotel in Ketchum. The management and ownership is excellent. This hotel has one thing in mind.....that is to make your stay in Ketchum comfortable and enjoyable. The check-in is easy and they will give you the best deal available. The rooms are nicely furnished and most have decks. The people at desk are receptive to your needs. The breakfast coupons are great for the wrap place next door, that have the best food in town. Parking is under building and on-site and very safe. Book this hotel and enjoy Ketchum.....
Had an outstanding time at BW Plus Kentwood Lodge in Ketchum. Perfect location, clean rooms, upbeat and positive staff and very relaxing. Central location for recreation, dining out and walking though town and area. Definitely the place to staff when visiting the Sun Valley area.
Wonderful hotel, staff are wonderful, very accommodating! Courteous, pleasant. Hotel is very clean, great location and convenient, you can walk every where downtown. Easy to find , right on Main Street Clean rooms, clean lobby.
Loved this place ...clean, friendly all the things you want after a day travelling ...The rooms were lovely and the staff was great. Close to walk into town which was a bonus ...only a 5 dollar breakfast coupon versus the great breakfasts you usually get at a best western but I would still highly recommend this hotel
Great place in downtown Ketchum. Easy walk to everything. Friendly staff and clean rooms.I will stay here every time i come to ketchum. Indoor pool and jacuuzi a plus. definitly try wrapcity when you are there for breakfast.
Checked into the hotel and the staff was very nice. After climbing 3 floors of stairs my room was very nice. I rated this poorly because the bed was not good. That was the toughest bed that I have ever slept on and I travel a great deal. I was given a ticket to walk to a restaurant for breakfast. I would never stay here again, because I just want a hot breakfast at the hotel.
Accompanied my wife to her seminar. 3 nights here. Great room with 2 queens, large sitting area, large full, equipped kitchen. Separate bath sink and counter as well as bathroom. Shower was great, beds comfortable. Pool and jacuzzi and adequate fitness room. Get this, $139 per night with $10 breakfast voucher to Wrap City next door. Convenient on Main St.. Plenty of parking. I will recommend to everyone!!!!
Our first stay at this Lodge was in 1998 and since then, it has become a regular Ketchum stop. Best thing about it is that nothing has changed - it looked as pristine in April 2016 as it did in May 1998. Located at the south end of Ketchum's Main Street, one can walk to most everything Ketchum has to offer and you are a short, five minute, drive from the Sun Valley Resort grounds.
Well positioned hotel a few blocks from the town. Bright lobby, efficient receptionists, rooms an average size, with options of fireplaces or kitchenettes ( not sure why you can't have both). Nice , thoughtful decorative touches, both in the common areas and rooms, which are a change from the generic. No breakfast offered. Currently, a new hotel is being built across the street in the front of the hotel so, for the next three or four months, I would avoid front rooms, as the work starts about 7.30am. There is also a constant hum in the top floor of the hotel, which is odd and unusual, and runs all the time. The place has a pool and a small gym. I am not sure why it is a Best Western "plus"... It seems pretty standard ( a good standard, though ), and I would like to know how BW differentiate between their "standard hotels" and their "plus" hotels
Stayed here in January to extend a business trip into a ski trip due to the location in Ketchum right across from Sun Valley / Mount Baldy. It was a perfect location less than 5 minutes to the mountain resort (which is simply awesome!) and on the edge of the village an easy walk to a lot of restaurants, bars and shops. It was a nice looking hotel w/ a Western motif. I would say it is a solid *** establishment true to its Best Western roots, maybe a bit nicer than most BW hotels (I don't know I've only stayed in 3 total) and comfy but certainly wasn't high end but was indeed solid. The room was nice and again decorated in a Western style w/ wood furniture, a balcony overlooking the mountain and had a comfy bed. It had an indoor pool and a hot tub that got fairly hot, which was nice after a long day on the mountain. The front desk staff was friendly and gave me good advice about eating at the "Pio." The one thing it could have used was a better coffee bar in the lobby with real half/half or cream as a better way to start your day. But all in all it was a good place and I would stay here again for a return ski trip.
The perfect location for every convenience. We walked around to all the shops and restaurants from the hotel. It was great to get dressed for skiing inside of our room and then get shuttled to the ski area by the town transit buses. I also loved the indoor pool and jacuzzi! The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable!
I was moving from Denver to Seattle and stayed in Ketchum for two nights so I could ski at Sun Valley and check out the town. The Kentwood Best Western is right across the street from the bus that takes you to the ski area. It's also walking distance to some great restaurants and I even caught a concert at Whiskey Jacques one night. The pool and hottub are nice and the $5. coupon at Wrapcity made breakfast close to free. On it's own, the $150 per night doesn't seem like a great value, but compared to the other lodging options I found, I certainly can't complain. In addition to the fireplace, there was also a refrigerator and extra sink in the room.
close to everything, This is a clean rustic hotel. Approx. 20 plus years old. Nice room with gas fireplace. Heated indoor pool/hot tub. I would stay here again. Hotel staff is friendly professional and accomidating
Nice accommodations, friendly staff. Room was clean and orderly. Shower pressure was light and you could hear people chatting in the hallway as they pass by, but other than that no complaints. Breakfast at Wrap City was good.
This hotel is located right on Main Street in Ketchum, making it very easy to walk to all locations in downtown. The hotel itself is very decent with clean rooms and pleasant staff. The facility is pretty basic but clean and convenient. It's not super cheap but nothing really is in Sun Valley - comparatively, the BW Kentwood was a good value.
A very comfortable hotel in an ideal location. Very Good Value. Shuttle bus stop 2 blocks away to lift area and easy walk to shops and restaurants in town. The breakfast next door (with coupon from Best Western) was cooked to order and satisfying.
This place is not the Ritz, but was exactly what we wanted. Clean room, decent bed, good pool/hot tub, efficient daily maid service, fair price. Perfect in town location, convenient parking and ski storage. Walk to numerous restaurants and grocery. Daily coupons for Wrap City worked out great. Since they don't open until 8, we would stop after skiing and pick up a bagel, fruit, muffin, cookies for next morning breakfast.
We stayed here for a weekend of skiing and found this is a very convenient place to stay. Free parking is available and it's a short drive to the slopes or if you prefer you can take the shuttle bus that picks up right across the street. After a day of skiing we relaxed in the hot tub and got cozy in our room with a fireplace. Downtown shopping and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel.
Good overall for family. Good size pool and hot tub. Easy drive to ski mountain. In town so easy walk to restaurants. Large room. Comfortable beds. We opted for the kitchenette which was helpful for a longer stay. Decent size bathroom. Room was quiet, mostly free of exterior noise. available washer/dryer helpful for longer stays
Just back from a fantastic trip to Ketchum, first visit to Idaho and loved it. Hotel was in a very good location, handy for skiing and great restaurants in the town. The room was spacious with good facilities and an extremely comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water and nice white fluffy towels. Very special thank you to Vicki and Gabi in guest services. They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly and helped to make our stay very special. We would definitely return to this hotel if we make the 6,000 mile journey from the UK again. Also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub (as it was a winter trip) and would have used the gym if we hadn't used up all our energy on the ski slopes. Thank you again!
Very clean hotel with a helpful and polite staff at a good price versus other ski towns in the center of Ketchum within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Bus stop across the street to take you to either River Run or Warm Springs base lodges.
We came here on a family trip before mama had to have back surgery so it was like the last hooray! We really enjoyed our stay here and were pleased with the service and help that we received from the staff.
It's a Best Western not Westin but I highly recommend it. At about $200 per night I think it's the most affordable place in Sun Valley. It's clean, has pool and jacuzzi plus exercise room, ski lockers and laundry. The manager CINDY is the best asset. She knows all about what's going on in town, had great suggestions for meals and things to do, but also turn me onto a discount lift ticket for the resort - a great asset for someone who visits for the first time. Location is perfect, walking distance to everything and 5 minute ride to the resort, just don't park on the street - local police will award you $50 ticket.
In the past we got a condo and walked to the lifts. We preferred catching a bus to the lifts maybe a mile away, but walking in the evening to a nearby restaurant. It was wonderful to be able to keep our car parked, then to use public transport when we liked. With a grocery store (and health food store) just a block away, and so many wonderful restaurants within a few blocks, it works for us! This hotel is clean, comfortable, and quiet. I recommend it!
Newly renovating. Nice interior but odor. For breakfast, we have to go to the restaurant next to the facility and we just have $5 reduction per person. The worst thing was the vibration in every morning. I couldn't stand for the strong vibration and machine like sound. I felt sick. It was like car sick. On the last day, I found that the room next to our room was the stuff laundry room. The big washing machine was there. No wonder why. The lady at the front desk told me she would report that to the manager. No word of apology or warmth.
Pretty basic motel. Rooms are nice, clean and staff generally attentive. I was expecting something more based on its prior ratings. Asked for some assistance a few times and just got what I asked for, no offers of real help, ie getting a ride to the airport. Room items replenishment was a little iffy. Sometimes lots of towels, other times the basics. Coffee service items inconsistent.
Other reviewers have told the story well: no frills but comfortable and clean. Close to River Run Lodge and within walking distance of "downtown Ketchem". They offer a $5 voucher for breakfast at the wrap restaurant located next door, which if you don't go for breakfast, you should try for a quick, healthy, cheap lunch.
We wanted to get a last minute trip in to ski Sun Valley. We book a double queen room. It was great - small sitting area and fridge and microwave really helped. It exceeded our expectations. The hotel was very close to a variety of restaurants and the heated pool and wonderful hot tub were great. We would stay here again.
My wife and I stayed 5 nights for four days of skiing. The room was comfortable and clean and the decor theme throughout the Lodge was pleasing. There should be more insulation between floors, because we often heard the people above us walking around at night. The fireplace in the room was nice and heated the room quickly. We will consider this same hotel for a future visit. The hotel is a good value. If you plan to stay out late at night, then plan to rent a car, because taxi service at times is lacking. Many very good restaurants are within walking distance. Hence, a rental car is not necessarily a requirement. Free town bus service was perfect for getting to the skiing and back to this hotel.
It's a solid 3 star, no frills hotel with comfortable beds and immaculate maid service. The owner and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and CLEAN! The location of the hotel is central to everything you need in town and conveniently located next to the Main Street Market which has a wonderful selection of foods for reasonable prices. One thing that could be improved is the bus system. No one in town seems to really understand the bus system and even with a schedule in hand we were left stranded multiple times. If all the hotels in the SV area got together and worked this out, that would make it amazing!
The location is on Main which is the perfect location to walk to resteraunts, shopping and blocks away from Bald Mountain skiing. Gorgeous mountain 63 runs, and long slopes. Ketchum is the town and very quaint and nice. The locals are very friendly. The hotel is nice, comfortable, under ground parking, nice jacuzzi, I liked the counter with sink and coffee station, refrigerator. The room was beautiful.
We actually tried to get a room at the Tamarack Lodge first, but they were full and suggested we try the Kentwood Lodge instead. Thankfully, they had an availability! We were given a room that was clean, nicely appointed and had a small balcony over-looking the town. They also offer free covered parking, which is so convenient. And there was a signed Remington bronze in the lobby, which impressed the heck out of us! We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel was in a great location in downtown Ketchum, We were greeted by the very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Our room was on the back side of the hotel, the room was very large, clean, and comfortable. Although there was construction, we never heard it, and the front desk staff made it clear that we should let them know if we were disturbed in any way and they would take care of it. A great value for the money! We will definitely be back!
Helpful staff, very clean, plenty of room, excellent bed/mattress and the nearby Wrap City restaurant served a very creative breakfast. When the construction is completed Kentwood in Ketchum will be ideal.
After checking Trip Advisor, we booked a room at the Kentwood Lodge as we were driving into Ketchum. We hit pay dirt! Downtown, easy walk to all the restaurants and shops - cannot get any better! The rooms are spacious and spotless, gas fireplace included. Staff was exceptional - so friendly and incredibly helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an extra day. Delicious (coupon included in room rate) breakfast at the Wrap next door. Free undercover parking.
Hotel was very nice, everyone was super friendly who worked there. The location is fantastic! Close to downtown and all the shopping and restaurants. I will highly recommend this hotel for travelers. I would definitely use this hotel again when staying in Ketchum.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff at the front desk and in housekeeping professional and friendly. Ease of parking was good, and the hotel is attractive. We found the breakfast voucher for $5 a real bother as we had to go outside of the hotel to a small wrap restaurant next door, and try to figure out how to use the voucher and get even coffee and oatmeal....forget OJ or any sort of eggs with $5 was a confusing, and not worth it as the food wasn`t that good any way. We saw several guests from the B.W. trying to figure out how to use their vouchers when they went into the little restaurant.....all more effort than it was worth. They should figure out some other way to provide breakfast fi it is supposedly included.
Love the location and friendly service at the Kentwood. The rooms on the main street side of hotel are loud due to road noise and construction but backside is better. Covered parking and nice lobby bathrooms and ski/bike storage is great!
Love it! Con - breakfast only included with "qualifying rates". Front desk explained, if you book through a third party your rate doesn't qualify. Lame-o! Pros - the rooms are very well kept. Every room has a mini fridge and microwave. ?? We had an awesome view, despite the crane. Indoor pool and hot tub. ?? Within walking distance to a lot of shops and places to eat.
Everyone was very friendly at check in and check out. The room was clean and comfortable and the location is walking distance to any where in Ketchum! We were offered $5.00 off at next door Wrap restaurant which was very good.
Great location...easy for walking around town and to restaurants. King bed and ample space for all the luggage. Regular coffee pot where I could brew my own coffee. Friendly and helpful staff. When in the area, would definitely stay at this location again.
Over the last three weeks I have stayed at the Best Western Plus Kentwood Lodge on two separate occasions. To begin with, the staff of this hotel are super friendly and top notch. They make it a pleasure to stay here. The hotel has a nice, large indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a workout room. The location can't be beat because you can walk to any shop or restaurant in town in just a few minutes. The rooms have a wonderful western decor, with different rugs and Native American style motifs. On my first visit I booked a basic king room. I was given a room downstairs across from the pool. The room was well appointed, having a microwave and mini fridge as well as a large counter top with a sink. This is in addition to the bathroom which has its own sink, etc. Some hotels I have stayed at will not have a bathroom sink if there is one outside the bathroom, but this was not the case. There was ample storage room (a large closet as well as dresser drawers) along with a table with two chairs and a nice, big flat screen TV. The bed was a beautiful king with a wood frame. It was extremely comfortable. The bed also has a large blanket folded up at the end which was a nice touch. This room was extremely quiet, comfortable and homey. Once caveat is that they seem to be skimpy on the towels. You get two bath towels, and they aren't that large. There is a tag you can leave on the door for special requests when they make up the room the following day. We requested an additional two towels. We received no extras, so I am not sure what the point is of having a special request tag if the request will be ignored. That is my only complaint as far as the service at this place. Everyone was stellar otherwise (and possibly this was overlooked by the maid and was a fluke). My girlfriend and I loved everything else about this room. Then we returned this last weekend. When booking, we saw that a fireplace king room was the same price as a normal room. We opted for the fireplace room as it sounded romantic. This room was on the second floor and the layout was the same as the normal king room except for a large fireplace in the corner. We read many reviews that said the fireplace was just a light bulb. This is NOT TRUE!!! You flip the switch and a bright light does appear to come on. At first I assumed the reviews were right, but the more I looked at it the more it seemed like it really didn't give the ambiance of a fireplace. Then, after about 10 seconds the flames lit. The "light bulb" is an igniter. We were quite pleased with the beautiful blue flames that flickered. Be aware though that the fireplace shuts off and automatically comes back on at random intervals (it must have some sort of thermostat or something). The room will definitely heat up nicely. Now for the negatives to a second floor room. I don't know if it was the location of this particular room or if the entire second floor is this way, but the noises were maddening. Every toilet flush. Every sink being turned on. And what I can only assume was a hot water heater (it sounded like a jet way up in the sky not moving, and it would last and last and last). The noises didn't really become apparent until about 7 am (and we had not spent a lot of time in our room the afternoon and evening before, so we had not noticed) and they continued until we finally just got out of bed. We contacted the front desk about moving to the room we had on the previous stay, but it was booked. The staff did try to find some better options for us, but other than a two queen room on the first floor they only had other rooms on the second or third floor. We decided to keep our room rather than move to another room on the same floor that would possibly have the same issues. Overall this hotel is wonderful. The noise thing was definitely not pleasant, and I have no idea if it was just the location of that room or if it occurs in other rooms along the second and third floors. All I know is that I will request my original room in the future because it was perfect. And on our second stay we happened upon the room as the maid was cleaning it and we did get our extra towels by asking her directly. I will definitely stay here in the future because overall it's a great value and a nice hotel. And all of the staff are amazing.
Pros: Location is great. Within walking distance of everything in Ketchum. Room was very clean. Breakfast coupons ($5 ea person) for Wrap City next door. Food was great and reasonable. $5 goes a long way. Cons: Basically, the rooms are decorated in an 80's lodge theme time warp, with furniture too large for the room. The fitness center had equipment out of the 70's and was so stuffed full of equipment that more than 2 people in the room would be overwhelming. Staff was efficient, but not very friendly.
