« Great hotel, big room, location and price! »

We loved this hotel. It was the second time we stayed here. Close enough that you can drag your bags from the main train station but not for people out of shape. Close to the Metro and a really nice sized room for Europe standards. The lift is very old and the tiniest I have ever been in. Two people and a small amount of luggage. Get in one side and out the side next to it, so like 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock. Interesting! Very pleased with this hotel. Great room, service, price and location. We had previously stayed at a nearby Best Western and it was terrible compared to this place and not much cheaper. Breakfast was decent. Good job!

    « Excellent Hotel! »

Hotel Canada is a charming, elegant and comfortable boutique-style hotel, which is also a great value! We were on a 3 wk. Euro trip, arriving in Rome during 2nd week of June w/husband and two adult daughters. We had reserved two rooms, each with 2 double beds (requesting close proximity) for three days. After a short 10min.walk from the train station, we were pleasantly surprised upon entry of the hotel......Beautiful lobby, with front desk, communal living room (TV, books, travel brochures, etc.) and an adjacent formal bar room.(Beverages and light appertivo available in late afternoons.) This first floor area was immaculately clean. (Which was a relief, after walking through the garbage and graffiti lined streets of Rome.) Check-in went smoothly........Polite, efficient and helpful w/restaurant recommendations. Loved the old-fashioned cage-elevator to our seventh(?) floor rooms! Our two rooms were on same floor, fairly close in proximity, as requested. Daughters' had a large, corner room.......Beautifully decorated in Italian antiques and paintings, with a large, traditional, white marble bathroom. Our 2-double bed room down the hall was not as large, but was as equally beautiful.......Decorated with antiques, paintings and comfortable bed linens. Our bathroom was more spacious, but equally as elegant, completely lined in beautiful white marble. Nicer quality soaps, shampoos, etc., bathroom slippers and linens. Our bathroom also had a deep soaking tub, which we learned was a luxury on this trip. AC available in both rooms and worked well. Finally, the morning buffet breakfasts were absolutely the most generous and delicious of all the hotels in which we stayed. At least 3 long buffet tables with everything from hot foods (eggs, sausage, bacon, etc.), cold foods (breads, lunchmeats, cheeses, fresh fruit, cereals, etc.) a variety of only-in-Italy sweets and pastries, juices, coffee, teas, and on and on. Waitresses, brought hot beverages to our tables and cleared all dishes. This was truly an incredibly generous and delicious breakfast! We were absolutely amazed that all of this atmosphere, comfort, service AND breakfast was so reasonably priced. This fall, we will have a one-night stop in Rome on our way to Tuscany.......We will most definitely stay at Hotel Canada!

« The end of a perfect trip »

After 8 weeks travelling, we caught a train from Sorrento to Rome. We wanted somewhere close to the station and safe. This Hotel was our choice and it was perfect. The staff were very welcoming, our room was very comfortable. The breakfast included some local delicacies. It is away from the major tourist areas, but this was an advantage to us. The restaurants were not overpriced and the walk to the attractions was pleasant. We would definitely go back if we return to Rome.

« Best Western Canada in Rome Italy »

the location was around 10 min walking. near metro. the reception. was quite stern and not friendly, wonder is it because we at Chinese. did not try the breakfast. we stay at room 322 . lift was interesting . the porter was a nice chap. double bed is super soft not comfortable felt that it's very old. we had a bad sleep. hubby and daughter comment that the double bed base stand look fragile. my daughter single bed near the door was fine. mattress cover was not change even she slightly stain it. free loan of umbrella. we had better stay other location. reception services average only was disappointed. do prepare for the tax at euro 4 dollar per person per night. no water given. the slipper is good.

« Classic Hotel Close to Termini »

Since we were arriving by train we wanted something close to Termini. We saw this hotel online and it had decent reviews. Being from Canada it seemed odd, but not terribly so, to stay at a hotel with this name. Not overly friendly, but very courteous front desk staff. They upgraded us to a corner suite so the room had plenty of space and a separate room to sit in with a sofa and a writing desk. Bed was firm, but comfortable. As per the rest of our experience in Europe, a small TV in the corner of the bedroom, but wifi was good and they had a stereo you could hook your iPhone/iPod up too that was surprisingly loud even at the lowest volume. Room service was good/consistent and when it rains they put out courtesy umbrellas so maybe leave yours at home. Breakfast was great, especially for the price. Buffet service, but they bring drinks and coffee to your table. We didn't partake every day, but at the price (just 3 euros each) we should have if we weren't out late every night. Mornings were for sleeping in before another full day of sightseeing. Very close to Termini. Walk out the northeast exit (to your right as you exit the platform) and save 5-10 minutes walking to the hotel rather than walking out the front like we did. Some great restaurants right on the hotel's street, especially Mama Angela's around the corner. We might have had our best meal in Europe there. The small pizza place on the corner is also decent in a pinch, but there are far better. Most major attractions are within a 30 minute walk radius except Vatican City. We would stay here again when visiting Rome.

    « Should be 4* »

Excellent hotel, in good location, only 30mins walk to Trevi and to the Spanish steps, metro literally around the corner, so all the sights are easily accessible from the hotel. Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous large room, 428, clean, lovely comfy bed, large spotless bathroom. Coffee making facilities in room, which doesn't say on website, but can be requested for free. Lots of toiletries provided. Breakfast is 6€ extra, but worth it, and was very nice. The lounge bar is very nice and relaxing in the evening after a long day sightseeing, and the prices are very good. Would recommend this hotel. Free wi fi.

« Good hotel.. a bit further out than we hoped! »

Excellent room, 2 additional beds for children and still plenty of room for storage, to relax and not trip over each other. Well decorated and lovely seating area downstairs. Breakfast fresh and good value although busy to get a table

    « One memorable night »

I spent one night at this hotel, on my way back to US. I had a very spacious, elegant room with a large bath. The AC didn't work well, but I opened the windows and was very comfortable. I wish that I'd found this hotel earlier!!

« Great stay in Rome »

We have stayed in Rome several times and usually expect to pay high prices for a small room. BW Hotel Canada is in a convenient location, near the metro. The room was large and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful. I will stay here again when returning to Rome and recommend it to others.

« Extremely clean, very nice staff »

The bedroom was separate from the living room. The bathroom was large, modern and well lite. I like the old time elevator with the pull gate doors. The decor in the Lobby and rooms is beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Wonderful and a good value »

Booked this hotel for two nights based on TripAdvisor reviews and also on its location -- it is in an area we wanted to see and also within walking distance of the railway station. Well, it's within walking distance of the station if you're smart enough (or lucky enough) to exit the station on the proper side -- we weren't, and didn't get any help from various cops, who didn't seem to know the street Via Vicenza -- hey, it was all of one-quarter mile away. We wandered lost and finally took a cab. We WERE able to walk back when we left two days later, however! We had a "deluxe" queen room, one notch up from the base, and it was a good deal for Rome. The room was very large and very attractive -- looked recently appointed but still looked "historic" -- with a big bathroom with lots of ledges and room to put the traveling kit. The bathroom lighting was a bit dim but the lights were perfectly placed over the mirror so there was plenty of light for shaving, which is always high on my list! The shower was good, but the tub was narrow, so someone (like me) with big feet needs to be careful turning around. The bed and pillows were excellent. There were several chairs, including two arm chairs at a very big desk, a perfect place for putting on makeup, which is always high on my wife's list. Biggest surprise of all was the WONDERFUL breakfast available off the lobby -- the price was the biggest deal you could imagine -- in the US you couldn't get a roll and cup of coffee for that price at any hotel! Would definitely recommend this place.

    « Loved this hotel!!! »

This place captures the true romance of Italy. The decor is classic but with all the modern accessories you need. The breakfast was amazing (3€ charge), the best breakfast of any BW I been to, though the hotel in Moab was close. Staff were great at all times. Most important though was the location close to Rome's Termini station. It was a short walking distance from the train station, even with luggage, and just around the corner from the Metro station to get to great sites like the Colosseum easily. Budgetwise it was the best deal for the area because it is in the main tourist area where prices are highest. It is worth the price for the convenience of its location. We were able to walk to many of the historic sites and use the hop on-hop off buses that go near the hotel and circle the key sites.

    « Great hotel!! »

We loved this hotel. Old and renovated to keep the old look. Room was spacious with sitting area, bathroom large....loved the old caged elevator. Staff helpful. Great location. Metro right around the corner and main termini and easy 10 min walk. many restaurants nearby. The only thing I'd change----Beds a little hard....harder than I like. Very clean.

    « Ahhhhhh »

We checked in after a long day of travel. Helpful staff, charming lobby and lovely room. The bathroom is spotless and large. The best part was crawling into the bed. The mattress is so very very comfortable! I don't think we moved once during the night. Great pillows too!!

    « Excellent! »

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights prior to our cruise. It is extremely conveniently located, about 7 minutes walk to Termini station, a metro entrance around the corner, and close to lots of good restaurants and gelato places. The room was large, very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast for 3 euros was excellent, with a good selection of hot and cold items. The staff was very courteous and helpful with providing directions and restaurant recommendations. We would definitley stay here again!

« Great Value in Rome! »

This was a great hotel, not far from Roma Termini and close to restaurants, bars and Metro. It's away from the centre of Rome, so a bit calmer and quieter which was great. Rome is a pretty hectic city so to be able to come back at night and relax and have a drink in the little bar with complimentary bar nibbles was very enjoyable. The staff were helpful and friendly as well. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay there again if in Rome.

    5
    « Perfect hotel »

We stayed here two nights, about 5 minutes from termini, walking to major attractions is doable and pleasant. The rooms are spacious, beds very good. Breakfast was also very good, fresh fruit and many choices for all diets. This hotel is great value, staff are helpful as well.

« totally charming place to stay.. »

We stayed two nights in early October 2016 in a standard twin room. What can I say about this totally charming place? A very clean, well presented room which in my experience was big for an Italian city hotel. Recently decorated but in a traditional style - it felt like a room in a family villa. Beds were very comfortable. Double, double glazing and a shutter ment very little noise from the busy road below. The bathroom was large. shower over the bath. Lots of toiletries and also toothbrushes. Slippers provided (not bad for a 3 star hotel!!). Breakfast - a buffet with a great range of choice including a lovely home made frittata. ( price has apparently only just recently inceased from 3 euro to 6 euro - this wasn't made clear when we checked in so a bit of a surprise when we came to pay the bill at check out. Even with the increased price this still is good value). The little cosy bar is great - prices are very good and they lay out home made snacks and olives etc. in the evening. All the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The lift is old fashioned and part of the charm. Location - about a 6 minute walk from the main train station so easy to get to and pick up connections for hop on hop off buses and local transport. But if you want, you can get to places easily by walking - we walked from the hotel to the Coliseum in 25 minutes. The area around the hotel can appear a little sketchy but we didn't feel unsafe at all as it's very busy. We fully intend to return to this hotel when we next visit Rome - which is a fabulous city to explore.

« Good value, good service, excellent breakfast buffet »

Like all Rome hotels, it is small and cozy, and full of traditional European charm. The rooms are decent size as it was built before the modern era of cubby-holed mega-hotels. From the James Bond type elevator to the bidet to the irregular sized rooms, the hotel has aged comfortably. The front desk staff is extremely courteous and helpful; and for 3 Euros, the breakfast buffet is probably the best deal in town. As a matter of fact, I think, anywhere! Totally recommend it.

    « Good Choice »

We stayed at the Hotel Canada for 3 nights and were very happy with our choice. Room large and clean as was the bathroom room. Staff all helpful and friendly, breakfast was great plenty to choose from. True it is only a 10 minute walk from Termini station make sure you know were you are going though. Lift was great for luggage and the porter grabbed our cases from us when we arrived so the few steps at the entrance was not a problem.Nice bar and they offer bar snacks. The open bus tours start very near to the Hotel and its the first stop. Dont forget to but ice-cream from Navonna Square. Thank you Hotel Canada

    « Don't go by the name! »

This was our second stay at this beautiful hotel. From the marble steps to the hand painted ceilings it has all the charm and beauty of a traditional European hotel! It is a few blocks from the train station and a few blocks from the subway. It's in a perfect location for traveling through out Rome. The rooms are equipped with everything you need including a toothbrush!! The breakfast is good with plenty of nearby restaurants. There's a convenient shop nearby for anything you might have forgotten and plenty of snack items. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I have and would again recommend this hotel.

« GREAT PLACE TO STAY »

This hotel was great, had character, nice big rooms (compared to most in Europe) with nice furnishings. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean. This hotel should be rated a four star instead of a three. Location was good, walking distance to train station and metro. I thought it was really good value for the money.

    « Stopover before flight »

We stayed only one night as the hotel ibefore a flight it's only 10 minute walk to termini from which it is easy to get to the airport. A 10 minute walk however with luggage over bumpy paving is a bit far and I would look for something even closer next time. The hotel itself is quite quaint with interesting painted ceilings in the lobby and an historic lift. However for catching a flight, there was a bit of a wait for the lift which we could have done without as we could have done without the few steps at the entrance which were abit awkward with cases.. Our room was large and had french windows. The bed was very comfortable. There was a spacious wardrobe in the room but this made movement on that side of the bed a little awkward and cramped. The bathroom was also nice with a shower over the bath but all the taps were difficult to turn right off to prevent constant dripping. Breakfast was really excellent value for money at 3 euro per head and well worth waiting for, but it wasn't available until 7.30. Overall a comfortable stay but maybe we could have done better. We stayed a week near Piazza Navonna and found that a far better location as a base to visit Rome. I would not use hotels near Termini if you were in Rome for more than a couple of days.

    « absolutley wonderful »

i loved this hotel, staff very friendly, hotel spotless, bar prices were very good, breakfast amazing. and the room was wonderful. it even had an old fashioned lift, it was close by to train station as well as bus terminal, and also close to the buses/trams for sight seeing. i would defo go again, close to angelas tavern food exeptional

    « Amazingly Charming Property »

In upgrading this older building to modernity, they have done an amazing job of integrating modern conveniences without damaging the historic charm of this place. The elevator is priceless itself! The location is great and the management and staff are wonderful. They will help willingly if you have any problems. The breakfasts are superb. Probably the best that we had on a one month trip to Europe.

    5
« A great Hotel if you want to stay in Rome »

This hotel is very good the people behind the desk are very kind and the hotel is very clean and very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Rome because my room was great

« Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms »

Great location for those using public transportation. We arrived by train, used the metro to get to the sights, and left via the Leo Express train to the airport. This hotel made if very easy to walk to and from Roma Termini with bags and to the metro for sightseeing. The hotel retains the charm and essence of Europe/Italy while giving guests a very comfortable stay. The breakfast room was well stocked with a variety of foods. The bed is extra comfortable for a bed in Italy. We had everything we could need and were very pleased with our stay.

    « Fabulous Highly Recommend »

We stayed here for 4 nights. All the staff were amazing. Centrally located. Clean. Nice bar with daily snacks. Amazing breakfast. Restaurants are close by as is the train station. Wonderful place. Thanks for a great experience

    « Clean, comfortable and well-located »

My husband and I stayed here one night before flying out of Fiumicino Airport. We chose this hotel because we needed easy access to the train station. It is around the corner from the Metro which is one stop away from Rome Termini Station. You can get to the Fiumicino Train platform in less than 30 minutes during rush hours. The neighborhood is a little sketchy but very safe. You don't have to worry about pick pockets once you leave the Metro (but do worry about them at the Metro and Train Station). Pros: nice atmosphere, small elevator, very comfortable bed, excellent service, very clean, full breakfast, free reliable wifi, central location for Rome and train station. Cons: the neighborhood looks sketchy but it is not anything to worry about. Overall, great hotel in a good location. I would stay here again and highly recommend.

stayed for 3 nights on a trip with family. Was absolutely perfect, good central location close to public transport and some nice restaurants. Friendly English speaking staff. Nicely decorated, nice atmosphere, clean rooms, comfy beds, great breakfast. Would highly recommend

    « Highly recommend. »

We loved this hotel, the reception areas, the quaint elevator, and every single one of the staff, all of whom are friendly, helpful, professional in appearance and knowledge. This is a building with history and character, and our room was spacious, with old-time elegance and antique hand painted ceilings. Our bed was a bit firm... no 'pillow-top' mattress, but we slept well. I recommend the breakfast buffet in the hotel for only 3 euros each. Lots of choices, and you won't get a better deal out on the streets. The location is great with some really good restaurants very close by. It is within walking distance of major sights, and we walked to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Vatican, and everything in between.

    4
« Good all round base for Roman sightseeing »

A well presented hotel in a very handy Rome location. Very easy to get to all the sights on foot or by Metro. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very tasty and a wide choice available. The price of breakfast was excellent and bar prices.

« Great Stay in Rome! »

We wanted to be walking distance to the main train station so we thought this was a good location for us. At first we thought the neighborhood had some sketchy areas but it turned to be fine for us. We walked everywhere from here. The hotel was nice and our room was very quaint, European, and clean. The breakfast for €3 was very nice and well worth the price since we didn't really see other places close by for breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.

    5
« Great hotel, great location, wonderful stay in Rome »

I stayed here for 5 nights at the beginning of September, the first stop on a 3 city trip to Italy. It is located at the end of a quiet street off Termini Station and very conveniently located if you are coming in from the airport or the train station. It's not in the hustle and bustle of Rome, which for me was a big plus, but it is walking distance to many of the main attractions, including a 15 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and about 20 minutes or so to the Colosseum. The Pantheon is about a 40 minute walk. The Vatican is across town, and after taking a taxi there (I think it was about 16 euros) for an early morning tour, I walked back from the Vatican to the hotel, which took me just over an hour. If you are a walker, you can certainly do most of the city on foot from this hotel. The hotel and my room were very clean. It was very quiet at night for sleeping, even though I faced the street (if you open the window, you can sometimes hear the musician at the restaurant up the street, which was lovely). The mattress and pillow were very firm, which I prefer, and I had the best sleep I have ever had in a hotel while staying here. It was very hot in Rome and the AC worked perfectly. The shower and tub were quiet small, and moving around was not easy, but everything was fully functional and restocked with towels and products daily. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I had no issue with the service provided. The breakfast is very good and worth the 3 euros (half of what breakfast cost me in Venice, and easily three times the choices). I would highly recommend this hotel for a short term or longer term (week or more) stay in Rome.

« Great hotel and city break »

Spent 5 days in Rome on city break. Friendly staff, clean rooms, lively area added to whole experience. Buffet breakfast for 3 euros each! 5/10 min walk to train station. Local restaurants nearby. Complimentary sparkling wine for husbands birthday, nice touch!

« Lovely rooms, good location, excellent service! »

Spent 3 nights in this lovely hotel. Walking distances are approximately: Colosseum 40-50 minutes, Fontana Trevi roughly 30 minutes, Via Nazionale (shopping) 20 minutes. Obviously you can use taxi (not that expensive, from hotel to Vatican 17 euros for example) and metro - very close to the main station and smaller ones. We had a deluxe room, which is just lovely! Great bed, toiletries, huge towels, big closets for clothes, coffee/tea, separate hall and bathroom, and spacious bedroom. Charming all in all. Our room was in 3rd floor and it was quiet - no noises from the street or corridors. There is no minibar (i.e. refrigerator), so no place to cool you own beverages. Breakfast is good, fresh ingredients and enough to eat for sure. It is served from 7-10:30. Service is excellent! Everyone here helps with a smile! We are so happy that we chose BW Canada and can absolutely recommend it to all!

    « Excellent hotel »

We can recommend Hotel Canada wholeheartedly. My husband and I stayed for six days. The location is very central as it is close to Termini station and even closer to Metro Castro Pretorio. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was atmospheric, clean and spacious. The hotel lift is reminiscent of times past and adds to the ambience of this lovely hotel. The room facilities were excellent. Toiletries were provided. Tea and coffee making facilities were available. The air conditioning and shower worked perfectly. Breakfast for three euros was delicious and varied. We loved the little bar in the evenings where nibbles ... crackers, olives etc. were available before we went out for dinner. We visited after dinner also when we often sat on the balcony outdoors. We were made to feel very welcome also at the Oasies bar around the corner. The staff here were friendly and great fun. For dinner we really reccommend the Hostaria al Castro Pretoria, just one block away. Here you will be served a traditional four course Roman dinner meal, complete with ample wine for 18 Euro. Our thanks to management and staffof Hotel Canada for making our stay a memorable 'Roman Holiday'

    « Fantastic hotel »

This is an excellent hotel - good value, large rooms and quiet. The staff were superb! Very friendly and helpful. We were in room 220 which was a suite with king size bed. Even though facing the street, incredibly quiet. Beautiful room, well decorated and very large bathroom. Loved the elevator! The breakfast was amazing! Very inexpensive but so many choices and of excellent quality. Close to two train stations - we walked to Trevi Fountain and it was only about 30 minutes. So many beautiful things to see on the way. Lots of restaurants nearby.

    « A good choice »

When visiting cities I like a location close to the main attractions and this one was recommended to me by my travel agent. I also checked for myself on a map but the distance was greater than I estimated. Not a problem, however, since there is a Metro station just around the corner and the main railway station is less than a 10 minute walk. From there, several of the Hop-on-Hop Off bus tours start/ terminate and run with a 10 minute frequency to all the places you would want to go. I used the bus only once, doing a complete circuit to check everything out and then getting off at the Vatican which was the farthest point from the hotel. After that, I walked all the rest over a period of three days including to and from the hotel. Tiring but the best way to see things and get the ambience. The hotel itself was excellent. It is furnished and decorated in retro style with every ceiling decorated in a floral motif. The room was square and spacious, the paintwork and fittings were flawless, everything was clean and worked as intended. The staff were helpful and friendly. Apart from a fairly average breakfast buffet there are no in-house dining opportunities but there are good restaurants and pizzerias close by.

« Great value and proximity to train station make this a good choice »

The Hotel Canada is a charming hotel just a few blocks from Termini train station and not far from the Castro Pretorio metro station. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the train station and the relative value it offered. The hotel itself is a charming place, decorated in a traditional style. The spacious lobby included old-time photos of the owner's family ? a nice touch. The old-style elevator was a true hoot and added to the overall ambiance. The front desk staff was courteous; not overly warm but not surly, either. Breakfast offered a diverse array of tasty food, pleasantly presented in a sun-filled room. Our very clean room was decorated in an old world style with high ceilings and an antique wooden room divider that demarked the two sleeping areas. Our room comfortably slept four (two adult and two kids). The bathroom was very clean, in excellent condition, and offered all the usual necessities. It did, alas, feature what was perhaps the biggest drawback to our stay: an odd bathtub/shower arrangement that was a little tricky to use. After deciphering the water controls, we managed to enjoy a hot shower. However, the hinged tub glass enclosure interfered and left puddles of water on the floor. Nothing disastrous here, but a bit of a nuisance for this American family that relishes its once or twice a day shower(s). For those not familiar, the Best Western (BW) name in the U.S. is usually synonymous with a cookie-cutter, low-to-mid grade motel experience. But in Europe, BW is simply a marketing vehicle for independently owned boutique-style hotels, each with their own unique charm and usually offering a pretty high quality product (strong 3 star to 4 star level quality). I usually steer clear of BW in the U.S., but have no qualms about checking out their offerings in Europe ? they often offer excellent quality, unique charm, and good value. The Hotel Canada provided us with a very good, 3 star level experience in a convenient location for a price that was unbeatable.

    « Happy Canadians! »

Booked this hotel on airmiles. It was 3rd stop on a whirlwind tour of Italy. FABULOUS experience. Very clean and spacious room. Very good breakfast. VERY friendly front desk and F&B staff. Top notch. Can't say enough! We were also very happy at the proximity of the metro to this hotel. Quick access to Colosseum and walkable to many other major attractions. Everything was decently priced in this area and seemed to accommodate a little to North Americans. You could get a burger and beer without breaking the bank ;)

Ok, maybe one small one: I'd have liked to be closer to the city center of Rome. That said, it was easy to get wherever we wanted to go and super convenient to Termini. Staff was gracious and efficient. Breakfast was over the top excellent. Way worth the small charge. The young lady at the front desk at check in and on staff most mornings was a delight. She was so patient with us as first time tourists and gave us countless maps and tips for wherever we wanted to go. Tip: it's a bit of a hike (i think our GPS said about 1/3of a mile, but the best gelato of our entire trip, Rome and beyond, was at a place up the street a bit caled "Romano." Thank you thank you thank you for being so good to us!

« ?Unbelievable value for money.? »

All round decor and presentation was first class. Breakfasts were excellent and amazing price. Location, great for trains, tour buses and metro. Staff could not have been more helpful. Plenty of restaurants close by. All in all a great experience and would certainly return in the future.

    « Clean and comfortable »

Our family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice toilettries provided. The hotel staff was helpful. No turist attractions are close by, it's in a quiet area, but you can find a few restaurants nearby. Close to Train Station.

« This truly is a hidden gem »

Rome can be quite expensive and it is very easy to overpay for a hotel room while getting something that is very small or subpar, or is in a less than ideal location. This Best Western Hotel is the exact opposite and should most likely be at the top of the list for anyone looking for a "convenient, central location in Rome", while not breaking the bank What I like: The rooms are extremely spacious and provide a sense of luxury. You almost get a feeling of stepping into one of those grand classic Fairmont rooms - but with 3X the space to move around. There was more than enough space for 3 people and the rollaway bed was prepared for the child. The room was prepared as requested (hypoallergenic). The bathroom is also extremely spacious and offered premium and extra amenities that you will not typically find automatically supplied (eg: toothbrush). The value is also amazing - this room was booked through Expedia well in advance and being in the peak tourist season, it could easily command 2-3 times the rate paid. Breakfast is available on site for a very small premium, if not included in the room rate. Location is also quite good - about 5-10 minutes walk from Termini and next to one of the subway stations. Soundproofing, temperature control, bed comfort were all satisfactory What to watch for/could be improved: The owners try to preserve the historic look and feel of the building (which is a good thing). By doing so, the unique lift is very small and can only accommodate a very small amount of luggage OR people. I also did not find the staff to be the most friendly. All in, this is highly recommended and an excellent choice for visiting Rome

« Awesome Location, Spacious Rooms! »

I booked this hotel through Expedia months before visiting. It was a great deal as I had gotten two room. 1 room for my mom and brother, and 1 room for my spouse and myself. It was our first time to Rome and I had heard rooms were very tiny in that little corner of the world. When we arrived, I could not believe the location. With a Subway station just steps from the hotel entrance, it made our transportation around the city so easy! We got to our rooms and were so impressed with the size! They were so spacious. I honestly was not expecting much at all because I wasn't impressed by photos online, however it blew me away! The rooms were quite, clean, bathrooms large! AND the hotel staff were so friendly! The neighbourhood was also great there were many restaurants around the hotel and bars. And we found a favourite little coffee spot for the morning too. Should I find myself in Rome again, I will definitely be staying here!

« Fantastic Hotel - great value and location »

We are a couple with two teens and stayed 5 nights in two rooms -- the location was fantastic, close to Termini station, Metro and Hop on Bus - this made getting around Rome easy! There are many restaurants close by and even on the same street. The breakfast for 3 Euros per person was a great value -- much more than you would get in North America. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with excellent air conditioning. The staff was welcoming and professional -- I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends going to Rome -- Thank you for a great stay!

« Friendly family run hotel not the usual Best Western style hotel »

Lovely clean, traditional hotel ideal for short break. Was worried about earlier reviews about noise and lift but I can honestly say you do hear people passing as the corridors are terracotta tiles but we were disturbed. And the lift is quirky. You just have to close it behind you to send it down again and people soon get the hang of it. The hotel is right next to the train station so perfect to get to and from airport but not in the heart of nice piazzas but lots of nearby places to eat and not far from the centre. Super clean. Good breakfast choices. Nice staff.

    « Amazing stay!!! »

This is an amazing hotel! I stayed with my husband and 10 year old boy. The hotel is children friendly and they make sure your youngsters enjoy the stay as much as you do. Great service at the front desk and through the hotel. I must say the service from Simone is outstanding!! He is always willing to help and assist you in any way! We stayed for a few days, left to visit the Amalfi coast and came back. We got two different rooms and both were very nicely decorated; clean and ample. Breakfast is filled with lots of pastries, options for your children and for you of course. Hot eggs and variety of fruits, yogurt, milk and juices. The cappuccino is amazing!! Hotel is very well located, about 5 blocks from termini, so you can easily travel from there to every touristic attraction while in Rome. Great value !! highly recommended!!!

    « Amazing Hotel »

Excellent location close to transit, exceptionally clean and well staffed. We have nothing but good things to say about our stay and would return in a heartbeat. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, great selection of food and extremely reasonable. The front desk personnel were great advising us how to get where we were going making it was an amazing base from which to see Rome.

« Nice hotel to stay at central location in Rome »

Stayed for four nights. Great location close to Roma Termini, Excellent service, very neat and clean. Lots of pizzerias around just few steps away. Our room for the first night was not all that good because of smaller size and some smell. However, our gentle complaint was considered seriously, and we were moved to another room. Remainder of our stay was very comfortable. Don't fail to check out the bar. You may enjoy probably the cheapest beer and cocktails in Rome!

    « Comfortable and convenient »

We had two seperate stays in the Hotel Canada: the first was for several nights while we explored Rome and later an overnight before flying out. Both were perfect. The hotel is only a few blocks from Rome's Termini rail station but far enough away that you avoid the noise and congestion around the station. Easily walkable with a rolling carry-on suitcase and too much camera equipment. The neighborhood feels quite safe. Since Termini is a major subway station in addition to a passenger rail station and since several bus lines pass by the station, being within easy walking distance of it makes getting around in Rome much easier. It is an older hotel, which is our favorite kind, but has been updated to provide the amenities travelers look for today. Both rooms we stayed in were immaculate. The hotel has deliberately kept the somewhat small caged elevator running up the middle of the stairwell and some people might find that something they needed to get used to, but it was quite reliable as long as everyone remembered to close the inner door upon exiting. It is so quiet! Our first room overlooked a busy street behind the hotel, but traffic noise was only a murmur. The breakfast buffets are amazing. The staff are all pleasant and helpful and everyone spoke at least enough English to make up for my poor Italian. The desk staff are completely fluent in English. There are plenty of restaurants of all types in the neighborhood if you don't feel like heading out into the city for your evening meal. The centro storico in Rome can feel congested and a bit overwhelming, but the Hotel Canada is a very comfortable, calm oasis from which to base your exploration of the city. And it's just the right size--not too big, not too small.

« Excellent, welcoming staff made our trip! »

When we arrived in July, it was HOT outside! Not inside the hotel though. Sweet, refreshing air conditioning. After being checked-in by a lovely staff member (Nina? She was about to head out for her wedding in a few days...) we went up to our room. Our room was even better than we anticipated and faced an indoor terrace of sorts. It was so flipping cute! We loved it. We were so exhausted from walking around in the heat before check-in that we went straight to bed. We heard a knock and there was an attendant at the door treating us to Champagne on our honeymoon! It was so unbelievably nice. We had a wonderful time at breakfast as well. The breakfast has a lot to offer and is all fresh. I would stay here forever and ever! The location was so convenient too! Can't wait to go back!

« Great hotel near termini »

Our Family of 4 stayed in a quadruple room for 3 nights. Great experience from start to finish. Nice breakfast buffet. A bar if you want to munch on some nuts and cookies, buy bottled water. Very friendly staff, helped us with getting taxis and with other questions. Rome's metro is not as well connected as say London's tube, so we took taxis everywhere. A ride from the hotel to the city costs 10-12 euros. Tried a couple of restaurants nearby. Loved Rossi on Via Palestra. There is a launders within a block as well. 10 euro for one set of clothes wash and dry.

Good food Clean room Good shower 5 mins away from the train and bus depot Ideal location for exploring Rome city There tourist tax is 4 euro per person per night, was a bit shocked by this Vending machines in the lobby if you need a bottle water or a bag of crisps

« Superb hotel, fantastic, helpful staff »

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for three nights. Yes, the breakfasts are excellent value and the pastries are delicious and plentiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully furnished with elegant individual pieces of furniture. They are plenty of sockets and a good hair dryer available; also lots of toiletries. The bar sells beer and coke for 2€ each and nibbles are available in the evening. There is a supermarket just around the corner, which is open until 11pm. It is around 7 minutes to walk to the termini.

« Wonderful hotel and no rip off prices for extras »

Lovely large comfortable room, friendly staff and such great value with a great breakfast at only €3.00 extra, beer at the bar €2.00 and a small bottle of asti only €3.50, can't remember the last time had such value for extras especially in such a comfortable environment. Short walk to the sights (Coliseum c 10-15 mins) and close to the train station and bus drop off from the airport. definately stay here next time in Rome - so impressed I got engaged while there!

    « Great little hotel »

the location was great - about a 5 minute walk from the Termini. The room was small as are most Rome hotel rooms - but it was nice! It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast for 3 euros was nice. The elevator was charming and quaint. I would stay here again

« When considering all things one of Romes best hotels »

I have to write this review based on my previouis travel experiences in Rome. This place was great, the location great, the rooms clean and comfortable, the price great, the breakfast great, the staff (especially front desk and restaurant breakfast staff was awesome!!). I have been to Rome a ton of times. I wish I had found Best Western Canada sooner. I would never have stayed at a place like Domus Diana. Which was not bad at the time, but after this last experience is just is not on the same level as Best Western Canada. Seriously if they have rooms available.... stay here you won't be disappointed.

This BW hotel has charm, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms and a great location to see the tops sites of Rome. A 2 minute walk gives you easy access to the metro. Breakfast is ample and delicious. 6 of us had 3-rooms for 3-nights and loved our stay at the Canada Hotel. I recommend staying at this hotel for travel and business.

    « Excellent Hotel »

Spent 3 days at this hotel and loved it !!! Rooms were large, spacious and decorated in a lovely antique style. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lovely lobby area and breakfast room - breakfast was really good with lots of choice. The hotel is very well situated - close to the Termini Station and within walking distance of lots of great shops and restaurants. A great choice - definitely would go back.

« Great hotel close to the metro »

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of a family trip. The hotel was an easy walk from the Termini train station, and is in fact around the corner from one of the Rome subway stops. Our room for 3 was very spacious compared to some of our other hotels. Ceilings were at least 10 ft high and were painted nicely. Windows blocked out almost all the outside noise. A/C worked well. Rooms were very clean and well stocked with tea, coffee and lots of bathroom amenities. We included breakfast in our rate, and for the price, was well worth it. The staff were all super friendly and there were lots of good restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again if I get back to Rome.

    « Great hotel! »

We stayed here on our last night in Rome because of the great location near the Termini Station. We were really impressed by the quality of this hotel. Huge room, nicely appointed with plenty of thoughtful touches and amenities. It is an extremely well cared for property. Breakfast was generous and in a lovely setting. Exceeded our expectations by far; would definitely return.

« Good hotel for the price »

We only stayed here one night and the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Looks like a boutique style hotel, very cute and rooms are beautiful. Our AC didn't work well but we only stayed for one night. Breakfast was excellent and the location was close to Termini station.

« Great location near main train station in Rone »

We spent 3 days at this hotel before our cruise very near main railway terminal but about 25 mins walk to main attractions however cannot fault hotel lovely room with a very ornate painted ceiling spacious and clean ! Buffet breakfast was only 3 euros well worth the money and would recommend this hotel if you don't mind being just a Wee bit away from main attractions

« Great service and rooms »

We had to get last minute accommodation late on a Friday night when our AirBnB fell through. The service from phone call to check in was outstanding. This is a great location if you want to be near Roma Termini station. It's even close to another metro station so easy to get around. We had 3 nights here and appreciated the large, well fitted out rooms, air con, and free wifi. The breakfasts were also good.

    « Lovely hotel »

I booked this hotel after reading reading previous reviews but was still amazed at just how lovely it was. Definitely worth more than 3 stars. We had a family room, one single & one four poster queen. Very clean, staff professional, courteous and accommodating. Reception staff spoke English, which helped. Called taxis for us which arrived in 2-3 mins, including one for the airport. Some nice restaurants in the same street. Definitely recommend.

« Great location, great people, great value »

We had three nights here. The beds were comfortable, the bedding not excessively hot (which we found everywhere else that we stayed in the last month in Europe, with the result that I always removed the duvet cover to use as a sheet without the duvet), the location within a block of the metro, laundry, supermarket and plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and cafes. The breakfast was the best value that will be found anywhere in Europe (good quality, a wide range and very well priced), and the friendly proprietors have made an effort to preserve the classic character of the building including the lift and and the wondering line drawings and paintings that line the hallways. All in all I would have no hesitation whatsoever in staying here on our next trip to Rome (whenever that happens to be) as well as recommending it to others.

« Fantastic choice and location! »

This hotel offers considerable value. Very large rooms and a great little breakfast to get you out the door for you sight seeing adventures. Large guest rooms with good wifi access. Quaint little breakfast room and bar area nice for an evening snack and drink. Walking distance to Coliseum and other sites. Extremely close to Termini train station, a major junction. With one large suitcase and a backpack, I wouldn't hesitate to walk from station to hotel. Just remember when making that decision that roads and side walks are often cobblestone and it's hot in the summer. Lots of places to eat and shop close by and great front desk staff who will point you in the right direction. Would definitely staff here again.

« Good position for rail transfer but away from the key attractions »

We had a Family Room that was in very good condition. It had all the key amenities and was particularly comfortable. The breakfast was great value at 3 euro per person on top of the room rate. It is very close to Roma Termini but a fair distance to most of the big ticket attractions. My one negative was the fact that the front desk man was not particularly helpful or interested in us. Maybe we caught him on a bad day but his grumpy attitude was less then appreciated.

    5
« Excellent hotel close to Termini »

Stayed here for four nights. Great location just a few minutes walk to Termini station and from there get buses or metro to anywhere in Rome. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet everyday. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Staff were attentive and provided a great level of service. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Rome.

« Wonderful Hotel . . . but be careful of the price of the taxi to Fuimincino »

Selected the hotel based on reviews on trip advisor and its location. We arrived in Rome, our last stop on a multi--city/country vacation, via an hour plus fast train ride from Firenze to Termini. The hotel is a 10 minute walk at most, with luggade, from Termini, We arrived early and one of the two rooms we booked was ready, which was great, and we left all luggage there. I has planned a walk to Santa Maria Maggiore, and then to Saint John Lateran, with a couple of stops along the way. Everything was close. We ended up at Porta Maggiore, after viewing some ruins of aqueducts and other places plus the churches, and then took a street car back to Termini. The hotel is very close to the Castro Pretorio subway station (preferable to Termini at night only because of the characters around Termini). So the location is very good and convenient. There are a few good local restaurants nearby (we went to Hostario Castro Pretorio). The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Good elevator. Great bar, open until midnight (Aperol for 2 euro !). They have a bountiful breakfast, with all sorts of egg items, fresh meats, frittata, fruits, juices and cappuccino. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Great toiletries, you can make coffee in the room. I write about the can here not because of the hotel, but to give advice. The hotel called for a cab. The price quoted was 48 euro for all including luggage, and we needed a van. Nonetheless, that is the price. The cab arrived right on time and we reached the airport in less the an hour. The driver had the meter on, which I though odd since it was a fixed price. The meter read 62 euros when we arrived. I gave the driver 48. He said the price was 76 ! I got a receipt and immediately sent a photo with the receipt to the hotel. They confirmed with the company that the price was 48. The people at the hotel were great -- the cab driver was not. Moral -- in order not to be the victim of tourist rip off by cab drivers, confirm the price before you get in ! Even when the hotel had ordered it through a reputable company. This did not effect the review of teh hotel.

« Nice choice near Termini »

I would agree with most of the other reviews I read here. It's a bit of a hassle to drag your luggage to and from the train station because the streets and sidewalks are crowded and uneven, but it's close enough to be very doable. I wouldn't bother taking a taxi unless it were pouring rain. The room we had was quiet and the beds very comfortable, and those are our two most important requirements. Our room was roomy by European standards and it was very clean. The breakfast was extra, but it was well worth it. Lots of decent places to eat in the neighborhood, so no need to go anywhere else if you are at the hotel at meal time. I would definitely stay here again if I were going to be using Termini.

    5
    « Wonderful Experience »

The staff made this hotel a great experience. On our last day I was having trouble with my rental car and one of the ladies at the front desk actually came out, read the car manual and got me on my way. She went above and beyond!! Room was clean and good location, but a bit further from the center of Rome than expected. Close to one of the hop on, hop off bus stops. Took easy cab rides to center Rome.

    « So pleased ! »

What a charming place. Large, clean rooms with lovely decor. Very gracious staff. For 3€, the breakfast is the best deal you will see all day. Very tasty and filling. A great way to start the day. Located close to Termini station. We will be back.

    « Clean and Comfortable »

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Canada. Located just a short walking distance from the train station and not too far from many of the must-see sites in Rome. Hotel Canada is nicely decorated, clean, quiet, with comfortable beds, and most of the amenities one could need when traveling. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needing directions or taxi. Downsides, no mini-fridge, very spotty wifi, and unlike most Best Westerns, breakfast was not included, but can be purchased for a small fee of 3 euro. Breakfast even included gluten free muffins and crackers which was treat for me!

    « Safe and convenient »

Conveniently located near the station. Once you land in Rome, it's easy to take the direct train from the airport to Roma Termini. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from there. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Quite a few eateries close by. The breakfast spread was okay. Overall a safe and convenient place.

« Lovely family run hotel! »

We stayed here for 4 nights, we had a third floor triple room, which was for my 20 year old daughter myself & hubby, there is a very small old fashioned lift the one where you must make sure you close the doors on each floor! On entering our room with a card key we found the room very clean and lovely traditional Italian decor , nice size room as was bathroom with bath & shower and hairdryer with small amount of tolietries to get you over a couple of days towels also provided! Good amount of plug sockets, T.v and music cd player! Bed very comfortable good air con also iron and board available at reception, staff very friendly and helpful, lovely reception area with comfy sofas & tv and use of a computer also a small bar and small outdoor patio area to smoke. The hotel is very near the main station 10 mins walk, the area around hotel is safe but was amazed by the rubbish on the streets well actually pretty much most of where ever we went was covered in litter which is a real shame!! Breakfast room looked nice in the hotel we did not eat there. We would recommend a resturant called The Old Bear near the number 6 stop on Roma sightseeing buses hop on off bus which would recommend, the resturant is lovely very fresh food also rated well on tripadvisor so take a look! Also La Roma ice cream shops amazing ice cream worth the queue although that varies, 15 minute walk from this hotel! We went on 2 tours highly recommend both one was Colosseum & the other Pompeii and Mount Versuvus which we booked through Expedia they were very good! I would really recommend the Hotel Canada its a good 3 star hotel good value for money and so clean every where, lovely atmosphere, many thanks to all the staff!

« A very nice 3 star hotel- but read more »

There is no doubt about the beauty, cleanliness and the decor of this hotel being superb. It really is the one of the best 3 star hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is in close proximity to Termini Station. Nearby there are restaurants, a laundromat (€20 for a bag washed and folded), many many shops in Termini station, everything you would need. Nearby is Pam or Conad grocery stores, with cheap alcohol and food. The neighbourhood itself seems safe, but is very dirty with rubbish everywhere. I have been to Manila and Indonesia and it was cleaner than some of the streets of Rome. The hotel rooms can be noisy at times as the return air grille for the AC is in the bottom of the room door, so when someone wheels a bag up the tiled hallway at 2am the click clack of the wheels is very noisy. Same for people talking. However, for the price I would say wear earplugs if it bothers you. There is a single lift (elevator) which has been retrofitted into the stairwell. It is very quaint and at first a real novelty, until other guests keep forgetting to close the door properly and you have to walk up the stairs to close it. This happens regularly and why there isn't a little reminder buzzer or spring closer on the door I don't know? I would say anyone with a walking disability or wheelchair should look elsewhere. The breakfast is very cheap, healthy and does the job, except the bacon, I have know idea what they do to it, but they make a mess of it, every day. There is a bar, with cheap drinks and complimentary snacks. It is quite pleasant for a quick drink. The one major annoyance for us was the internet, it is woeful, it is deliberately throttled to about 110-120kbps (I tested it), which is hopeless by today's standards. I suspect the hotel owners are being cheap because you can go around the corner to the Yellow Bar, buy a beer and get around 2000-3000 Kbps high speed free. They need to fix this, it is unacceptable. When we checked in the aircon in the room for our kids was not working. They moved us, but then put an elderly America couple in the same room the next day, with the faulty aircon, then told them they gave them a free upgrade. I know this because I met them in the lift and they were complaint about the heat. This was dishonest behaviour at worst, very poor communication between staff at best. A tip for parking, I paid (online) about €35 for 5 nights parking at Saba parking Villa Borghese. It is a 5 min walk to termini from the hotel, a quick train ride to Spagna Metro station, the metro station connects directly to Villa Borghese and Saba parking. I booked online, drove in, took a ticket from the machine, then drove to the reserved parking area (you will need to move to a general bay) which is near the ticket booth, gave them my booking printout and they gave me a ticket that let me come and go as we pleased. Perfect and cheap as! Overall this is a great 3 star hotel. It is family owned, so it's a bit different if you are used to staying in chain hotels. We are Diamond members with Best Western, but it didn't mean anything here. We will be taking this up with BW. However, the internet and the questionable ethical behaviour relating to the aircon and the elderly American couple concerns me and for that I gave them four stars instead of five. Overlooking the deficienciesBest Western Canada is good place if the price is right.

« Classy place and lovely area near train station »

We chose this hotel as the last three nights in Rome for a finishing top off to our two week visit to Italy. We wanted something memorable for the ending. Canada hotel is only 4 blocks from the train station where we dropped our car and near many many restaurants including a Chinese and Japanise place. Why mention this? Many tourist we met were rather Italian food saturated so the change was nice to have. The hotel is very elegant, with a large pulbic room, excellent breakfasts and even a small bar open all day and into the evening. The staff is most helpful and friendly. The rooms was most elegant and well supplied with eminities. We stayed on the 4th floor with elevator facing the courtyard which was very quietl.Huge sellection at eh included breakfast in a lovely breakfast room on the main floor. A very lovely ending to a very interesting trip to Italy. Check out my recommendations in Florence, Tole, Venice and Cinque Terra. Also high recommend the Mama Angela restaurent just 1 and half blocks away. Not the typical pizza joint but lovely dinning room, excellent food and great choice of wines. Best of all the prices were reasonable and we felt very pampered.

    « Great hotel! »

Very convenient & friendly boutique style hotel. Arber at the front desk was great and can even joke around in English! The front desk even let us check in to our room a few hours early as we arrived early and were completely exhausted. Daily breakfast buffet was a great deal for 3 Euros. Room was comfortable, especially considering there were four of us in it. The air conditioning could have been cooler but that's really my only criticism. I would recommend this hotel to others.

« Near termini train station »

This hotel has been owned by the same family for decades. There is a lot of pride in the way they manage it and it is all to the advantage of the clients who chose to stay with them. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is excellent. It's an easy walk to the train station and the hop on-hop off buses. There are excellent restaurants in the immediate area.

« Not bad for a few nights »

An ok hotel but very limited and a bit pricey. We thought breakfast was included but wasn't - only cost €3 per head for it though. I found the Internet slow and cut out a bit. The rickety old lift was well with a go on. The room itself was adequate but you could hear everything going on in the hotel. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was ok. The staff were excellent and we're happy to help whenever they could. I would probably stay here again if the rooms weren't so pricey but then you do have to take in to account you're not far from everywhere and it is the middle of tourist season!

« Great for a quick stay in Rome »

This was our last stop before heading back home and we had trained from the Amalfi Coast that day. It is a great location to Roma Termini - about 3 or 4 blocks. It will take you able 10-15 min walk, with luggage. The room was different to your standard hotel - it was more like a loft - so the bed and desk were on the top floor, couch/bathroom on the bottom. We had a buffet in the morning (it starts around 6.30am) before heading to the airport. There wasn't the best selection of food and pastries didn't seem overaly fresh but it did the job. The service at the counter was a little abrupt - but this could have also been due to us being ready to head home. I am still pleasantly surprised by Best Western each time I stay with them.

    « Charming and comfortable! »

We were on a family vacation and looking for a hotel that didnt break the bank but was still in or near the city center. There were a number of positive reviews and we decided to reserve 5 rooms at the Hotel Canada. We were surprised upon arrival at how attractive the hotel was and how pleasant and helpful the staff was. When we went to the rooms, again we were delighted in how attractive the rooms were and how large. There is information in the hotel that it is family owned and operated and the pride that the family has in the hotel is clear. Cleanliness - it sparkles! While it is not exactly city center, it was still very well located and there are a number of restaurants in the immediate area and the breakfast at the hotel was extremely reasonable, well presented and delicious. We would definitely stay there again. While the hotel is a 3 star hotel, it is truly a gem. Another plus was reservations were quick and easy.

« Fantastic place to stay »

The hotel was extremely nice and the decor was fantastic. Not at all like your typical Best Western from the states. The staff was all very friendly and spoke great English. The breakfast was more than satisfactory and very good. The coffee was also delicious and the staff was great.

Very comfortable base for exploring Rome near a Metro station and a few minutes walk from the main station. Family room had single bed in separate area for our son. Good breakfast buffet and excellent, helpful staff. Internet rather slow!

    « Still amazing »

Stayed st this hotel 2 years ago as a couple and really loved it so we decided to come back with our children. We chose the quad room which was fantastic - large bathroom and beautifully decorated. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and at only 3 euros each was more than good value for Rome. The bathroom was stocked with everything you could need for a weekend away including toothbrushes , toothpaste and a shaving kits as well as shampoo and conditioner etc so there's no need to bring anything ( meaning hand baggage is adequate ) The prices in the bar were reasonable ( 2.50 euros for measure of courvoisier brandy) and the barman was friendly and smiley The trattoria near to the hotel was recommended by them and was so good we went every night for 3 nights All in all we had a fantastic long weekend and have now booked a Best Western in Sorrento for 2 weeks in August Wonderful place to stay either for a family break or as a couple 10 minute walk from Termini station or 30 euros in a taxi from the airport ( flat rate)

    « Wonderful Experience! »

I must tell my story for you to understand. I originally booked this hotel for our last day in Italy, our vacation was in Tuscany, we rented a villa with lots of room. I thought it would be nice to see Rome for a day before we travelled back to the US. Since we rented a villa, with lots of room, our party of six became a party of seven when my daughter's boyfriend decided to come along. I had booked two triple rooms back in January, and when we added the seventh person, I completely forgot about the last night in Rome! During our week in Italy, I kept trying to book online an extra room but the hotel was completely booked. I sent the hotel an email also, and they responded that it was completely booked. Uh-oh! So we arrive before noon at the hotel, the front desk asks for our passports, I hand them seven, they immediately understand, and make some last minute changes and were able to give us a triple and a quad! Thank you Best Western!!! We decided to take advantage of our full day and head out into the city, upon our return, eight hours later, yes, I was completely exhausted, I stop at the front desk to finalize the check in, and was very excited to find a cancellation! An extra room, a beautiful extra room became available and they held it just for me! For the price, the rooms were wonderful, plenty of room, all on the same floor, breakfast was included too. Since we had an early flight home, the extra bathroom was great. Thank you Best Western Hotel Canada! When I return Italy some day, I will definitely stay here. Close to Metro, close to Termini, plenty of restaurant choices.

« Wonderful hotel near Termini station »

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with everything! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is very close to the Termini rail station ( 10 minute walk) so getting to the hotel after a long day of travel was easy. The room was spotless with a big bathroom and comfy bed. (we had a deluxe room, not the standard) The breakfast is not included in the room rate but is only 3€ and is a great deal with lots of eats to choose from. There is a subway station one block away and there are lots of restaurants near by as well as a grocery if you want to pick up some Pecorino, bread and a bottle of wine. We would gladly stay here again.

    « Little gem!! »

I picked this hotel based on reviews here at TA and the reasonable price. And I was not disappointed. This hotel is located in a great location near the Termini in Rome. An easy 5 min walk puts you on the metro or the train. Plus the area surrounding the hotel is clean and safe with great little restaurants right down the street. The hotel itself is clean with a nice decor. The lobby bar was a great place to relax after a day filled with sightseeing and breakfast in the morning is a bargain for 3 euro. Can't say enough about the friendly and professional staff!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return again!!

    « Excellent hotel »

The hotel is located 2 blocks from the metro. With it you can go anywhere you want (with combination between lines). Although the breakfast is not included, for €3 you can eat an excellent breakfast at the hotel. It also has lots of little details apart from the usual (sewing kit, tooth brush, etc). My only complain is that the mattress was in a bad condition.

« Beautiful Decor & Location But Noisy Room »

Beautiful hotel with a superb breakfast and a very convenient location. The non-smoking rule is just a guideline and we were subjected to the smell of cigarette smoke in our room all night long even though we were on a non-smoking floor. Also, make sure you ask for room away from the lift and stairs - VERY NOISY!. The bar in the hotel is just lovely with reasonable prices and great snacks.

    5
    « Wonderful hotel. »

This is a great hotel with great staff. The major sights are within walking distance as is the Main Train terminal and buses that can take you anywhere. In the evening the bar is up and running with many appetizers. The breakfast in the morning is one of the very best, with a different selection every day, served with flair and artistry.

« First Class All the Way With Classic Roman Ambience and Service !!!! »

I chose this hotel because of its good reviews on Trip Advisor and found it a charming place to stay in Rome to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. Our large room was as rich as a Roman tapestry with high Frescoed ceilings, tiled floors, beautiful panelled armoire, and desk , and sitting area.Large windows opened to two side streets in which one could view the rooftops and sights below while being quiet for sleeping when windows closed. Beautiful Italian music was available through a CD/tuner that also had a speaker in the bathroom. Rooms had modern amenities with old world flavour. Truly felt like a roman holiday. Service was impeccable by everyone at the front desk and the bar, especially Arber who explained the the simplicity of using the metro and the beauty of Rome as a walkable city! His recommendation of a restaurant close by was spot on. Breakfast was an ample spread with once again friendly and helpful service.Like others have said it is very close to Termini which is great coming from the train. The best part was the complimentary prosecco and pistaccios placed in our room with a nice note wishing us happy anniversary.Bar service was great and so was the free room service. You could sit in the bar in the early evening and have a drink accompanied by snacks. In a world today where service is often overlooked, Hotel Best Western Canada gets high marks. This is a special hotel in Rome with impeccable rooms and service. I only wished I could have stayed longer. Like Rome itself, Hotel Best Western Canada is a real treasure. I would definitely stay here again. Elizabeth P

« Beautiful rooms friendly staff! »

This was the second trip to Rome for us and the second time we stayed here. The rooms are big and have high ceilings. It has a really cool little elevator running up the centre of the stairs. The best (complimentary) breakfast we have ever had in Italy. The staff are super friendly and helpful. About a 1 minute walk to a metro station! It is Only a 3 star hotel, it should be higher.............it feels like a 5 star!

« the hotel was brilliant »

The hotel was brilliant, we arrived late in the evening and was greeted very warmly. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The hotel, originally a grand 1700s style house, was amazing, our room was beautiful with nice, various touches. However, the bed's were rather hard and uncomfortable as well as the loud, busy streets of Rome to be constantly heard in the background. With brilliant facilities such as a cd player and a small sitting area to gaze upon the river. Food was also pretty excellent, staff were very friendly and the presentation and option of the breakfast buffet was very pleasant. The bar and drinks served were also very good and overall pretty brilliant. I have to say there is very little I can criticize about and that is why I think it deserves 5 stars. The courtesy and linguistic skill of the staff was amazing. The facilities were amazing and the food was amazin. Would deffinetely recommend if you want to treat yourself or if you just want something fancy. Come here, it will not fail to delight.

« Good choice for a business stay »

This hotel was pretty good. Friendly and professional service, rooms fine if quite small and dark, wifi free but pretty slow, clean, with lots of restaurants on the doorstep. Close enough to the central station to walk, but not close enough that you notice it. If in Rome on business again, I would stay here a second time.

« Great hotel with good amenities. »

My brother and I recently stayed at the Canada Rome and found it to be a very plesent Experience. Althought the lift was small , it had character and suited the style of the hotel , which was decorated in traditional style. Our room was very quiet and provided all amenities needed. Special mention on the spotless bathroom, and breakfast , which was best we experienced in Italy. Only six minutes from Termini The afternoon bar was enjoyed with free niblies. A very nice touch after a day's touring. I have been lucky to have visited Rome on many occasions but if I return it will be to the Canada. Lesley M Sydney

    « Good stay »

This hotel is old, like Rome itself. It is clean and the rooms are adequate. Elevator is a lift and can only hold a certain weight limit. We used stairs a lot. Service was always friendly and location is close to termini station. Lots of places to eat close to hotel.

    4
« Very helpful staff, able to book activities from the hotel, interesting lift. »

Our room was lovely, very quiet with double aspect windows. Lots of street noise if the windows were open but the air conditioning was quiet and efficient so the windows stayed shut during the night. Very clean, nice bathroom and toiletries. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Easy walk to the train and bus stations but we walked everywhere in Rome from the hotel. There are several little street trattorias nearby where locals eat, all selling very well priced basic very good food.

    « Nice and pleasant »

Traditionally furnished room, interesting elevator, much consideration invested in safety (fire doors, alarm buttoms) nice atmosphere, good price, bery clean, lovation not far from the center of Rome (10 minutes walk) very nice breakfast for 3 euro, very attentive and helpfull staff, we liked it!

« A really good hotel with excellent service »

We travelled down to Rome on the Italia rail Express from Florence - fantastic fast train into Rome Termini, just a 5 minute walk to the Hotel Canada. We stayed 4 nights and the service was excellent, wonderful breakfast - something for everybody. The hotel has been completely renovated in a stylish manner. Our bedroom was quite large and well equipped including a 4 poster! Met lovely people in the lounge/bar area which was looked after by Amon - nibbles always there in an evening. Ideally situated and loads of restaurants nearby. Access to the Metro/ Hop- on Hop- off buses at the Termini. We used the Metro all the time - great value - get the 3 day ticket.

    « A good hotel for a short stay »

I have rated this hotel above average, but I would say it's barely above a 3. We only spent one night there in a good-sized and very clean room. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The pros: clean, good-sized rooms, okay linens and very comfortable pillows, firm foam mattress (my personal taste is a little softer), extremely quiet ( our room faced the courtyard), friendly staff. Cons: some hallway noise (not extreme), a non-descript bar and lounge area, tired-looking room decor - though not run- down. I cannot critique the breakfast as we did not eat there. Overall, it was in a good location if using the rail system ( a 10 minute walk), and a good value by Rome price standards.

    5
    « Excellent service »

We took the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini. The hotel is a short walk from the railway station. Exit through the side entrance near Platform 1. All the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. We stayed for four nights. Our room was large and comfortable with a shower over the bath. There was a kettle and safe in the room. The quieter rooms would be at the ends of the corridors away from the lift and staircase. Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection. Wifi was free. Highly recommended.

    « Very Nice »

We spent five nights at this hotel. Everything was nice, and the hotel staff were very helpful. I appreciated the elevator in the lobby an the E3 breakfast. The area was quite helpful with busses, subway, and many restaurants, The only reason I did not give five stars, was the price was just a bit dear for the size of the room

« Good location, nice staff, wifi just ok »

Location was good---very close to main train station. Staff very friendly, helpful and multi lingual. Room was a little old fashioned decor-wise, but clean and nice. Wifi service was spotty--that was our only complaint

« Highly recommend Hotel Canada »

This hotel is a ten minute walk to Termini Station and a five minute walk to a Metro stop--couldn't be more convenient. The hotel has been updated--nice decor and linens. The breakfast is ample and varied--it even include GLUTEN FREE PASTRIES. All staff members are well informed, helpful and cheerful. The are lots of casual restaurants within an easy walk, as well as convenience stores and pharmacies--and gelato shops! Have stayed twice and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Roma.

« Seven nights in Rome, excellent hotel! »

Stayed here last week for 7 nights. Had an excellent time! The front desk was super friendly and helpful with our questions and trip planning. Everyone we encountered was great but we especially enjoyed Arber and Vincenzo. Arber was very funny! The check-in/check-out process was a breeze. There is one small old school yet charming elevator there, so good for suitcases but most of the time we took the steps. We were on the 4th floor. There was also a porter that took our suitcases into the room for us upon check-in so nice touch! Breakfast was excellent and only €3 per person, totally worth it! They had plenty of gluten free options. Also meats, cheeses, eggs, fruits, vegetables, cakes, bread, juices, coffee and water. Honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts we ever had! The free Wifi was ok, it was a little slow at times but we were able to get everything done we needed. Location is also excellent, just a few minutes walk from the main Roma Termini station. There was also a Castro Pretorio metro station (blue line) right around the corner that we used a few times. Most of the touristy stuff; however, is on the red line so you are better off walking to Termini so you don't have to switch lines. Colosseum is on the blue line so perfect from Castro station. We also took the blue line one day from Castro Pretorio to Ponte Mammolo where we got on the bus to Tivoli and then back to Ponte Mammolo. Nice daytrip from Rome to see Villa D'Este and Hadrian Villa. The room was pretty big for European standards. The bed was comfy and big. We slept well. The windows were incredibly good at shutting out the street noise. The bathroom was pretty large as well. Two people can get in there to get ready at the same time, no problem. The water pressure in the shower could have been stronger but not a big deal. Housekeeping was daily and good. Made the bed, got us clean towels and restocked toiletries. All in all it was an excellent stay and highly recommended. We would choose this hotel again on any subsequent visits to Rome.

« Nice installation, a lot of service details »

This hotel located just few blocks from the Termini train terminal and one block from a subway station. The room was comfortable, the shower area a little small. We choose this hotel based in two main features, Air aconditioned and WiFi. The night when we arrived the air aconditioned not working, We call the front desk and the answer was some days the management decide to turned off and only the engineering department can turned on and they are not here at this time. We need to open the windows with the consequences of the high noise from the street and the smoke coming from the smokers at the entrance of the hotel. None of us can sleep that night. After our compliance in the morning, the answer was "Let us see what we can do but this is a Manager decision". Thanks God when we return that day the air was turned on and we can sleep that night, the noise level was totally different. The internet was intermittent at night did not work, I sent an email to the hotel at 12:07am and only was delivers a 7:00 am. 20 min later I had received an email with they answer everything looks ok !!!! They need to improve Good location, good rooms

« Great Hotel in an excellent location »

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of May. Easy access via airport bus to Termini and then 10 minutes walk. . Arrived early but were shown to our room straight away. All the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room by a very helpful gentleman. Room was lovely and spotless. Easy to walk to most attractions but also only a 2 minute walk to a metro station. The bar area is very comfortable and the prices are very reasonable with free bar snacks. Aman the barman was extremely helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was fantastic and only 3euros! . There are lots of restaurants in the area at reasonable prices. We would definitely stay here again.

« Good location at train termini »

Make sure you find the right exit "MARSALA", you just about 10 minutes walk to the hotel from Roma Termini. If you continue to travel by train, this is the right choice. Special Thank you to have room ready for our early arrival. NOT like most hotel need You to wait till afternoon to have room. Special surprise, just Euro3, for their breakfast, sure it is much much worth for value, Don't miss the breakfast. I will come back this hotel if visit Roma again.

    « Excellent location, quiet »

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights in late April. Easy 10 minute walk from the train station, next to a metro station, located in a neighborhood rather than a tourist area. Quiet, which is important to us. We had a room on the 5th floor facing the inner courtyard. Room was a decent size, tastefully decorated, bathroom was good size. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the best we've ever had in Europe. Good size nicely decorated lobby. Would stay there again.

« Wonderful hotel in a great location »

Rooms are spacious with painted ceilings and beautiful engravings on the walls. The bathroom was huge and had a tub/shower combo. Breakfast in the most gorgeous room downstairs was incredible for the price (3 euros) and included cafe lattes and all kinds of fruit/cheeses/meats and many hot items -- all served on beautiful china. We sat in the lounge at night and had great drinks from the bar -- lots of bar snacks too. What a find this hotel was. Very close to Termini station and many restaurants in this neighbourhood.

« Best Western Canada Rome, Italy »

It wasn't the best location but it was a very nice addition to our trip. The staff was great. The breakfast delicious and very reasonably priced. It was raining and umbrellas were provided. I lost my camera at the hotel and it was turned in and returned to me.

« Lovely Hotel - more than a three star »

I stayed in the Hotel Canada along with seven of my friends May 5-8. We had two triple rooms and one double room. The rooms were a good size as were the bathrooms. The decor was classy and I loved the high ceilings and tile floors, which were probably great in the summer months for keeping things cool. The bed was really comfortable and they had two pillows - one down and one foam, which was great because I'm allergic to down. As we had to get up early one morning for a Vatican tour we were offered a kettle and tea/coffe so we could make a drink in our room. My only complaint about the hotel was the poor lighting in the room and bathroom, which made putting on make-up interesting. The breakfast was great and there was a lot of choice. You could even have cappuccino, but they also had English breakfast tea for the tea drinkers in our group. We found the hotel staff to be helpful and friendly. Prices of drinks in the hotel bar are extremely reasonable - bottles of Peroni beer were only 2euros each. The location is a bit out of the main centre as it is close to the central train and bus station, but it's fine if you don't mind a little walk (15-20 minutes). The metro and taxi stand is also close by as is a stop for the open top bus tours. I would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Well-run and reliable »

A really well-run hotel that certainly met our expectations of Best Western standards. We had asked for and got an inwards-facing to courtyard room on the third floor, and it was exceptionally quiet - apart from early departures in the corridor outside, as the wall there seemed somewhat thin. The buffet breakfast is tremendous value, and the staff helpful and professional. We loved the slightly scary vintage caged lift and top marks to the hotel for preserving it. The bar area provides plenty of evidence of the family ownership still being evident. The journey from Termini on foot is a bit daunting if you are dragging suitcases, and you are better off going one stop on Line B to Castro Pretorio, which is just round the corner from the hotel.

    4
« Comfortable hotel in great area »

close to Termini so also close to buses and subway (all buses seem to be crowded) and trains to airport and cruise port. Upgraded to a spacious comfortable queen bed room, appreciated it being ready when we arrived on overseas flight. Made our reservations months in advance - and then checked back close to date and found rates went down! Small soap, shower....OK breakfast buffet...different every day. Nice staff but they don't seem to know about good restaurants nearby: highly recommend Alessia and Culinary - but need reservations to each. Great free wifi.

« Classic hotel in convenient location »

Our standard room had a separate entrance area, decent size bathroom with bath/shower and bidet, classic design features and room safe. Free wifi (good signal); no minibar, bed a little soft for our taste but otherwise the room was lovely. Breakfast was a surprisingly generous good quality buffet for a nominal €3 - a little variation in the side dishes every day but essentially a continental mix based on eggs / bacon / sausages / bread / savoury and sweet pastries, plus cheese / hams / yoghurt / cereals and fruit. good coffee and tea, but also one of my pet hates: diluted sugared fruit juice. Cosy (good choice and and good value) and friendly little bar on ground floor. No restaurant for other meals but there are plenty of food options including a good supermarket within 5 minutes walk, though from our experience there are better (quality and value for money) restaurant areas elsewhere in Rome. Location - easy 10 minute walk from Termini station (train, metro, buses, taxis) for straightforward access to all areas of Rome; much closer to Castro Pretoria metro station. Surprisingly quiet area. Nice classic design lift (where we had to manually open and close the doors on every entry and exit) fitted with the character of the hotel. Could just squeeze in four people with luggage ... (but not suitable for wheelchairs). Friendly and attentive staff at reception, breakfast and bar - it was a pleasure to come back to the hotel after every hard day's tourism ! I would recommend this hotel to travellers young and old.

« Very nice hotel but not as close to the station as they claim »

This hotel is very clean, has a excellent buffet breakfast, a nice bar area, cheap drinks and a friendly staff. However, be warned that they are 800 meters from the train station as they try to claim. Also the sidewalks to the hotel are in terrible shape and not suitable for pulling luggage over. We made that mistake the first time we were here and it took us nearly half an hour to get to the hotel. Therefore, always use a taxi from the station to get to the hotel with your luggage. After that, it is a 10 minute walk. Like most hotels, air conditioning not on until May, but they did put it on mid April this year as it is warmer than normal in Rome. No refrigerator in room so if you need to keep something cold, like medication for example, this hotel may not be for you. Would have given it a 5 if they had a small refrigerator in the room.

    5
« Far exceeds its three star hotel designation »

Location is a clear five plus. Steps from Castro Pretorio metro. Four blocks from the Termini metro / train / bus complex. My room was smallish in area, but the ceilings were 11 or 12 high. Frescoes on the ceilings! Quality art in room and throughout hotel. Uniquely fine breakfast buffet. The evening desk staff spoke excellent English and were very knowledgeable on sites and ticket reservations. Daytime staff not nearly as strong. Based on value for central room, plus location and upscale décor, this is a clear 5.

My husband and I visited Rome in 2013 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and reading all the reviews this hotel had we were thrilled to know all the famous places to visit were quite close by We took our daily evening walks around the place and the hotel staff were quite friendly Rooms were tiny but quite clean and tidy

« more than just a three star hotel »

I've been here few times in the past and my last visit, two days ago, was even better. It is very close to the main train station "Termini" in the centre of the city. Staff is very professional, rooms are large very nice with all conforts and breakfast buffet is generous .

« cute hotel and nice staff »

my mom and I stayed here on our trip to Rome and it was a really cute hotel. we were really happy with it! the receptionists were super nice; and a woman who cleaned our room was super nice too and talked to us in the hall each morning. when we would go down for breakfast the servers were sweet and on our last day in Rome, we said goodbye to one of the servers that we saw every morning and she hugged and kissed us goodbye! we were really happy with the service. also the breakfast buffet was good and only cost 3 euros per person. the hotel was a few blocks from the termini station and 3 metro stops from tiburtina station. it was in a great location even though it wasn't that close to the tourist sites, you could easily get to them. the furthest tourist site from the hotel was the Vatican and you could walk there in an hour so it was a good location. you could catch hop on hop off busses a few blocks away at termini station so it was super easy to get around. definitely recommend it!

    « Amazing hotel!!! »

We stayed there two weeks ago. The hotel is near the termini station where you can also take any bus to every destination in the city. The interior of the hotel including our room was impeccable. Finally, the breakfast was to die for an only 3€ per person. I'll definitely stay there again in the future.

« Second stay at this hotel and will stay again! »

Six years ago we found this gem by accident and this time we intentionally stayed here. Most of the staff who provided the impeccable service last time were still there and, therefore, the impeccable way this place is run remains. Every detail is attended to here and I have never seen a hotel cleaner than this one. The staff is efficient and gracious. They have the least expensive drinks in town in a very comfortable lounge setting and the breakfast at 3 euros can't be beat even if you are only doing the coffee, it is a deal. We will stay again if we return to Rome.

« Good beds, Nice rooms, Clean and Friendly... That's the way it should be! »

Located just 5 min walk form the central train station in an area absolutely packed with hotels. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood and 30 min walk from all major Rome attractions. The room are excellent.. clean, well maintained, nice furniture and most important.. excellent beds. Excellent breakfast, especially for Italian standards. Bottom line: 1. What would be on a scale from 1 to 10 that we would book again?...... 10. What would be on a scale from 1 to 10 that we recommended this hotel? ......10. A very good hotel.

    « Charming romantic hotel »

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel in a superior (deluxe) room. The room was amazing: luxurious, romantic, classic, with beautiful paintings and antique furniture. Beautiful street view, windows totally soundproof. There was also a separate "office" area of the room with a desk and chairs making the room in effect a suite. Bathroom was great (with a bath, not shower). There was also a sound system in the room where I could plug my mp3 player in... not just stereo speakers in the room but an extra speaker in the bathroom! As I learned from previous reviews in tripadvisor there was a very good quality bar in the hotel with free room service with extremely low prices (a bottle of wine in the hotel cost the same as a glass of wine in a typical restaurant). As a result of this constellation of loveliness, we spent most evenings in the hotel with no desire to go to a local bars or cafes (of which there were many). When we did go out, the two minute walk to the metro was great, and when we arrived and left it was only a 7 minute walk to the Termini (no need to get taxis or cart cases down stairs or onto buses). Breakfast was great and plentiful (did we really pay only 1 Euro per day for BOTH of us having breakfast?). The cost of the room was quite low (in my searching online I saw similar hotels that charged almost double what we paid for a similar room). Super friendly staff. Can't think of anything negative. Where's the 6 star button?

    « A fantastic find »

We are first time visitors to Rome and after looking on Trip Advisor booked this hotel. Thanks to everyone who recommended it. We have been constantly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the quality of the service and the care and attention. Our room was well equipped and lovely and clean. The breakfast at €3 was a steal, there was a lovely buffet with both hot and cold food plus provision for gluten free guests. The ambience in the bar area which was really comfortable was relaxing especially after a hard days sightseeing. The hotel was near major transport links which made both airport transfers and general sightseeing easy. The streets around the hotel had lots of different restaurants enough to meet any budget.

    « Such a lovely hotel »

This was our second time of staying here and the hotel and staff were as wonderful as our first visit. Our room (which slept 3) was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast is just fantastic. The bar staff and reception staff were so accommodating. We would happily return again and recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Rome. It is slightly further away from the main attractions but don't let that put you off. It's only a 30 minute (slow) walk to the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. If that's too far for you, the taxis are very reasonably priced as long as you confirm a price before getting in.

Centrally located a short walk to a nearby metro station, and 10min walk to Termini station. All the Rome highlights were easily accessible using the nearby metro. The check in staff were very friendly and helpful, allowed us an early check in. The lift was antique and very interesting. Rooms are large for Rome standards. Wifi is slow at peak times. Breakfasts for 3euro is great value and a perfect morning started to explore the city.

« Just as Great the Second Time Around »

We were so pleased with this charming and good-value little hotel when we stayed here last July with a young granddaughter that we reserved another three nights when returning with the next grandchild in line for her tour of Europe. The rooms are charming and comfortable. A feature especially for kids is the antique cage-style double-door elevator that performs majestically inside the impressive staircase. The morning breakfast buffet is more than adequate with helpful staff to bring coffee and hot chocolate, a variety of fresh fruit and some homemade-style Italian specialties. The hotel includes a snug little bar around the corner from the lobby, and on two of our three evenings we sampled the attractive platter of complimentary little food items as we enjoyed our various beverages. A major attraction here is the staff. The employees are uniformly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We extend particular thanks to Aman, who capably and cheerfully fulfills a number of functions including that of bartender. What a great location from our point of view! The hotel is up one short block and across the street from a Metro stop, and about a six-minute (at most) walk from the main train station in the opposite direction. There are numerous restaurants in the vicinity, including the modestly priced but enjoyable la Tavernetta di Ashmawy (reviewed separately) almost immediately next door across one small street. Both granddaughters also enjoyed stopping in for some of the best ice cream in the world at a gelateria just around another corner. The immediate neighborhood is relatively quiet with not too much in the way of automobile traffic and quite pleasant to walk around. At this point in our lives we mainly stay in large American-style hotels, but when we return to Rome this will continue to to be our residence of choice.

« Excellent value family hotel »

This hotel was a real find and exactly as described: thank you Tripadvisor. The hotel was excellent value as they made up two single beds in the room so our family of 4 (mom, dad, two teenage daughters) were able to stay comfortably in just one large room, a huge saving. The hotel was spotless, the bathroom supplied with all conveniences, even a hairdryer, and large towels. The hotel is furnished in an old world style, but the level of cleanliness made everything attractive. The breakfast for 4 (in a lovely, sunny room) was included in the price of the room (we booked on the hotel website) and was lavish and varied. The location was very convenient: we walked everywhere during our 48 hour stay in Rome. The rooms have new insulated windows, and insulated doors to the hotel stairs and lift area so we slept soundly. The hotel concierge took care of our luggage on checkout day so we could make full use of our last day. One problem: the wifi was erratic due to a Facebook login system, but the hotel advised that they are changing this. Highly recommend.

« Well run, trustworthy and accessible. »

I stayed here with my wife and 6 month old daughter originally in June 2014 for 3 nights. We subsequently had a wedding near Rome in May 2015 and found little reason to go elsewhere so returned. In our experience, the problem with Rome is finding a decent hotel that isn't excessively priced but where you get value for money. Obviously in a big city where you are walking all day it's important to return to somewhere comfortable and relaxing. The Canada was all of these things. The rooms were excellent, very comfy beds and clean throughout. Breakfast was very good and will set you up for the day. It sits about 5 mins walk from the main train and bus station so getting to the airport is easy. The staff were helpful too and it was moderately priced in comparison. I'd return to this hotel without contemplation. If you want a comfy and safe hotel this is a very sound choice.

    « Wonderful hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights. Its location is great for sight seeing. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main train station and 2 main metro lines. You can get to any of the sights within 3-5 stops on the metro services. The hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortable. There are nice personal touches throughout the reception and bar area giving it a homely family feel. The decor is fresh yet like stepping back in time. The rooms are spacious, clean and beautiful. Breakfast is good with lots of choice. Special thanks to Aman the waiter/bar tender and the reception staff who made us feel special and couldn't do enough for us.

    « Whilst in Rome »

If you want a clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel in Rome, stay here. The hotel is beautifully located in a typically Italian, historical building and is very well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bartender was particularly personable and very accommodating. Our room was quiet - amazing in the middle of Rome but they have an elaborate window system which eliminates most traffic noise. The room was very clean and well appointed. The elevator was fun - how often do you get to use an efficient, historical piece of equipment - ride up and walk down. With the wonderful breakfast offered for 3 euros, we were kept going for a whole day of sightseeing. The Italians do not skimp on food and it was beautifully presented. The lobby lounge was a pleasant place to relax with a glass of wine after a long day seeing the amazing sights of Rome. The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes walk to Termini (main) train station and the metro is just around the corner - (use at your peril at rush hour). We would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and would love to stay again.

« Excellent place to stay »

Beautiful decor and so clean. This hotel definitely lets you know you are staying in Rome. The bed was lovely and comfortable (2 singles pushed together) which is perfect if you have a partner that turns a lot during their sleep!!! Breakfast was excellent with loads to choose from and set within a gorgeous room. The metro underground was just around the corner which was so handy for getting out and about to all the attractions.

« Excellent across the board, highly recommended! »

Let me back it up just a bit--I took a buddy to Rome in 2009, and when looking at hotel choice, this one had excellent reviews. I ended up booking at a different hotel, which was fine. So, when I visited Rome this past October with my wife and 7 year-old daughter, I went on the search again, and remembered the BW Hotel Canada's excellent reviews. I booked it, we stayed for 3 nights, and we all could not be happier. First, location is perfect; 10 minute walk from Termini train station. Rome's metro choices include going back to Termini, or, even better, a 5 minute walk to, I believe, Castro Pretorio (avoid the craziness of Termini). Hotel is in a great location, nearby to several small restaurants (we ate pizza at two of them). Our room was awesome! First, it was big and comfortable; had a large bed for my wife and me, and a separate bed for my daughter. We were extremely pleased with our room and just can't say enough! Saving the best for last, the breakfast was simply outstanding! I can go on and on about what was available, but just trust me, you will not be disappointed! My daughter is still talking about how great our room was and how the breakfast at this hotel was simply the best ever! Book this place and don't look back. Worth every penny!

« Beautiful hotel close to city centre »

We stayed here for 5 nights, to take in the sights and go to the 6nations rugby match on the Sunday. The hotel is well situated for the centre of Rome, and maybe a 20 minute walk from the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain etc. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast consist of a very good selection of hot and cold meats, eggs, fruit, cereals, breads and yogurts. Cant fault it at all and will be going back in a few months to see the parts of Rome we couldn't fit in, and will definitely stay here again

    « Nice stay »

We just stayed in this property for a night but it was worth mentioning. The hotel staff were courteous and quick. The room and the bathroom was super clean. The bed was very comfy. The breakfast was very reasonably priced and tasted good with big spread.

« Very good & comfortable hotel in a safe surrounding »

Location: Great, just 5 mins walk to/from Termini, and very near to the other subway station. In a safe surrounding, and walk from Termini is safe, is on a street with many restaurants. Room: very comfortable (bed is very comfortable), and well decorated Staffs: helpful, professional Other: breakfast buffet is good Price: a bit high, but I got everything i need Con: there is some noise of a small child running around & laughing in the morning (we stayed on the second floor which guests tend to walk pass quite often, esp in the morning from breakfast room.

« An excellent hotel which is clean and full of character »

This hotel is situated a 10 minute walk from the Roma Termini. It is spotlessly clean, with large rooms that are full of character and beautiful furniture. There's no problem with traffic noise as the windows are well insulated. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent value at €3 per person with a wide selection of pastries, meats, rolls and fruits, etc. Highly recommended!

    « Far Exceeded Expectations - a Wow. »

A super clean hotel. Beds very very comfortable. Rooms have all the amenities and excellent Wi-Fi. Breakfast buffet in the morning is outstanding and at a cost of three Euros it is an absolute "must have" when you stay at the hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and go the extra mile in terms of customer service. No problem with English - all staff were able to converse in English.

    « Nice city hotel »

I cant believe the luck we had getting in this quaint and friendly hotel Just minutes from the Roma Termini, Charming staff , nice breakfast buffet and The elevators old school cage closing doors just brings this place even more effortless Charm! « Great Place to Stay »

This hotel was close to the metro and the staff was very helpful in recommending places to eat. It was extremely clean and offered a delicious, inexpensive breakfast. The bathtub was, however, extremely skinny. The rooms were of adequate size and offered comfortable beds.

    « Not a place I would recommend. »

We booked this hotel because of the location as it was very close to the train station. One night there was a nightmare. The hotel room was extremely dirty and had a very strong smell of urine. From non working TV to dirty Bathroom and room was my experience. It was by far the worst place I have ever visited. Please do not be fooled by the star rating.

    5
« Great service and location »

The hotel is very nice and location is prime. The room had nice space and very charming. The breakfast was great and the location was very close to the train station and many restaurants are close by. This was a great stay for our family would recommend this hotel to any one looking for a great value and location

    « Quality Hotel choice »

Travelling through Europe with husband, teen & a tween finding accommodation that is spacious, good quality and not outrageously expensive is a challenge - Best Western Hotel Canada proved to be perfect for our needs. The hotel is a short walk from the main Termini train station. We stayed 4 nights in a lovely period decorated room with a comfy queen bed and 2 single beds along the wall. We had plenty of hanging & drawer space and TV, 2 chairs and a writing desk. The staff were all very obliging and assisted many times with our endless questions. The elevator is a relic from another time and despite being very small and slow our kids thought it was great. The bathroom has an over-bath shower and bidet! There was a hair drier that was useless and as many pointed out looks like an elephants trunk. Other than this it was all clean and modern. Breakfast was included which is a bonus when travelling with kids. Good selection of fruit, cereal, juice, croissants , pastries in a very nice dining room. We had no issues with noise and found walking the area day or night to be safe. We ate regularly at the local restaurants and can recommend la Tavernetta di Ashmawy just down from Hotel. Good and service was great. We recommend Best Western Canada hotel to anyone going to Rome!

    « Excellent hotel »

A very good hotel, 500 m from the main station and 100m from metro station. Rooms are very spacious with excellent old times decor. Breakfast at only 3 euros is worth every penny for the variety on offer.

« Very relaxed and friendly service »

Really lovely hotel with lovely staff. Nothing is too much for them. I loved their hotel lift (only 3-4 people can use it at a time) Haha. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty. Rooms have ample space and we all had peaceful nights sleeping. Very near a train station and the main train station is also a mere few muinutes away. Will definitely stay here again!

    « Elegant palazzo hotel »

We booked four nights and when we checked in were up graded to a beautiful brand new remodeled suite with marble shower and frescoed ceilings. The only problem, though minor , was they had not yet adjusted their a/ c and heating system because our rooms were always too hot. The breakfasts were incredible, a groaning board of eggs any way you wanted them, breads, cereals, delicate cakes, sliced meats , fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and fresh juices and more. The staff was always helpful, courteous and charming. What more would anyone expect from a hotel. We have never found any other that has come this close to this perfection.

« Excellent hotel with friendly polite staff »

Excellent hotel with clean rooms and good facilities. The staff were polite and helpful and the hotel was nicely presented. The location is good as the metro station is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The room has everything you could want when on a city break including hair dryer, CD player, toothbrushes and all toiletries including a small toothpaste. The wifi was good and the maid service was great and timely. 5 stars

« Fantastic Hotel Close to Train Station »

We loved Hotel Canada. The old fashioned lift was such an architectural gem! Rooms were not tight, breakfast was wonderful (full breakfast with eggs/sausage, provided cappuccinos, etc). Only recommendation is to get some not so firm mattresses, but that's each person's preference! It was a bit pricier than I would have liked to have spent, however, it was worth it to not be concerned with a B&B that could have been overbooked and cause us to move (like many comments I have seen on trip advisor). If you want a good hotel, good breakfast, no hassle, lots of help with your itinerary, kind of place, this is your hotel. We had no issues and were able to have a wonderful vacation.

    4
« Nice rooms, great staff and metro nearby »

We stayed here for 3 days. The services of this hotel is what you expect from a 4 star hotel: great staff, good breakfast and comfortable room. The only remark I have is that the floors of the room are from stone so it is sometime a bit noisy. There are also smoking rooms (one next to us) which might be uncomfortable.

    « Weekend in Rome »

I spent a lovely long romantic weekend in Rome in November. The hotel was lovely very clean and tidy. The staff spoke good English and were very helpfull. We had a standard Room which was beautifuly decorated, the only slight downfull was the shower which was not very powerful. The hotel is in walking distance to most of the attractions (between 20-30 minutes walk), I would defiantly come back to this hotel. I fell in love with Rome it has so much offer.

« In Rome you cant go wrong, with Hotel Cananda »

I was a little apprehensive when the wife booked a Great Western Hotel in Rome. Was I wrong, This hotel had everything you want for your stay in Rome. The staff was un real, they cared that you were satisfied and happy. From the manager to the room attendants they all were perfect. Small elevator but it was fun. The breakfast (Included) was the best I have ever seen at a hotel. Coffee is strong drink

    « Very nice hotel »

The room was very nice , spacious and bed was perfect . Just 2 minutes walk from Metro station ( Castro Pretorio) 2 stops away from Colosseum . The hotel is surrounded by pizzerias , ice cream shops and restaurants as well as a supermarket . Breakfast was great , the only bad thing was the elevator which is too small even for 2

    « Very nice hotel! »

Excellent bed: high, soft but rigid (those who know, understand); good shower, although the water pressure might by on the low side for some. Very nice breakfast, plenty of choice, although for lovers of english breakfast maybe not too much (no sausages, for example). Excellent location, near Termini, and for those walkabout-inclined, one arrives in not too much time also at Saint Peter's. There are plenty of dinner possibilities in the area, but I'd recommend going to the center. The Trevi area is at 20 minutes on foot, and in via Rasella you will find the Hosteria Romana, which is the best!! Book beforehand, though, it fills up quickly!

« Spent 3 days at this hotel. »

Very nice hotel, pleasant staff, lovely room. Great bed. This hotel is not far from the Train station and there were several good restaurants within walking distance. It is a truly Canadian Hotel with a bar that carries Canadian Rye Whisky!

    « Charming »

Wonderful safe, quiet comfortable and reasonably priced hotel. Just a few steps from metro station or 10 minute walk from Termini. Staff friendly, helpful cheerful and polite. Breakfast spectacular and lobby bar quaint and inexpensive. Lots of restaurants around but not much shopping being somewhat of a business district.

    « Hotel Canada Rome »

A lovely typically Italian small hotel ( 80 rooms ) The décor is beautiful with painted ceilings, antique furniture, quaint 4 person lift. Our standard room had a four poster bed, was exceptionally clean, good sized bathroom, lovely antique furniture, wifi. Breakfast room also tastefully decorated, cereals, continental, croissants, toast, tarts??, egg & bacon questionable but we had a good breakfast before setting off for the day. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station, so no need for a taxi if you enjoy a short walk. Plenty of restaurants around the hotel, so a really great location.

« Everything great but wi fi »

Would use the hotel again. Room was great. Breakfast very good, staff very helpful. Location not central but within walking distance. Very close to Metro. Strongly suggest getting Metro pass. Easy to use and a great way to get around. Keep your head up for the obvious deterrents pick pockets.Otherwise the way to travel.

    « Honeymoon trip »

We stayed here for 2 nights after our cruise had finished before flying home. It was excellent very nice, fancy and traditional Italian hotel. Decent size room, bathroom and shower, the biggest of our trip. Reception is open 24 hrs which is very handy for late check ins and early checkouts. Nice restaurants near by - Mamma Angelos and the Brambles. Very reasonably priced and only a 10 min walk from Termini. The only thing I would suggest is request a room away from the old style lift and marble stair case area, it gets very noisy outside your room. Would highly recommend.

« Nice hotel in a convenient location »

I had two rooms in the hotel Canada for a break in Rome, with my husband and I in one room and my 70 year old parents in another room. Their room was 104 it had a huge private balcony and was done in a nice traditional style. Our room was 204 which also had a small balcony and was done in a more modern style. Rooms were well appointed, spotlessly clean and big for a major city. found the staff to be very friendly and the hotel bar was dirt cheap and had a lovely barman. Also special praise for the hotel manager -- my mother was in a panic because she thought she lost a favourite ring (she was mistaken, it was actually back home) but hte hotel manager had a a very patient and calm manner even during a stressful circumstance and he handled the situation perfectly. The neighborhood isn't the most scenic in Rome but it's so convenient to public transport at Termini. and we found quite a few nice trattorias within a few minutes walk for good dinners.

    5
    « Perfect location »

Fabulous hotel. Great location. Lovely rooms and excellent staff all so friendly and helpful especially the barman and reception staff. Good breakfast. Great restaurants nearby. Would stay here again if back in Rome.

« Lovely, spacious rooms, but... »

Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Music available in rooms, but CD player did not work. Location within walking distance if main Rome train station. Owners attemp to keep "old world charm" also produces some difficulties for travelers. Main entrance requires carrying suitcases up 3 or 4 steps. "Original" elevator is charming, but not very user friendly. Limited space for buffet breakfast, but food options and quality are very good. Excellent staff. Close to very good restaurants and laundromat.

    4
    « Definitely recommend »

Stayed here for five nights. The hotel is in a great location if you want the freedom to catch public transport as its only a five minute to Termini rail and bus station. Plus Castro Pretoria metro station is just around the corner. Hotel had traditional and well kept rooms. Well presented large continental breakfast on offer. The hotel bar has the lowest prices for drinks in the area Euro 2.50 for a 250ml white wine!! The staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Also, the antique lift with metal grill door was really great fun to use! Plenty of food and drink options within walking distance. Although these tend to be more comfort offerings than trendy/upmarket places found elsewhere.

    5
« Great location, great staff, great rooms. »

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the main Termini station which gives you access to the metro, buses and of course trains to and from the airport. Charming hotel with friendly, helpful staff. The concierge was particularly helpful recommending restaurants to eat in, all of which were excellent. Our room was spacious and stylish. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

    4
« Good if not overlooking the main street »

Good hotel overall, friendly people at reception, large comfortable and nicely decorated rooms. Simply don't accept a room on a lower floor overlooking the main boulevard ! You won't be able to open the window. Apart from that, good place to stay in this part of Rome, close to Termini but not too close, near some nice restaurants, and 100m from Castro Pretorio metro station.

    4
« Local and typical with good service and nice rooms »

The hotel is a renovated old building with an ancient, but in good working order, elevator. The rooms are spacious and have the amenities you would expect for a 3-star hotel. All is very clean with impeccable service at the front desk. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and has a great choice. The location is close to the universities so the area is quite animated in the evening. It is slightly remote to the typical Rome tourist attractions but you can be at the Termini train station in less than 10 minutes walk and take advantage of all bus and subway connections from there. Great choice overall.

« Long weekend in Rome »

Upon arrival the lady in reception greeted us very warmly and gave us a room upgrade which was a very pleasant surprise! A gentleman showed us to our room and immediately followed with our luggage - he was very informative and helpful. The room was large with a seating/dressing area and a large comfortable bed! The bathroom was a 4 piece suite and every where was very clean. We requested some additional towels during our stay and these were brought to the room within 5 minutes which was very impressive. The room had great blackout curtains and shutters which contributed to a great night's sleep. The breakfast room was pleasant and again the staff were very welcoming. There was a variety to choose from which included eggs, bacon, cold meat, cheese, fruit, yoghurt pastries and cakes. It was a very comfortable stay and the hotel is just around the corner from the underground station, restaurants and even an ice cream factory!

« Good Location, good restaurants nearby »

The hotel's location is very convenient for going to the Roma Termini Station. Hotel itself is located in a rustic building similar to pretty much all hotelsin the area. Staff speaks English and can be very helpful about guiding your way to Rome's Streets and stations. Room is basic and clean. I found the room pretty small but I don't know if this is a Standard for Hotels in Rome. The AirCon is not very powerful and you can't sleep the whole night without waking up once or twice because of lack of fresh air. Breakfast Buffet was nice but not very varied. Overall a decent hotel if you want to stay near Termini Station. I would recommend Bramble Bar & Kitchen near the Hotel for Dinner which is excellent.

« Great location, great staff, great amenities, comfortable and clean rooms. »

This hotel was actually recommend to me by a colleague so we decided to try it. We got a good deal on two rooms and requested to have them as close together as we good. As others have mentioned, it's a quick 5-10 minute walk from the Termini train station and we never at once felt unsafe in the area. Check-in was quick and the staff was very friendly. We had a lot of bags, so they told us to leave them and they delivered them up to our rooms on the second floor. The rooms may look a little "out-dated", but they're actually pretty neat and make you feel like you're in an ancient Rome setting. The floors and rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and rooms were still pretty spacious. The hallways were clean and nice as well. One minor caveat I had was that the air conditioning was not as strong as I hoped, so with the humid days it would get kind of warm in the room. Additionally, the free wifi worked, but the connection was pretty weak. No problem as if you went to the lobby it was strong. The breakfast buffet was amazing, the food was delicious but I recommend you try to go down early as lines start to form around 9am. Cab ride to the Colosseum and Vatican was around 15-20 Euros from the hotel.

« Good value, great rooms, not the best for sightseeing on foot. »

I chose this hotel based on the reviews and the price after looking at a lot of options. Overall very happy, though there are a few downsides. Pros: The main draw for me is the very nicely decorated, clean rooms that are relatively large for a European city. Our standard room was spacious with a four-poster bed and a nicely sized bathroom. Great rain shower, good toiletries. For a 4-night stay I wanted to ensure we return to a room that is comfortable and not cramped, so this was ideal. Breakfast is good with a wide selection and good service. Location is good if you need to use the train or are happy to sightsee using the Metro - one stop is just around the corner, while Termini is about 7-10 mins walk away. Cons: A bit far from most attractions if you want to explore Rome on foot, which we did. Colosseum and the forum are about 35 mins away. Pantheon and Piazza Navona about similar distance. We walked across the river to Trastevere one day and that was about an hour and a bit more. It's not that it's really far, but after a long day of walking around the sights it'd be good to return to a hotel closer to the center. Better for after dinner strolls or drinks too. The area around Termini is not the nicest, with slightly shady types hanging around, though walking back at night is fine and we didn't feel unsafe. Next time I would choose another area however. Finally, the noise outside the hotel was pretty serious for several nights in a row. A bar was right outside our window and one night there were football fans yelling till midnight. Another night we were woken by loud drunken people talking on the street for what seemed like forever. Best get a room not facing the street. My partner also complained that the bed was sunken on his side but I didn't experience any problems. Rooms have no minibar, which is slightly odd. Finally, we were not too happy with the reception staff changing the city tax amount at the last minute. We were told to keep 24 euros in cash for that payment, but on check out they somehow changed it to 32 euros. It was a 'mistake', we didn't have the extra cash, and in the end they said we could put it on credit card. Fine if they miscalculated, it just didn't seem very professional.

« Best Western would not work with us. »

We tried to make an online reservation at a Best Western in New Brunswick, Canada and mistakenly reserved a room in the wrong city thousands of miles away. We noticed the mistake immediately and called the toll free reservation number and explained. Best Western "could not" change our reservation. We came home instead of continuing our vacation in Canada.

« My Home away from Home »

We stayed here two years ago and it is still great. The hotel staff are excellent and it is the best place to get a beer or glass of wine in Rome. The hotel is very close to the main train station which is very convenient. The hotel has invested in excellent Windows that keeps noisy Rome on the outside.

« Good Hotel with a Lovely Ambience »

We stayed as a couple at the beginning of October and really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It's conviniently placed for the metro and also the main railway station and so getting around is really easy. We had a standard room which was big enough and even had a four poster bed and a safe behind a picture! The lift is described as a 'curio' of the building, I'm not sure how old it is but it is fantastic period piece and redolent of a bygone era. There's no automatic doors or 'talking assistant' telling you what floor you're on. You have to open the safety door to reveal what looks like Dr Who's Tardis, but with only room for 4 people and velvet lined walls. You then enter the Tardis and close both doors before selecting your floor. At your destiation you a open the Tardis doors and then the safety door to exit. Breakfast's are good and the bar is wonderful and we found the free wi-fi to be good. There is a wide slection of restaurants literally on the doorstep. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I visited this hotel few months ago, good location next to the central station, comfortable clean rooms, but their customer service was excellent. I was with my mother on that trip, who forgot her leather jacket at the hotel, so without any hassle or delays the jacket was shipped back to me in no time. Thanks

No aircon. Sunken bed. Bad wifi connection. Bad tasting breakfast. Loud throughout the place. Old furniture. Unpleasant stay in a historical location. Only good thing about this place is the bar. Affordable drinks and cute sitting area.

    « Long Weekend Stay »

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of October. The hotel is clean, rooms are spacious with a boutique antique feel, staff were friendly and breakfast plentiful. The metro is just round the corner however you're better off walking to the main station 5 mins away rather than changing (depending which route you take). The hotel is a little further out than we expected, there was also a metro strike the day we headed for the Vatican, so we walked, took approx. 40 minutes although we are speedy walkers. The main hub of evening activity is around Trevi Fountain / Pantheon, taxi from the hotel costs 11 euros however may be cheaper to flag down one from the street or just walk approx 30 mins (safe enough). Breakfast was good but on a couple of occasions tables were limited. Overall we had a great stay in a nice hotel. If you're a single female you may want to be closer to the main hub, not that the area around the hotel is bad, however the main train station (which you have to walk past) has the odd homeless sole roaming about.

    « Excellent »

Easily upgraded to a better room and when we got back to the room there was a complementary bottle of champagne in the room after a night out. Very clean very friendly and attraction very close by as in the termini for getting places quick.

« Stayed a week, they never made fe feel welcomed »

Its a nice hotel, room was small but OK, liked the balcony into the courtyard and though the lift was neat. Not sure how they received a high trip advisor rating as this is what caused me to choose this place post cruise. The front reception desk is a big disappointment, made us feel un welcomed the whole time almost grumpy like, real stale, especially the bigger man. The breakfast crew were good, but again the whole feel is stuffy. Location is good, but there is better. Air Cond was poor. Try to stay on other side of Termini station. We paid lots per nite, I would have used that money elsewhere. We stayed at Best Western Hotel Mondial pre cruise. Nicer, better location and of course made us feel so welcomed and were very helpful. Wish this is where we chose for post cruise.
