Front desk is run by teen age/young girls who don't appear interested to customers needs. The first room we got the tv didn't work. When we got to breakfast, no one was watching it to make sure the food was filled up. We had to ask for them to make more eggs because they ran out and none were made. Coffee ran out of creamer twice in 2 days and I had to ask them to fill the creamer. No one is ever present at the front desk, they are sitting on the side so they can' t be seen. Washer was turned off and the water hoses had to be turned on. One man at the front desk couldn't speak very good English and difficult to understand him. We were told that the owner does not come to the property. Does not meet our expectations of most Best Westerns that we have stayed in.
Stained carpet, it really looked bad! I had no choice of coffee in the room, decaf only; the coffee maker top was broken. Hard to contact desk at check-in and check-out. Had called for a wake-up call but never got it. Definitely not worth the money I paid!
Very poor breakfast. Waffle irons present, but no batter available for the time I stayed there. No bowls available for cereal or oatmeal. When I asked front desk about above issues, I was informed that they would be corrected by next day-- no such luck. When I asked again, front desk was very unfriendly to me. I asked to speak with manager Sahil-- front desk clerk stated that she texted Sahil to contact me; however, he ignored request and never contacted me.
Check in was a breeze, the location makes it easy to get to nearby atrractions and points beyond. We enjoyed the sofabed to sit and relax and enjoy a beverage. HVAC worked great, set sleeping temp and it held a nice cool temp for great sleeping.
Our stay was pleasant, and met best western standards. Room was clean, breakfast was typical continental breakfast, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, waffles, juice, coffee, bagels. Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.
Our family of three I arrived a little after 7pm. The hotel and grounds looked nice and the front lobby was clean and pretty much empty except for a guest coming and going now and then. The check in clerk was very nice and easy to speak with. For the next hour, the clerk (and I) would struggle through multiple difficulties reserving/booking our room for the evening, as I wanted the price that I was verbally quoted just a couple of hours prior to my arrival, when using the Reservations 1-800- number to check price and availability, but she kept telling me that I couldn't have the "Online Pricing" (quite a few times, but I assured her it was a phone convo with BW Rep.). When speaking with the Rep. over the phone earlier, I was told that if I were to become a Best Western Rewards Member, I would get better pricing, so I did. Unfortunately, due to the stipulations that, if I did NOT show up that evening my credit card WOULD be charged the full amount for the rental, even though they claim that the c/c is NOT being "charged until check in". Yep, something to do with "wording", so I chose to ask for my NEW Rewards Member number and just went directly to the hotel. Sadly, the phone rep gave me the WRONG number, ugh. The rest didn't go much easier, just KNOW to have your Membership Number BEFORE making any reservations! The .com site went down twice, mine and the clerks. Nope, I didn't get the price I was quoted over the phone, so I only saved $5.00 and it really wasn't worth the hassle in the end. PLEASE READ: The POOL was too cold to enjoy (should be between 77-82 degrees). The "Breakfast Attendant was off that day" (per an email from the manager yesterday), so NOPE, not much left for me to eat, not even milk for dry cereal, BUT the yogurt was awesome! The carpet in the room turned our feet black. The word "NO" was carved in LARGE LETTERS into the headboard along with other knife stabbings, and the repaired hole in the wall still needs to be painted over. Looked like there may have been a physical assault in the room. HOWEVER, the beds were comfy and pillows/sheets smelled fresh. Water pressure was good. :) No battery cover on the TV remote, dirty tables w/sticky glass rings, dusty, torn sheers/curtains, but the A/C worked great. Overall, the room should have been sanitized but it wasn't, the staff should use CLEAN rags when cleaning each room, I shouldn't have to sanitize things. I came down with the flu the next evening...4 days of yuck. :(
Furniture was in bad condition. Toilet would not flush. Called for maintenance to fix toilet, staff showed up and handed us a plunger.
Close to the freeway, in an industrial area. We had reservations and though we were the only group at that moment (4 of us), check in was a bit chaotic. One of the rooms was not yet cleaned, so my friend was put into another room. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though showing signs of age and wear.
Normally I only leave reviews when something is exceptional, but after this visit I wished I had known more about this hotel. My husband and I were traveling for work. Our experience was not good. At check in, my card was charged for our full stay plus $100 deposit. Not a hold on my card, but an actual charge. I'm still waiting to be reimbursed. I had made the reservation directly through their website, but upon arrival the amount they said I owed did not match my email confirmation. It was less than $10 difference, but they had no explanation. Thermostat in bedroom didn't work. Bathroom was dirty, hair and debris in corners of floor. Sink did not drain. Not all the jets in the tub worked. Remote would not turn on the TV in living room, only would change channels/volume. Vending machines were empty and/or did not work. Dryer was out of order. Every day we had to get new keys, would not work when we returned to our room. Pillows were very small and mattress was not comfortable. Staff was polite but not very helpful in addressing these issues. I would not recommend this hotel.
Big time disappointed. Overheard upon check in, that the pool was closed. No notice, nothing online saying it's out of order. Specifically booked this one because it had a pool and free breakfast. Breakfast was decent but they ran out of stuff and 2 of the days didn't have someone working in the area to keep it stocked and cleaned. After checking in and lugging a bunch of stuff to our room, we get in the room and it wasn't cleaned! Garbage can on the desk. Bedding bunched up. After no apology about the pool. And says the room number out loud for others in line to hear....I was not happy. We had to lug everything to the front desk to get a new room. My husband was using the bathroom by the breakfast room and an employee overrode the lock and walked in on him. And after breakfast the day, we get back and our room keys weren't working. My husband runs down and gets new ones, and they also didn't work! The new, cleaner room still had hand prints on the long mirror and had white stuff on the door handle. I still wiped stuff down cuz it still felt dirty.
While the room was clean upon arrival. We discovered our heater and thermostat were not working properly. The heater would not shut off or turn down. It was blasting at 24C. We had to unplug the heater to be comfortable. We tried to turn the thermostat down and it kept resetting itself. It also would not stay on Celsius it kept switching back to Fahrenheit. We let the front desk know, and all he did was try what we had done and then said he would call maintenance but as it was the weekend they probably wouldn't come until Monday. We then discovered that the continental breakfast we also sub-par. The eggs were awful, dried out, and the sausages were not good either. The selection of slightly stale breads/bagels was also disappointing. It was over-all a very disappointing stay. We tried to make another complaint about the heater on checkout and the desk clerk did not care. As our stay was pre-paid, I don't think they had any concerns about giving us a discount for the heater issue and did not care our stay had been sub-par.
My girlfriend and I stayed here during our anniversary - it was thought to be perfect but found several cons, amongst them being: - Hot tub in rooms don't get cleaned - There was a hole in the carpeting - Lights flickered - IN our suite the bedroom HVAC did not work - Outdated TVs (no chromecasting at all but decent channel lineup) - The WORST con we had was around 940 or so in the morning my guest card and my girlfriend's card locked us out of our room but we also found out this was repeated with SEVERAL other guests - Breakfast was meh but barely stocked up Pros: - Great location right off of 28th and US-131 freeway access to downtown - Price was okay for what I thought it was going to be - Hot tub was nice to relax in I only recommend this to anyone who is aware of the cons until they either restaff and remodel or fix their current situation.
We were traveling for business. The room was clean. The bed was a little too firm for my liking but they offered a soft pillow which helped. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn't too good.. The egg patties were like chewing rubber and the biscuits were hard and crumbled into pieces. We went out for breakfast the second morning. It was quiet and clean. The fitness room equipment worked well and the pool area looked warm and inviting. Not too bad for business travel.
The room was incredibly filthy. There was bad odor throughout the hotel. There were stains all over the linen and the lamp shades. The floor looked like it was never cleaned. They falsely charged me for a smoking fee and kept my deposit. I did not smoke in the room. They are refusing to give me a refund. They stole 350$ from me.
Convenient location to the highway. So close to shopping and some very good restaurants. The property was very clean. You can get to Downtown Grand Rapids rather quickly without actually staying Downtown.
If you are in the market for a clean, fast, friendly hotel, I highly recommend Best Western Inn and Suits. I will stay here and will stay at Best Westerns for future travels. I rate this 5 out of 5 starts due to the friendly staff.
The stay was very short and beneficial. The front desk host was professional and accommodating. The rooms were decorated nicely and very clean. The breakfast had many options and the food was fresh and tasty A very positive experience.
I visited from Traverse City. One of my first times booking a kings suite and I got it upgraded. It was a great start to my trip. The internet and breakfast was great and well as a varaity of near by restaurants for late meals.
Nice place! The free breakfast is an *actual* breakfast, with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and even make-your-own waffle bar (the waffles are really good). For the rooms, some people might find the mattresses a bit too firm, but I liked them. Really nice fluffy feather pillows that could be squished down or puffed up. Everything was very clean and the TV has DirecTV. Wifi was quite speedy.
This was a great hotel for our short stopover in Grand Rapids. Easy fire check in, clean rooms, lots of parking, and breakfast was fresh and yummy with good options. Easy to to restaurants and sights.
The amenities were fine and so was the service, but the cleanliness was almost nonexistent. Found a hair on the towels, found a rogue blue washcloth in the shower that was clearly not from the hotel, and what looked to be a literal turd behind the bed. Absolutely mortified.
I had to book a quick stay in Grand Rapids for a last minute business trip and unfortunately all rooms in downtown were couple of hundred dollars so decided to stay at Best Western and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel looks like it has been renovated or under renovation and was 5 mins away from downtown.
I agree with the people who say the facility isn't much to look at. (But neither is Grand Rapids, believe me.) However, this is one of.those places where the staff make up for the lackluster building. We reported a couple of damaged furniture pieces one day (just to avoid a charge for the damage, really), and by gosh the manager showed up the very next day and replaced all of them. The breakfast is a full breakfast and is included in the nightly charge -- that's very nice, and is becoming much rarer in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic. Very good-tasting, too. The pool was pretty and the exercise facility, though very minimal, was clean and warm. Hey, all former guests: cut this place some slack in your reviews, will ya? They're doing a good job given what they have to work with.
Not all that great...... much better places you can stay for same price or less price per night, but nicer. Would recommend elsewhere. There was used shampoo and conditioner in the room even. Very gross.
We needed a place to stay, close to the hospital for an early lab. This was close, and the only one that had a whirlpool. The staff was very friendly upon arrival. Our room was clean, lights and appliances worked. The bathroom had cute little toilet paper roses, which were a nice touch. Popped a movie on, sat in the whirlpool, and the faucet handles came off the plumbing. But... we popped them back on, and that was the "worst" of our experiences. The next morning the staff was so friendly and offered suggestions for breakfast. There was a nice looking selection for breakfast, I was bummed I was fasting and couldn't have any of it! I would definitely come to this hotel again though.
We chose to stay at this location since it was less than 5 minutes away from downtown and also half of the price. It is well kept and looks like they are refreshing things in the hotel. Had all the basic amenities and internet was good. TV's in room were small but they did mention they are replacing them when we were checking out. All in all good stay no real issues, could be jammed if showing up right at check in time.
Wake up call never came. One of the coffee cups in the room was dirty and clearly used for coffee already. Just gross. Understaffed, no one working at the desk when I left in the morning, so no one to report the problems to.
We stayed for two nights and were definitely not impressed. Decent bed at least. Poorly maintained and cleaned. The bathroom door didn't close. The shower leaked. Poop stain on the bathroom door. We put out the please clean card on the doorknob after the first night. Wash cloths not replaced so I had to ask for more. Coffee not replaced so I had to go down to the lobby. Wifi strong but had to sign in multiple times each day. Biscuits and gravy with cool not hot gravy. Will not return.
Upon walking in the motel you could smell nothing but urine and marijuana. Little kids running around screaming and no adult supervision. Rooms were very dirty. The air didn't work. And I found dead cockroaches by the bed. Sheets didn't look like they had been washed in a bit. Because our rooms weren't ready at check in time at 3 and still by 6:15 no rooms. and they were not together like promised I asked what they were doing about it. I was told I would just have to wait until our room was ready. I said that was unacceptable and I was asked to leave. I was not given a refund of any kind. Was told I wouldn't get one. And they asked me to leave. The manager is a very unpleasant unprofessional person and she should be fired. I would not want someone like her working for me. So I give you guys 10 thumbs down. I hope the health department shuts you down. Shame on you.
Our visit didn't start out on a good note. Back in April, when our son decided on this hotel as the one to hold rooms for his wedding, we placed a hold on the conference room to hold the rehearsal dinner. Something kept telling me to call BW to confirm the room. I called before we left on Thursday morning and much to MY SURPRISE the hotel was under new management and the conference room was being used for storage. Let me say NO ONE CALLED ME TO TELL ME WE COULDNT USE THIS ROOM. Now after a very frustrating conversation Marcia figured out a solution and it worked out perfect. Probably better then the conference room. Thank you Marcia! Now onto the room…. We had a suite, thinking this would be helpful with the wedding party and all. Under the amenities it stated there was a coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator. There was a full size refrigerator and that was all. It looked like they had recently removed the microwave because there was still “dirt” on the floor and rug by that area and sink. There was water coming from under the refrigerator, I ended up jut leaving a towel there. The remote for the tv was falling apart, and there was only one. (We had a bedroom, so two TVs). There were no lampshades on the lamps, the water pressure in the bathroom, especially the shower was terrible!! In order to turn on the shower the faucet almost came out of the wall to get it to come on. I know there are renovations being done, but they clearly hadn't vacuumed our room before arrival. We were allowed to check in early, but these are normal cleaning tasks. On a positive note, the front desk staff was very friendly, helpful and apologetic. I know back in April when the kids picked this hotel, it had four star reviews. Those reviews have gone down since then. I'm pretty sure we had a large majority of the rooms for Thursday and Friday night. Im embarrassed if their rooms were like ours…. We wouldn't stay at this location again. But will continue to stay at other BWs.
Room smelled like urine, garbage under chair and behind nightstand, room was unclean and unvacuumed, missing remote control. The overall room was outdated but would have been OK if it was cleaned. Spacious room.
Hotel is clean and room was very clean. I stayed here 5 years ago and had the same experience. Only difference is 5 years ago beds were new...the bed this time was starting to slope towards the middle. But the room had a fridge w/ freezer that worked great & a microwave
We were driving the whole day and finally decided at about 8 pm to find a room for the night, without using any booking platform. Best Western was so welcoming and organized a room quickly so that we could rest for the night. The room was spacious and so comfortable. We had a car so we were able to easily find places to eat nearby that suited our needs. This hotel is just off a highway so easy to find and travel from. The free breakfast was delicious in a clean, dedicated space within the hotel lobby. Although only simple fare like cereal, pastries, coffee and juice etc, it suited us perfectly and allowed us to get onto the road quickly, since we had another long day ahead. We looked at other hotels near to this one, but Best Western's building, parking lot and surrounds looked clean, organised and safer than other hotels in the immediate area which might have been cheaper.
When I stay at a hotel, I look for things that others probably don't. This hotel is very clean, which is very important to me. The room was very clean and didn't smell musty. It is a smoke/vape free hotel so we didn't smell that either. The bed was so very comfortable and smelled clean and fresh. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was nice. The TV offered a good amount of channels to choose from. The refrigerator had a small freezer as well. The room felt very safe with the location and surroundings businesses. The breakfast had so many options to choose from. Close to restaurants and shopping. I recommend this hotel to anyone that is either planning a trip to this area or passing through. It is nice, comfortable and inviting.
The elevator was out of order and I was on the 4th floor. Luckily, I didn't have much luggage. The pool was out of order. We saw a roach in the bathroom and a better job was needed with vacuuming the room prior to our stay.
Dirty!!! This hotel is not in the best location and was filthy. The hotel was dirty with water leak stains in the ceiling. The couch had water stains and some kind of other stains to where you couldn't sit on it. The floor needed to be vaccummed and have stains all over it like paint or bodily fluid. No one tells you that this isn't a great location in not the best area. Drive 5-10 miles east for a better location
Very unhappy with the price, room wasn't very clean couldn't get it at check in which made getting to wedding on time difficult even though I requested early check in. Cleaning staff seemed to be chatting more then cleaning and rude to visitors.way to expensive.
We chose this hotel because it had a pool. Pool was out of order. Hotel is under staffed and room wasn't ready at check in time. When they sent us up to the room, the staff was still vacuuming. The room had no air circulation and smelled like smoke despite it being a nonsmoking room. The air conditioning was broken which made the smell worse and the room stuffy. We tried to run the AC and it just made loud noises all night. Beds were hard and sheets were old. Neither of the two TVs worked. The neighbor is not desirable. It was way too expensive for the poor quality. We complained about the broken TVs and AC but they seem to know and don't care. Stay away!
Check in was easy, Although they could have used another person to check in as is was getting busy, but the room was clean, bed was comfortable and penty of hot water for a great shower. Easy to find location and plenty of parking.
Booked for 2 nights. Took 4 tries at a room that either didn't smell terrible or didn't have people already in them. The fire alarm went off at 4am. Pool was unavailable. Such a terrible experience that we canceled our 2nd night booked at another hotel.
The price of the hotel was nice. It wasn't in downtown, but wasn't terribly far, so location was decent. The room was good size and seemed clean. I didn't go down to the breakfast area, but from what my husband said it sounded fine, as expected. The pool was closed for maintenance or something, so that was disappointing.
It was very clean and quite. The workers were all helpful and nice. I was able to call a reserve and room and even pay for it within 20 mins and was checked in before 3 pm which was very helpful in preparing me for my meeting
Bedding is very stained even the new sets we requested fearing the first sets hadn't been changed. Couch was very worn with holes, piling and stains. There was still food and scum on it from the previous people. The pictures and entertainment stand had white stuff all over it like a child had eaten powdered donuts and run unsupervised. Dressers covered in thick dust. Foul odor like rotten fish mixed with marijuana. Nothing was actually clean or felt clean outside of the bathroom. When I spoke with the front desk they provided sheets to cover the furniture and cleaning supplies so I could clean with air freshener. I took pictures and showed them, they agreed it was gross but would not switch our room or provide any discount. On the phone we confirmed the pool was in working order only to arrive and find it was closed. The warmer has uncooked previously frozen sandwiches wrapped in foil for breakfast. You must stand in line and microwave them. Not our best hotel stay. We won't stay here again. EVER
Have stayed at this location many times. Previous times have never had an issue. Last visit, I was given a room that had not been cleaned or sanitized. The front desk staff then became passive aggressive when I informed her. I didn't even receive any kind of apology at the least for the issue.
We showed up up 12:00am to get into our room and we were put in a room. My husband and I walked upstairs into our suite and opened the door to the bedroom to find 2 people sleeping in the bed! I immediately went back downstairs and told them there were people in our beds. She apologized and said that it was open on her end but someone didn't put it in the system. We were then moved to another room and went upstairs to the new room. Walked in to notice 2 queen beds, when we had booked a king bed. We went back downstairs to tell her that we had booked a king and got a queen. She told us that they sold out of kings; I asked even though we had booked it weeks ago and her response was when we book it online, we should call because they don't always update their inventory online- so essentially it was our fault. We took the queen beds and went back upstairs. We got into the bedroom and the curtains were open. There was a bright light pointing right into our window and the curtains would not close. We then woke up in the morning and went to breakfast. I took my stuff outside to my car while my husband went and got breakfast. When I came back in, the door to let me into the hotel would not slide back open. I had to call my husband to come and let me back in. All in all, would never ever come back to this hotel again! ALWAYS LOCK YOUR DOORS AT NIGHT!!!
Nice suite w/ hot breakfast, lobby & cat5 internet. Only wish they had fixed tv problems sooner than the 2nd day when I was leaving, and did Not have to wait 2 hours for soap to do laundry (out of town 3+ weeks)
Not recommended, it's sort of a motel experience the sheets were filthy and stained. Like how does housekeeping miss that? Super gross and not recommended also the towels were worn out they also charge 190$ for the room and this is the experience I get Never again
Very happy with this hotel. Room was immaculate, mattress very comfortable, linens all very nice. Quiet... which is what I was looking for. The surrounding area was kind of sketchy, but it did not detract from the hotel amenities. I went in/out from my car without issue.
Advertised as a nice hotel. We were appalled at the cliental, the stink of marijuana, and the presence of prostitutes, strippers and drug users. Not the family friendly and clean hotel we were looking for our soccer club to stay at ... Would not recommend. Staff did not care nor did they even attempt to stop the partying or quiet the loud guests or prevent them from partying.
The mattress cover was torn; I woke with spider bites. Nearly all the milk at breakfast expired two weeks earlier. The hairdryer was covered in someone else's makeup. Hallways stayed littered with trash and towels because housekeeping didn't pick up.
Being the first time traveling since the COVID pandemic W e were not aware that there was no longer housekeeping.. what a surprise to come back to after a day out to find no clean towels not soap replacement etc. when we asked at the front desk for clean towels we were given one bath towel and told that there were no other towels available because no wash had been done. It was also reported to the front desk that the smoke detector in our rooms battery cover have been opened and the battery removed The response from the front desk was there was no handyman available to address this issue this in my opinion is a very big safety issue. The remote to the TV was not working when this was reported we were handed a set of batteries which unfortunately was not the issue Two days later we stayed at a Holiday Inn where upon check-in we were handed our key cards with a description saying that they do not do housekeeping unless requested may be best western Should do something similar
Front desk are dry and very rude.. The rooms are old and dirty the pools are closed... Outdated hotel needs lots of updates..... musty nasty smell everywhere. I can do on just go some place else.. When I checked in they did not have anyone at the front desk I had to actually call for somebody to come out to the front test to check us in... He acted like we are bothering him... I proceeded to go to the room I needed extra pillows I needed extra pillows and extra blanket for the pullout couch where the pullout couch which by the way was disgustingly dirty I had to stinky dirty I had to go and get lysol from the shore to spray everything from the store to spray everything down..... So I tried to call the Front desk No one answered I called again still no answer I went downstairs to get some pillows and a blanket for the pullout couch no 1 was at the front desk again II proceeded to call the number the same guy comes out and acted like I'm bothering him I said I would like to get some pillows and a blanket for the pullout couch.... He just turns around and Walked in the back he comes out with only blankets and he proceeded to blankets and he proceeded to call me no pillow here you go sir... He just hands me the blanket and walks back in the door dad walks back in the door I was just stunned I was just stunned I grabbed the blanket walked upstairs did not come locked upstairs did not complain because I know it was gonna go South I do not like it was gonna go South I do not like confrontation or drama or drama I'm on vacation.... the beds where uncomfortable... just go some place else
I was happily surprised by the hotel staff, including housekeepers and janitors who were very helpful in answering questions. I was also impressed with the terrific job they did in keeping our room clean and fresh with towels and bed making. The room was pleasant, the air conditioner worked very well, the water pressure for the shower was great. There is a microwave, and mini refrigerator in the room, clean and working well. The Hotel is close to restaurants and gas stations as well. I would gladly state here again.
Not in a very nice area. Couldn't get pillows for my kids on the pull out sofa. Had to go to the front desk to get a shower curtain. Smelled like a marijuana factory. Overall not a good experience. Find somewhere else to stay
Booked here because reviews were decent. Three adults, reserved king bed and sofa bed. Sofa bed had no blankets or pillows so called front desk and was told to come and pick up. We did and realized blankets on bed were very thin and frayed. I wouldn't even consider these blankets, more like thick bedsheets. I went to front desk to request 2 more blankets. Was told we could get one blanket but the other one was in the wash. WHAT?!! I asked how it was possible that a hotel with at least 100 rooms at 15% occupancy that evening (was told that at checkin) only had 1 extra blanket in the entire hotel! Was told front desk only had a couple extra blankets and house keeping was gone for the day at 4:00pm and I could come back for the second blanket. I went back later to pick up. Also we only had 2 bath towels. Didn't bother going back to request another after the ridiculous blanket situation.
Lots of freeway and parking lot noise on one side of the room, and lots of banging and hallway noise on the other. We travelled with family and no one in any of the rooms got any sleep. Just awful. Stay here only if you can sleep through a hurricane.
The price is way too high for what this hotel is. The pics look great, but you get there and no pool, no hot tub, no breakfast, room has disgusting couch that clearly was not cleaned, no batteries in remotes, barely any lighting, no counter space in the bathroom, stinks of smoke even though it's a no smoking facility, bums approaching vehicle in parking lot, fridge not working, I could go on and on!
My room was dirty. People were smoking cigarettes and pot in the stairwell next to my room at all times of the night. Bums loitering outside of the hotel asking for money. Not sure what else to say other than don't waste your money staying here lol.
Very clean, spacious, loved the bedroom off by it self. Loved the two person heart shaped jacuzzi...The only complaint that i had was the phone did not work to call down to the front desk. Was not noise for being on the weekend either.
We enjoyed staying at the Beat Western Hotel a lot. We slept comfortably. The warm shower was so relaxing. The hotel is clean and in a convenient location. We hope that next time you guys offered a healthy breakfast.
This was a great, clean budget friendly place to stay. Outside of downtown but easy enough to get to. Also plenty of places to eat nearby. Other hotels in the area looked a little run down compared to here. Our room had a couch, fridge and microwave. Breakfast was simply a muffin in a bag, perhaps a piece of fruit and water would be nice.
We stayed in a jacuzzi suite. The room was clean, smell-free and quiet. The mattress was hard as a rock and we tossed and turned all night. Front desk staff was friendly but the cleaning staff on Sunday morning was not so great. Walked by them to go to the front desk. Cleaning staff was swearing loud enough to hear and only 1 had a mask on. With the carts on the hallway there was little room for social distancing. The cleaning staff almost made me feel bad for "invading" their space and their conversation. Other than the cleaning staff, I would recommend this hotel.
My family and I stay at this B.W. hotel very often, the staff are usually always very kind but in my opinion that is only when casey is working. The morning check out staff are rude more often then they are nice. But night staff i have never had a complaint about.
This hotel is nasty. The front desk and the housekeepers are very nasty and rude. There was a lot of hanging out in the parking lot with drinking and smoking. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my dog.
I booked a room to enjoy a nice weekend in the Grand Rapids area. Upon getting to the room I found it disgusting. It smells like someone smoked two packs of cigarettes in the room 10 minutes before I got there. There was junk behind the nightstands that hadn't been cleaned and a brown stain in the bed. I asked for a different room that was non smoking (like I booked) and they did not have any. I asked for a refund to go elsewhere and they stated they can't do that until a manager comes in the next day. I asked for the manager to contact me and left. I have yet to hear back from them. I called corporate and they told me they couldn't help. Worst hotel I've visit.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept up nice and the breakfast attendant is awesome. My training was canceled a day before check out and I had no issues not staying my full 19 days. The hotel is in a good location if you need to be downtown and Patterson Ave.
Clean hotel, good breakfast, great location and helpful, nice front desk staff. I stay there a couple times a year. I just stayed there Saturday night and this is the second time in a row that we were granted a late check out but the phone rang at 11 and housekeeping staff knocked on our door right after that. When I answered the door and explained that we had a late check out, they were not happy about it. It doesn't seem that the late check out is being communicated to the appropriate staff.
My room was on the first floor just down the hall from the front desk, kids running around and parents yelling at 1am.. not impressed. Management did nothing. Issues with internet in the room (wired) multiple complaints but never fixed. Other than that, place was clean and employees were friendly
My husband and I stayed here the night of a Griffins game. It's right off the highway and about a 15 minute drive to the rink. Only "issues" we had with the place was waiting a very long time to check-in while we could hear staff conversing in the office, the hallway and stairwell smelled like pot, and there is a pool, but no hot tub. The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included and offered waffles, eggs, ham, biscuits with gravy, cereal, etc. We would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were clean and hotel was safe. Bed was firm with lots of pollows for a good nights sleep. Free breakfast and fresh cookies/fruit a big plus. Check in guy was really helpful and polite. Only issue was getting the shower water temperature correct.
I decided to stay at the Best Western because it was close to where I needed to go. This was my second time staying there and both times I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly, courteous and attentive. Hood job Best Western.
We checked in and within minutes in our room a loud chirp kept happening. We thought it was the smoke alarm battery so called the front desk. Very quickly the guy at the front desk came to change the battery. He left and the chirp kept happening. So we called again and he was right there. We became known as the fire alarm room. The problem was fixed promptly and friendly. There was a sticky spot on the rug we never reported and some salt type substance on this couch. We paid for 2 nights but checked out after 1 night because bad weather was coming . I wish we had not prepaid the room since we lost money on the second night. But other than that good experience.
How can a hotel not have a proper bathroom fan?? Unbelievable. It only has the thing where the air goes out of. No fan, so when my son had to go Nr.2... guess what.. :) yes it's funny but not something I would want to stay at again. Breakfast was also a letdown. We love our waffles, both days empty. Nice they have a pool, but super small and not kid friendly. I have stayed at cheaper hotels that had way better pool and hot tub. I like that the room had carpet all the way. And no extra blankets in the room either, which was a letdown.
I stayed here for a few nights for a business trip and it was terrific. It was only about a 10 minute drive to downtown Grand Rapids and was a terrific hotel. It is well kept and cared for, and the staff was outstanding. They went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. I highly recommend this place.
I frequent the area for medical business & to sum it up; the price: AFFORDABLE. the room: SPOTLESS. The amenities: Exceptional. the staff: INCOMPARABLE. The first impression when you enter the building is a warm welcome from a very friendly, knowledgeable, & accommodating staff. Casey is a fantastic manager & when there was a blip in the reservation he was quick to make sure that I was happy & comfortable. If it weren't for Casey & Kari being such wonderful employees that made it evident that customer satisfaction i of utmost importance. These 2 staff members are the sole reason I will continue to keep coming back to this facility. Best Western is lucky to have such a dedicated front desk staff. Thank you for all of your hard work!
If you need a budget hotel with a nice staff this is your place. If you like your hotel to be clean, than I would consider going elsewhere. Our first room was dirty with trash between the bed and night stand, something on the toilet, and the couch had glittle and white stuff on it. We checked into a second room and that was a bit better but still not up to my standards. The management was kind as was the front desk.
Our son has autism and severe epilepsy this place is calm and easier to access has a pool for sensory and the lighting isn't super bright. And they have some foods for breakfast that my son can eat that are seizure diet friendly.
Stayed here for a work trip and the only reason I booked it is because both the Best Western website AND Expedia showed it had a hot tub. Got to the hotel and guess what? NO HOT TUB!!! Apparently some major malfunction and they chose not to get it fixed. It is now decked over with table and chairs on top. I was beyond ticked. Other than that it is a nice hotel - the staff was five star courteous and rooms were very comfortable. Do your diligence and when you find a hotel with a hot tub, call and make sure it's there and is working!
This hotel has a great location for anything Grand Rapids related. It's around the corner from the 28th St exit on 131. The desk and breakfast staff are extremely friendly. Breakfast was very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable. This is everything you could ask for in a hotel.
One of the best stays I've had in many years. Front desk was very helpful and upbeat. Rooms were very clean. Location was great, only a very short trip to get to the venue. I will definitely make this particular establishment my go to stop when in the area again. Best Western will also be my first choice for any other upcoming trips.
This Best Western is conveniently located to visit family. It is clean. The staff is friendly and efficient. We have enjoyed multiple stays at this location and it has been consistently very clean, maintained, and comfortable.
We came to this area for the Puerto Rican festival, around 1:30 a.m front desk knocked on the room door threatening to toss us out for being too loud. So me and my wife left the another family members room we were visiting and walked into the hallway. You could hear the white guest in there rooms yelling , laughing screaming and partying. Me and my wife are recorded the whole second floor about 6 rooms were very loud. There were even people running from room with party voices. This a great place to stay .....if you white.
We checked in on a Thursday night and there was a fellow working the front desk who seemed as though he doesn't like to work so he called a young woman up from the office room to check us in. She barely acknowledged our presence and did a terrible job checking us in. I would've given the hotel a 1 rating but for my experience the next morning with Tannis the fellow working at the front desk. He was cheerful and helpful! Thank you, Tannis for making up for your fellow employees who don't take their job seriously.
We were quite satisfied with our stay. Especially impressed with the suite style layout with separated bedroom. Typical breakfast stocked well. No problems. Short, cheap Uber ride to our downtown convention. Value is exceptional for this place. Our only complaint is A/C vent blows directly on the bed without any way of redirecting air flow. Our sleep experience, thus, wasn't as good as it should have been. Bed was comfy with plenty of nice soft pillows. Hot tub was covered over.
The manager Casey was awesome!! He made sure our group was taken care of during our entire stay. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would definately stay here again, especially for the price. We were driving daily to Holland for a softball tournament and we always had plenty of breakfast when we left, clean rooms stocked with clean towels when we came back, and plenty of towels at the pool for the kids. We would definitely stay here again:)
I forgot an article of clothing in my room and when I called back later that day, it was gone. The hotel staff never found it. We were also told there would be "to go" bags for breakfast for people who needed to leave before the continental breakfast was ready and there were not.
We were greeted by a very friendly young man when we walked in who made sure we had everything we needed! The room was spacious & clean, the bed was comfortable. The decor was up to date also.I highly recommend this hotel!
Clean rooms and nice staff and close to downtown Grand Rapids makes this a good place to stay. Reasonable rate makes it worthwhile. Easy check in and check out. Negative...if you want to work out, fitness are is very limited.
Very nice facility. The value for the room was excellent. Close to downtown. The lobby and all areas were very clean. The room was fantastic, great bed and comfortable. I would highly recommend this best western.
The location was good for us because we had family events scheduled both north and south of Grand Rapids. The hotel is clean and comfortable with fairly spacious rooms and good staff. Breakfast is good, but nothing special.
Well, getting an early check-in certainly helps on a good review, but even with that, the entire stay was very good. Third time staying here in the past 3 years and the hotel looks great. The entire staff is friendly, always with a smile, and the front desk obviously did an excellent job in getting us in early from our early morning flight. Housekeeping was great, the renovations done in the past year or so make the hotel look new. We like the location, just down from Plaster Creek for great walks. Thanks again!
Clean pleasantly decorated property. Rooms are a good size and beds are comfortable. Be careful when checking breakfast times as cards in room show ending as 9.30 not 9am as advised by receptionist. Breakfast options okay but not extensive. Would use again.
The location may be nondescript, but this facility is conveniently located. A short ride to downtown attractions, close to the expressway, but no so close that noise is an issue. The rooms and hallways are beautifully decorated. Bed comfortable. Large in-room refrigerator.
The property itself is acceptable for its type and the place it´s in. However, management needs to do better. Reservations were poorly handled, a special request for a tax-exempt card was not honored, even though verbal acceptance had been made. The person at the desk during check-out had no idea what was going on. Breakfast was terrible: the dining room did not open on time, the milk was spoiled, there was no coffee. Someone is not paying attention to their job.
We have stayed on this property multiple times. It's my go-to when we need to be in the Grand Rapids area. The hotel is clean and affordable. The wifi works well and breakfast is included with the stay.
Stayed for Metallica concert, 4th flr ws an inconvenience for a smoker but my fault for not requesting otherwise. Located 4 miles from venue and close to hwy. It took a minute to get in for a late check in but very understandable being an auditor myself, and for security reasons.
Because of the rewards system, I always choose Best Westerns whenever possible. This was the first time staying at this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The staff member that checked us in was very friendly and went above and beyond. Thank you for a great stay!
Its hard to make my wife happy staying in hotels, as she has worked in them for years. This is the 2nd one we have stayed at, and it was really nice. The only complaint is there is no exhaust fan in rooms, so when u shower it gets pretty steamy and nowhere for it to go. Except out in the room. They had a free breakfast, it was pretty good as far as their offerings. Waffles, fresh fruits. Cereal rolls, ECT. Will continue to patronize this chain
Had a feeling things were going to get bad. Booked for two nights with speed and had a warm comfortable stay during the ice storm and power outage. Had a good breakfast, got in a workout. Had a room with the heart shaped whirlpool. Fun to swim in!
We needed a hotel that was within a budget and in a convenient location. I read the reviews and almost all were positive so I took a chance. I was very surprise. The place was better than most reviews. Friendly staff right thru the door. Then came a spotless well maintained room. In the morning the cleaning crew and front desk again was friendly and helpful. All this on a budget, I highly recommend this hotel...great local so great for business travelers.
Hotel seems to be renovated recently everything looked fairly new in the rooms. Only thing I noticed during my stay was that there was work being done to the pool area and seemed like they were removing the hot tub. Overall the hotel was fantastic for the price I paid since it was only 5 minutes away from downtown at half the price.
The staff of this hotel go above and beyond. They were very friendly and welcoming, everyone from the reception, housekeeping, and breakfast employee were outstanding. The hotel was clean and priced fairly for the area.
It was refreshing having a hotel be concerned for us when they thought we hadn't arrived on time! My youth group, leaders and my wife were impressed with the entire stay. We had a front desk attendant that accommodated our big group for multiple needs. Well done! If we stay in Grand Rapids next year we will be staying here again!
The hotel and staff was very welcoming and clean, breakfast was great and its located close to downtown venues which is a short uber ride. Many local restaurants deliver right to the hotel even late at night.
Price: Cdn$140 Cleanliness: very good Quietness: very good Comfort: very good Location: a bit south of the centre Transport: need a car Friendliness: very good Breakfast: ok Classiness: basic Room Size: very good Room included: everything expected Wifi: yes Facilities included: pool Nice touch: hot drink in reception
Front desk was very polite and gave us a 10% discount on king suite. Room needed airing out and it was cool outside so we opened the window. Breakfast was good, clean and the help was very nice. My only complaint was the front entrance is where everyone gather to smoke, the first floor smelled like smoke.
Not fancy, but very reasonable, convenient to Grand Rapids, clean, and provided what's needed. Free breakfast included. The front desk staff was chearful and helpful. If not looking for an upscale hotel, this is quite pleasant.
We found the front desk folks to be very nice. The room was clean, however, when we returned for our second night, housekeeping had taken the dirty towels yet not left any clean replacements. The shower head is nice and high. When you're tall, it's no fun to have to bend over to get your hair under the shower head. My biggest beef is with the lighting in the rooms. It is really awful. There are no lamps bright enough to read a magazine, a book or a newspaper. The desk light is not even very bright. And the lighting in the bathroom is abysmal. There is no way that a women who has ever wanted to wear makeup selected the bathroom lighting. I had to put a small mirror on the windowsill and sit on the floor to get anything approximating natural light so I wouldn't look like Coco the clown. The bed was okay but felt like the mattress was due for a replacement. The rate was decent - unlike many other hotels who jack up their rates during Art Prize. We did not eat the breakfast so I cannot provide any feedback on that. I'd give it a C.
Stayed August 19-22. Room was immaculate! Everything worked, fridge, microwave, a/c. Good water pressure in bathroom/shower. Pool area was clean and opened 8A-11P. Good variety for breakfast (6A-9:30A), cold cereal, hot instant cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, sweet rolls, fruit, eggs (type of eggs vary daily, hard boiled eggs available in fridge by the yogurt), breakfast meat (type of meat varies daily), and waffles. There is a 24 hour Super Walmart a few miles down the street. Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Haven areas just a 30-40 minute drive. Staff is very friendly. Would definitely stay again!!
Stayed here one night on our way thru to Grand Rapids and the Gerald Ford museum. Great hotel. Really clean. Easy check in and out. Hot breakfast items. Comfy beds, quiet room. The ladies at the desk were friendly. All in all a great stay.
Great hotel for commuting in and out of downtown GR only about a 5 minute drive. Stayed here for work and had no major issues. Upon check out breakfast was not ready since it was 5am, was happily surprised with a to-go breakfast bag.
Stayed here on a business trip one night last week. Went to the pool / hot tub area to relax after a hot day at work, air in pool room was hot and humid, air was saturated with chlorine to the point that my eyes stung and I left after a short time. Normally, hotels that offer breakfast have some sort of meat product, but the only thing they had was tiny bits of what appeared to be bacon mixed in with the scrambled eggs. I have stayed here in the past, but in the future I will try one of the other hotels nearby. Internet was not working in the morning, maintenance man said it was because it was cloudy.
We were in town for several days and wanted a place near the airport that was reasonably priced and included breakfast. What we did not realize we were also getting with this location was fabulous customer service and a very professional and welcoming staff. Thank Darrick and team for making our stay so pleasant.
We had a king suite and it was great! The sofa and tv in the sitting room was nice and the room was very spacious. The TV and microwave was a great convenience to have. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was good. The juice was out by the time I came down but it wasn't a big deal. Definitely recommended this place!
room was ,nice...front desk woman at check in on Friday night was great...the Saturday morning check out woman was rather rude...no thank you for staying or come again...said nothing...plus she was not dressed very professional...she was showing a large amount of cleavage and there were many young people, especially boys, around that morning
We were in town for a wedding and the hotel pricing was great and within 20 minutes of the church and reception, nice area, hotel was nice, room was clean and breakfast was good. Would recommend and stay here again.
My daughter and I stayed one night here recently on our annual wine weekend. Nice hotel, helpful front desk, nice sized room with a pretty comfy bed & pillows. Pool was nice but the water was a little chilly. We didn't use the hot tub because it was 90+ degrees outside. Breakfast ok, had to wait a bit for some items but overall satisfied. I would stay here again & to me, that's the bottom line.
We stayed here two nights and overall, the hotel itself is nice. But the beds are so uncomfortable. I didn't sleep well the whole time we were there. The breakfast bar is so so. The staff took forever to fill items out of stock.
My husband and I got tickets for a concert in Hudsonville for Thursday night. We had been in Shipshewana for the night before and we wanted to visit South Haven and Holland. We knew Hudsonville for in the general area. After leaving South Haven, we decided to check out the church location for the concert. Once we found it, we asked On-Star Navigation to locate the Best Western Executive Inn in Wyoming and found out it was only 9 miles away. We have stayed at this location before and it is so close to Holland, South Haven and right off 28th Avenue which is great shopping. The Hotel is so easy to find and we always enjoy our stay. We will definitely stop her again when we travel to this area.
Stayed here for a concert at 20 Monroe Live, and it was excellent! Super easy check in, comfortable bed, great WIFI, freezer & refrigerator, microwave, and very clean! Great breakfast with waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit, and many other items. Pool & hot tub looked inviting & clean, but we did not have an opportunity to use them. Easy access to hotel, and the concert was only about a 10 minute drive. Would not hesitate to stay at a Best Western in the future.
This hotel was an oasis of clean modern looking lodging in an area where many other hotels looked less than inviting. We were able to walk in without a reservation and get a room with no problem. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and the lobby was inviting. The room was spotless and the breakfast was good as well. Easy access from the local main highways.
Needed a room for me and a friend so we could drive up, stay the night and be ready to run the half marathon the next morning. Booked our stay way later than I'd wanted to, so instead of staying near the race start we had to stay about 3.5 miles away. However it was super easy access on and off the highway. The room was really nice. The staff was really nice. We didn't get a chance to try to breakfast since we had to head out for the race.
This BW was nice enough inside but the location was not great. I made reservations based on reviews since I have never traveled to the area before. Noisy outside with much construction next door and many trucks in and out of the industrial businesses. Rooms are fine but trouble with tv/remote caused a change in rooms and unnecessary stress and time in getting this resolved. May be good for business or just one night stays.
Clean comfortable room. The lobby are was very nice and inviting with a fireplace. We were there for just a short time. I know there was a pool area and fitness center, neither of which we were able to enjoy. Also had to skip on the breakfast. It looked like it was a good breakfast and a nice area to eat in though.
For the price, (I saved $15 by making a non-cancelable reservation), plus a free hot breakfast...I would certainly return. Check-out lady on Sunday morning (4/08) was very helpful in explaining BW rewards program. Room was clean and the bathroom was spotless. As clean a bathroom as I have ever witnessed. Old tOm
I loved having the bedroom separate from the rest of the room. I wanted to use my chromecast to have a better selection of television to watch but the wifi did not support it. More channels to watch would be nice.
I believe this property is new and I hope it is still shaking out it's problems. Check-in was fast and friendly. The halls were spotless, as were the rooms. Bed and pillows were good. The bathroom was a little small. In the morning, there was no hot water in the shower but plenty in the sink. After an invigorating shower, I went down to the counter to report the problem. I was promptly told, with no apology, that in some rooms the controls are on backwards........most gusts figure it out. A great ambassador for the chain! The second issue was at breakfast: it was pretty crowded but the food was not well-provisioned. There were no eggs in the server container and the bacon was translucent and hardly cooked.
Everything at this hotel was fine. Breakfast was limited, but was good. The pool had a lot of chlorine so it bothered our eyes and we couldn't stay in the area long. Otherwise, pretty quiet location for being there with a dance team.
I have now stayed here twice while my dad was in a nearby hospital. It is a short drive to downtown hospitals but far enough the prices are better. The entire place was clean, updates and all the staff was friendly. I did not attend breakfast only because I hate going down close to closing time but it looked to have a lot of variety. I will continue to book here as needed.
We booked an overnight stay at the Best Western Executive Inn and Suites. The room is very clean, staff are very polite and courteous. The free breakfast is not spectacular but it is still very decent overall. The only concern though was parking which in fairness it is not their fault since they were hit with a snow a storm. Overall the overnight stay was very pleasant.
My daughter made two attempts to go to Grand Rapids but due to the road conditions she decided it was not safe to attempt the drive. Upon returning home she called the hotel and spoke to Night manager to see if she could at least get a credit for another weekend. She was told NO because she missed the cut off time. Hard to call when you are trying to get back home safely. Highly disappointed. We will advise all friends and family not to stay at this hotel. Grand Rapids has plenty of more compassionate establishments. The hotel fee was nothing to Best Western but a lot of money to a young college student.
Nicole at Best Western always takes care of my family and I. She is friendly, organized, and personable. The breakfast is amazing, the rooms are clean, and smell nice. The location is perfect if you're going downtown.
There isn't much to do in Grand rapids to begin with, but we were in town for a concert and this location was priced right just outside of downtown. Rooms were clean, staff friendly, free parking and a quick $5-7 ride in taxi or rideshare will get you into downtown ($10 to get back).
The buildings immediately around the motel look run down, but the motel itself is new and excellent condition. It was a clean, nicely kept, quiet stay. Nicole at the front desk was amazing and all staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I thought it was a little over priced for the area/neighborhood. It was just a short drive to shopping and downtown.
This Best Western was very clean, new-looking, friendly, and had all the extras we had hoped for, including frig & microwave in room, an on-site fitness center and pool, delicious breakfast, beautiful lobby, helpful staff, etc.
Just not a good experience. The staff working there were fine, but the accommodations are way below expectations. The price of the hotel is reasonable for the area, but considering the poor repair of the accommodations, I would not stay again. Hot tub also was not operating.
Was pleased with the service but the fitness room needs upgrades. Lights did not come on when i came in and i coud not find a switch. The equipment is old. Should purchase some dumbbells. maybe from 5 lb to 40 lb
Great accommodations & service!! Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Nicole was sweet and amazing. She went above and beyond our expectations. She is definitely an asset to this hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and courteous. The hotel was very clean, one of the cleanest hotel rooms I've stayed in! I will look for a Best Western in whatever city I travel to next.
Our main interest in coming to Grand Rapids was to visit Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. It was about 10 miles, 15 minutes from this hotel. We also used it to see the Ford Presidential Library. Worked well for us, have enjoyed the recent Best Western upgrades and this hotel was no exception. $227 was a good price.
Excellent service, breakfast good, fitness center great!, swimming pool great!!, but the room very average the mattress was TERRIBLE, I FELT THE SPRINGS ON MY BACK, THEY NEED TO REPLACE IT IN ROOM 121, the volume of the tv is controlled up to 23, I have ear problems!!! I couldn't use the TV!!! the lights were blinking or flashing all the time. BAD OR TERRIBLE ROOM!!! do not stay in 121.
The hotel was exactly as advertised. The amenities were exactly as advertised. We chose this hotel because of its location (proximity to downtown) and the amenities (the pools) because we were in town for a family even on Saturday and wanted to make a mini-vacation out of the trip.
As a road warrior, we pack and move in and out of hotels up and down the highway. The staff went above and beyond to welcome me, the hotel had been remodeled and was very warm and cozy, extremely clean and quiet. I would stay here everytime I am in this area!!!
From reservation to check in to check out this was a super smooth process. The staff at the desk and the staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a hotel in the area.
The hotel was great. The value was superb. Breakfast and pool & hot tub were great. There is park right down the street which was nice. only bad thing is it's in a bit of an industrial area, and the lot across the street was just full of weeds.
Everything was great except for the slab of rock they give you to sleep on and the cold hot tub. Based on the quality of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel I would have given this a much higher rating, but we were there to relax and sleep. :(
This Best Western room was super-spacious! It had a mini-fridge, microwave, huge TV, sitting area, and a king-sized bed in the room we stayed in. The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful, with one staffer even calling me when she was concerned that I might not have gotten the wrist bands for the Art Prize shuttle (I had gotten them the night before). The breakfast had make-yourself waffles, etc., and was generous and the facility even had an indoor pool. There weren't too many places to eat around there, and one really needed a car to get around. I am glad I called before we came to clarify this, because I would have spent more money on Uber or taxis than I spent by just renting an $11/day mid-sized sedan. With a car at our disposal, this location was just fine to see all we wanted to see in 2 1/2 days of visiting Art Prize venues. We did not even need the shuttle, because we found free parking at the Gerald Ford Museum and at the Meijer Gardens. Both of these venues were particularly worth visiting. The people we encountered at the hotel and in Grand Rapids in general were especially nice and tourist-friendly and I plan to visit again. I would definitely consider staying at this property again.
I came stayed at this hotell because it was close to downtown where my daughter had a nursing exam. Everything was clean and fresh. The carpets looked new and so did the sofa and bed accessories. I checked all corners in the bathroom. Everything was of top notch cleanliness! Even the staff at check in were fabulous and helpful. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.l
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews of the location, but I'm glad we kept our reservation. The area immediately surrounding the hotel isn't much to see, but there are lots of restaurants and shopping just a short drive away. This hotel was well located for our trip to Grand Rapids that included day trips to Saugatuck and Holland. It is right off the highway which is very convenient for getting around. The breakfast was basic, but good. The room was clean and comfortable and the wi-fi was very fast! The Direct TV in the room was also a nice amenity. If we're ever in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here!
This Best Western offers a wonderful place to stay. This is the 4th time we have stayed and it was great. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. There is easy access to 131 and getting downtown is simple. "We were visiting for Artprize and the concierge at time of check in was very helpful offering information on shuttle buses.
I loved this hotel! A circumstance arose where I needed a certain room type and they went above and beyond to make sure I could have it, even though they absolutely did not have to do that. Since the hotel was fully booked, I know it wasn't a simple task. The rooms are nice - they seem freshly remodeled. The breakfast was fabulous, too! They had options galore - lots of types of breads, fruits, cereals, yogurt, eggs, build your own oatmeal, fresh waffles and juices, coffee, and nice tea. To top it off, there was a little sign that said to inquire about gluten free and dairy free options. I'm vegan, so I asked for soy milk and they actually had it! That has never happened to me at any hotel breakfast before, so I was super thrilled. I felt accommodated in every way.Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be staying here!
Went to Grand Rapids for a celebration and stayed at this hotel close to the college but not downtown. Had a handicap room and was a minisuite. Was pleasantly surprised on the large room. The clerk (Cham) was very helpful and even called our room to see if everything was ok.
Very clean and friendly service. Would definitely stay here again!! Check in staff was kind enough to let us check in early with a BW membership which we signed up for and it's free. Breakfast was very good and kept up. I could have used a microwave in the breakfast room to warm my muffin, but that was just my preference. No complaints at all
We chose to stay at Best Western because of our great past experience with this hotel. Everything was wonderful! The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were excellent; my husband and I got a really good night's sleep. I would highly recommend this hotel for future accomodations.
Professional, courteous staff and an excellent property. I travel every week, and stay in 2-4 hotels; this is hands down THE BEST experience I've had. JoAnne (general manager) is absolutely wonderful! She went out of her way to make sure that mine and my team's experience was top notch.
The Best Western in Wyoming, Michigan was a great place to stay while we were visiting a friend. It was convenient, clean and all of the staff were very pleasant. We would stay there again for sure! This place was recommended by our friend that we were visiting. We were very delighted with the accommodations. The location was perfect, about 10 minutes from the friend we were visiting. We enjoyed the staff and the welcoming feeling we had while we were there. I can't say enough about this Best Western. We would recommend it to others as they visit the area. There were very nice places to eat and explore. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant.
I always stay here when I am in the area working. I have never been disappointed ever. The motel is clean and I mean you can smell it is clean. Rooms are updated and even though they have been there awhile the place feels new. I will always use this motel in the future.
Prior to booking this hotel, I read and reviewed the many reviews and commentaries. Both good and bad. I had my concerns. But upon arrival from a 3 and a half day travel from California, my first impression is "wow" this is a nice place. The outside of the hotel is inviting and nice looking. the surroundings did not look like it was in a depressed area as some reviewers led you to believe. The staff, and I compliment "Kevin" for his professional services in securing us a very nice suite and for his knowledge of the Best Western rewards program and points system. All staff members I encountered were super nice, friendly and helpful. I stayed here for 4 nights and did not encounter any difficulties with either the guests or the "loud noise from the bar behind the hotel" as indicated by some reviews for this hotel site. In fact it was quite, very quite for the four nights we stayed here. The suite we had was on the second floor near the laundry room. We used the laundry room. It was nice and clean. It cost a $1.50 per load for washing and for drying. The breakfast bar was awesome. It a little congested when there is a crowd. I mentioned this to the manager as well as the person overseeing the breakfast bar. Both agreed that it gets bottle neck around the waffle iron area but they are working on a solution which should be fixed once they get the counter top in for a table right outside the breakfast room. The breakfast bar offers two waffle irons: one for a large waffle, the other for 4 small individual waffles, eggs which is made differently each day, sausage, bacon, or sausage mixed in with the egg, cold cereals, oatmeal, coffee, juices, pastries, apples, oranges and bananas, and a decent size room to sit and eat. If there is one thing that this hotel could improve on is the size of the waste basket in our suite room. It's too small. We did not use the amenities this hotel had to offer because we were visiting families who lives in the Grand Rapids area. Costco was about 3 miles away and that is a plus for us Costco members and gas was pretty cheap. A Dutch Store was about 4 miles away and we bought some nice Dutch food and souvenirs. A Firestone Auto Care Center was about a half mile away which was a reassurance for me as they are my auto mechanic shop back home in California. A Cracker Barrel was about 9 miles away and we love Cracker Barrel restaurants. Shopping centers were also nearby, Hwy 131 is a stone's throw away which is a main highway to downtown Grand Rapids and to your shopping centers. There are a lot of businesses nearby unlike what I've read in the reviews on this site. The suites are spacious, nice and comfortable. I did not encounter any noises from guest walking to and fro outside the rooms. The beds are comfortable, clean, as is the bathrooms and the living room area. There are two closets, one in the living room area and one in the bedroom. Two TV as well. The small fridge did not have a small freezer compartment. I wish it had to freeze our ice packs. Overall we had a nice visit and stay at this hotel. We will come and stay here again on our next family visit. Thank you Staff and thank you for the military discount pricing, the suite, and your hospitality. It was a wonderful experience.
We travel on business - a lot! We highly recommend this Best Western Executive Inn & Suites. The lobby was clean, the room was clean, and the breakfast area was extremely clean and well kept. The staff was amazing! Where we were working, we didn't have water - the staff gave us a bottle of water every morning. At breakfast, my husband wanted berries for his yogurt - they magically came up with blueberries and strawberries! Whatever we needed they made sure we had - extra pillows, an extra blanket, everything. We will go out of our way to stay here again. They even promised service as good as what we had - "hopefully even better!" We are going to hold you to that. :-) Best of all - it was quiet, even though there were a lot of people staying with children.
These rooms are NOT suites, and it was in a horrible area, the rooms are dark, and certainly not up to executive standards! Outdated furnishings, bad carpet, holes in the walls, unprofessional front desk attendees, bad location, and I certainly would never recommend! Me and my coworkers never even laid down, we checked out and went to the Homewood Suites, that are actually suites! 10 THUMBS DOWN!
My 3 children and I stayed here Aug 3 thur Aug 8.We had traveled from Cali for my sons basketball tournament. One day after returning from a all day event I noticed someone had stolen just about all my bottle of prescription pain pills.no one had access to the room but housekeeping .I knew they had been in there because the beds were made up with the same covers on.They weren't changed even though my children had gotten grape jelly on them the morning early. When I spoke to the general manager Joanne Batson she asked as if I was lying. she stated her staff had never stolen anything but she would ask. Really who would admit to it. Her trainee Charmine Junguls had the same attitude rude .never did I get apology..I called corporate still no response .oh but the Inn did refund of $11.05..Lol..a slap in the face.
Nice pool & hot tub. Breakfast was diverse enough to satisfy our entire group. Spacious Queen suite accommodated nicely with fridge, micro & 2 tv's. The beds are quite firm and that made it pretty uncomfortable for me, but not a deal breaker.
Very good place to stay. quite and peaceful with very good service.this would be my place to stay when I go Grand rapid. The hotel facilities where excellent and breakfast included all varieties.Very good staff and very clean rooms
The room had plumbing issues with a partially clogged drain in the shower, and a very stubborn shower control. Called the desk because there wasn't any facial tissue in the room. An unapologetic desk clerk said that there wasn't any additional tissue in the entire hotel...after we checked a second time.
The reason for our stay was for State Games of America. The staff was most generous in letting us pretty much over take the eating area with our large group. The hotel and hot tub was very clean and the kids enjoyed it very much. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location of the various events and activities we attended was easy to navigate and fairly close by. There was plenty of good food/restaurant choices near by which was helpful as well. Rooms were clean and well stocked with plenty of towels when needed. I would highly recommend this hotel. The Sheboygan Lakers Figure Skating Club thanks you!
Okay hotel. Jacuzzi in room didn't work the best. Swimming pool was too cold for indoor. Felt like 65-70 degrees. Should been around 80-85. I guess they like are used to colder temperature pools. Overall not a bad hotel. Would stay there again when in the area.
Nice place, clean, comfy beds. Lobby was nice and staff friendly and helpful. Parking was decent. We were lucky to find a room as it was high vacation season near the lake so this was a necessity for us and we were very pleased.
We just spent 3 nights at the Best Western Executive Inn and Suites, Wyoming with our family. This hotel is close to all the attractions in the area - Holland, Sagatuck, South Haven, Oval Beach, Grandville. We spent three days at the attractions in the area and were able to return each evening to this hotel which was only a short drive away from all the busy areas. This hotel offers anything you would want to make your stay enjoyable. Great breakfast, clean rooms, indoor pool, internet access. I would highly recommend this hotel.
We had a great stay here - the room was clean and nice, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location is stellar, and the price is a great value! You can't beat it's location for getting all around Grand Rapids without downtown prices and you get a good, solid and restful room and hotel to slow down in after a day of adventures.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Not to far from downtown Grand Rapids, but outside of the city and close off the highway, making it easy to get places. Staff was very friendly. Our room was spacious and most importantly, CLEAN. Bed was moderately comfortable and pillows were nicely squishy. We also really appreciated the tall shower head! Would definitely stay here again!
I booked this through booking.com location was mikes from where we wanted to be and it was in a depressed location. Staff were great.Rooms were clean .Beds sucked internet was so slow it was useless. Hotel was overpriced.
We stayed at a hotel instead of with relatives and it was a good experience. We did a lot of driving since the wedding was in a different area but that was not a problem. This hotel was our home away from home.
Hotel's rooms, breakfast, and exterior are above average. The hotel desk staff are in need of extensive training so that they can accommodate the customer. The hotel desk staff are not customer friendly at all. Since the hotel is newer, both the interior and exterior are nice but basic. The location of the hotel is
We stayed at the Best Western in Wyoming while visiting for a family reunion. Rooms clean as was the rest of the hotel. The only issue we had was with Expedia. They had not pushed the reservation through to the hotel. Fortunately the staff at the hotel was able to give us the last room and contacted Expedia so we didn't have to pay twice. Always make sure you have you confirmation with you.
The staff was extrememly polite and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay very much! We took advantage of the pool, in-room wifi and the hot breakfast. All of these amenities were excellent. The location was convenient and the hotel was very quid, which is rare to find in a bigger city.
Pleasant staff and an overall quality hotel. They make you feel right at home here. It was worth the money. The breakfast was good as well. The location was not the best but though but that nothing to do with the hotel. All in all the rooms were clean, internet was fast and was close to downtown (About 10 minute car ride)
The hotel was very clean and presentable. Swimming pool was clean and area need. The bed was very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel to others and would even stay at this hotel again in the future.
Clean hotel, friendly staff, comfortable room. Nautilus in Fitness Center a bit outdated but rest of experience was GREAT! This is all I have to say. Trip Advisor is making me submit 200 characters. Thanks. That's all.
We had no control over the hotel pick as we were in town for High School State Meet. We were not disappointed. I arrived and asked if I could have a room in a certain location. No problem. We were allowed to have our team dinner in the breakfast area. What a perfect plan. I found the entire experience a pleasant surprise. The staff was very helpful. We would absolutely stay here again. Our room was quiet and clean. Beds comfortable.
My friend and I were in town for a concert. We would definitely stay here again. It could use a little updating, but was very nice for the price and location. Very easy to find! The office manager (Kevin) was great, very helpful, courteous, and great sense of humor!
Our itinerary dates were not correct in the hotel system, even though our printed out receipt showed that we did make reservations for that date. The hotel staff was very helpful, and did find a room for us. We do appreciate the service we got. Thank you.
The room and hotel are a good value for the price. The room was clean and service was good. The only warning I would share is that the hotel is next to a popular bar and half of the rooms overlook the parking lot. On weekends, you will hear the noise of the patrons as they leave the property. I would advise to stay on the opposite side of the hotel facing the road.
Stayed here while in town for the birth of our new nephew. The hotel lobby is clean & the staff was very nice upon arrival. The rooms are very clean and offer a fridge & microwave. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The only reason this isn't an excellent rating is because the indoor pool was a bit chilly and the hot tub was just about as cold. Also, there was so much chlorine being used it started burning your eyes after about 20 minutes of sitting in the pool room. The only thing I would say to work on would be the temperature of the pool & hot tub and maybe checking the levels of chlorine in the water as well! Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for people in the area!
Our room and the staff made our visit very enjoyable. We stayed in a suite with our toddler which worked out well. We could put him to bed and stay awake in the living area. It was very convenient to have a frig and microwave in our room as well. The entire staff (front desk, room service, breakfast set up) was extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here for any traveler.
Overall, the hotel was nice. A bit dated but the room was good size and clean. Breakfast was good but the typical continental breakfast. Biscuits and gravy was really good. Pool was great. A bit chilly but once your in, you warm up pretty quick. I went with my family of 5 and we all enjoyed it for the price.
Using this hote for overnight business trips. Perfectly located to downtown Grand Rapids. Just off freeways. Staff and hotel very nice- I haven't taken advantage of the complimentary breakfast yet but I will soon. The pool and fitness center are nice amenities as well. Look forward to my next trip to western Michigan.
Stayed two nights. Dripping shower. Pealing carpet off the wall. Room was okay. No room service was requested and I had no housekeeping services. Easy access form 131 and parking was convenient. Breakfast was average with tow kinds of eggs the second day, Light on the protein. Pretty much what most places do now.
Fun stay at Best Western with Girlfriends. Comfy pillows and bed. Great night sleep isn't want to wake up but didn't want to miss breakfast. Concert, Founders The BOB....everything Fun and Great. Fueled up before our departure Sunday morning. Thanks
Horrible!!!!! First let me state that I am a coach for two hockey teams that stayed at the hotel. This is approx... 30 families that stayed at the hotel. From the beginning when I tried to reserve a room it was problematic. I received no confirmation (was told I would get an email) and before I even checked in on Friday, I had parents talking about how unprofessional the workers were. We requested the use of a conference room (something many hotels have accommodated in the past) and were told that they were under construction, but we could use the breakfast area. On Friday, one of the teams arrived earlier than the other due to the game schedule. A parent approached me and told me that the hotel workers were complaining about the fact they had hockey teams in the hotel. Friday night we received NO indication that there were complaints. On Saturday the staff told us that there were several complaints and that they were trying to keep from going to upper management with the situation. The nature of the complaints: kids making a mess with hot cocoa packets and being in the halls. The workers threatened to cancel our use of the breakfast area for our team dinner. An even that we already paid for food and arranged. They also threatened to kick us out. Once again in the past five years and several tournaments per year, we have never had this issue. During the day while waiting for the elevator, staff members could be clearly heard discussing how horrible we were as guests. This conversation lasted several minutes and was recorded by a parent in the hallway. Yes, it was loud enough to be recorded clearly in the hallway. When confronted, the staff went off on us, stating how we were listening to a “private” conversation. The conversation was audible in a public area of a hotel. It is utterly unacceptable that our families were subject to this and heard these things. The lack of customer service and professionalism is not acceptable by any means. After confronted, our access to the breakfast area was cancelled in a clear move of retaliation. Overall, the demeanor and attitudes of the staff were a poor reflection on Best Western. We will be informing the local rink that this hotel is a Do Not Recommend hotel and I will be personally distributing the audio recording on several social media platforms in the hopes that this recording goes viral and customers are made well aware that this Best Western lack the common decency and customer service that one could expect in a hotel of this variety. The funny part of this all is... the bar behind the hotel was louder than any kids could have been. The constant booming of music and rowdy patrons (Fights, cars, etc) woke me up and kept me up every night...
My room had dirty pop and behind tv, blood or red goo on bedroom door, there were not any more towels at the pool and we had to freeze all the way back to our room on the 3rd floor, other guest had to leave the pool soaking wet as well so the floor and elevator was soaking wet and slippery. When front desk was notified about the dirty room. No compensation was offered and I was still charged full price for a dirty room.
Always a pleasure to come in and spend the night with family by myselfe for a relax time or just for fun.! This is a very nice hotel with all you need clean, peaceful and never have to worry about anything.
Not a huge fan of Best Western properties but this one is great! Staff was helpful, accommodating and pleasant. Rooms were clean. Close to downtown at a much better rate. Breakfast was more than adequate and the area was clean. I really have no complaints based on the price paid. I don't think you will be disappointed if you stay there!
We just spent the weekend at this very nice hotel. When we got there they did not have the room I had asked for so they upgraded me to a suite. That was very nice. The rooms are clean. The breakfast is just fine but the staff is the best. They go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant. I will stay there again.
Property is clean and well maintained- Amenities are great and rooms are clean. Surprisingly better than I would expect at a Best Western. Staff great. Breakfast could be better and real coffee rather than a machine.
As a Best Western rewards member, I always feel welcome and my business appreciated. I work early hours sometimes so getting a late check-out to catch some extra sleep is priceless! Kevin, the hotel manager, was very accommodating and treated me very well. The women who work the breakfast area are also great and the housekeeping staff are also nice. I heartily recommend this Best Western.
We had five in our room and we fit nicely. Staff were friendly, we asked for extra towels they were delivered right away. Not sure what people are expecting when a hotel includes breakfast, there was no omelette bar or mimosas, but we were satisfied. The hotel is clean, comfortable and not too far of a drive from the downtown area where we wanted to be. Reading reviews I was a little concerned about the area, the state of the hotel doesn't make you feel that way. The surroundings I would describe as run down with plenty of unattractive concrete but not scary
We called to ask for a room and the lady was so cheerful and helpful we felt confident to make our reservation there. The room was very nice and the breakfast was good - but not great. We can confidently recommend this hotel. Actually, stayed on our way east and on our return trip.
I stayed here several nights for a family wedding in town. The location of the hotel is a bit sketchy, but the hotel itself is hotel is clean, comfortable, and modern. The staff member that checked us in was extremely friendly and polite. She even called up to our room within fifteen minutes to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. A different staff member allowed our family to use the breakfast room as a place to socialize in the evening. Each and every hot breakfast was excellent. The pool area was clean and stocked with plenty of clean towels. My only complaint is that there was not enough soap and shampoo provided for the number of guests staying in the room, even though at the time of booking I had requested extra soap and shampoo; I had to make a late-night trip down to the lobby to request more.
Great place to stay for a wedding weekend, close to shopping, restaurants very close, had great family time, pool was nice, breakfast was good, everywhere we had to go was very close to the hotel, the staff was excellent!
If you are staying on a week night you will not have trouble sleeping but on the weekend the bar on the backside of the building is out of control when they close at 2. They had a raucous party in their parking lot from 1:30 am until 3 am. Not good the night before my son's wedding. The people on the back side of the building were the only ones that heard the noise the front side never heard them.
Stayed at this hotel for one night; booked by company travel team. The hotel is newer, very nice with great staff. I have stayed at Best Westerns many times before and this was at or above expectations. The only issue was finding a restaurant for dinner. The area is rather old. The hotel may be a signal of renaissance but the rest of the area has to catch up. Ask the front desk for specific dinner suggestions. If you are a first time visitor to the area, don't go driving and expect to find much more than fast food in the immediate area.
The hotel was very good - No complaints on room, service, cleanliness, etc. I would rate it very good or excellent if not for the noise issue. The problem is that the room I was in overlooked the parking lot of a night time party place. The noise was incredibly loud well into the wee hours of the morning. I did not rest well and it made the morning difficult. I don't know if its a nightly issue or weekends or this was a one time event. I was there on a Friday night, so I'd definitely ask that question before booking.
The hotel was neat, clean and conveniently located for our needs. We were in town for a Grand Valley football game, so needed a convenient location for the night. The hotel staff was professional and accommodating. The overall lobby was warm and inviting. Good breakfast the next morning.
I'll start at the beginning; when we first checked in about 6:30-7pm, it wasn't too much of a friendly greeting or any smiles whatsoever. I know that may sound silly but the first presentation of customer service can impact a stay. I asked about 2 weeks prior to the reservation if I could have an upgrade due to my BWR status and I was told it was taken care of. When I asked about it upon check-in she told me that if they were available, the other manager would have done it already. She didn't bother to check anything she just quickly told me they were all full. I would probably rate the encounter with the front desk a 2/10. At least they were there. Next, the room; When we checked into our room it had a funky odor. It smelled like a musky, old moldy smell? Almost like really old stinky shoes. I had to bring my own air freshener and that only helped slightly. We had to keep spraying a puff or two every now and then to make it smell normal. Overall the room was clean and the sheets were clean, there was some dust on the table and the drawers. I didn't check the vents. The pool and whirlpool were nice/okay, I think both may need to be cleaned soon. It also had that weird smell. Breakfast was great and well kept up on. The TV in the breakfast area was very nice. Overall it could have been much better and for the typical price at which they sell their rooms I would keep looking. Not worth it for $140- a night.
We were there during a tornado warning. We all took cover in the hallway. The internet went down and I had great help from Santo's and Jenny. They placed my food order from a great pizzeria (Burton heights pizzeria)...and took care of my elder father and me for other requests. I would love to have these two employees working for me!
We were using "reward" points for a free night at this location. The clerk asked for our credit card to bill room ... I told here it was already paid with points ... she didn't know what to do. I gave her phone # to call and verify. Did not swipe my card, so all good.
We planned our annual trip to Sagatuck and Holland, Michigan with our daughter, son-in-law and children. They had found this hotel which happened to be the Best Western Executive Inn and Suites in Wyoming, Michigan. We are Gold Plan Members of Best Western and were able to take advantage of their current promotion of $50.00 discount because we had stayed at Best Western Hotels in Pennsylvania on a previous trip. This hotel conveniently located off major highways, close to great shopping and restaurants. Since we were going to Sagatuck to Oval Beach this was close enough and yet not in the high price hotels in Sagatuck. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for its cleanliness and great staff. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent hotel, accessible to all my attractions I wanted to visit. My only problems were the very low volume on the tv's. One had to keep conversations to a bare minimum if you wanted to hear the television. Breakfast was excellent. My other chief complaint was the yelling and excessive nose coming from another room at 6 in the morning. The room must have had like 7 kids practicing some sort of sport, terrible yelling and shouting. Especially given the early time this was.
We booked a suite with a king bed and jacuzzi. The room was well maintained and clean. The check in went smooth. With most best westerns we have visited they had warm cookies and milk as a snack. This was not the case here. The morning staff person was all business and not friendly. The hotel was reasonably priced and would stay there again.
Clean stay in a safe neighborhood. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great. I do wish hotels would consider adding sugar-free items on their menu for diabetics. At least Cheerios would be a welcome addition.
I was a bit skeptical about this hotel because of some of the reviews complaining about the bar behind the hotel, but I can assure you that it's not really a big deal at all and I would gladly stay at this hotel again. The breakfast was alright, but I wish they would've served the biscuits and gravy a bit more often, and it would be nice if they had some outdoor seating for those who like to sit outside and night and relax. All in all, one of the best hotels in Wyoming, and if you're staying here be sure to drive down 28th to Marge's and grab some fresh donuts the next morning.
staff very qualified and helpful, making our stay extremely enjoyable. originally booked 2 nights, but stayed an extra night. kevin the front desk manager is a people person, if you are lucky enough to meet him say hello for me, roy
This is a good hotel (no, not great) in a not good location. I'm not saying it's a scary location or anything like that. But you're going to have to drive to get anywhere you want to go, including to Starbucks, a decent place for breakfast or grocery store or certainly any touristy thing. On the plus side, there are a bunch of ethnic restaurants in the area. That's not a veiled dig, either. I truly consider that a plus. The hotel itself was fine, middle of the road. I didn't really experience anything exactly wrong with it, but nothing stood out as better than just fine either. One thing that was aggravating was that there was only a staff person actually at the front desk one time in our whole visit. The rest of the times I went to the desk, I had to wait for someone to return. Our housekeeping service was actually great everyday. It was so thorough, that it was like walking into a new room each night. That's uncommon in stayover service, anymore. The housekeeping was the best staff service of the whole hotel. There is a nice looking indoor pool and hot tub. We did not try it out. The physical hotel was better than the service. The beds were ok, firm enough, but not great, kind of lumpy - as were the pillows. My partner liked the bed more than I did. It was nice to have a small couch and soft chair in the room. It's good to have seating aside from the bed. There are also small refrigerators with a good sized freezer and a microwave in the rooms. The TVs were smaller that you expect in rooms now. I'm thinking it might have been about 27". Everything in the room was clean and seemed kind of new. BTW, the coffee pot in our room was one of those single brew machines that takes a pillow of coffee in a small little tray and brews right into a cup. It does not take K-cups or a basket filter, so you can't bring your own coffee. My partner said that the coffee provided in the room was pretty good coffee for hotel room coffee. I'm picky and like to know about the coffee situation in advance, so there ya' go. One thing that really bothered me about this hotel is the smell. There was an overpowering scent of men's cologne in the lobby and hallways each night. So strong you could taste it. Even on the fourth floor. Either a guest or a staff member who gets around to all areas was wearing WAY TOO MUCH scent and the place just reeked. If we hadn't had reservations and had just stopped in off of the road, it was bad enough that I would have kept looking. There's no reason for that. Breakfast was ok to good for an inclusive breakfast. There was not as much selection as a Holiday Inn Express, but it worked. There was coffee, juice, milk, hot and cold cereal, muffins, yogurt, some fruit in a bowl of juice, scrambled eggs with ham and waffles. The reason I wouldn't suggest this hotel to friends lies in it's surrounding area. Our friends were put off by what they described as the grittiness of the area. I simply thought it was completely inconvenient. The area is a mix of kind of run down and industrial. It didn't feel unsafe, just low rent. You're going to drive to do ANYTHING you need or want to do, including finding breakfast if you oversleep. AND... the hotel backs up to another hotel and a restaurant/bar combo attached to the other hotel. They played music that seemed to get louder and louder all night. I believe they finally closed at 1am or 2am on Friday night. Saturday night was not as bad of a problem because the police came at around midnight and everyone left in a hurry, so yay? The rooms on the BACK side of the Best Western face this bar. I had read about that in advance and tried to call ahead to get our room placed on the front side of the hotel and to get us placed near our friends, since I knew we would arrive late. The hotel will not preassign rooms. So we got a front row seat for the loud music / police show. If you truly sleep like a rock, you might be ok. If you picked this hotel up and put it in a nicer or at least more convenient neighborhood, I'd be ok with it. But as it is, I will look for something in a better location next time.
The first time I stayed at a Best Western was during a work trip last fall. I arrived at BW in Wyoming around 1:30 am and I was sick as a dog. The front desk noticed I was not feeling well and offered to assist in bringing my bags to my room. The next day when I was feeling better, they gave me directions to local pharmacies and grocery stores. It was the front desk hospitality that keeps me coming back.
As I drove up, I was surprised to discover the location of the Best Western was in a really run-down part of town. Still, the moment I entered, I was cordially greeted and provided with service right away. The lobby was beautifully appointed, with a spacious and comfortable breakfast room just off the lobby. My room was also very clean, with fluffy pillows, a separate living-room area, plenty of towels, and a microwave and fridge with freezer. I looked forward to a dip in the pool, perhaps a soak in the whirlpool, and a cozy night's sleep. None of which happened. Upon going down to the pool, I discovered seven children, all about 9 years and younger -- one with water wings! -- in the whirlpool WITHOUT an adult. Great. There were two moms yapping away in the pool, ignoring the children. Not the atmosphere for a relaxing swim or soak, so back I went to my room. At about 7 PM, a child across the hallway began shrieking continuously for almost an hour. As a parent myself, I figured the screaming would curtail, but the child went on and on and on. It made me wonder if the parents were poking him with pins. About half a hour after the kid finally quieted down, the party started. Same room across the hall, but apparently with the room next door to it involved as well. There was lots of applause, loud laughter, shouting, and noise that did NOT abate. This was at about 8 PM. I needed to get to sleep by 9:30 PM in order to leave for the event I'd come to Grand Rapids for at 5:30 AM. The noise wasn't going to let that happen. At one point, the party moved to the hallway. I opened my door to ask them to please be quiet and saw three adults, each with two disposable cups of alcohol in their hands. They shut up when they saw me... but started up loudly again the second I shut the door. I finally called the front desk and asked to be moved to a different room. The front desk staffer apologized and said she'd talk to the noisemakers across the hall for me. However, the noise did not die down at all. In fact, on two occasions, a male voice right outside my door yelled "POLICE!!!" and more laughter ensued. I finally couldn't deal with this any more. At 9:30 PM I went down to the lobby, only to encounter the kids from the swimming pool running along the corridors, whacking at vending machines and being noisy. The manager was not at the front desk, and the kids finally left. The manager then showed up and apologized that she'd been in the pool area. Apparently the last guests to use the pool broke something there that required her attention. Yes, the two mothers with the kids. And yes, THESE very people were the ones across the hall from me. When I told her that nothing had changed other than the guy yelling police, the manager called again and told them that they needed to keep it down, because now she had to move a hotel guest because of their noise volume. Her tone in handling these people surprised me, as did her words. It was almost as if she personally knew the noisemakers and was getting irritated that they were causing trouble, like an errant child. I was given a new room two floors down, and had to move my belongings from where I'd already set them up for my stay. During my first trip down to my new room, I encountered a pizza-delivery guy bringing pizza up to the noisemakers, and one of the women referred to him by name, as if she knew him already (which further makes me wonder if these noisy people were known to the hotel). My new room was just as nice as my previous one, although the AC wasn't working too well. I wasn't happy that the hotel didn't enforce the rules they had posted at the front desk: No Parties (clearly these people were partying) and that, if you disrupt another guest, you'll be asked to leave. Well, yeah... these party loudmouths should have been asked to leave for all the disruptions they caused. By 10:40 AM I was once again settled and went to bed... only to be awakened at about 1:15 AM by the loud revving of engines and some idiot continually honking his horn. I was floored that the hotel was not doing anything to get these people to knock it off. I finally got out of bed and looked out the window, to discover that the revving motors and honker person were at the Holly's Bar next door to the hotel. I toyed with calling the police to have them go over there and get those inconsiderate idiots to shut up, but I finally gave up and did my best to get two to three more hours of sleep. Lovely facilities, but my stay was FAR from restful.
Do to a volley Ball tournament in the area the hotel was full of young people. This should be no excuse to allow loud music and kids running through the night. Some of us do have to get up to go to work in the morning.
Title says it all, the room was nice, the staff was great. It is in a very run down, industrial part of town. I had no idea and it did not say that on any of the sites. That is really the only issue I had.
The hotel was clean and quiet, the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. It's close to the highway, less than 10 min from downtown, and close to restaurants and shopping. Overall, a pleasant stay.
Service is good and it's clean. Wish the bar out back wasn't there as karaoke and patrons were very loud in the parking lot from midnight to 2:30am. Close to many places to eat. Nice breakfast and workout room.
Great hotel experience. I was traveling alone with my two little kids (they are active and curious boys 3 and 5yrs) and I felt very welcomed here from beginning to end of our stay! Jenny at the front desk was patient, helpful and courteous. I never felt like my kids were a nuisance at any time. In fact, all of the staff (cleaning, maintenance, manager) were pleasant and even engaged my kids and their silly questions and conversation. This might seem silly, but feeling welcomed is a huge part of a great experience. Other than making us feel welcomed the hotel is very clean. It is a small hotel, in a bit of an odd location, but the rooms and interior halls, lobby, pool were all in good condition and very clean. The king room had good space and all the amenities. The bathroom was a nice size and very clean. It seems that the staff and management really take pride in their hotel and their business! The location is a bit unfortunate, near some industrial type area which made me nervous for safety and noise, but we had no problems. Despite the location not looking the best, it was close to everything we needed.
Check-in and check-out were efficiently handled by friendly staff, and the breakfast bar was simple but well-stocked (plus waffle machines!). Easy to get on and off the highway (but still quiet enough), and a gas station is right beside the property. Staying here and driving downtown to spend the day is acceptable though not ideal. Queen beds were more like double beds. Things felt clean even though not new. Room had ironing things in the closet already; wish there were a kettle instead of just a coffee machine. We didn't visit the pool.
This was a pleasant experience. Handy access to 131 and area restaurants gives you quickness in all aspects. Even though this is located next to a catering/banquet hall that had some noise when it ended, the room was pretty suppressive of the noise. Nice parking area and well lighted. Overall my impression of Best Western quality has continued
The outside is showing its age,but it has been remodeled on the inside and looks and smells nice.I am very sensitive to odors so thats important The staff were very helpful and pleasant with a refreshing sense of humor. In kind of a commercial area but close to most of the important locations. I would recommend it.
Excellent hotel. Clean, very comfortable bed. Less than 10 minutes to downtown Grand Rapids. Ask for a room at the front of the hotel, as the back is adjacent to a karaoke club that was noisy until 3 am.
The staff is great, accommodations very clean, stay was great. Would recommend this hotel. One suggestion to you if you are staying at this hotel-there is no airport shuttle but there is a great cab service. There is no restaurant in this hotel so if you are not driving directly to hotel, you would need to take cab to area restaurants.
If you enjoy great service, comfort, and wonderful breakfasts, don't miss staying in this hotel if you are ever in the Grand Rapids, MI area. The managers and staff go out of their way to insure that your experience is a memorable one.
During our stay we had a couple special requests, (arrived a day early, need of the breakfast room in the evening for team dinner) and the staff was very helpful at every turn. The communication the staff has with other shifts is amazing. Each person we spoke with seemed to know what was needed and happening. They even opened the breakfast room early to accommodate the early play schedule for our team. Thank you very much to the entire staff at the Best Western, Buchanan St, Wyoming MI!
Great room, comfy and clean. Hot breakfast with a nice variety of frutes and cereal. Staff is very nice and professional, check in was a breeze, along with check out as well. Well worth your hard earned dollar.
First time at a Best Western, would would stay with them again. Nice, clean, well run hotel. Staff are exceptional!! The room was perfect, especially if you have a family. Would definitely recommend. We stayed for a conference and turned it into a family trip.
Close to downtown Grand rapids (approximately 10min on the highway). In a quiet area. Room was spacious for two, clean and comfortable. Staff were lovely. Good breakfast options. Very accommodating for an extended check-out time.
We stayed for one night in this hotel while visiting Grand Rapids, which is a short cab ride away. The check-in clerk was very friendly, and got everything done very quickly. The room was a small suite, with a sofa area and a comfortable bed. There was coffee available 24 hours in the lobby. Breakfast was very good, with plenty to choose from. We would happily stay here again.
On business trip and stuck there over New Years with lost luggage courtesy of the airlines. The staff went out of their way...above and beyond....to assist me in any way possible. It made the otherwise terrible business trip much more bearable. The rooms are clean and well equipped and decorated. Very tasteful.
Great rates, great location. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Nice pool and hot tub. Nice breakfast with a large variety of items. Clean rooms. Our family meet here to celebrate Christmas and we needed 4 different rooms. All our rooms were accommodating.
Nice hotel. Have stayed several times. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with hot and cold items. Good variety. Rooms are large, king size bed with pull out couch, fridge and microwave. We try to stay here when we visit our son at college. Close to Grand Rapids and Holland Michigan.
The Best Western has been my choice for comfort and value for a very long time, and will continue to be in the distant future. The breakfast, alone, is worth the stay, not to mention the delightful staff and comfortable accommodations.
We stayed at the Best Western hotel because we had a house fire. The staff at Best Western really made us feel at home. The food was very good and refreshing. We really enjoyed the fitness center, pool and whirlpool. The Executive suite was perfect. It really gave us a hommy feeling.
We stay here quite often while in town for business. Kevin at the front destroy is great! Joann is also one of the best managers we have met and we travel quite a bit. The other front desk staff is great too. The pool is always one of my favorites, and warm too. The rooms are always clean and in good working condition. The breakfast is good too.
I came her for work, and have been coming here ever since. It's the nicest, cleanest hotel in the area. Nice pool and hot tub too. The exercise room isn't too bad for a hotel either . It's just off of hwy 131 and 28th street, on Buchanan
Overall room was nice, bed comfortable, hallway, lobby, and pool area nice. Rooms renovated but my room looked like it had a party gone wrong with the wine stains on furniture. TV remote did not work right, hi/lo on hairdryer did not work, and no written instructions on how to get on the wifi.
This was a nice place to stay- great front desk staff! Room was clean & generous size. Breakfast was nice and plentiful just need a few more tables! Pool area was also very nice! Close to shopping & restaurants!
I stayed at this hotel with friends last Saturday (October 17) so that I could run the Grand Rapids Marathon on Sunday. I had a very spacious King room, with a microwave and refrigerator. My room and bathroom was very clean, plenty of nice towels, very high quality bed linens & extra pillows. The staff was very friendly and I had a very comfortable stay! I plan on running this marathon again and I will definitely stay at this hotel - was also a great value! The only downside (and it was not the hotel's fault) was a middle-of-the-night party in the parking lot below my room! Loud, drunk (kids?) partying outside on a chilly night, at 2:30 am. I figured out how to turn the AC unit on "constant fan" and that blocked the noise :) *note..the hotel was very quiet, inside. The only noise issue was outside, and apparently these weren't hotel guests. Great stay!
Wyoming Michigan isn't exactly in the middle of a metropolitan area and therefore finding a hotel is a bit dicey. But I teach here several times a year and I'm glad I found this Best Western Plus. The hotel is slight higher priced than most semi-rural areas but the quality of the hotel makes it worth while. There are just a few of these hotels that I have run across where I know my stay is going to be very pleasant. This is one of those hotels and this visit was no exception.
We requested a feather free room & thought thats what we got. In the middle of the night my wife woke up because she was having an allergic reaction to feathers & realizing we had feather pillows. She swelled up & was sick & was miserable. She called the front desk only to find out the hotel only had feather pillows. When we checked out we were given a 20% discount, but that didn't even cover the medicine I had to buy to help my wife feel better. My wife was sick & miserable for the whole day & into the next day. The feather pillows ruined our whole day. We felt the hotel should have done more to accommodate us, ie...got some non feather pillows, not charge us for our stay, give us hotels points, something more than the 20% discount.
Stay here often for business. Never had a problem, staff goes out of their way to accommodate you and motel is very clean. Will never stay anywhere else when I'm here. Breakfast is good and has actual hot items.
Stayed here for a business event in Grand Rapids - All hotels closer to Devos Place in GR were sold out but I found this one on Trip Advisor and thought I would give it a chance. So glad I did! It was super easy access to US 131 (right off the exit) and only a 7 min drive to Devos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. The surrounding Wyoming area offered lots of shopping and dining choices nearby - this was nice, as I arrived early and my room was not ready. I was able to shop and eat lunch nearby without having to drive into Grand Rapids that day. I was impressed with the quality of the hotel and the comfortable room. I stayed in Room 115 which was right off the lobby on the main floor and next to the vending/ice area which was convenient. Just steps away from the breakfast room and 24hour coffee service which was a plus! The lobby was nice and inviting, my king bed room had a sofa, work desk, big refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker and other amenities. The hotel also has a nice pool/hot tub area. Lots of tv channel choices too (although I didn't watch tv much but it was nice to know). The inroom wifi worked very well with no interruptions noticed. My only complaints were that the AARP room rate on line was $5.00 higher then the normal internet rate - which I thought would be adjusted when I checked in and it was not; and that the complimentary breakfast choices were very limited - scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles, pastries and cold cereal - I would have liked fresh fruit and possibly bacon because I do not eat sugary or starchy breakfast foods. But this is a minor complaint as I was happy to at least have hot food choices instead of the normal "continental" breakfast served at most hotels. Overall, I recommend this hotel for the value, location just South of Grand Rapids, and for the comfortable, clean room that offered many extra amenities - It was nice and a surprise to have the comforts of home at this price - I will be coming back very soon for a getaway with the Hubby and we will definitely stay here then! Thanks Best Western!
I was on a business trip to the area and needed quick access to/from a company site. Hotel was very nice inside & out. The area in which the hotel is located is a bit rundown and not as safe & secure as I'd like it to have been.
Great staff - professional and friendly. The hotel was extremely clean - exterior, public areas, and my guest room. If I had to look for a complaint they would be very minor - trash was never emptied in the Business Center and the scrambled eggs tasted like army surplus (otherwise, breakfast was very good).
I was impressed with cleanliness of the hotel, specially the pool and spa area. Internet was not slow and had everything I needed for a mid week Business Trip. The breakfast was ok but more choices would be better specially for run and go. The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome.
My wife and I stayed at this location for Artprize. This is a good location to stay for visiting Artprize. The travel time to downtown is less than ten minutes. The "Site-lab" (Rumsey St Project) location for Artprize was on the South Side of GR so it was easy to go there first (exit 83B, then turn West). The Downtown Market is also located on this side of town and is worth a visit even though prices are a bit high there. This hotel is located in a "Light-Industrial" zoning area. The views are poor, however the hotel is back from the road just enough to avoid a lot of the vagrants that wander the nearby 28th Street and Division intersection. Beware of your surroundings if you need to visit the Walgreens on the corner or nearby gas stations. There are a LOT of nearby restaurants within a few minutes drive from this location (those reviewers who are complaining that there are no nearby places must not be driving a car). The ethnic food restaurants (Mexican, Chinese, Oriental, Greek, etc.) seem to be located in this area of Grand Rapids. My wife and I found a good Dim Sum and Vietnamese Pho place a few miles South of here (down Division St. just past Fat Man's Fish Fry) The free breakfast is average, however the mix for the make-your-own-waffles is better than at most hotels... the waffles come out of the wafle-maker in one piece and just the right color of "doneness" (not under-cooked or burnt). The bed comfort level is just average, not over-plush like you get at 4 star places and not thin and hard like you get at 2 star motels. The Single bed suite has one large bed near the window and a separate area with a couch and chair that view the same TV as the bed. A small refrigerator (with separate freezer door) and microwave are provided. The bathroom is standard size with a good amount of counterspace. The shampoos and Conditioner are Pantene (nice). The cheap coffeemaker is also in the bathroom with cheapo, no-name coffee. The hook on the door and showerhead are way up there where short people can't use them. Room 213 (where we stayed) is in a good location between the stairways and close to the elevator, however there is a loud noise at night in either the room HVAC or some other vent (laundry?) nearby. The woman who checked us in was efficient, but not very friendly. She talked a bit too quickly and seemed irritated, like she wanted to get back to her desk and play on her computer or cell-phone.
