« Fun in the sun »

My kids and I stay often and love the delicious breakfast and free wifi works great. Location is awesome and it's across the street from San diego harbor. Pool is nice with hot tub. Great view and cute balcony

    « Decent hotel »

Obviously an old beachside hotel. Small and tight spaces. Nice to have a balcony, but requested the bottom floor and was put on the top. 1 elevator 2 doors. Great views. However room was dirty. I am 6 feet tall and dust gathered all over open closet shelf. Gross . Decent and great neighborhood. But I don't think a repeat stay

    « Good location »

We stayed here before boarding a cruise ship. It is close to airport, and they have a free shuttle to and from airport (just call upon arrival and it is there within 15 min). They also have a shuttle to the cruise terminal. Nice view of the harbor and close to many restaurants along the waterfront. Also close to many convenience stores to pick up essentials before your cruise. A few steps from the city transit where you can catch a bus for inexpensive touring around San Diego. Rooms are OK - clean but a little dated. Breakfast is OK. Standard for a Best Western and good value for the price.

« Great Place to Stay Before/After Flight from SAN »

To avoid the anxiety of driving to the SAN airport during the morning rush hour, we stayed here before our flight to Amsterdam. Upon our return, to avoid driving home in the dark on a rainy evening, we stayed here again. Each stay earned us 7 nights of long-term parking at the hotel. We slept very well and enjoyed the better-than-average included breakfasts. Hotel employees were pleasant and definitely showed their "I care" attitude.

    « Hills are alive »

Very good location, room nice with micro and fridge, breakfast was good with nice selection. Staff kept in fresh . Parking garage limited in spaces, had to park outside when we arrived back late, overall very nice stay

« Tiny room, Cigarette Burns, 1970's old »

Our room was so tiny you could hardly move. There was cigarette burns in the blanket, the furniture was so old there was drill marks where an old TV was previously. Its a 1970 style hotel that has had some renovations. There was little security if any and generally I felt the hotel was poor value. The breakfast was good and the location isnt bad. The only rooms here that are acceptable are on the front of the building. Photos supplied to online agents are potentially deceptive as they do not show accurate images of furniture or room size of all the rooms

    « Good Experience »

This was a very good hotel for the price. It's in a good location close to the airport, downtown, and other areas such as Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and Old Town. This is not a fancy hotel, but had the basics, everything worked, and was clean. A plus was the self-serve breakfast room. The wireless Internet also worked fine. The bed was comfortable.

    « San Diego 2016 »

This place is showing it's age but is a great place to stay, especially if you prefer to be in a quite place. Free parking and free breakfast is a wonderful plus. There are places to eat just across the road and it is easily accessible to anywhere you want to go. The staff is very friendly.

« Good hotel, great location. »

Had to attend a wedding close by and stayed at this Best Western because of the location. Rooms were good and breakfast items were quite varied. Enjoyed our stay here and would definitely choose this hotel again.

    « I'll Be Back »

I've stayed here before and enjoyed it so I tried it again. The room I was given had been updated since my last visit so that was nice. I got an ocean view room so that was nice. The room was clean and house keeping did a good job each day. And while I was there they were moving new furniture into rooms down the hall from me so obviously their updating is an ongoing thing. Breakfast was OK, nothing special but the attendant kept everything supplied. Yes, the next time I visit the San Diego area I'll be back here.

« Good place at nice price but aging property »

San Diego is not a big city, so it's easy from this hotel to reach both, beaches at West or downtown East within a reasonable distance. The rooms are small and a a bit aging but there is no purpose to stay inside in SAN. There is a small pool located in the front of the hotel. No ATM machine inside the hotel. There is a complimentary shuttle bus from 7am up to 5pm.

« vacation in san diego »

We stayed at this location in San Diego. The hotel was conveniently located to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff was extremely professional , helpful and caring. No questions were too trivial to be answered. Any time of the day, they always greeted you with a smile and a good morning, afternoon or evening. The view from the hotel was spectacular. The room was spacious and very clean. I would definitely recommend this location of Best Western. Free parking and free breakfast too! Breakfast staff were great also.

« Great Staff, Great Location and Great Value! »

After arriving a little before check-in we were happy to find that our room was ready for us. Our 1 queen bedroom on the sixth floor was huge and had a great views as it was overlooking the harbor. The room was very clean and even had a refrigerator and microwave oven. The bathroom, while small was clean and had plenty of good quality towels. We had the choice of parking underground or outside, we chose underground, there were plenty of spaces and it was easy to maneuver. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they had maps available to show us in detail where some good restaurants were located and recommended a Thai Restaurant, which we chose to eat at that night and loved! Coffee was available in the lobby as well as fresh apples. This busy hotel is conveniently located, it's only a short drive to the airport but we were not disturbed by aircraft sounds. Nice job Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel!

« Good Hotel near the airport and harbor »

Great hotel stay for the price. right across from the harbor and near numerous restaurants. 1 - 2 miles from the San Diego airport. Spent the night here before flight back to DC and check in was easy and quick. Front desk checked took the time to find a clean room and allowed me to check in before noon. The manager recommended several restaurants along the harbor for dinner. Used the laundry machines on the second floor to do laundry. Front desk helped me get a cab at 5:15 AM to the airport for flight home. After completing a month long trip i was just looking for a comfortable place near the airport and the hotel was great.

« No sleep in San Diego »

All night street and airplane noise ruined my San Diego stay. Decent mattress but hard pillows-telephone and TV not working and toilet running nonstop! Nice pool and jacuzzi and free parking can't make up for no sleep. Cancelled 2nd night. Busy harbor area somewhat walk-able . Run the other way! Pay an extra $ 20 a night at some place decent.

« 3 night stay for married couple on Vacation - »

Stayed here before and based on that, decided to revisit. Plus points - rooms good, hotel clean - staff efficient and courteous - free parking on site - breakfast good - pool available. Room rate reasonable. Minus points - no restaurant or bar - few eating facilities in this area apart from nearby Holiday Inn restaurant, and two waterside joints - one of which is Jimmy's Famous American Tavern (excellent) - can't speak for the other - Italian-based cuisine. Hotel is 2-3 miles from downtown. Quite a walk to nearest stop for the Bus service, which is good but finishes very early evening - not good! Overall, reasonable value for money.

« Great location and Great View of the Harbor »

We recently stayed at the Best Western Yacht Harbor Inn In San Diego. It is a great little hotel right down on the Harbor. The rooms could use a little updating . The bathrooms are starting to show their age. The staff was very nice. I asked to be moved to a harbor view room and they were very helpful in making that happen. The continental breakfast was really good. They had many wonderful choices of both hot and cold items. The yogurt parfaits and the pancake machine seemed to be very popular. Our room on the 5th floor had a spectacular view of the harbor. The hotel really does have a great location. It has a pool and hot tub. If you stay there take the time and go for a walk on the harbor. this property is located near the zoo and sea world. If you need to unload your luggage. Make sure and park out front and use the lobby doors. Otherwise you will be hauling your luggage up some stairs. The parking garage is located off the back of the lobby and you need to use the stairs.

    « Great location »

Real nice hotel with great views of the harbor. Even have little balconies to enjoy the breezes off the bay. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included is always great when you are travelling. Would recommend.

    4
« Very clean and comfortable »

The room was great, had a harbor view on the balcony. The building and room was very clean. I am not fond of staying alone in a hotel, but felt completely safe and even went to the pool. The fridge was a little noisy, but otherwise great stay, great price.

    4
« Great Location and Friendly Staff »

This is an older hotel, but it is clean and well maintained. Our room size was adequate, the bathroom was spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was typical with eggs, fresh fruits, and great coffee. The staff members were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel's location is excellent for visiting the Point Loma and the Sunset Beach area.

« Good Value, Helpful Staff »

This was a good hotel for the price. Had a great view of downtown and enjoyed the patio. Perfect location for our needs. They could use some updating as shower curtain was torn & carpets were dirty. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

    « 10/17/2016 »

Great location, next to city and harbor. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful! The breakfast had lots of options and was good. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. We would return to this hotel in future visits.

    « Good stay »

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. This is a classic best western hotel- nice and clean room, good wi fi, basic breakfast and friendly staff. We got a room With balcony to the main road, which can be noisy sometimes, but nothing that ear plugs cannot handle. Location is great, just 10 min of drive to all must see places- sea world, zoo, gas lamp, old town and etc. The hotel has large and convenience parking lot. The only drawback is that no enough seats in breakfast, so you have to wait or to eat in the lobby. Tip: avoid first floor rooms that closer to breakfast buffet. Bottom line, recommended hotel.

    5
« great time with granddaughters »

Wonderful experience with our two granddaughters 9/6. Loved the pool - clean/comfortable. Breakfast staff kept the food area clean and supplied - several warm and cold offerings. Close to Sea World and the harbor. Every night we walked across the street to a different restaurant on the harbor - all three restaurants Pizza Nova, Jimmy's American Taverna and Point Loma Landing were great.plus had ice cream at a friendly shop on the harbor too. My husband loved that we just parked our car and could avoid traffic. A plus was the complimentary parking at the hotel.. Great location with friendly staff.

« Fine for a couple of nights! »

Stayed for 2 nights as a stop over before travelling to Honolulu. Had a room on first floor, was surprised at the size of the room and had a comfy bed! Bathroom a bit small but the shower was good. Could have done without the male occupier in the room next to ours serenading his girlfriend at 2am in the morning, just what we needed after a 12 hour flight!!!

    5
    « Stop over »

We stayed here for one night to catch a flight the next day! It was great. Friendly staff, great view, close to airport! They had a shuttle service. Very reasonable hotel! I would recommend this hotel!

« Great Views and Comfortable Room »

This hotel offered a great view of the harbor for a small additional price which is well worth the additional price if you like to sit outside on the balcony with a beautiful view. This place only had 1 downfall and that was the noise control. It is on a very very busy street until about 11 pm and starting up again at around 5 am. So sleeping late was a bit of an issue if you are a light sleeper. If you are a heavy sleeper as my son is then it would be fine. I would still absolutely recommend it. Go to Mitchell's across the street for fish tacos. They are great!!

    3
    « Good value »

The hotel from the outside looks like it needs some work but the inside is quite nice. If you are spending most of your time away from the hotel anyway I suggest this to save some money. It is also an easy 10min drive to everything in San Diego.

« Exceptional Park and Stay Experience »

We had a great start to our Hawaiian vacation by staying here before we flew out the next morning. Clean and nicely appointed room. Walking distance to a variety of harbor eateries for dinner. Full complimentary breakfast nicely presented and well stocked serving area. Covered parking garage right outside registration area. When the airport shuttle driver was running late the next morning due to the Marine graduation, the front desk person ordered a taxi for us before we even knew it was late! The staff are friendly, helpful and take pride in providing excellent service. Thank you Best Western Yacht Harbor!!

« Hidden Gem in San Diego »

This is not my first time at BW Yacht Harbor, the location and value keeping bringing me back. The hotel is relatively small but offers nice Harbor View rooms, hot breakfast, free parking and a very convenient location to the airport, downtown, Point Loma and surrounding areas. Staff is excellent and seem sincerely caring about the quality of the hotel and your stay. I will return.

« Great Customer Service, Clean and Convenient »

We stayed here over the weekend and had a wonderful stay. Though the sign out front looks outdated, the inside was clean and provided a nice stay. We stayed in room 403 which we would recommend. It had a nice view of the harbor but did face the parking lot. Our room was clean and well appointed, it was nice to have a microwave and refrigerator. The front staff was very helpful throughout our stay. They do have a continental breakfast in the morning which actually had eggs, sausage, and hash browns, pancakes, bagels, cereal, fruit, juices, toast, yogurt, and pastries. So it was a good size offering. The parking lot was right behind the lobby, you can park up or down in the garage and then pull right in front to load/ unload your luggage. We had a great stay and would come back again!

« Trip to Southern California »

Clean spacious rooms, excellent and helpful staff. We made other reservations at another hotel that was not very clean. This was our last minute reservation replacement. The staff was very helpful and let us see the room before we made a decision to stay. We were very pleased with the room.

    4
    « Friendly & Helpful Staff »

We would stay again because of the friendly staff and the rooms are comfortable. Complimentary coffee is nice too in the lobby. Also has a nice pool and hot tub. But our biggest disappointment was the breakfast offered; there was protein served only one day.

    « Don't judge a book by it's cover. »

The exterior of the hotel looks worked, but what you see & receive inside is a surprise. The rooms are quiet, clean, spacious, and comfortable. My room had a balcony with a view of the harbor. The hotel is across the street from the marina, restraurants, and a walking/jogging trail. It is also close to the airport, downtown, ocean and Point Loma. As an added plus, you have free parking, WiFi, and a full breakfast each morning. The front desk staff are extremely courteous and helpful. I will be coming back.

« Great staff and Great Location »

The hotel itself is a little dated from the outside but well kept. The lobby area is small but nice. I requested a room facing the harbor and high floor, but instead got a crappy room location on the first floor. This is not the staffs fault I understand the harbor rooms are in high demand on weekends. The room was small but comfortable and the staff was amazing. Chris, the shuttle driver is awesome! My only major complaint was the breakfast. The pastries were stale, and the biscuits were pretty gross as well. I'm not a very picky eater, especially if its "free" but the food was terrible. Other than that the location is perfect if you don't have a car. Close to restaurants and bars. My husband and I got a cab downtown for $15 but decided to walk back to our hotel afterwards and it took about an hour, but we enjoyed the walk and soaking up California's weather. Overall pretty good hotel, the staff is awesome, We would stay here again with the promise that we were getting a room high up facing the harbor. This is the cheapest room you will get in the area for the quality (cable, free breakfast, location, rooms inside with hallways)

    4
« Very good hotel and at affordable price. »

Free breakfast Free internet Free parking (huge structure) Staff was nice and professional Lobby is nice and remodel Rooms are good, beds are new, not totally remodel but ok Great location!, Nice Area, Many restaurant near by Cons: Breakfast room is small, and get crowdy easily making a little hard for people to serve themselves. Would I recommend? YES!

    3
« Nice location, close to San Diego Zoo. »

The hotel is 15 minutes away from the San Diego Zoo. That is where we went the next day. A few minutes drive there are places to eat like fast food chains. A little further from the hotel there is a grocery store and nearby park called Liberty Park. There is a Harbor view but it is close to the street. The sliding door did not block off the sound of people who were outside talking till 1 Am on a Saturday night. Good thing my TV was on but I could still hear them. The toilet did not flush the first time. Had to flush the second time, maybe due to low water pressure?! Shower was OK though. The balcony sliding door was hard to open. Had to push it with all my strength. There is free parking and free breakfast. The pancake machine was not working properly . The lady attendant said she would fix it but it seemed like she had to do other things. I stayed on the third floor . I am glad no one complained about my kids being noisy with them running around the room at times.

    4
« Fantastic pool, quiet rooms, good breakfast »

I loved the pool here! I usually have to inch my way into outdoor pools due to the cooler temps, but this pool was so warm even in the considerably cooler months (I went in late Sept) that I just walked right in. We had other guests in the room right next door, but we didn't hear them at all! The breakfast room was a little crowded, but everyone just kinda worked with it. Food was good, but I missed the waffles (they had a pancake maker instead).

    5
« Nice Hotel for Reasonable Price »

We stayed here one night before flying out for a vacation. It is convenient to the airport, convenient to restaurants, has an airport shuttle (runs 7:00 to 5:00, I believe), and allowed us to leave our car in their lot while traveling (1 week free, $5/day after that). The staff was friendly and competent, and our room was comfortable, quiet (may be a little more noisy in the rooms near the street), clean, and had nice amenities.

    4
    « Great stay with a view »

Small property with a great view of the harbor yachts, boats, etc. Staff couldn't have been nicer from check in, suggesting an excellent hospital for an ER visit, then extending our stay with a great rate. Free parking and complimentary breakfast adds to the perks of this hotel!

  • 4
    « Good Stay »

There can be a lot of traffic noise as it is close to the street, but it is bearable and there are rooms away from the traffic. The breakfast was very enjoyable overall a nice place to stay and for a great value.

    4
    « Clean and courteous »

Very nice hotel. It takes advantage of the fresh air thru the lobby. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Love the balconies. Definitely a bonus. Harbor is right across the street. Very nice sized pool and hot tub. I like the open air atmosphere. You will get traffic noise but we didn't mind. We had to change rooms for the older air system in room 514. If you need anything, just ask. Staff is very accommodating. Wifi is excellent. Breakfast is included. Pool is super clean. Thank you for that!! The only real upgrade I would suggest is to make it non smoking. Really nasty when sitting on your balcony and waves of smoke rise up into your room.

    2
« Decent place, but for the price, I expected more »

My wife and I made reservations for a special week together in San Diego. We decided to try this Best Western because it was centralized and had free parking and free breakfast. Most of the other hotels in San Diego wanted up to $14 a day for parking... really?!? This Best Western was pretty pricey compared to what we're used to, but we decided to give it a try. The room was pretty basic, but it was clean and fine. The air conditioner was a little noisy, but that's fairly typical. The "free breakfast" was worthless. Really... just go to the Denny's around the block if you want breakfast. The elevator was broken on Saturday and Sunday - they finally fixed it on Monday. It's nice to have a coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar to grab a cup any time of day, but they didn't always keep it stocked with tea bags and hot water.

    3
« Will someone clean my room »

Had to plead for room to be cleaned. Cleaning person lied about us leaving "Do Not Disturb" card on door. It was still inside when we returned. Expect loud street traffic. Front desk did give me a $30 credit.

    4
« Good hotel for the price »

You can tell that the hotel hasn't been updated in a while but it is still very comfortable. Beds were great. Breakfast is what you would expect--scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, sweet rolls etc. We had a harbor view room which we enjoyed.

    3
« Hotel with great views »

This hotel has great views- we had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the Harbor- loved sitting on the balconies. Staff was also very attentive. Rooms were adequate, but nothing special- it appears that management does just enough to comply with Best western standards. The free breakfast selection was fine, but the breakfast room appears to be furnished with "school room furniture" The pool was very nice and we enjoyed the Free parking

    4
« Good hotel with no problems »

We stayed in this hotel for 2 x nights. We had requested a harbour view room but were allocated a car park view but didn't complain as the room was perfectly adequate. Fridge and microwave in the room and the room was clean. We found the breakfast to be really good and always found a seat. We also used the pool and although by the road at the front of the hotel you were shielded from it. Free coffee in the lobby was great. Minor negatives were - noisy as the airport is in the city so all the hotels would be the same. It is by the road - but so a lot of the other hotels and we only noticed the noise when there was an fire on a boat in the harbour and there seemed to be hundreds of fire trucks and sirens for hours - but again no problem as there was a reason! As an international visitor a room safe is a must for us but yet again there was none in our room as we have found with all of the Californian hotels - this really should be a priority as we have our passports, documents and money with us and nowhere to leave them safe in the room. Plenty of free parking either underneath or outside the hotel. We ate at the Point Break Pub on the road on the way to Shelter Island which had a great happy hour menu and a pint of beer was also only $2.75 at this time. All in all perfectly good hotel and we would return.

« Our Stay at Best Western »

Reading some reviews, I was expecting less. But my stay at Best Western Hotel was GREAT! Check in and check out was easy and fast. No issues. Room was clean, open, great harbor view as I asked for one! It had a balcony which is nice. Pool was good. Sheets were clean and very comfortable, perfect temperature inside our room. People complained about noises from busy street. Did not hear a thing. Sleep like a baby. Also, complementary breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking (which they charge you at every other hotel ) NO RESORT FEES! Great Stay overall. Will definitely come back. Best western was good to us!

    5
« Wonderful! Wonderful Place to Stay!! »

What a wonderful place to stay. Views were stupendous (5th floor facing harbor), staff (especially Chris at the front desk) were all friendly and helpful. Chris gave us great suggestions for eateries right across the street! The location is fantastic, they offer free shuttle service to the airport and bay cruises. Near 'Little Italy' for restaurants, quick drive to cruises and USS Midway. Breakfast was great. All staff was very kind. Value was fantastic!

    2
« Noisy location and hotel. Poor room description. Beware "city view" rooms! »

Where to start?! We have been travelling the USA and Canada for 5 weeks and this is the first hotel I am reviewing....why? Because it was not a pleasant experience and I am really cross about the mis advertising and pricing of this place. Starting with booking. If you feel you must book this hotel do not book via a 3rd party such as booking.com. You're almost certain to get a 1st (ground ) or 2nd floor room which will be noisy whichever side of the hotel you get. Also you are likely to pay more money to get the worst rooms they have - after being told you were upgraded of course!! The room itself was a fair size with 2 queen beds a tv, fridge and microwave. The whole place was tired but I don't particularly mind that as long as its clean. It was ok on the cleanliness side, not outstanding - we had a yogurt in the fridge from the previous occupant but felt it was just a mistake. The real rub was that the noise was terrible and the "city view' was a carpark and the holiday inn. I was told on check in I had been upgraded to 3rd floor city view. I nearly laughed when I saw it! Still fine until the worst nights sleep - even with my earplugs in! Our balcony door had what looked like a self made bolt on it as its original lock was broken. During the night, planes run until about 11pm? Thats ok as my kids sleep quite deeply. Its the chairs scraping on the other balconies which shocked me, and the fact that the balcony windows are not soundproofed at all and the walls are not much better. We were in room 307 which is across the hallway from the linen room and where I was woken at approx 7am by a washing machine spinning. I went to tell the front desk I wasn't happy and they did offer to move us but it would have meant checking out and storing our things. We'd had 5 weeks of check outs so as it was a stay of 2 nights and we were off out for the day we chose to stick it out. They gave me a plug in white noise machine which shows they know its a problem. On the 2nd night we had a group of men outside in the carpark having a loud gathering for well over an hour. Don't know quite what that was about but don't think they were even guests. The breakfast was awful. The only good thing was the pancake machine which always seemed to have a queue and took well over the quoted 1 minute to make 2 pathetic little pancakes. The pastries were repulsive, bagels hard, cakes ALL poppyseed which meant the kids didn't want them. The egg was like rubber (I didn't try the sausages as I am Vegetarian), the bread etc wasnt replenished and the tongs were always dirty (covered in icing etc from the gross pastries). They had a few flavours of yogurt but shockingly no butter - just disgusting margarine. The bananas looked past their best and no waffle maker. The room itself was horrible, cramped and artificially lit. I didn't notice any windows. We ate in the breakfast overflow room which only had about 4 tables in it and was very obviously something else in a previous life. I would not have been that happy at half the price but I felt completely robbed for what we paid. Not one that should be bearing the Best Western name! Best western offered me 5000 points when I told them - insult. I wont be needing rewards as I just won't use them. For our 3rd night we booked the Days inn on the hotel circle and it was under half the price with a lovely gated pool and hot tub in a nice surrounding at the back of the hotel. The room was new and even though its near the freeway it was much quieter! The Yacht Harbour has a tiny, unappealing pool ( we didn't go in it) at the front of the hotel, right by the busy road. The photo is taken with camera angles to trick you - don't believe it until you see it in the flesh!! All things considered if it was cheaper Id have let it slide a bit more but they charge a lot and try to pretend its something better than it is. We won't return. I also left my phone charger there - I know it is there and no one has tried to let me know. Another hotel I left something behind in had kept it and logged it with reception. Not impressed.

    « DISAPPOINTING »

Seems like a great location for a hotel. Across the street from the yacht harbor. Older small hotel rooms. The balcony door's lock was broken and replaced by a drop bolt. Didn't really secure the door. Very noisy at night. Lots of cars with very loud rap music. Woke me up several time during the night. Breakfast was so unappealing that all I took was the syrup coffee. Staff were very friendly and tried to apologize for the problems.

    « Excellent hotel »

This is an excellent hotel in San Diego. The view from the hotel of the harbor is great and the free breakfast is good with hot food items such as eggs. The price is affordable and the location is convenient for public transit.

« Fine for short stays »

Stayed for one night - good location near airport and other attractions. This is an older property that is starting to really show its age but for the most part things are very clean. Free parking and free breakfast. Rooms are slightly small but worked for us for one night. Good near-airport option for a night or two but I imagine there are better options nearby for longer stays.

« Best Western Yacht Harbor san Diego »

Great room with balcony overlooking the yacht harbor. We ate at the pizza nova right across the street and it was excellent. Rooms were large and also had a desk. Parking was right underneath the building and very close to the lobby. Breakfast was great and even included a pancake machine which made great pancakes.

« good location, quiet experience »

A very nice, quiet room with a lovely harbor view from the balcony. Convenient free parking and breakfast provided. Close to embarcadero attractions and point loma. Check-in agent not the friendliest, but not a deal-breaker.

« Get What You Pay For? »

The location is good for visiting some of the major parks around San Diego. The parking along with the usual Best Western Breakfast was free. There is a small pool with some lounges at the front of the hotel which faces the main road. Now what about "you get what you pay for?" The first small room we were assigned looked over the parking lot from the fourth floor. There was a problem with the A.C. and so we needed to change rooms. The second room was just as small and looked at the parking lot from the third floor. It still had a less than powerful A.C. but we were too tired to change to a another room. The clerk said she did not even have A.C. in her home and suggested that we leave the door to the small balcony open to cool the room. There was no place to put our two carry-on bags except to have one on a chair and the other near the bed. The area to hang clothes was mainly taken up by a refrigerator that made soft clicking sounds. The shower was adequate but the tiny plastic container of shampoo and conditioner was really enough for just one person.

we stayed here in Juli and august ( 12 days ) we had a wonderful time here ,rooms were big enough ,comfy beds ,housekeeping worked hard to keep things tidy and the staf was always very helpfull . althoug the hotel is located on a busy road .we had little noise in our room at night ,the breakfast was pitty enough always the same .but good and plenty ,close to the hotel there are busstops who brings you to old town at the bus station from where you can go to many directions .not to forget free parking and a good wifi

    « Great location »

This Best Western has the advantage of being in a great location, both near the city and the beaches of Mission Bay. The view from the rooms facing the ocean is superb. They can do better for the breakfast, the breakfast room is very small, although they opened up a new room for it - previously dedicated to the gym -, but there are a few tables outside where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. Staff is very kind.

« Disappointing hotel at a good location »

I don't want to spend too much time reviewing this hotel. It's simply not worth it. Therefor I will only point out the things I disliked. Unprofessionel people at the reception. Room was not cleaned well. There was still stuff of earlier people in the room. Housekeeping forgot pillowcovers and towels multiple times. Pool was closed for a complete day due to some safety tiles that needed to be added to the pool side. In my opinion, this could have been done in less time. Loud radio was played in the pool area. When I addressed this, I was not taken seriously. The sliding door to the balcony has no insulation, resulting in that all outside sounds and noise would come in the room. Internet was almost non existent. Upload and download speeds were less than 0,5 Mbs. Please consider another hotel for a few dollars more. The location is good, thats it. I will never return to this hotel.

    « expectations »

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There wa no way to print out a boarding pass for the airlines which made it inconvenient. The room should be inspected before giving out the room. The tv was not working and the refrigerator was leaking all over the floor.

« Nice location but room was in need of a face lift »

I booked 2 rooms at this hotel for my wife and I and my 2 adult sons. The location was ideal and well placed for getting around. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area was compact but comfortable with free coffee available. Free car parking and an outside pool were also welcome features. Sadly though our experience was somewhat marred by the dreadful condition of the bedroom carpet which looked as though it had been stained from a recent flood or other gross spillage. We were only there for a few days and given the budget price I guess we shouldn't grumble but really, for a little more effort and good maintenance this hotel could have edged it's way into a good review. In addition the breakfast was a an experience to forget with a poor range of cooked products which may please some but not everyone and it was a stressful experience given the small dining room. I couldn't recommend it unless of course they can commit to upgrading one or two of the rooms here and improving the breakfast or removing it altogether. Sorry guys.

« Great location, room just okay »

We stayed at this Best Western for 2 nights. The location is excellent - right across the street from the marina with a few restaurants and others within close walking distance. A quick drive to most places we wanted to go as well. Ample free parking, which is somewhat of a rarity in San Diego hotels. Breakfast was good with several options available (eggs, potatoes, sausage, cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, juices, coffee, etc.) and 2 rooms for seating. There was also coffee service available in the lobby at all times. The room was okay, but not great. It was a decent size, which was nice as we were traveling with our 2 small children. There was a coffeemaker, microwave and (very noisy but efficient) refrigerator. Beds were comfortable. The carpet was filthy and felt almost sticky - our feet were black after walking around barefoot in the room for a bit. Yuck! The air conditioning did not work in our room the first night, which was rather unpleasant given that it was hot out, but they fixed it the next day as soon as we brought it up, which we appreciated. The blackout drapes did not close all the way and had several holes in them, so they weren't terribly efficient. The shower had good water pressure and the shower head was mounted high enough on the wall that you don't have to hunch over to wash your hair, like in many other hotels. The staff was pleasant and courteous. For the price, I'd probably consider staying here again, but wouldn't guarantee it.

« nice hotel, good location »

we stayed in the hotel for a night in a 2 queen beds room. our room had a balcony. very clean hotel, good location close to Harbor and Shelter island; beds are comfortable, the hotel has a business center so we were able to print our e-tickets to the Zoo. A breakfast was above our expectation. Parking is free. there is a 2 level parking structure. definitely we would stay there next time,

    « Great location »

Great location! Good breakfast. Very easy to get to the airport & tons of stuff locally within walking distance. The front desk recommend the brigantine & said he would call ahead & we would receive a free appetizer. Well, he was also supposed to give us a card! Which he didn't. All they said was "sorry"poor customer service but the rest of our stay was great. Tons of parking also!

    « Family Vacation »

We stayed here a few nights. We liked the parking and breakfast. There is not a great selection of restaurants by this hotel. The hotel is not new but clean. The staff is very helpful. We had an issue with the bathtub not draining so they discounted our room and we were able to move to another room. We would recommend this hotel.

    « Great value & GREAT LOCATION »

This is a very convenient and great value hotel located near Point Loma and a few miles from the Convention Center. We came in San Diego for our yearly Comic Con. The staff are very friendly & accommodating. Housekeeping cleans our room everyday. Our room has fridge & microwave. Parking is at the basement of the building & it is FREE. Wi-fi is FREE. FULL breakfast everyday is really really good. Bathroom is clean and nice size room. The location is great from the pick-up/drop-off location of the Comic Con buses.

« Good but could be better »

My family and I stayed at the BW Hotel for one night. The room looked clean but we found some pretzels under the nightstand. We also noticed that the refrigerator on the room made a lot of noise. (Could be a problem if you're a light sleeper). The bathroom was clean but we missed one towel. The breakfast was good and it had a wide variety of breakfast products. The swimming pool in front of the hotel was also very nice.

« Very nice hotel with accommodating staff »

We found this hotel after moving from another dirty hotel. We found it to be very nice. The entrance is very inviting. The staff was super accommodating after I messed up one of my reservations. They just did what ever it took to help us out and at great prices. I let them know my situation and they did the rest. I did not have to ask for stuff, they just knew to take care of it. We we were confident enough when researching this hotel that I brought my newlywed daughter and new son-in-law also. Everyone enjoyed it and it is next to a harbor with great views. There is some normal wear showing but the place is clean. EVERYONE we encountered was helpful and very polite. Very impressed.

    « Concert »

Frankly, I'm not even sure where to begin. We usually enjoy staying in Best Westerns, but we will not be staying here again. When we walked into our room, the carpet was sopping wet as there was a leak coming from the register of the air conditioning. It's hard to believe someone could actually clean the room and not notice. We put a trash can under the drip and I went off to find a maintenance person, which I did & he said he would check it out. Upon our return from dinner & a concert nothing was done. I told the front desk the next morning. When we got back that afternoon the leak was still going on, garbage can still under it but now there was a big floor fan. We called and asked them to remove the fan as we couldn't walk around it. Moving on, the water pressure was weak as was the hair dryer. I think that place is tired and needs an overhaul. I don't normally expect to get compensated but when we checked out I kind of expected more than an "I'm sorry." One last thing, we had to book a 2-day minimum stay, we certainly would have checked out after the first night, but decided to not push it. Our room was #320, beware!

« Great value and GREAT location. »

This was a very nice hotel in the harbor area. Very clean and nice size room. Great full breakfast everyday and nice warm pool. A number of fine restaurants just across the street. Only 1 mile from the airport and just a few miles from all the major attractions. Staff all very friendly and willing to help. Free shuttle to and from the airport works out nice as well. Would stay here again for sure.

« Not near the marina, very small room with no view. »

I booked this room approximately two months prior to my stay for $82 a night. I arrived and found that the hotel not as described on the website. The parking lot was not close to the lobby, and was very inconvenient. The only view from my room was a building, and the room was hot when I arrived, and the thermostat registered in Celsius (and I didn't have my calculator with me). There was no TV remote, and when I looked under the bed I found trash. The room was very small, and had an errant chair that looked like it should have been attached to a desk. Upon check out I was charged double the amount I was originally quoted. The only positive things about this hotel were the lobby staff, and the coffee. This room was definitely not worth $150 a night!

    3
« Bath tub was broken »

The hotel location was 10 min by taxi from airport, and no service from/to airport. Breakfast is simple and enough to me. Reception is not kind. Bath tub was broken in Room 217. I have to wait for over 30min. They can not help.

    « Stayed for 9 nights »

We stayed for 9 nights so I think I can give an in depth review. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. I will say the hotel pics make it look like you are closer than it is. It is actually across the street. We started out on 2nd floor and requested to be moved higher due to the road and pool noise. I think for the area, this is a nice hotel for the value. Here is my eval: Pros Nice location in between downtown and sea world Ample Free parking Quite a few restaurants across the street and a Denny's next door. I recommend Mitch's and the Jimmy's Tavern in the harbor. Good breakfast Very nice staff Large rooms Cons Lower floors have barely any view of harbor. Request 5 or 6. Beds and pillows could use an upgrade Maid left the door to our room open twice as you had to pull it shut. This was very concerning considering there are no safes to store valuables and we were gone all day but the front desk staff seemed as genuinely concerned as I was especially the second time I complained. Good bit of road and pool noise.

    « Wonderful Location »

Nice hotel, clean and quiet, with a wonderful view of the harbor. The hot breakfast was slightly better than normal, so that is a plus. The price fit our budget conscious travels. Our bed was very comfortable.Even being on a busy street and near the airport, it was quiet enough to sleep.

« best location and affordable rate..friendly staff »

if your looking for a budget friendly but with excellent service...this is the best in point Loma. San Diego has tons of hotel but this one is special. They don't have the glamour of 5 star hotel chains. but the service and location is excellent! Stayed in the 6th floor and the view is amazing.

    3
« Standard Best Western, but beds not comfortable »

This is what you expect in this hotel chain. No surprises in the rooms, it's clean and good as usual. However a few things didn't work out for me. The hotel is quite noisy, next to the road and the airport.... Expect to hear planes landing or taking off, or motorbikes and trucks. The fridge in the room is also noisy, and there is a kind of timer that makes a clocking noise all the time on the fridge. That adds up to the noise from outside. I had only 3 towels for 4 people. The beds are not comfortable. I know I'm sensitive, but I choose to go to hotels mostly for sleeping, so if that time doesn't help me to rest well.... I woke up with my back hurting. You can feel the springs or joints of the mattress. I wouldn't come again for these 2 main reasons : comfort and noise.

    5
« FRIENDLY STAFF, CLEAN, EXCELLENT SERVICE »

With regards of the staff, very professional, friendly and cared for your needs. The hotel was very well kept, clean, and odor free. Some issues with the room, like balcony door not sliding freely, water pressure and temperature fluctuated, pages missing on the guest guide, besides this, Great Hotel, that is the reason why while in San Diego I only stay at the Yacht Harbor.

    « Weekend Getaway »

Good value. Girls weekend getaway. Comfortable beds, free parking and wifi, free breakfast. Staff was very courteous. TV was not working and maintenance had it fixed within 15 on a Friday evening. Easy location to get around from. Will definitely recommend to friends and stay here again myself.

« Nice Hotel, Good location »

This was a nice place to stay for a couple of nights. It was convenient to the airport. The facility has a pleasant pool which was nice after a hot afternoon of sight seeing. The room had a balcony overlooking a marina. The mini fridge was noisy, but we just unplugged it to stop the noise. Also the bed was way too soft as seems to be the trend in hotels now. There were restaurants close by that you could walk to. A couple right across the street too. Ample parking, some undergound so your car stays cool.

    4
    « Good hotel, barring the mini-fridges »

I stayed two nights on a trip with friends, and it was a really positive experience. I especially appreciated the airport shuttle, which was free and nice. Helpful, pleasant staff. I also had friends staying at the same hotel, so I had a chance to see several rooms and get feedback from multiple people in our group. The pool looked nice, but we were too busy to use it. It does border right on a busy road, so while you can see the harbor from the pool, there is also nothing resembling privacy, and it isn't very quiet for relaxing. Kids wanting to play in a pool won't care. Some of the rooms are definitely bigger than others. I had a cheaper king sized bed room without a harbor view, and it was small but not cramped. There was one of those thin desks next to the TV, and night stands on either side of the bed, but no room for other furniture in the room. The mini fridge was also in the closet by the bathroom sink, but the room with the shower and toilet was actually quite spacious. Everything was clean. There was a ton of road noise in my room starting while it was still dark out, even though I was at the floor second from the top. It's just a really busy road. At the advice of other reviewers I brought earplugs, and that solved everything. My friend had a king size bed room with a harbor view, and it was huge! Tons of free space, both at the end of the bed to the opposite wall, and to either side of the bed. There were spare chairs for sitting, and the mini fridge was out in the room with the bed and TV, etc. Needless to say, we hung out in their room at the end of the day. Bathrooms were pretty much exact copies (just without the fridge needing to be in the closet for the bigger room). Location was my favorite part. Walking distance to the harbor. Walking distance to great restaurants and bars. Walking distance to Shelter Island. Cheap Uber to downtown and sightseeing. The pizza place across the street had delicious food and a wonderfully priced happy hour. The breakfast is fine, it's better than some free places. There's real food, like eggs, yogurt, milk, juice and fruit. Also the usual cereal and bagels. Don't bother waiting for the pancakes. They take forever and they're tiny. If you want pancakes walk across the street to a restaurant. The fridges were terrible. I was travelling with medicine that needed to be kept refrigerated, but not frozen, and I couldn't get the fridge to stay below 60 F but above freezing. The fridge was old, the controls were terrible, and the whole thing had no setting between off and high. I would highly recommend management invest in new mini fridges next time there's a Black Friday sale or something. Or at least a few spare good ones you can swap around when a guest has medication - even the concierge didn't have access to a better fridge, and I'd called ahead to make sure I would have this taken care of. Because I was travelling with medication, and I'm not sure my medication was ruined, I was really stressed out by this aspect of my trip. This could be a life or death matter for other guests with more important medicine. I would trust the current fridges to chill a drink, not even keep leftovers food-safe. Shoutout to the concierge staff, who let us microwave our leftovers in the breakfast room after checkout and did their best to try and keep my medication refrigerated. They tried.

« GREAT Location and Service »

This hotel was perfect for a trip to San Diego. Close to everything and an easy drive to the major sites like the USS Midway, Zoo, beaches, museums, etc. Free parking made it a good choice over the downtown hotels. Rooms are a little small, but certainly larger than most European/other countries' hotel rooms. If you do San Diego right, you are not in your room very much! Pricing was reasonable for the location and season. Room was clean and decor nice. The staff went over and above to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Daniel was superior! The "promenade" right next to the docks across the street was a great AM and PM walking place...walk all the way to Shelter Island and beyond. Good restaurants along the way. We are long-term Best Western travelers and this hotel was a great choice. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Perfect for me »

Came to San Diego for a wedding. Spent lots of time sight seeing in between functions for the wedding. Clean beds, clean bathroom, excellent breakfast buffet! The beds were comfortable, heavy curtains to keep out the light during our time adjustment was helpful when sleeping. Maids were professional and flexible with room cleaning times. Other staff was profession but less friendly. In a busy part of town with traffic noise, iffy wifi. We weren't in the room much but it was exactly what I was looking for: Clean, and comfortable with a bonus of great breakfast.

    3
    « Hard Beds »

The mattresses were extremely hard, the room was musty, the A/C didn't function properly. The evening staff was mediocre, the morning staff was super. The location was awesome, but the hotel could use some attention.

« Reasonable for a short business trip. Terrible breakfast »

Very uninterested staff. Really the bare hotel essentials. Vending machine one floor down. Room itself not bad. Harnor view turmed out correct, if you looked through the steps of the fire stairs in front of the balcony. Breakfast was absolute rubbish. Alsmost painful

    « Good Value - Great Location »

I needed to find a hotel at the last minute and all my usual places were full so after looking around I chose to stay here. It was the same price as the Motel 6 and is a proper hotel so I decided to book. It's in a great location close to restaurants and bars and had ample parking. Room was nice and spacious, clean and had a large fridge and all the other amenities you would expect. Nice to have a proper air conditioning and not just a box placed in the corner. Parking was free and so was the internet although calling it high speed is pushing it a bit.

    4
« Nice for the price »

Traveling with a group of 13 people for a one night stay in San Diego. We had made reservations through a third party site, and the price was very reasonable. We had zero problems with our reservation and check-in, and they had no problem with providing us with four rooms on the same floor close together. We liked the location across from the harbor, and the short distance from some of the area attractions. The rooms were small, but comfortable, and there were a couple of restaurants right across the street. Parking was included, as was a small breakfast...which was wonderful with 4 small kiddos. The pool area is "no-frills", but it was clean and the kids loved it. Overall, it is a nice option for a family on a budget staying in the area.

  • 4
« Ok for the price. »

Stayed here for the location. Clean rooms with free parking. Breakfast was decent and it's close to supermarket, restaurants and the have. Only downfall was the Wi-Fi.... Not highspeed as mentioned kids weren't happy about that.

« Great Location, Small Room, Slow Wi-Fi! »

Location, location, location! This hotel is great for that alone. Right across the street from the yacht harbor and Point Loma Naval Base. We hit no less than 4 tourist destinations in the San Diego area and spent maybe an hour total in commute over a 4 day trip. I can't say enough about this location! The rooms are small and the hotel itself is clearly a bit older but everything was clean and the hotel breakfast was acceptable. The pool is tiny and the hot tub was overrun with kids and pool toys when we stayed so we didn't get a chance to check that out but Mission Beach is a 15 minute drive away so who really needs a pool? Only beef was the slow wi-fi! It was pretty pointless, we just used our data plan after the first day. This hotel also has those weird cloth shower curtains with no liner that seem to be so popular in mid-range chains these days so don't slip and die when you get out of the shower.

    4
    « A good value and location »

We wanted to stay close to the attractions in San Diego we enjoy without paying too much. This was the perfect choice for us. The rooms are clean, showers are nice, beds are comfortable, and the staff is good. An added bonus, free parking and internet that works. There are nice walking areas and restaurants in walking distance, and getting to areas you want to visit in the area is easy. For San Diego, this is nice and reasonable. We are highly likely to return!

    4
« Clean and Comfy stay »

The help was great, very attentive and weren't intrusive. Breakfast was pretty decent considering it was included n price of stay and parking was free too! The location was great, although a little drive from the 8 and 5 interstates (fun drive thought town) the entertainment scene was very close. The beaches were plenty and not very far from this location also.

    4
« Good for the price »

Good for the price and is a good location near the Marina which was nice to walk to. Would stay again for the price but I don't mind your average clean hotel room but if you need something better maybe not for you.

« Great hotel for a great price! »

This is a great hotel for a great price! Clean, friendly, and pretty views! It is very nice and quiet for being by an airport. Chris in the lobby goes above and beyond and is very accommodating! I will be coming back, and highly recommend this hotel over the others! Excellent location and an excellent price!

    « Good value hotel »

Nice hotel. Breakfast is 3of 5 but coffee is 0 of 5. The rooms are clean and the overall feeling is that it os just beginning to show some signs of age. The hot rub and pool is a nice addition but it is on the street and noisy. The parking is world class self parking.

« Beautiful View Of Harbor »

Nice view that is it the staff was not friendly at all, when we came in the staff acted like what the hell do you want, all they cared about was did we have a reservation well sorry to say we did, would have rather stayed at a no tell motel, the room was dirty and needs updates the cost for a place to sleep was awful for such a dump the view was the only good thing about this hotel,so save your money sleep in your car. Will never stay in a Best Western Again.

    « Great night stay »

Landed late in San Diego and chose the hotel and what a nice place to stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and continental breakfast had a good variety. Underground parking was easy and safe. Highly recommended if you need a place close to the airport.

« Location Location Shelter Island »

Great Location across from yacht harbor. Free parking and most room have a view. Breakfast is a little more than continental and bed mattress was really GREAT. Staff are very helpful. Easily can walk to many restaurants within a quarter mile and a very scenic walk. The main street the hotel is on is a little busy in the early morning but again the value of the hotel is tops.

    « Booked through Expedia »

We had a upcoming weeding in S.D. in June, so I booked a room through Expedia because it was the best price that I could find. The room was booked in April and not last minute. So the weekend of the weeding we went to check in and was very surprised with the room they gave us. It was on the first floor next to the elevator, lobby, vending machine, maids storage area, maintenance room, and breakfast room! Did I mention it was a handy cap room, we had no bath tub or shower, the door to the bathroom was a very heavy pocket door (see attached pics), not sure how a handy cap/older person, would be able to even close this door. The carpet was filthy, and the AC was not working, the maintenance man did come by and fix the AC, we were very grateful for that. I asked if they could move us to a different room and the staff the refused, they stated that because we had booked through Expedia, we were essentially stuck in that room. I would never stay here again, by the way the room number 110.

    « Lovely hotel »

Stayed her for a couple of nights and it was very comfortable. Rooms were huge and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the marina. Pool area was nice and caught the sun most of the day. Breakfast was good and included; bagels, cereal, yogurts, eggs and the amazing bagel toppers!! Location is a little out of the main area and you would need to drive in. We booked the trolley tour with old town trollies and they have a pick up service that picks you up from the liquor store in the hotel next door which is very convenient. Would stay here again if in the area.

    5
« Great Value, great bed, nice place »

If you want a hotel that is a great value, is very clean, has a great bed, and is in a very convenient location in San Diego, look no further. We stayed here 7 nights. My only complaint the whole time was that the comp'd breakfast needs some kind of meat (bacon, etc). Everything else - no complaints. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    5
    « Great location »

Great location with a great view. The room was clean and comfortable. Free parking, which is a big plus. Friendly staff. All round a good experience. Never used many of the on site facilities but the pool looked clean if not rather small for a hotel of its size.

I needed to stay two nights in San Diego as my daughter was in a training class for her summer job. Decided to try a location not on Hotel Circle Drive and unfortunately for me it was Memorial Day Weekend so pricing was very high. Found this location and decided to give it a try. Arrived at 6 PM, room was ready - fast check in. Room was 118 on the first floor overlooking the parking area. Upon entry the carpet was horrible... Very dirty and stained. Overall the rest of the room - while small and compact was clean. I had what looked like a handicapped room based on the bathroom layout and wide door BUT a wheelchair would never fit to get to the bed... the bed was a double which I knew when I booked it but it was a very small room. TV with lots of stations worked great, WiFi was a very good connection, free parking was ample and the breakfast was very good. Would I stay here again - probably not as there is nothing walking distance from the hotel.

This hotel is near the airport .....easy to get to and from downtown and the beaches. There are plenty of places to eat. Across the street is a nice sit down place at the Yacht harbor area. Perfect to relax away from the fast paced downtown area. The bus stop is directly across the street and for $5 you can get an all day pass to transportation throughout San Diego. I mean it is so easy to leave the car at hotel and enjoy the freedom of transporting throughout the area without worry of where to park and traffic. Free parking and nice breakfast at hotel too. Nice rooms with balconies and friendly staff! Price was great for big city hotels.

« Some check in issues, overall average stay »

I'm writing this review months after my visit, so details are a little hazy. I arrived to San Diego early in the day from my flight. A room was not available yet, that was fine, I entertained myself walking around the area. When I came back, they had a room available on the fourth floor. However, I opened the door (the key worked) and the TV was on, suitcases were open everywhere. I didn't notice if there was anyone in the room, I immediately turned around and went back downstairs. So after the initial screw-up, giving me a room that was ALREADY occupied, they placed me on the second floor. Now, this is not a fancy hotel, so you gotta try and take all the perks you can get, right? I asked for a room higher up (to try and get somewhat of a view), but they said they had nothing else available. So... I got downgraded for them giving me a room they had already given to someone else. The room was not only on the second floor, it was next to the elevators and the "balcony" was immediately over the parking lot. My friend at one point was able to climb up the balcony into the room from the parking lot. Less than ideal. The location wasn't too bad, Ubers were cheap to the Gaslamp district, but overall it's not really centrally located. Stay here if you have your own car, or don't mind using Uber everywhere... otherwise, it's not very close to any public transportation.

« Bit far from the action. »

We stayed here for one night and it was a pleasant enough stay. The service was really good and the check in quick. Our room had a balcony but our view was spoiled by a fire escape, unlucky with our room allocation again. The room however was a good size and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, there was a fridge and air conditioning. The bathroom facilities were very good and the room was clean and tidy. The breakfast in the morning was fine. You can have a nice walk round the harbour to view the boats. On the downside it is a bit away from downtown San Diego meaning we had to drive back in, also the road outside is popular for noisy car drivers an night and a busy road in the morning. A good quality hotel, handy for the seafarers but a bit far out for tourists.

« Good hotel with friendly service »

I stayed here for 6 nights. The room was clean, comfortable, and room. The complimentary breakfast include a wide variety of items to select from. I really enjoyed having a balcony to sit on in the morning while drinking my coffee and in the evening to watch the sunset. All staff members were friendly and helpful. This is a very good hotel at a reasonable rate.

    « Not Bad »

Pros: good location, clean rooms, nice staff, descent internet Cons: breakfast, street noise, older property Overall experience was a pleasant stay. No issues at check-in with front desk very helpful. The room and common areas appeared clean. I would consider staying here again.

« Centrally located for tourists »

this hotel is located across from the harbor. It is down the street from the airport and minutes away from where you take the Harbor cruises. Last year we stayed here when we went on the Hornblower dinner cruise and this year we stayed here to attend our daughter-in-law's graduation from San Diego City College. You can go jogging near the harbor. One advantage is that it is not a huge hotel. The breakfast could be improved on by adding sausage or bacon. The pancake machine stopped working. Most Best Westerns have waffle machines. The bathroom area is very small and the rooms could use new carpeting. The yacht harbor side is more noisy but it didn't keep us awake.

    « Just average »

Located in a great area, but many concerns: WiFi very poor at times - room was on the small side - very busy and noise road right outside - breakfast disappointing - housekeeping staff never greeted at all, not even a smile or hello.

« Best Western Yacht Harbor »

Everyone was very nice to us. The breakfast area was clean and lots of food. The wi-fi was easy to get on my computer and I loved all the cable channels, HBO, and all the others channels. Parking is free which is great plus the shuttle to the port. We took a cruise and they have a free shuttle to pick and drop us off. All the things we need! Nice to have Wi-Fi and free breakfast and free parking. Thank you so much.

« Close to the SD Airport/ Stay Park and Fly »

Every time we fly out of San Diego we stay at this hotel. We have not had any issues with any rooms we have stayed in. However, I have heard some are displeased with some of the rooms. It appears some rooms need a little TLC. We recently stayed on the top floor over looking the harbor. Gorgeous views. The continental breakfast is wonderful for those getting up early the next morning to fly out. We park at the hotel and leave our car while we are gone (for free up to 10 days or so, possibly more?). When you get back you can get the shuttle to pick you up from the airport (if it is running), as well as take the shuttle to the airport which is just few mins away. We had to take a cab from the airport back to the hotel the last time we stayed here, the shuttle had stopped running for the day. If I recall it was only $13 and the hotel reimbursed us when we got to the hotel for the inconvenience of not having their shuttle available. There is a few nice restaurants just across the street. If we stay here on Sunday we usually head over to the Bali Hai restaurant on shelter island. REALLY good food. We will continue to stay here whenever we fly out of San Diego.

« Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel San Diego »

Good hotel near the airport - they have free shuttle. We arrived late at night and very friendly staff directed us to a 24 hour Dennys a couple of blocks away as we hadn't eaten. Quiet and safe streets. Good breakfast but no cup of tea! WiFi in room was fast. Good place to stay for the price if you have to overnight in San Diego.

« Away from the town centre, but good value for money »

Our room was fine, with a balcony overlooking the car park. We had paid for a view of the harbour, so were a bit upset that we could only see a tiny bit of the harbour if we stretched our necks to the left and looked past the buildings opposite. We found out at the end of our stay that we had been put in the wrong room, so we were reimbursed the additional cost of a harbour view room. The bed was comfy, the wifi was good and we enjoyed the breakfast. We didn't see the 'overflow' breakfast room until our last morning, so this would have avoided the overcrowding in the main room - better signs needed, I think! We had a car, so it was no problem to drive into town, but it is too far to walk into the town centre from here. There is a supermarket a short walk away and good restaurants just over the road, so there is no need for a car to eat.

    « San Diego Trip »

We stayed two nights at the BW Yacht Harbor. The hotel is convenient to several local attractions (uss midway, belmont park, san diego zoo etc) and near the airport. The room was clean and had a little balcony overlooking the parking lot. Breakfast in the morning was typical hotel food (bacon, waffles, cereal, etc). I had trouble printing out tickets in the business center but the front desk was very friendly and helpful!

    « Needs TLC »

First of all we didn't realize how far away from downtown are the hotel was. What we saved in hotel costs was eaten away by cab fares. The hotel itself is older and has been partially remodeled. On the second night there I stepped into the bathroom around 11:00 at night and found the bath mat soaking wet. Since I was half asleep didn't realize the it was due to the water dripping out of the light fixture onto my head. I quickly called the front desk and asked to be moved to another room. I should have asked to be moved upon arrival when I did notice the mold above the shower so apparently there had been a previous leak. The second room was ok. Some of the staff are very cordial and helpful like Chris, others don't even greet you when then pass you in the hallway. Breakfast offered is a bit unusual, not at all to our liking. Half a bagel with some sort of egg topping, bacon so thin and greasy over cooked . If you want to be within walking distance of the pier, museums, Little Italy then this is not the best location.

« Good hotel for the price with a nice view. »

We stayed here last month for a few days and I feel that the next time we are in San Diego this will be our go to hotel. The price was decent compared to the other rooms and the quality was better than a lot of the other nearby hotels. Our room was on the 4th floor. And the only issue I had with the room was that the heater/air conditioning made noise. Luckily, the weather was amazing that weekend so we completely shut it off. Breakfast in the morning is good with decent choices and the little "bagel toppers" are yummy. The hotel held out luggage on Sunday and the only downside about this was that it was on the side of the desk open for any one to walk up to it and take. When we came back to retrieve our luggage no one was at the desk to see us take our stuff. The hotel was very accommodating in the fact that when we arrived on Friday the shuttle was off running people around town and it would be 30-40 min before he could get to us. They offered for us to take a cab and they reimbursed us. The view from our room of the harbor was gorgeous and I loved watching the sun set over the boats. Downtown, Sea World, Balboa/the Zoo, Old Town, the beach, etc were all a short Uber/Lyft ride away which was nice.

« Not bad, decent value »

Booked this hotel because it was close to Point Loma University. The location is in an area that looks to be in a revitalization area. It's an older property, they have done what they can to bring the property up to date. The hotel is clean, the view of the harbor is nice, but it's from across a 4 lane street and parking lot, so it's not as if you are right on the harbor. However, for the price, it's a fine spot to hang your hat for a day or so. The street quiets down at night and we had a restful sleep. Everything else was standard Best Western. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Parking was free.

    « Great Hotel, »

We just spend one night here prior to a cruise. We had an excellent price, free shuttle from the airport and also to the cruise port. The hotel is within walking distance of several places to eat. I believe all the room have balconies. We had a small frig, coffee maker, microwave. The bathroom had a bar to help getting in and out of the tub if needed. Everything was very clean. The employees were nice and helpful. The breakfast was not huge, but more than sufficient. If I would go on another cruise out of San Diego, I would stay at the Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel again.

« LOUSY ACCOMMONDATIONS, NASTY FOOD, RUDE MANAGERS. »

My sons sub returned form deployment, we book at the hotel due to the location to the base. I had a terrible experience, the food made me sick, the toilet was broken and the air did not work. maintenance was in our room every day. I complained to the manager, he told me the next time I was in town he would give me a good rate. Well, I called for him(sky), no longer there. I called back 6 times, the phone rang 16 times, 23 times, 3 messages and 1 voice mail. today I was connected to Jorge and asked the current manager Jorge for the same "good rate": The desk clerk quoted me a rate of 168.00 a night, the web site says 119.00. Jorge said Why are you calling me, I don't make reservations. Explained why, then he told me they are sold out. Really?

« Good Value near Downtown San Diego »

This Best Western Hotel is a Nice Clean Hotel across from the harbor and very close to downtown San Diego, CA. This was a business trip for a trade show at the San Diego Convention Center. Only an 8 minute drive to the Center. Hotel was a Very Good Value with free parking and free breakfast too.

« Good Place to Stay by the Airport »

Nice hotel for the price. Convenient to the airport and harbor. I have stayed here quite a few times in the last couple of years. The rooms are clean and quiet. I will continue to stay here as long as the rates stay comparable to other hotels in the vicinity.

    « Nice »

Very comfortable, huge room, free WiFi and parking. Only thing missing was a movie channel. Just over 1 mile from the airport. Breakfast included, coffee in the lobby all day. Microwave, fridge, iron, ironing board, hair dryer. Harbor directly across the street. Would definitely stay again

    4
« Good for the price and value »

Breakfast included was typical but good and plentiful, coffee offered all day was a plus. Apples in lobby all day. Room was clean and nice. Bed was good. I had no issues. The view was ok, but if I would have had a higher room it would have been nicer, but it was still a balcony and I could see water. Close by restaurants, and easy to get to places. Good parking. Too bad elevators do not go from parking, but understand why not. Good trip and value.

« Memorable San Diego vacation »

Excellent hotel property located in a great location near the water and harbor. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the marina and harbor. Clean and updated. Even though it is located close to the airport the large commercial jets are taking off and landing in a different direction. We experienced very little airport noise. The hotel is within a 15 minute drive to most sight seeing venues. Ample free hotel parking. Be sure to allow all day to see the Midway and make sure to make a trip to Point Loma as well as Ocean, Pacific, and LaJolla beaches.

    « Very good hotel »

We stayed only one night at Best Western Harbor Hotel. The staff very very friendly, the room is clean, and the breakfast was definitely very convenient. Not the best restaurant one, but good enough to start your day right. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends or family.

    « It was "okay" »

This is a BW which sure didn't feel like a BW...it was missing the "comfort" factor of really caring staff... I can only say that there was never anything which was really "wrong" with things...but there was always a little something which didn't seem to feel just "right". We seemed to have to ask for every little thing, rather than the staff offering, as one normally sees with BW...the room was adequate, and seemed clean enough...but there were no instructions on what channels were available on the TV - or what process to use for using the phone to call locally... The bed was "okay" but felt tired, as did the pillows... The morning breakfast, was...okay...but I have to confess, tasteless...the eggs seemed to be plastic with an odd texture. The pancakes [my second option on day two] were...okay...but almost devoid of taste...thank goodness for a liberal layer of jam. Let's just say, I've eaten better motel breakfasts - everywhere else... We did get an extended stay with a late check-out, as we had a late afternoon flight, and we were given a complimentary shuttle to the airport...but, caution - this seems to only be available during the day shift...sounds like in the evening, you are on your own... Not much for eating around the hotel, but we managed to find a couple of decent places, so didn't go hungry... This is not a bad place...just don't make your expectations too high...it's "okay"

    « Great View »

Stayed here for 2 nights. It's a great value, and the view of the harbor was fantastic. Everyone was nice. The property is dated, but it is clean and well maintained. Did not use the pool, but it looked clean.

« Great Place to Stay »

The Yacht Harbor Hotel is a great place to stay. It's a great location, and the views are excellent and the staff is great. Breakfast is over the top. Not a continental breakfast. The rooms and balconies overlooking the port is one of the most attractive features of the property and sets it apart from the rest.

« Could do better next time »

First off, if you are looking for a hotel near the airport, there are plenty of options. We will certainly stay at another hotel next time we have an early flight out. We were so surprised to find that the complimentary airport shuttle only runs between 9am and 5pm. That pretty much leaves anyone with an early flight or evening flight paying $15 each way in cab fare. We also, were put in a handicap room right off the main lobby and directly next to the pool. There was a small loud party with heavy drinking going on right outside our sliding door. Even though the pool area closed at 10pm, the hotel allowed them to stay out there. Not sure why we were given this room, since we had booked well in advance. Room had dated furniture and a lot of stains on the carpet. The good thing about this hotel was the location to good restaurants across the street.

    4
    « Close to water »

Nice hotel. Great staff. Very friendly. Nice pool and hot tub. Free parking that is very rare in California. Good breakfast that is free. Free wi fi. Rooms over look harbour. Across the street from some great restaurants.

    « Clean. Convenient. Comfortable. »

Room was clean. Location convenient. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed balcony with view of harbor. Small pool was fine to cool off late afternoon. Easy parking. Breakfast was average continental fare. Friendly staff. Efficient airport shuttle. Harbor Drive can be busy and some traffic noise can be heard in the room.

    « I'll Be Back »

I hadn't found a hotel that I really enjoyed in this area so I gave this place a try. Everything was very nice. The room was especially clean which of course is enjoyable. It's not far from the freeway or the airport. I did find the room to be a bit on the small side, glad I was on my own. I had breakfast three times. It was just OK. There was no meat two of the days which was disappointing. But for the location I'll try it again.

    4
« Convenient to the Airport »

We stayed at this hotel because we needed to stay overnight before the next part of the vacation. This hotel has an airport shuttle and they are reasonably prices which is why we decided to stay there. The room was larger than expected and there was a refrigerator in the room which was nice because we could store the leftovers from dinner. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was adequate. There was an automated pancake machine that made the smallest pancakes I have ever seen. On order was 2 pancakes the size of a half dollar. They were good but small. The staff was friendly, competent and willing to please. We would stay there again.

  • 3
« No issues this time »

Got the room I reserved this time around. No issues. Parking is good compared to neighboring hotel. Quick checkout but not sure I got receipt in my email yet from a week ago. Easy access to the Marina. The hallway had a better view than the room. Seems a bit overpriced but that was likely because of a special event in the neighborhood.

    4
    « Solid hotel choice »

This is a solid hotel choice for a short stay in San Diego. The hotel shuttle was convenient and quick, the room was clean and comfortable with great views of the harbor, and the pool was warm and clean. The breakfast was above average with plenty of healthy and tasty options. There are also some great seafood restaurant options within walking distance.

    « Does the job.... »

We stayed 7 days, visiting San Diego. Overall appearance: tired and needs renovating. Exterior needs painting. Location: was good. You are a maximum of 12 minutes from the zoo, downtown, and Midway. Less to Seaworld, the airport and Mission Beach. Then there are 5 or 6 restaurants within easy walking distance. Check- in: painless and quick. Plus plenty of free undercover parking. Room: smell of smoke, and are a little on the small side. Breakfast: no complaints, both hot and cold, plus plenty of seating. Coffee and apples in reception 24/7. Service: well, housekeeping " forgot " to clean the room. Twice. When reception were told, the 2 ladies made excuses, and asked if I knew not to put the "do not disturb" sign out??? What happened to the customer is right? Really irritating! When I asked the housekeeper, Lupe by name, she could not explain her "forgetfulness". I think she intentionally avoids doing the room, hoping the guests won't bother to complain! Overall, great location, indifferent service.

    5
« Excellent location , excellent customer care, excellent weather, all As in short!! (not E) »

We chose this hotel for location of our primary tourist target (Seaworld that must be reached anyway by car), nice location (in front of port), positive reviews (not all but a safely high number) plus the reception had an included service of postal deposit (of max 5 packages whatever courier or usps as delivery). There is an 'underground' parking where place the vehicle and operations of check in at desk were swift and nice. Nice idea at tables placed in hall to offer some fresh apples from baskets (a reminder of the famous barrel of apples for seamen during the sail age to avoid nasty diseases from lack of vitamins? who knows?) There are right outside the entrance a warmed pool and a warmer but tiny (3mt as size and 1,3mt as depth) hot tub to relax for customers. I was unable to use them to tight schedule but since i tried before BW ' services days before in Page and La verkin I have no doubt that were the same as quality and ability to relieve stress from long trips by car/RV. The breakfast included in the service is nice (there are two rooms at floor level to look) and offer usual continental breakfast like cereals, eggs, sausages, yogurt in mini refrigerators, apple/rasin juices and some milk/2% milk, able to fill you enough until lunch (4-5 hours later) Regarding the room we had refrigerator and microweave oven, a pretty decent (well sometimes at morning not so stellar) wi-fi services to keep contact with outside world by smartphones and a window view of port piers just outside the road (plus at around 7.30 AM every time the Hymn of United States announced some minutes before by a trump in the I believe nearby military outpost ) All in all an excellent place (location location location) with also nearby wild parrots at plam trees nearby and a sunny time always (except first hours of morning due to humidity fog), we couldn't ask for better place to stay in such nice place at san diego and we hope to stay a little more next time.

    4
    « Leisure »

The hotel was very clean. Beds were comfy and a lot of pillows. The rooms were on the small side but met our needs. Parking was free and plenty of spots. Breakfast was ok. The usual: eggs, muffins, yogurt, toast, bagels, and juice. We would stay here again :)

    3
    « Average stay »

Hotel is right at the harbor but harbor restaurants and bars are always full so you may not get any of it. We paid a few extra bucks for harbor view but given a room from the second floor which was more like a "road view" rather than harbor view. My wish for a room at higher floors was denied. Children at the pool were really noisy until about 8 pm, but rest was cosy, tranquil time. Location is good, especially if you use the airport which is very close -we were driving anyway. Free parking and a closed parking area is really nice but you need to take a few steps up to carry your bags from parking lot to hotel. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, usual easy breakfast. Walking from the hotel to the city takes way more than an hour but a very nice walk on the coastline. Overall, it was an average stay. Can not say bad at all, but not even close to the best either.

    4
« Convenient with free parking »

The hotel was clean; the view of the harbor was nice from our room; and the front desk staff were helpful in suggesting sites and restaurants near the hotel. The hotel was convenient to the sites we wanted to visit and the airport and included free parking, free internet, and a free breakfast (not the best breakfast, but adequate for our needs). I would definitely stay here again. They have a shuttle to the airport, but only within certain hours.

    5
« Nice place in San Diego »

We had never been to San Diego and we were not even sure where to stay except we knew we didn't want downtown. We picked Best Western out of our travel book and were not disappointed. Only thing we were sorry about is that we had a king sized bed which took up most of the room. After traveling all day, it would have been nice to have had some extra space. So note to self: ask for a queen size with a sofa. Much more comfortable. Very clean and the people very nice. Good breakfast too which saves a lot of time in the morning. The hot coffee waiting in the lobby and bowl of apples was a nice touch.

    « Great Location »

Have stayed here several times. It is always relaxing and the staff is very professional and always makes us feel welcome. Good location with easy access to freeway. Bedroom good size. We enjoy the separation of bathroom sink and shower/tub/toilet. Excellent bed with good night stands and reading lights. Good TV. Breakfast consisted of bacon, eggs, pancakes, cereal, sweet rolls, toast, bagels, jelly, butter, orange, apple, cranberry juices, milk, coffee, and bananas Nice eating room plus another overflow room. Kitchen hostess very nice. Loved the apples and drinks in the lobby 24/7. We have stayed on Shelter Island several times but keep coming back to this Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel as they make us so welcome.

« Great for Smokers; Bad for Non-Smokers »

We loved the view. Breakfast was good. Room was clean. Staff was professional. But the ventilation fans blew cigarette smoke into our non-smoking room 611 from neighboring smoking rooms. Strong odor. Very annoying to non-smokers.

    « Dissapointed »

This property is nicely decorated, staff extremely helpful, attached garage a plus, good breakfast but we paid extra to stay in a harbor-facing room. We were in a non-smoking room on the 4th floor but when we returned from dinner and opened our balcony door, the person on the balcony next to ours was smoking. I called the front desk and was told the hotel allows occupants in non-smoking rooms to smoke on their balcony with the stipulation they close the door to the room. I assume they expect all other occupants to keep their doors closed so they are not charged for ?smoking? in the rooms because if we hadn't kept our door closed, our room would have certainly smelled like smoke. Our neighbors stayed on the balcony smoking and talking until very early in the morning. The other problem was the traffic is very noisy and Harbor Drive is a very busy street.

« Good value hotel nice location »

This hotel was very good value it offered a good breakfast selection every morning and the rooms were spacious with all necessities. There was a small pool out the front of the hotel which was nice to relax at there was also a jacozzi there too. The pool area was quiet small so wouldn't fit too many people 10 max probably. The hotel was in a nice location just outside of San Diego by the harbour. There were nice restaurants across the road from the hotel. Would definitely go back.

« Nice for the price »

Our hotel stay was good. It started off rocky when I checked in. They had me reserved in a King Marina room. I booked 2 Queens through another site. They told me I was incorrect. Luckily I had my confirmation email to prove my room choice. They were fully booked so they had to scramble to find me a marina view room with 2 queen beds. I was given room 201. I wouldn't quite call it a marina view. If you lean out the balcony and look right, you can see the tops of a few boats. Also, room 201 is right next to an exit door that is super heavy and would slam randomly all night, shaking our entire room. Other than these issues, the hotel was good. The breakfast was actually quite good, several hot items to chose from. The pool was warm (which my son loved). I loved that the shower had excellent water pressure, no more standing under a trickle of water trying to wash my hair. The sink area could be bigger, but it's not a deal breaker. The wifi is useless. We never could connect. While we did not visit them, the marina across the street has several restaurants. We walked past and they were both pretty full on a Sunday evening. I'm assuming that means they are decent places to eat. The hotel is in a great location. We were there for 3 days and went to many attractions without ever having to get on the freeway. Overall, I would recommend the hotel.

    4
    « Great Location »

We stayed here for our trip in March 2016. The hotel is close enough to the airport and Downtown San Diego to be out of the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to be convenient to them and to the area beaches. The price was reasonable and the service was great. They do offer a complimentary breakfast that is pretty good, but could use improvement. The rooms are clean and the cleaning staff was right on top of the rooms every single day. There is ample free parking as well. the noise level was a bit loud at times, but was overall acceptable. We sat by the pool a few times for some down time, but didn't swim as the water was not very clear. All-in-all, we had a pleasant stay and the service from the front desk was better than my average experience in other places. They are very accommodating. Also, their Free Wi-Fi actually worked.... I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others planning on staying in the San Diego area.

« Great S. Diego location, great harbor view, staff need improvement »

Great S. Diego location next to airport, great harbor view, and many restaurants you can walk to. All staff are mexicans, more diversity would do this Best Western some good. Better "Systems" needed by management for staff. Great breakfast but very crowded in AM.

« Best Western Yatch Harbor hotel »

Noticed bed bugs and loud noise of the ice maker and vending machines,. Get a room that is not across either a vending machine or Ice maker. End up switching room so that we can get some sleep. But we noticed bed bugs in the new room allotted.

« Great Location and Friendly Staff »

Stayed here for 3 nights at the tail-end of a business/leisure trip. We chose a 2 Queen Beds, Harbor View, Balcony room. Our room faced Harbor Drive and had a beautiful view! Definitely recommend paying a little extra for the rooms on the south side of the building. The check-in process was painless and the front desk staff was extremely friendly. They immediately asked if we had a car with us so that they could provide us with a free parking pass for the attached parking garage. Free parking is somewhat rare in San Diego and can add quite a bit to your trip costs. This was one of the many reasons we chose this hotel for our stay. The room was very clean, had a decent sized balcony and also included a microwave and mini-fridge. The free wifi connection was also very fast and we didn't experience any connectivity issues during our stay. The hotel included a free breakfast each morning that included eggs, bagels, pastries, cereal, yogurt, pancakes and even fresh fruit. Definitely was more than enough to get you going in the morning! The only real issue that we had with our stay (and it was mentioned in a survey that was sent to us) was that the patio doors/windows seem to be lacking proper soundproofing. With the pool pretty much right below our room (we were on the 4th floor near the center of the building), you could hear everything going on in that area. I'm not sure if people were actually being that loud, or if the sound was just echoing off of the building. Either way, if you choose one of the rooms facing the pool/yacht club, beware that it might get a little loud, especially if the pool is busy. Since we weren't in our room very much, it wasn't that big of a deal, but worth mentioning. All in all, I definitely would recommend staying here if you want something that is clean, friendly, cheap and within a short drive to a lot of popular San Diego attractions.

    « Simple luxury with a view »

Great hotel. Simple luxury. Room was huge! Beds comfortable, lots of free parking, and great location central to everything. Breakfast was decent(lots of carbs and not many healthy options). Has a great view of the harbor. Few restaurants across the street but closed quite early.

    « San Diego stay »

The hotel was close to all the activities we wanted to do. The pool and hot tub was great. It had a balcony which is always a plus. The free breakfast was better than expected. They have a parking garage attached to the hotel. This place is great.

    « Rest & Relaxation »

Had a harbor view king room that was very good. Nice view of harbor & balcony to enjoy the sun& watching ships, boats, & air force jets & choppers coming & going. Cleaning staff & front end staff excellent. Close to some good restaurants for pastas or sea food. Staff was very helpful in advising us of things to see as our first trip. Close to Ralphs for munchies & spirits. Yusufi Taxi 781-521-7227 - very nice helpful driver who we relied on for numerous trips.

very helpful and the shuttle was great. They were on time and very helpful also. Had problems with the phone and TV and the service person came right away and fixed them within minutes. Great location with nice view of the sail boats and the city lights. Had a smoking room that did not smell like smoke, nice

    « I lost my property »

My property was lost right in the lobby at the reception desk. I left my computer back with several items in it such as computer, chargers including my IPhone charger and sonic tooth brush. I just went to the bath room while the receptionist was checking me in. When I came back, My driving license which at the top of the reception counter and my computer bag with all items in were gone. I asked the receptionist he said he has nothing to do about. The answer from the hotel manager was the same. I asked the manager why they do not have a camera, he said they have a good insurance but did not take responsibility for my stolen properties. I called police and two officers came and took report. They were very nice and friendly. It is unbelievable that they don't have a camera for protection of customers and their properties. I also reported to my employers to protect the computer files since it is encrypted.

« Close to all the amenities »

Great place to be close to the beach, harbor, Pt Loma, restaurants, breweries. THe hotel itself is about right at 2.5 stars. Hot tub was great, pool a little too cold for us. Fairly quiet unless you're on the 1st floor next to the office.

    « n/a »

Great! Far better than expected! Definitely worth the stay. It was affordable, it was close to the area I needed to be, Staff was helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was great. Even though it was an older facility, it was well kept, clean, and exceptional. I feel like I got my money's worth. I'd definitely recommend this facility.

« Sight Seeing in San Diego »

We chose this Hotel after some internet searching. We liked the location, and the deals they offered. Once at the Hotel we found we made the right choice. The view from our room was fantastic, overlooking the yacht harbour. We had asked if at all possible we could have a room suitable for a handicapped person. That's exactly what we got, the room was well equipped. Going out for dinner was very easy, even if you did not want to use your car, good quality restaurants were right across the road. The hotel was only 15 minutes away from SeaWorld, and 12 minutes from the whale watching cruise ships and the USS Midway. Breakfasts were excellent with enough seating.

    « Weekend Get away »

The hotel was in a great location as it was close to Shelter Island and the harbor. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was provided and there was a variety of choices for adults and children. There were eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. My husband and I were impressed with the breakfast selection. We would stay there again.

    « Great Hotel »

Good value hotel. Great location and very well maintained. Clean rooms and good size and excellent value value for money. Would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in san diego for short break. Breakfast was good as well and ticked all the boxes.

    « Harbor View Stay »

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The harbor view room with a balcony was wonderful. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was great for harbor activities and close to several fine restaurants. The breakfast was good with an adequate variety. We will certainly stay here again.

    « HOTEL WITH A VIEW »

I hadn't stayed at a Best Western in many years. Arrived in San Diego not having made a reservation. I knew I wanted to have a view of the water so I drove from downtown San Diego along Harbor Drive and came upon the Best Western Yacht Harbor. It was Friday, late afternoon, and I was able to find a room for two nights. The lady at the front desk, Kat, was very pleasant and secured a room on the 4th floor with a view of the yacht harbor. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, friendly and well-located place to stay.

« Great location, great value »

The hotel is literally minutes from the airport, across the street from the Point Loma Harbor, with numerous restaurants within walking distance. Every room has a balcony, great place for coffee in the morning. Close and convenient to Balboa Park for museums and the zoo. We liked it so much we canceled reservations at another hotel up the coast for the end of our trip and booked in for two more nights.

    4
« Great position, clean and good value. »

First visit to San Diego, by good luck we chose Point Loma which is a lovely base from which to see the city and surrounding area. Hotel was clean and comfortable, usual bun fight for breakfast but, other than that, would recommend it as a good value place to stay especially if you plan to be out and about during the day.

    5
    « USMC Graduation vacation »

Perfect hotel for the graduation ceremony. Took 10 minutes to get to and from the base and the hotel over looks the yacht harbor (get a harbor view room). Plenty of dining right across the street. Super convienient. I woukd stay here again!!! Comfy beds. Shower a bit out dated but the room was perfect

    4
« Good bed and convenient place nearby airport »

We needed this hotel as a place to stay after our cruise and tour through CA, NV and AZ, and before our flight back to Europe. The place is convenient to bring back your rental car and use the shuttle bus to go the airport the next morning.

    « Spotless »

2nd time at this hotel. The property is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Front desk and hotel staff all very nice and helpful. Several good restaurants in the area especially Jimmys Famous across the street. Once you master the street layout, you'll be an expert in the area. There is also a Ralph's within two blocks and a Vons within a couple of minutes drive. Free Wi-Fi works well. My previous review of the breakfast room has been rectified my new management. No worries here!

    « Nice place for a budget »

Fairly nice place for the price & location. Everything seemed to be tidy and clean. The pool and hot tub were clear and free of debris. (Even through a crazy windstorm that happened while we were there that sunk some ships in the harbor across the street. ) The staff were on top of it, and you almost didn't know palm leaves and branches were everywhere, because they cleaned them up so fast. The breakfast was decent every morning, and better than a standard continental breakfast. There were scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled potatoes aside from the toast, bagels, cereal, and yogurts you'd find elsewhere. The gym was decent, (I used it all 5 days I was there.) it had a treadmill, elliptical, bike, pull-up bar and some cable resistance weights. My only complaint of the gym was that 1/3 of the cable system was broken. The rooms were decent, & beds were comfortable. They are a little dated with the cottage cheese ceilings..... But I didn't care much about that, because it was one of the cheapest places found in the area. I did notice there was a bit of noise at times. Some of it was traffic, most of it was from the airport about two miles away. You'd hear the planes as they would take off.. My room was on the 5th floor facing the airport to the east. (See the photo) I would imagine that my location in the hotel did not help the noise, because my sliding glass door at the balcony was facing that runway. All in all, for a 5 day vacation on a budget, I was okay with dealing with the minor inconvenience of the noise and broken weight system. I enjoyed walking with my wife up and down the bay across the street. It's close to tons of stuff and hearing the bugle play the national anthem every morning at 8 was the icing on the cake. (It came from somewhere in the bay.... Maybe a patriotic ship in the harbor, or one of the many military bases.) I thought it was cool.

    « Nice place »

Stayed here for two nights in room 512. Room was nice and spacious. People complained about small rooms but we found them to be rather specious. Nice view of harbour, clean rooms with updated finishes. Some street noise from guests in pool and traffic but nothing too bad. Would stay here again. Beautiful area with good view of the marina. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good and free.

    3
    « It was okay »

We looked at reviews and decided based on that we should stay here. It really was just okay. We stayed there for a week just to have some fun. They allow smoking in the pool hot tub area, which was disappointing. There are stains all over the sofas in the entrance of the hotel. Most of the front desk clerks had great costumer service but the ones who didn't were really bad. The best employee at the hotel was the breakfast host (lady). She is very helpful and friendly. The beds were okay comfort wise, a little on the more firm side. The bathroom area is small and cramped, which got old after the 1st day but they kept it nice and clean. It was a nice touch that they had apples out on the table in the lobby to grab whenever you like, as well as hot chocolate. Like I said it wasn't horrible or fabulous, it was just okay. I would stay here again if the price was right.

« Sister vacation, enjoying the beautiful city of San Diego »

Rooms and hotel were very clean. I was a bit concerned that traffic noise may be a problem as our room had a balcony and we were close to what seemed a busy street, but I heard nothing. The free breakfast was great. All of the staff were so friendly and really made us feel welcome. The view of the harbor is beautiful. We didn't use the outdoor pool but it appeared to be clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

    « 2 1/2 stars »

So if you're looking for a reasonable priced hotel with a great location, then this is the place for you. The only thing is I wish it was more than just functional. Given the location you would think the rooms would be a little fancier inside and the tv would be bigger. On the plus side it has free parking and the breakfast is a full breakfast that's pretty decent. The only real negatives I found were as follows. One we were in a room with four people and we only had towels enough for one person. And our toilet would not stop running. So we had to keep lifting up the thing up the lid. It's not something you really want to do when you're staying at a hotel. Finally I kind of wish the had staff check the halls more often. Used towels and trash seems sit outside the rooms in the halls forever. The rooms themselves are clean, this is just about the crap that guests leave in the halls. Without the minor negatives, would have been solid three stars.

    4
    « Nice surprise »

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It is a very good value, good location close to the airport for those traveling. However, it is also convenient for those who want places to walk, find good restaurants, go to events at the military bases, and enjoy SD without all of the downtown expense and attitude. Excellent breakfast, free parking, friendly staff, clean facility. We live on a boat nearby and needed a place to stay when our boat was out for repairs. We will stay again and recommend to our visitors. We are frequently across the street at Pizza Nova, our favorite local restaurant for a quick meal.

« Airport shuttle! and Views. »

Nice stay in a busy location. I could not check in until after 5pm, so had to wait around for a few hours. However you can't beat the price for the location and view. Balcony was a definite plus. Sunsets!!!

    « Very Surprised »

First time staying at a Best Westetn property. We stayed a couple nights before flying home to Hawaii. Great location, nice staff, free parking, free breakfast and we were actually surprised that the room was actually decent. Loved that they had fruit and coffee out the entire day in the lobby. They have coin operated laundry which was great. So close to the airport, attractions and restaurants. My family and I had a really nice stay.

« Handy for the airport »

Within 10 minutes of collecting a rental car at San Diego International Airport we had arrived at this hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. Room not huge but well equipped with fridge, microwave and coffee machine and the beds were especially comfortable. Very good complimentary breakfast.

« Lovely place to stay in January »

We stayed in this hotel in January and mustsay it was a lovely hotel. The room was spacious and had ll the amenities you need for a break away. It also had a balcony ( but if you stay, as a higher floor,so you can see he harbour) The breakfast was good and went up to 10:00am every day, which makes it great for people on holiday. Also the jacuzzi as welcomed in the evening to relax after long walks along the harbour. They had coffee and Tea in the lobby and two large bowls of juicy red apples. Only one minor problem ,the pool was cold, so couldn't have a swim but we did sit outside to catch the sun.

    « Hidden Diamond »

We stayed during Christmas and New Years. Super clean rooms. Best hot breakfast, never seen such fresh and variety of breakfast choices. Excellent price and best of all super friendly staff. The staff took care of my little one while we had breakfast. Which was nice gesture from Best Western staff. We will be definitely be back when in this area.

« A delightfully efficient hotel, with a great yacht basin view »

This Best Western was beautifully professional and efficient at check-in. Our check-in agent on Thu at 4.30p was perfect. Once your drive to the hotel parking lot, there is no level access to the hotel; steep stairs are tough. You need to first park on the side of the entrance to wheel in your bags. The room was very clean and organized. The breakfast area is small and crowded, but has all the essentials. The hot tub was delightfully hot.

« Just a bad Over All experiene »

The check in staff was friendly. The guy who check us out was RUDE! Our car got broken into and the staff acted like it was no big deal. The room smelled and the carpets were so dirty and stained we wouldn't take our shoes off the whole time. We asked for a room with a view due to it was my husband's birthday but got the car port view instead and the room was right next to the car port and you could hear cars coming and going all night long. The staff (our room was that close to the lobby) was laughing so loud in the early morning that it woke us up. The food was ok, we didn't expect much. But, we were shock that in the 45 minutes we were in there watching the news and talking to other guest that we didn't see one staff member come in and check on things. The bathroom was actually MUCH bigger than the rest of the room. I know hotel rooms can be small, but a room on a cruise ship was bigger than this room. The only good thing about this hotel is the Pizza Nova across the street, being able to walk to the whale watching at H&M Whale Watching, and you can walked to the ocean and enjoy the sunset.

    4
    « Surprised at quality »

I just stayed at Best Western in San Diego and was surprised at how nice it was. It was an older hotel on the harbor and I expected it to be run down from age. IT was not. It was clean and well cared for. The price was one of the best in the area and it was well worth it. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

    « Comfortable »

I arrived in San Diego a couple of hours before check in. Parking was free and the parking area felt very safe. The hotel staff had no problem checking me in and giving me a room a bit ahead of actual check in time. I had a king room, with a side view of the harbor. The room was nice but a bit small. It had all of the amenities including microwave and mini fridge. I will agree with some other reviewers about the traffic noise being quite loud at times. The bed was comfy with lots of extra pillows. They do have a small room off of the lobby offering a computer and printer use free of charge. Just a reminder that the hotel airport shuttle does not start before 7 a.m. So if you need to be at the airport earlier plan on a cab ride. All in all, I had a nice experience. I would definitely book again.

    5
    « Fantastic breakfast!! »

This hotel was very clean and in a great convenient location to the airport, downtown San Diego and shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby has bowls of apples and hot coffee available 24/7 and the free breakfast was the best breakfast we've ever had at a Best Western (and we use BW often). Full breakfast included eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes and all the other things you'd expect. They also have coin laundry onsite and 2 levels of free parking.

    4
« Friendly, Airport Shuttle by Appt »

The lobby of this hotel is decorated with bowls filled with fresh red apples and a coffee cart with flavored creams and complimentary Hot Chocolate which was a nice treat! I stayed here three nights. My room was a bit small and faced a parking lot which was alittle disappointing which may be because I got a great price through Hotels.com. The complimentary breakfasts were wonderful which included hot and cold cereals, pastries, bagels, toast, pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and more. They serve TIL 10am on the weekends and 9:30 (which I didn't realize in the weekdays) so good to know. The staff was friendly & helpful providing walking directions to various shopping and a grocery store. The yacht harbor is across the street. The shuttle can be reserved to/from the airport within certain hours. The wi-fi seemed slow. There is a great Italian Restaurant across the street called Pizza Nova that delivers. Overall a comfortable stay. I would return although would ask for a room with a better view next time. Thank you.

« Great hotel for family travel in San Diego! »

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have balconies and a microwave and refrigerator. The pool is heated. There are many choices for breakfast items. The location is great. Great value for the price.

    « Fairly good Hotel »

This isn't fancy, but it is clean and close to the harbor. We walked across the street and saw fishing & sailing boats. Also very close to the airport. The shuttle bus drivers were kind and friendly. We only stayed the 1 night on our way home from Arizona, before our early morning flight out of San Diego.

    5
    « Enjoyed our stay »

View from the room looked over the yacht harbor. Staff was friendly and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast. Had a lot of different choices including a pancake machine that made fresh pancakes to order.

    5
    « Loved The Location »

We liked our stay and would revisit this facility again. Few complaints, but overall had a great vacation. Great food close by and a safe area to walk in. The view of the harbor is beautiful and we like that it is close to the airport and rental car facilities.

    3
    « Nice location »

Small room, and at $155 without a harbour view I thought it was a little tired and overpriced. Point lomas area is, however, quite pleasant, and there is easy access to downtown. Breakfast is a scrum, so get there early, or skip it altogether. Don't get a room near the ice machines. A Boeing 737 engine test bay would probably run quieter!

    4
« Ticks all the boxes. »

Looking for an inexpensive, well-located, clean bed for a few nights in San Diego ? This hotel ticks all the boxes. Our room was large, modern, spotlessly clean with a pleasant ocean-facing view. Like most BW hotels there is a simple but adequate breakfast. If offers shuttles to and from the Airport ( only between 7.00am and 5.00pm ), and the cruise terminals. The staff are friendly and keen to please. The adjacent harbour front makes a pleasant early morning stroll/jog.

    4
« Clean and good service »

This was a nice hotel to stay because it is in a good neighborhood and centrally located. It was right next to the harbor with gorgeous views . rooms were nice and it was quiet. I liked that it was a straight shot to coronada island and other places downtown

    « Spacious and Clean »

My family was exhausted after spending 3-hour drive to Seaworld on a cold and rainy December day. We checked-in at 7:30pm and was greeted promptly at the desk. I asked for a higher floor but not too far away from the elevator because my mom has knee problems. I was NOT disappointed. Even though it was only on the 4th floor, the room has a king and a queen bed fit for a big family, a bathroom sink is outside so you can use it while someone is using the toilet or shower. The balcony is facing the street overlooking the harbor. You can barely hear the outside when the door is closed. Breakfast room is a bit small but we were early so we enjoyed the food. Checking out is a breeze. All in all, our stay was good and relaxing.

« all we needed and more »

Stayed here for 9 days from dec.3 to 13. Room was on 5th floor facing harbor. Decent views of harbor. Had 2 queen beds...room was large compared to different establishments we stayed at. Front staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was beyond many....egg dishes, hash browns, bacon, make your own pancake machine, and all the other fixings...better than some restaurants...very friendly breakfast and housekeeping staff. Had an overflow room for breakfast facing pool. Close proximity to buses, and good eating places. Only small issue we had was the odd morning we had a sour smell coming from bathroom sink. Was excellent having a oversized bar fridge and microwave. If in area will probably return. We had excellent WiFi the whole time we were there

    4
« Great Location, services and view »

We got a good rate on our pre-Christmas lodging. The breakfast served each morning was huge with many options. Excellent way to start the day. The Lobby desk staff was helpful. Rooms were small but, served our needs. Free parking in undergound space was convenient except for the need of an elevator for carry luggage up to main floor. Enjoyed walking along the wharf, right across the street!

    5
    « Perfect location »

Room clean. Had great reading lights and outlets for electronics. Good wall hair dryer. Nice TV. Appreciated refrigerator and microwave. Like the fact apples, coffee, tea & hot chocolate in lobby. Breakfast consisted of cereals, sweet rolls, bagels, egg dish, potatoes, juices, coffee, milk and tea. Special machine that made two small pancakes at a time.

« Hotel with easy access to all of San Diego, with free and plentiful parking »

Good location with undercover free parking. Easy access to I5 and to downtown, located 5 mins drive from the airport. Jimmeys restaurant and bar on the opposite side of the road provide for local dining. Well run hotel, well maintained. Self service breakfast included in the price although we had too many commitments to sample it on this occasion. Rooms well furnished in a mid priced hotel.

« Nice view, poor problem solving »

I was in room 512 and had a great view. At first we were impressed. However, we were woken by a screaming baby next door in 511. The occupants chose to stay in the room and try to hush the child, who went on for over an hour starting at 12:30 am. We finally called the front desk after hearing another couple swearing in the hallway very loudly about the baby. We chose a nicer resolution path and asked them to either move the family or us. They moved us to room 606,...where we passed a Pot party room which was smelling up the hallway...and was loud, and entered a nice FREEZING COLD ROOM with the sliding door to the balcony that would not shut and/or lock properly and broken thermostat...(it was 34 degrees outside) . We went down stairs and again asked for another room. Instead of agreeing, the lady told us how about if they just go try to fix the problems...and we keep that room. We had to be at the airport at 4:30 am, Needless to say, our disrupted sleep , including two night time room changes, and no offer for reimbursement and an argument to resolve it we will not be going back to this BW hotel. As you see from my other reviews we usually very happy with BW hotels and would gladly recommend them...but the way in which this hotel chose to handle this was not appropriate.

« Not what you want for holidays »

Read a lot of good comments about this hotel but I don't feel that right. This hotel isn't cheap. For winter holidays, just 20 more dollars, you should stay in holiday inn express just next to it , or 40 more for a 4 stars hotel near the beach will be worthy. Room : clean but nothing else. The bed is so-so. Climate control can't heat up the room. There is no view on lower level. The balcony is cute but noise of the street is loud. 2 stars room. Wireless : bandwidth in room is poor. You may connect for only few minutes but be kicked out soon. You can't really use internet in room at night. Location : Good. You can't expect you see the beach view when you wake up. However, it does near to airport and major sight seeing area. I can give 3 or 4 stars for location. Service : There is no business center. A front desk servant says they could help copy but copy machine doesn't have enough toner. One front desk servant is really nice just like other comments and willing to help visitors. But the other servant at front desk is not willing to share much or help or even just to answer your question. Breakfast : it provides only the basic. The juice beats expectation and comes a better quality. But I would suggest you eat outside in a nearby restaurant if a good breakfast means to you.

« Where is the harbor view »

The hotel room was fine. The breakfast was poor. Most importantly, the hotel was advertised as "a view of the harbor from every room", and we got a sad view of the parking lot. Since we arrived at the hotel pretty late, we did not ask for another room.

    3
    « Weekend with Friends »

The hotel is in a great spot. Make sure you get a room on the 4-6 floor for a view of the harbor. We were in a harbor view room on the 3rd floor and could see an inch of it! The hotel is close to the tram station and about 20 min walk, I think. Skip the breakfast and eat out in one of the wonderful restaurants in San Diego.

« Great value and location »

We visited over the Thanksgiving holiday. The experience at this hotel was positive, the staff is excellent, the location convenient, rooms comfortable and clean. Free parking and self-serve breakfast are a plus. Overall, a very good value. I would stay here again.

« Better than I could have imagined! Went above and beyond! »

We were in room 411 (Booked two queens facing the harbor and as a bonus our room was a king and a queen.) Beautiful view, sit on the patio and watch the sunrise or set or relax inside in the comfort of the room. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was great, coffee was even delicious not that gross hotel coffee. The refreshing pool was much needed after a day of touring. The staff.... on checking in we asked for a crib, the crib was in our room before we even got there! Breakfast everyday greeted with a smile and tasty food. Our tablet broke, we threw it in the garbage and when I got home I had a message on my phone letting us know that they found a tablet and wanted to make sure we didn't forget it. (I have NEVER had amazing service like that, from cleaning staff to the person who called AMAZING!) There are plenty of things around the hotel, restaurants, a Ralphs grocery store, gas station, bank, basically anything you could need within 4 blocks. I have NO complaints about this hotel, the staff are amazing, the rooms clean, free breakfast, free coffee and apples all day long, free wifi that actually works, free parking, quiet and a great location.

    « Very good value »

We booked 2 rooms here twice (either side of a short trip away) with myself and my wife and our son and his girlfriend. The staff kindly gave us free parking whilst we left our car. The rooms were very good and clean both times with plenty of space and the view from the city room on the top floor was fantastic, especially seeing the sunrise. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly. Our only complaint, which we discussed with the staff at the time, was that our second room was really close to the ice machine and vending machine. One of them was extremely loud and caused my wife some sleep loss. We weren't entirely satisfied with their response that 'no one had complained before'. However, this hotel offers extremely good value for money compared to hotels closer to the city and there plenty of facilities close by. Quite a few new bars and restaurants along the wharf and very near to the offshore angling boats. The hotel also has a free airport shuttle that only takes 5 minutes.

« Very quiet and relaxing »

Free continental breakfast in the morning and free coffee, plus basketful of apple all day, nothing could beat that. I am a huge coffee drinker so I appreciated that service so very much. I wish there was some little store I can buy foods inside the hotel, there was none. No restaurant no bar. There are plenty of stores around though. Closest supermarket was Ralphs. Even though it is right in front of the yacht harbor, I did not get the room with the ?water? view?.I only had street/parking view. Room is very small, I expected a bit bigger. Bathroom is super small, and I had a hard time to navigate through. Also I could not turn up the heater so I was freezing the whole time, I was old?The refrigerator (which is nice to have!) was in the bathroom, right where you are supposed to hang the clothes, so basically, refrigerator took the whole space and there was absolutely no place to hang clothes on, that was a bummer. They also have a microwave/coffee maker in the room. Very small fitness room, with 3 cardio machines. It was cozy. Poo/Tab was in front of the hotel. I wish there was an entry to pool/tab, from inside the hotel, but there was none. Only way I could get in was from outside the lobby. Bed was comfy, and every room seems to have patio, you can sit outside, which was super nice. My hair dryer had some ?white? long hairs tangled up and they were nasty?.They were definitely NOT mine. My hair is black. I usually do not bring any shampoo/conditioner. This hotel has 2-1 shampoo / conditioner in one bottle only, not the separate bottles. I kind of wanted conditioner?

« Don't Book if Arriving Late or Departing Early »

It started out poorly and got worse. Although advertised with shuttle service, their shuttle only runs during normal business hours - 7A-5P. When we called on our late arrival, we were abruptly told that there was no shuttle and to take a taxi. It should be noted on the website that this is the case. Check-in went smoothly. Our room was close by and that was a plus. At least it was until we walked in. The carpet was badly stained. The we tried the beds. They were extremely hard. Since we were only there overnight, I didn't make a big deal out of trying to change rooms as we thought others would have the same type of beds. When we booked the shuttle for the next morning, I asked to speak with the manager about the hours as we had a reservation for our return with a late arrival and a very early departure. The agent was helpful in giving me the manager's phone number as he wouldn't be in until after we left. Breakfast is served early and that's a plus. The automatic pancake machine looked interesting, but the 2 pancakes that it gives are about the size of half dollars and they're rubbery. The omelets that were brought out were so overcooked that they were brown and crispy. The bacon and other items were fine. When we went to get the shuttle, I ask the agent on duty about the beds and wondered about them being so hard. He said that the room may have different beds than other rooms. When I mentioned how hard they were and that it didn't give us much sleep, his only response was "Sorry 'bout that." We're trying to find an alternative for the return trip as the additional cost of a taxi from and back to the airport more than outweighs the savings of staying at the Best Western Yacht Harbor.

    « ok stay »

No problem with cleanliness or bed comfort - very good. Bathroom vanity very small. Hair dryer only worked on low (didn't know this until I needed to dry hair after shower - took much longer than normal). Also, the security bolt was broken. They would have moved us to another room, but my companion was already in bed. We were offered additional points for our inconvenience. Location was convenient to the airport.

« I would Stay at this Location Again! »

Great staff, very helpful. Really clean rooms. Beautiful view of bay and great location. Very good value for the price. The only drawback was we need transportation to Humphreys by the bay for a concert but the shuttles do not travel that way. It was walking distance but in heels and dressy attire, it was a challenge but the walk was very scenic.

    « Location and service »

Across from a lovely harbor this charming small hotel has a friendly staff to it's good value. Excellent location close to the airport with free parking and breakfast this is a very good choice and a good value.

« Great Place to stay on the Bay »

Great place to stay before and after a cruise. Free parking included for up to 7 days and free shuttle to the cruise terminal. Driver to and from the terminal very helpful and friendly. Great restaurants right across the street. Easy walk around the bay.

« So close to airport »

This is a great place that is so close to the airport and with shuttle service to and from. A really nice, free breakfast with almost anything you want, including pancakes! Nice pool. And a balcony...I love a balcony.

    « Clean/Good Value »

I would recommend this hotel and it's convenient location to anyone looking for an alternative to the higher priced options closer to downtown San Diego. The hotel was clean, staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast included with views of the harbor.

« Try Other Hotel before you consider this one »

bathroom is very small, problems with their sanitary sewer piping system, toilet clogged twice during our stay. Not worth the money we spent. the only bright thing is the property was close to our event that we were there for. If they had a Hilton brand in that area I would have stay with them. this was a big mistake staying at this Best Western.

    « Party Central »

We were in SD for a family wedding 10/29 thru 11/3. Room above us had a weekend party.. I suspect they were from the local Marine base down the street. both Friday & Saturday day & night we heard furnature moving heavy footsteps. talking loudly on the balcony. We informed the front desk in Friday a.m. When they called the room they were told that they had the radio on & were dancing. We left to go to the Zoo. Came back to change for the rehersal dinner still hearing noise up stairs. Still noise that night but tollarable. We could fall asleep. Saturday more sightseeing Changed for wedding that night. came back to room @ 10 but when it didn't stop and the party was in full swing @ 3:30 a.m. my husband went to the front desk asking for something to be done..They sent the custodian up to get the people off the balcony and to quiet down. I had a migrane so I took a sleeping pill. Sunday we drove to Brea to see family. Hotel called me on my cell to see if we expected to stay another night. I said yes evidently had made a mistake on the reservation..Travis Ford Mgr. told me it would be full rate for the room. I asked if there was something he could do to reduce the rate..As we are members of AAA we got a few dollars off. I expected some consideration for the unpleasentness we had endured. We were not the problem but was treated that way. I suspect that this kind of thing happens often there as they have signs in the elevaters refering to "if you have any problems please tell the desk we don't want a bad rating" Lack of customer service. Not a family friendly hotel. If you want to party this is your place.

    « Good Stay »

We stayed here for four nights from 5th to 9th of November. During check-in there were two female members one was really friendly, but the one with glasses was very rude and did not show any friendliness or respect at all, we also seen her being quite disrespectful to another customer as they had booked through booking.com. The positives are the rooms are cleaned to a good standard and have nice views if you stay harbour side.

    4
    « Well presented - comfortable stay »

Pleasant 3.5 star in a pleasant position. Staff helpful, room clean and well looked after. Mildly disappointed at the harbor outlook, as it did not live up to the impression I took from the booking information.

    « Great staycation »

Well needed day off at a great price,,,,, the stay was perfect , besides the coldness of the day staff. Value was great, in my book this is what we paid for 1. Great location 2. Awesome room 3. super duper bed, tv and internet 4. Breakfast that feed well enough to keep us full all day. 5. $120 bucks,,, AYKM,,,, I spend more than that on coffee in a day! Best western should change its name to best value on the west side of San Diego

« Great place to stay before a cruise »

Love this place. Our flight arrived at 9am. Called for a a shuttle and Travis at the front desk was waiting for me with paperwork to check-in. Because we were Best Western Rewards members we were upgraded to a harbor view. Just across the street are restaurants on the harbor. We highly recommend Jimmy's American Tavern. Upscale tavern, delicious onion rings and the best prime rib dip and fish tacos. Too much for one meal. Waiter packed the left overs up including eating utensils and napkins to bring back to the Best Western where we stored the food in the room fridge. So good cold we didn't need the room microwave. Great night's sleep and friendly shuttle service to the port for our cruise. Definitely staying here again if we cruise out of San Diego.

    « Perfect For A Pre-Cruise Stay »

We stayed here for one night prior to our cruise. It is centrally located to the airport, cruise pier, and attractions. The shuttle was included from the airport and the cruise pier so no added expense for that. Maya and Danny were very friendly and welcoming. They were also very knowledgeable about the area when we asked about restaurants that we could walk to. The room was clean, the beds comfortable. The breakfast was very good with a few hot items. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony with our coffee in the morning. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

« Would love to go back! »

This was a wonderful hotel for a solo travelling lady. I enjoyed the pool daily and was very pleased with the location on the harbor with it's many dining venues and places to walk to. The front desk was welcoming, fun and helpful. The views of the harbor and downtown at sunset were wonderful.

    « Better than expected! »

Definitely best to pay a bit extra or even ask for a free upgrade (they give them) to a harbor view room. It really enhances your stay to watch the boats in the harbor and bay. There are six floors (we were on the fifth, which was great - the higher the better). Our room was spacious with great bedding (mattress, several pillows, soft sheets), and we had two chairs (a club chair and a comfortable desk chair). In addition we had a small terrace with two chairs (perfect for a glass of wine at night). The hotel is clean and well kept with freshly painted walls, nice drapes, clean carpet, blackout drapes, microwave, fridge, large flatscreen TV, clock/radio, separate vanity, shower/tub combo. Plenty of places to set or store your "stuff." Breakfast is included: ham and scrambled eggs, potatoes, toast, bagels, pancakes, muffins, pastries, oatmeal, cereals, yogurt, coffee, tea, juices, milk. The breakfast room is small but it adequately handled guest turnover and food was constantly replenished. The location is very good, just minutes away from the airport, water activities, Balboa Park, and downtown. There's a busy road in front, so earplugs will guarantee you a good night's sleep. (I slept from 10-8:30!) The staff is very friendly and helpful, lots of free parking, a spotless large pool, fresh fruit and coffee in the lobby 24/7. Great wifi too. Across the street are two highly rated restaurants by the water: Jimmy's and Pizza Nova (several more nearby.). Considering everything I consider this hotel to be a real good value. No cons as long as you have earplugs.

« False Advertising and Street Noise is horrible »

Expedia shows this hotel as excepting dogs. They do NOT! They did let us keep our service animal with us for an evening, but it was clear, we were not welcome. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and will not be back! Stayed in street facing room overlooking harbor (most do) and the noise was constant all night long. Between the rattling of the ice machine every hour of the night and constant street traffic ALL night with the 5-6am motorcycle racing out front, absolutely horrendous to find rest here. The pool is SMALL and exposed to passerbys on the street. If you don't want your children/wife exposed to the world in the suits, do not stay here. To top it off, what a crumby excuse for a breakfast. At this cost, I expect better. Powdered eggs and dry frozen potatoes? Come on Best Western!

« Quality stay at a moderate price »

Chose the BW Yacht Harbor as the suggested hotels were full. However, I found the staff welcoming and the room refreshingly fine. Breakfast was very ordinary but you get what you pay for. Proximity to quality restaurants right across the road was a bonus. Would stay again.

« Great Value and Convenience »

The hotel facilities and staff are excellent. The location is very convenient for San Diego attractions, and the price is a very a good value! The shuttle service was on time and very helpful. There are several good seafood restaurants within a short walking distance, and the marina and fishing boat services are just across the street and very interesting to observe.

    « Great Location »

We have been searching for a hotel that is near downtown and the beach and I believe we have found it with this Best Western location. The hotel is very nice inside and out. It is on a busy main street with makes it convenient to travel to Mission or Pacific beach but also downtown and Shelter Island. There are great places to eat within walking distance also. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A full breakfast is served each day and is well attended by hotel guests. The rooms are clean and each has a small lanai with furniture. A big bonus is plenty of free parking.

    « Clean room »

My family and best friend stayed there last Labor Day weekend. The room, bathroom and linens were clean. The breakfast was ok; had a balcony facing the San Diego Bay and it was close to most of the places (and restaurants) we planned to visit. I would recommend it to others.

« Great for cruise stay »

Hotel staff was friendly and room was clean. Breakfast was delish. Great hotel if you have cruise, shuttle to and from harbor was free and I was able to leave my car at under ground hotel parking. We will definitely stay here again even if we don't have a cruise

« Cruise Hotel by Harbor »

Great and simple, front staff and shuttle were great. We used the hotel as our stop before cruise and left our car parked there for the weekend. We had no problems, breakfast could've been a bit better but overall great for the value price I got on Best Western website plus points on reward program.

    « Worth the Money »

Hotel off the beaten path but it is well worth the price. Rooms are clean, linens changed daily and you get a balcony. Beds are very comfortable, microwave and refrigerator are also very clean. Breakfast is good, not great but included in with the price of room. Pool not huge but clean and always enough chairs for all customers. Also included with the price is the complementary transportation to and from the airport. Best thing about the hotel is the staff, they always provided excellent directions to all the places I wanted to see. I used public transit for my entire stay and in 5 days the total cost of my transportation was 49.50. All because of the excellent info provided by Best Western Staff.

    « Room 111 Dirty »

We came here as a family of 4. With 2 children. We were given room 111. It was handicap accessible, which was fine because it was convenient for our stroller, BUT the carpet was visibly stained in every area of the room and the bathroom floor had dirt stains which showed it was not recently mopped. I also seen that the towels had black stains on it also. The beds were new and "looked" clean, but it probably didn't have clean sheets being that the rest of the room was dirty. Best Western is usually a reliable hotel and clean, but this location was a true disappointment! Especially because we had children! How can the staff be so lazy and heartless. I knew there were other rooms available because the people that checked in after us had upper storey rooms. Beware of room 111, it is filthy and noisy!

My daughters and I came to San Diego for a college graduation and for a couple of days of relaxation at the beach. We chose this hotel for their location and positive reviews. Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel offers a good breakfast selection, fast WiFi, complimentary underground parking, a beautiful pool area and a perfect location walking distance to restaurants, shops and the harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to my next stay at this hotel!

« Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel, San Diego CA. »

Great place to stay, especially for anyone going on a Cruise. They have a free shuttle to Cruise terminal and to the Airport. A very serviceable free breakfast and a nice swimming pool! It's an older building but the staff do their best and are very helpful. If you need fancy, go ahead and pay more at a fancier place. Only down side is the in room Wi FI, works ok but slows to a crawl by 10pm.

    « Vacation for two »

This hotel has a great location on the San Diego harbor. We were very happy with the area and check in went smoothly. The room was good once they fixed the leaking toilet. The maintenance guy was there right away and it was just the seal around the tank that needed repair. Our room was clean and gave a partial view of the water. The free breakfast was good. We ate there most mornings having the breakfast pizza on bagels and the pancakes. The pool was a nice feature as it was 85 - 90 degrees for the 4 days we were there and we used the pool in the afternoons. They have towels at poolside so you don't need to take the ones from your room. The front desk staff was friendly and the maid service was very good. The issue we had was with the doors for the stairs. Both doors were locked so there was no way off the floor if the elevator wasn't available. We told the front desk clerk immediately as this is a fire code violation. She called the maintenance person and he proceeded to check the doors. We left for the day of sightseeing thinking it would be fine. Our room was located right across from one of the fire doors so we checked it upon our return that evening. Still locked. We lodged our complaint with the hotel manager the very next morning and he assured us it would be taken care of as they had just been through their inspection. Again when we returned to the hotel the door by our room was still not opening but the one on the other side of the hotel on the third floor was finally unlocked. If you decide to stay here, please don't stay on the third floor. I can assure you the fire escape door isn't working yet. We spent 4 nights there and lodged three complaints with the staff and nobody could fix the door.

    « Don't bother »

Booked in the hotel using reward points, wished we hadn't bothered. Got upgraded to a harbour facing room despite asking for a quiet room. Can't sleep now between the noise from the pool directly below and the main road, front desk staff completely unhelpful despite asking to move rooms. Don't waste your money stay somewhere else, I certainly will be.

I came to San Diego to attend my daughter's graduation from college with my two daughters and my grandson (2 yrs) We decided to stay at the BW Yacht Harbor Hotel due to the proximity to her graduation, the Airport and of course, the beach. Our visit was perfect from check in to check out. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I was especially impressed with Maya as it was her second day at the front desk. I would highly recommend this hotel for leisure or business travelers.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

This is a very nice hotel. Close to downtown San Diego and even closer to the Airport. Even though it was close to the airport, I heard no airplane noise at all. Nice rooms with nice view of the bay and all the fishing boats. Great pizza across the street and lots of fish and seafood restaurants close by. Underground parking but the roof leaks badly so don't leave your sunroof open.

    « Balancing act »

This hotel has a great location, not downtown which i like, but a short non freeway drive to all attractions in SD. Pleasant stay but like all larger hotels... too many guests means longer wait times at elevator (5th floor), stairs only allow exit out the building. Breakfast room was too compact for the number of uses. Street noise penetrates the sliding glass door which made for a nice amenity. Room was smaller than most BW i stay at, but this is crowded southern California. This part of SD is a bit slower pace than the Gaslamp quarter or downtown. Its a matter of the lesser of the evils, not a bad place for the money. Book online and save big...

    « Great Experience »

I got the room, view and bed I requested for my family of three. We had a beautiful view of the harbor but I was a little bit bummed I couldn't see downtown due to a stairwell blocking that view. We were on the fifth floor though and had a view of the pool which was helpful when our 15 year old son went swimming and I was able to call down to him when I had a question for him. Our son came with us at the last minute so we had to add on a rollaway bed and that caused no problem at all. We left the hotel, shortly after checking in and when we returned, the bed was there. The room and rest of the hotel was clean and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was hot when we first arrived but the air conditioner worked perfect and cooled it down in little time. Our son used the pool and swam alone (for the first time in his life) for the entire time he was there. The pool temp and condition was perfect and he said it was nice and he really liked it. Even though the hotel was sold out, we never felt like it was crowded and never heard our neighbors. We also found parking in the covered lot on both nights we arrived back late. The breakfast was just ok. It is a continental breakfast though so in that vein, it was normal. However, it was very clean in the room and pleasantly decorated and arranged. They had a separate dining area for overflow or if you didn't want to be in the room with the food prep and television. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful stay here and I'd definitely return to the same location to stay overnight again. The highlight was walking out onto our balcony, on the last morning we were there (on a Sunday), to the view of the harbor with The Star Spangled Banner playing on speakers nearby, just loud enough for me to get misty-eyed. Beautiful moment.
