    « Very cosy »

I stayed at Inverness Palace for two nights. The streets were somehow empty because of the weather but inside the hotel it was quite agitated... The building is historical and the rooms are old-fashioned decorated. It is located at 10-15 min walking either from the railway station or the city centre. The breakfast is wonderful with plenty of options either for British or Continental and the staff is very hearty.

« Comfortable and Friendly Hotel »

This hotel has got most of the things that a really good city hotel needs. Comfortable rooms with friendly service and excellent food in the restaurant. The only issue is that car parking can be limited and make sure you go to reception and get instruction for where and how to park your car. The breakfasts are excellent and boy do some of the quests get stuck into the grub !!!

    « Amazing housekeeping!!!! »

My mum and son live in inverness so I have stayed here several times. You know what it's like, would rather have complete luxury and privacy rather than stay with family. The rooms are always great, sometimes without a view but that isn't a bad thing. I have to say though that on my visit last weekend, the Housekeeping staff were totally amazing. (Rooms are always spotlessly clean with everything you need). I stupidly left a ring on the side in the bedroom, to say this ring means a lot would be an under statement. I lost my daughter 4 years ago and this is the ring my husband had made for me and gave me on her birthday just after we lost her. It had 11 aquamarines, one for every year she was with me! I realised on the plane that I didn't have my ring, couldn't do very much about it but once we landed I switched on my phone and there was a message from housekeeping at the hotel, explaining they had found a ring and could I call them. Anyway to cut a very long story short, on the Tuesday I received my ring back, recorded delivery in a beautiful box. I would like to thank all of the staff at this hotel and especially the housekeeping guys and girls. I will be back this weekend and the drinks are on me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    « Very disappointing »

The hotel is well located with a nice pool. Rooms are a bit tired, but very clean and tidy. Staff very helpful at check in and around parking. Breakfast was good, although we didn't have evening meal there so can't comment Our trip was spoiled by some items vanishing from our luggage. Very slow and inadequate response from management around this, and the fact that items weren't found left in the room, I can only assume room staff have helped themselves. Sullied an otherwise nice stay. Beware!

    « midweek break »

My partner and I found the Palace Hotel a very pleasant place to have a short stay in Inverness.Staff were all very courteous and willing to please. Breakfast had an excellent variety of hot and cold food.Hotel room had a lovely view over the River Ness ,especially at night with the nearby bridge and castle lit up, Our room was kept clean and tidy each day. When we return to Inverness we would certainly look to stay in the Palace Hotel again...especially room 20.

« Stayed overnight and used meeting room »

The hotel is in a good central location, about 5 mins' drive from the train station. Lovely views over the River Ness. Room was nice and quite spacious. I had dinner in the bar area where staff were very friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly - quite cheerful pub grub style menu. I appreciated that there was no messing about with asking you to sign a receipt every time you want to order something else - they took my room number and that was it. I used the Ness Suite for my meeting. Very nicely set out, with a selection of drinks, sweets, pens and paper on tables. Tea and coffee with a good selection of biscuits, and a hanging rail for coats. Room was airy and not too hot or cold. I must give special mention to Peter, who showed me to the room and spent a long time helping me connect my laptop to the projector - I didn't have the right cable so he searched the hotel until he was able to find one - he was absolutely determined to get it working for me, and he did. Amazing commitment to customer service. I meant to try and find the manager before I left to tell them, but I didn't have time. They provided soup and sandwiches after the meeting, which unusually (in my experience) was served in the bar area not wheeled into the meeting room - this is a lot better as doesn't disturb the meeting and makes for a more pleasant experience for attendees. The other great thing was the Wi-Fi, not only free but no messing about with passwords, it just connected you. My one complaint was that the pool etc. closed at 9.15. Until 10pm would be better. Receptionists and all staff at breakfast were also very friendly and welcoming. Would be very happy to return.

    « Great hotel »

Great hotel. Very friendly staff. Perfect location. Rooms clean and comfortable. Would definitely visit again. My buisness companion ate in the resturant for dinner and said it was poor however I didn't eat in the evening so can not say. The breakfast was alright tho and a good choice although a better vegatarian choice would have been nice.

    « Good central location »

This hotel is within easy reach of Inverness town centre. The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious. If you forget your swimwear you can hire out costumes etc for free! Good breakfast options. A good, centrally located choice.

« great location and hotel »

Just back from great couple of nights at Palace Hotel, staff were very helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. We had lovely room overlooking River Ness. We ate in restaurant on second night and food was much better than menu looked and again staff were very helpful. Wouldn't hesitate in using hotel again.

« Not just good from the outside .... »

Grand old hotel right in the middle of town, ideal for sightseeing or shopping. Has a great little leisure club at the back of the hotel which has pool, sauna, steam and gym. A real bonus for the business traveller. Room was a real surprise - I was expecting old fashioned with creaky floors but it was very modern, nicely decorated and well appointed. Bathroom too was spot on, very clean and modern suite, tiles and fittings. Buffet breakfast is never as good as freshly cooked although I did have freshly poached eggs. Thought the bacon was a bit cheap and fatty but otherwise it was OK. Will defo stay again when next in town.

« big bedrooms and big tv »

It means what it says. The BEST western. Huge rooms and big telly. You won't feel crammed in these room as there is plenty of space. Very clean, good food and warm rooms. there is a gym and swimming pool. It is very central with only five minutes walk across the bridge and plenty of restaurants to pick from. ENJOY your stay.

« great place to stay »

Had a great time here - the hotel is right across from the castle and the Inverness city center. Everything was within walking distance from here. Our room was really nice, facing the river and with a great view of the castle, day and night. Will definitely stay here another time!

« Girls Designer Shopping Weekend »

Visited the hotel on the above package deal with 7 friends. Before arriving, the communication with Laura was excellent. Arrived early and although rooms were not ready, reception staff were happy to keep our luggage and deliver it to our rooms when ready . Prosecco and canapés, lovely 3 course meal, midnight hot chocolate and munchies and a good choice at breakfast. Rooms were perfectly acceptable and got a good nights sleep.Staff were very friendly and efficient. Great value and already looking forward to another one next year!

    « 2 Day break »

Just stayed here for a two day break with my partner, we where welcomes by a very bubble lady on the reception desk, ( didn't get her name) we think she was either a team leader or a manager? once checked in the lady asked if we would like a hand to our room with our cases, Our room was number 6 on the 1st floor, and it looked out onto the river and the castle, very good view, We ate in the restaurant on both evenings, the service from the waiters was good, bread rolls and water was taken to the table and asked if we would like any drinks, while deciding on our order, once the order was taken,we did not have long to wait on our lovely food arriving at the table. We also used the leisure facility's on both days, a lovely swim in the pool then into the jacuzzi and steam room. There is Starbucks in the hotel which again was very nice, you also get your alcohol at the same area,as the coffee so a nice to sit and relax, Breakfast again was lovely ample choice of foods, the good think at this hotel is you don't have to fight to get to the toast machine that is in most of the hotels, as the waiting staff took the toast order and coffee/tea and took this to you. The shower in our room was great a lot of pressure! There was a few small areas in the room, the bathroom door was very hard to close/open the door needs to taken off and planed down, the curtain rail could be made more secure. Overall we had a great few day.

« NIGHT at the OPERA »

We arrived at 1200hrs and a room was available. We had the hightea which was more than adequate before we went to Eden Court for 1915hrs start. The bar was open for business when we returned at 2300hrs and had a quiet and good night's rest before partaking of an excellent breakfast.

    « Perfect location »

This hotel could not be better located. It is on the banks of the River Ness and a matter of yards from the main bridge crossing over to the city centre. It looks across the river to Inverness' Victorian castle which is high on a wooded hill. Very picturesque. The city's theatre is less than 5 minutes walk away. The city centre itself is not especially attractive but it has many shops, including a sizeable Marks and Spencer. Good pubs and restaurants abound, some with traditional music and some more contemporary. Inverness is a great starting point for visiting the Highlands, to Skye in the west and John O'Groats in the Far North, which is my home area.

« Genuinely one of the best hotels we have visited- Thank you! »

My husband and I took our two young children away for a weekend break to Inverness. We booked this hotel as I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in previous visits and this time, I'm pleased to say, was not an exception. We stayed in a beautiful adjoining room which was tastefully decorated and very comfortable indeed (the memory foam mattresses provided the most restful sleep, they are super). TV's in both rooms, plenty wardrobe space, the en-suites were immaculate and the overall feel of the room was very pleasant. We absolutely enjoyed the food- this was a highlight. The breakfast choice is excellent, far better than i have seen at other hotels (there is a lot of options which particularly pleased the children!) We noticed the cooked breakfast options are continually being topped up, so the food was fresh and hot. The 'traffic system' for breakfast is a great idea as it informed us of when the dining room was more quiet (between 7.30 and 8.30 was great for us). We also ate in the restaurant one evening and again, we were very pleased. The choice on the menu was great, the food was delicious and the service was superb, we could not fault it. All of the staff were excellent and were quick to assist with anything we needed, nothing was too much trouble. They were all approachable, smiley (fantastic with our children) and really contributed to what was a great stay. Special thanks to Marlene and Stevie, who made us feel very relaxed and welcomed, you are a credit to the hotel. We will definitely return for a visit, my daughter is already asking when we can to go back to the hotel...! Sincere thanks for the wonderful hospitality.

« Pick your room carefully »

On the plus side: - polite staff - small pool, sauna and steam room - central location - parking - clean - friendly well written hotel guide On the minus side: - The hotel front exterior is old and beautiful and full of character but a lot of the rooms are in the extension out back. They lack character. Rooms on the internal third floor of the extension are substandard (like 311): -Shut the blind or curtain if you don't want to be overlooked. Choose daylight or privacy. -Slamming internal doors will disrupt you and keep you awake. -Poor soundproofing means the people above you will disrupt you. -The noise and smell from pool ventilation will be noisy and smelly. -Breakfast is not included. We paid £80 for a double room (311) and it was not value for money. Maybe don't stay in internal rooms on extension 2nd and 3rd floor if you want privacy and relaxation. There is a £40 surcharge for a room with a view. Those rooms are in the original building and are probably lovely.

    « Great waterfront location »

This spa hotel is ideally situated on the riverbank overlooking Inverness Castle. It's only a 10 minute walk from the station and 5 minutes to the local shopping centre. Guests have free access to the gym and swimming pool - a great way to unwind after a day shopping or sightseeing. The full Scottish breakdown is also top notch too. Top tip: check out the hotel website for spa breaks and last minute deals. You can also pre-book spa treatments online.

« Business trip with doggies »

I stayed here on a Monday night - first ever visit to Inverness. Lovely city and wonderful friendly people everywhere I went! Had a night time walk with the dogs along the river which was beautiful. Hotel was really easy to find and valet parking was so useful. Hotel was fairly basic but very clean and good food. The dogs were able to stay with no extra charge and we all felt very welcome. Will definitely stay again! Thanks BW

« Great location, nice room and good pool but their kitchen staff really need attention »

Lovely Ness Bank is on the shores of the river that runs through the centre of Inverness nice & quiet and very clean room plus a decent swimming pool was all good until I went for dinner. Horrible characterless and badly lit dining area, badly cooked overpriced food and at breakfast still signs of lack of any skills in the kitchen. Serving staff not really caring about what they're serving. Overheard one waiter saying when asked about the flavour of their cake' oh we don't get told what it is by the chef'!

    4
« Not as good as previously »

Had a lovely relaxing reflexology treatment in the spa - totally recommend. Dinner was average & we were overcharged though subsequently reimbursed. Breakfast was rather chaotic to say the least & could be much better organised by having the buffet placed more centrally so that guests aren't all falling over each other. We were allocated a table, went to the buffet & returned to find someone else sat at our table!! Better communication needed between staff.

    « So-so hotel »

The hotel was clean and quiet, but was the hotel we liked the least on our two-week trip throughout Scotland. The bed was hard, breakfast was disappointing because most food items were gone when we went down at 8:45. The second day we went down to breakfast earlier, right when they start serving, but the dining room was already half full and again many items were almost gone. Same breakfast items both days, and serving staff was surly. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. On the plus side, very centrally located and we had a lovely view of the castle from our room.

« Short tour of Scotland »

Excellent room overlooking the river. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. A great stay in Inverness with a buzz about the place both in the hotel and out - lots to see ando. Good food, super staff team and a memorable trip to Scotland.

« If not for the noise... »

I really like the building and the location. The service is good and they do have an indoor pool, great for the kids in the Scottish autumn weather. But the noise early in the morning, the maids shouting at each other, the doors being noisily closed and the vacuums. I really would like to sleep beyond 7 on holidays. The restaurant is pricey for what you get, but is ok. I liked the place, but the need to replace those doors for sure.

    « Well located »

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Our room was nice with a good bathroom. Clean and comfortable. Good location for an easy walk to good restaurants and shops or just a walk along the river. Not a lot of parking and don't offer free breakfast.

    « Great hotel »

Staying here on business and I'm impressed with this hotel, nothing is too much trouble for them and the beds are really comfortable, great location next to loads of great restaurants (do not go near encore en fois) close to all the shops too and a great view of the castle when you come out the front. The breakfast is fantastic too, I will be booking into hear for the rest of my business trips which run through to March, and next time I will bring my costume :-)

« Nice hotel, very good for families »

This is really a very nice hotel, with an excellent location, by the river Ness, and facing Inverness Castle. Our room had the Castle's view and it was spacious and confortable. The hotel has a spa, a fitness center and a very good indoor pool. My grandson and i had excellent massages and relaxed at the whirlpool after a day of touring. Room service was attentive and the food was good. The staff at the desk is efficient and welcoming. Although the breakfast has lots of choices, there is one aspect that could be improved. Food gets cold very fast (eggs, pancakes, etc.). The hostess on the first day could be a little nicer. I went in looking for a table, because no one was at the desk and she told me off with a stern look. All in all, I am very happy with this choice of hotel and I would recommend the Best Western Palace Hotel to anyone going to Inverness.

    « Dissapointed »

I had much higher expectation for this hotel than any other one we stayed at during our trip to Scotland because we paid a considerable amount more for it. Sadly it wasn't even as nice as any of the budget hotels we had stayed at. Maybe if we had been put in one of the rooms that was in the original part of the building but we were put in the newer section which is basically low budget Best Western with no character. Plain and boring. I found it very hard to sleep because the person above me was stomping around until late at night and early in the morning. The pool closed at 9pm which is way too early. The wifi hardly ever worked for more than 5 minutes. Again I feel this is because of the room we were given. I did not pay for the basic room. I asked for a top floor room with a view of the river. I had a view of the side of a roof situated underneath a family of elephants. If you look at my other reviews you will see I am not hard to please but this hotel did not make the cut. I planned on telling the front desk when I checked out but they didn't even ask how my stay was. I was so over tired at that point I couldn't be bothered.

    « Marathon Weekend »

We stayed here during our fall trip to Scotland. It was the 2016 Baxters Loch Ness Marathon weekend so it was busy at the hotel. The staff was very nice and there was a convenient parking lot behind the hotel. The staff also parked the car off site when the lot was full. The room was very nice, we had a lovely view of the River Ness and the WiFi was fine. Unfortunately the Starbucks coffee machine was down :( during our visit but all all we enjoyed our stay here.

    « Time for Two »

Visited this hotel as part of a 'Time for Two' break with my daughter. we stayed 2 nights in a comfortable room with a large double and also a single bed. Beds were comfortable, with good pillows; The car was valet parked for us. We used the spa also, and realised that we should have pre-booked a treatment, as they were booked up until evening. The pool and Jacuzzi were available, though, as was the gym. we didn't eat in the hotel as there are so many good restaurants nearby; the menu in the dining room looked good though. We were going to the ballet at Eden Court Theatre and the hotel is located very conveniently for the theatre. We enjoyed a relaxing visit.

    « Highland Adventure stay »

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights from October 3rd to 7th as part of Great Rail Journey's 'Highland Adventure' holiday. Me and my brother shared a twin room together and we were happy with the service offered by the housekeeping staff. I also admired the service offered by both the reception and restaurant staff, who were eager and happy throughout their shifts. The breakfast and dinner meals were also splendid.

    3
    « Needs sprucing up »

On arrival the reception gave us a key but told us the wrong floor. We managed to get ourselves and luggage in the tiniest lift ever, such a tight squeeze-we were riding up and down like a yoyo but never found the room, so went back to reception, a member of staff ran up the long stairs and met us on the second floor as three people and two cabin bags would not fit in.the lift. The double room was furnished with drab colours, the bed & pillows were hard (personal taste). The bathroom had a 'sticky looking effect' black floor and the loo hard to flush. we did not us the shower as the bath did not look particularly clean. The wash basin of a modern type where soap when placed on the granite surround (no dish or indent) had a mind of its own like the water ran everywhere. The restaurant staff never smiled and appeared rushed off their feet. Wi-fi available free of charge in the hotel. Our room at the front of the hotel overlooked the River Ness and Inverness Castle also the bridge was really pretty the arches were decorated with ever changing fairy lights reflecting on the water. The lounges were nicely furnished but the hotel lacked ambience. However a good base for dining out of the hotel, over the bridge a few hundred yards away a variety of restaurants. We ate at Bella italia, excellent efficient friendly service and delicious food. The hotel makes a good base for travelling to other parts of bonnie Scotland and exploring. We wouldn't hurry back here - they could do with following the lead of the Best Western Queens Hotel in Oban where everything we found to be tip top including service with a smile. A good lesson to learn..

« Lovely location on river Ness with extrememly pleasant and helpful staff »

i recommend this hotel highly. I requested a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the river and the castle on the opposite bank. The staff went to some trouble to get it for me and I was very pleased with it. The staff at the front desk were all extremely helpful and friendly. The room I had, room 20, was spacious and attractive; the bathroom excellent. I would stay here again, without doubt, when I return to Inverness.

    « Lovely comfortable hotel »

Situated on the banks of the river Ness and minutes from the shops and the Eden Court theatre. We arrived early afternoon before checkin time with the intention of dropping off our bags but our room was ready. The receptionist was very pleasant and efficient. The room we had booked overlooked the river towards the castle and was very spacious with a large (very comfortable) double bed. The bathroom was a bit on the small side with a shower over the bath. The room doesn't have double glazing and although Traffic is quite light passing the hotel my only complaint is they all seem to pass over the loose noisy drain cover in the road. The spa has a gym, pool, sauna, steam room and a hot tub and is a great place to relax. The dining room was busy at breakfast time but it was not a problem and the food for the buffet was replenished quickly and the selection was excellent. Unlike some other large hotels the waiting staff take your order for toast and it is brought to your table in a toast rack ( a rare thing these days) and it is not the thin tasteless slices but a good quality bread.(My pet hate at breakfast is having to make my own toast in the toasters that only toast on 1 side) All the staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful and would certainly return if in Inverness

    « A comfortable well situated hotel »

This Best Western hotel is very well situated on the river across from the town centre. It has most facilities including a small gym and indoor pool in the extension. The rooms with the view in the front cost more and the extension rooms have a bit of a back street view. It is comfortable and the staff helpful. The food is reasonable, the breakfast very good. The chef appeared to be an afficionardo of potatoes for the evening menu as it appeared in two forms each evening. However the nearby Black Isle grows very fine specimens. As for most hotels in Scotland it caters for the overnight coach party so if you stay for a few days then the Canadian you spoke at the breakfast turns out to be an American at the lounge bar in the evening.

    « Comfortable hotel »

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel. We had a river view room which was spacious with very comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast had choices and was good. The hotel is in a good position to walk over the bridge to Inverness eateries or a walk along the River Ness. The only problem I found was parking. The hotel has limited parking spots and they offer valet parking but I find this annoying if you want to use your car, we did manage to find car parks but it can be a bit annoying.

    3
    « One night stay. »

Room was adequate although sparsely furnished. Outlook was a back court overlooked by Windows opposite. bathroom was modern and clean. Shower took a while to warm up and was'nt very hot. Breakfast was the worse I've ever had in any hotel and I have stayed in quite a few in the last 50 or so years from budget to 5 star. On the plus side it is central for shops and there is several good eateries nearby. I will not be going back.

  • 2
    « city centre hotel »

The hotel has an extension built at the back on initial viewing all looks good, then you realise the people in the room above are in fact Elephants with heavy boots, the ceiling is alive with squeaks and groans everytime somebody walks across the floor, very disturbing if you want a good nights sleep. The limited selection of meals available on the dinner menu leaves you with the options of fish and chips scampi and chips, burger or macc cheese, the best solutuion is to visit a restaurant nearby, of which there are many.

    « Centrally located. »

The rooms overlooking the river are amazing and we had a great time. Bar staff were all very pleasant and hard working. The spa is excellent and not overpriced. Location and breakfast all great and we will recommend this hotel to friends.

« Very Good Hotel in a Good Location »

The Palace Hotel is located on the River Ness in the centre of Inverness and very convenient for Inverness facilities. High quality food and service and facilities including pool and spa. Rooms are very good and well maintained.

    4
« Close to town and shopping center »

The hotel is on the other side of the river from the main center of town. But the bridge is right there and it is only a couple of blocks to the main area. We had a room overlooking the river and it was very clean and newly refurbished. We had breakfast included and it was very good with a wide assortment of items. They have very limited parking, but the valet staff took care of the car and had it ready when I requested. The only minor negative was the fact the elevator was very slow and small, so you got use to planning an extra five minutes to get downstairs. I would definitely stay here again.

« Weekend with grand children »

My husband and I booked this hotel as it had a swimming pool and we were bringing our grand children with us to visit relatives near by. We stayed for two nights with breakfast included we found all the staff very friendly and helpful. Although the car park was full when we arrived we were able to leave our car in valet parking spaces and leave our keys for parking staff to move. We found this helpful as were able to park and sign in or car in and out as we needed it. We enjoyed a morning in the swimming pool with our grand children towels and floats were provided you only need a pound coin for the locker. Great fun was had by all. The breakfast in the dining room had something for everyone which we all gave a thumbs up to. This Hotel is just on the river Ness and the nearby bridge lights up at night which my grand children loved. I would certainly return here

    « Really nice hotel »

went into this hotel numerous times whilst visiting Inverness and loved it, only stopped for tea and cake in the bar but the staff were friendly and helpful, the bar cafe warm and welcoming and we were very impressed by the whole set up. Lovely views over the river. Well worth a visit. Management should be proud of their staff and excellent customer service.

    « Dingy and tired »

The first room I was allocated at the back of the hotel overlooked a very noisy ventilation shaft outside running 24 hours from the leisure centre below. Unrestful and disruptive, as I like to sleep with open windows and fresh air. It was also overlooked by other rooms so that with curtains open there was no privacy: either one resided in gloom of drawn curtains or was exposed to all on the other side.. An alternative room in the (front) main building on the first floor was below and adjacent to fire doors which were so badly adjusted they slammed closed. Again very unrestful and disruptive. The toilet was a 'reluctant flusher' The décor was old, in itself no great problem; but it is tired. I do not think this hotel meets the standard I would expect for a 'mid range' hotel which is where it seems to pitch itself.

    « Great location »

The rooms were nice. Hotel is conveniently located; about a 7 minute walk to the train station. Bar isn't very nice or cozy; no atmosphere. Summary: Convenient place to stay while in Inverness. Bathroom had a nice feature in that one of the outlets had a plug in for United States appliances.

« Close to everything, great view »

On the plus side this hotel has a very classy feel to the rooms with their very high ceilings and chandeliers I was a bit disappointed in the downstairs lounge area, it was too cafeteria feeling given the building it is in. If you are in a front room you will be looking out of giant Windows at the river Ness. The breakfast is standard fare, nothing special, but all you need.

« Great Train Journey- Highland adventure »

This an excellent hotel for the Highland Adventure (Steam Train journeys). It is 15 minutes walk to the station overlooking the river Ness. Ideal for riverside walks if you manage to arrive a night early for the tour starts early morning (circa 9) My room was unfortunately overlooking the car park as it was a single. Others enjoyed river views. My first time in Inverness and I found it picturesqe and interesting- lucky with a sunny day!

Excellent for the price. Great service and friendly staff. Well located to go anywhere in area. Rooms overlooking river best. Played Castle Stuart which is a great new course. Royal Dornoch celebrating 400th anniversary.

Lovely traditional hotel situated in the centre of the town. All the facilities we needed for me needing disabled facilities, frame etc, wheelchair.were accommodated with Understanding friendly staff. Thank you.

« Weirdly the best Best Western I have ever seen »

I am not sure why Best Western bought this beautiful old riverfront property in Inverness but they did and it is a great place. Big room with a bay window overlooking the river, super hot shower, great service with valet parking, and big Scottish breakfast included with the room. I really liked it although it was expensive- but you get what you pay for, and the location, convenience, and comfort probably can't be beat in Inverness.

    3
« Super location, nice hotel »

Stayed here at the last minute. Hotel sits right on the River Ness so location perfect. Rooms fine and what you'd expect. We were upgraded to river view room when we asked to change rooms for better view. Very accommodating. Paid 150 Pounds which we thought expensive for what we got. Espresso machine in lobby wasn't working...disappointing for caffeine lovers.

    « Lovely relaxing hotel »

We stopped here recently as part of a tour. Although being a busy hotel the service especially the restaurant staff was excellent and we never had to wait. Well organised and centrally located. The room overlooking the river was beautiful. Felt relaxed and at ease throughout our stay. Very enjoyable.

    « Great pool »

Expensive rooms. Nice setting on the river. Rooms are very basic with older furniture and beds. Manual AC--- open window. They did provide a fan. Room was hot, couldnt figure radiator out and no instructions. Woke up in a sauna. My dad collapsed from the heat in middle of night. However few decent hotels in inverness and they had availability The reason i gave it a 4 vs 3 star was the pool was a very refreshing break. Loved it. Expensive hotel with very basic room but very nice front staff and pool

    « Loved our stay »

We stayed here during our girls trip. This hotel is FANTASTIC. Location is prime. Walk out of the doors and you are in the middle of everything. Staff was very friendly from front desk to valet. Starbucks on property take it over the top.

« Nice hotel, great location »

We stayed here for three nights and found the hotel to be quite adequate with a convenient central location. Our room, 22, had an amazing river view. We were able to walk to various restaurants, pubs, and the train station. The staff was friendly and there is a bar, coffee shop, and restaurant off the lobby. The main downside is that hallways and rooms are worn and dated, yet all in all a very nice place to stay.

  • 4
    « Convenient »

The Best Western Inverness was a in a very convenient location, just a few blocks away from the train station. The view of the River Ness was incomparable! The hotel staff was very helpful - the woman that checked us in spent a very long time with us going over the map of the city and giving us suggestions of things to do. On our last day there, we had plans to be out and about after check out, and the hotel was able to hold on to our luggage until we could collect it. Our only issue was that it got quite hot in the room (even with a fan), and for safety reasons, the window did not open much more than a crack.

Very nice stay in this establishment !!! Was made extremely comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere. Would come back next time if I was in the area. Good location for basecamp! If you want to chill for a bit then book up !

« Just a great old fashioned slice of Britain! »

Was here as coach driver to an Italian tour group. The group showed a great deal of resistance in the morning when it was time to leave, just didn't want to go. Very sweet, a time capsule, but if it was excellent fifty years ago, it is still. Something very solid and safe about the place, up to date rooms, free wifi, nice touches in the tea and coffee tray with shortbreads. Very comfortable bed, gorgeous view over the River Ness, AND the window could be opened wide at night with absolutely no disturbance. I hate these new places on airport runways that force you to listen to air con sounds.I actually love the odd creaky floorboard! Excellent breakfast, with the only minus being the complete lack of green veg at dinner. But that's just me. Stay again? Any time.

    « Romantic Highland Stay »

We stayed for one night at the very end of summer. We parked up outside and were greeted at reception by friendly, informative staff who explained everything about the hotel and its spa services. The hotel itself is located directly on the riverside with an incredible view of Inverness Castle. The room was huge and well decorated. With a large bathroom and powerful shower, flat screen TV and gigantic bed, it was easy to feel completely comfortable. The room provided everything it said it would on the site, and more. I would love to stay here again. The only slight issue was that it did seem fairly expensive for one evening. However, with the facilities available at the hotel and the quality of the service, it is worth that extra bit of money.

    4
    « Great location »

The parking took a little work, the room was spacious and well decorated. The bed was comfortable. Walking distance to everything. The restaurant in the hotel was a little high priced but th food and service were worth it.

    5
« We loved this hotel »

At the perfect location of Inverness offering great views of the river, the city and the castle. Big room with super king bed in front of the river was a pleasant surprise for us. The staff is really polite, helpful and very friendly. Nice breakfast, clean room and the english expected ambience in a very lovely building.

« Quite good but could do better! »

A one night stay but had time to use facilities. Location great, parking good, breakfast good, bed linen clean so these are the main things. However the place is simply tired! The decor, walls, woodwork, carpets all need refreshed. Staff were helpful and pleasant but the House Manager needs to up the game. Towels were clean but grey, my sink had a crack right through the middle of it and in the Info book was a 12" long grey hair! The Spa (nice Staff) has super facilities but again they need refreshed, the Sauna has some broken asbestos sheets around the coals, the Steam room was very slippy underfoot - just little things that could EASILY be put right. I would stay again but come on Manager - crack the whip!

    « girlie road trip »

Very friendly helpful staff rooms very large and comfy but pay extra for a room with a view it will be worth it everything you need in room ..ie hairdryer and iron and ironing board as well as tea n coffee facility no earl Grey tea however but I nipped to tesco which is literally just round the corner so I was happy but no safe but you can use the hotel safe as an alternative there is a Starbucks in the foyer with lots of yummy goodies after your long days out ..the use of a very well equipped gym and sauna and steam room as well as a really lovely pool is very welcomed too didn't eat dinner in the hotel but was a good menu but breakfast was excellent with everything you could possibly wish for

    « Comfortable large hotel »

We enjoyed our one night stay during a cycling tour. Our room in the rear building was comfortable though the bathroom was a little small but adequate. Breakfast was served buffet style and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The toast is the best I've tasted in a long while made (we were told) with locally made bread.

« Great Hotel and Location »

Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, it's not cheap, but like all things in life you get what you pay for, especially as Inverness is deemed the capital of the Highlands. Would recommend upgrading to a river view room, absolutely fabulous; large room very comfortable beds, good quality linen and towels, with all necessary toiletries, if you are missing anything just ask, the staff couldn't be more helpful. Good breakfast and dinner, plenty of variety to suit all taste, if you want, or need special requirements, again just ask. Whoever is responsible for staff motivation has got it spot on. They also operate a ?jewel in the crown? rewards scheme for staff, so if you think someone deserves a mention during your stay, fill out the form in the information folder in the room.

    1
    « Starbucks' swindle »

This hotel has a sign outside saying "Starbucks coffee to go" and being a lover of this brand of coffee... I can tell you it is most certainly not Starbucks... It tastes more like dishwater in a Starbucks cup. Not the first time we have been ripped of in Inverness!!!!

« Short break with kids »

I stayed here for 2 nights on my own with my two daughters. The hotel is a lovely location. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Facilities at the hotel were great for keeping the kids amused and the staff at the salon were understanding when I asked for an appointment to have the kdis nails painted whilst I had a massage. If travelling to Inverness again I'd definitly choose to stay here.

    3
    « Great location »

Hotel is right in town on the River Ness within easy walking distance of all the shops, sights, and restaurants. The hotel lounge is adequate. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The only complaint was our room on the second floor on the back side of the hotel overlooked an ally where the trash truck came by around 6am and was very noisy. The breakfast buffet was very good. The facility also had a spa with hot tub and swimming pool, but we did not have time to enjoy it. A solid Best Western hotel.

    3
« Not bad but not exactly what the name sounds like »

We stayed 3 nights here during a recent trip traveling with 3 children around scotland. The hotel was fine and suited our needs perfectly - well situated for easy walking around the centre of Inverness, clean enough, and the pool was a great way to spend some down time in between castle tours etc. for the kids. The breakfast was quite good but it seemed everything was always empty on the buffet -- I guess that might be due to the rush of tour bus crowds that always seemed to be right ahead of us. Staff was friendly and quick to get whatever we asked for refilled though. We booked two rooms and they gave us the two farthest to the back of the hotel - no view of the river or so, just some side streets overlooking a very noisy loading dock in the mornings. The wifi barely worked in the room -- perhaps this as due to its room location - maybe other rooms are better? All in all, the hotel is a Best Western, not hardly what I would call a "castle hotel and spa" (the "castle" part is deceptive, it clearly doesn't refer to the hotel itself, but to the fact that it is situated right at Inverness Castle.)

    3
    « Tour Group Stop »

We stayed here on a RS tour. Don't let the picture of the "palace" confuse you. This is not a palace- this is a GREAT WESTERN motel (motor lodge as opposed to hotel). The location is great. It is within walking distance to shopping, dining and the city center. Our room was nice enough. There was no view but it was clean and spacious with a nice modern bathroom. The downside is the breakfast room packed with tour groups. Unfortunately this not the kind of place that I would book for us.

    5
« Good two day break. »

Spent two nights in this busy hotel on the River Ness. Not too expensive and the food in the restaurant including breakfast was good. The Spa and swimming pool were great. The only complaint we had was being on the first floor at 7.00 am the extractor from the spa below woke us and other guests up. We told the receptionist and the next morning the same problem did not happen. Good stay and very friendly staff as you almost always find in Scotland.

    5
« Pretty good, pretty good............. »

this 19th Century hotel, right close to the river offers a nice location, nice views and a good standard of accommodation. My wife and I found the staff very accommodating and professional also. Well done team.

    5
« Everything was as Described! »

You know how you read reviews and the place sounds perfect, and you get there and ....hmmmmm. Not the Palace. It was exactly as described in our over views. Great leisure center, lovely pool, everything worked. But especially helpful were the people. I loved the people. Kara and Jaye behind the reception desk, they never met a problem they couldn't solve. Ronnie on bar duty. Iona and Sean in the dining room.

    3
« Adequate with very good pool »

If your main concern is to have a pretty good pool at about 86-87 degrees F, this is a good place to stay. Our room did have a nice view, but the décor was really weird, like Victorian meets 1965. The pillows were so uncomfortable I had either a headache or a stiff neck in the mornings, though the bed was comfy enough. Instead of sheers, they have shades behind the blackout curtains, so you cannot see the view unless you are fully dressed so you can pull the shades up. It is centrally located with good restaurants within either a few doors' or a few blocks' distance. Some of the staff is very nice and helpful, and some could care less, or at least are not particularly friendly. There were tour buses parked out in front non-stop (in August) and it seemed the staff, especially kitchen, were a bit overwhelmed... not to mention that the buses park out in front and obscure the river view in the lobby and bar. The pool was really great; we needed the workout after long plane and train rides. Parking is limited, and if you need to use a ramp instead of stairs, you have to enter at the rear of the building, where there are two handicapped spaces which are not kept open for handicapped people. The staff was nice about giving us a cone to save our parking place (sometimes, when it wasn't being used by a tour bus) since I did have to use the back door.

    « Average hotel »

We stayed there during our trip to Scotland. The location of the hotel is great - right in the middle of the town. The interior is a little run down and needs a face lift so do the rooms. Don't believe that this will happen due to the fact that this place is well frequented by tour buses. Don't take a room on the back of the hotel - you will be awaken by truck delivery very early in the morning. The pool and gym are ok - it's nice for children after a day of sight seeing. All in all an ok hotel but once is enough

    2
    « Very expensive »

I stayed in this hotel for one night only, I paid £250, for the stay plus meals. The bar, restraunt and breakfast were brilliant, I would guess all meat is local and fresh, faultless and well priced. My room though was on the small side and my pillows probably too soft, I would have changed them if I was staying longer. The biggest problem was the fact housekeeping did not turn the alarm off that someone had left for me probably as a joke, at just past midnight and for several repetitions 10minutes apart I was awoken to the loud screaming alarm. In the morning when I informed the desk they did not even offer an apology. Overall a good hotel, but the alarm coupled with the high price and lack of apology does leave a bad taste, I probably will not venture back.

    2
« Very poor value for money. »

We picked this hotel expecting a little luxury with valet parking, swimming pool etc. The rooms were adequate but nothing special. The mattresses in my sons room were old and very uncomfortable. We found the pool impossible to use when we wanted to due a large group of local elderly ladies holding an exercise class in it. Reception staff were disinterested generally. The lounge area had loud piped music. It did have nice views over the river and the location is good but it is vastly overpriced for what it is.

    5
    « Perfect Location! »

This hotel offers some lovely accommodations with even more spectacular views of Inverness Castle and the River Ness. The hotel is within walking distance of all that Inverness offers as well as being affordable and immaculate.

    « Excellent »

    « Inn Inverness »

Fabulous location beside the River Ness within very easy walking distance of the city centre. Welcoming reception and large comfortable lounge. Although a little compact and bijoux our room was comfortable and had clearly been redecorated quite recently in a contemporary style. The room was quiet, being at the back of the hotel. En suite toilet and shower (no bath) was more than adequate. The buffet style breakfast offered a good selection of options - both cold and cooked; some items cooked to order. Large busy breakfast room but staff friendly and efficient.

« Great hotel and location »

This hotel has everything you need for your vacation. We stayed for 4 nights as part of the great railway journey tour. Swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room downstairs. Lobby (+starbuck coffee) has great view of the river and scones are delicious. Dining room has plenty of choices and foods are ok. I dropped our dirty laundry at the laundry place a block behind the hotel and they deliver them back the next day all fresh and clean. There is a Tesco supermarket a block away and great restaurants next door.

    « GREAT HOTEL »

Stayed at the Palace with 2 kids and could not recommend the hotel enough. The family room we had was spotlessly clean, very spacious even with 2 comfortable double beds and a lovely bathroom with huge shower which is brilliant with kids. The pool area / changing rooms were also spotlessly clean and lovely and warm! Pool lovely size and fun for kids with floats supplied by hotel. The breakfast was very good too - busy but all staff had all items restocked almost immediately when finished. Great service at reception too - the lady who was on reception when we checked in was so nice to our children too which was a fab touch. Parking is so hassle free it was done for us!! and hotel so close to centre. My husband also commented it was the best nights sleep he has ever had in a hotel. We can not wait to return!

    « Great Hotel - Great Location »

As part of our 4-day tour of the Highlands, we stopped off for one night at the Best Western. All I can say it was perfect: great location and wonderful hotel. My wife and daughter spent time in the spa whilst I worked on some business stuff online with free wi-fi that actually worked! After a cosy night's sleep in excellently-prepared rooms, we went downstairs for what would be a traditional Scottish breakfast: fried eggs, hash browns, pink pork sausages, bacon, mushrooms, haggis, black pudding, tomatoes and baked beans. All I can say it was absolutely delicious and the plate was loaded - no skimping on the sheer amount of breakfast content. Over and above this, the service was excellent and attentive and would definitely stay there again.

« Fab location. Great stay. »

Stayed here as part of a road trip my partner and I did. We couldn't be more pleased with the location. Our room, number 5 was wonderful. Chairs sat looking out of the huge Windows, over the river and the castle, simply stunning. The leisure facilities are great. Fab pool/jacuzzi/steam and sauna, just perfect, staff great too! All facilities in room were great including and iron and ironing board which was a nice touch. Shower powerful and bathroom great. Room had loads of space with a huge bed also. Had Walk out for tea, so many gorgeous places to eat out at. Breakfast following morning a little chaotic, which is our only gripe. Got to breakfast at about 845, seemed they ran out of glasses to drink from, waited for more, the no water, a wait again. Came to get breakfast no eggs and hash browns, another wait. Once ergot our food, no issues, lovely member of staff, apologies didn't get her name (older lady, larger build) saved the day, great to chat to, couldn't do enough for us. Really lovely stay overall, would definitely stay here again.

    2
    « DISAPPOINTING STAY »

We paid £245 FOR ONE NIGHT! and in return got a very tired old room (up in the loft area) with a TINY bathroom! Bed was hard and breakfast was not hot at all either. So disappointing given what we had paid. Would not stay here EVER again.

    4
« Small but Well Appointed Room »

I stayed in a Riverview room at the Best Western Palace Hotel. The room was very small, and on the top floor. The elevator/lift was barely large enough for one person and I took the stairs after my first trip up. Despite its small size, the room was very nicely appointed and the wifi was fantastic. A nice view over the river, though the castle was partially covered in scaffolding. The only distraction was very noisy seagulls outside the window on the ledge most of the night. At one point, one gull was banging with his beak on a neighboring room's window. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

    4
« Group Hotel with Good Dining »

Well located on the River Ness. Easy walking distance to shopping, bus and train station. Hotel was spread out. If you have problems walking make sure you let the hotel know so they can get you closer to the lobby. The elevators were small but the rooms were good size with a nice bathtub/shower combo. The dining room has a buffet breakfast with the usual Scottish fare. Both breakfast and dinner can be very busy with the large amount of bus tours that stay here. Make dinner reservations or ask what would be a good time to eat. The front desk was helpful, prepared with maps and suggestions.

    4
« Best location in the city »

The good: Great location and free parking. Nice breakfast Swimming pool and Spa The bad: Very small and inconvenient rooms Wifi was pretty bad, though usable Overall the hotel was OK - but be careful of the view when taking the rooms. Our view was the next roof which was not very nice.

    4
    « Short break »

We stayed at The Palace Hotel for four nights as part of a railway themed break. We upgraded to a room with a river view, which proved a good move as the room was very large and comfortable, furnished to a high standard and with a modern bathroom. Our only minor criticism is that the room lacked a fridge. Our experience of the staff in both reception and the dining room was very good, and we found them courteous and efficient. The catering was to a good standard and they were able to accommodate individual requirements without difficulty. The hotel is just over five minutes walk from the railway station, and very close to the city centre. We would certainly use these facilities again.

    3
« Perfect cruise hotel but no ambiance »

Location of this hotel along the river is great. Rooms are spacious but boring. Presence of a swimming pool makes some of the walkways smell like chlorine. Breakfast was very good. Staff was ok but bland.

    5
« Very pleasant last minute booking »

While staying with friends in Dundee we decided to take a drive and a few overnights. We booked the palace online the day before and got a very fair rate. The lobby was very pretty. The staff very helpful. No AC, which surprised us as it was very warm in our room but we soon understood that most of Scotland goes with out AC. Location was great with a walk over the bridge to the main part of town. Not much parking would be my only complaint. We did 3 loops until a staff member moved his car so we could park.

    5
« Good service for EV drivers »

I was in Inverness with my electric car and desperately in need of a charge. The charging point for guests at the Best Western hotel was the only one in the area that was suitable for my car. The manager of the Best Western was kind enough to let me use their charging facility. That's what I call a good service, because I wasn't a guest! Thank you very much. During my stay at the BW Edinburgh last week there was also an EV Charging facility available. Best Western is doing a great job for electric mobility.

    4
    « Beautiful Scottish Countryside »

My family and I travel to Scotland from London, and we stayed in this beautiful hotel with great atmosphere. Our experience there was out of the world. It has very nice scenery right next to the hotel. We went hiking in the mountains and fishing in the waterways. The staff at the hotel were courteous, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable.

  • 3
    « Not a great place »

Although the staff are very friendly the hotel is overpriced for what it is. Breakfast is poor and was cold at 8.15am. Although i did not use the leisure facilities they looked clean and amenable. Good view from the front across the rive.

    4
« Very central and by the river »

This hotel was right next to the river and close to a bridge over which was the main part of town and the railway station. We were on a train tour so it was very convenient to get the trains. Lovely walks down by the river where you often saw fly fishermen. Good selection of food for breakfast and on our trip there was a fair selection ford ending meal, although I suspect it was specially arranged. Staff were good and rooms were neat and tidy but our view was nothing to write home about. Parking was to one side but overflow was a little way down the road.

    2
    « Over priced »

We had fairly high expectations for this hotel based on the price paid, although our room had a nice view the rest was pretty disappointing. The hotel is clearly geared up for coach trips. The lounge was always noisy and busy with loud piped music so nowhere apart from your room to sit quietly and read or relax. Our biggest complaint was that we booked this hotel to use the pool and at 9am on Monday morning there was a large class in the pool which made it unusable to residents, they should at least rope a lane off so residents can swim. We are very angry about this as the hotel was already very over priced. Reception were not interested in the complaint. Our room had good mattresses but the other two in our party had a poor room and extremely poor mattresses.

    2
« Short business trip to the Highlands »

This was more geared to package trippers, I think. The front desk staff were excellent and so friendly. Bar staff were surly. It's an old building but the room amenities seemed to work well and bathrooms seemed quite new. Despite being in a premium location and paying a 5* price, I had a poor view. The shower temp was not as hot as the wash basin which suggests the mixer or thermostat needed adjustment. The bed was very comfortable and I had a very good sleep. There were a couple of nice looking restaurants very close but most of the shopping and dining seemed to be across the river.

    4
    « Excellent location »

I stayed here for a few nights as part of a group. This hotel is very well located, near all the facilities of Inverness but in a quiet situation on the river with a view of the castle. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and welcoming. I had a single room, which was quite small but perfectly adequate, with a comfortable bed and sufficient storage. The room and the bathroom had been quite recently renovated, although the shower was a bit feeble. One point I would mention is that there were no sheer or net curtains at the large window, and a block of flats opposite so I had to keep the curtains drawn unless I wanted to be observed, which is not ideal. The food in the restaurant was good, both breakfast and dinner. I can't really comment on value for money, as the cost was included in the total cost of my holiday and I don't know what the room rate was. If I was returning to Inverness I would stay here again.

    2
« Service is pretty poor »

Just checked in at 1230 pm to be given only one room out of two. No help of any sort with luggage and pram. Next room guaranteed by 3 pm but at 3 pm they shrug their shoulders and say "not ready, we can't do much. It will be ready when it is ready". Not much point in their guarantees then! The attitude is more like - please don't bother us! Be happy you have a room ( if you manage to get into yours, that's a bonus!)

    2
    « Disappointing »

The cost of our river facing bedroom was £259 per nite for 2people, which is somewhat over priced, the breakfast buffet was ok but only luke warm if you left it till 30 mins before they stopped serving , the staff were excellent, location excellent but totally overpriced for the bedroom facilities which were also tired , disappointing cost wise

    5
    « Wonderful location »

This hotel is extremely well located. We stayed in a family room although we are just a couple with a wonderful view of the castle and the bridge over the river Ness. From Inverness I came to Glasgow. Arriving here I noticed that I had forgotten at the hotel my IPad and other objects. I phoned the hotel and everything was there. I'm very grateful to the staff of the hotel.

    4
    « River Front Views »

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room on the third floor faced the Ness River and offered great views. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. City sights are a short walk. The only downside I'd mention is that the hotel is heavily used by tours. So the lobby in the morning and evening can be quite hectic. This also affects the dining room availability for breakfast and dinner. Still, our stay was pleasant.

    2
    « Noisy and basic »

Original price of room was £189. The hotel is tired and very noisy, fire doors slamming shut and creaky noisy corridors. The hotel in fairness did give a £50 reduction for the noise (as company business did not benefit me) 4 phone calls later i managed to get a valid VAT reciept The location was great but there are many other hotels near the location, would not stay here again.

« Three-day break as part of rail tour »

As you'd expect from Best Western, this is a good quality city centre hotel with plenty of diners and bars nearby. Very comfortable room - bathroom a bit on the small side, but everything was there. Meals were generally very good. Hotel adjacent to very pleasant riverside walks and of course city centre. Would definitely return for another short break, though it's a lot of travelling to get there!

    « Short walking break »

Very pleased with the facilities at the Inverness Palace - the pool and jacuzzi were very welcome after a day's walking! Room was good size and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent (but very busy with a coach tour in). Location of the hotel is excellent, in the centre of town but with a great location by the river with views across to the castle (and not the hotel's fault the castle is currently covered in scaffolding!)

« Started pretty good but fell away quickly »

On arrival the receptionist welcomed my wife in a lovely friendly way and had baby items we were desperately needing sent up to the room. Our room had no view other than windows from the opposite building with the people clearly visible looking in on us. There are no blinds or netting so our only choice was to shut the curtains for privacy but as this was June and no air conditioning, the room was then turned into an unbearable oven.....not good with a baby. That night we ordered room service and this was delivered by two chaps that literally barged in the room as i opened it and dumped it on the table...i wish i hadn't tipped them now. The food really wasn't good at all, tasteless. The wifi never worked on any of our devices the 2 days we were there but we were given a reimbursement and an appology for this. We had breakfast that was good but the child seat we were offered was still covered in all sorts off food....disgusting!! Finally we found the swimming pool staff unhappy and the pool was cold and almost felt slimy to swim in. Oh and there is very little parking available too. Sorry but this place has let Best Western Hotels down and we use B.W every time we are in the states with no problems ever.

Stayed here for one night with friends. Exceptionally lovely hotel, nice room, lovely breakfast with nice surroundings. Would love to stay again but too expensive. Appletise & lemonade £7!!!!!!! Just not worth the money for one night bed and breakfast and I appreciate there are the leisure facilities but the price did take the shine away from our stay.

    « Inverness Visit »

Hotel was pretty normal. Service was average and so was the food. Confusing to get around hotel rooms if you're on 1st floor in back. As normal in Europe, elevators are veer try small, holding only 4 people, providing you don't have any bags.

    « Comfortable »

This was our second stop on our tour throughout scotland. It was the perfect spot to sit back, enjoy the view and relax. The pool, hot tub and sauna is a bonus and helped after days of walking. Beds were nice and big but a little too hard for me and the view was stunning! Castle view on the river. There is no elevator but understandable since it's a very old building and wasn't a big deal for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If we ever come back I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful. Great location also. The meal was lovely also. Only down side was the hotel rooms were very hot we felt. Even with the window open all the time. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

    « Average stay. »

Stayed for 3 nights. Had a basic room but they kindly gave us a river view. Beds comfortable, clean and even though on the road not too noisy. Decor dated as were bathrooms-shower curtains (for those old enough-Bates Motel). No Loo brushes and we had two rooms and looked at a couple of others so not a one off mistake. Spa facilities are not just for hotel guests so a fair few children and other bodies in the pool most of the time. Nowhere to sit and relax. So pick your time as there were some where the pool was less busy. Gym-well equipped not overly used whilst we were there. Spa-good range of treatments-therapists young but did what it said on the brochure. Downside-treatment rooms right next to pool and changing rooms so door slamming, children squealing (as you would expect) but not conducive to a relaxing treatment. Far from good design. Food and restaurants. The smell was similar to school lunches. The bistro was anything but a bistro and as the photos show it was very stark and had no atmosphere. The main restaurant staff were ok but mainly interested in clearing up to leave at both breakfast and dinner. The food at breakfast was good but the evening meal was very average. There was an elderly clientele with many coach parties. Understandably many retired early so little atmosphere in the lounge and bar after 9pm. In a positive note the hotel is very close to the centre and all on the level. It also has some chic restaurants near by that had great food, wine and service. All a tad tired and if visiting Inverness again I would not chose this hotel.

« Not just the location »

Stayed here 4 nights and perhaps should have booked a week. Is in a very good location next to the river and our room(025) overlooked this towards the castle. Good size room, facilities and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpfull especially Julie in reception and Iona in the restaurant. Also enjoyed the bar/lounge area. Had breakfast every morning and a wide choice of what to eat. Only ate one night and we were the last at a little after 9.0pm. Nice soup and Prawn cocktail for starters. Main course must have been the chef serving everything he had left. I had Mushroom Stroganof which was massive and seemed like 1/2lb of mushrooms and enough vegetables for 4-baby sweetcorn, carrotts, brocali and cauliflower with a dish of roast potatos. My wife had Pork loin with Apple sauce and a salad. If you were looking for a negetive-outside is a layby where coaches park overnight and they often started their engines, earliest 6.45am and no double glazing.

    « Great location »

What a great last minute find this was. After our B&B accommodation was inaccessible, Lauren in reception was very helpful in arranging us a room at very short notice. The hotel is in a fantastic location - we could walk everywhere, particularly along the delightful River Ness. Our room, with a beautiful outlook to the river and Inverness Castle, was very roomy. The bathroom was a good size and had fantastic water pressure in the shower. After travelling all day, we were delighted to find a restaurant in the hotel - the beef bourguignon was delicious! The staff went out of their way during our two night stay to do whatever they could to help us.

I highly recommend this salon. I was able to get a booking at short notice. Thank you. I had my nails done by qualified nail technician Ayx who was very gentle & helpful. I then had the 2 in one body scrub massage and facial with salon manager Natalie. Superbly relaxing. Thank you ladies for such lovely treatments ??

Stayed three nights. Everything was first rate, including the spa and pool. We were in a party and had breakfast and an evening meal each day.. Good selection ,good quality and good staff. Nice comfortable room. The hotel is on the river and a couple of minutes walk into the city. Would definitely recommend a stay.

    « Nice central location »

Stayed for 1 night on business and the hotel is virtually smack bang in the city centre. My room was very nice and spacious but my bed was as hard as nails and not very comfortable and the hotel was really warm. The food was lovely in the hotel and service was great

    « Fantastic hotel! »

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. From the minute we checked in until the minute we checked out the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was a great spacious room with tea and coffee facilities in the room, 2 lovely big double beds and a great tv. We also had an ironing board and iron in our room. We stayed in a family room and found it spacious and very clean. The only issue was that the room was too hot with no way of cooling the room down. The breakfast was lovely with a huge choice from a cooked breakfast to cereals pancakes, croissants and a choice of cheeses and yogurts and fruit. A very nice breakfast! The hotel is situated on the river and has great views of the castle and the river. Very scenic! The shops are situated very nearby and you can walk into the centre of Inverness within 5-10 minutes, over the bridge. Whilst staying at the hotel we drove to lochness which was 14 miles away and took us about 20-25 minutes to get there very easily. We also made use of the swimming pool at the hotel which was lovely. The changing rooms were very clean and the staff were very helpful. Free use of towels at the pool was also great. The pool is open from 7 in the morning to 9 at night. All in all a great hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel, ideally situated away from the town centre but just 10 minutes walk to the station. Staff were generally very friendly, helpful and accommodating especially Iona. Only there for 2 nights so ate just once at the hotel apart from breakfast and the meal was very nice. Breakfast was also plentiful and tasty.

« Lovely hotel, walkning disctance of city centre. »

This is a lovely hotel where the staff are friendly and helpful. I had a very large room with dark mahogany furniture and a huge bed. I don't know if that is a standard room but if so it is great. The en-suite was very clean and beautifully looked after. Food in the dining room was excellent.

    « Great location Hotel »

This is a good place to stay. The pool, sauna and steam room are well kept. The location is close to restaurants, walking areas, and down town shopping. The staff is very helpful and the Hoel is very clean. If you go you should consider a beautiful walk in their park next to the river.

« Fabulous hotel overlooking the Ness »

This was my first stay at the Palace Hotel. It is a classic period hotel. From the moment I spoke to the staff I knew this was the best choice in Inverness. They are so friendly, warm and kind that it made my experience wonderful. We booked overlooking the river for 4 nights, We were gone for one night and the room was wonderful when we returned. The restaurant is superb. We had dinner there two nights and it was excellent. The local dishes haggis and blood pudding, which you do acquire a taste for over time, were really good. The breakfast buffet was vast and tasty. The service was prompt and attentive. The rooms are immaculate and the housekeeping staff deserves praise for their work. There is a pool and fitness area as well, plus a starbucks in the lobby. When we return to Inverness this will be the hotel of choice!

« Good hotel and location »

We stayed in the Palace Hotel two nights, a Monday and a Wednesday around a Highland tour. I booked and paid for river view rooms 11 months in advance. On Monday, we stayed in an excellent river and castle view room which was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious, with a nice bathroom. This room combined with the friendly staff, buffet breakfast, and location would have earned the hotel an "excellent" rating. However, on Wednesday, we were placed in a 3rd floor room on the back side of the hotel. The room was large, clean, with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. But, we paid for a river view room and there was no river in our view. Plus, the room was quite warm and over looked an alley. Quite a let down from the first room. The friendly staff also held our luggage for us from Tuesday morning until Wednesday evening. Moral of the story, make sure you get the room you paid for. Other than that, hotel was fine.

    « great location!!! »

This was what you might expect. Front seemed old and classic, rear of the building was a 70's add on and okay. Near the spa/pool area which didn't end up to be an issue as they shut down at 9 pm, so noise not an issue. Have to say, the valet parking was OUTSTANDING!!! they have that figured out and it was wonderful. The car was always there when we were ready for it. That gets 5 stars plus!! Buffet breakfast was complete with a grand selection.

Even the lobby was cozy , you can seat for longer time and look at the view from window! Very clean swimming pool, and enough space for parking. Breakfast is very nice and waitress were very caring . We will visite invernes and definitely to best western Inverness palace hotel . Thanks to management and to all staff, who pamperd us .

    « Nice & Convenient, Terribly Busy »

I booked the hotel based on two things: recommendations from Trip Advisor and the fact they had a spa. The hotel is very centrally located and an easy walking distance to all the downtown areas of interest. I booked a tour guide for the outer areas (which is another post). The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable, and it's lovely having a tub where one can actually stretch out. It is very handicapped-accessible as one member of our group is in a wheelchair and another walks with a limp. Ramps and a lift are easily used. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and Marlene in the breakfast area is a gem! The biggest drawback was actually how busy it is. During our three night stay at least two different bus tour groups booked an overnight stay and crowded out the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was a bit easier to get to as I'm an early riser and the tour groups apparently are not! The lobby seemed perennially crowded by them during peak times as they waited to check in and out as well as for meals. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent and they serve a nice family style serving of veggies to accompany your order for dinner. The breakfast buffet is traditional, which is lovely. It is extensive in its offerings and even includes haggis! The spa itself is a bit small and when I stayed, only had one employee available (the other was on holiday), which was no bother because I merely booked us at the main location and enjoyed the brief walk over to where I wanted to be later in the day anyway. The Sleeping Beauty Spa is lovely and all the employees are very friendly and just wonderfully talented. All in all, next time I might try somewhere else, but everyone in my group enjoyed the stay.

« Perfect example of how a hotel should be! »

Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hotel. Couldn't have been more sweet, Lauren booked all of our tours for us whilst we stayed here leaving us envelopes with directions and tickets every morning making it a hassle free trip. If nothing else had gone right with the hotel this lady ensured we would have left with a good impression. Fortunately everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I don't give praise lightly. It was clean and roomy with excellent service in both bar where we had lunch and restaurant where we had dinner. Food was beyond good and great value for money and service in both places attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I could go on but suffice it to say we were very pleased with our stay, we hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

« Great Location and Service »

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a great rail journey tour and had no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. We were a group of 40 people and I did not ear any negative comments. The meals were excellent and the service was second to none with plenty of fresh veg each night. I would have no hesitation staying here again.

    5
    « Very comfortable stay. »

The room in this hotel was very well serviced and very comfortable. Food was very nice as was the service and the staff. The main foyer area of the hotel is very well decorated and it has an open fire. They had an accordion player in the foyer the night I stayed and the atmosphere was excellent.

    2
    « Not a palace »

While you could have a view of the Ness River, we didn't. Entry was dull and boring, rooms were remodeled but small. Pack light as the lift can only hold one person and one piece of luggagel bring a swim suit in case you can time it right to take a swim in the large pool in between swim classes and use by the public. Laundry is by the piece so could easily spend 100 pounds ($150). Go down the street for 10 pounds for a bag.

    4
    « Very good spot »

The location of this hotel is hard to beat, directly opposite the Inverness Castle and right on the Ness. The staff here were just absolutely top notch, really friendly, always helpful and with good info on the area. The rooms are a good size, with helpful amenities like an iron. So why not give stars? Just little things: the wifi is a bit dodgy. The lift, too, had a bit of a fault whilst we were there. The breakfast is good, but uninspired and a bit repetitive. Coffee is readily available but one must ask for tea. None of this really made for a bad stay at all, but it's worth a mention. That said, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    2
    « inaccessible at night »

I stayed here a few moths ago. sorry have just gotten around to writing my review as I'm staying again soon - work booked it so unfortunately I don't have a choice. I'm dreading it so hoping this review makes a difference. The venue is inaccessible at night if you are disabled. If you want out of the disabled entrance, you have to request a key from reception which is embarrassing and undignified. It is also a serious fire hazard - by the time the key is located etc I'll be toast. Trying to get in the disabled entrance at night when you arrive in a taxi is equally difficult. How are you supposed to get someone's attention? Do you phone? There's no number indicated near the door nor could I see any buzzer. What if it is pouring of rain? What if you are deaf, can you phone? no you cannot! You could go in via the revolving door but if you have a disability, this is really not easy. You can't climb up the stairs to get someone's attention either! The hotel have done the 'basics' with regards to accessibility - they have a disabled entrance, a lift - but they haven't looked at the bigger picture. Some of their rooms within the hotel are difficult to maneuver, the disabled entrance is locked at night and when a ground floor room was requested, a first floor room was given - great....until the lift stops working. Very poor adherence to the equalities act. If you have any kind of disability GO ELSEWHERE. but you really shouldn't have to. I'm sure the 'old building' excuse will be given again.

    « Good value »

Room clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was great! The staff were very pleasant and informative. Nice local walk along the river and view of the castle. Restaurant served great food no need to go elsewhere. Only problem elevator very small, carried luggage up stairs,

    « Great Location »

Centrally located and within walking distance of all city centre points of interest. Staff were extremely professional and helpful. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. Spent two nights at this hotel and would not think twice about booking it again next time I'm in Inverness.

    4
« Nice hotel on the banks of the river. »

Good hotel for exploring Inverness and the surrounding area. Rooms are pleasant, but some could do with refurbishment. Parking could be an issue for some people as there are very few dedicated spaces next to the hotel, and you are asked to 'valet park' - leave your car keys with the spa reception and they will park it off site, delivering it back to the small car park at the time you request. This however, was not an issue for us and we always had our car waiting for us each morning.

    5
    « Stunning riverside location »

Beautiful location on the side of the river Ness. The staff were very friendly which gave the hotel a great atmosphere. Rooms were very comfortable. The hotel is located across the river from the castle and is Close to pubs and restaurants. I wish I had more time here.

« Old World Charm with Modern Comforts »

A year ago my husband and I stayed in a small hotel on the other side of the River, marveling over the big grand hotel across the way. I was delighted to return and stay there this year, along with my group of American travelers. It was a perfect location, providing easy walks to the central city, plus leisurely walks along the river, and view of the castle. Rooms were nice sized, clean and quiet, even during a busy weekend. The staff were always pleasant and helpful, including helping us to arrange a last minute visit by a local musician. Food was great as well. I would definitely return to the Palace, alone or with a group. Treat yourself!

« Great Rail Coach Tour »

I booked a steam train holiday for my husband as a surprise birthday present. This is the hotel the coach company used so it wasn't my own choice but I couldn't have asked for a better place. It was right on the river by the bridge at the entrance to the town centre making it an idea location. Easy walking distance to bus stops, train station and shops etc. An idea location for exploring. We went on a steam train over the viaduct where they filmed harry potter - quite a busy train station with an excellent service

    4
« Great place to stay »

The hotel is right by the river, yet is also very close to the shopping streets of Inverness and only a few minutes walk from the railway station. Good views from the hotel, especially the river and castle. Very friendly and helpful staff. I gather the rooms vary somewhat we have stayed twice and have quite different rooms. However both perfectly adequate, and comfortable. Both trip were as members of a Great Rail holiday group, I assume that we had the same dinner menu as other non tour group guests. Always a reasonable choice in each of the three courses, Coffee / tea after dinner was self service in the lounge. We were pleased that the some hotel was in use when we booked our second tour. There is a pool and I believe a spa

    « View is amazing »

If anything stands out with this hotel is the amazing view from our room. Lovely location, extremely helpful staff rooms clean and fresh. Brief one night stop over and can not fault in anyway. They mix a mean margarita too yum yum

« Amazing view of the river and castle from our room. Friendly staff. Huge bed and strong shower. »

This hotel was excellently located. We also did a beautiful walk up by the river and across the Ness Islands as recommended by the Tourist Information office. A good way to see nature so close to the city.

    3
« Great Location, very small room »

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had a bedroom on the third floor which was very small, and had the smallest double bed in it that I have ever seen. Views from our bedroom and the hotel front are over the river to the Castle, and so the location is excellent. Only a short 5 minute walk over the river to the city centre, and a comfortable 10 minute walk to the railway station. Staff were very young and friendly, though not particularly helpful, as though they didn't realise that they were working in a service industry. Comfortable lounge and bar, and large restaurant, though I thought that the buffet breakfast finished early for holiday makers. Overall very ordinary.

    « Excellent location. »

This hotel is situated on the banks of the River Ness in Inverness. Our room was spacious, very well appointed, and the large bay window overlooked the river and Inverness Castle. Despite being on the river, it is quiet at night, the windows open to cool the room. There is no air-condtioning, but even in early May, the day time temperatures are in the mid 50s and night in upper 30s so this was not an issue! They provide extra portable heater in the toon, and bath towels are on heated racks. The restaurant serves good food, coffee and tea is always available. There is a free valet parking available if you drive, as we did. Would certainly recommend to hotel.

    5
« Lovely river front location with view of the castle! »

Very nice rooms with extremely comfortable beds and linens. Easy walking distance to bars, restaurants and shops. Friendly and helpful staff. Attached spa open to all hotel guests. Valet parking when lot is full.

    3
    « Perfect Picturesque Location! »

My husband and I booked a double room, were given a room with two twin beds and told there were no other rooms available, and then were told that we were free to go to another hotel if we wished! The room did have a postcard view of the castle, but it was old, dark, and poorly laid out. Tiny, tiny elevator. No one to help with luggage. No customer service whatsoever!

    4
« Brilliant location in Inverness »

Great location right on river in heart of Inverness, rooms are very comfortable and spacious, breakfast was good, there is a spa attached to the hotel which I didn't use but seems very popular, the only downside is lack of on site parking, but they do offer a valet parking service to the optional cathedral car park?

    5
« Includes sauna, steam room, pool, gym! »

Great leisure facilities. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and welcoming entrance. Good location to access the tourism centre, Castle, museum and art gallery (both small) and high street. Our room was above the gym, and could hear the music until it closed (9pm). Comfortable bed (king sized) with memory foam top. Valet parking free for when parking lot is full. Front desk kept our bags an extra 1.5 hours while we were out after check-out.

    4
    « Comfortable hotel »

Room clean and reasonable size. Not a great view. Forgot in the morning and opened curtains and blind to stare at a man across the way. Just as well I was dressed! Friendly and helpful staff. Pool nice and not too busy. Though noticed no the morning a large Aqua fit class on. Breakfast was okay, bacon lukewarm. Could have more selection of fresh fruit. Don't like my fruit all chopped up. I would stay here again as has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

« Very nice hotel, good value »

We had stayed at another hotel in Inverness the night before which was SO bad that the Palace Hotel was truly a palace by comparison. Great location on the Loch and across from the Castle, offering valet parking, spacious rooms in very good condition and very attentive service. The hotel has a fine restaurant, but is located next door to one of the best restaurants we experienced in all of Scotland. We would stay at the Palace again

    « Above and beyond. »

« Perfect Location, ideallic setting! »

Stayed in this lovely hotel for 5 days and was very pleased. Location could not be more perfect. It's by the river with a marvellous view across to the beautiful castle and river. It's also has restaurants next to the hotel and the city centre just a walk across the bridge(2 minutes walk!) The city centre has a vast array of souvenir shops, restaurants, high street chains, quaint cafes(Loved 'So Coco') and furthermore has a large shopping centre(Eastgate Shopping centre) what more could you ask for! Arrange a few tours (Inverness Tours) where you can visit, culloden battlefield, loch ness, Eileann Donan castle etc. This hotel is just perfect, they even serve Starbucks coffee and the breakfast is just amazing with their vast array, you're spoilt for choice. Rooms are clean and spacious and there is a lovely spa with indoor swimming pool. All in all, a wonderful experience, and will definitely go again! One complaint only is the rooms were a bit too hot but then again the building is old so this was remedied by opening the window.

    « "Best" Best Western »

I have stayed in a number of Best Western hotels over the past five years, and the Palace Hotel has to be the best yet! The staff were wonderful and very accommodating when I arrived early from the Sleeper train. The room was superb and made my 50th birthday visit very special! The hotel has the benefit of a lovely Spa and pool. The staff at breakfast were great, the hotel very clean and although there was a slight error on the bill, they soon put it right!! I would recommend this hotel highly and thank you again Palace for being part of my celebrations!!

excellent location, lots of charm and character, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast with plenty of choice. Our first visit to this hotel was last October and I am writing this testimonial with confidence and in advance of our second stay this incoming weekend. « Superb for our motorcycle group. »

We needed a pleasant hotel for a group of 25 in Inverness, and this experience was superb from start to finish. All the staff were helpful and it was great thatt the chef came and met us all at dinner time, nice touch. The hotel is clean, warm and welcoming and the food was excellent, what a breakfast. Rooms are great, clean and comfortable. Although we had reserved parking the car park is small, this may be a problem if you check in later in the day.

Seven of us had afternoon tea with prosecco. Great selection of cakes and sandwiches all very fresh and tasty. Coffee and tea also good. We didn't manage to finish all the cakes but the waiter gave us a box to take them home to our husbands. Would definately reccomend and would go back again.

« Centrally located and very good »

This is the second time we have stayed at the Inverness Palace and we enjoyed it as much the second time. The hotel is very conveniently located overlooking the river and within a short walking distance of the city centre with its variety of shops, entertainment and restaurants. We flew up to Inverness from Belfast and hired a car to travel about so parking at the hotel or close by was important. Obviously parking at any city centre hotel is always going to be an issue, but there is a large parking area near by which allows hotel guests to stay overnight so long as the car is moved out early the next morning. The hotel is a mixture of quaint old world Scottish stone built buildings onto which there has been added a considerable annex of new built rooms. Rooms in the annex are of good size with full en suite and all facilities you would expect from a good comfortable hotel. The hotel offers guests all the facilities of a decent swimming pool and spa, which we took full advantage of during our stay. Breakfasts and evening meal were, again, excellent.

« Excellent and Very Welcoming »

Recently stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, I don't think they knew the word ?no? as every request was acceded to and nothing was too much trouble. We had a very pleasant room overlooking the Castle and River and the hotel was clean and well furbished. The food was very good and we really enjoyed the cream tea. Everything was excellent we thoroughly recommend it and will definitely be returning.

    « Lovely relaxing stay »

thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the staff were so helpful with everything from dealing with special dietary requirements, to extending our check out time to accommodate spa treatments. The pool and spa exceeded expectations and the food was great. We also loved the room, we had a twin room overlooking the river, lovely clean, light room with high ceilings and plenty of room. Only very slight issue was noise from the street in the early hours of Saturday morning but that's nothing unusual in a city centre hotel. All in all a great relaxing stay.

    « Birthday treat »

My hubby booked us a nights stay for my birthday and I have to say I was not disappointed. The room was big and spacious and spotlessly clean and tidy. We arrived late in the evening as we had travelled nearly 4 hours to get there, the recipient staff were lovely and helpful and showed us were to go in hotel etc etc. Parking was easy as the valet service took car of it as there was no spaces in car park and our car was ready and waiting for us checking out. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and we were seated right at the window with a great view of the river etc etc. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that asked and hopefully return soon.

    « What a great room »

Recently stayed in the Castle room with exceptional views over the castle and ness river. Hotel is close to city and facilities. Laundry just around corner opposite tesco is very handy. In feedback, the front desk staff need to treat guests more as individuals. Arrived early 12-30pm. Health club staff fantastic and looked after my car in smart fashion. Whilst I understand that check in time is 3pm, the front office staff did little to keep me informed of room readiness. On asking how long I was informed" housekeeping on a break and when they return they will let us know". 1 hour later I asked again to be informed that my room was not ready. Ok go and have some lunch in the hotel. Ask again 2-30pm to be told they are waiting on housekeeping manager. At 3-05pm I asked again only to be asked my name? Paperwork was waiting, although I was just sitting in view of front office desk for almost 2 hours. I don't want to let this "check in" experience dampen what was a great stay, but wanted to give feedback on how individual service I'd really important.

    « weekend away »

We arrived early evening and first met by a friendly guy from the spa who was looking after the parking. The car park was full but you were given a parking notice to park in the catherdral car park but on realising i had a blue disabled park he moved some cars around and parked us in their car park instead. We had a meal in the restaurant which was delicous, service from Stevie was excellent and we were well looked after. There was 3 hen nights in and a 50th birthday party so it was a bit noisy but nothing raucous or anything to complain about. The room was lovely and spacious and the beds were so comfortable, plenty of room to move around the room as well.

Would highly recommend to other Hen parties, individuals, couples and families. Plenty of tasty food to go round at breakfast and dinner. Thanks for everthing see you again soon.

    « Worst stay ever »

This is the first time i have written a review while I was still in the Hotel. I use Best Western every week and have there loyalty card so decided to use the points in fact its the top tier Diamond select not that that makes any difference. The check-in staff were so uninterested when we asked about the lack of parking, they just deflected it to the leisure centre. When you get to the leisure centre they just tell you to park at the area which says no parking. The room was basic but as it was above the leisure centre which had music playing i asked if it could be coming from some other guests room i was told it was the leisure centre and they would get them to turn it down. Then at 7.30 same again we were woken with the sound of the music from the leisure centre. What is the point of having the 12 o'clock late check out if there is no chance of a little longer in bed sleeping. Thankfully it was just the one night here. Happy Easter....

« Disappointed with this property »

We stayed here for one night while on a tour of the Highlands. Our room was quite small and the decor was obviously outdated. The bathroom had been refreshed, but it was small as well. Our room was on the third floor. We tried to take the elevator up the first time, with our luggage, and we barely fit. After that, we took the stairs each time. We tried out the pool facility. The sauna and steam room were tiny. The pool was nice. The hot tub only ran for 15 minutes and then turned itself off for 15 minutes which was annoying. We had booked with a breakfast option. This turned out to be a full buffet, which was well laid out and presented. We enjoyed our breakfast. The staff at the front desk were not able to answer our questions about the castle just across the road or give us any history on the Palace Hotel property itself. Overall, I would say that you could likely get a better venue for the cost. I would not recommend it and I would not go back.

« Brilliant start to the day »

Overnight stay in this hotel recently, and definitely made the right choice. The pool, Jacuzzi and steam room are an excellent way to start the day and well worth the early wake-up. Cracking breakfast as well overlooking the river.

« Vegetarian and Vegan Food »

Recently attended a funeral tea at this hotel - there was an excellent choice of vegan food on the buffet, soya milk available, and we were given doggy bags on request to take some away with us. Very useful as we had an 80 mile trip through snow to reach home! Top marks to the chef.

« Leisure trip to Inverness, travelled as a couple with our dog. »

Good check in by friendly reception staff. Fantastic room, large with good view to river. Staff were excellent and particularly good with our dog. Although there is not much car parking space, they have a valet service whereby they take your car to an offsite car park and bring it back for you when you need it.

    « Inverness Palace Hotel »

I visited this hotel on a business trip. Excellent facilities. The gym and spa are very good. The hotel staff were very helpful and considerate. The hotel is beautifully located on the banks of the River Ness in the centre of the town. Food in restaurant was also first class as was the breakfast. Highly recommended.

« Our stay at the Palace »

Lovely breakfast and good meals from the bar. Really comfortable and warm room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were excellent, where we can we choose a hotel with a pool. Although on this occasion our schedule did not allow us the time to use.

    « Fantastic hotel »

My partner and I have just returned from an overnight stay here as we were travelling up to inverness for a football match, I can't fault this hotel at all , the staff were extremely friendly and helpful , we stayed in room 021 which had the most amazing views of the river and the castle ,the room itself was large ,the bed was huge and so comfortable , the room had everything we needed and more. We visited the spa and enjoyed the pool, steam room and sauna and off course the jacuzzi was bliss . We had our breakfast delivered to the room at no extra charge and it was delicious . Thankyou so much for making our stay in Inverness so memorable we can't wait to come back .

« Good Hotel Terrific View »

Stayed here on business, check in fine, room on first floor was nice with on suite shower. Lovely and warm in all areas didn't have time to check out the spa. Breakfast was lovely, staff were friendly and accommodating. Some areas are being given a lick of a paint but overall lovely hotel

    « Relaxing retreat »

I stayed at the the Palace Hotel for 6 nights to check out the Highlands and gorgeous scenery. The hotel is in a great position- directly on the river Ness across from Inverness Castle. Easy walk to the city centre, along the river, to a restaurants and a Tesco across the street. The room was a decent size, comfy bed and nice bathroom. I had room service for dinner one night and it was delicious and plentiful. There was a good variety on offer for breakfast and the scrambled eggs were consistently THE best I have ever eaten. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lounge and bar was great for having a coffee while viewing the river. Wifi dropped in and out in my room but worked consistently in the main areas. I didn't use the leisure centre but the pool and gym looked like good facilities. I had a pedi/ facial at the spa in the leisure centre which was amazing. All in all a great stay and I would definitely stay again!

    « Wow! We've just found a jewel :) »

Our inaugural stay in Inverness and we hit the jackpot at the first visit - the Palace is well named ... it's just sublime! Affordably luxurious with a wonderfully warm and attentive band of exceptional staff. From our front of house welcome to the personal touch from chefs and housekeepers alike, everybody was highly professional and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. What a memorable way to celebrate our wedding anniversary (and my birthday too ... great cake, thanks chef!;) We'll be back to stay often - in fact, whenever we come up from Skye for a shopping break in the 'Capital'. Please can we have the "Castle Room" every time? ;) Congratulations on a job well done and we look forward to returning soon.

    « Quick stopover »

After a long transatlantic flight, my husband and I needed a one night stay over in Inverness to get some good sleep and catch a bite to eat before driving on to Aviemore the next day. The Best Western Palace was the perfect choice. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful with providing maps and directions as well as a quick checkin so we could hit the streets in search of dinner, which we found at a local pub just across the river. The rooms were nicely appointed and spacious although the walls were thin enough that the conversation of the guests in the next room was loud and clear. We didn't have a river view room but we didn't really care since we were dead tired and only staying for the one night, as long as the bed was comfortable, and that expectation was met. We enjoyed the tasty offerings of the breakfast buffet and the serving staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Inverness.

    « Fantastic Stay!! »

I stayed here with 7 other people for my aunties 50th birthday. We went for a meal at the hotel on the Friday which was included in our price (was quite a long wait but worth it aa the food was fantastic). The meal was brilliant and there were large portion sizes. We also spent some time in the jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room which was all lovely and not overcrowded. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The only complaint I could offer was the heat in the room, it was unbearable at times! But I think that was just where our room was located so we didn't mind. The breakfast buffet was also lovely, we went down both days and although very busy the staff done well to keep everything running smoothly. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return in future :-) X

Stayed at this hotel on at the end of February. I immediately upgraded to a riverside view after looking at the view online. Definitely worth the extra £40. The hotel is stunning , fantastic facilities, spacious room and of course the staff are welcoming and very helpful. Thank you so much for helping me make my stay special and for putting the ring on the breakfast tray! Thankfully he said yes!

    « Superb breakfast »

Comfortable stay. Room smaller than those in pictures and major lack of on-site parking facilities. Can give your key to the hotel staff and they will take your car off site, BUT the hotel accepts no responsibility for any damage to your vehicle. Breakfast however was really good / just superb. Hot fresh food and friendly staff serving with smiles.

« Ideal family break hotel and location »

Good facilities on offer, Jacuzzi and pool very clean and changing areas well maintained also. Bedrooms were fine, again very clean. The afternoon tea we arrived to on the Friday was fantastic, the quality of the coffee and bakes on the cake stands were in my opinion some of the best I have ever seen in any venue. The breakfast buffet was fine, plenty of choice and well staffed to minimise waiting times for coffee or toast. The evening meal was okay, my mother's steak was not the best in fact there was quite a lot of sinew present on it. I would have liked to have seen slightly more choice on the menu, I would be happy to discuss this further should management read my review. Central Inverness just across the river so plenty of shopping available and also located close to Inverness museum. My family really enjoyed their break and we will be back some day.

    « Awesome views »

We had a room overlooking the river and the castle. It was awesome and we would stand at the window watching the cars and castle. The elevator is very very small and very slow, but with suitcases we were not able to take the stairs. Nice pool and hot tub. Had a very nice stay and would definitely be back if in the area again.

« Excellent visit to a superb hotel. »

We visited in February with our local coach company. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed everyone of them. We were greeted by the reception staff, all keys ready on desk. They were very efficient and welcoming. I had sent an email, requesting a certain mattress. My email was answered within an hour and my request granted. The bedroom was clean, huge, warm and comfortable. Lovely bathroom with toiletries and soft towels. We were given a welcome cocktail before dinner. All the meals were excellent. They give you a choice of 54 things for breakfast. The fruits were wonderful. Toast was the best I have ever tasted in a hotel. Dinner was delicious every evening. The dining room staff were, friendly and efficient. The only thing I didn't like was how certain guests dressed for dinner, one man wore shorts and vest, in February as well. The swimming pool, spa and gym was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, couldn't have been more helpful. Towels were given on entry. The location is great, on the banks of the River Ness. The shopping centre is a short walk away. The railway station is also nearby. It was lovely to walk and cross over the islands in the river. Thank to everyone who looked after us so very well. We will be back, that's a promise. You have a hotel to be proud of.

« Best of the Best Westerns »

We try to stay at Best Westerns when we can. We generally like the hotels and services provided. This one by far exceeded our expectations. Excellent rooms, service, location, staff, food, everything was top notch. Thank you all for the wonderful stay.

« Lovely location, helpful staff »

Hotel is located on the river and it's within walking distance of the town centre, less than 5 minute walk. So the location is excellent! We arrived slightly too early for check in, but easily got a parking space in the free hotel car park and were able to leave our luggage in reception whilst we went for a wander. When we returned our room was ready and they had already taken our bags up for us - very handy! Room was nice and spacious, large king sized bed and a separate seated area with table and two chairs. Room was stifling hot though, both heaters were up to the max and it was unbearable. Turned heating down and headed to the pool/spa area which is included in the stay. Pool/jacuzzi/steam room/sauna and fitness suite. It was lovely to relax for a while before dinner. Found the room had cooled somewhat when we returned so we showered and headed out. When we returned the heaters were still off but room was still very very hot, unsure if it was heat from corridor or heat rising from other rooms, but reception will provide a fan if you wish - I wish we had! It was an uncomfortable sleep in that heat even with the covers kicked off and the window open. So that was our only gripe. The staff were pleasant and helpful and friendly, the amenities were excellent and the rooms are a good size, just bear in mind the heat and definitely request a fan in advance , this was in February so I'd hate to think what July is like.

« Great Location, helpful staff »

Booked hotel largely on the back of reviews. Possibly done a dis-service. Found the room large and spacious, upgraded to a front river view which is well worth it, looking across to the castle. Staff were friendly, corteous and efficient. Location of hotel is excellent, about 100 yards from the bridge which itself is 100 yards from city centre shopping area. Loads of restaurants nearby. On site parking and valet parking that seemed to consist of double parking in their car park, but meant the car was always handy. Only minor gripe was the stifling heat. OK it's February, but its a very mild winter, turn the heating down. We had to switch the radiator off, open the windows all night, and still the heat from the lobby was more than enough. That apart, a fabulous hotel in a great location.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

We arrived very early morning having arrived on the overnight sleeper train. The staff, the room, the food were all faultless. We had a fantastic stay in one of the river view rooms, which is well worth the little extra. Excellent location just outside of the hustle of central Inverness.. Cannot praise it high enough. I've stayed in many Best Westerns but this is by far the best.

« Lovely location and friendly staff »

We stayed here for 2 nights for a short break. Rooms were lovely and spacious and very clean. The furniture was a little dated but could be something to improve on. We were at the back of the hotel and a room next to a lift but it wasn't to noisy at all. The floor boards from the room above and the outside corridor were very noisy and woke us up quite a few times. The staff were very friendly and always there to hand if you needed anything. The facilities were excellent however here comes the downside....the pool and spa area. The facilities were clean and tidy but just too small. We were excited to relax in this area (one of the reasons we chose this hotel) but instead we were swamped with children who took over the place. I could not swim in the pool and the adult jacuzzi was full of children shouting. The children were in the jacuzzi unsupervised and the staff payed no attention to this! I understand this is a family hotel and children should be able to use the facilities as well but maybe the hotel should allow an hour or so in the evening for an adult only swim and relaxation. I'm not sure if this is in place already but there was no time table or info on the fitness suite in our room. We were so very disappointed by this and will probably not return unless we can have some adult time in this area. Apart from that the location and service was excellent.

    « Kitchen Kicking Off »

Had a lovely meal however something was kicking off in the kitchen. This is the second time this has happened when I've been in the hotel for a meal. Not very professional and this issue should be sorted sooner rather than later. Shame as a great place.

« Great location, excellent hotel, friendly staff. »

I returned to the Inverness Palace in February. As the hotel was quiet I was put in a river view room. It is great to wake up in the morning and see the Ness, Inverness Castle and the bridges from the window. I put my desk under the window and was able to look at the view whilst writing. Very inspiring. The hotel is only a short walk to the city centre, so everyting is in easy reach. There are great restaurants nearby if you don't fancy the hotel's own fare and The King's Highway pub offers a bargain breakfast. This hotel feels cared for by the management and I would heartily recommend it.

« Sheets not very clean »

Room was a bit smelly and sheets were not very clean. Staff was very friendly. Hotel is on a good location in the center of Inverness. I did not use the swimming pool. Parking lot is overcrowded and staff had to move the car later at night.

« OK, but could be better... »

Stayed one night in January 2016 - unfortunately, during refurbishment of front lounge/Starbucks coffee lounge, so cold and draughty and very uninviting in front lounge. Twin room at back of hotel was very spacious and pleasant with lovely new bathroom, but was VERY cold - faulty radiator! Staff all very pleasant but despite emailing hotel and also writing to the manager regarding these concerns, I have not received any reply as yet.

« Let down only by parking... However........ »

... I've had a wonderful experience with this hotel, continued even after leaving. Let's go with the basics. I had a castle view riverside room, which was fantastic. The room was really clean, very warm (I turned off the heating!), nicely laid out and comfortable. I sleep badly, so being able to gaze out the window at the fast flowing river, with a nice cup of tea, in a comfy chair was fantastic. The restaurant. I arrived late the first night and couldn't be bothered going for food, so I missed out. That was my bad. The second night I didn't make that mistake, and was very surprised. Excellent standard of food, service was fantastic, no waiting beyond what would be expected for food preparation and cooking. Nice wine list too. Was too full to manage dessert, sadly. Maybe next time. The bar. I didn't go in here to sample a distillery or twelve. I went in to relax, let my meal settle, and read more of my book. I sat near the fireplace, with a tidy glass of wine, and finished off the Martian. Really relaxing, attentive staff, everyone seemed cheerful. That atmosphere carries well for guests. Top marks. I didn't get to try the gym or spa but it was always busy - a good sign! Again maybe next time. Parking. This was my only issue. The car park was tiny, which was a shame. No info about where else to park so I abandoned my car both nights near the electric charging point. Not in a space. Not great. However when I filled in the survey for BW, Della replied quick sticks and gave me some fantastic info which will be great for my next trip up there. Della said I'm welcome to copy paste the relevant bits into here which may help others, so: "We hire an additional 20 spaces at the Cathedral car park, a 5 minute walk away which we take your car to for you and bring it back when you need it.  The leisure club manage the parking so they will arrange the space for you." If this isn't made clear at booking, hopefully this will help, although Della does try and ensure this happens upon checking in. All in all, fantastic stay. Can't wait to go back! Oh, and please enjoy my photo of a rather inquisitive seagull. Watched intently as I drank my cup of tea.

    « Very nice!! »

Just returned from a 2 night spa break with the wife! Don't think I could fault this hotel We were lucky and had the Castle View room! it was massive with all the mod cons! Spotless! Took good advantage of the free bar option and the lads behind the bar were very pleasant!! The meals were first class and high quality! A wee mention to Steve who took care of us at meal times! nothing was a problem! all the staff were helpful and well mannered!! The spa was as you would expect very good and again staff very helpfull!! Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone and as my Father used to say You only get what you pay for!

« So much potential and just on the brink of Brilliance! »

But you know what, it's always about the person leading the team and in this hotel it's just not enough... Restaurant..well stick 'A Manager's undercover friend' into the Restaurant and see what they report back, cause it ain't so good... Lots of great intentions and again Management! Rooms really spot on.., especially Riverside and clean etc, as you might expect...Bar well ( here we go) lots of great intention...as you might expect but I guess led by the beverage manager (or not) and thus probably The Hotel Manager (thus needing!) Loved the place and with so much potential it's so sad that it hasn't had anyone to 'blind taste' the service and deal with the honest results! I'm back in two months, so let's see if it matters to you and if you grab the chance to make us all happy! Great place, great location and great staff...no-one Managing! But you know what?... they are full or probably over their 76% occupancy so probably rely on that to get by! But wouldn't it be perfect if they recognised their downfalls and made the experience ... Like the spa area, really great!

« Very good in most areas, some room for improvement. »

We stayed here last week just for the night whilst shopping in Inverness. We had a lovely room on the third floor overlooking the river and Castle, it was a standard double, slightly on the small side, but clean and comfortable with a great shower. A special mention must go to the evening porter who responded quickly when our heating wasn't working and quickly fixed it for us. The hotel is in a great location, just a five minute walk to the centre of Inverness with free parking. There is a lovely pool, gym and spa, and the public areas are warm and welcoming. Just one thing stops me from rating this hotel as excellent, the breakfast. There is a good choice, a hot buffet, cereals, cheeses and cooked meats etc, but the quality of the hot items let the breakfast down and in particular, the sausages, bacon and black pudding. The coffee was good though. We will definitely return.

« Good stay, as always »

Checked in early with no problem as room was ready. Lovely large room, overlooking the river and castle. Lovely location. Room was warm but not a problem on a cold February night. Staff pleasant and buffet breakfast very good. Only downside was the price of drinks in the hotel bar - £4.60 for a can of Guiness??! Plenty of other places nearby for a drink if needed. So all in all a pleasant stay.

    « Disapointed »

Having stayed in the palace a number of times and always been very pleased we were very disappointed with our room. The room was very small as was the bed, it being a small double. They advertise large sized beds but definitely not this one. The door to our room had a two inch gap at the bottom of it and even up each side, it wasn't a proper fit as the corridor lights shone through in the dark. We actually put cushions on the floor at the door to block the light coming through and you also heard every movement in the corridor. Having said that all the staff as usual were extremely pleasant and well mannered and the food was very good.

« Good hotel, great location and lovely city »

Old Victorian building which has been kept well up to date with pool, gym and Starbucks coffee shop. Rooms are comfy, warm and well decorated though seem to be all sorts of shapes. Great location just across the River Ness from the city centre of Inverness. Walkable from both bus and train station though you might want to take a taxi if you've got much luggage. Parking however is not so good with a useful loading bay and maybe twenty spaces for both hotel and spa guests. There is valet parking too but it's a bit time consuming to get it back in the morning. Street parking is free after 6 pm but you need to move it by 8am! Or pay£1 for another hour. Inverness was looking it's winter best - cold well below zero all day but dry, sunny and very bright. The Palace is well placed to explore the town and its attractions from shopping, the museum, botanic gardens and the Highland Archives. Didn't eat in in the evening as there's many good places just a few minutes away on the riverside. Breakfast is self-service and very adequate. Not a bad city centre hotel. Used it for a course and got good support from the staff.

« Close to being really good, scope for improvement, slightly mixed experience »

This is a good hotel and delivers a pleasant enough stay, but it would be straightforward for them to make it better. We went on the sleeper train so arrived fairly early in the day, we were allowed to drop bags, but they have no bag room as such so left in the office (this must happen very often). Check in is 3pm, with no prospect of an early room- at 3.02pm we went back to the counter and the person on duty said still not all ready, but she was over-ruled by another member of staff who said on our behalf "it's past 3- they have to be ready". New rooms were identified. The room turned out to be very hot- even with the window open and the radiator turned down, not a problem we thought we would face in February in northern Scotland. The fundamentals are all there- good position, good building, many of the staff friendly and attentive (top marks to the male member of staff who had just started training on reception), decent rooms and food, but just a slight malaise that prevents somewhere from being very good indeed.

    « river view »

My wife and I have been going to inverness for the past 8 years, this is the 1st time we have stopped in the centre of the city having always stopped in either a premier inn or Travelodge. The palace is great hotel in a fantastic position on the riverside. I booked a room with a river view, the room was an excellent size with two queen sized beds, the décor could do with a touch of modernisation, but that is by the by. The one minor complaint is the size of the lift in the main lobby, lets just say if your on the large size it will not take more than two without luggage. The palace has excellent staff, nothing was to much trouble, they were friendly, and attentive. On the food side the breakfasts were excellent, with a great choice for anyone's taste, even though we did not eat there at night the a la carte menu seemed to have a good choice, we did how ever use the brassaire on the 1st night which also had a good choice, I had a gammon steak which just fell apart as I cut into it, and my wife had scampi. The hotel serves Starbuck's coffee much to the delight of my wife. The whole package is the reason why I have given the palace an excellent review

    « A few nights in Scotland »

The hotel is nice enough but nothing extraordinarily special. We arrived at 12 knowing that checkin wasn't until 3 and were OK with that. So we sat in the lounge and were allowed to use the pool. But they didn't hurry things along at all knowing we were there: we got our rooms precisely at three and no earlier. The entirely hotel is extremely hot as well. We can't seem to turn the room down, and have kept the Windows open the whole time. Also asked for the gas fire in the lounge to be turned down, but apparently is not possible. Seems like a huge waste of energy. The staff however are otherwise nice, accommodating in our food requests and are attentive to our queries. So I give three stars as a good thing, but nothing is above and beyond.

    « Brilliant weekend »

Very enjoyable stay at this relaxing hotel, dog friendly as well so our wee dog Zoe had a ball. The bedroom was spacious, clean and homely pieces of furniture to make it cosy looking. The food was excellent, staff very pleasant. The lift was out of action but that didn't matter.. Used the hotel as a base to explore further. Day trips to Kyle of lochalsh and Aberdeen.

    « Very Nice »

I stayed at the Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel & Spa in December 2015. It's a beautiful building, right along the River Ness. It was affordable, clean, and mostly comfortable. Unfortunately, when I was there, the hot water system was being replaced. This caused a few disruptions with the heated swimming pool and the showers at the gym (it really was not too bad, but listening to the regulars complain was a pain). The gym is tiny - minuscule even. It had a few cardio machines, and a few weights, but no squat rack (or even a smith machine) - which isn't that big a deal, but I had to be a bit creative with my usual routine. The steam room was about the size of a small closet, it was nice but a bit grubby. Breakfast wasn't worth writing home about... but who visit's Inverness for breakfast? There as plenty of tea (avoid the coffee!! That was truly bad), and the usual selection of hot and cold edibles. The room was clean, and of a good size. The bathroom was immaculate. Yeah, it was nice.

« Very nice hotel. Great Location. Clean and has a Pool »

We really liked this hotel a lot! Good value for your money. It is in a great location for people who are visiting Loch Ness. It is right in town, and you can walk to anything you might need. The room was large and clean. The hotel restaurant was also really good, and the staff was very helpful. They have parking which was helpful to us. Also, they have a health club attached to the hotel, so you can swim and use the hot tub if you are staying at the hotel. The hotel is right on the water, so it is fun to walk all around the town and along the river. It is about a 30 minute drive to Loch Ness.

    « A real gem!!!! »

Stayed here for 2 nights in January and I have to say we had a fantastic stay!!! From start to finish every member of staff we had contact with was warm, friendly and very professional, so much so that you couldn't help but notice!! The room we had overlooked the castle and the River Ness which was a lovely bonus. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the bedroom really spacious with a really comfy bed. Breakfast was fantastic with a lovely range of options, properly cooked porridge, fruit, continental items, lots of choices. The hot breakfast items were served at the buffet and everything was well topped up and perfectly cooked. The staff at breakfast were all happy, helpful and very efficient, especially Iona!! The hotel has a lovely pool and spa area too!! Upon arrival even the staff arranged to park our car as the car park was full. Nothing was any trouble for them. All in all a really lovely stay, very worthy of a visit. You can tell this is a very well run hotel with happy staff and great management!! Thank you again, we hope to return again and I've already recommended you.

« Great staff who really put the effort in for our anniversary. »

Stayed at the hotel for our anniversary trip away, and I have to say the hotel went above and beyond for our trip. I phones ahaead and let them know what I wanted to do, and they carried it out with no fuss and it was exactly how I imagined. Hugely helpful and friendly, the staff were excellent. I would also recommend requesting the Catle Room. It was the size of a small flat and had amazing views of the Castle and River.

« Nearly perfect but no cigar »

Hi there what can I say about this hotel I'm going to start at the wrong end breakfast was great staff where nice friendly polite if they served breakfast from 630am that would be ace but that's just me being picky I'm an early riser the rooms where clean comfy and spacious the beds really comfy best night sleep i have had in a long time two little points a little more voluntary information from reception staff would be good but I will stress they have a lot on with refurbishment THAT DID NOT IMPACT ON OUR STAY all in all I will be staying again very much enjoyed our stay

    « Sleep quality »

Location is good, near many great restaurants and the town centre. Room was medium sized, bed was large and a bit hard. Bathroom was newly refurbished. The lift was out of order and I had to climb 4 stories although they did offer to help with luggage. Front of house lounge is a bit nursing home in style, restaurant is more seaside cafeteria. Didn't use the pool but it looked alright. Issues, very noisy outside with drunks shouting at regular intervals until 3am, then at 6.20am they have a lorry delivery that revs his engine to push his hydraulics. Sleep quality was bad, triple glazing would fix this. Also the room was mega hot despite turning off the rad. Breakfast was a warm buffet of very average quality. The orange juice was harsh and looked radioactive. Room 5/10 Sleep 2/10 Food 6/10 Price 7/10 Location 8/10

« Stayed for a week and would stay again! »

The 'palace' as it is locally known is a strange mix of quality but in a charming way! The photo's are certainly favorable as the hotel itself is a little tired and it is fortuitous that it is currently going through a refurbishment. My room itself was not as modern or fancy as some other chain hotels but was actually really nice. It was clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The room was actually really big too. Breakfast had a great selection of food and the staff were really helpful. The car park is too small for the size of the hotel but they offer a fantastic valet service. A lovely stay and I will be back!

« Great hotel and location »

Stayed for a weekend explore of Inverness. Hotel very nice and tidy, good ample sized rooms and good facilities. Sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, swimming pool and gym all good. Fantastic breakfast choice and quality. Well recommended hotel.

    « Stayed again »

I have previously stayed at this hotel and it wasn't the best, I was invited again to stay and my experience was 100% better the room was very station we had a river side room. The cleanliness of the room was the only thing that bothered me as we found sweets lying about other floor. But other than that it was very good. On the bright side I have to say that the breakfast at this hotel has been the best iv had not only better than any hotel that iv stayed at but better than most pubs/ restraints that iv been at. I was definitely recommend paying extra just to have the breakfast.

« One of the best hotels i have stayed in »

10th January 2016 I do apologise for the wait for the review and delay in putting my review on trip advisor. However, where do i start. I stayed here in October 2015 with Hemmings Coaches Yes i know its been 3 months but what a lovely hotel to stay and everything was so positive and a great hotel to stay and one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The service was brilliant and the service was next to none and nothing was to much trouble. All the staff was great i know my mothers review has mentioned Iona but she was so lovely and such a bubbly person and always come over and had a joke. She even had a lovely sense of humour for example, someone on our coach party had a tickle and she gave a big mug of lemon and honey and even joked she would rub his we chest! Please send Iona a well done. The food, the breakfast and evening meals were lovely. The room was cleaned on arrival the room was spotless and the bathroom positively gleamed. I love Inverness and its great the hotel is right in the centre and well positioned on the river and even though in the city centre it is peaceful. I am sure we will stay here again.

    « Superb »

Stayed here for New Year with a Coach Party I was here for Christmas and New Year last year and eagerly looked forward to coming again. I was not disappointed. We were made very welcome. The food was excellent, good choice at all meals and plenty of wine included or soft drinks in lieu. Very pleasant service throughout the hotel. New Year's Eve was lovely. A lady piper, ladies dancing and general Scottish dancing to a three lady band. Wine and Whisky was brought for ringing in the New Year. A great atmosphere complete with lovely decorations, crackers and poppers. There was entertainment on all nights by Scottish musicians. Roll on next year!

Never lets us down. Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfasts , good rustic brown bread with breakfast too. Comfy beds & great Spa. One downside is pool , jacuzzi & gym to be emptied by 9pm . 10pm woukd be better, we are on holiday , want to have dinner then relax without being rushed. Still fab hotel however . Location great

    « a very happy new year »

Myself, husband, sister snd brother in law all stayed for the 3 night new year break, all inclusive, excellent stay from the word go. Two river view rooms, one larger than the other, but both very clean, great bed and pillows. EEntertainment on all three nights was very good, only moan was too many people for the size of tne dance floor for the new year dancing which put us off even trying, but good fun watching everone else. Food was first class with very generous portions. All staff vety friendly nothing was a problem for them. We would highly recomend this hotel and may return ourselves one day

    « A christmas to remember »

I was on an organised Christmas break for 4 nights. The room at the back was large comfortable and very clean. There is a hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo and tea/coffee facilities in the room, these, along with the towels were replenished daily. There is no safe. The staff in all areas of the hotel were exceedingly helpful not only noticing but also acting on the needs of the guests such as providing more chairs when needed in the bars area. The buffet breakfast was generous and well cooked. Packed lunches were provide during days out and the 3 course evening meal was excellent. Being Christmas tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies where available free every afternoon. On arrival the lift could not be called the the ground floor but it was fixed within 24 hours. The only other problem was a cold radiator in the bathroom but this was fixed with 20 minutes of reporting the problem. There was a large indoor pool and what looked like a very well equipped gym that our party could use free, although I did not participate.

    « Inverness - Christmas 2015 »

A very pleasant hotel, in easy walking distance of the town, on the banks of the river. Pleasant family room (2 double beds). Lift was on the tiny side, so I avoided using it. Pleasant leisure facilities with helpful staff. Slightly pricey, but its location and facilities would justify this. Parking wasn't the best, but the staff in the leisure facility were helpful in resolving this.

« Excellent hotel and service »

Stayed here with my sister and her husband. Very friendly from the start, met and greeted at the car park and lovely rooms over the river (they're worth it!). Spacious, warm and a good night's sleep here. Dinner was reasonable, breakfast is good but busy at our stay... the swim pool is very relaxing and we'll managed when we were there. .. I'd come back and it's a good place to stay in Inverness! Front views are very good.

« Looks good on the website 'BUT' »

Booked from a distance for a pre Christmas treat on the strength of previous reviews and a visit to the website. How disappointing! Did not bother with the treatments after seeing the facilities on offer. Hotel foyer rather tired with a few sparse, cheap Christmas decorations. Spa area entered through a small lounge at end of pool. No welcome by spa staff on arrival. Sat at small table in lounge with ceiling dispensing the odd drop of water onto the table. Not sure if ceiling leaking or condensation. Only coffee available in main hotel foyer at Costa kiosk. Offered in disposable cups, and when politely asked for in a china cup waitress sighed and said she was busy and could not bring to the spa (around 100 yards) although eventually did bring, in half pint mugs and wearing a grubby black uniform. Nice coffee but half pints too much. No fresh baking , all on offer in cellophane packets. Nail bar (table) in lounge by pool which smelled very strongly of chlorine. Noisy (normal) children in swimming pool so not a tranquil atmosphere. Spa room down a damp tiled corridor leading to the pool. Spa room 'tatty' and a cardboard box lying outside the door. NOT what was expected and especially not at the prices being charged. Would not recommend this spa to anyone even if free.

    « Weekend break »

Spent many breaks in Inverness and used many Hotels/Boarding houses and not really had a poor one but the Palace Hotel is ahead of them all. Very friendly and considerate staff. Excellent Riverview room. First class food.Only thing we could say was its to hot in the hotel. We will definitely be back here.

« Pleasant, comfortable, convenient hotel in downtown Inverness. »

We joined a Great Railway Journeys steam train tour which stayed for four nights at this hotel. It is very conveniently located within walking distance of the heart of downtown Inverness. It is on the Inn River directly across from the castle. The hotel was very nicely furnished and modern with an indoor pool, bar, restaurant and services normally expected. It was clean and well managed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it. Parking was an issue. We just stayed parked in the tiny hotel lot and walked or bussed wherever we went.

    « A Fantastic Stay »

What a fantastic stay we had. We stayed here in October for 5 nights as part of a coach holiday. The hotel is well situated for the city centre and for walks along the River Ness with all the rooms at the front overlooking the river. The booking in process was smooth and the receptionist was politeand efficient and service was with a smile. First impressions were of an extremely clean well run establishment and this was proved right throughout our stay. The entrance was spotless and welcoming. We had a twin room which was both spacious and well furnished (not corporate), again the room and en suite were spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable with a firm good quality mattress, the bed-linen too was of a good quality. The breakfast was buffet style and there was so much choice, all of a good quality. It was also really good to have good quality bread rather than the usual supermarket style sliced bread! Service in the restaurant was excellent and there was always friendly chat and advice on things that you may enjoy in the city. The evening meal was always well presented and there was always a good choice, again service was always efficient and friendly. I must complement a young lady at this establishment, Ioana. When in the restaurant her inter-personnel skills were excellent and everyone in our party commented on this. We encountered her in other areas of the hotel and again her interaction was always spot on. I am sure she will go far! Thank you all for a lovely stay and I'm sure we will return!

« Conker weekend short break, DB&B (dinner 1 night only) incl full leisure facilities »

Arrived on a Friday evening in December, hotel was busy with party night in the main restaurant but we were warned we would be eating in the Brasserie. Limited menu, no beef for example but adequate as starter & sweet portions very generous. We did think our room on the 4th floor was cool as the radiators seemed not to be working but a call at reception promptly dispatched an electric heater for our room. The heating must have been fixed during the night as we woke up during the night very warm and had to switch off the electric heater and never needed it again, radiators working fine. Buffet style breakfast with plentiful choice of both hot and cold foods always well presented, cooked and hot.Excellent spa treatments were enjoyed by my wife & I and the girls did a great job. Meal on the Saturday night was again in the brasserie and we chose from its menu this time with a better and wider choice, a steak main course for example with a pint or a glass of wine was only £19.95. There is an excellent Starbucks franchise in the main bar area with nice leather couches to relax on.

Just returned from a weekend break at this terrific hotel to celebrate my birthday. The location is perfect, the facilities excellent, bedrooms spacious and comfortable but what makes it special are the staff who were brilliant, especially Jan. We will definately go back soon.

« Lovely hotel, but needs a bit of attention! »

We booked a room with a view of the river. The room was very nice, a good sized room no. 21 and the view was pretty. Nice big bathroom and everything was spotless clean and the furnishings were classy, despite single glasing on all the windows. Shower above bath was fine but the drainage seemed to be choked and water was not very warm. Reported this to reception twice during our two night stay and it was not fixed and the next people who got the room obviously got the same choked plumbing and lukewarm shower, despite the fact they said they had just replaced the boilers. Food was ok and breakfast was a self service buffet with a huge selection of hot and cold food. We had dinner twice and they messed up my husbands steak both times, overcooked cheap meat. My food was fine steak pie, cant go wrong. Overall I would book again for the location but I would eat out.

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel, can't fault it at all! Check in was quick and easy, reception staff always very helpful. Our room was great, very spacious and welcoming. We loved the spa area the facilities were fab! The restaurant offer a good menu choice as well we actually ate both nights durning our stay and have no complaints about it at all, breakfast is also great value for money and I recommend you try it. Just wish we had been staying for longer, can't wait to return!

« Amazing Weekend at The Palace »

We stayed here for two nights to attend a Masquerade Ball. After 8 hours travelling we were thrilled to arrive and go up to our room which was brilliant - large room (9) overlooking the river and the castle - really pretty when lit up at night. All the staff where really friendly and helpful - and a special mention to the Spa staff who helped me with easy access to the pool. Not quite like the photographs but it was a nice pool, jacuzzi and the gym looked well equipped. The staff did everything possible to help with organising the Ball which was a huge success, the food was fab and the buffet breakfast in the morning was really good with haggis to die for! We easily walked over the bridge into Town, very handy location. We were lucky to get a space in the car park and we didn't have to move it all weekend. Thank you to all the staff and special thanks to the lady who went in our room and made the bed - we didn't expect that otherwise we would have tidied up - but we had such a late and great night in the lounge and we slept so well in the amazing comfy huge bed that we almost missed breakfast - and we didn't want to do that!

    « Great location , lovelyhotel »

Hotel is clean, staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here for my husbands 60th Birthday and found the location absolutely perfect. A short walk along the banks of the river ness takes you into the heart of the city where you can find plenty of good places to wine and dine. The staff in the hotel go the extra mile to ensure the comfort of all guests and made our stay memorable. A young waitress named Kirsty ensured we were well looked after and made us feel very special at breakfast. If you are planning to stay in Inverness you will not be disappointed with the Palace hotel.

« Very nice place in the heart of the city »

We stayed one night spontaneously during a tour through Scotland. The hotel is very nicely located in the heart of the city next to the river Ness on which you have a beautiful view from some rooms. It's just a short walk to the restaurants and pubs in inverness and there are is a lot of parking space next to the hotel. My room was big and very comfortable. Tough the style was classical everything was in good shape and the bathroom quite modern. Public areas as well as the rooms are very clean. We used the spa area with a large pool and a small hottub. Both looked pretty good and it was an enjoyable rest there. The breakfast was also very nice!

    « Lovely hotel »

Hotel is clean, staff friendly, excellent location for theatre and shops. Breakfast was delicious. A few problems with service at breakfast (not the staff, more the set up) have communicated to the hotel and they're looking into it. Would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

    « Fabulous location, great room,good gym »

Stayed here for three nights, our room was very pleasant, the hotel is well furnished, the bar and lounge areas really good. Did not eat here. Car parking is limited however they offer free valet parking if no spaces are available on site and return your car promptly when needed, an excellent service. Staff were really nice, the outstanding thing is the location, centrally based for all amenities right on the river front with wonderful views, would recommend as a base for sightseeing.

    5
    « Afternoon Teas »

I had afternoon tea here with 3 friends. It was lovely. There was so much food that we couldn't eat it all and the staff kindly offered to give it to take away. The food was lovely and fresh, it worked out that we had 1 and a half sandwiches each, one scone with cream and jam each and about 6 sweet treats each! For £7.95 per person it is certainly good value for money. We had seats overlooking the river. It really was very enjoyable and I look forward to doing this again. Can recommend this enough.

    « Pre-concert dining »

Having stayed several times at the Palace Hotel in Inverness we had a planned evening concert to go to in Eden Court just a short walk from the Palace. We are fully aware there are many really nice dining places in the City but as we had not been for an overnight stay since June we knew to go to the Palace for a pre-concert meal. As expected from previous dining visits & stay the fantastic staff were very keen to make sure we were seated promptly & given the menu. The meals have never left us disappointed nor hungry and this meal was as expected - excellent. The order was taken, drinks delivered to the table and within a very short period, meal delivered sizzling hot and as requested for a lovely Aberdeen Angus & fish & chips for my wife. Cooked to perfection, delivered promptly and not too expensive for hotel prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and sauntered along to see the concert after being asked if everything was to our satisfaction during and as we were paying the bill. We can only look forward to our next overnight stay in the Palace as soon as possible as we find every member of staff from Reception, Dining, Bar and House Keeping are keen to ensure every moment of your stay is as relaxing & stress free as possible. We have our favourite room but not telling you as we want it when we book again. Kenny & Vanessa Gunn, Portgordon. P.S. Merry Christmas to all at the PALACE.

    « What a lovely surprise!!! »

Having had a disappointing stay a couple of years ago, I had given the Palace a miss! But wow, I'm so chuffed that I gave you another chance. Lovely refurbished rooms with modern, stylish, spotlessly clean bathrooms, soft fluffy towels, very friendly staff at every level, revamped dining room with great breakfast choice and plenty of helpful staff on hand, a great leisure pool, and a convenient central location, means that I won't be leaving it so long before I come back! Loved our stay Palace staff. You excelled.

Just back from a lovely weekend at this hotel. Staff were really friendly, our room wasn't ready for us when we arrived, but we were able to leave our cases at reception while we went for our treatment at the Spa which we had pre booked. Must say the back massage was great, unfortunately we did not leave ourselves enough time to enjoy the swimming pool, which I must say is a great size for a swim, next year maybe, as I know that we will be back. Our room was ready after our massage and our cases had already been taken to our room. Rooms were lovely as was the bathroom and shower, obviously been refurbished. Breakfast was great too continental or cooked breakfast. Staff again very friendly. The hotel is well positioned close to the train station, and all the shops, some lovely restaurants near bye too if you do not wish to eat in the hotel. Inverness is a very friendly place, I will certainly return and to this hotel. Highly recommend it.

We loved our stay here. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We thought it was great value for money. Rooms very clean, large and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner was also good value. One of our rooms was flooded from the room above. Staff very efficient and moved everything to another room.

Enjoyed the room with huge windows looking out onto the River Ness. The room was quite large and well appointed. Staff could not have been friendlier. « Fabulous »

A really lovely hotel in an amazing location. Our room looked over the river and castle which was fabulous. The room was very comfortable although a bit on the small size. That said we didn't spend that much time in it as we were out exploring. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was very good. Although do check your bill when checking out as we were accidentally charged for another couple's steak dinners. The hotel were great and removed it from our bill straight away though. We didn't use the pool although it looked fab. I'll be happy to stay here again when I'm back up in Inverness!

« Friendly and oh so comfortable hotel »

The staff was very friendly and could not do enough for you. The rooms are brilliant and we even had room overlooking the river. The only thing that let it down for us was the meal in the evening. We picked the 10 ounce steak and it was so tough and full of gristle. The staff were very apologetic though. Breakfast was great .

« Great Location, Fantastic Break »

We had a fantastic room overlooking the River Ness with Inverness Castle correctly opposite. The room was perfect, clean and very well laid out with a super king size bed, the onsuite had the best shower I have ever had the privilege of using. We had an evening meal in the Hotel restaurant and breakfast on both mornings of our stay and I have to say all meals were faultless, the menu for the evening meal had a great selection which would cater to most tastes an the buffet breakfast was just amazing all fresh and excellently cooked. The staff in the Hotel were all very friendly and helpful and we used the swimming pool, spa and gym facilities and the staff there were also great and very safety conscious. We had ice sent to our room as we had planned to have a small beverage before our planned evening out, nothing was a problem for any of the staff 10 out of 10 will definitely stay here again.

    « Lovely relaxing 2 nights »

We booked this last minute got the Autumn break deal, 3 course dinner with the first night and 2 mini bottles of red wine. When we arrived the reception staff were really friendly and welcoming, we gave our car keys to the valet parking at the leisure club and they parked it safely near the cathedral and had it waiting outside the hotel when we were checking out which was a nice touch. The breakfast was brilliant and the dinner wasn't bad for coming with the room. The hotel is right on the river and really handy for the town centre and nearby bars with loads of atmosphere and live music. Our favourite bit by far was the lovely pool, steam room, sauna and indoor hot tub, blew away the cobwebs on the first night and felt so relaxed instantly. We met lots of people who had come back again and we will definitely be back! The room was really comfortable and had everything we needed, nice functional bathroom too. On Saturday night we came back fairly late and despite having lots of people (including a couple of hen parties) asking for drinks, Graeme the night porter was very friendly and efficient. My only slight niggle was the guy seating us at Sunday morning breakfast, he was so busy flirting with the girls in front of us that our tea, coffee and toast was forgotten about until I asked for it again. Other than this all the staff were amazing and very helpful! Thanks again to the girl working at the pool on Saturday who found something I had left in the changing room. Really this was an amazing hotel and we will definitely be coming back soon!! Highly recommended!!

    « Comfortable and convenient »

Stayed 2 nights with a party of friends. Rooms clean, comfortable and spacious. Cocktails and dinner on the first night enjoyable, dinner menu a bit restricted but I enjoyed the meal. The staff were welcoming and efficient. Enjoyed relaxing in the pool both afternoons, the only slight niggle is that the pool area was poorly lit which didn't improve the atmosphere. Very good location on the riverside and close to the town centre, so not far to walk to reach shops, restaurants and pubs. Altogether a nice place to stay for a relaxing break whether chilling out or shopping till you drop.

    « Perfect riverside location »

I've just come back from a last-minute three-night break at the Inverness Palace Hotel, and I must quibble with some of the complaints of some reviewers. I found the staff very friendly, from the reception staff to the dining room to the Leisure Club. On my last morning I was keen to have a window table and Ronnie, a very welcoming and friendly guy, in the dining room organised its clearance within minutes. The breakfast food was very good and there was an excellent selection. The room was good and the river and castle view was fantastic. Also, you are only minutes walk from Inverness town centre, with a pletora of bars, shops and eateries. Over the years I have stayed in a number of hotels in the town: now I would always come back here.

    « Excellent. »

Beautiful room with stunning views. Everything about this trip was perfect. I needed to visit my son in his new flat, went to buy him new furniture so couldn't stay with him. Booked The Best Western, it was lovely. Friendly check in, room was gorgeous with a huge bed. Perfect. Breakfast was amazing, a tad busy but the dining room is large with an extra room for overflow. There is parking at the side of the hotel, if the car park is full just pop your keys in to the leisure centre and they will valet park for you. I cannot fault anything about this hotel, all of the staff are incredibly friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Can't wait for my next visit!

    « Great staff »

Lots of help with printing something I needed badly - and they didn't charge me a penny! Room was spacious, quite, comfortable and lovely view. Didn't try any of the food, mind... But my experience was excellent.

    « Fantastic honeymoon »

Although prices can rise at peak times my new wife and I found this beautiful hotel on the banks of the river very good value for our honeymoon. The rooms were quaint and individual and the facility's offered were fantastic value. No need to say we took advantage of the pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna which was the perfect way to start a busy day shopping and cocktails seeing as it was our honeymoon haha. The full breakfast offered was stunning and very tasty with attentive smiling staff to get our day started. The large comfortable lounge area is perfect for that chill out time with a large coffee. Would definitely go back and maybe the place to be for our first anniversary

    « Okay for oldies »

Pleasant staff, okay room ,breakfast fine, but it was a busy hotel with what looked like a SAGA tour. Miserable faces surrounded us in the lounge bar late evening accompanied by a wailing electric organ playing "loony tunes" and even finished the evening with " that's all folks"

« Views, tick, great beds, tick, nice amenities, tick, food - total fail. »

We had an amazing view of the river Ness and the castle - it was enchanting. The room was large and well furnished, the bed very comfy and the bathroom very nice. Everything worked, including the wifi. I will say we paid a premium for this particular room- three times the current price we see advertised on TripAdvisor. But we wanted the view. We went out for dinner largely because we noticed the hotel dining room, on a busy Saturday in Inverness, that there were few diners. The next morning we found out why. Despite there being servers running around all over the place, the service of tea and toast (the only things actually brought to the table) were delivered very slowly (after the rest of breakfast was eaten) with the order incorrect. The buffet was average at best and most of it was questionable. A hair in the ham, rubber poached eggs (even though they'd just been put out) over cooked hash browns and fatty bacon. Very unappetising. The bread rolls were nice... Also be aware that valet parking means parking your own car at the rear, lugging your bags to the front door, upstairs and through an awkward revolving door, checking in and then going to find the valet to give him your keys. I wouldn't have minded if this was a budget hotel but it isn't. PS don't eat the shortbread they provide in the room, it's awful.

« Great location nice rooms fantastic service »

We picked this hotel after looking at Tripadvisor and were very happy we did. First impression was the perfect location right on the river and very close to the interesting parts of the city, including an unobstructed view of the castle. Next impression was the really good service. The front desk handled everything perfectly, including managing our bags, giving us a late checkout, storing our bags for hours after we checked out and recommending ways to do things. Next impression was the very nice and comfortable room. Although we did not have a view of the river and castle, our room looked over the courtyard and was quite nice. We were too busy to swim, but the pool and spa facilities were really nice. The bed was great. The breakfast was wonderful. Another plus was the finest restaurant is only 3 doors down on the corner, so even in the rain, the walk was not an issue.

« Excellent base for holiday »

Well-equipped hotel, non-special rooms a little away from reception (but were closer to pool & gym). Very quiet with not much disturbance from other guests - which included a coach party for most nights. Breakfast well cooked and excellent choices - enough to fill us up for most of the day! Would certainly stay here again.

    « Can't fault this place »

I stayed here in a single room with a view of the river and castle. Stunning at night. Staff were so friendly and helpful, the pool is a great facility and was warm even first thing in the morning. We booked in for some massages in the spa downstairs which was just heavenly. Breakfast is expensive but for the quality I would say that it is worth it. 5 minutes walk from all the main shops and restaurants. Love this place

« Palace Hotel Inverness. A splendid stay: a splendid location. »

I was wandering around Inverness on Google streetmap. As you do. Late October and I'm planning a four day break in the Highlands and Islands, I start with some local research. I spotted the Palace hotel on streetmap and thought: 'that looks very elegant'. I called direct to get rates. The receptionist informed me of a special Autumn package, which I considered very reasonable. Four nights with breakfast and full use of the spa. All for the price of three nights. I took it of course. The location of the hotel is overlooking the river Ness in a majestic Victorian building. A short walk over the bridge and you're in the middle of town. A short drive and you're in the countryside! Loch Ness on the doorstep; Skye just 90 minutes away. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. When we first arrived we were not impressed by our allocated room. They did everything possible to move us. The following day we were given a room overlooking the river and castle; as in the photos. Breakfast is good quality; I enjoyed the haggis as well as the Scotch porridge oats with whiskey sauce and cream! Free wifi throughout, but no air conditioning, so be aware in summer months. All in all a superb stay. Recommended.

« Excellent Hotel, Comfy Rooms, Great Food »

Me, my wife and daughter stayed overnight in the hotel as part of our Highlands driving tour. To begin with, it is probably the best location in the city, right on the edge of the River Ness. Very helpful and pleasant staff and the food was first class and plenty of it. The rooms were furnished with real wood, and I mean real wood, beds comfy, with two small bottles of free wine, which I thought a good touch. Bathrooms had everything we needed, there was a telephone, free wi-fi Internet access. What I liked about the latter was that you logged on directly - none of this pussyfooting about with 'cookies' and all that bumpf!! Overall a great hotel and we would definitely go back!

    « Nice hotel.... »

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and paid extra for river view, it was a lovely hotel, handy for the town, but what terribly poor food can't believe such a nice hotel had such poor food, they need a new chef and a scottish one at that!

« Great hotel, excellent location »

A busy hotel situated by the river, only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Room was clean, spacious, nicely decorated and our bathroom looked like it had been very newly decorated as it was spotless. Great pool and sauna and steam room facilities. Starbucks coffee in reception. We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment. Staff were helpful and recommended restaurants and bars. Excellent value for money, a nice hotel to hang out in and would happily recommend and stay here again.

« Good base for travelling »

My wife and I stayed four nights at this hotel as part of an organised rail tour of the Scottish Highlands. We had a double en-suite room with a bed big enough to sleep sideways! The room was comfortable and clean with all the facilities one would expect from Best Western. Evening meal menus gave a lot of choice and the food was well prepared and presented. Breakfast is a "help yourself affair" but with plenty of choice. There is also a bar where one can purchase lunch, snacks and afternoon tea There is a health club with a large swimming pool which was almost empty in the morning and evenings. The hotel is situated on the banks of the River Ness a couple of minutes walk from the town centre, the bus and rail stations. Despite this close proximity the area surrounding the hotel is very quiet with little road noise. If arriving by air get the number 11 bus to Inverness form right outside the arrivals terminal as it costs only £4 and runs every half hour. A taxi for the same journey could cost you as much as £25 to £30 dependent upon the time of day.

« Very central location, great food and friendly staff »

This was our first time in Inverness. We chose this hotel and it was well worth it. The Hotel deserves to be called a Palace. The room we booked for 2 adults and 3 children was very spacious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would like to make a special mention of the night staff member Darren who was very helpful. He helped me out with places for the family to visit. The service was awesome and always friendly, which is very important for any customer. However, if I had to bring up some constructive criticism, I would say the restaurant menu could do with a few more choices. The menu changes each day which is great But on the flip side I hope that in our next visit we will be able to choose from more than just 1 fish, 1 cold main, 1 veg and 1 other random dish. On the first night there wasn't anything I fancied. There is a separate bar menu but I was really keen on trying the restaurant the first night. The 2nd day the menu was super and the food was fantastic. On other points, they have a great swimming pool. They have a spa too but we didn't have time to check it out on this visit. The location is very central and overall we would love to return again.

« based at hotel during coach tour of northern scotland »

We stayed here for five nights on a coach holiday to northern scotland. The whole building was extremely well cleaned and the staff were all friendly and provided superb service. We had breakfast and evening meal each day which was all of high quality and served in a lovely dining room. Overall, we were very impressed with every aspect of our stay, and would highly recommend this hotel.

enjoyed my stay here, staff were friendly, rooms were spacious and facilities were great, brilliant location and takes only minutes to reach the town centre. would visit again. Car park can get busy but there is valet parking.

    « Good choice »

Substantial hotel in a good location by the river and a short walk across the bridge to restaurants and shops. Small car park but efficient valet parking if full. Spacious, well furnished, standard twin room 26 overlooking river. Tiny shower room but well equipped and perfectly adequate. Good selection at breakfast and friendly staff. Our only niggle was the parsimonious attitude to heating, even in the evening. Our room was big, with a large bay window and it was cold. After a couple of calls to reception the radiators came on for a while... and then went off again, necessitating another call to reception. However all in all a good choice for a night's stay.

« Right on the River Ness »

We stayed here for one night on our trip around Scotland and we had a perfectly pleasant stay. The room was very clean and the location was lovely. The one complaint we had was the CRAZY parking situation, which is understandable in a city. They do move cars around at night because there are not enough spaces in their lot. They never moved ours, so I have no praise or complaint regarding that.

    « Interesting, historic building »

This hotel is in a beautiful old building. The furnishings were appropriate for this type building. Our room was a nice size, beds were comfortable, and the bath had a good shower and amenities. Because it had probably been retrofitted, the marble sink was small with not much area to set things on it, but that was not a big deal. Plenty of large towels. Good location and in easy walking distance to all of the downtown area. The breakfast that came with our room was very good and in a large, pleasant room. Free wifi worked fine. Unfortunately the car park was very small. We had to turn over our key to a valet who moved the car to some other location and scheduled for it to be picked up in the morning. We did not use the spa, but saw a large, indoor pool.

« Good hotel right by the river »

Beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms. Plenty of hanging space and drawers.Quiet spacious rooms with free Wifi throughout the property. I did not like the bar which doubles as a coffee bar( say no more!!!) which managed to run out of 2 beer lines on a Saturday night( how is that possible??) The food was very good and plentiful and service was good. Great position by the river and about 10 minutes walk to the railway station. I would stay again but would find a bar for a descent drink!!!

« Nice Setting and hospitality »

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip recently and would recommend the hotel as a sound place to stay. The position id nice with Inverness Castle just over the river and the river running past the front of the hotel. It is also a short walk to bars and restaurants. The rooms are nice and well kitted out with small but well decorated and modern en-suite bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable and pillows firm but soft; so a good night's sleep. TV, coffee making facilities, Iron and ironing board are provided. The negative issues are: a. there is very limited parking and I was unable to park on either night in the hotel grounds. However the Cathedral car park is a short walk but is pay and display between 8am and 6pm. b. The room was quite small, so it may feel a little cramped with two people? c. The bottom of the Iron was burnt black - so a check of these during room cleaning would be advisable. Mainly positive: However despite these minor points the hotel was nice, service was good and breakfast, a self service buffet was very good and the staff on duty attentive and courteous.

« Lovely hotel staffed by friendly helpful people »

We also stayed in the Castle Room which is newly decorated and has a view of the castle. All the staff were helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. It was also nice to be able to use the pool after a long drive.

    « Room with a view »

When we arrived after a long train journey we found that we had been booked in for the wrong dates! However, thanks to a lovely member of the reception staff we were shown to a newly converted room right opposite the castle. The lady had a Celtic name. The room was amazing, very large too. The leisure centre was lovely, with a large pool. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. We ate out in the evenings but had breakfast there and drinks in the bar. There was a cosy atmosphere in all areas of the hotel. No complaints at all, but if there was more fresh fruit at breakfast it would have been perfect.

Our room was spacious and clean. Parking was easy to access and hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with directions to local attractions. We would recommend to stay here and we'd come back to stay one day when we return. Breakfast was extra but worth the fee. Great to have free wifi!
