"Disappointed in this Best Western affiliated hotel"
Needs deep cleaning. We asked to be moved to a non-pet room as this one had a very dirty rug. We were moved to a smoking room which actually smelled better than the “pet room.” Breakfast was simply awful. Staff was accommodating.

"Non functional bathroom"
Very dissatisfied that the hotel would rent me a room with stopped commode and inconsistent hot shower water. Additionally, the following morning they decide to shut the water off. I was in a middle of a shower, so ended up unable to rinse off.

"Great Christmas"
The room was comfortable and quiet, just right for our Christmas get-a-way. The best part of the hotel was the night clerk 'Alexis'. She was friendly and delightful to talk with and very helpful. For two people trying to recover from BTSD, and having to deal with the holidays, Alexis was a god sent. Have fun in Zapata.
"What a dump"
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! Bugs and lizards in the room. Probably a few murders happened here. After check in I immediately checked out. Nothing has been updated since 1980. Gaps under front door to let all kinds of critters in. ☠️

"Quick getaway!"
Took a random trip to get away from a heavy week from work. Usually I can't wait to check out from rooms but at this hotel I didn't even want to leave. The room was comfortable and cozy. The wifi was extremely fast for a hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Answered any question and had amazing service all around.
"Horrible"
Wet cigarette smell, noisy rooms, hard beds and pillows. If that's what you like then by all means stay here. Nice people that manage it but that's not enough to make me want to stay here again. .......
"Maybe not but they try"
Stayed here with my husband for a business trip unfortunately. It's not the motel, it's the town. It's God awful. Three pandemic made it worse. They aren't even in a high traffic town and it's martial law here. As far as the motel goes... The ac went out and they replaced it. The washing machine went out and they fixed it. Going to an Airbnb tomorrow. Again, the motel did their best but this town is AWFUL.
"Happy campers"
We have our yearly family gathers in Zapata, Texas. Our choice of comfort is Sure Stay, the staff is friendly, the room was clean, bed felt just like home.Thank you for our accomodations. No regrets!!
"Decent place"
Its an older place but our room (#151) was fine. Very comfortable bed, nice size room, freezer in the fridge, microwave. Very quiet. The pool looked very nice but we didn't use it. A previous review commented on the HOT water .. yet, the water from the hot faucet was very hot, and it took a LONG time for the cold water to get cold .... but if the pipes are outside and its hot weather, guess what ? Ya get hot water from the cold faucet for a while. Once cold, it was great. The breakfast was adequate, the coffee was very good. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient.
"Family visit"
The trip to visit family was awesome and the hospitality at the hotel made us feel welcomed and eager to go revisit our family. The price was good the cleanliness of the rooms were very good. We will definitely stay here again.
"Dissapointed in lack of response by managment to dangerous water issue"
I do not do a whole lot of ratings, but felt compelled to do this one after finding out the issues we experienced here have not been addressed for at least 2 years. Search the reviews for the word hot after I share our experience. Our stay was okay except for the fact that the plumbing is messed up. We also got hot water out of the cold faucet on the tub, sink and toilet. In order to get cold water we had to let it run several minutes. My concern is that a child could go to wash their hands and be scalded, the hot water is hot and quick. We were there 2 nights, informed them the first morning and nothing was done, made sure we informed the manager when we left and expected it to be fixed. Apparently not since others have reported the same issue several times (read the reviews) My theory is that there is a broken mixing valve or cross connection in the water system, and apparently they have no intent of fixing it. See the reviews in Jun 2, 2017, May 2, 2016, and October 31, 2015
"Best stay in a Hotel"
I have to travel a lot the past two years. I have stayed in Temple, Waco, Austin, Dallas and now Zapata. This was the best Hotel out of all of the rest I have stayed in. the staff was friendly and helpful for any and all of my needs. The cleanest hotel room I have every stayed in.
"Great place to stay"
We stayed 2 nights, great nights sleep, everyone nice and helpful felt safe after evacuating for hurricane harvey! Falcon Lake nearby went for nice walk you can fish too! Cute little town Mc donalds nearby, and coupleof interesting sites!
"business/pleasure out of the sudden"
I called last minute. the front desk clerk was very informative, helpful and friendly. she provided assistance in whatever I requested. the hotel is pretty good comparing its an old building. the location right beside Falcon Lake makes it very attractive for fishermen and visitors, Its close to Zapata Museum that has a lot of history
"Outstanding place!!!"
I couldn't be more happier than the place I stayed at I recommend this place to anyone who wants a great night sleep I will be returning soon for this place is amazing as well as the employees being amazing
"Unpleasant stay "
Review of our stay at the Zapata Best Western Inn By The Lake: We realize each Best Western is independently owned and operated, yet we are sure there are common standards the Best Western corporation maintains. The reservation and front desk attendant upon our arrival to the BW Inn By The Lake were pleasant. Both of these experiences were handled by the General Manager, (GM). Our room, #143, accommodations were less than one would expect in BW property. The water faucets in both the shower and bathroom sink only dispensed hot water. We never got cold water to come out of the faucet. There was also a cat on the front door of the room. From what we could tell, the cat stayed at different doors. The cat attempted to enter our room when we opened the door! Upon our check out, our experience with the front desk also changed. We mentioned the water and the cat issues to the GM. She said we should've brought the hot water issue to her attention or else it could not be addressed. Seriously? When housekeeping does their daily clean up, do they not used water to clean the bathroom sink and shower? Could they have not noticed the issue and addressed it to the management or maintenance crew? It there not a standard to see that each room is properly furnished and in good working order before it is assigned to a guest? Based on our experience, we think not because my daughter and her husband (Room #150) had the horrifying experience of dirty bed linens in their bed and were moved during the night! So completely unacceptable. As for the cat, the GM said it was not their cat and there was nothing they could do about it. Is it not the BW responsibility to maintain a safe environment for their guest? Is it acceptable to keep a cat around that enters a guests' room upon opening the door? If the the cat was a snake, it would not be BW responsibility to remove it? Would it have been the guests responsibility to remove the snake or in this case, the cat? We don't know if the cat is sick or has rabies. We will not be guests of BW again. We stayed at the BW Inn By The Lake because it was highly recommended and the place of choice by the host of a family event. We shared our experience with our host, so that they will know not to recommend this property again.
