« Seems disorganised, food amazing! »

Booked 6 months ago when hotel was a different brand, was told 6 months later that my card had expired and room wasn't paid for. Then was called again to be told the same. Got there early and met lily who sorted everything and upgraded room. Room very hot, used air con but heating still on. Ate in the evening, good choice, great value for money. Mentioned the heat again but kept being told heating was off. 1 radiator off in room other boiling. Had to get ?handy man? in. Breakfast was lovely, good choice, fresh and hot. Asked at 1.30 for a sandwich, receptionist wasn't happy, explained I couldn't go till 6pm with no food. Told me to come back in 15 mins which I did. She told me she had asked the chef and she pulled a face. Menus all still out offering food. Could hear comments being made as they were all preparing for wedding, ( I was attending too but there were guests there that wasn't!) guests were confused as menus were still out. I offered to go to Asda but was told just to wait. Hotel prices were about average, food at reception was exceptional. Breakfast next morning not as good, as more people turning up... not offered toast or eggs like the day before. Came to check out and was told my room still hadn't been paid for (which it had!) tried to say I had room service and drinks on bill but they had the wrong room again. On the whole, great location, done the job.

« Lovely location, Unloved hotel. »

Arrived to be told that there were issues with the plumbing and advised not to drink the tap water. When we asked about dining we were told that the hotel was not serving food that evening. We had not been made aware of either of these issues in advance of our arrival. Room very tired and unloved. Cleaning of room and bathroom poor. Bed comfortable. The room that we occupied really needed a total overhaul.

    « Good staff »

Rooms within the main building could use a small upgrade and to sort out the staff area as this is not a very nice view. Staff were all lovely, Mary at breakfast and Lily on reception both very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

« Coach trip to Highclere Castle 28/29 March »

What a lovely hotel, staff very friendly can't do enough for you especially Kayleigh she was excellent. Food was excellent, had three course evening meal and breakfast the following morning. No complaints whatsoever. The room was lovely again no complaints. In fact if myself and my husband are in the area we would not hesitate to book a room here. We were with an organised coach trip so the staff were very busy but very friendly.

« Super Friendly and Helpful Staff, Top Breakfast! »

Called the day before to request an early check in due to specific circumstances. Lily arranged this without a fuss and greeted warmly by her on arrival. Room had a very comfortable bed, new bathroom furniture but needs some attention to stained ceiling and sealant round the bath However it was incredibly clean. Breakfast was one of the best I have had.anywhere. Freshly cooked with best quality bacon and lots of it too! Served by Zorka and Mary who could not do enough to ensure I enjoyed it and my visits to the bar too! Nice chat with Liam as I checked out early at the end of my two days stay.

« Nothing pretentious, just one hundred per cent excellent value. Highly recommended. »

My wife and I have just returned from a three nights' stay; I think we were the only (elderly!) couple there. The remainder of the guests seemed to be contractors' men or business people. The hotel is situated close to Thruxton motor-racing circuit. It is superbly geared to these markets. The lounges adjacent to the bars are by some standards quite spartan, but clearly aimed at providing plenty of suitable accommodation for those taking the most excellent bar meals. Thus, one does not have the feeling of being prematurely thrust into a retirement home! The young ladies serving at the bar and at breakfast are delightful, and each member of staff we met was very friendly. The comprehensive breakfasts lean very much towards the 'full English', again very suited to the clientele we noted. Our room, in the annexe, was warm, clean, comfortable, and spacious, as was the en-suite. There is excellent walking to be had close at hand, and the town of Andover is about ten minutes walk away. The cost of our stay, including evening bar meals and drinks, was unbelievably low. A very welcome addition to the Best Western umbrella.

    « Superb service »

I was staying in Andover on business, at another hotel in the area. On Wednesday 24th Jan after working until shortly before midnight I found I was locked out of my hotel, and nobody was there to let me in and nobody was answering the phone. It was a cold night and I was tired so just needed to find somewhere warm and to sleep ASAP. I had a look online for hotels in the area and found the Best Western Andover. I called them at 00:05 to see if they had any rooms, and Jonathan answered. He said they just had one cleaned and ready to go. He booked me in and said he'd have it ready for when I arrived. When I got there he checked me in, sympathised with me, pointed me towards the free WiFi code, and even lent me his phone charger for the night since my phone had ran out of battery and my own charger was locked in another hotel miles away. Because I was checking in after midnight, he couldn't use his payment system to authorise my card for the night's stay, so he made a call to his manager at 00:30, waking him up to ensure I could get this room and stay for the night, and finally he even somehow managed to get me a bit of discount off the room price he'd quoted to me on the phone half an hour earlier! Literally some of the best service I have ever received, from the moment I called the Best Western everything went so smoothly and I couldn't have asked for more. THANK YOU JONATHAN for saving my skin that night!! All other staff I encountered at the hotel were similarly helpful and nice, and it left me with a hugely positive impression of the place. Hotel itself was nice and clean, if a little tired, but for the price I paid and service I got I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and again. Thanks.

    « Travellers Hotel »

We used this as a stopover on our way to cornwall and for one night it was adequate but it didn't leave us with a memory that would entice us to stay longer. The room was perfectly acceptable but overall the hotel needed to up it's professionalism. The restaurant was good enough to not bother going out for a meal but little sign that they attracted walk in custom. The room had all you expect and the bed was comfortable. Lastly, it was very difficult to locate even using the post code and satnav.

    « Great for a stop over... »

We have spent two nights here while visiting family and friends, wasn't that easy to find but satnav came in very handy! Room is warm, clean and comfortable and bathroom was ok too, powerful shower... Breakfast was very good, all you need and hot... Staff were really good, friendly and nothing was too much bother at all, Yes I would recommend this hotel every time.....

    « Perfect for a budget hotel »

The Best Western at Andover had everything that we required and more, especially for a budget hotel. The staff here were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were really friendly. The rooms themselves are very clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable, both my partner and I slept extremely well. This was helped by the fact that the hotel is in a very quiet area, so is very relaxing. The highlight of the trip was the breakfast, it was absolutely superb and probably the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel (including establishments which are far more expensive).

« Clean Comfortable and Basic »

Joe and I stayed at Best Western Andover one night recently on business The satellite navigation lead us straight to the hotel and upon arrival we were warmly welcomed The route to our room was via a covered walk way and upon some stairs The room was clean and tidy albeit basic. The one luxury was air con , no doubt welcome in summer months Noisy neighbours weren't the hotels fault but albeit not welcome Breakfast was fine and £79 bill was very reasonable Absolutely fine for the business traveler looking for somewhere to lay their head

    4
    « Perfectly OK »

Andover is probably never going to be one of the world's top tourist destinations, but if you have reason to want to stay in Andover, then this hotel does the job nicely. It's not right in the centre of Andover, but it's walking distance of the centre. No more than about a 15 minute walk. It's a nice quiet location and I certainly wasn't bothered by any noise at night. Free parking too. My bedroom (an executive room) was a generous size and comfortable enough. The bathroom looked a bit dated, but everything worked and was clean, so that was no real problem. The staff were friendly. I certainly was made to feel very welcome having a drink in the bar. Breakfast was good. A rather limited cold buffet, but a very nice hot buffet, so if you like a nice big cooked breakfast, you won't be disappointed.

    « Team Christmas lunch »

We attended the best western for our Christmas lunch in December. The hotel itself is very run down and is in desperate need of renovation. The staff do provide a good service and it's probably this reason alone that the hotel is still open. The room where the function was held had no decorations up at all and there was no Christmas atmosphere at all. The food was served swiftly but very disappointed in the food because although we'd paid around £19 for 3 courses it was clearly frozen out of the bag, no taste and the majority of us left it. I didn't stay overnight so unable to comment on the accommodation but if the food is anything to go by I'm glad I didn't. All in all, would I stay/return to this hotel, no! There are other hotels of similar price that provide a lot better food in a building that isn't filled with cobwebs and falling apart.

    « Project in progress »

Stayed here for 1 night, booked and executive room and got room 103. Room was large, had an interesting architectural feature. Clearly this was the original entrance to the house because the original porch is located in the room, don't walk into the columns if you get up in the night, lol. Bed was comfortable and we both slept well.I would describe the decoration as spartan, no pictures, colour scheme white. Bathroom was spacious, however my pet hate shower over bath, not a small person so i end up attached to the show curtain, heated towel rail wasn't working, could do with deep cleaning and modernising. Breakfast was good, cooked to order. We will be back.

    « Great staff, but ..... »

Hotel staff couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast enjoyable. 'Executive' rooms in main block very comfortable and quiet. However, we were originally booked into room 233 as part of a coach company trip. This is over the function room and watching tv or sleeping were impossible until the music at the function stopped. This would have affected many of the neighbouring rooms in the 'new' wing. Staff happy to move us into an upgrade room near Reception which was fortunately vacant. If booking and if you want to sleep before midnight check whether functions are taking place.

    « Exceeded expectations »

Stayed here bonfire night happy chap tom on reception had a really good room 101 large and big comfy bed. Not many guests so only bar menu. But home made burger was excellent chef knows what she is doing. Breakfast was excellent served by charming Mary. Definitely come back if in area

    « Good hotel »

It was a pleasure to stay in this hotel. The rooms are very good, the internet wifi does not work very well in the room. The breakfast is very good. The hotel is a bit far from the center but it worth it.

    « Weekend Away »

Visit was very nice. The hotel was very nice clean n tidy. Our room was very nice, warm n clean. My mother in law lives in Andover and we alway take her Christmas shopping but she doesn't have enough room for us to stay so my daughter and I stayed at hotel. The hotel is friendly. The evening porter was very helpful n friendly. We checked on Sunday morning friendly receptionist. Then I had a phone call from hotel letting me know that I had left two jumpers behind. So next time we visit Andover we may stay there again

« Adequate for our needs »

Stayed on a Friday and Saturday night in October 2017 as we were attending a local wedding on Saturday. Not knowing the area this appeared to be the closest hotel to the wedding venue. Finding the hotel is straightforward on the outskirts of Andover. Initial reaction on approaching the hotel was that it looks quite dated but has a good amount of parking spaces. Booking in was easy and first impressions on the walk to the room and the room itself was this hotel had seen better times and was possibly struggling to keep up to date. However, the room was clean and warm and quite adequate for our needs. The hot breakfast on Saturday was cooked to order and on Sunday the hot breakfast was buffet style. There was a small range of cereals in little individual boxes and pots of marmalade and honey available. A pot of yoghurt my wife chose was past it eat by date and had gone off but was changed without fuss. The room was not cleaned or the bed made on Saturday but new towels were provided and the old ones left in the room. All in all a reasonable stay that suited our needs and was what we would have expected for the price we paid.

    « Won't be third time lucky »

The reception staff were helpful and polite which is why they are getting two stars not just one. This place is not what I would expect from a Best Western Hotel sadly. The room was okay ish, small and everything worked but I have never slept in such an uncomfortable bed. That and the fact that whenever the upstairs room or next doors bathroom was used it was so loud. I mean loud enough to wake you. The walls were so thin I could hear the conversation and the guy snoring next door all night ! Wifi was very poor and the condiments in the room were not refilled daily. One pack of biscuits on the first day at check in but that's it for the week. They are obviously a one off gift at arrival ! The tea and coffee weren't replaced completely each day either which I think isn't much to ask for. I have stayed here twice in the past six weeks on business and thought the second time that I'd give the place the benefit of the doubt as I did consider cancelling. However it was the same the second time around too. I have no intention on making it three times though.

    « Things ok....apart from items missing. »

Without clear instructions this hotel is a little on the difficult side to locate. Our sat nav sent us through a housing estate nearby. The approach road is very dark so exercise caution.Car parking spaces are sufficient but again exercise caution when entering the reception area as there is a bit of a step that my wife stumbled on.We were greeted at reception and verbally shown to our room 207 which is up a couple of flights of stairs. On entry it became very apparent that our room had several items missing as that were listed on our booking confirmation....a room safe,a telephone, the air conditioning control which was on all night,no wake up/service alarm clock, water bottle,no free toiletries(only the push units on the bathroom wall which were listed). Also the shower button on the mixer taps did not work so a bath was the only choice...the toilet took a few flushes and still did not clear.Breakfast was fine and on our exits we pointed these problems out to reception....Best Western have certainly gone down hill in standards...we use to stay regularly at other hotels.....other chains are leaving you behind....time to pick your game up.Visited Oct 28th 2017

    « Dramatic Improvement! Impressive! »

I stayed here prior to this visit when it was running under an alternative brand. I am incredibly impressed with the transformation! On my last visit I almost slept in the car due to the umpteen spiders in the room, dated/broken fittings, paper thin walls and resembled something out of Amityville! .... On this occasion however, as a Best Western, the difference is unreal! The room was modernised, comfortable and warm. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming and seemingly proud which was lovely to see. I unfortunately missed breakfast due to having to leave before serving but I'm sure I would not have been disappointed. Signage is obvious now although the lane upto the hotel is narrow. My only criticism is the overflow parking as when I arrived this was incredibly dark and away from any street lighting .. perhaps extra floodlighting could be added? All in all a very comfortable stay and I would certainly pay a visit again :)

    3
    « Adequate »

Booked in here on Monday for a 2 night stay, while I was on a course. Booking in was easy, left my things here while I went for a wander around town. Room was very clean, and good standard in bathroom. I did not eat in the restaurant, apart from breakfast, which was very nice. Internet reception is poor, but that could be an area thing too. Hotel is a bit of a walk from the town centre , so if you like exercise, you will enjoy the walk back up Micheldever road, to get back to the hotel!

    1
    « One night stay »

Hotel looks tired from the outside, doesn't look very welcoming. Few car parking spaces but not loads. The receptionist was kind enough and told us what we needed to know. Hotel was extremely noisy at night!! Must have been some kind of party going on somewhere, very loud music and people shouting outside of the room!!! Very annoying and not what you expect of a hotel like this!!!! Room is very basic, I would say over priced for what you get. Not up to the standards of a Premier inn or Travel Lodge. I would not return to this hotel, purely because of the noise at night which seemed to go on for hours and drunken people shouting in the car park and corridor of hotel.

    5
    « Hidden Gem »

This is such a wonderful hotel, its situated in such a peaceful area although only a stones throw from the town centre. The staff are attentive and obviously care greatly to make sure you have a pleasant stay, the rooms are comfortable and have all the mod cons needed for any stay. The food was excellent and plentiful. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

    3
    « Needs some investment. »

One night was probably enough I reckon. In reverse order, the breakfast was very nice and although a bit of a rush due to our wonky timing, much better than dinner. Dinner was poor to be fair, cold chicken satay starters, fillet steak hopeless, Eton mess pudding hardly any meringue and a new waiter who held the top of every glass. Steak taken off the bill. My mate said his chicken main was ok. Banister rail came off in my hand, room clean and ok, radiator permanently on! Very noisy plumbing, bed comfy, walls thin. The staff were a pleasant bunch. The public rooms need some investment as does the exterior. Support and training from HQ almost certainly in short supply.

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed overnight just to break our journey to Dorset. Lovely clean room with everything we needed. Evening menu not extensive but ok, maybe would be better on a weekend. Breakfast good quality and plenty of choices. Corridor to room was a little tired but as the hotel has only just been taken over by Best Western I would hope this will improve in time. Staff (David. Nicola and Ryan) were very pleasant, charming and helpful - nice to be met with a smile. Not sure if we approached the hotel from the wrong side of Andover but would never have found it without a satnav

    « Annual Visit »

I have been staying at this hotel for 2 -3 days every September for the past 7 -8 years for a fishing trip - recently taken over by Best Western. All new staff who were all friendly and helpful - some were struggling with what looked to be a new computer system but in good humour - the staff make hotels and everyone here is a credit to the hotel chain. This is the only place that I stay alone and I never feel "out of place" here - the bar area has been redecorated since my last visit and is a pleasant room for a bar meal and a few drinks. The food is improved since the takeover - breakfast offers plenty of choice for a traditional cooked breakfast or something lighter - good choice on the evening menu. Located close to my fishing and just off the motorway / dual carriageway and easy to get to - plenty of on site parking. Everything for my needs on one site - Will be back same time next year. Steve Shannon.

    « Great stay »

This was a girls weekend away. Room was clean, tidy and the breakfast was very yummy. The staff struggled to keep up with the demand during breakfast at times but maybe we just went down at peak time. Great stay and reasonable priced. Would stay again.

    « ideally situated »

on first arriving you go up a narrow driveway on the right hand side to the hotel . There is very limited car parking spaces outside the main entrance .but to the right there is further parking but in my opinion it does not look as safe as the spaces outside the reception.. staff were helpful and friendly through out our stay and do multiple jobs within the hotel . breakfast was nice and evening meals were lovely although it says restaurant it is actually the same room were you have breakfast. all in all a nice pleasant hotel . There was a wedding reception on the sat night when we stayed but it the noise was minimal and did not affect are stay

    « Clean but ramshackle »

Arrived Friday evening after a long day. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs and no lift available. Staff friendly but slow serving in restaurant. Only restaurant I have ever been in which my food was served 15 mins before my partners turned up and his was so hot he had to wait for it to cool down enough to eat. Seemed like solo dining. They did provide a fair take away snack for breakfast as we had to be away early in the morning.

« Does what it says on the tin »

We stayed here for one night to break up a journey with our 2yr old daughter. On arrival I was worried we had made the wrong choice as the outside is quite tired, but the staff were great and the room was fine. If you want luxury and treats this is not the place for you, if you want a practical place to stay then you will be happy. We didnt have any food here, short but steep walk into town with plenty of food options.

    « Wedding »

Fantastic day all round. Exceptional staff professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The manager looked after me the night before as well as my bridesmaids. I didn't have to worry about anything. The ceremony and reception were beautiful. I can't recommend highly enough. A perfect day without any stress.

« Comfy beds and quiet rooms »

Crashed here for a night on route to Torquay - efficient check in, nice quiet rooms, very comfortable bed. Shower was super powerful, temperature did change a little but never to the extent that I had to step out of the shower. Did find a little difficult to find as we arrived in the dark and thought we'd taken a wrong turn down a residential road but all good! Breakfast was really nice as well, a very good place overall and for a great price.

    « So impressed »

Quiet location and a rather nice view from the hillside position . Arrived for a work weekend at the Leckford Festival on Saturday afternoon . My room was in the annexe and as I staying on my own I felt a unsure about staying . Asked reception if there was a room in the main house but due to a Wedding and the festival they were fully booked .Sarah Jane the newly appointed Manager came to my rescue and couldn't have been more understanding and found me a lovely room . 10/10 Sarah Jane ! I will be back and thanks again .

    « Lovely food .......but »

We stayed here for one night on the way to cornwall. We checked in which was fine but when got into our room the 2nd bed wasn't made up,but to be far they quickly sorted out this problem. We had dinner in the restaurant and I thought the food was really nice. After the meal we went back to the room and by this time my boy was absolutely shattered and went to sleep straight away.Excellent or so we thought.Me and the wife didn't sleep very well cause there was a party going on and the end of the hallway through some doors. It seems like the function room is right where the family rooms are.The breakfast was nice in the morning but had to wait for eggs and the toast was not toast but warm bread, needed to be left in the toaster for longer.

    « Relaxed and homely »

Lovely place to stay and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and basics are supplied. Dinner was yum and I've heard the breakfasts are just as good. Went for a quick walk behind the motel where there is walking tracks that are beautiful, wish I had more time to explore these. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

    « "A Real Gem"! »

Really lovely hotel, room (102) was spacious with everything you need or want. Stayed on the Tuesday night, short walk to the town although up a bit of a hill on the way back, there looked some nice places to eat in the town with plenty of variety. I eat in the hotel restaurant and I am so glad I did the food was AMAZING! Salmon to start with avocado and poached egg, fillet steak with all the trimmings followed by cheesecake yum yum!!! Food was not rushed at all every course was served perfectly. Two great waitresses in the restaurant special mention to "Nicola" she was so funny and friendly! A real GEM! Breakfast was fine no frills but you could choose which eggs you preferred and freshly made porridge was on offer. Fish at a supplement. Bottled water x 2 in the room with a big comfy bed and very quiet surroundings. Small quiet bar area with places to chill. Reception staff in the evening were welcoming and helpful. Guy in morning on check out (think his name was Dave) was as miserable as sin and never said one word to me!! Lots of free parking. Air con in the room but I'm not a fan! Would I stay again? Absolutely! Eat in the restaurant? Definitely! See you next time and thank you !!

« Attending British Superbikes (Pirelli 600 Superstock) at Thruxton »

Very pleasant stay. Firm mattress suited us and the recent refurbishment, made it feel like a modern hotel. Only had breakfast during our stay, but it had good choice and definitely set us up for the day.

« Surprised at the changes. »

I stayed at this hotel several months ago when it was called the Quality Hotel and it was only OK. The hotel has been revamped and it is now a pleasant place to be. I booked a double room at very short notice. Not a problem and very reasonable rates. The rooms, bar and restaurant area have all been redecorated and refreshed. The room was very clean with aircon, toiletries and tea/coffee facilities. A reasonably priced bar, good food and pleasant staff made for an enjoyable stay. The Premier Inn has been my choice of hotel when staying in Andover. That first choice may now have changed.

    5
    « Twin Room »

Really very pleased. Nicola & her team really do go above and beyond to please the guests. Thank you for making us so welcome. We mentioned we wouldn't make breakfast and we're given a doggy bag with snacks, fruit, chocolate & bottled water. I was very impressed. Food order upon arrival was very quick & we enjoyed our food.

    « Lovely hotel »

Lovely hotel friendly reception staff who were happy to give directions to town which is a few minutes drive, you can walk it but the hotel is up a hill,so perhaps not suitable for all, Added bonus of air conditioning in room as it was a warm weekend, breakfast was a Buffet and very nice, there's a big car park that did get quite full, but an overflow at the back there's a nice garden too

    « 2 night stay in July 2017 »

Very comfortable stay, booked a twin room as thought weather might be too warm for a double bed in July. Food excellent and plenty of it. Only problem of a wobbly loo seat fixed the same day. Glasses from bar drinks the previous night not cleared the next day and cups not washed from morning coffee but it was a Sunday so thought maybe short staffed?

    4
    « Actually a bit of a surprise »

This is a nice place. Visit at height of Summer so nice to have Aircon in every room. Staff friendly and room spacious. Nice breakfast!. Good location and all in all a very enjoyable place to stay. I remember the evening meal being pretty good. I will return.

    3
    « Plain but clean »

The hotel is fine as a basic budget hotel and the room was comfortable however I had paid for an executive king room wanting the extra space but was only given a normal room which didn't cross my mind at the time. Recently redecorated the hotel and room were clean and fresh but there are no pictures or anything anywhere with all the walls being plain magnolia, which felt like sleeping in a slightly upmarket cell. Reception staff were helpful and friendly.

    4
« Receptionist made a serious error of judgement »

There was nothing wrong with the hotel as a basic place to stay. However although bed and breakfast was clearly stated on the booking with Hotels.com the hotel said this was a mistake and no breakfast was included. They intimated that this was a frequent mistake made by online booking agents. Not a good start! Things got worse on the second day of our stay when a man tried to walk into our room at 8.45 am. He was very apologetic but said reception had given him a key. When I mentioned this at reception when checking out the receptionist apologised but said she had given the man a key because he wanted to leave something in the room early before he used the room that evening. She warned him not to use the key until the other guests, us, had left. If we had been out having breakfast he could have entered our room and taken our belongings. When I pointed this out to the receptionist I got another apology. But this is seriously bad practice. I wonder if this has happened before.

    « Great hide away »

Quaint place away from the city and busy roads. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant to talk to. The room was spacious with a large bathroom that had a nice window to open for the shower steam. The breakfast was large. We had to ask for toast with our eggs and they were glad to bring it from the kitchen. The bar and waiting area is spacious as well. We had trouble printing tickets from their newly upgraded computer so we sent the clerk an email and he printed them from the desk. The many paths leading from the hotel to parts of the city are great to hike and exercise on.

« Good but a few improvements needed »

I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was spacious enough. The only issues i had in the room were u had to put a deposit down for the air con remote which i found strange and the other was the coffee and milk was not re-stocked each day and you had to request for more. The food at the hotel was nice but it did get busy in the bar and when i tried to go in the restaurant i was told i had to book which wasnt mentioned at check in. The staff were very friendly and very apologetic even if you were waiting 30seconds to be served. Overall a good stay for the centre of Andover

« Great staff, good value, lovely character »

After a long plane trip followed by a long drive, we didn't arrive until later in the evening for a one night stop over. And what a pleasant surprise! Accessed via a tree filled driveway leading to the (free) car park, this hotel has a lovely character. The welcome was extremely warm and caring and we immediately felt at home. (We even commented that we preferred the vibe over a six star hotel we had stayed in recently). The room was clean spacious and comfortable and the breakfast the next day while I feel could be improved a bit in terms of more options, was delivered by staff with sunny smiles. A few days later, I received an email advising we had left a top there which Gayle a) had realised was ours and b) kindly sent in the mail, thus saving so much time. Obviously this is not a five star hotel but I gave it five stars for the lovely staff culture, the most important factor in any establishment. Thank you.

« Brilliant affordable hotel and restaurant »

The hotel has been refurbished and this has been done very well. The bar, lounge and restaurant are lovely. The food is amazing, this is a proper restaurant not some pub or chips with everything type - it is really lovingly prepared by a proper chef and you can taste the difference. The staff are really nice on reception the bar, restaurant, etc. Highly recommended for business, couples, families. very pretty setting and a short walk to the town centre. Everything is fresh and new.

« Fabulous meal in the restaurant »

A friend has been staying here for 4 days and we had dinner in the hotel with her. The food was excellent. I had Tiger Prawn Rissotto, hubby had Venison and friend had Fillet Steak. Absolutely divine food and service. The hotel has had a complete refurb and all the public areas were lovely. My friend said the room was lovely and the breakfast very good. They have an excellent function room with its own bar, beautifully laid out. The hotel is really close to town but on the edge of Ladies Walk, so surrounded by trees and woods yet a 10 minute walk into the town centre where there are restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shops. Highly recommended.

    « Good weekend »

Stayed here overnight as attending a function at the hotel, room was clean and had everything we needed and the bed was very comfy ( always a plus point with me) all the staff we interacted with were professional but friendly and breakfast was very good on the Sunday morning, would not hesitate to stay again if I'm the area.

« Trying had but mixed up »

Nice grounds and secluded location but distant form facilities in town so a bit stuck up the hill from Andover if you want to shop etc there's nothing around the hotel. Nice clean functional rooms with air con and decent bar and restaurants but service with a smile its not. The staff constantly reviewing and discussing how this are done out loud at reception that you can hear the full discussions in the bar and moaning about the changes since best western took over with constants working in guest areas it all seems very much a work in progress that seems to have taken over the operation of the hotel as oppossed to looking after guests. Breakfast was very nice but revealed a hotel full of workmen and adds to the confusion as to what this hotel is trying to be. I suspect once all the changes are in place things will be better but for now it a pleasant enough hotel and ok for the odd night. Food was reasonable too.

    « Spotless, friendly, great »

I had a three night stay with my disabled parents. They were in the Universal accessible room, and me in a single. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, great size, well prepared, and had everything you would expect. Iron, hairdrier, Tea / coffee facilities. Air Con. The accessible room had a bathroom with all safety rails that you would want. Staff were very friendly, and the restaurant served very good food. Breakfast was as good as you would want. Full English or continental options. Would highly reccomend
