Best Western Plus NorWester Hotel & Conference Centre

We were treated royally by all the staff at this stay. Room was extremely comfortable and clean along with all the other facilities. It was also nice to have the shuttle service from the airport which arrived promptly.

Was in Thunderbay for a conference, and we could not have picked a better place to have one. The rooms were clean and comfortable,the hospitality was great and the pool and sauna area was relaxing.The scenery is beautiful and the hotel is very quiet.

The staff was unpleasant and unhelpful which made for an overall top worst travel experience for us. We didn't feel like valued guests. Exception: the housekeeping staff, who were kind, professional. Guests need to be buzzed into the pool area by someone at the front desk. On 1 occasion, we waited at the front desk in our bathing suits while the associate talked with a server in front of us about the rush in the restaurant. She was complaining about patrons, then counting her tips which was all very awkward. When they finished and the front desk rep acknowledged us, she said, "Can I help you?" It was pretty evident we were just waiting to go swimming but my husband obliged and stated the obvious, asking to get to the pool. Even then, she said, "Do you want me to buzz you in?" It was the craziest amount of time to do the simplest task. This type of exchange happened 2 out of 3 of our pool visits.Also, the front desk rep told me that no outside food or beverage are allowed in the pool because i was holding a disposable coffee cup from the room's coffee maker. When i asked another staff person, clarifying the beverage isn't from outside, he said it's perfectly fine. Then in the pool, another table had pizza ordered in and pitchers of drinks. The inconsistency was odd.One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it included breakfast. Had we known that we would have to go to the restaurant, be seated and order, we would have gone a different way. We waited 10 minutes for a table, another while for the food to arrive and my husband had to find a staff person to pay because no one came back to check us out after the meal. At that time, the person who ran the transaction was flustered and curt with him, despite a generous tip (we felt bad for the staff because they were visibly overwhelmed). Not only was this all unpleasant and felt like a waste of time, we were only given 2 vouchers for breakfast. My husband, 2 kids & I travel often and when a hotel says breakfast is included, it always means for the guests in the room. This was the first time we had to pay for 2 people. It wasn't worth the time waiting, unpleasant service, and price. Lastly, we are friendly and our greetings to front desk staff were ignored:(We don't recommend the hotel, despite the beautiful view. Disclaimer: We understand people have bad days.This was one of our worst overall experiences. Just hoping to help w/ improvements or to help other travelers w/ similar values.

The Rooms were adequate and the hotel staff were extremely helpful in finding us a place to have a boat trailer fixed. The restaurant attached to the lobby served very good food too. I plan on staying there again next year.

Stopped here once again on our way north. No regrets. It is on the south side of town, which we like. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant has a great breakfast. We will be here next year.

We showed up here without reservations while visiting Thunder Bay and luckily there was a room available. This turned out to be one of the best two night stays my wife and I have experienced with this hotel chain. All amenities very close to the hotel if you choose to explore the area. Great pool and hot tub here as well although I hear that it may be closing in a few months for renovations. We visited in September so I'm guessing things weren't too busy. The BW chains seem to have the most comfortable beds in our opinion and my wife and I are very light sleepers. Very little to no disturbances in the hotel when we visited but with more people I bet there will be more noise. The Cliff Hanger restaurant in the hotel was very good too! However some of the over worked wait staff seemed a little under pressure even when things had slowed down. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinners here over the course of our brief stay. All in all a great stay for the money and it was terrific getting coupons for some of the local attractions! Very much appreciated and thanks to all the staff making our stay the BEST!

Overall it is a good hotel. A little out of town though. You may have inconvenient access to your room from the lobby because the hotel is a little spread out. Has nice full service restaurant. We only had breakfast there but it was very good and the staff was great although they were very busy.

We were greeted by friendly and helpful people every day of the 5 days we spent here. The pool and spa facilities are top notch. The rooms are airy and clean and the cleaning staff brought the room back up to snuff every day. There is a balcony running along the second floor and great views of the mountains as well as a pond with a fountain. Lots of parking and there is a restaurant on site as well/ We would certainly return. The only drawback would be that it is a few km outside of town to the south and a distance from the east west transcanada.

A beautiful view of the mountains. Staff were pleasant and helpful regardless of which departments they worked in. Wifi was a bit slower than what I am use to but I was still able to accomplish what I needed. Chlorine in the pool seemed to be a bit overly strong as it was very noticeable even in the lobby. After swimming in the pool my skin smelled of chlorine for two days despite having showered two days in a row. Appreciated the free breakfast coupons which made ordering breakfast less stressful. A bit far from town but being closer to the mountains and nature was probably the reason the bride and groom picked this venue. The fitness center was well equipped with assorted machines, weight lifting equipment, a pool and sauna rooms. The change room was spacious and had lockers for storing one's belongings.

Great place to stay. Comfortable, clean and quiet. Staff services are amazing in every area of the Hotel!! Friendly and willing to go beyond what is expected!!! Location is minutes away from city and air port and has stunning views of the beautiful landscape of Northern Ontario. Great Breakfast included with stay....youlll be amazed at the amount of food and quality of it. Not your average cereal and toast usually given free....Hot eggs and yummy omeletes are a few great menu items.You will love your stay here!!!!

We attended a family wedding at the Hotel and the room was excellent and accommodated our pet. The catering department also did an excellent job with the wedding preparations and evening meal. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel as a venue for a wedding.

I would love to go back - and next time I do, I'll be taking an extra day. The hotel is a little off the highway (if you're doing the TransCanada thing). We usually try to make it to Dryden on our first day on the road, but most of the hotels were sold out there - and they wanted $229/night for a Comfort Inn - not happening... So, we went with this hotel instead. Since we knew we wouldn't be on the road as much, I was looking for a nice setting - and this place delivers! Absolutely stunning views, nice big law where people were walking their dogs, pond with a fountain, etc. Check-in was fine. Got into our room quickly and the room was really nice. The beds seemed new and the linens were clean. Nice new bathroom. Big TV. We were in a ground-level room and were able to pull our vehicle right up to the room - made loading & unloading really easy - and with the express check-out option we were able to get back onto the road. The restaurant was our favourite part! Lana - who was there at night and then again in the morning - is amazing. We had a wonderful dinner out on the patio with a beautiful view. My husband, a chicken wing fanatic, said the wings were in his Top 3 of all-time. We got a complimentary breakfast in the morning and it was great. I don't know if I'd stay here again when I'm doing the cross country trip, but I'd definitely considering spending 2 days at this beautiful hotel. We really loved it.

Excellent facility, staff was friendly, obviously well trained. Room was comfortable as well as the bed. Although the facility is about 8 miles from downtown Thunder Bay, the facility is worth the miles. Nice sports bar and restaurant combination across the highway.

The most friendly and pleasant staff who are extremely helpful. The best and most thoughtful hotel for motorcyclist. Always have a gift pack and towels left on the bikes in the mornings to dry off any moisture. And the they have bike wash area. Always happy to arrive here when in Thunder Bay area.

We checked in to the hotel a week ago and there was an issue with the room that we brought to the attention of the staff at the front desk. They responded with very professional service that more than met our expectations to resolve the issue. We wish that all hotels that we have stayed at would provide such personalized attention. My husband and I always stay here en route to a fishing lodge in Ontario. The rooms have been updated and this year we especially appreciated that we could have our dog with us. The hotel is in a beautiful spot south of Thunder Bay and we appreciated the large grounds where we could exercise our dog after a long drive. The hotel has a restaurant, but due to a wedding party going on , we ate at a restaurant just across the road and appreciate having that option.

This hotel is little away from the city. Rooms Facing the back was enjoyable when we stayed the first time as the view is beautiful as it is facing the mountain. We recently went back to the hotel and stayed there for 2 nights but did not get the room we desired. But that was perfectly alright with us as the rooms were clean and specious. Friendly staff. Pool was great. Breakfast was excellent as it was hot, fresh and made to order. It was worth our stay.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip and I was pleasantly surprised. The place is a bit out of town but now I know why they get a lot of visitors. It's probably one of the best places in ThBay. The views of the hills are gorgeous and the deck is a great place to enjoy them. Staff are helpful and courteous and the place is very clean. Food was good too.

Great Hotel. Lovely deck. Kids loved the pool. Hot tub was closed so that was a downer for the hubby and myself. Great service. Food was delicious and the waiter was so nice. Also, there was an awesome area for dogs to run.We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Throughout all of the room changes and seating/meal changes the Nor'Wester was happy to help. I was wedding #3 of the weekend and the staff did not show it. Everyone was ready and willing to give the best customer service possible and they did. The accommodations were lovely, the service was phenomenal and the property is beautiful! Catering Manager Kecia Batting was with me every step of the way as I planned my wedding and I had total confidence going into my wedding that all would run smoothly and it did. I could not be happier. Staff even went above and beyond to press my husbands shirt in between photo sessions as the weather was an unexpected 38 degrees! They packaged my dinner and sent it up to my room for me to enjoy later, stored my cake in the fridge for me to take home the next day, and when I forgot my flowers in my room after check out, the front desk had them waiting for me. Robert was present all night to meet any and all of my needs and Roberta was checking in during dinner to ensure we were happy. It was an absolutely amazing day and I couldn't imagine having my wedding anywhere else. All of my guests loved their rooms, the included breakfast, and the food during the reception. A wonderful hotel with a full breakfast at their restaurant. The staff was extremely helpful when I had made a erroneous reservation and straightened it out without cost to us. The location was good - just about 20 min. from the Thunder Bay harbor.

We stayed for 2 nights. We loved the location south of town. It felt like we were out of the city but yet we were quite close. The location offered nice views of the surrounding hills. The rooms were standard, clean, and adequate with good sleep quality. We had breakfast included at the attached restaurant. The waitresses were surly both days we ate there, which was uncomfortable but the food was decent. We ate on the back deck for supper one night and had a nice dinner. I used the fitness center and found it ok but too hot. We did not use the pool or hot tub. There's ample parking and a lot of space out back if you have kids that need to run around.

We stayed at the Norwester Hotel while driving home from Manitoba. We stayed in the Family Suite it was spacious and comfortable. The view from the balcony was breath taking, looking right out at the Sleeping Giant. My kids enjoyed the pool, although the shallow end was a bit deep for my youngest. The beds are incredible - exactly what we needed after a day of driving, and another two days ahead of us.

Well worth the extra 4 minutes drive off the main drag to this gem of a hotel. It is only a few dollars more than the Best WEstern on the main drag... and is much, much nicer. Rooms clean, staff very kind and helpful. The property is beautiful and faces a wonderful cliff and has walking paths that our stunning and soothing after a long days drive. The pool and hot tub were terrific and the free breakfast in the restaurant was top notch! Would return again and again!

This year I decided to take a trip out west. So Day 1 we made the push from Toronto to Thunder bay. I only had two weeks to do this so I didn`t want to mess around. I left Toronto at 3:00 am and arrived at 8:00 pm. Of all of the places that I`ve stayed at in the Thunder Bay area, It`s this place I like the best. It's not cheap but it`s consistently satisfactory. I`ve stayed here three times now and they`ve never disappointed me. It`s a little bit out of the way from town but it`s somewhat close to the airport. The facility is located on a large parcel of land in a country setting. Twice I've deer on the property. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the beds are comfy. The staff is always friendly and attentive to your needs. I`ve always reserved a business class room and received a breakfast coupon that can be redeemed at their restaurant which is a bonus. Just about everything of the menu can be ordered. I recommend it. It`s a great place to stay.

Have stayed at this Best Western Plus property on several occasions now. I booked while on the road andmy booking was handled withexcellent speed and professionalism. Check in was fantastic with the reception staff going out of her way to provide me with a ground floor unit that I requested. The restaurant staff were exceptional at dinner and breakfast. After a long travel day of eight hours, we were greeted by Carla and Tania at the front desk. They gave us a room. When we went up we realized we were facing the road instead of mountains. We went back down and the front desk ladies were again so courteous. They very kindly looked and found and alternative for us. Much appreciated. The hotel is clean and really quite beautiful. Great restaurant, great staff!!!!

Beautiful hotel beneath Mt. McKay. Front desk staff and housekeeping were standouts. Staff went out of their way to make me feel at home. I loved Thunder Bay and this hotel was instrumental in establishing those feelings from the onset.

Arrived very late at night to this quaint and well-appointed hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, with great beds. We didn't take advantage of the large pool, but do enjoy the breakfast in the onsite restaurant, as well as the beautiful views from the east-facing lawn of the cliffs in the distance. So quiet and a quick exit in the morning to the Trans-Canada. Wi-fi was solid, as was a/c.

This is a wonderful place for couples, families or people passing through on business. There's something here for everyone! You won't be disappointed- there is a breathtaking view, a wide variety breakfast and dinner menu.. and don't forget the pool!

The Norwester is worth the trip outside the city, as it only takes 5-10 minutes from the airport. The hotel is of great quality and is nicer than most of the other airport hotels in the area. Staff is nice and offers a shuttle service. Highly recommended.

Front Desk staff were friendly, accommodating, informative, interested, interesting, Just wonderful. The Cliff Hanger restaurant served excellent breakfasts and light dinners. The clear country air just added it all.

Our car club hosted a large event, booking the whole hotel and we were extremely pleased with the support with all aspects of the event and were told by those in attendance that the accommodations were very comfortable and clean. This was the 8th time we have held the event in this location, feels like home.

From the outside it doesn't look special, BUT once you enter this hotel it is a very welcome surprise. The inside and outside sitting areas are nicely furnished as a place to enjoy a chat with a drink and a snack or even your complete meal. We found the rooms to be roomy and comfortable. However, it was our dining experiences that impressed us the most. We had very tasty meals in the dining room served by capable and personable wait staff. Be sure to get a room rate that includes breakfast which allows you to select from most of the wonderful items on their regular menu. It must be said that the two receptionists at the front desk were wonderful to interact with. Since all the employees we interacted with ranged from pleasant to lots of fun, the rest of the staff is likely to behave likewise.

As a facilitator at a corporate meeting, event staff make the difference between a stressful, chaotic session full of unwanted surprises and one that is successful, positive and smoothly executed. This venue delivers! It was such a pleasure to arrive after travelling hundreds of kilometers to find the meeting room set up (the day before) with all audio visual equipment hooked up and working, seating arrangements organized, facilitator and catering tables set and staff able to answer questions and tend to any other requests. Thank you to Caren and the event staff for tending to every detaill! In fact, every member of staff I had contact with were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff gave me a room so quiet, I could have slept for a week and did everything they could to make my stay pleasant. Both airport courtesy van drivers I had were polite, chatty, timely and safe drivers. Bar staff in the restaurant were cheery and hospitable. My room was basic but spotless and comfortable and quiet. My meal at the restaurant was tasty, delicious and great value. I wish I could have stayed longer to use the fitness centre and pool and hike in the area. This place is my #1 hotel in Thunder Bay hands down. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone holding a corporate event in the area.

In May, the Best Western Plus Nor'Wester Hotel and Conference Center provided a wonderful venue for the marriage of our children. The physical setting is beautiful, however it was the staff and the services they provided that were instrumental in creating a memorable event. We appreciated all the expert advice given to us by the staff members involved with catering this wedding. Many of our out of town guests commented positively on the hotel, their lovely and comfortable rooms, and the helpful friendly staff. This allowed our guests to relax and enjoy the planned wedding events. It began with an amazing rehearsal dinner. From the prime rib sliders, and the very special veggie sliders to the gelato dessert bar, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable and all our special requests were granted with no hesitation. On the day of the wedding, the weather forced a change in the ceremony location. The bride and groom were given the time and space to come up with a decision on exactly where the ceremony would be held. Meanwhile, staff members readied both locations, keeping in mind that a number of props would need to be shuffled around! When the decision was made they fulfilled the Bride and Groom's wishes without hesitation and were quickly able to create the atmosphere the couple desired for their special ceremony. Flexibility and support at a critical time! The Chef and his crew did an outstanding job. The post ceremony reception appetizers tasted just as good as they looked. The absolutely delicious meal prompted countless rave reviews for each course of this extraordinary dinner. We thank all of you for helping to make this a truly special occasion! The P/B families

Room was great. People were friendly. The only negative was the first night stay was 162.72 Friday night. On my way back through on the following monday it was 198.32. This was after the desk clerk said if I signed up for a rewards program I would receive a 10% discount. Other than that it was a good place to stay.

Amazing stay! I was originally booked at the Travelodge, but special thanks to Cory and the staff who were able to accommodate us last minute. Picturesque views of Mount McKay and 15min from downtown Thunder Bay!

Restful, peaceful, and a hotel where service to customers is important. They always ask if you need anything in particular during your stay or if they can help you to find your way around the city. They know where they work and where they live and that is a great thing.

really good but double bed was to small for us. .but it knew that it was a double bed when I booked. I wanted a front facing room when I booked same side as enterance but she gave me mountain facing room so she changed it to ft facing room.

This property was a time warp from 1973. My room was very tired and dated. The bed was not the best. Unfortunately we heard our upstairs neighbors through the night as well as people in the halls. The staff seemed cold and aloof. This property is a good deal outside Thunder Bay. Will not recommend it.

Best western by far is the best hotel to stay at. Very affordable. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Pool was great condition. Maid service did an excellent job. Traveled with two toddlers when we needed something they were they to help out.

My wife and I spent a night at the hotel and we were more than happy. The biggest highlight was the free upgrade to the King suite because we were celebrating our anniversary. Would definitely come back!

This the the perfect place for people travelling on medical, business or on a family trip! The mountain view is always a pleasant sight in the morning and at dusk. I would highly recommend this place, if you are travelling to the Thunder Bay area!

Love the location and space at this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable bit the bathroom is quite small. Unfortunately there was work being done right across from our room which was extremely noisy. Also a noisy heater in the room. We used the pool area which was very busy. The hot tub was closed initially but opened later on looking extremely dirty. We had dinner across the road at the Neebing Roadhouse and did not try the restaurant. Overall an ok stay.

The room - I stayed here for 5 nights while taking a course at the hotel. The room was clean and in great condition. Housekeeping showed real attention to detail which I appreciated. The room had a fridge and a microwave. If you can, ask for a room with a view - the area is breathtaking. (My room had the parking lot and a shed, but the conference room and restaurant had great views.) The facilities - The pool and gym are open to the public, so they can be busy, and it's sort of a different experience to go for a swim during children's swimming lessons! It's well kept. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful (Corey on 2 occasions especially), and the women working in the restaurant were lovely. One complaint - I had a bit of sticker shock one morning when their exhaust fans were broken and I was forced to order under-done toast, one cup of coffee, and a small bowl of cottage cheese (or be late for my course if I went elsewhere) and had it ring up at $11+tax and tip. I ate in the restaurant a couple of other times and the prices, while still on the high side, weren't quite as jaw dropping - and the food was excellent each time. The conference facilities on the second floor were lovely. The area - My husband stays here frequently on business, and loves the view and the peace and quiet of the rural area. My obligations took me into Thunder Bay a lot during this trip, and I found the drive a bit much, depending on where you need to be. There is one more bar/restaurant nearby (if you want to walk across a busy highway), but everything else is definitely further.

Best place to stay by a country mile. Staff make you feel valued and are so cheerful. Everything from checking in (quick and easy), to our room. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Noise level was minimal (and there was a few hockey teams staying during our stay). Restaurant meals were very pleasant, fast friendly service. Pools, sauna and hot tub were were clean (hot tub was refilled and cleaned after the hockey team left????. Overall stay was excellent. Couldn't find anything worth mentioning that would be negative.

Even though there was several young hockey teams staying the counter staff allowed us to have a room near the end of the of hall avoiding the chance of evening noise. Our wifi seemed to crash at 10am but that may have been due to our location.

The pool and sauna were well maintained and the hotel had a lovely rural feeling to it - with beautiful views of the outdoors through the spacious windows. It is a ways out of town, but I appreciated the country setting. The restaurant was good and there are several other eateries nearby.

Stayed here in August on our way to Ottawa and just stayed here again on our way home and it was fantastic again. From the check in to check out they ensure that your stay is perfect. We are travelling with our Labrador retriever and this is the best place to stay with a dog. There are inner corridors but also doors to the outside making it very easy to get your dog outside in a hurry. The room service menu had changed but the food we ordered was too notch. The mushroom ravioli in a brown butter white wine sauce was delicious as was my husband's fettuccine alfredo. We were given a coupon for a free sit down breakfast that was served by Mary Ann with a smile and a look to see what you may need. Just a really great hotel with lovely staff, a great area to walk your dog, clean and quiet rooms and amazing restaurant. Again, well done!

Overall my stay at this hotel was very good!. Helpful & friendly staff, food was good, clean, nice rooms. The location of the hotel is on the outskirts of Thunder Bay so if you don't have your own vehicle I would suggest to rent if you need to do any other things while there (shopping, etc.)

Sleep stay eat play ski hike bike ride a horse a motorcycle a bicycle. Norwester is the place to stay. The view cannot be beaten in this city. Staff are very friendly and sincerely treat you like a hotel guest not like a customer at a box store. Beautiful location for an event or family wedding. Rooms cleaned well by staff and maintenance people keep the grounds up professionally.

Great place to stay for a quiet relaxing night 10 minutes south of Tbay makes it a nice quiet get away! The fitness center looked great i just didn't make it in there! Pool is big and refreshing very clean, hot tub was closed as it had just been cleaned out. Restaurant was quick and good especially the homemade Cheesecake.

Had a very good supper & breakfast meals. Excellent grounds for walking & relaxing. Staff very accessible & helpful. Comfortable room with all amenities working properly. Enjoyed the pool area. Excellent parking area.

I travel to Thunder Bay often and have stayed at many hotels out there. The Norwester is my favorite place to stay and Brenda at the front desk has always made sure that my stay was as comfortable as can be. Clean rooms and great staff, and a decent restaurant on site. They're 10 minutes away from the airport and offer free shuttle to and from. I highly recommend the Norwester when in Thunder Bay.

Loved it. The Hotel is approx. 10 km. out of town. The stay at the Hotel far outweighs the distance. The front desk staff were very helpful. The restaurant staff were excellent, as was the meal. The room was very clean, and had all the amenities. Overall experience. EXCELLENT.

our second stay here. Rooms are nice, clean... views at the back of the property are wonderful. Staff was very attentive and helpful, meeting our requests with enthusiasm. Needed a ground floor room, and they moved us to provide it, in the midst of a busy time for them.

Room was clean and view was great (Sleeping Giant) Staff very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast there 3 morning in a row and it was hot and quick! Would stay there again when I am back in Thunder Bay an that is the best recommendation I can give.

We have stayed at this hotel every time we come to Thunder Bay. Its is hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed at ANYWHERE! Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself, and the rooms are immaculate and tastefully decorated. We have stayed in 1st floor and 2nd floor rooms and they are all quiet rooms, never hear any noise from adjacent rooms or hallways. Food in the restaurant is delicious! Pool is spacious and very clean! The grounds are also beautiful and the view of the mountain is breathtaking. Can't say enough good things about this establishment.

This place is away from all the hustle of downtown area very quiet, relaxing, and the view is amazing .. there is a great restaurant in the premises which has a variety of food in the menu from breakfast to dinner ,, my favourite is the cliffhanger club sandwich

I have stayed at this hotel in the past and once again the service was top notch. Very helpfull staff when I checked in I asked if there was a chance I could get a spoon and the lady at check in was going to walk over to the resturante to get me one and I told her I would do it that was very nice. Price was very good it was just a overall good experience only reason the hotel got a 10 was because there wasn't a 11 offered. Will stay there next time Iam in town well down.

An excellent place to stay. Clean and comfortable rooms with a great view from the balcony. Nice restaurant that serves good food. Decor was beautiful as well. Quiet easy to navigate in Thunder Bay also.

This is by far the best hotel experience I've ever had. It's a bit pricey and worth every penny. The staff, the restaurant, the restaurant staff....everything about it is amazing. If you ever visit Thunder Bay, this is a must.

We had originally tried to stay at the Best Western at the Crossroads, but found it to be booked solid. The staff checked the Nor'Wester and found us a room on short notice. After a long day of driving it was a quiet welcome respite. The room was great with a fantastic view. The evening meal was excellent and the staff was very courteous and helpful. So much so that we booked a room there for our return trip and had the same great time. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so enjoyable

Was searching trip advisor for cheapest hotel with a pool and some had some really bad reviews regarding noise. (couldn't figure out why people don't complain about it, instead of just writing bad review?) With that in mind I decided to stay at the Norwester as I had been there before. Checking in, I was greeted by the sweetest staff! Ordered room service, order was taken by a nice kid, who also delivered it. Played in the pool and went to bed. At 1:30am I was woken up by some VERY loud guests. Remembered thinking "why didn't the others, at different hotels call about it?" I called and spoke to (I think michelle) and whispered (so as not to wake the kids) that there was some VERY load guests somewhere close. She was so sweet and said, "we don't tolerate that" and apologized and said she would take care of it. Not 2 minutes later, I hear a VERY stern knock in the distance, and then nothing! Went back to sleep with a smile and got up and had a fantastic breakfast. This hotel is worth the money and the views are spectacular! Staff is wonderful!

This is a place that I would return to. Great staff, good food, it's attractive inside and outside. Went walking and you could walk around the building. I was at the hotel in October, and so I didn't get to sit outside on their sundeck, but it overlooks a field and there are mountains at the back. It was colorful. The rooms and beds are also comfortable. There is access to go outside on a balcony. FYI: It's a shared balcony.

I can't imagine a nicer place !! It's quiet ,clean . The staff from top to bottom so so nice !! The view an location unbelievable just love this place. It's close to everything you want to see !!! Thank you for an awesome experience!!

Great Hotel! Especially if you are traveling with children and dogs! Very accommodating,the checkin staff exceptional! We had breakfast in the restaurant the morning we left and the waitresses were wonderful! If you stop in Thunder Bay, be sure to check this hotel out! We will be back! 5 Stars for sure!

I recently travelled to Thunder Bay to attend my sister's wedding which was held at the Norwester. Service was exceptional. The venue for the wedding was fantastic plus the views including the fall foliage beautiful and the dinner was delicious. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Highly recommend the Clifhanger restaurant! Special thanks to Roberta and Karyn for making my sister's day so special. Highly recommend the Norwester for your next stay in Thunder Bay!

The hotel is a bit out of the way but for me a few minutes one way or the other was not a big deal. The room was nice and clean, and the free breakfast was quite good. The staff through out my stay were excellent. Overall a pleasant surprise.

Location is way off the beaten track,and you had to drive through Thunder bay twice to get to and from the Hwy. Hotel is old , rooms are small , A/C poor and noisy. restaurant food poor. Steaks anyway. Parking was hard and crowded we got the last room as did others

Stayed at this hotel on October 4,2017 and was pleasantly surprised. I usually stay at holiday inns for their reward program, I will investigate Best Western program. This particular Best Western has a beautiful location on the outskirts of Thunder Bay/ The staff were excellent. Nice property.

Best Western is most accommodating. We found ourselves in a situation where we needed a room really quickly. Because of certain circumstances, we had not known this would happen and, therefore, had not made reservations. The Best Western went out of their way to find us a room.

The front desk staff was very friendly. the gentleman(Cory) was pleasant and also competed us a free breakfast because we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Our room was very comfortable and the property as a whole was beautiful. Sadly our experience in the Cliffhanger restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was horrible. The servers at both meals ignored us and the main meal at supper was sub par. In hind sight we would have rather walked across the street and eaten at another restaurant.

Great place to stay. Peacefull, clean and comfortable. Beautiful view, Beautiful Hotel just on the outskirts of Thunder Bay. I will definetly stay again when visiting Thunder Bay. You may be lucky enough to see some wildlife in the back of the hotel.

Excellence in customer service! Cory at the front desk was an absolute joy! He is every employers' and guest dream . Accommodations were great! Breakfast hit the spot as you could order off the menu and it was included in your stay. All of the staff were friendly. We had a great experience at this location.

Checking in was a breeze, the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was a dream to sleep in. Very important after a long hard day on the road. We also ate in the attached restaurant dinner and breakfast which was very convenient. Checking out the next morning, Dana, the clerk at the front desk asked where we were heading next. We told her that we were heading to Sault St. Marie and were hoping to stay in the Best Western Water Tower Inn but they were showing that they were booked up. Dana asked if we would like her to try calling them to see if she could do something for us. She not only got us the room we wanted but got us an upgrade to boot. AMAZING service that you don't see enough of any more. Thank you Dana. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, all of the staff that we encountered at the front desk and in the restaurant were top notch.

For a Best Western, this was a nice hotel. The location is absolutely beautiful with the view of the mountains and the pond/lake on the grounds. Our room was on the back so it was quiet as well as clean and spacious. A great choice for lodging in Thunder Bay.

They do not follow therr animal policy and will charge you extra then there animal fee days after you check out. I contacted the manager and she decided that i was not good enough for her so she had her assistant call me. He said he would look into it but never called back its now been 7 days

This hotel is beautifully appointed and spacious. The restaurant is top notch. The staff are very friendly and accommodating in both the hotel and restaurant. Food is amazing and breakfast a cut above. The grounds are beautiful. I could spend a week there.

We have stayed here numerous times on our way north for fishing and I have never had any regrets. The reservation process accommodated my room preference. The room was very clean and comfortable. Check in was fast and the staff was very courteous. The breakfast was awesome and the wait staff was very attending and friendly. I will be back for sure.

This well-managed and clean facility on the edge of Thunder Bay offered a friendly and accommodating staff right from the start of our stay, which we extended due to this great service. The accompanying restaurant and lounge offered the same fine service with genuine friendliness at a reasonable price. Indoor and outdoor seating provided great environment near mountain to the east. Brenda, manager, adjusted to our need for a better room location and stood ready to handle any other requests, such as a courtesy shave cream. Staff working with her showed the same ability to remedy any issue, big or small. Good to encounter such kindness. God service in restaurant. Only complaint: Unacceptable "cranberry" juice.

The staff here was excellent. As the group leader of our trip, we were upgraded to a suite that was wonderful. Having a quality restaurant on site was very nice and breakfast was very good. We were able to enjoy a quiet, clean pool and hot tub. The location is very easy to get too as well.

Great hotel awesome pool, great breakfast food, close to restaurants, large hot tub, stayed in the wispering pines suite, would recommend. Will be our goto hotel while staying in Thunder Bay for now on.

Nice clean rooms, parking lot is laid out a little weirdly but worth staying at, only thing is your about 15 minutes away from the actual city. So if you plan to order in your limited to Pizza Hut or there restaurant that is on site.

The hotel property is beautiful. The restaurant has very good food and drinks. The rooms (and hotel overall) are clean and comfortable. Whenever we fly out of Thunder Bay, we like to stay at the Norwester the night before. You can leave your vehicle there while you are gone and they provide a shuttle service to and from the airport.

A sensational place to stay. The lobby, rooms, staff and dining room were all awesome. The meals were great and served by very friendly staff. The young lady at the check-in desk was so very smiley and helpful. As the rooms seem to gave been very recently rebovated with new bedding it made it seem so inviting. Definitely no problem with any part of our stay!

The manager was so helpful, we were in expectedly turned away from another hotel for over booking and The manager at the norwester hotel helped fit us in with some discounts. He remembered our names and checked with us the next few days... plus free poop bags for our dog!

Always try to stay here on way to Armstrong with group I fish with. Always clean and for a hotel restaurant the food is actually quite good so we don't have to drive into town for dinner or breakfast. Staff is also very helpful

Short stay here for a little anniversary/ wife's birthday trip. Everyone was extremely nice and we were given the Mt. McKay suite , which was incredible! My wife said it had the best shower in the world! We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were good. Tried Poutine for the first time. Very good but I'm sure my doctor wouldn't approve ; ( . The waitress/ bartender was great! She was game for making some new cocktails and did them justice. Overall we loved it and we will surely stay again if we are in Thunder Bay.

The facility was very nice and clean. The room was noisy between the traffic in the hall and the vibrations in the ventilation system. Unfortunately, sleeping was a trial. The staff was very friendly, especially in the restaurant. Food was good.

Good hotel. Convenient restaurant on premises for late arrivals. Of three rooms allocated one was not what was specified in the reservation which made me wonder if the clerk even looked at the reservation. The room allocated was a pet friendly one on the ground floor. The clerk "thought" our party had a pet. Thought?

Our stay was very comfortable in a two room suite. Comfortable beds, quiet room, good ammenities, convenient parking and very clean. There is a nice outdoor deck by a small fountain pond. It's a nice place to bring a cooler of food and drinks. Front desk staff had the ultimate mix of professionalism and friendliness. I'd stay there again.

The hotel was located in beautiful surroundings. The exercise facilities were superb. Our room had was suitable for elderly or people with handicapping conditions. We especially loved the breakfast because patrons can choose almost anything on the menu.

We have been to the Norwester once or twice a year for the past couple of years. It is a great location, the facility is well kept, the pool/sauna area is great! Staff are wonderful! Highly recommend!

Beautiful setting for a summer wedding outside. The grounds are beautiful with the background of Evergreen trees, fountain and mountains. The staff were so interested in what was happening and wished the couple the best. They almost felt like part of the family. The motel was convenient to the airport and on a main highway, easy access to places like Terry Fox Monument etc.

reception was just ok but we specifically asked about hot tub and pool facilities and were told yes all is open and given hours they were open.The following morning the hot tub was empty so I was upset because not advised it would be closed in morning. One staff member told me oh it is closed on Thursday mornings for cleaning. So why were we not advised of this on check in on Wednesday? No consideration for their guests, especially when we specifically asked about the facilities.Came across like they did not care about our interest but we only book hotels that have hot tub and pool to use! General Manager had the look on her face that she was not even listening or caring about our feelings. so we wil lnot be using Best Western chain anymore.

This motel is fantastic, the grounds are like a park and the staff were great The pool and hot tub were clean and warm, the room was clean and comfortable and the bed was comfortable. The Wi-Fi was wireless and easy to connect to and was reasonably fast. I will defiantly stay there again if I am in the area.

WE have stayed at the Norwester several times over a number of years - my location of choice in T Bay. Always a good place. This last trip was extra special as we got a few extras and treated really well. e.g. we promptly got a room change when we asked to have an external door...

We've stayed at this hotel several times over the years, and on our recent road road to Vancouver, we stayed there again twice! After a long days drive, the last thing you want is to search for a restaurant. This hotel has a restaurant that is open late, you can park your car just outside your room and take your luggage in, the room has a view of the hill and pond behind the hotel, they have a pool, their bathrooms are properly ventilated with bathroom heat lamps, and most of all - the staff at the reception and the restaurant are friendly and great people to deal with! We will stay here again when we visit Thunder Bay.

We rented three rooms for six guys going fishing. The nights sleep was ok. But when we went for breakfast at 6:10am they said it didn't open untill 6:30 so we left without anything and headed on down the road to find something to eat.

The rural setting for the Best Western Plus Norwester not only adds to the overall ambiance of the hotel, but is perfect for achieving the peace and quiet one looks for in a get-a-way. As we had to wait a few minutes for our room, we were offered a much appreciated free beverage in the restaurant.

I mention I was with my wife and it was our 2nd anniversary. They tried giving us the honeymoon suite but since I was using my aero plan points she wasn't able to give that room to us, so she treated us to a free breakfast. I really wasn't excepting anything but was grateful for the offer. I am sorry I didn't get her name but thanks to her.

Booked two rooms for one night at last minute on Travelocity. I wanted to check it out before committing. It was great. Breakfast and servers are fantastic. When I wanted to reserve my two rooms for another night, the front desk went above. Offered multiple rooms for us to move to. I was very impressed with the place and service since the price of rooms was lower than other accommodations in Thunder Bay.

Nice place to stop on way through Thunder Bay. Great complimentary breakfast was a really nice surprise. Staff was very friendly even late at night. We needed a first floor room and even though we came after 10 they were able to accommodate.

When Air Canada's terrible customer service has left you feeling sour, let this place restore your faith in the travel industry. After our flights were canceled, we booked here from the airport. The staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. A front desk agent jumped in the shuttle to pick us up within ten minutes of our booking. The restaurant was very good, we had a nice view from our room and the front desk even comped us an early morning taxi for our flight.

We always have an excellent stay at the Best Western NorWester in Thunder Bay. The staff is always cheerful, even when we arrive late at night. The restaurant is open early enough to get us on the road again for a long drive ahead.The location is very relaxing and the view is great. Our favourite hotel in the City.

Staff is very courteous and accommodating, rooms are very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend staying here. Food very good at restaurant and the staff is very quick on placing your food order. From one to five I would rate this hotel at a four.

This was a gem on our drive from Calgary to PEI. Michelle at the front desk went above and beyond by making sure checkout was the simplest and that we were all set for an early morning start. This was a beautiful, smart, immaculate hotel that feels more like a small resort after a long day of driving.

This hotel is located just south of Thunder Bay. The staff was great and the place very clean/well kept. A great place to get a good nights sleep. We only stayed one night (traveling through), but if we were in the area for ant length of time we'd definitely stay here again.

This Hotel is located on the edge of Thunder Bay. Although not located on Lake Superior, it is scenic, none the less. We were able to take a nice walk around the property and down the road to enjoy nature. We had a fine dinner at the Hotel Restaurant, where the service was good. The pool and sauna were popular. Our room was very nice. At about 12:45 am we were awakened by some late arrivers attempting to enter OUR room. They promptly left after I informed them that they were at the wrong room.I was initially frightened when in this situation, but it turned out fine. I'm not sure if this is the fault of Best Western management, as I don't know whether or not they were drunk. But, if they were, I would suggest accompanying such individuals to their room to assure that they quietly find the correct room. We were able to order breakfast off the menu the next morning. It was good but the restaurant was under-staffed at the time. I would definitely stay here again.

While in Thunder Bay to attend a wedding, I stayed at this hotel. They gave me a bit of a discount, because my sister booked the reception at their hall. I chose not to pay extra for the breakfast, but that option was there. They had a pretty good work out facility, and swimming area. Nice scenery for taking wedding photos. I've heard that some people had problems with the management, but as far as I know, my sister, and brother-in-law didn't. I would recommend this hotel.

We recently stayed at the Best Western,Thunder Bay.The room was well cleaned and the service at the restaurant was good. The front desk service was efficient and helpful. It was a stay one will remember as we were treated so well when we were leaving . The manager came out to the porch to send us off and before that asked if we had a good stay.We never had such a warm send off in all out stays as a frequent traveler.

We arrived at the nor wester after traveling from Dryden and were welcomed at the reception desk with a very nice girl , we had dinner on the patio and enjoyed the view,breakfast was included and we Could order off the menu it was delicious and the service was great ! The girl at the pool area was very attentive and amazing! ,

The room was emaculate with every amenity you might need. Lived that there were 2 bathroom sinks and lots of mirrors and plugs. People can get ready while someone else is in the shower. It would have been nice to have coffee in the lobby for guests who didnt buy breakfast but otherwise perfect!

Great hotel with view of bluffs. If you prefer to stay in less congested areas, then check this hotel out. Good sized rooms, many with a balcony, are clean and comfortable. Comes with credit for made-to-order breakfast. Stayed only one night but was a pleasant experience.

After a very long drive we arrived at the hotel to find no parking. There was a high school graduation going on apparently. It was raining and we had small children with us, had to push through all these teenagers to even get into the door to the lobby. Waited at the desk as the receptionist took her time talking to her friend beside us. Finally got to our room, beautiful view with access to outside. But it was dark and the carpet was wet by the patio doors. No breakfast included and the restaurant was pricey and took a long time. Will not be staying here again.

This was a very nice hotel. The pool and sauna area was very well maintained. The view from our room was magnificent. Staff was very helpful and very friendly. Located on the outskirts of town so not a lot of traffic to contend with.

Driving out west and decided to spend the day and evening in Thunder Bay Nice spot just outside the city. Close enough to drive in for dinner and a movie but far enough away that it is quiet and peaceful vs hustle of hotels in the city center.

Room had a queen size bed and excellent internet. Slept well even though my neighbor was a bit active and I had to wake up early for the flight out. Only stayed one night but I wish I had stayed longer! High quality compared to the other Best Western and other hotels that I stayed at for work the previous 8 days. Seven minute (roughly) drive from the airport, gas station a crossing over, and restaurants within a 2 minute drive. Did not eat at in-hotel restaurant but room service was offered. Hotel staff were very helpful in providing information and signed me up for a rewards program. My phone fell in a lake and I needed to remove my SIM card. The receptionist gave me several paperclips so I could do this (iPhone needs a paperclip for SIM removal).

This is the second time staying here, and I really liked it! The bad: the booking through the main number (Phoenix,AZ)--awful!! 18+min on the phone and no booking...staff there incompetent to do this...please change that process, it takes away from the great site! The good? Everything else! The staff on site were wonderful :) The location is great for me-nice grounds, and pet friendly :) Beautiful greens for the 4-legged ones. Quiet rooms, fair prices, comfortable beds, and easy outdoor access for pets, loading and unloading vehicles. The rooms are very clean, which is a big must-have. Parking very plentiful. AC, decent cable, room storage great. Would definitely return!

Great location for overnight stop. Best Western always provides comfortable rooms, good breakfast and good locations. Mainstay for summer travel. Travelling across Canada this summer and Best Western is our preferred accommodation

I really enjoyed my stay here, they go all out and it is not ridiculously expensive. It is pet-friendly for a fee ($20?) and the daily rates are not too bad. It is on the outskirts of town, near Mount McKay, a location I prefer. Everyone who worked there was friendly. Great tv and room. Lots of land to walk your dog. Two good restaurants you can walk to including the one in the building.

I stayed at the NorWester three nights for a business trip that took me across Northern Ontario. As a frequent business traveller I am very particular about where I stay. The hotel was clean, the service was excellent and the food (and servers) in the restaurant was great (try the Pickerel Dinner or Pickerel sticks if you have a chance). I was lucky enough to get upgraded to a Suite for the last night. It was an exceptional room and great for getting work done while on the road. I have my new go to place to stay when I am in Thunder Bay.

My kids loved the pool. It was large enough for them to practice. The staff was wonderful and attentive to our needs. Having a menu to choose from for breakfast instead of buffet style was a bonus for our free breakfast.

Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms were great, and the breakfast was wonderful. Was in Thunder Bay for a concert and could not have asked for better accommodations. The staff was extremely helpful in getting us transportation to and from the concert.

Our fishing group has been coming to Ontario for 20 years and our first stop is always the Best Western Nor'wester in Thunder Bay. The staff are courteous, friendly, and professional and have gone the extra mile to ensure we are happy with our stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is ideal for our needs. I would definitely recommend BW Nor'wester to anyone travelling to Thunder Bay!

This hotel could use updating. The workout facility is great, but the rest of the place is a mix of updated and out of date. Pretty hard to find a great place in Thunder Bay, though. Service was excellent.

Great location. We visited for a family wedding. We also visited area parks. Best Western was central to our family plans. Used the pool for a family pool party the evening prior to the wedding. Couldn't have had a better time. You assisted our family in building memories of a very special occasion.

For 20+ years I and a group of 22-24 fisherman per year have been a guest at the Norwester on our annual fishing trip to Holinshead Outfitter ( best kept secret for great fishing) . We stay at the Best Western Nor western Hotel right across the street. The service is always top notch. Being foreigners despite most of us being from Minnesota Canada is still a foreign country. We are always made to feel at home. Whoever is in charge of hiring the staff is to be commended. Every year we are met with a friendly cordial fun loving staff..... Suzie the front desk greeter has been there long enough that she recognizes us as we walk through the door. She is one of the bright spots of our visits. She even remembers some of the deceased member of our group by name. We always stay on Fathers Day Weekend in the middle of wedding season so the hotel is always bust. Never the less we get great service Perhaps the biggest compliment that can be made is that they have kept 20 customers coming back for so long.

Have stayed many times, but recently they added a breakfast with rental. This is great, the best breakfast deal in the north, order from the menu and served to your table, worth the price. Quiet location. Clean room. Pleasant staff, quick check out appreciated.

If you prefer a quiet atmosphere, this is a great place to stay. I find it relaxing for both business and leisure. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant has a small but nice choice of food and the food is excellent. Definitely would stay here again!

First time at this establishment and I was very impressed with the good quality of the hotel, everyone was very friendly and helpful... I will decently Wii e staying there again for my next stay in Edmonton. They also have a restaurant where you can have a decent meal.

This was my second stay at the hotel and this time, I remembered why I had tried to avoid the property. The rooms are great, the staff is lovely, however as a business traveller I have to be up and out the door by 7 AM when I'm in town. Which means that neither the fitness centre neither the restaurant are open early enough for me to make any use of them. Even if they were open 30 minutes earlier at 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM respectively, then I would have time to get a workout in and eat breakfast before I left for work. Another alternative, would be to make a continental breakfast station with coffee and Muffins available before the main restaurant opened.

Great service, great rooms, nicely appointed with terrific views and friendly guests! The best part was the decor, and the friendly staff going out of their way to help out with any concerns, or needs such as breakfast times and location of restaurant and the workout gym and conference areas. Over all a very very enjoyable 2 day stay at Best Western Norwester Hotel

We booked this hotel for the pool experience to find that it is being renovated. Disappointing but we were given a room upgrade and free breakfast. The restaurant food was ok and portions are large. However we had to return the pizza because it was not cooked. The waitress was awesome and gave us a discount on our bill. Overall staff were fantastic, room great, food is ok, location is near airport but out of the way from city traffic.

Goes above and beyond to ensure that the guests are comfortable. Restaurant is excellent for all meals. Staff is amazingly friendly, and caring. Always pleasant, always smiling. Looking forward to doing it all again next year.

So inconsiderate and completely inexcusable. We were excited to travel and we chose this hotel based on their pool, spa and sauna. After driving for hours, we checked in and were informed at the desk by a small sign that the pool was closed. 2 kids, pouring rain, and no pool! Desk staff blamed the website for 'not putting it up there'. They had our phone number, our e-mail, but never once notified us of the closure. Even after we expressed our dismay, nothing was offered. At check out, we again stated how disappointed we wee, at which point desk staff said, 'you can come back when it's finished in July'. Sorry, you've lost our business forever.

This hotel has excellent staff. We stayed in a suite with excellent features. The living area was very functional and bright with a view to wide open space with pond and lawn. Parking was adjacent to the room. The bedroom was roomy with large bed, TV and night stands. The bathroom was very bright with large shower with multiple water outlets and jets. A separate mini washroom was very functional. Overall, the experience, accommodations and staff were excellent.

Just in ThunderBay for the weekend, for a wedding. Hotel is close to airport and the Country Club venue. Was disappointed to know there were no discounts due to the pool and hot tub being out of commission. At least if we were discounted, our invoiced didn't reflect that. :( The hotel presents as a motel, in appearance, so we dismissed it's appearance at first glance. Easy access via side door, restaurant staff were pleasant and efficient. This location is not close to downtown, or many of the sight-seeing locations such as Kakabeka Falls, the downtown waterfront, the Sleeping Giant Park or Terry Fox memorial. Easy to get to, but a minimum of a 20 min drive to these locations.

I travel through Thunder Bay often and always try to stay at the Best Western Plus NorWester because the staff are so helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The rooms are always very clean and well equipped with nice linens and a very comfortable bed. The restaurant has very good food and the staff there are also very pleasant. Prices are reasonable for the food and the quantity of food is more than I expected. The hotel is clean, well decorated which provides a warmth not found in other hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This very attractive motel is right on the highway and is in a beautiful setting. They have a very inviting sitting area with a scenic view of the surroundings. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The room was attractive and very comfortable. We had made reservations on the road and got a great deal on our room. They have their own restaurant and we felt that the prices were very reasonable unlike other places that feature their own restaurant.

Very good experience! We were having a conference there, tasty food, quiet rooms, although the pool was not available at the moment, I burnt some calories in the gym. Customer service is really nice and warm. "thumb up"

Spent the nite left the car at the holel and was driven to the airport the next day. When we returned we were picked up and driven back to our room. No charge for the taxi and no charge for parking. The room was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to staying there again.

Originally we were planning on staying here 2 nights however due to the awful customer service from the supervisor we will be leaving tomorrow. The room is nice however we drove 9 hours and were looking forward to the spa facilities. This was not clearly marked in the booking site and we are extremely disappointed with the attitude and way this was dealt with. Regulars that won't be back .

This has been our hotel of choice for the past three years and it has never disappointed. The facilities and guest rooms are very clean and well maintained and the scenery surrounding the property is breathtaking. All of the staff are warm, friendly and courteous and they ensure that each guest is made to feel valued and welcomed. The food in the restaurant is consistently fresh and made to order and also offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The hotel is conveniently located just a 10 minute drive away from shopping centres, etc while offering its guests the quiet tranquility of the rural area in which it is located. We will continue to make this property our "home away from home" for years to come and would highly recommend it to our friends, families and anyone else who is looking for pleasant, clean and comfortable hotel accomodations in Thunder Bay.

I have been raving about this hotel since my recent stay. All staff from front desk to restaurant and cleaning get 5 stars for friendliness, attention to detail and genuinely caring about their guests.The only comparison I can make is previous stays at The Fairmont. Yeah, staff are at that level. The setting is perfect if you prefer to be a little bit away from the action and enjoy a hike/run behind the hotel to the Loch Lomond ski area. Shuttle to/from airport came in handy and staff were very prompt and courteous.

This is like a lovely lodge in amongst stunning scenery. It has a nice cosy, friendly feel. The staff were super friendly, quick to bring extra pillows and a robe to wear to pool. I have a bad back and I used the pool, sauna and hot tub which was a very welcome relief after travelling and running around moving our daughter to another residence whilst she is a student at Lakehead. I loved that it wasn't big. We had a patio door and we could park our vehicle outside it. I just loved it.

I chose this hotel because of the price and previous good reviews. I was not disappointed. It is only about 10 minutes from downtown. Check in was friendly. I was able to park outside my room. There was a great view from my window of the hills and cliffs and I went for a walk around the pond on the adjacent grounds. I would definitely stay here again.

I was at this hotel for a week for a business trip. Nice rooms, and very clean. The fridge and microwave at no extra charge was a nice bonus. Good restaurant, great breakfasts included in the hotel rate I paid, and they were even willing to make and pack me a lunch one day. AJ at front desk was very helpful on the day I was not in meetings and had time to do some sightseeing.

My Mom, Dad and I visited the Best Western NorWester for a 5-day mini-holiday in Thunder Bay this week. We were incredibly lucky to have chosen this hotel because we had an absolutely PERFECT experience there. The property is lovely, nestled among the pines and the snow with a view of the local mountains, and with a beautiful ambiance in the lobby, the restaurant and the guest rooms. More importantly, every member of the staff went the extra mile in every encounter to make our stay perfect from start to finish. The front desk team catered to our every need, happily answering questions, suggesting sightseeing options, etc and sending one of the maintenance folks out to put salt on an icy spot in the parking lot instantaneously. Best of all, the front desk gave us a main floor room with a sliding door on the parking lot which made it really easy for my elderly parents to get in and out of the room from the car. The restaurant was excellent with great food, good prices, and staff that treated us like family, catering to our every whim. It was like being on a cruise ship where the staff remembered our preferences from day to day. The cleaning staff were fabulous, helping us to address several (self inflicted) housekeeping challenges we encountered. They even figured out a smart way for us to get some sourdough starter home on the airplane without exceeding the limits for carry on luggage (break it into multiple containers that were all under the size limit) and source a bathmat for home similar to what the hotel uses which will make my elderly Dad feel much safer in the shower. Even the snow clearing staff were notable. They are festidious in their work which made the hotel parking lot and entrance much safer for elderly folks than other establishments we visited during our stay. I was especially impressed with the gent clearing the parking lot - after breakfast I noticed him finishing up the plowing, so ran out and asked if he'd mind cleaning our parking spot if I moved the car - he didn't even pause before saying “OF COURSE”, even though he was almost done his plowing for the day. That made it much easier to get my parents out to the car safely. We can't say enough good about this hotel. The service we received and the pleasure we had there was one of the highlights of our trip and we will be telling all our friends far and wide about it PS - It was fun to see the Amethyst wall at the entrance to the conference centre PPS - We booked our stay with Airmiles ... imagine such a great hotel booked on points!

It is an older building but the room was clean with comfy bed and pillows. The food and service in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was fantastic. Rooms on the ground floor have outside access so you can park outside of your room.

one of the best Best Western I had ever stayed. Feel like on vacation. I like the view from restaurant. It is facing the mountain, in addition to golf type grass on the front ground. The breakfast is excellent, and is included in the room rate. parking is not a problem as there are lots of parking space.

A great atmosphere location with great natured, hard working staff. They serve alcohol directly to the pool area to go the extra mile. One serious downside is that it is very far from the downtown core. (Approx. 35 mins). Most of the other amenities in the surrounding area are still about a 15 minute drive. If you're looking for a conference centre or place to go to a hockey tournament, this is a great choice.

This is a semiannual trip we take through Thunder Bay and is our second stay at the hotel. We like it because it hosts a free EV charger, restaurant that is reasonably priced with good food, and has clean quiet and comfortable rooms with friendly staff.

This hotel really surprised me! The staff went out of there way for you and made you feel at home from the moment you got there. The hotel is a little way out of town but there is a free shuttle to and from the airport. The beds were so comfortable and the shower was heavenly. All in all, a very pleasant surprise!

I was in Thunder Bay for work and decided to stay just outside of downtown looking for quiet when not working. This was perfect as it only took me 17 minutes to get to work. The room was a very good size and the mattress was comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant onsite was decent with good service. The pricing was good as well. The chicken parm was a huge serving and very filling. The property was large enough to go for a nice walk.

After a long day's ride, we were welcomed to an eye appealing hotel, great bed and a really great restaurant on site, much appreciated. The pool and hot tub was a great way to unwind after our long day's ride and to enjoy a good sleep for another day of riding.

We were upgraded to a beautiful suite as we are diamond members. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was wonderfully appointed with a walk in delux shower. Bed was soft and very cozy comfortable. We were very satisfied with the room and service.

One of the better hotels in Thunder Bay. Close to the airport and loch Lomond it also has a great fitness centre with pool and sauna. The included breakfast is really good and there is an airport shuttle

Very standard North American type hotel close to the trans Canada highway. Rooms are clean but very bland and restaurant similar with rather unimaginative food and breakfast. Good size car park with plugs for overnight engine heating. It's a big hunting, fishing area with long empty roads. People are nice and friendly and quite chatty. I've stayed here many times and it's about the best in the area.

We got into TB late and were greeted by the friendliest front desk staff. They said, "there you are, we've been waiting for you" which made us feel like we were coming home to visit family. We were celebrating out 27th anniversary and they upgraded our room for us. It was the nicest hotel room we have ever been in. When you walk down the hallways, the air is fresh and halls are clean. We did get the complimentary breakfast which was served by friendly staff. They helped us with directions to some locations we wanted to check out and just genuinely cared about our visit. The room was clean, and the linens and towels fresh. When you walk in the mornings to the restaurant the housekeepers greet you with smiles. It just seems like everyone enjoys their job here! We were frantic the day of the wedding as the bride needed three Bobbie pins for her hairdo and when we asked one of the restaurant staff where we could get some, she said we would have a long drive but we didn't have that much time before leaving for the wedding. She thought she may have some with her, and proceeded to check her purse... she saved the day for the bride by offering her four Bobbie pins she found. As our son and new daughter in law work and live here now we will definitely recommend to their work staff to stay here. We will be back for sure!!! So relaxing, a great getaway for any reason.

We got caught in the leaf peeping excitement driving south from Ontario to MN. After 2 hours on the iPad and phone trying to find a spot, we were lucky and relieved to find a spot. The Best Western staff were very friendly; the room was fine but dated and we found the restaurant to be lacking especially for dinner. It's a huge hotel and one tiny restaurant ( think they cater to weddings and must do something else with all the people). Anyway, the staff in the evening were clueless ( but friendly). Since when do waitress mix the drinks at the bar?? My strawberry Margarita was nothing more than red dye #2; service friendly but lacking and slow. Breakfast was better (it's the usual free meal so you know what you are getting) but service was much better. Think I mostly just did not care for how their restaurant was organized. Anyway,

This place is always top notch for cleanliness, comfort and all the little details. Some of the best beds around and I'm not sure if there's a better gym in a hotel. They give prompt attention to any question and the staff are all super friendly!

We were upgraded to a suite with a fireplace. Absolutely lovely. And so comfortable. Beautiful view. Great shower, too. Friendly and efficient staff. Reliable internet. Didn't use the pool this trip, but had a delicious breakfast in the restaurant. We stay at this hotel every year on our vacation and highly recommend it.

Very nice hotel especially for Thunder Bay , one of the nicest in T Bay. The girl in dinning room on Sunday morning was awesome! I wish I remembered her name i wanted to point that out to manager but then forgot. The view from the breakfast deck was awesome. The only thing they could brush up on is the rooms are a little outdated. Pool, hot tube and sauna was fantastic.

We had and excellent experience at this hotel. The suite we had was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. All amenities were excellent. Great sit down breakfast was included. Very impressed. Would highly recommend this facility. Will definitely stay there again.

Our stay was on a Saturday night during Thanksgiving weekend. It was crazy busy at the hotel plus there was a wedding that night. From the moment we walked thru the front door the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even went the extra mile a few times in arranging transportation for us to and from dinner. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was excellent. Order off the menu, eggs benny were great and wait staff was too.

We were here for a family wedding in September. The hotel was great. Pool was good for kids. The restaurant food was pretty good. Service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry. Beautiful views! A bit out of town.

It was nice to stay at your hotel, altho it was far from the business centre of the city, but the view from my room was spectacular, very friendly staff, check in staff was very helpful as well as the cleaning staff.

It is a great hotel but a bit detour from Thunder Bay. I travel crossed Canada and I have to make a detour to stay here, which I should know before I book it. It has really nice and new lobby but the upstairs appears to be older. Room was clean but slightly pricy comparing to other places. The location is far from everything and so it's not very convenience. Breakfast is great like others mention and it's restaurant has a really nice view of the mountains. Service was good and friendly, recommend to people who like to stay a bit further from the city.

The rooms were average, and probably a bit more spendy ($150 Canadian) than if we had continued into town, though the location was convenient for late night arrive from the U.S. Room was very clean, and the level 1 rooms are accessible from both inside and the outside patio doors at each room, which was really nice. Included was breakfast from the restaurant - a value significantly greater than a typical continental breakfast. Food at the restaurant was pretty good and there was a full menu of options. Fast and friendly service at both the hotel and the restaurant.

We had an amazing experience tonight at the nor western hotel ! The hotel staff went over and above their regular duties to the delight of all who attended . The staff was so courteous , smiled a lot , very helpful , and were all so well dressed .the food was exceptional ! The best buffet I have ever been too !! The choices were amazing . From roast turkey and gravy with stuffing , perogies , glazed ham, fried chicken , salmon with dill sauce and all the compliments of fresh salads and vegetables etc. There was also a full buffet of deserts from a chocolate fondue , cheese platter , carrot cakes , blueberry cheesecake , to many other delights ! My daughter is vegetarian and when the manager was told of this that hour of the wedding he immediately came to our table and informed her that the chef would love to cook her a vegetarian meal .....well it was served to her by the dining manager in a very stylish bowl and it was a delight of fresh vegetables , and all dente pasta in a very tasteful sauce ! All the staff was exceptional and courteous , treated all the guests as if we were royalty and I highly recommend this hotel as Thunder Bays finest ! 5 star service !

Stopped here for an overnight stay on our way fishing. We had two rooms, both on the ground floor. The rooms were outstanding and comfortable. The room had a sliding door. You can sit outside and enjoy the great view, plus you can park right outside your room. The staff was awesome and very friendly. We had breakfast at the restaurant. Again, the staff was very friendly and outgoing, not the mention that the food was very good. We did not have a chance to use it, but the pool area and workout room looked very inviting. We will definitely stay here again on our next's years trip!

Love staying at the Norwester...rooms are clean and the property is beautiful. Love the fitness room and pool as well. We had a small meal in the lounge and it was great with very friendly and approachable staff...will definitely stay again.

Norwester did a great job with everything for the ceremony, reception, and wedding night. If I had one complaint to make it was that they failed to get me the sound system for the ceremony making it difficult for our guests to hear. Nicole at the front desk was so professional and helpful.

No thunder, just quietness, comfortable beds, good food, delightful staff. This is the cleanest property, well-kept. Even though there was a large wedding the night of our stay, all was quiet for a good sleep. Enjoyed the physical setting of the complex. Will sgtay here again, for sure.

Pulled in to the Best Western Plus Northwestern hotel and conference center, just south of the city. Outside air temp is 74F. We are not in the city so walking anywhere is not an option. The hotel is older but very well maintained, they have a large indoor pool and hot tub, but the first room 134 they tried to give us had the smell of Smoke (even though the hotel is “Smoke Free”), the second room 142 was fine. Both rooms had a back sliding glass door out onto a patio. Those in the front of the hotel do not have the patio feature. Unlike most Best Westerns that provide a breakfast as part of your stay, this BW does not offer such. We are going to give this place a 3.6 hinge rating (scale of 1-5).

have 2 small pups,so not all motels are an option. the rooms were very clean considering pet friendly, beds were very comfortable ,a nice view overlooking a small river, room rate included a good complete breakfast from the restaurant menu. we will stay again.

The Best Western group of companies should take their lead from this facility. All considered (staff, facility, cleanliness, restaurant, breakfast, a real swimming pool (not a wading pool) etc) it was the best. We traveled from Ontario to British Columbia and we used BW along the way. Our experiences at most BW was not the best. We switched to others on our return, however we made a poing of staying at this BW on our way home.

I had a late arrival and missed out of some of the on-site amenities. The room I was staying in had a paid of double beds and thank god for that. One of the beds was squeaky and very lumpy. Wish the hot tub and pool were open a little later then 10pm.

We have stayed in many BW Hotels but this one in Thunder Bay is the best one so far. The staff were very polite and friendly, the food was top draw and the rooms were nice and clean. The added attraction of the Hotel was the lovely garden and the well laid out deck outside the Dining Room and Bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on two occasions and look forward to a longer stay on our next visit. We stopped here for one night. It is a little out of town, location is fabulous. Great area o run or walk dog. Pathways are cut though the property. Staff was very helpful. Restaraunt was very good. Recommend the pickerel. Rooms comfortable with out door access on ground floor. Highly recommend.

This hotel has suites available and has an excellent swim area for kids. It ends up hosting lots of weddings with the beautiful mountainous back drop. Some rooms are a bit dated. We had one of the suites that was really nice.

We were warmly greeted and welcomed to the hotel. The staff offered area information and directions. We enjoyed our stay and the morning breakfast. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends. P.S. the view from our room was amazing.

We were traveling through here on our way home from Toronto. Pet friendly and kind front desk staff. When we checked in we were given a gift of doggie treats and poop bags for the dogs. Great way to assure the guests traveling with pets take care of cleaning up after the pets! Nice touch. Great breakfast included- order off the menu in the restaurant. We stayed on our way to North Vancouver, and made a point to stay there on our way back to our home near London Ontario. The large property surrounding the hotel allowing walks, views of Mt. McKay, the courteous and helpful staff, wonderful food in the hotel restaurant, the pool, hot tub and room all made for a comfortable and reviving stay. We appreciated the attention paid to our needs as bikers, (well ok, we were on a HD-Trike but the needs are the same!) If out that way will come again

to spend a nights stay this is getting out of hand when it comes to this price. the check in was very frustrating i had to book witha credit card but intended to pay cash . when i phoned about my check in they had run my m.c. trough and because i had changed it the week before it was declined. they then didnt want to give me the price that i had booked at. a very memorable experience

Typical Best Western Plus. Major positive is a big field in back with mowed trails thru the tall grasses. Lovely! Frustrating negative was that the wait staff couldn't figure out who was supposed to serve us for breakfast (included in the stay); consequently, we were ignored while others around us were served.

The room was as described, quiet and comfortable. Setting beautiful as well. Front desk was prompt and helpful on checkin and checkout. Booked as CAA rate so breakfast was included (if they don't offer on checkin ask for a voucher for breakfast) - hot breakfast, could select from menu with a few exceptions. Breakfast was good. Dinner the night before however was not. Ordered an oriental salad that was drenched in dressing, a couple of pieces of Mandarin orange and topped with what appeared to be a thinly sliced cold chicken finger. The Heineken I ordered with the meal came in a '007 Spectre' special promotional bottle so was old stock. So, stay for the room and the breakfast, but I'd go somewhere else for supper.

I stayed three nights at the Best Western Plus in Thunder Bay. The hotel room was fine, and clean. I was upgraded by the front desk staff to a room that I think should be a standard type of room for $180/night. However, the hallway was extremely noisy beginning at 8am and onward as a result of housekeeping staff and the stairwell door. I would advise not having a room close to a stairwell. Room service was excellent as was the adjacent restaurant. If rooms were $50 less per night, I would say this hotel was outstanding. However, it is overpriced.

We have been coming here for 9 years on our way to North Bay Ontario from British Columbia and on the return journey. Location is great. It is quiet and on the outskirts of Thunder Bay town in a beautiful Country setting and lots of green areas to walk the dogs. Rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. Pet Friendly. The restaurant offers good meals. Free breakfast is chosen from the restaurant's Menu ( cannot beat this). Would recommend this totally. Would the 15-20 minute drive outside of town.

My husband and I recently got married here at the end of August and have nothing but amazing things to say about the hotel and its staff. Our catering contact was extremely helpful and helped to put us at ease with any concerns we had. Our questions were responded to almost immediately, which was helpful in the last couple weeks leading up to the wedding when things start to get crazy. A catering manager was present throughout the whole affair the day of and made sure that guests were taken care of and the night went off without a hitch, which it did! Serving and banquet staff were also amazing. Good job on remembering everyone's drink orders! I ran into one little bump the night before the wedding and guest services went above and beyond what was expected of them to ensure that my stay was more than enjoyable, which it was. Housekeeping staff was also very friendly and helpful. They acknowledged you anytime you saw them in the hallway, and were super helpful in moving my stuff from the suite the night before the wedding t our suite the night of. From what I have seen my pictures turned out amazing, and I cannot wait to see the rest. We will most absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking for event space, and will use it in the future when we have other events to plan. Job well done everyone! I stayed here twice within a week on the front and back end of a trip to Dryden. Arriving late the first night, I was both shocked and delighted in the morning at the amazing view from the restaurant side of the hotel--simply green and gorgeous! The deck overlooking the lake/fountain was a relaxing respite. Great food and service in the onsite restaurant--especially breakfast. Only 10 minutes from the airport and about 25 from most areas of the entertainment and shopping in Thunder Bay, this will be my hotel of choice on any return trip!

Rate seemed high compared to comparable hotels we have stayed at. Hotel was a little further from center of Thunder Bay than we would have liked. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. Building was quiet.

A place to recommend for friends and family everywhere if you are travelling to the Thunder Bay Area, lots always going on either in the city or country life, always a joy coming to Thunder Bay will for sure be recommending to everyone!

My girlfriend and I had never been to Thunder Bay before. We were here to attend a wedding a few weeks ago. When we checked in, the front desk was very friendly, and the rooms were comfy. Outside the hotel is a beautiful and short walk around a small lake. We arrived a bit late in the evening, so we decided to go to the restaurant inside the hotel. It was a pleasant surprise; the food was reasonably-priced and tasty. We enjoyed it so much we decided to try breakfast there and was not disappointed either. The second day, I mentioned to the front desk that I wanted to order a taxi or uber to check out downtown Thunder Bay. Management said they would take us around Thunder Bay as a service to us for staying. It was the nicest thing any hotel has ever done for me. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone going to Thunder Bay. I wish I could give them a 6th star and hope I can come back and vacation there for an extended period.

I wanted to share the experience my mother and I had as others can chose another place. I wrote this review, and both Justin lee and Edwin had contacted me. They apologized for what had happened, and I had tried following up on the room to see what had happened . I was first wrongfully accused of not staying there while writing this review, when I wrote it through the best western survey. For us, it was not worth the money, we had spent the following day 20 dollars less at a Hampton and received better service. The staff seemed unresponsive when we had arrived, allowing for us and a couple to feel confused and even mouthing "umm okay" to her husband as she walked towards her room. Our room, the sheets felt as if they were not clean and the beds were just off-putting. The shower was dirty as we entered the room, we did not even shower due to the fact of this. The room was a nice size, but the screen door had a few holes, so we could not use this . The carpet outside smelt like pee or just old and moldy. This hotel was said to be recently renovated but it seems as only the lobby was recently renovated. The room seemed out of date. The plus side that we did enjoy about this place was the restaurant. We enjoyed the dinner we had, the curry bowl was a great meal, and so was the fried cheesecake. Our waiter was a nice gentlemen who made our dinner pleasant and fun . When we wanted to check out, we needed our bags, but there was no one at the front desk, therefore my mother went back to the room to proceed to call the front desk (mind you she knocked on the door to see where the people where , no one answered), As she called I walked back to the front desk and had the person appear only after. In our opinions, we would not want to stay back there, maybe we would go for a dinner but not to sleep again. As mentioned, this post was already deleted, not sure as to why, but Justin and Edwin did contact me and say they would inspect the room and do their best to make changes, so hopefully, it will become worth someones money, but to us, it was not worth our money. We were on our homeward trip and it was great to have such a nice pool and isolated location to spend our evening. The outside door from our room was great for easy unloading. We loved that our breakfast was covered by CAA and it was delicious!

We weren't sure where to stay in Thunder Bay as we were not familiar with the city and just driving through. We called a couple places and so happy we choose the Best Western Norwest. The price was great, pool area clean and well taken care of, the rooms were plenty big for myself, hubby, 14 year old daughter and mother-in-law. The grounds are nice to walk around and very safe. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant which was a complimentary breakfast. To our surprise it was not just muffins and bagels but we got to order right off the menu anything we wanted. It was an awesome breakfast. Checkin and out was very simple and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the city. We will definitely be staying here again our next trip through Thunder Bay.

I stay 100 + nights/ year in hotels. Rarely I leave without having at least one comment on either staff, room or property anemities. I have stayed twice at that BW and both occasions have been perfect!

We didn't know it was 15 minutes out of Thunder Bay but what a find! Definitely reserve 247...beautiful corner suite, fireplace, views, quiet and great bed! The bathroom is new and wonderful new, techno shower! We stayed 7 days and would've stayed forever! Great staff, friendly and helpful. Huge fitness center with steam and sauna and heated pool with no one to compete with! Loved it!

We've stayed at Best Westerns across the nation and this one certainly didn't disappoint. The room and bath were very clean. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. The shower head was awesome, helped get kinks out of a long day. Flat screen TV worked great. We also had a beautiful mountain view. Breakfast had a lot of choices and was good. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. They allow pets and had lots of greens space for walks and a nice pond. We recommend this place for overnight or an extended stay.

Our plans were changed and we had to spend the night in Thunder Bay. Great hotel. Very clean The staff was friendly and the restaurant and bar are great It is a little out of the way but certainly worth the effort There are a few bars and restaurants in he immediate vicinity

This hotel was just off the highway so passing through made it easy to stay here. Hotel was very clean, staff were friendly , room was nice. We didn't stay long to use the amenities but the breakfast the next morning was amazing. Staying in hotels all across Canada this summer and this was the only hotel to have a hot home cooked breakfast. It was even included in our room which meant our rate was a steal of a deal.

I always enjoys my stays at the Best Western Norwester. The views are stunning and the rooms are great and the staff is super friendly. I would highly recommend it as a place to stay when in Thunder Bay

Beautiful views. Beds were very firm had trouble sleeping. Restraunt has very, very, very good food. The lower floors have sliding glass doors that did not latch. Found a pair of womens underwear that didn't belong to us.

We stayed 3 nights at The Norwester for our niece's wedding. Beautiful grounds, amazing staff and superb service. The restaurant staff went above and beyond to accommodate our food allergies!! Not a single thing to complain about ?? Loved loved LOVED our stay and will be back again next time we're in Thunder Bay!

We stayed at the hotel for a wedding with several other family members. The facility was excellent - room was on the ground level so we had patio doors that overlooked the grounds, pool and hot tub was conveniently located as was the dining room. All staff were friendly and accomodating and the food was excellent. I would recommend this facility highly.

Very nice Best Western. Clean, modern and very scenic grounds. Rooms were spacious and clean. Do not offer a continental breakfast, but there is a restaurant on site that had decent food. Staff was friendly.

The hotel is located on a gorgeous piece of property with mountain views. Very clean with a nice pool and a pretty good restaurant. They do not provide a complementary breakfast or did not to us. We were asked if we had a coupon but were not offered one. Nice quiet location away from the City.

We were traveling from out west to home in the Maritimes. Overnight stop but wished we could have spent more time. When checking in I was told we were given an upgrade that included a fireplace, altho not needed in the summer. When I got to the room I found it was a suite. The shower was large; separate seating area with TV; king bed. Breakfast was not in a nook but was in the restaurant with anything off the menu. Staff were friendly and top notch. If ever in the area again, this is where we would stay.

2nd visit here in the space of a few weeks and it always lives up to our expectations. Great staff, thanks to Justin, Josee and Lorna (who called in to see us on her day off !!) for a great experience as usual. Hope to see you all again soon.

The entire experience was wonderful. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The staff was very kind and helpful. They were the best part. Everyone from the hotel to the restaurant were great! I would have liked to spend more time with you. If I am in the area again I will be staying here if possible.

This was an overnight stay on the way to the airport the next morning. The hotel has the BEST view in the entire city. The staff are friendly and courteous. The rooms have a coffee machine with Martin's Coffee packets. The TV is a good size and has a guide in the nightstand drawer so you know what channels to look for. The beds are comfy with lots of pillows and the room decor is quite nice. The bathroom is a standard hotel size with standard amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, makeup remover wipe and lotion. Very clean! I was on the second floor and the only thing I can say that brings down my review is that the walls are a little thin, as I could hear kids crying and man shouting at someone to shut up in the next room. However, a REALLY positive thing is the free breakfast. It's ordered from a menu and the choices for a good big breakfast are amazing! I had orange juice, 2 scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, coffee and toast! There is fresh fruit and mueslix in the menu if you are wanting something a little healthier. They have a nice looking exercise facility and a great looking pool. I would recommend ts hotel to anyone, even if it is a bit out of the way. There is a shuttle to the airport!

The property, room and surrounding area was very nice, the restaurant and lounge staff were very friendly. The only complaint I have was with the check out, I had already paid for the first night 3 months in advance of a 3 night stay but was charged the full amount upon check out, I informed the clerk and this person had difficulty refunding me the 1st night stay, the manager was somewhat helpful and after about 30 to 45 minutes it was taken care of. Other than that I would stay at this hotel again, easy to get to and has access to a restaurant/tavern across the street.

This Best Western has a great view of the mountains. It is spacious and away from the main roads making it extra quiet. Recommended for business groups or vacationing families. Log cabin theme is fun!

Motorcycle friendly facility...who knew! Rolled in without a reservation, booked a room and received a 'gift bag' with towel & cloth to wipe down bike. Woke in the morning to find another towel on the bike as it had sprinkled a little through the night. Clean & friendly with comfortable beds. Would stay again :)

The hotel had a good place to eat, was clean, had curb side service to our room (right through the patio doors), comfortable beds, good temperature control, and staff was very polite. We would have liked to use the pool, but it wasn't open late enough. Staff also gave us information about the Best Western points and the falls.

I had a chance to stay here twice within five days. Very Clean comfortable rooms with a great view of Loch Lomond ski area. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to others. It is not to far from downtown Thunder Bay as well.

Nice new hotel; a bit far from downtown Thunder Bay though which was a bummer. Comfortable rooms, pool, restaurant. Tiny bar though and no options for grab and go breakfast which would have been helpful for the day we had to be up and out for our fishing excursion.

The Norwester Hotel continues to stand above the rest in the Best Western chain. A short drive is worth it for the accommodations, ambience and outstanding service. We also took advantage of the pool, sauna and hot tub and everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The nachos were the best I have ever tasted - seriously! The view from the outdoor patio was lovely; the service outstanding.

Had a wonderful stay at you hotel. Staff was great. The restaurant in the building was a bonus. The room was spacious and very clean. Scenery off the patio was spectacular. All in all A1. We were on our way home from a trip across Canada and had stayed in many hotels and this one ranked at the top of our list. Thank you

We decided to stay an extra day at this beautiful hotel for some well deserved relaxation following some gruelling days of travel from Ontario. We were more than impressed with the hotel amenities (beautiful room, comfortable beds and pillows, cleanliness, excellent meals from on site restaurant) and the expansive green space (fabulous for our dog's exercise needs) as well as the view of the mountains from our hotel room. All staff were very friendly and attentive, and Edwin Martinez, Manager, was beyond helpful to make our stay truly enjoyable. Our amazing stay has prompted us to choose Best Western Plus accommodations as we continue to travel across Canada. Thank you for an amazing experience.

The facility is a little dated on the interior and exterior. Lobby area is impressive. Quality of the dinner I ordered was terrible and they had to remake my food. The second attempt was better but not great. Beds were comfortable and the mountain views were nice. Small patio or balcony depending on your floor added a place to sit and relax.

The rooms are clean. Plenty of space for a family of four. Breakfast was ordered off the menu in the restaurant. the cost of breakfast was included with the room rate. The pool area was large and the water was warm. If we are in the area in the future we will definitely stay at this hotel.

I was expecting a wonderful stay at the best western but was disappointed. As we arrived in, we had staff that was welcoming but seemed a bit busy with other things going out. The outside did not seem too welcoming, other than the fact of the main lobby which seems to have been renovated. We got checked in and went to our room, the hallway towards our room smelt like a combination of pee and rotten carpet. As we entered in our room, the shower was dirty prior to even using it, the sheets did not seem clean and had an off smell. The screen door had little holes in it. The only plus side of this place was the restaraunt, the food was good. I would recommend the thai coconut curry but without the pineapple. When checking out, we needed to checkout early. We went to the front desk and waited about 2 minutes, knocked on their door and had no answer, i had to return to my room and call the front desk from the room and wait a minute or more for them to answer, they finally answered and i was capable of then going to check out, they had a bag of my checked in, so regardless i needed to see them to checkout to get it, and the fact that they were not there when you need to check out? Especially when it is early. This was not worth what we paid, we paid the same price to stay at the hampton inn, which is a lot nicer and friendly. I would not recoomend this place, it says it was recently updated, but i think it was only the lobby as that was the only nice thing about this place( and the food)

Stayed here for Six days as part of a group that went to a wedding on site. The area is beautiful. The hotel food was excellent, and this was the best family vacation hotel experience I can remember mainly because of the welcoming friendly staff and genuinely helpful service

The location and beauty of this property mirrors the spectacular palate that is Norther Ontario. This rivals European Best Westerns . The accommodations are scene stealing. Their patio and outdoor wildlife deck is memorable. The scenic position of the property is beyond the photographs of their website or of TripAdvisors'. This place is a gem. Please , this property deserves a winless equal to it's beauty and pleasure.

We stayed here one night on our Lake Superior Circle tour. It was right off highway 61 and out of the city, which we wanted. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom spacious. The cable connection on the tv was excellent as was the quality of food in the connected restaurant. I spent time walking the numerous paths in the grasslands in the back property of the hotel. It was wonderful walking, peaceful and beautiful. The WIFI connection was good. There were plenty of outlets. For our needs it was a great place to stay.

This is an older facility but has all of the modern amenities. A stellar feature is the dining deck facing the northern wilderness. We only experienced the reflected sunset on the rugged hills. Apparently the sunrises are also something to behold. Definitely a place for a longer stay.

Traveled on business to Thunder Bay and stayed for one night. The back area of this property is beautiful. Watched the sun go down by the pond with a bottle of wine, very relaxing after a long day. The pool is large, but it is shared with people with memberships, so lots of kids. Not that it is an issue, but just a heads up if you are looking for some quiet time by the pool. We had to rush in the morning, they packed our breakfast to go for us. The service was great. There is also a restaurant right across the street in case you are looking for a change of scenery. Food was good.

We stayed here a night using our Aeroplan points. Contrary to the info provided on the website, the breakfast is not included if you book through Aeroplan. The place is dated and needs a facelift. Similarly, furniture in our room was quite old and inferior, creating a cheap ambiance. It is located in a remote location with no businesses close by. Overall, the place has become a regular highway motel. Lower your expectations.

Lovely location just outside Thunder Bay. Good pool, lots of parking, great ice machine (important of course!). Quiet room with balcony, very friendly staff. We had a view of the "mountains" from the room and easy access to the green space behind the hotel. Enjoyed the deck chairs over looking the pond as well.

My husband and I called the Nor'Wester the day of our anniversary. It being wedding season...we weren't sure they would have one of their spa suites available on such short notice, but we were in luck! I told them we had been married there ourselves 5 years ago that day, and they took $80 off the rate of the suite. We were so excited! Then they called back within 10 minutes to let us know they would take off an additional $100 for a total discount of $180 off the room rate. On top of that, they gave us complimentary breakfast for the morning. We had a great anniversary and the hotel and their facilities are nicer today than even 5 years ago. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The sliding door provided very convenient access to our vehicle for loading and unloading. Only complaint is the price of food and small selection for room service.

This 90 room hotel has the greatest location right on the highway, just outside of the city by 10 minutes. There is one convenience store next door for expensive last minute things. Robins Donuts short drive down the road. Neebing Roadhouse across the road for bar fare only (as dining side is TOO expensive and not worth it) Views of the mountains are the best feature along with nicely maintained grounds and trails to walk. Restaurant on site has a very limited menu and average fare. Outside patio allows for lovely morning or evening dining. Small deck near the pond has andirondack chairs for sitting. Swimming pool and facilities are great. However, the main floor rooms are showing their age and is need of some updating. Exterior grounds and parking lot is clean, and nicely maintained. Rooms are relatively quiet though but hallway noise, and slamming room doors carries. Small fridge and small coffee maker in room. No microwave. Front desk staff were nice and helpful, as well as friendly restaurant staff. However morning male housekeeper knocked on our door after requesting a late checkout AND had our DO NOT DISTURB on our door. Sheesh.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel on stop-over while we road-tripped around Lake Superior. While this hotel is just outside the main city area, this is just what we liked about it. It was close enough to drive to the city for shopping, restaurants, etc. but also close to drive more into the countryside to explore. The Nor'Wester Mountains right behind the hotel offered a serene and picturesque backdrop for a lovely and relaxing stay. The restaurant patio also looked out onto this scene which was great. While the room and bathroom looked a bit more dated than some of the pictures on the website made it seem, it was clean, spacious and comfortable for our purposes. We were expecting a continental breakfast as in most hotels but were very pleasantly surprised when we received vouchers for breakfast at the restaurant. We could order pretty much anything off the breakfast menu (with the exception of a couple more expensive items..like steak and eggs) and there was many great options. I had an omelette which was delicious and filling and my boyfriend had the Finnish pancakes which he loved. We arrived earlier for breakfast and were seated and served no problem. The only observation was that by the last hour of breakfast when we were finishing up, it was very busy and they were VERY understaffed so many tables were left waiting for service. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I stay here whenever I come to Thunder Bay. I have come to judge all other hotels I stay in by the standards the Nor'Wester sets!! The hotel and grounds are meticulously maintained..., and the views are the best in Thunder Bay!! Well worth the short drive out of town to stay in this week run facility !! ... And the restaurant food here is as good as it gets. Do try the pizza!!!

We were delighted to be situated out of town on this lovely property. We always look for a pet-friendly hotel and this one was fabulous for our dog as she had a huge area to roam and explore. The dining room staff were accommodating and friendly. Having breakfast in the restaurant for an additional $6.00 (for both myself and my husband) was a bonus and much nicer than the usual self serve style of Best Westerns.

Typical of updated BW motels. Neat, clean, good sized rooms and nothing missing. Front desk very accomodating but had trouble getting secured wifi for which they had no answer...not their fault. Breakfast was very good which was from restaurant there and Not continental buffet. I don't know how anyone can use indoor pools in these places with the overwhelming chlorine stench. Ask for a room facing the rear on second level where you have a full balcony w mountain view.

We stayed here two nights as part of the Lake Superior Circle tour. Travelling on our Harley we were made welcome and offered a ground floor room on the back side with a walk out patio door. Easy loading and a clear view of our bike . We had a heavy rain one night and some one put extra wiping rags on the seat once the rain stopped. Nice touch and unexpected. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and we ordered from the menu getting a great omelette and service was a bonus. Much better than the common hotel breakfast. Friendly staff made it a pleasure to return to this hotel again. I will be back and as soon as possible. Thanks for a great stay

the staff at your hotel was awsome. My grandson left his head phones in the room when we left and didn't realise it until we were well on our way. i phoned the hotel and they found them and put them in the mail. CRISIS avoided. Thank you very much.

Older facility updated and well maintained. Would definitely stay here again. Best breakfast of our 14 night trip. Pool and hot tub were excellent. Also one of the top three hotels on that 14 night trip.

After driving from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, my son & I were looking forward to stay a couple of days at Thunder Bay! We were very happy with the Best Western Plus Norwester Hotel!!! The staff were very friendly and eager to point out places to see while visiting from British Columbia.

The hotel was just beautiful. It was our first trip to Canada and the staff make it most enjoyable. Carla assisted us with information on customs and the laws of Canada. This was very helpful and she should be commended for her great customer service.

We've stayed here a bunch of times over the years as a family with and without a dog. Love the country setting which has a field area for kids and pets to run, and a nice sitting area on a dock near a lake with a fountain. Restaurant is good. Like the rooms with the sliding doors on the back "mountain" side. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. We'll be back! Thanks!

Nice hotel, clean but after driving all day arriving late there was nothing close by even to grab a coffee. In the morning had to back track to Thunder Bay as left before breakfast. More of a retreat hotel.

motorcycle enthusiasts are welcomes with open arms. The staff went out of their way to provide for our needs following torrential rains. We ate dinner in their restaurant. The food is delicious and good value. Next time I will try their in house pizza. Breakfast is included and you may order from the full menu.

The hotel staff was great. Very pleasant and very helpful. The room was comfortable. It was easy to find the hotel. The restaurant on location was nice and had good service. I did not use the pool or other amenities.

Doing the Lake Superior Circle Tour, this was our first stop in Canada. The hotel was very nicely set up, with great views, very clean, excellent staff, good food. They even gave all of us a gift because we were on motorcycles. Would definitely stay there again

The hotel was good for a family and pet to stay at. It has a pool and restaurant on the property. The staff was AMAZING!!! The only reason that I didn't give them a 5 was because the room could use a deep clean or new carpet. I got a non-smoking room, but it still had a stale smell of something that I couldn't place.

We chose this hotel based on the reviews and were not disappointed. The staff was helpful and friendly, and upgraded our room to a beautiful suite the first night of our stay. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stay a second night before continuing our road trip. Lovely view of the Norwester Mountains from our room, with the quality and comfort we have come to expect from the Best Western chain. We enjoyed the onsite restaurant, with excellent service and good food, the sauna and pool as well (hot tub was out of service on the trip out, but functioning again when we returned on our way back through about 10 days later).

Big conference being held at the same time. Hotel seemed to handle it with no problems. Resteraunt was fast service was great. Rooms were very clean. Parking was a bit of an issue but otherwise all good.

We were travelling back from Winnipeg and thought we would be able to find a hotel room no problem to only learn once we got there everything was booked!!! We called BW and they had one room left!! It was a suite but gave us a god rate plus breakfast. Front desk was very helpful, nice and there service was great. The hotel was very clean and had a great view of the NorWester Mountains. Had a great sleep and a great breakfast!

Room 135, close to one of the main entrances. Only a two story so it is stretched out leaving a long walk if your room is in the center between the entrances. Excellent beds. Completely non-smoking. Big gym, good restaurant with outside deck if you wish to eat outside with a view of the mountains, has a pool. Very helpful desk attendants. Ample free parking. For hockey tournaments, the two sheet event centre is right next door. Like most hotels the neighbours shower is a bit noisy. Very big flat screen tv and good wi-fi reception even where I was way down the hall from the lobby. Two computers and a printer in the lobby for guest use. Reasonably priced, phoned reception for my reservation, it was cheaper than online at least this time. There is a shuttle, not sure if it is free or where it goes.

The hotel is well maintained. Rooms are clean and food is wonderful. We had an excellent stay thanks to friendly staff. Will certainly stay there on our next trip to Thunder Bay. The grounds are well kept with places to relax after a hectic day.

Everything was excellent. The only thing they should Start the breakfast at 6 am for those who want to get on the road early, also not like other Best Western hotel they did not have an EV (electric vehicle charging station) other than that perfect.

Strongly recommend. Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was fresh and had lots of options. I have stayed here multiple times and best western east gate is always my first choice in Regina.

We road around Lake Superior and Thinder Bay was our first Canadian stop. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I had selected this hotel because one of the amenities was laundry service We were riding motorcycles and this was our fifth night and planned it to do laundry there. They did not have laundry service but other than that it was a very nice place to stay.

The hotel is well maintained and our room was spotless. The beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was off the menu so that is novel! It is on the outskirts of Thunderbay but not too far away - maybe 5 kilometres. The staff was friendly and professional. I can see why it is the number one hotel in the Thunderbay area.

Stayed at this hotel on our way home from a trip to Alberta. The pictures are completely different than what the room we stayed in are, they were very outdated. Beds were not comfortable, in fact we left at 1145 pm and decided we would rather just take turns driving and sleep in the car. The pool was great and the service was very nice.

Made reservations on Monday afternoon for Tuesday for 2 pet friendly rooms. When we got there on Tuesday they had charged our credit card with a no show fee as they booked us in for Monday.... we explained that we were traveling across the country as we are moving to the Edmonton area and we had asked for the rooms on Tuesday they were not pleasant said sorry nothing we can do talk to the manager tomorrow. We tried to show that we were in Sault-Sainte-Marie on Monday and never would of booked 2 hotels! But they weren't much interested until we demanded they call their manager. After they called him they sorted it all out. As for the location it's beautiful and very peaceful the restaurant is a great addition to the hotel and makes for a great breakfast.

Very nice hotel with a reasonable rate. The lobby is large and accommodating for relaxing and talking. Would have like to utilize the outside patio but it was totally occupied by a wedding party. Lounge made good drinks and the restaurant served good food for breakfast. A sit-down breakfast was included in our rate and it was well worth the little extra. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here about a week ago. First time ever. They upgraded us to a family suite with a great view. Front desk was very accommodating. Dinner on site was perfect for our family. Pool readily available. Very clean. My only complaint would be the thin doors to joining rooms.

Very good hotel, but not really good value for the money. Breakfast was not included and for the money paid it should have been, Would think twice before staying there again.Room was nice but too expensive.

Fantastic food and service for our daughter's wedding! The staff was very helpful and looked after all the details. The wedding ceremony was originally supposed to be outside, but rain changed those plans. The staff set up chairs inside and everything proceeded beautifully.

This is a nice well kept hotel but is really off the beaten path from Thunder Bay and I booked with Hot Wire so when checking in the lady at the front desk was rude when I asked about breakfast and said "you booked with Hot Wire so for that low rate there is NO breakfast included for you", it was not so much what she said BUT how she said it.

This facility may be a great place for the locals, but it is not for the overnight traveller who wants a quiet nights rest. Reported noise and smoking outside our room at 3 a.m. but nothing was done. No sleep, no rest, no return to this place

This is a nice clean motel with an above average restaurant. We stay here when coming to Canada fishing. The place has great views of mountains and it is very relaxing to just sit and look at them after a 12 hour drive and the wait getting through customs. The place was full on a Tuesday evening. I guess we aren't the only ones who like it here. The restaurant is darn good for dinner and love the Swedish/Finnish pancakes for breakfast.

This is the second time I stayed here and I really hope to be back . What a big and truely beautiful area around the hotel ! A special thanks to Carla in reception who worked at getting us the room of our choice for 20 minutes . She smiled and was friendly the entire time

This is a very nice hotel located just off the Trans Canada Hwy . The front staff is very helpful. The rooms are quiet. The restaurant has great food and very friendly and efficient service. The rate includes breakfast which is ordered from the menu. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Norwester Hotel in Thunder Bay Ontario on our way home to Winnipeg. We found it to be a great hotel with a nice pool & comfortable rooms. We ate in the restaurant and it was good.

Lovely property. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Property is well maintained. Restaurant is onsite and is very good. Wait staff are attentive and polite. The food served was excellent and nicely presented. Our room was on the lower floor and had a sliding door to the parking lot as well as an interior door which opens to a corridor that leads to the front lobby and restaurant. Would stay here again when in the area.

We had an excellent stay here. Front desk staff are great. The rooms are large and clean. Great gym/pool area. Restaurant has good prices and decent food. Lots of banquet areas/rooms. Would definitely recommend!

Overall the hotel and our stay was nice, the room was clean and the bathroom was very nice. The staff were very helpful and polite. We were traveling with a small dog, so had a room on the first floor. I found the beds too high (we are 5'8" and 6') and we had to kind of jump up to sit on them. The floors were a nice laminate, but I found that made the activity in the hotel louder - not helpful in terms of keeping our dog quiet (which we managed to do, but only through constant vigilance on our part). I also found the floors a bit slippery when trying to get up on the bed while wearing socks. I know it helps keep the space cleaner, but the combination of flooring and bed height wasn't very practical in our view.

Passing through Thunder Bay on my way from Winnipeg to GTA I decided to stay here rather than risk it at a small town motel above superior. After looking online at motels etc along the way, I found them to be charging about the same as this hotel. The stay was good, rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel offered nice facilities. I didn't try the pool due to the long drive ahead but it looked great and is a large pool you could easily swim laps in. Complimentary breakfast was great with a surprisingly good selection, not just. Muffin and coffee. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is part of a conference center. It is about 5 miles away from Thunder Bay proper so you cannot walk anywhere. However, you are rewarded with stunning mountain views and lush surroundings. The hotel is extremely clean. You get to order off a menu for breakfast (free for most items) instead of fighting the crowds at a breakfast buffet. The staff bends over backwards to help you. The rooms are a nice size with working Internet and amenities. It was quiet too! Roberta, the manager is awesome. At some point the hotel may need a more modern decor but it was by no means shabby. Each room has a balcony. Again, the hotel rooms are very clean.

I stay in this hotel every time in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The value is good. The rooms are clean. The food in the dinning room is excellent. They have a very good chose of food for break feast. The dinner items are well priced and served with professionally.

the hotel is older. The sliding doors from your room to the parking lot are nice. The restaurant: very salty food, service only average, food mediocre. The patio: fabulous. Be sure to ask for a mountain view room if you can.

I really like this hotel and this is one of the best I've seen so far. First the location, it's a little bit outside of the city, but you get a beautiful view on the landskype. You should definitly ask for a room at the back of the hotel, your balcony will have a nice view. The room was really clean, a lots of space, a microwave and a fridge. Th staff was really nice. It's really the first time that I have nothing bad to say about an hotel.

We really enjoyed our time at the Norwester Hotel. My husband and I stayed here for three nights while in town for a wedding being held at the same hotel. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed our breakfast views when we ate outside at the Cliffhanger restaurant. The pool, hot tub, and sauna are well-maintained. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I was woken by loud staff conversations directly outside my room and renovation work being completed in the room across the hall at 8am. I was looking forward to sleeping in on this childless weekend, but was unable to due to the disruption. Luckily, this only happened on the first morning. Be sure to put the "quiet" sign on your door when you stay!

Always a great stay at his property! Just a bit out of town so it's quiet with a great view of the nearby Norwester mountain range. Relaxing first class hotel. Our go to place for every visit to T. Bay.

We stay here a couple of times every year. Comfortable rooms, nice relaxing setting, friendly staff, and a very good on-site restaurant. We always look forward to our visit. We'll be back again in the fall.

The Best Western PLUS NorWester has a resort-like feeling. The hotel is situated with beautiful views of the NorWester mountains - even if your room does not have a view (although all those on one side of the hotel do), you can also enjoy the view from the restaurant. There is also a very large area for outside dining, again with spectacular views. The hotel is a bit outside the city (15 mins from downtown) but the location made the trade-off more than worth it for us. In addition to the beautiful setting, the hotel is very near Fort William Historical Park and the Whitewater Golf Course. The team at the NorWester is very customer-focused - attentive, friendly and professional. They were very welcoming and really completed our overall exceptional experience.

The employees were fabulous. The cleaning crews brightened my day with a smile and friendly greeting, the staff had a towel on the wet seat of my motorcycle and while waiting for the cafe to open early in the morning (I was not used to eastern time) someone brought me cup of coffee (didn't even as for one!). I would strongly recommend this place. Exercise room was large with free weights.

Terrific place and great value. Updated and clean. Was upgraded to a suite - thanks Best Western Rewards! Delicious, full breakfast ordered off the menu included. An awesome deal for $125! A little out of the way, but worth the trouble.

Great stay in Thunder Bay Area of Ontario. A must visit sight is Fort William! Visitor center is well done. All the interpreters were friendly and very knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Justin is so kind, considerate, and always has treated me with excellent service! The ladies at the front desk were very kind, pleasant and helpful! The dining room servers were also very kind, and helpful.

We were doing the Tour Around Lake Superiour and came in later than we would've liked and what a disappointment that was overall. We would've loved to spend more time not only in Thunder Bay but also at BW Norwester Hotel. We enjoyed a delicious late dinner just as the dining room was closing and an even better breakfast that was included! The Finnish Pancakes were the absolute best and most filling a person could ask for to be included with their room. Not only was the food good all of the hotel staff were amazingly friendly. Our room was on the back side of the hotel with amazing views of the lush green hillsides behind us as well. No city street to look at there. Another huge surprise was the sliding glass doors that opened up to let in the cool evening or morning breezes...so delightful! I cannot say enough great things about this property - thank you for an amazing stay along our way. I look forward to coming back and staying here again...hopefully sooner than later!

It's an excellent place to stay and relax after a long day at the office. Staff is very friendly and service is great. On every business trip that I take to Thunder Bay this hotel became my home away from home.

Great accommodation, clean modern rooms & friendly staff. Conference room was clean spacious,set up properly to meet our needs. Staff ensured that we were well taken care of during our stay. Location is not that close to the downtown area for restaurants etc but is an easy drive.

The Norwester is a very good pick for a business stay. I arrived in town late but was promptly picked up at the airport by their included shuttle. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was included. The gym is very well equipped and has new cardio machines. The staff are polite and helpful.

Loved our stay ,the staff was great .very clean nice pool wonderful gym, small restraunt but great food and service . The view from our room was to die for . I would recommend the Nor Wester to anyone

I love this location but the one thing that I hesitate on is because the price is a little much though in comparison to other hotels in the area it fall in line. I pay the extra for the service provided with free shuttle to and from the airport which is important for staying away more than 5 days as airport parking is too costly for long term stay

Amazing staff/room/restaurant. The beds were so comfy. Room was very spacious. We loved the large pool, lots of fun. We found that the room was very quiet, almost soundproof, so had a great sleep. The staff was very friendly and remembered us from last time with a nice welcome!

I stayed here recently on a trip around Lake Superior on my motorcycle. The BW Plus is located on the south side of Thunder Bay and is I believe the first hotel you come to if heading north out of the U.S. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable. The room is equipped with all the amenities you need. While the rooms have an interior entrance the first floor rooms have sliding glass doors for easy access to your vehicle should you need it. The hotel has its own restaurant and the free breakfast included with your meal is any breakfast item off their menu and your drink. While their restaurant is very good and they're located a couple miles south of town there are still several places that deliver should you chose not to go out. All in all a great place to stay and one I'd stay at again if I was in the area.

The rural setting was lovely and relaxing after a long drive. The breakfast - included in our room charge was excellent. The dinner offerings were adequate; the dog friendly hotel and walking area was superb; all the staff from front desk to restaurant, ones who worked elsewhere on the property were very accommodating.

As usual my stay was great. There is a very well equipped fitness center. The restaurant is nice and I like the free breakfast coupons. Much better than a continental breakfast. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are clean and quiet.

My wife and I went from International Falls MN, to Thunder Bay ON CN. We made this reservation the morning of our arrival. We spoke to Brenda, what a breath of fresh air (enough about that). Hotel staff accommodated a very late arrival with a warm greeting. The front desk service was super fast and the room was spotless. All amenities were in good working order and the shower offered great water pressure to help relax the muscles. The bed and pillows were comfy and gave me a great night's sleep.

My mother and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Norwester on our way driving from Winnipeg to Ottawa. It was a very comfortable room after a long day of driving, and the staff at the front desk were very friendly. The pool, sauna, and hot tub were great. The only thing that would have made the stay better would have been a continental breakfast in the morning, or complimentary coffee in the lobby before we left for our next long drive. Overall, very good stay!

This is a very nice Best Western. Great value for the price. It's just a couple blocks out of town which is nice because it's quiet. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I always stay here when traveling through Thunder Bay.

Kept very clean and has a great fitness room and pool. The hotel restaurant serves very good food and I have tried many different items on the menu. The room and bed certainly meets or exceeds expectations. There is good value here.

I was supposed to camp at a park located near Thunder-Bay but, we got rained out. So we booked the last room at the Norwester. The pool was great for the kids, and the breakfast's was awesome. I highly recommend the eggs Benedict.

I stayed here for 7 days and every single thing about this hotel was excellent. Friendly staff, spotless, updated rooms, clean pool and hot tub, complimentary, order off the menu breakfast in the hotel restaurant run by cheerful, helpful servers. The staff made our stay so comfortable. Lots of parking. Amazing view. Decent price. Free & fast Wifi. Temperature control right in room that worked well for both A/C & heat. Short drive into town but totally worth it. Will stay there again. This is definitely the place to stay while you're in Thunder Bay!

Went the for 3 weeks, it is a perfect place for families, work or for any reason to stay. A bit further from the city, it is only 10 minutes from the city actually... Beds are comfortable, had 3 different rooms so far and they were always the same. You will have a fridge, quiet heating system, nice full bathroom, nice staff and what I like the most is their a la carte included beakfast. This last option is hard to find and this will make me go back if I have to. I would also add that the wi-fi is quick for an hotel. Usually it lags in most hotel but not this one.

I travelled to Thunder Bay about six times so far in 2016 and stayed at the best western norwester every time. I've tried a couple different rooms and I was impressed with the cleanliness every time. The staff is very friendly and make you feel welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We have stayed in a series of Best Western hotels on a recent road trip. Calgary was outstanding, Swift Current excellent. This particular BW did not meet our expectations. The room was cramped; there was no microwave; the lighting was awful; there was inadequate work space and no proper office furniture; chairs are along the same wall as the TV so the only place you can watch TV is in bed. Half the rooms on the ground floor that they claim are drive-up are not in any literal sense; the parking space is separated from the room by a grassed incline. There is no separate lounge or bar, just the dining room. When we went for a drink and a snack, wait staff were too busy talking among themselves to pay any attention to us, and then setting up a table for 12 right next to us without any regard for us. The gym is outstanding but be aware that it is a club and not a hotel gym. And it's a long way out of town and any other service. You either eat in the dining room or drive a long way for a meal. If you must stay at a BW, try the one near the airport (which we don't guarantee either).

What a gem! This hotel has a homey feel to it, set a bit out of town but still on a main highway. We stayed in a room with a balcony and view of the mountain. The bed was awesome, the room clean. We also are a couple meals at the restaurant, and both were excellent. This is a great place to stay!

The view was simply amazing! Restaurant food always hot and full of mouth watering flavor. Restaurant was clean and full of patrons but I still felt like I was the most important person. All staff willing to take time to chat so very friendly.

This hotel was affordable, comfortable, and has beautiful views. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The maids even personalized our room as they learned our needs. Only a few minutes outside of town, near two great restaurants. There are also several activities nearby.

I have occasionally required a room at the last minute and the manager and staff have always managed to provide me with a room or suite. If it is service that is a high priority, this hotel provides it!

No complaints - very helpful staff - lots of parking - clean and comfortable. A very good choice for an overnight stay while traveling. A little 'out of the way' but not a deal breaker. Yes, we plan on a return visit in late summer.

We got married at the hotel and the food for our guest was great. One even commented that it was the best food she ever had at a wedding. When we got to the room after the wedding service their was a heart made from towels with two roses on our bed. Sure made us feel important. The staff was awesome.

We were disappointed with our stay here. The location is quiet but the room was small - barely enough space for the two double beds (not queen) and a TV - the decor was dated (burgundy paisley curtains and bedskirts, hello 1990s!), the gym/pool closed too early, and although it's non-smoking, we got smoked out by guests smoking right outside our patio door. Price includes breakfast, but we didn't want breakfast, and there was no way to opt out. Paid $150 with tax, felt like it should have been under $100.

We stayed here for three days and it was great! The hotel and room was very clean. We had breakfast and dessert at their restaurant and the food was really good! The French Onion soup is delicious! One of the girls who served us was new to the team (her name was Jenna) and she was excellent! The view outside the dining room is so pretty. All of the staff were friendly. If you take a walk behind the hotel there is a marsh where we saw a pair of Canadian geese with their goslings. It was wonderful to watch them! The hotel offers a pool, hot tub, exercise room and sauna. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Sign in was a breeze as was the scenic view of the mountain area surrounding the hotel location. City of Thunder Bay is a five minute drive down the road with a lot of eating locations. There is a Resturant at the hotel but only ate breakfast there as my wife and I wanted to view the city before we left in the morning. Breakfast was menu driven and the meal was lovely. Hostesses were friendly which is nice first thing in the morning. Check out was easy and staff were friendly and helpful. Full Marks for staff and location.

We had a family Wedding at the Best Western, Norwester. They took such good care of all of us and were so accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a wedding Venue or other family events!

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Every single staff member we encountered went above and beyond to look after us. Room was well appointed and very comfortable. Loved having an actual restaurant onsite, and much nicer to be able to order "complementary breakfast" straight from the menu. Plus, server Jenna was awesome!

I travel a lot and this hotel never disappoints. Great place, nice staff and great rooms. The view is great as is the food in the restaurant. Quiet yet close to town and a great place next door to eat as well.

We had a great stay at this Best Western Plus in Thunder Bay. We found our rooms and bathrooms to be very clean which made for a comfortable stay. The rooms weren't huge and neither was the bathroom, so I wouldn't say this was an ideal hotel for "hanging out" in your room. This hotel has interior corridors, but each room also has a sliding glass door that opens up to the parking lot (for first-floor rooms) or a balcony that stretches across the length of the building (shared by all second floor rooms). If you're not the type of person that enjoys have exterior access to your room, please be mindful of this. This hotel is located outside of Thunder Bay, so you won't find restaurants or activities near its immediate premises, but instead you'll find a neat little hotel tucked away in the countryside with a lovely view outside your front door.

Hotel and staff are top notch. Rooms are nice and bed was comfortable. I can only find two things that they might improve on. Air conditioner it room sounded like it was a Saturn V rocket ready for takeoff. Next item is the in house restaurant needs dramatic improvement in the food department. The wait staff was friendly and efficient but the food was not up to the standards of the rest of the place.

My husband and I spent one night only at the lovely Best Western Plus Norwester Hotel, on our return home. We redeemed our Best Western Points to pay for this room, and of all the other Best Western Hotels we had stayed at on our journey, it was without a question, the Hotel that offered the best room choices for individuals using their Best Western Points. Our room itself was lovely, King bed, two comfy chairs, balcony, and a beautiful view of the mountain and the trail that we later walked. It had all the regular amenities (TV, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, etc) We enjoyed a lovely meal in the spacious dining room, sitting in a booth by windows that viewed the mountain, and as well, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before leaving the next morning. The service at the desk and in the restaurant were exceptional - friendly and attentive staff, both knowledgeable and helpful. It was only a one day stay, but it was one we will always remember.

I am a regular guest of the hotel. My company is sending me often to Thunder Bay for work. I tried almost all the hotels from the town sometimes without my wish. The personal of Norwester is kind and respectful when they are not so busy. When they are busy with many occupancies the level of assertiveness is going down. But overall the service is there the place is outside the busy down town or airport lines. The restaurant is good for the breakfast in the morning with many choices even you are only with your complimentary ticket, breakfast included in the room price. The facilities as swimming pool is not so bad need improvements even it was renovated it is still outdated. Overall a good experience but the personal should be more polite and assertive. Norwester is still a calm and good and place to stay in Thunder Bay.

I have traveled extensively in my 74 years and you are the very best. If I could I would give you 100 stars. All your staff was very friendly, The building and grounds were clean and neat as a pin. THe foof was excellent. What else can I say

Beautiful view from the restaurant. We did not feel like going out for dinner so we are at the hotel restaurant. Food was delicious. Service was great and the personnel very courteous. We already booked from our way back.

The staff was exelent with my kids and with us they were very friendly, easy to talk to, I will recommend for any body else to stay there it is a very relaxed environment, and if you want to go on vacation that will be the place to stay, thank you to everybody that works, it was very pleasant.

Our company normally puts us in another T-Bay hotel but it was full for this trip. The Norwester was the second choice but if given an option I'll go here from now on. Very quiet hotel a little outside of town but worth the drive. Great rooms and nice restaurant. There's also the Neebing Roadhouse restaurant across the road. Great food a short walk away.

We recently stayed for a quiet weekend at this hotel. This is our fourth stay at this hotel and we have always enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The staff is always friendly and the pool area is one of our favourite in the area.

I go there when I am in Thunder Bay because of the way the staff treat me. Also the rooms and the internet are top notch as I am in more than 100 hotel s a year. the only issue is Shaw cable with their selection of channels. It is Shaw not the hotel that is the problem.

Great hotel with great staff and services. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and really enjoyed the pool. Kids had a great time splashing around. We were able to park our car in the back parking lot just outside our room door which made it easier for us to bring in our stuff. Not far from Thunder Bay either :)

After a day's drive from Winnipeg, we were ready for a good room, and food. We found both at this hotel. On arrival we were greeted by friendly, yet professional, staff, and were quickly checked into our room, which was bright and cheerful and well-appointed. It had an outside door as well as an inside access, so we parked outside the room. The wifi was clear and fast. All in all, this was as good a hotel as one can get and should we be passing through Thunder Bay again, we will definitely use this hotel and restaurant. We found the Cliffhanger restaurant excellent (see separate review).

Was great to have such a beautiful spot after a day in a car. The walks around the water showed off herons, water fowl and just great quiet. Room was excellent and the breakfast wonderful. The staff was particularly helpful about local information.

Although it's a bit out of the way, it's well worth the extra drive. Very comfy rooms, excellent staff and Cliffhangers is a great restaurant and bar. I always feel right at home here and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Thunder Bay.

The front desk service was friendly and very helpful. My daughter and I enjoyed a well appointed room, free breakfast which was also well cooked, with a wait staff that were smiling and attentive. all around good stay.

We rented a suite with a jet tub and it was beautiful. The staff were friendly and courteous. The fireplace wasn't working but the maintenance staff attended and fixed it quickly. Also, it had a beautiful view of the Nor'Westers.

This hotel has friendly helpful staff and is an absolutely beautiful property just minutes from the city. It is definitely the place to stat in Thunder Bay and a perfect place for business or for pleasure.

This is an older hotel, but is well cared for and very clean. The staff is very friendly and anxious to please. The food in the restaurant is nicely presented and very tasty. If you are looking for modern and glitzy, this is not the place, if you want quiet and laid back this is the place.

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Great location .. We had a nice view of a small pond ..very quiet. We had a last minute rate so didn't get the free breakfast, but we did eat dinner in the restaurant and it was very good. Rooms are exactly what you expect. Clean, comfortable. Fridge, microwave ... And view of the pond. No complaints.

I had a family wedding there and decided to stay. I live about 45 minutes away but the lure of the beautiful view from the hotel, the exceptional service and delicious meals made the decision very simple! I especially enjoyed the breakfast with the million dollar view!

You will not be dissappointed...Great service, restaurant, view, rooms, things to do. Staff are very accommodating. Rooms are nice. Facilities are good. Great view from patio. Work out area has right mix of room and equipment.

The hotel is an excellent place to stay in Thunder Bay! The service, rooms, restaurant, amenities and grounds are wonderful. The property in the summer has a beautiful fountain and pond with a cut walk way through the acres of property.

Everything was excellent best place to stay for sports and for family fun. Great location. To shopping beds are awesome food was also great and breakfast was great. I would recommend to everyone. One of the best places in Thunder Bay for your dollar

Very nice, the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The rooms spacious, the beds comfortable. Very clean. The only thing that might bother some people it is out in the country, about 20 minutes from downtown Thunder Bay.

The staff are warm and welcoming and the hotel is ideally situated on the beautiful landscape of Thunder Bay landscape. Peaceful quiet and great service. I highly recommend the Mir wester because of how welcoming it is.

I stayed in suite with family. Our accommodations were excellent, view wonderful, breakfast off regular menu was included and was great. Hospitality was excellent. Ambience overall inviting and comfortable.

By far this is the best hotel I've stayed at in Thunder Bay ! Clean, friendly, great food ! And awesome property inside and out! Pool is a good size and the fitness center is really great for a hotel!

Nice clean hotel. Food in restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Friendly service made us feel welcome. Ev 240volt charger was the reason we picked the hotel. Bonus was the quiet upgraded lodging. We will stay here on our return.

This place was so pretty. There is a little lake on-site with chairs and a bench. The Cliffhanger bar and grill in the hotel was amazing. It was the best food in town. Now I'm a foodie so I won't say it's the best food I've ever had but it was good. I loved their breakfast options in particular. If you go to Thunder Bay for any reason stay there. This has more of a motel look to it for Best Westerns, but the staff and amenities were great. It has a full restaurant with complimentary full breakfast and a full gym with pool and hot tub. The staff were excellent and went the extra mile to make the stay a good one.

We had the best chicken Parmesan n angel hair for dinner at this hotel. Josee was our server, so pleasant and attentitive. The meal was hot n delicious. Then Laurie gave us the tour and we went to see the rooms for our next stay, wow they are beautiful. The view is spectacular. The pool is huge, they have private steam room, sauna n hot tub. Just so clean n beautiful! Super pleasant staff!

A friend recommended I stay at this hotel while in Thunder Bay for a business trip. I am glad I listened. I will definitely be returning and would recommend to a friend myself. I loved everything in the room; fast Wifi, great linens, comfortable bed, relaxing shower, etc. The restaurant in the hotel was great for a quick breakfast before work and had some good healthy options. I did not get to enjoy it after work, but I was recommended to some nice places around town by the staff. The area was beautiful and very scenic. Pretty much every room has an amazing view of something. And if you like to run or walk, there are some nice technical trails very close by. I will be staying here on all of my business trips to Thunder Bay.
