« OK stay, wouldn't be my first choice »

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. We decided to go to Banff at the last minute and it was either BW or the Fairmont. The room was comfy the only odd thing is the beds are quite high so short people might have a hard time getting into them, and the shower head is super low. I'm 5'9" and had to squat to wash my hair. Not sure what my 6'5" tall son would have done if he came along. The breakfast was good, the room is just so tiny. Ditto for the pool and the underground parking space. It's a little out of the main core of downtown so if you have really small kids that might be an issue. There were good restaurants nearby and there is a gas station with a convenience store across the street. This wouldn't be my first choice in Banff but it did the trick.

    « Ok so it's not a new hotel »

Nope it's not a new hotel and it's not just been redone to make it look new. What is it. COMFY, CLOSE, Quiet and GREAT STAFF. This hotel is so close to downtown that you are a very few walking distance from anything yet it is quiet. What more do you need??????

« Not our fave Banff stay »

This is the first time we have stayed here while in Banff. We chose this location because it is a short walk to downtown, has a free breakfast and a pool. Well the pool is very very small so our daughter was bored pretty quickly, but the breakfast was ok and the walk was what we expected. The staff at the front desk were all extremely helpful and kind! Some oddities: Housekeeping walked right in on us without knocking, around 9 am!! After that I looked for a do not disturb sign but we didn't have one! On our second day, housekeeping took our used soap and replaced it with new - as people who are concerned about waste, this concerns me greatly! The hardly used soap should have been left! The room is not in the greatest condition - a few small holes on walls from doors; screen onto patio was off and just laying on patio; fan cover in bathroom hanging down... Room was very warm - had to use a/c in November (but a warm weekend so maybe that is why?) Room was quiet - no outside or hall noise even though hotel seemed full. Free wifi worked well View on the even rooms is of an apt building that you can actually see in people's apts (and I assume vice versa) so view in other direction must be better and I'd ask for an odd #ered room if you hope to see mountains or trees.

    « Best in Banff »

Had a great time at the Best Western in Banff. Close to downtown. Breakfast was amazing and a great way to start the day. The hotel has a small pool and hot tub to soak the tired body after a long day exploring. This hotel is clean and comfortable.

    4
    « Nice get away »

We just wanted to get away for a couple of days, our stay was great, room was large and clean. The only complaint we had was that the lighting in the room was not great. Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt we got a very good value for our money.

« Great Place to Stay in Banff »

Great place to stay in Banff in October. Hotel room was comfortable and roomy, looked out over the street with sliding glass doors opening onto a small balcony. Underground parking. Although the breakfast room was a little small and crowded, breakfast was definitely above Best Western average. Indoor pool and hot tub were great - both kids and adults will enjoy. Easy 5 block walk to downtown section of Banff. Recommend you consider when staying in Banff.

« Excellent value for money. »

Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, good full freshly cooked breakfast and within walking distance to Banff town centre. Secure underground heated parking. An excellent value for money.

    « Staying in Banff »

I love staying at this hotel in Banff. The rooms are nice and the breakfast is awesome, Close to downtown. Thanks for everything. I have stayed here three times now and I will be back with my family and friends .

« Comfortable and affordable hotel »

Nice comfortable hotel only a short walk from Banff centre. Very clean with pleasant and courteous staff. Small swimming pool with hot tub. Very good and varied breakfast with kitchen staff constantly cleaning tables.

    « Nothing fancy! »

What we expected for a Best Western. We used air miles, would not pay to stay with so many other options in the same price range. We have used air miles at the Delta- fabulous experience there! Room- clean and quiet for the most part considering we were right off the pool. Fridge made a continuous beeping noise on our second night. Housekeeping staff were far to eager to get in and clean. Saturday morning they were knocking at 8:15 am and Sunday at 9 am even with the do not disturb sign displayed. Check-out is 11 am, we felt rushed to get out. This completely turned me off BW. Breakfast had plenty of selection, just cold. The room is far to small to accommodate all guests. We had to wait for a table. Nice and close to walk to town.

    « Location »

Stayed one night but would surely go back!!! Great service and location and also includes a great breakfast. Priced very reasonable... Right in the downtown area. Walk anywhere. A lot of great shopping and restaurants in the area.

    « I will diffidently stay here again ?? »

My husband and I decided to take a mini holiday and stay one night in Banff. I booked this hotel online and requested a king suite with a Jacuzzi. We checked in and was greeted with prompt friendly service. This hotel does have underground parking, larger vehicles may have some difficulty. We were on the third floor. They do have elevators but we chose to take the stairs. I was pleasantly surprisewhen we entered the room. We did have a king size bed and we did have a Jacuzzi, and the Jacuzzi worked , the room was lovely. We were also told that breakfast was included in our stay. When we did go down for breakfast I was expecting a continental breakfast I was wrong. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, sausages, fruit, fresh coffee, yogurt, toast, and juice. Again I was pleasantly surprised it definitely made my morning. Check out was quick and easy and we were on our way .

    « Pleasant Stay »

Overall, this was a nice place to stay. Walking distance with just about everything. Right next to the gas station. Just a short walk to El Toro. I would recommend eating there for breakfast if you get tired of the hotel breakfast. The room had a nice patio with a view! The beds did hurt mine and my sister's back, but of course that varies with everyone. Room has a nice soaker tub, fridge, microwave and blow dryer. I would definitely stay here again.

    2
    « Overpriced and disappointing »

I spent four nights here during my trip through Alberta and BC and this hotel was among the most disappointing. At almost $300 per night, I had expected a much better experience. The room was okay but not very modern. At night I woke quite a few times to the trains blowing their horns. The mattress was hard and not very comfortable. Breakfast was nothing to write home about and the breakfast room was small and cramped. My room had a "wonderful" view of the parking garage (parking was free though). Staff seemed quite unmotivated and I didn't receive any upgrade, welcome gift or anything else that elite members usually get.

    4
    « Older But OK »

We had the room that had the adjoining room with it. The adjoining room was behind the elevator, so it wasn't an additional separate room. We really only heard the elevator on our last night, so that wasn't so great. The pool was very small, but it was deep and not a lot of people, so it was fine for us. The breakfasts were good, but get there when it opens to get a seat. Underground parking was good, but the spots were small and sometimes hard to get in and out of. Conveniently located.

    4
    « Convenient Hotel »

Typical north american hotel. Very good facilities and within walking distance to downtown Banff. The indoor pool was actually a very small one, good for relaxing though. The breakfast included all the basic stuff.

    3
« Parking garage is so small »

We were a about 20 people group with two big vans and the underground parking space was so tiny that I cannot park my van in. I saw others just parked on street side. Anything else was ok. Breakfast was ok, too.

    4
« Good option with breakfast »

Comfortable motel a little further out from town which makes it quiet but no more than 10-15 minute walk. Reasonable breakfast included but breakfast room gets full early. Eateries and take away options close by.

    4
« Good place to stay in this resort town »

Banff naturally being a resort town has several hotels which you will pay a bit for. I knew and and expected this. We ended up choosing BW because it is typically a good brand and the cost was reasonable compared to some others. This is a good location to stay, but there are some negatives and also positives. First, be aware that they have limited underground parking. It can fill up and the spaces are tight. It was not a problem for us, just be careful and take your time going in and out. Second, it is about 5-6 blocks from the primary shopping/dining area. In order to keep our parking spot, we would usually walk down at night for some shopping and dining. I have bad feet and if I had to do it again I might stay somewhere closer because of this. That's just me. The room over all was good. We didn't have much of a view, but that was ok. I wasn't crazy about the lay out of the room where the TV was but we made it work. Also, a big pet peeve for me. The Kleenex box was about empty so I pulled the cover off the box, and pulled out the last few Kleenex so housekeeping would see it needed replacement. When I came back, they had put the empty box back under the cover, and laid the few remaining Kleenex on top. Don't be so cheap! replace the box!! The best thing about this location was the morning breakfast. They offer the typical cold options, cereal, toast, muffins, etc but also offer a good selection of hot items. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, etc. You definitely will leave full and ready for the day. I would recommend this place, unless you want to be a bit closer to the downtown action, then might stay elsewhere.

    3
    « Wee bit dissapointed »

The hotel was nothing special quite glad we were only there for one night. It was handy for where we wanted to be just a short walk to the centre of town. Breakfast was included but apart from that not much else to write home about.

    « Just OK »

We spent 4 nights at this BW, choosing to home base in Banff while touring the area. Check In: BW's check in time is, in my opinion, ridiculously late at 4 pm. We arrived around 11:30 and were told the room was not ready but that they would "prioritize" our check in. We came back two hours or so later. Same story. We finally got into the room around 2:45. I think the reception desk did try to make the delay up to us by upgrading us to a King room with a jacuzzi. The room itself was nice enough, although a bit shopworn (upholstery and carpeting obviously well worn). There is no desk, which is a problem if you use a laptop as we do. Breakfast: Lots of choices, reasonably well prepared except for the oatmeal which was disastrous, being more like gruel than thick oatmeal. The dining area is way too small when the hotel is full as it was all our stay. One morning people were lined up outside waiting for a table. Services: As has been mentioned in other reviews, there are no laundry facilities. Your choices are to spend a few hours at the coin laundry downtown or send it out for $20 CAD. We chose the latter rather than waste touring time. With a laundry in-house, I'd've done it myself later in an evening. Parking: there's free indoor private parking. Distances: The BW is a longish walk to town and most restaurants and parking in town is a bit of a zoo. Overall, this was not my favorite ever BW.

« High Season Touring - Room Good »

I wasn't sure what Banff is like, as this was our first time here, and this is a world-famous tourist area in the Canadian Rockies. The hotel is just off the main street in Banff, away from the main part of town. The hotel lobby is small and parking is under the hotel. I don't recall if we paid separately for the parking but we were able to find a place in the garage each night. We stayed four nights - first, two nights in a first floor room, then another two nights a few days later. We weren't happy with the first floor location on our first stay, requested an upper level when we returned a few days later. The hotel staff complied and we had an upper floor room when we returned. Breakfast is in a room that, from our experience, can be too crowded. Cost of the meal is included in the room price, as I recall, and I thought the food selection, though comprehensive, somehow seemed incomplete. Getting food was sometimes frustrating with the number of guests this place has. Perhaps a small addition can be made to the back of this room to make it larger more inviting for guests, and to provide more area to present food cooked in the adjoining kitchen.

    « A passing grade.. »

This hotel, situated at the corner of Banff Avenue and Mertens looks more like a motel and indeed you what you expect. The rooms are large, but had they not put in the middle a monstrous tub/Jacuzzi they could be spacious. Instead they look awkward and the sink is located outside the bathroom. On the plus side the rate includes breakfast, albeit served in a crummy congested and airless dining room, and free parking which could be a problem at times if you arrive late. One night we had to park more than half a mile away from the hotel. Hi- Fi is free. Good for families, but definitely have seen better Best Western facilities. As for rates, you could get nicer places on Banff Avenue , e.g. the Moose hotel ( at 345 Bunff Ave) for similar if not lower rate

    5
    « Glacier trip »

Perfect location, within walking distance of town. The underground parking was wonderful for parking, and the breakfast was awesome! Even though we were unable to use the pool and hot tub, they were clean and inviting. Banff is one place where we plan to return and BW is certainly where we'll stay!

    3
« Aging, but still decent. »

Like just about every property inside Banff, this property is showing it's age. But with everything being busy almost all the time, that's going to happen. With that in mind, the rooms are a good size, power is not located in the best spots, the bathrooms have a decent shower head, and there is a breakfast included. It is close to the Shell station if you need something quick, and not that far from groceries either. Parking is included, but it is tight.

    5
« Excellent place in Banff »

Most definitely the place to stay in Banff - decent size rooms. Breakfast is good and basic needs covered. If missing an item - front desk will try to help in any way possible. Upon return stay at the Delta - will not return to the Delta Legion.

    2
« Not the BEST Western we've stayed in »

We have stayed at several Best Western locations in the USA and Canada. I'm assuming because of the "Banff" location, they can charge whatever they like and not deliver on the experience. I would have to say that this is probably one of the most disappointing Best Western Hotels we have stayed in. They call it a "Plus" which usually means it is nicer than the average Best Western...but not in this case. This summer we stayed at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort in Tofino for about the same price and THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL BEST WESTERN worth the money you pay.

    4
    « Good hotel »

We stayed here twice during our trip to Canada and were perfectly happy with both our visits. The rooms are of a reasonable size and comfortable. However, on both occasions we had rooms at the rear where the outlook is rather miserable. The complimentary breakfast is good, although the breakfast room is rather small so, at busy times, it is impossible to get a seat. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We would certainly consider staying here again.

    4
    « Good location »

Like all accommodations in Banff, this hotel is very expensive for what you get. On the plus side the rooms are large and clean. The location is within easy walking distance to downtown shops and many nearby restaurants. A hot breakfast is included, but the food was just average.

    3
« Overpriced, as is all of Banff »

Staff were excellent; professional, polite, helpful, on both checkin and checkout. The hotel itself was grossly overpriced, which is the trend in Banff. There was a slight musty smell to the bathroom (wallpaper?) and the pillows were overstuffed with lumpy material. All-in-all, not an awful hotel room, but not worth the price.

« Great place to stay for exploring Banff and Lake Louise »

My husband and I just returned from a 12 day vacation of Banff, Jasper and Louise. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Siding 29 Lodge for a total of 8 days at the front and back end of our stay. It was a very comfortable and accommodating place for our needs. The hotel was less than 1/2 mile from the center of town and restaurants. You could park your car (in their garage) and walk wherever you need to around Banff. The front office staff was quite helpful when I wanted to book my back end stay (I didn't initially reserve for the last 5 nights) and was even able to get me another room on the third floor (high ceilings in the room). The facility was clean and comfortable, and having the breakfast was a nice touch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay or recommend the hotel to anyone travelling in the area.

    2
    « Below expectations »

We stayed two nights, room 305. The room is spacious and comfortable. But it is right above the swimming pool and all four windows are sealed, no way to let some fresh air in. With A/C off it would turn into a oven (outside temperature those days was around 30°C), with A/C on it would cool down but the air quality in the room was always stale and full of dust. I would suggest the hotel manager to stop renting this room, the stay in it is unpleasant. Cleanlines was not top notch. I left a medium sized towel on the floor so it would be changed, but it was folded and put back on the rack! Breakfast is of mediocre quality. Breakfast room is very small, tables do not get cleaned from one guest to the next! The lady at the reception was always in a hurry. The underground garage was a plus, since outside parking is limited. Would not stay here again.

    2
« Review Of Best Western Plus Siding 29 Lodge »

Very disappointing 2 night stay for the 2 rooms we had at this hotel. We booked 3 months in advance & arrived from Calgary at 4:15pm only to be given 2 rooms on the main floor (201 & 202). One by the reception & breakfast room & the other by the elevator. When asked for other rooms we were told none were available yet people were still checking in hours after. Sleep was not possible as the ceiling had to be taken down in one room at 3pm & in the other room motorcycles had engines going late & early. The staff was not willing to adjust the cost on one room but did some after lengthy negotiations. Staff not very helpful.

    4
    « nice location »

Two night stay in July. The lobby was a little sketchy, but the room was comfortable. Hot breakfast was one of the best "free" breakfasts I've had. Serving staff kept food fresh, and it tasted great on both mornings. Parked in their underground lot. Hotel was a short walk from downtown Banff (which made shopping and eating easy).

    4
    « Very Nice Hotel »

We stayed here one night travelling across country. It is an older hotel, but they have put a lot of money into upgrading the rooms recently. The room was very clean, a and modern. The free breakfast was basic, but filling and included bacon and sausage, good that a lot of hotels skip out on. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. There was also a ski locker in the garage which was neat. My only complaint is that the old elevator in the hotel has a bumper instead of a sensor and it wound up jamming way wife in the elbow while we were trying to get our cart on the elevator. Overall though I was very impressed with this hotel and would reccomend it if staying in Banff.

« BW Siding 29 Lodge Banff Review »

my wife and daughter and I stayed at his hotel on Aug. 29 and 30 of this year. The hotel is good but the underground parking is a little tricky to get in and out of. The room was great with everything we needed. The breakfast was great quality but the breakfast room was very small. It was crowded and we ate our breakfast in our room. The pool and hot tub were fine and all in all our experience was satisfactory.

    4
    « Decent Value?for Banff »

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in mid-August. Bearing in mind that accommodation is expensive in Banff during peak seasons, this Best Western was one of the more affordable options available. Not only do they offer a CAA rate, they include a full breakfast buffet. The latter wasn't fancy but the quality was good. The two-queen-bed room we had was certainly spacious and was let down only by a general lack of lighting (a burnt-out bulb in a wall light didn't help). Our room had a balcony with a mountain view toward Banff Avenue. While this gave us hopes of sitting out there in the evening after a busy day sightseeing, the two flood lights aimed back toward the building into our eyes made that impractical. The worst part of the stay was parking the rental car in the underground garage. The garage is ridiculously small and it's nearly impossible to get into some of the parking spots with an average sized car (and even harder to get out of them). We encountered a senior citizen who scratched up his own car (not a rental) trying, unsuccessfully, to park it. Hopefully the management let him park on the street instead (which they apparently do when they run out of spaces inside).

    « Family Vacation »

We have an excellent stay in this hotel. We got a room for family of 6 with 3 queen beds, very comfy and clean. Size of room was fair with balcony. Front desk and housekeeping staff were very nice. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool. Very good complimentary breakfast. Pet-friendly hotel. Will surely come back again and would recommend to others.

    4
    « Just right »

We could not get the room we wanted, but this was just right for the first leg of our trip. The room was clean and comfortable, the continental breakfast was good quality and great for fueling up for a day of hiking. Not as close to downtown as some might prefer, but we didn't mind at all - it was a nice walk.

    5
« Best Western Plus Banff, Alberta »

Overall excellent stay. Everything was ready at check-in. Room exceeded expectations. Excellent bed and very quiet. Best pet-friendly hotel we have ever stayed with (we could stay in any type room, not just the allocated pet-friendly rooms where upgrades are not available) so were able to stay in our preferred King Jacuzzi room. Staff were friendly and service-orientated. Would certainly stay again and would recommend to others.

« Good room for family of 5... »

My family of 5 (me, my wife and 3 kids) all stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights... the two room family suite was very suitable for us as there was one room with 2 queen beds and a separate bedroom with a queen bed... both rooms had flat-screen TV's. The hotel also had a good hot breakfast.

« Overnight before taking the Rocky Mountaineer train »

A nice hotel and comfortable. Within walking distance of the town and restaurants. Also were able to walk to the Rocky Mountaineer train station in the morning. Had a balcony with a pleasant view of the mountains.

    4
« nice place, great location »

This place was terrific. we were here for 4 nights. The beds were super comfortable, breakfast was combination of hot and cold items--lots of selections, the hot tub was just perfect after hiking. It is one street off Banff Ave, the main drag, so everything is walkable, and you get the advantage of not all the people or the noise when you want down time

    3
    « Alright could've been better »

Recently stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon trip to the mountains. Overall it was okay the room was clean staff was friendly the bed was comfortable just seemed like it was very over priced for what you got. The room could be updated the couch looked very stained and dirty. The breakfast was awesome but the kitchen to eat in was way too small for the size of the hotel. The hotel was very loud. I could hear a dog barking at night in the room across the hall so couldn't sleep and woke up very early from it being so loud. We stayed in a king room with a jacuzzi tub but half the jets on our tub didn't work. So overall probably wouldn't stay here again.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

Me and my boyfriend stayed here on our trip to Banff. The hotel was nice and clean, we had a ground floor with a king bed and a jacuzzi in the room. It was big and spacious and the bed was super comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful when we needed help printing off a park pass. Will keep this hotel in mind the next time we decide to come to Banff.

    3
    « Could have been 5!!! »

We stayed here for several nights. Overall the hotel has some excellent features - free tea and coffee 24/7, nice but small pool fine for the kids to play and the rooms were nice and clean. All things you expect from a hotel. It is a great base for all of the attractions in the area. So why only 3? The dinning room is completely inadequate for the size of the hotel. We had to take our breakfast back to our room one morning. Also the key cards keep deactivating and needed to be reset! When we went to get them reset staff just did it!!! No security questions etc so I could have been into anyone's room and taken things!! Also we were give the wrong key card when we arrived - opening the door to find the room occupied! Again had we not been honest people we could have been in and taken everything!! This is a major issue when you consider all the positives about this place. Some easy fixes would make this place a 5.

    5
    « Motel Accomodation »

The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I found the staff to be helpful. I appreciated the underground parking for my car at this motel and there was no extra cost for it. The motel is a great place to stay for the money.

    3
« Good location, iffy service »

Hotel was OK. When we arrived, the elevator was broken. Noone was able to assist with our luggage and front desk was not helpful. The next day, Elsa, who was very nice and helpful, apologized and made a slight adjustment to our bill. When paying over $350 per night at a hotel, one expects some service and having to carry our luggage up stairs is not acceptable. Room was clean. Breakfast adequate.

    5
« Best hotel breakfast ever! »

Comfortable clean room but worst pillow ever! Walking distance to town so well worth a stroll. Incredible scenery & pretty township with lots of places to eat. The breakfast offered at this hotel was amazing with both hot & cold everything on offer - a great way to start the day when travelling.

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

We booked the 2-bedroom suite. The beds were very comfortable. Rooms were very clean and very quiet. They also provided an excellent breakfast every morning and underground parking. The pool and hot tub were very nice and relaxing. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

  • 4
    « expensive but convenient »

We got the 2 bedroom suite. It was very expensive but very convenient. We were able to walk to restaurants, shops, and had parking. Breakfast was eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, etc. All we needed. Breakfast area was crowded. Ate in our room and it worked out better. Next time we may opt for Canmore.....its a lot cheaper and we had to drive to our actvities during the day anyways and we were too tired to go out to dinner.

    4
« Location good but let down by scrum for breakfast tables. »

Stayed here for 4 nights and liked the fact that the shops and restaurants were a level 15 minute walk away so there was no need to take a car. Used the underground car park and having just collected the hire car we were worried that it might be damaged whilst it was unattended but it survived unscathed. I wouldn't want to park there without a passenger's assistance in avoiding the pillars in the parking bays. Check in staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were quite dark possibly because of the dark wood furniture and it helped if you opened the net curtains to let in any natural light. The beds were comfortable, the room quite spacious, I would have liked better quality towels but that's a minor point. We located the complimentary hot water for tea making and the coffee so we made good use of those facilities. Didn't use the pool and I wonder if it was worthwhile having it. It did not influence my decision in choosing the BW Siding 29 and the space could be used for more breakfast space. The food choice for breakfast was good but let down by the seating. In better weather maybe people would sit outside but the situation we found on 3 out of 4 occasions was tables for 4 being occupied by a lone person or groups of 4 sitting at a table oblivious to their surroundings after finishing eating and drinking. This led to us feeling that we should hurry up to let other people sit down so we should become more thick skinned ourselves! Notwithstanding the breakfast room we would stay there again.

walking distance to grocery, and restraunts, also on the end of town close to interstate to national park attractions, parking is a problem for anything oversized.we have a standard full size pickup, would not fit underground .

« Great Place to Stay »

Hotel staff, room, location, service, breakfast was all very good. We enjoyed our stay, the room was beautiful, clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. Glad to have stayed here and hope to do again.

« Good Place to Stay in Banff »

There are many flashier motels on Banff Ave but Siding 29 provides comfortable rooms just a few blocks further from the hubbub of downtown Banff at a competitive price. I have stayed there four times and always been pleased. The only downside is that the single elevator is inadequate during peak times when people are checking out and going to breakfast.

    4
    « Comfortable and clean »

We spent 3 nights here, the rooms were spotless, cleaned daily with fresh fluffy towels, comfy beds and tasty breakfast included. Only downside was the size of the breakfast room only having about 9/10 tables there was nowhere to sit at times, however we went down before 8:30 and got seated fine the next mornings. Free tea and coffee in the lobby, little pool, underground car park, all amenities I'd have wanted were provided. Modern and tidy building. Haven't been disappointed by best western in Canada so far, though the ramada I'm in now is a dated and more motel like in comparison. Would stay again!

    4
« Great location reasonably priced »

This hotel is within walking distance of the Banff Ave strip and is very reasonably priced for the area. We stayed 2 nights and found the queen size room to be very adequate for our needs albeit not large. We're in Banff to explore nature and surroundings not be relegated to our room. Parking was safe and conveniently located underground, we had no issues with parking. Room decor, bathroom and sleep were very good. I'd have no issues staying here again.

    3
    « Acceptable »

Stayed from June 30 to July 3, overall the stay was acceptable. The room was rather small for a family of 4. The bathroom counter is granite and light fixture appears new. The carpeting appears dated. Wifi is free ? patchy at times. They have a pool which my family used. They serve a hot breakfast buffet, which is included in the price of the accommodation - this is probably the highlight of the stay. The towels were thin and we got one that was pretty ratty/worn out. Location wise it is south of the main strip, which is a few blocks from the end of the shopping strip. It is across from a gas station. No on-site restaurant to eat lunch / dinner but lots around that one can walk to.

    4
    « underwhelmed »

I'd give this hotel 3.5 stars if I could. I stayed here recently with my sister; we got a good deal using some kind of points she'd accumulated. The room was a good size and the facilities were fine. Breakfast is buffet style and plentiful - not amazing but good. There's a tiny 'swimming' pool adjacent to the lobby. One of the best points is the underground car park, because parking is a nightmare in Banff and it's only 5 or 10 minute walk to the centre - so why was I underwhelmed? Not sure - all a bit tired looking and blah. If we'd been paying the full room rental I would have felt over-charged - but it was ok.

    4
    « Decent stay »

Room was roomy, clean, comfy bed. It is a decent 3.5* hotel. Breakfast was good, free wifi and good connection. All in all, it is a good place, and since it is border of downtown, it is quieter which is great, a 10 mns walk. There is a shell gas station at the corner, IGA as well which is convenient, microwave and fridge in the room. Strongly recommend for a decent stay.

« Room small, but nice »

The exterior of this hotel could definitely use a facelift. It looks very outdated and not what I would expect for the price point. That being said the actual room was nice. Had the comfy beds and all the updated things needed for a good night stay. The breakfast was decent as well. The standard continental fare, nothing special. Location close to town so parking is not the best.

    4
    « Great Location , Decent Hotel »

This a well maintained older property that has been updated in a sensible fashion. Good carpets , furniture etc. Underground parking also a winner. Breakfast room a bit small for the size of hotel but it is an older property likely built before breakfasts were included.

    3
    « Very small room »

They only had one queen bed room. Hardly had room to turn around. Bathroom was very small. No electrical outlets available. Breakfast was adequate. In a very congested area. Would not stay there again. Would not recommend to friends. Very over-priced.

    4
    « Comfy stay. »

Hotel was clean and good sized room with queen sized beds. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was good and plenty of it if you wanted more! Within walking distance to the downtown area. In all we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again.

    4
« Hotel is clean with street view. Parking is small. Good breakfast. »

Hotel is nice clean. It has a pool. But we did not use that. Breakfast is very good. The breakfast area is small. Some time you will have to share table with others. The problem is parking. It is in the basement. One time we came back late. There is almost no space to park the car. The only one available is against wall. It is so small and the wall is full of car bumper scratch. Park the car into that small space is a problem. Hotel is 10 minutes walk to down town banff.

    5
    « Nice & relaxing »

Close to all attractions and within pleasant walking distance to downtown. Pleasant staff, , clean room with comfortable queen size beds. Buffet style Breakfast was excellent with plenty of food and great service, served from 07:00 to 10:00 am but don't wait until is too late as the hot buffet may run low and it is not fair to the staff to make new meals 10 mins before the close of the breakfast area. It is not their fault that you may have woken up late. there was always fresh coffee at the reception area to fill your mug before going out or coming back.

    4
« Always a pleasant stay at this property »

We have stayed at this BW property consistently over the years. It dos need some updating but if you want reasonable priced accommodation located centrally in the town of Banff ? this is the hotel to pick. As well, in Banff the breakfast included is a welcome bonus!

    3
    « Good location »

The bed at this hotel was disappointing. Too firm and not comfortable. The attention to detail in cleaning was a bit hit and miss with dirty fingerprints on Windows and mirrors. These are the only negatives The location was great and the staff very friendly. The breakfast was above average compared to other hotels in this class. We only stayed one night while checking out the area. Would recommend doing the gondola and if you go after 6 pm the rate is cheaper. 2 jack lake was defiantly worth a visit too.

    4
    « Great location »

The location of this hotel is great for visiting multiple sites around Banff. Vermillion Lake was only a few minutes drive from here as well as downtown. The room itself was a little dated and dark looking. But the beds were clean and comfy and were all able to get a good night's sleep. The complimentary breakfast was also nice. We had 4 and stayed in a room with 2 doubles and a pull out sofa overlooking the pool/hot tub area. But it quieted down for quiet hours and we were fast asleep before the sun even set (10pm) to rest up for the next day's full schedule.

    3
« Nice place to stay! »

Room was large and clean, we faced the back and it was nice and quiet. There was no gym which would have been nice. The parking garage is tight and small. Hotel was located right at the beginning of the strip so a lot of time we just walked places. The breakfast room was too small. We were elbow to elbow with people and people were sitting and socializing while others were looking for places to sit. We came early and the room was packed. I left something behind in the room and it took 3 phone calls to get someone to look for it, which was kind of annoying. Other than that, no complaints.

    « Two night stay »

After a long drive from Jasper I was ready to relax. The hotel is a little walk from the shops and restaurants but it's on the flat so nice and easy to get to. Hotel has a car park. The room was fantastic a massive bed plus I didn't realise when I booked the room had a jacuzzi bath which was going to handy after a day's hiking. Breakfast was busy on the first day but only because they had a tour bus leaving so there was a que plus the dining area is small so I took mine back to my room which was ok for me being on the ground floor might of been different if I had been on another floor but then I'm sure this doesn't happen every day. The room had everything's I needed and the staff are very friendly. Love Banff and would love to come back and visit again.

    5
    « Mid week stay »

Had a great mid week stay with two young children. Our room was backside on the main level. We didn't hear any noise. Patio door opened onto a courtyard with bench seating where we enjoyed supper one night. We slept perfectly late one day. Great breakfast! Polite, courteous staff. Underground parking.

    5
« Excellent place to stay »

The room was large and comfortable and overlooked the main road. No noise and not far from the centre of town. You could walk anywhere within a few minutes. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, but outside reception was a tea/coffee maker where you could help yourself 24 hours a day. There was also a pool and spa available.

    5
« Best included breakfast ever. »

The hotel was very clean, quiet and had friendly and helpful staff. Was really impressed with the rooms, the beds were quite comfortable with big comforters and we had an awesome sleep. The breakfast that was included with the stay was exceptional as well. It was a full hot buffet style breakfast. They had everything from pancakes and eggs to pastries and yogurt. I've actually paid for breakfast buffets at restaurants that weren't as good as this was. The staff were also very attentive in clearing and cleaning tables so there was no wait to get a seat. Highly recommend staying here on your visit to Banff.

« Not great but not bad »

It is what it is... Can't expect a cheaper hotel in Banff to be superb and have the luxurious of a 5 star. The hotel is located slightly off of downtown. Can be walked but we were traveling with small kids and it was rainy. So we had to drive into town. Parkade is extremely small and we thought leaving for the evening, we wouldn't get a spot upon returning. Luckily we did. Last one too... The room , on the 3rd floor- was a decent size, but the ceilings were extremely low, so it felt really small and cramped... I even has to duck under the shower head (and I'm only 5"4) The pool is located right by the front desk. And is also small. We didn't bother going since it was busy. And by busy I mean 5 people- which defines how small the pool is. Breakfast is include, which is a decent spread- pancakes, eggs, toast, pastries, cereal, muffins, juice, milk. Coffee... All in all, the room was clean, beds comfy, location ok. If you're looking for an ok hotel at a decent price, this one will do. There are nicer hotels in Banff, and there are worst. Would I stay here again, probably not.

    « Good overnight stay »

We stayed at this property for 1 night on our way home from a monthlong road trip out east. As you can imagine, we stayed at many hotels during this trip and this one ranked with many good hotels that we stayed at. It's not 5 star but it is a notch above some of the older Best Westerns. The room was good sized and had a balcony. There was no screen on the sliding balcony window however the bugs weren't out yet so we left it open for the night. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. We found that the room was well maintained and very clean. The coffee maker met our needs. The parking was underground and quite acceptable however we do have a small car. The location is great. It's an older property but it is in good repairs. The complimentary hot breakfast was the usual standard fare and quite enjoyable. The staff were pleasant and check-in was a breeze. Recommended.

    « 35 people 100% satisified »

We recently took 31 grade 9 students on a Western Canada field trip. We were extremely pleased with this hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. It had all of the amenities including a fridge and a microwave. The staff were really friendly and went out of there way to make sure all of our needs were met. They even gave us a case of micrwave popcorn for our students. The continental breakfast was a step above others. Delicious. Thanks for making our stay so wonderful.

    « Location & Breakfast, Wow! »

Just spent a solo weekend in Banff to recharge and relax. Never stayed at BW Siding 29 before, but will definitely make this choice again. The room was comfortable and clean and had a lovely little balcony with table and chairs where I could enjoy a cup of tea and read a bit. The included breakfast was a major bonus as they offer a full hot breakfast buffet with eggs, sausages, bacon, hashbrowns and even hot porridge and waffles or French toast as well as the usual continental breakfast choices. Kudos!!

    « Spacious, clean room! »

The room was really spacious, with two queen beds! Still it had a warm and cosy feel to it. Unfortunate that we only stayed there for one night. Breakfast was sufficient, with the typical stuff. Would choose this hotel again if we ever come back to banff.

    4
« Very Good Experience, Will Be Back »

Very content with my stay. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable, room was clean. Like the complimentary hot breakfast, and enjoyed the indoor pool, which I appreciated did not leach chlorine smell into the hallways. Stays contained. Convenient parking under the hotel in the underground garage - what more can you want for the price? 10-15 minute walk to downtown Banff

« Spacious rooms good value »

With queen size twin beds the room was spacious and beds comfortable. A refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, spa, pool and hot breakfast included in tariff this hotel was great value. It's only a short walk to the main downtown. Would recommend

« Great staff! Great hotel! »

We stayed 5 nights in a two bedroom suite. It was the perfect lay out for a family of 6! The rooms are clean and spacious. Rusty always had a surprise for the kids in the room when we got back. He had their teddy bears posed on there beds. They really looked forward to seeing what was next. The pool area is a bit small and no slides but the kids had fun! The hot breakfast is a full breakfast and lots of variety. The area is very clean and always attended. Thank you for a great family hotel. See you next year.

    5
    « Hot tub room »

We upgraded to the hot tub suite. It was a pricy upgrade but worth it for the private hot tub on the deck. The full sized hot tub and the patio seating were great. The only suggestion that I would give for the deck would be a table and chairs to eat at. The deck is definitely large enough to have it all! The king sized bed was firm. And the pull out couch was also firm but not bad. The room has a nice wet bar area which we took advantage of. The room was bright and spacious. But it did have black out blinds! The only complaint was the sound of the fan in the room which was loud and we couldn't turn off. Overall, I would stay in this room again. The hotel in general was also great. It provides an amazing free breakfast that has everything you could imagine from hashbrowns to bacon to sausages to pastry to fruit... and that's just naming a few. The hotel has an indoor pool which we never used as we simply used the hot tub on our deck. Hotel is great and I would recommend the hot tub suite!

« BW Siding 29 - Best Deal In Banff »

The combination of a large clean comfortable room for the price of a budget hotel makes this the best hotel deal in Banff. Throw in breakfast and a great location along Banff Avenue with underground parking and a good pool for the kids only increases the deal staying at the Best Western Siding 29 hotel offers.

    4
    « Great experience »

Great hotel and location. Bed was comfortable but pillows were not. Bring your own pillow. Breakfast had a large selection and was very good for a hotel breakfast. Trip Advisor says I have to make this two hundred characters minimum but this is all I have to say.

    4
    « huge rooms »

we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room - 315 - two double queens - comfortable bed and pillows - property has on site underground parking, heated indoor pool, breakfast included and about a 10-15 min walk to the centre of Banff - would highly recommend this hotel

    5
« Best of the Best »

Really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this BW. I found all employees helpful, courteous and friendly. The breakfast was AMAZING, not your typical BW continental, over and above. Set in the beautiful mountains, the hotel itself was pretty, comfortable. Would return in a heartbeat! Five star hotel.

    « Good hotel »

Great location. Lots of eating places close by. Easy walk into the town. Pool, underground secure parking, clean quiet rooms and a great breakfast. Mountain views from front facing rooms. Prices are competitive .

« Needs updating, jacuzzi tub cleanliness needs to be addressed »

Stay at this location in Banff. Coil spring mattresses, small, stiff pillows. Old, blurry TVs in odd locations. Rooms don't maintain a comfortable temperature unless you have the noisy heater running.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

Good hotel, away from Downtown Banff. Liked the underground parking. Pets are welcome. Good breakfast. A little tricky to find at first but once you landmark it is easy. You need to turn at the Shell Station and the hotel is on your right.

    « lack of cleanliness »

Dirty sheets on one bed, hairball in the shower, room only half cleaned one day (did not empty overflowing garbages, left dirty dishes); elevator stunk like bad fish for entire duration of stay, no spoons for yogurt (when asked for a spoon the staff handed the spoon over holding the bowl not the handle), frayed towels, uncomfortable mattress. Would never stay at this location again.

    « A great hotel in a good location! »

I stayed here in April 2016. I found the hotel to be clean, well maintained and very quiet. The staff was great - I had a problem with my TV and someone was there to help in less than five minutes. Underground parking is a nice amenity. The breakfast was good - hot and fresh. I will stay here again!

« quick trip to Banff »

We found this hotel to be very clean and quiet, and a quick walk to the downtown area. The breakfast (included) was very good, with a good variety of items. Breakfast area was very clean and everything was well presented. Pool was small, but very clean and bright as well.

    5
« Pleasant stay close to downtown Banff »

We had a clean, comfortable room with two queen beds. We stayed two nights. Close to downtown Banff and other attractions. Breakfast was pretty good. Hot and cold buffet. Didn't have time to use pool.

« Good, Less Expensive Stay »

Our family stayed at this location during Easter break. The hotel was full as expected but everything ran smoothly from the time we first visited the front desk for check in, to the time we checked out. They offer a good variety of breakfast items for their free breakfast and are there to keep things stocked up as food depletes. The staff were helpful in questions and polite. The only negative thing to say was that our room was fairly warm. We mentioned it to them and they said they don't have the ac on yet because it's not the season for it. This is understandable. We found a solution by opening our sliding doors to let cooler air in at night. Overall, a good place to stay and well located to downtown. I would recommend this hotel and stay there in the future.

    « Banff in April 2015 »

The Best Western Siding 29 is such a nice hotel that we have used it every year for our family ski trip ever since I can remember. The location is very good, the staff is super, the rooms large and the beds comfortable. We use the pool and whirlpool every evening and find the breakfast hot, quick, and enjoyable. We will be back next year.

    « "Comfortable Hotel in Banff " »

We decided to have a longer tour hours in Banff area and we ended up in this Hotel. The room we've got is spacious with balcony. Its near to downtown shops and restaurants :) The breakfast is great as well and with a heated parking lot at the basement. It was a nice stay in this hotel and will surely comeback once I set my foot again in Banff.

    « Utterly disappointing »

I booked this hotel based on the good reviews and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. The breakfast is mediocre. It is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. I suspect the walls are made of paper! The cleaning staff threw away our ski pass (it's a ski resort!!!!) and the place we bought it from said this has happened before in this hotel and wondered if it had been stolen! Every morning at 8 am we were woken up by maintenance or housekeeping even when the do not disturb sign was up. DO NOT BOOK. There are far nicer hotels for the same price in Banff

    4
    « One Night Stay »

Very comfortable well appointed large room, with a balcony. Bathroom was modern and clean. Nice spot to stay for an overnight in Banff. It is a short walk to downtown for shops and restaurants, as well as the numerous hiking trails located throughout Banff. Heated Underground parking is included, which is a bonus particularly in winter months.

    4
    « Very comfortable stay. »

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much. Our room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was great too. We will absolutely consider Siding 29 Lodge when planning our next ski trip to Banf, and for next season's trips as well.

« Great Quick Stop in Banff »

My fiancée and I were driving from Kelowna to Manitoba and booked at the Best Western Plus Siding 29 Lodge as a stop along the way. To our surprise they had upgraded us to a jacuzzi suite since we were Best Western Rewards members. The room was a little dated, but very well maintained and the jacuzzi was a lovely treat, so much so that we didn't even leave the room to use the pool. Both ladies at reception were lovely during check in and check out. The breakfast was fine, nothing to write home about, but enough selection that you won't go hungry. Location wise it was in good walking distance, and it was handy that the Safeway was just a 10 minute walk away. We would definitely stay again.

    « Holiday »

Although hotel is a little older, rooms appear to have been renovated and have ample room to relax along with a large sitting area to enjoy a a game or two in the evening. Bathrooms were very well done with updated tubs and shower. Arrived very early on day of arrival yet staff extremely helpful getting us into our room and providing late check out on our departure date for outgoing flight. Impressed with pool and hot tub as temperature in pool was nice and warm and first hotel hot tub I have seen that was hot enough with excellent jets. Hotel location is perfect, walk to downtown is short along with other restaurants in surrounding lodges nearby. Small liquor/beer store next door for those wanting a bottle of wine or cold one to put in the fridge. Would definitely recommend this hotel, only gave a 4 as it is a little dated but a great stay for the rate we secured.

    4
    « A great find »

This hotel was a nice surprise! The pool and hot tub area provided a nice way to unwind after a full day of skiing. Around a 10 minute walk from downtown, the location provided a great quiet space to relax. The underground parking was an added bonus. The breakfast was fairly good as well.

    « Great stay.... »

My husband and our son enjoyed our stay here. We took advantage of the pool. Go prepared with towels and wear flip flops feom your room as there are no change rooms in the pool area.....if you are shy you may not like it as it is pretty visible for those going up to the second floor or even on the second floor. We didnt mind it and our 3 yr. old loved it. Great breakfast with bacon & eggs & cereal & toast & fruit and much more..... Free wifi in rooms! Underground parking also nice! Would stay here again

« Quick trip to Banff »

Stayed at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Siding 29 Lodge in Banff this past October 2015 with my wife and a friend. The hotel is well situated and within walking distance to the central part of the downtown area. The rooms were very clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet. As mentioned by Bruce B, they do serve very good breakfasts but the dining area is a little bit on the cramped side. It would be a good idea to expand the dining area, if possible. If not, it's something that we can live with, I guess. Underground parking is good. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

    4
    « Best Western Siding 29 Banff »

The usual good Best Western hotel. Decent size and clean rooms, decent breakfast. Only problem was that ground floor room was stuffy - couldn't get windows open an not AC in the winter. Also never got a bill either by copy under door and no e-mail ever arrived.

    « Banff vaction »

Staff were awesome ... very helpful. Hair dryer was not working in room but was replaced within 15 minutes. Location is close walking distance to most things. Hot breakfast included bacon, eggs, sausage and hash browns was good however the layout of breakfast area was a bit cramped. When we checked into hotel we were located in back of hotel which faces a townhouse and room smelled of too much air freshener. Changed to a front room much better view and smell. Enjoyed having a balcony. Parking underground was good but a bit cramped. We stayed during the week so it was no problem getting a spot. On weekends I could see there not being enough spots. Overall good experience would stay again.

    5
    « Business Trip »

I have stayed at this hotel previously when I was in Banff on business and would definitely recommend it. It is conveniently located and have always found the staff to be very pleasant and professional. The breakfast has a wide choice and the rooms at least the ones I have had are quite spacious.

    5
« good quality good value »

My wife was very impressed with cleanliness of the room. We thought it was great quality for the value. Breakfast was very good quality and well maintained. Good view. the beds were very comfortable. If you have a larger vehicle parking is a bit difficult but there is underground for regular cars.

« Poor Management and dirty room »

I complained on the first two days to the front desk employee and requested to speak to the Manager on both occasions. The Manager was not available and did not follow up. The front desk told us there was a party in the room the night before and the room was very dirty so our arrival early check in was not granted. The check in was just after 3pm. The room had a tobacco odor and there was sticky substance all over the hall to bathroom and all over doors and handle. (Perhaps beer or wine). There was blood on the curtains and a brown stain above the bed. This is what I could see so there must have been more. This is the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in and my family were most uncomfortable in the room and the first time I have complained on the BW product. As a diamond member I am most disappointed with the service and room, reading other trip advisor comments the same has occurred to others. This can only mean poor hotel Management not caring about the BW brand. Until a competent Manager is put in place I will not stay at this location again and will recommend others do not.

    « Expected Better »

Our room was nice, spacious and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was enormous! Moving along with the stay, we were expecting to be able to access in room movies - rental or pay per view. It's not out of the ordinary for hotels to offer this and this one specifically said they do, in the hotel details we looked at when booking. There was no hotel information binder that all other Best Westerns we've stayed at, have in their rooms. This made it difficult to determine any further specific details or options or services available for our stay. Breakfast in the morning was in a room far too crowded. It was difficult to get to anything and when we did there was no place to sit to eat it. Most people seemed to opt to take it up to their room. Perhaps, taking up seats and table space in the lobby might have served as a strong suggestion to the management. As with the under-sized breakfast room, there was under-sized hot water supply. We also had little to no hot water in the morning. Carpets throughout the hotel were also extremely dirty. It's not a terrible hotel but it's also not the least expensive hotel around, either. We expected much better than it really was. It was a little disappointing.

    4
« Reasonable rate for banff »

This is average best western, we chose it cause its pet friendly. The rate per night was very reasonable for banff. The rooms good use a good spring clean, walls need to be washed and baseboards scrubbed, I always carry lysol wipes for a extra clean. The breakfast was great , lots of options, the staff was great very friendly. I would and will stay again , I hope they work on their cleanliness?.

« Good place at a decent price... »

Summary ? a good place to stay. Close enough to Downtown Banff, free parking, free wifi, decent hot breakfast. Pros ? In addition to the above, the room was a nice size and in good condition. Room had a good size fridge and a microwave. Complimentary coffee and tea is available in the lobby right outside the breakfast dining room. Cons ? The beds are not luxury beds ? no pillow tops. So if you're looking for a soft comfy bed, this isn't the place. The bed was decent but I did miss the pillow top. Also, while the free breakfast was good, the dining room was very small so seating can be a challenge.

    « Very Dirty Room!!! »

Let's start with the positive... We attempted to check in a little early, but our room wasn't ready, fortunately we were allowed to park in the parkade. When we finally checked in it was fast & friendly. Now, for the not so positive... We paid $350 a night for a room with the private hot tub on the balcony, which may have had too much chlorine (or it was dirty) cause we were incredibly itchy afterwards. The carpet is in severe need of a cleaning. The bathroom floor had hair pins & hair all over, which means it was not wiped down. The bathtub also had hair in it. It was the worst king bed I've ever slept in & the pillows were horrific. The wet bar was in pretty rough shape as well. This is my second time renting this room & as much as I enjoy the idea of the private hot tub I don't think it's worth staying here again...far too dirty.

« Always Drove Past - No Longer! »

My wife booked the hotel, we literally have driven by many times and booked elsewhere... To our surprise the room was large with fairly new fixtures. Easy access to everything and a decent walk into town. The pool and hot tub was good for us... The breakfast was perfect sausage, bacon, oatmeal, etc. We will 100% stay here again - if there was any complaint it might be the parking stalls are not very big...

    « Weekend getaway. »

The parking lot during check-in is a little bit small. Although the check in process was quick during my arrival. Underground parking is available using your room key. The room I rented was a very adequate 2 queen room (please see my pictures). They have complimentary HOT breakfast in the mornings that consist of everything you would have in a standard hotel chain (cereals, toast, yogourt, fruit, orange/apple juices) but in addition: sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes (see picture of a sample plate). They also have a swimming pool here which was average. The bathroom sink had a crack in it though but other than that, very good.

« Affordable place with breakfast »

Booked way in advance and stayed for 2 nights. Parking was included and there were plenty of free spots. Room big size with king bed, fridge and micro was clean, still needed face lift. Bed sheet was fresh but needed replacement due to spots I found just prior departure. Breakfast was better than average continental, still not so good as we ate in other Best Western locations. There are pool and hot (warm will be right) tub onsite. Unfortunately both of them are very close and cold water splash will reach you in the tub. I'm not sure that will come back as there is no sauna or steam room; so needed after ski day.

    « Average, but friendly »

The rooms were average, but the lobby and hallways definitely need some upgrading (I believe they are doing renos right now) Front Desk Agent was friendly, however housekeeping had came into my room probably 3 times when a DO NOT DISTURB sign was on the handle.. 3 times? Seriously? I was granted a later check out which was very helpful, so thanks to the manager for that but possibly some better communication with Front Desk and housekeepers could be improved so I'm not being interrupted during my sleep.

« Average Hotel, Decent Pricing »

I stayed here while visiting Banff. Located walking distance from all the shops and restaurants in the Area. It's a little dated, and the smell of chlorine from the indoor pool/spa wafts through the hallway. Their free breakfast is really basic and nothing special, but still FREE! I spent three nights here and thought it was rather inexpensive compared to the other hotels nearby. If you're on a budget, this would be a good place to spend your night.

    « Not the best »

We stayed 1 night at this hotel and we were told on check-in that their pool was closed because of vandalism which is strange because it is opposite the front desk. The rooms were nice but there was no coffee for the in room coffee machine. They do have a free breakfast however don't expect quality food. You get what you pay for. Not in the center of town but still noisy from the main street and trains.

« We love to stay at Siding 29! »

Its our go to place to stay in Banff ! It is #1 pet friendly too - our collie loves it too! The staff are so caring and gracious. The rooms are comfy and clean. Its a quaint place and our favorite out of others we tried. Nice touch with free breakfast buffet

« Right downtown and very cozy »

We stayed at this small hotel in Banff Village for a night on our way to a conference. It was cozy and while the room was small, it had two very comfortable wing-back chairs. We were able to explore the town on foot and many places for dinner were nearby. The breakfast was the better than many breakfast-included hotels, with eggs and bacon, fruit, cereal and waffles.

    « Better than expected! »

We stayed for free after redeeming some of our airmiles points. And we were happily surprised! The building & room decor is very modern. Our room was spacious & very clean; we got a standard 2 queens room. Free parking, free WiFi that worked great, free hot breakfast that was decent. Having a fridge & microwave in the room was also great. We plan to stay again!

    « Girls weekend »

We chose this hotel because our stay 2 years ago exceeded expectations. Although an older hotel and dated from the outside, the rooms had been redone and it was very quaint. It's likely just gone a bit downhill since then. Beds were hard including the pillows so fairly uncomfortable. Bathroom small although the reno's were good. There was a hole in the wall near the electrical outlet that was a bit bizarre. The mirrors were dirty. The mini refrigerator dented. The bedding had a large dirty footprint on one of the beds the second night, so the overall cleanliness was questionable. Tiny hot tub was overrun with hotel guests so we got in and got out quickly. When we called about the dirty bedding the hotel staff was unapologetic. For similar to what you'd pay to stay at the Rimrock, I would just go to the Rimrock and enjoy yourself.

« Good room bad service »

Good room and breakfast, small pool with too much clorine - hard to breath even. Receptionist like a doctor - have to pull out all info. Charged $100 for deposit without any explanation. Had to call afterwards just be explained that this money would be returned. What a nonsense!

    « Ski Trip »

I stay in hotels all over North America on business. I stayed at this hotel during a ski trip in the Banff area, iit was most pleasing, the room was great, the staff was pleasant and the breakfast was much better than the one II have in most hotels that include breakfast.

    « Overnight stay »

Good value for $$ spent. Very nice hot breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location near several good restaurants. Would definitely stay here again. Pool clean.Underground parking a definite asset. especially in winter.

    « Ski trip »

Don't book any hotel in Banff on a weekend , -1 star for that, jacked up prices. Yelling people in the hall at 3:30am -1 star for that. Good place otherwise, nice room, decent bed , good bathroom overall good room layout with balcony. Ok view of outside. Slight temperature issue in the rooms and building but tolerable. Excellent location for ski hills. Great breakfast typical hotel one. Friendly people. Staff was great and helpful. Indoor parking. +6 star for all the above. I'd probably stay here again. Hot tub was small ,needed to be the size of half the pool, also needed to be an outside one. Maybe could use new carpet and entrance Reno . Get rid of iPhone alarm clocks nobody has that or put an adapter or something.

« Decent hotel if you want to walk blocks for parking »

Avoid this hotel if you want to be able to park close. The underground parking is extremely tight and will fill up to capacity even when the hotel is not full. During our stay, we were forced to park on the street several blocks away and had to navigate dark and slippery sidewalks back to the hotel. The hotel and rooms are actually quite nice...better than we expected.

« Best Price and great stay »

The Best Western Banff is affordable with a breakfast included. If you are swinging through to Ski and don't want to break the bank this is the hotel to stay in. Rooms are nice - internet is strong and overall you can't go wrong.

« Banff is such a beautiful place »

The rooms were good, the bed slept well but the rooms were very hot and it was difficult to adjust the temperature. Some of the staff were not particularly helpful. They cannot accommodate change for the guests where the guests had other tourist commitments. Parking beneath the hotel was fantastic.

    3
    « Average at best »

for a Best Western Plus, it does not exceed any Best Western hotels we have stayed in in the past. I would rate the Best Western in Canmore more of a Best Western Plus than I would this one. Although staff was friendly enough, they didn't seem to go out of their way. Breakfast room, meals were cold and juices not replenished.

    5
« Great Winter Vacation Place To Stay »

With the exception of a ventilation system problem this hotel provides great service with a very friendly staff at a reasonable price for a tourist location like Banff. Underground parking is a real added bonus especially in the cold weather.

    2
    « book on agoda.com not BW.com »

You will get the cheapest rates on Agoda.com or some other website instead of BW.com My room was 17$ less on agoda and 9 less on booking.com The BW website jacks up prices. It says they will match any price on the website but I spent an hour on the phone with somebody trying to fix it. Futile efforts trying to make them match what they advertise.

    3
    « Family skiing trip »

I am at crossroad to give this hotel 2 points or 3 points. Typical Best Western Plus is a great hotel. This one has only Plus in the name. Our room on the upper third floor was great - very open and with large glass sliding door to the balcony. Picture above actually show part of our room from outside. The room was spotless and clean and everything worked. Free internet had reasonable speed. TV was working. Bed with 4 pillows was fine as well. Bathroom was clean as well. The minuses were discovered within few hours. The door to the balcony had no locks and was protected by wooden stick. Leaving few laptops and passports in the room while skiing - car sounded as better alternative. There are no safe boxes. When we got to the room it was minus 20 outside and room was cold. Any attempt to adjust temperature in the room using thermostat did not provide any results. And if anyone will say that I cannot adjust thermostat - its part of my occupation. Complain to the front desk on 2 days had the same answer and same smile - we will take care of it. The bathroom located under AC unit was very hot and keeping bathroom door open at night really helped. The corridors had similar problems - overheated at night and cooled with outdoor air (-20C) during day time. As a professional opinion - personnel does not know how to operate hotel HVAC system or do not care. Breakfast - does not worst to mentioned. Very plainly made scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausages. Supermarket quality waffles. Not even a waffle machine found in most regular Best Westerns. Location is very good within 2-3 blocks from restaurants, supermarket and liquor store is around corner. Its a reasonable hotel but I don't think it could qualify for Best Western PLUS, more like regular Best Western.

    « Not bad »

Room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was also a good size. The TV and cable didn't work, which was not an issue for me or my wife, but disappointing for my 5 year old, who found the evenings/mornings quite boring without it. No bar or restaurant and my wife found that the swimming pool was over chlorinated. Decent breakfast although fresh juices ran out regularly and seemed to take an age to be restocked. Not too far away from the town centre.

    « Exceeds Expectations »

Surpassed all expectations. Room was spacious with large flat screen tv, free wifi, and the room and bathroom were nicely renovated. Got a room on the first floor, which allowed us to let the dog out easily through our room (sliding door opens up to communal patio). Free tea and coffee in the lobby was a warm welcome during our chilly stay-- though it would have been nice to have some HOT CHOCOLATE as well. The free breakfast was impressive. Considering that we got breakfast at a later time, the variety of food available was very accommodating. While the underground parking was free, be aware that the number of stalls are limited and fill up rather quickly in the evening.

    5
« Great spot in Banff »

Beds are exceptional, breakfast is the best continental we've had anywhere, bit of a walk to the mainstreet of Banff but it's a lovely walk, underground parking is the best (not friendly to trucks with large tires, but fits SUVs). Would stay there again.

    3
    « A Hard Night »

The bed was overly firm and my husband and I both woke up with a severe backache. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and a full breakfast. Our family spent our 3 days of Christmas there with our dog.

    4
« Ideal location, comfortable room »

A good comfortable hotel situated just a short walk from downtown Banff with the added bonus of some good mountain views. The room was spacious and comfortable if a bit hot (due to the air con not being on in the hotel). A good breakfast spoiled by being in a very small room and guests having to wait for a free table.

« Cozy stay in downtown Banff! »

Our stay at this hotel was great from check-in to check out. Friendly and helpful staff, impeccably clean rooms and close to everything downtown at a reasonable price. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well as took advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast that had a variety of options.

« So so place to stay! »

My brother Seigfried and I stayed here from May 20th to the 24th or a total of three nights. The room was comfortable and clean. The building is not new like the one in Canmore with nice views. There was no screen door on the balcony and I don't understand why not unless previous guests wrecked it. The bed was very comfortable. Even though it was not tourist season it was very busy as every room was booked. We parked in the garage and left the vehicle for the duration of the stay as we were afraid that we wouldn't get a spot if we left. Breakfast was a horror show. The first morning I went down I arrived just in time as there was still seating but quickly filled up. There was nowhere to sit by the time I left. The food was good. The next morning I didn't bother as my brother went down at 6.30 and returned to tell me that it was jam-packed in the breakfast room. On Saturday we expected it to be crowded but we were pleasantly surprised to find very few sitting. The beds are very comfortable. I stayed in the room most of the time was I was not getting enough sleep. Staff came in to clean and were very friendly. I also enjoyed watching the big screen t.v. as it was about 50 inches. Generally it was quiet and I didn't hear much noise. Even when staff cleaned other rooms it was quiet. I would consider staying there again if visiting Banff again.

    « Disappointing! »

We are Best Western Diamond and had been having excellent experiences with this chain as we crossed the Western US and Canada.... until we arrived at the Banff property. On the one hand, we were grateful that we were able to snag a reservation at the last minute. On the other hand, the hotel itself was a huge disappointment. The hotel has very low ceilings, narrow corridors and small rooms giving the place an overall claustrophobic effect. This experience is highlighted by the very tiny, creepy garage where guests are forced to park because there is no street parking available. The breakfast room is tiny, overcrowded and generally unpleasant. Front desk staff was indifferent. Breakfast amongst the worst on a 90 day trip. Would not stay here again.

    4
    « Dependable Quality »

A typical Best Western experience - clean rooms, good staff, nice property, underground parking. Walking distance to food and entertainment. Have stayed here before and would stay here again. Priced similar to other local hotels.

    3
    « Hotel needs TLC »

Areas of the hotel need some TLC. Staff were not overly friendly. Toilet plunger was left in main hallway and cleaning staff did not seem to think it should be removed. A toilet plunger with wet toilet paper hanging on it does not show me that the staff care about appearances. There were no instructions for the hot tub and had to ask front desk clerk to come and show us how to operate it. Wouldn't return to this hotel and was overpriced for what you got.

« Just being in Banff makes everything better. »

Staff was courteous, efficient and helpful. Facility is well located, convenient to restaurants, shopping, etc. Rooms are very comfortable and well above adequate. Pet friendly with nice area to walk dogs. Underground protected parking with elevator to room floors. Very pleased. Recommend and we would stay there again.

    3
    « Parking limited »

Had a nice stay overall. This is an old hotel. The hotel was clean. The staff was very friendly. They breakfast was okay. Room was clean. The parking is limited. There is underground parking and a few spots out front. If you arrive late, you might have to park along the street. It is located on the end of town, making easy to get around town or out of town.

    5
« Very helpful staff and good value »

Used my AMA to get a great rate. Very helpful staff! They offer breakfast with your stay and the quality of the food is good. It is also pet friendly, so your critters can stay too! We needed the room for some extra time on the day we were checking out and the young man at the desk was very kind and allowed us to have a late check out! I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Banff. They are close to the main street but also far enough away that it is quiet. They have underground parking to keep the snow and ice off your vehicle.

    4
    « Very Good Hotel »

Very good Hotel at very nice location at Banff. Rooms are nice, Breakfast is good. Clean. Under ground parking which is very good for winter time specially at low temperature or snow. I will book this hotel again. I will recommended my friends to stay at this hotel.

« Repeat Visit - Still meeting expectations... »

We have stayed before. We really appreciate the consistency that we get with the Best Western Plus chain. Always clean, beds are comfortable, pillows are good, rooms are spacious, everything works all the time. A full self serve breakfast has become the standard, love the fact that they have hard boiled eggs, and other healthy choices. Our stays always meets our expectations. Will continue to be a repeat visitor.

    1
    « Banditos! »

Even if you don't stay at their hotel, once they have your $ they will keep it. Rip off artists! Didn't stay there, but received a charge on our credit card. don't recall making a reservation, wasn't even in Banff that night. Was in Seattle. Never received an email confirmation of the reservation so we could have cancelled. When this was explained to Elsa Tungpalan her attitude was "I have your money and I'm keeping it."

    4
    « Great location »

The hotel is within walking distance to downtown and shopping and restaurants. Lots of space in our room. The breakfast was very nice; lots to choose from, including hot food and fresh cut-up fruit. The swimming pool, however, was not very warm, but the hot tub was nice. The free parking included is always a nice feature.

    4
    « Excellent - Except for Dogs »

We enjoyed staying at the Best Western PLUS Siding 29 Lodge. Our room was kept immaculately clean. It was a large room that also had generous outdoor balcony space. We had plenty of clean over-sized white towels in the bathroom. Given the fact that the streets of Banff are very congested, we appreciated the underground parking that was provided at no extra charge. We feel that we received good value for our vacation dollars. There was only one disappointment. This hotel has a very liberal policy of allowing pets. We encountered three dogs during our stay. One of these dogs appeared to be quite intimidating in the hallway. I would recommend that the hotel review their current pet policy. "Seeing-eye" dogs, and other working dogs should be welcomed. Other pets should be left at home.

    « O.K. for a night »

I like the Best Western chain. This is a fairly standard hotel, not exceptional. This review is a bit late as we stayed in May 2015. The price was good. There is parking. The pool / hot tub area is nice, the pool a bit small. A standard hot breakfast - eggs sausage croissants cereal. The hotel is at the end of town so not the most convenient for strolling. There is a computer in the lobby for use so was able to book my next hotel in Jasper.

    5
    « Exceptional »

From arrival to departure staff anticipated every comfort by asking daily "Is there anything we can do for you today?" Location to downtown, restaurants, highway access, wonderful neighborhood, local market. Perfect location. Home away from home. Loved it.

    2
    « Best Western Minus »

I thought the "Plus" was supposed to be good, but it was a definite step down from regular Best Western hotels we've seen in recent years. Not sure why the good reviews, maybe they stayed after someone like us had cleaned the room. Even then, it wouldn't be good. I'll give the facts & you decide what's important to you: Good: Looks good, reasonably quiet. Problems: Bathroom & sink cleaned OK, but shower curtain didn't look clean and room was very dusty--headboard, shelf by microwave, ledge on top of back splash, etc. Valence had large ugly stain, one pillow case stained & two literally falling apart at the seems so dirty pillow sticking out. No sheet over the comforter as is the standard for a hotel in the class this wants to be in. Mattress was very worn out--hard and sagged toward the middle. And they had one of those ridiculous tiny toilets that a man can't sit down on without holding onto his junk to keep it from touching inside the toilet, even smaller than most round-bowl toilets. What do they expect--should I sit down and pee on the floor? Can't do "1" &"2" at the same time. Garage entry and parking area all very tight--can't get in while cars are coming out, and can't see them coming as you go down the narrow ramp, lots of people have to back up & move forward, then back again to make the turn, all with cars waiting. Breakfast room was way to small. People standing waiting for a table. Continuous toasting machine required 3-4 times through to slightly warm waffles or bread, potatoes dry, sausage was OK, but only good thing about breakfast was the fresh fruit mix.

    5
    « Very good value »

The hotel is older than most BW's - but very well kept and and comfortable. The basement free parking is nice & secure. There is always free coffee & tea available. This location is very nice; about 6 blocks from the restaurants and shops of downtown. A bus stop is in front of the hotel next door if you want to take a bus downtown for $2.00. Breakfast is good, but the room is a little cramped if you come during peak times. We had a nice balcony too.

    3
    « Average stay »

Great location to walk to town, but we left a little disappointed after staying here. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast room was pretty chaotic and unless you got in early, selection was limited as we arrive one morning with 30 minutes left and staff were not replenishing cereal, yogurts or breads. Underground parking was also full to capacity. The kids had fun in the pool.

    4
« So good we extended our stay »

3 adults travelling together found this hotel perfect. Our room was a 3 bed suite (one bed in a separate room) and very comfortable beds and clean room. Well equipped too So we slightly changed our itinerary to stay another night. Sadly we couldn't keep our original room and spent the second night in a regular room, but still enjoyable. Breakfast was okay--fairly typical of the area. Very good location and free parking.

« Good choice in a busy busy town »

Banff was hard to book. We had one night here in a king then out to back country Lodge then back here for 2 nights in a queen double. Queen double was better and cheaper. Breakfast was popular and plenty of it. Happy with the service, cleanliness of this place.
